Married Man Bitten By Snake While Having S_ex In The Bush With Married Lover

By A Correspondent- A married man from Gwarimba Village under Chief Chingoma in Mberengwa, Midlands Province appeared to have been severely punished by a deific force after he was allegedly bitten by a snake during a se_x romp in the bush with a married woman.

According to sources, on the fateful day the two lovebirds, Edmore Marongwe and Chiedza Mazvimbakupa, were said to have sneaked out of their homes and met in the bush for an afternoon se_x romp.

It is reported that things took a sinister turn when Marongwe was bitten on the leg by an unknown poisonous snake which was apparently sheltering under their improvised makeshift mat made of tree branches and leaves.

After the attack, the woman ran from the scene in horror shouting for help, attracting the attention of a passersby who quickly rushed to the scene where they found Marongwe, who was dressed only in underwear, writhing in agony.

Three used cond0ms were reportedly discovered close to the love nest suggesting that the pair had ‘‘served’’ each other well.

In a bid to reduce the effect of the snake’s venom, the passersby reportedly administered some herbs on Marongwe.

Although Chief Chingoma, whose jurisdiction the two loverbirds’ area falls under and where the matter is set to be heard could not be reached for comment, a source from the area let slip what transpired.

The source said after Marongwe was found half nak_ed, Mazvimbakupa later confessed that he was bitten by the snake while they were having se_x.

“She begged them not to report her to her husband. She knelt down and begged the passersby to not tell anybody. She said she did not know what had got into her.

“One of the passersby who seemed to have been related to Mazvimbakupa’s husband, however, refused to buy the apology.

“It also later emerged that before they were caught in the act, the two lovebirds were always taking to the bush to satisfy their se_xual urge,” said a source who declined to be named.

After receiving news that his wife was in the habit of dishing out se_x to Marongwe, Mazvimbakupa’s husband reportedly approached Chief Chingoma demanding six herd of cattle as compensation.

When reached for comment Marongwe refused to share his ordeal saying: “This is my personal life and shouldn’t be discussed with newspapers”.

Meanwhile, Mazvimbakupa and her husband could not be reached for comment.

Man Killed Over “Mubobobo”

By A Correspondent- Police in Makosa, a ward in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland East province are investigating a murder case in which a 29-year-old man, Johane Jambo was allegedly killed by his friend Zviitei Tsigaro (23) who accused him of using juju to be intimate with unsuspecting women in the area.

According to police sources Jambo was drinking beer at Chikonyora bottle store in Mudzi together with his friend Zviitei of Nyamande village, Mudzi when the accused told his friend in a “joking manner” that he uses “mubobobo” to sleep with women.

This enraged the now deceased, resulting in a fight.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii said when the accused was being overpowered he drew a sharp object and stabbed the now deceased on the upper left thigh.”

He said the suspect is still at large and appealed to members of the public to always respect the sanctity of human life.

Germany Provides Support To Vulnerable Communities
In Zimbabwe

HARARE – The Government of Germany, through the German Federal Foreign Office, has contributed EUR 3 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Zimbabwe to
support highly vulnerable communities struggling to meet their basic food needs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This is part of a EUR 18 million contribution by Germany to Southern Africa for 2021-2023.

This contribution will be used to improve access to food and ensure that vulnerable women, men, girls and boys, including refugees, consume an adequate and nutritious diet in times of need, particularly during lean season.

Chargé d´affaires / Deputy Ambassador for German Embassy Harare Christian Oelfke said this contribution will help those who need support most.
“As part of the Federal Republic of Germany´s worldwide efforts to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic we are extending a helping hand to the Zimbabwean population with this
contribution. The pandemic has exacerbated the food security situation which has been strained for large parts of the population in the past few years. We hope that our contribution will help to
temporarily alleviate the plight of vulnerable groups.”

WFP Zimbabwe Country Director and Representative Francesca Erdelmann said this contribution comes at a time when many are finding it increasingly difficult to put food on the table because of COVID -19.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected Zimbabweans, as restrictions implemented to curb the spread of the virus have resulted in the loss of livelihoods and household income. Most of Zimbabwe’s urban population relies heavily on informal sector livelihoods, its closure during the lockdown period has had a detrimental impact on levels of
urban food insecurity. While the agriculture season witnessed an improved harvest from the previous years, some areas still needs support to see them through the peak hunger period.

Refugees at Tongogara Refugee Camp will struggle to make ends meet as they depend on WFP for assistance. This contribution from Germany will go a long way in assisting these vulnerable groups that need help the most” she said.

According to the 2020 Urban Livelihoods Assessment, 2.4 million urban dwellers, or 42% of the total urban population in Zimbabwe, are estimated to be food insecure. While the rural livelihoods assessment estimates 2.9 million that is approximately 27% of the rural households will be food insecure during the peak of lean season (Jan-March 2022).

WFP assists 326,004 people across 23 urban domains until the end of this year, with monthly cash-based transfers via e-voucher and Western Union remittance exchange. Beneficiaries receive USD 12 per person, per month to help meet their basic food needs. Presently WFP is assisting more than 13,500 refugees and through the Lean Season Assistance we aim to support 1 million people at the peak of the lean season.

Looting And Burning Are Echoes Of Apartheid Era And Proof Of SA’s Failure To Make The Leap

By Wilbert Mukori | “Before independence corruption was considered a bold and patriotic act especially as the corruption was considered an act of defiance against white colonial government. It is just that after independence the corruption continued; Nigerians consoled themselves by arguing Nigeria is very rich and there is plenty more where the looted wealth came from!” A Nigerian acquaintance once told.

“Cold comfort! Look what Sani Abacha has done; completely destroyed the country!”

If the truth be told, many African countries have been in economic decline ever since they attained their independence for various reasons including corruption. The corrupt and incompetent ruling elite have conned the ordinary people into believing there was nothing wrong with corruption, lawlessness, rigged elections, and so forth. and those advocating for these values are brain washed puppets of the dethroned colonial whites who are seeking regime change to recolonize the country.

I had hoped that South Africans would have learned to avoid the mistakes Nigerians and the rest of independent Africa before them made; they would not be so easily conned into throwing out the baby with the bath water. The basic rule that no one should be above the law is pivotal to fighting corruption, I thought every South African will see that!

Many South Africans are still living in abject poverty, the country’s wealth is still in the hands of the whites. Independence brought an end to political apartheid in the sense that blacks now have a vote and the racist laws have been abolished. However the laws and practices that had given the whites the economic advantage before independence have remained; economic apartheid is alive and thriving; as far as the impoverished majority are concerned.

The Court that sentence former SA president Jacob Zuma to 15 months for contempt of court has enforced property rights and other laws that have helped maintain the economic apartheid and so it comes as little surprise that the ordinary South African should revolt against the Court and reject rule of law.

The overwhelming majority of the owners of the shops, factories and businesses that were looted and burnt belong to the privileged white owners; burning shops, factories, etc. before independence was considered a legitimate target and since the economic emancipation did not happen in1994, the struggle continues.

A luta continua!

Deng Xiaoping. China’s economic miracle that has transform that nation from a marginal nation to the world’s second largest economy happened when Chairman Xiaoping embraced capitalism as an ideology to drive economic growth. Chairman Mao Zedong, his predecessor had rejected capitalism born out of the deep-rooted mistrust of the British, Americans and the West.

“It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.” Argued Chairman Xiaoping.

In the first two decade of China embracing capitalism the country’s economy grew in leaps and bounds puling hundreds of millions of Chinese out of poverty and the country has never looked back ever since!

Africa can too, enjoy its economic miracle, we have the rich soil and wonderful weather to produce the food, the vast minerals wealth and the flora and fauna “lovely beyond any singing of it” as Alan Paton put it so poetical. Sadly, Africa’s economic renascence is more uncertain now that South Africans have too the capitulation and rejected the rule of law for no better reason than it is a carryover from the apartheid era!

To paraphrase Chairman Xiaoping, “It doesn’t matter whether the judge is black or white, as long as he/she enforces the rule of law and stamp out corruption!” I do not see Cyril Ramaphosa and certainly not the likes of Zimbabwe’s Emerson Mnangagwa ever making that quantum leap; the former lacks the intellectual ability whilst the latter lacks the intellect and is rotten to the core with corruption to ever change!   – SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF president Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared a bloody election in 2023.

Zimbabwe goes to the polls in less than two years time.

Zanu PF said it will have a landslide victory

Highlanders Hit By Financial Crisis?

HIGHLANDERS’ players are yet to get their June pay, the club and players have confirmed.

There are also no indications when the players will be paid, as the executive is still scrounging for funding.

“We are still to get our June salaries; the club keeps saying coffers are dry. We hear they are running around, but we don’t know when they will get joy. The situation is now dire for most of us,” said one player who spoke to Chronicle Sport.

His version was corroborated by other players.

Club spokesperson Ronald Moyo also confirmed that the players were yet to be paid their June salaries.

“The players haven’t been paid (the June salaries),” said Moyo.

With no principal sponsor since the withdrawal of NetOne last year, Bosso have been living from hand to mouth through the benevolence of well-wishers.

Early last month, Bosso players boycotted training at White City Stadium’s B arena demanding that the club addresses their salary adjustment demand.

They refused to train and threatened not to fulfil a Chibuku Super Cup game against Bulawayo City.

Last week the players stormed the club’s offices along Robert Mugabe Way and forced a meeting with chairman Johnfat Sibanda and chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube over delayed June salaries and adjustments.

Moyo said the club was fully engaged and committed to ensuring the salary issue is permanently addressed as part of its mandate of meeting its obligations to its employees.- Chronicle

Man Threatens To Kill Granny At Birthday Bash

Mhlawempi Masuku (41) brought his 83-year-old grandmother’s birthday party celebrations to a sudden halt after he kicked and broke a glass door, charged at his grandmother and tried to stab her with a knife.

The dramatic incident happened in Newton West suburb on Saturday last week at around 7.30pm.

Nobesuthu Ndlovu (36) said her cousin (Masuku) got drunk and picked his grandmother’s walking stick and a pair of scissors while unleashing insults at everyone.

He then picked a knife and threatened to stab everyone at the party as he charged towards them, causing everyone who had gathered for celebrations to scurry for cover.

Masuku went for the glass door and kicked it, shattering it to pieces in the process. He charged at his granny while threatening to stab her with a knife.

Masuku’s aunt Zanele Ndebele said: “While we were busy posing for photos, Mhla (Masuku), who was visibly drunk reached for the knife and charged towards my mother intending to stab her. I had to restrain him and took the knife from him. We then scolded him and he calmed down.”

After a few minutes Masuku, who seemed to be on a mission to stab his granny, picked a scissors and charged towards the granny. Zanele restrained him.

He was not done yet as he turned to Nobesuthu’s boyfriend, Takudzwa Musengi (37), who ran for his dear life while he pursued him.

Musengi said: “He charged at me while threatening to stab me with a pair of scissors, my mother-in-law quickly restrained him and took away the scissors and the knife.”

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident: “I can confirm that we arrested a man who wanted to stab his 83-year-old granny and his son-in-law during her grandmother’s birthday party celebrations.”- B- Metro

Man Relieves Self In Blankets After Being Denied S*x By Wife

A BULAWAYO man from Hope Fountain who could not stomach being denied sex by his wife chose a bizarre way to show his displeasure — he resorted to urinating and defecating on his marital bed.

A seemingly fed-up Memory Ncube shamed her husband Isaac Mpofu in her application for a protection order at the Bulawayo Civil Court.

In her papers she said his reason for the gross behaviour was because she was denying him his conjugal rights. She said as a way of spiting her for denying him his matrimonial rights, Mpofu wets and poos in the blankets after every night of drinking.

In her suit she said she was now tired of cleaning up her husband’s mess.

“I am customarily married to Isaac Mpofu and he is emotionally and psychologically abusing me. Whenever he comes home drunk he urinates and worse, of all, defecates in the blankets. When I ask him, he says he was fixing me because I was denying him sex.

“It’s not like I’m denying him his conjugal rights but I’m against his violent behaviour which he exhibits whenever he gets drunk. I am tired of cleaning up his mess.

Worse still, he and his relatives want me to desert our matrimonial home,” Ncube protested in her affidavit.

She said she once tried to engage family members to solve the matter to no avail adding that her husband was also not financially supporting the family.

The parties, however, didn’t come to court and the matter could not be heard in their absence leading it to be struck off the roll.- B-Metro

Parirenyatwa Group Of Hospitals Now Administering COVID-19 Jab On First-come, First-serve Basis

We would like to inform members of the public that we have stopped the booking system which the hospital had introduced to manage the huge numbers of people who came to be vaccinated.

Prior to the 9th of July 2021, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals was one of the only 2 vaccination centres in the Greater Harare. This posed a number of challenges especially in the management of crowds.

Following the decentralization of the vaccination program to local clinics under the City of Harare, we are now administering the jabs on a first-come, first-serve basis. We now expect reasonable numbers of people to come to our hospital and encourage the public to get vaccinated at their local clinics.

We have also come across media articles claiming that our security personnel are getting paid by some members of the public in return for preferential treatment. We would like to reiterate that the hospital is against any form of corruption and notices to that effect are all over the hospital urging members of the public to report any form of corruption by any of our staff members. We have not received any report of corruption against our security personnel controlling queues at the vaccination centre.

However, anyone who has encountered such unscrupulous behavior is free to report to the police or to the hospital management.

Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals has zero-tolerance to corruption and remains committed to providing professional services to our clients and stakeholders…

Chinyamukwakwa Madness Must Stop!

15-07-2021

Imagine whole African families living peacefully in their communal lands and suddenly a crude European capitalist with a forged citizenship comes and push them away from their ancestral lands in the name of pursuing a ‘a Green Fuel project’.

This sounds like a story from the colonial era after the arrival of the Pioneer Column when blacks were forcibly stripped of their land by European colonialists.

No! This is not retelling of a colonial story. This is actually happening right in our times in Chinyamukwakwa communal lands in Chipinge.

A crude and ruthless capitalist by the name Billy Rautenbach is destroying crops of the villagers just before harvest to pursue his Green Fuel project whose interests have nothing to do with the locals.

This is not the first time that this white crook has clashed with locals over their land. Those in Joshua Nkomo Cooperative in Harare near Kambuzuma will testify how this white guy is pushing so hard to have their homes destroyed in order to pursue his parochial interests.

In Masvingo, in Mwenezi’s Naunetsi Range this fellow owns vast tracks of land, some which is lying idle.

Rautenbach’s thirst for acquiring land is just unquenchable. Just like his forefather Cecil Rhodes who wanted to own the whole of Africa through his private BSA Company, Rautenbach dreams to occupy the whole of this country through his private Green Fuel company.

The grave quietness of Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government on Chinyamukwakwa land saga is loud enough to confirm our fears.

It is clear Rautenbach is working in cahoots with ZANU PF top officials to drive black Africans off their land.

If this ZANU PF government is genuine about the land question, then the madness in Chinyamukwakwa must stop!

Indeed we are in a season of defiance.

Chipanga Bootlicks Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Former Zanu PF national secretary for youth affairs, Kudzi Chipanga, has bootlicked President Mnangagwa for forgiving him and readmitting him in the Zanu PF party.

Chipanga was readmitted into the party yesterday after serious deliberations by Zanu PF.

His readmission was on condition that he does not contest an election for three years, as he reverts to being an ordinary card-carrying member.
He was readmitted alongside former war veterans’ leader, James Kaunye, ex-Zanu PF councillor Taurai Chiripamberi, Talent Kadzima and Nesbert Chasara.
Since his expulsion in 2017, Chipanga shunned opposition politics and has always been begging for re-admission back into the party.
“I would like to thank President Mnangagwa and the ruling party for finally accepting my application to rejoin the party. As you are aware, I have been applying for the past four years seeking readmission, and now that my wish has been granted, I will abide by the conditions attached to it. I will work vigorously, in conjunction with my cell leadership, for the betterment of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
“I also want to thank the party leadership from Manicaland for the confidence they have shown in me,” said Chipanga.
Chiripamberi, who expelled himself when he contested as an independent candidate in Headlands constituency in 2018, had this to say: “I now understand that patriotism and ideology cannot be compromised. Now I got the chance to tell my generation that it is cold out there. My readmission elucidates a new journey guided by party ideology and principles.”

Mnangagwa Boiling To Jump Into SA Violent Situation

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has signaled he is boiling to see peace prevailing in South Africa.

Mnangagwa has expressed his wish for the unrest to be resolved as soon as possible to ensure continued stability in the region.

Speaking at Zanu-PF’s 353rd Ordinary session of the Politburo in Harare Wednesday, Mnangagwa said there was a need to ensure peace and stability in South Africa.
“In the case of South Africa, we wish the current challenges facing our brothers and sisters in that country be soon resolved,” he said.

Over 70 people have been killed in violence that followed the imprisonment of Mr Zuma for contempt of court last week.

His jailing sparked wildcat protests in his home province of KwaZulu Natal which then spread to other areas. Roads, including those that link South Africa to Zimbabwe, are currently blocked while truckers are being targeted by the protesters.

To quell the protests, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa deployed the military after the country’s police had been overwhelmed by the violent demonstrators who have burnt and looted shops.

Addressing the media after the Politburo indaba, the party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava briefed the meeting on the situation in South Africa.

“It was pleasing to note to a larger extent that the situation in South Africa is still within the capacity of our fraternal friends, the African National Congress party and its government, to resolve and hopefully quell the chaos which has been reported in various media platforms.

“We are confident that our colleagues in South Africa will overcome this challenge,” said Khaya Moyo

Ramaphosa Unleashes 25 000 Soldiers On Rioting Citizens

By A Correspondent- The South African government is set to deploy 25 000 soldiers to counter riots sparked by the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma.

At least 117 people have died and more than 2,000 have been arrested in South Africa’s worst unrest in years.

Hundreds of shops and businesses have been looted and the government says it is acting to prevent food shortages.

Citizens are arming themselves and forming vigilante groups to protect their property from the rampage.

More than 200 incidents of looting and vandalism were recorded on Wednesday, the government said, as the number of troops deployed doubled to 5,000.

But Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said she had submitted a request for the deployment of 25,000 soldiers to the two provinces hit by violence – KwaZulu-Natal, where Durban is located, and Gauteng, which includes Johannesburg.

Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 Response Is The Best In Africa”: Bragged Zanu Pf – Damned Lie And An Insult

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “Despite Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 response being one of the best on the continent as evidenced by fewer deaths and infections as compared to other nations, for government, a single death is one too many,” said information minister, Monica Mutsvangwa.

This is just an insult and one thing I hate above all others is being taken for a fool!

The Zimbabwe government announces there were 2 661 new corona virus cases and 51 deaths bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 76 381 and 2332 respectively since the outbreak of the corona virus in March 2020. If this was true, then our hospitals and clinics will not the overwhelms and the graveyards looking like freshly ploughed fields with new graves.

Zimbabwe’s official covid-19 figures have remained low because the country has not followed the WHO and common-sense recommendation of testing, tracing, tracking and isolating. It is common knowledge that Zimbabwe has deliberately and consistently carried out the fewest covid-19 tests per capita even at a time when the is a significant surge in the covid-19 cases.

In December last year for example, when there was a significant number of corona virus cases in both SA and Zimbabwe; whilst SA was carrying out over 44 000 test per day, Zimbabwe with ¼ SA’s population should have been doing over 11 000 test per day. We were doing 1 500, maximum!

If you were not tested for corona virus then you will never be counted as a corona virus case or death. So, the fewer the tests the fewer the official figure of covid-19; it sounds cynical because it is cynical.

The nation has paid dearly for the bragging rights of “Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 response being one of the best on the continent as evidenced by fewer deaths and infections as compared to other nations!” By failing to carry out the tests, the nation could not carry through the follow up activities of tracing, tracking and isolation. And so many individuals who should have been in isolation were left to mix and mingle with the rest spreading the virus far and wide and fast!

There is no such thing as good time for a disease outbreak much less a pandemic; this corona virus has happened at the worst time for Zimbabwe. The outbreak occurred at a time when the country’s economy is in total meltdown and its health care service has all but collapsed after decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption and, to crown it all, the nation was still stuck with the corrupt and dysfunctional government.

Ever since the country attained her independence in 1980, over 40 years ago; Zimbabweans have known the country’s ruling elite were corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrants who rigged elections to stay in power. The nation has had a number of golden opportunities notably during the 2008 to 2013 GNU to end the Zanu PF dictatorship but wasted them all.

In the long run, nations get the government the deserve. We in Zimbabwe certainly deserve this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of equally corrupt and utterly useless opposition parties, all 130 of them at the last count.

There is no denying if the corona virus pandemic had happened before independence or some thereafter when Zimbabwe’s economic and health care service were robust and strong, the nation will have fared a lot better than it is doing right now – forget the official covid-19 figures there are lies and an insult!

The corona virus storm is not over and no one knows how long it will last. Whilst we mourn and bury our died, we must remember the worst of this catastrophe could have been avoided if only we, the people of Zimbabwe, had taken our duty to ensure the country had competent and accountable government with the seriousness and urgency the matter demanded. And, more significantly, reflect on what we must do now to finally put an end to the tragic human suffering and deaths that will continue as long as we have a corrupt, tyrannical, vote rigging and utterly useless government.

The Zanu PF government has already started rigging the 2023 elections by arrogantly announcing that 3 million plus Zimbabweans in the diaspora will once again be denied the vote. How can the elections be legal, free, fair and credible when 30% of the electorate are denied the vote for no other reason than that Zanu PF does not trust them to vote for the party and it has no opportunity to rig the vote?

It is incumbent on all Zimbabweans to ensure all democratic reforms are implemented to guarantee free and fair elections. Zanu PF and it’s acolyte MDC opposition are gearing for the 2023 elections to proceed with no reforms, knowing fully well the elections will be rigged. It is our duty to make sure the elections are legal, free, fair and credible.

The Zimbabwe ravaged by corona virus whilst the government of the day insults us by falsifying the seriousness of the pandemic and our suffering and deaths is NOT the Zimbabwe we want. And it is high time we demanded the Zimbabwe we, the people, want.

In Zimbabwe it is the ruling elite, tail that has been wagging the dog; that must change, it is the people who must call the shots. “Nyika vanhu!” (It is the ordinary people who constitute a nation!) as one would say in Shona.

ZIFA Unhappy With Warriors Performance At COSAFA Tournament

ZIFA board member Bryton Malandule says the association expected the Warriors to be competitive at the Cosafa Cup, despite the regional showpiece being a developmental tournament.

Zdravko Logarusic’s charges put on a disastrous show in Port Elizabeth, and were eliminated without a single victory, a situation which has once again put the Croat’s position under scrutiny.

Logarusic belittled the importance of the tournament and suggested that it was just a developmental one but Malandule insists the team ought to have fared better regardless.

“Obviously, our objective as a board when we enter any tournament, be it COSAFA, CHAN or AFCON, we do not do so to go and fail, irrespective of the type of players, representing us,” Malandule told The Herald.

“Of course, a tournament like COSAFA is for developmental players but we expect the team to be competitive.

“If you look at the whole scenario, it’s not Zimbabwe alone who are fielding developmental sides.

“So, we expect the players selected to form a team that is strong enough to go and win the tournament, because we have guys playing in South Africa and Zambia.
“We had some guys, who featured in the Chibuku Super Cup, and the tournament was a chance for them as well.

“It is only fair that, as a board, we don’t interfere with the selection of the players. It’s the mandate of the technical team and we trust them to come up with a competitive team.

“As a board, the objective is to win and at the same time developing. Development, yes, but we expected more in terms of performance than what actually transpired,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Confirmed:Admiral Muskwe Leaves Leicester City

Warriors striker Admiral Muskwe has left Leicester City to join English Championship side Luton Town on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old is leaving the Foxes after twelve and was a prominent feature in the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s teams.

He was named the Leicester’s Academy Player of the Season in 2016.

The transfer marks Muskwe’s return to the English Championship after spending a six-month loan spell with the now-relegated sign Wycombe Wanderers last season.

Speaking on the signing of the player, Luton manager Nathan Jones said: “We are delighted to have signed another player who has been a target for a while. We saw what a threat Ade can be when we came up against him at Wycombe last season. He’s gained valuable experience of the Championship from his time there.

“Coming from a wonderful club like Leicester, he has great pedigree and his arrival adds quality right across the front three as he can play numerous roles. Having beaten a number of other teams to his signature, we can’t wait to get working with him.”

Leicester City’s statement on Muskwe’s departure

Young Leicester City striker Admiral Muskwe has joined Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town in a permanent deal, subject to Football League approval.

The 22-year-old Zimbabwe international joins The Hatters for an undisclosed fee after previously impressing in the second tier during a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers last term.

Muskwe, who came through the ranks of Leicester City’s Academy, scored three times in 15 appearances for Wycombe following his arrival on loan in January 2021 and also helped Swindon Town earn promotion to the League One in a 2019/20 loan spell.

The striker joined the Club’s Academy at the age of nine and has represented the Foxes at Under-18s and Under-23s levels, as well as in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament.

Logarusic Here To Stay – Report

Zdravko Logarusic is set to continue as Warriors coach despite the calls for his sacking as the Zimbabwe Football Association feels there are extenuating circumstances which have caused the national team’s poor performance.

The ZIFA board is expected to meet soon to evaluate the Warriors performance in the past matches but according to inside sources, Logarusic is not going to be sacked.

Sources say although the ZIFA board is sympathising with the fans over the COSAFA Cup results, they feel that some of the calls are emotional and would not want repeat the past mistake when they gave in to pressure and let go Joey Antipas after just a few matches in charge in 2019.

” ZIFA are not going to bow down to pressure to fire Logarusic because they gave him set targets when he got the job and he has accomplished one of the mandates,” said a source at ZIFA.

” His first mandate was to see that the Warriors qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations and he did. The defeat against Zambia was expected as he was mandated to use that game to start building the team by giving a run to fringe players. Look the team has reached the ceiling very soon the likes of Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat will be gone and there is need to look for new stars to take over in future.”

” The COSAFA Cup was not one of the targets because its a developmental tournament so that performance is not going to cost the coach his job. The main target for the coach is to go beyond the group stages at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January. Should he fail that’s when he is going to be fired.”

ZIFA board member, and chairman of the Technical and Development Committee, Bryton Malandule was quoted in the media saying that the ZIFA board was going to meet to deliberate on the Warriors performance at the COSAFA Cup but preempted that it is not going to be about firing Logarusic.

Contrary to media reports, Logarusic is still contracted beyond 2022.

MDC Alliance Vows To Stop Seizure Of Communal Land By Mnangagwa Top Ally

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has vowed to stop the seizure of land belonging to Chipinge villagers by Billy Rautenbach.

Rautenbach has given a notice of eviction to Chipinge villages as he seeks to create space for his ethanol project.

The MDC Alliance has described the move as “madness”

Read statement below:

“You Are The Most Dangerous Pandemic. Who Voted For You Puppet?”: Chin’ono Tears Into Mwonzora

By A Correspondent- Journalist Hoepwell Chin’ono has torn into MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora describing him as the most dangerous pandemic to ever happen for Zimbabwe.

He was responding to Mwonzora’s tweet where he warned communities against the covid-19 pandemic saying:

“The covid-19 is really ravaging our communities and a lot more needs to be done. Our people must be vaccinated. We reiterate that this is an international pandemic that must never be politicised.”

Chin’ono however responded to Mwonzora and said:

“You are the most dangerous pandemic. Who voted for you puppet?”

“Learners Assessment Won’t Work. Simple”: Teachers

By A Correspondent- Teachers here have called on government to shelve its ambitious continous students assessment arguing that the system will not work owing to the schools closure and teachers incapacitation.

Said the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe in a statement:

“With schools still closed until at least 26 July by government projections and at least 15 August by ours, we call on ZimSec and the ministry of primary and secondary education to suspend the ambitious continous assessment. It wont work. Learners need to cover the syllabuses and teachers are disgruntled.”

Disappointed ZIFA To Convene Meeting With Warriors

By A Correspondent- With pressure mounting from other football stakeholders, Zifa have expressed disappointment at the string of poor results by the national men’s team under Zdravko Logarušić and his assistants Lloyd Chitembwe and Tonderai Ndiraya.

The coaches’ future has been thrown into doubt after the football mother body said a meeting will be convened over the national team’s poor show at the Cosafa Cup where they mustered two points from a possible 12 and were thus booted out in the early stages of the competition.

Zifa vice-president Philemon Machana told NewsDay Sport that the association understands the emotions that have been poured by fans following the poor show.

Logarušić, meanwhile, has maintained that Cosafa was a success for the team where he identified three players who he will call up for the World Cup qualifiers in September.

The Croat has presided over the team in 12 matches where he managed just one win, but one that was important as it ensured that Zimbabwe qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations finals that are set for January in Cameroon.

However, the poor run in the African Nations Championships and Cosafa has thrust him and his lieutenants under the spotlight ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, with their ability to lead the team to success now being questioned.

Logarušić still has six months left on his contract, but his future is now up in the air as he has struggled to convince supporters.

As administrators, we can’t take any decision at this stage because we have a technical committee that looks into those issues. The technical committee will do an appraisal of the coaches, so a decision cannot be made without their input. The coaches will also have their input,” Machana said.

He, however, hinted that it’s not all gloom and doom for the coaches.

“As Zimbabweans, we are all pained by this performance and we understand the anger of the fans. They want the team to win and we all want it to win, but we should not be emotional. Let us be objective in our approach because we must remember we need to develop the players, we want future players.”

The Warriors displayed a lackluster show at the regional tournament where they failed to win a single match, managing just two points after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Senegal in their final Group B match.

They also lost to Namibia, having gained two points from draws against Malawi and Mozambique.

The shoddy performance has been met with a chorus of disapproval from the angry fans who have laid the blame on the expatriate coach.

Logarusic believes the Cosafa tournament is not about results, but rather a developmental tournament.

He said he had already observed a few players he would integrate into the first team ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.

Police Launch Blitz On Illegal Pirate Taxis

By A Correspondent- Police in Bulawayo have launched a crackdown on pirate kombis and taxis commonly known as mshikashikas as the law enforcement agents continue to intensify the fight against violators of lockdown measures.

A number of pirate kombis and taxis have since been impounded and the crews and owners of the vehicles face prosecution.

Pedestrians violating lockdown regulations such as those not wearing masks, are also being targeted. The operation also involves members of the ZRP Mounted Unit who are patrolling on horse backs. Yesterday morning, scores of commuters had to walk to the city centre after they were dropped off just before roadblocks.

Statistics of the number of vehicles impounded yesterday were, however, not readily available. Police are out in full force on a crackdown on pirate kombis and other vehicles to enforce Covid-19 regulations and Level Four enhanced measures.

Most of the kombis and pirate taxis were impounded at several roadblocks mounted on the major roads leading to the city centre.

The latest operation comes in the wake of an increasing number of people violating lockdown measures, particularly transport operators who continue operating illegally and overloading passengers. Recently, rowdy pirate kombi drivers ganged up with some rogue elements and attacked traffic police officers before smashing the rear windscreen of their patrol vehicle.

They also stole a car battery which was in the boot. There has been a worrying trend in many towns and cities of violation of regulations, with vendors back on the streets and some bars and nightclubs illegally operating. Chronicle news crew yesterday moved around the city and observed scores of commuters walking to the city centre after they were dropped off by kombi and pirate taxi drivers as they avoided police.

Pirate taxis and kombis plying the Luveve route were dumping people in Makokoba while those using Khami Road were being dropped at the VID turn off.

Kombis and pirate taxis plying the Plumtree Road route were dropping off passengers at corner 15th Avenue and Herbert Chitepo Street. For the better part of the day, police and pirate taxis were involved in a cat and mouse game, leaving commuters stranded as Zupco buses were failing to cope with demand. A police source said they had to fight off pirate taxis operators who were baying for their blood at a roadblock mounted before Mckeurtan Primary School.

Bulawayo police Inspector Abednico Ncube said they have intensified their routine operations in line with the Covid-19 lockdown regulations. Government decreed that all public transporters in urban centres should be registered under Zupco in order to bring sanity to the transport sector.

Since the beginning of lockdown, only Zupco registered buses and kombis are allowed to transport commuters in terms of Covid-19 prevention regulations. Insp Ncube said transporters that were operating illegally were putting the lives of commuters at risk of contracting the pandemic by not adhering to Covid-19 health protocols hence must be removed from the roads.

“As police, our mandate is to enforce the laws and regulations, which is why we want to ensure that there is sanity on our roads. Kombis that are not registered with Zupco should not operate,” he said.

He said the commuting public should not board kombis operating illegally. Government directed that all public transport operators that want to provide urban transport should be registered with Zupco.

Commuters who spoke to Chronicle yesterday said they reported late for work. Mr Takesure Moyo of Cowdray Park urged Government to provide more buses.

“Zupco buses are failing to cope with pressure especially during peak hours. We are appealing to Government to bring more Zupco buses so that people don’t end up resorting to mshikashikas,” he said.

Another commuter, Mr Bruce Tshuma weighed in: “People resort to boarding mshikashikas because Zupco buses are failing to meet demand. If we get more buses, I don’t think these pirate taxis would continue operating.”

Ms Lisa Mdlongwa, a Sizinda resident said she had to walk all the way to North End suburb after she was dropped off at 15th Avenue and Herbert Chitepo Street in the city centre.

“I stay in Sizinda and work as a maid in North End. Every morning I have a problem of transport to get to work. Today, I was dropped off at 15th Avenue and Herbert Chitepo Street and had to walk all the way to my workplace.”

Setback For Chibuku Super Cup

The Sports and Recreation Commission has turned down a request by the Zimbabwe Football Association to resume the Chibuku Super cup citing the 14 day extension of the national lockdown by the government.

In a letter to ZIFA, SRC said a review will be made on the 26th of July when the 14 days lapses.

The resumption of soccer in Zimbabwe has faced setback due to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

This has contributed to the poor showing by the warriors at the ongoing COSAFA tournament in South Africa where they were booted out in the group stages.

Demand For Burial Space Soars In Gweru

By A Correspondent- Demand for burial space at Gweru council cemeteries has increased since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, mayor Josiah Makombe has revealed.

In his state of the city address, Makombe said the three local authority-run cemeteries were overwhelmed, mainly as a result of the manual grave-digging system.

“COVID-19 has really raised the demand for graves,” he said.

“Gweru has three cemeteries in the city, namely Senga, Central (Mtasa) and Mkoba.

“Our main challenge is that grave digging is being done manually. We meet challenges where surfaces are rocky, for example at Senga cemetery. We are still in the process of trying to automate grave digging if funds permit.”

Makombe said there had been an increase in deaths due to the coronavirus, which in turn had pushed upwards the need for burial space in the city.

The other council cemetery, Mtapa, closed a few years ago as there was no more space for burials.

The 12-hectare graveyard was declared to be full, with the only space left being that of people that paid for burial space in advance.

Meanwhile, Makombe said the city’s health department was strained as a result of the pandemic.

“The city’s health department is hard hit by the emerging COVID-19 pandemic, which has strained our workforce,” he said.

“Although we have so far managed to effectively respond to COVID-19 cases with almost 80% of all contacts (COVID-19 contacts) having been followed up, the emerging pandemic has seen our health facilities getting strained as our medical equipment is technologically not up to date.”

ZAA Founder Conrad Mwanza Steps Down

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) founder and chairman Conrad Mwanza has said he will be stepping down this year after serving as chief executive officer for a decade.

Mwanza disclosed his plans last week during a virtual event dubbed The Big Reveal that was meant to announce nominees for the ZAA United Kingdom 10th anniversary awards set for September 11.

In a follow-up interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Mwanza said it was not easy to be chief executive officer for a decade as one had to navigate various dynamics, especially for an apolitical organisation.

“It has been a good experience, it really opened my eyes in terms of how as a country we could do very well if we were to put our political views on one side and not be fragmented. The experience has been that of being proud of my country, what my fellow countrymen are achieving in the United States of America, Canada and Australia,” he said.

“You also have to navigate your way around relationships and our sometimes polarised community. It has been a very fulfilling task that also had its stormy times, but I would not swap it for anything else.”

Mwanza said he would pass the stick to a young person with fresh ideas.

“My hope is that the ZAA legacy will continue celebrating our people and their achievements. I have been on the hunt on who will become the chief executive officer and the announcement will be done in due course,” he said.

“I want to encourage women leadership and hope the next person to take over will be a lady, a much younger person.”

Meanwhile, Mwanza said voting for the ZAA UK 2021 awards’ nominees across the four categories namely business and professional, community and sports, lifestyle and entertainment would start on July 19 and close on August 15.

“This year we will be commemorating our 10th anniversary and reflecting on a decade that has been fruitful in changing the misconceptions about the abilities of our communities over the years. We started this vision with a view to highlight the stories of positive achievement and impact by Zimbabweans,” he said.

The nominee list includes musicians, business leaders, young sports personalities, community champions and innovators, among others. The list of nominees can be accessed online.

Mnangagwa Denies Withholding Justice Ndewere Dismissal Report

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa has denied allegations that he withheld a full report containing the reasons why he dismissed former High Court judge Justice Erica Ndewere.

Ndewere last week filed an urgent chamber application seeking to compel the tribunal which heard her case to release the reasons for her dismissal by Mnangagwa.

In the application, Ndewere cited Mnangagwa and the three-member tribunal led by retired judge Justice Simbi Mubako, lawyer Charles Warara and Yvonne Masvora, who made recommendations for her removal from the bench, as respondents.

Ndewere claimed she had not been furnished with a copy of the tribunal’s determination after only learning of its existence through social media.

But in his opposing affidavit filed by Justice ministry permanent secretary Virginia Mabiza yesterday, Mnangagwa dismissed Ndewere’s claims and insisted that the former judge had been notified of his decision to dismiss her through the proper channels.

Mnangwagwa said he was not obliged to communicate his decision directly to her.

In the affidavit, Mabiza stated that Mnangagwa’s decision to fire Ndewere was communicated through Chief Justice Luke Malaba, who is the head of the Judicial Service Commission, the body responsible for matters relating to employment.

“The manner of communication of the first responsible was in his view, both appropriate and permissible in the circumstances,” Mabiza said.

Ndewere was dismissed last month after the tribunal set up to investigate her found her guilty of misconduct, but she claims she was being victimised for defying Malaba’s “unlawful orders”.

CSOs Call Zanu Pf To Order

By A Correspondent- A coalition of 10 youth civic society organisations (CSOs) has vowed that it will not take orders from Harare provincial development coordinator Tafadzwa Muguti and implored Local Government minister July Moyo to rein in his subordinates.

Muguti last month wrote to NGOs operating in the capital ordering them to report to him.

NGOs that include the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, ZimRights, among others, told Muguti that they would not report to him because his position was not provided for in the Constitution. Another grouping of NGOs has written to Moyo vowing to defy Muguti’s orders also claiming that his office was established outside the dictates of the Constitution.

The youth organisations, which include the African Regional Youth Initiative, African Youth Portal and the Youth Forum Zimbabwe, stated that Muguti’s office was non-existent under the Provincial Councils and Administrative Act.

“As the Youth Coalition, we write to you in response to letters which were widely circulated by bureaucrats in your ministry regarding the operations of NGOs across the country,” the coalition said in its letter to Moyo dated July 2.

“The undersigned organisations are deeply concerned by the contents of the letters in which it was insinuated that all NGOs fall under the direct supervision of provincial development coordinator (PDC).”

“It must be noted that going by the Provincial Councils and Administrative Act, the office is non-existent and even if we might want to equate the office to that of the provincial administrator provided at law in the Provincial Councils and Administrators Act, the powers will be then limited to activities relating to the operations of government.”

The CSOs threatened legal action against Muguti over his pronouncements.

“There is no legal backing that would make the PDC’s office control the operations and activities of NGOs as they are not part of and or agencies of government.

“Section 68 of our Constitution is very clear that every person has a right to lawful administrative conduct. We, therefore, call upon your office to rein in your bureaucrats before we take appropriate legal actions to protect ourselves,” part of the letter further read.

On Monday, Masvingo provincial development co-coordinator Jefter Sakupwanya summoned all NGOs operating in the province and accused them of meddling in politics.

MDC Alliance Piles Pressure On Govt To Act On Billy Rautenbach’s Chisumbanje Displacements

Where Jealousy And Selfish Ambition Exist: Sabbath School

By Elder Dr Masimba Mavaza

The Roots of Restlessness
Lesson 3

Memory Text:
“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice” (James 3:16, ESV).

INTRODUCTION

Aspens are beautiful trees, reaching 45 to 90 feet (15 to 30 meters) in height. They thrive in cold climates with cool summers. Their wood is used in furniture and also for making matches and paper. Deer and other animals often feed on young aspen trees during hard winters, as their bark contains many nutrients. Aspens need lots of sunshine, and they grow all the time—even in winter, making them important winter food sources for different animals.

Aspens, however, are most notorious for the fact that they have one of the largest root systems in the plant world. The roots spread by underground suckers and form a colony that can spread relatively quickly, covering large areas. Individual aspen trees can live up to 150 years, but the larger organism below the ground can live for thousands of years.

SABBATH: Known as the “tree for life”, aspens can live for 150 years. It is seasonal; can thrive in winter & summer, & has a height of 15-30 meters. Also, it needs lots of light & often used to make furnitures or serves as food for diverse animals. One aspen is just part of a whole, a larger organism (roots) is beneath that can live for 1,000 years. Like the roots of aspen, some sins that hinder rest in Christ are unseen.

SUNDAY: Ironically, “the Prince of Peace” once said that He did not come to bring peace but sword in the world (Isa. 9:6, Matt. 10:34-39). As shocking as it seems, Jesus was reiterating the need to put God first (Micah 7:6). In His earthly work, He promoted love for both neighbors & enemies. How then can He bring division? He talked of the dilemma of putting God first above family. This, Adam failed to do (5T, p. 87).

MONDAY: “Selfishness is as natural as breathing” for most of us. Often, we’re tempted to put our desires/wants above that of others & even God. As in the unseen large aspen root, selfishness is part of the larger root of sin (Luke 12:13-21). In planning ahead, we should plan with God. His will must supersede our desires. Christ was selfless towards humanity (Phil. 2:5-8). Be selflessly driven (Matt. 6:20).

TUESDAY: Jesus reproved the pride & ambition of His disciples as they argued on who should be seen as the greatest amongst them (Luke 22:14-30). Ambition has the affinity to make people restless, as in the disciples (Matt. 18:1). The long time of service under their selfless Tutor could not drive away their selfish ambitions. Christ revealed the need of possessing the simplicity of a child to be called great in Heaven.

WEDNESDAY: Hypocrisy is when one does not walk his/her talk or practice what he/she preaches. Hypocrites are playacts (see Matt. 23:1-13). Christ openly rebuked the hypocritical acts of the Pharisees & scribes (Matt. 23:13-15, 23, 25, 27, 29; 6:2, 5, 16; 15:7-9; 22:18). The Pharisees & Sadducees didn’t walk their talk, made religion harder for others, sought for praises, & called for the honor due God (DA, p. 620).

THURSDAY: How then shall we do away with restlessness? It begins with Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, & the life. His Spirit leads us beside the still waters & in the right direction (John 14:1-6; 16:13; 10:10). Christ offers relief when we’re stressed & guidance in this media-saturated world. He is able to uplift us from low plains to higher plains & is the author & finisher of our faith/future (Phil. 1:6; Jer. 3:22).

FRIDAY: The spirit of selfishness is the spirit of Satan. It caused the fall of Satan—It doesn’t promote, but it rather demotes. Those who are selfish impede growth in their lives. Focus on the interest of others & put God first. Talk of the love of Christ & His goodness. Carry the burdens of others. If selfishness is submerged in God’s grace, a 5 minute talk will be enough to settle disputes in church meetings.

Discussion Questions

? In class, think about practical ways of overcoming selfishness. How can you keep each other accountable so that these ideas can become a reality?

? Ambitions are not inherently bad. Yet, how can we anticipate and imagine great things from God without falling into the trap of being consumed by ambition?

? Most of us don’t show ambition, hypocrisy, selfishness, or envy on the outside. We are very capable of offering a more benign facade. Like the huge root system of an aspen tree, however, all these negative characteristics lurk below the surface. What does Spiritguided character transformation look like in practice? How can we overcome the root of restlessness and find true rest in Jesus?

? Dwell more on your answer to Thursday’s final question about the importance of the Second Coming. After all, without it, what hope do we have? Without it, what good would Christ’s first coming have done for us, knowing that the dead sleep until the resurrection, which happens only at the Second Coming?

ZACC Arrests Respected Doctor Over $60 Lab Test While Skipping Rushwaya

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Harare doctor over what it says is a fake lab test, charged at $60.

ZACC which has not cared to prosecute multi million dollar cases such as of the former ZIFA boss Henrietta Rushwaya, announced the arrest of Dr Michael Mandaza as it stated:

Mandaza conducted fake laboratory tests to patients at his hospital, charging them US$60 per test when in fact, he does not own any laboratory and instead, was generating fake laboratory reports.

Investigators from ZACC discovered a date stamp for the alleged fake laboratory, medical records of patients subjected to the fake tests, laptops and other digital devices used to generate the fake laboratory reports at the hospital.

Further searches at Dr. Mandaza’s residence in Zimre Park also resulted in the confiscation of USD$15,000 and R2,000.

ZACC is still to explain why it has rushed to dabble in this level of police cases which are better relegated to the Zimbabwe Medical Council, a professional body capable of determining what is right or wrong.

Doctors can perform various tests per needs and Zimbabwe is currently in emergency mode due to the Covid and other restrictions.

Fay Chung Re-Joins Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- Former Education Minister Fay Chung has rejoined Zanu PF.

Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo announced Chung’s come back on Wednesday.

Chung was one of the early public supporters of an independent presidential candidate, Simba Makoni who announced his presidential candidacy in early February 2008.

She was Deputy Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Education from 1980 to 1988 and Minister of Education in the late former president Robert Mugabe’s cabinet from 1988 to 1993.

Gold Panners Loot Chinhoyi Shop

By A Correspondent- Two gold panners have appeared in court facing public violence and theft charges after vandalising shop buildings and stealing groceries at Lion’s Den in Chinhoyi.

The damaged property is valued at US$30 000 while US$7 000 groceries were stolen.

Enock Ndaradzi (27) and Rodney Ndoro (24) were granted $3 000 bail each after they were Monday arraigned before Magistrate Melody Rwizi.
The matter was remanded to 29 August for routine remand.
The state alleges that on 3 July this year, the duo attacked seven shops at River Ranch, Lion’s Den in Chinhoyi belonging to Tapiwa Jowa, Jonasi Guvamombe, Shepherd Manyange, Learnmore Mwandidze, and three others.
In the process, they heavily assaulted the complainants causing bodily injuries, leaving one of them seriously injured and hospitalised at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
Ndaradzi and Ndoro allegedly destroyed window panes and doors of various shops before looting groceries.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Elijah Kasima based at Murereka Police Station had opposed bail arguing the nomadic pair was on the run since committing the offence a fortnight ago.
The police officer also averred in court that Ndaradzi and Ndoro were notorious for terrorising residents of the area and, therefore, not suitable bail candidates.

Botswana Closes Schools As COVID-19 Cases Rise

The President of Botswana Mokgweetsi Masisi announced on Tuesday his government has taken a decision to close schools from this coming Friday until August 16 as the country battles its deadliest COVID-19 wave.

Masisi made the announcement in a scheduled national address broadcast live on the state television channel. He said the country found itself in a dire situation of rapidly rising cases and inadequate vaccines.

As of Monday, the country had registered a total of 80,153 confirmed cases and 1,253 deaths. Active cases reached an all-time high of 8,970 with an average of more than 1,000 daily cases in the past three days.

Masisi said his government would prioritize to vaccinate teachers during the closure of schools as the virus has shown to be widespread in schools. Stakeholders have been calling for the closure of schools following deaths of at least 64 teachers by the end of last week.

Like many African countries, Botswana was facing a challenge of vaccine shortage. Although the uncertain availability of vaccines makes it difficult for the country’s vaccine rollout plan to go on smoothly, the government remains hopeful to have all those eligible to be vaccinated by the end of 2022, said Masisi.

Meanwhile, the president also told the nation that COVID-19 has severely battered the country’s economy and there is no sign of a quick recovery. He called on everyone to remain vigilant of the situation and do their best to contain the spread of the virus.- AFRICA CGTN

Zanu PF Threatens To Deregister NGOs

SPECIAL BRIEF FROM THE 353rd ORDINARY SESSION OF THE POLITBURO

The Party’s Politburo endorsed President ED Mnangagwa’s call for NGOs and Civil Society Organisations to stick to their mandate or risk deregistration. The Politburo has reiterated the President’s clarion call for all the Party Structures at every level to remain vigilant and alert to the machinations of the enemies of the People’s Revolution.

On the South African Disturbances,
The Politburo received a report on the Diplomatic front from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Honourable Dr Frederick Shave. A report on the disturbances obtaining in South Africa was tabled for deliberations. The Politburo resolved that although the rest of the region will be affected directly or indirectly economically, the situation in South Africa was still within the capacity of our fraternal friends, the ANC and its Government to resolve and hopefully, the chaos will come to an end sooner.

On Swaziland,
The Politburo received a Report on the disturbances in Eswatini by Minister Shava, which centred on the causes of the disturbances and clandestine activities of NGOs and other Civil Society Organisations as well as opposition groups calling for an elected executive arm of Government. Since the matter is under SADC currently, ZANU PF calls for calm and peace in Eswatini and encourages dialogue as a means to find a way forward.

Mnangagwa Uses IMF Report To Threaten NGOs with Extermination

“Let us remain alive to the machinations by hostile forces and their allies to derail our programmes and projects. We know their form, agenda, strategies and nature. Detractors, sell-outs and their appendages must forever be silenced at the 2023 Harmonised General Elections,” Mnangagwa said.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’ has used the recently released IMF report to threaten non governmental organizations with  extermination calling them blunt opposition forces that do not wish the country any good.

Mnangagwa’s comments come as the nation owes the IMF more than $8 billion in external debt, most of it in arrears, and does not qualify for new IMF funding after defaulting on its loans in 1999.

The Fund said any financial package would require “a clear path to comprehensive restructuring of Zimbabwe’s external debt, including the clearance of arrears and obtaining financing assurances from official creditors… and governance and transparency reforms

Addressing the Politburo, Mnangagwa said must be exposed and consigned to history in 2023.

In his address to the Zanu PF Politburo, Mnangagwa said the governing party will not hesitate to deregister meddling NGOs which are increasing their anti-Zimbabwe agenda as 2023 elections draw closer.

“Let us remain alive to the machinations by hostile forces and their allies to derail our programmes and projects. We know their form, agenda, strategies and nature. Detractors, sell-outs and their appendages must forever be silenced at the 2023 Harmonised General Elections,” the President said.

Zimbabwe goes to the polls in less than two years time, with pollsters projecting a Zanu PF landslide victory owing to the economic recovery and policies that resonate with the people.

“As the election season unfolds, we are observing a notable number of NGOs diverting from their operational mandates to delve into political matters, that amounts to interference in the internal affairs of our sovereign country.

“My Government will not brook any such disregard for our laws and will proceed to de-register all organisations found in the wrong. Party structures must be vigilant and expose such elements.

“Party structures, particularly the District Coordinating Committees office bearers in the Business Liaisons, Youth and Women League secretariats from the cell, branch, right up to provincial level in urban areas and growth points are called upon to implement robust mobilisation programmes to bring every urbanite to ZANU PF, the home of the people’s revolution,” the President added.

Under the Second Republic, and despite setbacks caused by Covid-19, the country’s economy is this year alone expected to grow by 7 percent with a multiplier effect on job creation and food security.

Underpinned by the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), the country’s inevitable march to becoming an upper middle-class economy by 2030 remains well on course buoyed by increased capacity utilisation, a bumper harvest and prudent fiscal and monetary policies that have seen inflation dropping while prices in shops have stabilised.

“It is noteworthy that the modernisation of both the party and Government has resulted in unprecedented economic successes. These are riding on the rebound of our agriculture, mining and manufacturing sectors. The tourism sector has equally seen increased investments while many airlines are indicating an interest to fly into Zimbabwe.

“The overall rebound of our economy has been acknowledged and received good reviews from the IMF and World Bank. A glowing light can never be hidden under a table; it shall eventually shine forth.

“Unfortunately, there are those lone voices and perennially pessimistic individuals who always wish gloom and doom on our economy and country. These personalities must be ignored with the hope that one day, they too will see the light, acknowledge the truth and speak well of their mother country,” he said. Party structures, the President said must therefore take the success stories to all levels so that the population is aware of the achievements of the Second Republic.

“The evident progress and successes in the implementation of development projects and programmes under the National Development Strategy 1 must inspire us to do more for the people of our great country.

“Sustainable socio-economic and political development programmes within our party, involving farmers, students, professionals, the academia, women and the youth, must be rolled out more enthusiastically.

“The centre of every programme must be the people and the betterment of their quality of life.

“Over and above this, our party must continue to reinvent itself, sustain its revolutionary legacy and grow from strength to strength. The revolutionary and Pan African ethos of emancipating and liberating the masses must always be kept alive.

“On the broader development agenda, the party must actively participate in the devolution programmes right from the ward level up to the provinces. It is these programmes that have far reaching impacts on the quality of the lives of our people.

“Hence, as we continue to prepare for the 2023 elections the party must equally use all available media platforms and its structures to continuously publicise party successes and ongoing projects at the grassroots levels,” he said. ReuterΠHerald

Cops Raid Beer Delivery Truck

Wiriranai Paradza the proprietor of Astelotrans Transport has made a report at Chivhu accusing Mvuma Police of looting 15 tonnes of Castle Lite crates from his truck going to Zambia from South Africa.

He says Police looted the truck after the driver, Webster Nhau turned off the highway to drop some smuggled goods at Mavise Business Centre 10km from Mvuma towards Harare.

The vehicle’s load shifted along the dust road and Police details found Nhau desperately trying to repack the beer. He allegedly bribed the cops with some beer in a bid to conceal the case of the smuggled goods.

Police made three loads of beer with their truck, The Mirror was told.

Paradza said that Police loaded the beer into their vehicle and took it away.

Villagers who noticed Police looting the beer joined in immediately after the Police left and cleared half of the 34 tonnes that the truck carried, said Paradza.
Villagers used wheelbarrows, scotch carts and cars to loot the beer.

Apart from the Police and villagers, well known business people and political leaders are also said to have looted the beer
Midlands Province Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident but dismissed allegations that Police was involved in looting.
“The case was handled above board by Police. A Police car was only used to transport beer to the Station for booking. Hand over, take over was done on book,” said Mahoko
However, Paradza insisted that Police was the first to loot from his car and then villagers followed. He said efforts to recover his beer was thwarted by Police officers who allegedly tipped villagers to hide their loot.

Paradza reported the case to Chivhu but got frustrated when Chivhu Police told him to report the matter to Mvuma since the area is under Chivhu.

“Mvuma Police looted beer from my truck. l even made a report at Chivhu Police but l heard that the law says l should report to Mvuma because the incident happened in Mvuma area.
“That is when l gave up because I was going to report to the same people who looted my truck.

“When we tried to recover some of the loot from individuals we failed because Police was alerting the looters to hide the beer,” said Paradza.

Zanu PF Cheap Political Tricks Exposed

By Valerie Karimakwenda MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Organising Secretary UK and Ireland

Who gets to sell vaccines to Zimbabwe? China. Who gets to construct power plants in Zimbabwe? China.

Who can violate local graves to exploit coal? China.

Who gets to make tiles and bricks cheaply, with exploited labour, and without environmental assessment impact certifications, whatever that means for corrupt Environmental Management Agency (EMA)? China.

These, while mentioning a few of economic activities, dominated by colonial China should be among significant reservations for Zimbabweans, but since it is not in the interest of Zanu pf, it is not so.

Decades of besieging Zimbabwe, Zanu pf is finally realizing that certain subsectors ought to be reserved for Zimbabwe. This however is nothing but mockery of suffering and miserable Zimbabweans. Zanu pf has no locus standi nor legitimacy that is consequent of locus standi it has an acute deficiency of, to actually think that it can, successfully and genuinely implement reforms that ensure a transition of theory to practice of having actual subsectors being reserved for Zimbabweans. This is so for a number of reasons below.

Apparent perpetual centralization of power by Zanu pf, which stimulates impunity, and necessitates rule by law as preferences for Zanu pf, aiding to its unconstitutional prolonged detention of people’s power is one such reason, why Zanu pf erroneously classifying minimum wage jobs, mediocre income sole proprietorships as reserved for Zimbabweans.

Owning a grain grinding mill, a saloon, or being an artisanal miner does not nor will it ever attract the Chinese, Pakistanis or Indians. Its mediocre to them, and the returns at best are discouraging.

Anyone can operate a grinding mill, anyone can work in a saloon, but this classification by Zanu pf as sectors reserved for Zanu pf is strategic, although futile in that Zanu pf, in the eve of 2023 elections, suddenly appears as a people’s welfare sensitive government, that in the past did not neglect the people’s welfare for its preference for primitive accumulation.

It is futile because Zanu pf is admitting, not by design but by default, that the people it has been holding hostage for decades cannot specialize for instance, with regards to high level technology, research and innovation, which would have been critical for research in and subsequent manufacture of vaccines needed to combat the pandemic for instance, a sharp contrast to outsourcing from China.

Instead of buying retired airbuses on grounds of safety, Zimbabwe would have been able to manufacture or at least assemble its own fleet, crucial for the tourist sector for example. These just serve as illustrations, of the incompetence of Zanu pf, and the level of economic mediocrity, significant in Zanu pf classifications of so-called economic subsectors.

Zanu pf hostages, which are the generally miserable and suffering Zimbabweans cannot specialize, nor can they raise, attract capital needed for capital intensive but highly lucrative opportunities, which Zanu pf has reserved for the Chinese, its colonial masters, to whom it owes allegiance for protection from onslaught of international sanctions, passed by a United Nations Security Council Resolution. Sanctions that would coalholes Zanu pf to reform and thus leave power, democratizing Zimbabwe in the process.

Without capital and specialist skills, the hostages are condemned to a life of mediocrity and poverty, which Zanu pf paints as reserved economic subsectors. A fancy word, meant to stimulate the parochial, uninformed and non-participating but frustrated people.

During the only golden era to ever dawn on Zimbabwe, negotiated and supervised by the democratic and progressive West, which was a temporary salve to Zanu pf decades old but festering, ugly burns, not once did the only genuine opposition, sensitive to the needs of the public, denigrate Zimbabweans to the level of reserving almost none profitable but nearly charitable economic subsectors, grinding mills or saloons. Unlike Zanu pf, the opposition ensured broad based inclusivity where everyone was involved and participated, in addition to being equally treated and considered fir economic opportunities exploitation, be it private or public sector.

Foreigners were not prioritized as greedy Mnangagwa and Zanu pf are doing now.

Given the proximity of Zanu pf decision of sudden classification of so called reserved economic subsectors for Zimbabweans, to 2023 elections, one cannot help but be concerned about Zanu pf grooming of partisan distribution of so called reserved economic subsectors. There is no way Zanu pf can be expected, given its past record, to equitably distribute so called reserved economic subsectors opportunities, while ignoring perceived political affiliation, perceived or imagined.

This means those not affiliated with Zanu do not get any economic inclusivity exposing them to so called reserved economic subsectors.

Zanu pf does not need to classify so called reserved economic subsectors for people it is holding hostage, it needs to implement reforms which are an existential threat to it, paving way for tranquil transition of the opposition into power.

Over 70 Die In SA Pro-Zuma Protests

By A Correspondent- At least 70 people have now died in the violence that has been engulfing parts of South Africa since the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma last week.

This includes 10 people killed in a stampede during looting on Monday night at a shopping centre in Soweto, the country’s biggest township.

Almost 800 people have been arrested in the unrest that began last Thursday and turned violent over the weekend.

The military has now been deployed to help the overstretched police.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called it some of the worst violence witnessed in South Africa since the 1990s, before the end of apartheid, with fires set, highways blocked and businesses looted in major cities and small towns in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces.

Police Minister Bheki Cele told journalists on Tuesday that, if the looting continued, there was a risk areas could run out of basic food supplies.
However, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said there was not yet a need to declare a state of emergency over the violence.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala said some 26 people had been killed in the province so far. In Gauteng the death toll is 19, including the 10 who died at the mall in Soweto.

The BBC’s Vumani Mkhize says several shopping centres in the township – once home to Nelson Mandela – have been completely ransacked with ATMs broken into, restaurants, bottle stores and clothing shops all left in tatters.

Soldiers, working with the police managed to catch a few rioters, but law enforcement remains heavily outnumbered, he says.

In KwaZulu-Natal – where livestock has also been stolen – the unrest continues with ambulances even coming under attack by rioters in some areas, South Africa’s TimesLive news site reports.

Officials have accused some groups of taking advantage of the anger over Zuma’s imprisonment to commit criminal acts, while others have said anger over unemployment and poverty are fuelling the chaos.

But Mr Cele warned that “no amount of unhappiness or personal circumstances from our people gives the right to anyone to loot, vandalise and do as they please and break the law”.

He also revealed they were investigating 12 people for inciting violence.
There has been some concern over fake news online fuelling the unrest, while the governing African National Congress (ANC) had already revealed it was looking into tweets sent by Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.

State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo said officials were “busy sorting fact from fiction” after receiving information that former security agents linked to Zuma had instigated the violence.

Zuma was convicted of contempt of court last month after failing to attend an inquiry into corruption during his presidency.

The 79-year-old, who denies corruption, was given a 15-month prison sentence. He handed himself to police late on Wednesday.

He is hoping to get the sentence rescinded or reduced by the country’s constitutional Court. However, legal experts say his chances of success are slim.

The catalyst was the arrest last week of Zuma, with his supporters blockading major roads – the economic arteries of the nation – as they demanded the release of their political hero.

Low income levels and unemployment – standing at a record high of 32.6% among the workforce and even higher at 46.3% among young people – are seen as the ticking bombs that have exploded.
Many South Africans have been shaken by the riots that have swept through Zuma’s political heartland of KwaZulu-Natal and the economic hub of Gauteng.
And many feel that his successor as president, Cyril Ramaphosa, has failed to provide decisive leadership – either to calm anger over Zuma’s imprisonment or to reassure South Africans that they will be safe.
Mr Ramaphosa was accused of belatedly deploying troops – and only 2,500 of them compared with the 70,000 he deployed to enforce a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19 last year.
But there is no agreement over the deployment – the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) opposition party has opposed it, saying the solution lay in “political intervention and engagement with our people”.
Many residents in affected areas have remained at home, and some have formed what local media call “defence squads” to protect their neighbourhoods and businesses as looting and burning continues.
There is no doubt that the unrest is the biggest security challenge that Mr Ramaphosa has faced since he became president in 2018 after ousting Zuma. It is bound to worsen the economic crisis, already hit by the pandemic, as many businesses, including shops, warehouses and factories, have been destroyed.
Video footage shows that even a blood bank was looted in the coastal city of Durban, as Mr Ramaphosa addressed the nation on Monday night.

Mnangagwa Re-Admits G-40 King Pins

By A Correspondent-Zanu PF has re-admitted a number of the former late President Robert Mugabe allies into the party.

Former deputy Sports Minister, Makhosini Hlongwane and the party’s former youth leader Kudzanai Chipanga are some of the top Mugabe allies who have been readmitted into Zanu PF.

Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo made the announcement today after the party’s politburo meeting.

Mnangagwa Deploys Army At Covid-19 Vaccination Centres

By A Correspondent- The government said that it will be deploying military personnel at Covid-19 vaccination centres nationwide amid reports of continued chaos characterising the exercise.

This was announced by Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa at a post-cabinet media briefing in Harare Tuesday.

The minister said the government has opened the inoculation exercise to all citizens above 18, adding that authorities have also stepped up efforts to ensure every willing citizen gets the jab.

“Out of the 2 million doses of vaccines that the Ministry of Health and Child Care received on the 8th of July 2021, every province has received 50 000 first doses except just for Harare metropolitan and Bulawayo metropolitan provinces which received 100 000 doses each.

“A total of 1,5 million vaccines will be distributed this coming week. The nation is informed that vaccination is now open to everybody with frontline personnel still being prioritised at vaccination centres,” she said.

Zimbabwe’s inoculation process, while envied by many countries far and beyond, has been marred by chaos and complaints by ordinary citizens that some unscrupulous health personnel distributing the jab at the centres were involved in acts of favouritism, something that continues to inconvenience those who come early for the crucial national health process.

Mutsvangwa said police and the army will now be roped in to bring order at the centres.

“In order to minimise the time spent in queues, extra personnel from security and defence forces has been harnessed so as to increase the numbers of personnel at the vaccination centres,” said the minister.

The involvement of police and the army in processes aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19 is however not new in the country as they have, since outbreak March last year, been tasked to man roadblocks and also enforce other lockdown measures imposed by authorities.

The law enforcement agents’ conduct in executing the national duty has however not been as impeccable as they have often themselves been accused of rights abuses and taking bribes from persons found violating the measures.

Squatters In Fist Fight With Bereaved Family In Grave Yard

By A Correspondent- Violent clashes erupted at a graveyard in Epworth after some squatters tried to block the burial of a local resident.

violent clashes recently ensued between those illegally settled at the graveyard and a bereaved family that was burying its loved one.

The local authority’s town secretary Dr Wilton Mhanda confirmed the clashes.

“There are squatters that clashed with council officials refusing them to allocate and dig graves at the site, but we have since engaged them and they are now cooperating,” he said.

Past MDC-Alliance Epworth Mayor Batanai Masunda said the graveyard settlers turned violent last weekend when some residents went to bury their late relative who died from Covid-19-related complications.
“The illegal settlers were accusing the Epworth Local Board of pegging graves on their land when in fact they were allocated those stands by land barons.

“People were chased and stoned with bricks and sustained injuries and had to postpone the burial. The body had to be taken back to the funeral parlour. The deceased is an elderly woman from Ward 6,” he said

Sprouting Of Shabeens Angers Hwange Health Experts

By A correspondent- Health experts in Hwange have attributed the sprouting of shebeens as the major cause of increasing cases of Covid-19 cases.

According to the state media, there are several shebeens that have sprouted in Hwange, especially in Empumalanga suburb.

Sources said most of them are operated by high profile people in the coal mining town which explains why they are not being closed.

People reportedly drink all night at the various shebeens despite the existence of a 6.30pm to 6am curfew.

Greater Hwange Residents Association Trust co-ordinator Mr Fidelis Chima said shebeens are all over Hwange.

“Shebeens are all over Hwange and we have approached authorities about the issue. Our wish is for the Covid-19 task force to work closely with residents’ association’s structures so as to come up with a lasting solution to this. We can work together to conscientise residents of the risks of running shebeens and also disseminating information on Covid-19,” he said.

Hwange District medical officer Dr Fungai Musinami-Mvura said shebeens, just like funeral wakes that residents continue to attend while not following laid down protocol, are high-risk gatherings.

“The problem with shebeens is that once people get drunk, they become a high risk gathering because no one will be following regulations.
We plead with people to follow regulations and if they want to drink alcohol, they should rather buy and drink from home. We once visited Hwange and we were told about the shebeens. These shebeens could be one of the contributors of the high rates of Covid we are having in the district particularly in Hwange town,” said Dr Musinami-Mvura.

Exposing Zanu PF’s Cheap Vote Buying Tricks

ZRP Cops Loot Beer From Delivery Truck
