EFA Bans Van Dijk

The English Football Association (EFA) has hit Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk with another match ban and also fined him £100,000.

The Dutch defender recently served a one-match ban for his straight red card in their 2-1 win over Newcastle United a fortnight ago.

The expulsion came after he denied Alexander Isaak a goal-scoring opportunity by means of a foul.

Following the red card, the Reds skipper was seen remonstrating with referee John Brookes and fourth official Craig Pawson and used foul language.

The remonstration has now attracted a separate one-match ban and a fine after Van Dijk pleaded guilty of using abusive language.

The Dutchman, who missed Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa last Sunday, will now also be suspended for the trip to Wolves next weekend.

A statement by the English FA reads: “Virgil van Dijk has been suspended for one match and fined £100,000 for breaching FA Rule E3.1 during Liverpool s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on Sunday 27 August.

“The defender admitted that he acted in an improper manner and used abusive and insulting words towards a match official after being sent off in the 29th minute, and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission. Full written reasons for this case will be published in due course.”

About Sexual Exploitation

Tackling all forms of sexual misconduct

Sexual misconduct – exploitation, sexual abuse, sexual harassment (SEAH), sexual violence – by our personnel violates the rights and well-being of the people we serve and the people with whom we serve. Such behaviours are directly in opposition to WHO’s values and our abiding responsibility to do no harm.

Sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) of the populations we serve, and sexual harassment (SH) of our own workforce require similar prevention and response approaches because they stem from the same power differentials, inequities, drivers, and risks. Using the umbrella term, sexual misconduct, clarifies that these acts pertain to the WHO workforce, are prohibited, and therefore lead to disciplinary action.

WHO has zero tolerance for any form of sexual misconduct, for inaction and for retaliation against those who raise complaints or bear witness. Our work prioritizes the rights and needs of victims and survivors.

In 2021, WHO launched an intense period of prevention and response actions following the harrowing accounts of victims and survivors of SEA during the 10th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo encapsulated in the Management Response Plan that concluded in December 2023. To build on and institutionalize this progress, our future work is framed by the three-year strategy for preventing and responding to sexual misconduct.

Pillars Of Mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of

In “Business”
causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more .

Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay …

tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .

Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost .

Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Allegations Against Mutoko RDC Chief, Councillor Dismissed

MUTOKO – Recent allegations implicating Mutoko Rural District Council (RDC) Chief Executive Officer, Reason Makore and councillor, Robson Jembere, in a scandal involving the construction of a commercial building in a cemetery have been dismissed as a politically motivated smear campaign.

According to inside sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the article was sponsored by another councillor who harbored ambitions of becoming the Mutoko RDC chairperson.

The intention was to tarnish the reputation of Makore and Jembere, who are seen as potential obstacles to the councillor’s political aspirations.

Makore, when reached for comment, expressed his lack of information regarding the allegations. “I do not have enough information because I am not in Mutoko at the moment,” he clarified.

This statement suggests that Makore is not directly involved in the alleged scandal and is unaware of the details surrounding it.

Jembere, who has also been accused of building a bottlestore in Chinzanga School grounds, dismissed the claims when contacted for comment. “The school has many grounds,” Jembere explained, implying that the construction was not on the school’s main premises.

The dismissal of these allegations by both Makore and Jembere, coupled with the information provided by inside sources, strongly suggests that the article was part of a broader political power struggle within the Mutoko RDC.

It is crucial to consider the motives behind such allegations and to approach them with caution.

Outing Turns Horribly Wrong For Couple

An imbiber’s outing with his lover turned horribly wrong when he was bashed and robbed by two unidentified men who also forced his lover to lie down before they demanded him to perform a sex act on her while they watched.

The incident which happened this week on Tuesday at around 11.30 pm and was reported to the police occurred while Linos Sibanda (32) and his lover were on their way home from a city night spot.

A source close to the incident said Sibanda from Entumbane suburb and his lover met their fate when they left a night spot which is situated along Fife Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues.

While they were heading to 6th Avenue to look for transport to ferry them home things turned bad for them when they met two unidentified men.

“The two men were armed with a knife and hammer. They confronted them (Sibanda and his lover) and told them to stop and surrender all the money and items in their possession. While Sibanda was trying to reason with them they slapped him once on the face causing him to bleed,” said the source.

The worst was yet to come for Sibanda when they ordered his girlfriend to lie on the ground before they ordered him to perform a sex act on her while they watched, the source said.

While he was busy performing the sex movements they slapped him on the back and demanded money.

“He then surrendered R800, his black leather jacket and a belt before they ran away. After a few minutes they rose and headed to Bulawayo Central Police Station where they reported the incident.

“Police attended the scene and they have since launched a manhunt for the two suspects,” said the source.

FAZ Takes New Role After Elections

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly deployed shadowy Zanu PF affiliate Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) to intimidate and spy on non-governmental organisations (NGOs), a latest report by a local research unit reveals.

FAZ is a registered private voluntary organisation with strong links to the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and is run by the spy organisation’s deputy director-general, retired Brigadier-General Walter Tapfumaneyi

Mnangagwa is accused of creating shadowy civic groups to undermine mostly human-rights aligned civic society organisations as he seeks to consolidate his hold on power.

A number of shadowy groups such as the pastors, lawyers and teachers for ED, among others, were formed in the run-up to the August 23 and 24 elections to drive Mnangagwa’s re-election bid.

According to a report titled FAZ, ‘Lawfare and the Menu of Electoral Manipulation’, by Zimbabwe Democracy Institute (ZDI), Mnangagwa deployed FAZ to infiltrate and sabotage civil society organisations (CSOs).

“FAZ has been used to restrict the activities of civil society organisations, which play a vital role in promoting democracy and human rights in Zimbabwe,” it said.

“FAZ group, which is made up of former military personnel and CIO operatives and led by CIO deputy director Walter Tapfumaneyi, is being used by Zanu PF to spy on and harass CSOs.”

ZDI principal researcher Bekezela Gumbo told NewsDay that FAZ has been monitoring CSO activities and disrupting their work.

“This has also led to self-censorship among civil society people,” Gumbo said.

“Calling people to meetings which are hosted by non-governmental organisations has been difficult due to the heavy presence of FAZ in their community.

“Some of these people, who would have been invited to the meetings by the CSOs, are afraid that their personal information will not be safe, hence the risk of being harassed.”

Gumbo said many CSOs had been silenced as a result.

“Many CSOs are now afraid to be vocal, they now self-censor,” he said.

“The environment is tense and it’s now just a survival strategy so that they get registered in Zimbabwe.

“The NGOs are now just docile as they are being intimidated by FAZ.”

The report also indicated that Mnangagwa was using a lawfare strategy to suppress CSOs.

“Lawfare strategy used by the Zanu PF government is the use of various legal instruments to restrict the activities and funding of civil society organisations, which play a vital role in promoting democracy and human rights in Zimbabwe.”

Contacted for comment, FAZ president Kudakwashe Munsaka said the ZDI report was mischievous and meant to tarnish the image of the Zanu PF affiliate.

“It’s actually funny how they are accusing FAZ of spying on other NGOs when they are the ones who are doing something that is unprecedented,” Munsaka, who lost the race for the Binga North parliamentary seat to Citizens Coalition for Change’s Prince Dubeko Sibanda, told NewsDay.

“The ZDI is just playing politics, there is no substance to what they are saying. They actually want to paint FAZ into some monster.

“Yes, FAZ has been functioning since August last year and if you want to measure the impact of FAZ in the political scene, it’s about intimate voter contact and FAZ has not made a secret about that.”

Zanu PF acting director for information, Farai Marapira, also dismissed the ZDI report.

“It’s just an institution of the opposition which has run out of ideas. All those allegations are actually false,” Marapira said.

Several election observer groups flagged FAZ for undermining the August 23 and 24 elections by, among other things, intimidating voters through voter exit surveys.

The CCC has rejected the election results citing several irregularities such as intimidation of voters by FAZ.

The Nelson Chamisa-led opposition party is demanding fresh elections supervised by the African Union and the Southern African Development Community, but Zanu PF has ignored the demand.

Mnangagwa’s Sham Elections Victory Dismissed By The Church

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has called for “honest and inclusive dialogue” after August 23’s disputed elections.

The ZCC, representing most of the country’s traditional churches, said whilst the elections were held in relative peace, the elections were “characterised by significant flaws.”

“The church expresses its disappointment in that though the elections were soaked in prayer resulting in peace, tolerance and restraint, they fell significantly short of the elections we wanted and prayed for as they have once again produced a contested presidential result,” the ZCCC said in a statement.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was declared winner with 52.6 percent of the vote, with challenger Nelson Chamisa polling 44 percent, according to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

Regional and international observer missions said the election failed to meet the standards of democratic elections, while Chamisa has demanded fresh elections.

The ZCC flagged the late delivery of ballot papers to opposition strongholds and the activities of the Forever Association of Zimbabwe, a Zanu-PF-affiliated group which set up desks near polling stations purportedly to conduct “exit polls.”

“The exit poll that was allegedly led by the organisation resulted in widespread intimidation of voters since it involved the taking down of voters’ personal details,” the ZCC said.

“Voters also faced challenges due to coercion, missing names in the voters roll, electoral disinformation and intimidation of voters especially in rural areas.”

The churches called on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission “to be fully transparent and release results that are verifiable and auditable.”

“This is not only important because it is mandated by law, but it enhances people’s trust and confidence in elected leaders and is essential in building unity, love and peace as we all seek to work together for the betterment of our country.”

The ZCC said the results showed that Zimbabweans are “deeply divided” and called for “urgent redress through a holistic process of nation building and envisioning.”

The churches added: “As the church, being cognizant of the deep divisions and polarity the elections have created, and the desire of Zimbabweans for peace, and the need for unity, the ZCC reiterates its call for honest and inclusive dialogue and engagement towards establishing a firm foundation for the transformation of our country.”

The ZCC said it would engage the country’s political leadership “seeking to build a better Zimbabwe through dialogue, engagement and national reimagination.”

Churches under the ZCC include the Roman Catholic Church, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church of Africa, Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army.

Our Attendance Is Not An Endorsement Of Mnangagwa, Says CCC

The Citizens Coalitions for Change (CCC) has said it has not endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa after its legislators were sworn in yesterday at the new Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.

The CCC had earlier hinted at boycotting the event in protest over alleged electoral fraud.

The CCC is demanding a fresh election supervised by Sadc and the African Union.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba said their attendance was not an endorsement of Mnangagwa’s victory.

“This is not an endorsement of Zanu PF’s alleged win, but just protocol. We cannot endorse electoral theft,” Siziba said

CCC national organising secretary Amos Chibaya, however, complained that party members were harassed for flaunting yellow ties.

“I think it’s Zanu PF members who don’t want to see anything yellow. The yellow ties had no party symbols,” he said.

Zanu PF has 136 Members of Parliament (MPs) and 33 Senators. The CCC has 73 MPs and 27 Senators.

In separate interviews, CCC and Zanu PF MPs said they were excited after being sworn in.

Kadoma legislator Gift Mambipiri (CCC) said his mandate was to fulfil the wishes of the people who elected him.

“I promise that the people’s vote will never go to waste,” he said.

Cowdray Park MP Pashor Sibanda (CCC) said their party wanted to reconstruct the agenda of Parliament.

“We have seen how Parliament has been abused before,” Sibanda, who defeated outgoing Finance minister Mthuli Ncube, said.

Hwedza South legislator Tinoda Machakaire (Zanu PF) said: “It’s not about coming to Parliament to make noise, but it’s about coming to develop and give the nation what we can do, what we were voted for by our constituencies for the betterment of our country.”

Chikomba West legislator Tatenda Mavetera (Zanu PF) said: “Being in Parliament is a mandate that we have been given by the people and we have to represent their interests more and push for legislation.”

ZAPU Blasts ANC Over Opportunistic Relationship With Zanu PF

The Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of having an opportunistic relationship with the ruling Zanu PF party in Zimbabwe.

These sentiments come after the ANC publicly endorsed Zanu PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa as the winner of Zimbabwe’s disputed elections, with reports indicating the two southern African ruling parties are involved in “delicate talks.”

ZAPU, which was once allied with the ANC during the liberation struggle in both countries, said the ANC’s current partnership with Zanu PF was based on “gifts and presents” rather than shared ideology.

“We are wise enough to understand that some individuals in the ANC enjoy a political relationship with Zanu PF which is based on gifts and presents more than it is ideological,” said ZAPU National Spokesperson, Msongelwa Ndlovu in an interview with CITE.

“It is a different animal to the ANC of Oliver Reginald Tambo whose foundation was the Freedom Charter. This ANC is doing everything against the core values of the Freedom Charter when it comes to the Zimbabwean question,” he said.

“It is an absolute disgrace for a party which was persecuted for its relationship with ZAPU to shift allegiance only because their nemesis is in a position of privilege. We have been tempted to denounce the ANC and cut ties completely, but we’re aware that the real ANC will never change,” Ndlovu said.

Ndlovu also claimed ZAPU was aware that a South African wealthy businessman, entrepreneur and investor, one Zunaid Moti, was at the centre of “oiling the relationship between ANC and Zanu PF.”

Ndlovu, said the ANC had “molested” the core values of the Freedom Charter, the ANC’s founding document, in its pursuit of personal gain.

Ndlovu also claimed that a South African businessman, Zunaid Moti, was at the centre of “oiling the relationship between the ANC and Zanu PF.”

He said Moti had supported a tour of South African celebrities and regional journalists in Zimbabwe prior to the country’s elections.

Ndlovu remarked that the current leadership of the ANC have hijacked the revolutionary movement in order to commercialise it.

“There is an evident and deliberate purge of freedom fighters in the ANC disguised as a renewal process. The current ANC of labour unionists and student activists is closer to White monopoly capital than it is to the ordinary people whose living shield is the Freedom Charter. We hope that one day South Africans will restore this glorious movement back to its founding values,” said the ZAPU spokesperson.

He called on South Africans to restore the ANC to its founding values.

Details Of Gruesome Harare Murder Cases Emerge

GRUESOME details have emerged on how cannibal murder suspect Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu mercilessly took the lives of six people on the streets of Harare before eating their body parts.

Ndlovu appeared in court this Thursday where he was remanded in custody to Monday next week after requesting to seek the assistance of a legal practitioner.

Ndlovu is accused of killing six people in Harare’s Central Business District in the space of a week by allegedly crushing their heads before eating the victims’ body parts.

It is a story that has sent shivers down many a spine as the man whose name speaks of the love of God is accused of having gone against one of the Ten Commandments, mercilessly cannibalising his victims within a week of terror on the streets of Harare.

With the long arm of the law having caught up with him, Ndlovu appeared in court this Thursday where he was not asked to plead and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Horrific details of how he allegedly tormented his victims emerged with the court being told that on the 28th of August, Ndlovu approached the late Emmanuel Godfrey who was asleep on a pavement near Chinengundu Building at the corner of George Silundika Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street in Harare, where he crushed Chinengundu’s head using a concrete block.

The accused is alleged to have killed the victim and slit open his stomach and took some body parts which are yet to be established.

The accused was allegedly at it again on the 31st of August when he approached another victim who was asleep at the corner of Inez Terrace and Robert Mugabe Roads, where he used the same modus operandi to kill the victim.

Ndlovu also stands accused of the brutal murder of four other people using the same method.

The suspect ran out of luck on the 4th of this month after detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, got information linking him to the offences.

The Ndlovu case has sent shockwaves in Harare with those living and working on the streets now fearing for their safety.

Experts Speak Teen Pregnancies

WOMEN’S rights organisations are advocating for mentorship programmes in communities and schools to curb teenage pregnancies in the wake of revelations that 21 percent of child births between 2019 and 2022 were adolescents.

Findings from a new National Assessment on Adolescent Pregnancies in Zimbabwe conducted by the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR) in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, UNICEF, UNESCO and UNFPA has revealed a worrying trend of teenage pregnancies from as young as 10 years old, with some of them testing positive for HIV.

It is in this context that women’s rights organisations are calling for more education and mentorship programmes to empower the girl child.

Executive Director for the Women’s Action Group, Mrs. Edinah Masiyiwa said, “We have noted with concern that young women have no information around issues of sex and sexuality, they don’t have information on the consequences of having premarital sex when they are very young. So, it’s something we are also focusing on, trying to raise awareness on the disadvantages or the consequences of early sexual debut.”

“What we are also noticing is that there is no fear of getting pregnant as compared to contracting HIV and I think as a country we should give those messages that we were giving in the early 90s of HIV and we shouldn’t target the older generation only but we should also include young people. Parents are also not spending more time with their children,” she added.

Whispers programmes manager, Tendai Chatikobo said, “The main drivers in teen pregnancies is probably the lack of access to education for most young girls, the lack of access to materials for them to be occupied with things that will lead to them being empowered. I think we are beginning to see that a lot of young girls especially in vulnerable communities are struggling. Who is to blame? We cannot speak of blame as such but we can speak of the circumstances surrounding the happenings.

“We ought to go and analyse these situations and eliminate cases of any violence, cases of poverty that are driving these young girls to be subjected to activities that lead to pregnancy to try and attain a way of survival. After we eliminate that, we also try and see how best to capacitate them so that they can pursue their studies or they can pursue courses that can empower them and to give them motivation through mentorship.”

According to the report, an estimated 1 706 946 Antenatal Care bookings were made in 1 560 healthcare facilities from 2019-2022 among women of childbearing age.

Of these, 21% were among adolescents aged between 10 and 19.

The study found that pregnant and adolescent mothers were found in all geographical locations but mostly concentrated in rural areas, mining, and farming communities, and were more likely to be from single-parent households or staying with non-biological parents.

Adolescents either voluntarily engaged in sex or were coerced by their partners while very few were sexually abused.

Ramos Returns To La Liga

Former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos is returning to his boyhood club Sevilla as a free agent, the LaLiga side said on Monday.

ESPN reported on Sunday that the 37-year-old was in advanced talks with the Spanish club after his contract with the Ligue 1 champions expired this summer.

Sources added that Ramos attracted interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad, Galatasaray, FC Porto and MLS but has opted for Sevilla as he prefers to stay closer to home.

“Sergio arrived at our youth academy at the age of seven and progressed through the youth ranks until he made his debut in the first reserve team at the age of 16 in the 2002-03 season,” Sevilla said in a statement.

“Our academy’s centre-back… returns home almost two decades after leaving at the age of 19 for Real Madrid.”

The defender moved to PSG on a free transfer in 2021 after failing to reach an agreement to extend his 16-year stay at Madrid. He won two Ligue 1 titles during his two seasons in France.

At Madrid he won four Champions League titles and five LaLiga trophies, playing a total of 671 games and scoring 101 goals.

Spain’s most capped international player also won the World Cup in 2010 and two European Championships before announcing his international retirement in February.- Soccer24 News

Nation Wary Of Rising Teen Pregnancies

Cannibal Murder Suspect Nabbed

Mnangagwa Targets Bhora Musango Cadres

By-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF has cracked the whip and summoned its disqualified and disgruntled aspiring candidate for Chipinge South — Mr Robert Nyemudzo — for a disciplinary hearing for allegedly orchestrating a bhora musango which is blamed for the party’s failure to retain the seat.Zanu PF was represented by Cde Enock Porusingazi, who lost the seat to opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate, Mr Clifford Hlatswayo.
This is despite the fact that CCC aspiring candidate for Chipinge South — Mr Army Maunde — had lodged his papers as an independent candidate to protest against his controversial disqualification and replacement by Mr Hlatswayo.
Mr Nyemudzo, who is also accused of setting parallel party structures in the district, is expected to appear before the provincial disciplinary committee chaired by Cde Linda Matatu, on September 15, at the party’s provincial offices in Mutare.
A letter written by Cde Matatu, which also serves as a prohibition order barring Mr Nyemudzo from executing party business until the finalisation of the matter reads: “This letter serves as a notice to appear before the provincial disciplinary committee on 15th of September 2023 to answer or respond to the following allegations:
“It is alleged that you funded a bhora musango in Chipinge South Constituency to the point of celebrating Zanu PF loss.
“It is alleged that you are creating parallel structures in Chipinge, vying for a District Coordinating Committee (DCC) position. Please note that in terms of provisions of the party constitution, this notice serves as a prohibition order which means that you are not authorised to carry out party duties until this matter is discharged.”
Efforts to get in touch with Mr Nyemudzo were fruitless as he was not answering his mobile phone.
Zanu PF provincial chairman, Cde Tawanda Mukodza confirmed the development.
“Yes, it is true, we are hauling him before the disciplinary committee to answer the outlined charges. We cannot let this cancer continue, otherwise it will get out of hand and spoil everything. It is important that in circumstances like this, the party shows its teeth,” he said.
Problems in Chipinge South constituency followed the disqualification after Mr Nyemudzo had emerged victorious in the Zanu PF primary elections after beating Cde Porusingazi, but was disqualified for operating an illegal brewery at Checheche Town.
Mr Nyemudzo was later convicted by Chipinge magistrate, Mr Franklin Mkwananzi, and jailed two years for contravening the Harmful Liquids Act, Chapter 9:10.
Mr Nyemudzo then appealed to a superior court. Manica Post

Mnangagwa Re-Appoints Kembo “Manyengavana” Mohadi As Vice President

By-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has re-appointed sex scandal Kembo Mohadi as one of his deputies.

This was two years after Mohadi was fired for having sexual relationships with his married female ladies.

But on Friday, Mnangagwa returned Mohadi unashamedly.

Constantino Chiwenga, who became the sole vice president following Mohadi’s exit in March 2021, also took his oath of office in front of Chief Justice Luke Malaba at State House.
Mnangagwa has been under pressure from the Zanu PF women’s league which has been lobbying for the elevation of a woman to the position.
Criticism of Mohadi’s re-appointment came from women’s groups, rights activists and the opposition.
“The presidium remains male-dominated with President Mnangagwa appointing Chiwenga and Mohadi as the vice presidents of Zimbabwe. More political will is needed to recognise the role of women’s leadership in nation building and development,” the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) said.
Mohadi’s re-appointment “provides a window into the moral decadence that is emblematic of the kakistocracy in charge of Zimbabwe affairs,” said academic and media analyst Mthulisi Mathuthu.
Rights lawyer Doug Coltart wrote on X: “Any regime that consistently promotes and protects sexual predators, convicted rapists, and paedophiles should be opposed by all right-thinking people.”
A major ZimLive expose revealed how Mohadi used his office to lure several young women into having sex with him, sometimes at his government office.
He also pursued young women after offering to pay their college fees.
The scandal erupted after Mohadi was confronted by the husband of an intelligence officer who caught wind of his affair with his wife. The man also works for the Central Intelligence Organisation.
Mohadi resigned in shame, stating at the time: “I am taking the decision to step down as the vice president of Zimbabwe, to save the image of my government. My decision to relinquish the vice president post is also a way of respecting the citizens of this great nation, my party comrades, some of whom have been affected by the falsehoods and character assassination in the digital ecosystems.”
Despite his resignation, Mohadi maintained the perks of a vice president and was often seen with a blue lights escort. Leaked government papers also showed that the local government ministry was supplying him fuel to carry out Zanu PF campaign activities, including a countrywide tour visiting traditional leaders.
Citizens Coalition for Change activist Tapiwanashe Chiriga observed: “People who say Mohadi bounced back surprise me. Mohadi had all perks of a vice president and moved across the country on the state dime meeting traditional leaders. It was him who authored the August 23 election intimidation script.”
Speaking after he was sworn-in on Friday, Mohadi said: “I’m here to serve the nation. I’ve been serving the nation since the coming of the second republic and I will continue to do so. We’ve our own agenda that we have set for ourselves. We’ve a vision that we’re going to fulfill.”
Mnangagwa is expected to announce his cabinet next week after MPs and Senators were sworn in on Thursday.

Man in soup for marital r_ape

By A Correspondent- A 28 year old man appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa yesterday facing a marital rape charge.

He was granted US$20 bail and ordered to return to court on October 31 for trial.

State prosecutor Pardon Dziva said on July 18 this year at 2000hrs, The perpetrator who cannot be named to protect the dignity of the victim was walking with his wife to their residence in Kuwadzana 3 new stands.

Along the way, he demanded to be intimate with her in the bush but she refused.

He, however, forced himself on her.

After the act, they went home and the complainant narrated her ordeal to the landlord.

The man begged her not to report him to police.

On August 4 this year, she reported the matter to police following a domestic dispute.

Pastor hauled to court over maintenance

A Bulawayo-based pastor who is also founder of Anchor of Christ International Ministries is in hot soup after he was dragged to court by his estranged wife over maintenance arrears.

Pastor Decide Chauke was dragged to maintenance court last week by his estranged wife Caroline Chauke demanding US$100 being arrears from the US$350 he was ordered to pay by the court for the upkeep of their two minor children aged 9 and 11.

This was after he paid US$250 instead of US$350.

This was also after his estranged wife made strenuous efforts to engage him but without success.

He was arguing that he spent the entire month of August with their two children.

He appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Makelo Ncube and in his defence he argued saying there was no reason to pay it since he spent the entire August holiday with their children.

However, the magistrate cautioned him for violating the court order before she ordered him to pay that balance of US$100 within seven days.

Chauke was initially dragged to court in May this year after he failed to cater for their minor children and deserted home to stay at their church premises in Bulawayo’s Romney Park suburb.

His estranged wife applied for US$500 for the upkeep of their children before Chauke disputed the claim saying it was “too much” since he was not employed.

He was however, ordered to pay US$350 being US$100 to each child and US$150 to his estranged wife for a period of 18 months or until she secures a job.

The court also ordered him to pay for the children’s school fees and uniforms and to buy clothes for their children after every six months until they attain the legal age of majority.-BMetro

Masarira “Demands” Female Vice President

Open letter to HE Mnangagwa

8 September 2023

Dear HE Cde ED Mnangagwa In 2018, I personally raised eyebrows on the appointment of Vice Presidents, which did not consider a woman for Vice Presidency.

Today, Mr President, you have appointed two men again making the executive a men’s affair. Mr President, when you took oath on the 4th of September 2023 affirming that you will be faithful to Zimbabwe and will obey, uphold and defend the constitution and all the other laws of Zimbabwe.

By the very same oath you took Mr President, let me remind you of section 17 of the constitution of Zimbabwe which enshrines gender balance. Section 17 falls under national objectives which guide state, all institutions and agencies of government.

Women in Zimbabwe always feel shortchanged when it comes to leadership yet they constitute 54% of the voting population. Selective application of the constitution continues to structurally undermine women’s rights in political participation and appointment to key offices in Zimbabwe.

We are just demanding for at least one woman Vice President, a gender balanced cabinet and gender balance to be observed as enshrined in the constitution of Zimbabwe. There is no democracy without women.

We will not tire to demand what rightfully belongs to the women’s movement.

Kind regards Linda Tsungirirai Masarira

Man who snatched friend’s wife bashed

A Plumtree man is regretting introducing his friend to his wife as the latter later snatched her.

Nembaware commuted the sentence to 210 hours of community service.

Prosecutors said on August 17 around 10pm,  Ndlovu went to Sipethokhuhle’s parent’s house and found her seated in Ncube’s car.

ED Unleashes FAZ on CSOs

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly deployed shadowy Zanu-PF affiliate Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) to intimidate and spy on non-governmental organisations (NGOs), a latest report by a local research unit reveals.

“FAZ group, which is made up of former military personnel and CIO operatives and led by CIO deputy director Walter Tapfumaneyi, is being used by Zanu-PF to spy on and harass CSOs.”

The environment is tense and it’s now just a survival strategy so that they get registered in Zimbabwe.

“The NGOs are now just docile as they are being intimidated by FAZ.”

The report also indicated that Mnangagwa was using a lawfare strategy to suppress CSOs.

“Lawfare strategy used by the Zanu-PF government is the use of various legal instruments to restrict the activities and funding of civil society organisations, which play a vital role in promoting democracy and human rights in Zimbabwe.”

Contacted for comment, FAZ president Kudakwashe Munsaka said the ZDI report was mischievous and meant to tarnish the image of the Zanu-PF affiliate.

Zanu-PF acting director for information, Farai Marapira, also dismissed the ZDI report.

The Nelson Chamisa-led opposition party is demanding fresh elections supervised by the African Union and the Southern African Development Community, but Zanu-PF has ignored the demand.-newsday

Car thief left in birthday suit

In a brutal act of mob justice, a suspected thief only identified as Thembani found himself at the receiving end of an irate mob which beat him up before stripping him naked after he allegedly broke into a car in Bulawayo’s central business district.

The incident happened on 4 September and Thembani will apparently have bad memories about the day after he was caught red-handed trying to steal from a car which was parked at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Fort Street.

Things turned horribly for him when the owner of the car saw him smashing a rear window of his car and dashed to it. Noticing that he had been seen, Thembani took to his heels.

They then rained blows on him while others kicked him and hurled insults at him. They then tore his shirt and a pair of trousers.

One of the women dished out horrific punishment when she removed his underwear leaving him stark naked.

While he was on the ground being pummelled some of the people had lighter moments as they took pictures of him while some poked fun at his manhood.

Some of the women claimed that Thembani was a serial thief and they had lost a number of items to him.

Two police officers who were passing by intervened and stopped the irate mob from beating the alleged thief.

They took him to Bulawayo Central Police Station.

Thembani is also believed to be part of thieves who operate along 6th Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street.-BMetro

Robbers force Intimacy on lovers

CCC Spokesperson Tweets From Outside The Country

HARARE – Citizens Coalition for Change spokesman Promise Mkwananzi has fled the country after police on Thursday offered a US$1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Police said Mkwananzi was wanted over two outstanding arrest warrants for public order offences allegedly committed in 2020.

A police statement also named Clayd Mashozhera and Noel Munhuweyi as wanted suspects in a case of assault and malicious damage to property after allegedly setting a vehicle on fire in Sunningdale on August 23.

“A reward of US$1,000 is being offered to anyone who supplies credible information leading to the location and subsequent arrest of the suspects,” the statement said.

Mkwananzi was hours old in his new job when plain clothes police officers grabbed his speech and disrupted his press conference on August 26. The news conference followed disputed elections held on August 23.

To explain their actions, police later said they wanted to arrest Mkwananzi over outstanding warrants.

“Following protracted efforts to get me detained for no crime other than speaking out against a sham election, I have summarily left the country,” Mkwananzi said in a statement on Thursday.

“I will continue to do my work and fight for change from my new station until the Zimbabwean crisis has been resolved which is not long, trust me. Once again, I wish to reiterate that I have no pending cases with the police. I was cleared of all the flimsy charges previously placed against me. My resolve to fight for change runs deeper than they can imagine.”

Mkwananzi was appointed CCC spokesperson in the build up to the August 23 elections, replacing Fadzayi Mahere, the new MP for Mount Pleasant.

“Help is on the way”: Chamisa

By A Correspondent- Nelson Chamisa, leader of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has reiterated that international assistance is on its way to help resolve election disputes.

Chamisa contested the presidential election result, alleging rigging after President Emmerson Mnangagwa was declared the winner by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) with 52.6% of the vote. Chamisa has dispatched aides to regional countries to seek support for fresh elections.

After a five-day absence from Twitter, Chamisa posted on Sunday, September 3, 2023, including a Bible verse in his statement. He wrote:

HELP IS ON THE WAY…Be of good cheer Zimbabwe !! ‘He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the LORD’s hand is powerful, and so you might fear the LORD your God forever.’ Joshua 4:24.

On Wednesday, the party reposted Chamisa’s post calling for patience prompting some members of the public to express pessimism, believing that ZANU PF’s victory is irreversible.

They cited the swearing-in of CCC councillors and the upcoming swearing-in of Members as an endorsement of the disputed results. Calls were made for the formation of a new opposition party and messages of hope for the future.

Others compared the situation to the Israelites in Egypt, feeling trapped and resigned. Some questioned the logic of attending the swearing-in ceremony while demanding a re-run of the elections. Opinions varied on the effectiveness of CCC and the need for alternative strategies, including civic disobedience and diplomatic pressure.

Moral of Andersen’s Emperor’s New Clothes is the dangers of mob-rule. Mnangagwa is illegitimate, naked!

By Wilbert Mukori- Ever since the day SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) led by Dr Nevers Mumba of Zambia released their preliminary report condemning the 23 August 2023 as flawed and illegal, Emmerson Mnangagwa and his apologists and toads have declare war on Dr Mumba.

They have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at him; to discredit him in the vain hope by discrediting him they discredit the SEOM report!

“President Hichilema throws Mumba under the bus!” proclaimed Nkululeko Nkomo, in Bulawayo 24 article.

“Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has distanced himself from a report by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Head of Electoral Observation Mission in the just-ended elections, Dr. Nevers Sikwela, that alleged electoral irregularities in Zimbabwe,” Nkomo explained.

“Last Monday, President Hichilema sent his Foreign Affairs Minister, Stanley Kakubo, to the inauguration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. This move was seen as a sign that he did not endorse the report’s findings.

“President Hichilema has not commented publicly on the report, but his actions suggest that he does not believe that Mumba’s report was accurate. By sending his Foreign Affairs Minister to the inauguration, he essentially endorsed President Mnangagwa’s victory.”

And, in Nkomo’s infantile wisdom, THAT is tantamount to President Hichilema “throwing Dr Mumba under the bus”!

Everyone with half a brain knows that Zimbabwe was forced to form the 2008 to 2013 GNU after the country failed to hold free, fair and credible elections. The primary purpose of that GNU was to implement the democratic reforms to stop the blatant cheating and wanton violence of 2008. SADC leaders wanted the 2013 elections postponed because not even one token reform was implemented.

“If you participate in next month’s elections, you will lose. The elections are done!” SADC leaders warned Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends at the June 2013 SADC Summit in Maputo, Mozambique.

Alas! MDC leaders paid no heed to the advice and we all know Zanu PF went now to blatantly rig those elections. SADC, in sheer exasperation, went on to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy knowing fully well that the elections were flawed and illegal.

MDC leaders acknowledge they had made a fatal mistake in participating in the 2013 elections without implementing the reforms. MDC-T resolved at their 2014 party congress they would not participate in future elections without first implementing the reforms. “No reforms, no elections!” they chanted.

After a year they ditched the “No reforms, no elections!” They participated in the 2018 elections with no reforms for the same reasons they participated in the 2013 elections and had failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU – greed and breath-taking incompetence.

In like fashion SADC once again granted Zanu PF political legitimacy in 2018 as in 2013 knowing fully well the elections were flawed and illegal. Dr Nevers Mumba and his fellow SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) team pointed the election flaws and illegalities that everyone in SADC and AU knew were there but did not dare admit.

The SEOM team was nothing more that the little boy who pointed out that the Emperor was naked in the classical folktale, The Emperor’s New Clothes by  Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The moral of the tale was to illustrate the dangers of conformity and mob rule.

SEOM report mere pointed out the lie that Zimbabwe elections were free, fair and credible and got the gene out of the bottle. The reaction of the Zanu PF regime and its apologists was an all out attack on Dr Mumba; the region could not deny the election process was flawed and illegal, the message, and so went after the messenger.

One only hopes that SADC and AU will not be bullied and bamboozled by Mnangagwa and his hounds into granting vote rigging Zanu PF political legitimacy.

Who Is Protecting Muvevi?

Legal experts say the commitment of multiple murder suspect Jaison Muvevi to a psychiatric hospital this Wednesday does not mean he is off the hook.

Muvevi, who faces four counts of murder, was this Tuesday adjudged unfit to stand trial due to mental challenges.

The ruling has been subject to multiple interpretations from various quotas, with some disappointed that he has been let off the hook.

“The latest judgment means that the suspect is going to receive mental treatment until such a time. This does not mean he is going home but he is still facing allegations of murder and attempted murder. But what happened is that the court, after reviewing psychiatric reports from two different doctors saw it fit to place him in a psychiatric unit,” said legal expert, Mr Cosam Gohori.

Another legal expert, Mrs Muriel Hondonga said, “It is clear that the court committed Muvevi to a psychiatric hospital after the reports from doctors revealed that he is mentally unstable to stand trial. This does not mean that he is going to be released from prison, but he will be receiving his treatment under the watch of the responsible authorities.”

There was also clarity on the administrative issues surrounding the commitment of a suspect to a psychiatric hospital.

“This is done after the medical practitioners examined one’s mental state and, in this case, Muvevi was found to be mentally unstable.

This is done for two reasons to further the administration of justice and for the safety of the community. So, in this case, Muvevi is not off the hook but he has been placed in an institution where he will be receiving treatment,” said legal expert, Mrs Sekai Magawa.

Another murder suspect, Bright Zhantali, who is accused of killing and raping more than 20 women was also committed to a psychiatric hospital after he was declared mentally unstable.

Before the new price, petrol cost $1.61 while diesel was pegged at $1.65 per litre.

“The prices are for September 2023 based on M-1 and they will be effective up to 3 October 2023. The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E20,” said Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority in a Thursday notice.

Police initially said that 18 people suspected of planning to carry out a cash-in-transit heist had been killed during the shootout. However, on Saturday, police found another body at the scene.
News24 previously reported that officers had responded to information on a planned cash-in-transit heist.

Chamisa MPs, Councilors Sworn-In

All the elected officials from Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), led by Nelson Chamisa, have been sworn in.

The party’s elected legislators and Harare councillors were sworn in today in the capital.
Bulawayo local authority officials did the same yesterday.

This follows confusion regarding the party’s stance on the swearing-in ceremony, as they have rejected the outcome of the August 23-24, 2023 elections.
The CCC rejected the results and cited irregularities such as delayed voting, ballot paper mix-ups, and voter intimidation. Observer missions, including the SADC Election Observer Mission, also noted these irregularities. The CCC has called for fresh elections to be supervised by an “impartial” body, such as SADC, the African Union, or the United Nations, rather than the perceived biased Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

Be Realistic On 2024 Budget, Govt Told

Government has been urged to present the 2024 budget in United States dollars after Finance minister Mthuli Ncube projected a deficit of ZWL$2,3 trillion for next year.

Ncube made the projection in his 2024 budget strategy paper titled: Consolidating Economic Transformation published on the ministry’s website recently.

“The projected revenue for the year 2024 is (ZWL)$30,7 trillion against expenditures of (ZWL)$33,1 trillion, resulting in a budget deficit of (ZWL)$2,3 trillion (1,5% of gross domestic product (GDP),” he said in the paper dated August 11.

“Employment costs will be maintained at levels of below 50% of revenue, while capital expenditures will gradually increase to 5,7% of GDP in order to address the existing infrastructure gap.

“Re-establishing macro-economic stability and the creation of an enabling business environment will be crucial in building resilience of the economy to domestic and external shocks, as well as facilitating private sector-led economic recovery and growth.”

Coalition for Market and Liberal Solutions executive director, Rejoice Ngwenya said government must do away with the local currency in the 2024 budget.

“The Zimbabwe dollar is subject to massive inflationary forces, so one can’t predict beyond one year,” Ngwenya said.

“Our economy must be geared towards multi-billion-dollar configuration, not this worthless paper.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa reintroduced the local currency in 2019 after a decade of dolllarisation.

Mnangagwa has resisted calls to redollarise after the local currency lost significant value, leaving many workers demanding salaries in United States dollars.

Economist Gift Mugano questioned Ncube’s 2024 budget projections.

“In view of the fact that Treasury spent ZWL$747,5 billion in the first half of the year, what is the justification that it will spend ZWL$4,2 trillion in the last half of the year?,” Mugano asked.

“In view of the fact that Treasury anticipates to exceed its current budget by five times in 2023, what is the rationale of Ncube predicting to spend ZWL$33 trillion in 2024, that is, ZWL$8 trillion more than the current budget of ZWL$25,6 trillion?”

National Consumer Rights Association spokesperson, Effie Ncube said consumers were suffering because of the country’s bad politics.

“The economy won’t go anywhere, and no budget can rescue it unless and until the country changes the way it does politics and reduces political risk factors,” Ncube said

“Our political environment is noisy, messy, repulsive and not pro-economic development and our bad international relations are driving investors away.”

Zim Man Jailed In UK For Raping Under Age Girl

By A Correspondent| A Coventry man has been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of raping a child under the age of 13.

Khumbulani Sibanda was convicted at trial and told he must serve at least 10 years behind bars after abusing the young child.

The “dangerous offender” will spend a further three years on extended licence, or eight if he is released after 10 years in prison. He will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The 43-year-old committed his crimes between 2016 and 2018 but his crimes did not come to light until January 2021.

Detective Constable Suzanne Leah said: “The child was so young, they would not necessarily have understood how badly they were being abused. Sibanda completely took advantage of the child’s young age and innocence for his own sexual gratification, and I am pleased the length of the sentence reflects the severity of his crimes.”

Sibanda, now of Fosse Road South in Leicester, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday (August 24). He was also sentenced to 12 weeks each for sexual assault and exposure, which will run concurrently.

Chamisa Makes a Vow: Even Against All Odds, CHANGE Must Prevail

In a resolute message posted on Twitter, opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has vowed to persevere “even against all odds” in the face of what he described as a “flawed, rigged, manipulated, stolen, and discredited election.”

Chamisa’s message comes as a rallying call to his supporters and fellow citizens who, he claims, “overwhelmingly voted for CHANGE across the rural and urban divide.”

With determination in his words, Chamisa declared, “That CHANGE must happen and be felt. We will not compromise on this! Together, we lead!” The tweet was accompanied by the hashtags #ForEveryone and #Godisinit, indicating Chamisa’s belief in divine intervention and his commitment to representing all citizens.

Chamisa’s statement comes as a response to the controversial election results that have been a subject of contention in recent weeks.

His supporters have accused the ruling party of unfair tactics and electoral manipulation, leading to widespread protests and calls for electoral transparency.

The CCC leader’s unwavering resolve to press for change in the face of adversity has resonated with many of his followers. His call for unity and persistence in the pursuit of a better future has sparked conversations across social media platforms, with supporters expressing their solidarity and determination to see change come to fruition.

Two Men Remanded in Custody for Murder and Suspected Stolen Property in Claremont Tragedy.

killed… Raymond Mutasa

  • Two individuals, aged 34 and 61, are to remain in custody pending their bail application on charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property and the murder of Raynold Mutasa (37), a beloved local waiter in Claremont. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, August 24.

According to Lt Col Marnus Fourie, Vispol Commander for Claremont police, the two suspects did not enter a plea when they appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 28. Their legal representatives are expected to consult with them before entering a plea. They will next appear in court on Tuesday, September 12.

Meanwhile, the local restaurant where Mutasa, a Zimbabwean national, had worked as a waiter in Newlands for over two years, has initiated a fundraiser to repatriate his remains to his family in Zimbabwe.

Christina Gorrini, Mutasa’s employer and manager of Mama Roma, described him as a “big teddy bear” and emphasized his popularity and the sadness surrounding his death. She said, “Ray’s warm presence and kind spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He was a pillar of kindness and charm… he never fought with anybody and was simply a wonderful person.”

Mutasa is survived by his 10-year-old son, a sister, and a brother, all of whom live across the border in Zimbabwe.

Gorrini conveyed her message of condolences on Facebook, and she told People’s Post that donations from clients and locals were pouring in to support funeral arrangements and provide assistance to Mutasa’s family. The goal is to raise at least R50,000 to send his remains back to Zimbabwe, considering the expenses involved in preparing the body, placing it in a sealed steel coffin, and transporting it over a considerable distance.

The tragic incident unfolded when Mutasa encountered the two men charged with his murder on the morning of August 24. The suspects allegedly approached him as he was returning to his flat on Frederick Road, and the events that followed led to their arrest.

Local security forces became suspicious when they saw the two men wearing Mutasa’s jacket, which he had been wearing earlier that evening. Claremont Improvement District Corporation (CIDC) security was called to assist, and the suspects were subsequently searched, revealing additional items in their possession, including a watch with a broken strap, a silver chain, and a cellphone.

The following morning, Mutasa’s lifeless body was discovered by security from the Vineyard Hotel in Frederick Road, near a block of flats.

Christina Gorrini encouraged anyone willing to contribute to the repatriation fund to visit her restaurant to help bring closure to this tragic story.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Vows to Resurrect Zim Dollar Amidst Continent-Wide Isolation

Emmerson Mnangagwa whose recent inauguration was notably absent of leaders from across the African continent, except for three Presidents, has boldly declared his intention to resurrect the Zimbabwean dollar. His statements were made during his controversial swearing-in ceremony for his second term in office.

Mnangagwa asserted that the local currency serves as the linchpin for Zimbabwe’s economic growth potential over the next five years. This announcement comes after years of economic turmoil, currency instability, and strained international relations.

Zimbabwe had previously adopted a multicurrency system in February 2009, predominantly using the US dollar, as the nation grappled with hyperinflation and economic collapse, with inflation peaking at a staggering 200 percent in August 2008.

At present, Zimbabwe operates under a dual currency monetary regime, marked by the volatility of the domestic currency due to the strong preference for US dollars, which now account for over 76 percent of transactions.

Mnangagwa’s commitment to the local currency reflects a desire to bolster economic autonomy and sovereignty. Relying heavily on foreign currencies can leave a nation vulnerable and limit its capacity to independently pursue economic policies.

The utilization of local currencies offers greater control over monetary policy, capital flow management, and the protection of economic interests. This autonomy empowers countries to respond effectively to economic challenges and tailor policies to their unique domestic needs, promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Analysts and economists have echoed the President’s sentiments, emphasizing that the country stands to benefit more from its own currency. They stress that measures to boost production are essential for achieving faster and more robust growth.

Christopher Mugaga, President of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), has called for dedollarization as a priority for the new government, making the currency transition a key performance indicator (KPI).

To stabilize the Zimbabwean dollar, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has introduced measures to manage liquidity effectively. Analysts argue that excessive reliance on strong foreign currencies, like the US dollar, can hinder the government’s ability to manage monetary policy and diminish export competitiveness.

Economist Dr. Prosper Chitambara highlighted the importance of value addition and beneficiation to maintain currency stability. While using a local currency is crucial, it necessitates fiscal and monetary discipline to avoid economic instability.

Eddie Cross, an economist aligned with Mnangagwa, emphasized the need to transition to a single local currency for domestic transactions to ensure monetary stability. He also stressed the importance of moving away from raw material exports towards higher-value products.

In conclusion, Mnangagwa’s commitment to strengthening the domestic currency reflects Zimbabwe’s determination to achieve sustainable development while asserting economic autonomy and sovereignty. The nation’s path forward includes enhancing its currency, supporting productive sectors, and cultivating a competitive manufacturing base. However, it does so against a backdrop of regional and continental isolation, emphasizing the challenges Zimbabwe faces on the international stage.

Zimbabweans Among 17 Killed in Limpopo Cash-In-Transit Robbery Shootout

1. Mandlakayise Ngcobo, 49
2. Mzwandile Hlongwane, 43
3. Siyabonga Mkhunya, 44

11. Hope Makhavhu, 46
12. Lehlohonolo Tshuto, 41
13. Simbarashe Machingautu, 37
14. Thabo Thipe, 54
15. Ramaisa Dipholo, 36
16. Juliet Mugabe, 27
17. Tshilidzi Maluleke, 36

Five of the deceased were originally from Zimbabwe, while the remainder hailed from Gauteng and Limpopo regions. The process of identifying the remaining two victims is still ongoing, as confirmed by Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke.

Initially, authorities reported that 18 suspected cash-in-transit robbers had been killed in the shootout. However, a further body was discovered at the scene on Saturday, altering the total count.

The incident transpired after law enforcement responded to intelligence about an impending cash-in-transit heist. It is believed that the suspected robbers were preparing to carry out the heist in the Makhado area when they detected police surveillance. In response, they opened fire, leading to a prolonged and intense 90-minute shootout.

Simultaneously, another team of officers apprehended five individuals at a residence in Thohoyandou, who are believed to be linked to the suspected robbers in Makhado. These individuals have been identified as Asanda Maqhawu, 33; Charity Makhwedzana, 34; Ramabele Peta, 47; Vusimuzi Ramabekae, 51; and Sillo Mposi, 48. They have since appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court and face a range of charges, including possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and fraud.

The court has postponed the matter to October 3, 2023, to allow for further investigation into this tragic incident and its associated developments.- News24

Create the SADC Dollar, Demand a Rerun of Elections in Zimbabwe, and Defend African Sovereignty

By Divine Mafa | To the Leaders of the SADC Region and Our Fellow Africans,

We write today with urgency and unwavering resolve, driven by our deep concern for the future of Africa. Our primary objective is to emphasize the urgent need to create a SADC dollar. This proposal is of paramount importance and presents a vital opportunity for our region to secure its sovereignty, prosperity, and self-determination.

Zim dollar in 1980 – file pic

**Creating the SADC Dollar**: Our foremost concern is to advocate for the creation of a SADC dollar. This initiative demands our immediate attention and action. The establishment of a SADC currency is a critical step towards realizing our economic independence and safeguarding our future.

**Demanding a Rerun of Elections in Zimbabwe**: In addition to the SADC dollar, we demand a rerun of elections in Zimbabwe. Recent elections in Zimbabwe serve as a stark example of foreign interference. The constitutional crisis and allegations of rigged elections on August 23rd, which even international observers deemed not free and fair, cannot be ignored. These issues have been deliberately orchestrated to subject Zimbabwe to BRICS influence.

**Illegal Financial Contributions**: It is alarming to note that illegal campaign contributions, totaling up to $3 billion, were used in the elections in Zimbabwe. Debit cards, disguised as membership cards, were given to supporters, allowing them to receive cash secretly. This clandestine operation is a grave violation of our democratic processes. As noted by international observers, such activities eroded the credibility of the polls.

**Challenges to Zimbabwe’s Economic Recovery**: Zimbabwe’s economic crisis and political instability, as highlighted by international observers, have adverse consequences not only for Zimbabwe but for the entire region. The region’s deep-seated economic crisis could potentially plunge the whole region into turmoil.

**A Call to Hold BRICS Accountable for Manipulating Elections**: While we emphasize the creation of the SADC dollar, the demand for fair elections in Zimbabwe, and the exposure of illegal financial contributions, we cannot ignore the significant role played by BRICS nations, particularly Russia and China, in the political turmoil and manipulation of elections within Zimbabwe and across the African continent. It is imperative to address this interference in our democratic processes.

**A Corrupt Partnership**: BRICS, once seen as potential partners, have become architects of chaos, undermining the democratic processes of African nations. We must recognize that they are not our allies in any way, shape, or form.

**Reclaiming African Leadership**: It is time for us, proud Africans, to reassert our leadership and sovereignty. We must boldly stand up for Africa’s interests and future. We reject any attempts to exploit our region for their geopolitical gains.

**The People’s Resolve**: We want to make it abundantly clear that Zimbabwe and other African nations will not stand idly by. Our citizens are resolute and prepared to take action. We are not merely making suggestions; this is a demand, a warning.

**Growing African Solidarity**: Our organization, comprising 100,000 brilliant Africans worldwide, is rapidly expanding, becoming the fastest-growing movement in Africa. The message is clear: we cannot be underestimated. We are united in our demand to break free from BRICS, create the SADC dollar, demand a rerun of elections, and restore Zimbabwe now, after 43 years of hardship and struggle.

The time for action is now, and we urge our leaders to heed this call. Zimbabwe and Africa must no longer be pawns in foreign agendas. We must prioritize our sovereignty, demand a rerun of elections, create the SADC dollar, and determine our own destiny.

Sincerely,

The Essence of Pan-Africanism: A Historical Perspective and Contemporary Relevance

By Divine Mafa | Pan-Africanism is a dynamic ideology rooted in the historical experiences of the African diaspora. It encompasses a broad spectrum of political, social, and cultural movements aimed at uniting people of African descent worldwide. This essay delves into the history of Pan-Africanism, its pivotal figures, and its contemporary significance, with a focus on dispelling misconceptions.

Historical Context:

Pan-Africanism emerged during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a time when the African continent was enduring colonization and exploitation by European powers. The African diaspora, particularly those residing in the Americas and the Caribbean, were deeply affected by the horrors of slavery. This shared history of oppression and exploitation fostered a sense of unity among people of African descent.

Key Figures in Pan-Africanism:

1. **Marcus Garvey:** Marcus Garvey is often considered one of the early pioneers of Pan-Africanism. He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and advocated for the return of Africans to their ancestral homeland. Garvey’s “Back to Africa” movement inspired a generation.

2. **W.E.B. Du Bois:** Du Bois, a prominent African-American scholar and civil rights activist, played a significant role in Pan-Africanism. He organized the Pan-African Congresses in the early 20th century, providing a platform for discussions on African self-determination and the end of colonialism.

3. **Kwame Nkrumah:** Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, was a fervent Pan-Africanist. He believed that African nations should unite to achieve true independence from colonial powers. His leadership in the decolonization of Africa set a precedent for the continent.

Contemporary Relevance:

In the present day, Pan-Africanism remains highly relevant. While colonialism in Africa has ended, the legacy of exploitation and inequality persists. The movement serves as a reminder that people of African descent, regardless of their geographic location, share a common history and must support one another.

Moreover, Pan-Africanism aligns with the pursuit of democracy and human rights. Contrary to misconceptions, it is not an ideology of hate but one of solidarity and empowerment. People of African descent in the United States, for instance, have made significant strides in politics, education, and culture. The presence of Black Americans in leadership positions demonstrates the progress achieved over time.

Conclusion:

Pan-Africanism is a powerful ideology rooted in the shared history of people of African descent. It has evolved from its historical roots to become a force for unity, empowerment, and the pursuit of justice in today’s world. By dispelling misconceptions and embracing the principles of solidarity, Pan-Africanism can continue to inspire positive change for the benefit of all.

Comrades and Friends.

It is my distinguished honour and privilege to be addressing you my fellow Countrymen and Women as well as friends of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe at this auspicious occasion. Allow me, on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe, my Party ZANU PF, and indeed on my own behalf and that of my family, to express my deep gratitude for the kind messages of congratulations we have received following our elections.

In the same spirit, I warmly welcome the various delegations, from the SADC region, Africa, and beyond, who are joining us today for this inauguration ceremony. Your presence attests to the long-standing solidarity and support, Zimbabwe has enjoyed from the progressive members of the comity of nations which date back to the days of our protracted 16-year war of liberation for our Independence and freedom.

The 2023 Harmonised General Elections have come and gone. I once again thank you, my fellow Zimbabweans, for dutifully preserving and safeguarding our national unity and peace, before, during and after the elections. Ndinokutendai mhuri ye Zimbabwe. Ngiyalibonga muli yeZimbabwe.

As Zimbabwe, we have demonstrated that we are a mature democracy. The people of this precious nation, which is born out of the sacred blood of those who fought for our independence, freedom, democracy and indeed the right to vote, have spoken.

Our unparalleled conduct before, during and after the electoral processes is praiseworthy and will be an everlasting standard and benchmark as we continue to deepen and entrench constitutional democracy in our country. There are no losers, but a victory for the people of Zimbabwe against neo-colonial and hegemonic tendencies of our country’s detractors and those who believe that “might is right”.

Counter-revolutionary forces and their proxies will never prevail in our free mother country, Zimbabwe.

Let us now look ahead with unflinching focus and determination, emboldened by our rich history as a resilient, warrior people.

We continue to defy the onslaught of the illegal sanctions as well as the negative narratives peddled by those bent on stunting our country’s development.

Our strength in our diverse cultures, capacities and competencies has seen us realise unprecedented successes towards Vision 2030.

Zimbabwe is surely on the rise. Our national development philosophy, Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa, nevene vayo, Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo, shall continue to be the beacon of our pro-people policies, anchored on Pan-African values and norms. This philosophy sums up our sovereignty as well as the collective duty and obligation we have to develop our country and the African continent.

Fellow Compatriots;

Today, I have once again taken an oath as a humble servant leader and President, committed to wholeheartedly serving you all, the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe.

Under this renewed mandate, I have re-committed to continue faithfully upholding and defending our sacred national Constitution and laws, with integrity and impartiality, leaving no one and no place behind.

I stand before you my fellow Zimbabweans, at this historic moment of our nation as President of all Zimbabweans, regardless of tribe, religion, colour, creed, or political persuasion. I am honoured by the trust and confidence you have reposed in me to continue to serve in the office of President. Through your democratic vote, you have renewed and extended my mandate and that of our colossal revolutionary mass Party, ZANU PF.

I offer to you, individually and collectively, unity, love, oneness and brotherhood, as the people of the great, unitary and independent state of Zimbabwe.

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

My new Government will deliver on the promises we have made to you. The transformation of the living standards of our people, especially those in rural communities, will be accelerated, while the concerns of those in urban areas will not be neglected.

Responsive policies, projects and programmes, which begun during the first term of my Presidency are on course to lift many more people, out of poverty and into prosperity.

The hurdles such as the illegal, heinous sanctions and machinations of our detractors must be knocked out of our way through unity of purpose, hard honest work, innovativeness, resilience, focus and determination. Together as a united people, all challenges can be overcome; brick by brick, stone upon stone, and step by step.

The ongoing success milestones in the agriculture sector will be consolidated during this new term under my leadership. To date, we are food secure in both maize and wheat. All the agriculture sub-sectors have realised unprecedented growth. I commend our farmers as well as stakeholders in the agriculture sector for these achievements. This is indisputable evidence of the success of our Land Reform Programme and the responsive pro-people policies of the Second Republic.

Going forward, my new Government will prioritise guaranteeing this momentum through household and national food security.

The construction of dams, accelerated irrigation development, coupled with the ongoing borehole drilling programme, in every village and school, is set to insulate our agriculture sector from climate change induced weather fluctuations.

Vulnerable districts and areas are now the critical focus.

Rural Development will be implemented at full scale through robust rural agriculture industrialisation models.

This will result in our 35,000 villages country-wide, having productive agro-based companies, owned and run by the benefiting communities. The programme will see a multi-fold increase in rural incomes and sustainable livelihoods.

Concurrent with this thrust is the setting up of rural industries and systems designed to process, value add, beneficiate as well as export agricultural produce. Untapped opportunities exist for more of our people to penetrate the global markets and value chains through quality ‘Made in Zimbabwe’ goods and products.

The success of our agriculture sector has ripple effects to our agro-based manufacturing sector and Industrial base.

The factories that we all desire can only succeed if there is the requisite through-put from agriculture and mining, among other sectors. Therefore, I call upon us to respect each other as a united people, no matter where we live or our economic activities.

Comrades and Friends;

The past five years have delivered valuable lessons on our intricate economy, especially the fact that a national currency that is supported by a vibrant productive sector is indispensable to sustainable development. No country has ever developed without its own currency. Further, we can only develop and grow the economy based on our own internal resources.

I urge us all to believe in ourselves and our abilities, as Zimbabweans and Africans. Development and national prosperity based on what we have is more sustainable and durable. We must take pride in who we are and what we can do for ourselves.

The numerous mineral resources in our country must be sustainably exploited to leap-frog our industrialisation and development. The lives of our citizens and the fortunes of our country as a whole must be improved. We expect nothing less.

Our economy must realise maximum benefits from increased beneficiation and value addition. As such, my new Administration, through the Responsible Mining Initiative, will ensure greater stewardship over our finite natural resources. These must benefit both present and future generations.

Riding on our abundant resources, as well as skilled and hard-working people, Zimbabwe is poised to take its place as a competitive manufacturing jurisdiction.

I exhort industry and commerce stakeholders to be patriotic and always seek an intricate balance between profit and the plight of our people. Profiteering, opportunistic tendencies and greed, will not move our country forward.

Together, let us grow our country’s manufacturing base, to use, consume and wear what we produce.

The new Government shall continue to foster a predictable business environment, where capital is safe. Those who want to invest in our country are welcome, based on respect and mutual benefits, for shared prosperity.

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The modernisation of our national infrastructure, utilities and amenities will continue unabated. Transport inter-connectivity within provinces and further linking us to the rest of the SADC region and the Continent are a priority.

The internal capacities and local skills in road construction that have been developed over the last five years will be deployed to further modernise our road network.

Agreements and investments to modernise, repair and expand our rail system will be consummated to allow urgent revitalisation of the sector.

Water is life and a solution not only to sustainable food security and sovereignty but also for the water and sanitation needs of our fast growing urban populations. Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi Dams, which are set to meet the needs of Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan Provinces, are scheduled to be completed soon.

During the last five year-term, my Administration delivered energy self-suffiency to our country. Courtesy of our comprehensive, strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China, Hwange Unit 7 and Unit 8 are now on stream.

We will now move on to upgrade Hwange Unit 1 to Unit 6, among other national strategic power generation stations.

Additional work is continuing towards broadening our energy mix, inclusive of renewable energy, to increase the total energy output, in tandem with the demand created by our fast growing economy.

The recovery and growth of the tourism sector in the post COVID-19 pandemic era, is testimony that Zimbabwe is a safe and competitive tourism destination. The joint marketing of brand Zimbabwe with both regional and continental partnerships is critical to sustain growth in the sector.

The economic role of SMEs, women and youth, as key players in our quest to realise Vision 2030 is set to receive due attention.

My new Government shall further consolidate the achievements in the health and education sectors for quality health delivery and education, especially for those in our country-side. Resources will be availed to equip and modernise the numerous schools and clinics constructed during the last five years. The requisite resources will be channelled towards the commercialisation of start-ups developed in our Innovation Hubs and Heritage-Based Education 5.0. Industrial Parks under

Matters related to housing delivery, water sanitation, among other social amenities remain key to the modern, empowered, and prosperous Zimbabwe we all want and deserve. I call upon those elected at the local government levels to wholeheartedly serve the people of our great country.

Our citizens, especially those in urban areas have endured poor service delivery for far too long. Rate payers deserve hard working and competent local authorities who will ensure that our towns and cities

regain their long-lost pride and lustre, through world class service delivery.

Going into the future, those in the arts, sports and creative cultural industries will be supported to express their talents. However, the fraternity is called upon to promote and protect our Zimbabwean values, African culture as well as our Christian-oriented family traditions and norms. Never use the arts or media to promote self-hate and divisions in our nation.

Meanwhile, I express my profound gratitude to our traditional leaders, who are the custodians of our land and culture, together with the religious community who joined the crusade to preach peace, love and harmony in our nation. The institution of traditional leadership and freedom of worship will continue to be protected by my new Government.

Comrades and Friends;

Under my leadership and the new ZANU PF Government, democracy, good governance, the rule of law and the politics of tolerance will be entrenched, in line with the spirit and letter of our sacred national Constitution and laws.

We make no apologies for entrenching and protecting our unique Zimbabwean values, cultures and norms. In this regard, I challenge us all to remain Zimbabwean and African, in both thoughts and deeds.

Zimbabwe is a sovereign state and “a friend to all and enemy of none”. Our membership and engagement within SADC, the African Union and United Nations and other countries in the comity of nations remain guided by the principles of mutual respect and the sovereign equality of nations, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

The undermining of our national institutions and laws will not be condoned, under whatever guise. No country or group of persons should disregard the sovereign decisions and views of the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe.

We will never be second class citizens in our own country. We stand ready to welcome those nations who want to work with the new ZANU PF Government to build lasting partnerships to make the world a better place.

We look forward to joining both traditional and emerging global institutions who accept our hand of friendship.

The architecture and composition of the United Nations Security Council must be reformed to reflect democracy at a global level as well as the equality of nations.

Our country is committed to playing its part for the realisation of global peace and security, anchored on dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflict.

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

In concluding, allow me to once again commend, you the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, for the successful, watershed, peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible Harmonised General Elections.

We have shamed our detractors who predicted and clandestinely financed mayhem, expecting the worst from us, before, during and after our polls.

The will of the Zimbabwean people has been expressed and must be respected.

In unity we have defended this sacred land, bequeathed to us by our great heroes and heroines.

They paid for the democracy, independence and sovereignty we are enjoying today, with their precious lives. This thunderous victory for our sovereignty, dignity and right to be masters of our own destiny is in their honour.

In the enduring spirit of unity and peace that characterised this past election, I once again call upon all Zimbabweans to say no to violence, tribalism, regionalism, hate speech and other divisive tendencies. Peace, love, harmony and tolerance are in our DNA as a people.

Let us now turn our focus back to our collective duty and obligation to build, modernise and industrialise our country.

The quality of life of our people, from Zambezi to Limpopo, from Plumtree to Mutare must be improved. That duty lies with us all, as Zimbabweans, both here at home and in the Diaspora.

No one else will build our country. No one should ever come from elsewhere to govern our country.

We have the primary responsibility to offer supplications and prayers for our country. We must do all these ourselves. This is who we are, as the great people of Zimbabwe.

Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa, nevenevayo, Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo.

Under the new ZANU PF Government and my leadership, rest assured that you, my fellow Zimbabweans and compatriots; boys and girls at home and abroad, shall continue to be at the centre of all our policies, projects and programmes.

We remain, forever; a Government from the people; by the people and for the people. The future of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, is bright.

Long live our freedom.

Long live our democracy and independence.

Long live our unity and peace.

God bless Zimbabwe. God bless you all.

I thank you.

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

Fellow Compatriots;

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

Comrades and Friends;

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Comrades and Friends;

Under my leadership and the new ZANU PF Government, democracy, good governance, the rule of law and the politics of tolerance will be entrenched, in line with the spirit and letter of our sacred national Constitution and laws.

Warriors To Play Home Matches Outside Country

The country’s senior men’s national soccer team —the Warriors, will play their 2026 World Cup qualifiers outside Zimbabwe, amid revelations that no stadium in the country is among the arenas cleared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the matches.

Zimbabwe recently returned to international football community after FIFA lifted the suspension imposed the country and appointed a Normalisation Committe tasked with running the affairs of ZIFA until next year.

But all stadiums in the country were condemned by CAF for not having set international standards.

The ongoing renovations at the National Sports Stadium have not been completed on time and giant facility is not among the facilities listed to host matchday 1 and 2 of the qualifiers for the global spectale.

Matchday 1 qnd 2 of the qualifiers will be played between 13-21 November 2023.

Zimbabwe are in Group C, together with Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Benin and Lesotho.

The Warriors will travel to Rwanda on matchday 1, before hosting the Super Eagles of Nigeria on matchday 2.

The Warriors will most likely play their home matches in South Africa, as the Rainbow nation has seven stadiums approved to host the qualifiers —FNB Stadium (Johannesburg), Orlando Stadium (Johannesburg), Mbombela Stadium (Neispruit), Royal Bafokeng Stadium (Rustenburg), Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban), Cape Town Stadium (Cape Town) and Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth).

However, the list of approved stadiums, according to CAF, is only for matchday 1 and 2, meaning the Warriors can still play home matches in the campaign, if the National Sports Stadium passes future inspections by the continental governing body.-Soccer24 News

Zim Dollar Crashes Just After Mnangagwa Inauguration

By-The Zimbabwean dollar has weakened against the United States dollar (USD) at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s wholesale foreign exchange auction held on September 6, 2023.

The USD was sold at a rate of ZW$4,647.9681, compared to ZWL$4,604.62 on August 29, 2023. This follows previous rates of ZW$4,571.29 on August 21 and ZW$4,573.77 on August 18.

The majority of foreign currency obtained from the auction was utilised for purchasing raw materials, followed by machinery and equipment.

While the Zimbabwean dollar has been strengthening against the USD in recent months, this latest development indicates a shift in the trend. Authorities attribute the strengthening of the Zimbabwean dollar to the government’s implementation of measures to stabilise the economy and the local currency. These measures included restricting foreign currency in local transactions, and making the Zimbabwean dollar the sole legal tender for certain domestic transactions like taxes. This resulted in a reduction in money supply in the market. However, this reduction has been viewed by some analysts as intentional hoarding by authorities to create an artificial shortage.

Although the Zimbabwean dollar has shown recent stability, its long-term sustainability remains uncertain. Previous attempts to reintroduce the local currency have been met with limited success due to a lack of public confidence following the hyperinflation experienced in 2008 and subsequent policy changes resulting in monetary losses.

There are predictions that the local currency may further devalue after the recent harmonized elections held on August 23-24, 2023, which saw the ruling ZANU PF party secure victory. The future role of the United States dollar in Zimbabwe’s currency system also remains unclear.

In his inauguration speech, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he was going to strengthen the Zimbabwean dollar.

Mining Practical Lessons

Addressing the media after visiting injured CCC members Womberaiishe Nhende and Sonele Mukhuhlani at a private clinic, President Chamisa condemned Zanu PF hooliganism.

In a statement CCC said :

Today, President #NelsonChamisa visited the youth task force members, Womberaishe and Sanele at a local hospital in Harare.

The two are victims of abduction and torture by the regime in Harare. The regime’s actions, including the arrests of the lawyers representing them, have created a somber atmosphere in post-election Zimbabwe.

It is evident that there is no freedom after making a choice, even after a flawed and fraudulent election conducted by ZEC.

Fellow Compatriots;

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

Comrades and Friends;

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Comrades and Friends;

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

CCC: To Boycott Parliament Or Not?

By Tawanda Muchehiwa| I have seen significant chatter on the Twitter timeline suggesting that CCC should boycott parliament.

This idea is flawed, in my view!

My belief is that such a move will solely benefit ZANU PF, which already lacks a majority in parliament. The idea of a 100% ZANU PF parliament is a nightmare!

There are some who argue that the participation of our MPs in parliament questions their legitimacy. However, let’s consider this analogy: Imagine you have a flock of ten goats, and thieves manage to steal seven, leaving you with only three. Would it be fair to label those remaining three as illegitimate? Would it make sense to allow the thieves to take away the rest without resistance? While the election may have been fraudulent, it actually highlights the exceptional nature of our 103 MPs who defied a corrupt system and emerged victorious!

While boycotts can be powerful, their effectiveness depends on having the upper hand or dealing with sensible people. Unfortunately, ZANU PF is not sensible, especially with establishments like MYANC on their side. They seem indifferent.

The @CCCZimbabwe MPs and councillors fought tirelessly to secure those constituencies, investing thousands and earning thousands of votes. It is crucial for the party not to let down their supporters who voted under very difficult circumstances!

Instead, we should occupy our positions and push for a free and fair election in other avenues. Safeguard the 3 and fight for the 7.

Deserting our strongholds is not an option in times like these!

Lastly, the party has been stripped of everything, from an outsider looking in, the party needs those MPs. Institution building is crucial at this point!

Godfrey Gandawa’s Open Letter To Mnangagwa

Futures Past and Present: Congratulatory Open Letter to the Architect of Zimbabwe’s Tomorrow

Dear President Mnangagwa,
As I write this letter from my place of exile, a status not without its roots in the actions and inactions of your government, I extend cautious yet necessary congratulations on your recent re-election. This event arouses a complex medley of emotions, coloured by the years I’ve spent away from home, the tumultuous events of my 2018 Bhora Musango Campaign, and a narrowly-escaped assassination. Despite these personal complexities, the urgency of our national situation compels me to rise above my grievances, however reluctantly, and focus on the broader well-being of Zimbabwe—a future that now rests squarely in your executive control, itself precariously balanced.

While my congratulations come with reservations, they serve a critical purpose: to fortify the tenuous framework of our democracy and judiciary, which remain the ultimate arbiters of power and dispute. To those who share my grievances, I urge reflection on this stance. The alternative risks entrenching us further in a system increasingly impervious to democratic oversight and even to the authority of its own executive—a system that you, Mr President, were instrumental in crystallising, most notably in the events of 2017.

While irregularities have sadly become a recurring theme in our elections, what transpired during the recent polls was distinct in its audacity and execution. These were not mere lapses but a calculated orchestration aimed at discrediting the electoral process and sowing public doubt. Delays in ballot deliveries were far from accidental; misleading posters about opposition withdrawal were deliberate manipulations; and overt threats of violence were an unabashed exercise in intimidation. In sum, these were not the shortcomings of a disorganised system but the deliberate machinations of a faction within it, successful in discrediting the process.

Yet here lies the irony: despite your integral role in creating this system, it appears you have found yourself in a curious discord with a segment within it—a faction acting seemingly independently of your executive oversight.

The aim of these actions is clear: to stoke and exploit public discontent as a stepping stone to seize power, bypassing democratic channels. The key to neutralising this threat lies in addressing the public’s grievances. I propose that three areas are crucial for this endeavour:

1. National Unity, Ruling Party Cohesion and Historical Atrocities
Mr. President, both our divided nation and ruling party demand unity. Internal strife within your party, chiefly over succession, exacerbates tribalism, regionalism, and nepotism, leaving our social fabric frayed. Regrettably, even criminals have found more favour in your generosity than your political opponents in global exile. Your final term offers a rare opportunity for reconciliation. A special amnesty, paired with a 15-year-sealed Truth Commission, could lay the groundwork for a harmonious future.

Electoral trends in Bulawayo serve as a revealing barometer of public sentiment. Your relative underperformance, when compared to local MPs and councillors, points to unresolved historical grievances. Given your past role in security matters, it would be improper for you to oversee reconciliation.

The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) was constitutionally established under Zimbabwean law [section 251(1)]. Its mission, delineated in section 253, includes post-conflict justice, healing, and fostering national unity. However, its mandate expired on August 21, 2023. It falls within your purview to enact legislation either extending the NPRC or instituting a new body for the same purpose, thereby allowing a future administration unburdened by association to conclude outstanding matters.

2. Security Sector and Chapter 9 Institutions Reform
The integrity of our security forces is essential for the democratic vitality of our nation and, indeed, the stability of your presidency. The majority of our security personnel conduct themselves with commendable professionalism, beyond reproach. However, the malign actions of a rogue section, involving abductions, murders, and torture, have cast a dark cloud over their collective reputation.

The tragic death of Doug Munatsi, bearing the hallmarks of a professional execution, underscores this urgent need for change.

Implementing consequential reforms is not just a matter of public interest but is becoming
increasingly crucial for the sound governance of your own administration. It may be worth
considering the establishment of a specialised unit, akin to Germany’s GSG 9 or France’s RAID. This elite cadre, governed by an unassailable framework of political independence and rotating leadership, would meld intellectual acuity for information awareness and sharp assessments, technological supremacy for optimal operational effectiveness, and lethal prowess for unambiguous deterrence, all while being vigilantly accountable to an independent oversight committee and fortified by international collaborations.

3. Resource Exploitation, Land and Economic Equity
The untapped promise of our abundant resources has scarcely served the broader populace, a deficiency glaringly evident in the vexing land disputes in Chilonga and Mutoko. These conflicts erode our national values. If external investors claim the lands harbour immense economic potential, they must, in all fairness, assume the fiscal responsibilities for adequate relocation, equitable compensation, and a share in future profits for the community. Anything less would echo the injustices of the colonial era.

Despite the commendable expansion in our mining sector, the benefits have not trickled down to the general population, thus highlighting the need for a comprehensive, interconnected strategy. Once a topic for intellectual debate within Zanu PF, the time is ripe to reevaluate our economic framework.

While seeking investment remains a priority, due recognition must be given to the land’s communal value. These aims are not mutually exclusive with fostering a business-friendly atmosphere.

A transparent and technologically advanced procurement system could serve as the linchpin for the economic rejuvenation our nation so urgently requires.

At first glance, one might construe this missive as provocative. However, the discerning eye will find herein a committed plea for the betterment of our homeland. The euphoria that swept the nation in 2017 was not merely an indictment of past governance but a hopeful glance towards a promising future—one that still lies within the grasp of your administration. It suggests that the people of Zimbabwe have no qualms with you, personally; they yearn for a leader with the keys to that future.

We find ourselves at a crucial juncture, a moment pregnant with possibilities and fraught with peril. Your tenure has the potential to be a defining period in our history, with a critical five years ahead. It’s an opportune time to revisit the pledges of yesteryears, not as distant dreams, but achievable objectives.

Congratulations anew, with reservations intact.

Harare Serial Killer Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A 20 year old serial killer has been arrested for eight gruesome murders in Harare and Bulawayo where he killed unsuspecting victims, boiled their body parts and ate the flesh.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu (20) alias Sauro, was linked to five murder cases committed in Harare between August 28 and September 4 this year where he targeted the homeless in the capital city.

He allegedly committed three other murder cases in Bulawayo in 2020.

“The suspect who is believed to be living on the streets would target street kids who will be fast asleep and crush them and open the victims’ stomachs to remove genitals and other body parts using broken bottles,” Nyathi said in a statement.

“The suspect would then boil the human parts on any open fire and consume them, while in the Harare central business district.”

Nyathi said Ndlovu was caught on September 4 along Rotten Row, Harare after he tried to attack another street kid.

“On being arrested it has been confirmed that the suspected is positively linked to the five murder cases which occurred on August 28, 2023 at the corner of George Silundika Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street, Harare, on September 1, 2023 at the corner of Innez Terrace and Robert Mugabe Road, Harare, on September 3, 2023 at the corner of Nelson Mandela Avenue and 7th Street, Harare and on September 4, 2023 at the corner of Cripps Road and Remembrance Drive in Harare,” Nyathi said.

The suspect is also linked to three murder cases in Bulawayo.

In January 2020, he crushed a victim’s head in Bellevue using a brick after he found him asleep in his yard.

In December 2020, the suspect crushed a victim’s head in Makokoba after finding him asleep on the roadside.

He again crushed another victim’s head using stones at Sekhusile shopping centre, Nkulumane, after finding him asleep on a pavement before fleeing to Harare.

“The suspect is also facing charges of attempted murder and has a warrant of arrest for the robbery case which occurred in Milton Park, Harare, in June 2021,” Nyathi said.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has not found any evidence linking the recent murder cases committed by the suspect to ritual killings.

“The police reassures the public that enquiries are still being conducted to find out the real motive behind the suspect’s conduct and if he acted alone or not,” said Nyathi in his statement.

Meanwhile, Hwedza killer cop Jaison Muvevi was yesterday declared unfit to stand trial and has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

Muvevi, who faces four counts of murder and two attempted murder charges, claimed that he was mentally unfit and asked to be medically examined.-newsday

The two were abducted and tortured by government agents at the weekend.

They were accused of attempting to cause anarchy in the country.

The lawyers were arrested on fabricated charges of obstructing justice after they informed the police that they can’t interview the duo due to the current mental and physical condition of the victims.

Dutch Mentor Says World Cup Rigged

Louis van Gaal has claimed that last year’s World Cup in Qatar was rigged in order to help Lionel Messi finally lift the trophy.

Messi led Argentina to their first-ever World Cup trophy since 1986, beating defending champions France in the final through a penalty shootout at the Lusail Stadium on December 18.

The game had ended 3-3 after extra time with Messi’s brace and Angel di Maria’s strike cancelled out by Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick.

Van Gaal, who coached the Netherlands at the same World Cup, believes that the tournament was rigged so that Messi could finally win the trophy that had always eluded him.

The veteran coach told NOS: “I don’t really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it was a premeditated game.”

The 72-year-old added: “I mean everything I say. That Messi should become world champion? I think so, yes.”- Soccer24 News

The hosts continued to dominate the pace in the initial moments of the game.

Namibia soon found their way into the game and equalised on the half hour mark through Jackson Eliakim.

Zimbabwe didn’t take too long to restore their lead, with Farai Banda finding the back of the net on minute 36.

The visitors equalised again in the second half through Edward Kambanda after some poor defending by the Warriors.

The goal forced the encounter into a draw after the end of the ninety minutes.

The penalty shootout followed to decide the match and Zimbabwe won it 5-4 after converting five of their six kicks, while Namibia missed two.- Soccer24 News
