Donor Collectors Blame ZANU PF For Their Flopped Demo

By Political Reporter- People who collected donations for their Zambia demonstrations have begun blaming ZANU PF for their flopped Lusaka protest.

The group has accused Zanu PF begged Zambia it to stop Zimbabweans who are protesting against the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Chairmanship of President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Lusaka.

Yesterday, the Zambia Police Service (ZPS) barred Zimbabwean citizens from holding a demonstration in Lusaka.

Dozens of Zimbabwean activists had staged protests against the upcoming assumption of the SADC chairmanship by Mnangagwa next month.

The activists also planned to protest at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on Friday.

ChangeRadio, has falsely claimed that the ZPS cancelled the demonstration under pressure from Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU PF party.

Reported Change Radio:

Today (11 July 2024), the Citizens delegation, led by Mr. Trust Ndlovu from South Africa, Mr. Chambara from Namibia, Mr Marufu from South Africa, Mr. Maphosa from Zambia, and Mr. Mavhoko from Botswana, successfully handed over the petition to the Zambian Permanent Secretary for onward transmission to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema.

The petition seeks to highlight the deteriorating governance and human rights crisis in Zimbabwe, for instance, the arbitrary detention of innocent citizens like Senator Jameson Timba and the Avondale 78 among others.

SADC should not hand over its chairmanship to Mr. Mnangagwa, who is Zimbabwe’s president through a shambolic election that the SEOM report highlighted.

Mr. Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF will feel vindicated, therefore continuing on the destructive path harmful to not onlyZimbabwe but SADC as a whole.

SADC should facilitate dialogue to get Zimbabwe out of the perpetual governance crisis causing untold suffering to Zimbabwe citizens through economic mismanagement, among other problems.

The immigration crisis in SADC is a testament to the governance crisis in Zimbabwe.

A poster circulating online reads: “No to ED’s SADC Chairmanship. Zimbabwe is under a military dictatorship characterised by corruption, nepotism, poverty, and open repression. Let us rise up.”

Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF party have made it clear that they will not tolerate any form of dissent or opposition ahead of the upcoming SADC Summit in August, where Mnangagwa is expected to assume the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

Earlier this week, the prominent human rights organization, Human Rights Watch (HRW), urged SADC to speak out against the intensified crackdown on the opposition and civil society organizations by the Zimbabwean authorities, ahead of the regional bloc’s upcoming summit in Harare.

According to HRW, since Mnangagwa assumed power through a military coup in 2017, his government has committed serious human rights violations and has demonstrated a failure or unwillingness to institute lasting human rights reforms.

The rights group called on SADC to use the Harare summit as an opportunity to address the deteriorating human rights situation in Zimbabwe and to press the Mnangagwa government to end its crackdown on dissent and uphold fundamental freedoms.

Technology Experts Seek To Transform Aviation Industry

GENEVA – 12 July 2024 – SITA, the global leader in technology solutions for the air transport industry has completed the regulatory formalities and legal procedures to acquire Materna IPS.

This strategic move will reshape the aviation industry, resulting in the world’s most powerful passenger portfolio for airports and digital travel.

The acquisition represents an unprecedented acceleration of global aviation industry digitalization, streamlining check-in, baggage handling, and security processes.

Travelers can expect reduced wait times, smoother journeys, and a new era of personalized digital services.

This strategic move will see SITA become number one in terms of market share of solutions like Self Bag-Drop while it strengthens its leadership of areas such as biometrics, with 85% of international air passengers served globally, and in Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) and Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks.

All this will impact the entire travel industry in a very positive way as it tackles challenges to meet pressing industry demands for increased terminal capacities and best-in-class secure solutions leading to easy travel for all passengers.

It’ll allow the industry to transform airports from simple transit hubs to digital, personalized experiences for travelers across the world.

The integrated solutions portfolio will let airports process more passengers and optimize resources to give travelers a better experience.

With a global footprint of around 120 airports around the world, the integration of Materna IPS positions SITA as the undisputable market leader in terms of end-to-end solutions at airports, strengthening existing solutions such as Self Bag-Drop.

Materna IPS offers best-in-class secure solutions for all passenger touchpoints, from check-in to baggage claim and boarding.

SITA Leads The Way In Technology Solutions

8 July 2024 – SITA, the global leader in technology solutions for the air transport industry, has announced record results for 2023 as revenues reached almost US$ 1.5 billion.

This represents a rise of 7% on the prior year, with all signs so far in 2024 indicating similar positive performance this year.

Unveiling the results at SITA’s Annual General Assembly in June, SITA CEO David Lavorel also cited growth in margin and EBITDA, which exceeded plans by 4%.

“Every one of our customers and members benefits from our strong performance and growth,” said Lavorel. “It means we can self-fund our portfolio evolutions and explore further innovation opportunities. This is vital as we address the big trends now facing travel and take on new technologies to shape our industry’s future. Our portfolio developments and innovations are preparing the industry for the years ahead, delivering seamless and touchless journeys, operational efficiency, resilience and agility, sustainability, and more.”

SITA also saw record contracts and partnerships to transform travel at airports and borders, through digital identities, biometric and mobile-enabled self-service, and digital borders. Examples include biometric touchpoints for airline passengers at Frankfurt Airport, a digital travel and sustainability collaboration with the Arab Air Carriers Organization, and continued world-leading trials in Aruba, using ICAO’s Digital Travel Credential (DTC) standard.

In addition, SITA’s agreement with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will see the latest passenger processing solutions and cloud-enablement for 44 airports in India, preparing the country for a future of increasing growth in passenger traffic.

With the return of travel comes the need to make operations efficient. The launch of new services for the SITA Connect Go SD-WAN solution gives the industry the opportunity to achieve this goal, as a platform for industry digitalization. Qatar Airways and Biman Bangladesh Airlines became early customers, using the solution to help fuel growth.

In another major trend, collaborative IT for aircraft is helping to make flights more efficient and sustainable, using AI and data-driven operational tools. In 2023, airlines eagerly took on SITA OptiFlight® to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by better planning fight paths.

They include Azul, Singapore Airlines, AIX Connect, Vistara, and many more. AI and flight optimization services are critical to help aviation’s journey to a carbon net-zero future.

“We’ve significantly over-achieved the first year goals of our business plan to grow SITA. As a result, we entered 2024 with a strong tailwind,” said Lavorel.

“With 75 successful years behind us, we’re looking to the future of travel. Our mission is to prepare our customers to deliver the ultimate travel and transport experience, with the most advanced, efficient, and sustainable technologies.”

Continuing the focus on travel industry operational efficiencies and sustainability, 2024 has seen the launch of SITA Total Airport Optimizer. Using an AI-powered platform, it helps airports to manage every aspect of their operations.

Through a partnership with Univers, the solution also brings sustainability into the heart of operational decision making. It means airports can monitor and report energy usage, emissions from aircraft and other vehicles, and their carbon footprint.

The momentum in 2024 continued with SITA’s acquisition of Materna IPS, leader in passenger handling for airports and airlines, and Self Bag-Drop market leader. The move will reshape aviation, creating the world’s most powerful passenger portfolio for airports and digital travel.

SITA followed that acquisition with the launch of SmartSea through an agreement with Columbia Shipmanagement, world-class ship manager and maritime service provider.

SmartSea will reshape the maritime industry by giving it access to the same advanced technology that is transforming the air transport industry. The launch comes as part of SITA’s expansion into cruise and rail, as well Urban Air Mobility, such as Vertiports.

Soon after, SITA acquired ASISTIM, a company renowned for its managed airline flight operations services.

This paves the way for airlines of all sizes to outsource part of their flight operations, through a fully-fledged airline flight Operations Control Center (OCC) managed service.

“This is an exciting time for the travel industry,” added SITA’s Lavorel. “Major trends such as digitalization and sustainability will uproot the way we work, forever.

For 75 years we’ve helped air transport step into the future. Now we’re positioned to help the wider travel and transport industries to create ever more frictionless journey experiences, achieve operational efficiencies and resilience, and address sustainability requirements.”

Bosso Coach Cautious Ahead Of DeMbare Tie

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has cautioned his charges not to read much in the chaos that have affected Dynamos’ preparations for their Sunday’s meeting in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The Dembare camp was rocked by strikes for three days after players refused to train, citing outstanding bonuses.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Kaindu predicted a tough encounter for his team.

He said: “It makes it very difficult when you are playing a team that has its in-house problems. You may be misled and it may also affect you one way or another, but we don’t know what is happening behind closed doors.

“If you look at a game of this magnitude it does not matter if they have trained or not, it’s a game everyone wants to come and watch. Whether they are training or not we are not dwelling into that. We just want to focus on the game and get a positive result.”

The Castle Lager Premiership matchday 18 encounter is scheduled for Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The two giants renew their rivalry at the iconic venue for the first time since 2019.

Kick-off is at 3 pm CAT.

Can Nation Rely On Non-existent ZiG Mari?

By A Correspondent

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is considering eliminating the US Dollar in favor of the Zimbabwean currency, ZiG. However, economic experts have cautioned that this decision could have severe consequences.

A government insider stated, “A country should ideally operate with its own currency,” echoing Mnangagwa’s previous assertions.

According to Zanu PF sympathisers, one of Zimbabwe’s major financial missteps was adopting a multi-currency system in January 2009.

Now, after 15 years, they claim it is time to restore the ZiG as the exclusive legal tender in the country’s economy.

Mavaza: Every Country Has Laws Against Demonstrations

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Skeptics suggest that “folk politics”—marches, protests, and the like—distract from addressing real issues. Many detractors aim to introduce their own rules through confusion, filling the streets with protesters to gain power. To prevent such behavior, many governments have enacted laws to regulate street protests, ensuring they are in the best interest of the country’s citizens.

Protests often deepen divisions rather than unite factions, leading to counterarguments, counter-protests, tension, violence, and polarization. Effective protests occur without ulterior motives, gaining the attention of those in power who may consider the issues raised. The right to protest is crucial, but protesting at the wrong time for the wrong reason can lead to severe consequences, like imprisonment, which doesn’t aid political discourse. Violent protests can also result in the protesting group being labeled as radical, hindering proper public discussion.

In the UK, the right to protest is protected under the European Convention of Human Rights, but this applies only to peaceful demonstrations, excluding acts of violence or damage. To curb unwarranted protests, Serious Disruption Prevention Orders were introduced as part of the Public Order Act 2023. Breaching such orders is a criminal offense, punishable by up to six months in prison and/or an unlimited fine. Despite the British government advocating for protesters’ rights internationally, protests in the UK are not without restrictions.

New public order powers in the UK aim to prevent individuals from causing repeated serious disruption, empowering the police to intervene before serious disruptions occur, especially for those with previous protest-related offenses. These orders can impose restrictions such as preventing individuals from being in certain areas, participating in disruptive activities, associating with protest groups, or using the internet to encourage protest-related offenses. The court determines the specific restrictions, which can last up to two years and be renewed if necessary.

Former Home Secretary James Cleverly emphasized the democratic right to protest, while noting the need for limitations. Recent months have shown individuals causing severe disruption, prompting new powers to prevent ongoing turmoil. The new orders are part of the government’s efforts to ensure the police have the necessary tools to keep streets safe.

Even with short-notice marches, organizers must inform the police promptly. The police can change the protest location, limit its duration, restrict the number of attendees, and stop sit-down protests that block traffic or public walkways. While these regulations are legal in the UK, they are often seen as heavy-handed when applied in Zimbabwe.

In both the UK and the USA, protesters must avoid blocking access to sidewalks or buildings, disrupting counter-protests, or engaging in obscene speech, false statements, or incitement to immediate disruption or danger. Some jurisdictions may require permits for street marches and adherence to local traffic rules.

In Zimbabwe, invoking laws to limit demonstrations is justified. Street protests are not solutions to Zimbabwe’s economic and political crises for three reasons: they have previously led to unnecessary destruction, they risk loss of property, limbs, and lives, and there are better alternatives like addressing issues through MPs.

Following the Black Lives Matter protests, eight American states passed laws increasing penalties for unlawful behavior during protests or riots, defining “riot” as a gathering of three or more people that threatens public safety. It is perplexing that while the West enforces strict protest laws, they criticize similar measures in Zimbabwe as human rights violations.

In 2003, despite widespread protests against the Iraq war, the conflict proceeded. Protests rarely achieve their intended outcomes, and the West’s sponsorship of such activities in other regions is hypocritical. Zimbabwe must enforce its laws to maintain peace, rejecting external influence.

Zimbabweans should not be misled. Leaders like Job Sikhala, who incite protests while in hiding, should be scrutinized. Zimbabwe needs to abandon planned demonstrations and invoke its laws to deal with protesters firmly. Zimbabwe is our only home, and its peace must be protected.

Kenya Represents Hope for Zimbabwe: Nelson Chamisa

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has expressed optimism regarding the recent protests in Kenya, suggesting they symbolize hope for the troubled citizens of Zimbabwe.

In a post shared on X, Chamisa noted, “Kenya A Sign,” highlighting the significance of the events unfolding in that country.

The protests in Kenya, fueled by public discontent, prompted President William Ruto to take decisive action by dismissing his entire cabinet.

This move is seen as an attempt to address the grievances of the citizens and restore faith in the government amid widespread calls for change.

Chamisa’s comments resonate deeply in Zimbabwe, where citizens are facing their own challenges.

He emphasizes that the situation in Kenya could inspire a push for reform and accountability in Zimbabwean politics.

As Kenyans rally for their rights, Chamisa urges Zimbabweans to remain hopeful and engaged in the fight for a better future.

From Bread Basket to Basket Case: Zimbabwe Receives Maize from Rwanda

Rwanda has donated 1,000 tonnes of maize to Zimbabwe to address the challenges posed by El Niño-induced drought.

This assistance comes in response to President Mnangagwa’s declaration of the 2023/2024 agricultural season as a disaster due to poor yields.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava announced the imminent arrival of the maize, commending Rwanda’s solidarity and the spirit of ubuntu demonstrated by President Paul Kagame and the Rwandan people.

SADC Chairmanship And The End Of Mnangagwa

THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY…..

Dr Raymond Chamba | The political tragi-comic proportions of some of our situations in Zimbabwe deserves a third eye examination. By nothing more than rotation we find ourselves assuming the SADC Chairmanship but don’t tell it to those candidates for Ngomahuru who have taken to the highest mountain proclaiming themselves Munhumutapa. Perhaps in the baby making Olympics but certainly not by the baptismal of a most corrupt order ever since Albion send a mission to these lands between the great Zambezi and Limpopo rivers.

The colonial project once seen as headed for a disastrous end had its master planners create moles within the revolutionary movement. Some were even put into prison for good measure and cover for a great legend. Some were send up north to infiltrate the great movement and found themselves by structured marital design assuming positions of power and influence. It’s indeed an inside joke when you hear them froth at the mouth “Pasi ne Mhandu”. It’s humorous but not funny because at the conclusion of the colonial project they are the clear enemies and everywhere you see them imagine and cultivate legendary revolutionary credentials….

Never in the history of pimping and prostitution has someone completely surrounded themselves by their concubines and call that gender mainstreaming in politics. Never in the modern institution of an independent Republic has anyone actually esconsed themselves with their children, family and cattle herding buddies from a narrow ethnic enclave and called it a national government. The god’s must be crazy to have the pestilence of such iniquities flourish and find expression as chereographed good leadership.

The gods must be crazy to have the bambling, halt speaking, ill mannered, murderous, incorigibly thieving “dzororos and mbororos” among us to have the chutzpah to try create a legacy out of this tragedy. Every joke has an ending and every damnation surely runs it’s course and so we expect divine justice to provide a most inglorious end to this circus for the sake of creating an eternal lesson in the folly of stealing and stalling divine destiny-the great peace and prosperity of Dzimbahwe long deferred.

It’s enough to endure the uninvited and unfortunate dalliances of a political and economic rapist. But “this one” forgets the misfortune of the situation and pines for the second and third round to ravish a nation long disadvantaged. Hamunzwewo tsitsi here kuruzhinji rwatambura (have you got any thought nor mercy for a nation driven into mass destitution and despondency). The gods must be crazy to imagine that this devil’s spawn is the best we can do for a great people and nation.

The most dangerous leadership is one that is totally indifferent to the mass indignation of its citizens. Commanding elements of administration have shown an unfortunate lust to take from the people and an unquenchable thirst to rub it in the face of the very same people they steal from. Surely they must be some natural justice to put this charade to bed once and for all. Fortunately the gods and spirits of this realm of Dzimbahwe are not crazy and neither are they resting. The “deep damnation of the taking off” of the wicked amongst us is not only quite upon us but the lessons of their demise shall be forever instructive.

This drum of criminal indifference, gross personal ego tripping and indeed murderous appetite is having its last sonorous notes playing out. Very soon a deep dirge and cloud of regret shall envelope the perpetrators. Chisingapere chinoshura. The Almighty GOD and our ancestors are not crazy. Muchamhanya Paguta. Zinwamhanga Mira…….

Tortured Legislator Sues State Security Agents Who Abducted Him

By A Correspondent| Opposition legislator Takudzwa Ngadziore is suing some state security agents, who abducted and tortured him last year and is demanding payment of US$150 000 from them, as compensation for the damages, which he suffered during the gut-wrenching and dehumanising ordeal.

Hon. Ngadziore was left hospitalised after sustaining injuries, when he was abducted by some gun-brandishing men outside his residence in Harare on 1 November 2023, while he was on his way to attend a parliamentary session at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, and was bundled into a vehicle and blindfolded with a sack, stripped naked and tortured.

The opposition legislator, who later learnt of the identity of his tormentors through social media reports, which unmasked their identities, after he managed to record and broadcast the abduction ordeal live on Facebook, a social networking site, had an unknown substance injected into his body during the torture before being dumped in Christon Bank, which is located just outside Harare.

He was tortured using some objects, which he believed to be a taser and iron rods and as he was being tortured, Hon. Ngadziore was quizzed about his political activities and the plans for his Citizens Coalition for Change political party.

Hon. Ngadziore was found by a passer-by, who gave him a work suit and the opposition legislator was taken to a medical facility, where he was treated for injuries sustained from the torture.

Now, Hon. Ngadziore is suing two Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives namely Nicholas Kajese and Abraham Pasi together with Isaac Moyo, the Director-General of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe, for US$150 000 for the abduction and torture, which he said was an egregious violation of his rights and freedoms.

In summons filed at the Harare High Court recently, Hon. Ngadziore, who is represented by lawyers from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, argued that there was no lawful basis for the deprivation of his liberty and he had not committed any offence to warrant such inhuman, degrading treatment and punishment.

The opposition legislator argued that his abduction and torture violates his rights to freedom of personal security enshrined in section 52 of the Constitution, his right to freedom from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment as guaranteed in section 53 of the Constitution and his right to human dignity provided in section 51 of the Constitution.

Hon. Ngadziore, who disclosed that his tormentors wore balaclavas and were armed with assault rifles, said he suffered excruciating pain and mental anguish and also felt greatly humiliated and degraded as a result of the abduction and  torture perpetrated on him by Kajese and Pasi and their colleagues.

Out of the US$150 000 that Hon. Ngadziore is demanding as compensation for his abduction and torture, US$50 000 will be damages for pain and suffering, US$50 000 will be damages for unlawful deprivation of liberty and US$50 000 will cover damages for humiliation, affront to dignity and embarrassment.

Three Dead in Weekend Hit-and-Runs as Police Hunt for Drivers

By A Correspondent| Three pedestrians were killed in hit-and-run incidents last weekend, sparking police manhunts for the drivers responsible. By law, drivers involved in accidents must stop and assist, and failing to do so can lead to severe penalties. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi expressed concern and appealed to the public for information to help track down the drivers.

Over the weekend, three men aged between 38 and 50 were killed, and another was injured in separate incidents in Harare and Mutare. On Sunday, a 38-year-old man was killed along High Glen Road in Glen Norah by an unknown driver who fled the scene. Another man, aged 50, was killed the same day at the intersection of Makumbe Drive and Solomon Mujuru Road in Mabelreign.

A third incident occurred on Tuesday at the intersection of Robert Mugabe Road and Fifth Street in Harare, where a 38-year-old man was hit by an unknown motorist and later died at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals due to his injuries. The driver did not stop after the accident.

Commissioner Nyathi also noted ongoing investigations into other recent hit-and-run incidents. On July 3, a man was fatally hit by a kombi at Market Square Rank in Harare, and on June 30, another pedestrian was killed in Glen View Area 8 by an unidentified driver. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in their investigations.

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a serious hit-and-run accident that occurred on June 8 along Rangemore Road in Nkulumane, where a motorist hit an 85-year-old pedestrian and fled the scene.

On the same day, another hit-and-run incident happened along Nketa Drive in Nkulumane, where a motorist collided with a motorcyclist, causing the rider to sustain head injuries. The motorcyclist is currently hospitalized in Bulawayo.

In Mutare, police are also investigating a hit-and-run accident that took place on June 8 along Mutare-Chimanimani Road in Sakubva. A 47-year-old man was struck by an unknown motorist and suffered a swollen hand. The driver did not stop, and the victim was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help in their investigations of these cases.

Closure for Cyclone Idai Families as Death Certificates Finally Issued – Why Did It Take Four Years?

CHIMANIMANI, Zimbabwe – In a poignant ceremony held at Ndima High School in Chimanimani East, the Government of Zimbabwe took a significant step towards bringing closure to the families affected by Cyclone Idai. Yesterday, around 30 relatives of the 279 victims who perished in the tropical storm in March 2019 received death certificates for their loved ones. However, the lingering question remains: why did it take four years to complete these verifications?

Among the recipients was Mr. Enick Makaza, a survivor from the Kopa area of Rusitu in Chimanimani, who collected seven death certificates for his family members. Makaza’s two wives, Shylet Sabona and Letwin Jambaya, and his five children, Ernest, Enrich, Silma, Shalom, and Enia Makaza, were all swept away by the storm’s fury.

“Yes, this somehow consoles me and brings closure to this problem. I have been trying to get these civil documents so that I can know, and accept the fact that they are all dead and will never locate them. I would have loved to see all their remains, but as it stands, together with others who were affected in the same way, we just have to accept the fact that they are all gone and we will never see them again,” said Mr. Makaza.

The ceremony, part of a series of government measures, aimed to provide official recognition and closure for the families of the 279 individuals—133 males and 146 females—who were lost in the disaster. Local Government and Public Works Minister, Honourable Daniel Garwe, represented by his deputy, Engineer Benjamin Kabikira, handed over the documents to the bereaved families.

Minister Garwe addressed the gathering, emphasizing the government’s decision to issue death certificates after concluding that there was no realistic chance of recovering the victims’ remains. “As we commemorate this special day, authorities have determined that there is no longer any realistic chance of discovering our missing community members alive after a protracted inquiry that lasted five years. Be advised that throughout the excruciating experience, you have been in our prayers and thoughts. I implore you to find solace in the priceless moments you spent with your loved ones,” he said.

The tragedy of Cyclone Idai, one of the worst natural disasters to hit the region, left many families in a state of limbo, uncertain about the fate of their missing relatives. The issuance of death certificates is a crucial step in allowing families to move forward. But the delay in the verification process raises critical questions about the efficiency and responsiveness of disaster management systems.

Mr. Makaza recounted the harrowing experience of trying to save his family as the storm’s waters rose. Despite his efforts to guide them to safety, a tragic miscommunication with a police officer led them back to their house, where they were ultimately swept away. “I had tried to rescue them from the house since a strong tide of water was almost covering the whole area. When I had instructed them to go uphill, they met a police officer who ordered them to go back, saying the water would subside. Unfortunately, the tide increased in force, and our house was struck by rock boulders, resulting in the whole family being swept away,” he shared.

The four-year delay in issuing death certificates suggests systemic challenges in the verification process. Factors likely include the extensive damage caused by the cyclone, the need for thorough investigations, and bureaucratic inefficiencies. This prolonged period left families in prolonged uncertainty and grief, highlighting the need for more robust and expedited disaster response mechanisms.

In his address, Minister Garwe also highlighted the need for enhanced disaster preparedness, including the construction of more evacuation centers and warehouses. “To ensure safety of communities during emergencies, identification and construction of evacuation centres was done. In terms of storage and pre-positioning of relief materials, a warehouse was constructed at Bumba in Chimanimani. However, there is need for the construction of more evacuation centres and warehouses in the whole country,” he was quoted by the Manica Post saying.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister, Honourable Joshua Sacco, echoed the sentiments of gratitude towards the government and urged continued efforts to improve infrastructure in Chimanimani. “We are truly humbled by the efforts done by Government in the post-Cyclone Idai recovery phase. As the people of Chimanimani, we are indeed thankful to President Mnangagwa, Government and development partners that came to our rescue during that difficult time. We realised how much we are loved as part of a caring national and global community. The build-back-better-principle saw some major infrastructural development initiatives being implemented in Chimanimani after the disaster,” he said.

While the issuance of death certificates is a significant step towards closure, the lengthy verification process underscores the need for improved disaster management protocols to prevent such delays in the future. The event marked a bittersweet milestone for the community, providing a formal acknowledgment of their loss while emphasizing the necessity for more efficient systems to handle such tragedies.

MP Denounces Child Marriages

By Mutsa Murombedzi

Mashonaland West Proportional Representative MP

The alarming statistic of 680 minors impregnated in Zimbabwe within six months highlights deeply ingrained societal issues.

Some religious sects often perpetuate child marriages, while hunger driven by climate change exacerbates vulnerability. These factors strip girls of their childhood, education, and future opportunities.

Effective solutions require robust legal enforcement against child marriages, comprehensive sex education, community engagement to shift cultural norms, and addressing food insecurity. By creating safe, supportive environments, and empowering girls, we can tackle this crisis and promote healthier futures for all children.

Moreover, gender equality is central to addressing this crisis. When girls are given equal opportunities, they can break free from the cycle of poverty and exploitation.

This is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Ensuring access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for girls not only benefits them individually but also contributes to the overall development and prosperity of communities and nations.

I am deeply passionate about this topic and will continue to amplify girls’ voices, advocating for their rights and ensuring they have the support and opportunities needed for a brighter future.

Tsvangirai Roasts Mnangagwa Over Economic Crisis

By A Correspondent

Norton MP Richard Tsvangirai has criticized the administration of Zanu PF leader Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, attributing it to compelling people into perilous situations amidst severe economic hardships.

On Thursday, Tsvangirai was photographed with a victim of a crocodile attack.

Tsvangirai expressed, “It was heartening to see Mr. Masona in good spirits after surviving a crocodile attack that tragically cost him his leg.

Due to a lack of employment opportunities, many have turned to fishing as a means of livelihood, exposing themselves to such dangers.

I have initiated discussions with Zim Parks and the relevant Ministry to explore sustainable solutions that ensure fishing can be conducted safely without risking lives.”

Kenya’s President Ruto Fires Entire Cabinet Amidst Unrest

Nairobi – In an unprecedented political upheaval, Kenya’s embattled President William Ruto has dismissed all his ministers and the attorney-general with immediate effect. This dramatic move follows recent deadly protests that forced the withdrawal of an unpopular tax bill.

President Ruto announced that the decision came after “reflection, listening to Kenyans, and a holistic appraisal of my cabinet.” He emphasized his intention to consult widely to establish a broad-based government. However, the dissolution does not affect the deputy president, who cannot be legally dismissed, nor the prime cabinet secretary, who also serves as the foreign affairs minister. The president did not specify when a new government will be named.

“In the meantime, I will consult across different sectors and political formations and with other Kenyans, both in public and private,” Ruto stated. The sweeping decision is highly unusual, particularly given that Ruto has been in office for less than two years. The last time an entire cabinet was dissolved was in 2005, when then-President Mwai Kibaki did so after losing a referendum on a new constitution.

The president has faced mounting pressure from Kenyans, who have persisted with anti-government protests demanding greater accountability, even after he agreed to withdraw the controversial tax hikes. Some protesters have called for Ruto to resign. In response to public discontent, last week, Ruto announced several austerity measures across various government agencies and ordered a freeze on proposed pay rises for cabinet members and parliamentarians.

The recent protests have highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s economic policies, particularly the proposed tax increases, which many Kenyans saw as exacerbating their financial hardships. The unrest turned deadly, intensifying the call for government action.

As President Ruto embarks on consultations to rebuild his government, the country watches closely, anticipating further developments. The political landscape remains tense, with many citizens hoping for a more inclusive and responsive administration.

Further updates will follow as the situation evolves and President Ruto begins the process of forming a new cabinet.

Govt Plans to Shut Down Several NGOs

By Farai D Hove | Harare – In a controversial move, the government has announced plans to shut down several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) across the country unless they comply with stringent regulatory requirements by the end of next month. This sweeping action targets some 240 Private Voluntary Organisations (PVOs) deemed non-compliant with the mandates of the PVO Act (Chapter 17:05).

The Registrar of PVOs, Mr. Tawanda Zimhunga, expressed grave concerns over the non-compliance of many registered PVOs with the operational expectations outlined in the Act. “The Registrar of PVOs has noted with concern that a number of registered Private Voluntary Organisations are not complying with the prescribed expectations of their operations,” Zimhunga stated.

Section 15 of the PVO Act mandates that PVOs must provide audited financial statements, annual activity reports, and other returns to the PVO Registrar annually. In light of widespread non-compliance, the Registrar has issued an ultimatum for these organizations to present current activity reports and audited financial statements by August 30, 2024, or face deregistration as per Section 10(c) of the Act.

The government’s move has sparked significant concern among civil society and international observers, who fear the potential shutdown could cripple vital community services and undermine civil liberties. The targeted organizations include prominent names such as the Howard Mission/Salvation Army, the Musasa Project, Action Aid, the Young Men’s Christian Association, and Mercy Corps.

Organizations that fail to meet the compliance deadline are urged to approach the Department of Social Development’s offices across the country. The Registrar’s office has specified that these PVOs must provide up-to-date information on their executive board members, physical addresses, contact details, audited financial statements, activity reports, and where applicable, links to websites and social media pages detailing their activities.

The stringent enforcement aims to ensure transparency and accountability within the NGO sector. However, critics argue that this move could be an attempt to stifle dissent and reduce the influence of independent organizations. The Registrar’s office has made available a list of non-compliant organizations and urged them to rectify their status promptly.

This regulatory crackdown includes high-profile organizations such as the Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (ZNNP+), the Accelerated Development Initiative, Life Care International, FACT, the Bethany Project, Zibakwe Trust, St Mary’s Children Village, and Consolidated Africa Services.

As the August 30 deadline looms, affected organizations face the daunting task of meeting the comprehensive requirements laid out by the government. Failure to comply could see the deregistration and subsequent shutdown of essential services provided by these NGOs, impacting countless beneficiaries across Zimbabwe.

For further information, concerned parties are advised to contact the Registrar’s office for PVOs at the Compensation Building, corner Central and Simon Muzenda Street, or visit provincial and district Social Welfare offices around the country.

The unfolding situation places the future of numerous NGOs in jeopardy, raising urgent questions about the balance between regulatory oversight and the operational freedom necessary for these organizations to effectively serve the public.

This development continues to unfold, with many watching closely to see the impact of this significant government action on Zimbabwe’s civil society landscape.-ZIANA

Watkins Carries Day For England

“I’ve been waiting for that moment for weeks,” said Ollie Watkins afterwards – and boy did he take it.

With the clock about to hit 90:00 in England’s Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands, with the score at 1-1 in Dortmund, the ball fell to the striker from Devon, who was still playing in the English Football League just over four years ago at the age of 24.

The Aston Villa man turned Stefan de Vrij and hammered a shot into the bottom corner for one of the most important England goals ever scored.

Rewind nine years and he had just finished a loan spell at non-league Weston-super-Mare from League Two Exeter City.

Asked after his Dortmund heroics whether he could have imagined this at the time, he said: “You can dream but I am a realist. I was just focused on getting back into the first team at Exeter.

“I didn’t dream about that to be honest. I can’t lie and say I did. Scoring for England is amazing but I didn’t think I’d do it in a tournament like that.”

Watkins’ winning goal more than justified Gareth Southgate’s decision to choose him to replace England’s all-time top scorer Harry Kane, with nine minutes to go. He came on alongside Cole Palmer, who set up his goal.

“I was wondering when the changes were going to happen. The changes were right and they were perfect,” said former England captain Alan Shearer on BBC Radio 5 Live.

One-Man-Band Gambakwe Arrested As SADC Welcomes Protesting Zimbabweans’ Into Premises

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Activist Pardon Gambakwe has been arrested.

Gambakwe was filming near the conference area of the ongoing SADC meeting of ministers in Lusaka when he was approached by officers looking for him.

A pale-faced Gambakwe was filming live when three officers walked up to him and ordered him to stop filming at the Mulungushi Conference premises.

His camera was swiftly switched off after officers noticed he was not following their directions.

The arrest comes at a time when some Zimbabweans successfully handed in their petition to SADC. Video footage shows Chamisa leader for South Africa Trust, Ndlovu, and local leader Peter Maposa marching into the Foreign Affairs Offices, where they were given ample time to meet the leadership inside.

But it was a different ballgame for Gambakwe, who was playing solo and somewhat in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was whisked away by officers on live camera.

The development comes at a time when, the previous night, Gambakwe had announced statements accusing the police and the nation’s leadership over a contentious matter whose wording may be covered under public order laws.

At around 8 p.m., he briefly told ZimEye he was still in police custody.

He suggested to ZimEye that he has been charged with “criminal trespass.”

A comment from the police was not possible at the time of writing.

The ongoing meeting is a convergence of SADC Foreign Affairs Ministers.- ZimEye

WHO Warns Of The Return Of COVID-19

By Health Reporter- The World Health Organization (WHO) has sent warnings of the return of COVID-19 and urged governments to enhance surveillance and bolster hospital capacity for patient treatment.

This warning comes in response to a rise in COVID-19 cases reported in several countries among pilgrims returning from the recent Hajj in Mecca.

Recently, in Zimbabwe, public figures, including former footballer Norman Maroto and CCC Senator Murisi Zwizwai, died of flu-like illnesses.

This has made the public speculate that these severe flu cases are linked to the coronavirus.

The government has, however, denied such claims.

In a letter dated July 4, 2024, addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry, Aspect Maunganidze, WHO country representative Desta Tiruneh said the government should make available oxygen in healthcare facilities to manage acute cases effectively. Wrote Tiruneh:

WHO has received a reported rise in a number of COVID-19 cases in some countries among pilgrims returning from the recent Hajj in Mecca. Countries with returning pilgrims carry a risk of a rise in new COVID-19 infections.

All countries concerned have been advised to heighten their readiness measures in case of a surge in cases.

The following measures are being proposed to countries for consideration to limit further spread of the virus:

  • Heighten COVID-19 surveillance by screening at the points of entry to identify (symptomatic) infected persons.
  • Knowing that the majority of cases may be asymptomatic and in view of limited testing advise all returnees to self-isolate for 5 days for those without symptoms and 7 days for those with symptoms.
  • Emphasize personal protection by use of masks, hand washing and avoiding public gatherings through riskcommunication activities.
  • Develop and run appropriate messages on electronic billboards at the airports on the current situation, risk of infection, prevention and where to seek care if sick.
  • Empower the people to seek for care when they don’t feel well but as a start, home care is recommended for those with mild symptoms.
  • Notify health facilities of the potential increase in cases and the need for a raised index of suspicion for COVID-19 especially in situations with limited testing capacity.
  • Ensure the availability of enough oxygen in the facilities for care of acute cases. Stock RDTs for diagnosis in facilities.
  • Undertake sufficient communication to the public to take personal responsibility and isolate themselves if they suspect to be infected and to seek care when ill.

WHO Member States are kindly advised to adhere to the International Health Regulations and not interfere with international travel but instead strengthen their surveillance and risk communication while preparing for care and treatment of those who may succumb to the illness. The most recent guidance for COVID-19 can be accessed on this link:

Mnangagwa In Massive Looting

By Tozvireva Masango- The Police have unveiled President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s construction of a multi-million-dollar mansion in Harare’s exclusive Hellensville neighbourhood, sparking serious concerns about the origins of his immense wealth.

Located on Wheeleon Road, the palatial property is being built by the Chinese company Zim Nantong Construction.

Spanning 25,000 square meters of prime urban land, the project has been ongoing for the past five years and includes eight cluster houses at various stages of completion.

The luxurious construction project came to public attention on Tuesday after police officers guarding the premises fired warning shots at suspected thieves who attempted to break into the property on Saturday night.

Mnangagwa, widely regarded as the richest man in Zimbabwe, is believed to control significant portions of the nation’s economy.

His fortune is reportedly built on corrupt mining operations, particularly in gold and diamonds, conducted in partnership with the military in Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

At the turn of the millennium, Mnangagwa, along with the late General Sibusiso Moyo and the late Airforce Commander Perrence Shiri, was named in a United Nations report as a chief looter of diamonds in the DRC.

In 1998, while serving as Justice Minister, Mnangagwa convinced the late President Robert Mugabe to deploy soldiers to the DRC under the pretense of solidarity with the late DRC President Laurent Kabila.

Further allegations of corruption surfaced in 2015 when Mugabe accused Mnangagwa of stealing US$15 billion in diamond revenue, which the Chinese mined under military management in Marange.

The stolen diamond money is believed to have funded the 2017 coup that ousted Mugabe, consolidating Mnangagwa’s grip on power.

This extravagant mansion stands as a stark symbol of Mnangagwa’s controversial legacy, built on a foundation of corruption and exploitation.

President Ruto Dismisses All Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General to Reduce Public Costs

Nairobi, Kenya – July 11, 2024 By Dorrothy Moyo | In a move aimed at reducing public expenditure and enhancing government efficiency, President William Ruto has announced the immediate dismissal of all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General from their posts. This drastic action comes amidst efforts to reorganize the national government executive and address pressing economic challenges.

In a detailed statement from State House, Nairobi, President Ruto outlined the significant progress his administration has made over the past two years under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Key achievements include stabilizing the economy, lowering the cost of living, and implementing major reforms in education, social welfare, and housing.

“We have achieved significant progress in increasing food production by reducing the cost of farm inputs, thereby lowering the cost of food and living,” stated President Ruto. “We have also stabilized the economy by preventing what was an imminent debt default, stabilizing fuel prices, lowering inflation, and stabilizing the foreign exchange regime, among others.”

However, the President acknowledged that recent events, particularly the withdrawal of the Finance Bill, necessitated a comprehensive review and reorganization of the budget and fiscal management. This prompted the President to use his constitutional powers to dismiss the entire Cabinet and the Attorney General, with the exception of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

“Upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges, I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya,” President Ruto announced. “This decision is necessary to accelerate and expedite the necessary, urgent and irreversible implementation of radical programmes to deal with the burden of debt, raise domestic resources, and expand job opportunities.”

The President emphasized that this decision followed extensive consultations with various sectors and political formations. “I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, with the aim of setting up a broad-based government that will assist me in accelerating and expediting the necessary reforms,” he added.

President Ruto assured the public that during this transition, government operations will continue uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials. “During this process, the operations of government will continue uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials,” he said. He also committed to announcing additional measures in due course to further ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of his administration.

This bold move underscores President Ruto’s commitment to transforming Kenya’s governance landscape and addressing the economic challenges facing the nation. The country now awaits the next steps in this significant reorganization of the national government executive. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.

Shock As 680 Minors Impregnated In Six Months

Zivhu Threatens Opposition with Vulgar Language Ahead of SADC Summit

By A Correspondent

Killer Zivhu, a controversial figure within Zanu PF, has stirred controversy by issuing threats to the opposition in crude terms, just weeks before the scheduled SADC Summit in August.

Over the weekend, Zivhu made the following statement:

“Ndadzoka kubva Kenya, mukangoita zve Kenya muno tokum*misayi big time, Zimbabwe nyika yorunyararo , Zimbabwe nyika yorugare iwe woti mweemwee mapurisa anowana takubata chaizvo. (I have returned from Kenya. If you attempt anything similar to what happened in Kenya, you will face serious consequences. Zimbabwe is a country of peace, and the police will handle you accordingly). “

These remarks have sparked widespread criticism, with many condemning the use of such inflammatory language, particularly in the sensitive pre-SADC Summit period.

Zivhu, known for his outspoken nature, has not responded to requests for clarification or withdrawal of his statements. The incident has heightened political tensions in Zimbabwe, with calls for restraint and adherence to democratic norms ahead of the regional summit.

The upcoming SADC Summit, slated to be hosted in Zimbabwe, remains a focal point for regional diplomacy, where leaders will address critical issues affecting Southern Africa.

Zanu PF Legislator Accuses Govt Of Distributing Rotten Maize Seeds

By A Correspondent| A Zanu PF Legislator for Rushinga, Tendai Nyabani yesterday accused government of distributing rotten maize seeds which do not germinate.

During a question and answer session in parliament, Nyabani asked leader of government business in the National Assembly, Ziyambi Ziyambi why government was distributing maize seeds which do not germinate.

Before he could finish his question, he was interjected by a point of order from a Zanu PF legislator who said Nyabani was lying.

The Speaker of the Day, Tsitsi Gezi reprimanded Nyabani and told him to ask questions based on facts.

Sensing danger, Nyabani rephrased his question asking if government was aware of the storage conditions of maize seeds which he said was affecting the germination rate.

Wicknell Chivayo Mike Chimombe 3rd Leaked Audio | FULL TEXT

Wicknell Chivayo: Whenever money pops out Mike you end up phoning and bothering me. I’m in Namibia at Nampower. I will be back on Friday. I’ve received the proof. I will forward it. Can we just wait on them once they have paid? I will let you know I’ve received so much. I will then share. But the problem with you is that you start a war. But that’s not very good behaviour. Relax, relax I know you want money I also want money too. You have a problem that you get emotional. You must change that attitude, if at all we’re going to work together. We can’t have the same problem all the time you said last time this and that, but that should be a thing of the past , I told you that there is more money that is coming that you want to be able to stop. Don’t put words in my mouth. I never said what you are saying. I said the first payment that is coming there is not even any profit because we had to match the price for the tents in Lobatse. So there’s really nothing here don’t even raise your hopes. Don’t even be disappointed the other money, yes, there’s reasonable profit.

Mike Chimombe: Hello CEO, it is not an issue of being greedy or what, but when we text or phone a simple update is needed. The only issue is of communication which you have been telling us, guys you need to be communicating. But when you go quiet after receiving proof of money, we then start wondering that our mate changes character whenever money comes out; A war has to happen for the rest of the money to be released, and we end up having to chase each other down to airports. That then becomes a not so good thing.
If we can just know how much each month is producing we will just know each cent, and we conclude things just like that. Even before the money has come out.If we can just know the numbers in advance. Did you not make us sign for a US$17 million agreement, so that we are sure what’s coming out; but then this type of money that cikes out here and there, why does it become a problem? We thank you.

Health Experts Wary Of Zoonotic Diseases

Zoonotic diseases which are transmitted from animals to humans, are posing a significant public health challenge in Zimbabwe, with experts calling for increased awareness and preventive measures.

Estimated to contribute to a staggering 70% of all emerging infectious diseases in humans, zoonotic diseases are now a cause for concern.

As the world grapples with the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, a zoonotic disease veterinarian, Dr Toonse Mudimba underscores the potential for animal-borne pathogens to cause global pandemics.

“The recent COVID-19 pandemic originated from bats, animals. It caused a global pandemic that affected humans, then we have diseases like the Ebola virus among others. So, veterinarians are very important in the control or detection of zoonotic diseases because if they detect these diseases very early, we can then prevent them from being transmitted to humans. They are also key in disease surveillance, they can always monitor the vectors which are involved in transmitting these diseases.

“So if those issues are dealt with early by veterinarians then it means humans can be prevented from getting these diseases. Most domesticated animals will be on top of my list for transmitting zoonotic diseases because we are a country invested in agriculture. So these domesticated animals have different zoonotic diseases that we get in Zimbabwe like rabies from dogs, anthrax from cattle, we get brucellosis from consuming contaminated milk from cattle. We also have reservoir animals.”

Dr Mudimba advocates for a “One Health” approach, noting the need for collaboration between veterinarians and public health officials.

Spaniards Eye Euro Glory

MUNICH, GERMANY, July 9 (Reuters) –

Spain struck twice in five minutes in a pulsating first half to secure a 2-1 comeback win over France on Tuesday as a record-breaking goal from teenager Lamine Yamal and a Dani Olmo effort propelled them into the Euro 2024 final.

The 16-year-old Yamal cancelled out Randal Kolo Muani’s opener with a sublime shot in the 21st minute to become the youngest scorer in a Euro or World Cup before Olmo added another in the 25th for his third goal in the knockout stage.

The Spaniards, who have won every game of the tournament so far, confirmed their favourites tag with another display of attacking football, especially in the first half, that is a far cry from the tiki-taka passing game that earned them world and European titles more than a decade ago.
“I’m very happy to have made it to the final,” said man-of-the-match Yamal.

“Now the most important thing is to win it. We were in a difficult moment, you wouldn’t expect a goal so soon.”
“I wanted to put it in where it went in, and I’m very happy.

I’m happy and content with the victory. I want to win, win and win,” added the teenager.

They will now face the winners of Wednesday’s match between England and Netherlands in the final in Berlin on Sunday as they hunt a record-breaking fourth European crown.

It was a anti-climactic end to France’s tournament, although the 2022 World Cup finalists never lived up to expectations in Germany with a very low conversion rate that carried into the semi-final.
“Spain proved tonight that they are a very good team.

We were fortunate to open the scoring, but they caused us problems because they were superior in terms of control,” said France coach Didier Deschamps.

This alleged act of forgery is said to have resulted in the misappropriation of a staggering 7 million USD.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the controversial nature of the accusations and the prominence of the individuals involved.

Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, both well-known figures in Zimbabwean business circles, have been under scrutiny since their arrest. The allegations suggest a serious breach of trust and misuse of public funds intended for a government initiative.

The postponement of their bail ruling indicates a complex legal process ahead.

The charges leveled against them, if proven true, could carry severe penalties under Zimbabwean law.

The Presidential Goat Scheme, designed to support local agriculture and empower communities through livestock farming, has been marred by these allegations.

The government’s swift action in investigating and prosecuting these claims underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.

As the legal proceedings unfold, stakeholders and the public at large await further developments in this high-profile case.

The outcome of the bail hearing on 16th July will likely be a pivotal moment in determining the course of justice for Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu amidst the allegations of fraud surrounding the Presidential Goat Scheme.

CBD Oil and Drug Tests: What Every Athlete Should Consider

The use of CBD oil has skyrocketed in recent years, with athletes among those who have embraced its potential benefits. From pain management to anxiety reduction, CBD offers a range of therapeutic effects that can support athletic performance and recovery.

However, the relationship between CBD oil and drug testing in sports remains a critical concern for many athletes. This blog explores what every athlete should consider when using CBD oil, focusing on the implications for drug tests.

Understanding CBD and Its Benefits for Athletes

Cannabis plants contain a non-psychoactive substance called cannabidiol, or CBD. Contrary to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD does not produce psychoactivity and instead offers a number of potential health benefits, such as the reduction of anxiety, pain, and inflammation. These benefits are particularly beneficial for athletes who must cope with the physical and mental demands of their sport.

CBD Oil and Drug Testing: The Basics

Drug tests in sports are designed to detect substances that may enhance performance or are deemed harmful to an athlete’s health. While CBD itself is not a prohibited substance, the concern arises from the potential presence of THC in CBD products. THC is the psychoactive component of cannabis and is banned by many sports organizations.

Types of CBD Products

Understanding the types of CBD products available is crucial for athletes concerned about drug testing:

  1. Full-Spectrum CBD: Containing all cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, with trace amounts of THC (up to 0.3%) present.
  2. Broad-Spectrum CBD: Contains multiple cannabinoids but is processed to remove THC.
  3. CBD Isolate: Pure CBD with no other cannabinoids, including THC.

Potential Risks of THC Contamination

Even small amounts of THC can accumulate in the body over time, potentially leading to a positive drug test. This risk is higher with full-spectrum CBD products, which may contain trace levels of THC. Broad-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate products offer a lower risk, but cross-contamination during manufacturing can still occur.

Regulatory Status and Guidelines

Different sports organizations have varying policies regarding CBD and THC. For instance:

  • World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA): As of 2018, WADA removed CBD from its list of prohibited substances but maintains a strict ban on THC.
  • National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA): Prohibits the use of THC and all cannabinoids, including synthetic versions, in competition.

Athletes must be aware of the specific regulations of their governing bodies and choose CBD products accordingly.

Tips for Athletes Using CBD Oil

  1. Choose the Right Product: Opt for broad-spectrum CBD or CBD isolate to minimize the risk of THC exposure. Verify the product’s THC content by checking third-party lab test results.
  2. Source from Reputable Brands: Purchase CBD products from reputable manufacturers known for their quality control and transparency. Look for brands that provide third-party lab testing results.
  3. Understand Your Body’s Metabolism: Factors such as body fat, metabolism, and frequency of use can influence how long THC stays in your system. Be mindful of these factors when using CBD products. Alson, learn in-depth about “how long does weed stay in hair” follicle.
  4. Consult with a Healthcare Professional: Before incorporating CBD oil into your routine, consult with a healthcare professional knowledgeable about CBD and sports. They can provide guidance based on your specific needs and circumstances.

Managing Drug Testing Risks

Athletes can take additional steps to mitigate the risk of a positive drug test:

  • Regular Testing: Periodically test yourself for THC to monitor any potential accumulation in your system. Home drug testing kits can provide preliminary insights.
  • Timing of Use: Consider the timing of CBD use relative to competitions and drug tests. Allowing a sufficient window between the last use of CBD and a scheduled test can help reduce the risk.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of the CBD products used, including batch numbers, purchase dates, and lab test results. This documentation can be useful if you need to demonstrate due diligence in avoiding THC exposure.

Legal Considerations

The legal status of CBD varies by country and state. In some regions, CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC to be legally sold, while others may have stricter regulations. Understanding the legal landscape in your area is essential to avoid potential legal issues.

The Future of CBD in Sports

As research into CBD and its effects continues to grow, sports organizations may update their policies to reflect new findings. The evolving legal and scientific landscape suggests that the relationship between CBD oil and sports drug testing will continue to develop.

Conclusion

Athletes can benefit greatly from CBD oil in many ways, including reduced anxiety and soreness. However, before using, one must carefully examine the potential of THC contamination and its implications for drug tests.

Athletes may optimize the advantages of CBD while lowering their chances of testing positive for drugs by selecting products from reputable sources and keeping up to date on laws. The landscape of CBD in sports is always evolving, so being informed and proactive is essential to overcoming all the challenges in this area.

Julius Malema Caught In James Bond Money Shoes

The figure of Julius Malema, the preacher of land seizure without compensation, clad in attire that contradicts his revolutionary rhetoric, stands as a poignant symbol of hypocrisy. Adorned in a suit more polished than the wardrobe of the quintessential imperialist, James Bond, Malema’s image is a glaring contradiction. His British black shoes, immaculate and gleaming, paired with a pristine bow tie, are not just an ironic fashion choice but a betrayal of his proclaimed ideals. His wife, attired with an elegance that surpasses the most colonial of UK royals, only deepens the paradox.

James Bond?… no Julius Malema

Nothing on Malema’s body, from the tips of his shoes to the cut of his suit, whispers of African craftsmanship or trade. Every item is a product of English shops, establishments that have thrived on the wealth accumulated from the very white-owned farms he decries. The capital that funded his attire is the same capital he claims perpetuates the exploitation of South Africa’s black population. It’s a sartorial slap in the face to the very cause he champions, revealing a dissonance between his appearance and his advocacy.

His shiny shoes, crafted by an artisan whose skills were honed in the traditions of English cobbling, mock the rhetoric of empowerment he so vehemently espouses. They shine with the reflection of a heritage he publicly scorns, yet privately embraces. This visual dissonance between Malema’s polished exterior and his fiery rhetoric raises uncomfortable questions about the authenticity of his crusade.

The stark contrast between Malema’s attire and his message underscores a deeper issue: the disconnection between political posturing and lived reality. His call for the seizure of lands, ostensibly to redress historical injustices, rings hollow when juxtaposed with his personal embrace of the symbols of colonial opulence. It’s a visual testimony to the gap between his words and his actions, a gap that casts doubt on his sincerity and the viability of his solutions.

In the end, Malema’s fashion choices speak louder than his speeches. They reveal a man entangled in the very fabric he seeks to tear down, a leader whose personal choices undermine his public proclamations. It’s a stark reminder that the trappings of power and the allure of status can easily obscure the purity of a cause, leaving behind a legacy of contradictions and unmet promises.

Malema can be contrasted with Jacob Zuma, his likely total opposite. The juxtaposition between these two figures illuminates a striking divergence in their approaches to leadership and representation within South Africa’s socio-political tapestry. Julius Malema, with his affinity for impeccably tailored suits and polished British black shoes, projects an image of Western sophistication that sharply contrasts with his radical rhetoric. This sartorial choice, sourced from English shops, starkly opposes the grassroots struggle he claims to champion, revealing a disconnect that resonates with the public’s skepticism.

On the other hand, Jacob Zuma frequently dons traditional African attire, garments that resonate deeply with the cultural heritage and daily lives of South Africa’s majority. Zuma’s clothing choices serve as a tangible connection to the people, symbolizing an umbilical cord to the masses whose struggles and aspirations he genuinely embodies. His traditional garb is not merely a fashion statement but a reaffirmation of cultural identity and solidarity, which has significantly bolstered his support base.

This stark contrast is vividly reflected in the recent electoral outcomes, where Zuma’s alignment with traditional values and identity contributed to his sustained popularity, even as the African National Congress (ANC) faced significant political challenges. Zuma’s attire and its symbolic resonance stand in sharp opposition to Malema’s polished, Westernized image, which often seems disconnected from the everyday realities of the people he seeks to lead.

While Malema speaks of revolution and empowerment, his appearance frequently tells a different story, one that suggests a detachment from the economic and cultural realities of his constituents. In contrast, Zuma’s traditional attire symbolizes a profound connection to the African identity and the struggles of the masses. This alignment with cultural heritage has enabled Zuma to maintain a robust support base, reflecting a deep resonance with the electorate that transcends mere political rhetoric.

The divergent images of Malema and Zuma extend beyond their political ideologies to their embodiments of cultural identity and solidarity. Zuma’s traditional attire signifies a genuine commitment to the people’s heritage and challenges, fostering a sense of trust and authenticity. Conversely, Malema’s Westernized appearance underscores a perceived disconnection from the cultural and economic realities of the masses, highlighting a paradox within his revolutionary narrative.

In essence, the contrast between Malema and Zuma offers a profound insight into the dynamics of leadership and representation in South Africa’s evolving political landscape. Zuma’s alignment with traditional values and cultural identity has fortified his political standing, while Malema’s polished image raises questions about the authenticity of his revolutionary aspirations. This dichotomy underscores the complex interplay between appearance, cultural identity, and political legitimacy in the quest for effective leadership.

Mnangagwa Fires Byo Party Senior Official

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF president Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired the party’s losing candidate for the Bulawayo Central constituency, Tendai Charuka.

The party also barred Charuka from holding any position within the party or from representing himself as a member.

In a letter dated July 9th, 2024, Zanu PF’s Bulawayo deputy provincial chairman, Victor Mpofu, informed Charuka that his suspension was effective immediately. Wrote Mpofu:

You are being advised that at a leadership meeting composed of local Central Committee members held at Davis Hall on Sunday, June 23, 2024, it was resolved that you be suspended from the party.

Thus, you are no longer holding any position within Zanu PF with immediate effect, nor are you supposed to hold yourself as a member of ZANU PF during your suspension.

According to a Bulawayo online news portal an unnamed source revealed that Tendai Charuka’s suspension from Zanu PF could be linked to his alleged involvement in the chaotic illegal vending activities at the 5th Avenue and Bhaktas vending sites within Bulawayo’s central business district.

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that Charuka was part of a syndicate that was illegally parcelling out non-existent vending bays at these designated vending areas. Said the source:

There is a lady who is alleged to be working with Charuka who is misleading desperate people looking for vending bays.

We were told that this person was making people pay $34 for the bay and then advising them to get fingerprints done at the police station.

Such conduct is likely to cause problems when the vendors who were given these bays by the council come to commence their operations.

The victims are likely to lose their money. No one will be allocated any vending bays without following the proper channels of registering through the council.

The vending bays at the 5th Avenue and Bhaktas sites were officially allocated by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) in June, and the vendors who were granted these designated vending spaces were advised to ensure they made all their required payments by the end of that month to commence their operations.

Supreme Court Upholds Ruling in Favor of Mayor Wadyajena, Orders Return of Seized Vehicles

By A Correspondent| In a pivotal legal development, the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe has dismissed the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC) appeal against a lower court ruling that favored Justice Mayor Wadyajena, a prominent businessman. The appeal had sought to overturn a decision mandating the return of a fleet of vehicles seized by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) from Mayor Logistics (Private) Limited, a company associated with Wadyajena.

The Supreme Court’s decision, which was made on procedural grounds, highlighted the NPA’s non-compliance with Rule 55 (5) of the Supreme Court Rules (2018), which requires the payment of security costs. Due to this oversight, the appeal was deemed abandoned and dismissed under Sub-rule (6) of Rule 55.

This ruling reinforces a previous judgement by the High Court, which found that the vehicles, including 23 haulage trucks and a Lamborghini SUV, had been unlawfully held by authorities. The vehicles were initially seized in August 2022 in connection with allegations that Wadyajena and several executives from the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) defrauded the company of USD 5.8 million. The charges against Wadyajena and the other accused—Cottco officials Pious Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Fortunate Molai, and Chiedza Danha—were dropped before plea last year, leaving the possibility open for the State to re-initiate trial should new evidence emerge.

Justice Tawanda Chitapi of the High Court had earlier ruled that the extended seizure of Wadyajena’s property was unlawful, as the authorities had failed to apply for an extension beyond the initial 30-day period granted in August 2022.

The Supreme Court’s dismissal of the NPA’s appeal marks a significant victory for Wadyajena in his prolonged legal battle with ZACC. The judgement not only restores his assets but also underscores the importance of procedural compliance in legal proceedings.

Police Expose Mnangagwa Mass Corruption

By Tozvireva Masango- The Zimbabwe Republic Police have unveiled President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s construction of a multi-million-dollar mansion in Harare’s exclusive Hellensville neighbourhood, sparking serious concerns about the origins of his immense wealth.

In Case You Missed It: ??? ??? ???? ???????? ??? ??? ??????? ???? ?????????

23 March, 2022.

There has been a sustained casting of aspersions over the success of businessman Mr Kudakwashe Tagwirei, whom I will simply call Kuda, from anti-Zimbabwe media and activists both locally and outside the country in recent days. This misguided mischief cannot go unchallenged.

The ultimate intention of these activists is to discredit the successful Command Agriculture and sustain illegal sanctions imposed on Kuda by some western countries.

What has miffed these western countries and the anti-government activists and media is the role Kuda has been playing in the revival of the Zimbabwean economy as a businessman.

The success of Command Agriculture, which has resulted in the food security being enjoyed in Zimbabwe, can safely be attributed to Command Agriculture in which Kuda’s Sakunda Holdings played a role.

In all the negative and false reports about Kuda and Sakunda, no one has dared to trace how he rose from humble beginnings to become the successful businessman he now is.
In this article, I seek to give a glimpse of how Kuda worked hard with the help of his wife, Sandra, to climb the ladder of success.

Contrary to the perception being pushed by anti-Zimbabwe organisations such as the United States-based #TheSentry, Kuda and his wife, Sandra, did not just wake up with successful businesses.

They sacrificed a lot of effort and the little they had and did not seek favours from anyone in their journey to success.

I have heard so many people talking about how Kuda was allegedly enriched by corrupt deals with government.

But from what I have gathered, if there is anything that made Kuda, credit must go to his wife, Sandra, and their religious faith that inspired them to focus on growing each other.

The story of Kuda’s business life starts with his retrenchment from one of Zimbabwe’s biggest banks, and one day, sitting in a fuel queue for hours, the two realised that sanctions were driving out the leading Western fuel companies and this had left a huge gap in the market for the supply of fuel.

After Kuda got his retrenchment package, he combined with his wife to create #Sakunda, which is a neologism of Sandra and Kuda.

They then went on to apply for a fuel trading license and sadly, that year, 2002, only 149 fuel licenses were issued by government and Sakunda missed out.

Instead of despairing, Sandra and Kuda leased a fuel licence from one of the people who had been awarded a licence.

In their first six months, they got a contract to supply US$500 000 worth of fuel per month to some entity, but they didn’t have the money.

They subsequently approached Sandra’s former boss and were advised to mortgage their house for the loan and they did just that.

After getting the loan, they began to push half a million dollars worth of fuel every month.

With growing fuel shortages in the country and money in hand, they grew their business rapidly and in 10 years they owned numerous service stations, a fleet of trucks and were selling over 20 million litres of fuel per month.

By 2012, Sakunda was the biggest fuel supplier in Zimbabwe and this attracted the attention of the intelligence services, who wanted to know the owner of this monumental business.

By now, only a few of the 149 licence holders had built proper, flourishing fuel businesses.

The biggest of the players were Sakunda, Chigumba and Shingai Mutasa of Zuva.

Most others had made money, externalised it, spend it or divested from fuel to other industries; but the top three had made money, reinvested their profits back into Zimbabwe, stuck with the industry, built world class black businesses and eliminated fuel queues.

After some background checks by the intelligence, the then Minister of Energy Elias Mudzuri, an MDCT Minister, approached Sakunda and offered them a share of the Beira pipeline because the Government had no money or capacity to carry the 60 million litres of fuel they were contracted to carry, thus they were losing money in fees for unused pipeline capacity.

The other companies didn’t have the risk appetite, capacity or money required for the contract, so they declined the offer.

Sakunda then the biggest company in Zim by revenue, then undertook to move the 60 million-litre pipeline capacity offered to them, plus utilisation of the storage capacity at Beira.

This also meant keeping 23 million litres dormant in the pipeline to facilitate siphonage.

As fortune would have it, ever since 2002, Kuda had gone on to study fuel and commodity trading in Europe where he forged valuable relationships with executives from commodity traders such as Trafigura, Glencore and others.

In the process, he appraised them on the latent opportunity in the Zimbabwe fuel market which lead to them joining him in growing the storage and pipeline capacity to 120 million litres per month.

So, while Sakunda was making money selling fuel as many Zimbabweans did in the early 2000s, the executives improved their competencies by learning international commodity trade.

Consequently, Kuda was invited to be one of the few Africans in the World Economic Forum.

Here, he created relationships with the biggest commodity brokerage executives, bankers and captains of industry, which developed his international credit rating to get fuel on loan for Zimbabwe.

Sandra and Kuda took a gamble, investing in sending fuel down a pipeline even though they had dozens of trucks.

This drastically reduced their fuel costs and increased their margins exponentially.

By being smart, taking risks, keeping money at hand to take advantage of opportunities in Zimbabwe and being willing to invest their money in projects like the pipeline and by reinvesting their money in the same business for years, Sandra and Kuda made lots of money and grew wealthy.

To increase their chances of making money, instead of externalising their profits, they kept it in Zimbabwe to take advantage of high margin opportunities in the money minting industries of insurance, banking, investment banking, mining, transport, energy and agriculture.

Meanwhile, other entrepreneurs made their money in Zimbabwe and erroneously divested from high growth Zimbabwe and invested in saturated and low growth markets like Europe and South Africa.

As a result, the likes of James Makamba, Mawere and Vingirai did not continue to do as well as they were doing before.

The likes of Kamushinda focused some of their business activities in Namibia, while Sandra and Kuda kept sowing their money back in Zimbabwe and reaping big.

And now that they have made more money than most, by remaining in Zimbabwe, they are demonised and called a monopoly for being smart, patriotic and innovative.

What many of their detractors forget is that when many were favoured members of empowerment vehicles, Sandra and Kuda were mere employees and outsiders looking in.

They were only recognised by government because of their immense contribution to stabilising the fuel shortage in Zimbabwe.

My advice to Zimbabweans is: learn from Sandra and her man. See the opportunities that these sanctions have opened up for indigenous people like they did and make money before we, the Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Movement (ZASM), succeed in getting these sanctions removed and western competition floods Zimbabwe.

There will never be another gold rush in Zimbabwe like we are currently seeing now, so learn from the best, solve Zimbabwean problems and make money instead of complaining and discrediting those who have made successes.

Rutendo Bereza Matinyarare is the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Movement, an organisation that is fighting for the removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by some western countries.

Massive SADC Demo In Zambia Against ED

Breaking News: Massive SADC Demonstration Scheduled in Lusaka, Zambia

Lusaka, Zambia — July 10, 2024

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | In a significant development, Lusaka is set to host a massive protest organized by Zimbabwean citizens and regional activists. The demonstration, planned for July 11 and 12, 2024, aims to draw attention to the ongoing political and human rights issues in Zimbabwe. The protest is set to take place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, starting from 08:00 to 14:00 on both days.

The demonstration comes at a critical juncture as Zimbabweans and concerned regional parties approach the Southern African Development Community (SADC) over the delayed release of the official report on the 2023 Zimbabwean elections. The report, which has been the subject of much anticipation, is expected to address numerous allegations of electoral fraud and irregularities purportedly overlooked by the incumbent president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe has been under intense scrutiny following the 2023 elections, which many international observers and local opposition parties claim were marred by significant irregularities and instances of voter suppression. The unrest and dissatisfaction have only grown as the government, led by President Mnangagwa, has been accused of ignoring calls for transparency and accountability.

Protest Objectives

The organizers of the protest, under the banner “Rise Up Zimbabwe,” have articulated several key objectives for the demonstration:

  1. Demanding Accountability: Protesters are calling for SADC to expedite the release of its comprehensive report on the 2023 elections, which they believe will confirm the widespread allegations of electoral misconduct.
  2. Addressing Corruption and Nepotism: The demonstration seeks to highlight and combat the endemic corruption and nepotism within Zimbabwe’s political system.
  3. Advocating for Human Rights: Protesters are urging regional and international bodies to take a firmer stance on the human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated by the Zimbabwean government.

Regional Implications

The protest in Lusaka underscores the regional implications of Zimbabwe’s internal political struggles. Zambia, as a neighboring country and a member of SADC, plays a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and potentially mediating the crisis. The involvement of SADC is particularly significant as it has historically been a key player in addressing regional conflicts and ensuring stability within the member states.

Security Measures

Given the expected turnout and the high-profile nature of the event, extensive security measures have been put in place. The Zambian government has assured that it will facilitate a peaceful protest while maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all participants.

Conclusion

As the protest approaches, all eyes will be on Lusaka, where the voices of Zimbabweans and their regional supporters will seek to make a powerful statement. The outcome of this demonstration could significantly influence the political landscape in Zimbabwe and potentially prompt decisive action from SADC and other international bodies.

Stay tuned for live updates and coverage of the protest in Lusaka, as the situation continues to evolve.

Mnangagwa Builds A Multi-Million Dollar Private Mansion

By Tozvireva Masango- President Emmerson Mnangagwa is constructing a multi-million dollar personal mansion in the exclusive Hellensville neighbourhood of Harare, raising serious questions about the source of his vast wealth.

Malema’s EFF Fights In Makhadzi’s Corner Over BET Awards Snub

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) condemns the recent actions taken by the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture under the leadership of Minister Gayton McKenzie, which have unjustly victimised the talented and hardworking artist Makhadzi.

This situation arose from a promise made by the Minister, in his eagerness to appease public sentiment, to cease what he termed the “wasting” of money on official supporters.

When the department faced backlash over this promise, questions were raised about their lack of support for Makhadzi’s trip to the United States of America to receive her BET Award for Best New International Act, where she represented South Africa with distinction.

Instead of addressing their stance on official supporters, the department chose to deflect by disclosing the amounts of money they paid to Makhadzi for her performances and appearances. This attempt to portray these payments as a form of support is both disingenuous and reprehensible.

Let us be clear: the payments made to Makhadzi were for professional services rendered, not gratuitous support. To insinuate otherwise is to undermine her achievements and hard work.

The Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture should focus on addressing the numerous instances of mismanagement and corruption within their purview, particularly by top politicians, rather than targeting a successful black woman who has brought pride to our nation.

It is common knowledge that this department has consistently failed to support artists adequately. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the EFF who stepped in to provide the necessary aid to struggling artists when the department fell short.

This department has even earned the moniker “Department of Condolences” due to its tendency to offer platitudes rather than tangible support.

We call on the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture to redirect their efforts towards eradicating the wasteful expenditure and corruption that plague their operations, and begin to implement programmes that actually support artists.

Additionally, Minister McKenzie must stand by his commitments without scapegoating artists like Makhadzi, who embody the excellence of our nation’s creative sector.

The EFF stands in full support of Makhadzi and all artists who tirelessly work to elevate South African arts and culture on the global stage.

We demand that the department retract their misleading statements and issue a formal apology to Makhadzi for their baseless and damaging insinuations.

It is time for the department to genuinely support our artists and uphold the dignity of their contributions to our national heritage.

Anything To Expect From Zanu PF Annual Conference?

Tinashe Sambiri

The recent Policy and Co-ordination meeting at the Zanu PF Party HQ, addressed by Secretary General Dr. Obert Mpofu, shed light on a troubling reality: Zimbabwe’s ruling party continues to grapple with accusations of widespread corruption and mismanagement. As preparations intensify for the upcoming 21st National People’s Conference in Bulawayo this October, concerns over governance and accountability loom large.

The meeting, portrayed by critics as nothing more than a facade for endorsing looting, anarchy, and chaos, underscores deep-seated issues within Zanu PF.

The term “fat cats” has become synonymous with those in power who allegedly exploit their positions for personal gain, draining the nation’s resources while the majority struggle to make ends meet.

Dr. Obert Mpofu’s address, while focusing on logistical details for the upcoming conference, failed to quell mounting discontent both within and outside the party. Zimbabweans, weary of economic hardships and a crumbling infrastructure, are increasingly vocal about their frustrations.

Many view the party conference as a stage for the elite to consolidate power rather than a forum for addressing critical national issues.

The choice of Bulawayo as the conference venue raises eyebrows, given the city’s historical significance and current socio-economic challenges. Some critics argue that holding such a high-profile event in Bulawayo should symbolize a commitment to addressing regional disparities and economic inequalities.

However, skepticism persists regarding whether Zanu PF’s leadership will prioritize genuine reform or continue with business as usual.

At its core, the upcoming conference serves as a litmus test for Zanu PF’s ability to adapt and respond to the pressing needs of Zimbabweans. Calls for transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance have echoed across the nation, with civil society organizations and opposition voices demanding meaningful change.

As Zimbabwe navigates turbulent waters, characterized by economic uncertainty and social unrest, the role of Zanu PF in shaping the country’s future remains pivotal.

Beyond rhetoric and political maneuvering, Zimbabweans yearn for tangible improvements in their daily lives—accessible healthcare, quality education, and sustainable job opportunities.

The 21st National People’s Conference must not be reduced to a mere spectacle of power and influence.

It must serve as a catalyst for genuine dialogue and concrete actions aimed at rebuilding trust between the government and its citizens.

Only through meaningful engagement and responsible leadership can Zimbabwe chart a course towards a more equitable and prosperous future.

In the coming months, all eyes will be on Bulawayo as delegates gather under the banner of Zanu PF.

Their decisions and commitments will reverberate far beyond the walls of the conference venue, shaping the socio-political landscape of Zimbabwe for years to come.

Tshabangu Endorses Mnangagwa SADC Chairmanship

By A Correspondent

Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, has urged everyone to support Zanu PF leader Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s upcoming assumption of the SADC Chairmanship.

However, political observers have labelled Tshabangu as a protege of Zanu PF.

In a statement on Monday, Tshabangu expressed his stance:
“This August, our country will host a summit for SADC nations, where Zimbabwe will have the honor of chairing the bloc.

This move is crucial for strengthening bilateral relations among member countries. As the opposition, we welcome Zimbabwe’s chairmanship.”

Tshabangu’s endorsement of Mnangagwa’s leadership in SADC comes amid ongoing political developments within Zimbabwe, where the Citizens Coalition for Change is positioning itself as a significant player ahead of national elections.

The SADC summit, scheduled for August, is anticipated to provide Zimbabwe with a platform to foster regional cooperation and address pertinent socio-economic issues affecting member states.

Observers continue to scrutinize Tshabangu’s alignment with Zanu PF, questioning the implications of his support for Mnangagwa’s regional leadership role amidst domestic political dynamics.

As preparations for the summit progress, stakeholders are closely monitoring how Mnangagwa’s chairmanship will impact Zimbabwe’s foreign policy and regional standing within the Southern African Development Community.

Another Zim Youngster Shines

Another Zimbabwean prospect has signed his first professional contract at English Championship side Cardiff City.

Dakarai Mafico agreed to his first pro terms at the club to join fellow countryman Tanatswa Nyakuhwa, who has signed a similar deal.

Mafico is related to football commentator Steve Vickers. He was born in the UK to Zimbabwean parents.

City confirmed the news on their website, saying: “Dakarai Mafico has extended his stay following a season of real progress in the 2023/24 campaign.

“After making an impression for the U18s and U21s, the midfielder was included on the First Team bench on the final day of the season against Rotherham United.”

Speaking after signing the deal, the youngster said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a professional contract. I’ve been working so hard going through the age groups, it’s been an enjoyable time at the Club so far and I can’t wait for more opportunities to come. It was a really positive season for me individually. I played for the U18s a lot, but also stepped in to the U21s.

“Being on the bench for the First Team against Rotherham just topped it off. It was probably the highlight of my season. I’m hoping to get more opportunities next season if they come, but at the moment, all I’m focusing on is working hard and giving everything my all.”

Tshabangu Council Cracks-Down On Harare Bottle Stores

By Municipal Reporter- The Sengezo Tshabangu CCC-run Harare City Council is cracking down on what it calls the growing number of bottle stores in the city centre.

The council says these bottle stores have been linked to chaos and unsanitary conditions.

It says complaints include bottle stores staying open past the mandated 8pm closing time, patrons harassing people, public urination and traffic congestion caused by the stores.
Council spokesperson Mr Stanely Gama told the state media that the lawlessness caused by the bottle stores must stop.
“We have identified stores with expired licenses. These licenses will be rigorously reviewed before renewal,” he said.“Stricter regulations are being implemented to make it harder for problematic bottle stores to obtain licenses. Additionally, unlicensed stores will be shut down.
“Residents are encouraged to report such issues to the City Council. By working together, the city aims to restore order and maintain the beauty of Harare.”

Mwonzora Attacks Welshman, Salutes Chamisa

By Political Reporter- The leader of the MDC, Douglas Mwonzora, has attacked the Welshman Ncube-led Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) and its Members of Parliament for supporting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s third-term plans.

Chamisa left the contaminated CCC early this year after Zanu PF implants frustrated him.

Mwonzora in Bulawayo at the weekend told reporters that Mnangagwa’s recent assertion that he will not seek a third term and will retire at the end of his second and final term in 2028 was a lie.

He alleged that the CCC lawmakers have tacitly approved Mnangagwa’s purported plans to remain in power beyond the constitutionally mandated two-term limit. Said Mwonzora:

The president’s party, ZANU PF, is talking about his presidential term ending in 2030. We know they want to extend the term of office by another term but their ZANU PF lawyers are aware that extending a term may be difficult so they want to extend the presidential term to say it is not five years but now seven years.

Most of their leaders are in agreement. This is selling out Zimbabwe’s constitution, and the people and is selfish because these MPs want to stay in Parliament for as long as possible.

Others have left their political parties to form another party, abandon it, form another one and the people who arerunning this project are former officers from the Border Gezi masquerading as the opposition. They are busy taking the opposition for the ride.

Mwonzora substantiated his claims that CCC is heavily compromised by citing circumstantial evidence. He said:

There is a legal phrase res ipsa loquitur meaning facts speak for themselves. Don’t you see they are compromised? Don’t you see they have a given Emmerson Mnangagwa two-thirds majority?

Don’t you see the leader of the CCC was quiet when the recalls were done? Right now CCC in Parliament have not spoken against the third term, I dare them to speak against the third term.

Mwonzora acknowledged that during his tenure as the leader of the opposition in Parliament, he would occasionally meetwith Mnangagwa and “never made a secret of it”, in contrast to the CCC leaders who have reportedly been hosted at lavish banquets at State House. He said:

I would go to meet him as leader of the opposition but never, never did President Mnangagwa or his wife throw a party for me.

President Mnangagwa’s wife threw a party for the CCC MPs in the State House. What more evidence do we require?

Our brothers and sisters have been compromised and are supporting the third term, supporting the extension of the term of President Mnangagwa.

They have not spoken against a third term, they have actually agreed that Mnangagwa must extend his term. Let them come out and deny it. They have not denounced it.

However, Mwonzora’s allegations against the CCC appear to be a case of the pot calling the kettle black, as he himselfpreviously supported a constitutional amendment while he was the leader of the opposition in Parliament.

In 2021, Mwonzora defended MDC lawmakers for joining ZANU PF MPs in supporting a constitutional amendment that removed the requirement for a presidential running mate, extended the women’s quota, and removed the 70-year retirement age cap for judges.

Zanu PF Annual Conference An Endorsement Of Looting, Chaos, Anarchy…

Bootlicking Tshabangu Challenges Everyone To Support Mnangagwa’s SADC Chairmanship

Mwonzora Barred From Walking In Bulawayo

Police last Saturday barred the MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora, from conducting a walkabout in Bulawayo.

He had planned to lead his delegation, visiting Nkulumane Complex, Sekusile and Cowdray Park on 6 July to interact with traders and provide residents with the MDC-T programme of action.

In a prohibition order signed by the Nkulumane district commanding officer, Chief Superintendent Chrispen Kapita, the police cited lack of manpower for the ban.

Mwonzora convened a hasty presser at the Royal Hotel Media Centre where he condemned the walkabout ban.

“We made an application for a walkabout in five districts and the police barred me and only allowed us to hold a meeting at the (party) headquarters (in Bulawayo),” Mwonzora told journalists at the news conference.

Econet Zimbabwe: It’s Time to Embrace Inclusivity and Diversity

By A Correspondent| Econet Zimbabwe, a leading mobile network service provider, has recently come under fire for its lack of inclusivity and diversity in its events and programs.
