Slay Queen on Khama Billiat Extortion Mission?

By A Correspondent| A Harare slay queen and former model Panashe Munetsi has come under fire for blackmailing and extorting money from high profile celebrities with rumour saying that she has hatched a plan to extort South African based Zimbabwean footballer, Khama Billiat.

The struggling 28-year-old lady is mother to a four-year-old son and has allegedly pinned the fatherhood of the child to more than three Harare man blackmailing them for money at the same time.

Munetsi who is currently residing in South Africa after border jumping with her kid is reportedly claiming that her son was sired by Billiat and this follows failure of her previous attempts on three other men.

A reliable source close to these developments told this publication that the former model is a pro in faking pregnancies and miscarriages as way of earning a meal ticket.

“Panashe’s modus operandi includes faking pregnancies and miscarriages, a strategy she uses to trap her ‘blessers’ so as to extort and blackmail them for money.

“Several men have fallen victims to her tricks including some rich high profile celebrities, “said the source.

Munetsi who is reported to have hit hard times in SA is alleged to be claiming that Billiat is the father of her son.

“We are exposing this to simply serve would be victims of her modus operandi, and we fully know that her plan is to go for Billiat whom she met some years back, we know she had since approached three other men claiming that they were fathers to her son.

“She however been developing cold feet each time those men would ask her to go for DNA as she is not really sure who the father of the kid is,” added the source.

Information obtained by this reporter also revealed that Munetsi approached one Sipho Dube and previously she blackmailed a certain Zambian but Zimbabwean based rich guy.

Efforts to get a comment from both Billiat and Munetsi were futile at time of publishing.

“Account For Missing Journalist”: MISA Tells Mozambican Gvt

Ibraimo Mbaruko

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) has said Mozambique should account for the missing journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco who has been missing since April 2020. Pindula News presents MISA’s statement.

Statement on International Day to Ending Crimes of Impunity against Journalists.

As the world commemorates the International Day to Ending Crimes of Impunity against Journalists, MISA urges the authorities in Mozambique to account for the whereabouts of journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco.

Mbaruco has been missing since April 2020.

This is very worrying because of the chilling similarities of his unknown fate with that of Tanzanian journalist, Azory Gwanda, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances in November 2017.

The Tanzanian government only reported him as dead in 2019.

Gwanda was investigating a spate of high profile killings in the Rufiji area when he went missing.

It is, therefore, inexplicable, given the state machinery at the disposal of the Mozambican government, that a human being, let alone a journalist, can just vanish from the face of the earth, leaving his traumatised family in the dark as to what could have happened.

The seemingly lackadaisical, if not offhand manner, with which the Mozambican government is handling this serious matter, is disconcerting and raises unnecessary speculation and conspiracies on who was involved in Mbaruco’s disappearance.

Throughout the world, it is the State’s responsibility to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, including journalists.

Mbaruco’s last known message was that he was surrounded by soldiers.

His fate is not a matter that should easily be swept beneath the carpet but deserves the serious attention of the Mozambican government for the knowledge and peace of his family and colleagues.

Allowing the perpetrators to go unpunished will spawn and perpetuate a culture of impunity that poses great risk to the work of journalists whose profession is at the core of accountable governance, respect for fundamental human rights and socio-economic development.

Our concerns come at a time when the southern African region is experiencing unprecedented upsurges in media freedom violations in member countries previously envied as paragons of media freedom.

For instance, a South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) crew was allegedly held against their will and threatened by African National Congress (ANC) supporters in Buffelshoek, Bushuckridge in Mpumalanga on October 21, 2021.

The news crew had to be rescued by the police.

According to the SABC news website, the ANC supporters, numbering about 20, threatened to burn the broadcaster’s vehicle and take the crew’s equipment.

At least four community radio stations were vandalised, with equipment worth tens of thousands of United States dollars destroyed during protests in South Africa following the incarceration of that country’s former president Jacob Zuma.

The radio stations that fell victim to the protesters are Alex FM, in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, Mams Radio, In Mamelodi, northeast of Pretoria, West Side FM, in Kagiso, west of Johannesburg and Intokozo FM, in Durban.

In Malawi, a group of 10 Malawi police officers on January 22, 2021, allegedly assaulted an investigative journalist, Henry Mhango, while he was reporting on compliance with COVID-19 regulations.

Nine journalists were on September 30, 2021, arrested by members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police while at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) offices in Harare.

The journalists, Leopold Munhende, Thomas Madhuku, Nyashadzashe Ndoro, Robert Tapfumaneyi, Marshal Bwanya, Gaddaffi Wells, Adrian Matutu, Tongai Mwenje, and Tinashe Muringai, had gone to ZEC offices to cover a demonstration by members of the opposition MDC Alliance.

The journalists were taken to Harare Central Police Station before being released without charge, following the intervention of lawyer Chris Mhike.

MISA urges other SADC governments to take a leaf from the action of the Zambian Information and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary, Amos Malupenga, in his quest to safeguard media freedom and the rights of journalists.

Malupenga marched to the police headquarters in Lusaka on March 12, 2021, demanding that law enforcement agents do more to protect journalists who were facing increased attacks and harassment.

As highlighted by UNESCO, impunity for crimes against journalists damages societies by covering serious human rights abuses, corruption and crime.

We, therefore, urge authorities to investigate crimes committed against journalists on duty and prosecute the perpetrators, as this will send clear messages that society does not tolerate attacks against the media.

As has been pointed out, impunity damages whole societies by covering up serious human rights abuses, corruption, and crime.

The media is at the core of citizens’ right to free expression and accountable governance.

Veganism Gains Traction In Zim

By A Correspondent- Vegetarianism is gaining traction in Zimbabwe at a time the world celebrates World Vegan Day which comes every year on 1 November.

Veganism is a lifestyle that excludes all animal products and attempts to limit the exploitation of animals as much as possible.

According to local nutritionists and environmentalists, veganism is of immense benefit to humans and the natural environment.

Reported Anadolu Agency:

Tynos Muhalaphe, a Harare-based nutritionist told Anadolu Agency that vegans live longer, healthier lives and rarely contract diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

He said:

Vegans are the true practical example of what people should do when they want to lead healthier longer lives. They hardly contract diseases like cancer, diabetes and many others.

For Zimbabwean environmental experts like Doson Hamandishe, vegans are helping to save the environment.

Said Hamandishe:

They plant fruit trees for their fruits which is part of their diet, and this means trees are safe with vegans as they practice afforestation.

They also don’t eat meat or any animal products, meaning wildlife is safe in the hands of vegans, as they grow their own vegetables throughout the year.

As vegetarianism gains fame across Zimbabwe, vegan restaurants are emerging in major cities like Harare, Masvingo and Victoria Falls.

In Harare, there is the Chisipite vegan restaurant owned and run by Mikaela, who is vegan.

Business is booming for Mikaela, with many affluent clients coming to the restaurant and Harare’s high-profile residents eager to change their life around with a plant-based diet.

But for residents from the low-income suburbs of Harare, like 24-year-old Elina Chuma, nothing is fascinating about eating vegetables because she said vegetable-eating is a sign of poverty.

Said Chuma:

In my family, we rarely have meat, not because it’s by choice, but because we can’t afford it. Yet we also would love to eat meat every day if we could afford it.

… I battled high blood pressure as a teenager and after getting advice on diet from a close friend who is a vegan, I said let me give it a try and here I’m now with zero blood pressure.

Global Vegan celebrations are attributed to Louise Wallis, who proposed the idea in 1994 as Chairman of the Vegan Society in the UK and now Vegan Day is celebrated in different parts of the world to advocate veganism and its way of life.

MDC Alliance Vice Chairlady Suspended Over Suspected Zanu PF Dealings

Mdc Alliance Namibia District suspends Vice Chairlady Zanele Mutema with immediate effect pending investigations.

31 October 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia District today suspended its Vice Chairlady in the Women’s Assembly Zanele Mutema with immediate effect following a long time of serious interrogation on the suspected underhand dealings with the few Zanupf sons and daughters in Windhoek.

The security and intelligence of the party made their follow up on the unscrupulous movements of the sellout resulting in her immediate suspension from the political behemoth. I would like to set the record clear that Zanele Mutema is no longer a member of our party district executive until her issue is finalised.

We need to make it very clear that Mdc Alliance Namibia will not tolerate any of its leaders to dine and wine with Zanupf Satanists. The two should exist as water and oil, our people are being arbitrarily arrested, tortured, maimed and their democratic rights are muzzled every now and then. It’s now time for the district to be tough on those who sacrifice the national democratic revolution for three pieces of silver. As social democrats, we allow her to join any party of her choice since it is her democratic right enshrined in the supreme law of the country. Our intelligence gathered concrete information that Zanele Mutema was seen today attending a caucus with the authors of human butchery.

Mdc Alliance Namibia remains resolutely committed to converge for complete change regardless of the desperate efforts by the regime to infiltrate the democratic project. We are aware that the corrupt regime has pressed the panic button after social democrats in Namibia who subscribe to the able leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa managed to exhibit their extraordinary energy and enthusiasm to defeat the corrupt regime. The issue of this candidate of stomach politics shall be heard with in the stipulated time frame in the Mdc Alliance constitution.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia expresses its insatiable appetite to continue mobilising and recruiting membership for the change that delivers. We remain unshaken as a district, we encourage our members to desist from belly politics of plunder and self-enrichment. Only psychiatric patients can migrate from Zimbabwe and come to a foreign land to support a stinking regime that has dismally failed to put the economy on a sounder footing. We absolutely condemn this level moral and political rot in this Zanupf surrogate called Zanele Mutema.

“Votes Are Won By Ideas, Not Intimidation”: Tweeted USA. How Naive And Infuriatingly So Too

By Nomusa Garikai- ”We are very concerned about reports of rising political violence in multiple provinces,” the United States embassy in Harare said in a tweeted statement.

“As Zimbabwe prepares for the 2023 elections, we urge all parties to refrain from acts of violence. Votes are won by ideas, not intimidation.”

In the March 2008 vote, the nearest to free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe history, Morgan Tsvangirai garnered 73% of the votes, according to Mugabe’s Freudian slip. Mnangagwa and his Joint Operation Command Junta stepped in and stopped ZEC announcing the results. The Junta order a recount of 5 million votes that lasted six weeks. Tsvangirai’s 73% was whittled down to 47%, just enough to deny him victory and force a run-off.

The run-off was all about the Junta punishing the people for daring to reject Mugabe and Zanu PF in the March vote. The Junta launch “Operation Mavhotera papi!” (Operation Whom did you vote for!) using war veterans and Zanu PF youth militia to do the intimidation, beating and raping and personal from the Police, Army, CIO and Prison Service to do the heavy duty of abducting and killing.

“What was accomplished by the bullet cannot be undone by the ballot! thundered Robert Mugabe. And Operation Mavhotera papi went into overdrive!

Morgan Tsvangirai was finally forced to withdraw from the election race but only because he feared for his life.

Robert Mugabe went on to win the one-horse race by polling 84% of the votes; once again proving that wanton violence does “win” votes!

SADC and AU leaders refused to accept the 2008 election as a free, fair and credible process and would not recognise Mugabe and his Zanu PF party as the legitimate government. The regional body forced Mugabe to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA), agreeing to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms.

The reforms, fully implemented, would have stripped away Zanu PF’s dictatorial powers and control over all the state institutions like Police, ZEC, etc. and restored the individual freedoms and rights including the right to free, fair and credible elections. The primary task of the GPA was to ensure the blatant cheating and wanton violence of 2008 will never ever be repeated.

A GNU was formed comprising Zanu PF and the two MDC factions with SADC as the guarantor of the GPA. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were entrusted the task of implement the reforms.

MDC leaders failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and, to show their gratitude, they throw reforms onto the fire.

Sadc leaders tried to get the 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented. But they too gave up when it became clear that Tsvangirai and company had never submitted even one reform proposal in the five years!

MDC leaders have all but abandoned all hope of getting any reforms implemented before elections and have since been participating in flawed and illegal elections subject to all the usual Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans of blatant cheating and wanton violence.

However, ever since the GNU Zanu PF has been very care to resort to the wanton violence only when it is necessary and to target it carefully. The only way Zanu PF has been able to rig elections and get away with it was by maintaining facade that Zimbabwe was a healthy multi-party democracy. And so the party has given away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate regardless how flawed the election process got.

The wanton violence has been carefully targeted to ensure the voters, especially the rural voters, never ever forget Operation Mavhotera papi! The party thugs know opposition party leaders must not be harmed; the last thing Zanu PF wants is the opposition boycotting the elections, burning down the multi-party facade and with it Zanu PF legitimacy.

As long as Zanu PF retains its carte blanche powers to rig elections violence will rule the roost, you can forget your “Votes are won by ideas, not intimidation!” ideal!

What is infuriating about Zimbabwe is that whilst most people have been calling for reforms BEFORE elections it has been none other than the MDC and the rest of Zimbabwe’s opportunistic opposition politicians who are quite happy to have the elections with no reforms. It is even more infuriating when the Americans, the EU and other nations who know the MDC leaders are sells outs pretend not to notice.

FULL THREAD: Temba Mliswa’s Rant At Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono

1/I don’t need to be told anything about you. I know you and you know that. We were together in Slough in the UK with Supa and while some of us went for double shifts you never did. Why, because you made money fraudulently through credit card fraud.

2/ Your narrative of being a correspondent for BBC is a fallacy because you were there on attachment. You are not a Christiane @camanpour or some such international journalists as you sell yourself to be as justification for the life you have.

3/There was never anything special about your being a journalist as to have the kind of life you have. The reason is that you made money through credit card fraud and selling the country out to the West.

4/ Resultantly, you have protected yourself against criminal charges by bootlicking the West whilst attacking your own country. Your bitterness with the government is also about how you lost out on the promised ZBC CEO position.

5/ We were together in Operation Restore Legacy as you supported the new dispensation. You had been given assurances that you would take over at ZBC and had even struck some deals with foreign channels. However, that did not happen and you have become bitter.

6/That has been inspiration for you to get on the payroll of foreign powers so as to hit back at the government. That’s why you are quiet on issues to do with whites whilst you are constantly ranting against the country. It’s your insurance against criminal charges from the West.

7/The issue of payments for legislators is about dignity, integrity and credibility of the office. The office cannot be compromised in its role of oversight. It’s not about the personalities that are occupying it.

8/Your lack of appreciation or acceptance of people occupying offices does not entail that you also lack respect for the office itself.

9/My argument about equipping and capacitation of Legislators has nothing to do with self-enrichment. It’s about the importance of the office, and shielding it from being compromised.

10/Some of us have been empowered through government programs& have no dependence on Parliament salary. In fact it’s the opposition MPs who are seriously compromised by the poor remuneration because for one to be effective as a legislator you have to fork out money.

11/We spend more from our pockets than we are paid. We are paid around ZW$70 000 yet at some point in a year I spent over US$200 000, from my pocket, in the constituency because there is insufficient support of the MP’s office.

12/It’s short-sighted and anomalous to attack the office of the legislator just because you don’t like the personnel in it. Your preferred candidates will also find it hard to operate in it as long as it is not respected and capacitated as I’m advocating for.

13/You are simply pulling things out of context to create a false proportion because that’s how you get paid. Some of us we do things out of principle and passion and are not on anyone’s payroll.

14/When you were arrested I defended you as a matter of principle and not because I was being paid. Iwe unongoda zvevarungu manje nyangwe wakatsvuka hauyite murungu. You can’t be a person who shoots everything about his country down.

In Nigeria, @AlikoDangote has made millions but there is no talk of capturing the state which, at times, is an expression of inferiority complex, seeing a successful black person. Be patriotic.

“Charges Against Mako Were Fabricated By Overzealous Cops Out To Please Zanu PF”

The trial of five MDC Alliance youths accused of breaching Covid-19 regulations by holding a demonstration got underway before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Monday.

Makomborero Haruzivishe, 28, Allan Moyo, 23, Denford Ngadziore, 48, Stanley Manasi Manyenga, 38, and Cecillia Revai Chimbiri, 33, all entered not guilty pleas.

The prosecution alleges that the five gathered at their party headquarters, Morgan Tsvangirai House, for a meeting before the police dispersed them in February this year.

Their legal team of Obey Shava and Jeremiah Bamu said the charges against them were fabricated “by overzealous police officers whose law enforcement is solely aimed at pleasing the ruling Zanu PF regime.”

“They deny each and every material allegation levelled against them and put the State to the strict proof thereof. Accused persons will specifically deny having participated in an illegal gathering or illegal demonstration. They will also deny having held any placards as alleged or at all,” Bhamu told the court.

“They will further tell the court that the lack of particularity in the allegations inhibit them from saying anything further than they already have. It suffices to say that accused persons are law abiding citizens who at all times conduct themselves within the confines of the law and actively promote the realisation of their and other people’s rights.”

The trial began with the prosecution calling its first witness, Munyaradzi Silomonye from Cyber Laboratory who allegedly downloaded a video recording of the five persons while allegedly committing the offence.Silomonye said he downloaded the video that helped to identify the five.

The trial continues on November 5.The indictment by the National Prosecuting Authority says that the five activists joined scores of other MDC Alliance youths at Morgan Tsvangirai House at around 5.30PM on February 19.

The prosecution says there was to be a meeting of the MDC Alliance youth wing, Harare councillors, members of parliament and the provincial leadership.Prosecutors say the activists began chanting slogans and running along Nelson Mandela Avenue in the direction of Copacabana.

It is alleged that they later gathered at corner Angwa Street and Nelson Mandela Avenue whilst holding placards inscribed, ‘Respect Our Constitution,’ ‘ED Enda’ and ‘ED Must Go’. They also allegedly sang “hatichada kunyengerera” and “hatipihwe order nemasaskamu.’

Police allegedly dispersed the gathering, only for the group to gather again at Copacabana where they were scattered by teargas.

Prosecutors say some of the demonstrators, as they retreated, threw stones and other objects at the police action.

Police say video footage and photos captured during the incident and also circulated on social media showed the five MDC Alliance activists were part of the mob.

PICTURE- The Woman Who Took Everything From Tendai Ndoro

Thando Maseko

Former Warriors striker Tendai Ndoro has lost ‘everything’ after he was kicked out of his home and taken to the cleaners by his South African wife, Thando Maseko. The former Chicken Inn and Orlando Pirates forward is reported to have registered all his properties in his wife’s name.

Tendai Ndoro and wife

Following a massive fallout between the two, Maseko is said to have thrown Ndoro out of the couple’s home in the upscale Kyalami Estates in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is also reported to have taken full possession of all of the couple’s vehicles, as they were registered in her name.

The issue of Tendai Ndoro being taken to the cleaners by his South African wife was revealed to local weekly publication B-Metro by one of Ndoro’s confidantes. The source who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity said,

“It appears Ndoro’s property in South Africa is not registered in his name, so when things were not going well with his wife, he was kicked out of their Kyalami Estate home. The biggest mistake he made was not registering the house and cars in his name, and that will be his downfall.

“Ndoro’s family in Bulawayo are distraught about the situation because it can’t be easy to watch their son lose everything he worked hard for in South Africa and Saudi Arabia to his estranged wife.”

Ndoro has been making headlines of late after images leaked online in which the footballer appeared to have lost a lot of weight. The photos suggested that Ndoro may be struggling with his health. According to the online publication Soccer24, the footballer had been recuperating in the mining town of Shamva, in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland Central province.

Following the circulation of the images and reports of Ndoro’s ill-health, some opined that the former Orlando Pirates striker is struggling.

This prompted South African businessman and former Mpumalanga Black Aces owner George Morfou to offer to help the footballer. George and his brother Mario were responsible for introducing the 36-year-old striker to the SA Premier Soccer League (PSL) when they signed him from Zimbabwean football club Chicken Inn in 2013.

However, last week, Ndoro denied reports that he was struggling financially. He also insisted that he was only in Zimbabwe briefly to visit his mother and that he would soon be returning to his family in South Africa.

“I don’t want to speak to the media. I’m in Bulawayo. I came back from South Africa to visit my mother. I’m actually in Bulawayo, and I will be going back to South Africa soon. My family is in South Africa, and why should I stay long in Zimbabwe,” claimed Ndoro.

On the other hand, the source insisted that Ndoro is struggling and had been given a cash bailout by his close football associates. The good Samaritans who came to Ndoro’s rescue include Aston Villa midfielder Marvellous Nakamba and Supersport midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi.

“Just last week, when the Warriors were in camp, several players that include Marvelous Nakamba and Kudakwashe Mahachi pampered Ndoro with cash. The players openly expressed their concern about Ndoro’s plight hence the gesture of giving him cash.”

Shock As Rapist Breaks Into Waiting Mother’s Shelter, Rapes Pregnant Teen

By A Correspondent- Communities have called for improved security at waiting mothers’ shelters following reports of the rap_ing of a teenager at Manama Mission Hospital and other women that were robbed at Matobo District Hospital waiting mothers’ shelter in Matabeleland South Province.

A nine months preg_nant teenager was rap_ed by an unknown suspect at Manama Mission Hospital waiting mothers’ shelter in June.

The culprit was armed with a knife and gained access into the shelter through an unlocked door at night. The expectant mothers fled the scene, but the suspect caught up with the teenager, whom he dragged to a bushy area where he assaulted and rap_ed her several times overnight.

The teenager sustained a broken arm during the attack.

At Matobo District Hospital, a suspect broke into the waiting mothers’ shelter and tried to rap_e one woman before robbing several women of their belongings.

There have also been reports of rap_e and robberies at waiting mothers’ shelters and maternity wards in the past.

A Chronicle news crew visited Manama Mission Hospital and spoke to some expectant mothers, who expressed concern at the absence of security at the shelter.

Ms Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu from Magaya Village said the rap_e incident has left her unsettled at the shelter.

“While I’m here at the waiting mothers’ shelter, I’m afraid that the culprit might strike again and attack us. I heard that someone invaded the shelter, chased the women who were there and went on to rap_e one of them. Maybe if the culprit had been arrested it could have been better, but the incident has shown that we are at risk as expectant mothers,” she said.

Ms Lydia Ncube said although there were now security guards at the shelter, they were not efficient.

“There are some security people who guard the shelter, but I don’t have faith in them because sometimes they arrive way after 10PM, which means that before that we will be exposed. They won’t be around during some nights as well. We once looked for the security guard when one of the ladies went into labour, but we couldn’t locate any,” Ms Ncube said.

Ms Tibelo Ngulube of Magaya Village said the rap_e incident was concerning to her and felt the safety of all female patients at the hospital was at stake, as the culprit could strike at any time due to lax security.

Ms Ngulube said as long as the culprit was still on the loose, the security of all women at the shelter and in the community remains highly compromised.

Makwati Village head Ms Adrina Moyo said her young sister is one of the women that managed to evade the rap_e attack.

“My young sister was at the waiting mothers’ shelter when the incident occurred. She said the rap_ist pushed open the door while they were sleeping and brandished a knife and threatened to stab them and they all fled from the room. He pursued them and from there my sister doesn’t know what happened. When they went back to the shelter, they noticed that one person was missing. Something needs to be done to ensure the safety of women because as it is, some people are afraid to sleep at the shelter,” she said.

Andrew Moyo, a neighbourhood watch committee member, said the suspected rap_ist is from a neighbouring ward and they had tried to track him down in vain.

Matabeleland South Provincial Medical Director, Dr Rudo Chikodzore, recently told a meeting that each district had been tasked to identify security gaps in each health facilities and propose how best they can be addressed.

“Some facilities need a perimeter fence to secure the waiting mothers’ shelter, some need locks and other security features. We have asked the District Medical Officers to meet with their teams and identify security gaps and suggest how they can be addressed,” she said.

During a recent visit to Manama Mission Hospital, Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr John Mangwiro said there was a need for health facilities to improve their security as they were putting the lives of patients at risk.-statemedia

Police Round 1 Million Over Covid-19 Laws Violations

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced that it has arrested 1, 2 million people for violating Covid-19 regulations since the start of the lockdown in March last year.

In their twitter page, police said 2 934 people were arrested on October 31 for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

“The ZRP reminds members of the public that Covid-19 safety regulations are still in force. As at 31 October a total of 1 225 225 people were arrested for various offences related to Covid-19 since 30 March 2020. On 31 October, 2934 people were arrested for breaching Covid-19 regulations,” said the police.

Man Who Advertised Selling Self Over Poverty Nabbed

Aliyu Idris

By A Correspondent- Islamic religious police in northern Nigeria arrested a man who put himself up for sale to escape biting poverty, a local official said on Wednesday.

Aliyu Idris, 26, was arrested on Tuesday by the morality police in Kano after pictures emerged on social media showing him holding a placard indicating he was up for auction at 20 million naira (US$49 000).

“We arrested him for putting himself up for sale, which is illegal under Islamic law,” said Lawal Ibrahim Fagge, a spokesman for the religious police called Hisbah.

“He is in our custody,” said Fagge, blaming the young man’s “abhorrent action” on poverty and ignorance.

Last week Idris, a tailor from neighbouring Kaduna, went around the city last week with the placard inscribed with the sale offer. Residents posted pictures of him online, turning him into a sensation.

The young man told reporters he was “selling” himself out of “excruciating poverty” and that he intended to give half the money to his parents and two million naira to anyone who could facilitate the auction. He had also promised to be a “loyal servant” to his buyer.

180 000 Zimbabweans Face Deportation SA Halts Visa Renewals

By A Correspondent-The South African Cabinet will soon announce a decision on the renewal of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) for nearly 180 000 Zimbabweans based in the neighbouring country.
Zimbabweans have benefitted from special permits since 2010 when the Dispensation of Zimbabweans Project (DZP) was introduced.
DZP was aimed at regularising Zimbabweans residing in the neighbouring country to reduce pressure on the asylum management system.
The permits expired in 2014 before South Africa introduced the Zimbabwe Special Permit (ZSP) which lapsed at the end of 2017.

It was followed by the ZEP, which will expire on December 31.
Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa David Hamadziripi said Government has been engaged in high-level meetings with South Africa over the permit issue.
“The matter of the ZEP is part of the agenda of the discussions held between Zimbabwe and South Africa in the context of the Bi-National Commission (BNC). Concerning the extension of the permits, the Embassy has had discussions with the relevant authorities in South Africa since the first quarter of the year,” said Ambassador Hamadziripi.
“In May 2021, there was further discussion of the issue when the two countries’ Ministers of Foreign Affairs met in Cape Town. In all these interactions, the government of South Africa informed us that the decision on the renewal of the permits would be taken by their Cabinet and that processes towards that end were in motion.”
Zimbabwe Community in South Africa chairperson Mr Ngqabutho Mabhena said most Zimbabweans were anxious as the year is coming to an end.

“We are waiting for the South African government to make an announcement. We were informed that a decision will be made in November so we are waiting. We do not know what is going to happen, but, of course, people are worried about what is likely to be announced by the Minister of Home Affairs when he decides to make an announcement,” said Mr Mabhena.
He said financial institutions and some employers have started demanding that permit holders renew their permits.
“We have been engaging with both the Zimbabwean and South African governments and made submissions that holders of the ZEP should be granted permanent residence status because they have been resident here for more than 10 years and continue to contribute to the South African economy,” said Mr Mabhena.
“The second option is that if they are not granted permanent residence, they should be granted a long-term visa which is about 10 years or a normal renewal be an option.

Rare Flu Out-Break In Bulawayo

By A Correspondent- Health officials in Bulawayo have confirmed a flu outbreak in the city that has resulted in hundreds of children seeking medication, a development which experts say is a result of fluctuating weather conditions.

Bulawayo director of Health Services Dr Edwin Sibanda told Chronicle in an interview that the flu is a common viral infection that affects the nose, throat and airways.

The flu usually resolves within seven to 10 days but has COVID-19 like symptoms which put a lot of parents and guardians in panic mode.

Some children also vomit and lose appetite and parents are saying the symptoms cannot be cleared by over-the-counter medication.

Sibanda confirmed that the flu has affected a large number of children in Zimbabwe’s second-largest city but could not give the exact number of those who have been affected. He said:

There is an outbreak of the upper respiratory tract infection and it is affecting many children in Bulawayo but I do not have the exact numbers now. There were suspicious that the flu was in fact COVID-19.

Residents should take their children to health centres though under normal circumstances flu goes away without treatment. This flu due to weather changes has been spreading easily.

With the changes in weather, it is expected that these symptoms will increase. The prevention measures are the same as for COVID-19, it’s a matter of strengthening what we are doing for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory said influenza testing had been halted in Zimbabwe due to shortages of test kits. Chronicle

Police Declare War On Motorists

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an operation targeting what they are calling errant and reckless motorists breaking road rules during peak hours.

ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said some of the these people will be driving parastatal and Government vehicles. He said:

There is an ongoing operation that has nabbed a number of motorists. They are being sent to court without an option of paying admission of guilt fines at police stations.
… We are disturbed by that behaviour and it’s now common in the Southerton area, Chiremba Road, Samora Machel Avenue, Arcturus Road and Seke Road in Harare.
…. We have arrested a number of motorists who drive against traffic in Government vehicles.
Some will be driving vehicles belonging to parastatals and we have since called some parastatals imploring them to reign in on their drivers.
That sets a bad example and we cannot have a Government vehicle being used to break the law.

Mnangagwa In Massive Whisky Party In Scotland

By A Correspondent -Zanu PF supporters based in Scotland Sunday welcomed President Emmerson Mnangagwa with expensive whiskeys.

Videos posted online showed Zanu PF supporters buying expensive whiskeys from a supermarket, eliciting a tweet from Zimbabwe’s government spokesman Nick Mangwana, who wrote: “Tonight there is a massive welcome party held in honour of HE President Mnangagwa.

“Glasgow is the place to be as Zimbabweans from all corners of the UK attend this shindig and welcome their president. The party will sill over to the streets tomorrow.”

One of the men seen pushing a trolley laden with alcohol from a COSCO supermarket has been identified as Kudzai Makuku, a construction manager with Network Rail, a company that manages most of Britain’s rail network.

“We are ready, viva Zanu PF! Welcoming our president ED Mnangagwa in Scotland UK!” Makuku says on the video clip while pushing a trolley full of whiskies, including at least six Glenfiddich 12 bottles worth ‎£40 each. They also carried other whiskies, cases of beers and cognacs.

Senior MDC T Officials Snub Mwonzora

MDC T vice presidents and national leaders snub Mwonzora in his poorly attended National consultative meetings

As Boaz aka Polite Musarurwa who is Mwonzora’s propagandist writes a detailed report on the factional fights in MDC T

1 November 2021

Wezhira Munya

Today, Boaz popularly known as Polite Musarurwa gives juice details on the factional battles in MDC T led by Mwonzora. For more details read: Boas article attached at the end of this article.

Most MDC T members of Parliament and councillors are making efforts to join MDC Alliance led by President Chamisa as #Ngaapinde hake mukomana gathers momentum#

Boaz has been assigned by Mwonzora to attack MDC T vice Presidents Khupe and Mudzuri.

Mudzuri and Khupe are fighting Mwonzora because he has failed to call for ordinary congress to elect new MDC T president and other leaders as per party constitution.

According to Boaz’s message that was posted on MDC T WhatsApp groups such as MDC 2014 structure: Khupe , Mudzuri , national members, members of Parliament and councillors are snubbing Mwonzora’s provincial tours.

Boas said, current poor attendence at MDC T provincial meetings being addressed by Mwonzora is caused by MDC T national leadership sabotage.

Mwonzora has been addressing few people and this has made him very angry.

Boas’ article titled Cash Talk have the following juice information :

Khupe and Mudzuri are ungrateful after being appointed by Mwonzora. Mwonzora won through rigging MDC T presidency at extraordinary congress. Khupe was beaten by Mwonzora thugs. Boas argued that, MDC T vice presidents must accompany Mwonzora wherever he goes as a way to repay Mwonzora after appointing them. In all provincial meetings addressed by Mwonzora, Khupe and Mudzuri never attended.

Boas said, “Vice President Khupe and Mudzuri think they came from heaven and they are ALWAYS FIGHTING THE PRESIDENT- Mwonzora

In addition, Boas further commented that , Khupe is negotiating with MDC Alliance to revive her political career. Boas assertions show deep rooted suspicions and scheming among MDC T top leaders . Boas urged Khupe to follow Mwonzora wherever he goes, like what she used to do during late President Tsvangirai.

Contacted for comment , MDC T founder member Mr Mashumba said,
“Mwonzora is unpopular and he became the president after rigged MDC T congress. How does he expect Dr Khupe to work with her after violently beating her.”

Also , another MDC T national member who refused to be named said, “Mudzuri does not like Mwonzora . Mwonzora cannot used appointment issue to force Mudzuri to attend useless provincial meetings.”

In addition, Boas holds that, Khupe , Mudzuri and Members of Parliament are enjoying cars and fuel coupons they get because of Mwonzora.

One MDC T member of Parliament said, “Mwonzora is mad. We won elections under MDC Alliance led by President Chamisa. President Chamisa’s popularity made us members of Parliament. Even Mwonzora benefitted from MDC Alliance after he was appointed senator by President Chamisa. It’s only that we joined MDC T led by Mwonzora because of fear of recalls. Surely you shall see all members of Parliament going to MDC Alliance led by President Chamisa.”

Most MDC T councilors and members of Parliament know that Mwonzora is unpopular as a result they snub his meetings.

Boas further explained that Mwonzora is using Honda fit or old red Mercedes Benz as he travels to provincial meetings. Mwonzora was using Vincent Tsvangirai’s car but Vincent is nolonger giving Mwonzora his car. Vincent’s car is experiencing many breakdowns due to poor service.

Boas also attacks National women assembly chairperson, national youth chairperson and national structures for snubbing Mwonzora provincial consultative meetings.

Most MDC T members are against consultative meetings where Mwonzora is seeking permission to postpone 2023 elections to form Government of National Unity with Zanu PF.

In Manicaland- Mutare yesterday , very people attended Mwonzora meeting in Beit hall. This show that Mwonzora who comes from Manicaland does not have support in his home area.

Mwonzora’s MDC T is regarded as Zanu PF proxy. MDC T meetings are cleared by police and Zanu PF thugs do not disrupt MDC T meetings.

Contrary, MDC Alliance meetings are disrupted by police and Zanu PF. In Masvingo, Manicaland and Mashonaland East MDC Alliance President Chamisa and his team were attacked, injured and their cars where damaged by bullets.

Mwonzora thugs violently disrupted MDC T vice president Khupe aid Mr Kudzanai Mashumba’s press conference where he wanted to inform the world how Mwonzora stole part funds, conflicts in MDC T presidium and other issues.

Below is BOAS article attacking MDC T vice presidents.

CASH TALK

MDC-T now needs faithful leaders who when they get positions either through appointments from the President or your name is submitted to ZEC to replace wayward Senators, Mps , Councillors.

Many of those who are now Senators Mps or Councillors are behaving the same way as those that were recalled . As soon as they take their positions their behavior changes to wickedness . If you are trusted with a position by the President it’s an error to behave as if it your own effort that made you become what you are now. The President is the door that made you become what you are … without him you are nothing.

Where is the National Youths Assembly Chairperson ?
Where is the National Women Assembly Chairperson?
Why are the National Structures leaving the President to move alone?
Where are the Vice Presidents…you forget you were appointed as VPs because the President trusted you as running mates.

Vice President Thokozani Khupe and Mudzuri think they came from heaven and they are ALWAYS FIGHTING THE PRESIDENT

As for Vice President Thokozani Khupe we know you will continue behaving like this until 2023. We now have a few people which you are using as bargain chips trading with Nelson Chamisa for him to rescue your evil political career

Go back to your first love , you used to follow the president where ever he is addressing rallies or meetings…..that time maybe you didn’t have the vehicles but you SACRIFICED and you were always with him .
As soon as you were appointed and you received vehicles to use ….you now snubbing the President leaving him go Province by Province alone

The President stays in HARARE province ..there are Mps, Senators , Councillors who are too busy to be involved in anything the President is doing…..to the extent that he he will no choice but hire vehicles or move in a Honda fit or the old red Mercedes Benz …or wait for someone to come from South Africa Province to drive the President.

During the days of President Morgan Tsvangirai you were all over around him some giving all your fuel coupons and your vehicles some donating cattle to the President .. The same grace that was upon PRESIDENT Morgan Tsvangirai is the same grace upon PRESIDENT Douglas Mwonzora…. But the way all councilors, Mps Senators Vps , Standing Committee members behave leaves a lot to be desired.

The President can’t address a meeting in your Province but you prefer not to attend. I was so touched with what Honourable Denga SACRIFICED to be there in his Province because the President was going to his Province not to attend a political meeting but a MEMORIAL SERVICE organised by church. Hon Denga was at his farm either Chinhoyi or Chivhu but he left his farm to be with the PRESIDENT.

Where are you hiding , if you are an Mp , Senator or Councillor…. Don’t expect the President to beg you . People on the ground in structures are watching.

You all know the President is supposed to move Province by Province consulting the electorate that gave MDC-T leaders the mandate to lead and seek NATIONAL DIALOGUE but you don’t bother knowing how he gets there or who is there and what is happening is non of your business. That’s unGodly to undermine your father

The problem is how you are behaving towards the President is how people will behave towards you even worse than that.

You are in opposition to monitor and give alternative ideas and solutions to what the government of the day is doing….. This is what people in structures are doing … they have alternative and better ways of how an Mp , Senator or Councillor must behave

The same goes to everyone in the standing committee , National Executive and National COUNCIL…..why are you only appearing at meetings only and not moving with the PRESIDENT…..that’s why your meetings take too many hours but few resolutions which you don’t implement because you prefer to isolate yourselves from what the President is doing.

To those who prefer to support the President openly and FAITHFULLY may God Increase your territory

Police Block SA DJs’ Harare Show

By A Correspondent- Police at the weekend blocked a group of South African DJs, Major League, from performing in Harare.

Major League was also dumped at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport by their plane after forcing it to break Zimbabwe’s aviation and COVID-19 protocols.

The group’s had a show in Bulawayo on Sunday after its gig in Harare on Saturday was stopped by the police.

Business Times reported eyewitnesses and aviation sources at the Joshua Nkomo Airport as saying the Major League entourage had insisted on flying back to Harare at 10 PM after a gig in Bulawayo.

However, the pilot advised the crew of Zimbabwe’s strict aviation and COVID-19 lockdown regulations and prevailing weather conditions as reasons not to proceed with the flight.

Socialite Tazvi Mhaka who is part of the Major League entourage reportedly tried to convince the charter pilot to fly against the stipulated aviation regulations but to no avail. Said a source:

It was a scene at the airport in Bulawayo and the Major League entourage which also included Mike Chimombe who is the President of Affirmative Action Group was looking at flying back to Harare during the night against the country’s COVID-19 regulations as well as the prevailing unpredictable weather.

So the pilot refused to fly at that time which forced the entourage to try and entice the pilot with some money which was rejected in full view of airport staff and some passengers.

The pilot and the aviation firm, who could not be named for professional reasons, reportedly terminated the flight.

The pilot flew back to Robert Mugabe International Airport leaving the entourage stranded at the Joshua Nkomo Airport.

When contacted for comment by Business Times, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo airports manager Passmore Dhewa said he was not at the airport since it was a Sunday. He said:

Who is the pilot and I was not at the airport it’s a Sunday but I heard that the pilot flew back to Harare.

Chimombe did not respond to messages sent to him through text and WhatsApp, Business Times reported.

Douhan A Hired Sanitizer Of Dictators’ Soiled Reputation

PRESS STATEMENT.

28 October 2021

“The hard Talk with “ZCEO President” Paddington Japa Japa.!!!!”

THE SO CALLED UN SPECIAL RAPPORTTEUR, PROFESSOR ELENA DOUHAN, A HIRED SANITISER OF SOILED IMAGES AND REPUTATIONS OF FAILING GLOBAL DICTATOR REGIMES, ZCEO PRESIDENT JAPA JAPA SAYS!!!!

She came, met and, saw only Civic Society Organisations and insignificant small Political Parties that are Pro Mnangagwa,s Zanu Pf November 2017 Coup Government. She never bothered to Invite the Main Opposition Political Party in Zimbabwe, Chamisa,s MDCA,why,??? only her and her host Zimbabwean Government knows the reason why.Her name is Nutty Professor Elena Douhan a Volunteer on Sanctions busting reports, masquarading as a United Nations Official, yet she is not employed by the UN.Douhan works as a lone volunteer who is not even employed by the United Nations. She makes a living from being paid by her host Tyranic Regimes, that hire her to Sanitize their soiled reputations and images. She is usually hired by Leaders of Countries lead by Dictators and Tyrants, who are usually under International Trade or Targeted Sanctions. Her work is to make some biased stage managed Investigations into the effects of Sanctions imposed on targeted individuals,Leaders of oppressive regimes or selected Companies. The work of this hired Gold Digger who is a Mercenary who makes a living out of producing fake anti Sanctions reports, as a rescue package for sinking evil regimes, has been heavily exposed by her biased approach to her work plan.

if Elena Douhan was a true represantative of the real United Nations that we all know, she should have first met the oppressed and persecuted MDCA President Advocate Nelson Chamisa and his Party members who nearly lost their lives four weeks ago in Masvingo- Charumbira rural area, Manicaland and Mash west in similar circumstances.Zanu Pf regime knew very well that Douhan was coming to assess the impact of Sanctions and its effect on the lives of millions of Zimbabweans.Whilst Douhan was landing at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe international Airport,at the same time the Zanu Pf Regime was heavily engaged in continuing with their barbaric,Savage, bandit and thuggish attacks on Chamisa and his MDCA entourage team around rural Zimbabwe, how come.??? Zanu Pf knew that an Investigator to the issue of Human rights was already in Zimbabwe why then unashamedly displaying those heinous Acts of banditry savage and barbaric attacks on the main Opposition Political Party in Zimbabwe. In her biased report which she presented yesterday after the main news on ZBCTV at 8.59 pm Douhan never mentioned anything about the continued unprovoked attacks on MDCA entourage teams by state funded organised thugs from Zanu Pf, including the latest one in Mash West.

if Douhan was a true and genuine UN official employed by UN and not a self appointed volunteer, she could have mentioned and condemned the state sponsored, violent incidencies caused by Zanu Pf thugs on MDCA Party and its leader Nelson Chamisa.Douhan chose to turn a blind eye on the evil things that Mnangagwa,s regime is doing on MDCA and its leadership. There can never be a real UN Official who is under the Global Peace Making Organisation who can come into our country were violence is taking place to the extend of attempted murder of an Official Opposition President and still sees no evil, hear no evil. Why have you decided not to take note of that, oooh nutty professor never there is something wrong here Madam.Douhan is a hired Agent of Dictator and tyranical Governments seeking sanitisation of their soiled reputations and images. This woman has a track record of defending Dictators in the world, she did it in Saudi Arabia,Venezuela,Syria,Qatar,Iran and now in Zimbabwe. The real United Nation must not even pay any attention to her unbalanced report whose best place is the dust bin, nobody must lend an ear to her shallow nonsensical work.

She is a danger to the oppressed people around the whole world, as her biased reports help cover up the human rights abuse issues perpetrated by Dictators and Tyrants.

By choosing not to meet Chamisa,s MDCA Douhan heavily exposed herself that she was on a specific mission, to sanitize and spruce up the soiled image of Zanu Pf leadership.Shame on your Mafioso Elena Douhan you thought, Zimbabweans can easily be taken for a ride and are so foolish to your level.Your wicked and evil intensions have been heavily exposed by the way you conduct your business, no one shall ever again take your findings seriously never ever.No oppressed People around the whole world shall ever accept your biased reports, you are a masquerade,Gold Digger who makes a living out of working for oppressive Dictators and Regimes.Your work is to,spruce up the images and soiled reputations of oppressors over the oppressed. If you do not change your way of doing business next time you shall be met with violent demonstrations in other Countries were ever you shall set foot.

A genuine UN Official engages with all Political Parties in countries under Political conflicts,Civic Society Organisations,Individuals,Government officials, all Church denominations,Civic Society Organisations etc,etc and not a few selected ones.

I personally do not approve of the way Douhan conducts her work, why doing such very important work alone and not as a Group, that work needs at least a Group of five to ten professional people, who are not biased who cannot be manipulated by a system. The Work needs balance and checks and interrogation of the outcomes and recommendations before coming to a final conclusion. Not the stage managed fake and biased one sided junk from that Mercenary called Elena Douhan the report must find its way into the dust bin.Never come back to Zimbabwe again Nutty Professor Elena Douhan because you are biased and not serious.

Boxer Succumbs To Injuries Sustained During Bout

A professional non-title bout for an-up-and-coming pugilist, Taurai Zimunya, ended fatally after the young boxer later succumbed to head injuries sustained in a bantamweight contest.

News of his passing on hit the local boxing community on the social media portal, Boxing Business Contacts, early this morning. The exact cause of his demise could not immediately be ascertained.

But following the ring brawl which had to be called off, he was ferried to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on oxygen support.

Reports say scans were done at Westend Clinic and Wilkins Hospital to help the doctors ascertain the source of his injuries, but efforts to save his life were in vain as he later lost his life in the early hours of this morning.

Zimunya was fighting Tinashe Majoni of the Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy in one of 10 other matches making up the “Rise of Champions” bill hosted by Otto Boxing Club at Body Active Gym in Borrowdale, Harare, yesterday.

This was the second time Zimunya was fighting the same opponent, the first having been two years ago when they took part in a fundraising event at HICC hosted by former Energy Minister Fortune Chasi. Majoni walked away the winner.

For one whose short boxing career was one of nomadism, Zimunya – whose pro debut was two years ago when he fought Bongani Makovora – had a stint with the Zimbabwe National Army boxing club.

His next port of call was the Legends Club of Mbare under the tutelege of Nyaude and in preparation of yesterday’s duel, he was working with coach Tarisai Ponde.

Zimbabwe Boxing and Wrestling Control Board general secretary Lawrence Zimbudzana described the fatality as “unfortunate and isolated.”

He said his office would soon issue a complete statement when a full medical report has been provided by the medical practitioners who attended to the departed boxer.

“We are with his family and club in our prayers. What’s more painful is that the potential of such a young talent has been nipped in he bud,” he lamented.

He said despite all protocols associated with the healthy hosting of a tournament having been fulfilled boxing had still been left a loser.

Requirements by the Boxing and Wrestling Control Act demand that there be a ringside doctor and an ambulance on standby at every professional boxing event.

This is the first time in Zimbabwe that a boxer has had to part with their life in the execution of duty inside a boxing ring.

The “Rise of Champions” boxing extravaganza was the first time since July that boxing was making a return following relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions and, the tragedy aside, it has been hailed as a total success.

Enock Musambudzi beat Lazarus Sithole by TKO in the super-middleweight division contest while Freeman Mabvongwe also made short work of another Sithole (Clever) also via the same verdict.

Hassan “Starboy” Milanzi was the better fighter in a duel against Shumba Boxing Club’s Given Daure and Evans Husavihwevhu of CMBA also posted a win.

Manyuchi Boxing Academy therefore had the biggest victories haul, with all its boxers posting wins in their respective outings.

MDC Alliance Poised For Victory In 2023

The MDC Alliance is confident of a resounding victory in the 2023 elections as the opposition party continues to carry out what it calls “an intensive voter registration campaign” across the country.

Party spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere told NewsDay that the MDC Alliance is targetting six million votes in the upcoming elections. She said:

The opposition party is going to win the 2023 elections, and it is going to do so resoundingly.

We are currently carrying out an intensive voter registration campaign in villages, towns and cities to ensure we galvanise six million citizens to vote for change.

We are mobilising the citizens to turn out to vote in their millions and defend that vote vigilantly.

We are building a polling agent defence system to ensure the vote is protected from rigging through a polling station-based mobilisation and monitoring programme.

We will run the biggest electoral campaign that’s never been seen in the region and ultimately win Zimbabwe for change.

This is why our new candidate selection procedures will give communities the power to decide which leaders will represent them.

Mahere was responding to President Emmerson Mnangagwa who last week declared a ZANU PF victory two years ahead of the general elections.

Mnangagwa told ZANU PF supporters at the just-ended annual conference in Bindura that he had already sealed the 2023 victory.

MDC Alliance Suspends “Zanu PF Implant”

Election Rights Lobby Grouping Condenms Malaba’s Zanu PF Appearance

By A Correspondent- Chief Justice Malaba last week made an appearance at Zanu PF’s annual conference in Bindura.

Below is the statement by Zimbabwe Election Advocacy Trust:

“We are shocked to note that Chief Justice Luke Malaba is part of the delegation at a ZANU PF conference currently underway in Bindura. His involvement in partisan political activities jeopardizes electoral processes and render the whole Judiciary system biased thereby denting it’s Integrity.

Furthermore, his conduct has bastardized the maxim and principle of separation of powers.

Section 165 sub section 4d of the Constitution prohibits members of the judiciary from attending political meetings.

This is a gross violation of the Constitution by a person who is entrusted as a doyen and custodian of the law. We, therefore, call for his immediate resignation and a quick return to order and sanity in the Judiciary system. ZEAT…. fostering democratic elections!

Top Zim Footballer Turns Destitute in SA

By A Correspondent- Former Chicken Inn striker Tendai Ndoro was reportedly kicked out of his affluent home in Kyalami Estates in Johannesburg, South Africa, by his South African wife.

Kyalami Estates is a secure residential estate with 24-hour controlled access, recreational parks, a dam, tennis, basketball, netball and squash courts, outdoor gyms, a soccer field among other amenities.

B-Metro reported sources as saying Ndoro had a fallout with his South African wife, Thando Maseko, who kicked him out of their home and took possession of their cars. Said a source:

It appears Ndoro’s property in South Africa is not registered in his name so when things were not going well with his wife, he was kicked out of their Kyalami Estate home.

The biggest mistake he made was not registering the house and cars in his name and that will be his downfall.

Ndoro’s family in Bulawayo are distraught about the situation because it can’t be easy to watch their son lose everything he worked hard for in South Africa and Saudi Arabia to his estranged wife.

At one point Ndoro clashed with his wife which resulted in his arrest and having to spend several days in jail over domestic violence allegations.

The former Orlando Pirates striker allegedly choked Maseko and threw a TV at her during a fight that apparently stemmed from a fake marriage certificate.

The fake certificate reportedly states that Ndoro and Maseko were married on 20 September 2017, when in fact, their wedding was in December 2017.

Last week Ndoro denied reports that he was broke. This was after pictures of the frail-looking player who was in Shamva surfaced on social media. He said:

I don’t want to speak to the media. I’m in Bulawayo. I came back from South Africa to visit my mother.

I’m actually in Bulawayo and I will be going back to South Africa soon. My family is in South Africa and why should I stay long in Zimbabwe.

Reports suggest that Ndoro is broke and that he was recently given a cash injection by his close football associates Marvelous Nakamba and Kudakwshe Mahachi, among others.

Zim Man Dies In SA Police Shoot-Out

By A Correspondent- South African police have shot dead a 34-year-old Zimbabwean man in the Erasmia area in South Africa.

The deceased, whose identity has not yet been revealed, is reported to have been part of a gang of suspects, aged between 26 and 51 years, who were caught red-handed by the police cutting steel pipes at a plot in Mooiplas.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson (IPID), Grace Langa said the matter was now under investigation. She said:
We are investigating a case of death as a result of police action and our team have already attended the crime scene.
It is alleged that two on-duty police officers reacted to a complaint about some suspects who were cutting steel pipes at the plot in Mooiplas.
Upon arrival, they found the complainant who then pointed out the suspects.

She said the four suspects were apprehended but more suspects, driving an Isuzu pick-up truck, arrived at the scene and were also identified as being part of the crew by the complainant.
Langa said the two policemen stopped the car and ordered all the passengers to disembark and lie on the ground. She added:
They all went down except one suspect who is a 34-year-old Zimbabwean national. He walked towards the back of their bakkie (pick-up truck) and pulled a firearm.
He was spotted by one of the policemen who immediately pulled out his service pistol and shot him (the suspect Zimbabwean national) on the head.

She said while the two police officers were busy checking on the man who had been shot, his accomplices got into the vehicle and fled from the scene.
Paramedics, she added, were contacted and certified the man dead on the scene.

Expensive Whisky Booze For Mnangagwa In Glasgow

By A Correspondent -Zanu PF supporters based in Scotland yesterday welcomed President Emmerson Mnangagwa with expensive whiskeys.

MDC Alliance Suspends Vice Chairlady

“Re-engagement Is Working”: ED

Glasgow

Thank you to PM @BorisJohnson and @antonioguterres for welcoming me to #COP26.

As the first President of Zimbabwe to visit the United Kingdom in a quarter of a century, it is clear that reengagement is working!

COP26 President Alok Sharma’s opening speech at COP26

From:Cabinet Office and The Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP

Friends, it is an honour to speak to you today for the first time as COP President.

And I want to thank my dear friend Carolina for her really strong leadership over the past two years.

Friends, I am very aware of the responsibility placed upon me in this role.

And I do not underestimate the challenge.

Let me start first by formally welcoming you to Glasgow.

And I want to thank you for all your efforts in getting to the United Kingdom, which I know for some has been arduous due to the impacts of the pandemic.

Indeed for almost two years now the pandemic has caused devastation and disruption, to lives and livelihoods across the world.

And I know this has particularly affected the least developed countries and the small island developing states.

And because of the pandemic, as you know, we postponed COP26 by a year. But during that year, climate change did not take time off.

And the IPCC report in August was a wake-up call for all of us.

It made clear that the lights are flashing red on the climate dashboard.

That report, agreed by 195 Governments, makes clear that human activity is unequivocally the cause of global warming.

And we know that the window to keep 1.5 degrees within reach is closing.

I have been humbled to speak over this year with communities devastated by climate change.

On a visit to Jomsom in Nepal, in the Hindu-Kush region I spoke to communities literally displaced from their homes from a combination of droughts and floods.

In Barbuda I met communities still suffering from the ravages of Hurricane Irma four years ago.

I have spoken with communities in East Africa fighting plagues of locusts spawned by climate change.

And earlier this month I spoke to a group of women in Madagascar,

Determinedly coping with what some describe, as the first climate induced famine in the world.

Friends, in each of our countries we are seeing the devastating impact of a changing climate.

Floods, cyclones, wildfires, record temperatures.

We know that our shared planet is changing for the worse.

And we can only address that together, through this international system.

And we know what we need to do.

Because six years ago, in Paris we agreed our shared goals.

We said we would protect people and nature from the effects of climate change.

We said we would get finance flowing to climate action.

And we said we would limit the rise in global temperature to well below two degrees pursuing efforts towards 1.5.

The rapidly changing climate is sounding an alarm to the world, to step up on adaptation, to address loss and damage, and to act now to keep 1.5 alive.

We know that this COP, COP26, is our last best hope to keep 1.5 in reach.

And I know that we have an unprecedented negotiations agenda ahead of us.

But I believe this international system can deliver.

It must deliver.

And as COP President I am committed to promoting transparency and inclusivity.

And I will lead this conference in accordance with the draft rules of procedure, and with the utmost respect for the party-driven nature of our process.

In that spirit I believe that we can resolve the outstanding issues. We can move the negotiations forward. And we can launch a decade of every increasing ambition and action.

And, together, we can seize the enormous opportunities for green growth, for good green jobs, for cheaper, cleaner power.

But we need to hit the ground running to develop the solutions that we need.

And that work, my friends, starts today.

And we will succeed.

Or fail.

As one.

Astronauts speak of the intense emotion they feel when looking back at Earth from space. Seeing it gleaming through the darkness of the cosmos.

Incredible, improbable and infinitely precious.

And if we act now, and we act together, we can protect our precious planet.

So let’s come together over these two weeks.

And ensure that where Paris promised, Glasgow delivers.

Thank you.

Temba Mliswa Attacks Hopewell Chin’ono

By A Correspondent- Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has come out guns blazing accusing journalist Hopewell Chin’ono of being a credit card fraudster who is pushing the West’s agenda in exchange of his freedom against criminal charges.

We publish below the full text by Mliswa:

@daddyhope I don’t need to be told anything about you. I know you and you know that. We were together in Slough in the UK with Supa and while some of us went for double shifts you never did. Why, because you made money fraudulently through credit card fraud

2/ Your narrative of being a correspondent for BBC is a fallacy because you were there on attachment. You are not a Christiane @camanpour or some such international journalists as you sell yourself to be as justification for the life you have

3/There was never anything special about your being a journalist as to have the kind of life you have. The reason is that you made money through credit card fraud and selling the country out to the West

4/ Resultantly, you have protected yourself against criminal charges by bootlicking the West whilst attacking your own country. Your bitterness with the government is also about how you lost out on the promised ZBC CEO position

5/ We were together in Operation Restore Legacy as you supported the new dispensation. You had been given assurances that you would take over at ZBC and had even struck some deals with foreign channels. However, that did not happen and you have become bitter

In fact it’s the opposition MPs who are seriously compromised by the poor remuneration because for one to be effective as a legislator you have to fork out money

Your preferred candidates will also find it hard to operate in it as long as it is not respected and capacitated as I’m advocating for

13/You are simply pulling things out of context to create a false proportion because that’s how you get paid. Some of us we do things out of principle and passion and are not on anyone’s payroll

Be patriotic

ED Declares Zanu PF’s 2023 Victory

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared a Zanu-PF victory two years ahead of the general elections, telling party supporters at the just-ended annual conference in Bindura that his party will elbow out the opposition from all urban councils.

The opposition MDC Alliance has won in most towns and cities in recent previous elections, with Zanu-PF’s stay in power predicated on its rural strongholds.

However, Mnangagwa told the party faithful that he had already sealed the 2023 victory.

“The mantra musangano kumacell (the party is stronger in cells) will undoubtedly see us predetermine and realise our resounding 2023 harmonised general election victory. The organisational reach of our party must continue to widen, capturing the greater part of our nation. We are, indeed, winning our election before election date,” Mnangagwa said.

He then blasted urban councils led by the opposition, describing them as corrupt and incompetent.

“Residents in urban areas have been abused by corrupt and incompetent opposition elements, and it is time for them to go,” he said.

But MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere dismissed Mnangagwa’s 2023 electoral victory claims, saying tables will turn in favour of opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.

“The opposition party is going to win the 2023 elections, and it is going to do so resoundingly. We are currently carrying out an intensive voter registration campaign in villages, towns and cities to ensure we galvanise six million citizens to vote for change,” she said.

“We are mobilising the citizens to turn out to vote in their millions and defend that vote vigilantly.

“We are building a polling agent defence system to ensure the vote is protected from rigging through a polling station-based mobilisation and monitoring programme.”

Mahere said the opposition was not sitting on its laurels and would run the biggest electoral campaign that the country has never witnessed.

“We will run the biggest electoral campaign that’s never been seen in the region and ultimately win Zimbabwe for change. This is why our new candidate selection procedures will give communities the power to decide which leaders will represent them,” she
said.

The Zanu-PF camp feels that it is gaining traction on the diplomatic front after Mnangagwa was invited to COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, in the United Kingdom (UK).

Mnangagwa, who flew out to Scotland yesterday, told delegates at his party conference that he would likely meet British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in what he described as a diplomatic victory for his government.

“I travel to Glasgow in the United Kingdom after over two decades have passed without Zimbabwean leadership going to the UK. I have been invited by Boris Johnson and he has indicated he might meet me in Glasgow one-on-one as well as other leaders like Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi), and we will be meeting others on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.

Mnangagwa claimed Zanu-PF had been vindicated by the report released on Thursday by the United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan, who said targeted sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union were affecting Zimbabwe.

“We should congratulate ourselves that we have never been wrong and we shall continue always being right,” he said.

“And those who have been found outside the law should reckon and take their position.”-Newsday

Beer ‘Poachers’ Must Be Chased Away Or Forcibly Removed From Pubs

People who frequent bars and night clubs begging for beer must be chased away and if they resist the outlet’s order, the police can be called to forcibly remove them, and this is just one of the raft of laws set up to control bars and public drinking.

In the event that those soliciting free beer fail to cooperate, such characters are charged for a defined criminal offence that prescribes imprisonment of up to 12 months.

The law has always been there, but police officers have not been enforcing it much, a development that saw what are known as beer poachers disturbing patrons’ peace at beer outlets.

In most high density suburbs, beer poachers are known characters, who frequent bars and bottle stores without any money, but seeking to solicit beer.

Section 79(1)(3) of the Liquor Act empowers the outlet managers or staffers to order the beer poachers off the premises. It stipulates that:

“(1) A licensee or approved manager or an agent or employee of a licensee or approved manager may refuse to admit to, or may turn out of, the licensed premises in respect of which he is the licensee or approved manager any person . . . who habitually frequents licensed premises for the purpose of soliciting drink;

“(2) All police officers in uniform are required, on the request of the licensee or approved manager or the agent or employee of the licensee or approved manager, to expel or assist in expelling every person referred to in subsection (1) from the licensed premises concerned and may use such force as may be reasonably necessary for that purpose.”

The same law empowers the beer outlets to refuse to serve beer to someone who is already visibly drunk and allows them to order the violent and quarrelsome off the premises.

In terms of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, those who defy police orders to vacate the beer outlets can be charged for disorderly conduct, an offence which attracts a prison term of up to 12 months.

Legal experts debated the relevance of the law, with some describing it as archaic.

A Harare lawyer who spoke on condition of anonymity said those who do not have money for beer should not be allowed to disturb patrons.

Soliciting for beer is an old misdemeanour known not only by the colonial regime, but even in traditional circles.

The prohibited conduct is unlike being a beggar who out of necessity is not accused of any crime because neighbourliness dictates that people help the needy.

On the contrary, an indigent fellow citizen benefits nothing from getting drunk.

“So, the offence creating provision is not only good to inhibit public nuisance, but largely protects the offender from harassing fellow imbibers while perpetuating his own poverty,” said the lawyer. “Those who love drinking must work hard to enjoy drinks rather than canvassing for beer.”

South Africa-based Zimbabwean lawyer Mrs Tambudzai Gonese-Manjonjo said the law was no longer relevant.

“I think the provision is archaic and paternalistic and it’s purpose is not clear,” she said.

“How would you go about knowing about somebody’s drinking habits unless you follow them around?”
While the problem mostly affects bars in the high density suburbs, some city clubs and bars have introduced measures to ensure that only serious patrons enter their premises.

Some clubs have introduced entry fees to ensure that people who enter can at least afford to buy one or two drinks.

Pablos Sports Bar representative Mr Lyndon Kapuya supported the law, although he said their club had no problems of beer poachers.

“The law remains relevant because those who come to solicit for beer may make patrons uncomfortable,” he said. “Some bars and clubs complain of such characters, but at Pablos we are so fortunate because our patrons have not yet complained of solicitors.”

The Liquor Act prohibits the sale of liquor to drunk people. Licensed premises where liquor is sold are empowered to turn away or eject from their premises people who are visibly drunk or who are violent, quarrelsome or offensive.

Bar managers and employees have a duty to sell liquor to patrons who can still handle their drink.
It is irresponsible to sell or continue selling alcohol to people who have clearly reached their limits. This preserves the integrity of the drinking place and the other patrons.

Licensed premises where alcohol is consumed operate within strict guidelines and times which must be adhered to.

Section 80 prohibits the consumption of alcohol later than 30 minutes after the stipulated closing time, to allow enough time to finish the last drink ordered before closing time.

The selling outlet must give sufficient warning to patrons of their intention to stop selling liquor and to close.

Selling alcohol beyond the allowed time stated in their liquor licence is an offence. Outlets in breach risk penalties such as suspension or cancellation of their licences.

The law also prohibits selling liquor to children and children are not permitted to enter licensed premises in which alcohol is sold. That is in terms of Section 84 of the Liquor Act.

The adults facilitating any such prohibited conduct by minors are liable for prosecution.

According to the same Act, no beer should be given for free. All liquor should be sold unless it is done within reason for promotions such as sampling or prizes.

Similarly credit sales of alcohol are strictly prohibited in terms of Section 81. The sale of alcohol other than for immediate payment is prohibited.

JUST IN: ZINASU Leader Allan Moyo Acquitted

After spending more than two months in remand prison for allegedly calling for a revolt against President Mnangagwa’s govt, Allan Moyo, a pro-democracy campaigner and University of Zimbabwe student is now a free man after he was removed from remand on 27 October by Magistrate Barbra Mateko.

This came after Moyo’s lawyer Obey Shava applied for the removal of his client from remand as the State was not ready to commence trial since he was arrested in December.

The State was advised to summon Moyo to appear in court if it intends to continue with prosecuting him on charges of participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of the peace or bigotry as defined in section 37(1)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification & Reform) Act.

Elections Official Caught Red-handed Stuffing Marked Ballots

By A Correspondent- An elections official in South Africa was reportedly caught committing electoral fraud on Sunday, a few hours before the country was due to hold municipal elections.

The Electoral Commission of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal said it had roped in the police to investigate allegations that one of its presiding officers was allegedly caught stuffing marked ballots into a ballot box.

It was not immediately clear which party the officer was trying to aid by committing the alleged offence and whether he has been relieved of his or her crucial role. The Commission said on Sunday:

In Ward 93, Kusakusa Primary School, in the Mbumbulu area in eThekwini Metro Municipality, a presiding officer was allegedly discovered by party agents, stuffing marked ballot papers into a ballot box.

This remains an allegation and SAPS are still investigating. Members of the media will be updated as soon as the full report is received from SAPS.

The first electoral official to be convicted (for five years) for electoral fraud post-1994 was Sindisiwe Ncube of Ulundi.

In the 2009 general elections, Ncube was allegedly caught stuffing marked ballots and the ballots were allegedly in favour of the IFP.-IOL

Teachers Unions Vow To Fight Salary Cut

By A Correspondent- Teachers unions yesterday vowed to take legal action against government for withholding salaries of their members who were not reporting for work because of “incapacitation”.

Some teachers claim they have gone for 10 months without salary after headmasters forwarded their names to the Public Service and Labour ministry for not reporting for duty. The unions told NewsDay that the move was unconstitutional.

Educators Union in Zimbabwe president Tafadzwa Munodawafa said the union had started processes to seek legal recourse.

“We have two such cases as a union and we have forwarded them to our lawyers,” Munodawafa said.

In a statement yesterday, Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou said:

“(Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare minister Paul) Mavima must be schooled to respect the law so that should he assume that teachers have absconded from work as he did, he must order the Primary and Secondary Education ministry to summon teachers for hearings rather than use the colonial Master and Servant Act to dock teachers’ salaries under a misplaced ruse of ‘no work, no pay’.

“We, therefore, want to overemphasise the point that the so-called absenteeism must be clearly taken in its proper perspective of incapacitation. We, therefore, urge teachers whose salaries have been docked to contact unions of their choice in order to embark on natural justice in defence of the teaching profession.”

Zhou also warned school heads deliberately frustrating teachers by submitting their names to government to have their salaries docked.

“A considerable number of some school heads are also Nicodemously sending names of teachers to education offices without the courtesy of informing teachers who are surprised to find themselves without pay on payday. The system is also used to settle old scores in schools.”

He urged teachers whose salaries were docked to check the reasons that were cited by their school heads.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said:

“There is Matsine Secondary School in Wedza where teachers’ salaries were docked and Zimta is encouraging other unions to come on board to defend the rights of teachers because it’s what we exist to do.”

Amalgamated rural teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure  said:

“It is true that government has docked salaries of our members who are ordinarily incapacitated and failing to report for duty. It is not because they don’t want to, but it is because they are not capacitated. We don’t want to rely on the courts of law because we know the law has never favoured the working class.”

He said his union would mobilise forces to resist exploitation of teachers through protests targeting examination time.

Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro recently told NewsDay that minister Evelyn Ndlovu promised to improve the conditions of service of teachers.

“Traditional Leaders Are Not Bound By Constitution”: Charumbira

By A Correspondent- Chiefs’ Council president Fortune Charumbira has claimed that traditional leaders were not bound by the Constitution because the chieftainship institution was in existence before the country’s charter was crafted.

After telling delegates at the Zanu-PF annual conference that chiefs would not leave the ruling party, he told NewsDay yesterday that he was openly violating the Constitution because chiefs could not be bound by any law as their institution was there before laws were made.

“What Constitution? What came first, the Constitution or the chiefs? We came first as chiefs before the Constitution,” he said.

“I exhausted that in my speech and all those criticising me do not know anything,” he added while insisting there was nothing amiss about his declaration of support for Zanu-PF.

On Friday last week, Charumbira told delegates at the Zanu-PF conference in Bindura that the traditional leaders were the owners of the party.

“We come as owners of the party. The reason for the existence of Zanu-PF is all about traditional leadership and it is about injustice,” Chief Charumbira said.

Chapter 15.2 of the Constitution stipulates that traditional leaders are not allowed to bear allegiance to any political party or to participate in partisan politics.

Zanu-PF secretary for legal affairs Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana claimed that although chiefs were not allowed to dabble in politics, they had a right to express their views.

“They are saying they associate themselves with the philosophies which underpin Zanu-PF. Every political party can also articulate its philosophies in line with what the traditional leaders want,” he said.

“They are not supposed to interfere in the political space, but they have a right to participate and associate themselves with a political party of their choice. You have to balance between the right to interfere in the political space and express a view which is in line with a particular political part.”-newsday

“Time Is Ripe For Engage In Dialogue”

By Wilbert Mukori- Zanu PF invited the UN Special rapporteur to investigate the negative impact of sanctions on the ordinary people. The regime hoped the rapporteur would confirm its claim that sanctions were the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. She did not find any evidence to support this narrative and thus dismissed the sanctions narrative as a “rhetorical and advocacy tool” to draw attention away from the real causes.

“Time is ripe for the sanctioning states and key national stakeholders to engage in a meaningful structured dialogue on political reform, human rights and the rule of law and abandon rhetoric on sanctions as an advocacy tool,” said Alena Douhan, the UN rapporteur.

Zimbabwe is in serious economic trouble with unemployment sitting at 90%, basic services such as education and health care all but collapsed, 49% of our people now live in abject poverty, etc. The country is now standing at the very edge of the precipitous abyss. We need to step back now before it is too late.

We need to address the real causes of the country’s economic meltdown; the gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and the country’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. It is the latter, the failure to hold free elections, which is at the very heart of our economic and political mess – the nation has been stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime for 41 years and counting because the party rigged elections!

Zimbabwe’s next elections in 2023 must be free, fair and credible and for this to happen all the democratic reforms to dismantle the the Zanu PF dictatorship must be implemented. Not even one token reform has been implemented and, with less than two years to go to the 2023 elections, no reforms will be implemented.

Indeed, ZEC has failed to make the voters’ roll available for public scrutiny during the on-going voter registration and so there will be no verified voters’ roll for the 2023 elections.

Zanu PF has denied 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote, sometime President Mnangagwa had promised in 2018. The party argues there would be no diaspora vote as long as the sanctions imposed by the West remain. Why the ordinary Zimbabweans are being punished for something over which they have no say beggars belief.

It is clear already that Zanu PF is rigging these elections. How can there be free, fair and credible elections without a verified voters’ roll? How can the elections be legal when one contestant is allowed to cherry pick the voters, denying 3 million in the diaspora the vote out of 8 million voters or 37%.

Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections in advance and therefore the process can and must be condemned in advance.

Zimbabwe will need a GNU, post 2023 elections, whose primary task will be to finally implement the democratic reforms and hold the nation’s first ever free, fair and credible elections.

Mnangagwa et al will be fighting hard to force sanctions and other trivial issues back on the national agenda.

The cold reality is Zimbabwe is in serious economic and political trouble; 41 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule have left the country in economic ruins, unemployment has soared to 90%, basic services such as education and health care have all but collapsed, 49% of the population now live in abject poverty.

Zimbabwe is standing on the edge of the precipitous abyss. The country desperately needs to stop and step back. We need to address the root causes of the country’s economic and political problems and not waste time on rhetorical sanctions.

In UN language, UN special rapporteur has rebuked President Emmerson Mnangagwa, his cronies and apologists to stop wasting time on rhetorical sanctions could have been even more explicit in her condemnation of the regime’s failure to address mismanagement, corruption and, most important of all, to hold free, fair and credible elections.

The human suffering in Zimbabwe and the country’s economic and political stability are at stake; this is not the time for diplomatic niceties!

1/2 A Million Youths Skip Zim Borders In One Year

By A Correspondent- Over half a million young people have left the country for greener pastures in 2020 alone, a recent International Labour Organisation (ILO) report has established.

The report, titled Labour Market Diagnostic Analysis (LMDA), states that the number does not consider net migration, which has been negative, with numerous workers leaving the country in search of better work opportunities in neighbouring countries and further afield. The report says:

It is estimated that in 2020, net migration the number of immigrants minus the number of emigrants was close to 580 000 people. Although there is no accurate data on the number of the working-age population, leaving the country to work abroad.

The most recent study suggests that 72% of outgoing migrants fall in the 20 to 34 years age group. In addition, 40% were women and 73% completed secondary education.

The majority of emigrants cited a lack of employment opportunities as the major reason for leaving the country. Most worked in the agricultural sector before their departure. South Africa was the leading destination chosen by emigrants, followed by Botswana.

Unfortunately, due to their irregular status, most Zimbabwean emigrants appear to occupy low-quality jobs characterised by the absence of employment contracts and social protection.

The report observes that other things being equal, women and young workers are four times more likely to be inactive than men and adult workers respectively.

Youth who enter the labour market may also face additional barriers to finding a job, partly due to a lack of work experience, difficulties signalling their skills to employers, fewer opportunities to access capital and lower levels of social capital.

What Type Of Flue Is This That’s Hit Bulawayo?

A flu outbreak has hit Bulawayo resulting in hundreds of children seeking medication, a development which experts say is a result of fluctuating weather patterns.
The flu which is an upper respiratory tract infection usually resolve within seven to 10 days but has Covid-19 like symptoms which put a lot of parents and guardians in panic mode.

Some children also vomit and lose appetite and parents are saying the symptoms cannot be cleared by over-the-counter medication.

In an interview Bulawayo director of Health Services Dr Edwin Sibanda said the flu is a common viral infection that affects the nose, throat and airways.

“There is an outbreak of the upper respiratory tract infection and its affecting many children in Bulawayo but I do not have the exact numbers now. There were suspicious that the the flu was infact Covid-19,” said Dr Sibanda.

He said those with the flu have Covid-19 like symptoms although there would be differences in severity.

“Residents should take their children to health centres though under normal circumstances flu goes away without treatment. This flu due to weather changes has been spreading easily,” he said.

Dr Sibanda said the problem with respiratory symptoms and flu in particular, is that there are no

confirmatory tests being done to know what bug exactly is going around.

“With the changes in weather, it is expected that these symptoms will increase. The prevention measures are the same as for Covid-19, it’s a matter of strengthening what we are doing for Covid-19,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory said influenza testing had been halted in Zimbabwe due to shortages of test kits.

Covid-19 pandemic according to the lab has given rise to the need for surveillance of other Influenza viruses.

“The National Microbiology Reference Laboratory has capacity through existing infrastructure to test for all Influenza viruses.

Influenza screening has not been routinely done at NMRL due to lack of test kits. A kit that has been recently donated by WHO for initial surveillance of influenza was used to screen a few samples that have been coming in. However, the kit lacks independent validation in-country hence the need to send samples for confirmatory testing at the Regional Influenza Surveillance Network Laboratory in South Africa,” read the statement.

“There is also need to have commercial panels of Influenza strains so as to enable in country evaluations of Influenza PCR kits. Influenza A is known to cause common colds and is commonly associated with seasonal outbreaks hence the need to build local capacity for Influenza screening.”

The NBRL said there is also need to mobilise resources for sequencing to enable identification of the actual strain responsible for the reported illnesses.

A parent Ms Sinikiwe Ncube said she had to rush her two-year-old daughter to the doctor after failing to contain the cold with over-the-counter medication.

“At first I thought her temperature was rising due to the clothes she was wearing as weather conditions changed within hours. She then had a running nose and after using the usual remedy, I went to the doctor who confirmed there was a bug making rounds in the city,” she said.

Ms Ncube said the cold can clear and then resurface after a few days and her daughter has been taking treatment non stop for two months.

“Sometimes she can start vomiting and I now understand that it is part of symptoms affecting her,” she said.

Mrs Lynet Nyandoro said the fluctuating weather conditions left her twin sons unable to attend school for more than a week.

“I was convinced that my children had Covid-19 as they were weak and sickly which was worsened by the fact that most over the counter medications did not work. The nurses finally told me there is a prevalent bug affecting under-fives. I was relieved when they both tested negative for Covid-19,” said Mrs Nyandoro. -Chronicle

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly In Bikita Recruitment Drive

31-10-2021

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly recruitment juggernaut yesterday invaded Nehanda Business Centre, Bikita East Constituency in Masvingo Province.

Running under the #One Million Campaign, the Assembly is using sport as a recruitment and mobilization tool with a strong focus on rural youths.

We are building a strong rural base of youths who are conscious of the economic, social and political questions of the day.

At least more than a thousand new members were recruited yesterday with a view to convert the numbers into registered votes for President Nelson Chamisa.

Yesterday’s program was yet another successful soccer tournament organized by the able youth leadership of Masvingo Province with the energetic SG Gilbert Mutubuki leading from the front.

We are using sport as convergence tool for young people. At the beginning of this year, the People’s President Advocate Nelson Chamisa rolled out the Citizens Convergence for Change theme.

Apart from Masvingo Provincial Youth Assembly leadership, yesterday’s program was graced by the firebrand Acting Youth Assembly National Chairperson, Commander Cecilia Chimbiri, the workaholic Acting Youth Assembly National Organizer Lovejoy Chitengu and the maverick Youth Assembly National Deputy Treasurer General, Hon Judith Tobaiwa.

A special mention to all Youth NEC members who made the trip to Bikita East.

We are removing Emmerson Mnangagwa in the upcoming general elections.

Mnangagwa Declares Self 2023 Plebiscite Winner

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the ruling ZANU PF will win the 2023 elections saying the party has gained popularity over the past few years.

He attributed the party’s growth and success to “its ability to accelerate the transformation of the socio-economic conditions of Zimbabweans.”

Addressing party members at the end of the ZANU PF 19th National People’s Conference in Bindura this Saturday, Mnangagwa said:

Our structures are vibrant with more active members, supporters and sympathizers. The organisational reach of our party must continue to widen, capturing the greater part of our nation. We are indeed winning our election before election date. Our expansive membership attests to the ever-growing faith, trust and allegiance, which the people have to the revolutionary party.

He added that ZANU PF “under the Second Republic has shown that it is the only party capable of delivering a better and more prosperous future for the people of our great country.”

He speaks when Zimbabwe is submerged under economic, humanitarian, and political crises that manifest through soaring inflation, poor salaries for workers, and a deteriorating democratic space.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa has also expressed confidence that it will unseat Mnangagwa in 2023.

Political analysts are calling for political and media reforms to ensure that there is a level playing field ahead of the election. They say the current political landscape favours the ruling party.- ZBC

We Own Zanu PF- Chief Charumbira

CHIEFS’ Council president Fortune Charumbira yesterday openly defied the national Constitution which forbids traditional leaders from dabbling in partisan party politics after he publicly declared that chiefs were the owners of the ruling Zanu PF party.

Addressing delegates at the party’s annual conference in Bindura, Charumbira, who was once taken to court for urging chiefs to support Zanu PF, said “we come as owners of the party”.

“On behalf of all chiefs and headmen, I want to say, we are together with Zanu PF,” Charmubira said.

“We got invited through a letter and that letter showed who we are. We were invited as delegates, but if you go to the start, we are the owners of Zanu PF.”

Chapter 15.2 of the Constitution forbids traditional leaders from being members of any political party or in any way participate in partisan politics, act in a partisan manner, further the interests of any political party or cause or violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of any person.

“We come as owners of the party, the reason for the existence of Zanu PF is all about traditional leadership, and it is about injustice,” Charumbira said.

“This party is ours, which is the truth. War veterans, you fought the war, you are shareholders, but we are the owners, and others are members, which is the truth.”

Traditional leaders have often been accused of forcing their subjects to support Zanu PF during elections to the extent of threatening to take away their land for supporting the opposition, or denying them government-sourced food aid.

A fortnight ago, Zanu PF supporters in Charumbira’s village in Masvingo attacked MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa’s convoy during the opposition leader’s tour of the province.

Charumbira yesterday pleaded with delegates at the Zanu PF conference to uphold peace, saying the ongoing internecine fights in the ruling party were a sad reminder of the late former President Robert Mugabe’s era of violence and intolerance.

He played down the alleged power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga, saying the alleged fallout was a creation of ambitious party members angling to land key positions leveraging on their proximity to the two leaders. – NewsDay

Bosso Crash Out Of Chibuku Super Cup

Defending champions Highlanders have crashed out of the Chibuku Super Cup after losing to FC Platinum 1-0 in a quarterfinal clash played at the Baobab Stadium on Saturday.

The Platinum Boys got their goal from young Panashe Mutimbanyoka early in the second half.

The game had a cagey start but Bosso retained dominance in the opening moments of the game.

The first meaningful chance fell on the way of Washington Navaya who took a first time shot inside the box on minute 20, but the effort went straight to the keeper.

FC Platinum, on the other end, only came close to the goal after the half-hour when Innocent Muchaneka tried a shot from a range. Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya followed up moments later but was denied by the keeper to see the game going to the break goalless.

Mutimbanyoka opened the scoring two minutes into the second half after a well-worked build-up. Rodwell Chinyengetere could have made it two for the Platinum Boys on the hour but was denied by the keeper from the spot.

The scoreline remained unchanged, and FC Platinum booked their place in the semifinals of the tournament.

They join Ngezi Platinum, who beat Chicken Inn 2-1 in an early kick-off on Saturday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

By Tinashe Sambiri | The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa is attending the United Nations COP26 Climate Change Summit in Glasgow after creating an environmental time bomb in Zimbabwe through shadowy coal- mining activities in Hwange.

Beitbridge Border Post Situation Normalises

By A Correspondent- The situation on the Zimbabwean side of the Beitbridge Border Post is back to normal after days of chaos caused by upgrades at the country’s busiest port of entry.

Truck drivers were spending up to 10 days in snaking queues at the border after Zimbabwe introduced new toll fees pegged in foreign currency.

Traffic was also slowed down by construction works amid fears the chaos would see transporters opting for more convenient routes, prejudicing Beitbridge.

ZimBorders spokesman François Diedrechsen said insignificant short-term movement in commercial from Beitbridge to Kazungula and other routes was observed during the crisis.

“While there may be some short-term movement from one border crossing to another, we believe our improved processes and crossing speed resulted in time and money savings to our clients,” Diedrechsen said in an interview.

“We have received comments from various transporter groups where they made comparisons pointing out that some had sent trucks in both directions at the same time.

“Those going through Beitbridge had fast turnaround time than the alternative routes.”

ZimBorders Consortium is undertaking the US$300 million Beitbridge’s modernisation project that will see new terminal buildings being constructed.

A fortnight ago, South Africa expressed frustration at the congestion and delays at the Beitbridge Border post with that country’s Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi piling blame on Zimbabwean authorities.

Truckers were spending several days at the border owing to attendant delays resulting from recently introduced processing procedures by Zimbabwean authorities, Motsoaledi said.

He described the new measures by Zimbabwean authorities such as demanding United States dollar toll fees in cash without engaging their South African counterparts as a mockery to African Union agreements on free trade.

The toll fees are pegged at US$200 and $340 for small trucks and abnormal trucks respectively.-standard

ED Cracks Whip On Violent Party Members

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has threatened to descend heavily on party members engaged in violence as Zanu-PF continues to burn amid reports that the party’s restructuring exercise has divided membership.

The restructuring exercise has led to violence erupting with elections for new district structures failing to take off due to infighting.

Addressing a Zanu-PF Central Committee meeting ahead of the 19th National People’s Conference in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa said the restructuring exercise should serve as a springboard for strengthening party structures.

“I want to reiterate that we are a united, disciplined and peaceful party. Violence, political chicanery and divisive elements have no place in our colossal party.

“Under the Second Republic, we will scale up programmes that enhance dialogue, social cohesion and national unity. We are indeed diverse but one people,” he said.

Battles to control Zanu-PF structures have been raging across Zimbabwe with the ruling party leadership struggling to complete the formation of district structures ahead of the conference.

Several district elections failed to take off while violence has erupted in some provinces in the weeks ahead of the ruling party’s first-ever hybrid conference in the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The party itself has not been spared from the pandemic, which has claimed lives of its leaders including Cabinet ministers. The annual gathering will also be held at 10 different venues across Zimbabwe.

Politburo members will be at the main venue in Bindura with other members following proceedings virtually, between October 25 and 31, with all delegates expected to produce Covid-19 vaccination cards.

However, it is the raging battles that have engulfed Mnangagwa’s Zanu-PF amid reports that besides the scuffles reported in provinces, the fissures go straight up to the Presidium.

Mnangagwa acknowledged the chaotic situation in the revolutionary party threatening to descend heavily on unruly members violating the constitution.

The party has recorded turmoil in the host province, Mashonaland Central. Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Harare, Masvingo and the Midlands provinces have also been rocked by the factional fighting.

Party sources told the Zimbabwe Independent early this week that while the house was burning those battling to control the structures have also aligned themselves to, either, Mnangagwa or his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.

According to sources, battles in Zanu-PF start at the district committee level where leaders fight for control of the districts whose members make up the provincial committee and structures.

Zanu-PF structures start with a cell of 50 members with 10 cells making a branch and this would now have 500 people or members.

“The district will coordinate all these structures. The district will have 40 members from the Main Wing, 40 from the Women’s League and 40 from the Youth League, meaning it has 120 members. The district structure has a direct link to the members in the cells and branches,” the sources revealed.

However, the restructuring exercise has divided the party with President Mnangagwa acknowledging the challenges facing his party.

A UN Report that ignores the obvious connection between ZanuPF’s actions in power and human suffering in Zimbabwe

By Nontokozo Malaba Ncube| There has been warranted outrage at the UN Special Rapporteur’s report on Zimbabwe. For an investigation about sanctions and human rights, it is ironic how this report does not talk much about the ‘humans’ of Zimbabwe.

Yes, the report contains a lot of economic and financial observations, which are hugely simplified, not in any good way. On the other hand, the report does not give serious acknowledgement of the hard life faced by the majority of Zimbabweans under this military dictatorship of which sanctions are used as an excuse.

Moreover, the report does not provide real recognition of the experiences by the opposition (MDC Alliance) who have been crying for an end to corruption, an end to use of force and oppressive political environment by ZanuPF.

So, what exactly is the angle for the UN or this Special Rapporteur on this issue? What are they trying to achieve by publishing such a heavily biased report? When a report on human suffering does not cover issues associated with that suffering such as what is evident, upon arrival at Harare Airport, one can only assume that the report has nothing to do with the people but other nefarious agendas.

Some analysts believe that this whole thing is about them trying to make it easy for money made from Zimbabwean corrupt activities to be able to be laundered around the world as legitimate. The biased nature of the report could he explained by the curious job description of a UN Special Rapporteur. Perhaps the UN itself will disregard the report.

It can be mentioned, in recent weeks the UN has been caught on the wrong side of reality with regards to Africa and they have been forced to backtrack.

We saw that story about them appointing the disgraced former UK Health Secretary as some UN Covid 19 envoy Africa which was widely criticised on social media.

Nonetheless, despite the biased utterances of this report, Zimbabwe is being run by a military dictatorship that is hell-bent on looting from the country and they discharge violence and murder on anyone who gets in their way at will.

It could have been of more value if the UN Special Rapporteur had engaged the common man in the street in order to get a clearer picture of the prevailing socio economic and political situation in Zimbabwe.

Chiefs Openly Defy Constitution. What Next?

– NewsDay

Prophetess In Soup Over Abortion

By A Correspondent- A self-proclaimed prophetess has been arrested after he allegedly gave a teenage girl muti to terminate her pregnancy causing her to bleed excessively from her private parts.

The 17-year-old pregnant teenage girl from Magombo compound in umguza district approached the self-proclaimed prophetess, Caroline Ndlela (25), who gave her a concoction which she drank.

After taking the concoction, the teenager suffered stomach complications and bled excessively, said a source. The teenager felt intense pain in her stomach and private parts as blood oozed out. She had to frequent the toilet and left blood stains and that sold her out.

A family member reported the matter to the village head of the area, Enita Ngwenya.
Ngwenya confirmed the incident : “I received such a report and the matter is being handled by the police.”

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged such offenders to seek help from health institutions rather than to seek help from bogus prophets or traditional healers.

Luxury At Zanu Pf Conference As Majority Languish In Poverty

By A Correspondent- The Zanu-PF juggernaut rolled into the small mining town of Bindura as the party’s politburo and senior government officials arrived in their chauffeur-driven luxury cars to attend the 19th annual conference.

President  Emmerson Mnangagwa and his two lieutenants, Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi flew in on two helicopters.

It was the top of the range SUVs and other all-terrain vehicles that caught the eyes of the people of Bindura.

Politburo members, cabinet ministers and other senior party and government officials chose to attend the conference from Harare, hence the influx of the wide variety of vehicles that rolled into the mining town.

However, with proceedings going on at the Bindura University of Science Education, the ordinary people chose to go on with their business as usual, indicating that the sideshow was an unnecessary distraction as they decided to seek the elusive money with poverty levels quite high in the province.

Mashonaland Central remains one of the poorest provinces in Zimbabwe despite being home to large deposits of gold, nickel and chrome, among other minerals.

In interviews around the town, residents said the Zanu-PF conference was for the top officials who were not worried about looking for money while the people were struggling to make ends meet.

“We have to earn a living and the good thing is that they have limited the numbers because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but all the same that is a meeting for the rich and famous so we would rather be working as usual,” a vendor Anesu Chanetsa said.

A foreign currency dealer at one leading retail shop expressed ignorance of the proceedings at the annual conference, adding that the roadshow had nothing to do with the ordinary people.

“We do not gain anything from that meeting and all the same these chefs are not even staying here and have chosen to drive themselves in their luxury cars from Harare,” he said.

Cecilia Kudzwayi, an informal trader, said the levels of poverty in the province was very high, calling on the leaders, both in government and the ruling party to consider the plight of the ordinary folks.

“People are struggling even to afford a single decent meal on a day and our leaders should meet the people to understand their plight before they hold these conferences while enjoying themselves,” she said.

Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs minister Monica Mavhunga highlighted the challenges faced by people in the province.

The province does not have even a provincial hospital.

Two of the districts in Mashonaland Central, Mbire and Muzarabani, do not have government hospitals, according to Mavhunga.

Provincial chairman, Kazembe Kazembe also highlighted challenges associated with unequal distribution of resources, saying there were fights among youths on the various mines in the province.-standard

Covid-19 Infections In Schools Decline

By A Correspondent- Cabinet this week announced that the number of new Covid-19 infections among learners in schools continues to decrease.

The travel of boarders during the term exeat, as well as general non-compliance with standard operating procedures for the prevention and management of Covid-19 and other influenza-like illnesses, has contributed to outbreaks in schools.

“It has been observed that some private schools are not fully observing the provisions of the Education Act as evidenced by the continued practice of allowing parents to withdraw boarders from school for exeat weekend or for half-term school breaks during the pandemic, and that enforcement of the Public Health Act on such unsanctioned movement of learners during the pandemic will be evoked and strengthened,” the post-cabinet briefing reads.

As at 25 October 2021, the country’s cumulative Covid-19 cases stood at 132 688 with 127 433 recoveries and 4673 deaths.

The recovery rate was 96% with 582 active cases reported. A total of 303 cases were reported as compared to the 572 the previous week, showing a 47% decrease in cases.

“This is an indication that the national response efforts continue to bear positive results in containing the pandemic,” the briefing reads.

Regarding the national vaccination programme, as at 22 October 2021, a total of 3 275 033 first doses had been administered, while 2 545 717 people had received their second dose.

“Cabinet also noted the need to ramp up vaccination to attain the national herd immunity by year-end as targeted.

“To this end, a programme of activities and schedule is being compiled in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.

“The government urges all citizens and urges all citizens who are yet to be inoculated to present themselves for vaccination,” the briefing reads.

Previously, schools in the Midlands battled Covid-19 infections after an outbreak in Mberengwa district, which sent students and parents into panic mode.

The government intervened and carried out Covid-19 tests at the affected schools, including Masase, Mnene, Chegato and Musume, before isolating pupils who tested positive.
