Former Zanu PF Youth Boss Belittles Chamisa

By- Godfrey Tsenengamu, the former Zanu PF Youth League Political Commissar has belittled the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa.

Tsenengamu said the CCC leader is weak and cannot dislodge Zanu PF from power.

Tsenengamu who now leads the Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ) made the remarks after announcing the impending formation of a coalition with other smaller parties to overthrow both the ruling Zanu PF and CCC.

He said the two major parties would not bring change to Zimbabwe, NewZimbabwe reported.

Addressing a Press conference in Harare Tuesday, Tsenengamu said he has lost confidence in CCC as it was failing to pile pressure while its members were rotting in jail. He said:

We believe in confronting the problem whatever it is and we are so much convinced that under the leadership of Advocate Nelson Chamisa if we were to work with him under the CCC we were not going to achieve what we intended to achieve.

Yes, we admit they are a very strong movement, Chamisa is very likeable, very popular and a good public speaker, but we think that he is weak somehow, he is ineffective.

The situation that Zimbabwe finds itself in, does not require a leadership that thinks Zanu PF is going to be removed through prayers and tweeting, Zanu PF is a beast that has to be confronted head on, Zimbabwe requires a movement that can square up to Zanu PF blow by blow.

He also accused Chamisa of failing to unite his own party, being self-centred and exhibiting dictatorial tendencies.

Fight Over Knowe Residents Association

A fresh turf war has erupted between splinter groups of Knowe Residents and Ratepayers Association calling parallel meetings in Norton.

Knowe is a predominantly medium density surburb developed by E. Pfugari Properties.

The turf war is between Todson Ruramai, who is being accused of acrimoniously holding on to the chairmanship of the association since 2002 and turning the organisation into his personal entity.

The splinter group, which has been fruitfully engaging Norton Town Council and the property developer, is fronted by Damian Ndoro.

Ruramai has called for an annual general meeting in his capacity as KRRA chairperson, but some residents have vowed not to attend the meeting.

“Ruramai has been the chairperson for the past twenty years. He only wants power but is not pushing the area’s agenda. We are not going to attend,” said one resident.

Ruramai maintains he is a bonafide leader of the association.

“I have fought for the development of this area for a long time. I have taken the developer to court and we have won several cases. People should judge me with what I have done over these years, not with the time I have been at the helm,” he said.

Ndoro said his bone of contention with Ruramai was on the model to take for the development of the area and the fact that he has turned his association to a one man band.

“The fact is, he is the only member of his committee – at least he should have told us who the other members are. He has been asked on several occasions and can’t even mention just one. The last meeting he called on 17 September 2017 such a committee was not there and can’t be there now. He remains a sole executive member of KRRA. That has serious implications on the functionality of the Association and the decision making process,” Ndoro said.

“I believe we will develop Knowe with our own resources. We have to fork out more money. We are not the first people to lose to a developer. We can’t just sit hoping one day our suburb will be what we want it to be. We have to work for change. Change is coming. I can smell rain. I see rain coming, said Elijah to Ahab. Ahab was a cruel king,” he said.

Police Search For Wife Killer

CHIPINGE – A 35-year-old Chipinge man is on the run after stabbing his wife four times in the chest and killing her on the spot over alleged infidelity.

Edmore Mandevere of Mukono Village, Chief Mapungwana stabbed Paida Madhochi (25) after labeling her a prostitute.

Manicaland Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the gruesome murder that happened on September 27, 2022.

Muzondo said on September 25, the two decided to visit their aunt Hariet Shupikai in Mwandifura Village, Chief Mutema for counseling over marital problems.

After counseling, Madhochi refused to go back to their matrimonial home and she slept over at Shupikai’s place. On September 27 at around midnight, Mandevere phoned his wife and told her to come and collect her belongings.

At around 230pm, Madhochi went back to her matrimonial home to collect her belongings in the company of Shupikai.

After packing her belongings, Mandevere shouted at Madhochi accusing her of being a prostitute. He drew a kitchen knife from his pocket and Shupikai turned and ran away.

Mandevere chased and caught up with her when she fell down. He stabbed her four times on the chest while Shupikai was watching. Madhochi died on the spot.

Mandevere fled the scene leaving the deceased lying on the ground.

Inspector Muzondo is appealing to members of the public who may have any information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

“The couple had done the right thing when they sought counseling from their aunt. They recognized the family institution for mediating in domestic disputes. According to our traditions, it’s the aunt’s role to do that.

“We are encouraging people with similar issues to exercise restraint when faced with high emotions. Members of the public can call Police on 020 66637 or on my number 0773553148,” said Muzondo.- Chipinge Times

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told the Paris Saint Germain board that he wants to leave the club in January, amid revelations that the is ‘fed up’.

The 23-year France international extended his stay at the club for another three years last season, after it was widely-speculated that he would move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Mbappe fully-committed his future to PSG but but reportedly now wants out.

French publication Le Parisian reports that the World Cup winner is not happy with the position he is playing under head coach Christophe Galtier, as it does not correspond with the promises made in his new contract.

This comes amid reports of turf wars between members of the ruling ZANU PF and opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members.

Recent clashes on Friday resulted in the death of one man, Onsimo Mavhingire (34) after he was severely assaulted with sticks and wooden poles at Magaba, Mbare on 07 October 2022 at around 1400 hours.

Mavhingire succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack, on 08/10/22 while admitted at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

Thirteen (13) people have been arrested in connection with the clashes.

Teachers Union Demand Dismissal Of Minister Murwira

Teachers’ unions are demanding the dismissal of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development minister Amon Murwira for calling on the new graduates to open own schools to cater for the estimated 4 000 schools deficit in the country.

The unions said the remarks were reckless since government in constitutionally mandated to provide education facilities for its citizens and not delegate that responsibility to private investors.

Addressing a graduation ceremony at the United College of Education (UCE) in Bulawayo recently, Murwira stated that graduate teachers should open private schools to cover the over 4 000 deficit in the country.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) president Obert Masaraure said the availability of quality public education was a fundamental right whose provision fell squarely on the State.

“Private educational institutions were never designed to take the responsibility to provide education from the State. If anything, the duty of the State becomes more pronounced as it must directly supervise these schools to ensure the education offered meets the quality necessary for national development. In addition, regional and international conventions and instruments are clear on the duty of the State in providing accessible quality education for all,” Masaraure said.

“Only ruling party, the elite can afford to create these private schools. Murwira’s sentiments were meant to legitimise the proliferation of private schools owned by the ruling elites. Teachers are being exploited in such schools and we hope the graduate teachers understand that they are being lured to private schools to be exploited.”

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou added: “The issue of building institutions of learning is a government issue. Murwira must accept that the State has failed. If the State has failed, it is better to look for investors who could possibly build schools.”

Educators Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Tapedza Zhou said: “The government has an obligation to provide quality education through a regulatory framework that includes policy formulation and implementation and a sound monitoring and supervisoryrole that effectively checks the quality of education.”

Efforts to get a comment from Murwira were fruitless yesterday as he was not picking calls.

Meanwhile, government has reinstated some of the teachers that were suspended for absenteeism.

This has resulted in union leaders such as Tafadzwa Munodawafa being reinstated after a 22-month impasse.

Tsenengamu Says His Party Will Push For GNU After 2023 Polls

Opposition Front for Economic Emancipation leader Godfrey Tsenengamu said his party would push for the formation of a government of national unity after next year’s general elections.

Addressing a Press conference in Harare yesterday, Tsenengamu said they were prepared to confront State security agents — particularly members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) in the run-up to next year’s polls.

“We are not afraid of anyone; be it the CIO because we are not going to break any law to mobilise people. If anyone thinks that they will stop us, they will be disappointed as they wont be able to stop us.

“We will respond equally to anyone who wants to stop us because we believe that we are all equal. What is enjoyed by Zanu-PF should be enjoyed by everyone,” Tsenengamu said.

He called on the ruling party to desist from disrupting opposition rallies ahead of elections.

“Zanu-PF has no monopoly over how political parties must conduct their campaigns. Zanu-PF is not terrorised at opposition strongholds; so no one must terrorise us (opposition) as we get into their perceived strongholds. We have been in Zanu-PF; and we know how they do their things. We know what is going to come our way, but as a party we are ready.”

On use of hate speech during campaigns, Tsenengamu said: “The third force is also going to pronounce itself to such issues because we believe in stability and harmony together as a people. I may not like your ideology or agree with the way you do things, but I don’t haveto use hate speech for that. We are going to be preaching peace and speak strongly against hate speech.”

Recently, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission warned politicians against using hate speech saying it disturbs peace and personal security of citizens.

Infidelity Lands Harare Man In Boiling Water

A Harare man is fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit after he was allegedly scalded with boiling water by his wife over infidelity.

This is after he posted a picture of his girlfriend on his WhatsApp status.

The man’s wife, Nomatter Chipoyera, appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere, who remanded her in custody.

The court heard that on Saturday, at around 9pm, Chipoyera had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity issues.

He had posted a picture of his girlfriend on his WhatsApp status.

Chipoyera allegedly picked up a stone and hit her husband once on the left side of his head.

She was restrained by other tenants, from further attacking her husband, and they retired to bed.

It’s alleged that in the early hours of Sunday, at around 1am, Chipoyera poured hot water all over her husband’s body, while he was sleeping.

He sustained third degree burns.

The husband filed a police report in Budiriro and was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he is currently admitted in the ICU.

Ken Sharpe’s Aide, Tatiana Aleshina Is The ‘Masterminder’ Of My Persecution, Says Biti

By A Correspondent| Harare East legislator and top Harare lawyer Tendai Biti yesterday told Harare Regional Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti Guwuriro that controversial businessman Kenneth Raydon Sharpe’s aide Ms Tatiana Aleshina was the masterminder of his persecution while she enjoyed a ‘suspicious relationship’ with state prosecutors handling their matter.

Biti made the remarks while arguing that his constitutional rights were infringed after Guwuriro dismissed his application for referral of his case to the Constitutional Court.

“Your Worship i will lead my evidence and demonstrate how the complainant (Tatiana Aleshina) masterminded this malicious persecution against me that she has abused State institution against me in my case and other cases that I will go into greater detail.

Tatiana Aleshina (right) arriving at Harare Magistrates Court yesterday

“I will outline her involvements in a foreign company called Augur Investments which entered into agreement with the City of Harare in 2008.

“Your Worship the evidence that am going to lead is the power of the complainant in abusing Zimbabwe’s laws and her capacity to access high offices to get what she wants and extrication,” said Biti.

He further narrated how Aleshina has used her influence to the highest office in the country to get criminal immunity which she abuses to protect people around her including one Michael John Van Blerk.

“Van Blerk was prosecuted by Mr Michael Reza and the complainant wrote letters to the State saying why are you prosecuting us while we have an agreement, the letters are there Your Worship

“If someone is that powerful to stop such a case, what about my merely assault,” added Biti.

He added that Aleshina has been using the deed of settlement where she signed on behalf of Augur Investments to plead with the High Court against prosecution.

“I will present pleadings before the High Court of Zimbabwe which the complainant admits that she went to the highest office in Zimbabwe and extract a deed of settlement where she signed herself and on behalf of Aurgur Investments,” Biti said.

He also linked Aleshina with the controversial Pomona land deal which is at the centre of a legal dispute involving a company called Fairclot Investments and Augur Investments saying she went as far as going to the highest office to extract a deed of settlement to get criminal immunity.

“The complainant (Aleshina) was at the centre of the 654 Pomona Township which belongs to the Government of Zimbabwe, then litigants started and the arbitration awarded to Augur Investments and Augur did not honor that.

“The matter went for arbitration in the High Court of Zimbabwe in the matter of City of Harare vs Augur Investments and the matter was set aside by justice Muremba and the matter went on appeal and the complainant using her influence before the matter went in, the complainant went to the highest office in Zimbabwe and extracted a deed of settlement to get criminal immunity, here she’s a posing as a complainant,” said Biti.

Biti is facing allegations of manhandling Aleshina at the Magistrates’ Court.

Harare businessman George Katsimberis has previously labelled Aleshina a dark individual who openly admits to capturing state institutions.

“The aforesaid Tatiana Aleshina is a dark individual who has literally openly admitted in other proceedings to various forms of state capture,” said Katsimberis in another matter.

Zanu PF Purges Six (6) Chamisa Councillors

By- The Zanu PF government has suspended six opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors in Chitungwiza for allegedly convening an illegal meeting which re-instated former mayor Lovemore Maiko last week.

The government’s axe fell on Maiko, former deputy mayor and ward 19 councillor Musa Makweza, party chief whip Richard Chamutsa (ward 5), Peter Matiringe (ward 10), Kuda John (ward 21) and ward 14 councillor Chengetai Nyagondo.
The CCC councillors pushed for the holding of mayoral elections despite the resistance by acting mayor Kiven Mutimbanyoka.
In his letter to Maiko dated October 10, Moyo said: “You attended an illegal meeting in the council chambers after the official ordinary meeting which was being chaired by acting mayor had been adjourned,” he said.
“You went further to propose the chairmanship of John when you know that Mutimbanyoka was the chairman who had the authority to chair such a meeting,”
“You wilfully disobeyed the law by accepting the position of mayor when you were fully aware that there is an acting mayor and the procedure as outlined in the Urban Councils Act had not been followed.”

Sikhala Feels Abandoned By CCC- Analysts

The incarcerated CCC Vice Chairperson, Job Sikhala’s message expressing gratitude to a number of individuals and organisations leaving out Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has sparked debate.

There are speculated reports that Sikhala is feeling betrayed by the CCC leadership since his arrest in June this year.

Political analyst Methuseli Moyo said: “Clearly, the CCC leadership has not demonstrated any meaningful and sustained concern about Sikhala’s predicament. Their messages on Sikhala have been sporadic and individualised.”

Another political analyst Kudakwashe Munemo said: “The statement’s silence on CCC on the list of individuals and institutions offering solidarity to Sikhala may be loudly telling the party that it has to up its response to his arrest by providing strategic solidarity.”

Political analyst Eldred Masunungure weighed in saying the long incarceration may be taking a heavy toll on Sikhala.

“Their case is a classic example whereby the legal and the political merge seamlessly into each other. It then means if the legal route is blocked, perhaps it is time to forge a political path to resolving the impasse,” Masunungure said.

Sikhala’s lawyer and family spokesperson Freddy Masarirevu said there was nothing amiss about the statement.

“People will always interpret information anyhow; the unfortunate thing is I do not have control over the manner in which people can interpret things,” he said.

Sikhala is being charged alongside fellow MP Godfrey Sithole and 14 other Nyatsime residents after announcing a cultural family statement in honour of his deceased client and to discourage the ongoing violence. The state however claims he incited violence.- additional reporting Newsday

T Freddy Takes Ex-Lover To Court

By-Self proclaimed Preacher Tapiwa Freddy, popularly known as T-Freddy, was Tuesday back in court in the matter where he is accusing his ex-girlfriend of extortion.

Radio presenter Rutendo Makuti, Witness Bungu (Chief Chikwaka) and Gibson Jaji appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded the matter to November 7.
The trio told the court that they intended to file an application for referral to the Constitutional Court.
The court heard that in 2020, Freddy was in a love affair with Makuti.
During the course of their romance, Makuti allegedly threatened to expose their affair if Freddy did not meet her financial demands.
Chief Chikwaka allegedly accused Freddy of raping Makuti, and of sleeping with her before a year had lapsed, after the death of her husband.
The chief told him to pay something as a sacrifice.
Freddy promised to pay US$15 000 and three goats.
Jaji allegedly threatened to arrest Freddy, during one of his church services, while Chief Chikwaka said he would leak a video of the conversation they had, on social media.

Senior Priest Suspended Over Leaked Romantic Pictures

By-An Anglican Diocese of Harare priest has been suspended over romantic pictures with another woman.

Father Taurai Kachembere is married and has since been suspended over the circulating pictures.

Allegations are that he is now living with Thandeka Sithole, the woman he appears with, in the leaked pictures.

There are claims that the two even have a bouncing baby boy.

He is married to Simbisai Dongo Kachembere.
Their wedding took place on July 2, 2011, in Chinhoyi.
The church suspended him pending an investigation.
Sources within the church said this is not the first time the man of the cloth has been suspended over infidelity issues.
Bishop Farai Mutamiri said it was against the church’s policy to comment over pending issues.
“I am so sorry it is against our policy to discuss pending clergy/staff matters. Kind regards,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Father Kachembere reacted angrily.

July Moyo Axes Six (6) CCC Chitungwiza Councillors

By- Local government minister July Moyo has suspended six opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors in Chitungwiza for allegedly convening an illegal meeting which re-instated former mayor Lovemore Maiko last week.

Moyo’s axe fell on Maiko, former deputy mayor and ward 19 councillor Musa Makweza, party chief whip Richard Chamutsa (ward 5), Peter Matiringe (ward 10), Kuda John (ward 21) and ward 14 councillor Chengetai Nyagondo.
Moyo said the issue of the election of a substantive mayor was a pending issue before the High Court.

Man Hangs Self After Killing Wife

Police in Mashonaland East are investigating a case where a Mudzi man, Zvikomborero Simende (35) allegedly murdered his wife in cold blood over infidelity issues.

After the gruesome murder of his wife Janet Nyamutsenga (34), Simende allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a mango tree, about 20 metres from where he had killed his wife.

The two bodies were discovered by another villager, Simon Simeti.

The matter which occurred recently, was reported to the police, who attended the scene and observed that the wife had a deep cut on her neck, and an axe stained with blood was left nearby the deceased’s body.

“Simon Simeti reported the matter to the police at Suswe police base. It is alleged that Simende and his wife had a misunderstanding over infidelity. During investigations, the police observed that Janet Nyamutsenga was lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut on her neck.

“Zvikomborero Simende had blood stains on his shoulders and had no injuries. This prompted some suspicions that Simende hanged himself after murdering his wife. Investigations are in progress,” deputy police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere said.

Facts About Mental Health

New global WHO guidelines on mental health at work are reinforced by practical strategies outlined in a joint WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have called for concrete actions to address mental health concerns in the working population.

An estimated 12 billion workdays are lost annually due to depression and anxiety costing the global economy nearly US$ 1 trillion. Two new publications which aim to address this issue are published today – WHO Guidelines on mental health at work and a derivative WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO’s global guidelines on mental health at work recommend actions to tackle risks to mental health such as heavy workloads, negative behaviours, and other factors that create distress at work. For the first time WHO recommends manager training, to build their capacity to prevent stressful work environments and respond to workers in distress.

WHO’s World Mental Health Report, published in June 2022, showed that of one billion people living with a mental disorder in 2019, 15% of working-age adults experienced a mental disorder. Work amplifies wider societal issues that negatively affect mental health, including discrimination and inequality. Bullying and psychological violence (also known as “mobbing”) is a key complaint of workplace harassment that has a negative impact on mental health. Yet discussing or disclosing mental health remains a taboo in work settings globally.

Many companies offer corporate counselling.

The guidelines also recommend better ways to accommodate the needs of workers with mental health conditions, propose interventions that support their return to work and, for those with severe mental health conditions, provide interventions that facilitate entry into paid employment. Importantly, the guidelines call for interventions aimed at the protection of health, humanitarian, and emergency workers.

“It’s time to focus on the detrimental effect work can have on our mental health,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “The well-being of the individual is reason enough to act, but poor mental health can also have a debilitating impact on a person’s performance and productivity. These new guidelines can help prevent negative work situations and cultures and offer much-needed mental health protection and support for working people.”

A separate WHO/ILO policy brief explains the WHO guidelines in terms of practical strategies for governments, employers and workers, and their organizations, in the public and private sectors. The aim is to support the prevention of mental health risks, protect and promote mental health at work, and support those with mental health conditions, so they can participate and thrive in the world of work. Investment and leadership will be critical to the implementation of the strategies.

“As people spend a large proportion of their lives in work – a safe and healthy working environment is critical. We need to invest to build a culture of prevention around mental health at work, reshape the work environment to stop stigma and social exclusion, and ensure employees with mental health conditions feel protected and supported,” said, Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General.

The ILO Occupational Safety and Health Convention (No. 155) and Recommendation (No. 164) provides legal frameworks to protect the health and safety of workers. However, the WHO Mental Health Atlas found that only 35% of countries reported having national programmes for work-related mental health promotion and prevention.

COVID-19 triggered a 25% increase in general anxiety and depression worldwide, exposing how unprepared governments were for its impact on mental health, and revealing a chronic global shortage of mental health resources. In 2020, governments worldwide spent an average of just 2% of health budgets on mental health, with lower-middle income countries investing less than 1%.

Boss Fondles Employee In Toilet

A 29-year-old PC Royal Casino manager last week appeared in court on allegations of rap_ing a female employee in the company’s toilet after threatening her that she would lose her employment contract.

Aldo Tucia of number 562 Borrowdale Brooke, Harare, was facing rap_e charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Vongai Muchuchuti.

He was remanded out of custody.

The court heard that sometime in April, the complainant got an employment contract at PC Royal Casino in Greystone Park, Harare, where Tuci is the manager but during that time the operators of the company were not yet instituted as the company was not yet open.

As of such, the company was on the verge of making some final touches, preparing to fully operate the business.

The court heard that on June 30, Tuci invited the complainant to their workplace advising her to report there and not to advise anyone from their workplace or come with anyone.

Upon arrival, the complainant met Tuci who was in the company of his friends and he ordered her to prepare tea.

After the complainant visited the toilet and allegations are that Tuci followed her. When Tuci noticed that the complainant had noticed him, he eventually told her that he wanted to be intimate with her, upon which he got into the toilet and locked the door.

Tuci alleged that he wanted the s_3xual favour so that she would not lose her employment.

It is alleged that Tuci started f0ndling the complainant before rap_ing her.

A report was made leading Tuci’s arrest.

Madam Boss Evicts Pregnant Husband’s Lover

By-Comedienne and socialite, Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho and her husband are selling the “defiled” Seke house, H-Metro has established.

The house in question accommodates Evangelista Ngonidzashe Zhou, Madam Boss’ husband Ngoni’s pregnant girlfriend.

The selling of this house could leave the pregnant lover homeless.
Ngoni has, however, promised Evangelista alternative accommodation.
“Ndakutengesa stand iyoyo ndiite zvimwe totsvaga pamwe pekuti ugare panemvura,” reads part of messages sent by Ngoni to Evangelista.
In her reply, Evangelista urged Ngoni to be strong.
“But try to be strong Ngoni ndinoziva wakaremerwa, tese takaremerwa, but iwe ukadaro ndozoita sei?
“Munoita zvakakusunungukirai henyu matowana munhu wacho arikuida here?”
Evangelista vowed not to leave the Seke house and this could have forced Madam Boss and Ngoni to put it up for sale.
Sources close to Evangelista disclosed that one Seke resident informed Madam Boss about the former’s stay at the house, which led to the clash.
Reports claimed Madam Boss took her Mercedes Benz from Ngoni.
It has also been reported that Ngoni has also been staying with his parents since the clash last week, which exposed his shenanigans.
One of Ngoni’s sisters told H-Metro that Ngoni failed to swallow his pride.
“I hope Ngoni will come to his senses and swallow his pride and seek forgiveness.
“Madam Boss is loving and had been a family pillar of strength that we cannot allow the devil to wreck this marriage.
“Ngoni made a mistake of stooping low to bed Evangelista, overlooking Madam Boss’ family position, motherhood and international status.
“We will not tolerate Evangelista at all and that is why we wanted her to be evicted from the house.
“Ngoni failed us as a family.”
In a family meeting, Ngoni said Evangelista could pay rentals to the new house owner once they get one. H Metro

Mnangagwa Blocks Nurses From Going To The UK

By-The Zimbabwean government has reportedly stopped issuing clearance letters for nurses in a bid to frustrate them from leaving the country for greener pastures.

This follows mass resignations that have hit the country’s public hospitals as health professionals migrate abroad for better salaries and working conditions, NewsDay reported.

In March, the government doubled application fees for nurses’ confirmation letters and certificates from US$150 to US$300.

An email sent to a nurses’ union leader from the United Kingdom Nursing and Midwifery Council reads in part:

We have received notification that the Zimbabwe government has taken a decision to withhold issuing verification of qualification and character for its nurses who wish to join our register.

In response to this, we are currently exploring ways in which we support applicants including alternative options where possible and whether they will provide the same assurance as verification from the nursing council.

A health expert, who requested anonymity, told NewsDay that although nurses were prepared to pay for verification letters, the government had refused to clear them.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, health caregivers resigned en masse from public health institutions citing poor remuneration and risky working conditions.

Official figures show that last year alone Zimbabwe lost nearly 1 800 nurses, mainly to Britain. That’s more than 10% of all the nurses working in public hospitals.

Madam Boss Withdraws Her Benz From Cheating Husband

By-Comedienne and socialite, Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho has withdrawn her Mercedes Benz from her cheating husband.

This happened after her husband impregnated one Evangelista and accommodated her at their Seke Matrimonial house.

Before Madam Boss took her merc, she indicated she was selling the Seke house.

Her husband, however, promised Evangelista alternative accommodation.

“We will not tolerate Evangelista at all and that is why we wanted her to be evicted from the house.

In a family meeting, Ngoni said Evangelista could pay rentals to the new house owner once they get one.

Enock Mwepu Reveals Plans After Retirement

Enock Mwepu has revealed his next plan after being forced to retire from playing football at the age of 24 due to a high risk of ‘fatal cardiac arrest’.

The Zambian fell ill while on a flight to link up with his Chipolopolo teammates in the international break last month and spent a period in hospital in Mali. He returned to England to undergo further cardiac tests and has been advised to stop playing football.

In a statement published on Monday, Mwepu revealed that he is planning to remain in football in some capacity after cutting short his career.

“Some dreams, however, come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up by boots because of the medical advice I have received,” the statement read in part.

“This is not the end of my involvement in football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity.”

Brighton’s head of medicine and performance Adam Brett explained the player’s condition: “It is a terrible blow for Enock, but he has to put his health and his family first and this is the right choice, however difficult it is to quit the game he loves.

“Given this is Enock’s career and a decision which can’t be taken lightly, we have taken our time to be as thorough as possible, completed advanced cardiac investigations and collaborated with clinical experts to gain the best second opinions for Enock.

“We will be helping him make sure the condition is managed with the appropriate treatment for him to otherwise live a long and healthy life.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Kante Misses Chelsea, Milan Clash

N’Golo Kante will miss Tuesday’s Champions League group game against AC Milan after suffering a reaction to an existing hamstring injury.

The 31-year-old France international has not played since mid-August due to the hamstring issue.

He returned to training a week ago but suffered the reaction on Monday.

“N’Golo, we are just waiting — he has had a reaction in training so we are just waiting on the news from that,” said coach Graham Potter.

“It’s certainly not ideal and it’s disappointing for him and for us. We have to wait and see the extent of it and go from there.”

Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech will also be missing the Blues’ visit to the San Siro through illness.

Red Bull Salzburg currently lead Group E on five points, with Chelsea and Milan, who they beat 3-0 in the reverse fixture in second and third on four points.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Gvt Tells Teachers To Build Own Schools

By A Correspondent- Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Amon Murwira has challenged college graduates to be innovative and start to establish their own schools as the country is short of between 3 000 and 4 000 schools.

Murwira made the remarks while speaking during a graduation ceremony at the United College of Education (UCE). He said:

What we lacked was the framework under which our graduates can start schools and be facilitated to do so.

It’s normally a matter of policy direction and resources being poured towards that policy direction.

That’s where the discussion is, not whether we have enough jobs or not. We don’t have enough schools; we don’t have enough teachers and we don’t have enough people with the expertise that you have.

I told you about the deficit of schools. So why are we stuck? Why are we not building schools?

Who said we cannot build schools? Who said we should work for the Public Service Commission?

Section 75, Sub-section 2 of the constitution says you can be the founder of your own schools.

Anybody can start their own school but when you look at most of the private schools, except for the Mother Touch group of schools which was started by a student from Seke Teachers’ College, they belong to people that are not even trained in teaching.

We have to start forming groups of our students to start their own schools and we fund them so they start those institutions.

Why was it not possible? It was not possible because we did not have Education 5.0. Now we have changed the law so that it is now possible to do so.

We changed the National Planning and Development Act so that it can fund school start-ups.

We are starting to operationalise that we have said to every college that at the end, they must spend some time with a graduating class forming these consortiums so we can have, for example, the UCE group of schools or whatever other name you might want to call them. Let’s start with one or two examples next year.

LEAD President Statement On International Day Of The Girl Child

11 October 2022

We join the world to commemorate International Day of the girl child. This is a day to remember aise awareness about issues affecting the girl child and for us to work towards action-oriented plans to uplift young girls.

As Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) we have been advocating for the protection of the girl child in Zimbabwe primarily to be protected against child marriages, child labour, sexual abuse, harassment and any form of violence. We have had several legal cases which demanding the protection of the girl child in various religious sects that were subjecting girls to child marriages.

We are now working on bringing into the fold government to have girl friendly policies and generate
more opportunities for them to have their voices heard.

This year’s theme for the International Day of the Girl Child is “Our time is now—our rights, our future“. The focus is on the multitude of challenges put in front of girls’ path to reach their potential. In our situation in Zimbabwe challenges that girls face are worsened by our patriarchal dominant environment, misogyny and general
lack of respect for the girl child and women in this country. Girls struggle with issues related to their education, their physical and mental wellness, and leading a life without violence.

On the 3rd of October we launched a #MyStoryMyStrength program aimed to encourage the girl child to speak out. I started by telling my own life story so as to inspire the girl child facing difficulties that they are not alone, for them to overcome whatever they are facing they have to speak out and never to be limited by their situation. Girls should be involved by sharing human their stories, blogs and videos of girl changemakers,

It is important for parents and guardians to start changing the societal expectations of the girl child and start equipping her to be able to unleash the best version of herself without fear of being stereotyped. As a country, we need to collectively address the factors that are holding girls back and urge government and policymakers to make more targeted investments.

LEAD continues to inspire the girl child to be influencers and the face of change. The reality is a lot of girls are still oppressed and it is everyone’s responsibility to observe and uphold the the rights of girl child. International Day of the Girl Child calls for people to become that voice of change and empower them. There are deeply-rooted gender biases that have created problematic mindsets leading to challenges faced by girls every step of the way to attain their potential.

International Day of the Girl Child aims to raise awareness about these issues and work towards an action-oriented plan to uplift young girls. Empowered girls are the future of a great and progressive society.

We are committed to empowering the girl child, young women and women at large to become women of valour who know their rights and are ready to LEAD the change wherever they are. As we celebrate the international day of the girl child today we are making a clarion call to all the young ladies who need mentorship to reach out to us as we aspire to build a new generation of woke girls and women.

Happy International Day of the Girl Child!

ZBC Presenter Rutendo Makuti In Bid To Stop Extortion Trial

By A Correspondent| ZBC presenter Rutendo Makuti has approached the Constitutional Court to stop trial in a case in which she is accused of extorting Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder Prophet T Freddy.

Makuti together with her accomplices Chief Chikwaka and former police officer Jaji stands accused of extorting popular Goodness and Mercy Ministries leader Prophet Tapiwa Freddy.

On Tuesday, Makuti’s defense asked the Harare Magistrates courts to issue a warrant of arrest against T Freddy.

The popular prophet who was at the court premises, later cancelled the warrant of arrest.

Makuti’s defence team has gone a step further to approach the constitutional court seeking to block the trial which will now be heard on November 7.

Legal experts have however indicated that those were desperate attempts to stop the case from going to trial.

“That’s a desperate attempt to stop trial. If there is no case they are supposed to go for a trial,” he said.

Makuti was arrested last year for extorting T Freddy before reporting him for rape.

The prophet was cleared by the courts after a much publicised trial.

Chinese Company Opens Mine in Gold-Rich Odzi Area

By A Correspondent| Chinese miner Ming Chang Sino Africa has commenced operations at its new gold mine in Manicaland’s Odzi area about 30km outside Mutare after pumping in millions in United States dollars to procure new equipment.

The company partnered locals to extract gold on the lucrative deposits where 60 have been employed since commencement of operations in May.

Mine director Liu Xialong said the company has 16 claims and it is currently working on one of them.

“Indications are that these are very good deposits and the mine life is quite long. We are prepared to invest millions on this project, but I can’t give you the specific numbers at this stage, ” Xialong said.

The mine hopes to employ an additional 60 permanent workers in the stage 2 of the project.

The long term plan will be to increase local employment numbers to at least 100 which will take the total staff compliment to a minimum of 300 workers.

Investments in Manicaland’s Odzi area has recorded heavy losses amid reports that workers were siphoning fuel from excavators, trucks and storage tanks at the site.

The Chinese owned company reported the matter to local police leading to investigations which unearthed a well elaborate scheme that management said could have cost the company 10 000litres of diesel since operations started.

At least three employees resigned earlier in September during police investigations while others simply ran away when they got wind that the net was fast closing in on them.

Xiaolong told this publication that the culprits drained diesel from excavators, trucks and two on-site fuel storage tanks whose combined capacity is 50 000 litres.

“Over 1000 litres was stolen every month and this puts us to at least 6 000 litres and maybe it can even reach 10 000 ” Xialong said during a tour of the mine.

“It took an internal audit which looked at the traditional use of fuel using similar new trucks for the same kind of work. We looked at log books and found serious discrepancies. For example, excavators which used to be 25l per hour on peak have now reached 40l per hour.

“At the same time, our average fuel consumption per hour is plus or minus 20l yet it has shot to at least 25l per hour. We investigated and caught some workers draining fuel which is then sold to small-scale gold miners in the area, Police investigations confirmed that fuel was being stolen and action was taken.

After disciplinary proceedings and tightening of internal controls, consumption for the excavators had slid significantly to between 16 and 18 litres per hour.

“Some suspects remain on the mine because we could not catch everyone involved or prove allegations but the new system is working, ” he said.

Set Us Free From Central Govt Interference, Mafume Begs

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has demanded autonomy of local authorities saying there is need to be set free from central government interference.

Addressing delegates during a discussion to raise funds for the Matobo and Insiza by-elections by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC Mthwakazi) at the weekend, Mafume said there was need to create zones of autonomy for local authorities.

“The problem we have with the Local Government ministry is the level of pettiness and level of wanting to direct things at local authorities. They use money without consulting us, and enter into agreements on behalf of Harare City Council,” Mafume said.

“They have taken the power stations, they don’t pay royalties. They took roads and vehicle licensing, but we don’t have royalties, they took many other functions that were supposed to be ours, but they haven’t done well on us. It’s a very bad relationship.

“What we need is to restore executive powers, restore devolution and allow the local people to determine their destiny like water. We need greater autonomy for our cities to make decisions, to be able to function properly in a modern society.”

Mafume accused the Local Government ministry of being petty and vindictive, thereby making it difficult for local authorities to properly function.

“The role of devolution should be to remove the supervisory role of the ministry, and probably make it a co-ordination role whereby we can co-ordinate areas of mutual convergence and are strictly governed by the law, and areas where there is need of compliance with the whole nation. We should get somewhere regardless of the fact that we are not in full control of the State.”

Mafume also bemoaned the collapse of the 2009-13 government of national unity (GNU) which he said contributed to national development.

“Had it continued for some time while these other old nationalist guys retired, we could have created a generational consensus which would have allowed the country to be on a better footing. Unfortunately it was all erased when the GNU collapsed and we went back to propaganda politics trying to run a country through sloganeering, which has led us into the mess we are in now,” he said.

Contacted for comment, Local Government minister July Moyo said there was nothing called total autonomy.

“In our jurisdiction, there is nothing called complete autonomy. That is why the Constitution is very clear that we have three tiers of government and they (local authorities) are the third tier; which means in a lot of things they have to report to government,” Moyo said.

Dispute Over Price Of Honda Fit Escalates Into Near Gun Shoot

A Bulawayo man pointed a gun at another following a dispute over the price of a Honda Fit fuel pump.

Police on Twitter, said Emmanuel Charuka (30) was arrested last Wednesday.

“The ZRP warns firearm holders against abusing firearms to settle scores. On 05/10/22, Police in Bulawayo arrested Emmanuel Charuka (30) for pointing a firearm. The suspect pointed a 9mm pistol at Maxwell Tshabalala (39) at a car parts shop in Kelvin Northgu after disagreeing on the price of a Honda Fit fuel pump. The Police have since recovered the 9mm pistol registered in the suspect’s name,” posted the police.

A firearm amnesty was issued between August 8 and September 30 and Police said 538 firearms and 260 rounds of ammunition had been surrendered across the country.

Thereafter police said a search of premises will be conducted where suspected illegal firearms are being kept. Those found with unlicensed firearms will be prosecuted.

The amnesty was granted in terms of Article 12 of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Protocol on the control of firearms, ammunition and related materials.

The primary objective of the Sadc Protocol is to prevent, combat and eradicate the illicit manufacturing of firearms, ammunition and other related materials.

It also seeks to regulate the import and export of legal small arms and thus curb the transit of these weapons into and within the region.

Police said they suspect some members of the public are still in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

This has led to the abuse of firearms in the country in clear violation of the provisions of the Firearms Act.

Checks and records, the police said, have revealed that some companies have closed yet their representatives are still holding onto firearms while hunters and individuals are no longer in the same position that they were when they applied for firearm licenses.

Zanu PF Mash East Province Burning

Discord has rocked the Zanu PF party in Mashonaland East province, with reports of divisions in the provincial executive.

This paper is reliably informed that some top party officials have accused the provincial leadership of heavy-handedness and making wrong decisions on crucial matters.

Provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe recently told a provincial co-ordinating committee in Marondera that he is aware of a plot to oust him.

“Let me take this opportunity to tell you that I am aware of the plots against me. I hear that some are mulling to sign a petition against me, but that will not work. I will not stop executing my duties and campaigning for President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Garwe said.

At the same meeting, party official Jerry Gotora told the gathering that Garwe was voted into power and could only be removed by the same process.

“Chairman (Garwe), you should not be worried about that (petition). You were voted into power by us, and you can leave that position through the same process. You are the chairman continue with your work,” Gotora said.

In the past few months, Garwe announced the suspension of two district co-ordinating committee DCC chairpersons, Alfred Pedzisa (Chikomba) and Israel Maliki (Murewa), accusing them of incompetence and insubordination.

Maliki, who has since been replaced by Murewa DCC secretary for education Wellington Kademeteme is yet to appear before a disciplinary hearing.

Provincial disciplinary committee chairperson Kudzai Majuru yesterday confirmed the suspension of Maliki but could not divulge more details.

“I confirm that he was suspended and is set to appear before a disciplinary hearing,” Majuru said.

Pedzisa was suspended at an inter-district meeting held at Sadza Growth Point before being replaced by Transport minister and Chikomba Central legislator Felix Mhona.

Mhona is also the provincial secretary for administration.

Pedzisa has since appeared before a disciplinary hearing and is waiting for the verdict.

The sacking of Maliki and Pedzisa has brought discomfort within party members with reports that more DCC chairpersons are set to be suspended.

Urgent Attention Should Be Paid To Electoral Reforms: Welshman Ncube

Urgent attention should be paid to electoral reforms on voter registration, transparency of the voter’s roll, and the right of political parties to freely campaign, Professor Welshman Ncube has said.

Prof Ncube, a senior leader in the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), said Zimbabwe should put its attention on these pressing problems, as only a few months are left until dates for the 2023 national elections are set.

His remarks follow the CCC’s unveiling of the Pre-Election Pact on Electoral Reforms (PREPARE), which calls for electoral reforms before next year’s elections.

“As provided in the constitution, voter registration must be continuously accessible to people. This thing of saying that outside the outreach programme, you can only register at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) offices like in Bulawayo is wholly unacceptable. It means people have no effective access to voter registration,” he said, lamenting the lack of transparency in the entire electoral process.

Prof Ncube noted that despite talk on the delimitation of constituencies, the process was still not implemented.

“So far it has been opaque. There’s been no transparency, time is running out and the things that should be done publicly have not been done,” lamented the law expert.

He cited how the media coverage was still unfair despite the constitution and Electoral Act having adequate law for both private and public media to fairly cover elections.

“We know the state media is far off the legal imperatives of what it should be doing,” said Prof Ncube.

The constitutional law expert bemoaned how the security apparatus, particularly the police, exhibited questionable behaviour yet the law specified how their conduct should be.

“The law is never followed,” said Prof Ncube.

“The role of the police must be neutral and keep the peace but it’s not happening”

The CCC leader claimed there was widespread abuse of legislation that requires police to be notified of meetings.

“Police have been insisting over the years that the obligation to notify them is in fact a different obligation altogether, that it is an obligation to apply for their permission, not the law. All of these things need to be attended to,” he said.

The CCC leader also decried how the law was inadequate when it came to the counting and transmission of election results, particularly for the presidential election as opposed to the local and parliamentary elections.

“People ought to see results that came from polling stations, see the collation of results at a particular ward, constituency, province in real life so that there is no contestation over the actual result,” he said, bemoaning how Zimbabwe continuously moved from cycle to cycle of disputed elections.

“The moment you have disputed elections you will have legitimacy issues. If ever you are a government where the majority of people don’t believe it is there by virtue of their sovereign right or that they put that government there, that government will never have the moral and political authority to lead effectively. Hence you continue to have the characteristics of a failed state, a failed economy, politics and a failed everything.”

Prof Ncube cautioned that if some of these issues are not resolved ahead of the 2023 elections, Zimbabwe would have “a palpably unfair and unfree election.”

“No one will be convinced about the outcome and resultantly the government is never going to be able to change the fortune of the country,” he said.

“So it is important for all parties to recognise that it might be late but there is an urgent need for genuine sincere dialogue over some of these issues. It is important to talk about these things, time is of the essence.”

The CCC leader acknowledged the ruling Zanu-PF party would always be reluctant to engage in genuine electoral reforms “because they have never been a democratic party.”

“They have never accepted the sovereign right of people to select a government of their choice. They believe that by virtue of their participation in the liberation struggle, people have obligation to vote for them but people don’t vote for them,” he said, noting how Zanu-PF resorted to violence against people as retribution for rejecting them.

“This is why you saw the signs all over the country, the construction of no-go areas in the rural areas. They believe that they own the electorate and no one else other than them should have access and those who exercise their sovereignty then get visited by violence in order.”

Prof Ncube emphasised that resorting to violence, threats and withdrawal of government services in order to coerce people to hold a particular political opinion or vote in a certain way was undemocratic.

“As CCC, we must continue to prepare and overwhelm Zanu-PF in an election, notwithstanding the absence of electoral reforms and machinations they will engage in order to defeat the sovereign right of people to elect a government of their choice,” he said.

Job Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole Defiant On Prison Experience

Incarcerated Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators Job Sikhala (Zengeza West) and Godfrey Sithole (Chitungwiza North) yesterday said the tough conditions at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison had strengthened their resolve to fight for a better Zimbabwe.

The two legislators and 14 party supporters have clocked three months in remand prison after being denied bail five times by the courts. They face a charge of inciting violence in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, following the brutal murder of fellow party activist, Moreblessing Ali.

In a statement through their lawyer Freddy Masarirevu, the legislators said their ordeal in remand prison was a reflection of the pain that Zimbabweans were going through under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime. They claimed that their detention was politically motivated.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, we feel your inner pain because of what we are currently going through behind these dark walls of Chikurubi Maximum Prison,” the legislators said in a statement.

“We cannot hide the fact that we have suffered for the past four months. As humans, there is a certain amount of pain and suffering we can endure.

“A lot has happened during our incarceration which we strongly feel is unjustified, and most importantly, unlawful as it violates the fundamental pillars of constitutionalism and the rule of law. We cannot express enough of our resentment and indignation at the manner in which our cases have been handled.

“We remain resolute. We reiterate that we did not commit any crime. We are here because of our will and commitment to a better Zimbabwe. We continue to appreciate the work our legal team is doing. They have our full support.”

Govt Frustrates ‘Restless’ Nurses Intending To Leave Zim For Greener Pastures

Government has reportedly stopped issuing clearance letters for nurses in a bid to frustrate them from leaving the country for greener pastures.

This follows mass resignations that have hit the country’s public hospitals as health professionals migrate abroad for better salaries and working conditions.

In March, government doubled application fees for nurses’ confirmation letters and certificates from US$150 to US$300.

Official figures show that last year alone Zimbabwe lost nearly 1 800 nurses, mainly to Britain. That’s more than 10% of all the nurses working in public hospitals.

An email sent to a nurses’ union leader from the United Kingdom Nursing and Midwifery Council seen by NewsDay, revealed that the government was blocking nurses wishing to travel abroad.

“We have received notification that the Zimbabwe government has taken a decision to withhold issuing verification of qualification and character for its nurses who wish to join our register,” the letter read.

“In response to this, we are currently exploring ways in which we support applicants including alternative options where possible and whether they will provide the same assurance as verification from the nursing council.”

Health ministry spokesperson Donald Mujiri directed questions to Health Service Board chairperson Paulinus Sikhosana, who said he was not the right person to comment on the issue.

“My department doesn’t deal with that issue.  You can call the ministry secretary,” Sikhosana also said.

A health expert, who requested anonymity, said although nurses were prepared to pay for verification letters, government had refused to budge.

“A lot of nurses have paid for their verification letters, but nothing is happening, they are not being approved. Government is continuously taking people’s money but not approving the qualifications. We are urgently asking the government to answer all this. We need dialogue,” the nurse said.

“This is a very serious issue where the Ministry of Health risks international isolation. The email was sent by the UK government and this will cascade to other European countries and this is not good. Verification of qualifications is supposed to be done by the Nurses’ Council but the current administration changed it. It said it wanted to approve, which is, therefore, not its duty according to an Act of Parliament. So it is violating the law.”

ZACC Arrests Mining Director For Abuse Of Office

Mashonaland West acting provincial mining director Sibongile Mpindiwa has been arrested for allegedly unlawfully forfeiting mining claims, changing ownership and then handing them over to other people.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission crack team swooped on Mpindiwa yesterday and she is expected to appear at Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court today facing four counts of criminal abuse of office.

ZACC spokesperson Commissioner John Makamure last night confirmed the arrest of Mpindiwa, who was being held in police custody at Chinhoyi Police station.

It is alleged that on February 22 2019, Mpindiwa, being the acting provincial mining director for Mashonaland West, issued a mining certificate to Frank Siyankuni for Ruvengo 13A and 13B on Stockdale Farm Chegutu.

The mining claims belong to Dallaglio Private Limited which was issued a mining certificate for the same mining area in 2005 and this certificate was never cancelled.

According to the charge sheet, Mpindiwa allegedly contravened the Mines and Minerals Act, which deals with the registration of mining blocks and requires that all due procedures must be followed before rejecting claims or signing certificates.

In addition to this, Mpindiwa allegedly acted contrary what was expected of a provincial mining director whose duties include supervising support staff at provincial level, overseeing ministry policies, and co-ordinating and maintaining best practices in the province.

Her actions were in apparent show of favour to Siyankuni and disfavour to Dallaglio Private Limited, said ZACC.

On the second count, it is alleged that on June 5 2019, Mpindiwa forfeited Victory 286 Bright Mine Syndicate of Verbluden of Dunphaile Farm registration number 41092 which belonged to Correct Dube.

The following year, on September 25 2020, Mpindiwa revoked the same mine from forfeiture and issued it back to Correct Dube. By so doing, Mpindiwa allegedly acted contrary to her duty by showing favour to Correct Dube at the expense of Micah Mashiri and other individuals on the waiting list.

Her actions were allegedly in breach of the Mines and Minerals Act which clearly states that revocation of such mines should be done within 21 days from date of forfeiture. In the case in question, revocation was done after 15 months, according to ZACC.

On the third count it is being alleged that in February 2021, Mpindiwa issued someone identified only as Kwaramba with a prospecting licence to mine at Strathmore Farm which is located in Banket.

The farm is allegedly reserved for the mining promotion corporation, a Government exploration company under EPO 07/2019 but the blocks for Kwaramba are situated right under that exclusive prospecting order.

In this case, Mpindiwa again acted illegally. According to ZACC, she should have rejected the application for a

prospecting license since the area in question was under EPO 07/2019.

On the last count, Mpindiwa is alleged to have revoked Zurich Mine’s registration number 268 and 269 under revocation invoice number 063213B on June 4 2021. Zurich Mine had been issued its certificates on September 11 2006 and these were forfeited in September 2011.

Mpindiwa allegedly revoked Zurich Mine’s two registrations 10 years later after Zurich had forfeited the mine. She is being accused of acting contrary to her duty by showing favour to Hardwork Berah, who received the new licences, and disfavour to Athanas Ranjeni and other applicants on the waiting list.

By so doing she contravened the Mines and Mineral Act which requires that such revocation can only be done within 21 days from the date of forfeiture.

Commuter Carrying 19 High School Pupils Overturns, Three Hospitalised

19 Drake High School pupils cheated death after a commuter omnibus they were travelling in overturned and landed on its roof, leaving three pupils hospitalised.

Three pupils sustained serious injuries and are admitted to Kwekwe General Hospital.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the accident which happened last Thursday along Zisco Road.

“Martin Tofa (23) was driving a Toyota Hiace towards Redcliff CBD with 19 pupils from Drake Secondary School. Upon reaching Zisco Plant where there is a steep uphill, the vehicle rolled back and hit the edge of the road with its rear fender before overturning and landing on its roof,” he said.

As a result, the pupils sustained varying injuries and three of them are admitted to Kwekwe General Hospital. Police appealed to members of the public to adhere to all road traffic regulations and exercise caution when driving.

In another incident, a Zhombe man died after being attacked by a machete wielding gang that pounced on a gold milling centre in Zhombe.

According to police, on Sunday at around 0100hours at a milling centre near Zhombe East Business Centre, a four-member gang armed with machetes, axes and iron bars, pounced on a gold milling plant.

They attacked people demanding cash and other valuables.

“The now deceased Mr Emmanuel Ushe (58) was in the company of his two sons aged 14 and nine at a hammer mill waiting for their ore to be processed when the assailants pounced on them demanding cash,” said police.

Mr Ushe was attacked by the assailants and left lying in a pool of blood.

He later died from the wounds.

The men also force-marched the two children to a nearby homestead where they forcibly opened doors and assaulted everyone using an axe and iron bars demanding cash.

“They were given an undisclosed amount of cash before they ransacked the house and took cellphones before disappearing into the darkness,” said Inspector Mahoko.

Police are appealing for anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact any nearest police station.

CCC, Zanu PF Youths Fight For Vending Stalls In Mbare

Violent clashes between marauding Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) and Zanu-PF youths at the weekend left a trail of destruction at vending sites near Mupedzanhamo Complex, one of the busiest areas in Mbare, Harare.

The groups were fighting for control of the area where they charge and collect US$5 from each vendor.

Police confirmed the arrest of 13 people over the skirmishes.

The battles, the latest having started Saturday, have left many of the vendors fearing a gloomy year ahead as Zimbabwe gears for crunch 2023 general elections.

The usually overpopulated area was unrecognisable by its silence and emptiness, the few people who were visible were either peeping from mounds of rubble and broken tables or carefully passing by to avoid a beating by anti-riot police officers out in full force.

With little to no business since Saturday, one second hand shoes vendor said they now feared hunger could stalk them if the battles do not cease.

“This situation might persist up till after the 2023 elections, what this means is that we are going to go for the greater part of the next year battling to survive,” said the vendor who could not share his name.

“All I know is that youths from the CCC and Zanu-PF are fighting, but do not have the details as to why they are doing so.”

Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP), though the area seemed peaceful when the NewZimbabwe.com crew arrived, was accused of indiscriminately beating residents of Harare’s oldest suburb whenever these incidences erupted.

File Image: anti-riot police were called in to stop the clashes

“Their fights have, however, resulted in victims that have nothing to do with them as the police do not choose or ask when they descend on Mbare to stop the violence, they beat everyone,” said one vendor.

“The police just invade our stalls and start beating us. I am getting used to this, I am now used to being beaten by the police whenever the clashes start.

“I have a dislocated finger after l was hit with a baton stick on my forehead and have had a headache since Saturday. One of the officers stomped on my stomach with his boot and was beaten all over my body using their baton sticks.”

Two trucks full of anti-riot officers were strategically parked at corner Remembrance Drive and Roden Street. Another blocked traffic from accessing Mbare flats at the intersection of Remembrance Drive and Cripps Road.

Police barricaded the road with broken tables and stones which had been used during the running battles, while others patrolled the area.

Vendors have ‘historically’ but ‘illegally’ been charged between US$3 and US$5 per day for use of stalls (tables) by both Zanu-PF and CCC and the battle for control of the space in question seems to have reached a crescendo.

They have resulted in the permanent closure of Mupedzanhamo Flea Market, a popular spot for second hand clothes and shoes, as none between the two allows the other to take control of it, besides being council property.

Council has failed over past years to effect order and reclaim its property.

“The youths are fighting for vending stalls (tables) littered around the Mupedzanhamo and within the flats,” said another.

“These battles started when CCC youths set up tables around the Zanu-PF district offices near Block 1, the Zanu-PF youths then demanded that they be pulled down but that was resisted.

“Zanu-PF youths then began to target vending stalls from which CCC youths were collecting US$3 per day. They burnt them overnight and started these battles which have stopped all business here.”

Though Mbare remains an opposition stronghold, Zanu-PF has been equally powerful in determining who gets what, where in relation to space.

The concert is dubbed Makhadzi & Jah Prayzah Live in Kadoma.

Interestingly, Makhadzi and Jah Prayzah collaborated on the track Makokovha off the SA star’s Muya Wanga album which was released in 2020.

Music lovers who wish to attend the show will have to part with US$15 and US$30 for the standard and VIP tickets, respectively.

The Murahu hitmaker has already confirmed the concert through a video drop that has since gone viral on several digital platforms.

“Hello everyone, this is Makhadzi, please catch me live at Kadoma, Odyssey Hotel in Zimbabwe, October 22, I am coming,” she said.

Monica Mutsvangwa Urges Media To Give Equal Coverage To All Parties: Is She For Real?

Media houses should provide equal coverage to all political parties in line with the Second Republic’s mantra of leaving no one behind, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa has said.

Addressing multi-stakeholders including political parties and media personnel from various media organisations during a Media and Elections Reporting Workshop here in Kadoma this morning, Minister Mutsvangwa said the media had a paramount duty of disseminating information to the public.

She said the Government’s policy is for the media, particularly state media to communicate information regardless of political affiliation adding that a media blackout on political parties is an editor’s decision.

The media was challenged to communicate information that was not divisive but that which promotes peace and tolerance.

Citizens for Coalition Change (CCC) secretary general, Mr Charlton Hwende implored the media to report fairly.

In his remarks, Zanu-PF’s Information and Publicity Secretary, Christopher Mutsvangwa said the revolutionary party was advocating for peaceful polls during the 2023 harmonised elections.

MDC Alliance’s Paulina Mupariwa requested for a media that would report freely and professionally.

The workshop organised by Zimbabwe Institute is open to political parties that have representatives in parliament.

Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka and Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister, Kindness Paradza are also in attendance.

ZESN Endorses By-Elections Where Zanu PF Thrashed CCC

Elections watchdog, Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN), has endorsed the recently held by-elections in Mberengwa and Nyanga as credible.

The verdict flies in the face of main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) claims that the outcome was not a reflection of the people’s will due to violence and intimidation.

Over the weekend, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) conducted by elections in Mberengwa and Nyanga to fill the vacant seats.

Opposition party, CCC fared dismally as they were walloped in the two elections by Zanu-PF.

In the aftermath of the rural district elections, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere rang alarm bells over the plebiscites, alleging violence and intimidation of voters in the build up to polling day.

“We’ve consistently said that each by-election is a dry run for 2023. We’re keenly aware of the assisted voting, political violence, banning of CCC meetings and voter intimidation that took place in Mberengwa and Nyanga. Zanu-PF will never win a free and fair election in Zimbabwe.

“We’ve begun our post-mortem review of these elections to examine how to sharpen our response to electoral manipulation in these areas. We have a model of how to win rural elections that has worked in places like Binga and Bulilima which we are scaling across the country

“As we work on the heavy lifting to ensure a big win in 2023, we continue to push hard for electoral reforms as we strengthen our mass mobilisation programme. We must register to vote, turn out to vote in our millions and defend the vote so we win Zimbabwe for change in 2023,” said Fazayi Mahere in a series of twitter posts.

The opposition has on numerous occasions accused ruling party of manipulating election results in its favour.

Recently the party launched a blueprint titled Pre-Election Pact on Electoral Reforms (PREPARE) which contains electoral reforms demands ahead of 2023 elections.

However, ZESN ruled the Mberengwa and Nyanga by elections as free and fair without any irregularities, casting doubts on the claims by CCC.

“Campaigns for the by-elections were mostly political rallies, door-to-door as well as the distribution of flyers and posters. There were no incidents of violence or intimidation that were reported in both wards.

“The polling day political environment was generally peaceful with no instances of political tensions and violence being reported.

“Both Zanu-PF and CCC deployed party agents to track the polling process at all the polling stations ZESN observed and visited by the roving team.

“ZESN commends the two political parties for the comprehensive deployment of party agents to monitor the voting process on polling day. This affords them an opportunity for first hand observation of the process, enabling them to authoritatively comment on all processes,” said ZESN in a statement.

Govt Says Gold Coins Have Mopped Up ZWL$10 Billion From Parallel Market

Government says gold coins introduced in July this year have mopped up close to $10 billion from the parallel market.

This comes as President Emmerson Mnangagwa claimed that Zimbabweans have an appetite for gold coins, hence government will introduce smaller coins next month.

“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has sold over 10 000 gold coins for about US$15 million. This means Zimbabweans have an appetite for gold coins and to save. Our target is to release US$30 million worth of coins.

“By mid-November this year, the RBZ should be in a position to unveil smaller denominations of gold coins, whose value will range from a tenth, a quarter, to half of an ounce,” Mnangagwa said in his weekly column in the State media.

Analysts, however, say the introduction of smaller gold coins will not assist the country’s economy to grow as government needs to support the ailing productive sector more to achieve economic growth.

Analyst Effie Ncube said while gold coins might temporarily slow down inflation and reduce pressure on the exchange rate, they would not address the economic crisis in the country.

“The introduction of smaller denominations of gold coins is not going to address the economic crisis in the country. There is need for more holistic and comprehensive measures to turn around the ailing economy,” Ncube said.

Finance ministry spokesperson Clive Mpambela said the gold coins were effective in stabilising the exchange market.

“The gold coins were effective in the sense that they removed about $9,7 billion from the market which probably would have ended up chasing foreign currency. The small coins will be half an ounce or a quarter of an ounce,” Mphambela said.

“The impact of removing $10 billion is equivalent to removing close to $100 billion of purchasing power which would otherwise be chasing foreign exchange. That $10 billion is equivalent to between $70 billion and $100 billion on a velocity basis. Indeed, the gold coins have contributed a lot to the stabilisation of the exchange rate.

“If you think about the circulation of $10 billion in the economy, it has a multiplying effect. The gold coins, therefore, immunised or sterilised that money. That, therefore, stabilised the exchange rate in addition to other initiatives by the government including the value for money initiative,” he added.

Economist Persistence Gwanyanya said in the face of increased instability, gold coins were a viable alternative to restore the value of local currency.

“The timing of the issuance of these smaller denominations is important as it coincides with increased local currency liquidity from bonus payments. This will address the concern that the product was designed for the elite,” Gwanyanya said.

Another economist Busisa Moyo said: “Zimbabwe is an underrated leader in this transformational change. Gold provides an alternative store of value to reserve currencies such as the United States dollar which have been volatile of late.”

Mnangagwa’s government took an unprecedented step of introducing gold coins as legal tender after inflation spiked from 191% in June to 257% in July this year.

The Friday clashes were sparked by alleged space barons who wanted to take over the running of Mupedzanhamo in Mbare.

One of the space barons collapsed and died at a city hospital from injuries sustained when he was hit on the head with a wooden stick in the skirmishes.

LaptopGate Probe Fails On Quorum

An investigation by the Public Accounts Committee (Pac) into the controversial awarding of a laptops and desktop computers tender to companies that overcharged Parliament was yesterday postponed due to lack of quorum by Members of Parliament.

Yesterday’s meeting was supposed to grill members of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe for alleged breach of procurement processes by the committee.

“We were supposed to hear from the Ministry of Finance as well as suppliers of those tenders, unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances we were hoping that members of the committee would be around, but we have decided that we may have to postpone this hearing to next Monday so that the members will all be here,” Pac acting chairperson Edwin Mushoriwa said.

Pac is investigating a case where Parliament authorised a tender for the supply of 173 laptops valued at US$9 200 each, but were deemed over-priced by the Finance ministry.

Leaked official documents show that Blinart Investments P/L won the tender to supply Parliament with 173 laptops for US$1 602 755, 77, translating to US$9 200 per gadget. Another company, Mid-End Computers and Hardware, won a tender to supply 79 desktop computers to Parliament, pricing its gadgets at above US$3 000 for a single machine.

The controversial tender was cancelled by Parliament after a public outcry over the flawed tender process. -Newsday

Sikhala Judge Loses Car Battle

State Media – High Court Judge Erica Ndewere last week had her appeal against the High Court decision ordering her to surrender her operational vehicle flopped after the matter was struck off the roll.
The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) wanted to seize Ndewere’s service vehicle after she was fired from the bench for gross incompetence.

High Court judge Justice Samuel Deme had ordered Ndewere to surrender the vehicle to the Sheriff for safety until her application contesting her dismissal from the bench was concluded.

Deme also directed the Sheriff to seize the Mercedes Benz vehicle if Ndewere refuses to voluntarily surrender it.

The JSC had sought a High Court authority to repossess the vehicle following her dismissal.

But Ndewere appealed against Deme’s ruling at the Supreme Court, but a three judge-panel of Justices Antonio Guvava, Nicholas Mathonsi and Felistus Chatukuta unanimously agreed to have the appeal struck off the roll.

In her court papers, Ndewere argued that she was entitled to purchase the vehicle in terms of her employment contract.

Ndewere argued that her colleagues who were allocated vehicles on the same day with her have been allowed to purchase their cars.

Ndewere was removed from the bench by President Mnangagwa on June 17 2021 over misconduct allegations.

She, however, had retained possession of the Mercedes Benz E300 registration number ADY 474, which is registered in the name of the Master of the High Court, a former department of the JSC.

Her request to purchase the Land Rover was granted on April 9, 2021. But the JSC demanded the return of the Mercedes Benz on April 19 2022, and Ndewere allegedly refused to do so.

Ndewere insisted that she was entitled to purchase the vehicle, arguing that the JSC was not the owner of the vehicle, but the office of the President.

She also argued that the request by the JSC was done unlawfully. Herald

Zanu PF Problems Intensify

DISCORD has rocked the Zanu PF party in Mashonaland East province, with reports of divisions in the provincial executive.

This paper is reliably informed that some top party officials have accused the provincial leadership of heavy-handedness and making wrong decisions on crucial matters.

Provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe, on Thursday, told a provincial co-ordinating committee in Marondera that he is aware of a plot to oust him.

Madhuku: We Will Stop Zanu PF From Winning Polls

By A Correspondent| National Constitutional Assembly leader party Lovemore Madhuku said his party was working to ensure that Zanu-PF did not win in the upcoming election.

In an interview with a local daily, Madhuku said his party had put in place strategies to ensure Zanu PF does not win next year’s elections.

“We have put in place so many strategies to ensure that we achieve that. But obviously, we will not disclose our strategies,” Madhuku said.

This followed claims by the ruling party that it was being infiltrated by opposition members.

“You also have those who have been disqualified because there (was) additional information to the point that  probably they are not in good standing in terms of their activities and some who might not really (be) moving with us, who might probably be Zanu-PF during day and opposition during the night. So, there are cases like that where you need experts to assist us to make a better assessment,” Bimha said at a Press conference on Friday ahead of the party’s central committee elections that were held on Saturday.

Zanu PF Agents Bash Journalist

Zimbabwean journalist Godwin Mangudya was yesterday allegedly assaulted by members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and ruling Zanu PF activists in the Harare’s Kuwadzana suburb, while covering the party’s Central Committee elections.

Mangudya alerted MISA Zimbabwe that he was assaulted by members of the ruling party and CIO despite formally identifying himself and producing his duly constitutionally-accredited Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) press card.

In a statement, The Zimbabwe chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa said he was detained for more than an hour, while the Zanu PF activists continuously agitated to further assault him.

MISA Zimbabwe said CIO agents and Zanu PF security personnel confiscated his mobile phones and reset the gadgets leading to the journalist losing both his personal and work-related information.

The previous day, Mangudya, was among the journalists who attended a press briefing at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare, addressed by both the party’s spokesperson, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, and political commissar, Mike Bimha.

ZANU PF invited members of the media to cover its activities country-wide.

Meanwhile, during the entire ordeal, Mangudya requested the CIO and party activists to reach out to the party’s spokesperson and commissar for them to confirm that journalists had indeed been invited to cover the activities of the party, but that was all in vain.

“MISA Zimbabwe notes with very great concern the continued perpetration of violence against journalists by political party activists, security personnel, and members of the national security. This violence against journalists undertaking their constitutional mandate is an assault on the supreme law of the land as provided for under Section 61 of the Constitution which protects media freedom. Sadly, these unpunished crimes against journalists, come at a time when the entire world is commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists.

“We, therefore, call the on the police to conduct thorough investigations and hold the perpetrators accountable. As MISA Zimbabwe, we are now very worried by this upsurge in the number of criminal attacks against journalists as Zimbabwe moves towards its elections next year. The role of journalists in covering political parties’ activities is to allow the public to access reliable information and make informed decisions and choices.”

MISA Zimbabwe urged all stakeholders to unite and speak with one voice in calling for an end to “these criminal acts against journalists and ensure that media workers are protected to perform their constitutionally guaranteed duties without fear and risk to their personal security.

Journalism is Not a Crime!”- VOA

AC Milan Bury Juventus

AC Milan beat Juventus 2-0 in a Serie A Matchday 9 encounter played at San Siro on Saturday.

After a cagey start, Milan came close to open the scoring in the 20th minute after Rafael Leao’s ball hit the post.

The Portuguese forward struck the goal frame again ten minutes later, this time thumping the base of the right-hand upright with a crashing drive from 20 yards.

The hosts finally got the lead through Fikayo Tomori’s volley on the stroke of half-time.

Despite retaining a bigger share of possession, Juve never showed real intention to recover after the break and conceded another goal in the 54th minute when Brahim Díaz slotted the ball into the bottom-right corner.

AC Milan continued to control the game with Theo Hernández almost adding another one in the 67th minute but sent his effort over.

The visitors got a chance to to grab a late consolation when Moise Kean’s long range effort was tipped over by goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarasanu.

The match ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts who moved to third place with twenty points, level with leaders Napoli, who have a game in hand.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

CCC change champion Richard Pamire has embarked on a massive voter registration campaign in Kuwadzana East, Harare.

We want to make sure that all young people in Kuwadzana East Constituency are involved in electoral processes,” said Pamire.

Big numbers cannot be rigged, victory is certain.

International Day of the Girl-Child | IThemba For Girls Trust

Statement: IThemba For Girls Trust joins the world in commemorating The International Day of the Girl-Child with the theme “Our time is now-our rights, our future”. The day was established to highlight injustices and challenges that girls continue to face throughout the world. The vulnerability of girls continues to increase as their safe space is shrinking with a rise in sexual abuse, in schools, homes, churches and anywhere in the communities.

In Zimbabwe, the vulnerability of girls has been increasing ever since the Covid-19 lockdown. Many parts of Zimbabwe especially in the rural communities have experienced increasing cases of Child Marriages, Teenage Pregnancies and girls dropping out of school. Those who continue going to school experience “Period Poverty”. Some of the factors that promote such is the increasing poverty at household level due to continued economic problems in the country. Informal mining activities in the rural communities have contributed immensely to teenage pregnancies and some religious sectors promote child marriages. Household poverty reduces access to clean sanitary pads and as a survival strategy they either use unhygienic methods to control the flow (which might have long terms effects on their health) or they stay at home during menstruation days (which negatively affects their academic attainment). Teenage pregnancies pose a health risk to the young bodies that are not mature enough to deliver safely. With our poor health delivery systems and some religious sectors that do not

allow members to seek for medical attention, reports of girls dying at childbirth have been increasing which is worrisome as very little response is coming from the government.

As our theme this year says “Our time is now-our rights, our future” it is clear the future of girls lies in the completion of their education. Therefore, they should receive enough support for them to complete their education. Which means Girls Rights have to be respected through Ending Child Marriages, implementing The New Education Act which allows pregnant girls to continue attending school and girls accessing sanitary pads, Menstrual Health Management (MHM) and Hygiene Education that will help dignify their menstruation.

We would like to appeal to the government to put in place measures that are going to increase the security and protection of girls. Religious Sectors that promote child marriages should be banned and perpetrators brought to book. Communities should proactively create safe environments for girls. The government introduced a policy for Free Sanitary Pads in schools and even budgets for such, but the disbursement policy is not clear. Up to now we do not know which schools qualify for such help, when and how it’s done. But what we know is that girls remain faced with “Period Poverty” and in dire need of assistance.

It is only through promoting the education for girls that we can end Child Marriages and promote community development that is likely to reduce generational poverty.

Madam Boss Auctions Seke House, Leaves Hubby’s Girlfriend Homeless

H Metro

Zanu PF Top Officials In Trouble For Admiring Chamisa

By-Zanu PF has announced that it disqualified some of its senior party members from partaking in the just-ended Central Committee elections on the allegations that they had links with the opposition CCC.

These reports come amid power struggles and disgruntlement among senior party officials ahead of the elective congress later this month.

Zanu PF political commissar Mike Bimha said the party had roped in “experts” to assess the loyalty of its members suspected to be working with the opposition.

Speaking at a Press conference on Friday ahead of the party’s central committee elections that were held on Saturday, Bimha said:

You also have those who have been disqualified because there (was) additional information to the point that probably they are not in good standing in terms of their activities and some who might not really (be) moving with us, who might probably be Zanu PF during day and opposition during the night. So, there are cases like that where you need experts to assist us to make a better assessment.

In an interview with NewsDay, Bimha said disqualifying suspected disloyal members was one of the measures that had been put in place by the party to deal with the problem of infiltration but he would not disclose the names of those fingered.

He said Zanu PF was not worried by the G40 cabal but by the opposition parties in the country.

Political analyst Eldred Masunungure said the alleged infiltration was a confirmation of the fissures within the ruling party. Masunungure said:

Disloyalty among the ruling Zanu PF members has been rumoured for a long time since 2018 in the aftermath of the coup that ousted (the late former President Robert) Mugabe.

This points to the general disgruntlement of the party members against Mnangagwa’s leadership. It could be a reincarnation of another Bhora Musango.

Masunungure added that the opposition parties are not good at counter-infiltration. He is also of the view that infiltration could be orchestrated by the G40 working together with CCC just to destabilise Zanu PF.

18 Escape Death In SA-Zim Bound Bus Inferno

By-Eighteen (18) passengers were lucky to be alive Monday morning after a Harare-bound BM Transport bus they were traveling on caught fire on the outskirts of Masvingo city.

All the passengers and the crew managed to escape from the bus unharmed but various goods were destroyed.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by unknown flammable substances.

By the time the fire brigade and police arrived at the scene of the incident, the bus had already been reduced to a shell.

However, the bus crew and the passengers retrieved some of the goods from the boot of the bus and also removed the trailer.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Masvingo Province Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said the cause of the fire had not been established. He said:

The cause of the fire is still unknown but we suspect there were some flammable substances in the bus that might have triggered the fire.

Investigations are ongoing and we are still to establish the value of goods burnt in the fire.

The incident happened around 2.30 am when the bus that was carrying 18 passengers and driven by Mr Samkwazi Mabhawa from South Africa to Harare caught fire.

The bus was reduced to a shell by the fire but no one was injured. All the passengers and crew escaped unhurt.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but we suspect there were some flammable substances in the bus that might have triggered the fire.

Investigations are ongoing and we are still to establish the value of goods burnt in the fire.

Insp Dhewa said some passengers noticed smoke coming from the back seat where some goods were stashed.

They alerted the driver who stopped the bus but by that time the fire was spreading. | The Herald

Diego Costa Tears Into Conte

Diego Costa has taken a swipe at his former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, blaming the Italian for his exit from Stamford Bridge.

Costa spent three successful years at the Blues, scoring 59 goals through 120 appearances while helping team to two Premier League titles and a League Cup triumph.

In the summer of 2017, the striker was informed by text that his services were no longer required.

The 34-year-old is still disappointed at how his first stint in England came to a close.

“I’ve never had a problem with the fans,” said Costa.

“My problem was not with the crowd, it was with that coach.

“I left on bad terms with that manager, I left a champion for the second time, and he didn’t count on me.

“That was nothing I could do. I had to leave. Today showed that I did not leave on bad terms with the fans.

“It’s very special. It’s the feeling that in the time that you spent here, you did good work and left good memories.

“Chelsea fans always treated me very well. I was always surprised by the way they treated me. It’s satisfying.”

Meanwhile, Costa made his first start for Wolves but was largely ineffective as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat by Graham Potter’s Chelsea.

Despite the performance , Costa received a standing ovation as he walked around the pitch after being taken off in the second half.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
