DeMbare Eye Third Consecutive Win

Dynamos coach Tonderai ‘Stanza’ Ndiraya says his charges will be looking for nothing short of victory when they take on ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.

After a somewhat slow start to the season, the Harare giants have won two consecutive matches for the first time this campaign after getting the better of Bulawayo Chiefs (2-0) and Tenax (3-1).

Ndiraya says they want a third win in a row, especially because they will be at home.

“We are playing at home, so we are gunning for a third win on the trot. If we do that, I think we will be in good space,” he told the media yesterday.

“Its difficult to get three wins on the trot, very difficult in our league but that is our next challenge, we want to do that, and even go further than that,” added Ndiraya.

DeMbare welcomed back to train right back Emmanuel Jalai, who missed last week’s victory over Tenax due to a groin problem.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Key Facts About Obesity

World Obesity Day 2022 – Accelerating action to stop obesity

4 March 2022 News

release Reading time: 1 min (360 words)

More than 1 billion people worldwide are obese – 650 million adults, 340 million adolescents and 39 million children. This number is still increasing. WHO estimates that by 2025, approximately 167 million people – adults and children – will become less healthy because they are overweight or obese.

On the occasion of World Obesity Day 2022, WHO is urging countries to do more to reverse this predictable and preventable health crisis.

Obesity is a disease impacting most body systems. It affects the heart, liver, kidneys, joints, and reproductive system. It leads to a range of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke, various forms of cancer, as well as mental health issues. People with obesity are also three times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19.

The key to preventing obesity is to act early, ideally even before a baby is conceived. Good nutrition in pregnancy, followed by exclusive breastfeeding until the age of 6 months and continued breastfeeding until 2 years and beyond, is best for all infants and young children.

At the same time, countries need to work together to create a better food environment so that everyone can access and afford a healthy diet. Effective steps include restricting the marketing to children of food and drinks high in fats, sugar and salt, taxing sugary drinks, and providing better access to affordable, healthy food. Cities and towns need to make space for safe walking, cycling, and recreation, and schools need to help households teach children healthy habits from early on.

WHO is responding to the global obesity crisis on many fronts. This includes monitoring global trends and prevalence, the development of a broad range of guidance addressing the prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity, and providing implementation support and guidance for countries.

Following a request from Member States, the WHO secretariat is developing an acceleration action plan to stop obesity, tackle the epidemic in high burden countries and catalyse global action. The plan will be discussed at the 76 World Health Assembly to be held in May 2022.

Community Service For Breaking 8y Old Niece’s Ribs

Total Miscarriage of Justice or Magisterial Incompetence.

By Dr Masimba Mavaza

In a bizarre miscarriage of justice a woman Letwin Masawi bashed her twelve year old niece breaking her two ribs, dislocating her shoulder before sending her out of the house at 12 midnight.

The child, who lives with her, limped with swollen face, swollen legs and bruised hands. Doctors at Makumbe Mission described the horrific injuries as permanent.

The injured child was staying with Letwin Masawi who is a wife to her father’s brother Givemore Jorodhani of Matope village Domboshava.

Jorodhani is a soldier and has been threatening the Matope villagers into silence about the ongoing abuse of the child.

For her cruelty on the child, Letwin Masawi was only sentenced to 150 hours of community service.

The case came to light when the fearless Catholic Priest, father Fidelis Mukonori reported the matter to the police. The villagers were scared of the uncle who threatened to shoot anyone who will talk to the police.

“All the villagers were scared of the Uncle because he threatened all of them because he is a soldier. He is also in good books with the police so they were scared to report the case.

This incident happened less than a kilometer from the police station. All the neighbors confirmed it and explained the abuse in detail.

One of the neighbours helped the girl to escape but did not want his name released for the fear of the soldier uncle.

Talking to this writer, the teacher and owner of the school where the little girl was attending also confirmed abuse of the child. “The child came hungry every day .. and came with fresh wounds everyday; they even approached a social welfare worker. The school had to prepare food for the kid because she never brought food with her at school.

“The malnourished child now walks bent one side as the ribs which were broken still cause pain.

Speaking after the court ruling, a lady who gave witness on condition of anonymity said, “Child was abused by her uncle’s wife …She narrates that she was beaten every day with an electric wire and from the open wounds and marks on her body this was true. When found she was wounded all over her body and her clothes were blood stained. Upon arrival at the clinic, the x-ray confirmed 3 broken ribs and a cracked shoulder. The child was admitted and the case was taken to the police, only for the magistrate to give this abuser 150 hours of community service.“

The prosecuting attorney Chikiwa in court number 5 could not be reached for comment. The magistrate’s name had not been established at the time of publication.

This case has since caused a serious community outcry. Father Fidelis Mukonori has promised to take the case up to the minister of Justice and the acting Prosecutor General.

Another Damning Report Exposes Tagwirei’s Corrupt Dealings With Zim Govt

SAKUNDA Holdings, linked to businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, redeemed Treasury Bills (TBs) it held under the US$1 billion Command Agriculture programme at a favourable exchange rate approved by the central bank, while 67% funds of the facility were not recovered by 2018.

The explosive revelations are carried in a forthcoming investigative report, first made available by The Sentry to the Zimbabwe Independent.

The report titled Legal Tender? The role of Sakunda and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) in Command Agriculture casts light on how Sakunda was cherry picked to run the multi-billion-dollar programme outside public tendering regulations.

The report questions the selection process of over 30 input suppliers by the entity and how it redeemed TBs running into millions of United States (US) dollars with approval from the RBZ at a preferential exchange rate allegedly in violation of the country’s laws.

The Sentry is an investigative and policy organisation that seeks to disable multinational predatory networks that benefit from violent conflict, repression, and kleptocracy.

The opaqueness surrounding Command Agriculture has been a subject of intense scrutiny by the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (Pac) and Auditor General Mildred Chiri, who pointed out in her 2018 report that the programme was replete with gross irregularities.

As pointed out in The Sentry report, Sakunda was issued with TBs amounting to US$1 billion outside United States dollar (USD) cash payments received during the period that the company rolled out Command Agriculture between 2016 and 2019.

In 2019, the time Sakunda converted some of its TBs at a favourable exchange rate, Zimbabwe had introduced Statutory Instrument (SI) 33, which pegged the exchange rate at US$1:RTGS$1.

However, while other USD denominated accounts were converted to the equivalent value of local currency, Sakunda and Landela Investments, as revealed by the report, cashed in on the TBs at a favourable rate approved by RBZ, thereby making extra cash in the process.

In one such transaction involving US$336 million Treasury Bill (TB), the report highlights Sakunda transferred “part” of it to Landela, which proceeded to buy state-owned gold mines and a 50% stake held by the government in platinum mining concern Great Dyke Investments (GDI).

The report reads: “Part of the US$366 million Treasury Bill that Sakunda received in January 2019 was transferred to another company”, Landela Investments.

“The Treasury Bill was converted into local currency at a favourable rate by the RBZ, giving Landela the equivalent of US$50 million that was then used to purchase gold and platinum mines owned by the government and military.

“According to Sakunda, the January 2019 US$366 million Treasury Bill (ZTB 365 20190109B) was split: “US$256 million went to a specific bank” and US$100 million relating to the same instrument …went to a different bank”.

However, Sakunda, in its responses to The Sentry seen by the Independent, denies any wrongdoing relating to receiving preferential treatment from RBZ and contributing to the local currency losing value.

Sakunda also denied any association with Landela Investments.“As we have stated, Sakunda and Landela, called by whatever name, are not related, and we, therefore, refrain from commenting on matters to which we are not privy,” Sakunda Holdings company secretary Maurice Makoni said.

Sakunda told The Sentry that although an open tendering method was not used by the government in 2016, it was appointed as part of a competitive process, having put forward the most attractive proposal.

The company noted that it was appointed in terms of a “Cabinet Authority”, which according to the company is the overriding instrument in terms of the country’s public procurement protocols.

“In June 2019, Landela Investments asked its bank to transfer a US$60 million portion of the same Treasury Bill (ZTB 365 20190109B) to the RBZ, in turn requesting that the RBZ pay local Zimbabwean dollars…for the purchase of mining companies, buses and fertiliser. It is unclear how the Treasury Bill was transferred from Sakunda to Landela,” the report reads.

In two separate letters written on June 6, 2019, Landela director Chris Fourie requested from the BancABC Clients Relationship manager to transfer Treasury Bills worth US$21 million and US$39 720 685,59 to an RBZ Central Securities Depository (CSD) Account.

This publication saw Fourie’s letters.Prior to that, Fourie on June 4, 2019 had written two letters to RBZ governor John Mangudya, firstly requesting the apex bank to liquidate Treasury Bills worth US$39 720 685,59 at an exchange rate of US$1:RTGS$5,5135 which was the prevailing interbank rate to facilitate payments of RTGS$219 million to GDI and Chemplex.

In the another letter to Mangudya, Fourie additionally requested the conversion of Treasury Bills worth US$21 million at that day’s interbank rate of US$1: RTGS$5,5135 to process a payment of RTGS$115 783 500,00 for the purchase of Bindura Nickel Mine (BNC), buses and fertiliser.

Essentially, The Sentry report states that the transaction was “problematic” for two reasons being:  the “…companies were using Treasury Bills intended as security for Command Agriculture for other purposes including buying mining companies held by the government”.

RBZ also appeared to have given “Sakunda and Landela a preferential rate when converting the US dollar denominated Treasury Bill into local Zimbabwean currency.”

Responding on whether Sakunda received preferential treatment from RBZ, Makoni wrote to The Sentry: “This allegation is simply false, and part of a coordinated character assassination intended to discredit our organisation, of which your organisation is a knowing participant.

There was never a time Sakunda was favoured with preferential treatment by the RBZ.“It must be noted that (SI) 33 of February 2019 did not summarily convert corporate USD balances to the Zimbabwe dollar at the rate of 1:1.

“The net effect of SI 33 was that the government assumed all proven external legacy debts by quarantining them into blocked funds, and they came to an amount in excess of US$3 billion on the basis of 1:1 principle,” Sakunda said in its responses.

“Since then, local companies chose different instruments and structures to liquidate their blocked funds using financial institutions of their choice at USD auction rate of the day.

This was neither exclusive nor a favour to Sakunda but a government position which benefited more than 600 companies.

“These funds were traded as United States dollars at the ruling exchange rate of the day. I refer you to the Finance Bill HB 16, 2021, as ratified by parliament, seeking to rationalise this framework,” Sakunda said.

However, The Sentry insists that the conversion of all assets and liabilities valued in US dollars into the local currency at an equivalent rate of 1:1 as stipulated by the legal instrument was not applied to Sakunda.

“However, as revealed by the organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), this change did not affect Tagwirei’s January 2019 U$366 million Treasury Bill. Portions of the Treasury Bill were redeemed at a favourable rate by the RBZ after SI33 came into force on February 22, 2019,” the Sentryreport reads.

Mangudya told the Independent this week that it was in the purview of the Treasury to decide how TBs are redeemed.

“Treasury Bills are the prerogative of the government through the Ministry of Finance who are the issuers. The Reserve Bank does not therefore issue Treasury Bills and bonds but provides custody of government securities through the Central Securities Depository (CSD) as the banker of the State,” Mangudya.

“The response to your enquiry is that the said Treasury Bill was handled in line with terms of the referenced Treasury Bill.”

A top Treasury source said the RBZ’s role in the conversion of TBs is that of an agent of government, through the Ministry of Finance.

The soon-to-be published report highlights that Command Agriculture was highly politicised while it became a feeding trough for the elite and politically connected.

The Sentry estimates that at least 67% of Command Agriculture expenditure was not recovered.

“Many farmers did not repay their loans. The IMF estimated that 35% defaulted, while the World Bank and the government of Zimbabwe estimated that, in 2018, two thirds of Command Agriculture expenditure was not recovered,” the report reads.

In the report, The Sentryproffered a range of recommendations to authorities, including financial institutions, “to conduct enhanced customer due diligence on transactions involving natural resources in Zimbabwe — especially when transactions involve the Tagwirei network”.

Justyna Gudzowska, Director of Illicit Finance Policy at The Sentry, told the Independent: “The central bank’s granting of a seemingly favourable exchange rate to an oil tycoon to pay a Zimbabwean military company for Zimbabwean-Russian platinum mine doesn’t pass the smell test.

It’s time for the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and police to investigate properly”.

In addition, Oliver Windridge, Senior Advisor at The Sentry, said: “The US$1 billion Command Agriculture programme was the product of a behind-closed-doors culture.

Part of the solution is to embrace open contracting — making all contracts and payments public.

Don’t You Dare Exhume Our Father, Mugabe’s Kids Warn Chief Zvimba

THE late former President Robert Mugabe’s family has warned traditional leaders to stop “playing with fire” by pushing for the exhumation of their father’s remains from his Zvimba rural home for reburial at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

The family through its lawyer Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara is challenging village head Tinos Manongovere’s push for the exhumation of the late statesman who died in 2019, two years after he was booted out of office in a coup.

Manongovere filed a complaint before Chief Zvimba’s traditional court last year saying Mugabe was “improperly” interred in a courtyard.

Manongovere’s request was upheld by the chief who then convicted First Lady Grace for contempt of court and ordered her to pay five cows and two goats to the traditional court.

Mugabe’s three children —  Bona, Bellarmine Chatunga and Robert Jnr — appealed the ruling at the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court. Magistrate Ruth Moyo, however, dismissed the appeal, saying the trio had no locus standi to file an appeal as they were not cited as respondents at the chief’s court

.Grace then launched an appeal, saying her children were entitled to appeal against their father’s reburial. In their High Court appeal, Mugabe’s children argued that the Chinhoyi magistrate misdirected herself at law.”

The magistrate ignored the locus standi of Bona and siblings in this matter. They are the only heirs as such. The appellants being sons and daughter of Mugabe had locus standi to approach the magistrate on a notice of appeal to set aside the determination by Manongovere,” Zhuwarara submitted.”

Only the heirs are authorised to act when it comes to the question of burial, burial rights or location. The appeal ought to be heard in the court aquo because it has to be determined whether Manongovere had authority to determine the burial issue.”

Section 26 of the Burial Act says it is criminal to interfere with a grave so it is important that Moyo deals with this matter because her court has jurisdiction. She has to rehear the matter and determine if the respondent was entitled to order the exhumation of Mugabe.

“According to the section, anyone who wilfully destroys or causes to be done any damage, defacement or disfigurement to any monument, vault, tombstone or grave whether within or without a cemetery shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding level five or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or both.

Mugabe died in Singapore in September 2019 while receiving treatment at a private hospital.

He was buried in the family courtyard at Kutama in Zvimba, his rural home after the family resisted attempts to have him interred at the national shrine in Harare.

City Of Harare, Pokugara Properties Have A Case To Answer, Says Court

By A Correspondent| City of Harare and exiled Kenneth Raydon Sharpe owned company Pokugara Properties will have to explain before the Court why they without a court order destroyed a Harare businessman’s show house.

This follows the Harare Magistrates Court dismissal of their application for exception of charges.

Pokugara and City of Harare stands accused of malicious damage to property after they connived and without a court order destroyed a show house built by a Harare developer George Katsimberis at the corner of Teviotdale and Whitwell Road in Borrowdale.

Pokugara’s staffers Michael John Van Blerk and Mandla Marlone Ndebele were also dealt a heavy blow by the same ruling as they were rooting to evade trial on the same charges of malicious damage to property.

Pokugara, Van Blerk and Ndebele’s lawyer Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara had argued that the charges are meant to embarrass them as the property in question was at the behest of the City of Harare.

Sharpe and his Managing Director Michael John Van Blerk

In dismissing the application, Magistrate Chakanyuka said the issues raised by the defense counsel are triable and ought to be ventilated in the form of a trial with the State leading evidence.

The State represented by prosecutor Zivanai Macharaga from the Special Anti-Corruption Unit alleges that sometime between July 2018 and October 2018, at lot 9 of 21 on consolidated number 19559 of 19828 on Harare Township corner Teviotdale and Whitwell in Borrowdale, Mandla Marlone Ndebele, Isiah Zvenyika Chawatama, Samuel Nyabezi, Lasten Taonezvi and Ken Sharpe who is still at large destroyed a show house constructed by Harare business George Katsimberis without a court order.

Trial was postponed due to the unavailability of lawyer Charles Kwaramba who is representing the City of Harare and its employees

Zanu PF Midlands Supremo In US$9 Million Tender Scandal

By- Local Government Public Works and National Housing Minister, July Moyo, has been implicated in a US$9 million water pumps tender scandal.

Moyo has been implicated in the corrupt awarding of the lucrative deal to his alleged crony, businessman Paul Kruger, to supply water pumps to the City of Harare.

The multi-million-dollar contract was awarded to Petricho Irrigation, which was represented by Paul Kruger in Zimbabwe, allegedly without going to tender.

Treasury released the funds for the deal at the height of Harare’s crippling water crisis in October 2020 after Moyo presented a paper in cabinet asking the government to intervene.

This resulted in a cabinet resolution instructing Treasury to urgently release US$9.3 million to procure critical equipment for repairing the Morton Jaffray Water Works plant, which had been shut down.

Mliswa argues that Moyo and Kruger need to be subjected to a forensic probe to establish the correctness of the information presented to the cabinet, the pricing of the pumps, as well as the latter’s professional competencies regarding the scope of works. Mliswa said in a letter to ZACC chairperson Loice Matanda-Moyo, dated March 15, 2022:

Over the past few months, it has come to my attention that the Minister of Local Government was involved in a massive corruption scandal involving the purchase of pumps at Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant.

Sometime in 2019, the minister hatched a plan to fleece public funds through a proxy company called Agrico. Minister Moyo personally appointed one Paul Kruger as a consultant on water, ostensibly to solve Harare’s perennial water shortages and Paul Kruger went on to recommend that the water shortages in Harare could be easily solved by buying new water pumps.

Mliswa further alleged that Minister Moyo went with this recommendation to the cabinet and presented an urgent motion urging the cabinet to

(i) grant Cabinet Authority for a special waiver so that the pumps could be bought without going through the normal tendering process.

(ii) endorse the urgent release of $9.3 million from Treasury for the purchase of the pumps based on Paul Kruger’s recommendations.

He claims Minister Moyo misled the Cabinet by arguing:

1). that the project was urgent and was supposed to be completed in two months.

2). it was necessary to purchase these pumps because there was a need to pump less polluted water from Lake Manyame, which would result in the reduction of aluminium sulphate usage by 25%, therefore, this would substantially reduce the water treatment chemicals bill.

However, Paul Kruger’s company only handed over the site last week (over 2 years since the money was released to his company).

Mliswa who argues that Kruger was in a clear conflict of interest where he acted as both the consultant and contractor, wants:

a). to know how Paul Kruger arrived at a figure of €9.3 million for the five (5) pumps when similar-sized pumps cost just around US$2 million.

b). ZACC to establish if the council was now using 25% less aluminium sulphate as purported in water treatment, whether the water treatment chemicals bill had been reduced, and if Harare’s water crisis was resolved.

ExQ, Nutty O Off The Hook As State Fails To Get Trial Underway

Harare magistrate, Shane Kubonera, yesterday removed popular musicians – Enock ‘Exq’ Munhenga and Carrington Simbarashe ‘Nutty O’ Chiwadzwa, from remand.

The State failed to get the trial underway for the umpteenth time.

The duo, represented by Oliver Marwa, sought to be removed from remand, following revelations the State had not managed to get hold of the documents that were relevant to the trial.

The duo was accused of producing fake Covid-19 certificates, on their arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, after a show in South Africa.

The State, represented by Ruvimbo Matyatya, advised the court it had not managed to get copies of the ‘fake’Covid-19 certificates.

She also told the court witnesses were not available to attend court yesterday.

Magistrate Kubonera subsequently removed the duo from remand and they will be summoned to court when the State has put its house in order.

Allegations are that on June 8, last year, the duo submitted fake Covid-19 certificates to airport officials, on their arrival, from South Africa.

The State alleged the questionable documents were used by the two to board a flight to Zimbabwe.

Minister, Police Boss Evade Jail Sentence, Pays Victims Of Police Brutality

A cabinet Minister and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga have evaded being incarcerated after they hastily paid more than ZWL300 000 as compensation to two victims of police brutality who had asked the High Court to imprison them for contempt of court after they failed to pay damages to the duo.

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe, Matanga and two police officers had been hauled before the High Court by two residents of Manicaland province, who filed two court applications on 3 March 2022 and on 4 March 2022 respectively, seeking orders to hold them to be in contempt of court and that they be sentenced to 60 days in prison for defaulting on paying judgment debts amounting to ZWL150 000 and ZWL151 191.

In the case of Unity Saunyama, a Rusape-based resident, Hon. Kazembe, Matanga and Constable Zwelibanzi Masuko, reneged on paying compensation to the 40 year-old man as damages suffered after he was mauled by a dog set upon him by a law enforcement agent.

In 2021, Rusape Magistrate Rufaro Mangwiro ordered Constable Masuko, Matanga and Hon. Kazembe to compensate Saunyama after he sued them for damages arising from injuries which he sustained from being attacked by a police dog, which was released by Constable Masuko.

During trial, Saunyama told Magistrate Mangwiro that Constable Masuko approached him at a beer hall in Rusape on 29 August 2019 and made an inquiry about his personal details to which Saunyama obliged. Constable Masuko proceeded to drag Saunyama out of the beerhall and thereafter made shocking allegations to the effect that the 40 year-old man was in possession of marijuana.

In response, Saunyama advised Constable Masuko to conduct a body search on him. However, instead of conducting a body search, Constable Masuko set his police dog on him and he sustained injuries which include two deep lacerations on his right ankle and a deep wound on his right
thigh as a result of several dog bites.

Afterwards, Constable Masuko then proceeded to drag Saunyama around the central business district as he wanted members of the public to see what police officers are capable of doing. During this act, some members of the public pleaded with Constable Masuko to take Saunyama to a hospital as he was badly injured and needed medical attention but these pleas were not entertained.

In the end, Magistrate Mangwiro ruled that Saunyama suffered undue harm and deserved to be paid RTGS$150 000 in compensation as a result of the negligence of Constable Masuko. Magistrate Mangwiro stated that Saunyama was justified to seek compensation from Constable Masuko, Matanga and Kazembe as he had been subjected to shock, discomfort, mental suffering, loss of life’s amenities and disability.

In the case of 18 year-old Ernest Jamela, Mutare Magistrate Lazarus Murendo on 25 November 2020 ordered Hon. Kazembe, Matanga and Jefinias Mazambani, a police officer to pay ZWL151 191 as damages for torture while in police custody.

Jamela was assaulted upon arrest and detention by Mazambani, who was infamously known as the “Lion of Judah” in the community for disproportionate use of brute force in a case where the victim, then a 15 year-old minor in 2019 and resident in Sakubva high-density suburb in Mutare, was assaulted on two consecutive days on 4 and 5 March 2019 during police investigations of theft of a mobile phone handset at his school.

Church Exposes Madam Boss’ Hubby Infidelity

By- Evangelister Zhou’s church has confirmed that she was impregnated by Madam Boss’ husband, Ngoni Munetsiwa.

The statement by the Church of Asaph reads: “Greetings all saints in the name of Jesus. From the Apostle’s office to clarify the news going around on social media.
“It’s a complicated issue involving our youth member (Church of Asaph Zimbabwe) namely Ngonidzashe Evangelister Zhou (Ndhlovu).
“The story is true according to the source our daughter attempted to use the esteemed office of the Apostle to sugar-coat her immoral secret affair and suicidal videos threats.
“The church stands with all principles of serving the community and Biblical values without fear or favour.
“We condemn all acts of immorality and support families as the law of God. We encourage the Church to pray in such times and remain standing. Our Apostle is sound and strong, sending love to all”
Eva phoned H-Metro yesterday begging for the story to be put to rest, saying it had negatively affected her affair with Madam boss’ husband.
She blamed her church pastor for disclosing the illicit affair, which she described as personal, and she just wanted to seek help.
“My life is now in danger because of the story,” said Eva.
“I strongly blame my father, Pastor Jairos Maphosa, for engaging the media on an issue, I was seeking advice from him since Ngoni had been turning a deaf ear.
“This was personal and H-Metro did not help me, but instead ruined my affair,” she said.
Pastor Maphosa reiterated that his reason for sharing Eva’s misery to the media was an attempt to save her life as she had turned suicidal.
“Being asked to abort for the second time, to conceal an affair, also puts her life and that of the baby in danger.
“Eva is blaming me for this and has been looking for sympathisers from church members.
“We do not promote immorality or wrecking of marriages and life is more important than being shamed one day for wrongdoing,” said Pastor Maphosa.
However, H-Metro knows Ngoni called Eva yesterday asking her to sue this newspaper and deny all the allegations about the affair. H Metro

Chamisa Masvingo Rally Blocked

By- Police in Masvingo have refused Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to have their rally set for Sunday at Mucheke Stadium, saying Zanu PF has booked the same venue.

The party’s Masvingo provincial leadership says it is not receiving fair treatment from the police who have refused to clear their proposed venues and urging them to find alternative dates to hold their rally different from that of Zanu PF’s.

This was revealed by party district chairperson, Martin Mureri who said the police have so far rejected two of their proposed venues. Mureri told NewZimbabwe.com:
I will meet with some of my colleagues and see if we can find other alternative venues soon because this rally has to be held on Sunday without fail.
Masvingo police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa claimed he wasn’t aware of these developments. Dhewa said:
Let me find out, I might not find the appropriate person to brief me now but the best you can do is check with me tomorrow.
CCC had initially planned to hold their rally at Mucheke Stadium B Arena, but the bid was rejected.
They reportedly went on to propose Mamutse Stadium, but they were told it had been booked by the ruling party, Zanu PF for a rally on the same day and time.

Another effort to use Pangolin ground which is about 2km away from Mamutse Stadium also hit a snag after the police said it was too close to Zanu PF’s intended venue for its Sunday rally and could trigger violent clashes.

Top Mnangagwa Ally In US$9 Million Corruption Scandal

CCC Gains Ground In Mwenezi

Yesterday fearless CCC VP Kore addresses Rutenga rally despite Zanu PF intimidating CCC supporters

As Mwenezi East CCC holds another rally today at Sarahuru business centre

17 March 2022

Wezhira Munya

Zanu PF members and unknown people in Mwenezi East intimidated Citizens Coalition for Change supporters. Due to fear , around 650 CCC supporters attended the rally.

There was also heavy police presence around Rutenga growth point the venue of the rally. This also cause fear among Mwenezi East CCC supporters.

Some Zanu PF members threatened to take away farms and plots from anyone who attended yesterday’s CCC rally. Mwenezi East constituency has many resettled farmers. In order to protect their land, CCC members failed to attend yesterday’s rally, said one source who refused to be named.

Teachers and other civil servants who wanted to attend the rally were also threatened. One teacher from Rutenga area said, “l wanted to attend the rally, but some people using a white twin cab without number plates came at our school and informed us never to attend CCC rally or risk being transferred or get fired.”

Due to fear of exposing CCC members who attended yesterday’s rally, the media team decided not to spread rally pictures and video. This was done to protect CCC supporters.

In 2002, 2008 and 2018, some houses of opposition supporters were burnt, some opposition supporters were killed, beaten and injured. These memories are still fresh in opposition supporters in Mwenezi East.

(However, on this article l have attached picture of VP Kore at Rutenga growth point with fearless CCC leaders)

Today, CCC has a rally at Sarahuru growth point in Mwenezi East. According to police rally clearance, the rally will start at 11am – 4pm.

In her rally address yesterday, VP Kore encouraged CCC members to vote for Mr Mandizvidza on 26th March 2022. She further encouraged people to be fearless in the face of Zanu PF intimidation. Hon Kore informed the audience, that President Chamisa has well defined economic policies that will change their lives for the best. Under Zanu PF led government prices of goods and services have increased. For example, bread, fuel, school fees, rents prices are beyond the reach of many who are earning poor salaries. However, under President Chamisa , workers will be paid in us$.

After yesterday’s intimidation in Mwenezi East, following are some of the recommendations:

  1. The entire CCC Masvingo youth, women and main wing leadership should be in Mwenezi East mobilizing and encouraging supporters in Mwenezi East to vote for CCC. Masvingo CCC provincial leaders under senator Marava’s administration should be in Mwenezi East. Zanu PF has deployed its top provincial leaders to work around the clock in Mwenezi East. Masvingo provincial leaders should emulate CCC National women assembly chair Mugidho, national members Ms Matara, Mrs Mandizvidza, provincial youth spokes Muswere , former Masvingo provincial chair Sitemere among others who are frequenting Mwenezi East campaigning.
  2. There is need for door to door campaigns. This will not expose CCC supporters. Rallies may expose CCC supporters to ruthless Zanu PF members.
  3. There is need for President Chamisa to hold Masvingo provincial mega rally in Mwenezi East. This will boast the confidence of supporters in Mwenezi East. It is my view that Masvingo Provincial rally should be held in areas where Zanu PF claims control. Opposition for the first time since 1980, won Rutenga council seat in 2018 after President Chamisa held his first rally at Rutenga business centre. Therefore, Mwenezi East can be won if President Chamisa holds mega rally in Rutenga. Zanu PF president Mnangagwa has held 2 rallies in Rutenga.
  4. If CCC supporters in Mwenezi are afraid to attend rallies because of fear of intimidation , it means they will be afraid to be election agents. Therefore, there is need to recruit CCC fearless election agents from Masvingo urban, Chiredzi urban, South Africa and other areas. This gives voters confidence that their votes will be protected. In 2018, Masvingo MDC Alliance failed to field election agents in some polling stations in Mwenezi East. This helped Zanu PF to rig elections.
  5. There is need for campaign vehicles. Mwenezi East is very big. Zanu PF has many vehicles being used in Mwenezi East during this campaign. CCC needs many car rallies in Mwenezi East, because people are afraid to attend rallies.
  6. Campaign posters, food for agents, fliers and other campaign materials. CCC Posters in Mwenezi East are being torn or removed by unknown people.
  7. There is need for secretary for rural mobilization hon Chidziva , national organising secretary hon Chibaya, deputy organising secretary Morgan Ncube, national youth leadership to come to Mwenezi East before by elections.

Mwonzora In Hot Soup Over $150 Million Grant

Douglas Mwonzora

The leader of MDC-T and MDC Alliance, Douglas Mwonzora faces fresh fissures over distribution of the $150 million grant recently released by Treasury to his party under the Political Parties (Finance) Act.

The MDC Alliance is a coalition of several fringe opposition parties, a vehicle set up to contest the 2018 elections

On Tuesday, Zanu Ndonga members protested at the MDC-T headquarters in Harare after being given a measly $1 500 as their share of the grant.

Zanu Ndonga youths accused Mwonzora of disregarding other alliance partners and abusing the funds.

But MDC-T chairperson Morgan Komichi yesterday dismissed the allegations, adding that the protesting youths were sponsored by “opponents”.

“We are in good relations with our alliance partners. It’s just a group of young people who are being stubborn. We strongly suspect that our opponents are the ones behind this; there is no crisis in the MDC. Tomorrow we will have an alliance meeting and all alliance parties will attend the meeting. So there is no chaos, these are just young people who need to be ignored,” he said.

Last year, Mwonzora was also accused of abusing $6 million allocated to the party under the Political Parties Finance Act. -Newsday

We delivered a yellow present to her. Oh she was so excited! Citizens at the centre,” said President Chamisa in a statement.

“It was a very cheerful and jovial moment with one of our senior citizens Gogo Chihera today in Glenview.

It was nothing much but just an ordinary visit and a suprise gift of couches to one of our strongest supporters, an elderly member of the cause of change.

May the Almighty God keep blessing her and many others like her,” CCC said yesterday.

Police Torture CCC Activist For Wearing Yellow

Madzibaba VeShanduko was arrested for wearing yellow regalia.

According to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), police accused the opposition activist of not dressing properly.

Madzibaba veshanduko was arrested at the corner of Nelson Mandela and Rezende street in Harare.

“Madzibaba ve Shanduko has been badly assaulted on his legs & back. One police officer is taking an issue with him for allegedly not dressing properly as he is wearing yellow regalia,” ZLHR said.

Understanding Abortion

Based on the latest scientific evidence, these consolidated guidelines bring together over 50 recommendations spanning clinical practice, health service delivery, and legal and policy interventions to support quality abortion care.

New recommendations to improve access to high quality, person-centred services
When abortion is carried out using a method recommended by WHO, appropriate to the duration of the pregnancy and assisted by someone with the necessary information or skills, it is a simple and extremely safe procedure.

Tragically, however, only around half of all abortions take place under such conditions, with unsafe abortions causing around 39 000 deaths every year and resulting in millions more women hospitalized with complications. Most of these deaths are concentrated in lower-income countries – with over 60% in Africa and 30% in Asia – and among those living in the most vulnerable situations.

The guideline includes recommendations on many simple primary care level interventions that improve the quality of abortion care provided to women and girls.

These include task sharing by a wider range of health workers; ensuring access to medical abortion pills, which mean more women can obtain safe abortion services, and making sure that accurate information on care is available to all those who need it.

For the first time, the guidelines also include recommendations for use where appropriate of telemedicine, which helped support access to abortion and family planning services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Removing unnecessary policy barriers facilitates safe abortion access
Alongside the clinical and service delivery recommendations, the guidelines recommend removing medically unnecessary policy barriers to safe abortion, such as criminalization, mandatory waiting times, the requirement that approval must be given by other people (e.g., partners or family members) or institutions, and limits on when during pregnancy an abortion can take place. Such barriers can lead to critical delays in accessing treatment and put women and girls at greater risk of unsafe abortion, stigmatization, and health complications, while increasing disruptions to education and their ability to work.

While most countries permit abortion under specified circumstances, about 20 countries provide no legal grounds for abortion. More than 3 in 4 countries have legal penalties for abortion, which can include lengthy prison sentences or heavy fines for people having or assisting with the procedure.

“It’s vital that an abortion is safe in medical terms,” said Dr Bela Ganatra, Head of WHO’s Prevention of Unsafe Abortion Unit. “But that’s not enough on its own. As with any other health services, abortion care needs to respect the decisions and needs of women and girls, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and without stigma or judgement. No one should be exposed to abuse or harms like being reported to the police or put in jail because they have sought or provided abortion care.”

Evidence shows that restricting access to abortions does not reduce the number of abortions that take place. In fact, restrictions are more likely to drive women and girls towards unsafe procedures. In countries where abortion is most restricted, only 1 in 4 abortions are safe, compared to nearly 9 in 10 in countries where the procedure is broadly legal.

“The evidence is clear – if you want to prevent unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions, you need to provide women and girls with a comprehensive package of sexuality education, accurate family planning information and services, and access to quality abortion care,” Dr Ganatra added.

Following the launch of the guidelines, WHO will support interested countries to implement these new guidelines and strengthen national policies and programmes related to contraception, family planning and abortion services, helping them provide the highest standard of care for women and girls.

Quality abortion care is care that is effective – delivered by health workers with the right skills, resources, and information; safe; accessible to all those that need it; timely, and respectful of women and girls’ needs and rights.

The WHO abortion care guideline updates the former edition, released in 2012, and consolidates existing and new recommendations. The digital version is available at https://srhr.org/abortioncare

CCC Targets Mwenezi East

14 March 2023

RURAL BY ELECTIONS WATCH

…from an eagle eye…

By TIMOTH MUSWERE

CCC bulldozes into Mwenezi east as By election campaign reaches its peak.

Mwenezians goes into ecstatic Song and Dance as a remarkable welcome for Change.

It was indeed an electric weekend on 12 and 14March as the National and Provincial Champions descended in Mwenezi east for hectic entertaining campaign program. National Women’s Champions leader Hon Mugidho, Ldr Matara and Ldr Rosiwitta Madzivire endured the hot conditions of Mwenezi all through the weekend. Provincial Champions Ldr Stemere,Mai Magomana,L Mapuranga,Mutubuki and T.Muswere amounted the offensive into vibe. The Mwenezi east CCC leadership and the contesting candidate Hon Mandizvidza were clear and no pushovers in the game as they directed through the pathways ,the hotspots and the mountains of the political ground of the constituency.

Fear out of intimidation by Zanu pf thugs ,some uniformed forces and some traditional leaders has always been the challenge in Mwenezi.

However from the observation people are ready for change and indeed show that they know whom can rescue them into Canaan ‘advocate Chamisa’. Around all townships and growth points reached wild ululation ,song and dance was the oder of the day as even war veterans and civil servants embraced the Yellow movement.

At Matibi Mission and shopping centre people went Into a wild cherry moment as drinkers left from their bars and residents joining the gear. The crowd could be heard shouting “Ngavapinde Hake Mukomana” as the vigil like moments went through the night within the curfew hours. Ward 2,3,4,5,13 and 18 were covered with many townships also engulfed by the Yellow Mwenezi wave namely Chimbudzi,Matibi,Murawi,Musaverima,Shazhaume,Sarahuru,Masvitsi,Mucheni among others.

Neshuro growth point stood to a halt as even hospital personal ,touts and general travellers took to their dancing shoes and some into the index finger waving in show of support.

The roadshow proceeded into the resettlement areas formerly used to be Zanu pf’s untouchable territory. However people showed that they now understand it better that Land is for Citizens and not Zanu pf hence no one should take it from them because of political affiliation.

One Zanu pf member a war veteran and businessman at Masvitsi shops threatened the CCC team from putting a poster at an electric pole claiming that it was his own property however he was resisted forthwith openly loud and clear. This instilled some villagers at the shops into dance without fear of victimization.

In Rutenga the atmosphere proved beyond reasonable doubt that they have done it before and they are going to finish it off again on 26march and 2023. However at all places reached, people cried out for regalia and for the president to come as they wished to see him live again in Mwenezi.

During the campaign travel tour to and from Mwenezi east the team also pulled a campaign trigger in Chivi South at Ngundu,Lundi,Chibi turn off to ganner support for Honourable Mhlolo who joined the show in Ngundu.

The stopovers were just so ecstatically powered by the loud far reaching PA system to the song of the moment,” Ngaapinde Hake” Mukomana. At Bhuka the urban vibe could be felt from mostly panners, makorokozas who boozed around Ldr Stemere car shouting that they wanted to see the People’s president Nelson Chamisa and also cried out for regalia.

Another Chamisa Rally Banned

Bulawayo Police Bust Car Smuggling Syndicate

By- POlice in Bulawayo have arrested three people in connection with a suspected vehicle smuggling racket.

The police arrested the three and recovered three luxury vehicles smuggled into Zimbabwe via Limpopo River.

The three suspects, one of them a South African, were arrested in Bulawayo by traffic police who were patrolling the city centre.

The recovered vehicles, a Toyota Hilux 2.4 GD6 RB and two latest ranges of Toyota Fortuner 2.8 GD-6 RB VX DSL, have South African number plates and are suspected to have been stolen from the neighbouring country.
The value of the three could not be ascertained.
In South Africa, a Toyota Hilux 2.4 GD6 RB costs slightly above R500 000 while the market price for a Fortuner 2.8 GD-6 RB VX DSL is about R800 000.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said they first arrested Nkosiyabo Mbambo (29) during a patrol in the city centre and he led them to his accomplices Nomathemba Ncube (40) and Karl Hebst (27), the South African.

“Our traffic officers were on patrol when they intercepted Nkosiyabo Mlambo while he was driving a Toyota Hilux GD6.
Upon checking the papers of the car, they became suspicious and subsequently contacted their superiors before they arrested him,” he said.
“Further investigations were conducted leading to the other two suspects at some lodges in Bulawayo where they were booked.”
Investigations by police established that upon arrival at the illegal crossing points along the Limpopo River, the suspects deflate tyres so that they are able to navigate the river.
After crossing the river, they then put pressure and proceed.

“We also established that it was not their first time to smuggle cars using the same modus operandi and we strongly suspect that they could be operating as a syndicate involving others.
We have therefore intensified our investigations,” said Insp Ncube.
He said the three suspects are facing charges of smuggling.
“They are being charged with smuggling, but there is a likelihood that more charges would be brought up as we continue with our investigations to establish how the cars were acquired,” said Insp Ncube.
The latest arrest comes barely a week after the National Security Task Force intercepted and impounded five vehicles laden with smuggled goods as the Government scales up efforts to crack down on crime along the border with South Africa.
Five people were arrested in connection with the matter while the four kombis, a Hino truck and the contraband were seized by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra).
Several Zimbabweans and other nationals have been nabbed for trying to smuggle cars stolen in South Africa through the Beitbridge Border Post into Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and other regional countries.

In some cases, vehicle trafficking syndicates smuggle the stolen cars through the Limpopo River where donkeys are used to pull the vehicle across the river into Zimbabwe.
Smuggling of vehicles and other contraband is rampant due to the country’s porous borders.

Mliswa Pushes For July Moyo’s Arrest

By- Outspoken Norton lawmaker, Temba Mliswa, has reported Local Government Public Works and National Housing Minister, July Moyo, to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) over a corrupt US$9 million water pumps tender.

July Moyo In US$90 Million Harare Water Corruption

By- Local Government Public Works and National Housing Minister, July Moyo, has been implicated in an over US$9 million corruption scam.

18 Bribe Taking Junta Squad Denied Bail

By-Eighteen members of the security officials drawn from members of the national security cluster were Tuesday denied bail by a Beitbridge Magistrate after they were arrested for taking a R2 000 bribe from a cross-border bus crew at a roadblock in the border town.

The team is part of the multi-discipline security team deployed to combat crime at the border with South Africa.

They were busted on Saturday afternoon by an anti-corruption team at a security checkpoint between Beitbridge Border Post and the Chicago area, along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.

Initially, 27 suspects were caught in the dragnet but nine were freed following preliminary investigations.
The 18, who are being represented by Mr Muchiwande Sithole, were denied bail by Beitbridge Resident Magistrate Mr Takudzwa Gwazemba and remanded in custody to March 29.
They are facing charges of criminal abuse of office and the magistrate ruled that the gang was not fit for bail after they evaded arrest at the crime scene.
The accused fled when one of them was arrested for taking the R2 000 bribe, but were later cornered by the anti-corruption police.

“Bail is denied considering that you are all security members, who are fully aware of how the law works after an arrest and initially you evaded arrest at the alleged crime scene and hence you are a flight risk. You will be tried from custody,” said the magistrate.
The State led by Ms Tinayeishe Matenga and Mr Ronald Mugwagwa said the gang was arrested by an anti-corruption unit following reports of corruption by road users.
A trap was set up on March 12 resulting in the accused persons’ arrest at a security checkpoint between Beitbridge town and Chicago Village along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road.
It is alleged that the team that was acting in common purpose stopped a Sable Class cross-border bus and demanded a bribe of R2 000 to allow it to pass through unchecked.
One, Shepherd Mugomeza of the ZRP Support Unit (Lima Troop) was given R2 000 by a bus crew member which was in marked R200 notes.

Unbeknown to the accused persons, there were anti-corruption detectives on board, who then rounded up the accused persons.
Some among the 18 fled and hid in nearby bushes, but were later cornered and arrested.
The R2 000 bribe money and a 5-litre ‘pot’ (plastic container) they were using to keep the loot were recovered.
The accused persons include Juliet Raura (32) of ZRP Support Unit Hotel Troop Chikurubi, Trevor Chidemo (29) of ZRP Support Unit November Troop, Matseketsa Zvipozvashe (45) of ZRP Support unit Chikurubi, Berita Sokalikamba (37) ZRP Support Unit Chikurubi, Liberty Rutsate (32) the Environmental Health Officer at Beitbridge Hospital, Gurumani Robert Paul (36) of Josiah Tungamirai Airforce base, Moreblessing Nyanhongo (30) ZNA Provost Coy, Patrick Chimbadzo (34) ZRP CID Rusape, Kudzai Muziki (32) ZRP Mat North PHQ and Nyaku Tichareva of ZRP Beitbridge Traffic.
Others are Tambudzai Parirehwa (45) of ZRP CID Rusape, Priscila Gosa (31) of ZRP Beitbridge Traffic, Bothwell Tsinda of ZRP Victoria Falls, Rodrick Kudemba (31) of Support Unit Chikurubi Rural, Givemore Charuma (30) of ZRP Support Unit Changadzi, Tafara Mandishona (36) of ZPCS Bindura Prison and Kevin Moyo (36) of ZRP Victoria Falls, Rodeck Kudemba of Support Unit Chikurubi rural, Givemore Charuma of Birchenough growth point, Tafara Mandishona of Bindura and Kevin Moyo of Pumula South in Bulawayo.

Police Block Chamisa Masvingo Rally

CAF Maintains Ban On Zim Stadiums

The Confederation of African Football has upheld its ban on all local stadiums from hosting from hosting senior men’s teams’ international matches.

In the latest report released by CAF, the country is among seventeen nations on the continent that will not host the games on home soil due to poor standards of their grounds.

The National Sports Stadium, which had hosted the Warriors’ previous matches, had its temporary approval expired in November after the final World Cup Qualifier against Ethiopia.

The Harare venue still has red flags on several areas that require urgent attention for the stadium to meet required standards.

These include:

  1. Individual seats in the stadium
There should be fixed seats in all sectors of the stadium. Seats for spectators must be individual, fixed (e.g. to the floor), separated from one another, shaped, numbered, made of an unbreakable and non-flammable material, and have a backrest of a minimum height of thirty (30) cm when measured from the seat.
  2. Electronic Turnstiles
The stadium should be equipped with modern electronic turnstiles and automated systems.
  3. Venue Operations Centre (VOC)
The stadium must have a functional Venue Operations Centre (VOC) with a good overview of the stadium equipped with CCTV monitors. It should have an override capability over the Public Address System in case of emergency announcements. The VOC should be staffed and serve as the command centre for security and safety operations.
  4. Renovation of B – Arena
The B Arena of the stadium should be renovated in line with CAF Training field infrastructure requirements.
Other facilities in the stadium are still not up to the required CAF standard. The stadium needs to be fully modernized and brought up to the international standard requirements.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Ken Sharpe’s Desperate Bid to Escape Trial For Destroying Harare Businessman’s House Collapses

By A Correspondent| Controversial and exiled land baron Kenneth Raydon Sharpe’s bid to escape trial has hit a brick wall after the Harare Magistrates Court dismissed an application for exception filed by his company Pokugara Properties and its employees Michael John Van Blerk and Mandla Marlone Ndebele.

Sharpe’s company and its employees faces malicious damage to property charges after they connived with City of Harare officials to destroy a show house built by Harare developer George Katsimberis at the Corner Teviotdale and Whitwell Road in Borrowdale.

Pokugara, Van Blerk and Ndebele’s represented Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara had argued that the charges against are meant to embarrass them as the property in question was at the behest of the City of Harare when he submitted his application for exception in the matter in which a Harare developer, George Katsimberis is a witness.

Sharpe and his Managing Director Michael John Van Blerk

In dismissing the application, Magistrate Chakanyuka said the issues raised by the defense counsel are triable and ought to be ventilated in the form of a trial with the State leading evidence.

Global Facts About Abortion

VP Karenyi-Kore Addresses Rally Despite Zanu PF Intimidation

17 March 2022

Wezhira Munya

Zanu PF members and unknown people in Mwenezi East intimidated Citizens Coalition for Change supporters. Due to fear , around 650 CCC supporters attended the rally.

There was also a heavy police presence around Rutenga Growth Point- the venue of the rally.

This also instilled fear into Mwenezi East CCC supporters.

“Some Zanu PF members threatened to take away farms and plots from anyone who dared to attend yesterday’s CCC rally.

Mwenezi East Constituency has many resettled farmers. In order to protect their land, CCC members failed to attend yesterday’s rally,” said one source who refused to be named.

  7. There is need for secretary for rural mobilization hon Chidziva , national organising secretary hon Chibaya, deputy organising secretary Morgan Ncube, national youth leadership to come to Mwenezi East before the by-elections.

Surge In Murder Cases worry Marondera Residents

The increase in murder cases has become a major source of worry in Marondera after a 61-year-old woman was allegedly murdered this week. This comes as the town has recorded six murder cases since the beginning of the year.

With Residents of Marondera still trying to come to terms with the murder of a local Pastor last month, the community has once again been robbed of 61-year old Gogo Maggie Kaumba who was allegedly abused before being killed.

After having gone missing on Friday, Gogo Kaumba’s body was found half-naked in her maize field this Monday.

When ZBC News visited her home in Dombotombo, mourners and relatives were still trying to come to terms with the incident as they await the postmortem.

“We are so saddened by what happened and we await post-mortem results,” said Joseph Luwira, a family member.

“What happened to our mother is so sad and we appeal to police to find the culprits,” said Shamiso Thomas, the daughter.

“The state which I found the body is so traumatising and we want culprits arrested,” said Gladys Mangure, a family member.

The incident comes barely eight months after the death of her husband in July last year due to Covid-19 complications.

Law enforcement agents cautioned the public against moving alone during odd hours.

“We appeal to members of the public to avoid moving alone and at night as they become vulnerable,” said Inspector Simon Chazovachii, Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Mashonaland East.

“As Crime Consultative we are working with ZRP so that these perpetrators are arrested,” said Cleopas Kundiona, Mashonaland East Crime Consultative Committee.

Since the beginning of the year, six murder cases have been reported in Marondera out of 18 recorded in Mashonaland East province.

Arrest Meant To Deny Me Time To Campaign: Gomba

Former Harare mayor, Herbert Gomba’s lawyers yesterday said his arrest on perjury charges was politically-motivated to deny him time to campaign for the March 26 by-elections.

Gomba, who was being represented by Harrison Nkomo and Garikai Mhishi, appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

He was remanded in custody to today for a bail hearing.

The State, represented by Lancelot Mutsokoti opposed bail, saying Gomba was a flight risk as he faced other charges, falsified his address and had several people registered under his residence.

But Nkomo said Gomba was a suitable candidate for bail since he had not violated previous bail conditions.

Nkomo also argued that denying Gomba bail was political persecution to deny him an opportunity to canvass for votes ahead of the polls.

The State alleges that on an unknown date in 2017, Gomba submitted a false address during a voter registration exercise.

Was HMetro “Just Evil” in Covering Madam Boss Extra Marital Failing?

By Showbiz Reporter | Your newspaper is evil, sent by Devil to destroy other people’s families, the tabloid HMetro was slammed by businessman, Moreboys Munetsi, among a host of other businessmen, over its screaming coverage of the Madam Boss husband Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa’s extramarital failings without obtaining broader facts around the matter.

Yes people can make mistakes, but deep issues such as marital affairs require all angles of a story.

Munetsiwa (popularly known as Mhofu) was accused of dating a woman who is now threatening suicide, Ngonidzashe Evangelister Zhou.

Mhofu is the sociallite, Madam Boss’s husband and they have been married for several years from the time the felebrity was still a humble maid.

Wrote Munetsi in full: Your newspaper is evil, sent by Devil to destroy other people’s families. What was your motive to publish the story? Imimi kubasa kwenyu varume nevakadzi you are innocent hapana ane girlfriend or boyfriend? Saka zvatanga na Ngoni tomboti kudaro? No one is perfect we are all sinners. Let’s preach the gospel of love, peace, reconciliation and forgiveness.

The socialites, Bev Sibanda, and Tatelicious Karigambe have said the paper lied. But the lover’s own church has published a statement confirming the whole story.
The briefing by the Church of Asaph reads in part:
“Greetings all saints in the name of Jesus. “From the Apostle’s office to clarify the news going around on social media.

“We encourage the Church to pray in such times and remain standing. “Our Apostle is sound and strong, sending love to all,” the church said in part.

It could not be estabilised at the time of writing how Madam Boss is handling the matter with her husband and ZimEye is following up on the story.

ZAPU Spurns Chamisa’s Offer, To Go It Alone In 2023

ZAPU has rejected an apparent proposal for support by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa in exchange for a return of the party’s properties seized at the height of the Gukurahundi atrocities if he wins power.

Chamisa claimed at a rally in Bulawayo recently that he would ensure his government would return Zapu’s properties, which include farms, buildings and factories.

But Zapu spokesperson, Msongelwa Ndlovu said his party was not interested in Chamisa’s benevolence, saying it was more than capable of handling its own affairs.

Ndlovu said Zapu, which will field the iconic late vice president Joshua Nkomo’s son, Sibangilizwe as its presidential candidate, in the 2023 general election, would take its properties back upon assuming power.

He said while Zapu was flattered to know that there is a party which finally cares about the return of its properties, it was in the race to solve the problems on its own.

“It is encouraging that other parties view the issue of Zapu properties and Matabeleland resources with the urgency and importance it deserves. Our devolution model directly speaks to these issues and we are hopeful that Zimbabweans will vote for Zapu in 2023 in order for us to use God given resources to transform their communities and livelihoods,” Ndlovu said.

“We are contesting the 2023 elections in the hope that we form the next government at best, or at least that we are part of it. Those are part of many unresolved matters we are going to be addressing, no wonder our mantra of “finishing the unfinished business,” he said.

Another Political Party Launched

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean businesswoman, Elizabeth Valerio, has launched an opposition party saying the local and international community should take a proactive role in ensuring that the 2023 harmonized elections are free, fair and credible.

Officially launching the party in Harare on Wednesday, Valerio, who is the interim president of the United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA), said she is confident of victory in the 2023 elections and the forthcoming council and parliamentary by-election in which her party has fielded four can

She said her party would set up 30 companies in various sectors of the economy before the next elections.

Some ordinary people have welcomed the party’s stance on rebuilding Zimbabwe before it is even elected into office.

But some analysts say there are too many political parties in Zimbabwe that normally split votes in critical national elections.

A large number of opposition parties participated in the 2018 general elections, which also featured 23 presidential candidates.-VOA

Tongai Matutu Tears Into “Brainless” Opposition Parties

By A Correspondent- Former Masvingo Urban MP, Tongai Matutu, who defected to ZANU PF said he was the “best brains” during his time in opposition.

Matutu left the then MDC Alliance that was led by Nelson Chamisa after he was disqualified from contesting the provincial chairmanship post ahead of the 2019 Gweru Congress.

Matutu is among several former MDC officials who are being used by the ruling ZANU PF party to de-campaign their erstwhile colleagues ahead of the 26 March by-elections.

During a recent ZANU PF campaign rally at Pangolin shopping centre, Matutu was asked to address supporters by the provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa. Said Matutu:

There is nothing there, I have been there you know it and I am one of the few who had brains and now that we are no longer there, who else is there?

There are two types of votes, spoiled and counted votes, spoiled are those where you fail to put an X where it is required or voting for two or more candidates and also voting for the opposition is now spoiling a vote.

So I want to urge you to vote for Zanu PF to avoid spoiling your votes.

ZANU PF secretary for security and senator for Gutu District Lovemore Matuke said Matutu will be invaluable for the ruling party in its quest to win all wards previously held by the opposition. He said:

We are going to win the by-election here in Masvingo urban. We have Comrade Matutu here whom we are travelling with.

He knows the valves to open so that things work in our favour.

ED Flies Out Again

By A Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left the country for Zambia barely two days after flying back from the United Arab Emirates where he was attending the DubaiExpo2020.

Mnangagwa has gone to attend the funeral of the later former Zambian President Rupiah Banda.

Posting on Twitter, Information Secretary Nick Mangwana said Mnangagwa left for Zambia this morning.

“HE @edmnangagwa has left for Zambia to attend the funeral of the the late Rupiah Bwezani Banda. President Banda is remembered for his unflinching call for removal of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe. He was born in Gwanda in 1937 in the then Southern Rhodesia,” said Mangwana.

Police Persecute Cross-border Buses

By- Law-enforcement agents in Beitbridge have been accused of persecuting cross border buses for making some of them get arrested.

The police and soldier have impounded 15 buses and accused them of carrying smuggled goods worth millions in import duty.

The buses were intercepted at the Dulivhadzimu bus terminus and on the highways from Beitbridge to Bulawayo and Harare and other urban centres.

Bus crew members who spoke to Two Nations claimed that police officers and soldiers who intercepted the buses said that they were punishing the bus companies for getting their colleagues arrested.

Eighteen (18) uniformed officers were arrested by officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit at a roadblock outside Beitbridge on Saturday allegedly after receiving R2 000 bribe from a Sables Class Bus crew.

Mandeep Bus manager, John Marima, told Two Nations that the police officers who commandeered their busses to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) offices told them that the arrests were payback for getting their colleagues arrested. Said Marima:

They said they were arresting us because of Sable Class which reported their workmates and got them arrested for taking bribes.

We have passengers that are stranded with nothing to eat. This is bad for a professional police to be vindictive.

This move is to deter us from making negative reports against the police. After setting this example there is no bus that will report police again for bribe-taking.

The police will actually take bribes on a higher scale from now onwards.

The Chronicle reported that the buses were impounded by the National Security Taskforce.

The publication quoted Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi as saying the police will not hesitate to arrest those involved in smuggling. He said:

We will not hesitate to arrest anyone involved in crime, especially smuggling or corrupt activities.

Our targets are individuals, syndicates, security personnel, companies and transporters engaging in the illegal movement of goods across the borders.

We strongly advise anyone wishing to import or export goods through our borders to do so within the confines of the existing Customs and Excise laws.

Madam Boss’ Hubby Impregnates Girlfriend, Dumps Her

By- Madam Boss’ husband, Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa, has torched a storm after a woman he allegedly impregnated threatened to take her life.

His shenanigans with Evangelister Zhou, an assistant dentist at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, came to light on Monday when the latter disclosed her intention to terminate the pregnancy.

Eva went on to post a video of herself downing a pesticide, threatening to take her life.

She said she was fed up of being abused by Ngonidzashe who reportedly sent someone to rush her to a doctor.

However, when contacted by H-Metro, Ngonidzashe denied knowledge of Eva, describing the allegations as one of many stories cooked up to tarnish his image.

Eva told H-Metro Ngonidzashe had been ignoring her calls and messages since Friday, prompting her to confide in Pastor Jairos Maphosa of the Church of Asaph.

“Ngonidzashe has been ignoring me since Friday,” said Eva.
“He is responsible for my pregnancy and when I sent him a video of myself downing a pesticide, he sent one of his friends to take me to a doctor.
“If you publish this story my fear is to be dumped forever.
“My relatives are not happy to see me marrying Ngoni.
“If you publish this story I will surely come to be your second wife,” said Eva.
Ngonidzashe vehemently denied any knowledge of Eva saying a number of people had been calling him enquiring about the matter.
“You are not the first person asking me about Eva, but truly speaking, I do not know her.
“If you may send me her photographs,” said Ngonidzashe.

After receiving the photograph, he refused to entertain H-Metro.
He then sent threatening messages to Eva and barred her from talking to H-Metro.
However, Pastor Maphosa realised Ngoni was abusing her and exposed Madam Boss husband.
Pastor Maphosa told H-Metro Ngoni threatened Eva with unspecified action if she continued talking to the media.
“Evangelister has been fellowshipping with us for some time from the time she was still living in Mberengwa,” said Pastor Maphosa.
“She relocated to Harare and is still under church custody since she is an orphan and I could not allow someone to continue abusing her.
Yesterday, (Monday) she sent some messages, including videos of herself taking a pesticide and threatening to take her life because of Ngonidzashe.
“She accused Ngoni of forcing her to terminate a pregnancy for the second time and this touched my heart.
“I am in South Africa, but I openly told Eva that Ngoni’s evil acts must be exposed because he was abusing her.
“This is not the first time Eva has threatened to take her life. She did the same after she was forced to terminate her first pregnancy.
“Hanzi zvikazivikanwa ndinorarama sei naMadam Boss uye iye Ngoni arikuti unozviona chete saka nyarara.
“I have all the WhatsApp conversations between me and Eva, including the video she sent me.
“I warned Eva over dating a married man, but I cannot allow Ngonidzashe to continue abusing this woman by taking advantage of her background, no.
“Eva is afraid of Madam Boss, but she wanted to be a second wife to Ngonidzashe.
“We are against that decision of dating a married man,” said Pastor Maphosa. H Metro

Met Department Warns Of Thunderstorms

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) of Zimbabwe says Bulawayo, Matebeleland North and South provinces should expect thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bulawayo had light showers on Monday, which people thought was the end of the long dry spell that suffocated crops with moisture stress.

In the rural areas of Matabeleland North and South, most crops have been affected by the dry spell and some farmers are counting their losses, especially those that had planted maize.

Last week Government said it will implement measures to ease the effects of climate change that has resulted in a prolonged dry spell in the country and people must not panic as there are adequate stocks of cereals.

MSD head of forecasting Mr James Ngoma said the rains will affect Tsholotsho, Lupane and Gwanda.

“All three provinces, Matabeleland North, South and Bulawayo will be affected by thunderstorms and also parts of Midlands provinces. We are expecting it for Tuesday into Wednesday and then as we get further into the week it becomes less,” said Mr Ngoma.

“It has been rather dry and we are expecting heavy downpours in places, especially parts of Bulawayo, Tsholotsho district and parts of Lupane and Gwanda. But because it has been dry for the past few weeks, we don’t expect much in terms of flash flooding, but more in terms of heavy rains.”

Mr Ngoma said the rains will mark the end of the season.

“These are normal periodic rains that we get towards the end of the season and as we get cloud bands coming in. At the beginning of the season, we get these cloud bands and at the end we get them also. They are coming from Botswana into the western parts of the country, spreading eastwards to the rest of the country,” said Mr Ngoma.

Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa last week said according to a report by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, climate change was biting farmers, but assured the nation that there are enough food stocks.- Chronicle

Magistrate Shockingly Convicts Woman Of Rape

A 27-year-old Bikita woman was convicted or raping a teenager, by a magistrate.

The woman has since been cleared of rape by another Masvingo magistrate after the court ruled that her ashamed teenage lover had cooked up rape charges against her.

Melania Masuka of Musavengana Village was acquitted of rape by Masvingo magistrate Mr Bishard Chineka after it emerged that the woman was in love with her 19-year-old rape accuser.

Mr Chineka freed the accused after noting inconsistencies in the testimony by the complainant.

This was after the woman proved to the court that the two were in fact lovers and had been intimate using protection several times but the complainant only later on got ashamed that he was dating a woman older than him.

It also emerged during cross examination that the complainant’s mother was the one who pressurised her son to make a false report to the police.

Allegations against the woman were that on October 26 last year while he was looking for cattle she met the complainant who was looking for cattle.

She was accused to have sprayed the complainant with an unknown substance prompting him to feel dizzy.

The woman was then alleged to have dragged the complainant about 100 metres away to an abandoned building where she reportedly forced herself on him and threatened to kill him if he reported to anyone.

A police report was made two months later after the complainant fell sick and lied to his mother that he had been raped. Mr Liberty Hove appeared for the State. Herald

Receiving An Unshakable Kingdom

Sabbath School Summary

By Dr Elder Masimba Mavaza

Lesson 12

Memory Text: Hebrews 12:28

Memory Text: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear”

Introduction

Hebrews 12:18-29, the passage for this week, is the climax of the letter, and it sums up its main concern by repeating the idea with which it started: God has spoken to us in the person of His Son, and we need to pay careful attention (Heb. 1:1, 2; Heb. 12:25) to Him. The description of Jesus in Hebrews 12:22-24 epitomizes the letter’s assertions about Him: Jesus is the Mediator of the new covenant, and His blood provides salvation for believers. His priestly and royal ministry in our behalf is a cause for celebration for the heavenly hosts. And finally, Hebrews 12:25-29 contains the last and climactic exhortation: God’s judgment is coming. It will bring destruction to His enemies—but vindication and a kingdom to His people (Heb. 12:28, 29). The ending reaffirms the importance of Jesus’ achievements at the cross and directs believers to the consummation of Jesus’ victory at the Second Coming. Paul used imagery from Daniel 7 to remind the readers that Jesus has received a kingdom from God, the Judge (Dan. 7:9-14), and is going to share His kingdom with believers, “the saints of the Most High,” who will possess it forever and ever (Dan. 7:18).

SABBATH: Jesus began His work on earth by being hungry, yet He’s the Bread of Life. At the end of His ministry, He had no mediator to plead on His behalf before Pilate, yet He’s our mediator in heaven. Paul from onset bid us to heed to Jesus (Heb. 1:1, 2; 12:18-29). His blood saves us, He’s the Mediator of the new covenant, & He gives joy & victory (Heb. 12:25-29). He’ll judge the world (Dan. 7:9-14, 18).

SUNDAY: When Christ mounted in triumph to His throne in Mt. Zion, angels feasted with Him. By faith in Christ, our names are listed in the books of heaven & we share in the feast (Heb. 12:22-24, Exod. 32:32, Ps. 56:8, Dan. 12:1, Mal. 3:16, Luke 10:20, Rev. 13:8, 17:8). We’re the “firstborn” by the merits of Christ & God’s our Father (Heb. 1:16, Phil. 3:20, Heb. 12:9, 23, 5:6, 7:11-22, Ps. 2:6, 7, 110:1, 2; 102:21-27).

MONDAY: The redemption of the saints is also the condemnation of sinners. God is a just Judge! There is a pre-advent judgement before the second advent. From the Book of remembrance & Book of life, all fates will be decided. The scene in Hebrews & Daniel are similar (Heb. 12:23, Dan. 7:9, 10, 13-22 & Heb. 12:22-29). Christ is our champion & our best model (Heb. 2:6, 9, see Heb. 12:28, Dan. 7, & Rev. 13).

TUESDAY: Christ’s installment as our High Priest does not guarantee our salvation. A great shaking will occur in the future (Heb. 12:26). Hence, we need to hear God’s voice. The OT uses “shaking” to signify God’s judgement/salvation (Judg. 5:20). Christ will defeat His enemies (Hag. 2:6-9, 20-22, Ps. 96:9, 10; 99:1, 68:7, 8, 60:2, 77:17, 18; Heb. 12:26, 27, 1:13, 2:14-16, 1:5-14, 10:11-14, 1 Cor. 15:23-25).

WEDNESDAY: God’s kingdom is unshakable like Himself. “Shaking” when used does not imply that God will remove the heavens & the earth & they’ll be forever gone (Ps. 15:5, 16:8, 21:7, 62:2, 112:6, Heb. 12:27). Howbeit, God will create new heavens & earth & we’ll have new bodies (Isa. 65:17, Rev. 21:1-4, 1 Thess. 4:13-17, Phil. 3:20). The “shaking” is recreation (see Heb. 1:10-12, 7:3, 24, 10:34, 12:28).

THURSDAY: The fresh blessings of each day should awaken gratitude in us. The rituals of the sanctuary service was the way the people showed repentance & gratitude to God. Yet, God was pleased not by animal blood but the gratitude (Heb. 12:28, 13:15, 16, Ps. 50:7-23, Isa. 1:11-17). Now, our gratitude is shown by right worship (Heb. 3:1, 4:14, 10:10-14, 19-23, Exod. 19:4, 5, 6; 1 Pet. 2:9, 10; Rev. 1:6; 5:10).

FRIDAY: After the second advent of Christ, there’s a 1,000-year time period, the Millennium, where the saints reside in heaven & the devil & the wicked are judged. At this time, the saints will reign as kings & priests unto God (1 Cor. 4:5, Dan. 7:22, Rev. 20:4, 6, 1 Cor. 6:2). The saints will unite with Christ & judge the wicked. Satan & his angels will also be judged (Jude 6). God cars & is a just Judge!

Discussion Questions

? What does the participation of the saints in the judgment of the wicked (1 Cor. 6:3, Jude 6) say about God and how transparent He will be with us in showing us His goodness and fairness in how He has dealt with sin and evil?

? Read Exodus 32:32, Psalm 56:8, Psalm 69:28, Psalm 139:16, Isaiah 4:3, Daniel 12:1, Malachi 3:16, Luke 10:20, Revelation 13:8, and Revelation 17:8. These are references to God’s books in heaven. What kinds of things are registered in these books? Why is it important that God maintains a record of our tears (Ps. 56:8), for example? If God knows everything, what is the purpose of such books or records?

? Why do you think it is important that Hebrews ends the argument of the epistle with a link to the promises of Daniel 7? Why are these links important in the context of Jesus’ ministry in heaven? What does Daniel 7 teach us about the end of all earthly and fallen things?

Zim Murderer Flees Botswana On Bike

A ZIMBABWEAN man living illegally in Botswana has been arrested for strangling an elderly Motswana woman to death and stealing her bicycle which he rode to Zimbabwe.
The murder took place on Valentine’s Day.

According to Botswana media, villagers in Tutume area in Botswana on the border with rural Bulilima in Matabeleland South province effected citizen arrest on Bhekimpilo Moyo of Chidiwe village in Ndolwane area.

He had allegedly killed a 70-year-old woman identified as Chanda Kugwa before villagers caught him.

The woman rode a bicycle to her fields and Moyo allegedly followed her and killed her before fleeing to Ndolwane in Zimbabwe.

Moyo has since appeared before a magistrates’ court in Masunga, Botswana, charged with entering the country unlawfully, murder and prosecutors indicated a possible additional rape charge.

Moyo was remanded in custody because he is a flight risk and will be back in court on Monday next week for routine remand.

Allegations are that Moyo strangled the old woman to death in order to steal her bicycle, which he rode to Zimbabwe.

The now deceased was last seen going to her fields riding a bicycle and when she did not return home in the evening, her brother followed her and found her dead body in the field.

The witness phoned police who attended the scene and rushed the unconscious Kugwa to a local clinic where she was confirmed dead.

There were visible injuries raising suspicion that she had been strangled.

“Where she was lying we spotted a stranger’s shoe print that we suspected was of the person who murdered her and stole her bicycle.

Our investigations led to the arrest of the Zimbabwean man,” said Tutume Superintendent Station Commander Jerry Halahala, quoted in media in Botswana.

Members of the public effected citizen arrest on Moyo and handed him to the police.

A video of the citizen’s arrested was trending on Facebook last week and Moyo admitted in the video that he killed the elderly woman and fled to Ndolwane village in Zimbabwe with her bicycle.

He then returned to Setabataba village in Botswana to visit his girlfriend who stays there and that’s when members of the public apprehended him. Chronicle

Health Experts Speak On Abortion

Two Die Saving Goat From Well

By-Two Insuza men drowned after they fell into a well while trying to rescue a goat that had fallen inside.

Police confirmed the death of 48-year-old Themba Nyathi and Mabutho Sibanda (36) of Dundubala, Insuza in Matabeleland North.

“Police confirm the death of Themba Nyathi (48) of Dundubala, Insuza and Mabutho Sibanda (36) of Makhondo village Nyamandlovu who drowned in a well at Lucky Khumalo’s homestead, Dundubala, Insuza on the 14th day of March 2022. On the fateful day, Themba Nyathi arrived home from the fields and found a piece of zinc sheet which was used to close the well missing. He suspected that there might be a goat which fell inside the well. Together with the help of his son, they prepared some ropes and hooks to fish out the zinc and the goat,” said Matebeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda.
He said as they were preparing to go down the well two other villagers joined in and assisted in lowering them down.
“During the process, two other villagers arrived at the well and found the two trying to rescue the goat. With the help of these two villagers, Nyathi was lowered down the well using a rope. After a while, he complained of breathing difficulties. Other villagers were advised of the developments and they came to rescue him.”
It is said that after suspecting that Nyathi could still be alive one of the villagers, Sibanda volunteered to go on a rescue mission of Nyathi.
“Villagers suspected that Themba Nyathi was still alive and one Mabutho Sibanda volunteered to get down the well so that he could rescue him. He was also lowered down by way of ropes. Whilst inside the well, he got off the rope and there was no communication from him.”
A report was made to police who attended the scene before the Sub Aqua unit retrieved the two bodies from the well the following day.
Insp. Banda appealed to members of the public to avoid entering water bodies without expertise on rescue missions but instead report all cases of drowning to police to activate experts such as the Sub Aqua unit.

Chamisa Agrees To Pay USD100 Billion Compensation for Matabeleland Genocide?

By Israel Dube | In his own words, Chamisa told a rally in Tsholotsho 3 days ago, “there is this issue of Gukurahundi. I told the late former President Robert Mugabe and the current Zanu-PF leadership that you cannot sweep Gukurahundi under the carpet. This is an unresolved national question which you are unable to solve because you caused it. We can solve it.” This he has said in all his rallies he addressed in Matabeleland so far.

Since Nelson Chamisa has promised to make Matabeleland genocide his first priority should he win Zimbabwe elections, he must meet our two demands which are as follows:

I) Restoration of Matebeleland State as at 3 November 1893 and emerge and join the family of nations as The Republic of Matebeleland

2) Pay US$100billion dollars reparations for Matebele genocide done by the Zimbabwe government through Zimbabwe National Army 5th brigade in 1981-1987

Pope: …….celebrated Matebele genocide and thanked late dictator Robert Mugabe and current dictator Emmerson Mnangagwa and other genocidist in government and Zaupf party before they sleep

If he meets the above demands in full then we will listen to him. However, it must sink into his head that in no terms shall he choose the solution for us. We will choose the solution ourselves as indicated above and will not depart from it to be Shona slaves.

It is not surprising that even a little Shona boy like Chamisa who was still in his mother’s nappies during Matabeleland genocide believes that such a complicated matter is a small issue that he will easily solve. This is because Shona people have come to believe their own lies that they were appointed by God to lead Matabele people and turn them into their slaves forever.

Even Matabeleland genocide perpetrators, their hands dripping with the blood of our innocent relatives, believe that they have a solution for Matabeleland genocide just because they are Shona. What a shame!

In our last article we exposed this tired and annoying tactic by Shona leaders who shed crocodile tears as soon as they touch Matabeleland soil for sole purpose of gathering votes in Matabeleland territory. We are tired of this hypocrisy and pretence. It is annoying and causes more pain for the surviving victims of Matabeleland genocide. We know that all Shona people celebrated Matebele genocide and thanked late dictator Robert Mugabe and current dictator Emmerson Mnangagwa and other genocidist in government and Zaupf party before they sleep.

If Chamisa cannot promise to meet our two demands then he must forget about Matabeleland and concentrate on fixing tribal divisions within CCC that threaten to tear it apart.

According to reliable sources, CCC leader and ‘owner’ Nelson Chamisa, is on the hunt for a weak, tame and Shona worshiping Matabele in Matabeleland to replace Welshman Ncube as CCC Vice President. Welshman Ncube is accused of being a “stubborn Matabele fundamentalist”. We advise him to buy an air ticket in time and keep his bags packed because Shona supremacist are coming to kick him out of Harare again.
This is how they deal with Matabele people in Harare, Mashonaland.

They would rather split the party along tribal lines and risk losing elections than have a Matabele lead them even for one hour. Further more, we hear that Shona supremacists are guarding the CCC doors very tightly these days to keep Thokozani Khupe from making a come back. She is seen as a threat to Shona supremacism because of her Presidential ambitions. The position of President is reserved for Shonas in the CCC and for now it has been taken by one Shona, Nelson Chamisa without going to elections.

Shona people and their leaders must understand that that we do not want Shona leaders, we have our own. In fact we know how to differentiate between criminals and tyrants from Mashonaland who have a proven DNA of theft & corruption and genuine leaders.

We do not need their political ideas. If they have any at all, which we doubt very much, they must implement them in Zimbabwe and rescue it from being a failed state that it is currently.

We do not want to be misruled and oppressed by Shona people. We want to govern ourselves and develop our Country, The Republic of Matabeleland and turn it into Africa’ s economic power-house within the first 10 years of our independence and self rule.

Viva The Republicof Matabeleland viva!!

Ayihlomi’hlasele!!

Izenzo kungemazwi!

Police Impound 15 Cross-border Buses

By- Law-enforcement agents have impounded 15 buses carrying suspected smuggled goods worth millions of dollars in import duty in Beitbridge.

Madam Boss’ Hubby In Infidelity Storm

H Metro

Mwonzora Gives In To By-Elections

By- The opposition MDC-T has made a U-turn on its decision to have the March 26 by-elections nullified.

The party’s legal advisor Tapera Sengweni Tuesday withdrew his Constitutional Court (ConCourt) challenge seeking to stop the by-elections.

A letter dated March 15, 2022 from the ConCourt addressed to Mbidzo, Muchadehama and Makoni Legal Practitioners, who were representing Election Resource Centre, said Sengweni had withdrawn his application.
The election watchdog had applied for a joinder in the case.
“Please, be advised that the first and second applicant’s applications under CCZ13/22 were dismissed on March 11 2022.
This was precipitated by a notice of withdrawal filed by the parties on March 8, 2022.
As a result of the withdrawal and the dismissal of the application, there is no matter to which your client may apply for joinder.
Please be guided accordingly.”
Sengweni had argued that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission failed to proclaim the polls within the stipulated 90-day period after the seats became vacant.
Other applicants in the matter were Vinnah Mbele, Edify Kudzaishe Vushoma and Phanuel Tsvanu.
Zimbabwe is set to hold by-elections next Saturday.

Fake Valerio Sibanda Q Account Publishes Nation-Address

A fake account attributed to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander Valerio Sibanda has published the below statement purportedly by him .

ZimEye warns our viewers and listeners that the said so called statement is not at all from the general and the account owner may be just a poet.

Good day to our beloved citizens!

I would like to encourage all citizens to remain peaceful and campaign freely without intimidation from any political party. While operation restore legacy had it’s shortcomings, it was a neccessary operation. Moving forward, i demand that the government respects it’s citizens and allow them to enjoy the full freedoms derived from our liberation struggle.

I will not preside over a military that does not uphold the constitution. We will remain as professional as we can under the difficult conditions we are operating under.
We would like to thwart all allegations doing the rounds in different social media platforms to the effect that the JOC had a meeting intending to declare a state of emergency and postpone 2023 elections. Those allegations are false baseless and only imaginary in the minds of people the authors of the story. There are no such bases for us to declare a state of emergency.

I want to take this opportunity to denounce with the strongest terms all the violence that is taking place during this campaign period.
May we be reminded that we all Zimbabweans first before we are identified by our varied political affiliation.
As i conclude, be reminded that if you are used in acts of violence for which ever political party you stand for, just know that your day of judgement will come and the long arm of the law will catch up with you. It might not be today, but justice will be served. Be warned!

I wish all citizens of this beautiful country a healthy and peaceful campaigning period.

The General.

Man Murders Pregnant Wife

By- A 22-year-old pregnant woman died at the hands of her violent and abusive husband.

The deceased left behind a three-year-old minor child and her pregnancy status was revealed through a postmortem.

Her husband, Macdonald Chivero (31), has since been sentenced to four years in prison, without the option of a fine, by High Court Judge Justice Lucie-Anne Mungwari.

The row between the couple was based on accusations of infidelity.

The State alleged the couple’s relationship was characterised by domestic disputes, with Chivero in the habit of assaulting his late wife.

Allegations are that on February 14, 2021, Chivero struck his wife on the head with an iron bar.

Two weeks later, he attacked her again, all over her body, using fists and hands.
The matter was reported to the police.
Despite the police report, on March 14, 2021, Chivero again assaulted his wife with a pot and, two days later, she started vomiting blood. Five days later, the deceased was taken by her aunt to her parent’s house for spiritual cleansing but later died.
In her ruling, Justice Mungwari noted that Chivero had displayed shocking behaviour.
“The callousness displayed by the accused towards his own pregnant wife is more than shocking, it is also alarming,” ruled the judge.
“The persistent prolonged and intermittent assaults upon her dictate that she could not have survived. The very act of using violence at all, let alone on a pregnant woman, is an act of gross negligence.”
The judge added; “It should be made clear to the society that disputes, of whatever kind and manner, cannot and should not be resolved by violence as this, in most instances, results in the loss of life as occurred here.
“The factual circumstances suggest that the accused is a character that has a lot of anger issues and requires a lot of maturing.
“His personal circumstances are those where the accused needs to consciously rehabilitate himself towards non-violence.”
Justice Mungwari said a deterrent sentence would scare perpetrators.
“There is, therefore, a need for a deterrent sentence that will send word to men in the society that courts do not condone the battering of their wives.
Four years imprisonment, of which one year is suspended for five years on condition that the accused does not, within that period, commit any offence involving the use of violence on another person.”

It is true that the rate of compliance with election promises is erratic for most parties after coming to power. Political promises have a long history as they are written statements of the beliefs or aims of a party. Political promises are interesting because people get a glimpse of what is in store for them if the party they vote for comes to power. Political promises can be described as “a party’s contract with the electorate. The 21 year old new party CCC which was formed in 1998 and changed its name to CCC in 2022 could be asked one question, how they would achieve the poll promises of making an economic turn around in few weeks in office. It is true that CCC is making unrealistic promised because they know they will not come to power any sooner. While offering freebies CCC does not calculate the cost of implementing them.
So it is not the number of pledges a party makes but the intention to fulfill them, which matters. In ZANU PF manifestos are policy-based, generally covering the economic and foreign policy, healthcare, governance reform, environmental issues, this ZANU PF has done and can point to the developments done so far. The new dispensation has all its achievements in three years to show.
Poll chancers pretending to be politicians who make false promises must be punished.
Politicians knowingly making promises during elections campaigns that are pie-in-the-sky, should be charged for undermining voters’ ability to make informed choices.
Knowingly making false, unachievable and illegal campaign promises amounts to a political lie, breaches ethics and honesty. It is true that Chamisa and lies are from the same mother the devil. He no-longer feel ashamed of his lies.
In his party there are enough clowns like him. Imagine Tendai Biti telling the voters that Pogba a football player promised to come to Zimbabwe if the CcC wins. Seriously?
It is intended to deliberately deceive voters – many of whom are desperate, and do not know better. It now appears that even political CCC campaign speeches have been “captured”.
Outrageously false campaign promises undermine the credibility, legitimacy and trust in the country’s electoral system – and also in politics broadly.
Increasingly ahead of elections CCC leaders and parties are making false, unrealistic and unattainable promises in order to get the votes. Making false and unrealistic promises is unethical, immoral and irresponsible.
It shows a shocking disregard for the truth. Leaders and parties show their disrespect for poor, desperate voters by promising them things that are patently undeliverable. Making such promises are not in the best interests of the constituencies they purport to serve, neither is it in the best interests of the country.
False promises also undermine the credibility of information given to voters to base their voting decisions on. False campaign information, particularly in a society such as Zimbabwe with citizens who often do not have access to credible information, undermines the credibility of truthful, fact-based and evidence-based information, as unknowing ordinary citizens believe the false information they receive from cynical politicians and political parties.

Once again Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa pledged to bring closure to the Gukurahundi issue once he assumes power, saying Zanu PF officials were not in a hurry to resolve the matter since they were involved in the mass killings. This was another sensational but false promise from Chamisa who kicked out Khupe on tribal grounds. Now chamisa Wants to hoodwink the Matebeleland voters by promising them a closure to Gukurahundi

Gukurahundi atrocities is said to have claimed over 20 000 lives in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces after government deployed the North Korea-trained Fifth Brigade to hunt down suspected ex-Zipra insurgents in the 1980s. There is no official figure on this issue. It is an issue which was best described by the former president the late Cde RG Mugabe as a moment of madness. This is a matter of national interest and must not be allowed in the hands of children to use as a carrot.

When Chamisa was addressing party supporters at Tsholotsho Business Centre last week Chamisa said if he won the 2023 elections, his party would prioritise solving the Gukurahundi issue. He made it appear that there was nothing done to solve the issue. There was a ministry set by former president Robert Mugabe to deal with peace and reconciliation in Zimbabwe. Wounds were opened and treated. There sides to every coin and Gulurahundi was the darkest moment for our country.
No small Children from Children Circus Committee. CCC should be allowed to use those painful days as a campaigning tool.
Chamisa made these unfortunate sad days his campaign tool for 2023 and for the by-elections.
Tsholotsho is one of the districts in Matabeleland North province worst hit by the Gukurahundi massacres and Chamisa sought to invoke those memories in his campaign trail. Chamisa lied again to the Tsholotsho folks that he spoke to president Mugabe about this issue. There is no record of Chamisa saying anything about this issue. Chamisa was desperate to please the people of Tsholotsho by lying yo them.
Chamisa should be ashamed of using Gukurahundi as a campaign tool.
Chamisa in his speech promises retribution and an eye for an eye. The only thing Chamisa does not know is that eye for an eye makes the world blind.
Zimbabwe does not need another social upheaval. Zimbabwe needs peace and we have come this far for peace.
Chamisa is weak and promises unrealistic issues. Pretends to be macho man.Now he touches on very sensitive issues which can cause serious conflicts.
He is simply immature and stakeholders must ditch him. People must see beyond his childish comedy which he believes is politics.

Specific, headline-grabbing promises in party promises are a fairly recent thing. It was not always so and it is not something inherent in Zimbabwe’s parliamentary system. In fact it is incompatible with it, and the emphasis on such promises has created a misleading impression of the proper role of politicians and parliament.
Under a set of legal and moral obligations, it should be the responsibility of governments to govern in what they consider to be in the best interests of the country, rather than fulfil the promises and pledges of their party promises. Similarly, it is the responsibility of individual Zimbabwean to vote for the party with policies which they believe to be in the best interests of their constituents – and of the country as a whole not divisive dangerous campaign by CCC.
The promises of political parties are empty because they do not have the ability or the authority to pass the legislation or to promote the policies they promise. These are the roles of parliament and government and Chamisa must not false promises he knows he will never fulfil.
Chamisa’s promises offered a “smörgåsbord” of headline-grabbing promises, which are unrealistic and taking Zimbabweans for fools.
Voters cannot make informed voting decisions based on false election campaign promises. False campaign promises undermine the sacred power of the vote itself. This the power ZANU PF fought for and gave to the people.
The CCC must avoid raising unfulfillable expectations and making unrealistic promises Zimbabweans are wiser than that. Chamisa must stop abusive attacks or innuendos directed to ZANU PF campaigners or their family members for reason of their political affiliation, race, social origins and background, education, gender, religion, or any other reason. He must learn to stand by the truth and grow up. Unrealistic election pledges will leave the Zimbabwe disappointed. CCC will not cheer for long if they win and their plans collide with economic and social reality. Making big election promises is unethical and can be disastrous for politicians. Chamisa seems very oblivious of this. Unscrupulous politicians tell desperate voters what they want to hear, even if such promises cannot be fulfilled, just to get into power.
Zimbabweans must be seriously aware of these clowns chameleons who change their names colours.
We must not allow Chamisa and his CCC to divide us ever again. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours.
The Gukurahundi era is regrettable and must not be brought up to pollute the pure minds of the new generation. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in this whole wide world.
