Nakamba Problems Continue

Marvelous Nakamba’s market value has slumped by more than half since arriving in England in 2019.

The Warriors international signed for Aston Villa from Belgian giants Club Brugge for €12m.

The 28-year-old failed to pin down a regular starting berth in his first year at the club and was again used as a second choice in the following campaigns.

His situation worsened last year following a long-term knee injury.

The player struggled to return to form after the recovery and is yet to feature in a competitive game this season. He has often been dropped from a matchday squad.

These recent struggles have seen his value dropping by a massive 59%, according to German website Transfermarkt.

The midfielder is now valued at just €5m, his lowest market value in almost five years.

Meanwhile, Nakamba has been linked with an exit at Villa Park in this transfer window.

The club is said to have identified Juventus central midfielder Winston McKennie as a target to reinforce the midfield department.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

DeMbare Veteran Joins Simba Bhora

Former Dynamos captain Partson Jaure is training with Simba Bhora and on the verge of joining the Premier Soccer League new boys…

The former Warriors defender (32), was shown the exit door by DeMbare when his contract with Harare giants expired on December 31 2022.

Jaure was at the Simba Bhora training session at RBZ Sports Club today, and all indications point to the diminutive defender joining the ambitious side.

Simba went through their paces under the watchful eye of freshly-recruited coach Tonderai Ndiraya, as preparations for their debut campaign in the PSL continue.

Jaure, together with former Dynamos teammate Keith Murera, were some of the new faces at the Simba training session.

The ambitious side, owned by mining mogul Simba ‘Buju’ Ndoro, won the Northern Region Soccer League to earn promotion to the country’s top-flight.

They have been active in the transfer window, in an attempt to beef up their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Ndiraya will have players with PSL experience at his disposal, as Simba Bhora lured the former CAPS United trio of midfielder Ronald ‘Rooney’ Chitiyo, defender Webster Tafa and goalkeeper Simbarashe Chinani, when they were still in Division One last year.

Former Warriors right-back Hardlife Zvirekwi, as well as Ali Sadiki, former of Zambian side Kabwe Warriors, are some of the seasoned campaigners also at Simba.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Apostle Chiwenga Says Chamisa Is A Liar With No Solution for Zimbabwe

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | The preaching populist, ‘Apostle’ Talent Chiwenga has announced saying the man he once ‘prophesied’ as the incoming Head Of State in 2018, Nelson Chamisa, is a deceiver with no solution for Zimbabwe.

Chamisa was still to comment on the allegation, as Chiwenga who himself once cowardly abandoned his own church members while being assaulted by corrupt police officers in First Street, Harare, accused him (Chamisa) of leaving his supporters to be abused while hiding in a place of safety.

Chiwenga has several times over the years contradicted himself while praising Chamisa and later criticising him over the same issues. (Video).

“Mr (Nelson) Chamisa is at the last row at the back: he is standing pointing directions for people, turn here, turn there, after you’ve been assaulted, turn back to face this side,” said the controversial preacher.

Speaking in his video sermon, Chiwenga said the CCC leader is not clear on what he stands for. He said, “what do you stand for you who are saying you are offering an alternative government what are you standing, what are your principles what are your idologies?”

“What is your manifesto promising to the people of Zimbabwe? Why can’t you do something today to prove that you really mean what you are saying? “

“Politics is not a contestation of words; good English is not politics; This is not Britain, this is Africa.

“You can only confuse dunderheads by speaking borrowed words from so called scholars and historians; Proper citizens who are wise will not be misguided they will still hear from your words that you are vain; you are a hypocrite; you are deceptive; you say a lot of things but you do nothing…

“That is very worrisome; what has he actually done himself in person to show the Zimbabwean people that he is willing to suffer; to provide solutions to their problems apart from standing behind a pulpit and using a microphone to say good words that are not corroborated by action?

“Has he been tested enough to show us that he has the ability to lead a nation? A leader leads from the front, not from the back.

“Mr (Nelson) Chamisa is at the last row at the back: he is pointing directions for people, turn here, turn there, after you’ve been assaulted, turn back again to face us, so we can escape through this direction,” said Talent Chiwenga.

Prince Harry Speaks On Dating Another Zimbabwean Girl

By-Prince Harry has claimed that he broke up with a Zimbabwean girl because his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II did not approve of their union.

In an excerpt from the Duke of Sussex’s forthcoming book obtained by Page Six, Prince Harry reflected on his on-again, off-again romance with the Zimbabwean businesswoman, his ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, whom he dated from 2004 to 2011.

In his Spare memoir, the royal writes that he “couldn’t help” but think what his grandmother thought about Davy’s free-spirited lifestyle at the time. The Independent UK cites him as saying:

I loved Chels’ ease, that she wasn’t complicated. She didn’t care what anyone thought. She wore miniskirts and high-heeled boots, danced however she wanted, drank tequila like me, and all of this made me really happy. I couldn’t help what my grandmother thought about it. Or the people. And the last thing I wanted was for Chels to change to please them.

Harry, 38, also admitted that he “wasn’t sure” at the time whether Davy, now 37, was “the one” for him. He said:

The whole world isn’t made to put up with constant scrutiny, and I don’t know if Chels could bear it, and I couldn’t ask her to.

He also described how Davy was stalked throughout their relationship, claiming they once placed a tracking device underneath her car. He wrote:

Chels insisted that she was not sure if she was prepared for all of that. A whole life with someone on your heels? What could I say to her? I would miss her very much, but I understood she put her freedom first. If I had the choice, I’d want to live like that as well.

The former couple split in 2011, shortly after he was awarded his helicopter pilot’s wings in May 2010. Davy attended the ceremony in Stockbridge, Hampshire, where Harry received his Flying Wings during a graduation ceremony from an advanced helicopter training course at the Museum of Army Middle Wallop.

The pair met in Cape Town in 2004, while Harry was on his gap year. After meeting, the two began dating and she pursued a law degree in Leeds which allowed her to be closer to Harry.

Davy is said to have met the Queen at a society wedding during her relationship with Harry, and attended Princess Diana’s memorial service alongside Harry on the 10th anniversary of her death. She was also invited to Prince Charles’ 60th birthday.

Despite calling it quits in 2011, Chelsy Davy has maintained a close relationship with the royals over the years. That same year, she attended Prince William and Kate Middleton’s April wedding.

Davy was also invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018 and Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank later that year.

In May 2022, Davy married hotelier Sam Cutmore-Scott and gave birth to their son, Leo, earlier that year.

Hwindi Overpowers Police

By-Traffic police in central Harare have been overpowered by one tout operating at the corner of Robert Mugabe Road and Julius Nyerere Way.

The tout, only identified as Gumbura, is reported to be the one protecting drivers from arrest.
A smartly dressed Gumbura was yesterday busy directing mushikashikas and kombis to pick up passengers without fear.
The cops were standing close to Gumbura going through their mobile phones, while the chaos unfolded in front of their eyes.
From Julius Nyerere Way heading into Robert Mugabe Road, every corner is a pick-up point, especially in the evening.
Police have been launching operations against mushikashikas for some time without winning the battle, and for the pirates to operate right next to the biggest police station in the country shows why.
Some believe that a number of mushikshika drivers are cops off duty as they pass all check points freely.

School Head Hit By A Tree, Dies On Spot

By-The head of Bare Secondary School in Mazowe District, Mashonaland Central Province, died when a tree fell on a stationary vehicle she was sitting in.

According to the state media, an 80-year-old man has also swept away while crossing a flooded river in Gwanda District, Matabeleland South Province, as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms lash most of Zimbabwe.

Both incidents occurred on Thursday following an advisory by the Meteorological Services Department and Department of Civil Protection for people to exercise extreme caution in light of heavy rains and flooding expected from yesterday to tomorrow across Zimbabwe.

Local community leaders, stretching right down to village head level, are continuing to monitor and advise people when danger threatens.

Some houses and schools have been damaged, and Bindura — which has recorded storms of above average intensity — saw the provincial hospital lose the roof of its laboratory, the fence around the Government complex flattened, and several houses losing their roofs on Thursday. The most affected provinces by yesterday were Masvingo, Mashonaland Central, Matabeleland South and parts of Manicaland and Midlands.

Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East, Bulawayo and Harare have recorded heavy rainfall, but nothing too severe with just rivers and streams rising and some bridges being flooded.

Department of Civil Protection chief director Mr Nathan Nkomo said his office was continuing to keep in contact with those overseeing damage control, and was responding to queries from traditional chiefs and those in the provinces.

“A lot of travellers have been in touch with us so far. We had engagements with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and they have since issued a circular over Manicaland and Masvingo having strong winds and heavy rains,” he said.

“Mashonaland Central experienced strong winds and heavy rainfall which resulted in damage to property and a fatality. In Bindura’s Chiwaridzo, Garikai and Cleverhill suburbs, roofs were blown off. The provincial hospital laboratory’s roof was blown away while the fence surrounding the Government complex was razed to the ground.

“In Mazowe’s Ward 15, 16 and 23 electricity poles and trees were uprooted. In Ward 3, a tree was uprooted and fell on top of a stationary vehicle that had two occupants. One occupant, who was the head of Bare Secondary School, died on the spot while the other occupant was seriously injured and has been admitted in hospital.”

Mr Nkomo said travellers should not to cross rivers in flood and commended traditional chiefs for disseminating information to villagers. He said even when water over a bridge is shallow, it is moving fast and that exerts a strong force that will see pedestrians and vehicles being swept away.

“In Mwenenzi, Masvingo province, three houses in Ward 13 of Chingwizi area were damaged while in Zaka roofs of Muparuri Primary School in Ward 7 were blown off by the wind,” Mr Nkomo said.

The department of civil protection is erecting tents as temporary classrooms where classrooms have been damaged so that schools can re-open normally on Monday.

Mr Nkomo said most districts in Manicaland received normal rainfall although in Chiadzwa lightning struck two cows in Ward 30, Chiramba village.

In Matabeleland South, Mr Nkomo said most districts recorded normal rains except in Gwanda.

“Muchinya Primary School had its roof blown off while in Ward 19 Kafusi Primary School’s roof was also blown off by strong winds. In Mawaza village, Ward 12, an 80-year-old man was swept away and drowned while trying to cross a river in flood.”

Mr Nkomo said a number of houses were also damaged by heavy rains in Ward 17 of Simbumbu Village in Gwanda.

He said Matabeleland North and Midlands provinces saw more normal rainfall except in Zvishavane.

“Heavy rains and strong winds damaged two houses in Zvishavane’s Ward 3,” Mr Nkomo said.

He said they have not received any damage reports from Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East, Bulawayo and Harare provinces showing that they had received normal rainfall.

“In Harare, our assessment in Budiriro West showed that Marimba River is full and the bridge there has been submerged and we are continuously monitoring the situation there and in Chitungwiza where people are settled on wetlands,” Mr Nkomo said.

Meanwhile, Government has said it remains committed to prioritising increased disaster risk management including early warning systems and contingency planning to enhance the country’s preparedness.

Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo said regional and national early warning systems continue monitoring and advising them to foster readiness for all hazards associated with the current rainfall season.

Minister Moyo

“The Civil Protection Department continues to work with local authorities, traditional leaders, humanitarian and development partners, the private sector, faith-based organisations, communities and other stakeholders in saving lives and property.

“The Provincial and District Development Coordinators, local authorities, incorporating ward and village structures at the community level are encouraged to work hand-in-glove in disaster risk reduction, as has been the tradition.”

Minister Moyo thanked traditional leaders for being part of the Civil Protection Unit and upholding issues of spirituality by mediating for a calm rainfall season.

Gay Rights Activist Killed In Kenya

By- LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba has been murdered and his body was found stashed in a metal box.

He was last seen alive dancing with his friends while singing at a popular club in Eldoret on New Year’s eve.

Some in his close circle say celebrated model and later left the club with his friends to an unknown destination for a house party.

Two days later, Chiloba’s decomposing body was found stashed in a metal box on the Kipenyo–Kaptinga road in Kapsaret constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

The police have since arrested a 24-year-old Nairobi-based freelance photographer on suspicion of having a part in Chiloba’s killing.

Uasin Gishu County Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer Peter Kimulwa said the photographer arrived with Chiloba in Kimumu from Tamasha Club at 3pm.

He said there was a scuffle at the house that could have led to Chiloba’s death.

“The man was seen by neighbours loading a metal box into a vehicle that was later found to contain the body,” Mr Kimulwa said.

He added that the police are looking for two other people. The photographer is at Langas police station.

Chiloba’s elder sister Melvin Faith yesterday narrated the last moments she had with him before his body was found by a boda boda.

“I had invited my brother to Tamasha (a night joint in Eldoret) where I work to celebrate the New Year. We had fun and took selfies and short videos to usher in the New Year,” Melvin said at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

She added that her brother arrived at the club around 10 pm and left shortly after 1 am.

“I chatted with him for about 20 minutes before bidding him farewell. He left with a friend I do not know,” she said in the company of her relatives.

“All I can remember is that he told me: ‘bye sis, we shall meet again. I’ll miss you’.”

“I later tried to call him but his cell phone was off.”

She added that Chiloba, a fourth-year student at the University of Eldoret, lived in Kimumu on the Eldoret-Iten road, some three kilometres from the university.

The rider who stumbled on the body informed police officers manning the road of a vehicle he saw dumping the box before speeding off.

Last year, Chiloba survived an attack in public by unknown assailants. He was badly injured in the face.

The injuries included a large cut on his lips and bruises all over his face.

Mr Kimulwa said police have information that could lead to more arrests.

Cross-dresser

Chiloba never shied away from dressing like a woman and sharing images on social media.

The boda boda is among the people who have recorded statements with the police.

“The matter has been handed to the DCI. Detectives are on the ground conducting investigations,” Kapsaret Sub-County Police Commander John Odhiambo said.

LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba.

University of Eldoret Student President Evans Kipchumba said Chiloba was pursuing a degree course in apparel fashion and design. He was to complete his studies in April.

“He is a social and outgoing colleague and his death remains a puzzle,” Mr Kipchumba said.

In July last year, Chiloba posted photos on his Instagram pages (that were later deleted), after he was attacked ostensibly because of his activism.

On December 16 last year, he posted on Instagram: “My movement is for everyone. It’s about inclusion. And if I am going to fight what I have been marginalised for, I am going to fight for all marginalised people.”

The last Instagram message he shared on December 29 indicated that he hoped to achieve multiple goals in 2023, among them growing his fashion brand and working with big companies.

He dreamt of his work being showcased in New York and becoming a fashion icon. Chiloba was famous on the streets of Eldoret.

Chiloba’s adoptive parents Peter Pfaltzgraff and his wife Donna yesterday said his death is a big blow as they loved him.

“Our hearts are broken. Will give more details when we can share more. Please pray for us,” Donna said.

On his official Facebook account, Pfaltzgraff posted a photo of him having a light moment with Chiloba.

The image had the caption: “ Edwin we love you.”

The Pfaltzgraffs, who hail from the United States, have been the spiritual parents of Chiloba.

They frequently fly into the country as preachers of the gospel. They have been in Kenya since March last year.

Killing condemned

Instagram users, human rights activists and the civil society condemned the killing.

“Barely four months later, they have murdered you in the most uncouth of ways. My heart is shattered. I know you fought,” Biubwa-uncut posted on Instagram.

According to Biubwa, Chiloba fought for his rights boldly and his death is a blow to his fans.

“Words cannot explain the pain in my heart. We will try to fight for your justice. Best way we have access to, we will try. It’s not okay that when we die, we have to think to fight because we don’t just die. We are murdered,” the Instagram post added.

Dennis Nzioka, also an LGBTQ activist, mourned Chiloba. Amnesty Kenya demanded speedy investigations into the killing.

“No human life is worth less than another’s. Everyone has a right to dignity, respect and protection under Article 26 of the Constitution. We demand speedy investigations into the murder of Edwin Chiloba,” Amnesty said.

The Kenya Human Rights Commission called on the DCI and the Director of Public Prosecutions to conduct swift investigations and ensure Chiloba’s killers are apprehended and prosecuted.

“It is truly worrisome that we continue to witness an escalation in violence targeting LGBTQ+ Kenyans. This is reprehensible and unjust. Every day, the rights of LGBTQ+ persons are being violated with little consequence for perpetrators,” the NGO said.

According to the KHRC, the murder follows that of Sheila Lumumba – another LGBTQ activist – in April last year.

The organisation added that the killings are “evidence of a growing epidemic of violence in Kenya”.

Haki Africa, another rights organisation, said the killing was well-coordinated to silence individuals belonging to particular societies.

Being gay in Kenya can earn one a 14-year prison term. Though it is rarely enforced, members of LGBTQ community face discrimination and stigma. Efforts to decriminalise gay sex have hit a wall.

“The killing was orchestrated by individuals targeting people who do not conform their cultural practices. They must face the law,” said Haki Africa Rapid Response Officer Odhiambo Ojiro.

“The rights of citizens must be protected by all means and police should hasten investigations and arrest such criminal actors.

Pastor Beaten Up In Church

By-A United Methodist Church Reverend (pastor) escaped serious injury after congregants ushered him out of the church during a fracas involving his relatives.

Reverend Blessing Saunyama , who is in charge of the United Methodist Church’s Stream View Circuit in Chikanga, Mutare, was conducting a service when his relatives stormed the church.

Eyewitnesses told The Manica Post that Saunyama’s relatives arrived at the church around midday and demanded to be given a chance to air their grievances against the reverend.

They accused the man of the cloth of causing mayhem in the family through ungodly acts, bordering on wizardry.

Local church elders reportedly blocked Saunyama’s relatives from reaching the pulpit and they responded by shouting obscenities and threatening to assault the reverend.

The Reverend’s relatives accused him of causing the death of several family members. Said a congregant:

Rev Saunyama was whisked out of the church by congregants as the marauding group was baying for his blood.

Some are alleging that he received a few blows from the angry men, but I did not see it.

What I know is that church elders are the ones who ended up receiving beatings from the relatives who were angry that they (elders) had helped Rev Saunyama escape.

Something serious would have happened if the group had managed to corner Rev Saunyama as they were seething with anger.

Another church member said police had to be called in to quell the disturbances. She said:

They said something about having come from Mutasa or Nyanga, I do not remember very well.

They shouted obscenities and accused the reverend of causing deaths within their family.

They were just livid. Police had to be called in to quell the disturbances.

Reverend Saunyama, however, denied allegations that he was beaten up by his relatives. He said:

I was never beaten up. Nobody touched me during the disturbances. I am okay emotionally and physically.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Inspector Nobert Muzondo, said the report about the incident had not yet reached his office. | The Manica Post

Reader, before we delve into detail there is a newly mandated 13 member multi-party parliamentary ad hoc committee chaired by the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF)’s Pupurai Togarepi and composed of eight other ZANU PF members of parliament, one traditional leader, three MDC T members and one CCC representative (Prince Sibanda) which must begin work tomorrow the 7th of January before presenting its findings and recommendations to parliament on 13 January.

The parliamentarians will then debate the draft report on 17 and 18 January before making recommendations to the President on 19 January.

Here are seven highlights from my preliminary analysis of the proposed new parliamentary constituencies.

1) The delimitation formula used by ZEC is controversial. Section 161 (6) of the constitution reads that ‘no constituency or ward of the local authority concerned may have more than twenty percent more or fewer registered voters than the other such constituencies or wards.’ In line with ZEC’s (mis) interpretation of section 161 (6) of the constitution, ZEC set the maximum registered voter threshold of 33 169 and a minimum threshold of 22 112 voters for each constituency.

This was after dividing the total number of registered voters at the national level by 210 constituencies resulting in a national average of 27 640 voters per constituency. A variance from the national average was then calculated as average plus/minus twenty per cent. This is problematic because I think the correct view is that the 20% range must be calculated as average plus/ minus 10% to give a total range of 20%. Reader, in this instance variance simply means range as simply stated in the constitution not some statistical inference formula. The current ZEC formula results in a range of more than 20%. It is crystal clear that a constituency with ZEC’s maximum threshold of 33 169 will have more than 20% more registered voters than a constituency with the minimum threshold of 22 112.

To illustrate from the ZEC draft report, in Mashonaland East, Murehwa West has 32 557 registered voters which is more than 20% of registered voters in Mudzi North with 22 124 voters.

This potentially violates section 161 (6) of the constitution cited above. After all section 161 initially envisages that each constituency or ward must have an equal number of voters in line with universal principles of equal representative democracy.

2) There is a lot of gerrymandering through a less noisy maybe ‘smart’ process of reconfiguration and renaming of constituencies in the opposition strongholds. For example in Harare Province, it is clear that the new Churu and Hunyani constituencies were created from Harare South constituency which is dominated by ZANU PF. Reader, note that Harare South constituency was not collapsed. ZEC also split Epworth won by ZANU PF in a recent by election into Epworth North and Epworth South constituencies. Harare North was reconfigured and renamed to Hatcliffe constituency. ZANU PF fancies chances of winning in these recreated constituencies because it has long adopted patronage and intimidation as a technology of governance to control key periphery urban spaces dominated by informal houses, informal markets and informal tenure systems. The ‘smart’ renaming and reconfiguration also extend to Bulawayo Province where seven constituencies were reconfigured and renamed as follows: Bulawayo North, Cowdry Park, Emakhandeni-Luveve Entumbane- Njube, Lobengula-Magwegwe Mpopoma-Mzilikazi and Pelandaba- Tshabalala.

3) In terms of ‘smart’ gerrymandering, ZEC has not bothered to create a significant number of new constituencies in areas where ZANU PF has a chance to win possibly to manage opposition noise and out of political praxis borne out of the realisation that the current configuration of constituencies heavily favours the ruling party. So employing all methods to maintain the status quo might as well be analysed as silent manipulation. It is only in isolated cases like in Masvingo Province where ZEC has created a new Mwenezi North Constituency in the ruling party’s electoral area of dominance and Chiredzi central which after all might go either way given its urban characteristics that relate to opposition politics.

4) ZEC has also collapsed a few constituencies in opposition strongholds. In Harare Province, Highfield East and West have been collapsed into Highfield constituency. In Manicaland Province, Musikavanhu and Chipinge West constituencies were merged to create Chipinge West constituency. Chipinge West is currently under an opposition member of parliament. In as much as ZANU PF won Musikavanhu constituency in the previous general election it was by default. This is because the MDC A fielded two candidates who managed to split the vote. This merger will reduce prospects of the opposition to regain both rural seats in 2023.

5) In ZANU PF’s perceived areas of electoral dominance there has been little reconfiguration of constituencies. In the ZANU PF stronghold of Mashonaland central, the province retained the same 18 constituencies. The same applies to Mashonaland West Province which retained its 22 constituencies. Reader, as evidenced earlier, nothing much was also done to upset Mashonaland East and Midlands provinces deemed ZANU PF strongholds. The status quo symbolising a winning parliamentary formula for the ruling party was not bound to be interrupted.

6) On the other end, the systematic excessive renaming and reconfiguration of constituencies in the opposition stronghold is (in) advertently akin to putting the cat among the pigeons. I mean that it is likely to cause commotion among sitting parliamentarians who might want to retain their seats in competitive party primary elections. For example, Bulawayo East, Emakhandeni Entumbane, Lobengula, Makokoba, Magwegwe, Pelandaba Mpopoma and Luveve no longer exist as they are currently constituted on the electoral map. The same applies to Kambuzuma and Warren Park in Harare.

7) However, consistent with any competitive electoral system there are some icing enticements for the opposition though they are not systematic enough to tilt the parliamentary results. For example, in Harare, Budirio constituency is now split into Budirio North and Budiriro South which is an advantage to the opposition. On the other end, in Manicaland, Dangamvura was split to Chikanga and Dangamvura and the opposition has capacity to win both.

In Masvingo Province, Zaka East and Zaka West were collapsed and reconfigured to form a new Zaka South Constituency whereas Gutu South was also collapsed despite the fact that all the parliamentary seats currently belong to ZANU PF.

In Mashonaland East, a new Ruwa constituency was created and its population seems inclined to opposition politics and at the same time ZANU PF’s Chikomba Central constituency was collapsed.

In the Midlands province, Mberengwa South constituency in a ZANU PF dominated area was collapsed and replaced by the creation of a new Mkoba North constituency which should be easy fodder for the opposition.

Finally, in Matabeleland South, Bulilima East which belongs to ZANU PF was also collapsed. All this can easily placate the opposition to adopt the report as it is yet this is political theatre hybrid regimes have long mastered.

Reader, a discernible trend is that the delimitation formula, collapse of constituencies in opposition strongholds and reconfiguration and renaming of electoral constituencies seem to constitute ‘smart ‘ gerrymandering meant to tilt the 2023 parliamentary election in favour of the ruling party.

The proposed electoral boundary changes that seem to favour the opposition at surface level are not systematically designed to tilt the parliamentary election in its favour.

Without equivocation, the parliamentary electoral damage is effectively done in the draft ZEC report by the attempt to overtly not upset ZANU PF’s current electoral strongholds of Midlands and Mashonaland provinces whilst at the same time covertly and ‘smartly’ gerrymandering the opposition’s electoral significant province of Harare.

What appears like opposition gains are rather an attempt to at least give a semblance of legitimacy to the process, hoping to satisfy external as well as internal actors as is common with hybrid regimes across the world.

Relatives Fight Church Pastor During Service In Mutare

A United Methodist Church Reverend (pastor) escaped serious injury after congregants ushered him out of the church during a fracas involving his relatives.

Reverend Blessing Saunyama (pictured), who is in charge of the United Methodist Church’s Stream View Circuit in Chikanga, Mutare, was conducting a service when his relatives stormed the church.

SOUTH AFRICA: ANC Haunted By Poor Attendance At Election Manifesto Launch

The African National Congress (ANC) is trying to determine why less than half of the anticipated 100 000 people attended its election manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth over the weekend.

The ANC’s national election team, led by Nomvula Mokonyane, was expected to meet party leaders in the Eastern Cape and organisers of the manifesto launch to find out the reasons for the poor attendance.

The 46 000-seater Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was two-thirds full for the official start of the ANC’s local government election campaign on Saturday.

The ANC had claimed that more than 100 000 people would attend.

Some ANC supporters chose to stay outside the stadium and socialise with other party supporters.

Others reportedly went to the beach, instead of listening to President Jacob Zuma.

ANC Eastern Cape secretary Oscar Mabuyane told the Daily Dispatch that the party knew of members who went “to go and swim and enjoy themselves at the beach”.

The ANC had said transport was one of the main issues affecting the attendance numbers.

Mokonyane told News24 on Monday that the province was going to meet first and compile a report, before holding talks with the national elections team.

She was not too worried about the low attendance at the event.

“I’m happy, because even though we didn’t have the 100 000, by the end of the rally the police counted more than 47 000 people inside the stadium. You also had the whole programme broadcast live, so the message has been conveyed.”

She said it was concerning that some people waited for transport to the stadium until 14:30 on Saturday.

This was what they were told when they went to speak to people in the townships around Port Elizabeth.

ANC national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said the party had to ensure it did not happen again.

“We can’t change what happened over the weekend, but we need to plan better next time.

The weekend was a start of a campaign, so we don’t need such problems with transport again.

“Party members and supporters had been left waiting at bus stops and were angry it, and the party had to accept responsibility for what had happened, he said.

“We can only apologise to them.”

Zimbabweans Warned Against Abusing South African Police Property

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has warned members of the public against the unauthorised and illegal use of SAPS property.

This was after a video clip of a man who appears to be a Zimbabwean sitting behind the wheel of a marked police vehicle wearing a SAPS cap went viral on social media.

The man, who was sitting inside the SAPS car, and his colleague, who was apparently filming the incident, were speaking in Shona.

Commenting on the video, SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe warned that it was an offence for members of the public to wear police uniforms or distinctive marks of the SAPS without permission from the national commissioner.

Said Mathe:A civilian can be seen in a marked police vehicle wearing a SAPS cap.

This unauthorised use of SAPS property and uniform is in direct contravention of the SAPS Act.

The civilian has committed at least three offences in terms of the SAPS Act; Section 66 (1), 68(1) and 68(3), in that he wore the emblems and official insignia of the SAPS.

The man has thus created the false impression that he is lawfully associated with the police service by being in a marked police vehicle and wearing the badge and emblem of the SAPS, which is protected by law.

After Threatening To Crush Chamisa, VP Chiwenga Says 2023 A Year Of Peace

Acting-President Constantino Chiwenga

The year 2023 is for peace and every Zimbabwean has a role to play in ensuring peace and tranquillity are maintained ahead of elections later this year, Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has said. He made the remarks yesterday after attending a funeral mass held in honour of Pope Benedict XVI, who died at the age of 95 last Saturday. The mass was presided over by Archbishop of Harare, Robert Christopher Ndlovu.

Acting President Chiwenga said Pope Benedict XVI cherished peace, which is also cherished by President Mnangagwa who has been calling for peace in Zimbabwe all the time, but more importantly now as the nation readies for harmonised elections this year. Zimbabwe will continue to exist, well after the holding of elections, said Acting President Chiwenga, and citizens should conduct themselves in a manner that ensures peace in the country going forward. He urged winners to celebrate peacefully, while losers should also hold their heads high and prepare to contest future elections. “We have declared, and you heard His Excellency the President as way back as last year, talking of peace, love, unity and harmony and we are saying 2023 is the year of peace,” said Acting President Chiwenga.

“Every Zimbabwean must join hands (to ensure peace). An election comes and goes, but Zimbabwe still remains the same. “In any race, there will be winners, there will be losers and one must accept that. We are brothers and sisters and that does not go away whether there has been an election or not; we still remain relatives, sisters and brothers.” Pope Benedict XVI was laid to rest on Thursday at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City. His funeral was attended by world leaders and eminent people who came together to mourn the former head of the Catholic church, who gave his life to the work of God. Zimbabwe joined the rest of the world in mourning Pope Benedict XVI. Acting President Chiwenga signed a condolence book at the Vatican Embassy in Harare on Thursday.

The Acting President praised Pope Benedict XVI for his principles of humanity, peace and commitment to the work of the Lord. “Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as I said yesterday (on Thursday), he has left a legacy of being a true servant of the Lord, cherishing peace and humanity and that was his teaching and he has gone firmly with that position and so that is the legacy which he leaves,” said Acting President Chiwenga. Pope Francis’ representative in Zimbabwe, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, gave a homily at the mass held in honour of the Pope in Harare.- state media

127 Killed Over Christmas, ZRP Says

At least 127 people died while 489 others were injured in nearly 2 000 road traffic accidents recorded over the festive season. During the same time between Dec 15, 2021 and January 5 last year, 102 people died while 478 others were injured in 1 914 accidents recorded. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi said as alluded to in the police statement issued on December 27 last year, most fatal road traffic accidents involved private cars, rather than buses and trucks.

Stricter licence requirements are set for bus and truck drivers and operators of these services have been monitoring their drivers a lot more. During this festive season, 1 998 accidents were recorded of which 95 of them were fatal. “The festive period has revealed that drivers need to self-introspect and reconsider the way some are driving on the country’s roads. The bully and unruly driving conduct being shown by some drivers should stop in order to save lives on the roads. “Police reiterate that drivers must be observant and concentrate while on the steering wheel to curtail fatal road traffic accidents which have been recorded during the festive season where in some instances pedestrians were hit while standing at bus stops or walking beside the road,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

In one of the fatal road traffic accidents which occurred on December 18, 2022, an unknown motorist hit a man aged between 30 and 35 years along 12th Avenue, Bulawayo at around 2am. The victim died on the spot and the motorist did not stop after the accident. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should stop when involved in road traffic accidents, assist the injured if necessary and report all accidents to the police within 24 hours. “In another accident which occurred on 25 December 2022 at 7.45pm at the 300km peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, a motorist who was driving a Toyota Hilux vehicle with three passengers on board towards Victoria Falls, lost control of the car and veered off the road to the left, where he ran over seven pedestrians before swerving to the right side where he rammed onto a stationary Honda Fit vehicle which had six passengers on board. “The Honda Fit vehicle overturned once and landed on its roof. Similarly, on December 31, 2022 at 10am, three pedestrians were killed after they were hit by a bus which had veered off the road along Zaka-Nyika Road at the 15km peg.

“As the nation gears up for social and economic activities in the year 2023, the ZRP implores motorists to be responsible and strive to promote road safety on the country’s roads. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police will continue to deploy police officers to curb road carnage and reckless driving conduct on the roads. The police need the co-operation of motorists for road safety to be to be realised in the country,” Asst Comm Nyathi said. Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) managing director Mr Munesu Munodawafa urged drivers to be alert and cautious following an alert for heavy rains and floods issued by the Department of Civil Protection and the Meteorological Services Department. “From the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe point of view, one of the things that we want to remind Zimbabweans is to heed warnings that have been issued by the Met department of possible flooding in some areas. “We want from that call, from a road safety point of view, to appeal to drivers, whether its public service vehicles or private vehicles, to take note of possible flooding and where such instances may arise, they should desist from crossing rivers in flood even though they are familiar with the route and with the bridges. “The fact that its flooded, we appeal to the extent possible to minimise travel in those areas and to park where necessary when there are heavy rains,” he said adding that when it rains visibility becomes impaired and roads become slippery. Mr Munodawafa also appealed to drivers in urban areas to obey traffic rules and regulations especially when it starts drizzling or raining. Vehicle Inspection Department Assistant Chief Inspector for Harare province Mrs Brigete Chimhau said their officers together with the police and TSCZ will continue to maintain visibility on the country’s roads to enforce the law.

She said the VID also offers voluntary services, at a nominal fee, for motorists to have their vehicles inspected without them being impounded- state media

7 Spotlights from ZEC’s 2022 Delimitation Report

By Dr. Phillan Zamchiya (6 January 2023)

Dear Reader,
Zimbabwe’s draft delimitation report tabled in parliament today the 6th of January 2023 in line with section 161 of the constitution threatens electoral democracy in a subtle but deadly way. The report is 509 pages and has an anexure with 995 pages and maps. The report compiled by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) which is the statutory body mandated to run national elections presents the preliminary wards and 210 constituencies that can be used in the coming July/August 2023 general election if completed by 28 January 2023.

In as much as ZANU PF won Musikavanhu constituency in the previous general election it was by default. This is because the MDC A fielded two candidates who managed to split the vote. This merger will reduce prospects of the opposition to regain both rural seats in 2023.

Wife Caught Having S*x With Boyfriend

A CHEATƎD husband went bananas after allegedly arriving home to find his wife can00dling in bǝd with a teacher from a local school, on his matrimonial bed.

It was gathered that Elson Moyo Matambo from Madzivanyika Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe, Midlands province allegedly struck Mudzingwa Zinyoro with an axe on the face after he caught him playing hide the sausage game with his wifǝ Margret Chapanduka.

Zinyoro from Manyama village is said to be a teacher at Munyatipanzi Primary school.

It is reported that a raging Matambo threw a flurry of punches at the adultǝrǝrs as they lay on the bǝd in their birthday suits.

Matambo, sources told Bmetro, sensed that something was fishy after he heard weird noises that suggested someone was having intense pleasure, coming from his bedr00m.

He was sure it was his wife who was m0aning in ecstasy. His reaction was instant and decisive.

A source who declined to be named said Matambo had always suspected that his wife was chǝating on him with Zinyoro after stumbling on sleazy messages on her phone.

The source said the illicit affɑir had been going on for some time until on the day, working on a tip-off, Matambo busted them.

“After a tip off from neighbours that his wife was in the habit of hosting Zinyoro at their house during his absence, Matambo decided to catch them red-handed. He lied to his wife that he was visiting his uncle who stays in Zenda and would come back the following day,” narrated the source.

Margret exploited the opportunity and invited Zinyoro to come over and crown the night at her place.

“But as they relished the moment and at around 10pm the man of the house, Matambo suddenly arrived – like a tropical storm – to find his wife betraying him under the covers. He smothered the teacher with heavy blows and dragged him out of the bed before swinging more haymakers at him. The hapless teacher crumbled to the ground and lay still.

“Matambo, blinded by rage apparently felt the solid punches were not doing enough damage. He reached for an axe and struck Zinyoro once above the right eye. The teacher, who may have been faking unconsciousness came, sensing Matambo’s murderous intent,” explained the source.

Realising that her l0ver was staring death in the face, the source said, Margret who was pleading with her husband to stop assaulting Zinyoro, grabbed the axe and threw it away.

“A still nakǝd Zinyoro, who had made a ‘miraculous recovery’ exploited the opportunity to bolt out of the house. He left his lover at the mercy of her husband,” further explained the source.

The source said Zinyoro later approached Margret’s mother to talk to Matambo on his behalf so that he could compensate him but Matambo turned down the offer.

Contacted for comment, Zinyoro refused to entertain questions from this publication.

”Saka imi murikuda kudii apa? What do you want to do with the information?” he curtly asked before he hung up his phone.

Both Matambo and his wife could not be reached for comment as their phones rang unanswered.

Husband Finds Wife Moaning In Pleasure Having S*x With Lover

Katsimberis Goes After ‘Tatiana Aleshina’s Prosecutor Michael Reza

By A Correspondent| Harare property developer is seeking to have State Prosecutor Michael Reza recused from handling his cases saying he has vested interests in all cases where the complainant is controversial businessman Ken Sharpe’s aide Tatiana Aleshina.

Through his lawyer, Advocate Tinmudaishe Chinyoka, Katsimberis who is embroiled in a long running legal battle with his former business partner Sharpe, said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) allocates all cases where Aleshina is the complainant to Reza.

Aleshina is also a complainant in a case where she accuses Citizens Coalition for Change legislator Tendai Biti of assaulting her outside the Harare Magistrates Court.

In his submissions, Chinyoka said Reza should be recused from Katsimberis’ case because of his vested interests as shown by his handling of all cases by Aleshina.

“When I was going through this, I thought there seems to be a pattern in the NPA whereby if the complainant is someone called Tatiana Aleshina or Pokugara Properties the Prosecutor is always my learned friend and in one of the cases where they were accused persons my learned friend took over from another Prosecutor for use of withdrawing charges against these people.

“The law requires that I make an application for my learned friend to recuse himself or be recused from this case,” said Chinyoka.

Chinyoka also accused Reza of facilitating for the arrest of a state witness in a case involving Aleshina and Sharpe’s Pokugara Properties, Roy Nyabvure while he was still testifying in cases that are still pending before the courts.

“An event happened in between the last time we were here which required that I make a different application, this event is that my brother the prosecutor (Reza) facilitated the arrest of one of the witnesses we intend on calling in this case.

“He is also a witness in the other three cases with the same facts. My learned friend on the 14th of October 2022, wrote a letter to the police which letter caused the police to arrest this witness.

“In fact this letter was saying he is no longer a witness, because what happened is, the police called him to talk about this case so his lawyers wrote to the police saying he is still testifying so do you mean to interfere with the witness.

“The police then wrote to NPA to check if this was correct and my learned friend wrote to Police to say it’s not true he has finished testifying but the truth is that he has only done one case and there are three remaining, in fact he was arrested here at court,” said Chinyoka.

Reza is not new to interference in matters before the court. In 2018 he wrongfully texted Advocate Tabani Mpofu describing a Harare Magistrate who had ruled in favour of an application to have Biti’s trial livestreamed as “very stupid”.

It later emerged that the message was meant for Tabani Mpofu who was Head of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU).

Chiwenga Claims President Chamisa Supporters Killed Citizens On August 1

By A Correspondent

Still to apologise to 1 Aug 2018 victims, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga yesterday shamelessly joined the rest of the world in mourning Pope Benedict XVI, who died on Saturday aged 95.

It was on the 2nd Aug 2018, that Chiwenga told ZimEye the bullets that killed 6 victims in Harare as election results were being changed, were produced by teargas.

He also claimed that the murdered 6 people were killed by Nelson Chamisa’s hooligans, and 4 years later compensation is still to be paid despite the Motlanthe qasi court ruling that the ZANU PF government did it all.

Fast forward to this month, the dead pope was laid to rest yesterday at the St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

“Pope Benedict was known mainly for his two cardinal principles — peace and the love of humanity — and so we are motivated by that,” says Chiwenga.

The current head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, gave a homily in St Peter’s Square during the burial of his predecessor, who resigned in 2013 due to ill health and advanced age, becoming the first Pope to resign in 600 years.

Acting President Dr Constantino Chiwenga yesterday signed a condolence book at the Vatican Embassy in Harare. He described the former head of the Catholic Church as a man who gave his life to the work of God.

Zimbabwe enjoys excellent relations with the Catholic Church, dating back to the days of the liberation struggle. The church has continued to participate in several community development projects especially in the areas of health and education.

Acting President Chiwenga, himself a devout Catholic, went down memory lane, detailing the journey travelled by the late Pope from the time he went into priesthood in Germany, missionary work up to the time he was made head of the Catholic Church.

“It is sad that when someone passes we know we will never see them again, but at the same time we are celebrating his God-given lifelong calling for having been a servant of the Catholic Church and humanity at large,” he said. “Pope Benedict was known mainly for his two cardinal principles — peace and the love of humanity — and so we are motivated by that.

“I think the rest of what he has done from when he went into priesthood in Germany, his missionary work right up to when he landed in Rome at the Vatican and eventually becoming the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church, is well documented.”

In his message seen by The Herald, Acting President Chiwenga wrote: “On behalf of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to convey our most sincere condolences on the passing on of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. “Zimbabwe joins the international community in celebrating a lifelong servant to the Catholic Church and to humanity.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will always be remembered for his humility, unwavering commitment to the alleviation of the suffering of the disadvantaged segments of society, and for the advancement of peace, in accordance with the Word of God.

King Charles’s Adulterous Fling In Zimbabwe Could Get Him Dethroned – Biographer

British King Charles could be dethroned, a royal author and analyst Anthony Holden has claimed.

Holden claims the King’s confession of an affair with his then secret girlfriend, the Queen Consort, Camilla, could invalidate his coronation. He published his opinion analysis in the British Guardian newspaper saying briefly: ‘The Church of England has never crowned a divorced man as King, let alone one who has publicly confessed to adultery – with the relevant woman expecting to be crowned Queen Consort.

Cheaters…Charles and Camilla in 1979

“The late Robert Runcie [the former Archbishop of Canterbury] told me this would require a revision of the coronation oath, which would require a new statute of Parliament.’

In 1980, King Charles’ then secret girlfriend flew into Zimbabwe with him for the independence handover ceremony.

Further writes Holden:

”Given the convention that Parliament does not debate the monarchy without the monarch’s consent, this would require the Prime Minister to seek King Charles’s permission. This, Runcie told me, would amount to a constitutional crisis.’

The King met Camilla Parker Bowls in 1979 when she was a married woman, and would fly out to Rhodesia in April 1979 for the handover function after elections that put ZANU PF into power.

“Charles was secretly dating Camilla on his Zimbabwe trip,” says the late MDC Alliance MP Miriam Mushayi. – Guardian/Additional Reporting

Pachedu Rallies Opposition Legislators To Reject Delimitation Report

By A Correspondent| A cyber pressure group Team Pachedu has rallied opposition legislators to reject the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) preliminary delimitation report saying it was based on a flawed voters roll.

Team Pachedu has worked tirelessly to expose the flaws in the voters roll showing duplication of registered voters, ghost voters and abuse of residential addresses in a move that cast doubts on the credibility of elections being held in the country.

The internet based group has since warned legislators who are due to receive and debate the delimitation report beginning today the 6th of January 2023.

“The delimitation report is based on a shambolic voters roll which Zec illegally refused to avail to stakeholders since May 30 when the delimitation roll closed. The report is manifestly flawed and should be rejected in its entirety for this very reason,” said Pachedu.

Last year, countless Zanu PF aligned groupings trashed the ZEC delimitation report citing lack of wide consultation.

A group by the name Councillors4ED dismissed the report calling for the commission to use old boundaries in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Mnangagwa Wise By Selling Off Africa’s Busiest Border Post, Beitbridge to ZANU PF Businessman?

ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has technically sold off Africa’s busiest border post, Beitbridge, to controversial ZANU PF propagandist Glynn Cohen.

The details reveal Cohen has been given the struggling nation’s border toll fees for the next 17.5 years.

Cohen’s Zim Borders consortium’s chief executive officer, Mr Francois Diedrechsen, told the state media, civil works on the housing section were one month ahead of schedule. “The planned completion time is between February and March (approximately one month ahead of schedule) and civil works are at varying stages,” he said. Mr Diedrechsen said some houses are getting their final finishes while others were still under construction, pretty much what happens in any housing development. The clubhouse area has also been prepped and work has commenced in that area. Power, sewer and water reticulation services connections have been installed on some properties although not active pending the completion of major civil works.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have the accurate spent amounts at hand but what I am certain about is that we have used 80 percent of the budget for the housing development section,” said Mr Diedrechsen. He said they were expecting civil works to up the tempo when the construction industry re-opens next week following an annual shut down effected in December. Mr Diedrechsen said the border transformation had the in-port and out-of-port component and that most of these were on track for completion. In port projects were done in three phases and have all been completed, and include the freight, bus and light vehicles terminals and the Zimborders Maintenance offices, a fire suppression system, upgrading of roads among others. So far, a new state-of-the-art fire station and the sewer oxidation dam have been completed and handed over to the Government for further management. Workers are now putting final touches to the 11,4 mega litres water reservoir and animal and plant quarantine centre.

“We applaud the Government for the housing project which will ensure that we have adequate manpower to man the new-look border post,” said the Regional Immigration Officer In charge of Beitbridge, Mr Joshua Chibundu.

“A decently accommodated official is bound to work efficiently and effectively as opposed to one who doesn’t have decent accommodation. “Our officers are currently sharing accommodation, a situation that deprives them of privacy and adequately desired rest after a day’s work. The construction of the houses will go a long way in alleviating our accommodation crisis.” He said they had since made a request to their employer to deploy more workers to Beitbridge to match the border transformation. Mr Chibundu said the transformed port of entry had brought relief to travellers because traditionally there would be long queues but this festive season, they had no queues. “I applaud the Government for coming up with this infrastructure which has given our travellers the much-needed relief,” he added.

Winky D Gets Totally Furious | VIDEO

By Showbiz Reporter | It’s Mike Tyson, it’s Tyson Fury, noooo, it’s a blue cloaked beast marching into the ring. He’s breathing heavily that you can feel the heat hundreds of metres away. He paces down the carpet, and quickly flashes his white teeth. Immediately fear grips the soul. Who’s this man?

By A Correspondent | The people of Kuwadzana, Harare are some of the worst brutalised by soldiers in August 2018 when Emmerson Mnangagwa deployed the army to kill many while changing election results, and on the 4th August local clinics told ZimEye.com of how military trucks would arrive at night and officers begin assaulting residents. Being reminded of these atrocities could not be any more hurting.

Winky D’s choice of an album release within 24hrs of the anniversary of ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 3rd January threats, has been praised for allegedly resurrecting the spirit of the slain King Kaguvi on the same day . Harare Pastors Beat Each Other Up Inside Church Service

Pastors beat each other up as violence broke out inside the Christ ministries’ Belvedere, Harare, branch service, with the following narration being published by one Pastor Colin Zondai Makoni-

WATCH VIDEO…

To all Christ Ministries church pastors, elders and members. I am writing to express regret to congregants for the religious violence that took place after provocative hate speech by the master of ceremonies during the big Sunday in Belvedere yesterday. We and the perpetrators of violence were summoned at the central police station this morning. Amai Reverend Leddie Makoni, Tanakasei, Jullen Kanyenze, Eustace, Lucinah Makoni and Pastor Tafadzwa Sirewu were present. the officer in charge spoke about the need for conflict resolution at family and church level. The Zrp kopje ordered the rival factions to reconcile and maintain peace and order and resolve issues through the due processes of the law. They said that they have the power to close down the church if violence continues. They told us that no one, even the steering committee has power and mandate to chase away people from the church and can only do so by obtaining a court order since the case has been filed with the supreme court of Zimbabwe. Manchester Husband BeWitched By Wife Resurfaces To Defend Notorious Wife.

By A Correspondent | The Manchester Zimbabwean man whose wife was notorious to the point of consulting for poison to sedate him, has resurfaced to demand a rewriting of the news story that implicates the woman.

Witchcraft poison attack against husband – file

Patrick Mukanganise vanished on new years eve after his wife had obtained services of a Sangoma to poison him so that she can date a Nigerian boyfriend. A Greater Manchester Police callout the following day led to the man being found 3 days later, and Patrick has since approached ZimEye seeking to clear his wife.

“Where did you get story you posted?,” he abruptly asked without elaborating, and while not engaging for verifications to establish his identity.

He would later write to say, ” what I want you to correct is that the two incidents are not related thank you.”

ZimEye is now engaged in discussions with him to obtain which areas of the original story he wishes to correct. The first story has a compact narration of the police advertorial and a transcript of the audio messages between his wife and the Sangoma seeking to sedate him so she can bed a Nigerian lover. It also has a full clip of the wife’s confirmations that the audios are authentic.

Analysts say Mr Patrick Mukanganise needs to be protected from possible poisoning by the wife because what she did is akin to a poison attack.

Meanwhile, the original story is as follows:

By A Correspondent | An NHS nurse has confirmed that she hired a male witch to perform an attack on her husband so that she can date a Nigerian boyfriend.

The development led to her husband vanishing and Manchester Police raising an alert for his whereabouts.

Tendai Maturure is the missing Manchester Zimbabwean, Patrick Mukanganise’s wife, and her husband’s Facebook account Tuesday posted a black dot with no further detail.

Makanganise, who went missing on 30 Dec 2022, is the “victim” of a witchcraft attack (see transcript of the consultation at the bottom of the article) supposedly performed by his wife who wants him to “get stupid” so that she can date another man, according some leaked audio recordings.

The Manchester Police community appeal

While it could not be ascertained if the poster is trully Makanganise himself, several people were on Tuesday reaching out to him offering help.

“Sending love, hope you are okay,” said Kirsty Murray, while others were more direct.

“We love you isuuu,” wrote Ivy Muriva.

Another, Tendai Shona Tsopota, revealed Makanganise has been found. He wrote thanking Manchester Police saying, “wow wow thank YOU GOD,
My Jesus you’re great.
Friends and family Patrick Mukanganise is alive and well.
Thank you Greater Manchester Police ……….”

On an unknown date, a woman with the same voice as Mukanganise’s wife is heard consulting a South Africa based so called, Sekuru Tembo, and the conversation is as below.

Tendai Maturure later on Tuesday confirmed to ZimEye she is the one who consulted the said male witch Sekuru Tembo for methods of causing hurt on her husband so that she can bed a Nigerian boyfriend. (AUDIO ON ZIMEYE FB PAGE)

Sekuru Tembo: “I put your photo into the vessel. The following morning, if the tree (a mufandichimuka) is dry, if it is leafy, I will put it into a hari (pot), it means something.

Right now we can now talk.”

Tendai Mukanganise: “Good day Sekuru, you said you will put my pic into the pot, with the tree, but the issue is of this person who says he likes me, but he hasn’t proposed. So how will this work out in the future?

Sekuru Tembo: When I mean I have put the man into the sack, I mean that I will have pleaded and chanted out using his totem (African surname), so that he starts only thinking about you.

“Putting him into the sack is so that he becomes stupid, all he does is to think about you. Do you still need to understand?

Tendai Mukanganise: “I was only told by my friend that Sekuru Tembo puts someone into a sack; But I had no clue what it means. What I am asking you is so that this man who left me, must go mad, you trap him up so that his life fails for good, and this Nigerian be turned up for me (become interested in me).

Sekuru Tembo: Not a problem amaMoyo; but right now I have people knocking on my door, they want me to help them with a chidhoma matter affecting someone. I don’t know what time you go to work. Let me talk to them.”

Mnangagwa Suddenly Brings Back Death Sentence, First Victims ZANU PF Miners of Lithium

By Business Reporter | As dramatic as it sounds, the ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has restored the death sentence, abruptly, extra-judicially and prejudicially against his own party loyales. In the following video mid last month, Emmerson Mnangagwa announced ‘death sentence’ on all ZANU PF members caught selling lithium ore in Bikita, Masvingo Province. “Their days on earth have rolled back,” he says, adding to previous such threats against lawyers and doctors who attend to human rights defenders.

Mthuli Says Zim Economy To Lead Entire African Continent In 2023

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube says he remains confident that Zimbabwe’s economy will grow by 3,8 percent this year driven by strong performances in the mining, construction, agriculture and housing sectors, despite challenges such as electricity shortages and potentially uneven rainfall patterns.

Prof Mthuli Ncube said the harmonised elections expected sometime this year should not have any adverse impact on the economy. In the 2023 National Budget statement, Prof Ncube said the economy was projected grow by 4 percent last year, still high but lower than 2021, mainly due to global and domestic developments, particularly the impact of high inflation and resultant stabilisation measures on credit and demand.

This year, global economic growth is projected to moderate to 2,7 percent, down from 3,2 percent last year, but Zimbabwe is banking on strong mineral prices, among other factors, to achieve a 3,8 percent economic growth, significantly beating the global average and being among the African leaders. Global tensions, especially in Eastern Europe where Russia is conducting a special military operation in Ukraine, have caused major supply disruptions and led to historical high prices for most commodities in 2022, and these are projected to remain high in the medium term. “We are very upbeat about the outlook of the economy as I presented in the 2023 National Budget statement. “We still expect the economy to register a 3,8 percent economic growth during 2023, sustained by bullish performance in the mining, construction and agriculture, as well as accommodation sectors,” Prof Ncube said.

In line with Emmerson Mnangagwa’s New Year message, he said, focus for this year is on continuing the national economic transformation agenda by modernising, industrialising and growing the economy in the march towards the attainment of Vision 2030 of an empowered and prosperous upper middle income society. “We are cognisant of the risks ahead such as the domestic power generation constraints, potentially uneven rainfall patterns, as well as global economic uncertainties emanating from geopolitical developments and the post-Covid-19 impact on the global economy. “Notwithstanding, we are optimistic that we will achieve the 2023 macroeconomic targets as outlined in the 2023 National Budget, as Government is implementing mitigatory measures against the risks to ensure the economy remains on the desired trajectory. “It remains our aim to consolidate stability and resilience so that economic growth going forward, is achieved in a less volatile environment.” Prof Ncube said the historical volatility of GDP growth where one or two years of high growth are interrupted by a year or two of low or negative growth, militate against the long-term compounding of annual growth rates and sustained growth to achieve Vision 2030 targets, which require consistent and stable annual growth rates of above 5 percent. To ensure economic growth targets are achieved, Zimbabwe is addressing electricity supply issues after generation levels declined considerably due to low water levels at Kariba Dam and frequent breakdowns and logistical challenges at Hwange Power Station.

Electricity shortages are affecting the entire SADC region, with Zambia announcing on Wednesday that it would increase load shedding to 12 hours a day due to low water levels at Kariba Dam which they share with Zimbabwe. The two countries are now having to use just the inflows into the lake, in a low flow month, having exhausted the stored flood waters. The Zambezi never runs dry, but at the moment what flows over the Victoria Falls is what flows into the largest power station in each country. The Maamba Collieries Limited Plant’s 150MW generator was also taken out for routine annual maintenance from January 4 to 20, worsening the electricity situation in Zambia. Prof Ncube said the power situation in the SADC region was compromising electricity sharing through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). However, he said, the Government has mobilised resources to secure additional imports from Electricidade de Moçambique of Mozambique and other SAPP members with surplus to support the current power supply, assisting in reducing load shedding. “Efforts will be made to secure additional imports while work is underway to ramp up domestic production at Hwange Power Station and other small thermal power stations, complemented by Independent Power Producers initiatives. “Recently, Government announced an Implementation Agreement to expedite the commissioning of 27 solar IPP installations with potential to generate over 900MW. “The GIA includes a project development support agreement, a power purchase agreement, and an agreement with the RBZ for guaranteed payments of dividends and foreign loan repayments to external investors and lenders,” said Prof Ncube. Much of this IPP generation would be solar, which can be implemented quickly once the investor is willing to move. The extra power during the day would allow Zesa to store more water while the sun shines to use in the power station at night.

Turning to the expansion of Hwange Power Station where two new Units, 7 and 8, will generate an additional 600MW, Prof Ncube said the Government “is working tirelessly” to ensure the completion of the project. “To date, it is pleasing to see that the technical tests are progressing well and Zesa expects the first additional 300 megawatts from Unit 7 soon,” he said. Prof Ncube said the Government will continue to ensure price and exchange rate stability which has come about as a result of deliberate interventions such as the enforcement of value for money on all Government contracts, introduction of gold coins to mop up surplus liquidity and offer an honest alternative store of value. Treasury has also increased the bank rate to positive real interest rates, as well as a cocktail of other measures introduced by both Government and the Central Bank during the course of last year. Some economists claim that the stability would be eroded once the Government starts paying all contractors who are undertaking infrastructure development. But Prof Ncube said: “Let me set the record straight, Government is paying all its suppliers after the validation exercise while re-negotiations were undertaken on overpriced contracts. Therefore, the current stability cannot be attributed to non-payment of suppliers. The value for money exercise is meant to ensure that supplies to Government are correctly priced in the public interest and to ensure that overpriced goods do not adversely impact the exchange rate and inflation stability.”

When value for money was enforced, around 70 percent of contractors were quickly able to establish their credentials and were paid, so the delays only affected 30 percent. In respect of the auction rate system for foreign currency, Prof Ncube said it was always a stepping stone towards a market determined exchange rate as part of the broad macroeconomic reforms, hence the introduction of the willing-buyer willing-seller exchange rate system. During the year, the auction rate, used for bulk imports, came into alignment with the interbank market rate. Prof Ncube said they have already re-affirmed their commitment to refine the current auction system to enhance efficiency through further liberalisation of the market as outlined in the 2023 National Budget. “This was further buttressed by the resolution of the Monetary Policy Committee in December 2022,” he said. Asked if the anticipated harmonised elections will not negatively affect economic stability, Prof Ncube said Government operations were “autonomous of the political calendar”.

“We have already set the economic agenda through the 2023 National Budget outlining projected economic growth, supporting policies and programmes. A budget has been allocated to priority areas including the harmonised elections. “Instead, the holding of elections has the potential of enhancing economic activities as political parties and contestants spend their resources through campaigns and related activities,” said Prof Ncube. Zanu PF’s 7th National People’s Congress held at the end of October last year overwhelmingly resolved that President Mnangagwa be the party’s presidential candidate following a realisation that the infrastructural development projects he initiated needed to be completed while new ones are started. Presently, the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport is being modernised while about 171km remain to be rehabilitated on the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge highway after 400km were completed and opened to traffic. Other projects include the game-changing Lake Gwayi Shangani construction, the expansion of Hwange Power Station, construction of many dams such as Muchekeranwa, the Dinson Steel project in Manhize, and the modernisation of the Beitbridge Border Post.

Still To Apologise To 1 Aug Victims, VP Chiwenga Shamelessly Mourns Pope

“I think the rest of what he has done from when he went into priesthood in Germany, his missionary work right up to when he landed in Rome at the Vatican and eventually becoming the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church, is well documented.” In his message seen by The Herald, Acting President Chiwenga wrote: “On behalf of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to convey our most sincere condolences on the passing on of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the Catholic Church during this time of great pain and grief. “May the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI rest in eternal peace. In this period of sadness and sorrow, please accept the assurances of our highest consideration.” Pope Francis’ representative in Zimbabwe, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, said the Church is honoured by the visit of the Acting President to commiserate with them. “We feel honoured by the presence of the Acting President on behalf of President Mnangagwa and at the moment we give grace to the Lord for the long life of Pope Benedict XVI. “It is a moment of grief but also of gratitude as Pope Francis said for all the life of Pope Benedict XVI has been for the church,” Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Rudelli.

Zanu PF Mourns Party Cadre

ZANU-PF provincial member, Silos Magodyo who once acted as Chief Sinakoma of Binga between 1998 and 2011 has died at the age of 51 and has been declared a liberation hero.

Magodyo died on December 24 in Binga and was buried this morning at Binga cemetery.

Announcing Magodyo’s liberation hero status, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu said: “The President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa has conferred liberation hero status to the late Cde Silas Magodyo.”

At the time of his death, Magodyo who is a former District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Secretary for Commissariat, was the party’s provincial secretary for the disabled and disadvantaged persons in Matabeleland North province.

He was born on 5 June 1971 in Mataala village under Chief Sinakoma and did his primary education at Nsenga Hill Primary School between 1978 and 1984, and attended Binga High School between 1985 and 1986 for ZJC.

After school, Magodyo was a Campfire resource manager in the Binga Rural District Council between 1990 and 1993.

From 2002 to 2004 he was a ward coordinator in Sinakoma ward 5 for the Ministry of Youth, and became ward youth officer from 2008 until 2018 when he officially retired.

After retirement he continued with the positive spirit of serving the ruling party Zanu-PF and Government.

Most of his years in formal employment coincided with his appointment as chief regent from 1998 to 2011.

Magodyo started political activism as a youth under Zapu in Binga in 1985.

He was the Binga district command centre chair for the 2005 parliamentary elections and was chief elections agent for the party’s candidate Cde Joe Mudimba during the 2008 elections.

Between 2004 and 2008 Magodyo served as Zanu-PF DCC Secretary for Commissariat.

He was provincial secretary for the disabled and disadvantaged persons in Matabeleland North province between 2021 and 2022.

The party leadership said it had lost a self-motivated and hardworking cadre who had a good understanding of political history, ideology, and vision for independence of African states from colonial bondage, as he worked selflessly to ensure Africans ruled themselves.

Horror As Mutoko Man Kills Own Parents

POLICE in Mashonaland East Province have arrested Clemence Mukuwatsine (45) of Nyarugwe Village, Mutoko for allegedly killing his parents using a hoe handle following a family misunderstanding on Tuesday.

Allegations are that Stephen Mukuwatsine (72), his wife Elizabeth Kamhoti (67) and their daughter were at home in the area under Chief Mutoko discussing a marriage dispute between their son Clemence (45) and his wife.

After the discussion, it is reported that Clemence Mukuwatsine went to work in a nearby groundnuts field while his father remained.

At around 10am, Clemence Mukuwatsine’s sister went to the groundnuts field intending to invite her brother for breakfast, but he charged towards her, blaming her for bewitching him. He allegedly struck his sister with bricks, once on the back of the head and once on the left elbow.

Their father intervened, holding a hoe handle while his sister retreated to the house where her mother was.

Mukuwatsine then snatched the hoe handle from his father and struck him several times on the forehead and face until he fell unconscious. Still holding the hoe handle, he then allegedly charged towards his mother Elizabeth, who was in the sitting room.

He allegedly accused her of hiding his sister in the house while striking her several times on the forehead and face until she became unconscious.

Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East Province Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi said Mukuwatsine was later stopped by a passer-by who intervened and tried to stop him from further assaulting his mother. He then chased this passer-by who ran towards nearby homesteads calling for help.

“Villagers managed to apprehend the accused and locked him in his house. A report was made at ZRP Mutoko leading to the arrest of the accused person. The two bodies were conveyed to Mutoko District hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

“People should learn to resolve disputes in peace. They can also seek counselling from community leaders or use the Police Victim Friendly Unit or church leaders so that they resolve their issues amicably, rather than resort to committing serious crimes,” said Insp Chazovachiyi.

They told us that no one, even the steering committee has power and mandate to chase away people from the church and can only do so by obtaining a court order since the case has been filed with the supreme court of Zimbabwe. We the dissenting voices have the right to attend church services and participate in the church program s without victimization. Pastor Sirewu was summoned to go and brief his followers about this position. If the church elders have any bone of contention with us let them use the proper legal channels and not use violence. Finally, the perpetrators of violence were fined and they paid an admission of guilt. We have also been given supporting documents to go for medical examinations after the assault. This police will begin their investigations and call witnesses who had attended the church service. The police will be attending church services to maintain law and order starting this Sunday. This is the current state of affairs. Yours Sincerely, Colin Zondai Makoni Senior Pastor Christ Ministries church

In a brief statement posted on Facebook, the CCC leader called for unity of purpose in the struggle for change.

“WHAT I SEE..I see victory. I see change. I see prosperity. I see freedom. I see dignity back. I see happiness.

I see everything brand new. I see a New Great Zimbabwe! I see HIS hand and His word.

Let’s join hands and make this beautiful country that best place.Prayer works! #Isee,” said President Chamisa.

“Hands Off Winky D”

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC youth taskforce spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has condemned the harassment and victimisation of Winky D by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

According to Chuma, Winky D is the voice of suffering citizens.

See below the CCC official’s argument:

A ZANU PF shadowy outfit by the name EEG (whatever that means) are a danger to the ghetto. They want Winky D to be banned for singing about very issues affecting us everyday. @winkydonline is simply amplifying our voices in the ghetto.

In 1977, Ian Douglas Smith banned Thomas Mapfumo songs and later on jailed him for 90 days.

In 2023, ED Mnangagwa through EEG announced they intend to ban Winky D. Mapfumo was a voice of masses against colonialism. Winky D is a voice of citizens against corruption and poverty.

School Head Sends N*des To Married Assistant

A HIGHFIELD school head has come under fire after sending his nudǝ picture to his marriǝd personal assistant.

James Mukwirimba, the headmaster of Kudzanayi Primary School, clashed with the woman’s husband, Crispen Zhou, after he saw the picture in messages sent to Privilege Zhou.

Privilege resisted Mukwirimba’s ƨǝxual advances and showed Crispen the messages.

Crispen took up the matter with the Provincial Director of Education.

Mukwirimba confirmed sending the nudǝs to his personal assistant.

“It’s a long story my brother,” said Mukwirimba.

“It is true that the nudǝ photograph is mine, I am the one who sent it to Crispen, not his wife (personal assistant).

“We had a quarrel whereby Crispen was accusing me of dating his wife and he called me names.

“Out of anger, I told him that handidanane nemukadzi wako asi iwe ndiwe wandingatoita mukadzi.

“Following that heated argument, I sent him the nudǝ photograph, but I now regret it because he went on to post it to several people, who include my girlfriend.

“Crispen approached my bosses over the matter, and Privilege applied for a transfer, but later withdrew the application,” said Mukwirimba.

He told H-Metro that Crispen ended up demanding money over the issue.

“This incident happened sometime last year, and Crispen took it to the province.

“We were called and agreed to settle the matter. Crispen went on to sign an affidavit that he would not take up the case further.

“He demanded US$500 for sending the photo to his wife, and I refused to pay. That is why he is pursuing it.

“It’s like he is after extorting me,” said Mukwirimba.

Mukwirimba’s alleged girlfriend is a Grade 7 teacher at the same school, Otilia Nyakabawu.

Crispen told H-Metro that he descended heavily on Mukwirimba after seeing the nudǝ picture since he wrecked another couples marriage before.

“Mukwirimba is a pervert,” said Crispen.

“He wrecked one of the teachers’ marriage and wanted to do the same to mine.

“I want to thank my wife for exposing him, and I took the matter to his bosses.

“He was bǝdding a married student teacher, and her marriage ended,” said Crispen.

Privilege confirmed the matter, saying she is feeling the heat from both ends about the matter.

“I have a lot to say about Mukwirimba,” said Privillage.

“I am under pressure both from home and at work.

“Mukwirimba is my boss, and Crispen is my husband, so the heat is too much to say the least,” she said.

Otilia confirmed dating Mukwirimba and said Crispen sent the nudǝ to her just to expose them.

“Crispen sent Mukwirimba’s nudǝ after learning about our affair,” said Otilia.

“I am not sure about Mukwirimba’s marital status although he looks like a married man. Unongozivawo kuti haungabvunzisise boss wako.”

Violent Bouncers Denied Bail; Magistrate Says They Are A Danger To The Public

By-Two violent Harare bouncers, arrested for allegedly attacking patrons at Pabloz Night Club, Sam Levy Village, Borrowdale, on 22 December 2022, have been denied bail.

Gideon Sanyangore (32) and Blessing Kumunda (36), appeared before Stanford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrate Court on Thursday for bail hearing.

In his ruling, Mambanje said Sanyangore and Kumunda were not eligible for bail, citing their violent nature. Said Mambanje:

Thus according to the State, the interests of the public will be undermined if the two accused are released on bail as they have been causing havoc for a long time now and they are likely to interfere with witnesses since they had already displaced violent behaviour before.

The applicants are facing a serious charge of attempted murder…I also can’t ignore the fact that the accused ran away from the scene and went on for days without being located.

I cannot ignore these facts because you can’t go about stabbing people and expect the issue to go unchecked.

It was pressure from the social media videos that drove them to hand themselves over to the police… social media launched an outcry to have the two arrested after their notorious ways went viral.

Sanyangore and Kumunda remain detained until 31 January 2023.

Pretoria Woman Pays Tribute To Horse Which Died After Stepping On Live Electric Connection

Durban – A Pretoria woman paid a heartfelt tribute to her horse, who died after stepping on a live electricity connection two days before Christmas.

Ansie Pretorius’s teenage daughter Zeldine had been riding her horse Kernel when the tragic incident occurred.

According to News24, Zeldine and her friend had been riding in the Onderstepoort area on a new trail.

Kernel stepped on an exposed live power cable, and both felt the electric shock, News24 reported.

The horse collapsed and died, while Zeldine felt the electricity going through her body, News24 further reported.

The teenager’s one leg was stuck under her horse, but her friend managed to free her.

In addition, Pretorius told News24 that she had tried to open a criminal case following the incident at two police stations but was turned away and referred to the SPCA.

National police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo told IOL that an internal investigation would be conducted to establish why the case was not opened and why the police were not available for the cable removal operation.

“If a police officer is found to be wrong, the departmental step will be taken against that police officer or officers. We urge the victim to go to the nearest police station and open a case.”

City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo told IOL police requested the City’s revenue protection unit to assist in the removal of the cables, which was done on the 23rd of December (after the incident).

He also confirmed that: “GPG (Gauteng Provincial Government) rescue phoned me at home requesting assistance on a scene where a horse rider and horse were electrocuted. Station 2 was dispatched and, on arrival, found a minor female and a horse was electrocuted by an electrical cable used for illegal connections. Cape Town Resident Reports Pitbull Owner For Terrorizing Neighborhood

Cape Town – A frustrated Hout Bay resident has lodged a complaint with the police about a man, who he says is a “pit bull terroriser” and responsible for several attacks in the community.

Hout Bay Security manager and officer, and resident, Fareed Hoosen, who was recently bitten by the dog, said the matter has been reported to the police.

“This guy used to sell puppies for a time and we brought a stop to that. Now he has the pit bull, which he uses to intimidate people and to force them to give him money,” Hoosen said.

“He demands that you give him money and if you don’t he sets the dog on you. We also received information that he was using the pit bull to rob homeless people at night.

“I had spotted him and told him to move along and as I did he turned around and put the dog on me. I didn’t have my bullet-proof jacket on and the dog bit me on my stomach area.”

Hoosen said a complaint was lodged at Hout Bay SAPS.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

“Hout Bay police are investigating an assault to cause grievous bodily harm after a dog was set on a security guard in Victoria Road, Hout Bay on January 1,” he said.

This comes as the National Freedom Party (NFP) has called for more stringent legislation which either bans or places restrictions on pit bulls as pets in South Africa.

There has been an increase in the number of deaths from pit bull attacks in recent months.

NFP MP Ahmed Munzoor Shaik Emam, said the party wanted to ensure that pit bull attacks came to an end.

Apostolic Sect Girl Dies After Giving Birth At Home In Buhera

A 14-year-old girl from the Johane Marange apostolic church  died on Tuesday a few days after giving birth at home in Buhera, NewsDay can report.

Family relative and lawyer Norris Johannes told NewsDay that Delight Masomeke of Bvumbura Village in Chivhu gave birth to a baby girl on December 29, 2022 at Masasa in Buhera, but died three days later.

“The deceased is said to have given birth to a baby girl on December 29, 2022 and remained unwell until she succumbed to (an undisclosed) illness yesterday (Monday),” Johannes said.

“Her mother Nelia Matarirano is my sister, but the family was not aware that the girl was married.

Plastic Drivers’ Licences Discs To Be Issued Soon

By A Correspondent- Transport and Infrastructural Development Permanent Secretary Engineer Theodius Chinyanga has announced that Zimbabwe might get its plastic driver licence discs sooner than expected.

The plastic discs which are said to have security features that will make them difficult to forge are expected to be issued out early this year. Another added advantage is that they will be machine-scannable to ascertain their authenticity.

In his statement Chinyanga is quoted saying:

“In compliance with the International Organisation for Standardisation and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 18013 standards on driver’s licences, the ministry applied for the Issuer Identification Number, which uniquely identifies CVR as the issuing authority in Zimbabwe, across all ISO member states.

“The IIN was issued in November 2022,” he said.

“The ministry has since encoded the IIN on the card design and submitted to SADC, who are currently reviewing it.”

Chinyanga denoted that while waiting for the review process the ministry has already started the production of the materials needed such as ink, ribbon and foil.

This explains why those who are presently passing driving tests at the Vehicle Inspection Department depots are being issued with temporary paper driver’s licences.

Lecturer Accused Of Wrecking Marriages

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean university lecturer has dragged a traditional leader to court for accusing him of proposing love to married women in Chigodora.

Ranganai Njodzi, a Computer Science lecturer at a local university, is accused of destroying marriages in the peri-urban area of Chigodora and pampering the wives with chickens.

The lecturer is also accused of assaulting the women’s husbands and leaving them for dead.

This was revealed recently after Njodzi dragged Village head Gosho whose real name is Denford Zimunya to Headman Chigodora’s court.

Njodzi accused Gosho of soiling his image in the community through what he described as unfounded allegations. He said:

Gosho called for a meeting at his homestead and told the gathering that I was a marriage wrecker and robber.

He instructed the people to attack me with stones and I now fear for my safety because these people are baying for my blood.

They no longer want me in the area because of the instructions they got from their community leader, yet I am not a marriage wrecker.

He has tarnished my image in the community. I work at a local university and some of my students stay in the area. They no longer respect me because of the allegations.

This man (Gosho) hates me, a reason why he wants to destroy my good social standing.

Njodzi challenged Gosho to bring forward witnesses who can confirm that he had proposed love to married women.

Gosho said he had witnesses, adding that the husbands and their wives refused to attend the court out of fear of victimisation. He said:

I have witnesses. He is in the habit of proposing love to married women and pampers them with chickens.

When the women’s husbands confront him over the issue, he assaults them.

He even stripped naked one of the husbands before assaulting him. The man fled and hid in the graveyard.

The village head said he was about to expel Njodzi out of his area saying he doesn’t accept marriage wreckers.

However, Headman Chigodora criticised Gosho for tarnishing Njodzi’s image before establishing the truth. He said:

Instead, after hearing the allegations, you hurriedly convicted Njodzi in his absence and ordered people to stone him. You were wrong and should rectify your mistake.

We do not know whether he is womaniser or not, but he needs to be given a chance to present his side of the story.
