The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the province say they cannot reveal the names of the family members that were brutally murdered.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said in a statement on Saturday, 25 December 2021:

The victims of the Christmas killing are four children and three adults, including a heavily pregnant woman. Just hours after the savage killing, police say the man then handed himself in. As to the motive for the murders, it isn’t yet clear. Added Jones:

The suspect was later arrested after he handed himself over to the police in Thohoyandou. The firearm that was allegedly used in the shooting was also seized. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but family feud cannot be ruled out.

This comes just weeks after the bodies of several family members were discovered at a plantation in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The bodies were badly burnt and severely decomposed. The victims included a one-month-old baby and a two-year-old toddler.

Headmaster In Trouble As Parents File Police Report For Stolen Property

CHIPINGE – Parents at Chimana Primary School in Ward 19 Chipinge have reported their head Farai Dzanga to Police over missing property including some donated by Plan International

The case was reported at Mandere Police Station under case number CR52 on July 16 2020 and there are claims that some of the property was found at Dzanga’s house. Also implicated in the case is the school’s former clerk Paul Yohane.

Dzanga professed ignorance over the matter when contacted for a comment by Chipinge Times.

“What is missing at the school? I am not aware of that,” he said before hanging up.

However, the District Schools Inspector Richard Gabaza is said to have recently sent the District Account Maxwell Dumba to the school to carry out some investigations.

Gaabaza told Chipinge Times that he was aware of the case.

An SDC member who declined to be mentioned said that there were many things that were missing

from the school and it was now difficult to account for everything because some documents are missing.

” We did physical count and found out that some of the missing items included asbestos sheets, spades, hoes, pick and trowels.  We tasked teachers to look for the missing items but they failed. We then recovered shovels, racks and a Samsung at one of the houses. We recovered slushes and uniforms which Plan International donated,” said one member.

The parents complained against lack of progress after the matter was handed over to the Police and to relevant Ministry of Education authorities.

“Firstly the district accountant must assess the situation. If he sees that he can not handle it he then recommend for auditors. We always dispatch auditors and Dumba went there and he is working on that. The matter was also reported to Police,”  said Gabaza.

Military, Zim’s Single Decisive Factor In Politics

By Sapien Sapien| The opprobrium that characterised the rebuke of remarks made by Chief Murinye by the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Dr Constantino Chiwenga exemplifies the reality around the power matrix in Zimbabwe.

The Vice President was forthright in his rebuke, reading the riot act to the gathered chiefs and indicating who indeed calls the shorts insofar as the power puzzle in Zimbabwe is concerned.

This monologue shall not in any way attempt to take a deep dive into the politics behind the political dynamics especially around Zanu-PF politics but essentially shall attempt to locate the pivot of power in Zimbabwe’s intricate political web.

It is beyond any iota of doubt in Zimbabwe that the institution of the military plays a decisive factor in the politics of the country.

Numerous “clever” politicians have attempted to suggest and insinuate about something they call “security sector reform” or “reform of the military” yet history is laden with case innuendoes of where the military in Zimbabwe has decided the trajectory of politics, to a point of reforming the behaviour of political actors.

It is foolhardy for one to resist to note this overt truth, a truth that is so “loud to see” and “big to hear”, if ever English words can be played around in such a fashion, just to prove how this institution plays a central role in the politics of the country.

The Zvinavashe Doctrine, pronounced in early 2000 (which begins with words, “We want to make it abundantly clear that the military will not salute anyone without liberation credentials”)  shows a decisive inclination in values and prove the unbridled fact that the military in Zimbabwe at least thus far, is, and remains, the  single most important institution insofar as the statecraft of the country is concerned.

A dedicated attempt at revisionism was tried and collapsed in spectacular fashion in November 2017 as was noted by events that proved that the remarks by founding Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe, that “the politics leads the gun” was just a mirage of epic proportions.

Definitely, the “human rights and democracy” brigade will tend to look at my characterisations herein as being “undemocratic” and the usual yada but what is of pragmatic importance is the fact that I am looking at history and how it has been defined by the military in this country.

This country can even be traced back to the time of the Rozvi State or even events post-Mfecane in the Zulu State there before the migration by Mzilikazi into modern-day Zimbabwe.

The Pioneer Column had to be conceived to compel sons and daughters of the soil to capitulate to the whims and caprices of the British Colonial company, British South Africa Company. The Anglo-Ndebele and the First Chimurenga Wars were military escapades that sought to define who held the political gravitas to control the land between the Zambezi and the Limpopo rivers.

Take for instance, the Rhodesian setup. Ian Smith depended upon supremacist elements within the Rhodesian security system, primarily the military, who promised him that a war of attrition against the Maoist-trained liberation war fighters was going to be enough to guarantee the longevity of the Rhodesian Utopian idea and as such Smith fallacious idea, that “there shall never be black majority rule in Rhodesia, not in a thousand years!”

Events on the ground proved that indeed, Smith together with his extremist ceremonial presidents that included Clifford Dupont before his demise, believed in the supremacy of the Rhodesian military might. This belief in the supremacy of the military has seen subsequent generations of Zimbabwean leaders putting faith and trust in this extremely important national institution.

This is the same with what we we have in the US, though the Americans pretend to be clever homo sapien sapiens by misinforming and misleading that it is something they call democracy that reigns supreme instead of aspirations of the Pentagon yet it does not need expertise in decoding complex algorithms to observe that the US military infrastructure decides what the dudes at White House announce as foreign policy at each and every four year cycle.

Politics of the modern era is punctuated by chicanery, subterfuge and gross deceit. Machiavellian scheming reigns supreme whilst the art of “winning without fighting” as recommended by Sun Tzu still remains valid to this day.

The institution of the Chiefs in Zimbabwe, itself already punctuated by lack of cohesion as was depicted by cacophony of voices that emanated from different angles post-pronouncements by Chief Murinye and subsequent rebuttal by VP Chiwenga, is subordinated to the whims and caprices of politicians.

This is a painful reality that numerous observers have attempted to skirt around. The fact that Chief Fortune Charumbira distanced himself from remarks made by Chief Murinye proves that some behind the scene shenanigans or, essentially, outright rogue posturing is rampant within that institution.

One thing must be made clear to all and sundry; hate them or like them, these politicians of ours are ahead of our time and he, whose ideals and values resonate with the aspirations of the military, is guaranteed to be at the helm of leadership of this country. Definitely, watchers are now waiting to notice and evaluate how Chief Murinye is going to wean himself off this potential zugzwang scenario but one thing is clear, it no longer is business as usual.

This minor digression does not take away the crux of this submission which essentially is to the effect that the military remains the single most decisive factor in Zimbabwean politics and remarks by Chief Murinye to have a replication of November 17, 2017 events definitely can and indeed do send shivers to many a political analyst.

Fuel Prices, Power Cuts Throw Baking Sector Into Disarray

Zimbabwe’s baking sector has been thrown off balance by escalating fuel prices and deadly power cuts that have recently rattled the economy.

So dire is the situation that some baking industry executives told the Zimbabwe Independent this week that consumers should brace for price hikes in the coming months to guarantee a flawless supply.

However, the National Bakers Association of Zimbabwe (NBAZ) said yesterday that for the festive season, the industry had enough stocks of wheat to meet demand.

This is the latest in a series of warnings by key industries in the past few months that Zimbabwe’s prolonged energy crisis could reverse significant progress towards economic recovery reported by most sectors in the final quarter of 2021.

In the past few weeks, the power crisis that returned to haunt domestic and industrial consumers mid-year has intensified, with companies enduring prolonged power cuts that have grounded production and exerted fresh pressures on an economy already struggling to shake off the effect of Covid–19 induced hard lockdowns.

In an interview with the Independent, NBAZ president Dennis Walla said authorities must immediately intervene to make sure bakers access Zimbabwe dollar-priced fuel.

Fuel available on the market is generally being traded in United States dollars because importers with free funds have been given the greenlight to bring in the fuel and trade in foreign currency.

But to assist companies that mostly sell their products in the free-falling Zimbabwe dollar, the government had undertaken to provide local-dollar-priced fuel, which they were expected to access and sustain operations.

This plan has generally failed, and bakers, along with several other industries facing a similar predicament, say they have been over-stretched by high costs.

Zimbabwean firms use their local dollars to purchase foreign currency on the black market at extortionist rates, so that they can  purchase US-dollar-priced fuel and other requirements.

“We have been promised Zimbabwe-dollar-priced fuel, which was going to be a good move when it comes to doing business,” Walla told the Independent this week.

“We have not yet accessed that fuel. What is available to us now is the US-dollar-priced fuel. And this becomes expensive for the sector to operate full throttle. We cannot go to the foreign currency auction system and say we want forex to buy fuel. This is a (big) cost driver and this needs to be addressed,” Walla added.

The high energy costs have compounded an already difficult situation for bakers and other industries, who have recently seen a significant rise in utility costs by up to 300%. Walla said the other challenge was unavailability of electricity. He said the sector could provide backup power through diesel power generators.

But apart from troubles in accessing the fuel, this was an expensive option.

“The other challenge we are facing is that we are having electricity blackouts for many hours and this turns to affect us because electricity is key in the sector and we can’t continue to rely on backup generators as it is too expensive and this might impact bread prices,” he said.

In its state-of-industry report released two weeks ago, the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) also raised fears over the energy crisis.

“Electricity is one of the main enablers of economic activities in any business environment,” the ZNCC said.

“Zimbabwe’s rank of 167 (in a global study of doing business costs) and score of 48,6 show the extent to which the country’s performance on this component is very poor and discouraging to any potential investor, both local and foreign investors. The best performers in the SADC region are Mauritius with a global rank of 28 (and score of 88) followed by Namibia (ranked 76 and score of 78,3) and Tanzania with a rank of 85 and a score of 74,9. Zimbabwe is characterised by erratic power supplies especially during the winter period where agricultural activities such the winter wheat crop will be at its most critical stage.

During this critical period, electricity is prioritised to the agricultural sector leaving other sectors without energy. Although electricity tariffs are among the lowest in the Southern African Development Community region, electricity supply has been the average business person’s worst nightmare. Erratic power supplies have resulted in huge losses for most businesses over the years due to interrupted operations, lost time and revenue, damage to machines and lost data,” the ZNCC said.

The country has off-late seen various price hikes ranging from fuel and basic commodities such as bread.

In October this year, wheat producers hiked prices by 16% per metric tonne, which is likely to trigger increases in the prices of flour and bread.

The price of imported wheat went up to US$510 from US$440 per tonne, according to the NBAZ.

A loaf of bread already costs between ZW$160 and ZW$175 as the prices continue skyrocketing, with the baking sector predicting that there would be another increase to cover the rising costs.

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has reviewed the price of fuel upwards several times since the beginning of the year citing an increase in oil prices on the international markets.

Teenagers Escape Death By A Whisker As Scotch Cart Gets Electrocuted

Two teenagers from Plumtree escaped death by a whisker after their donkey-drawn scotch cart came into contact with a live electricity cable.

The two boys aged 17 and 15, did not suffer any injuries while two of the donkeys died on the spot while one survived.

The incident occurred at a business centre in Goba, Mangaramu village.

The two teenagers were later taken to the clinic where they were given injections and tablets.

The owner of the scotch cart, Emody Dube, told CITE in an interview that the two boys were taking his daughter-in-law to the hospital when tragedy struck.

Dube said the live electricity cable has been hanging low for close to a week.

“My daughter-in-law is not feeling well so I asked the boys to take her to the hospital. Her husband is in South Africa. They took the cart which was being pulled by three donkeys,” said Dube.

“That cable has been hanging for almost a week now and it is about seven meters above ground. With all that space in-between I don’t understand how the donkeys came into contact with it.”

Dube implored Zimbabwe Electricity and Transmission Company (ZETDC) to attend to such faults timeously in order to curb such tragedies from happening.

“Right now I have lost two of my donkeys, the ones I was using for farming. It is the rainy season now there is a lot of fieldwork. Who is going to compensate me? We have no transport at this part of the village. We rely on carts. How am I going to get by now? This is a huge setback for me,” he said.

Gift Amuli Releases ‘Love Life’

By A Correspondent| Zvishavane-based artistes, Gift Amuli, Goda Moyo and Tawanda Tobaiwa, on Thursday released a festive campaign song titled ‘Love Life’.

The smash hit was produced by Master Flex while the video was produced by Great Dyke Productions and CM Studios. It encourages Zimbabweans to shun violence and stop road carnage and all forms of abuse.

The song is the centerpiece of a campaign dubbed #Love Life-Preserve Humanity that urges Zimbabweans to introspect and find within themselves the values of love for life, peace and harmony.

It speaks out against gender based violence, the violent culture among artisanal and small scale miners and the growing menace of substance abuse which is taking root among the country’s youths.

The song was motivated by observations that cases of road carnage, violence and abuse are rising with a consequential rise in loss of life in local communities.

The musicians reckon that by loving life, individual members of society, and the society as a collective can stop unnecessary deaths and preserve humanity.

The # Love Life campaign is being held in partnership with Mimosa, the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe and Friendship Bench.

Kazembe Kazembe Accused Of Leaking Party Secrets

Minister of Home Affairs who is also ZANU PF Mashonaland Central provincial chairperson Kazembe Kazembe reportedly leaked Politiburo deliberations to villagers in Rushinga  in a bid to entice voters to vote for him in the upcoming party provincial elections.

In a desperate bid to retain the chairmanship  Kazembe called one of his trusted lieutenants in Rushinga party District Co-ordinating Committee (DCC) member Cletous Ranganai Chiminyu to inform villagers that they should vote for Kazembe since Politiburo Member Kenneth Musanhi  had allegedly instigated the disqualification of  business tycoon James Makamba from the provincial chairmanship race. Musanhi who is the most senior party member in Mashonaland Central province is said to be supporting Tafadzwa Musarara election bid.

Addressing villagers in Rushinga yesterday Chiminyu endorsed Kazembe and denounced Musanhi.

“As you all know Makamba was disqualified (and) according to Minister Kazembe,  the cause of Makamba’s disqualification was pushed by Musanhi in the Politiburo, this was done to pave way for Musarara. So we are urging you all to vote for Kazembe since Makamba had a strong ground here, you now know your enemies,” said Chiminyu.

Kazembe who is set to be canvassing for support  in Rushinga today refused to comment.

Contrary to protocol, Kazembe recently snubbed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit in Mazowe and chose to embark on his campaign trail in Mbire.

However, ZANU PF supporters  in Mashonaland Central are geared for the Provincial  election slated for Tuesday.

BREAKING: Interview with Christmas Hero Who Pulled Out 8 Bus Fire Victims Alive | COMING UP

https://youtu.be/9n8qMZ5nVbI

A Christmas Without Mako By Daniel Molokele

Growing up, the late nationalist, Herbert Chitepo used to be one of my my inspirational childhood heroes.

Chitepo was the first black person to be registered as a barrister in the entire Southern African region.

During the early days of our nationalist movement, he made a bold decision not to focus on a promising career as a practicing lawyer.

Instead, he opted for the less glamorous and more risky option of being the go-to lawyer for all the political victims of the racist colonial regime of that time.

And as fate would have it, Chitepo’s reputation as a selfless people’s advocate grew so rapidly, so much that in no time he was thrust on to the centre stage of leadership for the nascent nationalist movement.

In August 1963, he found himself as one of the founding leaders of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU)He was elected to be the national Chairperson for ZANU.

Unfortunately for him, his political career blossomed right at the same time with that of the late Ian Douglas Smith.

It was the very same Smith who led a new radical shift in racist politics under the new party known as the Rhodesian Front.

Sooner than later, in a determined attempt to consolidate his newly found political power and also the fight for the British to grant independence without the requisite condition of black majority rule; Smith decided to outlaw both ZANU and its rival the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) as led by the late Joshua Nkomo.

Added to that, Smith went on to arrest and detain unjustly several key leaders of the nationalist movement including Nkomo, Ndabaningi Sithole, Robert Mugabe, among others.

These were all banished to a remote specially designed political prison known as Gonakudzingwa, deep into wildlife territory at the Gonarezhou national park.

The scattering of the nationalist movement leaders put to an end to any hopes of Chitepo’s continuing to grow his reputation as a people’s advocate.

Chitepo was one of the nationalist leaders who was forced to go into exile.

He was soon to be found at the forefront in the process of establishing the exiled administrative structure of ZANU.

The late Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda welcomed ZANU to set up its new headquarters in Lusaka.

And so, far from what he could have imagined upon his qualification as a barrister, Chitepo now suddenly found himself not just in exile but also as the de facto leader of ZANU since all other senior leaders of ZANU had been detained indefinitely at Gonakudzingwa.

For several years, he had the onerous task of keeping the ZANU flame burning as the leader of the party in exile.

It was a task that he took on very well and he successfully executed it. I was born on 31st January 1975.

However, tragically, a few week after my birth, Chitepo met his own death.

He was assassinated on the 18th March 1975.

A bomb was planted beneath his vehicle that was parked outside his house of exile in Lusaka.

The bomb exploded massively as soon as Chitepo’s driver started to drive his vehicle.

This in effect also meant that Chitepo never had another chance to spend Christmas back home in his own beloved motherland.

The most recent Christmas of 1974 proved to be his very last one.

Unfortunately, he must have spent his last Christmas in Lusaka, so far away from his beloved ones back home in his beautiful motherland.

This also meant that what eventually became my first ever Christmas at the end of 1975, was actually the first Christmas for the Chitepo family without their most famous member.

And just like that, Chitepo failed to make it to my first ever Christmas in December 1975, due to his decision to put the national interest ahead of his personal one as a most promising lawyer.

His death also proved to be his ultimate sacrifice in his quest and dream for a new, free, independent and democratic Zimbabwe.

Indeed, he must have died with the hope that one day, his compatriots would no longer need to celebrate Christmas in exile, stranded as refugees in foreign countries.

He must have definitely died with the hope that one day his compatriots would happily celebrate Christmas back home in Zimbabwe, in the company of their most beloved ones.Fast forward now to Christmas in 2021.

Sadly for Chitepo, it seems his sacrificial death was all in vain.

Today, the number of his compatriots celebrating Christmas in foreign countries is now far more than that of his last Christmas in 1974.

Yes, independence eventually arrived a few years after his death in April 1980.

However, Chitepo would be very disappointed to know that the initial euphoria of independence soon evaporated. It was just a political mirage.

The great dream that he died for; the big dream of a free, independent, democratic and prosperous Great Zimbabwe has now dramatically turned into a political nightmare.

Many more families as compared to 1974, will now be forced to spend Christmas separated from each other during December 2021.

As l write, millions of Zimbabweans have been forced to celebrate yet another Christmas all across the world in such countries as South Africa, Botswana, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, among others.

Indeed, Chitepo would be disappointed to learn that thousands of his compatriots will like him in 1974, be forced to spend Christmas at Lusaka and all across Zambia.

Worse still, Chitepo would be disappointed to learn that back home in Zimbabwe, there will be families that will be forced to spend Christmas without their beloved ones who are the new modern version of political prisoners like those who were forced to spend their Christmas at Gonakudzingwa in 1974, so far away from their beloved families.

The sad truth that Chitepo would need to face is that in the so-called independent Zimbabwe we now have our own version of political prisoners.

Indeed, there are several political prisoners who will be forced to spend this latest Christmas, separated and so far away from the company of their beloved family members.

Among these prisoners who are being detained unjustly on political grounds is none other than the youthful Makomborero Haruzivishe.

During the same month of March that Chitepo sacrificed his life for a new Zimbabwe, Haruzivishe was unjustly incarcarated by the military backed regime that has forced itself against the democratic wishes of the Zimbabwean masses.

Somehow, Haruzivishe is a modern day Chitepo.

A few years ago, he was privileged enough to be admitted at the University of Zimbabwe.

He could have simply focused on merely obtaining his academic degree and look for a professional career path.

However, during his time at the UZ, he soon realized that his personal ambitions were inferior to the waning national aspirations.

Haruzivishe realised that unless something was done, there were no guaranteed future prospects for him and his fellow students once their graduated from university.

Zimbabwe currently has one of the worst statistics across Africa when it comes to graduate unemployment.

Haruzivishe soon realised that his degree qualification could prove to be meaningless if he did not stand up for the future prospects of his beautiful motherland.

Just like Chitepo before him, Haruzivishe chose to put the future of his country first, ahead of his person one.

Haruzivishe soon became an outspoken student leader.

He was then elected as the Secretary General of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU).

As a student leader he soon became a national voice for his own generation in its aspiration for a new Zimbabwe.

Unfortunately, the regime realised that his radicalism could soon inspire more people to heed the call to renew and intensify the struggle for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

As fate would have it, in its desperation to cling to political power at all costs, the military-backed regime decided to use Haruzivishe as a sacrificial lamb to warm others of the danger of being passionate about the need for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

Haruzivishe is a political prisoner.Just like all those millions of Zimbabweans who are now scattered in the Diaspora, Haruzivishe is not going to spend this Christmas with his beloved ones.

Haruzivishe will spend his Christmas behind bars. Unfairly and unjustly so.

Indeed for his beloved ones, it will sadly be a Christmas without Mako.

His story is sadly a microcosm of the rest of the families across the country who will be forced to celebrate Christmas without their beloved ones who are either unjustly detained in prison or have been forced to live in exile, in the Diaspora.

This is the sad but true story of Zimbabwe today. Be that as it may, we cannot afford to allow this tragic state of affairs to continue unabated.

It is now time for all of us as Zimbabweans, both at home and in the Diaspora to boldly proclaim that enough is enough!

We desperately need new political leadership for our country to have any hope of achieving its true potential and become the Great Zimbabwe that many hoped it would be on the 18th of April 1980.

It is now time for change.Indeed, it is now definitely time for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

MDC Alliance Rushes To Assist Beta Bus Fire Victims | BREAKING

By A Correspondent | Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance may be disposed of party financing, but that does not seem to stop them from assisting the nation in times of disaster, and the party has become the first to rush to the Beta Bus accident scene in Mutare road.

Speaking upon arrival, Vice President Lynnet Karenyi said: “We have come here to see where the accident happened yesterday in the Beta bus mishap, where a lot of people perished. Many do not know the identities of the victims.

“We are calling for the government to ensure that things are done speedily, forensics are done so that facts are established.

“We also ask so that families are comforted. Our deepest condolences to the families who lost their beloved.

“We ask that the government put in policies that ensure that there are laws to help in such road safety accidents.

“We ask that the government make sure that the roads are dualised to minimise accidents, and in our current setting as we go to Christmas we all reduce speed.

“There is nothing more we can do other than to offer our love. May God comfort you. To those who are travelling, let us be both careful and caring.”

Jah Prayzah Disappoints In Filabusi, But Blames Promoter

By A Correspondent | Jah Prayzah has announced why his Christmas Eve Filabusi show was a disappointment saying violence was unleashed against his band.

Writing on Christmas Day, Mukudzei Mukombe blamed the flop on the promoter who he said did not pay up; also alleging that his band was held hostage.

While a comment from the accused could not be obtained at the time of writing, the singer said: Unfortunately this event could not proceed due to the promoter failing to live up to their end of the bargain as agreed despite us being in Filabusi on time.

The worst thing is that they went on to hold my band hostage at their premises and instructed the security detail to abuse the band.

Contacted by ZimEye, the person in charge of ticketing at the gig, one Lawrence Moyo told ZimEye he has clear evidence that Jah Prayzah was fully paid his money to the tune of USD6,500 by the 21st December and by yesterday he discovered that the promoter Charles Munyanyi had gone further to even top it up with another USD1,000. He would not comment on the allegations of holding the singer’s band hostage, and referred all matters to the main promoter, the latter who upon picking up his phone told ZimEye, he is under depression and can only speak later.

“Are you able to call me after 20 minutes mdara I am under severe depression,” he said.

ZimEye follows up on the story

They even wanted to force the band to perform beyond the curfew time. Sad day!!!

Chadcombe Robbers Were 5, But ZRP Now Says They Were 7

the Stribog firearm…5mm similar used in the shooting against the suspected robber.

The family of one of the suspected robbers shot dead at a Chadcombe, Harare earlier in December are connecting with ZimEye in studio on Christmas Day to query why the Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced a new number of the suspects in the incident. The family also responds the below court report published by the stage owned Herald newspaper.

Herald: The two remaining suspects in the gang of seven that recently raided a Chadcombe house belonging to a retired CID Homicide detective Mr Joseph Nemaisa, after allegedly targeting the wrong house, are now believed to have fled to Mozambique.

The two on the police most wanted list for being part of the gang are Washington Hamandishe and Tatenda Mumbire.

Recently, three other gang members were shot dead by Mr Nemaisa at his Chadcombe home and two gang members have been arrested, along with an employee of the householder a few doors away who was believed to have been the target.

The gang of armed robbers, which was hitting the Chadcombe house then found out the hard way that they were attacking the family of Mr Nemaisa who managed to race back home, leap over a wall and in the resulting gun fire exchange, took out three of the five robbers and saved his family from torture and further assault.

More remarkably, two of the robbers were armed with rifles or assault rifles, but while severely outgunned Mr Nemaisa used his training and almost two decades of experience in the CID to win through.

On Monday, detectives from the CID Homicide arrested Job Tayero (37) on allegations of assisting Hamandishe and Mumbire to escape to Mozambique.

Tayero was arrested at Hamandishe’s house in Domboshava where he had been sent by the suspected robber to take some of his property and belongings. It is believed that he wanted to take them to Mozambique.

Acting on a tip off, detectives raided the house and arrested Tayero who then revealed that the two wanted suspects were hiding in Mozambique to evade arrest. Tayero appeared in court on Tuesday facing charges of assisting an accused person who has committed an offence and he was remanded in custody, as investigations continues.

The man who allegedly sold out his employer to the gang of armed robbers that later on mistakenly stormed the Chadcombe house of Mr Nemaisa, had only been employed for three weeks before he orchestrated the armed robbery.

Shine Nyamhunga (21), who is employed by Top parts and Tyres in Harare, was over the weekend not asked to plead to robbery when he appeared before magistrate Ms Judith Taruvinga.

He was remanded in custody to December 28. Allegations are that on December 6 at around 8.45pm Nyamhunga and the robbery gang planned to rob Ms Patience Matonzi with Nyamhunga giving the gang directions to Ms Matonzi’s house. But the gang missed their target and mistakenly pounced on Mr Nemaisa’s family.

Investigations revealed that Nyamhunga of Arcadia was employed by Ms Matonzi a few weeks ago after she had gone to a shopping centre in the area looking for someone who lives near the city to be employed in one of her shops.

It is reported that Nyamhunga, who had a drivers’ licence, came out the best from the three people that Ms Matonzi had interviewed before she employed her.

On the day of the robbery, Ms Matonzi’s car broke down and she later asked for her son to drive her home while in the company of Nyamhunga after working hours. It was the first time that Nyamhunga had visited Ms Matonzi’s house and he gave Tariro Gora, one of the dead robbers, details of recent cash transactions at Ms Matonzi’s business.

The gang has been linked to five armed robberies in Marondera plus Belvedere, Hatfield, Cold Comfort and Mabelreign in Harare, where property worth over US$52 300 was stolen.

Police enquiries have shown that the 22 rifle fitted with a telescopic sight and 303 rifle were stolen during the Marondera robbery on November 15.

Detectives recovered an AK47 from Private Wirimayi Nyandoro’s house in Harare.

He was allegedly in the gang but stayed in the getaway car outside the house.

High Court Evicts Obert Mpofu From Seized Farm

By- The High court has ordered Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu to leave Esidakeni Farm in Nyamadlovu, Matabeleland North.

High Court judge Justice Evangelista Kabasa, Thursday, said Mpfu risked eviction if he failed to leave the farm within the next 24 hours.

Justice Kabasa granted an application by the human rights lawyer Siphosami Malunga, a son to the late national hero Sydney Malunga, and business partners Zephaniah Dhlamini and Charles Moyo who claim ownership to the 550-hectare which Mpofu invaded.

The trio said in court papers that they bought the farm from its former white owners in 2017. They argued that attempts to deprive them of the farm are unconstitutional.

The judge said Mpofu, his wife Sikhanyisiwe “and all those claiming occupation through them must vacate the farm within 24 hours failing which the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court with the assistance of the police must evict them.”

Mpofu and his wife, Sikhanyisiwe, who are joint owners of Mswelangubo Farm, have filed a notice to appeal the ruling.

In December 2020, the Government gave notice of its intention to seize Esidakeni Farm for resettlement.

Zimbabwe’s laws empower the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement to compulsorily acquire land without paying compensation except for improvements.

Mpofu and his wife, through their company, Mswelangubo Farm, produced an offer letter for 145 hectares of Esidakeni Farm.

Malunga, Moyo and Dhlamini have challenged the compulsory acquisition of the farm and the matter is still pending at the High Court.

Police Speak On Mutare Horror Crash

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police has said that four people were killed when a Beta bus burst into flames after colliding with a fuel tanker at the 242km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway Friday.

The deceased included two passengers on the bus, the tanker driver and his passenger. The rest of the passengers kicked emergency exit panels and helped others to escape despite the injuries of many.
However, 54 of those escaping passengers were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital with injuries described as serious.

The four bodies were being retrieved last night.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the bus, which was on its way from Harare, encroached onto the opposite lane resulting in the head-on collision with the tanker that was heading towards Harare.
“There are reports that the bus driver had tried to avoid a drunken person who was along the road and thereby encroaching onto the opposite lane but we are still conducting investigations.
“Our officers are still on the ground and we will be releasing more details,” he said last night.

Manicaland Provincial Secretary for Development and Devolution, Mr Edgars Seenza was at the scene with police helping to coordinate the needed resources for passengers, police and medical staff.
He said the accident happened around 5pm.
“The tanker which was transporting fuel burst into flames. Both vehicles were reduced to wrecks.
“As the Civil Protection Unit, we are encouraging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads,” said Mr Seenza.
When our Mutare Bureau attended to the scene last night, Mutare Fire Brigade, which swiftly responded to the distress call had managed to extinguish the fire.
The remains of the tanker driver were still trapped in the wreckage of his vehicle.

Traffic was along Mutare Highway was blocked for close to an hour as the remains were being retrieved.
“It so sad to lose lives in such a horrific manner especially during this festive season,” said Mr Seenza.
On Thursday afternoon, one person died while 15 others were injured-eight of them seriously when a Harare-bound Munhenzva cross-border bus they were travelling in burst its tyre and landed on its roof near the Matshiloni area along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
The bus was carrying 29 Zimbabweans returning from South Africa.
The injured were taken to the Beitbridge District Hospital for medical attention, while one of the deceased crew members was taken to a mortuary at the same hospital.
Zimbabwean roads produce a lot of accidents.
In the first 10 months of this year, 1 475 people were killed while 6 614 were injured in 35 727 road traffic accidents, despite two Level Four lockdowns and a curfew every night, both sharply limiting driving.
Recently, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona told a media conference in Harare that an average of five people die on the roads each day, translating to plus or minus 2 000 deaths annually.

He said the period between December 15 this year and January 15 next year marks the festive season, a time when there is normally an increase in road traffic deaths and injuries.
“This is so because of increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic. You may recall that during the period December 15 2019 to January 15 2020, a total of 3 668 road traffic accidents were recorded, with 186 people killed and 722 injured during that festive season.
“As we are in another festive period. We need to take stock of what happened in the year 2020 and avoid a replica of such unpleasant statistics,” he said.

Zanu PF Announces Party’s PCC Elections Candidates

By- Zanu PF has released the names of party members who are going to contest in the provincial party elections.

Fireworks are expected at the polls set for Tuesday next week in the volatile Mashonaland Central and West provinces with elections in Manicaland and Masvingo also seen as potential hotbeds.

The provinces became political violence hotspots during elections to choose district structures with some of the elections still pending while several cases of violence also marred the party’s restructuring programmes.
Zanu PF leaders First Secretary Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga were recently forced to issue warnings as violence escalated in the regional structures.
Kembo Mohadi, the party’s other vice-president also visited the provinces to quell the skirmishes.
Addressing a politburo meeting on Tuesday, Mnangagwa warned senior leaders that they faced expulsion for causing divisions ahead of the provincial party elections.
“The party election and mobilisation teams, alongside other relevant departments, are directed to strictly comply with the laid out rules and regulations that govern the conduct of elections,” he said.
“No individual, no matter their position within the party, is above the law. Our party’s internal democratic elections and processes must nurture political maturity and discipline to strengthen the spirit of comradeship within the rank and file of the party.”
National political commissar Mike Bimha, in an interview, said candidates were going through a vetting programme with successful names being forwarded to the provinces.
“They are being vetted as we speak. Maybe tomorrow (yesterday) they will be done but we are not going to announce them. We are sending back the names to the provinces after the vetting process. We will also produce ballot papers to be sent to the provinces. They are going through security checks. We don’t even ask why they (security department) have dropped so and so because it’s their prerogative.”
Bimha also dismissed reports of violence in the period leading to the elections despite reports of skirmishes among supporters of various candidates across Zimbabwe.
“I don’t think that is true. We didn’t receive any reports of violent issues. Yes people jostle for positions, that is very normal and it shows that the people love the party and they want party positions,” he said adding that the party would have disqualified candidates who fanned violence against fellow members if the violence existed.
“As far as we are concerned we don’t have those reports (of violence.) Yes people jostle for positions but that is competition and that is what it is. It’s actually healthy for the party.”
Mnangagwa has already stamped his authority handpicking Larry Mavima who stood unopposed in the Midlands province chairmanship race.
He is reported to have made the move to dilute the divisive fight between Owen Ncube and Daniel Mackenzie Ncube who were reportedly battling to push their preferred candidates.
In Mashonaland Central, incumbent Kazembe Kazembe will face Tafadzwa Musarara for the chairmanship after the politburo rejected businessman James Makamba’s candidature.
Sources from the province told the Zimbabwe Independent that a provincial co-ordinating committee meeting last weekend endorsed three candidates but Makamba was ejected on Tuesday.
“The province submitted three curriculum vitaes for Makamba, Kazembe and Musarara but Makamba’s name was thrown out.
“Kenneth Musanhi raised the motion during the politburo against Makamba accusing him of going after party chefs’ wives and he was seconded by Munyararadzi Machacha,” the sources said.
They said the candidate who got Makamba’s endorsement would win the election adding that if he cedes his support to Musarara then Kazembe would be de-throned.
“However, it is Musanhi’s scheme to prop Musarara’s candidature because he felt threatened by Makamba who has properties in Bindura besides being rich.
“There are also reports that Zanu PF supporters from Mt Darwin are planning a demonstration at Musanhi’s house for what he did to Makamba,” the sources added.
Former youth league leaders in the provinces are also targeting to upset the applecart in Mashonaland West and East provinces.
Former provincial youth league chairman Vengai Msengi and his colleague Kelvin Mutsvairo have launched spirited campaigns to lead the main wings from their respective provinces.
Msengi will battle it out against Zanu PF’s first-ever female candidate for the provincial chairmanship Mary Mliswa-Chikoka.
Other candidates include Makonde legislator Kindness Paradza, former acting chair Abiel Mujeri and war veterans league leader Happison Muchechetere.
Mujeri is reportedly getting a strong push from politburo member and former chairman Ziyambi.
In Mashonaland East, Mutsvairo will battle it out against businessman-cum-politician Ozias Bvute while other candidates include Daniel Garwe, Michael Madanha, the current acting chairperson, and former political commissar Herbert Shumbamhini.
The problematic Manicaland province has been turned into a battlefield of two factions — Ngangira and Dandemutande — reportedly fronting provincial “god-mothers” Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Monica Mutsvangwa.
The incumbent Mike Madiro is facing stiff competition from war veteran Albert Nyakuedzwa for the chairmanship with the two allegedly fronting the Ngangira and Dandemutande factions, respectively.
Four candidates are vying for the Harare provincial chairmanship with acting chair Goodwills Masimirembwa battling Godfrey Gomwe.
Gomwe is facing assault charges after he allegedly hit Masimirembwa with a chair during a meeting in the capital.
Other dark horses include former Mt Pleasant legislator Jaison Passade and Boniface Karoro, an ex-central committee member. In Masvingo, the incumbent Ezra Chadzamira has reportedly lost the favour of the party structures that are now rooting for Robson Mavenyengwa for the chairman’s position.
Other elections are also expected in Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South.

Mnangagwa Has No Right To Speak On National Unity

Tinashe Sambiri ( Johannesburg)

The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa was a mere holder of his former boss Robert Mugabe’s suitcase during the liberation struggle, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has declared.

Mnangagwa does not at all qualify to speak about the sacrifices made during the liberation war, according to Chuma.

He wrote on Twitter :
“Mugabe’s suitcase holder during the liberation war @edmnangagwa is out to pilfer African liberation history. Through the African Liberation Museum, ED is desperate to portray himself along liberation icons like Julias Nyerere, Kwame Nkrumah etc. He is a Gukurahundi murderer! https://twitter.com/chumasteve/status/1474102949441904648?s=20

MDC Alliance Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said:
“The problem is Mnangagwa believes ZANU PF structures are government structures.

We all know that the government has been working with ZANU PF aligned structures such as the chief’s council and certain captured organizations to purportedly address the Gukurahundi issue.”

Man Fined For Stoning Own Wives

ZVISHAVANE – A notorious top Zvishavane gold dealer who pelted his two wives with stones after they refused to shake their bums for him in public has been sentenced to nine months in prison or a fine of RTGS$50 000.

Five months were suspended from three years on condition he doesn’t commit such a crime.

Samson Gondwe (48) assaulted his wives on December 4, 2021 when the gold dealer who is popularly known as Sam Dread was drinking beer with wives Precious Mushaikwa and Popadopoules Droder Mollin.

Gondwe ordered his wives to shake their buttocks in front of men who were also drinking beer at the place but they refused. The accused then threw stones at the wives hitting their heads and legs.

In Mitigation the Gondwe said he has four wives including the complainants and 13 children under his care. Twelve of those are going to school and he pays their fees. A custodial sentence would therefore affect them negatively. He employs 60 workers at his mine and six at his farm who all depend on him for income.

In passing sentence Matura said Gondwe he is a first offender and he gave a guilty plea hence he did not waste the court’s time.

About STIs

WHO STI Research Priority Setting Technical Advisory Group

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have a profound impact on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) worldwide. In 2020, an estimated 374 million new infections occurred globally with one of the 4 curable STIs: syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis.

[1] The Global Health Sector Strategy on STIs (2016-2021) sets out several guiding principles for ending the STI epidemic as a public health problem,[2] but many gaps in evidence limit available guidance and tools, and progress toward STI prevention and control has been slow.[3] As an updated global strategy is developed for the next decade, new research is essential to strengthen the evidence base for new and improved interventions and guidelines including, but not limited to: the epidemiology, risk factors, and consequences of STIs; development and evaluation of behavioral, biomedical, clinical, and programmatic STI interventions and strategies; and scaling up existing interventions.

WHO is undertaking an exercise to identify global and regional STI research priorities. The systematic priority setting approach will involve consultation with a wide range of global stakeholders.

A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on STI Research Priority Setting, consisting of external experts, will contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of the research priority setting exercise. The STI Research Priority Setting TAG will be expected to oversee the process and to consider and include perspectives across regions, gender, populations and socioeconomics.

In its capacity as an advisory body to WHO, the STI Research Priority Setting TAG shall have the following functions:

Develop the priority setting framework (eg. clarify the objectives, context, scope, and focus areas of the process).
Review and provide comments to WHO on the research priority setting process protocol and survey tools.

Generate lists of national, regional and global STI experts and stakeholder groups to ensure a broad range of survey participants are reached during the priority setting process implementation.
Participate in consolidating STI research questions solicited from stakeholder surveys.

Ensure that the proposed criteria for scoring research questions will address the objectives of the exercise.
Review analysis and results of ranking and systematic listing of priority research questions (with data management/statistical support).
Contribute to the WHO finalization. publishing and dissemination of global STI research priorities.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told NewsDay yesterday that the hunt for the escapees was still on.

“The deportees are still on the run. We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding their escape,” he said.

There is mandatory quarantine for returning citizens regardless of the results of their COVID-19 tests.

In a statement last week, Nyathi described the escapees as COVID-19 “super-spreaders”.

“The ZRP warns members of the public against intentionally spreading COVID-19 pandemic to unsuspecting relatives, peers and the general public.

“The police will ensure that the law takes its course on the suspects and anyone who puts the lives of citizens at risk,” Nyath said.

He identified the escapees as Danis Chikora (36) Chief Nhema, Masvingo, Takunda Makuvaro (44) Makuvaro village, Masvingo, Cephas Dube (25) Chipanga village, Chipinge, Nonhlanhla Dhlamini (19) Khoza Primary School, Matopo, Primerose Manheya (24) 2906 Uve, Rusape and Danial Maringa (30) 4616 Kuwadzana, Harare.

15 Critically Injured In Munhenzva Bus Accident

By -One person died while 15 others were injured, eight of them seriously when a Harare-bound Munhenzva cross-border bus they were travelling in burst a tyre and landed on its roof.

The fatal accident occurred near Matshiloni area along the Beitbridge – Masvingo road, Thursday.

National police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi said investigations into the accident were underway.

“The accident occurred around 2 pm on Thursday when the bus burst one of its tyres and landed on its roof. As a result, 15 people were injured, eight of them seriously, while seven incurred minor injuries.
At the same time, we want to urge bus operators to always observe curfew hours to ensure the safety of their passengers considering that we are recording a surge in armed robberies beyond curfew hours,” said Nyathi.

The bus was carrying 29 Zimbabweans returning from South Africa.

Police Unearths ATM Card Scam

By-THe Zimbabwe Republic Police has unearthed an ATM card fraud scam where the fraudsters were targeting business people and individuals’ accounts to withdraw large sums of money.

The net is closing on a number of individuals who are using several ATM cards, mobile phones and fake identity particulars in scamming their targets.

As investigations intensify, detectives recently recovered 88 mobile phone lines, 11 ATM cards and three fake drivers licences from one of the suspects’ Manyame Park, Chitungwiza home.
The suspect, Trynos Muzanenhamo (23), is alleged to have stolen close to $500 000 from a Mutare business man using several techniques of ATM card fraud and impersonification.
Muzanenhamo has since been hauled before Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi, facing fraud charges.
He was granted $50 000 bail.
Prosecuting, Ms Tafadzwa Chiwanza said the suspect stole from Mr Nyasha Mundembe.
“On November 15, the complainant who is the owner of a grocery shop at Chikanga Spar trading as Big Byte mistakenly made two transactions to purchase Econet data bundles using a CABS banking mobile application.
“The complainant searched for the accused person’s cell number registered in the name of Dennis Samu from a WhatsApp group titled “Mutare adverts” in which the accused person had previously advertised that he offers Econet and NetOne customer services.
“The complainant contacted the accused person to help him reverse the purchase of the excess data bundles. The accused asked the complainant to send him a copy of his national identification card through WhatsApp and he complied,” said Ms Chiwanza.
It is alleged that Muzanenhamo requested a onetime password (OTP) from Mr Mundembe indicating that he wanted to finalise the reversal.
Acting upon the misrepresentation, Mr Mundembe sent the password to Muzanenhamo.
“Moments later, Muzanenhamo was in control of Mr Mundembe’s CABS Bank account number and he used the password to transfer $87 750 from that account to another CABS account number registered in the name Tendai Nemeso.
“Mr Mundembe reported the matter at Mutare Central Police Station on the same day. On November 16, the accused person transferred $51 300 from the complainant’s CABS account to a CABS account registered in the name of Bezel Nyakuba as well as $2 800 to Muzanenhamo’s One money account number.
“Police alerted CABS Bank, Mutare, who managed to block Tendai Nemeso and Bezel Nyakuba’s accounts. Police also managed to alert NetOne Zimbabwe’s Mutare office and Muzanenhamo’s One money account was also blocked before the money could be withdrawn,” said Ms Chiwanza.
On November 21, Muzanenhamo allegedly made a sim card replacement for Mr Mundembe’s mobile number at Chigovanyika Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza after producing a fake driver’s licence with his photo and the complainant’s details.
He then registered the newly replaced sim card on WhatsApp and started using it, purporting to be Mr Mundembe.
Muzanenhamo allegedly sent a message on a wholesalers’ WhatsApp group looking for local currency in exchange of United States dollars.
Samson Chikunguru responded to Muzanemhano’s message thinking he was communicating with Mr Mundembe.
“The accused person gave Chikunguru three different accounts to transfer the money into. Chikunguru made two ZB Bank internal transfers of $77 250 and $55 500. He also made a First Capital Bank internal transfer of $14 8750 and a $17 500 transfer from CBZ Bank to an Ecocash number registered under Francis Ditima’s name.
“Mr Mundembe later realised that his Econet line had been blocked and he informed the police. Police swiftly reacted to the information and the accounts where the money had been transferred into were blocked before the money could be withdrawn.
“After thorough investigations, Muzanenhamo was arrested at Chigovanyika Shopping Centre and he voluntarily led the police officers to his place of residence in Chitungwiza,” said Ms Chiwanza.
At his place of residence, detectives recovered a fake Zimbabwean driver’s licence bearing Muzanenhamo’s face and Mr Mundembe’s details.
They also recovered two fake Zimbabwean driver’s licences bearing Francis Ditima and Itai Mawoyo’s names.
A total of 11 cellphones, mobile phone lines and ATM cards were also recovered from the suspect.
Muzanenhamo implicated Julius Mupome as the one who manufactured the fake IDs. Manica Post

Gaffa In SA For A Memorable End Of Year Show

By-Zimdancehall, king Winky D is in South Africa for his much-awaited show where he will be drawing down the entertainment curtain in Johannesburg with his new project, Happy Again.

The initial show was pencilled for the beginning of December but was put on ice following newly-implemented Covid-19 restrictions.

This is not the first time Winky has done the honours to close the year as he did the same again in 2020.

While last year he was supported by Zimbabwean amapiano princess ShaSha, this year the line-up has a South African flavour to it as the energetic Busiswa is also billed to perform.

The show is the brainchild of Munya “Touch” Jeranyama who has proven over the years that he is good in the game to host an artiste of Winky D’s stature.
“We were obviously disappointed a few weeks ago when we had to cancel the show at the last minute,” said Touch.

Apart from Busiswa, a number of artistes will take to the stage among them love songs crooner Paddy Watts, Fayth M and Elcee Gweja among others.

Tops DJs such as Irie Dread, Spragga, Chuck and Tibra will be at the turntables.

Joburg’s top Zimbabwean MCs Rico Myers and Abra Simmz will be taking turns on the mic.

Tickets are being sold online via Touch’s social media handles.
Early birds will get tickets for R250 online and the fee rises to R300 at the gate for general tickets.

The Resurrection of Moses

Sabbath School Summary

BY ELDER DR MASIMBA MAVAZA

The Resurrection of Moses

Lesson 1

Memory Text: Jude 9
“Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ ” (Jude 9, NKJV).

INTRODUCTION
As we have seen all quarter, Moses is the central mortal in Deuteronomy. His life, his character, his messages pervade the book. Though, yes, Deuteronomy is about God and His love for ‘am yisra’el, “the people of Israel,” God often used Moses to reveal that love and to speak to His people Israel.
Now, as we come to the end of the quarter, the end of our study of Deuteronomy, we also come to the end of Moses’ life, at least his life here.
As Ellen G. White expressed it: “Moses knew that he was to die alone; no earthly friend would be permitted to minister to him in his last hours. There was a mystery and awfulness about the scene before him, from which his heart shrank. The severest trial was his separation from the people of his care and love—the people with whom his interest and his life had so long been united. But he had learned to trust in God, and with unquestioning faith he committed himself and his people to His love and mercy.”—Patriarchs and Prophets, pp. 470, 471.
As Moses’ life and ministry revealed much about the character of God, so, too, does his death and resurrection.

SABBATH: As the shepherd of the flock of God, Moses nursed, cared & prayed for the afflicted in Israel. Deuteronomy is about God but he is the central mortal in the book. His untiring labors & wise counsels depicts “God’s love for Israel” (‘am yisra’el). The hour came when he had to surrender his keys of office & resign his life into the hands of God (PP, p. 470, 471). Moses’ life, death, & resurrection reveals God.

SUNDAY: Mighty miracles of God was displayed before Israel. God fed them with manna & water in the wilderness (1 Cor. 10:4, PP, p. 411). Yet, in the camp of Israel was doubts & murmurings. Moses did not consent when God sought to free him of his duty & destroy the people. In the want of water, the people conspired against Moses & Aaron. Their perversity led Moses to sin against God (Num. 20:1-13).

MONDAY: Humanly, the anger of Moses was understandable but his lack of faith was inexcusable in the sight of God. Myriad miracles was wrought by God through Moses. Yet, amid the complaints of the Israelites, Moses did not believe God. He disobeyed God & failed to glorify Him (Num. 20:12, 13, Deut. 31:2, 34:4, Exod. 3:2-16). To Israel, the sentence on Moses was an open rebuke (Num. 20:9-11).

TUESDAY: God didn’t renounce His promise made to Abram many years ago because Moses sinned. Abram’s seed would enter the godly land. Sadly, Moses would not (Gen. 12:7, Deut. 34:1-12). At a point, he was hopeless (PP, p. 471, 472). He had left the royal courts to lead Israel faithfully. But Israel provoked him to sin. God divinely showed him the land & had something better in store for him.

WEDNESDAY: The death of Moses was not the final chapter in his life. He would not enter Canaan but he was to enter heaven. Moses died, he was buried & mourned. But God raised him up. Great men of God may die but God shall raise them into eternity (Rev. 14:13, Jude 9). Christ Himself will rescue us & gift us His grace. Moses was guilty of pride but the Cross of Christ saved him (Isa. 14:14, PP, p. 479).

THURSDAY: A much better abode for sure was given to Moses (Heb. 12:22). He had his place not in an earthly Canaan or Jerusalem, but a heavenly Jerusalem which shall be the abode of all God’s redeemed. Moses is the first mortal known to be raised from the dead & Enoch & Elijah translated to heaven without dying (Gen. 5:24, 2 Kings 2:11). Resurrection & judgement awaits us (Rev. 20:7-15, 1 Cor. 15:13-22).

FRIDAY: Moses & Aaron assumed the power that belonged to only God when they angrily cried; “Must we fetch you water out of this rock?” It was as though the power lay with themselves. The only helper to fully rely on is God. By not being firm, Moses marred his record. God was dishonored. But grace found Moses & he was resurrected. He came with Elijah on the mount of transfiguration.

—Ellen G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 418 & 479.

Discussion Questions

? In one sense, yes, Moses was resurrected and brought to heaven shortly after his death. But at the same time, poor Moses (we assume) gets to witness the terrible mess of things down here. How fortunate that most of us will be resurrected after all the struggle on earth is over at the Second Coming. In what ways is this, then, a greater blessing than what Moses experienced?

? How does the story of Moses’ death and later resurrection show us how the New Testament, though often based on the Old Testament, does take us further than the Old Testament and can, indeed, shed much new light upon it?

? How is the story of Moses’ life, including smiting the rock in a fit of anger, an example of what it means to live by faith and to be saved by faith, apart from the deeds of the law?

? In class, talk about the promise of the resurrection at the end of time. Why is this so central to all our hopes? Also, if we can trust God on this (that is, on raising us from death), shouldn’t we be able to trust Him for everything else? After all, if He can do that for us, what can’t He do?

Reflection On Zimbabwe’s Progress In 2021: Mavaza

Masimba Mavaza VAZET

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | As 2021 draws to an end, as business starts to wind down for the Christmas holidays, and the New year is beckoning, many Zimbabweans find ourselves looking back on the past 12 months, its opportunities, and challenges for our personal lives. Our lives have become from one pillar to another. Many have lost relatives and many have lost jobs and businesses have failed to rise. From big wins or losses to concerning or promising trends, it’s important to take time to reflect in the year you’ve had and the year ahead for your country. After all, whilst 2020 was a conundrum of uncertainties, 2021 brought with it post-Pandemic challenges; hybrid working negotiations, more lockdowns, resuming of travel, mass talent shortages across multiple sectors.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

Often when we consider the word ‘reflection’, it can conjure up notions of looking back or in the past, rather than looking ahead to the future. But when it comes to your country and your political party looking back is crucial to moving forward towards the future.
Reflection not only provides your business an opportunity to identify what went well in the year previous and what to replicate in the future, but also where it may have experience difficulties or challenges it struggled to overcome, providing you with a view on how you could improve on these factors.
As a government it is good to identify the weaknesses as a country, what you did well or did not do well, to ensure you improve for the benefit of your performance, productivity and reputation amongst stakeholders.
Reflection: Top Tips to Use It
It isn’t enough to simply take time to reflect, ignore what was identified and move on. In fact, philosopher Confucius summed it up well, “Learning without a reflection is a waste. Reflection without learning is dangerous”.
The purpose of reflection is to seek out the opportunities and challenges you’ve faced as a business, understand their impact on your business in the past, and use this learning to improve for the future.
THE CHIEF MURINYE SYNDROME.
Zimbabwe and ZANU PF has shown the world that it is transparent and indeed it has moved to another level in the democratic world.
Chief Murinye broke into the limelight when he used his time at a funeral speech to rebuke the corrupt government officials surrounding the President.
Many people expected the President to punish Murinye. But to their utter surprise The president took notes.
Murinye exercised his constitutional right.
The president does not punish people for telling the truth.
Emerson Dambudzo MNANGAGWA is a transparent man who takes criticism without a grudge.
He is the lion and the crocodile put together. He showed his maturity by accepting what Murinye said and he is looking into every allegation.
ZANU PF as a party did not condemn Murinye. They applauded him for telling the truth.
Contrary to what MDC A tells people. ZANU PF is transparent and it does not strive in corruption.
Chief Murinye gave Zimbabweans a broader insight of what is called democracy.
THE COMMENTS OF THE VICE PRESIDENT.
The Vice President commented largely after being briefed by Chief Charumbira. The briefing misled the honourable VP and indeed his comments were in order as per the briefing.
Only that Chief Murinye is not the Villain. He is our hero and he did what is expected of all chiefs.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

Chief Murinye gave constructive criticism which ZANU PF has always encouraged. Thus his speech though taken out of context by many it was befitting especially at a funeral of a senior civil servant who was not corrupt an example of what a true patriot should be.

Whilst reflecting on the past year’s successes and big wins can be a positive, it’s crucial that we do not shy away from considering what perhaps didn’t go to plan, or what our weak spots are as a country, in the sights of our people stakeholders and international world.
Not only does this show a sign of strength that Zimbabwe is willing to recognise failures, but will also allow us to become transparent and honest as a country to better understand difficulties and where we can improve on it. it’s important that Zimbabwe takes learnings from this and communicate it effectively through our entire nation. Whether we decide to do this through a top-down approach from management, or business-wide, communication is key to ensuring our reflections are put to the test.
By communicating what went well or did not go well, out colleagues who are lost can identify how their contribution affected the country and where they fit within the grand scheme of these reflections. In the case of weaknesses or what did not go so well for our country communicating this to the nation will ensure we are aware of this failing, how this impacted business, and how they can identify how they as a nation can improve on this in 2022.

Zimbabwe’s Economy

The world bank reported that Zimbabwe’s economy has shown signs of recovering in 2021 mainly boosted by higher agricultural production, improved capacity utilization in industry, and stabilization of prices and exchange rates. GDP rebound to 5.1% after a two-year contraction. The strong rebound is anchored by a better 2020/21 rain season, boosting agriculture, electricity, and water.

Stabilising prices, increasing investment in public infrastructure bolstered domestic demand.
Growth is expected to strengthen further in 2022 as the negative impacts of COVID-19 subside, rain levels remain good, and implementation of policies outlined in the National Development Strategy accelerates. Good vaccination progress is likely to boost tourism, trade, transport, and other sectors that were negatively affected by pandemic disruptions.
Continued implementation of disinflation policies and fine-tuning of the foreign exchange auction market are expected to keep average annual inflation at two-digit levels in 2022 and 2023. Annual inflation stood at 50% in August 2021 down from a high of 838% in July 2020 following the introduction of rule-based reserve money management, a foreign exchange auction, and relaxation of dedollarization.
Zimbabwe received equivalent of US$961 from IMF SDR allocation, with an immediate impact of boosting gross international reserves which were critically low.
Improved economic environment eased social conditions although poverty levels remained high. With a significant proportion of households experiencing reduced or no income since the onset of the pandemic and the coverage of social assistance programs remains low. The number of people living below the international poverty line is expected to be 6.1 million in 2021 and to marginally decline in 2022, supported by expected economic growth and relatively lower inflation.
Project preparations are underway for the Health Emergency Preparedness Response Trust Fund to contribute to the National Vaccination and Deployment Strategy in response to a government request.
Human Capital
Following a decade of positive progress in human capital indicators, the pandemic has led to some deterioration in outcomes. Immediately after the onset of the pandemic, less than 30% of school-going children in rural areas engaged in education and learning compared with 70% for urban children. With the easing of lockdown and reopening of schools, most children are attending school. However, the pandemic continued to keep some children out of school, with teacher absenteeism being the primary reason (Zimstat, Rapid PICES phone surveys July 2020 and December 2020-March 2021).
The economic challenges and extraordinary shocks caused by the drought, cyclone, and the pandemic provide opportunities to press forward with measures to protect lives and livelihoods, and support Zimbabwe’s longer-term recovery.  The NDS, sets out an ambitious plan to support the recovery. Zimbabwe’s domestic policies need to continue supporting price stability and the optimal use of public resources, especially given large financing needs to prevent a deterioration in human capital.

Reflection is key to improving on the year ahead – but checking in on what was identified during this period of reflection is also crucial. By monitoring areas identified as strengths or weaknesses within our country, this will provide us the opportunity to ensure maintenance or improvement of these elements is continuing to take place throughout 2022, and that what we have learnt from our reflections of 2021 is making a difference.

FOOD ON THE TABLE
Zimbabwe has targeted to attain food security by 2022 and to increase household income by 100 percent by the year 2024.
Apart from eliminating food imports that are resulting in a bloated import bill, the government has also targeted 40 percent value addition, to create about 1 million jobs and to increase total exports by 60 percent by the year 2024.
In addition, the government has aims to transformed about 18,000 small-scale farmers into agricultural entrepreneurs.
The ambitious targets follow the launch of the Agriculture and Food security system Transformative Strategy (AFTSTS) last year with the aim of accelerating agriculture production, productivity and growth.

We must realise that the agricultural sector is one of the key sectors in Zimbabwe’s quest to achieve an upper-middle-income economy status by 2030.
The government has developed a tobacco value addition transformation strategy to create a conducive environment for tobacco growers and the industry at large to boost output.
“This tobacco value chain transformation strategy enables the intensification of tobacco production by enhancing transparency and fair tobacco marketing, reform, restructuring and rebuilding of existing institutions in order to optimize tobacco value chain financing,”
Zimbabwe had a record maize this year since the Land Reform Program of the early 2000s, with over 2.8 million tonnes delivered to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB).

Economic growth and development cannot be achieved without the availability of appropriate economic and social infrastructure. The need to improve the quality of infrastructure services in Zimbabwe is, therefore, the cornerstone of the Government of Zimbabwe’s policy, strategy and programs to promote sustained and shared economic growth in the country. This has been articulated by the Government of Zimbabwe
The roads have been rehabilitated. The Harare Bulawayo Road is near completion with Beitbridge Masvingo Road under construction. Several roads in towns have now been resurfaced and potholes are disappearing very fast.
Hospitals are being rebuilt and renovated as schools are being improved. Each day Zimbabwe is moving a step further towards success.
Many companies have reopened and life is now normalising.
The President has moved in to solve the Chinese problem with villagers. Unreasonable village evictions was stopped.
After a long time Zimbabwe has a listening president.
As we move towards 2022 we can only marvel at the good work the president has done and Zimbabwe is on the mending track.
Merry Xmas

How Winky D Chose Queen Elizabeth As His Bride | PICTURES

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Winky D last week released a song that features Queen Elizabeth as his bride.

The hit has the singer, a black slave at a huge palace, and the date sitting somewhere several hundreds of years ago.

Immediately the Queen mother is speaking with her daughter and she is arguing with her about her future love life, as she has arranged for a husband who fits the class of expectation according to royalty.

The Queen must marry the king of Maldives, as is the custom of all nobility. But the daughter who’s the Queen, loves only Winky D.

The Queen mother continues her argument. “I only look at my queen, you’ve made me such a proud mother, finally you’ve married the King of Maldives.

” I can’t wait to hold my new grandchild in my hands, the Queen mother exclaims.

“Mother I would much rather die than to see that happen,” the daughter, the Queen screams.

And then suddenly a black slave comes from behind the building carrying on his shoulders a large burden of grass which he quickly throws down.

He energetically wipes his face and then starts to sing:

It’s not money that can buy you all the things in life, it’s not money that can make you a better wife. It’s not money that can make you pay the love price. It’s not money, no.

These little words. Running up in my veins. If I say I love you girl and you love me too we can be happy again. These little words running up in my veins if I say I love you girl and you love me too we can be happy again.

The silver and gold is meant for the world the love that I hold is meant for your soul, the rivers will flow and nature will call, I hope you will know that I am giving my all. I’ve come to light that fire fire fire again I’ve come to light that fire fire fire again with these little words running up in my veins I won’t promise you of silver this is all that I have.

These little words running up in my veins if I say I love you girl and you say you love me too we can be happy again.

Some even kill for blood.
Some blood will spill for love. When all the love is gone theyll keep holding onto grudge. But I come in peace I’m glad you feel my wish

I’m going to fill this empty space…

I’m going to light up that fire fire fire again. With these little words running up in my veins I want from this you know silver that I have. – ZimEye VIDEO LOADING BELOW

Understanding STIs And Reproductive Health

The STI Research Priority Setting TAG will meet with the WHO Secretariat throughout this process. The first meeting will be convened no earlier than 13 December 2021. In keeping with the requirements of the WHO Advisory Groups guidelines and the WHO Compliance, Risk Management and Ethics Office, we are posting online short biographies of the TAG members.

The listed candidates have also submitted a Declaration of Interest form stating any conflict of interests. WHO has applied its internal processes to ensure that the performance of the above tasks by members of this group will be transparent and without any significant conflict of interests (academic, financial, or other) that could affect the credibility of the process.

Nevertheless, WHO invites the general public to review the experts and stakeholders involved and provide feedback regarding any member deemed to have a significant conflict of interest with respect to the terms of reference for this group.

Comments and feedbacks should be cordial and constructive, and sent to [email protected] .

Man Bashes Own Wives For Refusing To Shake B*ms In Public

Mnangagwa Unrepentant – ZAPU

Own Correspondent| Opposition party ZAPU has said Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent comments about Gukurahundi atrocities reflect that he is unrepentant.

Mnangagwa, in his Unity Day statement, accused certain individuals of trying to reignite Gukurahundi.

According to ZAPU, Mr Mnangagwa is blaming Gukurahundi victims for his own actions.

Mnangagwa stands accused of unleashing terror on Ndebele- speaking people during the early 80s.

ZAPU spokesperson Msongelwa Ndlovu Mnangagwa said:
“Mnangagwa is unrepentant. It is unfortunate that he continues to make assertions that the victims caused the atrocities.

Otherwise, how do we explain his warning about reigniting Gukurahundi? How can you reignite what you didn’t start in the first place? The victims are suffering,” said Ndlovu.

Probe Into Glen Norah Houses Constructed On Tarred Roads

Glen Norah house

By A Correspondent- Harare’s secretary for Provincial Affairs Tafadzwa Muguti has ordered investigations into the allocation of residential stands on tarred roads in Glen Norah and on other road servitudes by the Harare City Council (HCC).

Several media reports exposed the issue this week but the City of Harare insisted the stands were allocated properly, saying it was the tarred road that was an illegal structure.

In a Twitter post, the Harare Metropolitan Provincial office said if there are any shortcomings in the allocation of the said stands, the matter will be reported to the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC). The post read:

[Harare Metropolitan Province] Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution [Tafadzwa Muguti] has instructed the Provincial Planning Office to look into [the City of Harare’s] Glen Norah Stands allocated on the road amongst many other stands issued on the road servitudes. Any shortcomings will be reported to [ZACC].

The provincial planner will look into the original plans for the city, change of use authorisations, community engagements and approvals for the existing structure being built.

However, a Harare City Council memo dated 16 June 2021 revealed that Local Government minister July Moyo approved the layout plan for Glen Norah. The memo reads:

According to a town planners’ perspective, there was nothing untoward about the planning of the residential infill stands in Glen Norah as it is the council’s mandate to provide residents with stands to build houses, especially in areas that are technically feasible and are already endowed with services such as roads, water and sewers.

From the audit report, the land was being used for urban agriculture yet it had been approved by the Minister of Local Government for housing development according to the approved layout plan for Glen Norah/Glen View.

Space for the expansion and/ or preservation of the crescents is still available and should council wish to maintain these roads as crescents, it can easily be accommodate

Muatre Man In Soup For Stalking Late Brother’s Wife

By A Correspondent- Mutare magistrate Purity Gumbo last Thursday granted a protection order in favour of a widow who accused her late husband’s brother of stalking, assaulting and breaching her peace.

Beaular Mukono made an application for a protection order against her brother-in-law Elliot Mukono at the Mutare Civil Courts saying he denies her space to live peacefully as he follows her constantly and assaults her daily.

She alleged that Elliot wass in the habit of assaulting her and her minor children for no reason.

Beaular wanted the court to bar Elliot from assaulting, insulting, harassing and breaching her peace in the next five years. She told the court:

Your Worship, I have no peace in my life. Maybe it is because I married his late brother when he had other plans for him.

This man does not give me any space and peace. I now fear for my life because I do not know what he will be planning in his mind.

He assaults me ruthlessly. He assaults me and my minor children willy-nilly. I do not know where his hatred for us stems from.

… My children and I are always crying as there is no peace at our home because of this man.

Elliot did not dispute what Beaular had told the court and consented to the issuance of the protection order.

In her ruling magistrate Gumbo warned Elliot that he will be arrested for contempt of court if he breaches the protection order. She said:

By consent, you will not assault or insult this woman. If you harass or disturb her peace in the next five years you will be apprehended by the police and be prosecuted for contempt of court.

Just be careful with how you treat her as long as this protection order is valid.

Security Chiefs Sweating Over G40 Revival- Fear Another Coup But With Bloody End

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “The country’s security chiefs are sweating over the possibility of tycoon James Makamba becoming Mashonaland Central provincial chairman for Zanu PF after he reportedly submitted his CV for the position last week, it has emerged,” reported New Zimbabwe.

“In confidential briefings to New Zimbabwe Monday, sources said the Mashonaland Central provincial joint operations command (JOC) has consistently expressed its concerns over his candidature in its meetings, especially over his previous alleged romantic affair with former first lady Grace Mugabe which led him into fleeing the country.”

Security concerns are that he is a daring man capable of doing anything after he allegedly “went after the wife of Africa’s most feared man at the time”.

“There is a strong belief among the security chiefs that he is daring, reckless and excitable. This is from a security point of view,” a security source said.

JOC chiefs “are sweating” and for good reason!

Anyone who has followed Zanu PF politics will know that JOC is the real power behind the throne. The 2014 factional war between Robert Mugabe and Mai Mujuru was mess but it was not dangerous, at least, not as dangerous as the G40 and Lacoste factional war that followed.

For those who don’t know, JOC is the Junta, composed of the top brass in the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services plus a few select Zanu PF individuals headed by Robert Mugabe (until the fateful 15 November 2017 when he was booted out in the coup) and assisted by Emmerson Mnangagwa. JOC is the real power behind the throne in Zimbabwe.

JOC has always played a key role in the establishment and retention of the de facto one-party Zanu PF dictatorship starting with the Gukurahundi massacre that forced PF Zapu to sign the 1987 Unity Accord, laying the fountain of the one-party state. And over the years the Police and CIO have played the key role of disrupting, harassing and even killing Zanu PF’s political opponents and critics.

But, without doubt, JOC came to its own in the 2008 elections when the junta was called up to wrestle political power from Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends. It was none other than Emmerson Mnangagwa who step up and mobilised the Junta. ZEC was instructed not to declare the election result and JOC spend the next six weeks cooking up new election results.

Morgan Tsvangirai’s 73% votes, according to Mugabe’s Freudian slip, was whittled down to 47%, enough to force the runoff. During the runoff JOC conducted a military style Operation “Mavhotera ani!” (Whom did you vote for!) A rhetorical question since JOC had just spent the last six weeks cooking up the result.

Operation Mavhotera ani carried out by war veterans, Zanu PF militia with the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services personal, under orders from JOC, carrying out the heavy-duty stuff like abducting and murders. The wanton violence was punishment for rejecting Zanu PF in the earlier vote.

“Zanu PF has declared war on the people!” complained Tsvangirai as he announced his withdrawal from the runoff.

Of course, everyone knew in executing operation Mavhotera ani JOC the Junta had crossed the Rubicon River; from hence forth the Army, the Police, CIO and the Prison Service will having keeping Zanu PF in power as its number one priority and serving the nation will come a poor second.

The 2014 factional war that resulted in Mai Mujuru and company being booted out was not a worrying moment for the Junta because neither Mai Mujuru nor anyone of her supporters commanded much support Junta support. Indeed, Mai Mujuru was blamed for Zanu PF’s electoral in the March 2008 and hence the reason she played no part in the coup that followed.

The November 2017 military coup was different in that it divided JOC itself. The Army and Prison Service supported the Lacoste faction whilst the Police and CIO supported G40 factions led by Grace Mugabe on behalf of her husband. Senior members in G40 faction, Police and CIO were either booted out of office or were haunted out of the country.

It should be stated here for the record that the 2008 to 2013 GNU offered Zimbabwe the best opportunity even to implement the democratic reforms and dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all. The reform, fully implemented, would have severed the bonds that have turned the Army, Police, etc. into Zanu PF departments in all but name.

Sadly, Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends who were entrusted the task of implementing the reforms failed to implement even one reform. Not even one!

“3/4 of the MDC leaders are double agents owned and controlled by Zanu PF. MDC is as much a department of Zanu PF in all but name just as the Army and Police!” boasted a Zanu PF crony.

Well, that would certainly explain why not even one MDC leader had the common sense to propose even one reform in five years of the GNU. And why MDC leaders are all, to the man and woman, insisting on participating in flawed and illegal elections even when ZEC has failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll.

It is hard to believe all the MDC leaders are that stupid to believe in these Chamisa “winning in rigged elections strategies”, especially after 41 years of rigged elections. Some MDC leaders are stupid, many. As for the reminder, they must be sell-outs!

It has been four years since the November 2017 military coup and the promised economic recovery has not materialised. When Mnangagwa proclaimed “Zimbabwe is open for business!” He was cocksure this was going to open the floodgate the much-needed investment and economic recovery. Well, there been no new investment and the economic meltdown has continued.

The failure by Mnangagwa to revive the economy means there is pressure in the country for change.

G40, Police and CIO members who were side-lined following the 2017 military coup have watched the economic meltdown and rubbed their hands with glen. They were blamed for the economic meltdown before the coup and now they cannot hide their pleasure in pointing out that the real criminals were those remained after the coup.

The failure to revive the economy has opened the door for G40 revival in Zanu PF. The G40 supporters cowed down in the aftermath of the November 2017 military coup have been emboldened by the worsening economic situation and growing public unrest.

Even if JOC block James Makamba being elected chairperson of Mashonaland Central there will be more G40 leaders who will be elected into high office; the G40 faction revival is real and it is being fuelled by the economic meltdown.

JOC members know the revival of G40 is on the cards and rivalry in G40 and Lacoste will permeate into JOC. The mistrust between the two faction means JOC will have to step in once again to decide which faction prevails. The November 2017 military coup did not result in any bloodshed in the Army, Police, etc. the next coup may have a totally different outcome.

Hosiah Chipanga’s Son Pushed For DNA Tests

By A Correspondent- Lancelot Chibwana, a Zim dancehall artiste who claims to be the illegitimate son of veteran Sungura musician, Hosiah Chipanga, is at loggerheads with his alleged father after pushing for a paternity test.

Chibwana is attempting to force Chipanga to undergo DNA tests to ascertain whether the veteran musician is truly his biological father.

He claimed that Chipanga has been deliberately avoiding him since 2010 and has not been picking up his calls.

Speaking in an interview with The Sunday Mail from his rural home in Watsomba, Chipanga insisted that Chibwana is not his son and will never go for a paternity test with him. Said Chipanga:

I don’t want to talk to Lancelot because he is not my son. I have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with him.

I am not going for the DNA tests because I am 100 per cent sure that he is not my child.

Of course, I once stayed with his mother, but he is not my son.

He must mind his own business and leave me alone.

Chibwana was born in Murehwa in 1988 and was raised by his maternal relatives after her mother, Memory Chibwana, died in 1994.

He said that before her death, her mother had introduced him to Chipanga as his biological son.

In 2005, Chibwana briefly stayed with Chipanga at his home in Dangamvura, Mutare before the pair moved to Harare.

Chipanga then incorporated Chibwana into his band but their relationship took a nosedive after working together for five years.

Chibwana had tried but failed to defraud Chipanga by attempting to change the ownership of his house by putting it into his name. Said Chibwana:

Without informing my father, I had attempted to change the ownership of the house and put my name, but I failed.

I was booted out of the house and he has since declared that he is not my biological father.

ED Commitment To Allow Open Discussion Of Gukurahundi Under Threat

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s commitment to allow open discussions about the Gukurahundi atrocities is under threat after armed police in Bulawayo yesterday besieged Stanley Hall in Makokoba and stopped a memorial event from taking place.

Police cordoned off the venue as early as 8:30am where the event was expected to be held and graced by various human rights’ groups pushing for redress of the 1980s killings.

The event was meant to coincide with the signing of the Unity Accord between the late former President Robert Mugabe and Zapu leader Joshua Nkomo on December 22 1987, to mark the end of the Gukurahundi killings.

The commemorations were supposed to start with a march from the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo statue in the city centre, organisers of the event said.

“We had notified the police about the commemorations, but were surprised that the police could not allow the event to go ahead,” one of the organisers, Ibhetshu LikaZulu co-ordinator Mbuso Fuzwayo said.

“They (police) said the gathering cannot go ahead and this is contrary to what the President is saying that the emotive issue must be talked about freely.”

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube was not answering his phone when reached for comment.

James Makamba Disqualified From Zanu PF Elections

Former ZANU PF Chairperson  James Makamba has reportedly exited the party provincial group after the party Politburo disqualified him from contesting in the chairman race.

The security chiefs disqualified  Makamba who had submitted his curriculum vitae together with the incumbent  chairperson Kazembe Kazembe and Mazowe District  Coordinating Committee  (DCC) chairperson  Tafadzwa Musarara.

The race is now between Kazembe and Musarara who both hail from Mazowe and are political rivals from constituency level since 2013.

However, Makamba’s supporters have publicly thrown their weight on Musarara giving him an upper hand in Mount Darwin   while Kazembe is strong in Muzarabani where his collegue Minister of Energry has urged the whole district to vote for Kazembe.

ZANU PF national political commissar Mike Bimha announced  that provincial elections  will be held on December 28  and politiburo members Omega Hungwe and RM Ndlovu will be in- charge of Mash Central  provincial elections.

16 Years In Prison For Raping Brother’s Daughter

Masvingo – Nickel Chikwanda from village 15B Chamanhure who was caught pants down with his brother’s 12-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Chikwanda raped the girl on several occasions after he initially enticed her by promising her some zap nax.

Chikwada appeared before Magistrate Patience Madondo.

The court which was also attended by The Mirror was told that the complainant’s mother used to entrust her daughter with the accused to the extent that she would send her to assist Chikwanda with household chores including washing plates.

It is on one of these missions that the accused promised to buy the complainant some zap nax and had sex with her. He then had sex with the complainant on several other occasions before he was caught.

On the fateful day on March 12 this year, the accused was tasked to escort the complainant to her grandmother’s house because it was dark. The accused diverted the route and took the complainant to his house and had sexual intercourse with her. He then asked the complainant to spend the night with him.

At around 7pm a call was made to the grandmother to confirm if the complainant had arrived safely. The grandmother responded negatively and some relatives went and checked at the accused’s house.

One of the relatives knocked on Chikwanda’s bedroom and the accused took time to respond and the relatives peeped through the window only to see the two naked.

The matter was reported to Police after the girl narrated everything that was happening.
Liberty Hove prosecuted.

Three years were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence for the next five years.

Under Performing Chitungwiza Town Clerk Denied Bonus

Chitungwiza councillors have resolved to cut January salaries of the municipality’s management by 30%, while acting town clerk Evangelista Machona has been denied a bonus.

There will also be no salary increment for the first 100 days of the year for council management, owing to poor performance, including dwindling revenues.

This was revealed by Chitungwiza mayor Lovemore Maiko, who told NewsDay that councillors took the decision to hold management to account for poor performance.

“Councillors took the management to task and held it to account for underperformance. The review done in line with the integrated results-based management-proved that the management’s 2021 performance was dismal. The performance was around 27% which is below council’s expectation,” Maiko said in an interview.

“As a result, council resolved that the acting town clerk will not get a bonus for this year, all management from grade 13-16 will have a 30% salary deduction for January 2022 and that there shall be no salary increment for the same grades  for the first 100 days of 2022. The salary can only be reviewed based on performance.”

When contacted for comment yesterday, the acting town clerk said discussions on salary cuts were underway.

“It was only a discussion. I have no ‘head and tail’ of this issue. Those are part of discussions for which I have no conclusion,” Machona said.

Chitungwiza Municipal Workers Union president Ephraim Katsina could not be drawn to comment on the matter, preferring to say: “I cannot say whether this is bad, or good.

“The employer, who is the council, has seen it fit to put that resolution and I respect the resolution.”

In 2020, Machona was implicated in a housing stands scandal.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission in November unearthed several cases of corruption in the allocation of housing stands involving management and councillors.

A recent research, conducted by the National Association of Youth Organisations (Nayo), shows that 35% of residents in Chitungwiza were swindled by land barons, losing millions of dollars in the process.

According to Nayo, 69% of residents in the sprawling town were concerned about being defrauded their hard-earned cash by politically-connected land barons while 57% of the residents were concerned about the rise in corruption involving illegal land sales.

100 Nabbed In Byo For Failing To Mask-Up, Public Drinking

POLICE in Bulawayo yesterday arrested over 100 people for violating COVID-19 regulations.

Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga on Tuesday urged officers commanding provinces to be tough with those found violating COVID-19 regulations.

“We have arrested over 100 people for failing to mask up, violating curfew orders and public drinking,” Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended COVID lockdown measures by a further two weeks following a sharp rise in confirmed cases. The announcement also followed the detection of the Omicron variant in the country.

Under the new measures, returning residents and visitors must undergo PCR tests and be quarantined at their own expense, regardless of the PCR test result; curfew runs from 9pm to 6am while a ban on alcohol consumption at bottlestores stands.

Marry Mubaiwa Exposes Chiwenga, Says He Is Not A Politician

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga has dismissed his husband saying he is not a politician.

Marry said Chiwenga was still firmly in control of military operations which he continues to run from his office despite retiring in 2018 following the November 2017 coup.

Posting Twitter, Marry demanded the custody of her children who still living with Chiwenga following their messy break-up last year.

“My husband VP Chiwenga is not a politican (sic), he was never one and never will, my husband took his military hat of Commander and into his place of work now, he commands, he is doing military touch into his place of work, soldiers still take instructions from him,” she said.

Chiwenga was Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander from 2004 t0 2017.

It is however his continued association with the military that could probably come as a source of concern to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chiwenga led the 2017 military coup that toppled long serving President Robert Mugabe, replacing him with the now incumbent who had been deputy to Mugabe.

During his time as Mugabe deputy, Mnangagwa also had close liaison to the country’s military, something widely thought to have given him the base to mastermind the former leader’s shock ouster.

When Mnangagwa returned to the country following a brief exile period in South Africa after his sacking by Mugabe November 2017, he announced he was in “constant touch” with the then Chiwenga led military during the tense period around the now late former President’s ouster.

Marry has said before that Chiwenga harbours Presidential ambitions.

However, in public pronouncements, the former military boss continues to declare loyalty to Mnangagwa but has never denied harbouring his own Presidential ambitions.

Under Fire Jonathan Moyo Fed Up With ‘Toxic’ Zim Political Environment

Zimbabwe’s political environment is “toxic” with citizens polarised by personality politics, self-exiled former Cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo has said.

Moyo was responding to a public backlash after he urged the MDC Alliance to divert funds raised for the purchase of a bullet-proof car for opposition leader Nelson Chamisa towards mobilising polling agents for the 2023 elections.

Zimbabweans in the diaspora have raised over US$120 000 for the purchase of an armoured vehicle after his convoy came under attack during his meet-the-people tours in rural areas.

Moyo said Zimbabwe was engrossed in personality politics.

“The one major reason why Zimbabweans, as a body politic, are ill-prepared to deal with the country’s deteriorated political conditions is because they are balkanised by the politics of affection; driven by principals over principles, wherein personalities always trump up ideas!,” Moyo tweeted.

“As a telling example of the toxic tragedy of Zimbabwe’s politics of affection today, last week I found myself in the ire of cultic anger, after I dared challenge the wisdom of the US$120 000 GoFundMe for a VIP bulletproof car for @nelsonchamisa.

“Notably, the trolls did not offer much of an argument nor really want me to explain myself; all they were about was to demonise me, as a person. Objectively speaking, it’s irrational for a party with no institutional capacity and in desperate need for administrative support, within the calendar cycle of a general election, to prioritise the purchase of a VIP bulletproof car for its leader.”

But MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere dismissed Moyo’s rant saying the fundraising drive was not a party initiative.

“The fundraising we have seen by the diaspora across the world is citizen driven not party driven. The citizens have the right to set their priorities and take action in the manner they see best to support the struggle,” Mahere said.

“The clear message from the people is that they will own, scaffold and support the struggle. They will stand shoulder to shoulder with Chamisa and the movement as we face persecution.”

Information permanent secretary Nick Mangwana recently said the yet-to-be bought vehicle risked being seized.

Marry Mubaiwa In Desperate Bid To Have Chiwenga Sanctioned

Former beauty queen and estranged wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry Mubaiwa has launched a lone campaign for the top government official to be blocked from entering any country over alleged child abuse.

Mubaiwa accuses Chiwenga of denying her access to the couple’s three children since their messy separation 2019.

She is adamant this was a violation of the minors’ rights which should not be condoned either by the international community.

There are indications the VP intends to travel outside the country with the children, something that has ignited a spirited call by the troubled former model for any world country not to grant entry to Chiwenga.

Mubaiwa took to social media Thursday night to vent her frustrations about the treatment she has received from the VP, posting a series of tweets with almost similar messages.

“Allowing Constantino Chiwenga into any country with my children is accepting human trafficking as they are young children. Are my children still there, I wonder. He is breaking the laws that they put in place and breaking them…” she said.

The former model insists, “my children should not leave the country without my consent” adding, “our airport and immigration must not allow him to exit this country”.

Mubaiwa wants the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court to intervene into her plight.

“UNHRC should not allow VP Chiwenga into any country until he gives me my children. I don’t know if they are still alive or if they are not being abused as he has no time for them. They are below 10years, International Criminal Court must take a look at this and assist,” she says.

She accuses the former military commander of abusing his current status as the country’s Vice President to violate the law.

Chiwenga, on his part, has insisted in court papers that his former wife was having mental health challenges, hence unsuitable to take custody of the couple’s children.

22-Year Old Woman Raped At A Prophet’s Shrine

A self-styled prophet allegedly raped a 22-year-old married woman at his Harare shrine recently.

According to a police memo seen by this publication, the prophet, Trymore Nyaunde lured the victim to his shrine in the pretext that he wanted to cleanse her.

“Circumstances are that the complainant was seated in Glen Norah Park with her husband trying to settle their marital differences since the two are not living together. The accused approached them and started prophesizing complainant’s husband.

“He then invited the two to come and meet him at his shrine the following day for a cleansing evil spirits affecting their marriage. The following day, the 19th of December 2021 at around 1200hours complainant phoned her husband asking him to meet at the Park so that they could proceed to Madzibaba’s shrine which is situated within the Park.

“Complainant’s husband refused citing he had no time and he wanted to go to work. Complainant decided to go by herself.”

“Upon arrival, he met the accused person who told her that his husband was bewitched by his girlfriend so the deliverance process required her to look for a boyfriend and have sexual intercourse with him then wipe the semen with a cloth.”

“She would then bring back the semen to him for the deliverance process. Complainant told the accused that she could not go and look for a boyfriend thus the accused offered to take the part of the boyfriend. The accused asked complainant to lie down and remove her pant to which she complied. The accused then had sexual intercourse with complainant once without her consent.”

“After the act complainant used a white cloth which the accused had given her, to wipe the semen. The accused then laced the cloth with some smoking snuff (Bute) before burning it at the shrine. The accused then gave complainant some smoking snuff (Bute) to smear on her face and stomach before leaving for her husband’s place as she had been promised by the accused that her husband would automatically accept her back.”

“When complainant arrived at her husband’s place, her husband refused to take her back and she realized that she had been duped.”

“The following day, the 20th of December 2021 complainant went back to see the accused and told him that his process did not work but instead, the accused requested to have sexual intercourse with her again.”

“Complainant refused and left the shrine to Christ Life International Church where she narrated her ordeal to Pastor Simbarashe Kamudede who then visited the shrine together with complainant where they located the accused”.

Meanwhile the accused is in police custody on rape charges.

Jonathan Moyo Break Ranks With MDC Alliance

SELF-EXILED former minister Jonathan Moyo has withdrawn an offer to train MDC Alliance polling agents ahead of the elections expected in 2023, claiming the opposition party failed to take a clear position on the proposal.

Moyo said the MDC Alliance failed to make its position clear after an online publication said the offer had divided the opposition party, with some named officials said to have vowed to resist it.

Zanu-PF officials ridiculed Moyo.

The former Higher and Tertiary Education minister in September offered to support MDC Alliance polling agents at all polling stations in the Tsholotsho constituency and to train 44 000 polling agents.

“When neither the mentioned senior MDC Alliance officials nor the party clarified the situation, on the back of growing messages on various social media platforms that were sharing the article coupled with direct messages that were asking for my position, I wrote to the MDC Alliance secretary-general (Charlton Hwende) on October 11, 2021, withdrawing my offer to train MDC Alliance polling agents in Tsholotsho and to train the party’s 44 000  polling agents for the 2023 elections, citing the party’s silence,” Moyo said in an emailed response.

The MDC Alliance was found wanting in the 2023 elections after failing to field polling agents in several polling stations.

The opposition party rejected the 2018 election results, but admitted that it did not have data from a fifth of the nearly 11 000 polling stations due to lack of polling agents.

“My offer was based on having previously trained polling agents in particular, but generally, after having been directly involved in six elections – four of them as a candidate in 2005, 2008, 2013 and 2015 – and three of them as Zanu-PF’s publicity campaign manager in 2000, 2002 and 2013,” Moyo added.

“I also managed and co-ordinated the publicity campaign of the “Yes Vote” in the referendum of the 2000 draft constitution. Besides this direct participation in elections, I have run seminars and given numerous lectures and written articles and two books on elections in Zimbabwe.”

Hwende said the opposition party was still considering Moyo’s offer.

“We took note of the offer to assist Zimbabweans in defending their vote through training and also offering assistance. I have talked to a number of people who have also offered some form of help and once the modalities are in place, we will reach out to him and other Zimbabweans that have offered assistance,” Hwende said in a telephone interview.

Moyo, however, said without trained polling agents, it was difficult to back claims of election rigging.

“And sadly, while it is now taken as a given that every election in Zimbabwe since 1980, but particularly since 2000, has been stolen, the fact is that this axiomatic belief is not supported by any empirical evidence because there is none.”

“VP Chiwenga Still Giving Orders In The Army”

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is still giving orders to the army, three years after trading military fatigues for civilian suits, according to his estranged wife Marry Mubaiwa.

Chiwenga retired from the helm of the defence forces soon after orchestrating the November 2017 military coup to become vice president.

He was succeeded as commander of the defence forces by General Valerio Sibanda.

Mubaiwa who has been in and out of court over the past two years on several criminal and civil cases, including attempting to kill Chiwenga, forgery, and money laundering.

“My husband VP Chiwenga is not a politician, he was never one and never will, my husband took his military hat of Commander and into his place of work now,” Mubaiwa said in a tweet.

“He commands. He is doing military touch into his place of work; soldiers still take instructions from him.”

Marry’s averments come at a time Chiwenga is reportedly fighting a major factional war with Mnangagwa.

They lead distinct, militarised factions fighting for control of the heart and soul of Zanu-PF and state levers of power.

Marry has also previously disclosed how Chiwenga was obsessed with the idea of succeeding Mnangagwa, saying he is making moves to win the presidency by hook or otherwise.

Chiwenga, on his part, has publicly pledged loyalty to Mnangagwa, claiming all he wants is to fight for Zanu-PF and its leader to remain in power.

However, his sentiments have found few takers, with watchers repeatedly describing them as banter aimed at appeasing his principal.

Since assuming power in 2017, Mnangagwa has spent the better part of his reign consolidating his power base and coup-proofing himself through purging military bosses thought to be sympathetic to his ambitious deputy.

“Are My Children Still There?”: Marry Chiwenga’s Heartrending Plea

By A Correspondent- VP Constantino Chiwenga’s estrangled wife Marry has made a plea for the custody of her minors accusing the VP of violating the laws of the country.

She made the plea on twitter where she posted:

“Allowing Constantino Chiwenga into any country with my children is accepting human trafficking as they are young children. Are my children still there, I wonder. He is breaking the laws that they put in place and breaking them…”

Prof Jonathan Moyo Tears Into “Toxic” Zimbos

By A Correspondent- Self-exiled former Zanu PF Politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo says Zimbabwe’s political environment is toxic, with citizens divided by personality politics rather than the politics of ideas.

Moyo received a public backlash on social media after he suggested that the US$120 000 raised by Zimbabweans in the diaspora for the purchase of a bullet-proof car for MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa be diverted towards training polling agents for the 2023 elections.

Posting on Twitter, Moyo described the decision to purchase the bullet-proof car as “irrational”, saying the MDC Alliance should prioritise enhancing its institutional and administrative capacities. He wrote:

The one major reason why Zimbabweans, as a body politic, are ill-prepared to deal with the country’s deteriorated political conditions is that they are balkanised by the politics of affection; driven by principals over principles, wherein personalities always trump up ideas!.

As a telling example of the toxic tragedy of Zimbabwe’s politics of affection today, last week I found myself in the ire of cultic anger after I dared challenge the wisdom of the US$120 000 GoFundMe for a VIP bulletproof car for @nelsonchamisa.

Notably, the trolls did not offer much of an argument nor really want me to explain myself; all they were about was to demonise me, as a person.

Objectively speaking, it’s irrational for a party with no institutional capacity and in desperate need of administrative support, within the calendar cycle of a general election, to prioritise the purchase of a VIP bulletproof car for its leader.

Meanwhile, MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the fundraising drive was not a party initiative and citizens have the right to set their priorities.

Said Mahere:

The fundraising we have seen by the diaspora across the world is citizen-driven not party-driven.

The citizens have the right to set their priorities and take action in the manner they see best to support the struggle.

The clear message from the people is that they will own, scaffold and support the struggle.

They will stand shoulder to shoulder with Chamisa and the movement as we face persecution.

The fundraising campaign was launched after Chamisa’s convoy came under attack during his meet-the-people tours in rural areas in October.-Newsday

Threatened Mnangagwa Blocks Zapu Celebrations

By- The police last week blocked Zapu’s 60th anniversary celebrations that were set to take place at the home of the late Father Zimbabwe Joshua Nkomo in Kezi, Matabeleland South province.Nkomo led PF Zapu from 1961 as its founding leader until the party merged with Zanu PF in 1987 following the signing of the Unity Accord.
He died in 1999.
His son, Sibangilizwe, said police blocked the planned celebrations scheduled for Nkomo’s St Joseph homestead in Nyongolo area citing, COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings. Various organisations and political parties from across southern Africa were expected to grace the event.
“We notified the police a month ago about the celebrations that were expected to be held on December 18 with only about 200 people expected to attend,” Nkomo said.
“We had to cancel the event, what surprises me is that they had an event at Makorokoro in the same week about 50km from Nyongolo area where there were about a thousand cars, including helicopters and people that were bussed there just to witness the commissioning of a garden.
“Does that mean they cannot be affected by COVID?”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in Makorokoro last week to launch what the State-run ZBC described as the “Matabeleland South marketing project.”
He toured the vegetable garden and addressed a rally attended by hundreds of Zanu PF supporters, many of them bussed from neighbouring villages and some from as far as Plumtree and Maphisa.
On Wednesday in Bulawayo police also stopped a Gukurahundi memorial that was set to take place at Stanley Hall, Makokoba suburb.
On Monday, armed police also disrupted a Christmas party for the elderly and vulnerable that was being hosted by MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.

100 Arrested In Shebeens, Bar Raids

By-Bulawayo, police have arrested more than 100 people who were drinking beer in shebeens and bars after curfew hours.

On Tuesday, Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga issued a solid warning to bars and shebeens operating outside the law.

Zimbabwe is under a level two lockdown and businesses are supposed to close at 7PM.

The curfew runs from 9PM to 6AM.

A drive around Bulawayo revealed that some bars, nightclubs and shebeens in and around the city are operating at full throttle, with others holding shows that stretch into the wee hours of the morning.

Police are raiding the bars and shebeens after 7pm, but many reopen soon after the police leave.

Bulawayo police provincial spokesperson, Inspector Abednego Ncube has conceded that operators of some nightspots and shebeens are defiant despite police raids.

“We keep on raiding but some bars and shebeens reopen soon after we leave and we are contemplating prosecuting the owners instead of just arresting revellers.

“We have a problem with a shebeen in Old Magwegwe, it’s being raided regularly but it continues to operate.

“We need cooperation from the community and residents of Old Magwegwe are having problems because of this shebeen,” said Insp Ncube.

Recently residents of Suburbs in the city wrote a letter to the Bulawayo City Council complaining that a night spot in the area is depriving them of their sleep and its activities threaten their security as it opens until the wee hours of the morning.

The residents said they did not understand why the nightspot is allowed to violate curfew hours.

The BCC threatened to revoke the night spot’s licence and a show with two South African artistes which was billed for the nightspot had to be moved at the last minute to the outskirts of the city.

Insp Ncube said police will continue arresting people who violate the regulations and so far more than a 100 have been arrested.

“We will enforce the lockdown regulations as directed by Commissioner General of Police.

“We are warning those that continue to be defiant that they will not only be arrested but will also be prosecuted including bar owners and shebeen queens.

“They shouldn’t cry foul when we descend on them,” said Insp Ncube.

Mnangagwa Says State House Belongs To Me, It’s Rhodes’ Corpse That Must Be Removed

ANALYSIS | Emmerson Mnangagwa has held a meeting with the forces of reality, following his wish to exhume the late businessman and imperialist Cecil John Rhodes.#

Emmerscecil – graphicature

Mnangagwa wants to

repatriate Rhodes’ remains back to Britain. This comes at a time when his announcement triggered sporadic views on the pros and cons of such a move.

The prolific US based writer Bvumavaranda opened the thread by outlining his own views saying Rhodes has to be exhumed.

Exhumation moves summed up in an analysis – ZimEye

Bvumavaranda said:

Cecil John Rhodes had a deep understanding of the ways of ancient Egypt. Some may very well say his knowledge was esoteric. Indeed, I have come across whisperers who say Rhodes was a Freemason. The so-called secret information and sacred knowledge are not that esoteric, I think. Rhodes had initially wanted to be buried at Great Zimbabwe, a stone monument falling on the same longitude as ancient Egyptian monuments at Giza, Nabta Playa and Karima. According to the information given to the late historian, Professor Ranger, someone disclosed the spiritual and cosmological significance of the place where Rhodes was ultimately buried.

As is evident in the picture, he was buried paruware. Typically, such a place is used as a threshing floor for processing grain. The leader the ancient Egyptians saluted as the Great Lord, but mispronounced by the alien but respectful Greeks as Osiris, is said to have been buried beneath a threshing floor. The place was chosen as an ideal place for hiding the Great Lord’s body from his enemy and murderer. Indeed, we are told that the ancient Egyptians considered a burial an act of concealment. As an aside, the Karanga term for burial I am familiar with is KUVIGA, meaning to hide.

Anyhow, the Egyptian Great Lord’s burial/concealment/kuvigwa beneath pachipuriro/paruware was replayed upon the death and burial of Nyatsimba Mutota. Mutota is said to have been concealed beneath paruware, according to what was shared by Adrian Nyakwava and historian Jim Latham. The latter teaches us that eight baobab trees were strategically planted around Mutota’s grave. Each tree was a proxy or representative of each of Mutota’s eight councilors or ministers. Tuwuyu tusere, the eight baobab trees, and the concealed body of Mutota lead us to one of the ancient Egyptian customs. We know, or are taught, that the ancient Egyptians understood the Heavenly court to be presided by a chief G_B_/G_V_ and eight assistants. The burial of Mutota gives tantalizing hints at what looks like a link to an ancient Egyptian custom.

In the Bible, when Jacob dies in Egypt, his sons taken him back to Canaan. On arrival, the mourners take Jacob’s mummified body to a threshing floor. As they conduct the funeral service, the onlooking Canaanites tell us they were witnessing an Egyptian funeral.

Going back to Nyatsimba Mutota and the Tuwuyu Tusere, I seem to notice some boulders around Rhodes illegal and sacrilegious grave. From what I can make, there seems to be seven boulders. Are there eight boulders? If there are, were they naturally there before Rhodes’ burial? I ask this question bearing in mind that we call the site of Rhodes’ burial MARINDADZIMU because we say our Karanga ancestors sleep at place since deep antiquity.

Along this vein, I hear Mnangagwa is contemplating the long-overdue exhumation and removal of the body of Cecil John Rhodes. It is all well and good for as long as it is not a political gimmick deeply steeped in gross ignorance. I express this fear given what has been happening at the similarly significant Dambarare. That place, important as it is in terms of its spiritual, historical, and cultural significance, has been ravaged in the hard-to-understand establishment of what I hear will be a city named after some one-horse village in Scotland. I do not think even a cursory archaeological study was conducted at Dambarare before the Chinese earth-moving equipment were dispatched to Dambarare. These gimmicks leave me completely scared, especially coming from ignorant “leaders.”

My hope is that we do not repeat the sacrilege we are witnessing at Dambarare. Marindadzimu is way too important to be mishandled in like manner. We will have to understand every historical, spiritual and associated protocols as we seek the restoration of the spiritual and cosmological role of this Holy place. At that place, we can ill-afford to mess around like the nonsense we are witnessing at Dambarare.

Response from Simba Chikanza |

Interesting points raised here, though I have a few contentions:

  1. That there is a body inside. There is none, as Rhodes was cremated.
  2. That his presence is a defilement of the place, and the basis upon which he must be exhumed # what exactly is it? Is it because of being buried at a sacred site? Are we sure he is the only foreign invader buried at Matopos, or we just know his case because of the visible grave.
  3. Of what Cosmological or spiritual value is an exhumation and is Rhodes the only ‘cruel’ imperialist or invader buried on the land during this nation’s millennial history?
  4. Do not such opinions help feed the risky political thinking you’re cautioning against?
  5. Seeing the many hundreds of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Gukurahundi victims buried in shallow graves there, is Rhodes the only person “improperly” buried at Matopos or you’re targeting him because his grave is more visible?

While you’re busy trying to exhume Rhodes’ skeleton which is not even there, do you not have a real Rhodes who invaded State House in 2017-18, and who’s currently directing your rage towards Matobo? You’re already currently trying to pull out Mugabe’s skeleton from Zvimba. By year end, how many will you have exhumed, and how much money blown that could have saved lives?

Instead of monumentalising Cecil John Rhodes as a National Asset, the way US, UK, Australia have of their own, you are here busy looking for a skeleton which is not even there. This same Rhodes you call a curse, literally assembled this country out several scattered chieftainships which had little connection or strategy to the outside world. How many Rhodes are there right now buried in US, a country that does belong to them, but yet transformed that jungle into a superpower that’s now greater than its mother nation, Britain? If they are a curse to the nation, how many Rhodes characters are right now buried in New Zealand, Canadian, and Australian mountains? This man was a businessman, no matter his failings, and if you had monumentalised him, would Zimbabwe not by bow have produced thousands of its own black Rhodes going round the world conquering the planet for this nation, the way the tiny nation of Britain did?

How many Cecil John Rhodes would you have produced? Right now the only to only two to talk about are Strive Masiyiwa, and Douglas Munetsi (murdered this year). The last remaining Rhodes, Masiyiwa won’t come back because he will be killed or become dispossessed, or both, once landing in his country of birth, and after that you will go after his corpse also?

State Prosecutor Michael Reza At It Again, Sides With Controversial Businessman Ken Sharpe

BY A CORRESPONDENT| After making headlines in 2018 when his unprincipled interference and bullying of a female Harare Magistrate was laid bare for the world to see, Deputy Prosecutor General Michael Reza has torched another storm.

Reza has been caught with his hands in the cookie jar and now stands accused of siding with controversial land baron, Ken Sharpe in his long running court battle against Harare businessman George Katsimberis.

In his answering affidavit deposed before the High Court, Katsimberis who is seeking for a review of Harare Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi’s ruling which dismissed his application for referral of his case to the Constitutional Court said Reza and another state prosecutor Tafara Charambira had failed the objectivity test by siding with Sharpe and his accomplices.

The Harare developer accused Reza of developing an incestuous relationship with a Pokugara official named Tatiana Aleshina.

“My complaints against the prosecution were that they developed a health and incestuous relationship with complainants in particular a woman known as Tatiana Aleshina.

“The state would spend hours with this woman even though she was not a state witness,” said Katsimberis.

He further objected and questioned the basis of Charambira swearing an affidavit on behalf of the state without authority from his boss Mr Kumbirai Hodzi.

“I object to Tafara Chirambira making an affidavit on behalf of the state. The head of the state is the head of the national prosecuting authority. Therefore only Mr. Kumbirai Hodzi can swear in this affidavit

“In circumstances where he cannot swear for whatever reason, then the opposing affidavit filed by the state must indicate the authority from Mr Hodzi and why he is unable to make and swore an affidavit for and on behalf of the state,” added Katsimberis.

He also expressed concern over the tone of the opposing affidavit deposed by Charambira on behalf the state saying he had no knowledge of the matter in question but responded in a way that raised question marks on his relationship with Pokugara Properties and Sharpe.

“Besides the tone of the affidavit is not neutral. Firstly Mr Tafara Chirambira has no knowledge of the facts and of the dispute between myself Michael Van Blerk, Pokugara and Kenneth Raydon Sharpe.

“Yet he swears this affidavit as if he is aware of the facts and is in fact an official of Pokugara Properties,” said Katsimberis.

US To Lift Omicron Travel Ban On Southern Africa

By-The United States of America will on 31 December lift restrictions on travellers from Southern African nations, imposed last month in a bid to slow down the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.

White House’s assistant press secretary, Kevin Munoz, said that the restrictions will be lifted in line with a recommendation from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Munoz tweeted on Friday:

On Dec. 31, [President Joe Biden] will lift the temporary travel restrictions on Southern Africa countries. This decision was recommended by [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].

The restrictions gave us time to understand Omicron and we know our existing vaccines work against Omicron, [especially] boosted.

The US ban applied to South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

Al Jazeera quoted a senior White House official as saying with Omicron present across the US and globally, international travellers from the eight affected countries would not have a significant effect on US cases. Said the official:

During the travel pause, President Biden reduced the time for pre-departure testing to one day as opposed to three days … travellers from these eight countries will be subject to these same strict protocols.

70 Die In Elephants, Crocodile Attacks

By-The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority said that 71 people lost their lives due to human-wildlife conflict between January and December this year.

The organisation’s spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo, said crocodiles and elephants account for the bulk of the fatal attacks.

“Elephants and crocodiles account for most of the deaths although here and there we have incidences that involve other animals such as buffaloes and others. This year alone we recorded 71 deaths while 50 people were injured by wild animals compared to about 60 deaths and 40 injuries last year,” he said.
Mr Farawo said Zimparks is carrying out awareness campaigns in affected areas to reduce cases of human- wildlife conflict.

He urged people to report the presence of problem animals in their areas at the nearest police station or Zimparks offices.
“We should appreciate that the elephant herd for example continues to grow but the land remains the same. At the same time human population is also growing hence the increased cases of human- wildlife conflict,” said Mr Farawo.
Zimbabwe is home to more than 100 000 elephants against a carrying capacity of about 45 000.
Mr Farawo said the population of elephants keeps growing making it difficult to monitor and track them.

He said wild animals usually get into human communities in search of water.
“Naturally elephants will move into human territory in search of water and food. When they do so, their interaction with human beings increases and cases of people being killed by them increase,” he said.

Police Warn Against Deliberate Spread Of COVID-19

POLICE are still searching for 12 COVID-19 positive inmates who escaped from a quarantine centre in Beitbridge, Matabeleland South province last Friday.

The inmates were put on mandatory quarantine after they tested positive to the novel virus. They had been deported from neighbouring South Africa.

12 Escape From Quarantine

POLICE are still searching for 12 COVID-19 positive inmates who escaped from a quarantine centre in Beitbridge, Matabeleland South province last Friday.

The inmates were put on mandatory quarantine after they tested positive to the novel virus. They had been deported from neighbouring South Africa.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told NewsDay yesterday that the hunt for the escapees was still on.

“The deportees are still on the run. We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding their escape,” he said.

Mnangagwa Wary Of Escalating Armed Robberies

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has described rising armed robbery cases across the country as a threat to personal and national security and has threatened a shoot-to-kill policy to deal with the criminals.

Of late, armed robbers have been targeting homes, businesses, mines, and motorists on highways, getting away with tens of thousands of United States dollars.

More worryingly is the fact that some of the suspected robbers are serving and former army and police officers who pounce on their victims armed with AK-47 rifles.

In his 2021 Unity Day message, Mnangagwa said armed robberies are becoming a menace, warning that “those who dabble in arms will soon fall by the sword”. He said:

Lately, we have witnessed an upsurge in gun-related crimes. There is a clear upsurge in the abuse of firearms, including violent armed robberies.

The government now treats this as a grave threat to personal and national security.

Decisive measures have now become necessary to put an end to this growing menace that threatens our otherwise peaceful, law-abiding nation and citizenry.

Those who dabble in arms will soon fall by the sword. Let them be warned.

Earlier this month, a retired detective, Joseph Nemaisa gunned down three armed robbers who were part of a five-man gang that had held his family hostage, demanding cash at his Chadcombe home.

It was later established that a soldier and a former police officer were among the dead while another serving soldier and former cop escaped and but were later arrested.

Mnangagwa Speaks On Chadcombe Shooting

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Emmerson Mnangagwa has been inspired by the former detective, Joseph Nemaisa, who recently shot and killed three armed robbers and said that government would soon adopt a shoot and kill policy on robbers.

Nemaisa gunned down a soldier and former cop at his Chadcombe home in Harare after attempting to rob his family.

“Lately, we have witnessed an upsurge in gun-related crimes,” Mnangagwa said in his Unity Day message.
“There is a clear upsurge in the abuse of firearms, including violent armed robberies. The government now treats this as a grave threat to personal and national security.”
“Decisive measures have now become necessary to put an end to this growing menace that threatens our otherwise peaceful, law-abiding nation and citizenry. Those who dabble in arms will soon fall by the sword. Let them be warned.”

Reports indicate that the criminals were taking advantage of porous borders to bring ammunition to Zimbabwe from neighbouring South Africa.
Other robbers are said to be using their service firearms to engage in violent crimes.

Top police and military brass have confirmed that some of their members and former officers were engaging in criminal activities.

Police Disrupt Gukurahundi Memorial Event

Police in Bulawayo on Wednesday blocked a Gukurahundi commemorative event held by pressure group, Ibhetshu LikaZulu, at Stanley Square.

The annual event is held on 22 December to remember the 20 000 victims of the 1980s Gukurahundi atrocities.

Ibhetshu LikaZulu had planned to march from Stanley Square to the Joshua Nkomo statue in the city centre but police details were deployed to block the event.

This year’s commemorations were held under the theme: “Can there be healing without truth-telling and justice?”

Speaking in an interview with CITE, Ibhetshu LikaZulu Secretary-General Mbuso Fuzwayo said the police conduct was not surprising. He said:
We are not surprised by the conduct of the police. They are part of the security forces that were responsible for the genocide.

It is sad that President Emmerson Mnangagwa always reiterates that people can now discuss openly Gukurahundi but every time when we hold commemorations they come and block us.

However, that is not going to stop the people from holding such events.

On 22 December 1987, the late ZAPU leader Joshua Nkomo signed the Unity Accord with the late ZANU PF leader Robert Mugabe.

The agreement brought to an end the State-sponsored Gukurahundi massacres in the Matabeleland region and parts of Midlands province.-CITE

“Mnangagwa Brutality Beyond Measure”

Hon Biti

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has pointed out that the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s brutality is beyond measure.

According to Hon Biti, Mr Mnangagwa is an epitome of callousness.

The nation is grappling with relentless economic turmoil, violation of human rights and social unrest.

“The callousness of this regime , it’s brutality and heartlessness is beyond measure .

We have a duty to undo the undemocratic anomaly that Emmerson represents. We have a duty to rescue our country from the jaws of capture chaos & crassness.

Things certainly can’t go on like this,” argued Hon Biti.

Emmerson Mnangagwa: We Are Enjoying Durable Peace As Zimbabweans

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s full statement on Unity Day:

This day, some 34 years ago, the founding fathers of our Nation, late Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo and Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe, appended their signatures to the iconic Document we know as the Unity Accord.

This momentous event of 22nd December 1987, extinguished fires of conflict which threatened our Nation, thus laying a strong foundation for the durable peace and unity we enjoy to this day.

It was a fine moment in the nation-building project, one whose priceless bequest has endured since, creating circumstances for stability, peace and national development.

On this day we thus stand back and reflect on the development which turned the fortunes of our Nation, indeed which spared our Nation the hurtful misunderstandings interposed, threatening peace and stability in those delicate, early years of our Independence.

We celebrate that reason eventually prevailed, giving us the glorious day we commemorate and celebrate today.

The key lesson from this preceding era of internal conflict should never be lost to us. Whatever differences and contradictions we face, or are likely to face in the future, these should always find resolution through peaceful dialogue in the interest of peace and national unity.

Nothing beats sitting down as one people to iron out any differences that exist or might arise. Peace in our Nation remains the foremost prize for which no price is too big to pay, no cause or ego too big to bend.

We are one, indivisible People, circumscribed by this our one Nation, built on this the only geopolitical space we can ever have as Zimbabweans.

As I address you, efforts continue to be deployed to build on that precious legacy of peace and national unity which the Unity Accord bequeathed us.

I have made it a personal mission to engage our citizens and our communities in the conflict zones of that unfortunate time of early Independence.

We have to boldly confront and tackle the aftermath of that era; heal wounds it left in its wake, and where possible, assuage persistent difficulties and challenges traceable to it.

This, I am resolved to do until we remove whatever bitter memories may still exist, and are likely to linger.

We are the generation that must resolve issues of early Independence conflict, so we release our children to move forward and ahead as a united people.

On countless occasions, I have met and interacted with interest groups, community and traditional leaders from Matabeleland and parts of Midlands, all with a view to establishing what needs to be done / so the after-effects of this regrettable era are put behind us.

Our traditional leaders, led by our Chiefs, have a great role to play in this regard. They preside over communities affected by the conflict; those hurt by the conflict are their subjects.

They know the hurts; hear all the cries from the era and have suggestions on what needs to be done.

As we give space to our traditional leaders to lead processes of reconciliation and repair, we should guard against those negative elements which aim to re-ignite frozen differences in order to throw us back into renewed conflict.

As always there are sinister forces that seek to profit from a divided and divisive past. They must not succeed.

We have built national institutions for conflict prevention, management and resolution. We have introduced in our daily workings, mechanisms to prevent conflicts, however minor or localised.

Above all, we continue to monitor and find answers to new, emerging situations of potential conflict so these are obviated before they occur. It is from such mechanisms, through such vigilance, that peace is forged and won, and that Nations get durably built.

A key area requiring and receiving serious attention is that of balanced, inclusive development which leaves no one and no community behind. Oftentimes, feelings of marginalisation or persistent inequities breed resentment and eventual conflict.

Examples abound on our continent, examples from which we must draw key lessons. Our cardinal policy on decentralised and devolved development is the answer.

That policy cedes decision-making and resources to communities who are empowered to draw up and implement plans for their own development and transformation.

That policy ensures broad-based, even development which ensures no person or community is left behind.

Through it, we address imbalances of history: both colonial and post-independent. Through it, we return Agency for development to individuals and communities.

Indeed through that far-reaching policy, we spread the benefits of growth and development evenly, thus avoiding the bane of a predatory State at the centre, vastly removed from the aspirations of individuals and communities.

We have started witnessing the benefits of Devolution. Across the length and breadth of our Nation, there is hardly any community in which some development activity is not taking place. Roads are being built; dams are being constructed and, lately, signature projects for rural industrialisation and development are being rolled out.

Fellow countrymen and women, we are well on the road to putting content to the Unity Accord whose interpretation must now go beyond conflict resolution, to encompass peace-building through even development.

The Unity Accord of 1987, today stands out as an Accord enabling spatially balanced, inclusive, community-driven development.

It is never an Accord or concept frozen in time or history. Rather, it is a dynamic that interacts with time and circumstances as our Nation evolves along its chosen trajectory.

Even though the signatories to the Unity Accord were two Sister Liberation movements, the threat and menace which that Accord cured and resolved was a national one.

Equally, the benefits accruing from it remain national in character. Those two considerations alone, make the Unity Accord larger than the two signatories, catapulting it into the coveted status of a National Gain, Resource and Heritage.

This, in effect, means the Unity Accord is our asset together as Zimbabweans. There should never be barriers of politics, colour, creed, language, region or tribe standing between us and its collective ownership.

Illustratively, all political formations in the country confirm it, one way or the other, through their structures and leadership choices.

That makes the Unity Accord a common possession, indeed a timeless guiding ethos. Our Nation stands by it or perishes for want of it.

As we celebrate this milestone Unity Accord, I want to remind us all that we still face the threat of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We must act responsibly, always bearing in mind we are each other’s keepers. Only when we all heed those precautions – getting vaccinated; masking up; observing social distance; adhering to hygienic standards and getting tested regularly, and treated when affected – do we then ensure our collective safety as a Nation. This is especially important as we break for the festive period.

As I conclude, I once again pay tribute to the two great men and two Liberation Movements which gave us peace and national unity.

We all must validate these historic efforts by working for the same, indeed working to ensure National Unity is forever at the core of our National Ethos.

On behalf of you all, and of our entire Nation, I want to pay tribute to our two visionary leaders, and to all those they worked with in forging and making this glorious day.

Indeed so much work went into making this elusive development a reality. So many meetings; countless false starts; seemingly insurmountable points of differences, yet all getting resolved in the end, against the firm resolve to work for, and win the peace and national unity for our Nation. We are truly grateful to these two great men.

The two Liberation Movements, ZANU and PF-ZAPU, rose to the challenge of reuniting the very Nation they had wrestled from settler colonialism and were poised to jointly rebuild from the ashes of a bloody, protracted armed struggle. But the grave cycle of internal conflict has characterised post-Liberation Africa.

I wish you a pleasant Christmas break and a happy and promising New Year ahead. Above all, I urge you to enjoy yourselves responsibly; and to exercise due care as you drive to and from your rural homes and holidays.

Happy Unity Day, Dear Zimbabweans!

God Bless our Nation

Mnangagwa Fingered In ZIFA, Sports Commission Dispute

Tinashe Sambiri|Zimbabwe Centre for Equal Opportunities president Paddington Japajapa has threatened to mobilize football fans to protest at the Sports and Recreation Commission’s decision to suspend the ZIFA board.

Japajapa, a veteran football administrator and former Caps United public relations manager, blasted the Sports and Recreation Commission for bringing the game of football into disrepute.

Below is part of Japajapa’s argument on the feud between ZIFA and the Sports Commission…

Whilst Mhlotswa who has got no experience at all in dealing with Soccer administrative issues, a former Chairman of Polo Association of Zimbabwe is better Placed in dealing with horse riding issues than soccer, we demand that he must stop messing up with the world,s most Beautiful Game, as enaunciated by Brazilian Soccer legend Adson Arantes Donacimento, better known as Pele.

The clueless and direction less Gerald Mlotswa SRC Board wants to be seen to be doing something, after years of failing to achieve anything meaningful for Sports in the Country.

All previous SRC Boards in Zimbabwe have got well documented historical evidence of failure in terms of Sports Administration, in the country, ever since attainment of Independence from 1980, up to date. Instead of SRC disbanding the ZIFA Board actually the Government must disband the SRC Board itself, for doing nothing in terms of Sports Development.

For the Mhlotswa Administration to vent its anger at an innocent ZIFA Board, that has been working very hard under very difficult Circumstances, created by the harsh economic environment that has been brought about by the ever misfiring and corrupt Zanu PF Regime, lead by President Mnangagwa, is so surprising and a shame.

Surely what else does this helpless and clueless SRC Board expect from the Felton Kamambo Zifa Board, after they managed to qualify for the January 2022, Africa Nations Cup finals in Cameroun.SRC cannot accuse Kamambo,s Board for failing to qualify for the world Cup finals, in Quatar in 2024, because ever since Independence in 1980, no Zimbabwean National Soccer team has ever qualified for the World Cup Finals.

Perfomance of all previous Zifa Boards that have ever held ZIFA office since 1980, is judged by Qualification of the National Soccer teams for AFCON after every two years.

The spurious accusations that have been levelled against Kamambo,s Zifa Board do not constitute commission of serious offence, that warrants disbandment.

The SRC Board falsely accused the Zifa of financial misappropriation,an accusation that has been rebutted by the Magistrate Courts and Police Investigations.

kamambo and his Board Members were recently exonerated by the courts after a full trial, if there was any true misappropriation of funds, then the Courts were suppose to find them guilty and convict them to jail sentence.Mhlostwa and his rag tag SRC gang also tried to mislead the Nation by falsely accusing the ZIFA Board Members of Sexual harassment of female referees, why is there not even one single Report with ZRP, by the alleged victims of the said sexual harassment, sexual harassment qualifies for criminal prosecution under the Criminal Law Code and reform Act, which means its all cooked up stories, in an attempt to tarnish the good images of the current ZIFA Board Members.

As Zimbabweans we cannot allow our Beautiful game of Soccer to be destroyed by a bunch of misguided SRC Board, who are using there political connections to ban innocent ZIFA Board Members. As ZCEO we are demanding for the immediate revocation of the SRC banishment order imposed on the Felton Kamambo ZIFA Board, and immediate reinstatement of the Board to their previous Status Quo.

We cannot allow ourselves to be abused and taken advantage of by Gerald Mhlotswa’s Political connections with the first family.

Failure to lift the illegal and unlawful ban of the ZIFA Board by the clueless bunch at SRC, means we shall be left with no option.

As Zimbabweans who want to see our National Soccer team participating at AFCON Finals in January 2022, we shall apply for Permission under (MOPA) Maintenance of Public Order Act, to the Officer Commanding Harare Police District, for permission to demonstrate against those SRC Board Members, so that they can resign and leave office with immediate effect. Millions of Soccer loving Zimbabweans cannot be prejudiced of their constitutional right to watch their beloved National Soccer team playing at AFCON Finals in January 2022.

Most of theose SRC Board Members have never played soccer since childhood, hence they understand little about Soccer Administration.

Understanding Omicron Variant

On 26 November 2021, WHO designated the variant B.1.1.529 a variant of concern (VOC), on the basis of advice from WHO’s Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution.

The variant has been given the name Omicron. Omicron variant is a highly divergent variant with a high number of mutations, including 26-32 in the spike protein, some of which are concerning and may be associated with humoral immune escape potential and higher transmissibility

As of 16 December 2021, the Omicron variant has been identified in 89 countries across all six WHO regions.

Current understanding of the Omicron variant will continue to evolve as more data becomes available.

The overall threat posed by Omicron largely depends on four key questions, including: (1) how transmissible the variant is; (2) how well vaccines and prior infection protect against infection, transmission, clinical disease and death; (3) how virulent the variant is compared to other variants; and (4) how populations understand these dynamics, perceive risk and follow control measures, including public health and social measures.

Public health advice is based on current information and will be tailored as more evidence emerges around those key questions.

There is consistent evidence that Omicron has a substantial growth advantage over Delta.

It is spreading significantly faster than the Delta variant in countries with documented community transmission, with a doubling time between 1.5–3 days. Omicron is spreading rapidly in countries with high levels of population immunity and it remains uncertain to what extent the observed rapid growth rate can be attributed to immune evasion, intrinsic increased transmissibility or a combination of both. However, given current available data, it is likely that Omicron will outpace Delta where community transmission occurs.

There are still limited data on the clinical severity of Omicron. More data are needed to understand the severity profile and how severity is impacted by vaccination and pre-existing immunity.

Hospitalizations in the UK and South Africa continue to rise, and given rapidly increasing case counts, it is possible that many healthcare systems may become quickly overwhelmed.

Preliminary data suggest that there is a reduction in neutralizing titres against Omicron in those who have received a primary vaccination series or in those who have had prior SARS-CoV-2 infection , which may suggest a level of humoral immune evasion.

There are still limited available data, and no peer-reviewed evidence, on vaccine efficacy or effectiveness to date for Omicron.

Preliminary findings of vaccine effectiveness studies (test-negative design) were obtained from South Africa and England, the United Kingdom. Available preliminary data to be interpreted with caution as the designs may be subject to selection bias and the results are based on relatively small numbers.

Results from England indicate a significant reduction in vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic disease for Omicron compared to Delta after two vaccine doses of either Pfizer BioNTech-Comirnaty or AstraZeneca-Vaxzevria vaccines. There was, however, higher effectiveness two weeks after a Pfizer BioNTech-Comirnaty booster, which was slightly lower or comparable to that against Delta. A non peer-reviewed study by South Africa researchers using private health insurance data reported reductions in vaccine effectiveness of the Pfizer BioNTech-Comirnaty vaccine against infection, and to a lesser degree against hospitalization. Details about the methods or results were not available at the time of writing.

The diagnostic accuracy of routinely used PCR and antigen-based rapid diagnostic test (Ag-RDT) assays does not appear to be impacted by Omicron. Most Omicron variant sequences reported include a deletion in the S gene, which can cause an S gene target failure (SGTF) in some PCR assays. Though a minority of publicly-shared sequences lack this deletion, SGTF can be used as a proxy marker to screen for Omicron. However, confirmation should be obtained by sequencing, as this deletion can also be found in other VOCs (e.g. Alpha and subsets of Gamma and Delta) circulating at low frequencies globally.

Therapeutic interventions for the management of patients with severe or critical COVID-19 associated with the Omicron variant that target host responses (such as corticosteroids, and interleukin 6 receptor blockers) are expected to remain effective.

However, preliminary data from preprint publications suggest that some of the monoclonal antibodies developed against SARS-CoV-2 may have decreased neutralization against Omicron. Monoclonal antibodies will need to be tested individually for their antigen binding and virus neutralization, and these studies should be prioritized
