Warriors Kit Among The Best

The Warriors jersey at the 2021 Afcon has been ranked by BBC Sports as one of the best kits in the tournament’s history.

The national team premiered the Umbro jersey during the qualifiers, and it had a unique design resembling the Zimbabwe flag.

Despite failing to progress beyond the group stage at the tournament, the Warriors left a lasting impression with their kit.

In their build up to the 2023 Afcon in Ivory Coast in January, BBC Sport put a list of best shirts with input from Josh Warwick, the co-founder of the Cult Kits website.

Warwick described the Warriors kit, saying: “This is definitely one of the best Afcon shirts of recent tournaments.

“The thick brushes of red, black, green and yellow are an entirely welcome assault on the eyes. Gorgeous.”

Other kits on the list include South Africa’s 1996 jersey, Zambia’ 2013 shirt and Angola’s 2010 jersey.

Cameroon’s iconic sleeveless shirt at the 2002 tournament also made it to the list of best ever Afcon kits.

The party claims that it embraced citizen-driven leadership, empowering local voices. It also claims that it achieved victories in local councils and demonstrated resilience despite challenges. The party expressed gratitude to the diaspora community and received global acknowledgement of injustice. They aim to address Zimbabwe’s legitimacy crisis in 2024 as they continue their journey towards a “New Great Zimbabwe”, fueled by hope and reflecting the dreams of its people. We present the statement below:

Celebrating 2023: A Journey of Defiance, Unity, and Hope

1) President Nelson Chamisa’s Remarkable Journey: From road to road, village to village, and corner to corner, President @nelsonchamisa’s journey spanned over 10,000km, stirring the spirits of the people with his unwavering resolve. Through more than 100 meetings and rallies, his tireless efforts galvanized a movement that defied odds and stood undeterred in the face of adversity.

2) People-Powered Movement: United in purpose, change champions across the nation amplified the call for a New Great Zimbabwe, igniting a groundswell of support that transcended boundaries and embraced the collective dreams of the masses. This groundswell reshaped the narrative, advocating for a Zimbabwe that uplifts all, not just a select few.

3) Citizen-Centric Leadership: Embracing an inclusive approach, a new era of citizen-driven candidate selection took root, empowering the voices of the local people. Together, we ushered in a wave of young, fresh, citizen-focused leaders, standing tall against the regime’s entrenched elite.

4) People’s Triumph: Overcoming formidable hurdles, we clinched the majority of local councils, emerging victorious in an astounding 33 out of 34 urban local authorities. Moreover, the citizenry’s unwavering strength signaled an indomitable force, especially demonstrated by standing and waiting in queues to cast votes for change—a testament to the people’s ownership of this movement.

5) Resilience Against Adversity: Despite daunting challenges, our resolute spirit thwarted attempts to secure a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly. Triumphs in remote areas like Zvimba East and Seke stood as beacons of hope in our crusade for an equitable Zimbabwe.

6) Unveiling Truth: The integrity of our election coalition, bolstered by collaborative efforts, exposed the facade of counterfeit results and uncovered the true voice of the people. The failure to disclose authentic results, depicting President Chamisa’s lead, laid bare the deceit.

We understand your desire to return home, and we strive to create changed circumstances around human rights, economic development, and equal opportunities for all.

10) Together, in 2023, we etched the mark of defiance, unity, and triumph. Our odyssey to a luminous destiny continues. Let us fuel the flames of hope, relentlessly striving toward a New Great Zimbabwe led by President @nelsonchamisa

that authentically reflects the dreams of its people.

Mnangagwa’s Lawyer Gives Tshabangu Free Anti-Chamisa Services

By James Gwati- Prominent Harare lawyer Lewis Uriri had CCC activist Sengezo Tshabangu free legal services when the party approached the courts to challenge his authority to recall its Members of Parliament and Councillors.

Uriri was President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s lawyer at the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) against a petition filed by then MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa, who was seeking to overturn the ZANU PF leader’s victory in the 30 July 2018 election.

Speaking during the Asakhe Online program, The Breakfast Club recently, Tshabangu, who claims to be CCC’s interim secretary-general, said Uriri understood his financial predicament and agreed to offer his initial legal services free of charge.

Tshabangu said once Uriri got “the ball rolling”, some members of the business community then started to pour cash towards his legal costs. CITE quoted Tshabangu as saying:

It is difficult for us to meet our litigation costs. Our legal team is headed by Advocate Uriri, one of the best lawyers to ever come out of Zimbabwe. He is very expensive.

We sat down with him and he said he understood where I was coming from. He said he would get the ball rolling so that the people in general would know what was going on and understand my cause. He did the first appearance free of charge.

After that, we started having people coming in to help us meet our legal costs. Some are from the business communities, people with huge amounts of money.

They understood our cause and they gave us money to channel to our legal needs. We are accounting for each cent of that money.

Tshabangu was initially a member of the MDC and was part of the group that split from the MDC led by Morgan Tsvangirai in 2014 to form the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which was led by Tendai Biti, with Kucaca Phulu as the deputy.

Later, he rejoined the mainstream MDC Alliance when the alliance was formed ahead of the 2018 harmonised elections.

Tshabangu attended meetings where the MDC Alliance rebranded itself as CCC.

In October 2023, Tshabangu recalled 15 parliamentarians and 17 councillors, including the mayor of Masvingo, and the chairperson of the Epworth Local Board citing that they were no longer party members.

Subsequently, he recalled more CCC MPs and Councillors countrywide on the pretext they had ceased being members of the party.

Why Is Hopewell Chin’ono Insulting Auditors Simply Asking Name Of His UK Financier of The Unreaceable Loan?

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has lashed out at journalists amidst escalating controversy over the origins of his wealth. Chin’ono, who initially claimed a £50,000 credit for a sports car in 1996 as the springboard for his property empire, has now shifted his narrative, leading to intense public and media scrutiny.

In a recent Facebook post, Chin’ono vehemently defended his success, stating that journalists asking questions over his untraceable figures, are jealous of him.

One of the scribes is his own former employer, Geoff Nyarota he has failed to supply the most basic answers since a 2021 interview published by Newsday.

Said Chin’ono in part: “But sadly, some rotten apples in my profession are so envious and bitter such that they create stories to justify why I made it, and why they didn’t.” This statement is a direct response to the growing doubts about his earlier account of receiving a £50,000 credit from an undisclosed UK institution or company in 1996, a detail crucial to understanding his rise in property ownership.

This credit, as per Chin’ono’s earlier statements, was pivotal in redirecting his focus from luxury to investment, influenced by advice from his mentor, Dr. Tendai Maboreke. However, Chin’ono’s recent assertion that his wealth actually stemmed from a mobile phone business a decade later starkly contradicts this narrative. The lack of transparency regarding the UK lender and the sudden shift in the story of his financial ascent has cast a shadow over his claims.

Chin’ono’s aggressive approach towards journalists and critics questioning the inconsistencies in his story raises further doubts. His characterization of these inquiries as driven by envy and bitterness, rather than addressing the substantive issues at hand, diverts attention from the need for clarity and factual accuracy.

The situation is further complicated by allegations of credit and cheque fraud, along with claims of misconduct dating back to his high school days. These unresolved issues, coupled with the recent contradictions in his wealth narrative, demand a deeper investigation into the true origins of Chin’ono’s assets and his professional conduct.

As the controversy continues to unfold, the public remains in search of concrete answers. The central question persists: What is the true source of Hopewell Chin’ono’s wealth, and how does it reconcile with his varying accounts over the last 29 years? His recent remarks on social media, while dismissive of his critics, have only amplified the calls for transparency and a thorough exploration of his financial history. READ THE FULL STORY HERE

Top 5 Bus Killers In 2023… Inter Africa, CAG Tops The List

2023 has etched itself into Zimbabwe’s memory as a year of profound grief for countless families across the nation.

Tragic bus accidents took lives and limbs, leaving trails of sorrow and shattered dreams on the country’s highways.

Against this backdrop, ZimEye delves into the top five bus companies responsible for the most fatalities and injuries this year.

1. Inter Africa/Mukumba Brothers: Dominating the grim statistic is Inter Africa/Mukumba Brothers. Speeding, driver fatigue, and questionable vehicle maintenance emerged as recurring themes in reports associated with their accidents.

In *July, a Mukumba Brothers bus collided with a haulage truck near Chegutu, claiming 12 lives and injuring 27. Just *two months later, another horrific crash involving one of their buses near Kwekwe took 10 lives and left 35 passengers wounded. These incidents, alongside several others throughout the year, solidified Inter Africa/Mukumba Brothers’ place at the forefront of this year’s bus tragedy.

2. CAG: Close behind comes CAG, whose buses were implicated in several devastating accidents throughout 2023.

In *February, a CAG bus overturned near Kadoma, leaving 8 passengers dead and 20 injured. The cause of the accident was attributed to a burst tire, raising concerns about the company’s vehicle maintenance practices. A month later, *another CAG bus collided with a haulage truck near Gweru, resulting in 7 fatalities and 15 injuries. These and other incidents solidified CAG’s position among the top contributors to Zimbabwe’s road carnage in 2023.

3. Rimbi Tours: Following closely behind is Rimbi Tours, whose buses were involved in several fatal accidents this year.

In *April, a Rimbi Tours bus crashed near Mutare, killing 6 passengers and injuring 18. Reports suggested the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. *June saw another Rimbi Tours bus overturned near Masvingo, leaving 5 passengers dead and 12 injured.

These incidents, along with others, underscore the need for stricter safety measures and driver oversight within the company.

Together with Zebra Kiss, Rimbi Tours had its operating license suspended after their drivers recklessly caused a fatal accident while racing with passengers on board.

4. Zebra Kiss: Known for its sleek buses and flashy branding, Zebra Kiss also faces scrutiny after a series of accidents marred its 2023.

In *May, a Zebra Kiss bus collided with a commuter omnibus near Harare, leading to four fatalities and 10 injuries. *August saw another Zebra Kiss bus overturned on the Beitbridge-Bulawayo highway, resulting in three deaths and eight injuries.

These accidents, while seemingly less frequent than those of top contenders, raise concerns about safety practices within the company’s operations.

5. Stallion Cruise: Rounding out the list is Stallion Cruise, whose buses were involved in several accidents over the past year.

In *March, a Stallion Cruise bus collided with a private vehicle near Chinhoyi, taking 3 lives and injuring 9. *October saw another Stallion Cruise bus crash near Bulawayo, leaving 2 passengers dead and 5 injured. While the numbers involved may appear lower than other entries, these incidents highlight the need for improved safety standards within the company’s fleet.

****Trip Trans***

Though out of the top five, Trip Trans deserves mention as it also recorded a fair share of accidents including the one that claimed the life of late socialite Genius Kadungure’s sister Julie who was travelling from Malawi. In that accident nine other people lost lives. Five days earlier, another Trip Trans bus was engulfed in flames shortly after Makuti, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Earlier in February, another Trip Trans bus travelling from Chimanimani to Mutare was involved in an accident that claimed the life of an infant while 16 others were injured.

A Call for Change:

2023’s grim statistics paint a disturbing picture of Zimbabwe’s bus industry. It’s not just about these five companies; the entire industry needs a drastic overhaul. Stringent safety regulations, rigorous driver training, and regular vehicle inspections are crucial steps towards preventing further tragedies.

As we mourn the lives lost and grapple with the lasting scars of these accidents, let 2023 be a stark reminder. We must demand better, implement change, and ensure that our roads become arteries of life, not channels of sorrow.

Mafume Inspires His Bulawayo Counterpart David Coltart

By A Correspondent| In a notable display of cross-city inspiration, newly elected Mayor of the City of Harare, Councilor Jacob Mafume, has already left an indelible mark on his Bulawayo counterpart, Mayor David Coltart.

The impact was revealed when Coltart openly acknowledged drawing inspiration from Mafume’s recently shared end-of-year report.

The City of Harare’s official Twitter account shared a snapshot of Mafume presenting the city’s comprehensive end-of-year report.

Responding to the post, Mayor Coltart expressed his admiration, stating, “Well done. This will inspire me to do likewise next year.”

The exchange between the two mayors underscores the collaborative spirit emerging among Zimbabwe’s municipal leaders.

Coltart, who has energetically commenced his responsibilities as the Mayor of the City of Bulawayo, seems poised to replicate the transparency and diligence demonstrated by Mayor Mafume in the coming year.

This cross-pollination of ideas and practices between the mayors reflects a positive trend in Zimbabwean local governance, as leaders from different cities find inspiration in each other’s initiatives.

It remains to be seen how this exchange of ideas will contribute to the continued development and improvement of municipal governance in both Harare and Bulawayo.

Man Killed Over Snooker Argument

In a tragic incident on Christmas Day, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed at a local nightclub following a dispute over a missing token during a game of snooker.

Police have now apprehended the suspect responsible for the shooting, identified as Takeknowledge Mthombeni, aged 39. Additionally, the police have successfully recovered the firearm used in the crime.

The arrest follows a recent statement by the police, announcing their investigation into the murder of Wilson Malunga, who was fatally shot by an unknown assailant in Filabusi around 1:30 am.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect and the victim were engaged in a heated argument at the nightclub after the victim realized his token was missing. Allegedly, Mthombeni left the premises and returned with a pistol from his parked Toyota Fun Cargo vehicle. Without warning, he fired a single shot at Malunga’s head before hastily fleeing the scene.

The operation was carried out on Sunday evening, according to Mpumalanga provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

“It is said that the said car was coming from R25 Road in Bronkhorstspruit, and it was fitted with Gauteng registration number plates,” said Mohlala.

Bleak Literary Landscape For Zimbabwe As Weaver Press Shuts Down

Harare, Zimbabwe – In 2006, a small but supportive publisher helped Zimbabwean author Valerie Tagwira make the transition from doctor to published author, picking up her first novel, The Uncertainty of Hope.

Then based in the United Kingdom, Tagwira had sent out her manuscript to UK and Australian publishers and received 13 rejections. Two years after it was published by Weaver Press, it won one of Zimbabwe’s National Arts Merit Awards, the country’s highest recognition in arts and culture.

Today, she remains grateful to that publisher, Weaver Press.

“When nobody else would, Weaver Press gave a voice to the stories that I felt compelled to tell as a novice writer,” Tagwira told Al Jazeera, paying tribute to Irene Staunton, the publishing house’s publisher and editor. “Irene’s patience and expertise as an editor inspired me and brought to fruition my long-held dream of becoming a published writer.”

But now, after a quarter of a century of operation, the Harare-based independent publisher will close its doors at the end of this year, signalling a bleaker literary landscape for the southern African nation.

Weaver Press is based in Emerald Hill in northern Harare, a previously whites-only suburb in the colonial era, hardly an obvious setting for the country’s most vibrant and diverse publishing house.

But since 1998 when it was co-founded by Staunton and her husband Murray McCartney who has served as its director, it has hoisted the voices of up to 80 fiction and over 100 nonfiction writers from Zimbabwe. The house has had interns over the years and, for a short while, a fully-fledged employee, but has been mostly run by the duo.

On December 7, a 25th-anniversary gathering brought together some of its authors and the country’s literary luminaries – authors Shimmer Chinodya, Petina Gappah, and Chiedza Musengezi; the poet and retired university lecturer Musaemura Zimunya; former education minister and memoirist Fay Chung; and retired priest and writer David Harold-Barry.

The birthday bash was also a funeral even if that was left unsaid at the gathering.

“Weaver Press will go dormant at the end of the year,” Staunton said in an interview at their home-cum-office, using a euphemism for the imminent shutdown.

Of the anomaly of a death notice at a birthday party, her husband added: “It seems a little strange but it’s true. Much has changed over the years. We aren’t able to survive just from book sales…we get more revenue from freelance editing work. And that doesn’t need to be Weaver Press.”

When the husband-and-wife team founded Weaver Press, the country was about to go into a sociopolitical, and economic, meltdown triggered in part by former ruler Robert Mugabe’s decision to seize white-owned farms.

A hyperinflationary environment ensued, making it impossible for most businesses, let alone a publishing house, to survive. They made do by working on a project-by-project basis. “For the first few years we were more like an NGO than a publisher in that we tried to find funding for projects to get us off the ground because we ourselves didn’t have any capital except our time,” explained Staunton, whose own publishing career goes back some four decades.

Staunton, perhaps Zimbabwe’s foremost editor, was editor and co-founder of Baobab Books, the now-defunct publisher of prizewinning works by the late novelists Yvonne Vera and Chenjerai Hove, and the posthumous works of legendary writer Dambudzo Marechera.

“In the last twenty years,” said Staunton, “the publishing scene has changed dramatically. Nowadays a great many people are self-publishing, and our best writers are being published outside the country for obvious reasons. They get much better advances, royalties, promotion, [and] they achieve an international reputation. If I was them, I would just do the same.”

In the last decade, a new crop of Zimbabwean writers has emerged, more popular abroad than at home. Among that cohort is Noviolet Bulawayo whose two novels Glory and We Need New Names, were both shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Weaver Press first published Bulawayo’s Caine Prize-winning story that morphed into We Need New Names.

The publishing and reading culture of the 1980s, which partly helped Zimbabwe earn the bragging rights to being one of Africa’s most educated nations, has long since ended: Most schools don’t have libraries, less and less students are taking literature as a subject in schools, while government subsidies that made it possible for most schools to buy textbooks and novels have long vanished. Added to that, illegal photocopying of books has hit pandemic proportions in the country, making it impossible to have a viable publishing industry.

Staunton recalled that when she was at Baobab Books, in the 1990s, if one of their titles was a set book on the school curriculum, they could sell as many as 250,000 books. By way of comparison, when Weaver Press author Shimmer Chinodya’s novel Tale of Tamari was once on the school syllabus between 2018 and 2022, it took them four years to sell just 2000 copies.

Yet it’s not only the challenging political climate and economic situation – whose nadir was inflation rates of 80 billion percent – made it impossible for them to continue. And that is a point McCartney conceded: “Weaver Press has never been particularly good at marketing and publicity. I will concede that. That’s not our strength.”

It was a point echoed by South Africa-based Zimbabwean writer Farai Mudzingwa, whose short fiction was first published by Weaver Press in 2014 and who told Al Jazeera that he remains grateful for the part the publishing house has played in his writing career.

“Weaver Press appeared resolute on moribund local print publishing within Zimbabwe, with no financial incentive for the writers, but my focus was set on international sales, beyond Zimbabwe and the continent, and with an eye on foreign language translation, film, audio and other extended rights and formats,” he said.

Mudzingwa’s debut novel Avenues by Train has just come out through the Nigerian publisher Bibi Bakare-Yusuf’s company, Cassava Republic Press.

Whatever the publishing couple’s faults, Weaver Press’s exemplary role in shaping Zimbabwe’s 21st-century publishing landscape has been undeniable.

Some of their notable publications include teacher-politician Fay Chung’s important war memoir Re-Living the Second Chimurenga, the late war veteran Dzinashe Machingura’s authoritative autobiography Memories of a Freedom Fighter and numerous short story collections.

Yvonne Vera’s novel, The Stone Virgins, won the 2002 Macmillan Writers’ Prize for Africa. Brian Chikwava’s short story, Seventh Street Alchemy, winner of the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2004, first came out in a Weaver short story collection. Two of the stories in Petina Gappah’s 2009 Guardian First Book Award-winning collection, An Elegy for Easterly, were also first published in Weaver short story anthologies.

Meanwhile, Tagwira has since relocated to neighbouring Namibia, where she works as an obstetrician-gynecologist.

With Weaver Press now dormant, chances are that the next novel by Tagwira who published two under them, will be published in South Africa. It is a win for that country and will probably bring financial reward to Tagwira, but is surely a loss for Zimbabwe’s publishing culture.

Urgent Evacuation Advisory as Harare Faces Unprecedented Flood Threat

The City of Harare has issued an emergency evacuation notice to residents residing in low-lying areas, urging them to abandon their homes immediately to escape the imminent danger of being swept away by torrential rains. This urgent directive comes in the wake of relentless downpours that have pounded the city and various regions across the country, ending a prolonged dry spell.

Harare, grappling with a poor drainage system, has seen the situation exacerbated, rendering several roads impassable and allowing water to infiltrate homes, wreaking havoc on electrical gadgets. The gravity of the situation prompted Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume to make a direct plea to residents in vulnerable areas such as Budiriro Paddocks and Kuwadzana Paddocks, emphasizing the urgency of the evacuation as massive floods are predicted.

Tragically, last week witnessed the loss of two lives in Highfield and Budiriro. In a heartbreaking incident, a six-year-old boy was swept away by floods in Budiriro, with his lifeless body discovered five kilometers away just days ago. The City of Harare, in its statement, underscores the perilous nature of the current weather conditions.

As of the latest reports, there are no additional casualties, but the situation remains critical. Harare’s main routes, including those to Bulawayo and Beitbridge, have become treacherous, with persistent heavy rains washing away several detours. Stranded vehicles, including heavy trucks, paint a bleak picture of the challenges faced by those navigating the perilous road conditions.

A chilling account comes from a trucker en route to South Africa, describing the detours on the incomplete sections of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway as increasingly hazardous. Drivers face the dual threat of reduced speed leaving them vulnerable to theft and the looming danger of accidents due to the deteriorating road conditions.

Last week’s rains wreaked havoc, causing widespread devastation and leaving nearly 15 houses in Budiriro 4 submerged. The police reported numerous individuals marooned by floodwaters, subsequently rescued by the ZRP Sub-Aqua Unit.

The Meteorological Services Department’s recent warning of continued heavy rains accompanied by violent storms until Sunday heightens the urgency of the evacuation. This crisis follows a grim incident in October, where four children from a single family perished after their hut in Wadzenenga village, under Chief Nyashanu in Buhera, Manicaland province, was struck by lightning.

‘Rotten Apples Envious Of My Wealth!’ Hopewell Chin’ono Insults Journalists Inquiring Over His Untraceable Money

Former MDC Alliance Youth Leader Blocked ?

Former MDC Alliance youth leader Obey Tererai Sithole was left infuriated after being blocked from following the Citizens Coalition for Change.

Sithole has crossed path with pro-Chamisa CCC members after exonerating the now Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume who was being accused of working with Zanu PF and Tshabangu.

Mafume was elected Harare Mayor despite CCC preferring one Elvis Ruzani who polled 15 votes to the winner’s 22.

Posting on X, Sithole had this to say:

CCC is currently going through a turbulent phase following a spate of recalls spearheaded by self-styled Interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu.

Tshabangu has recalled CCC legislators and councillors in a move that has benefitted Zanu PF which gained the much needed two thirds majority.

Gokwe’s Sasami Bridge Ripped Apart By Small Flood

By A Correspondent | In an unexpected turn of events, the Sasami Bridge, a critical connector on the route from Nemangwe to Nembudzia, has been ripped apart by a small yet powerful flood. This catastrophic incident has rendered the entire bridge worthless, causing significant disruptions and shockwaves across the region.

Early reports indicate that the bridge, which has been a longstanding route for locals and a vital link for transportation, could not withstand the sudden surge of water brought on by the flood. Eyewitnesses describe a dramatic scene where the central part of the bridge was violently torn away, leaving a gaping void in what was once a reliable passage.

Sasami Bridge collapse

Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the factors that led to this failure. Preliminary findings suggest that the bridge, though seemingly robust, was vulnerable to the specific hydraulic pressures exerted by the flood. There is growing concern about the potential for similar occurrences in other infrastructures if they are not designed or maintained with such natural calamities in mind.

The collapse of the Sasami Bridge has had immediate repercussions, with traffic being rerouted and local communities facing significant travel challenges. Emergency response teams have been deployed to ensure public safety and to start the process of reconstruction planning.

This event serves as a stark reminder of the power of nature and the need for resilient infrastructure, especially in regions prone to flooding. The loss of the Sasami Bridge is not just a physical one; it symbolizes the disruption of daily life and connectivity for many. As recovery efforts begin, there is a strong call for a renewed focus on building and maintaining bridges that can withstand the challenges posed by changing environmental conditions.

Bridge Construction

When a bridge is washed away or severely damaged by a small stream of water, it often comes as a surprise. However, several factors can contribute to this phenomenon, underscoring the importance of understanding the principles of robust bridge construction, especially in flood-prone areas.

### Factors Leading to Bridge Failure:

1. **Hydraulic Pressure:** Water flow exerts significant pressure on bridge structures. Even a small stream can become forceful during heavy rain, exerting pressure that exceeds the bridge’s design limits.

2. **Scouring:** This is the process where fast-moving water removes sediment from around bridge abutments or foundations, undermining the structural integrity. Scour can happen gradually or suddenly during intense flooding.

3. **Debris Accumulation:** Floating debris during floods can accumulate against the bridge, increasing the load and obstructing water flow, thereby enhancing pressure on the structure.

4. **Material and Design Flaws:** Bridges not designed for flood conditions or those made with substandard materials are more susceptible to damage.

5. **Lack of Maintenance:** Regular maintenance is crucial. Neglect can lead to weakened structures, making them vulnerable during floods.

### Principles for Constructing Strong Bridges:

1. **Hydrological Analysis:** Understanding the water flow, potential for flooding, and historical data of the area helps in designing a bridge that can withstand extreme conditions.

2. **Robust Design:** Using flood-resistant materials and designs. For instance, arches and suspension bridges offer better resistance than flat bridges.

3. **Elevated Construction:** Building the bridge high enough above the highest recorded water level to prevent overtopping during floods.

4. **Scour Countermeasures:** Designing foundations deep enough to resist scouring, or using protective materials like rock riprap around abutments and piers.

5. **Flexible, Yet Sturdy Construction:** The bridge should be flexible enough to absorb and dissipate energy without breaking, but sturdy enough to resist the forces exerted by water and debris.

6. **Debris Flow Consideration:** Designing the bridge to allow easy passage of debris during floods, reducing the risk of blockages.

7. **Regular Inspections and Maintenance:** To identify and repair any wear and tear or weaknesses before they become serious.

By adhering to these principles, engineers can design bridges that are more resilient in the face of flooding, ensuring the safety and reliability of these vital structures.

Mnangagwa Honours Nikita Mangena 40 Years After Killing Own Relatives

In a profound acknowledgment of history, Zimbabwe’s Acting President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has announced the government’s commitment to honor the late ZIPRA hero, General Alfred Rodgers Nikita Mangena. This announcement comes 45 years after Gen. Mangena’s death and amid the somber reflections on the Gukurahundi period during which approximately 30,000 of his supporters were reportedly killed by the Fifth Brigade.

General Mangena, a pivotal figure in Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence, tragically lost his life in 1978 to a landmine explosion. His death was a significant blow to the liberation movement, particularly in the context of the intertwined histories of ZIPRA and ZANLA forces, both instrumental in the fight against colonial rule.

The commitment to honor Gen. Mangena echoes the ongoing efforts to preserve the legacy of another national hero, General Josiah Magama Tongogara, who died a year after Mangena in 1979. Both generals led their respective armies with valor and determination, contributing immensely to Zimbabwe’s eventual independence in 1980.

Acting President Chiwenga, in a recent interview following the commemoration of General Tongogara’s life, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the contributions of both generals are not merely relegated to historical footnotes. The government’s plans include a more substantial commemoration of General Mangena’s role in the nation’s history, beyond the naming of the Zimbabwe National Defence University in his honor.

“There is a need to conscientize the younger generation about our revolutionary past,” said Acting President Chiwenga. “We cannot let the towering figures of our liberation, like General Mangena, be forgotten. Their sacrifices and leadership were instrumental in our fight against colonial subjugation.”

The announcement is also seen as a move to reconcile the painful memories of the Gukurahundi period, a time of intense conflict and suffering. By honoring Gen. Mangena, the government acknowledges the complexities of Zimbabwe’s history and the need to remember all who contributed to its independence.

General Mangena, who joined the liberation struggle in the 1960s and received military training in Algeria in 1963, was a key proponent of unity between the ZANLA and ZIPRA forces. His leadership and vision continued to influence the struggle even after his death, with his deputy, General Lookout Masuku, taking over the leadership of ZIPRA forces.

As Zimbabwe reflects on its past and looks to the future, the honoring of General Mangena symbolizes a step towards acknowledging the multifaceted nature of its history and the importance of remembering all those who fought for the country’s freedom.- state media

Varakashi Celebrate Mnangagwa Seizure Of SADC Post

By A Correspondent

A Zanu PF Varakashi platform has announced that Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa will be the SADC chairperson with effect from January 1 2024.

Analysts are sceptical of Mr Mnangagwa’s appointment saying it will all but endorse the Zanu PF leader who stands accused of stealing the August 23 polls.

Zanu PF’s Team Varakashi boasted on Thursday :

“President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will be SADC chair starting 1 January, our President is ready to take up the post and take the regional bloc to another level.”

There are more questions than answers as observers wonder whether Mr Mnangagwa will then nail himself or he will take advantage of the said appointment to spruce up his battered political image.

There is no doubt that Varakashi are desperate to please their handlers by portraying Mr Mnangagwa as a political saint.

Is This Jah Prayzah Peeping Into A Woman’s Underwear On Stage?

By Showbiz Reporter | Is this Jah Prayzah peeping into a woman’s black underwear on stage? Even if not him, he has a whole motion music video released of more than one woman flashing underwear all over.

The singer has degenerated from his powerful Tsviriyo days, to serial nudity, in ways that have caused a stir in the community.

“Mukoma @jahprayzah, according to my humble opinion, i think you can always do better than this, why would you open someone’s pants in public ?

-what will your children think ?
-what about your wife ?
-Your relatives ?

You are a whole married man , Do better or i will block you,” wrote one Jethro on X, formerly Twitter.

the contentious picture, used to symbolise Jha Prayzah’s song video

Examining Jah Prayzah’s “Walletically” within the context of creating a culturally rich song production unveils a complex interplay of elements. The song’s opening lyrics, “If it was me the one with money, I would be a precious fruit, and be walletically,” sets the stage for a narrative centered around wealth. However, a closer analysis reveals potential pitfalls in aligning with the criteria of cultural richness.

1. Cultural Narrative:
While Jah Prayzah expresses aspirations tied to financial success, the lyrical content lacks depth in representing a broader cultural narrative. A culturally rich song often delves into traditions, values, or societal reflections, but “Walletically” primarily revolves around individual financial pursuits without broader cultural context.

2. Imagery and Visual Representation:
The divergence in the video’s portrayal of near-naked women raises questions about the alignment with Zimbabwean cultural norms. The juxtaposition of the song’s theme and the visual representation in the video introduces a discordant element that might be perceived as contradictory to cultural sensitivity.

3. Musical Fusion and Innovation:
Musically, Jah Prayzah has often excelled in fusing traditional and contemporary sounds. However, the focus on wealth in “Walletically” shifts attention away from the potential for a diverse musical fusion that incorporates a broader range of cultural elements.

4. Collaborations and Diversity:
The song’s lyrics do not indicate collaboration with artists offering diverse cultural perspectives. A more inclusive approach, bringing in voices from different cultural facets, could have added layers to the production, fostering a richer representation of Zimbabwe’s cultural diversity.

5. Social Commentary:
While the song touches on financial themes, it lacks a deeper exploration of societal or cultural issues. A culturally rich song often serves as a platform for commentary on social dynamics, but “Walletically” leans more towards individual desires rather than societal reflections.

In conclusion, Jah Prayzah’s “Walletically” falls short in certain aspects crucial to a culturally rich song production. The focus on personal wealth overshadows broader cultural narratives, and the visual representation in the video introduces elements that may be at odds with cultural norms. For a more comprehensive cultural richness, a song should aim for a harmonious blend of lyrical depth, musical diversity, inclusive collaborations, and a thoughtful exploration of societal and cultural nuances.

Harare Goes Under Water

Harare Struggles as Flash Flooding Reveals Critical Infrastructure Gaps**

In a dire situation that has tested Harare’s drainage system, flash flooding has left 59 households in Budiriro 5B Extension and Kuwadzana paddocks area uninhabitable. The Marimba River, swollen by ongoing rains, has wreaked havoc in the western half of Harare, exposing a critical vulnerability in the city’s ability to protect its residents.

One Budiriro house was extensively damaged, and numerous families have lost essential belongings, including food, utensils, blankets, furniture, and clothes due to the severe flooding. Roads leading in and out of Budiriro are submerged, compelling residents to navigate through water, prompting the evacuation of affected individuals to camps for safety.

This crisis follows the tragic death of a six-year-old girl swept away by the Marimba River just a week prior. The deteriorating situation has ignited frustration among residents, with Mr Pasipanodya Nyamayaro, a representative, blaming the Harare City Council for failing to address the recurring flooding issue.

Residents are now calling for the allocation of new, flood-resistant land to avoid yearly displacement. The City Council cites resource limitations as the reason for their inaction. Seeking solutions, residents have enlisted independent engineers, considering civil engineering projects to divert the river’s flow.

The flood crisis reflects a setback to the 1960s, exposing a regression in the country’s ability to handle natural disasters. The plea for government intervention and long-term solutions is urgent as the community grapples with the impact of continuous flooding.

Harare City Council’s response has been criticized, with appeals for funds to address the critical drainage and infrastructure needs falling on deaf ears. Residents are not only facing material losses but also the heartbreaking reality of losing lives annually.

In a statement, Mr Gabriel Masvora, Local Government and Public Works Ministry communications director, acknowledged the extensive damage caused by the flash floods. Evacuation centers have been set up, and relief efforts are underway, but the scale of the crisis demands a comprehensive, strategic approach.

As the affected households await assistance, the city’s residents are left questioning the city’s preparedness for such disasters and highlighting the erosion of civilization in the face of inadequate infrastructure. The call for urgent government intervention and allocation of resources is paramount to prevent further loss of lives and property.

Tshabangu’s Handler Exposed

Dear Editor

This is my opinion on the history of some of the people we think are fighting for democracy, yet the state plants them to destroy the opposition from within.

  1. In 2002, Welshman Ncube and Renson Gasela introduced Tsvangirai to Ari Ben-Menashe of Dickens and Madson, a relationship that resulted in Tsvangirai facing treason charges. State accused Morgan of discussing Mugabe assassination in a meeting. Welshman and Gasela were acquitted early in the trial.

The notorious Menashe later admitted to try to frame Tsvangirai. Welshman simply wanted Tsvangirai hanged.

  1. In 2005, President Tsvangirai fought hard to stop re-introduction of Senate. Unfortunately his deploys in parliament led by Welshman Ncube mysteriously vanished to pave way for senate vote to win by one Vote. They betrayed Morgan.
  2. In 2005, Welshman Ncube engineered a board room Coup that saw him walk away with MDC monies and properties except Harvest House.
  3. In 2006, after the Split, Zanu PF’s Patrick Chinamasa, the then acting finance Minister deliberately released political parties finance money to Welshman Ncube.
  4. In 2008, when ZANU PF was on the verge of defeat, Welshman Ncube spearheaded the Vote Simba Makoni for President campaign. He decampaigned Morgan Tsvangirai resulting in a bloody re-run that saw many MDCT Supporters murdered.
  5. In 2013, he saved ZANU PF from defeat. Welshman Ncube avoided a Grand Coalition that could have galvanised the pro-democracy movement and unseat Mugabe. He opted to form his coalition with Dabengwa to sway the Matebeleland vote.

Dabengwa confessed that he supported Simba Makoni to split the vote and deny Tsvangirai an outright win. They plotted together with Welshman Ncube.

  1. In 2023, boom Ncube-Biti-Tshabangu coalition and the destruction of CCC to pave way for ZANU PF bid for Two-Third majority to amend constitution and allow Mnangagwa a third term. Zimbabweans are still suffering and will continue to suffer until we make a concrete decision on these remnants.

Educational Boost At Chikurubi Female Prison, Courtesy of Siboniwe Foundation

By James Gwati- In a commendable initiative, the Siboniwe Foundation Trust has generously contributed a significant collection of educational materials to female inmates at Chikurubi Female Prison.

The donation includes many academic books, a projector, a laptop, and a projection screen.

Expressing gratitude for this thoughtful gesture, Harare Metropolitan Province Acting Officer Commanding Assistant Commissioner George Mutimbanyoka emphasised the transformative impact the donated items could have on incarcerated individuals.

“We should not remain the same after receiving these books, and therefore we have every reason to show our appreciation. My message to the beneficiaries is; take education seriously and make use of these textbooks. An educated folk has a deep reasoning capacity which propels him or her to greater heights in all spheres of life. 24 Passengers Escape Death After Stallion Cruise Bus Loses Power While Crossing Gwayi Bridge

A Stallion Cruise bus on Sunday veered off course, rolling over to the deep side of the road near Gwayi Bridge, resulting in 24 people being injured.

The unfortunate incident occurred on the 22 km Cross Dete – Binga road, where, according to our sources, a total of 24 passengers narrowly escaped death.

Ngqabutho Masunda, the 45-year-old driver of the Stallion Cruise bus, reported that the vehicle lost power as it approached a steep incline after Gwayi Bridge. This loss of power led to the bus rolling backward and ultimately overturning onto the right side of the road, coming to rest on its roof facing the northern direction.

The extensive damage to the bus prompted a swift response, with a report filed at ZRP Kamativi Police. Kamativi Police’s vehicle was dispatched to transport the injured passengers to Kamativi Mission Hospital for medical attention.

Authorities have confirmed the receipt of the accident report, shedding light on the tragic incident that unfolded on the Cross Dete – Binga road. The community now grapples with the aftermath of the event, as investigations are expected to determine the cause of the bus losing power and the subsequent rollover near Gwayi Bridge.

Zimbabweans In UK Report Mnangagwa To Rishi Sunak

By A Correspondent| Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom recently petitioned that country’s Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, calling on Britain to use its diplomatic links to engage Harare authorities over the abduction and murder of opposition activists.

Organised by various pressure groups for Zimbabweans in the diaspora, the petitioners focused on, among other things, the current political developments in Zimbabwe.

Among those who participated in the petitioning are exiled Chief Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members, Zapu European Union chairperson Duke Maplanka and John Burke of the Restoration of Human Rights, among others.

They also submitted the same petition to the South African embassy in the UK.

One of the petitioners, Simbarashe Jingo, said he travelled hundreds of kilometres from Milton Keynes to London to join Zimbabweans protesting the assault on democracy back home.

“We still preach and we will shout to say never again shall we continue to witness the abduction and killing of our compatriots and we hope the UK will use its diplomatic ties with Zimbabwe to pressure the Zimbabwean government to respect freedoms and rights of Zimbabweans as enshrined in the Constitution of the country,” said Jingo.

CCC activist Tapfumaneyi Masaya was killed by suspected State security agents ahead of the December 9 by-elections.

He was abducted and later found dead.

CCC legislator Takudzwa Ngadziore filmed himself being abducted by gun-toting suspected State security agents and he was later found abandoned and naked in Mazowe.

In October, unknown assailants kidnapped and tortured James Chidhakwa, a former opposition MP for Mabvuku-Tafara.

The list continues to grow and in the past, some of those abducted, even in broad daylight, have never been seen or heard from again.

One example is Patrick Nabanyama, an MDC activist and campaign manager for MDC politician David Coltart.

On June 19, 2000, Nabanyama was abducted from his home in Nketa, Bulawayo, by people believed to be war veterans, shortly before that year’s general elections. He has not been seen since.

Another protester, Rudo Yvonne, said the continued incarceration of opposition politician Job Sikhala was one of the reasons she joined the peaceful protest.

“As a Zimbabwean, I feel that we are being deprived of our rights and it is unfortunate that Sikhala continues to be jailed in what is clearly a case of political victimisation,” she said.

It is estimated that thousands of Zimbabweans have fled the country due to the worsening political and economic environment.

Police Release Festive Season Traffic Accidents Statistics

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that 1194 road accidents were recorded countrywide from the 15th to the 26th of December alone.

According to ZRP, the 11 days between the 15th and the 26th of December, 1,194 accidents occurred.

Out of all those accidents, only 60 were termed fatal.

87 people were killed in the fatal road accidents while 424 people were injured.

In 2022, 102 people died compared to the 87 people this year.

The number of injured people for 2022 was 289 compared to 424 this year.

According to ZRP, many of these traffic accidents happened on highways with the main cause being speeding, overloading, errors when overtaking, inattention, driver recklessness or following too closely.

The authorities have also confirmed a fatal accident near Diggleford Primary School turn-off where a Blue Horizon bus collided with a haulage truck and a Mercedes Benz.

40 people were injured, while five died on the spot.

The police urged drivers to be attentive while driving on roads.

Police Making Headways In Identifying Juvenile Boozers

Police say they have positively identified two brothers, aged 13 and 11, who were part of a group of juveniles caught on a viral video openly drinking alcohol in the Harare CBD on Christmas Day.

The minors, who looked unperturbed by the illicit activity, were also eating chips.

The drinking party sat on the veranda of a cell phone shop along Inez Terrez near a prominent food outlet.Police said the identity of the minors aged 13 and 11 has been established.

“The mother and father have also been identified and located,” police said.“The parents separated in November 2022 with the minors taken into the custody of their mother in Epworth area, Harare.”

In their investigations, police said they established that the minors left home to join other children living on their streets are now into “begging, vending and some misdemeanours in Harare Central Business District with other ‘street kids’.”

Police said the two minors who were in the company of eight “street kids” obtained Mayfair alcohol through someone yet to be identified.

Police said they have also identified the businessman who recorded the image and he is assisting with investigations.

Zimbabwean laws forbid the purchase and drinking of alcohol among juveniles below 18 years of age.

The shock image of minors indulging in the despicable act in broad daylight spotlighted on the degree of neglect that parents, the Zimbabwean society and government are all culpable to as they continue to subject some vulnerable sections of society to the ills of life.

Zim’s Got Only 2 Shining Multi-Award Winners, Hopewell And Auxillia, And Only One Multi-Election Winner Who’s Mocked By These 2, Chamisa

By Yeu Chirwama | The Zimbabwean landscape presents a fascinating study of irony and contrast. The nation boasts only two multi-award winners who consistently shine in their fields, while its sole multi-election winner struggles to achieve the same level of acclaim and validation. This paradox highlights the complexities and challenges within Zimbabwe’s sociopolitical and cultural fabric, offering a unique perspective on success and recognition in different spheres of influence.

Govt Threatens Schools Over Uniform Sales

Government Cracks Down on Schools’ Uniform Monopolies.

By Dorrothy Moyo | The government has issued a stern warning to schools enforcing a monopoly on the sale of school uniforms. In a bold move to protect parents and guardians from undue pressure, the government will enforce Statutory Instrument 1 of 2000 against any school compelling the purchase of uniforms exclusively from the school’s own supply.

At a press conference, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Torerayi Moyo emphasized that schools should not coerce parents into buying uniforms solely from them, especially when more affordable options are available elsewhere. “It is illegal for any school to demand students and parents to purchase school uniforms at those respective schools,” Minister Moyo stated, underscoring the legal rights of parents to choose where they buy uniforms.

Parents who have been pressured into buying from their child’s school have been urged to report such incidents. The government is prepared to take serious action against non-compliant schools, invoking the full weight of the law.

Alongside this announcement, Minister Moyo clarified the opening dates for schools in the first term of 2024, stating schools will commence on January 9. He also addressed confusion over the dates, particularly for Form One learners who are expected to begin orientation at boarding schools on January 7.

In a further move to ease the burden on parents, Minister Moyo advised schools against insisting on fee payments exclusively in US dollars, citing the country’s multi-currency regime. This policy allows parents to pay in any currency, aligning with guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

Lastly, the minister touched upon the recent completion of the education curriculum review, indicating that the results, including decisions on the Continuous Assessment Learning Activity (CALA), will be made public post-Cabinet approval next year. This comprehensive approach by the government marks a significant step towards ensuring fairness and flexibility in the country’s educational system.

Man Brutally Kills Boy For Being Lazy

In a harrowing incident that unfolded at Riverton Farm in Fort Rixon, Matabeleland South province, a 28-year-old man stands accused of brutally murdering a teenager whom he accused of being lazy. Talent Moyo appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody until January for further trial.

The victim, identified as Mncedisi Sibanda, also hailed from the same farm. The court documents reveal that on November 9, a confrontation took place between Moyo and Sibanda, triggered by Moyo’s accusations of laziness. In an attempt to escape the escalating conflict, Sibanda fled from Moyo.

However, Moyo relentlessly pursued him and launched a violent attack. The State alleges that Moyo mercilessly kicked Sibanda multiple times all over his body and proceeded to strangle him, inflicting severe injuries. Left battered and nursing his wounds, Sibanda’s health rapidly deteriorated.

On November 27, Sibanda was urgently transported to Filabusi District Hospital as his condition worsened. Tragically, his battle for survival came to an end on November 29 as he succumbed to the injuries inflicted upon him.

Following an extensive investigation, authorities apprehended Moyo on December 11 in connection with the alleged murder. Chamisa Outshines Day-Dreaming Tshabangu

By- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Change Champion in Chief, Nelson Chamisa has refuted accusations raised by party activist Sengezo Tshabangu regarding the alleged mismanagement of funds received from the European Union (EU) during the 2023 harmonized elections.

Tshabangu, who claims to be CCC’s interim secretary general, alleged that the party has failed to account for over US$2 million received from the EU.

He made the allegations when he appeared on the Asakhe Online program, The Breakfast Club, recently.

Tshabangu also said he would be sending a letter to Chamisa, demanding accountability for the alleged money.

However, Chamisa denied the allegations, stating that the party did not receive such funds from the EU. He posted on X:

Integrity matters! We received no cent from the EU. And we are proud of the support from the Citizens particularly those in the diaspora.

They have to this day, carried the burden to free our country from dictatorship!

In raising the allegations, Tshabangu revealed that his group has opened a parallel CCC bank account. He said, as quoted by CITE:

The party already has an existing account, but there are criminals around the president who opened that account without the knowledge of the appointed treasurer. It’s a pseudo account.

We had to appoint an acting treasurer to facilitate the opening of the account that we are now using.

The party fears accountability. We know for a fact they received money from the European Union, over US$2 million which was intended to pay the polling agents, food and other election-related amenities so that the election costs would be met. But up to date, our polling agents are not yet paid.

We know that the money was disbursed but we do not know where it went. We are going to be writing to the president of the party soon, seeking accountability.

We are putting the house in order. We need to establish who received the money and what it was used for. One of the recipients needs to account for that money.

Tshabangu seized control of CCC from Chamisa with the help of State institutions such as the Parliament and the Courts.

He has since declared that he will receive State funds for CCC under the Political Parties Finance Act although he was unknown by the majority of CCC supporters before he embarked on the infamous recalls of the party’s elected representatives in October.

Hopewell Chin’ono Changes Own Wealth Story from Non-Existant Sportscar Lender to Cellphone Hustle Claim

Hopewell Chin’ono’s Conflicting Wealth Claims Spark Controversy.

Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono is at the center of a growing controversy due to contradictory statements about his wealth’s origins, particularly surrounding a mysterious £50,000 credit and property ownership.

Chin’ono initially claimed his foray into property was funded by a £50,000 credit from a UK institution or company for a sports car in 1996. He recounted how Dr. Tendai Maboreke, a mentor, advised him to invest in real estate rather than luxury items, stating, “I was sitting in my £50,000 sports car as a confused 25-year-old… Dr. Maboreke asked if I knew I could buy a house in Zimbabwe for the same price. It changed my life.” Notably, Chin’ono has not disclosed the name of the UK institution or company that provided this significant credit, leading to speculation and questions about the legitimacy of this claim.

However, in a recent twist, Chin’ono shifted his narrative to acquiring properties from selling cellphones between 2003-2006. He detailed the challenges and adaptability required for his mobile phone business in Zimbabwe, heavily relying on Air Zimbabwe for importing phones.

This stark contradiction in his stories has raised serious questions about the true source of Chin’ono’s wealth. The lack of clarity is compounded by his avoidance of crucial questions regarding his financial history in a 2021 interview with Geoff Nyarota, and the mystery surrounding his first 10 years in the UK, where he changed his name from Mukusha.

Further complicating matters are allegations from multiple complainants of credit and cheque fraud committed by Chin’ono before his name change. A human rights activist from the NHS, critical of Chin’ono’s support from Nelson Chamisa’s opposition party, accused him of actions potentially harmful to Zimbabwe. Additionally, women from his high school days allege misconduct, and Dr. Maboreke’s family has expressed concerns about the use of their name in supporting his property claims.

The situation leaves the public and authorities grappling with numerous unanswered questions. The critical issue remains the unnamed UK institution that purportedly granted Chin’ono a £50,000 credit, a detail that could shed light on the origins of his property empire. This lack of transparency, coupled with the serious allegations against him, demands a thorough investigation into Chin’ono’s financial history and business dealings.

ANALYSIS | Before he discloses the UK institution he says sprung him into property ownership with a £50,000 credit for a sportscar in 1996 at the age of 25, political commentator Hopewell Chin’ono on 27 Dec 2023 rushed to announce another riveting colourful-claim, that he acquired properties rather from selling cellphones a decade later. He has now fast-forwarded his own story to 2003-6, way before disclosing the name of the UK institution that gave the immigrant £50,000 credit at 25 – a sports car which he exported to Zimbabwe without its log book and which he illegally sold so to buy his posh Chisipite home.

In all his social media postings, the man drops colourful inspirational claims that divert the reader from the main question which is the source of his £50,000 credit that he says sprung him into property affluence.

So far, Hopewell Chin’ono’s first 10 years during the period he changed his own name from Mukusha, remains mysterious and during interviews as the one done by his former employer, the respected investigative journalist Geoff Nyarota in 2021 (link below in the comments area), he failed the most basic proceeds of crime test, by avoiding answering the crucial questions on the origins of his money he used to change his name and acquire vast properties without a single salary wage paper trail to show for it.

So far, multiple complainants have come up some on full colour video to say they witnessed Hopewell Chin’ono doing both credit and cheque fraud before he changed his own name, and some of his own personal friends from those times were convicted of fraud in the range of millions of pounds.

One of the Complainants is a human rights activist working in the NHS who decided to dump Nelson Chamisa’s opposition party over its support for him when he was first arrested and slapped with dismissable political charges of incitement to violence in 2020, and she said back then Hopewell Chin’ono would soon destroy Zimbabwe, because what he did to her son (bullying him and his father on the WhatsApp platform) without remorse, if he does it to Zimbabwe, there won’t be a chance of a reversal.

Some of the Complainant’s are women who are speaking since his 1989 High School days at Marlborough, Harare where he allegedly bullied his own headmaster, Arison Chiware who had allowed him into the institution despite poor GCSEs.

Women since those days allege harrowing accounts of a sexual misconduct level. Last week, he posted an allegation accusing a politician (pointedly Nelson Chamisa) of paying the women who have been speaking since the days when Chamisa was a 9 year old minor.

To date, Dr Maboreke’s family has told ZimEye (recording below] they are concerned at the way he uses their family name to validate his claims of property ownership. (screenprints below)

TD Jakes Speaks On Gay Allegations Amidst Scandalous Party Accusations

By Religion Reporter – Thomas Dexter Jakes, A.K.A Bishop T.D. Jakes vehemently denies rumours of his involvement in a gay party alongside music producer Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs, aka Diddy.

Jakes refutes the allegations in a dramatic response, blending hypnotic music, Biblical verses, and unwavering confidence, adopting a communication style reminiscent of past charismatic leaders.

Watch Jakes’s captivating Christmas response here as he takes to his pulpit to assert his innocence amidst swirling accusations.

Despite being a father and esteemed figure, Jakes faces allegations head-on, with church staff members staunchly supporting him and rejecting all claims.

Jakes navigates the accusations in a sermon marked by soothing melodies, admitting imperfection but adamantly denying any wrongdoing.

Backed by a supportive crowd, he skillfully balances God’s truth and his own testimony, employing defense strategies akin to cases involving Eddie Long and Chris Oyakhilome.

Initially reluctant to address the allegations, Jakes shifts the mood as he emotionally discusses perceived betrayals, urging those seeking a response to lies to “log off.”

Eventually, he circles back, promising to address the issues at a later time.

In a poetic interlude, Jakes emphasizes personal growth and forgiveness for one’s flaws, but the sermon takes an unexpected turn when he expresses concerns about a terror threat, juxtaposing gravity with unwavering confidence.

The highlight comes as Jakes, exuding self-assurance, declares, “I am fine,” attributing his strength to the truth he claims to possess.

Allegations surround Jakes, including unconfirmed reports suggesting his involvement in Diddy’s parties and explicit encounters.

The rumors surfaced in the wake of a federal court lawsuit against Diddy by R&B singer Cassie, who accused him of rape and repeated abuse over a decade.

Jakes remains resolute in the face of these accusations, embodying a blend of musical charisma, biblical conviction, and unshakeable self-confidence.

Political Party Is Not Necessary, Says Chamisa

Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa says a political party is not necessary for a group of like-minded people to form the government of a country.

Posting on X on Friday, 22 December, Chamisa stated that he only needs a citizens’ mandate and to build a team comprising people from different political parties to govern effectively. He wrote:

You don’t need a party to govern a country. You just need a Citizens’ mandate and build a team inclusive of everyone across the parties divide!

Responding to Chamisa’s post, Max Lion, a lawyer, said the CCC leader’s “simplistic approach to politics” has created the chaos that is tearing the party apart. He wrote:

Respectfully, your simplistic approach to politics is the reason why the opposition party is in a state of disarray.

It’s this thinking that created a party with no structures. You don’t seem to have learnt from the harm it caused your party and how vulnerable your MPs are.

Clearly, you don’t understand the purpose of power and the purpose of a political party. Could this be the reason why the opposition has not made progress in many years when opposing a government with no ideas?

You are free to think what you want but to go against well-established principles and conventions will make you look ridiculous.

You are peddling an untested form of politics which has already materialised to the detriment of your political party. To what end?

Could it be that you don’t want to be accountable? Do you want to lead a political party without adhering to a party constitution? You are coming across as a dictator.

Countries often attract investors and opportunities based on the state of their politics. When investors do their due diligence, they won’t be impressed by your thinking.

Your thinking will result in the country being deemed not safe to invest in and lacking democratic credibility.

A political party is the vehicle that will get you from opposition to government. You have to demonstrate your ability to lead and govern while in opposition.

This is a team enterprise and over and over again, you have been reluctant to build an organisation with checks and balances.

If you can’t be democratic in opposition, how are you going to be democratic in government? You are sending negative signals about your preferred style of leadership.

The country is suffering from unaccountable leadership and it is the reason why the government is dysfunctional.

Surely, it would be absurd to pursue a leadership style that has brought chaos to the country.

A party with structures and rules will protect you and everyone in the party. A party that cannot show that it can protect its people is a party looking for trouble.

If anyone were to get hurt in your party and it is proved you lacked sufficient structures expected of a political party, you could have the biggest lawsuit of your life.

Politics is about ideas. Invest in ideas and show the country what you are capable of. Show the country your vision, for without vision, people will perish.

Since the launch of CCC on 22 January 2022, Chamisa has championed what he describes as “strategic ambiguity”.

The party has no structures and identifiable leaders except Chamisa himself, the so-called Change Champion in Chief.

Critics say “strategic ambiguity” allowed Sengezo Tshabangu to claim a powerful position for himself and take over control of the party, leaving all CCC elected representatives at his mercy.

Jah Prayzah In Controversial Music Video

By Showbiz Reporter- Jah Prayzah’s newly released music video has caused an outcry among Zimbabweans who feel it goes against the southern African country’s cultural norms.

The musician, also known as Mukudzeyi Mukombe’s new music video for “Walletically” was uploaded on YouTube on Christmas Day and garnered over 78,600 views in less than 24 hours.

Some critics argue that the explicit content, featuring scantily clad women throughout the video, is unnecessary for the song’s appreciation.

Here are some reactions to the controversial video:
Nyaradzai Gumbonzvanda expressed concern about the video’s impact on Jah Prayzah’s fan base, stating, “He is losing his fan base with this bad video.

I could not listen to the lyrics thereafter! This video commodifies women’s bodies.”

Skilled Rebhara simply remarked, “that Jah prayzah video eish.”

Chofamba commented on the explicit nature of the video, advising Jah Prayzah against delving into the realm of soft pornography, saying, “You’re a gifted artiste; you don’t need to jump into the pool of soft pornography. You really don’t.”

Liberty Mushunje lamented the shift from clean music to nudity in the industry, expressing, “The era of clean music is fading away, it is now nudity and cursing.”

Mnangagwa Suddenly Pleads for Peace, When He’s The One At War Even With His Own Family Since 1950 – 2023

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Plea for Peace and Unity: A Contrast to a History of Alleged Conflict and Division

Harare, Zimbabwe – By Farai D Hove | President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent appeals for peace and unity are being critically examined against a backdrop of serious, detailed allegations suggesting a pattern of personal and political conflict extending over decades.

Allegations of Personal and National Conflict

Mnangagwa’s history since his arrival in Mozambique from Zambia (1975-1977) is marred with accusations of divisive actions and personal betrayals, contrasting sharply with his current rhetoric of unity.

Grace Mugabe’s Accusation

Former First Lady Grace Mugabe made a striking accusation against Mnangagwa, linking him to plots against her husband. “He wanted to kill the president, he was working with white people when he told the president to go to Mozambique saying the whites want to kill you. ‘The President was ordered by Nyerere, Robert go back home!, I said go back home,'” she alleged.

Cde Karen Kazingizi’s Testimony

Cde Karen Kazingizi, a respected war veteran, disputed Mnangagwa’s role in the liberation struggle. “Emmerson Mnangagwa didn’t fight in the liberation struggle, he was only handpicked by Robert Mugabe to displace and divide real fighters,” she stated, undermining his claims of being a freedom fighter.

https://twitter.com/ZimEye/status/1384142777663983618?t=Sypn4PTyVzRqp4ABL_5v8A&s=19

Allegations of Infiltration and Division

Mnangagwa’s actions in Mozambique have been characterized by allegations of infiltration and division. In 1975, he was accused of engaging in a relationship with Josiah Tongogara’s sister, a move seen as a strategic manipulation. Later, in 1977, he was implicated in efforts to divide ZANU leadership.

The Death of Josiah Tongogara

Adding to the gravity of these allegations is the 1979 assassination of Josiah Tongogara, an event in which Mnangagwa’s involvement has been speculated upon but never proven.

Diana Mnangagwa’s Personal Account

His sister, Diana Mnangagwa, recounted a personal and disturbing story from their past in the 1940s. “He made me eat snake poison, and I ended up assaulting him, biting him at the forehead.

That’s why he has a mark on his nose to this day,” she claimed, shedding light on a troubled family history.

Destruction of ZANU PF Structures

From 1980 to 2019, Mnangagwa is alleged to have played a significant role in the dismantling of ZANU PF structures, a claim that stands in stark contrast to his current position as a unifier.

Tongogara’s death.

The death of Gen Josiah Tongogara on December 26, 1979, remains a highly debated and mysterious event in the history of Zimbabwe. At the time, Tongogara, the ZANLA army commander, was a key figure in the country’s struggle for independence. The circumstances surrounding his demise are clouded with intrigue, implicating Emmerson Mnangagwa, a relatively unknown figure at the time, in a plot that allegedly involved infiltrating ZANLA army structures after developing a relationship with Tongogara’s sister.

According to Grace Mugabe, the wife of ZANU President Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa was suspected of orchestrating a conspiracy not only against Tongogara but also against Mugabe himself on that fateful day. Mnangagwa’s purported involvement raises questions about the complex political dynamics within ZANU and the broader struggle for independence.

Oppah Muchinguri, who was accompanying Tongogara in Mozambique, has added to the suspicions by expressing doubts about the circumstances of the general’s death during their journey back to Zimbabwe. Muchinguri’s statements contribute to the ongoing speculation surrounding Tongogara’s demise.

The central figure in Mugabe’s suspicions regarding Tongogara’s death appears to be Mnangagwa. However, it is crucial to approach historical accounts with a critical lens, considering the absence of concrete evidence and the potential influence of political motivations. The intricacies of power struggles and internal dynamics within liberation movements often lead to differing narratives and interpretations of historical events.

The unresolved questions surrounding Gen Tongogara’s death underscore the challenges in unraveling the complexities of political intrigues during periods of intense struggle for independence. As Zimbabwe’s history continues to be examined and reassessed, the mystery surrounding Tongogara’s demise serves as a reminder of the intricate and sometimes elusive nature of historical truths in the realm of political upheavals.

Mnangagwa’s Unity and Peace Advocacy

Despite these detailed allegations, Mnangagwa continues to advocate for unity and peace. “May this festive season bring peace, unity, and prosperity to our nation,” he recently stated, calling for national cohesion.

As Zimbabwe contemplates its future, the significant gap between Mnangagwa’s public appeals and the detailed, unaddressed allegations of his past actions presents a complex challenge. Understanding the true nature of the President’s history is crucial as the nation pursues its path towards Vision 2030, with these allegations casting a long shadow over his leadership and the country’s prospects for genuine unity and peace.

Who Killed Tongogara Same Day Mnangagwa Wanted To Kill Mugabe According To Unchallenged State-House Report?

TD Jakes Unveils Unshakable Confidence In The Face Of Damning Allegations

By Religion Reporter | TD Jakes, the revered Pentecostal motivational speaker, addresses allegations of misconduct using a familiar blend of hypnotic music, Biblical verses, and unwavering self-assurance.

In a response reminiscent of past controversies involving other charismatic leaders, Jakes employs a communication style that captivates while dismissing accusations. Watch the response here.

In the midst of swirling allegations, Jakes, a father and respected figure, turns to his pulpit to assert his innocence.

Church staff members stand by him, refuting all accusations.

Jakes’ approach echoes the defence strategies seen in the cases of Eddie Long and Chris Oyakhilome.

Jakes weaves through the accusations in a sermon marked by soothing melodies, claiming imperfection but denying the alleged wrongdoings.

The charismatic leader, backed by a supportive crowd, skillfully navigates the delicate balance between God’s truth and his own testimony.

Initially, Jakes declares his intent to avoid addressing the allegations, but the mood shifts as he emotionally discusses perceived betrayals.

Despite urging some to “log off” if they expect a response to lies, he eventually circles back, promising to address the issues at a later time.

In a poetic interlude, Jakes emphasizes personal growth, urging forgiveness for one’s flaws.

However, the sermon takes an unexpected turn when he reveals concerns about a terror threat, juxtaposing the gravity of the situation with his unyielding confidence.

The highlight comes as Jakes, exuding self-assurance, declares, “I am fine.”

He acknowledges the challenges faced throughout his lengthy career but remains resolute, attributing his strength to the truth he claims to possess.

Jakes reassures his supporters in a display of unshakeable conviction, embodying a blend of musical charisma, biblical conviction, and unwavering self-confidence.

Minors Caught Boozing in Harare on Christmas Day Sparks Outrage, Alcohol Policy Alliance Demands Action

The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance in Zimbabwe (SAAPA ZW) is fuming over a video circulating on social media showing minors brazenly consuming alcohol on the streets of Harare on Christmas Day.

This blatant disregard for the Liquor Act has ignited fears of Zimbabwe drowning deeper in the quicksand of alcohol abuse, and SAAPA ZW is demanding immediate action.

“We are appalled by the lack of enforcement of the Liquor Act,” declared the Alliance in a scathing press statement.

“The proliferation of alcohol outlets, especially in residential areas, puts temptation on a silver platter for our youth and vulnerable groups.”

This outburst isn’t merely outrage; it’s a desperate plea for sanity.

According to a World Health Organization report, Zimbabwe holds the dubious distinction of having the highest number of 15-19-year-olds in Africa engaging in heavy episodic drinking, with a staggering 70.7% among males and 55.5% among females.

This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a societal cancer eating away at the nation’s core.

A chilling 2002 study predicted that by 2022, alcoholism would be Zimbabwe’s number one social menace.

Sadly, it appears the prophecy is self-fulfilling.

The devastating effects of alcohol abuse are already etched across the country – rising crime, violence, accidents, poverty, and mental health woes paint a grim picture.

SAAPA ZW is demanding swift action on multiple fronts. They want the authorities to dust off the cobwebs on the Liquor Act, enforce its provisions, and punish offenders for their blatant disregard.

But enforcement alone isn’t enough. The Alliance is calling for a comprehensive alcohol policy to stem the tide of alcohol harm among minors and the general population.

This isn’t just a battle for the authorities; it’s a collective responsibility.

SAAPA ZW is urging parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and community members to become foot soldiers in the fight against alcohol abuse. Educating and protecting children is paramount.

The media, too, has a crucial role – raising awareness and reporting responsibly on this pressing issue.

The video of minors guzzling alcohol on Christmas Day might just be a blip on the social media radar, but for SAAPA ZW, it’s a clarion call.

They believe that by joining forces, a safer and healthier environment can be built for Zimbabwe’s children and, in turn, the nation as a whole.

Harare Children Drinking Beer Video Goes Viral

By-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it has launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media in which several children are seen drinking beer in Harare.

The incident, which allegedly occurred on Christmas Day, involved children from Mbare suburb if claims made by one of the juveniles who appeared in the video are anything to go by.

ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Tuesday told The Herald that they were aware of the video and reports that some youths were abusing alcohol. He said:

We are aware of the video being circulated and for now, investigations are in progress. We will update you on any developments soon.

In Zimbabwe, the sale of liquor, including beer, is regulated by the Liquor Act, which, among other things, strictly prohibits the selling of beer to children.

Thus, selling alcohol to children is illegal and highly irresponsible. It poses serious risks to their health and development.

The legal drinking age in Zimbabwe is 18 years. Individuals who are 18 years or older are allowed by law to buy and consume alcoholic beverages.

Observers say Zanu PF spooks are targeting Zivhu for exposing the regime’s glaring errors.

Chief Ndiweni Walletically Rich After Winning Lottery

United Kingdom-based Chief Felix Ndiweni received an early Christmas gift after he won £39 000 through the Postcode Lottery last week.

Speaking to CITE in an interview, Chief Ndiweni said it came as a surprise to him as he had never played it before and was not expecting to win.

“In the UK we have the National Lottery just like any other country. So you buy a ticket and then you check whether they draw your number on that particular date. The one that I entered is the People’s Postcode Lottery. I had never played it before,” he said.

“This particular lottery was designed to help the community. So when you play it, you write down your address and you register with them. You then write down your postcode on the ticket. These tickets are drawn out almost daily. They may either draw out just your Postcode or several post codes around your area. From there that is when they will choose and select to say you have won so many tickets.”

Chief Ndiweni said he was amazed to have won the lottery on his first attempt. He said that as someone with no experience, he thought it was a scam for a moment.

“As someone who had never played the lottery before, I purchased one ticket for 40pence. I didn’t even know how to do it or how to play it. I later received a letter informing that I had won the Lottery in my area,” he said.

“I was quite skeptical at first. As I went through the document, I came across a part that required me to send my bank details. I said to myself, no, this really is a scam! I just put the letter aside and forgot about it. It was only after I had gone out to buy groceries that I came across a truck from Postcode Lottery announcing that all those who had won were supposed to report to a certain school to claim their money.

“It was only then that I went back home and took that letter and took it to the said school. When I got there they told me that I plead actually played three tickets and the least that one would win for each ticket would be £3 000. I thought to myself that maybe I had won £9 000 from the three tickets I had played but God had smiled at me and I had actually won £39 915. I was so elated.”

Chief Ndiweni said the money raised by the Postcode lottery is used to help local schools and the community at large through various community development projects.

“The money raised through the purchase of tickets is used to help local schools, clinics and other local projects. This is just an initiative by the private sector coming in to help local people without necessarily looking at the central government or local government for funding.”

Jah Prayzah Falls: Nakedically, Walletically

By Showbiz Reporter | Does the “Walletically” song speak about the wallet more than it makes the singer a muppet?

Jah Prayzah as a muppet- graphic

The tune may need a review. Jah Prayzah’s “Walletically” song needs to be investigated within the context of the creation of a culturally rich song production. It unveils a complex interplay of elements. The song’s opening lyrics, “If it was me the one with money, I would be a precious fruit, and be walletically,” sets the stage for a narrative centered around wealth. However, a closer analysis reveals potential pitfalls in aligning with the criteria of cultural richness.

**1. Cultural Narrative:**

**2. Imagery and Visual Representation:**
The divergence in the video’s portrayal of near-naked women raises questions about the alignment with Zimbabwean cultural norms. The juxtaposition of the song’s theme and the visual representation in the video introduces a discordant element that might be perceived as contradictory to cultural sensitivity.

**3. Musical Fusion and Innovation:**
Musically, Jah Prayzah has often excelled in fusing traditional and contemporary sounds. However, the focus on wealth in “Walletically” shifts attention away from the potential for a diverse musical fusion that incorporates a broader range of cultural elements.

**4. Collaborations and Diversity:**
The song’s lyrics do not indicate collaboration with artists offering diverse cultural perspectives. A more inclusive approach, bringing in voices from different cultural facets, could have added layers to the production, fostering a richer representation of Zimbabwe’s cultural diversity.

**5. Social Commentary:**

For a more comprehensive cultural richness, a song should aim for a harmonious blend of lyrical depth, musical diversity, inclusive collaborations, and a thoughtful exploration of societal and cultural nuances..

Health Ticking Time Bomb In Chitungwiza

A health crisis is looming in Chitungwiza’s Zengeza 3 suburb where raw effluent is flowing from homes, sending residents into panic mode, amid fresh fears of water borne disease outbreaks.

Every morning for the past year, residents of Manda Street in Zengeza 3 Chitungwiza have had to put up with raw sewer flowing from their homes, a situation which has resulted in an outbreak of diarrheal diseases.

“This is what we have to live with every day, this raw sewer flowing from our homes, the stench and to make it worse there is no water. We have been reporting to council but nothing is being done now we live in constant fear of our health,” said one of the residents.

Another added, “Look at me this is not my body, I haven’t been well as I was suffering from diarrhea because of this sewer. How are we expected to live under these conditions?”

“When you report to council they do not respond and when they do, they just come and poke at the main hole without fixing anything and the problem continues, sometimes they will be demanding money. Yet we pay our rates,” said another resident.

Efforts to get a comment from Chitungwiza Municipality were fruitless.

Since Monday, Chitungwiza has recorded a total of 69 suspected cholera cases.

The country has recorded a cumulative total of 12 870 suspected cholera cases, 219 suspected cholera deaths, while 148 people are still hospitalised, since the outbreak of the disease in February this year.

ED Gangs Up With Marry Chiwenga To Mock VP As “An Underwear Thief”

By Farai D Hove | ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa unwittingly joined forces with Marry Chiwenga, accusing his own deputy of being an underwear thief. This accusation was coupled with a description of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga by his monkey-thief totem. Marry Chiwenga, the tortured ex-wife, has shattered the silence surrounding his recent marriage ceremony with a powerful and disturbing message on social media.

Chiwenga holding onto Marry’s underwear

In a bombshell revelation, Marry Chiwenga brought forth disturbing claims, exclaiming, “What now, where do we go from here, the authority for Constantino Chiwenga to keep abusing me and my children has just been rubber-stamped and confirmed by all those above and beyond.”

Expressing her anguish within 24 hours of Chiwenga’s recent marriage, Marry revealed, “All those that put together this ‘so-called project’ to destroy us must be pleased. I have suffered the full wrath of the war against me through fabricated false allegations of attempted murder, money laundering, and all that. Be merciful and let me leave my life.”

Accusing the judiciary and prosecution directly linked to Chiwenga, she asserted, “The judiciary and prosecution that works directly under Chiwenga is the same judiciary that has sent me to prison before, the same one that is at the top of all the false allegations and the same one that is at the wedding, confirming abuse of power and authority.”

In a poignant plea for justice, Marry lamented her unanswered requests for custody and property division, stating, “Can I also be allowed to move on with my life, have shared custody of our kids, finalize our divorce & division of properties 50/50?”

She dropped a startling quote, adding, “He is ‘shooting himself in the foot’ if he knows what that means… I am almost certain that he has no love at all for that ‘woman’ that follows him around as he has denied me access to my clothes incl my underwear, is he wearing it so he can dream about me…”

In another shocking revelation, Marry accused Chiwenga of being in a relationship with someone named Minnie throughout their marriage, appealing to mothers globally, “My plea is to mothers globally, to advocate for the release of my children into my custody without fear and victimization especially from a very high office in our current government.”

At the time of writing, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his new wife were still to comment over the allegations.

These quotes unveil a complex and troubling situation, raising serious questions about the alleged abuse of power within high-ranking government offices and Marry Chiwenga’s urgent plea for justice.

TD Jakes Seems to Respond To Allegations Using A Mix Of Hypnotic Music, Scriptures, And Emphatic Self Assurance, “I’m Fine”

By Religion Editor | What’s in the hypnotic music playing in the background and Biblical scriptures being splattered around when all you need is to address one small question? The revered Pentecostal motivational speaker, TD Jakes, has finally responded to allegations of sexual misconduct by clearing himself, but doing so utilising the same communication technique he used while defending the late disgraced preacher, Eddie Long

His church staff members have so far dismissed everything accused of the man.

It seems the same communication skill used by the disgraced Uebert Angel spiritual father, the Nigerian Chris Oyakhilome who defended his divorce case by announcing saying there is no way he can sin, because no man of God floes against God.

Oyakhilome said:
“I understand there are some media houses particularly in Nigeria and maybe in South Africa.

“There are many of them who have been writing stupid things, very stupid things, frivolous charges. That’s crazy.

“No man of God does something against the Lord, no. A man of God is set on course, there is a type of life that he is given.”

It could easily be that these three events concerning different preachers are totally unrelated in incidence; But the respected preacher, TD Jakes uses exactly the same communication technique in the latter two charismatic mega church contemporary leaders’ circumstances.

Accompanied by soothing instruments in the background, TD Jakes blows out over swirling allegations as he says he might not be a perfect person, but he did not do the things he is being accused of.

Jakes seems to respond to the #Diddy allegations, choosing a church sermon for the task. He starts off by saying he won’t address them, but in the sermon, he later cries and speaks concerning people he says are stabbing his back.

He draws the crowd “to what I am going to say,” but then changes saying, ” All of you who expect me to address a lie you can log off.”

Jakes starts by juxtaposing themes between God’s Truth, and his own- his personal testimony over the misconduct alleged by his accusers. He does not seem geared to offer his audience an understanding of the distinction between God’s honesty and his own, and at this stage, many simplistic minds could easily conclude that Jakes and God Almighty are one and the same person.

“I will not use this sacred pulpit on this sacred day to address a lie when I could preach the Truth,” he says.

He goes into a poetic monologue saying, ” I will stand straight up, head up, back straight, and preach the unadulterated and infallible Word Of God, because that is what the pulpit is for,” he says, to some loud screaming from the crowd.

The mood is however soon switched off until TD Jakes bounces back again to start addressing the very same things he at the beginning said he would ignore.

He says, “but there will be a time, ” he adds.

In the middle of the sermon, he tells tells others, “forgive yourself for who you are not; you can’t spend the rest of your life for things you can’t change, and God I believe will strengthen your shoulders before you leave this room.”

He then immediately expounds a struggle he says he suffered throughout the week saying there was a terror threat, ” You know what I was really worried about it all week,” he says.

He adds, ” Our terror threat is at its highest level, and I spent by week making sure that everything that we needed was in place in case there was an attack… “

The most notable statement is one of self assurance as Jakes says he is not nervous. He says: “You can’t do this 50 years and ain’t been a fight, I’ve been in a storm. I’ve been under attack. I am fine. He that is with me is more than all those that are against me, I am fine. Glory to God Helleluyah. Let’s lift up the Name of Jesus. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for praying for me. Thank you for being concerned about me. I can feel you, i can feel you, I am okay, come on, come on, I am good, I am good, I am good, I am good, I am good, because I know the truth. When you know the truth you ain’t got to be nervous… you ain’t got to be uneasy. You ain’t got to be in trouble.”
