Bulawayo Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Accident

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident that occurred last week on Wednesday and claimed a man’s life.

Posting on its official Twitter handle, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)said the incident happened at around 9.30PM along Robert Mugabe Road between 5th and 6th Avenue. The deceased is yet-to-be-identified and is suspected to be aged about 30-35 and died on the spot after being hit by an unknown motorist.

“The victim was wearing black trousers, a blue work suit jacket and navy-blue Puma tennis. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” said the police.

Such incidents have been rampant lately with the police expressing concern. In December, police initiated a manhunt for at least 20 motorists who were engaged in hit-and-run incidents before fleeing the scene without helping the people they ran over.

Johnson Banned

Johnson and Johnson baby powder containing taic has been banned with immediate effect by the Ministry of Health and Child Care due to the ingredient’s propensity to cause cancer.

Health inspectors were instructed to destroy or return any Johnson & Johnson baby powder goods they found in local markets by Air Commodore Dr. Jasper Chimedza, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

This development follows news that Johnson and Johnson, an American multinational corporation, had assumed the responsibility of paying US$8.9 billion to the medical industry in compensation for claims that the company’s baby powder was contributing to cancer on April 18, 2023, according to Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC).

It also comes at a time when the company was facing over 40 000 lawsuits in the US alleging that baby powder contaminated with asbestos caused ovarian cancer or mesothelioma. But Johnson & Johnson did not attribute the switch to that controversy, calling it a “commercial decision” that “will help simplify our product offerings, deliver sustainable innovation, and meet the needs of our consumers, customers, and evolving global trends.”

“Corn starch based Johnson’s Baby Powder is already sold in countries around the world,” the company said in a statement announcing the change. “Our position on the safety of our cosmetic talc remains unchanged,” the statement continued.

“Research by the American Academy of Paediatrics unearthed that the taic used in the production of the baby powder was highly toxic due to contamination with carcinogen asbestos,” said Dr Chimedza in a directive published on May 24, 2023.

Dr Chimedza also said countries such as Tanzania, through its Tanzania Bureau of Standards had on April 19, 2023, also moved to ban the importation, distribution and sale of Johnson and Johnson baby powder containing the taic ingredient.

Permanent secretary noted that Johnson and Johnson baby powder is still popular in South Africa and given the “significant importation of health products by Zimbabwe” from the neighbouring country there was a possibility the product could find its way into the country.

“There is a high risk that contaminated baby powder could still be finding its way into the Zimbabwe market,” said Dr Chimedza

Maruwa In Trouble

Dynamos Chairman Moses Maunganidze has revealed that the club’s Human Capital Committee has reviewed head coach Herbert Maruwa’s performance and decided to give him a two-match ultimatum.

The Glamour Boys have failed to collect maximum points in their last five games, with their last win coming in the Harare Derby against CAPS United in late April.

The team drew four successive games before losing to Ngezi Platinum in their recent match.

The poor run has left Dembare in eighth place on the Castle Lager Premiership table.

“The Human Capital Committee meets after every five games to review the performance of the team, said Maunganidze as quoted by the Herald. “Today (yesterday), the committee went at length discussing the poor showing by the team in May.

“We failed to win any match and obviously, the committee had to set some conditions as a way forward.”

The chairman added: “It was resolved that the team should win the next two games without fail or the technical team will be restructured.”

Dynamos will face ZPC Kariba this weekend before playing struggling Black Rhinos in the following round.- Soccer24 News

Mnangagwa Willing To Meet Chamisa

By-Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he could meet with the main opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa.

Mnangagwa said Chamisa and all opposition political party leaders should feel free to approach him and should not use proxies, the media and third parties.

President Mnangagwa, who has kept an open door policy to all Zimbabweans, has established the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform where he regularly interacts with all opposition political parties.
In an interview with the Third Eye and Brick By Brick magazines this week, President Mnangagwa said all opposition leaders should not seek dialogue outside conventional means as that was not the hallmark of true leadership.
“He (Chamisa) goes to the press to want to talk to me, if you want to talk to me, come to me not the press. I will not reply to statements in the press. A solid leader knows what to do if you want to talk to a colleague.”
Turning to the use of the Zimbabwe dollar, President Mnangagwa said there was no turning back as using other countries’ currencies had crippled the economy before in the early 2000s.
He said the Government would put in place measures that would see increased confidence and strengthening of the local currency.
“The sanctions succeeded in destroying our Zimbabwean currency. You needed to carry $2 billion to buy bread, and that was not feasible so that’s when we abandoned our currency and allowed multiple currencies to apply and that stabilised our situation but there is no country that can develop without its own currency.
“So we’ve reached a stage where we must have our own currency that is under serious attack but we will never abandon it. What we might do is to legislate against foreign currency to make sure we use our own currency,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said the use of the Zimbabwe dollar as legal tender was irreversible adding that the country was not only politically independent but also economically independent.
“Our people must know that our currency is there to stay but foreign currencies of other countries are not there to stay. Initially, we got political independence in 1980 but thereafter 1990 we assumed full independence because the Lancaster constitution expired and we are independent both in terms of politics and our resources, no one gives us directions in terms of what we must do with our resources,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF along with several other global political parties have rallied behind Russia in its quest to end the United States dollar’s hegemony.
Speaking during a virtual meeting
of the Organising Committee of the Forum of Supporters Against Modern Practices of Neo-colonialism, the ruling party’s Secretary for External Relations, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, who was representing the national Chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, said the stance had been necessitated by the need to put an end to imperialism.
“When we gathered not so long ago in our inaugural constituent session, we set out on a journey, seeking to checkmate contemporary forms of imperialism and colonialism which are threatening international security including that of the Russian Federation.
“I am confident that the issues we are addressing in the forthcoming constituent Forum of Supporters Against Modern Practices scheduled for October cover a wide range of challenges confronting the rest of the world due to the nefarious activities and machinations of imperial forces.
“We must therefore make a deliberate and strategic decision as members of the international community to ensure that we will play a larger and long-term role in shaping international affairs, now and in the future in close partnership. After all, all our countries have a profound interest in the emergence of a peaceful and prosperous international community,” said Cde Mumbengegwi.
Speaking at the same meeting, the Chairman of the United Russia Party, Cde Dmitry Medvedev, said there was need to counter colonial forces.
“Colonialism in its new form is becoming a challenge for many countries and the false rhetoric about human rights by the United States is causing great harm,” he said.
Cde Henrique Fontana of the Labour Party of Brazil said it was imperative that nations join and unite against neo-colonialism.
“Society now understands the neo-liberal consequences and so there is a need for a real productive engagement,” he said.
Representatives from Indonesia, Venezuela, South Africa, Mozambique, Myanmar, Pakistan and Nicaragua, among others, called for a world balance of power and reaffirmed their support to Russia.

Manicaland Woman Dies Of Runyoka

By- A Chigodora’s Manicalnd province bedridden and a year-long wheelchaired elderly woman has died before her ex-lover could reverse the sex lock spell (runyoka) he allegedly cast on her for ending their affair.

Last week on Saturday, Gogo Maundu appeared before Headman Chigodora’s court pleading for the traditional court’s assistance in reversing the curse.
She accused Edmund Maziwei of ‘fixing’ her through runyoka when she terminated their relationship.
Headman Chigodora confirmed Gogo Maundu’s death.
He also said Maziwei vehemently denied casting a spell on Gogo Maundu when they appeared before his court.
“Gogo Maundu passed away last week on Saturday night after she had appeared before my court on Saturday afternoon. She was suffering from runyoka but Maziwei denied being behind it.
They . In fact, Maziwei vehemently denied ever being in a relationship with Gogo Maundu. For that reason, he said he was not in a position to perform any ritual to set Gogo Maundu free from the spell.
“I had to force Maziwei him to conduct the ritual but unfortunately Gogo Maundu passed on before it could be done,” said Headman Chigodora.
During her court appearance, Gogo Maundu insisted that Maziwei had the remedy to her ailment.
She said she dated the married Maziwei for a year and later decided to end their relationship.
“I dated him for a year from 2021 to 2022. He would come and see me at my house since he is married. I later realised that our relationship was not working and terminated it.
“He didn’t want to let go and threatened me with unknown consequences. I started felling unwell but I never thought he could be behind the ailment.
“I went from one hospital to the other trying to find cure for my ailment, all in vain. My children took me for X-rays, all to no avail. The doctors could not establish what was wrong with me,” she said.
Gogo Maundu then consulted traditional healers and was told that Maziwei was behind her ailment.
She was told that only her ex-lover could heal her by immersing his belt in water and giving her that water to drink it.
“I visited three spiritual healers and three prophets. They said Maziwei put runyoka on me. This is why I cannot walk now and I am struggling with my health.
“I want to be healed and I am prepared to appease him because my health is deteriorating with each passing day,” said Gogo Maundu.
She also said she even sent her grandchildren as emissaries to Maziwei, but they came back empty-handed.
“I have sent my grandchildren thrice to engage Maziwei, but he is not budging. He does not want to help me. He is enjoying my suffering.
“I know it was wrong to date a married man, but the punishment is unbearable,” she said. Manica Post

Biden In Mugabe Falling Style

By-United States President Joe Biden tripped on a sandbag on Thursday and fell on stage at the Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Biden (80), had delivered the commencement address to graduates of the military academy, had just shaken hands with a cadet and had begun walking back to his seat when he fell.

He landed on his right hip before lifting himself up on his right hand, according to CNN.

A group of men, including an official with the Air Force Academy and two Secret Service agents, helped him back to his feet.

As he got back up, Biden pointed back toward the ground where he tripped, indicating he stumbled on something.

He returned to his seat in the stands without assistance and appeared in good spirits as the ceremony concluded.

Biden had spent more than 90 minutes handing out diplomas and congratulating hundreds of cadets.

Biden is the United States of America’s oldest president and is running for a second term in 2024. He’s had previous stumbles in public.

Despite those incidents, Biden’s doctor has said is physically fit to serve in office

Robbers Pounce On Beer Truck, Grab US$8K

By- Three armed men in Muzarabani pounced on a beer truck Wednesday and grabbed US$8 000 cash.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has since launched a manhunt for the robbers.

Police said the three suspects, who were armed with a pistol and an unidentified firearm, robbed the driver and his assistant of US$8 000 and a cellphone.
The suspects who, were travelling in a Toyota Wish vehicle, pounced on the truck along Muzarabani-Mahuwe Road around 9 AM yesterday. Police said:
Police in Muzarabani are investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred on 31/05/23 at around 0900 hours at the 8-kilometre peg along Muzarabani-Mahuwe Road.
Three unknown suspects armed with a pistol and an unidentified firearm, who were travelling in a Toyota Wish vehicle intercepted a liquor delivery truck and attacked the driver and his assistant before stealing US$8 000 which was in the safe and a cellphone.
Cases of armed robbery have been on the increase in the country as businesses prefer to keep their cash rather than deposit it with banks after the Government introduced controversial currency reforms in 2019 which resulted in the conversion of US dollars to worthless RTGS.

Mnangagwa To Ban Foreign Currency

By- The Emmerson Mnangagwa-led Government may enact laws against the use of foreign currencies to ensure that Zimbabweans embrace the Zimbabwe dollar.

In an interview with the Third Eye and Brick By Brick magazines this week, Mnangagwa ruled out dollarisation, saying there was no turning back to using other countries’ currencies.

He said the multi-currency system was adopted to deal with hyperinflation but there is no country that can develop without its own currency. Said Mnangagwa.

What we might do is legislate against foreign currency to make sure we use our own currency.

Our people must know that our currency is there to stay but foreign currencies of other countries are not there to stay.

Calls for full dollarisation have been amplified in recent weeks following the precipitous devaluation of the Zimbabwe dollar on both the formal and informal market.

The majority of businesses, especially those in the informal sector, are no longer accepting Zimbabwe dollars, instead insisting on foreign currency.

This has resulted in trade unions demanding USD salaries and wages for workers to make ends meet.

Zim Parly Passes Anti-Government Critics Law

By-The Parliament of Zimbabwe has passed a law that criminalises criticising the government.

The Criminal Law Codification and Reform Amendment Bill (Criminal Code) contains a clause often called Patriotic Act.

The clause criminalises “wilfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe.”

According to the Legal think tank Veritas, Clause 2 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Amendment Bill, inserted a new section into the Code, creating the crime of “wilfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe”. Said Veritas:

The crime will be committed by a citizen or permanent resident of Zimbabwe who takes an active part in a meeting involving or convened by an agent of a foreign government, if the citizen or resident knows or has reason to believe that the object of the meeting is:

  • to consider or plan armed intervention in Zimbabwe by the foreign government, or
  • to subvert or overthrow the constitutional Zimbabwean government, or
  • to consider, implement or extend sanctions or a trade boycott against Zimbabwe, or against an individual or official if the sanctions or boycott affect a substantial section of the people of Zimbabwe.

Penalties for the crime differ according to the object of the meeting:

  • if the object of the meeting is to consider or plan armed intervention, the penalty for participating in it is the same as for treason, namely the death sentence or imprisonment for life,
  • if the object of the meeting is to subvert or overthrow the government, the penalty for participating in it is the same as for subverting constitutional government, namely imprisonment for up to 20 years, and
  • if the meeting is about sanctions or a trade boycott, the penalty for participating in it is a fine of up to Z$200 000 or imprisonment for up to 10 years or both. And in addition, if the crime is committed in aggravating circumstances (i.e. if sanctions were implemented as a result of the meeting or if a non-binding advisory was issued with the same effect as sanctions, or if the convicted person made a false statement during the meeting) and if the prosecutor so requests, the court may impose any of the following penalties:
  1. deprivation of citizenship, if the convicted person is a citizen by registration or a dual citizen,
  2. cancellation of residence rights, if the convicted person is a permanent resident of Zimbabwe,
  3. prohibition from being registered as a voter or from voting, for a period between five and 15 years, or
  4. prohibition from holding public office for a period between five and 15 years.

No ZESA Cause Of Low USDs, Says Mangudya After Unfreezing #Goldmafia’s Bank Accounts

After unfreezing the bank accounts of the implicated GOLDMAFIA crooks, Zimbabwe’s governor of the central bank, Dr. John Mangudya, has urged people to use the local currency saying forex is needed for critical needs such as electricity.

Mafia accounts frozen… govt spokesman’s announcement

While the Government has permitted the use of foreign currency in conjunction with the local dollar as an official medium of exchange, at least through 2025, with the ultimate goal being a full return to the Zim-dollar system, some economic players are aggressively pushing for full dollarization citing the local currency’s declining value as a store of value.

Mafia accounts unfrozen…announcement

Although Treasury acknowledges that the dual currency system is a helpful transitional solution for the economy, it openly said that the long-term goal is to de-dollarize.

In the midst of this situation, speculative market forces have been utilising the window to fuel exchange rate volatility on parallel markets, which has caused price inflation and a decline in consumer purchasing power.

Dr. Mangudya stated during a seminar hosted by the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe that Zimbabwe has roughly US$2,4 billion in deposits, half of which is retained as liquid assets by banking institutions for their exporters’, primarily mining industries’, clients to use as funding.

Contrary to the widespread belief that the government earns enough foreign currency to be able to dollarize, he claimed that more than 70% of the nation’s exports came from the mining industry and that the money earned does not belong to Treasury.

His remarks came in response to worries expressed by conference attendees that the Government was withholding foreign currency for the importation of energy, among other difficulties the mining sector was facing. This is in light of worries that power company Zesa is having trouble importing electricity due to a paucity of foreign cash, among other issues. The difficulty is hindering productivity in the mining industry, which needs roughly 2000MW.

Dr. Mangudya claimed that the mining industry was boosting the economy because it had given the industrial sector a boost and given new life to several businesses whose locations had been used as churches for a while.

He argued that it was odd that a nation that cannot import energy because it lacks foreign cash would wish to dollarize its economy. According to him, a small group of people and exporters want to dollarize the economy and abandon the use of many currencies.

“Because you are consistently exporting, people say we can now dollarise. This money is not ours — it belongs to the exporter,” said Dr Mangudya.

“It means that we have no capacity to dollarise because already we have a shortage.”

The RBZ Governor said the best solution was for citizens to have confidence in their own local currency. The Government has always expressed concern over citizens’ lack of confidence in the local currency and has chided businesses and individuals that inflate prices of goods in local currency as a desperate way to discourage local dollar usage.

As such, Dr Mangudya said there was a need for stakeholders to fully embrace the local currency for local purchases and spare foreign currency for importation of electricity and other critical services.

“The country has no sufficient foreign currency to dollarise. As you heard Zesa cannot import enough electricity because there is no foreign currency,” he said. “What it means is that what people are asking for, we have no capacity to dollarise. We have more than US$2,4 billion in our deposits and of those deposits, US$1,4 billion is in banks as liquidity for them to fund their customers,” said the Governor.

“That money belongs to few people and companies that are the largest exporters. Most of the money belongs to the mining sector so it means me and you we don’t have foreign currency.

“So, people who want to dollarise are individuals but we don’t have capacity and what it means is that we need to embrace our local currency for local purchases so we reserve foreign currency for imports,” said Dr Mangudya.

He said there is a need for more robust discussions on the way forward as a country, noting that the demand in the economy for electricity shows lack of capacity to import enough power, and appealed to citizens to understand that numbers do not lie.

He said the market clearing exchange rates only focus on clearing foreign payments and not domestic payments hence there is rampant duplication of resources for local payments and foreign payments.

The mining conference proceedings ended yesterday and today delegates will participate in a golf tournament.- State Media/Agencies

What Are The Symptoms Of Cholera?

Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Cholera remains a global threat to public health and an indicator of inequity and lack of social development.

Symptoms
Cholera is an extremely virulent disease that can cause severe acute watery diarrhoea. It takes between 12 hours and 5 days for a person to show symptoms after ingesting contaminated food or water (2). Cholera affects both children and adults and can kill within hours if untreated.

Most people infected with V. cholerae do not develop any symptoms, although the bacteria are present in their faeces for 1-10 days after infection and are shed back into the environment, potentially infecting other people.

Among people who develop symptoms, the majority have mild or moderate symptoms, while a minority develop acute watery diarrhoea with severe dehydration. This can lead to death if left untreated.

History
During the 19th century, cholera spread across the world from its original reservoir in the Ganges delta in India. Six subsequent pandemics killed millions of people across all continents. The current (seventh) pandemic started in South Asia in 1961, reached Africa in 1971 and the Americas in 1991. Cholera is now endemic in many countries.

Vibrio cholerae strains
There are many serogroups of V. cholerae, but only two – O1 and O139 – cause outbreaks. V. cholerae O1 has caused all recent outbreaks. V. cholerae O139 – first identified in Bangladesh in 1992 – caused outbreaks in the past, but recently has only been identified in sporadic cases. It has never been identified outside Asia. There is no difference in the illness caused by the two serogroups.

Epidemiology, risk factors, and disease burden
Cholera can be endemic or epidemic. A cholera-endemic area is an area where confirmed cholera cases were detected during the last 3 years with evidence of local transmission (meaning the cases are not imported from elsewhere). A cholera outbreak/epidemic can occur in both endemic countries and in countries where cholera does not regularly occur.

In cholera endemic countries an outbreak can be seasonal or sporadic and represents a greater than expected number of cases. In a country where cholera does not regularly occur, an outbreak is defined by the occurrence of at least 1 confirmed case of cholera with evidence of local transmission in an area where there is not usually cholera.

Cholera transmission is closely linked to inadequate access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Typical at-risk areas include peri-urban slums, and camps for internally displaced persons or refugees, where minimum requirements of clean water and sanitation are not been met.

The consequences of a humanitarian crisis – such as disruption of water and sanitation systems, or the displacement of populations to inadequate and overcrowded camps – can increase the risk of cholera transmission, should the bacteria be present or introduced. Uninfected dead bodies have never been reported as the source of epidemics.

The number of cholera cases reported to WHO has continued to be high over the last few years. During 2020 323 369 cases, 857 deaths were notified from 24 countries 3. The discrepancy between these figures and the estimated burden of the disease is due many cases not being recorded due to limitations in surveillance systems and fear of impact on trade and tourism.

Prevention and control
A multifaceted approach is key to control cholera, and to reduce deaths. A combination of surveillance, water, sanitation and hygiene, social mobilisation, treatment, and oral cholera vaccines are used.

Mnangagwa “Rapes” Democracy Before Polls

By A Correspondent

CCC’s Tendai Biti has pointed out that Zanu PF is unwilling to implement reforms before polls.

Biti has also accused the Zanu PF regime of playing hide and seek with citizens.

The tough-talking politician also dencounced Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s shadowy FAZ.

” What is this creature called FAZ?
There is political interference in Zimbabwe s election delivery system by a shadowy group known as #FAZ .We recognize & respect Security Forces set up in Chapter 11 of the Constitution, namely the Army,Police,Prisons & the Intelligence Services. #FAZ is not a constitutional body,” Biti wrote on Twitter.

He also dismissed the Patriotic Bill.

“The election proclamation preempted & ultimately wiped out any possibility for electoral reforms before the election. It was therefore done in bad faith by a regime that is anti -reform. It however creates a constitutional conundrum in that new Constitutional amendments

A sad day indeed as Parliament passed the Patriot Bill this evening. New law is an unprecedented law that seeks to proscribe freedom of association, assembly& speech of any citizen holding a meeting with a foreign government. Not even Apartheid Rhodesia passed such a repugnant law

…political repression in Zimbabwe. It shows beyond doubt that ZANU is not credible nor ready for reforms .It embarrasses those that are naively pushing for debt restructuring in the absence of genuine political reform & an irreversible commitment to reform

It is highly debatable wether constitutional provisions without incorporation in the electoral act can hold.Very regrettable that Zim wades into an election without reforms .A missed opportunity.”

Gold Mining Dynamics

Gold miming is the new industry that is keeping the country afloat with main beneficiary being what l call the “bank” .

The bank are those that buy Gold from the small scale mines through a long list of mediation or middleman that they themselves will never meet . Because of availability of money lots of cash a lot of antisocial activities take place which are “normal” to the miners themselves but are slowly destroying the environment and society itself .

I will briefly list them then cover the causes and where possible the solution.
1 land degradation
Gold is not always there sometimes you hit a dry spell because of different reasons ranging from hitting a barren level at the reef , striking water veins that stops mining itself or sudden collapse of shafts inorder to sustain themselves they start digging alluvial Gold in what is known as rubble or bhalaza found in loose stones this causes serious land degradation because it usually covers vast lands needs no capital just a shovel and a pick . When this happens no official can monitor or stop that because of two reasons first its the “bank “.

Second one this is source of livelihood very sensitive it’s a matter of survival here not just mere talk where else can they go or do to survive. Most claims are in remote areas access is difficult by law enforcement agencies but the damage to the environment is huge including tree cutting.
2 in proper use of PPE
The main purpose of PPE is to protect you not for officers proper use of PPE is crucial in the event of an accident.

Helmet is meant to cover the head must be worn all the time and firmly to the head just in case a loose stone falls to your skull or when you fall off on your way into the shaft . Most cases people fall head first and hit the ground with bare head when a loose Helmet has fallen off. Helmet should be tightened all the time .
Safety shoes .

Its now a new norm to use safety shoes and worksuits as fashion gear but the whole purpose of safety shoes is to protect toes and feet from any Falling objects , a proper safety shoe must have metal infront for those using gumboots should also use type with metal infront at all times whether hot or cold weather’s.

3 Disused shafts crisis
When a shaft is no longer safe for use it must be refilled and Lan rehabilitated which is theory because in reality all the rocks mined would have been transported to another what do you use to refill at whose expense. Such shafts usually have tempting pillars of rocks with visible gold .

Note this is a pillar left to support the shaft but it has tempting gold which cannot be resisted in tough times. Most fatal mine accidents are caused by these and both the mine manager and mine owner won’t be aware of such activities of mining a pillar until disaster strikes and life is lost and mine is suspended.

Child labour crisis.
Most activities if not all are done by self employed people no known employer hires people those looking for way of survival employ themselves.

The issue of age is no longer considered because kids ranging from 12 to 17 who drop out of school for different reasons end up employing themselves in this lucrative but dangerous business.

Since they are their noone can prevent child labor either they work at the mine or find a worse source of income in crime ranging from stealing, armed robbery to stock theft . This has no solution unless the ministry of social welfare intervens to solve not arrest . This is coupled with undocumented mine workers with absolute no form of registration from birth certificate upto national ID .

Reasons vary some never applied for an documentation because poverty and lack of knowledge some cases its the father without ID , then kid automatically no registration In worse cases upto grandson . Some cases particulars could have been lost while moving around or burnt in plastic houses .
Complex societies .

Since mining is now a source of livelihood people travel around to look for gold and end up building homesteads that complete a village with people from different backgrounds, different tribes , different cultures and norms thereby creating what l call complex societies.

These have have no culture a new culture is developed subconsciously where the bank is the law around . Respect for marriage people marry , dirvoce and remarry in such a short time such that marriage looses absolute value. Plight of the girl child is threatened child are there but rare . What’s common is child sexual exploitation .

The majority know its criminal offense but somehow ignore usually money (bank) is the silent control here .

These complex communities are haven of criminals though they are a small percentage of gold mine infact insignificant proportion but they hide there hiding from offense ranging from murder , robbery ; theft and so on…

Come To Me, Mnangagwa Tells Chamisa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has accused opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa of demanding dialogue through the media saying if he genuinely wants to talk he knows what to do.

In an interview with a Zanu PF aligned Third Eye, Mnangagwa said he will not reply to statements made in the press.

Patriotic Bill Is Unclear, Ambiguous And Imprecise: Rights Lawyers

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) said on Thursday that the Patriotic law is “unclear, ambiguous, imprecise and likely to be misused by the law enforcement”.

Zanu PF Wednesday invoked its parliamentary majority to muscle through, the controversial Criminal Law Amendment Bill – better known as the Patriotic Bill – which seeks to impose death, at the very extreme, on citizens “willfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe”.

The law, fiercely opposed by the opposition, sailed through with a 99 affirmative vote while 17 opposed it.

Among its gamut of punishable offences, the law criminalises active participation by citizens in meetings inside and outside Zimbabwe on issues of military intervention, subverting, upsetting, overthrowing or overturning the constitutional government, or on economic sanctions and trade boycotts.

The law seeks to punish any person who engages foreign governments’ officials or embassies without prior government authorisation amid strong fears this could endanger the works of journalism.

“The law does not define sovereignty and national interest, which could be broadly and subjectively interpreted to criminalise the lawful conduct of those expressing their freedom of expression,” the lawyers’ group said.

The law also applies to actions done outside Zimbabwe, meaning one could be charged in Zimbabwe for allegedly committing the crimes abroad.

ZLHR added, “We are deeply concerned about the harsh penalties for deliberately injuring the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe, which include the death penalty, long imprisonment, loss of citizenship, ban from registering or voting as a voter for at least five years”.

ZLHR said that the death penalty in the law violates section 48 of the national constitution, which only allows capital punishment for murder in aggravating circumstances.

The government claims that there is nothing wrong with the law, and compares it to the Logan Act in the United States, which forbids unauthorised American citizens from negotiating with foreign governments that have a dispute with the United States.

Only two people have ever been charged with violating the Logan Act, one in 1802 and the other in 1852. Neither was found guilty.

Incapacitated UZ Lecturers Join Growing List Of Zim Workers Demanding USD Salaries

University of Zimbabwe (UZ) lecturers have declared incapacitation, joining a growing list of workers in the private and public sectors pushing for United States dollar salaries.

In a letter addressed to the Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare ministry, the Association of University Teachers (AUT), which represents the interests of academic staff at universities, said UZ lecturers were now failing to make ends meet.

“To illustrate the situation, as of October 2018, a junior lecturer’s monthly salary was US$2 258, (“pre-October 2018 salary scales”) …,” the letter read in part.

“By September 2022, the situation had reached unconscionable levels of a salary worth less than US$200 for a junior lecturer. Such a salary was lower than the lowest paid general worker in the private sector.”

They further indicated: “By the commencement of 2023, the situation had sharply deteriorated. The deductions for normal services like medical aid, pension, funeral policies and motor vehicle insurance were now more than the salary.

“In fact, staff was now earning what the university termed ‘negative salaries’. Deductions deducted were more than the salary.”

AUT said the lecturers could no longer afford to come to work, feed their families and meet other normal expenses such as school fees, medical bills and rent.

According to AUT, they have been trying to engage Higher and Tertiary Education minister Amon Murwira over their plight without success.

“The minister was not sympathetic and disclaimed responsibility for the welfare of employees of State universities,” AUT said.

“He categorically stated that the responsible authorities and employers were the university councils and not the government.

“He stated that the government only provided a grant to assist the universities, which were expected to come up with their own other independent means of self-funding.”

Murwira could not be reached for comment.

Workers across the country are pushing for United States dollar salaries as the local currency has been rendered valueless by inflation. NewsDay

Joe Biden Trips And Fall Again

US President Joe Biden has tripped and fallen while handing out diplomas at a graduation ceremony for the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Mr Biden, who is the nation’s oldest serving president at 80, was helped back up to his feet and appeared to be unhurt.

The president had been standing for about an hour and a half to shake hands with each of the 921 graduating cadets.

The White House communications director said earlier “he’s fine”.

“There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” Ben LaBolt wrote on Twitter after Thursday’s fall.

“I got sandbagged,” the smiling president joked to reporters as he arrived back at the White House that evening.

A White House press pool report earlier said Mr Biden had tripped on a black sandbag while moving on stage.

Footage of the incident shows Mr Biden appearing to point at one of two sandbags used to prop up his teleprompter as he was helped up by an Air Force official and two members of his Secret Service detail.

He was seen walking back to his seat unassisted and later jogging back to his motorcade when the ceremony ended shortly after the accident.

The pool reporter added that the president did not take questions when he returned to his plane.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Mr Biden was feeling “totally fine” and had boarded the plane flashing “a big smile”.

Critics have said Mr Biden is too old to run for a second term as president.

Recent polls suggest a majority of US voters are concerned about his advanced age. He would be 82 at the start of a second term if he wins.

This fall, in addition to previous stumbles from his bicycle and on the way up the Air Force One stairs, could add to those concerns.

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner to face Mr Biden in the 2024 White House election, reacted to the incident from a campaign event in Iowa, saying “the whole thing is crazy”.

“I hope he wasn’t hurt,” said Mr Trump, 76, who has often poked fun at Mr Biden’s age. “That’s not inspiring.”

“You got to be careful about that because you don’t – you don’t want that. Even if you have to tip toe down the ramp,” added Mr Trump, apparently referring to his own careful walk off a stage that made headlines in 2020.

He said at the time that the ramp at the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, was slippery, and brushed aside the ensuing media questions about his own health as fake news.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another 2024 contender for the Republican nomination, also reacted to the fall during a campaign event in New Hampshire: “We hope and wish Joe Biden a swift recovery from any injuries he may have sustained.

“But we also wish the United States of America a swift recovery from the injuries it has sustained because of Joe Biden and his policies.”

Mr Biden’s last physical examination took place in February.

White House physician Dr Kevin O’Connor wrote at the time: “The President remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”

Dr O’Connor added that Mr Biden walks with a “stiffened gait”, largely caused by wear and tear on his spine and nerve damage in his feet, but that his condition was unchanged from a previous physical in November 2021.

Mr Biden is hardly the first commander-in-chief to lose his footing in front of the cameras.

President Barack Obama tripped walking up stairs at a 2012 event, while President Gerald Ford fell down the stairs of Air Force One in 1975.

Mnangagwa Okys Meeting With Chamisa

By-Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he was free to meet with the main opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa.

Bulawayo City Declare War Against City Rivals Bosso

THE Premier Soccer League has made a sensational somersault after confirming that Bata Stadium will host PSL matches with the match day 12 fixture between Sheasham and Herentals scheduled for Gweru.

This comes after an uproar over the PSL’s decision to force Sheasham to use Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane even though Bata Stadium had been approved by the ZIFA First Instance Board.

The PSL was subsequently accused of overstepping its jurisdiction and ill-treating the new boys, who failed to fulfil their week 10 fixture against CAPS United at Mandava, owing to financial challenges.

The PSL has since confirmed through the match day 12 fixture list that action will return to Gweru this weekend when Sheasham host Herentals at Bata Stadium on Saturday.

Action, however, kicks off on Friday as Simba Bhora seek their fourth win in six matches when they battle Triangle at the National Sports Stadium.

On Saturday Cranborne Bullets battle CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium, while Chicken Inn will be up against bottom placed, Black Rhinos at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo.

Meanwhile, troubled Bulawayo Chiefs have declared war against Highlanders when the city rivals clash in a low-key derby penciled for Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.

Chiefs have been excellent on the field of play, but industrial action has been the order of the day off the pitch with players constantly demanding their unpaid dues.

Bulawayo Chiefs are undefeated since overcoming Dynamos 3-2 in April, while Highlanders last collected a set of three points after their home tie to Hwange six matches ago.

Chiefs are ready to add more misery to Bosso whose strikers have been firing blanks.

“Highlanders are our big brothers, but unfortunately at this level we need three points. As Bulawayo Chiefs we are ready for Sunday’s game and we want to be there in numbers as we kill another giant,” said Bulawayo Chiefs Supporters Association Spokesperson, Prosper Phiri.

On the other side Highlanders fans are hopeful of a change of fortune.

“Of late we have been drawing, but being a city derby we expect to rediscover the form. We are desperate for a win. Yes we occupy a good position on the log, but we have been dropping points something worrying everyone associated with the club,” said a fan.

“Bulawayo Chiefs are not push overs. They have had a good form, but we are hopeful we will overcome come Sunday,” noted another.

In other matches set for Sunday, a battle of the teacher and student is on the cards as Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum visit Rodwell Dhlakama’s Green Fuel at Gibbo Stadium.

Dynamos take on ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium as Hwange return to the Colliery for a date against Manica Diamonds.

Match Day 12 action concludes on Monday when Yadah welcome log leaders Ngezi Platinum to the National Sports Stadium.- ZBC News

Nssa Boss Writes To Police Commissioner Over “Cyber Bullying”

By A Correspondent| The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) general manager Arthur Manase has reported online publication News Hawks senior journalists to the police for cyber bullying.

Manase says News Hawks has soiled his image with false information and in the process dragging President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s name into unverified reports.

He says two news articles under the headlines “Mnangagwa in spotlight over the massive Nssa corruption” and “Suspended Nssa boss mired in US$353 000 luxury cars scandal” which were published by News Hawks and written by Gagare and Mpofu were defamatory and acts of Cyber bullying, alleging he was on suspension on corruption related allegations yet no such thing exists.

In a letter to Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga, Manase through his lawyer Admire Rubaya, is seeking the two to be investigated for violating the Data Protection Act by publishing falsehoods. “It is our client’s view that the statement that the newspaper article which The News Hawks Newspaper published is false and defamatory. . .

“If the Newspaper had done its investigation well, it would have discovered that:Our client has never been suspended from NSSA, no corruption charges have never been preferred against our client.”

Our client has never received benefits beyond what is provided in his employment contract in his capacity as the General Manager including the vehicle loan which was properly signed for by then Board Chairman – Mr Clifford Matorera and the Honourable Minister Professor Paul Mavima, the current Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare,” the letter reads.

Manase believes the News Hawks is being used to whip public emotions and ask the police to investigate how they got hold of an un released report which is still in the president’s office.

“The intentional nature of their conduct stems from the fact that the reported articles are purportedly based on a draft forensic report which is currently with the Office of the President and Cabinet of Zimbabwe (hereinafter “the OPC”), which report has not yet been made public.

“In fact, it is our client’s assertion that the News Hawks Newspaper and its correspondents need to be taken to account for how they are in possession of a report which is currently privy to OPC alone.

“The allegations are not only unfounded and malicious, but they are also meant to pre-empt the release of the report, shape public opinion against our client, harass and psychologically bully him and destroy any prospect for his employment and economic wellbein,” the letter reads.

It is Manase’s argument that the News Hawks is being used by another faction within Nssa, being two directors who are currently on bail for criminal offences.

He avers that the News Hawks is pushing the agenda of the two and dragging the president’s name in a bid to force him to act and also soiling the public service minister’s name in the process.

“It is within the public domain that Newshawks has aligned with a faction in NSSA fronted by two Directors, said to be personal friends of the Editor who are currently on bail on fraud charges.

“Our client’s continued stay at NSSA has been construed as militating against the interests of these two and the NewsHawks Newspapers is being used as part of their strategy to destroy our client and the Honourable Minister Professor Mavima who is also seen as a stumbling block to their agenda.

“The name of his Excellency the President is being abused and smuggled into the articles by Newshawks as a way of pressuring him to Act according to their agenda,” the letter reads.

In his report to the police, Manase calls for an investigation into the conduct of the two journalists.

“. . . we urge you to consider Section 164B, 164C of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act [Chapter 9:23] as amended by the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] to investigate The News Hawks Newspaper, and in particular, its two correspondents namely Owen Gagare and Bernard Mpofu, whom we assert have committed offences relating to Cyberbullying, harassment and transmission of false data messages intending to cause harm,” the letter reads.

SA Court Silent On ZEP Judgement

By-Pretoria High Court is still to pass its judgement on the case of over 180 000 Zimbabweans living in that country with Zimbabwean Exemption Permits, with the Lawyers representing Zimbabweans saying they would appeal if the court rules in favour of the Government.

ZEPHA legal counsel, Advocate Simba Chitando, is seeking the court to grant ZEP holders permanent residence in South Africa.

ZEP expires on 30 June 2023, but there are no indications as to when the Pretoria High Court will deliver its ruling on the application by ZEPHA and other human rights organisations, such as the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF).

HSF has argued that the decision by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs to terminate the ZEP scheme without proper public consultation is unlawful and wants the court to set aside the directive.

Asked on SABC News what the plan was if the court rules in favour of the South African Government, Chitando said:

The litigation has been brought not just by the Helen Suzman Foundation but also by several other parties.

If successful in that litigation… we will wait for the relief and the relief will give us direction about what will happen to the ZEP holders.

Some of the parties that have instituted the litigation sought permanent residence… which is what the institution I am representing is seeking while the Suzman Foundation wants the Government to reconsider their decision.

Either way, we are bound by the court decision and we do not know when it will take place.

If we are successful… the Government would have to take a decision on whether they are going to appeal the judgement and obviously if we are unsuccessful I can guarantee you that we would appeal the judgement that is not in favour of ZEP holders.

The Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) system was introduced more than a decade ago to regularise the status of Zimbabweans who were illegally in SA due to political and economic hardships at home.

The Department of Home Affairs last year announced that the ZEP system would be terminated in June 2023, by which time ZEP holders would have to apply for “regular” SA visas.

Several Lesotho nationals living and working under the so-called Lesotho Exemption Permit have likewise been told that their services are no longer required.

‘Biased’ Harare Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti Sued For US$170k, Land Developer Seeks Her Recusal

Harare regional magistrate Vongai Guriro Muchuchuti is on Thursday expected to hear submissions by prosecutors following an application by land developer Georgios Katsimberis seeking her recusal from his fraud case on the grounds that she is biased.

Katsimberis’ application followed a move by a member of his legal team Millicent Moyo to sue Muchuchuti for allegedly making false claims against her during court proceedings.

Muchuchuti on February 14 accused Millicent Moyo of Mutumbwa, Mugabe and Partners of lying that Katsimberis’ lawyer Tinomudaishe Chinyoka had travelled to South Africa for treatment while he was in Harare.

Moyo was standing in for Chinyoka, who was not feeling well, and had made an application to postpone Katsimberis’ trial.

Muchuchuti was insisting on proceeding with the case without Chinyoka, who was eventually forced to rush to court in his condition before he could travel for treatment in the neighbouring country.

She claimed Moyo had lied to the court and labelled her unprofessional.

The lawyer is now suing the magistrate for US$170 000 for allegedly lying.

Katsimberis, who is standing trial for alleged fraud involving US$1 million after he was accused of building a show house without approved plans from Harare City Council, says Muchuchuti has shown bias in the trial including attributing wrong statements to his legal representative.

Chinyoka last week applied for Muchuchuti’s recusal, arguing that prospects of a fair trial for his client were remote due to the magistrate’s conduct.

He said she should recuse herself because it was highly unlikely that she would be fair to Katsimberis since his lawyers were demanding a huge amount of money from her as damages for character assassination.

“The immediate reason is that a conflict of interest has risen between the magistrate and the defence over remarks not covered by qualified privileges made in court on 14 February 2023,” Chinyoka said.

“However, the events were a culmination of a string of events that have proved that the magistrate is no longer in a position to guarantee the accused person the right to a fair trial before an impartial tribunal as guaranteed in the constitution.”

He added: “Now that the defence counsel has instituted proceedings against the magistrate, it will be impossible to balance her own personal interest and those of the defence as the two are directly engaged against each other.

“The magistrate should recuse herself because she can’t be a judge and a litigant where claims of substantial amounts are sought from the respondent’s lawyers.”

Chinyoka said the law of recusal should be grounded in the pursuit to deliver justice.

He said justice is always based on assurances that there will be prospects of a fair trial and yet in Katsimberis’ case the court had exhibited signs that it was conflicted.

Chinyoka said Muchuchuti’s claims against Moyo in particular had exposed her bias as the lawyer never made the statements attributed to her by the magistrate.

“On page 288 of the signed transcript, that is the part where Ms Moyo made the application for the postponement of the matter and the signed transcript confirmed as indeed what Ms Moyo indicated to the Law Society that she said, ‘Your Worship, we are seeking a postponement for this matter and the reason is, Advocate Chinyoka, who was supposed to be handling the matter together with Mr Kanengoni, is not feeling well and so, he has to urgently fly to South African today.

“He has written a letter seeking postponement and I beg leave to tender a copy of the letter.”

“Later on, Ms Moyo said, ‘Your Worship, you will note from the letter that I have supplied that Advocate Chinyoka’s condition deteriorated late yesterday.

“His travel to South Africa is essentially an emergency, note therefore, the provision and availability of the appropriate documentation is something that is not yet in place, but Advocate Chinyoka being an officer of this court, he will make an undertaking to provide the court with the documents, be it flight itineraries.”

He said it was clear from the application that Chinyoka was in Zimbabwe and that his condition deteriorated the previous night and had to urgently fly to South Africa on that day.

Nothing in the application showed that Moyo said Chinyoka was already receiving treatment in South Africa, he said.

Prosecutor Michael Reza will respond to the application on Thursday before Chinyoka makes his final submission on June 5.

Muchuchuti will deliver her ruling on June 7.

Era of Bootlickers And Political Elite Over – Workers Demand Quota System in Zim Parliament

By Maxwell Teedzai

Harare – The current president of NMWUZ – National Mine Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe, Mr Kurebwa Javangwe Nomboka during an interview on labour and the combined 2023 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government General Elections said the introduction of a quota system for workers representation in parliament, if urgently implemented before election date, would tremendously help improve workers’ rights and subsequently minimize the risk of future labour conflict in Zimbabwe.

“The reason why I’m advocating for the labour quota system is, one, because we want parliament to have vibrance and not be filled with bootlickers and political elite, and two, if you look closely at our Labour Act, it is outdated and not aligned to the New Constitution of 2013, and this is evinced by the fact that the voice of labour in Zimbabwe is still suppressed, ” said Nomboka.

Apparently, Nomboka further revealed, “Local Government councils are still charging housing stands in US Dollars, this is absurd because workers are currently earning their wages in rtgs$, which is Zimbabwe’s local currency, and this clearly proves that workers need self representation in Local Government councils so that they can safeguard their own interests and be able to actively participate in decision-making processes”.

“The efficacy of the parliamentary workers’ proportional representation quota system is quintessential and long overdue and must needs be enshrined in the Zimbabwe Constitution so that it provides for the workers’ quota system of seats in Parliament, and this to us is one sure way by which all social partners involved in the ongoing labour dispute can bring a lasting solution to our demands because we would now be able to have the agility to negotiate from a vantage point, better living wages above the PDL – Poverty Datum Line and descent work for all workers,” he said.

“These, he further stated, should  be elected through a system of proportional representation based on the votes cast for candidates representing political parties in a general election for constituency members in the provinces, while the extent to which the mechanism of the quota system will go is to massively empowered workers in Parliament and Zimbabwe”.

“We need a participatory approach to democracy in Zimbabwe, a democratic system which allows for meaningful participation and representation of workers’ demands, and generally, it should integrate all societal groups – religious, ethnic, tribal, political, gender, socio-economic, cultural and other minority groups – into the decision-making process,” he remarked while responding to a question on participatory democracy in Zimbabwe vis à vis workers’ rights and their proportional representation in parliament.

Consequently, Nomboka further argued that Parliament of Zimbabwe was full of irrelevant legislators elected on the ticket of populism, as they lacked the qualities to deal with Zimbabwe’s emerging complex and heterogeneous society.

Parliamentarians in Zimbabwe do not ideally connect with the diverse communities from which they come, leading to the continued assystematically exclusion of minority groups, a scenario which Nomboka blamed for the failure by Parliament to exude the tenacity it possesses to reach out to all sectors of society.

Whenever a representative parliament co-opts workers on board, it would simultaneously be able to develop multiple loyalties through the same workers’ political cooperation, and will eventually lay up the foundation for a more constructive conflict-free culture between labour and the Executive, which will subsequently lead to a new future where goverment and NEC – National Employment Council will be better able to resolve labour conflicts without resorting to violent acts of tyranny.

After posing the question on potential candidates for his propsed labour quota, Nomboka replied, “We would want to see the likes of Munyaradzi Gwisai, Overt Masaraure Peter Mutasa, Takavafira Zhou, Japhet Moyo, Shamhuyarira, Raymond Majongwe, Chibhebhe, Munengiwa, Chikosi, Muchi Taruvinga, Manyangadze, Mazarura and others in parliament representing working class interests, others in councils across the nation representing labour interests”.

The unemplemented Kadoma Declaration – Towards A Shared National and Social Vision for Zimbabwe, convened during the Inclusive Government and hosted by the TNF – Tripartite Negotiating Forum is a brilliant historical blueprint monumental document that noted the desirability to address the totality of the macro-economic problems and Country Risk Factors bedeviling Zimbabwe today.

However, there are other ways of achieving the goal of worker equality and representation in Parliament. Withholding public funding from parties whose lists of constituency candidates show excessive worker bias for example, might be a more effective way of improving workers’ representation in Parliament.  That could be done without amending the Constitution.

He responded to the last question on why Zimbabwe is slow at implementing the labour quota in parliament by saying, “In other labour progressive countries, increasing the representation of workers in executive bodies such as the Cabinet and other important State Institutions has proved more effective than providing for quotas in the Legislature”.

This falls far short of the long overdue need to achieve proportional worker representation in the nascent Zimbabwean democracy. No coherent ratifications or strong labour monitoring apparatus have been set up by SADC – Southern Africa Development Community to mandated member States to have at least a fair representation of workers in Parliament based on the congruence of the worker base to be represented in each particular state as a way of indulging workers in “decision-making structures”. Our own Constitution sadly, does not state that the Government must ensure that workers are equally represented in all constitutional bodies such as the Cabinet and Legislature.

Sadly in Zimbabwe, we have no former unionists or civil servants present in Cabinet, most of them are liberation war veterans and business moguls who do not have the capabilities required by legislators in order to comprehend the dynamics involved for Zimbabwe to pursue a prosperous future premised upon the vision to achieve the upper middle income society by 2030.

CCC Warns of Military Coup Over Zanu PF’s Election Tampering

By A Correspondent| Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Tendai Biti has warned that the unconstitutional recruitment of agents from the Zanu PF-aligned group Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) to allegedly tamper with the country’s election process is fertile ground for a military coup.

Biti, who is also CCC co-vice president, was speaking in parliament on Wednesday as he demanded Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri to come clean on the situation.

The mysterious group surfaced during Zanu PF’s recent primary elections amid claims by some party loyalists that it had seized control and was rigging the internal balloting process in Bindura, Muzarabani, Mt Darwin and Rushinga where some cell registers were reported missing.

Since the opening of the voters’ roll inspection by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) late May, CCC has raised alarm over what it claims has been the presence of FAZ agents at inspection centres.

Party spokespersons claim some names were missing from the voters’ roll while some have been moved, amid concerns over the possibility of a sinister bid to disenfranchise some known opposition loyalists.

Biti said the presence of FAZ agents at voters’ roll inspection centres was a clear violation of the Electoral Act and a dangerous attempt to rig the elections.

“The presence of FAZ agents at voters’ roll inspection centres is a clear violation of the Electoral Act,” Biti said. “This is a dangerous attempt to rig the elections and we will not allow it to happen.

“We are calling on Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri to come clean on the relationship between FAZ and Zanu PF. We also call on ZEC to ensure that the voters’ roll is clean and that all eligible voters are able to vote in the upcoming elections.”

Biti’s warning comes amid growing concerns over the fairness of Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections. The country has a long history of electoral violence and fraud, and there are fears that the ruling Zanu PF party is determined to cling to power by any means necessary.

The CCC has vowed to challenge any attempt to rig the elections, and has called on the international community to monitor the polls closely.

Breaking Down The Patriotic Bill

The Bill will amend the Criminal Law Code in four respects:

  • It will create the crime of “wilfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe” [this is the “patriot” part of the Bill]
  • It will provide mandatory minimum prison sentences for rape
  • It will alter the definition of dangerous drugs whose possession, sale and use are prohibited by Chapter VII of the Code, and
  • It will narrow the scope of the crime of abuse of public office.

Clause 2 of the Bill will insert a new section into the Code, creating the crime of “wilfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe”.

  • deprivation of citizenship, if the convicted person is a citizen by registration or a dual citizen,
  • cancellation of residence rights, if the convicted person is a permanent resident of Zimbabwe,
  • prohibition from being registered as a voter or from voting, for a period between five and 15 years, or
  • prohibition from holding public office for a period between five and 15 years.

Zanu PF, CCC ‘Play And Eat’ Together

LEADER of the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe (DUZ) Robert Chapman says Zanu PF and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) officials actually “play and eat” together and are taking Zimbabweans for a ride.

Addressing journalists on the sidelines of a meeting with party members in Dangamvura, Mutare last Saturday, Chapman said officials from the two parties were close to each other and were not serious about developing the country.

“There was great opportunity and light at the end of the tunnel when we had the GNU (Government of National Unity). We started seeing Zimbabwe becoming more prosperous and things started to change. Unfortunately, those folks that were in the GNU are still part of the system right now. They sit and eat at the same table. They were even given US$40 000 (housing loans) each,” Chapman said.

“Those people own companies together, they represent each other in their business and lawyers from the opposition are representing companies owned by officials from the ruling party founded fraudulently.

“If you have a councillor or an MP and the system has not been working for you for a long period in your area, then it is high time you removed them from office. Why would you vote for a person who has been in power for a long period but without bringing development, then why should we continue voting for those people?

Chapman urged Zimbabweans to register and vote for change saying if the Zanu PF government is given another five years, everything will go down the drain.

“We cannot do the same things that we have been doing for the past years. DUZ has come to change the game. Politics is now shifting. Look at what has happened in Zambia and Lesotho among other African countries, new parties are taking over and we are ready for that.  DUZ is going to bring economic prosperity, justice and modernisation to Zimbabwe. If we keep them in power for the next five years, it will be expensive and painful for Zimbabweans,” he said.

DUZ secretary-general Pishai Muchauraya said the party was ready to deliver.

“In the politics of today, there is no longer the big brother mentality. As DUZ we are ready for the elections. We have the people and structures throughout the country. We are going to contest in all council and parliamentary elections,” said Muchauraya, a former Makoni South legislator under the then Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDC party.

He said DUZ would launch its election campaign in Bulawayo at a date to be advised.

“All is in place and we are expecting thousands of our supporters to come for the election launch. We are having numerous disgruntled members from other parties who have come to join us. DUZ is for everyone and we have our strategies in place to win these elections. President Chapman has come in place to unite people and develop our country which is in a mess,” he said.

During the meeting, Chapman also said Zimbabwe was reeling under an economic crisis that had seen prices of basic commodities spiralling, replicating the 2008 hyperinflation era.

Only Mnangagwa And His Few Zanu PF Chefs Still Want Zim Dollar to Stay

The government will not dump the Zimbabwe dollar even if it loses value to unsustainable levels amid fears that the authorities will be forced to abandon all infrastructure developments that they are currently undertaking, Business Times can reveal.

Zimbabwe is undertaking several infrastructure development projects which include the Beitbridge-Masvingo-Harare road expansion and rehabilitation will be completed by year-end, while road rehabilitation works are underway on the Beitbridge-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road and construction of Gwayi-Shangani Dam, Kunzvi Dam, Tuli-Manyange Dam, Vungu Dam, and Semwa Dams.

Local resources are financing the projects, as Zimbabwe cannot access concessionary funding from multilateral institutions like the World Bank due to a debt overhang.

With the lack of access to foreign direct investments and credit lines due to two decades of isolation, Zimbabwe is going it alone (taking a leaf from Italia fara da se) to achieve the upper middle-income economy by 2030.

A government source close to the developments told Business Times that the sustenance of ZWL$ strengthens the “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” mantra as it allows all infrastructure development projects to continue.

“We often scoff at various reports of dumping the ZWL$ for multi-currency or US$ to stabilise the exchange rate, inflation, and economy at large but if we do that, how are these major projects going to be completed?

“These projects will only be completed if the ZWL$ is working,” a source said.

The source said the government is well aware of the exchange rate challenges and inflation but will not dump the ZWL$ on account of these projects of a huge magnitude.

“We would have dollarised a long time ago, but we need projects that are tangible to show to our people that this is what your government has done,” a source said.

The official exchange rate has plummeted to ZWL$2577.05 per US$1 from ZWL$671.44 per US$1 on January 3 2023 while on the parallel market, ZWL$ plunged to ZWL$4500 per US$1 from ZWL$1100 per US$1.

The call to maintain the Zimbabwe dollar comes as President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the local unit is here to stay.

In an interview with The Third Eye and Brick By Brick magazines, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said sanctions had succeeded in destroying “our ZWL$ currency when we carried over ZWL$2bn to buy a loaf of bread. He said that was when the economy abandoned “our currency for the multi-currency system to apply the US$, €, £ and ZAR, this stabilised our situation” adding there is no country that can develop without its currency.

“We have reached the stage where we now have our currency but it is under serious attack, we will never abandon it,” Mnangagwa said.

“What we might do is to legislate against forex to ensure we use our currency. People should know that our currency is here to stay, it must sink in our minds, it is here to stay but forex is not here to stay.”

Central bank chief John Mangudya said dollarisation is unsustainable due to limited foreign currency despite 70% of deposits in the banking sector being in forex.

“We are well aware that 70% of the bank deposits are in forex but we can’t dollarise, we cannot be competitive in a dollarised environment, we need to look at the national interests; this economy cannot sustain dollarisation, we have limited foreign currency; we live from hand to mouth (in terms of forex).

“Zimbabweans always go to the parallel market as they have a huge appetite to buy forex,” Mangudya said.

He said Zimbabwe cannot sustain dollarisation due to the rate at which US$ goes out which is faster than the rate at which it comes in and aggregate demand will fall with many companies scaling down and retrenching.

He warned that dollarisation would negatively impact growth.

Recently, the Finance and Economic Development permanent secretary George Guvamatanga claimed the Treasury had not printed a single cent from the central bank since coming into office in 2017.

Guvamatanga said the Treasury had also not used the central bank overdraft window but he, however, did not rule out the potential negative effect of the high velocity of the large payments to public contractors and suppliers to the Government on exchange rate volatility.

In early 2019, RBZ announced plans to bring back the Zimbabwe dollar as legal tender after a decade of using the US$ and seven other international currencies due to raging hyperinflation that had run the local currency aground.

Economist Gift Mugano said the major driver of the exchange rate’s collapse was “excessive printing of money” and a lack of fiscal discipline.

“In the last two years, the government has never spent within its means as it supported infrastructure and agriculture projects with short-term funding which was a recipe for disaster as far inflation and exchange rate were concerned,” he said.

Mugano said money released by the treasury would find its way to the black market, precipitating the devaluation of the already struggling local unit.

“Dollarisation is like death: You collapse and die. That is where the currency has gone. Our government has continued to take in lots of poison into this economy and printing money and being stubborn and putting more into construction and agriculture and failed to take advice.”

Zanu PF’s FAZ Continues to Anger Opposition

The controversial Zanu PF affiliated Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAZ) continues to cause confusion over its role in the country’s electoral process.

The opposition CCC has complained over how FAZ is conducting itself during the voter registration exercise amid concerns that it is writing down names of people who register to vote.

Zanu PF members have previously complained over FAZ’s role in rigging the party primary elections with Norton legislator Temba Mliswa accusing the controversial organisation of elbowing out her sister Mary Mliswa Chikoka.

FAZ has since tweeted that it is assisting young people to register to vote before the exercise is closed in two days time.

ZEP Holders Speak On Pending Court Ruling

By-Lawyers representing Zimbabweans with the Zimbabwean Exemption Permits Association said they will appeal if the Pretoria High Court rules in favour of the South African Government in their court application on the discontinuation of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP).

Zanu PF Bigwigs Torment CCC Members In Gutu

Solidarity… @CCCZimbabwe supporters converged at Mushayavanhu Business Center in Ward 35, Gutu on Sunday; sang, danced and had braai in solidarity with their members who were evicted from shops they rent from Zanu PF bigwigs including party secretary for security Lovemore Matuke.

In a rare share of unity, the members contributed money to assist evicted members look for premises elsewhere.

Matuke and Lillian Muradzikwa Zvichemo recently evicted CCC supporters and this was followed by an order by party youth on villagers to stop patronising the shops.

The evictions which violate the law are effective 31, May 2023 following three weeks’ notice.

Will ZEC Release Electronic Voters Roll Before Polls?

VOTERS’ ROLL INSPECTION:

After investigating the anomalies reported to us regarding the voters’ roll inspection process, we have made some preliminary findings, which include the following:

1️⃣The process appears to be polling station-based.

2️⃣If one goes to the wrong polling station, their name will not be on the voter’s roll.

3️⃣It is imperative that ZEC updates citizens on new polling stations and changes to avoid confusion.

4️⃣Urgent updates are necessary for the USSD system (#265) to reflect delimitation changes, transfers, and details for new voters.

5️⃣Physical inspection of the voters’ roll is more reliable as the electronic system is outdated.

6️⃣It seems as if the process is designed to frustrate citizens; however, it is crucial for citizens to take all necessary steps to inspect the roll before the deadline of May 31st, 2023.

7️⃣We expect better from ZEC.

8️⃣We are demanding that ZEC releases the electronic voters’ roll and conducts an independent audit of the same.

My Daughter’s Bashed Me

A Harare woman has filed a complaint with the Harare Civil Court alleging that her daughter has assaulted her over ownership of her late husband’s Budiriro home.

Memory Matusa claimed that her daughter Elizabeth Matusa claimed to have inherited the home following her father’s passing.

Memory, who was requesting a protective order against Elizabeth, informed magistrate Mrs. Tamara Chibindi that her daughter attacks her and collects rent from the renters, causing Memory to remove the tenants so that she can move into the home.

Elizabeth apparently claimed that because she was the only child and her father had died, she had inherited the house.

Memory pleaded with the court to stop Elizabeth from abusing her, saying she inherited the house by virtue of being the surviving spouse.

Elizabeth was not present to respond to the allegations, but had signed the summons acknowledging that she was aware of the court session.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi then gave a default judgment and ordered Elizabeth to stop abusing her mother and to keep peace with her at all times.

SKYZ Metro Hit By Desertions

Manurse Ndlovu, another well-liked broadcaster, has been let go by SKYZ Metro FM, joining the other six employees who have left the Bulawayo-based radio station.

The station’s eight-year-old MC and award-winning presenter was well-liked by listeners, and her loss will be felt because she was one of the station’s first radio personalities.

She is a part of the massive staff departure, which also includes renowned news reader Kundaimidzo Shamuyarira, who made his own resignation announcement earlier today.

Even though the station claims that their leaving “does not in any way affect our commitment to our valued audience and advertisers,” their departure will rock the station since, should they join competitor stations, presenters “move with their audiences.”

When a broadcaster moves, listeners follow them, giving other stations an advantage.

“Skyz Metro FM would like to announce that we have recently experienced staff changes, following the departure of a number of our staff members who have moved on to other opportunities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contributions and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.

“We are proud and grateful for the efforts of the following staff members who have been with the station since its inception and have contributed greatly to where the station is today: Tafadzwa Mukome Manurse Ndlovu Bonakaliso Mlotshwa Khayelihle Moyo Kundaimidzo Shamuyarira Shamiso Ncube Njabulo Proud Moyo,” said the station in a press statement.

The station said it will continue with its programming and has already roped in new presenters to replace those who have left.

“We assure our listeners that we remain steadfast in delivering quality programming and providing a platform that entertains, educates, and informs. We remain committed to providing our listeners with the best radio programming,” said the station management.

PSL Side In Massive Fundraising Project

PREMIER Soccer League outfit, Bulawayo Chiefs have embarked on an ambitious project where they are constructing a multi-purpose facility as part of moves to expand their revenue inflows.

Along Robert Mugabe Road and Connaught lies a facility, formerly known as Amazulu Sports Club which was adopted on a lease from the Bulawayo City Council by the now defunct Delma Lupepe-owned Amazulu football club.

The facility is now an eye-catching structure under the ownership of Bulawayo Chiefs who have set sights on transforming it into a multi-purpose Sports complex which will be a source of revenue for the club.

“Our village that we are working on currently is there to serve a lot of purposes to our club. the main purpose of the facility is for us to have a home where we could be doing our activities, training, camping but more importantly, raise funds from that very same facility. we are sprucing it up as part of a long-term plan,” said Bulawayo Chiefs spokesperson, Thulani Sibanda.

Veteran sports administrator Vincent Pamire is convinced that Bulawayo Chiefs have hit the right code, a move which other clubs should emulate to expand their sources of revenue.

“That call is very important. First things first, for people to come up with funds for a project there must be a very good base to it. All the variables of football must come on board. At the moment in Zimbabwe, we are playing social football. We can only talk about Nakamba, but where did he come from? From the grassroots, but nothing is happening at the grassroots. I will give you an example from a Zimbabwe Saints point of view, the little bit that we have we give to match officials instead of the players. The fundamentals are wrong, referees are supposed to be taken care of by ZIFA, PSL or the sports commission. That is why FIFA puts money into those associations but now there is nothing. The people put money and are our variables, but they will say where we are going,” said Veteran football administrator, Vincent Pamire.

This comes at a time when the traditional giants of Zimbabwean football Highlanders, Dynamos and CAPS United have been found wanting in terms of riding on their brands to widen their revenue streams. – ZBC News

First Black Mayor Of Corby Finishes His Term Pass On The Stick

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Three years ago the citizens of Corby gave councillor Tafadzwa Chikoto the great honor and opportunity to serve them as councillor deputy Mayor and Mayor.  On the 30th of May 2023 he gave the reigns of leadership to another councillor in a democratic manner as he thanked the Corby community and all of thise who allowed him this extended opportunity to serve Corby. He thanked them all for their exemplary citizenship that has allowed Corby to become a finer, more just, beautiful and livable town. Mayor Chikoto made history as he became the first black Mayor for Corby. His term was packed with drama and pomp. Surprisingly few Zimbabweans in Corby teamed up against Chikoto trying to bring him down. He was being accused for having met president ED MNANGAGWA when he visited Zimbabwe in one of his holidays.

The attitude of the Zimbabweans in UK who mostly belong to the opposition CCC was appalling and disappointing.
Through his perseverance Chikoto showed people that
the job of Mayor is a very personal one in that the responsibilities are not abstract or theoretical, but rather direct, specific and intimate – the responsibility for the safety of the community at home, at work, on the streets, for neighborhood parks to be safe, beautiful and active for children’s play, for garbage and trash to be neatly collected, neighborhoods peaceful and tidy, an economy bustling to benefit livelihood, a town growing in fiscal strength and fairness, the inspiration of the arts accessible to all, lovely and positive civic spaces. Chikoto Snr ought to Corby reasoned optimism for the future, to serve in times of crisis, and so much more.  Inspire of the detractors Councillor Chikoto served his town with diligence and serious commitment.
“It has been a historic & great honour serving as the first ever black Mayor of Corby Town.” Chikoto said.
Chikoto acknowledged the rich Corby community. He stated that he has met with a lot of extraordinary people within Corby celebrating together their achievements.
As his passion from the begining Chikoto as a mayor
managed to raise a lot of funds for his chosen Charities like Lakelands Hospice & Sure Start. He promised that his work for Charity will continue even after his term.

It was a great opportunity to advocate for young people in Corby through levelling up to get better access to health, education, apprenticeship and Jobs. Hikoto added
Attending The Corby Pole Fair was a momentous occasion and indeed a chance of a lifetime as it is only done once in 20 years. A short film was made to mark this historic occasion and this was archived and will be taken out a few years before in preparation for the next Pole Fair in 2044!
Moving on the former Mayor who is also passionate about opportunities and development for ordinary people will look into creating links and investment opportunities between UK & his home country Zimbabwe.
Mayor Chikoto said in attending to his responsibilities, has had the opportunity to hear from people their letters, emails, phone calls, at City Council meetings, meetings in his office neighborhood association meetings, civic organizations, or coming out of the grocery store or church, walking down the street and so many other encounters.  “In this process, a most wonderful thing happened to me.  Through those thousands of ways of communicating, I got to know you, feel and appreciate your goodness and get to understand your hearts’ wishes – and that has been a priceless treasure.  It has inspired me to work harder, to do more and do it better, and to never give up.  So in the totality of my work, it never became remote, was never a statistic or poll number, but was always personal, the happiness and well being of each of you, every citizen in our town” comment Councillor Chikoto.
“Through all of our encounters and communications, I also got to know your hearts; that is, what you would find most fulfilling, what would enrich your lives and the lives of your children, what would make you happy and proud of your Corby.
And then together we undertook to turn those aspirations into reality.  Whether it was seeking to make our town more just and welcoming for our African British brothers and sisters and achieving their full participation in our local government and community or whether it was making our city safer and more livable, Whether it was being named the UK’s most desirable destination or place to live.  Or whether it was attracting new, better jobs and creating businesses for our communities, these achievements we accomplished together.  Many became embroiled in controversy as Inwas battered left right and Center by my own people. I assure you all that those are losers who never want to see progress and development. I am proud of the majority of Corby people who had faith in me regardless of the onslaught. My collegues in the Council my mentor and those who worked in the background. I say thank you”. Councillor Chikoto added. But what kept me going, pushing, having the resolve not to give up was that I had gotten to know your hearts, and I knew that if the goal was achieved, the project or initiative completed, your hearts would be fulfilled and it would make you happy and proud to be a citizen of Corby.

Mayor Chikoto did Zimbabwe proud and did so much more.  He gave of himself in countless initiatives.  For a country in a democracy has the wonderful opportunity for citizens to form partnerships, create new institutions and programs, care for the poor and homeless, enhance our children’s education, protect open lands forever, strengthen health clinics and empower neighborhoods, assist senior citizens, mentor little children and much more by just being a Mayor thousands of miles away from home.
Despite detractors Chikoto showed that the freedom of a democracy does not produce a selfish people but rather it enhances the natural human instinct to be generous and help others. Many children and youths were helped by Chikoto and he opened doors for those who were closed out by colour bar.
Chikoto said his secret was that he was always guided by the standard of excellence.  “That is, we have the responsibility to seek excellence in everything we do.”
Mayor Chikoto showed that the long march for racial understanding and justice is not finished. But in addition to that we must do more and work harder to better understand, love, care for and respect each other.
But even though his time in the Mayor’s office and serving Corby will be over, the memories will never leave us they will nourish us every day of our lives.
Tafadzwa Chikoto did us proud He did Corby proud. And above all he is a true son of the soil he did Zimbabwe proud.

BREAKING: Qoki Expert Julie Condliffe Loses GBP56,000 Court Case

This is the Birmingham County Court where the Qoki Founder, Legal Expert, and Property Pro World Director, Julian Condliffe has been found liable in a lawsuit for selling property that doesn’t exist.

Julie Condliffe was reported to ZimEye in May 2020 in a development that unmasked her program as a syndicate the most prominent being the Qoki Zindlovukazi Investment Group that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has described as a fraud which diasporans must beware of. People who sell Zimbabwean farms are fraudsters, insists President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

While the first victim back in Zimbabwe, was refunded USD6,000 by Sithule Tshuma in 2021, today’s applicant, walks off with their full GBP56,000 being paid in full by the Qoki Founder, and Property Pro World owner Julie Condliffe.

Today’s is the first case ever in the UK, also now set to slap criminal charges on the Qoki/Property Pro World Directors just as they repay their victims, whether outside or inside prison.

Qoki/Julie Condliffe’s entrapment method uses the instalment lure as she and Qoki make their victims believe they will get real individual title deeds at the end of their monthly payments, all money they could have easily saved for themselves so they can buy the property outright on their own.

After the full amount has been reached, Qoki and Property Pro World will start throwing their victim from one office to the other, producing fake or invalid documents of assurance, and the process goes on for years until the victim has either passed on, or given up, or both. They are even told the only guarantee they’ll be given is not for their property, but for death, literally. [AUDIO-VIDEO]

“I think the guarantees that we have are that we will die.

“That’s the one guarantee that I know.”

Between today and the 18th June, victims of both Qoki and Property Pro World are now meeting to get the two scammers arrested in either UK or Zimbabwe, where they could easily flee.

What You Need To Know About Asthma

Key facts

Asthma is a major noncommunicable disease (NCD), affecting both children and adults, and is the most common chronic disease among children.

Inflammation and narrowing of the small airways in the lungs cause asthma symptoms, which can be any combination of cough, wheeze, shortness of breath and chest tightness.
Asthma affected an estimated 262 million people in 2019 (1) and caused 455 000 deaths.

Inhaled medication can control asthma symptoms and allow people with asthma to lead a normal, active life.
Avoiding asthma triggers can also help to reduce asthma symptoms.
Most asthma-related deaths occur in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where under-diagnosis and under-treatment is a challenge.

WHO is committed to improving the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of asthma to reduce the global burden of NCDs and make progress towards universal health coverage.

Overview
Asthma is a chronic lung disease affecting people of all ages. It is caused by inflammation and muscle tightening around the airways, which makes it harder to breathe.

Symptoms can include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. These symptoms can be mild or severe and can come and go over time.

Although asthma can be a serious condition, it can be managed with the right treatment. People with symptoms of asthma should speak to a health professional.

Impact
Asthma is often under-diagnosed and under-treated, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

People with under-treated asthma can suffer sleep disturbance, tiredness during the day, and poor concentration. Asthma sufferers and their families may miss school and work, with financial impact on the family and wider community. If symptoms are severe, people with asthma may need to receive emergency health care and they may be admitted to hospital for treatment and monitoring. In the most severe cases, asthma can lead to death.

Symptoms
Symptoms of asthma can vary from person to person. Symptoms sometimes get significantly worse. This is known as an asthma attack. Symptoms are often worse at night or during exercise.

Common symptoms of asthma include:

a persistent cough, especially at night
wheezing when exhaling and sometimes when inhaling
shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sometimes even when resting
chest tightness, making it difficult to breathe deeply.

Some people will have worse symptoms when they have a cold or during changes in the weather. Other triggers can include dust, smoke, fumes, grass and tree pollen, animal fur and feathers, strong soaps and perfume.

Symptoms can be caused by other conditions as well. People with symptoms should talk to a healthcare provider.

Causes
Many factors have been linked to an increased risk of developing asthma, although it is often difficult to find a single, direct cause.

Asthma is more likely if other family members also have asthma – particularly a close relative, such as a parent or sibling.
Asthma is more likely in people who have other allergic conditions, such as eczema and rhinitis (hay fever).

Urbanization is associated with increased asthma prevalence, probably due to multiple lifestyle factors.

Events in early life affect the developing lungs and can increase the risk of asthma. These include low birth weight, prematurity, exposure to tobacco smoke and other sources of air pollution, as well as viral respiratory infections.
Exposure to a range of environmental allergens and irritants are also thought to increase the risk of asthma, including indoor and outdoor air pollution, house dust mites, moulds, and occupational exposure to chemicals, fumes or dust.
Children and adults who are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of asthma.
Treatment
Asthma cannot be cured but there are several treatments available. The most common treatment is to use an inhaler, which delivers medication directly to the lungs.

Inhalers can help control the disease and enable people with asthma to enjoy a normal, active life.

There are two main types of inhaler:

bronchodilators (such as salbutamol), that open the air passages and relieve symptoms; and
steroids (such as beclometasone) that reduce inflammation in the air passages, which improves asthma symptoms and reduces the risk of severe asthma attacks and death.
People with asthma may need to use their inhaler every day. Their treatment will depend on the frequency of symptoms and the types of inhalers available.

Using an inhaler can be difficult, especially for children and during emergency situations. Using a spacer device makes it easier to use an aerosol inhaler. This helps the medicine to reach the lungs more easily. A spacer is a plastic container with a mouthpiece or mask at one end and a hole for the inhaler in the other. A homemade spacer, made from a 500ml plastic bottle, can be as effective as commercially manufactured spacers.

Access to inhalers is a problem in many countries. In 2021, bronchodilators were available in public primary health care facilities in half of low- and low-middle income countries, and steroid inhalers available in one third.

It is also important to raise community awareness to reduce the myths and stigma associated with asthma in some settings.

Self-care
People with asthma and their families need education to understand more about their asthma. This includes their treatment options, triggers to avoid, and how to manage their symptoms at home.

It is important for people with asthma to know how to increase their treatment when their symptoms are worsening to avoid a serious attack. Healthcare providers may give an asthma action plan to help people with asthma to take greater control of their treatment.

Good Sample Needs Effective Planning In Mining

X factors of mining “

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .

Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team .
Debt .

Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

We know FAZ is intimidating citizens in rural areas. FAZ sinister operations must stop with immediate effect.”

Mai Titi Blames Ex-Hubby For Leaked Nudes

Zimbabwean socialite Mai Titi, whose real name is Felistas Murata, has accused her ex-husband Tinashe Maphosa and her former friend of leaking her nudes.

In an interview with Chronicle, Mai Titi said she had no doubt that her ex-husband, (name supplied) and her former friend, (name supplied) were responsible for the leak.

She said she has since notified authorities in Zimbabwe and the United States of America of the cyber-bullying and revenge porn violation.

Revenge porn is revealing or sexually explicit images or videos of a person posted on the internet, typically by a former sexual partner, without the consent of the subject and in order to cause them distress or embarrassment.

Mai Titi’s former husband is reportedly based in the United States of America and was allegedly the one who sent the pictures and video to the comedian’s friend.

“The only person who had my nudes is my ex-husband who gave them to (name supplied).

“I’ve already reported them both in the countries they live in and here in Zimbabwe.

“I don’t have any relationship with her (former friend). I don’t know what she is fighting.

“Revenge (from ex-husband) because he knows he is never going to step in Zimbabwe due to the money he stole and I put him on the wanted list,” said Mai Titi.

The pictures, which show Mai Titi completely naked appear to have been shot off a video call.

Concern Over Govt Decision To Release Sex Offenders From Prisons

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) is greatly concerned by the government’s decision to release some inmates, who include convicted sexual offenders, from the country’s prisons under a presidential amnesty declared recently by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

On 12 May 2023, President Mnangagwa gazetted Clemency Order No. 1 of 2023, where he exercised his prerogative of mercy to release some offenders from some jails located across the country in a move hailed by Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services as aimed at reducing the prison population.

The Clemency Order gave amnesty to different categories of prisoners throughout Zimbabwe.

Section 12(d) of the Clemency Order provides that some prisoners were to be excluded from the proposed general amnesty, including any inmate convicted of committing any specified offence.

Section 13(c) of the Clemency Order provides that for the purpose of the amnesty: “specified offence” includes rape or any sexual offence.

However, in some sections of the same ‘Clemency Order’ President Mnangagwa’s Clemency Order provided exceptions, where inmates convicted of crimes that include rape and sexual offences would be granted amnesty.

Such exceptions included inmates aged 60 years old and above who would have effectively served one-tenth of their sentence to be released on amnesty.

ZLHR is shocked and disheartened that the release of sexual offenders significantly lowered the seriousness of sexual offences, considering that some of the sexual offenders were released having just served a tenth of their sentences.

Some of the sexual offenders being released after only serving prison terms of less than one year were quoted telling journalists during interviews that they had raped children as young as nine years old.

It is abhorrent that most of these inmates were released into the same communities, where they committed the crimes and where their victims still reside. These offenders have a high propensity to re-offend, and the consequences will be catastrophic for individual victims, the victims’ families and the community.

ZLHR also notes that according to Zimbabwe Republic Police, there has been an increase in domestic violence cases which has seen the law enforcement agency recording a spike in the number of murder cases throughout the country and yet authorities have the audacity to release some dangerous offenders from prison.

While the Constitution provides that the President exercises the power of mercy under section 112, section 90(2)(c) of the Constitution provides amongst the duties of the President that he/she must ensure the protection of the fundamental human rights and freedoms and the rule of law.

Among the fundamental rights that the President must protect is that every child in Zimbabwe must be protected from economic and sexual exploitation or any form of abuse.

The Constitution also provides that the child’s best interests is paramount in every matter concerning the child. The best interest of the child principle is also well articulated in the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the United Nations Convention on Children’s Rights. Zimbabwe has voluntarily ratified these human rights instruments and has obligations to fully implement. The decision to release child rapists is an affront to the protection of a girl child and to the best interest of the child principle.

The powers of clemency by the President and government are not exercised in isolation but are exercised with due regard to other duties imposed on the President by the Constitution, and these duties place an obligation on the President to protect fundamental human rights.

As such, releasing inmates convicted of child sexual offences offends the Constitution.

Over the years, ZLHR has been advocating for respect and protection of the rights of girls and women and has lauded the government for reforming laws on child marriages and consent.

However, all the progress made in advancing, protecting and safeguarding the rights of girls is eroded when decisions that seek to harm the girl child are made in haste without consideration of other constitutional imperatives.

In light of the current process to reform the law on sexual offences and calls to impose mandatory minimum sentence on rape, the decision to grant amnesty to sexual offenders is very retrogressive and an abomination.

Therefore, ZLHR calls upon President Mnangagwa and the government to carefully consider the decision to release child sexual offenders from prison, protect victims of rape and sexual assault and ensure that in matters relating to children, the best interests of the children concerned are always paramount. Victims of rape and communities should be protected from perpetrators through offenders serving their full-term sentences.

Mnangagwa Is Scared Of Me, Says Chamisa

Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa has said the continued delay by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to announce the election date clearly indicates that he is scared of losing the plebiscite.

Speaking yesterday immediately after checking for his name in the voters roll in Kuwadzana 2, Harare, Chamisa said his party was ready to roll over Mnangagwa, whom he accused of grabbing power through a 2017 military-assisted coup, and later rigging the 2018 poll.

He described Mnangagwa’s rule since 2017 as characterised by darkness and unhappiness.

“Mr Mnangagwa obviously has a problem with his legal team which is not advising him properly. I’m not sure if he has a date. I suspect that he is scared of this election. The truth of the matter is that the people of Zimbabwe know what they want, and there is going to be change in this country, he will try to manipulate, but the people of Zimbabwe will not allow it, we will not allow it because he has to follow the Constitution and it says it (election) has to be in August, but now the days are limited and we know that it has to be mid-or end of August so that we start planning,” Chamisa said.

Last week, Mnangagwa said he would announce the election date on Monday, but has gone mum over the issue with his spokesperson George Charamba telling State media on Monday that “the date would be announced in due course”.

Information deputy minister Kindness Paradza yesterday rubbished Chamisa’s claims saying Mnangagwa had no reason to be scared of elections.

“The President has never been scared of any election; this is why we are prepared as the ruling party. So far we have done away with the primaries and we have equipped our members for parliamentary candidates to make sure that we campaign vigorously and win resoundingly in these coming elections,” Paradza said.

“The President is within his constitutional boundaries in terms of announcing the election date which he is going to announce any day. His administration has done so well in the past five years such that he has nothing to worry about.”

Turning to the issue of whether or not CCC will boycott the upcoming elections, Chamisa said: “We will not boycott ourselves, we are the elections.”

“Our institutions such as Zec (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) must be able to be accountable to the people of Zimbabwe because all authority is derived from the people. I am happy that people are coming to check their names, but the only concern is that Mr Mnangagwa continues to duck and dive on election date.

“People have to plan, and those in the diaspora have to come back, while international investors have to plan around the election date. We also have to plan. We are not asdisorganised as Mr Mnangagwa. We want these dates known ahead of time, and it’s an issue that we continue to raise.”

Chamisa said the Constitution must be amended to ensure that people know the date, month and time for elections in advance so that they are able to plan ahead.

“We also have a problem with the voters roll itself, and our perennial challenge is that the voters roll must be a voters roll that people agree on and agree to. The voters roll must be audited, analysable, searchable and of course signed off by various political players and various stakeholders. Any voters roll that is not credible will not be acceptable. Zec must be ready, as it seems that they are not ready especially looking at the voters roll and that it is shambolic. This must be resolved urgently,” he said.

The CCC leader said his party had approached Zec to seek recourse, but was told that the electoral body would respond to their concerns in writing.

“Citizens have a right to recourse,” he said. “The voters roll must be known by all that are participating, and why would Zec want to change what people have indicated as their places or polling stations of voting? If we are to have a credible voters roll, people should be able to know where they will be voting.”

He also said electoral reforms were critical to ensuring an undisputed election outcome.

“People are being persecuted by Zanu-PF structures, by a shadowy and a spooky organisation called Faz (Forever Associates Zimbabwe) — that is worrisome. We want the government to come out in the open to say what this organisation called Faz is. We have the CIO, we know it, we have the army, we know the police and they have constitutional roles to make sure there is law and order in this country, but this Faz is an animal that is a big problem.”

Chamisa described Faz as a goblin tormenting people in rural areas, adding that Mnangagwa must be accountable for the illegally bringing in Faz.

“As a political party we will take all legal measures necessary to bring Faz to account,” he said.

Re Do The Voters Roll Inspection Exercise, ZEC Urged

Exiled former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo has urged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to redo the voters roll inspection exercise.

The exercise was previously scheduled for May 27-31, but extended to 1 June after a slow start due to logistical challenges.

Speaking in a Twitter space, Moyo said it was wrong and unfair for the electoral body to give voters only five days to inspect the list considering the process had a false start.

“The idea that ZEC extended to the 1st of June does not make any sense because at-least two or three days have already been lost totally so ZEC should not pretend that some good things have been happening up to this point but there is need for more time for those good things to continue happening.

“The exercise has had a false start which has compromised it. It does not require in my humble opinion an extension, it requires a redo.

“Now that everyone is alert, understands the importance of this, no one will die if  ZEC says we are starting the voter inspection exercise afresh from the 1st of June to the 6th of June, nobody will die, it will be a good public service,” Moyo said.

Moyo added: “It’s unfair and wrong for ZEC to allocate 5 days for this formal inspection process because ZEC knows that its delimitation exercise changed rapidly and dramatically in some cases the constituency and ward boundaries.

“The delimitation exercise has consequences on the boundaries which affect the polling stations and ZEC should have been alive to those consequences and not only given enough time but also alerted and advised people.”

Many prospective voters complained of a number of anomalies like their names missing from the voters roll and others displaced from their wards or residence.

New Details On Mai Titi’s Nudes Leaks

By-Comedian and socialite Mai Titi, has said that her former husband leaked her nudes, which went viral yesterday on her social media platforms.

Felistas Murata, said she was confident that was a violation and an act of “revenge” by her ex-husband, (name supplied) and her former friend, (name supplied).

Mai TT said she has since notified authorities in Zimbabwe and the United States of America of the cyber-bullying and revenge porn violation, as her ex-husband is reportedly in the US.
In an interview with Chronicle Showbiz, Mai TT said her former friend was given the nudes by her ex-husband and the two connived for the pictures and video to leak.
“The only person who had my nudes is my ex-husband who gave them to (name supplied). I’ve already reported them both in the countries they live in and here in Zimbabwe,” said Mai TT.
She said her ex-husband was driven by revenge and had no idea what her former friend’s interest was in leaking the nudes.
“I don’t have any relationship with her (former friend). I don’t know what she is fighting. Revenge (from ex-husband) because he knows he is never going to step in Zimbabwe due to the money he stole and I put him on the wanted list,” said Mai TT.
The nudes which show Mai TT completely naked seem like they were shot off a video call.
When news of the leak surfaced, Mai TT went live on Facebook earlier this morning with fans expecting her to address the nudes, but she instead advertised Father’s Day clothing for a boutique in Harare.
At first, she was combative saying people should get views up to 4 000 then she would address them and fans thought she was going to speak about leaked nudes. When the views went to 4 000, Mai TT spoke about the boutique, and at the end of the video, she seemingly made reference to the nudes saying: “Thank you for coming, at least you have seen things about suits and clothing. I don’t have time for silly stories. Life is too short for one to be looking for gossip. We’re looking for money and ways of living. Gossip is for the rich. If you have somebody’s stories, don’t hold them, release them,” she said.

Chadzamira Wife Joins ZEC

Outcry As Masvingo Resident Minister’s wife Euphrasia Muvengwa Chadzamira is part of ZEC inspection team

CCC’s Tachiona Mharadza Chiminya demands her to resign from ZEC because she is an interested person.

29 May 2023

Wezhira Munya

Masvingo Resident Minister Ezra Chadzamira’s wife , Euphrasia Muvengwa is currently working at ZEC as a voter inspection officer.

She has been deployed at Gatshime Hall, ward 5, Mashava.

She also works as teacher at Gathsmine primary school in Mashava.

Mashava area is in Masvingo West, where Masvingo Residents Minister Ezra Chadzamira is contesting as Zanu PF Member of Parliament.

Former Masvingo West Member of Parliament Tachiona Mharadza Chiminya, who is a CCC nominated senator said “Chadzamira’s wife must resign from ZEC because her husband is a contestant in the forthcoming harmonized elections. She may remove CCC members from the voters’ roll.”

Resident Minister Chadzamira is been accused of rigging Zanu PF primary elections.

In Masvingo, FAZ members are also camping at ZEC Voter registration offices, taking details of voters.

FAZ is an organization that was responsible for conducting Zanu PF primary elections.

Chiminya demands that, FAZ must vacate all ZEC voter inspection offices with immediate effect.

Also, nominated CCC Masvingo West member of parliament candidate, Mr Pedzisai Chifamba Gasva said, “The presence of Chadzamira’s wife at ZEC Voter inspection venue has caused serious outcry among CCC members. Chadzamira’s wife and FAZ members must not be allowed to be part of ZEC’s Voter inspection process. They are conflicted members as they support Chadzamira who is Zanu PF candidate.”

Mthuli Again Blames Industry for Currency Drop

The authorities will always be prepared to put measures in place to protect the transacting public, but currency manipulators and economic saboteurs will be lurking around looking for opportunities and loopholes to unjustly profit, said Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube last night.
He was speaking following the Cabinet meeting yesterday and shortly after the Treasury announced a number of interventions on Monday to maintain macroeconomic stability and preserve the purchasing power of the Zimbabwean currency.

Prof. Ncube responded to inquiries about why the government doesn’t enact more stringent laws or establish regulatory frameworks that completely shield the currency and economy once and for all, saying authorities understand that there will always be gaps in the system but that they will constantly be looking for ways to close them.

Political and economic observers have raised concerns about the timing of the ongoing assault on the Zimbabwean dollar.

Commentators claim that in an effort to startle the people ahead of this year’s general elections, regime change agents are using the Zimbabwe dollar as a tool to thwart infrastructure improvements and other economic triumphs that the government has recorded under President Mnangagwa.

“ . . . currency manipulators tend to work against Government policy (and) macro-economic policy ronouncements, this is true,” said Prof Ncube.

“That’s what they do. They always try to find loopholes to make sure that they can profit from any situation. Unfortunately, this is what we have to deal with as policy makers; we always try to respond.

“We have responded to those who have been found to be manipulating currency such as, for example, the Financial Intelligence Unit have frozen their accounts,” he said.

“If you look at the supply chain for most products . . . you then get the aggregators who then buy products from the producers and then on-sell to retailers.

“For most products retailers don’t buy directly from producers, they are middlemen. So we discovered that they were doing some currency manipulation working against Government policy and we froze their accounts. We have since recommended the Ministry of Industry and Commerce suspend their trading licenses.

“Maybe we should go further and say that retailers should now source their products directly from the manufacturers and not via these aggregators.

“We have had situations where we have shut down accounts for various other speculators and manipulators and we will continue to do so,” said Prof Ncube.

“One thing we are trying to tackle is this issue of money supply growth.”

On another note, acting Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, and Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Dr Jenfan Muswere said Cabinet considered and approved the National Migration Policy for Zimbabwe.

The policy aims to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks to derive maximum benefit from migration as well as aiding the socio-economic support systems of migrants and society.

It will develop a labour migration information system that will gather reliable and accurate data on labour migrants abroad by gender, profession, duration of stay, wages and salaries and working conditions.

It also aimed at including diasporans in the process of national development by developing a national migrant remittances framework and strengthening the capacity of Zimbabwe diplomatic missions to promote tourism.

“Cabinet noted that discrimination, xenophobia and racism are increasingly becoming issues of great concern to both sending, transit and receiving countries,” said Minister Muswere.

“Zimbabwe has already promulgated the Prevention of Discrimination Act which prohibits and criminalises discrimination.

“Therefore combating discrimination, xenophobia and racism is an essential element of a comprehensive national migration policy,” said Minister Muswere.

ZEC Shenanigans Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|The CCC youth taskforce has vowed to protect citizens victory in the coming polls.

CCC youth taskforce spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has slammed ZEC for ” going to bed with Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa.”

Writing on Twitter, Chuma said ZEC’s shenanigans have been exposed.

“We will never allow a sham election where Mnangagwa goes to bed with ZEC and be declared a winner.

It can’t! It’s unacceptable! We will take him head on! Protection of the vote starts now!”

ZEC Says: Mnangagwa Doesn’t Control Us

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has said that it is carrying out its duties autonomously and is confident in conducting fair elections since it has no fear of or preference for any political party.
The panel advised political participants to concentrate on depolarizing the election atmosphere rather than dramatising and sensationalising electoral processes to sow fear and despair before elections scheduled for August.

In order to allow the public to audit its procedures, ZEC claimed it opened the voter list for scrutiny. It also promised to address any potential anomalies.

During the voters roll check, opposition lawmakers claimed that their names were not on the list, but after further discussion with ZEC, they discovered that their names were in fact on the list.

Professor Welshman Ncube, a key member of the Citizen Coalition of Change (CCC), was one of the lawmakers who swiftly tweeted that their names weren’t on the voter list.

However, he received assistance and was informed of the precise polling place where his name would be cast upon visiting ZEC’s provincial offices.

voter education and voter information, it makes sure that those who are not ZEC, who are allowed by the law, civil society organisations, faith based organisations and other organisations, cannot go to the field without ZEC having approved their materials to make sure that their material is not biased and they are actually neutral.”

Mr Silaigwana said with regards to its operations there is no need for the public to make unfounded claims on how it prepares for polls.

“There is no need to over-dramatize some of these things and also sensationalise elections in our country. We all have the responsibility to build this country, we all need this stability and there is no need to be saying things that don’t exist. ZEC is truly independent,” said Mr Silaigwana.

He said political parties should work towards depolarising the election environment.

Mr Silaigwana said if the political landscape is not conducive some special interests’ groups may be forced not to participate in the polls.

“There is no need to cause alarm in our electoral processes. It is not necessary for alarmists to cause despondency in an election. Elections must be held in a peaceful environment. Elections belong to the ordinary people and the ordinary people must be protected by an environment,” said Mr Silaigwana

“We appeal to the political actors to create a conducive and peaceful environment so that our elections must be held where everyone wants to participate. If that does not happen people with disabilities, pregnant women and the old may not participate in the elections because they might think that the elections may become violent.”

He said the commission is ready to hold this year’s harmonised elections and is confident that Government will finance the holding of the polls

CCC Demands Electronic Voters Roll

The 29-year-old Warriors international quickly became a key player in the Luton squad and won the club’s Player of the Month for March, while also pushing his side to EPL promotion.

Speaking to Birmingham Mail newspaper, Nakamba said he is still waiting for communication from his parent club.

“I’ve not had any discussions with Unai yet,” he told the publication. “Villa have only just had their last game, and I have only just finished my season here.

“Only God knows the future, hopefully it’s for the best. I still have a contract there, I will just see.

“Now is the time to celebrate (Luton’s promotion) +, but I will wait for the phone call, or an email, from my agent or from Aston Villa.

“Wherever I am next season, God only knows, but I will just keep doing my best.”

Meanwhile, reports last week suggested that the Warriors international, along with other players, who left on loan in January, will be moved permanently at the end of the season.- Soccer24 News

The then minister of State for State Security, Lands And Land Reform, Didymus Mutasa Monday morning confirmed to ZimEye that Tshuma’s Qoki Investment business has been misleading investors by selling farmland under the promise that they have hopes in later privatising the farm land, as he added to president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s announcement that “it is unlawful in Zimbabwe to buy agricultural land…”

“I am not sure, but once a ruling has been made, it stays for a long time.”

He commented further stressing:

“It is now state land, whether the person who gazetted it is still minister or not, it’s gazetted, and it is state land.”

He further clarified saying farmlands are technically state land.

Parents Reject CALA

Stakeholders in Masvingo have urged the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to do away with the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) in the 2023-2030 curriculum.

The parents made the plea during a curriculum review consultation meeting at Better Schools Programmes of Zimbabwe (BSPZ) yesterday. The 2023-2030 curriculum will replace the 2015-2022 curriculum.

Government provincial heads of departments, Masvingo Provincial Education Director (PED) Shylatte Mhike and Director of Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Education Taungana Ndoro attended the meeting.

A parent, Joel Sibanda, said CALA only piles more pressure and work on pupils and recommended that the Ministry forgoes CALA in the new curriculum.

G40 King-Pin Loses US$52K To Robbers

By-One of G40 kingpins, Zanu PF central committee member, and Mutare businessman Esau Mupfumi reportedly lost US$52 000 to armed robbers at his Gold Class garage in Mutare city on Sunday night.

The aspiring Mutare Central parliamentary candidate in the upcoming polls confirmed Monday’s robbery.

He, however, could not give finer details of the matter saying police details were still attending to the scene.
“Yes there was an armed robbery yesterday at night at my Gold Class garage and I lost US$52 000. Investigations are on-going. I cannot comment any further as detectives are still investigating the matter,” Mupfumi said.
Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo also confirmed the armed robbery.
“Mupfumi was robbed, but I don’t have full details now as police detectives are still attending to the scene,” Muzondo said.
Mupfumi is into passenger transport business apart from being a politician.
Cases of armed robbery have been on the increase in the country and this has been blamed on unemployment amid a poorly-performing economy.
Mushikashika (pirate taxis) transport operators have also been accused of being used by armed robbers to steal from unsuspecting hikers.

ZEC Speaks On Deleted CCC Aides’ Names

By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has said that it would investigate the circumstances leading to the missing from voters’ roll of some opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party members.

His comes after CCC Monday wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) requesting a thorough investigation into anomalies found in the voters’ roll during the ongoing voters’ roll inspection exercise.

Voters across the country including sitting members of Parliament from the opposition say their names are missing from the voters’ roll.

Some of the registered voters whose names are missing from the voters’ roll voted in the March 2022 by-elections.

In a letter dated 29 May, addressed to ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba, CCC secretary for elections Ian Makone demanded investigations into the matter. Makone wrote:

We have noted serious anomalies in the voters’ roll that has been laid out for inspection by the public.

For example, in Ward 25 in the Gokwe Nembudziya constituency — all surnames starting from A to Mu are missing from the ward voters’ roll.

Registered voters who have been appearing on the biometric voters roll online inspection platform are suddenly missing their names from the current online platforms and the voters roll under inspection seems not to be synchronised with the new delimitation boundaries.

Resultantly, prospective voters have been displaced from their wards of residence.

Speaking to a local private daily Election Resource Centre (ERC) programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu said:

Two people who spoke to me from Buhera Central had their names transferred to centres that are 23km and 65km away.

The voters’ roll has been tampered with and cannot, therefore, be trusted to deliver a credible election in its current rushed format.

A credible voters’ roll is just but one of the critical components of ballot eligibility.

If its integrity is highly compromised like what we are seeing now, then the election is better off shelved.

It has remained a secret to the rest of Zimbabweans and its rotten state is now smelling.

Zimbabweans must decide if they want to continue with Zec’s dark and underhand dealings.

Contacted for comment by NewsDay, ZEC chief elections Officer Utoile Silaigwana said:

What I want you to understand is that the purpose of the inspection of the voters’ roll is to check if ever there are mistakes in terms of names etc, then if there is a query then that query should be registered so that it can be corrected.

In a related development, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to proclaim the election date in due course.

Stade media reports over the weekend had indicated that Mnangagwa would proclaim the election date on either Sunday or Monday but this did not happen.

Mai TT Leaks Nudes

By-Social media sensation Mai Tt (real name Felistas Murata) had social media on overdrive this morning after her nudes leaked and she is confident that the violation was an act of “revenge” by her ex-husband, (name supplied) and her former friend, (name supplied).
