By-One of G40 kingpins, Zanu PF central committee member, and Mutare businessman Esau Mupfumi reportedly lost US$52 000 to armed robbers at his Gold Class garage in Mutare city on Sunday night.
The aspiring Mutare Central parliamentary candidate in the upcoming polls confirmed Monday’s robbery.
He, however, could not give finer details of the matter saying police details were still attending to the scene. “Yes there was an armed robbery yesterday at night at my Gold Class garage and I lost US$52 000. Investigations are on-going. I cannot comment any further as detectives are still investigating the matter,” Mupfumi said. Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo also confirmed the armed robbery. “Mupfumi was robbed, but I don’t have full details now as police detectives are still attending to the scene,” Muzondo said. Mupfumi is into passenger transport business apart from being a politician. Cases of armed robbery have been on the increase in the country and this has been blamed on unemployment amid a poorly-performing economy. Mushikashika (pirate taxis) transport operators have also been accused of being used by armed robbers to steal from unsuspecting hikers.
By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has said that it would investigate the circumstances leading to the missing from voters’ roll of some opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party members.
His comes after CCC Monday wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) requesting a thorough investigation into anomalies found in the voters’ roll during the ongoing voters’ roll inspection exercise.
Voters across the country including sitting members of Parliament from the opposition say their names are missing from the voters’ roll.
Some of the registered voters whose names are missing from the voters’ roll voted in the March 2022 by-elections.
In a letter dated 29 May, addressed to ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba, CCC secretary for elections Ian Makone demanded investigations into the matter. Makone wrote:
We have noted serious anomalies in the voters’ roll that has been laid out for inspection by the public.
For example, in Ward 25 in the Gokwe Nembudziya constituency — all surnames starting from A to Mu are missing from the ward voters’ roll.
Registered voters who have been appearing on the biometric voters roll online inspection platform are suddenly missing their names from the current online platforms and the voters roll under inspection seems not to be synchronised with the new delimitation boundaries.
Resultantly, prospective voters have been displaced from their wards of residence.
Speaking to a local private daily Election Resource Centre (ERC) programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu said:
Two people who spoke to me from Buhera Central had their names transferred to centres that are 23km and 65km away.
The voters’ roll has been tampered with and cannot, therefore, be trusted to deliver a credible election in its current rushed format.
A credible voters’ roll is just but one of the critical components of ballot eligibility.
If its integrity is highly compromised like what we are seeing now, then the election is better off shelved.
It has remained a secret to the rest of Zimbabweans and its rotten state is now smelling.
Zimbabweans must decide if they want to continue with Zec’s dark and underhand dealings.

What I want you to understand is that the purpose of the inspection of the voters’ roll is to check if ever there are mistakes in terms of names etc, then if there is a query then that query should be registered so that it can be corrected.

Stade media reports over the weekend had indicated that Mnangagwa would proclaim the election date on either Sunday or Monday but this did not happen.
By-Social media sensation Mai Tt (real name Felistas Murata) had social media on overdrive this morning after her nudes leaked and she is confident that the violation was an act of “revenge” by her ex-husband, (name supplied) and her former friend, (name supplied).
Mai TT said she has since notified authorities in Zimbabwe and the United States of America of the cyber-bullying and revenge porn violation, as her ex-husband is reportedly in the US. In an interview with Chronicle Showbiz, Mai TT said her former friend was given the nudes by her ex-husband and the two connived for the pictures and video to leak. “The only person who had my nudes is my ex-husband who gave them to (name supplied). I’ve already reported them both in the countries they live in and here in Zimbabwe,” said Mai TT. She said her ex-husband was driven by revenge and had no idea what her former friend’s interest was in leaking the nudes. “I don’t have any relationship with her (former friend). I don’t know what she is fighting. Revenge (from ex-husband) because he knows he is never going to step in Zimbabwe due to the money he stole and I put him on the wanted list,” said Mai TT. The nudes which show Mai TT completely naked seem like they were shot off a video call. When news of the leak surfaced, Mai TT went live on Facebook earlier this morning with fans expecting her to address the nudes, but she instead advertised Father’s Day clothing for a boutique in Harare. At first, she was combative saying people should get views up to 4 000 then she would address them and fans thought she was going to speak about leaked nudes. When the views went to 4 000, Mai TT spoke about the boutique, and at the end of the video, she seemingly made reference to the nudes saying: “Thank you for coming, at least you have seen things about suits and clothing. I don’t have time for silly stories. Life is too short for one to be looking for gossip. We’re looking for money and ways of living. Gossip is for the rich. If you have somebody’s stories, don’t hold them, release them,” she said.

By- In a desperate bid to curb high inflation and ever-increasing prices of goods and services, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has announced additional measures to stabilize the country’s economy and the depreciating Zimbabwe dollar.
In a statement Monday, Ncube said the additional measures include increasing the retention of domestic foreign currency sales to 100%, lifting all restrictions on the importation of basic goods, promoting the use of domestic currency, and introducing a system to manage the traceability of gold.
Ncube added that the Government will also assume all foreign currency debts from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, create a debt redemption fund, and tighten monetary policy to reduce bank lending and money creation.
Additionally, the Government will continue to review civil servant salaries and allowances in line with these developments and policy measures. He added that the Government remains committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability, preserving the purchasing power of the Zimbabwe dollar, and restoring trust and confidence in the economy. We present the statement below:
STATEMENT ON POLICY MEASURES TO STABILISE THE ECONOMY
Introduction
1. Under the National Development Strategy 1, Government has made considerable progress in fostering domestic macroeconomic stability by implementing a broad range of fiscal and monetary stabilisation measures.
2. In order to continue on the macroeconomic stabilisation front, Government on the 21 of May 2023, introduced the following additional measures to curb the further depreciation of the local currency and increases in prices marked in domestic currency:
• Increasing the retention on domestic foreign currency sales to 100%- This has resulted in domestic businesses accessing more foreign currency from the market and this potentially translating into additional US dollar deposits in the banking system;
• Adoption of all external loans by Treasury- This process is well under way and will result in all external liabilities being funded transparently through the National Budget;
• Increasing Consumers’ Access to Basic Commodities- Lifting all restrictions on importation of basic goods which has promoted competition thereby resulting in a reduction in prices; and
• Promotion of use of domestic currency by Government Agencies which is expected to further increase the demand for the local currency.
Following on the decision for adoption by Treasury, conferring full responsibility on it, of repaying all foreign currency denominated loans contracted through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Government announces supportive measures as follows:
Government will implement the following measures as from 01 June 2023:
• Treasury will now fund the Zimbabwe Dollar component of the 25% foreign currency surrendered by exporters, in order to eliminate the creation of additional money supply. The foreign currency collected from the 25% that is surrendered, will now be collected by Treasury and utilised in servicing the foreign currency loans assumed from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. Banks will no longer withhold any foreign currency surrendered by exporters, and all the liabilities to the banks will be settled through Treasury.
• Introduce a 1% tax on all foreign payments.
• Maintain the USD Cash withdrawal tax at 2%.
• Through Fidelity Gold Refinery, introduce a system to manage traceability of gold from its origin, both commercial and small scale, in line with international standards.
• All excise duty on fuel will now be paid for in foreign currency.
3. In order to encourage banking of foreign currency, which is mainly in the informal sector, while promoting use of the local currency Government will:
• Reduce the local interbank foreign transactions IMT tax to 1% ;
• Reduce the POS IMT tax in foreign currency to 1%;
• Promotion of use of the domestic currency:
i. All Government Agencies including Parastatals will substantially now collect their fees in local currency;
ii. Payments to ZESA by non-exporters will be made in the local currency; and
ii. All Customs Duty to be payable in local currency, with the exception of designated or luxury goods. and where the importer opts to pay in foreign currency.
4. Treasury will assume all foreign currency debts from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe on 01 June 2023.
5. Government shall create a debt redemption fund to service other external liabilities in line with the arrears clearance program. These will be funded through new levies and other resource mobilisation initiatives.
Other Supportive Policy Measures for Immediate Implementation
6. The above will be supported by the following policy measures:
• All export proceeds that remain unutilised after 90 days will be liquidated onto the interbank market.
• The weekly auction will be limited to a maximum of US$5 million. • As from 1 June 2023, winning bids at the auction will be paid within 24 hours of award.
• All public foreign currency debts will be contracted by Government and will be the responsibility of Treasury.
• There will be tightening of monetary policy in order to reduce lending and hence money creation by banks.
• All manufacturers selling general goods, such as cement, milk, soft drinks, etc for the export market, will now be required to charge VAT, which is refundable by ZIMRA after exporting.
7. Government will continue to sterilise excess liquidity already injected into the economy through issuance of Treasury bills, whilst the Reserve Bank will also continue to sterilise through appropriate monetary policy tools.
8. With regards to externalisation of funds and transfer pricing, Government will strengthen surveillance and monitoring, complemented by a robust foreign currency payment system and information sharing system between financial institutions and ZIMRA.
9. Government will continue to review Civil Servants salaries and allowances in line with the above developments and policy measures, including increasing the threshold of the local currency IMT tax.
Conclusion
The assumption of the external obligations by Treasury and implementation of non-inflationary financing of the liabilities, coupled by sourcing of additional resources. will go a long way in reducing money supply growth and its impact on exchange rate depreciation and price increases.
Government remains firmly committed to the maintenance of macro-economic stability, the preservation of the purchasing power of the Zimbabwe dollar and the restoration of trust and confidence in the economy.
Marvelous Nakamba has talked about his future as his loan deal at Luton Town will officially end on June 30.
Nakamba joined the EPL-bound club on a six-month contract from Aston Villa.
The Zimbabwean midfielder used the loan spell in the Championship to rediscover his form after spending the first half of the just ended campaign frozen out at Villa.
The 29-year-old Warriors international quickly became a key player in the Luton squad and won the club’s Player of the Month for March, while also pushing his side to EPL promotion.
Speaking to Birmingham Mail newspaper, Nakamba said he is still waiting for communication from his parent club.
“I’ve not had any discussions with Unai yet,” he told the publication. “Villa have only just had their last game, and I have only just finished my season here.
“Only God knows the future, hopefully it’s for the best. I still have a contract there, I will just see.
“Now is the time to celebrate (Luton’s promotion) +, but I will wait for the phone call, or an email, from my agent or from Aston Villa.
“Wherever I am next season, God only knows, but I will just keep doing my best.”
Meanwhile, reports last week suggested that the Warriors international, along with other players, who left on loan in January, will be moved permanently at the end of the season.- Soccer24 News

After investigating the anomalies reported to us regarding the voters’ roll inspection process, we have made some preliminary findings, which include the following:
1️⃣The process appears to be polling station-based.
2️⃣If one goes to the wrong polling station, their name will not be on the voter’s roll.
3️⃣It is imperative that ZEC updates citizens on new polling stations and changes to avoid confusion.
4️⃣Urgent updates are necessary for the USSD system (#265) to reflect delimitation changes, transfers, and details for new voters.
5️⃣Physical inspection of the voters’ roll is more reliable as the electronic system is outdated.
6️⃣It seems as if the process is designed to frustrate citizens; however, it is crucial for citizens to take all necessary steps to inspect the roll before the deadline of May 31st, 2023.
7️⃣We expect better from ZEC.
8️⃣We are demanding that ZEC releases the electronic voters’ roll and conducts an independent audit of the same.
Asthma is a major noncommunicable disease (NCD), affecting both children and adults, and is the most common chronic disease among children.
Inflammation and narrowing of the small airways in the lungs cause asthma symptoms, which can be any combination of cough, wheeze, shortness of breath and chest tightness. Asthma affected an estimated 262 million people in 2019 (1) and caused 455 000 deaths.
Inhaled medication can control asthma symptoms and allow people with asthma to lead a normal, active life. Avoiding asthma triggers can also help to reduce asthma symptoms. Most asthma-related deaths occur in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where under-diagnosis and under-treatment is a challenge.
WHO is committed to improving the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of asthma to reduce the global burden of NCDs and make progress towards universal health coverage.
Overview Asthma is a chronic lung disease affecting people of all ages. It is caused by inflammation and muscle tightening around the airways, which makes it harder to breathe.
Symptoms can include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. These symptoms can be mild or severe and can come and go over time.
Although asthma can be a serious condition, it can be managed with the right treatment. People with symptoms of asthma should speak to a health professional.
Impact Asthma is often under-diagnosed and under-treated, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
People with under-treated asthma can suffer sleep disturbance, tiredness during the day, and poor concentration. Asthma sufferers and their families may miss school and work, with financial impact on the family and wider community. If symptoms are severe, people with asthma may need to receive emergency health care and they may be admitted to hospital for treatment and monitoring. In the most severe cases, asthma can lead to death.
Symptoms Symptoms of asthma can vary from person to person. Symptoms sometimes get significantly worse. This is known as an asthma attack. Symptoms are often worse at night or during exercise.
Common symptoms of asthma include:
a persistent cough, especially at night wheezing when exhaling and sometimes when inhaling shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sometimes even when resting chest tightness, making it difficult to breathe deeply.
Some people will have worse symptoms when they have a cold or during changes in the weather. Other triggers can include dust, smoke, fumes, grass and tree pollen, animal fur and feathers, strong soaps and perfume.
Symptoms can be caused by other conditions as well. People with symptoms should talk to a healthcare provider.
Causes Many factors have been linked to an increased risk of developing asthma, although it is often difficult to find a single, direct cause.
Asthma is more likely if other family members also have asthma – particularly a close relative, such as a parent or sibling. Asthma is more likely in people who have other allergic conditions, such as eczema and rhinitis (hay fever).
Urbanization is associated with increased asthma prevalence, probably due to multiple lifestyle factors.
Events in early life affect the developing lungs and can increase the risk of asthma. These include low birth weight, prematurity, exposure to tobacco smoke and other sources of air pollution, as well as viral respiratory infections. Exposure to a range of environmental allergens and irritants are also thought to increase the risk of asthma, including indoor and outdoor air pollution, house dust mites, moulds, and occupational exposure to chemicals, fumes or dust. Children and adults who are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of asthma. Treatment Asthma cannot be cured but there are several treatments available. The most common treatment is to use an inhaler, which delivers medication directly to the lungs.
Inhalers can help control the disease and enable people with asthma to enjoy a normal, active life.
There are two main types of inhaler:
bronchodilators (such as salbutamol), that open the air passages and relieve symptoms; and steroids (such as beclometasone) that reduce inflammation in the air passages, which improves asthma symptoms and reduces the risk of severe asthma attacks and death. People with asthma may need to use their inhaler every day. Their treatment will depend on the frequency of symptoms and the types of inhalers available.
Using an inhaler can be difficult, especially for children and during emergency situations. Using a spacer device makes it easier to use an aerosol inhaler. This helps the medicine to reach the lungs more easily. A spacer is a plastic container with a mouthpiece or mask at one end and a hole for the inhaler in the other. A homemade spacer, made from a 500ml plastic bottle, can be as effective as commercially manufactured spacers.
Access to inhalers is a problem in many countries. In 2021, bronchodilators were available in public primary health care facilities in half of low- and low-middle income countries, and steroid inhalers available in one third.
It is also important to raise community awareness to reduce the myths and stigma associated with asthma in some settings.
Self-care People with asthma and their families need education to understand more about their asthma. This includes their treatment options, triggers to avoid, and how to manage their symptoms at home.
It is important for people with asthma to know how to increase their treatment when their symptoms are worsening to avoid a serious attack. Healthcare providers may give an asthma action plan to help people with asthma to take greater control of their treatment.
Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .
Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.
Enjoy the ride . Three pillars of wholesome mining in order 1 strategic management 2 Debt 3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza
1 strategic management The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .
First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .
Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team . Debt .
Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .
On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.
Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .
Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post . 3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “ We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .
NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Scribes at Trevor Ncube’s newspaper group, AMH, have declared incapacitating according to the below statement by the Zimbabwe Union Of Journalists.-
STATEMENT: Reference is made to the above subject matter that journalists at Alpha Media Holdings, the biggest private media house in the country, have always shown a strong urge to execute their duties, as portrayed by their continued willingness to work and produce stories and content for the three publications — NewsDay, Zimbabwe Independent and The Standard — and digital platform.
In the past, even during the peak of the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic, we have gone the extra mile of going out of our way to make sure we produce content.
In that vein, we would like to highlight that our salaries have been heavily eroded by the ever-rising inflation, yet we are expected to continue producing content for the three publications and digital platforms.
That the salaries have been heavily eroded, we are finding it extremely difficult to afford to put decent meals on our tables, clothe ourselves and our families, pay for our rentals, worse even come to work on a daily basis. We are requesting that salaries be pegged in United States dollars or the equivalent on our contracts indexed to the official bank rate.
That we are failing to get transport on time to take us to diaries means we will fail to get the stories our readers would want to read.
That we are short-staffed undermines the quality of our work and it would be noble if management beefs up staff in the newsroom.
Being short-staffed meaning long working hours for staff that is already there, hence fatigue has creeped in, but we have always strived to come to work and produce tomorrow’s newspaper. In all that, one journalist is expected to write across all three publications, which is against their contracts.
All the above-mentioned challenges affect the quality of our work, yet we strive every day to reach international standards and be the “pinnacle of journalism” in the country.
Hence, we write to you expressing that we are heavily incapacitated to discharge our duties as Alpha Media Holdings journalists.
We also write to inform you that going forward, we will not be able to discharge our duties starting tomorrow May 30, 2023.
Yours faithfully
The Finance Minister is now acting less of a technocrat and more like a politician.

People had long believed that Ncube would revive Zimbabwe’s struggling economy, but he has sadly turned into a full-fledged Zanu PF politician and has abjectly failed to do so while still claiming to be an expert in economics.
Mthuli Ncube
This is the issue when people start following the Zanu PF hegemony and bootlicking, as reason begins to flee from them.
Mthuli Ncube has earned the title of political macho man and now spends most of his time campaigning and concentrating on winning a seat in parliament rather than addressing the country’s economic problems.
The nation is in the throes of an economic catastrophe, so forcing businesses to accept local currency while avoiding and purposefully ignoring the country’s economic fundamentals would not help the situation.
Entering a store, Ncube removed a sign that read “$USD only.” This type of political stance and grandstanding is brutal and akin to thuggish behaviour. Where does the Minister receive the authority to enact pricing changes?
Ncube must have the fortitude to inquire as to why companies are abandoning the local currency, which has long since lost any value.
Although all of the country’s fuel suppliers only accept payments in US dollars, they have never experienced this kind of nonsense.
Mthuli Ncube’s delusions will not budge the market, which is highly unyielding.
Price restraints are being gradually reinstated. The so-called second republic is nothing more than a sham that is a copy of Mugabe’s government. It’s amazing how quickly the nation is being forced to return to its original settings.
This Finance Minister has turned to hit-and-run economic initiatives, managed by command strategies adapted from the Shake Shake Building next to Rainbow Towers, in an effort to propel the country forward despite his inability to present a clear-cut economic plan.
This command economy will not function in any way. The country will be sucked into a severe black market as the period of price control returns with a bang. Mthuli is completely unaware of the underlying issues the company is having. He is now a law unto himself; taking down posters in a grocery store would not solve the issue; rather, it would make it worse.
Why does the government not charge anything for passports? Additionally, toll gates need payment in foreign currency. Seriously, all transactions within the borders of Zimbabwe should be made in ZWL or local money. It should also be against the law to transact in any foreign money.
At this point, the Finance Minister is acting unmanly. It’s unfortunate that Mthuli and his superiors are out of touch with current economic conditions. They are employing outdated military and guerrilla strategies that have essentially wrecked the country’s economy. Zimbabweans need to prepare for severe shortages. There won’t likely be any more items on the shelf that behave in this manner.
The finest present he can give Zimbabweans after his failed monetary strategy is to retire and call it a day.

By A Correspondent| The ongoing Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) voters roll inspection exercise has exposed major anomalies, with many people, including prominent opposition politicians, unable to locate their names on the roll.
The exercise started on Saturday and ends tomorrow.
Several opposition leaders, including Bulawayo Central proportional representation Member of Parliament Jasmine Toffa (CCC), had their names missing on the voters roll.
Toffa told NewsDay that she was surprised that her name had been removed from the voters roll.
“Two weeks ago, I dialled *264# to check my name and it reflected. I took a screenshot and kept it. Yesterday I decided to check again and I saw that my name was no longer there. I went to do a physical check and my name was not there. I found a number of people queuing there who had the same challenges. Zec officials said they are facing technical difficulties, and I don’t understand how something that is on the computer does not print out on a hard copy,” Toffa said.
She said another Bulawayo proportional representation legislator Nicola Watson’s name was also missing.
“Bulawayo councillor Edwin Ndlovu’s name was also missing. This is unacceptable as the magnitude of error is extremely high. Most people don’t even know where to check their names,” she said.
An opposition CCC member in Victoria Falls, Ephias Mambume said he registered and voted in 2018, but yesterday he could not find his name on the voters roll.
“I am aware that this is not an isolated case, this is scientific rigging in process,” Mambume told NewsDay.
A Bulawayo resident, who preferred anonymity said he found out that he was suddenly transferred from Nketa constituency to Nkulumane, which is a different ward.
Journalist Zenzele Ndebele also said he could not locate his name.
“I have checked my name and can confirm that it is not on the voters roll. And the four guys who came when I was there were also not on the voters roll,” Ndebele tweeted.
In a letter dated May 29, addressed to Zec chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba, CCC secretary for elections Ian Makone demanded thorough investigations into the matter and to ensure that all eligible voters names reflect on the voters’ roll to enable them to vote in the August polls.
“We have noted serious anomalies in the voters roll that has been laid out for inspection by the public,” Makone said.
He said the main issues arising from the preliminary reports include missing names of prospective voters, some of whom voted in the 2018 elections, and others as recent as the March 2022 by-elections.
“For example, ward 25 in Gokwe Nembudziya constituency — all surnames starting from A to Mu are missing from the ward voters roll. Registered voters who have been appearing on the biometric voters roll online inspection platform are suddenly missing their names from the current online platforms and the voters roll under inspection seems not to be synchronised with the new delimitation boundaries. Resultantly, prospective voters have been displaced from their wards of residence,” Makone said.
Election Resource Centre (ERC) programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu said: “Two people who spoke to me from Buhera Central had their names transferred to centres that are 23km and 65km away. The voters roll has been tampered with and cannot, therefore, be trusted to deliver a credible election in its current rushed format. A credible voters roll is just but one of the critical components of ballot eligibility. If its integrity is highly compromised like what we are seeing now, then the election is better off shelved.”
Bobosibunu said there should be no compromise on the voters roll.
“It has remained a secret to the rest of Zimbabweans and its rotten state is now smelling. Zimbabweans must decide if they want to continue with Zec’s dark and underhand dealings,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Zec chief elections Officer Utoile Silaigwana said: “What I want you to understand is that the purpose of the inspection of the voters roll is to check if ever there are mistakes in terms of names etc, then if there is a query then that query should be registered so that it can be corrected.”
By A Correspondent| Four University of Zimbabwe students were remanded in custody on May 30, 2023, after they were arrested for protesting the continued incarceration of Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala.
The students, Emmanuel Sitima, Comfort Ncekuyenkosi Mpofu, Tawanda Benjamin Watadza, and Lionel Andrew Madamombe, were appearing before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye facing a charge of defacing buildings in Harare by writing messages demanding Sikhala’s release.
They were being represented by human rights lawyer Darlington Marange.
Allegations are that on May 15, 2023, the quartet was among 30 youths who took part in a protest holding placards, some inscribed #FreeWiwa, #FreeJacob and #BlackMonday.
The State alleges that the youths were singing and denouncing the Zanu-PF government, accusing it of persecuting the opposition politician. They are accused of defacing the Parliament, High Court, Trinity Methodist Church and Constitutional Court buildings in central Harare.
The State prosecutor failed to show up in court, and the magistrate remanded the students in custody to June 1.
The students’ arrest has sparked outrage from human rights groups, who have accused the government of using repressive tactics to silence dissent.

According to The Southern Eye, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members in Binga South have accused Chief Sinamagonde of threatening them with unspecified action if they attend meetings convened by the opposition party’s parliamentary candidate Fanuel Cumanzala.
However, the traditional leader has denied the allegations.
It seems that tension between Zanu-PF and opposition CCC members in the province appears to be rising as the country heads for the polls.
Some villagers are facing challenges with Sinamagonde who was installed by Zanu-PF against the people’s will in early March 2023. People are being intimidated by this chief who collaborates with some village heads. He is currently targeting CCC supporters.
CCC member Enock Mugande Nakaluba of ward 4 said Chief Sinamagonde was organising Zanu-PF party meetings which are attended by village heads and their secretaries.
“He has told village heads to make sure that their subjects join party cells. The community has been told that there will be machines monitoring voters, and that anyone who will not vote for Zanu-PF will be detected by those machines,” Mugande said.
By-Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dragged his feet on the proclamation of the national elections date.
Mnangagwa had Saturday promised to announce the date on Sunday.
But his spin doctor, George Charamba, Monday said the polls holding date would be announced soon.
“The election proclamation is going to be announced in due course. That is all I can say at the moment,” said Mr Charamba. The country is headed for harmonised elections to elect the President, MPs and councillors. The ruling party Zanu PF has already held primaries to elect candidates for the elections while the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) which has announced that it’s not holding primaries, is yet to complete its nomination process despite starting the exercise nearly two months ago. President Mnangagwa has called on Zimbabweans to refrain from engaging in violence before, during and after the harmonised elections. -Herald
By-The President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni, has approved a new anti-homosexuality legislation.
President Museveni signed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill into law after parliament watered it down.
It is still among the harshest anti-LGBTQ laws in the world.
Homosexual acts are already illegal in Uganda but now anyone convicted faces life imprisonment.
The legislation imposes the death penalty for so-called aggravated cases, which include having gay sex with someone below the age of 18 or where someone is infected with a life-long illness including HIV.
In a joint statement, three of the world’s leading health campaign groups – the US President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (Pepfar), UNAids and the Global Fund – said they were deeply concerned about the “harmful impact” of the legislation.
“Uganda’s progress on its HIV response is now in grave jeopardy,” the statement said.
“The stigma and discrimination associated with the passage of the Act has already led to reduced access to prevention as well as treatment services,” it added.
The legislation has also been condemned by Ugandan campaign groups, which have instituted court action to annul the legislation on the grounds that it is discriminatory and it violates the rights of LGBTQ+ people.
A similar law was struck down by Uganda’s constitutional court in 2014.
Ugandan rights activist Clare Byarugaba said it was “a very dark and sad day” for the LGBTQ+ community, and all Ugandans, Reuters news agency reported.
“The Ugandan president has today legalised state-sponsored homophobia and transphobia,” the activist added.
Parliamentary speaker Anita Among welcomed Mr Museveni’s decision to sign the bill into law, saying it will “protect the sanctity of the family”.
“We have stood strong to defend the culture, values and aspirations of our people,” she added in a statement posted to Twitter.
The bill’s sponsor, lawmaker Asuman Basalirwa, told reporters that the US had cancelled a visa issued to the speaker, making her the first official to face punitive action over the new law.
The US embassy in Uganda has not yet commented.
The bill was passed in parliament earlier this month, with only one MP opposing it.
The US has previously warned Uganda of possible economic “repercussions” if the legislation came into force.
The US is a major trading partner of Uganda. The East African nation benefits from the African Growth and Opportunity Act, which gives it easier access to lucrative US markets.
The US, UNAids and The Global Fund have also played a major role in backing Uganda’s long-standing efforts to curb HIV/Aids.
By 2021, 89% of people living with HIV in Uganda knew their status, more than 92% of them were receiving antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of those on treatment were virally suppressed, they said in their statement.
“Together as one, we call for the Act to be reconsidered so that Uganda may continue on its path to ensure equitable access to health services and end Aids as a public health threat by 2030,” the statement said.
Residents of Harare’s high-density suburb of Hopley have received a shot in the arm through the Health Ambassadors for Economic Development medical outreach programme.
For the residents, both the elderly and the young, the gesture is more than welcome as many had ailments that needed attention.
“I have had stomach cramps for months, but was procrastinating on coming to the hospital but when I heard there was an outreach I had to come here,” said a beneficiary.
Another said, “My grandson injured his leg and I thought it was just a sprain, but when the leg started swelling I panicked and came here only to be told everyone is being done for free.”
“I am grateful to the President for this initiative of availing free medical services. Hopley faces many challenges but we are grateful,” added another.- ZBC News

Mthuli said his targets were responsible for fuelling price increases.
He said the government would blacklist and fine companies and withdraw licences if necessary.
During an impromptu tour of Bulawayo’s central business district, Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister, Mthuli Ncube, expressed concern over rising living costs and “unjustifiable” price hikes of basic commodities.
He accused big businesses and retailers of collaborating with illegal money changers and called for ethical business practices to be reinstated. Addressing a manager at a Supermarket located on Fort Street, Prof Ncube said:
We want to send a message to your bosses. We are saying that they must stop these price hikes, which are totally unjustifiable. I am saying this because the next time we ask you to close and withdraw your licence, you will be out of a job and so will a lot of other people. Then the Government will be blamed for shutting down businesses when this is the only way because their behaviour is not proper.
Have you heard of the word schadenfreude? It is a German word that means taking delight from the misery of others. In English, they call it epicaricacy. That is what you’re practising. It is not good.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail after the tour, the Minister stated that the government will soon clamp down on businesses that work with illegal money changers.
Ncube expressed concern over the rising cost of living and unjustifiable price increases, blaming big businesses and retailers for conniving with foreign currency traders.
The Minister warned that any shop refusing domestic currency and only accepting US dollars would have its license withdrawn.

In his chambers, Justice George Chiweshe denied the State’s request to change the appeal’s grounds, citing the State’s lack of chances of success.
The High Court ruling made by Justice Pisirayi Kwenda earlier in the year was maintained by a full bench last year, which included Justice Susan Mavangira sitting alongside Justice Lavender Makoni and Justice Joseph Musakwa.
This puts an end to the protracted conflict between the State and the former Police Commissioner General.
Attorney Addington Chinake represented Chihuri, and Chief Law Officer Chris Mutangadura, head of the assets forfeiture unit, represented the State.
Struggling Harare giants Dynamos’ woes continue, after they surrendered a first half lead to eventually lose 1-2 to Ngezi Platinum Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at the Baobab Stadium today.
Herbert Maruwa’s charges headed into the clash on the back of a four-game winless run, which saw them fail to score in over six hours of football.
DeMbare nearly took the lead in the third minute when Nyasha Chintuli went past his marker on the right flank and released Authur Musiyiwa, whose weak shot at goal was easily collected by Nelson Chadya —in goal for Ngezi.
Nigel Mukumbe nearly fired Ngezi ahead a minute later, when his curling effort was well-saved by Dynamos goalkeeper Taimon Mvula.
Makumbe tried his luck from outside the box in the 19th minute but skied his effort way over the crossbar.
Dynamos were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box five minutes after, when Gareth Madhake fouled Tendai Matindife and Issa Sadiki curled in a beautiful delivery in the box, which was missed by Donald Mudadi at full stretch.
Dynamos attempted to break on the counter in the 35th minute, when Chintuli released Matindife, who went down in the box but was booked by the referee for similation.
DeMbare finally broke the deadlock a minute before the half time break when Donald Mudadi’s well-taken strike found the top corner, for Dynamos’ first goal at the Baobab since 2017.
Chadya almost gifted Dynamos the second goal when he intially failed to collect Elvis Moyo’s corner kick but recovered well to avert danger.
Mudadi’s goal was the difference between the two sides at the half time interval.
Madamburo came back for the second half determined to level matters and did so four minutes after the restart when Takunda Benhura headed home Polite Moyo’s corner kick.
Benhura almost turned it around for Ngezi in the 53rd minute but his snap shot missed the target by inches.
Dynamos made a double substitution in the 56th minute when Denver Mukamba and Junior Makunike came in for Matindife and Musiyiwa.
Madamburo were smelling blood and almost took the lead in the 58th minute, when Valentine Kadonzvo beat two defenders in the box, unleashed a scorcher, which crashed against the underside of the crossbar.
Takesure Chiragwi made a double substitution in the 70th minute when he brought on Qadr Amin and Claude Mapoka for Murasiranwa and Walter Vuwa.
The change paid dividends, as Amin completed the turnaround for Ngezi in the 75th minute when his cross somehow beat a badly-positioned Taimon Mvula.
Mvula, who was having bad day in goal, fumbled a corner kick from Amin with six minutes of regulation time left, but recovered well to collect before Kadonzvo pounced.
Dynamos almost restored parity in the 85th minute when Ilunga found Mukamba in the box, and the latter’s shot was tipped over the bar by Chadya.
Madamburo held on and returned to winning ways after last week’s defeat to Chicken Inn. Dynamos suffered a title race blow following a 1-0 loss to Ngezi Platinum Stars in Sunday’s Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 28 encounter played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare. A Harare man has appeared in court after fooling the public into believing he was Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s assistant.
When Loyd Mutotote appeared before Harare magistrate Mr. Dennis Mangosi, he was charged with impersonation and physical abuse.
The Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) general employee Mutotote pretended to be an intelligence detail from February to May of this year by claiming to be Vice President Chiwenga’s brother and working in his office as a close aide who attends to the VP’s official and personal events.
The prosecution’s argument is that he reportedly beat his wife with open hands all over her body and brandished a gun at her head on an unspecified day.
Instead of yesterday as had been originally indicated in the media, Emmerson Mnangagwa is anticipated to announce the election date in due course. In a brief interview with the state media last night, Mr. George Charamba, the presidential spokesperson, said this.
“The election proclamation is going to be announced in due course. That is all I can say at the moment,” said Mr Charamba. The president, members of parliament, and council members will be chosen in a coordinated election process.
CALL TO DUTY: To ensure a fair democratic process during the upcoming election, President @nelsonchamisa has appealed to citizens to inspect the voters’ roll.
The inspection period continues today, and it will last until May 31st, 2023.

By- A Mbare-based catholic priest, Emmanuel Gurumombe, has reported his nephew, Stephen Kimbini, to the police for extortion after he threatened to release pictures of him in compromising homosexual positions.
Gurumombe is of St Peter’s Church Mbare.
Kimbini allegedly told Gurumombe that police in Nyabira had concocted pictures of them in homosexual positions, and demanded money to prevent their release on social media.
Gurumombe paid Kimbini US$40 000 on various occasions between June last year and this month. Allegations are that in June last year, Kimbini set a plot in motion to extort his uncle and told him about the alleged police threats. Kimbini told the priest that he was passing on the money to the cops. Gurumombe delivered the money to his nephew through one David Maloya. When Kimbini demanded US$1 500 from Gurumombe threatening to sell the pictures to social media bloggers on Friday last week, Gurumombe reported him to the police. A trap was set and Gurumombe phoned Maloya, who came with Kimbini, and he was arrested. Kimbini is facing extortion charges.
By-CCC deputy President Welshman Ncube, has reported that his name is missing from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s voters’ roll.
In a Twitter post seen by Pindula News, Ncube said he said visited multiple inspection centers within his ward and found that his name did not appear on any of them. Hillside Primary School referred him to Windsor Park and the Provincial office for further checks. He posted:
This morning I went to the other inspection centres within ward 4 in the neighbourhood of my residence to check if my name had been moved to those polling stations. My name didn’t appear at any of them. Hillside Primary School referred me to Windsor Park, the Provincial office.
The voters’ roll inspection exercise took off on Saturday allowing the electorate to check if their names were in the roll ahead of this year’s harmonised elections scheduled for August.
Prospective voters need to complete and submit a voter registration form with the necessary documentation to the ZEC. The documentation usually required may include a national ID or passport, proof of residence and proof of citizenship. Once the application is processed and approved, their name will be added to the voters’ roll, and they will be eligible to vote in the upcoming elections.
Government critics have alleged that ZEC plans to use the flawed voters’ roll to manipulate election results in favour of the ruling party, ZANU PF. The voters’ roll has been a contentious issue in Zimbabwean politics, with concerns raised about its accuracy, completeness, and transparency.
Some opposition parties and civil society groups have accused the ZEC of deliberately excluding eligible voters from the roll while allowing ineligible voters to register or keeping dead people known as “ghost voters” in the roll. The flawed voters’ roll has raised fears of possible election rigging, particularly since elections in Zimbabwe have been marred by allegations of irregularities and manipulation in the past.
The ZEC has denied these allegations and has insisted that the voters’ roll is still being processed, therefore some details may be missing.
As last week 24th May marked one year since the murder of CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali, her family told ZimEye, in the face of govt pressure, she will not be buried until her lawyer Job Sikhala is released. (Below is the investigation that led to her remains’ discovery)
By ZimEye Correspondent | 6 JUN 2022 The sun is shining bright, though temperatures are winter low, and we are on a long search for Moreblessing Ali, a 46y old CCC party activist who was kidnapped on 24th May 2022 after 8pm by named ZANU PF activists in the Nyatsime area.
The incident according witnesses, happened at the Chibhanguza Night Club, where Moreblessing Ali was assaulted and then dragged into the nearby bush. She is missing for nearly 2 weeks to date.
By this time, ZANU PF Spokesperson Simba Chisango has claimed to ZimEye saying he ‘knows’ that Moreblessing Ali us alive:

As a ZANU PF leader, what have you done?, asks Simba Chikanza – "I know that this person is alive, there is information….," says ZANU PF leaderhttps://t.co/UTAeiCRM27
Upon entering the Nyatsime area, the atmosphere changes. The air is thick full of fear, people are barely talking especially with strangers, and rarely walking around as usual. We pass through Chibhanguza Night Club on the way to ZANU PF Chairperson Simba Chisango’s home.
Getting into the street, ZimEye notices several children being chased off and being threatened with violence, an incident so frightening that we can’t film it. “Where are you going?- Murikuenda kupiko?,” a group of emotionally charged unidentified men ask them before picking up stones to assault the vulnerable minors so to ward them off Chisango’s house. What is inside this shackhouse that is so protected and even harmless kids should not see?
Talking to several people, the conclusion is- tension and angers are rising over Moreblessing Ali’s forced disappearance.
There are two vehicles, a green Toyota Altezza, and a dark grey Nissan Xtrail (3 police officers, one of them one holding an AK rifle). We manage to get at least number plates of the Toyota Altezza: AEH8372. The Nissan Xtrail belongs to a uniformed police officer. Even though we fail to get finer details, it is visually clear that the several men inside the vehicles are closely guarding Mr Simba Chisango.
When he walks around, he moves with a vigilante of predominantly youths, numbering more than 10.
His property (drone video), at the left side, has a combined red and green roof.
Drone footage at the property Moreblessing couldeasily be housed, shows Chisango’s home as a quiet, red and green-mix roofing, surrounded by other squatter houses, with no numbers as they are an informal settlement granted by the ruling ZANU PF. VIDEO LOADING BELOW
Drone footage captures people walking around, but due to the security fears, movements are so minimal, you can easily count the number of people pacing around. We spot just 20 people walking slowly in a large area of more than 800 houses, built without planning permission but under a ZANU PF program lyrically termed in a party song: ZANU PF yakasimba kumaSero- (ZANU PF is strong from cell level.), and this is a Build up to the 2023 election as people are parcelled non regulated land which they will lose if they vote for the opposition.
In the small cachement area where Simba Chisango lives, we see during the period, no one daring to transverse or even encroach his gateway. Is this a coincidence, or this is the work of State agents?
Later on, we spot two vehicles, the Toyota Altezza and a Nissan Xtrail, full of men we obtain, are protecting Simba Chisango.
Our international news desk team calls Mr Simba Chisango once again, this time via phone. The phone is picked up by a woman who says she is his wife. He briefly answers, before putting the phone down after realising he is talking to the media, somewhat avoiding his previous contradictory statements in the 20 min interview on 30 May 2022 (VIDEO BELOW), when he said he only got to know of Moreblessing Ali’s disappearance in social media, but would in less than 2 minutes, shift to the opposite as he began sahing that he first obtained information on Moreblessing Ali’s disappearance right on the ground at Chibhanguza (not from social media as earlier said).
Where is Moreblessing Ali?, he was asked, to which he said, “I am only hearing about this story on social media, you hear?”
“I am just hearing it on social media, come to area and investigate if you want us to agree. Isn’t it?”
The conversation continues as follows-
So, you are telling me you don’t know anything about Moreblessing Ali?
“Me?, she is someone I know- Moreblessing Ali who works in Chitungwiza, in Unit B, she is someone I knew, and is now staying in Nyatsime.”
Why are you using past tense?
“I am meaning where she was staying in Unit B. I was staying in H. Right, from there, she was staying there, until she started living here in Nyatsime, that’s what I know, such that, the information you are asking me about I heard it at the Chibhanguza area, that’s where I hear some commotion happened there, this and that happened, that’s what I heard.”
So you, what have you done, as a ZANU PF leader in the area, so that Moreblessing is found?
“I think we even did some investigations with police, we got into the area, this and that, but, aaah, I know that the person is alive. Isn’t it? Are you hearing?”
“There is no way she would just disappear, the information which I hear, that the people she clashed with, one of them sped off while holding a catapult, after a gun had been pulled out. This is the information, the other one I actually got it today (sic). I am struggling to establish what really happened.”
After this, Simba Chisango names the man now implicated in a police report, and acknowledges that Pius Jamba (the man accused of assaulting Moreblessing Ali and dragging her into the nearby bush, is his cousin.
“Listen Comrade, let me explain to you what’s making my name to come out… there is a young man by name, Pius Jamba, he is the son from my mother’s side, but when people see him, they say he is a Chisango. Right so, from that word, the Chisango who is being talked about is me, a senior in the ZANU PF party, people will be saying he is Chisango’s young brother…”
Chisango is then asked: since your relative is involved in kidnapping Moreblessing, what can you do today for us to find Moreblessing? He replies:
“Now, me now, that question you’re asking me on what to do to find Moreblesssing; I don’t have any reply, because I am just another person confused on this person who is said to be missing.
The young man himself is missing, Moreblessing is missing, the other young man from Mbuya Mhatsva is also missing. If it had been that there is at least one person who is visible, we would then ask that person where the others are,” he says.
But then this young man is your family, so what can you do Mr Chisango?
“Yes, that’s what I am saying I won’t deny him, one can’t reject their relative because they have committed a crime; if he is my relative he will meet his own stories. Do you hear me well, Comrade?”
To this, Simba Chikanza demands what Chisango will do to find Moreblessing, and the conversation continues for the remaining, over 14 minutes.
The police, having been previously quiet for over 5 days, suddenly, soon after this interview, produce a report that agrees with everything Chisango has said in the interview; but the ZRP report which states that the ZANU PF official, Chisango is not involved, fails to mention that the accused is Jamba’s cousin.
The police report also claims Moreblessing (46) was kidnapped following a love affair scuffle with a Pius Jamba who is the age of her own son (25). Moreblessing Ali’s family dismisses the report as “ridiculous.” How could Moreblessing date someone as young as her first born son?, her brother Washington says to ZimEye.
Zengeza MP Job Sikhala also tells ZimEye in an interview, “this Simba Chisango, his brother and their group are known for running terror operations in the whole area.”
A day later, an anonymous message is delivered at Zengeza MP, Job Sikhala’s doorstep, on a piece of paper which says that Chisango is clearly involved in the abduction. It states in Shona as follows:
“-Vakamutsakatisa mukadzi uyu [THEY MADE THIS WOMAN DISAPPEAR] -Vanhu vacho vanoti Chisango, brother yake, mukadzi wake, Liberty Mondiwa nevamwe vacho [PEOPLE INVOLVED ARE CHISANGO, HIS BROTHER, HIS WIFE, LIBERTY MONDIWA AND OTHERS] -Munhu uyu vaimupomera mhosva ye kuti mutsigiri we CCC [THEY WERE BLAMING HER FOR BEING A CCC ACTIVIST] -Zvinhu izvi zvinoratidza kuti Chibhanguza urimo munyaya. [THIS SHOWS THAT CHIBANGUZA IS INVOLVED] -Ini ndakarowa mwedzi wapera wa April ndichipomerwa mhosva yokutsigira CCC [I WAS ASSAULTED LAST WEEK FOR SUPPORTING CCC] -Ndapona mupaburi retsono. Ndine mazino matatu ari kuzungunuka.
[I SURVIVED BY A WHISKER, 3 OF MY TEETH ARE CRACKLING]
-Mapurisa yeku Beatrice akauya nezuro kuzotora nyaya.” [BEATRICE POLICE CAME YESTERDAY TO INVESTIGATE]”
Contacted on the Monday 6th June 2022, a woman believed to be Chisango’s wife who picks up the phone, emotionally screams out, asking: “Who are you and what do you want? Why do you keep calling this phone?” VIDEO LOADING BELOW…
Opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa’s CCC party has produced a report saying: ‘the Police has revealed that the chief suspect, Pius Jamba, is also on the run for other criminal offences. According to information in the possession of the CCC investigation team, Jambo is allegedly facing charges of murder and fraud. Today, further investigations have revealed that chief suspect, Jambo, is in hiding in Hurungwe.
A team has been dispatched to conduct a further search for him there while the investigation into the whereabouts of Moreblessing Ali continue.’
On the 6th June 2022, ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza telephones Mr. Simba Chisango and reiterates the message to him:
Morning Mr Chisango… I’m sure you’re already aware you’re under 24/7 surveillance over the kidnapping of Moreblessing Ali. You’re already aware this is an international criminal prosecution case now, meaning you will be arrested in several countries upon arriving in nations such as Zambia, South Africa,UK, Australia, US, and others. You have an opportunity to talk to me and clear up the huge discrepancies in what you said in the interview.
Simba Chikanza.

By-Former Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri has won the Supreme Court appeal contesting forfeiture of his properties acquired over his 25-year tenure at the helm of the Police. Justice George Chiweshe sitting in chambers, dismissed an application by the State to amend grounds of appeal citing no prospects of success on the appeal by the State. Last year a full bench comprising Justice Susan Mavangira sitting with Justice Lavender Makoni and Justice Joseph Musakwa upheld the High Court decision made by Justice Pisirayi Kwenda earlier that year. This brings to finality the long-standing battle between the former Police Commissioner General and the State. Lawyer Addington Chinake represented Chihuri, while the head of assets forfeiture unit chief law officer Chris Mutangadura represented the State. -Herald

The result put the Glamour Boys eleven points behind log leaders FC Platinum, with just six rounds to play in…Soccer24 News
By Farai D Hove | The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has deleted names of suspected CCC (Citizens Coalition For Change) members from the voters’ roll, updated complaints indicate.
The development is revealed in a report ZEC is still to comment on filed by the CCC.
The latest twist comes as the commission’s chairperson Priscilla Chigumba told journalists that she has no desire to suit her department to people’s expectations due to what she termed legislative constraints.
The CCC report states in part:
The above subject matter refers; As the Citizens Coalition for Change. we have noted serious anotnalies in the voters roll that has been laid out for inspection by the public. A reflective sample across all the ten (101 Provinces in the country have indicated numerous errors of commission and omission which indicate deviations from the Constitutional standards of a credible voters’ roll.
The main issues arising front the preliminary reports received include the following: 1. Missing names of prospective voters some of which had voted in 2018 and some as recent as Me Marsh 2022 by elections. for example, Ward 25 in Gokwe Nembudssyn Constituency —all surnames shining from A.Mo are missing Irian the Ward Voters…
2. Registered voters that had bem appearing on the BVR online inspection platform are suddenly missing their names from the current online platforms and the voters roll under inspection.
3. The voters roll under inspection seems not to be synchronized with the new delimitation boundaries. Resultantly, prospective voters have been displaced from their wards of residence.
By A Correspondent | Contrary to denials, another farm sold off by UK based businesswoman Sithule Tshuma under the guise of empowering diasporan women is a confirmed government gazetted 99-year leased land property.
The then minister of State for State Security, Lands And Land Reform, Didymus Mutasa Monday morning confirmed to ZimEye that Tshuma’s Qoki Investment business has been misleading investors by selling farmland under the promise that they have hopes in later privatising the farm land, as he added to president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s announcement that “it is unlawful in Zimbabwe to buy agricultural land…”

CALL TO DUTY: To ensure a fair democratic process during the upcoming election, President @nelsonchamisa has appealed to citizens to inspect the voters’ roll.
The inspection period continues today, and it will last until May 31st, 2023.
ZANU PF affiliate, Forever Associates Zimbabwe (Faz) has reportedly hijacked the voters roll inspection exercise by demanding proof of ruling party membership from those trying to check for their names.
Faz is a registered private voluntary organisation which claims to champion “door-to-door intimate voter contact” but reports suggest that it has a close working relationship with members of the central intelligence organisation (CIO).
On its website, Faz says its application to become an associate of Zanu PF was still pending, but the ruling party’s political commissar Mike Bimha told NewsDay yesterday that the group was an affiliate.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) opened its voters roll inspection exercise on Saturday and Faz members were manning several polling stations, mostly in the rural areas which resulted in some voters failing to check for their names.
Inspections were suspended at some centres in Shurugwi after the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) protested the presence of Faz members at the polling stations.
At Sungano Motel polling station in Ward 12, Shurugwi North Constituency, police had to be called to intervene after FAZ members refused to vacate the polling stations.
“We discovered at various centres during our assessment of the inspection exercise that Faz members were giving some orders to the registered voters who had pitched up for inspection,” CCC Shurugwi North Constituency aspiring candidate Bulle Madzitire said.
“They were making inquiries on whether the registered voter was in the Zanu PF cell register or not. Those who knew that they were not in the Zanu PF register left the poling centres before inspecting their names. We reported the matter to the police, who later ordered the Faz members to leave the polling stations. This was the situation at many polling stations in the area.”
“I am not aware of the incident,” Silaigwana said.
“But I guess the police are handling the case if they were notified.”
Bimha also said he was not aware of what Faz was doing.
“I cannot speak on behalf of Faz,” Bimha said.
“They are a Zanu PF affiliate but they have their own leadership.”
However, a Zanu PF internal memo seen by NewsDay shows that the ruling party ordered its grassroots structures to ensure that every member who appeared in the party cell registers was in the voters roll during the inspection exercise.
Faz and Heritage Trust, another Zanu PF-affiliated non-governmental organisation, were roped in as “constituency specialists” to facilitate the inspection.
In a letter dated May 19, 2023 copied to Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi, chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, Bimha directed party provincial chairpersons to ensure that all party members who appeared in cell registers, were registered as voters with the help of Faz and Heritage Trust.
Faz and Heritage Trust, which is reportedly linked to the CIO and Military Intelligence Corps, ran the party’s recent primary elections.
“It is very critical that data capture is done diligently for this programme. Constituency experts Faz and the Heritage Trust Constituency co-ordinators will monitor and capture data at each polling station as well as submit daily reports to the command centres,” Bimha wrote in the memo.
The voters roll inspection exercise failed to take off in some areas on Saturday as scheduled after Zec could not avail transport for the exercise.
Former Education minister David Coltart and his wife’s names have disappeared from the voters roll in a move that is likely to put the credibility of the whole 2023 electoral process into doubt.
Posting on Twitter, Coltart who was just coming from a voters roll inspection centre said his name, his wife and youngest daughter were all missing, adding that he has always been voting at the same centre for decades.
“I have just been to the @ZECzim inspection tent at Burnside Garage to check if my name is on the voters roll. It isn’t! I have lived in my current home since 1986 & have been registered at Burnside for decades. I am a citizen & former Cabinet Minister. How can this be?
“My wife and youngest daughter’s names do not appear either. If we have been moved to another polling station we haven’t been advised. But I doubt that is the case because my checks on the national roll through *265# have been unsuccessful. How can we all have been removed?
“Whilst at the inspection center the presiding officer told me that numerous other people can’t find their names. Only 445 are on the Burnside roll – against what should be a figure of 1000. So hundreds have been removed at this polling station.
“The whole process is shambolic and shameful. @ZECzim is exposed as an incompetent, brazenly partisan body. There can be no free, fair or lawful election with this nonsense,” said Coltart.
By A Correspondent| Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa has rallied citizens to inspect their names on the voters roll.
Posting on Twitter, Chamisa said inspecting names on the voters roll is an important process that helps to ensure that the voters roll is not tempered with.
“FELLOW CITIZENS, Voter inspection is the last stage before voting. It is very important to ensure that your name is on the voters’ list. We will not allow any tampering with the voters’ roll. Have you checked if your name is appearing on the voters’ roll? #ThisTime It’s time,” said Chamisa.
Meanwhile, Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to announce the date for the general elections today in a move that will set the election season in motion.
CALL TO DUTY: To ensure a fair democratic process during the upcoming election, President Nelson Chamisa has appealed to citizens to inspect the voters’ roll. The inspection period is set to begin tomorrow, and it will last until May 31st, 2023.- President Chamisa
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has challenged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ( ZEC) to make the voters roll accessible without restrictions.
ZEC has refused to avail the electronic version of the voters roll.
According to CCC, the voters roll must be accessible prior to proclamation.
Below are highlights from the CCC media briefing on Friday:
CCC PRESSER: during our meeting with the media, our election taskforce team highlighted four important issues that require immediate attention as the country approaches the election. Our call to action includes:
1️⃣Releasing and making the National Voters Roll accessible prior to proclamation 2️⃣Encouraging unregistered citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to register before the closure of the Voters Roll for the 2023 Elections 3️⃣Advising registered citizens to participate fully in Voters Roll Inspection 4️⃣Reiterating our demand for the implementation of electoral reforms and administrative reforms by ZEC.

The Champions League final is set, and it has the feeling of a David vs. Goliath matchup as Premier League powerhouse Manchester City face off against Italian side Inter Milan in Europe’s title bout.
Man City completely smothered defending champions Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal, putting forth an absolutely breathless performance to overwhelm the most successful club in the history of the European competition.
Inter, meanwhile, are not considered to be of the same calibre, but are hitting their stride at the right time, rising above cross-town rivals AC Milan in their semifinal to reach this stage.
The Italians will know they’re matched up against the cream of the European crop, sitting third in the Serie A table, not even having yet secured Champions League play next season. There’s a foreboding sense about this match that they will need to produce a masterclass to emerge victorious.
Manchester City are coming off one of the most dominant performances you will ever see in a high-profile match of late-season Champions League caliber.
What Pep Guardiola engineered at the Etihad Stadium on May 17, a humbling of the defending champions, will be remembered for years.
Nobody in the world is in better form than this Premier League outfit, and while Inter have crafted some impressively gritty results in European competition this season, there’s nobody in the world who can match this City side at their best.
This, of course, assumes that City bring their best to Istanbul, where the atmosphere won’t be as favourable as it was in England on Wednesday. Inter, meanwhile, are admittedly in good form too, finally figuring out their inconsistencies domestically as the season comes to a close. Yet it’s quite simply impossible to bet against this Man City juggernaut.
Man City vs Inter Milan betting odds for Champions League final With the Champions League final participants now set, the odds are helpful to see how both the oddsmakers and betting market see this match playing out.
Man City opened as massive favorites, given -250 odds to win the match outright in regulation and -650 to emerge victorious and lift the trophy. This is likely due to the manner in which City not only obliterated Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal, but their domestic form as well, en route to a likely Premier League title.
Inter, meanwhile, emerged out of the gates massive underdogs, slotted at +675 to win across 90 minutes and +375 to be named champions.

Why Man City will win Champions League title in 2023
Incredible squad depth has led to exceptional health One of the most impressive parts of Man City’s exceptional season has been their overall health. Hardly any key players have struggled with injury this season, and Pep Guardiola’s side is at full strength as the end of the campaign nears, with the exception of defender Nathan Ake, who is recovering from a minor problem.
Rodri has hardly seen a rest this season, playing over 4,000 minutes across all competitions, but the rest of the Man City squad has been given the occasional breather, and the team hasn’t lost a step thanks to its exceptional depth. Guardiola has been able to deploy his preferred starting lineup whenever needed, and yet he can trust those in rotation when there’s room to do so.
The likes of Julian Alvarez and Aymeric Laporte have earned over 2,300 and 1,700 minutes respectively, and even Rico Lewis has played over 1,000 minutes this season. Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish have all rotated on the wing, and they have all delivered in moments and stretches.
With a powerful squad like Man City able to call upon every single starter at this stage in the season, it will be next to impossible to dethrone the favourites.
Erling Haaland the difference maker against Inter defenders
Erling Haaland was brought to Manchester City to win the Champions League. That much he’s already admitted publicly, and so he will be on task in the UCL final.
While the trio of Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, and Matteo Darmian did well to keep Olivier Giroud off the scoresheet for two legs in the semifinal, they don’t exactly strike fear in the hearts of world-class forwards like Haaland.
The Norwegian failed to find the back of the net against Real Madrid only thanks to Thibaut Courtois’ brilliance, and while Mike Maignan is a top goalkeeper, he will need a man-of-the-match performance just to keep the Man City striker out. That opens things up for the rest of the City goal scorers, of which they have many.
Haaland is eating defenders for lunch in European competition, winning 60 percent of his aerial duels in Champions League play this season. Both Acerbi and Bastoni are proficient in that department, but Haaland has so many ways of beating opponents, it’s hard to see them keeping up.
What Manchester City produced against Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal was utterly breathtaking. The City midfield was unbeatable, and their precise pressing kept Real Madrid totally unable to even get a dangerous touch on the ball let alone build forward with any kind of attacking presence.
Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Rodri, and Ilkay Gundogan choked Real Madrid completely out of the match, from the opening whistle to the jubilant celebration at the end. Through 15 minutes, Madrid had just 14 total passes, and four Madrid players had yet to complete a single one.
Meanwhile, City used patience and precision to unlock the Madrid back line. Haaland forced two world-class saves out of Courtois before Silva’s double put City in front for good.
The Inter midfield is the strength of their side, but Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitarayan won’t be able to breathe if City reproduce this performance. Oh, and if Inter decide to push the ball out wide, they’ll have to deal with Kyle Walker, who just blanketed Vinicius Jr for 180 minutes. – Sporting News
By Lesley Hova | Emmerson Mnangagwa, one of theb 2024l3 presidential candidates, yesterday shamelessly called on Zimbabweans to visit and verify the voters’ roll to make sure their data are accurately recorded. At the moment, the voters’ roll copy had been withheld from the public.
Prior to his anticipated announcement of the election date today, the President made this statement yesterday after verifying his information with his wife, Auxillia Mnangagwa, at Sherwood Primary School in Kwekwe.
“As the 2023 harmonised general elections draw closer, I call upon all voters to inspect the voters roll to ensure that their details are correctly captured,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
The state media claims that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on Saturday finally opened the voters’ roll to be used in this year’s harmonised elections for inspection in an exercise that is expected to run until May 31.
Inspections will be carried out at all the 1,159 polling stations, while prospective voters can also check their names using the USSD code *265# if they are Econet or NetOne subscribers and also on the ZEC’s website (www.bvrinspection.zec.org.zw), the announcement said.
On Saturday, ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana said the exercise could be extended in some centres.
“Owing to logistical and other unforeseen challenges, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission would like to inform members of the public that some voters’ roll inspection centres may start operating much later than the anticipated time on 27 May 2023. The Commission may consider extending this exercise scheduled to end on 31 May 2023 by a day in affected areas,” he said.
The centres will open between 7 am and 7 pm and people are required to bring a National Identity Card (metal, plastic or waiting pass with the holder’s picture) or a valid Zimbabwean passport.
“The cut-off date for the purposes of producing the voters’ roll for this inspection exercise was 28 April 2023. Those who registered on or before 28 April 2023, are encouraged to inspect the voters roll at their ordinary polling stations which have been designated as inspection centres for purposes of this voters roll inspection exercise. Note, your name will appear only at that inspection centre if that centre is your designated polling station,” Mr Silaigwana said.
He added that anyone with queries should direct them to their respective provincial elections officers or the ZEC’s head office in Harare.
Preparations for the elections are gathering steam with President Mnangagwa on Saturday saying he would today announce the date when they will be held.
ZEC deputy chair Ambassador Rodney Kiwa said voter registration would continue until two days after the proclamation of the poll dates as stipulated.
“Our cut-off date for the purposes of this inspection was on the 28th of April so what it means is the registration continues but not at the inspection centres but will continue at our 68 districts as well as the 10 provincial centres.
“Registration will continue until two days after the proclamation of the election date by the President,” he said.
Ambassador Kiwa said the electoral body was gearing for the successful holding of free, fair and transparent elections.
To this effect, he said, the commission had come up with a roadmap that would be followed once President Mnangagwa proclaims the election date.
“We are very much ready and getting prepared and some of the activities that we are undertaking, for instance, are the procurement of sensitive and non-sensitive materials including pens, indelible ink and so forth as well as ballot papers, we are all geared for that.
“Not only that, we are also training our people, electoral officers so that they are prepared and they know exactly what is expected of them when the President announces the date,” Ambassador Kiwa said.
“In that regard, we have a road map and once the President announces the date we are going to follow and it includes publicity whereby we will be engaging the media through whom we will be informing our public through radio, television, fliers and anything that will help us to reach our people so that they participate in the harmonised elections.”

The Reds triumphed despite trailing 3-0 at half-time, the ‘Miracle of Istanbul’ regarded as one of the most sensational comebacks in European football history.
Who is playing in the Champions League final? Manchester City and Inter will meet in the final for the first time. City booked their final spot at the expense of holders Real Madrid, while the Nerazzurri progressed as a result of a a 3-0 aggregate defeat of city rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals.- UEFA
By A Correspondent | The local currency will continue to be used, and deliberate measures are being done to raise its value in order to restore consumer purchasing power and support the economic recovery’s momentum, according to Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube. The government has stated that it will not budge from its policy to mainstream the use of the local currency because it has had a favourable effect on the broader economy, despite the most recent wave of speculative parallel market-induced inflationary dynamics and lopsided preference for foreign currency transactions.
According to Professor Mthuli Ncube, extra steps are being made to safeguard and preserve the Zimbabwean currency by getting rid of economic saboteurs.
His remarks come at a time when the local currency has been quickly falling in value against the US dollar, causing considerable consumer outrage and leading to the exclusive demand for payment in foreign currency by many company owners and service providers.
Some retail businesses have set their exchange rates at the unbelievable amount of $1 US, or $5 500, which is far more than the official rate of $1 888.
In an effort to collect foreign currency, a number of businesses, including well-known fast-food restaurants, have unplugged their electronic payment systems.
The inflated rates have also been a result of illegal forex traders employing POS devices for transactions involving big sums of money.
The local currency has aided in increasing economic productivity and the resurgence of some industries, according to Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube, who was speaking to journalists after his Saturday tour of retail establishments and interactions with the general public in Bulawayo.
“The Zimbabwe dollar is our lawful currency, our domestic currency, it is here to stay. It is what has given all these companies the competitiveness. That is why we have 80 percent of the goods being locally produced. This was not the case when the US dollar was the only currency that was circulating,” said Prof Ncube.
“Now we have this currency which has led to a kind of boom in the domestic economy and improved competitiveness and this is all due to the presence of the Zimbabwean dollar. We need it, we need to preserve it and protect it as Government. If we stop using the local currency, it will lead to some companies closing down. Some companies were able to reopen and invest because we introduced the Zim dollar.”
He said the new measures are expected to slow down the skyrocketing prices.
“Surely we will be announcing measures which I cannot mention at the moment this coming week to ensure that we strengthen the domestic currency and reduce the negative impacts that are eroding value for our currency,” said Prof Ncube.
“On 24 May 2025, the FIU froze the bank accounts of four major distributors, namely Saxin Trading, Simrac Enterprises, Brainscope Investments and Munella Enterprises, that have been diverting basic commodities to the informal market while refusing to supply same to established retailers who pay for and sell goods in local currency,” reads the statement.
“The FIU noted that these errant distributors transact almost exclusively in foreign currency cash yet they do not bank the cash as required under the Bank Use Promotion Act. The entities are being penalised and will further be referred to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority for suspected tax evasion.”
It said it has also increased surveillance operations, identifying and taking punitive action against traders engaged in exchange rate manipulation and all other illegal practices.
“Members of the public are urged to report any illegal business practices as described above, to the FIU WhatsApp hotline numbers: 0780 434 475 and 0719 207 310,” it said.- State Media
Marvelous Nakamba led his English club Luton Town to the English Premier League after beating Coventry City 6-5 on penalties in the play off final at Wembley.
The Warriors defensive midfielder played a starring role in the middle of the park and successfully converted his spot kick with Luton Town winning in sudden death penalty shoot out for a return to the top flight after more than 30 years in lower leagues.
Luton Town last played in the top flight in 1992 when they were relegated from the then English First Division that became the Premier League the following season in 1993.
While it was joy for Nakamba who celebrated with a Zimbabwean flag, it was tears for Coventry City the club that Warriors legend Peter Ndlovu played for.
Coventry City were last in the English English Premier League in 2001. The Sky Blues, as Coventry City are affectionately known, signed the then 18-year-old Peter Ndlovu from Highlanders in 1991, with the Bulawayo Bullet as Ndlovu was known in England, going on to become the first African player to play in the English Premier League.
Ndlovu went on to become a legend at Highfield Road, Coventry City’s old home including the honour of scoring a hattrick against Liverpool at Anfield, a record he shares with former Arsenal and Russian international Andrei Arshavin.
Coventry City had finished fifth in the championship to earn a play off spot, while Luton Town finished third.
In top spot were Burnley, while Sheffield United were the runners up, thereby earning automatic promotion to the premiership.
Meanwhile, Nakamba is still an Aston Villa player as his loan spell at Luton Town comes to an end at the end of the season.
It is not clear if Nakamba will continue at Villa, but indications are that Luton Town will sign him permanently from the Villans.- ZBC
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commissioned Mabobolo Primary and Secondary Schools in Binga, while also officiating at a groundbreaking ceremony for a clinic in the same area.
The President had a clear message hinged on the Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo/ Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo mantra he emphasised that Zimbabweans must build their nation, with access to education and health key targets under the Second Republic.
“I said nyika inovakwa nevene vayo [the nation is built by its people]. For this to happen, we want our children to study science and agriculture… Our children are very talented, so as government, we provide innovation hubs to transform their dreams into a product or service. We want engineers, we want doctors,” he said.
While the Second Republic has delivered many infrastructure projects in Binga, partnerships with various stakeholders such as the church have been key in delivering health and education institutions such as the Mabobolo schools and many others across the country.
The commissioned projects are being implemented by the Reformed Church of Zimbabwe.

The pardoned rapists have been told to vote for ZANU PF and its President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Kasukuwere made the below comments during a spaces discussion:
It has never been the boy. It has always been the girl child… there are certain crimes that can never be pardoned… if you murder somebody… if you rape… you can’t be pardoned.
When the law was made, it was never meant to set aside those types of crimes. Statutory rape should never be pardoned, says @Hon_Kasukuwere
I was personally disturbed by it… Yes, I belong to the Marange (church), but I think we have done away with some of these practices… whoever made that decision, they made a big blunder… how do you release a 65-year-old man who raped a 9-year-old? asks @Hon_Kasukuwere
If it was me, I was going to look for those men and throw them back into prison, says @Hon_Kasukuwere
Imagine the psychological trauma, that girl has not yet been counselled, and now suddenly the same is out of prison…

World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Under the banner of ‘The Big Catch-Up’, WHO is working with partners to support countries to get back on track to ensure more people are protected from preventable diseases.
We need to act now to catch-up the millions of children who missed out on vaccines during the pandemic, restore essential immunization coverage to at least 2019 levels and strengthen primary health care to deliver immunization.
The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more children, adults – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases, allowing them to live happier, healthier lives.

CALL TO DUTY: To ensure a fair democratic process during the upcoming election, President Nelson Chamisa has appealed to citizens to inspect the voters’ roll. The inspection period is set to begin tomorrow, and it will last until May 31st, 2023.- President Chamisa
Elvis Dzvene, the Chairman of the US based Robert Chapman’s party, Democratic Union Of Zimbabwe, on Sunday announced she is stepping down claiming that the man is a threat to democracy. Full letter below:
Robert Chapman
To: President Robert Howard Chapman.
Cc: Organizing Secretary- Mochock Mushongayi:
Information Director- Itayi Muchemwa.
Sub: Resignation from Political Party.
I, Elvis Dzvene, joined the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe last year on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in hopes of creating a third force political power that will serve the needs of the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
I envisioned a country where all people are treated equally regardless of color, religion, income, age, or region. I hoped that all people would be given a chance to hold their political leaders accountable for what they do and say. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I can no longer stand by and watch helplessly.
Since June 2022, I have seen what the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe has done for the people of Zimbabwe. The party leadership failed to be held accountable by its provincial executives and its ordinary members.
• No single day has the party involve the provincial youth leaders in decision making, only sent them for ground mobilization. • Since inception no meetings held between provincial leaders and national executive (brief case politics). • Victimization of provincial coordinators by the top echelons hence decision made are biased.
• No proper national executive’s structure as everything is kept secret by the president including, all other position holders are unknown (which are people behind the scenes). • Party top echelons are more curious to join and lead POLAD than winning an election and lead Zimbabweans.
• Too much lies, unnecessary over promising (propaganda) • Lack of election preparedness.
• No Party office or a single party vehicle even at national level.
The party seems to be a threat to democracy given that the top echelon of the party can impose decisions unopposed (the party is doing what it exactly criticize the CCC for). The party has failed to honor a single promise among the endless promises it made, including failing to honor a pledge of December 2022, to people living with albinism that the party will provide them with lotions in a week’s time. Since December, nothing has been received yet these people are involved in ground mobilizations. The party has successfully failed to convince Zimbabweans that it is really into politics of change. The party seems to be good at overpromising the electorate yet delivering nothing, if not worse (is it not what the party accuse Zanu-pf for?). Instead of building a strong institution, the party is making strong individuals like other failed opposition parties in this land. DUZ, we started well with vibrancy, but we’ve quickly lost direction because the party now do exactly what it used to oppose. Surely Zimbabwe needs a serious third force that is not after fundraising for personal pocketing and serves the poor, intimidated, and victimized Zimbabweans.
I made a promise to serve my country, and I have regretfully broken that promise.
Therefore, for the reasons stated above, I am hereby resigning from the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe, effective Saturday, May 27, 2023.1 wish everyone I worked with, from grassroots to national, the best in the future and hope that they can help change this country for the better. Great wishes for the 2023 elections!
Yours faithfully;
President of the Citizens Coalition for Change, Nelson Chamisa will take over as leader of the opposition in Parliament from Douglas Mwonzora, president of the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai.
President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of the Zanu PF party will use the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to force a win against Chamisa in the presidential race, which development will lead to Chamisa heading the opposition in parliament.
The title of Leader of the Opposition is a semi-official legislative position awarded to the head of the biggest opposition party or group in Parliament in nations that have adapted the Westminster model of parliamentary government.
The symbolism in the post is significant despite being primarily metaphorical.
The Constitution’s section 151 designates “the Leader of the Opposition in each House” (i.e., the National Assembly and the Senate) as members of the committee that oversees the parliamentary procedures.
The Leader of the Opposition is a member of the Business of the House Committee under Order 14 of the Standing Rules and Orders of the National Assembly.
By Dorrothy Moyo | A prophet who says people who vote for ZANU PF will be added 15 years on earth, Madzibaba Andby Makururu, has shot a video saying the paedophiles who were released from prison a few days ago, must vote for that party’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In his Facebook live video, Madzibaba Andby said, ” our president executed what is called amnesty; amnesty means the rescuing of people by the country’s leader, like our President did…
“My message to the people is let us go and vote ZANU PF, that’s the straight way,” as he connected to the interview of another pardoned rapist who announces on video saying, “Mnangagwa is honey!”
Makururu is popular for prophesying that the former Zambian President Edgar Lungu would win that country’s 2021 elections, a prediction which upon being interviewed by ZimEye over it, he would comment saying he uttered it because the Holy Spirit only instructs him to support ruling parties.
The development comes as a local paper, Newsday narrates how, when a 59-year-old villager forced himself on an 11-year-old girl, his name was Emelka (not her real name). The villager repeatedly attacked the young girl, threatening to use witchcraft to murder her if she dared tell anybody about it.
The problem wasn’t discovered until the girl became ill and a watchful nurse noted that she had acquired a sexually transmitted virus.
The individual was detained and given a 12-year prison term. He was, however, one among those who was freed last week as a result of a presidential amnesty.
“I am appalled and devastated by President (Emmerson) Mnangagwa’s decision to grant amnesty to rapists. My daughter, who was brutally assaulted, fought tirelessly for justice and now it feels like her struggle was in vain,” Elmelka’s mother told NewsDay Weekender.
“This amnesty sends a message that the pain and trauma endured by victims is insignificant. It is a betrayal of our trust in the justice system and a blow to all the survivors who summoned the courage to come forward. I fear for the safety of women in our society, as this decision only encourages more violence and leaves us without recourse.”
Rapists who are over 65 and have completed two-thirds of their prison sentences were released last week under the terms of the presidential pardon.
A heated discussion about women’s protection and the effectiveness of the legal system has been sparked by the amnesty for convicted rapists.
Victims of rape expressed their dismay at seeing convicted rapists ‘boasting’ about their crimes on TV after being let out of prison.
Legal professionals and activists contend that freeing those responsible for such crimes undermines efforts to stop gender-based violence and protect victims.
“The decision to grant amnesty to rapists by Mnangagwa raises serious concerns about the government’s commitment to addressing gender-based violence. While prison overcrowding is undoubtedly a pressing issue, it should never come at the expense of survivors’ rights and safety,” Taodzera said.
“This decision undermines the efforts of activists, organisations, and individuals who have tirelessly worked towards creating a society free from violence and discrimination. It sends a message that the state is prioritising the convenience of the justice system over the well-being of survivors and the deterrence of future crimes.
“It is crucial for the government to consider alternative measures that do not compromise the principles of justice, such as implementing comprehensive rehabilitation programs and improving the efficiency of the judicial process. Failure to do so not only erodes public trust but also perpetuates a culture of impunity that further endangers the lives of women and girls.”
Legal expert Admire Huniuswa questioned the constitutionality of the amnesty, which he said could be in violation of international human rights norms and domestic laws that guarantee protection against gender-based violence. The move, he said, disregards the rights of victims and fails to address the root causes of sexual violence in society.
“The amnesty to rapists raises significant legal concerns and questions the adherence to international human rights standards. While the issue of prison overcrowding is a legitimate concern, it is crucial to prioritise the rights and safety of survivors and ensure that justice is served. Granting amnesty to rapists undermines the principle of accountability and sends a detrimental message to both survivors and potential offenders,” Huniuswa said.
“It is essential to explore alternative solutions, such as improving the efficiency of the justice system, implementing restorative justice programmes, and providing comprehensive support to survivors. Moreover, this decision may be in violation of domestic laws and international human rights instruments that guarantee protection against gender-based violence. It is imperative for legal experts and human rights organisations to challenge the constitutionality of this amnesty and advocate for a justice system that upholds the rights and safety of all individuals, particularly survivors of sexual violence.”
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in a statement on Wednesday said it was “grossly irrational to release dangerous, unrehabilitated offenders back into society” before informing or preparing rape victims.
“Unleashing an unrehabilitated rapist who has not served his sentence back into his community unchecked, and with no safeguards to protect victims endangers women and girls and can never be reasonably justifiable in a democratic society,” CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said in a statement.- Newsday

A 53-year-old Chitungwiza woman is accused of killing her husband after an argument over relish and has appeared in court.
The court heard that Wilson Muchimwe (53) was irritated when he got home and discovered that Nozizwe Mpengesi had prepared vegetables for dinner rather than meat, causing a misunderstanding.
When Mpengesi showed up in front of Harare Magistrate Mr. Dennis Mangosi, she was accused of murder. She was instructed to seek for bail before the High Court while still in detention.
According to investigations, Mpengesi and Muchimwe got into a quarrel on that fateful day after he returned home inebriated and complained that she had made veggies instead of meat for supper relish.
Muchimwe allegedly fell headfirst onto a slab of concrete after Mpengesi retaliated and shoved him.
The now-deceased began bleeding from the forehead, according to the testimony given in court, which prompted Mpengesi to go to ZRP Zengeza 5 base and lie to the police about Muchimwe’s alleged assault at an unidentified pub by unidentified attackers.
Further investigations showed that Mpengesi stole all of Muchimwe’s clothing and shoes and delivered them to her sister Thandiwe Mpengesi in order to hide proof that she knew about him beforehand and was close to him.
Yesterday, the court heard testimony that Mpengesi guided detectives to the location while being recorded on camera, where she gave cues as to how she had done the crime.
She also assisted in the rescue of Muchimwe’s jacket and shoes.
In order to conduct a post-mortem examination, Muchimwe’s body is at the Chitungwiza hospital mortuary.

The fitness of Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa is in significant doubt for the Champions League final against Man City.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the most recent muscle injury suffered by the 28-year-old Argentine international means that he is at real risk of missing out on next month’s clash with City.
Inter confirmed today that Correa has suffered a calf strain.
The former Lazio, Sevilla, and Sampdoria forward complained of pain in his leg after the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina. Subsequent medical tests revealed that Correa had suffered a strain to the soleus muscle in his right calf.
Now, the big question is whether Correa will be able to play again for Inter again this season.
There are two Serie A matches to go, and then the Champions League final against City in Istanbul on June 10.
What is abundantly clear, is that Correa will not be able to start against Atalanta tomorrow. The Argentine had been predicted to start against La Dea in Inter’s penultimate league fixture of the season.
However, this is now out of the questions, as would a start against Torino next weekend almost certainly.
Also in doubt, though, is the Champions League final according to the Gazzetta.-sempreinter
Aston Villa are reportedly considering offloading Marvelous Nakamba permanently in the next transfer window.
Nakamba left the EPL club in January to join promotion-chasing Championship side Luton Town on a six-month loan deal.
According to Birmingham Mail newspaper, the Warriors international, along with other players, who left on loan in January, will be moved permanently at the end of the season.
A report by the publication said: “Should Villa find themselves fighting on four fronts next term, beefing up the squad in the summer will be of the utmost important to (coach) Unai Emery, who successfully trimmed the fringes of the squad in January when sanctioning the exits of Danny Ings, Ludwig Augustinsson, Jan Bednarek, Morgan Sanson, Marvelous Nakamba and Frederic Guilbert.
“Of those players whose departures were loans, they’re expected to be moved on permanently this summer.”
Following his move to Luton, Nakamba discovered his form and quickly became a key player in the squad.
