Another Survey Predicts Massive Win For Chamisa

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa and his Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party would win next month’s Zimbabwean elections by a margin of between 8% and 9% – if the elections are free and fair – a new poll suggests.

The poll of 2,000 registered voters, conducted by Elite Africa Research in June, found that if the elections were held then, 47.6% of respondents would vote for Chamisa in the presidential poll, while 38.7% would vote for President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Similarly, the poll found that 47.7 % of respondents would vote for Chamisa’s CCC while 39.6% would vote for Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu-PF party in the parliamentary elections.

The presidential, parliamentary and local council elections are all scheduled to be held on 23 August.

Even if these poll results suggest Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF would lose a fair contest, they are still quite flattering to the ruling party and president.

The poll also found, by much wider margins, that Zimbabweans believe their country is heading in the wrong direction and that the economy is getting worse.

A large majority of 69.4% said they thought the country was heading in the wrong direction, while only 27.3% felt it was heading in the right direction. Their views of the economy were even more critical, as more than three-quarters – 77.5% – said they believed the economy was getting worse while fewer than one-fifth – 19.6% – felt it was getting better.

A total of 59.8% of the 2,000 citizens polled said they hoped for a new government after the elections, while only 37% said they hoped for the same government.

Also revealing were the answers to the question of whether the respondents felt strongly favourable, somewhat favourable, somewhat unfavourable or strongly unfavourable towards a list of political leaders and parties.

Chamisa emerged with a net positive score of 29.6%, while Mnangagwa’s score was a net negative of 2.6%.

Similarly, the CCC registered a net positive score of 28.6% while Zanu-PF scored a net negative of 2.7%. The net scores were derived by subtracting the unfavourable responses from the favourable responses for each leader or party.

These results taken together suggest a high level of discontent among Zimbabweans towards Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF, but also some reluctance, possibly anxiety, about replacing them with Chamisa and the CCC.

Oscar Mutinda, the founder and CEO of Elite Africa Research which did the survey, confirmed this. He said that in conversations with people during the survey, it emerged many felt that even if the current government was doing a bad job, they were not confident the opposition could do much better.

The survey results, if replicated on 23 August, would mean Zimbabweans would have to go to the polls again soon after, as no presidential candidate would have won more than 50% of votes in the first round. In that case, a second round of voting would have to be held between the top two candidates to ensure the winner gets more than 50% of the votes.

Mutinda explained that the sample of 2,000 was selected to replicate national demographics such as the proportions of urban and rural voters as well as the proportions of voters in the country’s provinces.

Govt Targets Pharmacies In Latest Crackdown On Exchange Rate Violators

Government has pounced on pharmacies to weed out those accused of violating exchange control regulations.

The State warned that it will suspend or cancel licences of those found on the wrong side of the law as it battles to save the Zimdollar from further depreciation.

In a statement yesterday, the Finance and Economic Development ministry said it noted with concern that some market players continued “to exhibit highly destabilising forward pricing and speculation” in outright violation of exchange control regulations as well as standing government policy guidelines with respect to pricing and the use of the local currency.

Government said the practice was particularly rampant in the pharmaceutical sector, although other sectors were also found on the wrong side of the law.

Treasury said ongoing investigations being carried out by the Financial Intelligence Unit had revealed that 17 pharmacies were using parallel market exchange rates ranging from $8 500 to $11 000 against the greenback.

Two of the pharmacies were accused of pricing their goods exclusively in United States dollars.

The 17 pharmacies are Blessed (Chegutu), Global, and Pineal (all Kadoma), Greenwood (Kwekwe), Apex, Siegmed and Booties (all in Gweru).

The others are Mediplus, Greenview and Kaizen (all in Rusape) as well as NectaCare, Lancaster, Murapi Grey, Central and Manica (all in Mutare).

“Government has instituted measures that will result in the suspension and/or cancellation of the trading licences of the … pharmacies,” the Treasury statement read, adding that government remained committed “to the broad use of local currency for domestic transactions and stern measures will be taken against service providers who continue to violate provisions”.

Government agencies, including local authorities, have been directed to collect their fees and levies in local currency.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has on several occasions accused business of sabotaging his government’s economic recovery efforts.

Since its resurrection in June 2019, the local currency has taken heavy knocks on the foreign currency auction system and failed to maintain its value against stronger currencies, with the knocks even heavier on the parallel market.

On its first day, the Zimdollar traded at $6,32 against the United States dollar on the formal market, while on the parallel market, the local currency traded at $13,50 against the greenback.

Currently the local currency is trading at $5 297,50 on official market and $7 500 on the parallel market.

Daughter And Mum In Law Clash Over Hubby’s Burial Place

The Rusape family is currently embroiled in a dispute over the burial place for their late son and husband, Justice Justen Murungu, who passed away in the UK on June 5. The conflict has escalated to the point where it reached the High Court for resolution.

Justice’s wife, Lydia Dambaza, their son, Athanasius Murungu, and Lydia’s brother, Rickmore Dambaza, desire to bury him at Glen Forest Cemetery. However, Justice’s mother, Gogo Patricia Murungu, insists on laying him to rest in Murungu Village, under Chief Makoni, in Rusape.

Unable to find a resolution amongst themselves, Gogo Murungu sought legal advice, and her lawyer, Moffat Makuvatsine, filed an urgent chamber application in the High Court. Gogo Murungu argues that according to custom, the responsibility of burial lies with the deceased’s family.

High Court Judge Neville Wamambo ruled in favor of Gogo Murungu, ordering that Justice’s body should not be buried at Glen Forest Cemetery. Additionally, the judge instructed Nyaradzo Funeral Services not to release the body to Lydia, Athanasius, and Rickmore without the presence of Gogo Murungu.

According to Gogo Murungu’s lawyer, she believes that burying her son in Murungu Village, where his father and other relatives are laid to rest, is in accordance with his wishes. She expressed her desire to be buried alongside her son and husband in the future.

On the other hand, Lydia argued that she shared a closer bond with her late husband and should be entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the burial. She claimed that she was the one who repatriated Justice’s body to Zimbabwe. Rickmore, Lydia’s brother, supported her position, noting that Justice’s family did not contribute anything towards the repatriation expenses.

Lydia reportedly canceled the Nyaradzo funeral policy after the court ruling and expressed her decision not to attend her husband’s burial. She expressed sadness about the court’s decision and was also unhappy that her in-laws did not allow her husband’s body to pass through their matrimonial home in Marlborough.

As of now, mourners are divided, with some gathered at Gogo Murungu’s home in Glen View and others in Marlborough. The situation remains tense and unresolved, with each side holding firm to their respective positions regarding Justice’s final resting place.- state media

Major Test For ZRP As Docket Is Opened Against Energy Mutodi For Firing Shots At Opposition Supporters

Zanu-PF aspiring MP for Bikita South Energy Mutodi stormed the venue of a Citizens Coalition for Change rally and discharged his gun, according to a police complaint filed by his rival John Mupanduki.

The incident happened at Baradzanwa BIC in Bikita on July 6, according to the police report filed on July 9.

The former deputy Information Minister is representing Zanu-PF for the Bikita South National Assembly seat.

In his complaint, Mupanduki said the incident took place when he and other CCC party members were gathered at Baradzanwa waiting to be addressed by party leader Nelson Chamisa.

He said the gathering had been approved by the police and was lawful, as indicated by the coordinator.

“Whilst we were dancing to some music, the accused suddenly appeared with his convoy.

“He entered our venue with his vehicle which had Zanu-PF stickers, and parked his vehicle on the middle of the venue,” reads part of the complaint.

“We tried to reason with him and he said ‘hamuite meeting pano’, in vernacular, meaning, ‘you are not going to have a meeting here’.

“The CCC members asked him why he was doing such thing and he threatened to kill anyone who dares come near him. He then fired two shots and we started to run for our life.”

Mupanduki said they later managed to persuade Mutodi to leave the venue despite most of the members having left the venue in fear for their lives.

CCC party spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has called on the police to ensure Mutodi’s unruly conduct is addressed.

Police commanders recently received a directive to ensure that all political parties are afforded a level ground to ensure electoral processes are free and fair.

CCC has raised complaints as most of their rallies are being banned by the police despite Zanu-PF enjoying freedom to conduct rallies without police intervention.

FAZ: We’ll Keep Mnangagwa In Power

indepth...Wilbert Mukori

When Mugabe failed to pay his patronage dues, he was booted out. ED is next. “It’s the economy, stupid!”

By Wilbert Mukori | Robert Mugabe was a ruthless dictator who enjoyed absolute power and thus demanded blind loyalty from those below him. Such blind loyalty comes with a high price tag. Mugabe could afford to pay the price because he inherited the Biblical seven fat cows and seven fat ears of corn.

In an interview with Trevor Ncube, In Conversation With Trevor, Dr Simba Makoni described how Prime Minister Mugabe replaced Peugeot 406 Ian Smith had given to his Ministers with Class E Mercedes Benz limousines just a few weeks after taking office in 1980. The limousines were not budgeted for and there was no cabinet approval. This was Mugabe’s gift to his cabinet, kicking starting the patronage system that has remained the hallmark of Zimbabwe’s political system.

The cabinet ministers, MPs, etc, the beneficiaries of the the political patronage, returned the favour by giving Mugabe their blind loyalty. Even at the height of the Gukurahundi Massacre in 1983 to 1987 there was no voice of dissent in parliament or cabinet.

“Mose murivakadzi vaMugabe!” (You are all Mugabe’s kowtowing concubines!) Margret Dongo scolded her fellow Zanu PF MPs and Ministers in protest at their slavish subservience to Mugabe. No doubt the dictator was tickled to no end.

The trouble with political patronage, by its very nature of rewarding blind loyalty instead of merit, it is, per se, a criminal waste of human and material resources. The appetites of beneficiaries of the patronage system once awakened grew exponentially matched only by their wastefulness. The seven fat cows and seven fat ears of corn inherited from Smith were soon gone and Mugabe was forced to dig deeper and deeper to keep his ever demanding hyenas fed.

By the turn of the century, just 20 after Zimbabwe’s independence, the country’s once promising economy was in deep trouble. Mugabe had no wealth left to give away except for one thing – land. And started seizing the white-owned farms, supposedly to give to landless peasant, but in reality to give to his Zanu PF cronies. By 2005 Zimbabwe’s once very productive agricultural sector had collapsed and with it the nation’s economy and both have yet to recover to this day.

Mugabe lost the 2008 elections to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC party and had to rely on the Joint Operation Command, a Junta composed of the top brass in the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Service, to spearhead the infamous Operation Mavhotera Papi to stop MDC getting into power. Mugabe was obliged to reward the securocrats with diamond mining concessions under such generous terms the holder(s) have no legal obligation to declare their earning nor pay any tax – in short, they are looting licences. In time the securocrats have demanded more and more economic and political power and influence.

Zanu PF emerged out of the 2008 to 2013 GNU with all the party’s carte blanche dictatorial powers untouched largely because of Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends’ being corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Mugabe himself was a spend force, he had no wealth to doll out and without the blind loyalty of those around him had disappeared like mist in the morning sun.

Of course, Mugabe was disappointed in being booted out of office in the November 2017 military coup but that is not to say he was surprise with the coup. He saw it coming. He has no wealth to doll out to the ever demanding party members for their blind loyalists; the minute they realise you cannot their loyalty to you evaporates.

Emmerson Mnangagwa was the principle beneficiary of the 2017 military coup and, of all people, he knew his stay in power was totally dependent on his paying his patronage dues. He inherited a collapse economy from Mugabe and so he knew he would have to revive the economy quick smart. He thought he had hit the ground running with his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra.

Sadly, no one was fooled especially the savvy investors, Mnangagwa was hoping to attack and kick-start the comatose Zimbabwe economy. They could see that the coup had removed the old dictator Mugabe but only to replace him with an new dictator. When Mnangagwa failed to hold free and fair elections in 2018 he confirm that nothing indeed had changed. “Zimbabwe is open for business!” was dead in the water.

For the last two years, Mnangagwa and his spin doctors have tried to sell the narrative that Zimbabwe’s economy has turned the corner from the Mugabe days and things are getting better and better every day! The reality on the ground has told its own story that things are getting worse. Zimbabwe is a failed state and anyone with eyes can see that for themselves. Zimbabwe’s present social, economic and political situation is unsustainable and it is no surprise then that President Mnangagwa is at a loss what to do.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken a huge political risk by sidelining the military – which has kept Zanu-PF in power directly since 2000 – from his dicey intelligency-driven presidential election campaign, state security sources say,” reported NewsHawks.

Mnangagwa is now working with the dreaded state security agency, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO)’s shadowy political dark arts structure Forever Associates Zimbabwe (Faz).

“An internal secret intelligence assessment by CIO, on which The NewsHawks was briefed, shows Mnangagwa has moved to sideline the army in the elections for three main reasons,” the report explained.

“It is a huge risk which may pay a political dividend for him, but trigger the military to fight back.

“Firstly, Mnangagwa is pushing back against the army which is still heavily influenced by Chiwenga and is suspected of planning a 2008-like “bhora musango” (sabotage) campaign which led to Mugabe’s shock defeat by the late founding opposition MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the first round of polling.

“Secondly, he is trying to disentangle and wean himself off the army, which brought him to power through the coup, to secure his own mandate through Faz.

“Sources say Mnangagwa is fed up with Chiwenga and the army’s “we put you there” mantra used to blackmail and control him.

“Thirdly, having dismantled the coup coalition which brought him to power, the President wants to push the army back to the barracks and remove them from the political fray.

“The intelligence briefing sheds light and insight on the matter which will persist well beyond the elections, perhaps deciding Mnangagwa’s fate even after he has won.”

It must be said that Mnangagwa has dug deep and extended the Marange and Chiadzwa diamond looting licence scheme to other areas such as gold, lithium and platinum mining, fuel cartels, etc. to securocrats, cronies, war veterans, church leaders and all those in a position to help him stay in power. Looting in Zimbabwe has gone into overdrive and the few well-connected have become filthy rich.

The recent Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary has confirmed Zimbabwe’s position as one of the most corrupt and lawless country on earth. Zimbabwe has attracted unscrupulous business at the expense of the honest long term investors and it s not surprising the country’s economy has sunk deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Mnangagwa can get away with sidelining his former military friends with his new found Faz friends. Can outwit the corrupt and incompetent Chamisa and his CCC friends into participating in flawed elections to give him political legitimacy. What he cannot cheat or falsify is Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. A Mnangagwa electoral victory next month will be greeted by a new wave of Zimbabweans living the country. Having denying them a meaningful ballot people will vote with their feet, a vote he cannot rig and drawing attention back to the elephant in the room – the collapsed economy!

“It is the economy, stupid!” said former US President Clinton. And when the chips are down it is the economy that boot Mnangagwa out of office.

Govt Drags Negotiations For Civil Servants Salary Hike

Negotiators for a salary hike between government and civil servants have continued to drag as they are yet to reach a “conclusive” agreement.

Government and the Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU), formerly Apex Council, met in the capital last Friday, where they failed to reach to an agreement.

ZCPSTU chairperson Cecilia Alexander told NewsDay yesterday that they were yet to reach a “conclusive” agreement.

She, however, refused to divulge more details on what was discussed during the Friday meeting.

“We had negotiations with the government on July the 7th on Friday on the salary increment on both the US dollar and local currency components,” she said.

“The meeting was not conclusive as the government is in consultation with its principal. The government said they are going to consult further on the increment and we have since agreed to meet seven days from the day we met.”

She said the civil servants wanted to maintain the spirit of negotiations.

“Once the negotiations are over, we will issue a statement from when we started the negotiations,” Alexander said.

According to a statement issued by ZCPSTU, government had tabled its offer at the meeting.

“However, the workers’ side acknowledged the offer, but asked the government team of negotiators to consult their principals for improvement in both US dollar and the Zimbabwe dollar component with the view to restore and improve value. The meeting is expected to reconvene in the shortest period,” the ZCPSTU statement said.

Sources who attended the meeting said government had tabled an increment of US$50 hard cash and the equivalent of less US$40 in local currency.

“Government offered a US$50 component and a less than US$40 local currency component. This is what was discussed during the meeting,” a source close to the negotiations said.

Civil servants are pushing government to increase their salaries to at least US$560 for the least paid employee.

Epworth Man In Court For Killing Ex-Girlfriend’s Friend

A 35-year-old Epworth man has appeared in court for killing a reveller who was in the company of his ex-girlfriend at Reuben Shops.

Wenset Charuzika was not asked to plead to murder charges when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Mrs Yeukai Dzuda. He was advised to apply bail at the High Court. Allegation are that on July 8, at about 10pm Charuzika went to Bhagomalo Bar, Reuben Shops in Epworth and met his ex-girlfriend Praise Muchemwa who was in the company of the now deceased.

The court heard that Charuzika bought some beers trying to lure her back but she refused because she had already been paid by the deceased for some sexual services. A misunderstanding ensued and Charuzika threatened unspecified action on them.

At around 11pm, Charuzika waylaid the now deceased and Muchemwa near Delport Road when they were on their way to Muchemwa’s house. It is the State’s case that Charuzika struck both of them with an unknown hard object on the back of their heads and they fell down and lost consciousness.

A well-wisher rushed the two to ZRP Epworth and the now deceased was referred to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon admission.

Muchemwa later gained consciousness and was also referred for medical attention. A follow up was made by the police leading to the arrest of the accused person in Epworth.

Tapiwa Makore Murderers To Be Sentenced Today

The man convicted of killing seven-year-old Tapiwa Makore three years ago, will today be sentenced by the High Court after both the prosecution and defence submitted their arguments in aggravation and mitigation.

Tafadzwa Shamba was last month convicted of murder, while the boy’s uncle, Tapiwa Makore Senior, was found guilty of being an accomplice after he provided his house for the
commissioning of the crime. He too faces his sentence today.

The body of Tapiwa was found disfigured and cut into pieces, sparking far-reaching
outrage throughout the nation. Shamba confessed to the murder and this statement
was confirmed by a magistrate and accepted by the High Court.

He told the court that they killed the boy with the intention of selling his body parts to
a witchdoctor for US$1 500.

High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, sitting with assessors Mr
Chakuvinga and Ms Chitsiga, found Shamba guilty of murdering the boy while
Makore Snr was convicted of being an accomplice to the murder although the court
found insufficient evidence to convict him of the murder itself.

In the case of Shamba, he was convicted on the strength of the confession he made
with this being supported by other evidence. He did not only confess to the murder,
but made indications which led to the recovery of the boy’s lower limbs dumped in a
latrine.

Shamba also led police to the house where the boy had been detained. The police
recovered a container with illicit brew which Shamba had used to drug the boy and
other paraphernalia used during and after the murder.

In convicting Makore Snr as an accomplice, the court relied on circumstantial
evidence, after discounting his direct involvement in the murder for want of enough
evidence but the judge made it clear he was embroiled in the murder in more than
one way.

It is a requirement of the law that there be a causal link between the accomplice’s
conduct and the death, said Justice Mutevedzi, finding that Makore provided his
house to facilitate the commission of the crime hence contributed to the murder of the
boy.

In the final analysis, the court was satisfied that Shamba and Makore Snr, in one way
or another, left their bold and luminous foot prints across the crime scene.

Citizens Denounce Zanu PF Barbarism

Stop the unconstitutional banning of CCC political rallies! CCC Namibia demands free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections.

10 July 2023

Citizens in Namibia condemn in absolute terms the illegal closure of the democratic space in Zimbabwe barely 44 days before the historic watershed elections.

We have noted with great disgruntlement the banning of CCC rallies across the breadth and lengths of the motherland ahead of the much-awaited plebiscite.

Namibia district has the conviction that all political parties are allowed to freely campaign for their presidential, parliamentary, and council candidates without fear.

We figured out that only ZANU PF and its surrogates are allowed to campaign because they don’t have the political capital with the capacity to unseat the unpopular corrupt Harare regime.

CCC Namibia advocates for the promotion of a conducive environment suitable for an undisputed election on the 23rd of August 2023.

It is now imperative for local, regional, continental, and international observers to aid establish an even playing field as we near the crucial do-or-die crunch.

The vigilant external assembly has noted the unwillingness of the gold mafia government to give room for the organic and pragmatic leader, President Advocate Nelson Chamisa to reach his anticipated legion of faithful supporters. The police in connivance with the clueless ZANU-PF regime have successfully barred the famous political outfit from holding their rallies in Masvingo Urban, Chiredzi, Zaka, Bindura, etc. This is in contravention of both the electoral law and the supreme law of the country. Nominated candidates should be allowed to market their manifestos before the citizens to win big.

Besides banning political rallies, ZANU-PF has also turned rogue on the CCC supporters and membership. The desperate regime is busy unleashing violence on the political opponents as a sure way of deterring them from galvanizing support in the communities. At this juncture, we expect the state to prosecute those who are abusing the universal basic human rights during this election season. We urge the police and the courts to operate independently.

CCC Namibia demands the independence of all state institutions since they were not installed to defend ZANUPF looters but the general populace.

It is without a doubt that the judiciary, police, Zec, etc are taking instructions from the politically defunct Shake-Shake building.

The constitution stipulates that state entities should not be politicized as in the disturbing scenario exhibited in the chrome mafia government. We call upon the ZANU-PF morons to respect the rule of law and constitutionalism in the motherland.

Zimbabweans are exhausted from partaking in disputed elections. The issue of illegitimacy should be dealt with once and for all on the 23rd of August. Citizens in Zimbabwe are encouraged to vote big, win big, and defend big on the day in question.

Furthermore, the incessant banning of rallies and unleashing of violence on innocent citizens must be resisted with equal measure. Self-defense is enshrined in the 2013 constitution. It is no longer time to fold one’s hands in the face of an attack on account of politics. We are equal citizens hence we should embrace dangerous freedom fighting for justice, equality, and better livelihoods in our fatherland. Citizens should resist intimidation and torture perpetrated by ZANU-PF thugs. Shoulder-for-shoulder should be our strategy going forward. Resistance is a permanent feature of existence!

The current political settings in Zimbabwe do not reflect any potential free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections. Zec has continued to conceal the electronic voters roll from the various stakeholders and we are quite aware that it intends to manipulate the roll. We demand the immediate release of a verifiable and auditable voter roll to curb rigging in favor of the politically inept regime led by Mr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Zimbabweans and the universe know that the rotten party cannot win free elections in the country.

CCC Namibia condemns ZANUPF violence in Bikita, Chiredzi, Gutu, etc. Our party is a peace-loving institution but that should not be mistaken for a weakness. It must be clear to everyone that the party knows where the theatre of the national democratic revolution lies. If the violence continues, we will demonstrate our fury through peaceful protests demanding a level campaigning field.

We cannot allow ZANU PF to continue treating us as second-class citizens in our country of birth.

Right now, Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala has endured state repression since the 14th of June 2022 to date on concocted charges.

The Zinasu Five are still languishing in the prison cells for exercising their constitutional right to protest against the arbitrary arrest of Saro Wiwa and the illegal imprisonment of Jacob Ngarivhume.

CCC Namibia demands their immediate release. Political freedoms are guaranteed in the supreme law of the motherland. We advocate for the fundamental rights of citizens to join political outfits of their choice. Selective application of the law is not a viable option this time around.

In a nutshell, citizens should commit and dedicate themselves to prosecuting the national democratic struggle to its logical conclusion. Let’s organize, recruit, and radicalize citizens for socio-economic mobility.

Citizens are urged to vote for jobs for all, health for all, better livelihoods for all, quality social services for all, and a New Great Zimbabwe for all led by the Change Champion-In-Chief, President Advocate Chamisa.

Zanu PF Is Finished

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF is doomed, CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said.

Addressing thousands of CCC supporters in Gutu on Friday, President Chamisa condemned the escalation of violence in the country.

“Mnangagwa can’t stop change. Nobody can stop the wave of change.

We have received reports of violence and intimidation of citizens by Zanu PF agents.

Govt Shutting Pharmacies Over Currency

Seventeen pharmacies in Zimbabwe are facing the possible revocation of their operating licenses due to their violation of exchange control directives and government policy. These pharmacies have been accused of selling medical drugs at exorbitant exchange rates, ranging from $8,500 to $11,000 for a single US dollar. Such practices not only contravene regulations but also undermine efforts to stabilize the country’s economy and control inflation.

The issue of forward pricing and the selective acceptance of US dollars by retailers and wholesalers has become a prevalent concern in Zimbabwe. While some businesses engage in these practices, others have resorted to hoarding goods, exacerbating the situation. President Mnangagwa, in a recent address, acknowledged that some companies involved in hoarding had paid fines and admitted their wrongdoing. However, others who sought anonymity have promised to rectify their behavior.

If there is no improvement in their operations, these unscrupulous companies will be named and shamed by the ruling party, ZANU PF, during its upcoming star rallies. This move aims to expose those engaging in illegal practices and discourage further misconduct.

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has identified the pharmacies involved in the dubious exchange rate practices. Notably, Booties Pharmacy in Gweru and Greenwood Pharmacy in Kwekwe have limited their transactions to US dollars only. Other pharmacies, such as Blessed Pharmacy in Chegutu, Pineal Pharmacy, and Leecare Pharmacy in Kadoma, and Siegmed Pharmacy in Gweru, have charged at a rate of US$1 to $10,000. Several others have implemented rates ranging from $8,500 to $9,500. Greenview Pharmacy in Rusape and Central Pharmacy in Mutare have been identified as the most egregious violators, charging at an exorbitant rate of US$11,000.

The Ministry of Finance highlighted that these practices are not limited to the pharmaceutical sector alone but have become widespread in other sectors of the economy. To stabilize the economy and promote lasting price stability, the government has implemented various fiscal and monetary measures. The wholesale foreign exchange auction system, introduced to allow banks to access foreign currency at market-determined rates, has contributed to the appreciation of the Zimbabwean dollar, the containment of inflation, and the creation of a conducive environment for businesses.

However, the government expresses concern over market players who continue to engage in forward pricing and speculation, disregarding exchange control directives and government guidelines on pricing and the use of domestic currency. In response, the Ministry of Finance has stated that the identified pharmacies may face suspension or cancellation of their trading licenses. The government is committed to encouraging the use of local currency for domestic transactions and will take stern measures against service providers who violate these provisions.

Consumers have generally welcomed the move to name and shame the pharmacies involved in these practices. However, they believe that investigations should extend to top retailers as well, as many of them charge rates ranging from US$9,000 to $10,000. Despite the wholesale forex auction rate being significantly lower, retailers continue to maintain high prices. This discrepancy raises concerns about producers’ involvement in pushing up prices in US dollars, which results in inflated prices when converted at the legal exchange rate.

It is essential for the government to address these issues promptly and effectively to protect consumers and stabilize the economy. Increased monitoring, strict enforcement of regulations, and transparent reporting mechanisms will be crucial in combating unfair pricing practices and ensuring compliance with exchange control directives and government policies. By holding accountable those engaging in illegal practices, the government can foster an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth and stability.-state media

The Key Processes In Mining

Steps to starting from zero in the mining sector.

Just like every industry mining has zero beginning where you begin with absolute nothing or with little amounts of less than 100usd .

By nature mining is a very high expenditure business thousands of united States dollars are needed to run a successful mining business sometimes with no returns .

We are going to take you through a short but powerful account of how to begin at zero step by step .

Step 1
Be interested in mining stories read and listen to as many mining stories in detail asking keen and clear questions.

Artisanal miners have a lot of stories to tell each story has a specific detail that is clue to how you can start from zero . By this way you will be informally introducing yourself to it .
Befriend someone in mining.

Deliberately choose a friend who regularly goes to the mine be very close friend. By so doing you receive mining updates and stories for free . You will learn mining terms risks and rewards fast .

3 visit the mines regularly.
Now that you have a friend visit the mines with him regularly to assess the situation and listen to more mining stories from others stay there for a long time sometimes even 12hrs or two days continuously.
4 identify areas of need within your friend’s network.

At this stage visit with a secret book identify needs that would let you in . The easiest is food just buy relish for them for free and start asking direct question how can you be of help .

NB don’t over promise or over commit yourself if you don’t yet understand the risky .

Pause : mining is so risky and ugly the losses are fatal we have lost money huge amounts never to receive it back don’t let the “reward stories ” force you to sell valuable property or use school fees for your kids to invest these “reward stories are structured to lure you .
Lists of free entry points no cent just you .

1 use your own hands join the team with intention of raising money to invest back for those working join night shift before list what you want to do with the money . Below are inputs and values
A box of explosives sets 330usd
A drum of diesel market price
A compressor set 2000usd
Pegging a mine 3000usd.
Never mind the amount using your hands increases the chances of high returns .
2 link with an investor with huge financial muscles and get double share .
3 identify and bring an expert who improve production
Low income entry points in values
1 food and lighting 100usd
50kg mealie
Cooking oil 5litres
Salt
Relish
Torches
Rare cheap entry points
Buying food during milling of ore 400rands or less
Covering a member who felt ill or absent temporarily by some un forseen means .
At this time you have a vision what you want to do this is a list of what you can permanently do
1 be food and relish provider for as many teams as you can .
2 provide transport for life
3 provide explosives and diesel
4 provide compressor or diesel powered windlass
5 build tanks fir cyanide process

WATCH: UK-Based Zimbabwean Man Uses Unsuspecting Friend To Deliver Drugs In Peanut Butter To UK

VIDEO LOADING BELOW...

Woman Saves Unsuspecting Husband From Being Used By Friend To Smuggle Drugs Disguised as Peanut Butter.

By A Correspondent | Harare, Zimbabwe | A shocking case of attempted drug smuggling has come to light in Harare, Zimbabwe, after a vigilant wife discovered how a family friend had planned to use her unalert husband to deliver a package of drugs concealed within jars of peanut butter to the United Kingdom. The wife, who wishes to remain anonymous, has now confronted the family friend with details about the incident after preventing the illicit package from leaving Zimbabwe.

The suspicious wife had repeatedly expressed concerns to her husband not to take anyone’s parcels with him when coming to the UK. Sensing something amiss, she decided to intervene, ultimately saving her husband from potentially facing serious drug trafficking charges.

Days after intercepting the package, the wife made a shocking discovery. Upon inspecting the jars, she noticed an unusual plastic pack concealed inside one of the butter bottles. Realizing the gravity of the situation, she promptly alerted local authorities in Harare, providing them with the crucial evidence.

The discovery was brought to the attention of ZimEye news network, which is now urging the complainant to come forward and share further details of the incident. ZimEye can be contacted on the following numbers: +447426863301.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the attempted drug smuggling operation. Preliminary findings suggest that the husband deliberately hid the drugs within the peanut butter jars, using them as a cover to transport illegal substances to the UK.

Drug trafficking is a serious offense in Zimbabwe, and those found guilty face severe legal consequences. The authorities are determined to apprehend all individuals involved in this illegal operation and ensure that justice is served.

The discovery of drugs concealed within everyday items such as food containers highlights the ever-evolving tactics employed by drug traffickers. It serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The unnamed wife’s actions have not only potentially saved her husband from a life-altering mistake but have also prevented the illicit drugs from reaching their intended destination. Her courage and quick thinking have contributed to the fight against drug trafficking, and her cooperation with the ongoing investigation will be vital in bringing the culprits to justice.

As the investigation unfolds, the authorities are urging anyone with information related to this case or any similar incidents to come forward. Cooperation from the public is crucial in combating the illicit drug trade and maintaining the safety and security of the community.- ZimEye

Afro-barometer’s Pre- Election Survey an Early Wake Up Call for CCC

By Dr. Phillan Zamchiya

Dear Reader,

The Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) released the Afro-barometer survey on Zimbabwe on 10 July 2023.

Reader, the survey is not all rosy for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)’s electoral prospects in the general election scheduled for 23 August 2023.

There is off course a paradox in the Afro-barometer research as I unpack later.

However, my view is that it is time for the CCC to collectively reflect and put all boots on the ground in order to turn the tide. This is a better approach because even if the survey turns out not to be a true reflection of political dynamics on the ground, the CCC would have increased its margin of victory come 23 August. In short, they would have lost nothing.

An easier and self-soothing approach would be to bury one’s head in the sand and continue with business as usual. This is dangerous because if the survey turns to be a true reflection of political dynamics on the ground, the CCC would have done nothing and lost everything with no room for correction till the 2028 general election.

Reader, in a turn of voting trends, the survey shows a decline in support for the opposition and a surge in support for the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF).

If presidential elections were to be held a day after the survey, the CCC leader would lose to the ZANU PF leader. The survey signals that 27 % of respondents would vote for Chamisa against 35% for Mnangagwa. This means that the CCC leader’s support base has decreased by 7 % since June 2022. This marks the first decline in Chamisa’s vote since he became leader of the opposition. When Chamisa took over from Tsvangirai, only 16% freely expressed intentions to vote for him but this had exponentially gone up to 33% by June 2022. Also of significance is that Chamisa’s vote used to be far ahead of his party but the gap has closed to 1%.

On the other end, the survey shows that Mnangagwa’s support base has increased by 2% since June 2022. Reader, this turns the tide because there has been a systematic pattern in the decline of Mnangagwa’s vote since he took over from Mugabe in a military coup. At least 38 % of surveyed citizens expressed intentions to vote for him in 2017 and by June 2022 this had dramatically gone down to 30%.

Of interest is that Mnangagwa’s vote used to be far below that of his party [ZANU PF] but there is now some equalisation. This, as it stands, might signal a reduction in deviation politics i.e. bhora musango.

However, a significant number of respondents, 26% and 27%, refused to reveal their preferences for the parliamentary and presidential elections respectively.

This is not surprising in a repressive environment. Opposition supporters are more likely to fear expressing their political affiliation compared to ruling party members in authoritarian contexts.

Nevertheless, it is not a given that all those who refused to say their preference would vote for the CCC unless they tell us so.

The good news for CCC though is that this base of potential voters is huge enough to swing the vote in their favour and win both at parliamentary and presidential level, that is if they do the right things and the environment becomes relatively free and fair.

Reader, ZANU PF and Mnangagwa’s lead partly remains a paradox though because the survey shows that most people are not happy. A majority of respondents (65%) say the country is going in the wrong direction; a large majority (69%) say the economy is bad and 62% say the living conditions are bad and this constitutes an equal proportion from both the urban and rural areas.

An overwhelming majority (85%) say the government has performed badly in addressing key issues such as unemployment, corruption, the economy and managing the economy.

Why then would the same people still vote for a failing government and not for the opposition? I can deduct four broad answers from the survey results.

First is that some people do not believe that an election under the current authoritarian environment can result in a change of government. From the survey, a majority, 54% of respondents, do not believe that an election can remove the badly performing ZANU PF leaders.

Second, a significant number, 49% of respondents, believe the announced results will not reflect the counted votes. It reminds me of Joseph Stalin’s attributed statement that ‘It’s not the people who vote that count, it’s the people who count the votes’.

Third, about six in 10 (59%) fear that they will become victims of political violence during elections. Consequently, some people vote to ensure ‘peace’ in communities given that 50% of respondents said past elections have led to violence in their neighbourhood.

This shows us that without the needed political and democratising reforms, citizens can see elections as a mere ritual that fail to express the people’s will.

Fourth, the bad performance by ZANU PF does not automatically lead to the transfer of votes to CCC. The CCC has to convince the electorate that it has better socio-economic policies, a more democratic culture and the stamina to govern.

Reader, rehashing ZANU PF’s naked failures is not enough. For now, I have stated my case and it is up to the CCC to unleash a robust and tectonic institutional response on the ground.

Tempers Flare At ZEC Meeting Over Voters Roll

Tempers flared yesterday during the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Harare Metropolitan provincial multi-party liaison committee meeting after opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party candidates accused the electoral body of secretly availing the voters roll to Zanu PF candidates.

ZEC almost lost control of the meeting as CCC and Zanu PF candidates traded heated verbal accusations.

The ruling party candidates courted CCC’s ire after rubbishing the opposition’s demand to access the voters roll ahead of the August 23 elections.

During the meeting, CCC candidates claimed that Zanu PF candidates had access to a copy of the electronic voters roll, while their efforts to obtain the document were in vain, which they said was in violation of the Electoral Act.

Skirmishes also erupted at the meeting after CCC candidates demanded the arrest of some candidates whom they accused of fraudulently registering as the opposition party’s candidates which resulted in the party fielding double candidates in some constituencies.

CCC deputy secretary for elections Ellen Shiriyendenga said unresolved issues were triggering contentions among political stakeholders.

“We were hoping that the issues of the voters roll will be addressed considering our Constitution clearly says that when a candidate is duly nominated, (they are) then entitled to access the voters roll,” Shiriyedenga said.

“It’s important that people have access to the voters roll so that they have a structured campaign considering that we had an inspection that had anomalies recently.”

She said it was important for the candidates to know that all the problems were addressed when they access the voters roll.

“Unfortunately, Zec’s response was that as Harare province, they haven’t received the voters roll from the head office, stating that they will advise us when they receive it,” Shiriyedenga added.

Contacted for comment, ZEC chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana said the issue of the voters roll was addressed by Zec deputy chairperson Rodney Simukai Kiwa during his address to election observers last week.

The meeting was, however, not open to unaccredited journalists.

“The issue of the voters roll was clearly addressed by the deputy chair when he addressed election observers,” Silaigwana said.

Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the ruling party was satisfied with ZEC’s performance as far as the voters roll was concerned.

“Zanu PF is happy with what ZEC is doing. Nhamo yemumwe hairambirwi sadza (One cannot worry over another’s problem). Those who have issues with the voters roll know where to go. We are not the PR [public relations] desk of ZEC. ZEC is a State institution and is open to address every grievance brought to it. So we will not worry over the concerns of another political party,” Mutsvangwa said.

After the multi-party liaison committee meeting, CCC candidates pressured police to arrest some candidates whom it accuses of fraudulently filing papers at the nomination court as CCC candidates, resulting in some skirmishes.

Police had to whisk away Harare South candidate Trouble Hasha and Terrence Khumbula of Hunyani constituency, who were accused of fraudulently submitting their nomination papers as CCC candidates.

CCC has since filed charges against several candidates whom it accuses of fraudulently filing papers at the nomination court.

Shiriyedenga said: “Whenever there are unresolved issues, there is bound to be contention and anger among people. What caused the contention after the meeting is that we have some people who fraudulently and misrepresented CCC and signed nomination papers (purporting to be) members of CCC and for some reasons, they were here in this meeting and this remains an unsolved issue despite that we wrote to ZEC.”

Meanwhile, CCC announced late last night that ZEC had given it the voters roll.

“BREAKING: After months of demanding, litigating, and exerting political pressure, the @CCCZimbabwe has finally obtained a copy of the voters’ roll from @ZECzim,” the party announced on Twitter.

Leaked Police Memo: Police Hunt Down Culprit

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation to determine how an internal memorandum directed to police commanders over harmonised elections was leaked to the media and the public.

In a statement released on Monday, ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations have commenced to identify the culprit who leaked the memorandum and the motive behind it.

“The ZRP has taken note of an internal memorandum directed to Police commanders from Commander 2023 harmonised elections which was leaked to the media.

The ZRP advises the public and the media that the leaked memorandum was a communication guide that was meant for police commanders, not for public or media consumption.

We do not condone leakage of internal memoranda by unruly elements within the system.
The ZRP is now conducting investigations with the view of identifying the culprit and finding the motive behind it.

According to the leaked memo, provincial police commanders were instructed to allow opposition political parties to hold their rallies.

Police headquarters sent the memorandum to officers commanding police provinces and officers commanding the Support Unit, directing them that if they had objections, to consult their superiors before blocking opposition political events.

The memo was copied to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Director of Police Intelligence, and police chiefs.

This comes as the Officer Commanding Bindura District blocked the country’s main opposition party, CCC, from holding its campaign launch in Bindura on Sunday.

Masiyiwa Emphasizes: I Never Joined Guti’s ZAOGA

“I was not a member of his congregation, and never became a member,” says Strive Masiyiwa, as he clears the air on the man whose church claims he once joined it.

Following this development after his death, ZAOGA church members are now set to scramble for a piece of Ezekiel Guti’s corpse for magic powers, per the late Archbishop’s teachings, just as the raped kids he oppressed continue to suffer.

By Simba Chikanza | Econet Wireless founder Strive Masiyiwa never joined the late controversial church leader, Ezekiel Guti. I was there when even Guti’s own personal doctor of over 35 years to date was disgusted by the preacher to the point of loathing touching the ZAOGA owner’s vehicles whenever offered for transport.

Guti looked for Strive, an established businessman, but he looked away from the kids his convicted brother, pastor Nelson Guti, raped and who he (Ezekiel) later even trafficked to Canada. He neither looked for the suffering public so to refund them their RBZ money he took. I was there in ZAOGA when Ezekiel Guti sent an emisary to Strive Masiyiwa’s home trying to lure him to the cult, in events that led to Ezekiel Guti assigning the businessman a role at his so called inter-denominational business grouping, ACBF, where I played the piano for them around the time of my A Levels. Before getting to Masiyiwa, Guti had on numerous occasions personally tried to recruit his doctor, who is my blood brother. But Masiyiwa did not and has never joined the preacher’s church, contrary to various attempts by the institution to claim credits for Econet Wireless’ success.

I remember Strive, at ACBF, where I played the piano for him at Raylton Club with Nicholas Vingirai, Mr. Munowenyu, Mr. Jacha etc. Of course, Masiyiwa was just one of those promising business people (including my brother, his personal doctor) who Guti used to target so that their successes become associated with him. After meetings, behind the scenes, pastors would be busy campaigning to new comers claiming that all the successful men and women in the country are or were Guti’s spiritual kids. So many of these were used to think it’s Guti’s “monopoly with the creator” that’s made it all work in their-already-God-given success.

I clashed with my brother over his disgust for Guti which was to the point that he would never touch any of the man’s cars. My brother, Ian, made it clear that despite wearing white suits and flashing Biblical scriptures, Guti was in fact a criminal we as a family should never be associated with.

“I know big sister keeps taking you to Guti’s church, but you should know that when he’s with me, he is so ungodly that he keeps boasting about how many cars and how many houses he has,” my brother, Ian, who ZAOGA officials know well as his personal doctor, a consultant rheumatologist, told me as a teen of the many times when Guti would violate his private space and try to recruit the specialist to his church cult. (It can only be immoral in my view, for a sickly patient to attempt manipulating their own doctor and twist their will/use up their private time.) This being outside, was no patient-to-doctor convo, but was clearly an invasive preacher-to-recruit chat.

It would be years later that revelations would emerge that Guti has smuggled his brother, Pastor Nelson, a convicted peadophile to Canada, soon after his sentencing in 2004, and 19 years later there is not a word of acknowledgement by the church over the heineous crime, and none either to assure of the abused children’s welfare. The loud oppressive message to these victims is that their lives mean nothing as long as the rapist is Ezekiel Guti’s 2nd successor.

One of the worst revelations would be that all this while since the 1960s, Guti, has been contradicting the same Bible he peaches that prohibits corpse rituals. He would reveal that he has been getting special powers from the grave, and in one of his sermons say he smuggled limestone(skeletal stones) from someone’s grave.

Contrary to some who say Guti took away mere stones, the only cave at the mountain site he refers is known by local elders who used to warn us as we grew up in Bindura that it has real human skeletal remains, not stones.

Guti would say (audio):

“When I was in Asia minor, when I was in Ephesus, I went to the grave of John the son of Zebedee, and I took 3 stones from his grave, to put them in a cave in Bindura, that was the only man who died when he was 100 years, so. [SCREAMS SCREAMS].

“I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord, Amen!

“I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, Amen,” he said, much to screaming and shouting in affirmation as the church was instructed that this is the method of getting powers of long life. Following this development after his death, ZAOGA church members are now set to scramble for a piece of Ezekiel Guti’s corpse for magic powers, per the late Archbishop’s teachings, just as the raped kids he oppressed continue to suffer. Survey Predicts Mnangagwa Victory Over Chamisa

By- A study by the Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) has suggested that Zanu PF would win the August 23 harmonised elections.
The survey whose results were published in Harare Monday, said if elections were to be conducted today, the ruling party would emerge victorious.
The survey showed that if presidential elections were held today, Zanu PF would attract 35 per cent of the total vote while the opposition CCC would probably garner a 27 per cent vote.
According to the survey, 63 per cent of Zimbabweans say they are interested in the elections and will most likely vote in the August 23 polls.

Two More Trucks Burnt In KZN Over Foreign Drivers

By-In South Africa, two more trucks have been burnt by locals in KZN, making the number of burnt trucks 13 for what is believed to be a protest over the continued employment by companies of foreign drivers.

The N3 toll road at Van Reenen’s Pass in KwaZulu-Natal was closed for several hours on Sunday and reopened at about 12.30pm follwing the torching of trucks. Just hours later, a further five trucks were torched on the N4 near Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga.

The latest attacks on the road freight sector took place on the second anniversary of the July 2021 riots that caused more than R50 billion in damage to infrastructure and businesses and about 350 deaths. The 2021 violence and looting kicked off with protests on the N3 starting on 8 July that year.

Centre For Risk Analysis research head Chris Hattingh said the timing of the riots could be designed to send a message.

“Given that the latest torchings of trucks are taking place around the anniversary of the July 2021 unrest and violence, the intention could be to send a message. That the underlying frustrations and issues remain, and that critical routes such as the N3 corridor between Gauteng and KZN could again be disrupted,” Hattingh said.

However, he said it was unclear at this stage if this amounted to sabotage as the recent attacks were “not intense and sustained enough”.

On Monday, Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police were still at the scene where five trucks were set alight on the N4 at about 1am on Sunday.

“We don’t know the motive. It is alleged that two vehicles came in and stopped those particular trucks, instructed the drivers to get out of the trucks and then they set the trucks alight,” Mohlala said.

“For now we have not arrested anyone, we are still on the scene and would advise motorists coming from Pretoria towards Nelspruit to utilise the Schoemanskloof turn-off, and they need to drive with caution. We are continuing with our investigation.”

In KZN the police said said a gang of armed men had forced six trucks to stop their vehicles on Van Reenens Pass at about 10pm on Saturday night.

“They then set all six trucks alight, causing the roadway to be closed to traffic. No injuries were reported. At this stage the motive for the attack is unknown,” Naicker said.

Van Reenen detectives were investigating a case of malicious damage to property and a large police deployment, including the public order policing unit, was monitoring the situation.

Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane said the N3 had reopened at about 12.30pm on Sunday after a long clean-up overnight in misty conditions.

“We commend the work done by law enforcement who are ensuring no further incidents take place in the area. Police have also confirmed that they are investigating the perpetrators behind this barbaric act. We view it as barbaric because it is tantamount to economic sabortage, ” he said.

Ncalane said the provincial government was in discussions with the logistics sector and grievances could be raised in this forum rather than through violent protests. He said police were monitoring the route to prevent further incidents.

Road Freight Association CEO Gavin Kelly said the organisation could not accept the scenes that played out the N3 highway “as anything else but a coordinated attack on the road freight sector”.

“Both the specific spot on the N3, as well as the timing, were chosen to cause the best outcome in terms of mayhem and disruption,” Kelly said.

The road freight sector transports 80% of goods moved in and around South Africa, as well as cargo moving to and from countries that trade with international markets and use the country’s ports for their imports and exports.

“Those who attack the road leg of logistics supply chains need to understand that the long-term effects will bring greater destruction to employment levels, and will result in further job losses, as businesses and supporting sectors shrink and trade moves away from South Africa,” Kelly said.

He said the incident was a “ruthless attack on the road freight supply chain” and the effects, including on the economy, business confidence, security, law and order and corridor movement, were far reaching.

“With regard to freight and the economy of South Africa, without trucks, South Africa stops,” he said.

Whilst the immediate short-term losses will run into millions of rands – including the cost of vehicles, cargo, personal effects, road damage, EMS response, delays in movement and shipping penalties – the long-term impact will be felt in terms of increased security costs into the cost of logistic, higher insurance premiums, higher Sasria (South African Special Risk Insurance Association) cover premiums, higher toll fees, less freight movement through South Africa, closure of freight companies and loss of jobs.”

The latest incidents come after two trucks were torched on the N2 South of Durban allegedly during service delivery protests last weekend.

Notorious CoS Scammer Wetifa Chapu Arrested in Harare

By Farai D Hove | In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement and justice, the notorious CoS scammer Wetifa Chapu has been apprehended in Harare.

The arrest comes following an in-depth investigation conducted by ZimEye since 2019.

Wetifa Chapu

Last month, ZimEye resumed the probe into the operations of Wetifa Chapu, a UK-based nurse known for her fraudulent activities.

One of Chapu’s victims, an elderly mother, had approached her in March, seeking assistance in finding a nurse aide job for her relative. Wetifa Chapu, promising to supply a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), took GBP4300 from the trusting woman. However, shortly after receiving the money, Chapu cut off all communication with her victim, leaving the elderly mother devastated and financially exploited.

ZimEye’s investigation shed light on Chapu’s deceitful practices and exposed her to the public eye. Notably, this is not the first time Wetifa Chapu’s fraudulent activities have come to light. Four years ago, ZimEye had uncovered another money-related issue involving Chapu, leading to her eventual refund of the victim’s funds.

In a bid to ensure justice prevails, ZimEye has urged anyone else who may have fallen victim to Wetifa Chapu’s scams to come forward and report their experiences. Victims are encouraged to reach out to ZimEye directly or contact the Harare Central Police Station to provide information and support the ongoing investigation.

The arrest of Wetifa Chapu marks a significant milestone in the fight against fraud and exploitation of CoS papere. It serves as a reminder that no one is above the law, regardless of their location or previous actions.

Police Launch Manhunt for Kenneth Chitiyo aka “Hi Chihera” in Attempted Murder Case

By A Correspondent | Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. – Authorities in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for Kenneth Chitiyo, also known as “Hi Chihera,” in connection with an attempted murder case. Chitiyo, who also goes by the names Bevy or baba Prince, hails from Emakhandeni, Bulawayo, but is believed to be residing in Katanga, Norton, unless he has recently moved. His ancestral home is Kumusha ndekwaChiendambuya.

The 33-year-old man is wanted by the police after he allegedly traveled from Norton to Bulawayo with the intention of killing his mother. Fortunately, his plans were foiled when his efforts were disturbed, and he managed to escape before neighbors apprehended him. Reports suggest that Chitiyo was armed with an axe and other weapons during the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, a stroke of luck and a courageous act by his mother prevented a tragedy. As Chitiyo attempted to harm his mother with the axe, she managed to push him away, causing the weapon to fall from his hand. In a desperate act, he tried to choke her, but her screams drew the attention of the neighbors, forcing him to flee the scene. In his haste, Chitiyo dropped a satchel containing his passports and other documents, indicating a potential intention to flee across the border following the crime.

Local authorities are urging anyone with information about Chitiyo’s whereabouts or any sightings of him to come forward immediately. The Luveve Police Station has provided contact information for individuals to report any relevant information. Those with information can contact the station at 0292 520802 or call +263775555049.

The police have classified this case as attempted murder and consider Chitiyo to be potentially dangerous. Members of the public are advised not to approach him directly but instead report any information to the authorities.

As the investigation into this incident unfolds, the police are actively searching for Chitiyo, aiming to bring him to justice and ensure the safety of the community. The cooperation of the public in providing any information related to his whereabouts is greatly appreciated.

Mnangagwa Sends Chilling Warning To Businesspeople

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says he will name and shame economic saboteurs while urging citizens to always unite in developing their country.

The President, who was addressing thousands of ZANU PF supporters who attended the ruling party’s Mashonaland West provincial rally in Magunje this Saturday, gave a seven-day ultimatum to businesses hoarding goods and engaging in malpractices to sabotage the economy.

“There are some businesses that are fighting us, especially soon after we proclaimed dates for elections, prices started going up, and our Zimbabwean dollar was under attack, with the rate going up.

“This was done by those who wanted the people to turn against the Government. We sought to find out who these people are, but I am going to name them next week in Zaka. Today, I want to warn them by saying that I sent my people to them about two days ago, to tell them that what they are doing is not right. So, you have seven days to make corrections. On the seventh day, I am going to name and shame those that do not shape up. Those who are hoarding and those who are manipulating prices,” said President Mnangagwa.

The President said some businesses have already been sanctioned over such shenanigans, while the Government is also continuing to engage them.

“We strongly warned some of them that we would name and shame them, they then begged us not to expose them by saying that our ZANU PF people would not buy from them, they chose to pay some fines and agreed to change their ways. On Tuesday, we will hear more about some of these businesses,” he said.

“So, those who are hoarding and manipulating the economy, I say to you, this is Zimbabwe and it is for Zimbabweans, either you are with us or you are not with us. If you are with us, we will support you and give you the leeway to do business. But if you are not with us, business rako richaunyana (your business will crumble).”

The President donated 1 000 computers to schools in Mashonaland West, 65 000 packets of seeds which were distributed to people who attended the rally and urged ZANU PF supporters to vote for the ruling party on August 23.-ZBC News

Zanu PF Doomed

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF is doomed, CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said.

Addressing thousands of CCC supporters in Gutu on Friday, President Chamisa condemned the escalation of violence in the country.

“Mnangagwa can’t stop change. Nobody can stop the wave of change.

We have received reports of violence and intimidation of citizens by Zanu PF agents.

It is sad to note that Pupurai Togarepi a Member of Parliament is inciting violence,” said President Chamisa.

He also wrote on Twitter :
” Without allowing basic rights and freedoms for the citizens and opposition, the incumbent is doomed! All oppressors, kindly take this advice. You will thank me later!!”

Citizens Demand Sikhala Freedom

Zanu PF Supporter Bashed For Wearing Party Regalia In Barbourfields Stadium

By -An overzealous Zanu PF supporter was allegedly assaulted at Barbourfields Stadium (BF) in the Mpankweni stand on Sunday for wearing party regalia during the Highlanders and Triangle United match.

Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association (COZWVA) posted on Twitter:

Zanu-pf supporter heavily beaten at Barbourfields Stadium (BF) at Mpankweni stand for wearing a party regalia.

The case highlights the ongoing issue of political violence in Zimbabwe after the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change recently reported that its members were assaulted by ZANU PF MPs in Gutu South following a visit by Nelson Chamisa.

Zimbabwe has a long history of politically motivated violence, with incidents occurring especially during election periods. The 2018 presidential election saw several violent incidents, including a military crackdown on opposition supporters protesting the election results. The upcoming 2023 harmonised elections scheduled for August 23 provide an opportunity for the government to demonstrate its commitment to reducing political violence and promoting a peaceful and democratic electoral process.

Leaders of political parties, human rights activists, election watchdogs, and other electoral stakeholders have been calling for tolerance, peace, and unity ahead of the elections. The international community has also called for peaceful, credible, free and fair elections for re-engagement with Zimbabwe to be considered.

South Africans Torch 11 Trucks Over Foreign Drivers

By-South Africans have torched 11 trucks on the N3 highway and the N4 highways over the continued employment by companies of foreign drivers.

This happened on the anniversary of similar attacks, which kicked off rioting and vandalism in the province two years ago.

The N3 toll road at Van Reenen’s Pass in KwaZulu-Natal was closed for several hours on Sunday and reopened at about 12.30pm. Just hours later, a further five trucks were torched on the N4 near Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga.

Witch-Hunt For Leaked Chamisa Rallies Ban Memo

By- The Police have launched a witch hunt within its system following the leak of an internal memorandum directing police commanders to stop banning CCC rallies.

Police said the leaked memorandum was a communication guide that was meant for commanders and not for public or media consumption.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations have since been launched with a view to identify the culprit who leaked the memorandum and the motive behind it.
“The ZRP has taken note of an internal memorandum directed to Police commanders from Commander 2023 harmonised elections which was leaked to the media.
“The ZRP advises the public and the media that the leaked memorandum was a communication guide which was meant for police commanders not for public or media consumption.
“We do not condone leakage of internal memoranda by unruly elements within the system. The ZRP is now conducting investigations with the view of identifying the culprit and finding the motive behind,” he said.

Harare Man Arrested For Stoning Mnangagwa

By- A Harare man has been arrested and arraigned before the courts for allegedly throwing stones at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s motorcade.

Benjamin Mupombwe, 30 years old and from Epworth, appeared before Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on charges of disorderly conduct for throwing stones at Mnangagwa’s motorcade along Julius Nyerere Way in Harare.
Magistrate Mungosi remanded him in custody pending his bail application.
According to the allegations, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) was deployed on July 4, 2023, at the intersection of Julius Nyerere Way and Robson Manyika Avenue to control traffic while waiting for the presidential motorcade to pass. As the motorcade made its way through, Mupombwe is accused of throwing stones at it, resulting in his arrest.
In April this year, Masimba Graig Muganira, a man from Epworth, was prevented by State security agents from confronting President Emmerson Mnangagwa during a speech in the dormitory town. Muganira attempted to breach security and race to the podium to confront Mnangagwa, but he was stopped a few meters away and allegedly assaulted behind the VVIP tent.
In yet another recent case, Dumisani Dangirwa, a 43-year-old man from Harare, was arrested for insulting Mnangagwa, alleging that the ZANU PF leader was a failure and would lose the elections scheduled for August 23. Dangirwa was remanded in custody.

CCC Denounces Zanu PF Barbarism

We strongly condemn the deplorable actions of Zanu PF thugs, which include a sitting MP for Gutu South, Togarepi Pupurayi, who indiscriminately attacked innocent citizens in Gutu South following President Nelson Chamisa’s address to the community. In response, we have deployed our peace ambassadors to the area to provide assistance to the victims.

The individuals responsible for the violence are as follows:

Norman Wanga, Evans Mbizvo, Nyikayaramba, John Paradza, Zanu PF member of parliament for Gutu West, Togarepi Pupurai and his sons, Tadamwa Chiwara and Promise…CCC

Mnangagwa Doomed-President Chamisa

Release Wiwa, Ngarivhume

Rights Lawyers Demand Explanation On Release Of Convicted Rapist

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has demanded an explanation from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) regarding the irregular circumstances that led to the release of a convicted rapist from Harare Central Prison under a recent presidential amnesty order.

Bobby Makaza, a 59-year-old resident of Murehwa in Mashonaland East province, was released from Harare Central Prison on May 19, 2023, under a presidential amnesty declared by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on May 12, 2023.

The presidential amnesty benefited several inmates, including convicted sexual offenders, after President Mnangagwa issued Clemency Order No. 1 of 2023, exercising his prerogative of mercy to reduce the prison population across the country.

However, ZLHR lawyers Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Paidamoyo Saurombe, representing Makaza’s victim, have demanded a detailed explanation from ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu regarding the basis on which Makaza qualified for amnesty and subsequent release from Harare Central Prison under Clemency Order No. 1 of 2023.

Chinopfukutwa and Saurombe informed Chihobvu that Makaza had been convicted of raping a 15-year-old minor in 2018. He stood trial at Murehwa Magistrates Court in Mashonaland East province and was found guilty under section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Makaza was sentenced to serve an effective 16-year prison term on April 2, 2019.

The human rights lawyers pointed out that, according to section 12(d) read with 13(c) of Clemency Order No. 1 of 2023, Makaza, as an inmate convicted of rape, which is a specified offense, should have been excluded from benefiting from the presidential amnesty.

Chinopfukutwa and Saurombe have given Chihobvu until Friday, July 7, 2023, to respond to their letter.

Key Steps In Mining

Strive Masiyiwa Never Joined Ezekiel Guti Whose Own Doctor Loathed The Paedo-Protector

Povo should be fighting for reforms and free elections and not in rat race to win rigged elections

By Wilbert Mukori| Deep down most Zimbabweans out there know that Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC’s claim of “winning big” is just hot air. They are fighting for a reason to justify why they are participating in these flawed elections, particularly they also know that by participating they are giving Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating their own suffering.

Of course, they know it is insane to repeat the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. They have participated in these Zanu PF Mafiosi rigged elections for 43 years expecting Zanu PF to lose – they its another Zanu PF victory on 23 August 2023. They know they are shooting themselves in the foot by participating. What they are searching for now is some excuse for their insanity, for knowingly shooting themselves in the foot yet again!

“Boss we heard you since last year you have been posting the same thing, (Zanu PF is rigging these elections. CCC is participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. It is insane for povo to participate in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuate their own suffering.) over and over again. Tave bhoo. (We are now fine.) Now tell us the solution. What must CCC do? What do you want us to do?” shot Nyuchi in my WhatsApp group.

Of course Nyuchi is not fine, if he was then he would not be asking what CCC and the people should do. And so I replied:

If you are asking what is the solution then you have heard the message but failed to understand it. If you had understood the message, you would KNOW not only what CCC must do but you and the rest of the masses out there must do!

Let me start by repeating the quotation from David Coltart’s book (it does contain the essence of Zimbabwe’s political paralysis today).

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

There are five key points that you must focus on and understand:

that these 2023 elections just like the 2013 elections are “so flawed, so illegal” it is naive to think that Zanu PF can ever lose given the party has control of every aspect of the process. The only way to take away Zanu PF’s carte blanche powers is by implementing the democratic reforms. SADC begged MDC to implement reforms during the GNU and they were ignored. EU listed 23 reform recommendation in their 2018 final report and not even one reform has been implemented. Not one. So with not even a toke reform in place the “only logical step IS to withdraw”.

Worse still, both CCC and the people should not participate give the flawed process “credibility” and thus give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Zanu PF was forced to go into the GNU in 2008 because the party had cheated and used wanton violence. What the party has learnt since then was that it can still cheat and use wanton violence and get away with it PROVIDED Zimbabwe’s opposition parties participate in the elections. So since the GNU Zanu PF has allowed the opposition to win a few gravy train seats to entice them to participate no matter how flawed and illegal the electoral process got. Mnangagwa has even added the POLAD freebies for losing presidential candidate who publicly endorse the rigged elections were free, fair and credible.

So CCC and the rest in the opposition camp MUST NOT participate in these flawed elections for the two reasons in 1) and 2) above. They are participating out of greed, they cannot resist the bribe Zanu PF is offering in 3) above. Neither CCC, MDC, NCA, etc. can withdraw from this rat race “for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats,” confessed Coltart. It was the same reason – greed – that stopped MDC leaders from implementing even one token reform during the GNU. CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections and it is foolish to expect them to do anything else.

The ordinary Zimbabweans should not participate in these elections for the two reasons in 1) and 2) above. Other than the generous bribes and looting opportunities paid to Zanu PF ruling elite, top brass in security services, judiciary and the chiefs and the crumbs and scraps thrown to low ranking security services war veterans and other minions doing the regime’s dirty work the overwhelming majority of Zimbabweans get nothing from this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. Zimbabwe is a failed state and the masses are on the coal face of it all. It is insane for the masses out there to freely (many especially in the rural areas are coerced) participate in these flawed elections. Many are doing so freely because they have been conned into believing Chamisa’ s oxymoronic nonsense of having winning in rigged elections strategies even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections. No wonder the country is a failed state, a naive and gullible electorate will never produce a competent government.

“Zanu PF is not as invisible as you think. Change is coming. We are not going to give up our constitutional right to vote and will go down fighting!” fired Nyuchi.

Both CCC and Zanu PF have one thing in common, they don’t care whether the elections are free, fair and credible as long as they win. Indeed, they really do not see what all the farce on rule of law; constitution; free, fair and credible elections; implementing reforms; etc.; etc.; are all about.

Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies signed the 1979 Lancaster House Agreement agreeing to rules to ensure free, fair and credible elections. By the time they landed back in Zimbabwe the party had hatched a plan to deny the people a free vote. The party let it be known that if it lost the elections the bush war would continue and, contrary, to the Lancaster House Agreement, the party did not withdraw all its cadres from the field and they were used to reinforce it campaign message. It’s “One man, one vote!” promise to the people was thrown out of the window.

MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU because they believed they could win rigged elections. Chamisa and company have ignore the 2018 EU Observer Mission’s 23 reform recommendations for the same reason.

“We have to be ready, prepared to win elections under the most adverse of conditions, to be able to overwhelm, overpower, overrun Zanu PF even without electoral reforms,” Professor Welshman Ncube one of the there CCC Vice Presidents to Daily News last year.

When Mnangagwa stage the November 2017 military coup he expected to be embraced by the whole world as a democrat even after he went on to blatantly rig the 2018 elections. He still proclaimed “Zimbabwe is open for business!” and was disappointed the flood of foreign and local investor he expected to answer the call did not materialise.

Zimbabwe is now a byword for a failed state in which mismanagement, corruption and lawlessness are rampant, the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections is one key indicator of lawlessness. Who would want to do business in such a failed and chaotic nation, certainly not the shrewd, savvy and honest foreign investors.

It is interesting to note that Nelson Chamisa expects the international community to accept these elections to be ruled free, fair and credible, regardless of the mountain of evidence to the contrary, if he was declared the winner. He too will expect the investors to flood in! Again there would be no such flood because they know a regime change will not guarantee the end of lawlessness especially when the new regime too has no respect for rule of law.

How can anyone help Zimbabwe end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance when the people who should be fighting for the implementation of the necessary reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections are not interested in reforms because they believe they can have change without the reforms. There is no good governance without rule of law.

Yes Nyuchi go ahead, fight on. You should be fighting for reforms and free elections but you are insisting on having the elections without reforms because you believe in Chamisa’s Winning In Rigged Elections strategies. But come 24 August, please don’t even dare to complain that Zanu PF rigged the elections!

Businessmen Fleece Foreign Investors In ‘Ghost Deals’

This is a long running, twisting and now accelerating story of how legitimate foreign investors in our backyard have been defrauded by prominent local “entrepreneurs” Peter Midgley and Kenias Sibanda – tarnishing Zimbabwe’s reputation as a preferred foreign direct investment destination.

Brand new fuel courts have sprung up like green shoots along both approaches to the expanding City of KweKwe. But why has the most sought-after existing fuel court on Main Street been derelict since 2012?

This investigative journalist took up the challenge and the reasons are shocking.Combing a web of legal actions and court records dating back to 2007, the story unfolds.

The premises, a former Redan branded property, is ideally situated on 51 Robert Mugabe Way, which is the first thing you see after the prominent roundabout entering Kwekwe from Gweru.

This site has all the makings of a “money spinner”- auto showroom, workshops, fuel court, external garages, a kiosk and a well-placed takeaway stand, being highly sought after within the commercial sector of Kwekwe.

The massive development opportunity is self-evident to all and sundry who pass by – and they are many.

Court papers reflect that former prominent and wealthy KweKwe resident Peter A Midgley (and his family members Olive, Roland and Janet) sold the property to a company identified as Gondwanaland (Pvt.) Ltd. in April of 2007.

However, in August 2012 the unknown, dormant and clearly insolvent Hopetech (Pvt.) Ltd. commenced an action in the High Court claiming it had purchased the company holding the Main Street Property (among other assets) from Midgley in November 2006 for US $1,000,000.

Despite having no assets, or any apparent means of wealth or support, Hopetech and its 2 directors averred that it had paid Midgley the equivalent of US$600,000.00 at the agreement date in RTGS to the value of Z$1,680,000,000,000.00 (1,68 Trillion Zimbabwe Dollars) with the remaining US$400,000.00 or Z$1,120,000,000,000.00 (1,12 trillion on Zimbabwe Dollars) to be paid in 4 quarterly instalments thereafter.
No proof has been submitted to the High Court in support of any of these payments to Mr. Midgley by Hopetech.

The erstwhile directors of Hopetech are two KweKwe residents. Mr. Simba Matake (‘’Mr. Matake’’) – House number N110 Torwood, Redcliff. b) Mr. Lazaruos Paradzayi (‘’Mr. Paradzayi’’) – 10/8 Mbizo, Kwekwe. Mr. Paradzayi is also registered as the Principal Officer of Hopetech.

It is understood that both have been called into CID to be cautioned.

This would appear to be a clear sign that criminal complaints are in imminent.Sibanda, who claims no link to Hopetech, Matake or Paradzayi, is widely known to have funded Hopetech’s enormous High Court legal bills and more recently the criminal defense recently mounted for its two directors.

The November 11, 2011 agreement where Midgley ceded all rights to Sibanda over the Gondwanaland agreement is one of many obvious “smoking guns”.

The obvious question must be asked: “Who is the ultimate beneficial owner of Hopetech?”.

Surely not of the two humble directors of simple means? The case screams the apt legal phrase “res ipsa loquitur” – the thing speaks for itself!

Gospel Artist Hails ZIMURA For Assisting Mafunga Family

MUTARE – Veteran Mutare based gospel musician, Pastor Maxwell Teedzai has expressed his appreciation to ZIMURA (Zimbabwe Music Rights Association) for their unwavering support to the Mafunga family following the tragic passing of renowned gospel musician Diva Mafunga.

Mafunga known for the hit song “Endai Naizvozvo”, died in a car accident on 4 July while traveling from Bulawayo to Harare.

Teedzai also acknowledged the contribution of broadcasters such as Radio Zimbabwe, Power FM, National FM, ZiFM Stereo, and Star FM in nurturing emerging talent by providing airplay until artists gain recognition.

“We are all aware of how ZBC (Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation), Star FM, ZiFM Stereo, and several other radio stations have consistently promoted raw talent, transforming them into celebrated artists. He emphasized their essential role in ensuring inclusive access to media for locals and the discovery and promotion of talent.

“Diamond FM has discovered, nurtured, and continues to propel local artists from raw talent to stardom. Artists like Dorcas Moyo, Mutambikwa, and several others have gained recognition through this broadcasting platform,” Teedzai added.

Maxwell Teedzai, a Gospel musician born and raised in Dangamvura, Mutare, began his music career at the age of 21.

He released his debut 10-track album in 2009 and has since released four albums. His latest album, produced with the late Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi serving as the Executive Producer, was recorded live at Studio Pakare Paye in Norton.

The album, recorded by Tawanda Chibedura and mixed and mastered by Kabon (aka Munyaradzi Mucherechedzo), showcases the unmistakable influence of the late music legend. Teedzai hopes his latest music receives increased airplay, allowing radio listeners to be blessed by his lyrical compositions.

Reflecting on his journey, Teedzai fondly remembered Sifelani Chikwape, Muriel Tavaziva, Kanyemba Bonzo, Ndundu Chikara, Dj Shami, Rabson Umali, Hazvinei Sakarombe, Kudakwashe Machiri, Captain Saunyama, and other Zimbabwean radio presenters who were among the first to play his music on air.

Teedzai expressed deep grief over the void left by Diva Mafunga’s passing, describing him as a highly talented and humble role model for all artists.

“Diva Mafunga’s departure has created an irreplaceable void in our music sector and has inflicted a profound loss on the entire nation of Zimbabwe. May his soul rest in peace, and may the Holy Spirit console his family and friends,” lamented Teedzai.

Catholic Priest Dies In A Hotel Room, 32-Year-Old Church Lady Implicated

Police in Murang’a County are investigating a case where a Catholic Priest died in a hotel room in Gatanga sub-county on Saturday morning.

According to Gatanga sub-county police commander Lawrence Njeru, the 43 years old Joseph Kariuki Wanjiru was in the company of a lady who is alleged to be his lover.

They spent the night in the hotel only for him to fall sick the following morning.

The 32-year-old lady is said to be a worker in the same church the priest serves.

It is said the priest consumed chicken and some liquor on Friday night before retiring for the night.

The hotel workers said he had patronized the hotel for the last two years.

After the incident happened, the lady notified the management of the hotel that the priest was unwell and was experiencing bouts of dizziness.

They covered him with a blanket and put him in his car and rushed him to Kenol Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The lady who was accompanied by several workers of the hotel then headed to Samuru police post where they notified the police about the incident before recording a statement.

Njeru said they found the deceased’s body in the back of the vehicle half covered with a blanket.

“The body was fresh but had foam coming out of the mouth. We made inquiries and discovered that priests’ bodies cannot be preserved in a normal mortuary so we made arrangements to have it transported to Nairobi, accompanied by our officers.”

Njeru however noted that investigations had commenced to establish the cause of his death.

“We interviewed his companion and she told us she had had an affair with the priest for the last six years,” the police boss further noted.

Harare Motorist Approaches JSC Over Magistrate Bias, Favoritism Towards Croco Motors

Harare, Zimbabwe – A Harare motorist Kudzayi Mundangepfupfu has filed a complaint with the Judicial Services Commission against presiding Magistrate Yeukai Nzuda alleging bias, prejudice, and a violation of his constitutional rights in the handling of her criminal case.

In a letter addressed to the commission, Mundangepfupfu outlined several instances that she believes demonstrate the lack of impartiality on the part of Magistrate Nzuda.

She claims that the court showed favoritism towards Croco Motors, granting them a month-long postponement to find a witness, while denying a postponement to her heavily pregnant legal counsel due to a maternity medical emergency.

“Early this year Croco motors requested a postponement for a month to look for a witness they wanted to introduce after trial had commenced yet they knew 6 months prior that they would need that Witness and were granted this postponement.

“The Magistrate herself from beginning of my case would postpone dates because of leave or holidays she was taking for 3 weeks to a month at a time.

“However my legal counsel who was heavily pregnant requested a postponement due to a pregnancy medical emergency on the 26’h of April 2023 through a junior counsel as she was unwell to attend a court sitting. Not only was it declined even though maternity leave is her right but the Magistrate went on to caution me that my trial would continue in the next 3 working days with or without legal counsel which was a violation of my constitutional right, said Mundangepfupfu.

Furthermore, Mundangepfupfu alleged that she was forced to change her legal representation against her will, despite having the same lawyer throughout the case.

She said the magistrate’s actions prejudiced her chances of winning the case and interfered with her right to choose her legal representative.

Another issue raised in the complaint is the withholding of information and deliberate prejudice.

Mundangepfupfu states that the court failed to provide a fully transcribed record of proceedings within the agreed timeframe, leaving no room for verification or inspection.

This withholding of legal information is seen as a deliberate attempt to prejudice her case.

The letter also accuses Magistrate Nzuda of bias and lack of impartiality.

Mundangepfupfu highlighted instances where the Magistrate Dzuda prioritized her own interests over the fair request of her counsel for trial dates.

She further claims that external forces may be influencing the magistrate’s decision-making process, as she always stands down matters for a response at a later seating.

Moreover, Mundangepfupfu alleged manipulation of court records highlighting that the transcribed document provided to her before the defense trial commencement contained omitted information and manipulated content in favor of Croco Motors.

“After having verified the transcribed document that we were given day end before defense trial commencement on the 17th of May 2023 we noted that there was a lot of information omitted and some information manipulated to prejudice my case in favour of Croco motors,” she added.

Attempts to request amendments were met with delays and excuses, leaving the case in a state of prejudice, she said.

The motorist also attaches an application for discharge, along with the magistrate’s ruling, urging the oversight bodies to review them for possible misdirection, prejudice, and legal correctness.

Mundangepfupfu appealed to the Judicial Service Commission and other oversight bodies to investigate the conduct of Magistrate Nzuda and intervene in the matter promptly, as she believes the court’s impartiality and integrity have been compromised.

High Court Criticizes Magistrate’s Handling of Opposition Party’s Appeal Against Rally Ban

By A Correspondent| In a recent development, the High Court of Zimbabwe has faulted Bindura Magistrate Mary Msika for her handling of an appeal filed by the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party. The appeal challenged the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP) ban on the party’s scheduled campaign rally.

The ZRP had prohibited the CCC from conducting its rally, which was slated to take place on July 9, 2023, at the Brockdale Pfugari Open Space in Bindura, Mashonaland Central province. Citing concerns about the venue’s lack of infrastructure and potential security threats, the ZRP deemed it unsuitable for the event.

Faced with this ban, several provincial leaders of the CCC, namely Samuel Gondongwe, Agreement Kagura, Susan Mawire, and the party itself, lodged an appeal against the ZRP’s prohibition notice. They contended that the ban contravened the provisions of the Maintenance of Peace and Order (MOPO) Act.

However, Magistrate Mary Msika, on July 7, 2023, directed the appellants to provide the ZRP with a three-day notice period to respond to the appeal. She scheduled the urgent appeal hearing for July 11, 2023, invoking Order 22 Rule 10 of the Magistrates Court Rules, 2019.

In response, Gondongwe, Kagura, Mawire, and the CCC swiftly filed an urgent chamber application on July 8, 2023. They challenged Magistrate Msika’s decision, arguing that it contradicted Section 11(2) of the MOPO Act, which required appeals to be heard no later than one day before the scheduled public gathering.

The appellants highlighted the absurdity of the appeal not being heard and determined by July 8, 2023. They emphasized that any delay would irreparably prejudice their rights and render the ultimate decision ineffective. They further contended that the court’s scheduled hearing on July 11, 2023, could not effectively determine whether the rally should be held on July 9, 2023.

Subsequently, on July 9, 2023, High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi criticized Magistrate Msika’s handling of the appeal, stating that she had not promptly addressed the concerns raised by Gondongwe, Kagura, Mawire, and the CCC. Justice Chitapi set aside Magistrate Msika’s decision to defer the hearing and ordered her to immediately hear and make a determination on the appeal, stipulating a deadline of 12 PM on the same day.

This ruling by the High Court highlights the significance of safeguarding constitutional rights, including political rights, administrative justice, and freedom of assembly and association. The CCC’s appeal against the ban on their campaign rally will now be given due consideration and a timely decision to ensure the protection of these fundamental rights.

OWN WORDS: Ezekiel Guti Saying He Was Sustained By Corpse Powers

Recorded Sermon Raises Alarming Allegations of Ritualistic Practices by Late ZAOGA FIF Church Leader Ezekiel Guti.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A verified audio recording of a sermon has sent shockwaves through the religious community, providing compelling evidence that the late founder of the Assemblies of God Africa Church, ZAOGA, Ezekiel Guti, engaged in ritualistic practices involving the remains of deceased individuals. The recording suggests that Guti shared beliefs with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, alleging that supernatural powers could be obtained from the deceased. These claims align with unchallenged accusations made by the Mugabe family since the passing of the late President Robert Mugabe in September 2019.

The revealing sermon sheds light on Guti’s purported faith in the powers derived from the skeletal remains of the deceased, placing him in the same ritualistic grouping as President Mnangagwa. In the sermon, Guti explicitly states that during his time in Asia Minor, specifically Ephesus, he visited the grave of John, the son of Zebedee. Shockingly, he admits to extracting three stones from the grave, smuggling them back to Zimbabwe, and placing them in a shrine where he prayed. Guti expressed his belief that these actions would grant him the power to live up to the age of 100. Throughout the sermon, he passionately proclaimed his determination to avoid death and continue proclaiming the works of the Lord.

“I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, Amen,” says Guti in the recorded sermon.

Defenders of the preacher have claimed that Guti’s corpse-power-ritual is in the Bible, but analyst Howard Nyoni told ZimEye the passage cited of Elisha’s bones purportedly giving life to a dead person, is just one of many totally personalised mythological diary notes that are not at all and will never be an instruction of Biblical scripture.

These revelations have deeply unsettled followers of ZAOGA FIF Church and raised significant concerns within the public sphere. The allegations stand in stark contrast to the teachings and principles commonly associated with the late church leader. ZAOGA FIF Church has long been recognized for its emphasis on faith, evangelism, and community engagement, making these claims highly unsettling and perplexing to its members.

Given the gravity of the accusations, there is an urgent need for official responses from both the Guti family and ZAOGA FIF Church. The public eagerly awaits their statements as they navigate the potentially far-reaching consequences of these deeply troubling allegations.

It is important to highlight that this recording has undergone verification and thus holds significant weight as evidence.

These revelations also provoke broader discussions about the accountability and integrity of religious leaders, as well as the potential misuse of spiritual practices. The parallel allegations against President Emmerson Mnangagwa, along with the alleged connection to ritualistic practices, serve to highlight the importance of transparency and ethical conduct among individuals occupying positions of power and influence.

Croco Motors Under Fire Over Fuel Refilling Boob

By A Correspondent| Croco Motors is entangled in a legal dispute with one of its regular customers Kudzai Mundangepfupfu whose Mercedes Benz vehicle was refilled with diesel instead of petrol at a facility run by the leading car dealership, the ZimEye has learnt.

Legal documents gleaned by this publication show that Mundangepfupfu’s vehicle, a Mercedes Benz C 200 was refilled with diesel by a fuel attendant at Croco Puma Bond service stand on April 25,2022.

Subsequently, upon realising the error, Croco Motors engaged its resident mechanics to drain the diesel from the car, and after doing so, refilled the vehicle with petrol.

As shown by correspondence written by Mundangepfupfu’s lawyers to Croco Motors’ legal advisers, the vehicle, which has since been inspected by Zimoco, the car has multiple dysfunctional faults, problems which Mundangepfupfu claims only arose as a result of the refuelling mistake.

Unfolding events, as narrated in the legal documents, show that Croco Motors extended a Ford Ranger T6 vehicle to Mundangepfupfu for her use while attending to her dysfunctional car at the vehicle dealership’s garage.

However, Croco Motors is now demanding its vehicle back, while Mundangepfupfu insists she will not hand it back before the entity adequately compensate her for the technical faults diagnosed after her car was erroneously refuelled with diesel instead of petrol.

“Our client advised us that on April 25, a fuel attendant at Croco Puma Bond Service stand erroneously fuelled her vehicle…with diesel instead of petrol. Having realised the error, Croco Motors then engaged their resident mechanics to attend to the car,” wrote Mundangepfupfu’s lawyers on May 9, in a letter addressed to Croco’s legal representatives.

“We are advised that the Croco Motors mechanics proceeded to take the car to your workshop whereby they opened the bonnet and located the fuel supply line. They disconnected it, and began draining the tank by repeatedly turning the ignition…Our client has sought independent advice and was informed that the manner in which the vehicle was handled is not the standard procedure that ought to have been taken which was also confirmed by the Croco workshop mechanics.”

In light of the above, Mundangepfupfu’s lawyers further wrote, “our client requests a full mechanical report of the car through Zimoco to ascertain the extent of damage…”

However, in a letter dated May 17, Croco Motors lawyers, Atherstone and Cook, responded to Mundangepfupfu’s legal representatives dismissing her account of events.

“We wish to state that our client (Croco Motors) does not agree with your client’s (Mundangepfupfu) narration of events. The factual position is that your client brought her vehicle for fuelling and went straight to join a small (short) diesel queue despite that she is aware that the diesel and petrol pumps are separate,” wrote Croco Motors legal representatives.

“This was not expected of her considering that your client is a regular customer who is very familiar with the place and saw the clearly labelled pumps.”

Through the same correspondence, Croco Motors demanded Mundangepfupfu to collect her car which is still in its care and also return the courtesy vehicle it gave her for use.

Atherstone and Cook wrote: “Your client was advised to return the courtesy vehicle following the completion of the inspection of her car and she has refused to return the courtesy car.

“Considering that our client is not responsible to the issues picked up in relation to your client’s car, your client has no legal basis to continue holding on to our client’s car.”

However, Mundangepfupfu’s lawyers countered the demands stated by Croco Motors, and insisted she would only return the courtesy vehicle once her dysfunctional car is repaired.

Her lawyers wrote back on May 19: “Our client could not get the vehicle in such a state, she requested that the vehicle be fully attended and restored to the state it was before the fuel mishap.

“Consequently, she could not return the complementary vehicle, she awaits the repairs to be done before such handover as agreed between the parties.”

Upon Mundangepfupfu’s refusal to comply, Croco proceeded to file a law suit, seeking to compel her to return the courtesy vehicle. The car dealership has also indicated that it will also bill Mundangepfupfu for storage charges accrued while her car is in its care.

However, Mundangepfupfu, in her opposing affidavit, deposed on July 8 averred that Croco Motors had caused “extensive” damage to her vehicle.

“The applicant (Croco Motors) caused extensive damage to my vehicle so much that it has not performed as before their involvement,” Mundangepfupfu wrote.

“From the foregoing, the applicant has no right to disposes me of the vehicle…I am being inconvenienced by conduct of the applicant. I am further being put out of pocket to defend this application on a matter where applicant can address.”

The matter, which has now escalated to the High Court is registered under reference number 4169/22.

Fatal Nightclub Brawl: Man Dies in Brutal Chair Fight

By Dorrothy Moyo | A shocking incident unfolded in the late hours of July 9, 2023, when a 40-year-old man lost his life in a violent altercation over a chair in a nightclub. The tragic event took place at Dzivarasekwa and resulted in the death of Mamasa Magwarimbo, who suffered severe head injuries and succumbed to them upon admission to Parirenyatwa Hospital. Nathan Ziwini, aged 38, has been arrested and is facing murder charges in connection with the assault. This article aims to shed light on the details surrounding this senseless loss of life.

The Fateful Night:

As the night wore on at a popular nightclub in Dzivarasekwa, tensions escalated over a seemingly trivial matter—a chair. According to witnesses, a dispute erupted between Mamasa Magwarimbo and Nathan Ziwini, leading to an intense confrontation. The disagreement escalated rapidly, quickly spiraling out of control and transforming into a brutal physical altercation.

Tragically, during the altercation, Mamasa Magwarimbo sustained severe head injuries, which proved fatal. Despite being rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, medical professionals were unable to save his life. The loss of a human life over a dispute as seemingly inconsequential as a chair highlights the alarming consequences of unchecked aggression and violence.

The Police Response:

Upon receiving reports of the incident, local authorities swiftly intervened, and Nathan Ziwini was apprehended at the scene. The police confirmed the tragedy through their official Twitter handle, announcing Nathan Ziwini’s arrest and the circumstances leading to Mamasa Magwarimbo’s death. The victim sustained severe head injuries and died upon admission at Parirenyatwa Hospital.”

The Dark Consequences:

This devastating incident serves as a stark reminder of the destructive potential of unchecked violence and the grave consequences that can arise from even the most trivial disputes. A momentary lapse in judgment, combined with an escalation of emotions, led to the loss of a life and irreparable damage to the families involved. Such incidents highlight the urgent need for society to address the underlying issues that contribute to violence and aggression.

Preventing Future Tragedies:

In the aftermath of this distressing event, it is essential for individuals, communities, and authorities to reflect on ways to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future. Nightclub owners and management should consider implementing stricter security measures and protocols to diffuse potential conflicts and maintain a safe environment for patrons.

Additionally, educational initiatives and community programs aimed at promoting conflict resolution skills and anger management can play a vital role in reducing the likelihood of such incidents. Fostering a culture of tolerance, empathy, and understanding is crucial to preventing violence and preserving human lives.

Conclusion:

The untimely death of Mamasa Magwarimbo serves as a painful reminder of the dangers that lurk when conflicts escalate beyond reason. What began as a dispute over a chair tragically ended with the loss of a life and shattered the lives of those involved. It is our collective responsibility to work towards creating a society where violence is not the default response to disagreements. By addressing the root causes and fostering a culture of peaceful resolution, we can strive for a future where such senseless tragedies become a thing of the past.

They were severely assaulted and had their phones stolen while Muremba lost US$200 in the process.

What baffled residents is that the fiasco happened as Police watched and did nothing.

FAZ War: Zanu PF Candidate Threatens Local Pastor Over Chamisa

A recent incident in Chikomba Ward 21, Zimbabwe, has raised concerns over the alleged threat made by a Zanu PF candidate, Edunate Chungwa, towards a local Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ) pastor. The confrontation reportedly occurred after members of the church attended a rally organized by Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), a group affiliated with Chungwa’s campaign. While the details surrounding the incident remain contentious, it is crucial to shed light on the situation and its potential implications for the community.

The Alleged Threat:
According to various sources, Edunate Chungwa, a Zanu PF candidate for Chikomba Ward 21, allegedly made threats against Reverend Hannington Mukandiwa of the MCZ. The incident reportedly unfolded at a rally held at Unyetu Business Centre, with the intention of rallying support for Chungwa’s campaign. Chungwa later denied any knowledge of Mukandiwa when questioned by The Mirror, a local publication. However, a member of the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC), Abraham Mutomba, confirmed the incident.

Details of the Incident:
Abraham Mutomba, a CCC candidate for Ward 21 and a congregant of Reverend Mukandiwa, provided insights into the incident. He stated that Chungwa requested all MCZ members in attendance to stand up during the rally. However, only a few individuals stood up, which seemingly agitated Chungwa. Allegedly, he proceeded to accuse Reverend Mukandiwa of influencing his congregants not to attend his rallies. This led to an alleged threat, with Chungwa reportedly stating that he would physically assault Reverend Mukandiwa. Some members of FAZ, who were present at the rally, also claimed that the pastor was not registered within the ward and should face consequences.

Response from Involved Parties:
When approached by the media for comment, Reverend Hannington Mukandiwa declined to provide any statements. His decision to remain silent might be influenced by various factors, including concerns about personal safety or a desire to handle the matter internally within the church. However, Abraham Mutomba, the CCC candidate and a congregant of the church, confirmed the incident to The Mirror, highlighting the potential seriousness of the situation.

Implications and Importance of Addressing the Issue:
The alleged threat made by a political candidate towards a respected religious leader is a matter of great concern. It not only raises questions about the candidate’s conduct and the potential influence of politics on religious freedom but also highlights the need for a peaceful and respectful democratic process. Threats and acts of violence have no place in any election campaign and should be condemned by all parties involved.

Moreover, it is essential for local authorities, community leaders, and religious organizations to address this incident promptly and impartially. Ensuring the safety and well-being of religious leaders, regardless of their affiliations, is crucial for maintaining a peaceful and harmonious society. The incident also highlights the importance of promoting dialogue and understanding between political candidates, community leaders, and religious institutions to foster an environment of mutual respect and cooperation.

Conclusion:
The alleged threat made by Zanu PF candidate Edunate Chungwa towards Reverend Hannington Mukandiwa, a pastor of the MCZ in Zimbabwe, is a matter that demands attention. While the details surrounding the incident remain contested, it is imperative for the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and address the issue appropriately. Promoting a peaceful and respectful democratic process is vital for the well-being of the community and the preservation of religious freedom. Such incidents should serve as reminders that violence and intimidation have no place in politics, and all stakeholders must work together to create a society that values and upholds the principles of tolerance, respect, and inclusivity.- Agencies

Mutsvangwa Fires Blank Gunshots At Robert Mugabe Cousin

The Irony of Internal Dissent: ZANU PF’s Accusations against Chidhakwa.

Christopher-Mutsvangwa

By Farai D Hove | Zimbabwe’s political landscape is marked by intricate power struggles, shifting alliances, and a history of internal dissent. Recently, the ZANU PF party, known for its historical ties to former President Robert Mugabe, has found itself entangled in a web of irony. As the party vigorously attempts to suppress internal dissent from nostalgic pro-Mugabe factions, it suddenly finds itself accusing Robert Mugabe’s cousin and former Mines Minister, Walter Chidhakwa. This article aims to analyze and explain the underlying irony of these events.

The Scuttling of Mining Projects:

During the First Republic, efforts to attract investment in the mining sector, particularly from China, were consistently thwarted. Walter Chidhakwa, who served as Mines and Mining Development Minister during that period, played a significant role in stifling these endeavors. Several projects, including the Manhize Steel Plant in Mhondoro, were scuttled under his tenure. Consequently, the realization of the Manhize project remained a mere pipe dream until the Second Republic came into power in 2022.

ZANU PF’s Accusations and Political Ambitions:

In a surprising turn of events, ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa accused Walter Chidhakwa of hindering investment efforts in the mining industry from China during his tenure as Mines Minister. Mutsvangwa further suggested that Chidhakwa’s current political aspirations, particularly his attempt to gain power in Zvimba South Constituency as an independent candidate, were driven by tribal and regional sentiments.

The Dislike for Tribal and Regional Politics:

While ZANU PF attempts to paint Chidhakwa as playing the tribal and regional card, it ironically acknowledges that such tactics are generally disliked by Zimbabweans. The accusation itself could be seen as a desperate attempt to undermine Chidhakwa’s credibility and divert attention from the party’s internal dissent. Nevertheless, the electorate has historically demonstrated aversion to tribal and regional politics, indicating that ZANU PF’s accusations may not resonate as intended.

The Perception of Insincerity:

Another irony lies in the accusation that Walter Chidhakwa, who is now seeking political office, amassed wealth for himself and his family while pretending to be concerned about the welfare of the people. ZANU PF portrays him as insincere and detached from the needs of the populace. However, this portrayal raises questions about the party’s own sincerity and the motivations behind its accusations.

ZANU PF’s Resilience and Winning Streak:

Despite the accusations against Chidhakwa and the internal dissent faced by ZANU PF, the party seems unfazed. It has implemented measures to ensure resounding victory in upcoming elections and maintains confidence in its ability to maintain its winning streak. This steadfastness suggests that the party believes it can weather the storm of internal challenges while projecting a unified front to the public.

Conclusion:

The irony surrounding ZANU PF’s accusations against Walter Chidhakwa and its handling of internal dissent is evident. As the party attempts to suppress nostalgic pro-Mugabe factions, it finds itself accusing a relative of Robert Mugabe and highlighting his alleged hindrance of investment projects. The accusations of tribal and regional politics, dislike for such tactics among Zimbabweans, and the perception of insincerity add further layers to this irony. Ultimately, the upcoming elections will determine the political fate of ZANU PF and the extent to which its attempts to control internal dissent have been successful.

Is Unemployment Leading Cause Of Crime In Zim?

MASVINGO – Seventy-one per cent of inmates entering Zimbabwe prisons in the first quarter of 2023 are unemployed youth between the age of 15 and 30, a Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStats) report has said.

Analysts said this was an alarming report pointing to the possible escalation of abuse of drugs by Zimbabwe’s youth.

The report; 2023 First quarter prison admissions and discharges statistics report released in May 2023 says the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) recorded 12 558 new inmates, with youth constituting 71,1% (8 926).

Youth in the 20-24 age group constitutes 23.9% (2 810 males-191 females) of the admissions.

The 15-19 age group has 847 males and 79 females. The most committed crimes by the age group are robbery (311), theft (288), burglary (209) and rape (110).

The report comes at a time the national unemployment rate is 46.7%, according to a ZimStat 2023 first-quarter labour force survey report released on April 25, 2023.

Many youth work as vendors and drug dealers dealing in dangerous drugs like crystal meth resulting in high crime prevalence.

A total of 1 199 burglaries, 1 815 theft and 1 356 robbery cases were committed by youth between 15-30 years in the three months. Some of them engage in these criminal activities to find money to buy drugs.

Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) communications officer, Herbert Chikosi recently told The Mirror that youth, particularly the unemployed from high-density suburbs spend their time abusing drugs.

He said some desperate youth have resolved to boiling sanitary wear and drinking the thick white liquid extract to get intoxicated. Chikosi also said child marriages, teenage pregnancies and Gender Based Violence (GBV) are drivers of health problems affecting youth. …

Chamisa Is A Pastor Who’s Challenging A Power-Star, ED

*Zimbabwe Needs a Power Star, Not a Pastor: Mnangagwa’s Charismatic and Development-Focused Leadership

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | In the upcoming 2023 election, Zimbabwe finds itself at a crossroads, with two prominent candidates vying for the presidency. On one hand, there is Nelson Chamisa, a charismatic pastor turned politician, and on the other, Emmerson Mnangagwa, a power star with a proven track record in leadership. While charisma has its merits, Zimbabwe requires a leader who can effectively navigate the complexities of governance and drive the nation towards prosperity. Mnangagwa’s charismatic and development-focused leadership makes him the ideal candidate for this crucial role.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

Mnangagwa’s Power Star Leadership:
Emmerson Mnangagwa, the sole presidential candidate for ZANU PF, possesses the necessary experience to guide a country that was once in crisis towards a brighter future. Under his leadership, Zimbabwe has gained traction and witnessed progress in various sectors of the economy. Mnangagwa’s communication skills, persuasiveness, and charm have played a pivotal role in his ability to connect with the people and lead the nation effectively. His commitment to the best interests of all Zimbabweans, without discrimination, demonstrates his ability to unify and inspire.

Masimba Mavaza VAZET

Charisma and the Power Star:
While charisma can be an asset for leaders, it is not the sole determinant of effective governance. Mnangagwa’s thoughtful speaking style, coupled with his passion and relatability to ordinary people, has endeared him to many. He strikes a balance between being an engaging leader and a focused executor. His charisma lies in his ability to captivate audiences with his vision and then follow through with practical actions to achieve it. Mnangagwa understands the power he possesses and utilizes it positively for the benefit of his country.

Chamisa’s Pastoral Influence:
Nelson Chamisa’s background as a pastor-turned-politician should not be mistaken for true charisma. While some charismatic leaders have led people astray, comparing Chamisa to a power star like Mnangagwa is unjustifiable. Chamisa’s reliance on pastoral influence and confusion highlights his lack of leadership experience and raises concerns about his ability to effectively govern. Pastors can often attract blind followers, and this aspect does not align with the critical thinking required in political leadership.

The Importance of Performance over Charisma:
In today’s political landscape, voters seem more focused on a leader’s personality traits rather than their experience or policy positions. However, the real question is whether it is more important for a leader to win hearts or to effectively perform the job at hand. Mnangagwa’s leadership has been marked by tangible development and progress, evident in the positive transformation of Zimbabwean towns and infrastructure. In contrast, Chamisa’s emphasis on charisma and appearance risks diverting attention from the essential qualities and qualifications a leader should possess.

Deliberate Choice for Development:
Zimbabwean voters must recognize that politics is not a church, and choosing a leader should be based on substantive reasons rather than superficial charisma. Voting for a leader solely based on their pastoral charm disregards the ethical duty citizens have to consider a candidate’s ability to govern and solve pressing issues. Mnangagwa’s leadership demonstrates a commitment to the country’s development and the protection of its citizens’ freedoms and principles.

  • As Zimbabwe heads towards the 2023 election, the nation faces critical challenges and uncertainties. To secure a prosperous future, Zimbabwe needs a power star like Emmerson Mnangagwa, whose charismatic and development-focused leadership has shown tangible results. While charisma has its appeal, it must not overshadow a candidate’s ability to govern effectively and deliver on their promises. Choosing a leader based on charm alone risks jeopardizing the progress made and undermines the duty of citizens to vote responsibly for the betterment of their country.

Togarepi Causes Havoc In Gutu

GUTU – Zanu PF Member of Parliament (MP) Pupurai Togarepi accompanied by Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) was allegedly seen today marshalling violence against CCC supporters gathered for a party rally at Mawungwa Business Centre in Gutu South.

The violence saw an aspiring Ward 25 CCC councillor Martin Muremba, for Ward 25 and four youth being abducted and kept captivy for six hours.

They were severely assaulted and had their phones stolen while Muremba lost US$200 in the process.
Sources said that the violence started around 7 pm last night when Zanu PF youth stormed Maungwa and beat everyone they saw at the shops.

What baffled residents is that the fiasco happened as Police watched and did nothing.

The assaulted youth showed scars to the media inflicted all over their bodies. They alleged that Gutu Police led by Officer-in-charge Chief Inspector Cames Myambo refused to take their reports and chased them out of the Police post at Mawungwa.
Myambo said he is not aware of the matter…

Bulawayo Chiefs Bury Caps United

CAPS United suffered their third successive loss in the 2023 Castle Lager Premiership season after going down 2-1 to Bulawayo Chiefs on Saturday.

The Green Machine slumped further on the log to tenth place following the defeat.

Obriel Chirinda scored a second half brace for the home side. He opened the scoring two minutes after the interval before rounding up on the hour.

The visitors failed to get back into the game, just pulling one goal back later in the match through Clive Rupiya.

They also finished the encounter with a man short after Blessing Sarupinda received a straight red card for a crude challenge in the late stages of the first period.

Chiefs, who returned to winning ways, move up to seventh place following the victory.-Soccer24 News

DeMbare, Platinum In Stalemate

For the time in a row, Dynamos and FC Platinum played out to a goalless draw in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match.

The two sides, just like last season, could not find a way past each other and settled for a share of the spoils, this time, at Babourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Not even the fact that both teams came into the eagerly-awaited clash on the back of successive wins, could make a difference.

The only significant goal scoring opportunity in the first half fell to Tinashe Makanda, who blazed a free kick awarded to DeMbare after a foul on Keith Madera, over the crossbar.

Nothing could separate the two sides at the half time interval.

The second stanza also hadvery little in terms of goalmouth action, with the best chance falling to Emmanuel Paga right at the death, but the Ghanaian forward’s weak shot was easily collected by Wallace Magalane —in goal for FC Platinum.-Soccer24 News

AUDIO: Ezekiel Guti Saying He Was Sustained By Corpse Powers.

Verified Recording Raises Alarming Allegations of Ritualistic Practices by Late ZAOGA FIF Church Leader Ezekiel Guti.

Disqualify Mutodi Over Violence

Experts including LEAD president Linda Masarira have urged CCC to seek the disqualification of ZANU PF candidate for Bikita West Energy Mutodi who sought to intimidate and disperse opposition party supporters gathered for a rally by firing two shots on them on Thursday. The experts said as a candidate Mutodi signed an election code of conduct which bars him from engaging in political violence and intimidation. All candidates sign this code before their nomination papers are accepted.

Facts About Sanitation And Hygiene

Half of the world’s population still does not have adequate access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) which could have prevented at least 1.4 million deaths and 74 million disability-adjusted life years in 2019, according to the latest report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and an accompanying article published in The Lancet.

“With growing WASH-related health risks seen already today through conflicts, the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, the re-emergence of cholera hotspots, and the long-term threats from climate change, the imperative to invest is stronger than ever” said Dr Maria Neira, Director, WHO Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health. “We have seen improvements in WASH service levels over the last 10 years, but progress is uneven and insufficient”

Burden of disease attributable to unsafe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene: 2019 update presents estimates of the burden of disease attributable to unsafe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene for 183 WHO Member States disaggregated by region, age and sex for the year 2019. The estimates are based on four health outcomes – diarrhoea, acute respiratory infections, undernutrition, and soil-transmitted helminthiases.

Diarrhoeal disease accounted for most of the attributable burden, with over one million deaths and 55 million DALYs. The second largest contributor was acute respiratory infections from inadequate hand hygiene, which was linked to 356 000 deaths and 17 million DALYs.

Among children under five, unsafe WASH was responsible for 395 000 deaths and 37 million DALYs, representing 7.6% of all deaths and 7.5% of all DALYs in this age group. This included 273 000 deaths from diarrhoea and 112 000 deaths from acute respiratory infections.

These diseases are the top two infectious causes of death for children under five globally.

Important disparities were noted between regions and income groups. More than three-quarters of all WASH-attributable deaths occurred in the WHO African and South-East Asia regions, while 89% of attributable deaths were from low- and lower-middle income countries. However, even high-income countries are at risk, as 18% of their diarrhoeal disease burden could be prevented through improved hand hygiene practices.

While these estimates included four health outcomes for which data were available to quantify the impact, the true burden is likely to be much higher.

The impacts of unsafe WASH on health are wide-ranging and go beyond disease by affecting social and mental well-being. In addition, climate change is likely to exacerbate many WASH-related diseases and risks which are not fully captured in the present estimates.

To reduce the WASH-attributable burden of disease, WHO urges governments to take the following actions with support from UN agencies, multilateral partners, the private sector and civil society organizations:

Radically accelerate action to make safe WASH a reality for all.

The mid-term comprehensive review of the International Decade for Action Towards the Sustainable Development Goals saw renewed commitments from governments to accelerate progress towards the goal of universal access to safe WASH.

By quantifying for the first time the health gains associated with higher WASH service levels, the updated estimates provide strong evidence to support efforts to take these commitments to action.
Focus efforts on the poorest and most disadvantaged.

The burden of disease is largely driven by inadequate access in low- and middle- income countries, and national estimates on WASH access often hide disparities within countries. Access to WASH services is typically lower among rural populations and lower socio-economic groups.

Even in high-income countries, where access to safely managed drinking-water and sanitation services is generally high, certain marginalized communities are underserved and face higher risks.

Adapt national monitoring systems to improve data on population exposure to safely managed services.

Data on higher levels of WASH services remain sparse in many countries. Governments should adapt national and local monitoring systems taking into consideration the higher service levels called for in the SDG framework, enabling a more accurate reflection of the full burden of disease associated with unsafe WASH.

“It is clear that inadequate access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services continues to pose a significant, and preventable, health risk, particularly to the most vulnerable populations,” said Mr. Bruce Gordon, Head, WHO Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health Unit. “The health benefits, as quantified in the report, are immense. Prioritizing those most in need is not just a moral imperative; it is key to addressing the disproportionate disease burden in low and middle-income countries and among marginalized groups in high-income countries.”

To support governments, WHO also today released a new tool to model disease impacts from different WASH scenarios. The tool will foster informed policy-making, guide targeted interventions, and support strategic resource allocation for WASH programming.

Burial Of Wife of Dabengwa A Real Man Of God Who Never Touched RBZ Money, And Never Owned A Paedo Church Like ZAOGA

Contrasting Burials: Ezekiel Guti and Zodwa Dabengwa – A Tale of Controversy and Integrity

By Farai D Hove | The recent burials of Ezekiel Guti and Zodwa Dabengwa in Zimbabwe have sparked discussions and comparisons due to the stark differences in their legacies and the circumstances surrounding their lives. While Ezekiel Guti’s burial has been marred by allegations of financial impropriety, indifference towards victims of sexual abuse, and questionable associations, Zodwa Dabengwa’s burial stands as a testament to her unwavering principles and refusal to be associated with individuals accused of heinous crimes.

Ezekiel Guti’s Burial: Tainted Legacy:

Ezekiel Guti’s funeral was met with mixed reactions, with critics highlighting several contentious aspects of his life. One of the primary criticisms directed towards Guti is his alleged benefit from public funds through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), which he failed to repay. This accusation has raised concerns about financial transparency and accountability, particularly given the economic challenges faced by the country.

Additionally, Ezekiel Guti faced severe criticism for his lack of action and protection towards victims of sexual abuse within his religious organization. His brother, Pastor Nelson Guti, was convicted of rape, yet Ezekiel Guti failed to address the issue adequately or support the victims. Such actions or lack thereof have sparked outrage and shed light on the need for stronger measures to protect the vulnerable and hold individuals accountable within religious institutions.

Furthermore, controversy surrounded Guti’s invitation to Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, to attend church meetings in the midst of a brutal crackdown on unarmed civilians in January 2019. Critics argue that by associating with a leader accused of human rights violations, Guti’s actions contradicted the principles of justice and compassion that should be upheld by spiritual leaders.

Zodwa Dabengwa’s Burial: A Stand for Integrity:

In contrast to Ezekiel Guti’s controversial legacy, Zodwa Dabengwa’s funeral celebrated her unwavering principles and commitment to justice. During the 1980s, when her husband, the late Dumiso Dabengwa, was imprisoned in Chikurubi Maximum Prison for political reasons, Zodwa Dabengwa refused to be associated with the ritual killings perpetrated by some of her husband’s comrades. Her refusal to compromise her integrity and distance herself from such atrocities stands as a testament to her moral character.

Zodwa Dabengwa’s decision to remain steadfast in her principles despite the potential consequences serves as an inspiration to many. In a society where individuals are often pressured to conform or remain silent in the face of injustice, Zodwa’s strength of character resonates as a powerful symbol of resistance.

The contrasting burials of Ezekiel Guti and Zodwa Dabengwa highlight the importance of individual choices and the impact they have on one’s legacy. Passion Java Endorses Nelson Chamisa Signature

Controversial ZANU PF Propagandist Passion Java Contradicts Himself, Endorses Nelson Chamisa’s Slogan

By Farai D Hove | In a surprising turn of events, Passion Java, a prominent figure associated with the ruling ZANU PF party and known for his controversial statements, shocked listeners during a radio program on state-owned Capital FM. The self-proclaimed tongue-talking prophet, who has been campaigning for President Mnangagwa ahead of the 2023 elections, unexpectedly endorsed Nelson Chamisa’s popular slogan, “God is in it.”

During the radio program, Java was responding to questions about his peculiar tongue-speaking phenomenon when he made the unexpected remark. “Other things, let’s play, but when it comes to God, let’s get serious,” said Passion Java. This statement caught the attention of both the listeners and the show’s presenter, who probed further.

The presenter asked, “But what happens when you end up saying ‘kubonya mbambaira’? What will be happening then?” In response, Java astonishingly claimed, “Those are tongues. Do you know I spoke those tongues saying ‘Mnangagwa jump into the field,’ and two months later, after arriving in Zimbabwe, I ate ‘mbambaira’ (sweet potatoes) inside State House with President Mnangagwa. God is in it,” he added.

Java’s endorsement of Chamisa’s slogan represents a significant shift in his public stance, given his close ties to the ruling party. It is important to note that Java has been actively campaigning for President Mnangagwa, which makes his support for Chamisa’s slogan all the more surprising. The ruling party has historically been at odds with the opposition leader, making Java’s endorsement even more controversial.

This development unfolds amidst another scandal involving Passion Java’s colleague, Uebert Angel. Angel, a prominent figure in religious circles and known for his association with Java, was recently humiliated in an investigative documentary titled “GoldMafia” by Al Jazeera Investigative Unit. The documentary exposed alleged gold smuggling and money laundering activities amounting to billions of dollars, implicating a notorious Mafia group.

As a consequence of the Al Jazeera investigation, Uebert Angel’s YouTube account has been shut down, raising questions about the veracity of the allegations leveled against him. The documentary has caused significant uproar in Zimbabwe, with calls for a thorough investigation into the claims and for those responsible to be held accountable.

These recent events involving Passion Java and Uebert Angel have further intensified the political and religious landscape in Zimbabwe. The contradictory statements made by Java, endorsing Chamisa’s slogan while actively campaigning for Mnangagwa, add an additional layer of intrigue to an already complex situation.

As Zimbabwe prepares for the 2023 elections, the actions and statements of influential figures like Passion Java and Uebert Angel continue to shape public opinion. The controversies surrounding them have raised questions about their motivations and their true allegiances, leaving the public divided and uncertain about who to trust in this critical political period.

It remains to be seen how these events will impact the upcoming elections and the political landscape in Zimbabwe as the nation grapples with the aftermath of the GoldMafia revelations and the surprising endorsement of Chamisa’s slogan by a prominent ZANU PF propagandist.
