Mnangagwa Tricked Us- Zanu PF Member

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF youth league member Sybeth Musengezi has described the endorsement of Emmerson Mnangagwa at the party’s seventh annual Congress as null and void.

Musengezi maintains Mnangagwa is illegitimate after rising to power via a military coup in 2017.

With the help of the army , Mnangagwa removed his long time boss Robert Mugabe from office.

According to Musengezi, Mnangagwa has nothing new to offer to citizens.

“Instead of complaining how Mnangagwa & his associates tricked us in November 2017, we should rather quickly pick up the pieces and fight the monster.
Encourage each other to register then vote in large numbers. Young people where are you???
The despot must be removed in 2023.

We can’t continue to be led by a clueless octogenarian .
While they’re having another kangaroo meeting (despite a pending Court Case) to endorse Mnangagwa as their sole presidential candidate for 2023 elections, we’ve started consultations as young Cdes in ZANU PF on way forward.

It’s been 4 weeks now following up with the investigators with no meaningful response. The police know the suspects’ work addresses at ZANU PF offices but they’re reluctant to investigate them. Maybe private prosecution is the only option left in our also captured courts.

I’m now convinced that @PoliceZimbabwe is a captured institution . I was hunted like a criminal everywhere over a bogus & silly charge BUT my petrol bombing & my attempted murder suspects were only phoned for interviews which they promised to come at their convenient time,” Musengezi posted on Twitter.

ZEC Refuses To Release Voters’ Roll

Tinashe Sambiri| The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ( ZEC) has been widely criticized for refusing to release the electronic voters’ roll.

Observers have urged CCC and concerned stakeholders to push for reforms before polls.

Team Pachedu has pointed out that ZEC is receiving instructions from Zanu PF.

“ZEC is refusing to release the electronic Voters’ Roll that they are using for delimitation.

ZEC also says that they will no longer be providing future Voters’ Rolls on CDs, to make it difficult to audit.

Why is ZEC so secretive with the Voters’ Roll?
ZEC is plotting to exclude IDs, Dates of Birth and Addresses from the electronic voters roll as a strategy to prevent the auditing of the 2023 election roll.

This violates Sections 20 & 21 of the Electoral Act which explicitly demands this information,” Team Pachedu said in separate statements.

S_x Toys Land Bulawayo Lecturer In Hot Soup

They are harmless devices used by millions of women around the world in the privacy of their homes, but in Zimbabwe, possession of a sex toy can land you in jail.

A university lecturer was spared a prison sentence by a court in Bulawayo on October 27 after her parcel of three sex toys, sent from Germany, was intercepted by customs authorities at the main post office.

Shirley Tendai Chapunza, 27, was sentenced to a six-month jail term but magistrate Shot Game offered her the option of a fine of Z$60,000 (about US$95).

The Gwanda State University lecturer, of St Helens Road in Parklands, Bulawayo, was charged under section 47(1)b of the Customs and Excise Act which prohibits the importation of “any goods which are indecent, obscene or objectionable.”

The law under a section on “goods prohibited from importation” also bans the shipment of “any goods which might tend to deprave the morals of the inhabitants… of Zimbabwe.”

Prosecutor Sehliselo Khumalo told the court how on May 31 this year, the geomatics and surveying engineer turned up at the main post office in Bulawayo to collect a parcel sent from Germany.

Francisca Mapurazi, an employee of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), insisted on checking the parcel to determine if did not contain any illegal items or duty-attracting goods.

Mapurazi found three sex toys and immediately called the police.

Chapunza is the second woman this year to be charged for possession of sex toys.

Ayanda Unity Mponda, 23, was detained for 15 days before she obtained bail at the High Court in May after prosecutors charged her for illegally importing sex toys for sale in Harare.

Zimbabwe does not manufacture sex toys and all sex toys in the country, according to the government, were illegally imported.

Mponda is awaiting trial.

The two arrests illustrate the legal dangers female travellers who move with their sex toys face when entering Zimbabwe, if customs officials insist on a physical inspection of their luggage.

Zimbabwe’s morality laws, which also ban pornography, are some of the most archaic in the world. Critics say they are out of step with cultural changes and trends.

Freedom Is Coming- President Chamisa

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said the trip to Lesotho for the inauguration of that country’s Prime Minister was an eye opener.

President Chamisa implored all citizens to unite in the struggle for freedom.

“Traveling to Lesotho for the inauguration was both a breath of fresh air and re energizing.

It was beautiful to experience the wave of change that is prevalent in the Continent lately. However it reminded me, why we are in the fight for freedom.

The hustle & struggles I face in order to traverse the length and breadth of the country, the uncomfortable prying eyes of surveillance around me every single day, the silent gratitude prayer I say every time we travel safely.

Whether President or any Zimbabwean resident, every citizen deserves the right to live freely in their country without fear and to enjoy the simple pleasures this beautiful country has to offer.
Freedom is what we’re fighting for!!!,” President Chamisa posted on his official Facebook page.

One Down, Three Left For Marry Mubaiwa’s Court Charges

VICE President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife Marry Mubaiwa who was facing a charge of assaulting her former maid Delight Munyoro was yesterday acquitted by Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye.

Mubaiwa, had through her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, applied for discharge at the close of the State case, arguing that the witnesses in the matter had given conflicting statements, and that the State failed to prove a case against her.

Mapiye upheld Mubaiwa’s application saying the witnesses, could not be trusted, adding that their testimonies were conflicting throughout the trial.

This is the first case Mubaiwa has been acquitted out of four other charges laid against her.

She was convicted of trying to fraudulently upgrade her marriage with Chiwenga; and is also facing attempted murder and money-laundering allegations which are pending at the courts.

During the trial, the complainant (Munyoro) was exposed when she gave conflicting statements under oath, and under cross examination by Mtetwa.

Mubaiwa was accused of assaulting Munyoro when she met her at the school where one of her children is enrolled.

A Mukuru Employee On The Run After Stealing US$11 652

An employee with Mukuru, a financial services company is allegedly on the run after US$11 652 went missing at the company’s outlet at Murambinda Growth Point.

The matter came to light when Samuel Panganai (31), a regional supervisor (Retail) detected an anomaly and ordered the accused to attend to it on October 14, 2022.

However, on October 19 the accused allegedly did not report for duty and this prompted the regional supervisor to alert the regional manager Rodney Rondodzai who instructed Fawcett to do a forensic audit.

Fawcett allegedly realised that US$8 152 was missing and a further US$3 500 could not be found in the safe.

Efforts to get a comment from Rondozai were futile as his mobile was not reachable.

A police docket has since been opened at Murambinda police.

Manicaland Police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Chizondo referred questions to his assistant Wiseman Chinyoka who could however not be reached for comment until the time of going to Press.

A Police report seen by this publication show that investigations are going on.

Drama As Mwonzora Loyalist Lands Gweru Deputy Mayoral Post

A Douglas Mwonzora loyalist has landed the deputy mayor’s post in Gweru after two CCC councilors were ejected out of a meeting where elections were conducted for alleged improper dressing.

Ward 9 Councillor Edson Kurebgaseka was elected during a special council meeting held last Tuesday to replace the recently recalled deputy mayor Cleopas Shiri.

Shiri was recalled by MDC T leader, Mwonzora together with two other Gweru councilors, Martin Chivhoko and John Manyundwa for supporting CCC president Nelson Chamisa.

Kurebgaseka polled 8 votes against his CCC rival and Ward 12 Councillor Jefta Zvidzai who managed to poll 4 votes.

Two councilors, former Gweru Mayor Josiah Makombe and Ward 6 Councillor Godfrey Giwa were forced out of the meeting on allegations that they were wearing round collar t-shirts.

Ironically, there were MDC-T councilors in the meeting who were putting on sandals who were left in the meeting.

Kurebgaseka is expected to hold the deputy mayoral post until the 2023 plebiscite. The recalled councilors will be replaced in a by-election to be held on Saturday December 3, 2022.

Komichi Thrown Under The Bus

The MDC-T has dismissed a weekend statement by its national chairperson, Morgen Komichi, saying the opposition party had already fielded candidates to contest forthcoming by-elections after boycotting previous ones.

Komichi told NewZimbabwe.com the party had chosen representatives in all the vacant wards.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) last week announced the nomination court will receive papers for Binga ,Victoria Falls and Gweru by elections on November 3 while the elections will be held on December 3.

All the seats fell vacant after the incumbent councillors were recalled by the opposition party.

“This time around we are going to take part in the upcoming by-elections. We have already identified through consensus our candidates. We are urging Zimbabweans to vote for the MDC-T.

“Our party is the only political party which can bring real change in Zimbabwe. Our people have suffered a lot under Zanu-PF,” Komichi told NewZimbabwe.com Sunday.

But in a statement released Monday, the party spokesperson Witness Dube refuted Komichi’s position, thereby literally throwing him under the bus.

“The MDC’s position on by-elections remains that we will not be participating in any by-election until after our current restructuring exercise and congress preparations are completed.

“Reports by an online newspaper (NewZimbabwe.com) of the 31st October 2022 suggesting that we will be participating in the upcoming by-elections is not the correct party position, but simply statements attributable to our National Chairperson Morgen Komichi,” said Dube.

The spokesperson said the party’s last national standing committee held on October 26, 2022 had deliberated on the by election issue.

During the meeting, Dube said it was resolved that the issue be looked into detail by the party’s constitutional technical committee on elections, which is meeting November 1, 2022.

“This committee will consider our financial ability to participate in the by-elections given that our 5th ordinary congress is already taking place at provincial levels and soon to be held nationally. The committee ‘s details cost benefit analysis report will inform our position on the upcoming by-elections,”

“The MDC 5th ordinary congress will be used as a preparatory process for the upcoming national elections in 2023,” said Dube.

The spokesperson said the congress will elect the party’s presidential candidate and running mates, including administration of the candidate selection process for all parliamentary and local government positions.

Following the March by-elections in which the party performed dismally, the party’s leadership took a decision not to participate in any future mini polls, leaving the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and Zanu-PF battling it out in the subsequent by -elections.

In Binga , the by-elections will be conducted in Wards 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 and 23 while in Gweru the by-elections are set for Wards 4, 5 and 18. In Victoria Falls, polls are set for Ward 8.

For 39yrs ED Hides Skulls Of 30,017 Gukurahundi+ Own Victims And Now Guilts UK Of Killing 11 Khoisan CaveHunters

https://twitter.com/ZimEye/status/1587348970451378176?t=RC-IMxSxhjeoBcS1IlzfgA&s=19

London’s Natural History Museum and Cambridge University have said that they are ready to co-operate with Zimbabwe to return human remains that were taken in the colonial era.

The fresh statements come after a delegation from Zimbabwe held talks with officials from both institutions.

The Zimbabweans are looking for the skulls of late-19th Century anti-colonial heroes, which they believe could be in the UK.

But these have not yet been found.

The authorities in Zimbabwe have long suspected that the remains of some of the leaders of an uprising against British rule in the 1890s – known as the First Chimurenga – were taken to the UK as trophies.

The most significant among them was a woman who became known as Mbuya Nehanda. She was executed in what is now the capital, Harare and is revered as a national heroine.

In doing a search of its archive, the Natural History Museum did uncover 11 remains “that appear to be originally from Zimbabwe” – but its records do not connect them with Nehanda. These include three skulls taken in 1893, thought to be from Zimbabwe’s second city, Bulawayo, as well as remains uncovered in mineshafts and archaeological digs and later donated.

Cambridge University’s Duckworth Laboratory has not been so specific, simply saying it has “a small number of human remains from Zimbabwe”, but in a statement sent to the BBC it said it had not identified any of these as belonging to First Chimurenga figures.

The Natural History Museum, with 25,000 human remains, and the Duckworth Laboratory, with 18,000, have some of the largest such archives in the world.

These have come from a variety of sources including archaeological excavations of ancient sites, but for many the exact origins have been obscured by time.

During the colonial era, body parts were sometimes removed from battlefields or dug up from graves either as trophies or for research into a now-discredited scientific field.

In the 19th Century, phrenology, which investigated the idea that human characteristics could be determined by the shape of the skull, was very popular in the UK and other parts of Europe.

Phrenological societies would collect skulls to help develop the theory, which for some extended to racial classification.

Some researchers set out to show that skull shape indicated that people from different parts of the world were inherently inferior. Some of the archives that now exist in the UK are amalgamations of what had been amassed by defunct phrenological societies as well as private collectors.

Zimbabwe’s government believes that somehow the skulls of the country’s heroes ended up in the archives of a British museum.

Chief among them were spiritual leaders, including Charwe Nyakasikana, who became known as Mbuya (Grandmother) Nehanda as she was the medium of the revered ancestral spirit Nehanda. She was arrested after being accused of murdering a British official.Nehanda was then hanged and her body decapitated, it is believed.

What happened next is not clear, but in recent years, Zimbabwean officials have made several public statements saying it ended up in the Natural History Museum. With a death cry of “my bones will surely rise”, Nehanda became an increasingly potent symbol for those fighting against white-minority rule in what was then known as Rhodesia from the late 1960s.

Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980

A three-metre statue of Nehanda now stands over a major road in the centre of Harare. At its unveiling in 2021, President Emmerson Mnangagwa pledged to continue to call for the return of her skull and others from the Natural History Museum.

For Zimbabweans, the removal of the head “means that you have literally punished the person beyond the grave”, Godfrey Mahachi, who led the delegation to the UK, told the BBC in 2020 when the visit was being planned.

“If the head is separated, that means that the spirit of that person will forever linger and never settle.”

Despite not finding what the Zimbabwean delegation was looking for, both the Natural History Museum and Cambridge University say they are committed to working with the Zimbabwean government to repatriate what was found.

As part of its policy of repatriation, earlier this year, the Natural History Museum returned ancestral Moriori and Maori remains.

In a press statement following a recent cabinet meeting, Zimbabwe’s government said that the delegation that went to the UK was satisfied that “there are indeed human remains of Zimbabwean origin in the UK”.

“Government will spare no effort to ensure the repatriation of our ancestors,” it added.

The Zimbabwean delegation also held talks with the British Museum, Oxford University’s Pitt Rivers Museum, the University of Manchester Museum and the UK’s National Archives. But no details are given about what was discussed.

Despite the lack of success in this trip to the UK, the historical significance to Zimbabwe of the remains of Nehanda and others means that the search will continue.

ZRP’s Chihuri Fights To Rocover Seized Properties

The Supreme Court will this week hear the National Prosecuting Authority’s appeal against the removal of some of former police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri’s properties from the unexplained wealth orders, five months ago.
Chihuri resumed control over some of the properties he acquired during his 25 years at the helm of the police force following a High Court judgment in June this year, which ruled partly in his favour.

But other assets and those of his companies fingered in possible corrupt business deals with the police force remained under the unexplained wealth orders.

Dissatisfied with the lower court decision, NPA took the matter up to the Supreme Court challenging the decision.

A three-judge panel comprising Justices Susan Mavangira, George Chiweshe and Joseph Musakwa will hear the appeal set for this Friday.

All Chihuri family’s known Zimbabwean assets were placed under management in 2020, while he was required to explain his link with the companies and properties which the State listed for potential forfeiture.

Chihuri is being accused of side-tracking US$32 million of public funds into family companies and buying properties during his tenure at the helm of the police force.

In his judgment in June this year, High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda varied two unexplained wealth orders previously granted to the State forcing Chihuri to explain his wealth, links and interest in the swathe of companies, and that he and his family acquired large property holdings and other assets.

The unexplained wealth order granted on 11 June 2020 had four paragraphs deleted from the list and that granted a week later on 18 June 2020 had two paragraphs removed.

Justice Kwenda granted the State’s counter application involving certain companies that were in business deals with the police force. -Herald

Mnangagwa Breaks Mugabe’s Spending History

By-The ruling Zanu PF party President Emmerson Mnangagwa has spent more than the party had since independence.

The party has spent millions of dollars on party regalia and the welfare of its VIPs.

According to NewsDay, the ruling party spent ZW$1.8 billion and over US$4.8 million from January to September on staff salaries, gratuities, transport, health and allowances for party bigwigs, among other expenses.

The local daily cited a report of Zanu PF’s recently held 7th national congress.

The report states that in 2017, the party only had 45 vehicles and now has 531 vehicles, the largest fleet in ZANU PF’s history.

Read the report:

In 2018, the Zanu PF party acquired an additional 438 new motor vehicles bringing the fleet size to 486.

In 2020, the department of transport and social welfare received 15 new Isuzu double cab vehicles from the party treasury, bringing the fleet size to 501. Between December 2021 and September 2022, his Excellency the President and first secretary of the Zanu PF party, Comrade Dr Ed Mnangagwa donated 30 double cab vehicles to the party bringing the current fleet size to 531. Accordingly, the department of transport and social welfare remains grateful to leadership for this, and other interventions that saw unprecedented acquisition of the biggest motor vehicle fleet in the history of the party.

The report claimed that Zanu PF sources its funds from membership subscriptions, donations, allocations from the government under the Political Parties Finance Act and “investments”.

In the report, ZANU PF also acknowledged that the majority of Zimbabweans were not formally employed but earned their living from the informal sector, which it described as the “new mass employer.”

This is an indictment on President Mnangagwa who told delegates at his inauguration in 2017 that he would create “jobs, jobs, jobs.”

Top Radio Personality Dies

Radio legend Jeremy Mansfield has died at the age of 59, after a battle with liver cancer.

A close friend and former colleague Samantha Cowen confirmed Mansfield’s death on Monday morning.

“This morning a light went out in the world. Jeremy Mansfield passed away just before dawn. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends and boundless love,” Cowen said,

In a statement, Cowen said: “Jeremy lived large, he didn’t know how to do small. He loved hard, laughed loud, and managed to combine mischief and mayhem with heart and soul. The city was brighter and lighter with him on the airwaves, he changed lives every day. When he wasn’t raising millions for charity, he was raising fresh hell!

Under a naughty exterior, Jeremy had a huge soft heart. A lot of people got to see and hear that over the radio but he saved his vulnerability for a select few. He was determined that the world be a better and shinier and funnier place and he drove the road to that destination at 1000 miles an hour with no rearview mirror, all of the rest of us clinging on for dear life!”

“We will miss him horribly. The family is devastated and is asking for privacy during this time,” Cowen said.

Zanu PF Spends Millions On Election Campaign Cars

Mnangagwa Outwits Chiwenga

WITH the Zanu PF congress confirming that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has outsmarted Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, the late former president Robert Mugabe’s warning to the ex-military general amid the 2017 coup has now come to pass.

Mugabe warned Chiwenga that Mnangagwa would use and dump coup leaders unless he seized power himself. Mugabe told journalists at his Borrowdale mansion on 15 March 2018 in his last interview that he warned Chiwenga that imposing Mnangagwa would end in grief as he would later purge coup plotters.

Mugabe advised Chiwenga to take over himself, but the then army commander balked, probably because a military man taking over would have gone against the propaganda that the military was not staging a coup.

After the coup, Mnangagwa, as Mugabe had warned, went on to purge the coup leaders; dismantling the coalition that brought him to power. Chiwenga’s key military backers, who played a pivotal role in the coup, were kicked out of the army and Zanu PF, while he was battling a life-threatening illness in India and then China, amid poisoning fears. Among those removed were retired Lieutenant-General Anselem Sanyatwe, who commanded troops on the ground during the coup as Presidential Guard commander. Sanyatwe is Chiwenga’s personal friend and confidante.

Sanyatwe was retired alongside several commanders ahead of diplomatic assignments in February 2019.

These include the late Zimbabwe National Army chief-of-staff retired Lieutenant-General Douglas Nyikayaramba, who was chief-of-staff responsible for service personnel and logistics, retired Lieutenant-General Martin Chedondo and retired Air Marshal Sheba Shumbayawonda.

In June 2019, Mnangagwa then made another significant move by removing retired Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje from the Zanu PF commissariat and replacing him with ally Victor Matemadanda, as he seized control of the party, while Chiwenga was incapacitated.

Most of Chiwenga’s factional allies have been removed, dumped and others have died mysteriously including the face of the coup, the late retired Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Moyo who was appointed Foreign Affairs minister after the coup.

Former Air Force of Zimbabwe commander Perrance Shiri, who was appointed Agriculture minister, also died of Covid-19 although his allies say he, like Moyo, was poisoned.

Mugabe told journalists, including The NewsHawks editors who then ran the Zimbabwe Independent, that when the coup struck he sent Roman Catholic priest Father Fidelis Mukonori to engage army commanders, including Chiwenga, but he later replaced him with his confidante Gideon Gono.

He said Mukonori had “sold out” as his role as emissary became compromised and biased in favour of the coup, hence Gono had to come into the process because “he was objective”.

Gono went to meet Chiwenga and other commanders at KGVI, now Josiah Magama Tongogara, Barracks, Harare.

As armoured vehicles, tanks and other army cars rolled on the streets enforcing the coup, Mugabe said he spoke to Chiwenga through Gono, telling him that he should just take over power as Mnangagwa was not reliable and would remove all his allies to consolidate power later.

Mugabe said Chiwenga refused to take over and even denied that he had staged a coup against him. Mugabe said Chiwenga denied the coup vehemently, saying he would never act against him as they had worked together for decades since the liberation struggle days in Mozambique.

Billiat Gets Credit For Chiefs Win

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart has given credit to Khama Billiat and revealed how the Zimbabwean masterminded the stunning goal that won the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Maart netted a long range shot from his own half, picking up the ball after Billiat won the possession.

The effort beat Siyabonga Mpontshane, who was off his line.

Speaking after the match, the former Pirates player explained Khama’s vital role in the goal.

“The first opportunity I passed Khama the ball and he told me: ‘check the goalkeeper, he is from his line,’” Maart said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“The second time, Khama intercepted the ball, I looked up and I just hit it direct.”

The 27-year-old midfielder added: “I think, to be honest with you, a derby game is always a memory and is always something good. I think it will stay in the history books of the derby games and eventually they will show other people in the future what the derby means.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Mugabe’s Last Words To Chiwenga…

Ngezi Bury Tenax

Tenax CS have been relegated from the Castle Lager Premiership following their 5-0 defeat at the hands of Ngezi Platinum on Saturday.

Fodger Killed After Blowing Up Fuel Tanker

State Media – A Harare man died after a fuel tanker trailer belonging to Segment of Glory Energy he was welding exploded, killing him instantly.

It is reported that the welder was on top of the trailer while sealing a leak that had developed on the tanker.

When The Herald arrived at the scene along Sherwood Crescent in Waterfalls, Harare, the body had already been removed.

Workers at the depot were continuing with business.

The truck, which had the fuel tank trailer that exploded was still parked in the SOG depot next to other trucks.

The workers referred all the questions of their employee Mr Justice Madzimure who expressed ignorance over the issue, saying he was not the owner of the haulage company.

A witness said those around panicked after hearing an explosive sound coming out of the depot and they saw the body of the welder lying in the yard of the next depot where it was thrown.

“The man was on top of the fuel tank trailer welding it and everything seemed to be going on well,” said the eye witness who refused to be named. “He asked if the sadza I was cooking was ready so that he could come and buy it when he was done.

“Moments later we were terrified by the explosive sound of the fuel tanker. The man was thrown into this yard (next depot) where he died instantly. When the fuel tanker trailer exploded some people ran away because they thought it was a bomb, but after the explosion some came back to see what had transpired.”

Others said they heard an explosion and thought that it was a bomb.

National police spokesperson assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was yet to receive a report from police officers who attended the scene.

Joana Mamombe : Wiwa A Hero Of People’s Struggle

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition for Change( CCC) says Zanu PF does not have the capacity to turn around the economy.

In a statement on Sunday, CCC denounced the persecution of Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala and jailed activists.

“Today, our MP Job Sikhala celebrates his 50th birthday. He would have wanted to celebrate this milestone with his friends and family but the regime in Harare has made it impossible. His wife had baked him a cake but the autocratic regime stopped her from delivering it to him. We’re not yet free.

The regime continues to ruin the lives of innocent citizens through unconstitutional detentions without trial.

Happy 50th birthday our change change champion. We will continue to fight for your release,” said CCC.

Joana Mamombe also described Sikhala as a true freedom fighter.

“Celebrating 50th birthday of a REVOLUTIONARY Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala. A Fearless cadre in the face of imprisonment & trumped up charges, he still stands firm in his conviction that ZANU PF must be brought down.

I celebrate your life today FIGHTER, May you continue to Inspire even generations to come!

Hon Sikhala turned 50 on Sunday October 30. He was jailed for denouncing the brutal murder of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

On Sunday President Chamisa described Wiwa as a hero of the people’s struggle.

“Today Hon @JobSikhala1 turns 50.

Zanu PF Spends US$5 Million In Few Months

By-The ZANU PF party has spent millions of dollars on cars, party regalia and improving the welfare of its VIPs ahead of the 2023 elections.

Macheso Dedicates Songs To Every Lover

By- Sungura music star Alick Macheso is said to be in the habit of dedicating songs to every lady he falls in love with.

This came out after the death of his former lover, Petunia Rwizi.

Macheso dedicated one of his famous songs to Petunia.

Petunia died of cancer at the age of 45.

She was laid to rest on 11 October at her rural home in Dirikwe Village of Nyanyadzi in Chimanimani District.

Macheso and Petunia have one child named Munashe, who was born in 2000, the same year the song Petunia was released.

Mourners who gathered at Petunia’s rural homestead for a three-day funeral wake would often break into song and dance, with the hit song “Petunia”, being the soundtrack of the funeral.

Brother to the deceased, Isay Rwizi, spoke to Manica Post:

Most people who knew my sister well pleaded with us to have some sort of a funeral party for Petunia.

They played Alick Macheso’s music throughout and danced.

Apart from the suggestive dances, we saw nothing wrong with that because we all know that the two, Macheso and my sister Petunia, once had an affair and they had a child together.

Macheso also assisted Petunia with her hospital bills, long after her relationship with Macheso had ended, according to The Weekender.

The sungura maestro is also said to have contributed towards Petunia’s burial. Isay Rwizi said:

During the days she was unwell, Mai Shero (Macheso’s wife) gave our sister some financial assistance and we appreciate such humility.

In the song “Petunia”, Macheso expresses his deep love for the woman.

Back then, the rumour mill had it that a Chipinge man only identified as Garikai, who is also now late, was in a relationship with Petunia when Macheso came into the picture and he dumped her.

Macheso is said to have dedicated “Madhau” to a lover who was based in Marondera, while “Monalisa” hailed from Bulawayo and “Tafadzwa” traces part of her upbringing to Mutare.

BREAKING: Marry Chiwenga Acquitted Of Assault

By Farai D Hove | The ex wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry has been acquitted of assault charges by Harare magistrate Mrs Learnmore Mapiye.

She had on her file charges of assaulting her maid.

The development comes 2 months after ZimEye exposed on camera a VP Chiwenga aide of laying false accusations against her over forging a marriage while her husband was bedridden.

Mubaiwa through her lawyer Mrs Mtetwa had applied for discharge at the close of the State’s case arguing that its evidence was unreliable as witnesses who testified had many versions of what transpired. In her ruling, Mrs Mapiye said the application for discharge at the close of the State’s case by Mtetwa has merit and therefore her client is acquitted.

It was alleged that on January 28, 2020, at around midday, Munyoro went to Hellenic Primary School in Borrowdale, Harare to collect Mubaiwa’s son she sired with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
It was the State’s case that while Munyoro remained seated in the car the driver, Batsirai Furukiya, went to collect the child. The court heard that while Fururiya was walking with the child going where the car was parked, Mubaiwa followed him. Upon arrival at the car, Mubaiwa started accusing Munyoro of telling her children not to talk to her and quizzed her why she was doing so.

In her defense, Mubaiwa denied the assault allegations telling the court through her lawyer, Mtetwa that her hands were weak at the time of the alleged attack after she was injured during the Bulawayo White City Stadium blast incident.

Announcing the acquittal, her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa said,

“As you know Marry was facing an assault charge, and we applied for discharge on the basis that the evidence of the state was unreliable because there were as many versions as there were witnesses, and that it is very rare for the complainant and the doctor to actually disagree, but here we had one saying I saw the doctor once, the doctor says I saw her twice, the reports say different things, so she said the applicant has merit and she has been acquitted. Yeah.”

‘Dexter Nduna’s Constituency, Parly Work Too Loud To Ignore’

By A Correspondent| He soft spoken, but his work and actions speak louder than his voice.

That best describes ZANU PF legislator Dexter Nduna, who has changed the face of Chegutu and is making waves in national politics.

Several motions in the National Assembly, if not more than one third of the most important ones, are attributed to Nduna.

For instance, it was him who introduced the motion for school feeding programme advocacy which has since been rolled out throughout the country.

The motion to spruce up the liberation war shrines in and outside Zimbabwe was also brought up for debate by the Chegutu West legislator.

The Special Economic Zones motion that caused the establishment of the bill and Act on the SEZs was also brought up in the National Assembly by him.

Other motions he moved include one which saw more than 3 000 artisanal miners being released on amnesty in 2016 as well as the call for the repeal of the Mines and Mineral Act, which Act is now on second reading.

The recently elected central committee member was also the brains behind the motion calling for the establishment of the exploration of the country’s resources and the quantification of minerals.

He also called in another motion the harmonisation of the Lands and Minerals Act to make sure that the 2000 land reform is not reversed.

The former ZANU PF Mashonaland West deputy chairperson called for removal of duty on buses and since 2016 government has been charging 5% duty on buses importation

On the transport issue, Nduna also called for establishment of accident victims stabilisation centres at toll gates. This was after he lost two of his children in a road traffic accident along the Bulawayo-Harare highway due to late medical attention and none availability of medical attention within the golden hour after the accident.

In his submissions in the Eighth Parliament as the transport portfolio committee chairman he said he did not wish what happened to him to happen to any other man as this was a painful experience and would work hard to get the 12.5 percent remittances to traffic safety council from third party insurance to help accident victims both bereaved and injured.

Nduna has built a world class accident victims stabilisation centre in Chegutu along the Bulawayo-Harare Road at Surisuri Airbase turnoff, 200m off the highway using community initiative where each house brought bricks and the legislator bought everything else using his own resources.

He is currently pushing the government to clear the national housing backlog of 2.6m houses.

He called on conversion of gold and platinum into gold coins and platinum coins and utilisation of the same in place of paper money.

He is currently pushing for the offer of title deeds for all council houses if one stayed at the house for more than 25 years.

Politically Nduna continues to rise after he was recently elected a central committee member and chances are high that the party leadership will consider him for other positions since he remains loyal to the revolutionary party.

Soweto Derby: Billiat Rises To The Occasion

DeMbare, Bosso In Dull Draw

Regarded by many as the contest which would prove that local football is still exciting, the ‘Battle of Zimbabwe’ failed to live up to expectations as old foes Dynamos and Highlanders played out a disappointing goalless draw at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.

Pre-match talk was dominated by suggestions that DeMbare and Bosso, the two biggest teams in the country, would prove to the football-loving public that there is still some life left in top-flight football after all.

A bumper crowd was even expected, as evidenced by the Premier Soccer League (PSL)’s move to reinforce security for the clash, which has been marred by crowd trouble of late.

In the end, less than 2000 fans were at the giant facility and the eagerly-awaited clash had very little in terms of entertainment and goal mouth action.

DeMbare’s King Nadolo came the closest to breaking the deadlock when his well-taken shot hit the underside of the crossbar in the second half.

Uncharacteristically, Ndiraya had gone for a more attacking line up, with Tinashe Makanda leading the search for goals while Issa Sadiki operated on the right flank.

In the end, Ndiraya admited the game lacked flare but reckoned a draw was a fair result.

“It was a balanced affair with little goal mouth action, which is very common with these big games,” Ndiraya told the media after the game.

“Players tend to really not express themselves in the manner that they should be, we expected it to be like that.

“The teams were little bit hesitant and they were not going at each other as you would expect in these kind of games with the excitement from the terraces. You would think that they (the fans) would spur on the players.

Added Ndiraya: “The game was a little flat to be honest but at the end, a draw was a fair result.

Ndiraya’s Highlanders counterpart Baltemar Brito also felt both teams did not express themselves enough.

“In my opinion, it was a good game. It was too tactical as both teams tried to close up the spaces,” the Portuguese said after the game.

“Not too many opportunities but it was a good game in my opinion and I’m happy with the performance of the boys,” added Brito.-Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Pfumbidzai Scores Crucial Goal For Chippa United

Zimbabwean left back Ronald Pfumbidzai scored his third goal of the season for Chippa United, in their entertaining 3-3 draw with Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership on Sunday.

The former CAPS United left back reduced the Chili Boys’ deficit when he headed home Khanyisile Mayo’s corner kick.

Pfumbidzai is now the Zimbabwean with the most goals in the South African top-flight this season.

Meanwhile, Khama Billiat’s goal drought continues after he failed to score in his 10th league match of the season.

The diminutive winger was replaced in the second half as Kaizer Chiefs beat Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

Veteran defender Onismor Bhasera featured for SuperSport United in their 1-1 with Swallows while Washingon Arubi kept goal for Marumo Gallants in their 1-2 defeat to Cape Town City.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Mnangagwa Continues To Ruin Citizens’ Lives

We miss you Hon Ken Saro-Wiwa.”

Mnangagwa Unwilling To Leave Office

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has indicated that he is not ready to leave office despite losing popularity with each passing day.

Addressing the seventh Zanu PF national Congress in Harare at the weekend, Mr Mnangagwa said Zanu PF would govern for the next five years.

Said Mr Mnangagwa:

” Emerging from this 7th National Congress we must never bury our heads from the sun but to lead from the front. Targets articulated in the congress must be achieved by us. We must revamp administration to be insync with the modernisation we are pursuing. We must remain adaptive to the modern advancements. Victory must become the signature of Zanu pf. I challenge the leadership to broaden the horizon beyond 2030 to fulfill the hopes of people. We must come up with policies to end poverty through job creation delivering sustainable livelihoods and prosperous future for Zimbabweans.

The party belongs to three generations , the dead, the current and the future. The current must keep Zanu PF alive and hand it over vibrant to the next generation.

The power of ZANU PF is with the people not the leadership. It is the people growing the country. As in the liberation we were like fish in the water. All party structures must be equipped with this role of catering for the people of Zimbabwe. “

“We are the leaders of Zimbabwe. I outlined the success of the party in the opening remarks, Zimbabwe is going forward in the next 5 years. At this congress we have emerged with resolutions to guide the party congress and the generality has spoken.

The party will run with organised structures to secure another 5 year term. Attainment of upper middle income economy by 2030 must be accelerated regardless of imposition of sanctions. A firm foundation has been laid on which we mount our campaign strategy.

The system has been oiled to win. I thank you for nominating me to be your 2023 Presidential candidate.

l depend on you and your support to win…,” added Mr Mnangagwa.

Prophet T Freddy Appears In A Video Turning Water Into Cooking Oil

By A Correspondent| Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder Prophet T Freddy yesterday left his congregants in awe after he performed miracles by turning water into cooking oil, flour and mealie-meal.

The miracle happened yesterday at his church service in Glen Norah.

In a video seen by ZimEye and already circulating on social media, T Freddy is seen standing in front of three buckets of water before asking one woman who had brought the containers whether she had brought water or something different.

“Alright, come and tell me mama, are you saying that you fetched water… so what is inside…. open and let’s see,” said T Freddy.

The woman responded confirming that she brought water before she got overwhelmed by emotions after opening the containers to notice that there was cooking oil inside.

“I fetched water in the evening and I brought it here as it is…” the woman responded.

Apostolic Church Challenges Gender-Stereotypes

By Tafadzwa Muranganwa| A local apostolic church is introducing a number of initiatives that are challenging gender stereotypes and empowering its women congregants.

Many apostolic churches have been accused of being conservative and entrenching the patriarchy system which often leads to women abuse. It is against this background, Johanne Masowe YeChishanu Nyenyedzi Nomwe Church of the Whole World is introducing a number of programmes including the Women Annual Conference whose third edition was held in Msengezi.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 3-day- conference held at Dombwe Township, convener ,Regina Mhodzi, said gender roles are evolving and women should be able to adapt.

“The time where women were only assigned to depend on their husbands is over .Women should now be able to adapt with the changing times by being supportive of their partners by through income generating products.

Some of the women congregants

“The programme also encouraged young women to invest in their education as this can also makes them better wives who are self-sufficient ,a trait most men now prefer,”Mhodzi said.

According to Mitchell Munyanyi, who is wife to the church leader, Madzibaba Enoch, empowering women through income generating projects can help arrest Gender-Based-Violence(GBV).

“Most women find themselves at the mercy of GBV because they don’t have their own income to support the family so by encouraging women to partake in income generating project like detergents making it helps them to alleviate domestic violence,” she said.

This was also reiterated by Ms Theresa Masuku Chitova who strongly disapproved child marriages.

At the closing ceremony ,some of the women congregants showcased their products while the major highlight was when a few others did a modelling contest, a rare among apostolic churches .

Commenting on the modelling ,the Johanne Masowe YeChishanu Nyenyedzi Nomwe Church of the Whole World founder and leader ,Madzibaba Enoch born Herbert Thabo Senda said it was meant to build self-esteem among the women congregants.

“The introduction of modelling is just to inspire women to have a high self-esteem and be able to preserve themselves which attract their husbands not to seek extra-marital affairs,” he said.

“We also noted that most marriages were breaking because men would have failed to provide for their families so now the church being a refuge of most women we found it prudent to empower them so that they can be able to support their spouses,” added Madzibaba Enoch.

In a speech read on her behalf by Council for Churches in Africa(CCA) chaplin general Ms A Chirume , CCA Mother General ,Prophetess Faith Sibanda-Moyo, says her organization is delighted that apostolic churches are now also advancing gender inequality.

“As women we really appreciate the strides which the churches have made so far in addressing gender inequality and equity especially amongst apostolic , zion ,among other indigenous churches all over Africa.

“In particular, the Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) has shown keen interests in furthering women quest for advancement of gender equality and equity amongst previously marginalized women within our society. We really appreciate such a noble cause by the CCA and its stance in supporting the government’s efforts to address gender issues,” she said.

Also present was CCA vice president Ms Runyararo Kunzekweguta who said her organization closely work with the government in empowering women.

Zanu PF Congress Delays Chiwenga’s Ambitions

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has brought his bitter rival Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga to his knees — literally and metaphorically — at the crucial Zanu PF congress which ended in Harare on Saturday.

After a brutal political battle following the 2017 military coup which propelled Mnangagwa to power, characterised by plotting, internal strife, purges, poisoning and a grenade attack amid dead bodies, Chiwenga was crushed at congress.

His surrender — at least for now — was symbolised by his kneeling before Mnangagwa. Delegates, foreign fraternal party representatives, diplomats, observers and journalists witnessed the kowtowing spectacle.

Those who spoke to The NewsHawks found the kneeling symbolic of defeat.

“That summarised the key outcome of the congress; Mnangagwa emerged triumphant and Chiwenga defeated, given their power relations in 2017 and the power shift now,” one delegate said.

“This is not to say Chiwenga is down and out. This means he is down, but not out. The fact of the matter is simply that he was routed at congress and needs to retreat and regroup.”

Chiwenga himself accepted the trouncing, going as far as claiming leaders are ordained by God.

He implied Mnangagwa, whom he once claimed was the great Munhumutapa (historical Shona-speaking people’s monarch), had the divine right to rule.

Said Chiwenga: “The party membership through its structures and leagues has already clearly and thunderously endorsed Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as the president and first secretary, and as the sole presidential candidate for the ruling party, Zanu PF, in the 2023 harmonised elections. People have thus spoken.

” Singing praises of Mnangagwa, he added: “He is the one and only candidate that we know.”

This was a far cry from his plan in 2017 during the coup when he called the shots. Chiwenga’s strategy was to install Mnangagwa as President for five years, and then take over in 2023.

This was part of the military plan to then keep power within their structures and among themselves. In 2017, Chiwenga practically installed himself vice-president when he exchanged military fatigues for a civilian suit, blocking Mnangagwa’s bid to appoint Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri co-deputy leader with Kembo Mohadi.

He also took over the defence and war veterans portfolios that Mnangagwa had initially given to Mohadi who was briefly put in charge of security. Muchinguri-Kashiri was later appeased through an appointment as party chair, a position which she retained at congress.

Zanu PF’s top positions have remained unchanged after congress: Mnangagwa (president), Chiwenga (deputy president), Mohadi (deputy president), Muchinguri-Kashiri (chairperson), Obert Mpofu (secretary for administration), Patrick Chinamasa (finance), national political commissar Mike Bimha and secretary for security Lovemore Matuke. Except Chiwenga and Mpofu, the rest of these appointed top party officials support Mnangagwa, insiders say.

Mohadi, who helped checkmate Chiwenga during the bruising power struggle, threw his weight behind Mnangagwa in his congress address. Mnangagwa lightheartedly described Mohadi as “naughty” — a reference to his sex scandals — but said he is dependable and useful.

He said Mohadi is also an honest leader as he is the only one who has repeatedly told him in his face that he wants to be president.

Good-homouredly, Mnangagwa said if Mohadi wants to be president he must first survive a sustained campaign of vilification and threats, poisoning, expulsion, walking 40 kilometres and then a dramatic recovery from that, which was a description of his own rise to power under the late former president Robert Mugabe’s last days.

Mnangagwa also appointed a limited number of members of the politburo members and 10 new central committee officials who are his personal nominees.

The move is calculated to cement his control of the party. Mnangagwa’s 10 appointees came from the country’s 10 provinces, one each.

This is designed to mobilise votes. They included Emmanuel Fundira (Midlands); Paul Mangwana (Masvingo); Angeline Tongogara (Mashonaland Central); Wilson Khumbula (Manicaland); Michael Madanha (Mashonaland East); Joseph Madziva Chirongoma (Mashonaland West); Veronica Munkili (Matabeleland North); Miriam Chikukwa (Harare); Zenzo Nsimbi (Bulawayo) and Abednico Ncube (Matabeleland South).

Mabel Chinomona remained in charge of the women’s league and Douglas Mahiya the war veterans league. Mnangagwa is also restructuring the politburo portfolios, creating new ones, while also coming up with an elders’ council structure.

Chiwenga’s supporters claim the elders’ council is evidence that their ally is still powerful and influential as that demand came from the coup leaders in 2017, but it is likely to be another pro-Mnangagwa structure.

In yet another indication of his power in 2017, Chiwenga stopped Mnangagwa from appointing Victor Matematanda, now ambassador to Mozambique, as political commissar.

He put retired Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje who was later removed after the 2018 elections. Rugeje is a key Chiwenga ally who challenged Mnangagwa’s purges and new modus operandi at a charged politburo meeting in July 2019.

Chiwenga and the army also ran internal Zanu PF elections in 2018, including the national polls. However, that power is no longer intact for Chiwenga.

Mnangagwa arrived at congress, having put his ducks in a row through the district coordinating committee, provincial and central committee elections, as well as cells. The provincial elections were brazenly rigged in favour of Mnangagwa.

Sources say the central committee members were meticulously vetted and packed with his supporters.

They say Mnangagwa went through the central committee list of elected members — one by one — to ensure it is dominated by his loyalists. Chiwenga struggled to even get nominated in his Mashonaland East province. At the congress, Mnangagwa’s support — perhaps stage-managed — was thunderously evident in song. For instance, his home Mid lands province was singing “Munomuvengereyi Mnangagwa?” which literally means “Why do you hate Mnangagwa?”

The song caught fire as the venue erupted into a cacophony, burying Chiwenga and his faction under an avalanche of Mnangagwa’s internal support among the 4 000 delegates.

However, insiders say Chiwenga is down, but not out. One delegate said: “It would be unwise for ED (Mnangagwa) and his supporters to think Chiwenga is down and out.

He is down, but not out. The question is: What next for him? Chiwenga still has strong residual support in the party and military.

He has retreated but will regroup, perhaps starting with Bhora musango [internal sabotage] during the upcoming general elections. It’s not yet over till it’s over.

At the end of the day, the unresolved leadership issue in Zanu PF still remains as long as there is a top leader who believes he was betrayed and needs to recover his lost ground and seize power.”

Closing the congress, Mnangagwa said: “Our party is more united as we march forward in building our country, leaving no one and no place behind. As we approach the 2023 elections, we must remain in sync and encourage our members to register to vote.”

Mahere’s Date Slapped With US$100k Lawsuit For Defaming To Neurologist Colleague

A medical doctor Lenon Gwaunza, who once grabbed headlines for asking out CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has been slapped with US$100 000 in damages over defamatory social posts he made against a fellow doctor on social media and by reporting his qualifications as dubious.

Gwaunza allegedly claimed top neurologist Andrew Mataruse had dubious qualifications in a letter to the Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe, allegations which were later found to be baseless.

Mataruse has engaged a prominent lawyer Admire Rubaya to help him repair his reputation injured by Gwaunza’s allegations.

“On or about 8 July, 2021 you wrote a letter to the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe (herein after called “the MDPCZ”) wherein you questioned our client’s neurology qualifications and called them dubious.

“We are further advised that you made serious allegations that our client is an imposter who was misrepresenting, to the generality of patients and colleagues in the medical fraternity, that he is a Neurologist.

“In essence, you maliciously and falsely claimed that our client is a fraudster in circumstances where you knew very well that our client is adequately qualified to be called a neurologist.

“The above statements are not only defamatory and untrue but same are very malicious,” Mataruse’s lawyer Admire Rubaya wrote.

Gwaunza allegedly took his allegations to Twitter.

“Further, you have reiterated your defamatory remarks through your Twitter handle, @lgwaunza, in particular, on 20th August, 2021 wherein you seriously quizzed our client’s qualifications and demeaned his ability to practice as a neurologist.

“The widely published tweets that you posted have global reach and they have seriously damaged his major asset which is goodwill and trading brand. Put differently, the publications of the various statements which you made about questionable medical qualifications are malicious and injurious.

“Our client’s reputation has been severely damaged which has consequently had a negative impact on his cliental base. As you are obviously aware, as a specialist in Zimbabwe, our client relies on referrals from fellow colleagues and other medical professionals all of which is hinged on good and reliable reputation. Our client has the real tisk of incurting quantifiable financial losses.

“Our client advises us that he is now on the verge of losing many lucrative contracts as the various publications have cast him in a bad light,” his lawyerwrote.

Mataruse holds several qualifications and supervised Gwaunza for him to be a specialist and according to his lawyer, him questioning Mataruse’s qualifications is self destructive as he is called specialist by virtue of supervision by a person whom he labels dubious.

“Our client holds additional qualification in  Master of Science Clinical Neurology from the University College of London (UCL) in 2017 and that qualification is duly registered with the MDPCZ. As you should be obviously aware, University College of London, which operates as “UCL”, is a major public research university located in London, United Kingdom;

“Our client attained an additional qualification of Specialist Certificate Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2019 which qualification is registered with the MDPCZ; and

“Dr. Mataruse further attained an additional qualification of Fellow of European Board of Neurology from the European Board of Neurology (EBN) in July 2021 and these were submitted for registration with MDPCZ.

“It is our client’s considered view that you knew very well or ought to have known that these qualifications were not dished out at a political rally but were awarded to him on merit from reputable Universities and Examination Boards after our client had completed a rigorous examination process,” the letter read.

“When you made those false allegations, you knew very well that our client had successfully supervised and mentored you on attitude, knowledge and clinical neurology for the whole year of 2020 whilst you were working at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals (PGH) (Neurology Clinic, Medical wards and Stroke Unit),” the letter added.

The Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe has since authenticated Mataruse’s qualifications.

“Regarding the allegations of dubious qualifications, be advised that your qualifications were duly assessed by Council through the Education and Liaison Committee of Council which approved the qualifications as recognized additional qualifications that warrant specialist registration as a Neurologist.

“Regarding the issue of you being an unqualified supervisor, Council indeed appointed you as a qualified supervisor to supervise a Senior Registrar based on your competence,” reads part of the letter from the registrar Josephine Mwakutuya dated August 1 2022.

Mataruse wants Gwaunza to retract his statements to the same board he wrote to.

“.  . .our instructions are to demand, as we hereby do, the publication of a full, unconditional and unreserved withdrawal of these defamatory statements and the related imputations together with an expression of – regret on the same within forty eight (48) hours of receiving this letter as well as a letter of regret to the MDPCZ Council withdrawing all the allegations you have raised against him.

“Additionally, our client demands the payment of US$100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand United States of American Dollars) as damages for defamation within five (5) days of this letter. In the event that you fail to retract the defamatory statements and pay the sum of US$100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand United States of American Dollars), as demanded, our client shall proceed to issue Summons and claim damages for defamation without any further notice to you,” his lawyer wrote.

Mavaza: ZANU PF Congress Shakes British Parliament

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | On the 27th October 2022 as ZANU PF was holding its 7th National Congress the United Kingdom Parliament led by the sworn enemy of Zimbabwe, Load Oates was having a specific contribution to ask his Majesty’s Government as to what discussions they have had with the Government of Zimbabwe about the continued detention of opposition Members of the Zimbabwean Parliament Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole, and other opposition activists.
Contributor after contributor tried his best to show their particular ignorance about Zimbabwe’s judicial and political system.

The behaviour of the British House of Lords exposed the monstrous and sulphurous whiff of hypocrisy perpetrated by those with imbicilic proclivity. “I marvel at the fecundity of human imagination when it comes to such adversarial relationship with the truth..blatant pathological lies. God forbid. “ commented General Ezekiel Zabanyana one of the illustrious son of the soil.

Friends all over the world were tripping to congratulate ZANU PF for holding a constitutional mandate of having a Congress successful, while the British House of Lords found the second to vilify and castigate Zimbabwe.
The world was shocked to hear Lord Johnny Oates, Liberal Democrats, in parliament and Baroness Katey Hoey stating that Zimbabwe is in a systematic attack on rule of law and human rights.
The Lord J Oates zeroed on the detention of Job Sikhala a serial offender and his team of thugs who have been held without bail for murder and inciting violence.
The debate was publicised wide and far. This made true what my
General had said “modern or future warfare is going to be won by the side that best exploit the electromagnetic spectrum. ”
The British government’s and others in Europe accusation of Zimbabwe’s courts refusal to grant Zengeza MP Job Sikhala and his colleague Godfrey Sithole bail exposed the hypocrisy manifested in the biased democracy fronted by the United Kingdom. To dedicate a full hour to discuss about Zimbabwe showed that there is a bigger plot to disturb Zimbabwe’s harmonised elections in 2023. Every time when it comes to the opposition, the European and American governments accuse Zimbabwe. It is true that Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala and his Chitungwiza North counterpart Sithole were denied bail following their court appearance on charges of incitement to commit public violence.
Lord Oates started by saying
“My Lords, the UK is concerned by the trend of lengthy pre-trial detention of government critics in Zimbabwe. We are monitoring the ongoing detention of the MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole. As the ambassador publicly stated on 2 October, the UK is committed to the fundamental right to peaceful assembly and association, as enshrined in Zimbabwe’s constitution. The former Minister for Africa also raised the issue with the Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe on 30 June.
“My Lords, the Minister will be aware that opposition MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole have now been detained without bail for 142 days in Chikurubi maximum security prison and paraded before court in leg irons; that only a week ago, the Bulawayo MP Jasmine Toffa was violently assaulted as part of an attack on CCC activists; and that across Zimbabwe political violence is raging in the lead-up to the 2023 general elections. Will he join me in calling on the Zimbabwe Government to end this political violence now? Will he join me also in making clear to ZANU-PF officials and Ministers, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe prison officers that the world is watching and holds them accountable for the safety and security of all Zimbabwe’s citizens?”
Zimbabweans have a very befitting statement to describe the hypocrisy perpetrated by the British Lords. “Crocodile Tears”
There is always a great interest in Zimbabwe when an event is about to happen. Now that we are nearing the election period all dust will be raised and all dirty will be thrown at ZANUPF and it’s government.
Lord Oats and many British parliamentarians as usual are trying very hard to expose their ignorance of Zimbabwean laws. Without understanding the bail system in Zimbabwe the confused Lord jumped to a conclusion and lambasted Zimbabwe on human rights.

The self righteous Lord is the one who is inciting violence against Zanu-PF and his utterances were unfortunate and misleading. These were the submissions of a Lord with an agenda.
It is a wonder how the honourable Lord fails to understand that Zimbabwe has its laws which must be enforced without fear or favour. Because the Lord wanted to paint Zimbabwe with a wrong brush leaped at the due process and tries to lecture Zimbabweans on their own laws.
The utterances of Lord Oates are unfortunate and seriously embarrassing. Considering that they have misfired and missed the target their intentions against Zimbabwe are satanic diabolic and evil.
General elections are coming in few months time the Lord Oates and his backers have realised that their person is heading for a defeat so they start lambasting Zimbabwe in order to agitate the electorate.
Lord Oates must realise that Zimbabwe is no longer a colony of the Uk.
In case Lord Oates did not know Zimbabwe has a bail system which is clearly defined. Bail is never granted by ZANU PF but by the courts. Our courts are very independent. In a bail application, the judge or magistrate can receive evidence on oath or by affidavit, and hearsay evidence is admissible.  The prosecutor indicates his attitude to the grant or refusal of bail, and the judge or magistrate decides the question on the basis of what he has been told by the accused and the prosecutor.  Bail proceedings, in fact, follow the inquisitorial rather than the adversarial model of criminal procedure.  Both sides can be required to adduce evidence.  If the accused gives evidence, however, the court must inform him that his evidence will be admissible and may be used against him at his trial.
An accused person “is compelled to inform the court” whether he has any previous convictions and whether he is facing other charges and, if he is, whether he has been granted bail on those charges.  It is not clear if this means that he must volunteer the information or need to disclose it only if asked.  If he wilfully fails or refuses to give this information, or gives false information on these matters, he commits a crime.
If an application for bail is refused by a judge or magistrate, a further application cannot be made unless it is based on facts that were not placed before the judge or magistrate who first determined the application and which arose or were discovered after he made the decision.  If no new facts arise, the only recourse the accused has is to appeal.  It should be noted, however, that the passage of time can itself constitute a “new fact”:  in other words, the fact that a long time has elapsed since an application for bail was made and refused can be placed before the court as a justification for a fresh application. What those accusing Zimbabwe for victimising Job Sikhala do not understand is the fact that the refusal or granting of bail is a vitally important part of the criminal process.  Initial remand is an important step in a citizen’s loss of liberty.  After arrest without warrant, it is the first time that his case is presented to a neutral body for arbitration of the issue whether or not, on the basis of mere suspicion, the citizen must lose his freedom.  If he loses his freedom at that stage, before his guilt is proved, he may face total ruin.  He may lose his job, or other means of his livelihood.  He could lose his home too if he is a lodger or a mortgagee as he falls into arrears.  This could drive his family into destitution and he is forced to rely on State support for livelihood whilst in custody.  The consequences are just too ghastly to contemplate for both the rich and the poor.  Magistrates are therefore to take the greatest care when approaching the question whether to deny or grant bail.”
Bail is never granted on political grounds and the outbursts by the House of Lords is unfortunate.
The following principles govern were the principles used to deny or grant bail.
Section 50(1)(d) of the Constitution states that a person who has been arrested:
“must be released unconditionally, or on reasonable conditions, pending a charge or trial, unless there are compelling reasons justifying their continued detention.”
According to section 117(1) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, every accused person has a right to bail, subject to the interests of justice:
“[A] person who is in custody in respect of an offence shall be entitled to be released on bail at any time after he or she has appeared in court on a charge and before sentence is imposed, unless the court finds that it is in the interests of justice that he or she should be detained in custody.”
The constitutional provision protects liberty more stringently:  an accused person must be released unless there are “compelling reasons” for keeping him in detention;  the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act on the other hand  says that he may be detained if it is “in the interests of justice” to do so.  Section 115C of the Act seeks to align the Act with the Constitution by saying, in effect, that the grounds listed in section 117 as justifying continued detention in the interests of justice must be regarded as “compelling reasons”.  So the Job Sikhala issue depended solely on principles.  It is impossible to define the term compelling circumstances comprehensively because what is compelling will vary according to the personal circumstances of each suspect and the facts of his or her case.  There are four reasons which normally justify continued detention:
a)that the suspect is likely to abscond
b) that the suspect is likely to interfere with the evidence, e.g. by intimidating witnesses
c) that the suspect is likely to commit further crimes if released.
d) And that the suspect is in breach of another bail condition.
Whether those reasons, individually or in combination, will be compelling depends on the facts and circumstances of each case, as already pointed out.  The more likely the suspect is to do any of these things, the more compelling the reason for keeping him in custody. In Job’s case giving him bail would have been an insult to our justice system.
Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act
Section 117 of the Act seems to be based loosely on the equivalent provision of the South African Criminal Procedure Act, 1977, which in turn is based on section 35(1)(f) of that country’s constitution.  Section 35(1)(f) states that everyone who is arrested has the right to be released from detention “if the interests of justice permit”.  Our Constitution is different, as already noted.  Arrested persons in Zimbabwe have a greater constitutional right to bail than is granted them in South Africa;  so section 117 does not go far enough in guaranteeing to arrested persons their right to bail.  To that extent, therefore, it is unconstitutional.  Merely saying, as section 115C does, that the reasons listed in section 117 amount to compelling reasons does not render section 117 constitutional.
Be that as it may, section 117 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act elaborates on the reasons for continued detention listed above, and sets out in detail the considerations to be taken into account by a judge or magistrate when deciding whether to grant or refuse bail:
In the Job Sikhala case It was in the interests of justice to refuse him bail. It was established that if the accused is granted bail he is likely:to endanger public safety or the safety of an individual person;to “undermine or jeopardise the objectives or proper functioning of the criminal justice system, including the bail system” It was also in the interests of justice to refuse Job Sikhala bail as“in exceptional circumstances” it is likely that the release of the accused will disturb public order or undermine public peace or security. The court in Job’s case balance the interests of justice against the right of the accused to personal freedom.
Generally, the onus of showing that bail should not be granted rests with the prosecution, where bail is sought before the accused person has been found guilty.  As Mathonsi J said in S v Munsaka 2016 (1) ZLR 427 (H), the onus of proving compelling reasons for not granting bail lies on the State.  The degree of proof required is a balance of probabilities.  Under section 115C of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act
The presumption of innocence operates fully in bail applications made before the accused has been found guilty, and so the court is expected and required to lean in favour of the liberty of the accused.  In other words, if the State opposes bail it must prove that justice will be served by denying bail.  So in Job Sikhala’s case the state proved beyond any reasonable doubt.
Once, however, the prosecution has made credible allegations against the accused which would provide grounds for refusing bail, the onus shifts to the accused person, who must show on a balance of probabilities that his admission to bail would not prejudice the interests of justice. When Job was given the chance to offload the burden he boasted that he has been committing the same offence and got arrested for the same offence for over forty seven times. This assisted the court to quickly without delay deny bail.
So it is a shame that CCC which is full of lawyers fail to see that Job as a lawyer is indeed a liability to his liberty and to his own party. His incarceration is not political but seriously criminal.

The interference in our justice system by the British parliament is unfortunate and evil. This evil has shaken democracies around the world. The use of propaganda and misinformation to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries is not new, but events since last week have heightened awareness of how changes in social media platforms, political norms, and campaign financing rules have enabled foreign actors to influence elections on an unprecedented scale. The House of Lords has started to make a case against Zimbabwe before elections. The reason for this is to create a fall back when their puppet loses elections.

The submissions by Lord Oates shows that our freedom is still under threat. Important analytical problems are in large measure obscured by the use of words which imply anthropomorphic or personalised explanations of social institutions. Serious and research by Lord Oats should have vitiated by the ambiguity of some of key terms, which for lack of more precise ones we have constantly to use. This would have put the paranoia mind of the Lord to rest. Zimbabwe does not weaponise the judicial system. We are civilised.

Zimbabwe has always been attacked by foreign electoral interventions. Foreign electoral interventions are attempts by governments, covertly or overtly, to influence elections in another country. This is now alarming seeing that it is a parliamentary motion in the UK.

British law addresses an even more foundational question: why, exactly, does the country committed to free speech and robust public debate indulge in foreign participation in other country’s democratic discussion? Even though there are laws prohibiting foreign influence in domestic elections are ubiquitous and increasing, but the underlying reasons for them are not always clear, especially when such laws target the distribution of information directly to the public. Such laws are not readily explained by any of the common justifications used in interfering in other country’s democratic process. In an increasingly globalized world, foreign political interference is a growing threat to democratic systems of government.

Lord Oates has shown his stubborn zeal to control the political land scape of Zimbabwe. Every election Zimbabwe holds the United Kingdom will put its ugly dirty nose sniffing all over the electoral process of Zimbabwe.

Despite the re engagement efforts being fronted by President ED MNANGAGWA the UK has shown him a middle finger.
The cruel fact of democracy is that those you do not want are the ones who attract the majority.

Zanu-PF attracts the majority and it has done this for over forty two years.

It is this time surprisingly the opposition with the help of Lord Oates will start to exaggerate  on things in Zimbabwe so that they can get the sympathy of those oppressing us.  There will be a lot of stage managed issues which will border on the side of abuse in order to convince their handlers that Zimbabwe is not in a good state to have sanctions lifted and to hold free and fair elections. The importance of independent external monitoring of countries  to prevent torture or ill-treatment from occurring is well established this must be followed not to discuss it in your parliament with bias.

The principle that the inspection and monitoring of other countries can promote the protection of human rights and prevent torture and ill-treatment has become well established in international human rights law. While international human rights instruments make it clear that independent monitoring of  is the gold standard when it comes to protecting rights, regional forms of inspection can also play important roles in fulfilling authorities’ human rights obligations.

Zimbabwe has started expressing concern that the opposition is exhibited an insufficient degree of political polarization. What a difference the new dispensation made. As we approach 2023s Election Day, the Zimbabwe political landscape has become a Grand Canyon uniting all political divides.

Despite a pervasive presence in politics, lying has played a role in formal models of elections, and the opposition have taken it a step further by lying to the international world in order to pile more sanctions on Zimbabwe. The Western world has developed a model that allows opposition parties  in the campaign stage to misrepresent their policy intentions if elected to office, and in which the willingness to lie varies across candidates. You will find that the opposition is more willing to lie and is favoured by those who advocate for a regime change. this advantage is limited by the electoral mechanism and to such an extent that more honest candidates win a significant fraction of elections. candidate honesty is assumed.

The Zimbabwean situation is simply the word of the opposition against that of the people of Zimbabwe. And, depending where you have read or heard about the accusations and counter-accusations flying between the opposition and the rest of Zimbabwe you will realise that the opposition is being a trifle “economical with the truth”. The fact that most of what Western world see will have originated in either leaks from unnamed witnesses, or via the as yet unsubstantiated claims on CCC complaining machine will have only further muddied the waters.
But the biggest problem the West and their boys in Zimbabwean opposition have is that a growing number of people, whether inside or outside the Western bubble, are finding it increasingly difficult to take either side at their word.

They have both long been devotees of what can be called strategic lying”. This is a technique coined by the opposition in their campaign and played masterfully during many elections campaigns in which they tell a deliberate lie with the purpose of shifting the news agenda onto their preferred territory.

It doesn’t matter if their lie is easily rebutted. The ultimate goal of strategic lying is to have an impact on the salience of issues. Calling for a guard rail against these lies to come from within the West quickly goes from curious to bewildering, along with the second embedded presumption that politics and compromise are a natural pairing rather than a contradiction in terms.

We must always remember that mud sticks visibly on clean clothes. This does not make mud part of the clean surface. Striking quick and hard is one of the key components of the strategic lie playbook, as the sanctions advocates demonstrated and could also be seen during the 2018 general election.

Clearly, strategic lying raises a number of major ethical issues, but there is also an important practical one.
The quality of our democracy depends on the quality of the political debate within the public sphere. New campaigning techniques of sanction begging represent a real threat to both the debate and our democracy and something needs to be done urgently to address this problem.
Each time something is to take place in the international space the opposition starts lying with a straight face. One wonders why was it easy for tendai Biti to skip court towards the United Nations General Assembly. It was all strategical. He was literally begging for a warrant of arrest so that they can tell the UN that they are being tormented for being the opposition. This explains why The three MDC infamous laddies of J Mamombe C Chimbiru and another absconded court few days before the UN Assembly. It was to portray Zimbabwe as an authoritarian nation.
It is more curious that social media is awash with the video of a bus alleged to have had a tear gas canister thrown in the bus full of passengers. This video does not show a single police officer in the vicinity.

If the tear smoke was thrown in by an officer surely this officer was way out of line.
If thorough investigations are done you will realise that this officer could have been a member of the opposition bent on soiling the name of our police force.

The opposition is so fond of lying such that there is no difference between a liar and an Opposition official. They naturally lie and have no shame for it.

If you continue looking at the space you will see a sharp increase in the cases of abuse of power. The reason is simply the CCC wants to have evidence to give to their handlers and have enough evidence to maintain sanctions.

For us to try and rebut the lies being peddled in the different forums it will look like we have something to hide.
It is evil that we have people who are in our country but seriously digging a hole to mess the country.
These liars must remember that if you drill a hole in a boat it will sink with you in it. Calling for sanctions does not give votes. It simply makes you an enemy of the people.

Zimbabwe has nothing to hide and looks forward for pathetic representative of the Zimbabwean opposition in the British House of Lords to come to Zimbabwe. We pray they will be able to see the fiction from reality.

Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in the whole world. – [email protected]

Another Zimbabwean Shot Dead In Cape Town

By-A Zimbabwean music promoter based in Cape Town, Ishmael Nkata, known as Mandebvu, has been gunned down in South Africa.

Mandevu was shot dead Friday night.

Macheso Buries Ex-Lover

By- Sungura music star Alick Macheso’s is said to have helped in the burial of a former lover, Petunia Rwizi.

Macheso dedicated one of his famous songs to Petunia.

She died at the age of 45.

Petunia recently succumbed to cancer and was laid to rest on 11 October at her rural home in Dirikwe Village of Nyanyadzi in Chimanimani District, according to Manica Post.

Macheso and Petunia have one child named Munashe who was born in 2000, the same year the song Petunia was released.

Ethiopian Airlines Kisses Bulawayo

KISSING BULAWAYO: Ethiopian Airlines yesterday made its maiden flight to skyes as it landed at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport, a key development in the aviation industry that will boost the tourism sector and ease international travel.
The airline arrived on schedule to a spectacular traditional water cannon salute.

The airline, which already flies into Zimbabwe through Harare and Victoria Falls, is set to provide service four times a week from Addis Ababa to Bulawayo through Victoria Falls.

The coming of more international airlines is testimony to the positive impact of Zimbabwe’s Open Skies Policy, which enhances the country’s attractiveness to potential investors.

When the Second Republic came into being in 2017, just three airlines were utilising the country’s airspace. Now more than 18 airlines are flying into the country.

Vintage cars escorted the Ethiopian Airline soon after landing for the first time at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo yesterday

Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Engineer Theodius Chinyanga said the Ethiopian Airline will aid in increasing economic growth in the country.

“We are cognisant of the critical role that air transport plays in the economic development of our country.

“The coming in of Ethiopian Airlines to JM International Airport will, without a doubt, spur on and encourage more exciting ground-breaking investment and trade ventures in other downstream sectors of our economy to the benefit of the nation.”

He stressed the need to embrace and utilise the opportunity provided by Ethiopian Airlines to grow tourism, trade, attract foreign direct investments, and create beneficial business relationships with the world.

The permanent secretary said the ministry will endeavour to increase connectivity, not only with the continent of Africa but with the rest of the world in line with the Government’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) focusing on the realisation of the country’s vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an Upper-Middle Income Economy by 2030.

Before Ethiopian Airlines came to Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport, the only other international flight in and out of the airport was to Johannesburg in South Africa, which is operated by Airlink.

“Therefore, with the coming in of this flight from Addis Ababa, we now have increased the connectivity between Bulawayo and the rest of the continent and the world at large,” said the permanent secretary.

The airline’s chief commercial officer, Mr Lemma Yadesga Gudeta expressed confidence that the airline will facilitate easy international access by increasing connectivity.

“Our new flight to Bulawayo creates even stronger socio-economic ties between Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. It also has a significant role in international accessibility and boosts the country’s tourism sector.”

In a statement, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr Mesfin Tasew, said the Bulawayo route will enhance international connectivity and facilitate trade within Africa and beyond.

“The commencement of flights to Bulawayo is crucial in connecting Southern Africa to the world with our 130 destinations in five continents. We are glad to serve Bulawayo, the industrial hub of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa, accelerating trade with our cargo and passenger services. Our flights to multiple cities in a country indicate our solid commitment to serve our customers and support our continent as the best pan-African carrier,” said Mr Tasew.

He said Ethiopian Airlines’ growing connectivity is backing the utilisation of the huge potential of the continent’s tourism industry.

“The new flight to Bulawayo will add convenience to travellers, thereby activating the trade activities in the industrial hub of southern Africa.”

Recently, Ethiopian Airlines was the official carrier for the international buyers and journalists who attended this year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, after they entered into a partnership with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA). —Chronicle

Decades Of Misery Under Zanu PF Oppression

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

Zimbabwe is a nation in crisis.

It has been in a series of structural and interlocking crises that have converged to produce stagnation and catastrophe in the last few years. Politically, economically and socially, Zimbabwe is at a standstill. After November 2017, it fell into a deeper Constitutional crisis with broken foundations of legitimacy.

Sadly, there has been no movement; in fact there has been reversal and regression. Thus for the past 4 decades Zimbabweans have survived in a broken, failed and fragile State paralysed by a crisis of leadership, poor governance, non -inclusive institutions, low capacity and absence of a common vision. It has been in a vicious trap dominated by political instability, conflict, underdevelopment and a dysfunctional State.

Indeed the nation State has been bogged down by a massive social dislocation, collapsed economy, rampant poverty, underdevelopment, inequality, corruption and patronage. That State, the Zimbabwean State has sadly been a captured and conflated entity serving the interests of a party and a few elites, whilst retreating from its social and economic obligations to citizens. In the net result, the Zimbabwean citizen operated outside the realm of the State fending for himself in a difficult environment characterised by low per capita income and poor social services indicators.

It is the severe economic crisis that has been the most illustrative of Zimbabwe’s leadership crisis. The economic crisis is the single most visible illustration of the government’s gross failure and incompetence.

The economy has been a rickety affair of severe boom and bust cycles characterised by chapters of severe unprecedented hyperinflation, a collapsed currency and massive unemployment to the current status quo of low productivity, debt unsustainability, deflation and stagnation.

This situation requires robust, brave, radical and proactive responses, solutions and actions. In this regard, we, as the CCC , offer this smart response with actions and solutions to the agenda for real transformation in Zimbabwe.

We offer our promise and commitment to a New Zimbabwe under our soon to be availed New Zimbabwe Document.

Man Escapes Jail Sentence After Bashing Wife

AN abusive man from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo who brutally assaulted his wife and knocked out her front teeth after a heated argument was lucky to escape jail agony when he was sentenced to perform 210 hours of unpaid labour.

General Ncube (25) pleaded guilty to a charge of physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

Ncube was initially sentenced to 12 months in prison and had six months of the sentence suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.

The other six months were suspended on condition that he completes 210 hours of community service.

The court heard that on 23 September 2022 at around 9am Siboniso Ndebele (23), asked her husband Ncube for permission to visit her relatives in New Luveve suburb and he turned down her request.

After denying her permission to visit her relatives, Ndebele told Ncube that she was leaving and immediately afterwards she left and headed to her relative’s house.

While she was approaching Cowdray Park on her way to New Luveve, she realised Ncube was following her.

Ncube then caught up with his wife and assaulted her using a stick all over her body and forced her to go back to their house.

Before they reached their place, Ndebele managed to escape and she sought refuge at a neighbour’s house.

Her daring husband came and pulled her out of the house.

When they arrived at their house, Ncube pushed her inside and locked the door and started assaulting her with a rope all over her body.

After his violent act, Ncube locked the door and left his wife lying unconscious on the floor.

She was later rescued by neighbours who came and managed to open the door.

As a result of the assault, Ndebele lost her front upper tooth and she sustained a swollen body, thighs and hands and suffered a severe headache.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Ncube.

Harare Man Bashes Wife Over Cellphone

NEWLY-WEDS, Aubrey ‘Auby K’ Chikonye, and wife Ratidzai Charumbira, appeared in court yesterday in a physical abuse storm, which was triggered by a dispute over a cellphone.

The matter was reported at Borrowdale Police Station under CR349/10/22.

Chikonye, who stands accused of violating the Domestic Violence Act by allegedly physically abusing his wife, appeared before Harare magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube.

He was released on free bail and the case was remanded to November 23 for the commencement of trial.

Allegations are that on Tuesday this week, Charumbira was asleep when Chikonye returned home from work.

Chikonye is reported to have woken up his wife and requested to go through the call log on her cellphone.

It is the State’s case that Charumbira refused, and this resulted in a misunderstanding between the two.

Chikonye is said to have allegedly started assaulting Charumbira, first by allegedly suffocating her with a pillow, until she became breathless.

He reportedly continued slapping her on the face and back before pushing her off the bed.

Charumbira is said to have fallen onto the floor, landing on her forehead, and sustained injuries on her forehead and upper lip.

Man Chokes Wife With Pillow During Dispute

Rahman Gumbo Loses First Match In Botswana Top Flight

Veteran Zimbabwean coach Rahman “Dr. Rush” Gumbo started the new Botswana Premier League season on a losing note when his side Sua Flamingoes were edged 0-1 by Nico United on Saturday.

Flamingoes is home to the Zimbabwean trio of former CAPS United striker Dominic Chungwa, former TelOne forward Mcebisi Moyo, and midfielder Tendai Nyamusi.

Thatayaone Magazi’s solitary strike three minutes into the second half proved decisive as Flamingoes returned to Francistown empty handed.

Chungwa had a chance to thrust the Flam Boys ahead in the first half but his effort missed the target.

Mcebisi was replaced in the first half due to injury.

Just like last season, Gumbo’s men have lost their first league game of the season.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Mnangagwa Takes Country Deeper Into Economic Abyss

Young People And Self Harm

Key facts

Over 1.5 million adolescents and young adults aged 10–24 years died in 2020, nearly 5000 every day.
Young adolescents aged 10–14 years have the lowest risk of death of all age groups.
Injuries (including road traffic injuries and drowning), violence, self-harm and maternal conditions are the leading causes of death among adolescents and young adults
Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.
Early onset of substance use is associated with higher risks of developing dependence and other problems during adult life, and people of younger ages are disproportionately affected by substance use compared with people of older ages.
Globally, there were 41 births per 1000 to girls aged 15–19 years in 2020.

Overview
Survival chances for adolescents and young adults vary greatly across the world. In 2020, the probability of dying among those aged 10–24 years was highest in sub-Saharan Africa, Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), northern Africa and southern Asia (1). The average global probability of a 10-year-old dying before age 24 was 6 times higher in sub-Saharan Africa than in North America and Europe.

Main health issues
Injuries
Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death and disability among adolescents. In 2019, nearly 100 000 adolescents (10–19 years) died as a result of road traffic accidents (2). Many of those who died were vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists or users of motorized two-wheelers. In many countries, road safety laws need to be made more comprehensive, and enforcement of such laws needs to be strengthened. Furthermore, young drivers need advice on driving safely, while laws that prohibit driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs need to be strictly enforced among all age groups. Blood alcohol levels should be set lower for young drivers than for adults. Graduated licences for novice drivers with zero-tolerance for drink-driving are recommended.

Drowning is also among the top causes of death among adolescents; more than 40 000 adolescents, over three quarters of them boys, are estimated to have drowned in 2019. Teaching children and adolescents to swim is an essential intervention to prevent these deaths.

Violence
Interpersonal violence is among the leading causes of death in adolescents and young people globally. Its prominence varies substantially by world region. It causes nearly a third of all adolescent male deaths in low- and middle-income countries in the WHO Region of the Americas. According to the global school-based student health survey 42% of adolescent boys and 37% of adolescent girls were exposed to bullying. Sexual violence also affects a significant proportion of youth: 1 in 8 young people report sexual abuse.

Violence during adolescence also increases the risks of injury, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, mental health problems, poor school performance and dropout, early pregnancy, reproductive health problems, and communicable and noncommunicable diseases.

Effective prevention and response strategies include promoting parenting and early childhood development; addressing school-based bullying prevention, programmes that develop life and social skills, and community approaches to reduce access to alcohol and firearms. Effective and empathetic care for adolescent survivors of violence, including ongoing support, can help with the physical and psychological consequences.

Mental health
Depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is the second leading cause of death in people aged 15–19 years (2). Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10–19 years. Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.

Many factors have an impact on the well-being and mental health of adolescents. Violence, poverty, stigma, exclusion, and living in humanitarian and fragile settings can increase the risk of developing mental health problems. The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.

Building socioemotional skills in children and adolescents and providing them with psychosocial support in schools and other community settings can help promote good mental health. Programmes to help strengthen the ties between adolescents and their families and improve quality of home environments are also important. If problems arise, they should be detected and timely managed by competent and caring health workers.

Adolescent mental health fact sheet

Alcohol and drug use
Drinking alcohol among adolescents is a major concern in many countries. It can reduce self-control and increase risky behaviours, such as unsafe sex or dangerous driving. It is an underlying cause of injuries (including those due to road traffic accidents), violence and premature deaths. It can also lead to health problems in later life and affects life expectancy. Worldwide, more than a quarter of all people aged 15–19 years are current drinkers, amounting to 155 million adolescents. Prevalence of heavy episodic drinking among adolescents aged 15–19 years was 13.6% in 2016, with males most at risk.

Cannabis is the most widely used psychoactive drug among young people with about 4.7% of people aged 15–16 years using it at least once in 2018. Alcohol and drug use in children and adolescents is associated with neurocognitive alterations which can lead to behavioural, emotional, social and academic problems in later life.

Prevention of alcohol and drug use are important areas of public health actions and may include population-based strategies and interventions, activities in school, community, family and on the individual level. Setting a minimum age for buying and consuming alcohol and eliminate marketing and advertising to minors are among the key strategies for reducing drinking among adolescents.

Tobacco use
The vast majority of people using tobacco today began doing so when they were adolescents. Prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors (under 18 years) and increasing the price of tobacco products through higher taxes, banning tobacco advertising and ensuring smoke-free environments are crucial. Globally, at least 1 in 10 adolescents aged 13–15 years uses tobacco, although there are areas where this figure is much higher.

HIV/AIDS
An estimated 1.7 million adolescents (age 10–19 years) were living with HIV in 2019 with around 90% in the WHO African Region (3). While there have been substantial declines in new infections amongst adolescents from a peak in 1994, adolescents still account for about 10% of new adult HIV infections, with three-quarters amongst adolescent girls (4). Additionally, while new infections may have fallen in many of the most severely affected countries, recent testing coverage remains low suggesting that many adolescents and young people living with HIV may not know their status (5).

Adolescents living with HIV have worse access to antiretroviral treatment, adherence to treatment, retention in care and viral suppression. A key factor contributing to these is limited provision of adolescent-friendly services including psychosocial interventions and support.

Adolescents and young people need to know how to protect themselves from HIV infection and must also have the means to do so. This includes being able to obtain access HIV prevention interventions including voluntary medical male circumcision, condoms and pre-exposure prophylaxis, better access to HIV testing and counselling, and stronger links to HIV treatment services for those who test HIV positive.

Other infectious diseases
Thanks to improved childhood vaccination, adolescent deaths and disability from measles have fallen markedly. For example, adolescent mortality from measles fell by 90% in the African Region between 2000 and 2012.

Diarrhoea and lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia) are estimated to be among the top 10 causes of death for adolescents 10–14 years. These two diseases, along with meningitis, are all among the top 5 causes of adolescent death in African low- and middle-income countries.

Infectious diseases like with human papilloma virus that normally occurs after onset of sexual activity can lead to both short-term disease (genital warts) during adolescence but more importantly also leads to cervical and other cancers several decades later. Early adolescence (9–14 years) is the optimal time for vaccination against HPV infection and it is estimated that if 90% of girls globally get the HPV vaccine more than 40 million lives could be saved over the next century. However, it is estimated that in 2019 only 15% of girls globally received the vaccine.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer fact sheet

Early pregnancy and childbirth
Approximately 12 million girls aged 15–19 years and at least 777 000 girls under 15 years give birth each year in developing regions. Complications from pregnancy and childbirth are among the leading causes of death for girls aged 15–19 years globally.

The UN Population Division puts the global adolescent birth rate in 2020 at 41 births per 1000 girls this age, and country rates range from 1 to over 200 births per 1000 girls (6). This indicates a marked decrease since 1990. This decrease is reflected in a similar decline in maternal mortality rates among girls aged 15–19 years.

One of the specific targets of the health Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) is that by 2030, the world should ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.

Adolescents need and have a right to comprehensive sexuality education, a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of sexuality. Better access to contraceptive information and services can reduce the number of girls becoming pregnant and giving birth at too young an age. Laws that are enforced that specify a minimum age of marriage at 18 can help.

Girls who do become pregnant need access to quality antenatal care. Where permitted by law, adolescents who opt to terminate their pregnancies should have access to safe abortion.

Woman Slapped At Court By Lover’s Wife

By A Correspondent- A Mutare woman was yesterday arrested at Mutare Civil Court after slapping her husband’s alleged lover who was applying for a peace order against her.

Sandra Mukasi slapped Tinotenda Kamangira of 3897 Phase 2 Chikanga as they waited outside the court room to appear before Magistrate Perseverance Makala.

Kamangira had approached the court seeking a peace order against Mukasi who was allegedly harassing her after catching her in bed with her husband Nicholas Karonga.

A peace order was granted and later Mukasi was arrested and taken to Mutare Central Police station.

The court heard that Mukasi left Karonga and their children and went to South Africa in search of green pastures.

Karonga who works at Red Cross Society in Sakubva met Kamangira who was doing her nurse aid attachment at the same organisation and the two started dating. Karonga allegedly lied to Kamangira that he was a widower.

Mukasi

came back home unannounced and found the two lovebirds cohabiting at her matrimonial home. Mukasi and Kamangira exchanged harsh words and Mukasi allegedly continued harassing her.

Kamangira then sought a peace order against Mukasi and before the matter was heard by Magistrate Makala, Mukasi slapped Kamangira in full view of Police details leading to her arrest.

“It is true that I dated her husband while I was on attachment but I didn’t know that he was married. When I became aware of it, I stepped aside but still after that Mukasi is in the habit of harassing and assaulting me like she has just done, said a sobbing Kamangira.”

Woman To Get Own Hubby’s Full Salary

By A Correspondent- A Harare woman has won the right to get her husband’s entire salary into her bank account every month.

The money will be used for the maintenance for their three children.

The woman, only identified as Mandaza, told the Harare Civil Court yesterday that she wanted her husband, Enock Tigere’s pay of $160 000.

She accused Tigere of being an irresponsible man, and magistrate Ayanda Dlamini upheld her application.

“When he receives his salary, he does not come home until the money is finished, and the children are the ones who end up suffering.

“If it is possible, I want the company he works for, to put his salary into my account.

“It is better to get his whole salary than watch him drag down the life of the children and leave them to suffer.”

Tigere consented to his wife’s demands.

“We are legally married and stay together, so you can give her what she wants.

“After all, the money is for taking care of my children,” he said.

Man Hauled To Court Over R2

By A Correspondent- A man from Nkulumane suburb appeared before Western Commonage Court magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja facing charges of allegedly robbing a 13-year-old boy of R2.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to 1 November 2022 for trial.

The incident which happened in Nkulumane suburb was reported to the police leading to the arrest of 34-year-old Josiah Chagwedera.

The court heard that Chagwedera who was walking with his dog along a road which leads to the shops bumped into the 13-year-old boy who was coming from the opposite direction.

It is reported that when he met the boy he blocked his way and demanded money while threatening to set his dog on him.

The seemingly fearful boy offered to give him a loaf of bread which he was carrying but Chagwedera insisted that he wanted money, forcing the boy to surrender R2 to him.

It is alleged that Chagwedera slapped the boy as he demanded more money. He later released the boy while sternly ordering him to go straight home.

The boy narrated what had transpired to his parents leading to the arrest of the accused.

Bulawayo High Court Quartet Suspended Over Forgery

By A Correspondent- Four senior officials from the Bulawayo High Court have been suspended on allegations of forging a law firm’s date stamp in a move allegedly meant to influence the outcome of a Supreme Court case.

The four —  Bulawayo High Court registrar Felix Hwara, court clerk Joyce Ngoma and deputy registrars; Andrew Ngwenya and Achidaishe Simari — were suspended to allow internal investigations to go ahead.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) head of corporate services, Mr Daniel Nemukuyu, confirmed the suspension and said investigations were underway.

“We can confirm that our four officers based in Bulawayo were suspended after corruption allegations were raised against them. The suspension is meant to allow internal investigations. The investigations have since commenced and we will be guided by the outcome. As the Judicial Service Commission, we do not condone corruption,” said Mr Nemukuyu.

While Mr Nemukuyu could not shed more light on the corruption allegations, sources close to the matter said the quartet is accused of forging a law firm’s rubber stamp. Allegations are that the four, acting in cahoots, used a forged stamp on papers that were supposed to be served to a law firm (name withheld) which was representing an applicant in a matter that was set for the Supreme Court.

The papers which were supposed to inform the applicants of when the matter was slated to be set down were, however, not served to the lawyers but were filed in the court’s records. As a result, that influenced a ruling against the applicant, and the lawyers argued that they were not served with the papers. Upon inquiry, the lawyers were shown the papers which were filed in the court records and had their stamp which was “proof” that they had indeed received the papers.

However, the lawyers allegedly discovered that the stamp was forged as the date was in a different colour from the one they use. Forgery allegations were raised leading to the suspension of the four. The JSC has previously reiterated its stance of zero tolerance to corruption within the country’s justice system, warning that stern measures would be taken against rotten apples.

This has seen the JSC so far busting a corrupt cartel at Nyanga Magistrates’ Court involving two clerks and some top officials.

In Masvingo, a magistrate was dismissed over gross incompetence linked to alleged corruption, while in Rusape the JSC resolved to transfer nearly the entire staff at the station following reports of alleged corruption. In August a former Kwekwe resident magistrate and his clerk of court were sentenced to a combined 24 months in prison after they were convicted of abuse of office.

Some of the corruption cases that the judiciary has taken zero tolerance on include receiving bribes, violation of court rules and other malpractices.

Zanu Pf Congress Recycles “Deadwood”

By A Correspondent- Several forgotten Zanu-PF stalwarts had their political careers resurrected at the ruling party’s just ended congress after spending years in the cold following the creation of a council of elders and appointments into the central committee by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The Zanu-PF congress ended in Harare yesterday after 80-year-old Mnangagwa was endorsed as the ruling party’s candidate for next year’s presidential elections.

wife Auxillia Mnangagwa also officially became a member of the central committee following in the footsteps of former first lady Grace Mugabe.

Grace Mugabe rose to become a politburo member and tried to influence the succession of her late husband Robert Mugabe, which many analysts believe precipitated the 2017 coup that toppled the octogenarian.

Mnangagwa succeeded Mugabe with promises to modernise both the ruling party and the country, but he is increasingly being compared to his authoritarian predecessor.

As

expected, he did not make any changes to the party’s presidium as he re-appointed his deputies Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, while chairperson Oppah Muchinguri retained her post.

Mohadi resigned from government in 2020 after he was caught up in a messy sex scandal involving married women.

Mnangagwa has stuck to one VP and in the process doing away with a Mugabe tradition to appoint a former Zapu member and someone from Matabeleland as one of his deputies in government.

Zanu-PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu, commissar Mike Bimha,  women’s league  boss Mabel Chinomona, secretary for security Lovemore Matuke and secretary for war veterans Douglas Mahiya and finance secretary Patrick Chinamasa also retained their posts in the politburo.

The congress also approved the constitution of a council of elders with former cabinet ministers Josaya Hungwe, Tshinga Dube and Angeline Masuku emerging as some of the inaugural members.

Hungwe, who was a senator at independence in 1980, served as a minister for many years.

Former ministers Francis Nhema and Nicholas Goche also made a comeback after some years on the sidelines.

The former ministers found themselves in political wilderness following the removal of Mugabe from office in November 2017.

Goche was fired for hobnobbing with former vice-president Joice Mujuru in 2013 and has not held a senior position since then.

Former Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora and ex-Finance deputy minister Terrence Mukupe also made a comeback into the central committee.

Dokora was booted out in 2018.

Other members who made it into the central committee include party secretary for legal affairs Paul Mangwana, Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs minister Abednico Ncube and former Harare Provincial Affairs minister Miriam Chikukwa, who were appointed into the central committee by Mnangagwa.

Businessman James Makamba, Edgar Mbwembwe and lawyer Jonathan Samkange also made the list.

Mnangagwa also extended an olive branch to other former senior Zanu-PF members to re-join the former liberation movement.

“Party structures must never block people from joining and re-joining the party for personal interests,” he said in his closing remarks yesterday.

“Party structures and leadership at every level must resist the temptation to close any individuals or group of persons from coming into Zanu-PF on the basis of preferences or even preservation of a few, or that if he enters he will take my position.

Macheso’s Petunia Dies

By A Correspondent- Alick Macheso’s former lover, Petunia Rwizi, to whom he dedicated one of his popular songs, Petunia, has died.

Petunia died at the age of 45.

Apart Afrom the suggestive dances, we saw nothing wrong with that because we all know that the two, Macheso and my sister Petunia, once had an affair and they had a child together.

9-Year-Old Girl Byo Girl Is 8-Months Pregnant

In what could be the first in the country, a nine-year-old girl is admitted to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) as she is 33 weeks pregnant and is expected to give birth at the institution.

This comes a few weeks after a 13-year-old girl from Mkhosana Township in Victoria Falls wrote part of her Zimsec Grade Seven examinations on a hospital bed soon after giving birth at Victoria Falls Hospital. In the Victoria Falls case, the girl was not aware that she was pregnant until a month before giving birth.

The UBH case has seen the nine-year-old, who is about one month away from giving birth, being monitored by a team of specialist doctors and nurses owing to the delicate nature of the pregnancy.

Reports have indicated that the nine-year-old is from Tsholotsho Discrict in Matabeleland North Province with officials from the Department of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare investigating circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. Sources claimed she could have been raped and impregnated by a “close person”, hence the investigations that also involve the police.

A Sunday News crew last week visited UBH and spoke to the acting chief executive officer of the institution, Dr Harrison Rambanapasi, who confirmed the matter, but could not share finer details. He said the girl actually conceived when she was eight years old, which was made possible by a rare condition of precocious puberty (development of sexual maturation earlier than the normal age). Dr Rambanapasi said ordinarily puberty should start at 11 years.
