ZBC In Catch 22 As Prophet T Freddy Seeks Restoration Of Music, Radio Programs On Air

By A Correspondent| The national broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) now appears to be in a quandary over the restoration of gospel musician and cleric Prophet T Freddy’s music, commercial and non-commercial radio programs on air which were suspended across all stations pending the outcome of a court case which involved their employee Rutendo Makuti and the Goodness and Mercy Ministries leader.

In a letter from Prophet T Freddy’s lawyer Mr Jivas Mudimu of Mudimu Law Chambers directed to ZBC Acting Director Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, Rumbidzai Moyo gleaned by this publication, the Man of God sought to have the national broadcaster restore his music and church programs on air following his acquittal by the court on rape and physical abuse allegations levelled against him by ZBC Radio Zimbabwe presenter Rutendo Makuti.

The letter dated 2 November 2021, the state broadcaster wrote to the Goodness and Mercy Ministries leader advising him of the suspension of his church programs to “allow the due court processes to take place … to prevent any conflict of interest that may affect the legal processes”.

Freddy, through his lawyer, contends that since he was cleared of all rape and physical abuse charges by the court of law, his music and the suspended commercial and non- commercial programs must be restored on air so that he does not suffer prejudice.

He also highlighted that in the interest of fairness, ZBC must also consider that two of their employees; Rutendo Makuti and Maushe Mutetepi an engineer, who both stand accused of extortion in a case in which he is the complainant were allowed to continue reporting for duty despite the criminal charges they face before the courts, at the risk of damaging the reputation of the national broadcaster.

It is against this background that Freddy sought recourse considering the huge audience his music, commercial and non-commercial programs commanded before they were summarily pulled off air.

Moreover, his church ministry has been religiously paying for their commercial programs since 2015.

ZBC is still yet to respond to the request.

At Nyaradzo We Will Kill Everyone Who Criticises Madam Boss, Mai Titi | VIDEO

Addressing a top cabinet minister, Monica Mutsvangwa on Tuesday, the sociallite Madam Boss requested for a law to kill everyone who criticizes her. She said: “As a person is saying such things as- we saw Madam Boss at such-and-such a place;

Is there not a law, so that such a person is immediately nyaradzwa’d- put down(killed), because it messes our jobs. I am a brand ambassador for Nyaradzo; Corporates don’t like seeing people engaged in drama; they don’t like getting involved in clutter or noise.

” So that person could attack the Nyaradzo company, saying ‘why did Nyaradzo hire her? Madam Boss did this, Mai Titi did that, BusStop TV did that.’

“Is there not a law, so that while a person is still speaking they are immediately hacked down by the police?” LAUGH LAUGH.

SONG LYRICS:

By Simba Chikanza | At Nyaradzo we will kill everyone

We will kill everyone who criticises Madam Boss.

And here we are, asking the govt, to create a law to kill everyone who criticises Madam Boss, and Mai Titi.

And here we are, asking Monica, to delete the history, that she donated her body to the Comrades, in the war of Liberation.

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | A report has been circulating of arrested soldiers in Mutoko with pictures of four men tied with ropes The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has dismissed as fake report. There was no soldier serving or retired who was arrested during robbery in Mutoko. The story of an armed robbery that allegedly happened in Mutoko on Wednesday is fake and malicious meant to continue soiling the name of the army. Khupe Red Watch

KEEP AN EYE ON THOKOZANI KHUPE

The case of Thokozani Khupe must be handled with much care because it is very fragile and people still abhor Khupe’s previous traits and behaviour.

Thokozani Khupe on the day she was removed from the HICC during her party’s national Congress

By Leonard Koni | Joining CCC at this critical moment should not be restricted to new members only but the olive branch must also be extended even to those who deserted the party when the struggle needed them most.

It is the duty of the CCC to read riot acts to members who would have sold out or abondoned the struggle during turbulent times.

Every vote and voice now counts as we approach the 2023 harmonised elections and the Citizens Coalition for Change must make use of every vote they come across and make synergies with other democratic forces.

The fact is that she wants to join CCC and the door is not closed and still open for anyone regardless of their past history.

Thokozani Khupe is like a candle which loses nothing by lighting another candle.

With the little she have Thokozani Khupe can be useful judging by her deep roots, high command and following in the Matebeland region She is likely to add more weight and experience in the new CCC if she is accommodated.

Abednico Bhebhe is another grassroots mobiliser and can secure maximum votes as well for CCC to win resoundingly. The leadership must be allowed to constantly keep an eye on such people and act promptly in the event that they misfire.

People must desist from using too much emotions or premature ejaculation when coming to decisions making.

I am not a fan of Khupe considering the way she contributed into the shredding of MDC- Alliance but her coming back to joining CCC shows that there is no any other opposition party which is very strong to remove the junta from power.

If Thokozani Khupe has worked so much hard with Douglas Mwonzora sure Bulawayo was going to be in the hands of MDC-T.

She must join the yellow revolution on conditions. It must not be automatic for her to land an executive post but should start from the lowest rungs then climbing up the ladder like everyone else. She must prove to the CCC family that she is now a changed person.

It would be also wise on her part to apologise to the nation for causing emotional stress to the entire democratic forces who mostly needed her comfort during the trying times. Then she must just come as an ordinary card carrying member and start mobilising to get trust from the people.

A game of politics is a game of numbers and must be understood in that context. One must way lay his enemy.

Mugabe was a shrewd character a dictactor in the making and the most hated leader but when he endorsed Nelson Chamisa in 2018 during his last days people were excited and happy that he was going to sway some crucial votes. No doubt that some people voted for Chamisa just because Mugabe endorsed him.

There are no permanent enemies or friends in politics only permanent interests.

Not sure about this rumour circulating but if Thozani Khupe joins CCC this will give Mwonzora and Mnangagwa sleepless nights on which strategy to use in order to win the Matabeleland vote.

Citizens Coalition for Change is an inclusive democratic institution which will allow every citizen of Zimbabwe to be part and parcel of it’s journey to a new Zimbabwe.

Mugabe Minister’s Wife Faces Eviction

By- The late former deputy minister for Lands and Resettlement Cde Tendai Savanhu’s widow, Tendai, is facing eviction from her Glen Lorne Mansion.

Mrs Savanhu recently got her property attached for failing to settle rental arrears.

The company owning her Glen Lorne mansion, obtained a High Court order for her eviction.

T and S Marketing, is a family company in which the house, number 1 High Saddle Close Folyjon Crescent, Glen Lorne, Harare, is registered under.
The widow is embroiled in an acrimonious legal combat with her late husband’s estranged wife who has teamed up with her children to disinherit the surviving spouse of the late Savanhu’s estate.

On the strength of a default judgement, T and S Marketing has set in motion processes to eject Tendai and her children who have been struggling to service their utility bills since the death of Savanhu.

Savanhu succumbed to Covid-19 related complications.
T and S Marketing was granted a default judgement after Tendai failed to show up at the High Court to oppose the application that sought her ejection.
“Whereupon after reading papers filed of record and hearing counsel, a default judgment be hereby entered against the Defendant,” reads the order that was granted last week on Thursday.
“Defendant (Tendai) and all persons claiming title through her from the premises known as House No. 1 High Saddle Close Folyjon Crescent, Glen Lorne, Harare, which premises belong to the Plaintiff be and are hereby evicted from the premises. The order further reads, “Interest on the above sums at the prescribed rate namely 5 percent per annum with effect from the date of summons to date of payment in full. An order declaring all movable property of the Defendant executable.”
On Tuesday last week, the messenger of court attached Tendai’s property for failing to pay electricity, water charges and levies.
The property attached includes carpet, microwave, three-piece sofas, two plasma televisions, double door fridge and 10 chairs.
According to the notice of execution the estimated values and actual values of the attached property will be determined on the auction date by the auctioneer.
Since November last year, Tendai has been embroiled in massive showdowns with her husband’s former wife Sabina Mashayamombe.
The widow dragged Sabina and her son Tatenda to the High Court on allegations of trying to disinherit her and her children.

Police In Vapostori Violent Clashes

By- Violence erupted at the Mugodhi Apostolic Shrine headquarters in Wedza at the weekend as factions clashed over control of the church.

About 20 police officers from Wedza had to be called in to stop the violence involving the Washington Mugodhi followers against those following Aaron Munodawafa. Both parties claimed ownership of the church.

The factional wars started when Tadewu Mugodhi, who died of cancer last year, was on his death bed.

Tadewu anointed his son Washington reportedly against the church’s constitution which stipulated that a deputy bishop would replace him in the event that he vacated office.

During the late Mugodhi’s memorial service,Washington imposed himself on the position and continued to hold office to date

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were in progress.

According to the police, on February 11, Munodawafa led his followers to the popular gathering known as Synod, but was denied entry to the shrine by security details hired by Mugodhi.

Munodawafa then took his followers to Matsine Primary School near the shrine where they spent the night.

The following day, about 600 members of the faction then returned to the shrine and forced their way in, resulting in the confrontation.

Both parties filed police reports against each other.

Pastor Defrauds Girlfriend

By- A Zimbabwean bible school student who is based in South Africa is at odds with his former lover after he allegedly duped her of R23000 in a rabbit project.

Praise Goveya, who is enrolled with AFM Theological Seminary Bible School, was allegedly given R23K by Memory Mapite, during the subsistence of their relationship.

The money was meant to start a rabbit project and the pair agreed that Mapite injects the capital.

She allegedly deposited the money into Goveya’s account and he bought 12 rabbits.
Mapite has since engaged lawyers to deal with the matter since Goveya has changed the script to suggest she didn’t inject anything into the project.
Contacted for comment Goveya did not respond, but cleared a friend to speak to H-Metro.
“We are coming back to you, let me hear what he (Praise) has to say but he asked me to talk to you,” said the friend.
He never came back with the feedback. Instead, Goveya instructed his wife to contact Mapite.
“Dear Memory Mapite, stop your claims on my rabbits,” read a message from Goveya’s wife.
“On January 18, I received messages about you and my husband from the number (protected), which I believe that it was you because, according to my research, the IP ADDRESS was from the same phone that you messaged me with on January 21, with your number (protected).
“My silence on this matter was not (a sign of being) stupid, you dated my husband, who is lawfully wedded, and you started a rabbit project together which I believed was his project, only to know now that you were behind the financing of it.
“I then bought my rabbits, together with my husband, now I hear that you want to claim the 14 rabbits that are in my name, hauone kuti wakundijairira?
“You further went on social media claiming that you bought a bed and a sofa for him.
“Do you know that dating a married man is a serious offence that is criminal not civil, please leave my rabbits alone, as much as I am too peaceful to not fight publicly, (when it comes to) my money, I will fight you.
“I demand a stop to this, I will fly to South Africa soon, not for drama but for my rabbits, so please stay out of that.”
Mapite said she just wanted her money back.
“I want my money, why does he want to benefit from what he didn’t work for? Munhu anoda kudya zvaasina kushandira?
“Why does he act in that manner, munhu ari kuita chifundisi? “He lied to me that he was divorcing his wife. I was the one who was working and we came up with the business idea.
“I funded it but now he is saying I am not part of it.” She added: “My lawyer sent him a letter of demand and he was given seven days to respond.
“All the expenses have accumulated to R39K.”
Allegations are that Goveya went on to post pictures of him, with Mapite, in the church group.

Jittery Mnangagwa Issues Fresh Threat To Teachers

By A Correspondent- Government yesterday threatened to expel all striking teachers and school heads who fail to report for duty by Tuesday next week and replace them with college graduates and unemployed trained educators.

The threat came despite the High Court yesterday overturning last week’s suspension of educators by Primary and Secondary Education minister Evelyn Ndlovu.

Teachers dragged Ndlovu to the High Court after she summarily dismissed those who had not reported for work since schools opened for the first term on February 7 citing incapacitation.

But the Public Service Commission (PSC), in a statement, said teachers, who failed to report for work by February 22, would be deemed to have resigned from the civil service and would not be allowed to reapply.

Teachers and school heads, who are demanding the pre-October 2018 salary of US$540, have rejected the government offer of a 20% pay increase and US$100 cash to be deducted from their local currency salary component.

“The opening of schools has brought to the fore the importance of safeguarding the inalienable right of every Zimbabwean child to an education as provided for in section 75 of the Constitution,” the PSC statement read.

“Unemployed trained teachers, university and college graduates in the sciences, engineering, vocational areas and other disciplines who are interested in joining the teaching profession should ensure that they are registered at the nearest district education offices as the recruitment process shall begin soon after February 22, 2022.

“Those reporting for duty but not teaching will also be deemed to have resigned. Those deemed to have resigned shall not be eligible for this recruitment. Government has taken the position that it will now work with those who demonstrate their commitment by performing their duties at all times to serve the nation.”

Teachers’ representatives said they would fight for their rights.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said: “We warned the government that it was going to be an uphill task to call teachers to schools without paying them first. Teachers are incapacitated and we need a comprehensive roadmap to be followed in addressing our issues.”

The PTUZ also petitioned Education International, a global federation of teachers’ trade unions which is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa is attending the European Union/African Union summit, to intervene to resolve their impasse with the government.

“We are requesting Education International to intervene on our behalf and engage the government of Zimbabwe to avert a labour crisis.  It is important to note that the government can afford to act in blatant disregard of normal labour relations with workers because it has consistently failed to adhere to International Labour Organisation Conventions 151 and 154 which obliges it to adhere to good labour relations,” the PTUZ letter dated February 15, read.

Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Union chairperson Obert Masaraure said: “The employer cannot resign on behalf of the employee. Government is in a clear state of confusion.  Our members remain incapacitated despite the government threats that they will fire those who cannot attend duty. We have already taken steps for our legal action against the goverment directive.”

Legal expert Tawanda Mapuranga said government’s decision had no legal backing.

“It’s a silly decision, it is legally incompetent. It is a decision that has been motivated by political interests. The government cannot give an order on a blanket level like that. Legally, they have to start at an individual level. ”

Parents that spoke to NewsDay yesterday said the government ran the risk of employing inexperienced teachers, compromising education standards.

Meanwhile, High Court judge Justice Fatima Chikapamambo Maxwell set aside the suspension of teachers which was announced by Ndlovu last week. This was in response to a court application by the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) seeking nullification of Ndlovu’s statement which suspended teachers.

Artuz was represented by Noble Chinhanu and Tatenda Zvobgo of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

In her ruling, Justice Maxwell declared: “The Press statement by the respondent is hereby declared to be unconstitutional and unlawful and is hereby set aside in its entirety.

Ndlovu did not file an opposing submission. She also did not attend the hearing and was ordered to meet the cost of the suit.-newsday

Zanu PF Supporters Bash CCC Members

Tinashe Sambiri|Unruly Zanu PF supporters severely assaulted Citizens’ Coalition For Change( CCC) members in Harare on Wednesday.

The CCC members were accompanying party vice president Hon Tendai Biti during his campaign programme in Harare East.

They were assaulted with iron bars for wearing yellow regalia.

In a statement, Hon Biti’s aide, Emmanuel Zellers Gumbo said:

“In Harare East, Zanu Pf thugs led by one Ranga have just brutally tortured Citizens Coalition For Change members using iron bars for wearing yellow Advocate Nelson Chamisa branded t-shirts.

We’re currently at Mabvuku Police station.”

Don’t Steal People’s Victory, Chigumba Warned

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change for Change( Namibia) has challenged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission( ZEC) to desist from subverting the will of the people.

ZEC boss Priscilla Chigumba is accused of rigging elections in favour of Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF party.

Chigumba herself has conceded that ZEC is wholly controlled by the military.

The Citizens’ Coalition For Change has vowed to stretch ZEC to the limit in the relentless fight for reforms…

See statement below:

It’s now imperative for Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) to demand comprehensive political and electoral reforms from ZEC: CCC Namibia echoes!

16 February 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia has the conviction that civil society, yellow democrats and human rights defenders must now pent up their political wrath charging towards Zec to deliver on the much anticipated comprehensive political and electoral reforms ahead of the historic poll in 2023. As an organic and visionary external assembly in the Yellow Revolution led by President Advocate Nelson Chamisa, we subscribe to the notion that change seekers in Zimbabwe and abroad should now challenge the Zanupf-controlled Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) to implement reforms and cease to operate on a partisan basis.

Namibia district remembers that in 2018, the compromised Chairperson of ZEC Priscilla Chigumba confessed before parliament that at least 15% of their staff were former military officials.

This is incontrovertible evidence to state capture and weaponisation of ZEC to defend the unpopular Harare regime.

The deployment of former military personnel is a testament to their insatiable appetite to remote control the institution so that they could manipulate the will of the voters through unquestioned rigging. For free, fair and credible elections to be conducted, social democrats should advocate for the removal of all state functionaries in the purported independent body.

Moreover, in the past the military used to lurk in the shadows of politics but surprisingly, in the post-coup era the Zimbabwe Defence Forces are now openly involved in all aspects of politics with its former Army General Chiwenga Constantino appointed vice president after the coup. One automatic reason is that the army’s financial interests are directly centred on Zanupf’s political survival hence rigging will be inevitable. It is an open secret that the army had joined the Zanupf thieving racket as they are using their military prowess for the primitive accumulation of wealth, concealed and untaxed- interests in mining ,health, telecommunications and the media.

Furthermore, Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia maintains that independent media plays a pivotal and fundamental role in elections ,but Zimbabwe suffers from a Hitlerist censorship of press where state media displays pure bias in favour of the ruining party. We demand the independence of the media. Namibia district advocates for unbiased publicity especially during campaigns until results are out to the public domain. Zanupf should allow state media to cover all citizens in the so-called new dispensation.

Moreso, most judges are perceived as sympathetic to the satanic Zanupf ruining party’s interests because of its patronage network. We are quite aware of the fact that Malaba did not retire because he has another dirty task to defend Zanupf after stealing the voice of the people in 2023. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia demands the independence of the courts. The judiciary should not take instructions from the Shake Shake Building. Same applies to the captured police and other state security agents. Law must not be weaponised or applied selectively. We advocate for equality before the law.

As the Yellow revolutionaries in Namibia, we absolutely challenge the deliberate change of polling stations between 2018 and 2022. It was unearthed that Zec has illegally transferred over 170 000 voters from their original constituencies and wards on the voter’s roll to be used for the March by-elections, a satanic endeavour to rig in favour of Zanupf as usual. This must be resisted with equal measure through massive peaceful protests as enshrined in the 2013 constitution. It’s high we demand transparency and accountability at Zec.

In a nutshell, we have seen high levels of human butchery, torture and forced disappearances of social democrats in Zimbabwe during and after elections. Our message to change seekers in the motherland is that revolutionary intellectuals should defend themselves against Zanupf Satanists and thugocrats. It is now time to show them they don’t have monopoly over violence. Let’s fight back if we are attacked by Zanupf militia. We are all bonafide citizens in Zimbabwe, we are equal before the law.

Air Pollution And Your Health

Credit: World Health Organization

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Why does WHO consider air pollution a major public health emergency? If you live in areas with high levels of air pollution, does COVID-19 impact you differently? Hello and welcome to Science in 5, I’m Vismita Gupta-Smith. We are talking to Dr. Maria Neira today.

Welcome, Maria. Maria, let’s start with why does WHO consider air pollution a major public health emergency?

Dr Maria Neira

Hello, everyone. Well, when you have more than 7 million premature deaths every year, every single year associated with exposure to air pollution, I’m sure that everybody agrees that this is a major public health issue. Actually, nine out of every 10 people around the world, particularly those living in cities, are breathing air that is not consistent with what WHO considers the good standards according to our air quality guidelines for breathing and still be healthy. And, you know, for many years, we thought and most of the diseases linked to exposure to air pollution were considered only to be affecting our respiratory system. And this is still true. Very much. Exposure to air pollution is responsible for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, lung cancer, pneumonia, name it. But in addition to that, we know now that these toxic particles will come to our lungs and from there to the bloodstream will reach our cardiovascular system and then be responsible for ischemic heart diseases, for neurological disorders, for stroke, for neurological problems as well in general and reproductive system issues. So, as you can imagine, all of those reasons tell us consider that air pollution is one of the biggest public health issues we are confronting today.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Maria, if a person is living in a highly polluted environment where whether air pollution levels are very high. Does COVID-19 impact them differently?

Dr Maria Neira

Yes, we have now more and more scientific evidence. One reason is that exposure, long term exposure to air pollution will affect your immune system and therefore will make you more susceptible to any type of respiratory diseases. And obviously, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease. In addition to that, we know that exposure to air pollution will increase the risk for chronic diseases like cardiopulmonary, like metabolic diseases, diabetes. And we all know now that those diseases are the so-called co-morbidities that will increase the risk for more severity and even later outcome if you are a patient with COVID-19. So, yes.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Maria, when we think about air pollution, it seems like the scale is so big and what can we do to reduce it? Share with us some examples of initiatives that governments and organizations took, which actually reduced air pollution.

Dr Maria Neira

Well, clearly the best way to reduce air pollution will be stop burning fossil fuels. I mean, that combustion of the fossil fuels is contributing not only to climate change, but to generate this high level of pollutants that then end up in our lungs. So changing that policy around which source of energy we are using will be one of the most effective. Legislation, go for enforcing the air quality guidelines of WHO. But if we go to concrete measures, of course at the city level, you have measures now going for change in the transport, the public transport system they have, promoting more sustainable ways of public transport, reducing the use of private cars, going for more efficient energy use of our buildings, making sure that they reduce the traffic congestion in certain areas. And we can see that all of those measures are immediate. They have immediate positive outcomes. Obviously, as an individual, the best you can do is to put pressure on your politicians, on your mayors. Make sure that there are systems to monitor the air quality that you are breathing every day in your city. And by doing so, ensuring that measures are taken at the political level. If the situation on air pollution is really bad, if we take measures, there is optimism. You can see that in European countries, for instance, or North America, the situation improved very much in the last 20 years. We are still far in other parts of the world and we still need to put in place measures on sustainable transport, a clean and modern use of energy sources and all our way of consuming, recycling. And therefore we will be able to tackle this huge problem of air pollution. Tackling the causes of climate change will bring enormous benefits as well on reducing the causes of air pollution and therefore contributing enormously to our health.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Thank you, Maria, for explaining this link, this interconnectedness between our health and that of the planet. Thank you very much. That was Science in 5 today. Until next time then. Stay healthy, stay safe and stick with science…

Health Workers Defend Teachers

The National Health and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe (NHAWUZ) has expressed support for teachers who have not been reporting for duty since schools reopened last Monday citing incapacitation.

The Government responded by effecting a blanket three-month suspension without pay on all the absentee teachers.

In a statement on Tuesday, NHAWUZ criticised the unilateral action by the Government, arguing that it has no place “in a well-developed democracy”. NHAWUZ said:

We support Social dialogue and collective bargaining through trade unionism and we want to see constructive relationships between the government of Zimbabwe and teachers.

This kind of relationship has proved its high value in many countries, both in times of economic growth and during a crisis.

In spite of attempts to demonize Zimbabwe’s public sector (through the Public Service debate, for instance), the problem of the irresponsibility of the banking sector, the unfairness of those paying for the reckless, corrupt and greediness of a few political elites is very much difficult to align with neoliberal conventions.

This logic of injustice and unfairness has to reawaken politics and galvanize actions that governments dismiss at their own peril.

On Wednesday, the Zimbabwe Public Service Commission (PSC) gave all teachers, deputy heads and heads of schools until Tuesday 22 February 2022 to report for duty.

The PSC said that teachers who have either not reported for duty or are reporting for duty but not teaching will be deemed to have resigned if they ignore the 22nd of February deadline.- Pindula News

Pastor Dupes Girlfriend Of R23K

They were assaulted with iron bars for wearing yellow regalia.
In a statement, Hon Biti’s aide, Emmanuel Zellers Gumbo said:

We’re currently at Mabvuku Police station.”

Another Mugabe Minister Freed

By-The State Wednesday withdrew one of the counts former minister, Petronella Kagonye, is facing on the basis that it doesn’t have sufficient evidence.

Kagonye, who was facing two counts of fraud and a separate theft charge, appeared before Harare magistrate Vongai Guwunro.

The State, represented by Zivanai Macharaga, told the court they have decided to withdraw the second fraud charge, because they don’t have enough evidence to prove its case.
Kagonye is accused of duping Shingitito, Housing Cooperative, represented by Joyce Chirgodza, after she allegedly approached its members, and informed them she owned a piece of land at Solome Farm.
The land belonged to ZB Bank.
Kagonye allegedly went to receive US$38 500 from the cooperative knowing well that she didn’t own the land.
She is also facing a theft charge, in which it is alleged she wrote a letter to the Ministry of ICT Postal and Courier Services, requesting computers to donate to schools in Goromonzi South.
Potraz donated 20 computers to Goromonzi South, which were collected by her brother Evan Kagonye, on her behalf.
However, the computers are yet to be accounted for and no school in Goromonzi confirmed receiving the computers valued at US$8 000.

ZNA Speaks On Mutoko Army Robbery

By- The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has distanced itself from reports circulating on social media of a robbery in Mutoko involving their officials.

ZNA said such a report was fake, adding that there was no such robbery.

Below is a statement by ZNA dismissing the report:

MEDIA RESPONSE ON FAKE NEWS ITEM ON ALLEGED ARMED ROBBERY IN MUTOKO

In response to a social media and WhatsApp fake message that has been circulating since early this morning, the Zimbabwe National Army would like to set the record straight that no such robbery occurred in Mutoko yesterday on 16 February 2022. The Security Forces have carried out thorough investigations in and around Mutoko and no such incident took place. The alleged victims are also non-existent. The fake report also says four people were arrested but without mentioning their names. The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Mutoko has also refuted that they arrested anyone related to an armed robbery case in the area.

The Army would like to point out that this message is malicious and must be dismissed with the contempt it deserves. The Security Forces are very much concerned about the spread of fake news posts especially when there are regional and international conferences taking place. It is now well established that such fake news posts are meant to cause alarm and despondence.

Investigations have now been instituted to apprehend the originators of these fake news posts and the perpetrators will be brought to book.

Mujuru Dragged To Court Over Estate

By-Former Vice President Joyce Mujuru has been sued by her stepdaughter for allegedly forging estate documents.

Nyasha Noreen Nyorovai Dei Campo nee said Mujuru forged the documents in a bid to claim unilateral ownership of one of her late husband Solomon Mujuru’s companies.

Mujuru is being accused of unilaterally altering the company documents for Dahaw Trading (Private) Limited which has a controlling stake in the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed company, Willdale Limited with a 39.55% stake.

Willdale Limited is one of Zimbabwe’s leading brick production companies.

Mujuru’s stepdaughter approached the High Court seeking an order to stop the disbursement of the company’s 2020/2021 financial year’s dividend to Mujuru.

The former VP is being sued along with her daughters, Kumbirai, Chipo and Kuzivakwashe.

Accounting firm, Vali Chartered Company Secretaries is listed as the fifth respondent while the Registrar of Companies and Willdale Limited are cited as sixth and seventh respondents respectively. Submitted Dei Campo:

Sometime in 2004 I was appointed as director of Dahaw (Pvt) Ltd by my late father, Solomon Tapfumaneyi Ruzambu Mujuru who was the only shareholder in the company.

On September 11, 2005 my late father transferred 20 000 shares in the company to me…during that time my late father also transferred various shareholding to me and my three siblings in various companies among them Rylance Farms Pvt Ltd, Kalmic Investments (Pvt) Ltd and Athienitis Properties (Pvt), Ltd and many others. The third respondent was given the majority shareholding in most companies as she was the apple of our father’s eye.

To put the court into perspective, the first respondent was never appointed shareholder nor director in any of my late father’s companies.

Dei Campo wants an order:

  1. prohibiting Willdale Limited from disbursing the dividend due to Dahaw Trading directly to Mujuru until the finalisation of the shareholding wrangle within the company.
  2. declaring that the unilateral alteration of the shareholding structure of Dahaw Trading by Vali Chartered Company Secretaries is null and void.
  3. declaring that the appointment of Mujuru and her daughters as directors and shareholders in Dahaw is null and void.
  4. directing the Registrar of Companies to cancel the CR6 and CR11 filed with Vali Chartered Company Secretaries.
  5. ordering that the dividend paid to Dahaw by Willdale Limited be deposited to any account nominated by herself.

Meanwhile, last Friday High Court judge, Justice Happias Zhou ordered the respondents to file opposing affidavits in 10 days of which the matter will be set down for hearing without further notice.

Mugabe Minister Escapes Jail

By- The State has withdrawn charges against former Finance Minister Simba Makoni, who was facing allegations of violating the Exchange Control Act.

Charges against Makoni came after the police arrested him accusing him of trading products at his Power Speed Electrical shop in Harare using an exchange rate above the official rate.

Prosecutor Ms Shiela Mupindu said they would proceed by way of summons once investigations are complete.
Harare Magistrate Mr Tinei Manuwere withdrew the charges against Makoni as per the State’s request.
Makoni was jointly charged with his company.
The Exchange Control Act prohibits selling, displaying and offering goods or services for sale at an exchange rate above the ruling exchange rate in Zimbabwe.

It is said that on October 6 2021 the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe received information that some companies that are procuring foreign currency at the forex auction are selling their products above the official exchange rate.
The State had it that the Reserve Bank Exchange Control Department deployed its officers to confirm the allegations by approaching a number of retail outlets.
On the following day, John Mashal Chinembiri and Tanaka Lincoln Sanyamahwe from Reserve Bank Financial Intelligence Unit Department visited Makoni’s shop where Chinembiri bought 750ml of Benzine for $423,65 while Sanyamahwe purchased the same product for US$2,42.
It is the State’s case that the two were issued with point of sale receipts reflecting a rate of $175 per USS1 which was above the official exchange rate of $88,55 that was prevailing on October 5, 2021.

How Does Air Pollution Affect Your Cardiovascular System ?

Do Not Subvert Will Of The People, Chigumba ZEC Warned

Slogan Chanting Chitungwiza Juveniles Acquitted

Chitungwiza Magistrate Gladys Moyo has set free some juveniles and residents who had been on trial after they were arrested last year for allegedly encouraging people to register to vote and chanting opposition party slogans during a procession.

The seven Chitungwiza residents namely Gibson Chizunza aged 18 years, Tinashe Gutsa aged 22 years, Never Chigada aged 32 years, Josephine Mundiya aged 34 years, Catherine Changaya aged 38 years, Tanatswa Kapfidza aged 16 years and Michael Munjanja aged 17 years, were arrested on 16 October 2021 and charged with participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry as defined in Section 37(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

During trial, prosecutors accused the seven juveniles and residents, who were represented by Tapiwa Muchineripi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights of conducting a procession along Hadzinanhanga road in Unit D high-density suburb in Seke heading towards Unit J high-density
suburb in Seke while wearing white t-shirts inscribed “Register to vote for change” in front and “Ngaapinde hake mukomana” at the back and chanting an opposition party slogan “Chinja Maitiro Chinja.”

But on Thursday 17 February 2022, Magistrate Moyo discharged the seven Chitungwiza residents at the close of the prosecution case after ruling that prosecutors failed to lead any credible evidence during trial to satisfy the essential elements of the alleged offence.

Magistrate Moyo also ruled that no eye witnesses who saw the accused persons allegedly committing the offence and neither was there any evidence led from people whose peace was reportedly disturbed or whose free movement was allegedly hindered during the residents’ procession.

ZBC On Collision Course With Jacob Mafume

By A Correspondent| State broadcaster ZBC has angered opposition CCC member and Harare councilor Jacob Mafume after they published a story claiming that the suspended Harare Mayor is on the run after creating chaos at Town House.

“Information gathered by ZBC News reveals that after causing chaos at Town House, the suspended mayor is now reportedly on the run” reads the ZBC news article.

Soldiers, Police Beat Up Zanu Pf Supporters At Epworth Rally

By A Correspondent- Some ZANU PF supporters who wanted to leave President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rally last Saturday were reportedly assaulted and forced back by soldiers and police officers.

According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, the disgruntled ZANU PF supporters wanted to leave Epworth High School grounds, the venue of the rally before Mnangagwa had spoken.

The Forum also claimed that ruling party supporters forced informal traders in Mbare to close their market stalls and bussed them to attend Mnangagwa’s rally in Epworth.

The people wanted to leave after an announcement that no title deeds would be given out at the rally. The Forum said:

On 12 February, ZANU PF supporters forced informal traders in Mbare to close their market stalls and attend a rally addressed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Epworth.

Buses were deployed to ferry people to Epworth, with ZANU PF youth ordering some members, most of whom got the stalls through the ZANU PF patronage system, to abandon business and attend the rally.

At the same time, some ZANU PF youths were also forcing informal dealers at Gazaland, Highfields to abandon their workstations and attend the President’s rally.

Assaults Disgruntled ZANU PF party members who attempted to leave the Epworth venue before President Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed the rally were beaten up and forced back by armed soldiers and police.

The members wanted to leave after an announcement that no title deeds would be given out at the rally.

The Forum accused the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T of political intolerance after the party’s supporters allegedly defaced campaign posters of Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) parliamentary and local government candidates in Highfields on Saturday.

The MDC-T was holding a rally at Zororo Grounds to launch its campaign for the by-elections scheduled to take place on 26 March this year. Said The Forum

“Zimbos Lose Confidence In ZEC”: Report

By A Correspondent- A report by the Citizen in Action Southern Africa (CIASA) has shown that Zimbabweans are increasingly losing confidence in the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) over its management of electoral processes.

The report titled Capturing the Judiciary: Reality or Phantom, which was released last Friday, said ZEC has been selectively applying its powers, which has resulted in the public doubting its capacity to produce indisputable polls.

In the report, CIASA analyses the recent ruling by the High Court, which reversed a ruling on the cancellation of constituency vacancies made by the same court and saw ZEC setting a new date for nominations for six vacant seats in Harare East, Mbizo, Kambuzuma, Nkulumane, Pumula and Mutasa South.

The seats fell vacant after the recall of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members Harare East, Mbizo, Kambuzuma, Nkulumane, Pumula and Mutasa South. by the said party. CIASA said in the report:

The case on Zec’s independence is largely built on the basis that they require the Justice minister (Ziyambi Ziyambi) to approve or facilitate their law-making function, without which they cannot directly interface with the Parliament of Zimbabwe for law-making purposes.

In a statement announcing the cancellation of nomination courts seating for the six PDP constituencies, Zec chief elections officer Utloile Silaigwana, stated that: ‘The proclamation calling for by-elections issued by the President in terms of Statutory Instrument 1 of 2022 on January 6, 2022 is accordingly amended.

This by all means confirms the long-held suspicion that Zec’s insistence on limited law-making functions is, therefore, selectively applied. This is concretised by the fact that a day later, after another court ruling, Zec turned around and said it needed to check the legal feasibility of reopening nomination court which they did nevertheless.

The report echoes sentiments by opposition political players and some members of the general public who believe ZEC connived with the ruling ZANU PF and manipulated the presidential election results in 2018.-newsday

Mnangagwa Embarrassed For Lying

By- ZIMFACT has exposed false claims that were made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa while addressing Zanu PF supporters at the launch of the party’s 26 March by-elections campaign in Epworth, Harare, last Saturday.

Mnangagwa claimed that half of Harare City Council councillors face corruption charges. He said:

Harare City Council, over half of them, are facing charges in court over corruption. So when we vote, we have a chance to replace them.

According to ZIMFACT, the claim is false. Harare has 46 wards, each represented by a councillor.

While several councillors have been arrested, including former Harare mayor, Herbert Gomba, and his replacement, Jacob Mafume, on corruption allegations, the number of all reported arrests does not support Mnangagwa’s claim that half of Harare’s councillors face corruption charges.

Mnangagwa also claimed that the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange has listed new companies each month since its launch.

ZIMFACT again, says the claim is false. VFEX has listed only four companies since its launch in December 2021. Mnangagwa had said:

Since we launched VFEX, every month, or every other month, two or three international companies are registered with VFEX.

So foreign currency is now coming in from outside because this stock exchange at international level.

Seed Co International, Padenga Holdings, Caledonia Mining Corporation and Bindura Nickel Corporation are the only firms that are listed on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange.

WATCH LIVE: VP Chiwenga’s Nephew Violently Seizes UN Diplomat’s House

This is my story:

My name is Jane Karonga and this is my story on how my residential home has been violently seized by a VP Chiwenga relative, while I am out of the country.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW…

https://youtu.be/YLSnLIMq-cg

Last year in June, I had agreed with my Sister, Elizabeth Rose Goremusandu to stay for 2 months at my house which is in Norton as she waits for her house in Darwendale to be completed.

When 2 months had passed, I asked her to leave my property. She refused, I asked our Uncle to intervene, she cursed him out.

In December, she started living in Darwendale, where she is building her house. After the New year, I asked my Aunt, my late Mom’s Sister and my Cousin brother to come over to try and intervene. Elizabeth refused to have the meeting. Thereafter, we removed my sister’s things and took them to Darwendale where she is building her house.

Before my Sister moved to Darwendale, I was referred to this Martin Chiwenga with the understanding that he can intervene and help with mediation. So when I briefed Martin on the issue, he offered to go and talk to my Sister. However, instead of Martin acting as a mediator, he connived with my Sister to stay at the house and plan on running me out of my own home.

I saw through their plan and after Elizabeth Goremusandu left. I evicted Martin Chiwenga via a court order.

Today, Gracious, my cousin sister was coming from Mutare, and she passed through the house to see if everything was ok. When she arrived there, she saw this other man who said his real name was Martin Chiwenga and he was not going to leave the house until he see me Jane Karonga.

I told Gracious to go and report to the police. Gracious and husband went to the police but they did not get any help from them.

Upon their return, the so called real Martin Chiwenga and 5 other men pounced on them at my gate. They brutally assaulted them at my own house like this. This happened on Saturday. See the pictures below…

Mapostori Beat Each Other Up During Prayer

VIOLENCE erupted at the Mugodhi Apostolic Shrine headquarters in Wedza at the weekend as factions clashed over control of the church.

Mugodhi meeting

About 20 police officers from Wedza had to be called in to quell the violence pitting the Washington Mugodhi followers against those following Aaron Munodawafa, with both parties claiming ownership of the church.

The following day, about 600 members of the faction then returned to the shrine and forced their way in, resulting in the confrontation.

Both parties filed police reports against each other. -Newsday

Teachers Slap Govt With Sit-In As High Court Rules Against State

As the govt lost a High Court case yesterday, pupils at public schools across Bulawayo are idle as some teachers are going to class but not teaching in defiance of a Government directive for them to resume duty.

Since schools opened last week on Monday, some teachers and headmasters have not been reporting for duty, citing incapacitation.

Treasury subsequently announced a 20 percent salary increase for all civil servants plus an additional US$100 cash allowance, as well as school fees allowance for teachers among other non-monetary benefits.

Government has since suspended for three months without pay all those who have been absconding.

A visit to some schools around Bulawayo’s eastern and western suburbs yesterday revealed some pupils, both at primary and secondary schools, were playing on the sports fields during learning hours.

Others were seen making a beeline home, and they said teachers were either absent or some of those who were present were not teaching.

At Baines Primary School in North End; Lobengula Primary School in Mzilikazi; Mthombowesizwe Primary School in Entumbane; Intunta Primary School and Ihlathi High School in Tshabalala as well as Masotsha High School in Magwegwe North among others, children were playing outside class.

Some pupils who were interviewed by Chronicle said they had dismissed early because teachers were not teaching.

“There are no lessons at the school.

The teachers are there but they are just sitting in class and not teaching. So, I have decided to go home,” said a pupil at Lobengula Primary School in Mzilikazi.

A pupil at Mthombowesizwe Primary School in Entumbane suburb said they were told to go home after break time.

“We learnt one subject. We then went for break time and then after that, the teacher asked us to pray and we were dismissed for the day,” said the pupil.

Because of the teachers absconding lessons, this has forced some parents with pupils who are in exam classes to resort to private lessons.

The news crew met a group of Form Two pupils at Ihlathi High School in Tshabalala who said they had dismissed themselves because teachers were not at school.

“When schools opened, we had no lessons because teachers hadn’t been there.

Up to today we haven’t had any lessons and we are on our way to do extra lessons, so that we can catch up,” said one of the pupils.

One parent from Sizinda suburb said some teachers at Intunta were on a go slow.

“The teachers have been coming, but the teaching from what my child is saying is not at the right level.

This has been the case since the opening of schools.

They are learning but as parents we aren’t happy that it’s not like last year,” said the parent.

In an interview yesterday, Dr Edson Badarai Head of Strategic Planning and Programme Management in the Public Service Commission (PSC) said the suspension of teachers stands.

“In terms of those who would have been suspended they will go through a disciplinary process; they are a different group.

There will be an investigation and they will go through. So, we are saying their suspension still stands.

Those who are not suspended and are continuing not to come to work, their last date to continue like that, is February 22. If they get to that date, we deem them to have resigned,” said Dr Badarai.

“What it means is that there is a grace period. Those reporting for duty but not teaching, will also be deemed to have resigned.

All those who have resigned and are occupying institutional accommodation are expected to vacate.”

In a statement earlier in the day, the PSC said teachers, headmasters and deputy heads who are not attending school, or attending but not teaching will be deemed to have resigned on February 22.

“All teachers, deputy heads and heads of schools who do not report for duty by Tuesday 22 February 2022 will be deemed to have resigned from the service.

Those reporting for duty but not teaching will also be deemed to have resigned.

All those who will have in that manner so resigned and are occupying institutional accommodation are expected to vacate the same with immediate effect,” said the PSC.

After the deadline, the PSC encouraged student teachers and university students to apply for teaching posts, to replace those who have resigned from their posts.

“Unemployed trained teachers, university and college graduates in the sciences, engineering, technical, vocational areas and other disciplines who are interested in joining the teaching profession should ensure that they are registered at the nearest district education offices as the recruitment process shall begin soon after the 22nd of February 2022,” read the statement.

Government, the PSC said, will work with those who show commitment in performing their duties.

“Those deemed to have resigned shall not be eligible for this recruitment.

Government has taken the position that it will now work with those who demonstrate their commitment by performing their duties at all times to serve the nation.

In terms of Section 75 sub-section 4 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, concerning the right to education, the Government of Zimbabwe has already taken reasonable legislative and other measures, within the limits of the resources available to it, to achieve the progressive realisation of the right to education,” it said.

The statement said, Government is committed to improving the welfare of its workers and is concerned that teachers are absent from work, depriving children of their constitutional right.

Government, the statement said, will not tolerate behaviour that negatively impacts on an entire generation.

“This behaviour on the part of some teachers is all the more distressing in view of the fact that it is coming at a time when learners have already lost more than a month of learning in 2022 alone due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and were therefore looking forward to the opportunity to catch up with their studies.

Such behaviour cannot be tolerated as it will have a lasting, negative impact on an entire generation,” said the statement. –Additional Reporting Chronicle

Health Workers Back Teachers

Latest On Khupe, Welsh Ncube Meeting

By A Correspondent| Opposition Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) President Nelson Chamisa says he is yet to be briefed on the meeting between his vice President Professor Welshman Ncube and former MDC-T vice President Thokozani Khupe yesterday.

This comes amid reports that Khupe is warming up to re-uniting with Chamisa in a move believed to be the brains of exiled former Zanu PF politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo.

Responding to one @Chambii on Twitter who asked for an explanation on the image where Khupe, Ncube and former MDC-T Organising Secretary were together, Chamisa said he had not been briefed yet.

“Can this image be explained? New rules are supposed to be citizens driven and it means giving them the power of who represents the party and who seats at the top. Ordinary supporters have to be members of wards, Districts and Provinces but after good vetting,” asked Chambii.

“I’m yet to be briefed!,” responded Chamisa.

Khupe is believed to be warming up to re-uniting with Chamisa in a move that has drawn widespread criticism from CCC supporters who feel she is responsible for the mess the party finds itself in after walking away when Morgan Tsvangirai passed away in 2018.

About Air Pollution And Immune System

Mbappe Guides PSG To Crucial Win Over Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé scored a stunning individual goal in stoppage time to give Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 home victory over Real Madrid and spare Lionel Messi’s blushes after he had missed a penalty in their Champions League last-16, first leg on Tuesday.

It took PSG 94 minutes to find the winner with a brilliant run by Mbappé, who danced in between two defenders and calmly slid the ball into the far corner to earn PSG a deserved victory after they had dominated the encounter.

PSG missed several chances and were thwarted by Real keeper Thibaut Courtois, who denied Mbappé on several occasions before superbly pushing away Messi’s spot kick in the second half.

“It was a great game for us and I’m always ready to help my team, there are no distractions,” Mbappé told reporters.

“We have to be humble and the second leg is still open. It will be a hard game but we will have the advantage and are very confident.”

Madrid struggled to find any rhythm
Real Madrid finished the game with zero shots on target while PSG had eight, with almost 60% of possession.

Madrid will be without Casemiro and Ferland Mendy for the second leg at home on 9 March. The pair were both shown yellow cards and will be suspended for collecting three yellows in the competition.

“Our counter-attack didn’t work today,” Courtois told reporters. “It’s hard to lose but the second leg is wide open. We have to win and we will try to do it in front of our fans, what is a great advantage.”

Courtois repeatedly frustrated Messi and Mbappé. His best save came early in the second half when Messi stepped up for the penalty after Mbappé had been fouled inside the area by Dani Carvajal. The Belgian stretched low to his left to stop the Argentinian’s shot with his hand.

But 30 minutes later Mbappé found the winner and Courtois could only watch as the ball went through his legs and into the corner of the net.- en.as.com

Soldiers, Police Bash Zanu PF Supporters

By- Soldiers and police officers on Sartuday reportedly beat up Zanu PF supporters who wanted to leave President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rally in Epworth.

According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, the disgruntled Zanu PF supporters wanted to leave Epworth High School grounds, the venue of the rally, before Mnangagwa had spoken.

Political intolerance On 12 February, the MDC Alliance had a rally at Zororo Centre which was addressed by its leader, Douglas Mwonzora.
Before the rally, MDC-A supporters went around the rally venue, defacing campaign posters of CCC parliamentary and local government candidates.

Mnangagwa Epworth Lies Exposed

Mnangagwa Reopens Borders

By Cabinet has resolved to reopen all the country’s borders after announcing that Zimbabwe had managed to successfully contain the fourth Covid-19 wave that was fuelled by the Omicron variant.

Following the first Cabinet briefing for 2022 held yesterday in Harare, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa said when Cabinet adjourned on December 14, the country was in the midst of the fourth wave with an average of 4 014 cases per day. Currently, new cases average less than 1 000.
As of Monday, the country’s cumulative Covid-19 cases stood at 231 337, with 223 603 recoveries and 5 374 deaths. The recovery rate was 96 percent, with 2 892 active cases having been recorded.

The Minister said the number of new Covid-19 cases decreased to 929 during the week under review, compared to 992 recorded the previous week.
“In view of the continued decline in new cases and deaths coupled with a declining testing positivity rate that is indicating that the community transmission has gone down, all ports of entry be: reopened but ensuring that all the recommended Covid-19 prevention measures are adhered to, and all persons entering Zimbabwe must have undergone a valid Covid-19 PCR test not more than 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe, and fully vaccinated.
Those who have received a booster vaccine shot have an entry advantage,” she said.

Makorokoza Clash At Bulawayo Mine, Several Arrested

By-A mine dispute at Carrymine in Bulawayo’s Douglasdale suburb has escalated into a violent conflict after illegal miners allegedly invaded the mine beat up workers before trying to make away with gold ore.

The illegal miners were said to have been sent by a Mrs Pennia Macheka who wants to take over a section of the mine which is owned by Mr Bekezela Moyo.
The incident happened last week Thursday.
Bulawayo police provincial spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube revealed that two people have been arrested.

“There was a dispute at the mine, some arrests were made.
They wanted to steal ore, but they failed to steal because police reacted swiftly and two people were arrested,” said Inspector Ncube.
According to a statement by Carrymine, problems started a month ago when Mrs Macheka and a crew invaded the mine.
“A month ago, we had a lady named Pennia Macheka invade one of our claims by chasing away our workers who were working in the particular claim called Rocks.

I approached the workers who had camped there and told them they were acting outside the law as the mining claim belonged to us.
They directed me to their sponsor who they told me was Mrs Macheka.
I called her immediately and requested a meeting and she complied.
“In the meeting she told me she had pegged the area then changed and asked me to work in the area which I refused and kindly asked her to vacate.
Weeks later she was still there and had fenced the area and put more workers on the claim.
I tried calling her for another meeting several times and she ignored my calls,” the statement from Mr Moto reads.

Last week, men were allegedly found loading gold ore into a truck and they turned violent when confronted. T
he marauding group of about 50 people, reportedly brandished machetes, knives and axes, chased away the mine workers.
Police managed to arrest two people, one of which was Mrs Macheka.
Mr Moyo was asked by police to produce proof of ownership of the claim and he did.
Macheka failed to produce anything to prove ownership of Rocks.
Efforts to get a comment from Mrs Macheka were fruitless as her mobile phone was unreachable and questions sent to her WhatsAp were not answered.

The operation was launched at Morris Depot in Harare yesterday.
The campaign was attended by senior police officers and officials from the Lotteries and Gaming Board, Bookmakers Association and the Casino Association.
Malvin Ndlovu, an official from the Casino Association, expressed concern over a rise in money-laundering and illegal gambling crimes, as well as the prevalence of drugs at illegal gambling hubs.

“Do Not Back Down”: Teachers Told

By T One- The fall of a dictatorship is reflected in threats and forced disappearances:

If you want to kill a nation, destroy the education system. True democracy is born out of an educated populace.

“A functioning, robust democracy requires a healthy, educated, participatory followership, and educated, morally grounded leadership” (Chinua Achebe). This has become a myth in Zimbabwe.

Teachers who are beacons of education are being tortured for asking for a living wage. The current government of Zimbabwe has become obsessed with threats to silence the hardworking teachers for asking for what rightfully belongs to them.

Teachers have been turned to beggars and destitutes. They are denied the opportunity to send their children to the boarding schools they teach, worse still medical care. This is worsened by an insensitive cabinet that is loaded with deadwood and praise singers who are always singing for their supper.

More, a public service commission which is toothless and an appendage of the oppressive regime. Following, two secretaries of propaganda who perceive all Zimbabweans to stupid foolish and act as if they are the only ones with a functional brain and they are the only two who went to university and read English.

So pathetic and naïve. It boggles the mind that you have public service office bearers who celebrate the suffering of fellow citizens and rejoice the destruction of a future generation. It is only in Zimbabwe where teachers have been reduced to nothing in Southern Africa, and stripped off their dignity.

On the 16th of February a litany of threats were listed and communicated to teachers through the public service commission which among them is eviction from state owned houses and firing from the service.

This reflects a government and a ministry of cruel and dangerous individuals who are only in office for personal gain not for the interest of the teachers and the children who are missing out on education.

You can force a donkey to the river but you cannot force it to drink. The evil doers can push teachers to the class but they will not force them to teach. The government is a bunch of ignorant individuals who have no morals and love for the citizens. What they know best is looting public resources and mortgaging the country to China.

These threats are a sign of victory for teachers who are representing all civil servants because previously the state propaganda machine was claiming all was well but this is now the damascene moment.

All swords have been drawn out. The dictatorship is panicking. Teachers are on the verge of victory, and a victory of all civil servants. The courts are kicking the empty threats away too. The struggle to eliminate apartheid brought by the looters and oppressors is seeing its last days.

Teachers in school accommodation should not be intimidated because it is part of the package of the job hence no one has the authority to evict you. And this is a divide and rule tactic to scare the teachers because they know rural teachers stay in school quarters compared to urban teachers who stay in their own houses or rented accommodation.

The apartheid regime in Zimbabwe must never dream of a victory because the system will remain collapsed because teachers are now fearless. They have donated their labour for too long, it is now time to determine their worthy.

This is the time to show a united front despite betrayal by Zimta and other unions that align with the apartheid regime. It is unfortunate that the evil regime has been assigning deadwood to lead the ministry.

They are brainless, old, selfish, cruel, uneducated and ignorant of the intricacies of the education sector. This is a reflection of an empty non committed leadership that places no value on the education of the working class children whose education is in public schools which they are busy destroying.

They care less because their children are scattered across private schools in the country and outside hence they do not care. More, the most reckless ministers and permanent secretaries are British citizens whose families do not even know the environment in Zimbabwe except reading in papers and watching on televisions.

They are only in Zimbabwe to loot United States dollars and sell minerals for personal gain. The most painful act is that of the one responsible for the finance ministry who sees accommodation in Zimbabwe not suitable for him and he stays in a five star hotel. This is a reflection of one who lacks a moral compass and whose agenda is comfort at the expense of the suffering teachers and citizens.

With such characters in our midst it is ideal for teachers to remain resolute until the battle is won. Social media is busy and the propagandists are already claiming victory as reflected in circulating whatssapp conversations for example a conversation between Waters and Time is right. These are conversations initiated to collapse the struggle and they have been initiated by the regime to confuse teachers.

Based on such teachers should counter such so that even those in the periphery are not cowed into submission. The main agenda of the regime is destroying the education system so that Zimbabwe become a dynasty.

They are aiming for their children to become the future oppressors of our children and grandchildren. This can only be stopped if all communities rally behind teachers for a better a better salary for it is through education that a child of a peasant can become a doctor or an engineer (Nelson Mandela).

Against this background, teachers must not back down neither should they succumb to the threats from the dictators. Teachers must never kiss certain frogs in this evil regime because teachers will forever remain relevant.

Whether they like it or not it is because of our dedicated teachers I am able to read and write and participate in global issues. This is a struggle for all citizens hence my call to support our teachers in whatever form necessary.

And to the teachers, despite all these media threats and confusing statements, it is not time to give up. In every struggle there are casualties. #

Forward ever. Tafadzwa please continue conscientising the teachers. Teachers need to breathe.

Teacher need to be capacitated.

Former Warriors Defender Murder New Details Emerge

By-A New details in the robbery and murder of former Caps United and Warriors left-back Charles Yohane over the weekend in South Africa have emerged.

Reports indicate that one of the suspects in the 48-year-old Zimbabwean’s murder was arrested in Soweto after he was found driving around in the deceased’s car.

Yohane went missing on Saturday only for his body to be found by his family and friends in South Africa on Tuesday with a gunshot wound in the head.

According to family members, the former Bidvest Wits player had gone to a match and encountered the carjackers in Soweto on his way home.

CCTV footage of Yohane’s kidnapping at a traffic light emerged where a gang of four men jumped into his BMW vehicle and forced him to drive off.

The gang had reportedly failed in an attempt to hijack another car before they attacked Yohane.

After the arrest of one of the suspects in Soweto on Monday while driving around in the car, the search for Yohane narrowed to the Soweto area and on Tuesday, with the help of the police, his body was positively identified.

One of his friends and former Warriors defender, Innocent Chikoya identified Yohane’s body this Wednesday.

The family has started the process to repatriate the remains, with former Zimbabwe footballers pooling resources to help in the repatriation via a local funeral services company.

Mourners are gathered at the family home in Mbare but family members are not yet sure when the body is expected to arrive.

Madzibaba, as Yohane was known then by his fans, was part of the dominant Steve Kwashi coached Caps United class of 1996 that won the first League Championship for the club since Independence.

Yohane also starred for the Warriors when he scored in their 3-0 win over Sudan in Khartoum in 1997 in the AFCON 1998 qualifiers.

The late defender was a regular Warriors player and was part of the 2004 squad that qualified for their first-ever AFCON Tournament hosted by Tunisia.

FIFA Bans Four Argentina Players

FIFA has banned four Argentina players from international football following the abandonment of September’s World Cup qualifier against Brazil in Sao Paulo.

The match was called off after Brazilian health officials indicated a breach of COVID-19 protocols.

Aston Villa duo of Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and Villarreal’s Giovani Lo Celso were accused of providing false information on their immigration forms and COVID-19 declarations when they entered Brazil.

FIFA immediately launched an investigation and a verdict has now been announced.

The governing body has banned Martinez, Buendia, Romero and Lo Celso for two games. The quartet was charged “for not complying with the FIFA Return to Football International Match Protocol”.

FIFA also ordered the match to be replayed at a location and date to be announced.

Both sides have two games remaining but have already qualified for the finals in Qatar later this year.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Air Pollution A Major Public Health Emergency
