Murewa RDC Boss Nabbed

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Murewa Rural District Council, Alois Gurajena (48) for Criminal Abuse of Duty after he unprocedurally subdivided a farm and allocated stands to home seekers.

Allegations against Gurajena are that in 2003, Train Farm was leased to Moses Sewera for agricultural purposes and has been utilized for that purpose since then.

When the lease expired the leasee, Sewera, was allowed to continue with his farming activities. It is alleged that recently, Gurajena subdivided the farm and allocated stands to home seekers.

In doing this, Gurajena flouted laid down procedures which state that when a farm is to be converted from farming activities to urban development, the Ministry of Lands formerly hands over the farm to Ministry of Local Government who in turn hand over the farm to the Local Authority for initiation of processes to convert it into urban development following laid down procedures.

According to the Ministry of local Government, the farm in question was not formally handed over to them by the Ministry of Lands and as such the Ministry of Local Government has not handed over the farm to Murewa RDC for urban development.

Gurajena is expected in court today, 11 November 2021.

ZUPCO Buses Outdated

By A Correspondent-MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has pointed out that ZUPCO buses are endangering passengers’ lives as they are outdated and inefficient.

Zimbabwe’s public transport system is underfunded, according to President Chamisa.

See his presentation below:

As the NEXT government, delivering safe, affordable, reliable, clean &SMART public &private transportation is something we are preparing for.Our policies aim to unlock investment into electric vehicles(including ZUPCO buses) &key infrastructure like charging stations &good roads.

In Zimbabwe our public transport remains underfunded, unsafe, and unreliable. ZUPCO and the government have failed to deliver a viable solution. There is no clear policy on how the electric vehicle industry will be supported by government in Zimbabwe.

In Africa, startup businesses like, MAX and SafeBoda (Nigeria), OX and Ampersand (Rwanda), Kiira Motors (Uganda) and Opibus (Kenya) have received a lot of investor support to develop their technology and reach commercial viability.

Zanu PF Has Stolen Nation’s Dreams, Hopes…

By Advocate Fadzayi Mahere

This government has stolen many things from us. Most fundamentally, they’ve robbed us of our ability to dream big dreams – personal dreams, couple dreams, professional dreams, community dreams and national dreams. They’ve forced us into a space where we are constantly consumed by ‘making a plan’ to negotiate tap water, queue for cash, struggle to get quality healthcare, hustle on the side to make ends meet, protest about uncollected garbage…the list goes on.

So all we do is survive.

Yet the human spirit requires so much more than basic survival to remain truly alive. The human spirit requires hope, optimism, inspiration, a sense of progress, self-actualization, upward mobility, stimulation and happiness. Survival is but a starting point from whence we can live our true purpose on earth. Our purpose is to become our best selves so that we can make a meaningful contrubution to society and help other people.

Dreams allow us to step out of the basic realm of possibility and to stretch ourselves to be greater than what we imagine to be possible. This is how nations succeed, how civilizations evolve, how innovation is born, how businesses are built, how star quality is developed, how scientific breakthroughs are achieved and how good lawyers become great.

They can rob us of everything, but we must not allow them to rob us of our ability to dream, to provide solutions to humanity’s problems and to grow the mindset that allows us to move from the garbage dump we are in to the world class existence that we crave. Let’s reclaim our psyche so that, starting from our mindset, we can become the Great Zimbabwe that we aspire to.

Rant over. I just meant to say I love my job and the prism through which it enables me to see and think about the world.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. #NgaapindeHakeMukomana

School Heads Attend Zanu PF Induction Programme

Several school heads in Mutasa district, Manicaland province were allegedly forced to attend an induction training facilitated by Zanu PF at the weekend, a development that has irked teachers who described it as “disturbingly unconstitutional”.

Teachers’ unions yesterday said the indoctrination sessions were taking place in different parts of the country.

Zanu PF information director Tafadzwa Mugwadi told NewsDay that there was nothing untoward about the “induction” meetings. He said Zanu PF drew its membership from all professions.

“There is nothing amiss with Zanu PF engaging the school heads, if ever there was such a meeting in Mutasa. In any case, the membership of the party cuts across headmasters, the nursing profession and other civil servants,” Mugwadi said.

It is alleged that the Mutasa Zanu PF induction training was held on Saturday and Sunday, and was facilitated by party provincial officials, members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), and army personnel.- NewsDay

Union Approves US$30 As Salary For Farm Workers

By A Correspondent- Farmworkers have rejected the wage increment approved by some unions in the agricultural sector that will see most of them getting $6 400 (US$30) per month.

The increment was agreed to by other unions, but the Progressive Agriculture and Allied Industries Workers Union of Zimbabwe (PAAWUZ) Wednesday rejected the offer, saying it was an insult to the sector.

The increment comes when the family monthly basket has risen to $40 000.

PAAWUZ interim general-secretary Philip Mafundu described the “paltry” increment as a mockery and imperial capitalism. He said:

We reject the paltry salary increment signed by other unions for the agricultural industry, the general agriculture and horticulture sectors.

Six thousand and four hundred dollars only for a family of someone doing essential service is pathetic. Agricultural workers never stopped working during this (COVID-19) pandemic. They have endured so much to ensure that the nation is fed. They are now mocking them. Agricultural workers should stand up, unite and fight for their rights.

Farmworkers also appealed to the government to bear in mind that farmworkers are not animals that are, in fact, being treated better than farmworkers. They added:

There will be no Christmas to celebrate for the farmworkers this year, with the food basket now well above $40 000. How is one supposed to survive on $6 400 monthly?

PAAWUZ accused other unions in the agricultural sector of misrepresenting the interests of the workers.

The union is pushing for a US$80 minimum wage for the least paid as per the June 2018 schedule.

Malema ‘Urinates’ On Former SA President’s Coffin

By A Correspondent- The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, President Julius Malema, has threatened to stage protests if the government recognises the death of former South Africa’s former President FW de Klerk .

De Klerk died Thursday after battling cancer.

He was the last white Apartheid President who negotiated a peaceful transfer of power to a Black-led government under Nelson Mandela.

Below is EFF’s statement.

EFF STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF APARTHEID PRESIDENT F.W DE KLERK

Thursday, 11 November 2021

The EFF notes the death of the Former Apartheid President F.W De Klerk, who presided over a murderous and inhumane regime of terror against African people. De Klerk, who denied that the legislated separate development, exploitation, torture and murder of black people was a crime against humanity, dies with no honour, and with the dark cloud of having maimed and traumatised families across our nation.

As a President of Apartheid, De Klerk holds no legitimate claim to any title or honour of having led this country. He was a President of an undemocratic and racist society, which elected him as a minority. He was a President who led on the basis of the political and economic disenfranchisement of the majority black population of South Africa.

It is for this very reason that the EFF calls for De Klerk not to be given a State Funeral of any category, as he lost the right to be honoured the day that the evil regime he led collapsed in 1994. It was the Apartheid era that was best placed to honour De Klerk as its loyal servant, not a democratic society that is committed to reversing the ills of the dark days of black exploitation.

To honour De Klerk with a State Funeral would be to spit in the face of gallant liberation heroes who suffered in his hands, and had their children murdered in his quest to stifle the freedom of black people. A State Funeral for F.W De Klerk would be an insult to the families of the Cradock Four, it would undermine the memory of the people of Boipatong, Mthatha, Bhisho, the people of Vosloorus and many communities who were maimed by his state-sponsored black on black violence.

The EFF will oppose through public protest and all means necessary, a State funeral for a man who died without ever accounting for the blood on his hands. It cannot be the democracy that he killed so many to prevent, that honours F.W De Klerk.

De Klerk died denying the humanity of the black people that Apartheid subjugated and murdered, and was on a desperate mission to cleanse a legacy of genocide. A democratic society must never partake in assisting him to build a false legacy, which will erase the dead bodies his life is marked by.

Zodwa Wabantu Speaks On Patron Assault Claims

By A Correspondent- South African socialite and dancer Zodwa Wabantu said she did not beat up a follower who touched her bum in a private club when she was having fun with her boyfriend.

Zodwa opened up to the Daily Sun and warned her followers from disturbing her when she is not on the stage.

She said that she was tired of people who thought they were entitled to spanking her bum and touching her when she was out enjoying herself.

“When I’m not working, I want to be treated normally. It’s a different story when I’m on stage, entertaining them. I understand that sometimes they get overwhelmed and act abnormally.
“But, I hate it when people think they are entitled to touching my body and ruin my happiness when I’m out with friends or my boyfriend. I don’t want b to test me. They must get off my space,” said Zodwa.
Recently, a woman claimed Zodwa had slapped her when she was dancing with her Ben 10 at the Recharge Braai Lounge in Midrand, Gauteng.
Responding to this, Zodwa said she did not slap the woman – she only asked her to respect her.
“I was dancing with my boyfriend and this woman kept on touching me. I asked her not to touch me. I even posted a video on Instagram, showing her spanking my bum while I was dancing with my boyfriend. I didn’t do anything. I continued dancing because I was tired of asking her not to do it. I think she is just a poverty low-thinker. If I’m in my space, don’t disturb or touch me. Rather respect and treat me as a normal person,” she said.

South Africa’s Apartheid President FW De Klerk Dies

By A Correspondent- South Africa’s apartheid President FW De Klerk has died.

DeKlerk died of cancer Thursday at the age of 85.

He is the one who negotiated a peaceful transfer of power to a Black-led government under Nelson Mandela.

His death has attracted divided opinion with some, on the one hand, having no nice words for him, while others are paying tribute to him for allowing a transition of power to the black government.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema said is one of FW De Klerk’s critics, to the grave. Speaking after the former president’s death, Malema said:
The apartheid sponsored media of South Africa, including the one that black young people supposedly own (405), is spreading fake news by referring to him as a former president; he is a former apartheid President; stop misleading the kids. Fake fake fake.

In the latest statement from his foundation, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu said:
Mr FW De Klerk could have gone down in history as a truly great South African statesman, but he eroded his stature and became a small man, lacking magnanimity and generosity of spirit.
In a video just released by his Foundation, FW de Klerk, in his final words said apartheid was wrong. He said:
Since the early 80s, my views changed completely… In my heart of hearts, I realised that apartheid was wrong.

Apartheid was the ideology supported by the National Party (NP) government and was introduced in South Africa in 1948. Apartheid called for the separate development of the different racial groups in South Africa.

Zanu PF Clashes With Mapostori

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF members in Bulawayo have clashed with some members of Vapostori over vending bays.

The clashes happened Tuesday fr in the CBD of the second capital, where local council officials were allocating vending malls to residents.

Southern eye reports that when they arrived at the scene, there was pushing and shoving as they jostled for marked vending bays, with municipal police struggling to contain the situation that was fast blowing out of hand.
Some Zanu PF members in party regalia claimed they deserved to occupy the vending bays while members of the apostolic sect claimed the space was reserved for them.

One of the vendors, who only identified himself as Tendai said the place was reserved for apostolic sect members. He said:
This place had been closed because of the lockdown and before that, it belonged to Vapostori.
That is why you see that there are a lot of Vapostori here.
We got here early in the morning and we were surprised that bays are now being forcibly taken by Zanu PF members. We will not allow this to happen.

Mayor Solomon Mguni condemned the clashes accusing “a section of Zanu PF youths” of taking the law into their own hands by barricading sections of 5th Avenue from Joshua Nkomo Street to Fife Street and allocating each other vending bays on a public road.
He added that Bulawayo City Council was working on a government policy to decongest the central business district and decentralise fresh produce markets to suburban areas.
Mguni said no political party had a right to allocate vending bays, insisting such a task was the responsibility of council.
Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial chairperson Obert Msindo said he was not aware of the clashes.

Bafana Bafana Coach Wary Of Warriors Potential

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he is fully aware of the threat posed by Zimbabwe in tonight’s World Cup qualifier and described the contest as a tricky one.

The two neighbours meet at the FNB Stadium in the penultimate game in the Road to Qatar, with South Africa on the verge of qualifying for the last stage of the qualifiers.

They need to win tonight and also triumph in the last game against second-placed Ghana in Cape Coast to be assured of winning Group G but Broos warned that focus should be on the clash against the Warriors, as it isn’t an easy one.

“Now we face two games that are very important. If we win twice we are in the next round. But it is simple to say it, it’s not so simple to do it. The most important thing now is to win against Zimbabwe,” said the Belgian.

Interim Warriors coach Norman Mapeza is using tonight’s game, as well as the one against Ethiopia, to prepare for the AFCON finals and Broos admitted the introduction of players who would want to prove themselves, might impact the game in Zimbabwe’s favour.

“Let’s focus on the Zimbabwe game. A tricky game. There are some players who are not there, so I think the coach [Norman Mapeza] chose to prepare for Afcon [2021 Africa Cup of Nations] in January,” he said.

“And you know what it means when you give players a chance to prove themselves. That means they will do it.

“We have to concentrate and be ready because we have to win it. One point ahead, two points ahead and the pressure stays on Ghana,” added the coach.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Warriors Determined To Beat Bafana Bafana

Khama Billiat says they will not sit back in the match against South Africa but will fight to get a positive result and preserve their pride.

The Warriors face Bafana Bafana in the penultimate round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the FNB Stadium at 9 pm CAT.

Zimbabwe is already out of the qualifiers and will be playing for pride, while the hosts need a victory to boost their chances of progressing to the next round.

Billiat, who is the stand-in captain, revealed their game plan for the encounter and explained the importance of the game.

He said: “We are taking the game seriously.

“We are professionals representing a big nation, so we are going to apply the things that we are working on at training.

“We believe in the coach and his tactics, so if we do what he tells us to do, then we stand a chance to get a good result.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Law and Grace

Sabbath School Summary
By Elder Dr Masimba Mavaza

Law and Grace
Lesson 7

Memory Text: “ ‘I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain’ ” (Galatians 2:21, NKJV).

INTRODUCTION
Christians of most denominations talk about law and grace and understand the relationship between the two. The law is God’s standard of holiness and righteousness, and violation of that law is sin. “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4, NKJV). And because we all have violated that law—“but the Scripture has confined all under sin” (Gal. 3:22, NKJV)—it’s only God’s grace that can save us. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8, NKJV).

(Of course, there is the “slight detail” of the seventh-day Sabbath as part of the law. Yet, for various reasons, many Christians are determined, at least for now, to reject the seventh-day Sabbath, coming up with all sorts of weak excuses to justify their rejection. But that’s all another topic.)
Even if expressed in different ways and in various scenarios, the theme of law and grace certainly is found all through the Bible, including the book of Deuteronomy. Yes, Deuteronomy, too, presents the relationship between law and grace but in a unique context.

SABBATH: The law of God & His grace coexist. It’s the sophistry of Satan that God’s law no longer abounds because of His grace. God’s grace does not replace His law or make it of none effect. We all have sinned & is need of God’s grace (1 John 3:4, Gal. 3:22). It’s only His grace that can save us (Eph. 2:8). Many Christians reject God’s law. Deuteronomy shows us that law & grace are in harmony.

SUNDAY: “We should never have learned the meaning of this word ‘grace’ had we not fallen.” God’s law is a law of love. In heaven, love is what encircles the government of God & His character. As moral beings with the moral freedom to love, God gave us His moral law. Atoms, waves, & mute animals are subject to natural laws, angels & men have the moral law (Ezek. 28:15, 16, Rom. 7:7, MB, p. 109).

MONDAY: Deuteronomy is God’s final words to Israel. Before the Israelites possessed Canaan, they were to remember the God who saved them from slavery, clothe & fed them in the wilderness to obey Him. In their covenant with God, it was their duty to obey Him (Deut. 4:44, 17:19, 28:58, 30:10, 31:12, 32:46, 33:2). Grace saved us to obey (Rom. 3:20, 28, John 14:15, Rev. 14:12). Exalt the law in grace!

TUESDAY: Israel did not seek after God’s grace, it was sent in search for them. While they were still a small nation & in slavery, the grace of God located them. The love of God pervaded in ancient Israel & throughout the OT. Today, Satan inspires men to defame the God of the OT as wicked, harsh, & mean. All the laws given to Israel was for their good. Obedience to the law attract blessings (Deut. 10:1-15).

WEDNESDAY: The amazing grace of God redeems. This theme of redeeming grace can be found in Deuteronomy. Again & again, Israel was reminded about God’s love shown to them while in slavery (Deut. 26:8, Micah 6:4). It points to the deliverance in Christ (Heb. 11:29, 1 Cor. 10:1-4). Moses spoke of the need for Israel to keep the law (the Sabbath) for being saved (Heb. 4:1-5, Matt. 18:21-35).

THURSDAY: Man, coated in dust, in his own strength & might can’t earn salvation. We’re only justified by faith in Christ (Rom. 4:3). We can only be saved by putting on the righteous garment of Christ. We’re prepared to put on Christ when we see our nothingness (FLB, p. 109). Only the grace of Christ, manifested at the Cross, can save man (Deut. 9:1-6, see Rev. 14:6, 2 Tim. 1:9, Titus 1:2).

FRIDAY: The Archenemy of God, Satan, work with all his might, as a skilled & trained general to make of none effect the holy law of God. God designed the world out of nothing. He formed the galaxies. A creator is bigger than what he created. Thus, Christ transcends His creation (John 1:1-3). Yet, He humbled Himself to live with men & die for men for them to earn salvation. Love Him! (Eccl. 12:13).

Discussion Questions

? In class, go over the question at the end of Monday’s study, about how people who believe in keeping God’s law, the Ten Commandments (including the fourth), can avoid the subtle traps of legalism. How does obedience, even strict and unwavering obedience, differ from legalism, and how can we know the difference between the two?

? What are some stories you have heard (or known firsthand) about how those who have violated the Ten Commandments suffered terrible consequences from that violation? What should this teach us about how the law reflects the reality of God’s love for us?

? Why should the cross show us the futility of trying to earn our way to heaven?

REVEALED-How Magaya Is Tricking Govt To Evade Police Arrest

By A Correspondent | ANALYSIS | Controversial Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya has moved to bribe the government by offering to build a school in Harare.

Magaya is facing several rape charges involving married female church members.

Walter Magaya

Recently the Supreme Court threw away his appeal seeking to stop an investigation into his rape cases by the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.

Magaya at his 38th birthday dinner, announced that he had started constructing a school under “The Heart Group of Schools” along Beatrice Road.

Magaya claimed that he drew inspiration from mainline denominations such as the Roman Catholic Church, Anglican and Methodist, among others that have built schools across the country.

He said:

As PHD ministries we have acquired a place along Masvingo Road and construction of a school has started.

I have been inspired by other churches like Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists and other church leaders like Apostle Guti in building a university.

The Heart Group of Schools aims to provide space for the gifted child struggling to find space in a conventional education setup.

Its entry point is to discover a student’s heart desire and nurture the passion and gift in a technologically advanced environment where the teacher is simply a guide or a facilitator.

Magaya was said to be diverting public attention from the historic Supreme Court case in which the court ruled over the abuse of women which involves the late Nigerian preacher, TB Joshua. The court ruled that the investigations into the Walter Magaya pile of rape allegations must go ahead.

More: H-Metro

TB Joshua was in 2016 recorded while trying to subvert the court of justice on one of the Magaya victims in the verified-case of Zimbabwean woman, Angela Charakupa, and in Nigeria he himself had up to the time of his death, piles of children and older women who are complainants against him.

Supreme Court

A long list of other women are complainants in cases reported on ZimEye since the unexplained sudden death of one of Magaya’s girlfriends in 2014, Chipo Chakanyuka.

Following the latest three cases, Walter Magaya had taken the Gender Commission Of Zimbabwe to the Supreme Court.

On the 23rd August 2019, the Commission issued General Notice 1444 of 2019 on Walter Magaya which it published in the Government Gazette. The General Notice authorized the respondent to conduct an investigation into complaints of sexual abuse generally made against the appellant.

In response, on 3 September 2019, Magaya filed an application with the High Court for a review of the decision by the respondent to launch the investigation pursuant to the General Notice. He followed this up with an urgent chamber application in which he sought by way of interim relief an interdict against the conduct of the investigation by the respondent.

On 22 October 2019, the High Court dismissed Magaya’s urgent chamber application with costs.

Magaya then appealed to the Supreme Court against that judgment.

He contended that he had good prospects of succeeding on the review and that his rights from the review process would be rendered nugatory if the investigations were not halted pending the review. His stance was that neither the Constitution nor the Act afforded the Commission the authority to conduct the contemplated investigation. To that extent, any investigation by the Commission constituted an illegality. He contended further that what the Commission intended from the published notice was outside its statutory mandate and as a result, Magaya was entitled to the protection of the law which he was seeking from the court.

But ruling against him, Supreme Court justices, Gowora, Patel and Uchena stated as follows:

Regrettably for the appellant, he has tactically miscalculated the nature of the relief that he sought in the urgent chamber application before the court a quo. He has also failed to correlate and align the draft order in the chamber application with the relief sought in the application for review pending before the High Court.

In the final analysis, the applicant has failed to take into account the formidable hurdle presented by the rule that an interdict cannot in principle be granted against conduct that is prima facie lawful and carried out in terms of an extant statutory instrument that is presumed to be valid until it is duly set aside by a competent court that is properly seized with the question of its validity. In any case, as a matter of procedural correctness, the validity of the impugned General Notice could not properly have been an issue before the court a quo until the return day had arrived. By the same token, it cannot be properly ventilated before and determined by this Court on appeal against the judgment a quo. For these essentially technical reasons, I would agree with Gowora JA that the present appeal should not be allowed.

US “Ignores” ED

By A Correspondent- US President Joe Biden has invited 100 heads of states from across the globe for a virtual two-day roundtable which will be held in December.

Of note, most of the SADC countries, save for Zimbabwe, are expected to attend the Democracy Summit.

Tanzania and Eswatini will also not attend. Eswatini is plagued with political problems while Tanzania have also not been invited.

While the public diplomacy section of US Foreign Affairs said it would not comment on how each country was selected, it added the summit would be an opportunity “for world leaders to listen to one another and to their citizens, share successes, drive international collaboration, and speak honestly about the challenges facing democracy so as to collectively strengthen the foundation for democratic renewal”.

The summit will be followed by another sometime next year, where Biden will host 100 world leaders in the District of Columbia.

“The December 9 to 10 Virtual Summit for Democracy will bring together leaders from a diverse group of the world’s democracies. In roughly a year’s time, a second in-person summit will take place,” the department said in a statement.

But for Zimbabwe, it is a diplomatic loss after President Emmerson Mnangagwa claimed to his supporters on his return from the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow he had discussions with Biden who promised to look into sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

A research fellow at the University of Witwatersrand, Dr William Mpofu, said Zimbabwe was failing to uphold human rights, freedom of expression, democracy and the rule of law which was basic tenets required from it.

“If you look at the diplomatic performance of Zimbabwe, all the attempts to re-engage and even join the Commonwealth, they have been ‘Idi Amin’ in nature. As a statesman [Mnangagwa] should do better than lying to the people,” he added.

According to global human rights and democracy think tank Freedom House, Zimbabwe’s status in the past two years had deteriorated from partly free to not free due to the authorities’ intensifying persecution of opposition figures and civic activists.

Despite strained relations, the US is the single biggest country offering donor assistance to Zimbabwe.

Since independence in 1980, it has spent at least US$3.5 billion through initiatives such as food security, support for economic resilience and health outcomes.-

Tswibidi/Twabam: An Abstract Take on A Young #Zimbabwe Material Consciousness

By Takura Zhangazha| So a young Zimbabwean cde in his professional work with me was in conversation explaining how certain things work. He then used a specific turn of phrase about how you realize that everything is sorted.

This was a turn of phrase that related to a popular social media religious influencer called Passion Java. And verbatim he sort of says that when all else is done (as planned) it will be “Tswibidi, Twabam”. It was as funny as it was telling because there is no official language that recognizes such phrases.

Except for the new found language of young Zimbabweans that have a tendency to go with whatever suits their fancy. Upon reflection I realized that while the young cde who assisted me with a specific task did not really take it as seriously as I would, it was a part of his everyday consciousness via language and more significantly, via social media.

And this is a very difficult point to make unless you are an engrossed academic or social media aficionado (please google aficionado). The casual verbal statement of popular or trending phrases is generally indicative of an emerging cultural consciousness that cannot be ignored.

Even if it appears distasteful for some but in reality it is a bit more sophisticated, or even existential (if you are an academic that has Sartre or Beauvoir) tendencies. What it pointed to was an emerging hegemonic narrative about what Zimbabwean society is and what it can be.

Not only from the lenses of those that would be at the material/intellectual infancy of their lives but also those that would prefer a more ordered approach to what they consider ‘progress’ in Zimbabwean society.

It is a narrative that no longer resides in libraries let alone a critical consciousness revolutionary assumption of what our society should look like in the future. It’s a reality based on its own reality. In the moment. And I will explain this within the context of a Zimbabwean reality.

On a number of occassions I have had abstract conversations with colleagues and cdes about what it is that informs the contemporary Zimbabwean consciousness. In most of these chats the answers have hovered around at least three aspects; materialism, pursuit of multiple recognitions and fashionability or high individualization of opinions (which is linked to the latter).

It is a regrettable narrative of an assumption of material arrival. And this is across all classes (bourgeoisie , comprador bourgeoisie, middle class, working class, peasantry) . Or assumptions of what would be lived realities.

But this is where we are. Something that Prof Masipula Sithole would have referred to as an assumption that we could all live the ‘good life’. Which basically meant an urban tranquil existence while comparatively looking down at those that never ‘arrived’.

But back to the young cde who was using language that dominates social media. All based on influencers and their perspective on things. I admit that I do not know if he did it deliberately or by default. But what was clear is that it was almost part of his natural being as he spoke. His impressionability could have been taken as abstract.

The reality of the matter is that it is what a lot of young Zimbabweans are thinking and feeling at the moment. At least those that have access to electricity and social media. Be they in country or in the Diaspora. What we however need to realise is that this consciousness is as ephemeral as it would be ahistorical. Social media influencers invariably will be here today and gone tomorrow.

Including those that claim to be prophets or people with access to money that are followed by elaborate, choreographed arrivals in Ghetto streets. There is an interesting perspective to this.

This being that we have to understand a specific reality about how young Zimbabweans view their society and their futures. In the main this is about materialism, opulence in context and/or departure from a metaphoric cesspit that would be Zimbabwe.

Something which I find completely understandable particularly given the biased leanings of our mainstream education system which is designed to admire other peoples’ societies. The challenge then becomes how we re-emerge from a national consciousness that while touting liberation and Pan Africanism assumes that we need specific historical gazes to be regarded as human.

That is a task that is as hard as it is time bound by way of age and/or a lack of understanding of the need for a new historical progressive consciousness. The task(s) ahead for Zimbabwe and its cohort of parents or people still enabling the next generation to flourish is to be a bit more realistic and perhaps re-examine our own individualistic values. We need to look a bit more inward.

Our children are our collective children. The more we try and assume an outward presence to their being. The more they become distant from us or what we consider our values. As an abstract but relatively personal conclusion, I will most certainly teach my children that in part, whatever their individual decisions, they are within their right to be here, at home, in Zimbabwe.

Govt In Selective Approach To Bonus Payment

By A Correspondent- The government has announced that it will pay US dollar year-end bonuses to former liberation war-fighters.

Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri announced Kariba. She said the liberation war veterans were set to receive end-of-year bonuses denominated in United States Dollars.

Muchinguri-Kashiri announced during her address to the military top brass at a 2022 strategic planning workshop in Kariba.

“Already, a commitment has been made by Treasury to pay war veterans bonuses this year, a part of which is likely to be in foreign currency. Measures are also being taken to improve the benefits of the veterans further.
The ministry also has obligations to administer the welfare services of veterans of the liberation struggle. And as we plan for 2022 and beyond, it is critical for us not to leave them behind. They are an important constituent of our society by virtue of the sacrifices towards Mother Zimbabwe from the jaws of colonial bondage”.

“In this regard, it’s noteworthy that the ministry, to date, has managed to institute a Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Board, which was launched by His Excellency the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa).”

“Low Tarriffs Hinder ZESA Retooling”: ZNCC

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Wednesday said the government should grant power producer, ZESA Holdings, authority to hike power tariffs and give impetus to its recapitalisation plan.

In a submission to the Finance and Economic Development ministry spelling out its expectations for the 2022 national budget, the ZNCC said low tariffs have held back ZESA from retooling.

The ZNCC said with sustainable tariffs, the State-run power utility could attract private investors.

ZNCC said:

ZESA (must be allowed) charge cost-reflective tariffs that attract independent power producers (IPPs) in line with the IPP policy.

Promote alternative energy sources. We propose that the government maintains the customs duty on solar products at 0% for the financial year 2022.

With ageing power stations, ZESA has struggled to raise capital to revamp its struggling infrastructure.

Three of the State-run power producer’s power stations have been operating at about 10% of installed capacity.

The result has been rolling blackouts that have threatened growth targets, and also left domestic consumers in dire straits.

Pressure has been mounting on the broke government to bail out the power utility.

ZESA is undertaking the US$1.5 billion Hwange Thermal Power Station expansion alone, but with industries expecting to increase production in the coming years, analysts say this falls short of the capacity required to underpin industrial recovery.

While Zimbabwe’s power tariffs rank among the lowest in southern Africa, consumer rights groups have warned that a hike can worsen the socio-economic crisis in the country

Clashes Over Vending Bays

By A Correspondent- Members of the governing Zanu PF Tuesday clashed with Vapostori over vending bays from Joshua Nkomo street to Fife Street along 5th Avenue in Bulawayo.

When the Southern eye crew arrived at the scene, there was pushing and shoving as they jostled for marked vending bays, with municipal police struggling to contain the situation that was fast blowing out of hand.

Zanu PF Advocates For US$ Pensions For War Vets

Pension

By A Correspondent- Umzingwane legislator Levi Mayihlome (ZANU PF) has urged the government to pay pensioners including war veterans a minimum of US$200 in monthly pensions.

Mayihlome’s call for US dollar pensions comes hardly a month after a group of disgruntled ex-combatants were arrested after protesting in central Harare demanding an upward review of their monthly stipends.

In his contribution to a motion in reply to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the presidential speech on the official opening of the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament, Mayihlome said ex-combatants and other pensioners were living like paupers.

Mayihlome said:

The pension should at least be reviewed upwards to a minimum of about US$200 per month for all pensioners, including war veterans so that at least they have a decent life.

I would want to talk about the National Social Security Authority pensions.  My plea is that the Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare ministry needs to review these pensions.

They reviewed it upwards from US$15 to US$45 and now it is going to be US$60 per month per individual, but who can live on US$60 per month?

These are people who have contributed to the development of this country. They worked hard all their lives. They toiled making major investments, some of which have been the pride of this country, yet we expect them to live on US$60 per month. It’s not fair.

Last year, the government adjusted pensions for the former freedom fighters to cushion them against the rising cost of living but inflation has left many failing to afford basics.

Meanwhile, civil servants have been pushing for the restoration of the US$540 average earned before October 2018 but the government says the demand cannot be met due to the scarcity of foreign currency.

The government promised to periodically increase their salaries. Some workers, including teachers, are earning an average of US$100.

ED’s Chimanimani Bound Helicopters Makes U-turn, Lands In Golf Course

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s two Chimanimani-bound helicopters were Wednesday forced to make a U-turn after reaching Mutare only to land in a golf course in Marondera.

NewsDay reports that one of them landed awkwardly, triggering fears that it could have developed technical fault mid-air.

Mnangagwa was on his way to Chimanimani, Manicaland province, to officially open Jopa-Kopa highway which was washed away by Cyclone Idai two years ago.

Witnesses said one of the helicopters landed awkwardly at around 8 am suggesting that it could have developed a technical fault.

Security details in Marondera rushed to the scene soon after the helicopters landed, with Mnangagwa’s motorcade arriving 45 minutes later to whisk him away.

Mnangagwa later proceeded to Chimanimani by road, forcing changes to the programme after arriving late for the event.

Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa dismissed speculation that the choppers had developed technical faults, saying they were forced to land in Marondera due to bad weather.

She said:

No, nothing like that happened. You can check with the presidential spokesperson George Charamba. But all I know is the President arrived late, his helicopters failed to land in Mutare due to bad weather and they returned to Marondera and later came by road.

This is not the first time Mnangagwa has been forced to abandon his helicopter.

Last month, he was forced to travel to Rutenga in Masvingo province by road after security concerns were raised over “faulty and aged” presidential helicopters.

In August, Mnangagwa’s chopper reportedly crash-landed about 65km from Harare when he was coming back to the capital from his Precabe Farm in Kwekwe.

In the same month, bad weather hindered Mnangagwa’s trip to Mutare, where he was expected to commission a medical oxygen and industrial gas plant at Feruka.

Zanu PF Indoctrinates School Heads

By A Correspondent- Several school heads in Mutasa district, Manicaland province were allegedly forced to attend an induction training facilitated by Zanu PF at the weekend, a development that has irked teachers who described it as “disturbingly unconstitutional”.

It is alleged that the Mutasa Zanu PF induction training was held on Saturday and Sunday, and was facilitated by party provincial officials, members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), and army personnel.
ZNLWVA spokesperson Douglas Mahiya declined to comment on the issue.
The training programme came hardly two months after the Zanu PF Bulawayo province recommended that all civil servants compulsorily attend the ruling party’s Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology drills.
National Association of School Heads (NASH) secretary-general Munyaradzi Majoni said: “It’s unfortunate that with regards the said meetings, I am not privileged to be aware of such meetings but we cannot rule out the possibility.
“As far as I am concerned, our members have not been invited through us (NASH) to attend the meetings.”
Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) president Obert Masaraure said the Zanu PF induction drills were illegal.
“These trainings are ongoing nationwide. The Constitution of the Republic proscribes civil servants from engaging in partisan business. Our ruling party is once again wantonly violating the Constitution it is expected to uphold,” Masaraure said.
“Learners are being denied full access to education as school heads are leaving schools unattended. Zanu PF should be ashamed of itself; the preoccupation with power retention by any means necessary is pathetic.”
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Takavafira Zhou said the Zanu PF indoctrination lessons were not happening in Mutasa only.
“It is unfortunate that we are witnessing the “party-nisation” of government institutions, particularly the Ministry of Education. The reality is that there is a militarisation of the Education ministry with the whole essence of ensuring that personnel within the ministry are Zanu-nised.”
Mutasa Central MDC Alliance legislator Trevor Saruwaka confirmed that the induction meetings took place in his constituency.
“This is a violation of sections 200 and 208 of the Constitution,” Saruwaka said.
The provisions bar civil servants from engaging in party politics and furthering the interests or cause of any particular party.
“It is these unconstitutional acts that have taken Zimbabwe where it is today. Lawlessness by the ruling party and its institutions especially the security sector have cemented our status as a pariah State,” Saruwaka said.

Zodwa Wabantu ‘Slaps Patron’ For Touching Bum

By A Correspondent- South African socialite and dancer Zodwa Wabantu has warned her followers to respect her space.

Zodwa gave the warning when she was speaking to Daily Sun. She said that she was tired of people who thought they were entitled to spanking her bum and touching her when she was out enjoying herself.

She said when she was not working, people should understand and respect that.

S_x Starved Sangoma Dumps Husband For Clients

By A Correspondent- A Norton traditional based healer has ditched her husband for her married clients claiming the spirit medium on her never wanted her to give her to sleep with her husband.

Felistas Chabata, 43, ditched her husband Percy Matsiwo, 47, in Buhera and relocated to Norton, which is her new operating base.

Chabata told H-Metro that she was also sex-starved as her spirit never wanted her to bed Matsiwo forcing her to seduce some of her married clients.
She admitted to bedding two married men Tawedzerwa Kutadza, 42, a security guard and Felix Gonde, 46, a member of the uniformed forces.
“I got married to Matsiwo six years ago as his second wife,” said Chabata. “We were staying in Borrowdale while his first wife was at the village in Buhera.
“When his first wife passed on he remained in Buhera for a long time claiming that he wanted more
“Ini ndinosvikirwa; ndiri svikiro zvangu asi ndinodawo nguva nemurume wangu. I was sexually starved for some time leading me to be satiated by some of my clients.
“One of the clients is Tawedzerwa Kutadza who admired me and got attracted to my wealth that he ended up introducing me to his wife and relatives.
“Kutadza wanted my money more than me and I decided to leave him.
“Ndiye munhu ari kurwadziwa nekurambwa iyeye; ndiye akazoenda kumurume wangu achimuudza zvekudanana kwangu naFelix Gonde.
“Kutadza is refusing to come and collect some of his clothes he left at my place.
“My husband heard about my illicit affairs and started sending love messages to me.
“He is now pretending to be a good person but he is the one who ditched me and is refusing to acquire a birth certificate for our child,” said Chabata.
Chabata told H-Metro that Gonde fell in love with her when he visited her place for help.
“Gonde is married, mudzimai wake ndewenhaka saka ari kudawo neni.
“He admired me and we ended up in a serious relationship that he promised to pay lobola this December.
“This matter was raised by Kutadza leading Matsiwo to take it to social media out of jealousy,” she said.
Chabata opened up to H-Metro that she would deny Matsiwo his conjugal rights due to spirit mediums possessing her.
“Semudzimai anosvikirwa pane imwe nguva yandaisada kurara nemurume zvekuti simba randinonzwa kana precast wall ndinosvetuka.
Ndinorara ndakagara usiku nekuti husiku ndipo masvikiro anorwisa vavengi.
“Spirit mediums do not entertain quarrels and that would force me to leave my husband and stay in mountains.
“Yes, there is time I need my husband to quench that sexual appetite and we enjoy that during the day mostly.

“Kutadza stays in Warren Park and he wants me to support his family financially; no no hazvipere mushe nekuti aiuya otora grocery ondopa mhuri yake,” said Chabata.
Kutadza confirmed his illicit affair with Chabata but refused to shed more light.
“We once had an affair and she is the traditional healer who made headlines for stopping mysterious stones in Buhera,” said Kutadza.
“I will tell you more later,” he said.
Gonde confirmed his affair with Chabata saying he found her single only to hear about Matsiwo some weeks ago.
“I found Chabata not attached to any man, she was a single mother,” said Gonde.
“She told me that she had separated with Matsiwo some time back.
“The person fighting my affair with Chabata is her former lover Kutadza.
“Matsiwo is trying to bulldoze his way back into a relationship he quit while Kutadza is trying to find his way back,” said Gonde.
Chabata, born in Zvimba village, told H-Metro that her marriage to Matsiwo started when she was on a church mission in Buhera.
Asked if she was a traditional or a faith healer, Chabata said she uses spirit mediums in her prophecies.
“It’s time for technology so today’s generation believes in prophets that is why I conduct my services in the name of church but the truth is that spirit mediums lead me,” said Chabata.

Mugwadi Defends Indoctrination Of School Heads

US Dollar Bonuses For War Vets

Ginimbi The Man : 1984- 2020

Genius Kadungure(1984-2020)

By Simba Nyamadzawo

Ginimbi as controversial as he was, 3 facts are indisputable.

  1. Anga ariMbinga.
  2. He was famous and he will be missed by his legion of followers.
  3. He lived a happy life many would envy.

As someone who grew up in the same village -Domboshava ,in which Ginimbi hailed from ,it is hard for me to ignore his legacy and what it represents.

I took time to reflect on his legacy and analyze the allegations raised by his critics, unfortunately I could not reach a decisive point.

I last met Genius Kadungure in 2017 at Oliver Reginald Tambo International Airport, hatina kukurukura we just exchanged greetings as I was rushing to catch Gautrain. He asked me to phone him at the earliest convenient time. I phoned him a few days later and he said he is not yet back in the country we should touch base when he returns. I never made a follow up.

Ginimbi represents different things to different people. While a lot has been written about his riches, merry parties and flamboyant cars, very little is in public record about the Genius Kadungure Foundation, his philanthropic activities and generous deeds.

Inini hangu ndakazvimiririra what inspired me most about Gimimbi is the fact that he was proud of his home area and he never deserted it, to an extent of building a mansion there. That property will remain “standing” long after all the flashy cars have depreciated.
He proved beyond any reasonable doubt to the young boys and old men alike from Domboshava that it is possible for a villager to amass wealth and build a massive property kuJecha.

That mansion is a testament that he wanted to be associated with Domboshava. In some of his videos he addressed himself as “Ginimbi your boy from Domboshava.”

Someone once asked him kuti “Unoidi property isina maTitle Deeds?” and Ginimbi gave an unexpected answer.

“Shamwari, ndomadii maTitle Deeds? This house is not for sale, it is my home.”

Some will celebrate Ginimbi, others will find pleasure in criticizing him, others will take time to decipher the source of his wealth.
To us who hail from Domboshava, he remains one of us, a brother, a mbinga.

Rest In Peace Mutenhesanwa.

Mugwadi In Embarrassing Gaffe

By A Correspondent- Zanu Pf stalwart Tafadzwa Mugwadi has torched a social media storm after posting a picture of Kopa Road alleging that the road was rehabilitated under the new dispensation.

However, a close analysis of the two pictures shows that the rehabilitated road is somewhere near St Martins along Seke road and not Kopa road as alleged by Mugwadi.

Mnangagwa Buys War Veterans Loyalty With USD Bonuses

Headmasters Forced Into Chitepo Ideology Training

Several school heads in Mutasa district, Manicaland province were allegedly forced to attend an induction training facilitated by Zanu PF at the weekend, a development that has irked teachers who described it as “disturbingly unconstitutional.”

Teachers’ unions yesterday said the indoctrination sessions were taking place in different parts of the country.

Tafadzwa Mugwadi

Zanu PF information director Tafadzwa Mugwadi told NewsDay that there was nothing untoward about the “induction” meetings. He said Zanu PF drew its membership from all professions.

“There is nothing amiss with Zanu PF engaging the school heads, if ever there was such a meeting in Mutasa. In any case, the membership of the party cuts across headmasters, the nursing profession and other civil servants,” Mugwadi said.

– Newsday

Air Force Soldier Daughter Rejected Over Zim Dollar

Air Force of Zimbabwe Air Vice-Marshal Michael Moyo has taken Dominican Convent School to court for withdrawing an offer letter for his daughter after he refused to pay school fees in United States dollars.

Moyo, together with his wife, Sylvia, are seeking an order declaring the school’s decision unlawful and also an order compelling it to comply with Statutory Instrument (SI) 127/2021, also known as Presidential Powers Temporary Measures financial Laundering Amendment Regulations 2021.

Zimdollar_new bundle – file copy

The SI gives the central bank powers to impose penalties in the event of default in complying with exchange control regulations that govern use of funds obtained from the central bank forex auction system.

According to the court application, Moyo’s daughter has been learning at the school since Grade 1 and is now in Grade 7.

Earlier this year, his daughter allegedly applied for a Form 1 place at the school in line with the procedures.

The application and consideration were, however, merit-based and his daughter excelled, resulting in her being offered a place for the class commencing 2022.

In order to secure the place, they were advised to pay a development levy of US$1 500 by September 30, 2021.

Moyo said he went to the school on September 8 to settle the fees, but was told he could only pay in US dollars.

“The request for payment in strictly US dollar cash was surprising. That demand was the basis upon which I sought a meeting with the head to engage on the contents of the offer letter, particularly on the payment mode as I had intended to make payment for the accepted offer, albeit using the local currency at the official interbank rate,” Moyo said in his application.

His request for the meeting, however, was turned down.

Moyo said the deputy school head refused to meet him, insisting the air force boss should simply pay in US$.

To his surprise, Moyo said, he received a letter dated September 30 from the school head notifying him of the withdrawal of the offer for the Form 1 place for his daughter.

He said the school head told him that he had displayed his unwillingness to be bound by the school rules and regulations, which was detrimental not only to the school, but to other parents.

Moyo argued that he was punished for asking to pay in local currency.

He said he was not aware of the rules and regulations which the school said he violated as they were never communicated to him.

He is seeking the school’s decision to be declared null and void and for his daughter to be given a place at the school.

The matter is yet to be heard.– Newsday

Mnangagwa Sets Elections Next Year

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has rallied the legion of Zanu-PF supporters to ensure a sweeping victory in the by-elections slated for the first quarter of next year, adding that the polls will serve as a litmus test for the revolutionary party’s preparedness for the 2023 harmonised elections.

Emmerson Mnangagwa

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters at Kopa Grounds in Chimanimani yesterday, President Mnangagwa said a resounding victory for Zanu-PF was inevitable as the party through the Government had rolled out a lot of projects that positively impacted on people’s lives.

As of October 22, Zimbabwe had a total of 133 elective by-elections at National Assembly and local authority levels.

The by-elections were necessitated by recalls of MDC-T members from the two bodies (National Assembly or local authorities), deaths and dismissals.

“We will be holding by-elections during the first quarter of 2022. As Zanu-PF, we want a clean sweep of all the vacant seats. This will serve as a litmus test of our preparedness for the 2023 harmonised elections. We should register and vote in our numbers to ensure that the country remains in safe hands.

“Mobile registration exercises will be rolled out in all deserving areas, and those without identification particulars should take advantage of this exercise to acquire the documents and register as voters.

“The mobile registration exercise should ensure that all people have the necessary identification details without any hassles. We want to ensure that as many people as possible are registered as voters,” said President Mnangagwa.

He reiterated calls for peace to ensure that the development trajectory the country has taken is not derailed.

“We should continue developing our economy. This can only be achieved if there is peace in the country. We should all be peaceful.

“My Government will ensure that no-one, and no place is left behind in the development trajectory. There is no province you can point saying there is no development taking place. From Matabeleland to all corners of the country there are activities happening on the ground. We are working at alleviating the perennial water challenges that were bedevilling Bulawayo and other cities in the country.

“We are also happy with the progress on the Harare-Beitbridge Road, and from January, we will be embarking on the Harare-Kanyemba Road construction project. Every member of the National Assembly should come up with a list of projects that will benefit their constituencies and the Constituency Development Fund should be put to maximum use,” said President Mnangagwa.

As Zimbabwe moves towards the rainy season where weather experts have predicted a normal to above normal season, occasioned by natural disasters, President Mnangagwa, said Government has already availed funds for early warning systems as well as mitigatory measures to save lives and protect infrastructure.

“As a country we are prone to natural disasters and we have set aside funds to mitigate against them. We should be adequately prepared for any disasters. We should have in place early warning systems as well as mitigatory measures. Mechanism should also be put in place to ensure minimum damage of infrastructure in the event of these natural disasters,” he said.

He said Zimbabwe like any other country is also suffering the brunt of climate change, a reason why it added its voice to calls by the developing world to be accorded a transition period to move from fossil fuels to green energy.

“We were recently in Glasgow, Scotland, where the issue of the continuous use of fossil fuels took centre stage. After developing their countries through the use of fossil fuels, the developed world is advocating for their ban, but we stood up against them.

“The developed world is the major contributor to climate change through the emission of gases when they were developing their industries and now want Africa, Latin America and Asia to stop using fossil fuels, yet we have large deposits of them like coal.

“We called for a transitional period of between 15 to 30 years for us to move to green energies. The developed world should avail funds for the developing world to invest in solar energy, wind-powered electricity generating turbines and biogas.

This is not an overnight event as climate change does not select between the developed and developing world,” said President Mnangagwa.

Turning to the Pfumvudza programme which he will be launching in Gokwe today, President Mnangagwa said everyone should benefit regardless of having prepared the fields or not.

“There should be no discrimination in the distribution of inputs under the Pfumvudza programme. Agritex extension officers should ensure that everyone benefits. Those who fail to benefit from this Government programme should not hesitate to approach their traditional leaders or law enforcement agents for redress,” said President Mnangagwa. – Herald

Obasanjo To The Rescue In Tigray

By A Correspondent | Former Nigerian President and statesman Olusegun Obasanjo, has flown to Ethiopia, to the wartorn Tigray region.

Writing on Monday evening, the academic Prof Patrick Lumumba said: President Obasanjo, has been to Mekelle and will be visiting the Amhara Region tomorrow.

He said the president’s effort requires support.

President Olusegun Obasanjo – file pic

The immediate Past Executive Director Of the Kwame Nkrumah Institute, Benjamin Anyagre, weighed in saying, “this is the time for all Africans concerned about the real destiny and future of Africa to rally around and support President Obasanjo for this great effort.

“African problems must be resolved by Africans and by Africans and no one else.
It’s time to support our Elderly African Stateman – President Obasanjo’s initiative and call for a cease fire.

“Civil unrest and conflicts are becoming increasingly a threat to our very existence on our homeland Africa.”

The development comes as the
United States ordered all non-emergency US government employees in Ethiopia to leave – warning that “incidents of civil unrest and ethnic violence are occurring without warning” – while other countries have also warned staff to leave while commercial flights are still available.

Tigrayan rebel forces and their allies were at the time of writing marching towards the capital, Addis Ababa, where thousands of people have taken to the streets vowing to defend it.

Billiat To Captain Warriors Against Bafana Bafana

Warriors’ attacking midfielder Khama Billiat will captain Zimbabwe in the absence of injured skipper Knowledge Musona when the Warriors play Bafana Bafana on Thursday.

South Africa will host Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier at FNB Stadium …

The Kaizer Chiefs forward will also perform the same duty in the last of the qualifiers against Ethiopia at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday. Said interim coach Norman Mapeza from the team’s base in South Africa:

Khama will be the stand-in captain.

Zimbabwe will be without Musona, defender Teenage Hadebe, Tino Kadewere, and Tendayi Darikwa who sustained injuries recently.

In the absence of Musona, Khama Billiat remains the most senior player in terms of international caps.

Warriors coach, Norman Mapeza has indicated that the match against Bafana Bafana will be an opportunity for Zimbabwe to restore its pride after drawing in the first leg in Harare.

South Africa on the other hand will be seeking to snatch a win and finish on top of the log provided that Ghana loses or draws against Ethiopia in the other group match.- Chronicle

Warriors To Fight For National Pride

Norman Mapeza believes his charges can restore national pride in the wake of a battered image but warned that its a process, not something that can happen over night.

Zimbabwe take on South Africa in the penultimate World Cup Group G qualifier on Thursday evening at the FNB Stadium and head into the clash on the back of what has been a disappointing campaign in which they have one point from four matches.

Mapeza, who took over from Zdravko Logarusic, has so far overseen two matches- the defeats to Ghana in last month’s double-header but believes the team can restore national pride with time.

” This is a process not an event. We are trying to build a team that can compete. A team for the future because we need to restore our national pride,” he said.

“Right now our image is battered and we need to restore that. It’s not about proving a point but building a winning team and it’s a process,” added the former national team captain.

The team trained at Sandton Sports Club in Johanesburg this morning, under the watchful eye of Mapeza and his trusted lieutenants Taurai Mangwiro and Mandla Mpofu.

New Breed Of Armed Robbers In Harare

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police has warned groups of armed robbers pouncing on homes and businesses and demanding cash.

In a statement, ZRP said the groups numbering from four to 12 had wreaked havoc in Harare.

Reads the ZRP statement:

They will be armed with various weapons, including guns and are targeting cash and valuables.

They are pouncing on homes and businesses, forcing entry through breaking doors or screens. They also waylay their victims in the yard and take hostage anyone found outside the house or business premises.

They use that person to communicate with people inside the house to open the door. They also use very threatening language to instil fear into their victims before taking away cash and other valuables.

After robbing they disappear using gate away car or cars. They mostly operate during the night. Their modus operandi can only be subdued through coordinated efforts to combat this menace.

We need to form patrol teams, mobile and foot patrols. Each team is to be accompanied by armed police officers from the local police station. Stop and searches should be conducted on all those who are found travelling at night.

All suspicious persons are to be taken to the police station for questioning. We are all potential victims hence the need to have the spirit of teamwork. If we fail to contain this challenge surely businesses will be affected seriously.

Those who have businesses they operate please stop carrying any cash home. Do not keep cash on your person. Do not announce the person who takes safe or door keys after closing of business.

Never trust your employees because we suspect some robbery cases are being planned from within. Have armed security guards manning your business or tell other business operators to comply with this advice.

Businesses should form patrolling teams to protect their businesses. Never leave doors to your home open when you’re at home.

Always try to minimize your chances of getting outside the house especially after dawn. Once attacked please do not resist.

Let us join hands with ZRP to fight crime in our community. It is everyone’s responsibility. Always keep the local police station contact number on your phone. Exchange phone contacts with your neighbours. Be a brother’s keeper.

Your local police station is ready to work with you through Neighborhood Watch Committees. Let us value our safety as united citizens.

Magaya Tricks Government To Evade Prosecution

By A Correspondent- Controversial Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya has moved to bribe the government by offering to build a school in Harare.

Magaya is facing several rape charges involving married female church members.

More: H-Metro

Magaya was said to be diverting public attention from the historic Supreme Court case in which the court ruled over the abuse of women which involves the late Nigerian preacher, TB Joshua. The court ruled that the investigations into the Walter Magaya pile of rape allegations must go ahead.

Mnangagwa Gives In To War Vets’ Demands

By A Correspondent- The government has given in to demands by the former liberation war-fighters who have been pressing for allowances in foreign currency for a long time.

The admission was expressed by the Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri in Kariba, where she said the liberation war veterans were set to receive end-of-year bonuses denominated in United States Dollars.

Muchinguri-Kashiri announced during her address to the military top brass at a 2022 strategic planning workshop in Kariba.

“Already, a commitment has been made by Treasury to pay war veterans bonuses this year, a part of which is likely to be in foreign currency. Measures are also being taken to improve benefits of the veterans further.

Renounce Zanu PF Membership- MDC Alliance Tells Malaba

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Namibia has said the participation of Luke Malaba in Zanu PF political processes jeopardizes his esteemed profession.

Malaba is a declared Zanu PF sympathizer…

See the MDC Alliance Namibia statement below:

Judicial independence is a fundamental value of the rule of law and of constitutionalism: Mdc Alliance Namibia posits.

10 November 2021

Social democrats who subscribe to the able and diligent leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa (The Eagle/Wamba Dia Wamba) were mesmerized, transfixed and hypnotised upon realising that Chief Justice Mr Luke Malaba was part of those who attended the Zanupf conference in Bindura on the 25th of October 2021.

Mdc Alliance Namibia has the conviction that Mr Malaba’s conduct is a gross violation of Section 165(4)(a) of The Constitution of Zimbabwe which seriously prohibit members of the Judiciary from attending political meetings of that nature.

Without wasting time, we would like to clearly urge the Judicial Service Commission to take stern measures against Mr Malaba whose behaviour amounts to gross misconduct which can cost him complete removal from this office as stipulated in Section 187(1)(c) considering his unethical and unprofessional conduct which undermines the Supreme Law of the motherland. We posit that Mr Malaba should do the honourable thing and resign so that he can support Zanupf since it is the part of his choice. The Chief Justice should be the custodian of law which makes it compulsory for him and his colleagues to follow the dictates of law without fear or favour. Mdc Alliance Namibia is absolutely cognisant to figure out that the Judicial Services Commission according to Section (190)(2) must promote and facilitate the independence, the efficient ,the effective and transparent administration of justice in Zimbabwe and has powers needed for this purpose.

In light of the above background, it becomes imperative for social democrats in Zimbabwe and in the diaspora to democratically pent up their outrage demanding Judicial independence for the good of the rule of law and constitutionalism. Mr Malaba’s conduct is detrimental to the survival of Constitutional Democracy in Zimbabwe. As Mdc Alliance Namibia, we believe that Mr Malaba and his colleagues in Judicial Services Commission should safeguard the rule of law and promoting democratic governance which remains a mere dream without a well functioning Judiciary System.

It very vital in Constitutional Democracy that individual judges and the whole judicial system must stay far away from political outfits. His presence at the Zanupf meeting is a testament to serious state capture. Constitutional fighters in Namibia advocate for the impartiality and complete independence of the judicial system for transparency and objectivity. We believe that Zanupf should distance itself from the judges although there must, of necessity, be some relations between the judiciary and the political powers especially(The Executive), such relations must not interfere with the judiciary’s liberty in adjudicating individual disputes and upholding the law and values of the constitution. We have seen lawfare since the inception of the Political Behemoth in 1999 to date. Many social democrats were and are still victims of state sponsored deaths , torture, arbitrary arrests, illegal convictions, selective distribution of food aid and intimidation but perpetrators of such satanic violence are walking scot-free when Makomborero Haruzivishe is languishing in the hell hole of Harare prison for challenging senseless and barefaced corruption.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia would like to encourage Mr Luke Malaba to respect the rule of law and constitutionalism. We are tired of a captured judiciary system since it should serve as a foundation for the rule of law and democracy. ZanuPF Satanists and their enablers are obliged to follow the constitution religiously.

Zim Referee Banned For “Mishandling” Soccer Match

The Zimbabwe Football Association Referee’s Committee has banned Munyaradzi Mujoni for two months following his poor performance on Sunday.

Mujoni was the centre referee in Dynamos’ controversial 1-0 win against Yadah on Matchday One of the 2021 Castle Lager Premiership.

The Midlands-based official made a couple of bad calls in the game including the Patson Jaure incident which could have resulted in a straight red card for the DeMbare skipper.

The referee then turned down a clear penalty when Jaure deflected a goal-bound ball with his hand.

The Referee’s Committee have now written to Mujoni, informing him about the ban.

The later reads: “The Zimbabwe Football Association Referees Committee wishes to inform you that you have been suspended from football refereeing with immediate effect for a period of two months,’’ wrote committee secretary-general, Obert Zhoya.

“This follows your poor performance during the league match played at the NSS (National Sports Stadium) on Sunday, 7 November, 2021 between Dynamos and Yadah.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Benjani Blames Lack Of Preparation For Warriors Poor Performance

Former Warriors assistant coach Benjani Mwaruwari believes the national team could have done better in the World Cup Qualifiers if they had got proper preparations.

Zimbabwe were eliminated from the tournament following back-to-back defeats against Ghana last month. The team had only picked a point versus South Africa and lost against Ethiopia in their second game.

Mwaruwari, who was sacked from his position, along with head coach Zdravko Logarusic after the Ethiopia defeat, also highlighted how the issue of injured players in the squad influenced the performances.

He said on South African radio station Metro FM:

“We were not playing any football in Zimbabwe (due to the coronavirus pandemic). When we played Ethiopia, our star players were injured.”

Zimbabwe will wrap up their qualifying round with dead rubbers against South Africa on Thursday and then host Ethiopia in Harare on Sunday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Young Miner Upbeat About Success Despite Challenges

By A Correspondent| An emerging women miner in Shamva, Mashonaland Central is has implored government through the ministry of mines and mining development to support small scale miners with a budget towards offering loans and equipment so that they can play a part towards unlocking the US$12 Billion sector revenue by 2023.

In an interview with this publication, Mwanawevhu, real name Shantel Mnangagwa says she is upbeat about the prospects of success considering that despite the challenges she is facing, she has been able to employ 400 to 500 youths at her 200 hectares mining claim in Shamva while her average production at the moment between 300 and 500 grams.

Mwanawevhu said her goal is to help eradicate poverty in Mashonaland central while also helping the country economically through unlocking mineral value.

She however said her mining business has not been smooth especially considering that she is a woman, doing it on a small scale and also as a new kid on the block.

“I am mining gold in Umfurudzi game park, I started my mining in December 2019 and what I can say is that mining is not easy, it’s a bit tough especially for us young women,” said Mwanawevhu.

“Sometimes I employ 400 to 500 youths at my mine and it makes me happy since I am trying to eradicate poverty in my area by creating employment for my fellow youths,” she added.

Mwanawevhu (at the centre) with some of her workers

Mwanawevhu is currently producing an average of 300 grams of gold per month which she supplies to Fidelity Refiners.

“The quantities of gold I have been selling to Fidelity, for the past three months, I can say an average of 300 to 500 grams per month,” she said.

Mwanawevhu confided in this publication that the secret to her relative success has been her ability to work with local leadership including traditional leaders whom she acknowledged have helped her to circumvent cultural issues associated with the trade.

“Since 2019 when I started mining in Shamva, I have been working quite well with local chiefs including Chief Munyaradzi Nyamaropa who assisted me with chivanhu chemu area.

“I also work nicely with Chief Mushowani, he gives us youths from his area to work with, I also work with the area councillor, youth leadership from the party,” added Mwanawevhu.

She added that it is her goal to take youths away from illicit drugs by ensuring that they are gainfully employed and are occupied.

An excavator at Mwanawevhu’s mine in Umfurudzi game park in Shamva

It is my goal to stop youths from taking illicit drugs such mutoriro and many other dangerous drugs which are currently wreaking havoc in the country, I have seen that it is possible and I am determined to even employ more and more youths.

“I am also worried about the menace of crime within the mining sector which has seen the emergence of mashurugwi and those mabhembas, mining in Zimbabwe should be a safe space for everyone including us women, so I am playing my part and it is my hope that more and more people who are in mining fight this menace,” she added.

As part of giving back to the community, Mwanawevhu is also assisting orphans in Shamva with school fees and uniforms.

She is looking forward to increasing her production and has currently set her sight at supplying Fidelity Gold Refiners with up to three kilograms of gold per month, a feat she said will only be possible if the government funds the ministry of mines and mining development.

“I can increase production it’s just that at the moment, we don’t have bigger equipment, we need bigger excavators, my claim is a mountainous area so we are trying to work manually sometimes hiring excavators here and there.

“I would appreciate very much if we can get assistance from the ministry of mines and mining development to loan us equipment such as excavators, dumper trucks and tipper trucks, I know if we get equipment, we will be able to increase our production,” she said.

Mwanawevhu urged other women who want to venture into mining to be strong and brave as the sector is still unattractive to women due to societal attitude with men still thinking that it is only for them only.

“Mining sector is quite difficult for us women, we have so many problems, sometimes if you manage to get a lucrative claim with any mineral be it gold, limestone, copper, you face challenges with men trying to grab your claim, men still think mining is only for them,” she said.

Chief Nyamaropa told ZimEye that they are working well with Mwanawevhu who has employed hundreds of young people from his area.

“From the time she came here, we never had a problem with her, she is helping us a lot and has taken a lot of our youths to work at her mine,” said Chief Nyamaropa.

Zanu PF Youth chairperson for Shamva, George Chamunorwa supported Chief Nyamaropa saying the bulk of villages in Shamva are benefitting from Mwanawevhu’s mining activities.

“Our youths from Magazi 1, Zvomanyanga, Mukwari, Nyamhondoro, Gato and even Chakonda are working at Mwanawevhu’s mine, what more would we want. We have been empowered because this is employment creation which is part of the new dispensation’s vision,” said Chamunorwa.

Mwanawevhu urged young people to join the mining sector and contribute towards the economic development of the country.

“I urge young people to join the mining sector, our country has plenty of mineral resources be it gold, limestone, copper and many others, lets be involved, lets not just wait for government but play our part,” she concluded.

We Are Fighting For National Pride – Mapeza

I Ditched Mnangagwa For Kasukuwere, Not Chamisa

By Farai D Hove | A propagandist who ditched ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa, has clarified saying age is now with former ZANU PF Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere not Nelson Chamisa, as earlier reported. Never Maswerasei had for several years been campaigning for Mnangagwa on social media.

He posted 3 pointers, saying:

1. I’m not joining Chamisa’s party but advocating for Saviour Kasukuwere to lead & redirect ZANU PF.

Never Maswerasei

2. I’m NOT Mnangagwa’s top aide, was never one.

3. I may have challenges with ED’s competence scale but am still with the revolutionary ZANU PF party.

Never Maswerasei announced on Tuesday that MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa will win the 2023 polls, if something is not done to the leadership in the ruling party. He did this in a series tweets sounding out his view that Chamisa will win the 2023 elections.

He said in part, Dear Zimbabwe: I am very sorry for having campaigned for & supported Cde Emmerson, Dambudzo No.1 Mnangagwa. Frankly speaking, hapana kana chinoziikanwa paye Mukaona munhu anokwira ndege kuzopemberera smile yemurungu mobva maziva kuti hapana hapana. We are on our own.

Reprimand Malaba Over Meddling In Zanu PF Political Affairs- MDC Alliance Urges Judicial Service Commission

‘Bogus’ Education Institution Under Fire For Operating Illegally

By Jane Mlambo| A Midlands based academic institution Macronet International Association is in hot soup over allegations that they are duping learners through misrepresentation as a registered institution.

ZimEye understands that the organisation is not registered with Hexco but is operating as a Trust deceiving people of various amounts of money in United States dollars. has reportedly The organisazion is owned by Edwin Ncube who is believed to hail from Zhombe in Midlands province but is domiciled in Gweru’s Mkoba suburb.

Most of those duped by the shady organisation state that it purportedly offers training courses and certificates in hotel management, tourism and catering, nurse aide courses, receptionist courses amongst others.

Once clients part with amounts varying between US$90-US$200, promised services are reportedly withheld and are instead offered what was not agreed upon.

Checks by ZimEye established that despite offering these courses, Macronet International Association is not accredited with the Higher Examinations Council (HEXCO) neither is it recognised by the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC).

Officials from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education’s Quality control department who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “Macronet International Association is not registered with them and their certificates are not recognized.”

The official said parents and guardians need be extra careful not to lose their hard earned cash to fraudulent entities who claim to offer courses which are not recognized or registered.

In Zhombe, the organisation is allegedly charging US$90 for first aid courses and then promises prospective clients with jobs after completion of the short courses.

Sources say the organisation has spread its wings to Matabeleland where it has reportedly partnered the Matebeleland Youth Association purporting to offer higher and tertiary courses.

Recently, Ncube was hauled before the courts in Bulawayo on allegations of fraud. Maureen Malandu (40) of Mpopoma and Memory Madyara (32) of Makokoba paid US$200 for ambulance technician courses at the college, but instead were taught first aid.

The court heard that Ms Malandu paid US$110 while Ms Madyara parted with US$90 after they were informed that the amount would cover items needed for the completion of the course.

However, Ncube was not asked to plead over the matter.

Macronet is still on the prowl using the same modus operandi to defraud students who seek higher education as a solution to poverty.

Some of the duped clients have since reported to the police while some have directly reported to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) where an inside source confirmed.Ncube could not be reached for comment.

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

To those that are in Gutu for funeral :

Ecclesiastes 7

2 It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
3 Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

Court Frees Beitbridge Couple Arrested For Undermining Mnangagwa

A Beitbridge couple was freed yesterday after their trial for undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa failed to start for  over a year.

Sarudzayi Jani and Remember Ncube allegedly posted a photoshopped image of the President in a nude state on WhatsApp last year.According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), Magistrate Gwazemba recently removed Jani and Ncube from remand as the State failed to put them on trial 17 months after they were arrested.

Police officers who arrested the couple claimed that they made an abusive, indecent or obscene statement about Mnangagwa. They said that may engender feelings of hostility towards him, with the knowledge that the statement is false, as revealed by some media outlets at the time.

The couple allegedly shared a nude picture of Mnangagwa wearing Zanu-PF regalia around his neck with a male organ adorned with a mask at its end on a WhatsApp group for residents in Ward 3 of Beitbridge.

Chief Inspector Kenneth Mushongahande of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, who is a member of the residents’ WhatsApp group, reported the couple to law enforcement agents, who arrested and detained them overnight at Beitbridge Urban Police Station.

Girl (8) Falls Into “Burning” Coal Dumpsite

By A Correspondent- An eight-year-old girl suffered serious burns on both legs, stomach and chest after she fell in an old coal dumpsite in Hwange on Monday.

The girl, whose name could not immediately be established, is reported to have gone to a nearby bush to relieve herself close to an old mine dump when the ground collapsed underneath her feet resulting in her falling into the dumpsite and being burnt by an underground coal fire.

CITE quoted a source as saying the girl was quickly rushed to Hwange Colliery Hospital and later transferred to Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo.

Said the source:

The incident took place yesterday at around 4 pm at a place called Kamponi, in Makwika village.

We understand that she went to the bush to relieve herself and the ground collapsed resulting in her sustaining serious burns.

Her sister came to her rescue as she acted quickly and dragged her out of the burning coal. She was quickly rushed to Hwange Colliery Hospital.

This was a very serious accident as she suffered severe burns while her clothes and shoes were left in the pit.

Hwange residents said the lack of water and poor sanitation at most communal toilets in areas under HCCL concession areas is forcing them to practice open defecation near these old unsecured mine dumps.

Greater Whange Residents Trust Coordinator, Fidelis Chima condemned the increase in such cases arguing that Colliery needed to act to avert future occurrences. He said:

Greater Whange Residents Trust condemns the increase of burnt children at dumpsites and it appears Hwange Colliery Company is not doing enough to address these issues and we will definitely approach the company, EMA and government so that they address these issues. These children are left with permanent injuries, parents distressed.

Chima said that they were advocating for mining companies and stakeholders to address such issues.

CITE reported that the child’s father, Andy Muzwiti could not be reached as he was said to be in transit to Bulawayo with his daughter while Hwange Colliery Company corporate Affairs manager, Beauty Mutombe had not responded to questions sent to her.
