Zanu PF MP Instructs Notorious MaShurugwi To Attack Party Members

A Zanu PF inter-district meeting had to be abandoned at Tongogara Growth Point on Saturday after scores of machete-wielding Mashurugwi allegedly hired by an MP became rowdy and disrupted speakers.

The Mashurugwi who came in busses sang songs in praise of Shurugwi North MP Robson Nyathi who was the provincial vice chairperson and lost in the elections held last December to Charles Ndondo.

The gang only paid attention when Nyathi spoke but booed anyone else who took to the podium. This went on from around 1pm until the meeting was stopped at 4pm.

Nyathi refuted allegations that he was behind the gang when called for a comment by The Mirror. He said these were only people who were disgruntled because he was rigged out of office.

“These are people who are not happy that I was rigged. I didn’t send them,” said Nyathi.

Central Committee Member Emmanuel Fundira expressed disgust at the behavior and said there were proper channels to be followed by members of the party if they had grievances.https://masvingomirror.com/machete-wielding-mashurugwi-disrupt-zanu-pf-meeting/- Masvingo Mirror

Key Facts About Sexual Exploitation

Tackling Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment

Sexual exploitation & abuse (SEA) of the communities we serve is a grave violation of WHO’s commitment to serve and protect the vulnerable. Sexual harassment (SH) of our workforce is a serious failure of our duty of care. This is the sentiment of WHO’s leadership, staff and her Member States. But we all know and acknowledge that more could and should be done. And done quickly. The risks of SEA have increased significantly in recent years.

WHO is increasingly operational, being called on to operate to save lives and minimize death, disease and suffering in our health programmes and emergency response operations. Our work in countries of fragility, conflict and vulnerability increase the risk of exploitation.

We work with UN agencies and NGOs to address these risks jointly, and aim to meet the standards set by WHO’s own policies and Code of ethics and professional conduct as well as meet the requirements and expectations set by the UN system and IASC partners.

WHO is scaling up its efforts to do everything in its power to prevent and protect from SEAH. Everyone – staff, consultants, suppliers, partners – has an obligation to report any suspected events that may constitute SEAH.

Cheso Ready To Unleash 12th Album

Musician Alick Macheso is set to release his 12th album on 10 June, which is his 54th birthday.

Speaking to H-Metro on Wednesday, Macheso said he wants to celebrate his birthday with his fans who have been waiting for four years for a new album. He said:

We have made the decision. The fans have been waiting for four years now.

The album will be out on June 10, which is my birthday.

It is always important to celebrate the gift of life and I want to celebrate with the album.

Macheso’s manager Tich Makahamadze said they have started working on the logistics to ensure a successful event. Said Makahamadze:

The album is coming out on June 10 on his birthday. Like what mudhara (the boss) has said, we have made a decision.

Obviously, the wish is to have a big event where he would be able to meet fans since it coincides with his birthday.

But, we are not going to change even if new COVID-19 measures are to come up restricting gatherings. That then means we will have to launch it virtually.

Macheso has reunited with Noel Nyazanda and Zakaria Zacharia for the first time in 12 years as they worked together on the yet-to-be-named album.

Defending The Vote: Deborah Harry

By Deborah Harry | The challenge has always been to make every vote count in Zimbabwe – vote rigging needs addressing

First of all, congratulations to the REAL opposition in Zimbabwe and the rebrand to Citizens Coalition for Change which was desperately needed. As for the fake opposition led by that man and his small group of followers that wouldn’t fill a community hall, it’s time that we stop giving them the publicity they want by ignoring them everywhere especially on social media. We need to move on to more important things.

The main issues at hand are the preparations for the 2023. A lot of effort has been rightly put towards encouraging people to register to vote. There is also the other side of the coin that needs to be addressed which is about making sure that each vote will be counted. As an opposition we should be able to multitask between encouraging people to register to vote and putting in place a plan to make each vote count.

Both these things have to be done because one is pointless without the other one. Encouraging people to register to vote when the vote is rigged is as a path we need to avoid taking. We saw what happened in the previous elections. Voter turnout has never been a problem in Zimbabwe, most people want Zanu to go and no one with a clear heard would want ED to run their stall at a flea market let alone run a country. It’s the rigging that keeps Zanu in power and that needs to be addressed for any vote to count.

People will recognise that making each vote count is a much more challenging goal compared to a campaign to make people register to vote. Making each vote count requires that every poll station where votes are casted and counted is being monitored for voter fraud. Not only that, but in the event that voter fraud is identified, it needs to be captured on camera and publicised for the entire world to see. The tallying of all national votes by the ZEC also needs to be monitored closely and any shenanigans need to be captured on camera and publicised to the world. All these things need talent, manpower, dedication, organisation and definitely, funding.

This is the level of hard work that is needed to make every vote count. Without any safeguards against vote rigging, it’s impossible for the CCC to get anything from the 2023 election.

Mnangagwa Gives In To Dollarisation

By- The Government through the Primary and Secondary Education Ministery has admitted that parents could now pay school fees in United States Dollars.

Minister in charge of education,Evelyn Ndlovu, said while parents and guardians with foreign currency who can afford to pay fees in United States dollars are allowed to do so, no school is permitted to reject schools fees payments in Zimbabwe dollars.

This comes as schools in Manicaland Province have been pestering the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education seeking approval to charge for levies in foreign currency.

Some schools are reportedly asking parents to pay school fees in local currency but pegged to the US Dollar using the parallel market rate.

But speaking in an interview with The Manica Post at Mavhudzi High School on Thursday during a tour of Makoni schools to check their preparedness to reopen in light of the COOVID-19 pandemic, Ndlovu said pushing parents to source forex from the black market is unacceptable. She said:

We will not accept a situation where schools will force parents to pay fees in foreign currency. It is unacceptable because we have a local currency.

In other words, they will be fighting and sabotaging the local currency. Every country has its own currency.

How are we going to protect our currency if we are continuously charging school fees in foreign currency?

Most parents have no source of foreign currency so you are pushing them to go to the black market. We do not accept that. Those who do not have forex also need to send their children to school.

Those with foreign currency who can afford to pay fees in USD are allowed to do so as we have a multi-currency system but then no school should prohibit parents from paying in local currency.

The 2022 first term is set to commence next Monday, with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education saying all systems go.

However, teachers’ unions such as the Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association (ZIMTA) and the Progressive Teachers Union Zimbabwe (PTUZ) both recently said teachers are financially incapacitated and cannot resume their normal duties.

The unions want the Government to pay teachers salaries in US dollars, with the lowest-paid teacher taking home at least US$600.

Zanu PF Thugs Seize CCC Car

By- Zanu PF activists in Kwekwe have reportedly seized a branded Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) vehicle belonging to the party’s candidate for Kwekwe Central in the 26 March by-elections, Judith Tobaiwa.

In a statement, CCC said Tobaiwa’s car was forcibly taken to the ZANU PF district office where ruling party activists removed posters that were stuck on the vehicle.

CCC activists who were in the vehicle were reportedly ordered to sit on the floor while the car was being debranded. CCC said in a statement:

Kwekwe Central CCC candidate Judith Tobaiwa’s car has been forcibly and unlawfully taken to the ZANU PF district office.
ZANU PF thugs are debranding it, removing posters and forcing those who were in the car to sit on the floor. This election violence must stop!

This comes after police in Bulawayo recently summoned and questioned several CCC provincial leaders regarding the party’s official by-election campaign launch in the city which was set for this Thursday.
The party’s organising secretary and chairperson for Bulawayo province Hellen Mpofu and James Sithole, respectively, were on Wednesday summoned by the police and grilled over the launch.

Police Disrupt Chamisa Bulawayo Voter Reg Programme

By-Police in Bulawayo Thursday reportedly disrupted a voter registration campaign exercise conducted by Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party supporters.

Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said police claimed that the exercise, which was being carried out at the party offices, was not sanctioned.

“It is shameful behaviour which we are experiencing under the police. We started the meeting at 9am and the police dispersed us. Some of our members were made to answer questions as to why we were meeting and they dispersed us,” Chirowodza said.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said he was unaware of the incident.
“I have not received such a report,’’ Ncube said.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is conducting a countrywide voter registration blitz in preparation for next year’s harmonised elections, Zec says it is targeting one million new votes.

Cop Arrested For Beating Up And Kidnapping A “Drunkard”

By- A police constable has been arrested and charged for beating up and detaining a “drunkard”.

Charles Makumbo (32) of Nyazura Police Station pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Rusape magistrate, Mr Obedience Matare early this week.
Mr Matare was expected to sentence him yesterday (Thursday).
Mr Leonard Chigadza of Chigadza and Associates represented Makumbo, while Mr Justice Masanganise prosecuted.
It is alleged that Makumbo assaulted Tafadzwa Dzemunye as he was not happy with his presence at the bottle store.
“On October 21 and at Muranda Bottle Store in Nyazura, Makumbo instructed Dzemunye to leave the bottle store. A misunderstanding arose between the two and Makumbo pushed the complainant to the ground. Dzemunye became unconscious.
“When he regained consciousness he could not locate his cellphone and went on to confront Makumbo over the issue. This did not go down well with Makumbo who further pushed the complainant to the window. Dzimunye hit and shattered the window. Makumbo attacked Dzemunye with fists and open hands several times on the face and head butted him once on the forehead,” said Mr Masanganise.
It is alleged that Makumbo strangled Dzemunye’s neck and trampled on his chest several times.
He allegedly took Dzemunye to Nyazura Police Station where he further assaulted him before detaining him in holding cells.
“To cover up for his offence, Makumbo booked Dzemunye under a pseudonym, Tawanda Chiwenga. He pressed charges of malicious damage to property and disorderly conduct against him. Dzimunye was later released,” said Mr Masanganise. Manica Post

Local Council Runs Bothels To Supplement Revenue

By- Zvishavane town Council is allegedly running brothels.

According to Masvingo Mirror, this came out Wednesday during a tour by Minister of State for Midlands Larry Mavima in the ghost town.

Quizzed by Mavima, council officials said that the brothel raised funds as 80% of residents were not paying rates.

He described Zvishavane council as shameful as the worst run local authority in the Midlands Province. Three Zvishavane top managers including town secretary Tinoda Mukutu are currently on suspension on corruption charges.
As he toured the town house, he came to the council guest house and was shown one end which was being used by residents who lost their houses during heavy storms in 2020.
He exploded when he went to the other side and noticed that council accommodated sex workers who pay US$30 a day to the local authority’s security department. The sex workers brought in men for service throughout the day and night.
Mavima ordered that the sex workers be removed with immediate effect.
In Mandava he was shocked to see that there are 500 people who are sharing public toilets and bathrooms.
“This visit is depressing, Zvishavane has the worst management for any local authority. It is not only embarrassing but shameful and unacceptable that a local authority can resort to brothels as a way of fundraising. That brothel should be closed immediately “, he said. Masvingo Mirror

Boyfriend Leaks Married Gweru Woman Nudes

By- A married Gweru woman feels betrayed and abused by her lover and her sister-in-law for posting her nude photographs on social media. In Zimbabwe, it is illegal to produce, possess or distribute pornographic material.

Jassina Manyumbu, 36, who is married to Gondobwe Gondobwe, 44, confirmed her adulterous affair with someone only identified as Freedom, who is believed to be a cross border truck driver.

Manyumbu told H-Metro she had a misunderstanding with Freedom, when she visited him in South Africa over a miscarriage she suffered.

Freedom accused her of aborting the pregnancy and he posted their nude photographs to her in-laws. She feels abused and betrayed by Freedom and her sister-in-law, Tamary Gondobwe, for forwarding the nude photographs to her family members.
“We had an issue with my husband since he was cheating on me and that led me to retaliate by dating Freedom,” said Manyumbu.
“Freedom was responsible for the pregnancy and I later suffered a miscarriage.
“He became furious with me and accused me of aborting the pregnancy and that forced him to post our nude photographs to my in-laws.
“Tete Tamary vakazotumirawo maphotos iwayo kumurume wangu nekuhanzvadzi yangu saka handizive kuti mutemo unobvumidzawo here kutumira maphotos akadaro pasocial media?
“I feel betrayed and abused by both Freedom and Aunt Tamary,” said Manyumbu.
She told H-Metro she decided to visit her parents in Chivi, Masvingo after returning from South Africa, after the nude photographs reached her husband.
“I have found peace with my husband but Aunt Tamary continues posting my nude photographs to wreck my marriage.
“Our faith calls us to confess our sins to each other and I did that with my husband over the phone and he accepted my apology.
“I will be returning to my house this week in Gweru since my husband accepted me back following that issue,” she said.
Tamary told H-Metro Manyumbu lied to her husband that she received an invite from one of her relatives based in South Africa, when she was visiting Freedom.
“She has been cheating for some time and her husband was yet to find evidence but this time zvakamutsana nechikomba chake chikatumira mifananidzo yavo tisina kuzvitsvaga.
“She must blame her lover for posting the nude photographs to us and blame herself for committing adultery.
“She left the country in November last year, claiming she had been called by her married daughter, unaware that she was intending to engage in sinful acts,” said Tamary.
Gondobwe threatened to lodge a police report against Tamary and Freedom over posting his wife’s nude photographs on social media.
“What happened is that my wife went to SA and committed adultery with a certain man,” said Gondobwe.
“That man sent the pictures of him, with my wife, to my sister.
“My sister sent them to me and l told her that l will solve the issue peacefully.
“I wanted to cancel marriage then go to surrender her to her parents but my sister is busy circulating these pictures.
“I don’t want to sue her but l want you to give her a strong warning over posting these nude photographs,” said Gondobwe.

Marry Chiwenga Loses Divorce Case

By-The High Court has ruled that Marry Chiwenga is no longer married to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

According to the judgement seen by state media, the marriage between President unregistered customary union between Chiwenga and Mary Mubaiwa ceased to exist more than two years ago when she was given a US$100 divorce token.

However, ancillary matters, which include the financial affairs of maintenance and property division and the custody of children have to still be settled in civil suits which can only be heard when Mubaiwa is able to pursue these.
The marriage between the two was the unregistered customary law union, which was terminated on November 24, 2019 after Mubaiwa was given “gupuro”, a divorce token in the Shona culture, and that was adequate to end the union under customary law and custom.

The ruling yesterday that the marriage ceased to exist at that moment came after Vice President Chiwenga, through his lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri instructed by Mr Wilson Manase of Manase and Manase, filed an urgent chamber application for an order terminating the customary union between him and Mubaiwa.
Justice Owen Tagu granted the order, but said he confined himself only to the declaration sought in the chamber application, ruling that other ancillary issues ventilated in the main civil case would be decided at the main hearing which is to be heard when Mubaiwa is able to pursue these civil matters.
During the hearing, the judge was confronted with competing arguments, one being for the grant of a declaratory order that the customary union ended on November 24, 2019 and another opposing the relief sought.
Vice President Chiwenga, through his lawyers, argued he gave Mubaiwa a divorce token, thereby terminating the union between them in terms of the African law and custom.

On the other hand, Mubaiwa said the gupuro was given to her in United States currency which she refused to accept as that currency could no longer be lawfully transacted in Zimbabwe.
However, Mubaiwa could not say that the customary union had not ended. On the contrary, she accepted that it had terminated, but blamed her ex-husband for its demise.
After a careful analysis of the submission by both parties’ counsel, Justice Tagu said it was no longer a live issue whether the customary union had ended and Mubaiwa in her own pleadings attested to this. Both parties agree that the union had ended or came to a demise.
Justice Tagu said that Mubaiwa’s concern was one of prejudice that she perceived would accrue to her if the termination of the union was dealt with separately from the ancillary issues.
“She failed to disprove that the union had ended,” said the judge when he declared that “the customary union between the parties had ceased to subsist”.
The ancillary issues relating to custody, maintenance and the property rights of the parties had been stood down for determination at the civil hearings, which would be set down by Mubaiwa as and when she is able to pursue the matter.

On the maintenance issue for either Mubaiwa or children, the court ruled that the considerations were well established in the country’s laws while the issue of custody cannot present the court with an insurmountable difficulty, as the best interests of the children were of paramount consideration.
In the end, the judge found no cogent reasons were given for opposing the order sought.
In fact, the judge, noted that Vice President Chiwenga would suffer prejudice if the determination of the status of the customary union was held back simply to suit Mubaiwa’s convenience.
Justice Tagu also noted that the civil hearings have not started at Mubaiwa’s instance and it was not clear when they occur, ruling the delay would prejudice Vice President Chiwenga.
To this end, the judge saw nothing that could prevent him from granting the order sought.
Mubaiwa, who was being represented by Ms Beatrice Mtetwa, had opposed the application insisting that her customary marriage was terminated and denied she was given the divorce token.
Mr Manase welcomed the court’s ruling saying no marriage existed between the parties as from November 2019 and that this allowed Ms Mubaiwa to pursue the ancillary matters in her own time without using her health as an excuse.

Susan Mutami Opens Up On SB Moyo Love Relationship

By- Controversial Australian-based Zimbabwean philanthropist Susan Mutami said that she had a boy child with the late Foreign Affairs Minister Sibusiso Busi Moyo.

Mutami said this on Twitter, where she also insisted that Norton MP Temba Mliswa sired her twins.

Mutami also said before SB died, he told her that there were some people who were after his life.

She said Moyo told her that if the unnamed people got him, she should “get a flight back home” with the little boy as the assailants will also be after her.

In his last days on earth SB Moyo sent someone to Avondale where I was staying and was panicking and said there are some people who are after me, if they come for me, they will definitely come for u and the little boy so I need u to get a flight back home.

Varikuda kuita zvavakaita pana Chiwenga ne mukadzi wake kwandiri (they want to do to me what they did to Chiwenga and his wife) and I need u to co-operate with me my sweetheart but if I don’t make it, u know what to do. That was the last conversation that I ever had with the late minister. RIP Soldier.

Ngarivhume Fumes Over Postponement Of Trial

By Own Correspondent |Jacob Ngarivhume is not happy with the further postponement of his trial.

Ngarivhume is the facilitator of the July 31 Movement.

According to a statement released by Ngarivhume’s media team, trial was postponed to February 14.

Read part of the statement below:
“We are back again at court for another circus at the kangaroo Harare Magistrates Court. Last month the state undertook to commence trial on this day. We wait for this to happen. The State counsel promised to furnish the defence with state papers. But as usual there is delay in the proceedings. The court is yet to sit..

The State brews another shocker. They propose another postponement citing some flimsy administrative challenges. The state failed to have charges amended by the arresting police station. The police said it’s the prosecution who should amend the charges. The defence disagrees and gives notice to apply for refusal to further remand.

The application will be lodged by end of day 3rd of Feb. Matter postponed to 14 Feb at 1415 hrs for ruling on this application.

Chickens Coming Home To Roost For Self Exiled Businessman Ken Sharpe, Aide

By A Correspondent| Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko will on 22 February preside over the trial of Pokugara Properties and its Managing Director Michael John Van Blerk who are facing charges of malicious damage to property.

This follows countless false starts to the trial as both Pokugara and Van Blerk made endless excuses to stall trial. At one point, Van Blerk claimed to have fallen off a horse while at another instance he produced a report that he was suffering from catatonic seizure but was declared fit to stand trial by government doctors at the request of the state.

On Thursday, Van Blerk and Pokugara’s lawyer Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara missed court while attending to another matter at the High Court, forcing Magistrate Mateko to postpone the matter to 22 February for commencement of trial.

Pokugara Properties owner Sharpe and his Managing Director, Michael John Van Blerk

The trial is expected to expose Sharpe’s fraudulent pullout of a joint venture agreement with Harare businessman George Katsimberis who has been seeking justice for the prejudice he suffered at the hands of the exiled businessman.

The State led by Zivanai Macharaga from the Special Anti-Corruption Unit alleges that sometime between July 2018 and October 2018, at lot 9 of 21 on consolidated number 19559 of 19828 on Harare Township corner Teviotdale and Whitwell in Borrowdale, Mandla Marlone Ndebele, Isaiah Zvenyika Chawatama, Samuel Nyabezi and Lasten Taonezvi destroyed a show house constructed by Harare business George Katsimberis without a court order.

The accused allegedly acted in common purpose and demolished Katsimberis’ Show house which had an approved plan without advising the complainant. They allege that Katsimberis constructed the show house without approved architectural plans despite evidence that the plans were approved at City of Harare’s Cleveland house with all the necessary payments effected.

The show house in question was constructed by Katsimberis under a botched joint venture with Pokugara proprietor, Kenneth Sharpe, who is said to have controversially pulled out from the deal.

Pokugara Properties and  its managing director Michael John Van Blerk are also facing perjury charges after deposing an affidavit under case HC8943/18 in which they are alleged to have lied that the show house was built without approved building plans from the City of Harare.

Khupe’s Recall Procedure Questioned

A legal expert yesterday questioned the recall of embattled MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe through a letter delivered by a postal courier service provider, saying the method used was unprecedented and seemed to favour one political party faction over another.

Parliamentary recalls are often announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda or by the Senate president Mabel Chinomona when Parliament is in session.

Khupe (Proportional Representation Senator) told journalists that she received the letter of her recall from Parliament alongside her long-time ally Nomvula Mguni (PR) on January 26.

She said she had written to the United Nations protesting her alleged victimisation by the Executive and Legislature.

Khupe was suspended by MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora last month before she, in turn, announced that the latter had fired himself from the party after claiming leadership of the MDC Alliance.

Section 129(1)(k) of the Constitution, which talks about recalls of MPs, stipulates that: “The seat of a Member of Parliament becomes vacant if the member (MP) has ceased to belong to a political party of which he or she was a member when elected to Parliament and the political party concerned, by written notice to the Speaker or the Senate president, as the case may be, had declared that member has ceased to belong to it.”

Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda yesterday declined to comment on Khupe’s issue.

“I was not at her Press conference and I have no comment,” Chokuda curtly said.

Legal expert Jeremiah Bamu said Parliament seemed to be giving one faction power over the other.

“These are clearly two factions of the same party that are fighting over the recall provisions of the Constitution.  Parliament should not interest itself in what happens in political parties. It is not there to give one faction of a party leverage over the other. But regrettably, this is what Parliament seems to be doing,” he said.

“Parliament seems to be furthering the interests of one faction of a political party over the other as opposed to accepting notices from the political party itself. What Parliament ought to say is that unless there is adjudication by the courts as to which one is the legitimate political party, their hands will be tied and therefore cannot accept notice of recall from either of the factions.

“When Parliament resumes sitting, Khupe should attend, but she must first seek to have the communication that she received from the Speaker of the National Assembly (Mudenda) set aside by the  courts on the basis that the Speaker received  notification from a faction of a political party.”

Bamu said the MDC-T had split into two, so one faction could not recall the other faction.

Khupe said her recall was unprocedural.

“My understanding of parliamentary operations is that the Speaker derives his powers from the mace when he is sitting on his chair in the National Assembly and in the presence of sitting MPs because the mace is the symbol of authority of the House, and the Speaker. Without the mace, the House cannot sit and pass laws,” Khupe said.

Gvt Announces New Measures As Analysts Predict Zim Dollar’s Second Death

In a public advisory note issued on Friday, 04 February 2022, Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube said that all duties and taxes on the importation of designated motor vehicles are now payable in Zimbabwe dollars again up to a limit of 50% of duties and taxes payable.

Below is Ncube’s statement:

PUBLIC ADVISORY NOTE ON MEASURES BEING INSTITUTED BY GOVERNMENT TO ENHANCE THE DOMESTIC USE OF THE ZIMBABWE DOLLAR

BACKGROUND

1. Government, through various agencies is presently seized with instituting various measures to enhance the formal use of the domestic currency.

2. These measures are also aimed at stemming illegal trade in foreign currency and its associated twin; that of parallel market benchmarking or indexation of prices of goods and services at parallel market exchange rates.

3. The continuation of these practices, which have been identified as significant contributors to price instability in the economy and are imposing downside risks to macro-economic stability, and the erosion of domestic and international competitiveness.

4. Over the past 40 months, the government has instituted numerous initiatives to bring macro-economic stability. These include fiscal consolidation which has resulted in balanced budget performance and the elimination of destabilising fiscal deficits despite major economic shocks such as the 2019-20 droughts, cyclone Idai and the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

5. Furthermore, the restoration of domestic and export competitiveness through the reintroduction of the Zimbabwe dollar, has seen rapid gains being made in stabilising the current account, which has also been boosted by increased international remittances, enhanced export performance and notable import substitution effects.

6. Consistent implementation of the monetary targeting framework by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as well as close policy coordination between fiscal and monetary authorities have been key policy milestones towards achieving price stability.

7. These developments have also seen the rapid growth of privately-held foreign currency reserves from levels of around US$300 million in 2018, to over US$2 billion currently held in Zimbabwean banks. Official reserves have also increased from less than US$100 million to over US$1.2 billion currently, which includes, the US$960 million equivalent in SDRS recently availed by the IMF to Zimbabwe.

8. In the intervening period, the government has also improved access to foreign currency by all bona fide businesses and individuals through the auction system.

9. Whilst the foreign currency auction system has provided a platform for the continuous and sustainable use of local currency by individuals and corporations it is now imperative to expand the areas in which the Zimbabwe Dollar should be used in the economy and further provide incentives for its use.

10. In this regard, the public is advised that the following measures now apply with immediate effect:

a. All mining royalties are now payable in Zimbabwe Dollars up to a limit of 50% of royalties due.

b. All duties and taxes on the importation of designated motor vehicles are now payable in Zimbabwe dollars again up to a limit of 50% of duties and taxes payable.

C. All domestic taxes due from exporters on their export receipts are now payable in both foreign and local currency in direct proportion to the approved export retention levels. As an example, an exporter who receives foreign currency of say USD1 000.00 at a 40% surrender ratio (60% retention) will pay taxes on the 40% in Zimbabwe dollars and the 60% in foreign currency.

These measures reflect Government’s commitment to promote the wider use of the Zimbabwe Dollar and to continuously strengthen the economy so as to build long-lasting macro-economic stability.

This advisory note was issued in the public interest.

Minister Bumps Into Brothel Run By Zvishavane Council

ZVISHAVANE – The Minister of State for Midlands Larry Mavima expressed shock during his business tour of Zvishavane on Wednesday when he bumped into a brothel that is being run by Zvishavane Town Council.

Quizzed by Mavima council officials said that the brothel was a way of raising funds as 80% of residents were not paying rates. The Mirror was part of the tour.

Voter Apathy Mars Voter Registration Blitz

B y A Correspondent- The ongoing biometric voter registration (BVR) blitz has been marred by apathy with several potential registrants claiming that they are being turned away due to lack of documentation.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has set up 2 700 registration centres under the current blitz running from last week until February 28, and April 10 to 30.

Zec chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana told NewsDay that the low turnout was disturbing.

“In terms of the turn out, it was not that fruitful, but moving forward, we hope people will start turning up to register to vote. It’s just that I do not have the figures with me right now, but all I know is there was very low turnout on the first day,” he said.

“We are trying to encourage people to go and register to vote because decentralised centres have been put in place for them to register to vote.”

A survey by NewsDay revealed that several voter registration centres in the country were deserted, while potential voters, mostly the youth, claimed that they were being turned away over lack of documents such as a national identity card or valid passport and proof of residence.

The voter registration blitz was initially scheduled for December last year, but was postponed following concerns that the majority of potential voters did not have identity documents.

Election Resource Centre legal and advocacy officer Takunda Tsunga said: “There was insufficient information provided on the location of the mobile BVR kits and the blitz itself.

“There has been increasing apathy brought about by disputed 2018 elections and the resultant lack of implementation of electoral reforms necessary to build public confidence in electoral processes which will increase participation.

“The failure to implement reforms is impacting participation levels.”

Zimbabwe Election Support Network programmes director Ellen Dingani said they were planning to deploy observers to check for consistency in the application of voter registration procedures, the opening and closing times, turnout of potential registrants, voter education and any challenges that citizens were facing.

Regions such as Matabeleland reportedly have the least number of registered voters and might lose some constituencies in the forthcoming delimitation exercise.

Lawyer Questions Dr Khupe’s Recall

By A Correspondent- A legal expert yesterday questioned the recall of embattled MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe through a letter delivered by a postal courier service provider, saying the method used was unprecedented and seemed to favour one political party faction over another.

Zanu PF Aspiring MP Kneels Begging For Votes

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF candidate for the Chitungwiza St Mary’s Parliamentary seat, Nobert Jinkika had to kneel before voters last weekend as he begged for their support during the forthcoming March 26 by-elections.

Jinjika’s is up against main rival Unganai Tarusenga of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate and other candidates from different political parties in a race to reclaim the seat which has been in the hands of opposition 2018.

“The reason why we are here is to liberate St Mary’s; we cannot continue to survive under the slavery of the opposition when we live in a liberated Zimbabwe.

“I am kneeling down as I beg for your support to vote for the ruling Zanu-PF party on March 26,” he begged the supporters.

Tarusenga was among more than 40 MDC Alliance MPs that were recalled in 2019 by the Mwonzora led MDC-T.

Jinjika claimed that his proximity to President Emmerson Mnangagwa will ensure that all problems affecting the people of Chitungwiza are addressed.

“We have no representatives that can directly address the needs of the people; the opposition does not have a direct link to the President,” he said.

Sikhala Has Case To Answer. Court Rules

By A Correspondent- The High Court yesterday dismissed Citizens Coalition for Change deputy chairperson Job Sikhala’s application for removal from remand in a case where he is accused of public incitement.

Sikhala faces charges of incitement to cause public  violence.

In his application, Sikhala had accused magistrate Lazini Ncube of grossly erring by placing him on remand.

But High Court judge Justice David Mangota said Sikhala had a case to answer

“He was properly placed on remand. He should wait for his trial as a result of which he would raise the defence which he sought to rely upon when he challenged his placement on remand. His application for review is dismissed with costs,” Justice Mangota ruled.

“In ruling as I did, I remained persuaded by the need on my part as well as on that of the parties to have the matter decided more on the merits than on a technicality.”

Court Rules That Marry Mubaiwa’s Marriage To Chiwenga Was Terminated in 2019

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is divorced from former model Mary Mubaiwa, the High Court has declared.

Justice Owen Tagu made the ruling on Thursday after Chiwenga, on November 24 last year, applied for an order declaring the customary union to have terminated.

Lawyers for the former couple made arguments before the judge last week and judgement was reserved.

Justice Tagu has found in favour of Chiwenga, ruling that the union was terminated when Chiwenga sent his emissary, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Tanzania, Rtd Major General Anselem Sanyatwe, with US$100 as a token of divorce on November 24, 2019.

Mubaiwa, through her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, told the court that she had rejected the token, known in Shona culture as ‘gupuro’, because the United States dollar was not the country’s legal tender.

Justice Tagu said despite Mubaiwa’s arguments, she also accepted that their marriage had met its “demise.” The reason for the collapse of the marriage, which Mubaiwa blamed on Chiwenga, is “irrelevant”, the judge said.

“The application is allowed with costs,” Tagu ruled. “It is declared that by the time proceedings in HC 9837/19 were instituted, the customary union between the parties had ceased to subsist.

“The ancillary issues relating to custody, maintenance and property rights of the parties are stood down for determination at trial, which shall be set down by the defendant as and when she is able to prosecute the matter.”

Chiwenga, through his lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri, told the High Court that it was taking too long for the divorce hearing to go to trial because of Mubaiwa’s poor health. He asked the court to leave other matters like division of assets and child custody for when Mubaiwa’s health has improved, and to make a determination on the narrow point of whether their marriage was terminated.

Mubaiwa opposed the application, arguing that determining the matter separately this would adversely affect her rights and those of their three children.

The judge said that the trial had not started because of Mubaiwa’s poor health “is public knowledge” and it is “not clear when the trial will take place” and any delays “would inevitably result in prejudice to Chiwenga.”

Justice Tagu added: “Since it is not necessary to prove which spouse was at fault in causing the break-up of the union, there is no link between distribution of the assets and dissolution of the union. Mubaiwa has not provided a reason for arguing that the issues should not be separated.

“The issue of (child) custody does not present any court with insurmountable difficulty as the best interests of the children are the paramount consideration. No cogent basis has been given for opposing the relief sought. In fact Chiwenga would suffer prejudice if the determination of the status of the customary union was held back simply to suit Mubaiwa’s convenience.”

Chiwenga entered a customary union with Mubaiwa in 2012 after he divorced his wife, Jocelyn, and she left her footballer husband Shingi Kawondera.

Meanwhile, a Harare magistrate is expected to deliver judgement on Friday in Mubaiwa’s trial in which she was accused of fraudulently trying to upgrade the customary union to a civil marriage without Chiwenga’s knowledge.

Chiwenga testified as a witness after controversially asking the court to clear the public gallery.

Teachers Threaten Online Demo

By A Correspondent- Teachers unions yesterday threatened to conduct an online demonstration when schools open on February 7 citing incapacitation. Schools are set to open next Monday for the first term.

In a statement, the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Union said: “This protest will take place online and for teachers, it will be physical in the aspect of not attending their workstations due to Incapacitation.”

The union said the demonstration would be taken to the doors of their “oppressors masquerading as their employers”, who have all along been ignoring their worsening situation and working conditions.

“This protest is not an action against education, but a direct pledge and point of action to bring back sanity. We encourage people to go online showing messages of dissatisfaction and demands of change by tagging the responsible authorities so that the message reaches their ears.”

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou said: “It is dangerous to underestimate the power of hungry and angry teachers. Government insensitivity to the plight of starving teachers and loss of touch with reality in schools is shocking and buffling.”

On Tuesday, Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said government was unfazed by the teachers’ threats, adding that it was now the norm whenever physical classes resume.

Teachers are demanding a minimum salary equivalent to US$540 which they were getting in 2018.-newsday

Budiriro Man Hauled To Court Over Fraud

By A Correspondent- A-Budiriro man has been arraigned before the courts facing fraud allegations of up to US$20 000 over a botched residential stand deal.

The accused, Godwin Matombo today appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda.  The State opposed bail due to overwhelming evidence presented by investigating police officers on the case.

It is alleged that sometime in January 2020, Matombo and his accomplice, Abigail Mutimutema who is still at large and was employed at Tussle Hill Property placed an advert on her Facebook account advertising residential stands which were for sale in Greendale, Harare.

The complainant in the matter saw the advert and developed interest to purchase the stands, and contacted Mutimutema who confirmed that they were available and cost US$45 000 each.

On the same date, the complainant went to survey the stands in the company of the accused, and chose stand number 804 Greendale, Harare which measured 2600 square metres.

The complainant was informed that the stand belonged to the accused, Matombo.

The complainant negotiated with Mutimutema for a price reduction for the stand, and they agreed on US$32 000 as the final price.

On January 24, 2020,  the complainant made a deposit of US$20 000 for the stand to the accused persons at Mutimutema’s office where she was told that she would be furnished with an offer letter within a week while the balance of US$12 000-00 would be paid within six  months after receipt of the offer letter.

The offer letter was never delivered, and the complainant then requested for a refund from the pair, who failed to do so.

The matter was reported to the police and the total value prejudiced was US$20 000, and nothing was recovered.-newsday

Ziyambi Ziyambi Under Spotlight Over Bill

By A Correspondent- Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has refused to gazette a Bill meant to strip the Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) of regulatory powers as sought by a Harare lawyer.

Joshua Chirambwe had approached the High Court seeking an order curtailing the operations of the LSZ. Chirambwe is challenging what he called the LSZ’s dual role of being a regulator and demanding membership fees from its members.

He sought a declaratory relief setting aside sections 58, 64 and 65(1) to (5) of the Legal Practitioners Act as invalid and in violation of the Constitution.

In his application, Chirambwe wanted Ziyambi to repeal the Legal Practitioners Act (Chapter 27:07) and enact in its place a law providing for a regulator of legal practice separate from the lawyers’ association.

In his opposing affidavit, Ziyambi said he had no constitutional obligation to introduce the Bill.

“I have no constitutional obligation to introduce a Bill as is sought by the applicant and consequently this honourable court cannot, therefore, grant the order sought in circumstances where no duty exists or is imposed on me,” Ziyambi said.

“As a member of the Cabinet of Zimbabwe, it is the responsibility of such a Cabinet to initiate and prepare, if it so wishes, a Bill of the nature sought by the applicant. In the event that the Cabinet does not initiate and prepare such a Bill, it is the Cabinet which will resolve that I present the same in Parliament as part of the normal duties of my portfolio in Cabinet, and in terms of the assignment of the administration of the Act in question upon me by the President.”

But Ziyambi said Chirambwe’s argument that there was conflict of interest in LSZ carrying out both regulatory functions and member representation has some merit.

He said: “I find that applicant’s cause of action is essentially that there is a conflict of interest in second respondent carrying out both regulatory function and the functions of member representation which are akin to those of a trade union. I take the view that there is some merit in such a cause of action and in the averments applicant sets out in this regard in his paragraphs.”

Chirambwe cited Ziyambi, LSZ and Attorney-General Prince Machaya as the first to third respondent.

SA Withdraws Waiver For Students

By A Correspondent- Zimbabweans students in neighbouring South Africa have suffered a major blow after Pretoria withdrew a waiver allowing them to apply for permanent residence permits.

Foreign students studying in areas of critical skills could apply for permanent residence before attaining five years post-qualification experience, or without submitting testimonials from employers.

But South African Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi in a latest circular withdrew the blanket waiver which was granted on April 21, 2016.

In a January 31 Immigration Directive No 2 of 2022, Motsoaledi said students who wished to apply for permanent residence permits, had to comply with the country’s immigration laws.

“By virtue of the power vested in me by section 31(2) of the Immigration Act, 2002, Act No 13 of 2002, I hereby withdraw the blanket waiver which was granted  on April 21, 2016, which waiver allowed foreign graduates at South African tertiary institution that studied towards degrees in the area of critical skills, to apply for a permanent residence permit without the need of first acquiring five years post-qualification experience or the need to submit testimonials from employees,”  the directive read.

This came after Pretoria stopped renewing the Zimbabwean Special Permits (ZEPs) that expired in December last year, and opted to give the permit holders a year to move to other visa regimes or face deportation.

ZEP was introduced in 2009 by then Home Affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, as a temporary solution to a growing refugee crisis related to Zimbabwe. There are an estimated 180 000 ZEP holders in South Africa.

In December, ZEP holders field urgent court applications to overturn the decision taken by Motsoaledi not to renew their permits. The High Court in Pretoria struck their applications off the roll of urgent matters.

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to South Africa David Hamadziripi yesterday said he would consult staff to assess the impact of Motsoaledi’s latest directive targeting foreign students.

“I have just seen the minister’s directive and it is, obviously, going to affect a lot of Zimbabweans based in South Africa.

“However, I haven’t had the opportunity to meet with my staff to assess the impact of the said directive. We will be convening a meeting with my colleagues so that we come up with an informed opinion on the latest development,” Hamadziripi said.

South African nationals are lobbying for Zimbabwean immigrants to leave that country as they accuse them of stealing their jobs. South Africa has also tightened border control measures to stop illegal immigrants from entering that country.

Analysts said the neighbouring country was putting in place stringent immigration measures to deal with internal political problems ahead of its 2024 elections.

A member of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Higher and Tertiary Education, Daniel Molokela (Citizens Coalition for  Change) said: “We must not be surprised by such measures that are being put in place to stop African immigrants into South Africa. We must actually brace for more measures of the same nature.

“We have in the past years witnessed thousands of Zimbabweans relocating to South Africa and that has created a political crisis for the neighbouring country. The measures are being put in place by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) to solve the crisis ahead of the country’s upcoming polls.”

Some political parties such as ActionSA and the Patriotic Alliance performed well in SA’s November 2021 municipal elections after riding on the anti-immigrant sentiment.

In January, there were reports of xenophobic attacks against Zimbabwean immigrants in areas such as Diepkloof, Rosebank and Turfontein.

Molokela said the influx of immigrants, especially from Zimbabwe “is a reminder to Sadc that the Zimbabwean crisis should be resolved with urgency”.

Political analyst Eiffe Ncube said the new measures against fellow countrymen in South Africa had serious negative effects on the local economy as they contributed significantly through diaspora remittances.

“Every employment policy that is implemented in South Africa, United Kingdom or any other country where Zimbabweans are based will affect our economy because the country is benefiting much from diaspora remittance,” Ncube said.

“The immigration crisis in South Africa is centred on the elections that are due in the country. The ruling party is reacting to the extreme political groupings that have become very sensitive to the continued rise of immigrants in the country. ANC is adopting populist political policies to deal with its rivals and secure victory in the upcoming elections.”

VP Chiwenga Divorced Own Wife Marry With US$100

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is divorced from former model Mary Mubaiwa, the High Court has declared.

Chiwenga, Marry Divorce Case; High Court Passes Verdict

ZEC Targets 1Million New Voters

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said that it is targeting to register at least a million new voters ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Speaking on ZBC News and Current Affairs Online programme, Inside Out, ZEC spokesperson, Joice Leticia Kazembe, said those who turned 18 after the last election should take advantage of the ongoing mobile biometric voter registration blitz and register to vote. Said Kazembe:

Of particular interest to us are the youths the ones that have turned 18 and have not had a chance to register since the number has been growing since the last election.

Even the adults that have not registered should take the opportunity and register because our target is to register one million new voters.

… We have set up an electoral code of conduct that will guide candidates on how they should behave and anyone who is aggrieved can approach the commission and those found wanting will be called in and questioned.

If there are any complaints against one person then action will be taken.

ZEC recently said it will set up more than 2 700 mobile voter registration centres across the country during the first phase of the mobile Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The first phase of the mobile Biometric Voter Registration will run from 1 February to 28 February, while the second phase will be conducted between 10 April and 30 April.

Mavaza Says Opposition Hoping To Starve People To Rebel | FULL TEXT

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | Zimbabwe is once again preparing for by elections. These are coming after the members who were representing the constituencies in question where either recalled by their party or died.

Victor Matemadanda and Dr Masimba Mavaza in studio

After the announcement of the election dates the country is once more plunged in the election mode. Citizens have asked valid questions
How do we ensure that political campaigns don’t rely on lies and misinformation? In future we should consider changing election campaign law to prohibit knowingly false political statements by campaigners, and suggests that involving voters, via a citizens’ assembly, could be one way to ensure the quality of political information improves in any referendum.
Another public vote or a general election is not going to resolve the deep political divides in Zimbabwe today. At least not yet. Not without at fresh approach to the quality of political debate during political campaigns.
Misleading and inaccurate information during political campaigns is widespread. It reduces the quality of public debate and manipulates voters. This undermines the legitimacy of results and contributes to the social divisiveness of voting.

ZEC should consider tabling a new electoral law and greater citizen participation to change the culture of lying during campaigns.
The CCC is making large numbers of misleading claims which are polluting public debate prior to elections.
The focus in electoral law is on ‘vote rather than voice’ on the fairness of the vote process, rather than on having a fair, accurate campaign. In the UK the law only prohibits statements about ‘personal character or conduct but do not say anything about lying to the citizens. The law needs to regulate the accuracy of political statements as well.
This change to the law is essential to increase trust in the democratic process, to have well-informed voters, and to hold politicians to account more effectively. In turn, this should lead to a greater number of ‘happy losers’ in elections and referendums, and reduce the type of political and social divisiveness Zimbabwe has seen since the formation of the MDC now called CCC.

CCC is putting a false narrative that the sanctions have no impact in Zimbabwe. This lie is very angering
As a country we need a Criteria that make it clear when a false/misleading statement is just part of robust political campaigning, and when it is so misleading and/or inaccurate that it should be banned. The threshold for banning misleading statements needs to be low enough to have an impact on the quality of information during campaigns, but not so low as to reduce freedom of expression during political campaigns, or drag the courts excessively in to politically subjective decision making.
Contrary to the false narrative that sanctions are not harmful, sanctions have the immediate effect of preventing the target country’s exports from being purchased overseas. This has been catastrophic depending on our economic reliance on the exported goods or services. The sanctions against Zimbabwe have resulted in political and economic instability, leading to a more economic decay. This presents a challenge to all Zimbabweans. The pain of the Zimbabwean population is ultimately endured by the citizens, who have strengthened rather than destroy the ruling government in times of crisis. A damaged country can become a breeding ground for extremism, which is a scenario that the starting country would most likely avoid. The situation in Zimbabwe now is not as the result of miss management. We do appreciate that corruption is indeed another enemy of our economy. We shall not forget that the sanctions feed the corruption.
Looking at this on the round the opposition which brought sanctions paved the ugly route for corruption.
So the campaign basing on the perceived incompetence of the government is misleading and sets the election on an unfair and uneven ground. So taking advantage of a situation which you have created against your own country is demonic and clear witchcraft.
This is an objectively verifiable claim about current, ongoing practice, not a prediction. Opposition Politicians use it regularly and deliberately throughout the campaign labelling the government corrupt and incompetent. Causality between any specific campaign slogan and voting decisions is difficult to prove, but the corruption and incompetence rhetoric claim is likely to significantly manipulate voters. It is the most remembered slogan from the campaign. For these reasons, the law should  prohibit this type of false statement. This is a misleading, well-remembered claim that is likely to distort public confidence and influence people’s voting decisions. It is also based on an inaccurate presentation of the legal and political reality at the time.
The law should prohibit statements if they are likely to deceive the voters and cause them to vote for those they would not otherwise have considered. If election campaign law followed this broader approach, the opposition will not accuse the government without proof.
ZEC should create an independent Office of Electoral Integrity to judge whether statements are false according to the new law, and to order swift retractions and public corrections during a campaign.
Personal liability is a strong incentive to stop opposition politicians using false statements during campaigns.
We should all know that sanctions are a penalty levied on another country, or on individual citizens of another country. It is an instrument of foreign policy and economic pressure that can be described as a sort of carrot-and-stick approach to dealing with international trade and politics.
A country has a number of different types of sanctions at its disposal. While some are more widely used than others, the general goal of each is to force a change in behavior.
The idea is that “the population gets angry, and will demand from its own government to do something to rectify the situation.” So sanctions are made to influence citizens to rebel, revolt or strike against their government.
Because the target nation is unable to acquire products, sanctions can raise costs for consumers and companies in the countries that issue them, resulting in economic loss through unemployment and output loss. Furthermore, the issuing nation will limit local customers’ choices of products and services, thus raising the cost of doing business for firms that must source supply overseas.

Blocking a country’s exports through an import sanction increases the possibility that the target country will experience a substantial economic burden. For example, the U.S. passed the ZIDERA bill which basically blocked the world from contracting business with Zimbabwe. If countries don’t import the target country’s products, the target economy can face industry collapse and unemployment, which can put significant political pressure on the government. This is the real situation which does nit need false promises from chamisa.

While the goals of sanctions are to force a country to alter its behavior, there is much variation as to how the sanctions are leveled and whom they target. Sanctions can target a country as a whole, as in the case of an embargo on a country’s exports They can target specific industries, such as an embargo on the sale of weapons of petroleum. In the case of Zimbabwe the sanctions targeted the owners of industries effectively affecting the whole citizens.
Sanctions can also target individuals, such as political figures or business leaders – such as the aforementioned. E.U. and U.S. sanctions on Zimbabwe is designed to cause financial difficulties which will flow to the whole country.
The opposition has always supported the sanctions against Zimbabwe. So it is really unfair that those with weapons directed at our country are allowed to campaign. They are the architects of grief and strife yet they use our pain to campaign.

Outrage As Funeral Company Fails To Provide Hearse For Body

A Bulawayo family in mourning found no comfort at a local funeral services company, Sunset Funeral Services, after it allegedly failed to provide a hearse to carry the body of its relative who was also their policyholder to Tsholotsho,

no hearse… Family outraged

Matabeleland North province for burial.
Instead of giving a decent goodbye to their policy holder Tailours Sibanda who was a security guard at O Conolly and Company in Bulawayo, Sunset Funeral Services situated in Kelvin North Industrial area made it extremely uncomfortable after they failed to supply a vehicle to ferry his body to its final resting place in Tsholotsho.

This was after the one which they were supposed to use developed a mechanical fault.

Tailours had been a policyholder with the company’s subsidiary, Sunset Funeral Assurance for more than 10 years.

Tailours died on Friday last week (28 January 2022) aged 57 and was buried on Tuesday.

His company later came to his family’s rescue when they provided a UD 7-tonne truck to carry his body to Tsholotsho.

A devastated family member said for the sake of giving their last respects to their departed worker, O Conolly and Company management then provided a UD 7-tonne truck which they later used to go to Tsholotsho.

“Drama started when Sunset Funeral Services failed to provide the vehicle to carry Tailours’ body to Tsholotsho for burial despite the fact that he had been a policyholder with their company for over 10 years.

“This was after they failed to replace the vehicle which they were supposed to use after it developed a mechanical fault.

It was incredibly frustrating and really disrespectful,” fumed a relative who declined to be named.

Adds the relative: “Peace and comfort only returned when O Conolly and Company management offered their UD 7 Tonne truck to carry the body to Tsholotsho for burial. Just imagine what would have happened if his employer didn’t provide that truck.

Such level of immoral or unprofessional conduct should never be accepted in business circles especially to a funeral service company like Sunset Funeral Services”.

A seemingly remorseful Sunset Funeral Services director Blazio Chaka confirmed the incident saying they were going to issue a passionate apology to the family.

“It is not something which we fail to do but when the car was ready, we discovered that it had a mechanical fault which makes it impossible to go to Tsholotsho.

We tried to talk to the family so that they can wait as we fix the vehicle but some of the members refused thinking we were going to take long.

“Just imagine 30 minutes after they had left, the car had been fixed. We are, however, very sorry about what happened and what we are going to do is to write them a letter of apology,” said Chaka. -B Metro

Grade 7 Results

Grade 7 results from last year’s examinations are ready except for finalisation of a few administrative processes but the new Form Ones are likely to start school later than other classes with the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry expected to comment on the way forward today.
If the results can be released very soon then it might be possible for Form One to start school on February 14, a week after other classes which start on Monday, it was being suggested yesterday but a lot will depend on when the remaining administrative processes can be completed.

Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) spokesperson, Ms Nicky Dhlamini, said yesterday: “The results are there but there are just some final processes which need to be done before we release them. They will be out soon.”

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Mr Taungana Ndoro said Minister Ndlovu would give an update on the way forward for this year’s Form One classes today at 2pm.

Turning to the level of preparedness ahead of schools opening on Monday, Mr Ndoro said: “We are doing an assessment for schools just to ensure that everyone is following containment measures outlined by the Government and we are happy to announce that some schools have built more infrastructure in preparation for a safe opening.

“We are happy with the level of preparedness in schools and come Monday, it will be all systems in place.”

The Government is working on modalities of recruiting 10 000 teachers in a bid to alleviate shortages in schools and boost the country’s education sector.

The process is ongoing but deployment of the employed personnel will be done once schools have opened and the staffing gaps identified.

“For now, we are still waiting for the opening of schools so that we can do an assessment to inform the deployment of the new personnel,” said Mr Ndoro.

This year’s school calendar has three terms, with the first starting on Monday ending on April 7.

The second term begins on May 3, and learners will have 69 school days and a 30-day vacation, before schools open for the third term on September 5.

They will then learn for 71 days before closing.

Next year, schools are scheduled to start on January 9 for the first term. -Herald

Mausoleum Hat Wearing VP Chiwenga Says Chamisa Is Useless Vote Him Out Town

Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has described CCC leader Nelson Chamisa as a useless person who has failed to run the towns and so must be voted out.

Chiwenga equated the newly formed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to a useless infantile party.

The 2017 coup general accused the opposition of weakening the status of major cities and towns.

The Acting President was speaking at Njovo wetland in Masvingo Central where he officially launched the National Wetlands Policy and the Wetlands Management Guidelines.

Rallying Zimbabweans to continue voting the tried and tested Zanu PF party in the forthcoming March 26 municipal and parliamentary by-elections, the Acting President also took an indirect dig at CCC party leader Mr Nelson Chamisa for trying to name his new political outfit after himself.

“We (Zanu PF) are going to contest the by-election with a newly born small party, kanonzi chii zviye zita racho, Chete Chete (CCC), how can you (Mr Chamisa) say you are the only person, ndiwe munhu chete here hakuna zvakadaro,” said the Acting President.

He rapped the country’s opposition for running down the country’s once shining cities into dirty and filthy havens owing to incompetence and maladministration, while challenging voters to break with the past and reject the opposition at the polls.

The Acting President has said only Zanu PF could restore the glorious old days in most local authorities that have been rendered completely malfunctional by the opposition.

“Services in most towns and cities are now completely non-existent and even workers (council) are not paid and this is because of maladministration. Is that what you want to vote for again in the coming by-elections?

“You have heard and seen for yourself that (opposition) people are useless, so let us make sure we vote them out and Zanu PF sweeps all the wards and seats that will be contested during the by-elections.”

Chiwenga, who is also the Zanu PF second secretary said the ruling party should reclaim all the seats from the opposition and retain those it controlled.

The Acting President extorted locals to follow President Mnangagwa’s rallying call that Zimbabwe will only be built by Zimbabweans.

He strongly warned against violence ahead of and during the forthcoming polls saying peace should reign supreme in the country as Zimbabwe was peaceful.

According to the Acting President, the opposition should be ashamed for always looking out to foreigners to solve the country’s problems.

Zanu PF was aware of plots by the opposition to provoke violence in a futile attempt to draw foreign intervention.

“We want to build our country, those who think foreigners can build our country for us or want to ignite violence in the hope that there will be foreign intervention should know that such behaviour is unwelcome and not tolerated. Let us have peace ahead of March 26. We want peace so that we can thump them (opposition) like a snake,” said Acting President Chiwenga.

In Masvingo, nine wards will be up for grabs while two constituencies Mwenezi East and Chivi South will see new legislators being voted into office.

Chivi South became vacant after the expulsion of Mr Killler Zivhu from Zanu PF while a by-election in Mwenezi East was necessitated by the death of Cde Joosbi Omar. Herald

ZRP Cop Rapes Maid – Prosecutors

A police officer was arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old maid at his home at Southampton building in Bulawayo.

The incident happened on 16 January in the evening whereby Detective Inspector Ernest Tirivanhu is alleged to have raped his maid.

This allegedly happened after the suspect and his two children aged four years and eight years went to bed.

The complainant slept alone in the kitchen and after switching the lights off Tirivanhu allegedly went back to the kitchen and uncovered her while she was sleeping.

He reportedly covered her mouth with one hand and undressed her.

Tirivanhu then raped her once, it is further alleged.

After raping her, he told her not to reveal anything to his wife who was in Gwanda at that time.

She was then offered money to spend but she refused.

On another day sometime last month which the complainant did not clearly remember, Tirivanhu approached her during the night when everyone had gone to sleep and by that time the lights were still on.

He is alleged to have inserted his fingers into her privates.

She then stopped him and the accused went back to his bed.

The complainant decided to inform her neighbour who advised her to tell Tirivanhu’s wife.

When his wife returned she narrated everything to her and she accompanied her to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Bulawayo Central Police Station where she filed the report.

The accused was arrested and the complainant was sent to United Bulawayo Hospitals for medical examination.- B Metro

Police Disrupt Voter Registration of Chamisa Supporters

Police in Bulawayo yesterday reportedly disrupted a voter registration campaign exercise conducted by Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party supporters.

-Newsday

Zanu PF Rigging Can Be Stopped

Tinashe Sambiri|Team Pachedu has exposed Zanu PF’s rigging tactics in the rural areas.

According to Team Pachedu, Zanu PF steals elections through assisted voters and stuffing of ballots.

The pressure group argues that massive voter registration will stop the regime from rigging elections.

“Zanupf’s steals Elections via assisted voters and stuffing ballot papers in rural areas with no agents. We know it, ZanuPF can be beaten with a huge turnout, polling agents deployment and a clean voters roll.

Your vote matters, go register & refuse to play into their tactics

Remember this well; Zanu PF does not have the expertise to rig and never fall for that ever! Go register to vote and see how your vote will make the difference in our nation.

Mthuli Ncube Humiliated By US Embassy After Lying He’s Received USD3bln from US Govt

Air Pollution And Your Health

Overview

Climate change is impacting human lives and health in a variety of ways.

It threatens the essential ingredients of good health – clean air, safe drinking water, nutritious food supply, and safe shelter – and has the potential to undermine decades of progress in global health.

Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and heat stress alone. The direct damage costs to health is estimated to be between USD 2-4 billion per year by 2030.

Areas with weak health infrastructure – mostly in developing countries – will be the least able to cope without assistance to prepare and respond. WHO supports countries in building climate-resilient health systems and tracking national progress in protecting health from climate change.

Reducing emissions of greenhouse gases through better transport, food and energy-use choices results in improved health, particularly through reduced air pollution.

The Paris Agreement on climate change is therefore potentially the strongest health agreement of this century. WHO supports countries in assessing the health gains that would result from the implementation of the existing Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement, and the potential for larger gains from more ambitious climate action.

LEAKED- Matemadanda Reveals How Gokwe Is Printing 5 Million Automatic-Votes For Mnangagwa

PART 1- By Farai D Hove | The following is a summary of the first of several leaked audios of senior politburo member, ambassador Victor Matemadanda as he narrated how ZANU PF is rigging the elections by creating polling multiple stations in what will create 5 million automatic votes for Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Victor Matemadanda

In the below Matemadanda is briefing his constituency of Gokwe and it was recorded in November last year.

Says Matemadanda in part:

“This is not the first time that elections are being held in the Gokwe town.

“These elections began in 1980. Other people don’t know that if we start with the council in 1980 it had many councillors, 38 in number but the miracle that happened in the town is that during that time there was ZAPU and ZANU.

“Each won 18.

“Many who are running today, do not know what they’re talking about; they don’t know that the problem of the council getting into a crisis of 18 apiece, how did we solve it.

“We will just educate those who ask us.

“All those who you see jumping up and down do not know this thing; they do not know that the town is structured: in what way from the time it was North and South.

“Many do not know and many do not want to ask because they pretend like they know.

“Those who were there, they know that it was once One Constituency.

“You know it well, right now … those constituencies are now 9-in number. “

“Many who are jumping around do not know how the 9 constituencies came about. They don’t want to work with those who made it work that they are now 9 constituencies. That’s why you see right now in Gokwe, that we want 5 million votes.”- ZimEye

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Moves To FC Barcelona

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has committed to a three-and-a-half-year contract at Camp Nou after reportedly agreeing to take a significant pay-cut

The Gabon international has signed for Barcelona on a free transfer following his departure from Arsenal.

Aubameyang’s contract at Arsenal was terminated by mutual consent on Tuesday, with the 32-year-old having arrived in Spain on deadline day to thrash out terms with Barca.

A potential loan deal was explored first, but the Blaugrana were unable to match Aubameyang’s £340 000-per-week salary and so the Gunners subsequently agreed to let him go as a free agent and sign for the Liga giants on a permanent deal.

Aubameyang trained with the Barca first team ahead of the deal being concluded and the club have now announced his arrival on a three-and-a-half-year contract. A statement on Barcelona’s official website reads:

FC Barcelona and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have reached an agreement for the player to join the club after the striker terminated his contract with Arsenal FC.

The player will sign a contract until 30 June 2025 with an option to agree departure on 30 June 2023 and his buy-out clause will be set at 100 million euros.

Shortly the club will provide details of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s presentation as a first-team player.

Aubameyang initially joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record fee of £56 million ($76m) in January 2018, and went on to score 92 goals in 163 games for the north London outfit.

His final appearance for the Gunners was when he came from the bench in a 2-1 loss to Everton on December 6.

Barca fans will hope that Aubameyang can now rediscover his best form in La Liga as they chase Champions League qualification under Xavi, and he could be in line to make his debut when they take on Atletico Madrid on Sunday. Goal.com

Mliswa Warns Chiyangwa Against Spreading HIV

By-Outspoken Norton member of parliament Temba Mliswa, said the Zanu PF 2023 elections fundraising committee chairman Philip Chiyangwa, was in the habit of deliberately spreading the Human Immune Virus (HIV) to young girls.

Mliswa said this in an audio clip criticising Chiyangwa that went viral early this week.

Mliswa posted on social media saying his only intention was to tell Chiyangwa to stop his habit.

Here is Mliswa’s post:
I have been busy at the farm & returned to the news of a leaked voice note. It should be understood that the audio was between myself & Chiyangwa. It was never meant for the public & it’s being leaked is clearly aimed at tarnishing me after the interview I had with Lance Guma.
About what I said relating to HIV, the point remains that I said it to Chiyangwa telling him to stop the habit of deliberately spreading it to young girls. It was never meant to stigmatise those who are positive. I have nothing against positive people.

My mother was a nurse for many years & conscientised us about the virus. Today I actually have a foundation that assists positive people & I have relatives who have died of it. I understand that there is nothing to shame people about it.
He accused Chiyangwa of leaking the audio as a strategy to have him criticised by members of the public.

CCC Labours To Resolve Masvingo Double Fielding Dispute

By- A delegation of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Secretary-General Chalton Hwende yesterday (February 1) failed to solve the Masvingo Urban ward 4 by-election candidate impasse after conducting a meeting.

The team which comprised of Secretary for Local Government Jacob Mafume, Secretary for Rural Mobilisation and Strategy Happymore ‘Bvondo’ Chidziva, local leadership including provincial chairperson Misheck Marava, provincial secretary for elections Godfrey Madzikanda among others was on a mission to allegedly force Thokozile Muchuchuti to withdraw her candidature from ZEC after the party fielded two candidates in the same ward.

The team reportedly met at former ward five and by-election candidate Daniel Mberikunashe’s place at around 1600hours and the meeting ended around 1800hours.
Sources who spoke to TellZim News said the leadership tried to convince Muchuchuti to step down paving way for their favourite Aleck Tabe but she refused to be cowed down saying she could not step down for the second time.
“We thought they have come to do primaries and ask the loser to withdraw but instead, they simply wanted to force Muchuchuti to withdraw. They are just doing it because she is a woman and are not considering that she is the sole female candidate in the four wards up for by-elections in the constituency,” said the source.
In 2018 she won primary elections ahead of the preferred candidate Godfrey Kurauone who went on to take the ward after it was declared to be a reserve for the youth.
This time around she had an upper hand but Tabe was handpicked to contest against her and they refused to do primary elections fearing Muchuchuti’s popularity in the ward.
“Most of the top leadership preferred Tabe and wanted Muchuchuti to step down but they failed and will now present reports to the national leadership which will make a decision on the matter,” said a source.
Another source said Muchuchuti is being backed by Vice President Lynette Karenyi-Kore and former provincial chairperson James Gumbi, current provincial spokesperson Dereck Charamba and majority of the provincial main wing, women and some youths.
On the other hand Aleck Tabe has the blessing of SG Hwende, Happymore ‘Bvondo’ Chidziva, Cecelia Chimbiri and former ward four councillor Godfrey Kurauone.
“Muchuchuti has the support of vice president Kore and Gumbi among others. Gumbi has the financial muscle and is the one financing her campaign. On the other hand, Tabe has Hwende, Chimbiri, Bvondo and Kurauone in his corner that is why he is also defiant,” said the source.
Other sources said they asked her to step down promising her the provincial chairlady post.
Marava and Charamba could not be reached for comments as their mobile phones were not getting through.
Hwende was also not picking up his phone and did not respond to WhatsApp messages.
Muchuchuti however vowed not to withdraw her candidature saying she had endured enough since 2018 and the electorate and her campaign team are urging her not to succumb to the pressure.
“They promised me the provincial chairlady post because there is no one on that post. Also they said at next elections they will appoint me number one provincial councillor.
“I refused to step down because my campaign team has asked me not to withdraw. The electorate needs me so I cannot betray their trust. We have already made flyers, so we are going ahead as planned,” said Muchuchuti.
A number of ward four people who spoke to TellZim News vowed to continue supporting her saying they do not know why the top leadership is anti-women.
“Why are they always asking her to step down when she wins the primaries? They should give those powerful posts they are promising her to the people she defeated. We want her to be our councillor and nothing else,” said one of the residents.
Kurauone is the one influencing the national leadership to support Tabe and last time they also promised her the same but nothing materialised,” said one resident.
The fiasco started on January 26 when the national leadership signed both candidates’ papers for nomination and both sailed through.
It is alleged that some people aligned to Tabe attacked Muchuchuti and took her handbag which contained papers for nomination, and she is reported to have sustained some injuries.

Mai Titi Bleaches Her Own Skin | IS THIS SAFE? | PICTURES

By Showbiz Reporter | The below pictures are of the socialite Mai Titi after she had bleacher her skin. Felistas Murata has torched storm after her wedding to a US based man, Mr Tinashe Maphosa and the ZANU PF activist has taken to new levels in her engagement with the masses on social media. In the below pictures she is with musicians, Sulu and Tocky Vibes.

Storm Claims 10 Lives

By- 10 people were swept away by the hail storm that hit several parts of the country.

Tropical Depression Ana hit Zimbabwe and destroyed homes, crops, schools, and other critical infrastructure.

In Mukumbura, 10 people were swept away with the Government yet to ascertain whether they are Zimbabweans or Mozambicans.
Giving an update on rainfall-related emergencies during the National Civil Protection Committee in Harare yesterday, Department of Civil Protection director, Mr Nathan Nkomo, warned people against crossing flooded rivers.

“As for tropical depression Ana, in a way our preparations have reduced or minimised the damages to property, loss of lives except for the 10 people who drowned in Mukumbura River.
“We are yet to ascertain whether they are Zimbabweans or Mozambicans because Mukumbura River is still flooded and all the bodies were deposited on the Mozambican side,” he said.
Mr Nkomo said they have been advising people along borders not to cross flooded rivers, but the 10 people who lost their lives, could have been part of illegal syndicates that always come up with ways and means of crossing rivers using undesignated places.
“The reason why most of the people do that is because they bring in some illicit brews from Mozambique so they will never use the designated crossing points.

“There is also a need to intensify our surveillance along the border to ensure that we don’t experience that kind of behaviour along our borders,” he said.
Mr Nkomo added that due to the Tropical Depression Ana, in Chimanimani roads and bridges were swept away.
“In Nyanga houses were razed to the ground, but it was Mutasa that bore the greatest brunt. However, partners especially the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, have given some family tents which are being mounted not only in Nyanga, but also in Mbire and Muzarabani.
“As for the refugee housing units, we will also use them to accommodate our teachers in Muzarabani whose houses had their roofs blown off by the strong winds which accompanied Depression Ana,” he said.
Muchira Bridge in Chimanimani’s Ward 22, which connects with Ward 21, was extensively damaged, while 19 houses in Nyanga were damaged due to heavy rains.
Mr Nkomo said the focus now is on Cyclone Batsirai, a name coined by Zimbabwe.

“We have not dismantled our preparations on the ground. All the committees are active because a specific area has not yet been mentioned on how this Cyclone Batsirai is going to affect Zimbabwe.
“We have activated all the 10 provinces so that they gear themselves for any eventuality just in case it visits Zimbabwe,” he said.
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) head of public weather services, Mr James Ngoma Junior, said they are currently monitoring Cyclone Batsirai which is more intense than tropical storm Ana.
“An intense cyclone is almost like that of Cyclone Idai where wind speeds can go above 160km an hour. Right now it is expected to make landfall over Madagascar about 1 200 kilometres away from Zimbabwe.
“As the name Batsirai suggests, Zimbabwe is supposed to also offer help to our neighbouring countries including Madagascar. When Idai struck, other countries came in and assisted Zimbabwe in different ways. So this call is a call for help for us as a nation to come up and help other countries,” he said.

Matabeleland Vets Challenge Mnangagwa

By-The ZPRA Veterans Association has called for security sector reforms so that the country’s security services will not be used by political parties to perpetuate politically-motivated violence in the country.

Zimbabwe is set to hold by-elections on 26 March this year and general elections in 2023. The country has a history of violence during elections.

The appeal from the ex-ZPRA fighters also comes after unknown people bombed a Gukurahundi memorial plaque at Bhalagwe Concentration Camp on 4 January 2022.

The memorial plaque was the third to be vandalised on the same site where two others were previously defaced.

Speaking in an interview with CITE, ZPRA Veterans Association spokesperson, Buster Magwizi, said security sector reform is imperative. He said:

These reforms will change the status quo in the mindset of the security systems, that no one should use violence in Zimbabwe.

We are dismayed and perplexed at the same time at the callous bombing that took place at Bhalagwe where a plaque that had been placed at the mass graves as a result of the Gukurahundi.

Those who bombed the plaque are just showing signs of violence, they are propagating violence, they want to perpetuate violence. We don’t want violence in Zimbabwe, we abhor violence.

All those who are doing that must realise that they are jeopardising the security sector of this country, they are destabilising the security of this country.

… The use of the military, use of the security system, use of the national military, use of the national security system in the use of violence should not be entertained.

Magwizi urged war veterans to desist from victimising the “very same people” they liberated.

Police Target Chamisa Byo Officials

By- Reports coming from Bulawayo said that the police in the second capital had summoned several CCC leaders regarding the party’s official by-election campaign launch in the city, which was set for this Thursday.

The launch has since been postponed due to logistical challenges.

The party’s organising secretary and chairperson for Bulawayo province Hellen Mpofu and James Sithole, respectively, were on Wednesday summoned by the police and grilled over the launch.

Speaking in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com, Mpofu said she was summoned to Southampton police headquarters, where officers from the Law and Order Section as well as Police Internal Security Intelligence (PISI) interrogated her. She said:

The police officers subjected me to a barrage of questions including why Chamisa was coming to Bulawayo.

But I openly told the officers that there was nothing sinister or unlawful about the launch since ZANU PF has held recent similar functions in the city without any problems.

I even asked the officers that is CCC now banned in the country because all the parties, including (Douglas) Mwonzora’s party, have been holding meetings without any challenges.

As I speak, I hear Mwonzora’s party will be holding a meeting in the city this week and the police have not said anything.

The party’s Bulawayo province spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza confirmed the developments, adding that the police has warned the party that they will not allow a car rally in Nkulumane.

Indomitable Lions, Mighty Pharaohs Of Egypt Clash In Explosive Encounter

Egypt are out for revenge against the team that beat them in the 2017 final when they meet in the final four on Thursday

This article contains affiliate links. We may receive a commission on any sales we generate from it
Cameroon are one game away from reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil but getting beyond Egypt will be no easy feat.

The Indomitable Lions were crowned champions as recently as 2017 and on Thursday will come up against the side they beat to secure the trophy.

Egypt, however, have been defensively solid throughout the competition this year and will be looking to get revenge by scraping another victory in Yaounde.

Cameroon vs Egypt latest odds
At 23/20 (2.15) with bet365, Cameroon are favourites to win the semi-final encounter, while Egypt are 10/3 (4.33) to beat the hosts.

The draw can be backed at 7/4 (2.75).

Cameroon vs Egypt first goalscorer
The tournament’s top goalscorer Vincent Aboubakar is the shortest priced player to break the deadlock 15/4 (4.75) ahead of Egypt hero Mohamed Salah, who is available at 5/1 (6.00).

Cameroon star Karl Toko Ekambi, who already has five goals to his name in the competition, is offered at 11/2 (6.50).

Cameroon vs Egypt preview
The last time these two sides met was in the 2017 final, which Cameroon won 2-0.

But before that, Toni Conceicao’s side had a woeful record against the Pharaohs, losing five and drawing two of their previous seven encounters.

But the Indomitable Lions have been excellent in this year’s Afcon and will be confident as they approach this match.

Egypt, however, have been tough to beat throughout the tournament, but have some fitness troubles to deal with.

First-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy is a doubt for the semi-final and backup option Mohamed Abou Gabal suffered an injury in extra time against Morocco, meaning Mohamed Sobhi could get the nod.

Ahmed Hegazy is also a doubt after sustaining an injury in the previous match.

Cameroon vs Egypt tips & predictions
Both teams to score is priced at 5/4 (2.25) which looks like an enticing option given the strength these sides have in attack. – Goal.com

About Air Pollution And Your Health

Ken Sharpe’s Pokugara Properties Stalls Trial For The Umpteenth Time

By A Correspondent| Pokugara Properties and its legal counsel have for the umpteenth time stalled the trial in a case in which they are being charged with malicious damage to property at the Harare magistrates court.

Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara who is representing Pokugara Properties and its managing director Michael John Van Blerk was said to be engaged at the High Court, forcing Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko to postpone trial to 22 February 2022.

Pokugara Properties and Van Blerk are jointly charged with City of Harare and its three officials who are all represented by Charles Kwaramba.

It is the state’s case that sometime between July 2018 and October 2018, at lot 9 of 21 on consolidated number 19559 of 19828 on Harare Township corner Teviotdale and Whitwell in Borrowdale, Mandla Marlone Ndebele, Isaiah Zvenyika Chawatama, Samuel Nyabezi and Lasten Taonezvi destroyed a show house constructed by Harare business George Katsimberis without a court order.

The accused allegedly acted in common purpose and demolished Katsimberis’ Show house which had an approved plan without advising the complainant.

They alleged that Katsimberis constructed the show house without approved architectural plans despite evidence that the plans were approved at City of Harare’s Cleveland house where all payments effected and receipted.

The show house in question was constructed by Katsimberis under a botched joint venture with Pokugara proprietor, Sharpe who unilaterally and without notice pulled out of the agreement.

Pokugara Properties and  its managing director Michael John Van Blerk are also facing perjury charges after deposing an affidavit under case HC8943/18 in which they are allegedly lied that the Katsimberis submitted plans for the show house at City of Harare’s Mt Pleasant office.

Katsimberis has since submitted evidence of plans submitted at Cleveland house with a city official confirming in an affidavit that stamps and signatures appended on the plans were authentic.

Prophet Steals Client’s Car At Sowe

By-A 34-year-old self-styled Murehwa prophet has been arrested on allegations of stealing a Toyota Belta worth US$4 000, belonging to a client during a cleansing ceremony on a mountain in Mutoko.

Police arrested Micah Chiremba of Chirova Village, Chief Murape, Chinamhora in Murehwa after they had mounted a roadblock along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway on Tuesday.

Investigations revealed that Chiremba met the victim, a woman at Mutoko Business Centre, after making some arrangements for spiritual deliverance.

The two then drove to Mutemwa Mountain for some prayer sessions where Chiremba later covered the woman with a black and white cloth before ordering her to pray for herself.
He then took advantage of the situation to steal the car keys and a wallet before driving off unnoticed.
Chiremba ferried some passengers, including a police officer in plain clothes at the business centre and drove towards Harare.
The police officer noticed Chiremba’s bad driving and notified detectives from Murehwa who then mounted a roadblock leading to his arrest.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Inspector Portia Chinho confirmed the arrest.
“On February 1, 2022, the accused person, a self-styled prophet met the complainant at Mutoko Business Centre in fulfilment to their prior arrangements for a spiritual deliverance ceremony. The two, using complainant’s vehicle drove to Mutemwa Mountain and upon arrival, the complainant parked at the foot of the mountain and the two proceeded to the top of the mountain for the prayer sessions.
“The accused person ordered the complainant to remove her shoes and leave her belongings outside the shrine in line with dictates of the shrine. The accused person went on to perform the allegedly spiritual deliverance before covering the complainant with a black and white cloth and ordered the complainant to pray for herself,” she said.
She said while the victim was praying, the accused person sneaked away, searched the complainant’s handbag and stole car keys, a cellphone and a wallet with personal documents.
He proceeded to the parked vehicle and drove off towards Harare.
“Along the way, the accused person picked passengers at Mutoko Business Centre. His driving conduct was bad and this prompted one of the passengers who happened to be a police officer to become suspicious.

“She alerted detectives from CID Murewa who mounted a roadblock and intercepted the vehicle. The accused was arrested and the vehicle recovered. The accused person is set to appear at Murewa Magistrates Court on 03 February 2022,” Detective Insp Chinho said.
She urged members of the public to be wary of criminals who masquerade as self-styled prophets and duping unsuspecting victims of their properties and hard earned cash.

Girlfriend Bashes Headman’s 72-Year-Old Wife

MASVINGO – Traditional leaders are according to Shona culture role models but this does not seem true with Headman Masasire of Bikita whose young girlfriend has created problems in the family by assaulting his 72-year-old wife.

Headman Masasire born Augustine Tongai Kereke (82) is dating Jane Musindo who is 41 years younger than him and Musindo is in the habit of assaulting Kereke’s 72-year-old wife.

Mbuya Leocadia Kereke was eventually forced to ditch her matrimonial home because of the assaults and had to live with her children from one to another.

Further Jane also assaults Headman Masasire himself from time to time, according to court papers in the hands of The Mirror.

Despite the violence, Kereke who has 15 children from different women has gone on to trash his 56-year-old marriage to his wife Mbuya Kereke, describing it as chimuchato chemaRoma (the useless Catholic marriage).

Mbuya Kereke and Kereke were married at the Roman Catholic run Silveira Mission in 1966.

The matter which has caused divisions in the family and tainted the Masasire Headmanship spilled into the courts and Magistrate Mutema, in November 2020 issued an order for the eviction of Jane out of the Kereke homestead.

The order was sought by Mbuya Kereke.

However, Kereke and Jane last week approached the High Court in Masvingo in a bid to overturn the eviction order. Jane was staying at the Kereke homestead since 2019.

The appeal was heard before Justice Garainesu Mawadze and Justice Sunsley Zisengwe.

The court documents indicate that Mbuya Kereke looked after all of Kereke’s 15 children including those that he sired with other women.

The basis of Kereke’s argument at the courts is that Mbuya Kereke has no right to evict another woman from Kereke’s homestead.

Mbuya Kereke through her lawyer Joel Mambara of Mambara and Associates argued that she has the right to instigate an eviction order on the basis that she is trying to preserve her marriage and matrimonial home.

She also said that she does not mind if Kereke and Musindo go and stay at another place.

“The family has been divided by this and siblings are no longer seeing eye to eye because of this,” said Mambara in court.

Musindo and Kereke are arguing that the eviction order should be nullified because Mbuya Kereke does not own the Kereke homestead and has no right to chase away Musindo who is staying with Kereke’s consent.

Council Stadium Turned Into Car Park

In a rather shocking development, that could further expose the extent at which the football facilities have been run down, Chibuku Stadium, the most popular stadium in the dormitory town of Chitungwiza, has now been turned into a car park.

The ongoing blitz on unregistered vehicles by police has left Makoni Police Station in Chitungwiza overwhelmed by the growing number of impounded cars.

This has prompted authorities to look for an alternative place to secure the vehicles.

And Chibuku Stadium, which has been idle for years, has now been turned into  a temporary vehicle storage facility.

“The parking space at Makoni Police Station has been overwhelmed and the police is now using Chibuku Stadium as a temporary measure during this blitz,” a police source told Mdlalo90

The Stadium, which used to host Premier Soccer League matches back in the late 1990s, has been defunct for so many years, denying the people of Chitungwiza a chance to watch top flight football.

Darryn T and Kiglon are some of the former PSL teams which once used Chibuku Stadium as their home ground.

There was a time when the facility would host such big teams as Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS United.

All that is now part of history as Chibuku Stadium is now dilapidated and unfit to host even a boozers match.

Chitungwiza Council spokesperson Lovemore Meya said this was a temporary move.

“The thing is, it was not turned into a storage facility by the ZRP but we are having a joint operation with them.

“Therefore, we are offering storage facilities and security at our premises since it is a joint effort,” Meya told Mdlalo90.

He added: “Our Zengeza Head office is being used also as a storage facility, same with our Seke North offices and the overflow has actually forced us to use Chibuku Stadium as a storage facility as well for simple reasons that we have witnessed an overflow in traffic offenders in Chitungwiza.

“As a result, we have turned our premises to holding facilities to which those found wanting on traffic offenses are being fined and paying storage facilities to the tune of USD$10-00 to USD$20-00 depending on the size or weight of the vehicle,” Meya said.

Recently, Harare Provincial Development Coordinator, Tafadzwa Muguti, was  castigated by a group of Councilors and administrators for stalling development in Chitungwiza, including the renovation of Chibuku Stadium.

According to the officials, Council had awarded a tender to a company for the renovation of the Stadium on a win-win basis.

However, Muguti allegedly threatened that if Council went ahead with the plan then officials involved would be arrested, sources say.

Owing to this impasse, the Stadium is being misused and also denying even local footballers a chance to showcase their talent on home soil.

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) founder, Walter Magaya, also proposed to take over the renovation of the Stadium some few years ago, but his efforts were thwarted by some Councilors who allegedly demanded kick backs.

Chibuku Stadium is one of the many dilapidated football facilities across the country.

Rufaro, Gwanzura and Dzvivaresekwa Stadiums in Harare are now dysfunctional.

Mbizo and Amaveni in Kwekwe have also suffered the same fate, just like Rudhaka in Marondera which also used to host PSL matches.

Gweru Hit By Earthquake

By A Correspondent- An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the Midlands province in central Zimbabwe yesterday morning, South Africa’s Council for Geoscience (CGS) said yesterday.

The earthquake, described as being of moderate magnitude, hit 15km southwest of Gweru at 5:15am local time.

“The quake hit a shallow depth of 10km beneath the epicentre near Gweru, Midlands province, Zimbabwe, early yesterday morning,” CGS reported.

“The exact magnitude, epicentre and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations or as other agencies issue their reports.

“Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake may not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicentre.”

According to the report, the tremors were felt in Gweru, Shurugwi, Lalapanzi, Redcliff, Kwekwe and Zvishavane, all of the Midlands.

The last earthquake to be recorded in the country occurred on January 25 this year, which measured 3.2 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was 19km northwest of Bulawayo, but was reported to had been felt as far as Francistown in Botswana.

In June last year, CGS reported an earthquake of similar magnitude and depth near the Midlands capital.

There were, however, no casualties or damage to property caused by the earthquake.

The biggest quake was recorded in the country 16 years ago in Chipinge, which had magnitude of 7.0 and a depth of 11km.

Unregistered Schools Given Window Period To Register

By A Correspondent- Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province Tafadzwa Muguti has given unregistered and unlicensed schools and colleges in Harare province until the end of March this year to regularise their operations.

It has emerged that 448 private schools in Harare with a combined enrollment of 22 569 pupils were not registered with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) and local authorities.

Muguti directed the schools and colleges to take advantage of the grace period and regularise with the Ministry, ZIMRA and all local authorities. He said:

The office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and local authorities launched a blitz across the province to expose schools and colleges operating without Government licenses, ZIMRA registration and local authority permits.

While the initial list comprised 400 illegal schools and colleges, the blitz managed to identify 448 schools and colleges that did not comply with any Government or local authority requirement.

To date, a total of 320 schools have been shut down due to non-compliance, whilst 273 owners of these illegal institutions have since been arrested and appearing before the courts.

Among other requirements, the schools have to be on premises that are safe and not a health risk and have to follow the national core syllabus although can add other subjects.

Drama As Ho_rny Man Tripples Neighbor, , Removes Her Skirt

By A Correspondent- A sex starved Guruve man is in trouble after he tripped down his neighbour, removed her skirt and failed to remove her panties at their gardens in Mudhindo.

The matter came to light at Guruve magistrates courts yesterday where Linoce Fovhoro pleaded not guilty to indecent assault before magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

Prosecutor Albert Charewa alleges on 25 October last year Fivhoro met Lynet Chikanga at their gardens in Mudhindo.

Fovhoro had a misunderstanding with  Chikanga over boundary issues.

Fovhoro suddenly jumped into Chikanga’s field tipped her down, pulled down her skirt before attempting to remove her panties.

Police Record Decrease In Crimes Associated With Unregistered Vehicles

By A Correspondent- Police in Bulawayo said that they have noted a 75 per cent reduction in crimes associated with unregistered motor vehicles and those without number plates such as armed robbery, rape and kidnapping in the past two weeks.

On 15 January, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) launched an operation to remove from the country’s roads all unregistered motor vehicles and those without number plates.

Police said some of the vehicles were being used as getaway cars in the commission of dangerous crimes.

ZRP spokesperson in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Inspector Abednico Ncube, said:

On average we were receiving four cases of robberies involving unregistered motor vehicles per week. But now we receive just one. During this operation, we almost realised a 75 per cent reduction of similar crimes.

We have seen a reduction of cases involving such vehicles in offences like robberies and rape over the period of this operation.

Inspector Ncube implored the public to desist from boarding unregistered cars and those without number plates as this exposes them to rape, robbery and kidnapping. He said:

Of course, we have received a case of robbery and rape where a woman boarded a motor vehicle going to Southwold, and on the way, she was raped. But generally, the cases have been reduced.

Despite the fact that we have an operation, our members of the public are still supporting these vehicles.

So, we are urging them to cooperate with the police and only use licensed public service vehicles and not pirate taxis.

The ZRP said that 24 355 arrests have been made since the operation started on 15 January.

10 Swept Way By Weekend Storm

Dr Khupe Cries Foul Over Political Parties Money

By A Correspondent- Former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe has accused the Government of discrimination after the opposition party was granted the whole $150 million dollars under the Political Parties Finance Act.

Khupe, who was suspended by MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora before she was eventually expelled from the party and recalled from Parliament, said she has have been discriminated against because of her gender as she is the rigtful beneficiary of the money.

Khupe announced a split of the party on 21 January and subsequently wrote to National Assembly Speaker, Jacob Mudenda, and Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi saying she was the leader of MDC-T hence her faction was eligible to receive funds from Treasury.

Addressing a press conference in Harare on Wednesday, Khupe claimed she is the bona fide leader of the judicially reconstructed party and criticised Mudenda for accepting her recall from Parliament. She said:

I am the leader of the opposition in Parliament. I pleaded with the Minister of Justice (Legal and Parliamentary Affairs) Hon Ziyambi Ziyambi to treat both formations in an equal manner (regarding funds).

Giving money to Mwonzora is unjustified inequality and unfair practice. I have been discriminated against because I am a woman. I am being victimised and cannot breathe.

She said Mwonzora cannot recall her and receive money from Government as he is now the leader of the MDC Alliance.

However, Mwonzora said Khupe was poorly-advised and has “anger management issues”. He said:

Dr Khupe does not know what she is saying. She has anger management issues. Funds for political parties are not disbursed based on the disgruntlement of individuals.

The MDC-Alliance I am leading is not a political party so it is incapable of having a president.

The president of the MDC-T is the leader of the MDC Alliance as was Morgan Tsvangirai, Chamisa, Khupe and now myself.

She does not seem to know she was in Parliament under the MDC-Alliance banner of 2018 after she took over from Thabitha Khumalo. She absolutely has no case. She will not get anything.

The High Court in Bulawayo is today set to hear an application by Khupe challenging Mwonzora’s eligibility to receive the funds.

Khupe Challenges Parly Recall

By-Former MDC-T Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe said she would challenge the decision of MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora to recall her from Parliament.

Mwonzora, Wednesday recalled Khupe from Parliament.

Khupe revealed the development while addressing a press conference this Wednesday. She said Senator Mwonzora wrote to Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda on the 24th of January 2022 notifying him of his intention to recall Khupe. She said she also sent a letter to Mudenda but he ignored the letter. Pindula News presents Khipe’s full statement below:
On the 21st of January 2022, a Split of the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai occurred. This was as a result of constitutional transgressions. Douglas Mwonzora has for times without number, violated the constitution of the party whereas Article 9.1.2 (a) enjoins the President to uphold and defend the party constitution. It, therefore, follows that the President cannot be at the centre of constitutional transgressions. At the same time, Douglas Mwonzora declared that he was now the leader of MDC Alliance party. This is evidence that we now have two parties, MDC T and the MDC Alliance hence the split.
It was in this vein that l then wrote letters to the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Justice on the 24th of January 2022 informing both institutions that the MDC-T party had split into two formations, one led by Dr Thokozani Khupe who is also Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and the other led by Douglas Mwonzora, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and President of the MDC Alliance party. I appealed to the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs to treat both formations equally and exercise impartiality.
However, to my surprise on the 26th of January 2022, I received a letter from the Speaker of Parliament through a courier, FedEx which was delivered to my house in Bulawayo together with my colleague Nomvula Mguni to the effect that we had been recalled and we were no longer Members of Parliament. I have never heard in the history of Parliament a member being recalled through a letter sent to their home by FedEx at a time when Parliament is not in session.

Parliament will be resuming in a fortnight and you shudder to think why the Speaker of Parliament was in such a hurry to recall me by a letter he wrote whilst sitting in his office and sending it through FedEx. That is unprocedural. My understanding of Parliamentary operations, is that the Speaker derives his powers from the mace when he is sitting on his chair in the House of Assembly and in the presence of seating Members of Parliament because the mace is the symbol of authority of the House and the Speaker. Without the mace, the House cannot sit and pass laws.

On the 24th of January 2022, the Speaker of Parliament received two letters, one from my party and another from Mwonzora’s party. He then decided to ignore my party’s letter and took immediate action on Mwonzora’s party letter of which he subsequently wrote recall letters to us. My letter was reconciliatory because I was pleading with the Speaker of Parliament to exercise impartiality and treat the two parties fairly whereas Mwonzora’s letter was vindictive because he was asking the Speaker of Parliament to recall Nomvula Mguni and myself. Douglas Mwonzora is now President of MDC-Alliance party whereas Honourable Mguni and myself are members of the MDC-T party. It boggles the mind how a leader of another political party can recall members of another party. For example, MDC-T party cannot recall members of PDP neither can they recall members of ZANU-PF.

To make matters worse the Speaker of Parliament in the recall letters he said, I quote, “I must advise that on the 24th of January 2022, I received a notice of recall in terms of section 129 (1) (k) of the Constitution. Accordingly, I must advise that by virtue of Section 129 (1) (k) of the constitution you have seized to be a member of the National Assembly.” My question is which party because the Speaker did not mention the name of the party which gave him those notices.
Previously there are members of Parliament who were recalled because they were accused of being members of MDC-Alliance party. On the country Mwonzora made a public announcement to the effect that he has now formed a new party that is contesting the upcoming by-elections in March under the MDC Alliance banner, whereas this is the reason why other MPs were recalled, it was precisely because they belonged to the MDC Alliance and not MDC-T. Hence the reason why he has expelled himself from the party in terms of the MDC-T constitution, Article 5.10 (a).

Therefore, Douglas Mwonzora has no locus standi of recalling a member of the MDC-T because he is now a member and the leader of the MDC- Alliance. This clearly demonstrates the bias, impartiality and inconsistence by the Speaker of Parliament.
Splits in the Movement for Democratic Change are not a new phenomena. The first split happened in 2005 between the late Gibson Sibanda, Deputy President and the late Morgan Tsvangirai, the President.
Parliament recognized and respected both formations and accepted the status quo. Both formations were allowed to co-exist and they co-existed until the end of their term of office in 2008.
This is where my issue of victimization and discrimination is derived from.
Two men split in 2005 and they were allowed to co-exist by this same institution.
A woman and a man have split in 2022 that is Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora. The Speaker of Parliament then decides to favour Douglas Mwonzora over me without even considering calling both parties to the table for a discussion. Truly speaking this is glaring evidence of inequality, discrimination and victimisation.

There is no provision in the Standing Rules and Orders where the Speaker of Parliament is supposed to supervise political parties and adjudicate when they have a dispute.
The Speaker of Parliament in this instance received two letters on the same day and almost at the same time, but alas he decided on which formation was legitimate, l wonder where he got those powers from.
The Speaker of Parliament knew very well that Mwonzora had declared that he was now leader of the MDC Alliance party and that he was going to participate in the by-elections under the MDC Alliance party. There is evidence for all to see because his candidates for the March 26 2022 by-elections have registered under MDC Alliance. This is the same party whose MPs were recalled from Parliament because they had seized to be members of the MDC-T.
The Speaker of Parliament in his wisdom disregarded that and decided to take sides with another man. As a woman, I strongly feel victimised and discriminated against at the highest level.

As if that was not enough, the Minister of Justice equally decided that the Political Parties Grant will go to Mwonzora. Again, l wonder where the Minister of Justice derives his powers from to decide on which formation is legitimate as l also wrote a letter to him advising him on the new developments in the party and pleaded with him to treat both formations in a fair and just manner.
In 2014, the MDC-T split again and this time it was between the late Morgan Tsvangirai, President and Tendai Biti, the Secretary-General. Political Parties funds were split between the two formations.
In 2022, the same MDC-T party has split between Thokozani Khupe, Deputy President and Douglas Mwonzora, President but the sad reality is that the Minister of Justice wants to give the full amount to Mwonzora and one shudders to think why.
When it was Morgan Tsvangirai and Tendai Biti the money was divided into two but this time around because it is Thokozani Khupe, a woman and Mwonzora, a man, the Minister of Justice wants the full amount to go to Mwonzora. Surely what can one call this other than seeing it as an unjustified inequality and an unfair practice.
In these two instances l have been discriminated against because I am a Woman.
It is very clear that when it comes to my case, there is selective application of rules and regulations. When it was Morgan Tsvangirai and Gibson Sibanda they were both respected and treated with impartiality. Again when it was Tendai Biti and Morgan Tsvangirai they were respected and treated with impartiality.
This time around it is Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora and both the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Justice have decided to side with another man, Mwonzora for no apparent reason.
In my view, these institutions, namely the Executive and the Legislature are not exercising impartiality and colluding against me with regards to this matter.
As women in the political arena in this country we have been victimised and discriminated against for times without number and time has come for women to rise and say this far and no further. Our voices are being silenced and we are being disempowered.
I met with Women’s Organisations to tell them our story of victimisation and discrimination just because of our gender. I am being suffocated and I Can’t Breathe.
At the same time, l have written to the United Nations Secretary-General H.E. Antonio Guterres, the UN Women Executive Director Dr. Sima Sami Bahous, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights H.E Michelle Bachelet, the Inter-Parliamentary Union President Honourable Duarte Pacheco, the Pan-African Parliament and Madam Bineta Diop, Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission on Women, Peace and Security so that they see the amount of victimisation and discrimination against women by the Executive and the Legislature.
I am therefore calling upon the Executive to Stop discrimination against women. By the same token, l am calling upon the legislature to Stop discrimination against women. I am saying this with a heart which is bleeding because I am a victim of discrimination by these pillars of the State. Women and men must be treated with dignity, respect and equality because we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord, therefore we must all be equal in the eyes of the Law.
I would like to conclude by calling on Women’s organizations and women at large to rise and fight with me this deadly Pandemic called Victimization and Discrimination against women in politics. l am going to fight to the finish. I will fight discrimination against women with the last drop of my tears. I will fight discrimination against women with the last drop of my sweat. I will fight discrimination against women with the last drop of my blood, not just for myself but for young women who should not be intimidated but should be inspired to commit without shame in the politics of this country and help shape their destinies.
I rest my case.

Mwonzora Throws Khupe Under The Bus

By-MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has left his former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe crying after he recalled him from Parliament.

Khupe revealed the development while addressing a press conference this Wednesday. Zanu PF Youths Threaten To Unleash Violence Ahead Of By-Elections

By- Zanu PF youth league has threatened violence ahead of the March 26 by-elections.

The party youths who endorsed the candidature of President Mnangagwa for the 2023 presidential elections Wednesday said they would do so as a way of defending the revolution.

The league said it was strategising and mobilising party structures to deliver victory for the party in the upcoming by-elections and, ultimately, 2023 harmonised elections.

They also said they would embark on a process to inculcate party values to the youth by working with the Chitepo School of Ideology.

“In the upcoming by-elections, we believe in protecting and defending the revolution. We will support our leader President Mnangagwa,” said Cde Yeukai Simbanegavi, the league’s spokesperson.
