Speaking during a recent state media interview, Diana Mnangagwa who is his younger, said the senior politician poisoned her during the days they were living in Zambia.

In a sad incident, a 36-year-old Mutoko man was dragged to court after he fatally assaulted his uncle over witchcraft allegations.
Sigareta Nyamadzi was not asked to plead to a murder charge before Mutoko magistrate Chiedza Gatsi.
Gatsi remanded Nyamadzi in custody to March 8 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The state led by Nathan Majuru alleged on February 22 at Nyamadzi village, chief Chimoyo in Mutoko the suspect approached the now deceased Peter Nyamadzi and accused hm of being a wizard.
The angry suspect picked a stone and struck Peter on the head.
Peter fell down and the suspect picked a hoe and struck him twice on the head.
He further took a machete and struck him twice again there by killing him on the spot.

Residents living westward of the dump, along Seke Road/Chaminuka Street in Majorburg, and commuters using the termini are particularly affected by the smoke.
“We are deeply concerned about the health risks associated with this constant smoke,” said a spokesperson for PAZ. “The toxic pollutants being released into the air can have serious consequences for respiratory health, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.”

Cynthia Gold Mine in Shurugwi is vetting its workers and kicking out anyone found to have links with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, a local media organisation has been told.
A board member of the mine, Peter Mashaya openly said that the workers are being punished for voting CCC councillors from Makusha Suburb into office.

Emerging from a meeting with Zimbabwe’s Defence Minster in Harare this Friday, Belarus Minister of State Authority for Military Industry, Honourable Dimitriv Pantus said skills transfer will be done within the shortest possible time.
Honourable Dimitriv Pantus said, “We discussed several key areas, particularly looking at how we can assist with skills transfer and support the military sector with the latest and modern technology. We are looking to implement in the very shortest time.”

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Namibia, Her Excellency Melody Chaurura told ZBC News that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa are expected to attend the funeral.

Chidamba made her appearance at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court, where she was granted bail set at US$100.

Following the resignation of Advocate Nelson Chamisa as CCC President towards the end of January 2024, two CCC leadership camps have emerged – one which will be co-chaired by Professor Welshman Ncube, Advocate Tendai Biti and Lynette Kerenyi-Kore, according to information given at a press conference by Advocate Jacob Mafume, which is collaborated by Professor Welshman Ncube in subsequent media interviews he had after the Mafume Press Conference. The other faction is led by Mr. Jameson Timba, which justifies its authenticity through the argument that the CCC is managed through the Citizen National Assembly.
My recollection of the Supreme Court Judgement of 2020 which gave control of the MDC to Dr. Khupe is that it confirmed the May 2019 decision of the High Court that Dr. Tsvangirai’s appointment in July 2016 of Advocate Chamisa and Engineer Mudzuri as additional Deputy President was in breach of the MDC Constitution and therefore null and void; that the appointment of Advocate Chamisa as Acting President of the MDC by the party’s National Council after Mr. Tsvangirai’s death in February 2018 and his subsequent election as President of MDC were likewise null and void. That would also mean that every other position elected at the 2019 Congress and all the structures endorsed by that Congress are null and void.
If the positions elected at Gweru were null and void, the persons elected into those positions can therefore not claim to be in the same positions in the CCC. That does not mean that Professor Ncube, Advocate Biti, Karenyi-Kore and Mafume faction are not entitled to claim leadership as they are part of the CCC, just as the Timba lead faction, but to claim leadership basing the argument on positions that were nullified by a court of law does not sound right, so these colleagues have started on the wrong footing, and the sooner they realise that and find an alternative justification for their claim to leadership may be the best thing for them to do.
The truth of the matter is that there are factions that have been created following the resignation of Advocate Chamisa. In my view, the CCC was a new party, which should not have carried over the structures that were declared null and void by a court of law. While it took two years for the nullified Gweru Congress leadership to admit the court ruling and form something new, they finally did. I recollect that when members of the public complained that Professor Ncube was not speaking against Tshabangu’s recall of legislators, Professor Ncube asked in what capacity he was expected to comment as he did not have a position in the party, so for Professor Ncube to now claim a leadership position makes the general public question his integrity.
If it is true that the Citizens National Assembly was the way decisions were made in the CCC, Timba’s team has a good argument.
Unfortunatelly for Tshabangu, he was neither the Secretary-General after the 2019 Congress, nor was he part of the Citizens National Assemly after the formation of the CCC.
I encourage the factions to reflect deeply on the issues I have raised and find a way forward. If they cannot agree on things, then they should agree to part ways amicably as happened in 2005, when people chose to belong where they felt more aligned to without the fear of being recalled from parliament. I remember the likes of Blessing Chebundo initially going with the Gibson Sibanda lead faction, only to change positions and went with the faction lead by the late Dr. Tsvangirai later, taking along his parliamentary seat with him in the process.

The move, aimed at generating goodwill, has instead opened a Pandora’s box of political intrigue and social media skepticism, leading to public embarrassment, particularly highlighted by the dignified rejection from renowned human rights activist, Godfrey Karembera, also known as Madzibaba WeShanduko.
Chivayo, associated with the ZANU PF party, had been gifting top-of-the-range vehicles to various individuals, directing them to Victor Matiyenga’s Exquisite Cars Dealership for collection. This pattern of generosity inadvertently thrust Matiyenga into the limelight and led to the creation of an X account under his name, which became a source of controversy.
While investigators probe suggestives of money laundering, Victor Matiyenga himself has spoken out against what he said was a misuse of his identity, emphasizing the negative impact on his reputation and business. “This unfortunate incident has forced me to take legal action to protect my name,” Matiyenga declared, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The scheme took a sour turn when an offer made through the contentious X account to Karembera, implied he could receive a car in return for publicly renouncing his political leader, Nelson Chamisa.
Karembera’s response was a resolute show of support for Chamisa, a move that not only refused Chivayo’s perceived manipulation but also signaled a broader resistance against attempts to politicize philanthropy.
The X offer to Karembera has since disappeared overnight in a huge embarrassment to both Victor and Chivayo.

By-A Chitungwiza woman is being accused of murdering her married boyfriend, who died at her house on Christmas Day last year.
Sharon Chidamba (40) appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court where she was granted US$100 bail.
The State said Chidamba was engaged in a dispute with the late Edward Chakanetsa after a beer drink. Chidamba is believed to have attacked Chakanetsa with an unknown object leaving him with a fractured skull leading to his death. Prior to her arrest on January 6, Chidamba was accused of giving conflicting statements to Chakanetsa’s relatives, who suspected foul play. In one of her alleged accounts, Chidamba claimed Chakanetsa downed rat poison before she rushed him to a local hospital where he later died. However, the family made a police report after post mortem results showed that Chakanetsa died from an attack by a blunt object. Chidamba is expected back in court soon while police investigations into the murder continue. H Metro

By Political Reporter- Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart has exposed the former MDC and PDP members who hijacked the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti are the leaders of the MDC and PDP, who appointed themselves as rotating presidents of the CCC last week after frustrating Nelson Chamisa.
Coltart’s expose’ comes after Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, who claims to be the CCC’s spokesperson, said Coltart was the party’s Treasurer-General.
Mafume and his allies who include Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti, purport to have revived the MDC Alliance structures elected by the 2019 Gweru Congress to run CCC.
Coltart, who was elected MDC Alliance Tresurer-General, was among the party’s former bigwigs who snubbed a recent meeting of CCC members who sought to revive the structures from the Gweru Congress.
Responding to an X user who had asked to know his position regarding the remarks made by Mafume, Coltart said he ceased being Treasurer General a long time ago. He said:
That is news to me. I ceased being Treasurer General ages ago. As I wrote in my statement recently I refuse to be drawn into any zero-sum game. The future of Zimbabwe depends on all genuine democrats finding each other and working jointly to defeat tyranny.
Commenting on Coltart’s stance, journalist and government critic Hopewell Chin’ono said opposition political activists must resolve their differences and work together. He wrote on X:

@DavidColtart has rejected Jacob Mafume’s assertion that he is the current Treasurer-General.
This now leads to more questions that need to be asked, questions asking who else was named and yet is not part of the CCC leadership structure in the faction represented by Jacob Mafume as party spokesman.
As the man he has always been, @DavidColtart has maturely advised anyone opposed to ZANU-PF corrupt rule to not fight to kill each other.
He realises that these opposition fights have only one beneficiary, ZANU PF.
Coltart is among the majority of CCC’s elected representatives who resisted pressure to resign after former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa quit the party last month.
A Harare man arrested last year for smuggling two Ford Ranger vehicles and affixing them with number plates from the President’s Office is controversial prophet Uebert Angel’s aide.
Angel, the founder of Spirit Embassy, is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large to Europe and the Americas (OPEAAL).
Terrance Madiro was part of a syndicate that included Aleck Dzepatsva, Brian Matongo and Elvis Jieman that was involved in smuggling different types of high-end cars from South Africa.
They allegedly fraudulently acquired exempted number plates from the Office of the President and Cabinet to avoid paying customs duty as well as enabling free passage at tollgates and police roadblocks.
Madiro, whose case has been separated from his co-accused, will be back in court for trial on 10 April.
His co-accused are back in court on 10 March.
Madiro is accused of smuggling a white Ford Ranger vehicle double cab in 2020, chassis Number AFAPXXMJ2PHK28914.
He allegedly affixed registration number AFB 5575 belonging to the Fleet of Office of the President to the vehicle.
Madiro obtained the number plates from Brezhnev Mutambo who is believed to have been employed by the Department of the President’s Office.
Madiro gave the car to his ex-wife Francisca Madiro for use in transporting their children to and from school.
He smuggled another Ford Raptor Ranger double cab in July 2023 from South Africa and fitted them with registration numbers, AGE 0461 from the Office of the President according to court papers.
Both vehicles were not found in the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and Vehicle Registry databases.
Investigations by The Standard have proven that Madiro, who is listed in court papers as Sentrigo Security, is linked to Angel where he is identified as the chief protocol officer in the cleric’s office, according to the website for the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large to Europe and the Americas.
A Facebook account under the name of Terrence Madiro was updated in 2014 with a picture of Angel and his wife, showing the close connections between the two.
Bill Antonio has signed a new contract at Belgian Pro side KV Mechelen.
Antonio’s two-year contract, which he signed when he joined the club from Dynamos in 2022, was set to expire at the end of the season.
His new deal will last until 2027, the same time his fellow teammate Munashe Garan’anga’s contract will also end.
A statement by the club confirmed the development, saying:
“Bill Antonio has signed a new contract until 2027 with an option for an extra year. The 21-year-old wing attacker has been convincing within the first team in recent weeks and is thus rewarded for his hard work.”
Antonio spent his first year at KV Mechelen Academy before finally breaking into the first team in recent months.
He has since becoming a regular a regular in the first XI, together with Garan’anga.
Speaking after the signing of his new contract, Bill said: “I had to adapt to football here. But I just kept working hard. I feel great with the club, my teammates and the supporters.

By A Correspondent| Several elderly people, who are in their advanced age are among dozens of villagers, who are being prosecuted in Gwanda in Matabeleland South province, on charges of illegally occupying state land without lawful authority.
The 180 villagers, who include a nonagenarian, octogenarian, septuagenarians, sexagenarians and youths, were apprehended by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on 7 February 2024 during a dragnet arrest and summarily charged with occupying gazetted land without lawful authority as defined in Section 3(1)(4) as read with Section 5 of the Gazetted Land Consequential Provisions.
Prosecutors alleged that the 180 villagers, who reside in Nyandeni community in Gwanda North in Matabeleland South province, unlawfully held, used or occupied land at Hollins Block Estate in Gwanda, which is gazetted land and without lawful authority.
Upon their arrest on 7 February 2024, the 180 villagers endured two nights in police detention and were only set free on 9 February 2024 after prosecutors declined to prosecute them when their lawyers Jabulani Mhlanga of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and Mitchell Chigova of Mabhikwa and Partners Legal Practitioners, challenged the manner in which their arrest had been effected as falling short of the provisions of section 50 of the Constitution and the lack of documentary evidence, which informed the arrests as they were merely done to investigate than to prosecute.
The villagers were then summoned to appear at Gwanda Magistrates Court on 23 February 2024, where prosecutors filed an application seeking to formally place them on remand.
However, their lawyers challenged the prosecutors’ bid to place the 180 villagers on remand.
The court was yet to hand down its ruling on the state’s bid to place the villagers on remand by late Friday.

The blaze, which erupted around midnight on Tuesday, has left vendors in despair, with damages estimated nearly at US$50,000. I lost an inventory worth about US$6500,” shared one of the vendors, highlighting the immediate impact on individuals who relied on the market for their income.

In a stark lesson for potential livestock thieves, a 36-year-old man from Grandville Farm, Zvishavane, received a hefty 54-year jail term for stealing 49 cattle in the Lalapanzi area near Gweru.
Magistrate Constance Mutandwa handed down the sentence to Tinodakufa Hove, who was found guilty on six counts of stock theft.According to the State, in July 2021, Benedict Mugari (81) of 22 Nantes Village, Gwanza, Lalapanzi, released his herd of cattle to graze.
On the same day, Hove allegedly stole seven cattle belonging to Mugari and transported them to Grandville Farm.
Hove faced additional charges for incidents on March 29, 2022, where he reportedly stole seven cattle from Methias Toperesu’s MZ4 Tokwe farm in Lalapanzi, and on June 24, 2022, where he again stole seven cattle from Nantes village, Gwanza, Lalapanzi, driving them to his farm.
Further offenses occurred on March 27, 2023, when Hove allegedly stole 12 cattle from Farm 4 Gwanza in Lalapanzi owned by Eliot Matumbu, and in the same month, when he reportedly took nine cattle from Nomsa Munyimi’s open grazing lands. Additionally, on July 25, 2023, Hove was accused of unlawfully taking seven cattle from Mushava Brenda’s kraal, transporting them from Gwanza West Village to the Gamwa area.

After completing a hat-trick of three-year sponsorship deals, Delta Corporation this Thursday announced the renewal of their domestic league sponsorship after unveiling a new deal with the Premier Soccer League, stretching to 2026.
The league’s principal sponsor has over the years’ consistently injected funds into the development of the local game.
“You have seen through various sponsorship packages like we introduced the Chibuku Super Cup and the Castle Challenge Cup how that has helped to uplift the sport and that has been really one of the major driving forces,” said Delta Corporation Limited Marketing Director, Irimayi Muzorewa.

Chamisa said this Thursday at the Namibian Embassy in Harare, paying his condolences following the death of the country’s President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on 04 February this year.
Speaking to journalists after he signed a condolence book at the Namibian Embassy, Chamisa said he was representing millions of Zimbabweans who support him. He said:
I am here precisely representing the people of Zimbabwe who believe in the alternative and who have supported and continue to support [me].
You are aware that we recently held our elections, the 23 August 2023 elections. Over two million people voted.
It is those voices I carry, so I don’t need a political party as I come… It’s not about politics, it’s about honouring a giant.
You are aware that President Hage Geinngob was familiar to me, in my capacity as a leader, as a young African, but more importantly in the context of SADC.
So I am here to pay my condolences to this giant, to this great icon, to this doyen of democracy, to the man who contributed so much, not just to Namibia but also to Africa, and not just to Africa but to humanity.
He made a difference. He was a democrat. He was a believer in justice and freedom and he did not arrest opponents, he did not incarcerate those who differed with him.
He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within SADC, so for that reason we honour him and we are coming here to pay our tribute to the great giant and to say, that he has laid the framework, he has created the path, and ours is to walk in his footsteps.

Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti are the leaders of the MDC and PDP, who appointed themselves as rotating presidents of the CCC last week after frustrating Nelson Chamisa.
Coltart’s expose’ comes after Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, who claims to be the CCC’s spokesperson, said Coltart was the party’s Treasurer-General.
Mafume and his allies who include Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti, purport to have revived the MDC Alliance structures elected by the 2019 Gweru Congress to run CCC.
Coltart, who was elected MDC Alliance Tresurer-General, was among the party’s former bigwigs who snubbed a recent meeting of CCC members who sought to revive the structures from the Gweru Congress.
Responding to an X user who had asked to know his position regarding the remarks made by Mafume, Coltart said he ceased being Treasurer General a long time ago. He said:
That is news to me. I ceased being Treasurer General ages ago. As I wrote in my statement recently I refuse to be drawn into any zero-sum game. The future of Zimbabwe depends on all genuine democrats finding each other and working jointly to defeat tyranny.

The Mayor of Bulawayo, David Coltart has distanced himself from former MDC and PDP members who have hijacked the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
This comes after Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, who claims to be the CCC’s spokesperson, said Coltart was the party’s Treasurer-General.
Mafume and his allies who include Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti, purport to have revived the MDC Alliance structures elected by the 2019 Gweru Congress to run CCC.
Coltart, who was elected MDC Alliance Tresurer-General, was among the party’s former bigwigs who snubbed a recent meeting of CCC members who sought to revive the structures from the Gweru Congress.
Responding to an X user who had asked to know his position regarding the remarks made by Mafume, Coltart said he ceased being Treasurer General a long time ago. He said:
That is news to me. I ceased being Treasurer General ages ago. As I wrote in my statement recently I refuse to be drawn into any zero-sum game. The future of Zimbabwe depends on all genuine democrats finding each other and working jointly to defeat tyranny.
Commenting on Coltart’s stance, journalist and government critic Hopewell Chin’ono said opposition political activists must resolve their differences and work together. He wrote on X:

@DavidColtart has rejected Jacob Mafume’s assertion that he is the current Treasurer-General.

As the man he has always been, @DavidColtart has maturely advised anyone opposed to ZANU-PF corrupt rule to not fight to kill each other.
He realises that these opposition fights have only one beneficiary, ZANU PF.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ambassador-at-large Uebert Angel, born Uebert Madzanire has been banned from YouTube after he allegedly attempted to pull down Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia investigative documentary which exposed him as a key player in alleged gold and money laundering activities in Zimbabwe.
The four-part investigative series also purported that Mnangagwa had a close relationship with gold smugglers and money launderers, who claimed they were making regular payments to the President to ensure protection.
Data analyst Team Pachedu told NewsDay that Angel tried to remove the content several times before being banned from YouTube for violating the terms of service.
“When you make a complaint, YouTube automatically notifies the other party that somebody is violating its copyright for IT (information technology) to get videos. So the other party is involved throughout the process of what’s going on.
“That’s how we managed to know because we knew the party that was involved. Angel has been trying to send requests in an attempt to remove Gold Mafia content until YouTube banned him,” Team Pachedu said.
Team Pachedu said Angel was now desperately luring people to follow him on Facebook.
“Right now he is using another channel called UebertAngelplus on Facebook which was not being used. They have managed to load over 100 videos in the past three days, but the main account has been banned, which was YouTube,” Team Pachedu said.
Team Pachedu also published a letter written by YouTube addressed to Angel giving reasons why they refused to remove the content from the platform.
“Hi Uebert Angel, We are concerned that your copyright notification may not be valid for some or all of the videos identified in your notification,” partly read the letter.
“Please keep in mind that in many countries, it is legal to use copyrighted works in specific ways without the owner’s authorisation, particularly for transformative purposes such as news reporting, parody, commentary, or review.
“Some countries protect such uses under doctrines of ‘fair use’ or ‘fair dealing’, while others allow for specific exceptions to copyright protection.”
Efforts to get a comment from Angel were fruitless.
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has suffered a blow in his bid to appeal the judgment of the High Court Pretoria.
The court had invalidated his December 2021 decision to terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) and an interim interdict, which stopped government from detaining or deporting any holder of the permit.
Motsoaledi turned to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein in November last year to appeal the judgments, which he argued had set a dangerous precedent.
In an order that the SCA issued, Motsoaledi lost with costs the application for leave to appeal.
The appellate court has found no reasonable prospect of success in an appeal.
By A Correspondent| Dynamos vice-chairperson Vincent Chawonza is outraged over what he termed unprofessionalism by Khama Billiat’s handlers after Yadah successfully snatched the former Warriors talisman transfer on Tuesday.
The Harare giants, who had seen off competition from league rivals Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum, Simba Bhora and Caps United believed a deal was pretty much over the line after weeks of protracted negotiations.
But then, Yadah moved in swiftly to nick the 33-year-old from under the Harare giants’ noses.
Chiwonza claims they had agreed on a year’s contract worth US$20 000 with Billiat’s management team, a deal the two parties was set to sign yesterday on the player’s arrival from his base in South Africa.
However, Yadah finessed their contact with the player’s camp through former Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare who brokered the deal and, to DeMbare’s fury, Billiat completed the blockbuster move to the Miracle Boys on a one-year contract, in the biggest and most brutal transfer hijacks in local football.
NewsDay Sport understands Billiat’s first preference was the Glamour Boys, but his head was turned when Yadah paid his air ticket and offered in excess of US$50 000 per annum in salaries, in addition to US$20 000 signing on fees.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star will also get a high-end vehicle and a fully furnished flat in one of Harare’s affluent suburbs as part of the deal.
In the wake of Billiat’s U-turn, Chawonza tore into the player’s management with the Harare businessman accusing them of misleading the former Warriors star into making bad career decisions.
The outspoken administrator pointed to Billiat’s unceremonious exit from Kaizer Chiefs as another good exhibit of his handlers’ poor management skills.
Billiat is managed by Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa.

By A Correspondent| Opposition figure Nelson Chamisa called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to follow the example of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob in championing the principles of free and fair elections.
Chamisa made these remarks during a visit to the Namibian embassy in Harare to convey his condolences following Geingob’s passing on February 4.
Highlighting Geingob’s role as the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security, Chamisa emphasized the late leader’s commitment to addressing the contested election results of August 2023.
Chamisa, the former leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), had contested the election outcome, alleging rigging.
Representing the people of Zimbabwe who supported his cause, Chamisa asserted, “President Geingob was familiar to me in my personal capacity as a young African leader, but more importantly in the context of Sadc.”
He shared that his engagement with Geingob aimed at finding common ground and a solution to the disputed elections.
Describing Geingob as a democrat, Chamisa urged African leaders to follow his exemplary conduct.
He stressed that Geingob’s commitment to justice and freedom, along with his avoidance of arresting opponents or undermining election integrity, served as a noteworthy example.
Chamisa noted, “He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within Sadc, so for that reason, we honour him, and we pay our tribute to the great giant.”
He emphasized that the late Namibian President’s approach should serve as a lesson for regional leaders who face challenges in adhering to democratic, free, and fair election guidelines.
The August 2023 elections, flagged by election observer missions for not meeting local, regional, and international standards, prompted Chamisa’s party to advocate for a rerun, though without success.
Despite leaving the opposition party he unveiled in January 2022, Chamisa has not disclosed his next political move.

Yesterday, Siziba shared images of their meeting in Mashonaland East with hundreds of people clad in blue outfits in attendance, in a move that shows how the yet to be named movement is already popular among the masses.
Chamisa resigned from CCC saying the movement had been hijacked by the ruling party and is yet to announce the name of his new movement.
Posting on Twitter, Siziba had this to say;
“We have arrived in Mashonaland East Province to converse with Citizens in this part of the country. In the face of great assault to authentic politics in this country- we stand tall! From Uzumba to Chikombo to Mudzi- Citizens are clear- they continue to pronounce the leadership of President Chamisa. We are thankful to these drivers of Alternative politics in communities. We keep moving- until victory.”

An American citizen, Austin Ray (50), has been fined US$300 for unlawfully escaping custody and entering the country without proper authorization.
Ray appeared before Magistrate Ruth Moyo facing accusations of violating the Immigration Act and escaping from legal custody.
According to the state prosecutor, Nomsa Kangara, the incident occurred on February 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, when Ray disembarked from an Airlink flight at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.
Upon reaching the immigration checkpoint, Ray presented his American passport with the intention of applying for a holiday visa.
However, it was revealed in court documents that Ray lacked the necessary written authorization from the minister, a requirement for entry.
Consequently, he was denied entry and detained in the Immigration temporary holding cells for impending deportation.
Allegations suggest that Ray managed to escape from lawful custody at the airport and illicitly entered the country before being apprehended by authorities.
Masvingo Provincial Magistrate Farai Gwitima has acquitted 66 villagers, who had been on trial for illegally occupying state land without authority.
The 66 villagers had been on trial at Masvingo Magistrates Court after they were arrested on 22 January 2024 by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers and charged for occupying gazetted land without lawful authority as defined in section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.
During trial, prosecutors alleged that the 66 villagers, who include some aged over 70 years, unlawfully held, used or occupied part of Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo province, which is deemed to be state land.
The prosecutors, who stated that the complainant in the matter was Charity Mumera, the Deputy Director in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, claimed that the villagers illegally occupied pieces of state land from 2000 to date in contravention of section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.
But the 66 villagers were on Thursday 22 February 2024 found not guilty and acquitted at the close of the prosecution case by Magistrate Gwitima, who ruled that prosecutors had failed to prove the existence of a government gazette entitling government to ownership of the pieces of the land allegedly occupied by the rural dwellers, which is an essential element of the alleged offence.
The 66 villagers, who were out of prison custody on bail, were represented by Frank Chirairo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
They had initially been charged for settling within a prohibited dam basin as defined in section 56(20) of the Water Act, wherein prosecutors alleged that they had unlawfully held, used or occupied Lake Mutirikwi basin, which is a prohibited dam basin.
The charges were later amended to contravening section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.
Harare Men Charged for Impersonating CID Officers in Fraudulent Scheme
In a shocking turn of events, two men from Harare have been dragged to court over allegations of impersonating Criminal Investigations Department (CID) police officers and engaging in fraudulent activities. Innocent Chimutsi, aged 44, and Tawanda Marabada, 36, found themselves before Harare Magistrate Mr. Dennis Mangosi, facing two counts of impersonation. The magistrate granted each of the accused US$100 bail, with their case remanded to April 4, pending trial.
The duo reportedly entangled themselves in a deceitful web in January 2024, when Andsen Patson stumbled upon a Facebook advertisement they had posted. This advert falsely offered Certificates of Sponsorship (COS) for individuals aiming to travel to the United Kingdom. Patson, eager to secure a COS for his wife’s travel plans, fell prey to their scheme. He transferred a hefty deposit of 4,000 British Pounds out of the total charge of 5,500 British Pounds to the fraudsters, following an agreement to settle the balance upon receipt of the COS. The payment was made through Patson’s uncle, who resides in the UK.
The plot thickened when Patson received what was purported to be an offer letter and the COS via a WhatsApp account. However, his excitement turned to dismay upon discovering that the COS was counterfeit during his wife’s visa application process. Attempts to reconnect with Chimutsi and Marabada proved futile, leading to a frustrating silence from the accused parties.
The situation took an even more bizarre turn on February 20, when Chimutsi, using the same Facebook account, reached out to Patson. This time, he deceitfully claimed to be a CID detective investigating the case—a case that Patson had never reported to the police. Sensing the anomaly, Patson consulted officers at Harare Central Police, who devised a sting operation.
Under police surveillance, Chimutsi brazenly demanded US$100 from Patson, allegedly for fuel expenses to recover the lost money, along with an additional demand of 500 British Pounds as compensation upon recovery. The trap was set for a meeting at the Monomutapa Building. The rendezvous led to the apprehension of Chimutsi and Marabada by ZRP Harare Central police officers, exposing their charade as fake detectives.

According to the State’s presentation, Ray was previously issued a notice requiring him to leave Zimbabwe by February 7, 2024, but he had failed to comply.
Lacking the necessary written authorization from the Minister to enter Zimbabwe, Ray was denied entry and subsequently placed in a temporary holding facility at the airport pending deportation. However, Ray’s situation took a dramatic turn when he unlawfully exited the holding cell and entered the country without a valid permit, thereby also escaping from lawful custody.
The court heard detailed accounts of how Ray managed to tamper with the cell’s locking mechanism, facilitating his unauthorized entry into Zimbabwe. This act of defiance not only violated the country’s Immigration Act but also raised serious concerns about the security measures at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

In a distressing event that has deeply unsettled the Umguza community in Matabeleland North, a local businessman, who has requested anonymity for safety reasons, endured a night of sheer terror when armed robbers invaded his shop last Wednesday.
The ordeal began with what the businessman described as “the unmistakable sound of a gun” that abruptly disturbed his sleep. Compelled by fear and concern, he made his way to the shop, only to be met with a scene far exceeding his worst fears. “I was greeted by the horrifying sight of my wife and children on the floor, with three armed men towering over them,” he recounted, still visibly shaken by the memory.
The situation quickly escalated when one of the intruders struck him on the back of the head with the butt of a pistol, threatening to shoot. “One of the gunmen hit me viciously on the back of the head and threatened to shoot me if I didn’t comply,” he said, recalling the terrifying moment.
Following their demands, the robbers instructed him to lie on the floor alongside his family. “They demanded cash and cellphones, leaving us no choice but to comply in fear for our lives,” he explained. The criminals managed to flee with US$100 and two cellphones, leaving the family in a state of shock and trauma.
The businessman immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to a swift investigation and the arrest of 32-year-old Makhosini Mathobela. “We are doing everything in our power to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act,” a police spokesperson stated, confirming the ongoing efforts to track down the remaining suspects.
Mathobela, found in possession of a pistol, has been charged with armed robbery. He appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga, pleading not guilty to the charges. “The accused has been remanded in custody until February 26, as we continue our investigation,” the magistrate announced, signaling the judiciary’s resolve in dealing with the case.

Former Warriors midfielder Khama Billiat has found a new home, completing a deal with ambitious Premier Soccer League side Yadah.
The Harare-based club is poised to officially introduce the player during an unveiling ceremony in Harare scheduled for this Thursday.
Billiat, who arrived in the country on Tuesday evening, is set to reignite his career at the Miracle Boys at the age of 33.
Despite interest from other clubs such as Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum, Manica Diamonds, and CAPS United, Yadah managed to sway the midfielder with a compelling offer.

THE two children who were electrocuted in Kuwadzana suburb of Harare on Monday have been buried at Mbudzi Cemetery, with the family and community battling to come to terms with the incident.
What was supposed to be a normal morning for the Makwindi family, has left the Kuwadzana community in shock as two of the children were electrocuted in their sleep.
Junior Makwindi (4) and Tinotenda Tineyi Maketo (6) were electrocuted after getting into contact with an upright refrigerator in a room they were sleeping.
Fighting tears, Faith Makwindi, an aunt to the deceased, narrated the sad incident.
“Junior and Tinotenda were sleeping in the dining room together with other children. I woke up early and was doing the dishes outside. I then sent Tino who was also awake to wake the other two up and get ready for school.
When he tried lifting Junior up, he felt the electrical current and dropped him on the floor and came out to call me. I went inside to see when I started shaking them and they were not responsive,” she said.
“I them called Gogo who stays next door who came in and looked at them and told me to take them to the clinic.
We carried them to the clinic not knowing they were already dead. When we got there, the nurses pronounced them dead. I’m still in shock and hurt as I’m the one who raised them and was a mother to them. Their mother is my sister, but I was the one staying with them.”
Their grandfather, Mr Ignatius Makwindi who was at work on the fateful day, is yet to come to terms with the shocking incident.
“I left home for work on Monday morning, but before I got to work, I received news of their death. The fridge is still new and I don’t understand how they were electrocuted. ZESA has since disconnected electricity so that they ascertain what really happened,” he narrated.
The family has been robbed of two innocent lives that will never reach their full potential nor will their laughter and echoes be felt in the home.

Chamisa was Thursday seen at the Namibian Embassy in Harare, paying his condolences following the death of the country’s President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on 04 February this year.
Speaking to journalists after he signed a condolence book at the Namibian Embassy, Chamisa said he was representing millions of Zimbabweans who support him. He said:
I am here precisely representing the people of Zimbabwe who believe in the alternative and who have supported and continue to support [me].
You are aware that we recently held our elections, the 23 August 2023 elections. Over two million people voted.
It is those voices I carry, so I don’t need a political party as I come… It’s not about politics, it’s about honouring a giant.
You are aware that President Hage Geinngob was familiar to me, in my capacity as a leader, as a young African, but more importantly in the context of SADC.
So I am here to pay my condolences to this giant, to this great icon, to this doyen of democracy, to the man who contributed so much, not just to Namibia but also to Africa, and not just to Africa but to humanity.
He made a difference. He was a democrat. He was a believer in justice and freedom and he did not arrest opponents, he did not incarcerate those who differed with him.
He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within SADC, so for that reason we honour him and we are coming here to pay our tribute to the great giant and to say, that he has laid the framework, he has created the path, and ours is to walk in his footsteps.
Quizzed on his next move after resigning from CCC which he founded in January 2022, Chamisa said:
Once we are ready, like I said, I am going to give Zimbabweans a clear direction.
Chamisa announced his resignation and dissociation from CCC on 25 January, saying the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF through its proxies.
