“You Are Not Serious”: Prof Moyo Tears Into CCC

By A Correspondent- Self exiled Political Science Professor, Jonathan Moyo has told the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa that the party should have sought electoral reforms a day after the 2018 elections if it was “serious.”

Moyo’s remarks come as CCC announced that it will launch its “Electoral Reform Blueprint” on Thursday 29 September 2022 (today), a few months before the harmonised elections scheduled for 2023.

Moyo said:

As electoral reform experiences around Africa show, serious opposition political players seek meaningful electoral reforms the day after the last election when they have five years to spare; and not the day before the next election, when they have squandered five years!

Seeking electoral reforms when, after participating in the last election, you hibernate; say and do nothing about election reforms only to wake up on the eve of the next election with cacophonic calls for electoral reforms; smacks of political cynicism and gross incompetence.

Calls for electoral reforms should not be a desperate substitute for an election manifesto based on sound values, ideology, constitution and policy alternatives pursued by a political structure with a demonstrable capacity to govern and improve people’s lives and livelihoods.

We are disturbed to hear slain #CCC activist #MoreblessingAli’s grieving children are being followed & intimidated by @edmnangagwa’s Central Intelligence Organisation operatives. This is a despicable corrupt use of state resources. Is it not enough that you killed their mum?

Some context:

Moreblessing Ali went missing on 24 May 2022 after she had been kidnapped by Pius Mukandi, alias Jamba, at Chibhanguza Shopping Centre in Nyatsime.

Her mutilated body was found in a disused well on 11 June.

WARNING-DISTURBING PICTURES: Mavaza Was Shot In The Head And The Bullet Came Through The Cheek

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | A businessman, Mr Learnard Dahwa fired his pistol five times at Mr Wellington Mavaza hitting him from the back of the head. The bullet went through the neck coming out through the cheekbones and shuttering the jaw. Wellington was lucky to be alive.

Service manager Leonard Dahwa, 54 who owns a few mining claims was denied bail by Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere after he was charged with attempted murder. He was remanded in custody to October 12.

Welling Mavaza with bullet wound

Contrary to earlier reports, Mr Wellington Mavaza was not drinking beer at all on this day. He was coming from choir practice on his way home. Mavaza was called by a friend who asked him to pass by the bar to collect his home keys. As he arrived in the bar Mr Mavaza proceeded to the bar lady who is known to him to collect the keys.

While talking to the bar lady Mr Dahwa came fuming asking Mr Mavaza why he was talking to this lady. Seeing that Dahwa was furious Mr Mavaza remained silent but did not move as he had not collected his friend’s keys.

Dahwa went outside for a few minutes and came back holding a gun. He pointed the gun at Mr Mavaza shouting unprintable words. Sensing danger Mr Mavaza walked outside but Dahwa was not done yet. He followed Mr Mavaza outside and fired a shot. Mavaza turned around and took to his heels in a speed of lightning. Dahwa was encouraged by the running and fired four more times towards Mr Mavaza. A bullet caught up with Mavaza midair and overtook him, only that it made its way through his neck and could not stay in his mouth; made its way out through his cheek.

Not sure if he was hit as it happened so fast, Mavaza continued running, screaming like a baby calling for his mother who was miles away in Kadoma.

When Mavaza arrived home, he felt excruciating pain on his neck. It was then that he realised that he was hit. Gripped by the fear of death, he fell right in the arms of his wife who was startled by the screams.

Mavaza collapsed in the arms of his wife and both fell on the ground.
Help was summoned and Mavaza who was now unconscious was ferried to a private clinic in Warren Park 1 where he was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital.

People at the bar managed to take down the number plates of Dahwa’s car and assisted the police to apprehend Dahwa.

The National Prosecuting Authority had said Dahwa and victim Wellington Mavaza, 28, were drinking beer at Nyangani Nightclub in Warren Park 1 on September 21 when Mavaza had a misunderstanding with the bar lady. Mavaza and Dahwa do not know each other and so could not drink together. Furthermore Mavaza was not drinking, he made a dash in the bar to pick house keys of a friend from the bar lady who is known to Mavaza and his friend.

Mavaza’s twin brother, Washington Mavaza confirmed that Wellington was not drinking and he was not drunk on the day. He was shot in an unprovoked incident.

Dahwa, was arrested in a swift reaction by the CID Homicidef and was dragged to court on Monday 26th September.

Dahwa who was not happy to see Mavaza talking to the bar lady violently approached Mavaza who was cool and composed. These made Dahwa more angry and allegedly left the bar temporarily and went to his Mitsubishi Colt where he fetched his licenced FN Browning pistol.

He returned and “fired five shots towards Mavaza.” A bullet went through the back of Mavaza’s head and came out through the cheek.
After the shooting, Dahwa got in his vehicle and drove off, the court heard. He did not try to help and did not care what happened to his victim.

The alert Investigators later recovered the gun used in the shooting.

Prosecutors opposed bail, arguing that Dahwa was a flight risk. The court heard that he tried to flee when detectives went to arrest him.

One eye witness told the police that Dahwa fired several shots missing him, then when Mavaza fell down he came and shoot him whilst laying down. Dahwa is a very violent man and must rot in jail. He shoot him at point blank execution style.”

Dahwa is well known in Warren Park for his violent behaviour and that he is quick to produce his fire arm and point it to anyone who crosses his path. – [email protected]

Chiwenga Warms Up For The Presidency

By- The Zanu PF October elective congress is set to discuss President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s retirement plan.

If the succession plan succeeds, Mnangagwa will retire, and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga will take over as the country’s President in 2028.

According to Newsday, Zanu PF will do this through fast-tracking internal constitutional amendments to enable Mnangagwa’s succession roadmap in consultation with the proposed council of elders.

Insiders said the amendments to be tabled at the party congress would enable him to step down as State President after serving his two five-year terms and continue as party president.
Party sources said the council of elders would comprise Zanu PF old guard retired from government and deployed to the party to serve as advisers to the State President — effectively running government business from the party headquarters.
But it is the succession issue that Mnangagwa is said to be more interested in to avoid going the same way as his predecessor the late Robert Mugabe who was toppled in a military-assisted coup in 2017 after 37 years in power.
The council of elders will be composed of former party presidents and other “senior members”, Zanu PF secretary for legal affairs Paul Mangwana told NewsDay yesterday.
“We have a council of elders made up of former Presidents and other senior members and their duty is to advise the President and settle disputes especially among senior members,” Mangwana said.
“We have created the council of elders and it will be appointed this year,” he said without giving specific timelines.
Mnangagwa, who is understood to be consolidating his grip on the ruling party through all its structures, reportedly wants to amend the Zanu PF constitution to allow him to remain the leader of the party after his two maximum terms in office as State President expire.
But Mangwana dismissed the claims, saying that would be unconstitutional.
“That (making Mnangagwa party president beyond his maximum terms as State President) would not be consistent with the national Constitution which is the supreme law of the land and it is my duty to ensure that our party constitution does not contradict with the national Constitution,” Mangwana said.
He added: “We have made sure our constitution is in harmony with the national Constitution. The national Constitution has two presidential term limits; whereas our party constitution has no term limits, but it says whoever is party president becomes our presidential candidate for national elections so that means there is harmony.”
Mangwana also dismissed speculation that the presidential candidate as well as his deputies would be handpicked by the party leadership.
Mnangagwa assumed the Zanu PF party leadership after usurping power from Mugabe through a military-assisted coup in November 2017. Soon after assuming power, he retired party bigwigs Obert Mpofu, Patrick Chinamasa and Simbarashe Mumbengegwi among others from government and deployed them to work fulltime at the party headquarters.
The amendments to the Zanu PF constitution are coming after Mnangagwa indicated in 2019 that the ruling party would establish a war veterans league and a council of elders to restore unity and discipline in the party. The war veterans’ league was set up recently and held its inaugural conference early this month.
Meanwhile, former long-serving State Security minister and close Mugabe ally Didymus Mutasa has claimed that Mnangagwa might lose the 2023 polls after failing to douse the factional fights within the ruling party.
Mutasa, a former Zanu PF secretary for administration, made the remarks while responding to allegations that he was decampaigning former Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa in Makoni district Manicaland province by influencing Zanu PF party members to vote him out of the central committee.
Both Mutasa and Chinamasa hail from Makoni district.
Chinamasa was dressed down during a Zanu PF Makoni inter-district meeting that was held in Rusape last week, where party members requested that his central committee position be challenged in the upcoming internal party polls.
This was after Zanu PF Makoni district co-ordinating committee (DCC) chairperson Albert Nyakuedzwa attempted to impose Chinamasa on the grounds that the former Finance minister be spared as a member of the politburo.
“People are against Chinamasa since he was also the one who was behind the downfall of Mutasa as they both wanted to control the Makoni district and Manicaland as well,” a source in Makoni said.
Before his fall from grace, Mutasa was regarded as Zanu PF political Godfather in Manicaland province.
Contacted for comment yesterday, Mutasa said: “I enjoy respect not only in Makoni, but in Manicaland province and countrywide. Yes, l have heard the issue of me and Comrade Patrick Chinamasa fighting, and this is not the first time I have heard about that. But, l don’t know anything about that. I am not haunting anyone.”
He said the party leadership needed to work hard to win next year’s polls.
“I am not talking about Manicaland province, but the whole country. The party is in trouble, leaders in the party should work hard — hear me correctly, I am saying all the leaders. If they want to win, they have to stop gossiping within the party,” Mutasa said. Newsday

Mpofu Cries For Removal Of Sanctions

Tinashe Sambiri| One would be forgiven for assuming Zanu PF apparatchik Obert Mpofu is out of sync with the reality on the ground, as far as the political situation is concerned.

Mpofu, some would postulate, is deliberately running away from the fact that his beloved Zanu PF regime is plundering State resources at will.

Addressing a Zanu PF meeting on Monday, Mpofu blamed sanctions for the suffering of citizens.

He even boasted that the regime would remain in power despite the economic sanctions imposed on Harare by the “Western Forces.”

My Hubby Is Useless In Bed, Woman Tells Court

A COUPLE has been told to go on separation as a result of their failure to co-exist peacefully.

Evidence Mandaza dragged Onismas Nyazenga before Chief Chinamhora’s traditional court on Saturday.

She claimed her husband was unfairly pushing her out of their home which she also toiled to build.

She claimed Nyazenga has been threatening to kill her, together with their two minor children, with a gun he uses at work.

“I am now living in fear after his threats,” said Mandaza.

In his defence, the husband accused Mandaza of disrespecting him adding that he was s_3x starved.

“Ndikauya kumba ndichibva kubasa anoramba kurara neni achiti akaneta, anogara achindiudza kuti masoja anopinda pinda manje neni ipota neko tisangane, ukahura neni ndinohurawo,” he said.

Mandaza interjected saying Nyazenga has an er3ctile dysfunction.

“He has a weak er3ction, he can’t last long in bed. “At one point he used herbs but still he is weak in bed,” she said.

Village head, Mr Chinyoka of Maponga Village, testified as a witness that he caught Nyazenga with a bag and he suspects it had a gun.

The chief then ruled that Mandaza should go back to her parents’ home. Nyazenga was ordered to provide the needs of their two children.

Chingoma’s Chopper Lifts Off First Time in 20 Years

Daniel Chingoma’s home-made chopper finally took to the “skies” yesterday, albeit by default.

Dubbed “Zimcopter” by the largely self-taught engineer, the chopper was lifted by a local contractor operating at the Mbudzi Road interchange to pave way for construction activities.

Chingoma’s chopper being hoisted

Made from scrap metal, a Lexus V8 engine with mirrors from a bakkie and a tobacco thermometer in the cockpit, the chopper has been grounded since 2003 when he made it.

The Harare City Council confirmed the development, but said it was not responsible for the lifting of the chopper.

“We heard about the issue, but we are not the ones who lifted the chopper from the site.

“The contractor is the one who removed it,” said a Harare City Council source.

Prior to the removal of the chopper, Chingoma had pleaded with the City Fathers to provide him with an alternative place to display his beloved chopper.

On Monday, Chingoma told us: “I cannot stop national development, but my appeal is for an alternative place for myself and my helicopter.

“The City of Harare has seen my invention and they were aware of the expansion of the road but never gave me an alternative place.

“I am not going to remove the helicopter or go anywhere.

“This helicopter shows my expertise and Zimbabweans are to learn more from it.

“May relevant authorities consider this invention.”

However, Chingoma’s dreams were shattered yesterday and he now needs to find a safer place to house his chopper.

The Government is turning the Mbudzi Roundabout into a massive interchange and set of flyovers. and expanding Simon Mazorodze Road in its drive for improved infrastructure.

The major construction work will take 18 months. H Metro

Snake Kills Family

A Hurungwe man, Tapiwa Musiiwa is appealing for financial assistance to bury three members of his family who succumbed to snake bites in Karuru village last week.
Musiiwa lost his wife, daughter and nephew after they were reportedly bitten by a black mamba while fetching firewood.

Black Mamba

His wife and daughter died last Friday at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital where they were battling for life. Musiiwa’s nephew died at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Moonlight Funeral Assurance donated three coffins.

“I am appealing to well-wishers to help me ferry their bodies to our rural home to be laid to rest,” Musiiwa said in a telephone interview from Chinhoyi.

“The bodies must be ferried from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary and the other from Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital. This is a family tragedy and we are still yet to come to terms with it.”

Musiiwa’s Ecocash number is 0779 891 113

According to Musiiwa, the unfortunate incident occurred in Chikura part of Murimbika Village, near Mushangishe valley, Chief Kazangarare.

The area is about 60km north of Karoi town.

“The three were fetching firewood when the incident occurred. My daughter Nyarai (21) was the first to be bitten by the snake on the left leg. Her mother tried to assist her and she was bitten on the breast. Our nephew (Tawanda) aged 15, after sensing danger tried to flee from the scene, but the snake followed and bit him on the ankle,” said Musiiwa.

He added that efforts were made by some villagers to help the three to access medication, but it took long because the mountainous area was hard to reach by car.

They were later ferried to Karoi District Hospital before being transferred to Chinhoyi and Sally Mugabe hospitals.

Chief Abel Mbasera Chundu, who is also a Senator, offered 80 litres of fuel to the family.

“We need to help the Musiiwa family during this trying time,” said Chief Chundu.

The black mamba is a highly venomous snake capable of biting and killing 20 people in succession.— Newsday

Parliament Clerk Dismissal Demand

Opposition MPs have called on the Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda to resign after laying the blame for the dodgy laptop and desktop tender, and suspicious fuel allocations at the august House on his doorstep.
Chokuda appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (Pac) on Tuesday and Members of Parliament (MPs) grilled him over a computer tender awarded to two companies, Blinart Investments P/L to supply Parliament with 173 laptops for a total of US$1 602 755,77, and another company, Mid-End Computers to supply 79 desktops.

The laptops were priced at US$9 200 each, while a single desktop was priced above US$3 000.

Parliament then cancelled the tenders after a public outcry.

Tempers flared on Tuesday during the Pac meeting after Parliament procurement director Stanley Bhebe told Pac that the procurement processes were “transparent and honest.”

“The moment we start the bidding process from the day we advertise to the end we don’t speak to any supplier even if we were interacting on other things,” Bhebe said.

“Also, when we give information, we give everyone the same information so that they bid. In this regard, as a barometer to show that the public has confidence in our tendering system, we had 92 bidders and 30 bidders submitted their bids. It is highly unlikely in any other procurement entity in the public service. If you also investigate, you will find that they are very confident.”

Independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa immediately questioned how a single laptop could have cost US$9 200.

“What kind of laptop costs US$9 200? Why do you want to anger us?”

Chokuda told Pac that he was not aware of the prices until September 9.

However, it emerged that on August 29, he wrote to Blinart confirming that it had won the tender at the prices it had bid.

Mliswa accused Chokuda of wasting time.

“At times you must be honest to say I made a mistake, not for you to take us around, waste the country’s time and put this institution into disrepute. You signed this letter on August 29. The best you could do is to say it has a fake signature.

“You don’t deserve — as chief accounting officer of Parliament to sit here. You must pack your bags and go. This Parliament is in a mess and our own reputation is at stake because of you,” Mliswa said.

Kuwadzana East MP Charlton Hwende seconded Mliswa’s call for Chokuda to resign. -Newsday

Priest Caught In Threesome ?

A CATHOLIC priest clashed with two səx workers, who wanted to extort him, at St Peter’s in Highfield on Sunday.

Father Nhika was reported to have engaged an armed member of security forces to threaten the səx workers only identified as Memory and Trish.

Nhika recovered US$50 and the two were taken to Machipisa Police Station where they were detained.

It could not be established how much Nhika lost to Memory and Trish.

Trish told H-Metro they were forced to surrender money, at gunpoint.

She denied extorting the man of cloth claiming Nhika was trying to evade paying Memory for ‘services rendered.’

“Father Nhika has been our client for some time and I saved his number in my mobile phone as Daddy Legend,” said Trish.

“He hooked up with Memory along Baines Avenue and asked for another woman.

“Memory recommended me and we had a threesome.

“He then promised Memory that he would pay later.

“Memory had a reaction on her mouth and demanded her money and some money for medical examination.

“Father Nhika asked us to hire a taxi from the Avenues, where we stay, to his place at St Peter’s.

“Upon arriving at St Peter’s we were confronted by an armed man and he forced us, together with the taxi driver, to lie down at gunpoint and surrender money we had.

“He then led us to Machipisa Police Station,” said Trish.

Trish and Memory were later transferred from Machipisa Police Station to Glen Norah Police Station.

The complainant was reported to have tried to order the release of Trish and Memory but the two vowed to seek justice before the courts of law.

“They pointed a gun at us and led us to a police station but now they want us to be released without trial.

“We are not going to entertain that.

“We want justice to take its course because we never extorted Father Nhika as alleged.

“He must pay for the services rendered and meet medical costs for Memo, that is all.

“Zvake zvekuzivana nevanhu vanepfuti ndezvake haisinguva yehondo,” said Trish.

The two are expected to appear in court today.

Nhika refused to entertain H-Metro.

Mnangagwa To Hand Over Power

Newsday

50 000 Demand For Sikhala’s Immediate Release

By- Over 48 000 people, including Zimbabweans and foreigners, have signed a petition calling for Harare to end persecution on opposition legislators Job Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole and 14 others.

The petition was generated on September 9 by the Platform for Concerned Citizens (PCC) led by, among others, academic Ibbo Mandaza, businessmen Strive Masiyiwa and Mutumwa Mawere, author Tsitsi Dangarembga, scholars Tony Reeler, Philani Zamchiya, politician Simba Makoni and Alpha Media Holdings chairman Trevor Ncube.
“It is evident that the petition has unveiled the concerns of Zimbabwean citizens about the denial of bail and continued incarceration of these Zimbabweans. At the time of writing this petition, 48 092 people have joined and signed,” partly read a follow-up petition submitted to the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda yesterday.
The initial petition had just over 100 signatories.
“The vast majority of those who have signed are Zimbabweans, both from within the country and from the diaspora, but they have been joined by the citizens of many other countries. In short, the petition has world-wide concern, and people are continuing to sign,” the petition added.
Sikhala has spent over 100 days in remand prison since his arrest on June 14 charged with incitement to violence following violent skirmishes at the funeral of murdered opposition activist Moreblessing Ali.
He is charged alongside fellow opposition legislator Sithole and 14 other Nyatsime residents.
They have been denied bail countless times. Sikhala said he was facing political persecution for speaking out against human rights abuses.
But the courts insist that he is a repeat offender when denying him bail.
Recently, Information permanent secretary Ndavaningi Mangwana said government would not intervene in Sikhala’s case citing separation of power between the Judiciary and the Executive.
“Today, we have informed the President about the progress of the petition and the very large number of Zimbabweans (who) believe there is a miscarriage of justice. It is our hope that the President will understand the concerns of the citizens of Zimbabwe and makes plain the commitment of the government of Zimbabwe to constitutionalism and the rule of law, and we shortly see this miscarriage of justice being rapidly corrected,” Mandaza said.
“In our statement we made plain that we do not expect your Excellency to directly interfere in the operations of the Zimbabwean courts, but rather to insist that your government directs its agencies to strictly follow the Constitution and the laws of the country.
“Here we would additionally point out that many lawyers in the country do not believe that the denial of bail and continued incarceration of these people is warranted on the facts as these are publicly available.”

Sikhala Confined In Old Gukurahundi Holding Cell

By James Gwati- The jailed opposition CCC’s deputy chairman, Job Sikhala, is being kept in the same cell which held top ZAPU members during the Gukurahundi era, a witness of the period has revealed.

David Coltart, another CCC top official who witnessed Gukurahundi said the Chikurubi prison cell in which Sikhala is being held in, is the same which housed the former Home Affairs minister and top ZAPU cadre Dumiso Dabengwa.

Dabengwa and many other Joshua Nkomo senior officials were jailed by Mugabe between 1982-1987 on false allegations of insurgence.

Posted Coltart on Wednesday:

Sikhala is being held in Dumiso Dabengwa’s old cell. Sithole is in Lookout Masuku’s old cell. This is the equivalent of the preventive detention of the 1970 & 80s which enabled Zanu PF to hold Masuku & Dabengwa for years even though they were innocent.

Army Warns Of Coup Tankers

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces would like to inform the general public that it will be conducting a training exercise in Bindura, Mbire Muzarabani, Rushinga, Shamva and Mt Darwin districts of Mashonaland Central Province, from 22 September to 21 October 2022. The training exercise is meant to sharpen and perfect operational skills so as to enhance the Zimbabwe Defence Forces capability to fulfil its mandate. The exercise involves the movement of a large number of troops and vehicles from Harare into Mashonaland Central Province. Therefore the general populace should not be surprised by these movements.

Wadyajena Quizzes Formerly Agribank Over Controversial Appointment Of Senior Officials

THE Agriculture Finance Corporation Holdings appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development where they were quizzed on the controversy surrounding the appointment of senior officials.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands, Agriculture Fisheries Water and Rural Development this Tuesday, the AFC Board provided conflicting views on the criteria used to appoint AFC Holdings Chief Executive Officer after it emerged that he was the third best in interviews.

“In what capacity did this appointment come when the first candidate scored 98.7% on the interviews?” probed the chairperson Justice Mayor Wadyajena

“We had shortlisted the first six candidates and recommended to the board for the appointment of the first one, if he had declined the offer, the second best candidate would have been hired,” responded the AFC Human resource chair

Did the act specify who should be appointed and what was the recommendation from the HR committee?” asked legislators.

“We had the list and recommended the first candidate with the best score. I can not respond whether I was happy or not,’ said
Dr shadreck Makombe AFC Holdings Human Resources Chairperson.

Asked to furnish the committee with the letter of appointment from the parent ministry, the board chairman had more than a single definite response.

“Mr Chair, we ran out of money to prepare the number of documents for you we had short notice, we only submitted the list to the ministry where we also got the final name of the one appointed,” said James Mutizwa, Chairman of AFC Holdings.

AFC Holdings Board is now expected to re-appear before the committee as a whole after failing to provide all the requisite details, including the Chief Executive Officer’s resume.

The Dark Side Of Hopewell Chin’ono: Serious Frauds Destroying Zimbabwe Forever | FULL TEXT

By Simba Chikanza | Hopewell Chin’ono exposes a lot of corruption, but how much beyond what earns him an award and retains him the title ‘Daddy of Hope’ : [in Shona, ‘Mudhara Vachauya’?] How much does he give people beyond what is convenient for his personal show-off?

What are his blind spots? While there are reports of money laundering and cheque fraud in the UK committed under different names between 1997 and 2001, long before Hopewell Chin’ono had fled the UK for Zimbabwe, where he changed his own name 4 times in 24 months, in this feature, I list only what I have seen with my own eyes and experienced over the last five (5) years since the early days when Mr Hopewell Rugoho-Chin’ono began pushing us to expose one of his close female friend’s misconduct.

Hopewell-Chinono…

ENDANGERING JOURNALISTS.

What triggered this investigation was the concern over the safety of journalists endangered by him, one of whom is the Newsday paper’s editor Wisdon Mudzungairi, Mr Hopewell Chin’ono accuses of confessing to knowledge of bribes in newsrooms.

Having since 29th July 2022 given Mr Hopewell Chin’ono four (4) weeks to address his ‘bribe’ allegations, I thought just needed a short apology; I ended up physically approaching him over his false accusations against scores of journalists, he says are bribed because they do not do rolling court reporting, stressing that he should urgently consider their physical security when they get arrested of which they will be in a worse prison predicament than his which did not involve beatings. I asked him this at the sidelines of a Thomas Mapfumo-Toky-Macheso show in Leicester, UK on 29th Aug.

2 days later on the 31st August 2022, after I had whistleblown concerning his conduct, Hopewell Chin’ono wrote, replying to a journalists’ WhatsApp group inquiry, saying: “There is an issue that must also be addressed; Simba is lying that I said Wisdom took bribes.

“I never said that. I said that Wisdom explained to us the bribe problem in the industry due to low salaries.

“Wisdom knows this and when I spoke to him yesterday he even reminded me that he said it in Alexandra Park where there were many other journalists.”

No editor I know any where has confirmed ever talking to Hopewell Chin’ono about taking bribes over Wadyajena, and none at all over any other issue or during meetings.

“Of course there’s nothing like that. I suppose he’s got a very fertile sense of imagination,” adds Mr Mudzungairi, who says if there is anything he would have done surrounding the topic of bribes, it is to highlight how Newsday runs a self regulation mechanism that helps maintain professionalism at all times.

Furthermore, at no time had I, Simba Chikanza, in any way stated that Chin’ono said Mudzungairi took bribes, and my statements are in the public domain in both broadcast and printed form. My verbal posture was also the same at the Leicester show on 29 August 2022.

I asked Chin’ono in reply to please “address the matter Hopewell. Don’t change the English. You clearly said Wisdom confessed about brown envelopes affecting newsrooms.”

Why can’t you respond? asked another journo.

Another scribe quipped in, asking, “On the issue of live updates in our courts. How many times were you reprimanded in court for using your phone? I think on that one, you should know that is why at times, we delay updating court stories.”

To this, Chin’ono replied in a voice message which he posted saying: “guys I have work to do, I have no time to deal with Simba’s issues, he is slandering me let him go ahead. I know how I am going to deal with it legally. Simba is a liar, I posted about the issue of bribes being offered to journalists and my followers came on my posts and started naming him, because I guess people were not happy with the fact that he was dealing with the Susan Mutami issue, and he phoned me and he said he is worried that people were talking about him, and I said I am not talking about you, it’s a well known issue that journalists are offered bribes, and then he asked me to write something else to exonerate him. And I said there was no need for me to exonerate anybody when I am talking about an industry wide issue. I think if people have issues with me they need to direct them rather than talking behind my back. I am very thankful to the person who added me to this group, if there is any substantive issue I am happy to address it, I don’t want to be here more than I need to be.”

Chin’ono totally avoided the issue concerning his false allegations against journalists he wants to do rolling reporting; otherwise, they have been bribed, and he swiftly exited the WhatsApp group after being challenged with an audio recording of him audibly evading his comments against Wisdom Mudzungairi and also showing no concern for the safety of the journalists he is falsely accusing.

‘This is you speaking at Lance Guma’s Red car… you show you DON’T CARE a thing about the physical safety of your own colleagues, Wisdom, who you’ve endangered here,’ I asked him in writing, to which he replied saying, “The fact that you recorded me without my consent shows how unprofessional you are and I have no time for you. I think I have addressed the real issues.
Good day.”

Discussion on journalists WhatsApp Group-pic

He exited the WhatsApp group in a huff without addressing the issue of the safety of journalists whose life he has endangered, and days after his allegations, Mudzungairi was arrested. My request to Chin’ono in the four (4) weeks running into August was: please consider the plight of journalists like you who could easily be tortured when they are imprisoned, unlike in your case, which did not involve torture.

Journo group discusssion-pic

After this, Mr Wisdom Mudzungairi told me that contrary to Chin’ono’s claims, there had not been any phone contact for several months. It was suggested to me that Chin’ono is attacking the Newsday brand so that he can promote a rival newspaper that was recently launched a few months before and that he has business interests in.

All these experiences made me to start wanting to understand what exactly Chin’ono is pursuing, the path of journalism or if there is something else. In my inquiry trying to obtain who he is, I found multiple identities and names, four (4) different ones between 1997 and 2001, of the self-same individual, the ‘Dem Loot’ singer. – this is the subject of an upcoming major investigation.

What is Hopewell Chin’ono gaining in all this if it is not fraudulent scoops? In his conduct, unless it is a unique case of mental illness, is Mr Hopewell Chin’ono not making fraudulent representations against industry colleagues to obtain financial and or political gain?

-ELECTORAL FRAUD AND ENCOURAGING OPPOSITION TO RECEIVE MONEY FROM MNANGAGWA SON.

I have personally experienced and witnessed Mr Hopewell Chin’ono  covering up evidence exposing the looming vote rigging and election violence in the upcoming 2023 elections.

Mr Chin’ono tephoned me from a never-used-before phone number at 9.48am in 15th May 2022, soon after I had posted my tweet (alerting Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa that she should consider finishing her interview in which I among other things expose her deployment of a well known notorious convicted armed robber to the Directorship of State House properties) when I demanded that he first disclose who he is.

“Please introduce self,” I asked, to which he wrote back saying,

“Calling to let you know that this is my new number.
Hope.”

I then picked up the phonecall upon which time he told me that my tweet over Auxillia Mnangagwa “is blackmail.”

I reiterated to him saying the Twitter communication was perfect industry practice, which is the declaring of a deadline before going to print, to which Chin’ono started quoting ghost accounts on Twitter who were also suggesting my tweet was blackmail. He continued arguing for several times until he said I should delete it as it would hinder relations between Mrs Mnangagwa and the media.

Mrs Mnangagwa has never at any time in her career enjoyed good relations with the media.

I not knowing Mr Chin’ono’s motive, decided to meet him half way by deleting though albeit reposting an edited message. I would only discover to my disappointment weeks later that I had been duped by him- He was not interested in any journalism, and his call was just to save Mrs Mnangagwa from the demand of finishing the interview.

He even ignored my statement below which he could have updated his followers if he has the interests of the news hungry masses at heart.

My statement was the following, which was my last message on the day:

“For the record: this was NOT an off record, in fact the FL called me via video herself on the official newsdesk phone.
2ndly, she broke trust by threatening me during the interview.

3rdly, there has never been any trust between her and the media since the coup, no one has ever been allowed to critique her.

4thly, I did not threaten Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa other than informing her of what is inevitable, as it is standard practice to notify a source of the deadline before a story is published so they can ensure they have contributed fully. Unfortunately Twitter character space doesn’t allow for all these words to be typed.

5thly, Mrs Mnangagwa knows well the issues at stake are beyond the single one that she cites. They, as the video reveals, also relate to one of armed robbers she has deployed to strategic national positions which placings now endanger the security of millions of Zimbabweans.

6thly, Mrs Mnangagwa also knowing well that the matter at stake is the ongoing looting of millions of USD’s of Harare ratepayer money, is just being unprofessional and I contend, downright criminal

7thly, my mention of Auxillia’s house was no threat but just a stating of the conclusions the public will reach when they notice that her claim that she ‘sells tomatoes for a living’, totally contradicts the 24 karat golden chair she is sitting on. The video shows jewellery and other expensive things in the interior of the house, which thing threatens her image as an honest person. I follow the rule that you have to seek to protect your source’s dignity and wellbeing, before your own.

Simba Chikanza.”

I also have audio recordings of Mr Benson Muneri, who is seen with Mr Chin’ono many times, making clear demands that I do not ask Auxillia Mnangagwa ‘hard questions, ‘ and that I should from now on, only send her questions directly to him. This is so despite the fact that Benson Muneri appears nowhere as her official representative. He was however the first person to telephone me within 10 minutes of my videocall with Mrs Mnangagwa on her behalf, followed by Hopewell Chin’ono, the following day, after Muneri’s interventions on behalf of Auxillia Mnangagwa had failed.

Earlier on, on the 15th March 2022, Mr Chin’ono was involved in a Twitter brawl as he defended Hotplacegrill businessman and director, Benson Muneri’s donations to the opposition CCC party on the Twitter website.

He labelled warnings about the dangers of donations from the Mnangagwa family, “silly arguments.”

He added saying, ” CCCZimbabwe needs USD150,000 for bi elections.”

Part of the Twitter brawl as Hopewell Chin’ono stated there is nothing wrong with the CCC receiving ZANU PF money- pic

Chin’ono was replying to Twitter handle Foxlion2028. Is Chin’ono truly working in favour of the opposition to help it win, or it’s all a counter intelligence operation?

Part of the argument as Hopewell Chin’ono said there is nothing unusual with CCC getting money from ZANU PF companies.- pic.

The Auxillia Mnangagwa Video LEAK Hopewell Chin’ono Doesn’t Want You See.

Contrary to a few people the likes of Mr. Clarence Miranze, I did not at all shelve my Auxillia Mnangagwa story, even though Mr. Hopewell Chin’ono told me to delete the tweet, which I reinstated within 30seconds. I did this as I also emphasised to him that this is because the people must know of the armed robbers positioned to destory their future.

State Agents do not want the people to know that the hiding place of the 1 August 2018 terrorists, State House is now under the executive Directorship of a convicted armed robber, Mr Paradzayi Kutyauripo, who isnalso Auxillia Mnangagwa’s  brother.

I also provide herewith evidence of Mr Chin’ono’s call to me on the 15th May, my response in writing to him, plus also audio recordings of Mr Chin’ono’s friend Benson Muneri (pic) , the other person who telephoned me, also trying stop me from informing the masses of this great expose the population have to know before the upcoming 2023 elections.

After my correspondence, Mr Chin’ono who publicly claims he wants the opposition to win the 2023 elections, further demonstrated his ploy by deciding not to reveal the legal reasons why the nation must know of the contents of Mrs Mnangagwa’s disclosures.

Comment by the late President Robert Mugabe’s spokesperson, Jealousy Mawarire- pic

4 months later, Mr Chin’ono continues to ignore my response, despite sounding as if he was interested in the Auxillia Mnangagwa expose.’ He however choses to play algorithms and promote himself as a “Daddy of Hope, ” in Shona, Mudhara vachauya.

-CHANGING OWN SURNAME 3 TIMES

Mr Hopewell Chin’ono publicly announces saying he worked for BBC in the year 2000 under the name Hopewell M Chingono, which he changed a year later to Hopewell Mukusha, and then in the same year he registered a new name, Hopewell Rugoho-Chin’ono as reflected in this document. Effectively, all this means he changed his name 3 times in under 24 months. Did this man truly work for BBC in 2000, and is not trying to stitch up events so to blanket-cover the reports which state he was in fact involved in high level crime during this time?

BBC work ID with third name. Source: Hooewell Chin’ono,  Twitter, Facebook

govt registry department deed of change of name – source: Hopewell Chin’ono, Facebook, Twitter

sef published explanation that his father is the one who ordered the name change

He has presented a BBC work ID with his face thereon and the name, Hopewell M Chingono, and then at another date, presented a govt deed of name change which officially states that his name in 2001 was not at all Hopewell M Chingono, it was just Hopewell Mukusha  [No middle name], the latter which correlates with data records at the Zim national registry. In less than 2 years, he changes name from not M. Chingono, but from Hopewell Mukusha, to adopt a new family surname, Rugoho-Chin’ono.

To date there is not a single trace at the BBC to back Mr Chin’ono’s claims that he was a staff member at the BBC in Jan 2000, and scores of ex-employees of the broadcaster contacted by ZimEye do not remember him at any time in Jan 2000. If he was truly employed by the entity in any capacity during that month, it will further raise eyebrows of how and why could have wielded a name that is totally different from his birth record and his passport. This will only make clear that he actually traveled around UK with a third identity that has no correlation at all with data in the Zimbabwe National Registry. This reporter has had access to data records of the man and his immediate family names.

There is a fourth identity being investigated and whose findings will be reported on in due course. How and why does a real journalist working for the public broadcaster change his identity by three (3) names in less than 24months? Is this all because of a single  instruction from his father, as Mr Chin’ono suggests in his Twitter uploads?

Is a person who changes names three times, supports ZANU PF terrorists in the 2018 elections to kill scores of Zimbabweans, and in 2022 tells the opposition to accept ZANU PF money, an honest contributor to democratic change?

-BENSON MUNERI AUDIO LEAKS. I below avail audios of Hopewell Chin’ono’s referral for the opposition’s 2023 election funding, Benson Muneri as he announced that he is Auxillia Mnangagwa’s son, and was busy attention to obfuscate the contents of the Auxillia Mnangagwa interview revelations. (streaming at 4pm 28th Aug).

-SUPPORTING FRIEND’S FRAUDS ABUSE OF COURTS.

The most disturbing  development around Mr Hopewell Chin’ono which is going to affect a stable Zimbabwe surrounds his support for his personal friend Fadzayi Mahere, an individual who he has personally exposed over dishonesty, among other areas of misconduct since 2017.

What is most disgusting about Chin’ono is how he used to telephone us for numerous hours to get us to warn the world about Mahere, and after we started doing this, he has begun calling us ZANU PF over none but his own disclosures. All this is happening at a time when there are rumours that he has had an affair with Miss Mahere and has now wants to block the public interest disclosure because he has reconciled with her; and in this, Chin’ono is supporting Mahere harrass another Zimbabwean woman, the book author Petina Gappah, and assisting his friend abuse the courts. In my personal discussions with Chin’ono, he does not deny that Mahere is a monster set to destroy the nation per his own investigative disclosures, submitted to us.

Chin’ono was the first to reveal that Mahere was truly given preferential entrance into the University Of Zimbabwe for an undergraduate degree through her father, Stephen Mahere’s connections, which matter the lawyer is abusing the courts to argue against Gappah’s re-hashs.

Below is our latest discussion over Mahere, afterwhich he never sought to engage after I advised him not to abuse the opposition following to rally behind Mahere’s personal misconduct.

The case Chinono is suddenly assisting Mahere to fight against Petina Gappah pertains her claim that she is a person of good and honest character (which Chin’ono himself has revealed the opposite) and she has been defamed by Gappah.

Those who in 2020 suggested Mahere be made the opposition spokesperson advised the party on the basis that her father, Stephen Mahere is a Christian who is now a retired permanent secretary.  But, Mahere has a very dangerous family background, her father being the only permanent secretary to be fired by ZANU PF leadership for being an activist who is against progress and one who has a record of authorising the torture and expulsion of teachers on the grounds of supporting the opposition then known as the MDC party and MDC Alliance subsequently. Much of this is revealed in documents at the  ministry of Education and also cited in former minister David Coltart’s autobiography.

– DID HOPEWELL STAGE FAKE POLICE ARRESTS?

There is a prison officer who has suggested that Hopewell Chin’ono since his first imprisonement in 2020, has staged several fake arrests in order to build his profile as a human rights activist, a hero, who is doing none other than the act of exposing corruption, over which he is being victimised.

“That arrest was fake and no one touched him in the prisons you can even ask him and cross check with scores of other staff members and prison mates alike.

“He was arrested over exposing Obadiah Moyo, the latter whose arrest was also animated, and you will notice that Hopewell has never even talked about how fake the arrest of the then Health Minister was, ” the officer who requested anonymity further suggested.

If Chin’ono  truly staged the arrests, this will not be a new phenomenon, as it has been happening for over 38 years (1983 – 2022) from the days of the fake dissident Richard Gwesela who was used to help aid the government agenda (appearing to be exposing its corruption and abuses) to the post 2018 period of the anti government activist Tinashe Jonas who even launched a party of his own from opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa’s large following.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s uncle, Obadiah Moyo last October walked out of the High Court a free man following his year long prosecution case over corruption.

The former Health Minister is the ZANU PF leader’s uncle. Obadiah-Moyo is Emmerson Mnangagwa’s cousin, titled “uncle” or sekuru, in the Shona vernacular. He is son to Mnangagwa’s mother’s brother.

When the police arrested Obadiah Moyo over Hopewell  Chinono’s Drax expose’, the police quickly released him on Mnangagwa’s orders. The head of the Central Intelligence Organisation, Isaac Moyo is another of Obadiah Moyo’s relatives who worked together with Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi to make the case appear credible. They together went to Mnangagwa and organised that everything be staged so that he (Obadiah Moyo) is served so to manage public angers over the Draxgate scandal. The plan was that Obadiah Moyo would sleep inside the police cells, and then bail be granted (and even that was cut short – he left Rhodesville Police station soon after arrival.) The CIO Director General and Ziyambi then went to get Obadiah Moyo’s own muzukuru, cousin, Munamato Mutevedzi who is the acting Chief Magistrate. Mutevedzi was invited to come and sit on the same case and the matter had the prosecutor saying that bail is not opposed. He was charged a bail of $50,000, which is just USD380, a small amount over a case involving USD60 million.

He had to take a fall to save Mnangagwa’s son, Collins, so he is actually a hero, in Mnangagwa’s eyes at the least.

Moyo was discharged from prosecution on corruption charges for illegally awarding a multi-million-dollar contract for Covid-19 medical supplies to Drax International without going through a competitive tender process. He was facing charges of criminal abuse of office over the awarding of a US$ 60 million contract to the company that allegedly sold supplies to the Government at inflated prices. The whole case was totally expunged a year later.

Hopewell Chin’ono exposes a lot of corruption, but how much beyond what earns him an award and retains him the title ‘Daddy Hope’ : [in Shona, ‘Mudhara Vachauya’?] How much does he give people beyond what is convenient for his personal show-off or iron-fish-hook? Before I conclude this article, I am reminded that the title Daddy Hope, is the crown of a famous ZANU PF song. I am also at a struggle on why Mr Chin’ono chose such a  nickname, which is the signature of all fraudsters, tricksters, rapists, and police arrest stagers for more than  20 centuries of human history, one of whom is a Zimbabwean preacher we exposed between 2010 and 2018 leading to his conviction in 2015, and final removal from community leadership in 2018 following years of grooming women and kids for sex while hypnotising them into the ritualistic salutation, Daddy.

FULL THREAD: Biti Says RBZ Auction System Is A Vehicle For Arbitrage

The auction system continues to be vehicle of arbitrage and rent behavior. Rigged rate of 1:621 still lags behind market rate of 1:750 .There is no answer except corruption as to why there is no free float of ZW$ Significantly allocations are decreasing to US$11m from highs of $50 m

The obvious deceleration of activity on the auction is explained by the increased energy in gold coins production. Gold coins are new form of arbitrage and looting .A bank heist serving to transfer resources from public coffers to cartels. As of 22 Sept 9516 coins sold for ZWL$9 b

Gold coins are being sold in local currency at a discounted rate that is 300% below market thus creating arbitrage This explains why 95 % of purchases are in ZWL$. The @ReserveBankZIM has spend roughly US$ 18m in buying 9516 coins which it has sold at around US$10m. This is THEFT

For a country without any reserves to back its currency&current account gold coins are zany The suggestion that they are containing inflation is also fiction. Official inflation figures remain above 280% . We restate that this economy needs genuine structural reforms not mascara

We restate that the solutions are simple , dollarize, float the ZW$, remove export surrender requirements, pay workers US$ , restore pensions, deal with corruption, pursue fiscal consolidation. Fund social services. Above all attend to POLITICAL REFORMS & allow a free&fair election

CCC Activists Denied Bail By Gutu Magistrate On The Same Day ED Ally Walked Out Of Court Like A King

A Gutu Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Charles Zvenyika (49) who resisted a move by a Zanu PF group calling itself Mahwindi4ED’s bid to force every tout at the rank to put on ruling party regalia has been denied bail.

This is despite President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ally Mike Chimombe was arrested on fraud charges and granted bail the following with indications that the matter will be withdrawn for an out of court settlement.

Zvenyika allegedly snatched one of the Zanu PF tout, Joseph Mutema (35)’s mobile phone during running battles as the latter used the phone to take videos of him. He is also accused of grabbing Mutema’s party card.

Mutema is said to be one of the leading figures of the Mahwindi4ED group. He was then arrested and charged for stealing a cellphone and resisting Police arrest.

Zvenyika’s lawyer Martin Mureri of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) confirmed the development to The Mirror. Mureri said Zvenyika applied for bail at Gutu Magistrates Court as a self-actor before the arrival of his lawyer on Monday and his bid was turned down.

The running battles at Mpandawana happened last Monday as the Mahwindi4ED were also launching their organisation.

Zvenyika of Mpandawana Village under Chief Gutu allegedly stole a Samsung J4 Core with US$50 in the pouch, US$1 Buddie recharge voucher and a Zanu PF membership card from Joseph Mutema (35) before escaping Police custody on the same day.

It is the State case that on the day, Zvenyika had an altercation with a council worker, Richard Manyika outside Mutema’s shop. Mutema tried to refrain the two but failed and he called Manyika’s supervisor to intervene.

Mutema then allegedly put his phone to Manyika’s ear so that he could speak to his supervisor but Zvenyika grabbed the phone and ran away. Mutema then filed a report to Police officers who were patrolling the terminus.

Zvenyika was arrested and he escaped from the officers at the terminus before he was rearrested and taken to Gutu Police Station. He initially appeared in court on Friday.

Former Zanu PF Members Retrace Footsteps Back To The Ruling Party

Three former Zanu-PF Members of Parliament (MPs) from Hurungwe district are eyeing central committee positions in the ruling party ahead of elections slated for this weekend.

They include former Hurungwe Central MP and current central committee member Godfrey Beremauro who seeks re-election, former Hurungwe North MP Reuben Marumahoko, and former Hurungwe West MP Phone Madiro.

The three are among those who submitted curricula vitae (CVs) to the party to contest for party positions.

Beremauro confirmed to NewsDay that he will seek re-election.

“I can confirm that I am seeking re-election as I have been doing party business of late. I supervised war veterans’ elections in Mhondoro, Chegutu districts among other assignments as ordered by the party. I still need to offer my services to the party,” Beremauro said.

“It is true that I submitted my CV for consideration and clearance by the politburo. Once we are cleared, we will be ready for the elections.”

In Hurungwe West, sitting MP Ngoni Masenda also submitted his name, according to sources.

In the same constituency, a provincial member identified only as Mutenha submitted his name, while Hurungwe proportional representation (PR) legislator Goodluck Kwaramba submitted her name.

Mashonaland West MP and Provincial Affairs minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka ruled herself out saying she has no intentions to contest for a central committee post.

She is the current Zanu-PF provincial chairperson.

‘‘I am not yet ripe for the central committee. I need to give others a chance while working at provincial level,” she said.

The ruling party will hold its central committee elections ahead of the party congress slated for next month.

CORRUPTION: Councils Fail To Account For Fuel

Several local authorities are failing to account for thousands of litres of fuel allocated and disbursed for specific projects in an exposé that confirms how corruption is now rife within councils.

Just like parastatals, local authorities have also become havens of corruption that have since been red flagged by Auditor-General Mildred Chiri in her latest report on municipalities and town offices across the country.

According to a report by Chiri on the financial year ended 31 December 2021 presented to Parliament this week, several local authorities have failed to avail books of account for auditing while others failed to account for resources, mainly fuel, given to them for specific projects.

Marondera was one of the many found wanting after failing to account for over
10 000 litres of both petrol and diesel.

“On fuel management, the Council maintained a register for liquid fuel where recipients were signing as an acknowledgement of collection. However, 3 783 litres of petrol and 6 896 litres of diesel were issued without being signed for in 2019,” Chiri said.

“As a result, I could not verify whether the fuel was collected and used for council business. The risk or implication is financial loss due to misappropriation,” the report added.

The Auditor-General recommended that issued fuel be signed for while the local authority management, in response, acknowledged the observation and attributed the lapses in control to a staff shortage in the stores section.

In Bindura, the local authority is struggling to account for fuel meant for the Zimbabwe National Roads Authority (Zinara) projects amounting to 1 054 litres for other council business.

“However, I was not availed with reconciliations or evidence of reimbursement of the fuel. The risk or implication is poor service delivery due to shortage of fuel.

“Council should ensure that fuel is used for the intended purpose,” Chiri said. In its response, council management said a reconciliation of the Zinara fuel usage will be conducted and a reimbursement will be made.

It also emerged the local authority used devolution fuel for its administration purposes and did not maintain a register, exposing the fuel to abuse.

“Devolution funds are meant to spearhead development in communities and as such the council is required to maintain separate records to ensure accountability.”

At least 8 109 litres meant for road maintenance were purchased using devolution funds, with Chiri insisting there was a risk of misappropriation of fuel.

He said there was also a risk of failure to meet devolution targets.

In its response, the local authority’s management said the fuel purchased using devolution funds was meant for road maintenance.

“A fuel reconciliation will be done and the fuel meant for devolution used for other administration functions will be reimbursed and redirected towards service delivery.”

In Redcliff in the Midlands province, the local authority has a murky fuel disbursement plan manned by an individual and Chiri said this was subject to manipulation and thousands of litres could be lost in the process.

“There was no segregation of duties as the procurement officer was responsible on the procurement and distribution of fuel. Fuel was distributed through the Trek card system which was administered by a procurement officer. The procurement officer had the rights to move fuel from one card to the other without the cardholder’s knowledge,” Chiri said.

She said the risk of this is financial loss due to fraud and recommended that the procurement and management of fuel be performed by separate individuals.

In Mwenezi, Chiri said the local authority was processing fuel benefits for heads of department outside the payroll and therefore not subjected to tax.

Top Lawyer In Trouble For Protecting White Miners Accused Of Racism

TOP lawyer, Advocate Thabani Mpofu is in Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc)’s crosshairs following allegations that he received “an inducement” from accused persons to conceal racism and human rights abuse allegations in a case where he was chairing an independent inquiry.

The allegations arose after Norton legislator Temba Mliswa (Independent) wrote a letter on February 18, 2020, to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) chairperson Elasto Mugwadi calling on him to intervene in the impasse between the workers of a mining company Breckridge Investments, a subsidiary of Dallaglio Investments, and the chief executive officer Mike Fowler along with chief finance officer Joseph Crnkovic.
Mliswa in his letter indicated that his role was “to receive and consider complaints of the public and to protect people from abuse of power”.

He told Mugwadi that he had been approached by workers of the gold mine in Chegutu, who told him of racial, emotional and moral abuse involving current and former employees against Fowler and Crnkovic.

Mpofu was then appointed to head an independent tribunal to look into the matter.
But according to Crnkovic, he was then told by his boss, Matthew Hossack, that he was going to face the tribunal alone.

Crnkovic was being represented by the company’s legal practitioners, Promethious Law/Lunga and Partners and his legal fees were paid by the company, while the workers were represented by Marufu Mandevere.

Crnkovic then received an email from Zweli Lunga, a partner in Promethious Law/Lunga and Partners requesting him to pay US$5 000 to the law firm for onward transmission to Mpofu.
The US$5 000 was allegedly transferred to Mpofu’s personal account held at Nedbank.

In the email submitted to the Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) and Zacc as an exhibit from Mpofu to Hossack, Crnkovic, stated that: “Dear Matt, I have completed my task and this is my report. The necessary fees have been agreed with Zweli. The report has not been given to the employee.”

It is alleged that on May 27, 2020, Crnkovic received an email from Lunga which showed the fee that Mpofu had billed Lunga referencing Bleckridge Investments.

Crnkovic indicated that there was no tribunal held for Fowler, who was primarily the accused person.

In a statement to Zacc, Crnkovic said the issue was exacerbated by a case where he is representing Fopuld Investments, a plaintiff against Evolution Group trading as Glen Forest Memorial Cemetery, where Mpofu is also representing the defendant.

“I am now representing Fopuld Investments, who is plaintiff against Evolution Group trading as Glen Forest Memorial Cemetery, where Advocate Mpofu is representing the defendant. Certain events led me to suspect Advocate Mpofu of corruption in this case, but I have no evidence yet,” Crnkovic submitted to Zacc.

“The payment received by advocate Mpofu was a financial inducement for him to convince the employees that Fowler did not need to be looked into or the US$5 000 was a payment to advocate Mpofu for the tribunal to be non-independent.

“Advocate Mpofu acted corruptly when he received US$5 000 for work done in which the employees were convinced they were getting a fair hearing. How could a hearing be fair if both the company’s lawyers were representing me and Advocate Mpofu was also being paid by the same company? Why was an independent tribunal never held into Fowler when he was accused by Mliswa just like me? It is my belief that the US$5 000 was a bribe from the company as agreed by Hossack and Advocate Mpofu. The purpose of the bribe was to cause Advocate Mpofu to not look into Fowler, and also to convince the employees and myself that we were facing a fair hearing, which is not true,” the statement read.

Crnkovic said it was his belief that there was clear corruption between Hossack and Mpofu.

The case was allocated case number RRB003547 at Zacc and the investigating officer, Takunda Mulambo, is reportedly seized with the matter.

The LSZ also wrote to Mpofu seeking an explanation over the matter.

“I enclose herewith a letter of complaint received from the above-named. In the attached complaint, it is alleged that you executed your mandate in a corrupt manner. In terms of the LSZ by-laws, you are required to reply to the substance of the complaint in writing within 14 days. Kindly note that your failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe will result in negative inferences being drawn from your failure to respond and the matter would be forwarded to the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee without further reference to you,” LSZ executive secretary Edward Mapara said.

There are indications that Mpofu had made a report to LSZ that there were people who were out to extort him.

Mpofu could not be reached for comment, but an official familiar with the case said: “Mpofu could not, as a disciplinary authority, go outside his terms of reference and neither could he demand more people to be tried than given. That would amount to touting. Besides, it is plainly illogical. So this complainant is saying Mpofu should have inquired into the conduct of Fowler. Why would he do that? And that Mpofu should not have been paid for his work?

“How could Breckridge bribe Mpofu so that Fowler is not tried? Mpofu had no authority over Fowler and Breckridge did not have to bribe Mpofu as claimed. So this executive was happy being acquitted by Mpofu and for two years, he was content only to come back now?”

Prison Guards Shoot Intruder At Chikurubi Prison Armoury

By-Arlert Prison officers on Friday shot and injured a suspected robber after trespassing into a Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) armoury in Harare.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told ZBC News that two men who were driving a Honda Fit vehicle trespassed into a sensitive area at Chikurubi Training School.
ZPCS National Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Meya Khanyezi, confirmed that the matter was reported to Highlands Police Station.
He said alert prison officers responded swiftly after noticing that the intruders had parked their vehicle in a very sensitive and guarded area.
Chief Superintendent Khanyezi added that after noticing that they had been spotted, the intruders fled the scene and did not take orders from prison officers who had fired warning shots.

Mnangagwa Steps Down For Chiwenga

By- Zanu PF has announced that it will discuss President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s retirement plan at the party’s elective congress next month.

If Mnangagwa retires, his deputy Constantino Chiwenga will become the state, President.

Newsday

50 000 Confront Mnangagwa Over Sikhala’s Continued Persecution

By- Over 48 000 people, including Zimbabweans and foreigners, have signed a petition calling for Harare to end the persecution of opposition legislators Job Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, and 14 others.

Sikhala Thrown Into Gukurahundi Victims Prison Cell

Priest Accused Of Having Threesome With S*x Workers

Southgate Speaks On Draw With Germany

England national team coach Gareth Southgate has defended Harry Maguire after the centre-back made two blunders that led to goals in the 3-3 Nations League draw against Germany on Monday.

Maguire clumsily fouled Jamal Musiala for Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty before losing possession for Kai Havertz’ brilliant goal that doubled Germany’s advantage on the night.

Despite the errors, Southgate backed the player, saying there are many positives to take from his performances in Monday’s encounter and the 1-0 loss in Italy on Friday.

The defender, who has lost his first XI place at Manchester United this season under new boss Erik ten Hag, played full minutes in both games.

“I know everyone will focus on Harry, but there were some very important moments that Harry delivered during the two matches,” the England boss said, as cited by the Mirror.

Southgate compared the Maguire’s situation with that of his Old Trafford teammate Luke Shaw.

“Luke Shaw was another example of somebody [who delivered moments], he’s an outstanding footballer.

“So what do we do? Not pick Luke Shaw because he’s not playing enough football or do we pick a player who can do what we saw tonight?

“That’s always going to raise debate but I think in these moments we’ve got to back our best and our most experienced players unless we’re in a situation where it’s almost untenable and impossible to pick them.”

Meanwhile, Southgate is expected to name his 26-man squad for Qatar 2022 on October 20, which will be well before FIFA’s deadline of Sunday November 13.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

“We Had Threesome With Priest”

Mnangagwa Dangles Diaspora Bond To Citizens

Tinashe Sambiri|The President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema has challenged SADC to act on the deepening crisis in Zimbabwe.

According to the Zambian leader, SADC should not “fold hands” as the social unrest in Zimbabwe continues.

Writing on Twitter, United Party for National Development spokesperson, Joseph Kalimbwe, described President Hichilema as a genuine friend of those being persecuted by corrupt regimes.

“People have been asking us ‘what’s your President’s view on SADC’. Here it is; SADC must be pro-active. We can’t have leaders killing their people to remain in power. People of the SADC region, people of African continent, in our leader, in Hakainde you have a genuine friend .”

Kalimbwe added:
“It’s only in Africa – particularly here in SADC – where a party that’s failed to do anything meaningful in 30 or 42 years still wants to be given another 5 years – again to do nothing. Absolutely nothing – zero.

Sanctions were instituted because of human rights violations by individuals. End the human rights violations first because however you sing the “End Sanctions” rhetoric, the West won’t remove no sanctions if the rights of the people continue being violated. It’s that simple.”

President Chamisa “Reveals” How Mnangagwa Will Lose Polls

Tinashe Sambiri| CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said young people shall save the great nation of Zimbabwe from further economic abyss by registering to vote in numbers.

According to President Chamisa, young people shall rescue the nation via the ballot box.

The CCC leader wrote on Twitter:

“Zimbabwe will not die. Young people will save and rescue it.

The struggle continues..The march and walk to freedom, happiness and justice never ends!!We keep marching.

BAD LEADERSHIP DESTROYS VALUE!

Be wise. Be focused. Be excellent. Bring the change. Bring the hope home.#RegisterToVoteZW #fakapressure.”

Obert Mpofu Cries For Removal Of Sanctions

Tinashe Sambiri| One would be forgiven for assuming Zanu PF apparatchik Obert Mpofu is out of sync with the reality on the ground, as far as the political situation is concerned.

Mpofu, some would postulate, is deliberately running away from the fact that his beloved Zanu PF regime is plundering State resources at will.

Addressing a Zanu PF meeting on Monday, Mpofu blamed sanctions for the suffering of citizens.

He even boasted that the regime would remain in power despite the economic sanctions imposed on Harare by the “Western Forces.”

Sikhala Petition Now At 50,000 Signatures

Some 50 000 people comprising Zimbabweans and citizens of other countries have signed a petition calling for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s intervention in the continued detention of opposition legislators Job Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole and 14 others.

“Here we would additionally point out that many lawyers in the country do not believe that the denial of bail and continued incarceration of these people is warranted on the facts as these are publicly available.” – Newsday

Southgate Refuses To Blame Maguire For Disappointing Show

Customs Staff Gets USD437K By Mistake, Chops It All

A REGISTERED Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) clearing agent appeared at the Harare magistrates court charged with fraud after he converted to own use US$437 433 he had mistakenly received from the tax authority.
Tinashe Jongwe (31) who was charged alongside his company Tinapan Investments appeared before magistrate Taurai Manuwere charged with theft.

Jongwe was granted$300 000 bail.

The complainant is Zimra represented by Ngonidzashe Mutswiri, a compliance officer.

Tinapan holds a Prepayment account which is used for the purposes of clearing goods. The account is mainly used to make commercial entries like bills of entries.

It is the State’s case that on February 8 this year, Chotas investments deposited US$3 658,50 into Tinapan’s Zimra Prepayment account through Agribank Wedza branch.

The money was supposed to be converted into RTGS using the interbank rate $119 5663, giving a total amount of $437 373.53

The transferred amount mistakenly appeared on the Zimra interface account as US$437433,35, and it was credited into Tinapan Investments’ Prepayment account.

Jongwe allegedly went on to use the money to pay duty for importation of motor vehicles and fuel on several entries.

It is further alleged that on September 16, the complainant discovered through a post clearance audit that a fraudulent deposit amounting to US$437 433,35 was processed online into Tinapan Investments’s account number.

As a result of the accused’s action, the complainant suffered a prejudice of US$437 433,35 and nothing was recovered. – Newsday

Mnangagwa: I Have 600,000 Goats To Give You For Free

THE first 30 000 goats under the Presidential Goat Scheme, which seeks to boost breeding stock and increase numbers and quality, will be distributed to provinces over the next two months.
The programme, which was launched in Chipinge earlier this month, will eventually see more than 600 000 goats being distributed to the small-scale sector.

The scheme is among a raft of measures launched by the Second Republic in crop and livestock sectors to rapidly build the output and capacity of small-scale sectors and ensure the overwhelming majority of rural households are able to enter the commercial sector.

Under the full scheme, 35 000 bucks and 597 000 does will be distributed in all villages.

The bucks are being assigned as three for each chief, two for each headman and one to each village head, and then the females are distributed to the villages.

The scheme is also set to benefit the elderly, women-headed families, people living with disabilities and youth-headed families as defined in the report of the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee.

Chief Director Agriculture and Rural Advisory Services, Professor Obert Jiri, said the first 30 000 goats were ready for distribution.

The basic thrust is to introduce good genetics to the communities to upgrade the quality of the goat population.

“Distribution will start soon. Experts have inspected the goats so we can assure you these are the best breed of goats you are going to receive. The chief is going to get three he-goats, headperson will get two he-goats, the village head will get one he-goat and the rest of the community will get the females. This is a positive step towards improving the genetics of goats in communities,” Prof Jiri said.

Farmers who spoke to The Herald hailed the development saying the project will expand and upgrade the country’s goat industry to meet demand and market requirements.

Mrs Sinikiwe Dhliwayo of Mazowe said the programme was a positive development towards sustaining the goat industry noting that goats are not prone to many diseases, unlike cattle.

“This is a positive step. We lost a national cattle herd due to many tick-borne diseases. This is the way to go as we are reviving the meat industry. My hope is to expand the programme so that we can meet demand especially the international market,” she said.

Ms Yeukai Mavhunga of Zvimba hailed the programme saying demand for goat meat was high in the country and the region.

“There is an increase in demand for livestock products including goat meat and this will give an opportunity for Zimbabwe to have an increase in markets,’’ she said.

Mr Bernard Mudyariwa of Chegutu said the programme is a cash income business which does not require a lot of effort.

“If taken seriously, this is a business which brings more money in the family and does not require a lot of work. No sweat in goat rearing. We can get more money from this,” he said.

Goats are naturally easier and cheaper options for livestock production as they can thrive even in difficult conditions where there is less water.

Experts note that goats withstand drought conditions better than cattle and they can thrive on shrubs and need less manpower to tend to them.

In line with development that leaves no place and no one behind, the Government will empower 11 million people through the Presidential Inputs Scheme to ensure the attainment of an upper middle income economy by 2030. – Herald

Why I Celebrated Thieves: Clerk

PARLIAMENT officials were yesterday quizzed by the Public Accounts Committee on the now cancelled tender for the supply of laptops and desktop computers that had been awarded to two companies at inflated prices.

Clerk of Parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda and other senior officials from the institution appeared before the PAC where they admitted that the prices quoted by the companies were exorbitant.

The tender had been awarded to Blinart Investments P/L, which wanted to supply 79 desktop computers and Mid-End Computers and Hardware that wanted to supply 173 laptops.

Laptops were each valued at US$9 264,48 while desktop computers were each valued at US$3 076,61 and the Government has since blacklisted the companies for overcharging.

Responding to questions by the Committee’s chairman, Mr Brian Dube, Mr Chokuda said he rejected the prices charged by the companies.

“If you go to the statement I issued on the 17th of September, we were very clear, Honourable Chair, that after doing our due diligence, which we do and on the 9th of September, I directed that we couldn’t proceed with the procurement because of the prices.

“I said a laptop with the specifications that I know could be roughly between US$3 500 and US$5 000 and that there was no way as Clerk of Parliament I could buy a laptop at that price,” he said.

Parliament’s director of ICT, Ms Theresa Kamvura, said she had also raised similar concerns on the prices when she met with the chief director for finance, Mr Bernard Zvamada.

“I advised the chief director when he called me to his office; I said this price is too much because we were looking at the laptops at a price range of US$3 500 and US$4 500 with the accessories, so I said this was beyond what we could pay for and for desktops we said it could not go beyond US$1 000,” she said.

Mr Chokuda was then asked why he had written to the companies on August 29, congratulating them for winning the tender to which he replied that it was his responsibility to notify bidders of the outcome of the bidding process.

“The letter of the 29th of August was to communicate the outcome of the tender process which I did. Secondly, I think I performed my duties as Clerk of Parliament to the fullest of my abilities. When I noticed the prices and I was not happy with them, I duly asked that the tender be cancelled and be re-tendered,” he said adding that he could prove his assertions.

Mr Chokuda also denied that Parliament had approached Treasury for funding to pay the contractors.

He added that it was the first time the companies had won tenders from Parliament.

Mr Chokuda informed the companies that took part in the bidding process of the cancellation of the contract. -Herald

Macheso Band Member Fondles Police Officer

ORCHESTRA Mberikwazvo band member Jonas Kasamba had to be pulled away by his colleagues as he f0ndled a female ZRP Band member at a hotel last Thursday.

Selemane “Majuice” Mpochi, Kasamba’s co-dancer, pulled the chanter away from the ZRP Band member.

The incident happened in full view of senior police officers.

Kasamba, Majuice and Zaka Zaka performed with the ZRP Band at a fundraising dinner organised by the Ruwa community to build a police station for the suburb.

Alick Macheso was absent from the show.

“Aah, aaah, no that is too much zvakwana mudhara,” Majuice was heard saying as guests were taking pictures using their cellphones.

The Ruwa community, working closely with Chief Inspector Anna Chota, has been partnering the police in fighting crime such as armed robberies and stock theft.

Ruwa’s captains of industry, church leaders, farmers and teachers were part of the guests at the fund-raising dinner.

Officer Commanding Harare province, Commissioner Wonder Tembo, attended.

“Modern policing does not separate community and police officers,” said Comm Tembo.

“We thank the Ruwa community for working hand-in-hand with police in fighting crime.

“Such partnership will see a crime-free society that will create an environment for business investment and peace.

“I would like to commend Chief Inspector Chota for teaming up with the community in this project,” he said.

What You Need To About Dementia

Key facts

Dementia is a syndrome in which there is deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected from the usual consequences of biological ageing.
Although dementia mainly affects older people, it is not an inevitable consequence of ageing.

Currently more than 55 million people live with dementia worldwide, and there are nearly 10 million new cases every year.

Dementia results from a variety of diseases and injuries that primarily or secondarily affect the brain. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and may contribute to 60-70% of cases.

Dementia is currently the seventh leading cause of death among all diseases and one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people globally.

Dementia has physical, psychological, social and economic impacts, not only for people living with dementia, but also for their carers, families and society at large.
Dementia is a syndrome – usually of a chronic or progressive nature – that leads to deterioration in cognitive function (i.e. the ability to process thought) beyond what might be expected from the usual consequences of biological ageing. It affects memory, thinking, orientation, comprehension, calculation, learning capacity, language, and judgement. Consciousness is not affected. The impairment in cognitive function is commonly accompanied, and occasionally preceded, by changes in mood, emotional control, behaviour, or motivation.

Dementia results from a variety of diseases and injuries that primarily or secondarily affect the brain, such as Alzheimer’s disease or stroke.

Dementia is currently the seventh leading cause of death among all diseases and one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people worldwide. Dementia has physical, psychological, social and economic impacts, not only for people living with dementia, but also for their carers, families and society at large. There is often a lack of awareness and understanding of dementia, resulting in stigmatization and barriers to diagnosis and care.

Signs and symptoms
Dementia affects each person in a different way, depending upon the underlying causes, other health conditions and the person’s cognitive functioning before becoming ill. The signs and symptoms linked to dementia can be understood in three stages.

Early stage: the early stage of dementia is often overlooked because the onset is gradual. Common symptoms may include:

forgetfulness
losing track of the time
becoming lost in familiar places.
Middle stage: as dementia progresses to the middle stage, the signs and symptoms become clearer and may include:

becoming forgetful of recent events and people’s names
becoming confused while at home
having increasing difficulty with communication
needing help with personal care
experiencing behaviour changes, including wandering and repeated questioning
Late stage: the late stage of dementia is one of near total dependence and inactivity. Memory disturbances are serious and the physical signs and symptoms become more obvious and may include:

becoming unaware of the time and place
having difficulty recognizing relatives and friends
having an increasing need for assisted self-care
having difficulty walking
experiencing behaviour changes that may escalate and include aggression.
Common forms of dementia
There are many different forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form and may contribute to 60-70% of cases. Other major forms include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies (abnormal aggregates of protein that develop inside nerve cells), and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal dementia (degeneration of the frontal lobe of the brain). Dementia may also develop after a stroke or in the context of certain infections such as HIV, harmful use of alcohol, repetitive physical injuries to the brain (known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy) or nutritional deficiencies. The boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist.

Rates of dementia
Worldwide, around 55 million people have dementia, with over 60% living in low- and middle-income countries. As the proportion of older people in the population is increasing in nearly every country, this number is expected to rise to 78 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050.

Risk factors and prevention

Although age is the strongest known risk factor for dementia, it is not an inevitable consequence of biological ageing. Further, dementia does not exclusively affect older people – young onset dementia (defined as the onset of symptoms before the age of 65 years) accounts for up to 9% of cases. Studies show that people can reduce their risk of cognitive decline and dementia by being physically active, not smoking, avoiding harmful use of alcohol, controlling their weight, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining healthy blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Additional risk factors include depression, social isolation, low educational attainment, cognitive inactivity and air pollution.

Mwonzora, Komichi Clash Over Zanu PF

By- Top MDC-T leaders Douglas Mwonzora and the party’s chairperson Morgen Komichi have clashed over how to approach the ruling Zanu PF.

The clash comes after Komichi has said the government only needs confrontation, not dialogue, for it to respond to address national issues.

This contradicts Mwonzora’s position of having a dialogue with Zanu PF to solve the prevailing crises.

Speaking on Alpha Media Holdings’ Heart and Soul television (HStv) ‘s current affairs programme at the weekend, Komichi said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government had shown a lack of desire to engage in meaningful dialogue with opposition party leaders.

Said Komichi:

As we speak right now the government doesn’t want anything to do with dialoguing. People have talked about dialogue and the government has not been forthcoming, the government simply needs confrontation, the opposition people should just stand up and demand what the government should do. The moment you start putting issues of dialogue, the government laughs at you, because like now how can we, as Zimbabweans, allow the government to go for 10 years without implementing important parts of our Constitution like devolution?

After he was voted the MDC-T president in 2020, Mwonzora met Mnangagwa at State House and gave him a dialogue proposal document, which suggested that by-elections must be put on hold in order to promote talks outside the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform.

Mnangagwa ignored the proposal insisting that talks will only take place within the POLAD platform he initiated in 2019 for the 2018 presidential candidates to dialogue in an endeavour to address the socio-economic and political crises bedevilling Zimbabwe.

Nelson Chamisa who now leads the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) refused to join POLAD saying it was meant to legitimise Mnangagwa’s rule.

Another Zanu PF Thief Released, As Sikhala Remains In Prison

By- The courts on Tuesday released Zanu PF deputy secretary for indigenisation in the Mashonaland west province and former Empowerment Group (EEG) president Mike Chimombe facing fraud allegations.

Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi released the Zanu PF fraudster on ZW$50 000 bail barely a day after his arrest.

The catch and release of Zanu PF thieves by the state come after CCC deputy chairman Job Sikhala has clocked over 100 days in remand prison for political persecution.

Sikhala, his colleague Godfrey Sithole and 14 other CCC members were arrested in June for demanding justice for the murderers of Moreblessing Ali, who Zanu PF thugs killed.

Mnangagwa Retirement Tops Congress Agenda

By- Zanu PF has announced that it will discuss President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s retirement plan at the party’s elective congress next month.

NewsDay reports that the party will do this through fast-tracking internal constitutional amendments to enable Mnangagwa’s succession roadmap in consultation with the proposed council of elders.

According to insiders, the amendments to be tabled at the party congress would enable him to step down as State President after serving his two five-year terms and continue as party president.
Newsday

Macheso Band Member Fondles Female Cop

We Are Suffering Because Of Sanctions – Obert Mpofu

Tinashe Sambiri| One would be forgiven for assuming Zanu PF apparatchik Obert Mpofu is out of sync with the reality on the ground, as far as the political situation is concerned.

Mpofu, some would postulate, is deliberately running away from the fact that his beloved Zanu PF regime is plundering State resources at will.

Addressing a Zanu PF meeting on Monday, Mpofu blamed sanctions for the suffering of citizens.

He even boasted that the regime would remain in power despite the economic sanctions imposed on Harare by the “Western Forces.”

Catholic Priest Clashes With Hookers

By A Correspondent- A catholic priest clashed with two sex workers, who wanted to extort him, at St Peter’s in Highfield on Sunday.

Father Nhika was reported to have engaged an armed member of security forces to threaten the sex workers only identified as Memory and Trish.

UK JOBS: Fraudster Dupes Nurse Aide Job Seeker

A Harare man yesterday appeared in court facing six counts of fraud after he allegedly duped people of their hard-earned money on the pretext that he would train them as nurse aides.

Ngundu Zvirevo (52) appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi who remanded him in custody to tomorrow.

The court heard that on August 7, Zvirevo flighted an advert on a WhatsApp group purporting that he could assist people seeking nurse aide training at Government hospitals with attachment at those institutions.

The complainant became interested and contacted Zvirevo, who confirmed that he could help.

Zvirevo told the complainant to send cash through Mukuru money transfer agent and complied and she the deposited US$1 250.

He then confirmed receiving the money.

The complainant then tried to contact Zvirevo, but he became evasive leading to a report being made to the police.

On the second count, Zvirevo used the same method and defrauded Brenda Mubaiwa on August 11, resulting in her losing US$1 270.

On the third count, circumstances are that on September 19, Charity Muringisi was defrauded by Zvirevo using the same tactic and she suffered a loss of US$527 after sending money through Mukuru at the instigation of Zvirevo.

On the fourth count, the court heard that on August 10, Brian Masina was duped by Zvirevo of US$1 270 using the same way.

On the fifth count, the court heard that on August 9, attracted the attention of Rachel Dheka, again on a WhatsApp group, and made the complainant send US$1 250.

On the sixth count, Zvirevo allegedly defrauded Faith Murambiwa on July 11 through the same method and got away with US$1 250.

The total amount lost to Zvirevo is US$6 342 and nothing was recovered.

The court said Zvirevo had no right to defraud the complainants.-state media

Zanu PF Retires Mnangagwa

By- Zanu PF has announced that it will discuss President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s retirement plan at the party’s elective congress next month.

NewsDay reports that the party will do this through fast-tracking internal constitutional amendments to enable Mnangagwa’s succession roadmap in consultation with the proposed council of elders.

According to insiders, the amendments to be tabled at the party congress would enable him to step down as State President after serving his two five-year terms and continue as party president.
Newsday

Zanu PF Youth Leader Up For Fraud

By- Zanu PF deputy secretary for indigenisation in the Mashonaland west province and former Empowerment Group (EEG) president, Mike Chimombe has been arrested on allegations of frauding.

According to the state media, Chimombe sold a stand for US$16 900 to several people.

Chimombe, a prominent businessman and socialite who is also a former Affirmative Action Group (AAG) president, was arrested yesterday morning at his plush Borrowdale Brooke house in Harare and is expected to appear in court today.
Two others, Steven Chimombe and Hermysh Katsande, were arrested in July on the same charges.
They are now on remand awaiting trial and it is likely that Chimombe will be joining them in the dock.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the three are accused of selling a Tynwald residential stand to Mr Brian Marungamise, although the land belonged to someone else.
He said Mr Marungamise paid US$16 900 to the trio, but when he wanted to develop the property, someone came and claimed ownership of the land.
Asst Comm Nyathi said Mr Marungamise approached the three and wanted the whole matter sorted out.
It is alleged that Mr Marungamise was then allocated another stand in the same area, but once again another person claimed ownership of that same land.
In a third attempt to give Mr Marungamise a stand worth what he had paid, he was allocated a residential stand in Waterfalls. But yet again another person claimed ownership. At this stage Mr Marungamise went to the police and made a report at Harare Central Police Station.
After checking out the report, police then arrested Steven Chimombe and Katsande two months ago.
Following further investigations, police decided to arrest Mike Chimombe.
The total prejudice is US$16 900 and so far none of this money has been recovered.

Ndiraya Faces Dismissal ?

A section of Dynamos fans staged a mini demonstration after their 0-1 loss to Ngezi Platinum Stars at the National Sports Stadium yesterday, calling for the dismissal of head coach Tonderai Ndiraya.

Delic Murimba’s brilliant 4th minute strike was the difference between the two sides in a contest Dynamos fared well but still lost.

DeMbare needed to win to keep their faint hopes of winning their first league title since 2014 alive but failed to do so and are now 11 points behind log leaders FC Platinum with six games remaining.

After Murimba’s opener, Dynamos fans were already singing songs reminding Ndiraya that his job was on the line.

When the referee blew the final whistle, a bottle was thrown at goalkeepers coach Gift ‘Umbro’ Muzadzi by a fan, and it missed the legendary former shot-stopper by a whisker.

Asked during his post-match interview about the fans’ songs and if he believed his job was safe, Ndiraya said: “I didn’t hear them and I have no comment about that.”

The former midfielder however admitted that Dynamos fans have a good reason to be frustrated.

“They are justified. Look, even if it were me, I was going to be angry also. They want their team to win and when it doesn’t win, they will be disappointed. So they are as disappointed as we are,” said Ndiraya.

After the final whistle, irate Dynamos fans waited for Ndiraya at the exit point singing songs demanding for the coach’s dismissal.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Chipolopolo Coach Quits

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that national team coach Aljosa Asanovic has resigned.

Asanovic, who was appointed as Chipolopolo head coach in January, sent his resignation from his home country Croatia after snubbing all efforts by the FA to resolve a contractual matter failed.

The coach is owed US$41,000 in unpaid salaries.

He has been in his native country since Zambia lost 1-0 at home to Mozambique on July 30 to crash out of the Algeria 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

“Following weeks of fruitless efforts to get the coach to return to his workstation and resolve contractual matters, we have been notified by Mr Aljosa Asanovic through his lawyers that he has quit his position as Zambia National Team Head Coach,” FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala said in a statement on Sunday.

“Understandably, after failure to meet some of the key performance indicators and propensity to leave his workstation after every international assignment made his position untenable.”

Asanovic wants to accelerate the matter to FIFA to seek closure and this could attract sanctions on the national team.

“We welcome Mr Asanovic’s desire to report the matter to FIFA as we equally want finality on the matter especially in the claim for remuneration for the period one is absent from work,” the FA’s generally secretary added.

FAZ, in consultation with government and other stakeholders, will announce the next steps in due course.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Dementia

VP Karenyi-Kore Reaches Out To Citizens In Namibia

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC vice president, Lynette Karenyi-Kore took the party’s mobilization programme popularly known as Mugwazo to Namibia at the weekend.

Mugwazo is a vibrant mobilization exercise that seeks to encourage citizens to register to vote in numbers.

Below is CCC Namibia statement on vice president Karenyi-Kore’s visit to that country…

Citizens Coalition For Change Interim Vice President Lynette Karenyi Kore takes ‘Mugwazo’ to Namibia

26 September 2022

Change champions in Namibia were quite exhilarated to meet their vibrant and diligent interim Vice President Lynette Karenyi Kore on Sunday. Citizens who reside in Windhoek, Northern, and Rundu converged at Katutura Youth Centre to hear an inspiring and mouth-watering revolutionary message. The message was very clear! Change champions were encouraged to go and register to vote, vote in 2023, and defend the vote against rigging.

The enthusiastic crowd was advised to partner with their rural constituencies ahead of the 2023 general elections. Since voting is part of independence, citizens were reminded to voice up through voting. Champion Kore went on to urge citizens in the diaspora to give moral, material, and financial support to the foot soldiers on the ground. Mobilization, recruitment, and radicalization of citizens in the diaspora remained key in her address. Change champions expressed their great zeal to win Zimbabwe for change. Voting big and winning big was the only panacea for socio-economic transfiguration in the motherland.

Residents in Namibia vowed to embrace participatory democracy. They guaranteed their commitment and dedication to the change that delivers. Change champions exhibited their unwavering support for the movement led by the organic leader, President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Namibia district has already set the ball swiveling since they committed to offering material and financial support to Uzumba. It’s key to assisting our change champions to register to vote and participate in the national discourse. Citizens were quick to disclose that it was not their choice to cross two borders in search of bread and butter.

Change champions are now tired of selling brooms and cockroach poison in the streets of Namibia hence the dire need to fight tooth-to-nail until democracy is delivered to our doorsteps. All Zimbabweans in the diaspora deserted the motherland because of gross misgovernance, senseless and bare-faced corruption as well as high levels of unemployment. Citizens are scratching their heads for a single nutritious meal per day. As both political and economic refugees, residents are committed to working with those on the ground-from family, friends, and the generality of the community to usher in a complete change in Zimbabwe.

Social Democrats in Namibia assured the provisional Vice President that they are ready to surrender themselves before they surrender the national democratic project. Citizens also condemned the continued incarceration of Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole and the Nyatsime 14. Spending more than 100 days languishing in the hell-hole of Chikurubi Maximum Prison for demanding justice for Moreblessing Ali is unacceptable and unconstitutional. Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia demands the immediate release of innocent change seekers.

It was also sad to note the perpetual state-sponsored violence in Masvingo, Gutu Mpandawana. Councilor Benard Chimwango and Langton Guvava were severely assaulted during Mugwazo in Gutu. Reports are clear that the same ZANU-PF thugs who butchered our change champion Nyasha Zhambe last year continue to terrorize our people with impunity.May his dear soul rest in power. It is one’s democratic right to participate in Mugwazo, the political freedoms are enshrined in the constitution of 2013. It is now imperative to defend our membership from these marauding ZANU-PF thugs. Defending ourselves from terror should never be mistaken for violence.

Citizens in Namibia shall continue to embrace mugwazo as a sure and effective way of recruiting and mobilizing voters for change in 2023. Champion Kore emphasized the desire to take part in the national processes regardless of geographical location. Change champions expressed their worry about possible rigging by ZANUPF in 2023 but the Vp assured the citizens that the people’s party shall ensure that it has polling agents all over the breadth and length of Zimbabwe. She reiterated that the party polling agents should have the varlour, nerve, and mettle to defend the vote.

The party is committed to deploying sober-minded change champions ready to lose their last drop of sweat and blood defending the voice of the people. She made it clear that change champions should not give any room for the manipulation of the vote by the ZANU-PF election fraudsters. Citizens were encouraged to sacrifice for the party not to target payment for protecting the vote as party agents. Change champions should embrace dangerous freedom against peaceful slavery to win Zimbabwe for change. Those who want to work for remuneration have no place in our polling stations.
