Legendary Musician Dies
BBC News – Singer Tina Turner, whose soul classics and pop hits like The Best and What’s Love Got to Do With It made her a superstar, has died at the age of 83.
Turner had suffered a number of health issues in recent years including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure.
She rose to fame alongside husband Ike in the 1960s with songs including Proud Mary and River Deep, Mountain High.
She divorced the abusive Ike in 1978, and went on to find even greater success as a solo artist in the 1980s.
Dubbed the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner was famed for her raunchy and energetic stage performances and husky, powerful vocals.
She won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 as a solo artist, having first been inducted alongside Ike Turner in 1991.
Upon her solo induction, the Hall of Fame noted how she had “expanded the once-limited idea of how a Black woman could conquer a stage and be both a powerhouse and a multidimensional being”.
Younger stars who have felt her influence include Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Janelle Monae and Rihanna.
Born in Tennessee into a sharecropping family, she first found prominence as one of the backing singers for her husband’s band The Kings of Rhythm.
She soon went to to front the band, and the couple tasted commercial success with Fool in Love and It’s Gonna Work Out Fine, which made the US charts in the early 60s.
Their other hits included 1973’s Nutbush City Limits, about the small town where Tina was born. But Ike’s physical and emotional abuse was taking its toll.
It was he who changed her name from her birth name, Anna Mae Bullock, to Tina Turner – a decision he took without her knowledge, one example of his controlling behaviour.
She recalled the trauma she suffered throughout their relationship in her 2018 memoir, My Love Story, in which she compared sex with the late musician to “a kind of rape”.
“He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang,” she wrote.
After escaping her abuser, she went on to rebuild her career and become one of the biggest pop and rock stars of the 80s and 90s, with hits including Let’s Stay Together, Steamy Windows, Private Dancer, James Bond theme GoldenEye, I Don’t Wanna Fight and It Takes Two, a duet with Rod Stewart.
She also starred in 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome – which featured another of her smashes, We Don’t Need Another Hero – and The Who’s 1975 rock opera Tommy as the Acid Queen.
She found happiness with her second husband, German music executive Erwin Bac. They began dating in the mid-80s, and got married in 2013.
The pair lived in Switzerland, with Turner taking Swiss citizenship. He donated one of his kidneys to her in 2017 after it was discovered she was suffering from kidney failure.
She also suffered tragedy with the loss of her eldest son Craig to suicide in 2018. His father was Turner’s former bandmate, Raymond Hill.
Another son, Ronnie, whose father was Ike Turner, died in 2022. She also had two adopted sons, Ike Jr and Michael, Ike’s children from a previous relationship.
Tina’s life story spawned a 1993 biopic titled What’s Love Got To Do With It, which earned Angela Bassett an Oscar nomination for playing the star; and a hit stage musical – aptly titled Tina: The Musical. She was also the subject of HBO documentary Tina in 2021.
In an interview with Marie Claire South Africa in 2018, Turner said: “People think my life has been tough, but I think it’s been a wonderful journey. The older you get, the more you realise it’s not what happened, it’s how you deal with it.”- BBC News
Wild Animals Kill 3
COMMUNITIES in Chikombedzi area of Chiredzi are living in fear following revelations that three people from the area were killed by animals this year.
Wild animals have become a menace in areas surrounding the Gonarezhou National Park which include the Davata area of Chikombedzi with elephants and wild pigs destroying crops and posing danger to humans and livestock.
“This year three people were killed by elephants in Samu village and in Davata. The wild animals have been causing a lot of problems for us and we hope the authorities will intervene,” said a worried villager.
“Our area is a dry region and we mostly survive on livestock farming. The wild animals are killing our goats and cattle. We are left with nothing then hunger strikes,” said another.
Another concerned resident added, “Last year I put sorghum on my two plots which are near my homestead. I did not get anything because wild pigs came and ate all my crops. We hope that in future there will be some form of compensation to the victims of human and wildlife conflict.”
Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson, Mr Tinashe Farawo confirmed that they have received several distress calls from the area.
“We are receiving a number of distress calls from communities across the country and Chikombedzi is one of them. We encourage communities to give us much information as possible and we react within the shortest possible time,” said Farawo.
“We have different animals which move around and we are encouraging our communities to try to minimise movement at night because most of the attacks occur at night. We are also discouraging communities from herding their livestock in game parks,” he added.
This comes at a time when the Cabinet has approved the establishment of the Human-Wildlife Conflict Relief Fund for victims.- ZBC News
BREAKING: The Final End Of Sithule Qoki, PropertyWorld Scams, As Victims Receive Refunds
By Simba Chikanza | After over 6 years of increased intimidation, the entrapments of the Qoki and Property-Pro-World scams have come to an end, with the latest 2 victims receiving their refunds.
The two frauds run by UK based NHS nurse, Sithule Tshuma and her architect, legal advisor (and professed investor) Julian Condliffe reached a dead end on Wednesday night as the latest victim (video) received his second payment of over GBP20,000 from the abusive lawyer, Condliffe. The last other elated victim was an Australia based Qoki Zimbabwean investor who obtained her total repayment of close to USD6,000 in one go from Tshuma’s lawyer, Zibusiso Ncube.
The breaking news comes amid a long running investigation by ZimEye that has seen scores of victims becoming enslaved to notorious WhatsApp torture-rooms where they are subjected to bullying typical to that of church cults as people who’ve poured out up to GBP70,000 are summarily removed from the rooms upon asking for legal clarification. A removal means an investor is left wallowing in the dark on what on earth is being done to their money.
The Julian Condliffe/Qoki model (openly described by a Qoki Founder as a Chiyangwa-fraud) imposes on instalment-trapped homeseekers an intimidating hypnotique that makes investors either give up their title deed, or continue paying never ending expenses that in the end come to naught and turn the victims into perpetual zombies.
A court case is scheduled for next week at Birmingham Crown Court on 31st May, where victims are conjoined in their claims in what’s now practically a criminal case.
The latest victim (video) told ZimEye via phone, of his relief after getting his latest payment OF GBP20,000.
“She has paid 20,000 today in addition to the previous one,” he said.
Meanwhile, for victims under the Qoki sub brand, a legal advisory (below, utilised by the first Qoki victim to get a refund) outlines the rights of investors in obtaining their refunds.
Sithule Tshuma who’s aligned to Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, during the week deactivated her Twitter account as the investigation hots up.
This was shortly after being asked to reveal her UK address in the summons she is sending journalists she says she is suing, albeit utilising an address that is 8700km away from her own official and home address.
Sithule Tshuma, 5 years ago, launched her Qoki Zindlovukazi Investment Group promising she was out to empower women with title deeds in a scheme later described by one of her own loyal aides, as totally built on fraud money.
Out of more than 500 customers who’ve poured in over USD6 million, not a single document has materialised half a decade later, and victims of her evidently ponzi scheme are now demanding their refunds. (Click for more)

At the weekend, Tshuma issued a second letter threatening legal action against ZimEye, but one that was both faceless and nameless; furthermore wielding a Bulawayo address. She was asked why she is failing to disclose her UK whereabouts or at least a serving address, “if you are not a fraudster,” afterwhich her account was deactivated.

Investors should start questioning whether this investment is safe for them. The points below are some of the red flags Investors should be aware of and should approach Qoki for clarification. ‘We respect the efforts in facilitating the empowerment of women through investment opportunities, however, this should be done fairly without taking any advantage of the vulnerability of others,’ is how they could begin.
The following analysis generally deals with the projects involving the purchase and development of land, however similar concerns could be raised for other Qoki projects as well.
It is also highly recommended that investors (despite of their trust and allegiance to Qoki and its founding members) obtain their own independent legal advice on this and not rely on the analysis set out below

Moreblessing Ali’s Body Clocks Almost One (1) Year In Mortuary
By-The remains of the abducted and murdered CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali, have clocked one year in the mortuary.
Ali’s remains were found in a disused well after her kidnapping.
Her family has declared they will not bury her remains until their lawyer, Job Sikhala who was arrested for allegedly inciting public violence, has been released.
Sikhala is accused of recording and publishing a video demanding justice for Ali.
He was arrested three days after Ali’s body was found and has since spent nearly a year in pretrial detention at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
Ali’s alleged killer Pius Mukandi, alias Jamba has been in remand prison for almost a year after being arrested while trying to flee from justice.
In April this year, he was remanded in custody pending his indictment for trial at the High Court.
In a statement to remember Ali, CCC said it was committed to seeking justice for Moreblessing Ali. Reads the statement:
One year ago, our Change Champion, Moreblessing Ali, went missing, and a few weeks later, her mutilated body was found in a well located in Nyatsime, owned by the mother of a ZANU PF member named Simbarashe Chisango.
Despite allegations against Pius Jamba, a ZANU PF member, no justice has been served for Moreblessing Ali’s brutal murder.
Sadly, her lawyer, Job Sikhala, who represented her case, has also been punished and has currently spent 344 days in pre-trial detention.
We remain committed to seeking justice for Moreblessing Ali.
Meanwhile, Sikhala, who was arrested on 14 June alongside Chitungwiza North MP, Godfrey Sithole, and 14 other CCC activists, has been denied bail several times.
On 03 May 2023, Sikhala was convicted of obstructing the course of justice and was given a wholly suspended six months sentence and a six-month jail term with an option of paying a US$600 fine.
Chinese Couple Abducted, Murdered And Dumbed In Disused Dam
By- The bodies of a Chinese couple, which went missing in 2020, have been found dumped in a disused dam.
The coupe was abducted, killed and dumped in a dam.
Police have finally cracked the code in the case of the husband and wife, who went missing on Valentine’s Day in 2020.
Lei Ding and his wife Chi Lifen, who were aged 35 and 30, disappeared on Valentine’s Day after visiting a friend in Highlands, Harare.
A reward of $1 million was offered by the couple’s family and friends.
However, it didn’t assist the investigation at the time.
But, there has been a big breakthrough made by the police.
Chen Long, who is a Chinese national residing in Avondale, Harare, has been arrested and charged with allegedly murdering the couple.
He is also facing kidnapping charges.
Long was implicated by Xu Lin Lin and Luo Yengshen, who were arrested by Chinese police in China.
The duo confessed that they kidnapped the couple, with Long’s assistance, and dumped them in a dam in Zimbabwe.
The two are set to be brought to Zimbabwe to face trial.
They will be charged with murder upon making indications to the police.
The two were linked to the offence after the police managed to recover the couple’s cellphones, which were taken to China, where data was retrieved.
The State is alleging that on February 14, 2020, Lei Ding, who was in the business of Quarry and river sand mining called his friend Xu Lin Lin, telling him that he was proceeding to see him.
It is believed that Ding went to Lin’s place with his wife driving a white Mercedes Benz ML.
However, the couple was never seen again.
The couple’s car was recovered the next day, dumped along Acturus Road, with the keys on the ignition, by police officers from ZRP Mabvuku.
A report was made at the CID Vehicle Theft squad.
The car was searched and the police recovered the couple’s car keys and a firearms certificate.
The police went to their home and no one was there.
Investigations were conducted by a joint team of Zimbabwean and Chinese police which led to the recovery of an iPhone, which was being used by the couple.
The Chinese police took the cellphone to China and restored all the data and pursued investigations.
They arrested Xu Lin Lin and Luo Yengshen, who indicated that they fatally assaulted the couple, and dumped their bodies into an unknown dam.
They implicated Long, whom they had left in Zimbabwe, to have been involved in the offence.
Long appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi who remanded him in custody pending finalisation of investigations. H Metro
ZEC Postpones Voters’ Roll Inspection
By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has postponed the dates for the inspection of the Voters’ Roll.
Originally planned for May 26-30, 2023, from 7 am to 5 pm at advised polling centers, the inspection period has been rescheduled to May 27-31, 2023.
The primary objective of the inspection exercise is to verify the voters’ details as they apply to their constituency, ward, and polling station to ensure accuracy. In its latest notice ZEC said without giving reasons:

By- The Zimbabwe dollar has further weakened against the United States (US$) dollar on the foreign currency auction held by the Central Bank Tuesday.
This week the weighted average was US$1: ZWL$1,888.0119 up from US$1: ZWL$1,404.8039 reported on 16 May 2023.
The central bank allotted a total of US$14,166,812.38 down from US$14,444,323.31, with the majority of the allotment going to raw materials, followed by machinery and equipment.
The amount allotted for the Small to Medium Enterprises Forex Auction was US$957,712.91 down from US$1,576,700.13, while the Main Forex Auction was allotted US$13,209,099.47 up from US$13,171,159.91.

ZEC Dangles Dubious Voters Roll
THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission will this Saturday open the voters’ roll for inspection to the public.
The inspection window will last until the end of this month.
In a statement, ZEC says a national identity document or passport will be required for one to inspect the voter’s roll.
The development comes as the country gears for the 2023 general elections expected in August this year.
Registration of prospective voters is still continuing, with the voters’ roll for the 2023 general elections set to close two days after the proclamation of the election date. -ZBC News

Citizens Remember Moreblessing Ali
Tinashe Sambiri| The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has released an emotive statement on the abduction and brutal murder of Moreblessing Ali.
Moreblessing was abducted and brutally killed by Zanu PF agents last year.
CCC deputy chairperson and Moreblessing’s lawyer Hon Job Sikhala was arrested for denouncing the horrendous murder of the political activist.
Hon Sikhala has clocked 344 days in prison.

Govt To Arrest Cotton Suspects As GoldMafia Thugs Walk Scotfree
At a time people implicated in Al Jazeera’s GoldMafia documentary have been let off the hook, government has announced plans to arrest cotton side-marketing suspects.
According to Dr. Anxious Masuka, minister for lands, agriculture, fisheries, water, and rural development, fining people who side market cotton is ineffective; jail time is a preferable choice.
In an effort to protect one of the nation’s top foreign exchange earners and a major source of income for many Zimbabweans, Dr. Masuka said individuals or businesses involved in the side marketing of cotton should be subject to imprisonment on Monday at the beginning of the 2023 cotton marketing season in Mahuwe.
“Last year, seven side marketing breaches were recorded with the culprits being fined over US$10 000,” he said.
“In terms of the deterrent measures, we must go beyond this and make side marketing a criminal offense. Jail is the only effective way to curb this practice.”
Side-marketing is a form of contract default where a contracted cotton grower sells his or her crop to a third party in breach of a legally binding contractual agreement which states that contracted cotton shall only be sold to or bought by the licensed contractor who provided inputs to such a grower.
“My ministry, through the Agricultural Marketing Authority, continues to implement measures to curb side marketing,” said Dr Masuka.
“These include the Memorandum of Agreement by all contractors for the establishment of cotton buying points, maintenance of good business practices and registers of each contractor at each buying point.
“Last year, seven side marketing breaches were recorded with the culprits being fined over US$10 000. In terms of the deterrent measures, we must go beyond this and make side marketing a criminal offense. Jail is the only effective way to curb this practice.”
Side marketing almost collapsed the cotton industry in 2013 after private merchants stopped financing farmers due to poor debt recovery.
In 2014, output dropped to 28 000 tonnes, the lowest in nearly two decades.
The Government intervened by providing farmers with free inputs under the scheme known as Presidential Free Inputs programme.
Dr Masuka emphasised that farmers should get a decent return and timely payment for their commodity.
Unlike the previous seasons when some farmers were not paid on time; growers were receiving their payments upon delivery of their crop this season.
Dr Masuka urged farmers to increase hectares in cotton farming.
Government wants more ginneries and oil expressing plants nearer farmers, and a third spinning company to take up more of the lint to ensure value addition in line with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
He said in August, they were targeting to install machineries to process cotton seeds into cooking oil in cotton growing areas such as Gokwe, Checheche and Mahuwe.
Nearly 350 000 farmers were contracted to grow cotton under the Presidential Inputs Scheme last year and planted about 250 000 hectares and 152 000 tonnes are expected this season.
Running for the eighth straight season, the State-assisted scheme has seen cotton production recovering.
More than 360 000 farmers benefited from free inputs under the scheme, running for eight consecutive years.
Under the scheme, farmers get free basal and top dressing fertiliser, seed as well as chemicals. The State-assisted scheme has seen an average of 300 000 households receiving free inputs.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Monica Mavhunga said Government’s effort to drill boreholes and dam construction has helped a lot to improve people’s livelihoods.
“We are happy that here in Mbire , Government is constructing Dande Dam, Bindura Dam and Semwa Dam. All these efforts will help to upgrade people’s standards of living. We are also grateful of the Pfumvudza programme. That’s why last season we made an improvement in farming programmes compared to the other seasons,” she said.
Agriculture Marketing Authority (AMA) chief executive Mr Clever Isaya said it was critical for farmers to grow crops according to their ecological regions, adding that this will help to improve productivity levels.
He said that side marketing should not be tolerated this season adding that grade A will be costing $0,46c per kg.
This season farmers will be paid 85 percent in foreign currency and 15 percent will be paid in local currency on the prevailing rate on the day of payment.
Six contracted companies have registered to grow cotton this year.
“We have 300 000 cotton growers we have registered this season,” Mr Isaya.
Zimura Boss Fired
State Media- Phillip Chipfumbu has been dismissed from the board of the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) with immediate effect following accusations that he brought the organization’s reputation into contempt.
This comes after Chipfumbu made a number of accusations, including that board chairman Albert Nyathi, First Farai, and Alexio “Goodchild” Gwenzi planned a private trip to Bulawayo where they allegedly wasted the association’s finances.
At a press conference with journalists held in the capital, Chipfumbu accused Nyathi and other board members of having taken control of the association and misusing funds while the three were in Bulawayo on Zimura business.
Zimura’s spokesman, Gwenzi, claimed in a statement that Chipfumbu was fired because he lacked “Corporate Governance and his ignorance led him to act in a way that brings the organisation into disrepute.”
“The ZIMURA Board hereby notifies its members and stakeholders that Phillip Chipfumbu was removed from the Board through a Board motion on 8 May 2023. The decision was taken after his recent actions that were deemed contrary to the Association’s procedures and culture,” said Gwenzi.
He said the Bulawayo trip was done above board.
“The trip was a .management normal activity as part of its day to day running of the Organisation. Management is mandated to carry out the day-to-day functions of ZIMURA including executing resolutions that the Board would have made. His claim that ZIMURA has no Management team is baseless and unfounded because there is a legally appointed Management team. The Board appoints the head of administration who in turn appoints other staff members. All employees at ZIMURA have employment contracts hence there are no ghost workers as wrongly claimed by Mr Chipfumbu,” wrote Gwenzi.
He said Chipfumbu’s claim and his friend’s comments that the Board members are thieves is a mere fabrication coming from an ill-informed and misguided element.
“No Board Member has misappropriated any funds from the Organisation. This claim is part of a smear campaign to tarnish the Board Members’ image and the ZIMURA brand. Soon the perpetrators will answer for Defamation and Cyber bullying charges that have been laid against them,” he said.
Gwenzi said a member will be appointed form the membership to replace Chipfumbu until the elective AGM in 2025. – state media
Beware Of Cholera
Cholera is a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting. The symptoms of cholera are:
large amounts of diarrhoea (which sometimes looks like rice water)
vomiting (which sometimes looks like rice water)
leg cramps
feeling weak.
Severe diarrhoea can cause dehydration, which can lead to weakness and even death if not treated rapidly. Symptoms and signs of dehydration are thirst, weakness or fatigue, sunken eyes and decreased skin elasticity.
Infants, young children, older people and people who are already sick are most at risk of getting severely ill if they get cholera. The most important things to reduce cholera deaths is for anyone with symptoms to drink oral rehydration solution as soon as they become ill, and to get to a health centre fast.
Not everyone who is infected with the bacteria gets ill. Approximately 20% of people who are infected with the bacteria get symptoms. Symptoms usually start between 12 hours and 5 days after being exposed. Of people with symptoms, usually 20–30% develop severe disease.
You can catch cholera by:
drinking contaminated water;
eating contaminated food (e.g., food that is raw, poorly cooked, or that becomes contaminated with poo (faeces) during preparation or storage);
contact with the poo (faeces), vomit or things that have been contaminated with the poo or vomit of someone who has cholera; and
unprotected contact with the body of someone who has died from cholera.

School Uniform War
A fortnight after the second semester of the year began, according to reports in the official media, schools are still disobeying a government order not to require parents to buy school uniforms only from the institutions of higher learning.
In order to give parents the power to shop elsewhere for uniforms at typically lower prices, the government has urged schools to stop requiring them to buy all of their children’s clothing from them.
Several schools made it a strict requirement that parents purchase uniforms only from the educational institutions, according to a uniforms controversy that was covered in the state media the day after classes started for the Second Term.
The item was titled “Schools “sewing uniform corruption.” Later, a member of our news team conducted an investigation where the reporter pretended to be a parent looking to purchase extra school supplies like tracksuits for Form 2 and Grade 5 students.
This is what we discovered after arming ourselves with the phone numbers of many boarding institutions dispersed throughout Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, and South Provinces.
Any uniforms purchased from vendors outside the school system will not be accepted, the receptionist at John Tallach, a prominent institution in Ntabazinduna on the outskirts of Bulawayo, declared when the phone rang.
“If you have any outstanding things that your child doesn’t have, like winter tracksuits, please come here and buy, nothing from outside will be tolerated,” said the receptionist over phone.
Mr Wisdom Chikomba, whose twin daughters finished their Form Four at John Tallach three years ago, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, said he endured the school’s strict policy on uniforms for years.
“It’s a very good school, no doubt about that but they can be very strict when it comes to buying uniforms from outside the school. For peace of mind it’s better to just buy your children’s uniforms from the school,” said Mr Chikomba.
John Tallach headmaster Bonakele Ncube denied the allegations.
“It is shocking and surprising to hear such allegations because the school has never at any time sold any uniforms. Our uniforms are bought from independent suppliers, with some parents in the clothing industry even joining independent of the school too. The school has never barred any student because of a uniform,” said the headmaster.
“We however do not accept customised uniforms that are visibly out of shape and style like ‘ompompi’ and o ‘don’t touch’ and altered dresses to be slim fits and mini-skirts or dresses. You are at liberty to visit the school to confirm the truth.”
Our nex stop was Empandeni High School in Mangwe District near Plumtree.
The school has both a primary and high school, which are located side by side in rural Mangwe, about 140 kilometres from Bulawayo.
A Mrs Dube who answered the phone assured Chronicle that everything that a parent wants for their child is available at the school, hence there is no need to buy from suppliers such as leading schools uniform dealers in Bulawayo or Plumtree.
Asked to talk to the school headmaster Mr Mandla Ndlovu, the news crew was told that he is Bulawayo on school business.
“I can’t comment on why uniforms from outside the school are not allowed. The headmaster is out of the office, maybe he can assist you,” Mrs Dube told the Chronicle.
In Bulawayo, at Matshayisikhova Primary School in Luveve suburb, a member of the school’s non-teaching staff also said parents are not advised to buy uniforms from outside.
“Sometimes parents buy uniforms, which don’t exactly meet the right colours of Matshayisikhova. So, the headmistress wants everyone to buy the school uniforms here.
“My children are now in secondary school so I don’t know how much the uniforms cost here but obviously the school will charge a bit extra to make a profit. That’s how it worked when my children were still in primary school here,” she said.
The news crew was given the school’s headmistress, Mrs Thabiso Phiri’s contact details but efforts to get a comment from her were fruitless as her phone continuously rang unanswered.
Primary and Secondary Education spokesman Taungana Ndoro is on record saying that the Government abhors the practice of schools forcing parents to buy uniforms only from the educational institutions.
“The ministry’s position has been very clear since 2018 that no parent must be forced to buy school uniforms at the school,” he said.
“Parents are free to buy wherever it is cheaper as long as they have the specifications from the schools and the right colour codes,” said Mr Ndoro. -state media
Gweru Clinic Opens 5 Years Later
Five years after it was finished, the City of Gweru finally opened the Pfende Satellite Clinic in Habern Park.
The clinic was formally launched by Brian Dube, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gweru Urban Constituency, who oversaw the project through the CDF.
Residents of Ward 2 have to travel a great distance to Whawha Clinic or Gweru Provincial Hospital for medical care, both of which are located close to Pfende Clinic.
Dube urged council members to prioritise service delivery. The region has low-income households, thus the council, according to him, should move quickly to provide services.
“Council should be serious about primary health issues. As you can see, Pfende is a peri-urban settlement. Most residents here are low-income families, and they cannot afford private hospitals or doctors. Some cannot afford bus fare to town or Whawha for medical attention.
“I want to advise the local authority to prioritize health issues and grow up in the provision of primary service delivery issues,” he said.
Council Health Director Samson Sekenhamo said late responses from the Medicines Control Board caused the delay in opening the clinic to the public. The acquisition of health licenses and the conferment of the Freedom of The City status to President Emmerson Mnangagwa also contributed to the delay.
However, residents described excuses by Sekenhamo as lame as other clinics in the province constructed later are already functional.
A Ward 2 resident Munashe Mkandla said it was prudent for the local authority to decongest other clinics long back by opening Pfende. He said the failure of the council to open the clinic on time was political.
“The clinic provides essential services to the community, and as residents, we were worried that Government wasted resources on something that remains a white elephant for such a long time.
“People with political gains should not control council by depriving its residents of key service delivery issues,” he said.-Masvingo Mirror

Pfumbidzai Leaves Chippa United
Ronald Pfumbidzai played his final game for South African top-flight side Chippa United on Saturday.
The Zimbabwean defender capped his one-year stay at the club by featuring in the goalless draw against Golden Arrows.
He came on as a second half substitute in the 58th minute and played the remainder of the game.
Pfumbidzai will join SuperSport United ahead of the 2023/24 season where he will share the same dressing room with compatriots Onismor Bhasera and George Chigova.

Zimpapers Dump Bulawayo Journalists
By-Bulawayo Journalists with the Zanu PF-controlled Zimpapers have written a letter complaining that their employer was abusing them.
Journalists with Zimpapers affiliates Sunday News, Chronicle, uMthunywa and B-Metro said they are being overworked and getting US$150 in monthly salaries.
Zimpapers is the country’s biggest newspaper group, used for Propaganda by the ruling Zanu PF government.
Below is the letter by the disgruntled Journalists:
“We the undersigned and being reporters in Sunday News, Chronicle, uMthunywa and B-Metro write to you to raise issues that affect our daily operations in the newsrooms as well as our grave welfare issues.
On our job execution, the situation is becoming gravely with each passing day as the few of us are expected to perform duties of a fully and well staffed newsroom.
One reporter is expected to do three print stories, three online stories and videos on a daily basis.
The only sports reporter is now working seven days a week, a shocking situation. All this is because of staffing incapacitation.
Students on attachment or correspondence are now the backbone of the newsrooms yet the opposite should entail.
We are also subsidising the company in the form of data, this over our meagre salaries.
The data issue has constantly been raised to no avail yet our core business is Digital and then Publishing.
Our newsrooms are an eyesore to the Brand as huge as Zimpapers, starting with furniture to everything. It’s now a haven of cockroaches, an embarrassment when visitors come through for interviews.
What is appalling is that whenever we have highly powered delegation including Government dignitaries, an all too good situation is presented, including clearing the court yard of broken down vehicles which we are made to use for our assignments.
So dire is the situation that we are no longer managing to meet our transport cost to work as public transport operators are now charging in forex, which we are not earning and which we can’t afford to get from the streets. It is in this regard that we as reporters based here in Bulawayo have met, caucased and resolved to inform your office as we hereby do of our incapacitation to both report to the newsrooms and also perform our duties to the satisfaction of the employer due to archaic and limited resources.
We are prepared to submit our content from home just like the peak of the Covid era, as long as the employer will supply us with data.
We also inform your good office that we have taken a position to formally engage our Ministry for onward engagement with His Excellency on our plight. We remain fully committed to execute our duties but we feel there is lack of reciprocation on the part of the employer, hence this uncomfortable but necessary position we have taken but which we believe is in the best interest of our welfare.
We are two months before crucial elections and one would expect a harmonious working situation yet the opposite is true.
We even wonder if our principal shareholder is aware of our grave situation at all, a further reason we now want to engage with him where we will highlight all these and other challenges that inhibits our work, especially now as we count down to elections.
However, we undertook to first try and find each other internally, thus this memo to your office of which we remain confident that solutions will be proffered urgently even before His
Excellency returns home.

By-Singer Tina Turner has died.
The yesteryear Rock star’s spokesperson announced that she died today at her home in Switzerland.
She was 83.
In a statement, they said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
The US-born star was one of the best-loved female rock singers known for her on-stage charisma and a string of hits.

ZEC Smuggles Out Voters Roll, Ignores Chamisa’s Electronic Copy Demands
By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has said it would open the voters roll for inspection to those registered to vote in the impending national polls.
ZEC says the public inspection will start on Saturday and run for five days.
The opposition has demanded that they be given access to the electronic copy of the voters’, and ZEC has refused.
According to ZEC, inspections will be carried out at all the 1 159 polling stations, while prospective voters can also check their names using the USSD code *265# if they are Econet or Net One subscribers and also on the ZEC’s website (www.bvrinspection.zec.org.zw).
The announcement was made by ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana in a statement yesterday.
“It is hereby notified that the ZEC shall open the voters roll to be used for the 2023 Harmonised Elections for inspection.
“The centres will open between 0700hrs and 1700hrs daily from the 27th of May 2023 to the 31st of May 2023.

Our newsrooms are an eyesore to the Brand as huge as Zimpapers, starting with furniture to everything. It’s now a haven of cockroaches, an embarrassment when visitors come through for interviews.
What is appalling is that whenever we have highly powered delegation including Government dignitaries, an all too good situation is presented, including clearing the court yard of broken down vehicles which we are made to use for our assignments.
So dire is the situation that we are no longer managing to meet our transport cost to work as public transport operators are now charging in forex, which we are not earning and which we can’t afford to get from the streets. It is in this regard that we as reporters based here in Bulawayo have met, caucased and resolved to inform your office as we hereby do of our incapacitation to both report to the newsrooms and also perform our duties to the satisfaction of the employer due to archaic and limited resources.
We are prepared to submit our content from home just like the peak of the Covid era, as long as the employer will supply us with data.
We also inform your good office that we have taken a position to formally engage our Ministry for onward engagement with His Excellency on our plight. We remain fully committed to execute our duties but we feel there is lack of reciprocation on the part of the employer, hence this uncomfortable but necessary position we have taken but which we believe is in the best interest of our welfare.
We are two months before crucial elections and one would expect a harmonious working situation yet the opposite is true.
We even wonder if our principal shareholder is aware of our grave situation at all, a further reason we now want to engage with him where we will highlight all these and other challenges that inhibits our work, especially now as we count down to elections.

Harare Lawyer Faces Investigation For Misconduct
By A Correspondent| The Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) is investigating a Harare lawyer Runouya Zimudzi of Zimudzi and Associates for alleged misconduct.
In a letter gleaned by ZimEye, Law Society of Zimbabwe Executive Secretary Edward Mapara said they had received a complaint of misconduct against Zimudzi from Angel Hill Mining Private Limited through their lawyer Artwell Kufandarerwa.
“Engaging in conduct that is likely either to diminish public confidence in the legal profession and or the administration of justice or to bring the legal profession into disrepute.
“Failing or neglecting to act with integrity, whether in the course of his other practice or otherwise,” said Mapara.
According to LSZ, Zimudzi contravened Section (23) (2) of the Legal Practitioners Act Chapter 27:07 as read with By-law 3 (20) and (21) of the Code of Conduct SI 37 of 2018.
LSZ gave Zimudzi 14 days to respond to the allegations levelled against him or face disciplinary action from the society’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee “without further reference” to him.

Pfumbidzai Joins Supersport United
Ronald Pfumbidzai played his final game for South African top-flight side Chippa United on Saturday.
The Zimbabwean defender capped his one-year stay at the club by featuring in the goalless draw against Golden Arrows.

Symptoms Of Cholera
Cholera is a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting. The symptoms of cholera are:

Infants, young children, older people and people who are already sick are most at risk of getting severely ill if they get cholera. The most important things to reduce cholera deaths is for anyone with symptoms to drink oral rehydration solution as soon as they become ill, and to get to a health centre fast.
Not everyone who is infected with the bacteria gets ill. Approximately 20% of people who are infected with the bacteria get symptoms. Symptoms usually start between 12 hours and 5 days after being exposed. Of people with symptoms, usually 20–30% develop severe disease.
You can catch cholera by:
drinking contaminated water;
eating contaminated food (e.g., food that is raw, poorly cooked, or that becomes contaminated with poo (faeces) during preparation or storage);
contact with the poo (faeces), vomit or things that have been contaminated with the poo or vomit of someone who has cholera; and
unprotected contact with the body of someone who has died from cholera.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has pushed back the Voters’ Roll inspection dates in the run-up to the country’s 2023 Harmonized elections.
ZEC had originally scheduled that the Voters’ Roll would be displayed for inspection from the 26th May to 30th May 2023, from 7 am to 5 pm at advised polling centers.
However, ZEC has now pushed back the dates to 27th May to 31st May 2023.

ZEC Opens Voters Roll For Public Inspection, Hides It Fom Chamisa
By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has opened the voters roll for inspection to those registered to vote in the impending national polls.
ZEC says the public inspection will start on Saturday and run for five days.
Inspections will be carried out at all the 1 159 polling stations, while prospective voters can also check their names using the USSD code *265# if they are Econet or Net One subscribers and also on the ZEC’s website (www.bvrinspection.zec.org.zw).
The announcement was made by ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana in a statement yesterday.
“It is hereby notified that the ZEC shall open the voters roll to be used for the 2023 Harmonised Elections for inspection.
“The centres will open between 0700hrs and 1700hrs daily from the 27th of May 2023 to the 31st of May 2023.

SABC Airs Documentary On Chamisa’s 2018 Campaign Trail
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) recently aired the documentary “President,” which details opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa‘s 2018 electoral campaign trail.
The documentary was banned in Zimbabwe last year by the ZANU PF government on the basis that it had the potential to incite violence as the country heads for another round of elections.
Censorship and Entertainment Control Unit deputy director Oscar Mugomeri cited the Censorship and Entertainments Control Act, which states that films or film advertisements contrary to public order should not be approved.
The documentary, directed by Danish filmmaker Camilla Nielsson, is a sequel to her 2013 documentary “Democrats,” which chronicled the construction of Zimbabwe’s constitution.
Despite the ban, the documentary was aired on SABC 3 on Monday night and quickly went viral on various social media platforms. The film’s release has reignited debates about freedom of expression in Zimbabwe and the role of the Censorship Board in regulating media content.
Information deputy minister Kindness Paradza responded to the controversy by stating that the film did not meet the standards to be broadcast in the mainstream media in Zimbabwe, but that its release on social media was beyond the control of the Censorship Board.
He emphasized that Zimbabwe is a free country that guarantees freedom of expression under the constitution.
The airing of “President” highlights the tension between the government’s desire to regulate media content and the public’s demand for transparency and accountability.
Zimbabwe is preparing to hold harmonised elections in August this year and Chamisa is set to face President Mnangagwa who narrowly defeated him in a contested 2018 election.
Opposition Party Chickens Out Of 2023 Harmonised Elections
The Zimbabwe Communist Party (ZCP) will not contest this year’s general elections, instead electing to rebuild its party membership and focus on the 2028 elections.
In an interview with CITE, Mabhena stated that while the ZCP has the potential to make a significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s economic and political scene, the party will not run for office.
“Our thrust is to bring local people together, create dialogue with Zimbabweans in order to revive the country which is facing serious social, economic and political problems,” he said but acknowledged that ZCP still had to grow internally.
“We are small, we do not have the numbers. We are a vanguard and not a mass party. A vanguard in the sense that we are part of professional revolutionaries schooled in scientific socialism or in Marxist and Leninist philosophy.”
Mabhena stated that to win elections, a political party needs numbers, which they do not have as yet.
“We are going to build our party cadres before we embark on mass recruitment,” he said and further stated that while the ZCP will be sitting out of the elections, the party will not be offering its support to any other party either.
“Our focus is on rebuilding ourselves to be a formidable challenger.”
The general secretary stated the present ZCP membership considered that not participating in this year’s polls was a sensible move since national elections were serious business, which required leadership that would deliver, rather than play with voters’ expectations.
When it comes to the reasons why some political parties do not fight with others in elections, political analyst Bernard Magugu believes there is nothing wrong with a political party sitting out of elections if it realises it lacks capability.
He stated that the dilemma in Zimbabwe is a leadership crisis driven by politicians’ desperation to be in power while they were ill-prepared to deliver solutions to the electorate’s problems.
“Because of that desperation by politicians, that makes elections not to be free and fair because individuals are willing to contest in an environment that is not conducive or when they are not ready to be leaders,” Magugu said.
Magugu pointed out that political parties must sit down and evaluate themselves before going into national elections.
“Every organisation must conduct an audit of their chances in the polls and ask themselves if people will vote for them if they ‘go to the streets.’ The problem with political parties or politicians is they lie a lot yet they must be honest and discuss if their message is understood by the people. Once the message is understood by the people, their voter numbers increase,” he explained.
The political analyst also noted that some institutions and even people capitalised on the greed of politicians during election time.
“You see politicians spending money on trivial things as they try to buy votes and the voters themselves want that money because they know it is just short term,” Magugu claimed.
“If you ask me how to make sure our elections are respected, are free and fair, processes have to be designed so there will be control and auditing of politicians and the electoral processes. If people know they can be called to account, they will probably be more cautious and serious about elections.”

Sithule Tshuma Evades Hwange Meeting As Pressure Mounts To Refund 500 Women Sold Fake Properties
By James Gwati | The Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube linked UK businesswoman Sithule Tshuma, has abandoned an investment-members meeting as she faces pressure from hundreds of women demanding their refunds over fake properties she sold them.
Sithule Tshuma avoided the weekend (Sunday) online meeting she had scheduled with the women she sold the totally bogus properties in Hwange.
“She was in a no show at the meeting she initiated and said that it (the meeting) would be done during the week,” said one of the female investors.
“We called her on her other private phone and asked her why she was not addressing the meeting she organised and the response was not convincing,” said another investor.
“I was supprised to realise a few minutes before the meeting that she had removed me from the WhatsApp group and I think she did that because I had previously hinted that I was going to ask her to give me back my money,” another woman said.
Later in the night, Sithule Tshuma went on to delete her Twitter account after investors bombarded her with the core question regarding why she appeared pretending to be suing UK-based journalists who live in her neighbourhood and who she sends letters using Zimbabwe addresses.
A Zimbabwean had asked Tshuma through the same Twitter account to reveal her UK address in the summons she is sending journalists she says she is suing, albeit utilising an address that’s 8700km away from her official and home address.
Sithule Tshuma, five years ago, launched her Qoki Zindlovukazi Investment Group promising she was out to empower women with title deeds in a scheme later described by one of her own loyal aides, as totally built on fraud money.
At the weekend, Tshuma issued a second letter threatening legal action against ZimEye, but one that was both faceless and nameless, furthermore wielding a Bulawayo address. She was asked why she is failing to disclose her UK whereabouts or at least a serving address, “if you are not a fraudster,” after which her account was deactivated.

ZEC Exposed For It’s Role In Aiding Zanu PF Rigging Scheme
ZANU PF has exposed its alliance with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) after the ruling party revealed that it would use the voters roll to verify its members’ registration status in the upcoming voters’ roll inspection exercise.
A leaked Zanu PF party internal memo seen by NewsDay shows that the ruling party has ordered its grassroots structures to ensure that every member who appeared in the party cell registers is in the voters roll during the upcoming voters roll inspection exercise.
Zec yesterday announced that voters roll inspection will begin on Saturday and end next Wednesday.
The commission’s deputy chairperson Rodney Simukai Kiwa recently told NewsDay that it would not avail the voters roll to the public until President Emmerson Mnangagwa proclaims the date for the upcoming elections.
But in a letter dated May 19, 2023 copied to Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi, chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, national political commissar Mike Bimha directed party provincial chairpersons to ensure that party members who appeared in cell registers, but were not in the voters roll are registered as voters during the voters roll inspection exercise.
During the process, Bimha said Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) and Heritage Trust constituency co-ordinators would help in the registration verification process.
FAZ and Heritage, linked to Central Intelligence Organisation and Military Intelligence Corps, respectively, ran the party’s recent primary elections.
“The Zec voters roll is polling station-based, making the cell structure the most important organ in mobilising members for inspection for this programme to be a success, cell chairpersons and a team comprising cell main wing political commissar, cell women’s league chairwoman, cell youth league chairperson and a war veteran at each polling station should be responsible and account for each member in the cell registers,” Bimha said in the memo.
“Provincial command centres should assist in ensuring party members whose names do not appear in the Zec voters roll are registered without fail.”
Zec chief election officer Utoile Silaigwana said the electoral management body would not comment on party issues.
He said the voters roll that was being used by political players had been obtained during the March 26, 2022 by-elections.
“I do not comment on what happens within political parties because I am not part of them. On the issue of the voters roll, we have always said everyone who contests in an election has access to the voters roll and they are given it for free at the nomination court. So if that person has access to the voters roll and uses it in whatever way they like, where does Zec get in?” Silaigwana said.
But Bimha told NewsDay that the party would use the voters’ roll to verify the registration of its membership because Zec has the mandate to avail the voters roll during such exercises as the voters roll inspection.
“The directive was in preparation of the upcoming voter inspection process. We will be using the Zec voters roll to verify. There is an inspection, so they will avail the voters roll for us to see which of our members is not registered to vote. Zec is required to ensure that the people have inspected the voters roll. Now that Zec has published the dates for the voters roll inspection, we are going to write to our members to inform them about that so that they start the preparations,” Bimha said.
Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change raised concern over the different dates for the voters roll inspection exercise which had been scheduled for May 26 before it later changed to May 27.

Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the arrest of Muzorora of Village 7, Matedzi in Chiredzi and his subsequent release to avoid detaining him for more than 48 hours.
He said the girl was found in Bocha on Tuesday, allegedly after being sent away from the accused’s home to avoid Police. She has since been taken for medical examinations and is in a safe house.
Dhewa said Muzorora’s arrest was a preliminary investigation by the Police, the Department of Social Welfare and Child Line Services.

Man Fakes Own Robbery
A man who fraudulently reported to the police that he was robbed of $2,500 at gunpoint has been punished.
Martin Denga (29), who had purchased food for a friend, reported to the police that he had been robbed as he was travelling to Kuwadzana.
However, it was eventually discovered that Denga had wasted the cash.
He showed up in court, admitted to obstructing justice, and was given the option of paying a $100 fine or serving three months in jail.
On the morning of April 29, Denga reported being robbed at gunpoint to Constable Nyangani at Milton Park Police Station.
He claimed that on April 28, after receiving US dollars, he went to N Richards on Bulawayo Road to purchase goods for Solomon Mudoti using the Zimbabwean dollar.
At around 6.30 p.m., he was offered a ride by three persons in a silver Honda Fit, and at the point of guns, they robbed him of his cash and mobile.
CID Homicide was given the case by Cst. Nyangani for additional investigation.
When Mudoti was questioned by CID Homicide, he denied ever handing Denga any money.
After spending money that was handed to him by someone else for safekeeping, Denga later acknowledged that he had made a fraudulent report.

Kwekwe Accident
After a Nissan NP300 crashed with a Honda Fit on the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road on Sunday night, four persons died there and two more died afterwards.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, a spokesperson for the National Police, verified the incident to The Mirror. On May 21, 2023, near the 15km peg along the Kwekwe-Gokwe route, the accident occurred about 6 o’clock.
He claimed there were eight people inside the Honda Fit.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which six people died and seven others injured at the 15 km peg, along the Kwekwe – Gokwe road on May 21, 2023at about 18 00hrs.
“A Nissan NP300 with three passengers on board, which was travelling towards Kwekwe, was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit vehicle with eight passengers on board, which was travelling in the opposite direction,” he said.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police urged drivers to exercise patience on the road and obey traffic laws, he said.- Agencies

Govt’s CALA Is A Scam
By Dorrothy Moyo | Parents who attended the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s two-day Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) curriculum review consultation workshops stated the CALA should be eliminated since they are difficult for students to learn.
Players in the education sector began holding discussions on Monday as part of the effort to evaluate the curriculum.
Parents and guardians were invited to express their opinions on the CALA yesterday.
They claimed that CALA must be eliminated since many students come from underprivileged backgrounds and find it difficult to accomplish the necessary tasks.
Some claimed that because they have network issues and lack internet connectivity, they are more challenging for students from remote locations.
CALA are quite expensive, according to Mrs. Patricia Manzini, a parent of three students at Thomas Rudland Primary School.
She claimed that as a result, the education of underprivileged students was now in jeopardy.
As it is, we are unable to afford even a necessity like bread, and everyone is aware of the current state of the nation.
The CALA mandates that students conduct research and print out various materials that will be required for filing.
As Mrs. Manzini noted, “It really adds up, and parents select things that seem to be more necessary, like food, instead of spending money on these papers that need to be produced.
Mrs. Sophia Musinazano, another parent, stated that CALA problems were not only a problem for students in rural regions who had trouble with connectivity while conducting their research, but they were also a problem for students living in metropolitan areas who had trouble with money issues when completing their projects.
She claimed that as a result, students forfeit the 30% they would have received if they had independently studied and prepared for tests.
If the government is interested in doing this, it should install free, limitless WiFi in all schools and permit students to bring their iPhones to class. They can all do their work in this manner.
“In order for those who live in rural areas to receive the same benefits, network boosters must be deployed. The CALAs should be eliminated if that cannot be accomplished, according to Mrs. Musinazano.
The competence-based curriculum is being reevaluated after its first seven-year cycle, which began in 2015 and ended last year.
The curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge and abilities they will need to thrive in the technologically advanced 21st century.
Professor Lwazi Sibanda, an expert in education and executive dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Education at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust), claimed in an interview that the competence-based curriculum has ushered in a new generation of skilled learners who don’t just memorise theories to pass exams.
She claimed that the education industry must address the problems with CALA while evaluating the curriculum.
“The CALA issue needs to be addressed because it is common to find that parents complete assignments rather than students. The students are the ones who should be carrying out this task independently, according to her.
“Unlike what we are seeing currently, the issue of ongoing assessment needs to be clearly stated out. The way that parents and guardians are behaving is as though they are the ones learning. There are various banners in the streets where people will advertise that they complete CALA assignments.
According to Prof. Sibanda, CALA should foster students’ creativity, but this cannot happen if parents and guardians complete the homework.
She claimed that curriculum evaluations are essential to balancing planned goals with actual results and staying current with global trends.
“The curriculum revision is crucial so that as a country we can adopt the latest educational ideas from around the world. Education is not static; it is dynamic. Therefore, we must maintain it in step with international trends to ensure that our students obtain the skills they need to succeed in life, she said.
“The hands-on approach used in the curriculum is a positive development. The competence-based curriculum addresses the competencies that students possess when they graduate from school. In contrast to the former situation, where students were required to memorise theories, it promotes learners to have abilities.

Pretty Tore is Major Siphiwe Motsi’s niece.
Major Siphiwe Motsi who survived the accident is reportedly stable, she has been admitted and awaiting surgery on her fractured hand and jaw on Monday at Mahalapye Hospital.

Kadewere To Leave Real Mallorca ?
Tinotenda Kadewere has opened up on his next move as his loan deal with Real Mallorca is nearing its end.
The Warriors international joined the La Liga side in August last year on a season-long loan deal from the French side.
The transfer marked the first time a Zimbabwean joined a Spanish top-flight club.
With just a month left before his loan stay expire, Kadewere, 27, said he is open to remain at Mallorca.
He said, as quoted by Soccer Laduma, “I feel really happy here and I am playing with a great group of guys so whatever happens I am up for it.

Meanwhile, according to French outlet L’Équipe, the loan deal has a buy-option, which would be made compulsory for Mallorca to oblige under certain conditions.

The country’s senior men’s national soccer team —the Warriors —will likely miss out on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers should the ban imposed on the country by FIFA not be lifted by July 12.
Zimbabwe was suspended by the world governing body in February last year, after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA executive for a litany of allegations, chief among them failure to account for public funds.
Consequently, the Warriors missed out on the Afcon 2023 qualifiers, and will not be at the biannual spectacle for the first time since 2017.
As FIFA insists on the unconditional reinstatement of the Kamambo-led board as the only condition for the suspension to be lifted, the Warriors will likely miss out on the expanded World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
For the first time in the history of the global spectacle, Africa will have nine spots at the 2026 edition —to be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
CAF announced this week that the draw for the World Cup qualifiers for Africa will take place in Benin on July 12, while the qualifiers will start in November 2023.
“On the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, the Executive Committee approved the format, dates of the Qualifiers. The new format has been adapted in line with FIFA’s expanded FIFA World Cup format and will involve all the 54 Member Associations of CAF who will be divided into nine (9) Groups,” CAF said in a statement.
“Winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The winner (CAF Play-Off tournament) will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.
“The Executive Committee announced that the Official Draw of the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers will be on Wednesday 12 July 2023 in Cotonou, Benin – the night before the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.”

Kariba Slay-Queen Sues WhatsApp Groups
By-A Kariba bases socialite has sued two WhatsApp group users for cyberbullying after she soiled herself during a beer binge.
Melissa ‘Mel’cee’ Chigwada is suing two social media users she is accusing of tagging and posting her pictures in a ladies’ group.
Contacted for comment, Melissa did not want to discuss the issue with this newspaper.
The matter is set for the Kariba Magistrates’ Court today where the two are facing cyberbullying charges.
“Pana popular slay queen vemuKariba who went out with some rich guys and had too much to drink before she messed herself,” said a source.
“So, being a public figure, the story went viral in WhatsApp groups and now she suing two ladies and they are going to court on Monday.
“Vanozvinzwa zvekudaro, zviri zvevamwe vanofamba nadzo, people were discussing in a ladies group and she is part of that group.
“So, she just picked two names and they have been summoned to court.
“She wants to threaten the public, she is trying to silence people not to talk about the issue.

Another source said: “You know the issue was discussed in most Kariba groups and picking individuals was totally unfair.

Baba Manyeruke Loses Cars To Con-Men
By-Veteran gospel musician Baba Mechanic Manyeruke has lost two cars to bogus police.
The con men approached the 82-year-old musician masquerading as cops and claiming ties to high-ranking politicians.
The cars, valued at US$16 500, have since been recovered.
The suspects were arrested in Harare and Marondera.
They appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Courts on Friday charged with fraud.
Regional Chida, 37, and Ezra Manzvidza, 23, were remanded in custody to today for bail considerations.
It is the State’s case that the legendary gospel singer wanted to host a retirement gala in November last year.
His plan was to use a grand platform to make an honourable exit from an industry that has won him many souls in a journey that spans five decades.
Manyeruke met Manzvidza, who had come to his house to enquire whether he needed any help in his project, and he told him that his Nissan Patrol vehicle, Registration Number AAP 7305, needed some repairs.
Manzvidza went back to Chida with the feedback.
After three days Manzvidza returned to Manyeruke’s house and told him that the car was needed for servicing at CMED.
The legendary musician complied and handed over the car, keys and registration book.
Manzvidza drove the car and handed it to Chida who parked it in the Parliament premises.
At the end of February this year, a third accused, who is still at large, called Manyeruke using mobile number 0773 554 307, and said he needed a vehicle to transport US$97 000 from Marondera.
The musician handed over a Honda CRV to Chida.
When Manyeruke later made efforts to recover his vehicles, the phones of the accused were no longer reachable.
As he was passing through Parliament one day, Manyeruke saw his Nissan Patrol parked on the premises and reported the matter to police leading to Chida’s arrest.
Manzvidza was later arrested on May 17 in Marondera and both vehicles were recovered.

ZEP Holders In Suspense
By- Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEPs) holders are in a state of panic as they await a ruling from the courts on whether they can remain in that country.
This is despite the non-extension of The High Court Division in Gauteng, South Africa, which was supposed to have ruled on the challenge filed last year by the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF), a human rights organisation seeking to overturn a government decision not to prolong the ZEPs in 2021.
The South African government ordered Zimbabweans to move to other permits available within their country or depart at the end of 2022, HSF argued that the non-extension was unlawful and unreasonable.
South Africa then temporarily extended ZEP holders’ stay until June of this year, after which Zimbabweans are expected to return home.
In an interview with CITE, African Diaspora Global Network leader, Dr Vusumuzi Sibanda said people were still waiting for the High Court’s decision, which was causing concern among Zimbabweans because the June deadline was just around the corner
“Well, we are still awaiting the decision of the court. There is pandemonium because people are panicking from every angle, not knowing what exactly they should be doing because obviously the deadline is looming,” he said.
“People do not know how they will be able to proceed with work, considering they don’t have valid permits and they don’t know. It’s a reality now and dawned to many that (returning to Zimbabwe) is what might happen.”
To be fair, Dr Sibanda stated that the ruling was not ‘really’ delayed because there were numerous arguments to examine since several parties were interested in the case and filed their own reasons.
“Maybe the case was heard late due to the Home Affairs department which was never ready since last September. We are seeing a lot of people asking about waivers and what needs to be done. But you also see the VFS department, (official partner of the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa) on the waivers is no longer giving people dates on when they can apply. So, we’re not sure what exactly is happening,” said the migrant activist.
As a result, a majority of Zimbabwean migrants are ‘really’ concerned, according to Dr Sibanda.
“People are running all over the show every day. We’ve received a hoard of inquiries about what alternatives they may do. Others are thinking about their property, how they will secure their property. if these permits are not renewed. Others want to know if there are other alternatives that they may actually and resort to, because now it has become a reality to a lot of people that were still hopeful that maybe there is a change that might take place,” he said.
“But it is very clear that something is going to happen and people need to do something. So yes, we see quite a lot of movement and anxiety every day.”
Some Zimbabweans in South Africa who had applied for waivers said they were still waiting to hear the outcome of their applications.
“We received a message from Home Affairs last week notifying us that our waiver outcome will be sent via the email address we provided when we submitted to VFS. We wait and see,” said one applicant who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.
In its legal challenge, case no 32323/20233, HSF was joined by a second applicant the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa (CORMSA) as the second applicant in terms of an order of this court of September 16, 2022.

“On the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, the Executive Committee approved the format, dates of the Qualifiers. The new format has been adapted in line with FIFA’s expanded FIFA World Cup format and will involve all the 54 Member Associations of CAF who will be divided into nine (9) Groups,” CAF said in a statement.
“Winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The winner (CAF Play-Off tournament) will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.
“The Executive Committee announced that the Official Draw of the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers will be on Wednesday 12 July 2023 in Cotonou, Benin – the night before the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.”

Kadewere Speaks On Future
Tinotenda Kadewere has opened up on his next move as his loan deal with Real Mallorca is nearing its end.
The Warriors international joined the La Liga side in August last year on a season-long loan deal from the French side.
The transfer marked the first time a Zimbabwean joined a Spanish top-flight club.
With just a month left before his loan stay expire, Kadewere, 27, said he is open to remain at Mallorca.
He said, as quoted by Soccer Laduma, “I feel really happy here and I am playing with a great group of guys so whatever happens I am up for it.
“I am ready to be here and I am also ready to go back (to Lyon) and start afresh.”
Meanwhile, according to French outlet L’Équipe, the loan deal has a buy-option, which would be made compulsory for Mallorca to oblige under certain conditions.
If that buy-option is activated, the La Liga club would pay a transfer fee of €10m.
The fee is €2m lesser than what Lyon paid Le Havre for the player’s switch in 2020.

The most important things to reduce cholera deaths is for anyone with symptoms to drink oral rehydration solution as soon as they become ill, and to get to a health centre fast.
Not everyone who is infected with the bacteria gets ill. Approximately 20% of people who are infected with the bacteria get symptoms. Symptoms usually start between 12 hours and 5 days after being exposed. Of people with symptoms, usually 20–30% develop severe disease.
You can catch cholera by:
drinking contaminated water;
eating contaminated food (e.g., food that is raw, poorly cooked, or that becomes contaminated with poo (faeces) during preparation or storage);
contact with the poo (faeces), vomit or things that have been contaminated with the poo or vomit of someone who has cholera; and
unprotected contact with the body of someone who has died from cholera.

Mnangagwa Could Face Another Protest Vote From Zanu PF Supporters
A protest vote is looming in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s backyard in Midlands where Zanu PF grassroots are rejecting recently elected party candidates in more than 10 constituencies.
Insiders said a bhora musango/ibhola egangeni was looming in constituencies where Mnangagwa’s allies allegedly hijacked internal processes to deploy their associates to represent the ruling party in the upcoming elections.
Bhora musango was popularised during the 2008 elections where Zanu PF supporters voted for the ruling party candidates for parliamentary seats while rejecting the late president Robert Mugabe for factional reasons.
Mugabe was almost booted out of power after subsequently losing to the late opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the election.
He only survived through a violent campaign ahead of a presidential run-off where he ran unchallenged after Tsvangirai pulled out citing violence against his supporters.
In the latest Zanu PF internal wars, insiders said the protests in the Midlands were against Mnangagwa’s allies.
According to insiders, there is simmering discontent in the party in the way the primaries were handled where Mnangagwa’s allies held sway on who was to be elected or not.
Sources said Local Government minister July Moyo, former State Security minister Owen Ncube, politburo member Mackenzie Ncube and Tsitsi Muzenda ran rings around the Forever Associate Zimbabwe (FAZ) and Heritage Trust, who were running the elections.
The FAZ is controlled by the Central Intelligence Organisation while the Heritage Trust is linked to the army.
FAZ, led by CIO deputy director general Walter Tapfumaneyi had the major say in the elections, according to a Zanu PF internal document titled Talking Points dated March 27.
However, The Standard established that Mnangagwa’s allies in Midlands hijacked the election process from FAZ and Heritage.
It was established that party supporters are not happy with the party’s candidates in Zvishavane, Chirumanzi-Zibagwe, Mkoba South, Mkoba Urban, Vungu, Redcliff-Silobela, Kwekwe Central, Mbizo, Gokwe North , Gokwe-Kana and Gokwe-Chireya.
It is also the same situation in Gokwe South, Shurugwi North, Shurugwi South, Mberengwa and Gokwe Sesame.
“In Zvishavane-Runde, more than 10 districts did not vote because ward 7 councillor Mecky Jaravaza, who is also the district coordinating chairperson (DCC), elbowed out Dumezweni Mawite and declared himself the winner,” an insider said.
“Larry Mavima was also elbowed out by the same DCC.
“In Mberengwa, MPs Marko Raidza and Makhosini Hlongwane were also pushed out because they were not on the July Moyo/Mudha list.
“In Chirumanzi district, Barbara Rwodzi ran the show and videos are there where she was forcing people to vote for her.”
The source added: “In Shurugwi North, the sitting MP Ronald Nyathi was pushed out while in Gweru district where Zanu PF had one seat, the sitting MP for Vungu constituency, Omega Sibanda, was pushed out after ballot papers were forcibly taken away from a constituency consultant (FAZ member) by a sitting MP from Kwekwe.”
“Brown Ndlovu, who has been a perennial loser in Chiwundura, is now the Vungu constituency candidate.
“In Kwekwe, Manoki Mpofu was pushed out of Silobela constituency for Jona Nyebvera while Energy Dhala Ncube, a nephew of the former State Security minister Owen Ncube was unchallenged in Kwekwe Central.”
This publication heard that Mnangagwa’s allies who ran the show were uncontested in their constituencies.
“In Gokwe South, they imposed Tawanda Karikoga despite the fact that he stays in South Africa while Paul Mavima was uncontested despite scandals,” a source said.
“In Gokwe North, Mayor Wadyajena was pushed aside because he was not part of their team.
Last week, the party deployed party secretary for security Lovemore Matuke to extinguish the flames in the Midlands, but the meetings were poorly attended.
“Until the president comes down to explain what happened, and hear our concerns and complaints, Zanu PF may end up losing a lot of seats in Midlands as things stand,” an insider said.
“Samuel Mumbengegwi is in charge of Midlands, but he has failed to put a firm hand and take control of the province.
“Everything is happening in his eyes. . . Mumbengegwi was once warned by the President that he must pull his socks up.
“We appeal to the President to send an investigative team to probe the goings on because the party is going to lose many seats.
“Those who were announced as winners are even failing to mobilise the number of people that allegedly voted for them in the primaries.”
Another source said Mnangagwa’s allies, after sensing resistance, have started turning to artisanal miners to lead violent election campaigns.
On Sunday last week, some youth members and gold panners under the hashtag #Talibans were treated to alcohol at Mbizo Secondary School to solicit their support for campaigns.
Mnangagwa has said he will announce election dates before the end of the month.
Mnangagwa has hinted that elections will be held in August where he will seek re-election for a second term.
Insiders, however, said Mnangagwa faces a tall order owing to simmering divisions in the party.
Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi last week exposed the discontent in Zanu PF when he warned the ruling party members against revolting once they were elected into office.

Did You Know Playing With Your Lover’s Child Can Get You Stabbed?
Beitbridge Magistrate, lnnocent Bepura has remanded a man in custody for allegedly stabbing his ex-wife’s lover twice for playing with his child.
Wellman Ncube (22) of Tshamunanga Village under Chief Sitaudze allegedly stabbed Robin Zhou (24) of Bishopstone with a knife once under the left armpit and on the lower left abdomen.
The incident happened on March 17, 2023, at Bishopstone Farm Compound.
Circumstances are that on March 16, 2023, around 8 pm, Ncube passed through his ex-wife’s place and saw Zhou holding his child. He charged at him and head-butted him once. Zhou ran away.
The next day, around 2 am, Ncube opened his ex-wife’s unlocked door and found Zhou sleeping with her.
He charged at him armed with a knife and stabbed him once on the lower abdomen and once under the left armpit. Zhou was using a blanket to protect himself.
Neighbours rescued Zhou, and he escaped and ran away for 50m before he lost consciousness.
He had protruding intestines and was rushed to Beitbridge District Hospital before being transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital.
A Police report was filed at Beitbridge Rural Police Station leading, to Ncube’s arrest.

Suspected Card Cloners Nabbed At The Airport With Surgical Blades, Tempered Credit Cards
SIX suspected card cloners yesterday appeared in court after they were arrested while in possession of instruments used in the commission of the offence.
The suspects — Fungal Samurewo (35), Frank Chikoto (36), Clever Manhombo (40), Pardon Muwungani (28), Takudzwa Chikowora (26) and Tererai Chakanyuka (18) — were facing charges of unauthorised use and possession of credit or debit cards when they appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
They were remanded in custody to today for bail application.
Allegations are that on May 19, 2023, detectives from CID Homicide received information that the six accused persons had been arrested at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in possession of a suspected firearm.
Detectives then proceeded to the airport, where it was established that the alleged firearm was an air gun with an empty magazine.
The accused persons were searched and found in possession of two surgical blades, seven bank cards, super glue, and a cigarette lighter, items used in the commission of fraud cases.
It is alleged that Samurewo was in possession of a FNB visa card number 5578 9650 6333 8519 with a tampered chip, and a one money debit card, and a tampered with FBC debit card 5049 9290 0030 1616 bearing the name Talent Kisimusi.
The State alleges that Manhombo was found in possession of a Steward bank card, a tampered with FBC card 6017 0490 0091 8099 bearing the name Wenyika Micheal.
It is the State’s case that Muwungani was found in possession of two surgical blades, one used super glue and a tampered with FBC debit card 6017 0490 0063 3375 bearing the name Mukunguma Courage and a tampered with CABS debit card 5888 9250 4065 6526 bearing the name Kuuzabuwe G.
The accused persons were interviewed and failed to give a reasonable excuse explanation for being in possession of the aforementioned items as none of the accused were the owners of the debit cards or authorized to be in possession of the same.

Re-engagement will depend on holding credible 2023 elections” AfDB warns. At long last, some home-truths
By Wilbert Mukori- “The African Development Bank has moved to fast-track Zimbabwe’s $3.5 billion compensation to white farmers whose land was seized under former president Robert Mugabe’s reforms. The bank is leading efforts to clear Zimbabwe’s crippling debts,” reported the French publication RFI.
“A revived Zimbabwe is good for Africa. A revived Zimbabwe is good for the world,” said Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) at a debt resolution forum held this week in the capital Harare.
The AfDB is co-chairing a process aimed at clearing the country’s $6 billion of external debt arrears that also includes reforms to the exchange rate and central bank.
“Zimbabwe cannot run up the hill of economic recovery carrying a backpack of debt on its back,” added Adesina.
This is just nonsense! Zimbabwe has the wealth to clear these debts without the need for outside help and everyone at AfDB knows that!
Zimbabwe has been losing US$1.6 billion per year to gold smugglers alone. We know looting has been going on in other areas too such as diamonds, lithium, platinum, in the procurement of fuel and medicine, etc. In 2016 the late dictator, Robert Mugabe, said Zimbabwe was swindled out of US$15 billion in diamond revenue!
In 2019 the Governor of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Dr John Mangudya said Zimbabwe could pay off all her debts and pay for the country’s development needs without borrowing a penny from anyone if – a big IF – the country stamped out the rampant corruption and gross mismanagement. For once, the Governor was being honest!
Besides, the whole concept of the US$3.5 billion compensation for the white farmers, for the movable assets they were forced to leave behind during the farm invasions, being born by the ordinary Zimbabweans is an outrage.
Why should the ordinary taxpayer who have paid dearly because of the agricultural and economic collapse caused by farm seizures? The individuals who profited from the farm seizures, some of them to the tune of 21 commercial farms as Bona Mugabe, should pay the compensation!
The forum noted the importance of Zimbabwe’s coming elections being free, fair and credible in advancing dialogue with the West and financial institutions.
“The people of Zimbabwe and the international community will be watching very closely. The full weight of re-engagement with the international community will not just depend on the election, but on the entire electoral process that guarantees a credible election,” said AfDB president, Adesina.
After – what – 43 years of talking in riddle, it is refreshing to hear the AfDB and other busy bodies telling the Zanu PF some home-truths for a change!
Sadly, the AfDB is bolting the door long after the horse has bolted. The Zimbabwe elections are three months away and the regime has stubbornly refused to implement even one token democratic reform, refused to produce even something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, etc. Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections just as readily as it has rigged past elections.
Even if there was time to implement reforms, Dr Adesina would be wasting his breathe asking CCC to boycott the 2023 elections to pile the pressure on Zanu PF to implement reforms. Others like SADC and the EU have tried and their advice fell on deaf ears. CCC leaders are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections, knowing the process is flawed and that doing so would only give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy. They are participating regardless out of greed – the same reason they failed to implement even one reform during the GNU.
“The crisis in the country is having terrible consequences for the region as Zimbabwe lies at the heart of southern Africa,” argued former President of Mozambique Joaquim Chissano. He is the facilitator of this high-level dialogues to help Zimbabwe re-engage with the West.
Former President Chissano would do Zimbabwe and the whole region a great favour telling SADC leaders they must judge the Zimbabwe elections on merit. In the past, the regional body has endorsed rigged elections and granted Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship. This must stop!

Mthuli UK Woman Deletes Own Twitter Account As Qoki Investigation Intensifies | BREAKING

Mnangagwa In shocking Wealth Display
By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week displayed an incredibly unexplained wealth to Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi, who was on a state visit.
Mnangagwa took Nyusi to his Kwekwe farm and showed him his wealth.
The Zanu PF leader paraded his prized herd of Ankole cattle.
The Ankole cattle are one of the most expensive breeds in Africa.
They are known for their long horns and are a modern American breed of domestic cattle.
During Nyusi’s visit to Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, it came to light that Mnangagwa owns more than 2 000 cattle and has been slaughtering two beasts a week since 2008 to feed his staff at the farm.
Mnangagwa also owns over 400 goats as well as chickens, it was uncovered.
It was not mentioned how many Ankole cattle the President has.
Across the border, Mnangagwa’s counterpart in South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa also owns the expensive breed.
Ramaphosa is the biggest Ankole breed farmer in South Africa and has been auctioning his cattle at very elite prices.
In 2022, an auction of the cattle at Ramaphosa’s Phala-Phala farm fetched close to R21 million.
The farm made headlines after former spy boss Arthur Fraser claimed a burglary occurred there in 2020, in which about $4 million in cash (around R64 million at the current exchange rate) was stolen.
Ramaphosa’s brother-in-law Patrice Motsepe parted ways with R4,7m for four Ankole female cows. The most expensive of the lot cost him R2,1m.
The money was believed to be earned from the selling of game and cattle.
Mnangagwa, who has been in government since 1980, has been accused of looting government resources using his power.
Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said Mnangagwa’s source of wealth was from the resources he allegedly looted for the past 40 years.
“Mnangagwa has a history of plundering companies and has been making money for the past 40 years,” Ngwenya said.
A 2004 United Nations report named Mnangagwa as one of the many officials who looted diamonds and other precious minerals from Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Mnangagwa has also been linked to an underground illegal gold mining syndicate in the Midlands province, but he has denied the reports.
Recently, Al Jazeera’s investigation revealed multiple links between Mnangagwa and the gold smuggling and money laundering syndicates that are bleeding the country.
Mnangagwa has been accused of enriching his family members.

Government Attacks Business Operators
BUSINESS operators’ insincerity to hike prices of basic commodities has been exposed with revelations that many are harvesting from a facility that allocates a weekly average of US$20 million from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s foreign currency auction.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, 80 percent of the country’s supermarket shelves are currently being dominated by local products, a development which has been corroborated by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce and Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries manufacturing survey reports.
Zimbabwe is witnessing a price increase madness especially of basic commodities in the local currency despite the same accessing foreign currency at official rates thereby creating a paradox that needs urgent government intervention.
It is in this regard that economic analysts have questioned the sincerity of the business owners who are now taking the auction platform as an arbitrage source of the greenback.
“The Foreign Auction System was introduced for a noble reason and due to profiteering tendencies by our business community the good initiative is now being abused at the expense of the whole economy,” said development economist, Mr Paison Tazvivinga.
“The current price madness for goods and services being charged in the domestic currency has many causes and what is now needed is to have the Auction system streamlined or discontinued as manufacturers are just cashing in on this platform without the benefits cascading to the rest of the economy,” said economic analyst, Mr Kudakwashe Mugova.
The government is already seized with the irrational and unjust price increases being experienced by consumers and necessary measures are being instituted to redress the situation.- ZBC News

Seventy percent of national transactions are now being conducted in United States dollars, with the remaining 30 percent accounted for in Zimbabwe dollars. The opposite was true at the start of the Second Republic. All this shows more widespread availability of foreign exchange, something which ordinarily should work in favour of the local unit.
For manufacturers and retailers, over 80 percent of their domestic transactions now are United States-dollar denominated, with only 20 percent accounted for in the local unit. All this money is being allowed to remain with Business, as a deliberate Government Policy to support the sector. Meanwhile, we have not only allowed wages to remain stable; we have also kept them largely in the local unit, thus making Labour shoulder a disproportionate burden in the whole transition.
Concessions on forex retention
Let me remind our Business of a few facts, some echoed in almost all jurisdictions globally. At law and by worldwide practice, all foreign currency earnings should be surrendered to Government, through the Central Bank, as obtains worldwide. Worldwide, businesses access foreign exchange for their needs from Central Bank, through cumbersome processes and on the basis of market conditions.
Here, we have waived that position at law, and in general practice worldwide, hoping to prop our business sector, and for ease of doing business.
This act of magnanimity now looks undeserved.
A multi-currency jurisdiction
Second, we are a multicurrency market as a deliberate Government decision. This makes the business environment in our country peculiarly unique in a way most favourable to Business. Yet this is now being contradicted. Any business practices which suppress the use of any one currency recognised by our laws are both illegal and do undermine this unique and most favourable position which is found nowhere else in the world. The offence gets worse when these illegal practices seek to outlaw the use of the local currency unit, itself our National Currency and currency of wage earnings.
Temporary cushioning measures
Thirdly, there are measures we put in place to cushion Business against constraints imposed on it and on our society by the Covid-19 global pandemic. Needless to say, these were only meant to last for as long as the threat of the pandemic persisted. They do not translate into a new and permanent regime of claimable rights and concessions by whomsoever. Like all measures arising from exigencies, they are time-honoured. Yet today there seems to be an expectation that such situational measures are now a right to be demanded.
Paradox at the Auction Floor
Fourth and most exasperatingly, when 20 percent of our transactions were conducted in foreign currency, and 80 percent in local currency, the demand for foreign exchange at the auction averaged US$20 million weekly. Today, when we find ourselves in 80-20 percent reverse transaction equation in favour of foreign currency, the demand for foreign exchange at the same auction, and by the same Business now directly selling more wares in United States dollars, has risen to US$30 million a week! How does one explain such a paradox?
Rampant stashing, transfer pricing
Fifth and bordering on criminality and sabotage, bids for foreign exchange on the auction are not always translating into further retooling or more importation of raw material for expanded manufacturing activity. By and large, retooling is done, with raw material requirements fully known. Economic activity remains at current levels. Clearly, we are seeing proceeds from the auction finding their way into pockets of speculators; or worse, getting illicitly transferred beyond our borders for stashing; for supporting mother companies or simply as sequestered cash assets. We even have had cases of importers of wheat and edible crude oil using shelf companies domiciled in countries that grow neither wheat nor soya! Such shelf companies are conduits for transfer pricing, and thus for externalisation. All these are acts of downright criminality.
Informalising the goods market
Here at home, activities in the black market now go beyond currencies. They now include redirecting basic goods into the informal sector where big companies have created a web of agents who sell such goods exclusively in foreign currency! Not only is the consumer hard done by; Government is prejudiced in that taxes are evaded, ironically by the same businesses Government will have foster-cared, funded and grown through the auction system! Formal retail channels are no longer being used to reach the market, in favour of self-created agents who operate in the twilight zone of informality and downright tax evasion. Our multi-currency policy is also undermined as Zimbabwe dollar-earning workers are now being forced to buy basics priced exclusively in foreign currency.
Suppressing sales in local currency
We are even aware of certain businesses which deliberately disable point-of-sale gadgets in order to force the consumer to buy key goods in one currency, contrary to the law of the Land. Maybe the time has now come for Government to insist that such businesses who do such tricks should suspend trading until they are able to technically handle transactions in multi-currency, as is bade by our laws.
Trust betrayed
Let me say that we made all the above concessions in good faith, and in the belief that we have a responsible business sector whose sole purpose is to manufacture and sell goods and services in the marketplace. Yet it is becoming increasingly clear our trust is getting abused and even betrayed. We even wonder if at all we are dealing with Business anymore, or with politicians disguised as company executives, seeking a political upset. Privileges can be withdrawn; the same way they are granted. Equally, politicians seeking to engineer market failures for definite political outcomes will be dealt with as political opponents, and through rules appropriate to politics.
Determined to correct market failures
Above all, short-circuiting set rules and cutting corners in business attract very stiff sanction. Those who break our exchange control rules, or who money launder, will only have themselves to blame. No one in business should doubt my Government’s resolve to correct blatant market failures, and to counteract and foil sinister moves to destabilise our economy. Government’s responsibility is to protect the consumer, and to ensure stability in the market and inside the country. We will take all measures necessary to ensure there is stability, including painful ones should that ever become necessary.
Back-stabbing arrears clearance efforts
I am disappointed that while I am on a mission to explore ways to clear arrears and to resolve the national debt, certain elements in Business think it helpful and appropriate to disturb the macroeconomy. Is this not the time when both Business and Government must show greater unity in order to pacify, give comfort and confidence to our creditors? We all seek lasting solution to these challenges around arrears and the debt, surely? Both have held us back; their resolution will see us lurch forward on a sustainable economic trajectory. Except it takes responsible business players, imbued with a serious national outlook to see matters this way. Is that too much to ask? I hope not.

Khupe Implicated In Spate Of Robberies
An eight-member gang of suspected armed robbers has been arrested in Bulawayo, leading to the recovery of guns and other weapons.
The gang, allegedly led by a Plumtree-based businessman, Limukani Khuphe, stands accused of being involved in several robberies in Bulawayo using an assortment of weapons, including Khuphe’s licenced revolver, knives, machetes and knobkerries.
Police spokesperson for Bulawayo, Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the arrest of the gang saying apart from cash, the criminals also allegedly stole household goods and other valuables.
“These daring criminals led by businessman Limukani Ngipheke have been terrorising Bulawayo breaking into properties and taking cash and property,” said Inspector Ncube.
“However, as police with the help of the members of the public, we managed to arrest them. We are also saying Bulawayo is not a safe haven for criminals and we are happy that the public is helping us make arrests,” he went on.

Waison, a member of President Nelson Chamisa’s security team was shot dead in South Africa at the weekend.
CCC members have described Waison’s gruesome murder as devastating.

Yesterday, Kelvin Waison one of the dedicated CCC security officers was shot in the head and died on the spot in South Africa.
He was shot by unknown gunmen in Brixton, South Africa.
Kelvin is survived by his wife and three children.
He was born in 1983 and comes from Murehwa West.
Mr Asiti, CCC SA interim security secretary who spoke to Change Radio earlier today confirmed the death of Mr Waison.
CCC’s Ms Vimbai Mavheruse said, “We have lost a dedicated cadre. He died a painful death.”
She further encouraged all Citizens across the world to support Mr Waison with prayers, money and any other form of support.”

About Cholera
Cholera is a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting. The symptoms of cholera are:
large amounts of diarrhoea (which sometimes looks like rice water)
vomiting (which sometimes looks like rice water)
leg cramps
feeling weak.
Severe diarrhoea can cause dehydration, which can lead to weakness and even death if not treated rapidly. Symptoms and signs of dehydration are thirst, weakness or fatigue, sunken eyes and decreased skin elasticity.
Infants, young children, older people and people who are already sick are most at risk of getting severely ill if they get cholera. The most important things to reduce cholera deaths is for anyone with symptoms to drink oral rehydration solution as soon as they become ill, and to get to a health centre fast.
Not everyone who is infected with the bacteria gets ill. Approximately 20% of people who are infected with the bacteria get symptoms. Symptoms usually start between 12 hours and 5 days after being exposed. Of people with symptoms, usually 20–30% develop severe disease.
You can catch cholera by:
drinking contaminated water;
eating contaminated food (e.g., food that is raw, poorly cooked, or that becomes contaminated with poo (faeces) during preparation or storage);
contact with the poo (faeces), vomit or things that have been contaminated with the poo or vomit of someone who has cholera; and
unprotected contact with the body of someone who has died from cholera.

Miracle Boys Shine
For as long as many football fans can remember, Yadah have always been known as ‘that team which passes the ball beautifully.’
Whether possession-based football is a club philosophy or not, the fact is; Yadah coach Expense Chitukutu —just like his predecessor Genesis Mangombe, is a firm believer of the passing game.
While they have displayed distinctive football in the early stages of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, the Miracle Boys had not been grinding results.
But four points from a possible six in their last two games, seem to have painted a revival picture.
They forced a 1-1 draw with Triangle United at Gibbo on Matchday 9, before an impressive 1-0 win over over Herentals at the National Sports Stadium last week.
It was the victory over Herentals in particular —courtesy of Charles Moffat’s brilliant 71st minute volley —which ended their 5-game winless run.
The Miracle Boys —for the first time in a long time —attracted a decent crowd at the giant facility and their fans cheered from start to finish.
Club owner Prophet Walter Magaya, who is now working hand-in-glove with businessman Scott Sakupwanya to steer the team forward, was not present, but the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mabvuku was.
Sakupwanya, as well as some members of the Yadah executive, even addressed the players after the final whistle.

Sheasham Refuse To Play At Mandava
Once again, and probably not for the last time, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has been subjected to bad advertisement.
Football fans in Zvishavane were treated to free drama yesterday after one team showed up at Mandava Stadium, did all the pre-match routines, only for the other team to not show up.
Premiership debutants Sheasham were scheduled to host CAPS United at Mandava, after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) made a controversial decision to ban Bata Stadium —the home of the Gweru-based side, from hosting top-flight games.
Bata had been given the green light to host PSL matches by the ZIFA First Instance Body (FIB).
The local licensing body okayed Bata and listed areas which needed attention while the City of Progress continue to open its doors for Premiership football again.
In fact, the John Nyikadzino-coached side even hosted Highlanders at Bata on May 7, before the PSL overreacted to a picture which circulated on social media showing parts of the facility still under construction, and banned it.
Strangely, the PSL, which has no jurisdiction to either green-light or ban a stadium as far as top-flight football is concerned, overturned the decision of the FIB.
The PSL, unless the laws changed and have now been re-written in invisible ink, have no jurisdiction to override a decision made by the FIB.
The Farai Jere-led PSL executive then announced that Sheasham would host CAPS at Mandava —the stadium the Construction Boys were temporarily using as their home venue before the homologation of Bata.
To make matters worse, Acting ZIFA Chief Executive Officer Xolisani Gwesela, for reasons best known to him, wrote to Sheasham “urging” the Premiership newboys to host CAPS at Mandava “in the interest of football.”
For someone who is part of the FIB, Gwesela, with the respect to the veteran football admistrator, sounded like a broken record, particularly in the context of highlighting areas of Bata which needed to be addressed.
Why was Bata intially given the green light by the same FIB, whose member is now saying those areas require attention before the facility can be allowed to host league matches?
Sheasham requested the postponement of the clash citing financing incapacitation to host it at Mandava, but the PSL insisted the match would go, at the Zvishavane facility.
Naturally, CAPS, who had already travelled for the game, showed up at Mandava but there are more questions than answers to the debacle.
i) Who booked Mandava Stadium?
ii) Who opened the Mandava gates for CAPS United?
iii) Who hired Police details and paid for everything needed for the game, when the home team, which is responsible for that, did not do so?
iv) How do we explain the fact that Bata Stadium hosted Highlanders —arguably the most followed team in Zimbabwe, but was deemed not fit to welcome CAPS United days later?
v) When is the PSL staging another roadshow in Gweru, to tell football fans in the City of Progress, that the same facility they were being encouraged to throng ahead of the Highlanders game, is not fit to host league matches?

“The Foreign Auction System was introduced for a noble reason and due to profiteering tendencies by our business community the good initiative is now being abused at the expense of the whole economy,” said development economist, Mr Paison Tazvivinga.
“The current price madness for goods and services being charged in the domestic currency has many causes and what is now needed is to have the Auction system streamlined or discontinued as manufacturers are just cashing in on this platform without the benefits cascading to the rest of the economy,” said economic analyst, Mr Kudakwashe Mugova.

Zanu PF Mob Chases Minister From Party Meeting
By- Larry Mavhima, the Midlands Provincial Affairs minister was chased at the weekend by an angry Zanu PF mob protesting against alleged rigging of the ruling party’s primary elections in the Gokwe-Chireya constituency.
Mavhima, had told the crowd gathered at Chief Chireya’s homestead that President Emmerson Mnangagwa sent him to preach reconciliation after primary polls held in March heavily divided people in the area.
Daniel Mackenzie Ncubea Zanu PF politburo member, accompanied him.
The meeting was meant to cool tempers in the constituency after chaotic primary polls that saw Torerai Moyo being announced the winner despite losing to Jeremiah Ndukulani by 54 votes, according to the ward command centre results leaked to NewsDay.
The minister, who is also Zanu PF chairperson for Midlands, was not given a chance to address the crowd despite repeated pleas from Chief Chireya.
He was forced to leave in a huff.
Zanu PF supporters in the constituency accused Local Government minister July Moyo and former State Security minister Owen “Mudha” Ncube of working with the Central Intelligence Organisation-linked Forever Associates Zimbabwe to rig the internal party polls in favour of Moyo.
Moyo and Mudha did not attend the meeting where Mavima intended to ask for forgiveness from Zanu PF supporters while drumming up support for Moyo.
All hell broke loose the moment Chief Chireya introduced Moyo as parliamentary candidate.
“When you see him (Mavima), you see the President, when you talk to him, you talk to the President. So I am imploring you to respect and listen to him,” Chief Chireya said.
“We are all in Zanu PF and I know the committed that I invited are well-behaved. Booing each other happens, but at this party meeting, we came to hear what the minister has to say.
“I am the one who invited him to address you. He came here to see the chief, but I asked him to address my people. So why are you booing him before he finishes addressing you?”
However, the chief’s plea seemed to fuel party members’ anger.
After being forced to abandon his address to allow Chief Chireya to calm the crowd, Mavima said: “I have been sent by the President, I will not add or subtract anything. I thank you for finally agreeing to listen.”
But before he went further, the crowd heckled him and the boos got louder. The minister and his entourage immediately left the chief’s homestead.
Zanu PF has been struggling to assemble people for campaign meetings in the Midlands after the chaotic primary polls.
A fortnight ago, another Zanu PF candidate in Gokwe, Flora Buka, who walloped Justice Mayor Wadyajena in the primaries, addressed a paltry crowd of 17 people before ordering traditional leaders to bring their subjects for another meeting, which she said would be addressed by the party’s national commissar Mike Bimha.
In a bid to douse post-primaries fire, Zanu PF youth league secretary Tino Machakaire on Saturday pleaded with feuding party factions to unite ahead of the August polls.
The infighting, that has rocked the ruling party, saw Machakaire visiting Mashonaland West province.
Machakaire, while addressing a Zanu PF youth inter-district meeting in Zvimba South, preached peace and unity.
“Now that the primary elections are over, those that won and the ones who didn’t make it, it’s time to unite towards the goal to support President Mnangagwa in the upcoming harmonised elections for we are one people,” Machakaire said.
He was accompanied by his deputy John Paradza despite recent reports of bad blood between the two.
Zvimba South legislator Phillip Chiyangwa pleaded with party supporters to support Dexter Malinganisa who clobbered him in the primaries.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, and Central Committee member Mike Chimombe also attended the meeting.
Last week, Zanu PF deployed party secretary for security Lovemore Matuke to douse rising tensions across the country.
The recent ban on the use of social media platforms over allegations of fanning divisions has also torched a storm within the ruling Zanu PF party structures ahead of the harmonised elections.

Zanu PF Boss Mistakes Poison For Kachasu, Dies
By- A Senior Zanu PF official in Mashonaland Central Province has died after gulping a poisonous substance he mistook for alcohol.
Zanu PF Chimurenga district chairman in Mazowe, Eddie Chanetsa, died on Friday after he reportedly mistook poison for alcohol.
Online news quoted an unnamed official as saying Chanetsa died at Howard Mission Hospital where he had been rushed after consuming the poison. Said the official:
I can confirm a sad incident in our district where Chanetsa mistook animal chemical that he had sought from neighbours for alcohol.
He was drinking small illicit beers so he put the chemical in a bottle of beer and on his way home he drank the chemical thinking it was beer, he was rushed to Howard Hospital where he died upon admission.
Chanetsa was expected to be buried on Sunday, 21 May 2023.

Six (6) Die In Gokwe-Kwekwe Road Accident
By- The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the death of six people in a fatal road traffic accident Sunday at around 6 pm, at the 15-kilometre mark on Kwekwe-Gokwe Road.
A Nissan NP300 with three passengers collided with a Honda Fit vehicle with eight passengers. Six people died, including both drivers and two passengers on the spot. Two more passengers died at Kwekwe General Hospital. Five injured victims are at Kwekwe General Hospital, and two others are at Gweru General Hospital. In a statement seen by Pindula News, police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, urged motorists to be patient and follow all road rules and regulations. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kwekwe General Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem, and three victims have been identified. Reads the police statement:
FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AT 15 KM PEG ALONG KWEKWE – GOKWE ROAD
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which six (6) people were killed whilst seven (7) others were injured at the 15 kilometre peg along Kwekwe-Gokwe Road on 21st May 2023 at about 1800 hours.
A Nissan NP300 with three (03) passengers on board, which was travelling towards Kwekwe, was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit vehicle with eight (08) passengers on board, which was travelling in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, both drivers and two (02) passengers died on the spot whilst two (02) other passengers died on admission at Kwekwe General Hospital.
Three (3) victims were positively identified by their next of kin as:-Edward Mutimbu, a male adult aged 40 of Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, Headquarters, Tafadzwa Chokera, a male aged 24 of Zhombe Business Centre, Anna Muzeziwa a female adult aged 42 of Zhombe Mission Hospital.
The other three (3) victims are yet to be identified by their next of kin.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Kwekwe General Hospital Mortuary for post mortem whilst five (5) of the injured victims are admitted at Kwekwe General Hospital. The other two (02) victims are admitted at Gweru General Hospital.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to be patient on the roads and above all adhere to all road rules and regulations.
Overloading is a common problem with Mshika-shika, as operators often prioritise profits over safety concerns. “Mshika-shika” is a colloquial term used in Zimbabwe to refer to illegally operated commuter omnibuses and other small vehicles that transport passengers in urban areas.
Overloading can cause accidents and injuries, especially when these vehicles are involved in collisions or other accidents. Mshika-shika overloading has been a major cause of road accidents in Zimbabwe, leading to loss of lives and property damage. Despite efforts by the government to regulate these vehicles, overloading remains a persistent problem.
Yadah In Superb Form
For as long as many football fans can remember, Yadah have always been known as ‘that team which passes the ball beautifully.’
Whether possession-based football is a club philosophy or not, the fact is; Yadah coach Expense Chitukutu —just like his predecessor Genesis Mangombe, is a firm believer of the passing game.
While they have displayed distinctive football in the early stages of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, the Miracle Boys had not been grinding results.
But four points from a possible six in their last two games, seem to have painted a revival picture.
They forced a 1-1 draw with Triangle United at Gibbo on Matchday 9, before an impressive 1-0 win over over Herentals at the National Sports Stadium last week.
It was the victory over Herentals in particular —courtesy of Charles Moffat’s brilliant 71st minute volley —which ended their 5-game winless run.
The Miracle Boys —for the first time in a long time —attracted a decent crowd at the giant facility and their fans cheered from start to finish.
Club owner Prophet Walter Magaya, who is now working hand-in-glove with businessman Scott Sakupwanya to steer the team forward, was not present, but the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mabvuku was.
Sakupwanya, as well as some members of the Yadah executive, even addressed the players after the final whistle.

Sheasham Boycott Clash With Caps United
Once again, and probably not for the last time, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has been subjected to bad advertisement.
Football fans in Zvishavane were treated to free drama yesterday after one team showed up at Mandava Stadium, did all the pre-match routines, only for the other team to not show up.
Premiership debutants Sheasham were scheduled to host CAPS United at Mandava, after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) made a controversial decision to ban Bata Stadium —the home of the Gweru-based side, from hosting top-flight games.
Bata had been given the green light to host PSL matches by the ZIFA First Instance Body (FIB).
The local licensing body okayed Bata and listed areas which needed attention while the City of Progress continue to open its doors for Premiership football again.
In fact, the John Nyikadzino-coached side even hosted Highlanders at Bata on May 7, before the PSL overreacted to a picture which circulated on social media showing parts of the facility still under construction, and banned it.
Strangely, the PSL, which has no jurisdiction to either green-light or ban a stadium as far as top-flight football is concerned, overturned the decision of the FIB.
The PSL, unless the laws changed and have now been re-written in invisible ink, have no jurisdiction to override a decision made by the FIB.
The Farai Jere-led PSL executive then announced that Sheasham would host CAPS at Mandava —the stadium the Construction Boys were temporarily using as their home venue before the homologation of Bata.
To make matters worse, Acting ZIFA Chief Executive Officer Xolisani Gwesela, for reasons best known to him, wrote to Sheasham “urging” the Premiership newboys to host CAPS at Mandava “in the interest of football.”
For someone who is part of the FIB, Gwesela, with the respect to the veteran football admistrator, sounded like a broken record, particularly in the context of highlighting areas of Bata which needed to be addressed.
Why was Bata intially given the green light by the same FIB, whose member is now saying those areas require attention before the facility can be allowed to host league matches?
Sheasham requested the postponement of the clash citing financing incapacitation to host it at Mandava, but the PSL insisted the match would go, at the Zvishavane facility.
Naturally, CAPS, who had already travelled for the game, showed up at Mandava but there are more questions than answers to the debacle.
i) Who booked Mandava Stadium?
ii) Who opened the Mandava gates for CAPS United?
iii) Who hired Police details and paid for everything needed for the game, when the home team, which is responsible for that, did not do so?
iv) How do we explain the fact that Bata Stadium hosted Highlanders —arguably the most followed team in Zimbabwe, but was deemed not fit to welcome CAPS United days later?
v) When is the PSL staging another roadshow in Gweru, to tell football fans in the City of Progress, that the same facility they were being encouraged to throng ahead of the Highlanders game, is not fit to host league matches?

Despite dominating English football for the best part of a decade, Manchester City have so far failed to land their owner’s most prized trophy – the Champions League. The closest the club has come was when they were beaten finalists in 2021, losing 1-0 to Chelsea.
However, City’s complete annihilation of Spanish giants Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final this season came with a distinct feeling that it was far more than just an impressive performance. From the first minute to the last, City were both ruthless and faultless. It felt like an era-defining night.
On The Verge of Greatness
Now, just one game against Inter Milan stands between the Manchester team and their ultimate prize. In addition, the way they dismantled the competition’s winning-most team has led to Manchester City being named as firm favourites with many betting sites via www.bettors.co.ke, including 888 Bet, who have Man City at odds of 21/50 to win by full time, at the time of writing.

Man City’s Relentless Edge
Sure, Real Madrid were poor in the semi-final second leg. The way Man City came out of the blocks with a high-intensity possession game was too much for Madrid, and for all the collective experience within the camp, Madrid was never able to recover and get a foothold in the game.
City takes the credit for this. They were relentless – never taking their foot off the gas. On that performance, they would have beaten any team, from anywhere in the world and any era. While Inter Milan has finished the season well, including dismantling city neighbours AC Milan in the other Champions League semi-final, their record this season leaves a lot to be desired.
The official site of Serie A, https://www.legaseriea.it/en, shows Inter’s defeats this year run into double figures, and they were nowhere near Napoli, who wrapped up the title with a month left of the season. Their Champions League campaign doesn’t offer too much hope either. They lost twice to Bayern Munich in the group stages, finishing 8 points behind the Germans.
Since then, their route to the final has seen them overcome Porto, Benfica and AC Milan. It’s an old cliché that you can only beat the team in front of you. But going into the final in Istanbul, Inter have only played one team that could have been seriously considered one of the favourites at the start of the season – and they lost both games without scoring a goal.
In Acerbi, Bastoni and Darmian, the Italians have defenders of undoubted quality. But so did Real Madrid. The movement, vision and crisp passing of Manchester City, though, was too much for Madrid. And if they repeat that performance, we could see the most one-sided Champions League final ever, and the crowning of new champions of Europe who will be long to reign over us.
What Is Cholera ?
Cholera is a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting. The symptoms of cholera are:
large amounts of diarrhoea (which sometimes looks like rice water)
vomiting (which sometimes looks like rice water)
leg cramps
feeling weak.
Severe diarrhoea can cause dehydration, which can lead to weakness and even death if not treated rapidly. Symptoms and signs of dehydration are thirst, weakness or fatigue, sunken eyes and decreased skin elasticity.
Infants, young children, older people and people who are already sick are most at risk of getting severely ill if they get cholera. The most important things to reduce cholera deaths is for anyone with symptoms to drink oral rehydration solution as soon as they become ill, and to get to a health centre fast.
Not everyone who is infected with the bacteria gets ill. Approximately 20% of people who are infected with the bacteria get symptoms. Symptoms usually start between 12 hours and 5 days after being exposed. Of people with symptoms, usually 20–30% develop severe disease.
You can catch cholera by:
drinking contaminated water;
eating contaminated food (e.g., food that is raw, poorly cooked, or that becomes contaminated with poo (faeces) during preparation or storage);
contact with the poo (faeces), vomit or things that have been contaminated with the poo or vomit of someone who has cholera; and
unprotected contact with the body of someone who has died from cholera.
