Zim Players Abroad Update

Marvelous Nakamba was involved in his final game for Luton Town on Saturday before his loan deal expires in June.

The midfielder took part in the Championship play-off final against Coventry City at Wembley Stadium in London.

He played the entire match and converted a kick in the penalty shootout to help Luton win the match and earn promotion to the English Premier League.

Teammate and fellow countryman Admiral Muskwe didn’t play in the game due to an injury.

Bournemouth’s Jordan Zemura was not able to properly bid his farewell to the club at the Cherries’ final game of the season against Everton on Sunday.

The defender was last included in the squad in late March after failing to respond to the offer of a new deal.

The decision to be excluded from the team was made by the club’s hierarchy.

The Warriors international will join Serie A club Udinese ahead of the next season.

Marshall Munetsi was given the armband in the absence of Yunis Abdelhamid and captained the Stade de Reims side that lost 3-0 to Lyon in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday night.

The Zimbabwean midfielder capped his weekend with the Citizen Player Trophy at the 2022/23 French National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) awards.

Munetsi was presented with the gong in recognition for his commitment to his charity initiatives in Zimbabwe through his foundation.

In China, Nyasha Mushekwi scored in his third successive game for Zhejiang.

The Zimbabwean striker also assisted the team’s opening goal in the 3-2 win against Beijing Guoan.

He now has five goals in ten games.

Knowledge Musona was on target for his Al Taai side versus Al Wehda in the Saudi Pro League.

However, the skipper’s 11th minute goal was not enough to avoid a 2-1 loss for his team.

Terrence Dzvukamanja was also on the score-sheet over the weekend after netting the winning goal to help Orlando Pirates to a 2-1 victory in the Nedbank Cup final against Sekhukhune United.

Real Mallorca forward Tinotenda Kadewere was an unused substitute in the 3-0 La Liga loss to Barcelona.- Soccer24 News

DeMbare Sing The Blues

Struggling Harare giants Dynamos’ woes continue, after they surrendered a first half lead to eventually lose 1-2 to Ngezi Platinum Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at the Baobab Stadium today.

Herbert Maruwa’s charges headed into the clash on the back of a four-game winless run, which saw them fail to score in over six hours of football.

DeMbare nearly took the lead in the third minute when Nyasha Chintuli went past his marker on the right flank and released Authur Musiyiwa, whose weak shot at goal was easily collected by Nelson Chadya —in goal for Ngezi.

Nigel Mukumbe nearly fired Ngezi ahead a minute later, when his curling effort was well-saved by Dynamos goalkeeper Taimon Mvula.

Makumbe tried his luck from outside the box in the 19th minute but skied his effort way over the crossbar.

Dynamos were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box five minutes after, when Gareth Madhake fouled Tendai Matindife and Issa Sadiki curled in a beautiful delivery in the box, which was missed by Donald Mudadi at full stretch.

Dynamos attempted to break on the counter in the 35th minute, when Chintuli released Matindife, who went down in the box but was booked by the referee for similation.

DeMbare finally broke the deadlock a minute before the half time break when Donald Mudadi’s well-taken strike found the top corner, for Dynamos’ first goal at the Baobab since 2017.

Chadya almost gifted Dynamos the second goal when he intially failed to collect Elvis Moyo’s corner kick but recovered well to avert danger.

Mudadi’s goal was the difference between the two sides at the half time interval.

Madamburo came back for the second half determined to level matters and did so four minutes after the restart when Takunda Benhura headed home Polite Moyo’s corner kick.

Benhura almost turned it around for Ngezi in the 53rd minute but his snap shot missed the target by inches.

Dynamos made a double substitution in the 56th minute when Denver Mukamba and Junior Makunike came in for Matindife and Musiyiwa.

Madamburo were smelling blood and almost took the lead in the 58th minute, when Valentine Kadonzvo beat two defenders in the box, unleashed a scorcher, which crashed against the underside of the crossbar.

Takesure Chiragwi made a double substitution in the 70th minute when he brought on Qadr Amin and Claude Mapoka for Murasiranwa and Walter Vuwa.

The change paid dividends, as Amin completed the turnaround for Ngezi in the 75th minute when his cross somehow beat a badly-positioned Taimon Mvula.

Mvula, who was having bad day in goal, fumbled a corner kick from Amin with six minutes of regulation time left, but recovered well to collect before Kadonzvo pounced.

Dynamos almost restored parity in the 85th minute when Ilunga found Mukamba in the box, and the latter’s shot was tipped over the bar by Chadya.

Madamburo held on and returned to winning ways after last week’s defeat to Chicken Inn.
Dynamos suffered a title race blow following a 1-0 loss to Ngezi Platinum Stars in Sunday’s Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 28 encounter played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare. The result put the Glamour Boys eleven points behind log leaders FC Platinum, with just six rounds to play in…Soccer24 News

ZEC Deletes CCC Members From Voters Roll

By Farai D Hove | The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has deleted names of suspected CCC (Citizens Coalition For Change) members from the voters’ roll, updated complaints indicate.

The development is revealed in a report ZEC is still to comment on filed by the CCC.

The latest twist comes as the commission’s chairperson Priscilla Chigumba told journalists that she has no desire to suit her department to people’s expectations due to what she termed legislative constraints.

The CCC report states in part:

The above subject matter refers; As the Citizens Coalition for Change. we have noted serious anotnalies in the voters roll that has been laid out for inspection by the public. A reflective sample across all the ten (101 Provinces in the country have indicated numerous errors of commission and omission which indicate deviations from the Constitutional standards of a credible voters’ roll.

The main issues arising front the preliminary reports received include the following:
1. Missing names of prospective voters some of which had voted in 2018 and some as recent as Me Marsh 2022 by elections. for example, Ward 25 in Gokwe Nembudssyn Constituency —all surnames shining from A.Mo are missing Irian the Ward Voters…

2. Registered voters that had bem appearing on the BVR online inspection platform are suddenly missing their names from the current online platforms and the voters roll under inspection.

3. The voters roll under inspection seems not to be synchronized with the new delimitation boundaries. Resultantly, prospective voters have been displaced from their wards of residence.

What Is Asthma?

Key facts

Asthma is a major noncommunicable disease (NCD), affecting both children and adults, and is the most common chronic disease among children.

Inflammation and narrowing of the small airways in the lungs cause asthma symptoms, which can be any combination of cough, wheeze, shortness of breath and chest tightness.
Asthma affected an estimated 262 million people in 2019 (1) and caused 455 000 deaths.

Inhaled medication can control asthma symptoms and allow people with asthma to lead a normal, active life.
Avoiding asthma triggers can also help to reduce asthma symptoms.
Most asthma-related deaths occur in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where under-diagnosis and under-treatment is a challenge.

WHO is committed to improving the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of asthma to reduce the global burden of NCDs and make progress towards universal health coverage.

Overview
Asthma is a chronic lung disease affecting people of all ages. It is caused by inflammation and muscle tightening around the airways, which makes it harder to breathe.

Symptoms can include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. These symptoms can be mild or severe and can come and go over time.

Although asthma can be a serious condition, it can be managed with the right treatment. People with symptoms of asthma should speak to a health professional.

Impact
Asthma is often under-diagnosed and under-treated, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

People with under-treated asthma can suffer sleep disturbance, tiredness during the day, and poor concentration. Asthma sufferers and their families may miss school and work, with financial impact on the family and wider community. If symptoms are severe, people with asthma may need to receive emergency health care and they may be admitted to hospital for treatment and monitoring. In the most severe cases, asthma can lead to death.

Symptoms
Symptoms of asthma can vary from person to person. Symptoms sometimes get significantly worse. This is known as an asthma attack. Symptoms are often worse at night or during exercise.

Common symptoms of asthma include:

a persistent cough, especially at night
wheezing when exhaling and sometimes when inhaling
shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sometimes even when resting
chest tightness, making it difficult to breathe deeply.

Some people will have worse symptoms when they have a cold or during changes in the weather. Other triggers can include dust, smoke, fumes, grass and tree pollen, animal fur and feathers, strong soaps and perfume.

Symptoms can be caused by other conditions as well. People with symptoms should talk to a healthcare provider.

Causes
Many factors have been linked to an increased risk of developing asthma, although it is often difficult to find a single, direct cause.

Asthma is more likely if other family members also have asthma – particularly a close relative, such as a parent or sibling.
Asthma is more likely in people who have other allergic conditions, such as eczema and rhinitis (hay fever).

Urbanization is associated with increased asthma prevalence, probably due to multiple lifestyle factors.

Events in early life affect the developing lungs and can increase the risk of asthma. These include low birth weight, prematurity, exposure to tobacco smoke and other sources of air pollution, as well as viral respiratory infections.
Exposure to a range of environmental allergens and irritants are also thought to increase the risk of asthma, including indoor and outdoor air pollution, house dust mites, moulds, and occupational exposure to chemicals, fumes or dust.
Children and adults who are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of asthma.
Treatment
Asthma cannot be cured but there are several treatments available. The most common treatment is to use an inhaler, which delivers medication directly to the lungs.

Inhalers can help control the disease and enable people with asthma to enjoy a normal, active life.

There are two main types of inhaler:

bronchodilators (such as salbutamol), that open the air passages and relieve symptoms; and
steroids (such as beclometasone) that reduce inflammation in the air passages, which improves asthma symptoms and reduces the risk of severe asthma attacks and death.
People with asthma may need to use their inhaler every day. Their treatment will depend on the frequency of symptoms and the types of inhalers available.

Using an inhaler can be difficult, especially for children and during emergency situations. Using a spacer device makes it easier to use an aerosol inhaler. This helps the medicine to reach the lungs more easily. A spacer is a plastic container with a mouthpiece or mask at one end and a hole for the inhaler in the other. A homemade spacer, made from a 500ml plastic bottle, can be as effective as commercially manufactured spacers.

Access to inhalers is a problem in many countries. In 2021, bronchodilators were available in public primary health care facilities in half of low- and low-middle income countries, and steroid inhalers available in one third.

It is also important to raise community awareness to reduce the myths and stigma associated with asthma in some settings.

Self-care
People with asthma and their families need education to understand more about their asthma. This includes their treatment options, triggers to avoid, and how to manage their symptoms at home.

It is important for people with asthma to know how to increase their treatment when their symptoms are worsening to avoid a serious attack. Healthcare providers may give an asthma action plan to help people with asthma to take greater control of their treatment.

QOKI FRAUD: Sithule Tshuma Sells Off Govt’s 99-Year-Leased Nondwene Farm

By A Correspondent | Contrary to denials, another farm sold off by UK based businesswoman Sithule Tshuma under the guise of empowering diasporan women is a confirmed government gazetted 99-year leased land property.

The then minister of State for State Security, Lands And Land Reform, Didymus Mutasa Monday morning confirmed to ZimEye that Tshuma’s Qoki Investment business has been misleading investors by selling farmland under the promise that they have hopes in later privatising the farm land, as he added to president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s announcement that “it is unlawful in Zimbabwe to buy agricultural land…”

A govt gazetted dated 2 June 2006 (pictured) designates Deeds Of Transfer 1096/89, Lot 2 A Lower Nondwene, measuring 204,381 4 hectares, state land.

Asked on possible changes that could have later happened to the farm’s status, he replied saying,

“I am not sure, but once a ruling has been made, it stays for a long time.”

He commented further stressing:

“It is now state land, whether the person who gazetted it is still minister or not, it’s gazetted, and it is state land.”

He further clarified saying farmlands are technically state land.

“I can’t own a farm whether it was given by govt or I bought it, it is now titled (State land).”

The comments come at a time when Sithule Tshuma has been claiming that she did not purchase any state land for the female investors.

The development also comes at a time when the Legal Architect of the Qoki Investment Program, Julian Condliffe faces a Birmingham court GBP56,000 lawsuit on Wednesday set to also result in Qoki Directors being prosecuted in England.

Contacted for a comment m, Sithule Tshuma refused to speak saying she is being bullied by journalists.

In other features, ZimEye reveals that Qoki is run a UK syndicate that have taken advantage of the diasporan homeseekers.

Practical Lessons In Mining

X factors of mining “

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .

Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team .
Debt .

Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

FAZ Takes Control Of Voter Inspection Exercise

ZANU PF affiliate, Forever Associates Zimbabwe (Faz) has reportedly hijacked the voters roll inspection exercise by demanding proof of ruling party membership from those trying to check for their names.

Faz is a registered private voluntary organisation which claims to champion “door-to-door intimate voter contact” but reports suggest that it has a close working relationship with members of the central intelligence organisation (CIO).

On its website, Faz says its application to become an associate of Zanu PF was still pending, but the ruling party’s political commissar Mike Bimha told NewsDay yesterday that the group was an affiliate.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) opened its voters roll inspection exercise on Saturday and Faz members were manning several polling stations, mostly in the rural areas which resulted in some voters failing to check for their names.

Inspections were suspended at some centres in Shurugwi after the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) protested the presence of Faz members at the polling stations.

At Sungano Motel polling station in Ward 12, Shurugwi North Constituency, police had to be called to intervene after FAZ members refused to vacate the polling stations.

“We discovered at various centres during our assessment of the inspection exercise that Faz members were giving some orders to the registered voters who had pitched up for inspection,” CCC Shurugwi North Constituency aspiring candidate Bulle Madzitire said.

“They were making inquiries on whether the registered voter was in the Zanu PF cell register or not. Those who knew that they were not in the Zanu PF register left the poling centres before inspecting their names. We reported the matter to the police, who later ordered the Faz members to leave the polling stations. This was the situation at many polling stations in the area.”

“I am not aware of the incident,” Silaigwana said.

“But I guess the police are handling the case if they were notified.”

Bimha also said he was not aware of what Faz was doing.

“I cannot speak on behalf of Faz,” Bimha said.

“They are a Zanu PF affiliate but they have their own leadership.”

However, a Zanu PF internal memo seen by NewsDay shows that the ruling party ordered its grassroots structures to ensure that every member who appeared in the party cell registers was in the voters roll during the inspection exercise.

Faz and Heritage Trust, another Zanu PF-affiliated non-governmental organisation, were roped in as “constituency specialists” to facilitate the inspection.

In a letter dated May 19, 2023 copied to Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi, chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, Bimha directed party provincial chairpersons to ensure that all party members who appeared in cell registers, were registered as voters with the help of Faz and Heritage Trust.

Faz and Heritage Trust, which is reportedly linked to the CIO and Military Intelligence Corps, ran the party’s recent primary elections.

“It is very critical that data capture is done diligently for this programme. Constituency experts Faz and the Heritage Trust Constituency co-ordinators will monitor and capture data at each polling station as well as submit daily reports to the command centres,” Bimha wrote in the memo.

The voters roll inspection exercise failed to take off in some areas on Saturday as scheduled after Zec could not avail transport for the exercise.

David Coltart’s Name Disappears From Voters Roll

Former Education minister David Coltart and his wife’s names have disappeared from the voters roll in a move that is likely to put the credibility of the whole 2023 electoral process into doubt.

Posting on Twitter, Coltart who was just coming from a voters roll inspection centre said his name, his wife and youngest daughter were all missing, adding that he has always been voting at the same centre for decades.

“I have just been to the @ZECzim inspection tent at Burnside Garage to check if my name is on the voters roll. It isn’t! I have lived in my current home since 1986 & have been registered at Burnside for decades. I am a citizen & former Cabinet Minister. How can this be?

“My wife and youngest daughter’s names do not appear either. If we have been moved to another polling station we haven’t been advised. But I doubt that is the case because my checks on the national roll through *265# have been unsuccessful. How can we all have been removed?

“Whilst at the inspection center the presiding officer told me that numerous other people can’t find their names. Only 445 are on the Burnside roll – against what should be a figure of 1000. So hundreds have been removed at this polling station.

“The whole process is shambolic and shameful. @ZECzim is exposed as an incompetent, brazenly partisan body. There can be no free, fair or lawful election with this nonsense,” said Coltart.

Chamisa Rallies Citizens to Inspect Their Names On The Voters Roll

By A Correspondent| Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa has rallied citizens to inspect their names on the voters roll.

Posting on Twitter, Chamisa said inspecting names on the voters roll is an important process that helps to ensure that the voters roll is not tempered with.

“FELLOW CITIZENS, Voter inspection is the last stage before voting. It is very important to ensure that your name is on the voters’ list. We will not allow any tampering with the voters’ roll. Have you checked if your name is appearing on the voters’ roll? #ThisTime It’s time,” said Chamisa.

Meanwhile, Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to announce the date for the general elections today in a move that will set the election season in motion.

City Tipped To Win UEFA Cup

The Champions League final is set, and it has the feeling of a David vs. Goliath matchup as Premier League powerhouse Manchester City face off against Italian side Inter Milan in Europe’s title bout.

Man City completely smothered defending champions Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal, putting forth an absolutely breathless performance to overwhelm the most successful club in the history of the European competition.

Inter, meanwhile, are not considered to be of the same calibre, but are hitting their stride at the right time, rising above cross-town rivals AC Milan in their semifinal to reach this stage.

The Italians will know they’re matched up against the cream of the European crop, sitting third in the Serie A table, not even having yet secured Champions League play next season. There’s a foreboding sense about this match that they will need to produce a masterclass to emerge victorious.

Manchester City are coming off one of the most dominant performances you will ever see in a high-profile match of late-season Champions League caliber.

What Pep Guardiola engineered at the Etihad Stadium on May 17, a humbling of the defending champions, will be remembered for years.

Nobody in the world is in better form than this Premier League outfit, and while Inter have crafted some impressively gritty results in European competition this season, there’s nobody in the world who can match this City side at their best.

This, of course, assumes that City bring their best to Istanbul, where the atmosphere won’t be as favourable as it was in England on Wednesday. Inter, meanwhile, are admittedly in good form too, finally figuring out their inconsistencies domestically as the season comes to a close. Yet it’s quite simply impossible to bet against this Man City juggernaut.

Man City vs Inter Milan betting odds for Champions League final
With the Champions League final participants now set, the odds are helpful to see how both the oddsmakers and betting market see this match playing out.

Man City opened as massive favorites, given -250 odds to win the match outright in regulation and -650 to emerge victorious and lift the trophy. This is likely due to the manner in which City not only obliterated Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal, but their domestic form as well, en route to a likely Premier League title.

Inter, meanwhile, emerged out of the gates massive underdogs, slotted at +675 to win across 90 minutes and +375 to be named champions.

Why Man City will win Champions League title in 2023

Incredible squad depth has led to exceptional health
One of the most impressive parts of Man City’s exceptional season has been their overall health. Hardly any key players have struggled with injury this season, and Pep Guardiola’s side is at full strength as the end of the campaign nears, with the exception of defender Nathan Ake, who is recovering from a minor problem.

Rodri has hardly seen a rest this season, playing over 4,000 minutes across all competitions, but the rest of the Man City squad has been given the occasional breather, and the team hasn’t lost a step thanks to its exceptional depth. Guardiola has been able to deploy his preferred starting lineup whenever needed, and yet he can trust those in rotation when there’s room to do so.

The likes of Julian Alvarez and Aymeric Laporte have earned over 2,300 and 1,700 minutes respectively, and even Rico Lewis has played over 1,000 minutes this season. Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish have all rotated on the wing, and they have all delivered in moments and stretches.

With a powerful squad like Man City able to call upon every single starter at this stage in the season, it will be next to impossible to dethrone the favourites.

Erling Haaland the difference maker against Inter defenders

Erling Haaland was brought to Manchester City to win the Champions League. That much he’s already admitted publicly, and so he will be on task in the UCL final.

While the trio of Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, and Matteo Darmian did well to keep Olivier Giroud off the scoresheet for two legs in the semifinal, they don’t exactly strike fear in the hearts of world-class forwards like Haaland.

The Norwegian failed to find the back of the net against Real Madrid only thanks to Thibaut Courtois’ brilliance, and while Mike Maignan is a top goalkeeper, he will need a man-of-the-match performance just to keep the Man City striker out. That opens things up for the rest of the City goal scorers, of which they have many.

Haaland is eating defenders for lunch in European competition, winning 60 percent of his aerial duels in Champions League play this season. Both Acerbi and Bastoni are proficient in that department, but Haaland has so many ways of beating opponents, it’s hard to see them keeping up.

What Manchester City produced against Real Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal was utterly breathtaking. The City midfield was unbeatable, and their precise pressing kept Real Madrid totally unable to even get a dangerous touch on the ball let alone build forward with any kind of attacking presence.

Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Rodri, and Ilkay Gundogan choked Real Madrid completely out of the match, from the opening whistle to the jubilant celebration at the end. Through 15 minutes, Madrid had just 14 total passes, and four Madrid players had yet to complete a single one.

Meanwhile, City used patience and precision to unlock the Madrid back line. Haaland forced two world-class saves out of Courtois before Silva’s double put City in front for good.

The Inter midfield is the strength of their side, but Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitarayan won’t be able to breathe if City reproduce this performance. Oh, and if Inter decide to push the ball out wide, they’ll have to deal with Kyle Walker, who just blanketed Vinicius Jr for 180 minutes. – Sporting News

Mnangagwa Shamelessly Inspects Voters Roll On Camera

By Lesley Hova | Emmerson Mnangagwa, one of theb 2024l3 presidential candidates, yesterday shamelessly called on Zimbabweans to visit and verify the voters’ roll to make sure their data are accurately recorded. At the moment, the voters’ roll copy had been withheld from the public.

Emmerson Mnangagwa “inspecting voters roll” pic-Agencies

Prior to his anticipated announcement of the election date today, the President made this statement yesterday after verifying his information with his wife, Auxillia Mnangagwa, at Sherwood Primary School in Kwekwe.

“As the 2023 harmonised general elections draw closer, I call upon all voters to inspect the voters roll to ensure that their details are correctly captured,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

The state media claims that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on Saturday finally opened the voters’ roll to be used in this year’s harmonised elections for inspection in an exercise that is expected to run until May 31.

Inspections will be carried out at all the 1,159 polling stations, while prospective voters can also check their names using the USSD code *265# if they are Econet or NetOne subscribers and also on the ZEC’s website (www.bvrinspection.zec.org.zw), the announcement said.

On Saturday, ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana said the exercise could be extended in some centres.

“Owing to logistical and other unforeseen challenges, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission would like to inform members of the public that some voters’ roll inspection centres may start operating much later than the anticipated time on 27 May 2023. The Commission may consider extending this exercise scheduled to end on 31 May 2023 by a day in affected areas,” he said.

The centres will open between 7 am and 7 pm and people are required to bring a National Identity Card (metal, plastic or waiting pass with the holder’s picture) or a valid Zimbabwean passport.

“The cut-off date for the purposes of producing the voters’ roll for this inspection exercise was 28 April 2023. Those who registered on or before 28 April 2023, are encouraged to inspect the voters roll at their ordinary polling stations which have been designated as inspection centres for purposes of this voters roll inspection exercise. Note, your name will appear only at that inspection centre if that centre is your designated polling station,” Mr Silaigwana said.

He added that anyone with queries should direct them to their respective provincial elections officers or the ZEC’s head office in Harare.

Preparations for the elections are gathering steam with President Mnangagwa on Saturday saying he would today announce the date when they will be held.

ZEC deputy chair Ambassador Rodney Kiwa said voter registration would continue until two days after the proclamation of the poll dates as stipulated.

“Our cut-off date for the purposes of this inspection was on the 28th of April so what it means is the registration continues but not at the inspection centres but will continue at our 68 districts as well as the 10 provincial centres.

“Registration will continue until two days after the proclamation of the election date by the President,” he said.

Ambassador Kiwa said the electoral body was gearing for the successful holding of free, fair and transparent elections.

To this effect, he said, the commission had come up with a roadmap that would be followed once President Mnangagwa proclaims the election date.

“We are very much ready and getting prepared and some of the activities that we are undertaking, for instance, are the procurement of sensitive and non-sensitive materials including pens, indelible ink and so forth as well as ballot papers, we are all geared for that.

“Not only that, we are also training our people, electoral officers so that they are prepared and they know exactly what is expected of them when the President announces the date,” Ambassador Kiwa said.

“In that regard, we have a road map and once the President announces the date we are going to follow and it includes publicity whereby we will be engaging the media through whom we will be informing our public through radio, television, fliers and anything that will help us to reach our people so that they participate in the harmonised elections.”

We’ll Fix Up Zim Dollar Value- Mthuli

By A Correspondent | The local currency will continue to be used, and deliberate measures are being done to raise its value in order to restore consumer purchasing power and support the economic recovery’s momentum, according to Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube.
The government has stated that it will not budge from its policy to mainstream the use of the local currency because it has had a favourable effect on the broader economy, despite the most recent wave of speculative parallel market-induced inflationary dynamics and lopsided preference for foreign currency transactions.

According to Professor Mthuli Ncube, extra steps are being made to safeguard and preserve the Zimbabwean currency by getting rid of economic saboteurs.

His remarks come at a time when the local currency has been quickly falling in value against the US dollar, causing considerable consumer outrage and leading to the exclusive demand for payment in foreign currency by many company owners and service providers.

Some retail businesses have set their exchange rates at the unbelievable amount of $1 US, or $5 500, which is far more than the official rate of $1 888.

In an effort to collect foreign currency, a number of businesses, including well-known fast-food restaurants, have unplugged their electronic payment systems.

The inflated rates have also been a result of illegal forex traders employing POS devices for transactions involving big sums of money.

The local currency has aided in increasing economic productivity and the resurgence of some industries, according to Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube, who was speaking to journalists after his Saturday tour of retail establishments and interactions with the general public in Bulawayo.

“The Zimbabwe dollar is our lawful currency, our domestic currency, it is here to stay. It is what has given all these companies the competitiveness. That is why we have 80 percent of the goods being locally produced. This was not the case when the US dollar was the only currency that was circulating,” said Prof Ncube.

“Now we have this currency which has led to a kind of boom in the domestic economy and improved competitiveness and this is all due to the presence of the Zimbabwean dollar. We need it, we need to preserve it and protect it as Government. If we stop using the local currency, it will lead to some companies closing down. Some companies were able to reopen and invest because we introduced the Zim dollar.”

He said the new measures are expected to slow down the skyrocketing prices.

“Surely we will be announcing measures which I cannot mention at the moment this coming week to ensure that we strengthen the domestic currency and reduce the negative impacts that are eroding value for our currency,” said Prof Ncube.

“On 24 May 2025, the FIU froze the bank accounts of four major distributors, namely Saxin Trading, Simrac Enterprises, Brainscope Investments and Munella Enterprises, that have been diverting basic commodities to the informal market while refusing to supply same to established retailers who pay for and sell goods in local currency,” reads the statement.

“The FIU noted that these errant distributors transact almost exclusively in foreign currency cash yet they do not bank the cash as required under the Bank Use Promotion Act. The entities are being penalised and will further be referred to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority for suspected tax evasion.”

It said it has also increased surveillance operations, identifying and taking punitive action against traders engaged in exchange rate manipulation and all other illegal practices.

“Members of the public are urged to report any illegal business practices as described above, to the FIU WhatsApp hotline numbers: 0780 434 475 and 0719 207 310,” it said.- State Media

Nakamba Shines

Marvelous Nakamba led his English club Luton Town to the English Premier League after beating Coventry City 6-5 on penalties in the play off final at Wembley.

The Warriors defensive midfielder played a starring role in the middle of the park and successfully converted his spot kick with Luton Town winning in sudden death penalty shoot out for a return to the top flight after more than 30 years in lower leagues.

Luton Town last played in the top flight in 1992 when they were relegated from the then English First Division that became the Premier League the following season in 1993.

While it was joy for Nakamba who celebrated with a Zimbabwean flag, it was tears for Coventry City the club that Warriors legend Peter Ndlovu played for.

Coventry City were last in the English English Premier League in 2001. The Sky Blues, as Coventry City are affectionately known, signed the then 18-year-old Peter Ndlovu from Highlanders in 1991, with the Bulawayo Bullet as Ndlovu was known in England, going on to become the first African player to play in the English Premier League.

Ndlovu went on to become a legend at Highfield Road, Coventry City’s old home including the honour of scoring a hattrick against Liverpool at Anfield, a record he shares with former Arsenal and Russian international Andrei Arshavin.

Coventry City had finished fifth in the championship to earn a play off spot, while Luton Town finished third.

In top spot were Burnley, while Sheffield United were the runners up, thereby earning automatic promotion to the premiership.

Meanwhile, Nakamba is still an Aston Villa player as his loan spell at Luton Town comes to an end at the end of the season.

It is not clear if Nakamba will continue at Villa, but indications are that Luton Town will sign him permanently from the Villans.- ZBC

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commissioned Mabobolo Primary and Secondary Schools in Binga, while also officiating at a groundbreaking ceremony for a clinic in the same area.

The President had a clear message hinged on the Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo/ Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo mantra he emphasised that Zimbabweans must build their nation, with access to education and health key targets under the Second Republic.

“I said nyika inovakwa nevene vayo [the nation is built by its people]. We want to come to a stage where all clothes are manufactured in Zimbabwe, foods we eat must be produced in Zimbabwe, even the cars we drive. For this to happen, we want our children to study science and agriculture… Our children are very talented, so as government, we provide innovation hubs to transform their dreams into a product or service. We want engineers, we want doctors,” he said.

While the Second Republic has delivered many infrastructure projects in Binga, partnerships with various stakeholders such as the church have been key in delivering health and education institutions such as the Mabobolo schools and many others across the country.

The commissioned projects are being implemented by the Reformed Church of Zimbabwe.

Said president Mnangagwa, “Thank you for partnering government in ensuring that there is development in the country. We are very grateful for churches like RCZ who not only pray for us, but also partner their government in development.”

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has revealed that he will proclaim the 2023 general elections on Monday.

“I will make a pronouncement the day after tomorrow, you must go and vote and vote in peace,” he said.

Bookmakers Predict Manchester City Win In UEFA Champions League Final

Kasukuwere Slams Pardoning Of Rapists By Govt

By A Correspondent | The exiled former ZANU PF National Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere on Sunday criticised the pardoning of paedophiles which has been done ahead of the 2023 elections.

The pardoned rapists have been told to vote for ZANU PF and its President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Kasukuwere made the below comments during a spaces discussion:

It has never been the boy. It has always been the girl child… there are certain crimes that can never be pardoned… if you murder somebody… if you rape… you can’t be pardoned.

When the law was made, it was never meant to set aside those types of crimes. Statutory rape should never be pardoned, says @Hon_Kasukuwere

I was personally disturbed by it… Yes, I belong to the Marange (church), but I think we have done away with some of these practices… whoever made that decision, they made a big blunder… how do you release a 65-year-old man who raped a 9-year-old? asks @Hon_Kasukuwere

If it was me, I was going to look for those men and throw them back into prison, says @Hon_Kasukuwere

Imagine the psychological trauma, that girl has not yet been counselled, and now suddenly the same is out of prison…

Immunization: The Basic Facts

World Immunization Week

World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Under the banner of ‘The Big Catch-Up’, WHO is working with partners to support countries to get back on track to ensure more people are protected from preventable diseases.

We need to act now to catch-up the millions of children who missed out on vaccines during the pandemic, restore essential immunization coverage to at least 2019 levels and strengthen primary health care to deliver immunization.

The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more children, adults – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases, allowing them to live happier, healthier lives.

Robert Chapman’s A Threat To Democracy, Own Official Announces Resignation | FULL TEXT

Elvis Dzvene, the Chairman of the US based Robert Chapman’s party, Democratic Union Of Zimbabwe, on Sunday announced she is stepping down claiming that the man is a threat to democracy. Full letter below:

Robert Chapman

To: President Robert Howard Chapman.
Cc: Organizing Secretary- Mochock Mushongayi:
Information Director- Itayi Muchemwa.
Sub: Resignation from Political Party.

I, Elvis Dzvene, joined the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe last year on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in hopes of creating a third force political power that will serve the needs of the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

I envisioned a country where all people are treated equally regardless of color, religion, income, age, or region. I hoped that all people would be given a chance to hold their political leaders accountable for what they do and say. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I can no longer stand by and watch helplessly.

Since June 2022, I have seen what the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe has done for the people of Zimbabwe. The party leadership failed to be held accountable by its provincial executives and its ordinary members.

• No single day has the party involve the provincial youth leaders in decision making, only sent them for ground mobilization. • Since inception no meetings held between provincial leaders and national executive (brief case politics). • Victimization of provincial coordinators by the top echelons hence decision made are biased.

• No proper national executive’s structure as everything is kept secret by the president including, all other position holders are unknown (which are people behind the scenes). • Party top echelons are more curious to join and lead POLAD than winning an election and lead Zimbabweans.

• Too much lies, unnecessary over promising (propaganda) • Lack of election preparedness.
• No Party office or a single party vehicle even at national level.

The party seems to be a threat to democracy given that the top echelon of the party can impose decisions unopposed (the party is doing what it exactly criticize the CCC for). The party has failed to honor a single promise among the endless promises it made, including failing to honor a pledge of December 2022, to people living with albinism that the party will provide them with lotions in a week’s time. Since December, nothing has been received yet these people are involved in ground mobilizations. The party has successfully failed to convince Zimbabweans that it is really into politics of change. The party seems to be good at overpromising the electorate yet delivering nothing, if not worse (is it not what the party accuse Zanu-pf for?). Instead of building a strong institution, the party is making strong individuals like other failed opposition parties in this land. DUZ, we started well with vibrancy, but we’ve quickly lost direction because the party now do exactly what it used to oppose. Surely Zimbabwe needs a serious third force that is not after fundraising for personal pocketing and serves the poor, intimidated, and victimized Zimbabweans.

I made a promise to serve my country, and I have regretfully broken that promise.
Therefore, for the reasons stated above, I am hereby resigning from the Democratic Union of Zimbabwe, effective Saturday, May 27, 2023.1 wish everyone I worked with, from grassroots to national, the best in the future and hope that they can help change this country for the better. Great wishes for the 2023 elections!
Yours faithfully;

Mnangagwa’s FAZ Presence At ZEC Voters Roll Inspection Centres Worrisome

FAZ officials’ presence at ZEC Voter inspection venues brings fear in Citizens

……..As Zanu PF president Mnangangwa is expected to announce election date tomorrow.

28th May 2023

Wezhira Munya

Yesterday, ZEC started Voter inspection program across the country.

Voter inspection takes place from 27th May to 30th May 2023.

At some ZEC centres in Masvingo, there were no voters rolls among others.

In addition, the few centres that had voters roll, few people came to inspect their names among other details.

There is need for CCC and other political parties to mobilize people to go and inspect their names.

The presence of Forever Associates in Zimbabwe (FAZ) members recording voters details outside inspection centres, have put fear among voters.

In Bikita, Gutu among other rural areas, FAZ’s actions have caused people to panic.

In Chivi, FAZ members has caused the arrest of CCC nominated councillor, Mr Zireva.

Has FAZ started to rig elections?

FAZ is an organization that was responsible for conducting Zanu PF primary elections.

Therefore, many people view FAZ as Zanu PF proxy.

Citizens must defy FAZ, by not giving them their details.

Tomorrow, Zanu PF president Mnangangwa will announce the much awaited harmonized elections date.

Chamisa Replacing Mwonzora In Parly

Dear Editor

President of the Citizens Coalition for Change, Nelson Chamisa will take over as leader of the opposition in Parliament from Douglas Mwonzora, president of the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai.

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of the Zanu PF party will use the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to force a win against Chamisa in the presidential race, which development will lead to Chamisa heading the opposition in parliament.

The title of Leader of the Opposition is a semi-official legislative position awarded to the head of the biggest opposition party or group in Parliament in nations that have adapted the Westminster model of parliamentary government.

The symbolism in the post is significant despite being primarily metaphorical.

The Constitution’s section 151 designates “the Leader of the Opposition in each House” (i.e., the National Assembly and the Senate) as members of the committee that oversees the parliamentary procedures.

The Leader of the Opposition is a member of the Business of the House Committee under Order 14 of the Standing Rules and Orders of the National Assembly.

Top Prophet Tells Pardoned Paedepholes To Vote for Mnangagwa

By Dorrothy Moyo | A prophet who says people who vote for ZANU PF will be added 15 years on earth, Madzibaba Andby Makururu, has shot a video saying the paedophiles who were released from prison a few days ago, must vote for that party’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In his Facebook live video, Madzibaba Andby said, ” our president executed what is called amnesty; amnesty means the rescuing of people by the country’s leader, like our President did…

“My message to the people is let us go and vote ZANU PF, that’s the straight way,” as he connected to the interview of another pardoned rapist who announces on video saying, “Mnangagwa is honey!”

Makururu is popular for prophesying that the former Zambian President Edgar Lungu would win that country’s 2021 elections, a prediction which upon being interviewed by ZimEye over it, he would comment saying he uttered it because the Holy Spirit only instructs him to support ruling parties.

The development comes as a local paper, Newsday narrates how, when a 59-year-old villager forced himself on an 11-year-old girl, his name was Emelka (not her real name). The villager repeatedly attacked the young girl, threatening to use witchcraft to murder her if she dared tell anybody about it.

The problem wasn’t discovered until the girl became ill and a watchful nurse noted that she had acquired a sexually transmitted virus.

The individual was detained and given a 12-year prison term. He was, however, one among those who was freed last week as a result of a presidential amnesty.

“I am appalled and devastated by President (Emmerson) Mnangagwa’s decision to grant amnesty to rapists. My daughter, who was brutally assaulted, fought tirelessly for justice and now it feels like her struggle was in vain,” Elmelka’s mother told NewsDay Weekender.

“This amnesty sends a message that the pain and trauma endured by victims is insignificant. It is a betrayal of our trust in the justice system and a blow to all the survivors who summoned the courage to come forward. I fear for the safety of women in our society, as this decision only encourages more violence and leaves us without recourse.”

Rapists who are over 65 and have completed two-thirds of their prison sentences were released last week under the terms of the presidential pardon.

A heated discussion about women’s protection and the effectiveness of the legal system has been sparked by the amnesty for convicted rapists.

Victims of rape expressed their dismay at seeing convicted rapists ‘boasting’ about their crimes on TV after being let out of prison.

Legal professionals and activists contend that freeing those responsible for such crimes undermines efforts to stop gender-based violence and protect victims.

“The decision to grant amnesty to rapists by Mnangagwa raises serious concerns about the government’s commitment to addressing gender-based violence. While prison overcrowding is undoubtedly a pressing issue, it should never come at the expense of survivors’ rights and safety,” Taodzera said.

“This decision undermines the efforts of activists, organisations, and individuals who have tirelessly worked towards creating a society free from violence and discrimination. It sends a message that the state is prioritising the convenience of the justice system over the well-being of survivors and the deterrence of future crimes.

“It is crucial for the government to consider alternative measures that do not compromise the principles of justice, such as implementing comprehensive rehabilitation programs and improving the efficiency of the judicial process. Failure to do so not only erodes public trust but also perpetuates a culture of impunity that further endangers the lives of women and girls.”

Legal expert Admire Huniuswa questioned the constitutionality of the amnesty, which he said could be in violation of international human rights norms and domestic laws that guarantee protection against gender-based violence. The move, he said, disregards the rights of victims and fails to address the root causes of sexual violence in society.

“The amnesty to rapists raises significant legal concerns and questions the adherence to international human rights standards. While the issue of prison overcrowding is a legitimate concern, it is crucial to prioritise the rights and safety of survivors and ensure that justice is served. Granting amnesty to rapists undermines the principle of accountability and sends a detrimental message to both survivors and potential offenders,” Huniuswa said.

“It is essential to explore alternative solutions, such as improving the efficiency of the justice system, implementing restorative justice programmes, and providing comprehensive support to survivors. Moreover, this decision may be in violation of domestic laws and international human rights instruments that guarantee protection against gender-based violence. It is imperative for legal experts and human rights organisations to challenge the constitutionality of this amnesty and advocate for a justice system that upholds the rights and safety of all individuals, particularly survivors of sexual violence.”

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in a statement on Wednesday said it was “grossly irrational to release dangerous, unrehabilitated offenders back into society” before informing or preparing rape victims.

“Unleashing an unrehabilitated rapist who has not served his sentence back into his community unchecked, and with no safeguards to protect victims endangers women and girls and can never be reasonably justifiable in a democratic society,” CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said in a statement.- Newsday

Chitungwiza Lady “Kills” Hubby

A 53-year-old Chitungwiza woman is accused of killing her husband after an argument over relish and has appeared in court.

The court heard that Wilson Muchimwe (53) was irritated when he got home and discovered that Nozizwe Mpengesi had prepared vegetables for dinner rather than meat, causing a misunderstanding.

When Mpengesi showed up in front of Harare Magistrate Mr. Dennis Mangosi, she was accused of murder. She was instructed to seek for bail before the High Court while still in detention.

According to investigations, Mpengesi and Muchimwe got into a quarrel on that fateful day after he returned home inebriated and complained that she had made veggies instead of meat for supper relish.

Muchimwe allegedly fell headfirst onto a slab of concrete after Mpengesi retaliated and shoved him.

The now-deceased began bleeding from the forehead, according to the testimony given in court, which prompted Mpengesi to go to ZRP Zengeza 5 base and lie to the police about Muchimwe’s alleged assault at an unidentified pub by unidentified attackers.

Further investigations showed that Mpengesi stole all of Muchimwe’s clothing and shoes and delivered them to her sister Thandiwe Mpengesi in order to hide proof that she knew about him beforehand and was close to him.

Yesterday, the court heard testimony that Mpengesi guided detectives to the location while being recorded on camera, where she gave cues as to how she had done the crime.

She also assisted in the rescue of Muchimwe’s jacket and shoes.

In order to conduct a post-mortem examination, Muchimwe’s body is at the Chitungwiza hospital mortuary.

Inter Forward Likely To Miss UEFA Champions League

The fitness of Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa is in significant doubt for the Champions League final against Man City.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the most recent muscle injury suffered by the 28-year-old Argentine international means that he is at real risk of missing out on next month’s clash with City.

Inter confirmed today that Correa has suffered a calf strain.

The former Lazio, Sevilla, and Sampdoria forward complained of pain in his leg after the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina. Subsequent medical tests revealed that Correa had suffered a strain to the soleus muscle in his right calf.

Now, the big question is whether Correa will be able to play again for Inter again this season.

There are two Serie A matches to go, and then the Champions League final against City in Istanbul on June 10.

What is abundantly clear, is that Correa will not be able to start against Atalanta tomorrow. The Argentine had been predicted to start against La Dea in Inter’s penultimate league fixture of the season.

However, this is now out of the questions, as would a start against Torino next weekend almost certainly.

Also in doubt, though, is the Champions League final according to the Gazzetta.-sempreinter

Aston Villa To Release Nakamba

Aston Villa are reportedly considering offloading Marvelous Nakamba permanently in the next transfer window.

Nakamba left the EPL club in January to join promotion-chasing Championship side Luton Town on a six-month loan deal.

According to Birmingham Mail newspaper, the Warriors international, along with other players, who left on loan in January, will be moved permanently at the end of the season.

A report by the publication said: “Should Villa find themselves fighting on four fronts next term, beefing up the squad in the summer will be of the utmost important to (coach) Unai Emery, who successfully trimmed the fringes of the squad in January when sanctioning the exits of Danny Ings, Ludwig Augustinsson, Jan Bednarek, Morgan Sanson, Marvelous Nakamba and Frederic Guilbert.

“Of those players whose departures were loans, they’re expected to be moved on permanently this summer.”

Following his move to Luton, Nakamba discovered his form and quickly became a key player in the squad.

The 29-year-old won the club’s Player of the Month for March, while also pushing his side to qualify for the Championship play-off final.- Soccer24 News

Sikhala Fundraises From Chikurubi

By-CCC deputy chair and Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala, has set up a trust fund to solicit financial support from well-wishers who wish to support his family.

This was confirmed by human rights lawyer David Coltart, who is also a CCC member.
Coltart said a new Notarial Deed called The Sikhala Family Trust has been established to assist Sikhala and his family. He posted on Twitter:
I recently visited Honourable Job Sikhala at Chikurubi Maximum Prison where he signed before me a new Notarial Deed named The Sikhala Family Trust, which is designed to support him and his family.
The Trustees of the new Trust are a prominent Bulawayo lawyer and a Bulawayo-based pastor.
Yesterday the Deed was completed and now there is a lawful Sikhala Family Trust in place which can receive donations from well-wishers.
The law firm Webb, Low and Barry has been instructed by the Trust to manage the Trust.
Those who wish to assist the Sikhala family please inbox me.
Sikhala has been in pre-trial detention for almost a year following his arrest on incitement to commit violence and disorderly conduct charges.
He was arrested following violent clashes in Nyatsime at the funeral of Moreblessing Ali, a CCC activist who had been missing for three weeks before her mutilated body was discovered in a disused well on 11 June 2022.
Sikhala was arrested on 14 June alongside Chitungwiza North MP, Godfrey Sithole, and 14 other CCC activists.

American Think Tank Predicts Mnangagwa Victory

By- An American think tank, Fitch Solutions, has predicted that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF will likely win in general elections scheduled for August this year.

In its new report, Fitch Solutions said the opposition CCC led by Nelson Chamisa will win key votes in low-income urban areas but ZANU PF will win the overall vote due to “overarching resources” and the advantage of incumbency. The report said:
At Fitch Solutions, we believe that the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his ZANU PF party will win the upcoming general elections due to be held by August 2023.
ZANU PF’s overarching resources and influence compared to the opposition CCC, headed by Chamisa, will preserve its support in rural strongholds and win key votes in low-income urban areas.
Central to our belief that ZANU PF will win the elections is the party’s far greater political and economic resources it has to sway the vote in its favour.
The report also warns of possible unrest in the country in the run-up to and aftermath of the elections. It said:
Overall, reform momentum under another Mnangagwa presidency will remain weak and will constrain the country’s medium-term macroeconomic outlook.
We see a rising likelihood of unrest in the run-up to and aftermath of the elections, prompting us to revise down the short-term political risk index score from 38.8 to 37.9, below the Sub-Saharan Africa average of 50.1.
In the aftermath of the 2018 general elections, security forces used live rounds of ammunition to disperse protestors in central Harare.
Six people were shot dead, some were shot in the back while fleeing the mayhem, and several others were injured.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) declared Mnangagwa the winner, but Chamisa contested the results of the presidential poll in court.
However, the Constitutional Court upheld Mnangagwa’s victory, saying Chamisa failed to provide evidence that the results were rigged.

LEAKED AUDIO: 3 Women Stripped Naked By Robbers Driving Kombi.

Dear ZimEye
Greetings friends and relatives. I have my ordeal that transpired on 25th May.

On Africa Day, at 10am I was heading towards Beatrice Road while in a Noah kombi; there were 3 men and 1 huge woman.

After the tollgate, we were suddenly told, sorry, you are in a robbers’ car. At first we thought he was joking. We were told to surrender all out belongs including phones, which he started throwing off to the woman sitting at the front.

The woman told us, “this is just our method survival.”

It says a silver Noah.

They then told us to remove everything we have including wallets, all our clothes including underwear. We became stark naked.

They told us to drop off and lie down, the 6 of us all. They left us, and the last young man, told us not to scream or cry out, and then left.

The Bush was a big forest, that it took us 30 minutes to come out of it.

They had tied us up with small rods used for goats. We fled into a Bush and found a vapositori shrine, and we took up cloths we found there.

We continued traveling away and then found a homestead where we were told that we are in Nyatsime, at the Red Roofs. The Sabhuku told us to lead him to where we had come from, and upon arriving there we found those young men arriving as they looked for us.

So I just want to tell Zimbabweans that be careful which cars you board. If you find this audio, don’t ignore it. I used to do that and learnt my lesson on the 25th May. – ZimEye

Qoki Frauds: Refunds Underway

By A Correspondent | 7pm Saturday, ZimEye holds a 30 min follow up program over the Qoki Zindlovukazi frauds which are further revealed at a time refunds are resuming.

The session also comes at a time when Qoki founder, Sithule Tshuma admitted she deceived (title deed seeking) investors in her Nondweni 3 farm project which property has been found to be not only a 99 year lease territory but a mining claim. The development now forces Tshuma to refund all the investors, the same way she has done others; and all this is happening at a time when Qoki’s founding legal expert, Julian Condliffe is paying out a whopping GBP56,000 to another victim, one of many others subjected to bullying and harassment for several years to date.

One investor speaking to ZimEye described the feat in the following words, saying: ” Impondo azifihleki emgodleni, noma kanjani, bekuzaze kubenini. Vuka Mthwakazi ungadliwa in the name of the Fraudster also being a Mthwakazian. Name ubuguluva as it is, Fraud Fraud Fraud!”

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Another incarnation of the struggle against Zimbabwe’s existence is currently underway. ‘Divide and rule’ is giving way to’starve and rule,’ at this point according to Prof. Nhema. In Zimbabwe, prices are drastically increasing once more as a result of Western sanctions and opposition tactics to compel the Regime Change agenda.

These industrial captains are currently using “starve-and-rule” tactics against Zimbabwe, which are frequently combined with “divide-and-rule” strategies. The goal is to starve Zimbabweans into uprising. They will be compelled to cast their votes with their stomachs, not their minds, when they are starving. It is very evident that people who support a change in the current government are content to see Zimbabwe fall into a divide and rule system, which is a kind of the starve and vote mentality.

Zimbabweans should use these local proverbs that reveal Western plots against them when analysing the Western sanctions.
It should be made very clear that those who support the opposition and talk about human rights do not believe that Zimbabweans deserve such rights because they believe that Zimbabweans are stupid and will turn against one another in the name of such rights.
Ironically, the West actively engages in the nighttime burning of Zimbabweans alive while preaching human rights and peace.

Our financial stability Secure and robust supply chains are necessary for stable employment and the efficient operation of crucial sectors. For more than five years, the critics have maintained that a disruption in the supply of crucial and vital resources would disproportionately impact vital industries.

The ZANUPF has improved our nation’s ability for innovation, which is dependent on a strong and diverse industrial foundation. Innovation follows the offshore manufacturing trend.
A supply chain that bounces back fast from an unplanned occurrence is resilient. Our private sector and public policy approach to domestic manufacturing, which for years put efficiency and cheap prices ahead of security, sustainability, and resilience, has given rise to supply chain vulnerabilities that are now beginning to directly impact our chain supply outlets.

The lords of the industries have also hampered Zimbabwean workers’ ability to manage natural resources both domestically and internationally as well as their wealth and health. Rebuilding for resilience at the national level necessitates a renewed focus on broad-based growth and sustainability as the Administration sets out on a course to revitalise our manufacturing base and safeguard global supply chains.

In order to create resilient supply chains, Zimbabwe must capitalise on its greatest assets, including its unrivalled innovation ecosystem, its people, its enormous ethnic, racial, and regional diversity, its small and medium-sized enterprises, and its solid alliances with partners and allies who share its values.
Zimbabwean workers must serve as the building blocks of fortitude. Rapid problem-solving, driven by knowledge, leadership, and total engagement of those working on the factory floor, is necessary for resilient production. Years of treating labour as a cost to be managed rather than an asset to be engaged in have drove down real salaries and unionisation rates for workers while also making it more difficult for businesses to attract and retain qualified people.

We must concentrate on building routes for all Zimbabweans to acquire well-paying jobs with the fair and free option to band together and engage in collective bargaining.
We must make sure that everyone in the nation, including women, young people, and other groups who are all too frequently left behind, has access to economic opportunities. Millions of prospective employees, researchers, and entrepreneurs are unable to fully contribute to growth and innovation because of income and geographic inequality. The production of all necessary Zimbabwean goods domestically is not feasible nor desirable.

Building trade and investment relationships with countries that share our values—valuing our national dignity, labour rights, environmental preservation, and democracy—must be the main thrust of the administration’s resilience strategy.

And in order to prevent the problem, which is undoubtedly man-made, we must face the leaders of the industry. The government must to collaborate with businesses that produce and supply essential necessities like food and medication to Zimbabweans. It is important to recognise the importance of economic commodities in the struggle against the use of food as a tool for regime change.
If one doesn’t understand the realities of the majority of Zimbabweans, who also happen to be ardent ZANUPF supporters, one is not familiar with how economic sanctions are affecting our country’s economy. Food on the shelves alone won’t be enough to change the voting tendency.

It is absurd to assume that Zimbabweans will inevitably complain about baked beans on social media and think that the ZANUPF will have difficulties. Keep in mind that the typical Zimbabwean is well aware of our history and the reasons why our economy has been constantly undermined for the past 20 years.

If anything, difficult circumstances only serve to increase the public’s unshakeable support for Zimbabwe and the ZANUPF.
The same Rhodes then continued to provide assistance to Africans, but only if they stopped rebelling against colonial control.
The’starve-and-rule approach’ operates on the principle of gut politics.
Who wants their stomach to be in pain all the time?
It is cliché to say that one must first live peacefully with one’s stomach before one can live peacefully with other people.

The’starve-and-rule’ strategy used by the imperial system is built on this.
They are aware that one follows their stomach.
Zimbabweans are not suffering because their government is ineffective.
Zimbabweans are actually suffering as a result of imperialism’s “starve-and-rule” and “divide-and-rule” political strategies.

Repositioning African States to strategically own and control the continent’s economies is a wise move.
If a state’s responsibility is to protect its people, then it is the responsibility of African States to shield their people from the vulnerability brought on by foreign ownership and control of the continent’s economies.
When Western States undermine African economies, it has a similar effect to the time when colonialists wiped out African grain stores and harvests to reduce their ability to resist colonisation.
The path forward is to nationalise, indigenize, and Africanize African economies.

African States must promote and offer advantages to indigenous Africans who may be headquartered locally or overseas so that they invest in their nations and on their continent rather than travelling the world luring and granting favours to foreign investors.
Real strategic repositioning for Africa would look like this.

The US has a robust economy because it owns and controls it rather than having many foreign investors.

Therefore, Africans must own and manage their economies, as well as their lands and other resources.
Zimbabwe is moving in the right direction, despite the West’s continued practise of “starve-and-rule” politics towards its citizens.
Zimbabwe has been carefully realigning itself for power and freedom, but naturally, just like slave hunters, the West is quick to punish anyone that realign or position themselves for true freedom and sovereignty.

We Are Winning- Zanu PF

WITH the primary elections done and dusted, the revolutionary ZANU PF party in Gwanda is intensifying mass mobilisation programmes to ensure members are focused on ensuring victory for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other candidates.

ZANU PF Gwanda District has embarked on mass mobilisation ahead of the 2023 general elections expected in August this year.

While the primary elections have now been concluded, a sight of all candidates who were contesting breaking bread, hugging and shaking hands could only mean one thing, the elections were just an internal process.

“Yes, people were in a race but it’s now behind us. The bigger picture is mobilising for the President to get 5 million +votes,” said ZANU PF Gwanda DCC Chairperson, Cde David Linda.

For the contestants ZANU PF is bigger than individual ambitions

“Whoever wins a primary election will just be a face of ZANU PF but the truth is ZANU PF is bigger than all of us. We need to make sure that we swallow all the pride we might be having and make sure that the President wins and then the MP and the councillor,” said one of the candidates.

“We ran a race and someone was the first lets rally behind him,” reiterated another.

Another candidate weighed in, “It is no longer the time to play, during primary elections we were playing now it’s the real fight so let’s be united and forget that I contested.”

“I may be the one who came first but I can’t do it alone, let’s rally behind the Party first before me,” emphasised another.

ZANU PF Matabeleland South Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Washington Nkomo took time to give words of counsel to party candidates for the general elections.

“People have entrusted you with with lives, make sure that you don’t forget that and start chasing individual ambitious. The party comes first,” noted Cde Nkomo.

1 Killed As Fuel Gonyet Overturns

When a fuel tanker driver’s vehicle crashed near the Mzilikazi Barracks in Bulawayo, spewing more than 20,000 litres of gasoline, the Bulawayo-Harare highway was shut down for hours while emergency services tried to contain the potentially fatal catastrophe.
Firefighters from Bulawayo bravely battled to save the tanker from setting fire, which would have been disastrous.

Traffic was redirected, but it was difficult for police to control drivers who still wanted to approach the accident scene.

The truck was carrying 40 000 litres of petrol, according to Mr Frederick Maponga, an Environmental Management Agency Environmental Quality Officer who was on the scene.

“We received a phone call at around 7pm and we rushed to the scene where we noted the tanker had overturned with the fire department at the scene. So far about 20 000 litres of fuel spilt to the environment although we are yet to conduct full investigations as to the cause and how much was spilt. Petrol causes loss of bio-diversity in the soil which means it kills all the living organisms and plants in the environment,” he said.

Mr Maponga urged drivers transporting hazardous material to be cautious on the roads to avoid such disasters.

He warned members of the public and motorists to desist from approaching such scenes as they are extremely dangerous to human life.

“We had police controlling the scene but you find people still wanting to bypass the blockades put to control traffic. An explosion would have had disastrous results,” said Mr Maponga.-State Media

Citizens Remember Moreblessing Ali

CCC Namibia demands justice for the butchered Moreblessing Ali!

24 May 2023

Today marks twelve (12) months after the enforced disappearance and gruesome human butchery of the slain CCC activist Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza. Citizens Coalition for Change is busy ruminating on the efficacious measures to be taken to ensure that justice prevails over this authoritarian nature of leadership. After being butchered by a renowned ZANU PF hoodlum, Moreblessing Ali is not yet buried.

It is mesmerizing and transfixing that murderers are still displaying their insatiable appetite to continue tormenting the innocent soul of the deceased, her family, and the CCC political outfit at large by keeping Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala behind bars. The family made it point-blank that the deceased shall not be buried until the family spokesperson and lawyer is unconditionally released from the hellhole of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison on concocted charges. Moreblessing Ali deserves a befitting send-off.

The incessant denial of justice for both Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala and Moreblessing Ali should be peacefully challenged through the legal and political avenues as per the dictates of the supreme law of the country. It is our revolutionary mandate as change champions to extend our demand for justice to SADC, AU, European Union, and the United Nations. After one year, right-thinking citizens should pent up their outrage demanding justice, freedom, and equality in the local courts.

CCC Namibia has declared the 24th of May 2023 a day of mourning over sterile democracy in the motherland. It is now imperative to amplify our voices demanding answers to the apparent travesty of justice in Zimbabwe. Moreblessing Ali did not commit any crime, supporting the alternative should never invite assassinations. Everyone is free to join a political party of his\her choice. CCC is not a banned organization. The organic assembly sympathizes with the bereaved family.

ZANU PF-sponsored judges must respect the rule of law and constitutionalism. Ali and Sikhala families deserve peace of mind. These monkey tactics displayed by the clueless regime should be confronted with equal measure. As Zimbabwe heads toward harmonized elections in August, we anticipate the Harare regime to create a conducive environment for free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections. The Provisional Chairperson for CCC Namibia Rundu Branch, Dr. Simbarashe Ndoda echoed that the continued incarceration of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is a futile attempt by the politically bankrupt regime to intimidate and deter social democrats ahead of the historic elections.

He further aired that ZANU-PF has pressed the panic button hence citizens should not backtrack on demanding justice, equality, and freedom. The organic champion urged citizens across the globe to exert political and diplomatic pressure advocating for absolute respect for the Constitution. Zimbabweans should brace for dangerous freedom as a sure way of defending the vote. We should devise peaceful means to shake the Shake-Shake Building which has housed abusers of the universal basic human freedoms since the inception of the simulacrum of phony independence in April 1980 as Frantz Fanon postulates.

Sanity should provoke massive peaceful resistance among the committed and dedicated patriots who subscribe to the national democratic revolution engineered by none other than the political generator President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. The voice from CCC Namibia says, “#FreeJobSaroWiwaSikhala, we want to decently bury our deceased change champion, Moreblessing Ali !” The Ali family deserves peace and tranquility. Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala did not commit any crime to deserve this long pre-trial detention.

Let’s soldier on in solidarity with the bereaved family as well as political prisoners such as Wiwa, Jacob Ngarivhume, the ZINASU FOUR, etc. The captured police and courts should desist from this stinking weaponization of the law. Justice delayed is justice denied. Trying to close the democratic arena ahead of the watershed elections should not frighten anyone. Let’s be ready to VOTE BIG!, WIN BIG! and DEFEND BIG! Nakamba To Return To Aston Villa?

Mai TT In Shocking Chimbadzo Court Case Defence

By-Popular Comedienne Felistus Murata, also known as Mai TT, has denied the fraud charges she is facing.

Murata, whose trial is now at defence stage, denied the charges arguing that she never gave the complainant, Ms Rachel Mhuka, a Mercedes Benz vehicle as surety for the loan which she undertook to repay by November 30 last year.
Murata claimed she told Mhuka that the Benz she had given her as collateral was not hers and then took an affidavit that she signed.
As for the Audi Q5 vehicle, Murata said she gave Mhuka the car for safekeeping and not as replacement of collateral.
“She wanted half of her money before I travelled to the UK. I was now using the Q5 at the time. I had an errand to run in Chinhoyi and because people kept coming to my house to take things, I asked her (Mhuka) to keep the car.
“I told her I was in danger and asked her to keep the car for me. I told my PA to give her my passport since I was in Chinhoyi at the time,” said Murata.
Murata also denied ever giving Mhuka a fake passport but said the passport had a cancelled United States visa.
“Rachel called me saying l had given her a fake passport because there was a cancelled visa but my passport was not cancelled. The visa was cancelled when the US government discovered that I was working in the country without a work permit.”
Allegations are that the Mercedes Benz Murata gave as surety to Mhuka was hired. Murata later claimed back the Mercedes Benz saying it did not belong to her and handed over another vehicle, an Audi Q5.
This car she again retrieved and replaced with an invalid passport as surety
When Mhuka realised that the passport was invalid, she confronted Murata who immediately returned the second vehicle.
In January this year, police from Rhodesville approached Mhuka and seized the car saying it had been stolen from Else Event Car Hire.
This was after the company reported Murata for theft of trust property.
The trial will continue on May 31. Herald

Armed Robbers Hit Delta, Snatch US$20 000

By-Police in Manicaland have launched a manhunt for six armed robbers who recently raided Delta Beverages depot in Chipinge before stealing more than US$20 900 and R18 700 cash after attacking security guards and a driver.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying the six were armed with pistols.
“The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred at Delta Beverage Depot, Chipinge on May 22, 2023,” he said. “Six unknown suspects armed with pistols attacked security guards, a truck driver and a cashier before stealing US$20 965 and R18 750 cash.”
Armed robbery cases have been on the increase countrywide with some of the suspects arrested while others are still at large.
Recently, 20 robbers armed with a pistol, machetes, okapi knives and iron bars attacked eight security guards at Wilmode Farm in Mvurwi before stealing 63 tobacco bales.
Criminals, some of them posing as policemen, have been robbing tobacco farmers at gunpoint as they move their bales at night.
Farmers have also been falling prey to thieves at the auction floors, especially in Harare.
The farmers have been urged to be wary of criminals who take advantage of the increased human and vehicular traffic at the auction floors during the selling season to commit offences.
There has also been a marginal increase in fraud cases involving card cloning, mobile cash transactions, forgery, theft from cars and pick-pocketing.
Farmers were also advised not to entertain strangers and to safeguard their produce, as well as proceeds from sales.
Over the past few years, farmers have lost tobacco worth thousands of dollars after being robbed of their crop while in transit to the auction floors.
Other farmers are waylaid by criminals who steal their hard-earned cash, goods and valuables while others are being targeted by bogus security agents.
Farmers have also been advised not to use unroadworthy vehicles as some were robbed when their vehicles developed mechanical faults. Last week, police in Harare arrested one of the criminals and recovered 15 tobacco bales.

About Immunization

World Immunization Week 2023

World Immunization Week 2023 – 24 to 30 April

Justice delayed is justice denied. Trying to close the democratic arena ahead of the watershed elections should not frighten anyone. Let’s be ready to VOTE BIG!, WIN BIG! and DEFEND BIG! Monkey Tactics Will Not Work, Mnangagwa Told

Zimbabweans Too Smart For Nothing – Zivhu

Tinashe Sambiri|Controversial politician Killer Zivhu has said Zimbabweans are too smart for nothing.

The outspoken politician believes Zimbabweans’ minds were corrupted by British education.

Argued Zivhu:
“Zimbabwe doesn’t have educated people as they claim, the British curiculum, yatakadzidza ye white collar job ndiyo inotipa kutambura kudayi, we are allover the World like grasshoppers, nokuti takadzidziswa kusvaka basa, politicians make advantage because we are weak.”

Nurses Threatens Mass Action Over Poor Salaries

Nurses have put government on notice to improve their salaries and conditions of service or face mass action, saying their earnings were no longer viable.

The nurses accused their employer of pushing them to the “extremes” as their salaries have been wiped out by inflation, while no effort is being made to improve their conditions of service.

In an emotional letter to the Health Services Commission (HSC), nurses said they were having to watch helplessly while patients die in under-equipped hospitals.

The letter, dated May 24 was addressed to the HSC acting secretary-general Angelbert Mbengwa.

Zimbabwe Nurses Association president Enock Dongo said the nurses had made several efforts to engage their employer to no avail.

“Firstly it is a matter of great regret that precedent is seemingly showing that the plight of nurses is not an issue of concern to the employer,” Dongo said.

“The Health Service Bipartite Negotiating Panel, which is supposed to be the forum in which issues are discussed has been deliberately made useless as it has not met in the past two years despite our persistent request for it to sit and discuss issues.”

Dongo added: “As nurses, our morale is at its lowest ever. We are working under extremely poor conditions that are not only unsafe to patients but even unsafe to ourselves.  Even our capacity to withstand pain has been pushed to the extreme because on a daily basis we see patients dying simply because basic medication and equipment that could potentially save their lives are not in stock at our hospitals.”

Contacted for comment, Mbengwa said he had not yet received the letter.  He said should the commission receive the letter, it would “look into the issues raised”.

“The nurses know the protocol,” Mbengwa said.

“They have to go through the Health Service Bipartite Forum, and then if we get the letter, we will look into the issues that were raised in the letter.”

Nurses currently earn US$200 in allowances and another U$100 in local currency.

In January, government amended the Health Services Act to bar public healthcare workers from striking for more than 72 hours.

Health workers, who go on strike face disciplinary action, while organisers of such strikes can face imprisonment of up to six months, or both.

Government has in the past fired health workers for striking.

But Dongo said such threats were not the solution.

“We, therefore, urge our employer to have a listening ear and seriously consider our plight. To refuse to meet us is not the answer. To simply say we will arrest you if you strike is not the answer. To withhold the necessary letter of good standing so as to sabotage our efforts to seek employment in other jurisdictions is not the answer. We, therefore, kindly, but urgently request a meeting with yourselves and interested stakeholders within the next 14 days so as to find solutions for the good of our health sector,” he said.

Zimbabwe has recorded a mass exodus of health workers, with at least 4 000 said to have migrated to the United Kingdom in the past two years.

James Makamba Nzvee’d KwaAmato! By Own Employees

By A Correspondent | The Communications and Allied Workers Union (CAWUZ) has requested that the James Makamba found, Telecel Zimbabwe, a provider of mobile phone services, be placed under corporate rescue, a localised version of bankruptcy protection. The Master of the High Court has supported this request, paving the way to what might end up being a historic take over by a company’s employees and their colleagues.

Nzvee kwaAmato! tycoon, overtaken by own employees

The High Court Master must submit a report in support of or against the application during the corporate rescue filing process, but the judge retains the final say.

The third-largest mobile telecommunications company in the nation was put under corporate rescue in October 2022 by CAWUZ in an effort to prevent possible liquidation.

CAWUZ represents the workers who are owed large sums of money in unpaid salaries. Being owed money in unpaid subscriptions makes CAWUZ itself a creditor.

The application’s premise is that the company is in financial distress because it has neglected to make its debt payments. It is argued that despite the company’s apparent financial difficulties, there are still some solid chances that it will be saved from impending failure. In order to prevent the company from going out of business, CAWUZ further argues that it needs to be managed and supervised by a corporate rescue specialist who must create a rescue plan to revive its operations.

The candidate for corporate rescue practitioner is Mr. Knowledge Hofisi of Aurifin Capital. Telecel, according to CAWUZ, has allegedly been in danger of failing for a while. It has been shown that this indicates the company is insolvent because its liabilities exceed its assets. According to the market performance of the company’s rivals, however, its financial difficulties “are not insurmountable.”

Telecel, CAWUZ argues, despite insolvency, still enjoys some “realistic prospects of recovery if accorded an opportunity to do so.”

Additionally, CAWUZ has looked into the “inexhaustible” commercial opportunities in the telecoms industry and used “this to demonstrate that the company has reasonable prospects of being rescued and of being a successful concern again.”

However, Telecel opposed the motion and disputed, among other things, CAWUZ’s locus standi to file the High Court application. It argues that because CAWUZ is not an affected person under the statute, it lacks the legal authority to file the application.

Even though Telecel claimed it was not in financial trouble, V Gapara, Master of The High Court (Additional Master)-Insolvency and Minors, noted that this did not seem to refute the fact that the business had been ignoring its debts and was still obligated to pay them. Mr. Gapara argued that it was obvious the company was in financial trouble from the founding documents, including the most recent financial records.

“The records show a company whose liabilities exceed its assets,” said Mr Gapara.

“It is thus, from a balance sheet standpoint, insolvent. This much does not seem to have been disproved by the company which…seems to suggest that the true value of its assets can only be ascertained after a firm of chartered accountants it engaged completes its asset revaluation exercise. There is no indication that the exercise has been completed and that the report has been released,” Mr Gapare added.

He argued corporate rescue was the only viable option for saving the company. He argued that while Telecel was in financial distress, it enjoyed reasonable prospects of being rescued.

“Should the court decide, in the circumstances; that corporate rescue proceedings are the most appropriate remedy to cure the company’s financial distress, enabling it to pay off its creditors and steering it back to a state of commercial viability, the Master has no objections against the appointment of Mr Knowledge Hofisi to the position of corporate rescue practitioner for Telecel.”

Wild Animals Cause Havoc In Chiredzi

COMMUNITIES in Chikombedzi area of Chiredzi are living in fear following revelations that three people from the area were killed by animals this year.

Wild animals have become a menace in areas surrounding the Gonarezhou National Park which include the Davata area of Chikombedzi with elephants and wild pigs destroying crops and posing danger to humans and livestock.

“This year three people were killed by elephants in Samu village and in Davata. The wild animals have been causing a lot of problems for us and we hope the authorities will intervene,” said a worried villager.

“Our area is a dry region and we mostly survive on livestock farming. The wild animals are killing our goats and cattle. We are left with nothing then hunger strikes,” said another.

Another concerned resident added, “Last year I put sorghum on my two plots which are near my homestead. I did not get anything because wild pigs came and ate all my crops. We hope that in future there will be some form of compensation to the victims of human and wildlife conflict.”

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson, Mr Tinashe Farawo confirmed that they have received several distress calls from the area.

“We are receiving a number of distress calls from communities across the country and Chikombedzi is one of them. We encourage communities to give us much information as possible and we react within the shortest possible time,” said Farawo.

“We have different animals which move around and we are encouraging our communities to try to minimise movement at night because most of the attacks occur at night. We are also discouraging communities from herding their livestock in game parks,” he added.

This comes at a time when the Cabinet has approved the establishment of the Human-Wildlife Conflict Relief Fund for victims.- ZBC News

World Mourns Tina Turner

BBC News – Singer Tina Turner, whose soul classics and pop hits like The Best and What’s Love Got to Do With It made her a superstar, has died at the age of 83.

Turner had suffered a number of health issues in recent years including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure.

She rose to fame alongside husband Ike in the 1960s with songs including Proud Mary and River Deep, Mountain High.

She divorced the abusive Ike in 1978, and went on to find even greater success as a solo artist in the 1980s.

Dubbed the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner was famed for her raunchy and energetic stage performances and husky, powerful vocals.

She won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 as a solo artist, having first been inducted alongside Ike Turner in 1991.

Upon her solo induction, the Hall of Fame noted how she had “expanded the once-limited idea of how a Black woman could conquer a stage and be both a powerhouse and a multidimensional being”.

Younger stars who have felt her influence include Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Janelle Monae and Rihanna.

Born in Tennessee into a sharecropping family, she first found prominence as one of the backing singers for her husband’s band The Kings of Rhythm.

She soon went to to front the band, and the couple tasted commercial success with Fool in Love and It’s Gonna Work Out Fine, which made the US charts in the early 60s.

Their other hits included 1973’s Nutbush City Limits, about the small town where Tina was born. But Ike’s physical and emotional abuse was taking its toll.

It was he who changed her name from her birth name, Anna Mae Bullock, to Tina Turner – a decision he took without her knowledge, one example of his controlling behaviour.

She recalled the trauma she suffered throughout their relationship in her 2018 memoir, My Love Story, in which she compared sex with the late musician to “a kind of rape”.

“He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang,” she wrote.

After escaping her abuser, she went on to rebuild her career and become one of the biggest pop and rock stars of the 80s and 90s, with hits including Let’s Stay Together, Steamy Windows, Private Dancer, James Bond theme GoldenEye, I Don’t Wanna Fight and It Takes Two, a duet with Rod Stewart.

She also starred in 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome – which featured another of her smashes, We Don’t Need Another Hero – and The Who’s 1975 rock opera Tommy as the Acid Queen.

She found happiness with her second husband, German music executive Erwin Bac. They began dating in the mid-80s, and got married in 2013.

The pair lived in Switzerland, with Turner taking Swiss citizenship. He donated one of his kidneys to her in 2017 after it was discovered she was suffering from kidney failure.

She also suffered tragedy with the loss of her eldest son Craig to suicide in 2018. His father was Turner’s former bandmate, Raymond Hill.

Another son, Ronnie, whose father was Ike Turner, died in 2022. She also had two adopted sons, Ike Jr and Michael, Ike’s children from a previous relationship.

Tina’s life story spawned a 1993 biopic titled What’s Love Got To Do With It, which earned Angela Bassett an Oscar nomination for playing the star; and a hit stage musical – aptly titled Tina: The Musical. She was also the subject of HBO documentary Tina in 2021.

In an interview with Marie Claire South Africa in 2018, Turner said: “People think my life has been tough, but I think it’s been a wonderful journey. The older you get, the more you realise it’s not what happened, it’s how you deal with it.”- BBC News
