Teen Girls Pleads For Help Over Rare Skin Disease

By A Correspondent- A Rusape family is seeking help after their 17-year-old daughter developed a rare skin disease which they claim is caused by an ‘invisible snake’ which licks her body.

Nomsa Mundende’s disease, which was previously identified as septic rush or skin disease has left her with skin which keeps peeling off, much to the shock of her parents.

Her body size has also reduced.

In an interview with H-Metro, she could not hold back her tears.

“I am in pain and my body is not responding to medical treatment as my parents have taken me to local clinics, general and private hospitals several times.

“I am now disturbed mentally because I’m not healing.

“It started as a blister before spreading all over my body.

“It’s now troubling me since my parents took me to various spiritual healers who told us that I am being tormented by a snake.

“Sometimes, I dream of being attacked by a snake in a bush.

“The same snake appears in my dreams a number of times and I keep wrestling with it.

“Various prophets have told the same story to my parents but without mentioning the owner of the snake.

“I have received different muteuro but my situation is not changing.”

She said no-one wants to play with her.

“I am now lonely and my studies are also under threat.

“I hope one day I will be well. I am kindly appealing for any assistance that can cure me.

Former Chitungwiza Mayor Beats Up Pregnant Wife

By A Correspondent- The Councillor who was described as a drunkard, violent, promiscuous and abusive man by his wife in court last week was the Mayor of Chitungwiza just four years ago.

Gift Tsverere was accused of threatening to kill Tsitsi Ndawana and destroying the couple’s property.

She was granted a protection order at the Harare Civil Court.

Tsitsi told the court that Tsverere once drew a knife and threatened to stab her to death.

She also accused him of forcing her to have unprotected sex.

“I’m six months pregnant Your Worship, but he beats me up and abuses me emotionally,” she told the court.

“I had to run away from our matrimonial home because I’m now traumatised and afraid that I might have a miscarriage.

“When I’m at work, he walks around the house naked, dropping things intentionally for the maid to pick up so that he can see her behind.

“Our son and maid are afraid of him. I’m emotionally drained right now.

“He is a Councillor in Chitungwiza and sleeps with prostitutes from Chikwanha then comes home and forces me to have unprotected sex.”

Tsverere denied the allegations and said he still loves his “beautiful” wife.

“My wife is beautiful as you can see and I love her. But all that she said are lies.

“I’m not violent like she says; these are false allegations.

“She is the one who complains that I’m not sleeping with her, saying I have many girlfriends, which is not true.”

Magistrate Mashavire ordered Gift to maintain peace and stay away from their matrimonial house in Westlea.

It’s a stunning and humiliating fall from grace for a man who, just four years ago, was the Mayor of Chitungwiza.

He even vowed to transform the town through the implementation of sound policies.

“I am aware that some of my predecessors failed to deliver on residents’ expectations for various reasons. I will not be a failure like them because I am a results-oriented person,” he said as he took the oath of office.

“From past experience, Chitungwiza has suffered due to incompetent councillors who were not able to fully understand the Urban Councils Act and other Acts, which support the operations of local authority.

“I have the necessary skills required to do the job. I understand laws governing local authorities and together with other councillors we will make necessary resolutions and ensure they are implemented.

“Chitungwiza, like any other town in Africa, is faced with rapid population growth, which is putting pressure on the few available resources,” he said.

“Many suburbs, commonly known as extensions are not serviced and have challenges of entitlement due to the difficult procedure to obtain land title.

“The improvement in infrastructure development will attract investment hence create employment and possibly make Chitungwiza a high economic zone.”

Clr Tsverere is quite well educated as he holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Practice from the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom and a Bsc Honours Degree in Development Studies from Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE).

He was the Student Representative Council president at BUSE.

However, his time as Chitungwiza Mayor was short.

He was suspended, just one month after taking the oath of office, following a High Court application challenging his rise to power.

Four months later, in February 2019, he resigned from the post.

ZEC Preliminary Delimitation Report Dismissed For Excluding Youths

A youth organisation named Zimbabwe Youth Action Platform (ZYAP) has castigated the proposed delimitation of electoral boundaries by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) citing the exclusion young in the process.

Addressing journalist in Harare Tuesday, ZYAP president Tonderai Chidawa discredited the delimitation exercise saying the exclusion of youths was a direct attack on their future.

“We raise our voices against the proposed delimitation of boundaries by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. We believe the exclusion of youths in this process is a direct attack on the future of young people for which our nation’s backbone was created and embraced. We strongly disagree with the proposed delimitation of boundaries by the Electoral Commission. This is an appeal to the leadership of this nation, to revisit the role of young people and their constituents and consider our right to express our views in the configuration of our nation’s boundaries,” said Chidawa.

He accused ZEC of deliberately ignoring the influence of youth community in electoral processes.

“The redrawing of electoral boundaries affects our ability to choose the right leaders who can better represent the interests of young people. We speak against the intentional marginalization of young people in the delimitation process, and any attempt to serve only the interests of political groups and representations while ignoring the burden that our boundaries place on the future of youths.

“The recent 2022 census has brought to light, the challenges faced by youths in this nation, and while the delimitation process must be informed by the census, the Commission has made a deliberate attempt to ignore the influence of the youth community in this process.

“The delimitation process lacked sufficient consultations, and youths will never endorse any self-interested process. We expect high levels of engagement across all the sectors of society including an understanding that young people must always be at the center of every process that define their future,” he said

Chidawa added “The configuration of boundaries without giving due respect to the importance of race, the distribution of devolution programs, peace building and national healing process, undermines the very tenets that bind our communities together. The proposed delimitation is an attempt to bury down the influence of youths in local politics. The failure of ZEC to consult the youths in this process brings a question of whether there is any transparency and accountability to the process.”

Mpofu Bedded Our Wives

POLICE in Matabeleland North have launched a manhunt for two Binga men from Lusulu who ganged up and fatally assaulted a local villager they accused of having extramarital affairs with their wives.
The two suspects who have been identified as Polite Ndlovu (24) and Justice Ndlovu (22) are said to have teamed up before storming Stephen Mpofu’s homestead in Kokoloza area, Lusulu, Binga in the wee hours on Wednesday last week.

The two broke Mpofu’s bedroom hut door while he was sleeping and attacked him. Acting provincial police spokesperson for Matabeleland North Assistant Inspector Christopher Mahohoma confirmed the incident, saying investigations are in progress.

“Police in Lusulu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Stephen Mpofu (36) who was fatally struck with logs and spear on Wednesday last week at his homestead in Kokoloza area, Lusulu, Binga,” he said.

“On that particular day at around 4AM, Mpofu was asleep in his bedroom together with his wife when they heard the two suspects shouting outside and threatening to kill Mpofu whom they accused of having extramarital affairs with their wives.”

Mpofu tried to escape, but one of the suspects intercepted him and they started attacking him using logs and a spear.

“The wife called the village head who rushed to the scene and found the two suspects still assaulting Mpofu who was lying helpless in a pool of blood.

“The village head tried to restrain the two men, but they then turned the heat on him and he ran away,” said Asst Insp Mahohoma.

After the attack, the suspects fled from the scene. Mpofu succumbed to the injuries while being taken to the clinic.

“The two suspects are still at large and we are calling on members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to inform us,” said Asst Insp Mahohoma.

Meanwhile, in a similar case, police are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of seven men linked to the ritual murder of Amion Bube (65).

Bube of Mutunda Village under Chief Siabuwa area in Binga District was found lying in a pool of blood at his homestead and his head had been skinned. The incident occurred last Wednesday at 7PM.

According to police, Bube had spent the day working in the fields together with his wife before he decided to go home at around 5PM leaving his spouse behind.

The wife later followed her husband home and upon arrival, discovered that their homestead was on fire.

She spotted five male adults whom she could not identify running away from their homestead. Upon arrival at the homestead, she noticed that her husband was lying in a pool of blood near their burning bedroom hut.

The matter was reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.

“The head of the deceased was skinned and it had two deep cuts, one on the forehead and another on the left ear. There was a blood-stained wooden axe handle beside the body,” said Asst Insp. Mahohoma.

“There were some struggle marks and five huts constructed with poles and mortar were burnt to ashes.”- state media

5 Killed In Mine Collapse

TWO illegal gold miners died while five others are feared dead after they were trapped underground when a shaft collapsed.
The accident occurred in the early hours of yesterday at Interfah Mine also known as Success Mine in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province.

Illegal miners invaded the area after news broke that rich gold deposits had been discovered.

When The Chronicle arrived at the scene yesterday, a sombre atmosphere engulfed the area with scores of gold miners from other surrounding mines gathered at Interfah Mine as they watched an excavator digging for the bodies.

By last night, two bodies had been retrieved from the shaft as rescue teams continued with their frantic efforts to reach and rescue those still trapped in the pit.

Contrary to the rowdy and rivalry behaviour synonymous with gold panners, the exhumation of the two bodies presented a spirit of brotherhood as they volunteered to carry the bodies of their departed colleagues.

“These are
our brothers, we might not know them, but by virtue of them being gold panners it means they are our brothers,” said one panner.

The mine is reportedly owned by a syndicate of three men.

A director of the mine Mr Philani Ncube said the trapped gold miners illegally entered the mine. The legal owners had not started operations as they were still in the registration stage.

“This is our mine and we had not commenced operations as we are in the process of registering. We got reports that there were people coming to illegally mine here after discovering gold deposits using detectors,” he said.

“We then engaged the police from Matopo and they deployed the riot police from their Support Unit who came and dispersed them.”

“The gold panners who were trapped in the mine shaft came at night to illegally mine and unfortunately the pit collapsed on them.”

At the time of going to press, police were still conducting investigations. Police officers who attended the scene took the two bodies to a mortuary in Bulawayo.

While the number of the miners suspected to have been working inside the pit could not be confirmed, reports say five could be still trapped inside the pit.

In October, a man died and four others survived when a mine shaft collapsed at an illegal mine in New Parklands suburb in Bulawayo. Several shafts and tunnels at other mines have collapsed, trapping miners with authorities warning people against illegal mining activities during the rainy season

The district development co-ordinator for Matobo, who is also the head of the district civil protection unit, Mr Obey Chaputsira, said they had since been informed by the police about the tragedy.

Mr Chaputsira said miners should exercise caution considering that the country is in the rainy season when more mining shafts collapse.

“Due to the rains that we are receiving, the land becomes unstable hence we encourage those in the mining sector to follow precautionary measures as directed by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development. There can be gold rushes and so forth, but miners have to adhere to safety measures. We can’t continue losing people due to unsafe mining procedures.”

Mr Chapuritsa extended his condolences to the families of the deceased miners.

In May, seven miners at Bucks Mine in Colleen Bawn plunged to their death after hoisting ropes to a skip bringing them up a 240-metre-deep shaft snapped 15 metres from the surface.

The skip they were in dragged the miners to the bottom of the shaft with first responders to the scene reportedly seeing splatters of blood on the walls of the shaft going down. Rescue workers spent over 72 hours trying to pump out water from the underground mine in order to retrieve the bodies of the miners who were trapped underwater.

Some of the retrieved bodies had been badly injured with skin peeling off due to prolonged exposure to water. Chronicle

FIFA Fines Argentina, Netherlands

FIFA has confirmed that it has opened disciplinary procedures against Argentina and the Netherlands following a series of violent incidents in their Friday’s World Cup quarterfinal final.

The game was marred by several heated exchanges, prompting the referee to show a record total of eighteen yellow cards plus a red card in a single match.

According to a FIFA statement, the Dutch are facing an investigation into the team’s behaviour, while the charges against the Argentina football federation relate to player and staff misconduct and “order and security at matches.

Team misconduct charges are routine for collecting five yellow cards in a game and disciplinary cases were opened against both Argentina and the Netherlands, FIFA said.

Both federations could get the same 15,000 Swiss francs fine ($16,000) that FIFA’s disciplinary panel imposed twice on Saudi Arabia at this World Cup for team misconduct.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Ronaldo Fails To Inspire Portugal To Victory

Morocco’s remarkable World Cup campaign has reached new heights after the Atlas Lions beat Portugal 1-0 to become the first Arab and African country to ever reach the tournament’s semi-finals stage.

Youssef En Nesyri’s soaring 42nd-minute header proved the difference for coach Walid Regragui’s side, whose resolute defensive display on Saturday capped a remarkable showing in Qatar which has now seen them play more than seven hours of football without conceding to an opposition player.

Even Walid Cheddira’s red card in the third minute of extra time could not take the shine off their against-the-odds victory, which sparked an outpouring of joy among the tens of thousands of Morocco fans packed inside the Al Thumama Stadium.

Highly fancied Portugal, who had dominated the ball throughout, proved unable to unlock their rivals’ backline despite all their possession and the summoning of record-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo from the substitutes bench shortly after half-time.

The five-time world player of the year is set to finish his career without capturing the World Cup or ever getting to the final, but his appearance off the bench did see him become the joint all-time leading appearance-maker in men’s international football with 196 caps.

Morocco, whose improbable run has generated an outpouring of pride in the Arab world during the first World Cup to be staged in the Middle East, will now face either England or France in the semi-finals on December 14.

This year’s theme, ‘access to diabetes education’, underpins the larger multi-year theme of ‘access to care’.

In the lead-up to and on 14 November, WHO will highlight not only the challenges, but more importantly the solutions, to scaling-up access to diabetes medicines and care.

WHO’s World Diabetes Day activities will cover issues ranging from championing the priorities of people living with diabetes in advocacy to the Global Diabetes Compact, which drives efforts globally to reduce the risk of diabetes and ensure access to treatment and care.

GRANT FOUND IN THE CEILING: What We Can All Learn From It

What We Can Learn From The Mahlahla Case Of Mental Illness
By Brilliant Pongo | I have followed the sad story of the Mahlahla family from a distance and observed with sadness how most Zimbabweans ridicule issues of mental illness.

Our obsession with making fun and joking about serious issues does not help, that compounded by gossip and trying to make every story juicy only serves to entrench the stereotypes around cause of mental illness and only convolutes our grasp and understanding of what otherwise, would be simple issues.

Stigmatization of mental illness isn’t something new. Marginalization of people with mental illness has been going on for years in Zimbabwe. What makes it worse is how we focus on trying to fix mental illnesses by spiritual means as opposed to medical interventions.

Many Zimbabweans hold strong beliefs about the causes of mental illness, such as demonic possession, magic, the wrath of a deity or moral punishment. Such beliefs provoke reactions of fear, mistrust, and discrimination.

Is it any wonder therefore that Zimbabweans went into overdrive with lurid and cruel comments on social media following the sad story of the Mahlahla family from Chitungwiza.

Support not ridicule
When someone has a physical illness like cancer, diabetes or even a broken leg, we rally around them and offer support. And rightly so. Research has shown that having a strong support network can promote resilience and help people manage stress during difficult times.

So why is it that when someone is struggling with mental illness, from the mildest to the most severe forms, rather than offering support, we throw out comments like “the mother knows what she did,” “Just throw her in jail she is evil,” or “A lot of people have it worse than you”? This glossing over real mental health issues can be emotionally damaging and can do much more harm than good.

The Mahlahla family particularly Mrs Mahlahla and her son Grant need help not the ridiculing and criminalisation that they are now faced with.

A more compassionate and reasoned approach to this case would be more appropriate.

Mrs Mahlahla seems to me like a person that has for long been ostracized and viewed as an evil person not only by her immediate neighbours, but relatives as well. From the comments made by those in her neighbourhood, one can see why she would be wary of all people, relatives, in-laws, and neighbours.

Her association with an Apostolic church it seems only made her more peculiar and most likely compounded her situation.

A difficult life
She had a mentally unwell son, her husband very unwell and wheelchair bound after suffering a stroke. Her other son is said to have died. Unfortunately, in a society like our own in Zimbabwe such tragedies attract gossip and stigma as one is labelled a witch and all sorts.

No doubt Mrs Mahlahla’s live must have been difficult never mind her reclusive character.

Nonetheless, it is important to try and understand this story from an objective angle without getting caught up in the drama and gossip that some people on social media platforms have been churning up.

From the presentation thus far, without seeking facts one would think she kept a decomposing corpse in her house and kept her mentally ill son in the ceiling in her house.

But when one seeks for the facts and timeline of events objectively. It soon becomes apparent that Mrs Mahlahla was away at a church meeting (sowe) for a week.

The locksmith’s account
Sadly, her husband died whilst she was away. Indeed, many will ask why she left him without a competent care-giver, but her mentally ill son?

But then again don’t know and can only assume that perhaps the church meetings or prayer sessions (sowe) were her way of getting relief and a break.

She came back to find that her mentally unwell son (Grant) had locked her out of the house. She had to call for a local locksmith to help her regain access to her house.

Based on the account of the locksmith, which in my view shades-unadulterated-information that helps us to understand this story.

Upon gaining access to the house several objects had been strategically placed from the inside to block anyone trying to enter. The assumption is that this was done by Grant.

Clearly there is no way Mrs Mahlahla could have done this herself. The locksmith reports that on opening the bedroom door Mrs Mahlahla was shocked at finding her husband had died.

The locksmith further states that Mrs Mahlahla immediately enquires about her son.

He had a room
Contrary to the sensationalized claims that her son Grant lived in the ceiling. Grant had his own room. He apparently went up into the ceiling to hide either when his mother came back with the locksmiths or when police came.

The close relatives to the husband who were allowed in on the few occasions have confirmed that Grant had his own room.

The way in which the Mahlahla story has been reported/covered by the media and how it has been told on social media platforms is a cause for concern.

Indeed, our attitudes towards mental illness must change as a nation and A’s communities within society in our country (Zimbabwe).

The Mahlahla case must serve as an opportunity for us as a people and country to reflect on the ways in which we can contribute to our understanding of mental health and address the general wellbeing of people in communities nationally. To this end, health workers, community leaders at all levels local government to central government must participate in a drive to address Mental Health Care in a Public Health Context and provide professional development to promote mental health and best practice in the Zimbabwean context. With focus given to addressing stigma in particular.

We must stop stigmatization
Indeed, stigma takes many forms in communities in Zimbabwe. Often involving extreme prejudice and discrimination. Within more traditional/spiritual communities, these may relate to the perceived reason the person has difficulties, the influence of forces beyond that person’s influence, such as being vulnerable to the intentions of others who may wield supernatural powers, and in some instances, to witchcraft.

People with mental illness suffer from the effects of their condition. However, their suffering is made much worse. Through the attitudes and prejudices of people around them and the larger community. Where the community stigmatizes their suffering and extends their prejudice to not only the person who is suffering but such prejudice may be extended to the whole family.

We must learn lessons from this Mahlahla case and come out a better people.

Corpse Of Suspected Murderer Discovered Hanging Inside Church

By A Correspondent- The body of a suspected murderer was found hanging in a local church in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.

A police statement seen by Pindula News says the deceased, Judge Evans Zinzombe, was a wanted person in connection with the murder of his estranged wife on 7 December 2022.

Reads the statement by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP):

The ZRP reports that Judge Evans Zinzombe (36) who was being sought in connection with the callous murder of his estranged wife, Phelomina Mabika (32) which occurred on 07/12/2022 at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, has committed suicide. His body was found hanging from a metal roof truss at a local church in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.

It is alleged that Zinzombe killed his estranged wife in cold blood on Wednesday and went on to sexually abuse her corpse in full view of the couple’s two minor children.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Zinzobe allegedly sneaked into the room where Phelomina Mabika (32), their daughter (12) and a son (7) were before strangling her to death with hands.

He and his wife were reportedly having marital disputes which forced them to sleep in separate rooms.

After killing her, Zinzombe allegedly went on to sexually abuse the body in full view of his children.

The children spent the whole night with the body before a police report was made in the morning.

The incident happened just as the nation was observing 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence.

Chamisa Declared CCC Sole 2023 Presidential Candidate

By- The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party will soon be declaring its leader Nelson Chamisa the sole presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba told The Standard that they are ready to launch the party “soon” with Chamisa as its leader. He said:

Chamisa unveiled the CCC in January this year after his rival, Douglas Mwonzora, who leads MDC-T grabbed the MDC Alliance party, including its symbols and emblems from him.

Since its unveiling, on 24 January 2022, CCC is yet to come up with a constitution and official structures.

We are ready to launch CCC very soon. Chamisa is qualitatively and quantitatively the most popular, most loved, and most preferred leader.

President Chamisa is by far the preferred choice in options for the next president.

We held our meeting last week in Harare with all the point persons from all over the country, our change champions from all over the country working in the community to inform the people on our path to launch the movement.

We met to get reports on voters’ roll, delimitation and voter registration in the countryside preparedness. There’s excitement in the rank and file.

The launch will be a confirmation beyond any doubt that we are new in form, character and strategy.

Political analyst Vivid Gwede said it was “logical” for Chamisa to stand as the presidential candidate as the founding CCC leader.

He said Chamisa was objectively “popular as confirmed by the 2018 elections and the recent Afrobarometer survey.”

However, another political commentator, Eldred Masunungure, who is a University of Zimbabwe political science lecturer, said that if CCC endorses Chamisa uncontested, it will be against the principles of democracy. He said:

Political party leaders do not want to take the risk of being booted out.

Going to an election uncontested internally is a risk-prevention strategy.

But it points to the shrinkage of democracy. It raises issues of transparency and democratic credentials.

To barricade a leader against the democratic choices of supporters is against the principles of democracy as members should have the freedom to choose the leaders they want.

Tagwirei Left Scotfree As Govt Penalises 12 Dealers

Over 12 fuel companies have been penalised by government as the controversial Kudakwashe Tagwirei’s Sakunda Holdings was let off.

Kudakwashe Tagwirei

In 2016, APR, a US company won the Dema project through a proper tender system, and on the last minute the tender was reversed and awarded to Sakunda Holdings which is owned by Kudakwashe Tagwirei. The deal was worth USD1.2 Billion United States Dollars. The whole nation failed to come to terms with what led to the cancellation of the APR tender which was properly constituted by the tender board. In other words, the Dema project was controversially awarded to Tagwirei through his Sakunda Holdings subsidiary. Today, as we speak there is nothing at Dema project to show that GBP1.2 Billion was used including all the purchased generators and contractors, all the money went into the drainage, and they pocketed the GBP1.2 Billion, writes analyst Eric Muzamindo.

Th Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has withdrawn licences of errant petroleum dealers while some service stations were fined for mixing fuel with water, the regulator’s 2021 annual report shows.

Zera said it conducted nationwide fuel quality monitoring activities in 2021 covering 592 sites from which 860 fuel samples were collected and tested, with 12 failing to meet standards.

Four blend samples and 8 diesel samples failed to meet specifications resulting in the prosecution of the retail sites in the year. The offending sites paid fines ranging from $20 000 to $200 000 and one of the retail sites had their licence cancelled,” Zera said.

Zera said there was a 34% increase in fuel sites visited for quality monitoring in 2021 compared to 2020.

Twelve retail sites were caught with fuel contaminated with water compared to three cases in 2020.

Of the 12 cases recorded in 2021, seven retail sites had low flash point diesel while three retail sites had low density petrol and two sites had water contamination.

“The authority received complaints from motorists concerning suspected fuel quality from 10 service stations. Investigations confirmed that one customer had received water-contaminated blend from a retail site, which has since been prosecuted,” Zera said.

“Three of the complaints were received out of time for Zera to take relevant samples for testing. Zera is stepping up consumer awareness of the authority’s quality testing services and is emphasizing the need for consumers to make prompt reports to enable timeous sampling of fuel batches in the investigations,” Zera said.

On the electricity side, Zera said distribution code compliance audits conducted in the year under review found that power utility Zesa was unable to connect customers within 21 business days largely due to lack of operational vehicles. Newsday

Chipanga Now A Doctor

He’s now Doctor Chipanga. The maverick musician is on cloud nine after he was recently conferred with an honourary PHD in Philosophy from Trinity International Bible University.
Even in glory, veteran musician, however, never ceases to amaze his followers and critics through controversy.

Hosiah Chipanga

He said the conferment was “madness that was honoured”.

Speaking to The Weekender Entertainment this week, the aging wordsmith, said society has never taken him seriously and believes the honour will change people’s mindsets about him and his philosophies.

“I really feel accommodated. It is like I am being welcomed from the wilderness which has been my home with only very few people or none taking me seriously. Now that the madness has been honoured, I believe many sober senses will now give me the room I deserve in their hearts,” said Chipanga.

The Year 2022 has been a fruitful year for the Kwachu Kwachu hit-maker after some of his ultimate dreams came to fruition, chief among them meeting President Mnangagwa recently.

1 000 Robbers Imprisoned

Close to 1 000 robbers were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for periods ranging from 6 months to 60 years during the first 10 months of the year, as the clampdown on rising cases of violent crimes intensified.
Zimbabwe has recorded an upsurge in violent crimes, including robbery, in recent years, prompting police to set up a specialised taskforce to deal with rising violent criminal activity.

Police recorded over 19 000 cases of robbery between January 2020 and December 2021, with data from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency showing that there were 9 364 cases of robbery (931 armed) in 2020, while 9 515 similar cases (1 120 armed) were recorded the following year.

As part of an inter-agency strategy to suppress robberies, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on its part, has adopted a policy of vigorously opposing bail applications in all robbery cases before the courts.

Prosecutors have also undergone specialised training this year to enhance their criminal prosecution skills during court proceedings, while the prosecution of all robbery cases is being expedited to ensure trials are not long drawn, a development that could possibly lead to accused persons being granted bail.

In an interview, NPA spokesperson Ms Angeline Munyeriwa said prosecutors have adopted a tough stance towards robbers.

“The prevalence of robbery cases is a cause for concern,” she said.

“The NPA is vigorously opposing bail in all robbery cases and where investigations are complete, the NPA is expediting the trials.

“Nine hundred and thirty people were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for robbery across the country for the period January 1 to October 30, 2022.

“Every robbery conviction attracts a prison term and where a weapon has been used to inflict harm or threaten the victims, the NPA advocates a very stiff penalty to deter would-be offenders.”

In August, President Mnangagwa decreed a firearms amnesty granting clemency for voluntary surrender of unregistered firearms and ammunition to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) by September 30.

Police recovered 538 unregistered firearms and 260 rounds of ammunition during the two-month window.

It was believed the firearms were being used to commit violent crimes, including armed robbery.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said specialised crack teams to deal with robbers have been set up countrywide.

“We are very serious about fighting robbery and we have crack teams throughout the country that have made a number of arrests, compiled dockets and forwarded them to NPA for prosecution,” he said.

“We have also made a number of recoveries of the loot which includes cash, vehicles and even properties.

“There are people who, soon after committing robbery, go on to buy properties and even pay lobola using the proceeds.

“Our teams are always on alert of such issues and we are working with other agencies to ensure that we bring down these cases of robbery.”

Recently, a gang of armed robbers pounced on ABC Auctions offices on Seke Road in Harare and took off with cash and valuables worth US$1,4 million.

In a separate incident, armed robbers pounced on a vehicle transporting gold from How Mine and stole 12 kilogrammes of the precious metal.

Meanwhile, the NPA secured asset forfeiture orders to recover property valued at over US$5 million believed to have been procured through proceeds of crime.

“This year alone, we have so far obtained forfeiture orders worth US$5,6 million and currently there are pending matters before the courts involving properties worth US$20 million,” said Mrs Munyeriwa.

“Total value of assets forfeited through the courts is US$5,6 million, while there are six seizure orders valued at US$6 million pending further investigations.

“There are three interdict orders pending further investigations worth US$3,7 million.” -Sunday Mail

Mnangagwa’s Dull Incompetence Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has blamed Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s dysfunctional administration for the power crisis in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe has been hit by massive load shedding with the country’s towns and cities experiencing a frustrating 22- hr power outage daily.

According to President Chamisa, the load shedding is a result of a dysfunctional government.

See President Chamida’s full statement on the power crisis in the country…

NOTHING WORKS..Zimbabwe is without basics in water, power, communication, health & education because of a dysfunctional government. Food &jobs are elusive. It’s leadership stupid! Remember; not voting is a vote for darkness and hardships.#RegisterToVote

The CCC is the next Govt & remains the only credible and viable alternative that will win Zimbabwe for change & usher in a new Great Zimbabwe. The citizens want & deserve new, ethical leaders in Govt & Parliament led by Adv @nelsonchamisa.

OUR NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE ENERGY PLAN
Zimbabwe currently has a national electrification rate of 42%. While electricity has reached 83% of the urban households, rural electrification is still around 13% as per the National Energy Policy of 2012 (as per last updated stats)

Our estimated electricity demand is 2300 MW against actual generation of below 1100 MW. The current output of 1100 MW is not sufficient to guarantee support for a rapid economic growth programme.

The supplies are fraught with persistent outages. In addition, there are significant electricity losses as a consequence of aged and inefficient transmission and distribution networks.

The country has an installed capacity of about 2,300 MW, with Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), a generation subsidiary of ZESA, owning around 95% of this. More than 50% of electricity is generated from hydropower power while the remainder is from thermal power plants.

Bagasse, mini hydropower and small sized grid connected solar systems have an installed capacity of a paltry figure of less than 150MW. Against this background, the actual power generation capacity in 2022 averaged below 1100MW against a peak demand of about 1800MW

The limited generation capacity is attributed to human capital capacity &quality of mgmt due to corruption & cronyism at our utilities, poor financing, water wastage &availability at Kariba, old equipment which needs rehabilitation &limited coal availability &clean energy issues.

A New Great Zimbabwe economy needs to be driven by clean, and sustainable energy sources that will achieve net-zero by 2050 &also ensure a decarbonised economy. The Citizens gvt will expand installed generation to at least 4,2 mw by 2029 which we estimate will cost $4.33 billion

Current energy policies overlook the need for improving the share of renewable energy in the overall energy mix. It’s just not prudent to use a hydropower station like Kariba which was designed mainly for peaking power, as a base load power station.

Zimbabwe should focus on driving cost-effective implementation of sustainable energy sources, social upliftment through community involvement, gender equality and employment generation.

The renewable energy sector in Zimbabwe should consist of solar, hydro, wind, geothermal and biomass (which includes bagasse (sugarcane based), biogas, forestry and sawmill waste) all of which have barely been fully exploited.

Zimbabwe has vast renewable energy resources that are presently underutilised. Our Citizens’ Government will prioritise a clean energy investment that will make power shortages, load shedding and the current dark age a thing of the past

We will lead in the setting of targets for renewable energy based on the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) interventions submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

demand-supply scenario, grid absorption capacity, and the economic viability of our utilities to pay for renewable energy electricity from independent power producers (IPPs).

We will promote sustainable Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) for small hydropower, biomass, and geothermal projects as well as corruption free competitive bidding for solar photovoltaics (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP), wind and other renewable energy sources.

Off-grid energy will be promoted and incentivised to make them a viable option for our Citizens government 100% electrification of Zimbabwe by 2035.

We will address the socio-economic areas in our energy policies to include affordability &accessibility of energy from renewable sources, employnt opportunities, diversity & inclusion especially gender equity, and food security, and improved access to basic facilities.

Our FIVE POINT PLAN for Energy is informed by the suffering of our citizens due to the lack of sufficient energy to carry on with our economic activities. We plan .

to pursue sustainable energy for all and to mobilize action from all sectors of society in support of

three interlinked objectives to be achieved by 2027: providing universal access to modern energy services; doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix in Zimbabwe .
to expand generation by modernising our existing power plants through life extension technologies that are smart and green by 2027.

to build an energy efficiency revolution that creates an energy surplus by encouraging demand side management, energy efficiency and optimal use of our water resources in our hydropower generation systems dispatch and operations

to provide enough project financing and investment for power generation, transmission , distribution and supply systems with an emphasis on rural development and urbanization as well as install ethical, competent and professional human capital to run our utilities

to source through the private sector the sum of USD 300 million dollars that is required to modernise our grid. Zimbabwe’s transmission infrastructure is archaic. We will allow private players in the form of independent
power producers (IPPs)

We will implement sustainable energy development based on scientific &engineering studies that will continuously launch projects for solar power, energy Internet, carbon Capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS), nuclear, energy storage, hydrogen &total electrification of our country

Decades of lack of investment in energy infrastructure, visionary leadership, planning and corruption now haunting us. Averting a problem is always cheaper than treating it. We have the answers!

We will make Our ZIMBABWE New and Great! We’re ready. #RegisterToVoteZW

Brazil Out Of World Cup 2022

Croatia beat Brazil 4-2 on penalties on Friday to set up a World Cup semi-final against Argentina or the Netherlands.

The match finished 1-1 after extra time, with Bruno Petkovic canceling out Neymar’s brilliant solo opener, which saw him equal Pelé’s record as highest goalscorer in the country’s history, with 77 goals.

Brazil’s Rodrygo and Marquinhos both missed their penalties, dooming their team’s effort to reach the next round.

Croatia’s goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic put in a heroic performance, making eleven saves throughout the match and stopping one penalty in the shoot-out. He saved the attempt from Rodrygo, and Marquinhos later hit the post.

The match had finished 1-1 after extra time, with both goals coming in the additional 30 minutes. Neymar scored late in the first half of extra time to give Brazil the lead, but Croatia equalized when Bruno Petkovic scored in the 117th.

Five of Croatia’s last six matches at World Cups have gone to extra time, including in its penalty shootout win over Japan in the round of 16 in Qatar. The team has been successful in eight of its last 10 knockout matches at the tournament.

Mavaza: Job Sikhala Safe in Hands of Law

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabwe is once again under attack from the CCC and its sympathisers. The past week CCC has dispatched its high profile leaders to mislead the world on the Job Sikhala issue and the situation in Zimbabwe.
The statement below shows the level of defamation and damages being done on Zimbabwe’s situation. Zimbabwe needs a break from these evil doers.
“The Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales (“BHRC”) expresses grave concern about the deteriorating human rights situation in Zimbabwe. BHRC are particularly concerned by a number of reports of the arrest, detention and intimidation of opposition party activists, lawyers and journalists. Further, there appears to be a clear pattern of systematic and targeted attempts to intimidate lawyers representing those individuals who oppose the ruling party in the country, ZANU-PF. The following recent reports are of particular concern:”
This is what is being flighted all over the Western world. Zimbabwe is being portrayed as a war zone. To my surprise the respected but malicious Lord Oates has portrayed the Zimbabwean situation as worse than Ukraine. This puts Zimbabwe in a bad picture and someone has to tell the truth about Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is in the moment of grave crisis, when violent and fanatical men are attempting to destroy the unity peace and freedom of Zimbabwe. One aspect of that crisis is the threat which has been made on the lives of many Zimbabweans through continuation of sanctions and further restrictive measures. These are matters of utmost gravity and the government must deal with these matters.

What is being said about freedom of expression and choice in Zimbabwe has happened elsewhere in the world and it was dealt with sternly. Zimbabweans have always been the ones shooting themselves in the foot and demand to run. We have always believed that we are an independent state and we are all patriotic.
Our revulsion to such accusations does not look naive. It is understandable that Zimbabwe has to apply the rule of law and if we do not apply the law we can only doubly shock ourselves. It must be understood that it is the arm of the state which is called the Judiciary, which is seized with and have decided to deny bail. It is not the arm of the state called the government, which is making judicial decisions.
Western governments, agents and press pretend, when it comes to Zimbabwe that they are ignorant of the operation of various arms of the state. They instruct Zimbabwe to ignore the rule of law. They make statements on pending cases but can not do the same in their own backyard.
We are shocked by the allegations of abuse of power because democracy flourishes in Zimbabwe freedom was fought for in Zimbabwe the freedom which is being misrepresented was watered by the blood of our children, our brothers and our sisters and our parents. Because of the sacrifices done by those who have died and those who have survived but lost everything liberty is cherished in Zimbabwe.
We must take a leaf from the legal issues happening in Scotland. The Scottish people are demanding independence from the United Kingdom. This month the highest court in Scotland decided that the Scottish Parliment cannot legislate for Scottish independence. No one is blaming that court decision on Westminister. Everyone understand that it is a judiciary function to make. Why is Zimbabwe goverment treated as if it makes judicial decisions?
Notwithstanding these conditions and mostly because of them it has now been demonstrated to us by a few misguided persons just how fragile a democratic and tolerant society can be, if democracy is not prepared to defend itself and just how vulnerable our democracy is our compassionate people will suffer because of few selfish power hungry people.
Zimbabwe is being attacked by the West on the instigation of the CCC it is being told that if Job Sikhala is not released and if the other criminals are not acquitted Zimbabwe will be made to suffer.
Sanctions hurt the poor. They squeeze the economy of its capacity to support social infrustucture, including for schools, roads, hospitals and transport.
CCC calls for sufforcating sanctions on the economy and then turn around and say Zimbabweans are suffering under Zanu PF rule.
The CCC claims that they are acting like that to draw attention to instances of social injustice. How ironic. Every Zimbabwean should ask this question whose attention are you seeking to attract?
The government of Zimbabwe is well aware of the deep existing social and economic problems. This is is the situation in every country in the world. Every country to the limit of its resources and ability is deeply committed to its solution. But not by urging other countries to make our country suffer.
If any doubt exists about the good faith or ability of our government there are elections to change and elect a new government. There is available in Zimbabwe an effective mechanism to change governments by peaceful means it is that principle of one man one vote that ZANU PF fought for. It has been employed by Zimbabwean voters again and again and the best party has always been re-elected again and again.
Who are the political prisoners in Zimbabwe. People have complained about prisoners. The purpose of those who complained is to exploit the normal human feelings of Zimbabweans and to bend those feelings of sympathy into instruments of their own violent and revolutionary ends.
We must all know that freedoms and personal security are safeguarded by laws and those laws must be respected.
What are the CCC asking the West to demand of Zimbabwe in return of lives of millions of Zimbabweans trapped in illegal sanctions. They are demanding the release of a suspect in forty seven counts of inciting violence, murder, and political violence. Ironically the perpetrators of political violence are the ones crying foul.
For the criminal they want their grievances aired by force in public on the assumption, no doubt, that all right thinking persons would be persuaded that the problems of the world can be solved by lies and insults.
CCC is even demanding more. They are demanding that the Police be disbanded and we be policed by the British police or any Western police. This is all because their criminal friends have been arrested.
They have taken the forty thousand each for their luxury. This money is taken from the coffers of the same treasury they are undermining and sabotaging.
They demand the dropping charges of all criminals who are being charged of arson murder and several crimes all of whom they refer as political prisoners.
Who are these people who are held out as patriots and martyrs? These are convicted murders, arsonists some are facing such crimes.
The world is being asked to believe that these criminals have been unjustly dealt with that they have been detained as a result of their political opinions, and that they deserve to be freed immediately without recourse to due process of law.

The responsibility of deciding whether to release one or other of these criminals is that of the courts of laws. It is a responsibility the courts will discharge according to law. To bow to the pressure of these evil people who demand that Job Sikhala be released would be not only an abdication of responsibility, it would lead to an increase in terrorists activities by these CCC. It will be as well an invitation to terrorism and murder in our peaceful country. We might well find ourselves facing an endless series of demands for the release of criminals from jails across the country. Should government give in to this crude blackmail we would be facing the breakdown of the legal system and its replacement by the laws of fear and jungle. The Zimbabwe’s decision to prevent this from happening is not taken just to defend an important principle, it is taken to protect the lives of citizens from dangers of criminals.
Freedom and personal security are safeguarded by laws those laws must be respected in order to be effective. Only the most twisted form of logic could conclude otherwise.
If a democratic Zimbabwe is to continue to exist we must be able to root out the cancer of an opposition that is bent on destroying the very basis of our freedom.
The Zimbabwean laws must be able to permit the full weight of the law to be brought quickly to bear on all those people advocating for sanctions or practising violence as a means of achieving political ends.
Zimbabwe must deal effectively with the nebulous yet dangerous challenge to society ppperpetrated by the ccc.

Messi Blasts Referee

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has criticised referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz, claiming that the official should not have officiated their 2022 FIFA World Cup quaterfinal clash against Netherlands.

Argentina won the match 4-3 on penalties after it had ended 2-2 at the end of extra time following a late brace from Dutch substitute Wout Weghorst.

Messi, who he created the South Americans’ opening goal before scoring their second and burying his penalty in the shoot-out, was left frustrated with the referee after a number of brawls involving both teams marred the closing minutes at Lusail Stadium.

Mateu Lahoz showed 16 yellow cards in total, with Netherlands wing-back Denzel Dumfries sent off after the penalty shootout for a second booking.

Speaking after the game, the 35-year-old said: “I don’t want to talk about the referee, because they immediately reprimand you or sanction you, but I think people saw what happened.

“Fifa has to review that, it can’t give a referee like that a match of this importance, when they’re not up to the task.

“We didn’t have a great game, and then the referee sent it to extra time. He was always against us. In the last play, it was not a foul.”

He added: “We suffered too much because of how everything happened, but it is the quarterfinals of a World Cup.

“We knew how to suffer when it was our turn, but we got through to the semifinals. It’s beautiful, something impressive.”

Argentina will play Croatia in the semifinals on Tuesday at 9 pm CAT.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

President Chamisa Exposes Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Dull Incompetence

Facts About Diabetes

World Diabetes Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes as a global public health issue and what needs to be done, collectively and individually, for better prevention, diagnosis and management of the condition.

Susan Mutami Resurfaces, Vanishes

Susan Mutami – file

By A Correspondent | Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of the controversial self styled whistle-blower, Susan Mutami following an eletric period of exposing ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa and rallying the public around that cause, between June and August 2022. Mutami is now nowhere to be seen. Since the period of the United Nations she went off social media and off friends.

So what really happened to the whistleblower who could have easily helped to lift the plight of abused minors? ZimEye searches around all over Brisbane, among friends, family, and even on the Twitter website that became her attack base against people like Marry Mubaiwa who ended up being amputated following Mutami’s false allegations, Susan still cannot be found.

ZimEye checks with Susan’s mother, Rebecca Mutami, whose phone is switched off soon after picking up the journalist’s voice. Soon after that call, the mum’s Facebook posting stops completely for months running into December, not a single dot can be seen.

ZimEye turns to Susan’s young sister, the 20 year old Kundai, whose phone is swiftly switched off soon after the ZimEye journalist has introduced himself.

“How are you Kundai? I am looking for Susan,” our reporter asks, to which she replies by demanding to know,

“Who is calling?”

The call is terminated upon announcement of ZimEye.

Afterwards, another local Australian Correspondent tasked by ZimEye tries her luck, only to report back saying that the phones are ringing but none of the two, (mother and young sister) are picking up.

So was Susan Mutami killed? If anything happened to her at least her brother, still to be contacted, would have notified the world, a source tells ZimEye.

To somewhat confirm this, an intelligence agent provides possibly the clearest detail on Susan Mutami’s whereabouts. “The last time I spoke with her she told me that she is now changing her number because she has to avoid people,” they tell ZimEye. ZimEye was still to be given Susan’s “new phone numbers,” at the time of writing as promised.

So what really happened to this whistleblower who also says she is an anti terorism expert and who was going to make announcements at the UN General Assembly in September exposing her former boss and one time “boyfriend”?

Something happened to her which is more than money, a state agent tells ZimEye. The whole sequel begins in 2020, when Mutami got pregnant twice in a year to 2 different men, amid a long string of others in the same 12 month period.

She would also in the same year threaten to ‘rape’ Simba Chikanza’s own father (94) during interviews.

The below is a trail of event twists that involved high profile ministers caught between two scandals, one on the sale of stands, and one of trappings using Susan who was self proclaiming to be an anti-terrorism expert.

It was all triggered when earlier in the year, the Special Anti Corruption Unit head, Thabani Mpofu was close to arresting Local Govt Minister, July Moyo over the alleged sale of stands in Harare, Kwekwe and Gweru for his own benefit.

There were several beneficiaries listed on this reported scandal who are in the ministry of Justice; so to hide this, a quick plan was hatched to get Mpofu fired.

Owen Ncube

Mpofu, who leads the controversial taskforce, was swiftly accused of authoring letters for MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti advising the opposition icon on ways of navigating through the justice system.

Close sources allege that, when this was about to happen, the Norton MP Temba Mliswa went over to president, Emmerson Mnangagwa to advise him to ignore the calls to fire Mpofu; doing this in order to settle scores with the enemy of an enemy (Mliswa had heard that Thabani Mpofu had been set up by July Moyo, Owen Ncube, and Virginia Mabhiza). Mliswa has had several bones to chew with Thabani Mpofu. Mliswa reasoned with Mnangagwa saying: how could Thabani Mpofu author letters for MDC Deputy President Tendai Biti in this age and time when he could simply pick a phone call.

Parallel to all this, Temba Mliswa was the subject of an ongoing probe in which he was entangled with ex girlfriend, Susan.

Facts became clear mid February that, Susan Mutami, the centre of the axis, was used to incriminate Mliswa.

Mutami is an enigma. She claims she bedded the late SB Moyo, Killer Zivhu, Temba Mliswa. She even openly  announces saying she has bedded Emmerson Mnangagwa.

She says she has Mliswa’s twins, while at the same time naming her son after his arch enemy, Owen Ncube.

5 LOVERS, 2 PREGNANCIES TO 2 DIFFERENT MEN, ALL IN ONE YEAR

In 2020 alone, she dated at least four High profile men who include the Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo, one after the other:

Susan Mutami’s 2021 June profile picture – source: Susan Mutami, Twitter.com

Polite Kambamura, the Mining Deputy Minister (they were engaged). Walter Chikwana, Secretary for the Judicial Commission (they had a civil partnership in 2020), and ZANU PF MP, Hon Kenneth Musanhi (see pictures).

Furthermore, an affidavit seen by ZimEye states in addition that she was already pregnant way before bedding Mliswa in 2020

The affidavit, certified by the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), shows that as at around March 2020, she was still engaged to another man, who works inside the JSC, Mr Walter Chikwana.

The man was reached for a comment but wouldn’t speak or respond to questions.

The affidavit states that Mutami was carrying a pregnancy to another man at the end of March 2020. In the affidavit, her boyfriend, Mr Chikwana says:

+

‘ I am Susan Vivian Mutami’s partner and in case of emergency I can be contacted on the above mentioned address or on my mobile number, +263772***********”

He then goes on to say he is the legal guardian of SB Moyo’s Child (full name redacted-in accordance with the Children’s Act on the paper).

” I am also the legal guardian of (name withheld), and our unborn child as of date. Attached hereto is a copy of my identification.”

The affidavit was signed on the 24th March 2020.

Affidavit

The development puts burden on Mutami to explain the timing drama surrounding her two pregnancies (to different men) which are within months of each other.

She also says that she is the holder of two Australian degrees of which she has none, and also makes false claims that she is the winner of Australia’s CEO awards. During interviews with Mutami, ZimEye reveals how that her claims to university courses are baseless.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW

Susan Mutami

She is also put to task on her CEO Awards claim, and it is revealed that she was only a passerby at the function who posed in front of a camera holding someone else’s award. (SEE RGM INTERVIEW BELOW)

Her ex lover, Mliswa has maintained his allegations that he was set up by the Central Intelligence Organisation in order to incriminate him using Susan Mutami.

By this time, he has been arrested and charged for violating COVID regulations while holding a press conference to address her allegations against him.

After all this, she is stopped while trying to leave the country, and then she is put under the custody of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
Mutami is held for possessing details on the attempted assassination of the president and killing of three aides at the White City Stadium, then she is whisked out by two powerful ministers who have close links to the president, July Moyo (local governments), Owen Mudha Ncube, minister of state security. After being whisked out without knowledge of the mother body of the CIO, she then starts to attack to the Director General of the CIO, who she claims she once dated, then threatening to release secret information on the cabinet, Politburo and a number of other official secrets, while on the same tweet, absolving the two ministers, July Moyo and Owen Mudha Ncube.

At this time, July Moyo is under investigations for parceling out land, a case being probed by Thabani Mpofu’s SACU organisation.

July Moyo is very close to permanent Secretary Mrs Virginia Mabhiza and Kumbirai Hodzi, the prosecutor General. At the same time, Thabani Mpofu’s SACU is having clashes with the Prosecutor General. There was a collusion between the Prosecutor Gen and July Moyo to get Thabani Mpofu fired. The PG and July Moyo then approached the president Emmerson Mnangagwa to pass allegations that Thabani Mpofu has advised Biti.

The event trail is as follows:

Thabani Mpofu is accused of writing WhatsApp letters to MDC Alliance MP Tendai Biti giving him advice on how to return to parliament, and this makes the president very angry. At this time, Mnangagwa has also been told by Perm Sec Virginia Mabhiza, and Prosecutor Gen Kumbirai Hodzi, to ignore the request to arrest Minister July Moyo on land fraud.

Mnangagwa then summons Thabani Mpofu to State House where he is dressed down. It is reported that Mpofu has been fired. ZimEye contacts Mpofu who tells this news network, it’s not true at all. Are you my employer?, Mpofu fires a question while answering to the report.

Soon afterwards, Temba Mliswa who is naturally against Mpofu, comes to the rescue of Mpofu to tell the President that Mpofu has been set up. Thabani Mpofu also gets support of the CIO DG Isaac Moyo. This angers July Moyo who together with Owen Ncube sponsor Susan Mutami to tweet ‘some dirt’ on Isaac Moyo while absolving July Moyo and Owen Ncube publicly, on the Twitter website.

State security sources report saying Mutami was whisked out of Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border post. ZimEye requests paperwork to confirm that the escape was truly through that border post. No date is provided, but by end of April 2021, she is now safely in Australia.

Both Owen Ncube and July Moyo are contacted for a comment, and their phones are put down soon after hearing the interview questions.

Responding to the state security reports, Mliswa denies ever approaching Mnangagwa to assist Mpofu. He tells ZimEye: “Mpofu, Matanga, Mudha, July Moto, and Ziyambi Ziyambi are all one and the same, working hand-in-hand.”

It surfaces that Mutami is an agent of July Moyo and his team to settle their matters with Director General, Isaac Moyo. Thabani Mpofu then suddenly comes out the victim of the two warning camps.

By this time, the development has raised questions on how safe Zimbabweans are when ministers and two officials are using a woman to settle their personal scores. Is Zimbabwe is being run by people controlled by bottom power, or is it that Susan Mutami has some ability to capture all these people, or she is so dazzling to control the nation’s top government officials?

The following year 2022, at a time when there are many questions still to be answered by Susan such as: where is the proof of your degrees in counter terrorism? Where are Mliswa twins you said you gave birth?, Why do you seem skipping from one high profile man to the other?, where is the proof of your nursing degree? Why on earth did you threaten to rape Simba Chikanza’s father?, Where is the proof that you are a famous person who won the Australian CEO awards?, Susan Mutami bounces out to announce that she was raped by Emmerson Mnangagwa.

During her tweets, she also accuses the mother of 5, Marry Chiwenga, saying she (contrary to clear video evidence) attempted to kill her husband the Vice President, allegations that would get Marry amputated after being denied her passport for a medical travels.

She also accuses her former lover, Mliswa of raping a minor who eventually died from an abortion.

On her widely attended Twitter space, Susan Mutami accuses journalists who have asked her these pertinent questions of being state agents, going to the point of claiming Simba Chikanza whose father she threatened to assault,
was paid by the military intelligence.

She then promises to fly to the UN General Assembly to expose Mnangagwa and connect with the masses over her allegations.

The whole nation starts to expect her to dress down the 80 year old ZANU PF leader in front of the world. ZimEye maintains its caution stating that Mutami cannot be genuine, and the Queensland Police where she claimed she has registered a police case have announced that the number she publicised is not even a police case reference.

Her Twitter account stops posting by the end of August 2022 and in the whole of September, there is not a mention of Mutami at the UN General Assembly.

By Dec 2022, Susan Mutami has gotten Marry Chiwenga amputated and on another hand, dashed the hopes of millions of abused children whose rape cases are likely to be doubted now when they make reports.

Between being silenced and just going silent on her own, what has happened to Susan Mutami?

Chamisa Slapped By BoltCutter “State House Doesn’t Need Bible Verses”

By Lesley G Dube | CCC leader Nelson Chamisa was on Saturday criticized by one of his followers, Bolton Cutter Majoko when the nation’s most popular politician posted a Bible verse on Saturday morning.

The development comes after the man was criticised for being too religious and not practical.

A recent video of former President Thabo Mbeki reveals that in the 80s, South Africa’s ANC party secretly worked with the govts of Zimbabwe and Zambia and specifically Emmerson Mnangagwa who was state security minister to forcefully destabilise the apartheid regime.

Says Mbeki: “Emmerson Mnangagwa, was Minister of State Security that time and I worked with him. He is now President of Zimbabwe. Under the deal we crafted, Zimbabwe moved a whole battalion to the Limpopo river at the border with South Africa.
“That means the Zimbabwean soldiers would cross our weapons from Zambia to the Limpopo.

Our people would then cross from South Africa, without weapons and get them in Zimbabwe. There were a lot of roadblocks then,” said Mbeki.

Mbeki added saying, many ANC cadres travelled to sensitive meetings internationally using fake Zimbabwean documents.
“For instance, if I wanted to travel to some sensitive meeting abroad, I would go as Patrick Zhuwao,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd that included former Zimbabwean a minister Patrick Zhuwao.”

Hints from the video are that:

1. ANC is beholden to Mnangagwa.

2. ANC is part of Mnangagwa

3. Until CCC rises to this level of radicalism the likes of what the ANC was doing with Mnangagwa in the 80s, there is no hope of change.

4. Does CCC have a base in Zambia? No.

Does CCC have an intelligence base in Zambia? No.

Does CCC have its structures working in the Zambian govt? No.

So CCC does not have institutional power, it is only operating from a principle of persuasion. How sustainable is that in a struggle agaunst the world’s most brutal dictatorship?

Chamisa’s only notable response has been nothing beyond what’s religious and on Saturday he posted a Bible verse reference saying:

“… Oh God, You are the giver of life. Your light lets us enjoy life. Psalm 36:9
Blessed Sabbath beloved!”

Bolt Cutter commented saying, “

Man of verses…state house haide tumaverse utu…..”

To this, Chamisa responded saying, “THE STATE WILL ONE DAY BE FULL OF VERSES WHICH WILL EVEN BE ON BILLBOARDS-Bolt Cutter Majoko state ichazara maVerse nemabill boards chaiwo lol. Blessings to you,” said Chamisa

CID Asset Forfeture Unit Pounces On Tetrad Investment Bank

By A Correspondent- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Asset Forfeiture Unit has obtained a warrant of search and seizure against Tetrad Investment Bank (TIB) management and directors in a case of fraud and money laundering.

The search warrant against the now-defunct bank and its directors was issued Thursday in terms of Section 50(1)(a) as read with Section 288 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act (Chapter 9:07).

Tetrad was closed by the RBZ in December 2013 and was then placed in provisional liquidation in 2015.

In 2016, it was placed in final liquidation.

During its judicial management, a scheme of arrangement was devised to convert depositors’ funds and creditors’ dues into shareholding, with TCGT and directors taking control of the bank.

Some context:

The matter involves money laundering as defined in Section 8 (1)(a)(b) of the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act (Chapter 9:24) and fraud under Section 36 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:24).

The accused are:

1). the bank,

2). the bank’s directors: Harry John Orphanides, Misheck Mpiwa Chiwayo, John Alexander Brydone Graham, Michael Phillip Seton Gaisford, Andre Lourenco Vermaak and Appolinaire Ndorukwigira. Gaisford died while Ndorukwigira resigned a few days ago.

3). Tetrad Creditors Group Trust (TCGT) which converted depositors into shareholders.

TCGT claims to represent 70.71% of shareholders through proxies and uses this opaque structure to control the bank’s affairs.

TGCT is accused of refusing to allow an inspection of proxies that represent shareholders’ interests whom they claim to have.

The bank is now owned by its shareholders, not Tetrad Holdings as was the case before the debt-to-equity scheme of arrangement.

Lack of return on investment for eight years has fuelled a shareholders’ revolt at the bank whose directors are battling with the crisis as it spins out of control.

The shareholders are also complaining about the lack of audited financial accounts. They have not received audited financial accounts for the past three years. The last financials they received were qualified statements for 2018 which only came in 2022.

It is also believed that management and directors are benefitting from the bank’s diversified property portfolio from which they are receiving rentals, while equity stakeholders get nothing.

All this prompted Dimitri Divaris, son of the late modelling and fashion icon Kiki Divaris, to file criminal charges against the bank’s directors and TCGT.

Candle Exam At UZ

By A Correspondent- Power went off during an examination at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) in the Great Hall.

UZ acting registrar Munyaradzi Madambe Thursday confirmed the development adding that there was darkness for a brief moment, according to NewsDay.

He said:

We had a series of power outages on December 6, 2022. It’s unfortunate that someone decided to be mischievous by taking that picture during the 30 seconds transition from Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) electricity to generator power.

All our venues have backup power. It is also important to note that we have a dedicated ZESA power grid, so we hardly have power cuts, unless there is a fault, of which Zesa would always expeditiously attend to.

Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) secretary-general Joseph Nyamayaro refuted Madambi’s claims saying there was darkness for about 15 minutes during the examination. He is quoted by NewsDay as saying:

The UZ is taking students for granted. However, it is the State that is actually disrespecting students because it is a shame that its higher education institutions have increased fees, but cannot provide simple things like generators for students during examinations.

To say the blackout during the examination happened for a few seconds is mere propaganda. One cannot take a picture of a blackout in seconds. Even if electricity was later restored, they cannot restore the damage that students experienced. During an examination, the mind and body should be in sync. This rot in electricity and water service delivery has severely affected students.

Man Assaults Mugabe Over Sadza

By A Correspondent- The love of food landed a Glendale man in prison after he severely assaulted his wife with a shovel and bricks over a plate of Sadza.

Francis Chigaka (23) of Seddies farm, Glendale was remanded in custody  on Tuesday by Bindura regional magistrate Amos Mbobo.

Prosecutors allege on November  28  Chigaka arrived home during midnight under the influence of alcohol.

He demanded his plate of sadza from his wife Fungai Mugabe who told him that she had eaten his share.

Chigaka became furious after being denied his share and picked a shovel which he used to assault Mugabe.

He further assaulted his wife with bricks

Mugabe managed to pull an iron bar and struck her hubby once and fled to her sister’s house.

The angry Chigaka followed his wife and further assaulted her.

The matter continues on December 21.

Mwonzora Rules Out Reconciling With Chamisa

By James Gwati- MDC President Douglas Mwonzora has said he had no obligation to initiate a conversation with his political rival CCC leader Nelson Chamisa.

Mwonzora said his relationship with Chamisa showed no sign of improving and described it as toxic.

The two officially parted ways acrimoniously at the beginning year after almost two years of legal battles over the control of the late former Prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-founded political outfit.

Mwonzora says since they started fighting for MDC in 2020, he has not spoken to Chamisa.

He says their relations are worsened by Chamisa’s supporters, who bash him daily on social media.

Below is what Mwonzora told a local business publication:
I have not spoken to Advocate Chamisa, I have not been able to talk to them, the CCC, because I find them very toxic and I think on Twitter, and on social media, there is a lot of hate that comes from their group.
We have said every time that we stand for the unity of all progressive forces in the country so whether we are going to talk to each other in the future, I do not know but what I have noticed is a change of attitude in some of them towards me.
Most of their MPs are friendlier now and the level of toxicity is no longer that big and I don’t know what is going to happen.
You have said that I have spoken to Advocate Chamisa as if I have that obligation.
We did meet but for something different, at a funeral and we did talk, we are not enemies I do not resent him at all. I do not know his attitude towards me.

Chiwenga Business Partner Freed

By- Zimbabwean businessman Frank Buyanga Sadiqi was granted R150 000 bail at the Randburg Magistrates Court in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Buyanga, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s business partner, was arrested in November on allegations of kidnapping his son in Harare in 2020, and on charges of contempt of court.

He then appeared before the Randburg Magistrate’s Court where he was remanded in custody to allow South African authorities to verify his identity documents.

That was after it was found that Buyanga’s South African identity documents show he was born in Zimbabwe, yet his Zimbabwean passport says he was born in the United Kingdom.

The immigration charge is also supposed to be heard in court Tuesday next week.

This means that although Buyanga was granted bail, he is still in custody pending the finalisation of the immigration charge that he is facing. | The Herald

Former Tsvangirai Aide Exposes Mnangagwa

By- Former Prime-minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s aide, now President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s economic advisor, Eddie Cross, says he warned him about a power crisis.

Cross claims that in January this year, he told Mnangagwa in a private meeting if the power generation crisis was not addressed, Zimbabwe’s economic prospects would diminish.

Cross, a former member of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), said later, the same day, Mnangagwa invited him back to his office.

He said this time, in the president’s office, were four ministers from energy, commerce, agriculture, and finance.

They were joined by the chairman of the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA), the head of the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA), and the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) boss, according to Cross.

Mnangagwa told them what had been said by Cross and asked what was being done to deal with the power crisis. Said Cross at a business seminar in Harare on Thursday:

There was no plan. The president turned to Dr [Sidney] Gata [the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority boss] and asked him, ‘Sidney, what are you going to do about it’?

He added Gata told the president ZESA had no money to fix this problem.

Cross said the current power crisis affecting the SADC region was caused by poor planning by post-colonial governments. He said:

The electrical power crisis that has enveloped southern Africa has its roots in our post-liberation history. Before that, the utilities created by the states of southern Africa exhibited considerable foresight and planning.

This was led by the power utility of South Africa which had visionary leadership at the time and like China in the past 50 years, turned their huge coal reserves into a cheap source of electrical energy.

They installed enough power generation capacity to feed their own markets and to supply the deficit in their neighbours,

Zimbabwe is in the grip of a power crisis, with the country generating 500MW against a peak demand of 2 300MW per day.

As a result, Zimbabweans are getting an average of five hours a day of electricity, in most cases late at night or early in the morning. | News24

Minister Caught Over Lithium Mines

Mines and Mining Development minister Winston Chitando has been entangled at the centre of a vicious fight with international investors over vast lithium claims in Mutoko, Mashonaland East.
Although Chitando is linked to the Good Days lithium mining claims through an investment vehicle — Barrington Resources — there are fears that the cabinet minister could be trapped in a conflict of interest saga.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been on an offensive to attract the much-needed foreign investors under his ‘Zimbabwe is Open for Business’ mantra.

Investors from South Africa, Europe, China and the Americas have flocked to Zimbabwe. But the involvement of cabinet ministers in some of the projects has sent market jitters.

An investigation by the Zimbabwe Independent this week revealed that Chitando, through Barrington Resources, is locked in a battle of titans with foreign investors over Good Days.

It appears Chitando does not want to let go of the lithium mining claims in Mutoko, according to sources.

There are concerns over how other investors were allocated the same claims acquired in 2012 by Barrington Resources, a company Chitando declared to the government as one of his assets.

Approached for comment, Chitando and Mashonaland East provincial mining director Tendai Kashiri did not respond to questions sent.

Efforts to get a comment from the investors were futile.

However, details obtained by the Independent show that the Mutoko lithium resource remained untapped for years until new investors injected capital last year to operationalise the mining claims.

This sparked a messy fight as Barrington Resources claimed ownership.

According to the mining legislation, titles for energy minerals are approved by the Office of the President and Cabinet.

A source close to the developments said before the new investors were allocated the claims, Chitando tried to offload the resource.

“Chitando pegged the Good Days lithium claims in 2012 and has been trying to sell them. At some point, he tried to sell the claim to Prospect Resources and the company drilled about four holes but was not happy with the results,” the source said.

“Chitando cannot be seen openly fighting the investors but there is certainly a battle raging behind the scenes.”

Geo Associates managing director Paul Chimbodza confirmed exploring the Good Days claims.

“I can confirm that we once did an exploration at Good Days but we left because it did not meet our expectations. We were already at Arcadia, but looking at other potential lithium resources across the country,” Chimbodza told the Independent.

As the fight over the Mutoko lithium heats-up, the investors have reportedly approached top government authorities, seeking intervention to settle the matter.

This is not the first time Chitando has been embroiled in fights over mines.

Earlier this year, the minister was implicated in a mine ownership wrangle with businessman Yakub Ibrahim Mahomed.

He allegedly re-issued the claims under a special grant to Golden Reef Mining (Pvt) Ltd, in which he has interests.

Mohamed, who owns Anesu Gold (Pvt) Ltd, filed a High Court application seeking to interdict Chitando, former Mines secretary Onesimo Moyo, Golden Reef Mining, and Midlands provincial mining director Tariro Ndhlovu from grabbing his mining claims.

Mohamed claims that Anesu Gold is the registered owner of the gold claims in Mberengwa district, Midlands province, which are also referred to as Mangoro claims (Ipanema).

The Mines and Mining Development ministry and courts have been dealing with several other cases of mine ownership wrangles across provinces.

Recently, there has been a wave of scramble for minerals with individuals and companies filing court papers battling for ownership of various claims.

Some miners have been accused of forging documents.

At the beginning of this year, there were reports of hostile grabbing of a Mashonaland East-based lucrative gold mine called Jeke Mining Syndicate.

A well-knit syndicate involving high-ranking officials in the ministry of Mines and Mining Development and some of the investigators from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc), who were assigned to look into the matters, were accused of being compromised in the investigations.

In July 2021, Zawadi Mining (Pvt) Ltd, owned by Asante Mayeka, won a case against Revmark Mining Syndicate, Vavarirai Revesai, Anymore Makarichi and Andrew Chaboka, who were accused of invading the mine at Mayeka’s farm in Concession.

The matter was reported to the provincial mining director of Mashonaland Central province of the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, who sought the assistance of the provincial coordinator, Zimbabwe Republic Police Minerals Flora and Fauna Unit. Mayeka was unsuccessful in trying to evict the “illegal miners”.

There are allegations that senior politicians in the province have been piling pressure on the provincial mining director and the lands office to terminate Mayeka’s agriculture permits.

A report produced by Zacc last year exposed gross irregularities involving top Mines and Mining Development officials. – Independent

Fear Of Political Violence And Intimidation Has An Effect On Household Income: Survey

Fear of political violence has an effect on household income and food security, a baseline survey conducted in Mashonaland East by Southern Africa Crisis Management Agency (SACMA) has revealed.

The survey presented to traditional leaders from Mutoko, Goromonzi and Marondera on Thursday noted that villagers in the area under study had no power to decide whether or not to attend political meetings due to fear of violence and this impacted on their livelihoods projects.

According to the baseline survey, 58 percent of respondents said political violence had an effect on their household income, 47 percent attributed it to shortage of capital and inputs while, 42 percent blamed loss of land.

Responding to the baseline survey, traditional leaders from the three districts said they lacked skills and capacity to promote peace as they derive their power through inheritance.

The traditional leaders also noted that they fear the ruling party which they believe wields power over their fate by virtue of being the government of the day.

“We run like little kids when directed by the ruling party, so we are under fear. We are threatened with loss of positions, loss of government support for example inputs and even eviction if we don’t comply to their needs and demands. The threat is severe and we have suffered victimization and survived death several times,” one of the traditional leaders said.

“We do not coerce people willingly, but out of fear. Whilst the communities think that we force them, the ruling party overrides us and we work under duress. We desperately need solutions out of this,” another traditional leader said.

They also noted that they require leadership and peace building training to be able to handle disputes and promote peace in their communities.

Traditional leaders further noted that distribution of inputs for government programs such as Pfumvudza also destabilized their communities as government always failed to meet its promise of giving every household 2 bags of fertilizer and seed.

The baseline survey is part of SACMA’s project which they are going to implement in Mashonaland East province titled Zimbabwe Mitigating Fear and Promoting Peace (ZMFPP).

INSIDE JOB: Armed Robbery Near Mnangagwa’s Notorious Farm

The robbery which occurred at a service station in Kwekwe last month where nearly US$600 000 and over R63 400 was stolen, was an inside job involving a female employee who supplied information to her boyfriend and his accomplices, police have said.

Police have since arrested one of the suspects, Mathias Mushure (43), who alleged that a female employee identified as Sharon, had supplied information on where the money was kept and the general set-up.

The robbery occurred on November 27, at Rockdox Service Station and Mushure was arrested at a car park in New Lobengula, Bulawayo.

Police recovered US$1 937 cash which Mushure had left at his niece’s home, Mercy Muisa (35) for safekeeping. They also recovered a Toyota Runx, (AEI 6671), which Mushure bought with proceeds of the crime.

Mushure reportedly received US$7 500 cash as his share.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest saying they had since launched a manhunt for the other accomplices who are still at large.

They were identified as one Shacky, Dingilizwe Mloyi, Terrence Ngwenya, Mutonga, Ngolile, Mangwiro and Mtunzi.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Mathias Mushure aged 43 in connection with an armed robbery case which occurred on the 27th of November 2022 at Rockdox Service Station, Kwekwe, where US$580 840 and R63 430 cash was stolen.

“On December 1, 2022 detectives from CID Hillside, Bulawayo received Information that the suspect was involved in the robbery case and was hiding at a house in New Lobengula, Bulawayo,” he said.

Acting on the tip-off, police arrested Mushure at George Mlilo Car Park in New Lobengula last Friday.

“The arrest led to the recovery of US$1 937 cash which had been left at the suspect’s niece, Mercy Muisa’s home, for safekeeping. The detectives went on to recover a Toyota Runx vehicle, registration number AEI 6671, which was bought by the suspect using the proceeds of the crime.

“The suspect revealed that he had received US$7 500 cash as part of his share for the robbery loot. Investigations have also revealed that the suspects had received inside details on the way money was kept at the service station and the general setup, from one of the suspects’ girlfriend identified as Sharon,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

Police are however, appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of other suspects who are still outstanding.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Judge Evans Zinzombe (36) who is wanted in connection with a case of murder which occurred on Wednesday at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo. The suspect allegedly sneaked in a room where his wife, Phelomina Mabika (32), daughter (12) and son (7) were sleeping, before strangling her to death with his hands.

Zinzombe and his wife were reportedly having marital disputes which forced them to sleep in separate rooms.

“After the callous murder, the suspect allegedly went on to sexually abuse the body in full view of his children. The children spent the whole night with the body before a police report was made in the morning.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns the public against resorting to violence in resolving domestic disputes. The Police will ensure that the law takes its course on suspects involved in violent crimes such as murder and armed robbery,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.-state media

15 Inmates Acquire Agricultural Skills

Fixed telecommunications company, TelOne has helped 15 Chikurubi inmates acquire agricultural skills, which it hopes will assist them re-integrate into society after being released from prison.

The 15 inmates graduated Tuesday as foresters with a nursery, seedling and orchard management and production certificate.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony at Chikurubi Maximum Prison yesterday, acting TelOne managing director, Lawrence Nkala said: “We are positive that the programme has equipped our graduates with the knowledge and skills that will be useful as the inmates reintegrate into society after serving their respective sentences.”

The course content included woodlot establishment and management, fruit tree production, management of fruit trees, budding and grafting, bee keeping and financial management.

The 15 inmates included five females and 10 males. Three prison officers also graduated.

TelOne paid for the cost of the consumables, while Nyaradzo Group were the technical partners.

The training was a culmination of the TelOne and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) partnership that was forged in 2016. TelOne has since spent US$20 000 on the project.

The programme is expected to earn income for the prison as 60 000 seedlings were produced during the training project and 20 000 seedlings will be distributed to 200 schools across the country.

“We are of the conviction that with increased effort from us all, ZPCS could easily make in excess of US$50 000 per annum from tree seedling sales,” Nkala said.

The prisoners’ graduation ceremony also coincided with the National Tree Planting Day commemorations which are running under the theme Trees and Forests for Ecosystem Restoration and Improved Livelihoods.

The emphasis on ecosystem restoration is hinged on the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030) policy, a global initiative to eradicate effects of climate change.

Can Chamisa Ever Copy the Mbeki-Mnangagwa Secret Model?

Parents Facing Challenges To Secure Form 1 Places For Kids

Government has said there are adequate Form One places to absorb all pupils that wrote the Grade Seven public examinations this year.

The announcement comes as parents and guardians have started scrambling for Form One places for their children ahead of the 2023 Term One.

Parents and guardians seeking boarding school places are applying online while parents that intend to enrol their children as day scholars are physically visiting the schools.

The Government is encouraging parents to ensure day scholars are enrolled at schools close to their residential areas.

In Bulawayo, several parents and guardians have started flocking to schools which are perceived to be good.

A Chronicle news crew yesterday visited selected schools in Bulawayo and observed hundreds of parents and guardians queuing to secure Form One places for their children.

At Mpopoma High School, parents and guardians formed long queues with the hope of getting their children enrolled for Form One.

Schools such as Sizane High School had already placed a notice at the entrance notifying parents that they were no longer accepting new applicants.

Government has however assured parents that there are adequate places for all pupils intending to proceed to Form One next year.

Primary and Secondary Education Ministry communication and advocacy director Mr Taungana Ndoro said there is no need for parents and guardians to panic as there are adequate places for Form One.

“We don’t have a crisis in terms of Form One places. We have more than enough schools for Form One places, particularly day schools. No learner will fail to get a Form One place for 2023,” he said.

Mr Ndoro said the only challenge was boarding places which were limited.

He said parents and guardians were actually creating an artificial shortage of Form One places because they were limiting themselves to schools perceived to be good.

He said parents were targeting certain schools said to be producing good results thereby creating an impression that places have run out. “For instance, you might have a parent living in Nketa suburb but wants his or her child enrolled at a school in Barham Green suburb which is said to be good,” said Mr Ndoro.

He said parents should instead assist in developing their local schools so that they produce the good results they want.

“The onus is on the parents to improve the standards of local schools so that at the end of the day the schools offer quality education,” said Mr Ndoro.

He said the country does not have enough boarding schools making it increasingly difficult to absorb all the pupils seeking places.

“Pupils with six to nine units do not struggle to get enrolled even at boarding schools but those with lower grades find it difficult as priority is given to those with good grades,” said Mr Ndoro.

He said is is important for parents and guardians to be involved in the educational progression of their children from Early Childhood Development level until they reach High school.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (Zimta) chief executive officer Dr Sifiso Ndlovu concurred with Mr Ndoro, saying there is no shortage of Form One places but parents were limiting themselves to particular schools.

He said there is a need to improve the quality of some public schools so that they can compete with the so-called better schools.

“Private schools at the moment are offering better facilities, a variety of extracurricular and a better education resulting in most parents preferring them to public schools. If public schools were as good as private schools we wouldn’t be witnessing this scramble for places,” said Dr Ndlovu.

There was commotion at Mpopoma High School yesterday as parents jostled to have their children enrolled.

A parent, Mr Freddy Ndlovu from Mpopoma suburb, said Mpopoma High School was his first choice for his son.

He said his child obtained 10 units but the school authorities told him that they have closed the enrolment.

“I will be really disappointed if he fails to get a place at this school because this is one of the best schools in my zone.

We have been told to wait outside the gate so that in the event that some applicants fail to pay the required $35 000 deposit, we could then be considered,” said Mr Ndlovu.

The news crew observed that some of the parents who had secured places for their children were already paying the required fees.

Parents who had thronged church-run schools such as Sizane High School in Pelandaba suburb and St Columbus in Makokoba suburb were left disappointed after they were told that the schools had closed the enrolment

Mr Senzo Moyo from Mzilikazi suburb who was at St Columbus High School said despite his child having obtained nine units, he was turned away.

“My son got nine points so l thought getting a place here was not going to be problem. I am really disappointed because they are saying there are full. In this zone, this is the only good school I prefer,” he said.

At Sizane High School, authorities had placed a notice at the front gate notifying parents that they had closed the enrolment.

Mrs Siphosihle Ngulube of Pumula South said: “I might be forced to wait until the first week of January to try again in the event some pupils do not come.”

5 Cyclones To Hit Zimbabwe

Five cyclones are expected to hit Zimbabwe in the current rainy season, although there are no predictions of when, where they could strike, and their strengths.

But the Government has drawn valuable lessons from past cyclones and put in place measures to warn and protect people even should a high-energy cyclone with extreme rainfall hit.

Speaking during the National Tobacco Workshop, an agriculture meteorologist at the Meteorological Services Department, Benjamin Kwenda, said there would be an increase in cyclone activity from next month, with the risks being high over the next four months during the cyclone season.

“This season we are anticipating an increase in cyclone activity in January, February, March up to April but in terms of projections we are expecting five cyclones,” he said.

It was only when a cyclone finally formed in the Indian Ocean that it would be possible for meteorologists to start working out their likely path and updating that information frequently as the cyclone started moving towards Madagascar and Africa.

But even so the warnings were fairly short-term as the storms were unpredictable.

“The tropical cyclone, its just like a whirlwind so when the whirlwind is generated you are not able to pick where exactly it will go but as it grows bigger you will then able to pick the direction and then you can actually say this is where it is going,” said Mr Kwenda.

He said the Met Department was expecting rains into next week. There would be a decline of rainfall up to Wednesday next week, with some places experiencing sunny conditions.

The first half of the season, up to the end of the year, the expectation was that most of the country would be in the category of normal to below-normal, but the southern parts would see normal to above-normal totals.

“For the period December, January and February we are expecting the bulk of the country to receive normal to above-normal rainfall in this season and this is the same that we are expecting in January, February and March. We are generally looking for a better season in terms of seasonal totals,” he said.

The Met Department saw a possibility of having more frequent extremes, such as hailstorms, and so there was a need for crop insurance because that was the only way farmers could cope with losses to their crops.

Hail is ideally suited to insurance, since the odds of destruction of a crop on any particular farm is low, so premiums can be low, but if a hailstorm does move over a farm, the damage is extreme, and the insurance payout is vital.

The Government has been budgeting to ensure that adequate responses can be made for storm and flood damage.

Recently, the Department of Civil Protection chief director Mr Nathan Nkomo said adequate funds to deal with disasters such as flash floods associated with the rainy season have been set aside.

“The rainfall season comes with a lot of challenges, but more importantly, it also comes with a lot of hope because most of our agriculture is rain-fed. So we welcome the rainfall season in Zimbabwe. However, in terms of preparedness, we have done our level best. Remember we are preparing to handle natural hazards in the form of flash floods and ultimately, when we get into the cyclone season, mostly from January to March, we will escalate our level of preparedness,” he said.

Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union economist Ms Nyasha Taderera said staggering of crops is critical when the floods occur because not all crops will be affected. Diversification was crucial tp spread risk, hence a need to plant different types of crops.

“Cyclones are usually accompanied by dry spells so not all crops will be destroyed. The effects of floods are different to crops. Some can be totally destroyed but some may survive,” she said.

Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers’ Union president Dr Shadreck Makombe urged farmers to stay away from river banks adding that farmers should take all warnings seriously to keep themselves safe.-state media

Court Dismisses Mahere Application For Discharge

Harare regional magistrate Taurai Manuwere yesterday dismissed an application for discharge by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, who is being accused of publishing falsehoods.

Mahere, who was represented by Chris Mhike, had filed an application for discharge saying the State had failed to prove a case against her.

But Manuwere said the State had proved essential elements of the charge.

The case emanates from a tweet posted on Twitter by Mahere alleging that a police officer had fatally struck a baby with a baton stick.

The State said the baby was treated for bruises and minor injuries at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and discharged.

Manuwere said the State managed to prove that the statement made by Mahere was false.

The magistrate said Mahere also made statements that promote public disorder.

“I am of the view that the State managed to prove real risk that the statement was false. By saying rogue police officers the statement was detrimental to Zimbabwe Republic Police and it undermines them,” Manuwere ruled.

“By saying violence is in the blood of police, this statement undermines public confidence in the police. The State managed to prove the essential elements of the charge and the discharge application is hereby dismissed and the accused is placed on her defence.”

Mahere will be back in court on January 12 next year.

Underfunding Of Health Sector Will Cause Massive Brain Drain

THE Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care has warned that underfunding of the Health ministry in 2023 would haemorrhage the sector and cause massive brain drain.

Presenting the committee’s report on the 2023 health budget, acting chairperson of the committee Nicola Watson said: “This implies that the health sector will continue to significantly rely on out-of-pocket expenditures and donor assistance. This is not sustainable given the low disposable incomes among the public and the unpredictability of donor support.”

The Health and Child Care ministry was allocated $474,7 billion (11,2%) of the $4,5 trillion 2023 national budget.

Watson said the 11,2% allocation towards health was a far cry from the 15% budget allocation stipulated by the Abuja Declaration made by African governments in April 2001.

“All the hospitals across the country were grossly underfunded in the 2023 national budget. Central hospitals received $113,4 billion, while provincial hospitals received $35,02 billion. This level of financing will leave them incapacitated to deliver services.

“It is of concern that there is gross under-investment in medicines. It is now normal for patients to buy basic medicines like painkillers; and lack of medical supplies at hospitals has seen the mushrooming of pharmacies that are fleecing patients of their hard-earned cash. The 2023 national budget is grossly inadequate to address the massive brain drain.

The committee also accused government of heavy-handedness in handling health personnel during strikes, saying that fuels the brain drain.

“Health workers continue to earn salaries in local currency, yet they pay for expenses in United States dollars. Family health was allocated $12,09 billion and this constitutes only 37% of its bid. This is grossly inadequate given the level of maternal deaths and health needs at hospitals.”

President Mnangagwa Musatidaro: Letter To ED

His Excellency The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, I just do not understand why our Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General (CG) is not ticketing traffic violators on Zimbabwe’s roads, especially in Harare using form 280.

Zimbabwe is somehow an abnormal country where drivers can do what they want without fear of being punished (kuita Madiro panzira) . If this continues I will be calling for a serious demonstration against the CG against the oath that he took and swore that he will be protecting the citizens of Zimbabwe including us the road users.

You Excellency Sir, The President of Zimbabwe, CDE ED Mnangagwa our lives are in danger on the street of Harare. Whether one is a driver or a pedestrian our CG is allowing dangerous drivers to drive recklessly with impunity with no prospect of any form or punishment. There is no law and order on Zimbabwe’s streets sir. Mr President Sir, I am kindly requesting you to go undercover and drive in the street and see if you will come out alive in Harare’s traffic jungle. New drivers now believe that breaking the law is allowed and nothing absolutely noting will happen to you when you break the traffic law.

Once again I call for genuine and law-abiding drivers to call for CG to be sacked for not protecting us the citizen of the country he swore to serve.

What is shocking is our parliamentarians are quiet. The truth is most of the do not possess licenses and do not see anything wrong with the driving that these lawbreakers are doing in our streets. By the way, our ZUPCO drivers have joined the club and clearly, they are untouchable.

Law and order is required. We can not lie to the international community that we have law and order when our bad drivers are not punished.

Musatidaro please

Buyanga Granted Bail But Will Remain Behind Bars

South Africa’s Randburg Magistrate Court has granted Frank Buyanga R150 000 bail, but the Zimbabwean businessman will remain behind bars on fresh charges.

Buyanga was arrested last month following an Interpol warrant of arrest issued by Zimbabwe.

The warrant of arrest was controversially cancelled by Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga before the High Court reinstated it last week.

The South African court granted him bail on the reason that the Interpol warrant was still in effect.

But Buyanga’s joy was short-lived after it emerged fresh charges had been noted with another magistrate.

He will appear in court on December 13 for a fresh bail application.

Buyanga is now charged with fraud after he allegedly acquired the South African identity document.

He is also charged with contravention of the SA Immigration Act during Covid-19 as there is no record of entry for both himself and the child he wrested from the mother, Chantell Muteswa and smuggled into the neighbouring country.

His trial on kidnapping the child kicks off on January 24 next year.

Mnangagwa’s 2018 Election Promise On Power Comes Back To Haunt Him

The announcement by the Zambezi River Authority, which runs the Kariba Dam, that Zimbabwe had used up its share of the water in the world’s largest man-made reservoir sounded a death knell to an already desperate power generation sector.

While Zimbabweans have known nothing close to a consistent supply of electricity for decades now, the situation was what could be described as stable.

But the country is now looking straight into the proverbial mire, with between 18 to 22 hours of total black outs across the country.

Initially attributed to frequent breakdowns at the old Hwange Thermal Station owing to the dilapidated state and lack of maintenance over the years, the lack of foresight in planning on the part of government has been laid bare for all to see.

As part of his campaign promises ahead of the 2018 general elections, President Emmerson Mnangagwa promised to rump up electricity generation in order to resuscitate an ailing industry and spur economic growth.

Riding on the goodwill he has accumulated over his daredevil overthrow of independence leader Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa’s promises seemed to resonate with the ordinary people, but his promise card has turned into the butt of jokes for the Zanu-PF leader.

President Mnangagwa’s promise card and his picture with the comment “Zimbabweans do not listen to this guy. He does not work for ZESA (the public power utility),” sums up the derision with which ordinary citizens view the President.

The economy could not have asked for anything worse.

Mnangagwa has, according to some reports, threatened to switch off all domestic users as part of his raft of “solutions” to the crisis. The response from ordinary citizens has been nothing short of “go right ahead.”

A local butcher in the capital Harare was apt. “What are the authorities saying about the situation? I think for now we can safely say we do not have electricity at all. Why don’t they just switch off the national grid completely, tongoziva hedu kuti hatina magetsi,” said Muza, who works at a butchery in Mbare.

Muza said it has become difficult to run the butchery.

“We have cold rooms, but electricity is only available between midnight and 5 am. This means our refrigerators and cold rooms are not working properly. We are losing out on business because we are experiencing an extra cost to buy fuel to power our generators.

“At times we end up throwing away meat that would have decayed, so we are operating at a loss already,” said Muza.

A video of a distraught woman circulating on social media has citizens seething with anger. The voice of a woman is heard narrating how she has tried to make ends meet by starting a chicken project,  only to be undone by the rolling blackouts.

Clever Dongo looking for clothes to buy using candles after the electricity was cut. Zimbabwe has been expiriencing serious power cuts over the years that people have resorted to using candles and firewood to cook in Harare, Zimbabwe. The political instability in the Southern African country has resulted in a serious economic down turn.

“Trying to survive in difficult Zimbabwe. My chicken project down the drain. I will try to dry the meat for my dogs. They will enjoy but as for me it’s the end,” she is heard saying resignedly.

A survey by this publication has revealed that the majority have reprogrammed their daily schedule to capitalise on the few hours electricity is available.

For instance, in Mbare, welders, grinding millers and those in the catering and printing businesses are now being forced to spend nights at work in a bid to use electricity when it is available. The place will be a hive of activities during the night and workers will spend the day sleeping and resting.

It was around 8am when the news crew went to Harare’s oldest suburb township, Mbare. The area will normally be flooded with ear-bursting noise as the industry would be busy with production of various goods on every other day before the crisis.

However, the situation is now different as many were seen sitting in their workshops doing nothing or packing their stuff away as they troop home after a night shift.

“We no longer sleep at home. As you can see, my colleague who is a welder is now asleep. He slept here to make use of electricity during the night because if we don’t do that our families will starve. Business has been down since they announced Kariba is drying up,” said a barber who works in Mbare.

Most home industries run on minimum costs because of their nature and in most cases, they are hand to mouth type of ‘hustles’.

In many instances, these small businesses feed families of up to six people. And there are thousands if not millions who rely on such income.

Zimbabwe’s economy is largely informal at least since the 2008 meltdown.

At household level, women bear the brunt of staying up to undertake household chores that require power.

“We only wake up to charge our cell phones and cook food for the next day. Alternatively, we use gas for cooking but it is also now expensive, so to minimise expenses we have no option but to wake up at midnight,” said Millicent Chimugomo of Mbare.

With the festive season approaching, business is usually booming but the current state has rendered it idle.

When this publication took to industries, most businesses that rely on electricity were just open but not operating. Some were optimistic that maybe they would get to work, but the current trend by the energy utility company shows no signs of slowing down in power disruptions.

“I also run a side hustle of charging cell phones. On a normal day I take home US$10 but now it is impossible. As you can see, the battery I use to charge mobile phones is only 10 percent full. It will soon die out and I will go home with nothing,” said the barber.

A miller said they are experiencing tough times.

“I’m literally out of business. My clients can only come during the day so when we have electricity during the night only, it means I cannot work,” he said. To counter the situation, he uses a fuel power mill and says it is unsustainable.

“Fuel is expensive and always going up. Buying fuel when you could simply use electricity means an extra cost,” he added.

The country’s capital city centre and industry has not been spared. Most buildings in Harare, including uptown buildings, now rely on generators for their elevators, lighting and power supply.

Walking downtown Harare is more stressful with roaring generators creating noise nuisance. Shop owners who do not own generators are forced to operate with hand held torches or without lighting.

Addressing journalists recently, Energy minister Soda Zhemu said government was working around the clock to fix the situation.

“The government is making an intervention. This is a crisis situation and we hope through that intervention, funding will be available to apply for the additional capacity which we are looking forward to having access to from our neighbours in the region,” he said.

The minister said the station will only be shut down completely during Christmas days and on other days it will be generating about 300 megawatts daily, pending a review of the water situation next year.

According to Zhemu, the current average daily demand is around 1600 megawatts against a total available capacity which is between 1250 and 1350 from both internal sources and imports.

Zimbabwe also relies on its thermal power station located in Hwange. The station has however become notoriously unreliable owing to poor maintenance as it is now old. Hwange is the country’s largest coal-fired power station with 920MW installed capacity.

The plant now produces less than half its capacity. Kariba is reportedly producing a 3rd and a country that requires 2000 megawatts of electricity is producing less than 600 megawatts and importing another 200 from neighbours who are also struggling.

It a pipe dream to electricity that Zimbabwe is working and Mnangagwa continues to promise. What remains to be seen is whether his promises will come to fruition. However, it’s not something anyone is willing to bet a dollar on.

CCC Hails Team Pachedu

Team Pachedu needs our organic support, CCC Namibia echoes!

07 December 2022

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia salutes Team Pachedu for unearthing the manipulation of the voter’s roll during successive elections since 2008. The district calls upon change champions to urgently address these ZANU-PF rigging antics on the voter’s roll. Zec should release the electronic voter’s roll as per the provisions of the electoral law. If we don’t amplify our voices against this daylight rigging, hoping to win state power in 2023 will be just a castle in the air.

It is now imperative to demand the electronic voter’s roll that they are using on the delimitation exercise. The voter’s roll was never provided to the public since 2000, this must be resisted now or never. Namibia district has the conviction that change champions should gather the varlour, mettle, and nerve to approach Zec demanding its respect for the rule of law and constitutionalism. We are sick and exhausted of disputed elections in the motherland.

The recent by-elections held in Binga were bloody, we received terrible pictures of change champions who were butchered ahead of the elections for campaigning for CCC. Violence is another tool used by the politically inept regime to silence dissent. We need to be ready to defend ourselves from ZANU-PF thugs, we can’t continue to be beaten, maimed, killed, houses burnt, and frog-marched to ZANU-PF rallies being denied our political freedoms from the new millennium. It is our mandate to resist the futile attempt to convert us into second-class citizens in our fatherland. Zimbabwe is not a ZANU-PF private property, it belongs to all bonafide Zimbabweans including change champions.

Zec never said anything about the ongoing state-sponsored violence before, during, and after by-elections in Gokwe, Kwekwe, Binga, Gutu, Masvingo, and Mrehwa only to mention but a few. It has remained mute because it is an extension of ZANU-PF. The purported electoral amendment bill is a mockery of the documented recommendations toward free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe. Its stillness on the violence perpetrated by the ZANU-PF party before the elections qualifies them as accomplices in the rigging of elections in Zimbabwe. It was mute on the timeous release of election results, the provision of the voter’s roll on time according to the constitution, incessant politically motivated violence against the opposition, and the use of traditional leaders to harass and intimidate villagers.

These are some of the key areas that need to be addressed in order to hold free and fair elections. Citizens in Namibia urge the change champions to mobilize, recruit and radicalize for change as we target 6million voters in 2023.

In a nutshell, let’s compliment Team Pachedu! Our team is playing a very pivotal role in exposing how the voter’s roll is exploited by the regime to prolong their stay in power. We should embrace dangerous freedom against ZANU-PF shenanigans. Let’s act now for comprehensive reforms ahead of the watershed elections.

Woman Bashes Hubby’s Small House

A KWEKWE woman has filed an assault case with the police against her boyfriend’s wife who assaulted her in the Central Business District (CBD).

The wife had already paid a fine for the assault.

Michelle Ngwenya, 22, was allegedly bashed by her lover’s wife, Vimbai Dube, 37, sometime last month.

The beating was recorded in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

Dube accused Ngwenya of snatching her husband and influencing him to assault her for no apparent reason.

According to Dube’s lawyer, Linah Nyamukachi, the matter was settled soon after the assault when Ngwenya filed a report with the police.

Dube paid an admission of guilty fine for disorderly conduct.

“The matter between my client and Ngwenya was settled soon after the incident and my client paid a fine.

“But, to my surprise, the complainant (Ngwenya) has filed an assault case with the police on the same matter. We are waiting for a court date to be availed,” said Nyamukachi.

According to State papers, on November 8 at around 8am in the Kwekwe CBD, Dube and four others confronted Ngwenya, and accused her of being the cause of her beatings at home.

The State said Dube grabbed Ngwenya and cut her hair with a pair of scissors before whipping her with a sjambok.

Grandpa In Trouble For Bashing Wife

A 70-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo’s Njube suburb, in a drunken stupor grabbed his wife by her neck before choking and bashing her for asking their son why he was not going for his extra-lessons.
