Woman Bashes Hubby’s Small House

A KWEKWE woman has filed an assault case with the police against her boyfriend’s wife who assaulted her in the Central Business District (CBD).

The wife had already paid a fine for the assault.

Michelle Ngwenya, 22, was allegedly bashed by her lover’s wife, Vimbai Dube, 37, sometime last month.

The beating was recorded in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

Dube accused Ngwenya of snatching her husband and influencing him to assault her for no apparent reason.

According to Dube’s lawyer, Linah Nyamukachi, the matter was settled soon after the assault when Ngwenya filed a report with the police.

Dube paid an admission of guilty fine for disorderly conduct.

“The matter between my client and Ngwenya was settled soon after the incident and my client paid a fine.

“But, to my surprise, the complainant (Ngwenya) has filed an assault case with the police on the same matter. We are waiting for a court date to be availed,” said Nyamukachi.

According to State papers, on November 8 at around 8am in the Kwekwe CBD, Dube and four others confronted Ngwenya, and accused her of being the cause of her beatings at home.

The State said Dube grabbed Ngwenya and cut her hair with a pair of scissors before whipping her with a sjambok.

Chamisa, Mwonzora In Acrimonious Relationship

By James Gwati- MDC President Douglas Mwonzora has said that he has not talked to the CCC leader Nelson Chamisa for the past two years.

Mwonzora said his relationship with Chamisa showed no sign of improving and described it as toxic.

The two officially parted ways acrimoniously at the beginning year after almost two years of legal battles over the control of the late former Prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-founded political outfit.

Mwonzora says since they started fighting for MDC in 2020, he has not spoken to Chamisa.

He says their relations are worsened by Chamisa’s supporters, who bash him daily on social media.

Below is what Mwonzora told a local business publication:
I have not spoken to Advocate Chamisa, I have not been able to talk to them, the CCC, because I find them very toxic and I think on Twitter, and on social media, there is a lot of hate that comes from their group.
We have said every time that we stand for the unity of all progressive forces in the country so whether we are going to talk to each other in the future, I do not know but what I have noticed is a change of attitude in some of them towards me.
Most of their MPs are friendlier now and the level of toxicity is no longer that big and I don’t know what is going to happen.
You have said that I have spoken to Advocate Chamisa as if I have that obligation.
We did meet but for something different, at a funeral and we did talk, we are not enemies I do not resent him at all. I do not know his attitude towards me.

Mwonzora Dreams Of Winning 2023 Elections

By- The opposition leader MDC-T Douglas Mwonzora said he was confident of grabbing the 2023 Presidential polls.

Mwonzora, Thursday, told reporters that his party had learned from its poor showing in recent by-elections and was now well-placed to challenge the dominant parties, Zanu PF and CCC, in next year’s elections.

 He said:

The party is preparing for the 2023 elections. We have resolved that we are going to contest 210 constituencies.

We did learn our lessons as the MDC in the bye-elections that happened on 26 March, and we have put in place a strategy that will deal with those.

After we did not do well in the by-elections we went back to the drawing board and we are making those interventions that will make us succeed.

We are going to fare much better than most political parties in 2023.

Mwonzora denied allegations that he intimidated other party officials from challenging his position ahead of the MDC-T elective congress set for 18 December.

One of the alleged presidential hopefuls, Norest Marara, filed of an urgent chamber application at the High Court alleging unconstitutional practices in the party. Said Mwonzora:

There was a court application by Mr Marara but that court application has been dismissed by the courts as being not urgent.

We are very happy that Mr Marara took his case to court where people who are not us presided over it.

No one was stopped from contesting the elections. We do not intimidate people here in the MDC.

I made it clear as the MDC president that my position was up for grabs. I am the only opposition leader who dares to do that.

Since the formation of CCC early this year, MDC-T has failed to win a single parliamentary or local authority seat in by-elections that were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. | NewZimbabwe.com

Jail Break At Chikurubi

DeMbare, Rhinos Clash Over Star Player

Black Rhinos have accused Dynamos of not respecting other teams and having a ‘big brother attitude’, after the Harare giants negotiated a deal with striker Eli Ilunga before the expiry of his contract with the army side.

The 2021-22 Soccer Star of the Year finalist’s contract at Rhinos ends on December 31 this year and he has since signed a pre-contract to join DeMbare.

Rhinos Secretary General Colonel Edward Mutukwa accused DeMbare of disrespect, insisting they should have at least contacted the army side, rather than just deal with the player privately.

“They are exhibiting a big brother attitude which we find annoying,” Colonel Mutukwa was quoted as saying by NewsDay.

“Granted, Eli’s contract is expiring at the end of the year, but they (Dynamos) should have had the courtesy to contact us.

“But what did they do, they went ahead and negotiated with the player and even offered him a contract.

“They have already signed a pre-contract agreement with the player. It shows they are disrespectful to the institution called Black Rhinos, which is very unfortunate.

“The problem is we have teams that think Black Rhinos is a training ground for them. We are not,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Diabetes Treatment

World Diabetes Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes as a global public health issue and what needs to be done, collectively and individually, for better prevention, diagnosis and management of the condition.

This year’s theme, ‘access to diabetes education’, underpins the larger multi-year theme of ‘access to care’.

In the lead-up to and on 14 November, WHO will highlight not only the challenges, but more importantly the solutions, to scaling-up access to diabetes medicines and care.

WHO’s World Diabetes Day activities will cover issues ranging from championing the priorities of people living with diabetes in advocacy to the Global Diabetes Compact, which drives efforts globally to reduce the risk of diabetes and ensure access to treatment and care.

However in response, musician Cucsman said:

“I have more hit songs than this 42-year-old man, he doesn’t have anything in his name ,his leaked sx tape made more waves than his rubbish music, iam not a rapper but ndogona kutodzidzira nhasi ndikamukunda , his recent album flopped, mbiri yake ndeye mahre chete! Support Team Pachedu In Exposing ZEC Electoral Fraud

Team Pachedu needs our organic support, CCC Namibia echoes!

07 December 2022

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia salutes Team Pachedu for unearthing the manipulation of the voter’s roll during successive elections since 2008. The district calls upon change champions to urgently address these ZANU-PF rigging antics on the voter’s roll. Zec should release the electronic voter’s roll as per the provisions of the electoral law. If we don’t amplify our voices against this daylight rigging, hoping to win state power in 2023 will be just a castle in the air.

It is now imperative to demand the electronic voter’s roll that they are using on the delimitation exercise. The voter’s roll was never provided to the public since 2000, this must be resisted now or never. Namibia district has the conviction that change champions should gather the varlour, mettle, and nerve to approach Zec demanding its respect for the rule of law and constitutionalism. We are sick and exhausted of disputed elections in the motherland.

The recent by-elections held in Binga were bloody, we received terrible pictures of change champions who were butchered ahead of the elections for campaigning for CCC. Violence is another tool used by the politically inept regime to silence dissent. We need to be ready to defend ourselves from ZANU-PF thugs, we can’t continue to be beaten, maimed, killed, houses burnt, and frog-marched to ZANU-PF rallies being denied our political freedoms from the new millennium. It is our mandate to resist the futile attempt to convert us into second-class citizens in our fatherland. Zimbabwe is not a ZANU-PF private property, it belongs to all bonafide Zimbabweans including change champions.

Zec never said anything about the ongoing state-sponsored violence before, during, and after by-elections in Gokwe, Kwekwe, Binga, Gutu, Masvingo, and Mrehwa only to mention but a few. It has remained mute because it is an extension of ZANU-PF. The purported electoral amendment bill is a mockery of the documented recommendations toward free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe. Its stillness on the violence perpetrated by the ZANU-PF party before the elections qualifies them as accomplices in the rigging of elections in Zimbabwe. It was mute on the timeous release of election results, the provision of the voter’s roll on time according to the constitution, incessant politically motivated violence against the opposition, and the use of traditional leaders to harass and intimidate villagers.

These are some of the key areas that need to be addressed in order to hold free and fair elections. Citizens in Namibia urge the change champions to mobilize, recruit and radicalize for change as we target 6million voters in 2023.

In a nutshell, let’s compliment Team Pachedu! Our team is playing a very pivotal role in exposing how the voter’s roll is exploited by the regime to prolong their stay in power. We should embrace dangerous freedom against ZANU-PF shenanigans. Let’s act now for comprehensive reforms ahead of the watershed elections.

Angry Settlers Bash Notorious Zanu PF Apologist

By Cucsman Edutainment

In as much as I don’t condone violence I think this action is necessary on all those who think that they can impose their will on people through violence especially Zanu Pf bigheaded supporters who goes about beating up people in rural areas, threatening to kill anyone who supports NELSON CHAMISA.

People power still works if its collective. People have been abused for long and they can only help themselves but prescribing the same medicine administered. Now he says violence does not work coz they gave him a dosage of what he used to do.

Unpacking Complexities In Mining

Business Correspondent

Mining is a form of business that is not understood by many people.

In mining it is important to work with individuals with expertise and relevant knowledge.

The presentation below was prepared by Three Wingers Enterprises. The company provides mining consultancy services, housing services, business consultancy and networking for farmers, among other services…

Steps to keeping your Mining as professional and still small
Mining is a business just like any other business .

1 Hire people who understand Mining in everything not relatives and friends even your wife and children.

Hire a qualified manager with knowledge of small scale Mining ( not necessarily from school of mines ) or train one for yourself.

Manager is key to mine administration, record keeping , production analysis and decision making, meeting Mining officers , hiring relevant workers and most of all keeping gold and administrating capital.

2 Take your time understand Mining yourself manager shouldn’t be ahead of you buy books about Mining laws like a mines and minerals act . Explosives act , gold trade act .

3 Take informed risks invest capital for learning through venture called sponsorship for less than 2000usd even 500usd buy things like explosives , cyanide, diesel, tank construction or buy a compressor and visit regularly and learn more to invest more .

I call this phase investing to learn profit is bonus . The more you visit and prepared to learn the more you increase chances of winning.

4 understand the meaning of Mining compliance inorder to avoid conflict with law officers and increase your chances of making profit
5 know all risky adventures in the mining sector. Only sell value property to fund a mine when you are a guru .

6 when you have understood the game invest more in equipment to speed a process you understand and make money
7 if possible go to school of mines for short courses after you have understood small scale Mining full .

8 look for other forms of making money in the mining sector without having to mine below are opportunities you can explore preferably with us
1 finance: Mining sector in Zimbabwe has no funding its high risky funding we have modeled a less risky funding process.

Zim Power Crisis Forces UZ To Write Exams In The Dark

University of Zimbabwe (UZ) students wrote part one of their examinations in the dark after power suddenly went off at the institution amid the unrelenting countrywide power crisis.

The power crisis has forced power utility, Zesa Holdings to introduce 18 to 22-hour load-shedding schedule which has affected homes, industries and institutions, including Zesa’s facilities.

This week, UZ students had to write their examinations in the dark in Great Hall.

UZ acting registrar Munyaradzi Madambe yesterday confirmed the issue to NewsDay.

He, however, pointed out that the university often experiences power outages.

“We had a series of power outages on December 6, 2022. It’s unfortunate that someone decided to be mischievous by taking that picture during the 30 seconds transition from Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) electricity to generator power. All our venues have backup power. It is also important to note that we have a dedicated Zesa power grid, so we hardly have power cuts, unless there is a fault, of which Zesa would always expeditiously attend to.”

Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) secretary-general Joseph Nyamayaro told NewsDay that during those minutes without power while the examination was on-going, students were adversely affected.

He said there was darkness for about 15 minutes during the examination.

“The UZ is taking students for granted. However, it is the State that is actually disrespecting students because it is a shame that its higher education institutions have increased fees, but cannot provide simple things like generators for students during examinations,” Nyamayaro said.

“To say the blackout during the examination happened for a few seconds in mere propaganda. One cannot take a picture of a blackout in seconds. Even if electricity was later restored, they cannot restore the damage that students experienced. During an examination, the mind and body should be in sync.  This rot in electricity and water service delivery has severely affected students,” he said.

Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa attributed the electricity crisis to corruption and lack of political will to fight graft.

“This current power shortage problem is the latest manifestation of the effects of corruption as we have said all along. With robust measures and political will to fight corruption, the Kariba issues should not have plunged us into this crisis,” Mliswa tweeted.

Epworth Man Arrested For Murdering His Friend Over $80

An Epworth man was yesterday arraigned before Harare magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure facing murder charges after he killed his friend over $80.

Stephen Sixpence (72) was told to stand down and wait to be called from custody to allow his “lawyer” to be present during trial. He had told the magistrate that his son and his friends will represent him in court.

It is alleged that he committed the offence on December 5, when he assaulted the now deceased, Langton Kambamura with an iron bar on the head after the duo had a misunderstanding over $80 which had gone missing.

The deceased is said to have been the owner of the money.  After he was assaulted by Sixpence, he died at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in Harare due to the deep wound that he sustained.

The iron bar used to commit murder by the accused is said to have been found in Sixpence’s bedroom.

Eye witnesses also pinned him to the crime.

Mwonzora Says He Will Punch Above His Weight To Win In 2023 Elections

Opposition MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora has claimed the party will shrug off a disappointing show in this year’s by-elections to punch above its weight  and win next year’s presidential elections.

MDC will approach the next year’s general elections at an all time low following a phase of factionalism which has torn apart the once formidable opposition.

The party fired blanks in this year’s  march by-elections signalling another low in the history of the opposition.

Mwonzora says the forthcoming elective congress will be a precursor to the party’s preparations  for next year’s elections

“The party is preparing for the 2023 elections. We have resolved that we are going to contest 210 constituencies. We did learn our lessons as the MDC in the bye-elections that happened on the 26th of March and we have put in place a strategy that will deal with those.

“After we did not do well in the by-elections we went back to the drawing board and we are making those interventions that will make us succeed. We are going to fare much better than most political parties in 2023,” said Douglas Mwonzora.

Since the death of founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition has lost appeals with infighting and court battles for the control of the party reigning supreme.

A similar template of infighting for the leadership of the party is rearing its head as the MDC approaches its elective congress slated for 18 December.

Allegations of intimidation and swaying of votes for party positions have been levelled against Mwonzora.

Mwonzora has been accused of strategically positioning members belonging to his party such as Pauline Mupariwa into influential positions to strengthen his grip on power.

This prompted a filing of an urgent chamber application at the High Court by presidential hopeful Norest Marara alleging unconstitutional practices  in the party.

Mwonzora said the disgruntlement of some members stems from a position of losing the nomination battle ruling out underhanded activities.

“There was a court application by Mr Marara but that court application has been dismissed  by the courts as being not urgent. We are very happy that Mr Marara took his case to court where people who are not us presided over it.

“No one was stopped from contesting the elections. We do not intimidate people here in the MDC. I made it clear as the MDC president that my position was up for grabs. I am the only opposition leader who dares to do that,” said Mwonzora.

ZEC Under Fire Over Preliminary Delimitation Report

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)has come under fire over its recently published delimitation preliminary report with a group named Councillors for Economic Development demanding a redo of the exercise.

The ZEC delimitation preliminary report revealed that some rural districts which are the strongholds of Zanu-PF will be lost to some peri-urban and growth points.

Opposition parties command a religious following in urban areas and growth points.

Councillors for Economic Development which backs the ruling party accused ZEC of not carrying out proper consultations in the delimitation process.

“Our focus cannot be divorced from activities that affect those communities, including the delimitation of electoral boundaries,” said Rodgers Nhari, the organisation’s chairman

“The recently released preliminary report by ZEC is a great cause for concern to us as it is lacking in many ways. These include lack of consultation of stakeholders including us councillors.

“We, therefore, call upon ZEC to revise this report and come up with a more consultative process that will inform a comprehensive report which will be usable for the progress of our nation.”

The delimitation was informed by the national housing and population census that was held in April in preparation for next year’s general elections.

ZEC it will be done with subdividing of the electoral boundaries prior to the 2023 election by year end.

The electoral body has held consultations with concerned stakeholders with suspected Zanu-PF youths disrupting some meetings leading them to be abandoned in some areas.

Nhari said the preliminary should not be adopted calling for it to be wholly discarded

“The report is too shallow to the extent that one wonders the criteria that was used to compile it,” he said.

“As councillors, we hold the view that a delimitation report should never disregard the census report which gives proper demographics to enable delimitation to take place. If adopted, this report will erode our belief system within the wards.”

Mavaza: CCC Is Imploding

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Are citizens willing to tolerate violations of democratic rules and norms by competent political leaders? The behaviour of some opposition political leaders yield bad news for democracy. To be specific undemocratic behavior by CCC and political candidates decreases voter support, whereas candidate competence increases support. There is a false successes and great failures of undemocratic opposition political leaders around the world: although these leaders can gain support by appearing to be competent, competence does not make citizens tolerate undemocratic behavior entirely.
As we come closer to 2023 elections the opposition CCC has shown its divisions and the situation in the boardroom represents a dog’s breakfast. CHAMISA has entered into a serious fight which is threatening to tear the party apart. All this is caused by the little money offered to the CCC money seeking MPs.
CHAMISA has shown great undemocratic tendencies and stubbornness which has triggered fierce opposition to the fragile leadership of the factious CCC.

The MP’s fund saga has exposed CCC and set the tongues wagging wondering if CCC is a political party or a pressure group.. It is not constituted as a political party it has no constitution no principles and no known rules which guides or control the party. They have lost credibility on the domestic front and foreign front. Nobody is willing to invest in a party which resembles a burial society. A burial society is mostly well organised with the constitutions and rules to be followed.
We should remember that CCC
is an offshoot of MDC which was constituted as a pressure group in its infants. The difference is that a pressure group is a single agenda movement like fighting for some rights. The CCC is neither a party nor a pressure group. It has a devastating draught of organisation. It is indeed a virgin to structures. The opposition democracy is at a dangerous inflection point. The moment requires a step-change in strategy and support. Without such momentum, the CCC faces a democratic setback potentially as serious as the ones already occurring in some parties away from homes
Many people view this moment with concern, but their worry is measured in reality.MDC or CCC system is creaky, but the country’s opposition has no respect for strong strong institutions and will not pull through come 2023. CCC is actually triggering a serious defeat in 2023. Their destructions of their own party caused confusion to citizenries, whose polarization leads them to back policies that harm democracy to ensure their side prevails. CCC is on precisely this path.
CCC has entered in the self destruction mode it is behaving like a pressure group. The difference is CCC does not even have one principle it stands for. it is not a party that is built around coherent ideology or vision. It is a loose coalition of citizens with no agenda. They have no coherent ideology they don’t even have a constitution. They have no basis of survival no principles and nothing they stand for. Assuming that they were politicians out of the spirit of politicians it is not enough to be a politician. Politics is a vehicle of statesmanship. You can be sly pompous but statesman is an aggressively unflinchingly patriotic spirit expected of any politician.
Being a politician is an order to win power and rule.
The problem we have with CCC is that it is neither patriotic nor organised almost resemble a pressure group alas they fall shot they are not politicians in a conventional sense. Politics and power are only used to work on the best interest of one’s country. But if a political outfit shows its love for money over national interest then God have mercy on us.
There is no opposition which sets its own country on fire. Even Malema has never wished evil to befall South Africa. He never invites foreigners to squeeze life out of South Africa. No opposition party thrives on inviting hell for its country. This does not win you any credible friends in your country or alliances out side the country. No one respects an entity which does not respect itself.
Self respect is a principle which escaped CCC. They are not states men. CCC des not have government preparedness where a party can evidence a number of things. The party which wants to rule must evidence patriotism. Without that you have no moral right to govern a country. They have no government preparedness. This has has two categories which are Suitability and capability. They are not fit to govern they are not a suitable government outfit. Nothing qualifies you to govern when you are not patriotic. If you want to set your country on fire it shows you have no interest with your citizens. The government has a duty to defend it’s citizens. What if God forbids they become government. Can they defend us against any foreign invasion.
We are discovering a lot of minerals and very soon the Western world will be seeing extremism and groups may be sent to destabilise Zimbabwe. If this happens will they defend us. The way they have performed against our country they are not going to care when we are attacked.
The CCC lacks Capability. Capability is easy to see. They have no single documents about their party. How can they enforce statutes laws and so forth statutory instruments. The government works on laws. How is CCC going to be a government when they can not govern themselves.

How can Legislate bye-laws and laws. It is an issue of capability. They can’t produce a document even a burial society can produce a one page document. The indicator of incapability is failure to have a constitution.
They do not understand the work of government. They lash out at police at army and all the institutions of government. Other opposition in other countries do not attack the civil service judges and enforcement agencies. They have no marturity for government to understand the awareness of governance.
In any opposition or most useful oppositions we have a government in waiting. We have none of this in CCC. No shadow cabinet in CC C. Without a shadow government and you have no government in waiting them you are not serious. Government awareness is an alternative programme.

There has to be an alternative program. There is no alternative government there is no political program. All they are saying is can you vote for us. But vote for what? The only reason for the vote is that ZANU HAS OVERSTAYED.
Being that as it may does that entitle you to be a ruler. What matters is, Is there an alternative. No matter how long a party has stayed there is no alternative but a confused party with no government a party which wants to rule us but they have no single piece of paper.

If there is no an alternative the ruling party must stay as long they are organised.
It is true that No government is perfect. The major question is is there an alternative. We can not remove a government if there is no alternative. If ZANU PF is not failing dismally we are not supposed to change it with nothing without a viable option. CCC is it a party or a burial society one may wonder.
Lack of democracy in CCC is shocking. As a young person CHAMISA should know that once he fails to win elections he should resign. But his clinging to power is revealing.
It is shocking that there are still political party members who say that they would continue to support candidate even if the candidate did such undemocratic things as running a party on a whim.
But why do voters support undemocratic candidates? And what might motivate these CCC members to elevate democratic principle over partisan gain? The West pouring time and money into getting more people to vote, particularly minorities and swing voters, to win back the country from its owners.

Apostle Chiwenga Loses USD7,000

A deacon at self-styled preacher, Talent Chiwenga’s church called Jesus Revelation Ministries, yesterday admitted in court to hiring thieves to steal US$7 000 contained in two safes that had been paid as offerings at the church.
Netsai Carlington Makwanya admitted to hiring thieves to steal from the church’s finance clerk, Sochileka Adamu, after posing as congregants who wanted to pay offerings before attempting to steal the cash.

Makwanya was apprehended by members of the public as he tried to run away after stealing the cash.

He admitted to the offence when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Noticia Shenje charged with theft.

Makwanya was remanded in custody to today for sentencing.

One of the suspected hired thieves, Simbarashe Zisengwe, who also jointly appeared with Makwanya, denied the charges.

The State led by Mrs Shambadzeni Fungura had it that on December 6 the duo, in the company of Enerst Kagoro, who is still at large, planned to steal the offerings.

Makwanya then gave Zisengwe and Kagoro US$20 so that they could pay the money to Adamu as an offering.

They then went to the church’s premises where they gave Adamu US$20.

The court heard that as Adamu was receiving the money, Zisengwe went to open the safe containing two cash boxes with US$7 000.

An alert Adamu screamed for help, according to the State. It is said that Kagoro ran out and disappeared.

Zisengwe tried to run away but he was apprehended by members of the public, who heard Adamu screaming for help.

He was then taken to police and the two cash boxes were recovered.

Upon being interviewed, Zisengwe implicated Makwanya, who also fingered Kagoro.- state media

Man Rapes Minor Over Packet of Chips

A 25-year old man from Nkulumane 5 suburb in Bulawayo who gave his 15-year-old girlfriend money to buy fresh chips in exchange for sexual favours has appeared in court.

Rape over packet of chips

Muthole Muleya appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mjanja charged with having sexual intercourse with a young person as defined in Section 70 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to 20 December for trial.

The court heard that sometime in May 2022, the accused phoned the victim while requesting to visit her at her place and she agreed before she told him to come since her aunt and uncle had gone out.

It is reported that the accused went to the girl’s place at night when two minors who were also staying with the victim had slept.

Upon arrival the accused reportedly solicited for sex from his girlfriend and she accepted. The two then had sex.

It is reported that sometime in June 2022, the accused requested for another visit and the girl agreed.

Using the same modus operandi of going there after hours, it is reported that upon arrival Muleya had sex with the girl.

Muleya reportedly gave the victim money to buy fresh chips and a Russian sausage in exchange for sexual favours.

The court further heard that the matter came to light sometime in July 2022 when the victim’s aunt found some money in her bag and asked her where she got it from and that’s when she told her that she got it from the accused.

Upon being questioned that is when she revealed her shenanigans with the accused.

The matter was then reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.

The victim was referred to hospital for examination. —B Metro

Lobels Boss Reported for Alleged Sexual Assault

Lobels Biscuits Company in Bulawayo’s chief operations officer (COO) Andrew Dinhidza has been arrested over allegations he sexually attacked several female subordinates.
A source close to investigations said four women had since filed rape charges against Dinhidza.

According to the source one of the victims is a 29-year-old woman who is employed as a packer.

“Sometime in 2017 the 29-year-old woman went to look for a job at Lobels Biscuits Company at the time Dinhidza was the Human Resources Manager and he recruited her.

“After that he approached her demanding payment for employing her. At first she turned down his request, but he threatened to expel her, forcing her to give in and slept with him,” the source said.

The source added: “Sometime in October this year the woman said Dinhidza called her to his office and demanded to have sex with her and she did not resist because she was afraid of losing her job.”

The woman in question reported the rape incidents at Kumalo Police station after protests were recently staged against Dinhidza over allegations of nepotism and sexual harassment.

Another alleged rape victim is a 33-year-old woman who resides in Nkulumane suburb.

It is said the victim did not report for duty for two consecutive days, and when she reported for duty she informed her immediate supervisor who allegedly turned her away.

Lobels workers demonstrate outside the Belmont factory

“Being desperate for her job she approached Dinhidza who told her that if she wanted to save her job she must have sex with him and she agreed before they had sex in his office and her job was saved,” said the source.

The victim reported the alleged rape at Donnington Police Station on Tuesday this week.

Another victim, a 40-year-old woman from Entumbane suburb was allegedly sexually attacked by the boss when he called her to his office and asked her if she wanted to be employed permanently.

“He promised the complainant that if she wants to be employed as a permanent worker she has to sleep with him and she agreed before he drove to a lodge in the city centre and had sex with her.”

On another occasion they reportedly had sex in his car near the company premises.

To her disappointment Dinhidza reportedly never fulfilled his promise.

On 7 December the woman who joined a protest against all forms of abuse later filed a rape case against Dinhidza at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

The fourth victim is a 37-year-old woman who is employed as a machine operator.

She fell prey to the attacker after she approached him to have her husband who had been fired to be reinstated.

“She approached Dinhidza in his office and pleaded with him to have her husband re-hired but Dinhidza told her that he could only be reinstated on condition that she had sex with him and she bowed down to the demands and had sex with him. After that the victim’s husband was re-hired. On another occasion he picked her up at the company premises and had sex with her at a lodge.”

The woman reported the alleged rape cases at Donnington Police Station on 7 December 2022 leading to the arrest of Dinhidza who is now awaiting his day in court.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed his arrest.

“I can confirm that we received several reports that range from abuse of office and sexual abuse of females and one of the suspects who is accused of sexual abuse has been arrested and is helping police with investigations.”

President of Biscuits Manufacturing Industry Workers Union who is also Lobels Workers Union representative Moses Matupire said the strain between workers and the embattled COO emerged when they advocated for a Sexual Harassment Policy to be put in place but Dinhidza allegedly refused.

“As the workers we have noted with concern that there were many issues of sexual harassment which were happening in the company but they were going unreported as workers feared losing their jobs. We pushed for the sexual harassment policy to be in place but the COO was the stumbling block,” said Matupire.

He went on and said Dhinhidza was employing his relatives while turning a blind eye to the employees with proper qualifications for the job.

He said workers were also victimised after a robbery case that recently happened at the company, when money started to be deducted from their salaries.

“He deducted 15 percent from our salaries without notice. We work 12 hours without overtime and after that the workers are given US$140 per month.

“He decided to take the company out of the bakery sector to operate without a collective bargaining agreement. We complained to the National Employment Council (Nec) until a decision was made on 13 October to have the company reinstated as a bakery,” he said.

The alleged rape victims and about 496 aggrieved employees are being represented by their lawyers Task Vhiki and Mary Nyika of Macharaga Law Chambers.

Meanwhile, about 500 employees from the company were on Tuesday blocked by the police from staging a demonstration against Dinhidza, whom they accuse of many wrongdoings including sexual harassment, abuse of the office and nepotism.- B Metro

Mwonzora, Chamisa Relations Deteriorate

By James Gwati- The relationship between two opposition leaders, Nelson Chamisa and Douglas Mwonzora has deteriorated, with the latter describing it as toxic.

Chamisa leads the country’s most prominent opposition, CCC, with his counterpart, Mwonzora heading the MDC.

Small House Thoroughly Bashed By Lover’s Wife

Health And Disability

A new report by the World Health Organization shows evidence of a higher risk of premature death and illness among many persons with disabilities compared to others in the society.

The Global report on health equity for persons with disabilities published today shows that because of the systemic and persistent health inequities, many persons with disabilities face the risk of dying much earlier—even up to 20 years earlier—than persons without disabilities.

They have an increased risk of developing chronic conditions, with up to double the risk of asthma, depression, diabetes, obesity, oral diseases, and stroke. Many of the differences in health outcomes cannot be explained by the underlying health condition or impairment, but by avoidable, unfair and unjust factors.

Launched ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the report shows the number of people with significant disabilities worldwide has risen to 1.3 billion (or 1 in 6 people). This number reinforces the importance of achieving full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and embedding the principles of inclusion, accessibility and non-discrimination in the health sector.

Unfair factors: a key cause of disparities in health
The report stresses the need for urgent action to address the vast inequities in health caused by unjust and unfair factors within health systems. These factors—which account for many of the differences in health outcomes between persons with and without disabilities—could take the form of:

negative attitudes of healthcare providers,
health information in formats that cannot be understood, or
difficulties accessing a health centre due to the physical environment, lack of transport or financial barriers.

“Health systems should be alleviating the challenges that people with disabilities face, not adding to them,” said WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“This report shines a light on the inequities that people with disabilities face in trying to access the care they need. WHO is committed to supporting countries with the guidance and tools they need to ensure all people with disabilities have access to quality health services.”

With an estimated 80% of persons with disabilities living in low- and middle-income countries where health services are limited, addressing health inequities could be challenging. Yet even with limited resources, much can be achieved.

Opportunities for a disability-inclusive health sector
Recognizing that everyone has the same right to the highest attainable standard of health, the report provides important economic analysis of adopting a disability-inclusive approach.

It shows investing in a disability-inclusive health sector is cost-effective.

WHO calculates that governments could expect a return of about US$ 10 for every US$ 1 invested on disability-inclusive noncommunicable disease prevention and care. In addition, family planning and vaccination are cost–effective when implemented in a disability-inclusive manner.

Targeted and comprehensive actions across the health sector
The report outlines 40 actions across the health sector for governments to take, drawing on the latest evidence from academic studies as well as consultations with countries and civil society, including organizations representing persons with disabilities. These actions vary by resource level and range from addressing physical infrastructure to training of health and care workers.

Ensuring health equity for persons with disabilities will also have wider benefits and can advance global health priorities in 3 ways:

health equity for all is critical towards achieving universal health coverage;
inclusive public health interventions that are administered equitably across different sectors can contribute to healthier populations; and
advancing health equity for persons with disabilities is a central component in all efforts to protect everyone in health emergencies.
“Addressing health inequities for persons with disabilities benefits everyone,” said Dr Bente Mikkelsen, WHO Director for Noncommunicable Diseases. “Older persons, people with noncommunicable diseases, migrants and refugees, or other frequently unreached populations, can benefit from approaches that target the persistent challenges to disability inclusion in the health sector.”

She added: “We urge governments, health partners and civil society to ensure all health sector actions are inclusive of persons with disabilities so that they can enjoy their right to the highest standard of health.”

Mliswa Humiliated

Tinashe Sambiri|There was a heated argument between CCC MP for Kuwadzana Hon Johnson Matambo and controversial Norton legislator Temba Mliswa in Parliament on Tuesday.

This was after the Norton MP had attempted to attack CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa accusing him of “clinging to vehicles he obtained during the GNU era.”

Mliswa claimed President Chamisa was interfering with Parliamentary affairs ( regarding the 40 000 USD loan facility.)

Proceedings came to a standstill as Hon Matambo and Mliswa clashed over the matter.

Hon Matambo then exposed Mliswa’s corrupt shenanigans including land scams and cattle scandals.

“You don’t have the right to attack someone in his absence. We know what you did, you were involved in land scams and cattle scandals.

You don’t have the moral obligation to denounce President Chamisa in his absence,” Hon Matambo told Mliswa.

The controversial Mliswa was reduced to size as the CCC MP exposed the former’s chequered political career.

President Chamisa Blames Mnangagwa For Power Crisis

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has blamed Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s dysfunctional administration for the power crisis in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe has been hit by massive load shedding with the country’s towns and cities experiencing a frustrating 22- hr power outage daily.

According to President Chamisa, the load shedding is a result of a dysfunctional government.

See President Chamida’s full statement on the power crisis in the country…

OUR NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE ENERGY PLAN
Zimbabwe currently has a national electrification rate of 42%. While electricity has reached 83% of the urban households, rural electrification is still around 13% as per the National Energy Policy of 2012 (as per last updated stats)

Our estimated electricity demand is 2300 MW against actual generation of below 1100 MW. The current output of 1100 MW is not sufficient to guarantee support for a rapid economic growth programme.

The supplies are fraught with persistent outages. In addition, there are significant electricity losses as a consequence of aged and inefficient transmission and distribution networks.

The country has an installed capacity of about 2,300 MW, with Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), a generation subsidiary of ZESA, owning around 95% of this. More than 50% of electricity is generated from hydropower power while the remainder is from thermal power plants.

Bagasse, mini hydropower and small sized grid connected solar systems have an installed capacity of a paltry figure of less than 150MW. Against this background, the actual power generation capacity in 2022 averaged below 1100MW against a peak demand of about 1800MW

The limited generation capacity is attributed to human capital capacity &quality of mgmt due to corruption & cronyism at our utilities, poor financing, water wastage &availability at Kariba, old equipment which needs rehabilitation &limited coal availability &clean energy issues.

A New Great Zimbabwe economy needs to be driven by clean, and sustainable energy sources that will achieve net-zero by 2050 &also ensure a decarbonised economy. The Citizens gvt will expand installed generation to at least 4,2 mw by 2029 which we estimate will cost $4.33 billion

Current energy policies overlook the need for improving the share of renewable energy in the overall energy mix. It’s just not prudent to use a hydropower station like Kariba which was designed mainly for peaking power, as a base load power station.

Zimbabwe should focus on driving cost-effective implementation of sustainable energy sources, social upliftment through community involvement, gender equality and employment generation.

The renewable energy sector in Zimbabwe should consist of solar, hydro, wind, geothermal and biomass (which includes bagasse (sugarcane based), biogas, forestry and sawmill waste) all of which have barely been fully exploited.

Zimbabwe has vast renewable energy resources that are presently underutilised. Our Citizens’ Government will prioritise a clean energy investment that will make power shortages, load shedding and the current dark age a thing of the past

We will lead in the setting of targets for renewable energy based on the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) interventions submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

demand-supply scenario, grid absorption capacity, and the economic viability of our utilities to pay for renewable energy electricity from independent power producers (IPPs).

We will promote sustainable Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) for small hydropower, biomass, and geothermal projects as well as corruption free competitive bidding for solar photovoltaics (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP), wind and other renewable energy sources.

Off-grid energy will be promoted and incentivised to make them a viable option for our Citizens government 100% electrification of Zimbabwe by 2035.

We will address the socio-economic areas in our energy policies to include affordability &accessibility of energy from renewable sources, employnt opportunities, diversity & inclusion especially gender equity, and food security, and improved access to basic facilities.

Our FIVE POINT PLAN for Energy is informed by the suffering of our citizens due to the lack of sufficient energy to carry on with our economic activities. We plan .

to pursue sustainable energy for all and to mobilize action from all sectors of society in support of

three interlinked objectives to be achieved by 2027: providing universal access to modern energy services; doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix in Zimbabwe .
to expand generation by modernising our existing power plants through life extension technologies that are smart and green by 2027.

to build an energy efficiency revolution that creates an energy surplus by encouraging demand side management, energy efficiency and optimal use of our water resources in our hydropower generation systems dispatch and operations

to provide enough project financing and investment for power generation, transmission , distribution and supply systems with an emphasis on rural development and urbanization as well as install ethical, competent and professional human capital to run our utilities

to source through the private sector the sum of USD 300 million dollars that is required to modernise our grid. Zimbabwe’s transmission infrastructure is archaic. We will allow private players in the form of independent
power producers (IPPs)

We will implement sustainable energy development based on scientific &engineering studies that will continuously launch projects for solar power, energy Internet, carbon Capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS), nuclear, energy storage, hydrogen &total electrification of our country

Decades of lack of investment in energy infrastructure, visionary leadership, planning and corruption now haunting us. Averting a problem is always cheaper than treating it. We have the answers! We will make Our ZIMBABWE New and Great! We’re ready. #RegisterToVoteZW

CCC Alternative To Power Crisis

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says the prolonged load shedding is unacceptable.

Zimbabwe is grappling with a 22-hr load shedding daily.

This, according to CCC, is a sign of Zanu PF failure.

Below is CCC’s statement on the deepening power crisis in Zimbabwe:

ENERGY SOLUTION: CCC believes in building a sustainable environment and prioritising the use of clean energy & this will be achieved through offering various incentives for individuals & businesses to use and invest in renewable energy. Vote for Change, Vote CCC for an interrupted electricity supply.

22 hour load shedding is unacceptable.

A @CCCZimbabwe Govt will:

Modernize our transmission infrastructure
Build more hydro-power stations
Rehabilitate Hwange power stations
Open up the energy sector to independent producers .

Addo Speaks On Black Stars Future

Former Ghana coach Otto Addo says football followers in the West African country should not expect their national team to win anything soon once a new coach has been appointed.

Addo resigned as the Black Stars’ head coach after the team’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the group stages.

Ghana suffered a 3-2 defeat in their opening match against Portugal before picking a 3-2 win over South Korea. The team then succumbed to a 2-0 loss versus Uruguay that ended their World Cup campaign.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, as cited by FootballGhana.com, Addo said the fans should not expect any silverware to allow the incoming coach to focus on football development.

The gaffer said: “When a new coach comes, I’ll expect that he is given the chance to develop and to allow the team to grow.

“Sometimes, it takes losses to grow and the best sportsmen have learned to turn their failures into success stories.

“I have difficulties in putting pressure on young players. Everyone knows that we have a good team that, hopefully, if we continue developing would get better. But we should not expect anything today because development is a process and takes time,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Mudzuri Slams Mwonzora

By A Correspondent

MDC vice president Elias Mudzuri has blasted his Boss, Douglas Mwonzora, for rigging the party’s internal electoral process.

Mwonzora was recently nominated as the sole MDC Presidential candidate in the party congress due this month.

Mudzuri said he would not contest for any post at the upcoming congress, citing irregularities in the party’s electoral processes.

In a leaked WhatsApp conversation, Mudzuri said he does not agree with the whole process and will only change his stance if the process becomes transparent and democratic.

He said:
Thank you to all members of the MDC family who have expressed their wish that I stand for re-election as second Vice President of the party at the coming 5th congress.

Please take note that I will not submit myself for that election for any position. I will however remain a committed card-carrying member of the party.

I am not in agreement with the process so I stand conflicted to vie for any position until and unless the process becomes transparent and democratic including knowledge of the colligate from ward to province.

Contacted for comment by Tell Zim News, Mudzuri confirmed the development. He said:
I cannot be nominated by the elite members of the party, nominations should start at the grassroots level.
We are 22 years as a party and that is what we have been doing all along.

I cannot be nominated by my friends, that is not what we do as a party.
He said will not leave the party but will remain a card-carrying and loyal member of the party. Said Mudzuri:

I am ashamed of what is happening right now but I cannot run away from the party, I have talked to them and I will continue to talk to them but if they don’t listen, I will remain a card-carrying member as I cannot be part of the leadership which fails to observe the democratic tenets of the party.

I can be nominated for any position in the party and have at some point assumed the leadership of the party as you know when Mr (Morgan) Tsvangirai died, he left me in charge of the party.

Zanu PF Declares 2023 Election Victory

By-Zanu PF said they had already won the 2023 national elections months before the holding of such polls.

The ruling Party justified this by saying that they based on the results of the by-elections held in several wards across the country.

Out of the five wards that were up for grabs, ZANU PF won three while the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa bagged the remainder.
Addressing the media at the ZANU PF headquarters in Harare on Thursday, party National Political Commissar Mike Bimha, said:
ZANU PF participated in the recent by-elections with a clear intent to win in all the wards because there is growing confidence in the way the ruling Party is handling and managing national issues.
The Party has been renewing and creating sustainable relationships with rural and urban communities and generally responding to critical issues that matter to the people around the country.
The broad array of policy initiatives put in place by government since 2018, created a sense of new beginnings and new possibilities for everyone.
The development approach that emphasises local and project-based programmes impact positively on livelihoods both in rural and urban settings resulting in a sense of hope and anticipation.
Bimha said, unlike opposition political parties that rely on “empty rhetoric” ZANU PF has been improving the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans in tangible ways. He said:
The political landscape is changing in favor of ZANU PF for a lot of reasons but most importantly coz other political outfits rely on empty rhetoric at the expense of tangible deliverables resulting in ZANU-PF winning resoundingly improving its share of the vote.
The recent by-election results in Binga, Ward 20, Gweru Urban, Ward 5 and Mberengwa, Ward 28 are a mirror held up to Zimbabweans so they can see the shift of political attitudes in favor of the ruling Party.
This shift is not predicated on some cheap political propaganda but on visible and tangible results of well-planned community and public investment programs throughout the country. No place and No one is being left behind.
The ruling Party’s commitment to dealing with key issues and policy areas at local and national level is unmatched and the public can see for themselves that ZANU PF is not just talking but taking practical steps to address problems that face our communities.
Most communities are able to see and relate to programs being implemented by the ruling Party and evidence of what’s in it for the people is verifiably present for everyone to see.
He said people in urban areas have now realised that opposition parties have nothing to offer, hence ZANU PF’s improved performance in towns and cities. Said Bimha:
What can not be denied today is that people in urban areas now know very clearly that those in control of cities are big at talking but totally incapable of delivering basic services to the people.
We are comfortable as a Party that we did well and we deserve the victory and the improved vote margins.

Chitungwiza Woman Jailed For Marrying Two Men

By- A 29-year-old Chitungwiza woman has been jailed for marrying two men.

The suspect, Thelma Guvakumwe, married her lover under customary marriage while she was still in a monogamous marriage with her first husband.

However, her jail term was commuted to community service after she was initially sentenced to six months in prison.

She will perform 105 hours of community service instead of serving the jail term.

Allegations were that Guvakumwe left her first husband, whom she was legally married to, saying she was pursuing further studies.

The matter came to light after her first husband discovered that Guvakumwe was not at school and had gone on to marry her lover.

Mnangagwa Pays Thugs To Defend Power

By- A Zanu PF senior official has said that Zanu PF uses State institutions to maintain power.

Walter Mzembi, the former party member, said Zanu PF was a “complex” political party.
“Zanu PF is a complex political party whose existence is not voluntary but permanent from cell to Presidency .
Its Members are somehow
” salaried ” empowered ” &
” full-time ” & do politics for a living, volunteers will struggle to take it out,” said Mzembi.
Former Zimbabwe Mirror editor, Innocent Chofamba- Sithole, believes Zanu PF cannot in any way transform the country’s economy.
He argued:
“ZanuPF has struggled since the late 90s, even before opposition formation, or any form of sanctions were introduced, to turn round the economy.
They’ve mobilised massive resources & State institutions to retain power at every election.
But nothing ever changes.
The post-nationalist political movement in Zimbabwe has always coalesced around a charismatic leader who’s clearly in tune with popular aspirations. Morgan Tsvangirai was that man in the previous phase of this struggle. In this generation, it’s @nelsonchamisa, without question.”

ZANU PF Fails To Inspire Its Own Black Cecil Rhodes to Build A Single Railway Line 130yrs Later

By Simba Chikanza | If I was a ZANU PF member, I would restore Cecil John Rhodes’ statue, put it at the shake shake building and tell youths to steal his ideas of conquering the whole of Africa and beyond by building a railway line across the planet, for Rhodes is a Zimbabwean; and I’d concentrate on inspiring our youths so that this nation produces its own black Rhodes who erect railway lines onto the land not to pfumvudzarize the soil like its current useless Nehanda witchcraft worshippers.

Don’t Expect Too Much From New Coach, Addo Tells Black Stars Fans

Mudzuri Tears Into Mwonzora

President Chamisa Offers Alternative To Power Crisis

Zimbabwe has been hit by massive load shedding with the country’s towns and cities experiencing a frustrating 22- hr power outage daily.

According to President Chamisa, the load shedding is a result of a dysfunctional government.

FULL THREAD: Mliswa Says War Vet Leader Persecuted By Mnangagwa Has Died

Sad news as Chairperson Harare North War Veterans District Amos Sigauke has passed away. He was sick and at the time he was arrested for protesting for his welfare was on dialysis. He suffered physically as his legs swelled while he was in cells.

To compound matters, he was accused kunzi vapanduka but kupanduka kwei when all he wanted was his money. Now he dies without getting it. We should understand that each position and role has its own conditions of service and benefits. The same with civil servants.

Civil servants have their own specific conditions. It’s sad that Cde Sigauke has gone this way. Just last season I helped him with some fertiliser at his farm as the authorities didn’t help them.

When they protested they got arrested. How can you do that to your own people seeking for what belongs to them. Fellow compatriots such as JOC should have been able to stop that. Go well gallant son of the soil. Rest in peace. Hamba Kahle.

Zimplats Accused Of Double Standards

Zimbabwe’s leading platinum miner, Zimplats has been accused of double standards and exploitation of local mineral resources with little to no benefit to communities surrounding its investment in Mhondoro, Chegutu and Zvimba.

According to figures seen by ZimEye, Zimplats mining base in Mhondoro contributes 37 percent of the Implats’ total output of 1,7 million ounces of platinum but the surrounding communities remain some of the most impoverished districts in the country.

While Zimplats will proudly report on its corporate social responsibility initiatives in impoverished Zimbabweans communities, such initiative has not had any significant reduction pf poverty across the affected Zimbabwean communities.

“While on the other hand Zimplats holding company in South Africa has allowed its communities to transform and secure themselves socio-economically through allowing them a direct share at the platinum table,” reads a dossier detailing how Zimplats is exploiting Zimbabwean platinum with little benefit.

A dossier leaked to ZimEye shows that the shareholding structure of Implats, the parent company to Zimplats is controlled by South Africa and United States with Zimbabweans having an insignificant stake.

This according to the dossier means, the US$85 million dividend shared in 2021 did not benefit Zimbabwe much compared to the named countries with significant stake.

“Implats’ geographical distribution of beneficial shareholders as at 30 June 2022 will show that the representation of shareholders in Implats is far outweighed in favour of South Africa (47%), USA (22%), Luxembourg (4%), United Kingdon (3%), Singapore (3) Canada (2%). Zimbabwean shareholding is so insignificant that does not appear anywhere in its own right,” reads part of the dossier.

“In a rare event in June 2021 Zimplats declared dividend amounting to US$85,000,000. If the communities around Zimplats had been allowed to acquire their 10% as committed to by Zimplats in December 2011, then those communities would have carried a US$8,500,000 smile all the way to the bank.

“That amount, from just one year’s dividend, is far more than any corporate social responsibility Zimplats has socially invested in those same communities during 2020 or 2021,” further reads the dossier.

In 2021 Zimplats produced and delivered to Implats 579 000 ounces of platinum while its mines in other jurisdictions contributed less than half of the Zimbabwe subsidiary. Implats Canada produced 260 000 ounces, Marula, Two Rivers and Mimosa contributed 231 000, 300 000 261 000 ounces respectively.

Business Tips: How To Run A Mining Venture

Court Dismisses Sikhala’s Bid To Have Presiding Magistrate Recused

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Job Sikhala, who is being accused of inciting public violence, had his application for recusal of the magistrate presiding over his case dismissed.

Sikhala, who is being represented by Jeremiah Bhamu, had filed the application citing bias after magistrate Tafadzwa Miti described him as an unrepentant repeat offender.

In a previous ruling, Miti said Bhamu’s submission that Nyatsime, the scene of Sikhala’s alleged crime, was now calm confirmed that Sikhala had committed an offence.

This prompted Bhamu to argue that Miti had already convicted his client before trial and should recuse herself from the case.

In dismissing Sikhala’s application for recusal, Miti said the Zengeza West Member of Parliament had failed to proffer reasonable grounds for her recusal.

Bhamu said he would appeal the ruling at the High Court.

Sikhala’s co-accused Godfrey Sithole, who is being represented by Oliver Marwa, has filed a notice to have their cases separated, arguing that the circumstances for their arrest were different.

Marwa said they would file the application on January 11, 2023, which is the next remand date, if the trial fails to start.

Sithole, Sikhala and 14 other Nyatsime residents are being accused of inciting violence following violent skirmishes in June at the funeral wake of murdered CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

Sithole and the Nyatsime 14 are out on bail after spending several months in remand prison. Sikhala faces a separate charge of obstruction of justice, and has been denied bail nine times.

Maid Cuts Own Neck, Face &Thighs, Stages Fake Robbery

By A Correspondent- A 19 year old Masvingo housemaid was arrested on Saturday after she allegedly connived with her brother-in-law to stage-manage a robbery in order to steal US$200 and R500 from her employer.

The housemaid, Takudzwa Mutero cut her face, neck, thighs, and stomach to convince her employer that she had been robbed and indecently assaulted.

Police said Mutero planned the “robbery” with her brother-in-law, Connellias Mupfumi, aged 46.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson, Detective Assistant Inspector Rachel Muteweri, confirmed the arrest. She said:

Police detectives arrested a housemaid on December 3, 2022, following connivance with her brother-in-law, to steal from her employer.

Circumstances were that on December 1, 2022, the accused person, who was employed as a maid, was left home alone whilst her employer proceeded to work.

She then proceeded to her employer’s bedroom where she stole cash amounting to US$200 and R500 before stage-managing a robbery case by breaking some water glasses and ransacking the whole house.

Upon return from work, the employer was shocked to discover her maid lying helplessly on the floor with cuts on the cheek, stomach and neck.

She inquired what had transpired and only to be told that the accused person had been robbed, stabbed by a knife and indecently assaulted by a lone robber.

She quickly reported the matter to the police who attended the scene and referred the accused person for medical examination.

However, investigations conducted by the police indicated that the woman had staged the robbery incident. Added Det Ass Insp Muteweri:

Further investigations unearthed that the accused person had inflicted lacerations on her body in her quest to further their criminal enterprise and managed to convince her employer that she had been robbed.

She had already handed over the loot to her sister’s husband.

The accused person led detectives to her rural home in Gutu where her co-accused was arrested and the stolen money was subsequently recovered.

Upon arrest, Connellias was also found in possession of dagga.

The suspects appeared before Masvingo Magistrate, Concepta Ngwerume, where they were convicted and sentenced to twelve months imprisonment each for the theft charges.

Connellias was further fined a $20 000 fine for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. | H-Metro

Govt Gifts War Veterans With Mining Concessions

Government has handsomely rewarded war veterans by availing mining concessions to them to ostensibly boost its chances of turning the mining sector into a US$12 billion industry.

The development was announced by Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-Cabinet media briefing in the capital on Tuesday.

“Cabinet received and adopted sundry updates of the mining sector as presented by the minister of Mines and Mining Development, Winston Chitando. The sundry update is towards the US$12 billion mining industry,” Mutsvangwa said

“Cabinet also approved a number of special grant applications in the following categories, extension to current special grants which have suddenly been exploited, empowerment of war veterans mining syndicates and strategic development and expansion projects towards the US$12 billion milestones.”

After President Emmerson Mnangagwa indicated a few months ago that war veterans would play a crucial mobilisation role for Zanu-PF ahead of the 2023 elections, many believe the mining concessions being doled out could be a thank you in advance.

The ruling party recently formed a new wing, the war veterans’ league, to strengthen and broaden its campaign strategies ahead of the polls.

Mnangagwa, who has been endorsed as the Zanu-PF presidential candidate, is expected to square off against Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa, whom he narrowly beat in the disputed 2018 elections.

The 1970s liberation war fighters appear to have cornered Mnangagwa after demanding that he also approves “commensurate benefits”, including loan guarantees and rebates for duty-free car imports before they can back his 2023 re-election bid.

A few months ago, government announced that 160 000 war collaborators had been successfully vetted and were eligible to receive their pay-outs after missing out in the 1997 first round of disbursements.

Extortion Accused CIO Convicted

A Central Intelligence Organisation officer accused of extorting two vehicles from a land developer on the pretext that he would provide personal security services to him was yesterday convicted after a full trial.

Nesbert Chinoputsa was remanded to today for sentencing by Harare magistrate Noticia Shenje.

The court heard that Chinoputsa coerced Brian Michael Jackson to give him a Mazda B2200 truck and a Nissan Bluebird sedan to secure his protection  following  unusual and suspicious incidents at the complainant’s workplace and residence.

During trial he, however, denied the charge saying the State witnesses’ evidence was unreliable.

But the State led by Shambadzeni Fungura told the court that Chinoputsa instilled fear in Jackson, which resulted in him surrendering the vehicles under duress.

Shenje ruled that the State had proved a prima facie case against the CIO agent.

The court heard that in 2019, Chinoputsa was asked by Jackson to provide personal security services.

Chinoputsa instilled fear in Jackson by telling him that some people wanted to kill him. He told Jackson to surrender a car for security operations that would prevent recurrence of the unusual events.

In October 2020 and out of fear, Jackson y gave Chinoputsa a Madza B2200 truck  registration ADF 0841.

A month later, Chinoputsa demanded another car and was given a Nissan Bluebird sedan with no registration plates.

On January 7, 2022, Jackson reported the extortion, leading to recovery of the cars at Chinoputsa’s residence in Kuwadzana Extension.

Nguwaya Honoured for Innovation

The Zimbabwe Integrated Traders Association yesterday gave prominent businessman Dilesh Nguwaya a special Business Innovation Award.

The award is in recognition of his leading role in the Pomona Waste Management Project.

The project is a brainchild of the Government of Zimbabwe working through the Ministry of Local Government and Public works in collaboration with international stakeholders.

The idea behind the project is to promote the sustainable management for waste within the City of Harare and encourage adherence to the prescribed hierarchy of Waste management.

Nguwaya receiving the award from Russian Ambassador Nikolai Krasilnikov

This project gained its prominence as a mitigation measure to the current waste management challenges faced by the City of Harare.

An inspection of the Pomona Dumpsite presented a scenario where without any interventions, Harare was going to end up being characterized by garbage dumping sites all over the city.

The ZITA Awards ceremony was graced by the Russian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ambassador Nikolai Krasilnikov who commended the organizers for recognizing various players whose function to the economy is to demonstrate that Zimbabwe is genuinely open for Business.

Speaking after receiving the award Nguwaya said;

“The illustrious, game-changing emergence of the new waste management into will change the face of public service delivery in the country. The project is an outgrowth of the Government’s openness to innovations. Therefore, this award is not mine as an individual, but it is a special token present through me in respect to a broader agenda which Geo Pomona is promoting in line with the visionary cause of the Second Republic in creating an upper-middle class income economy by 2030.

“I also dedicate this award to the rest of my team that has seen Geo Pomona Waste Management survive the odds to deliver a once in a lifetime service to the people of Zimbabwe. The award is a timely motivation,” said Nguwaya.

Chamisa Outlines His Govt’s Energy Plan

By Nelson Chamisa| Fellow Africans Zimbabwe currently has a national electrification rate of 42%. While electricity has reached 83% of the urban households, rural electrification is still around 13% as per the National Energy Policy of 2012. Our Citizens Government will power every home and household. We will power and empower communities.

Our estimated electricity demand is 2300 MW against actual generation of 1100 MW.

Against this background, the actual power generation capacity in 2022 averaged below 1000MW against a peak demand of about 1800MW.

The limited generation capacity is attributed to human capital capacity and quality of management due to corruption and cronyism at our utilities, poor financing, water wastage and availability at Kariba Power Station , old equipment which needs rehabilitation and limited coal availability and clean energy issues.

A New Great Zimbabwe economy needs to be driven by clean, and sustainable energy sources that will achieve net-zero by 2050 and also ensure a decarbonised economy. The Citizens government recognises the importance of expanding installed generation to at least 4,2 mw by the year 2029 which we estimate will cost 4.33 billion USD.

Current energy policies overlook the need for improving the share of renewable energy in the overall energy mix and addressing issues of Climate Mitigation and Adaptation in this era of climate change. It is not prudent to use a hydropower station like Kariba which was designed mainly for peaking power, as a base load power station.

Our Citizens’ Government will prioritise a clean energy investment that will make power shortages, load shedding and the current dark age a thing of the past .

We will lead in the setting of targets for renewable energy based on the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) interventions submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), demand-supply scenario, grid absorption capacity, and the economic viability of our utilities to pay for renewable energy electricity from independent power producers (IPPs).

We will address the socio-economic areas in our energy policies to include affordability and accessibility of energy from renewable sources, employment opportunities, diversity and inclusion especially gender equity, and benefits to children, youth participation, food security, and improved access to basic facilities.

Our FIVE POINT PLAN for Energy is informed by the suffering of our citizens due to the lack of sufficient energy to carry on with our economic activities. We plan .

a)to pursue sustainable energy for all and to mobilize action from all sectors of society in support of three interlinked objectives to be achieved by 2027: providing universal access to modern energy services; doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix in Zimbabwe .

b) to expand generation by modernising our existing power plants through life extension technologies that are smart and green by 2027.

c) to build an energy efficiency revolution that creates an energy surplus by encouraging demand side management, energy efficiency and optimal use of our water resources in our hydropower generation systems dispatch and operations.

d) to provide enough project financing and investment for power generation, transmission , distribution and supply systems with an emphasis on rural development and urbanization as well as install ethical, competent and professional human capital to run our utilities.

e)to source through the private sector the sum of USD 300 million dollars that is required to modernise our grid. Zimbabwe’s transmission infrastructure is archaic. We will allow private players in the form of independent
power producers (IPPs)

We will implement a sustainable energy development based on scientific and engineering studies that will continuously launch projects for solar power, energy Internet, carbon Capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS), nuclear, energy storage, hydrogen and total electrification of our country

Decades of lack of investment in energy infrastructure, visionary leadership, planning now haunting us. Corruption is killing us. Averting a problem is always cheaper than treating it. We have the answers! We will make Our ZIMBABWE New and Great! We’re ready.

‘Mahere Crush’ Dragged To Court Over Social Media Remarks

By A Correspondent| A Medical Doctor Lenon Gwaunza who once grabbed headlines for asking CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere out has been dragged to court after he failed to withdraw alleged defamatory social media posts where he described a fellow doctor and his qualifications as dubious.

Gwaunza allegedly claimed top neurologist Andrew Mataruse had dubious qualifications in a letter to the Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe which were later found to be baseless.

As a result of the defamatory posts, Gwaunza was served with a letter of demand in the sum of US$100 000.

Mataruse is one of the specialist physician practicing clinical neurology and internal medicine in Zimbabwe and has many post graduate qualifications including Med Medicine(UZ), Fellow College of Physicians (Eastern Central Southern Africa College of Physicians), Master of Science in Clinical Neurology (University College London), Specialist Certificate in Clinical neurology (Royal College of Physicians) and Fellow of the European Board Neurology.

He supervised and mentored Gwaunza during his senior registrar year of 2020 after being duly appointed to do so by the Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe.

Four months after being registered as a specialist physician in July 2021, Gwaunza allegedly wrote to the Medical council castigating Mataruse’s standing on academic qualifications and suitability to have supervised him.

Mataruse through his lawyer Admire Rubaya said the defamation is “reckless, unprovoked, incessant, malicious, false and insincere in that it is aimed at his own supervisor under whose supervision and by virtue of whose qualifications he became a specialist.”

Mataruse through his lawyers including Thabani Mpofu has since commenced action against Gwaunza seeking “Payment of the sums of US$30 000, US$30 000 and US$ 40 000 respectively being damages for defamation.

“Interest on the sums set out above reckoned from the date of summons to the date of payment in full.

“An order mandating defendant to pull down the defamatory material from all the social media sites on which he has posted them.

“An order directing defendant to issue an unconditional apology to plaintiff
“Costs of suit such costs to include the costs of two counsel.”

In a letter to Gwaunza recently, Mataruse and his lawyers said Gwaunza was malicious in making the claims.

“On or about 8 July, 2021 you wrote a letter to the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe (herein after called “the MDPCZ”) wherein you questioned our client’s neurology qualifications and called them dubious.

“We are further advised that you made serious allegations that our client is an imposter who was misrepresenting, to the generality of patients and colleagues in the medical fraternity, that he is a Neurologist.

“In essence, you maliciously and falsely claimed that our client is a fraudster in circumstances where you knew very well that our client is adequately qualified to be called a neurologist.

“The above statements are not only defamatory and untrue but same are very malicious,” Mataruse’s lawyer Admire Rubaya wrote.

Mataruse is a specialist doctor with several qualifications but Gwaunza allegedly took his allegations to Twitter.

“Further, you have reiterated your defamatory remarks through your Twitter handle, @lgwaunza, in particular, on 20th August, 2021 wherein you seriously quizzed our client’s qualifications and demeaned his ability to practice as a neurologist.

“The widely published tweets that you posted have global reach and they have seriously damaged his major asset which is goodwill and trading brand. Put differently, the publications of the various statements which you made about questionable medical qualifications are malicious and injurious.

“Our client’s reputation has been severely damaged which has consequently had a negative impact on his cliental base. As you are obviously aware, as a specialist in Zimbabwe, our client relies on referrals from fellow colleagues and other medical professionals all of which is hinged on good and reliable reputation. Our client has the real risk of incurring quantifiable financial losses.

“Our client advises us that he is now on the verge of losing many lucrative contracts as the various publications have cast him in a bad light,” his lawyer wrote.

Mataruse holds several qualifications and he supervised Gwaunza for him to be a specialist and according to his lawyer, him questioning Mataruse’s qualifications is self destructive as he is called specialist by virtue of supervision by a person whom he labels dubious.

“When you made those false allegations, you knew very well that our client had successfully supervised and mentored you on attitude, knowledge and clinical neurology for the whole year of 2020 whilst you were working at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals (PGH) (Neurology Clinic, Medical wards and Stroke Unit),” the letter added.

The Medical and Dental Profession Council of Zimbabwe had since exonerated Mataruse from the allegations raised against him by Gwaunza with a letter dated August 1 2022 from the registrar Josephine Mwakutuya clearing him.

“Regarding the allegations of dubious qualifications, be advised that your qualifications were duly assessed by Council through the Education and Liaison Committee of Council which approved the qualifications as recognized additional qualifications that warrant specialist registration as a Neurologist.

“Regarding the issue of you being an unqualified supervisor, Council indeed appointed you as a qualified supervisor to supervise a Senior Registrar based on your competence,” the letter read.

Mataruse wants Gwaunza to retract his statements to the same board he wrote to.

“. . .our instructions are to demand, as we hereby do, the publication of a full, unconditional and unreserved withdrawal of these defamatory statements and the related imputations together with an expression of – regret on the same within forty eight (48) hours of receiving this letter as well as a letter of regret to the MDPCZ Council withdrawing all the allegations you have raised against him,” his lawyer wrote.

PLAAS Hosts A National Policy Dialogue On Women’s Land Rights In Zimbabwe

HARARE, 06 DECEMBER 2022.

The Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), in collaboration with the Platform for Youth and Community Development (PYCD), held a policy dialogue in Zimbabwe on 2nd December 2022 to disseminate research findings from the project,

‘The privatisation of customary land and its implications for women’s tenure security and
livelihoods,’ which was launched in December 2020 and is being led by Dr Phillan Zamchiya, a Senior Researcher at PLAAS.

The policy dialogue was attended by 16 policymakers, including Mrs Ropafadzo
Pazvakavamba, the Deputy Director of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, who gave the keynote address.

Other participants were Mr Blessing Mamvosha, Chief Executive Officer for Chipinge Rural District Council, Chief Zvironzo Kondo from Chipinge, Hon. Temba Mliswa, independent MP for Norton, and Hon Joannah Mamombe, representing the Parliamentary Committee on land, as well as civil society actors from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Zimbabwe Land and Agrarian Network, and Mr Freedom Mazwi from the Sam Moyo African Institute of Agrarian Studies (SMIAS).

Presenting the research findings, Dr Zamchiya highlighted the extent to which customary land is being formalised in Africa. He stated that between 1990 and 2018, 33 new land laws were enacted in sub-Saharan Africa, most focused on customary land rights. At the time, the argument for formalisation is that it improved tenure security and women’s access to land.

However, the results from the research carried out in Chipinge District, where the state is
acquiring customary land for urban development, showed that women are left worse off in the face of formalisations than when they live on traditional land. The research was conducted in Munyokowere, Mahachi and Kondo villages as well as Checheche Growth Point, located in the Lowveld of Chipinge District. Researchers reached 117 women and 39 men through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs). The researchers also administered 100 questionnaires for quantitative data.

The key finding is that the privatisation of customary land in Zimbabwe increases poverty by leaving people homeless, affecting women and children the most. He shared the following results:

Colonial-era master plans used to dispossess Zimbabweans
● In Munyokowere, the local state had continued to rely on the colonial-era developmental
master plans of the 1950s to evict families. The authorities also made socially legitimate
claims over land spanning from their dispossession by the brutal Rhodesian colonial
state.
● In Mahachi, the local state uses urban development plans anchored on the 1982
National Transitional Development Plan (NTD). Checheche was Gazetted by the
Government in 1982, with an initial total of 1 055 hectares. However, the plan has not
been implemented since then, and the current land occupants have been tenured “in
good faith.”
● The old plan has now been updated to make Checheche a ‘new city’ covering about 2
203 hectares.
● The vision of a new city was shared by the local MDC and ZANU PF councillors.
● They complained that the central government was taking up to nine years to respond to
applications to authorise the development of rural service centres, which at times
entailed the conversion of communal land to state-owned land.

Dispossessed families not being compensated or resettled

● The state was relentless in its bid to evict the poor and vulnerable without paying
adequate attention to their resettlement.
● Families in Munyokowerereceived a letter from the Chipinge Rural District Council
(CRDC) dated 1 September 2020.

It stated that:
‘The land you have been occupying for some time now is within the Chipangayi
Rural Service Centre under the administration of Chipinge Rural District
Council… Consequently you are advised to remove the illegal structure and
vacate at your own cost within 90 days but in any event not later than the 13th of
December 2020’.
● The CRDC encouraged Munyokowere villagers to apply for a stand but were reminded
the decision was at the Council’s ‘sole discretion.’
● As a result of these evictions, community members’ lives were worse, and some have
lost their lives. Customary land has been commodified as a result of these actions by the
government.

The government’s view

In her keynote speech and in response to these research findings, Mrs Pazvakavamba
described the Zimbabwean agrarian structure as comprising small, medium and large farms, all under different forms of land ownership. The government was, therefore, developing a national land policy that would ensure that all tenure systems supported women’s land rights through joint land ownership.

What other stakeholders had to say
The Hon. Mliswa said that women living on communal land are supposed to be protected by
various land laws and the constitution, but there is not enough enforcement. He added that
Section 8 of the constitution states that people occupy and use communal land with the consent of the local rural district council. In giving such consent, the local authority must have regard to customary law and must consult and cooperate with the chief for the area.

Modern laws must respect Zimbabwe’s traditional customs, and the privatisation of customary land should be done under the purview of traditions and customs.

In addition, Mr Mazwi from SMAIAS said over 100,000 landholders have either been threatened with eviction or have been evicted from their customary lands. He said efforts by the government to lure foreign investment pose serious challenges to communities.

According to Hon. Joanah Mamombe, MP for Harare West, women are the most affected by gender-based violence in privatisation processes and need legal protection.

Mutape Zvironzo Kondo, a traditional leader, concurred with the finding that women are the
most affected in the event of privatisation of customary land. She added that the most affected are single mothers, widows and young women.

Mr Blessing Mamvosha urged all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the local
authorities, as well as the wider community, to prioritise dialogue in addressing the challenge of the privatisation of communal land.

Following discussions and deliberations, the participants made the following recommendations:

  1. Zimbabwe needs to adopt a gender-sensitive land policy;
  2. Women need to be equally represented in decision-making institutions on land governance;
  3. The government must issue tenure documents to landholders in Zimbabwe;
  4. The Traditional Leaders Act and Communal Land Act needs to be aligned with the
constitution to ensure that traditional leaders have the authority to protect women’s tenure
    rights;
  5. Civil society should use litigation or all other means to ensure that the government enforces the laws that support women’s tenure rights;
  6. Graves should stand as a title deed in customary lands since it confirms ownership and
    usage of land since time immemorial;
  7. Stakeholder engagement and collective responsibility should be embraced when addressing land matters; and
  8. The government should issue private title deeds to farmers for land to be a bankable asset.

Way forward

Following the deliberations, Dr Zamchiya stated that as a way forward, PLAAS was finalising a documentary that amplifies the women’s experiences in their voices. The research team would also return to the study sites to present the findings for the communities to validate them as a true reflection of their experiences. Given the regional context of the research, PLAAS would also hold a regional conference to share lessons across the four countries in which the project is being undertaken.

The outcome of these dialogues will be a regional framework that will be debated at the SADC and AU levels. PLAAS is already contributing to the African Union’s Agenda 2063 through its partnerships with the African Land Policy Centre. Dr Zamchiya thanked all the participants for their input and emphasised the need for the harmonisation of law and practice and the alignment of all pieces of legislation. Finally, he stressed the importance of the UN principle of Free, Prior and Informed Consent in all development projects.

Read more about the study on the PLAAS website here.

The dialogue was held by PLAAS in partnership with PYCD and with financial support from
the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of the Austrian Development
Cooperation (ADC). We would like to thank ADC for their financial support, however, these
views are entirely our own.

Magistrate Vows To Sink Sikhala

By- Harare magistrate has refused to recuse herself from CCC legislator Job Sikhala’s case.

Mrs Tafadzwa Miti is the magistrate presiding over a matter wherein the CCC deputy chairman is accused of inciting public violence in the Nyatsime area sometime in June.

Sikhala, through lawyer Mr Jeremiah Bamu, had applied for Mrs Miti’s recusal saying she had formulated a position towards him in the ruling dismissing his bail application in changed circumstances.

Mrs Miti said Sikhala’s fears emanated from grounds surrounding the dismissal of his bail application on changed circumstances last week.

She has vowed to impartially preside over the matter, saying the trial’s outcome will be based on evidence adduced during the trial.

Sikhala is jointly charged with fellow CCC legislator Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole on incitement to commit public violence.

The two are expected back in court on January 11 next year.

Mudzuri Confronts Mwonzora Over Pre-rigging Congress

By- MDC vice president Elias Mudzuri has confronted the party leader Douglas Mwonzora, accusing him of rigging the party’s internal electoral process.

Contacted for comment to Tell Zim News, Mudzuri confirmed the development.

Former Chinese Leader Dies

By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has paid his condolences to the People’s Republic of China following the death of former President Jiang Zemin.

Zemin died on the 30th of November.

Mnangagwa Monday visited the Chinese Embassy in Harare this Monday to sign a condolences book.

He was accompanied by Vice President General (Retired) Constantino Chiwenga and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Ambassador Fredrick Shava.

Mnangagwa said Zemin was instrumental in cementing the existing relations between Zimbabwe and China. ZBC News cites him as saying:

I am deeply saddened by the death of the former President of the People’s Republic of China H.E Cde Jiang Zemin. In Cde Jiang Zemin, China and indeed the progressive world, have lost a great Stateman and accomplished international diplomat who contributed to the greater cooperation between China and the international community. I personally have fond memories of my personal interaction with the late Cde Jiang Zemin in 1996, when he paid a visit to Zimbabwe on a State visit and I was assigned by the late President R. G. Mugabe to accompany him. The visit was successful and cemented the excellent relations we enjoy today between the Republic of Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China. May I once again express my deepest condolences to the people of the People’s Republic of China and the family of Cde Jiang Zemin on this loss.

Zemin served as General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party from 1989 to 2002, as Chairperson of the Military Commission from 1989 to 2004 and as President of China from 1993 to 2003.

Chinese state media said the 89-year-old succumbed to leukaemia and multiple organ failure in Shanghai.

Jiang had faded from public sight and last appeared publicly alongside current and former leaders atop Beijing’s Tiananmen gate at a 2019 military parade celebrating the party’s 70th anniversary in power.

He was absent from a major party congress last month where former leaders are given seats in recognition of their service.

Mzembi Reveals Zanu PF Shenanigans

Tinashe Sambiri|Former Zanu PF stalwart Walter Mzembi has revealed how Zanu PF uses State institutions to maintain a firm grip on power.

According to Mzembi, Zanu PF is a “complex” political party.

Ronaldo Replacement Shines

Goncalo Ramos netted a magnificent hat-trick after being named as Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock replacement to inspire Portugal to a 6-1 World Cup romp against Switzerland.

Portugal boss Fernando Santos sprung a huge surprise by leaving the leading goalscorer in history of international football on the bench. A 21-year-old making his first international start promptly stole the show and booked a quarterfinal showdown with Morocco.

Ramos violently crashed a 17th-minute shot into the top corner before a man 18 years his senior, veteran centre-back Pepe, become the second-oldest goalscorer at the World Cup behind Cameroon great Roger Milla.

There was nothing backward looking or nostalgic about this Portugal side, though, as Ramos and Raphael Guerriero put the game to bed early in the second half. After Manuel Akanji, one of Switzerland’s bedraggled defenders, pulled one back, Ramos secured the matchball and substitute Rafael Leao rifled home a show-stopping sixth.- The Sporting News

Morocco Shock Spain

Morocco reached the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time, as they ousted former winners Spain on penalties in a gripping Round of 16 game.

The last African side left in World Cup 2022 defended superbly throughout and had two golden chances to win it in extra time — Walid Cheddira twice going close.

It mattered little, though, as Spain failed with their first three spot-kicks in the shootout, leaving Achraf Hakimi to nervelessly convert the decisive kick with an audacious Panenka chip, and send his team through to a meeting with Portugal. – The Sporting News

Mnangagwa “Bribes” Divide Chamisa Aides

By- The US$40 000 loans extended to MPS by the Zanu PF government have divided the Nelson Chamisa-led opposition CCC.

Chamisa last week said that his MPS, who received the “bribes”, had joined corruption.

He said the money was a bribe from the Zanu PF-led government and should be rejected. But his MPs, whose majority got the money, said they would not return it.

CCC Chief Whip in Parliament Prosper Mutseyami defended the party’s MPs, saying the loans are a “genuine part of the MPs’ welfare.” He said:
The suggestion in some quarters that loans are donations is not correct. In the midterm supplementary budget of September 2022 approved, provision was made for a housing or vehicle loan of US$40 000.
This loan was understood as a genuine part of the MPs’ welfare. The loan is therefore not a surprise executive instrument but one that went through the due process of appropriation as is provided in the constitution.
It is not a discretionary issue or an executive gratuitous gesture like the grants granted to ministers and deputy ministers.
In October of 2022, MPs were made to sign binding loan application forms which they executed.
In late November, parliament made partial disbursements of these loans. The loan in question is above board.
Mutseyami, who is the MP for Dangamvura, said it was unfair to compare CCC legislators with those of ZANU PF simply because they accepted the loans. He said:
The loan in question is no excuse for state failure or the deplorable state of public services.
It is no excuse for 42 years of mismanagement and misallocation of public resources. And most certainly the loan cannot bribe or derail our cause.
We therefore reject the equalisation. We are not Zanu, have never been Zanu. We have remained principled and committed.
We have remained unwavering in our quest for transformation and change in our country We have faced dictatorship and its billions of dollars weaponised against our people.
Mutseyami also claimed that MPs are currently earning ZWL$$200 000 “which is equivalent to US$200.” He added:
The new salary remains way below the poverty datum line by a long margin.
It also remains way below the average regional salary of MPs which is US$2 000 even in economies smaller than Zimbabwe or countries such as Kenya and others where MPs are paid around US$13,000 a month.
This is in addition to the provision of constituency offices, and paid research assistance.

CCC MPs Rubbish Chamisa

By- Members of parliament from the opposition CCC have defied their leader, Nelson Chamisa, and denied claims that the government’s US$40 000 loans granted to lawmakers were not donations.

CCC MPs have received a lot of criticism, especially on social media platforms, for taking the loans.
Critics accuse the opposition MPs of joining the “gravy train” saying they are no longer serving the interests of the electorate but their selfish interests.
Even CCC president Nelson Chamisa has criticised his MPs for accepting the loans and warned them that they will be punished by voters.
But CCC Chief Whip in Parliament Prosper Mutseyami defended the party’s MPs, saying the loans are a “genuine part of the MPs’ welfare.” He said:

CCC’s Matambo Embarrasses Mliswa
