Lions Of Teranga Roar Into Round Of 16

Kalidou Koulibaly proved an unlikely matchwinner as Senegal reached the last 16 of the World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Ecuador, who are out of the tournament.

Senegal will now play the winners of Group B – the group which England currently top – on Sunday night.

The Chelsea defender’s superb volleyed winner came only two minutes after Moises Caicedo had pulled Ecuador level from a corner, a result which would have taken the South Americans through in their place.

The African side fully deserved to qualify from their World Cup group for the first time in 20 years, largely in part to a first-half performance where they blew away Ecuador, who came into the match knowing they only needed a point to progress.- Sky Sports

She faces several charges that include money-laundering, and trying to fraudulently upgrade her marriage without Chiwenga’s knowledge.
Mubaiwa was recently acquitted of assault charges.
The State will be represented by George Manokore and Lancelot Mutsokoti.
Mubaiwa had questioned the jurisdiction of the matter which is alleged to have happened in Pretoria, South Africa.
Mtetwa argues that she must be tried in the province or region where the alleged offence was committed, adding that the case lacks jurisdiction.
“The accused contends that from the State’s allegations, the alleged offence was wholly committed outside the borders of Zimbabwe and there is no allegation or other legal contention that the alleged offence had impact or intended impact on Zimbabwe which would clothe the court with the necessary jurisdiction,” Mtetwa said.
Sometime in June 2019, Chiwenga was airlifted to South Africa for medical attention accompanied by Mubaiwa, his security team comprising provincial intelligence officer John Allen Lifa, Major Blessing Muringi, one Major Nyoni and Sergeant Andrew Mugari, as well as medical health staff comprising Warren Sibanda and Health deputy minister John Mangwiro.
On arrival, Mubaiwa allegedly kept Chiwenga at Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria for more than 24 hours without taking him for medical treatment, leading to his health condition deteriorating.
Security forced its way and took the VP to Netcare Hospital, where he was placed under intensive care by one Doctor Sieling.
He had an intravenous giving set and central-venous catherer inserted in his body to sustain his life for weeks in a private ward.

Zimbabwe Exemption Permits Latest

By- A court case in which the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) is challenging the termination of the Zimbabwe exemption permits(ZEP) has been moved to April 2023.

The case was set down for Monday, and will now be heard in April, Times Live said quoting Nicole Fritz the director of the foundation.

Nicole Fritz said a three-bench panel of judges would hear the matter when it resumed. Said, Fritz:

We are disappointed that hearing dates could not be secured earlier in that we are anxious to have the matter heard by the courts and for a just resolution to be determined.

HSF is challenging Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi’s decision to terminate the ZEP on June 30, 2023.

The HSF wants the high court in Pretoria to declare the decision by Motsoaledi to terminate the ZEP — and his limited extension to the permit — unlawful, unconstitutional and invalid.

The application is being opposed by the home affairs minister.

On the case only being heard in 2023, Zimbabwe Immigration Federation chair Luke Dzviti said:

For now it’s not a train smash, I am not really disappointed because we still have a grace period. It’s fine as long as it happens before Zimbabwean nationals who are ZEP holders become illegal immigrants.

Dzviti said they were fine with the home affairs directive which says no one can be arrested or deported.

Mighty Brazil Progress To Round Of 16

A superb finish by Casemiro is enough to give Brazil victory over Switzerland and guarantee a place in the knock-out stages of the football World Cup in Qatar.

Brazil’s coach, Tite, had named nine forwards to his squad, but it took a defensive midfielder to break the scoreless deadlock in the 83rd minute of Monday’s match. Casemiro made an audacious strike from the outside of his boot, which took a tiny deflection off defender Manuel Akanji’s backside.

The result at Stadium 974 means Brazil, five-time world champions, qualify comfortably for the round of 16 with a game against Cameroon still to play in the group stage of the tournament.

Switzerland sit second in Group G after a thrilling six-goal draw between Serbia and Cameroon earlier in the day left both teams with a point each.

Brazil forward Neymar stayed at the team’s hotel, treating a right ankle injury sustained in the opener against Serbia. Team doctors have not yet given a timetable for his return – or said if he will return at all. In his absence, former Watford striker Richarlison took centre stage in Brazil’s attack but couldn’t find a way to score and was substituted for Gabriel Jesus in the 74th minute.

Switzerland managed not a single shot on target but were able to keep Brazil at bay for the majority of the match. The scoreless first half was a fairly even-handed affair.

Vinicius Jr thought he had given Brazil the lead with a shot from inside the area after a pass by Casemiro in the 64th minute, but a video review spotted Richarlison offside in the build-up to the strike.

After Casemiro’s lightning 83rd minute goal, Brazil looked likely to score a second – despite a brief flurried counterattack from the Swiss – as Vinicius Jr tried to take on Akanji when he could have passed. Moments later, he instead fed a ball to Rodrygo, only to see the forward’s shot blocked out for a corner.

Brazil, who have not lost a World Cup group stage game in 17 matches, are the second team to qualify for the round of 16 after defending world champions France.- Al Jazeera

Black Stars Overcome South Korea

AL ARRAYN, Qatar, Nov 28 (Reuters) – Ghana survived a furious late siege of their goal to revive their World Cup chances in a dramatic Group H clash on Monday, holding off South Korea to secure a 3-2 victory that was greeted with as much relief as it was celebration.

The African side earned their first points of the tournament and can still reach the second round on the back of two goals from Mohammed Kudus and desperate defending in a roller-coaster match at the Education City Stadium.

Mohammed Salisu scored the opener and Kudus headed home as Ghana took a 2-0 halftime lead, only to allow South Korea to fight back with two goals in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung, who epitomised his side’s fighting spirit by attacking the ball to head home twice in quick succession.

Ghana snatched back the lead within seven minutes, however, taking advantage of their one chance in the second half for Kudus to deliver the winner.

“It was emotional with the ups and downs. South Korea did very well, pushed and pressed us,” said Ghana coach Otto Addo.

“We were struggling, we wanted to stop the crosses, but we didn’t put enough intensity into stopping the crosses. There was passionate defending and very good goalkeeping … in the end we were a bit lucky.”

MIXED EMOTIONS

Ten minutes of stoppage time only served to heighten the drama, culminating in a contrast of emotions at the final whistle as an exhausted Ghana celebrated and the Koreans were left in tears.

They had fought back in spectacular style, making only one second-half error which ultimately proved costly.

Ghana’s first-half lead was down to two perfect crosses from the left delivered by the right-footed Jordan Ayew – both perfectly weighted and with the requisite pace to catch out the Korean defence.

The first in the 24th minute caused chaos and Salisu snapped up the loose ball to score and the second 10 minutes later found Kudus who glanced a header into the net. – Reuters

Police Name Mwenezi Poison Victims

By- The four Mwenezi villagers who died of suspected chemical poisoning have been identified.

They include a woman, her octogenarian mother, her son-in-law, and a neighbour.

The Herald reports that the four died within two days from suspected chemical poisoning amid fears they might have inhaled a fumigant pesticide used to preserve grain in Chitanga communal lands.

Flora Siziba (56) of Masisinyani village in the Mateke Hills area died last Friday together with her mother Raila Gula (90) at the former’s homestead in a space of a few hours last Friday after the pair allegedly started complaining of severe stomach pains before sweating profusely and vomiting.
Siziba’s neighbour Thomas Ndavani (age not given) who visited her homestead after learning of her tragic death also allegedly died a few minutes after his arrival when he also complained of severe stomach pains before starting to sweat heavily and vomiting.
The bodies of Siziba, her mother and Ndavani’s were taken to Neshuro Hospital for a post-mortem on the same day after police had attended the scene.
However, tragedy struck again on November 26 after Siziba’s son-in-law who stayed at her homestead, Shepherd Mukachana (age not given) also started complaining of stomach pains and was rushed to Gezani clinic where he was treated and discharged together with Siziba’s daughter-in-law one Vimbai Chirelele.
Later on the same day, Mukachana’s condition allegedly deteriorated as he also complained of severe stomach pains before starting to sweat heavily and vomiting. He died around 3pm.
According to police, Chirelele is still in stable condition and recuperating at home.
Mwenezi police have since dispatched a team to Siziba’s homestead to collect Mukachana’s body and for a post-mortem at Neshuro Hospital.
Police said they suspect the deaths were caused by chemical poisoning linked to inhaling a fumigant pesticide though conclusive investigations are still underway.
Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and referred all queries to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

Zanu PF Nolonger Has People On The Ground

Zanu-PF district co-ordinating committee (DCC) elections in Chikomba, Mashonaland East province, failed to take off at the weekend due to a low turnout by district chairpersons.

The elections were meant to elect a new district chairperson following the suspension of Alfred Pedzisa who was accused of insubordination, among a litany of other charges.

Pedzisa has since appeared before a provincial disciplinary hearing where it was recommended that he be relieved of his duties.

Senior party officials said the elections had to be postponed and blamed the low turnout on miscommunication.

“The elections were postponed due to low turnout. We were expecting some chairpersons to be around for a smooth flow of the process, but that was not the case. Maybe there was miscommunication, moreover the agricultural season is now upon us, our members are busy with planting,” said a senior party official who refused to be named.

The provincial leadership also suspended Murewa DCC chairperson Israel Maliki, accusing him of disrespecting village heads.

Zanu-PF Mashonaland East provincial spokesperson Tatenda Mavetera said: “There was miscommunication, it was requested that chairpersons come as observers and they did not understand that, and few came. We have again invited them to come and enhance efficiency and transparency of elections.”

Mnangagwa Unqualified To Speak Of Political Tolerance, Says Musengezi

Controversial Zanu-PF member, Sybeth Musengezi, has once again dragged President Emmerson Mnangagwa over hot coals labelling him a hypocrite, who was unqualified to speak of political tolerance when he presides over persecution of his opponents.

Musengezi rose to infamy after challenging Mnangagwa’s legitimacy in the 2017 coup aftermath, arguing he assumed the presidency through unconstitutional means.

The matter is still pending before the courts.

In his latest affront, Musengezi questioned Mnangagwa’s sincerity in calling on aspiring candidates in 2023 harmonised elections to exercise political tolerance at a time politicians like Zengeza West lawmaker, Job Sikhala are languishing in remand prison.

He also mentioned of the unfair treatment of little-known Perere Kunyenzwa.

He was responding to a report by South African television station, eNCA, that the 80-year-old Zanu-PF leader was urging for political restraint among contestants to ensure peaceful polls.

“What political tolerance is Mnangagwa talking about when Hon Sikhala and Perere Kunyenzwa are languishing in remand prison on political charges,” Musengezi tweeted.

“Opposing voices are being arbitrarily arrested, killed, beaten up, harassed and petrol bombed. Hypocrites indicate right then turn left.”

Sikhala has been in remand prison since June following his arrest on charges of inciting violence that rocked the funeral wake of slain Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) activist, Moreblessing Ali.

Godfrey Sithole and 14 other CCC activists charged alongside Sikhala were recently admitted to bail, a move viewed as persecution of the firebrand opposition politician.

It’s a year, today since Doug Munatsi was found dead and we still don’t know what really happened to him. It’s disturbing that such a high profile figure died under such suspicious circumstances and yet the Gvt cannot account for what happened.

His family deserves to know what happened for closure. I was close to Doug& regarded him as a brother, it’s very disturbing that we remain in the dark. This leads to conspiracy theories& unhealthy speculations. Answers should be given on what happened.

‘Unexplainable’ Harare Accident Breaks The Internet

A traffic accident that happened in Harare at the corner of Seke and Diepe Road has shocked Zimbabweans who are failing to understand what caused the accident.

According to ZBC News Online, the accident involved 11 cars including an Isuzu pick-up truck that landed on top of a Honda Fit which collided with a bus and another Honda Fit Wagon.

With the accident pictures circulating on social media, there is no explanation on what could have caused the accident and the cars ended up like they are appearing on the widely circulated images.

There is a general suspicion though that most accidents on Zimbabwean roads are caused by Honda Fit, mythically believed to be one of the strongest cars around.

Women Turn To ZGC Over Magaya

By A Correspondent- A number of women who were allegedly sexually abused by Walter Magaya have responded to the call made by the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) for them to make submissions, according to The Herald.

The leader of the Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries church is accused of sexually abusing several women and girls.

Speaking during a recent press briefing on the preliminary findings of the national inquiry on sexual exploitation and abuse of young girls and child marriages, ZGC chairperson Commissioner Margaret Mukahanana-Sangarwe said:

There have been some complainants that have come through but we can not share at the moment how many they are.

We have had some responses in terms of some people coming forward and we are still waiting for more responses. We will inform you as we get more responses from the complainants.

Investigations into allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse of women by Magaya started last month, according to ZGC.

Previously the probe had been halted in 2019 after Magaya filed an urgent application at the High Court questioning the validity of the investigations.

However, the courts ruled in favour of the Commission paving way for the continuance of the probe.

The Commission is still calling on members of the public who might have complaints against the clergyman to come to present their grievances.

Magistrate In No Show As Mahere Awaits Judgement On ‘Publishing Falsehoods’ Case

Judgement in a case Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere is accused of publishing falsehoods has been postponed for the fourth time.

The presiding magistrate Taurai Manuwere was in no show Monday and no explanation was given for his failure to turn up.

This became the fourth time progress stalled since the State closed its case in August this year.

Mahere said this is disappointing.

“Its only in Zimbabwe you get arrested and jailed for tweeting against police brutality. We applied for discharge at the close of the State case in August…

“The magistrate did not show up. We were advised to come back on 8 Dec at 11.15am. No reason was given for his non-attendance. Last time, we were advised the matter had been mis-diarised and the ruling wasn’t ready. This is the 4th time we’ve attended and judgment isn’t ready,” she complained.

It has been two years after Mahere‘s arrest, with prosecution having dragged due to non-cooperation of State witnesses.

Mahere is accused of publishing falsehoods in a case involving a woman whose child was erroneously reported to have been struck and killed by a baton wielding Harare police officer who was enforcing the country’s lockdown rules earlier during the month.

The mother of the child is one Rebecca Musariri.

Also charged with the same offence are CCC lawmaker Job Sikhala and government critic, Hopewell Chin’ono.

ZRP refuted the claim and said the child at the centre of the storm was alive.

A video of the incident went viral in 2020, with the mother wailing while holding onto a police officer who “allegedly assaulted her baby to death.”

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga will take home $69,2 million as their combined basic annual salaries in 2023, the latest proposed estimates of expenditure (Bluebook) have revealed.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube announced the national budget last Thursday.  estimates of expenditure show that Mnangagwa and Chiwenga will earn $5,8 million each as monthly salaries. The wages are equivalent to US$8 964 at the prevailing official rate.

This comes a few weeks after she warned that she is contemplating suicide and people should not be surprised if she takes the route.

Mubaiwa has been critically ill for several months after she was diagnosed with acute lymphoedema. Her several applications to seek treatment outside the country were rejected by the courts which led to her right arm being amputated in September.

The former model and video vixen said that she was considering suicide due to the extreme pain that she is in adding that she is not mentally well as she is suffering from depression.

Speaking to a South African publication, Sunday Times, Marry Mubaiwa said,

“I am not well at all, and I feel that if I had gone out of the country to seek better treatment, I would be better, but the court refused to give me my passport as part of bail conditions.

“Especially not seeing my children is very painful to me. Sometimes I start having thoughts of committing suicide — and don’t be surprised [if I do]. I have not spoken to my kids, and I have not seen them since 2019.”

The former second lady added,

“Our children have nothing to do with what is happening between us … These are young children. I always ask myself what he says to them about me. These are kids who need their mother.”

Mubaiwa also insisted that she is innocent of all charges laid against her.

“I spent nights and days crying, asking God: ‘Why did you let this happen to me?’ Everything I am accused of, I didn’t do it.”

“Right now, I am so sick. I am having challenges with my legs that are swollen and so painful, and the doctors told me after the amputation of my right arm that my body has too much fluid.”

Mahachi Opens Up After Acquittal

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe international forward, Kudakwashe Mahachi, said no one cared for him during his trials and tribulation.

Mahachi was speaking out for the first time since he was acquitted by a Bulawayo magistrate after enduring rejection and condemnation for a lengthy period as he was being accused of assaulting his son.

I am not just a broken man; I am a pained man by what has happened to my son and how I was accused of attempting to kill him despite reports from medical experts.

No one cared to give me a chance, no one cared to give me the benefit of doubt,” he said.

Mahachi dismissed all juju allegations citing that he worked hard for everything he had.

“I have played football for 15 years for my country and for top-flight clubs.

“Yet despite this, I was accused of using my 4-year-old son for rituals, how is it that I have played this game for 11 years before my son was born and suddenly now needed him for rituals for my career?

“Even fellow football players that I struggled with as a young boy trying to make it in our early careers accused me of using rituals to harm their careers, but what would I have benefited from that?”

He said his ex-lover was bitter and was demanding maintenance for three children while Diego was Mahachi’s only biological child.

“I have also silently been a victim of a bitter ex-lover for so long. She accused me of kidnapping and smuggling my own child, yet each time he visited me in South Africa on 3 separate occasions, he returned in perfect health.

On each visit without fail, he was receiving medical check-ups. I have been fighting many battles behind the scenes with Diego’s mother

“Diego’s mother had been demanding the maintenance of 3 children (Deneo, Dellish and Diego). (Deneo, unfortunately, died from hydrocephalus),

“I had been paying 2/10 maintenance for years without question until friends advised me to take paternity tests for these children.

“Results from the paternity tests revealed that only Diego was biologically mine. “Upon this news, I stopped paying maintenance and this infuriated Maritha (Diego’s mother) and her mother, who swore to destroy me,” he said.

What You Need To Know About Shashl

By A Correspondent- Shashl was born Ashleigh Moyo. Shashl is a Zimbabwean RnB musician. She became Zimbabwe’s first female musician to be signed by Universal Music Group.

She is the daughter of former Health minister Obadiah Moyo.[1] She has a sister named Sherris.

She released her debut single No More in 2017. In 2018 she released her first single Blow it in the Wind under the major recording label, Universal Music. Shashl became the first Zimbabwean female musician to get signed under Universal Music Group Africa.

In July 2021 she released Ghetto Buddies under Chillspot Records.

In 2019, Shashl was reportedly assaulted by Godfrey Utsiwegota at Pablo’s Night Club.

Utsiwegota was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye who released him on free bail.

Utsiwegota was released on free bail because he had come to court but failed to appear in court because Shashl did not attend court as expected.

Allegations are that Shashl was recording at Pablo’s studio around 11pm and as she left the club and walked towards her car, she was assaulted by Utsiwegota’s alleged accomplice Ovio Mgijima who went on the run.

Utsiwegota allegedly joined in the assault and the two fought Shashl until she lost consciousness.

In 2018 Shashl, who was nominated at the 2018 edition of the African Magazine Muzik Awards (Afrimma) in the Best Female Southern Africa category.

In an interview she said her stage name Shashl came from her mother who used to confuse her and her sister whose name is Sherris. Shashl said her mother would randomly call her Shashly.

She can play the guitar, mbira, drums, violin, flute, saxophone and marimba.

Shashl accused her estranged lover DJ Levels of leaking their bedroom tape as revenge.

The tape and pictures trended on social media platforms in late November 2022.

She claimed that Levels had leaked the mjolo tape because she told him that she doesn’t want to be with him anymore.

Shashl also said it was not the first time that Levels had leaked their private pictures.

She claimed he once leaked a video of them kissing after she wanted to break up with him sometime in 2022.

Shashl claimed that Levels has been physically and verbally abusing her, saying he would beat her up or shout at her if she doesn’t pick up his calls and at one point was left with bruises after he brutally assaulted her.

Joy For ZEP Holders In South Africa

By- A South African court has postponed to next year April a case in which the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) is challenging the termination of the Zimbabwe exemption permits(ZEP).

The case was set down for Monday and will now be heard in April, Times Live said, quoting Nicole Fritz the director of the foundation.

Mahachi Asks For Another Chance As Doctors Say Son Was Truly Burnt

A judge recently passed a verdict that opposes medics who say the Zimbabwe midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi, who was recently acquitted of attempted murder over injuries suffered by his four-year-old son, was trully burnt by a person. The player has pleaded for a second chance in football following that verdict.

The midfielder who says he has battled depression and ridicule before the latest ruling longs for another dance on the football field.

Mahachi’s career has stalled over the last seven months since the start of the trial. As a result, he was frozen out at South African side SuperSport United who first suspended him in May so that he can attend to his family matters. Matsatsantsa a Pitori decided not to offer Mahachi a new contract when his deal with the club expired at the end of June, which means he is club-less.

In July this year, Mahachi achieved his first victory in the courtroom when he was acquitted of theft charges. He stood accused of snatching and damaging an XP iPhone belonging to his sister.

In a statement released yesterday, Mahachi said after clearing his name in court, he is now pleading with the world to have mercy, and in particular, for him to be given another chance to play football again. The vastly talented player, whose football exploits have taken him to the now-defunct Bantu Rovers, Chicken Inn, Highlanders, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Lamontville Golden Arrows and SuperSport United spoke of the agony of losing all he has worked for.

“I have lost everything l have worked for. It was my dream to play football for my country, to serve my country and represent it,” said Mahachi.

“As a man l can no longer feed my family, as all my savings have depleted in my quest for justice. Yes, l have been exonerated but the nightmare l have gone through can never be erased.

“I can only pray someone out there is willing to take a chance on me, so l can go back to playing the sport that l love and finish my career without this torrid time being how l exit the beautiful game of football.”

The 29-year-old Mahachi was one of the scorers together with former captain Knowledge Musona when the Warriors defeated Guinea 2-1 in their last match at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon at the beginning of this year to end the tournament on a high note after losses to Senegal and Malawi. Musona and Mahachi are the only Zimbabwean players to score at two different Afcon finals.-Chronicle

Africa Smiles As Black Stars Shine

– Reuters

More Woes For Magaya

By- The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has said that more women are approaching them, reporting that they were sexually abused by the leader of the Prophetic Healing Deliverance Ministries, Walter Magaya.

The Herald reports that there are also girls coming with similar reports.

Investigations into allegations of exploitation and abuse of women by Magaya started last month, according to ZGC.

Brazil Through To Round Of 16

Lover Robs Boyfriend At Gun Point

By A Correspondent- A 33 year old Warren Park woman was arrested for organising an armed robbery against her wealthy married lover for allegedly failing to provide her ‘satisfactory financial support.’

Beulah Zimhondi appeared before magistrate Taurai Manuwere charged with armed robbery and was remanded in custody.

Zimondi allegedly hired four men to rob Jonathan Gapare, a construction tycoon.

It is alleged the Zimondi and Gapare have been in a relationship since 2020 and the accused was not satisfied with the financial help she was getting.

She allegedly planned the robbery together with four accomplices named as Daniel Mutasa, Taurai Pangai and the other two only identified as Sir Calaz and Gunners but are still at large.

After several meetings to to perfect their plan, they allegedly met at Zimondi’s place of residence overnight on October 29. The following morning, at Zimondi’s direction, they allegedly stormed Gapare’s house, which was nearby, armed with pistols.

Upon arrival, they introduced themselves to the complainant saying they were sent by the complainant’s client Dingilwazo Moyo to collect money.

Gapare took them into his house and the gang produced pistols and tied all the people in the house using shoelaces and cables.

They got away with US$1 490, four mobile phones and electric gadgets before exiting the house through a back door and scaling a precast wall.

Sikhala’s Epistle From Prison

Tinashe Sambiri|
Jailed CCC deputy chairman and Zengeza West MP, Job Sikhala, has written a strong letter from Chikurubi maximum security prison blasting the Zanu PF regime.

The die-hard politician said he was ready for anything and would not be bought by money or be cowed into abandoning the fight for democracy.

Sikhala has been in pre-trial detention at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison since June this year on allegations of inciting public violence and has been denied bail by the courts more than eight times.

The CCC vice chairman was arrested in the aftermath of violence that rocked the Nyatsime area in June this year following the murder of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

In his latest letter from prison shared on social media by his spokesperson, Freddy Michael Masarirevu, Sikhala characterised his imprisonment as persecution.

Reads the letter:
No amount of gold or silver or superlatives will break the solidity of my enduring spirit against all forms of persecution, machinations, plots, and conspiracies against myself. Ask those who know me better.

I urge all of you, dearest compatriots, to also remain resolute and unshaken in light of the vices in our nation.

Keep your eyes on the ball.
I find bright spots in my willingness to make sacrifices, even against all forms of adversity. People are not freed by doing nothing but by making selfless sacrifices.

I might be suffering in prison because the precious life of Moreblessing Ali was terminated by those who have arrogated themselves that power, but my ‘persecution’ goes beyond that.

It is, to me, an effort to eliminate me politically and silence us all.

Despite the laurel wreath of the present, I am resolute, unmoved, and unshaken here at Chikurubhi Maximum Security Prison.
Great men and women are remembered and counted among the marathon runners of history. The vicissitudes of the present are a test of endurance. I am prepared to run this race to the finish. This, let me emphasize, I am prepared to do.

The great warriors of the world are those not understood by the present but remembered by history in a legacy that will span centuries.

This will be the mark of men and women who are prepared to carry the fight for their ideas and ideals to the end, damn the consequences.
I am embodied by the great observation of the greatest man ever to live. In Africa, the good guys usually lose; they are imprisoned, tormented, tortured, killed, beaten up, or simply beaten down, but they are immortalized by history.
Let them throw me in jail, no matter how insurmountable the situation appears.

I see victory all around. We shall be victorious.
May the Gracious Almighty God bless and protect all of you!

SUNGURA ace Alick Macheso was forced to leave the stage in the middle of his performance in Mutare in the wee hours of yesterday.

Macheso was performing at the Pick and Save Platinum Leisure Centre in the eastern city.

According to sources, Macheso, who had started his act close to midnight, was forced to abort his performance at 3:30am after police indicated that the musician was making noise for a police boss who lives close to the venue.

Pick and Save Platinum Leisure Centre’s operations manager Stella Chipamawunga confirmed the incident to Standard Style yesterday.

Atlas Lions Shock Belgium

Morocco have taken a massive stride towards qualification for the round of 16 after a 2-0 win over Belgium.

Morocco showed great resolve in keeping Belgium at bay for a majority of the game on Sunday and took the lead through substitute Abdelhamid Sabiri’s free kick in the 73rd minute.

The final 20 minutes saw Belgium ramp up the pressure in search of a goal, but Walid Regragui’s side held on firmly and went down the other end to double their lead in injury time thanks to Zakaria Aboukhlal.

It was a raucous atmosphere at Al Thumama Stadium with the 44,000 sell-out crowd predominantly made up of Morocco fans. Roared on by this sea of red and green, Morocco gave its fans an evening they’ll never forget.

Earlier, Morocco were dealt a blow after the national anthems when goalkeeper Yassine Bounou appeared to gesture he would not be able to play.

Belgium dominated the early exchanges, but clear-cut chances were at a premium. Morocco found the back of the net through a Hakim Ziyech free kick late in the half, but it was disallowed after Romain Saïss was judged to be offside.

Sofiane Boufal almost broke the deadlock in the 57th minute after a jinking run but bent the ball narrowly wide of the far post.

Roberto Martinez Montoliu made two changes on the hour mark, replacing the ineffective Eden Hazard with Dries Mertens and bringing on Youri Tielemans for Amadou Onana in midfield.

Mertens almost made an immediate impact when his strike from just outside the area was beaten away by Moroccan goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi.

The breakthrough came in the 73rd minute when Sabiri’s smart free kick just five minutes after coming on outfoxed Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois to spark scenes of unbridled joy.- Al Jazeera

Late Goal Rescues Germany

There was no winner in Spain vs Germany game as both teams share points to let the matchday 3 in Group E a bit more tasty with that 1-1 result giving Germans a hope for the next round.

La Roja dominated the first half but missed big chances to open the deadlock against Hansi Flick’s team.

The German team which run after the ball a lot proceeded on counter-attacks but they could not beat Unai Simon who has been tremendous for Spain.

The solution for the Spanish side came from the bench when Luis Enrique decided to bring Alvaro Morata on for Ferran Torres.

The former Real Madrid star gave the lead to his nation in the 62nd, few minutes after his entrance as he deviated a ball from a corner-kick and beat Manuel Neuer.

Spain could have won the game by scoring another goal but they were not concentrated until Germany came back.

And Füllkrug was the man who snatched the draw for them after coming off the bench to score on a powerful strike in the 83rd minute.

The game ended in a stalemate with Germany grabbing their very first point in this World Cup while Spain have 4 but will wait until next matchday before sealing their last 16 ticket.- En Africa Sports

Chamisa Proffers Power Cuts Solutions

By- The leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, has said the ruling ZANU PF has failed to address the country’s power crisis and proposed possible solutions.

The party emphasised the need to modernise power generation infrastructure in a social media post. The party said:

ZANU PF has failed to solve the power crisis. A CCC Government would:

1. Rehabilitate Hwange Power Stations

2. Build additional hydro-power.stations, including at Batoka Gorge

3. Modernize Zimbabwe’s transmission infrastructure

4. Open up the energy sector to independent power producers

4. Invest in renewable energy including solar, wind & gas

This comes after the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) advised Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to shut down the Kariba South bank power station for the remainder of the year due to low water levels at Kariba Dam.

ZRA chief executive officer Munyaradzi Munodawafa said the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), a subsidiary of ZESA Holdings, used more water than it had been allocated, hence the need to close the power plant until at least January 2023 to allow the dam to fill.

Zimbabwe experienced acute power shortages in the past three years with authorities blaming ageing equipment’s incapacity to generate enough power, reduced electricity imports and water shortages at Kariba Dam.

Government critics blame the ZANU PF-led government for the country’s prolonged electricity challenges saying little has been done to increase electricity generation since the 1980s.

ZEPs Give SA Government Headache

Magaya In Fresh Rape Cases

By- The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has said that more women are approaching them, reporting that they were sexually abused by the leader of the Prophetic Healing Deliverance Ministries, Walter Magaya.

The Herald reports that there are also girls coming with similar reports.

Investigations into allegations of exploitation and abuse of women by Magaya started last month, according to ZGC.

Kuda Mahachi Bares His Soul On Losing Everything Following Arrest For Child Abuse

Zimbabwe Warriors and Supersport United star Kuda Mahachi has opened up on how his world crumbled following his arrest on allegations of abusing his son Diego.

Mahachi was last week acquitted of attempted murder and child abuse but he shared an emotional message of his everything he took years to build collapsed in the seven months he was in and out of court before his acquittal last week.

“On Friday the 25th of November, after 7 months I was acquitted on 2 very serious criminal allegations of attempted murder and child abuse. During these 7 months I saw my whole world turn upside down. I was dismissed from my club with immediate effect and no income, I was vilified by a nation that I once was the football darling of and my fate was sealed through social media without trial. During these 7 months I lost everything I lived for. 7 months of being shunned even by those I played alongside, 7 months of death threats, 7 months of depression, the list can go on.

“My son, Diego was a victim of negligence at the hands of family me3mbers who were meant to look after him at my home in Bulawayo. Diego was diagnosed with Ulcer Sepsis Necrotic, (the so called flesh eating disease) which is very rare but serious infection.

“I am not just broken man, I am a pained man by what has happened to my son and how I was accused of attempting to kill him despite reports from medical experts. No one cared to give me a chance, no one cared to give me the benefit of doubt. I have played football for 15 years for my country and for topflight clubs, yet despite this, I was accused of using my 4-year-old son for rituals. How is it that I have played this game for 11 years before my son was born and suddenly now needed him for rituals for my career,” said Mahachi.

Controversial Businessman Ken Sharpe’s Aide Tatiana Aleshina Reported To ZACC For Obstruction Of Justice

Property developer George Katsimberis has reported Harare businessman Ken Sharpe’s business partner to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption (Zacc) for alleged obstruction of justice and contempt of court.

Katsimberis told Zacc that Sharpe’s business partner Tatiana Aleshina was obstructing the course of justice in a case where the businessman is being charged with perjury, an allegation that is being vehemently denied by the businesswoman.

The property developer and Sharpe, the owner of Pokugara Properties, are embroiled in a multi-layered legal dispute.

Katsimberis is suing Sharpe and his aide, Michael John Van Blerk as well as top Harare City Council officials for perjury and malicious damage to property after the local authority demolished his show house.

They claimed that the houses he constructed on behalf of Pokugara Properties did not have approved plans.

The case is pending before the courts.

In the latest case, Katsimberis accused Aleshina of deliberately supplying false information to public officials, including dragging in the office of the president, contempt of court as well as obstructing the course of justice.

“As shown above, on the 12th and 14th of June 2019, the accused (Aleshina) wrote letters in her name and on behalf of the accused (Pokugara) to the town clerk of the City of Harare (Hosea Chisango) asking him to withdraw criminal charge against officials of the accused (Pokugara) as well as against accused (Pokugara) in case number CRB HR 14065/18 claiming in those letters the existence of support from “government and the highest office for such withdrawal of said on-going criminal charges,” Katsimberis submitted.

“It is clear from the letter that pressure was being brought to bear on a witness in an ongoing criminal investigation, which pressure included the direct and intimidatory statement that those applying pressure enjoyed the support of the ‘government’ and the ‘highest office’ to demand what they were asking for; a withdrawal of ongoing criminal charges.”

Katsimberis claimed that Aleshina has been interfering with investigations to sway the case against him.

Aleshina denied the charges when contacted for comment by The Standard.

“Those are baseless allegations without any foundation of truth,” she said.

“They are a desperate attempt to run away from the allegations he is facing.

“We gladly await for results into investigations.”

In a follow-up statement, Aleshina said she never supplied any false information to City of Harare officials.

She added: “Where and when did I ask the town clerk to do this? Has the town clerk been furnished with this allegation?

“I certainly know of no such thing having happened and would be happy to hear what he says, particularly the details as to when and where and how he came about the information.

“Is there evidence, or is it merely a bold assertion?

“The same is true of the contempt of court accusation.

“It is unclear how that would be a matter for the anti-corruption commission instead of the court in question.

“It would be interesting if you asked him (Katsimberis) why anyone would believe him given that he is aggrieved and has already demonstrated to be an unreliable witness.”

Zacc spokesperson Thandiwe Mlobane said the case was being handled by the police.

“What happens is that once it is being handled by a certain arm, we can’t interfere or have counter investigations lest we jeopardise the case,” Mlobane said.

Chiadzwa Villagers, CSOs Take To Court Over Diamond Looting, ZRP Abuse

By A Correspondent- Chiadzwa villagers and civil society organisations (CSOs) have sued the police for banning a planned demonstration against the looting of diamonds and human rights abuses perpetrated by State security agents in Marange.

The villagers filed a lawsuit through Chiadzwa Community Development Trust chairperson Newman Chiadzwa at Mutare Magistrates Courts last Thursday seeking an interdict against the police on the planned demonstration.

Chiadzwa is being represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, while Xavier Chipato is the presiding magistrate on the matter.

Mutare Police Rural, cited as the first respondent, banned the demonstration, which was slated for November 15, 2022.

Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe are the second and third respondents, respectively.

In his founding affidavit, Chiadzwa said the demonstration was organised by him and eight CSOs.

“I wish to state that it cannot be gainsaid that there is a clear impression that the first respondent seeks to prevent me from holding the intended demonstration together with other participants. The reasons put forward by the first respondent to prohibit the intended demonstration are not cogent and are clear misinterpretations and misapplication of the law.

“I must point out that I only desire to enjoy the rights that are enshrined in the Constitution and peacefully so. I further wish to highlight that section 10(1(c) of the Maintenance of Order and Peace Act relied upon by the first respondent cannot be read in isolation. I submit that I have no other alternative remedy available to me apart from approaching this honourable court and have respondents interdicted from interfering with intended demonstrations,” part of the lawsuit read.

The matter is set to be heard this week in Mutare, where the police is expected to file its heads of argument.

Hot Love For Mnangagwa Divides Christianity- Mavaza

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Few people almost spend their entire lives trying their best to be famous, but as you know fame is an intangible thing and tough to measure.President ED has inspired many people from different walks of life like celebrities, politicians, businessmen, religious groups and living legends who have been extremely successful in their respective fields.

President Emerson MNANGAGWA nicknamed The crocodile is the most famous person in the world as of 2022. MNANGAGWA who is a politician,is the most humble president and has become so famous such that every person wants to become connected to him. He is one of the greatest professional politician the world has ever witnessed.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

Mnangagwa is now one of the highest development focused person with an estimated close to 3 billion dollars of developed projects. These includes the state of the art parliament building and several infrastructure which has taken a new rehabilitated structural faces.
Every Zimbabwean takes pride of the brand ED is grateful and proud to say that since we launched the new dispensation in November of 2017 ED has set new records of the county’s development.
On our way to becoming a rare brand (in record time) and that is an extraordinary accomplishment in the history of Zimbabwe.
The President is also very active on social media site Twitter Instagram and Face book by sharing his progress and plans there by including every one and anyone as Zimbabwe marches towards unprecedented economic development.
However the popularity of President MNANGAGWA has triggered a very serious debate whether Churches must be aligned with the ruling party. The outfits like Mapostori for ED,CHRISTIANS FOR ED have brought serious disgruntlement within Christian churches.
Is it correct that churches declare their allegiance to a political party. What is the role of the church in politics??
The question which is silently asked is,”What is the proper relationship between the government and church?”
Any government must not show preference to a certain religion and that the government does not take away an individual’s ability to exercise religion. In other words, the church should not rule over the state, and the state cannot rule over the church. There must never be a bias by the church towards government and the same applies to the government. It is clearly wrong for the church to support a political party.
There is a great difference between supporting Economic Development and supporting the government. Anything written “for ED” is for Economic Development. It is not anyone’s fault that some think ED means the President.
But there is nothing wrong for a church to engage into politics. Jesus was a politician so was every King of Israel. The Church gets involved in politics because that’s what Jesus did. Following Jesus means getting involved in politics to help serve the common good.
Politics and church are risky things to do at the same time this is very true. But it is neither wrong or a sin.
It is satanic for priests to cause the politicians to ask “who will rid me of this troublesome priest?” A British Priest in 1171 was killed by Four knights with swords in Canterbury Cathedral.
Two centuries later, Archbishop Simon of Sudbury made the mistake of being the king’s main tax collector. After a crowd stormed Lambeth Palace, they took him to Tower Hill, cut off his head and played football with it.
You would have thought that the priests and churches might have learned and keep their heads intact.
The trouble is that’s not what Jesus Christ did. He was never party political. No wing of politics left or right can claim God as being on its side. It is as-well diabolic for any leader opposition or otherwise to say that God is in it.
But Jesus was highly political. He told the rich that, unlike the poor who were blessed, they would face woes. He criticised the King as a fox. He spoke harsh words to leaders of the nations when they were uncaring of the needy.
He did this because God cares for those in need and expects those who claim to act in his name to do the same. That means action – and words.
Actions are obvious. The Anglican Church alone looks after about over a thousand schools (other churches such as the Roman Catholics Seventh Day Adventists have huge numbers of their own), teaching children well, and doing so in many cases in areas of great deprivation.
The churches run debt counselling, and help families in difficulty in marriages and family life. They really are often the glue that holds society together, not entirely alone, but as a crucial part.
National education, many hospitals, most homes for the old the majority of all these were started with or are run by church and other faith groups. Most revolutionary leaders if not all were schooled at mission schools. Zimbabwean President’s use the bible to be sworn in.
Quite rightly people mistrust people who pontificate, lay down the law, tell them what to do or how society should be run.
We are told that one should avoid mixing two things at the dinner table: religion and politics. Clearly they have never eaten at our dinner tables. Religion and politics can be polarizing, precisely because they deal with important matters that are deeply personal and close to our passions. But the mixing of politics and religion does not have to be polarizing or combative. When we are also told that we “should not mix religion and politics.” Again, this saying has a powerful truth: that when religion is used for political purposes, it empties religion of its eternal meaning and becomes just one more cynical method of acquiring power.
But there is also a disclaimer hidden in that phrase: that sometimes when people say “Don’t mix religion and politics,” they actually mean “Don’t bring your faith into the public square where I can see it.” In other words, hide your faith outside of your place of worship because we have a “separation of church and state.” Separation of church and state is too important a concept to be misused — especially not as a tool for silencing opposing views.
Drawing on Christian understandings of justice, generosity and human dignity, they described the kind of country that they felt reflected God’s values better.
Thank God they did interfere. They were political. And in part through their politics, millions now have better lives.
Of course, thankfully no religious leader has the authority that they had hundreds of years ago. But every person, group and institution in our wonderful, democratic country has the right and obligation to care about our future.
There is much to be hopeful about. Zimbabwe is as gifted as ever full of potential, with remarkable people and an extraordinary heritage.
Those values were the reason Christian’s and nonbelievers alike went to the Chimurenga war. The government of different parties created great institutions and systems like the courts and others.
Those institutions did not emerge out of nowhere. They were based in large part on our Christian heritage, put into practice by believer and non-believer alike.
We need to face our challenges today with a fresh vision that is confident, practical and outward looking. We need to be witnesses to the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed, as the churches often are and also by speaking of a vision for society.
There will be great changes in our country through technology and science, through changes abroad and at home. We may base change in good values. We may just let things take their course. Without religion i politics our pride will be diminished, and our contribution to the world stifled.
If we all take part in forming our values, if we base them in what is good and precious in our heritage, then our future can be better than our past. Our children and grandchildren can remember us as a generation that gave them hope and purpose.
It is a shame that some adulterers in the churches have started accusing pastors for aligning themselves with the ruling party.
Elders like Elder Kudakwashe Tagwirei have received a sharp end of the unreasonable attacks for showing their allegiance to the government allowed by God to be, for nothing can be
Without God saying so.
Some Adventist brothers who are more sinners than the
Devil have turned their
Satanic abuse on Pastor Aaron Rusukira. They think that God is their personal property. These people who accuse Mapositori for ED and Pastors For ED are more sinners than those they castigate.
If it is a catholic priest lambasting the government they call it freedom of speech. But if the same priests praise the government they flip the coin.
While there is a big line between Religion and Politics. God sits on His seat and looks upon us. Regardless of your political inclination God will appoint the leaders of his choice.
Religion or no Religion God is for us all and politics is an administration and governance so is Christianity.
Tagwirei prays God for his own soul so he is not moved by one’s satanic belief so is Rusukira Guti or Makandiwa. It is only God who understands and knows your heart.
Anyone who loves his country must be for ED for the good of the people.

MDC T’s 5th Ordinary Congress Date Announced

By A Correspondent- The MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora says it will hold its 5th Ordinary Congress on 18 December 2022 in Harare.

Mwonzora notified party members about the development, saying this is in line with the MDC-T constitution. He said:

In line with the constitution of the Party, and following the relevant internal processes, notice is hereby given that the 5th Ordinary Congress of the Movement for Democratic Change (Tsvangirai) will be held on the 18th of December 2022 in Harare.

Mwonzora was recently nominated by the MDC-T National Council as the sole presidential candidate for the party’s 5th Ordinary Congress.

On 21 November 2022, party spokesperson Witness Dube said Mwonzora is now the party’s duly elected presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

“Guide, Protect Children To Reduce Teen Pregnancies”: Parents Urged

By A Correspondent- Community leaders say the prevailing economic hardships have forced parents to abandon their children, making them vulnerable to sexual abuse.

This came out during engagements on gender-based violence (GBV) in public spaces organised by the United Nations (UN) Women in partnership with the Spotlight Initiative in Umzingwane district, Matabeleland South province.

Zimbabwe has recorded a surge in child marriages, with child rights activists advocating for stiffer penalties for perpetrators.

Activists under the banner of HeforShe, a UN-sponsored solidarity movement against GBV yesterday bemoaned the increase in child-headed families as parents flock to the diaspora to eke out a living.

“Children need guidance and protection from their parents. But what we have witnessed is children are nurturing themselves because of the absence of their parents. Children are often left in the custody of other people as their parents go to cities or even out of the country to look for jobs,” local church leader Lovemore Sibanda said.

Those guardians sometimes fail to protect them from abusers or provide moral guidance to them which results in the children behaving in a wayward manner.

“Sometimes those people who are left as custodians of children tend to sexually or mentally abuse them. Families should put in place concrete measures to strike a balance between protecting children from social ills and the need to meet their economic needs.”

HeforShe champion Vusumuzi Mpofu said parents and guardians were increasingly disregarding child protection laws due to the need to provide for families.

“We see parents taking children to the markets and turning them into vendors, which is against the laws. They spent the whole day loitering at the marketplaces mingling with older boys and men who eventually abuse them,” he said.

“Such environments are not conducive for child development and growth. Parents should protect children from dangers of the society. There is a need for increased education among parents on children’s rights.”

Activists against GBV have raised the red flag on child abuse after a nine-year-old girl from Tsholotsho gave birth at Mpilo Central Hospital.

“Ban The Black Man Instead Of Pit Bulls”: SA Woman

By A Correspondent- South African police have opened a crimen injuria case against a 60-year-old from Benon, Ekurhuleni, after she allegedly called for black people to be banned instead of banning pit bulls.

In South African law, crimen injuria refers to a wilful injury to someone’s dignity, caused by the use of obscene or racially offensive language or gestures.

Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said the 60-year-old uttered the speech on a widely circulated WhatsApp voice note.

She said the suspect was arrested and released the same day on a warning to appear in court on 27 March 2023.

What the woman said

Bookkeeper Belinda Magor was responding to a message on a WhatsApp group in which she said black women’s uteruses and ovaries should be removed. In the clip, she said:

Estella/Stella, I agree with you wholeheartedly. What I say is ban the black man.

They rape, they steal, they kill, worse than any pit bull could, and they get away with it. Ban those that are making the laws, ban Ekurhuleni, ban the black man.

Get all the black women and cut out their uteruses and their ovaries so that they cannot procreate because they will all turn out the same because they are all the same.

I’m very passionate about this. Ban them, kill them, shoot them. Get rid of them because they are the problem. Not pit bulls, not animals.

Animals are beautiful, and they deserve a warm bed, food, love and attention, and everything else.

God created those animals. Who created the black man? Do you think God? I don’t think so.

Call to ban pit bulls in South Africa

The call to ban pit bulls in South Africa comes as other countries such as Russia and the United Kingdom have either banned or put restrictions on ownership of the breed or its importation.

Last Sunday, two American pit bull terriers mauled to death a three-year-old boy, Keketso Saule, in Phomolong township in South Africa. | IOL

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

Chamisa, who leads the largest population since 1980, said those exiled into the diaspora need to prepare to come back home.

He started his message by congratulating Zimbabweans.

“Congratulations Zimbabwe,” he said.

He then went on to say though the victory is not yet visible, people should get ready to enjoy it. He wrote on his Twitter portal:

“… We have already overcome, though it doesn’t show yet. Freedom is coming! Prosperity is coming!Happiness coming!Peace is coming!Unity is coming! Zimbabweans in the Diaspora, start packing..get ready to come back home! A Brand New Great Zimbabwe loading…”

His message was met with different responses with some celebrating.

“This is exciting and excellent news Prezzo,” wrote one Twitter user

They continued saying, “2023 we are voting for CCC @nelsonchamisa ! We are voting for good governance under your able leadership sir ! 2023 President XOTSHA amasela onke OUT! Sesidiniwe ngendlala! Nomakanjani Siyangena! “

Wrote Memory Mandizvo: “Tave pagungwa dzvuku [We are now crossing over] toda kuyambuka Mwari vatumira Moses anove ndiye Advocate Chamisa kuti ayambutse vana veZimbabwe kupinda munyika itsva, vana varikuyambuka asi varakashi varikutevera kuti hazviite Mwari varikuvaparadza vese mu red sea, asi Chamisa wasvika Canaan.”

Others were different. “Tikazodyiwa next year umwe anofenda President [if we get bitten next year, someone will faint president],” said one Leo Akuedzwa.

To this, Chamisa replied saying, “Isu hatidyiki tinovava- we can’t be eaten, we are bitter.”

But others went head on against Chamisa to challenge him to separate rhetoric from reality. Wrote Thom Stuart, “If I could choose between rhetoric n action, I will choose action.

“Things on the ground do not support your words president.”

Two Zimbos Nabbed In India Over Heroin

By A Correspondent- Two Zimbabwean nationals have been arrested in India over possession of 7.9kgs of heroin, officials confirmed Sunday.

The Mumbai unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) the two suspects were arrested at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

The action was taken based on “specific intelligence that some narcotic substance is being smuggled into India by passengers traveling from Addis Ababa on Friday”.

Surveillance was mounted by a team of DRI officers at the CSMIA and the suspected passengers were identified and intercepted.

“A thorough search of their baggage led to the recovery of some packets containing light brown powder which were ingeniously concealed inside their trolley bags,” said an agency official, adding that the powder tested positive for the presence of heroin.

The suspects were arrested under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded to judicial custody by a special court. The DRI is investigating further to bust the drug syndicate involved in the case, the official added.

Teachers Detained By Zanu PF Activists

By A Correspondent- Labour unions have raised concern over the safety of teachers following an incident where Zanu-PF Gutu district co-ordinating committee (DCC) vice-chairperson Fabios Musara allegedly detained teachers at Machingambi Secondary School for participating in a research and data collection exercise.

The teachers were hired to conduct a data collection exercise by Australian-based Felix Mavhondo for his latest research.

Mavhondo works in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University as a professor of marketing. The teachers had been authorised to do the data collection exercise.

Sources told NewsDay that there was a crisis on Tuesday last week when Musara stormed the school premises and summoned all the teachers who participated in the data collection exercise and accused them of being opposition activists.

“The teachers were detained for several hours. Musara threatened to beat them up, accusing them of being opposition activists. Some students at the school witnessed the teachers being embarrassed. Learning time was lost,” said the source.

Musara could not be reached for comment.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) president Obert Masaraure confirmed the incident and called upon political parties to refrain from harassing teachers.

“Punishing teachers for engaging in academic research is an affront to both academic freedom and national development. Zimbabwe should be constantly chasing new frontiers of knowledge to find an escape route out of the deep hole we are trapped in. It’s not everyone is comfortable living in the Stone Age when the rest of the world has moved on,” Masaraure said.

“We call upon the ruling party to modernise its approach to politics. The persecution of teachers is a threat to access to education for the learners and a huge impediment to achieving the goals set out in NDS1.”

Educators Union of Zimbabwe (EUZ) general secretary Tapedza Zhou said the events at Machingambi Secondary School were disturbing.

“We are concerned about events at Machingambi Secondary School on 22 November, where teachers were victimized for partaking in research yet the foreign researcher was given a green light by the ministry.

“The approving ministry must restrain political leaders from interfering with our teachers in schools. These current dynamics are an epitome of disaster,” Zhou said.

Political Flip Flopper Jonathan Moyo Tears Into Kasukuwere

By A Correspondent- Former Zanu PF Politburo member Jonathan Moyo has hit back at Saviour Kasukuwere after the latter said he will never beg ZANU PF or President Emmerson Mnangagwa for forgiveness, and seek readmission into the party.

Kasukuwere, who, like Moyo, fell out of favour with ZANU PF following the November 2017 military coup, recently said he will not go on his knees to beg for forgiveness from his erstwhile colleagues.

He made the remarks after Moyo and another self-exiled former cabinet minister, Patrick Zhuwao issued a public apology to ZANU PF members over their role in a campaign calling for the party to be removed from power.

Responding to Kasukuwere, Moyo claimed the former ZANU PF political commissar made endless calls begging ZANU PF to be readmitted into the ruling party. Wrote Moyo on Twitter:

Yet days after the coup, Savior Kasukuwere coined the term “New Dispensation”; he later made endless forgiveness calls and begged a ZANU PF bigwig with “APOLOGY CATTLE”!

It’s cheap for Tyson to make hay out of the open ‘apology letter’ @PatrickZhuwao and I wrote. Our letter is public and is to ZANU PF members; unlike his private ‘APOLOGY CATTLE’ to ZANU PF bigwig.

@Hon_Kasukuwere, in 2017 wrote “Let’s embrace the new dispensation and build our nation. Unity is strength and peace are prerequisites for progress.

In a leaked virtual address to his supporters, Kasukuwere said he is not a coward and is available to lead if his supporters invite him to do so.

How ED Is Brain-Damaging Voters Before 2023 Elections Using “Russian-Internet-Poison”

By Dorrothy Moyo | If one ever thought Emmerson Mnangagwa has run out of ideas, they have a lot to learn, as there are ongoing moves to damage the brains of voters before the upcoming elections so to influence their actions against them. This is the same technique utilised by Russian agents during the 2016 US election through the internet. It works.

Mnangagwa is engineering a thinking pattern that leads the masses into a ditch, and involves religious beliefs that God is in it, everything will be okay, the people will take over power in 2023.

Mnangagwa is a manipulator. Many do not understand that that means, that once a person starts operating as a manipulator, they start functioning in a way that compromises a group’s corporate psychie.

The manipulator simply identifies the button that can trigger a community group into a kind of action, and they quickly press that same button in a way so that the same group can influence the decision making of their own leader, prejudicially.

If the group’s community leader fails to perceive that the secret power behind the majority voice is the manipulator’s, they will be deceived by the majority voice.

This is how Emmerson Mnangagwa is battling out against the CCC- he has planted his own among the majority community, and the purpose is to influence the decision making, whose end in ED’s master book is to annihilate the opposition. On any single day Mnangagwa wakes up, he starts it by studying and building ideas to destroy the opposition. This is preoccupation since 1979, and the CCC is not starved of numbers of ideas; while the opposite is the case with Mnangagwa, and he spends time experimenting and building them.

Mnangagwa’s method includes a large team of both outsiders and insiders, like in the US where on July 13, 2018, a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia returned an indictment against 12 Russian military intelligence officers for their alleged roles in interfering with the 2016 US elections. The indictment charges 11 defendants, Boris Alekseyevich Antonov, Dmitriy Sergeyevich Badin, Nikolay Yuryevich Kozachek, Aleksey Viktorovich Lukashev, Artem Andreyevich Malyshev, Sergey Aleksandrovich Morgachev, Aleksandr Vladimirovich Osadchuk, Aleksey Aleksandrovich Potemkin, Ivan Sergeyevich Yermakov, Pavel Vyacheslavovich Yershov, and Viktor Borisovich Netyksho, with a computer hacking conspiracy involving gaining unauthorized access into the computers of U.S. persons and entities involved in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, stealing documents from those computers, and staging releases of the stolen documents to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The indictment also charges these defendants with aggravated identity theft, false registration of a domain name, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Two defendants, Aleksandr Vladimirovich Osadchuk and Anatoliy Sergeyevich Kovalev, are charged with a separate conspiracy to commit computer crimes, relating to hacking into the computers of U.S. persons and entities responsible for the administration of 2016 U.S. elections, such as state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and U.S. companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of U.S. elections. The United States District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. issued a federal arrest warrant for each of these defendants upon the grand jury’s return of the indictment.

If Mnangagwa is performing these moves, all this can be read through his speeches where he says, all election winners are corpses.

In a chilling warning during the same function where he said if he were God, he would deprive all MDC supporters of oxygen, Mnangagwa told a Masvingo gathering in May 2015, democracy is only found among corpses.

He spoke in the Shona vernacular saying, “to all of us here I always ask where are the majority, among the living or among the corpses?

“They are among the dead.

“Democracy says we must go to the majority. That’s why there is death on earth.

“It’s democracy, those who win elections are the majority.”

Zimdancehall Producer Faces Arrest Over S*x Tape

By- Zimdancehall producer Levels is facing arrest over his weekend leaked nude pictures after his ex-girlfriend reported him to the police.

Levels torched a storm after his nudes, and s*x tape with Shashl leaked over the weekend.

In his defence, he claimed his cellphone was stolen and hacked.

However, social media users could not buy his narrative as they were convinced he deliberately leaked the nudes.

The sexually explicit content has also exposed Shashl.

She bared her soul, exclusively to H-Metro, while sobbing.

“He forced me into the situation. He would force me to sleep with him when I didn’t want to.

“It started on social media when people were saying Levels and Shashl are dating, yet we were not.

“He is actually the one who posted that story.

“Later on, he started to corner me to sleep with him.

“I refused on several occasions before he threatened me that he would not record my music,” she said.

“Levels then moved to the next level where he forced me to actualise the relationship, of which I didn’t want.

“I refused to actualise the relationship.”

Shashl said she was cornered into this mess.

“I was cornered, I was between a rock and a hard place.

“He kept threatening me over releasing some nudes.

“He then released a picture of us kissing, in which he warned me that he was showing that he can do more than that.”

She said Levels lied that his phone was stolen.

“It was a lie that I stole his phone, how can I steal his phone?

“If I had stolen it, why was he calling?

“He released his nudes to act as if someone was dropping them, he then later released a sex tape,” said Shashl.

She has since pressed cyber charges at Borrowdale Police Station.

“I am pressing charges against him.

“He boasts that nothing can be done against him.

“I did not know how to say it but I was in trouble as he was blackmailing me.

“He is bragging that he is untouchable.

“He is violent, he forced me into sex, it was actually more like rape.

“I was left with no option but to report the matter to the police so that the truth would be known,” she added.

Police Harass Macheso, Drag Him Off The Stage

By- Police in Mutare have humiliated Sungura ace Alick Macheso and pulled him off the stage during a live performance.

Macheso was performing at the Pick and Save Platinum Leisure Centre in the eastern city at the weekend.

According to the Standard Style, Macheso, who had started his act close to midnight, was forced to abort his performance at 3:30am after police indicated that the musician was making noise for a police boss who lives close to the venue.
Pick and Save Platinum Leisure Centre’s operations manager Stella Chipamawunga confirmed the incident to Standard Style yesterday.
“I was called by the police at 3:04am; they said Macheso must leave the stage as he was making noise because the Dispol [officer commanding police Mutare district] wanted to sleep,” she said.
“Before we made a move, police came and forced Macheso off the stage.
“They made him stop his performance citing noise as the venue is a bit close to the Dispol’s place.”
“It was bad for business, sales and fans who pay for value, fans complained as they were expecting Macheso to end his act at 5am.”

The officer commanding police Manicaland Province refused to comment on the issue.
Recently Zimdancehall artiste Winky D was forced to abort his performance by police for performing beyond “curfew time” at a gig in Harare.
The incident led to a stampede which injured a number of people.

Job Sikhala Weekend Message | FULL TEXT

Job Sikhala...

By Hon Job Sikhala | No amount of gold or silver or superlatives will break the solidity of my enduring spirit against all forms of persecution, machinations, plots, and conspiracies against myself. Ask those who know me better. I urge all of you, dearest compatriots, to also remain resolute and unshaken in light of the vices in our nation.

Job Sikhala...
Job Sikhala

Keep your eyes on the ball. I find bright spots in my willingness to make sacrifices, even against all forms of adversity. People are not freed by doing nothing but by making selfless sacrifices. I might be suffering in prison because the precious life of Moreblessing All was terminated by those who have arrogated themselves that power, but my ‘persecution’ goes beyond that. It is, to me, an effort to eliminate me politically and silence us all.

Despite the laurel wreath of the present, I am resolute, unmoved, and unshaken here at Chiku rut+ i Maximum Security Prison.

White South African Insults Blacks, Says They Are Worse Than Dogs

By- South African police have opened a crimen injuria case against a 60-year-old from Benon, Ekurhuleni, after she allegedly called for black people to be banned instead of banning pit bulls.

In South African law, crimen injuria refers to a wilful injury to someone’s dignity caused by the use of obscene or racially offensive language or gestures.

| IOL

Biti Rubbishes Mnangagwa SONA

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC vice president Hon Tendai Biti has described Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s State of the Nation Address as empty and void of logic.

Hon Biti accused the Zanu PF leader of destroying the principles and components of nationalism.

Zimbabwe has been reduced to a mere teapot – shaped country without unity, love and freedom, according to Hon Biti.

“Our Change Champion, Hon #BitiTendai has responded to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by Mr Mnangagwa.

He says it is out of touch with the current situation in Zimbabwe,” CCC said in a brief statement on Thursday.

The Goat Gores Mexico

Second-half goals from Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez helped Argentina limp towards a 2-0 victory against Mexico on Saturday night.

The Lusail Iconic Stadium will be the venue for the World Cup final but it served as the setting for what Lautaro Martinez described as the first of “two finals” for Argentina after the shock defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opener.

Very much like a final, it was a desperately cagey contest pockmarked by niggling fouls, spiky challenges and few chances.

Argentina began the game hampered by the pressure of the circumstances and – more pertinently – Mexico’s energetic start, forcing the Copa America champions into aimless punts clear.

Lionel Scaloni gave his team a lofty buildup ahead of the contest, pledging: “We will give everything, every last bead of sweat, to turn this around.” Martinez went one step further: “We will break our backs for Argentina.”

Yet, the opening hour was painfully listless as Argentina seemed to fret over the possibility of losing rather than the necessity to win.

Messi had been well-muzzled by Mexico’s hoard of dogged midfielders, forcing Argentina’s skipper to drop deep into his own half in search of a whisper of space for most of the match. ‘Most’ being the operative word.

As his former manager at international and club level, Mexico boss Gerardo Martino was well aware of Messi’s propensity to flicker into life. “Sometimes even without being on top of your game for 90 minutes, in five minutes everything can happen,” he prophetically warned.

Hector Herrera was caught on his heels as Angel Di Maria fired the ball across the edge of the box. Taming a fiercely struck pass with one touch, Messi swatted a low, fizzing effort into the bottom corner with his second, nestling it in the ratonera – the mouse nest, as they say in Argentina.

What they will be saying back in Buenos Aires and beyond will invariably be some form of thanks to their skipper.

Fernandez sealed three points which keeps Argentina’s future in their own hands in the 87th minute, bending a sumptuous effort into the top corner as Mexico completely switched off from a short corner. But this was Messi’s night. Victory ensures there may be more of those to come this winter. Argentina will certainly hope so. -90minutes.com

Medical Doctor Brutally Assaults Girlfriend’s Lovers

A man from Bulawayo, who is also a trainee medical doctor at Mpilo Central Hospital, and suspected his preg_nant girlfriend of cheating for some time had his suspicions confirmed in the most dramatic way.

It, however, ended in tears for the two men he busted having s_əx with his lover at a city lodge and flat respectively.

Prosper Mpofu (27) a part five medical student mercilessly beat up Erick Gumbo from Nkulumane suburb after he caught him red-handed having s_əx with his girlfriend Abercy “Spongy” Chishapira at a city lodge.

In a fit of anger, Mpofu is also alleged to have threatened to chop off Gumbo’s manhood.

Mpofu also brutally bashed Butholenkosi Gula Ndebele with fists and open hands on the face, chest, neck and back after he also caught him in bed with his lover at his (Ndebele)’s flat in the city.

He went on to hit him with a guitar resulting in it breaking into pieces before smashing his 55-Inch Samsung TV’s screen.

The explosive details of Mpofu’s rampage came to light when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Musaiwona Shotgame facing two counts of assault and one of malicious damage to property.

He pleaded not guilty to all the three counts but was convicted due to overwhelming evidence.

On the first two counts of assault Mpofu was fined $70 000 (or seven months in jail). Ten months imprisonment were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

On count three of malicious damage to property he was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment of which five months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining five months were suspended on condition that he compensates Ndebele US$1 100 being the value of his property he destroyed when he was beating him up.

In passing the sentence the magistrate took into consideration the fact that Mpofu had “passionately” apologised both to the court and the two victims and that he was also a first offender and a medical student in his fifth year at Mpilo Hospital.

“He is single and engaged to an expecting girlfriend who is in this case at the epicenter of the commission of these crimes. She lured the two complainants for the Biblical fruits of wisdom and was bedded by the complainants.

“The accused was provoked by the conduct of the victims to be seduced by her. He is a first-time offender and is not employed but a student at Mpilo in his fifth year.

“Accused however, took the law into his own hands and invoked violence to resolve a dispute, instead of dialogue. He used severe force to strike the victims with serious injuries. He was supposed to resolve his disputes with his girlfriend other than with the complainants.

“The court will impose a term of imprisonment suspending it on condition of good behaviour and restitution,” argued the magistrate.

In his defence outline which was mostly in dispute, Mpofu stated that Gumbo throttled him and he retaliated. He said he then overpowered him adding that Gumbo was lying against him as punishment for busting him with his “wife”.

Turning to Ndebele, Mpofu said when he found him with his “wife” he grabbed him and they wrestled and in the process Ndebele fell on the TV.

He said he slapped him with open hands and when Ndebele attempted to assault him using a guitar he dodged it and it fell and damaged the picture frame. He denied damaging the items as alleged.

The court heard that on 7 October 2022 and at around 3pm Gumbo booked a room at a city lodge in question where he had s_əx with Chishapira.

It is reported that while the two were in the act, Mpofu barged into the room and started assaulting Gumbo with fists all over the body and he inflicted a deep cut on the upper lid of the eye and bruises.

Mpofu is also alleged to have stomped on him and later pulled out his s_əxual organ indicating that he wanted to cut it off.

It emerged in court that when Mpofu stormed into the room, Gumbo at first thought it was a ghost which was coming to attack him.

The court further heard that on 10 October 2022, Ndebele met Chishapira in town and took her to his flat where they engaged in s_əx.

It is reported that while the two were busy enjoying each other, Mpofu barged into the bedroom and started assaulting Ndebele with fists and open hands on the face, chest, and neck and back while accusing him of having an affair with his “wife”.

The daring Mpofu went on to take a guitar which he used to assault him with on the back resulting in it breaking into pieces.

He further kicked his 55-inch Samsung TV causing it to fall to the ground and smash its screen.

The two victims reported the matter to the police and investigations led to Mpofu’s arrest.

16 Cattle Struck By Lightning

(3) three Lupane families watched in sorrow as 16 of their cattle that were struck dead by lightning were buried.
The lightning incident occurred last week Thursday in Mbembesi 1, in Lupane East Constituency.

While losing cattle is sad on its own, the sight of the carcasses being buried in the ground without benefitting anything from them is unbearable.

Culturally, it is taboo to touch anything struck by lightning or burn it before some rituals are performed.

The items can then be burnt or buried underground and it is believed that this prevents further strikes.

Kusile Rural District Councillor forward 23 Fibion Ngwenya said of the 16 beasts, 13 belonged to one family while two others lost two and one respectively.

“Yes, 16 cattle were struck dead by lightning in my ward. Thirteen of them belong to one person while another family had two and another one beast struck dead.

The incident happened on Thursday and the beasts were buried underground on Friday.

“They went to see the carcasses and could not do anything because culturally they cannot be burnt which happens even when a tree is struck by lightning. It is first cut and gathered together. So, they ended up digging a trench and burying them all,” said Cllr Ngwenya.

He could not give more details as his phone lost network connection during the interview.

The owners of the cattle could not be identified as Mbembesi 1 area, a resettlement area southeast of St Luke’s has network connection challenges.

The incident happened just a day after four villagers in the same district in Lupane West constituency lost nine cattle that were hit by a haulage truck that ploughed into a herd last Wednesday in Chimwara area.

A Botswana registered truck reportedly hit 11 beasts and seven died on the spot while two others died a distance away.

The truck was headed toward Bulawayo and the accident occured at a depression between Halfway and Gwayi River.

However, the lightning incident is not the first tragedy to befall Lupane after Evans Moyo (22) of Ndimimbili Village under Chief Mabhikwa and his three-year-old daughter were struck dead early this month while at home.

The lightning incident left Moyo’s wife Nomatter (23) with burns and she was treated and discharged at St Luke’s Hospital.

Early this year, a 13-year-old Thabo Ndlovu from Chidobe outside Victoria Falls and his friend Andrew Mpunzi cheated death when a bolt of lightning struck their herd of cattle in a bush killing three oxen and a heifer on the spot.

The Two Form One boys had gone to herd cattle in a bush near their village when it started raining in the afternoon before a bolt of lightning struck.

Three goats were also struck dead in a separate incident at almost the same time in the neighbouring BH10 village.- Chronicle

Socceroos Dismiss Tunisia

Australia sparked their World Cup campaign into life thanks to a 1-0 win over Tunisia, secured by Mitchell Duke’s excellent first-half header.

The Socceroos, who lost their opening game to France on Tuesday, went into the game knowing another defeat would end their World Cup with a game to spare.

Graham Arnold’s side started like a team that knew they had to bounce back and forced Tunisia to spend much of the opening exchanges inside their own half.

Tunisia made one change, with Naim Sliti replacing Anis Ben Slimane in the front three.

Australia also made one change to their side, with Fran Karacic coming in for Nathaniel Atkinson at right-back.

Australia’s pressure told in the 23rd minute, when Craig Goodwin’s left-wing cross took a deflection before finding Duke, who readjusted superbly to guide a glancing header past the despairing Aymen Dahmen and inside the far post.

Tunisia improved after the break but struggled to break down a resolute Australia, who now lie second in Group D with three points ahead of France’s clash with Denmark on Saturday afternoon, while Tunisia are bottom with just one point and zero goals.-Sky Sports

30 Displaced As Violence Unleashed Against Gutu CCC

Political violence rocking Gutu District and perpetrated by Zanu PF youth ahead of the 2023 general elections is creating a humanitarian crisis by the day with more than 30 families running away from home and workplaces, Lloyd Mupfudze, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) district elections officer has said.
He appealed to well-wishers for food and shelter for the victims of the violence adding that the situation was growing into a humanitarian crisis.

Officer Commanding Masvingo East, Superintendent Taurai Mambure was forced to call an urgent all-parties meeting on Wednesday to discuss the issue of violence.

He barred The Mirror from the meeting and refused to give a statement after the more than 4 hours’ deliberations.

Efforts to get a comment from Lovemore Matuke who is not only Zanu PF secretary for security in the politburo but the most senior party politician in the district and a Senator were futile as he did not pick his phone.

Mufudze availed to The Mirror a list of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists who deserted their homes at Mpandawana and surrounding areas either after being attacked or receiving death threats.

“There is a crisis. Families that have run away from their homes don’t have shelter and food. Others have lost sources of income after being pushed out of their workplaces. These victims and their children need to eat and a place to sleep but we have no means to help.

“Many people are sleeping in the bush for fear of being attacked at night. The majority of the victims are residents of Mpandawana while others stay on the outskirts of the growth point.

“Many people have moved together with their children out of the district to Harare and other places. There is well organised and funded violence in the district and Police is not arresting anyone to the extent that some people are assaulted at Police stations and in front of senior officers.

“The godfathers of the violence are known and they openly brag about it. Gangs of hired thugs move in groups in broad daylight armed with banned weapons like catapults, knobkerries, stones and machetes. They choose their victims randomly and they abduct, assault men and women in public,” said Mupfudze.

Four Makumbe brothers Tom, Kudakwashe, Nhamo and Jervas were severely assaulted, thrown into sewerage and their phones crashed. They have a welding company at Mpandawana Growth Point but they closed shop and disappeared.

CCC councilor, Bernard Chimwango’s wife, Blessing Chiriga was assaulted this week at the main bus rank. She and her children have left the district for fear of further attacks. Chimwango is also no longer staying at his house which is at Mpandawana.

Many CCC activists no longer visit Mpandawana or wear yellow clothes in the business center as this has attracted attacks.

The ringleader in the attack has been identified as Josephat Sarukore who is the Zanu PF District chair. Sarukore’s brothers Tawanda and Samson have also been fingered while Joseph Mudziwepasi, a son of a businessman in the growth point has openly confirmed his role in the violence.

Last November, the same Zanu PF gangs attacked and killed Nyasha Zhambe from Chief Mawere’s when they stopped a vehicle in which he was travelling in after setting up an illegal roadblock.

The suspects were all positively identified through videos and other means but the case died a natural death after Police swept it under the carpet. –Masvingo Mirror

Girlfriend Struck Dead With Iron Bar

In a gruelling attack, a 26-year old woman from Old Pumula, Bulawayo died after her boyfriend allegedly brutally assaulted her with an iron bar and pushed her head through a door.

Nobuhle Mlambo spent about a month in the intensive care unit before succumbing to the injuries she sustained in the savage beating on Sunday last week. The motive for the ruthless assault has not been established. Neighbours told Chronicle that as Mlambo hung on the door, with splinters piercing her neck, her boyfriend — known only as Moses — kicked and strangled her. They said they were afraid to intervene because Moses was often violent.

Moses, they said, habitually beat up Mlambo and she had been treated in hospital multiple times after he abused her. The neighbours said Mlambo bled from the ears and nose as she was rushed to hospital. Her death just five days before the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a painful reminder of how some people continue being abusive in relationships.

Bulawayo provincial police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said Mlambo died at around 9PM at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH). Moses is still at large and police have launched a manhunt for him.

“On October 17, 2022 at around 10AM, the father of the victim received an anonymous call informing him that his daughter was being assaulted by the accused person using an iron bar over an undisclosed matter,” said Asst Insp Msebele.

She said Mlambo’s father rushed to his daughter’s house only to find her unconscious and bleeding from the head. Asst Insp Msebele said Mlambo was ferried to UBH where she died last week.

She was buried at Luveve Cemetery on Saturday.

“Members of the public are warned against violence. They should choose better ways of resolving their disputes and not taking the law into their own hands as it starts as a mere assault which then turns into murder. We are also appealing to members of the public for information that may lead to the arrest of the accused person to report at any nearest police station,” said Asst Insp Msebele.

Mlambo’s brother, Mr David Dlamini (33) said Moses used to severely beat his sister up.

“My sister was severely assaulted by this man because when we found her, she was hanging on a broken door where half of her upper body was outside the house and the other inside. It is clear that he broke the door by smashing her through it,” said Mr Dlamini.

He said the post-mortem revealed that Moses also strangled her. Mr Dlamini said what pains him the most is that the accused person who is well known in the area as Moses Remai is still roaming around the suburb freely.

“The case was reported to Pumula Police Station but efforts to arrest the man who is living his life freely are not visible. The police from this area are clearly not doing their job because how can they fail to arrest a man who lives here. When I also go to enquire about the progress on his arrest, they harass me so I don’t know how we can be assisted so that justice is served,” said Mr Dlamini.

He appealed to members of the public to assist him and the family in securing Moses’s arrest.

The annual international campaign dubbed “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” is designed to fight violence against women and girls. It runs from 25 November to 10 December which is Human Rights Day.

This year’s theme is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.

Minister of Women’s Affairs, Community and SMEs Development, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni last week, during the national launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, decried escalating violence against women and children.

She said from January to September 2022, 435 rape cases were reported and of these, 58 percent involved minors. She said a total of 959 sexual violence cases and 1 038 domestic violence cases were also reported during the period.

Dr Nyoni said many cases go unreported, all in the name of preserving “the family name.”- Chronicle

Argentina Overcome Rivals Mexico

Carthage Eagles Face Elimination
