Zim Cig Smugglers Caught In The Act In SA

State Media – South African police have intensified their crackdown on the smuggling of cigarettes from Zimbabwe via Beitbridge and illegal crossing points along the Limpopo River, seizing five vehicles and cigarettes worth more than R400 000 on Thursday, arresting 11 of the suspected Zimbabwean smugglers.
Police cornered the five vehicles after a high-speed car chase with the help of a farm watch, and after a fist fight with the farm watch members, the 11 were arrested. Another five vehicles in the same smuggling convoy escaped.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police were not relenting in their quest to dismantle the cigarette syndicates.

“Members of the Limpopo Tracking Team and Capricorn Highway Patrol operationalised information received about 10 motor vehicles that were smuggling illicit cigarettes from Zimbabwe to South Africa.”

The convoy was driving south down the N1 Road from Musina to Louis Trichardt direction.

The security team caught up with them along the Piesanghoek Road where they had detoured to avoid police. On sight of the police, the Zimbabweans sped off and a high speed chase ensued.

Five vehicles were then cornered with the help of members of the Louis Trichardt Farm Watch. The other five managed to escape.

“The cornered group tried to engage in a fistfight with Farm Watch members but they were ultimately subdued and apprehended. The five vehicles were found loaded with cigarettes,” said Brig Mojapelo.

All 11 suspects were found to be undocumented Zimbabweans.

He said police had seized two BMWs, a Ford Territory, Nissan Pathfinder and an Audi A4 and 31 crate-boxes and 407 packs of cigarettes at an estimated value of R426 640.

“The intensification of intelligence driven operations to prevent the smuggling of illicit cigarettes into the country led to the arrest of 11 suspects,” said Brig Mojapelo.

“We also seized illicit cigarettes and five of the 10 motor vehicles that were transporting them along the Piesanghoek Road in the early hours of Thursday.”

The suspects will appear before a Louis Trichardt magistrate soon charged for dealing with and possession of illicit cigarettes, contravention of the Immigration Act and resisting arrest, plus, for the drivers, reckless and negligent driving and driving a motor vehicle without a driving licence.

Limpopo police commanders, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe commended her subordinates for a well-coordinated operation.

She also thanked members of the Farm Watch for assisting the police in fighting crime.

A few days ago a 45-year-old Zimbabwean man was jailed for an effective five years in South Africa for smuggling a contraband of cigarettes worth over R300 000.

Oliver Mupanga was sent to prison without an option of fine and added another three months’ imprisonment, for entering South Africa without a passport when he appeared at the Senwabarwana Regional Court.

The sentences will run concurrently and the vehicle a Toyota Corolla with Registration number CMT 730 L was forfeited to the State.

The man was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The main driver of the smuggling operations is the huge gap in tobacco taxes. Smugglers can buy cigarettes in Zimbabwe at wholesale or retail prices, and so paying the Zimbabwean tobacco taxes.

If they then smuggle them into South Africa they can sell these at a steep discount to the price of South African taxed cigarettes and still make huge profits.

The smuggling of cigarettes from Zimbabwe into South Africa through illegal crossing points along the Limpopo River is rife.

It is understood that 30 percent of cigarettes smoked in South Africa are from Zimbabwe including Pacific, Remington Gold, Mega, Dullahs, Branson and Sevilles.

Ideally a carboard crate of cigarette cartons is bought at US$120 from local producers and sold for between US$250 and US$300 to the syndicates who then smuggle it into South Africa where it sells for anything above R15 000.

Those that illegally transport the commodity across borders are paid between R100 and R300 per cardboard crate and in most cases this is done under the cover of darkness. -state media

Marriage For London Air Ticket

The script sounds like a Tyler Perry production of one of his Hollywood blockbuster movies except that its real and the characters are real people in Zimbabwe.

A WhatsApp group message is calling for a middle-aged man to pair up with a 32-year-old woman for an arranged marriage.

Arranged marriages are not unique in some societies. But this ‘‘arranged’’ marriage that is being advertised online, where the whole world can see, is purely for monetary gains — for both parties.

It’s a marriage of convenience for the man and woman — once they are a married couple they can easily relocate to the United Kingdom.

Such a fake marriage of convenience is designed to expedite the processing of spousal visas to enable the bogus couple to travel to the UK for employment.

It’s a thriving business for the brokers that facilitate the marriages of convenience. And droves of Zimbabweans are happy to enter into phony marriages just to hop into the next flight for greener pastures.

Saturday Chronicle was briefed that for one to secure a job, for instance in the UK, they require what is known as a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). COS is an electronic document issued by foreign employers to prove that one has secured a job, which in turn qualifies them to get a visa to go out of the country.

The COS document is not supposed to be sold but now money hungry individuals and companies have found a loophole they sell it for about £6 000, (US$7 000).

Spousal visas, arranged by the middlemen, enable two strangers to enter into a fake marriage to share the costs of the COS.

One social media page with thousands of followers is in the business of fixing fake marriages.

“We have here a 32-year-old woman looking for a man of about the same age willing to partner her to share the costs of the COS. Each party will pay half.

“When the spousal visas are out, you travel as a married couple and can divorce when you get to the UK, no worries. Inbox us your details such as age, location, profession and we will start the process,” reads the message.

But there is a catch. Once in a country like the UK, the newlyweds cannot just divorce at the snap of a finger when they get there. Saturday Chronicle was told that they should remain married for at least two years before terminating the sham union.

While acknowledging the existence of fake marriages, in their various forms, Registrar-General (RG) Henry Machiri said there is little the department can do to curb the scourge.

“We are not in a position to tell if a marriage is fake or not but we do keep records of every marriage in the country.

“Marriages of convenience are not unique to Zimbabwe and are common in many countries because people engage in such unions for various reasons. Some do it, for instance, to get work permits,” said Machiri.

But not all that glitters is gold for everyone who moves overseas for greener pastures. Countless reports of Zimbabwean caregivers in the UK being subjected to unfair labour practices, exploitation and poor salaries are abound.

A fortnight ago, a victim of such abuses in the UK recounted her story to the British media. She says that she was fired from her job and victimised after an interview with Home Office compliance officers after an investigation into illegal recruitment practices.

The lady says she was paid hourly rates of £8 instead of the stipulated £15 for caregivers and was victimised after a visit to her workplace by the Home Office in Coventry City. -state media

Release ZEC Report, President Chamisa Tells Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has challenged Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa to release the final delimitation document he received from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

On Thursday President Chamisa accused Mr Mnangagwa of concealing the crucial report.

“In the interest of transparency and accountability, and in terms of Sec 239(a) as read with Sec 161 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe,ZEC must release to the world the final report presented to @edmnangagwa This report must be known & seen so as to compare it with the gazetted one.”

On the current political crisis bedeviling the country, President Chamisa said:

“ZIMBABWE A HEALED & HEALING NATION…Zimbabwe shall be a healed place and a healing country. A place of refuge, safety, comfort and happiness.

We will drive out violence, fear, hate, intimidation, intolerance, marginalization and discrimination.”

Mnangagwa Negotiates Peace With Kasukuwere

By Peter Chiwenga| As Zimbabwe prepares for its next election, President Mnangagwa’s tactics to secure re-election have come into question. According to sources close to the situation, the president has deployed emissaries to recruit and buy support from former Saviour Kasukuwere supporters. The emissaries are led by former Mp Maduza and former Mp Mashange, two former loyalists of Kasukuwere who have since been given money to sell him out.

Kasukuwere poses a major threat to President Mnangagwa’s re-election, as he is widely seen as the best candidate for the future of Zimbabwe. With a strong track record of public service and a commitment to making Zimbabwe a better place, Kasukuwere has the potential to lead the country in a new direction. His charismatic personality and ability to connect with the people have made him a popular figure in Zimbabwe, and his popularity continues to grow.

The deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa is seen as a clear indication of his fear of losing the election. By buying the loyalty of former Kasukuwere supporters, the president is attempting to secure their votes and ensure his re-election. However, these tactics have not gone unnoticed by the public, who view them as a clear attempt to manipulate the election outcome.

The deployment of emissaries has raised concerns about the fairness of the upcoming election. Many believe that the president is using these tactics to undermine the democratic process and ensure his re-election. The potential consequences of these actions could be devastating for Zimbabwe, as they could undermine the public’s faith in the electoral process and create further political instability.

It is important to note that Zimbabwe’s future depends on a free and fair election, and it is the responsibility of all parties involved to ensure that this happens. The deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa is a clear indication that he is not confident in his ability to win the election on his own merit, and that he is resorting to underhanded tactics to secure re-election.

In conclusion, the deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa raises serious questions about the fairness of the upcoming election in Zimbabwe. The public deserves a free and fair election, and it is the responsibility of all parties involved to ensure that this happens. With a strong candidate like Saviour Kasukuwere, Zimbabwe has the potential to move in a new direction and secure a brighter future.- Peter Chiwenga

Stop Abusing Soldiers, Mnangagwa Told

Tinashe Sambiri| The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has reduced the country’s uniformed forces to mere beggars.

Hon Biti accused the Zanu PF regime of abusing members of the uniformed forces.

Zanu PF MP Causes Havoc In Bikita

BIKITA – Parents at Zengeya Primary in Bikita are complaining that their local MP is meddling in the affairs of the school and that he recently forced the School Development Authority (SDA) to give a tender to paint the school to a Zanu PF youth who is his election campaign agent.

Parents who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization said Bikita South MP, Josiah Sithole allegedly threatened authorities at the school and forced Zengeya Primary which is a council school to give the tender to Edward Sarireni Kwasha without following tender procedures.

They alleged that Sithole runs Government institutions in Bikita with an iron fist.

“Sithole told school authorities that Zanu is in power and as such, its supporters must be awarded tenders without any scrutiny,” said the sources.

Contacted for comment, Sithole said he did not force the school to give the tender but he advised Kwasha to speak to the authorities nicely after the latter called him for help when the school appeared not keen on giving him the job. He told The Mirror that Kwasha was eventually given the tender.

Sources said Sithole threatened the SDC and the school head with unspecified.

Efforts to get a comment from Zengeya school head Samuel Kufahakurambwi were futile as his mobile could not be reached by the time of going to Press.

Sithole accused his political enemies of creating the allegations to tarnish his image.

“I am aware of the matter, Kwasha is at work at the school as we speak after I advised him to talk to the authorities nicely. I just advised him, I did not get involved in the matter directly,” said Sithole.

Kwasha said he called the MP after painters from outside the constituency were on the verge of winning the tender.

“I never threatened anyone. I won the tender because I have children who attend school at Zengeya. We called the MP after some people from outside the constituency were about to snatch the tender,” said Kwasha.- Masvingo Mirror

12-Year-Old Boy Survives Croc Attack

By- A 12-year-old Buhera boy fought and escaped from a crocodile that had attacked him as he crossed the save River.

Delvin Mutsvakiwa, a Grade Seven student at St Moses Primary School in Buhera, was badly injured on both hands.

The boy said he poked his fingers into the reptile’s nostrils, a lesson he had received from his grandmother.

With the crocodile’s air supply running low, it became powerless and let Delvin go.

The boy took the opportunity to quickly swim to safety.

Delvin told The Manica Post that the incident happened when they were helping cattle cross the Save River. He spoke in an interview held after he was discharged from Murambinda Mission Hospital after a two-day stay at the institution. He said:

We were helping our cattle cross Save River and I was in front. We had helped the first and second batches of our herd to cross the river. We were crossing with the last batch when I felt a sharp pain on my left arm.

I realised that a crocodile was attacking me. My friends who were behind me ran back to the riverbank and started shouting, advising me to wade to the reeds.

I shouted back that it was too deep for me to do that. I could see that if I took heed of their advice, the reptile would eventually overpower and kill me.

That’s when I poked my fingers into the crocodile’s nostrils. After a few minutes, I realised that it had become powerless. It let go its grip on my hand and I quickly swam to the riverbank.

I was badly injured and was bleeding profusely. I had to put some sand on the wounds to stop the bleeding.

The crocodile followed Delvin’s blood trail and caught up with him.

The reptile, however, caught a goat that was passing by and disappeared into the river.

At that time, Delvin’s three friends had rushed to the village to inform the elders that he had been attacked by a crocodile. He added:

Had the crocodile attacked me for the second time, I would not have survived since I was now powerless. I had lost a lot of blood and was already feeling dizzy.

When I saw it opening its mouth, I closed my eyes and waited for fate to take its course since I could no longer defend myself.

His mother, Ms Matilda Mutsvakiwa, said when fellow villagers arrived at the river, they were already crying as they thought that Delvin was long dead. She said:

There was no sight of him and the water in the river was bloody.

Little did we know that it was both Delvin’s blood and that of the goat which had ultimately become the crocodile’s meal.

People were crying and the village head was about to call the police to alert them of Delvin’s death when a weak Delvin shouted that he was alive and was across the river.

I thank God for rescuing my son and giving him a second chance to life.

Ms Mutsvakiwa added that quite recently, Delvin’s cousin lost his life after a crocodile attacked him at the same crossing point and that’s when her mother started imparting survival skills on her grandchildren.

The grandchildren were taught to either put a reed inside the reptile’s mouth or insert their fingers in its nostrils.

Buhera North legislator, William Mutomba, has since adopted the boy, contributed US$300 towards Delvin’s medical bills and has also offered to pay for the boy’s secondary school education.

Chiwenga Implicated In The Mysterious Death Of Prominent Harare Businessman

By James Gwati- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has been fingered in the mysterious death of a Harare businessman, whom he grabbed a government tender from.

George Mushambi (51), the director of Tawana Power Corporation, died in Harare this week after a short illness.

His death follows wrangles with Chiwenga over a multi-million dam construction government tender the late won, which the vice President blocked and later hijacked.

Tawana Power Corporation was awarded a tender to construct the Kondo-Chitowe dam in Manicaland in 2018.

The water project was going to be the most significant inland dam to generate Electricity and feed into the national grid. It would also benefit local communities with irrigation and other farming activities.

The company working with the government had also signed bilateral agreements with the governments of South Africa (Limpopo province) and Mozambique, whose two countries the project was also going to supply both water and power generation.

Chiwenga blocked the tender and grabbed the project after realising the intensity of the project.

Mushambi had taken Chiwenga to the courts challenging these two developments.

One of Mushamba’s top business advisors has since fled the country for fear of persecution.

Another local Mushambi associate who is close to these developments told ZimEye that there were strong suspicions that Chiwenga could have poisoned the late businessman.

He said: We are surprised by his death, which happened suddenly, but we are not surprised by who caused it. We are very confident that Chiwenga has a hand, given the battles Mushambi was having with this top military man. Our suspicion, which can not go down the drain, is that Chiwenga could have sent some slay queens to poison this guy.

Mushambi was buried at Glen Forestry cemetery in Harare today.

Efforts to get a comment from Chiwenga were fruitless as his phone was not reachable at the time of publishing this story.

Promoting Good Health For Infants

An estimated 5 million children died before their fifth birthday and another 2.1 million children and youth aged between 5–24 years lost their lives in 2021, according to the latest estimates released by the United Nations Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (UN IGME).

In a separate report also released today, the group found that 1.9 million babies were stillborn during the same period. Tragically, many of these deaths could have been prevented with equitable access and high-quality maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health care.

“Every day, far too many parents are facing the trauma of losing their children, sometimes even before their first breath,” said Vidhya Ganesh, UNICEF Director of the Division of Data Analytics, Planning and Monitoring. “Such widespread, preventable tragedy should never be accepted as inevitable. Progress is possible with stronger political will and targeted investment in equitable access to primary health care for every woman and child.”

The reports show some positive outcomes with a lower risk of death across all ages globally since 2000. The global under-5 mortality rate fell by 50% since the start of the century, while mortality rates in older children and youth dropped by 36%, and the stillbirth rate decreased by 35%. This can be attributed to more investments in strengthening primary health systems to benefit women, children and young people.

However, gains have reduced significantly since 2010, and 54 countries will fall short of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals target for under-5 mortality. If swift action is not taken to improve health services, warn the agencies, almost 59 million children and youth will die before 2030, and nearly 16 million babies will be lost to stillbirth.

“It is grossly unjust that a child’s chances of survival can be shaped just by their place of birth, and that there are such vast inequities in their access to lifesaving health services,” said Dr Anshu Banerjee, Director for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing at the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Children everywhere need strong primary health care systems that meet their needs and those of their families, so that – no matter where they are born – they have the best start and hope for the future.”

Children continue to face wildly differentiating chances of survival based on where they are born, with sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia shouldering the heaviest burden, the reports show. Though sub-Saharan Africa had just 29% of global live births, the region accounted for 56% of all under-5 deaths in 2021, and southern Asia for 26% of the total.

Children born in sub-Saharan Africa are subject to the highest risk of childhood death in the world – 15 times higher than the risk for children in Europe and northern America.

Mothers in these 2 regions also endure the painful loss of babies to stillbirth at an exceptional rate, with 77% of all stillbirths in 2021 occurring in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. Nearly half of all stillbirths happened in sub-Saharan Africa. The risk of a woman having a stillborn baby in sub-Saharan Africa is 7 times more likely than in Europe and North America.

“Behind these numbers are millions of children and families who are denied their basic rights to health,” said Juan Pablo Uribe, Global Director for Health, Nutrition and Population, World Bank and Director of the Global Financing Facility. “We need political will and leadership for sustained financing for primary health care which is one of the best investments countries and development partners can make.”

Access to and availability of quality health care continues to be a matter of life or death for children globally. Most child deaths occur in the first five years, of which half are within the first month of life. For these youngest babies, premature birth and complications during labour are the leading causes of death.

Similarly, more than 40% of stillbirths occur during labour – most of which are preventable when women have access to quality care throughout pregnancy and birth. For children that survive past their first 28 days, infectious diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria pose the biggest threat.

While COVID-19 has not directly increased childhood mortality – with children facing a lower likelihood of dying from the disease than adults – the pandemic may have increased future risks to their survival. In particular, the reports highlight concerns around disruptions to vaccination campaigns, nutrition services, and access to primary health care, which could jeopardize their health and well-being for many years to come. In addition, the pandemic has fuelled the largest continued backslide in vaccinations in three decades, putting the most vulnerable newborns and children at greater risk of dying from preventable diseases.

The reports also note gaps in data, which could critically undermine the impact of policies and programmes designed to improve childhood survival and well-being.

“The new estimates highlight the remarkable global progress since 2000 in reducing mortality among children under age 5,” said John Wilmoth, Director, UN DESA Population Division. “Despite this success, more work is needed to address persistent large differences in child survival across countries and regions, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Only by improving access to quality health care, especially around the time of childbirth, will we be able to reduce these inequities and end preventable deaths of newborns and children worldwide.”

Zanu PF MP Causes Terror In Bikita

Equipping Artisanal Miners For Prosperity

3Ps of Artisanal mining

Lack of knowledge of how things work
Basically Artisanal mining is communal mining.

The best way to have a proper understanding before you sponsor think like a gvt or NGO sponsoring communal farmers waiting for rain with fertilisers or tractor they know exactly what they want .

Gold is there in all districts of Zimbabwe but some districts have more than other districts .

Furthermore methods used are primitive but developing each day .inorder to succeed know the people involved, process and procedure plus product. You should know what you are selling to the miner not what they think they are selling to you .
Below are the 3Ps in detail
1 people
2 process
3 product
People
Mine owner
This the legal owner with rights to holding and dealing with gold who has his/her name on mine certificate or tribute form . This is the only person with legal grounds to sign contract with you has the right to handle and deal with gold usually represented by appointed manager.

These two ( manager and owner ) are key to on paper agreements not on the ground verbal agreements they legalise your wishes to sponsor unless if you are requesting for a shaft with your own “people ” .
Workers/shareholders
These are the people who do the work , so important to the agreement such that without their approval your presence is useless. They know everything can easily misrepresent facts to suit their agenda because they handle gold before anyone does like it or not .

Always remember this gold is a currency on its own . This will be covered in another article.
3 gvt officials CID minerals , ministry of mines , EMA , RDC and gold mobilisation team .
These have oversight on gold , land , environment and safety of workers
4 illegal gold buyers: These are people who buy gold illegally Always having hard cash can easily take over your agreements especially towards the end of the transaction when they know its pay time . These don’t just sponsor they borrow money at pay point usually not more 48hr cash loan . To us who know the game we use them as yardstick to measure whether gold is in abundance or barren .

Process
1 sample identification
First step where usually workers use limited resources to identify gold rich reef to set up shaft or resuscitation an old one this could cost between 300usd to 500usd .these are available in large numbers across the country.
Resources mobilisation
When shaft is readily available shares in exchange for all needed resources.

This is a stage you or your proxy should be heavily involved
3 mining phase little monitoring
4 milling phase be there all the time you or your proxy
Product
Identify what you are offering and what you want from them don’t let them tell you identify it .

Eg in our database we have a miner who wants 1500usd for tank resuscitation with workers around 100 to 150 . You can give 1500usd refundable with 20% interest plus you supply safety clothing to the 100 workers every 3months plus cyanide and chemical supply every month with between 10% to 20% interest.

Pastor In Court For Selling Non-Existent To South Korean Counterpart

A local pastor appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court yesterday facing a fraud charge after he allegedly sold a non-existent church stand to his South Korean counterpart who is into missionary work in Zimbabwe.

Blessing Bentura, a pastor at the New Creation in Christ Ministries, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje and was remanded in custody to February 28 pending finalisation of investigations.

The complainant is Dong-Chan Jun of Paul Missionary International.

Allegations are that sometime in May last year, the complainant approached Bentura enquiring on how he could acquire a stand to build a church in the Hopley area.

Bentura offered to assist and introduced the complainant to Tendai Katsaira who is already on remand on the same matter.

It is alleged that on May 21, 2022, Bentura acting in connivance with Katsaira showed the complainant Stand Number 7358 measuring 5 000sqm, which Katsaira said was valued  at between US$10 000 and US$12 000.

Bentura demanded a down payment of US$6 000.

The complainant then paid the money in tranches of US$500 on June 11, US$1 900 on June 17 2022, US$1 900 on July 9 2022 and US$1 700 on July 13 2022.

Acting in connivance with Katsaira, they fraudulently generated some receipts purporting to be development fee from the evaluation and estates division of City of Harare for all the money received from complainant.

They later became evasive, resulting in the South Korean approaching the City of Harare to enquire about the status of the land.

He was told the stand was non-existent, resulting in him filing a police report.

Controversy Surrounding Mbudzi Interchange Project Escalates

THE controversy surrounding funding for Harare’s Mbudzi interchange project has deepened amid reports that the project costs were inflated.

Wednesday confirmation by Finance minister Mthuli Ncube  that one of the companies involved in the project was its chief financier after signing a US$88 million loan deal with government at an interest rate of 5%, adds a new dimension to the saga.

Observers yesterday also questioned why government chose to borrow at high interest rates after initially claiming that part of the proceeds from  the InternationalMonetary Fund’s Special Drawing Rights would fund the road project.

Ncube announced in a Government Gazette that government had signed a US$88 million loan deal with Obey Chimuka’s Fossil Mines (Pvt) Ltd to find the project at an interest rate of 5% per annum.

Fossil Mines is a sister company to Fossil Contracting – one of the firms involved in the road infrastructure project.

NewsDay yesterday contacted one of Fossil Mines’ top officials Simbarashe Kaseke seeking clarity on the matter but he declined to comment.

“We are not allowed to comment and the Minister of Transport (Felix Mhona) is the one who has to speak to the media,” he said.

Mhona could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered, but a government source close to the deal told NewsDay that the project costs were inflated.

“The loan agreement was inflated …as it was initially US$42 million, but the figure was inflated,” the source claimed.

In December, the United States  government placed Fossil group chief executive officer Chimuka and two of his companies, Fossil Contracting and Fossil Agro, on its sanctions list “for their ties to the previously designated individual Kudakwashe Tagwirei and his company, Sakunda Holdings”.

Chimuka and Tagwirei are business allies.

Yesterday, political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said the loan facility was ridiculous.

“This is ridiculous,” said Ngwenya.

“This deal is just similar to the Pomona waste management deal on how it has been handled. I am urging the opposition party to discuss the matter in Parliament and reverse the deal.

“We need to ask ourselves why in most controversial deals we have the same companies because the government should have got that money from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe,” Ngwenya added.

Former Finance minister Tendai Biti said: “This is something else and ridiculous.”

The Mbudzi Interchange project is expected to ease congestion at the intersection of Harare-Beitbridge Highway and Simon Mazorodze Road.

Former Warriors Star Willard Katsande To Lose South African House Over Un-serviced Debt

Willard Katsande proved over and over that he was a determined footballer who did his job beautifully on the pitch.

But when it comes to his money matters, it appears he hasn’t exactly been on the ball.

AND THE MAN THEY CALL “BOSS YA MBOKA” MAY SOON FIND HIMSELF ON THE STREET!

SB Guarantee Company was granted a default judgment to repossess his house by the South Gauteng High Court on 3 February

The company, which is a subsidiary of Standard Bank, said in court papers that Katsande failed to make regular payments in terms of the loan agreement and the bond.

“This is an unopposed application for default judgment and an order declaring the immovable property of the respondent executable,” read the papers.

According to the papers that Daily Sun has seen, Katsande’s arrears have gone up to R200 611 after he missed about eight instalments.

“Since the issuing of summons, the arrears as well as the outstanding debt, has escalated.

One would realise that since the issuing of summons, the arrears as well as the outstanding debt, has not been paid,” SB Company said in court.

They asked the registrar be authorised to issue a writ of execution against the property.

The bank said the reserve price would be set at the market value of R2 200 000.

The forced sale value is R1 760 000 and the local authority valuation is R1 550 000.

“The outstanding rates and taxes owed is in the amount of R59 344, plus R23 237.”

After retiring, Katsande became popular on social media with dance moves and poses and called himself “Boss Ya Mboka”.

This led to him and his wife starting a clothing line of the same name.

Katsande told Daily Sun yesterday that he has started servicing his bond.

He said he has two bonded houses and he was paying for the house in question from the extra money he gets from his business.

“The other payment goes out via a debit order and the other house I pay via my bank app,” he said.

“There was a technical problem with the app that led me to paying one bond twice and not paying the other.

What happened is that I was paying one bond double”

Katsande said he spoke to the bank lawyers after they sent him summons and told them about the slip-up.

“I made the first payment at the end of January and I also paid some money towards the arrears.

“I think everything is sorted,” he said.

Malawi Experiencing Deadly Cholera Outbreak

Malawi is experiencing the deadliest cholera outbreak in its history, say World Health Organization officials, who note that the disease has left more than 1,200 people dead and nearly 37,000 others infected since March of last year. The U.N. released a statement Thursday as an update on the situation.

Cholera is an “acute enteric infection caused by ingesting the bacteria ‘Vibrio cholerae’ present in contaminated water or food,” according to WHO. The agency says Malawi’s government declared the outbreak as a public health emergency in December.

Most people infected with cholera do not experience symptoms, and if they do, the symptoms are mild. However, more severe cases can become fatal within hours if untreated as the infected develop “acute watery diarrhea and vomiting leading to severe dehydration.”

Cholera is easily treatable through “prompt administration of oral rehydration solution (ORS) and successful rehydration therapy,” according to WHO.

The WHO has taken measures to address the outbreak, such as drafting a national cholera outbreak response plan, deploying national rapid response teams in the affected areas, and collecting data.

The United Nations administered two large vaccination campaigns, but due to limited supplies, they only offered one of the usual two doses. The second batch sent in November contained 3 million vaccines and all were used. Malawi is a nation of nearly 20 million people.

Twenty-three countries are currently experiencing outbreaks, according to WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Twenty more countries that share borders with the affected nations are also at risk. “In total, more than one billion people around the world are directly at risk of cholera,” the French news agency quoted him as saying.

WHO “assesses the risk of this outbreak to be very high at national and regional level,” according to an agency statement. “There is an urgent need to improve access to safe water sanitation and hygiene.”

Linda Masarira Puppetry Reaches Another Level

Linda Masarira’s “sudden content” : A justification of the PVO bill and the bastardization of the CCC

By Womberaiishe Nhende

7 February 2023

I shall be blunt from the departure regards the multi thread tweet and say it wasn’t her content. Having known Linda for a stretch of calanders, her level of content and ability to coin logical disposition or at least a semblance of well crafted information , the streets were shocked by the content and a conclusion which l will die defending is that whatever tweeted was not authored by Her Excellency the leader of LEAD.

The thread and its content is indicative of the fissures that are apparent in the ruining party and the counter intelligence efforts to hoodwink the citizens that their movement is a western idea and also that progressive organisations in the civic space are counter revolutionary and a western agenda to “destabilise”.

Rising against hunger is not a western idea , calling human rights violators to order is not western , calling corruption and its leading pack to order is not western, seeking leadership change because of failed governance is not western, yearning for independent national institutions is not western, political consciousness is never western, realising generational mandate and gearing up to fulfill it is not western.

The deliberate attempt by Rinda to equate Mugabe to Chamisa indicates the height of desparation, fear and unsettled despots who are clutching on straws to remain in power.

Rinda even had the audacity to invoke historical events pre and post colonial citing the assassinations of revolutionaries and portraying the same modus operandi is a westernized idea of trying to fuse in the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change CCC into power matrix of today .

The absurdity of her nonsense is even broadcast from the point of everyone knowing that Linda in person is a empty cannon and hence she was just but used by those who reside in the Jongwe house to convey a justification for the PVO bill and its intended structural reforms that seek to block and shrink democratic space in Zimbabwe.

Zanu PF being itself looked for a possible and usable expendable Opposition4ED member and dangled a new carrot so that this narrative hits the ground.

Anyone devoid of political consciousness and comprehension will read the thread with gullible wits risking political misinformation.

The timing thereof was deliberate and on point just to make a backed defense for the draconian PVO bill whilst citing that banned organisations where or are agents of regime change .

Linda as empty as she is, has made loud noise as an agent of statecraft and the compromised opposition entities like hers must be called out and condemned in the strongest terms possible.

As we watch the space , nothing prophetic but l can assure you that sooner than later dubious statements of endorsement for ED and his despotic regime shall be the order of the day as Opposition4ED , Fools4ED , Mahure4ED jostle for relevance and election low hanging monies.

Zanu PF is at work and Linda is one of the employees. The day we start to beleive compromised individuals like Linda is the day we lose our dignity as the politically conscious. She cannot even spell her name under pressure.

CCC Youth Leader Sends Strong Warning To Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri| Fearless CCC youth taskforce spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, has urged young people to assume a common garb in the fight against the Zanu PF regime.

According to Sarkozy, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is not superhuman at all.

” Mr Mnangagwa will be removed by young people. Nobody is invincible. Mr Mnangagwa thinks he will stay in power forever, there is nothing like that.

Remember Mobutu was removed by people power, Idi Amin was also kicked out of office by citizens.

Ian Douglas Smith had his days but he was removed from power by the people and as you know we also dismissed Robert Mugabe,” Sarkozy said.

Aubameyang Finds New Home

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set end his Chelsea nightmare as he reportedly on the verge of joining a new side on a loan contract until the end of the season.

According to Le10Sport, the striker has agreed to move to America’s Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC in a deal which would see the Blues save money by getting his £7.9million-a-year wages off their books.

The report adds that there are only a few details left to agree on between the involved parties.

The reported transfer comes days after Aubameyang was dropped from Chelsea’s Champions League squad for the knockout stages.

Coach Graham Potter omitted the former Gabon captain, who hasn’t started a single game for the Blues since November, to make room for new signing Enzo Fernandez.

Explaining the omission, the gaffer said: “Pierre is a professional and, of course, I understand he will be disappointed. It was a tough decision, a tough call.

“We had three coming in and two had to go out. He was the one that missed out, he’s done nothing wrong at all.”

Potter added: “Pierre’s just unfortunate and he will be fighting for his place for the rest of the season. He has handled it very well. He’s been a top, top guy for us.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Christian Atsu Still Missing

Turkish club Hatayspor’s team-doctor Gurbey Kahveci has offered a contrasting update on Christian Atsu just a day after it was reported that the Ghana international had been found.

Atsu went missing following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the Southern Turkey and north of Syria on Monday morning.

The 31-year-old was reported to have been buried by the rubles of a collapsed building before the rescue operators pulled him out alive on Tuesday.

Statements by CAF, Ghana FA and officials in Turkey confirmed that the player was rescued and taken to a local hospital.

However, Kahveci has since dismissed the claims, saying Atsu has still not been located.

“When we heard the news that he was taken to Dortyol Hospital, we especially went and looked, but he was not there,” said the doctor, as cited by the TalkSPORT website.

“At the moment, we accept that Savut Taner and Christian Atsu were not found [on Monday night], unfortunately.”

Atsu’s agent echoed the same sentiments, saying: “We are doing everything we can to locate Christian.

“As you can imagine, this continues to be a devastating time for his family.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Holy Ten Loses 5 000 Fans Over Winky D Diss

By- Upcoming Hip-hop musician Holly Ten has lost followers over bashing top dancehall chanter Winky D.

Holy Ten has lost about five thousand Instagram followers in 24 hours after his anti-Gaffa President statements.

Early this week, he called Winky D, a snake

Holy Ten and Winky D collaborated on Ibotso, a song from Winky D’s latest offering, Eureka.

The song has been interpreted to be political, with a Zanu PF black empowerment affiliated lobby grouping because of the song.

Holy Ten, who has previously said he regrets working with the Gaffa President dissed the Kambuzuma-raised chanter.

He said:

It can’t have been a setup. Because at the end of the day, even a snake… The man you are talking about is a snake longer than his dreadlocks. But even the snake did not force that apple on Eve. She was partly involved.

He spoke, and she made a decision. I am Eve. Maybe that’s why I didn’t graduate. I would have never done a song with Winky G. That’s me avoiding being sued. I’ve done Law. We’ve signed contracts.

The week started with Holy Ten sitting on 288 000 followers on Instagram and, at the time of publishing, was on 283 000.

Mnangagwa Trades Zimbabwe For A Mansion

By- The president of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been given a Mansion by the government of Equatorial Guinea.

According to the state media, the mansion, dubbed “Villa Zimbabwe” in Malabo, the capital, was presented by Equatorial Guinea’s president, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

Mnangagwa, 80, is on a three-day state visit to Equatorial Guinea, his second visit in two months, after attending President Nguema’s inauguration in December last year.

Mnangagwa was the only southern African leader at the inauguration after Nguema won the election with a 99% majority.

Maxwell Ranga, Zimbabwe’s west African envoy, said the fully furnished home with a gymnasium and full staff complement was a testament to good relations between the two countries.

Mnangagwa is in Malabo with his foreign affairs minister, Frederick Shava, and finance minister, Mthuli Ncube, as well as numerous senior government officials.

During the visit that ended on Thursday, the two leaders signed eight agreements, some of them to do with cooperation in sectors such as tourism, mining, and agriculture.

Nguema was last in Zimbabwe in 2018 a year after the late former president Robert Mugabe was ousted from power.

Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea’s relations go back to 2004, during Mugabe’s reign when Zimbabwe thwarted a team of mercenaries led by Simon Mann and financed by Mark Thatcher, the former British prime minister’s son, who were on their way to execute a coup in Equatorial Guinea.

Since then, Zimbabwe has been a security advisor to Nguema, who has since pardoned 64 mercenaries recruited in South Africa drawn from the apartheid-era special forces 32 Battalion

Mwonzora, ED, Lose Support To Chamisa

By-A recent survey has shown that Zimbabweans are rallying behind the CCC leader Nelson Chamisa as opposed to the MDC President Douglas Mwonzora, whom they “hated” most, a new research by SABI Strategy Group has claimed.
The survey, conducted in January using an in-depth 15-minute questionnaire for Brenthurst Foundation by the London-based SABI Strategy Group, shows that Mwonzora has the highest negative favourability rating among public figures tested.
The survey was conducted by Dr Greg Mills, who recently co-authored a book with Mr Tendai Biti, a prominent member of the opposition CCC.

The book, ‘Democracy Works’, was sponsored by the same Brenthurst Foundation where Mr Biti holds an influential position.
Among those interviewed, 55% said they do not like Mwonzora. Other hated politicians are Finance minister Mthuli Ncube (47%), Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga (46%) and President Emmerson Mnangagwa (41%).
Mwonzora’s party, the MDC, has the most unfavourable ratings among the major political parties tested.
The party’s negative favourability levels stood at 55%, while Zanu-PF came second at 45% and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was at 27%.
Following a humiliating electoral defeat in last year’s by-elections, Mwonzora went on a purging spree, expelling and silencing members that had questioned his leadership qualities and the party’s dismal performance.
The part, which was contesting under the MDC Alliance banner, failed to win a single seat in both the council and parliamentary by-elections. So bad was the performance that it got zero votes at some polling stations.
In December last year, Mwonzora held a congress which other senior members described as a sham.
Mwonzora on Monday expelled senior party executives, including his deputy Elias Mudzuri.
Mudzuri said he was saddened that the once popular opposition party was now a pale shadow of itself under the stewardship of Mwonzora.
“We are being led by people with selfish agendas,” he said.
Political analyst Pardon Taodzera said Mwonzora’s unpopularity was self-inflicted.
“Recent elections have shown that Mwonzora is, indeed, unpopular. His unpopularity emanates from the way he deals with party critics. He has shown that he is ruthless and this has made him very unpopular in the eyes of the public,” he said.
According to the survey, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa emerged as the public figure with the highest favourability score of 59%,, while Mnangagwa trailed with 43%, narrowly ahead of CCC MP and former MDC Finance minister Tendai Biti.
More voters believed the CCC would govern more effectively, with 47% favouring the opposition party ahead of Zanu-PF (33%).
The Brenthurst Foundation was established by an obscenely rich South African family in 2004, with the objective of funding civil society organisations that are in essence vehicles of regime change on the African continent.
Linda Masarira, a former ally of Mr Chamisa, wrote on Twitter that “Greg Mills of Brenthurst is handler of opposition puppets in Africa and Brenthurst Foundation is an Anglo American interested party that is biased”.

Aggrieved Harare Developer Approaches ConCourt To Stop Abuse Of Judiciary By Sharpe’s Pokugara Properties

Property developer George Katsimberis has appealed to the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) to be given more time to apply for leave to challenge a High Court ruling on his bid for permanent stay of parallel prosecutions against him.

Katsimberis wants the ConCourt to stop his prosecution for alleged fraud at the instigation of businessman Ken Sharpe’s Pokugara Properties following their fallout over a housing deal.

He is also a State witness in a case Pokugara Properties and some senior Harare City Council officials are being charged for perjury.

Kastimberis says he is being forced to appear in court as an accused and a State witness in related cases. He said this was a violation of his constitutional rights.

He made the latest application after ConCourt judges Justice Anne Gowora, Justice Paddington Garwe and Justice Ben Hlatswayo last week dismissed his earlier appeal for permanent stay of prosecution.

The judges ruled that he had filed his appeal late, and that he did not seek condonation as per court rules.

In the latest application, Katsimberis blamed the registrar of the Supreme Court for his failure to file his appeal on time.

He said his lawyers concluded all processes on October 3, 2022, but the registrar only issued the application on October 4.

“For completeness, I wish to confirm that I have previously filed an application for leave to appeal against that judgment under case number CCZ 51/22,” Katsimberis submitted.

“However, that application was struck off the roll by the Constitutional Court on January 30, 2023 on the basis that it had been filed out of time.

“I explain herein how that came about. It is in the hope of re-filing that application for leave to appeal that this application is made.”

Katsimberis added: “I held a good faith belief that the application in CCZ 51/22 had been filed in time until the hearing on 30 January, 2023. I am advised, and therefore have reason to believe, that my legal practitioners had also held a good faith belief that they had complied with the rules, as everything that they needed to do to file the application had been done and completed on 3 October 2022.

“And, had the registrar not delayed processing my application until after working hours, there would never have been an issue about any delay in filing.”

He said he was advised by his lawyers, which he believed that they had relied on guidance given to them by the registrar through a filing in a separate case that they consider the date when they accept the application as fulfilling all the requirements.

“This document was received by my legal practitioners on the very same date that they were dealing with the exact same issue regarding my application, and appears to support their view that they then adopted, namely that as my application was accepted on October 3, 2022, the application was filed in time,” Katsimberis said.

“I, therefore, make this application for extension of time within which to file my application leave to appeal.”

Katsimberis cited Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi and four magistrates, Letwin Rwodzi, Barbra Mateko, Noel Mupeiwa, Stanford Mambanje and prosecutor-general Nelson Mutsonziwa as respondents in the appeal.

Katsimberis in a witness in a case he is suing Sharpe and top Harare City Council officials for perjury and malicious damage to property after the local authority demolished his show house in Borrowdale, Harare.

He is also facing another case of fraud for building the said show house using a forged building plan.

The same people he accused of perjury and malicious damage to property in his case are witnesses against him in the other case.

Zanu PF Hijacks ZBC Journalist’s Funeral

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF in Midlands has hijacked the funeral of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) journalist, Tinashe Rupende.

Senior Zanu PF official in the province, who is also the Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Larry Mavima, rushed to the funeral and patronised it.

Mavima told scores of journalists, dignitaries, and others who worked with the late Rupende at gather that they (Zanu PF) used to take Rupende to several places for his journalism services.

Said Mavima: We lost a dedicated journalist who was always ready to serve his nation despite being down. We always came to pick him up to go long distances like Gokwe and anywhere in the province, and he was always there. He was a dedicated journalist who was always there when we needed his services. I am pleased to say he served his nation with pride up until his untimely death.

Police Gun-Down Dangerous Ruwa Armed Robber

By- Police in Ruwa have dunned down a notorious 29-year-old suspected armed robber.

Alexio Mupamhura, part of a seven-member gang targeting companies in Harare, was shot and killed by police during a shoot-out in Ruwa on Tuesday.

Alexio Mupamhura (29) died a few hours after being admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital.

His other accomplice, Deliverance Makomva (21), was arrested after police conducted more investigations.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Alexio Mupamhura (29) and Deliverance Makomva (21) in connection with two armed robbery cases which occurred on December 15, 2022 and the 7th of February 2023 in Harare,” he said.
“On February 6, 2023, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, received information which linked Alexio Mupamhura to a robbery case which occurred on December 15th, 2022 at Prime Irrigation Company along ED Mnangagwa Road, Highlands, Harare, where a security guard was attacked before a cellphone, five 12-volt lithium batteries, eight solar panels, a 5KW generator and US$700 cash were stolen.”

Mupamhura was later arrested and was found with gunshot wounds on the chest and leg.
“During interview by the police, the suspect implicated Deliverance Makomva and five others who are at large. Alexio Mupamhura was referred to Parirenyatwa where he died on admission,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
“The arrest led to the recovery of the suspects’ getaway vehicle, a Nissan Caravan NV350, registration number AFY 9469, a pellet gun, five bolt cutters, two 14 pounce hammers, three crowbars, various clothes with price tags, four laptops, an HP desktop computer, two solar panels, two 12 volts solar batteries, a lithium battery, three Samsung tablets, a solar light set, three inverters, 2 x 5 litre engine oil, eight pints of engine oil, a LED torch and a pinch bar.”

Sad: Turkish Club Says Christian Atsu Not Found

Aubameyang Ends Chelsea Misery

A Must Read For Women: New Breast Cancer Guidelines

The World Health Organization (WHO) released a new Global Breast Cancer Initiative Framework today providing a roadmap to attain the targets to save 2.5 million lives from breast cancer by 2040. The new Framework launched ahead of the World Cancer Day campaign marked tomorrow, recommends to countries to implement the three pillars of health promotion for early detection, timely diagnosis and comprehensive management of breast cancer to reach the targets.

There are more than 2.3 million cases of breast cancer that occur each year, which make it the most common cancer among adults. In 95% of countries, breast cancer is the first or second leading cause of female cancer deaths. Yet, survival from breast cancer is widely inequitable between and within countries; nearly 80% of deaths from breast and cervical cancer occur in low- and middle-income countries.

“Countries with weaker health systems are least able to manage the increasing burden of breast cancer. It places a tremendous strain on individuals, families, communities, health systems, and economies, so it must be a priority for ministries of health and governments everywhere,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, “We have the tools and the know-how to prevent breast cancer and save lives. WHO is supporting more than 70 countries, particularly low- and middle-income countries, to detect breast cancer earlier, diagnose it faster, treat it better and give everyone with breast cancer the hope of a cancer-free future.”

Cancer in women, including breast cancer leave devastating impact for the next generation. A 2020 study by the International Agency for Research on Cancer suggests that with an estimated 4.4 million women dying of cancer in 2020, nearly 1 million children were orphaned by cancer, 25% of which were due to breast cancer. Children who lose their mothers to cancer experience health and educational disadvantages throughout their lives, triggering generational, chronic social disruption and financial harm in many cases.

“Countries need to ensure that this framework engages and integrates into primary health care. This effort would not only support health promotion, but also empower women to seek and receive health care throughout the life cycle,” says Dr Bente Mikkelsen, WHO Director for Noncommunicable Diseases. “With effective and sustainable primary health care, we can really see a pathway to universal health coverage.”

The newly published framework leverages proven strategies to design country-specific, resource-appropriate, health systems for the delivery of breast-cancer care in low- and middle-income settings. It outlines three pillars of action with specific key performance indicators:

Recommending countries to focus on breast cancer early-detection programmes so that at least 60% of the breast cancers are diagnosed and treated as early-stage disease.
Diagnosing breast cancer within 60 days of initial presentation can improve breast cancer outcomes. Treatment should start within three months of first presentation.
Managing breast cancer so that at least 80% of patients complete their recommended treatment.
Accelerating the implementation of WHO’s Global Breast Cancer Initiative has the potential to avert not only millions of avoidable female cancer deaths but also the associated, intergenerational consequences of these deaths.

In 2017, the World Health Assembly passed the Resolution Cancer prevention and control in the context of an integrated approach. Since 2018, WHO has developed integrated initiatives in women’s and children’s cancers, calling also for the elimination of cervical cancer and a doubling of childhood cancer survival. Taken together, these initiatives can revert the generational harm from cancers and save more than a million lives in the next ten years. WHO calls on governments, development partners, industries and individuals to take their part to close the care gap and end the generational harms of cancer.

Watch : Sarkozy Sends Strong Warning To Mr Mnangagwa

Mining : Do Away With Illegal Transactions

Time To Remove Mnangagwa, Declares CCC Youth Leader

Tinashe Sambiri| Fearless CCC youth taskforce spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, has urged young people to assume a common garb in the fight against the Zanu PF regime.

Lowest Paid Worker Should Get US$840

By A Correspondent- Workers’ unions yesterday reiterated their call for salaries in United States Dollars (USD) with one union saying the lowest-paid worker should get US$840.

They said United States dollar salaries were the only way to cushion workers from the inflationary economy.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Unions secretary David Dzatsunga said they were now demanding US$840 for the least-paid civil servant. NewsDay cites him as saying:

It is the only way we can cushion workers from the rampant Zimbabwe dollar inflation. I believe that our position now stands at about US$840 for the lowest-paid worker if we are going to obtain a food basket. In our next round of meetings, we are going to press on for US$ salaries.

Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions’ secretary-general Japhet Moyo said employees now deserved to be paid in foreign currency to make ends meet. He said:

The economy has dollarised but workers are not getting US dollar salaries.

During the last round of negotiations which took place in December, government acknowledged that the economy was dollarising, hence agreeing to US$150 for the lowest-paid worker.

The talks ended in a deadlock as to how the US$ salaries should be implemented. The option was either government introduces a statutory instrument or the money is paid in the local currency, but equivalent to US$. Employers preferred the latter and this is where we are.

The Zimbabwe dollar which was re-introduced in February 2019, after being ditched for a decade, has been continuously shedding value against other currencies, particularly the USD.

The depreciation of the local currency has promoted the use of foreign currency.

Public sector workers have over the years asked the government to restore their pre-October 2018 salaries that werearound US$540 on average. The government has said it does not have enough forex to pay them that amount.

Anthrax Outbreak Alert

By A Correspondent- The Department of Veterinary Services has raised an Anthrax awareness alert in Makoni District, Manicaland Province.

The bacterial illness, which is rare but dangerous, affects animals but human beings in contact with the affected animals can also get infected.

Rusape Town Council instructed farmers in a statement that for the next 30 days, no livestock can stray to other areas, in a move aimed at preventing the spreading of Anthrax. Said the Council:

Rusape Town Council would like to advise its valued residents and stakeholders that the
Department of Veterinary Services has issued an anthrax outbreak alert at Dombo AHMC and Bingaguru AHMC in Makoni District.

No livestock (Cattle, Sheep or Goats) from the mentioned areas maybe moved or allowed to stray to other areas for the next thirty days.

Members of the public are being warned against consuming, purchasing or selling livestock suspected to have died from anthrax. In addition, suspicious sickness or sudden death of animals or illegal movement of animals must be reported to the police and the Department of Veterinary services.

Butcheries and abattoirs in and around Rusape and the whole Makoni district are urged to be extra vigilant in guarding against procuring anthrax contaminated livestock.

Legislators Demand Answers From Education Minister On Exam Leakages

Primary and Secondary Education minister Evelyn Ndlovu has been ordered to appear before Parliament.

Primary and Secondary Education minister Evelyn Ndlovu has been ordered to appear before Parliament and issue a ministerial statement explaining measures being taken to bring back confidence in the country’s public examinations system.

Legislators want her to take action on the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec).

This follows nullification of almost 5 000 Ordinary Level (O-Level) 2022 examination results following allegations of massive paper leaks and cheating.

Legislators expressed concern that the Zimsec-run examinations have lost credibility.

Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya (CCC) on Tuesday raised the issue in the National Assembly as a matter of national interest.

“I seek that Parliament calls upon the Primary and Secondary Education minister to address the measures Zimsec is going to take to instil confidence and security of Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations because these examinations were marred by excessive leakages resulting in withdrawal of results,” Chikwinya said.

“I seek leave of the House that the Primary and Secondary Education minister be called up to give a ministerial statement and Members of Parliament interact with the same minister as they relate the problems coming from various constituencies,” he said.

Norton MP Temba Mliswa (Independent) suggested that the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Education must do an inquiry into the Zimsec issue.

Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda said if Ndlovu fails to give satisfactory answers in the House, she will then be summoned to appear before the committee.

Meanwhile, teachers’ unions have expressed concern over government’s silence on the issue.

“Government’s silence on examination paper leakages confirms two popular narratives from the citizens; one that government has zero respect for education resulting in teachers being the least paid, and the second narrative is that government disregards public services,” Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure said.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou said heads should roll at Zimsec.

“The minister responsible for education should stamp her authority over the leakages,” he said.

Educators Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Tapedza Zhou said: “If government does not deal with the examination leakages, we are going to witness more scandals in the future.”

Scores of journalists, dignitaries and others who worked with the late Rupende gathered in Gweru where they paid their last respects.

We lost a dedicated journalist who was always ready to serve his nation despite being down. We always came to pick him up to go long distances like Gokwe and anywhere in the province and he was always there. He was a dedicated journalist who was always there when we needed his services. I am pleased to say he served his nation with pride up until his untimely death,” said Senator Mavima.

City Suicidal Man’s Identity, Full Story Revealed

The identity of a Harare man who attempted suicide by throwing himself off a city building has been revealed.

The man identified as Mugove Chituzu is from A Hatcliffe in Harare and was seen by a vendor in the central business district visibly drunk.

A vendor, Mai Chipo, who sells her wares close to the building, said she saw Chituzu at around 7am and he appeared intoxicated.

“I saw this guy in the morning and he asked for water and I gave him. He then said someone was trying to kill him.

“He started telling me that someone was threatening his life and wanted to kill him by burning him, and that’s when I realised that he was under mental torment,” she said.

Chituzu is reported to have then stormed into Tanganyika House, fought and overcome the security guards before speeding to the rooftop.

The Fire Brigade arrived at the building and tried to get him down.

Donald Chihwa, a security guard who was at the scene, said Chituzu refused to get down and he kept saying someone was after him.

“We tried persuading him and get him down, but the more we tried, the more he moved to the edge of the building.

“The fire brigade also tried to talk to him, but he kept on telling them that he would jump since there were some people trying to kill him.”

A pastor also arrived at the scene and tried to persuade Chituzu not to jump.

“The pastor prayed for him, but he kept saying he would jump.

“As a crowd gathered, Chituzu then jumped and fell on the roof of an old garage,” said a witness.

An ambulance took him to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Zimbos Dump Mwonzora, ED, For Chamisa

By-Zimbabweans have shown strong support for the CCC leader Nelson Chamisa as opposed to the MDC President Douglas Mwonzora, whom they “hated” most, a new research by SABI Strategy Group has claimed.

Zanu PF Linked Drug lord On The Run

By Jane Mlambo| Zanu PF linked drug peddler popularly known as Dhama is on the run following the announcement of a police operation targeting those involved in selling illicit substances.

Dhama real name Simbarashe Chanachimwe who is reportedly wanted by the police for questioning over his drug peddling business is on the run, as confirmed by Information Secretary Nick Mangwana.

The police launched an operation code named “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances: See something, say something” which has seen a number of drug dealers being arrested at various check points set up across the city of Harare.

Responding to a social media user who questioned why Dhama had not been arrested, Mangwana said the drug lord could not be located.

“I hear he can’t be located. Possibly on the run,” said Mangwana.

Dhama was early last year arrested for breaching COVID-19 regulations after teaming up with other Zanu PF linked artists DJ Fantan and Levels to organise a new year gig in Mbare.

They were convicted and jailed and were only saved by pleas from Deputy Arts minister Tino Machakaire.

Meanwhile, Norton legislator Temba Mliswa last week defended another Zanu PF linked drug peddling suspect Zodwa Mkandla saying is not involved in the trade that riled feathers of parents following the dismissal of eight pupils at a city upmarket school Dominican Convent.

“We have serious issues of drug abuse & instead of fighting it, some have chosen to use that for cheap attacks against people like Zodwa Mkandla accusing her of peddling drugs and dangerous substances. How cheap is that really!

“Zodwa has been involved in issues of tourism for long and has done very well. She has been selling Zimbabwe to the wider global community and has done very well. She recently brought in Nigerian musician D’banj. Her work is in the public sphere.”

State Says No Evidence Against Gold Smuggling Rushwaya

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) top official Tawanda Zvekare has made startling claims Zimbabwe’s prosecuting arm of the judiciary does not have enough evidence to secure a conviction against Zimbabwe artisanal miners boss Henrietta Rushwaya, who was busted October 2020 trying to smuggle 6,9kg of gold through the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

Zvekare, who is NPA Chief Public Prosecutor Special Projects, was speaking at a recent launch of the 2022 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (CPI) report, which ranked Zimbabwe number 157 out of 180 surveyed countries, a position that makes the southern African country one of the most corrupt territories in the world.

He said the NPA was also facing similar hurdles in securing a conviction against former Public Service Minister Prisca Mupfumira, who was arrested July 2019 charged with corruption involving $95 million from the state pension fund.

“For the serious cases which you were talking about, that’s Henrietta Rushwaya case, the Prisca Mupfumira case and like cases, I would want to say that the threshold for proving a criminal case is proof beyond reasonable doubt, which is a high threshold.

“It may not be discharged easily,” he said.

The veteran prosecutor blamed Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) investigators for letting the NPA down through passing what he described as poorly investigated dockets which often fail the test when they are presented in the courts.

“As NPA, we depend on the investigators, that is the police, that is ZACC,” he said.

Drugs Are Means Of Survival For The Police: Mliswa

By A Correspondent| Motormouth Norton legislator has dismissed the police operation targeting drug peddlers saying it will fail as the whole underground industry is a means of survival for the underpaid officers.

Posting on Twitter, Mliswa said the police will not go all out against their avenue of survival which is taking bribes from drug peddlers who are scattered all over cities and towns.

“The police, among many civil servants, are struggling and these drug operations will ultimately fail because the crimes have become means of survival for them. The police will not go all out against their avenues of survival,” said Mliswa.

“After the fanfare and noise is gone they will compromise and resort to their usual ways. Govt is ultimately complicit in the emergence of these problems because its failing to properly and adequately pay its workers.

“As long as the approach misses the crux of the problem and focuses on the visible but merely symptomatic, then we will continue going in circles of rhetoric and rituals.

“The nub of the drugs problem, corruption, inefficiency in Gvt etc all go back to Gvt. A dysfunctional system is very much a bedrock for the kind of social& economic turmoil we are facing. As long as it persists the many commissions, agreements& operations will end up as hot air.

“Let’s be practical and candid by facing and squaring up to the real issues. A whole generation is being destroyed and with it our future as a country,” added Mliswa.

Mwonzora Is The Most Hated Politician In Zimbabwe: Survey

MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora is the most “hated” politician in the country, a new research by SABI Strategy Group has claimed.

Frequently Have SƏx To Lower Chances Of Getting Prostate Cancer, Minister Tells Parliamentarians

By Jane Mlambo| Sexually active men have a lower rate of getting prostate cancer, Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr John Mangwiro told parliamentarians yesterday.

Responding to legislators who wanted to know how men can avoid prostate cancer, Mangwiro said men who frequently have intercourse have lower chances of getting the disease that had 1.4 million treated cases globally in 2020.

“Those men who are very sexually active, the rate of getting cancer is much lower than those who are not. There are so many ideas. Those who do it more frequently have got lower chances,” said Mangwiro.

He also spoke on ways men can check if they have prostate cancer including via the anal canal.

“The first one is us putting the finger up and checking the prostate via the anal canal to check that the prostate is fine,” said Mangwiro.

“The next one is we use blood; we take blood samples and check for prostatic surface antigen quantities.  Once those are raised, we can determine whether someone has got prostate cancer or not,” added Mangwiro.

Ruling Throws Tenants Under The Bus

By A Correspondent- The High Court has outlawed a law that has been protecting tenants renting commercial properties from being ejected once their lease agreements have expired.

Previously, tenants were protected by sections 22 and 23 of the Commercial Premises (Rent) Regulations, 1983, which authorised them to continue staying or using premises despite expiry of their contracts.

The sections prohibited the property owners from evicting tenants as long as they were abiding by the terms and conditions of the expired leases.

But High Court judge Justice Webster Chinamhora yesterday ruled that the sections were unlawful, describing the law as unfair.

“A cumulative reading of sections 22 and 23 shows that these provisions unfairly limit the powers of a court in ordering eviction and heavily restrict the lessor’s rights to terminate occupancy or seek eviction and possession of the premises after the lease expires. The regulations create a forced relationship between the lessee and the lessor known as statutory tenancy. My view is that sub-paragraphs (i) and (ii) of section 22 (2) effectively preclude the lessor from increasing rentals or leasing out the property to another person once the statutory tenancy protection applies,” Justice Chinamhora ruled.

“I would add that section 23 fortifies the protection accorded under section 22 of the regulations and entitles the lessor to all the other benefits arising from the original contract.

“It is precisely for these reasons that section 22 and 23 of the regulations are ultra vires the Commercial Premises (Lease Control) Act and set them aside.”

The ruling follows a legal dispute between a Harare-based company, Elnour United Engineering Group Private (Limited) and Industry and Commerce minister Sekai Nzenza.

Armed Robber Suspect Shot And Killed

A 29-year-old suspected armed robber, who was part of a seven member gang targeting companies in Harare, was shot and killed by police during a shoot out in Ruwa on Tuesday.

The detectives acted upon the information and made a follow up on Mupamhura and on Tuesday at around 8am he arrived at his residence along Chinhoyi Street, Zimre Park, Ruwa, whilst driving a Toyota Wish vehicle, registration number, AFA 8576.

After seeing the detectives, Mupamhura sped off, leading to a shoot out and speed chase with the detectives.

He drove into a maize field where he stopped the vehicle before fleeing while armed with an iron bar.

Detectives later arrested Makomva after he had contacted Mupamhura’s wife to meet him at Mabvuku turn-off, along Harare-Mutare Road, where he wanted to give her unidentified property for safekeeping.

Subsequently, detectives recovered various clothes with price tags and two lithium batteries from Makomva.

The suspects were further linked to a robbery case which occurred on February 7, 2023 at business premises along Sam Nujoma Street, Harare where a security guard and his daughter were attacked before two cellphones, US$5 cash, a solar panel, a 48 volts solar battery, four Baofeng wireless communication radios and a laptop were stolen.

Police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects, identified as Tendai Ruchiyo, alias T1, Emmanuel Dylan Matiza, alias Big Dealer, Carlson Mabhonga and Lloyd Chinembiri.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a robbery case which occurred on February 7 2023 at a house along Shaneragh Road, Mandara, Harare.

Gunman Who Shot At Judge

A 34-year old man who fired a shot while parked at the gate of High Court judge Justice Emiliah Muchawa’s house in Westgate, Harare, is a close neighbour of the judge, it emerged in court yesterday.
Nation Musekiwa, who stays a few houses from the judge’s home in the same street, appeared at the Harare Magistrates court charged with criminal nuisance and alternatively assault.

Musekiwa denied the charges when he appeared before magistrate Mrs Evelyn Mashavirakure, who remanded him to March 8 for trial.

Mr Anesu Chirenje, prosecuting, alleged that on January 31 at around 7.15pm, Justice Muchawa and her husband, Mr Pascal Ngwarai Muchawa, were driving home along Old Mazowe Road.

When they reached Tom Farm along Old Mazowe Road, they saw Musekiwa driving his Honda Civic in front of them and they followed him until turning into Good Hope Road.

It is alleged that Musekiwa stopped his car in front of Justice Muchawa’s main gate, prompting the couple to stop their vehicle.

Musekiwa is alleged to have fired a shot into the air causing Justice Muchawa and her husband to drive to the nearby home of Justice Chinembiri Bhunu, where there were security officers on duty.

Constables Kambamura and Chidaushe, who were on duty, opened the gate for them.

The couple told the police officers what had happened and they went to the scene where they recovered a 9mm blank cartridge.

On the following day, Musekiwa went to Harare Central Police Station where he told the police that he was the one who had fired the shot on the previous night. Investigations led to the recovery of a pellet gun that was taken to CID Ballistics for forensic examination. – state media

3 Pupils Arrested for Smoking Mbanje

3 boys who are pupils at George Chipadza Secondary School in Zvishavane in the Midlands Province and a female drug dealer, were arrested after the boys were caught smoking mbanje in the school premises.

The three boys who are all aged 16 years, were caught redhanded smoking the dagga and they implicated their supplier who was also arrested.

Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest of the three pupils and the suspected dealer.

“The arrest took place at George Chipadza Secondary after three teenagers were caught red handed by one of the teachers at the school.

“A police report was made and the three boys implicated Sibongile Masaire (38) of Zvishavane as their supplier,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko said they conducted a search at Masaire’s house and recovered 1,35kgs of dagga.

The three minors were released into the custody of their guardians while Masaire is in police custody.

In another incident, police recovered 75 plants of dagga at a homestead belonging to Lloyd Sibanda in Ziyabangwa village under Chief Wedza area in Zvishavane District.

Insp Mahoko said Sibanda vanished after he got wind that police were looking for him following a tip off by members of the public.

“Our officers recovered 75 plants of dagga with an average height of two metres at Sibanda’s garden. The suspect is on the run and we are appealing to members of the public to assist in locating him.

“We are also appealing to members of the public to value their health by desisting from drug and substantive abuse. On the other hand, we call upon parents and guardians to conscientise their children on the dangers of drug and substance abuse,” he said.

The latest arrest comes at a time when police have escalated the fight against drug abuse in the ongoing nationwide crackdown against drug peddlers and abusers.

Dubbed “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances: See something, say something”, the operation comes after Government instructed police to redouble their efforts against drug lords supplying drugs to youths.

In Bulawayo, police on Monday conducted a vehicle stop and search exercise at a roadblock along Luveve Road to signal the start of the operation in the city. The Government has said the rounding up of drug kingpins would help save young people who ruining their future by abusing drugs.

Police said they would now man roadblocks to stop and search motorists as well as passengers.

President Mnangagwa has called on churches to join the fight against drug and substance abuse.

In 2021, Government launched the National Drug Policy to fight the scourge.

Drug dealers are operating within communities selling drugs which include imbanje, crystal meth, Broncleer and injengu hence they can be flushed out. -state media

Messenger Dupes Govt R23.7m

A former provincial health department messenger who forged a letter to procure R23.7m worth of personal protective equipment during the Covid-19 state of disaster has been sentenced to a decade in prison for fraud.

Fraud… Ayanda Matinise

Ayanda Matinise, 37, took advantage of his proximity to the office of then Eastern Cape health MEC Sindiswa Gomba and disaster regulations which permitted deviation from ordinary procurement procedures, said regional National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luxolo Tyali.

Matinise wrote, signed and sent a forged letter to Falaz Protection Services in September 2020 under the pretence that the provincial health department was committed to procuring PPE, including surgical masks. The company submitted a declaration of interest and a quotation of R23.7m to Matinise.

The PPE was then delivered to the department’s OR Tambo district stores in Mthatha.

Once the company realised officials responsible for payment had no knowledge of the forged letter, they opted to collect the consignment, “but large quantities of it were missing, including 130,000 KN 95 masks and 70,000 surgical masks, to the value of R2.6m. Investigations conducted by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the Hawks led to the arrest of Matinise,” said Tyali.

“He pleaded not guilty, downplaying his role to that of a mere messenger, and attempted to implicate the officials who blew the whistle as having been involved in large-scale corruption. However, under cross-examination, Matinise contradicted himself and changed his version at least three times. The court rejected his defence.”

Eastern Cape director of public prosecutions Barry Madolo commended the prosecuting team, SIU investigators and Hawks for securing the conviction and sentence of a person who used the pandemic to illegally enrich himself.

No Other Party Deserving Your Vote Like ZANU PF: Mavaza

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | This year our nation will once again have its quinquennium experience of choosing its representatives in a harmonised elections.

Elections are a periodically occurance whose impact reverbets over many years. In most cases, such impact outlives the five-year electoral cycle and affects even unborn or yet to live generations. It is for that reason that we implore Zimbabweans to excercise their vote with deep thought and with a sense of responsibility. This must involve evidence-driven balloting which rises above political gymicking and posturing.

Zanu PF and CCC will be the main political actors in this election. We must look at what these two parties have to offer. In so doing we must look at what they have offered in the past, what they are offering now, as that analysis is the only thing that can give us a credible prediction of what to expect should either party emerge the victor in the election.

It is important to dispel from the outset the notion that CCC is just the oppsition. Such notion is just too simplistic. While Zanu PF is in power in national government, CCC is in power in the majority of major urban centers where Zanu PF is in opposition. For that reason we are comparing like-for-like in that both parties have had decades of governance experience of one way or the other.

Historically Zanu PF is credited with ushering universal education and with universal health in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe has one of the highest literacy rates in the world. It has one of the most-skilled workforce in the world. This achievement did not and cannot occur automatically. It incurred through planning, through intentionality and above all through a sense of service by Zanu PF to the people of Zimbabwe. This is a historic achievement we must applaud.

Similarly, while Americans have an intractable problem about their health provision and are fighting over Obama Care issues and the cost of health insurance in the richest nation in the world; while the National Health Care System in the UK is sick and struck with crisis after crisis, Zimbabweans around the country take free care for granted. We have clinics and health centres for every ward, including in rural areas.

It is true that in recent years both our health abd education infustructure has suffered from the crippling effects of illegal sanctions and from world-wide phenomenon such as the crush in the world economy, international wars and pandemics. The main point is that Zanu PF put in place a system of health and education that has not been paralleled. Save for temporal challenges, we have some of the greatest foundations which are an envy even to the so-called first world countries. It is no surprise that the only people who scorn at our health system are the opposition. In Zimbabwe you can wait for an hour to see a doctor. In England it will be months. Zimbabwe is all covered in achievements.

Thes achievements do not just relate to the past. The Second Republic has renovated schools in all provinces and renovated health centres.

Work is on-going on major highways to improve our people’s travel experience and to drive economic growth. These include the Bulawayo -Harare highway, the Beitbridge Harare Highway Mutare Harare highway and several high ways around Zimbabwe.

In the energy sector the work to increase energy capacity and output of the Hwange grid is on-going. In the face of power shortage in the whole world Zimbabwe is actually shaking the power problems off.

The Second Republic is building at least one dam in each province. In this regard the Second Republic has broken records. For example many governments before it, including pre- independence administrations planned but failed to execute the Gwayi-Shangani Water project. The Second Republic has.

In the land sector, dispossessed indigeanous people have been resettled in millions. The Second Republic empowers them with agricultural imputs via its successful Command Agriculture Programme. Zimbabwe has bounced back into being a bread basket again. This is not a miracle but toil and hard work by ZANU PF.

All these examples and more underline the credibility of Zanu PF’s loudable mantra which is ” no one and no place must be left behind”.
All the past and current achievements of Zanu Pf are an index of what the party will do when reelected. The leadership of ED MNANGAGWA. has been a hands on type of leadership.

Just let us look at CCC and its predicessor party the MDC. They have bern in power since 1995 in urban centres. They took over from Zanu PF thriving city centres and neighbourhoods. Their councillors have turned the towns and cities to lamentable stares with roads raveged by pot-holes and eye-sore city centres. Their councillors are profoundly corrupt and have a unique way of combining gross- incompetency with corruption. Look at the scandal in stand allication all over our urban centres. Not even a word of condemnation from their national leaders. That eloquent silence is so important because it is a hint of what will happen if CCC takes the reigns of national power. They will not tackle corruption because corruption is their singular badge in local government.

Zanu PF government has produced a blue print for the economy in the form of its National Economic Strategy and Vision 2030 . CCC does not even have a document describing how to elect its own president while clamouring to elect a national president.

For them the fact that CCC is policy-less and constitution-less is treated in a cavalier manner. To Zimbabweans it is the very height of insult and insolence that they would presume to run a state, with the intricacies of legislation, including a myriad of statutory instruments that are promulgated daily when its leaders do not buy in to the concept of policy and legislation.

Even as the election approaches CCC has presented no proposal for the country and no program for the economy, whose decline CCC contributes daily by inviting the continuity with sanctions.

Perhaps one of the biggest differences between the two parties, outside issues of competency, is the issue of patriotism. Zanu PF will govern, as it does, for and in the name of Zimbabwrans. CCC will govern for and in the name of its imperialist masters.
ZANU PF has always been for the people while CCC is controlled by a remote force which has no business of building Zimbabwe.
ZANU PF teaches us that Zimbabwe is the only country which we can call ours in the whole world. It came through blood and sweat so we need to handle it with care.
We need to vote wisely. Vote for ZANU PF.

Mnangagwa Under Pressure To Release Job Sikhala

CCC Namibia speaks strongly on impunity: Free innocent Wiwa and imprison the corrupt Wadyajena!

08 February 2023

It is beyond Satanism for the purported independent judiciary to continue punishing the revolutionary lamb “Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala” whilst the real criminals are enriching themselves using state apparatus as springboards for the primitive accumulation of national resources! Namibia district castigates the illegal removal on remand to ZANU-PF serial looters represented by Gokwe Mp, Mayor Wadyajena who robbed the state of more than 5 000 000US$ (5m+ US$) belonging to COTCO.

His removal on remand came at an ugly juncture when our diligent Zengeza West Mp and Lawyer, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala has been caged at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for more than seven months on concocted charges. As a district that subscribes to the rule of law and constitutionalism, we demand an abrupt end to this weaponization of the law by the clueless and sadist regime. Our fight is anchored on freedom, equality, and justice hence we demand freedom for Hon Job Sikhala. It is unacceptable to allow the continued incarceration of the innocent when the real criminals are walking scot-free.

Mayor Wadyajena looted a considerable amount of money but it seems those who are affiliated with the corrupt and politically inept party are immune to prosecution. Real thieves such as Obadiah Moyo, Prisca Mupfumira, Wicknell Chivayo, Ignatius Chombo, and Henrieta Rushwaya merely to mention a few amassed ill-gotten wealth from the state with impunity, which must be resisted with a double measure. We audibly advocate for the independence of the judiciary, all citizens should be treated equally before the law regardless of their political convictions.

It is now imperative that Zimbabweans take it upon themselves to peacefully confront the political ills and predispositions in our captured courts. Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala deserves his ultimate freedom because it is not a crime to demand justice for Moreblessing Ali. It is legal for any officer of the court to represent his or her clients without fear of persecution by prosecution. Wiwa has languished in jail for speaking out against the state-sponsored torture, abductions, and enforced disappearances of those who speak the truth to power and criticizing ZANUPF shenanigans.

Namibia district is cobra-headed on the astronomical levels of state capture of the judiciary and all other state institutions in the motherland. Efforts to demand the immediate release of all prisoners of conscience are now compulsory for all and sundry since Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala was denied his constitutional right to bail several times. “We can’t afford to have laws for ZANU-PF goons and laws for Citizens Coalition For Change subscribers. All Zimbabweans must be treated equally before the law. CCC interim Vice-chairperson deserves his freedom. His Wife and children have missed him since the 14th of June 2022!”, fumed the interim chairperson for CCC Namibia Rundu Branch, Simbarashe Ndoda.

Let’s all unite against this lawfare! ZANU PF must discontinue its insatiable appetite to deter social democrats through the unconstitutional use of long pre-trial detentions, arbitrary arrests, selective application of the law, and intimidation of vulnerable villagers in the countryside ahead of the July harmonized elections. Namibia district urges champions to embrace dangerous freedom against peaceful slavery and incessant impunity on the ZANUPF perpetrators of belly politics of plunder and self-aggrandizement.

On another note, the vibrant interim Secretary General for the CCC Namibia Rundu branch, Dr. Lawrence Chiduku encouraged all social democrats to give material and financial support to the recently launched “REAP”, (Register, Elect and Protect the vote plus the voter) a sound youth initiative that encourages citizens to register, vote and protect the vote and the voter. Namibia applauds the efforts invested into the struggle by the millennial generation championed by the energetic and diligent Youth Taskforce Commander, Takudzwa Ngadziore, Spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, and Womberai Nhende only to mention a few.

Defending the vote and the voter becomes the only panacea to social, economic, and political justice in the motherland. Let’s register to vote against the impunity of ZANU-PF corrupters and thugs who have taken too much for the owner to ignore. Citizens must amplify their revolutionary voices demanding JUSTICE, EQUALITY, and FREEDOM for Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala as well as all political prisoners. Namibia district reiterates that Zimbabwe is not ZANUPF’s private property, even CCC members are bonafide residents hence they deserve respect and honor. We demand free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe.

Mjolo Prophet Abandons Church

By- The House of Grace International Ministries leader, Prophet Shame Hungwe, has abandoned his church and turned to Prophet Eubert Angel.

Hungwe made headlines for bedding a married woman.
H-Metro spotted him with Prophet Angel performing miracles in Nigeria recently.

He told the tabloid that he had become like a sheep without a shepherd following the death of Prophet TB Joshua, but he has now found grace in Prophet Angel.
“Every person, including church leaders, needs someone they can confide in and seek counselling.
“I felt exposed to evil spirits that I used to cast out following the death of Prophet TB Joshua.
“I learnt a lesson that there are three stubborn forces that can make any leader fall from grace.
“The love of money, the love of women and pride are forces that can leave anyone naked and exposed to shame.
“I want to thank God that the anointing kept my head above waters, otherwise I could have backslidden,” said Hungwe.
He hailed Prophet Angel for helping him.
“Prophet Eubert Angel helped me a lot and brought me back to the House of Grace, although I will not use that name again.
“For the mean time, I have found grace through Prophet Angel and will remain loyal to his leadership and guidance,” he said.
Asked if he would seek forgiveness from people he had wronged, Hungwe said anyone born of flesh hardly forgives.
“Chikuru kudiwa naMwari nekuti ndiye woga anokwanisa kuregerera munhu nekuti wakaberekwa nenyama haaregereri zvekumhanya.
“David in Psalms 51:1-5 clearly showed that only God can cleanse and return one’s hope.”
Hungwe is expected back in the country anytime this month, and he promised to resume his ministry, but under a new name.

Prayers Fail To Stop Suicidal Harare Man

By-A Hatcliff man who jumped from the top of Tanganyika House in Harare ignored people, including prayers meant to stop him from committing suicide.
.

Mugove Chituzu suffered a fractured left hand, broken jaw, and deep cuts to his head and legs after landing on the roof of an old garage.
Witnesses said Chituzu complained of being tormented by invisible people who wanted to kill him.

H Metro

Holy Ten Declares War Against Gaffa President

By-Hip Hop artist Holy Ten has declared war against award-winning dancehall star Winky D and said the famous musician was a snake longer than his dreadlocks.

The two collaborated on a song —Ibotso, from Winky D’s latest offering, Eureka.

Holy Ten, who has previously said he regrets collaborating with Winky D, dissed the Kambuzuma-raised chanter while speaking on an online show The Episode. He said:

The man you are talking about (Winky D) is a snake longer than his dreadlocks. But even the serpent did not force the apple, which became a global disaster, into Eve’s mouth.

The serpent spoke and Eve made a decision. So in this case, I’m Eve.

Asked if he would have preferred to have done a song with a different meaning with Winky, Holy Ten said:

I would have never done a song with Winky Gee, that’s me avoiding to be sued. I’m not stupid, I have done law and we signed contracts.

Holy Ten has been heavily criticized for his latest comments with award-winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono advising the Anotobvawo Kune Vanhu hit-maker to learn from his ‘elders’. He said:

My brother Holly, stop player hating.

Winky D has been doing this music thing for decades, so you might learn something from engaging with him without dissing him.

Winky D is bigger, that is why everyone was happy to see him give you an opportunity to duet!

Show some respect to Winky D and also you must realize that the kind of things you are saying here can turn some of your fans off.

Live and learn, don’t destroy your career dude with this silly and misguided comments.

Winky D gave you a bigger platform than you ever had, a thank you is what a decent person would do.

Do you have management, if you have change them.

A REAL manager wouldn’t let you say this crap!

usatande Botso munin’ina, unopera sesipo!!!

Holy must understand that ZANUPF is not stupid.

They know he did this song willingly but then regretted & is worried about losing the free stuff.

They know that he is trying so hard to fix his image with them.

ZANUPF has more respect for Winky D because they know where he stands with his views.

Holy is just blowing with the wind, so ZANUPF has no respect for him at all, and they have said it privately.

They know he is saying these stupid things to pretend like he is on their side, they know that all he is afraid of is losing freebies, they ain’t stupid.

Asviba both sides and the more he talks, the more he looks like a clown.

Sad!!!

Court Acquits Rushinga Man Arrested For Criticising Mnangagwa

A Rushinga man is now a free man after authorities opted to withdraw criminal charges against him, which had emanated from allegations that he had criticised President Emmerson Mnangagwa for boasting that Zimbabwe had the strongest currency in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

The 44 year-old Robert Zakeyo of Rushinga in Mashonaland Central province, had been scheduled to stand trial at Bindura Magistrates Court on 31 January 2023 on charges of contravening section 33 (2)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Zakeyo, who was represented by Gift Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, was to stand trial after the National Prosecuting Authority Acting Prosecutor-General Nelson Mutsonziwa, in November 2022, issued a Certificate of Authority to Prosecute.

Zakeyo, who is an entrepreneur at Rushinga Business Centre and who had been out of prison custody on bail, was arrested on 3 May 2020 after he was accused of posting a video on 1 May 2020 on a WhatsApp group called Rushinga Residents of President Mnangagwa issuing a press statement in relation to the strength of the local bond notes
currency.

Prosecutors claimed that in the same video clip, there also appeared a lady who was dressed in opposition MDC Alliance party regalia uttering the word “musatanyoko” in vernacular purporting as if the lady was rubbishing President Mnangagwa’s sentiments on the competitiveness of Zimbabwe’s currency.

This reportedly incensed Author Chinyoka, the Acting Coordinator for the ruling ZANU PF party in Rushinga, who was the complainant in the matter, after he came across the messages while browsing through Rushinga Residents WhatsApp Group.

But Zakeyo is now a free man after prosecutors on Tuesday 31 January 2023 withdrew charges against him before plea.

Zakeyo is among dozens of people, who have been arrested since 2017, when President Mnangagwa seized power from the late Robert Mugabe, and charged with insulting or undermining the authority of the President.

In most cases, human rights defenders and ordinary citizens are targeted for expressing themselves on matters to do with or connected with the President.

Lawyers End Horrific Detention Of Chiadzwa Villagers

Mutare Magistrates court has ended the horrible detention of more than 10 Chiadzwa villagers in Manicaland province, who were subjected to horrendous torture and assault, when they were arrested recently by a joint crack team of Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers and members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).

The 11 Chiadzwa villagers namely Daniel Nyazika, Midia Nyazika, Tinashe Nyazika, Mike Nyazika, Gift Nyazika, Crispen Mashande, Neyemai Chibuwe, Manuel Zvirimumoyo, Darlington Mwarumba, Albert Mudzimwa and Michel Chidzungu of Chingome village under Chief Marange in Manicaland province, were arrested by ZRP officers and ZNA members stationed at Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company on Sunday 15 January 2023 at Nyazika Bottle Store.

They were charged with defeating or obstructing the course of justice as defined in section 184(1)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly causing the escape of 32 people, who were accused of being illegal diamond panners and who had been arrested in a liquor retail shop.

The Chiadzwa villagers appeared before Mutare Magistrate Richard Ramaboea on Wednesday 18 January 2023 after spending time in detention first at Diamond Police Base and later on at Bambazonke Police Station, where they spent two nights.

During their initial remand appearance, prosecutors told Magistrate Ramaboea that the 11 villagers teamed up and challenged members of the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) comprising of ZRP officers and ZNA members, who were executing an operation to secure diamond fields.

Representing the villagers, Peggy Tavagadza and Kelvin Kabaya of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, complained before Magistrate Ramaboea that their clients were heavily assaulted upon arrest by ZRP officers and ZNA members, who caused extensive damage to doors of the liquor shop and also smashed some vehicle windscreens.

The villagers, Tavagadza and Kabaya said, were also over-detained beyond 48 hours before being brought to court for their initial remand proceedings and were denied access to medical facilities for treatment of injuries sustained from the assault by law enforcement agents.

In response, Magistrate Ramaboea ordered the State represented by Chris Munyukwi to investigate the villagers’ complaints against ZRP and ZNA and to submit a report to him on 8 February 2023, when they return to court.

Zim Govt Using Repressive Laws To Bar Nurses From Seeking Greener Pastures

With a salary worth the equivalent of less than $100 a month, Agnes Masarira can’t afford to buy lunch at the hospital in Zimbabwe where she works as a nurse. She dreams of a nursing job in Canada, but she cannot emigrate without key documents that the Zimbabwean authorities refuse to provide.

It’s a story happening all over Zimbabwe. Nurses know there are opportunities in countries like Canada and Britain that suffer from chronic shortages of health workers. Many are desperate to emigrate. Zimbabwe’s authoritarian government, however, makes it almost impossible for most to leave.

“It’s like I’m a slave,” said Ms. Masarira, 28, who works at a government hospital in Masvingo province. “I have no house, no car and not enough to eat, yet I’m considered employed. I live with my brother. I can only afford second-hand clothes. My child has to watch me struggling every day.”

Like other nurses in Zimbabwe, she cannot apply for international jobs without an official copy of her nursing diploma and a verification letter from the government – neither of which is available.

For years she has visited Health Ministry offices to request the documents. Each time she was told that the officials who must sign the documents were unavailable. One official asked for a bribe of US$200 to arrange her diploma, but she could not afford it. “Where do I get that amount when I earn less than that?” she asked.

Canada has been enduring a shortage of nurses for years. British Columbia alone was reported to have more than 5,300 unfilled positions in the nursing sector late last year. Governments have tried to recruit foreign-trained nurses to fill the gap, but countries such as Zimbabwe do not make it easy.

While the Zimbabwean government has never officially explained the restrictions on the documents that nurses need, it is believed to be an attempt to halt the exodus of health workers. More than 4,000 health workers, including about 2,600 nurses, left the country in 2021 and 2022.

The exodus is a reflection of Zimbabwe’s collapsing economy, largely because of mismanagement by the authoritarian state. Despite government promises to raise the salaries of health workers, their wages remain at poverty level – and Zimbabwe has one of the world’s highest inflation rates.

Instead of boosting wages, the government is using repressive controls to prevent health workers from fighting back or leaving the country. After doctors and nurses went on a week-long strike to seek higher wages last year, the government introduced a law this month to prohibit any labour action of more than three days.

The government also exploits the desperation of the nurses by imposing higher fees for the documents they require. Last year it doubled the application fee for verification letters to US$300 from US$150. This has deterred nurses from emigrating – but in practice the letters have become almost impossible to obtain anyway, even when nurses are able to pay the fee.

“It’s a human-rights abuse against the suffering nurses,” said Setfree Mafukidze, a Zimbabwean nurse who emigrated to Britain in 2020 when the restrictions were not as onerous.

“People are being tied down by the government. It leads to corruption. Some officials are cashing in on bribes from desperate nurses. The danger is that we’re going to have a group of very disgruntled nurses in hospitals and clinics, which is very dangerous for patients.”

Mateline Dube, a 34-year-old nurse at a government hospital in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, said she would like to work in Canada but cannot afford the US$300 fee for a verification letter. She doesn’t know how to get the other required document, her diploma certificate, from the Health Ministry, and she doesn’t have enough money to pay for a bribe.

With a salary of about $135 a month, she struggles to pay for food and rent. She had to take her child out of school because she could not afford the school fees. At work, unable to afford lunch, she sometimes has to get food from patients.

“I’m just living from hand to mouth,” she told The Globe and Mail.

“Often I have to walk to work, about four kilometres, because I don’t have money for transport. Sometimes, with my nursing uniform on, I have to beg for transport from motorists, but that’s dehumanizing and embarrassing for me. That’s why I want to leave this country.”

Nelisiwe Sibanda, a 36-year-old nurse in a government hospital in Harare, paid US$300 for a verification letter last year but never received the letter. One official told her that she would never get the documents. Her salary is only about $160 a month and she struggles to pay for food, rent and bus fare.

“I’ve become a burden to my friends and relatives, since I’m asking them for financial help every month,” she said.

“I’m tired of this now. I went into a shop to buy a packet of cereal porridge and it cost US$3. I can’t afford that. I’m very angry at the authorities for blocking my dream to leave this country.”

Dembare Fires Executives Over Signing-on Fees Scandal

Premier Soccer League giants have fired three executive committee members amid reports that they were implicated in a players’ signing-on fees scandal.

The axe fell on treasurer Moses Chikwariro, committee member for development Francis Madzinga and club spokesperson Tinashe Farawo.

While the club described the dismissals as strategic changes ahead of the 2023 soccer season, sources said the trio was implicated in a scam involving players’ signing-on fees.

Meanwhile, Beadle Musa Gwasira has been appointed treasurer.

Clemence Chimbare has been roped as committee member responsible for development.

The board said the spokesperson’s portfolio remains vacant for now, with the secretariat being responsible for the duties until a new appointment is made.

“The Dynamos Football Club board, in line with the Strategic Plan 2023-25, has restructured the Dynamos Football Club executive committee with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement yesterday.

“The revamped executive committee is as follows: Chairman: Mr Moses Maunganidze; Vice-chairman: Mr Vincent Chawonza; Secretary-general: Mr Webster Marechera; Treasurer: Mr Beadle Musa Gwasira; Committee member responsible for development: Mr Clemence Chimbare.

“Meanwhile, the club’s former treasurer Mr Moses Chikwariro, (and) committee member for development Mr Francis Madzinga have been replaced by Messrs Gwasira and Chimbare, respectively.

“The position of committee member for communication and marketing previously held by Mr Tinashe Farawo will now be a function of the secretariat and an appointment to that effect will be confirmed soon by the club.

“The board would like to thank Messrs Chikwariro, Madzinga and Farawo for the services they have rendered to the club to date. The board would like to wish the new-look executive committee success in 2023.”

Isaiah Mupfurutsa, who was chairman at the club, was the first to leave and has since crossed the floor to Simba Bhora.

Before they left the club, the old executives had gotten rid of coach Tonderai Ndiraya after the team failed to win the league title last year.

Ndiraya was replaced by Herbert Maruwa, who has been chopping and changing the squad, with 15 players having since left the club.

Last season, DeMbare management had several brushes with players over finances, particularly winning bonuses. Some of the players left after failing to agree signing-on terms with the club.
