Bev, Manager In Nasty Divorce

By A Correspondent- Beverly “Bev” Sibanda’s manager of 11 years, has betrayed the dancer resulting in her firing him via a text message.

State media reports that Harpers Mapimhidze, Bev’s manager, was fired by the dancer this week.

The 28-year-old raunchy dancer told H-Metro that she has even removed Harpers from their WhatsApp group, and has become her own manager.

Bev said she made the drastic move as Harpers became preoccupied with managing a pub since the relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions. She said:

I have removed Harpers from my WhatsApp group after realising that he was no longer committed.

Harpers is now employed at City Sports Bar where he has been managing the pub and it seems he is enjoying his job there.

Ever since the relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions, Harpers has not been looking for shows as he appears busy, which prompted me to organise my own shows for survival.

I sent him a text message informing him that I had fired him and it’s up to him to take the message or not.

Despite partying ways with Harpers, Bev said she was not in a hurry to find the replacement.

Meanwhile, Harpers, who also doubles as the Dancers Association of Zimbabwe president, confirmed that he has parted ways with Bev saying he was now committed to his new job. He said:

It’s true that I have parted company with Bev due to the new commitments that I have at City Sports Bar.

I have been working here for the greater part of the lockdown and I now have a demanding schedule so I don’t think I will be able to continue managing her.

I have been managing Bev since 2010 and you can see it has been 11 solid years that I have assisted her.

Harpers is credited for making Bev the brand she is today as he also handled the dancer’s domestic issues.

Mnangagwa Ignores Electoral Reforms, Says Will Win All Elections

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa Wednesday said by-elections would go ahead despite the calls for electoral reforms by the opposition.

Mnangagwa made the remarks while addressing about 6 000 party supporters in Dulivhadzimu Stadium in Beitbridge where he presided over the commissioning of 28 houses for civil servants.

He claimed victory was certain for the ruling party. Mnangagwa boasted as the crowd cheered:

We are going to have by-elections in 2022 and tinovasvasvanga (we will trounce them). In 2023, we will then have general elections tovarakasha (we will beat them).

The opposition has hinted that they will boycott the elections, but we will hold them all the same.

Mnangagwa has said the by-elections will be held during the first quarter of next year.

There are 133 vacant Parliamentary and local government seats following the recall of MDC Alliance legislators and councillors.

Mnangagwa said the central government expects both rural and urban local authorities to address housing issues, “but we have no local authorities, they are dead.”

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said any proclamation for elections must be accompanied by a clear reform roadmap that paves the way for an undisputed election. She added:

The bad governance and legitimacy crisis that continues to plague Mr Mnangagwa’s regime is a direct result of the disputed election of 2018.

Mahere added that there was a need to disband the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) which is accused of being captured by the ruling ZANU PF.

MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube said ZANU PF’s claims that the opposition feared by-elections is a strategy meant to conceal the ruling party’s fear for electoral reforms.

Chiwenga Endorses Mnangagwa, Is He Being Honest?

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the ruling Zanu PF’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

The endorsement of Mnangagwa by Chiwenga comes when there is deep factionalism in Zanu PF involving the former military boss and Mnangagwa over who should lead the party and government.

Chiwenga went on to say that his party was even willing to amend the Constitution to enable Mnangagwa to be a life president because “he is the one we love.”

Mliswa Fumes At ED

By A Correspondent- Norton member of parliament legislator, said President Emmerson Mnangagwa has failed to take full control of the Zanu PF party since the ouster of the late former President Robert Mugabe.

In a series of Twitter messages titled Reflections on the Second Republic on its Anniversary, Mliswa said Mnangagwa should also have included him in his cabinet as Minister of Sports.

Reflections on the Second Republic on its Anniversary.

If anything exemplifies the hypocrisy in @ZANUPF_Official It’s the fact that today ED is running the country with most of the people who were there in 2004 when he was blocked from being VP& 2017 when he was fired.

What is striking about this is that no one has said anything about those episodes. The truth has never been said. A few people were singled out such as @ProfJNMoyo@Hon_Kasukuwere@DrGGandawa@waltermzembi,the CIO etc. But only the army was clear in its support for ED.

In the run-up to November 2017, Mugabe had decided to remove all the service chiefs but they stood their ground. Chihuri was supposed to arrest Chiwenga who was in China but Sanyatwe and the Presidential Guard defended their Commander.

This led to the march against Mugabe when everybody went out. The army had to support this march because it was mobilised by the War Veterans& the people. Zimbabwe Grounds were full; opposition was there. Point being this was a Zimbabwe thing not a @ZANUPF_Official

event.

I, together with James Maridadi were supposed to move a motion for Mugabe’s impeachment but Monica Mutsvangwa moved it in the Senate& Maridadi seconded it in the Lower House. The Speaker of the House was under pressure because Bonyongwe as Leader of Gvt Business was blocking it.

Bonyongwe tried frantically to stop the process saying let’s wait for the Congress. However, the Speaker (Advocate Jacob Mudenda) stood his ground. The unanimous decision was that it would be too late. Oppah was called by some with the same ideas but she said we can’t stop now we will be killed.

It was a tense time such that even some Generals were becoming fearful. When it finally began it was an inclusive thing. Tsvangirai,@nelsonchamisa@DrThoko_Khupe@EngMudzuri all supported it. That is why I still ask why most of these people were later shunned out?

They could have been part of the new Gvt and things would have been different. Personally, I always wanted to be the Minister of Sports even during Mugabe’s time. I worked hard for this project and wouldn’t have been averse to a post in Sports Ministry to be honest.

I suffered during Mugabe’s time and was constantly arrested for being ED’s person. What did I get? More arrests. Today we have upstarts like Mudhatelling Matanga to arrest me. Nobody can doubt the role that I played but I have suffered even after.

We can’t have the same today. We shall see what the likes of Mudha will say during elections. You get people saying the President doesn’t know what is happening but as the leader, you have got to control your dogs. They have to bite on your instruction only.

Mugabe didn’t know about it when Tsvangirai was beaten but that still got him out of power. He lost power due to reckless subordinates too. You cannot be arresting people just because you are powerful. That is where we say denga rinoona [heavens see].

Corruption has not stopped, it’s even worse. The Motlanthe Commission report has not been responded to. The Welfare of War Veterans. Reforms. Democracy. Stable currency. Human rights violations have continued. The economy is in a mess.

Those things are critical in us saying we are a better nation. This is no matter what roads you are building. There is a need for reconciliation. Within the ruling party itself there is a need for reconciliation over past issues involving accusations against Mai Majuru & others.

Before we seek engagements with the West there is a need for reconciliation with the opposition so that we have a unified voice in the global stage. It’s not the monopoly of the ruling party to advance the cause of the country. Being gung-ho& ignoring the opposition won’t work.

There must be reflections all around and the truth must be said. We can’t accuse everyone who says the truth kuti apanduka [has sold out]. I suffered for the President during Mugabe’s time. He knows that.

But the same is happening now. We all respect the President’s office but we will always be critical of what is wrong in a professional and respectable manner. Someone has to say the truth.

ZIFA To Approach FIFA Over SRC Ban

The suspended Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board is considering approaching FIFA to have its ban overtuned.

The board, led by Felton Kamambo, was suspended on Tuesday by the Sports and Recreation Commission for “gross incompetence”, and a new set-up will be announced in the coming days.

But the Kamambo-administration is arguing that the suspension was done without a proper procedure and is in violation FIFA statutes which prohibits Government’s interference in the running of Football Associations.

A report will be submitted to FIFA and this could attract severe sanctions that could see the country banned from participating in international tournaments and the world governing body closing its financial assistance.

Meanwhile, the SRC says it is prepared to deal with the FIFA sanctions and would use the ban to fix some issues in the Zimbabwean football.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

We Won On Merit- Ghana

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has hit back at its South African counterparts, SAFA, accusing them of lying to their fans and FIFA.

Bafana Bafana lost 1-0 to the Black Stars on Sunday to bow out of the World Cup Qualifiers, but the Southern Africans were not happy with how Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette handled the match and the reception they got from their hosts.

SAFA then made an official complaint to FIFA, claiming that its national team was mistreated during their stay in Ghana.

The FA also urged the world football body to investigate a possible manipulation of the game.

In response, the GFA says the accusations are baseless, and it’s a plot to shift focus from their elimination.

“We wish to state categorically that the allegations are frivolous, baseless and lacks merits and should be treated with all the contempt that it deserves,” GFA said in a statement.

“These allegations from South Africa Football Association are nothing but a planned scheme and a calculated attempt to shift focus from the defeat, divert attention from their failure to qualify for the play-offs and unjustly dent the hard-earned victory of the Black Stars.”

The GFA added: “The Black Stars is a globally accepted brand that would not indulge in any action to bring the game into disrepute.

“Ghana has been to three FIFA World Cup Tournaments and remains the only African country in history to win the FIFA World Youth Championships in 2009. We worked very hard for the victory against South Africa.

“The Black Stars played well and won on merit without any form of support from the officiating officials.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Buhera Villagers Dismiss Mnangagwa Sanctions Rhetoric

BUHERA – The majority of villagers in Buhera believe that this country is going down not because of sanctions but corruption.
The Mirror did a vox pop with villagers soon after Zanu PF and aligned organisations staged demonstrations in the district against sanctions which they blamed for the economic meltdown of the country.

It was surprising that even villagers who participated in the demonstrations believed that the economic decline of Zimbabwe had little to do with sanctions.
The villagers urged President Mnangagwa to remove all senior Government officials implicated in corruption as a way of improving the economy.

In Buhera the demonstrations were held on October 25 and demonstrators moved from Chain business centre to Murambinda Growth Point where they were led by ZANU PF district leadership.

Addressing the demonstrators district Chairperson Causemore Chimombe said sanctions were hurting the economy and needed to be removed unconditionally.
Chimombe read a speech on behalf of Manicaland ZANU PF Provincial Chairperson Mike Madiro.

The Zimbabwe Government has set aside October 26 of each year as a day to call for the removal of sanctions against the country. The sanctions were imposed by the USA, European union and Britain targeting individuals in government for abusing human rights, corruption and misgovernance.

The American Government insists that sanctions are not against the country but individuals and institutions that rank high in human rights abuses.
Tawanda Gwebu who participated in the march said that there was endemic corruption in Government and the private sector and it was the source of the country’s economic problems.

“Corruption has destroyed the economy and has taken away the little moral fabric of our society” said Gwebu.
Buhera entrepreneur who requested anonymity said corruption is rife in government more than in the private sector.

“Institutions which are supposed to deal with corruption must be adequately resourced and allowed to operate independently to bring culprits to book” he said.
Laiton Marambanyika from Marambanyika village under Chief Nyashanu said while sanctions affect individual strategic institutions that are key in economic development, it was corruption by well connected politicians that have destroyed the economy.

“Connected people in government and outside have formed cartels that are stealing from government and this will take time to break” Marambanyika told The Mirror.

Edwin Gamanya who stays at Murambinda Growth Point said mismanagement of the country’s resources and political patronage are contributing to economic decay.
A village head in Buhera West who declined to be named said it is corruption which is contributing significantly high to the problems the country is currently facing.

Winmore Mafuruse, a sex worker at the growth point said they were forced to demonstrate but they believed sanctions was rhetoric.
“Its a rhetoric mantra. Its corruption that have taken us to this point and clients are nolonger paying as they used to do.

Economist Andrew Muchingami told The Mirror that the sanctions mantra is a scapegoat measure to hide misgovernance, corruption, incompetency by individuals in government.

“They are just trying to hide the truth and waste tax payers’ money through these demonstrations, ” said Muchingami.
ZANU PF activist, Tandirai Mugadza however, said sanctions were real and hurting the economy and therefore should be removed.
“The sanctions are hurting vulnerable people and therefore must be unconditionally removed,” Mugadza said.- The Mirror

Diabetes: Treatment And Care

The problems

We have greater knowledge than ever before about how to prevent and treat diabetes yet the number of people with diabetes is growing rapidly and the lack of access to diagnosis and treatment is causing unnecessary suffering and death, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

More than 420 million people have diabetes.

The number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980 and is expected to rise beyond half a billion by the end of the decade.

The increasing prevalence of diabetes is largely caused by the increasing prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents aged 5-19 rose dramatically from 4% in 1975 to over 18% in 2016.

Deaths from diabetes increased by 70% globally between 2000 and 2019.

The condition is also responsible for the largest rise in male deaths among the top 10 causes of death, with an 80% increase since 2000.

Diabetes is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation.

One in two adults with type 2 diabetes is unaware of their condition.

Globally, health systems are failing to diagnose and care for people living with diabetes.

Despite the discovery of insulin 100 years ago, many children, adolescents and adults with type 1 diabetes struggle to access insulin, as well as basic technologies such as blood glucose meters and test strips.

Half of all adults with type 2 diabetes are undiagnosed. Those who are diagnosed are not guaranteed access to essential diabetes and related medicines and regular screening for complications.

A low number of manufacturers globally, due to factors including manufacturing complexity, intellectual property protection, and other practices such as regulatory and market exclusivities, has stifled market competition for insulin and delivery devices and contributed to higher prices.

The global cost of diabetes has been estimated at over US$ 1 trillion annually.

According to a recent WHO survey, the diabetes services in 62% of WHO’s 194 Member States have been partially or completely disrupted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This disruption serves to underscore the importance of ensuring that services for diabetes are available in primary health care systems and can withstand disruptions such as those that have occurred during the pandemic.

The vulnerability of people with diabetes to other health complications has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in a high proportion of people with diabetes among hospitalized patients with severe manifestations of COVID-19.

Diabetes is not being included sufficiently in universal health coverage packages, meaning that insulin, other diabetes medicines and associated technologies are unaffordable for many people who need them, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

In general, primary health-care facilities in low-income countries do not have the basic technologies or essential medicines needed to diagnose and manage diabetes.

Globally, essential medicines for diabetes are reported to be generally available in about 80% of facilities in the public and private health-care sectors. However, they are available in only about one-half of facilities in low- and lower middle-income countries.
Data on diabetes derived from monitoring and surveillance systems in most countries are sparse and inadequate.

Only 56% of countries have recently conducted a diabetes prevalence survey, meaning that the reliability of information related to deaths from diabetes is doubtful.

The solutions
Actions for governments

Develop and strengthen monitoring systems to determine the disease and death resulting from diabetes, the diabetes treatment gap, and health system performance (capacity and interventions).

Set national diabetes monitoring and coverage targets.

Promote a healthy diet, regular physical activity and avoidance of tobacco and work with relevant sectors to address the barriers preventing a healthy lifestyle.

Include diagnosis of and treatment and care for diabetes within the primary health care system.

Strengthen referral systems between primary and other levels of care.

Strengthen health workforce and institutional capacity to detect early and manage diabetes.

Ensure that insulin is included in the national essential medicines list.

Include care for diabetes (including insulin and other medicines, insulin delivery devices and blood glucose monitoring devices) in national insurance packages.

Increase the meaningful engagement of people with diabetes on issues relating to treatment and care.

Actions for WHO

Expand efforts to promote a healthy diet, regular physical activity and avoid tobacco and work with relevant sectors to address the barriers preventing a healthy lifestyle.

Identify solutions to facilitate purchase by low- and middle-income countries of insulin, other diabetes medicines and monitoring and delivery devices; to increase the transparency of prices; and to facilitate regulation.

Provide guidance to national health authorities on inclusion of diagnosis of and care for diabetes within primary health care systems and national insurance systems.

Actions for civil society

Maintain the visibility of diabetes on the global health and development agendas.

Monitor progress in meeting agreed targets relating to diabetes prevention and control.

Engage with processes to ensure that the voices of people with lived experience of diabetes are considered when decisions are made on policies and programming.

How Mnangagwa Punished SK Moyo For “Drafting” Dismissal Letter

Tinashe Sambiri| Former Zanu PF spindoctor, Jonathan Moyo has revealed how Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa secretly plotted to topple his boss Robert Mugabe.

Jonathan Moyo tweeted:
“FIVE YEARS AGO, a year before his Nov 2017 coup, Mnangagwa and I at the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) graduation day on 18 Nov 2016.

ME: I know about your Blue Ocen Strategy, your coup plot.

EMMERSON: Bodo. Me? I have been behind shefu for 51 years!”

Jonathan Moyo also revealed that Simon Khaya Moyo was loathed by Mnangagwa for “drafting” the latter’s dismissal letter.

“Like in 2014, SK Moyo expected the Vice Presidency of ZanuPF in Nov 2017; out of his well founded but misplaced belief that the Unity Accord still mattered in the post-coup ZanuPF and govt. He was the most senior and most deserving candidate, having been National Chairman!

In 2017 SK Moyo’s association with or involvement in the drafting of the 6th Nov letter dismissing Mnangagwa from govt & the 14th Nov presser accusing the ZDF Command Element of treason cost him the VP post; second time in three years, which this time went to Kembo Mohadi!

While SK Moyo did not draft the 6 Nov 2017 letter alone, as the letter’s drafters included President Mugabe, Chombo, Kasukuwere and Grace who called the shots in the marathon meeting on the day; he fine turned it; and key phrases like Mnangagwa’s “lack of probity” were his!

SK Moyo survived the coup mainly because he was in the loop due to his marital ties with the coupmakers arising from his son’s marriage in July Moyo’s family. Having gone for him in 2014 Mnangagwa’s Midlands clan saved SK Moyo in Nov 2017. But even so, not all was forgiven,” argued Jonathan Moyo.

Prophet Freddy Hit By Trumped Up Charges, Says Captain Matapo.

The exiled former army captain, Albert Matapo has said the arrested self proclaimed, Prophet T Freddy has been hit by trumped up charges.

The Goodness and Mercy Ministries Founder and Leader Tapiwa Freddy was Thursday arrested by police on allegations of rape.

Freddy is expected to appear in court today.

Writing on Thursday, Matapo said:

Albert Matapo

I am reliably informed that the self proclaimed prophet, the one who make people defecate in church has been arraigned to the courts on trumped up rape charges.

This is what happens when we have leaders who do not respect laws. I am hearing that there are so many trumped up cases throughout Zimbabwe and innocent people are being jailed.

This is a tragedy. This should save as a lesson to all of us that supporting leaders who boast about ignoring laws like ED who says he is the court, he is the Police, Govt, etc, and like Chamisa who refused to respect their own party constitution and is today proud of being anti constitution, is no good.

By so doing we are supporting barbarism. When you are a leader, no matter it hurts but always face the truth and respect laws. Innocent people should never be jailed. Treat all people equally.

Police Exume Two Bodies Buried In One Grave Including Maxwell Chimwamurombe

Police on Wednesday exhumed two bodies buried in one grave at a cemetery in Harare, hoping to solve the mystery of a coffin allegedly buried empty in Nyanga after a dead man’s body was inexplicably left behind at a parlour in Harare.

Doves Funeral Services is accused of burying Maxwell Chimwamurombe in the same coffin as a pauper in Harare, after realising its mistake.

Police detectives watched as Doves funeral undertakers carefully dug up a coffin at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery, which they opened to reveal two bodies.

One of those bodies is believed to be that of Chimwamurombe, who died in March in a drowning incident.

The coffin was loaded onto the back of a police Ford Ranger and driven to the Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary, where DNA samples are expected to be collected in the hope of identifying the individual buried alongside the pauper.

A Doves spokesman declined to comment, referring to a statement issued in October, in which the company said it is “committed to a full investigation of the matter to bring it to completion.”

Sources say a driver who was supposed to be ferrying Chimwamurombe’s body became aware that the coffin was empty during burial at a village in Nyanga.

The driver reportedly informed one of the senior managers at Doves after the burial, but the manager did not take any action.

Instead, Doves is believed to have taken Chimwamurombe’s remains and placed them in the same coffin as a dead man whose body was given to Doves by the department of social welfare to conduct a pauper’s burial

.Chimwamurombe’s family has demanded compensation from Doves. The company has asked the family to “walk with us as we follow the due process… which will ultimately lead to an amicable settlement of the matter.”

Police are expected to conduct a second exhumation in Nyanga, to confirm that a coffin was buried without a body.

Doves employees are likely to face criminal charges over the matter.

MDC Alliance mourns victims of ZUPCO and Fuel Tanker Accident

The MDC Alliance led by President Nelson Chamisa mourns the victims of the ZUPCO and Fuel Tanker Road Traffic Accident which occurred at the 168km peg along Harare – Bulawayo road around Battlefield.

The accident has so far claimed the lives of 10 people with 8 having died on the spot. May the souls of the dear departed rest in eternal peace and in the meantime we pray for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The MDC Alliance reiterates it’s call for road worthy ZUPCO buses to be on the road so as to ensure passenger safety and reduce traffic accidents involving ZUPCO buses.

ZUPCO buses have increasingly become a hazard on our highways with so many lives having been lost through traffic accidents involving ZUPCO buses ever since the government declared a monopoly in the public transport sector.

It is now a high risk to board a ZUPCO bus from both a road fitness perspective and from a Covid 19 transmission angle.

The single control of the ZUPCO franchise by business mogul Kudakwashe Tagwirei who financially controls most if not all top government officials means that his Chinese acquired ZUPCO buses are not subject to competent VID checks and thus making them unroadworthy and prone to high accident incidents as evidenced.

The MDC Alliance equally takes this opportunity to implore on ZRPolice to invoke the provisions of SI268/2018 regarding the movement of Fuel tankers and other vehicles that transport hazardous materials.

The provisions of the law under section 18 subsection 11 of 9 in SI268/2018 stipulate that ” No vehicle transporting hazardous substances shall travel late in the night and early in the morning between 1800hrs and 0600hrs”.

Had the ZRPolice been strictly monitoring and enforcing this provision, this accident could have been avoided. The MDC Alliance once again calls on the government to set up the Road Traffic Accident Victims Compansetion Fund whose principles were put and agreed to by Parliament in 2018.

This fund is meant to take care of the injured in road traffic accidents as well as the welfare of families left behind by the deceased.

The deceased in this particular accident must have a state assisted funeral while the injured must be treated on government expense.

As we get into the Christmas holidays, the MDC Alliance calls upon all road users to exercise caution while on the road in order to eliminate road traffic accidents and save limb and lives.

“15 Days In Jail For Insulting Chief”

By A Correspondent- A 58-year-old Samuel Hove from Magwegwe in Bulawayo has been sentenced to 15 days in jail with an option to pay a fine of ZWL$5 000 after he insulted and threatened a chief.

Hove pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mberengwa Resident Magistrate Caroline Tafira Nyoni on Thursday for contravening Section 48 of the Traditional Leaders Act after he sent an offensive message to Andrew Bvute (67) who is Chief Bvute.

Hove and Chief Bvute are related as the former is a son to the latter’s brother.

The State led by Matidaishe Pavazhira alleged that on 2 July 2021 Hove obstructed, hindered or interfered with a chief in the discharge of his duties.

On the day in question at 11.36 AM, Bvute received a text message from Hove which was abusive and threatening. The message read:

Ndini ndakakuita ishe kana une nharo hariperi gore rino uri chief Bvute, Hatibhejerane kana uchida (I’m the one who made you a Chief. You will lose your chieftaincy before the end of the year if you are headstrong).

Bvute reported the matter at ZRP Mberengwa. He said that he was now feared for his life.

V11s that “Passion Is Not Java”.

By Showbiz Reporter | In August, the heroic Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono shut-the-sports on the foul mouthed pastor Passion Java who had spent the weekend throwing a party over his first 2 million views.

Java, is the producer of the Mnangagwa election campaign song, Patati Patata featuring the Congolese Kofi Olomide.

Chin’ono printed out how the numbers are everything from suspicious to discredited.

Said Chin’ono: They don’t just rig elections, they also rig YouTube views! Dear ZANUPF comrades, We went to university in Europe and America, and some of our classmates are now executives at social media companies like YouTube! You can lie and rig to rural people but not to us. Happy weekend

One of Zimbabwe’s most effective social influencers, TaffyTheMan has released evidence that a person does not have to purchase follower-ship and that simple organics are enough to strike the mark in the community.

His revelation comes barely a year after his Facebook page was hacked and all effort to recover it failed.

Taffy, who sticks to his focus on edutainment, is an Australia based musician; he writes his own songs, acts them out, produces them, and does the rest with no backing support from anyone. He neither purchases followers or likes, the way the controversial Passion Java does.

He has told ZimEye, it takes him a day or two to produce his bombshell songs.

It appeared all a dead end, when in early 2020, TaffyTheMan started struggling to market his videos after his page was hacked by a notorious syndicate that lures content producers using outrageous advert money offers. All efforts to recover the page fell flat when it emerged their sophisticated methodology had granted them total access;n That page had about 47,000 followers. But barely a year later, he has a bouncing 100,000 on his new page, Taffy Theman.

He issues his announcement saying he can now show it forth that Passion is not Java. He says:

100 000 followers ???
Thank You so much

No social media fights (fake or real); no Mbinga Endorsements; no newspaper feature, no radio or t.v interview, never gone to any of the so called big platforms ndichiti ndiposteiwo; Yet we keep moving.

A year ago my old page Zimba.com was hacked, it had so many followers, I had to start afresh; 365 days later here we are
No amount of sabotage or snub-otage can stop the rise of an idea whose time has come.

I also want to address this issue publicly
I will not stop doing my political satire just so I can make certain individuals and corporates comfortable enough to work with me.

Money is good, but it is not the reason why I do what I do,passion is (not Java)
I would rather own and control 100% of a little than be 100% owned and controlled for much.

If we are gona work together it has to be from a position of mutual respect.
I know my worth.

Thank you ?

Chiyangwa In Desperate Bid To Recover Land Taken By Govt

ZANU PF’s Zvimba South legislator and businessman Philip Chiyangwa is challenging the compulsory acquisition of his land in Warren Park, Harare, where the State wants to set up a museum for African liberation.

This is contained in a High Court chamber application where Chiyangwa is challenging the seizure of the land, which measures about 5,5 hectares.

Chiyangwa, the executive chairman of Kilima Investments, the company that owns the property, is accusing the government of pulling out of talks to buy the land, opting instead to grab it and wants the court to issue an order declaring the attempt null and void, unconstitutional and having no justification in an “open and democratic society.”

The land in contention is Stand 9297 Warren Park Township of Warren Park where government is setting up a museum to chronicle Africa’s liberation.

In August, President Emmerson Mnangagwa invited 16 countries to participate in the construction of the museum during the official launch of the first phase of the project.

Chiyangwa said the government was trying to avoid paying for the land by resorting to compulsory acquisition despite making a move to negotiate payment terms earlier.

“It is apparent to the applicant that the respondent is set to forcibly proceed and arbitrarily appropriate applicants property.

Applicant contends that the respondent’s conduct is manifestly unconstitutional, wrongful and prejudicial to the applicant’s rights and interests for the following reasons,” Chiyangwa said in his founding affidavit filed on November 12 through his lawyers Mutamangira and Associates.

“The respondents’ conduct is wholly arbitrary, unconstitutional and has no place for justification in an open and democratic society.”

Lands and Agriculture minister, Anxious Masuka, who is cited as the respondent, said in the Government Gazette that he was compulsorily acquiring the land on behalf of the President.

Ironically, Chiyangwa heads a campaign by Zanu PF to raise US$140 million for Mnangagwa’s 2023 re-election campaign.

He heads a fundraising committee made up of late Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s ex-wife, Zodwa Mkandla, Everisto Mudhikwa, Codes Scott Sakupwanya,Tafadzwa Musarara and Antony Pote.

Chiyangwa said he was given the land by Harare City Council as restitution for properties the city had grabbed from him.

The settlements were agreed and registered before the High Court in 2015.In his affidavit, Chiyangwa said the head of the Institute of African Knowledge secretariat behind the construction of the museum, Kwame Muzawazi expressed interest in the property.

“The said ambassador Muzawazi advised the applicant’s managing director Brian Chiyangwa of an intention on the part of the Institute of African Knowledge to make an offer for the purchase of applicant’s entire property,” Chiyangwa said.

“Ambassador Muzawazi advised the applicant that the Institute of African Knowledge is a government department in the Office of the President and Cabinet with the responsibility of constructing a museum for the history of African liberation.”

However, nothing came out of the offer, but that did not stop government from “recently engaging the applicant in negotiations for the acquisition of the land”.

“The negotiations have not yet been finalised in producing an agreement, and the parties have agreed on an acceptable offer being tabled by the government.

It is untenable that in an open, free, fair and democratic society the government now seeks to renege on negotiations and instead now seeks to emasculate the applicant to part with his property through forcible means by arbitrary application of the law.”

Chiyangwa said he was served with a notice to compulsorily acquire the property on November 3, 2021.

“On November 3, 2021, the applicant through its legal practitioners of record communicated its objection to proposed compulsory acquisition of the property.

The respondent has not made any communication to the applicant indicating any change of position notwithstanding the details of objection to compulsory acquisition of the applicants property.”

The businessman planned to construct a world-class shopping complex at the site, which he says will include supermarkets, fuel service station, clothing shops and all types of complementary infrastructure.

“To date, the applicant has invested more than US$10 million and the applicant’s complex nears completion and would have been due for use and access to the public before the end of the year 2021,” he said.

The matter is yet to be heard while Masuka is still to file opposing papers.

Bev Sibanda Dumps Manager Of 11 Years

By A Correspondent- Beverly “Bev” Sibanda says she has sacked, Harpers Mapimhidze, her manager of 11 years via a text message.

The 28-year-old raunchy dancer told H-Metro that she has even removed Harpers from their WhatsApp group, and has become her own manager.

Bev said she made the drastic move as Harpers became preoccupied with managing a pub since the relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions. She said:

I have removed Harpers from my WhatsApp group after realising that he was no longer committed to her brand.

‘No-One Has Honoured Up Over November 2017 Coup’

By Pride Mkono| One of the most striking features of Zimbabwe’s national crisis is impunity and complete lack of accountability.

This has a long history but I will just hazard a few.

The atrocities and excesses of the liberation struggle period have remain closed forever in the closet of ‘reconciliation.’

No one knows to this day who killed Chairman Chitepo, who ordered hits on Nyadzonia and Chimoio among many other painful episodes which surely deserve closure.

Soon after independence, nothing has been done to ensure healing and justice for the Gukurahundi massacres.

Beyond the inflammatory ‘moment of madness’ statement by the late former President Robert Mugabe, there is nothing which has been done to genuinely address the matter.

Since 2000, when the MDC was formed and it proved to be a real challenger to ZANU PF hegemony, hundreds of its supporters have been killed by state agents and known ZANU PF militias.

The worst of these killings happening ahead of the abortive and sham June 27, 2008 run off.

To date no one has honoured up. Even during the inclusive government period, none of those holding substantive political power attempted to address the issue beyond window dressing.

This is our Zimbabwe, a country of impunity! On 15 November 2017, the nation woke up to a brief military statement by the Major General SB Moyo (late) declaring that they (military) had taken over briefly to deal with ‘criminals surrounding the president.’I need not state this was a military coup.

What followed was a march organised by war veterans on 17 November 2017. To the discerning eye, this march was a smokescreen to buy public support for the coup and give it appearance of popular will. On the day, people showed up in hundreds of thousands across the major urban centres.

Local and international media was well mobilised and resourced to captured the moment, and they did. To date the internet is awash with pictures and videos of ecstatic Zimbabweans mingling as one with the military.

Juxtaposing those pictures with those from 1 August 2018 post election violence and the crackdown of January 2019 shows that one side was used. These large numbers were mobilised by all political parties including the mainstream opposition, MDC and it’s offshoots, civil society and organised labour. Students, workers and vendors too, were not to be left out.

Their leaders like those of political parties and civil society having been resourced to actively support the coup. The coup masters had been able to use instant gratification and promise of future power as a bargaining chip. Well, it turned out to be a poisoned chalice. I need not go into how the marriage of convenience, the sweetheart association has turned out to be.

For my part, I labeled it the *’the nation’s darkest hour’*. The names I was called can not be possible printed here but at the time, I downed it all with cold quarts which were in endless flow (I digress). Now that it is apparent that the shit has hit the fan, will those who called on people to march apologize.

Will all the opposition leader acknowledge the mistake. Will those who fanciful kissed soldiers and spoke glowing of the coup be brave enough to swallow their words.

Will those who aided and abetted the November 2017 events honour up? Or they will walk down the same old path of history; impunity and zero apology? We shall see!

CIOs Use COVID-19 To Arrest Voter Registration Campaigners In Gweru

THE director for Project Vote263, Youngster Matete, was on Tuesday arrested in Gweru at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) offices and charged with illegally gathering people for purposes of registering them to vote.

Matete was arrested together with Allan Chipoyi, the chairperson of the non-governmental organisation.

It is alleged that they mobilised transport for about 30 people in Mkoba constituency and ferried them to Zec offices so that they could register to vote.

The people were dispersed before they could register.

Upon our arrival at the Zec district offices with not more than 30 people from Mkoba, who we were assisting to register to vote, two State agents in casual clothes approached me and Matete, and interrogated us over why we illegally transported so many people, breaking COVID-19 restrictions.

We were then arrested for illegally gathering at the Zec offices. The rest of the people were sent back home without registering to vote,” Chipoyi told Southern Eye yesterday.

The pair was detained at Gweru Central Police Station and later released.

“Matete was asked to pay $3 000 as fine and I was released without paying,” Chipoyi said, adding that State agents and police had been watching their voter mobilisation programme.

However, Chipoyi said the arrest would not deter them from continuing with mobilising people to register to vote ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We are a non-partisan organisation yearning for freedom in our country. We remain unshaken, and we will continue assisting Zimbabweans to carry out the constitutionally-mandated obligation of voting through provision of transportation facilities to them in order for them to register to vote,” he said.

Efforts to get a comment from police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi were fruitless as he was not answering his phone.

Chipoyi said his organisation was aiming to have at least three million people registered to vote.

The Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation and the opposition MDC Alliance party have also been undertaking programmes to get people throughout the country to register to vote as the country gears for elections.

By A Correspondent- Redcliff man Thubeihle Kheshow (26) who allegedly killed seven people in a knife and spear rampage was mentally unfit to stand trial the court yesterday.

Kheshow was examined by two psychiatrists and discovered that he had developed mental health problems.

Kwekwe District prosecutor Yeukai Mugumba said,” Two doctors examined him. under the Mental Health Act and discovered that he is not well”.

She further stated that “if he does not go on trial owing to his illness, a special verdict will be handed down by the High court. A special verdict can either find one guilty or not guilty depending on the gravity of the murder”.

Kheshow was charged with seven counts of murder, attempted murder and rape after an early morning attack on his victims in Redcliff Stone Clare suburb.

ED Commissions 28 Houses For Civil Servants

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa Wednesday commissioned 28 houses for civil servants that took the government 15 years to construct under the Beitbridge Redevelopment Programme.

The housing project started in 2006 when Mnangagwa was then the Rural Housing Minister under Robert Mugabe’s administration.

The houses are 56  in total consisting of three-bedroom apartments.

However, 28 were recently completed and construction on the other 24 is yet to be finished.

Speaking at the launch in Beitbridge town, Mnangagwa said he was “proud” to have finished the project 15 years later and promised to construct more houses for civil servants.

“All our border towns have accommodation challenges. So, the government is seized with the project of constructing housing units in all these border towns so that civil servants and all agencies will have adequate and decent accommodation,” he said.

“I am happy that I began this project in 2006, and due to my resilience, I am completing it in 2021. The project stalled in 2008 but was restarted in 2019 under the second republic. So far, 52 units have been completed, and more are on the way.”

He added: “Guided by the zeal on our national vision of attaining a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society status by 2030, my government is committed to ensure that every citizen has access to sustainable, modern, liveable, and affordable shelter.”

The government is promising to construct 220 000 houses before 2025. On Tuesday, Cabinet also committed to the construction of 3 000 public primary and secondary schools, some with boarding facilities, by 2025.

ED Says By-elections To Go Ahead Even Without Opposition Participation

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said by-elections would go ahead even if the opposition boycotts them to protest his failure to implement reforms that would guarantee free and fair polls.

Mnangagwa made the remarks while addressing about 6 000 party supporters in Dulivhadzimo Stadium in Beitbridge.  Most of the supporters were bussed from different parts of the province.

Mnangagwa claimed victory was certain for the ruling party.

“We are going to have by-elections in 2022 and tinovasvasvanga (we will trounce them). In 2023, we will then have general elections tovarakasha (we will beat them),” Mnangagwa boasted as the crowd cheered.

“The opposition has hinted that they will boycott the elections, but we will hold them all the same.”

Mnangagwa has said the by-elections will be held during the first quarter of next year.

There are 133 vacant Parliamentary and local government seats following the recall of MDC Alliance legislators and councillors.

Mnangagwa, who was in the border town to preside over the commissioning of 28 houses for civil servants, accused opposition-run councils of failure to provide efficient service.

“We expect local authorities to take the leading role in the provision of houses. We expect them to address housing, but we have no local authorities, they are dead.  They should be complementing government in the provision of houses, but both rural and urban local authorities fail,” he said.

While Mnangagwa was addressing the Beitbridge crowd, his spokesperson George Charamba went on Twitter, to claim that the announcement of by-elections by Mnangagwa caught the MDCs by surprise, and unprepared.

“Not only are they unprepared and broke; they mortally fear that a thorough thumping by the ruling Zanu PF will remove the benefit of the doubt on which they hoped to fundraise ahead of 2023,” Charamba said.

“By-election results, particularly margin of defeat and inability to rouse their apathetic supporters will make them un-bankable in the eyes of their Western sponsors. Further, I made the point that those pretending to agitate for the opposition by demanding by-elections, were not only out of touch with the thinking in the opposition; they were actually singing a hymn the opposition does not find melodious. At Kopa in Chimanimani, the President called the bluff and hinted by-elections will come in the first quarter of 2022,” he said.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said a clear roadmap of reforms was non-negotiable.

“The consistent position that’s been taken by the MDC Alliance is that any proclamation for elections must be accompanied by a clear reform roadmap that paves the way for an undisputed election. The bad governance and legitimacy crisis that continues to plague Mr Mnangagwa’s regime is a direct result of the disputed election of 2018,” Mahere said.

She said the MDC Alliance was unwavering in its call for the alignment of electoral laws with the Constitution, adding that there was need to disband the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube said: “It is regrettable that he (Charamba) chose to be verbose to mask Zanu PF’s fear for electoral reforms while totally misrepresenting our position on the same to mean that we are scared of by-elections.”

Mnangagwa was accompanied by Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, former Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri and several senior government officials.-newsday

ED To Visit SK Moyo Family Home

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa will on Wednesday afternoon visit the family of the late veteran nationalist and Zanu-PF spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo in Bulawayo to pass his condolences.

The President revealed this as he touched down at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo airport in the city, enroute to Beitbridge where he is expected to commission staff houses for civil servants.

In an impromptu address to hundreds of party supporters that had gathered at the airport to welcome him, the President said the nation had lost a selfless leader.

“We are very sorry about our brother and colleague, SK Moyo who passed on. We lost a great Comrade in the struggle, in government and in the party, we are very sorry, we have declared him a National Hero.

“Just now we are going to Beitbridge for a meeting there, in the afternoon, when we come back, we will visit the family,” said President Mnangagwa.

Stray Elephants Cause Panic In Lupane

By A Correspondent- Residents at Lupane Centre are living in fear after stray elephants, one of them with a calf, were spotted in the area on Tuesday.

According to authorities in Lupane District, the presence of elephants is not new in Lupane as the area is adjacent to the Hwange National Park with vast conservancies around, but, the visit by the jumbos this time of the year is not common.

Rangers from Kusile Rural District Council (KRDC)’s Communal Areas Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (Campfire) quickly mobilised and hunted down the elephants following reports that a herd of three including a calf had been spotted along the Victoria Falls highway near Mabhikwa High School while another with a calf had been spotted in Ndengwende village near Lupane Police Camp.

Rangers shot dead a bull at Madojwa village a few kilometres from Lupane centre Wednesday.

The ones that were spotted near Mabhikwa High School at the layby reportedly moved past the Grain Marketing Board Lupane depot and residential areas.

KRDC acting chief executive Mr Wellington Mthembo yesterday said one bull had been shot down. He added:

People in Lupane have co-existed with elephants for a long time. There are indigenous forests that are habitat to elephants so they always come out. The only issue now is when they come closer to the community and the frequency which is getting higher. Usually, they come during the cropping season.

Incidents of wildlife especially elephants roaming around human settlements have become common in areas near national parks.

Storm Ravages Mash Central Buildings

By A Correspondent- An estimated 30 buildings in Mashonaland Central were damaged by storm including classroom blocks at Bradley Primary school, high school and part of Nyagurungo clinic where 16 asbestos sheets were blown away on Tuesday.

Solar panels at the clinic were also destroyed leaving it with no backup of power supply.

Residents who spoke to Bulawayo24.com said they escaped unhurt.

“The house collapsed during the storm and damaged the furniture in the house.

Luckily no one was home otherwise they could have been hurt,” said Eunice Choto.

Bradley Primary School Development Committee Chairman Majaira Chimbiro said the damage was a huge blow for the school as the storm hit them unexpectedly.

“We are touched because the damaged block was the heart of the school.

We need roofing sheets mainly because there are some exam classes and learners cannot write exams outside,” he said.

Chief Mutumba said residents have little time to make repairs as end of year exams are fast approaching.

Affected villages in Ward 7 include Kufinya, Musiyiwa, Matanga and Chiwayo.

Chinese Miner Claims Only Six Uzumba Villagers Will Be Displaced

Chinese granite miner Heijin, which is being accused of putting up a mining operation in Uzumba that is likely to displace villagers, has claimed that only six villagers will be displaced by its activities.

This comes after government last month issued a notice to shut down its operations in Kaseke Village in Uzumba after villagers resisted their removal from the 300-hectare piece of land earmarked for the operation.

But the miner yesterday said only six homesteads were directly sitting on the resources to be mined, and that it had already agreed compensation with villagers.

“The mining project zone area has people occupying it.They are sitting directly on the black granite rock to be mined.

They are six and the company is prepared to compensate them as they are directly affected.

We understand that there is a need to relocate them. A good place to relocate them has already been found.

The affected will be given the opportunity to have first preference in gaining employment at Heijin provided they are able bodied,” it said in a statement.

“Moreover, each household will be given US$2 000 as a compensation to start income-generating projects.

The mining company will offer assistance with knowledge of desired projects.

Heijin pledges to cover full costs required for resettlement and compensation for the affected households in the mining area.

Heijin managed to come up with a relocation and compensation plan for the affected.”

It said under the agreement reached with the families, it was set to build five-roomed houses with separate round-thatched kitchens, a double blair toilet with a bathroom, solar power for lighting per household, boundary fence for each homestead and security, drill boreholes for water and provide a good accessible road network.

The company is also set to construct classroom blocks, a clinic, supply medical consumables and provide the community with skills to engage in good agricultural practices as well as maintain the roads in the area.

Heijin, said it was bound by the host country’s laws and regulations such as the Rural District Councils Act, Traditional Leaders Act, Environmental Management Act and the Communal Lands Act.

Last month, Chief Nyajina told Cabinet ministers and Zanu PF officials that around 80 families would be affected by the project.

However, the company refuted the claims, saying it was not given the chance to speak at the meeting. It also claimed that there was an agenda to cause a rift between Kaseke villagers and Heijin.

“Khaya Moyo Was Troubled By 2017 Coup” – But Of Course, He Was In Wrong Basket Again

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “Khaya Moyo was troubled and conflicted by sad events of November 2017,” said Professor Jonathan Moyo.

Of course, Khaya Moyo was deeply troubled by the November 2017 military coup because he had supported Joyce Mujuru and was forever grateful when Mugabe forgave him when Mujuru and company were booted out of the party in 2014. To show his gratitude he had pledged his dying loyalty to Mugabe and G40.

There is a photograph of Simon Khaya Moyo extending to shake Robert Mugabe’s hand with Mugabe and his wife looking at the extended hand with contempt and bemusement. What some people will do for power!

When Mnangagwa was booted out of the party on 5 November 2017, it was Khaya Moyo who had announced the firing to the nation with a Cheshire-cat grin on his face. He must have been content that this time he had backed the winning horse.

Khaya Moyo had held ambition of being one of the VP in the Mujuru led government but that went up in smoke when Mujuru lost the rat race. Khaya Moyo was lucky to retain a senior position after 2014 and must have even began to hope he might still be VP after all.

The military coup must have come as a lighting bolt out of a clear blue sky. There was his hopes of becoming VP up in smoke once again! Indeed, he must have been worried sick that the coup leaders may consider him one of the G40 leaders and go after him big time.

G40 leaders like Professor Jonathan Moyo , Saviour Kasukuwere, etc. found themselves trapped like rats in a house on fire; they very lucky to escape with their lives. Many of the G40 supporters quickly switched their allegiance and kept their head down.

Khaya Moyo must have deleted all text messages, e-mails, etc. he had received from Mugabe, Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and all the other G40 leaders. He did not know them and did not want to speak or hear from any of them.

Mnangagwa and his coup plotters have failed to revive the economy and so the political unrest is in the air and the infighting for power in Zanu PF itself is still as intense as ever. The Lacoste faction divided into two soon after the coup and the G40 is threatening a come back. Poor Khaya Moyo must have felt being pulled hither and thither forever fearful of finding himself in the wrong basket again!

“Zanu PF ichatonga kuzvika madonki amera nyanga!” (Zanu PF will rule until donkeys have horns!) Khaya Moyo once boasted. I bet he never ever imagined that ruling could ever be so stressful!

“Everything Is Possible In Numbers”

By Ndaba Nhuku- Community empowerment is not always government led, neither does it need government involvement.

Although I have only passed by the town of Gwanda once, it struck me as a potential place where community empowerment can thrive. This does not require government initiative.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT GWANDA

On its website, Gwanda town describes itself as ‘the commercial and industrial hub of Matabeleland South Province. Its economic activities revolve around the mining of Gold at Vubachikwe Mine, Blanket Mine, Jessie Mine, Freda Mine and lime at Colleen Bawn.

There are also numerous other gold ore processing plants (Gold Stamp Mills) some of which lie within the municipal area of Gwanda town.’ That is its big structured economic description which indeed excludes the potentiality of all its resources being to develop and empower its communities and surrounding areas.

The town was founded in 1900 and was named after a nearby hill called Jahunda. In 2012 Gwanda town had an estimated population of 27 000 individuals. Gwanda town is strategically positioned, 126kilometres south-east of Bulawayo and 196 kilometres from Beitbridge and Musina (South Africa) border post, one of the busiest borders in Africa, with excellent road and rail links direct to South Africa.

Thus, as the provincial capital of Matabeleland South Province, the town has unlimited potential for economic growth and development servicing the commercial service centre, the surrounding mine settlements and the safari and farming communities in the province. Significantly, Gwanda serves a huge population as far as Beitbridge, Insiza and Matobo and Umzingwane districts.

ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES

Browsing through its website and published literature about Gwanda and surrounding areas are recognised as good for livestock production which makes it a great potential for agro-process investment.

Thus, one can positively assert that other than having a highly literate population ideal for quality workforce in any industry, Gwanda is undoubtably good for agro-processing, mineral processing, infrastructure development and manufacturing sector.

These are sectors that empower those who already have money, big investors. They can employ local people but as we all know, they tend to controversially seek employees further afield.

When discussing economc activities of a place like Gwanda, one has to be mindful of including its socio-economic structure.

As such, some areas around Gwanda are blessed with ‘higher rainfall, better soils, more commercial agriculture, higher population density and higher household incomes.’

However, other parts like ‘Mberengwa, Mwenezi and Beitbridge Districts and the southern parts of Mangwe, Gwanda and Matobo Districts, have lower rainfall, poor soils, more communal lands and ranchlands, lower population density and lower household incomes.’

However, they contribute towards making it very possible to empower the local people.

EMPOWERING LOCAL COMMUNITY

This part is the gist of this article. Gwanda is served by three higher institutions of learning, Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo Polytechnic, formerly Gwanda ZINTEC College and Gwanda State university with a combined student population of more that 12 000.

The two institutions are kilometres apart serviced by busy tarred road with public transport. Although the town periodically faces water and electricity shortages like the entire country, it is in a better position because, besides an abundance of gold mining by companies and gold panners, it is also home to Zimbabwe’s most sought-after worm delicacy, amacimbi/madora/mopani worms.

In addition, Gwanda is home to goat breeding and chicken rearing. There are several boarding and day secondary schools around the town and its surrounding areas.

POTENTIAL COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES BEAR IN MIND THESE ARE MERE EXAMPLES, AND CAN APPLY TO ANY AREA AND NOT GWANDA ONLY

What can be done? Everything is possible in large numbers, what one can not do alone due to lack of financial muscle can do with others if they pool resources together. Council land is still reasonable cheap.

Nothing stops Gwanda folks from coming together as a group of 10, 20 or 50 even 00 individuals. If 20 individuals put together 500US each; that is 10000 and they buy a piece of land and build several simple students accommodation.

Even those without money can sell their cattle or goats to raise the cash. If not interested in student accommodation, same land can be bought to be used as a warehouse for storing amacimbi.

Owners would employ local folks for macimbi harvesting, or buying from harvesters to stock in the warehouse and consequently supply the rest of the country. With small amounts villagers can come together with sabhuku, combine resources to buy amathole / calnves and keep these for mature and sell.

This doesn’t need a lot of money. People take turns to look after them or if resources permit, proper grazing structures set up. With its lots of goats, even smaller amounts needed to start this project.

Same as rearing makhaya chicken. It takes only 3 or 5 individuals to do a very viable project of inkukhu. Gwanda like any other place has orphans, a piece of land worked on by villagers as a community garden rotating once a month can serve as its own Charity organisation. It also empowers the concerned children.

If no communal land available, a local person with huge land care offer for free or lease theirs to the group. You can rent from local school’s unused land.

The same principle can be used to come together, start a sewing club that approaches local schools and offer to supply uniforms affordable to the local community parents.

Everyone benefits. Locals can rent a shop and turn it into a viable Stationery shop for local schools. Gold panners can come together and buy land or mines, and do their mining or housing estates.

All these are possible if people come together in numbers. In small numbers and even as family siblings, most of these projects or ventures can be undertaken by pooling resources together and conducting business professionally.

In addition to all other income generating and empowerment projects, fishery is another viable project the community can venture in with good water supplies

BENEFITS TO COMMUNITY

Control of local resources by local people Enabling employment of local people Empowering local people and training in the income generating projects easily manageable Developing local area as desired by local people and to meet their needs.

Established businesses gradually work in partnership with local people and their empowerment groups Established businesses will see the value of giving buck to the community.

The community is able to easily identify local leadership that enables the development of the local areas. Strengthens the institutions, schools, colleges, churches of the local communities. Reduces poverty and dependency syndrome

NOTE: Always legally register your urban group and ensure your name is spelt as in your ID, whether you do it as family or in community groups. Always protect everyone’s interests by drawing up some consensus contract / constitution about contributions, meeting attendances and membership terminations

NOT EVERYONE IS FOR GROUP VENTURE

Some people are simply not cut for group activities. They thrive as individuals. They can advise on technicalities or with information. Always be resourceful and don’t pay for everything, there are some people who willing to give free advice.

Malema, Vows To Die For & With Zimbabweans

By A Correspondent- Controversial South African opposition politician, Julius Malema, has strongly spoken against calls by political parties, supporters, and civil society organisations to remove foreigners from South Africa.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party leader said he would rather lose votes in the 2024 elections than allow millions of Zimbabweans, Nigerians and other nations to return home. In a tweet, Malema said:

Someone said to me ‘if you want us to vote for you in 2024 you must abandon this thing of foreigners’. I’m prepared to go home. I’m fine.

I will never take a platform and denounce Africans. I will never do it. If it means votes are doing, let them go.

I’m prepared to go home. But to take a platform and please the white minority by pointing a finger at other fellow black brothers, I’m not going to do that.

When I see a Nigerian or a Zimbabwean or a Congolese or Ghanaian, I see myself.

The EFF can do internal research to see how much this thing is hurting the EFF, but I am not prepared to take a platform to say ‘foreigners must go home’. I would rather not be the president of South Africa.

I will be the president of my children at home. We will practice Cabinet issues there. I don’ want to.

You mean I should go and tell these hungry Zimbabweans to leave and when I tell them to leave, I send them where.

The issue of foreign nationals living in South Africa, especially those who are undocumented, continues to be a heated debate in southern Africa’s largest economy.

With political parties racing to form coalitions for 66 hung municipalities, two key king markers – Action SA led by former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba and the Patriotic Alliance led by Gayton McKenzie – have made it clear that no illegal foreigners will be allowed to live in their municipalities.

Bev Fires Manager Via Text Message

By A Correspondent- Beverly “Bev” Sibanda says she has sacked, Harpers Mapimhidze, her manager of 11 years via a text message.

The 28-year-old raunchy dancer told H-Metro that she has even removed Harpers from their WhatsApp group, and has become her own manager.

Bev said she made the drastic move as Harpers became preoccupied with managing a pub since the relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions. She said:

I have removed Harpers from my WhatsApp group after realising that he was no longer committed to her brand.

Body Exhumation “Exposes” Doves

By A Correspondent- Police on Wednesday exhumed two bodies buried in one grave at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery in Harare hoping to get to the bottom of the Doves Funeral Services (DFS) “empty coffin” mystery.

DSF allegedly buried an empty coffin in Nyanga after the body of the late Maxwell Chimwamurombe was inexplicably left behind at its parlour in Harare.

The end of life industry company is accused of burying Chimwamurombe in the same coffin as a pauper in Harare, after realising its mistake.

Police detectives watched as Doves funeral undertakers carefully dug up a coffin at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery, which they opened to reveal two bodies.

One of those bodies is believed to be that of Chimwamurombe, who died in March in a drowning incident in Mutoko and was supposedly buried in Nyanga.

The coffin was loaded onto the back of a police Ford Ranger and driven to the Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary.

Forensic experts are expected to extract DNA samples from the body in the hope of identifying the individual buried alongside the pauper.

A Doves spokesman declined to comment, referring ZimLive to a statement issued in October, in which the company said it is “committed to a full investigation of the matter to bring it to completion.”

Sources told ZimLive that a driver who was supposed to be ferrying Chimwamurombe’s body became aware that the coffin was empty during burial at a village in Nyanga.

The driver reportedly informed one of the senior managers at Doves after the burial, but the manager did not take any action.

Instead, Doves is believed to have taken Chimwamurombe’s remains and placed them in the same coffin as a dead man whose body was given to Doves by the department of social welfare to conduct a pauper’s burial.

Chimwamurombe’s family has demanded compensation from Doves.

Police are expected to conduct the second exhumation in Nyanga, to confirm that a coffin was buried without a body.

Chiyangwa, Mnangagwa Clash Over Land

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF’s Zvimba South legislator and businessman Philip Chiyangwa is challenging the compulsory acquisition of his land in Warren Park, Harare, where the State wants to set up a museum for African liberation.

This is contained in a High Court chamber application where Chiyangwa is challenging the seizure of the land, which measures about 5,5 hectares.
Chiyangwa, the executive chairman of Kilima Investments, the company that owns the property, is accusing the government of pulling out of talks to buy the land, opting instead to grab it and wants the court to issue an order declaring the attempt null and void, unconstitutional and having no justification in an “open and democratic society”.
The settlements were agreed and registered before the High Court in 2015.
In his affidavit, Chiyangwa said the head of the Institute of African Knowledge secretariat behind the construction of the museum, Kwame Muzawazi expressed interest in the property.

Chamisa Predicts Resounding 2023 Bulawayo Election Victory

By A Correspondent- MDC-Alliance is targeting half a million votes in Bulawayo, with the party having intensified its voter registration campaign in the second capital.

The campaign is being undertaken at a time when Zec warned that the city stands to lose two or three constituencies in the next delimitation exercise as the number of registered voters falls far short of the minimum threshold.
The opposition party’s provincial MDC Alliance spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza yesterday told Southern Eye that they were mobilising eligible people to register as voters during the by-elections and 2023 plebiscite.
“We are targeting to register 500 000 voters.
“We have registered big numbers and do not intend to intimidate our competitors by revealing exact details. We are offering transport to the registration offices,” Chirowodza said.
“The only time we will not be providing transport is when Zec sets up voter registration kiosks in Bulawayo’s districts.
“There are huge numbers of prospective registrants who will get an opportunity to register to vote once Zec sets up voter registration kiosks in Bulawayo’s districts.”
Recently, MDC Alliance youths launched a pilot door-to-door voter registration campaign targeting to register 90 000 new voters ahead of the delimitation exercise.
In June, government announced that a population census will be held in April next year with results expected in August.
It said the delimitation exercise and creation of new electoral boundaries would begin in October and end in December 2022.

Buhera Villagers Refuse To Buy Mnangagwa Sanctions Rhetoric

Tsvangirai Villagers Embarrass Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Villagers in the late former MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s Buhera rural home have disagreed with Zanu PF’s rhetoric of blaming sanctions for the failing economy.

The Mirror reports that the villagers instead believe that the economic challenges bedevilling the country were exacerbated by corruption.

According to the Masvingo based publication, the sanctions disapproval came out during the Buhera anti-sanctions demonstrations held on 25 October.

Demonstrators during that day moved from Chain business centre to Murambinda Growth Point, led by ZANU PF district leadership.

Addressing the demonstrators, district Chairperson Causemore Chimombe said sanctions were hurting the economy and needed to be removed unconditionally.

But some villagers who participated in the demonstrations believe that Zimbabwe’s economic decline had little to do with sanctions.

They urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remove all senior Government officials implicated in corruption as a way of improving the economy.

Victory For Katsimberis As Magistrate Says Suspended Town Clerk And Others Have A Case To Answer

By A Correspondent| Harare Magistrate Bianca Makwande has dismissed an application for exception of charges filed by suspended City of Harare Town Clerk Hosiah Chisango, Isaiah Chawatama and five others saying they have a case to answer before the court.

The seven are in court facing charges of malicious damage to property after they connived to destroy a show house built by property developer George Katsimberis at Pokugara Estate in Borrowdale.

The show house was built as part of a joint venture agreement entered between Katsimberis and controversial land baron Kenneth Raydon Sharpe.

In their arguments, defense counsel for the accused person told the court that the case outline did not specify roles played by each of the accused persons.

The director of works also told the court that he was on leave when the destruction was conducted hence he is being improperly charged.

Chisango also raised the issue of improper splitting of charges based on the same affidavit deposed before the High Court.

Chisango is facing another charge of perjury which is already at trial stage.

In her ruling, Makwande said the issues raised by the defence can only be dealt with during trial as they did not form a strong basis for exception.

Trial for the seven will now commence on the 25th of November 2021 after Chisango’s defense counsel requested for a later date.

This followed indications by the state that it was ready for trial to commence.

IMF Snubs Zim

By A Correspondent- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday said it was precluded from providing financial support to Zimbabwe due to its “unsustainable debt and external arrears,” and any lending arrangement would require a clear path to a comprehensive restructuring of the African country’s external debt.

Zimbabwe, which has suffered from bouts of hyperinflation in the last 15 years, has not received funding from lenders like the IMF and World bank for more than two decades due to arrears.

Its external debt is more than US$10 billion and most of it is in arrears.

“A Fund financial arrangement would require a clear path to comprehensive restructuring of Zimbabwe’s external debt, including the clearance of arrears and obtaining financing assurances from creditors,” the IMF said.

Creditors owed by Zimbabwe include the World Bank, African Development Bank, European Investment Bank and the Paris Club. The national treasury says it is working on a plan to clear the arrears.

The IMF said its staff completed a virtual mission to Zimbabwe from October 16 to November 16, and noted “significant” efforts by authorities to stem inflation, contain budget deficits and reserve money growth.

However, decisive actions were needed to accelerate reforms, improve the business climate and reduce governance vulnerabilities, the fund said in a statement.

“Decisive actions are needed to lock-in economic stabilisation gains and accelerate reforms. The near-term macroeconomic imperative is to continue with the close coordination among fiscal, exchange rate, and monetary policies,” the IMF said.

Among the key reforms that the IMF wants to see is “greater official exchange rate flexibility and tackling forex market distortions”.

This is a reference to the foreign currency auction, widely criticised by leading businesses for overvaluing the Zimdollar and delaying allocations.

Zimbabwe is spending a larger proportion of its budget on infrastructure, but the IMF says there must be a balance between “critical spending” and “containing fiscal deficits”.

The IMF says there is some economic recovery, underpinned by good harvests and economic activity.

“Economic activity is recovering in 2021, with real GDP expected to grow by about 6 percent, reflecting a bumper agricultural output, increased mining and energy production, buoyant construction and manufacturing activity, and increased infrastructure investment,” the IMF said. –Reuters

ZEC took ghosts from the 2013 Nikuv voters roll, made them younger by removing 60 years (some 50, 40, 30) and added them to the 2018 voters roll.

What Causes Diabetes?

Mavaza: ZRP Cops Can Disguise Themselves By Putting On Party’s Regalia During An Operation?

The controversial picture of the ZRP cop

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The social media went crazy flying the picture of a police officer in ZANU PF regalia. The key board brigade started to vilify the poor officer and sharing her photo around the world. Truth being told the lady looked stunningly beautiful in the ZANU PF regalia.

The opposition and its affiliates decided to label the whole police force to be compromised by ZANU PF. The cries and noise being made by the opposition is baseless. They were supposed to ask before rushing to the press with the fake news. The office concerned is Detective Supt Memory Kanhiriri.

She was on duty at the ZANU PF conference. She was there on duty and to maintain law and order. In all terms she was on duty as a detective.

A detective is an investigator, usually a member of a law enforcement agency. They often collect information to solve crimes by talking to witnesses and informants, collecting physical evidence, or searching records in databases. This leads them to arrest criminals and enable them to be convicted in court. There are two basic types of detectives public and private. Solving puzzles is an important part of the job, regardless of the application. So sometimes detectives have to be disguised in order to flash out criminals.

The use of the undercover technique, including proprietary business entities, is essential to the detection, prevention, and prosecution of white collar crimes, public corruption, terrorism, organized crime, offenses involving controlled substances, and other priority areas of investigation. However, these techniques inherently involve an element of deception and may require cooperation with persons whose motivation and conduct are open to question, and so should be carefully considered and monitored. The detective does not put on uniform but dresses in anyway depending with the job he or she was doing.

On this day the officer Memory Kanhiriri was on duty at the ZANU PF conference in Gweru. The conference was addressed by the president virtually. Very fee people were allowed at the venue in Bindura and the rest were to attend in their prospective provinces and the program was virtual.

Supt Kanhiriri had to disguise her self and chose to dress in a way she was not recognised. She picked a dress which would make her fit on the midst of those who had attended. Her dress of choice was a dress which resembles the ZANU PF regalia.

It was this choice which has made the opposition scream and call ZANU PF to order.

There are two types if detectives which are Private Investigators which are often former police officers, spies, military personnel, bodyguards, and security guards. While many private detectives investigate criminal matters, they are limited to the powers of citizen’s arrest and detention, as they do not have police authority.

Public Detectives – investigate activities related to criminal acts and suspected criminal activity. They fall under the category of public because their salaries come from taxes and government funding.
Law enforcement detectives solve crimes after the fact, and work to prevent the commission of crimes. Public detectives also offer security solutions. Assessing the security measures in place to protect an event or adding technical security for a network.

Detectives sometimes fill in a gap that is outside of the mandate of the the public police force. Undercover operatives remain bound by the laws, regulations and rules governing the respective law enforcement agencies. There is no law which governs what to wear in any situation. This means that Memo Kanhiriri was dressed for the occasion.

Undercover operatives remain bound by respective discipline codes. While no general exemptions are granted to undercover operatives, it is recognised that behaviour in role will of necessity reflect the requirements of an authorised deployment.Undercover operatives have an individual responsibility to ensure that they are conversant with the parameters of the use and conduct of their authority.
Undercover operatives may be required to give evidence in court proceedings about their use and conduct, and about any evidence they obtained during their deployments.
Undercover operatives must not reveal the fact of an undercover role or the detail of any undercover deployments without the express permission of their undercover covert operations manager.

Undercover operatives are bound by the Official Secrets Act and have a duty not to disclose for publication by any means whatsoever, details of any operation or investigation. This includes any information as to methodology or infrastructure of undercover units To go “undercover” (that is, to go on an undercover operation) is to avoid detection by the object of one’s observation, and especially to disguise one’s own identity (or use an assumed identity) for the purposes of gaining the trust of an individual or organization in order to learn or confirm confidential information, or to gain the trust of targeted individuals to gather information or evidence. Undercover operations are traditionally employed by law enforcement agencies and those in such roles are commonly referred to as undercover agents.

The ZRP forces use undercover police officers in a variety of operational deployments. Undercover operations, investigations and missions are inherently dangerous. The use of sworn members in a covert role in an investigation or to keep peace is practical and does not compromise the integrity of the investigation.

The overriding concern in any undercover operation is for the safety of the undercover member. So by nature Undercover Member is a sworn member who is working in plainclothes or dressing which is not uniform and in a covert manner with the goal of making personal contact with another person in a criminal investigation.
Undercover Activities” means any investigative activity involving the use of an assumed name or cover identity by an employee of the ZRP
Under cover means an investigation involving a series of related undercover activities over a period of time by an undercover employee. undercover activities” generally consists of more than three separate contacts by an undercover employee with the individual(s) under investigation.

However, undercover activity involving sensitive or fiscal circumstances constitutes an undercover operation regardless of the number of contacts involved.
Members must abstain from any activity which is likely to interfere with the impartial discharge of duty or likely to give rise to the impression that the activity may do so. Police officers are also required not to take any active part in politics.

While the constraint on political activity does not prevent officers from being members of political parties in general.

So it should be clear that nu putting on regalia of ZANU PF does not mean that the officer is ZANU PF. Those who are busy soiling the beautiful name of Kanhiriri are just blowing dust for no reason. Police officers must be impartial and objective when performing their duties with the public. This does not prevent you from being a member of political parties in general. Since they are allowed to vote it means they can take sides when voting.

Memory is a very professional and educated officer with a masters degree she knows what she does very well.

To go “undercover” is to avoid detection by the object of one’s observation, and especially to disguise one’s own identity for the purposes of gaining the trust of an individual or organization in order Undercover operations are the third special investigative tool included in the Organized Crime. Undercover operations occur where investigators infiltrate criminal networks or pose as offenders to uncover organized crime activity. Kanhiriri fitted in the conference and by her actions a lot of criminal activities were prevented.

There is nothing wrong done by the officer in question.

Putting on ZANU PF regalia does not make you ZANU PF.

Billiat A True Legend

Warriors defenders
Tendayi Darikwa and Alec Mudimu have paid tribute to their former teammate Khama Billiat following his retirement from international football.

Responding to Billiat’s post on Twitter, the Wigan Athletic defender hailed his compatriot as one of the best. Said Darikwa:

One of the best I’ve shared a football pitch with. Well done on achieving a dream, my brother.

Also responding to Billiat’s tweet, Mudimu said it is an honour to have played in the same team Khama Billiat. He wrote:

What an honour to share a pitch with you.

Billiat announced his retirement on Monday through a statement he posted on his social media platforms.

The 32-year-old said he made the decision to pave way for the new generation.

The Kaizer Chiefs forward walks away from the Warriors following a miserable FIFA 2020 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Warriors failed to win a single match after losing to all their opponents, Ghana (twice), South Africa (once) and Ethiopia (once), and drawing the other two games. – Pindula News

Zimsec’s Attempts to Shift Responsibility of Paying Teachers for Invigilation to PSCs

By Dr Takavafira M. Zhou | Zimsec has responded swiftly to our communique dated 15 November over contractual agreement with teachers. In its response Zimsec is shifting responsibility of paying teachers to Public Service Commission.

This is surprising given that the examinations are run by Zimsec as a parastatal. Zimsec’s Alibi is also nauseating given that it is paying item writers and has never referred their payment to PSC.

Security personnel in school centres are also directly paid by Zimsec. Zimsec also pays school heads at collection centres. Why have such payments not been done by PSC. Why does Zimsec pay exam markers?

It is clear that Zimsec is trying to hide behind its finger, and such a trajectory will not augur well with the proper invigilation of exams. Attempts to prevaricate, change goal posts and shift blame elsewhere are ill- conceived, callous and unfortunate.

Such evasiveness and elusiveness, will compound the invigilation process. If the responsibility of running examinations is PSC’s why are Zimsec officials monitoring the process?

Why did PSC fail to compensate Mr Mahara after getting involved in an accident whilst carrying Zimsec exam papers? Lies have short legs, and the earlier Zimsec must learn to engage teacher unions in good faith the better. Zimsec’s decision has certainly thrown the invigilation of examination into a quandary as there is no going back on the decision taken by teachers for a contractual agreement.

Mukanya Heads For Cape Town

By A Correspondent- Chimurenga music icon Thomas Mapfumo will rock Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap Hall this weekend.

The show is the brainchild of Chunala Private Limited and is supported by Rebel Movement and Kels Entertainment.

Mukanya, as Mapfumo is affably known, has been in the country for over a fortnight and has drawn huge crowds at his two previous shows in Johannesburg and Pretoria. The show kicks off at 2pm with an array of artists from both Johannesburg and Cape Town taking turns to entertain. Due to the ongoing curfew the show will end around 11pm, an hour before the official lockdown begins.

Mukanya travelled with his entire Blacks Unlimited ensemble from Johannesburg and he landed in the Mother City last night.

Elcee Gweja will be a guest artist and will share the stage with Paddy Watts and Gameboi. Juggling Captain Pliez and Bento Bodyslam will take turns on the turntables. Another new artist who will perform is Brian Makore making his debut in Cape Town.
Chunala, fronted by Sam Madzonga, is a new kid on the block and was partnered by Kels who have been in the game for years now.

Spokesperson of the organisers Fallon Sankulan aka DJ Firespitter said all is ready for the event as they have secured the services of the best sound system as well as “no-nonsense” private security.
“All the logistics are in place and we expect our Cape Town fans to have a show to remember. It is not always that Mukanya graces these shores and we do not take that for granted,” said Sankulan.
This weekend, Mukanya’s “son” Kurai Makore will have an opportunity to increase his fan base in South Africa after a stellar performance in Johannesburg and Pretoria. He left an impression with his Mukanya-like voice and he has promised he will deliver his best once again.

“We once again promise our old and possibly new fans to come in their numbers for the show. We will not disappoint. We eat music, sleep music, walk music and definitely fans will enjoy themselves,” said Makore.
Organisers are best advised to put in place plans for back up power after power utility Eskom moved the country into loadshedding.

Villager Fined ZW$5 000 For Insulting Chief

Manager Throws Bev Under The Bus

By A Correspondent- Beverly “Bev” Sibanda’s manager for 11 years, has betrayed the dancer resulting in Bev firing him via a text message.

State media reports that Harpers Mapimhidze, Bev’s manager, has been fired.

Zanu PF Admits Officials Abusing Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF has admitted that some party officials and supporters were abusing the party’s logos for their personal gains.

The party’s director of information, Tafadzwa Mugwadi, made the admission to a local online publication.

This follows reports of low-ranking Zanu PF officials and members of the public taking advantage of Zanu PF VVIP stickers and other party insignia to avoid paying tollgate fees and evading police roadblocks.

Some motorists are even inserting dummy number plates inscribed; “Zanu PF” or “ED-PFEE” and party scarves on vehicle dashboards to intimidate law enforcement agents.

Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com on Tuesday, Mugwadi warned motorists against the practice. Said Mugwadi:

As a matter of policy, putting on party regalia or use of it is not a license to intimidate or escape policy issues.

However, the use of regalia demonstrates their love for the party, but we warn them from abusing such because it is against the party policy.

Mugwadi explained that VVIP stickers were not above board since they were only valid during party events. He said:

Stickers written VVIP are not above board and they are not for ordinary members of the party or members of the public.

They are specifically used for Politburo members and people take advantage of them when they are produced during the conference. Those illicitly producing those stickers must stop that forthwith.

The stickers are mostly plastered on top-of-the-range vehicles to intimidate law enforcement agencies, evade police searches.

The MDC Alliance has, however, condemned the abuse of the stickers and vehicle number plates, describing it as an abuse of power by the ruling party.

MDC Alliance deputy national spokesperson Ostallos Siziba told NewZimbabwe.com ZANU PF supporters were abusing power and using state institutions to break the law.

Tsvangirai Home Villagers Denounce Mnangagwa Sanctions Rhetoric

By A Correspondent- The majority of villagers in Buhera believe that the economic challenges bedevilling the country are not because of sanctions but corruption, The Mirror has established.

Buhera is the home to the late opposition MDC founder, Morgan Tsvangirai.

In Buhera anti-sanctions demonstrations were held on 25 October and demonstrators moved from Chain business centre to Murambinda Growth Point where they were led by ZANU PF district leadership.

The United States Government has maintained that sanctions are not against the country but individuals and institutions that rank high in human rights abuses.

Laiton Marambanyika from Marambanyika village under Chief Nyashanu said while sanctions affect individual strategic institutions that are key in economic development, it was corruption by well-connected politicians that have destroyed the economy. He told The Mirror:

Connected people in government and outside have formed cartels that are stealing from government and this will take time to break.

Edwin Gamanya who stays at Murambinda Growth Point said mismanagement of the country’s resources and political patronage are contributing to economic decay.

Winmore Mafuruse, a sex worker at the growth point said they were forced to demonstrate but they believed the issue of sanctions was mere rhetoric. She said:

It’s a rhetoric mantra. It is corruption that has taken us to this point and clients are no longer paying as they used to do.

Economist Andrew Muchingami told The Mirror that the sanctions mantra is a scapegoat to hide misgovernance, corruption and incompetency by individuals in government.

However, ZANU PF activist, Tandirai Mugadza said sanctions were real and hurting the economy and therefore should be removed unconditionally.

Chamisa Targets 0.5 Million Votes In Bulawayo

Shock As Doves “Buries” Two Bodies In One Coffin

Police on Wednesday exhumed two bodies buried in one grave at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery in Harare hoping to get to the bottom of the Doves Funeral Services (DFS) “empty coffin” mystery.

What’s Next After Dismissal Of ZIFA Board?

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) says it is hoping to get Fifa’s support after dissolving the Zifa board yesterday for alleged incompetence.

Following the dissolution of the Zifa board, there was public outcry over a possible ban by Fifa which would consequently see the Warriors losing their place at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon in January.

While acknowledging that there was a great risk of sanctions, SRC is praying for Fifa’s support.

The SRC also said it was ready to face any consequences if Fifa were to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe over government interference in football matters.

SRC chairperson Gerald Mlotshwa told journalists that losing the Afcon slot could be one of the sacrifices needed as the commission cleans up local football.

He said SRC was looking at putting in place structures that would bar Felton Kamambo and his Zifa team from being voted back into office.

SRC, a government arm, is hoping to complete its clean-up and facilitation of holding of elections within the next two years.

Fifa sanctions would see the world governing body closing financial tapes as well as ban national teams from taking part in football events on the international scene.

But SRC insisted that it did its homework before coming up with such a drastic decision.

“Insofar as Zifa is concerned, we have done the necessary consultations. We are prepared for whatever might happen. If Fifa decides to ban Zimbabwean football, we are prepared. We have planned for that. If that happens we look at it as being a short-term measure. I think Zimbabwean football needs this space and this opportunity to fix itself. If that takes us a year, if it takes us two years and we are out of the international football scene, that is fine, everyone accepts that. If we are suspended from Afcon next year, that is okay. Believe me, we are prepared for that,” Mlotshwa said in response to questions from journalists.

SRC board member Karen Mutasa reinforced Mlotshwa’s point, saying the SRC was hoping for a favourable response from Fifa.

“We anticipate that it is possible that we will be banned, but we hope they (Fifa) will co-operate with us to build the game,” Mutasa said. “Who knows they (Fifa) might actually be supportive and we pray and we hope for that.”

SRC said it had suspended the Zifa board over, among others, misappropriation of funds, failure to deal with issues of sexual harassment raised against some of the top officials, failure to address gender imbalances in the game and lack of a developmental plan for the game.

“SRC hereby informs the public that upon extensive consultations and further deliberations on matters relating to the governance and management of football in Zimbabwe, the SRC board has with immediate effect suspended the Zifa board in accordance with the SRC Act,” part of the SRC statement read. “This decision has been considered following several incidents of gross incompetence on the part of Zifa, such conduct and/or omissions being contrary to the national interest, as provided for in terms of section 30(i)(c) of the SRC Act.

“For purposes of clarity, section 30 of the SRC Act states that: (1) Where the board considers that any registered national association (c) has conducted itself in a manner which is contrary to national interest; the board may, after affording the association concerned an opportunity of making representations in the matter, do either or both of the following: (i) suspend all or (ii) any of its officers.”

Mlotshwa said the commission already had a list of individuals that it recommended to Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation minister Kirsty Coventry for the interim committee to run the affairs of Zifa until a new board is elected. He added that the commission considered the plight of the players who worked hard to play at the Afcon showcase, but concluded that it could not delay the suspension.

“I think let us look at it this way, the decision made by the board is in the national interest. I understand that there is the individual aspect. But if we were to apply that criterion, we would never have the right time. Our collective decision was to say let us bite the bullet, let us deal with this once and for all. We needed to act, never mind the individual disappointments, that is the sacrifice that people have to make.”- NewsDay

2023 Polls: Young People People Urged To Vote In Numbers

Tinashe Sambiri|Team Pachedu has implored all young people to register to vote to ensure victory for the alternative over the current regime.

By failing to register to vote, young people are endorsing the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa, according to Team Pachedu.

“The population of young Zimbabweans aged 18-35 years is greater than those above 35 years.

However, the number of registered voters aged above 35 years is more than the number of young voters.

Youths, we are sabotaging ourselves.

Let’s register to vote,” said Team Pachedu in a statement on Twitter.

17 November 2017: Will Collaborators And Aiders Honour Up?

By Pride Mkono_One of the most striking features of Zimbabwe’s national crisis is impunity and complete lack of accountability. This has a long history but I will just hazard a few.

The atrocities and excesses of the liberation struggle period have remain closed forever in the closet of ‘reconciliation.’ No one knows to this day who killed Chairman Chitepo, who ordered hits on Nyadzonia and Chimoio among many other painful episodes which surely deserve closure.

Penalty Awarded To Warriors Was Unfair Too- Ghana

Ghana Football Association Head of Communications Henry Asante Twum believes the penalty awarded to Zimbabwe when the two sides met in Cape Coast last month, was a ‘bad call.’

Knox Mutizwa was brought down in the box early in the second half with Ghana leading 1-0 and captain Knowledge Musona stepped up to restore parity for Zimbabwe.

Asante Twum, discussing the controversial penalty awarded to the Black Stars in the decisive game against South Africa, made reference to the spot kick awarded to Zimbabwe, in claiming some decisions have gone against Milovan Rajevac’s side but they have kept quiet.

“I think the referee on the day (against South Africa), was okay. We have been to places where officiating has not gone our way. But we did not even comment,” said Asante Twum.

“For instance, the game we played against Ethiopia, there were certain bad calls from the referee.”

“When we played against Zimbabwe here in Cape Coast, there were also some bad calls, and a penalty was even awarded against us,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Chaos As Referees Boycott Matches

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 2 has been postponed after referees withdrew from officiating the games.

Five games were lined up on Tuesday, but no referee turned for the matches.

The withdrawal comes after SRC suspended the ZIFA board, led by Felton Kamambo, on Tuesday.

ZIFA’s Referee Committee appoints the matchday officials.

A statement by the PSL reads: “This serves to advise that all the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match-day Two fixtures scheduled for this week have been postponed.

“This has been necessitated by the non-appearance of match officials at all the match venues today.

“However, some of the match officials had travelled from various parts of the country and had logged in for team inspections only to withdraw their services before commencement of team warm-ups.

“The PSL is concerned about the lack of communication from the ZIFA Referees Committee as we tried to engage them on the matter to no avail.

“We however hope that a solution will be reached soon. We will update on any further developments.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

FIFA Probes Ghana, SA Match

FIFA has started investigating the conduct of referee Maguette Ndiaye in the World Cup qualifier between Ghana and South Africa played on Sunday.

The match was marred by bad officiating that fell against the Bafana Bafana side, who went on to lose the game 1-0.

The result saw South Africa failing to progress to the playoffs of the qualifiers.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) then made an official complaint about the “questionable decisions” made by the Ndiaye.

In response, FIFA has acknowledged the receipt of complaint and said that they will investigate the referee’s performance in the game.

The world football governing body said: “FIFA has received a complaint from the South African FA in relation to this matter and will review it. Please understand we cannot comment further at this stage.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Diabetes

The problems

We have greater knowledge than ever before about how to prevent and treat diabetes yet the number of people with diabetes is growing rapidly and the lack of access to diagnosis and treatment is causing unnecessary suffering and death, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

More than 420 million people have diabetes.

Th number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980 and is expected to rise beyond half a billion by the end of the decade.

Court brands Matsika “A Fraudster”

Farai Matsika

By A Correspondent| Businessman Farai Matsika tried to use fraudulent means to wrestle Croco Motors from its rightful owner Moses Chingwena, the Supreme Court has ruled.

Supreme Court judge, Justice Chinembiri Bhunu in his judgment said High Court judge, Justice Owen Tagu cannot be faulted for coming up with that ruling since Matsika had put nothing before the courts to support his ownership claims.

Justice Bhunu ruled it was Matsika’s obligation to convince the court, but it was clear he submitted doctored documents which made it difficult for both courts to believe him.

He has been fighting with his former partner and cousin Chingwena over the control of Croco Holdings which the latter spent over two decades building.

In an earlier ruling, High Court judge Justice Owen Tagu had accused him of trying to grab the company through the back door, an argument upheld by Justice Chinembiri Bhunu with costs.Justice Bhunu also blasted Matsika and his lawyers for incompetency.

“In the final analysis no-fault or misdirection can be laid at the learned judge a quo’s door in his treatment of the substantive issues and verdict,” Justice Bhunu said.

“In view of Matsika’s deplorable unbecoming behaviour in manufacturing fraudulent documents to deceive the court, costs at the punitive scale were eminently deserved in the court a quo.

In the current proceedings before me, there is no reason for departure from the general rule that costs follow the result.“In the final analysis I hold that the appellants have no reasonable prospects of success on appeal.

It is accordingly ordered that the application for condonation of late noting of appeal and extension of time within which to make an appeal be and is hereby dismissed with costs,” he ruled.

“This is, therefore, a proper case where the naivety of the applicants’ lawyers was properly visited on their clients as the applicants were not entirely free from blame.”

Matsika, had in his Supreme Court appeal, complained Justice Tagu had made some errors in concluding he had sought to grab the company through the back door.

Matsika sought the setting aside of the High Court ruling and demanded a forensic audit and valuation of Croco Holdings and 39 other entities.

Matsika claimed he had built the Croco business empire for 26 years while his cousin Chingwena was working at LCZ, Century Bank, and Discount House, which he added are failed companies.

However, Chingwena argued that Matsika failed to place before the court evidence showing how he secured the 30% stake in the vehicle sale company.

While Matsika had claimed that Phibeon Gwatidzo of Baker Tilly Gwatidzo Chartered Accountants was the shares transferring secretary in 2006, it emerged through Gwatidzo’s secretary that the accounting firm was not yet in existence at the time.

Young People Sabotaging Themselves By Failing To Register To Vote

Tinashe Sambiri|Team Pachedu has implored all young people to register to vote to ensure victory for the alternative over the current regime.

By failing to register to vote, young people are endorsing the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa, according to Team Pachedu.

However, the number of registered voters aged above 35 years is more than the number of young voters.

ZIFA Turmoil A Direct Result Of Mnangagwa’s Ineptitude

Tinashe Sambiri|The chaos rocking ZIFA is a direct result of the Zanu PF regime’s gross incompetence, an MDC Alliance official has said.

Writing on Twitter, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma accused Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration of neglecting matters related to football development in the country.

Chuma argued:
It’s turmoil everywhere! The rot in ZIFA is just a micro of the macro.

This stinking rottenness is a pure reflection of the country under @edmnangagwa. What has the govt done to support football development? Busy hiring million dollar jets for ED to address empty chairs. #NHM (https://twitter.com/chumasteve/status/1460658317177589762?s=20)

Zim Faces Suspension From AFCON As SRC Dissolves ZIFA Board

Doves Funeral Body Mix-up Exhumed

By A Correspondent- Police detectives watched as Doves funeral undertakers carefully dug up a coffin at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery, which they opened to reveal two bodies.
