Doves Funeral Body Mix-up Exhumed

By A Correspondent- Police detectives watched as Doves funeral undertakers carefully dug up a coffin at Granville Mbudzi Cemetery, which they opened to reveal two bodies.

One of those bodies is believed to be that of Chimwamurombe, who died in March in a drowning incident in Mutoko and was supposedly buried in Nyanga.

The coffin was loaded onto the back of a police Ford Ranger and driven to the Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary.

Forensic experts are expected to extract DNA samples from the body in the hope of identifying the individual buried alongside the pauper.

A Doves spokesman declined to comment, referring ZimLive to a statement issued in October, in which the company said it is “committed to a full investigation of the matter to bring it to completion.”

Sources told ZimLive that a driver who was supposed to be ferrying Chimwamurombe’s body became aware that the coffin was empty during burial at a village in Nyanga.

The driver reportedly informed one of the senior managers at Doves after the burial, but the manager did not take any action.

Instead, Doves is believed to have taken Chimwamurombe’s remains and placed them in the same coffin as a dead man whose body was given to Doves by the department of social welfare to conduct a pauper’s burial.

Chimwamurombe’s family has demanded compensation from Doves.

Police are expected to conduct the second exhumation in Nyanga, to confirm that a coffin was buried without a body.

Student Leader Allan Moyo Arrested And Released

By A Correspondent| Police Wednesday morning arrested student leader Allan Moyo over an already revoked warrant of arrest, in what suggests of the government’s panic mode over the ongoing re-organisation of the pro-opposition forces.

According to Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), Moyo was taken to Harare Central police station before being released without charge.

“Cde @moyoalan has been released. @PoliceZimbabwe were citing a warrant of arrest from 10 September which was revoked way back,” said ARTUZ in a Twitter post.

One Of Mnangagwa’s Boys Impregnates Wife’s Sister

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s boys and Affirmative Action Group President, Mike Chimombe has reportedly impregnated his wife’s sister, Panashe Rusero.

Details of his adulterous shenanigans came to light after Panashe hosted a baby shower.

Cozy pictures of Chimombe and Panashe at the baby shower then started circulating on social media.

Sources close to the family, who chose anonymity confirmed the affair.

“Mike started living with Mitchell (his wife) when Panashe was still in Form 2-3, that is in 2009-2010, so when she was now in Lower 6 Panashe would go stay at her elder sister’s house,” the source said.

“So when she was now staying with them, Mike would go to clubs at night with Panashe and that time we started noticing that something was happening between the two of them.

“Mike would take her to Pablos and Motor Action at that time so we found it every odd.

“There is this one particular incident whereby Mike came back from the club with Panashe at around 5am and Mike’s in-laws convened a family meeting in regards to the issue that he was dating his wife’s sister but both Panashe and Chimombe denied the allegations.”

Byo Man Jailed 15 Days For Insulting Chief

By A Correspondent- 58 year old Samuel Hove from Magwegwe in Bulawayo has been sentenced to 15 days in jail with an option to pay a fine of ZWL$5 000 after he insulted and threatened a chief.

Hove pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mberengwa Resident Magistrate Caroline Tafira Nyoni on Thursday for contravening Section 48 of the Traditional Leaders Act after he sent an offensive message to Andrew Bvute (67) who is Chief Bvute.

Hove and Chief Bvute are related as the former is a son to the latter’s brother.

The State led by Matidaishe Pavazhira alleged that on 2 July 2021 Hove obstructed, hindered or interfered with a chief in the discharge of his duties.

On the day in question at 11.36 AM, Bvute received a text message from Hove which was abusive and threatening. The message read:

Ndini ndakakuita ishe kana une nharo hariperi gore rino uri chief Bvute, Hatibhejerane kana uchida (I’m the one who made you a Chief. You will lose your chieftaincy before the end of the year if you are headstrong).

Bvute reported the matter at ZRP Mberengwa. He said that he was now feared for his life.

Govt Plans To Arrest Biti Over Sanctions Campaign Not Supported By Law

A senior official in the Justice ministry, Patience Dhokwani yesterday told Parliament that Zimbabwe had no law to penalise citizens for soliciting for imposition of sanctions on the country.

Dhokwani appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs chaired by Webster Shamu to give oral evidence in response to a petition by the Zimbabwe Anti Sanctions Trust, which asked Parliament to enact laws that criminalise calling for imposition of sanctions on the country.

The ruling Zanu PF party recently proposed the crafting of a Patriotic Bill, to criminalise calling for sanctions among other issues.

Dhokwani said her ministry was concerned that there were some citizens who were calling for sanctions, showing that they did not have the interests of the nation at heart.

“These actions are aimed at discrediting government efforts to promote and protect the national interest, including Zimbabwe’s foreign relations and policy agenda,” Dhokwani said.

“What is there in our law is the lacuna (gap) that we discovered, that is, the failure of current legal systems to have provisions  that criminalise the unauthorised communication or negotiations by private citizens with foreign governments that have a direct or indirect implication of Zimbabwe foreign relations and policy.

“There is no law — whether statutory law or common law that provides for the regulation of this area of citizen endeavour.  Our law has a lacuna when it comes to private citizens with foreign relations.

“We have to develop that if we are to criminalise these acts, there are repercussions that will follow if one acts against what is in the Act.  We thought that this proposed law will try to cover the gap that is in existence, “she said.

Dhokwani said if enacted, she did not think that the proposed Patriotic Bill would not tamper with the freedom of expression of persons as guaranteed by the Constitution.

Prof Moyo Tears Into “Intellectual Coward” Trevor Ncube

By A Correspondent- Exiled former government minister Jonathan Moyo has called Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) chairman Trevor Ncube an intellectual coward and a fake champion of freedom of expression.

AMH publishes NewsDay, Zimbabwe Independent, The Standard and Weekly Digest and also runs an online radio and television station, Heart & Soul TV.

Moyo went on Twitter to post messages where Trevor Ncube ‘confirmed’ that Savior Kasukuwere and Moyo had been “picked up from President Mugabe’s ‘Blue Roof residence to KGVI Military Barracks’.

This time four years ago, Trevor Ncube had triumphantly & emphatically “confirmed” that @Hon_Kasukuwere & I had been “picked up from President Mugabe’s ‘Blue Roof residence to KGVI Military Barracks'”; from where he apparently hoped we would not come out alive!” posted Moyo.

Victory For Madawo Faction

By A Correspondent- A pastor from a rival faction of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM), Panganai Makarichi, has won a High Court case where he was being sued by the Amon Madawo-led group for refusing to surrender a church vehicle following an acrimonious split of the church.

In his application, Madawo had also sought to evict Makarichi from the church premises.

But yesterday, High Court judge Justice Jacob Mafusire ruled in favour of Makarichi following a default judgment after Madawo’s faction failed to oppose his application for a declarator on time.

Justice Mafusire said Makarichi had been declared the legal owner of an Isuzu KB 330 double-cab vehicle.

The Madawo camp, through its elder Freddie Kabungaidze of Living Word Tabernacle Assembly, said it would appeal the High Court judgment. Kabungaidze said the order was granted due to a technicality in favour of Makarichi.

“Respondent is not entitled to the declarator that he seeks in his application,” Kabungaidze
submitted.

Makarichi argued that he had sold his personal car to secure a deposit for the Isuzu truck.

He also argued that AFM Zimbabwe owed him outstanding salaries, adding that there was a standing resolution to give him the
vehicle.

Makarichi was expelled from the church following accusations of plotting a coup against Madawo, who was declared the legitimate leader of the church recently by the Supreme Court.

Lifting Sanctions Must Not Benefit “Those Who Steal” ED Acolytes Told To Their Faces – Still, They Did Not Hear

By Patrick Guramatunhu- Zanu PF leaders and their acolytes know that sanctions are not the root cause of the country’s economic meltdown and yet they continue to promote this false narrative purely for propaganda purposes.

They are clearly leaving no stone unturned to their drive to keep sanctions on the Zimbabwe agenda at home and abroad.

“The present sanctions are crippling the poor,” Andrew Wutawunashe, told the Head of Church of England, Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

“Even now, we had the UN [United Nations] rapporteur who came and confirmed the same, investigated everything and discovered that the sanctions are actually doing the same, destroying infrastructure that is supposed to be for the poor and common people and destroying employment.

“Now we are requesting your voices and we felt in particular that your voice, if you are able to make a request you would help us, you would help political powers that be to have a bit of conscience for the suffering of the poor.”

Wutawunashe was part of a high powered delegation of church leaders including Roman Catholic priest Father Fidelis Mukonori (Mugabe’s priest), Zion Christian Church leader and patron of the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches, Bishop Nehimiah Mutendi.

The church leaders had reportedly accompanied President Mnangagwa on his high power, 100 strong, COP26 Summit in Glasgow. The tyrant and his church leaders acolytes had more pressing matters than the green house gases on their minds – keeping sanctions on everyone lips talking about Zimbabwe!

Zimbabwe will reduce her emission of green houses by 40% by 2030 “if the restrictive sanctions are lifted”, President Mnangagwa announced to the world.

“Thank you very much. This is very, very important. I will obviously read this later today. I will discuss it with people here and see how we can advocate for the poorest while ensuring that those who steal from the country what is not theirs, be themselves not the beneficiaries (and) don’t benefit from the relief of the sanctions,” responded the Archbishop of Canterbury.

A little research by the Church of England staff would reveal that many of these church leaders masquerading as “men and women of the cloth deeply concerned about the plight of the poorest of the poor in Zimbabwe” are in fact among the principle beneficiaries of the wholesale looting in Zimbabwe – the principle cause of the country’s serious economic meltdown. And thus they are an integral part of Zimbabwe’s filthy rich and power ruling elite with an invested interest in resisting free, fair and credible elections – prologue of regime change – at all cost.

The UN rapporteur did indeed visit Zimbabwe to investigate the effects of sanctions and she dismissed sanctions as “advocacy tool” used draw attention away from the real causes. The church leaders, like Mnangagwa and the rest, are now cherry picking; they are taking the very fact that she visited as confirmed sanctions are the root cause of the economic meltdown and ignore what she said.

No doubt, the church leaders will take the Archbishop’s acceptance of their petition as public endorsement sanctions are the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. Bishop Nehimiah Mutendi and company heard the bit about “those who steal from the country what is not theirs” will not benefit from the lifting of sanctions but will completely ignore it.

The primary objective of Zanu PF and its acolytes is to keep sanctions on the Zimbabwe agenda. As long as people are talking about sanctions; they are not talking about corruption, mismanagement and rigged elections – the real issues Zimbabwean want to talk about.

After 41 years of tyrannical rule that has all but destroyed the Zimbabwe economy and left millions desperately poor, powerless and helpless. It is disappointing that the UN, the Church of England and many other institutions have allowed themselves to be conned into discussing such issues as sanctions and thus giving the Zanu PF false narrative mileage.

The sanctions are one of the few tools helping the voiceless ordinary Zimbabweans pressure the Zanu PF ruling elite to implement democratic reforms and thus end the corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF rule.

Sanctions are not the real cause of the economic meltdown; rampant corruption and gross mismanagement are; and therefore sanctions must stay.

Marry Chiwenga “Caged” Pending Medical Examination

By A Correspondent- Harare magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube yesterday remanded Marry Mubaiwa in custody for 10 days at the Harare Remand Prison pending medical examinations by two Government doctors to ascertain whether or not she is mentally fit to stand trial.

Mubaiwa is facing a number of criminal allegations including attempting to kill her ex-husband Vice President Constantino Chiwenga during the time he was admitted in a South African hospital.

Mr Ncube ruled that Mubaiwa will be in the custody of the officer-in-charge at Harare Remand Prison during her stay pending medical examinations and said the examinations should be completed within 10 days.

Mubaiwa appeared in court yesterday on charges of contravening the Marriage Act after she allegedly lied that VP Chiwenga had consented to legally marry her during the time he was ill and made extensive arrangements for the ceremony.

The matter was supposed to go for trial, but she told the court that she was not fit for trial.

The court then ordered that she be examined by doctors to ascertain whether she was unwell to comprehend trial proceedings or not.

Three medical practitioners examined her, with two physicians saying Mubaiwa was physically fit to stand trial while a psychiatrist told the court that she was suffering from depression and anxiety, rendering her unfit to stand trial.

Faced with conflicting positions on Mubaiwa’s mental status, the State led by Mr Michael Reza applied that they proceed under Section 26 of the Mental Health Act, which requires that accused be examined by two Government doctors.

Mubaiwa, through her lawyer Ms Beatrice Mtetwa, opposed the application and instead applied for the temporary release of her passport, saying she wanted to travel to South Africa and India for treatment.

“An order was made by regional magistrate Mr (Noel) Mupeiwa that Mubaiwa should be examined by a doctor in order to assess if she was mentally fit to stand trial.

She was duly examined by Dr SP Machawira who made his findings.

“However, his examination was mainly concentrated on the physical aspect and there was no mental examination that was done to assess the accused’s mental status on whether or not she was fit to stand trial,” said Mr Ncube.

“His findings and oral evidence could not assist the court to make a decision whether or not the accused was fit to stand trial. I then ordered that another examination of the accused be done by another doctor who should assess and give their opinion on the mental effects of the drugs which the accused was taking as shown in the medical report that was done on October 1.

“The doctor was also supposed to indicate whether or not the accused was fit to stand trial. Dr C Nyamukachi, a specialist physician did another physical examination of the accused which was contrary to the court order. This physical examination of the accused was not necessary as the court had directed that a mental status examination be done.

“The same report could not assist the court as indicated. The doctor stated that he had not had sight of the court order as it was not availed to him. He stated that he examined the accused based on a letter from the clinical director.”

Mr Ncube said Dr C Nyamukachi submitted that during his examination of Mubaiwa, he then roped in a psychiatrist who examined her to assess her mental status.

“The accused was then examined by Dr Fungisai Makombe Simone Mazhandu who is a psychiatrist,” he said.

“Her findings were that the accused has a mental disorder, which is major depressive disorder with comorbid anxiety disorder.

“She also gave oral evidence confirming that. She stated that the accused was not fit to stand trial. So, as it stands, it is not in dispute that the psychiatrist’s findings are that the accused has a mental disorder and cannot stand trial.”

Mr Ncube said the testimony of the psychiatrist pointed that there was need for further examination and that her medical report indicated that Mubaiwa had a mental disorder, which called for further examinations.

“The court will direct that two medical practitioners should examine the accused and enquire into her mental state,” he said.

“For the purposes of that medical examination, the accused shall be in the custody of the officer-in-charge Harare Remand Prison.”

Mubaiwa is expected back in court on Friday next week.

CIOs In Soup As DJ Plays MDC Alliance Song In The Presence Of VP Chiwenga

By A Correspondent- State security details, on duty at a government function in Chikomba, are reported to be in trouble after a disc jockey mistakenly played an MDC Alliance song in the presence of Constantino Chiwenga.

Chiwenga, who also doubles as the Health Minister, was the guest-of-honour at the event where he officially opened a rural clinic in Chikomba West.

Chiwenga’s deputy in the Health Ministry, John Mangwiro, is the MP for the constituency, which is in Mashonaland East, a province the VP also hails from.

However, the DJ disturbed the smooth proceedings of the event after he played ‘Handicheuke’ by opposition activist Paul Madzore, a former Glen View South MP.

Reports say as soon as the song started playing hundreds of villagers gathered took the dance floor humiliating senior government and Zanu-PF officials present.

Several Zanu-PF linked associations also confirmed the mishap.

“Drama as music DJ mistakenly plays an MDC Alliance song by Paul Madzore at a Zanu-PF rally, which was being officiated by VP Chiwenga in Chivhu. And the whole crowd burst with joy dancing to the tune humiliating the officials,” Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association (COZWVA) wrote on Twitter.

Government sources told NewZimbabwe.com Tuesday that state security agents present at the event, including soldiers, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives, and police officers were being interrogated by their superiors over why the incident had transpired.

A senior military officer is reported to have fumed: “How could that be allowed to happen? I want the names of all those members of the security forces who were present now.”

“They need to be investigated, especially the Director Military Intelligence (DMI) who was responsible for inspection.”

After the Chikomba West clinic fiasco, Chiwenga travelled the same day to Chivhu General Hospital where he launched the country’s first School of Accidents and Emergency Nursing at the medical facility.

Gvt To Construct Over 140 Modern Boarding Schools

By A Correspondent- Government will construct 144 modern boarding schools countrywide next year to mitigate against the shortage of learning institutions.

The boarding schools will be built in each of the country’s 72 districts.

In some instances, some existing schools will be transformed into low-cost boarding schools.

The country has a deficit of 3 000 schools and boarding schools are overwhelmed with enrolments which has seen only 0,5 percent of learners being enrolled in secondary boarding schools.

To address this problem, Cabinet yesterday resolved that more Government boarding schools be constructed in the country.

This follows a report tabled by Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Professor Paul Mavima who is the chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on Social Services and Poverty Eradication.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told a post Cabinet media briefing that the schools will cater for increased demand.

“To cater for the increase in demand for both primary and secondary education and ensure that no child walks more than 5 km to school, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education intends to build 3 000 new schools by 2025,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

“During implementation of the project, more secondary than primary boarding schools will be constructed in an endeavour to satisfy increased demand. Some existing day schools will be converted into boarding schools, while some low-cost boarding facilities will be constructed at existing schools as the need arises.

The project will be implemented in phases next year starting with 144 model 21st century Government primary and secondary boarding schools spread across all the country’s 10 provinces.”

She said one primary and one secondary boarding school with adequate state-of-the-art facilities will be constructed in each of the 72 districts of the country.

Minister Mutsvangwa said the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development will fund the construction of the first 144 schools.

She said Government will engage public-private partnership for the construction of the deficit 3000 schools.

“Adequate furniture and Information Communication Technology equipment will be procured for each school, while a source of clean potable water will be installed within 500 metres of the school and including a reticulation system and ablution facilities. Each school will be electrified and provided with internet facilities,” she said.

“The school will be fenced, and civil works in terms of access roads, a car park and landscaping will be undertaken. Each school will have enough land for sport infrastructure, commercial farming and manufacturing.”

Minister Mutsvangwa said a lot of learners are failing to get enrolled in boarding schools.

This resulted in Government introducing an online recruitment exercise for prospective boarders to curb the possibility of corrupt allocation of slots to undeserving learners.

“Currently, there are 9 778 schools, with 6 798 primary and 2 980 being secondary schools, and a total enrolment of 4 659  993.

Only 1,9 percent of the 6 798 primary schools are boarding schools, with only 35 of these being Government owned. Of the 2 980 secondary schools, only 10,6 percent are boarding schools and only 60 are owned by Government.

The boarding secondary schools can only accommodate 24 000 learners, a mere 0,52 percent of the current enrolment,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

She said at least 37,3 percent of the country’s population is estimated to be school-going age hence the need to invest in building more schools.

Minister Mutsvangwa said the situation has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“More schools are needed to accommodate the projected increase to 5 657 412 for the school-going age group. The Covid-19 pandemic has also increased the demand for new schools and additional school infrastructure so as to decongest existing boarding schools,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Meanwhile, Cabinet extended the national lockdown by a further two weeks while encouraging citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect the nation against a possible 4th wave of the pandemic.-statemedia

“Why Is Zanu PF Afraid Of NGOs?” Asked Reeler – No, Ask Why Is MDC Participating In Rigged Elections?

By Nomusa Garikai- “In the wake of the landslide victory for the opposition in the recent Zambian election, Zanu-PF must be concerned about what might happen in the 2023 elections,” wrote Tony Reeler, co-convener of the Platform for Concerned Citizens, in New Zimbabwe.

“In Zambia, a united front to prevent electoral manipulation was hugely successful and the combined force of civil society and the opposition political parties delivered a massive victory for democracy.

“It takes some stretch of the imagination to believe that non-government organisations (NGOs) in Zimbabwe are likely to support terrorism, but rather less to see that the government fears financial support to political parties by NGOs.

“The proposed amendments to the Private Voluntary Organisations (PVO) Act reflects how deeply the Zanu-PF government fears its citizens.”

Mr Reeler knows that Zanu PF has always controlled the activities of the GNOs; all aid and assistance in Zimbabwe must be distributed through the party structures or not at all. Only Zanu PF is allowed to do anything to improve the people’s lives and the party guards that right very jealously; more so during elections. And so the proposed amendment is not a surprise to anyone.

Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms that would have ended all these Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The task of implementing the reforms was entrusted to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends. They failed to get even one token reform implemented in five years. Not even one!

SADC leaders and anybody with half a working brain have argued that elections should be postponed until reforms are implemented.  “If you go into the elections next month, you will lose. The elections are done!” SADC leaders warned Tsvangirai and company at the June 2013 SADC Summit, according to Dr Ibbo Mandaza, SAPES Director. Mr Reeler knows Dr Mandaza very well, he is co-convener of the Platform for Concerned Citizens.

As we all know MDC leaders ignored SADC leaders’ warning and participated in the 2013 elections and again in the 2018 elections which Zanu PF blatantly rigged as predicted. MDC leaders are all gearing to participate in the 2023 elections with not even a token reform implemented.

By participating in these flawed and illegal elections, the MDC are giving credibility to the elections process and, by extension, giving legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF regime.

“In Zimbabwe, the most trusted institutions for citizens are NGOs, according to a recent Afrobarometer survey. By contrast, most government institutions, political figures and political parties fare poorly. For example, 79% of Zimbabweans trust NGOs “somewhat” or “a lot”, but only 48% similarly trust the president, and only 38% trust the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC),” continued Mr Reeler.

“So, why does the government not trust NGOs?”

A rhetorical question, since Mr Reeler has already answered the question: Zanu PF is rigging these elections and using food and all aid as one way of buying votes. The party has reduced many Zimbabweans, especially in the rural areas, into medieval serfs dependent on handouts from overbearing Zanu PF landlords. The party operatives often back their demands with intimidation, harassment, beatings, rape, abduction and even cold blooded murder, if need be.

The elephant in the room in Zimbabwe’s politics is MDC. We must finally ask Chamisa and his MDC friends why they failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU?

Why, against repeated advice not to participate in the elections without first implementing the reforms, they are the ones stubbornly insisting on participating? And only to give give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy?

Soweto Man Found With Female Body Parts In Fridge

By A Correspondent- A Soweto man arrested at the weekend following the discovery of various female body parts stashed inside his refrigerator made his first court appearance on Monday.
Flavio Hlabangwane, 26, appeared at the Protea Magistrates Court facing a charge of murder.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA’s) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said Hlabangwane was remanded in custody at Moroka police station until 22 November for further investigations to continue.
Mjonondwane said Hlabangwane also wanted to apply for legal representation with Legal Aid South Africa.
According to Gauteng police, his girlfriend made the gruesome discovery on Saturday and called for help from neighbours after he left her on her own to go to the shops to buy food.

An off-duty police officer staying in the Protea Glen area responded to the incident and called for backup.
Police said when they tried to arrest Hlabangwane, he stabbed himself with a knife in an attempt to take his own life. He was rushed to hospital and kept under police guard before appearing in court.
Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela said the body parts were sent to the forensic science laboratory for identification.
“Investigations are continuing. We’ve summoned all the specialised units of the South African Police Service [Saps] to comb the scene and collect all the evidence.

Chitungwiza Kids Die In Car Boot

By A Correspondent- Two Chitungwiza children died in a car boot when they were left alone at home as their guardians had gone to church on Sunday.

The duo of Samantha Rufaro Masunda, 6, and Saine Murindi, 5, who are cousins met their fate after they locked themselves in the trunk of a Mazda Aveiro and failed to open.

A sombre atmosphere engulfed the kids’ homestead yesterday as some family members were still trying to come to terms with the tragic death of Shaine and Samantha who were doing Grade 1 and 2, respectively.

Samantha and Shaine were staying with their aunt – a sister to their parents.

The two’s parents are brother and sister and yesterday were on their way from South Africa to attend their children’s funeral.

A source close to the on-goings said the aunt whose name could not be availed went to church in the morning leaving the children alone at home.
“It seems these two children were playing and bathed before going to play in the car.
“How they ended up in the boot is a mystery.

“Maybe they locked themselves in there as they played,” said the source.
The source said when the aunt returned from church she could not find the children prompting her and other family members to look for them.
“The search party went on till around 5pm when some suggested that they look into the car trunk which they did and found the lifeless bodies of Samantha and Shaine.
“We are hurt,” said the source.

The two infants’ uncle referred all communication to the deceased children’s parents who are still on the South African side on their way to attend the funeral.
Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were investigating the case.
“Police are investigating a sad story whereby two kids were found dead in the boot of a Mazda Aveiro.

“They had been left by their aunt around 8am as she went to church.
“On her return she could not locate them and then with neighbours and other family members, they looked for the children who they found around 5pm dead in the car boot.
“As police we urge parents and guardians to ensure that whenever they leave homes, children are safe,” he said.

Prophet T Freddy In Another S*x Scandal

By A Correspondent-It never rains but pours for Harare preacher Prophet T Freddy as the police open a rape investigation after a local woman had claimed that the controversial man of God attacked her.

The Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder, 39, allegedly forced himself on the 33-year-old woman on several occasions after her husband died in 2019.

The alleged victim, who made a police report on November 13, told investigators she delayed reporting the attacks which began in 2020 out of fear of Freddy, a man of means who has a large following.

An internal police memo seen by ZimLive said the woman has been referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for a medical examination, with Freddy expected to be picked up for questioning this week.

The woman told police that sometime in November 2019, her husband fell ill and she sought “spiritual assistance” from Freddy. After prayers, the man’s health did not improve. The police memo says:
The accused person (Freddy) invited complainant to his workplace and gave her US$2,500 to ferry her husband to Karanda Hospital for medical attention. However, barely a week later, complainant’s husband died in hospital and the accused person offered assistance towards the burial.

The woman told police that months later, but in 2020, Freddy proposed love to her and she turned him down.
Freddy asked the woman if he could visit her son in the rural areas, to which she agreed. He returned to Harare with the son, arriving at the woman’s Mt Pleasant Heights home in the evening.
The self-styled prophet allegedly told the woman that it was late and asked to stay the night.
It is alleged that Freddy slept on the woman’s bed while she sat on a chair. Moments later, he allegedly went over to her, “forcefully lifted her and placed her on the bed” before raping her without using protection.
It is alleged the preacher repeated the visits to the woman’s residence and raped her each time.

Freddy denies rape and says his accuser was trying to extort him.

ZIFA Board Incompetent

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) says it is hoping to get Fifa’s support after dissolving the Zifa board yesterday for alleged incompetence.

Following the dissolution of the Zifa board, there was public outcry over a possible ban by Fifa which would consequently see the Warriors losing their place at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon in January.

While acknowledging that there was a great risk of sanctions, SRC is praying for Fifa’s support.

The SRC also said it was ready to face any consequences if Fifa were to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe over government interference in football matters.

SRC chairperson Gerald Mlotshwa told journalists that losing the Afcon slot could be one of the sacrifices needed as the commission cleans up local football.

He said SRC was looking at putting in place structures that would bar Felton Kamambo and his Zifa team from being voted back into office.

SRC, a government arm, is hoping to complete its clean-up and facilitation of holding of elections within the next two years.

Fifa sanctions would see the world governing body closing financial tapes as well as ban national teams from taking part in football events on the international scene.

But SRC insisted that it did its homework before coming up with such a drastic decision.

“Insofar as Zifa is concerned, we have done the necessary consultations. We are prepared for whatever might happen. If Fifa decides to ban Zimbabwean football, we are prepared. We have planned for that. If that happens we look at it as being a short-term measure. I think Zimbabwean football needs this space and this opportunity to fix itself. If that takes us a year, if it takes us two years and we are out of the international football scene, that is fine, everyone accepts that. If we are suspended from Afcon next year, that is okay. Believe me, we are prepared for that,” Mlotshwa said in response to questions from journalists.

SRC board member Karen Mutasa reinforced Mlotshwa’s point, saying the SRC was hoping for a favourable response from Fifa.

“We anticipate that it is possible that we will be banned, but we hope they (Fifa) will co-operate with us to build the game,” Mutasa said. “Who knows they (Fifa) might actually be supportive and we pray and we hope for that.”

SRC said it had suspended the Zifa board over, among others, misappropriation of funds, failure to deal with issues of sexual harassment raised against some of the top officials, failure to address gender imbalances in the game and lack of a developmental plan for the game.

“SRC hereby informs the public that upon extensive consultations and further deliberations on matters relating to the governance and management of football in Zimbabwe, the SRC board has with immediate effect suspended the Zifa board in accordance with the SRC Act,” part of the SRC statement read. “This decision has been considered following several incidents of gross incompetence on the part of Zifa, such conduct and/or omissions being contrary to the national interest, as provided for in terms of section 30(i)(c) of the SRC Act.

“For purposes of clarity, section 30 of the SRC Act states that: (1) Where the board considers that any registered national association (c) has conducted itself in a manner which is contrary to national interest; the board may, after affording the association concerned an opportunity of making representations in the matter, do either or both of the following: (i) suspend all or (ii) any of its officers.”

Mlotshwa said the commission already had a list of individuals that it recommended to Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation minister Kirsty Coventry for the interim committee to run the affairs of Zifa until a new board is elected. He added that the commission considered the plight of the players who worked hard to play at the Afcon showcase, but concluded that it could not delay the suspension.

“I think let us look at it this way, the decision made by the board is in the national interest. I understand that there is the individual aspect. But if we were to apply that criterion, we would never have the right time. Our collective decision was to say let us bite the bullet, let us deal with this once and for all. We needed to act, never mind the individual disappointments, that is the sacrifice that people have to make.”- NewsDay

Man Impregnates Own Daughter

By A Correspondent- A 42 year old Gokwe man has been jailed 18-years for raping and impregnating his 14-year-old daughter.

He will serve an effective 14 years behind bars after regional magistrate Lungile Ncube suspended four years on condition of good behaviour.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the girl, started raping his daughter from September 2019 when she was 14 years and the matter only came to light in September last year following the intervention of the community after she fell pregnant.

The girl reported the abuse to her mother, who instead accused her of lying. Even after telling her mother that she was pregnant, she took no action and the father continued raping her.

Members of the community waylaid the abusive man and caught him red-handed raping his pregnant daughter.

Prosecuting, Kennedy Madekutsikwa told the court that on an unknown date, but sometime in September 2019, the suspect from Chief Mukoka in Gokwe South was left with his then 14-year-old daughter after his wife went to an all-night church vigil.

“During the same night, the accused person sneaked into the complainant’s bedroom where he forced himself on the girl while she was sleeping,” said Madekutsikwa.

The man returned to his matrimonial bedroom after raping his daughter. She then reported the matter to her mother the following morning when she returned from church, but the mother threatened to assault her if she told anyone.

“She (the mother) did not believe her story and instead threatened to assault her, accusing her of lying against her husband. As a result, she did not take any action,” the court was told.

The man continued raping his daughter on a number of occasions until she fell pregnant.

The girl then confided in one of the villagers, who mobilised other villagers and waylaid the man and caught him red-handed.

Villagers teamed up with the police to arrest him.

Robbers Nabbed

By A Correspondent- Three suspected armed robbers appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court yesterday after they terrorised Ruwa residents.

The suspects Tinashe Gwinhi (30), Tafadzwa Mambo (31) and Andrew Joel Kambanje (47) appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi, who remanded them in custody to November 29 for routine remand.

Allegations are that last Friday at around 8:30pm, the three, together with an accomplice only identified as Tazvi who is still at large, went to Ruwa armed with an Okapi knife, wheel spanner and a pair of pliers.

While they were walking along Runyararo Road, the accused met the complainant, Tanatswa Ganiwa.

They grabbed him from behind and robbed him of his Huawei Y5 2019 cellphone, a satchel containing various stationery, before fleeing into darkness.

On the same night, the accused accosted Florence Mukumbini, who was walking along the same road.

They took away her Sony Xperia cellphone, and a satchel with various textbooks and exercise books, before vanishing into the night.

Later on, the three came across Tinashe Mangwanya and robbed him of a cellphone and identity card.

They also got away with his trousers, US$120 in cash and a pair of shoes.

That same night, their other victim, Roy William, sensed danger when he saw them approaching him.

He tried to flee, but they caught up with him and robbed him of his belongings.

Mairos Kamudyariwa was also robbed by the trio near Malia Shopping Centre in Ruwa.-Newsday

Why is Zanu PF afraid of NGOs?

asked Reeler – No, ask why is MDC participating in rigged elections?

By Nomusa Garikai

“In the wake of the landslide victory for the opposition in the recent Zambian election, Zanu-PF must be concerned about what might happen in the 2023 elections,” wrote Tony Reeler, co-convener of the Platform for Concerned Citizens, in New Zimbabwe.

– SOURCE: zsdemocrats.blogspot.com

Zanu PF Man In Adultery Storm

By President of A Correspondent- Affirmative Action Group, Mike Chimombe has reportedly impregnated his wife’s sister, Panashe Rusero.

The sources revealed that Chimombe once attempted to marry Panashe but the uncle he approached would not have it and he was chased away.
When reached for a comment, Mike Chimombe said that it was none of the press’ business as it was his personal life.
“Why are you calling me, whatever happens in my personal life does not have anything to do with you. Zvinei newe this is my personal life and I am inclined to do what I want.”
Mitchell, Chimombe’s wife could neither deny nor confirm the story and directed H-Metro to speak to Panashe and Mike Chimombe.
“Talk to the parties involved in this saga,” the wife said.
Panashe spent the whole day cutting calls whenever H Metro tried to call her for comment. H Metro

Khaya Moyo (76), described as a true patriot, courageous and selfless freedom fighter, succumbed to cancer on Sunday at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo.

He was declared a national hero on Monday in recognition of his contribution to the liberation of Zimbabwe.

In mourning Khaya Moyo, President Mnangagwa said Khaya Moyo distinguished himself as a true patriot, freedom fighter and a resourceful, versatile cadre beyond the onerous and risky chores of the liberation struggle which he embraced with selfless courage.

Khaya Moyo was a diplomat and former Cabinet Minister, who served his apprenticeship as a young political secretary and long-time loyal personal aide to liberation struggle icon the late Vice-President Joshua Nkomo during the armed struggle.

At the time of his death, Khaya Moyo was a Zanu-PF Politburo member and the party’s national spokesperson as well as Senator for Bulilima and Mangwe constituencies.

Khaya Moyo’s son, Langa Mandlenkosi yesterday evening said the burial date will be announced today after consultations with the Government.

“Nothing has been confirmed yet in terms of burial date and we will be able to announce the burial plans tomorrow (today) after consultations between the family and Government. We will co-ordinate our plans together and confirm the burial date tomorrow,” he said.

“The plans that I am talking about include a service at our homestead in Sanzukwi, Mangwe District where the local community will get an opportunity to bid him farewell before his body is flown to Harare ahead of burial.”

Khaya Moyo’s sister, Ludo thanked Emmerson Mnangagwa for the honour bestowed on her brother, saying the family appreciated the gesture.

“We appreciate the honour that has been bestowed on our brother by President Mnangagwa, which is well deserved given that Khaya Moyo worked hard for the country during and after independence,” she said.

“As a family we also would like to thank Vice-President Chiwenga for visiting my brother in hospital shortly before he passed on and we are so humbled by that gesture. We are also grateful to Zanu-PF Vice-President Kembo Mohadi for coming to comfort us including the entire Bulawayo community for their love during this sad and tough moment.”

Ms Khaya Moyo described her brother as an epitome of absolute humility and a pillar of strength.

“My brother taught us the meaning of peace and love and also made all of us better people. We will forever cherish the great moments we shared and continue with his legacy of peace and love,” she said. Chronicle

MDC-A Targets 500 000 Voters

MDC Alliance supporters

The MDC Alliance Bulawayo province has intensified its voter registration campaign by providing transport to prospective registrants to travel to the main provincial registration offices in Belmont ahead of by-elections slated for early next year.
Revelations are that the opposition party is targeting 500 000 voters in Bulawayo during the 21-day Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) registration window period.

The campaign is being undertaken at a time when Zec warned that the city stands to lose two or three constituencies in the next delimitation exercise as the number of registered voters falls far short of the minimum threshold.

The opposition party’s provincial MDC Alliance spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza yesterday told Southern Eye that they were mobilising eligible people to register as voters during the by-elections and 2023 plebiscite.

“We are targeting to register 500 000 voters.

“We have registered big numbers and do not intend to intimidate our competitors by revealing exact details. We are offering transport to the registration offices,” Chirowodza said.

“The only time we will not be providing transport is when Zec sets up voter registration kiosks in Bulawayo’s districts.

“There are huge numbers of prospective registrants who will get an opportunity to register to vote once Zec sets up voter registration kiosks in Bulawayo’s districts.”

Recently, MDC Alliance youths launched a pilot door-to-door voter registration campaign targeting to register 90 000 new voters ahead of the delimitation exercise.

In June, government announced that a population census will be held in April next year with results expected in August.

It said the delimitation exercise and creation of new electoral boundaries would begin in October and end in December 2022.-Newsday

DNA Test Nails Teenage Girl’s Father

Real or Fake DNA Test?

A Shurugwi girl (15) who refused to breastfeed her baby alleging that her father was responsible for the pregnancy has been proved right by DNA tests.

Shurugwi Magistrate Percy Mukumba told the accused on Monday last week that the results of the DNA tests taken in July are out and although he would not announce them impeccable sources told The Mirror that they are positive.

Public Prosecutor Pride Gomera also told the accused who is remanded in prison that the court case would now resume in Gweru on December 15, 2021 now that the results are out.

The father who cannot be named to protect the child stays at Sebanga Extension in Shurugwi and is facing rape charges.

The accused appeared before Shurugwi Magistrate Percy Mukumba in July 2021 but denied the rape charges. The State then requested for DNA tests on the baby girl as part of evidence.

The complainant’s story went viral after she declared to nurses that she was not going to breastfeed her baby because her biological father impregnated her. The Social Welfare Department was engaged and the baby was taken to an orphanage in Shurugwi South while the mother went to her Mother’s rural home in Gutu

After being told the next court date, the accused allegedly protested to Magistrate Mukumba that he was not going to respect those results even though he was not told what they said.

The accused allegedly raped her daughter for ritual purposes.

The State case is that the accused who is employed at Lundi chrome Mine invited the daughter to the mine to help him with domestic chores. He raped the daughter on several occasions until she fell pregnant.

The accused has been on remand since July as he awaited the DNA results.- Masvingo Mirror

I have been to hell and back, I am broken by all of this, I am not saying I want you back, NO, I am saying give me my children. I thought that one day Amai would rise up and fight in my corner, guilty or not, to rise up against verbal abuse, emotional abuse and dictatorship.

Does the Minister of women exist??? There lies a man who once held the constitution in his hands, declaring war against oppression and dictatorship, a man that is feared by all including his boss, countless times he has said that he is above everyone and he is the one that determines the direction which the wind must blow.

Women are set on women to destroy one another, let us debate this, my husband has been allowed the platform to do whatever the hell he pleases and has not been reprimanded for this cowardly act, Bumbiro remutemo harishande [ the constitution doesn’t work],

I am begging all the women in this UNIVERSE, PLEASE HELL ME TO ACCESS MY CHILDREN, I am dying inside, I am empty, 2years is not a joke without having site of my children, my children are below 10, remember today it’s me, tomorrow it’s you… the likes of mamwe madzimai [some women] that speak negatively about me, stay away from my issues, you probably don’t have children and feel pity for yourself… I am asking for your help to get access to my children… I have asked the President many times to assist but nothing has materialized, this is no longer a private or family issue but a public one as we must also ask UNICEF, UN, UNHR to intervene as I am powerless. I really miss my children and I am really broken.

What Are The Effects Of Diabetes?

The problems

We have greater knowledge than ever before about how to prevent and treat diabetes yet the number of people with diabetes is growing rapidly and the lack of access to diagnosis and treatment is causing unnecessary suffering and death, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

More than 420 million people have diabetes.

Th number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980 and is expected to rise beyond half a billion by the end of the decade.

The increasing prevalence of diabetes is largely caused by the increasing prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents aged 5-19 rose dramatically from 4% in 1975 to over 18% in 2016.

Deaths from diabetes increased by 70% globally between 2000 and 2019.

The condition is also responsible for the largest rise in male deaths among the top 10 causes of death, with an 80% increase since 2000.

Diabetes is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation.

One in two adults with type 2 diabetes is unaware of their condition.

Globally, health systems are failing to diagnose and care for people living with diabetes.

Despite the discovery of insulin 100 years ago, many children, adolescents and adults with type 1 diabetes struggle to access insulin, as well as basic technologies such as blood glucose meters and test strips.

Half of all adults with type 2 diabetes are undiagnosed. Those who are diagnosed are not guaranteed access to essential diabetes and related medicines and regular screening for complications.

A low number of manufacturers globally, due to factors including manufacturing complexity, intellectual property protection, and other practices such as regulatory and market exclusivities, has stifled market competition for insulin and delivery devices and contributed to higher prices.

The global cost of diabetes has been estimated at over US$ 1 trillion annually.

According to a recent WHO survey, the diabetes services in 62% of WHO’s 194 Member States have been partially or completely disrupted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This disruption serves to underscore the importance of ensuring that services for diabetes are available in primary health care systems and can withstand disruptions such as those that have occurred during the pandemic.

The vulnerability of people with diabetes to other health complications has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in a high proportion of people with diabetes among hospitalized patients with severe manifestations of COVID-19.

Diabetes is not being included sufficiently in universal health coverage packages, meaning that insulin, other diabetes medicines and associated technologies are unaffordable for many people who need them, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

In general, primary health-care facilities in low-income countries do not have the basic technologies or essential medicines needed to diagnose and manage diabetes.

Globally, essential medicines for diabetes are reported to be generally available in about 80% of facilities in the public and private health-care sectors. However, they are available in only about one-half of facilities in low- and lower middle-income countries.
Data on diabetes derived from monitoring and surveillance systems in most countries are sparse and inadequate.

Only 56% of countries have recently conducted a diabetes prevalence survey, meaning that the reliability of information related to deaths from diabetes is doubtful.

The solutions
Actions for governments

Develop and strengthen monitoring systems to determine the disease and death resulting from diabetes, the diabetes treatment gap, and health system performance (capacity and interventions).

Set national diabetes monitoring and coverage targets.

Promote a healthy diet, regular physical activity and avoidance of tobacco and work with relevant sectors to address the barriers preventing a healthy lifestyle.

Include diagnosis of and treatment and care for diabetes within the primary health care system.

Strengthen referral systems between primary and other levels of care.

Strengthen health workforce and institutional capacity to detect early and manage diabetes.

Ensure that insulin is included in the national essential medicines list.

Include care for diabetes (including insulin and other medicines, insulin delivery devices and blood glucose monitoring devices) in national insurance packages.

Increase the meaningful engagement of people with diabetes on issues relating to treatment and care.

Actions for WHO

Expand efforts to promote a healthy diet, regular physical activity and avoid tobacco and work with relevant sectors to address the barriers preventing a healthy lifestyle.

Identify solutions to facilitate purchase by low- and middle-income countries of insulin, other diabetes medicines and monitoring and delivery devices; to increase the transparency of prices; and to facilitate regulation.

Provide guidance to national health authorities on inclusion of diagnosis of and care for diabetes within primary health care systems and national insurance systems.

Actions for civil society

Maintain the visibility of diabetes on the global health and development agendas.

Monitor progress in meeting agreed targets relating to diabetes prevention and control.

Engage with processes to ensure that the voices of people with lived experience of diabetes are considered when decisions are made on policies and programming.

Billiat Calls It A Day: Full Text

Fellow Zimbabweans

It was all a dream. When I was young. I always dreamt of representing the country. playing for the national team.

The dream which seemed far-fetched for a young Khama in Mufakose came when I least expected it.

The first day I donned the Warriors badge. I vowed to enjoy myself and always lift the country’s spirits.

Scoring a goal at the Africa Cup of Nations finals is one moment I still relive in my mind even up to date. It is one of the many special moments I have experienced wearing the coveted yellow jersey.

The feeling of scoring in a packed stadium for your nation is inexplicable.

I have met so many teammates, coaches at the national team and I appreciate every relationship I have built along the way. By playing for the Warriors. I have improved immensely as a player it is an opportunity I will forever cherish.

However, every story no matter how beautiful has an ending. This is probably the heaviest decision I have ever had to take in my life, but it is a decision I make with a patriotic heart.

Like those who had to pave way for our generation of Warriors stars to emerge. I have decided to retire from international football. I believe it is now time for me to pave way for new talent to blossom and serve the country in the same way that I did, or even better.

I will forever be indebted to those who took a chance on me and moulded me into the international player I grew to become. Thank you, Zimbabwe for supporting me and my teammates, for showing love with each outing.

God bless you

Man Loses US$30 000 To Goblin Cleansing Prophets

By A Correspondent- Two self-proclaimed prophets yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing fraud charges after they swindled a  Tynwald man of property worth US$30 000 during a goblin-cleansing ceremony.

The suspects, Rodrick Murefu (33) and Gutsai Chikoto (47) of Kuwadzana were remanded to today for bail application.

Allegations were that sometime last month, the accused and two others, still at large, masqueraded as prophets and told Douglas Sauti that there were goblins at his house in Tynwald, Harare,

They charged him US$8 000 for the cleansing ritual. They then claimed that they returned the goblins to their owner in Mount Darwin.

The complainant could not pay the full amount and he surrendered to the “prophets” a Toyota Prado vehicle and an eight-tonne truck as collateral until he paid the full amount.

However, he later realised that the cleansing ceremony was fake and reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the “prophets”.

The State alleges that the recovered property was valued at US$23 000, but the potential prejudice was US$30 661.

Anesu Chirenje appeared for the State.

Two Kids Suffocate, Die In Car Boot

Chiefs’ Aides In Violent Clashes

By A Correspondent- Seven people were admitted at Chivhu District Hospital last week following violent clashes between Chief Musarurwa born Enos Musakwa and Chief Mushava’s aides over the US$1 billion Chinese project.

The two warring groups are fighting over Manhize escarpment which is the site of the Government approved Chinese Tshingshan Group Holdings’s US$1 billion dollar mining project.
Mining projects are money spinners for chiefs as mining companies are obliged to pay US$10 million to community share ownership schemes.
Both sides are claiming ownership of the escarpment, The Mirror has been to Councillor Florence Mudzamiri confirmed the clashes and blamed Chief Musarurwa for trespassing into Chief Mushava’s area.
“I have been told about the clashes and I am told that seven people were injured and admitted at Chivhu District Hospital. Musarurwa is to blame, the area belongs to the vahera people and it is Chief Nyoka’s area.
“Even Vice President Chiwenga reiterated this at a function in Chivhu on Saturday. Musarurwa is the problem,” said Mudzamiri.
Police Spokesperson Paul Nyathi said he was not aware of the case.
Sources said the injured are Prosper Madzivire, Darlington Chinhamo, Namatirai Mudiwa, Learnmore Nharire and Tinotenda Chimondo. The injured were from Chikomba and Chivhu Hospital is still waiting for X-ray results to establish the extent of the injuries which are suspected to be severe.
The matter was reported at Chivhu Police Station.
Musarurwa and his aides allegedly went to Mbudzirume in Manhize which is at the border of Mash East, Mash West and Midlands provinces and also the border of several chieftainships and performed rituals in a bid to appease his ancestral spirits over the Chinese project.
Chief Mushava’s aides however warned him to stop the rituals after claiming that Musarurwa had trespassed into their area. Musarurwa did not hid the warning and 15 men armed with logs who were using Mushava’s official vehicle stormed the place and attacked Musarurwa’s aides.
Musarurwa declined to comment saying that he was a chief who doesn’t speak to the Press. He said he did his things in the traditional way.
Chief Mushava could not be reached for a comment as his phone went unanswered several times.
In July this year, Chief Musarurwa was among several traditional leaders and two Government ministers who participated in rituals to appease ancestral spirits and welcome the Chinese company.
President Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Chinese project this month.

Grace, Kasukuwere Behind Khaya- Moyo’s Death-Mliswa

By A Correspondent- Outspoken Norton MP Temba Mliswa has accused the former First Lady, Grace Mugabe and Savior Kasukuwere, the former Zanu PF political commissar, of contributing to the illness of Simon Khaya Moyo’s leading to his death.

Khaya Moyo died of Cancer in Bulawayo on Sunday.

Below is Mliswa’s statement accusing the former firts lady and Kasukuwere:
By Hon Temba Mliswa (full transcript by ZimEye) | Hello fellow Zimbabweans, on this sad day, when we mourn the passing away of Cde SK Moyo. My condolences to Mai Moyo and the family. SK Moyo was a friend to my father in Zambia during the liberation struggle together with uncle Centenary. There are two people who knew the role my father played in the struggle; he always called my father, Peter, was liked by Joshua Nkomo.

After the struggle, my father was given an opportunity to serve, but he decided not to after the struggle. I say so with a heavy heart, because the truth must be said, despite all the heroic statements coming through: we have hypocrites in ZANU PF, we had people who presided over the firing of SK Moyo who was still in ZANU PF today, who were part of the leadership of ZANU PF, who were part of the liberation struggle. You know the gamatox situation which came out at the time, accusing a certain cabal belonging to Mai Mujuru, SK was part of that, as alleged; And today I want to question those people that, you accused him of having been gamatox, …a senior man who served the party, loyally; a man who was part of the struggle, a man who you accused of wanting to overthrow the president, the question I have for you at that meeting, Tongai Kasukuwere representing G40 youth, and Lewis Matutu representing Lacoste, who are the elders who sent you to demonize our elders the way you did?

You destroyed SK Moyo in front of the former president RG Mugabe. Mai Mujuru was at the meeting, Didymus Mutasa was at the meeting, Shamhu was at the meeting, Sekeramayi was at the meeting, and most of the cabinet ministers were there, the provincial chairpersons were there, at State House, 2014, Thur the 15th Aug, what I want to say to you Zimbabweans is that we have a leadership that is hypocritical. Today we miss SK Moyo as a result of the pressure that he went through. SK deteriorated health-wise because he was removed as national chairperson of ZANU PF nemakuhwa (because of mere rumours) told president Mugabe, by young kids sent by certain elders.

What I am asking these youths, Tongai Kasukuwere and Lewis, how do you feel, this elder is no longer here because of false rumours you were sent by certain elders, why don’t you redeem yourselves, by telling the truth, on who sent you, to attack leadership, it’s not your fault you are young, but you were supported by certain elders. The very same night before that meeting, you had met certain elders, at that meeting was SK Moyo , the current president ED Mnangagwa was not there, but an agenda was driven based on falsehoods, and today SK Moyo is no more and I blame the leadership of ZANU PF that you caused it in a way, because his health deteriorated be never recovered, he was National Chairperson. From National Chair, he was demoted to being Sec of Infor And Publicity. If it were you, how would you withstand that? SK was never the same, a man who represented this country, a man who was a diplomat per excellency, it’s about time we tell the truth about this country, because the elders who are there are hypocrites. What legacy are you leaving?

Imagine if you were in his shoes today. I am looking at you ZANU PF leaders who in the politburo, you presided over this you were there. But today you want to miss SK, you want to pay your condolences to SK, you are hypocrites, you’re not true, I am hurt, because here goes a man who served the country and now his family suffers because you lied and you lied you keep on lying. The truth must set you free, Tongai, Lewis, Saviour Kasukuwere, Mai Mugabe, Grace the former First Lady, taurai chokwadi, who was behind the lies that Mai Mujuru wanted to enter? The party was killed on that day. And because of that this will always haunt you, until you tell the truth, You’re young, you’re a young generation, I challenge you to tell the truth, thank you, this is Hon Mliswa. It’s time to tell the true story of Zimbabwe, how people get to the echelons of power, through makuhwa (false rumours), through lies, ZANU PF will never be the same again. Heaven and Earth watches. – ZimEye

Warriors Face Disqualification From AFCON

The Warriors are facing disqualification from the 2021 Afcon tournament scheduled to happen in January 2022 in Cameroon.

The potential disqualification comes as part of the punishment from FIFA and CAF for Government’s interference in the running of Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).

The Sports and Recreation Commission, which is a government organization under the Ministry of Sports, announced on Tuesday, the suspension of the executive board of the FA, led by Felton Kamambo.

The suspension bars ZIFA from participating in international meetings or organise any national or international competition, or event on behalf of Zimbabwe.

The move, however, is in violation of FIFA and CAF statutes, and could see the country banned from participating in international tournaments.

The Warriors are among the twenty-four teams that have qualified for the Afcon. They are in Group B together with Senegal, Guinea and Malawi.

The Mighty Warriors and the country’s other national teams also also face potential disqualifications from future tournaments.

The ban can only be overturned once the government cease its interference in the running of football. – Soccer24 Zimbabwe

The Bank continues to urge foreign auction participants and banks to observe and uphold principles of good corporate governance and self-discipline to ensure high standards of business ethics and transparency for the stability of the economy in the short to medium term.

16 Years Can Consent To Sex, Says Justice Minister

Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has told Parliament that the age of consent to sex is 16 years and that it has nothing to do with the age of consent to marriage.

The Zimbabwe constitution sets the age of consent to marriage to 18 years and a lot of people have been confusing it with the age of consent to sex.Ziyambi said the Zimbabwe constitution is silent on the age of consent to sex and that there is no international treaty or convention on the issue.

The minister was responding to a question from Honourable Nyarai Tsuura (Proportional Representation) who wanted clarity on the age of consent to sex and the age of consent to marriage.

Below is the full-text answer from Minister Ziyambi:Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi: Thank you Madam Speaker.  I want to thank Hon. Tsuura for the question.

Madam Speaker Ma’am, regarding the first part of the question, the current legal position as referred in Section 70 of the Criminal Law Code is that the age of consent to sexual activity is pegged at 16 years.

That is the law.  There is no international convention or treaty which provides for the age of consent to sex. So let us just be clear from the start that we do not have a standard age of consent across the board. Our Constitution is also silent on the age of consent. However, on Section 78, it sets out the age of consent to marriage at 18 years.

It is necessary that I point out that there has never been in our law, a direct equation made between marriage and indulging in sexual activity. So, it has never really stated that this is the age you must indulge in sex, and we equate to age of marriage.

It has never been in our law. That practice has never been there, and we must not do so because marriage involves and requires more from a person as there are life commitments to consider including personal or proprietary and psychological as well, and we still stand by the position that 18 is the age of consent to marriage.

We do, however, implore parents, custodians and guardians to educate and teach the children to refrain from sexual conduct at a young age. We cannot, however, transfer this responsibility to the State, police and judiciary unless the sexual conduct involves matters such as rape, indecent assault and obtaining facts through inducement.

Madam Speaker Ma’am, there are proposals that the age of consent to sex should be raised to 18 years. Raising the age of consent to creates inevitable consequences. These include criminal records for children and a bar to access sexual healthcare. Dr Ruth Labode (Proportional Representation) can allude to that.

Children are already engaging in sexual activities among themselves or with older people. The age of consent being fixed at 16, recognises facts that the law cannot dictate. The facts are that at the age of 16, most children are mature, beyond their age nowadays and are already sexually active. Raising the age of consent to sex to 18 means children below the age of 18 having sexual intercourse will be criminalised.

This results in children getting unwanted criminal records. So, our position is that as parents, guardians and society, we must teach our children morals as opposed to abrogating our responsibility to the State, to say criminalise this conduct. In addition, Madam Speaker, our prisons will be filled with young children who will now be labelled as criminals for consensually engaging in sexual activity.

Our judicial system will be clogged with these matters, resulting in resources being diverted from the real sexual crimes and other serious criminal offences. If having intercourse becomes a criminal offence yet children are already indulging, this will deter these children from accessing sexual healthcare, since trying to access this healthcare is tantamount to admitting that one is guilty of a sexual offence.

These are issues that need to be resolved but my Ministry will not make a unilateral decision without consulting. There shall be consultations with stakeholders and the general public so that we can take steps on the age of consent to sex. However, I repeat, let us deal with issues of morality as a society and not transfer that responsibility to our criminal courts.

Madam Speaker Ma’am, on alleged inconsistencies between the Criminal Law Code and the Constitution, let me hasten to say there are no inconsistencies between the two. The Constitution does not provide for the age of consent to sexual intercourse. It provides for the age of consent to marriage in Section 78, which is set at 18 years of age.

I would also like to make it clear that there are laws against rape and indecent assault. And there are laws against obtaining sex by inducements such as using money, bribery, et cetera where such are considered criminal offences and offenders will be rightfully charged.  Thank you, Madam Speaker Ma’am.

Emmanuel Nyakonda Was A Hard Working Man, Mum Pours Out

Emmanuel Nyakonda

The late DJ Stummer, Emmanuel Nyakonda’s mother, pours her heart out following the son’s untimely death last week. (Full transcript by ZimEye)

Emmanuel was a hard working child, as he grew up with others. When I fell ill in 1983, Emmanuel is the one who used to cook for us. Emmanuel helped me to open my crèche. He is the one who wrote the sign post that says: Crèche is Open.

Emmanuel was my first driver for the crèche. I asked him saying to go pick your sister’s child, Sheu. Sheu is now in Poland, he is the one who got picked up by Emmanuel when this crèche was opened, and is now studying medicine in Poland.

Emmanuel was very powerful. Even before then, when he got married, Emmanuel was helping me in the sewing room. He was a good Taylor. The sister was being taught at Speciss.

Emmanuel and I sewed the outfits for the wedding.

We made a lot of money. Emmanuel was a hard working man. Even the money for his flights to the UK, I did not do much. In 1 and a half months, we had managed to raise the money.

God saw it that Emmanuel battle it out for 5 minutes. Maybe he was going to struggle if it would have gone on for longer.

We shall meet when the Lord permits.

I would also like to thank you time and the honour to speak with me.

– Mama Nyakonda

Gvt Pleads With Seed, Fertilser Companies To Reduce Input Prices

By A Correspondent- The Government is engaging seed and fertiliser producers to boost local production and ensure that input prices are affordable to all farmers.

This was said by Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister Anxious Masuka in response to farmers’ concerns over the recent price increases, especially for maize seed and fertiliser.

Farmers attending the recent 81st Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) congress in Gweru last Friday expressed worry that producer prices were no longer viable as a result of increases in inputs prices.

Responding to the president of young farmers within ZFU, Prosper Chikwara, who had asked what the Government was doing to cushion farmers from the rising prices of inputs, Masuka said:

We were actually discussing this matter with President Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga that inputs have gone up.

Last year, for example, a 10kg bag of maize seed was going for $6 000, but it has now gone up to $17 000.

So, the seed [price] has gone up and at the moment we want to appeal to seed producers not to increase seed prices.

To bring stability to the agriculture sector, we want to localise the production of fertiliser so that in the next three years we don’t hear of importation of fertiliser or ingredients used in the production of the product.

We are in discussion with some of the seed companies so that they produce more and flood the market. So, we are looking at stabilising the products by making them locally.

Masuka said the Government’s grand plan was to ensure that within the next three years, the country has a vibrant fertiliser and seed production base to reduce imports.

Apostolic Faith Mission Of Africa Turns To The High Court Over Water

By A Correspondent- The Apostolic Faith Mission of Africa (AFMA) has gone to the High Court to force a commercial farmer to restore its access to water that flows through a pipeline connected to a nearby dam.

The church, whose headquarters is in Lobengula Extension in Bulawayo, owns a piece of land in Mangwe District in Matabeleland South, adjacent to a farm owned by a commercial farmer, Garry Rosenfels.

Rosenfels had two farms adjacent to each other and one of the farms was acquired by the Government and handed over to AFMA in 2009.

The church is accusing the former owner of Darnaway Farm, Rosenfels, of blocking it from accessing water from a nearby dam and damaging the water infrastructure.

Through its lawyers Gill, Godlonton and Gerrans Legal Practitioners, the church filed an urgent chamber application for a spoliation order at the Bulawayo High Court citing Rosenfels, his company Mangwe Paprika Growers Co-operative and the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement, Anxious Masuka as respondents.

AFMA wants an order directing Rosenfels and Mangwe Paprika Growers Co-operative and all those acting through them to restore its access to water, which flows through a pipeline connected to the dam.

The church also wants the two respondents to return the pipes and fertiliser dissolver machines, among other farming equipment.

In his founding affidavit, the church representative Busani Dube said since 2009 they have been enjoying unlimited access to the water from the dam through the main pipe.

He said Rosenfels last month blocked the pipeline and prevented the flow of water into their farm.

Dube said when they tried to approach Rosenfels at his farm, they were met with violence and resistance with three gunshots being fired in the process. No one was injured.

AFMA said the proceeds from the farming activities are used by the church to fund and run orphanages and support widows and vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, Mangwe Paprika Growers Co-operative recently filed summons at the same court under case number HC1239/21 seeking an eviction order against the church from the disputed farm.

“Help Me Access My Children”: Marry Chiwenga Pleads With All Women In The Universe

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ailing estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa has appealed to “all the women in this universe” to help her fight for access to her children.

The 39-year-old former fashion model also appealed to the United Nations and its agencies, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to intervene in her case.

Marry poured her heart out on social media, where she revealed that she has not seen her three minor children, who are all below the age of 10, in two years.

In her emotional statement, Marry has called out the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises for failing to speak out on her behalf in an emotional statement.

She blasted women who speak negatively about her due to her alleged chequered history on speaking out for others. She said such people should stay out of her business.

Below is Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga’s statement:

Violence Over Chinese Run Steel Making Project

By A Correspondent- Violence erupted leading to the injury of seven villagers who have since been hospitalized after two traditional Chiefs clashed in Chivhu over the US$1 billion Chinese steel-making project.

The bloody clashes erupted between Chief Musarurwa born Enos Musakwa and Chief Mushava’s aides who are warring over the Manhize escarpment which is the site of the Government-approved Chinese Tshingshan Group Holdings’s US$1 billion dollar mining project.

Both sides are claiming ownership of the escarpment

A report by the Masvingo Mirror says seven people were admitted at Chivhu District Hospital last week following the violent clashes. Both Chiefs view the steel making project as a money spinner considering that mining companies are obliged to pay US$10 million to community share ownership schemes.

Apart from the US$10 million, the project is set to create 4 000 direct jobs and employ 10 000 others downstream, with local youths in Chivhu and Mvuma angling for these jobs.

The matter was reported at Chivhu Police Station.

Local ward Councillor Florence Mudzamiri confirmed the clashes and blamed Chief Musarurwa for trespassing into Chief Mushava’s area.

The injured have been identified as Prosper Madzivire, Darlington Chinhamo, Namatirai Mudiwa, Learnmore Nharire and Tinotenda Chimondo. They had come from Chikomba area.

Chivhu Hospital is still waiting for X-ray results to establish the extent of the injuries which are suspected to be severe.

Chief Musarurwa and his aides allegedly went to Mbudzirume in Manhize which is at the border of Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Midlands provinces. The area is also the border of several chieftainships.

While at Mbudzirume, Chief Musarurwa and his people allegedly performed rituals in a bid to appease his ancestral spirits over the Chinese project.

However, Chief Mushava’s aides emerged and warned Chief Musarurwa to stop the rituals after claiming that Musarurwa had trespassed into their area. Chief Musarurwa did not heed the warning.

At that point, about 15 men armed with logs who were using Chief Mushava’s official vehicle stormed the place and attacked Chief Musarurwa’s aides.

Asked about the incident, Chief Musarurwa declined to comment saying that he operated in the traditional way and does not give interviews to media.

In July this year, Chief Musarurwa was among several traditional leaders and two Government ministers who participated in rituals to appease ancestral spirits and welcome the Chinese company.

Community Health Workers Plead For Upward Review Of Allowances

By A Correspondent- Stakeholders in the health sector have called for an urgent upward review of the paltry US$15 allowances paid to community health workers (CHWs) as they are pivotal in bringing public health services to communities.

Currently, government is heavily relying on these community health experts who largely work on a voluntary basis to assist the Health ministry. The ratio of healthcare workers to the population is very low at 1,23 per 1 000.

Out of the US$15 that they receive as stipends, US$1 is deducted towards payment for bicycles which some of them received under the Global Fund in 2010.

“Our Global Fund allowances have not been consistent.

“We were told that we would receive these every quarter, but it is now taking over a year to get them,” said one irate CHW who preferred not to be named.

Community Working Group on Health (CWGH) executive director Itai Rusike said government should seriously consider an upward review of the allowances paid to the CHWs so that they could be supported by the national health budget.

“CHWs continue to augment the work being done by the mainstream health sector: raising awareness, giving health advice, monitoring growth of children less than five years, and mobilising communities during outreach programmes for immunisation,” he said.

“But despite these vital functions, the numbers of CHWs and their role has diminished over the past two decades in Zimbabwe.”

Rusike said this had caused disunity and low morale among the CHWs.

“Others are paid on time while some can go for long periods without getting their allowances or tools of the trade,” he said.

In the past, CHWs benefited from incentives such as uniforms, bicycles and allowances from money allocated through the national budget.

“But these incentives are now erratic and not being administered equitably.

It is risky and unsustainable for a country to depend substantially on external partners as donors can withdraw financial support anytime should their interests shift for some reason,” Rusike said.

CWGH has been training CHWs on COVID-19 as trusted sources of information for community literacy.-Newsday

High Court Orders ZEGU To Shelve Elections

By A Correspondent- The High Court on Monday ordered the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) to shelve Students Executive Council (SEC) elections at the institution until a matter in which a student is challenging her disqualification from participation in the elections was resolved.

The ZAOGA Forward in Faith-run institution was taken to court after some aspiring candidates were disqualified on the grounds that they were not members of the ZAOGA church, could not speak in tongues and were not “spirit-filled”.

The elections were scheduled to take place on 12 November, but they were challenged on 10 November.

High Court judge Justice Webster Chinamora yesterday ordered ZEGU to halt the elections after one of the affected students, Modester Zinhanga, filed an urgent chamber application at the High Court.

Zinhanga is challenging her disqualification from contesting in the SEC elections on the basis that she is not a member of ZAOGA and did not show any evidence of speaking in tongues.

She is being represented by advocate Wilbert Mandinde, who is being instructed by Isheanesu Chirisa and Noble Chinhanu of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

Tichaona Marume of Marume Furidzo Legal Practitioners appeared for the university.

The university also alleged that Zinhanga had not proved that she was a born-again Christian and that she was spirit-filled.

To protect the integrity of the electoral process, Justice Chinamora ordered the university to suspend the elections until Zinhanga’s case was finalised.

The matter will be heard on 19 November 2021.

Tinashe Mugabe Takes Closure DNA Challenge To The High Court

By A Correspondent- The principal consultant at Global Parentage Services, trading as Global DNA Zimbabwe, Tinashe Mugabe, has approached the High Court to challenge the decision by the Health Professions Authority Zimbabwe (HPAZ) to shut down his company.

The Closure DNA is a DNA paternity show where fathers unsure about the paternity of their children get a public reveal of the DNA test results.

The regulatory authority, HPAZ, ordered the closure of The Closure DNA in September after declaring that Mugabe and his company had violated conditions it had set.

One of the conditions was a requirement that the company should employ a professional laboratory scientist at all times.

HPAZ said Mugabe was neither qualified nor competent to issue DNA test results.

Mugabe is now suing the HPAZ and the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Council Zimbabwe (MCAZ) challenging the suspension of his operations and closure of his offices.

He is denying that his company is a medical one requiring regulation by HPAZ, insisting that he only registered with them for compliance in order to operate freely.

Mugabe said after he started his operations in the business of DNA testing he was approached by HPAZ which advised him to register with them.

As part of the conditions, Global DNA was informed to employ a laboratory scientist and was also registered under MCAZ as a collection site.

He said he complied with the directives of registration until his scientist resigned from her job.

Mugabe said their centre is only a collection site and samples are sent out of Zimbabwe for testing before results are returned to Zimbabwe.

He insists that his company does not in any way “diagnose, treat, mitigate or prevent illness, injury or disability, abnormal, physical or mental state or the symptoms in human beings as defined by the Health Professions Act.”

He said his business does not in any way fall within the definition of a health institution as defined by the Act.

Mugabe said employing a laboratory scientist does not mean Global DNA was now a medical facility and maintains it is not necessary or mandated.

In this regard, he is seeking a declaratory that the HPAZ cannot at law order the closure of his offices because Global DNA is not a health institution.

Through his lawyers Maunga Maanda and Associates, Mugabe said:

Global DNA Zimbabwe had a legitimate expectation of being heard before an adverse decision was made against it.

It thus has an interest in the matter before this honourable court in that its business has been suspended unlawfully, with great loss to its income and the benefit it has brought to users of its services.

The matter is pending.-ZimLive

Teachers Down Tools Over Salaries

By A Correspondent- Hundreds of teachers yesterday downed tools to launch their 12-day strike over poor salaries and conditions of service, but government claimed that the protest was largely unheeded.

Teachers unions said they were mobilising for a coalition to unite and strengthen their arguments when they air their grievances.

Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Union (Fozeu), an umbrella body for teachers representatives, yesterday announced that unions were uniting to speak with one voice. Fozeu chairperson Obert Masaraure told NewsDay that all unions were very positive about the united front.

“We want to sit down together as unions, and share  ideas on how our concerns could be addressed. Teachers have been suffering for decades and the call for government to take heed of their calls has escalated. Teachers are professionals who cannot continue surviving like beggars,” Masaraure said.

He said the unions also insisted that they would not supervise the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) examinations which are due to start next week, if government does not pay them invigilating allowances since they consider it an extra job.

On behalf of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz), for which he is president, Masaraure claimed that 92% of their members did not report for duty yesterday to compel government to address their concerns.

“Congratulations to the teachers of Zimbabwe for once again defying the odds and embarking on a successful job action,” he said in a statement.

“Percentage attendance in schools dropped to an average of 57% across the country. 92% of the members of Artuz took heed of the call to withdraw labour. From the pool of Artuz membership, only school heads are in schools. The ongoing 12 days of action are also receiving massive support and endorsement from the nation at large.”

The Zimbabwe National Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Zinatu) said its members had resolved to join other teachers in the ongoing strike, following wide consultations.

“We are actually building up from our consultations with our general membership as leadership so we can concretise their resolutions as we also share our position with member unions. Our membership is the ultimate voice of the union that speaks louder than an individual opinion. Our members are incapacitated to report for duty and we remain so until government shows its commitment to improve our welfare,” Zinatu chief executive Manuel Nyawo said.

Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said only Artuz and Zinatu members failed to report for work, which was an insignificant number.

However, he said Primary and Secondary Education minister Evelyn Ndlovu was determined to improve the teachers’ welfare and urged teachers to be patient with her.

“As of Friday, we had 94,08% of teachers reporting for duty and that is very encouraging, with about 145 000 teachers in the country against Artuz (386) and Zinatu (50), who form a combined membership of 436 which is roughly 0,3% of the teacher establishment,” Ndoro said.

“Our reaction basically, as a ministry is that let us not get ahead of ourselves and do the best we can to offer quality, relevant and inclusive education to our learners in order to achieve Vision 2030. Our minister Ndlovu has repeatedly said one of her key priorities is to improve the welfare of our teachers.  So, I urge members of the teaching fraternity to embrace the confidence shown by our minister about better days to come.”

Public Service minister Paul Mavima refused to comment on government’s plan to address the demands of the striking teachers.

“Teachers fall under the Primary and Secondary Education ministry, hence the ministry is better placed to respond to your questions,” Mavima said.

Other teachers unions like the Zimbabwe Teachers Association (Zimta) said the coalition was essential.

Zimta secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said: “We might have different ideologies as unions, but if we are fighting for a common cause, that is to improve the welfare of our members, then we should unite and speak with one voice. Zimta has always been in support of unity with other teachers’ representatives and that is why we are part of the federation of education unions. We believe in unity to strengthen our call.”

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) also said it was mobilising for a “united front” of teachers to stop the continued “abuse” of teachers by Zimsec and government.

PTUZ wrote to the Zimsec board, notifying it that teachers would not invigilate the 2021 examinations if there was no agreement that they be get paid for the service.

“By copy of this letter we, therefore, do hereby inform you that if there are no such contracts between Zimsec and teachers by the time the examinations start, our members will not be able to take part in invigilation processes,” the PTUZ letter read.

“We do make this declaration knowing that the law is on our side, and that the only reason teachers previously invigilated your examinations was it erroneously appeared as part of their job description when in actual fact it was not, hence our rightful and legitimate demand to be paid for the services rendered.” PTUZ said teachers’ workload had also increased after the introduction of the continuous assessment learning activity, which means that everyone involved in examinations must be paid for their services.-newsday

Prophet T Freddy In Unprotected S_x Scandal

By A Correspondent-Harare preacher, Prophet T Freddy faces a rape charge involving a local woman claiming that the controversial man of God raped her without using protection.

“Free Makomborero Haruzivishe Today”

Mako is innocent! He is just a victim of political persecution to deter millennial voters , Mdc Alliance Namibia echoes.

15 November 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia continues to give its extraordinary solidarity to the incarcerated revolutionary par excellence Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe who was illegally convicted for alleged whistling in town when Zanupf morons are killing, stealing and grabbing national resources with impunity. We condemn this weaponisation of the law by the clueless Zanupf regime. The conviction of Makomborero Haruzivishe was fatally flawed and will be set aside by an independent and reasonable court.

Mako is a well-known political activist who is being targeted because he is vocal about Zanupf induced poverty, injustice and senseless and barefaced corruption faced by the citizens. He is also a revolutionary intellectual, public thinker and an ardent member of the Mdc Alliance led by the our political mountain President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. We are committed to pursue multiple strategies to absolutely subdue these satanic elements that mar progress in the national democratic revolution. We demand his immediate release since he is totally innocent. Mako is not a land baron neither is he a Zanupf stomach politician.

We are extremely concerned by the selective application of the law against our members especially Mako ,who is a victim of political persecution because of his dedication to demand his freedom and that of others. Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe was in April imprisoned for 24 months by magistrate Judith Taruvinga after staging a demonstration in central Harare on the 5 of February 2020. He faced another separate charge of resisting arrest and was sentenced to 12 months ,which ran concurrently with the first charge. Our ardent democratic fighter, however, is facing several other trumped up charges before the courts which are yet to be finalised which explains why he was kept inside after getting $10 000 bail from the High Court.

As enshrined in the Supreme Law of Zimbabwe, basic human freedoms are clearly guaranteed. Citizens have reserved rights to freely express their political opinions without the fear of being persecuted by prosecution. Democratic freedom is preferred to the sadist muzzling of democratic of space meant to silence dissent. Mdc Alliance Namibia demands the immediate release of our man of varlour, nerve and mettle so that we can together prosecute the national democratic revolution to its logical conclusion.

Grade 6 Pupil Commits Suicide

A Grade Six pupil from Chitungwiza who allegedly committed suicide has been buried at Zororo Memorial Park.
It is understood that the 11-year-old Harley, might not have taken lightly the reprimand from parents who told her to be responsible with her bedroom.

“Her mother and father were all present when they told her to be responsible with her bedroom and from there she took long to come back until her Grade 3 sister called her mother to come and see her sister hanging,” said grandfather Robert Makumbe.

Still at loss of words, the grieving family raised concern over socialising agents which seem to have taken over control of young people.

“One would think that maybe it’s an evil spirit that took over. But what I can share is that she was reserved, she could spend her time on her phone, laptop and school.

“She was not much of a people person,” he added. Meanwhile, police have received a report of two minors from the same area who were found dead inside a family car boot in Chitungwiza on Sunday, raising further concerns over the safety of children.

Cases of minors committing suicide have become rife of late, with another 9-year-old boy from Epworth reportedly hanging himself in September.

In October, a 15-year-old boy from Unit G in Seke, Chitungwiza, was found hanging on a roofing beam by the toilet side at his cousin’s house in Unit A.

It is believed the boy had a misunderstanding with his mother after he was found with a 14-year-old girl. — Additional reporting: -ZBC News

Full Text: Khama Billiat Calls It A Day

Khama Billiat
