Parents Acquitted Over School Maladministration Protest

By A Correspondent| Mutasa Magistrates court has absolved four parents of misconduct charges after they stood trial for allegedly staging a protest against maladministration by some school authorities in Honde Valley, in Manicaland province.

The parents namely, Jennifer SitholeTafirenyika Boterere, Shadreck Manyange and Brighton Manyange, had been standing trial at Mutasa Magistrates Court in Mutasa District in Manicaland province after they were arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers together with a three-year-old toddler and Esther Kuseri, who was pregnant at the time of arrest, and charged with disorderly conduct in a public place as defined in section 41 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

During trial, prosecutors claimed that SitholeManyangeBoterere and Manyange, who reside in Sagambe village in Mutasa District in Manicaland province, masterminded a protest against Evans Mwaturura, the school head at Sagambe Primary School, who stood accused by some parents and guardians, of presiding over maladministration at the school. The villagers were also accused of stopping school children from attending lessons at Sagambe Primary School.

The allegations of maladministration had been raised during aSchool Development Committee (SDC) Annual General Meeting, which was held at Sagambe Primary School, where some parents intended to raise several concerns against Mwaturura. The disgruntled parents had sought to engage officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and eventually a meeting was held with officials from the ministry in the presence of some ZRP officers from Ruda Police Station. Kuseri was arrested during the meeting for allegedly raising her voice against an official at the consultation. She was later released from Ruda Police Station on Thursday 7March 2024 after she paid an admission of guilt fine for disorderly conduct in a public place for contravening section 41 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, following the intervention of ZLHR lawyers.

Kuseri opted to pay an admission of guilt fine for disorderly conduct in a public place because she was pregnant and the conditions of police detention were making her uncomfortable and she was not comfortable with the inconvenience of court processes considering her condition.

Chikosa who is the former SDC Chairperson at Sagambe Primary School, was separately charged with contravening section 37 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of the peace or bigotry.

He was accused of being the one who had written a list of grievances levelled against Mwaturura, which had been presented at the meeting with officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Chikosa was removed from remand and advised that he would be summoned to stand trial if prosecutors decide to pursue the matter.

On 4 September 2024, Mutasa Magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe acquitted SitholeManyangeBoterere and Manyange after finding themnot guilty at the close of the prosecution case.

Chigumba In Election Rigging Confession

By Political Reporter- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chair, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, has confirmed that elections are consistently rigged.

Speaking at an election workshop in Nyanga, Chigumba pointed to longstanding electoral disputes and suggested that they could be avoided if political parties and stakeholders proactively agreed on legal reforms before election cycles begin.

“The differences we have as stakeholders on the electoral process in Zimbabwe are perpetuated by our failure to correctly diagnose the problems in order to prescribe effective solutions,” she stated, calling for urgent dialogue to fix the country’s flawed system.

Chigumba’s remarks, made during the 2023 post-election review conference, highlight how deep-seated challenges in Zimbabwe’s electoral framework are a direct result of the lack of preemptive reforms.

Despite ZEC’s role, she implied that without consensus on laws governing elections, the status quo of manipulation would persist.

“Electoral change can only be referred to as reform if its primary goal is to improve electoral processes, fostering enhanced impartiality, inclusiveness, transparency, integrity, or accuracy,” said Chigumba.

However, she warned that what is seen as reform by some could be viewed as deliberate manipulation by others, underscoring the complexity of the issue.

The shocking acknowledgment by Zimbabwe’s top electoral authority reignites the debate on how ZEC itself has played a role in sustaining rigged elections and whether true reform can ever be achieved under its current structure.

Chigumba’s remarks suggest a willingness to change—but the question remains whether that change will happen or if Zimbabwe’s elections will continue down the same contested path.

Mnangagwa Loses Sleep Over Collapsing ZiG

By A Correspondent

Speaking at a ZANU PF Politburo meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa reiterated his government’s stance on the ongoing economic turmoil, attributing the crisis to what he termed “saboteurs.”

This recurring theme in his rhetoric underscores the administration’s narrative that external and internal forces are undermining the nation’s stability.

Mnangagwa stated, “Acts of economic sabotage, speculative and counter-productive tendencies by those who thrive on greed and profiteering have no place in our country.”

The declaration highlights his administration’s view that the economic struggles faced by ordinary citizens are not a result of government policies but rather the machinations of individuals seeking personal gain at the expense of the wider population.

The President’s comments come amid rising inflation, unemployment, and public discontent, which have fueled protests and calls for accountability.

By blaming “saboteurs,” Mnangagwa seeks to deflect criticism from his government, suggesting that the economic crisis is being exacerbated by malicious actors rather than systemic failures.

“Attacks on the economy to make the public suffer are unacceptable and my Government will protect the ordinary people,” he added, emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the populace.

The statement reflects a broader strategy to galvanize support by positioning the government as a defender of the people against perceived threats.

Critics of the government argue that such rhetoric serves to obscure the underlying issues plaguing the economy, including mismanagement, corruption, and inadequate policy responses.

Many believe that the focus on “saboteurs” distracts from the need for genuine reforms.

As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with its economic challenges, Mnangagwa’s insistence on external blame raises questions about the administration’s willingness to confront its own shortcomings and implement the necessary changes to stabilize the country’s economy.

The narrative of sabotage may resonate with some supporters, but for many Zimbabweans struggling to make ends meet, the call for accountability and action remains paramount.

Chiwenga ‘Shot-Down’ In Explosive Zanu PF Showdown

By Political Reporter – An explosive clash erupted at the Zanu PF politburo meeting yesterday as President Emmerson Mnangagwa read the riot act to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s supporters.

The heated session convened to trim the number of delegates ahead of next month’s conference turned into a battleground over growing tensions between the two powerhouses.

Mnangagwa accused Chiwenga’s allies of using social media to rally support for the Vice President, signalling an alarming escalation in their power struggle.

Despite a behind-the-scenes deal made after the 2017 coup—which ousted Robert Mugabe and placed Mnangagwa in power—Mnangagwa is now mobilizing to block Chiwenga from taking over in 2028.

The meeting saw Mnangagwa issue a stern warning: “Unruly elements who are abusing various media platforms to cause alarm and despondency… stand warned,” he declared at party headquarters, directly targeting Chiwenga’s camp.

Mnangagwa, aiming to replace Chiwenga with his ally Mabel Chinomona at the upcoming Bulawayo conference, faces resistance from Chiwenga loyalists within the party.

Key figures at the meeting included Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia, Chiwenga, and senior party members Kembo Mohadi, Oppah Muchinguri, and Obert Mpofu.

The long-standing rivalry between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, who spearheaded the 2017 coup, continues to threaten party unity, with signs of a deeper battle for control as the 2028 transition looms.

ZANU PF’s 2028 Election Strategy Raises Concerns Over Rigging

By A Correspondent

As the 2028 elections approach, the ZANU PF Mashonaland West Youth League is ramping up its efforts to consolidate power and maintain its grip on the political landscape. Recently, the league distributed motorbikes to all secretaries of youth affairs in the province, a move framed as a response to mobility challenges that have hampered party activities. This initiative, however, raises questions about the underlying motives and potential implications for electoral integrity.

Provincial Youth League Chairperson Tapiwa Masenda stated that the motorbikes would enhance the operational capacity of youth leaders, allowing them to engage more effectively with party members and supporters. While the provision of motorbikes may appear to empower the youth, critics argue that it also serves as a tool for tighter control and surveillance over grassroots activities. This strategic maneuver could be seen as a preparatory step toward consolidating support and reinforcing party loyalty ahead of the elections.

The distribution of motorbikes aligns with a broader pattern of ZANU PF’s tactics in previous elections, where allegations of electoral malpractices, including rigging and intimidation, have been rampant. By strengthening its youth wing, ZANU PF aims to secure a robust presence in communities, potentially stifling dissent and undermining the efforts of opposition parties. The focus on youth engagement, while seemingly positive, can also be interpreted as a means to manipulate the political landscape in favor of the ruling party.

As political tensions rise in Zimbabwe, the implications of these actions cannot be overlooked. ZANU PF’s commitment to empowering its youth may mask deeper strategies aimed at ensuring electoral dominance, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the upcoming elections. With allegations of electoral fraud looming, the party’s initiatives may ultimately contribute to an environment where transparency and fairness are compromised, casting doubt on the democratic process in Zimbabwe.

Masvingo Provincial Hospital Medical Superintendent Discharged of Culpable Homicide Charge

Dr. Noel Ralph Zulu, the Medical Superintendent at Masvingo Provincial Hospital, has been discharged from a culpable homicide charge. The charge was related to an incident where a 30cm x 30cm surgical gauze was left inside a patient’s abdomen during a procedure.

Dr. Zulu was discharged this afternoon by Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka, following a discharge application made last Wednesday by his attorney, Oliver Marwa. The application came at the end of the State’s case in the trial concerning the death of Gladys Sibanda.

Noel Zulu

Sibanda, who passed away in 2023 while attending a Zanu PF rally in Zaka, was previously treated at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where the gauze was left inside her after surgery. The State contended that the retained surgical item contributed to her death. However, Dr. Godfrey Zimbwa, who conducted the post-mortem, determined the cause of death to be liver cirrhosis, not complications related to the retained gauze.

Magistrate Chineka ruled that there was insufficient evidence to link Sibanda’s death directly to the surgical gauze left in her abdomen in 2015. Despite the gauze, reports indicated that Sibanda was otherwise physically well and able to perform household tasks.

Mnangagwa In Bid To Dismantle Opposition

By A Correspondent

In a revealing development, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has allegedly devised a plan to dismantle the opposition entirely before the 2028 elections.

This strategy appears to be gaining momentum as several members of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have recently defected to the ruling ZANU PF party.

The defections took place in St Mary’s Ward 5, Chitungwiza, where former CCC chairwoman Winnie Chiwundura was among the prominent figures to switch allegiance.

At a public event that included the burning of CCC regalia, Chiwundura cited “dissatisfaction with CCC’s leadership and a lack of progress” as her reasons for abandoning the opposition. Her move reflects a troubling trend for the CCC, which faces increasing challenges to its cohesion and public support.

ZANU PF officials welcomed the defections with enthusiasm, framing them as a testament to the ruling party’s growing influence.

A ZANU PF spokesperson stated, “Tatotanga campaign for 2028,” suggesting that the party is already gearing up for the next electoral battle by capitalizing on dissent within the opposition ranks.

This strategic move is indicative of a broader pattern of political maneuvering by ZANU PF. By highlighting disillusionment among CCC supporters, the ruling party aims to reinforce its narrative of inclusivity and governance effectiveness under Mnangagwa.

The recent defections not only serve to bolster ZANU PF’s ranks but also undermine the credibility of the CCC as a viable alternative.

As the political landscape in Zimbabwe evolves, the implications of these defections may have significant consequences for the opposition’s ability to unite and challenge the ruling party.

The CCC now faces the critical task of addressing internal grievances and restoring confidence among its base, or risk further erosion of its support as the 2028 elections approach.

Female Student Caught With Mbanje

By A Correspondent

A surprising turn of events occurred in Masvingo when a pregnant student from Masvingo Polytechnic was arrested for possessing dagga. On Wednesday, Sandra Ngobo, 21, was apprehended but was released by Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi on Friday after being warned and cautioned.

Magistrate Hanzi took into account Ngobo’s pregnancy, her status as a student, and her lack of income to pay any potential fines. The court also recognized that community service was not a viable option for her, as it would interfere with her studies.

This decision highlights the court’s sensitivity to her circumstances while addressing the legal issues at hand.

Benza Makes A Mark In Europe

Herentals midfielder Tino Benza is closing in on a deal in Europe, amid revelations that an agency called him back to England where he has sharpening skills, with a number of top coaches fine-tuning him for possible move.

The 22-year-old Benza was first invited to England for the same program in July and spent three weeks training.

He reportedly impressed —a development which necessitated the agency to sign him up and invited him back for further logistics in the wake of a possible move.

The 2022 and 2023 Premier Soccer League (PSL) People’s Choice award winner, who flew to England a fortnight ago for further assessments, might miss the remainder of the current season.

Benza, who was converted to a wide role diverging from his traditional target man position by his uncle —Herentals coach Paul Benza, is relishing the prospect of bigger challenges ahead.

“It’s been a good challenge for me, being in a different environment with high competition and expectations. Initially, it was tough, but I’m starting to enjoy the challenge and new experience,” said Tino.

“Everything looks promising at the moment. I’m grasping what’s required to succeed in Europe,” he added.

Herentals coach (Paul) Benza is confident Tino will break the European ceiling.

“We are just expecting the best from him because the club is still searching for that first player who will make a foreign breakthrough,” Paul said.

Los Blancos Post Narrow Win

Carlo Ancelotti’s side followed a fantastic first half with a poor second, and were perhaps fortunate to run out winners

Real Madrid started in style before finishing in uncertainty in a tense 3-2 win over Alaves. For 45 minutes, Los Blancos were rampant, the Vinicius Jr-Kylian Mbappe-Rodrygo trio purring to give the home side a 3-0 lead. But two late Alaves goals made things interesting – and almost saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men collapse.

The Madrid opener came from an unlikely source, Lucas Vazquez sweeping Vinicius’ cutback into the bottom corner. Mbappe made it two shortly before half time, a quick interchange with Jude Bellingham leading to an easy finish for Los Blancos’ big summer signing.

Rodrygo scored the third shortly after half time, sliding one through the keeper’s legs after far too easily evading two Alaves defenders. Endrick came close to adding a fourth within minutes of entering the fray, his deflected shot pinging off the post.

Alaves stuck around, though. Carlos Protesoni grabbed the first, curling one off the post from outside the box. Veteran Kike Garcia added a second two minutes later, setting up a nervy finish. Los Blancos held on, though, some smart defending securing a win that turned out to be far from easy.

Ndau Festival Unites Chipinge Against Political Violence & Climate Change

By Political Reporter-Chipinge, known for its resilience, is harnessing the power of the Ndau Festival of the Arts (NDAFA) to promote peace and counter the devastating effects of climate change.

Last week, the Chipinge community gathered in Bangira village, ward 18, under Chief Musikavanhu, to celebrate their annual cultural event, focusing on how arts and tradition can foster peace and reconciliation in the face of modern challenges.

The festival, held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace, has evolved beyond just cultural displays into a vital space for dialogue on gender justice, environmental preservation, and peaceful coexistence.

Phillip Kusasa, one of the NDAFA founders.

This year’s theme, Women Museums: Inspiring Communities Through Feminine Biographies, paid tribute to the often-overlooked contributions of women in Chipinge’s socio-economic development.

“The 2024 theme was inspired by the long-standing patriarchal dominance in our community. This event is our way of celebrating both women and men who have contributed to the peace we enjoy today,” said Phillip Kusasa, one of NDAFA’s founders.

Kusasa emphasised the festival’s role in reclaiming the cultural legacy of female icons like Mbuya Joyce Simango, whose literature has reinvigorated the Ndau language and culture.

Female artists such as Flight Mlambo, Esnath, and Tariro Mhlanga also showcased their talents, elevating the platform for women in the arts.

Since its inception in 2013, NDAFA has been instrumental in documenting Ndau Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), which promote both environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Mr. Claris Madhuku, Director of the Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust (PYCD), praised the festival’s efforts:

“The Ndau Festival has elevated the role of traditional wisdom, helping communities combat both violent conflicts and the climate crisis.”

Chipinge, a district deeply scarred by political violence and the aftermath of disasters such as Cyclone Idai, has relied on its indigenous knowledge to navigate these challenges.

NDAFA has become a beacon of hope for uniting people in the face of electoral conflicts, tribal tensions, and climate emergencies.

In his speech, UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasised the dangers of disinformation and climate change, themes resonating deeply with NDAFA’s goals.

The Ndau Festival has successfully woven together threads of tradition, culture, and activism, positioning itself as a crucial platform for peace and climate resilience in Zimbabwe.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Misheck Mugadza graced the event.

Selmor Mutukudzi Opens Up About the Pain of Grief on Stage

Grief is not a straight line, nor is it a process that moves forward in predictable steps. Rather, it’s more like a wave—rising and falling with its own rhythm, sometimes calm and sometimes crashing down unexpectedly.

Many of us have been led to believe in the concept of “closure,” as if there’s a point where we finish grieving and move on. But closure, in the context of loss, is more of a myth than a reality. Grief isn’t a business deal you can close, nor a journey with a clear destination. It’s a part of life that ebbs and flows, often when we least expect it.

Selmor Mtukudzi, daughter of the legendary Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi, embodies this truth. Her experience of grief highlights the complexity and depth of mourning a loved one, particularly when the grief is tied to unresolved family dynamics and public expectations.

When Selmor took the stage at the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts, performing at the Pakare Paye Arts Centre—a stage built by her father—it was the first time in seven years that she had been allowed to perform there.

Those seven years were filled with bottled-up grief, emotions held back, and perhaps a yearning for resolution that never came.
Grief isn’t just about missing someone; it’s also about the unresolved feelings that linger long after the loved one has passed.

For Selmor, it wasn’t just about mourning her father; it was about mourning the loss of connection, of opportunities denied, and of relationships left broken.

Performing her father’s soul-searching song Changu Chii was more than a tribute—it was a plea, an outpouring of all the unspoken emotions she had buried for years.
As she stood on that stage, Selmor reflected on her father’s legacy, thanking him for creating a platform like Pakare Paye, but also lamenting that the dreams he had for his family weren’t being realized. In front of a large audience, she asked, “Kusvika rinhi muchindirwira? Ndosvika rinhi ndisingakwanise kuita semwana waMtukudzi?” (“Until when will I be hindered? Until when will I not be able to live as Mtukudzi’s child?”) It was a public acknowledgment of the deep familial rift that had overshadowed her grief—an open wound in her heart.

Grief, like the sea, can appear calm on the surface, but underneath there are strong undercurrents, ready to surge up with the slightest change in emotional winds.

For Selmor, performing on that stage was like navigating the rough waters of her grief. On the outside, she had carried on for years, but standing in the place her father built, the emotions she had repressed for so long came rushing to the surface. The stage became a place not only of performance but also of catharsis—a place where she could no longer suppress the tidal wave of pain that had been building inside her.

When we lose a loved one, especially someone who played a central role in our lives, the grief can become intertwined with other unresolved issues—things left unsaid, conflicts never resolved. For Selmor, the situation was even more complex because her stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi, had barred her from the very place that represented her father’s legacy. These family dynamics, full of tension and exclusion, only deepened her grief. It wasn’t just her father she was mourning; it was also the relationship she might have had with him if things had been different.

Social media buzzed with reactions to Selmor’s emotional breakdown on stage. People had their own interpretations, opinions, and judgments about her public display of vulnerability. But what many failed to understand is that grief is not something that can be controlled or timed. It can come crashing in at the most unexpected moments—just like a wave that appears out of nowhere on a calm sea.

Grief is a deeply personal experience, and it often resurfaces in the places and moments we least anticipate. For Selmor, it was standing on the stage her father built—a place that should have been full of joyful memories but had instead become a symbol of her exclusion and pain.

Her performance that day was not just an act of artistic expression; it was a release of the emotional weight she had carried for so long.
At its core, grief is not something that can be resolved or “fixed.” It is something we carry with us, and though time may soften its edges, it never fully disappears.

There may be days when the sea of grief is calm, and other days when the waves come crashing in. For Selmor, standing on that stage, the wave of grief crashed down hard, reminding us all that grieving is a continuous process—not a linear one, but one filled with moments of quiet reflection and unexpected emotional storms.

We may think we have crossed the mythical line of closure, but the reality is that grief never truly ends. It becomes part of who we are, shaping us, challenging us, and sometimes catching us off guard.

Like Selmor, we all have moments when the emotions we thought we had buried rise up, reminding us that grief is a journey without a final destination—an ocean of memories, pain, and love that we will continue to navigate for the rest of our lives.

Several Injured In Karoi Horror Crash

By Crime and Court Reporter- Police (ZRP) has confirmed the number of people injured in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday morning along the Harare–Chirundu Road.

In a statement, the ZRP reported that one person was killed and fifteen others injured when a Bolt Cutter bus, carrying thirty passengers, collided with the trailer of a Columbia Freight Liner Truck that was turning right onto the Harare–Chirundu Road from the Buffalo Downs truck stop.
The impact caused the bus to veer off the road, overturning and landing on its left side.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Karoi Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, while the injured people were admitted to the same hospital.
There is a discrepancy regarding the number of injured persons, as the police reported fifteen injuries, while Hurungwe district development coordinator and chairperson of the Civil Protection Unit, Andrew Tizora, initially stated that eighteen individuals were injured.

Of those, four were transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Tizora said that fourteen others are currently admitted at Karoi District Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Real Madrid In Another Fortunate Win

Fix Your Brakes For Efficiency

Road safety is a paramount concern for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. Among the various factors that contribute to safe driving, the condition of a vehicle’s braking system is crucial.

Faulty brakes can lead to devastating accidents, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance and awareness.

The Importance of Brakes

Brakes are one of the most vital components of a vehicle. They allow drivers to slow down or stop, which is essential for avoiding collisions. When brakes fail, the consequences can be catastrophic, leading to serious injuries or fatalities. Common causes of brake failure include worn-out brake pads, air in the brake lines, and malfunctioning brake systems.

Signs of Faulty Brakes

To ensure safety on the road, drivers should be vigilant for signs of brake issues:

  1. Squeaking or Grinding Noises: These sounds often indicate that brake pads are worn out and need replacement.
  2. Soft or Spongy Brake Pedal: This could signal air in the brake lines or fluid leaks, reducing the system’s effectiveness.
  3. Vibrations: If the brake pedal vibrates when pressed, it may suggest warped rotors, which require immediate attention.
  4. Pulling to One Side: If the vehicle pulls to one side while braking, it could indicate uneven brake wear or issues with the brake system.
  5. Warning Lights: Many modern vehicles are equipped with warning lights that signal brake problems. Ignoring these alerts can have dire consequences.

The Role of Regular Maintenance

Regular brake inspections and maintenance are essential for preventing failures. Drivers should adhere to the following best practices:

  • Routine Inspections: Have brakes checked at least once a year or more frequently if you notice any warning signs.
  • Timely Repairs: Address any issues promptly to avoid further damage and ensure optimal performance.
  • Brake Fluid Checks: Regularly check brake fluid levels and replace it as recommended, typically every two years.
  • Professional Assistance: Always consult a qualified mechanic for thorough inspections and repairs, especially if you’re unsure about the condition of your brakes.

Educating Drivers

Awareness and education are key to preventing accidents caused by faulty brakes. Drivers should understand the importance of brake maintenance and recognize the signs of potential failure.

Additionally, defensive driving practices—such as maintaining a safe following distance and anticipating traffic conditions—can mitigate risks even if brake issues arise.

In summary, maintaining a vehicle’s braking system is essential for road safety. Faulty brakes can lead to serious accidents, making regular inspections and prompt repairs critical.

By staying informed and proactive, drivers can protect themselves and others on the road,

contributing to a safer driving environment for everyone. Prioritizing brake maintenance not only enhances vehicle performance but also saves lives..

Top Mnangagwa Spy Caught Pants Down

Michael Phineas Sikanyika

By Letter To The Editor: Please help me make our community aware of this womanising monster. His name is Michael Phineas (Sikanyika). He was an intelligence officer until early this year when I heard he was promoted to deputy ambassador in the Netherlands. I’m not sure how accurate that post is. This man is a con artist and a womaniser, to say the least. I rented out my house to him, and I, too, fell victim to his lies and schemes. Simba, if I didn’t know better, I would say this man uses charms or witchcraft. Even when you are aware of his crooked behaviour, when he wants something from you, you find yourself giving it to him against your will. When he moved out, I honestly felt a weight lifted off of me. He carries a strange burden, and even the atmosphere in the house changes when he leaves.
I didn’t realise the extent of his fraudulent behaviour until people started coming after him. One person lost $3,000 after being promised he would use his rebate to import a car for them. Others were sold forms from the Ministry of Lands, promising land that didn’t exist. Double sales of stands. Women he used and defrauded money from were told that he was about to leave, and he paid for an advance ticket for them to join him. He is a serious womaniser. His wife even reached a point where she left for Poland just to escape the drama. Even after he got promoted, she refused to go and stay with him in the Netherlands because she’s tired. Sources close to her say she prefers to enjoy the benefits from a distance.
I gave him floor tiles worth $400 and never got my money. He targets women with money or those he thinks he can prey on. He took advantage of many people when he was the Officer in Charge (OI) in Bindura. I know where he is now, people will lose their money, being promised fake jobs, among many other things. I don’t even know how he got promoted to a diplomatic post. But please help me warn the world about this fraudulent monster and help those looking for him to locate him and bring him to justice. He ripped off so many people of their hard-earned money, especially considering the difficult situation in Zimbabwe. If you put out a post about him, you’ll see how the comment section will blow up. Many people who came looking for him said he used his position to intimidate them from reporting him. No one should be above the law, especially when it comes to defrauding people like he did.”

Mnangagwa Desperately Seeks Diplomatic Support in Cuba

By A Correspondent

In a notable diplomatic move, Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s close aide, Taurai Kandishaya, has traveled to Cuba to bolster support for the embattled Zimbabwean leader. This visit comes at a critical time as Mnangagwa faces growing challenges back home.

Upon his arrival in Havana, Kandishaya received a warm reception.

He remarked, “A revolutionary welcome was extended to me by Cde Mirthia, Cuba’s Head of External Affairs in the Youths Wing, accompanied by none other than His Excellency Ambassador P. Chikawa, our Zimbabwe representative to Cuba.”

This greeting underscores the historical camaraderie between Zimbabwe and Cuba, rooted in shared ideological principles.

In their discussions, Kandishaya emphasized the importance of youth involvement in strengthening bilateral relations.

He stated, “We had brief discussions on the role of young persons in strengthening existing relations between our two countries.”

This focus on youth reflects a broader strategy to engage the next generation in diplomatic efforts.

Cuba has long been a strategic ally for Zimbabwe, especially the Zanu PF regime.

Kandishaya’s visit appears to reaffirm this alliance, as he highlighted, “Let it be known that our relations are based on the principle of ideology.”

As Zimbabwe navigates its political landscape, the diplomatic efforts in Cuba could prove pivotal for Mnangagwa, reinforcing ties that have historically supported his government amid international scrutiny.

Chamisa Says Sri Lanka Elections A Beacon of Hope for Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has expressed optimism for his country’s political future, drawing inspiration from the recent election of Anura Kumara Dissanayake as the new President of Sri Lanka. In a statement released on Tuesday, Chamisa congratulated Dissanayake, emphasizing the significance of this electoral victory for Zimbabweans seeking change.

“CONGRATULATIONS to the new Sri Lanka President @anuradisanayake, on the victory in the Sri Lankan Presidential elections. It’s a remarkable turnaround for a man who just won 3% of the votes in the 2019 election,” Chamisa remarked.

This sentiment reflects his belief in the potential for political transformation, even in challenging circumstances.

Dissanayake’s victory, marking him as the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka, serves as a striking example of how quickly fortunes can change in politics.

Chamisa underscored this point by noting the dramatic shift from Dissanayake’s previous electoral performance, suggesting that similar opportunities for change could emerge in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

“Congratulations Sri Lanka,” Chamisa concluded, linking the South Asian nation’s experience to the aspirations of Zimbabweans who are yearning for a new political direction.

As Zimbabwe approaches its own electoral period, Chamisa’s comments resonate with many citizens who have been frustrated by the current administration’s governance.

By highlighting a successful democratic transition in Sri Lanka, he aims to inspire hope and encourage a renewed commitment to the fight for a more democratic and accountable government in Zimbabwe.

Shock As Pregnant Woman Is Caught with Mbanje

Zanu PF’s Strategy to Undermine Opposition Exposed

Mnangagwa Pampers Chiefs With Luxury Vehicles To Secure Rural Vote

By Political Reporter-In a brazen display of power and patronage, President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday handed over nearly 90 luxury ISUZU Double Cab vehicles to traditional leaders, a move widely seen as a reward for their role in helping Zanu PF manipulate rural voters during elections.

The handover ceremony, a continuation of Zanu PF’s longstanding strategy of using traditional chiefs as political enforcers, comes at a time when the ruling party faces growing discontent in urban areas and is increasingly reliant on rural votes to maintain its grip on power.

Chiefs, long revered as custodians of culture and authority in Zimbabwe’s rural communities, have been co-opted by Zanu PF, tasked with coercing villagers into voting for the ruling party through intimidation, threats of land seizure, and social exclusion.

Zanu PF’s relationship with traditional leaders is not new. During the liberation war in the 1970s, the party sought the allegiance of chiefs, viewing them as vital in controlling rural populations where the majority of Zimbabweans resided.

Although initially resistant, many chiefs were eventually won over or coerced, and after independence in 1980, Zanu PF institutionalized this relationship.

Under President Robert Mugabe, chiefs were granted privileges, including vehicles, monthly allowances, and land rights.

In exchange, they were expected to deliver votes in rural constituencies, where Zanu PF has historically enjoyed overwhelming support.

Traditional leaders were empowered to influence political and social life in villages, often threatening to withhold government assistance or development projects from those perceived to support opposition parties.

As opposition movements, like the MDC and more recently the CCC, gained traction in urban centers, Zanu PF’s reliance on rural strongholds deepened.

Chiefs became critical to ensuring victory in tightly contested elections.

Traditional leaders were routinely gifted luxury items or financial incentives in the run-up to major elections, reinforcing their loyalty to the ruling party.

Mnangagwa, who came to power in 2017 following a military coup, has continued this legacy of patronage politics.

Like Mugabe before him, he understands the importance of securing the rural vote, particularly as his administration faces accusations of corruption, economic mismanagement, and human rights abuses.

By showering chiefs with luxury cars, Mnangagwa is reinforcing their role as key political brokers in rural areas, ensuring that they continue to intimidate and coerce voters in favour of Zanu PF.

This strategy has proven effective in past elections, where reports of chiefs threatening to evict villagers or cut off access to food aid if they voted for opposition candidates were widespread.

Mnangagwa’s gift of vehicles to chiefs just a year after a contested election is a stark reminder of the lengths Zanu PF is willing to go to maintain power.

As the 2028 election cycle looms, the ruling party’s manipulation of traditional authority is expected to intensify, further eroding the democratic process in Zimbabwe.

This practice not only compromises the integrity of elections but also undermines the traditional role of chiefs as impartial leaders who should represent the interests of all villagers, regardless of political affiliation.

Such tactics have led to widespread criticism, with opposition parties and civil society groups accusing Mnangagwa of weaponizing traditional institutions to entrench his rule.

As Zimbabwe grapples with an economic crisis, political repression, and international isolation, the pampering of traditional leaders with top-range vehicles sends a clear message: Zanu PF will do whatever it takes to cling to power, no matter the cost to democracy or the nation’s development.

Zanu PF In Urgent Meeting

Political Reporter Zanu PFis is holding an emergency Politburo meeting to discuss the delegates attending its upcoming conference in Bulawayo next month.

Last week, the party deployed senior members to oversee a cell and village verification program across the country’s ten provinces.

This move is seen as part of the preparations for the conference, which is set to shape the future of the party’s leadership.

Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa announced yesterday, “The Secretary General of Zanu PF, Obert Mpofu, wishes to advise all members that there will be a Politburo meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 12 noon at Zanu PF headquarters. All members should be seated by 11:45 a.m.”

Preparations for the national conference are reportedly at an advanced stage, with a reduced number of delegates expected this year. Zanu PF National Chairman, Oppah Muchinguri, noted that the gathering would focus on evaluating the implementation of key policies.

However, this meeting is widely seen as a strategic move by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to weaken Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s support base ahead of the critical conference.

The traditionally large-scale event is expected to confirm the party’s candidate to succeed Mnangagwa in the 2028 elections.

As Mnangagwa’s deputy, Chiwenga has positioned himself as a contender for the top job.

But Mnangagwa, facing constitutional term limits, is reportedly manoeuvring to extend his tenure beyond the two-term limit, rallying loyalists to block Chiwenga’s ascent.

Is Mnangagwa Regime Failing To Arrest Corruption?

By A Correspondent

In a candid acknowledgment of the pervasive corruption plaguing Zimbabwe, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga delivered a striking address at the Chartered Governance and Accountability Institute annual conference in Victoria Falls last week.

His comments shed light on the critical challenges facing the nation and the government’s commitment to tackling these issues.

Chiwenga stated, “It is important to recognise that corruption represents a serious threat to our nation’s progress, distorting markets, undermining the rule of law and eroding public function as professionals in key positions across both private and public institutions.”

This admission highlights the depth of corruption’s impact on Zimbabwean society, indicating a need for urgent reform.

The Vice President emphasized the government’s resolve to work alongside the private sector to cultivate a corruption-free environment.

He outlined a multi-faceted strategy: “The government of Zimbabwe is committed to collaborating with the private sector to create a corruption-free ecosystem through vigorous enforcement of anti-corruption laws, fostering strong partnerships, enhancing public awareness and providing advanced protection for whistleblowers.”

This approach signals a proactive stance against corruption, aiming to establish a culture of accountability and transparency.

Chiwenga also called upon businesses to play an active role in combating corruption, stating, “By upholding the principles of good governance and actively participating in anti-corruption initiatives, the private sector can demonstrate its commitment to ethical business practices and contribute to a brighter future for our nation.”

His appeal for collaboration suggests that the fight against corruption requires collective efforts from all sectors of society.

In a forward-looking note, Chiwenga addressed the potential of technology in improving governance and operational efficiency.

He remarked, “Artificial intelligence and automation can be instrumental in transforming our various sectors by improving efficiency, accuracy and broad protection.”

However, he cautioned against over-reliance on technology, asserting, “However, technology alone is not enough, because technology was made by a human being, so on its own it is not enough.” This statement underscores the importance of human agency in ensuring ethical practices and accountability.

Chiwenga’s statements reflect a crucial turning point in Zimbabwe’s approach to governance.

As the country grapples with corruption, his call for partnership, ethical business practices, and technological integration offers a path forward that prioritizes integrity and national progress.

How Did 35 Bikes Disappear In Police Custody?

BREAKING NEWS: 35 Motorbikes Mysteriously Vanish in Police Custody—How Did This Happen?

Harare, Zimbabwe –The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), 35 motorbikes seized as evidence in a criminal case have mysteriously disappeared while under the custody of the police. The bikes, valued at an estimated US$87,500, were supposed to be secured by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) but vanished before they could be returned to their rightful owner, Tony Sarpo. This development has left citizens and legal experts alike questioning: how is it possible for such valuable exhibits to vanish under police watch?

The Case Unfolds

The case centers around Wayne Williams and Regis Maburutse of Yagden Engineering Pvt Ltd., who were arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) following complaints regarding the missing motorbikes. The bikes were initially seized by the CID’s Commercial Crimes Division as exhibits in an ongoing trial but were kept in a Yagden warehouse, rather than the police station, raising questions about the handling of critical evidence oai_citation:8,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results oai_citation:7,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results – Zimbabwe Situation.

Magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura had acquitted Sarpo of charges in March 2023 and ordered the release of the motorbikes. However, when Sarpo sought to retrieve the bikes, they had disappeared, allegedly “disposed of” during the trial while they were still under police protection. This has triggered significant outrage, with critics pointing fingers at the ZRP for negligence, if not outright corruption oai_citation:6,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results – Zimbabwe Situation.

The Investigative Question: How Can Bikes Disappear in Police Custody?

The disappearance of these motorbikes raises serious questions about the systems in place to safeguard evidence in police custody. Could this be due to administrative inefficiencies, or does it indicate deeper-rooted corruption within the force?

1. Failure of Evidence Management Systems

Scholarly research into evidence management practices highlights the importance of strict chain-of-custody procedures to prevent the loss or tampering of evidence. In well-functioning systems, every movement of an exhibit is documented, and it is secured in official storage facilities with controlled access. However, in the case of Zimbabwe, several reports have pointed to systemic failures in record-keeping and corruption, which may create loopholes through which valuable items disappear oai_citation:5,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results.

A study on law enforcement in developing countries emphasizes that inadequate infrastructure, poor accountability systems, and corruption can lead to the mismanagement of evidence. The fact that the motorbikes were stored in a private warehouse instead of a police evidence room only heightens suspicions oai_citation:4,2023 Zimbabwean general election – Wikipedia.

2. Corruption and Lack of Accountability

Instances of exhibits disappearing while in police custody are not entirely unprecedented. Similar cases of lost or tampered evidence have been reported in other jurisdictions, with some studies indicating that police corruption plays a significant role. In environments where law enforcement officers are underpaid or under-supervised, opportunities for theft or unlawful sale of confiscated items may arise. The Zimbabwean police force has faced several allegations of corruption over the years, which could explain the disappearance of the motorbikes oai_citation:3,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results.

3. The Role of the National Prosecuting Authority

Adding to the complexity is the NPA’s delay in setting a trial date, which has fueled speculation of a coordinated effort to obstruct justice. Despite ZACC completing its investigation and forwarding the docket to the NPA, the case has stagnated. Prosecutor General Loice Matanda-Moyo acknowledged receiving a formal complaint regarding the case but has yet to take decisive action oai_citation:2,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results – Zimbabwe Situation.

Possible Scenarios

Several theories have emerged to explain the disappearance of the motorbikes:

  • Negligence: The lack of a proper evidence management system could have led to the bikes being misplaced or stolen, with no one held accountable.
  • Deliberate Disposal: There are allegations that the motorbikes were disposed of during the trial, potentially indicating corrupt dealings between law enforcement officers and third parties.
  • Compromised Evidence Storage: The decision to store the motorbikes in a private warehouse rather than a secure police facility raises concerns about whether this was done to obscure their whereabouts and allow for illegal sale.

Broader Implications for Trust in the Justice System

The ongoing delays by the NPA and the inaction of the police have deepened public mistrust in the Zimbabwean justice system. This case is emblematic of a broader trend in which high-profile cases involving corruption and criminal misconduct drag on for years without resolution. As legal experts point out, these delays not only undermine the rule of law but also erode confidence in state institutions oai_citation:1,Carter Center Finds Deep Flaws in Zimbabwe Elections and Calls for Release of Polling-Station Level Results – Zimbabwe Situation.

The disappearance of the motorbikes remains under investigation, but for many Zimbabweans, it has become yet another example of a justice system in crisis.- Agencies

Fix healthcare system first

By Linda Tsungirirai Masarira

24 September 2024

The healthcare crisis in Zimbabwe is reaching critical levels, with millions of citizens unable to access even the most basic services. The high cost of medical insurance, compounded by the need for out-of-pocket payments, disproportionately affects low-income workers, senior citizens, and civil servants. Many are forced to pay shortfalls even when they have medical aid, pushing already vulnerable populations further into poverty and causing unnecessary suffering.

We can not ignore the tragic reality that more than 60% of Zimbabweans are dying prematurely because of their inability to afford healthcare. This is not only a health crisis but a national security threat. A population plagued by poor health is a population at risk. A nation where its people can not access healthcare is a nation on the brink of disaster.

The shenanigans in the health insurance sector must be condemned in the strongest terms. Health insurance in Zimbabwe is not fulfilling its purpose to protect the people. It has become a profiteering venture at the expense of human life. The government must recognize that healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy. The lack of concern for public health is deeply troubling and unacceptable in a country that claims to value its citizens.

It is crucial to highlight that the current healthcare system is in
?????? ????????? ?? ??????? ?? ?? ??? ???????????? ?? ????????, which explicitly enshrines the right to access basic healthcare services. This section makes it clear that no person should be denied emergency medical treatment, and more importantly, that ?? ??? ?????? ?? ?????? ?????? ?? ?????????? ??????? ?? ????? ????????? ??????????. The government of Zimbabwe has failed to uphold this constitutional obligation, leaving millions of Zimbabweans without the medical care they need to survive.

The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and yet, the health sector is flagrantly disregarding these provisions. This neglect has not only created a two-tier system where the rich can access healthcare while the poor suffer, but it has also led to preventable deaths. The government’s failure to comply with this fundamental right is an infringement on human dignity and a national disgrace.

??? ??? ???????: ? ??? ?????????? ?????? ??? ????????

To address this crisis, we propose the immediate implementation of
???? ????? ?????????? ??? ????? ?????????? in all public hospitals and local authority clinics. This is not only a moral obligation but also an economic imperative. Healthy citizens are productive citizens. Access to healthcare should never be dependent on one’s financial standing.

Furthermore, we call for ???? ?????????? ??? ??? ?????? ???????? ??? ????? ????????? ???? ??????? ????????. These conditions are life-threatening and require constant care, which should not be subject to financial barriers. It is time we prioritize the lives of our people by removing the burdens that prevent them from seeking treatment.

Finally, ????????? ??? ????????????? ?????????? ??? ??? ???????? ??? ??? (??????-????? ????????) ??????? must be guaranteed. No one should ever be interrogated or made to wait for medical assistance after an accident or assault. Time is of the essence in these situations, and delaying care could mean the difference between life and death.

These proposals are not beyond our reach. With political will and a commitment to serving the people, Zimbabwe can achieve a healthcare system that truly reflects the values of equality, dignity, and compassion. The government must step up to protect the health of its citizens, for a nation that fails to care for its people will surely fail in every other regard.

This is not just a healthcare issue. It is a matter of life and death, and we can not afford to look away any longer.

ZEC Sill To Release Polling Station Results for 2023 Presidential Election

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Still to Release Polling Station-Based Presidential Results of 2023 Elections

Harare, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has yet to release polling station-based results for the 2023 presidential elections, leading to widespread speculation and increasing tension among political stakeholders and the public. This delay has fueled criticism of the electoral body’s transparency and efficiency, with political parties and civil society groups questioning the integrity of the electoral process.

Despite public outcry, ZEC Chairperson, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, has remained steadfast, emphasizing the need for electoral reforms rather than focusing on the controversies that marred the recent election cycle. Addressing delegates at a post-election review conference in Nyanga, Justice Chigumba spoke about the underlying electoral disputes, hinting at systemic issues within Zimbabwe’s election framework. However, she remained silent on the delayed release of the crucial polling station-based results that would allow a thorough audit of the 2023 presidential outcome.

“The differences we have as stakeholders on the electoral process in Zimbabwe are perpetuated by our failure to correctly diagnose the problems in order to prescribe effective solutions,” Justice Chigumba said, urging stakeholders to approach electoral reforms with a cooperative mindset. However, for many, her statements have done little to quell growing concerns surrounding the opacity of the election results.

Calls for Transparency

Political parties, particularly opposition groups, have continuously demanded that ZEC release detailed polling station results, which would allow for the verification of the official results announced. In the aftermath of the election, many stakeholders anticipated a swift release of the polling station-level breakdown, as this has become an essential transparency measure in electoral processes globally.

Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections were contentious, with accusations of irregularities and a heavily disputed presidential race. By withholding polling station-based results, ZEC has deepened skepticism regarding the legitimacy of the election. Civil society organizations and election monitoring bodies have criticized the delay, with some claiming that this lack of transparency compromises the ability to conduct an independent audit.

“Polling station results are the most granular and transparent form of election data,” said one election observer who wished to remain anonymous. “Without them, it’s nearly impossible to verify whether the tallied national results reflect the true will of the people. ZEC’s silence is worrying, especially in a highly polarized environment like Zimbabwe.”

ZEC Defends Its Position

Justice Chigumba, speaking at the review conference, suggested that electoral disputes could be minimized if political stakeholders agreed on reforms ahead of time. “The purpose of this review workshop is therefore not to point fingers at one another but to brainstorm and come out with proposals on how we should reform our processes so that they meet the expectations of the majority of stakeholders,” she stated.

While acknowledging that electoral change is often needed, she warned against frequent reforms that could confuse voters and disrupt the electoral process. However, her remarks were notably silent on why ZEC had yet to release the much-anticipated polling station-based results.

Justice Chigumba’s stance has frustrated many who see the delayed results as a deliberate attempt to evade scrutiny. Opposition leaders argue that without these results, it is impossible to independently verify the overall election outcome. “The failure to release polling station-based results is an affront to democracy,” said a spokesperson for the main opposition party. “Transparency should be non-negotiable.”

Increasing Tensions

The delay has only worsened political tensions, with the opposition hinting at legal challenges and public protests if the results are not released soon. With emotions running high, some fear that continued silence from ZEC could lead to instability. Political analysts note that the lack of transparency in Zimbabwe’s electoral process could have long-term consequences for the country’s democratic development.

As ZEC continues to deliberate on potential electoral reforms, pressure mounts for the immediate release of the polling station-based results. Many believe that until ZEC takes this crucial step, discussions about future reforms will be overshadowed by questions about the 2023 election’s legitimacy.

For now, Zimbabwe waits anxiously, as the delayed results threaten to unravel what remains of public confidence in the electoral system.- Agencies

Lungu Should Disclose His Economy Recovery Roadmap Instead Of Lawlessness

By Mark Simuuwe | We expect the losing 2021 PF candidate Edgar Lungu to give us his solution to the problems Zambia is facing so as to persuade electorates , not the anger and lopsided propaganda we are getting from him .

The sequence of his discussions is difficult to follow .

We expect a debate of substance from someone calling himself former president, not the embarrassment we are seeing of proposing lawlessness and crying over lost power .

ECL , PF and all Opposition are still nursing wounds from 3 successive by-elections in which they came out bruised . They can’t see that even with the challenges of electricity triggered by the drought , citizens still can’t listen or trust them . Pa last ati let’s force ourselves. You will be arrested sir ! We have laws in Zambia.

Just use your mouth within the confines of freedom of expression not alternative methods you are proposing . It will end in tears .

Now that he has realized that citizens do not still trust him , he is even giving us more reasons as to why they voted him out . Exactly that arrogance of power and wanting to get into political office by force . In 2021 , he dared citizens that he was going to hand over power to himself whether Zambians wanted or not .

Today he is back with the same arrogance that “ like it or not , I will be on the ballot “. It does not work like that . Allow the court to do their job sir . Your attempts and debates on a matter that is in court also amount to subjudice . Under normal circumstances , you are supposed to be arrested.

Bushe ba Lungu , ama politics lubuli ?

It seems you don’t learn sir and it is becoming increasingly difficult to follow along your sequence of debates especially when you want to overlook lawful means of ascending to power.

Now listen sir , you better come with a sober debate , otherwise your anger to matters of law surrounding Concourt judges won’t change presidential powers provided under Article 144(3) .

Your argument as a lawyer must be premised on the law not desperation and bitterness .

If you have an interest in those judges , bring them back yourself so we see if you have such powers .

ECL is the same man who threatened to dissolve the whole judiciary during the hearing of his matter , on whether he could stand for the 3rd time or not.

He should not be hypocritical today and think we have forgotten his style of leadership. If judges are aggrieved , they will go to court . ECL is not one of them that he should be more angry than them .

What will happen if it is established that some of the judges are suspended on matters of corruption and those making noise are involved ? Will ECL accept to be an accomplice?

Those cheering lopsided tantrums ought to know that soon more details will come out and they will discover that some of those showing anger are actually the reason we are where we are.

ECL thinks by making himself go on rampage breaking the law by inciting civil disobedience or violence will earn him support . It does not work that way . Those are outdated politics sir . In this era , you get caged when you use unlawful means .

ECL must appreciate that even if many people believed he belonged to jail , he is still allowed to practice his democratic rights.

Let him remember that he is not immuned to prosecution in perpetuity .

Our old man is offside and seems to be failing to manage his political appetite and extreme anger . Well , if he goes in , all those who are cheering will scamper ! They will have to run for their lives for being accomplices .

I guess , he has dared his friend enough and one day he will get what he is looking for . He ruined this country by hate speech , and bloodshed , and people have died yet he is alive himself. He should not take the silence of relatives of those who have died under his watch for granted .

Further , ECL should not think he can pretend to have solutions to the problems he created . He has never produced any road-map to economic recovery and he has non. .

Aspiring for presidency doesn’t require breaking the law and setting the country into confusion. It requires a message of convincing voters , not undermining each other .

Let him just tell us his roadmap for economic recovery since he has never produced one from the time he joined politics.

Who Benefits from the New UEFA Champions League Format?

Who Benefits from the New UEFA Champions League Format? …

The most esteemed event in domestic football resumed last week, and it is more expansive than ever – But can its quality truly improve?

The Champions League underwent a revitalisation with an increased number of clubs competing for greater prize money through additional matches against a wider array of opponents.

Who Benefits from the New UEFA Champions League Format? …

Club executives have consistently urged UEFA to enhance the premier event in club football, resulting in the adoption of a new single-standings league phase to supplant the conventional group stage.

The inaugural new Champions League model, the competition’s first major change since 2003, guarantees nearly all the desires of Europe’s most affluent and powerful teams.

Four more positions exist in a 36-team configuration; a minimum of eight matches per club instead of six; Champions League fixtures are slated for January for the first time; and a prize fund increase of at least 25% to a minimum of 2.5 billion euros.

What is the functionality of the new format? The Champions League’s conventional group-stage structure, which Has Been used for 21 seasons, is being discontinued. It may not have the bells and whistles, but true footy fans know this is the Super League we dreaded without the name change.

Let’s examine the new format in more detail and try to better understand who it really benefits!

How has the UCL format changed?

Previously, 32 teams were allocated into eight groups of four, each participating in six matches. Teams competed against each group opponent both at home and away from September to December. The leading two progressed to the round of 16. A distinct draw was conducted for each knockout round of home-and-away matches, leading to the single-game final.

Now, the new format (AKA the Super League in disguise) single-standings league is introduced. It includes 36 clubs, each competing in eight matches against eight distinct opponents until January. Teams receive a balanced schedule, competing against two adversaries from each of the four seeding pots.

The first eight teams in the standings advance directly to the round of 16 in March. They will be placed in a tournament bracket without distinct draws for each round leading to the final.

Teams positioned ninth to twenty-fourth will participate in a knockout playoff round in February. The lowest 12 teams are disqualified.

During the playoff round, clubs ranked Nos. 9-16 are designated to host the second leg matches against unseeded teams Nos. 17-24.

Who really benefits from the all-new UCL format?

I suppose we could take an unconventional view and suggest that some fans benefit from the new format, especially bettors who will have more UCL games to bet on than ever.

Let’s be honest: The trusted online bookmakers will receive more action than ever regarding Champions League betting, which for some is a positive result.

However, as the old saying goes: ‘Don’t fix what isn’t broken,’ so what is the rationale for altering a successful competition? Easy… The concise explanation is that clubs want increased revenue.

It’s all about the mullah!

The Champions League exemplifies the pinnacle of excellence in global football. It has enabled UEFA to allocate billions in prize money generated from international television and sponsorship agreements to teams that provide the greatest transfer fees and wages.

Those clubs sought to engage in additional matches that they considered prestigious against a broader array of high-calibre adversaries.

How did major clubs have so much pulling power over UEFA? Well, the old-fashioned method way… threats!

UEFA Threatened by the Super League

Clubs complained that the group stage became very monotonous, with just three opponents, and was devoid of excitement. Increased competition against formidable adversaries would be more esteemed by broadcasters, audiences, and prospective fans globally.

Their influence over UEFA was the prospective establishment of a rival tournament. In early 2021, the prominent leaders of the European Club Association were engaged in negotiations with UEFA over Champions League reform while also devising their own Super League.

The Super League was initiated by 12 clubs from Spain, England, and Italy in April 2021 but collapsed within 48 hours due to fan outrage in England and concerns about governmental intervention.

One year later, UEFA widely approved the new Champions League structure we’re discussing today, which was mostly influenced by the dissident Super League teams. Therefore, while fans aren’t technically dealing with a Super League by name, they are by nature.

Benefits & Negatives

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the new format?

● The 36 teams are assured increased financial compensation and more brand visibility to a worldwide audience. To expedite their progress, players should engage in a greater number of high-quality games.

● The additional games – 189 for the competition compared to 125 over the preceding two decades – affirm the Champions League as the apex of club footy.

● Adding two more match rounds in January gives the Champions League a renewed presence in the increasingly congested football schedule. Could it overwhelm players, given that many were exhausted during the 2024 European Championship and with FIFA set to begin its month-long Club World Cup next June?

● Eight clubs in the Champions League round of 16 will have completed ten matches to qualify, in contrast to only six in the previous version. Europe will dispatch 12 teams—11 participating in the current Champions League edition—to the forthcoming FIFA club event, with each side competing in a minimum of three and a maximum of seven matches in the United States next summer.

● Will the additional prize money be allocated judiciously? Although the rapid increase in expenditures on player transfers has decelerated this European summer, the salaries of elite players continue to rise.

● Perhaps the biggest concern is that Mid-tier teams in premier domestic leagues and those in lower-ranked nations caution that the Champions League exacerbates the income disparity in European football and fosters more competitive imbalance.

Who benefits most? It’s clear as day that the big clubs, such as Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona, Man City, etc., are the biggest beneficiaries.

Final Thoughts: The Super League has arrived

Concerningly, most of the aforementioned, which could be categorised as ‘positive,’ can also be viewed as negative. It’s all about perspective, and I suppose only time will tell how this pans out.

However, one fact is certain: Although the new Champions League structure remains uncertain, the Super League has undeniably transitioned from mere speculation to reality. Last Tuesday night, it indeed materialised.

Women in Danger

When inclusion can mean a threat

The fight for gender equality has been a cornerstone of feminist movements worldwide. It aims to dismantle patriarchal structures and ensure equal opportunities for women. However, a new and complex debate has emerged at the intersection of feminism and transgender rights. Feminists argue that including transgender women in spaces reserved for biological women undermines feminist progress. Society and sports betting have much at stake. Check out the perspectives of those who feel transgenderism threatens the hard-won gains of feminism.

The Core of the Debate

The crux of the debate centers around the definition of womanhood. Feminists who advocate for sex-based rights argue that biological sex is unchangeable. They believe it underpins many forms of discrimination and oppression faced by women. They contend that opening women-only spaces and opportunities to transgender women undermines the recognition of these sex-based realities and the unique challenges faced by biological women.

Women-Only Spaces

One of the primary concerns is the impact on women-only spaces. For instance, shelters, prisons, and sports. These spaces were created to provide safety, support, and fair competition for biological women. Critics argue that allowing transgender women into these spaces compromises their original purpose.

  1. Safety Concerns in Shelters and Prisons Women’s shelters and prisons must protect from male violence. Critics claim that allowing transgender women into these spaces could endanger biological women. They argue that transgender women may not have experienced the same threats faced by biological women.
  2. Fairness in Sports The inclusion of transgender women in women’s sports has sparked controversy. Biological differences are advantages to transgender women over biological women in competitive sports. Critics argue that this undermines fair competition and the achievements of female athletes.

Erosion of Female-Centric Opportunities

Another point of contention is the erosion of opportunities designed to uplift biological women. Programs, scholarships, and initiatives are aimed to address the historical and systemic disadvantages faced by women. Critics argue that this dilutes the effectiveness of such programs.

  1. Scholarships and Awards Scholarships and awards are sometimes available to transgender women. Critics argue that this reduces the number of opportunities available to biological women. They believe this overlooks the unique challenges and needs of biological women.
  2. Political Representation Women have fought for greater representation in political spheres. Critics argue that including transgender women in female political quotas or spaces intended to amplify women’s voices shifts focus away from the specific issues faced by biological women.

The Feminist Perspective

The movement’s core principle is fighting against gender-based oppression. Recognizing the biological differences between men and women is crucial. It’s important for addressing issues like gender-based violence, reproductive rights, and workplace discrimination. Transgender women occupying spaces and opportunities meant for biological women overlook or minimize the distinct experiences and challenges faced by biological women.

The Transgender Perspective

Transgender argue that gender identity should determine inclusion in gendered spaces and opportunities. They emphasize that transgender women face significant discrimination and violence. Excluding them from women-only spaces exacerbates their marginalization. Transgender women seek recognition and inclusion as a fundamental aspect of their rights and dignity.

Striving for Balance

The debate between feminist and transgender rights is not easily resolved. It requires a nuanced understanding and a willingness to engage in difficult conversations. Striving for balance involves:

  1. Creating Inclusive Spaces Develop solutions that protect the rights and safety of both. This might include spaces for transgender individuals. It should not compromise the safety and integrity of women-only spaces.
  2. Policy and Guidelines Clear policies and guidelines can address the concerns of both groups. For instance, sports organizations might develop separate categories.
  3. Fostering Dialogue Understanding each other’s perspectives can lead to more empathetic and effective solutions.
How can we include it without harming the rights?

The intersection of transgender rights and feminism presents a complex and sensitive debate. Feminists argue that including transgender women in spaces meant for biological women undermines feminist progress. Transgender advocates emphasize the need for recognition and inclusion based on gender identity. Balancing the rights of both groups is essential for a more inclusive and equitable society. Open, respectful dialogue and thoughtful policies can help navigate this challenging terrain. This ensures the hard-won gains of feminism are preserved while advancing transgender rights.

Here’s an illustration symbolically representing the conflict between transgender women and biological women over shared spaces. It highlights the tension and need for understanding in a respectful manner.

Dramatic Showdown as UK Police Taser Zimbabwean Man Amid Gender-Targeting Claims

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | In a tense and emotionally charged encounter, UK police officers were captured in a six-minute video struggling to restrain a Zimbabwean man who repeatedly claimed he was being unfairly targeted because of his gender. The footage, now circulating widely online, shows the man resisting police orders, asserting that his arrest was motivated solely by the fact that the complainant is a woman.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, is heard in the video repeatedly shouting, “Just because she is a woman?” as officers attempt to de-escalate the situation. Despite repeated commands from the officers to place his hands behind his head, he remains defiant, arguing that he is being mistreated due to his gender.

As the confrontation unfolds, the officers can be seen drawing their tasers, warning the man that they would be forced to use the non-lethal weapon if he continued to resist. The atmosphere grows more intense as the man refuses to comply, standing his ground and continuing to argue that he is the victim of a gender-biased arrest.

the video

“You’re arresting me because I’m a man!” the man shouts back, as the officers maintain their distance, weapons drawn and aimed at him. The situation reaches a boiling point when one officer reiterates, “If you don’t put your hands behind your head, we’ll have no choice but to taser you.”

The dramatic footage captures the heart-pounding moments where police and the individual face off, with tensions rising as he remains uncooperative. Viewers of the clip are left gripped by the emotional strain on both sides, as officers seem determined to follow protocol, while the man’s frustrations over perceived injustice grow louder.

Moments before the officers moved to restrain him, the man could be heard calling out to bystanders, continuing his accusations of being targeted based on his gender. “She’s lying because she’s a woman!” he shouted, further adding to the emotionally fraught atmosphere.

Eventually, after a prolonged standoff, the officers appear to approach the man cautiously, before the video cuts off. It is unclear at this time whether the man was eventually subdued using the taser or if further negotiations took place off-camera.

The footage has since sparked widespread debate online, with many expressing their views on both sides of the incident. Some argue that the man’s claims of gender-based targeting deserve investigation, while others believe the police were simply doing their job in maintaining public safety.

As this developing story continues to unfold, the local police department has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. The viral nature of the video has drawn attention to the challenges police face in emotionally charged situations, and the questions raised about gender dynamics in cases of public disputes.

This is a developing story. More details to follow as authorities provide further updates.

Signs Of Faulty Brakes

Tshabangu, Welshman Ncube Wrestle For Power

The political landscape within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is becoming increasingly volatile as a fierce struggle for power unfolds between its interim leaders. Welshman Ncube, the party’s interim president, and Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General, are locked in a contentious battle for control, exacerbating the party’s existing challenges.

In a recent statement, Ncube made it clear that he believes he is firmly in charge of the party’s direction, declaring, “I am in charge.” This proclamation reflects not only his desire to solidify his leadership position but also highlights the growing divisions within the party ranks.

Conversely, Tshabangu has publicly contested Ncube’s assertion, insisting that he is the one steering the CCC through these turbulent times. This clash of authority raises significant concerns about the party’s stability and effectiveness, especially as it seeks to present a united front to its supporters and the wider electorate.

The CCC, once seen as a beacon of hope for Zimbabwe’s opposition politics, has struggled with internal cohesion, particularly following recent electoral setbacks and leadership disputes. The current power struggle threatens to deepen the rifts within the party, further complicating its efforts to mount a credible challenge to the ruling government.

Observers note that the discord between Ncube and Tshabangu may have far-reaching implications for the CCC’s future. With the party at a crossroads, the inability of its leaders to reconcile their differences could lead to a fragmentation that would weaken its political influence.

As tensions rise, both leaders face immense pressure to navigate this crisis effectively. The outcome of this struggle will likely determine not only the future of the CCC but also the broader dynamics of opposition politics in Zimbabwe. Without a unified strategy and a clear leadership structure, the party risks losing the support of its base and becoming irrelevant in the face of ongoing political challenges.

In summary, as Welshman Ncube and Sengezo Tshabangu vie for control, the CCC stands at a critical juncture. The implications of this internal conflict could reshape the party’s trajectory and its role in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

So Genarari Concedes Government Failure To Deal With Corruption?

Zimbabwe’s Tech Revolution: Startups Driving Innovation and Growth

By A Correspondent | In͏ recent years, Zimb͏a͏bwe has witnessed a ͏phenomena͏l rise in the tech͏ startup ͏ecosystem, emerging as the next hub͏ for innovation. ͏L͏et͏’s͏ take ͏a clo͏ser look into the rapidly g͏rowing ͏tech s͏t͏artups,͏ their contrib͏ution ͏to innov͏ation ͏and ͏economi͏c growth, ͏and the chal͏lenge͏s and o͏pportun͏ities ͏that lie ahea͏d for the star͏tups in t͏h͏e dyn͏amic dig͏ita͏l wo͏r͏ld.

The Rise of Zimbabwe Tech Startups.

Gone are the days when all that Z͏imbabwe used to͏ pride itself on was agricultural pro͏wess. Well, it is taking big steps in the technology world, and all for good reason: the country’s sta͏rtup scene has been͏ on overdrive͏ of late,͏ buoye͏d ͏by a perfect fusi͏on of even͏ts that have combined͏ t͏o cre͏ate the i͏de͏al b͏reeding grou͏nd for ͏innovation.

You might be wondering, “What’s behind this sudden tech boom?” Well, it’s not so sudden after all. It’s been brewing for a while, thanks to:

  • A tech-savvy youth population itching to make their mark
  • Improved internet access that’s connecting more Zimbabweans than ever
  • Government initiatives that are giving startups a much-needed boost.
  • A renewed focus on STEM education in universities
  • The Zimbabwean diaspora bringing back knowledge and investments

These ingredients have come together to cook up a vibrant ecosystem where innovative ideas aren’t just welcomed – they’re thriving.

The government has also jumped into the fray. Policies like the Zimbabwe National Policy for ICT and the Innovation Drive have kept showing that it means business in nurturing tech entrepreneurship. They are not just mere words; they have turned heads internationally, attracting investors and technology companies that are eager to get a piece of the action.

Driving Innovation in Zimbabwe: Key Sectors and Success Stories

Innovation in Zimbabwe is not confined to a single industry; rather, it spans across multiple sectors, each addressing unique challenges and opportunities within the local context.

Fintech Revolution

With a large population mostly unbanked and monetary problems in the past, fintech startups have dived deep into Zimbabwe. They were just not filling in some gaps but totally changing how Zimbabweans interact with money.

Take EcoCash, for example. It’s not just any other mobile money service; it has literally become a lifeline through which millions transact in a cash-stricken economy. That is just but the tip of an even bigger iceberg. Other startups are plunging into blockchain-in efforts at creating secure, transparent financial solutions that could alter the game altogether. Besides this, some other digital platforms dealing with online services and entertainment, such as bookmaker 1Win offers different payment options in cryptocurrencies, also benefiting from the growing online ecosystem.

Agritech Innovations

Given͏ Zimb͏abwe’s str͏ong͏ ͏agricu͏ltural roo͏ts, it͏’s n͏o surprise ͏th͏at agritech is fl͏ouri͏s͏h͏ing. These startups aren’t just twea͏king the system –͏ they’re overhauling it. Healthtech Advancements

The healthcare ͏sect͏or i͏sn’t͏ being left behind in this ͏tech͏ revo͏lution. In͏ a c͏ountry where access t͏o healthcare c͏an be challengi͏n͏g, especially in rural ͏ar͏eas, thes͏e ͏innovat͏ions ͏a͏re͏ q͏uite literally lifesavers.

Tech Entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe: Challenges and Opportunities

While impressive, the growth of tech entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe does not come without challenges; various challenges confront startups back home, which could impede their growth and success. Some of the biggest challenges include:

  • Scraping together funding, especially in those crucial early stages
  • Dealing with spotty power supply and internet connectivity
  • Navigating a maze of regulations and bureaucracy
  • Bridging the skills gap to find specialized tech talent

B͏ut here’s the thing – whe͏re the͏re͏ are ͏challenges, there are al͏so opportun͏ities. Zimbabwe’s͏ relatively ͏untapped ͏market is͏ a͏ goldmine for i͏nnovative solutions͏. It’s like a testing ground wh͏ere͏ start͏ups c͏an͏ fine-tune their ideas ͏befo͏re sca͏ling them͏ to other African countries.

Comparison with South Africa

Whe͏n y͏ou stack Zimb͏a͏bwe͏’͏s tech scene against͏ South Africa’s mor͏e established ecosy͏stem, ͏it m͏ight se͏em ͏like Da͏vid ͏facing Goliath. But that’͏s not ͏necessa͏rily ͏a bad thing. Zimb͏abwe’s les͏s ͏saturate͏d ͏marke͏t means ͏there’s room for rapid͏ ͏growth an͏d innova͏tion͏. And gue͏ss w͏hat? ͏So͏uth A͏frican͏ inv͏estors a͏nd incubators are starting to take notice, ey͏eing op͏portunities for collabo͏ration and expansion.

Impact on Zimbabwe Economic Growth: Present and Future Prospects

T͏ech startups in͏ Zimbabwe aren’t just about making cool apps, they are about building the country’s economic future. Such ͏innovative͏ firms will also be creators of jobs, mag͏nets of foreign investment, and put Zimbabw͏e on the m͏ap as a potential t͏ech hub in South͏ern͏ ͏Africa͏. While͏ ma͏ny challe͏nges͏ are ther͏e,͏ innovatio͏n cou͏pled ͏with resi͏lienc͏e by Zimbabwean entrepreneurs paints a ͏bright pic͏tur͏e of a future ahea͏d.

Stop It, Mzembi Challenges Mnangagwa Bootlickers To Drop Third Term Agenda

By Engineer Walter Mzembi

Should Zimbabweans yield to the whims and caprices of State House jesters & bootlickers ( Zvitambapanashe ) who include Tenderpreneurs , ” Prophets ” , Bishops , Pastors , Cabinet Ministers , rogue elements of the Youth and
Women ‘ s League of Zanu PF to shred a People ‘ s Constitution to satisfy a life Presidency (2030) ?

Why should this even be a subject in year one of a five year mandate ?
Is the Country short of leadership to see the President ‘ s vision to 2030 ?

Are these bootlickers life givers , ko mukoma vakadonha vanoitasei ?
Why should such a sacrosanct document like a Constitution be founded and altered on variables that they are not in control of ? Everyday that we wake up we thank God for the gift of life and good health , because we acknowledge that the breath of life only belongs to Him not man .

Stop it . Give Zimbabweans strong institutions that outlive man and that protect the weak , not strong men that roughshod over the weak and our institutions.

Should we allow such rank madness to even preoccupy us or we report these malcontents for intention to breach our Supreme Law to the nearest Police Station ?

Freedom of Speech is not Freedom to break our Supreme law .
We need Civil Class Action . Report these violators to the nearest Police Station even if its for the record for the future .

The President himself has publicly said he is a “Constitutionalist ” so are all right thinking law abiding citizens , but his commitment to Constitutionalism should be accompanied by public rebuke and a directive to lock up violators of our Constitution.

Only then can it make sense . His ” no thank you ” and public rebuke should be communicated to his Party before the October Conference seemingly turning itself into a ” Congress” to avoid the anarchy of succumbing to mob psychology .

He should direct there will be no ” Third Term ” agenda , talk , singing , sloganeering or whispers at this August gathering and there will be consequences for law breakers . A house without discipline falls. After this directive he will make sense.

Zimbabwe will not be blackmailed to the third generation by lawbreakers !

AuxiAuxillia Mnangagwa: The New ‘Queen of Cruelty’? Evictions, Street Kid Raids, and Power Grabs

By Political Reporter – President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia, has stirred controversy with her actions that echo the notorious reign of former First Lady Grace Mugabe.

Auxillia, often accused of being power-hungry and ruthless, has intensified her grip on land and social programs across the country, raising concerns about abuse of power and public funds.

In a move reminiscent of Grace Mugabe’s notorious land grabs, Auxillia has set her sights on Mazowe, specifically targeting Arnold Farm, near the scenic Mazowe Dam.

The villagers of Arnold Farm, also known as Manzou, have a dark history, having faced violent evictions under Grace Mugabe.

While a High Court order previously saved them from Grace’s clutches, they now face a renewed threat, this time from Auxillia.

Innocent Dube, spokesperson for the Arnold Farm Villagers Association, revealed that Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs Minister Christopher Magogo informed them that they would soon be removed to make way for Auxillia. “They came, pegged the land, and erected cabins, saying they were acting on behalf of the First Lady. 5,000 villagers are at risk of losing their homes,” Dube stated. One villager, still traumatized by Grace Mugabe’s reign, expressed fear: “In 2017, I was arrested and tortured after resisting Grace’s farm grab. I pray it doesn’t happen again.”

Auxillia’s ambition doesn’t stop at land grabs.

She has also conducted a controversial raid on street children in Harare’s CBD, forcibly relocating them to her children’shome in Chiredzi.

Harare City Council was reportedly strong-armed into funding her “social projects,” despite the strain on public resources.

In documents seen by NewsDay, government ministries and the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ) ordered Harare’s town clerk, Hosiah Chisango, to divert funds to Auxillia’s initiatives.

A letter from Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare permanent secretary Simon Masanga directed the city to financially support the relocation of street children to Auxillia’s Children’s Home.

Twenty children were removed from the streets and placed in the facility, which also enrolled them in local schools.

Additionally, funds were siphoned for other activities involving Auxillia, including the Junior Councillors National Conference and the SADC regional cookout competitions.

With Auxillia Mnangagwa’s actions drawing comparisons to Grace Mugabe’s infamous land seizures and lavish misuse of public resources, her growing influence over state affairs has triggered public outcry.

Many now view her as a symbol of unchecked power, worse than her predecessor.

Mnangagwa Calls For An Urgent Power-Struggle Meeting

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF-Zanu PF has called an emergency Politburo meeting for Wednesday to discuss the delegates attending its upcoming conference in Bulawayo next month.

Last week, the party deployed senior members to oversee a cell and village verification program across the country’s 10 provinces.

Harassment of Women at Boka Unacceptable

We have received multiple complaints about harassment of female passengers by touts and bus crews at the Boka pick-up point in Harare.

One female passenger reported that last week, she faced harassment from touts who, rather than offering assistance, forced her to board a bus.

Touts aggressively seized her bags and threatened her with violence for refusing to comply. We urge all stakeholders to take immediate action to protect the rights and safety of passengers.

Government Admits 15% Of Products In Zim Shops Are Fake

By A Correspondent

In Zimbabwe, a disturbing revelation has come to light: the government admits that a staggering 15% of the goods available for purchase in local shops are fake.

This acknowledgment underscores a deepening crisis in the country’s retail sector, where counterfeit products are proliferating amidst an economic meltdown, posing a significant threat to consumers and genuine businesses alike.

Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana publicly addressed the issue over the weekend, shedding light on the gravity of the situation.

He lamented, “Someone can just produce something and then give it a label that resembles a genuine product. In some instances, we even have television sets and cell phones with reputable labels, yet they turn out to be bogus.”

The proliferation of fake goods in Zimbabwe is not merely a matter of consumers being duped into purchasing substandard products. It represents a broader societal challenge, impacting everything from consumer safety to the integrity of the marketplace.

Counterfeit goods not only erode trust between buyers and sellers but also directly undermine legitimate businesses, siphoning off revenue and tarnishing brand reputations.

Local manufacturers and retailers have been left reeling from the influx of counterfeit goods that flood the market, often masquerading as popular branded items.

The presence of these fake products not only devalues genuine goods but also presents a real danger to consumers, many of whom may unwittingly purchase items that are substandard and potentially hazardous.

The government’s admission of the scale of the problem is a crucial step towards addressing the root causes of this crisis.

It underscores the urgent need for comprehensive measures to combat the production, distribution, and sale of counterfeit goods in Zimbabwe.

In response to these challenges, industry stakeholders are calling for heightened vigilance, stricter enforcement of regulations, and increased collaboration between government agencies, law enforcement, and the private sector.

By working together to bolster consumer protection measures and crack down on counterfeit operations, Zimbabwe can begin to stem the tide of fake goods and safeguard both its citizens and its economy.

As Zimbabwe grapples with economic instability and a proliferation of counterfeit goods, the words of Nick Mangwana serve as a sobering reminder of the urgent need for action.

Addressing the root causes of this crisis and restoring integrity to the marketplace will require a concerted effort from all sectors of society.

Barcelona In Controversial Win At Villarreal

Sports Correspondent

Barcelona rebounded from its first defeat of the season, a midweek loss to Monaco in the UEFA Champions League, with a strong performance against Villarreal. Under Hansi Flick, the team has now won all six of its league matches this season, despite a shaky start.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring with two goals in the first 35 minutes, but Villarreal quickly responded through Ayoze Perez. The hosts almost equalized early in the second half when Nicolas Pepe was narrowly ruled offside during a counter-attack.

Pablo Torre then extended Barcelona’s lead to 3-1 after the break. A potential fourth goal was denied when Lewandowski missed a penalty, hitting the post after a VAR review confirmed Lamine Yamal was fouled in the box.

Villarreal had another goal disallowed as Eric Bailly’s header was again called back for offside. Barcelona’s captain, Raphinha, added a deflected goal to make it 4-1, before scoring a fifth with a volley from a brilliant assist by Yamal.

However, Flick’s day was marred by the injury of goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who left the field on a stretcher just before halftime.

Factors Responsible for the Revenue Surge in the UK Online Gambling Industry

In the Q1 of 2024 to 2025 alone, the UK Gambling Industry has reached a £1.46bn billion revenue — a 12% increase compared to last year. It’s no news that the UK online gambling sector is one of the most regulated markets globally. The industry has several offerings that are doing so well too, including online casinos and sports betting.

The slots industry alone has a gross gambling yield increase of about 10%, which is roughly about £642 million. The number of spins has also skyrocketed to 22.4 billion, a staggering 12% increase from the same time last year. This growth is almost surreal, but not in the least unexpected. This article will explore eight reasons why the UK Gambling Industry is experiencing this growth surge.

Increased Availability of Online Casinos

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of online casinos on the internet today. Each of these casinos offers variety and accessibility that are unique to them — there are slot platforms and operators that focus on classic table games. These casinos are always open 24/7, and players can access them from anywhere in the world.

The UK Online Gambling Industry is experiencing revenue growth, recording a 12% surge in Q1 of 2024. Discover the factors fueling this increased revenue.

Players that want to play table games, like roulette and blackjack can go for them at the table games section, and players who would prefer slots games can access them at slots platforms. There is also a provision to play live dealer games, and many of these operators also offer sportsbook services, since sports betting is huge in the UK.

One of the things players will love most about these sites is their bonus offers. You can access various casino bonuses including welcome deposit bonuses, no deposit online casino bonuses, free spins, and more. The combination of accessibility, generous bonuses, and ease of use has increased the number of people who register and play at these platforms.

Advanced Technology and User Experience

Online gambling has changed from the “then” basic graphics and slow internet speed. Back then, transactions were insecure, and people worried about fraud or trusting platforms. But things are different now. Online casinos have invested in encryption technology and secure payment methods that keep players safe. Most platforms are also mobile optimized now, so players don’t have to deal with lags and slow page speed.

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) has also improved user experience. AI and ML can help casinos give players personalized game suggestions, and optimized betting odds.

As John Davies, a renowned gaming industry analyst says, “personalization AI keeps players engaged, and it can also build a loyal user base, which is important for revenue growth”, something the industry is experiencing at the moment.

There’s also the integration of AI into customer support to answer general questions players may have. One of the biggest, and most interesting features of online casinos yet is live dealer games. Live dealer games replicate the experience of being in a physical casino, which means you can play games with real people and a human dealer, without leaving the comfort of your home.

Mobile Gambling

Mobile gambling is the new rave. It’s changed how people interact with casino games, and how accessible these games are. Smartphones are more advanced now than ever, and players can enjoy quality time gaming on their phone as they would on the desktop.

Over 90% of UK residents own a smartphone, and a significant amount of these people prefer mobile gambling over desktop. Leading operators have capitalized on this trend, by developing dedicated apps and mobile-optimized websites for mobile users.

The UK’s online gambling market is fiercely competitive. Every operator knows it has to up its game, fiercely market itself, and roll out campaigns and strategies that can attract and retain customers. This is more than traditional advertising; online casinos now leverage influencer marketing, social media campaigns, and SEO-driven content to make themselves visible to players.

Affiliate marketing — a form of promotion where iGaming platforms engage popular people to say something nice about their platforms and encourage their followers to try their services is very prominent in the UK gambling space. These popular people — affiliates, create specialized traffic that talks about the perks of the platforms, to drive traffic to them.

These targeted campaigns can effectively turn casual visitors into regular players. Mark Simmons, a digit marketing expert, has this to say about this mode of promotion, “Affiliates and well-executed digital campaigns are the lifeblood of online gambling; they bring in the traffic and, more importantly, the deposits.”

Conclusion

The surge in the UK online gambling industry revenue in the Q1 of 2024-2025 is fueled by many factors. There’s the advanced technology that makes gambling easier, availability of casinos that makes it easy to register on any platform, the rise of mobile betting, increased technological adoptions, and investments in marketing endeavors. The rise of gambling in the United Kingdom right now comes down to one thing — gambling is way easier and more accessible now, so more people indulge in it.

ZiG Suffocates OK, Pick n Pay

By Business Reporter-Zimbabwe’s Intermediated Government (ZiG) currency has thrown the country’s retail industry into chaos, with major chains like OK Zimbabwe, Pick n Pay, SPAR, and Edgars warning of an impending collapse.

The Retailers Association of Zimbabwe (RAZ) has sounded the alarm, calling for urgent government intervention.

RAZ, which represents these major retailers, argues that the forced use of the overvalued official exchange rate is driving businesses into the ground.

This policy is making their products more expensive than those sold by unregulated tuckshops, which are able to operate using street rates.

In a letter to the government, RAZ declared that without swift and effective policy changes, Zimbabwe’s formal retail sector is on the verge of collapse.

“The situation is clearly untenable and will lead to company closures if authorities do not intervene with policy measures to protect the formal retail sector,” RAZ stated.

Employing nearly 20,000 people, the retail industry is a major revenue generator for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), contributing through key taxes such as PAYE, VAT, IMTT, withholding taxes, and corporate tax.

To keep up with skyrocketing supplier prices—who use street rates while retailers are bound by the official rate—supermarkets have been forced to raise their USD prices.

This has triggered real inflation, driving consumers away from formal shops and toward the informal market.

RAZ has proposed two key measures to stabilize the sector:

  1. Market-Determined Exchange Rate: Retailers want a dynamic pricing model that reflects real-time exchange rates, allowing them to remain competitive without incurring steep losses.
  2. Discounted Pricing: The association suggests keeping the official exchange rate but offering differentiated discounts to lower inflation in USD terms and stimulate demand.

In addition, RAZ is pushing for a more advisory role for the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), which they say has become overly punitive in its policing of retailers.

RAZ advocates for a collaborative approach, where they would share market data with the FIU to help refine economic policies, promoting a healthier relationship between the industry and regulators.

Without swift action, Zimbabwe’s biggest retail brands may soon disappear from the landscape, leaving a gaping hole in the economy and throwing thousands out of work.

Auxillia Mnangagwa Raids Street Kids

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia, has raided street children in the Harare CBD and relocated them to Chiredzi.

In the operation, Axillia ordered Harare City Council to fund what she says are her “social projects”.

NewsDay is in possession of letters from government ministries and the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ) directing the Harare municipality to participate financially in the First Lady’s programmes.

In a letter dated June 6, 2024 addressed to Harare town clerk Hosiah Chisango, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare permanent secretary Simon Masanga directed Harare to release money to fund the relocation of street children to Auxillia’s Children’s Home in Chiredzi.

Twenty children were removed from the streets and placed at Auxillia’s Children’s Home in Chiredzi. They were enrolled at nearby schools.

“As the chairperson of Harare task force on children working on the streets, your support is requested towards the removal and placement of children removed from central business district to Auuxillia Mnangagwa’s Children Home from 12th to 15th of June 2024,” the letter read in part.

On April 4, 2024, UCAZ wrote directing Chisango to release funds for female councillors to attend the junior councillors annual national conference held in Victoria Falls from 11th to 14th of the same month.

On July 9, 2024, Harare metropolitan province secretary for provincial Affairs and Devolution Cosmas Chiringa wrote to Chisango requesting the release of HCC official Chiruzi Selina to be part of the advance team to the Sadc regional cookout competitions in Victoria Falls held from July 24 to 29.

Chiwenga’s Political Career Hangs In The Balance

By Political Reporter-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s political career could end next month if he fails to up his game.

Zanu PF is planning to downsize the number of delegates attending the party’s annual conference, scheduled for October 22 to 27 in Bulawayo.

The party’s National Chairperson, Opah Muchinguri, announced this development at the weekend, citing logistical challenges, among other issues.

This decision is widely seen as a strategic move by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to weaken Chiwenga’s support base ahead of the crucial event.

The traditionally large-scale conference is expected to confirm the party’s candidate to succeed Mnangagwa in 2028.

As Mnangagwa’s deputy, Chiwenga is eyeing the top position, positioning himself as a potential successor.

However, Mnangagwa, who faces constitutional term limits, is reportedly keen on extending his rule beyond the two-term mandate, and is rallying his loyalists to block Chiwenga’s rise.

In her statement on Sunday, Muchinguri outlined the changes: “In preparation for this conference, the National Coordinating Committee, which I chair, has made critical decisions aimed at ensuring an impactful and efficient conference. One of the key measures we have taken is to reduce the number of delegates attending this year, drawing lessons from best practices we observed in other progressive nations like China. This year’s conference will not follow the traditional format where every member of the party attends. We have opted to limit participation to Politburo members, Central Committee members, National Consultative Assembly members, and senior provincial and district executives. This will ensure that the discussions and resolutions are rich in content, driven by critical thinking and rigorous debate, thus creating meaningful outcomes that will influence the course of our national policies.”

Many view this move as an attempt by Mnangagwa to consolidate power and isolate Chiwenga, reducing the chances of his deputy leveraging a larger support base to challenge for leadership.

Barcelona Secure Controversial Victory Over Villarreal

DeMbare Rue Missed Chances

Dynamos were left to rue a missed penalty after crashing out of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Glamour Boys lost 3-1 on penalties to Orapa United of Botswana in the second leg of the first round played at Obedi Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Sunday.

The encounter had ended 1-1 on aggregate after Orapa United won the return fixture 1-0 to cancel out Dembare’s 1-0 advantage from the first leg that was played last week.

Ivan Kamberipa scored the solitary goal for Orapa in the 78th minute.

The effort came after Dynamos’ Kevin Moyo missed a penalty in the first half.

Emmanuel Paga also had a goal disallowed earlier in the game for an offside.

In the penalty shootout, Lloyd Chigowe’s men missed three kicks, while Orapa converted all the penalties they took.

Orapa will now play in the group stage and will learn their opponents at a draw ceremony scheduled for 7 October.

Road Safety and the Critical Role of Brake Maintenance

Fake Products Flood Zim Shops

Mnangagwa Anti-Sanctions Demo Flops in New York

By A Correspondent

An anti-sanctions demonstration organized by Zanu PF sympathizers over the weekend in New York City turned out to be a complete failure, despite optimistic claims from government officials.

The event, which aimed to rally support for the removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, coincided with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) sessions. However, eyewitness accounts and media reports suggest that attendance was far lower than anticipated, undermining the narrative of success promoted by officials.

Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana touted the demonstration as impactful, stating, “Yesterday, there was a successful demonstration in New York City on the sidelines of UNGA as the African Diaspora called for the removal of Illegal Sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.”

However, this assertion starkly contrasts with the on-the-ground reality, where many attendees expressed disappointment over the turnout.

Participants described a lack of enthusiasm and engagement at the event. One attendee, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked, “It felt more like a gathering than a protest. There were not nearly enough people to make any real impact.”

Despite the government’s attempts to frame the demonstration as a show of unity among the Zimbabwean diaspora, the low turnout suggests that the sentiment for such events may be waning.

Observers noted that many Zimbabweans abroad are more focused on issues affecting their daily lives rather than engaging in political demonstrations that seem disconnected from the realities at home.

Critics have also questioned the effectiveness of such demonstrations, suggesting that they do little to change the broader political landscape in Zimbabwe. “These events often come off as hollow,” commented a local activist.

“Without substantial change back home, it’s hard to get people excited about protesting sanctions abroad.”

In summary, while the Zanu PF government may attempt to present a facade of solidarity and action, the anti-sanctions demonstration in New York serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing Zimbabwean leadership in rallying support both domestically and internationally.

As discussions at the UN continue, the efficacy of these kinds of protests remains under scrutiny.

Zim Youths Quit Politics

By Political Reporter- The majority of the country’s young population has shown growing discontentment with politics and government, a recent report has revealed.

Research conducted by the Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI), produced last week, shows that 7 in 10 young people blame the government for the country’s economic failures. Yet, nearly half would still vote for President Emmerson Mnangagwa if elections were held today.

A staggering 68% of respondents believe the government is mismanaging the economy, with 85% saying they’ve lived without cash income in the past year and nearly half (48%) going without food.

61% feel the country is headed in the wrong direction, largely blaming the leadership of Mnangagwa’s regime.

The paradox between economic frustration and political support is labelled as “schizophrenic” by Professor Eldred Masunungure, MPOI Director.

He finds this contradictory behaviour puzzling and difficult to explain, as young people—constituting the majority of those critical of the government—are simultaneously disconnected from political parties, with 4 in 10 saying they do not feel close to any.

Claris Madhuku, Director of the Platform for Youth and Community Development (PYCD), attributes the disillusionment to youth becoming “risk-averse” and unwilling to challenge the status quo.

“I can relate very well with this description of Zimbabweans, considering that most young people I engage with have become ‘risk averse’ and unwilling to confront and challenge the status quo. These young people are either too reserved and cautious in their participation or they are leaving the country in search of alternative livelihood,” Madhuku concurred.

Economic decline, exacerbated by hyperinflation, chronic unemployment, and a weakening currency, has left many citizens, especially the youth, in a state of despair.

Official unemployment rates hover at over 90%, with informal jobs providing the only source of livelihood for most.

Young people, who represent a significant portion of the population, face bleak prospects, making them less likely to engage with a political system they feel is failing them.

Political violence and repression have also played a significant role in youth disengagement.

Over the years, Zimbabwe’s political environment has been marred by intimidation, arrests of opposition figures, and violent crackdowns on protests, further discouraging youth from participating in governance.

The sense of fear, coupled with a stagnant economy, has driven many young Zimbabweans to emigrate, leaving behind a political vacuum where they feel neither empowered nor safe to demand change.

This growing disengagement signals a worrying trend for Zimbabwe’s future, where the country’s youth, disillusioned by economic hardship and political repression, increasingly choose silence or exile over political activism.

Roulette Simulators Explained: How Can They Improve Your Game?

How to Use Roulette Simulators to Improve Your Game

By A Correspondent | If you’re looking to improve your roulette game, roulette simulators can be a fantastic tool. These free, online tools let you play as many spins as you want on many different roulette games and types of wheels. They use Random Number Generators (RNG) to simulate real roulette games, so the outcome is completely random..

If you want to practice roulette without risking real money, these simulators offer a great way to refine your strategies, understand your bankroll limits, and try different betting patterns. To do that, you must find a good roulette simulator that works like it’s supposed to, has various features and options, and is free. But first, let’s see what they are, how they work, and why would you use one.

What Are Roulette Simulators?

Roulette simulators are digital tools that mimic a real roulette wheel. They use complex Random Number Generators (RNG) to generate realistic spins. They allow you to play without investing a dime. To make it even better, you can usually choose between different variants, like European, French, and American roulette, and test with different table limits. Since these simulators are usually free, they offer unlimited opportunities to test different strategies and bets without any financial risk – which is the primary reason why you might need one.

Why Use Roulette Simulators?

There are multiple situations where a roulette simulator can be an effective tool. Regardless if you’re a beginner who doesn’t know all the bets well, or you are a seasoned player who wants to test their game roulette simulator, you can learn a lot from prolonged tests of your favorite game.

  • Unlimited Practice: One of the best features of roulette simulators is the fact that you can practice as much as you want. For free. You can simulate hundreds or even thousands of spins, which helps you understand the flow of the game and how different strategies perform over time.
  • Test Your Bankroll: Simulators are excellent for testing how far you can stretch your bankroll. You can experiment with different bet sizes and progressions to see what works best, all without risking actual money.
  • Strategy Testing: Probably the most valuable use of a roulette simulator is for testing strategies. Whether you’re experimenting with aggressive betting like the $5 Betting System or trying to play it safe with a system like Oscar’s Grind, a simulator lets you test how a strategy would work in a real-life scenario.

Popular Roulette Strategies to Practice

Here are some popular roulette betting strategies that you can try out using a roulette simulator:

  • Martingale: It’s the most popular betting strategy out there. You need to double your bet after every loss until you win. It’s simple, but it can be risky if you hit a long losing streak. Simulators let you see how far your bankroll can take you in the long run.
  • Fibonacci: Here, you need to increase your bet according to the famous Fibonacci sequence after each loss and step back two numbers after a win. This strategy is less aggressive and you can test how much you can win over a certain period.
  • D’Alembert: With this system, you need to increase your bet by one unit after a loss and decrease by one after a win. It’s a balanced approach that’s less risky than the Martingale but still effective.
  • Labouchere: This is a system that requires you to write down a sequence of numbers representing your bets. Add the first and last numbers for each bet and adjust as you win or lose. It’s more complex, which is why you need to practice your skills.
  • James Bond: This strategy covers more than half the table with specific bets, aiming for frequent smaller wins. It’s great for short sessions and can be easily tested on a simulator.

How Simulators Can Help You With Strategy Testing

Roulette simulators are a risk-free way to test these strategies. Here’s a an overview of how they can help you with each of these popular betting systems:

StrategyHow a simulator can help you
MartingaleTesting how many losses your bankroll can sustain.
FibonacciSeeing if gradual increases can control losses.
D’AlembertBalancing wins and losses with moderate changes.
LabouchereManaging sequences and adjusting bets effectively.
James BondEvaluating frequent, smaller wins with broad bets.

Tips for Using Roulette Simulators Effectively

We’ll now provide you with some handy tips on how to use effectively use these simulators for roulette:

  • Set Clear Goals: Before you start, have a clear goal in mind, whether it’s to test a strategy, understand bet types, or something else.
  • Track Your Results: Keep a record of your wins, losses, and adjustments. Some simulators track this data for you, and it’s important to track data because it will show you which strategies are working, and where you might need to tweak your approach.
  • Simulate Real Conditions: Treat your simulator practice like a real roulette game. Just because the budget is unlimited, it doesn’t mean you can use the same scenario in real life. Stick to a budget, manage your time, and avoid making reckless bets.

Mnangagwa Recruits 1,000 Green Bombers

The Zanu PF regime has relaunched the controversial National Youth Service, notorious for its role in harassing opposition members during Robert Mugabe’s era.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere announced that over 1,000 youths have been recruited for the program. President Mnangagwa officially relaunched the initiative at the Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in Mashonaland East Province on May 24, 2024. Dr. Muswere made this announcement following last week’s Cabinet meeting, noting that 1,082 youths were recruited for the first intake at Vumba and Dadaya Training Centres.

Zimuto Police Camp School Boss In Massive Corruption Scandal

By Concerned Citizen-Serious corruption is happening at Zrp Zimuto Camp primary school Masvingo. Since its establishment, all its expansion projects, ie, [ building of new blocks, plumbing, fabrication and electrical ] were done by ZRP construction, but when the enrollment increased and the coming in of headmaster Chief Inspector Tichaona Mazadza, fees shot from around  35 US to 90 US and in 2023 a classroom block tender which was valued Usd 50 000 [that is material and money for labourers] was awarded to jedcon construction at a value of Usd 25 000. The reason for awarding a private contract was that Zrp construction was too slow, according to the head and Zrp Masvingo command. An internal anonymous complaint was made to the Police General Headquarters complaints desk on the WhatsApp platform on 11 February 2024 regarding this issue, but nothing positive materialised. The headmaster awarded the tender of desks to individuals whilst ZRP has a class 1 fabricator and carpenter; he also bought a tank stand at Masvingo rank, which can not accommodate 10,000 litres whilst ZRP construction has a class 1 fabricator, he constructed a car shed without the knowledge of ZRP construction which is 100 meters from the school, and he bought bricks, pits and river sand for the intended administration block valued at USD 80 000 without artisans, it is now difficult for some junior police officers to enrol their children vacancies being reserved for the rich (there is a certain Sergeant who approached the head seeking enrollment for her child and head said there are no vacancies and she approached his uncle with a driving school in Masvingo town and her daughter was enrolled) and the ZRP Masvingo command is just watching.

Mnangagwa Struggles To Save Crumbling ZiG

By Business Reporter- The government has acknowledged that the ZiG has collapsed and said it was working on measures to rescue the collapsing local currency.

The proposed measures, however, are far from those needed to address the core economic issues holding back the country’s recovery.

Instead of tackling fundamental problems like production, the rule of law, and human rights abuses necessary to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), authorities are relying on superficial interventions such as more taxes on businesses and injecting US dollars into the market.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor, Dr. John Mushayavanhu, acknowledged that the government is attempting to stabilize ZiG by enforcing quarterly tax payments starting this week and pumping US dollars into circulation to meet the growing demand, especially after recent exchange rate volatility on the parallel market.

However, these interventions ignore the underlying structural issues plaguing Zimbabwe’s economy.

The depreciation of ZiG is not merely a result of “transitory foreign currency demand pressures,” as claimed by authorities.

It stems from deep-seated economic instability, eroded investor confidence, and the government’s unwillingness to implement reforms that could create a conducive environment for FDI.

While monetary authorities argue that the current depreciation is driven by seasonal pressures, such as preparations for the cropping season, the reality is that the economy is in freefall, and businesses are scrambling to hedge against the deteriorating exchange rate.

Price hikes in goods and services reflect retailers’ efforts to protect themselves from the unpredictable currency fluctuations.

Dr. Mushayavanhu insists that the depreciation is due to “negative sentiments” about ZiG’s sustainability rather than actual economic fundamentals.

He points to increased foreign currency receipts, which grew by 13.4% from January to August 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, as evidence that the problem is speculative.

Yet, this narrative glosses over the fact that Zimbabwe’s business environment is deteriorating rapidly due to widespread corruption, poor governance, and an unpredictable regulatory landscape.

To prop up ZiG, the government has directed businesses to split tax payments between ZiG and US dollars, hoping to boost demand for the struggling local currency.

At the same time, the RBZ has injected over US$110 million into the market and released an additional US$12 million through export surrender requirements.

These efforts are backed by an increase in precious mineral reserves, but they do little to solve the underlying economic crisis.

Economist and RBZ Monetary Policy Committee member Mr. Persistence Gwanyanya suggests that the volatility is temporary and will stabilize with central bank interventions.

Yet, these measures are merely short-term fixes that cannot resolve the deeper issues strangling Zimbabwe’s economy.

Without addressing production capacity, ensuring respect for the rule of law, and upholding human rights, the government’s efforts to save ZiG will remain futile.

Investors continue to shy away from Zimbabwe, and the country’s dire economic situation persists, despite cosmetic monetary interventions.

As long as the government avoids the real reforms needed for long-term growth, ZiG’s collapse is inevitable.

Mnangagwa Ambushes Chiwenga

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF National Chairperson, Opah Muchinguri, has announced the downsizing of the party’s annual conference, now scheduled for October 22 to 27 in Bulawayo.

This decision is widely seen as a strategic move by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to weaken Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s support base ahead of the crucial event.

The conference, traditionally a large-scale gathering, is expected to confirm the party’s candidate to succeed Mnangagwa in 2028.

As Mnangagwa’s deputy, Chiwenga is eyeing the top position, positioning himself as a potential successor.

However, Mnangagwa, who faces constitutional term limits, is reportedly keen on extending his rule beyond the two-term mandate and is rallying his loyalists to block Chiwenga’s rise.

Mzembi Exposes Zanu PF Insincerity On ZiG

By A Correspondent

Former Tourism Minister, Walter Mzembi, has criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s handling of Zimbabwe’s currency, ZiG.

Mzembi suggests that ZiG should adopt a free market approach, similar to Zambia’s Kwacha, which coexists with the US dollar without disruptions.

Mzembi’s statement highlights the inconsistencies in Mnangagwa’s economic policies. “If you settle on a currency, use it yourself,” he emphasizes, implying that the government should lead by example.

This criticism comes amid concerns over Zimbabwe’s economic struggles and human rights issues under Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Amnesty International has reported on the government’s failure to break with the past, instead perpetuating a cycle of violence, oppression, and impunity [1).

Mzembi’s call to action is clear: “Fix the fundamentals.” He tags Mnangagwa, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, and Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Guvamatanga, urging them to address the underlying economic issues.

Mavhaire’s Son Breaks Ties After Father Defects to ZANU PF

Harare, 21st September 2024 – In a shocking turn of events, Tinashe Mavhaire, son of former Energy Minister Dzikamai Mavhaire, has publicly distanced himself from his father after the elder Mavhaire defected to ZANU PF. Tinashe made the announcement in a video released by ZimEye, stating, “As for me, Tinashe Mavhaire, I am making it clear that I am only with President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.”

Dzikamai Mavhaire, who was recently paraded at State House with his other son, Tawanda, and former Gutu Central legislator Oliver Chirume, returned to the ruling party amidst claims of financial struggles. Sources close to the matter revealed that Mavhaire sought a private meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his State House visit, likely to request financial assistance.

“We were surprised when he suddenly asked for a private audience with the President. We suspect it had to do with his current financial difficulties, as he seems to be in a tough situation,” a source who accompanied Mavhaire was quoted by TellZim news.

Mavhaire’s political fortunes have been in steady decline since his 2014 dismissal from ZANU PF and his subsequent loss of shares in Bikita Minerals after its sale to Chinese company Sinomine in 2022. His truck company has collapsed, and he is reportedly struggling to make ends meet from a horticulture project at his farm near Great Zimbabwe Monuments.

In a phone conversation with TellZim News, Mavhaire dodged questions about his political allegiance, saying, “Have you ever seen my CCC membership card? I thought you’d ask something better. You should write about development, not this nonsense.”

Tinashe’s bold move to affirm his support for opposition leader Nelson Chamisa highlights a growing divide within the Mavhaire family, as the former minister’s struggles push him back into the ruling party’s fold.

More details to follow as the story develops.

Harare City Targets Debtors

By A Correspondent

In a significant move to recover outstanding debts, the Harare City Council recently seized household properties belonging to sixty debtors, valued at thousands of dollars.

This action is part of the council’s broader effort to reclaim over ZiG458 million (approximately US$30 million) owed by ratepayers.

Last month, the City of Harare, utilizing the Messenger of Court, executed a crackdown on those with overdue accounts, attaching items such as sofas and television sets from various households.

These goods were subsequently auctioned off to recoup some of the outstanding debts.

The breakdown of the debt reveals that residential, commercial, and industrial ratepayers owe ZiG121 million, ZiG168 million, and ZiG140 million, respectively.

Furthermore, government ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as dormitory towns dependent on Harare for essential services like bulk water supply, contribute significantly to the overall debt.

Earlier this year, the council took proactive measures against more than 4,000 residents who had overdue balances exceeding 90 days. After failing to respond to 14-day final demand letters, many were served court summonses.

As a result, the Harare City Council successfully obtained court orders enabling them to seize properties from those in default.

“This action is essential for the council to recover funds critical for providing services to the community,” a council official stated.

“We must ensure accountability among all ratepayers.”

The repercussions of this aggressive debt recovery strategy have sparked mixed reactions among residents.

While some support the council’s efforts to improve financial stability, others express concern over the impact on families who may lose their essential household items.

The recent auctions serve as a stark reminder of the financial strains facing the Harare City Council and the importance of timely payments by ratepayers.

As the council continues its efforts to address the debt crisis, many residents are left wondering how these measures will affect the broader community moving forward.
