Zemura Grabs First Serie A Goal

Warriors international Jordan Zemura has become the first Zimbabwean to score in the Italian Serie A after opening the scoring in Udinese’s match against Cagliari this Sunday.

It will certainly be a memorable day for the Zimbabwean defender whose exploits left a mark in Udinese’s league match against relegation threatened Cagliari at Bluenergy Stadium.

The Warriors starlet, who was given a midfield role by coach Gabriele Ciofi, relished the task that he was assigned by scoring his team’s only goal in Sunday’s one-all draw with Claudio Ranieri coached Cagliari.

The 24-year-old also made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean player to seal a move to the Serie A.

He received a cap needed just 14 minutes to get on to the scoresheet, scoring a rocket of a shot into the top corner.

The former Bournemouth defender found space on the edge of the box and fired one into the top corner as his side drew first blood in the match.

Cagliari however responded half an hour later as Gianluca Gaetano scored for the visitors for the second consecutive week.

Zemura could only play for just over an hour as he was replaced by Republic of Ireland international Festy Ebosele in the 65th minute.

Zemura walked off the pitch a happy man having done what none of his countrymen has done before as once again he rewrote his name in the history books thanks to the sumptuous strike.

With the draw, Udinese are now three points clear of the relegation slots with 23 points and lie in 15th spot level on points with 14th placed Frosinone.

Udinese’s next appearance will be on Saturday when they visit Luigi Feraris Stadium for a clash against Genoa.

A statue of the late founding father of the then Organisation of African Unity (OAU), Julius Nyerere has been unveiled at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in honour of the Pan-Africanist’s contribution to the liberation of the continent.

The Organisation of African Unity, now African Union, was founded in 1963.

The statue unveiling ceremony, which is in honour of Nyerere’s legacy of peace, security, and unity, was attended by several African leaders including President Emmerson Mnangagwa this Sunday morning.

AU Commission chairperson, H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat said the honour bestowed on Nyerere is befitting of such an African giant.

“Mwalimu played a key pioneering role in the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, a milestone event in our pursuit of African unity.

The journey continues. His commitment to African unity went beyond national boundaries and national interest,” he said.

Nyerere, remembered for his pivotal role in the liberation of Southern African countries and his steadfast pursuit of peace and security across Africa, now joins the ranks of other African luminaries like Kwame Nkrumah and Emperor Haile Selassie, whose statues have also been erected at the African Union’s grounds in Ethiopia.

The idea to honour Nyerere was recommended by Zimbabwe’s late former President Robert Mugabe during the 35th SADC Summit in 2015.

How Much Is Emmerson Mnangagwa Spending On Fighting Nelson Chamisa?

In the face of sustained onslaughts from the ruling Zanu PF party and its affiliates, Nelson Chamisa, the dynamic leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition, maintains unwavering resilience and optimism.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of Zanu PF, directs considerable time and resources towards launching relentless attacks against Chamisa and his allies.

In a reflective message shared on X platform, Chamisa articulates his steadfast philosophy:

In life, cultivate sweetness in abundance while banishing bitterness from your midst.”

Tshabangu Project Crumbles

By Wezhira Munya – February 19, 2024

In a dramatic turn of events, the Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faced internal turmoil as rifts emerged over leadership appointments and allegiances.

Jacob Mafume, Mayor of Harare, ignited controversy during a press conference at Holiday Inn, Bulawayo, on February 17, 2024, by declaring himself the spokesperson for Tshabangu CCC, citing structures from the MDC Alliance Congress.

However, Fortune Daniel Molekele, Member of Parliament, contested Mafume’s assertion, affirming his own appointment as MDC Alliance spokesperson post-Gweru Congress.

Advocating for clarity, Molekele emphasized the dissolution of MDC Alliance following legal rulings in March 2020, positing Tshabangu CCC as a distinct entity detached from its predecessor.

Amidst the tumult, Professor Welshman Ncube, Advocate Tendai Biti, and Honourable Lynette Karenyi-Kore were unveiled as vice presidents, with Ncube slated as acting president for 90 days, succeeded by Biti and Karenyi-Kore.However, Karenyi-Kore rebuffed the offer, pledging allegiance to President Nelson Chamisa.

Addressing speculations, Agency Gumbo clarified Karenyi-Kore’s absence from the purported National Standing Committee meeting, asserting her steadfast commitment to Chamisa’s cause.

Gumbo reiterated Karenyi-Kore’s unwavering dedication to the national democratic agenda, distancing her from what he termed “JM (Jacob Mafume) popayi business.”

Despite previous inclusion in Tshabangu CCC announcements, Karenyi-Kore adamantly declined the vice presidency, aligning herself with Chamisa’s faction.

Further discord surfaced as Molekele and Kore distanced themselves from Ncube, Biti, and Mafume, attributing past political setbacks to their leadership. Criticisms echoed accusations of fracturing the MDC under President Tsvangirai’s tenure, with Biti and Ncube labeled as power-hungry dissenters.

As tensions escalate within Tshabangu CCC, the fallout underscores the fragility of coalition politics and the enduring influence of factionalism on Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Unveiling the Essentials:Navigating the Terrain of Mining Success

Mining, like any other business, teeters on a delicate balance of crucial factors that can either propel it to soaring heights or plunge it into the depths of failure.

While many miners fixate on the allure of striking a rich vein, the reality unveils a different narrative.

Sustainable success in mining hinges upon mastering key elements that form the bedrock of this industry.

Let’s embark on a journey to unearth these invaluable lessons that can steer miners towards prosperity even in the face of adversity.

  1. Strategic Management:

At the helm of every successful mining operation stands a strategic manager whose influence reverberates throughout the venture.

The absence of effective management manifests in myriad red flags—diminished output, equipment losses, absence of records, regulatory non-compliance, and unsustainable production metrics.

Prior to appointing a manager, introspectively assess your weaknesses and seek out a candidate whose strengths complement your shortcomings.

Foster a collaborative management ethos devoid of micromanagement, relegating cellphones solely to reporting and analysis tools.

Complement your manager’s skill set by assembling a cohesive management team that covers all critical aspects, be it blasting expertise or cyanide plant management.2. Debt Management: Debt looms large in the narrative of mining endeavors, often serving as both a boon and a bane.

Artisanal miners, constrained by limited resources, resort to makeshift solutions to extract precious metals, paving the way for a cascade of debts.

Short-term loans, predominantly sourced from the informal sector, snowball into exorbitant liabilities, ensnaring mine owners and workers alike. Survival in this landscape necessitates not only adept debt management skills but also unwavering discipline.

Astute investors recognize the potential nestled within mines burdened by debt, viewing it as an opportunity for strategic intervention.

By acquiring existing debts and orchestrating judicious negotiations, investors can seamlessly segue into operational realms, albeit with caution and prudence.3.

The Boss: “Tsheketsha Korokoza” In the lexicon of mining, the term “Tsheketsha Korokoza” embodies the essence of resilience amidst adversity.

Just as every miner encounters cycles of abundance and dearth, prudent financial support must mirror performance benchmarks rather than fleeting successes.

Transparency, consistency, and accountability emerge as guiding principles in bolstering these frontline operatives.

While bestowing respect upon them is paramount, financial aid should be dispensed discerningly, steering clear of enabling dependence.

The crucible of hunger and hardship serves as the ultimate arbiter, distinguishing genuine commitment from opportunistic exploitation. In conclusion, the mining landscape offers a tapestry of lessons waiting to be deciphered.

By heeding the wisdom encapsulated within strategic management, debt mastery, and nuanced support for frontline workers, miners can chart a course towards enduring success amidst the ebb and flow of industry dynamics.

Mafume Says Chamisa Lent His “Private Parts” To CCC Which He Can’t Retrieve

Forced Evictions: Evil and Inhuman

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabweans are once again engulfed in a heated debate over land evictions, pondering who is responsible. Many have pointed fingers at ZANU PF, while the faltering opposition sees this as an opportunity. However, it’s crucial to clarify that ZANU PF itself is not behind these evictions. These actions are authorized by the ministry responsible for enforcement.

Understanding the distinction between ZANU PF and the government is vital. ZANU PF, while a significant political force, does not equate to the government but is a part of it. The government serves the entirety of Zimbabwe, whereas ZANU PF focuses on its members. Notably, ZANU PF members are also impacted by the current eviction exercise, making it unjust to solely blame the party.

Evictions are carried out in accordance with the law. It’s disheartening to see support for unlawful practices under the guise of opposing ZANU PF. Zimbabwe’s land tenure systems—freehold, state land, communal, and leasehold—are crucial in shaping property rights and access to natural resources, with historical ties to the country’s colonial past.

The communal land system, covering a significant portion of Zimbabwe and housing the majority of its population, offers usufructuary rights, but recent government actions, such as mining and quarrying, have raised concerns about the rights of communal land inhabitants.

Forced evictions violate numerous internationally recognized human rights, leading to homelessness, destitution, and increased social inequality. They often result from a lack of legally secure tenure, highlighting the need for protections under the right to adequate housing.

Zimbabwe’s Constitution acknowledges communal land’s unique status and the role of traditional leaders in its administration. International human rights law demands that evictions only occur under exceptional circumstances, with comprehensive protections for those affected, including consultation, notice, legal remedies, and adequate compensation.

The persistence of evictions, often carried out without exploring alternatives or providing adequate compensation, is both legally

Jah Signal Speaks On Stealing Pastor Charles Charamba Lyrics

By-ZIM dancehall artist, Jah Signal, insists he should not be crucified for plagiarising the work of Pastor Charlse Charamba.

He also claims it’s very common, in the musical industry, for artists to copy from other artists.
The chanter had his popular song ‘Sweetie,’ pulled down on YouTube after Pastor Charamba’s camp complained that Jah Signal had stolen part of their lyrics from the song ‘Kana Vanhu Vangu’ off their 2001 album Exodus.
In an interview with H-Metro, Jah Signal said he should not be destroyed for that.
He said he often draws inspiration from other singers and their songs and feels it’s a common practice in the music industry.
“I have always been open about my influences and I am not ashamed to say that I borrow from the greats.
“I understand why people are upset and I take their concerns seriously but at the end of the day all my songs come from a place of honesty,” he said.
Jah Signal has promised to review all his past lyrics and make any necessary changes or acknowledgments.
“Music is a collaborative art form and I am grateful for the contributions of everyone who has helped me along the way.
“I am taking these accusations seriously and I plan to do everything in my power to make things right.” H Metro

Fresh Chaos In Tshabangu’s CCC

By-There is confusion in the Sengezo Tshabangu-led CCC over positions in the sinking opposition party.

The chaos was exposed Sunday after CCC national spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi announced that Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume is no longer a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.

Mkwananzi stated that Mafume was dismissed for associating with the party’s disputed secretary general, Sengezo Tshabangu.

This came after Mafume declared that the CCC faction led by Tshabangu held a meeting in Bulawayo and appointed interim presidents for the party.

Mafume explained that Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti, and Lynette Karenyi-Kore were selected as interim presidents, with each leader serving for 90 days before passing the role to the next person. Ncube would be the first to assume this position. Mafume was elected as the party’s national spokesperson, taking over from Promise Mkwananzi in August 2023, who had held the position previously.

During the meeting, it was also decided to reactivate the MDC 2019 congress posts, resulting in Chalton Hwende resuming the position of secretary general. These appointments are temporary until the party conducts an elective congress to choose permanent leaders, according to Mafume.

In a statement , Mkwananzi, who still identifies himself as the CCC spokesperson, declared that these appointments hold no validity, implying internal factional conflicts within the party. Mkwananzi said:

We have called the present press conference to update the citizens of Zimbabwe, the International community and all stakeholders of the change project on several key developments within the party and in our spaces within the governance structure of the country.

As you may now be aware, the party’s founder and leader, President Advocate Nelson Chamisa resigned as leader and head of the Citizens Coalition for Change; a history which we shall not regurgitate at this presser. It is at the backdrop of the said resignation that the party’s Citizens National Assembly convened and resolved the question of the leadership vacuum occasioned by the President’s resignation from the party. The undoubted consensus within the party’s membership and progressive leadership is that the President had become a target of a deliberate project sponsored by the parallel state and implemented by a fatigued and positions hungry lot seeking to sustain a Zanu PF rule in Zimbabwe.

It is important that we clarify that the resignation of the President was by no means intended to burn the party and its assets to the ground. The resignation has in fact breathed life to and sustained the fight for democratic transition in our country.

The struggle for democratic transition in Zimbabwe is undergoing a transition. That transition, entails the falling away of an old culture, old tendencies and old politics and to some extent, old personalities and characters. There is an unstoppable and refreshing birth of the new; characterised by a new culture of politics that is people centred as opposed to being position centred. The sacrifice by President Nelson Chamisa to abandon an institution which he founded must be understood in the context of this painful but real transition. We have to assert at this juncture that the CNA has resolved that the CCC and its deployees (MPs and Councillors) remain committed to the transitional process which will deliver a New Great Zimbabwe led by Adv. Nelson Chamisa.

Let there be no doubt, the party and its membership, represented by the resolutions of the CNA has given the task of managing the internal transitional processes of the party to Senator Jameson Timba who leads the Administration Bureau of the party with representation from all the ten provinces in Zimbabwe. Senator Jameson Timba, a senior political leader within the democratic movement in Zimbabwe carries a collective and technical mandate of running the affairs of the party ahead of President Nelson Chamisa’s treatise on the next step. In conformity with his mandate, Senator Jameson Timba announced a series of key appointments in the party’s Parliamentary leadership structure which has been confirmed by the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

All party deployees in Parliament are called upon to co-operate and work with the stated leadership in executing the party’s legislative agenda and in advancing the interests of the citizens. Any acts of insubordination, sabotage and rebellion shall be considered an affront to the country’s democratisation agenda and shall be meted with legal and political processes to ensure struggle discipline.

The party has taken note of the growing concerns around numerous evictions which have been carried out by the ZANU PF government in various parts of the country. We are concerned with the obvious affront to human rights and livelihood of many Zimbabwean citizens affected by what appears to be consequences of an unclosed chapter of a fractured land reform program. The party has thus appointed its Legal and Parliamentary Affairs bureau head, Honourable Agency Gumbo to lead a commission constituted by Members of Parliament and Councillors to embark on a national fact finding mission which will inform the party’s response to this growing national concern.

We further wish to communicate, unequivocally to the public, that there is a team which is presently moving around provinces carrying a special mandate of informing our base on the state of affairs in the democratic alternative. We dispel any notion and or innuendos thereof, by our detractors who seek to suggest a rift and lack of consensus on the strategic steps which are a parcel of the party’s internal transitional process. Without saying much, we advise the citizens of Zimbabwe to remain vigilant and understand that there is cohesion in the processes currently underway.

We have taken note of some rotten apples seeking to further the contamination within the party and its deployees. We have heard timid whispers emanating from Holiday Inn in Bulawayo wherein one Jacob Mafume mischievously makes pronouncements about the leadership of the CCC. We state categorically that the said pronouncements are null and void and are not a representation of the collective wisdom and resolution of the Citizens National Assembly.

We wish to state that Mr Mafume is not authorised to speak for and on behalf of the party, his obvious link with Sengezo Tshabangu and the unlawful recalls has now been confirmed. His reference to a supposed link between the CCC and the leadership of the MDC A is not only mischievous but a confirmation that he has ceased to be a member of the CCC. Accordingly, any deployee or leader of CCC who associates with this mischief will automatically cease to be a member of the party and the relevant political and legal consequences shall ensue.

Chamisa MP Speaks On Biti Mabvuku Embarrassment

By A Political Reporter- Former Mabvuku MP Febion Kufahakutizwi has confirmed the embarrassment yesterday of the Sengezo Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change deputy president Tendai Biti at a funeral in Mabvuku.

Kufa told ZimEye that Biti was ordered not to address the funeral because of his association with the Zanu PF-infiltrated CCC.

He said Biti would never win even a council seat should he contest under the CC that they hijacked from Nelson Chamisa.

Biti, Sunday arrived unannounced to attend a funeral, and met a barrage of insults and public humiliation.

Eyewitnesses report that as soon as Biti made his appearance, he was greeted with loud screams and derogatory remarks, with some attendees yelling, “You are a traitor Biti- Uri mutengesi iwe Biti!” The incident rapidly escalated as Biti was chased away from the event amidst the chaos that could very well spell a significant blow to his political career.

The backlash comes in the wake of allegations that Biti sought military assistance, specifically from the feared FAZ terror group, to undermine the leadership of Nelson Chamisa, the nation’s most popular leader. This controversial move has sparked outrage among supporters and critics alike, questioning Biti’s loyalty and intentions within the political landscape of Zimbabwe.
The incident in Mabvuku raises concerns about Biti’s legitimacy as Deputy President of his Tshabangu CCC makeshift.
This is a developing story. We are closely following the events as they unfold and will provide updates with more information and reactions from the Tshabangu CCC party, political analysts, and other stakeholders. The implications of today’s events on Tendai Biti’s political future and the broader dynamics within Zimbabwe’s opposition movements remain to be seen.

Law Society Probes Lawyer Zibusiso Ncube Amid $25 Million Qoki Scandal”

By Nancy Ndaba | The Law Society of Zimbabwe continues to investigate multiple reports of professional misconduct by lawyer Zibusiso Charles Ncube of Ncube & Partners law firm based in Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. These reports stem from about 38 collaborative projects initiated with Sithule Tshuma since 2020, which purportedly amassed a staggering $25 million from victims of the Qoki scam. Operating under the guise of Zindlovukazi, these projects were conducted via a WhatsApp platform and were predominantly overseen by Sithule Tshuma.

Sithule Tshuma

Recent developments have seen the directors of Qoki Zindlovukazi, namely Sithule Tshuma, Karen Kumalo, Bridget Dube, Nompilo Moyo, and their lawyer, Zibusiso Charles Ncube, come under intense scrutiny from various state departments, including the Police, Anti-Corruption agencies, and the Law Society of Zimbabwe. Central to these investigations are also professional misconduct and criminal concerns against Zibusiso, ranging from embezzlement of Capital Gains Tax to fraudulent production of Agreements of Sale and Title Deeds.

The Law Society, Police, and Anti-corruption have confirmed receiving numerous complaints of fraud from victims of both Zibusiso and Qoki. Additionally, individuals not directly involved with Qoki have also reported instances of financial misconduct by Zibusiso. One particularly egregious case involves the Airport Road 55-hectare plots, where Zibusiso assumed multiple roles, representing both the seller and the buyer in Conveyancing processes, as well as acting on behalf of investors/victims. Notably, this project comprised two farms, Insukamini Subdivision C of Rouxdale (Title deed number 363/22) and Lot 1 Subdivision D of Rouxdale (Title Deed 427/22), each with distinct Agreements of Sale:

  • Zibusiso drafted the Insukamini C farm Agreement of Sale and Title Deeds to victims, selling the land to victims for $414,000.
  • Lot 1 Rouxdale D farm Agreement of Sale was also drafted and issued by Zibusiso, selling the farm to victims for $1,080,000.

However, investigations revealed significant price disparities, with the seller’s listed prices being substantially lower ($320,000 for Insukamini and $450,000 for Lot 1 Rouxdale). Despite this, Zibusiso charged victims Conveyancing fees based on inflated prices, pocketing close to $107,325 for this project alone, exacerbating the financial harm inflicted on unsuspecting individuals. All original copies of the Title Deeds are missing at the Deed office and at Zibusiso’s 123a Josiah Tongogara Bulawayo office.

Despite a plethora of criminal investigations and complaints lodged with the Law Society since April 2023, Zibusiso has continued to operate his law firm with apparent impunity, thereby exposing the public to further risk of financial exploitation and misconduct. The ongoing investigation by the Law Society aims to hold accountable all individuals involved in these egregious acts and to safeguard the integrity of the legal profession in Zimbabwe.

Citizens Reject Biti

Harare, Zimbabwe – By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Tendai Biti, the deputy president of the Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change (T-CCC) party, encountered an unexpected and hostile reception on Sunday in Mabvuku, a suburb of Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital. The politician, who arrived unannounced to attend a funeral, was met with a barrage of insults and public humiliation.

Eyewitnesses report that as soon as Biti made his appearance, he was greeted with loud screams and derogatory remarks, with some attendees yelling, “You are a traitor Biti- Uri mutengesi iwe Biti!” The incident rapidly escalated as Biti was chased away from the event, amidst the chaos that could very well spell a significant blow to his political career.

Tthe local chosen MP, Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi confirmed the development to ZimEye saying Biti failed to address the crowd when he was drowned by calls for him to be exposed.

“So he was embarrassed by the people, not by any other people but the people know what’s happening on the ground,” said Hon. Kufahakutizwi

“He was embarrassed to the last,” added Hon Kufa  saying the barrister failed to speak despite being close to the deceased, one only identified as Mai Adana (50s) who was a party Chairlady for Harare East, Ward 9 Tafara (towards the Support Unit.).

Although Biti contributed the highest amount over USD900 for the funeral expenses, no one gave him passage to speak.

She was buried at Tafara Cemetery.

Nelson Chamisa Stands Firm Amidst Adversity

In the face of sustained onslaughts from the ruling Zanu PF party and its affiliates, Nelson Chamisa, the dynamic leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition, maintains unwavering resilience and optimism.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of Zanu PF, directs considerable time and resources towards launching relentless attacks against Chamisa and his allies.

In a reflective message shared on X platform, Chamisa articulates his steadfast philosophy:

“Bitterness breeds no betterment… Embrace diversity, relish criticism, and cherish dialogue. Surround yourself with positivity and shun the toxicity of backbiting.

In life, cultivate sweetness in abundance while banishing bitterness from your midst.”

Chamisa’s resolute stance reflects a commitment to rise above adversities, fostering an environment of constructive engagement and collective progress amidst turbulent political landscapes.

Winky D Slapped With Copyright Strikes That Could Shut Him Out Of Business

By Showbiz Reporter | In a startling development that has reverberated throughout the music industry, renowned Zimbabwean artist Winky D, affectionately known as the “Gafa,” has been hit with two major copyright strikes against his YouTube channel. These strikes are linked to two of his hit tracks, ‘Disappear’ and ‘Mirror,’ both produced by the music label Kenako Music. The resulting action has led to the removal of these popular songs from Winky D’s official YouTube channel, winkyonline, placing the artist in a critical situation where one more strike could result in the complete shutdown of his channel.

The Severity of Copyright Strikes for Winky D

The implications of these copyright strikes are significant. Already bearing two strikes, Winky D is now facing the harsh reality of potentially losing his YouTube channel. This platform is not just a medium for music distribution but also a vital link between the artist and his fans worldwide. A third strike, in accordance with YouTube’s policy, would not only terminate his channel but also erase all its content and sever connections with his audience. Such a drastic measure could severely limit Winky D’s ability to distribute his music and interact with fans through one of the largest video-sharing platforms globally.

The Crux of the Conflict: Royalties Dispute

The dispute centers around the production of the songs ‘Disappear’ and ‘Mirror.’ Notably, ‘Disappear’ was produced by Oskid, a pivotal figure in Winky D’s production team, before his exit from Kenako Music in 2015 to start his own label, Oskid Productions. The core of the issue lies in Kenako Music’s claim that it has not received the royalties owed for these songs, despite an agreement that included royalty payments from the songs they produced for Winky D.

Awaiting Winky D’s Response

To date, Winky D has not publicly addressed the copyright strikes, leaving many fans anxiously waiting for his perspective and his plans to resolve the ongoing disputes. The music community is eagerly anticipating how Winky D intends to deal with these legal challenges, whether through negotiation, securing licensing agreements, or seeking legal advice to avert further copyright issues.

The Role of Kenako Music in the Dispute

Kenako Music’s decision to issue copyright strikes highlights the critical need for clear and fair agreements between artists and producers regarding royalties. This situation underscores the complexities surrounding music production contracts and the necessity for transparent, equitable arrangements to prevent such disputes.

Broader Implications for the Music Industry

This incident is indicative of a larger trend of copyright disputes within the music industry, affecting artists not only in Zimbabwe but globally. The removal of Jah Signal’s ‘Sweetie’ from YouTube, following a copyright claim, is another example of the challenges artists face. These cases emphasize the growing scrutiny by copyright holders and the potential consequences for artists navigating the complexities of copyright and music distribution in the digital era.

As the music world watches closely, the resolution of Winky D’s copyright issues could set important precedents for artist-producer relations, the enforcement of copyright laws, and the dynamics of digital music distribution moving forward.

Karenyi-Kore Publicly Rejects Tshabangu

Moreblessing Ali’s Family Prepares for Dignified Burial Following Lawyer Job Sikhala’s Release

By A Correspondent| The family of the late Citizens Coalition for Change activist Moreblessing Ali is now focusing on laying their daughter to rest after the release of their lawyer, Hon. Job Sikhala, from more than 1 year and 8 months of pre-trial detention.

In a heartfelt announcement shared on Twitter by Moreblessing Ali’s brother, Washington Ali, the family expressed immense relief at Hon. Sikhala’s release and thanked everyone for their unwavering support during the challenging nearly two years, which lacked proper mourning and burial for their beloved family member.

“On the day of his release, Hon. Sikhala expressed his sentiments, emphasizing that it is now time to lay Moreblessing Ali to rest,” Washington Ali shared in the Twitter post.

Washington Ali said they are now in communication with the police and has had the opportunity to view Moreblessing’s dismembered body with plans now underway to provide her with a dignified burial.

The family expressed gratitude to everyone who stood by them, including the Sikhala family and the Nyatsime 22. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude once again to everyone who stood by us,” the statement read.

The announcement also mentioned that the family is in the process of confirming the dates for Moreblessing’s burial, and once confirmed, notifications will be sent out to the public.

Citizens Reject Biti

By A Correspondent

In a startling turn of events, Tendai Biti, deputy president of the Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), encountered vehement opposition during a funeral procession in Mabvuku, resulting in a public spectacle that could tarnish his political standing.

Eyewitnesses recount a scene fraught with hostility as Biti, arriving unannounced, was met with a barrage of insults and indignation from attendees.

Amidst the clamor, voices resonated, branding him a traitor and accusing him of betrayal, echoing sentiments of disdain and distrust.

The crescendo of condemnation crescendoed as Biti was swiftly ushered away from the venue, underscoring the magnitude of the backlash and its potential ramifications on his political trajectory.

The catalyst for this backlash stems from allegations linking Biti to clandestine efforts to solicit military support, notably from the notorious FAZ terror group, in a bid to subvert the leadership of Nelson Chamisa, a revered figure within Zimbabwean politics.

This revelation has ignited a firestorm of condemnation, casting doubt upon Biti’s allegiance and motives within the intricate tapestry of Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

The incident in Mabvuku not only underscores the fragility of Biti’s political legitimacy within the Tshabangu CCC but also raises pertinent questions about his credibility and standing among constituents.

The repercussions of today’s events on Biti’s political future and the broader dynamics within Zimbabwe’s opposition movements remain subject to speculation and scrutiny.

This is a narrative in flux, punctuated by uncertainty and intrigue, as Biti navigates the turbulent waters of public sentiment and political maneuvering.

Mwonzora Says Talk Of Third Term For ED Is Retrogressive

MDC-T President Douglas Mwonzora has condemned Zanu PF members in Masvingo Province for what he termed retrogressive and irresponsible move to push for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s third term in office.

Posting on Twitter on Monday morning, Mwonzora called on Zanu PF activists to respect the constitution and avoid any talk about extending Mnangagwa’s term of office.

“Any talk about extending the term of office of the current president is totally irresponsible and retrogressive. Zimbabwe is a constitutional democracy. We must respect and adhere to our constitution,” said Mwonzora.

Former Tourism minister Walter Mzembi has also voiced out againt proponents of Mnangagwa’s third term saying they are repeating the mistakes of the G40 cabal.

“Vapfana ava vabatwa nemweya weG40 ! Kuita kugarwa nayo kuti zete.”

United Kingdom based legal guru, Brighton Mutebuka however said Mnangagwa will not succeed as history has a funny way of repeating itself.

“In the end, I do not think ED will succeed in his quest for a life presidency. History has got a funny way of repeating itself! He simply faces too many obstacles & he is dealing with adversaries who know him very well & also have ties in the belly of the very same regime he is a part of, some of Lacoste v G40 part 2 but this time with a slightly younger version of Bob!,” said Mutebuka.

High Court, Supreme Court Judges Accuse Malaba Of Running Justice System Like His Backyard Tuckshop

By A Correspondent| Following Tendai Mashamhanda’s demand last week for Chief Justice Luke Malaba’s resignation over allegations of abuse of office, another letter from High Court and Supreme Court judges pleading with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to investigate Malaba has been unearthed.

The letter, dated 26 October 2020, accused Malaba of running the country’s justice system like his backyard tuckshop, interfering with every judgment, a situation that has left many Zimbabweans shortchanged in justice.

“It is now an open secret that the Chief Justice routinely interferes with the Magistrates and their decisions through the Chief Magistrate’s office.

“Judges are therefore so afraid of losing their jobs that they consciously and subconsciously make decisions they consider safe, even if these do not accord with the law.

“Where certain decisions are made which are unpopular with the Chief Justice, parties are directed to appeal with guarantees of success on appeal. It is also an open secret that no Supreme Court Judgment can be delivered without the Chief Justice’s approval,” states part of the letter.

The judges also lamented the appointment of judiciary staff without proper procedures, which has led to most complaints submitted to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) that do not align with the Chief Justice’s interests being thrown out or swept under the carpet.

“The promotion of senior personnel within the JSC without interviews means that complaints fall on deaf ears.

“There is also what the Chief Justice calls ‘Judgment by consensus,’ a euphemism for discouraging dissenting judgments. When the Chief Justice is approached by a ‘favoured dissenter,’ the dissenting judgment can be converted into the main judgment on instruction from the Chief Justice.

“It is an open secret that most of the decisions paraded as JSC decisions are, in fact, the Chief Justice’s personal decisions which he instructs the Secretary of the JSC to communicate as Commissioners’ decisions.

“There are also many other transactions that have raised eyebrows, including the purchase of the Chief Justice’s residence where the owner received much less than the amount requested from the government.

“The deliberately uninvestigated acts of nepotism and sexual harassment. Allegations against senior personnel within the JSC hierarchy remain a cause for concern.”

Mzembi Says Tsvangirai Complained To Him About Serious Fights In His Party

Former Tourism minister Walter Mzembi has shared intimate details of his interaction with the late MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai who was complaining about intra-party divisions within his party.

Posting on Twitter (now known as X), Mzembi said Tsvangirai told him that he would have preferred him as his successor because of the serious fights in his party.

Below is Mzembi’s full post;

On a flight from Washington to Amsterdam, in June 2009 , i am seated next to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai sipping whisky and discussing many subjects from politics , social to economics and suddenly he blurted;
” If i had my way i would make you my successor in MDC , the fights in there will destroy my Party when am gone . We need a unifier . There are serious fights in there worse than in your Zanu PF “
We laughed off this unimaginable prospect , with others in the Business Class cabin joining who had overheard this conversation. I later shared this with a number of top MDC officials , Nelson , Khupe , Job and we laughed it off for what it was ; a joke !
Many years later it has turned into reality , Zanu PF & its State Agencies has simply exploited a situation that has been simmering for years , so before pointing fingers at the external there is serious need for introspection by political actors in the Opposition formations on how they themselves have authored their own demise. The external simply exploits the internal fissures.

That said, there is a silver lining to every dark cloud , an opportunity for fresh start politics only this time apart from populism it must be built not only on grievances but on solid vision and promise of an alternative Zimbabwe , home grown political enterprising that carries the hope and aspirations of all . The maturity required for this task can only come from the lessons learnt . Everyone has been bruised , but it is the people who feel a greater sense of betrayal of reposing their faith for more than two decades into something that has morphed into an octopus worse than the creature they were trying to replace.

Inhumane Treatment of Matebeleland South Villagers At The Hands Of Police Condemned

Villagers from Matabeleland South province have bemoaned the inhumane treatment they experienced at the hands of the police following their arrest for illegal occupation of State land.

Government has embarked on a blitz to evict “illegal” settlers from State land amid accusations the exercise is meant to benefit a connected and powerful few.

The evictions have been carried out ruthlessly, with critics saying they mirror those conducted on locals by white settlers over a century ago.

Elizabeth Ndlovu (91), from Nyandeni village, said they were detained at a police camp overnight and denied access to food and water.

“I am not feeling well, I am staying with my grandchildren who are taking care of me through proceeds from artisanal mining. We were bundled into a police truck to Gwanda Police Station last week, where I slept on an empty stomach,” Ndlovu narrated.

“We appeared in court the following day, and we were remanded out of custody until February 23. We were called again for a meeting here at Nyandeni business centre by the police, we arrived at 8am and the police came in the afternoon.”

Zanu PF Nyandeni district chairperson Bongani Mlilo said they had occupied the land since 1998, adding that what was worrying him was that he was being treated like a second-class citizen in his country of birth.

He said police did not respect them on the fateful day after using food as bait before arresting them.

“People came in numbers following the announcement that there was a food distribution exercise. We were, however, told that we were under arrest for being illegal settlers. We have been paying taxes since 1998 for our land that we are occupying since then until 2016,” Mlilo said.

“We were told to stop paying taxes with the hope that our stay was going to be regularised by the lands officer in Gwanda, but to our surprise, he resurfaced last week after having disappeared for several years. He came with the police to arrest us because we have been deemed to be squatters on our own land.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa is now being surrounded by the wrong people who are advising him wrong things. We are not happy with this eviction exercise. It is a way of destroying the party (Zanu PF).”

Mlilo said they were abandoned by Zanu PF provincial leaders, despite being members of the ruling party.

“We will be having our internal elections soon and some will be coming down to us to seek votes, we are in this alone save for a single member who came to visit us while we were languishing in the police station,’’ he said.

Mlilo asked why they should be victimised instead of being allocated another place to relocate to, adding that they were peace-loving villagers.

“We have written several letters petitioning the lands office to regularise our stay because we want peace, our parents are now old,” he said.

“We are the ones who are now taking care of them by utilising these pieces of land to be productive.

“We supply Gwanda town with vegetables and meat. Our children are at schools here, once we move out, all these schools will be closed.”

Female victims narrated how those in the menstrual period suffered while in police cells.

“It was as if we were in hell. We did not have sanitary pads and one of the villagers received a message that her child had been raped after she was left alone at home. Another one who runs a poultry project nearly lost more than 500 chickens because there was no one taking care of them since she was in custody,” one of the disgruntled victims said.

“There are some who have chronic diseases, but ended up defaulting treatment because they had left their daily dosages at home. We had several ECD [early childhood development] children who failed to go to school during the period as they were also detained. I had to seek the services of a lawyer to intervene in their situation.”

The victims’ lawyer Mitchel Chigova of TJ Mabhikwa and Partners Law Firm said some of the arrested villagers were not homeowners.

“The matter is not yet before any specific magistrate. The State proceeded by way of summons as the State papers were not in order. Villagers were called to meetings in their various villages and on arrival, they were loaded onto police trucks and taken to the station. Some of those arrested were not the homeowners, while others have some paperwork (albeit insufficient),” Chigova said.

“Villagers were summoned back to court on February 23, 26 to 29. Due to the large numbers of the accused persons, there was a need to reduce the numbers coming to court on any day. For instance, those arrested from Nyandeni were 180. Managing such a large number at once is challenging.”

Chigova said the affected villagers were from Insindi and Sherborne Farm in West Nicholson.

Acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Bongani Mguni declined to comment on the matter.

Last week, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) intervened and stopped the eviction of villagers in Masvingo province who had been ordered to vacate their homesteads after their conviction for illegal occupation of State land.

The villagers’ lawyers Phillip Shumba of ZLHR filed an appeal at Masvingo Magistrates Court seeking to stay their evictions from their land pending the determination of their appeal against conviction and sentence which was filed at Masvingo High Court, ZLHR said in an update.

Magistrate Ivy Jawona granted the villagers application for stay of eviction pending the determination of their appeal at the Masvingo High Court. — NewsDay

Two Die In 12 Passenger Loaded Toyota Fun Cargo

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Two people have died in an accident involving a Toyota Fun Cargo, which was carrying 12 passengers.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the tragic accident, which also left six injured, occurred on the Rutenga-Zvishavane road when a Toyota Fun Cargo, a small car designed for commuting and carrying up to five passengers, veered off the road, overturned, and landed on its left side. The car was reported to have been carrying 12 passengers, exceeding its intended capacity.

The ZRP released a statement regarding the accident, stating that two individuals lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations, and the injured individuals were admitted to the same hospital for treatment. Four passengers fortunately escaped unharmed. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the police said:

The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which two people were killed whilst six others were injured when a Toyota Fun Cargo vehicle with 12 passengers on board veered off the road before overturning and landing on its left side at the 140 kilometre peg along Rutenga-Zvishavane Road on 17/02/2024 at around 2010 hours. The other four passengers escaped unhurt. The bodies of the victims are at Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.

Concerns were raised by commentators regarding the number of passengers in the vehicle, with some suggesting that transport operators may be bribing police officers to allow overloaded vehicles to pass through roadblocks unchecked. The situation has sparked frustration and sadness among the public, as precious lives continue to be lost in such accidents. Questions were raised about how a Toyota Fun Cargo, designed for a maximum of five passengers, could carry 12 individuals. There were also allegations that overloaded vehicles particularly in the Zvishavane area could pass through roadblocks by paying a fee of US$10 to the police.

Critics argue that the police should take responsibility for these incidents as they are responsible for enforcing traffic regulations. Allowing overloaded vehicles to pass through roadblocks poses risks to passengers and other road users. The public hopes that authorities will address these issues to prevent further tragic accidents and unnecessary loss of life.

Police Boss Caught In Dodgy Mining Hustles

Zimbabwe Police Chief Under Fire for Alleged Misuse of Force at Gold Mine

Godwin Matanga, the Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), is embroiled in controversy over accusations of deploying special unit officers to safeguard a gold mine in Midlands, where he is rumored to have stakes. The center of the storm is the Parkgate mine, a mere 30 kilometers from Kwekwe on the Kwekwe-Zhombe road, once owned by the late Guy Georgious and now overseen by his widow, Mrs. Georgious. The mine’s operations have been attributed to Moses Chako, a figure alleged to be close to Matanga.

Deep-throat sources reveal a constant presence of armed ZRP Support Unit (SU) personnel at the mine, sparking debates over the propriety and procedure of such assignments. “At any point, we have at least five members guarding the mine, despite earlier assurances of extra allowances which have never come to fruition,” disclosed a source, who preferred to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the matter. These officers are reportedly disgruntled, continuing to earn their regular wages without the promised supplementary income akin to VIP duty compensations.

The involvement of the ZRP’s SU, a key operational province in the national crime-fighting strategy, in private mine security raises questions about the misuse of state resources. Commissioner-General Matanga, when questioned about the allegations and his interests in the mining operation, stated, “I am more involved in farming than mining at present. However, I will look into the SU deployments.”

This controversy adds to a series of accusations against Matanga, who ascended to his position in February 2018, succeeding Augustne Chihuri. He has previously been implicated in corrupt practices and mismanagement, including the irregular procurement of police vehicles. “The allegations of inflated prices for police vehicles and now the misuse of police for private gain are deeply concerning,” remarked an observer of Zimbabwean politics.

In 2021, Matanga was among the Zimbabwean officials sanctioned by the UK government for alleged human rights violations, highlighting the international community’s concern over governance and human rights in Zimbabwe. The unfolding saga at Parkgate mine further compounds the scrutiny Matanga faces, shedding light on the broader issues of governance, accountability, and the rule of law within Zimbabwe’s law enforcement agencies.- Agencies

Chamisa Blasts Mnangagwa With Political Sarcasm

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has once again demonstrated his wit and humor in the political arena, taking a playful swipe at his long-standing rival, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa, often referred to as “the crocodile” due to his cunning and sometimes ruthless political maneuvers, found himself at the receiving end of Chamisa’s pointed sarcasm.

In a recent statement, Advocate Nelson Chamisa remarked, “AFRICAN WISDOM…You don’t challenge a crocodile when one of your legs is still in water. Blessed Friday! #ForEveryone”.

This clever quip encapsulates the delicate dance of power dynamics in Zimbabwean politics, where confronting a formidable opponent like Mnangagwa without proper preparation and strategy could prove disastrous.

The analogy of facing a crocodile while one’s leg is still submerged in water carries profound implications.

It speaks to the strategic approach required when dealing with entrenched power structures and individuals known for their cunning tactics.

Chamisa’s choice of words not only highlights Mnangagwa’s reputation but also underscores the importance of timing and readiness in political confrontations.

ZBC Worker Horrors

By A Correspondent | Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) is facing mounting scrutiny as employees accuse top management of exacerbating their working conditions and obstructing efforts to improve their welfare. Chief Executive Officer Adelaide Chikunguru and key executives have come under fire for allegedly undermining decisions aimed at enhancing employee rights and benefits, sparking outrage among workers.

“The conduct of Chikunguru, Toringepi, and Muchengwa has plunged our operations into chaos,” said a source within ZBC, highlighting the frustration among employees.

The discord within ZBC’s ranks centers around allegations that Chikunguru, along with Human Resource Director Julius Toringepi and Corporate Secretary Patricia Muchengwa, have intentionally delayed processes to increase workers’ salaries. This delay, workers claim, is part of a wider agenda to sabotage the directives of the new board led by Helliate Rushwaya, which seeks to usher in reforms to address longstanding grievances.

“The trio’s actions have been detrimental to our welfare, and it’s clear they prioritize their own interests over ours,” expressed a member of the ZBC workers committee.

Sources within the national broadcaster have accused the trio of stalling efforts to implement salary adjustments, plunging operations into disarray. The alleged loyalty of Chikunguru to the previous board, appointed by former Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, has fueled tensions within the organization. The fallout between Christopher Mutsvangwa, husband of Monica Mutsvangwa, and current Information Minister Jenfan Muswere further complicates the situation, with Chikunguru reportedly aligning with the Mutsvangwa faction.

“In their pursuit to maintain control, the executives have neglected the well-being of the employees,” remarked another ZBC worker.

In a scathing letter addressed to Rushwaya and the board of directors, the ZBC workers committee lamented the trio’s actions, accusing them of holding the public broadcaster hostage. The letter detailed instances of delay tactics and reluctance to prioritize employee welfare, citing egregious delays in processing recommendations from the HR committee.

“The executives’ disregard for our concerns is unacceptable, and it’s time for them to be held accountable,” asserted a representative of the workers committee.

Furthermore, employees claim that ZBC owes them back pay for several months outlined in the National Employment Council collective bargaining agreement, adding to their frustration and financial strain. Despite attempts to seek clarification and resolution, Chikunguru remained inaccessible for comment, further exacerbating tensions within the organization.

“As employees, we deserve better treatment and respect from management,” emphasized a ZBC employee.

As discontent simmers among ZBC employees, calls for accountability and transparency from management grow louder. The allegations of sabotage and neglect have cast a shadow over the national broadcaster, raising questions about its commitment to fostering a conducive work environment and upholding employee rights. As the standoff between workers and management intensifies, the future of ZBC hangs in the balance, with urgent reforms needed to address systemic issues and restore trust within the organization.- state media/additional

8 Year Delayed Victoria Falls Highway Dualisation Drags On

By Dorrothy Moyo | Eight years have passed since the Zimbabwean government’s announcement in 2016 about the dualisation of major highways, including the critical Bulawayo-Victoria Falls route. Despite initial assurances of progress and development, the project has seen little to no advancement, leaving the public questioning the fate of this crucial infrastructure initiative.

In a recent turn of events, the government has vowed to kickstart the rehabilitation of the deteriorating Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway within the next fortnight. This commitment is part of a broader push by President Mnangagwa’s administration to bolster the nation’s road network as a key pillar in achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. The President has outlined several key infrastructural endeavors for the year, emphasizing roads and dams’ significance.

“The Beitbridge-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway is pivotal for our economic integration with Southern African neighbors and access to prime tourist locales,” stated a Cabinet Minister, underlining the road’s economic and strategic importance.

However, the road’s current perilous state, plagued by potholes and severe wear, has sparked urgent calls for a comprehensive refurbishment. Financial hurdles and the impacts of seasonal rains have previously stalled progress, highlighting the challenges faced in maintaining and upgrading the country’s infrastructure.

In an address to Parliament, Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona conveyed the government’s resolve to proceed with the road’s rehabilitation, emphasizing the financial constraints and the innovative measures being taken to circumvent these obstacles.

“We are fully committed to improving our road infrastructure, despite the financial limitations we face due to sanctions,” Minister Mhona explained. “I’m pleased to announce that rehabilitation efforts for the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway will recommence within the next two weeks, leveraging funds allocated by the Treasury.”

Minister Mhona also noted the cessation of operations by Bitumen World, the initial contractor, and the broader implications of relying on limited domestic funding sources for such large-scale projects. “Our unique situation necessitates a different approach to road rehabilitation. While other countries enjoy lower interest rates from international financiers, we must rely on our resources, navigating through sanctions and prioritizing emergent needs like health crises,” he added.

The Minister praised President Mnangagwa’s leadership for providing strategic direction in these challenging times, ensuring that infrastructural development remains a priority despite financial constraints.

As the government prepares to restart work on this vital highway, the promise of progress brings a glimmer of hope to many. Yet, the repeated delays and the scale of the task ahead continue to temper expectations. The successful overhaul of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway not only holds the key to Zimbabwe’s economic ambitions but also stands as a test of the government’s ability to fulfill its infrastructural promises to the nation.

Caps United Target Billiat

CAPS United have joined the race to sign former Warriors star Khama Billiat, with Makepekepe coach Lloyd Chitembwe insisting the on-demand winger has ‘unfinished business’ with the Harare giants.

Tendai Biti Undressed In Mabvuku

By A Political Reporter- The Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change deputy president, Tendai Biti, was humiliated Sunday at a funeral in Mabvuku.

The backlash comes in the wake of allegations that Biti sought military assistance, specifically from the feared FAZ terror group, to undermine the leadership of Nelson Chamisa, the nation’s most popular leader. Chinese Manufacturing Cellphones While Africans Fight Fake Demons In Church Building: Video

“Beyond Stereotypes: A Closer Look at Africa’s Diverse Economy”In a world driven by digital media, a video recently made rounds online, depicting a stark contrast between continents: Chinese individuals engrossed in the manufacturing of cellphones, juxtaposed with Africans, portrayed as preoccupied with combating ‘fake demons’ inside a church that was once a factory. While the video may reinforce long-standing stereotypes of Africa’s economic activities being limited to the extraction and export of raw materials and agricultural products, a deeper analysis reveals a narrative far removed from these outdated perceptions.Africa, a continent rich in diversity and potential, is increasingly breaking the mold of being merely a supplier of raw materials to the world. From Cape to Cairo, African nations are embarking on a journey of economic transformation, characterized by innovation, technology, and a burgeoning manufacturing sector.Technology and Innovation: African tech startups are booming, with cities like Nairobi, Lagos, and Cape Town becoming hubs for innovation. These startups are not only addressing local challenges but are also competing on the global stage, offering solutions in fintech, e-commerce, healthcare, and renewable energy. The success of mobile money service M-Pesa and e-commerce platform Jumia are testament to Africa’s growing digital economy.Manufacturing and Industrialization: Contrary to the video’s portrayal, Africa’s manufacturing sector is on the rise. Countries like Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Morocco are leading the way in transforming their economies through industrialization. Ethiopia, for example, has become a hub for textile and garment manufacturing, attracting global brands with its competitive labor costs and investment in industrial parks. Morocco, on the other hand, has positioned itself as an automotive manufacturing powerhouse, with Renault and Peugeot operating large assembly plants in the country.Renewable Energy: Africa’s vast renewable energy resources are being harnessed to power its economic growth. Kenya is a world leader in geothermal energy, while Morocco boasts one of the world’s largest solar farms, the Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex. These initiatives not only provide sustainable energy solutions but also attract foreign investment and create jobs.Agribusiness Beyond Raw Materials: While agriculture remains a cornerstone of many African economies, there’s a growing shift towards value addition and agro-processing. Countries like Ghana and Ivory Coast, the world’s leading cocoa producers, are investing in processing plants to produce chocolate and other cocoa products locally, aiming to retain more value within their economies.Challenges and Opportunities: Despite these advancements, challenges remain. Infrastructure deficits, bureaucratic hurdles, and political instability in some regions hinder economic growth. However, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to create a single market for goods and services, presents a significant opportunity for accelerating economic integration and boosting intra-Africa trade. In conclusion, the simplistic narrative depicted in the video fails to capture the complexity and dynamism of Africa’s economic landscape. Beyond the extraction of raw materials and agricultural outputs, African nations are making significant strides in manufacturing, technology, renewable energy, and agro-processing. As these trends continue, the continent is poised to redefine its role in the global economy, moving beyond stereotypes and towards a future of innovation and prosperity.

Tshabangu Drops Chamisa CCC Negotiations

Political Reporter- The Sengezo Tshabangu’s CCC has dropped Nelson Chamisa negotiations and appointed Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti as the party’s rotational Presidents.

Below is the statement announcing the replacement of Chamisa:

Having met and deliberated on various matters affecting the party, and having noted the resignation of Advocate Nelson Chamisa as President of the party, the Citizens Coalition for Change National Standing Committee (NSC) resolved to fill in the vacancy left by Advocate Nelson Chamisa by appointing an Acting President.
The Acting President position will be held by the three Vice Presidents, on a 90 days rotation basis, until the party goes to an elective congress.
By record of the May 2019 Gweru Congress, and within the context of the leadership of the party as at 22 January 2022, Professor Welshman Ncube is the most senior of the Vice Presidents. In consequence thereof, the NSC resolved to, with immediate effect, appoint Professor Welshman Ncube as the Acting President. Professor Welshman Ncube will be the Acting President for 90 days calculated from the day following the appointment.
As previously communicated, the NSC re-emphasises the importance of keeping unity and cohesion in the party.
The NSC noted the uncertainties created by the departure of President Nelson Chamisa and delayed appointment of the Acting President, negatively impacting on the generality of our membership, and the people of Zimbabwe more generally.
The Acting President bears the responsibility to steer the party towards democratic transition, securing a prosperous Zimbabwe. The appointment of the Acting President and the resumption of duties by all office bearers based on 2019 structures marks the beginning of an uninterrupted path to restore stability and democracy within the party.
The Acting President will, forthwith, lead a confidence building process, reassuring the party membership and stakeholders to reposition the democratic agenda. This engagement process will involve deliberations with all aggrieved individuals or/and groups of people to secure consensus for an inclusive and value driven people’s agenda.
The NSC re-emphasises that, all deployees of the party in various positions and public office bears should continue to perform their duties for the betterment of our people.
It is evident that the cholera outbreak has caused unnecessary loss of life, inflation is increasingly out of control thereby eroding ordinary people disposable income, and that the current government is unable to arrest all these serious problems.
Our deployees in parliament and in the local government should keep deliberate focus on these important issues, to better the lives of our people.
Regarding the parliamentary leadership appointments, the party Parliamentary Caucus met on Thursday 15 February 2024 and selected Hon Lynette Karenyi Kore to be the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. 10 Health Benefits of Whisky

Like anything great in life, whisky should be enjoyed in moderation. However, you might be surprised to know that whisky is more than an enjoyable drink you share with your friends after work or at a special event. It actually carries some meaningful health benefits. When you do have that sweet, savory glass, you don’t have to feel bad about your decision. That’s right: Not only does whisky taste good, but it is good for you. Here are 10 surprising health benefits of whisky.

  1. Lowers Risk of Heart Disease
According to multiple studies, a glass of whisky a day can help reduce your risk of heart disease and heart failure. According to a study by Harvard, a moderate amount of alcohol raises the amount of “good cholesterol” in your blood. This is a natural protection against heart disease.
  2. Can Help Fight Cancer
Although it should not be used as the only treatment, research shows whisky can help fight cancer. Whisky contains ellagic acid, which helps absorb rogue cells in your body. This acid is also found in fruit and wine; however, it is found in higher levels in whisky.
  3. Promotes Weight Loss
Not only is whisky delicious in flavour, but it contains very little sodium and no fat. Plus, the sugar in the drink is simple sugar, which is quickly processed by the body. This can help promote weight loss. Moderate beer drinkers tend to lose muscle tone and increase their “beer gut.” By switching to whisky you can keep the pounds off while still having a good time.
  4. Reduce Stress
Between work, family, and everyday stresses, you deserve a break. If you are feeling stressed, a glass of whisky can take off the edge. Alcohol is known for calming the nerves. This is extremely beneficial for people with high stress or anxiety. However, alcohol should not be used as the only way to de-stress. Relying on alcohol as a way to calm your nerves can lead to further anxiety if abused.
  5. Control of Diabetes Risk
If you are at risk for diabetes, whisky is good for you. The sweet drink has been shown to reduce the chances of diabetes by up to 40%. According to a study, a moderate amount of whisky can improve your body’s ability to regulate insulin and glucose levels. This is because of all the simple sugars in the drink, which are easy to process. If you can control your body’s blood sugar levels, then you lower your risk for developing diabetes.
  6. Lower Risk of Dementia
Dementia is one of the most prominent diseases facing the elder population. While scientists are working hard, there is not yet a cure. Therefore, if you want to protect yourself from dementia, you need to take preventative steps to avoid the disease.

A 2003 study states that adults who consumed one to six glasses of whisky a week were half as likely to suffer dementia as non-drinkers and heavy drinkers. Once again, it is always important to practice moderation. While a couple of glasses a week will lower your risk of dementia, drinking multiple glasses a day will raise your risk exponentially.

  1. Fight Your Cold
Hottie toddies are common at the bar, but when you feel that cold coming on you should try to grab one right away. The mix of whisky, hot water, lemon and honey warms you up inside and helps fight that cold.

While the infamous drink doesn’t fight the flu directly, it does dilate blood vessels to make it easier for mucus membranes to fight the infection. So, drink up!

  1. Digestive Aid
After a large meal, it’s common to feel a rumble in your stomach. If you are feeling nauseous, a post-meal whisky may help ease your stomach. Since whisky is a high-proof, it stimulates your stomach enzymes. This gets your digestive system moving fast. Not only will your stomach work hard to break down the whisky, but it will also break down that large meal in the process. It’s nature’s own digestif and another health benefits of whisky.
  2. Reduces Blood Clotting
When you have an internal injury, your blood naturally clots to try and stop the bleed. However, if that clot spreads into another part of your blood system – like your heart, lung, or brain – there can be disastrous results.

Thankfully, whisky significantly reduces blood clotting. Whisky is a natural blood-thinner. Therefore, enjoying some whisky once in a while can reduce your risk of developing blood clots. Furthermore, blood clots often cause issues when they get stuck in bad cholesterol. As noted previously, whisky promotes good cholesterol, which fights the bad stuff. Therefore, if you do have a blood clot, it is less likely to cause damage, such as stroke.

  1. Boost Your Immune System
Not only does whisky help you fight common colds, but it can also help prevent it. Whisky contains ellagic acid, which alone with vitamins can help your immune system fight off illnesses.

Although whisky can be good for you, you will not receive any of these health benefits if you overindulge. Like all alcohol, whisky is meant to be enjoyed in moderation.

Wife Killed For Refusing To Cook Sadza

A man killed his wife after failing to stomach her refusal to prepare sadza for him when power had been restored.

For his misdeeds, Clayton Mabasa Hunda was jailed 14 years by High Court judge Lucy Mungwari.

During trial, prosecutors told the judge, Hunda, who was stone drunk at the time, sat on his now deceased wife’s chest and plucked off a few dreads on her head in a fit of rage.

The couple had reportedly shared a 750ml bottle of Gin.

Following the abuse, the woman later passed out and died.

The incident happened in 2021 but sentenced was handed down recently.

Hunda told the judge that his late wife had refused to cook for him as she was busy talking to her boyfriends.

He however said he committed the crime in his drunken stupor.

In her ruling, Justice Mungwari partially accepted the crime was committed out of provocation.

ZANU PF Cremora’s Fuel Garage Shut Down

Webster Shamu’s Fuel Garage Shut Down Over Price Display Violation

By Sandra X Ncube | Senior Correspondent | In a twist of fate that embodies the irony of transient glory and eventual downfall, Constance Shamu, wife of former Information minister Webster Shamu, found herself at the center of a legal saga as her fuel station, Webcon (Pvt) Total Highglen, faced repercussions for regulatory violations.

Yesterday, Constance Shamu appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, charged with failing to display fuel prices at her service station, a fundamental requirement in compliance with regulatory standards. The fuel company, where Constance serves as one of the directors, was fined US$300 for the offense.

The complainant in the case was the Zimbabwe Energy Regulation Authority (Zera), represented by regional compliance officer Delight Dembengwa. According to state documents, Dembengwa conducted routine checks at Webcon Total Highglen on February 14 and discovered a glaring omission—the absence of displayed fuel prices despite the station operating at full capacity.

Constance Shamu, aged 63, was subsequently arrested, leading to the immediate closure of the fuel station. Zera officials seized the fuel and secured the premises under official seals pending further legal proceedings.

Analysis:

In the grand theater of Zimbabwean politics, where once the stars of ZANU PF shone bright like Cremora wonders, the tale of Webster Shamu’s fuel garage serves as a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of power and prestige.

Once hailed as a prolific praise singer for the liberation war party, Webster Shamu’s ascent to political prominence was accompanied by accolades and adulation. Yet, as time unfurled its relentless narrative, the same hands that once wielded influence now grapple with legal entanglements and regulatory infractions.

The closure of Webcon Total Highglen, a mere decade after its establishment, echoes the gory takes of a party that once reveled in its glory. Like the fading embers of a once-blazing fire, the fuel station’s shutdown symbolizes the erosion of power and the inevitable march of time.

As Constance Shamu faces the legal consequences of regulatory non-compliance, her story stands as a cautionary tale, reminding us of the transient nature of success and the fragility of political fortunes.

In the tapestry of Zimbabwe’s tumultuous history, where narratives of triumph and tragedy intertwine, the fate of Webster Shamu’s fuel garage serves as a sobering reflection—a reminder that in the game of power, even the mightiest are not immune to the twists of fate.

Stay tuned as this saga unfolds, offering poignant insights into the complexities of power, politics, and the human condition.

Did Jah Signal Really Apologise And Not Dupe Pastor Charamba?

Charles Charamba copyright war

Analyzing the Sincerity of Jah Signal’s Apology: A One-Line Statement Amidst Copyright Controversy

By Showbiz Reporter | In the wake of a significant copyright tiff that saw gospel super couple Baba Charles and Amai Oliver Charamba successfully lobby YouTube to remove Jah Signal’s renditions of their songs, the sincerity of Jah Signal’s apology has come under scrutiny. The Charambas’ action highlights a broader issue within the music industry regarding copyright awareness and respect for intellectual property. Jah Signal, real name Nicodimus Mutize, found himself at the center of controversy for his unauthorized use of the Charambas’ songs “Kana Vanhu Vangu” and “Mai Charamba’s Tengai Mafuta,” leading to a public apology from the dancehall artist.

Jah Signal’s apology, notably brief and capped with an “I love you” to the offended parties, raises questions about its sincerity and effectiveness. According to conventional standards outlined by Berkeley, a genuine apology should acknowledge the offense, provide an explanation, express remorse, and make amends. Jah Signal’s succinct apology, however, appears to lack several of these critical components, leaving observers to ponder its depth and genuineness.

Firstly, the acknowledgment of the offense seems superficial, given the gravity of the situation and its potential repercussions on Jah Signal’s career. His failure to offer a detailed explanation or articulate a clear expression of remorse leaves a gap in communication, arguably minimizing the perceived sincerity of his apology.

The Charambas’ response to the situation has been notably measured and constructive. They have expressed no desire to stifle Jah Signal’s career, instead highlighting the incident as an educational opportunity for the artist and the broader music community regarding copyright laws and intellectual property rights. Their approach underscores a commitment to nurturing a respectful and legally compliant music industry ecosystem.

The inclusion of an “I love you” in Jah Signal’s apology, while potentially aimed at softening the emotional impact, could be interpreted as an attempt to deflect from the seriousness of the copyright infringement. Such a statement, though possibly well-intentioned, might not resonate with the fundamental principles of a meaningful apology, particularly in a professional context where the focus should be on accountability and learning.

Moreover, the Charambas’ efforts to prevent further damage to Jah Signal’s career, including working to avoid additional strikes against his YouTube channel, reflect a level of grace and understanding that underscores the potential for resolution and growth. Their stance not only highlights the importance of copyright awareness but also emphasizes the potential for reconciliation and professional development within the industry.

In conclusion, while Jah Signal’s apology may fall short of the conventional standards for sincerity and completeness, the episode presents a critical learning opportunity for the artist and the broader music community. The Charambas’ response, rooted in both accountability and compassion, sets a precedent for handling copyright disputes constructively, emphasizing education, understanding, and respect for intellectual property as cornerstone principles for the industry’s future.

Fraud at Zimbabwe’s Deeds Office: Priscilla Mushonga Enriched With Dead Man’s Signature

Comprehensive Reforms Underway at Deeds Office Amid Corruption Scandal Involving Ambassador Priscilla Mushonga.

Priscilla Mushonga

By Farai D Hove |In a significant development aimed at eradicating corruption within the Department of Deeds, Companies, and Intellectual Property, State Media has revealed a sweeping overhaul following numerous complaints of malpractice. The urgency of these reforms has been underscored by a startling case involving Ambassador Priscilla Mushonga, who is accused of unlawfully benefiting from her late estranged husband’s estate through the use of a dubious document.

Ambassador Mushonga has come under scrutiny after it emerged that she acquired assets worth USD 60,000 from her late husband, Dr. Mushonga’s estate, using a document allegedly signed by him three days posthumously. This revelation has raised serious questions about the integrity of operations within the Deeds Office, highlighting a glaring loophole in the system that allowed for such an impossibility, where a deceased individual’s signature appeared on a legal document.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and the Police Anti-Corruption Unit are currently investigating this and other complaints concerning the misconduct of officials at the Deeds Office. Mrs. Vimbai Nyemba, the Permanent Secretary of the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, confirmed the government’s resolve in addressing these issues, stating, “Investigations have been initiated into the records and information unit following allegations of corrupt and fraudulent activities.”

In light of the ambassador’s case and other similar incidents, the government has announced a series of measures designed to reform the department. These include staff rotations to prevent collusion, random staff searches, collaborations for ID authentication, and stricter client interviewing procedures for document replacement. These reforms aim to close the gaps exploited by those engaging in fraudulent activities, ensuring transparency and accountability within the department.

Mrs. Nyemba emphasized the department’s commitment to integrity, “These steps are intended to restore public trust and ensure the prevention of any further fraudulent or corrupt activities within the department.”

The scandal involving Ambassador Mushonga not only highlights the need for tighter controls but also puts the spotlight on the broader implications for Zimbabwe’s standing in the global financial community. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has previously raised concerns over the department’s record-keeping practices, which could potentially compromise the country’s listing as a low-risk country for money laundering and financing of terrorism.

As the government moves forward with these critical reforms, the case of Ambassador Mushonga serves as a stark reminder of the challenges ahead. With a firm commitment to reform and a series of comprehensive measures in place, there is hope for a reformed Deeds Office that operates with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. The nation watches closely as these efforts to cleanse the department of corruption unfold, anticipating a future where such egregious breaches of trust are a thing of the past.

Crop Disaster: Govt Speaks

Navigating the Storm – A Beacon of Hope Amid Climate Change

By Farai D Hove | In the wake of growing concerns over the devastating effects of the El Nino phenomenon, the government has launched a comprehensive strategy to combat the imminent threat of drought and secure food supplies across the nation. As crop conditions teeter between fair and dire, a beacon of hope emerges through a series of sustainable interventions aimed at climate-proofing the agriculture sector.

During a pivotal meeting held at a leisure resort 60 kilometers from Beitbridge in Matabeleland South Province, Dr. Anxious Masuka, the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, reassured citizens that the nation’s food security remains a top priority. The assembly, which included Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, focused on crafting actionable strategies to mitigate the adverse impacts of the current El Nino-induced drought.

Despite the harsh reality of delayed rains and stressed crops, the government remains optimistic. A key aspect of their strategy involves enhancing the Grain Marketing Board (GMB)’s strategic grain reserve to 1.5 million tonnes. This move, coupled with diversifying grain procurement sources beyond the GMB, aims to ensure a steady supply of essential food staples.

The Minister highlighted the pivotal role of constructing additional dams and expanding the area under summer irrigation as central to the country’s food security measures. With plans to increase summer irrigation areas to 350,000 hectares, the government is on a mission to produce the 1.8 million metric tonnes of food required annually for human consumption.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare is set to bolster rural food security through training programs and the Pfumvudza/Intwasa initiative. This approach not only aims to empower rural households but also to distribute 71,000 tonnes of food aid to those in need.

However, the government’s efforts extend beyond immediate agricultural interventions. An inter-ministerial committee, led by Dr. Masuka, has been established to address the issue of illegal land settlements, underscoring the administration’s comprehensive approach to safeguarding the nation’s land resources and ensuring sustainable development.

As the country braces for the challenges ahead, the government’s multi-faceted strategy offers a glimmer of hope. By climate-proofing the agriculture sector, enhancing irrigation infrastructure, and providing targeted support to vulnerable communities, the nation is charting a resilient path forward in the face of climate change. This concerted effort not only aims to secure the nation’s food supply but also to foster a sustainable future for generations to come.

President Chamisa Exposes Mnangagwa’s Incompetence

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has strongly criticized Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s touted economic revival measures, describing them as mere cosmetic changes.

Chamisa asserts that Zimbabwe’s currency crisis stems from a lack of confidence, which cannot be resolved by implementing currency boards or structured frameworks alone.

Previous attempts, such as introducing bond notes and gold coins, failed to address the underlying issues.

Chamisa highlights the importance of transparency and public trust, which he believes are undermined by the opaque nature of the proposed measures.

He argues that successful implementation of currency boards elsewhere relied on accountability and adherence to legal frameworks, qualities he finds lacking in Zimbabwe’s governance.

While acknowledging the success of currency boards in other countries, Chamisa emphasizes that Zimbabwe’s unique challenges, including a confidence deficit and external shocks, weaken the effectiveness of such measures.

He criticizes the government’s reliance on ineffective fiscal and monetary policies, calling for genuine political and economic reforms prioritizing accountability and transparency.

Chamisa rejects superficial solutions and urges Zimbabwe to embrace comprehensive reforms that address the root causes of its economic woes.

See Nelson Chamisa’s statement below…

THE STRUCTURED CURRENCY AND CURRENCY BOARD TOO LITTLE AND TOO LAME!

The currency crisis Zimbabwe faces is basically a crisis of CONFIDENCE.

This confidence deficit crisis can’t be addressed by setting up currency board nor establishing a structured currency framework.

This is why previous efforts which include the introduction of bond note, gold coins and ZIG failed dismally.

Moreover, the lack of transparency surrounding this process only fuels suspicion and undermines public trust.

As for the proposed currency board my assessment of where this has happened successfully shows that the success hinges on accountability, transparency, and adherence to legal instruments—qualities sorely lacking in Zimbabwe’s current governance.

The pervasive state policy inconsistency erodes confidence in the system’s integrity. Without these critical success factors in place, the currency board is doomed to fail.

For avoidance of doubt, I know that currency boards have been used in over 38 countries with notable success because of the “confidence effect” especially in circumstances where credible people of integrity and high standing were appointed into the board.

I am also aware that currency boards work well in circumstances where central bank holds sufficient foreign which will match demand for foreign currency at a pegged exchange rate.

Our situation is so dire because it is characterized by a confidence deficit, exogenous shocks (drought & subdued commodity prices) which have a net effect of depleting our forex will weaken the effectiveness of the so – called structured currency and currency board.

It’s clear that the they are resorting to ineffective fiscal and monetary policies as the economy continues to suffer from currency leakage and a lack of value generation, exacerbated by the refusal to implement a single currency status and abandon the flawed interchange auction system.

Instead of tinkering with ineffective superficial solutions, Zimbabwe needs genuine comprehensive political and economic reforms that prioritize accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.

Welshman Ncube Left Stranded In Yellow Sand

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a striking twist to the political landscape, the Citizens Coalition for Change – Tshabangu faction has unveiled a temporary leadership shift, placing Prof Welshman Ncube at the helm as the acting president.

Program on Sunday

This interim arrangement was made public by Jacob Mafume, the acting CCC spokesperson, during a press briefing in Bulawayo, heralding a novel rotational leadership strategy. Prof Ncube is set to preside over the party’s affairs for a 90-day period, paving the way for an upcoming elective congress where Tendai Biti is expected to succeed him, followed by Lynette Karenyi-Kore in this temporary presidency role.

This strategic maneuver stems from the party’s decision back in 2019 to adopt a rotational leadership model. In a parallel development, Lynette Karenyi-Kore has been elected as the leader of the Opposition in Parliament, a decision ratified by the CCC Parliamentary Caucus on February 15, 2024. These appointments, among others, are slated for formal notification to the Speaker of Parliament shortly.

The backdrop to these developments is marked by a controversial suggestion from activist Hopewell Chinono to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, advocating for interventions in Nelson Chamisa’s party and broader civil society between 2019 and 2023 to mitigate national tensions. This advice has precipitated notable repercussions, including two significant confiscations of Chamisa’s party assets post-2018 elections, military incursions into safe houses sheltering abused activists, and a concerted crackdown on Chamisa’s party during the 2023 elections, culminating in the tragic demise of campaigner Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya.

Hopewell Chinono’s strategy, which seemingly aimed at fragmenting Chamisa’s party to alleviate political strife, now appears to have left Prof Welshman Ncube in a precarious position, navigating the party through a period of uncertainty and reorganization. This leadership rotation marks a critical juncture for the CCC-Tshabangu faction, as it seeks to consolidate its ranks, reinvigorate its democratic mission, and address pressing national issues like the cholera outbreak and rampant inflation under the interim stewardship of Prof Ncube.

He further expressed his gratitude, stating, “You have brought joy to all Ivorians, bravo, bravo.

“In recognition of their achievement, both the players and the technical staff have been bestowed with the nation’s highest order by the President.

Pastor Charamba Receives One Line Apology from Jah Signal

By Showbiz Reporter | In a copyright dispute that has sent shockwaves through the Zimbabwean music industry, gospel power couple Baba Charles and Amai Oliver Charamba have successfully enforced their intellectual property rights against dancehall artist Jah Signal. The Charambas, alongside Fishers of Men, have caused YouTube to remove Jah Signal’s renditions of their two songs, “Shinga Muroora” and “Tengai Mafuta,” citing unauthorized usage.

Jah Signal, also known as Nicodimus Mutize, had garnered significant attention with his versions of the Charambas’ songs, amassing millions of views on YouTube. However, the Charambas were quick to assert their rights, highlighting that Jah Signal had neither sought nor received consent to use their compositions.

The dispute centers around Jah Signal’s recordings, particularly his rendition of “Shinga Muroora,” originally composed by the Charambas and featured on their 2001 album, “Exodus.” Despite their objections raised back in 2018, Jah Signal proceeded to release the song without acknowledgment or authorization. Similarly, his remix of “Tengai Mafuta,” a track from Mai Charamba’s 2007 album “The Gospel,” faced the same fate.

Responding to the controversy, the Charambas clarified that their actions were not aimed at stifling Jah Signal’s career but rather at upholding copyright laws and raising awareness within the industry. They emphasized the importance of obtaining consent, acknowledging original composers, and respecting moral rights.

While expressing goodwill towards Jah Signal’s career, the Charambas underscored the need for all artists to be vigilant against copyright infringement. They urged fellow musicians and music managers to familiarize themselves with intellectual property laws to avoid legal complications and safeguard their creative works.

This incident sheds light on broader challenges within the Zimbabwean music landscape, where many artists remain unaware of copyright laws and intellectual property rights. According to the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura), the lack of understanding about copyright among local artists poses significant risks to their careers and the industry as a whole.

Zimura’s executive director, Polisile Ncube-Chimhini, urged artists to take advantage of free copyright workshops and educational resources to avoid inadvertently infringing on others’ intellectual property.

As the music industry continues to evolve, cases like this serve as a reminder of the importance of respecting artistic integrity and legal frameworks to ensure fair compensation and protection for creators.

Stay tuned for further developments as this story unfolds.

Nelson Chamisa Roasts Stomach Politicians

15 February 2024.

The political prostitutes and belly politicians are exposed following the unceremonious departure of the political generator from the contaminated CCC.

Those who blamed the organic president are now shivering and quacking in front of a presidential vacancy in the infiltrated party. Right now, it is quite perturbing that people are fighting Chamisa with more energy than the supposed author of our suffering.

ZANU-PF’s incapacity to create employment for the unemployed graduates has created permanent greed in the nationals.

It has corrupted the minds to the extent of surrendering the democratic project to the enemy daylight. This is pathetic politics! We demand politicians who are ready to serve their constituencies.

Most of these stomach politicians who struck a shady deal with the sunken Harare regime through the imposter are the ones who grabbed 40k bribery from their masters.

It is now imperative to scrutinize ourselves before asserting a political position. Genuine cadres must rise to the accasion embracing the able leadership of President Chamisa.

It is on record that President Advocate Nelson Chamisa rejected the Leader of Opposition nonsense after thumping Mr Mnangagwa in 2018, with a motorcade and some trinkets on the table. He was invited to Polad where cars and other benefits were gotten by Madhuku et al but he did not give in. The people of Zimbabwe know that the only panacea to socio-economic economic transfiguration is ‘mukomana’.

There is nothing to doubt about the ability of Nero, he is a tried and tested cadre in the national democratic revolution. The oppressed masses are being illegally displaced and terrorized for building nice houses.

We need a return to legitimacy, rule of law, and constitutionalism in the motherland. Embracing dangerous freedom is the only answer.

The fight for justice, equality, and freedom should continue unabated. We should not be diverted by those who use state apparatus as spring boards for the primitive accumulation of the national cake.

How can a democrat sell struggle because he craves to be in the August house forever? It boggles the sane mind.

Donating our hard won seats to the desperate regime for three pieces of silver is the greatest betrayal in the history of mankind. They are refusing with our President’s face saying it is their intellectual property.

ZANUPF lite led Biti, Ncube, Mafume, Gomba, etc should now elect their leader will make a mark on the political horizon.

Hopewell Wins His 5 Yr Military-Assisted War On Chamisa, As Welshman’s Appointed CCC-Tshabangu President

By A Correspondent | The CCC-Tshabangu political party has announced the temporary appointment of Prof Welshman Ncube as its acting president. This decision, disclosed by Acting CCC spokesperson Jacob Mafume during a press conference in Bulawayo, initiates a rotational leadership model where Prof Ncube will serve for 90 days pending the party’s elective congress.

Following the conclusion of Prof Ncube’s term, Tendai Biti is slated to assume the role of acting president, with Lynette Karenyi-Kore set to follow in succession. This leadership rotation adheres to the party’s established structures from 2019. Additionally, Lynette Karenyi-Kore has been designated as the leader of the Opposition in Parliament, a decision reached by the CCC Parliamentary Caucus on Thursday, February 15, 2024. This and other related appointments will be formally communicated to the Speaker of Parliament in due course.

The development follows advice given to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces by activist, Hopewell Chinono to regularly descend onto Nelson Chamisa’s party or the civil society in the period 2019-2023 to split it so to reduce tension in the country. The development has led to 2 successive seizures of Chamisa’s party assets since the aftermath of the 2018 elections:

Tweets by Hopewell Chinono

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/KMdFuKUzFUeKLhXS/

1. The raiding of safe houses protecting tortured and raped activists in 2018-19 by the military following Hopewell Chin’ono’s advice that led to Emmerson Mnangagwa preferring Chin’ono’s advice in the place of his own spokesperson George Charamba, the latter who later leaked the details. (see 17 minute video below)

2. the takeover of Chamisa’s Harvest House building and bank accounts by military assisted agents in 2020.

3. The violent raids against Chamisa’s party in the 2023 elections and more that got a campaigner Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya killed, after Hopewell Chin’ono advised a military intelligence officer that Chamisa’s party has to split because he, according to Chin’ono, did not conduct register-to-vote rallies (something Chamisa did over 934 times in 2022 alone.)

4. The deployment of FAZ terror agents to both change election results and discourage voters.

The development now leaves Mr Hopewell Chin’ono celebrating as the nation’s “Daddy” 6 year operation to successfully “outmaneouver” (see video) every newspaper and the entire civil society with the assistance of the military so to reduce tension in the country, as he states in his announcement over his work for the ministry of Defence (see video).

The full press statement reads:

CITIZENS COALITION FOR CHANGE APPOINTMENT OF ACTING PRESIDENT

17 February 2024

Along with other positions, this will be communicated to the Speaker of Parliament appropriately.

President Chamisa Tears Into Emmerson Mnangagwa

Botswana Opposition Angered By Electoral Commission Visit To Zimbabwe

A Botswana opposition party has accused the Botswana Electoral Independent Commission (IEC) of visiting Zimbabwe to “learn tricks on rigging elections”.

IEC faced allegations of rigging in the 2019 elections and has been accused of conducting secretive registration processes for the upcoming 2024 elections.

These allegations have eroded public trust in that country’s electoral process and raised doubts about the IEC’s commitment to transparency and fairness.

Botswana National Front Secretary General, Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said the visit to Zimbabwe by IEC was an endorsement of Zimbabwe’s disputed electoral system.

Motshegwa said Zimbabwe’s elections have been marred by irregularities in the past, and IEC should not be seen to be associating itself with such a system.

“Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has become known as a disastrous and atrocious electoral institution run mafia style, aided by those in government,” Motshegwa said in a statement.

“This comes at a time when President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his Zimbabwean brother, as they call each other, Emmerson Mnangagwa are enjoying cosy personal relations as bosom buddies to push joint personal businesses using offices of President to set up electoral crime syndicates.”

He added: “It was, therefore, not surprising when just last week the two Presidents failed to explain to journalists what kind of notes they are exchanging in an effort to enhance democracy in Botswana and Zimbabwe through electoral reforms to deliver credible, free and fair elections.”

In a statement dated February 13, the IEC said it visited Zec to exchange notes on best practices.

“The Zec’s accreditation machine has been hailed as the best in various reports in terms of expeditious issuance of the accreditation cards,” the IEC said.

“Therefore, the IEC’s idea is to see what Zec has and compare with what other countries in the region have, with a view to see what can work for us in Botswana, as the commission prepares for the 2024 general elections.”

Botswana’s electoral body denied the accusations of election rigging, calling them “inaccurate and untruthful”.

“Consequently, the commission would like to inform its members of the public that these accusations are inaccurate and untruthful.

“In the commission’s assessment, the accusations are merely based on unfounded suspicion, belief and fear unnecessarily held by some of the Commission’s stakeholder who peddle them,” it said.

Mudenda Declares Mt Pleasant, Harare East Vacancies

By A Correspondent| The Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, announced in the National Assembly that vacancies exist in the membership of Parliament in respect of Mount Pleasant and Harare East constituencies, following the resignations of Fadzayi Mahere on 29 January 2024 and Allan Markham on 31 January 2024.

Mahere and Markham resigned in solidarity with Nelson Chamisa who abruptly quit on 25 January 2024 and ran away from the leadership of his CCC party, which was formed after the 23/24 August 2023 harmonised general election based on a two-page constitution which named Chamisa as the sole constitutional office-bearer.

Below is the announcement made by the Speaker, as captured in yesterday’s Hansard:

‘THE HON. SPEAKER: On the 29th and 31st of January 2024, Parliament received letters from Ms. Fadzayi Mahere and Mr. Allan Markham respectively, advising of their resignation from Parliament with immediate effect, in accordance with Section 129 (1) (b) of the Constitution.

Section 129 (1) (b) states as follows: “… a seat of a Member of Parliament becomes vacant upon the Member resigning his or her seat by written notice to the President of the Senate or to the Speaker, as the case may be…”. Ms. Mahere was a Member of Parliament for Mount Pleasant Constituency and Mr. Markham was a Member of Parliament for Harare East Constituency. Consequently, vacancies exist in the membership of Parliament, in respect of the two constituencies, and in terms of Section 39 (1) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], His Excellency the President and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, shall duly be notified in writing of these vacancies.’

Regarding when the by-elections in the two constituencies might be held, section 158(3) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe provides that:

Polling in by-elections to Parliament and local authorities must take place within ninety days after the vacancies occurred unless the vacancies occur within nine months before a general election is due to be held, in which event the vacancies may remain unfilled until the general election.

Accordingly, ZEC is expected to notify @edmnangagwa for the by-elections in Mount Pleasant and Harare East to be held within the prescribed period.

Mthuli Ncube Grilled Over Late Payment Of Farmers

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube was on Wednesday grilled in Parliament over late payment of farmers for deliveries to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB).

Legislators from Zanu-PF and the opposition said they had received distress calls from farmers who were worried that the delay would erode their outstanding dues given the inflationary environment.

This is despite the government’s perennial assurance that GMB would pay farmers within 72 hours of grain delivery.

Ncube said Treasury had plans to cover late payment for grain deliveries and acknowledged that inflation was eroding their dues.

“The RTGS component is in reference to the time when they supplied their products to GMB. With the inflation we are experiencing, it has affected the value of the RTGS component,” Ncube told parliamentarians.

“Coming to the payment, we are paying in Zimbabwe dollar in one portion and another portion in US dollars.”

Farmers have been complaining that late payment affected their farming business as well as discouraged them from delivering grain to GMB.

Ncube acknowledged the inconveniences that farmers face over late payment.

“We have been trying very hard to pay as quickly as we can before the Zimdollar component loses value. That is our strategy,” Ncube pledged.

“We have not been paying interest or compensation at all, but we endeavour to pay as quickly as possible before the situation gets worse.”

He added: “We will be making an announcement in this regard where(by) we believe it will be a last blow to increases in prices and generally inflation.”

Ncube said they now had a new policy to ensure that all arrears are cleared before the next cycle.

“That is exactly what we are going to do going forward to clear all arrears for the next season so that we can encourage the farmer to go back to the land, otherwise they will get discouraged and then see our agriculture going down as a result,” he said.

“Going forward, we will make sure that all these arrears are cleared before the next season resumes.”

Ncube also told legislators that they are making progress in introducing the Zimbabwe Mercantile Exchange (ZMX), a platform to facilitate the buying and selling of a wide range of agricultural products.

“The process of introducing the ZMX has taken quite a while, but we are pleased that we made very good progress. It is beginning to work,” he said before explaining how the ZMX would work.

“What we do at the beginning of each season is something very simple. We always announce a planning price so that the farmer can plan and see whether the price that the government is signalling is the right one and they want to take the risk and go on to the land and farm,” he said.

“We have been approached by the private sector players working with ZMX to also market commodities such as chrome for example, in addition to maize, wheat, sorghum and other commodities.

“We will see the commodity exchange begin to broaden its activities across a variety of commodities, both agricultural and mineral.”

JSC Forced To Act On Insensitive Travesty Of Justice After Rights Lawyers’ Protest

THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sprung into action by assuring an aggrieved victim of assault that it has adequate sign language interpreters, who can assist him during the trial of an aggressor, after it had stalled for close to one year.

The trial of Tendayi Nyambuya, the Headmaster at Kachimana Primary School in Mudzi in Mashonaland East province, on allegations of assaulting Kudzanayi Karota, who lives with a disability, had been halted since March, after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) withdrew charges before plea, preferred against the school head, who had been scheduled to stand trial answering to charges of assault as defined in section 89 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

When he appeared in court in 2023, Nyambuya was accused of assaulting Karota, who was one of the people who were in attendance at a School Development Committee meeting held at Kachimani Primary School, where the school head had an altercation with a fellow teacher during the meeting in the presence of parents and guardians.

Karota was reportedly shoved by Nyambuya and fell on the ground resulting in him sustaining an injury on his hand.

Karota then engaged Kelvin Kabaya and Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who on 24 January 2024, wrote a complaint letter to Magistrate Sekai Chiwundura, who is the Provincial Head for Mashonaland East province, under which Mutoko Magistrates Court falls, protesting against gross travesty of justice and complaining about the withdrawal of the charges before plea, by the NPA, whose prosecutors argued that it was meant to enable the Magistrate to secure an interpreter to assist Karota, the complainant in the matter, who suffers from a speech impairment.

Kabaya and Chinopfukutwa charged that since the withdrawal of the charges and the stoppage of the assault trial in March 2023, the matter had not been re-enrolled and an interpreter had not been appointed for purposes of commencement of the trial of Nyambuya.

The human rights lawyers protested that the inordinate delay in the commencement of the trial of Nyambuya violated Karota’s right to equal protection and benefit of the law and the right to access to the courts as provided for in section 56 and 69 of the Constitution.

The human rights lawyers asked the Resident Magistrate to take immediate steps to appoint a requisite interpreter to facilitate the commencement of Nyambuya’s trial.

Kabaya and Chinopfukutwa reminded the Resident Magistrate to bear in mind the individualised needs of Karota so as to ensure that she will be able to understand and follow court proceedings due to the unique nature of her disability.

The lawyers asked the Regional Magistrate to consider invoking the provisions of section 319A-H of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, which entails appointing an intermediary or support person for Karota, for purposes of trial and to also consider an expert assessment in order to ascertain the nature and extent of her impairment, the nature and extent of her communication skills, and how to maximise effective communication with the court.

In response to the letter of complaint, Magistrate Chiwundura assured Karota’s lawyers that she had since advised the NPA that the JSC has some sign language interpreters in its employ, who are ready to offer their services during Nyambuya’s trial.

Magistrate Chiwundura made a guarantee that whenever the NPA is ready to set down Nyambuya’s matter for trial, the JSC will facilitate the availability of sign language interpreters to assist with the provision of their essential interpretation services.

Presidium Meets To Discuss the Demolitions They Ordered On Their Own

PRESIDIUM CONVENES TO ADDRESS DEMOLITIONS AMIDST SELF-ORDERED CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL SETTLEMENTS

The nation’s highest leadership is poised to convene early next week to confront the repercussions of demolitions they themselves ordered on national television, aimed at curbing the surge of illegal settlements on State and council lands.

**Inter-Ministerial Committee Report:**
In response to directives from Acting President Kembo Mohadi and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, the inter-ministerial committee, led by Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, will present a comprehensive report to the Presidium. The report will assess the efficacy of the demolition campaign undertaken as part of ‘Operation No to Land Barons’, which unfolded between January 10 and February 9.

Dr Masuka underscored the importance of upholding the law against land barons, with numerous apprehensions made during the crackdown. He stressed the need for ongoing public education regarding the illegality of settling on State land without proper authorization.

**Government’s Stand:**
Minister Masuka reiterated the government’s unequivocal stance that State land is not for sale and urged adherence to established procedures for land acquisition. Expressing concern over the illicit sale of land by village heads, he emphasized its detrimental impact on efforts to maintain order in resettlement areas.

Meanwhile, Minister of Local Government, Winston Chitando, condemned the unlawful occupation of greenways and unauthorized parceling of land, reiterating the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.

**Enforcement and Food Security:**
The government’s crackdown on illegal settlements has resulted in the arrest of over 3,700 land barons, with ongoing investigations into illegal settlers. Concurrently, efforts are underway to bolster food security by increasing the Grain Marketing Board’s strategic reserves to 1.5 million tonnes, in line with Cabinet directives.

However, challenges persist in achieving food security objectives, as the Grain Marketing Board grapples with reduced purchasing capacity due to liberalized marketing arrangements for grain.

**Future Outlook:**
As the Presidium prepares to deliberate on the demolitions and settlement issues, stakeholders await further guidance on the government’s strategy to address the multifaceted challenges of land management and food security.

The impending meeting underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, as it confronts the ramifications of its own directives in the public eye.

Mnangagwa Playing With People’s Conscience

Ivy Kombo On Trial

Lawyers for Gospel Musician Ivy Kombo and Husband Accuse Prosecutor of Unethical Conduct

In a developing legal saga, the legal representatives of renowned gospel musician Ivy Kombo and her husband, Admire Kasi, have lodged a formal complaint against the handling of their case by the prosecution. The couple, embroiled in allegations of unlawfully acquiring conversion certificates to practice law in Zimbabwe without the requisite examinations, find themselves at the center of a contentious legal battle.

The controversy escalated following actions by the trial prosecutor, Anesu Chirenje, who is accused of attempting to introduce previously rejected evidence into the court record. This move has sparked outrage from the defense team, who have since expressed their grievances to the National Prosecuting Authority, labeling the prosecutor’s actions as an attempt to “smuggle evidence” into the proceedings.

Admire Rubaya, leading the defense for Kombo and Kasi, has penned a scathing letter to the authority, condemning the prosecutor’s tactics. Rubaya’s letter highlights a significant procedural misstep: the introduction of an email extract as evidence, which had not been disclosed to the defense prior to the trial. This, according to Rubaya, constitutes not only a breach of ethical standards but also a prejudicial act against his clients.

The defense’s letter criticizes Chirenje’s oversight in failing to include the crucial email extract with the initial affidavit, which contained only a schedule. Rubaya argues that this lapse in diligence demonstrates a concerning negligence on the part of the State, accusing the prosecution of employing “unfair, unlawful, abusive, and unprocedural” tactics.

Rubaya’s stern rebuke of the prosecution’s attempt to retroactively introduce evidence emphasizes the defense’s stance on the sanctity of procedural fairness and ethical conduct within the legal system. He asserts that the prosecution’s actions are not only detrimental to the integrity of the trial but also unjustly disadvantageous to Kombo and Kasi as they prepare their defense.

This legal confrontation sheds light on the intricate dynamics of justice and the paramount importance of adherence to procedural norms and ethical standards in Zimbabwe’s legal system. As the case unfolds, the spotlight remains on the actions of both the prosecution and the defense, underscoring the critical balance between legal strategy and ethical responsibility.- State Media

Since its inception 11 years ago, Malema has been at the helm of the EFF, steering the party through its various political endeavors.

The announcement came during a media briefing following the EFF’s manifesto launch at the Winnie Madikizela Mandela House, the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg. Malema expressed his readiness to accept the nomination for another term, emphasizing the growth and achievements of the party under his leadership. “I am going to accept the nomination. What else can I do? Under this leadership, we have managed to bring the party where we are now,” Malema stated, showcasing his commitment to continue his work with the EFF.

Malema also addressed criticisms regarding the turnout at the manifesto launch, countering claims of an underfilled stadium by highlighting the event’s success in attracting a substantial number of young attendees from KwaZulu-Natal. He took pride in the youthful energy of the crowd, noting the scarcity of older attendees as a sign of the party’s appeal to younger demographics. “I struggled to find old people at the stadium,” he remarked, indicating a strong youth presence which aligns with the EFF’s forward-looking vision.

As the EFF gears up for its national conference, the focus on leadership and future strategies becomes increasingly significant. Malema’s bid for re-election signifies a desire for stability and continued progress within the party, setting the stage for a critical assessment of its direction and policies in the years to come.

The move has left fans bewildered and sparked a heated debate over copyright infringement in the music industry. What makes this situation even more intriguing is the revelation that ‘Sweetie’ was allegedly a remix of Pastor Charles Charamba’s gospel song ‘Kana Vanhu Vangu’.

Jah Signal’s rendition of the track had garnered over 6 million views before it was abruptly taken down following a copyright claim by Pastor Charamba and his group, Fishers of Men.

The saga traces its roots back to 2019 when the copyright dispute first emerged. Since then, tensions have simmered between the gospel musician and the dancehall sensation.

The removal of ‘Sweetie’ from YouTube has brought this long-standing feud back into the spotlight, igniting fresh conversations about artistic integrity and intellectual property rights. The crux of the matter lies in the alleged infringement of Pastor Charamba’s original work.

While Jah Signal’s ‘Sweetie’ enjoyed widespread acclaim and commercial success, its origins have come under scrutiny.

The similarities between the two songs have raised questions about artistic inspiration versus outright plagiarism.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the complexities surrounding copyright law in the digital age.

With the ease of access to music and the prevalence of remix culture, artists must tread carefully to avoid stepping on each other’s creative toes. While sampling and reimagining existing works can lead to innovative creations, they also carry the risk of legal repercussions if not properly attributed or licensed.
