Fire Cars Burnt To Ashes In Mutare

AT least five vehicles which were parked at a car park in Dangamvura near Matongo Shopping Centre were reduced to shells this afternoon after a veld fire engulfed the parking lot.

The Mutare Fire Brigade Department quickly rushed to the scene and doused the flames, saving several other cars that could have been burnt.

A witness said a farmer who was preparing a field near the car park started a fire which quickly turned into huge flames due to the current windy conditions.

“In the absence of a fireguard and the tall dry grass at the car park, the fire grew quickly and burnt the cars,” said Mr Talkmore Baradza.

Veld fires are burning huge tracts of grasslands in Manicaland and the Environmental Management Agency is embarking on province-wide awareness campaigns against veld fires.

PYCD Intensifies Peace-building Trainings Ahead Of 2023 Elections

By A Correspondent- A Chipinge-based youth empowerment lobby grouping, Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust, is conducting peacebuilding training workshops in Manicaland where they are encouraging communities to desist from engaging in political violence.

The organisation’s director, Claris Madhuku, said they wanted to promote peace and tolerance among communities as the country prepares for the 2023 elections.

Madhuku said this in his statement to mark the 2022 International Day of Peace.

Below is PYCD’s 2022 International Day of Peace statement:

PYCD Statement on the International Day of Peace 2022 edition Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust (PYCD) joins the world to commemorate the International Day of Peace. The theme for this year in 2022, as announced by the United Nations, is “End racism. Build Peace”.The International Day of Peace is an opportunity for PYCD and the world to devote time to strengthening the ideals of sustainable peace, non-violence and ceasefire. This year’s celebrations come amid the Russian – Ukraine war that has escalated into an international humanitarian crisis threatening food security, international relations and world peace. As messengers of sustainable peace, PYCD is celebrating this day by presenting to the world some of our work to prove that local peacebuilding is needed more than ever if the world is to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and, in particular, SDG 16. SDG 16, which calls for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, seeks to provide access to justice by building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. Strong institutions promote the pursuit of administrative justice for vulnerable members of our society and assist in fighting racism and discrimination and instead build sustainable peace. We take note that racism, just like discrimination and violent conflict, undermines and erodes economic confidence through long-standing grievances that are endless and destructive. The theme for the year confirms that peace can only enhance sustained and long-term social cohesion, tolerance and mutual respect within communities. This can be achieved through concerted efforts by the government, business, civic society and community-based organisations like PYCD. PYCD has signature projects involving key stakeholders like the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC), Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) and Green Fuel Pvt Ltd, among others, to localise sustainable peace within our communities. PYCD has intervened in the various land and boundary conflicts scattered in over 20 wards of Chipinge district. These land and boundary conflicts escalated into uncontrollable violence that left houses torched, families divided, divorces increasing and livelihood opportunities declining. Through the involvement of the NPRC and the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, the conflict is now manageable. PYCD has since mediated the violent conflict involving local communities in Chipinge with Green Fuel Pvt Ltd. Local farmers in Chisumbanje and Chinyamukwakwa were arbitrarily arrested, beaten, and jailed in the absence of a platform for dialogue.
After a six-week training through a project titled “Revolutionaries and Revolutionaries, in Pursuit of dialogue”, the violence subsided. Although some of the localised community structures are still resisted by the company, these community actors have supported local peacebuilding efforts today. PYCD has also successfully intervened to calm down aggression and sexual violence that were historically and culturally justified in the local communities. Through one of our projects on “Providing Safe spaces for girls and Young women”, the work of PYCD has helped to offer counselling while promoting co-existence between men and women. The plight of girls and young women was heavily compromised during the COVID – 19 pandemic, ravaging livelihoods, families and power relations within communities. PYCD noted a gendered impact of the COVID – 19 pandemic on girls and young women, which in turn manifested into violent crime. In the current work of PYCD, we have observed that political violence linked to elections is escalating and therefore calling for intervention by ensuring that responsible bodies like the Zimbabwe Election Commission to engage productively to insulate 2023 from becoming a violent election. Violence linked to the election has remained a big worry for Zimbabwe since 2000. PYCD calls for the responsible involvement of young people in peace at all levels to create a massive awareness of the roles they can play as citizens other than being abused by political parties as perpetrators of violence. “I have been watching, listening. ??. I have had so many people inbox me wanting to have the ”last laugh” with me.

Truth be told there is no last laugh in situations like this. I am heartbroken for Felistas. Everyone is in pursuit of happiness and no one will knowingly put themselves in situations that are heart breaking and tormenting to this extend.

She wanted happiness. She wanted to be winning just like each ans every one of us.

Yes she is loud. Yes tonoitirwa ma 9hr lives tichitukwa. It’s okay.

But every morning she has to be someone else’s strength so she isn’t allowed to breakdown and cry and she isn’t allowed to fall. I know the feeling.

I do however applaud her for her courage that passed her ego to say “I was played”. Admitting your were played is one of the hardest things to do, because denial will always play a big factor.

So listen little sis. It’s okay, you have been humiliated, dragged, made to look crazy, have had to do worse to prove yourself and more. Now is the time to show them what strong women are made of. We fall but we always rise. So get off the floor, het back to business. Make us laugh again with your skits.

Be you.

As for everyone else. I think entertainment is over. This is a real human being going through the worst or it could be God doing his work. Either way let’s support her. Go to her business’s buy a dress or bra. Send her a kind word. Leave nice comments. For it shall all be well.

If you go to her store and try on a dress with her, send me a video I will buy one dress for( $10 according to her adverts) to 50 women. That’s my way of supporting her and the community.

God bless you all.”

South Africa Keen To Host 2027 World Cup

South Africa will bid for the rights to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the country’s FA (SAFA) has confirmed.

The tournament has never been hosted on African soil since its inception in 1991.

SAFA Chief Executive Officer Tebogo Motlanthe told BBC Sport that the association will inform FIFA about their bid.

“The NEC (National Executive Committee) has resolved that we must bid to host the World Cup for women in 2027,” Motlanthe said.

“We as [an] administration will duly inform FIFA and then start the process of hosting the World Cup.”

The Southern African country, who became the first country on the continent to host the men’s World Cup in 2010, will, however, face stiff competition from from a joint bid of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

The United States of America have also indicated a desire to bid for either the 2027 or 2031 World Cups.

A joint Scandinavian bid was once floated, but with Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden bidding together to host the 2025 European Championship, the continental tournament could take precedence.

Meanwhile, next year’s World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand and it will be the first finals with 32 teams, an increase of eight teams from France 2019.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Russia Kicked Out Of Euro 2024

Russia will not compete in Euro 2024 qualifiers as the nation’s ban from UEFA competitions remains active following its military invasion of Ukraine.

The European football’s governing body extended the sanctions that were initially imposed in February 2022.

The country will not be in the qualifying draw, which is scheduled to take place in Frankfurt on October 9. Host nation Germany will qualify automatically for the tournament.

A UEFA statement read: ‘All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022 which has further been confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022.

‘Russia is therefore not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw.’

The development sees the East European nation being excluded from a second successive international tournament after kicked out of the World Cup qualifiers.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Latest On Kadewere Injury

Tinotenda Kadewere has avoided, for the moment, surgery after Real Mallorca and Olympique de Lyon doctors agreed to apply a conservative treatment to cure the serious injury to the quadriceps of his right leg suffered earlier in the month.

The injury set back came on the eve of his supposed La Liga debut against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu two weeks ago, having completed his season-long loan transfer from Lyon to Mallorca on 29 August.

Kadewere travelled back to France to undergo an assessment by his parent club doctors, who now, in agreement with the Real Mallorca doctors, have ruled that the best option is to resort to a conservative treatment and, not through the operating room.

However, the striker’s recovery period remains unchanged, with his scheduled return still set for January 2023.

In the last two seasons, Kadewere suffered five injuries that, although they were not lasting, led him to miss thirteen games with his club, and Afcon qualifiers with the Warriors.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

President Chamisa stressed the need for political tolerance, peace and justice in the country.

Patients And Healthcare

Medications are the most widely utilized interventions in health care, and medication-related harm constitutes the greatest proportion of the total preventable harm due to unsafe care, let alone the economic and psychological burden imposed by such harm.

Acknowledging this substantial burden and recognizing the complexity of medication-related harm prevention and reduction, “Medication Safety” has been selected as the theme for World Patient Safety Day 2022.

The campaign is envisaged to provide the needed impetus to consolidate the efforts of the existing WHO Global Patient Safety Challenge: Medication Without Harm, emphasizing the need to adopt a systems APPROACH and promote safe medication practices to prevent medication errors and reduce medication-related harm. Special consideration will be given to areas where most harm occurs. The key action areas are high-risk situations, transitions of care, and polypharmacy.

The global landscape of health care is changing with health systems operating in increasingly complex environments. While new treatments, technologies and care models can have therapeutic potential, they can also pose new threats to safe care. Patient safety is a fundamental principle of health care and is now being recognized as a large and growing global public health challenge. Global efforts to reduce the burden of patient harm have not achieved substantial change over the past 15 years, despite pioneering work in some health care settings.

Patient safety is a framework of organized activities that creates cultures, processes, procedures, behaviours, technologies and environments in health care that consistently and sustainably lower risks, reduce the occurrence of avoidable harm, make error less likely and reduce its impact when it does occur.

Every point in the process of care-giving contains a certain degree of inherent unsafety.

Clear policies, organizational leadership capacity, data to drive safety improvements, skilled health care professionals and effective involvement of patients and families in the care process, are all needed to ensure sustainable and significant improvements in the safety of health care.

Amnesty International Calls For Immediate Release Of Wiwa, Sithole…

Tinashe Sambiri|Amnesty International has challenged the Zanu PF regime to release jailed political activists with immediate effect.

The human rights watchdog has described as unacceptable the incessant presecution of CCC officials Hon Job Sikhala and Hon Godfrey Sithole.

Read full article published by Pindula News:

Amnesty International (AI) has called on Zimbabwean authorities to release Members of Parliament Job Sikhala (Zengeza West) and Godfrey Sithole (Chitungwiza North).

Today, 21 September 2022, marks 100 days since Sikhala and Sithole were jailed at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

The Executive Director of Amnesty International Zimbabwe, Lucia Masuka, said the continued incarceration of the opposition legislators reveals the politicisation of the justice system in Zimbabwe. Said Masuka:

The ongoing arbitrary detention of Sikhala and Sithole is unjust and abusive. It has caused unspeakable emotional distress to them and their families.

Zimbabwean authorities cannot continue to incarcerate Sikhala and Sithole on trumped-up charges. They must be released immediately and unconditionally.

… The continued incarceration of Sikhala and Sithole is a travesty of justice. They are victims of a government hellbent on silencing opposition voices.

Zimbabwean authorities must stop criminalizing dissent and instead create a conducive environment for people to freely express themselves.

Sikhala and Sithole were arrested on 14 June 2022 after attending the funeral of political activist, Moreblessing Ali, who was abducted and killed by people with suspected links to ZANU PF.

Ali was missing for three weeks before being found murdered and her body mutilated on 11 June 2022.

Sikhala, Sithole and 14 CCC members are being accused of encouraging their supporters to cause violence in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, during Ali’s memorial.

They are facing charges of inciting violence and obstruction of justice and were denied bail several times by the courts.- Pindula News

The incident
concerned an incendiary device or explosive(s) thrown at the motorcade of our Change Champion
in Chief, Adv Nelson Chamisa as he approached the entrance of the venue to address a rally.

The report as narrated to our information department reflected a motor-vehicle registration number
AFA 1651 which upon further inquiry and investigation is incorrect.

However, the broad description
of the vehicle is accurate, as far as is understood.
Steps are being taken to verify the correct registration number of the silver car that was seen by
eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident and the Zimbabwe Republic Police are being informed of this error to aid their investigation.

We understand that the Police have recorded witness statements.

To that end, we are endeavouring to assist the Zimbabwe Republic Police with their inquiries to

Mnangagwa Giggles As Woman Calls Him: “Matsika PaNyoro!”

By Farai D Hove | The below video is of the ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa giggling profusely at his birthday party while being celebrated as a “Matsika PaNyoro,” which ironically and inversely refers to a loose person who is prone to bedding women all the time.

The poetic comments were made during a narration praising the coup leader, who is also undergoing accusations of raping the Australia based Susan Mutami when she was 15 years old. The unidentified female poet uttered the comments which many Zimbabweans have understood to have a twofold meaning. The former First Lady Grace Mugabe speaking on video called Mnangagwa, Manyengavana, meaning a paedophile.

Matsika means: the one who does very well, and Nyoro means: illicit intimacy. VIDEO:

Fadzayi Mahere Summoned To Chinhoyi Police

Chinhoyi Police CID Law and Order have summoned opposition Citizens Coalition for Change Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere over a yet to be known matter.

Posting on Twitter, Mahere said she will be heading to the Mashonaland west capital shortly with her lawyers.

“Have been summoned to CID Law & Order, Mash West in Chinhoyi. I will be heading there shortly with my lawyers. The Police have not yet indicated whether this relates to a potential charge or something else,” said Mahere.

Suspicions are high that it could be linked to the CCC rally in which she reported that a bomb had been thrown at their venue.

CCC misreported that a Honda Fit AFA 1651 was the vehicle which was used by the suspects to throw missiles at the CCC rally.

They have since issued a new statement exonerating the said vehicle.

I Am Not Going Anywhere, Wadyajena Brags To Opponents

Flamboyant Zanu-PF legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena has told opponents pushing for his ouster from a key Parliamentary committee that he is not going anywhere and will stay in post until 2030.

The Gokwe-Nembudziya MP was recently arrested over US$5 million fraud allegations at agricultural parastatal Cottco and released on bail.

He denies the allegations.

His arrest saw renewed calls for him to step down from the chairmanship of Portfolio Committee on Lands, Agriculture, Climate and Water since it also oversees Cottco.

However on Tuesday Wadyajena insisted that no one would remove him from the role.

“I am the chairperson of this Committee,” he said while speaking to officials from the Auditor General’s (AG) office as well as Agriculture Ministry Permanent Secretary John Basera.

“I am sure most of you are surprised to see me here (Parliament). You have heard a lot and have seen a lot but l am still here. I am gonna remain here.

“No one is going to remove me from this seat so welcome to this committee. I am the chairperson of this Committee and l am going to be the chairperson till 2030.”

Basera and the AG office staffers were supposed to give oral evidence on the country’s preparedness for the upcoming farming season.

Wadyajena then postponed the hearing to a later date.

Outspoken Norton MP Temba Mliswa has been among those leading calls for Wadyajena to be removed from chairing the committee.

“We were expecting that by now Parliament would have made a ruling on whether the Hon. MP should still retain his chairmanship in light of the serious allegations that he is currently facing,” said Mliswa recently.

“We strongly believe that Zanu-PF, as the political party that seconded Hon. Wadyajena, to the position of committee chairman would have by now asked him to relinquish the chairmanship of the aforesaid portfolio committee.

“It is our contention that like the proverbial rain that drenches all men equally, Hon. Wadyajena should step down … more so when the basis of the current allegations he is facing emanates from alleged corrupt activities from a parastatal that he carries oversight on.

“In terms of the Institution of Parliament’s internal rules, Standing Rules and Orders, specifically, National Assembly Standing Rules, Rule 51, Hon Wadyajena, is in breach and he has also fallen foul to the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Members of Parliament,” Mliswa said.

Amnesty International Demands Release Of Job Sikhala

The continued arbitrary detention of opposition leader and Member of Parliament Job Sikhala and MP Godfrey Sithole is revealing of the politicized justice system in Zimbabwe, Amnesty International said today, 100 days since their incarceration.

The ongoing arbitrary detention of Sikhala and Sithole is unjust and abusive

“The ongoing arbitrary detention of Sikhala and Sithole is unjust and abusive. It has caused unspeakable emotional distress to them and their families,” said Lucia Masuka, Executive Director of Amnesty International Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwean authorities cannot continue to incarcerate Sikhala and Sithole on trumped up charges. They must be released immediately and unconditionally.”

Sikhala and Sithole were arrested on 14 June 2022 after attending the funeral of political activist, Moreblessing Ali, who was missing for three weeks before being found murdered and her body mutilated on 11 June 2022.

Zimbabwean authorities have accused the MPs of encouraging their supporters to cause violence in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, during Ali’s memorial. They are facing charges of inciting violence and were denied bail when they appeared in the magistrates court. Several appeals for bail have since been rejected.

Zimbabwean authorities cannot continue to incarcerate Sikhala and Sithole on trumped up charges. They must be released immediately and unconditionally

As critics of the government and members of the opposition are frequently harassed and arrested, Amnesty International believes that the charges against Sikhala and Sithole, and the denial of their bail, is an effort to persecute and silence political opposition by the Zimbabwean authorities.

Zimbabwean authorities must stop criminalizing dissent

Lucia Masuka
“The continued incarceration of Sikhala and Sithole is a travesty of justice. They are victims of a government hellbent on silencing opposition voices,” said Lucia Masuka.

“Zimbabwean authorities must stop criminalizing dissent and instead create a conducive environment for people to freely express themselves.”

Hopewell Chin’ono Blocks Professor Jonathan Moyo

Journalist and influencer Hopewell Chin’ono has blocked Professor Jonathan Moyo on Twitter following their fallout yesterday.

After being blocked, Prof Moyo fired back accusing the opposition CCC of being hijacked by Chin’ono whom he said is using it to build his own profile.

“A structureless political party with no values, no ideology and no constitution can be hijacked, forget being infiltrated, by its noisy yet unaccountable social media influencers who use the party to build their own profiles; and who substitute party members with their followers!,” said Prof Moyo.

Civil Servants Gets Pay Rise

HARARE – Government has increased US dollar wages for civil servants by US$25, but the pay rise has failed to impress unions that feel it was way too tiny.

This follows Tuesday talks by government and unions under the National Joint Negotiating Forum.

Government pays civil servants in both US dollars and local currency, a dual remuneration regime that was introduced after the restive workforce protested that Zimbabwe dollar wages were being wiped out under continued price increases.

Following the latest wage talks, government increased the US salary component by 25 percent.

Wages in local currency remained static.

In a letter updating public sector workers Tuesday, Apex Council president Cecelia Alexander said the wage increase is with effect from 1 September, 2022.

“The employer offered an increase of 25 % on the USD100 to make USD125 and maintained the USD75 Covid allowances to make the total USD package USD200 with effect from the 1st of September 2022.

“The workers acknowledged the increase but chose to wait for specific modalities on how this is going to be implemented.

“The employer did not offer or table any increase on the ZWL salary and the workers demanded that this be also reviewed without fail.

“In the end, the government side asked for time out to consult,” she said.

The US$25 increase has however been dismissed as a joke by the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe which threatened more confrontation with the employer.

“The govt, as usual, thinks it’s all a joke. An increment of only $25 when service providers have already wiped out more than that, really? It would seem that govt is pushing teachers towards real action. It’s a dog’s breakfast,” said the vocal teachers group in a Twitter post Tuesday.

Court Hunts For Amputated Marry Chiwenga In Hospital

By- The court has remanded Marry Mubaiwa to 31 October from her hospital bed.

Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiwe remanded the ailing Marry on Tuesday in a case she is accused of assaulting her children’s maid.

Mubaiwa, who is Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife, is battling a chronic illness and had her arm amputated last week and is still hospitalised.

Her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa said that Mubaiwa was not fit to stand trial in her current state of health.

Prosecutors told the court that on 26 January 2020, the maid, Delight Munyoro, went to Hellenic Primary School in Borrowdale to collect Mubaiwa’s child.

It is further alleged that as Munyoro was waiting for the child at the gate, the family driver, Batsirayi Furukiya, went to collect the child and she remained seated in the vehicle.

When the driver was walking with the child to where the vehicle was parked, Mubaiwa allegedly followed behind him and started accusing Munyoro of telling her child not to like her.

It is alleged that Mubaiwa told Munyoro that she was a witch and slapped her on her left cheek using the back of her left hand as she was sitting in the car.

Several witnesses have so far testified in the matter, and Mubaiwa’s application for discharge was dismissed by the courts.

Mtetwa has on several occasions accused the State and the courts of receiving instructions from Chiwenga to persecute Mubaiwa. | NewsDay

Chaos At Beitbridge Border Post

By- The load shedding currently experienced in South Africa has disrupted operations at the Beitbridge Border Post, resulting in delays and the formation of long queues spanning as far as 4km.

The South African reports that a loss of power at the border meant that passport documents “could not be scanned by officials”, causing a major backtrail.

Reports indicate that southbound cargo heading into South Africa on Tuesday remained stuck on the Zimbabwean side of the border, as equipment used to process these deliveries has also been badly affected.
Cars, trucks, and even people on foot are now being held-up at Beitbridge Border Post due to “network challenges”.
South Africa has been experiencing longer power cuts over the past few days, with the country’s power utility, Eskom, implementing Stage 6 on Sunday.

Dudula Targets Foreign Truck Drivers

By-A South African xenophobic and Afro-phobic vigilante grouping, Operation Dudula has launched a fresh attack on foreign drivers in KwaZulu-Natal.

On Friday, these attacks came after a road traffic accident that killed 21 people in Pongola, northern KwaZulu-Natal.

A truck, which was being driven by an undocumented foreign national according to Operation Dudula, collided with a bakkie transporting schoolchildren on Friday, killing 19 pupils, a teacher’s assistant and the bakkie driver.

Operation Dudula provincial chairperson Mfanafuthi Dumakude on Sunday said the organisation will visit the families and seek to help where they can. Said Dumakide:

As Operation Dudula in the province, we want to get contact details of these families and the company (of the truck in the accident) and follow up on this matter.

From there we want to visit the families and see how we can make whatever donation to assist the families of the victims.

We have to make sure the company responsible for this accident must pay. If there are court cases to attend we will be there in support of the victims.

We can’t let this vanish in thin air like other similar incidents that were hot topics for a while and then died down later, as happened with people who killed others in Phoenix during the July 2021 unrest.

The truck driver reportedly fled after the accident before being arrested on Sunday.

Dumakude claimed the driver was an undocumented foreign national adding that the labour department should be challenged on this issue. He said:

It’s about time we, as an organisation that represents locals, look deeper into this and put pressure on the companies.

It’s one of the issues we want to fight, along with our alliance partners All Truck Drivers Forum in KwaZulu-Natal.

The driver, Sibusiso Siyaya (28) appeared in the Pongola Magistrates’ Court on 21 counts of culpable homicide.

He will remain in custody until his next appearance on Monday, 26 September for a bail application. | TimesLiveNews24

Who Owns This US$4,6mln Tender Company?

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has reportedly awarded a US$4,6 million tender for the supply, delivery and installation of a fiscalisation back-end system to Norwegian firm, Norway Registers Development (NRD) ahead of local bidders.

One of the losing local bidders told NewsDay that the tender was shrouded in secrecy, and also claimed that locals were sidelined despite having proven that they had the capacity to deliver the same equipment in and around the African region.

Zimra, however, told NewsDay that the authority was still hunting for a suitable supplier.

In response to questions from NewsDay, Zimra said: “We take note of your inquiry and wish to advise you that the information you are requesting us to release is confidential. Suffice it to say, the process of procuring a suitable supplier is still underway and we will advise the public once all due diligence has been completed and a supplier has been engaged.”

Efforts to get a comment from the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe were fruitless.

Zimra describes fiscalisation as the capturing of tax data or information on sales using fiscal gadgets.

As businesses record their tax data and sales, the information is concurrently transmitted to the Zimra server and the data captured cannot be altered.

Zimbabwe tax authorities and Treasury have previously hailed fiscalisation for increasing tax collection and improving compliance.

Contacted for comment, NRD group chief marketing officer Jurate Venskeviciute-Buciene said: “Thank you so much for your e-mail and questions. I will check on the details with my colleagues and will be back with the answers by tomorrow.”

NRD Companies is a global information technology and consulting group of companies specialising in governance and economic digital infrastructural development. It is headquartered in Norway.

“Since our inception in 1995, we have built more than 150 state-of-the-art registries and information systems, and we have delivered other projects of all imaginable types across four continents and more than fifty countries worldwide. Over the years, we have expanded our offerings so as to secure maximum efficiency of the ecosystems we build, with solutions and services such as digital signature, digital platforms for the financial and retail sectors, information distribution, and other economic digital infrastructure solutions,” the company wrote on its website.

ED Slapped With Court Action Over Judicial Capture

Friends of Shabani Mashava Mines Trust member Tichaona Mupasiri has filed a Constitutional Court (ConCourt) application alleging President Emmerson Mnangagwa has captured the Judiciary.
Mupasiri filed the court challenge after his application to be joined in the Shabani and Mashava Mines court proceedings were dismissed before the summons were served on the President.

Mupasiri had filed a ConCourt application seeking to be joined in the court proceedings citing Mutumwa Mawere, SMM Holdings Limited, Africa Resources, TAP Building Products and Mnangagwa as respondents.

The background of the matter is that on December 17, 2021, Mupasiri launched an application to have him joined to the ConCourt proceedings over Shabani Mashava Mines Holdings.

On December 24, Mupasiri received opposing papers through DMH legal firm whose managing partner was implicated in the case. This was despite his application having been served on the President as a public office bearer under Section 167 of the Constitution.

Mupasiri then wrote to Edwin Manikai, one of the DMH managing partners on December 27 challenging the authority of DMH to represent Mnangagwa in his official capacity as the President when the law says it should be the Attorney-General (AG).

Mupasiri then filed an interlocutory application on January 25 this year which was dismissed, and the matter was allegedly “swept under the carpet”.

Mupasiri was slapped with costs order in a constitutional matter which involved the President who was never served with the copy of his application because his office, including the AG’s office, refused to accept service.

On May 27, Mupasiri filed an appeal against the cost order, but Chief Justice Luke Malaba dismissed the appeal saying even wrong decisions by the Constitutional Court are not appealable and or reviewable.

“To date the 6th Respondent (President of Zimbabwe) has failed, refused and neglected to bring this Court into his confidence on the facts and circumstances that permitted him to know that an application that I launched was in existence,” Mupasiri submitted.

“What happened following this discovery of my application’s existence? Who made the decision to engage the services of DMH? When was this decision made? When did the Attorney-General know of the existence of the application? How did he know of this application? What were the terms and conditions related to the engagement of DMH to act on this matter?.”

He averred that the above questions have not been dealt with by the court in an open and transparent manner and in the interests of justice

He said his application is to test the rule of law and constitutionalism in the country.

“It is trite that in a constitutional democracy, no person is above the law including members of this court and as such the power granted to this court by the Constitution to hold public officers accountable to the Constitution and the consequential jurisprudence that ought to arise from this compels me to make this application after the promise made by this court to deal with the authority challenge that I made against the President opposition to my application without satisfying the Court that he was authorised in terms of the limitations imposed by S114 of the Constitution to do so,” he submitted.

“One would have expected at the very least this Court to live up to the promise of acting as a guardian of the rule of law. My application represented a precedent that this court was enjoined to determine in the interests of justice and accountability. I had no idea that allegations of judicial capture had some validity until I became a beneficiary of a judgment that was determined without any regard to the facts and the law,” he further argued.—Newsday

Why Mnangagwa Is Still In Power

National Patriotic Front (NPF) party spokesperson, Jealousy Mawarire has said President Emmerson Mnangagwa is not in power because the people “who installed him” still want him there.

Mawarire, a journalist and the executive director and founding trustee for the Centre for Elections and Democracy in Southern Africa (CEDSA) says the “kingmakers” may opt for Chiwenga, “nothing will stop them.”

He was responding to a Twitter post by one Jonathan Chirandu who had said, “With both Mnangagwa & his guardian Chiwenga having badly failed the leadership test, can we not say that a Chiwenga presidency is all but dead?”

In response, Mawarire said Mnangagwa was not elected based on competency. He said:

Was ED elected on the basis of ability that he can be judged to have failed? As long as those who installed him still want him there, he will stay & if they want Chiwenga instead, nothing will stop them, failure is the least of their concerns.

His remarks come as Zimbabwe is gearing for the 2023 harmonised elections amid concern that they might be disputed as violence is escalating.

There have been reports that security chefs have a stake in the ruling ZANU PF and government and have been pulling strings to determine the country’s leadership.

SA Load Shedding Cripples Beitbridge Border Operations

Operation Dudula Launches Fresh Attacks On Foreign Drivers

Top SA DJs Arrested In Bulawayo

By- South Africa Amapiano kingpins, Scorpion Kings evaded arrest in Bulawayo on Monday after a warrant of arrest had been issued over their non-appearance at the Victoria Falls Carnival.

The celebrated duo of Petrus Kabelo Motha (Kabza De Small) and Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe (Dj Maphorisa) together with songstress, Sha Sha, were billed to perform at the carnival in April this year but failed to turn up.

The organisers of the show who said they had incurred losses amounting to R414 147.00 demanded that the artists pay back the full booking fee, flights, and accommodation fees and apologise to fans for the incident.

However, the trio through Lawk Communications only committed themselves to refund only R230 000.

While the dispute was still to be finalised, the Scorpion Kings returned to Zimbabwe on Sunday and performed at the Boundary in Bulawayo later that day.

However, a court order dated 17 September, a day before they jetted into the country, had been issued by the Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Christopher Banda ordering that the celebrated music producers be arrested and “be safely kept until they are served with the summons against them by the High Court in Bulawayo for a claim in the sum of US$18 395.82”.
The alternative was that they provided security of the same amount to the Sheriff of the High Court.
The duo was initially meant to fly out of the country on Monday morning but were forced to reschedule their flight after police officers and the deputy Sheriff’s officers swooped in on them at the Holiday Inn.
They were rescued by the Bulawayo-based promoters, who roped in their lawyer, Zibusiso Ncube of Ncube and Partners to intervene in the matter.
They successfully raised the security and deposited it at the Sheriff of the High Court securing their passage back home.
Speaking to the media, Ncube confirmed that the duo had successfully paid the security fee and the matter will now proceed through the normal court process.
“There was an order of the court which attaches the persons of the two artists for some alleged claim from their previous appearance in Victoria Falls, there is a monetary dispute there. They are from outside the jurisdiction of this court and ordinarily, this court would not have the authority to deal with the matter,” said Ncube.
He added that since the duo did not have any movable property in the country the court had to arrest them and to avoid being arrested the duo were forced to pay the security fee.
After the drama had subsided, the duo who were in the company of their bookings manager Thuli Keupilwe, and their South African-based legal representative Katlego Malatji slipped out of the hotel just after 3 pm to Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport to catch their flight home. CITE

FIFA Bans Keita Balde

Senegal forward Keita Balde has been suspended from playing football until December 5 and could miss his country’s 2022 World Cup campaign.

Balde’s 90-day football ban comes after he violated protocols regarding anti-doping tests, an incident which occurred in April.

The winger was called to give a drugs test after Cagliari – the Italian side he left in the summer to join Russian outfit Spartak Moscow – lost 5-1 to Udinese in April.

The 27-year-old returned a negative result but in a statement on their website, Spartak confirmed the player had still been adjudged to have broken protocol and has consequently been suspended by the Italian National Anti-Doping Court.

The ban will come into effect now, meaning his suspension would rule him out until the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

Senegal play the Netherlands on November 21 in their opening Group A match. They also face hosts Qatar and Ecuador.

Balde has played 40 times for the Teranga Lions and was part of the team that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

LaLiga Condemns Racial Abuse Towards Vinicious Jr

LaLiga has condemned hate speech after some members of the Atletico fanbase chanted racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr outside their Metropolitano Stadium ahead of Sunday’s match against Real Madrid.

The supporters shouted the words, “You are a monkey, Vinicius you are a monkey” in a video published on social media just before Real’s 2-1 victory.

Local media also reported that monkey noises and chants of “Vinicius, die” were heard throughout the game.

The vile behavior came days after Vinicius was told to “respect rivals and stop playing the monkey” by Spanish agent Pedro Bravo after he celebrated scoring against Mallorca.

“We denounce all incidents inside and outside stadiums,” said a La Liga spokesperson. “We work with clubs to keep our football friendly and enjoyable.

“Hate speech has no place in La Liga and we always work with the clubs and the authorities to identify and bring to justice any such case.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Patients Safety

Wadyajena argues that Cottco has not raised any complaints against him and his company, Mayor Logistics, which is also being charged with fraud. Suspended Cottco bosses Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Fortunate Molai, Chiedza Danha and her company, Pierpoint Moncroix, are appearing in court on similar charges. They allegedly used US$5 834 000 meant for importing bale ties to import trucks, buy fuel and make an assortment of other payments that had nothing to do with the ties. Danha and her company, Pierpoint Moncroix, have also filed an application for refusal of further remand. Wadyajena and Mayor Logistics, who are represented by lawyer Mr Oliver Marwa, argued that the State failed to outline the role they played in committing the alleged offences. They were included in the remand hearing because some of the allegedly diverted money was used to buy 22 trucks that are now owned by Mayor Logistics. Wadyajena’s legal team argues that the State is saying the fraud took place within Cottco and was perpetrated by those working in Cottco. This, they further argue, means that there is no link to Wadyajena and his company. For the remand to stick, the State had to at least allege knowing association by Wadyajena and his company to deceive Cottco and that Wadyajena was present when the plan was hatched or when the fictitious purchase was carried out, they said. Wadyajena and his company said the State also failed to link them with Pierpoint Moncroix or how they could have influenced it into committing the alleged offence. “We have combed through the Form 242 but failed to notice any allegation to the effect that the 25 Freightliner trucks whose details are itemised were imported under the guise of a consignment of bale ties destined for the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe. “The State actually concedes that the trucks were correctly described as road tractors for semi-trailers in the consignment papers. Most importantly, there is no positive allegation that they were paid for by any money belonging to the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe”. Thus, Wadyajena argues, there was no connection between him and the company on one hand and the alleged business or deals of the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe and Giant Equipment, US-based truck supplier. It was also argued that the State did not allege that the shipment and purchase of the trucks was made from Cottco funds. Wadyajena said the allegations were “purely made with the calculated intention of improperly colouring the court’s mind and inducing public indignation” against him and Mayor Logistics. “This allegation is not capable of being proved at trial because it is patently false. It was meant to manufacture a non-existent link between the two applicants and the alleged criminal infractions at the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe.” Wadyajena and his company argued that the State’s allegations amount to a supply contract which was breached, which will render the case a civil matter. “The allegations seem to be that the bale ties that were ordered were not duly delivered. If the court agrees with this conception of the charges, it ought to find that there is no sufficient basis to have placed the accused on remand in the first place. This becomes a supply contract that was breached. It is a civil matter,” they said. Danha and her company, who are represented by lawyer Mr Harrison Nkomo, also filed their application for refusal of further remand arguing that the State failed to establish a link between them and Cottco, Mayor Logistics and Giant Equipment LLC, USA. They said it was unclear how Danha had direct control of Pierpoint Moncroix. Danha and her company also denied money laundering charges they are facing and claimed that they did not launder any proceeds of any crime, nor benefitted from the truck imports. The State led by Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti is yet to respond to the two applications. Meanwhile, reports circulating in parliament have accused the corruption-charged, Gokwe Nembudziya MP, Justice Wadyajena of paying both the Speaker, and the Clerk of Parliament. How can the Clerk ignore this Wadyajena matter and only respond to the one of Blinart?, a whistleblower asked ZimEye. Wadyajena cannot chair a committee when he has a case of corruption against him.

The Speaker and the Clerk were still to comment on the allegations at the time of writing.

Anonymous sources also alleged that ZANU PF Makoni South MP  Misheck Mataranyika (Vice Chairperson of the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (APNAC) is one of the officials paid by Wadjajena, and this was after Mataranyika had published the following response:

Honourable Chairman, Sir.

The issue that you address in that press statement is an important issue that we would all want to see being handled fairly and concluded logically within the dictates of the standing rules and orders of Parliament of Zimbabwe and laws of Zimbabwe.

However, I have strong reservations when you take and express the position of APNAC unilaterally without consulting fellow members. In my humble view a meeting of the Committee should have been called up and the matter tabled for discussion before agreeing on the course of action including drafting of a press statement, if that is the agreed direction to be taken by the Committee.

The problem with taking unilateral action is that it is likely to lack ownership by members of the Committee, and that is not good governance of an organisation. Members, or majority of members, should identify with the position and/ or line of action taken by the organisation, something that has not been tested in this particular case. This reasoning applies to this case and any other case that may come before the APNAC Committee in future.

With all due respect, I therefore call upon you, Hon Chair, to withdraw the statement and urgently call for a meeting of the Committee to deliberate on the matter. This is the correct, professional and transparent manner of running any Committee business, APNAC included.

I have written this response to your purported press statement in my capacity as both, a bona fide member and Vice Chairman of APNAC Zimbabwe.

M.D. Mataranyika (Hon)
Vice Chairperson APNAC Zimbabwe.

SA Accuses Zimbabweans Of Dodging Border Documentation

By-South Africa’s Home Affairs Department said Zimbabweans intending to pass through the Beitbridge border post to Zimbabwe were not being blocked.

Last week there were reports that the new Border Management Authority guards in Musina, Limpopo, were blocking the travellers.

Reads the statement issued by the department in response to the reports:

Border Guards are doing access control duties at the Beitbridge Border Post and they direct the Zimbabweans wanting to go back to their home country to the relevant queues so that they can be documented in accordance with the Immigration Act. This means that they need to be fingerprinted and have their demographic details taken.

However, there are people who have refused to be documented on their departure. They believe that now that they are going back home, nobody needs to ask them any questions at our border.

Nobody will be allowed to just waltz through our border to and fro without being documented. There are no exceptions in this regard, whether you go through a land port, sea port or an airport. This is regardless of your nationality.

There is no way South Africa will refuse anybody from going back home. But similarly, South Africa can’t just allow anybody to move in and out of the country without it being recorded anywhere.

Mai TT Opens Up On Her Countless Love Affairs

By-Mai TT reckons she has always attracted thieves and crooks in her numerous love affairs.

Since she broke up with Tapiwa Mutikani, whom she accused of infecting her with HIV, Mai TT has entered into five high-profile relationships in less than ten years.

The men she romantically got involved with after Mutikani, are artist Zizoe Pamyk, Nigerian businessman Obina Ugwa, the white fellow known as Chime, Tinashe Maphosa – whom she is now accusing of defrauding her.

There was also another man, identified as Shepherd, who was believed to be a married man who was part of her love life.

With relationships, about six men at the last count, since she started sharing her love life in public, one could wonder if she has a love charm which attracts men.

She has claimed publicly why some of her relationships went sour; she plays the victim of being used and taken advantage of by her lovers.

She is on record saying Zizoe used her for fame, as he wanted to boost his musical career while Tinashe defrauded her.

The relationship with Obina could not last as the Nigerian man wanted Mai TT to conduct herself like a typical subservient and well-cultured African woman.

H-Metro reached out to Mai TT on why her relationships do not last.
She said her problem was that she attracted thieves, though she did not want to include Mutikani, among the thieves.
“I am attracting thieves. Don’t talk about Mutikani, he has nothing to do with this,” she said. H Metro.

Mnangagwa Not In Office Because Of Ability
