Zim Crisis: President Chamisa Appeals To ANC

Tinashe Sambiri| CCC leader, President Nelson Chamisa has accused the Zanu PF regime of abandoning the core values of the liberation struggle.

President Chamisa, quoted by a South African radio station, urged the ANC government to assist Zimbabweans in the neighbouring country.

Said President Chamisa :
“It’s not by choice that Zimbabweans have to be exposed to such indignity. We are not bad people as Zimbabweans. We are not criminals. It is because of political circumstances.

We are good neighbours, when we are in problems we should help each other. We are not trying to ask for something that is impossible.

Zimbabwean problems are going to be solved by Zimbabweans. We do not expect a Messiah from outside, anywhere to come and help us. There has been a very impossible situation where our neighbours have chosen to listen to Zanu PF’s voice more than the voice of the oppressed.

Zanu PF has become a crocodile liberator. They have abandoned all the ideals of the liberation struggle.

They are now oppressors. They have become a black apartheid against their people.”

Madhuku Caught Offside

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens’ Coalition for Change has slammed Professor Lovemore Madhuku for attempting to romanticize the people’s struggle.

In a statement, CCC Namibia described Professor Madhuku as a man of shallow thinking.

This follows Professor Madhuku’s assertion that Hon Job Sikhala’s incarceration is a result of his party’s arrogance.

Read CCC Namibia statement:

Do we need political negotiations to get bail?

CCC Namibia interrogates captured Madhuku Lovemore.

07 September 2022

Citizens who subscribe to the yellow train in Namibia are infuriated at the shallow and myopic thinking of the whole professor Lovemore Madhuku, the NCA president. It is quite disturbing that an objective officer of the law could advocate for political negotiations between ZANU-PF and the Citizens Coalition for Change(CCC) so that the incarcerated Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole and the Nyatsime 14 can be released from jail. His perception does not conform to his status as a leader of a genuine opposition party committed to fighting judiciary capture and the selective application of the law.

Madhuku said that the perpetual incarceration of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala and other political prisoners is a product of his party’s arrogance. He postulated that if CCC was part of Polad, Sikhala and others could have gotten bail a long time ago because of negotiations. Shockingly, a lawyer now believes in negotiating and begging freedom instead of pushing ZANU-PF to respect the rule of law and constitutionalism. Bail is a right enshrined in the supreme law of the country. Sikhala, Godfrey and the Nyatsime 14 deserve bail just like Wadyajena, Prisca Mupfumira, Obadiah Moyo, and many ZANU-PF looters who are walking scot-free after stealing the national cake.

It is quite pathetic that those who should stand firm in defending fundamental human freedoms are the ones instigating law fare and interference with the judiciary by the politically inept ZANU-PF. Instead of blaming the system, defiant Madhuku chose to blame the victims of state repression, this is satanic and stupid. Citizens in Namibia would like to make it categorically clear that the change champions shall never sell the struggle for three pieces of silver. Social Democrats believe that justice and equality before the law is a prerequisite in a purported constitutional democracy.

His nasty comments came when the Sikhala family received touching and saddening news that our champion, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, was vomiting, struggling to walk, and was having diarrhoea. It was alleged that some people entered his cell at Chikurubi Maximum Prison during his absence and this is a case of suspected food poisoning. Madhuku, as a lawyer, must uphold the provisions of the constitution not to aid ZANU-PF satanists to abuse the law, especially against the genuine voices confronting state-sponsored abductions and high levels of human butchery.

It has become clear that Madhuku is a ZANU-PF puppet masquerading as a change seeker. Citizens in Namibia are now convinced that this moron was surely bought to defend the devil. We anticipated that Madhuku was going to sympathize with the victims of this selective application of the law but he chose to side with the oppressor. It is now a public secret that he sacrificed the struggle for a single twin cab he had received from Polad. Madhuku and NCA must be called to order. Selling the people’s struggle because of one car given to him is not only pathetic but sadist as well.

Let’s all register to vote against these shenanigans, belly politicians like this wayward Madhuku will only surrender our beautiful nation to the dogs. We should target 6 million voters for change in 2023.

He said as he was negotiating the steep ascent, the bus developed a fault and started rolling back.

“The passengers started screaming and there was confusion all over, but I managed to avoid plunging into the steep gorge,” he said.

Mnangagwa Gun Stolen

A 33-year-old man from Gutu, Masvingo has been jailed for seven years for breaking into two houses where he stole an assortment of goods that included an AK-47 rifle belonging to a member of the President’s Office.

Obey Mhuru was arrested last year when he was hit by a car while attempting to rob a motorist using the stolen rifle in the Vhembe View suburb.

Although he pleaded not guilty to three charges of unlawful entry and one of attempted robbery when he appeared before Beitbridge Regional Magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura, he was convicted on the strength of the State evidence.

What Happened:
Ronald Mugwagwa who was representing the state said on September 7 last year, at around 5 pm, Mhuru stole a Samsung J7 smartphone, Cash R1000, and US$70 after breaking into a cottage in Benne Knot Street. Occupants were not around.

The following day at around 5 pm, Mhuru raided a house belonging to the President’s Department where the occupants were away. He stole an AK47 rifle (shot butt) and a magazine with 30 rounds.

Both offences were discovered on September 9 and were reported to the police.

Mhuru was arrested early in October last year, at another house in Hill-Clause in the same suburb after being hit by a car as he attempted to attack one of the occupants using the stolen AK47 rifle.

The rifle was subsequently recovered, loaded with 19 rounds and the accused opened up to investigators during interrogations that he had stolen the firearm from a house at Benne Knot Street.- Pindula News

Kagame Embarrases Mnangagwa

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has told President Emmerson Mnangagwa to sort the Zimbabwe politics before he convinces the international community.

In a meeting held on the sidelines of the current Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2022, Kagame said it was high time the Zimbabwean government addressed the real scenario on the ground. NewZimbabwe.com cites him as saying:

You need to work hard to change the perception, you cannot bribe your way through it, you cannot just sweet talk some people, even if they say ok, we agree with you, things will not be fine.

The way the people of their own country feel about what is happening, it will always come out and before you even convince anyone from outside so that they cannot have a wrong perception about you, convince your own people.

Make sure they are with you and say look, whatever you are saying, we feel there is change, so concentrate on making sure your people are involved, they are benefiting, they can themselves push back on this story of perception.

If the country is hungry and people have nothing to eat, they are people who have nothing to eat and when the outsiders are saying it, do not go against them and say why are you saying that my country is starving? When actually people are starving, they are starving.

This comes when recent statistics have shown that thousands of Zimbabweans are leaving the country fleeing from the biting economy.

While addressing the media on the eve of Rwanda’s 25th liberation commemorations in Kigali in 2019, Kagame said:

The Zimbabweans are irreplaceable in dealing with their own country. It has to be practical.

I hope all of us understand. Even for us, we want to show we want results. We don’t want anybody to give us credit for nothing.

So, for us, it is to say we can be with you, and work with you and share whatever we can from outside but it’s a responsibility of the Zimbabweans as has been of Rwandans. When it comes to Rwanda, there is no question about it.

We want to do something and convince our own people, later on, convince these outsiders who, or sometimes who would never be convinced. The moment you are with your people, it’s a done deal.

Mnangagwa, like his predecessor, the late Robert Mugabe, have enjoyed respect internationally while they face criticism from Zimbabweans back home.

Mudimu Finds New Base In Wales

Alec Mudimu has joined a new club after returning to the Welsh Premier League.

The Warriors international, who can play as defender and a midfielder, has signed with Caernarfon.

He has moved to the new side after spending almost six months as a free agent, having left English fifth-tier club Altrincham in March.

The 28-year-old spent just two weeks with the English team, making two appearances before deciding to move away.

He returns to the Welsh top-flight under the same coach who was in charge during his three years at Cefn Druids where he made over 60 appearances and scored 12 times.

Mudimu also played for non-League clubs such as Stalybridge, Northwich Victoria and Stockport Town.

He then played for Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, Ankaraspor in Turkey and had an unsuccessful six-month spell in Georgia with FC Torpedo Kutaisi.

In June, the nomadic player trained with Polish second division club GKS Tychy but failed to get a contract with the side. He featured in a couple of friendly matches during his trial stint.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Eric Bailly Accuses Red Devils Of Denigrating Foreigners

Eric Bailly has accused Manchester United of favouritism in picking the matchday team, and claimed that selection was based on nationality rather than ability.

Bailly, who joined Marseille on loan in the summer, moved to Old Trafford in 2016 but struggled to to pin down a regular spot in the first team.

The 28-year-old made just four Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season after falling down the pecking order under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

His frustration was further compounded by the coaches’ preference for struggling Harry Maguire.

Bailly is hopeful, however, that what he perceives as favouritism based on nationality will end with Erik ten Hag now in charge at Old Trafford.

“The club should avoid favouring English players and give everyone a chance. [The club should] encourage competition in the dressing room, not just look out for some. I’ve always had the feeling that the national player was prioritised,” Bailly told The Times.

“That doesn’t happen at Chelsea or other big Premier League clubs. Some people take it for granted that they are going to start, and that weakens the team. Luckily [Erik] Ten Hag has a lot of character and I hope he can change that dynamic.”

Bailly revealed he held talks with Ten Hag at the end of the 2021-22 campaign, and decided to leave despite the 52-year-old’s desire to keep him because he wanted more regular playing time.

He added: “I met Erik Ten Hag in the dressing room at the end of last season when he went to sign his contract,” Bailly said. “I was packing my things because my intention was to leave, but he told me he wanted me to stay because he was going to give minutes to everyone.

“I agreed to do the summer tour with United, and he kept his word, but I don’t want to play every now and then. I want to do it every week and feel important. I want to get my confidence back.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Basic Hygiene

Half of health care facilities worldwide lack basic hygiene services with water and soap or alcohol-based hand rub where patients receive care and at toilets in these facilities, according to the latest Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) report by WHO and UNICEF.

Around 3.85 billion people use these facilities, putting them at greater risk of infection, including 688 million people who receive care at facilities with no hygiene services at all.

“Hygiene facilities and practices in health care settings are non-negotiable.

Their improvement is essential to pandemic recovery, prevention and preparedness. Hygiene in health care facilities cannot be secured without increasing investments in basic measures, which include safe water, clean toilets, and safely managed health care waste,” said Dr Maria Neira, WHO Director, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health.

“I encourage Member States to step up their efforts to implement their 2019 World Health Assembly commitment to strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in health care facilities, and to monitor these efforts.”

The latest report, “Progress on WASH in health care facilities 2000–2021: special focus on WASH and infection prevention and control”, has for the first time established this global baseline on hygiene services – which assessed access at points of care as well as toilets – as more countries than ever report on critical elements of WASH services in their hospitals and other health centres. For hygiene, data are now available for 40 countries, representing 35% of the world’s population, up from 21 countries in 2020 and 14 in 2019.

The newly established global estimate reveals a clearer and more alarming picture of the state of hygiene in health care facilities. Though 68% of health care facilities had hygiene facilities at points of care, and 65% had handwashing facilities with water and soap at toilets, only 51% had both and therefore met the criteria for basic hygiene services. Furthermore, 1 in 11 (9%) of health care facilities globally have neither.

“If health care providers don’t have access to a hygiene service, patients don’t have a health care facility,” said Kelly Ann Naylor, UNICEF Director of WASH and Climate, Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Reduction (CEED).

“Hospitals and clinics without safe water and basic hygiene and sanitation services are a potential death trap for pregnant mothers, newborns, and children. Every year, around 670 000 newborns lose their lives to sepsis. This is a travesty – even more so as their deaths are preventable.”

The report notes that contaminated hands and environments play a significant role in pathogen transmission in health care facilities and the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Interventions to increase access to handwashing with water and soap and environmental cleaning form the cornerstone of infection prevention and control programmes and are crucial to providing quality care, particularly for safe childbirth.
Coverage of WASH facilities is still uneven across different regions and income groupings:

Facilities in sub-Saharan Africa are lagging on hygiene services. While three-quarters (73%) of health care facilities in the region overall have alcohol-based hand rub or water and soap at points of care, only one-third (37%) have handwashing facilities with water and soap at toilets.

The vast majority (87%) of hospitals have hand hygiene facilities at points of care, compared to 68% of other healthcare facilities.
In the Least Developed Countries, only 53% of health care facilities have access on-premises to a protected water source.

To compare, the global figure is 78% with hospitals (88%) doing better than smaller health care facilities (77%), and the figure for eastern and south-eastern Asia is 90%. Globally, around 3% of health care facilities in urban areas and 11% in rural areas had no water service.

Of the countries with available data, 1 in 10 health care facilities globally had no sanitation service.

The proportion of health care facilities with no sanitation services ranged from 3% in Latin America and the Caribbean and in eastern and south-eastern Asia to 22% in sub-Saharan Africa. In the Least Developed Countries, just 1 in 5 (21%) had basic sanitation services in health care facilities.
The data further reveals that many health care facilities lack basic environmental cleaning and safe segregation and disposal of health care waste.
The report is being launched at World Water Week taking place in Stockholm, Sweden.

The annual conference, which runs from 23 August to 1 September, explores new ways to tackle humanity’s greatest challenges: from food security and health to agriculture, technology, biodiversity and climate.

CCC Raps “Captured” Madhuku

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens’ Coalition for Change has slammed Professor Lovemore Madhuku for attempting to romanticize the people’s struggle.

In a statement, CCC Namibia described Professor Madhuku as a man of shallow thinking.

This follows Professor Madhuku’s assertion that Hon Job Sikhala’s incarceration is a result of his party’s arrogance.

President Chamisa Exposes Mnangagwa Hypocrisy

South Africa To Observe Zim 2023 Elections

Through its participation in regional governance bodies, South Africa will likely act as an elections observer when Zimbabweans go to the polls in 2023.

According to International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor, South Africa and Zimbabwe used the bi-national commission to discuss political and security situations in both countries.

As a participating country in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Electoral Observer Missions, South Africa is expected to be given observer status.

Responding to a written parliamentary question from EFF MP Thembi Portia Msane, Pandor said South Africa believed in peace, security, and stability in the region.

“Free and fair elections are a prerequisite of good governance for the attainment of the SADC Vision 2050 and the aspirations of [the] African Union’s Agenda 2063.

“South Africa participates in electoral activities of the region through the SADC Electoral Advisory Council and is always part of the SADC Electoral Observer Mission,” Pandor added.

In 2018, the Zimbabwean government invited international observers – a move hailed by the international community.

“It will also be recalled that the 2018 elections were pronounced as having proceeded relatively quiet, free, and fair, notwithstanding recommended areas of improvement.

“The violence that erupted following the disputing of the election results by the leader of the then-MDC-T, and the subsequent government response, is well documented.

President Mnangagwa established a commission of inquiry into the post-election violence, which was chaired by former president Kgalema Motlanthe.

“The recommendations were released in public, which in South Africa’s view was a signal of commitment by the Zimbabwe government to their implementation,” Pandor said.

She added all SADC countries had adopted the regional body’s principles and guidelines governing democratic elections.

“It is expected that the SADC Electoral Advisory Council will embark on a pre-election visit to Zimbabwe to assess the country’s readiness to hold elections and evaluate the implementation of the recommendations of the SADC post-2018 election report.

“As indicated, South Africa participates in SADC Electoral Observer Missions and is also represented in the SADC Electoral Advisory Council,” Pandor said.

In July, News24 reported on the claims by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa that foreign embassies stationed in Harare were working with the opposition to destabilise the country.

Mnangagwa came to power through a military coup in November 2017, before winning a disputed general election in July 2018.

Faced with massive inflation, which independent economists peg at 502% per annum, and growing calls from government workers to down tools, he has blamed interference by Western governments.

Mnangagwa had great praise for China, though, which has been investing in the country.

Dudula Fights Extension Of Zim Permits By SA Govt

Self-appointed illegal immigrant watchdog Operation Dudula says it is heading to the apex court to interdict the Home Affairs minister’s extension of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (ZEP).

Zandile Dabula, national secretary-general of the movement, said it rejected the “vague” reasons behind the special advisory committee’s decision.

“Operation Dudula has instructed its attorneys to apply for ‘direct access’ to the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis, with an intent to prevent the Minister of Home Affairs [from extending the] ZEP.

“If Zimbabwean permit holders were serious about legalising their stay in SA, [they] would have taken advantage of the opportunity presented by the Department of Home Affairs.”

Home Affairs recently extended ZEP for another six months, from December 31 to June 30, 2023.

“Failure to make representations could mean the current permit holders don’t have valid legal grounds to advance or consciously elected to ignore legalising their stay in SA,” said Dabula.

Dabula said contravention of the Immigration Act was a criminal offence and should not be reasoned otherwise.

“The Minister of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi’s behaviour is consistent with that of Dr Joe Phaahla, who instead of instructing hospitals to report an illegality taking place at public hospitals elects to tell South Africans he is contemplating making lawbreakers pay for medical services,” Dabula said.

ActionSA said it was also concerned about the ZEP decision.

“South Africa has been under the grip of crime, economic squeeze and a seemingly unending plethora of social ills, allegedly due to the influx of migrants and mostly undocumented and illegal immigrants,” the party said.

“It is not long ago that violence flared in Kagiso, west of Johannesburg, when residents took the law into their own hands after the rape of local women by illegal zama-zamas, known to be illegal Basotho hiding in the myriad tunnels in the old West Rand mines.

“The extension of the Zimbabwean special permit to June 2023 is, therefore, a mockery of our constitutional democracy and further chips away at the autonomy of our State and its function, especially on managing our borders.”

However, the organisation that hauled the Department of Home Affairs to court over the permits says the six-month extension was not enough.

Luke Dzviti of the Zimbabwean Immigration Federation (ZIF) said while they were relieved, it was not a solution.

“The same problems we have now in reviewing the visas are the same problems we will have by 30 June. The conditions have not changed,” he added.

One reason for the extension was that the department had received few applications by Zimbabwean nationals for ordinary visas so far.

Last month, News24 reported that the department made submissions in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria that only 6 000 of the 178 000 permit holders had made representations on why the department should not terminate their permits.

The ZIF is one of the organisations that took the department to court over the ZEP issue.

It wants the government to be interdicted from arresting or deporting ZEP holders once their permits expire.

In the second part of its application, the ZIF wants the department to review the decision not to extend the ZEP.

The organisation also wants the department to restart the review process for permits and, in the meantime, allow ZEP holders to remain in the country.

Dzviti said they were not backing down on their court action, adding that even with the extension, the department still had “hostile” conditions for renewal.

He argued that in six months, conditions in Zimbabwe would not have changed.

“People have no homes in Zimbabwe. They built their lives here.”

The extension was welcomed by the Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa.

The organisation’s Rosemary Anderson said: “Requiring of ZEPs to leave South Africa would not only have negative consequences for the hospitality and tourism industry but would cause trauma and pain to people whose only sin was to legally look for a better life for themselves and their families.”

She added that the unemployment problems in South Africa would not improve even if ZEP holders left the country.

“For tourism and hospitality to deliver on its economic promise, we require an approach where all government departments, business, and labour join forces to remove unnecessary red tape, provide a tourism-friendly environment and elevate our destination status to the level it should be.”

ED Accused Of Tarnishing And Undermining Mugabe’s Legacy

SELF-exiled former cabinet Minister, Walter Mzembi, has accused the government of trying to tarnish and undermine late President Robert Mugabe’s legacy.

Tuesday marked three years since the late veteran leader’s death in Singapore, leaving a conflicted legacy after his ouster through military assisted coup in 2017.

Mugabe died after falling out with erstwhile colleagues in Zanu-PF who engineered his resignation, replacing him with his then deputy President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mugabe endorsed opposition leader Nelson Chamisa as a show of displeasure against ZANU-PF over his ouster from power.

Mzembi warned the current leaders against tempering with the dead.

“Regrettably he was forced off the stage by his own trusted Lieutenants who have been competing with him even from his grave deleting his legacy, revising history,” said the former tourism and foreign affairs minister.

“My warning to them is dead men rule this world , their philosophies are indestructible, its advisable to acknowledge contributions, build on it and write our own legacies because soon we will also be dead and we wouldn’t want to be deleted from national memory or our legacies desecrated.

“So, in the future we will reset history not from a selfish and narcissistic angle as they are doing but as a national redemption exercise. It’s coming soon.”

After his death Mugabe’s family refused to have the octogenarian buried at the national heroes acre in Harare preferring his rural village of Zvimba.

This led to squabbles with the Mugabe family which was ordered a year later to bury the former leader at the national shrine with matters spilling into courts.

Recently Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa made a chilling comment saying Mugabe’s stranglehold on power was backed by war veterans.

Mzembi said despite his conflicted legacy, Mugabe should be credited for the land reform program which was rolled out in early 2000s.

“President Mugabe was not an angel; human beings err, falter – and politics has never been a calling for the faultless.

“That said, (giving) land to successor generations is the highest honour and legacy for any generational leader for Land is God ‘s concept of empowerment and no Land Reform anywhere in history has transferred hands like an engagement ceremony of two lovers .

“There are consequences in land revolutions; those dispossessed are monied and strong lobby voices and they did a good job in ostracising Mugabe, right up to designing and plotting his exit.

“The rest is history. So, we remember him for his shrewd Pan African principled-ness and his sharp intellect unchallenged to this day.”

Madhuku Torches Social Media Storm Over Sikhala Remarks

UNIVERSITY of Zimbabwe law professor, Lovemore Madhuku, has claimed that detained legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole are victims of their own political party’s decision to refuse to dialogue.

Madhuku, also leader of the opposition NCA party, said this in an interview with Citizens Voices Network.

He was commenting on the failure to secure bail by the Nyatsime 16 – all members of the Nelson Chamisa-led CCC who were arrested in June over political violence in Chitungwiza following the abduction and death of CC activist Moreblessing Ali.

Sikhala and Sithole have been denied bail pending trial on five occasions.

“The issues of Job Sikhala and others could have been resolved by a dialogue process,” said Madhuku.

“The CCC members are now victims of their political party that refuses to dialogue and refuses to be part of POLAD,” Madhuku said.

He urged CCC leader Chamisa to engage President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the matter so the lawmakers and others would be tried early.

“I think that if there were issues to deal with the perception that is coming out strongly that this is a political persecution,” said the NCA leader.

“What would stop that political party from which they belong having an audience with the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa).

“The role of the President there is not to interfere with the courts but to engage the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) who would consent to bail. He is the one who would make an arrangement for an early trial and so on.”

Madhuku continued; “Every political leader has to know that these issues are political , so you do not go out there on top of the mountain and say the Magistrate or Judge is a political outpost when you still need either of them in other cases.”

He added; “I have been thinking about it and every time I reflect on this thing, Sikhala, Sithole and the Nyatsime perpetrators are now victims of the failure by their political party to know that politics is about engagement, politics is not always about fighting and if these had a good leadership, they would be out by now.

If you make it a political issue, you engage other political players and then the way it is done, we can say publicly the NPA is able to engage in political discussion. You need to persuade the NPA not to oppose bail.”

Man Jailed For Stealing Emmerson Mnangagwa Gun

Drogba To Visit Zim ?

Ivory Coast and Chelsea football legend Didier Drogba has announced that he looks forward to visiting Zimbabwe.

He made the announcement on social media this Tuesday following his meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday.

Both Mnangagwa and Drogba are among high-profile guests invited to attend the Africa Green Revolution Forum 2022, an annual nature-conservative summit, in Kigali.

The summit will name 20 baby gorillas at the 18th edition of Kwita Izina in Musanze.

Mnangagwa had on Monday posted on his social media accounts praising Drogba as a true African hero after their meeting.

Besides football, Drobga is known for his philanthropic work and investing in Africa, particularly his home country of Ivory Coast.

In 2013, it was reported that he bought a stake in an Ivory Coast gold mine. Ivory Coast’s communications minister Bruno Kone back then said Drogba took a 5 per cent stake in the mine.

He sold the shares in 2019 to Endeavour albeit without ever fully paying the first owner, the Ivorian parastatal group Sodemi.

In 2013, The Didier Drogba Foundation he founded invested US$3.8 million in the building of at least five health centres for women and children in Yamoussoukro, the capital, and the cities of Abidjan, San Pedro, Man and Korhogo in the west African nation.- Pindula News

Top Lawyer Pushes For Reza Arrest

Beatrice Mtetwa, the lawyer representing incarcerated opposition Citizens Coalition for Change legislator Job Sikhala yesterday applied for the arrest of deputy Prosecutor-General Michael Reza and prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti for contempt of court after they refused to furnish her with State papers for her client.

Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka had on August 18 issued a ruling directing Reza and Mutsokoti to release the State papers.

Sikhala and his co-accused opposition Citizens Coalition for Change Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole have spent a record 86 days in remand prison facing charges of incitement to violence allegedly committed during the funeral of opposition activist Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza..

Mtetwa made the bid to have the prosecutors arrested when she appeared before magistrate Taurai Manuwere yesterday.

She is representing the duo together with Jeremiah Bhamu, who is taking instructions from the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum and the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

Mtetwa said Mutsokoti lied before the court on August 3 that Sikhala’s docket was ready for trial and ordinarily, she was supposed to be furnished with the State papers.

“The two accused (Sikhala and Sithole) are being subjected to a different type of justice. They were given a trial date almost two months ago and up to now, no State papers have been provided,” Mtetwa said.

“We now request that Messrs Reza and Mutsokoti be placed in custody until the defence papers are provided … so that the State, particularly the prosecution, understands that the powers they wield are constitutional powers that they hold on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe and that they prosecute on our behalf and, therefore, such powers will not be abused.”

Asked why the State papers were not furnished, Mutsokoti requested for an adjournment to allow him to consult his superiors. After the adjournment, he claimed he had been advised that the intention was to serve the defence with the full set of State papers.

Manuwere will deliver his ruling on Friday.

Meanwhile, legal expert Robert Amsterdam has said Sikhala is a political prisoner.

Amsterdam was speaking during a Twitter space co-hosted by NewsDay assistant editor Alfonce Mbizwo and Alpha Media Holdings digital and online editor Silence Mugadzaweta recently.

The discussion was held under the theme Selective Application of the Law in Zimbabwe. Nyatsime 13. Is the Zimbabwean Justice System Fair?

“Throughout the country, really since the inception of self-government in 1980 and even before that, the history of Zanu PF in their brutality in the camps before independence just demonstrates a complete disregard for rule of law,” Amsterdam said.

“In talking about justice in Zimbabwe, we don’t need to call a spade a shovel. Justice does not exist for those whose political beliefs and party memberships differ from Zanu PF.”

Amsterdam said there was evident selective application of the law in the way the Sikhala case was being handled.

“The law is not as it is written, but the law is as it is applied. It is important that we understand that Sikhala is still in jail because he was representing the family of a murdered member of the opposition,” he said.

“It is the application of the law that determines the system of the law and when the structure has failed, and when murders of opposition leaders and tortures and rapes go on a consistent daily, weekly, monthly basis.”

Amsterdam added that he was going to submit documents to the international fora to substantiate his claims.

“We will be presenting documents citing specific cases in respect to this persecution of the political opposition that denies their rights under international law and the Constitution of Zimbabwe to international forums in the next 60 days,” he said.

But local lawyer Munya Midzi said Amsterdam should bring substantive evidence to prove his claims. Newsday

“Apostle” In Court For Stealing Mobile Phone

A self-proclaimed apostle from Montgomery in Bulawayo has appeared in court for stealing a cellphone.

Presiding over the case, Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda sentenced Somgoro Nkomo to 12 months in prison. Six months were suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar crime in the next five years.

The other six months were suspended on the condition that he completes 210 hours of community service at Cement Siding Police Station.

When asked the reason why he committed the offence he said he wanted to raise money for his preg_nant wife. The court heard that on 13 June 2022, and at around 5am, Yolanda Nyoni and Nkomo boarded a commuter omnibus from Cement Siding to town, and they occupied the front seat.

Nkomo then introduced himself as Apostle Dennis and preached the word of God while Nyoni was busy on her cellphone. When they arrived in town, Nyoni then put her cellphone in her bag before disembarking along Jason Moyo Street between 3rd and 4th avenue. She then discovered that her phone had been stolen and alerted her sister Sylvia Chuma.

Nkomo’s number then showed on Sylvia’s tracking device on the same day. On 2 July 2022, Nyoni called Nkomo asking him to bring back her stolen Samsung S6 edge phone but he then sold it to Nixon Mutimba. Mutimba was contacted, and indicated that he bought the cellphone from Nkomo. This led to his arrest, and the cellphone worth $245 000 was recovered.

UK Gets 8th PM Since Robert Mugabe Days As Zim Sticks To ED

UK has new PM, 8th since 1980, Truss too will be booted out if she fail – Zim on 2nd, both way, way past “use-by date”

By Patrick Guramatunhu | The British people have a new Prime Minister, the 8th one since 1980!

Liz Truss 2022 – present Conservative
Boris Johnson 2019 – 2022 Conservative
Theresa May 2016 – 2019 Conservative
David Cameron 2010 – 2016 Conservative
Gordon Brown 2007 – 2010 Labour
Tony Blair 1997 – 2007 Labour
John Major 1990 – 1997 Conservative
Margaret Thatcher 1979 – 1990 Conservative

In the same 42 years period, Zimbabwe had just two Presidents.
Emmerson Mnangagwa 2017 (coup) – present Zanu PF
Robert Mugabe 1980 – 2017 (coup) Zanu PF

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF apologists will attribute the stack reality of 2 leaders vs 8 to Zanu PF’s enduring “popularity with the Zimbabwean electorate” and the fear of change, metathesiophobia. A phobia, extreme fear, of the unknown that makes one avoid change at all costs!
The more rational and, indeed, obvious explanation is that Zanu PF has blatantly rigged elections to deny the people of Zimbabwe their fundamental right to a meaningful say in who ruled the country. Mugabe was not removed from office because he had lost his “popularity” with the electorate; he was booted out of office by the same Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut that had rigged elections and kept him in power.
It was no surprise at all that Mnangagwa and his fellow November 2017 military coup plotters named the coup “Operation restore legacy!” The coup was the climax of a factional struggle pitting Robert Mugabe and his G40 against then VP Mnangagwa and his Lactose including the top brass in Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services constituting Joint Operation Command (JOC), the junta behind the vote rigging and looting. When Robert Mugabe fired Mnangagwa from his post as VP it was clear his supporters in JOC were next. The putsch was to restore power back in the hands of the junta.
The only time Zimbabwe has ever come close to holding free, fair and credible elections was in March 2008. SADC leaders had forced Zanu PF to accept many electoral reforms rendering the party’s vote rigging machine ineffective.
It so happened that the elections took place at the time when the Zimbabwe economy was in total meltdown; inflation had soared to the dizzying height of 500 billion percent, the economy had shrunk by over 50% in the last decade alone, many companies had closed, shops were empty, etc. Metathesiophobia! What metathesiophobia! The people knew what they had in Zanu PF and they were desperate for regime change.
Zimbabweans were so desperate for regime change someone remarked that “if the choice was between Mugabe (Zanu PF presidential candidate) and the donkey, people will vote for the donkey!”
Morgan Tsvangirai (MDC presidential candidate) got 73% of the vote, according to Mugabe’s Freudian slip. But before the result was announced the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut was switched back on and it took six weeks to recount five million votes. Or rather, to whittle down 73% to 47%, enough to force a runoff.
During the runoff Zanu PF used the junta to punish the voters for having reject the party in the March 2008 vote. The nation was subjected to some of the worst politically motivated violence the country has even seen, millions were beaten and/or raped and over 500 were murdered.
“What was accomplished by the bullet, cannot be changed by the ballot!” thundered Mugabe as the wanton violence spread like a forest fire.
“Zanu PF has declared war on the people!” complained Tsvangirai as he dropped out of the race.
Mugabe “won” the one-horse race by 84%.
Ever since the party has reminded the people of 2008 wanton violence each time the party’s grip on power has been threatened. However, the threat to use violence has not been enough to subdue the populous particularly in the face of the country’s worsening economic situation. There have been many violent clashes, instigated by Zanu PF supporters mainly, already. Signs are, things are going to get worse as the nation gears for the 2023 elections.

Things are not any better in the opposition camp. MDC rebranded as CCC, had only two leaders in the last 22 years.
Nelson Chamisa 2018 (palace coup) to present
Morgan Tsvangirai 1999 to 2018 (death)
When the MDC was launched it had a constitution stating the party president could serve a maximum of two five-year terms. Tsvangirai had the constitution amended to allow him to stay in power beyond the ten years. Chamisa has resisted calls for CCC to have a constitution and party structures. He insists the party belongs to the people for the people and all decisions are by the people. All nonsense of course, CCC is no more a democratic party than the Democratic Republic of North Korea is a democratic country!
If the 2023 elections were free, fair and credible, Nelson Chamisa would defeat the Zanu PF candidate hands down for no other reason than that the nation is desperate for change. By failing to implement even one meaningful reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU to guarantee free elections Chamisa and company shot themselves in the foot because they will never win blatantly rigged elections.
In a healthy and fully functioning democracy with a well informed and diligent electorate, such as the UK, all those who hold public office compete amongst themselves and are accountable to the people who wield the vote to decide who governs. In a dysfunctional autocratic Zimbabwe all political power is in the hands of the few ruling elite and the powerless masses do as they are told, the tail wags the dog.
The new UK Prime Minister will have to hit the ground running because her in-tray is full and overflowing. The price of fuel has just doubled in the last six months; caused, largely, by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; and the price of everything else is going up. Inflation is now at 13% and the UK economy is predicted to go into recession by the end of the year. The whole nation is look up to her to provide the leadership, vision and solutions to all the nation’s teething problems.
“I will deliver!” promised Prime Minister Liz Truss, then entered the famous 10 Downing Street. She knows that if she fails to deliver her own Conservative party will boot her out before the next general elections in two years’ time or else the British people will boot her and many of her fellow party leaders out.
If you fail to deliver as a leader then you must go, no messing around; that is what has given democratic nations the competitive edge. Keeping leaders way past their used-by dates is has made countries like Zimbabwe textbook case failed states. Zanu PF has ruled Zimbabwe for 42 years and counting. Harare Workers Steal US$40,00 Water Metres

Five Harare workers including municipal police officers have been arrested for stealing 91 bulk water metres worth US$40 000 after they broke into council premises, working in cahoots with two other suspects.
The employees, stationed at the council waterworks are Special Tambudze (39), Dzidzai Kufakunei (47), Marcos Madamu (51), Evans Chikombo (32), and Killan Tafa (56).

They were allegedly working with two other suspects Samson Muchingami (46) and locksmith Augustine Muchanyuri (37).

The seven accused persons have since appeared before Harare Magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda. Allegations are that between December 8 and 15, last year, Tambudze, Tafa and Muchingami connived to break into council premises to steal the bulk water meters.

Council police officers manning the premises, Tafa, Madamu, Chikombo, and yet to be arrested Chaka and Ngoma, let their accomplices into the premises.

Muchingami, then assisted the accused persons to tamper with the triple lock key of the storeroom to gain entry. They then proceeded to loot 91 bulk water meters, before fleeing the scene. Informant reported the theft to police on December 18 last year.

On August 25 this year, Tambudze, Kufakunei and Muchingami were arrested and implicated their accomplices who were also arrested. The State has since opposed bail arguing stolen goods were of high value to council and the public.

State witness, Pardon Mutisi, a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer, testified against accused persons telling the court 30 out of the 91 stolen bulk meters were recovered from suspects.

The court also heard there were six other witnesses, and Tafa was a close friend of two key witnesses that he is suspected to have given the metres for safekeeping.

State also argued that Tafa had similar pending court cases of the same nature, committed at the waterworks department. -Herald

Bread Price Shoots Up

The bread shortage that has been largely described as artificial and temporary by market players hit the market over the past few days as bakers increased the price of the product.
Some retailers in Harare yesterday hiked the price of bread in local currency from around $790 to about $900.

A visit to some major supermarkets in Harare showed that bread is now costing $895 to $900.

One of the shops visited by NewsDay in Chitungwiza had no price tag and till operators revealed that it was being sold for $899 from $799.

At a shop in Harare, some bread brands were selling at $895,99 from $785, while others were pegged at $789,99.

At tuckshops, the bread is costing US$1,20. The 20 cents is being rated at between $140 and $200.

In Zimbabwe dollar terms, the bread price translates to between $840 and $900, using the parallel market rate.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president Denford Mutashu said: “The bakers should apprise the nation on why the price of a key basic commodity has gone up at a time when expectations point otherwise.”

Mutashu, however, said his association had not received any reports of bread shortages from the market.

National Bakers Association of Zimbabwe vice-president Lucky Zinyama said he was not aware of any bread price hike, but confirmed that the price of flour had been going up.

“The price of flour has been going up. When we had bread prices at $700 wholesale we had two flour price increases. We have absorbed those. But I don’t think our members will keep on absorbing any other increase. I also gather there might be another round of flour price increase in which case our members will not be able to take that,” he said. Newsday

I Stole Cellphone To Raise Cash For Pregnant Wife – Church Leader

HH Throws Gays Under The Bus

By-The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilem, says his administration does not support gay rights.

In a video circulating on social media, Hichillema was captured saying his party has never supported gay rights.

HH’s anti-gay attitude has been seen by many to contradict the west, which has shown support for the new Zambia President.

Dudula Declares Fresh War Against Zimbabweans

By- A xenophobic movement and self-appointed illegal immigrant watchdog in South Africa, Operation Dudula said it wanted to challenge the extension of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits by the government in court.

Zandile Dabula, national secretary-general of the movement, said it rejects the “vague” reasons behind the special advisory committee’s decision. TimesLive’s Kgaugelo Maswneng cites Dabula as saying:

Operation Dudula has instructed its attorneys to apply for ‘direct access’ to the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis, with an intent to prevent the minister of home affairs [from extending the] ZEP.

If Zimbabwean permit holders were serious about legalising their stay in SA, [they] would have taken advantage of the opportunity presented by the department of home affairs.

Failure to make representations could mean the current permit holders don’t have valid legal grounds to advance or consciously elect to ignore legalising their stay in SA.

The minister of home affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi’s behaviour is consistent with that of Dr Joe Phaahla, who instead of instructing hospitals to report illegality taking place at public hospitals elects to tell South Africans he is contemplating making lawbreakers pay for medical service

Dabula added that Operation Dudula said contravention of the Immigration Act is a criminal offence and should not be reasoned otherwise.

Home affairs recently extended ZEPs for another six months, from December 31 to June 30 2023. One reason for the extension was that the department had received few applications by Zimbabwean nationals for ordinary visas so far.

ActionSA echoed Operation Dudula’s remarks saying South Africa has been under the grip of crime, economic squeeze and unending social ills, “allegedly due to the influx of migrants and mostly by undocumented and illegal immigrants.” Added the party:

The extension of the Zimbabwean special permit to June 2023 is, therefore, a mockery of our constitutional democracy and further chips away at the autonomy of our state and its function, especially on managing our borders.

Fresh Onslaught Against Haruzivishe?

By- The magistrates’ Court in Harare has issued a warrant for the arrest of CCC activist Makomborero Haruzivishe.

The warrant of arrest was issued after the activist failed to attend court.

Haruzivishe spent 14 months in remand prison and was released in January.

He says he is facing public order offences.

Zambian Shops Reduce Prices As Kwacha Gains More Value

By James Gwati- Shops in Zambia have drastically reduced prices of essential commodities owing to the appreciation in the value of that country’s currency.

Once the worst in the world in recent years, the Zambian Kwacha last week became one of the best currencies globally.

The Kwacha has been stabilized by the coming last year of the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and its leader Hakainde Hichilema, to lead the once troubled nation.

Josepha Kalimbwe, the ruling party’s spokesperson, announced the price reduction of goods and services.

He posted on Twitter:

Shoprite has reduced the prices of hundreds of its items across Zambia due to the increasing strength of the Zambian Kwacha against the US dollar. Next we are waiting for Multi Choice & DSTV to drop prices too. Our party is leading our people into a future of untold prosperity !!

Be Patient With Us, Bamusi Pleads With Caps United Fans

CAPS United captain Phineas Bamusi has urged fans of the Green Machine to continue supporting the team in the difficult period they are in, saying it’s a phase which will hopefully pass.

Makepekepe have for the last two years been plunged into a well-documented financial crisis which has resulted in football stakeholders urging club president Farai Jere to sell it.

Lloyd Chitembwe’s charges downed tools in consecutive weeks citing outstanding salaries.

Despite the setbacks, Bamusi implored the CAPS fans to stand by the team.

“I just want to urge the fans to continue supporting the team, hopefully this phase won’t last forever and we are going to get back to the good old days,” the diminutive winger told Soccer24.

Despite the problems in the green half of the capital, CAPS fought hard despite losing to Highlanders at Babourfields before coming back from behind to force a stalemate with Herentals last week and Bamusi attributed that fighting spirit to the honor of donning the iconic green shirt.

“It always hurts to loose matches and wearing that green jersey is an extra motivation,” said Bamusi.

“Also the team has big names in our local football, so basically the other thing is to protect our names despite the hardships we are in,” added the speedy winger.

The Green Machine host Tenax at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday and Bamusi said that game is a must-win.

“We are going all out for a win. We know we are supposed to be in a better position..we want to collect the three points and see how far we can go,” he said.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Hygiene Tips For Everyone

ZINARA To Pounce On Unlicensed Vehicles

The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) is owed millions of dollars by over 100 000 motorists who are in road license arrears, Zinara Public Relations and Marketing Manager Tendai Mugabe has said.

Mugabe said this during an exclusive interview with The Mirror at the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show (ZAS) in Harare today.

However, Zinara is conducting a promotion at the Agricultural Show and all its stations countrywide where motorists in default are allowed to pay the arrears without paying penalties.

The promotions started on Monday and they are ending tomorrow, Saturday 3 September, 2022.

Mugabe warned motorists that all vehicles with arrears will not be allowed to pass through tollgates after the expiry of the promotion.

He urged motorists to take advantage of the promotion to regularise their vehicle licenses. – Masvingo Mirror

High Court To Decide On Chivhu Pastor’s Challenge Against Court Fees

By A Correspondent| High Court Judges Justice Owen Tagu and Justice Rogers Manyangadze will on 6 September 2022 hear and make a determination on an application filed by a Zimbabwean clergyman Pastor Abinel Mukaro, who is challenging the exorbitant levying of court user fees, which has the effect of impeding him from accessing justice.

On 8 February 2022, the Chivhu-based Pastor Mukaro dragged Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi and Attorney-General Advocate Prince Machaya to the High Court seeking an order to set aside and declare as unconstitutional the requirement to pay a 1% commission to the Registrar of the High Court.

Pastor Mukaro had the misfortune of being advised that he should pay the Registrar of the High Court 1% of US$73 500, which is the amount that he was claiming and which amounted to US$7 350 for service of summons in which he in October 2021 sued Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe, Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Detective Steven Dondo for causing the death of his wife Sharai Mukaro. Sharai died in September 2021 from injuries sustained as a result of the severe assault and torture inflicted upon her by Dondo and other ZRP officers in a “Darkroom” at Chivhu Police Station, where she was detained after being accused of stealing US$1 000.

In the application, Pastor Mukaro, who is represented by Sarudzayi Njerere of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), argued that requiring him to pay 1% of the total amount that he is claiming in a legal action resulting from the death of her wife infringes and deprives him of his right to equal benefit of the law.

The clergyman argued that allowing the Registrar of the High Court to charge a commission on a claim, has the effect of shutting out poor litigants out of court and it makes justice a commodity that can only be accessed by those with deep pockets.

Pastor Mukaro wants the High Court to declare Item 2 of the High Court (Fees) (Civil Cases) Regulations, 1992 published in the High Court (Fees) (Civil Cases) (Amendment) Rules, 2020 (No.11) Statutory Instrument 221 of 2020 as unconstitutional as it infringes his right to equal benefit from the law as guaranteed in section 56(1) of the Constitution as well as his right of access to the courts as provided in section 69(3) of the Constitution.

Already, Chivhu Magistrate Henry Sande has faulted some ZRP officers and ruled that foul play could have been committed which led to the death of Sharai.

This came after Magistrate Sande presided over an inquest to establish the cause of death of Sharai, which was only instituted after the Mukaro family lawyer Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of ZLHR, initiated legal proceedings.

Magistrate Sande ruled that there is a likelihood that the late Sharai was assaulted by some police officers based at the Criminal Investigations Department at ZRP Chivhu Police Station.

Drogba To Visit Zimbabwe

Ivory Coast football legend Didier Drogba has followed up on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s tweet after their meeting in Rwanda by confirming that he will be visiting Zimbabwe.

Social media was awash with pictures of Mnangagwa and Drogba with Zimbabweans expressing mixed feelings.

Political commentator Jealousy Mawarire has mocked Mnangagwa saying the Zimbabwe leader is obsessed with having photos with successful people.

“Madiro anoita vaMnangagwa kutogwa mapikicha nevanhu kunotaridza kuti ivo munhu nje asinawo chaakaita muupenyu arikutsvaga mbiri nekuzvikwanisa-kwanisa pese pese. I haven’t seen any president, anywhere akafumuka sababa ava,” said Mawarire.

Muskwe Scores On His Debut

Zimbabwean forward, Admiral Muskwe has scored on his first appearance for Fleetwood in the League One encounter against Wycombe Wanderers.

Muskwe who joined the Cods on a season-long loan deal from Luton Town on Thursday, struck home in the 67th minute after he picked a deflected ball and sent it in. The effort cancelled out Wanderers’ first half lead secured through Anis Mehmeti.

The 24-year-old started in the game and played the full 90 minutes.

Former G40 Leaders Remember Mugabe

Former Zanu PF leaders who were expelled following the November 2017 military coup have remember the late founding President Robert Mugabe who died on 6 September 2019 at a hospital in Singapore.

Saviour Kasukuwere who was the party National Commissar said he will not betray the people of Zimbabwe by moving away from the teachings and directions he learnt from Mugabe.

Savior Kasukuwere: We remember the founding father, liberator, educationist and leader, President Mugabe. Today, 3 years ago you were promoted to glory. The teachings and direction you gave us remain unmatched. We will not betray you and indeed our great people of Zimbabwe. The marathon continues.

Jealousy Mawarire had this to say: On this day,the 6th of September, three years ago, President Mugabe left us. Byo Car Thief Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A 23 year old man from Entumbane in Bulawayo suspected to be part of a duo that had gained notoriety for stealing from motor vehicles, especially those driven by women has been arrested.

Police have since recovered a number of valuables such as laptops, handbags, headphones, iPads, and cellphones at the suspect’s place of residence following the arrest.

The suspect, Panashe Chabikwa (23), has allegedly been terrorising motorists in the city centre and in the western suburbs where he would forcibly open locked cars and steal while in some cases reaching out for handbags and other valuables in cars while his partner, who is still on the run, distracts the drivers by talking to them.

The duo was using a black Honda Fit as their getaway car.

Zim Man Tortured By Botswana Police

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean man, Prosper Mabureki, is claiming unlawful detention and harassment at the hands of Botswana police over a crime that he did not commit.

Mabureki told the media that he was repeatedly tortured while his phone was confiscated during his 48-hour detention on July 18 and 19, 2022.

His crime was being a friend to one of the gang members arrested by Botswana police on armed robbery allegations.

“I am guilty by association,” Mabureki said, who has all the legal paperwork needed to live in Botswana.

Mabureki’s troubles came after the arrest of four Zimbabwean nationals on July 17, 2022 in Tatisiding.

Police in Botswana had arrested the quartet, Donald Casper Sibanda (38), Leaviet Ian Ndlovu (32), Rodrick Mutaurwa and Michelle Monica Mangisi (21) following a raid at a house.

They found two unlicensed guns and live ammunition.

The three men were later be charged for a robbery that took place in Francistown on March 18, 2022.

Mabureki told the media that when police found his contacts on one of the suspects’ phones, they tracked him down to his house in Tatisiding.

“I wasn’t home. They found my wife, who gave them my number and eventually I reported to the police. When I arrived, they immediately handcuffed me because I had admitted knowing Rodrick.

“I could not deny knowing him because I do. I don’t necessarily subscribe to his life choices, but he’s my homeboy and family friend,” Mabureki said.

Relating his 48-hour ordeal inside the cell, Mabureki said the police accused him of having played a part in the crimes committed by the quartet.

Francistown Central Police Station commander, Lebalang Maniki told the media that he was not aware of the matter.

Johanne Masowe Canvassing Support For Mnangagwa

Johanne Masowe Wechishanu WeAfrica International Church leader Andby Makururu is moving around the country encouraging his members to vote for the ruling Zanu-PF party in elections expected next year.

Makururu, who recently met President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House, is currently in Penhalonga, Mutasa South constituency in Manicaland province hosting a four-day church gathering.

Mnangagwa was set to visit the constituency on a thank you mission last week after the party’s candidate Misheck Mugadza won in the March 26 by-elections.

The visit was, however, postponed yesterday as he is hosting Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who officially opened the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show in Harare on Friday.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, Makururu said he was moving around the country urging his church members to register and vote for the ruling party.

“I am moving around urging my church members to register to vote ahead of next year’s elections. I think everyone is very aware that I have since pledged to my President Emmerson Mnangagwa that my church members are going to vote for him.

“Currently, I am having a church gathering in Penhalonga, Mutasa South constituency, where I am preaching the word of God,” he said.

The church leader predicted Mugadza’s win during his church’s 37th anniversary celebrations held at Mutare Show Grounds this year.

The anniversary coincided with Makururu’s birthday celebrations.

Mugadza, who attended the anniversary clad in a white garment, was ordered by Makururu to walk to the centre of Mutare Show Grounds and everyone was commandeered to point at him.

He defeated Citizens Coalition for Change’s Regai Tsunga.

Mnangagwa Shields Zanu PF Thieves

By James Gwati- The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed that they are people using President Emerson Mnangagwa and his wife Auxilia to commit crimes.

The use of Mnangagwa’s name can only be done by Zanu PF officials, not ordinary people, and ZRP failing to name these individuals says a lot.

Queen To Anoint New UK Prime Minister

By- Liz Truss was yesterday crowned victor of the Conservative leadership contest and the country’s next prime minister.

Today, Boris Johnson and the new leader of the Conservative Party will travel to Balmoral to meet the Queen for the official handover.

The Queen will officially appoint the next prime minister shortly after seeing Mr Johnson.

Usually, a new prime minister is invited to Buckingham Palace to be appointed by the Queen, but in a break from tradition this year, Her Majesty is staying in Scotland.

The new prime minister will then travel back from Balmoral to London before making their first speech in Downing Street as PM.

It is thought that Mr Johnson could make a farewell speech outside Number 10 on Tuesday morning before travelling up to Balmoral to see the Queen.

From Tuesday afternoon into the evening, it is expected that the new leader will begin to appoint their top government team.

This will include roles such as foreign secretary, chancellor, home secretary and business secretary.

The new prime minister is also likely to receive phone calls from other world leaders congratulating them on their appointment.

They may also make their first calls to their foreign counterparts. Ms Truss has said her first correspondence would be with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is thought that the new prime minister could hold their first cabinet meeting having appointed their top team.

The main topic of conversation is likely to be the ongoing cost of living crisis, with the next leader of the country under growing pressure to intervene to ease the burden of spiralling energy costs as quickly as possible.

At midday, the new prime minister will take part in their first session of Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons – coming face-to-face with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

Boris Johnson could watch on from the Conservative backbenches along with his predecessor Theresa May.

During the remainder of Wednesday afternoon, it is expected that the new prime minister will continue to make ministerial appointments until all roles within the government departments are filled.

It is also likely that the PM will have more phone calls with their foreign counterparts.-SkyNews/The Herald

700 Children Die Of Measles

By- Health experts are calling for mandatory Measles Vaccination to save children’s lives as the death toll nears 700, with almost 100 cases recorded daily.

The government has been urged to intervene and ensure every child is vaccinated, especially among the apostolic sects where a high number of children are not vaccinated.

Dr Johannes Marisa, Public health expert, told the state media:

We have noted with concern that the number of Measles cases skyrocketing. The outbreak is coming from a number of factors, the first one is coming from unvaccinated children. Zimbabwe used to have a 90% vaccination coverage, but there are a lot of challenges we are facing at the moment. The first one being that there are some religious sects especially apostolic sects who are shunning the vaccination drive, who are against all sorts of vaccination taking place so this is putting everyone at risk. We would like to urge everyone to take their children for vaccination against Measles. Can all religious sects follow what is supposed to be done. For public health measures to be fully functional and operational sometimes we may need even legislation, a piece of legislation to force everyone to do the right thing Vaccination should be mandatory for everyone.

Dr Amos Marume, Harare Institute of Public Health Principal, told ZBC Newsechoed Marisa’s remarks adding that the vaccine is the only prevention children need.

Of the 6 291 cases reported nationwide, 3 009 are coming from Manicaland, accounting for almost 50 per cent of the cases and deaths.

Out of those cases from Manicaland, only 523 are vaccinated against Measles, with 347 children from the province dying at home before seeking medical attention.

Mnangagwa Can’t Win Without Killing Citizens

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

Against All Odds: CCC VICTORY IN BULILIMA

The Citizens’ movement as led by President Chamisa walloped zanu pf in Bulilima yesterday.

We thank the Citizens for this great show of support and empathic endorsement for the Democratic Alternative (CCC).

We won against all odds!
We went into the by-election with our hands tied on our back but we gave a fight.

The environment was not fair and neither was the process free. Zanu violated the Electoral Act with impunity while the electoral referee ZEC just watched in silence. However, in the 2 wards we won, the citizens said enough is enough!

We saw the deployment of violence, abuse of traditional leaders, assisted voters scandal but we still won!

It is clear to all that zanu pf cannot win any election without resorting to violence, abusing the assisted voters’ provision in the electoral law, vote buying, intimidation & using traditional leaders as its commissars and weapons of instilling fear in peace loving citizens.

We can’t congratulate fraud, forgery and corruption. ZEC must be independent, impartial and a fair referee.

We won not because the conditions are favorable but because we overwhelmed the unfair conditions through massive Citizens participation.

The people of Bulilima have taught us that it is possible to defeat zanu pf by remaining resolute and unshakable in tje face of a thuggish regime that abuse the law with impunity.

That despite heavy weaponization of food aid, in rural areas, this dictatorship can be defeated if proper community based mobilisation & people centered candidates are at the center of the strategy mix.

Bulilima debunked the fallacy and myth that rural areas belong to zanu. No they belong to the people who from Zambezi-Limpopo, Nyamapanda-Manica are all yearning for transformative change that is epitomised the CCC.

Zanu pf “wins” in the countryside because they resort to violence, harvest of fear and electoral malpractices to secure a vote. This can be defeated as the people of Bulilima have shown us.

This to us is a confirmation that, no force can stop an idea whose time have come. The idea of transformative change is unstoppable. Change that is dynamic. Change that is inclusive. Change that is organic.

Thank you Bulilima. We promise that your councilors will lead diligently and courageously.

For and on behalf of the Citizens Movement

Comrade Ostallos.

Kenya’s Supreme Court Throws Baba Under The Bus

By James Gwati- The Supreme Court in Kenya has dismissed a petition by Kenya’s former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, challenging William Ruto’s election in the August 9th presidential election.

In a statement, Odinga, in response to the judgment, the former PM said he vehemently disagreed with the court’s opinion.

Reads the statement:

We have taken note of the decision of the Supreme Court on the Presidential election held on August 9th, 2022. We have always stood for the rule of law and the constitution. In this regard, we respect the opinion of the court although we vehemently disagree with their decision today.

Our lawyers proffered irrefutable evidence and the facts were on our side, unfortunately, the judges saw it otherwise. We find it incredible that the judges found against us on all nine (9) grounds and occasion resulted to unduly exaggerated language to refute our claims.

This judgement is by no means the end of our movement, in fact it inspires us to redouble our efforts to transform this country into a prosperous democracy where each and every Kenyan can find their full belonging. We thank our supporters and Kenyans across the country for standing with us. We will be communicating in the near future on our plans to continue our struggle for transparency, accountability and democracy.

God bless you and God bless Kenya!

More than 2 million Zimbabweans are in South Africa because of the economic and political situation in our country.

They’re treated like second class citizens.

The solution is resolving the governance crisis in our own country by voting the Mnangagwa regime out!

McCarthy Revives Red Devils

Football fans have taken to social media to shower Benni McCarthy with praise, saying the South African coach has played a big role in the resurgence of Manchester United.

The former Bafana Bafana star was a surprise inclusion in Erik Ten Hag’s backroom staff when the Dutchman took over at Old Trafford.

McCarthy is the strikers coach at United, who have now won four games on the trot after a shaky start to the season.

Fans took to microblogging site Twitter last night after the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over early pacesetters Arsenal and heaped praise on McCarthy for his ‘decisive role’ in the resurgence.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Kadewere Adjusts To Life At Real Mallorca

Admiral Muskwe scored on his first appearance for Fleetwood in the League One encounter against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean forward, who joined the Cods on a season-long loan deal from Luton Town on Thursday, struck home in the 67th minute after he picked a deflected ball and sent it in. The effort cancelled out Wanderers’ first half lead secured through Anis Mehmeti.

The 24-year-old started in the game and played the full ninety minutes.

He was booked for a crude challenge on an opponent.

Still in the League One, Brandon Galloway made his forth successive start in Plymouth Argyle’s come-from-behind 3-2 win over Derby.

Galloway featured as a centre-back in a 3-4-2-1 formation and made an error that led to Derby’s first goal.

He was subbed after the 75th minute as the coach made tactical changes.

Wigan Athletic’s Tendayi Darikwa didn’t play due to a shoulder injury, while Marvelous Nakamba missed another Aston Villa game.

Nakamba has not featured for the Claret and Blue this season.

He made Steven Gerrard’s match day squad only twice this season.

The midfielder is said to have held talks with the former England international over lack of game time.

Fellow countryman in the English top flight, Jordan Zemura made another successive start and played a blinder in the first half as Bournemouth beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.

Zemura was surprisingly subbed off on the half-time as the coach made changes to the team.

Marshall Munetsi featured for full ninety minutes in Stade de Reims’ 1-1 draw against Lens in the French Ligue 1.

Teenage Hadebe returned from injury after three weeks, coming on as a second half substitute in Houston Dynamo’s 2-1 loss at Seattle Sounders in the American MLS.

Tinotenda Kadewere’s La Liga debut was delayed after the player was not included in Real Mallorca’s matchday squad for the Matchday 4 encounter against Girona.

The Warriors striker made history last week by becoming the first Zimbabwean player to join a Spanish top-flight club after moving to Real Mallorca on a season-long loan deal from French side Lyon.

Kadewere trained with his new team for the first time on Wednesday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

DeMbare Edge Harare City

Dynamos returned to winning ways following their 2-1 victory over Harare City in Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 26 on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys had dropped points in the previous round after drawing against ZPC Kariba.

Ralph Kawondera opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minute, pouncing on a rebound off Godknows Murwira’s free kick.

City leveled the terms courtesy of Donald Mudadi’s effort on the 27th minute.

However, Dembare restored their lead towards the end of the first half through Emmanuel Paga.

The result put Dynamos on 49 points, six behind table toppers FC Platinum.

Harare City, on the other hand, remained in the relegation zone in 16th place with twenty-three points.

Elsewhere, Perfect Chikwende’s solitary strike helped Bulawayo Chiefs to a 1-0 victory over Black Rhinos.

Chitembwe Unhappy With Herentals Draw

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe expressed disappointment after his side failed to collect maximum points against Herentals on Saturday.

The Green Machine had to come from behind and settle for a 1-1 draw.

The Harare giants conceded on minute 32 through Tafadzwa Jim’s header after a slow start to the half.

An improved second half performance saw them dominating the pace but failed to secure a breakthrough until the 83rd minute courtesy of Clive Rupiya’s effort.

CAPS also got a penalty just moments before the goal after Godfrey Mukambi brought down William Manondo inside the box but Devon Chafa was denied by the keeper.

Reflecting on the outcome, Chitembwe believed his charges should have responded with zeal, having missed a few days of training due to a player strike.

The gaffer said: “The response could have been better considering that we missed three days of training.

“It is a case of three missed points, and we had better opportunities than them. That penalty miss could have changed the game.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Citizens’ Struggle Unstoppable – President Chamisa

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa says the citizens’ struggle is unstoppable.

In a statement posted on Twitter at the weekend, President Chamisa said Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF cannot stop the wave of change.

Said President Chamisa:
“It’s a Citizens’ struggle, a Citizens’ project, a Citizens’ fight.

The Citizens shall govern… Nomakanjani!#Fakapressure #RegisterToVoteZW.”

CCC also commended thousands of Bulilima residents who supported the people’s struggle during the weekend by-elections.

“APPRECIATION post for the brave citizens of Bulilima who defies the odds in the face of ZEC manipulation, Zanu PF violence, intimidation, banning of gatherings, victimization for supporting change & general political tension.

No wonder @ZANUPF_Official is mad! #FakaPressure.”

Basic Hygiene Tips
