Sikhala Predicts Zanu PF Demise

Tinashe Sambiri|Hard-hitting Citizens’ Coalition For Change deputy chairperson Hon Job Sikhala has declared that Zanu PF will no longer be existing in 10 years.

The tough-talking politician believes the former revolutionary party does not have what it takes to revive the economy.

“Please get this prophecy from me correctly and please mark it for reference if it turns out not to be.

Like its oppressive predecessor, the Rhodesian Front of Ian Smith, ZANU PF will not be in existence in the coming 10 years.

Please mark this prophecy,” Hon Sikhala wrote on Twitter.

President Chamisa Hails Legends Of Liberation Struggle

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens Coalition For Change leader President Nelson Chamisa has paid tribute to veterans of the liberation struggle in Africa.

President Chamisa challenged Africans to maintain the legacy of departed nationalists.

“The legacy of Our founding fathers and the liberation generation in Africa is at risk without the effort of Africa’s young and new generation of leaders.

Africa will be saved by two things; leadership and entrepreneurship.

Happy Africa day great continent! Mayibuye iAfrica,” President Chamisa said in a statement.

On the crisis in the country, President Chamisa said:

“Missed opportunities and neglected advantages is the cost of bad leadership. We must fix it! A New Great Zimbabwe is loading.”

CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba also said:

“Blessed Tuesday!!
Our task is to build a modern political party whose objective is to attain political power, govern differently and transform the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans. Together.”

The Status of the Ndebele Genocide/Crimes Against Humanity In The Republic Of Zimbabwe

Between the period 1983 to 1987, the Zanu PF government of The Republic of Zimbabwe unleashed the 5th Brigade Regiment upon the Ndebele Nation of central and Southern Zimbabwe.

These events set into motion a chain of events ;–

• 40,000 Unarmed Ndebele people killed, men, women, children, the unborn.

• 100,000 Ndebele Women and girls raped • 330 000 Ndebele people injured and maimed

• 1,000,000 Ndebele people displaced A Nation visited by the most heinous of all crimes known unto mankind.

All Nations on earth have identified, that such crimes are the worst crimes known to mankind. And for that reason, there are ways of handling and addressing such crimes.

The international arena has already classified this as a Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

The Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “ moment of madness “.

On other occasions the Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “ disturbances “ On other occasions the Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “An issue “.

Indeed the Zanu PF government finds itself in difficulty over the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. That is why it has failed to properly address the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

It has been preoccupied at very, very great length and cost, in trying to go around the crime and circumvent the actual crime itself.

It has been looking for a way of how to legalise murder. It has been looking for a way of how to, legalise a genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. A futile and impossible endeavour, if there ever was one.

In 1987 it was the “ Unity Accord “, that silenced the guns of genocide and Crimes Against Humanity.

Just one piece of A4 paper , with the signatures of R G Mugabe and J. Nkomo supporting this one page. This one page signified that Zanu and ZAPU, would become one political party under the name Zanu Patriotic Front. ZAPU was assured positions always in the government.

The “ Unity Accord “ was broken by Zanu. Zanu kept the name Zanu PF and removed ZAPU from positions within the government of the day.

The current President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has refused to give ZAPU the Vic President position. An act that speaks volumes, that indeed “ The Unity Accord “ is dead.

That being the case, it therefore means that the Zanu PF government , does not recognise the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

This means that all that is said , by the Zanu PF government of 2022, with respect to the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, is just “ a smoke Screen “. The Zanu PF government, is not serious about the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

What gives this analysis even more credibility, is the fact that the Zanu PF government is the perpetrator of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

How then does one expect a perpetrator, to arrest one’s self , detain one’s self , trial one’s self, convict one’s self and ultimately imprison one’s self. That is not possible.

The way to deal with the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity is fairly straight forward, since genocides and Crimes Against Humanity, from across the world have been , dully prosecuted and resolved many times ;-

1. Investigate and gather the evidence. Zanu PF government has not done this in 40 years. However what the Zanu PF government is now seeking to do is to “ destroy “ evidence by allowing and indeed forcing, the exhumations of victims of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. These grave sites are “ Crime Scenes “.

They require pathologists and teams of qualified investigators, to carefully record everything that is found at that locality, so that ultimately a proper cause and time of death can be scientifically established. People should record anyone seen engaging, in this reckless destruction of evidence.

For a crime is being committed right there. Tampering and destroying evidence, in a crime scene is a crime. Prosecutions will follow in due course, for all who may be involved in these exhumations. Be it a herd boy in the bush or a government Minister. Prosecutions will follow.

2. Having obtained the evidence and facts, individuals are arrested / charged

3. The individuals are then prosecuted in court

4. If the individuals are found guilty they are sentenced and imprisoned.

5. AFTER this judicial process THEN we have the PEACE building and RECONCILIATION. For the courts have established the individuals that were guilty of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

6. Restitution then also follows as part of this process All the efforts of the government seek to leave out the whole “ Judicial process “. Which means that all of their efforts are null and void in this regard.

WITHOUT THE JUDICIAL PROCESS, THE CRIMINAL GETS AWAY WITH COMMITTING THE CRIME Of course the government might continue with its exhumations. It may give a number of individuals USD 5,000 here and there. Then it may proclaim that the Ndebele Genocide matter has been resolved.

That could not be further from the truth. The government would really not have started on this matter. Not one bit.

For the very first proper government that comes into office, will prosecute the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. People will be arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated. Proper Peace building will occur.

Proper reconciliation would occur . Proper restitution will occur. With respect to the recent comments made by The Speaker of The House , Mudenda .

This statement is a very profound statement to have been made at this juncture and in the manner that it was made. It is The Zanu PF Government for the first time, publicly, admitting that they will lose the elections in 2023.

For the Zanu PF government to combine the 2023 elections and the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, means that Zanu PF knows that this time around they are out of power.

Hence the need to prepare an exit road, that does not have thorns on it. The Ndebele Genocide is a very big thorn, that will stop many prominent individuals in Zanu PF.

Leading to their arrest, trial and incarceration for their natural lives. It is therefore logical for them to prepare a suitable exit route, without the issue of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity hanging over their heads.

Hence The Speakers words of haste, trying to hurry the process on wards. Whilst the threat of imprisonment is very serious on its own.

There is is an even more serious matter hidden by The Speakers words. Words that touch Zanu PF itself as a political organisation.

Once the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity Judicial process begins and guilty verdicts given for the Crimes of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, Zanu PF as a political party will become a Banned Organisation.

For Zanu PF as a political Organisation, would have been implicated throughout all of the proceedings of the trials. For this Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity did not spontaneously occur.

There were no sightings of civilians chasing each other on the streets of the country. Neighbour against neighbour . This was organised and structured.

Evidence is there that Zanu PF effected this Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity on its own, using “ the instruments, ways and means “ of the government to effect these crimes.

Thus incriminating itself with the responsibility of this crime . To make matters worse for Zanu PF, the events after the Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, further incriminate Zanu PF to these crimes.

For 40 years Zanu PF has frustrated the judicial process, of dealing with this Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

We have now arrived at the juncture, that Zanu PF is now advocating for the destruction of evidence of the crime of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, by the illegal exhumation of bodies.

As a result of the Judicial Process of addressing the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, it is certain that Zanu PF, as a political organisation, or any other formation it may become, will be banned in The Republic of Zimbabwe.

Hence the importance of the 2023 Zimbabwe Elections and why they have been linked to the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

We are most concerned that members of the governmemnt from these affected provinces, are still “ willing “ to be used on a tribal basis, to speak terrible things about this open wound, that is the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

Why did the Minister with portfolio responsibility enounciate this matter.

Why the deliberate selection of a Ndebele member of parliament to speak and deliver this message to the Ndebele Nation.

Never before in the history of this country has so much hung upon an election. The need to REGISTER and VOTE has never been greater.

Zanu PF Torments Villagers

Tinashe Sambiri|Kraal heads in Gutu District have banned yellow regalia in their respective areas.

This follows instructions from the District Administrator and Zanu PF officials to ban CCC regalia and activities.

2023 Time To Fix Bad Leadership In Country- President Chamisa

High Court Shames Police Over Covid-19 Vaccination Ban

By A Correspondent- The Bulawayo High Court has ruled that it is illegal for the police to stop COVID-19 unvaccinated people from accessing services at public building.

Bulawayo lawyer Job Sibanda had challenged police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga’s directive barring COVID-19 unvaccinated citizens from accessing police facilities.

Sibanda had taken Matanga and Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe to court after police officers blocked him from entering CID headquarters in Harare because he had no COVID-19 vaccination card.

“The commissioner of police consented to the order I was seeking. This means the barring of people from accessing CID offices was and continues to be illegal,” Sibanda told NewsDay yesterday.

Sibanda filed his application at the Bulawayo High Court in February citing Matanga and Kazembe as first and second respondents, respectively.

In his founding affidavit, Sibanda said the court should declare null and void the directive against unvaccinated citizens.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no law in Zimbabwe that permits a government official to bar members of the public from gaining access to any building in order to get services…” Sibanda submitted.

“Vaccination is voluntary and I am entitled to refuse to be vaccinated, an option I have freely chosen for better or worse.  It is unlawful to discriminate against me and bar me from entering a public building on the basis that I am not vaccinated against COVID-19.”

Zanu PF Eyes Byo Seats Comeback

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF’s Bulawayo Greens district political commissar Elias Mweneziko said the party was set to regain all the seats it lost to the opposition in 2018.

Bulawayo has been an opposition stronghold since the turn of the century in 2000 and during the 2018 general elections, the ruling party only managed to win one ward (ward 28) after the opposition blundered by fielding double candidates.

Raji Modi is the only ruling party Member of Parliament (Bulawayo South), while Kidwell Mujuru is the only Zanu-PF councillor for ward 28.

Mweneziko told Southern Eye that as the country prepares for the 2023 plebiscite, the ruling party had set up strong structures and hoped to ride on the possibility of the revival of Bulawayo’s defunct companies that would create more than 1 500 jobs.

‘’Bulawayo has never been a stronghold for Zanu-PF, and we know that it is dominated by the opposition. However, this will change in next year’s elections as we aim to garner five million votes. We will be putting in place structures and projects that are going to help to turn things upside down,” Mweneziko said.

He said the ruling party was targeting to resuscitate the National Railways of Zimbabwe, Cold Storage Company and others to create 1 500 jobs for Bulawayo residents.

“We are also incentivising small businesses by delivering chickens, and are mobilising voters through door-to-door campaigns,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Zanu-PF-aligned Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) is preparing for a congress amid reports that members are already jostling for positions.

This follows the vetting of 160 000 non-combatant war veterans.

Bulawayo ZNLWVA chairperson Cephas Ncube told Southern Eye that the war veterans held their executive council meeting at their offices on Saturday, and resolved to hold an elective national congress soon.-newsday

July Moyo’s Pomona Garbage Deal Condemned By Harare Residents.

A US$344 million waste-to-energy contract awarded to a company linked to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s family was “shamefully imposed” on Harare, the Harare Residents Association and Transparency International Zimbabwe said on Tuesday.

The contract, rushed through after Harare mayor Jacob Mafume was suspended by local government minister July Moyo and several opposition councillors recalled, has been challenged in court. The 30-year contract for the Pomona waste dumpsite was awarded to Geogenix BV, a company registered in the Netherlands, without public consultations or public tendering.

The High Court has been told that “the contract was designed to fail” as it imposes obligations on the City of Harare to deliver set quantities of waste, and if it fails the contract can be cancelled and the city forced to pay US$3.5 million for breach.

Under the banner of the Harare Metropolitan Residents Forum, the Harare Residents Association and TIZ argued that the memorandum of agreement between City of Harare and Geogenix BV reeked of bad faith and was intended to benefit politically-connected elites.

Geogenix BV is fronted by Delish Nguwaya, a business partner of President Mnangagwa’s twin sons Collins and Sean. Reports say Sean and Nguwaya travelled to Albania to negotiate the contract with Geogenix BV’s beneficial owner, Mirel Mërtiri, who faces corruption allegations in his own country involving an incinerator contract.

The scandal has been dubbed “Wastegate” by the media.

“We, the representatives of the Residents Associations and Civil Society Organisations advocating for good local governance, transparency, accountability, climate and debt justice condemn and reject the imposed shameful Pomona waste to energy project on the residents and ratepayers of Harare, and the metropolitan at large,” the residents and TIZ said in a statement.

“In our view, the contents of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the City of Harare and Geogenix for the US$344 million Pomona Waste to Energy Project is a pure scandal, and a burden to the city meant to serve the best interests of the politically connected elites at the expense of the residents of Harare.

“We reiterate that this scandal is a well-crafted and cunning plan designed to siphon resources and strip assets from the already cash-strapped and financially distressed local authority.”

The forum’s spokesperson Marvelous Kumalo said “while we welcome innovation aimed at solving our waste management challenges, this must follow due processes and be premised on tenets of good governance which are citizen participation, transparency, and accountability.”

Harare, which previously dumped its waste for free, must now pay Geogenix BV to receive it after the city signed over its Pomona dumpsite to the company. The city will pay Geogenix BV US$40 per tonne delivered.

The stipulated daily delivery is at least 550 tonnes or a minimum 200,750 tonnes per year – translating to US$8.03 million for Geogenix BV in the first year.

The agreement says should Harare fail to meet the minimum quantities, the city will still be invoiced as though it made the deliveries to meet the minimum annual guaranteed waste quantity.

Harare North MP Allan Norman Markham is leading a legal effort to have the contract cancelled.

Chinotimba Having Sleepless Nights Over Ouster

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Buhera South, Joseph Chinotimba is having sleepless nights over a plot by the party’s youths to unseat him.

Chinotimba is not the only one being challenged.

Chinotimba’s neighbours, William Mutomba (Buhera North) and Saul Nzuma (Buhera West) will also face strong challenge in the Zanu-PF 2023 primary elections.

Buhera has seen the emergence of a young crop of politicians across all the three constituencies targeting parliamentary seats held by the party’s old guard.

“This has unsettled the old guard, hence the emotional attacks,” said a provincial member who refused to be named.

Chinotimba was the first to be hauled over the coals by the party’s youth following a video of him accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa of sponsoring a young candidate Ngonidzashe Mudekunye to take over his constituency.

On Monday, Chinotimba reportedly lost his temper at the ruling party’s Manicaland provincial co-ordination committee meeting in Mutare and took aim at some ruling party bigwigs, accusing them of plotting his ouster.

Chinotimba has been linked to the G40 cabal after former Information minister Jonathan Moyo took to Twitter, saying Mnangagwa wanted to impose Mudekunye in Buhera South.

In 2018, there was a push for Chinotimba’s removal by G40 members now in self-imposed exile.

“Chinotimba was fuming at the Manicaland PCC meeting in Mutare, saying he was aware of party bigwigs who were plotting against him,” one source claimed.

“He told the gathering that people should channel resources to Dangamvura/Chikanga constituency where Esau Mpufumi lost in the (March 26) by-elections and Makoni Central where Patrick Chinamasa lost in the 2018 elections,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Mutomba is reportedly facing a challenge from Phillip Guyo who transferred to Manicaland province from Harare.

Guyo lost to the opposition in Chitungwiza in the 2018 elections before transferring to Manicaland.

Mutomba, who is being accused of being an absentee MP, has been Buhera North legislator for more than a decade.

In Buhera West, incumbent legislator Nzuma is also having sleepless nights over Maxwell Chikwangwani who is eyeing the seat.

“This is where the confusion is coming from. The likes of Chinotimba never thought they would be challenged hence the panic. It is a pity that in his utterances, mentioning President Mnangagwa, he is doing nothing good, but fuelling factionalism,” another provincial member said.

In a letter dated May 16, addressed to the newly-appointed deputy secretary for youth affairs John Paradza, a Zanu-PF youth-affiliated group Zimbabwe Revolutionary and Patriotic Youth Network said Chinotimba should be summoned and clarify his rants.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa yesterday rubbished claims of factionalism, while defending Chinotimba saying he was a hard worker.

“Comrade Chinotimba is a hard worker and has a sound or solid relationship with the President. We are not worried about people who are against him,” he said.-newsday

Prioritize Children From Rural Areas, ARTUZ Africa Day Statement

The 25th of May across Africa is celebrated and commemorated for not only it’s historical significance through the decolonization of Africa but also for it’s present relevance to our contemporary world and also for the commendable visions that the African Continent holds for it’s future.

Fifty nine years ago, like-minded Africans with one vision, one goal and one purpose came together to organize the emancipation of Africa from colonial bondage and the sovereignty that Africa has today from foreign rule is a result of those sacrifices. The theme brought forward for this year is critical in the development of a child to a purely productive individual to society and that through strengthening resilience in nutrition and food security on the African continent, even with the current efforts of the AU as a bloc a lot of children remain malnourished. A number of factors keep on adding to malnourishment despite the verbal promises and half-hearted attempts to end malnutrition, factors such as unending conflict and natural disasters.

Furthermore, the Covid19 pandemic was also a major destabilizing factor in efforts done so far, by July 2020 almost one third of Africa was facing starvation and the major victims being children. In our Zimbabwean context it is going to be a herculean task to strengthen resilience owing to the prevailing environment that has been perpetuated by a soulless regime that is self-serving and not concerned by the welfare of its citizens. The environment in schools especially in rural and marginalized areas is extremely terrible, more than three quarters of learners in these communities come from poor families without the means to live in a healthy manner, these learners have it tough, they walk for long distances to school on an empty stomach, spend the whole day and go back home in their state. The government does not even bother to provide supplementary meals to these learners and when interested parties want to assist they are stopped on allegations of trying to effect regime change.

In the same vein food aid distribution in rural areas is heavily politicized with the ruling Zanu pf party refusing aid to the most vulnerable people accusing them of supporting the opposition, food meant for aid is also looted on a massive scale and later resold. This goes against the very revolutionary ethos that the African Union stands for and the concept of Ubuntu. ARTUZ also calls for the increase in salaries for workers as low salaries are also a major contributing factor of malnutrition in society as people are left desperate after being paid peanuts and are unable to maintain a healthy living.

ARTUZ calls for the immediate prioritization of children especially those in rural and marginalized areas to be assisted by the government in supplementing their diet and come up with policies that supports and aids the strengthening of resilience on nutrition and food security in the country and this is done by ceasing to politicize food aid and also improve the standards of living of the ordinary citizen through salary increments, as we celebrate this Africa Day it is fundamental to note that in our case only a few elites are free as they only have access to better standards and quality of living whilst the rest are suffering in silence, being African should be associated with Pride but there is no pride in hunger, starvation, poverty and avoidable death, FREE US NOW or WE WILL FREE OURSELVES FOR AFRICA.

Mwonzora Chickens Out Of Future By-elections

By A Correspondent- The opposition MDC Alliance, led by Douglas Mwonzora, has resolved not to contest any by-elections following humiliating defeats in recent by-elections, NewsDay has learnt.

The party said it would only contest the 2023 general elections and has not fielded a candidate for the Masvingo West ward 21 by-election set for June 25.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Zanu-PF councillor Tinago Mupinga on March 24.

MDC-A chairperson Morgan Komichi was yesterday evasive, and could not give the reason the party failed to field a candidate.

Komichi referred questions to the party’s secretary for elections Gandhi Mudzingwa whose number was not reachable.

During the March 26 and May 6 by-elections, Mwonzora’s party failed to get any council or parliamentary seat out of the contested 133. This was despite the MDC-A having caused the vacancies after it recalled more than 40 MPs and more than 80 councillors affiliated to Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.

The three candidates nominated for the June 25 by-elections are Zanu-PF’s Chenjerai Mumbire, CCC’s Onias Mawarire and Sister Nhando, an independent candidate.

In a statement yesterday Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana confirmed the by-election.

“It is hereby notified in terms of section 125(4) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13) that at the close of the sitting of the nomination court on Monday May 9, 2022, the candidates listed in the schedule were duly nominated for election as councillor in ward 21 of Masvingo RDC (rural district council). Accordingly, polling shall take place on Saturday June 25, 2022,” Silaigwana said.

Political analysts told NewsDay that Mwonzora’s party was avoiding further embarrassment.

Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said: “If they are going by empirical evidence of past performance, their instinct is that they are not fielding until they get their numbers correct. But that is the wrong strategy because if you don’t contest then you are exposing your weaknesses.”

Another political analyst Effie Ncube said: “They are obviously saving themselves from the obvious embarrassment that is going to come should they field a candidate. Their party is no match to the CCC, and people have moved to Chamisa. There is no question about that. The MDC Alliance has lost the show.”-newsday

Zanu PF MPs Share Growing Disdain

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF MPs have allegedly been sharing their growing disdain for the party with colleagues in opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), organising secretary Amos Chibaya has claimed.

Speaking at the CCC’s thank you rally in Gweru, following resounding by-election wins on March 26, Chibaya said ruling party legislators were part of the many who no longer wanted the ruling party to remain in power.

His claims follow a deteriorating economic climate that has not spared officials at the Zanu-PF headquarters.

“Zanu-PF MPs have been telling us that they are tired of their own party, they no longer want it. No one wants Zanu-PF anymore and this like I am telling you includes their own MPs, everyone is now fed up with Zanu-PF,” said Chibaya.

“Even members of the security sector are tired of Zanu-PF. They want the party out.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is under immense pressure to unite a party whose structures are questioning his capacity to contest against CCC leader Nelson Chamisa at the 2023 polls.

Such sentiments have been aired by members in rural areas, most of which have for long been Zanu-PF strongholds.

“Our biggest vote is going to come from the rural areas. Those people are tired of Zanu-PF,” declared Chibaya.

Mnangagwa’s situation has been worsened by a failure to deal with rampaging inflation, low wages, indecision on non-performing Cabinet ministers and what those at the party’s headquarters feel is a deliberate attempt to shut them out of governance.

Civil servants, who constitute a greater fraction of Zimbabwe’s employed population have been forced to make do with the local currency too despite their wages losing value on a daily basis.

Crisis Coalition Fires Salvo At State Media

Crisis Coalition not concerned by now-habitual state media propaganda

As of late, the state-controlled media has been publishing a predictable pattern of defamatory, propaganda articles that allege that civil society organizations (CSOs) under the banner of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition are seeking to destabilise and topple the government. Their running theme has been that we want to effect regime change in the country.

The latest of these unfounded allegations appeared in The Sunday Mail of 22 May 2022 under a malicious title: “NGOs plot to unsettle Zim exposed.” The proposal documents and account numbers of the Coalition published in The Sunday Mail, purporting to be a scoop, are in fact documents that the Coalition submitted to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority in compliance with the tax laws of the land.

We have taken note though not surprised that the regime can stoop so low as to use private information submitted in confidence to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority to score cheap propaganda points. So much about ‘open for business.’ This is shameful.

The malicious allegations contained in the state’s propaganda pieces are but a desperate attempt to find a scapegoat for the ZANU PF government’s inability to run the country and its economy.

The incumbent ZANU PF government is evidently in a panic mode as evidence of failure has increasingly become too apparent. These are clearly desperate attempts to scare and intimidate those calling out its failures. They now seem more determined to close any remaining democratic space.

For the record, the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition is an umbrella body drawing membership from across the Church, Labour, Women, Youths, Students, Farmers, War Veterans, the Informal Sector, Formal Business and Social Movements working broadly to see a democratic and economically developed Zimbabwe.

Again, for the record, we remain non-partisan but very political. The issues we collectively engage span the political, economic and social spheres – and the constitution of the republic provides for our varied mandates, hence our existence.

We are not and have never been agents of terror. In fact, much of what we see, experience and fight against in Zimbabwe, is the state-sponsored terror that dates back to the 1980s, when an estimated 20 000 civilians lost their lives; many others suffered rape, abductions, displacement, and torture under the ZANU PF government.

This pattern of rape, abductions, unwarranted arrests, detention and public malignment by ZANU PF propagandists has grown to be a familiar affair by a desperate regime. All those that challenge the excesses of the ruling ZANU PF party, including those within ZANU PF itself, suffer the same consequences.

We want to set the record straight and affirm that all our activities as a Coalition, those of our members and other civil society actors are legitimate and legal; the ZANU PF government often send their state security agents, especially from the Police Internal Security Intelligence, informers and serving agents of the Central Intelligence Organisation to attend civil society activities, and we always accommodate them. This is because we have nothing to hide.

It is evident that a small clique in the ZANU PF government wants to turn this country into a One Party State, in their mistaken belief of turning Zimbabwe into a mini communist Kingdom without elections.

This small clique, which is averse to history, has slowly derailed the country from the post-independence dream of a Zimbabwe which affords all its citizens a decent life, of equal opportunity and access to basic goods and services. This quest by the small clique in ZANU PF flies in the face of the popular values for which we fought during the protracted liberation war.

Father Zimbabwe, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo’s statement remains true, 42 years after independence, that “… the people of Zimbabwe live in fear, not of enemies, but their own government.”

We have taken note of these shameful efforts by the state-controlled media to fuel the persecution of human rights defenders through malicious and false allegations. This is clearly meant to scare human rights defenders from holding the small kleptocratic clique in ZANU PF to account. We will however not be deterred.

Our interests are legitimate as well as constitutional. Section 7 of the national constitution empowers and mandates us to educate Zimbabweans on their rights.

• To fight for workers’ rights is not regime change.
• To fight against corruption and state stripping is not regime change.
• To fight for women, youth, children, PWDs is not regime change
• To fight for decent and affordable education or health is not regime change.
• To fight for clean and portable water is not regime change.
• To fight for decent and safe transport system is not regime change.
• To fight for inclusive and consistent economic policy is not regime change.
• To fight for a non-partisan police force that ensures the human security of all citizens, regardless of their political party affiliation is not regime change.
• To fight against the mutilation of our constitution through unwarranted amendments by a self-serving clique wanting to retain political power for the sake of it, is not regime change.

Above all, to fight for the upholding of the constitution is not regime change.

To set the record straight, citizens have a right to participate in political processes as enshrined under Section 67 of the constitution. If anything, Section 67 of the constitution of the republic actually allows the citizens to change any regime or government in this country. According to this section, and as read with others, changing a regime or the government in this country is not illegal and is not a crime. That is the whole essence of going to elections.

The constitution of Zimbabwe therefore provides for regime change by allowing citizens to vote and choose a government of their choice. The small clique in ZANU PF must know this and know that the citizens are aware of this right and will therefore not hesitate to exercise it.

Again, citizens have a right to hold the government to account through peaceful protests as enshrined under Section 59 of the Zimbabwean constitution.

So the small clique in ZANU PF and their propagandists must know that these routine threats through malicious and false reporting will only strengthen our resolve, rather than cow us into submission. We have done no wrong and we will continue to pursue our work in defense of the constitutional rights we all ought to enjoy.

Defending these fundamental rights and freedoms is our small contribution towards keeping alive the value and virtues of the liberation struggle and our hard won independence.

In this regard, we remain FIRM and UNSHAKEN in our resolve to fight for a democratic, corruption free, economically developed Zimbabwe, where progress is inclusive and benefits all citizens.

We encourage President Mnangagwa and his government to abide by the tenets and spirit of our national constitution. The rule of law and constitutionalism must the common denominator in terms of how our country is governed. Zimbabwe is for all irrespective of political party, ethnicity, gender or race.

AFRICA DAY: The Continent Is Haemorrhaging

By Elvis Mugari| Africa today has become a theatre of horror and a personification of misery, destitution and anguish. The post independence era in Africa has borne witness to political brutality spearheaded by the one party state system; economic malaise exacerbated by populist policies, bigotry and mismanagement and the general escalating cost of living exasperated by pandemics, chronic diseases, dire poverty, wars and tribal conflicts.

Today, the 25th of May 2022, Africa is supposed to celebrate the birth of the continental motherboard African Union sadly there is literally nothing to be euphoric about as most countries in the bloc have degenerated into a sinkhole of deprivation. The continent is hemorrhaging.

Without beating about the bush, I would like to register my discontent with Zimbabwe, the country in which my umbilical cord is buried. Zimbabwe is under Millitary rule since 2017.Taking stock of what has become of our former Crown Jewel of Africa is a nauseating and disgusting experience. The country has slowly metamorphosed into Dambudzo Marechera’s House of Hunger or Joseph Conrad’s The Heart of Darkness. Desperation is rife and the leadership is numb and indolent to the situation.

I wouldn’t want to remind people of our perverse state of affairs but reality is that we are suffering because of the transgressions of our ‘fathers’. What is more pernicious is the striking fact that those responsible do not take heed of the voices of discern as they would want to continue profiteering and further plundering the economy beyond redemption. We are in a man-made quagmire fellow Africans.

As if that is not enough, Zimbabwe is a good standing member of the motherboard AU and the regional bloc SADC yet we have become the epicenter of all forms of deteriorations.

What is mind boggling is the fact that we’re endowed with everything that even the most developed countries do not have yet we are confronted by under development even if we have fully abrogated colonialism. Our (mis)leaders continue to use Dependency Theory as a smokescreen to cover up their infirmities and failures.
Development and an end to the shameful harrowing misery in Africa is a product of collective human efforts by Africans. Zimbabwe in particular needs a united people who are conscious of their plight. We need to be awaken to the reality that our pillagers are right within our country and right there in the stirrups of power.
May the good Lord help us to restore our pride .

Rise Africa Rise for the second and real independence.

Mwonzora Reveals Opposition Political History

By- MDC-T President Douglas Mwonzora has said that he was the most senior and experienced opposition politician.

Mwonzora said this on Twitter when he posted a newspaper article penned in late 1980 when he was a part of the Edgar Tekere led ZUM.

Tweeted Mwonzora:

The struggle for multi-party democracy in Zimbabwe was a tricky and risky affair. I was privileged to have been in the senior leadership of the Zimbabwe Unity Movement at the age of 22. The attempts to establish a one party state in Zimbabwe were thwarted.

Chamisa Aide Honours Murdered CCC Supporter

By-Settlement Chikwinya, the MP for Mbizo constituency, has dedicated his victory in the March 26 by-elections to Mboneni Ncube, a party supporter who was stabbed to death by Zanu PF members.

Violent Zanu PF youths descended on a CCC rally at Mbizo Shipping Centre, Mbizo, Kwekwe, a few weeks before the March 26 by-elections.

Ncube was among several CCC supporters who were stabbed during the attack as he fled from the marauding thugs.

The assailants were arrested but released under unclear circumstances by the police. Said Chikwinya:

Mbizo is the only constituency in the country where we gained victory through bloodshed because we lost one of our supporters, Mboneni Ncube, during the campaigns.

Zanu PF thinks by intimidating and killing people, people will be discouraged, but that’s not the case.

People are prepared for change and they are prepared for that change even if it means death by voting for the CCC.

Mwonzora Accused Of Plotting To Rig Congress

MWONZORA WANTS TO RIG ORDINARY CONGRESS. LET’S BLOCK HIM

National Council demanded RESHUFFLE of certain offices in the Standing Committee never to add more positions.

Many offices which were added in the Standing Committee are a RIGGING TEAM.
Why would a normal Leader create Extra position when we are going for Ordinary Congress in a month’s time.

This is pure rigging of the Ordinary Congress.

Mwonzora is seeking a False Mandate by bringing non delegates to the CONGRESS.
At the Extra Ordinary Congress he brought fake delegates that is why we had kids of 14 yrs at the Congress contrary to the legal position which wanted 2014 structures.

This Rigging tactic we used I can confirm I was part of Mwonzora team which rigged for him.

God has punished Mwonzora for rigging the Extra Ordinary Congress, the PUBLIC has totally rejected him.

Mwonzora should have learned that he can’t cheat God.

The By-elections Results were a clear voice from the Midzimu yeNyika and God.

Mwonzora can’t rig the the public.

Mwonzora should just resign and let someone take the party forward.

MDCt has the future under a new leader.

Under Mwonzora MDCt is totally dead.

People both internal and external of MDCT have rejected Mwonzora.

Majority of MDCT supporters no longer want Mwonzora as their Leader.

Mwonzora has totally failed both as leader and manager.

Come Ordinary Congress all MDCt supporters must vote for the New Leader

Mnangagwa In Plot To Eliminate Teachers’ Union Leaders

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has been blamed for attempting to assassinate teachers’ union leaders.

ARTUZ leaders and their legal advisors were involved in a horrendous accident in Gokwe on Monday.

CCC Namibia has accused Mr Mnangagwa’s administration of plotting to eliminate dissenting voices.

See CCC Namibia statement:
Artuz leaders and their legal team escape death through a whisker.

23 May 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia learns with heavy heart the unfortunate occurrence of a terrible car accident in Gokwe with Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe leadership and their legal team as victims this afternoon.

Present were the organic, eloquent, pragmatic and fearless President Obert Masaraure, Vp Christine Kanyumba, the resilient Godfrey Chanda and the terrorised, Gerald Tavengwa. These diligent teachers were in the company of their competent Lawyers, Liberty Chimwaradze and Tino Bhero.

The deadly accident transpired when the tormented teachers were rushing to attend a disciplinary hearing of the illegally charged Gerald Tavengwa who is stationed at Mafungautse High School. Accidents are accidents but ZanuPF should put their hands off our hardworking teachers. Gerald Tavengwa had his house stoned by ZANUPF thugocrats threatening to butcher him before he vacated his workplace. It sounds sadist to hear that after ZanuPF youths broke into his house, the Public Service proceeded to charge him for absenteeism after he formally requested for a transfer.

We condemn this attempt to stifle labour unionists’ voices against slave wages. It is the right of the suffering teachers to demand a living wage from the corrupt and insensitive government. Unleashing stinging ZanuPF youths on innocent teachers is not only satanic but also primitive and barbaric. As social democrats, we absolutely condemn the persecution of our educators in the motherland. Our message to Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe and their legal team is that accidents should not deter them from fighting against labour injustices. We wish you a speedy recovery so that you can soldier on defending labour rights in the education fraternity.

We are quite cognisant that Artuz membership and leadership together with their defence Advocates are being incarcerated for standing firm against suicidal policies in the education sector. The Union of the moment is consistently castigating unsalted peanuts, visibly and audibly demanding the restoration of pre-October 2018 salaries of US$540. We condemn in absolute terms the perpetuation of violence on educators. Gerald Tavengwa is innocent! ZanuPF must stay away from our schools.

In a nutshell, Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia salutes salutes the legal team which consists of Liberty Chimwaradze and Tino Bhero for standing defending fair labour practices. Thank you for fighting together with our downtrodden teachers who are being exploited for a pathetic remuneration amid State-sponsored violence. #SafeSchoolsCampaign

Pomona Dump Money

Anti-corruption watchdogs, civic groups and Harare residents yesterday described as scandalous and shameful the Pomona waste management deal awarded to Netherlands-based company Geogenix BV.
Geogenix BV (Pomona Waste Management) local frontman Delish Nguwaya’s relationship with President Emmerson Mnangagwa has also been under the microscope following revelations that the controversial businessman is part of the delegation in Davos, Switzerland.

The US$316 million contract seen by NewsDay will see Harare City Council surrendering the country’s biggest dumpsite to Geogenix BV, which changed its name from Integrated Energy BV in 2020 following a series of scandals in Albania.

According to the contract, which was awarded without going to tender, Harare City Council handed over the dumpsite free of charge. Harare City Council will pay at least US$22 000 per day to dump waste at Pomona dumpsite for the next 30 years.

In a Press statement yesterday, Harare Metropolitan Residents Forum, Transparency International Zimbabwe, Zimcodd and other civic organisations condemned the deal as scandalous and wantonly imposed on ratepayers.

“We would like to make it very clear that this scandal is a direct attack on the devolution of power provided for in Chapter 14 of the Constitution since the project was imposed by the central government on the City of Harare,” their statement read.

“This scandal is evident when the City of Harare is bound by the agreement to handover Pomona dumpsite to Georgenix for free for the period of 30 years and then is bound to pay US$22 000 per day to dump waste it has collected at its own cost for the next 30 years at the same dumpsite,” the statement added.

Minutes of the February 28 council meeting and the joint environmental management, finance and development and business committee meeting of February 23 show that Local Government minister July Moyo armtwisted Harare City to sign the deal.

“Obviously, Moyo knew that the March by-elections were going to usher in new councillors from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) who were going to oppose the scandalous deal. The government had to rush the agreement,” suspended Harare mayor Jacob Mafume said.

Harare Residents Forum spokesperson Marvelous Kumalo said: “In our view, the contents of the memorandum of agreement signed between the City of Harare and Geogenix for the US$300 million Pomona Waste to Energy Project is a pure scandal and a burden to the city meant to serve the best interests of the politically-connected elite at the expense of the residents of Harare.”

Harare North MP Allan Markham (CCC) has since taken Harare City Council and Geogenix BV to court over the Pomona Waste to Energy deal. Newsday

Zanu PF Does Not Own Country, Chinamasa Told

Tinashe Sambiri| Citizens’ Coalition For Change has dismissed Zanu PF official Patrick Chinamasa’s threats of war if the former revolutionary party loses the coming polls.

In a statement CCC Namibia described Chinamasa’s remarks as empty bravado.

Read full statement below:

Zimbabwe belongs to the citizens not ZANUPF, CCC Namibia fumes!

17 May 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia is quite disappointed by the disregard to the constitutional mandate of the Zimbabweans to choose their own leadership through elections.

On his Twitter Handle, Patrick Chinamasa made it clear that the Citizens Coalition For Change victory in 2023 elections will invite war and instability in the country.

It is quite perturbing that those who claim to have successfully fought for One-Man-One-Vote are the ones who are intimidating the unsuspecting masses in the motherland.

It is extremely pathetic to hear those who purport to epitomise the ‘New Dispensation’ after the repressive Mugabe uttering the same old intimidatory and authoritarian vocabulary used by the predecessor to silence the voice of dissent. As Namibia district, we encourage change champions in Zimbabwe and the entire globe to wake up, mobilise, recruit and radicalize for complete change in 2023.

It must be clear to the clueless Chinamasa that change agents will rise and register to vote in their astronomical numbers as we target 6 million voters for the change that delivers.

Moreover, citizens should not be deterred by the attempt to disregard the voice of the people in 2023.

The politically inept Chinamasa is trying invain to cause voter apathy ahead of the harmonised elections after realising the capacity of our pragmatic President Advocate Nelson Chamisa to resoundingly win the impending plebiscite.

This is the panic button that the desperate Harare regime has just pressed and it symbolises victory for the change champions. It is now clear that ZanuPF does not have political capital to vanguish the simmering desire for socio-economic transfiguration in the motherland.

Our revolutionary obligation is to have our a stable Zimbabwe in the hands of a government with the potential to put the economy on a sounder footing.

It must be categorically clear to Mr Patrick Chinamasa that Zimbabwe is already at war and instability loomed since the early 80s when Gukurahundi galloped more than 20 000 innocent citizens in Matebeland and Midlands Provinces.

In 2002, we lost many people who subscribed to the national democratic revolution and thousands were also killed in 2008 after Mugabe was humiliated by the late President Morgan Tsvangirai on 29 March which resulted in a run off on 27 June. What should be clear to Chinamasa and cronies is that in 2023, citizens will cultivate the varlour, mettle and nerve to defend the vote.

Furthermore, change champions should put into cognisance that ZanuPF has declared war already on the peace-loving citizens.

Ahead of 26 March by-elections, we witnessed our change champion Mboneni Ncube butchered in cold blood in Kwekwe by marauding ZanuPF youths wielding machetes, bows, arrows, spears and stones. May his dear soul rest in power. Prior to the state-sponsored death of Mboneni Ncube, social democrats also lost Nyasha Zhambe in Gutu who was killed for supporting the organic and eloquent leader, President Advocate Nelson during his interface rallies with traditional leaders. Change champions also witnessed politically motivated violence in Chitungwiza Zengeza Ward 7.

Our councillor, Lovemore Maiko was left half-dead ahead of the 7 June by-elections.

It was infuriating to see our prospective councillor with deadly head injuries incurred after ZanuPF thugocrats used bricks attacking his head. On election day, our agent was brutally assaulted at one of the polling stations in Zengeza.

Zimbabweans should pent up their outrage against ZanuPF thugocrats and their surrogates who are using state apparatus as springboards for the primitive accumulation of wealth.

We are absolutely aware that Chinamasa is trying to instill fear in the change champions but one thing for certain is that Zimbabweans are tired of corruption, arbitrary arrests, abductions, poverty , gross abuse of human freedoms and maladministration at the hands of these perennial sadists. CCC Blasts “Mr Bin”

This spate of ZanuPF sponsored violence must be resisted with equal measure. It is now imperative to confront the beast in the eye through emphatic voting and serious effort to defend the vote. Chinamasa must just go to hell and inform Satan that light has conquered Zimbabwe under the able leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

President Mnangagwa Lifts Zimbabwe Flag High In Davos

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | H.E. President Dr ED Mnangagwa Co-chaired a breakfast meeting with Friends of the African Continental Free Trade Area, the world’s largest.

FIFA boss meets President Mnangagwa

The meeting is looking at how PPPs can help implementation of AfCFTA. Other co-chairs are Heads of State of Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda & Nigeria. The African continental Free Trade Area is poised to be the largest trading bloc consolidating Africa’s intra trade.

Zimbabwe President arrived in Davos Switzerland where he marks his third attendance to the World Economic Forum.

President Mnangagwa with Malawi president, Lazarus Chakwera and others

This comes after two years of absence due to the global pandemic which has brought the World’s economy on to it nose.
Contrary to the detractors the president went straight into business in a trip meant to put Zimbabwe within reach of the global economic arena.
Members of the opposition took turns to write on Twitter criticising the president for attending this Forum.
What is obviously missing from the opposition shallow thinking is the understanding of the World Economic Forum.
The World Economic Forum was founded in 1971 by Klaus Schwab, a business professor at the University of Geneva. First named the European Management Forum, it changed its name to the World Economic Forum in 1987 and sought to broaden its vision to include providing a platform for resolving international conflicts. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international non-governmental and lobbying organisation based in Cologny, canton of Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded on 24 January 1971 by German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab. The foundation, which is mostly funded by its 1,000 member companies – typically global enterprises with more than five billion US dollars in turnover – as well as public subsidies, views its own mission as “improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.
The German economist Klaus Schwab first brought together 450 leaders for what was then called the European Management Symposium.
Schwab was a professor at the University of Geneva when he asked business leaders from around the continent to discuss how they were competing in a global marketplace, particularly against American firms. The European Management Forum, the group supervising the meeting, was based in the city of Chur—but Schwab chose Davos, a place otherwise known for skiing, as the site of the gathering since then Davos became the base of this global meeting which brings together politicians, business people and academicians alike.
The World Economic Forum again brings together the forces of the world at Davos, and from this Forum countries hope to bring out the best for each country for the benefit of the globe.
It is the first time the Forum
is meeting in springtime rather than January – when it is traditionally held – for the first time, having been postponed on multiple occasions because of COVID-19 pandemic.
In its 50-year history, the WEF has never been confronted with such unprecedented global issues as it now faces in 2022, as the world recovers from a global pandemic, grapples to contain the devastating impact of the climate crisis, and navigates a geopolitical storm following the invasion of Ukraine.
Børge Brende, President of the WEF, said in a pre-event briefing.
“Global challenges need global solutions, and we’re not seeing these global solutions and that’s where we have to push at Davos”.
This sets the tone of the forum and cuts right through the fifty years of existence.
In the breakfast meeting today President MNANGAGWA emphasised a push towards a made in Africa revolution boosting Africa’s regional value chains. The AfCFTA is much more than a trade agreement. It is an instrument for Africa’s development. The stake holders made commitments to drive the continent’s integration and the unity of purpose. In the side lines of the forum the AfCFTA channeled ways to achieve regional value chains thereby laying foundations for a Made in Africa Revolution.
As African economies seek to move away from being suppliers of raw materials to the rest of the world and towards trading more value-added products with each other, developing RVCs will enable countries to combine their comparative and competitive advantages to participate in industries from which they would otherwise be excluded. Africa is becoming Stake holders and not subjects.
“The ability for the AfCFTA to drive this transformation in Africa is partly The president urged African countries to achieve a successful transition from current inward-looking approaches to trade and investment towards the strengthening of RVCs where different segments of the industry VCs are located across the region reflecting local comparative advantage.
The World Economic Forum and AfCFTA aim to help governments target sectors that can benefit from their country’s entry into the AfCFTA and market players to better understand where they should invest. It also offers views from industry players running exporting enterprises in some of the value chains identified, all in the service of creating a Made in Africa revolution.
ZIMBABWE will not be left behind in claiming a position in the global market. The African Continental Free Trade Area is an ambitious trade pact to form the world’s largest free trade area by connecting almost 1.3bn people across 54 African countries. It is this platform that Zimbabwe seek to benefit it’s worthy.
The breakfast meeting which was chaired by the president sought to enforce an agreement to create a single market for goods and services in order to deepen the economic integration of Africa. The trade area could have a combined gross domestic product of around $3.4 trillion, but achieving its full potential depends on significant policy reforms and trade facilitation measures across African signatory nations. The AfCFTA aims to reduce tariffs among members and covers policy areas such as trade facilitation and services, as well as regulatory measures such as sanitary standards and technical barriers to trade. Zimbabwe stands to benefit from this years Forum and thanks to the President Zimbabwe will have a double benefit from this years World Economic Forum.

Teachers Roast Mthuli Ncube

Teachers’ unions on Sunday expressed anger over Finance and Economic Minister Mthuli Ncube’s claims that the Government has done a lot to improve teachers’ conditions of service.

Last week Ncube told Parliament that teachers were never paid US$540 before October 2018 when the Government effectively brought to an end the policy that had placed bond notes at par with US dollars.

Teachers and other civil servants are demanding the restoration of their pre-October 2018 salaries.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe accused Ncube of creating falsehoods. Said Majongwe:

He can’t create falsehoods. If he isn’t aware that we earned US$540, he can go back to government files and see that.

Soon, we’ll be told that we are not Zimbabweans. The so-called middle-income economy can’t be achieved without teachers.

Our families are here and we want the country’s wealth to be shared equally.

Educators Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Tapedza Zhou told NewsDay that it was Ncube who was misleading the nation. He said:

Mthuli Ncube should not misinform the nation and himself as well by some cheap semantics.

To then claim that they have done a lot to improve salaries for civil servants when he presided over the loss of value for the local currency makes us want to know if the minister is good at addition and subtraction.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure accused Ncube of arrogance. He said:

The statement is reckless and hinges on arrogance. It is a fact that the cost of living is rising both in US$ and local currency terms.

Zimbabwe Union of School Heads secretary-general Munyaradzi Majoni said:

The statements are not only untrue but unfortunate. We don’t know the technical explanations he will use to justify his false assertion on pre-October 2018 salaries. – NewsDay

CCC Favoured Youthful Chief Dies A Painful Death

By-Chief Mabhikwa was trapped in his vehicle wreckage for more than three hours after a crash which claimed his life, a close family member has told CITE.

The traditional leader, who was only 28 years old, died after his Isuzu twin-cab vehicle collided head-on with a haulage truck on the 195km peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on Sunday night.

CCC Bulawayo province has since extended their condolences to the late Chief’s family saying that the traditional leader was an exceptional charecter.

A relative who spoke to CITE revealed that some of the motorists who arrived at the scene of the accident failed to extricate him from the mangled vehicle as he was trapped inside. Said the relative:

He was involved in an accident around 2100 hours in the evening only to reach St Luke’s Hospital after midnight. We are talking about a provincial hospital which had no emergency ambulance.

They (other motorists) failed to assist him since his lower body was trapped and they had no expertise on how to assist, so by the time he got to the hospital he had already lost a lot of blood, with a dislocated/ fractured hip bone.

Born Nichodemus Vusumuzi Khumalo, Chief Mabhikwa of Lupane District in Matabeleland North Province became the youngest chief when he replaced his father Edwin Khumalo in 2012 at the age of 18.

Chamisa Aide Dedicates Victory To Murdered Supporter

Teachers Union Leaders In Horrific Crash

teachers artuz rural teachers

In a nutshell, it is now a public secret that the people of Zimbabwe are craving for change after a long period of suffering under ZanuPF satanists. Voting is part of the independence that they claim to have brought in 1980.

It is our responsibility to prosecute the national democratic revolution to its logical conclusion. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia calls for citizens to embrace dangerous freedom against peaceful slavery under ZanuPF stomach politicians.

Voting has a automatic ritualistic power to transform lives in Zimbabwe. The highlights were clear during the inclusive government headed by the late Icon of Social Democracy President Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.

Mnangagwa In Plot To Kill Teachers’ Union Leaders

“Zanu PF Scared Of Kagame “

By A Correspondent- Joseph Kalimbwe, a member of Zambia’s ruling United Party for National Development led by the country’s President, Hakainde Hichilema has suggested that ZANU PF officials are afraid of criticising Rwandan President Kagame.

Kalimbwe said it’s easier for George Charamba, Ndavaningi Mangwana, and other senior ZANU PF officials to criticise Hichilema for meeting AFRICOM officials in Zambia yet are quiet when Kagame meets the same United States of America military officials. Tweeted Kalimbwe:

Charamba, Mangwana, Moyo and many in ZanuPF spoke a lot about AFRICOM and the US Army in Zambia.https://zero.pindula.co.zw/market/featured/?limit=4

They offered lectures and insulted our leader as if they hold the monopoly of wisdom.

Now that AFRICOM met President Kagame in Rwanda, it’s silent here. Theirs is just pure hate on Hakainde!

Charamba is the Deputy Chief Secretary-Presidential Communications in the Office of the President of Zimbabwe and former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information.

Charamba’s position makes him the official spokesperson for President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Nick Mangwana is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services.

Charamba and Jonathan Moyo, a former ZANU PF Politburo member, have insinuated that Hichilema is a puppet of neo-colonial forces after AFRICOM reportedly proposed to establish a military base in Zambia.

ZANU PF secretary for Finance, Patrick Chinamasa, recently warned Zimbabweans that voting for CCC in next year’s harmonised elections will bring war and instability to the country. He said:

Those who parrot support for quislings ought to be reminded that given Zimbabwe’s illustrious liberation history mooting a US Africom Military base in Zimbabwe as is proposed in Zambia will destabilise Zimbabwe and inevitably trigger a quick befitting counter-revolutionary response.

War Vets Compensation Meant To Grease Them Ahead Of 2023

The number of war veterans has more than quadrupled from 34 000 in 1997 to over 142 000 this year following a government decision to compensate more ex-freedom fighters, with critics warning that the move could have long-term repercussions for the economy.

The number now includes ex-political prisoners, detainees and restrictees from the war that led to independence from Britain in 1980.

Critics say the compensation is meant to grease them to support the ruling Zanu-PF party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Zanu-PF has since 2000 been accused of using the war veterans in violent campaigns in a bid to retain power.

Buckling under pressure from the militant ex-combatants, the late former President Robert Mugabe administration paid them a once-off $50 000 (US$4 300) in 1997, which sent the Zimbabwe dollar crashing in what was later dubbed as Black Friday.

When the war veterans were paid their gratuities, some of them claimed that they had sustained 99% injuries during the war and yet they had no visible disabilities.

In a recent statement, Defence and War Veterans minister Oppah Muchinguri stated: “In terms of section 8 of the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Act, those who were successfully vetted, 144 200 are deemed to be provisionally successful until their names are published in the Government Gazette for 30 days.”

Muchinguri said if there were no representations days against their accreditation after 30, those registered would be deemed accredited.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association chairperson Christopher Mutsvangwa did not respond to questions from NewsDay yesterday saying he was in a meeting.

Last year, some war veterans were arrested after protesting in the Africa Unity Square in Harare over poor living conditions and gratuities.

Despite that the 2022 national budget did not provide for war veterans’ gratuities, the ex-combatants are assured of compensation as the country heads towards the 2023 elections.

Political commentator Farai Gwenhure said the ruling party was going back to its default setting of dishing out trinkets to war veterans in exchange for retaining power.

“When Zanu-PF starts to talk about the welfare of war veterans, know that it has been cornered. The war veterans have been the mainstay of the ruling party,” he said. “It is sad that the war veterans continue to be used and abused by a few people who want to retain power at all costs.”

More Assault Charges For Kudakwashe Mahachi

By A Correspondent- Kudakwashe Mahachi faces a possible criminal investigation for gender-based violence (GBV) after he allegedly assaulted his ex-wife Marita Ndlovu and broke her hand.

The footballer, who plays for SuperSport United in South Africa, is also accused of scalding their four-year-old son, Diego Mahachi, with hot water.

Marita has opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at Norkem Park police station in Kempton Park.

In her statement to the police, Marita alleged that Mahachi assaulted her and locked her up in the house after accusing her of cheating and lying. She said:

I, Marita Ndlovu hereby submit and supplement my statement regarding the assault case against Kudakwashe Mahachi.

I submit that after the assault, which occurred in Terenure, Kempton Park, where I stayed with Mahachi, I was locked in the house and could not go out or access my cellphone, which he had taken away from me.

Assault happened because I was accused of lying and cheating on Mahachi who was my husband at the time.

Marita alleged that four days after the assault, Mahachi organised a plane ticket for her and forced her to leave South Africa. She said:

He took me from the home straight to the airport and sent me to Zimbabwe.

Out of desperation, I reported him to the police in Zimbabwe because I intended on taking action against him for assaulting me in the manner that he did.

She said she later withdrew the case after realising the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) did not have jurisdiction to investigate the case because the assault happened in another country.

Speaking to the South African publication, Sunday World, from Zimbabwe, Marita confirmed she opened a case against her ex-husband.

She said the police contacted her to sign the statement but told them she would return to South Africa to sign it after her son’s recovery.

Kuda and Marita’s son is receiving hospital treatment in Zimbabwe for the injuries he sustained when he was scalded.

Pomona Garbage Deal Was Awarded By Cabinet, Says CCC

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors have distanced themselves from the Pomona dumpsite waste management deal currently dogged by corruption allegations.

Geogenix BV or Pomona Waste Management Private Limited signed a US$316 million contract with the Harare City Council (HCC) to manage the Pomona dumpsite for the next 30 years.

Geogenix has already commenced clearing the ground at the Pomona dumpsite to create a state-of-the-art waste management facility.

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume yesterday told NewsDay that the contract was awarded by Cabinet and had nothing to do with CCC councillors.

“As the mayor I have not approved that contract. It has nothing to do with CCC. That was a contract approved by the Cabinet, and it was pushed by the Cabinet. We have no interest in that contract. It is against the residents, it destroys the resident’s interests,” Mafume said.

Early this month, Harare North MP Allan Markham dragged the city council and Local Government minister July Moyo to court to force them to review the Geogenix contract saying it would be very expensive for the City of Harare.

Markham felt that the contract would force the council to pay Geogenix in foreign currency for 30 years, resulting in the heavy debt being loaded on Harare residents.

Mafume said: “You cannot as landlords enter into a contract where you the landlord pays the lessee, it’s like Hwange Colliery paying Zesa to get its coal. It does not make sense, it is morally wrong.”

Harare Residents Trust director Precious Shumba blasted the waste energy management project saying: “The Harare Residents Trust (HRT) objects to the whole waste to energy project. Firstly, the City of Harare never consulted ratepayers. Secondly, the contractor is not investing any amount of money into the project, and the city has to surrender ownership and control of the Pomona dumpsite without receiving any payment or taxes from Geogenix BV.

“The dumpsite is wholly owned by the City of Harare and it should be the one being paid for the utilisation of garbage by this company. The deal is unjustified. We urge residents of Harare not to fund this madness, and the City of Harare must abandon the project without further offending the ratepayers. Remaining in this deal is not beneficial to the residents.”

The contract between Geogenix and City of Harare is believed to have been signed by the acting town clerk Eegineer Phakamile Moyo as the city’s representative.

Meanwhile, in a joint Press statement yesterday Civic Society organisations blasted the Pomona Waste Energy project saying it was corrupt.

“The City of Harare has no capacity to collect 1 000 tonnes of waste as per the agreement due to its depleted fleet of refuse collection trucks, and the local authority is not in a position to pay US$40 000 per day, hence the deal is meant to fail,” the statement by residents association and CSOs read.

Hundreds Of Teachers To Be Hauled Before Disciplinary Hearings

By A Correspondent- Hundreds of teachers across the country are set to appear before authorities for disciplinary hearings this week for allegedly failing to report for duty last term.

This is despite the fact that the teachers have had their salaries deducted under a no-work-no-pay policy.

The Director of communications in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Taungana Ndoro confirmed the disciplinary hearings. He said:

The hearings are fair and procedural because those who are appearing refused to admit that they did not report for duty.

So they are being afforded an opportunity to defend themselves and explain why they did not report for duty.

We continue engaging teachers on various other issues affecting the sector, but the responsible ministry will deal with the salary issue.

Former Primary and Secondary Education minister David Coltart said the Government has to engage teachers and address their grievances. Said Coltart:

Whatever the law says on the issues affecting teachers, it will not solve the issue at hand.

The best solution is for the minister to engage the teachers’ unions to strategise the way forward.

Teachers are paid slave wages, and messengers and domestic workers are earning more than the teachers. We need dialogue for the best interest of the children.

Going to court will not solve the crisis that the education sector is in.

We should shout on rooftops that the education sector is in a catastrophic state.

Last week, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe revealed that the family basket is now pegged at $120 000 per month. Teachers earn less than half of that amount.-newsday

Mutoko Boy Battles For Life After Being Hauled By Stray Hyenas

A three-year-old Mutoko boy is battling for his life at Harare’s Sally Mugabe Central Hospital after being mauled by a hyena at an apostolic sect shrine.

Denval Chakomoka suffered severe head injuries following the attack that occurred near All Souls Mission in Mutoko.

His parents are appealing for financial assistance to foot medical bills, among them CT scans.

Police in Mashonaland East province said they were yet to receive a report on the case.

The boy’s father Africa Chakomoka, however, told NewsDay that the boy is supposed to undergo several head scans.

“It happened on Friday morning at a shrine in Masango village where my son and her mother had gone for prayers. They were asleep and my wife woke up and saw a hyena dragging our son. The church members managed to confront the animal and it fled, but he was already injured.

“I had to rush him to hospital in Harare where he is admitted. They need at least US$300 for some head scans and we are appealing for assistance from well-wishers,” said Chakomoka, adding that he had informed the traditional leadership about the
attack.

Of late hyenas have been attacking people in Mutoko and Murewa districts.

The largely nocturnal beasts twice invaded Nyahuni Mission School recently but learners chased them away.

Family Wants ‘Umdala Wethu’ Exumed from National Heroes Acre

ZAPU president Sibangilizwe Nkomo, son to late liberation war hero and former Vice President Joshua Nkomo, is demanding the immediate exhumation of his late father’s remains from the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

He wants the iconic late nationalist’s remains to be reburied at his rural home in Kezi, Matebeleland South province.

Nkomo died on July 1, 1999 after a long battle with prostate cancer and was buried at the national shrine.

Speaking at Dumiso Dabengwa’s 3rd anniversary commemorations in Bulawayo Monday, Sibangilizwe claimed that before his death, his father had told him he resented the national shrine burials.

Dabengwa died in Nairobi, Kenya on May 23 in 2019 en-route to Zimbabwe after undergoing a month-long treatment in India. He was declared a national hero and buried at his family grave yard in Ntabazinduna.

“I am one of those people that was tasked by my father to resist his burial at the national heroes acre. He made it very clear that he did not want to be buried at any heroes acre,” Sibangilizwe said.

“He said he wanted to lie beside his parents. This is a task that I was given and it lives with me day in day out. I was not able, in 1999, to fulfill his wishes because I was in the minority against the decision to bury him in Harare. However, as an individual, I feel I still have that task, to fulfil my father’s request,” he said.

The Zapu leader said a lot of Zimbabweans and party members are also not happy that Nkomo was buried at the heroes acre.

“It is important for the nation to know that wherever we are going these days on our meet the people outreach programmes, people are asking one question: What are we doing about Joshua Nkomo’s grave in Harare? It is not up to me to say I am going to exhume him. Yes, I can apply to the ministry of home affairs, but it’s up to the people to emphasise that they want him removed from that place. I cannot do it alone. It is the people who make sure that they don’t want Joshua Nkomo resting with liars and thieves,” he said.

Late President Robert Mugabe was well known for forcing burials at the national shrine, even when family members indicated the deceased’s wishes against it.

Surprisingly, Mugabe was not buried at the shrine. His remains are enterred at his Zvimba home despite calls for their exhumation and reburial at the heroes acre.

The function was attended by ZAPU’s top leadership and members of the Dabengwa family.

Zimbabwe Warriors Booted Out

THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the elimination of Zimbabwe’s Warriors and Kenya from the AFCON 2023 qualifiers scheduled to begin next month.

This was after the two nations failed to meet FIFA conditions for the lifting of their suspension by the world football mother body.

Early this year, FIFA suspended Zimbabwe from international tournaments after the Sport and Recreational Commission suspending the Felton Kamambo led ZIFA board, in what FIFA deemed third party interference in football matters.

FIFA demanded the reinstatement of the ZIFA board and withdrawal of court cases against Kamambo as conditions for the lifting of the sanctions, and Zimbabwe has since failed to meet the conditions.

CAF had however included Zimbabwe and Kenya in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers draw but indicated that the two nations were supposed to meet FIFA conditions two weeks before the qualifiers begin in June.

CAF has since communicated on its website that the two countries will be considered losers and eliminated from the competition, meaning that Groups C and K will be composed only of three teams, while the order of the matches will be maintained.

Zimbabwe had been drawn in group K alongside neighbours South Africa, Sierra Leone and Morocco, while Kenya was in group C, which also comprised Cameroon, Namibia and Burundi.

Zim Church Denounces Gays & Lesbians

By-The United Methodist Church (UMC) has stated its position on the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) movement.

In a statement, UMC leader, Bishop Eben Kunakayi Nhiwatiwa, warned congregants against accepting homosexual marriages as it is against the teaching of the Bible.

This comes after claims that the LGBTQ issue is on the agenda at the United Methodist Church Special General Conference of seven days expected to begin towards the end of August this year. Said Bishop Nhiwatiwa:

The future of the church is in the hands of our able master and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is the author and finisher of our faith.

Marriage is defined in Genesis 2:24 as a union between one man and one woman.

Any sexual activity outside this context is sinful and is an abomination.

Such action upsets God’s divine order for human sexuality.

What does Genesis 2:24 say?

Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh [Revised Standard Version].

The LGBTQ issue was raised ahead at the 2016 General Conference and the Council of Bishops then agreed to have a Special General Conference in 2019 to make a final decision.

This is according to another letter circulating among church leaders expected to attend the General Conference scheduled for August 29 to September 6 2022.

The letter informs the church leaders that the rejected One Church Plan of 2019, has resurfaced with a different name “The Christmas Covenant”. The letter reads in part:

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) group kept growing and pushing for the Book of Discipline to be amended to allow for gay marriages and the ordination of gay and lesbian pastors.

Things got to a head at the 2016 General Conference.

The 2016 GC, through the Council of Bishops, then agreed to have a Special General Conference in 2019 to put a finality to this conflict.

The two main petitions at the 2019 GC were: The One Church Plan (this intended to allow Gay & Lesbian marriages and ordination of Gay & Lesbian Pastors through a decentralisation process with the church remaining as one THE ONE CHURCH PLAN).

Those who have followed these events carefully will have noticed that the One Church Plan, rejected in 2019, has resurfaced with a different name – The Christmas Covenant.

The same people, who campaigned for the One Church Plan, are back campaigning for the Christmas Covenant.

And The Traditional Plan – This advocated to keep the church in the current set-up and upholding the current BOD, which does not allow Gay & Lesbian Marriages and ordination of Gay & Lesbian Pastors.

Allow us to point out that because the General Conference is yet to sit, there is no position taken by the General Church at the moment, therefore, no one should be victimised.

Mnangagwa Minister Freed From Jail

By- Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Douglas Karoro is out on bail.

Karoro and his two alleged accomplices in stealing farming inputs from the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) were on Monday, 23 May granted $50 000 bail, each by a Harare Magistrate.

Karoro is charged with fraudulently acquiring inputs from Mushumbi Pools GMB depot worth US$73 300.
The inputs (fertiliser, maize seed and horticulture kits) were meant for the Presidential Inputs Scheme for Mbire farmers.
Karoro is jointly charged with Jeremy Phiri and Dean Dzimunya, with all facing three counts of fraud, the same as the depot manager who appeared in court last week.

The three are being represented by lawyers Admire Rubaya, Malvern Mapako, Augustine Borerwe and Lucky Dube.
Karoro was arrested on Friday and spent the weekend in custody.
He denied all charges and claimed that his arrest was politically-motivated.
Karoro’s defence lawyers argued that his arrest was caused by his political opponents who want to soil his name and thereby grab the ZANU PF nomination for his Mbire seat in the National Assembly. Said the lawyers:
They did not cause anyone to act on misrepresentation or to anyone.
The dispatch vouchers that the State claims to be in possession of, were not created by any of the accused.
If evidence of the fraud is based on the documents, then surely the State case is grounded on jelly legs.
It is not a serious case and the accused deny that they misrepresented to anyone.
He represents the people of Mbire and he was democratically elected by the beloved people of that constituency.
His political adversaries are sensationalising these offences to make the powers that be angry.
There are political adversaries eyeing his post in the Government and constituency and they have tried too much and failed because he is popular.
They want to muscle him out of Mbire, have by-elections and make sure that he will not be up for selection in 2023 elections.

Prosecutors had opposed bail on the grounds that the three were likely to evade trial.
Harare regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje granted each of the three $50 000 bail.
He also ordered the accused to report once every week to the police.
Mambanje ruled that as an MP, Karoro will not likely try to evade trial or interfere with witnesses.

Kazembe, Matanga Escape Jail

Kazembe Kazembe

By-Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga have been spared from going to prison after paying ZWL$140 000 to a woman who police officers teargassed in 2019.

In 2019, a Harare magistrate ordered Kazembe and Matanga to compensate the woman but they have been avoiding doing so for the past three years.

They only compensated the woman recently after she filed an application at the High Court seeking an order for contempt of court against the duo in 2021.

A statement issued by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) on the matter reads:

NEGLIGENT ZRP PAYS THE PRICE FOR TEAR-GASSING WOMAN

ZIMBABWE Republic Police (ZRP) has paid more than ZWL140 000 as compensation to a Harare woman who was tear-gassed by some law enforcement agents three years ago.

Fifty-eight-year-old Mavis Muzari was left nursing injuries and hospitalised at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after four slipshod ZRP officers indiscriminately threw a tear gas canister inside a commuter omnibus which landed on her lap.

As a result of the negligent police conduct, Muzari was left bleeding from her nose, suffered high blood pressure, sustained a serious injury to her foot including some bruises and felt pain all over her body.

This compelled her to engage Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights in 2019 to sue ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe for damages amounting to ZWL142 170 for violation of her fundamental rights including loss of income, pain and suffering, embarrassment, humiliation and future medical expenses.

Since 2019, ZRP and Hon. Kazembe had vacillated to compensate Muzari and in 2021 she filed an application at the High Court seeking an order for contempt of court against Hon. Kazembe and Matanga and asking them to comply with the Harare Magistrate Court’s decision compelling them to pay a judgment debt of ZWL142 170.

Now, Matanga and Hon. Kazembe have evaded serving jail time after the law enforcement agency notified Chinopfukutwa and provided proof of payment indicating that it had settled Muzari’s judgment debt.

Muzari is the latest person among dozens of people who in recent years have won compensation from ZRP after suing for damages arising from the violation of their rights as a result of the wayward conduct of some police officers in the execution of their law enforcement duties.

Chiefs Storm Out Of Council Meeting

By- Five chiefs have stormed out of a meeting with the Tsholotsho Rural District Council councillors after one of the councillors accused them of politicking.

This event happened last Thursday after the councillors said the chiefs lied to the Government on the procedures that were followed, leading to the slashing of elephant trophy fees from US$40 000 to US$10 000.

The councillor, from Ward Eight, Christopher Sibanda, claimed the chiefs were trying to impose their preferred persons as councillors.

First to walk out of the meeting at the council chambers was Chief Gampu, who signed on behalf of the chiefs, the hard-hitting letter that also accused some councillors of corruption that has seen them acquiring unexplained wealth soon after the jumbos were sold.
A council insider told Chronicle that Cllr Sibanda, representing councillors, first read the letter that the chiefs wrote to the Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo complaining about how the council handled the whole elephant trophy sales issue and corruption claims. After finishing, he then shot from the hip and accused the cultural custodians of politicking and misrepresenting facts to the Government.
“Everyone inside the Chambers was taken aback except a few councillors because before the meeting councillors had a short caucus chaired by council chairman Esau Siwela where they agreed not to bow down to the demands of the chiefs. After those utterances by Cllr Sibanda, Chief Gampu, who was the signatory to the letter, immediately walked out of the room in clear anger as he felt the insult was directed at him,” said the insider.
As the drama unfolded, there was a brief moment of silence before Cllr Siwela requested the District Development Coordinator (DDC), Mr Aaron Gono to engage the traditional leaders, the source said.
The discussions between Mr Gono and the four chiefs, Chief Siphoso, Chief Mathuphula, Chief Tategulu and Chief Magama, were held outside the council chambers but yielded no positive outcome as the Chiefs told Mr Gono that they could no longer continue with the meeting since one of them had already walked out and showed no intentions of returning.
“The chiefs went back to the Chambers, collected their diaries and drove off,” said the source.
Contacted for comment, Chief Magama confirmed that the meeting did not end well but said he could not add more “because council has dispatched a delegation to apologise to us. ”
Cllr Siwela also confirmed the unusual scenario and said that he apologised on behalf of the councillor whom he chose not to name.
“Indeed, we had a meeting with the chiefs and committees for natural resources and the Campfire project. I think at the start of the meeting there was a comment from one councillor who said they have been doing a lot for the chiefs from Campfire funds so they must not claim that nothing was being done for them.

“He then went on to say the chiefs must not criticise councillors as if they have their own people that they want to be councillors. I think that was an unfortunate statement. I apologised on his behalf but it seems that statement did not go down well with Chief Gampu who walked out of the meeting. Chief Tategulu said the meeting must stick to the agenda instead of dwelling on unrelated issues.

“However, Chief Mathuphula said before the meeting could continue, the councillor must first withdraw his statement which was done but Chief Siphoso said while the withdrawal had been done the meeting could no longer continue in the absence of Chief Gampu,” said Cllr Siwela.
Mr Gono said the chiefs walked out because they felt they were being attacked, belittled and disrespected by their subjects, especially when the whole agenda of the meeting was basically meant to bring the two parties together.
“What happened was really so unfortunate, the meeting was meant for the two parties to smoke the peace pipe but the chiefs felt attacked by utterances from the Ward Eight councillor, in particular, Chief Gampu because he was the one who signed the letter on behalf of the other chiefs.
“This meeting also came following recommendations by the Local Government and Public Works Deputy Minister Marian Chombo but unfortunately, an unexpected situation happened,” said Mr Gono. Chronicle

Teachers Blast Mthuli Ncube

– NewsDay

Zimbabweans On Anti-Mnangagwa Plates

By-Opposition activists have developed an innovative way of campaigning against Zanu PF.

Senior CCC Official Arrested

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change secretary general for Manicaland was Sunday arrested for addressing a political gathering in Doradombo at Mambondiyani mountain.

Godfrey Mubatsa, was reportedly picked up for contravening Section 7(5) of Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (MOPA) in a dramatic detention where he sacrificed himself for other 19 political activists.

Sources say Mubatsa is being held at Mutare Central Police station.

It is reported he offered to be arrested and shield his colleagues who also participated in the exercise to charm the rural electorate ahead of 2023 elections.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo he was not aware of the arrest.

Muzondo said the Law-and-Order section would confirm as he warned against possible politicisation of the arrest of opposition figures.

“I don’t have knowledge about this matter, this would need to be verified, let me find out, as I have not been upraised as Manicaland police spokesperson.

CCC provincial spokesperson David Panganayi confirmed the arrest stating that the party was refuting police claims, while an internal fact-finding mission is underway through liaison with its structures to get concrete evidence on the matter without pre-emptying the accused defense in courts.

Panganayi said political persecution of the party’s leadership was common cause of police actions.

He said there was selective application of the law and targeted assaults.

He also said the police are working in cahoots with the ruling Zanu-PF, in well-orchestrated manhunts to thwart opposition programs in rural areas.

“It is true that Mubatsa was arrested yesterday and we understand it was for allegedly addressing a gathering that was not cleared.

“While I don’t have sufficient details, it is still sketchy but we have information that he is detained at Mutare central pending appearance before Mutare Magistrate,” he said.

Bulawayo Man Arrested For Exposing Genitals To Church Women

A man from Bulawayo was arrested last week after he entered a church building and dangled his male organ in front of two women who were cleaning the place of worship in the North End suburb.

The suspect, Gabriel Tshalibe, whose age and address were not given, allegedly exposed his genitals to Sipho Ndlovu (62) from Pelandaba West suburb and her churchmate Ntombizodwa Tshabalala.

Allegations are that on 17 May 2022, at around 1 PM Ndlovu and Tshabalala were at the Centre of Miracle Church of Christ in North End suburb cleaning.

It is further alleged that Tshabile approached the two women and then unzipped his trousers and pulled his privates out of his pants in their full view.

Tshabile allegedly approached the women while holding his organ, prompting them to flee to their pastor Emmet Ndlovu’s house which is located a few metres away from the church.

The two women told their pastor what had transpired and the pastor quickly phoned members of the neighbourhood watch committee who immediately came to the church.

Tshalibe who had left the scene was apprehended along Athlone Avenue while on his way to town and they took him to ZRP Kumalo.

Tshalibe appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa facing a charge of public indecency.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 2 June.

Stop Lying To Nation, Teachers Challenge Mthuli Ncube

– NewsDay

WarVet Number Shoots Up from 34,000 To 142,000

The number of war veterans has more than quadrupled from 34 000 in 1997 to over 142 000 this year following a government decision to compensate more ex-freedom fighters, with critics warning that the move could have long-term repercussions for the economy.
The number now includes ex-political prisoners, detainees and restrictees from the war that led to independence from Britain in 1980.

Critics say the compensation is meant to grease them to support the ruling Zanu PF party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Zanu PF has since 2000 been accused of using the war veterans in violent campaigns in a bid to retain power.

“When Zanu PF starts to talk about the welfare of war veterans, know that it has been cornered. The war veterans have been the mainstay of the ruling party,” he said. “It is sad that the war veterans continue to be used and abused by a few people who want to retain power at all costs.” –Newsday

China Sponsors ZANU Youths

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has sponsored 20 Zanu PF youths to attend an ideological exchange programme in Tanzania.
Addressing youths and some Zanu PF supporters during the send-off ceremony held at the party headquarters in Harare yesterday, Zanu PF secretary for finance Patrick Chinamasa urged the youths to be good ambassadors.

He said they would be trained at the Julius Nyerere School of Ideology in Tanzania, where they would meet other liberation movements.

The ideological exchange programme is set to begin today in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“The Chinese Communist Party always wants us to remain on the revolutionary path and they are sponsoring the 12-day seminar,” Chinamasa said.

Former Zanu PF deputy secretary for youth affairs Tendai Chirau, who is leading the delegation, said: “Former liberation parties will share ideas. Zanu PF is based on ideology and we have always worked with such liberation movements. Remember the Communist Party of China provided weaponry and military training to our comrades so that we attain the independence we are enjoying today. We have Frontline States like Frelimo from Mozambique which are going to be part of the leadership training, and we have worked with such liberation movements.”

Chirau said the leadership training was very important as it fit well with the Africa Day agenda on May 25.

Some of the liberation movements attending the 12-day seminar are Tanzania’s Chama Cha Mapinduzi, The People’s Movement for Liberation of Angola and the South West African People’s Organisation of Namibia, among others.— Newsday

Mnangagwa Gangs Up With Dictator Masisi for Protection At Davos

Emmerson Mnangagwa, in Davos attending the World Economic Forum, has ganged up with Botswana’s Mokgweetsi Masisi and several other dictators.

The development means Mnangagwa is saved from hard hitting questions.

Mnangagwa will co-chair a breakfast discussion around Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Mnangagwa will co-chair the session alongside with Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, Namibia President Hage Geingob, Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Nigeria Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Running under the theme “Friends of the African Continental Free Trade Area”, the breakfast meeting will explore how public-private partnerships can support the implementation of AfCFTA.

AfCFTA is comprised of 55 countries with a population of 1,3 billion and combined GDP of about US$3,4 trillion, making it the largest free trade area in the world, both by area and by the number of countries.

The World Bank estimates that, if implemented properly, by 2035 AfCFTA is set to lift 30 million Africans out of extreme poverty and 68 million from moderate poverty.

The same World Bank study finds that the AfCFTA has the potential to increase intra-African trade by 81 percent by 2035. Currently, 54 of the 55 African countries have signed the agreement, and 41 countries have ratified it.

Zimbabwe is finalising its tariff offer under AfCFTA and hopes to reap huge trade benefits under the agreement, according to Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza, in a speech last month.

President Mnangagwa interacts with Zimbabweans living in Switzerland on arrival in Zurich for the World Economic Forum (WEF) yesterday.

Mr Borge Brende, the President of the World Economic Forum, will moderate the session while closing remarks will be delivered by Ms Vera Songwe, executive secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

Later in the day, President Mnangagwa is expected to deliver opening remarks at a workshop themed “Unlocking New Investment and Services Markets”.

The workshop comes as vast sums of money are available for productive investments in emerging markets, but due to regulatory bottlenecks “this capital is not flowing to where it is most needed”.

The workshop will thus explore how public-private collaboration can accelerate the scale and impact of investment in emerging markets.

Another event where President Mnangagwa will participate is a roundtable on Restoring Peace and Order amid intensifying geopolitical fractures undoing progress on key global goals.

Mid-morning, the President will attend another informal gathering of world economic leaders roundtable discussion on “Resilience for Sustainable Growth”.

The discussion, to be attended by political and economic leaders alone, without the media, will focus on the conflict in Ukraine, the Covid-19 pandemic and the effects of climate change on the “brittle nature of food systems, global supply chains and energy networks”.

Participants are expected to come up with steps necessary to build greater resilience at both the global and national levels.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s packed programme, Stuart Comberbach, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, Switzerland, said the WEF is a very important forum for Zimbabwe and the fact that Zimbabwe was invited means it is being recognised among the international community of nations.

He said the WEF is not for speeches, “which are actually actively discouraged”, but interactive discussions that proffer strategies and solutions.

The whole idea is to allow participants to be very open and honest on the challenges being faced globally and what can be done to address them, according to Ambassador Comberbach.-state media

WHO Closely Monitors Monkeypox

20 May 2022 Statement Geneva Reading time: 1 min (288 words)

WHO and partners are working to better understand the extent and cause of an outbreak of monkeypox. The virus is endemic in some animal populations in a number of countries, leading to occasional outbreaks among local people and travelers. The recent outbreaks reported across 11 countries so far are atypical, as they are occurring in non-endemic countries.

There are about 80 confirmed cases so far, and 50 pending investigations. More cases are likely to be reported as surveillance expands.

WHO is working with the affected countries and others to expand disease surveillance to find and support people who may be affected, and to provide guidance on how to manage the disease.

We continue to convene meetings of experts and technical advisory groups (such as the meeting today of the Strategic & Technical Advisory Group on Infectious Hazards with Pandemic and Epidemic Potential [STAG-IH]) to share information on the disease and response strategies.

WHO continues to receive updates on the status of ongoing outbreaks in endemic countries.

Monkeypox spreads differently from COVID-19. WHO encourages people to stay informed from reliable sources, such as national health authorities, on the extent of the outbreak in their community (if any), symptoms and prevention.

As monkeypox spreads through close contact, the response should focus on the people affected and their close contacts. People who closely interact with someone who is infectious are at greater risk for infection: this includes health workers, household members and sexual partners.

Stigmatizing groups of people because of a disease is never acceptable. It can be a barrier to ending an outbreak as it may prevent people from seeking care, and lead to undetected spread.

As the situation is evolving, WHO will continue to provide updates we learn more.

PVO Bill Dismissed As An Act Of Terrorism Against Citizens

Opposition legislators have rubbished the Private Voluntary Organisations Amendment (PVOs) Bill describing it as an act of terrorism against citizens.

The MPs believe the Bill, currently at the Second Reading Stage in the National Assembly, will stifle operations of non-governmental organisation that have been assisting vulnerable communities.

Other critics of the Bill have also dismissed it as unconstitutional and a piece of legislation aimed at abolishing civil society organisations and their operations in Zimbabwe.

Government, however, says the Bill will help curb money laundering.

Contributing to debate on the Bill last Thursday, Norton legislator Temba Mliswa (Independent) said: “The citizens of Bulawayo are saying by passing this Bill, the government will be doing an act of terrorism against its citizens because right now they have nothing; they have no food, they cannot send their children to school and this is the role that the NGOs and the PVOs are playing in the country. I implore Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi that this Bill must not see the light of the day, if he cares about citizens.”

Bulawayo proportional representation MP Jasmine Toffa (Citizens Coalition for Change) said the Bill was being crafted at a time when people in places like Bulawayo were not given the opportunity to air their views on its provisions.

“During public hearings in Bulawayo, there was a lot of chaos. The citizens of Bulawayo were not given an opportunity to air their views. There were people who were sponsored to create chaos. It was said that the non-governmental organisations and the PVOs are committing acts of terrorism against the government,” Toffa said.

Government gazetted the PVOs Amendment Bill in 2021 saying the amendments will align the existing PVO Act with the financial Action Task Force recommendations against money laundering and financing terrorism.

But NGOs have said about 18 000 jobs will be lost if the Bill sailed through Parliament as it sought to give government too much power to regulate and silence them against speaking out on corruption and human rights abuses, and demanding transparency and accountability.

Man Displays Manhood In Church

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 2 June.

AFCON Participation Not A Priority- Government

Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) chairman Gerald Mlotshwa says Zimbabwe’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2023 qualifiers is not a priority, all but pouring cold water on the possibility of the Warriors taking part.

The sports regulatory body suspended the Felton Kamambo-led Zifa executive last year for several violations, chief among them failure to account for public funds, a decision which led to Zimbabwe being suspended by Fifa for ‘third party interference.’

Despite the suspension, Caf put the Warriors in the group stages draw for the Afcon 2023 qualifiers on condition that the Fifa suspension be lifted at least two weeks before match day one.

Mlotshwa, who has to lift the SRC’s suspension first before Fifa is approached, said the qualifiers are not a priority.

“Let me be brutally clear about this, Afcon qualifiers are not a priority or a decision for the SRC right now. It’s as simple as that,” Mlotshwa told The Standard

There were reports last week suggesting that the SRC had approached the Court of Arbitration (CAS) for Sport seeking the reverse the Fifa ban, but Mlotshwa rubbished them, saying its not true.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Guardiola Celebrates Premier League Triumph

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes that winning the English Premier League is more difficult than clinching the Champions League.

The Manchester club, under Guardiola, has won the EPL three times and could take the tally to four if they beat Aston Villa on the final day of the campaign.

The Citizens, however, are yet to win a Champions League trophy. The team managed to reach the final of the previous edition but lost it to Chelsea.

Despite failing to capture the Champions League glory, Pep has stated it’s England’s top flight that is the hardest to win.

“I would say it [winning the Premier League title] is more difficult,” Guardiola told reporters ahead of Villa clash.

“There are a lot of weeks and games, struggles with injuries, good and bad moments with different situations, tough opponents.

“It’s satisfying because it’s every day. When you fight for the Premier League and have success right at the end, it gives you a sense that you enjoy a lot. We are happier in our lives when you win.

“When you win and win it [makes for] good training sessions, a good environment and mood. It’s not like the FA Cup or a single game, it’s a routine.”

The gaffer added:“I’m not saying the Champions League is not important – we’re mad, crazy to win it.

“We want it, we love it.

“We’d love to be in Paris [in the final] next week but to win 38 games, rather than six, eight or nine games, is different.

“Always I like it, since I was a player. The league is nice and we are on the verge of that. We are close.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Aston Villa Sign Nakamba Cover

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Boubacar Kamara from Olympique Marseille on a free transfer.

The French youth international, whose deal at Marseille expire at the end of the season, was the subject of extensive interest from several European clubs including Atletico Madrid who had been leading the chase to snap up the defensive midfielder.

Steven Gerrard, however, managed to persuade the 22-year-old to move to the Villa Park. He comes in as Marvelous Nakamba’s cover in the defensive midfield.

The Villans have, at times, fell short in the central midfield with Douglas Luiz being called in as a cover in Nakamba’s absence.

Meanwhile, Kamara becomes Villa’s second signing of the summer transfer window after they agreed a deal with Barcelona to make Philippe Coutinho’s move permanent.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
