President Chamisa described Mr Mnangagwa’s economic policies as porous and inconsistent.
Below is President Chamisa’s presentation…
The economy is tanking and Zimbabweans are suffering at the hands of bad leadership, poor governance and porous economic policies. As the alternative government, we propose the following to be considered and adopted:
There is a crisis of confidence in the market, citizens are suffering from the price hikes and deepening poverty level. All gvt policies must be demand driven, inclusive &fully consultative. The recent attack on CZI position paper by Gvt is regrettable and must never be tolerated!
Stop the auction system and go for full dollarisation – this will immediately remove distortions, multiple pricing, arbitrage, secure stability and save exporting companies from imminent collapse and help all businesses and economic agents to preserve capital.
In line with (3), we should immediately work on a de-dollarisation road map which is inclusive and evidence based and build on consensus as opposed to command economics and threatening businesses with statutory instruments.
To address the economic challenges (such exchange rate spiral and inflation) caused by short term finance on infrastructure, gvt must use long long term finance such as diaspora bonds (eg Ethiopia-the Grand Renaissance Dam) and public private partnerships to fund infrastructure.
Embrace SMART agriculture with a view to foster more active role of the market & gvt providing oversight to minimise distortions caused by agricultural subsidies. The commodity exchange should be used as an effective vehicle for funding & marketing of agricultural commodities.
We must embrace a genuine social contract, which is inclusive to move forward as a nation. Also Expedite a Pre-Election Pact on elections & reforms, constitutionalism and respect of human rights so we restore our integrity in the family of nations.Genuine dialogue is key!
Stop corruption and save US$2.8bn,being the US$1.8bn through illicit financial flows and US $1bn wasted in state owned enterprises and line ministries). This money,if saved, is a real game changer.Greedy, indiscipline and corruption stand as the biggest threat to the economy.
We are students from various tertiary colleges Morgan Zintec, Belvedere, Mkoba, Bondolfi, Madziwa the intake groups of 2019 who started the teaching practice in January 2021.
We signed appointment letters to commence our teaching practices in January 2021 and were supposed to finish in December 2021 as per the contract forms signed.
Due to covid lockdown measures which were put in place, schools were not opened for the second term of 2021.
Schools then opened on 17 September for the school learning term and closed on 14 December, the same month of December the student teachers from the above mentioned colleges did not receive their bonuses with no explanations.
As we were supposed to return to the colleges for the final year, we were then told that the last term of last year was our 2nd year and we are to continue with the first term of 2022 on teaching practice.
We continued with the teaching practice till schools closed on 7 April 2022 with no allowances be it Covid allowances, normal RTGS allowances and our December 2021 bonuses still were not paid.
Towards the end of March 2022 in fact the 3rd week, we were told to complete TY 30 forms and a week later we told to complete appointment letters hoping that at least we would get our salaries by the payday of this month of April. Still nothing materialised.
It looks like the SSB officials are working in cahoots with some college officials to defraud the students teachers our hard to get teaching practice allowances.
We only heard that as of late during the month of March, after some behind the scenes consultations SSB then managed to pay Bondolfi students teachers only and the rest of the student teachers from colleges like Morgan Zintec, Madziva, Mkoba are still waiting to receive our December 2021 bonuses, Covid allowances and actual salary/allowances from 10 December 2021 to 7 April 2022 as per the letters of appointment signed during the month of March 2022.
By Pepukai Begede- Change (positive) is usually very difficult to achieve especially in the long run. When a specific task takes too long to achieve the consequences of such experience is that people unite to keep their positions in anticipation for a break through.
They may however overlook the fact that they themselves are now an obstacle to achievement. This is the main reason why issues of governance in Africa are greatly being compromised. Overlooking better people with modern skills in preference for acquaintance(s).
Many companies are failing in Africa and in Zimbabwe in particular because of this myopic behavior. Knowledge is best for advancement in as much as stagnation is promoted by keeping volume than value.
Non performing individuals should be retrenched as vibrant and innovative people are engaged. It’s not necessarily about “Age” but performance through target evaluation .
Its unwise to replace an old hardworking and innovative individual by a young hallucinating lazy-nonperforming youngster. It is also not beneficial to keep old cows that no longer produce milk yet wanting food at the end of the day.
It is unwise in this modern era to waste more resources training lazy people to fit for positions that they dont qualify for yet naturally gifted and maneuvering individuals with volume and value are there. I have seen companies and Governments keeping people in positions for salaries and self upkeep at the expense of results delivery or cost-benefit analysis.
Don’t kill the future through negligence and mercy.
By A Correspondent- Award-winning Zimbabwean rapper and dancer Kikky Badass has defended the late Obert Karombe’s alleged side chick. The queen of rap slammed critics for judging the young lady after she suffered severe injuries in the horrific accident which claimed Karombe’s life.
Following news that the girl may have been permanently paralysed due to the accident, some social media users showed her no sympathy. They insisted that she got what she had coming because she was involved with a married man.
However, Kikky slammed the critics, saying they were going low for wishing such evil on the alleged side chick.
While acknowledging that the girl was wrong, she said no one deserves such a fate and called for people to be more charitable.
Writing on Instagram, Kikky said,
It’s very low for one to suggest that chihure chinokonzera ma accident because that’s a lie. A low blow, if you’re going to judge someone judge chihure chacho Kwete accident because no one plans for something like that to happen. Accidents happen everyday to people from all walks of life.
This whole “dzidzai kusachiva” is quite hilarious because accidents don’t happen because wachiva or wararama a certain lifestyle they happen randomly and they are not planned, NEXT it please.
That girl was wrong for the other part she played yes , but to say she deserves it is quite evil. The whole story is just messy but we shouldn’t act like we are perfect . I hope that she can recover, obviously Gods grace got her out alive for a purpose .
According to unconfirmed reports on social media, the late Karombe was not in the wrong, but an army truck lost control and swerved into his lane, causing the crash.
JOHANNESBURG, April 29 (Reuters) – South Africa may be entering a fifth COVID wave earlier than expected after a sustained rise in infections over the past 14 days that seems to be driven by the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron sub-variants, health officials and scientists said on Friday.
The country that has recorded the most coronavirus cases and deaths on the African continent only exited a fourth wave around January and had predicted a fifth wave could start in May or June, early in the southern hemisphere winter.
Health Minister Joe Phaahla told a briefing that although hospitalisations were picking up there was so far no dramatic change in admissions to intensive care units or deaths.
He said at this stage health authorities had not been alerted to any new variant, other than changes to the dominant one circulating, Omicron.
Infectious disease specialist Richard Lessells told the same briefing that waning immunity from previous waves could be contributing to the earlier-than-expected resurgence in cases.
He said the rising share of infections attributed to the BA.4 and BA.5 sub-lineages of Omicron suggested they had a growth advantage over other Omicron sub-variants like BA.2.
But so far there was no sign that BA.4 and BA.5 were causing significantly more severe disease, said Waasila Jassat from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
South Africa has reported more than 3.7 million COVID cases and over 100,000 deaths during the pandemic. On Thursday, the WHO’s Africa office flagged the rise in South Africa’s infections as the main driver of an uptick on the African continent. read more
Senior health official Nicholas Crisp also said on Friday that the country had enough vaccine doses and was not planning to procure more. He added the government was not intending to buy Pfizer’s (PFE.N) COVID treatment pill Paxlovid for public sector patients, partly because it was very expensive.
Another married lady is accusing a well-known conman who calls himself Prophet Rushiri of having sex with her after lying that she would be anointed during the act.
The lady says she is being threatened with death if she tells anyone about her affair with the conman.
This year alone more than 30 married ladies have accused Rushiri of having sex with them and destroying their marriages.
The conman was firstly ashamed after he slept with the wife of one Masvingo man who was helping him with his Funcago car.
The thief in white clothes decided to take both the car and the wife.
“I agreed to have sex with him because he said I would be anointed. As you know that Prophet Rushiri is known deceiving people through fake miracles.
I tried to apologise to my hubby but he refused saying I must get cured of the STI that I got from prophet first, I feel for my kids and I want God to punish Rushiri,” said one lady who was Rushiri’s follower.
‘The man is sleeping with every lady, it’s now not safe for our kids and wives to go to Rushiri’s sex house which he makes it looks like a church,” added one angry Masvingo man.
By Knowledge Hakata- With less than a year and two months before Zimbabwe holds its highly anticipated 2023 Presidential elections,
President Mnangagwa has of late turned for support from self-styled Prophets and Papa’s in the much flocked charismatic churches in Zimbabwe. The late former President and African strongman Robert Mugabe was usually known for flocking the white garments churches such as Mwazha Sect, Johanne Marange, Mugodhi and he could as well go as far as Zaoga and ZCC.
Politically Zanu Pf has managed to keep its political muscles intact through dishing large pieces of land to these denominations and most of their leaders have proclaimed their allegiance to Zanu Pf especially the likes of Ezekiel Guti, Nehemiah Mutendi, Ndanga ,Wutaunashe, the Noah Taguta just to name a few.
By appointing Uebert Angel as the Ambassador at Large to the Americans and Europe, Mnangagwa made a bold move in capturing one of the most followed Zimbabwean Prophet who at one time prophesied that Zanu Pf will not be removed from power anytime soon. Considering that most of his followers in Zimbabwe are gullible and unsuspecting that this man of cloth is just after taking all their hard earned money through manipulating the gospel.
His appointment was a clever move by Mnangagwa as the prophet will be used to spread propaganda through the pulpit that will cause many not to register to vote as well as loosing interest in voting at all costs, however one should bear in mind that these prophets they don’t just endorse Zanu Pf without massive benefits.
Walter Magaya is undoutly a staunch Zanu Pf sympathizer, whom at one point had to part with thousands of dollars just to buy Former First lady Grace Mugabe book when the then powerful First Lady turned 50 years. In his words Prophet Magaya said he was happy to meet the First Family and he would continue to support the First Lady’s philanthropic work.
During his then crusade in Botswana, Prophet Magaya indicated that it was his wish to meet the then and late President Mugabe. Considering his large following at his Waterfalls base Magaya has never criticized the current regime for its violations of Human Rights either has he ever opened his mouth about the looting and corruption that is practiced by the Harare regime.
He is one of these self-styled prophets who have received large chunks of land and mines at the hands of Zanu Pf, whilst thousands of his followers they are walloping in abject poverty.
Comedian and Flamboyant thief Prophet Passion Java was appointed by Mnangagwa to mislead the youths not to register to vote. Java has been campaigning for Mnangagwa and has been following the President at all Zanu Pf events.
The self-styled thief has also been recruiting some popular socialist to support Mnangagwa and Robert Mugabe became his latest victim. The fake prophet has also been bankrolling local artist as to spread Mnangagwa propaganda and Roki has been one of his mouth piece through his music.
The young prophet has also received his portion of hard cash as well as mining claims, while Zimbabwean hospitals have no cancer machines and thousand are dying every day.
The highly respected and teacher of the word Prophet Makandiwa became Mnangagwa’s latest man of the cloth to endorse the Harare regime when Munangagwa and his Deputy Chiwenga attended his highly packed Easter Conference in Chitungwiza. Makandiwa was quoted saying ‘’It is never the responsibility of the government to create jobs for you’’. The creation of an environment is their responsibility so that you and I prosper and we have that opportunity in Zimbabwe.
There is something wrong with a citizen who keeps complaining and shifting blame, Makandiwa said “. However the same government he says should not create jobs has itself been promising those jobs.
One hopes that religion is not going to be used by preachers, whom people are following in good faith, to shield the government from accountability and delivery of public services in line with electoral promises.
The recent endorsement of Manangagwa by Makandiwa became the final nail on all the famous pastors and preachers in Zimbabwe on which how Zanu Pf has managed to capture all of them.
However Zimbabweans should not lose sleep about how all these prophets are endorsing Mnangagwa one after the other as this is normal in a game of politics, rather Zimbabweans should continue to heed the call by renowned journalist Hopewell Chin‘ono to continue to register to vote in numbers.
It appears the only Zhakata who likes to tell the truth, is Leonard Karikoga.
The legendary musician once said in one of his masterpieces Kana Ndichitaura Batai Mazwi, Kuitira Mangwana (When I speak, listen so that tomorrow you won’t say I didn’t tell you).
That is exactly what you should do on the Alvin ‘Aluvah’ Zhakata saga — listen to us.
Less than a week after it emerged that the Warriors fan is stuck in Cameroon where he is ‘homeless and helpless’, Soccer24 has it on good authotity that a Zimbabwean well-wisher offered to help him, to no avail.
Aluvah has been holed up in the West African’s capital Yaounde, since the Afcon 2021 finals ended in February, amid revelations that he owes Arena Hotel money for unpaid bills and his return home hit a brick wall after his plane ticket attracted penalties.
Soccer24 understands that a Zimbabwean abroad offered to buy Aluvah a ticket, as well as pay the claimed penalties using a credit card, but the lanky fan cast a deaf ear to the proposal and instead, opted for money to be sent.
This totally questions not only his sincerity about the need for help to come back home, but the actual reasons why he is in Cameroon.
“I offered to buy him a ticket as well as pay for the supposed penalty using a credit card. Initially he agreed, but when I then asked him of the day he wants to travel so that I could buy the ticket, he started ignoring me,” the well-wisher, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed to Soccer24.
Contrary to what has been widely-reported, Aluvah is not living in the streets in Cameroon, he has a room to stay in and even has access to food, Wi-Fi and of course, alcohol.
Human rights group, Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) has petitioned National Assembly speaker Jacob Mudenda to intervene in the alleged ill-treatment of Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife, Marry Mubaiwa.
In a letter dated April 25 addressed to Mudenda, ROHR Zimbabwe United Kingdom chapter secretary Alvina Chibhamu said the manner in which Mubaiwa was being treated was unacceptable.
“We write to your august House with regards to the apparent continued persecution of Marry Mubaiwa, which, in our view, is a typical case of ‘lawfare’ waged against a citizen by a State whose institutions are captured by an elite few,” the ROHR letter read.
“We are concerned about Mubaiwa-Chiwenga’s health condition and how she is being denied the opportunity to travel and seek medical assistance outside Zimbabwe.”
Chibhamu added: “Marry is gravely ill with lymphoedema among a slew of other ailments. Her condition is life-threatening. She is now hospitalised.”
Lymphoedema is a long-term (chronic) condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues.
A medical report by John Nyahunzvi dated March 29, 2022 indicated that amputation of her forearm is now necessary once she is deemed medically stable.
Mubaiwa was arrested in 2019, and she has since been denied the opportunity to seek medical attention outside Zimbabwe while her condition continues to deteriorate.
She has collapsed twice outside the courts, which have, however, not shown compassion towards her predicament.
“In contrast, Priscah Mupfumira a former government minister who was allegedly implicated in the looting of millions of State funds was given permission to not attend court because she said she was not mentally fit to attend court and was even granted permission to travel abroad on a business trip. The double standards are so glaring. This is such a glaring case of abuse of power against a mother and by extension, her innocent children,” Chibhamu said.
ROHR said the country’s health facilities were inadequate for Mubaiwa’s health needs, hence she should not be denied an opportunity to travel abroad to seek medical attention.
“This is despite the courts being advised by medical professionals in 2020 that failure to access specialist treatment would have dire consequences for Marry. The specialists’ advice was ignored.”
Chibhamu said the refusal to allow Marry to travel for treatment outside Zimbabwe was a violation of section 76 of the Constitution, which stipulates the right to healthcare.
“At some point, the law was rationally applied by the High Court and Marry was allowed to see her children, but her estranged husband Chiwenga appealed to the Supreme Court several times and irrationally ‘won’ against all odds.”
ROHR pleaded with Parliament to look into the issue as Mubaiwa was being denied her rights as a mother.
“The situation is coming across as if VP Chiwenga and the government are using Marry’s situation as a weapon against citizens, especially women.”
Last month, Mubaiwa was fined $60 000 after being convicted of lying that Chiwenga had consented to solemnise their marriage.
She is back in court on a charge of assaulting her domestic worker.
By Wilbert Mukori- Should Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) hold its party congress?
This question has preoccupied the nation for the last two weeks.
Professor Jonathan Moyo has argued the party congress is necessary. He is the former Zanu PF minister and chief strategist and propagandist until he was forced to leave the country in a huff because he was in the losing G40 faction in the November 2017 military coup. He was offered Chamisa advice from his exile fox-hole in Kenya and even offered to train and pay for the training of the party’s elections agents.
Professor has his own axe to grind, nothing would please him more than to see Mnangagwa and his Lactose Zanu PF factions booted out of office. If that was to happen, he will finally return home and may even be rewarded by the Chamisa government. So, on that score alone, one assures his advice is worth considering.
Hopewell Chinono has dismissed the call for CCC congress as a nuisance.
“They are trying to distract you from this with their congress nuisance!” commented Chinono on twitter,
“Inflation is rising, prices are out of control and ordinary people are groaning …”
CCC’s position, as of now at least, is the party will not hold any congress.
“We have no intention to hold Congresses. Our roadmap and path to power has no Congress in it. Congresses belongs to MDC, ZANU and other political formations. What if we are going to hold an Assembly, What if we going to a People’s Convention?” argued CCC deputy spokesperson, Ostallos Siziba.
The party has a “temporary mandate” and is fearful of infiltration from the Zanu PF regime; Siziba explained.
Temporary mandate from whom? When?
The bulk of the CCC leadership are a carryover from the MDC A that contested the 2018 elections with Nelson Chamisa as its presidential candidate. Yes, some of the leaders have remained with Douglas Mwonzora in MDC-T. Judging from the performance of CCC and MDC-T in last month’s by-elections, many of the MDC A members and leaders have joined CCC.
CCC, as a political party, was launched in January 2022 but it is naïve, to say the least, to pretend the party leaders are new faces. Indeed, most of the CCC candidates in the 26 March 2022 by elections were the same individuals who had contested under the MDC A ticket in 2018 and had lost the seat because of the recall.
To resist the call to hold congress in fear of infiltration is just a feeble excuse. Who is to say CCC is not infiltrated to saturation point already from its MDC A days?
The number one reason for holding the party congress is this is the only time the ordinary members have to exercise their right to a meaningful and democratic say in selecting the leaders, in party policies and setting the direction of the party. The ordinary people’s democratic right to a meaningful say in the party trumps all the feeble excuses to deny them that right.
CCC was launched as a citizens’, citizens with an s, party. So far, it is no exaggeration to call it a citizen Chamisa’s personal property because he alone seems to make all the key decisions. He alone has addressed most of the rallies with everyone else playing the supporting role of being seen but not heard!
If CCC is a democratic party that subscribe to the Abraham Lincoln notion of “government of the people, by the people and for the people” then it must also subscribe to giving povo a meaningful say in the governance of the party and, ultimately, of the country.
Political parties that deny their own party members a meaningful say, vote, in the party invariably deny ordinary the people a meaningful vote in national elections too. Parties that rig their own internal elections will blatantly rig national elections too! Democracy, like charity, begins at home!
In Zimbabwe every political party that garners 5% or more of the popular votes during a national election is entitled to aa corresponding cut of the Political Party Finance Act annual budgetary allocation. The Act should (one of these fine days will) be amended to ensure that only those parties with a proven track record of upholding the democratic values and practices, in house and at the national level, get public financial assistance.
It is an outrage that the Zimbabwe taxpayers should be bankrolling the thugs who are rigging elections and terrorizing them.
It would be foolish for the nation to be fighting to end Zanu PF dictatorship and autocracy only to replace it with CCC dictatorship and autocracy!
“CCC has no intention of holding congress!” You cannot be a people’s party, a democratic party, and yet deny the people a meaningful say in the governance of party.
Whilst we tirelessly work to improve the livelihoods of our people; the Western sponsored puppet opposition is hellbent on working to ensure that we fail! We are for the people, and they support the suffering of the people!
— Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri (@OppaMuchinguri) April 29, 2022
Thirteen years ago, in February 2009 to be more precise, the old Zimbabwe dollar buckled to its knees after taking a heavy bashing from the world’s worst ever recorded hyperinflation in the region of 500 billion percent year-on-year as of December 2008.
This is what one think-tank wrote about the horror of that era.
“Like a siren whose sweet song seduces ships’ captains, luring them and their charges to oblivion, the mania for printing money brought Zimbabwe’s economy within an inch of annihilation. Confounding money with wealth, ravaging incomes, destroying the basis of savings, enshrining the god of consumption, ruining creditors, impoverishing many, enriching a few, undermining exchange with other nations, fostering uncertainty, causing millions to flee and smothering productive forces, the government of Zimbabwe achieved, through the debauching of the currency, a feat of frightful devastation.”
Fast forward to April 2022, industry and business still very much alive to that yesteryear socio-economic carnage have sounded the siren of yet another possible economic bloodbath as the reincarnated Zimdollar faces catastrophe.
And the standoff between Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mangudya and one of the country’s main business representative body, the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), over the hapless Zimdollar shows that the chickens may, indeed, be coming home to roost.
While the 2009 situation is completely different, with official inflation currently at about 72%, the fundamentals are exactly the same and CZI and others have done well to sound the alarm bells while there is still time to steer the ship before it rams into the iceberg ahead.
Our printing machines have since churned out crisp new $100 bills, which are still light years away from the trillion dollar notes (with 12 zeroes) that we were printing by late 2008.
But CZI is absolutely right to warn that the “overvalued” currency is on the “brink of rejection in the face of exchange rate instability and increasing inflation”.
CZI’s many other real, and not imaged, fears have now been well articulated in the public domain, but the bottom line is our monetary authorities and government at large should not bury their heads in the sand on this very critical matter.
That CZI has issued this stark warning reflects a business community in despair. This is a business community that rose from the ashes of the 2009 carnage, which justifies their fright of the possibility of a repeat of the events of yesteryear. They are very much alive to the consequences of failing to act in time when it comes to economic matters.
Our current Zimdollar is rapidly losing value both officially (albeit controlled) and on the parallel market, where it is fast galloping towards the $400 mark to the US dollar. And this needs no second thoughts.
The consequences of not heeding the CZI call are perilous. The pain of 2009 is slowly being reignited and citizens are feeling it. The price of bread has gone up to $480 following yet another impromptu increase in fuel prices this week.
This means, to buy a loaf of bread, one needs to use five of the new crisp $100 note, which is the highest denomination so far. This needs no rocket science to realise that the chickens are coming home to roost.
By A Correspondent- A Johane Marange minor congregant who was allegedly raped by her uncle refused to go for a medical examination as it is against her church doctrine.
The matter came to light at Mutoko magistrates courts where the uncle who cannot be named to protect the victim appeared before magistrate Elijah Sibanda yesterday.
The state led by Nathan Mujuru alleges on April 24 the complainant met her aunt at Mutoko business centre who told her that she had hired a taxi to go with her to her house.
To the complainant’s surprise along the way her aunt ordered the taxi driver to divert the route and went to Tsiga village where the suspect resides.
Upon arrival at the suspect’s house, the complainant’s aunt told her that she had eloped to her uncle and the uncle raped her minutes later.
The complainant purported to be going to the toilet and rushed to the police station and filed a police station leading to the arrest of the complainant.
However, a medical report was not presented in court since the complainant refused to go to the hospital for medical examination.
By A Correspondent| After courting controversy over the choice of his coffin, mystery around socialite Obert Karombe’s death continued after he was buried in the middle of the night.
Karombe died in a road accident along Harare-Masvingo highway early this week.
His death resulted in so many stories of his alleged girlfriends coming out and speaking about their relationship with him.
There were also rumors that some of the slay queens he dated were chased away at his funeral.
Now the news of his midnight burial has continued to raise questions over the source of his wealth with some convinced he was into the dark world.
Government yesterday urged teachers to be patient while it addresses their salary demands as it cannot change their salaries each time schools open.
Schools will open next week on May 3, and already educators have threatened not to report for duty saying they are incapacitated because their salaries have been eroded by inflation. Teachers want government to revert to their pre-October 2018 salary of US$540.
Public Service minister Paul Mavima yesterday told NewsDay that teacher’s packages cannot be changed everytime schools open.
“We just changed the package for teachers, and we cannot change that package each time schools open,” Mavima said.
“We are getting into the second quarter, and we need them to be patient and go through the negotiation process. If there is any need for a review, it will be determined during the negotiation process.
“We must also realise that there was something special that we did for teachers including the $20 000 per child school fees package, which will support up to three children in government institutions.”
Mavima said government would be introducing other benefits such as building housing for the teachers.
“This will be institutional housing so that we don’t have problems and teachers have to be in very good decent housing. We are undertaking that aggressive programme to provide housing for teachers,” he said.
He, however, warned teachers who are planning to absent themselves when schools open next week that government will not hesitate to invoke the “no-work, no-pay” policy.
“That’s not acceptable, we can’t have a situation whereby each time we are about to open schools, teachers say they want to go on strike. It doesn’t work like that. There is a whole architecture of negotiations with the Public Service Commission and their federation, which meets government to discuss conditions of service for civil servants. So it’s not acceptable for teachers to hold the nation at ransom each time we open schools,” Mavima said.
Teachers, however, shot back at Mavima’s threats saying he will not force-march them to report for work next week because they are still incapacitated.
Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) president Obert Masaraure said the high cost of living had made it impossible for teachers to report for work.
“The Constitution provides for the right to strike. Mavima cannot criminalise the right to strike, and by the way, teachers never said they wanted to strike. They are on collective job action because they are incapacitated. The cost of living is high and has made it impossible for teachers and other workers to commit themselves to their duties,” Masaraure said.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said: “We have made our own submission; we are asking for a rescue package for teachers, they should honour their $20 000 fees promise as a matter of urgency.”

Sad to hear about the death of Mukoma Sunsleey Chamunorwa former editor of @FingazLive an affable character who groomed as many of us and a good friend even as we were junior reporters.
Chamunorwa who was renowned for his hard-hitting editorials and commentaries at the helm of the Financial Gazette, was suspended in 2007 over a story reportedly involving the business interests of a then powerful ruling ZANU PF official.
Chamunorwa was suspended by the then Chief Executive Officer Jacob Chisese following publication of a story linking top Zanu officials among them, the then Governor for Mashonaland East Province, Ray Kaukonde to lucrative security contracts at the former Harare International Airport.
By A Correspondent- Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa defended opposition aligned journalist Hopewell Chin’ono after reports came out that he had allegedly hijacked a goat breeding program that was meant to assist the community.
State media on Wednesday ran a story on how the government gave Chin’ono land and goats to start the boer goat project.
Said Mliswa on Twitter, “Having seen the concerted attacks against @daddyhope by state media and other organs my message to him is to be strong. It shows how big you have become @daddyhope. The same happened with me but the more I got arrested and harassed the more I got popular.
“In my years as a politician what I have learnt is that the public isn’t stupid as to be swayed by such contrived state propaganda. They can see through it and understand the reasons behind it all. Just stick with the truth and you will be vindicated. People can see through all the propaganda and machinations. You have to develop a thick skin and withstand it all. If I were you I would go for a constituency now because state media is already campaigning for you.
With your robust and articulate approach to national issues I can only imagine what Parliament would be like with you in it with the likes of Biti, Chinotimba, myself in it. It would be livelier and robust. God is the biggest judge @daddyhope & in due time will rule.”
Meanwhile Chin’ono says his village elders have advised him not to move the goats where they are.
He posted this message on Facebook on Wednesday:
Thank you all for your messages of support and solidarity. The clan elders have said the animals will not be moved from where they are, it is my ancestral land so nothing will be moved.
The regime can come and LOOT and destroy my rural home, we have no power to stop them! It is not our burden, but its own burden. If they do come to LOOT as they promised to do, a time for accountability will one day come.
It is clear that to continue investing in the project is pointless, that is the end of the project for now until we are under a safe environment to live in peace and develop our rural homes without ZANUPF harassment.
This is a clear example of how it is impossible to invest in Zimbabwe and still retain all your rights. A Chinese has more rights in Zimbabwe than myself. Again that is the regime’s burden!
More importantly, I will not be silenced. I shall not be silenced or intimidated from practicing ethical journalism by a rogue group of people. It is a price I am ready to die for, I would rather be killed than to live like a visitor in my own country and I will never run away from Zimbabwe!
Thank you all once again for your support and solidarity which came through messages, emails and phone calls. Please forgive me if I haven’t responded to your messages, they are many.
It’s also unfortunate to have state media marshalled against a private citizen because of national issues they have raised. This is abuse of power and offices. Respect of property rights is already an issue locally, why inflame it again?

3/8 Stop the auction system and go for full dollarisation – this will immediately remove distortions, multiple pricing, arbitrage, secure stability and save exporting companies from imminent collapse and help all businesses and economic agents to preserve capital.
4/8 In line with (3), we should immediately work on a de-dollarisation road map which is inclusive and evidence based and build on consensus as opposed to command economics and threatening businesses with statutory instruments.
5/8 Embrace SMART agriculture with a view to foster more active role of the market & government providing oversight to minimize distortions caused by agricultural subsidies. The commodity exchange should be used as an effective vehicle for funding & marketing of agricultural commodities.
6/8To address the economic challenges (such exchange rate spiral and inflation) caused by short term finance on infrastructure, gvt must use long long term finance such as diaspora bonds (eg Ethiopia-the Grand Renaissance Dam) and public private partnerships to fund infrastructure
7/8 Stop corruption and save US$2.8bn,being the US$1.8bn through illicit financial flows and US $1bn wasted in state owned enterprises and line ministries). This money, if saved, is a real game changer. Greedy, indiscipline and corruption stand as the biggest threat to the economy!
8/8 We must embrace a genuine social contract, which is inclusive to move forward as a nation. Also Expedite a Pre-Election Pact on elections & reforms, constitutionalism and respect of human rights so we restore our integrity in the family of nations. Genuine dialogue is key!

By- Zanu PF Youth League has snubbed the late former President Robert Mugabe’s son, Robert Jnr in its structures.
There were reports that Robert Jnr wanted to contest in the Zanu PF Youth League top executive election due next month.
Yesterday the party released the names of 40 Youth League members who sailed through at the just-ended provincial elective nominations and Robert Jnr’s name was not there.
Four members from each province were nominated ahead of the Youth League’s 7th elective conference set for May this year. The last elective conference was held in 2014.
Positions to be contested are for Youth League deputy secretary and below, and all contestants should be 35-years-old and below. President Mnangagwa will appoint the Youth League secretary. The elections were held successfully under the supervision of the commissariat department. Zanu PF acting deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Tendai Chirau announced the results saying those elected should commit themselves to serve the party and represent the interest of the youth.
By-The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party has said that they support what the leader of South Africa’s biggest opposition political party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema said this week.
Malema on his country’s Freedom day challenged Zimbabweans in South Africa to go home and vote in 2023 harmonised elections in order to remove Zanu PF from power.
Malema, who has always been vocal against xenophobia and anti-migrant sentiments targeting Africans, said Zimbabweans had a civic duty to participate in their elections so that they deliver a progressive government to change their fortunes.
Speaking at a Freedom Day celebrations event in Tshwane Wednesday, the EFF leader assured Zimbabweans the country would always provide a home to them but pleaded for them to go back to Zimbabwe and vote for change. “Zanu PF has destroyed what was a promising land for Zimbabwe and the current leader of Zimbabwe (Emmerson Mnangagwa) is as clueless as the South African leader (Cyril Ramaphosa). They are the same like they are twins. So, to the people of Zimbabwe, we want to make a plea, please when you are here, don’t worry, you are at home but when there are elections at home go there in your numbers and vote,” he called out. “Remove that nonsense that is happening in Zimbabwe and come back if you want to come back. You cannot just fold your hands. The people of Zimbabwe must rise here in South Africa and go to vote for a proper government in Zimbabwe.” Malema emphasised that solving the Zimbabwe crisis required civic collective action. “Let’s help each other so that there is a proper government in Zimbabwe and will bring a proper government in South Africa, we become one big happy family,” he said to applause. “Let’s not be comfortable and think no, ‘all is well, as long as we are in South Africa.’” He urged Zimbabweans to remember that voting was their part in delivering a better Zimbabwe. “Let’s not forget that as Zimbabweans we have a duty at home to deliver a progressive government that will respect human rights, that will make sure the economy of Zimbabwe grows, make sure it defeats poverty and unemployment,” Malema said. “A progressive and developing Zimbabwe is a solution to the problems of South Africa so we want to help Africans who are helping themselves. The firebrand leader argued that once South Africans are done with xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals, such as Nigerians and Zimbabweans, their anger will turn to small tribes within the country such as the Shangaan people. He said once foreign nationals are out of South Africa, depending on the province, locals would start blaming other tribes for the unemployment crisis. Malema used the example of telling Zulu people to go back to KwaZulu Natal and Xhosa people to return to the Eastern Cape, noting that poverty, hunger and inequality would remain, as forcing foreign nationals out of the country will not solve the country’s unemployment crisis. The party’s Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tendai Chirau announced the results this afternoon.
The Mnangagwa twins’ front man, and tenderpreneur, Delish Nguwaya has promised the nation saying his Pomona plant company will guarantee electricity supply.
Delish Nguwaya standing left to Emmerson Mnangagwa in another tender deal reached in 2020
Nguwaya’s Geogenix BV company which had been stalled, got kicked off into operation days after the sudden death of the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency Director, Douglas Munatsi, who was bombed and found tortured in his flat last year.
His comments come 3 decades after the twins’ father Emmerson Mnangagwa destroyed the Harare City Council Electritity Supply company by nationalising it.
The Geogenix BV country representative Delish Nguwaya, said this as he thanked the Government for creating a conducive environment for attracting international investors into the energy sector especially at a time when power shortages have become a daily challenge.
“We hope to play our part in alleviating this problem. The establishment of the Pomona plant will guarantee availability of electricity, create employment, boost economic growth, help in transfer bill in purchasing power (electricity) from outside the country and compliment other independent power producers,” said Mr Nguwaya.
By Patrick Guramatunhu | Zimbabwe is a failed state. 42 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and crass lawlessness has earned the country the pariah state label and with it economic ruin.
If you say we should have powers to make our own rules and regulations, you have to accept and admit that currently we don't have those powers. So if you then say to me, the electoral commission is not independent because it can't make its own rules and regulations – @ZECzimpic.twitter.com/RhXs76kful
The country’s basic services such as education and health care have all but collapsed after decades of being starved of funds. Unemployment has soared to dizzying heights of 90% and millions of people now live in abject poverty.
The poor’s economic situation is both unjustified and unsustainable and, it is not surprising that the impoverished masses are becoming increasingly restless and desperate for change. And yet, as long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state, there will be no meaningful change. None!
Zimbabwe’s corrupt and tyrannical ruling elite and their cronies have grown filth rich. The gap between the rich ruling elite and the impoverished masses has grown into a chasm! Ironically, the ruling elite are now so frightened of this chasm giving up power, the prerequisite for ending the pariah state, is now simply unthinkable.
The need masses’ need for meaningful change to end their suffering is the unstoppable force.
The ruling elite’s resolute determination to resist change to save themselves falling down the chasm and join the impoverish masses is the immovable object.
“We fought for our land, we fought for our sovereignty. No Imperialist-backed puppet opposition party shall ever take away what we fought for. Never.” Stated Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Zanu PF has always resorted to all manner of antics, threats and even cold blooded murder to deny the people of Zimbabwe their right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and impose the de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship.
The party is well aware of the country’s worsening economic meltdown and the growing demand for meaningful change. And since Zanu PF cannot win free, fair and credible elections the party is labelling the opposition “imperialist-backed puppets” to justify rigging the elections. Anything Zanu PF does to stop puppets getting into power and to preserve the nation’s sovereignty is wholly justified.
“Chidembo kana choda kuramba mukadzi, chinoshereketa!” (When the honey badger wants to divorce the wife, it will perform all manner of antics!) so goes the Shona adage!
The truth is Zimbabweans have been pushed into a tight a corner, they are not just sick and tired of these Zanu PF antics; the nation’s survival is now at stake. Pass rate in the rural school have dropped to 3% or less, 50% of the population now lives in abject poverty, etc. no nation can sustain these social and economic conditions and survive much less thrive.
Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU designed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and restore the individual freedoms and rights including the right to free elections and even the right to life. Sadly, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai and his MDC friends who were tasked to implement the reforms sold out and failed to implement even one reform.
Worse still, MDC/CCC leaders have stubbornly insisted on participating in flawed elections for the sake of the few gravy train seats Zanu PF has been giving away as bait only to give Zanu PF legitimacy.
The party used violence, failed to produce a verified voters’ roll, etc. in the recent 26 March 2022 by elections – a precursor of worse to come. Zanu PF is set to rig the 2023 elections. It really is insane to keep participating in flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy.
“All smart Zimbabweans should rally behind Zanu PF and our visionary leader President Mnangagwa. Our country is achieving rapid socio-economic transformation underpinned by sound and people-oriented policies. We are very lucky to have a listening and peace-loving President,” said the defence minister.
Rubbish! Zanu PF’s electoral success has been thanks to the regime’s carte blanche powers to rig elections and to the opposition who have participated in the flawed process giving the party cover and legitimacy.
If Zimbabweans were smart, then they should know by now that MDC/CCC have long given up the fight for democratic changes, reforms, and free and fair elections. They should know by now that the immovable object to meaning pollical change in Zimbabwe is not just Zanu PF but MDC/CCC too.
“No puppet opposition will rule Zimbabwe!” How ironic that this Zanu PF dictatorial antic is still significant today only because of the opposition MDC/CCC antiquated foolishness and greed! Sadly, it is the impoverished millions on the coal face of the failed state who are paying dearly for it all. –

By-Police in Binga have announced the discovery of two men who were found dead with struggle marks near Junamina Primary School in Binga on Wednesday.
The unidentified had been dumped in a pit near the school grounds.
“The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding two murder cases in which the bodies of two men were found dumped in a pit near the school grounds at Junamina Primary School, Binga, on 27/04/22.
“Struggle marks and a trail of bloodstains that led to the pit were observed at the crime scene,” police said on their official Twitter account. Meanwhile, police have arrested a Nkayi man for murder. “In another case, on 27/04/22, Police in Nkayi arrested Qubekhani Nyathi (42) in connection with a murder case in which he fatally assaulted Mirriam Ncube (69) at Mbangiso Village in Singwangombe area,” said the police.
By- A 27-year-old man who led a gang of seven others on a spree of armed robberies around Beitbridge district has been jailed for 50 years by a local regional court.
Conscious Gumbo of Mawale village under Chief Matibe was convicted on five counts of armed robbery when he appeared before Mr Innocent Bepura wednesday.
The accused and his accomplices used firearms, machetes, and knobkerries to subdue their victims mainly motorists.
His accomplices, Handson Tawanda Mhlanga (26), Philemon Chezani (24), and Brian Mudau (26) were each slapped with 12 years’ imprisonment, while one Thembani Ncube (20) was jailed for 20 years.
Two others, Life Shumba (30) and Nyashadzashe Shoko (20) were acquitted after a full trial. A warrant of arrest was also issued against a 17-year-old juvenile who disappeared after securing bail. All the accused persons are from the Beitbridge district. Prosecuting Mr Cloudios Karinga said the gang along with two others still at large and acting in common purpose went on an armed robbery spree between 2020 and last year targeting motorists.
He said the gang pounced on the victims around Beitbridge town and the major highway leading to Masvingo. The court heard that in one of the incidents, the accused persons attacked a motorist, Simon Zvarivadza on December 24, 2020, at the Joko area 60km along the Beitbridge to Masvingo road. Armed with machetes, an unknown firearm and knobkerries, they took cash, USD300, two cellphones, and various groceries from a man they saw relieving himself by the roadside. Mr Karinga said the men drove to Mawale where they shared the loot and later burnt the vehicle after discovering that it had a tracking device. He said on February 1 last year, using the same method, Gumbo and crew attacked Musa Juwandu and stole US$600, a Huawei Y6 and Huawei Y7 cellphone both worth R5000 and went away. The state said on February 14 2021 the gang robbed one Carlos Zvidza of a Toyota corolla, R750, and a cellphone in Beitbridge town. They had found the man in his vehicle with his girlfriend.
The prosecutor added that the accused continued with the reign of terror and attacked four more people using the same method and stole money, cellphones, and vehicles they would later dump. They ran out of luck when Gumbo was arrested on July 3 for following thorough police investigations, and he later led the police to the rest of the gang members.
The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (Zesn) has described as shocking some of the questions being asked by Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStats) enumerators.
Census in motion
The country is currently undertaking the 2022 population and housing census which will run up to tomorrow.
Citizens have been complaining that they are being asked strange questions by census enumerators such as the type of floor polish they use, their fertility status and other questions which they believe are irrelevant.
Speaking during a virtual discussion on enhancing women’s capacities to take up political positions, a Zesn official Prisca Dube said: “The enumerators are asking questions about relatives in the diaspora and what they are doing there — their jobs. Civil society organisations never went to ZimStats to learn about the nature of questions that people will be asked in order to educate them. The census questions have many other variables besides being counted. People are saying questions about whether someone had a still-born baby are shocking.”
ZimStats public relations officer Roland Chiriga, however, defended the questions, saying they were necessary.
“Questions about the type of floor polish used show how advanced the country is as they pertain to the type of flooring used. All responses then show us whether we are a developed country (or not). Questions about one’s fertility are not weird as we want to know about the growth rate of the population, and whether we have more births than deaths in the country. This helps the Registrar-General’s Office to know the number of birth and death certificates needed,” Chiringa said.–Newsday
Former SuperSport United head coach, Kaitano Tembo is open to coaching the Warriors if he is offered the job.
The 51-year-old Zimbabwean was fired by Matsatsantsa A Pitori following a string of poor results.
Reports suggest that some Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs are interested in Tembo’s services.
The Citizen reported a source close to Tembo’s camp as saying the former Zimbabwe international has no desire to coach a club in the Zimbabwean premiership. Said the source:
The standard of the Premier Soccer League is very high and it would be taking a step back if Tembo goes to Zimbabwe.
The only offer we might entertain is if the job is that of being the head coach of the Zimbabwean national team.
The Warriors have no coach at the moment after Norman Mapeza’s contract expired at the end of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon early this year.
By- Zanu PF ministers are suspected to have stolen over US$1 Million fundraised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa towards the National Soccer team players’ welfare in Cairo.
A letter to Sports minister Kirsty Coventry by legislator Omega Sibanda, which has been leaked to NewsDay Sport, shows that at least US$1.2 million of the US$1.5m raised, could not be accounted for.
This comes after the country’s sports regulator, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the Zifa executive committee led by Felton Kamambo over allegations of misappropriation of public funds and sweeping under the carpet allegations of sexual harassment of female referees. They are also accused of refusing to account for the funds that the association received for the 2019 Afcon finals. Kamambo, who has had his mandate and that of two others revoked over the issue, refutes the allegations. The letter was written on April 19, four days before Saturday’s emergency general meeting (EGM) which booted out Kamambo. Sibanda wrote: The only public funds that remain not acquitted are those fundraised with the help of HE (His Excellency) President Mnangagwa in 2019 for the Egypt Afcon. Over US$1 500 000 was raised from that and only US$216 000 according to the Zifa Afcon acquittal (see annexure M, N, O of the Zifa untold story document for proof of this acquittal even that was given to the SRC at the time by Zifa) was paid by the committee directly to players and not through Zifa accounts. This is where, in my view, where you should ask the SRC or the (fundraising) committee where the rest of the money, more than US$1.3 million went. It is of public importance that such information be shared because that remains the only outstanding unacquitted public funds channelled to football (by the government) but such was not under Zifa, but a committee established and composed of several ministers. If the public gets wind of such, it will be damaging to the ministry and not to Zifa. The same Zifa Board acting out of maturity that is now being publicly attacked, chose to keep quiet realising those that make up the committee and how such might have been abused by certain elements for political expediency. To this extent you have never heard them defending themselves that maybe SRC allegations of public funds must be directed to Hon Kazembe’s committee fearing the damage such will bring to senior government officials. Your SRC seems, however, eager to force this board’s hand to divulge such details. The question is who is this SRC serving? Are they really serving the government and HE (His Excellency)’s interests or something else? Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe led the fundraising committee and flew to Egypt where he personally handed the money to players. Sibanda warned Coventry that: i). she could have been misled by SRC on the reasons and the procedure when suspending the Zifa board. ii). if she fails to handle this ZIFA wrangle, she risks tarnishing her image and that of the ruling Zanu PF party. Last week, Coventry appeared before a Parliamentary Committee on Sports where she gave her blessing to Kamambo’s suspension. She also said the government has been financially supporting Kamambo’s board since he took office. Sibanda disputes the allegations saying that he saw documentation and audited accounts of Zifa which show that ZIFA under Kamambo only received US$53 000 from the government in 2019 which it fully acquitted at the time and the entire amount was paid to players.
Sibanda said the Zifa EGM that was held at the weekend against Fifa’s advice and the association’s statutes, has no force.

Barcelona have confirmed that the club will move to a different home venue for one year to allow redevelopment at Nou Camp.
The planned works will begin in June this year after receiving a permit from the Barcelona City Council to start work. The project will involve expansion of the sitting capacity from 99,000 to 110,000 spectators and refurbishment of the club store and museum at the stadium.
The first stage will focus on the first and second tier, technology, the environs of the stadium, and exterior urbanisation.
The demolition of the third tier will happen in 2023 after the first stage to ensure that the stadium can operate at virtually full capacity next season.
During the 2023-24 season, after the demolition, Barca will play their games at 61,000 capacity Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. The municipal facility hosted the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Summer Olympics and was home to Barcelona’s cross town rival Espanyol for several years.
In the 2024/25 season, work will continue in the Camp Nou, but games can also be played there, albeit with the capacity reduced by approximately 50%. The work would be completed during the 2025/26 season.
The Camp Nou redevelopment is expected to cost Barca €1.5bn ($1.74bn) and the club is in talks with investment bank Goldman Sachs to finance the project. – Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Police in Harare Metropolitan Province on Wednesday, 27 April launched an operation targeting pirate taxis and illegal kombis (mushikashika) and illegal vendors.
The operation will also target unregistered cars, street kids controlling traffic and vendors at intersections.
In a statement, Harare Province Deputy Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova said:
The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Harare Province, will conduct an operation to restore sanity and decongest the Harare Central Business District and greater Harare.
The operation will include our stakeholders, including ZINARA, VID, Ruwa Local Board, Chitungwiza Town Council, Epworth Local Board, Harare City Council and the Department of Social Welfare.
The operation will be conducted in all Harare Police districts.
Asst Insp Dzvova said Mushikashika vehicles are contributing to congestion during peak hours in Harare’s central business district. He said:
As Harare Province, we are worried about the congestion during peak hours, and a number of criminal cases emanating from these mushikashikas, and non-ZUPCO commuter omnibuses and buses.
He also warned members of the public against boarding Mushikashika as they may fall prey to robbers. Said Asst Insp Dzvova:
A number of robberies, rape and theft cases have occurred in which victims fall prey to these illegal transporters who misrepresent themselves as transporters, through mushikashika.
We have declared war against these mushikashikas.
We will continuously impound the mushikashika and arrest the drivers. We, hereby, appeal to commuters to avoid mushikashika. Only ZUPCO buses and omnibuses are allowed to operate.
Those with private vehicles are encouraged and warned against picking up strangers as passengers as they may end up being robbed of their motor vehicles.

The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator to Zimbabwe, Edward Kallon, has urged the Government to create a conducive environment that allows Zimbabweans who have emigrated to return home and contribute to the development of the country.
Kallon also implored western countries to remove targeted sanctions that they imposed on Zimbabwe at the turn of the millennium.
Kallon made the remarks while speaking at a media briefing in Bulawayo on Tuesday 26 April on the backdrop of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, celebrated annually on April 24.
He said Zimbabwe should address human rights abuses and ensure free fair credible elections, among other things. Said Kallon:
I don’t think any Zimbabwean wants to go to another country and I would end by also encouraging the government to make sure they have an enabling environment facilitated for Zimbabweans to come back and rebuild this beautiful country.
You have the human resources, brilliant Zimbabweans who have common interests and natural endowment.
You need foreign direct investment but it is not going to come in the volumes required to push this country forward if sanctions are in place.
That’s why we are saying review sanctions. We call on the government to address human rights abuses, ensure free fair credible elections, open up civic space and encourage civic participation.
I’m sure Zimbabwe will be the Zimbabwe it used to be, a country so strategic with an endowment that it can make its people live a very, very comfortable life.
In response, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana deplored xenophobia, saying Zimbabwe is ready to assist its nationals in South Africa. Said Mangwana:
It’s really sad (that) we at this stage of African solidarity, unity, multilateral approach and borderlessness, I would say the affairs and situation where Africans are discriminated against by Africans.
It’s tragic that these xenophobia sentiments are being whipped and in some cases politicians.
Should there be any of our nationals who want any other type of support they should approach our embassy in South Africa and they will arrange to give the support that is needed.

World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.
WHO works with countries across the globe to raise awareness of the value of vaccines and immunization and ensures that governments obtain the necessary guidance and technical support to implement high-quality immunization programmes. The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more people – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.
This World Immunization Week 2022 campaign page will be updated regularly in the lead up to and during World Immunization Week.
A Long Life for All is not a promise, it’s an ambition.
Because everyone deserves a chance at a fulfilling life. One where we’re free to pursue happiness. And look back without wondering “What if?”.
Vaccines have been indiscriminately saving lives since 1796. The first Smallpox immunization was a fight back against disease.
For the first time, it gave everyone a chance. And hundreds of vaccines later, Across two and a quarter centuries. Billions of people have lived longer lives. Grown up to become firefighters. Doctors. Musicians. Fathers. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. Vaccines might not get credit for that first kiss. That winning goal. That special day. That final hug. But their worth isn’t just measured in doses given. It’s in minutes given back. And lives prolonged.
Vaccines provide opportunity and hope for all of us to enjoy a more fulfilling life. And that’s something we should all be fighting for. Vaccines, in the pursuit of a long life well lived.
By- Zanu PF ministers could have looted over a million dollars that were fundraised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa towards the National Soccer team players’ welfare in Cairo.
By-Leader of South Africa’s biggest opposition political party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema has challenged Zimbabweans in South Africa to go home and vote in 2023 harmonised elections in order to remove Zanu PF from power.
By- The Adv Maselela Teffo, who was arrested inside the court has accused the Police Minister Bheki Cele of causing his arrest.
Adv Teffo is representing four of the five accused in the Senzo Meyiwa case.
Teffo was arrested by police inside the high court in Pretoria in full view of journalists who took pictures and footage of the drama. After lunch time, his instructing attorney who only wanted to be identified as TT Thobane alerted the court that he had received strange calls that made him fear for his life. Thobane told the court that he had information about a pending arrest of his senior. Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela then adjourned the court proceedings, postponing the matter to May 30. But just minutes after the judge left, an officer who was not in uniform arrived and alerted Teffo about his arrest. Adv Zandile Mshololo for accused number five in the matter, said no one knew why Teffo was being arrested. “The arresting officer is telling us that it is for failure to appear in court. But we do not know what matter is he being arrested for,” Mshololo said. Police handcuffed Teffo right in the courtroom where he had spent the better part of the day drilling Sgt Thabo Mosia about what he found on the crime scene in the early hours of the morning after Meyiwa had been arrested.
Teffo is expected to be taken to the Hillbrow police station before his court appearance. “It is because I’m doing Senzo’s case,” Teffo said as he was taken down to the cells. Teffo has been the centre of attention since Meyiwa trial began. His questioning has been criticised by the state and Maumela. On Thursday, Maumela reprimanded him together with prosecutor George Baloyi about the “problematic” manner in which the trial has gone so far.
By- A Marondera woman has appeared in court for allegedly selling Zimbabwean women into slavery in Oman.
Several women are reportedly living a nightmare in Oman after they were promised a life-changing job opportunity in the United Arab Emirates with fully paid flights and visas to Dubai, its most modern capital.
Destination Dubai turned out to be Oman, the rich emirates’ south-east neighbour, and the lucrative jobs promised turned into a life of slavery and exploitation. Farisisai Mupeti, of Rusike Phase 3 in Marondera, briefly appeared before Harare Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda on 22 April and was not asked to plead. Mupeti was remanded in custody to June 1 and advised to apply to the High Court for bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority alleged that sometime in November 2021, Mupeti made false representations to one Mirriam Zihumo acting in connivance with one Lincell Allimonis, who is still at large and is believed to be in Oman. The prosecution said: Her accomplice Allimos went on to send Zihumo air tickets and a VISA Zihumo first knew something was wrong when her air tickets, written in Arabic, showed the destination as Oman, and not Dubai. Mupeti, it is alleged, processed a fake medical examination report and polymerase chain reaction test for Zihumo. When Zihumo landed in Oman, her apprehension only heightened when her passport was taken away by men acting in connivance with Mupeti, the charges say. She was “sold” to a man who would be her “employer.” The prosecution added: She was denied food, worked around the clock, and was kept indoors for three months. Zihumo only managed to return home after lying to the man holding her that she had a wedding planned in Zimbabwe and that her family had bought her the tickets. Mupeti allegedly used the same trick on Isabel Mushoriwa who was subjected to abuse for three weeks and only escaped after lying that her mother had died. Alleged the prosecution: She even stated that if she failed to attend her mother’s burial in Zimbabwe, she will suffer from a mental illness. The “employer” allegedly demanded to see the burial order before releasing her. He also wanted her family to buy a return ticket, which they did to secure her freedom. Mupeti is charged with violating the Trafficking in Persons Act.
On Tuesday, Zimbabwe’s cabinet approved the principles of the Trafficking in Persons (Amendment) Bill which will offer more support to victims of trafficking by obligating the state to repatriate them and also provide counselling services.

Tinashe Sambiri| Citizens’ Coalition For Change says in 2023 citizens will vote out poverty and decades of suffering under the Zanu PF regime.
The World Bank has reported that there is extreme poverty in Zimbabwe.
Economic emancipation is a priority, according to CCC.
“According to the World Bank, there’s an extreme poverty in Zimbabwe, reaching 49% in 2020.
The 2023 election presents an opportunity for Zimbabwe to turn into a new leaf from the dark ages of uncertainty & despair to a new dawn of hope, certainty & poverty eradication.
Many Zimbabwean families are trapped in an endless cycle of poverty & even white-collar jobs, once the envy of many, are not an exception.
A CCC govt pledges to fulfil the unfinished agenda of the liberation struggle, in particular, the economic emancipation of our people,” the party said in a statement.

Mino Raiola’s assistant has denied that the football agent has died after widespread reports in Italy claimed he had passed away.
Raiola, 54, has been unwell for several months and is battling a lung disease.
Various news outlets in Italy claimed Raiola had died on Thursday afternoon and Real Madrid’s official Twitter account expressed their condolences to his friends and family.
But Raiola’s colleague and friend Jose Fortes Rodriguez says he has not died, telling NOS: ‘He’s in a bad position, but he hasn’t died.’
By Dr Masimba Mavaza |Julius Malema this week came out on eNCA TV news calling for Zimbabweans to go back to Zimbabwe and vote the government of Emmerson Mnangagwa out. He had earlier called President Mnangagwa a sell out and urged him to step down. Malema’s interest in Zimbabwe’s elections is a result of his intimate association with the former ZANU PF political Commissar Saviour Tyson Kasukuwere. He is taking instructions from Kasukuwere thinking he has a good chance to be the next President. Malema now lives and believes in a lie, of course peddled by Tyson. It is not a secret that Kasukuwere and Malema always meet in their promiscuous adventures as both are known to be failures when it comes to control the items below the belt. Both Tyson and Malema are frequent visitors of Malema’s penthouse in Sandton.
But why is Malema behaving like this? In most cases Malema is living his name. In Zulu and Ndebele ” Malema” is the word for “Marema” in Shona. This does not mean a person suffering from mental health illness but means a person of crazy and mad behaviour who cannot order his faculties well in relating to others.
Malema has wandered way offline in his spits. He suffers from a mental disorder which makes him like he is the referee.
Malema is the man who has failed to put his mouth where his mind is. He has the mind of a fly and fame of an elephant.
It is a shame that Malema rushed to comment before he understands what is happening. He has a loose mouth and needs some mouthwash to cleanse his unguided speech. It is a shame that such brilliance in Malema has a lunatic as a master.
Mnangagwa can never be called a traitor. He has actually become a double hero since he championed land invasion and compensation. Malema in his speech labelled the Zimbabwean government malicious and nonsensical.
After his address pertaining to the Zimbabweans in South Africa and the issue of voting, one cannot help thinking that whosoever gave Malema that name had prophesied his insane remarks about the Hon president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, ED.
Mr Malema is an opposition leader in SA , not in Zimbabwe or Africa, for that matter. His self-styled posture as a Pan- African Opposition leader is as delusional as his undiplomatic and obscene interference in internal affairs of another sovereign state. His actions are pervasive and totally uncalled for.
Malema starts well by encouraging Zimbabweans to go home and vote. His lunacy is exposed when he starts calling the rule of Cde Mnangagwa, “nonsense.”
Malema should understand that
voting issues are a complex internal and constitutional matter. Presently, those Zimbabweans in the diaspora have no right to vote from outside the borders, save for those on external duties. Mr Malema must know that this position can only be changed by Zimbabweans not by an over-exuberant howling foreign opposition leader.
In so far as Mr Malema is urging Zimbabweans in SA to return to vote in their country, he is behaving like a crazy man hiring a locksmith to open a door that stands ajar. In his understanding, who is stopping these citizens to return?
Mr Malema is afflicted of the fallacious thinking and weird assumption that Zimbabweans in the disspora in voting will vote against the government and for the opposition. What nonsense is that? Zimbabweans in the Diaspora are more patriotic than their counterparts at home. Being in the diaspora one begins to appreciate his country. It is only when you are abroad that the environment teaches you to love your nation.
These Zimbabweans are part of a big family back home. It is more logical to think that the voting pattern at home will find reflection in the diaspora. Zanu PF has been winning elections for decades and that is the pattern at home. There is no reason to surmise that the same voters will cross a stream into SA and then change political allegiance.
What really makes Malema suddenly pretend that he is a champion for Zimbabweans? A number of factors:
Malema has really failed to make significant inroads in his own country. While the ANC has lost seats in recent elections, Malema ‘s party has not gained significantly. This is because whatever the ANC has lost, that has been shared between the EFF and the other opposition party, the DA.
Malema can sense that his party is not likely to wrestle power from the ANC in the next elections. As a consequence of this painful realisation, Mr Malema lashes out, boils like an unserviced engine and his mouth blows like a leaky exhaust pipe. Malema has been promised great opportunities in Zimbabwe should Kasukuwere become the president. Tyson still breeds those hallucinations where he will come to be a president of Zimbabwe. That day will never come and Malema should wake up and smell coffee.
Mr Malema must concentrate on coming up with a cogent programme of attracting his own countymen as voters in SA. Imbecile speeches and roudy behaviour in Parliament all these years have not had any electorial impact at all. In his cluelessness Mr Malema is now lashing out at president ED much the same way a failing and abysmal footballer who is failing to mark his opponent would then pick the ball and through it assaultingly at innocent spectators. Grow up man.
Another factor in Malema’s mind is clearly the challenges in his own country. A man and opposition leader devoid of ideas to improve his country casts his eyes like a voyeur at a neighbourhood ‘s bedroom.
It may well be that Mr Malema is salivating when he sees some of the illegal immigrants in SA and hallucinate that one day they will vote in his country and vote for him, hence his statement that they should go back to Zimbabwe to vote and “come back.”
If Mr Malema wants to do something meaningful for Zimbabweans in his country, he must join them in the fight for dignity in that country: fight for the right to life of the Zimbabweans who are being burnt alive.
He must address his compatriots to eradicate xenophobia, prejudice and vigilantism. He must seriously engage the govt of SA and all stakeholders to find a solution to the most pressing need of the Zimbabweans in SA, which is the need for protection.
Therefore for Malema to ignore the single most pressing issue of protection of life of the Zimbabweans in SA and to talk nonsensically as he did was not just a cynical diversion but an insult to Zimbabweans in his country and all over the world.
Malema gets it wrong when he says the Zimbabweans must go back home and remove the ZANU PF government. This thinking is flawed and tainted with insults which are not called for.
Zimbabwe is not reneging on the gains of independence.
Zimbabweans are not against their government. It is ZANU PF which made Zimbabweans to pick up arms and go to a war. The wars for our freedom were to free the blacks and whites alike. It was not a racist war. The whites were allowed to stay in the great reconciliations championed by Mugabe and Mnangagwa.
Zimbabwe has been riddled by sanctions and Malema could not see that. The Zimbabweans in Diaspora are not all against ZANU PF. So Malema must grow up and respect his neighbours. He has no right whatsoever to issue campaign statements against ZANU PF.
The EFF must take their commander, Malema for a mental check up.
By A Correspondent- Activist Robson Chere has opened up on his abduction ordeal at the hands of state security agents.
He said:
27 April remains a bad day for me. 3 years ago (in 2019) I was abducted together with Jessica Dury, Munyaradzi Ndawana and Precious Ndlovu in Greystone Park by 4 men in plain clothes.
They used a white Toyota Rav 4 Reg # ADL 7066. Yesterday (27 April 2022) I was abducted by 2 men in plain clothes. They used a white Nissan NP 300 Reg # ABT 7760. I was later handed over to the police at Guruve Central where I was illegally detained for hours.
This regime has no shame. No amount of abductions, torture or arrests can deter us. Much thanks for the solidarity and support, the pressure that you put contributed to my release.
By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has said he is impressed by the volumes of locally-produced goods showcased at this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
He made the remarks as he officially opened the ZITF International Business Conference before he toured various stands where he was impressed by the increase in locally-produced products at the exhibition. He said:
What was more interesting is that there is no place that has been left empty. In the past years you would find some places empty. The most interesting part is that we are now on 75 percent of locally produced goods. This means that we are growing and selling Zimbabwe. Yes we can buy but what is more important is that we are producing.
We have realised that the ZITF is a bridging gap between us companies and the public. People come and get to appreciate the works that we are doing and from there it is a positive move as people will understand that something is being done in the country.
ZITF is a platform to exhibit and learn at the same time we have managed to improve from last year’s exhibition as we saw what was in the market. We are confident that we will grow our client and use ZITF as a bridge to other investment opportunities from delegates that we have had discussions with.
Small to medium enterprises say the engagements undertaken at the ongoing trade showcase will help them broaden their clientele base.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the ZITF on Friday.
By A Correspondent- The Mayor of Bulawayo Solomon Madlala Mguni has sent his condolence message mourning the death of the award winning comedian Clive Chigubhu who succumbed to cancer.

Mguni added that Bulawayo’s creative industry is poorer after the death of Chigubu.

Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga yesterday pleaded with the business community to practise “ethical business ethos” and desist from unjustified price hikes.
Officially opening the international business conference, which is running concurrently with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), yesterday Chiwenga blasted businesses saying they were engaging in bad business practices.
“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has moved to curtail resurgent price increases in the economy and stabilise the volatile parallel market exchange rate through increasing interest rates. These measures demonstrate government’s desire to stem further price increases whose primary driver is speculative borrowing leading to the depreciation of the local currency and fuelling price hikes,” Chiwenga said.
“Similarly, I want to implore the business community to complement government efforts by practising ethical business ethos and desist from unjustified price increases. Let us act in the proper manner and do business in the correct manner,” he said.
Last week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa blamed businesses for the price hikes, accusing them of sabotaging the economy.
Prices of basic goods and commodities have spiralled this month, with bread now costing $480 per loaf and a 10kg bag of mealie-meal going for $1 300.
The country’s inflation on Tuesday also spiked upwards to 96,4% up from 72% in March, raising fears of a possible return to hyperinflation.
Turning to the issue of roads, Chiwenga said government was pleased with the progress made on the Beitbridge-Harare-Chirundu Highway, adding that they were confident that it would be completed by December 2022.
“On the aviation sector, progress has been made on the refurbishment of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, which is expected to increase the airport’s holding capacity to six million people per annum.
“Government is also dedicated to ensure continued availability of electricity for industry so that the country is self-sufficient and narrow the demand-supply gap, minimise power imports and conserve foreign currency,” he said.
Chiwenga said Zimbabwe and Mozambique were pushing for the implementation of agreed projects, including the setting up of one-stop border posts at Forbes-Machipanda and Nyamapanda-Cuchamano.
By Knowledge Hakata| With less than a year and two months before Zimbabwe holds its highly anticipated 2023 Presidential elections, President Mnangagwa has of late turned for support from self-styled Prophets and Papa’s in the much flocked charismatic churches in Zimbabwe. The late former President and African strongman Robert Mugabe was usually known for flocking the white garments churches such as Mwazha Sect, Johanne Marange, Mugodhi and he could as well go as far as Zaoga and ZCC. Politically Zanu PF has managed to keep its political muscles intact through dishing large pieces of land to these denominations and most of their leaders have proclaimed their allegiance to Zanu Pf especially the likes of Ezekiel Guti, Nehemiah Mutendi, Ndanga, Wutaunashe, the Noah Taguta just to name a few.
Makandiwa was quoted saying “It is never the responsibility of the government to create jobs for you”. The recent endorsement of Mnangagwa by Makandiwa became the final nail on all the famous pastors and preachers in Zimbabwe on which how Zanu Pf has managed to capture all of them.
However Zimbabweans should not lose sleep about how all these prophets are endorsing Mnangagwa one after the other as this is normal in a game of politics, rather Zimbabweans should continue to heed the call by renowned journalist Hopewell Chin‘ono to continue to register to vote in numbers.
By A Correspondent- A Harare magistrate yesterday acceded to former Cabinet minister Priscah Mupfumira’s request to stop her trial until an earlier ruling dismissing her application for discharge is reviewed.
Mupfumira is facing a charge of criminal abuse of office. The former minister, who is being represented by Admire Rubaya, filed an application at the High Court seeking a review of magistrate Ngoni Nduna’s ruling dismissing her application for discharge at the close of the State case.
Mupfumira’s co-accused Barnabas Matongera was acquitted of the charges.
n granting the application for stay of proceedings, Nduna said the review application would enable both parties, including him to determine if there was a prima facie case.
“The review taken by the accused is a clear opportunity for the State and it will serve a dual purpose. There are questions which the review can answer and l will allow the postponement to a time the review will be determined,” Nduna ruled.
The matter was then postponed to June 29 pending the determination of the review.
The State alleges that Mupfumira and Matongera gave instructions to National Social Security Authority (Nssa) to proceed with a housing project named Mzenya Off-Take without complying with tender procedures and approval by the Nssa board.
The only witness in the murder of Elvis Nyathi who was killed by members of the extremist xenophobic vigilante group Operation Dudula has failed to identify any of the suspects during an identification parade.
Veteran broadcaster Ezra Tshisa Sibanda who is assisting the Nyathi family in getting justice for Elvis Nyathi narrated the incident below: Prince, the friend of the murdered Elvis Nyathi and a key state witness today went for the identification parade. He was picked up by 2 plain clothes investigating officers in an unmarked police car at around 12 noon and was released 5 hours later. They met him at a petrol garage because we didn’t want the officers to see or know where he is hiding. At the police station he was taken to a room with tinted windows to try and identify the killers of Elvis who were paraded outside.
There were 29 people on parade and he failed to identify a single suspect involved in the murder. Prince was full of nerve, confused and still nursing injuries he sustained when he was beaten up so he could not identify the perpetrators. It looks like the case will collapse and the murderers will walk free because no one can identify them. All the witnesses in Diepsloot are scared to tell the police who the killers are. We will leave it to God to get justice for Mbhodazwe
The SAPS have refused to give him a witness protection order but wants him to risk his life by attending an identification parade. He is the only key witness which the state will rely on in court. Mr Prince who was interviewed by this page a few days ago appears unwell and fearful after his ordeal and remains hiding. He is so nervous and very concerned about his safety. Surely as the key witness, the SA courts have an obligation to grant Prince with a witness protection order because there is a high possibility those evil criminals will try to destroy the case by eliminating him.
The witness protection order enables the witness to satisfy themselves that the prisoner whom they suspect is really the one who was seen by them in connection with the commission of the crime. Second part is to satisfy the investigating authorities that the suspect is the real person whom the witnesses had seen in connection with the said occurrence. In order for the case to go for a fair trial, witnesses are needed and they should be protected by the law, so they should give it to Prince. SA which brags about being a fair, just and democratic country should do the right thing and protect Prince. Prince has been told to appear at the parade as soon as tomorrow without fail. The SA police investigating this case refused to respond to my questions
By A Correspondent- High Court judge, Justice David Foroma, has caged a Bindura man, Brian Chikanya, 20 years for murdering his girlfriend in cold blood over infidelity allegations.
Chikanya killed his girlfriend, Sarah Munhu, on the night of August 10, 2017, in an event which left the Ushongani community shocked.
Munhu’s body was found lying by the roadside the following morning, with several fractures, confirming the brutal attack she succumbed to.
She was also found wearing Chikanya’s underwear, with indications that he had been intimate with her before the attack.
In passing sentence, Foroma said Chikanya’s actions cannot be justified under any circumstances.
“What aggravates the offence is that the accused sought to conceal the crime by taking the corpse to the roadside, where it was found the following morning by a passer-by.
“Every person has a right to the God given gift of life, which the constitution of this country considers to be a fundamental right. Courts have an obligation to protect every person’s right, and will always guard jealously the said.
“A message should be sent to the offender and any like minded, that violence, in this day and age of civilised human behaviour, will not be tolerated, no matter the circumstances.
“Crimes of passion are occurring much too often and are evidence of domestic violence, which courts will always frown upon, “he said.
During the trial, it emerged that Chikanya was having an affair with Munhu but her children were not aware and regarded him as their uncle.
On the fateful day, Chikanya even went with Munhu’s son to do some menial jobs before he passed through her home that evening.
Munhu later went to his house and footprints showed that she never left the hut alive.
An altercation arose while they were in bed, resulting in Chikanya fatally assaulting her.
After killing her, he cleaned the house and took the soiled blankets to his kitchen, trying to conceal the offence.
During the night, he carried Munhu’s corpse and left it by the roadside.
The following morning he pretended not to be privy to the on goings.
He went to Munhu’s homestead and took her children to the scene without disclosing what had happened.
The children only got to know that their mother had passed on when they got to the scene.
An alert police officer attending the scene, Constable Mangidza, of Munhenga Police Station, managed to pick signs that he was involved in the murder of Munhu.
She then asked him to accompany the children to the police station to give their statements, saying this was convenient because he was the one who brought them to the scene.
Munhenga alerted her colleagues, who then arrested Chikanya upon his arrival at the police station with Munhu’s children.
It was established that he killed Munhu using a chisel, hammer and a wooden stool.-NewZim
As factionalism ravages Zanu-PF, provincial affairs minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka’s preferred Kadoma-Chegutu candidate in the provincial youth league elections was beaten by agriculture deputy minister, Vangelis Haritatos’ proxy.
Chegutu rural district council chairman Tatenda Gwinji, a close ally of Mliswa-Chikoka, was trounced after only managing 31 votes, emerging last in a line up comprising winner Onisimo Zvandasara who tallied 50 votes and Timothy Masviba who garnered 42 votes.
The election was conducted at the Zanu-PF provincial headquarters in Chinhoyi on Tuesday to prevent possible skirmishes.
A Zanu-PF source said although Mliswa-Chikoka and Haritatos enjoy cordial relations, they clashed on the choice of candidate that will represent the province at the national youth league conference scheduled for May 4 to 8.
“This was a sticking point as Mliswa-Chikoka and Haritatos had differed on the youth to represent Kadoma-Chegutu District. After the two failed to reach a consensus, it was inevitable their preferred candidates had to square off in an election to settle the impasse, which turned out in Haritatos’ favour,” said the source, who requested anonymity.
The poll to choose the Kadoma/Chegutu representative was rescheduled following Sunday’s violence that broke out at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) that forced elections to be aborted.
Each province is dispatching four representatives to contest for national executive posts during the conference, which is a precursor to the October elective congress, where the ruling party is expected to ordain its 2023 presidential candidate.
In Sunday’s elections, Valerie Makonza beat Chipo Tagwirei and Sthembeni Madzima to land the gender seat, while Shepherd Marime was elected unopposed for Hurungwe/Kariba district.
Decide Manhanzva won the Zvimba/Makonde polls after shrugging off Godknows Muzhandamuri and Admire Muronzi, who is brother-in-law to information ministry permanent secretary, Nick Mangwana.
By A Correspondent- Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has warned that opposition parties that are backed by the Western powers will not take over power in Zimbabwe.
Writing on Twitter, Kashiri said, “We fought for our land, we fought for our sovereignty. No Imperialist-backed puppet opposition party shall ever take away what we fought for. Never.”
Earlier, the Minister had urged all Zimbabweans to support ZANU PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“All smart Zimbabweans should rally behind Zanu PF and our visionary leader President Mnangagwa. Our country is achieving rapid socio-economic transformation underpinned by sound and people-oriented policies. We are very lucky to have a listening and peace loving President.” She said.
The country is gearing up for harmonised elections to be held next year.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a stern warning to rivals within the ruling Zanu-PF amid fears of sabotage ahead of the December elective congress where he fears he will be challenged by his deputy Constantino Chiwenga.
Insiders said the attack was aimed at the Chiwenga camp that is targeting the youth league and women’s league conferences as platforms to consolidate its leadership takeover agenda ahead of the crucial congress where the former army general is set to contest Mnangagwa with the help of the military.
Although Chiwenga remains mum on his ambitions, insiders say there was a serious push to stop Mnangagwa from standing as the party candidate in 2023 despite being endorsed by the party’s Bindura conference last year.
The Chiwenga camp is basing on security reports, particularly the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) prediction of a Zanu-PF loss under Mnangagwa because of failure to address the economic crisis among other issues.
But in his address to the party politburo on Thursday, Mnangagwa said divisive elements will not be tolerated as leadership in the party was “not an entitlement.”
“As we prepare for our conferences of the leagues and the scheduled party congress, actions bent on sabotaging the party and dividing the membership will not be tolerated. Leadership in Zanu-PF is not entitlement,” Mnangagwa said.
“Finally, as the politburo, let us remain united and continue to handle party affairs with honesty, integrity and loyalty. Narrow and self-defeating agendas which are indeed against the interest of our mass party, should be rejected by us at this level and indeed among the rank and file of the membership.”
Mnangagwa is leading a deeply divided party that has failed to heal from the district and provincial restructuring exercises last year that were rigged in favour of those linked to him despite losing to those said to be either independent minded or linked to Chiwenga.
There are serious fight over provincial elections in the Midlands, Mashonaland Central, Manicaland, Mashonaland West, Matabeleland North and other provinces where the party remains divided.
Mnangagwa is also accused of pursuing a tribal agenda in favour of his Karanga ethnic group, promoting his relatives and close allies to key positions while alienating others.
“The conference must help consolidate intra-party unity and democracy, while also serving as a building block to party rejuvenation, modernisation and growth,” the Zanu-PF leader said.
“Meanwhile, I urge the youth league and women’s league, together with all other departments of the party involved in the holding of the conferences, to be guided by the supremacy of the party constitution, principles and values.”
C ritics say Mnangagwa is uncomfortable with the 2023 general election amid fears of defeat from the opposition on the back of internal fissures and bhora musango. He conceded that a lot needs to be done if the ruling party entertains any chances of winning.
“Much more work lies ahead of us as we gear up for a total victory in 2023 harmonised general elections,” Mnangagwa said.
On the exchange rate that his now hovering above ZWL$360 for US$1 on the parallel market and stoking chronic high inflation, Mnangagwa said: “Government is currently addressing the exchange rate evil and price hikes which are a result of imported inflation.”
In apparent reference to his much-hyped visit to Emmanuel Makandiwa’s church recently, Mnangagwa said there remains a strong relationship between the state and religion.
“The importance of the symbiotic relationship between the state, church and the party cannot be over-emphasised, more so now as we accelerate the building of our great country. This relationship must continue to be nurtured across all levels of society. I exhort the party leadership to deliberately find time to attend their various congregations.”
By A Correspondent- The Ministry of Health and Child Care has reported that cases of malaria have been on the decrease in 2022 compared to 2021.
A reduction of 47,9% of malaria cases was noted in the first week of 2022 second quarter as compared to the same period in 2021 with Malaria deaths over the same period going down from 48 the previous year to 26 in 2022.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care says it is working hard in order to meet the Global Malaria Strategy 2030 targets which are to:
a). to reduce Malaria case incidence by at least 90%,
b). reduce the Malaria mortality rate by at least 90%,
c). eliminate malaria in at least 35 countries as well as prevent a resurgence of Malaria in all countries that are malaria-free.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care is also conducting house spraying in all the 10 Provinces of Zimbabwe as well as providing protective bed nets to places with outbreaks as a way to curb Malaria and meet the Global Malaria Strategy 2030.
Mrs Fortunate Manjoro, Ministry of Health’s Social Behavior Change Communications urges the public to be aware of the Malaria signs and symptoms so that in the event that they experience the symptoms they should seek treatment. She said:
We urge the public to know the Malaria signs and symptoms that include fever, headache, general body pains, hot and cold spells, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite. Anyone experiencing these signs and symptoms should go for testing for malaria, delays in seeking treatment for malaria leads to severe diseases which may lead to deaths.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care urges pregnant women in high to moderate malaria transmission areas to book early and receive tablets to prevent malaria monthly till they deliver.
The Health Ministry, through the Weekly Surveillance Report, notes that Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Manicaland Provinces are recording the highest cases of Malaria accounting for 77% of the total (3066) case recorded so far in April 2022.
The cumulative number of Cases, in 2022 (Week1-12) is as follows:
Julius Malema this week came out on eNCA TV news calling for Zimbabweans to go back to Zimbabwe and vote the government of Emerson Mnangagwa out. He had earlier called President Mnangagwa a sell out and urging him to step down.
Malema’s interest in Zimbabwe’s elections is a result of his intimate association with the former ZANU PF political Commissair Xavier Tyson Kasukuwere. He is taking instructions from Kasukuwere thinking he has a good chance to be the next President. Malema now lives and believe in a lie of course peddled by Tyson.
It is not a secret that Kasukuwere and Malema always meet in their promiscuous adventures as both are known to be failures when it comes to control the items below the belt. Both Tyson and Malema are frequent visitors of the Makema’s penthouse in Sandton.
But why is Malema behaving like this. In most cases Malema is living his name. In Zulu and Ndebele ” Malema” is the word for “Marema” in Shona. This does not mean a person suffering from mental health illness but means a person of crazy and mad behaviour who can not order his fuculties well in relating to others.
Malema has wondered way offline in his spits.
He has actually become a double hero since he championed land invasion and land compensation. Malema in his speech he called Zimbabwean government as malicious and nonsense.
After his address on pertaining to the Zimbabweans in South Africa and the issue of voting, one can not help thinking that whosoever gave Malama that name had prophesied his insanity remarks about the Hon president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, ED.
Mr Malema is an opposition leader in SA , not in Zimbabwe or Africa, for that matter. His self-styled posture as a Pan- African Opposition leader is as delusional as his undeplomatic and obscene interference in internal affairs of another sovereign state. His actions are pervasive and totally uncalled for.
Malema starts well by encouraging zimbabweans to go home and vote. His lunacy is exposed when he starts calling the rule of cde Mnangagwa as “nonsense”.
Malema should understand that Voting issues are a complex internal and constitutional issue.
Presently those Zimbabweans in the diaspora have no right to vote from outside the borders of Zimbabwe, save for those on external duties. Mr Malema must know that this position can only be changed by Zimbabweans not by an over-exuberant howling of a foreign opposition leader.
In so far as Mr Malema is urging Zimbabweans in SA to return to vote in their country, he is behaving like a crazy man hiring a locksmith to open a door that stands ajar. In his understanding who is stopping these citizens to return?
Mr Malema’s is afflicted of the fallacious thinking and weird assumption that Zimbabweans in the disspora in voting will vote against the government and for the opposition. What nonsense is that. Zimbabweans in Diaspora are more patriotic than their counterparts at home. Being in diaspora one begin to appreciate his country. It is only when you are abroad that the environment teaches you to love your nation.
These Zimbabweans are part of a big family back home. It is more logical to think that the voting pattern at hone will find reflection in the diaspora.
This is because whatever the ANC has lost, that has been shared between the EEF and the other opposition party, the AD.
Malema can sense that his party is not likely to wrestle power fron the ANC in the next elections. As a consequence of this painful realisation Mr Malema lashes out, boils like an unserviced engine and his mouth blows like a leaky exhoust pipe.
Malema has been promised great opportunities in Zimbabwe should Kasukuwere becomes the president. Tyson still breeds those hallucinations where he will come to be a president of Zimbabwe. That day will never come and Malema should wake up and smell coffee.
Mr Malema must concentrate on coming up with a cogent programme of attracting his own county man as voters in SA. Imbecile speaches and roudy behaviour in Parliament all these years have not had any electorial impact at all.
A man and opposition leader devoid of ideas to improve his country cast his eyes like a voyeur at a neighbourhood ‘s bedroom.
It may well be that Mr Malema is salivating when he sees some of the illegal immigrants in SA and hallucinate that one day they will vote in his country and vote for him, hence his statement that they should go back to Zimbabwe to vote and “come back”.
If Mr Malema wants to do something meaningful for Zimbabweans in his country, he must join them in the fight for dignity in that country: fight for the right to life of the Zimbabweans who are being burnt alife.
He must address his compatriots to eradicate xenophobia, prejudice and vigilantism. He must seriously engage the government of SA and all stakeholders to find a solution to the most pressing need of the Zimbabweans in SA, which is the need for protection.
Therefore for Malema to ignore the single most pressing issue of protection of life of the Zimbabweans in SA and to talk nonsensically as he did was not just a cynical diversion but an insult to Zimbabweans in his country and all over the world.
Malema gets it wrong when he said the Zimbabweans must go back to Zimbabwe and remove the ZANU PF government. This thinking is flawed and tainted with insults which are not called for.
Zimbabwe is not reneging on the gains of independence. Zimbabweans are not against their government. It was ZANU PF which made Zimbabweans to pick up arms and go to a war.
The EFF must take their commander Malema for a mental check up.
Eleven people were arrested, and dozens of illegal decoders were seized during police raids over the past two weeks, as police broke a TV-decoder smuggling ring.
The cross-border smuggling ring is involved in bringing Openview decoders from South Africa into Zimbabwe, in contravention of customs, trademark and copyright laws.
Raids and seizures are set to continue across the SADC region as a regional clampdown on content piracy continues.
The Openview decoders are used to access content from the SABC and eMedia in South Africa.
The content is not licensed for viewing in any other countries in the region.
“We commend the Zimbabwe police on their detective work in breaking the smuggling ring and making the arrests,” says Antonio Lee, COO of Openview parent company eMedia Group.
“We are working with law enforcement in several SADC countries to share information about illegal trade in our decoders. We look forward to more major busts and more arrests being made soon.”
Lee says Openview decoders can only be legally sold in South Africa, and that retailers who sell the set-top boxes in other countries are guilty of crimes of content piracy – the unauthorised duplication and sale of copyrighted content.
“Anyone purchasing an Openview decoder in Zimbabwe is robbing the country of customs duties,” he says.
“They can expect no after-sales service. Also, Zimbabwe’s TV professionals suffer when viewers watch foreign content instead of home-made Zimbabwean shows.”
Illegal decoders are a form of grey-market content piracy, which involves distributing and selling a product or a service outside the geographical area where it is licensed.
The raids follow an intensive investigation across key Southern African markets, which has identified retail outlets selling the Openview decoders.
In total, eleven outlets were raided and 81 decoders including 1094 records containing Openview serial numbers were seized. Follow-up investigations are likely to lead to further arrests and confiscations of devices.
“Openview supports these raids, and we take this issue extremely seriously,” says Lee.
“Pirating content using our devices is illegal. Both retailers and viewers are guilty of crimes. Having an illegal decoder in your store or in your home means you can be arrested at any time and prosecuted.”
Lee says that training has been conducted with law enforcement, customs agencies, and border officials on what to look out for in fighting content piracy and decoder smuggling.
He says that if smuggled decoders are identified, they can be blocked remotely so that they become useless.
Lee says he appeals to Zimbabwe consumers not to buy Openview decoders.
“Several national and international laws are being broken if you use pirate decoders. You will get no customer support, they can be switched off at any time, and you are engaging in illegal, criminal activity that makes you liable to arrest and prosecution.”
By A Correspondent- Farisisai Mupeti, of Rusike Phase 3 in Marondera, briefly appeared before Harare Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda on 22 April and was not asked to plead.
The prosecution said:
Her accomplice Allimos went on to send Zihumo air tickets and a VISA
Zihumo first knew something was wrong when her air tickets, written in Arabic, showed the destination as Oman, and not Dubai.
Mupeti, it is alleged, processed a fake medical examination report and polymerase chain reaction test for Zihumo.
When Zihumo landed in Oman, her apprehension only heightened when her passport was taken away by men acting in connivance with Mupeti, the charges say.
She was “sold” to a man who would be her “employer.” The prosecution added:
She was denied food, worked around the clock, and was kept indoors for three months.
Alleged the prosecution:
She even stated that if she failed to attend her mother’s burial in Zimbabwe, she will suffer from a mental illness.
By A Correspondent- The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has urged Zimbabweans to wear black clothes on Friday to mourn the high cost of living that has pushed many into extreme poverty.
ARTUZ president, Obert Masaraure, this Wednesday said teachers are preparing for a radical approach in fighting for better salaries. He said:
We will put on black regalia to mark black Friday, mourning extreme poverty in the country, the collapsing economy and demand a solution to the salary crisis and smooth opening of schools.
Black Friday will mark the “death” of our country’s economy. Schools are set to open next week yet prices of fuel, bread and other basic commodities have gone up in the context of stagnant paltry salaries that workers earn. Our teachers and the broad working class are now in deep poverty.
On this Friday we are inviting the working class to wear black in mourning the extreme poverty, marking the death of our economy. Black Friday will be held ahead of the May Day celebrations as we prepare a radical fight to demand better wages for workers in Zimbabwe.
He added that there will be no marches saying holding placards and wearing black will be enough.
Schools are scheduled to open for the second term on May 3.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) secretary-general Japhet Moyo said there was nothing to celebrate on Workers Day given the poor working conditions in both the public and private sectors.
By- The Nelson Chamisa led Citizens Coalition for Change its much talked about elective congress would cost US$2 Million
The party’s interim secretary-general, Chalton Hwende said that the opposition party cannot hold an elective congress before 2023 harmonised elections because it doesn’t have the funds for the event.
This comes barely a week after CCC interim deputy spokesperson, Gift Siziba claimed they will not hold a congress because they feared infiltration by Zanu PF and State security agents.
However, Hwende said CCC doesn’t have the huge sums of money needed to hold a congress as well as for election campaigns. Said Hwende:
The two biggest cost centres in a political party are: 1. Congress 2. General Elections.
There is no sane party that holds both events in the same year because to have a congress for CCC you need US$2 million and an election, a minimum of US$150 million. Politics is a very expensive game.
We are less than 12 months before an election, and the three critical priority areas are 1. Voter registration 2 Candidates selection and polling agents training 3. Fundraising.
By-Four men from Epworth allegedly broke into a United Methodist Church pastor’s house in Dema and allegedly gang-raped her.
The accused persons are Ronald Mambo (32), Palace Gwinhi (30), Tinashe Nyamayaro (34) and Cuthbert Homakoma (32).
They appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mr Clever Tsikwa facing two counts of robbery and rape.
They pleaded not guilty.
The trial is expected to continue on May 4 with the complainant giving her account.
Prosecuting, Ms Trinity Nyandebvu told the court that on September 16,last year at around 11pm, the accused persons forcefully opened the complainant’s door and threatened to assault her with iron bars and knobkerries if she made any noise.
They demanded valuables and they ransacked the house and robbed her of US$250 cash, an Acer laptop, two Tecno cellphones, a car battery, five blankets, exhaust sealer and groceries among other things.
The accused persons in association ordered the complainant to drink a sour substance from a wild cat container and the complainant felt weak.
Homakoma then forcefully raped the complainant twice without using protection. The complainant made a report to the police and was referred to the hospital where she was medically examined. The court further heard that on December 8,2021, information was received to the effect that Mambo and Gwinhi were arrested on other charges. After thorough questioning the two implicated the other two accomplices leading to their arrest. Then on December 9 the four accused persons were placed on a formal identification parade and the complainant positively identified accused four (Homakoma) as the one who raped her on the day in question. The identification parade was recorded by a static camera and the photos of the identification parade can be produced as evidence in court. Meanwhile, on third count the complainant is Angella Makumire aged 23. The allegations are that on September 26,2021 at around 0001hours, the four accused persons hatched a plan to rob the complainant. They broke into the complainant’s tuckshop armed with iron bars and knobkerries and threatened to assault her if she failed to comply with their demands. They took away US$250 cash,32 inch television,a cellphone and some groceries. She made a police report leading to the acussed persons arrest. Only the television set was recovered. Herald

Warriors captain Knowledge Musona is still available for selection should the FIFA ban be lifted and Zimbabwe be allowed to take part in the Afcon qualifiers, Team Manager Wellington Mpandare has said.
Musona (31), became the first Zimbabwean player to score at two different Afcon finals, when he brilliantly headed home Never Tigere’s pin-point cross against Guinea at Afcon 2021 but his future has been shrouded in uncertainty since then.
Soccer24 understands that Musona, who is on the ranks of Saudi Arabian side Al Tai, is still keen on playing for the Warriors should there be international football in Zimbabwe, a position which has been confirmed by Mpandare.
“Knowledge is still available for national team selection but obviously if we don’t get cleared for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers then it will be a different ball game all together,” said Mpandare.
“That will mean our coming back into international football will be after 2023 Afcon final and a lot can happen in between,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Former Premier Soccer League referee Ruzive Ruzive believes the penalty incident which led to violence at Mandava Stadium between FC Platinum and Highlanders, was the correct call.
Referee Kuzivakwamwari Jaravaza pointed to the spot in the 82nd minute after Peter Muduhwa was adjudged to have brought down Walter Musona.
The incident led to violence, after a section of Bosso fans invaded the pitch in protest, and police reacted by firing teargas, leading to the match being abandoned.
Speaking on ZTN weekly show The Couch, Ruzive said Jaravaza made the right decision.
“If the holding, pulling of the shirt started outside the box and ended inside the box, then it is a penalty,” said Ruzive.
“So if it is clear that there was holding in this scenario, which I’m seeing from that angle, I’m seeing holding of the shirt.”
“There was a pulled shirt starting from outside the box, and ended up inside, so what it means is, the decision was correct,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
By Knowledge Hakata-Political Analyst | With less than a year and two months before Zimbabwe holds its highly anticipated 2023 Presidential elections, President Mnangagwa has of late turned for support from self-styled Prophets and Papa’s in the much flocked charismatic churches in Zimbabwe.

By- A butchery operator, in Kadoma has been kicked out of his rented shop for supporting the CCC party.
Nicholas Marufu claimed that he had been evicted from rented premises at Tandara Shopping Centre in Kadoma for allegedly hosting Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists.“The problem started after CCC supporters were seen buying meat from my butchery while wearing party regalia on April 23. After that, Memory Simango gave me notice to vacate the property by the end of the month,” Marufu said. Simango owns the premises. “She had verbally given me notice to terminate the lease, but I told her I was not accepting the termination of the lease agreement on political grounds.” However, Simango dismissed Marufu’s claims, accusing him of being a bad tenant. “In fact, he must be negotiating with me because he has not been paying rent for four months. Marufu is supposed to pay US$50 as rent, but he is failing. I was away last week and I was phoned by people asking me if I knew anything about the political meeting being held at the shop and I said I was not aware,” Simango said. “They said it was not safe and right for business premises to be used for political gatherings. I called him to discuss, but he failed to turn up. I later locked the fridge at the shop hoping that he would come to meet me so that we could talk, but he did not. He instead shamelessly went to the shop and broke the fridge lock. He is just a problem and worse he has no butchery or shop licence, he rides on mine.” In a written response to Simango, Marufu said he wanted compensation for improvements to the premise. “I need full compensation for those developments. I also need a full calendar year notice for such termination of lease. I agreed on a five-year lease agreement with you when I commenced operation on these premises,” Marufu wrote to Simango. “Take note, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, I continued paying rentals although I was not operating. The rent I was paying was for future business operations. It is not fair to evict me on political grounds less than six months after we resumed operations. Newsday

All Nations and Babel
Lesson 5
Memory Text: “Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth” (Genesis 11:9, NKJV).
Introduction.
After the Flood, the biblical account shifts from a focus on the single individual, Noah, to his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The particular attention on Ham, the father of Canaan (Gen. 10:6, 15), introduces the idea of “Canaan,” the Promised Land (Gen. 12:5), an anticipation of Abraham, whose blessing will go to all nations (Gen. 12:3). However, the line is broken by the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9). Once again, God’s plans for humankind are disrupted. What was supposed to be a blessing, the birth of all nations, becomes another occasion for another curse. The nations unite in order to try to take God’s place; God responds in judgment on them; and, through the resulting confusion, the people get scattered throughout the world (Gen. 11:8), thus fulfilling God’s original plan to “fill the earth” (Gen. 9:1, NKJV).
In the end, in spite of human wickedness, God turns evil into good; He has, as always, the last word. The curse of Ham in his father’s tent (Gen. 9:21, 22) and the curse of the confused nations at the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:9) will, eventually, be turned into a blessing for the nations.
SABBATH: Since Creation, God’s will has been interrupted by Man’s will. The Antediluvians carried on the sins that led to the Fall. God chose to bless Noah & his 3 sons, specially Ham (father of Canaan) whose name implied the Promised Land, where all nations would be blessed through Abraham (Gen. 10:6, 15, 12:3, 5). By the Tower of Babel, the line to bless all nations was broken (Gen. 11:1-9; 9:1).
SUNDAY: Ham saw his father’s sin a tale to relate to others & he was cursed (Gen. 9:18-27). The sin of Noah echoes Adam’s sin in Eden; eating of the fruit, nakedness, a covering, a curse, & a blessing. He lost self-control, got naked & Ham “saw” him (Gen. 3:6). Unlike Ham, his brothers covered Noah (Exod. 20:12, Eph. 6:2). Amid the curse on “Canaan” was a blessing (Dan. 9:27, Isa. 66:18-20, Rom. 11:25).
MONDAY: The age of Noah makes him a link between the pre-Flood & the post-Flood civilizations. Noah likely heard stories from his father, Lamech, about Adam & could relay the stories to his line prior & after the Flood. Bible genealogy 1. gives history about real people 2. builds a link between past & present & 3. tells the fatal effect of sin (Gen. 10, Luke 3:23-38, see also Gen. 46:27, Exod. 24:9, Deut. 32:8, Luke 10:1).
TUESDAY: Those who lived after the Flood decided to build a city & in it a Tower to take the place of God & unite in one body. God had told them to replenish & disperse (Gen. 11:1-4). Their actions echo that of God in Creation (Gen. 11:3, 4; Gen. 1:6, 9, 14, & 26). Satan led them to build a tower to escape another flood (Isa. 14:14). Nations unites to fight God in Daniel (Dan. 1:2, 2:43, 11:43-45; Rev. 16:14-16).
WEDNESDAY: No man can reach up to God, save through Christ. In the Tower of Babel, we find any human attempt to replace God & declare oneself as self-righteous as folly. While men were going up, God had to come down to them. Only God can save, Jesus indeed came down to us (Gen. 11:5-7, Ps. 139:7-12, 2:4, Luke 1:26-33, PP, p. 123). God confused the builders to stop more evil. He cares for us!
THURSDAY: One aim of the Tower was to stop people from scattering abroad. Their act was an attack on God’s charge for them to disperse, replenish, & subdue (Gen. 11:8, 9, 9:1, 1:28). They sought to use their united power for evil. The fame they sought ended in shame (PP, p. 123). “Babel” means “door of God” & relates to “balal” (means confuse). In trying to replace God (reach His door) came confusion.
FRIDAY: Artisans of the Tower of Babel hoped that their city would be the metropolis of a universal empire. They had disobeyed God by refusing to disperse, replenish, & subdue. The tower was to be a testimony to the wisdom & power of its makers. The men doubted God that He would not again bring a flood. Some linked the Flood to nature & not God. The tower was an escape from any danger.

Canaan- It’s from the verb kana‘, meaning “subdue.” It is through the subduing of Canaan that God’s people, the descendants of Shem, will enter the Promised Land and prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah who will enlarge Japheth “in the tents of Shem” (Gen. 9:27).
Curse on Ham- It is a gross theological mistake & ethical crime to use this text to justify racist theories against anyone. The prophecy is restricted to Canaan, Ham’s son. The Canaanites engaged in corrupt practices (Gen. 19:5–7, 31–35).
Genealogy- There’s a direct link between Adam and the patriarchs (Matt. 1:1-17). The mention of 70 nations foreshadow the 70 members of the family of Jacob (Gen. 46:27) and the 70 elders of Israel in the wilderness (Exod. 24:9). Along the same line, Jesus sends 70 disciples to evangelize (Luke 10:1).
Lamech- He was Noah’s father & was 56 years old when Adam died. He must have told stories about Adam to his son.

Discussion Questions
? What example do we have from history, or even the present, of the trouble that can come from those who seek to make a name for themselves?
? How can we, as a church, avoid the danger of seeking to build our own Tower of Babel? What are ways we might actually be seeking to do this, even subconsciously?

ZUDAC STATEMENT ON THE CURRENT PUBLIC TRANSPORT CRISIS IN ZIMBABWE.
We hope to find you well. Our transport situation has failed to improve and it has been for decades. We appreciate the efforts being made by the government to address the crisis. The Covid pandemic forced the government to suspend all private kombi operators from offering transport service.
Whilst we agree that the government had to act to protect the public from the Covid 19, we feel that the suspension of private Kombies has now made the situation worse than before as such it needs a review.
Zupco should not be disbanded but we need a supplementary transport system from private Zimbabwean operators.
Zupco must be given routes to operate and private operators the same.
It is important to note that private operators include pensioners, war veterans, war detainees, war collaborators, disabled people, general Zimbabwean citizens and drivers.
The bringing back of Kombies is going to bring a positive impact on our economy. The first signs will be the government’s revenue generation and the income per capita.
The nation of Zimbabwe is now subject to rape, robberies, murders and accidents. It is now evident that Zupco is now providing transport to less than 40 percent of our people and 60 percent from private illegal operators.
Further more the economy has been slowed down by the delays encountered by all workers on reporting for work. This is totally negative to the already struggling economy.
As Zudac we continue to urge the government to review the Covid pandemic statutory instrument of 2020. The statutory instrument makes it an offence for anyone to operate public transport business outside Zupco franchise. This program has exposed our government to a ZWL1, 2 billion debt.
The program has killed compliance for both drivers and vehicles. Vehicles are nolonger going for VID periodical examinations with drivers failing to renew their defensive and medical because they are no longer paid adequately. Inflation is always wiping out their salaries which are always late. The Zupco program has brought suffering to GVT, operators and public countrywide.
The Union engaged the President’s Office Utilities Committee, Local GVT Minister, Home Affairs ministry, Min of Transport and the Parliamentary portifo Committee for local government and transport. What surprises us is that it is taking time for us to get a respond on our submissions.
The transport crisis has lacked coverage from all our newspapers and radios as they are focusing more on politics and social media adultery affairs of celebrities.
The social media is also awash with non productive issues and sideling challenges facing communities. Zimbabweans we must spare time for progressive patriotic thinking.
The morale of Drivers and Conductors is very low because of poor salaries and bad working conditions.
Transport at Zupco is now being run by the wrong people who do not value safety of the public and welfare of workers.
Zupco is doing well on marketing but doing nothing on corruption, competence and welfare of operators and drivers.
As an organization we are there to give our government the right information for sound planning and policing.
Our enforcement is now caught in between poor planning and public disobedience on the transport policy. ZRP and VID are now finding it difficult to impound vehicles belonging to big Names. We know our President does not like this in any way.
Our police and VID must be allowed to execute their constitutional obligation thereby eliminating rogue elements.
We would want to convey our heartfelt condolences to all families of victims of Nkulumane and Chiremba road railway accidents. The accidents happened yesterday the 26 April.
We continue to urge all drivers to follow all road rules and regulations as they are for a reason.
For years, the family of the late former President Robert Mugabe maintained a stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair for its company Gushungo Holdings.
The late veteran leader’s Alpha Omega Dairy company has since folded, and the famous stand has been taken over by the Health Services Board.
Mugabe’s empire started to collapse in 2017 when he was ousted from power after ruling the southern African country for 37 years.
Reports say Mugabe’s companies survived on patronage and nepotism as government departments stampeded to buy “expensive” products to secure favours from the first family.
As back as 2019, reports suggested that Alpha Omega Dairy was auctioning its several properties including vehicles and farm equipment.
The courts have also done less to help the situation as they have in most cases ruled against the Mugabes.
Resultantly, the former first family has been forced to vacate some properties or pay huge sums of money they owed to individuals and companies. – Pindula News
By- Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), leader Julious Malema has challenged Zimbabweans living in Africa should go home and vote out Zanu PF in the 2023 elections.
Malema said Zimbabweans should not feel too comfortable in South Africa but should know that a prosperous Zimbabwe is a solution to the problems of South Africa.
Speaking at the Freedom Day celebration in Tshwane on Wednesday, the former ANC youth leader said President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa are equally clueless.
Said Malema:
Mnangagwa is as clueless as (Cyril) Ramaphosa. They are Siamese twins. We are making a plea to all Zimbabweans living in South Africa that when you are here you are home and feel at home.
When they are elections go and vote and remove that nonsense and come back if you want.
The people of Zimbabwe must rise and go to vote for a proper government in Zimbabwe.
Let’s help each other so that we become one big happy family.

…Hopewell Chin’ono, at the time of writing his article to the Sunday Mail, had rational views about US led sanctions imposed against Zimbabwe…
By Dr Masimba Mavaza| Zimbabweans have seen a crop of people who stand and pledge to soil their country. We have seen people who are so dedicated to make Zimbabwe look evil in the eyes of the world.
Dr Masimba Mavaza
But on the top of the list of such subversive and treasonous acts comes Mr Hopwell Chin’ono who knows no other words but to vilify and insult Zimbabwe.
Hopewell has a vendetta against Zimbabwe and he actually dares the police to arrest him so that he gets some form of recognition where he will be portrayed like a hero.
In a way best described as treason, Hopewell vomited profane and perverted utterances against Zimbabwe. He did this to please his handlers and he knew his lies would earn him a cell in a jail. When he arrived home behaving like a witch who was caught during a session Hope was quiet, his tail between his legs, his tongue a bit taimed. He expected to be arrested or something bad happen after his rant, but he has been ignored and his handlers are in a quagmire. They don’t know how to react after Zimbabwe decided not to arrest this fork tongued journalist.
In a rare positive but real point, Dr Mzembi on Twitter said, “By the way I forgot to complement GVT of @edmnangagwa for showing extraordinary maturity over the prompting that was being done on these streets by some overzealous lot to arrest @daddyhope upon his return from an overseas trip . This is as it should be!”
Zimbabwe having a fair share of lunatics one fella and a known hooligan, Job Sikhala responded to Mzembi’s Twitter by saying “they aborted it not voluntarily, but the world clearly warned them not to cross that path. Don’t forget @daddyhope was at a UN organ summit. They were clearly told not to persecute him for exercising his right to speech at an international platform. These people are damn evil.”
One can obviously see that the bitterness in Job Sikhala’s tweet is as a result of a disappointment that the government did not waste time on a dare devil who dares the enforcement system to execute the law.
On the whole, it’s clear, that Hopeell Chin’onos sale by date is nigh. His behaviour has shown that he is schizophrenic and a mercenary, no principle!
In the past few years Mr Hopwell Chin’ono has been, with some measure of success in the eyes of the fickle and frail minded, succeded in re-enacting and modelling himself as a symbol of light in Zimbabwe’s politico-media arena.
Mr Chin’ono has intensely manufactured and branded his hitherto uninspiring image not just as a so- called campainer and advocate for human rights but also as “a martyr of incredible valour.”
Mr HC has, to the guilliable, been able to achieve this grafted and most unnatural image of himself through greed, self interest and above all through a vengeful spirit.
Chin’ono had tried to be given a very high post by the government of Zimbabwe. This he was doing so that he becomes a planted agent of the enemies of Zimbabwe.
In 2017 Hopewell Chin’ono tweeted in response to the late Dewa Mavhinga. “I am still shocked that there are Zimbabweans who are not political enough to know and understand that sanctions against Zimbabwe will not affect Emmerson Mnangagwa but their mothers and fathers in the townships and villages scattered around the country.
When a government is denied a line of credit and falls to raise foreign currency to import fuel it is ordinary Zimbabweans-that will sleep in fuel queues not Emerson Mnangagwa.
We are currently for diaspora’s bite to be granted so that our compatriots abroad can exercise their rights to vote. How do you expect a sitting president not allowed to go and campaign in the diaspora due to Zidera sanctions to grant that right.
I just couldn’t wrap my head aroundDewa Mavhinga’s request to the US government to retain the current foreign policy around Zimbabwe a foreign policy which is anchored on the The Zimbabwe Democracy and
Economic Recovery Act of 2001 which has punitive economic sanctions against Zimbabwe.
Dewa Mavhinga said and asked the US government to, and I quote him; “Maintain
existing US policy toward Zimbabwe until the
military removes itself from politics and the 2018 elections are legitimately assessed to be
peaceful, transparent, free and fair and that power is smoothly transmitted to the newly elected government.”
All the things he spoke of have been overridden by his request to maintain a foreign policy
which includes sanctions on Zimbabwe.
I would understand if Mr Biti and his gang had said that they had engaged the Zimbabwean
government and that the new President and his government did not respond positively.
They haven’t even engaged the new administration whose ministers have only been
in office for exactly eight working days.”
Hopewell at this time he was seeing sense or was he. Immediately after this Hopewell Chin’ono attacked the late Dewa Mavhinga a USA funded activist made to spread negativity about Zimbabwe. After this attack on Dewa, Hopewell approached the second highest office in the Republic promising to shed more light on how treacherous people like Biti and Chamisa were. The appointment was approved since every public office in the new dispensation government operates on *Open door policy mantra.
It’s at this meeting when he begged for a high post position at ZBC or Zimpapers. The answer he got was more or less similar to some morning dew chiefly because there was a need for security check on the persona of Hopewell Chin’ono. Resultantly, Hopewell failed the test. He took no time before he started to join hands with the same people he once had described as enemies of the State.
So it is clear that Hopwell Chin’ono is not only a liar but a bitter unpatriotic evil person and a witch among us.
Now if someone enters in the public arena and makes a living by scandalising his country and others he triggers people to scrutinise him. He has elected himself as a man of integrity and a moral giant fighting for Human Rights. He has elected himself as a freedom fighter.
If you scratch under the skin you will find out this is self interest and vindictiveness. It does not matter if he is telling the truth or not. The truth which is forged for a wrong motive is worse than the Lies. Hopewell’s truth is curved out of vindictiveness and bitterness.
Many would be acquainted with Mr Hopewell Chin’ono’s virulent criticism of the government of Zimbabwe of the new dispensation. Some will also be acquainted with his instiable appetite for cohabitating with the detractors of our country, particularly the West.
The natural product of his illicit relationship with the West is not only that he has become their distinct yoyo and mouthpiece but that more worryingly that he has trumpled over principle and patriotism to reach out to the funding of his handlers.
Mr HC is earning a livelihood by attacking not only the institutions of our country and some of its finest citizens but by also attacking the credibility of their characters, their programmes and their motivation.
While some may be hoondwicked or even convinced by Mr HC’s narratives and seducing antics, it is fair to let the nation see who he really is and what his motivations are.
Chin’ono is best described by who he is not, than the opposite. He is not a democrat. He is not a fighter for human rights. He is not even concerned about ordinary Zimbabweans. As a matter of fact he does not even believe an ounce of what he says and writes about Zanu PF or its leaders. In fact Hopeless Chin’ono is a man of no principled conviction. In the core of his character, behaviours and actions must be discerned a vile sense of greed and most unnatural selfishness. I would take three fundamental aspects of his commentary and purported convictions that graphically illustrate his breath-taking hypocrisy.
1. Commentary on foreign Issues:
On 13 December 2017 Mr HC wrote an article which was published by the Sunday May. He made the following remark on the the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the USA and the EU: “When a government is denied a line of credit and fails to raise foreign exhange to buy fuel, it is the ordinary citizens that sleep in fuel quees, not Emmerson Mnangagwa”.
In the same article and refering to Mr Dewa Mavinga ( an incorrigible and shameless US mouthpiece himself) stated: ” I just couldn’t wrap my head around Dewa Mavinga’s request for the US government to retain its current foreign policy around Zimbabwe…”.
Hopewell Chin’ono is a fairly intelligent man. His ideas on foreign and domestic policy were clear and logical when he wrote this article. He is at a remote place now, from where he was then. His grand departure from his previous position is only explicable on the basis of a most deplorable gymnastic and shattering hypocrisy.
Mr Hopewell Chin’ono, at the time of writing his article to the Sunday Mail, had rational views about US led sanctions imposed against Zimbabwe. He needs to explain himself to the Zimbabweans as to why and how the beautiful butterfly degenerated into an ugly caterpillar.
Hopewell had similarly rational and progressive views on domestic policy. For example, on the diaspora vote he wrote, in the same article “….how do you expect a sitting president not allowed to go and campaign in the disspora due to ZIDERA sanctions to grant that vote?”
Mr Chin’ono had unsparing and sharp views about the opposition. In the same article he appropriately becried “Biti and his gang” ‘s failure to engage the government of Zimbabwe in rushing to denigrate the country in the USA.
Clearly Hopewell knows and appreciates the values and virtues of engagement and collaboration which he touted in that article. Today Mr Chin’ono is the very opposite of an engager. He is an agitator.
Seemingly Mr Chin’ono has undergone transformation. In practice he is the same old selfish schemer. The article he wrote and the views he expressed, although logical and sane, were not driven by patriotism or by any decency at all. Mr Chin’ono designed and penned the article purely as a bait for a job at The Herald or ZBC. Therefore the Twitt was an insencere act in auditioning.
Soon after the publication of the article by the Sunday Mail, Mr HC approached the authorities for a job at The Herald . While the usual pre-employment checks were being conducted, Mr HC either took fright or he lost patience and abondoned his quest. There and then his old pretentious life ceased and a new feigned life commenced.
Mr HC’s new forms of hypocricy and insincerity are underpinned by a clear and profound spirit of vengenance against Zanu PF and against the government following his failure to get an automatic job at The Herald. The man has a childish sense of entitlement and he handles himself as if the country owes him a living.
Furthermore, in much the same way MrChin’ono tried to prostitute himself to Zanu PF for a position, he has found himself a home in the bed of Zimbabwe ‘s detractors where he is prostituting himself for fame and fortune.
The nation, therefore, must see Mr Hopewell Chin’ono for the man he is: a mercenary who will shamelessly make U turns while castibg himself as a valiant sacrifice.
It is a shame that we have many Zimbabweans who have been fooled by Hopewell Chin’ono the man who has destroyed people’s lives by his lying. The man who is not ashamed at all for plunging Zimbabwe in sanctions while he is paid thousands for demonising Zimbabwe.
But Chin’ono must remember that Zimbabwe is quenched in the blood of those who loved and died for it. Zimbabwe will never be defeated by a bunch if traitors posing as journalists or maybe pretending to be politicians.
Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in the whole world so we must defend it with the last drop of our blood.
By-The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator to Zimbabwe, Edward Kallon, has urged the Government to create a conducive environment that allows Zimbabweans who have emigrated to return home and contribute to the development of the country.
Kallon also implored western countries to remove targeted sanctions that they imposed on Zimbabwe at the turn of the millennium.
Kallon made the remarks while speaking at a media briefing in Bulawayo on Tuesday 26 April on the backdrop of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, celebrated annually on April 24
Earlier this month, Zimbabwean Elvis Nyathi was brutally murdered by a mob in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, for not having a passport.
South Africans blame foreigners for the high levels of crime and unemployment in that country.
