Zanu PF Heavyweights “Stampede” To Buy Chiredzi Thigh Vendor Coffin

By A Correspondent-The 2023 elections are beckoning, and politicians are going to any extent to win the hearts of voters, including buying coffins for every funeral in the constituency.

A deceased prominent Chiredzi sex worker, Paida Manika found herself with two coffins at her burial two weeks ago when Zanu PF Chiredzi West MP Farai Musikavanhu and prominent businessman Charles Njopera also a party sympathizer, each bought a coffin.
The Mirror was at the funeral.

Musikavanhu who is believed to be looking at retaining his seat in 2023 confirmed to The Mirror that he bought a coffin for Paida. He said that he looked at Paida as his daughter and at one time assisted her with medical bills when she fell ill.

Musikavanhu said he was no aware that Njopera had bought another coffin.
Paida was stabbed by her boyfriend Obvious Yaya Toruvanda (22) who is now in remand prison.

Njopera told The Mirror that he lost 20% of the value after he was forced to return the coffin that he bought. He bought a US$300 coffin and Paida’s family settled for the one bought by Musikavanhu.

“When I heard of Paida’s death, I went there and notified her uncle’s that I would provide a coffin and they agreed. I then went and paid US$300 to the parlour and I was shocked on the burial to hear that MP Musikavanhu had also purchased a coffin.

“I was left with no choice but to return the coffin at 20% less,” said Njopera.

“I treated Paida as my daughter that’s why I sponsored her burial. At one time I helped her when she fell sick in 2021. As for the issue of coffins, I can’t comment,” said Msikavanhu.
Paida’s brother-in-law, Arthur Mbodzera said he heard Paida ‘s uncles discussing about the coffin issue but was not sure how the issue was resolved.

Some sex workers who spoke to The Mirror on condition of anonymity blamed Musikavanhu for only showing up at last minute.

“Njopera was the one who stood by us from the start, he provided the tents, food and almost everything and I don’t know why the preferred the coffin which only came at the last minute,” said a sex worker.

Njopera however said he has no political intentions but was only ploughing back to the society as a businessman.

“I have no interest in politics, I only did this because I am a businessman so I am ploughing back to the community,” he said.

State Double Standards Exposed In Harare Businessman’s Legal Dispute With Ken Sharpe

By A Correspondent| The ongoing trial of Harare businessman George Katsimberis has laid bare, the double standards of the state which continues to prosecute its state witness in matters based on the same set of facts.

Katsimberis is embroiled in a long standing legal battle with controversial businessman Kenneth Raydon Sharpe following a botched multi-million dollar joint venture deal.

Allegations are that Katsimberis constructed a show house without approved architectural plans despite evidence that the plans were approved at City of Harare’s Cleveland house where all payments were effected and receipted.

Following the destruction of the show house Katsimberis reported Sharpe’s company Pokugara Properties and City of Harare officials for perjury and malicious damage to property and is a witness.  Two months later Pokugara reported him for fraud under the same set of facts.

Through his lawyer Charles Warara, Katsimberis had applied for all records of the proceedings in the trial where he is a witness to be transcribed. The transcription were not yet ready by the time trial commenced yesterday.

However, the State led by Michael Reza tried to rubbish Warara’s assertions that the proceedings were of interest.

Warara accused Reza of double dealing saying the State cannot pretend no to know what is transpiring in the other court.

“The State is simply being duplicitous, it is unheard of, the State cannot come here and pretend that it does not know what the right hand is holding when the left hand… they know what is transpiring in the other courts.

“We cannot sit here and pretend that Mr. Reza who is in charge of the prosecution in these courts does not know what is transpiring in the other courts, he is just simply being duplicitous. It is one State it cannot come to this court and go to another court with the same accused person as a witness in similar circumstances. There is absolutely no basis that the State can say it does not know what is happening in the other court,” Warara said

Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi deferred proceeding to February 15.

ED Minister Sucked In Gold Mine Grab Saga

By- Mines and Mining Development minister Winston Chitando has been dragged to the court for allegedly grabbing eight gold mining claims belonging to an investor.

Businessman Yakub Ibrahim Mahomed, said Chitando re-issued the mining claims under a special grant to Golden Reef Mining (Pvt) Ltd, where he is a director.

Mohamed, who owns Anesu Gold (Pvt) Ltd, filed a High Court application seeking to interdict Chitando, Mines secretary Onesimo Moyo, Golden Reef Mining, and Midlands provincial mining director Tariro Ndhlovu from grabbing the mining claims.

Mohamed claims that Anesu Gold is the registered owner of the gold claims in Mberengwa district, Midlands province, which are also referred to as Mangoro claims (Ipanema).
The matter was set for hearing yesterday, but High Court judge Justice Rogers

anyangadze postponed it to February 24 at the request of Chitando’s lawyer, Takudzwa Mutomba who indicated that the minister, together with Moyo and Ndhlovu had secured the services of a new lawyer, Lovemore Madhuku who was tied up elsewhere.

Welshman Ncube is representing Golden Reef Mining while Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara is representing Anesu Gold.
In his application, Mohamed said the mining claims were previously owned by, and registered in the name of Start Mining Services (Private) Limited, where he initially had a 70% stake with the other 30% owned by Rugare Gumbo.

Mohamed said he later bought out Gumbo and now owns 100% shareholding of the claims.
It is alleged that in 2018, Chitando sent invoices for Start Mining Services to pay mining fees for the claims.

Fidelity Printers approved that US$6,4 million must be paid to finance the applicant’s operations, including the payment of the inspection fees for the mining claims.

“This arrangement had the approval of the governor of the Reserve Bank and the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. Fidelity gave the facility on the strength of clean and unencumbered mining claims following a due diligence process,” Mohamed’s court affidavit read.

He said the certificates of registration of the mining claims were handed over to Fidelity in February 2019 followed by a due diligence exercise.

However, he said he was shocked to learn that a special grant had been issued, and his claims forfeited.

Mohamed also alleged that in 2012, Gumbo approached Chitando, before he became Mines minister, asking him to invest in the mining claims but Chitando refused.

Around 2014, Mohamed then invited prominent businessman Shingi Mutasa to invest and he showed interest, but insisted that due diligence checks be done.

Mutasa and Chitando chartered a small plane and flew to inspect the mining claims in loco. After the checks, Mutasa allegedly did not take up the offer.

“Although Mutasa did not come on board, Chitando’s team and himself, had all the data and information of the juicy areas of the mining claims,” Mohamed submitted.

He said Anesu Gold secured an investor from Australia who agreed to form a joint venture, after the investor was assured by Chitando and Ndhlovu that the mining claims were clean and unencumbered.

“It would be the investment’s saddest day if this country is to send an investor back to Australia under these circumstances. This should not be allowed if transparency is to be the order of the day.”

Mohamed said Chitando was a director of Golden Reef and shareholder through his company Windev Investments (Pvt) Limited, adding that the decision to forfeit the mining claims was “wrongful, unlawful, malicious, illegal” and motivated by greed.

But Gold Reef argued that Mohamed and Anesu Gold had no legal right to bring the case before the courts.

“The invoices for payment of inspection fees were issued to Start Mining Services and not applicant. Forfeiture made reference to Start Mining Services as the holder of the mining claims being forfeited,” Gold Reef director, Thomas Gono said.

“Accordingly, hence it is submitted that if any of the mining claims belong to applicant, no lawful and accurate procedure, as prescribed by law, was followed to change names on certificates of registration after transfer. Equally the fact that Minister Winston Chitando’s company Windev Investments is a shareholder in first respondent has no material bearing on how applicant lost mining rights over mining claims in question.”

Gono said there was nothing illegal about Chitando being a director or shareholder in a certain company, adding that the mining claims in question were forfeited two months before inspection fees were paid, meaning that the applicant had defaulted.

In his opposing affidavit, Ndhlovu said Anesu Gold was invoiced for payment of already overdue inspection fees, adding that the mining claims were forfeited in terms of section 260 of the Mines Act. Newsday

5 Border Jumpers Jailed 1yr In Botswana

By A Correspondent- Five Zimbabwean border jumpers have been sentenced to a one-year jail term each for irregular entry.

They were also being accused of illegally panning for gold in Francistown, Botswana but the court acquitted them of the charge due to lack of evidence.

Msix Moyo (42), Phumulani Moyo (27), Peter Moyo (23), Attiwel Ndlovu (23) and a 17-year-old juvenile denied the illegal mining charge when they appeared before Francistown chief magistrate Mareledi Dipate.

They, however, admitted to the charge of irregular entry into the neighbouring country.

In mitigation of the irregular entry charge, Phumulani and Peter pleaded with the court not to hand them a custodial sentence.

Notwithstanding, the magistrate sentenced them to one year in prison backdated to the time they were incarcerated following their arrest on November 15,
2021.

The court heard that the Botswana Defence Forces arrested the five on November 15 last year while they were allegedly panning for gold at Old Matsiloje Mine.

They were handed over to the police and were found with two bags full of stones suspected to be gold ore.

After probing, the police discovered that they were illegal immigrants who entered the country through the Ramokgwebana Border Post without documents.-newsday

Two Raffingora Men Jailed 18 Years For Sodomizing Brother’s Son (10)

Two Raffingora men took turns to sodomise their brother’s 10-year-old son in a dastardly act that has landed one of them in jail.

Smart Madzuramendi (44) of Mafuta village was convicted by Chinhoyi regional magistrate, Ignatius Mugova, of aggravated indecent assault in terms of Section 66 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act 9:23.

His accomplice and younger brother Obert Mudzuramendi is still on the run.

The state case, led by Nyasha Sibesha, was that on March 7, 2020, the boy was herding donkeys in the company of his uncles in the Mafuta farm grazing area when the incident happened.

The court heard that the two men then pounced on the unsuspecting child and took turns to sodomise him.

After committing the heinous act, the assailants threatened to inflict harm on the boy if he reported the matter to anyone.

However, the victim narrated his ordeal to his grandmother who in turn made a police report, leading to Obert’s arrest.

Cancer Patients Stranded As Parirenyatwa Hospital’s 3 Radiotherapy Machines Break Down

By A Correspondent- Thousands of cancer patients have been left stranded after Parirenyatwa Hospital’s three radiotherapy machines broke down.

Radiation is used to treat at least 50% of all cancer cases. It can be either corrective or relaxing, depending on the stage and prognosis of the disease.

The radiotherapy machines at Parirenyatwa are said to have been down for the past 18 days, with authorities trying to bring in foreign engineers and the required spares to repair them.

Stranded patients who require the services are now vulnerable to further spread of the cancerous cells, as well as suffering immense pain.

Lovemore Makurirofa from the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe said interruption of cancer treatment was a major drawback in the recovery of patients. Makurirofa said:

It is critical that when radiotherapy is commenced, it should not be interrupted. The breaking down of the machines means that there may be certain cancer patients who were on treatment, but of which treatment will be now interrupted. The results are that it will give an opportunity for the cancer to spread.

Radiotherapy relieves pain by shrinking the cancer cells, and so without the machines, it means many patients are experiencing a lot of pain, especially those on palliative care.

Parirenyatwa Hospital spokesperson Lenos Dhire said the interruption in the provision of radiotherapy services started on January 17, 2022, due to the breakdown of equipment.

This is not the first time that the machines have broken down. Over the years, this critical service has been interrupted despite the fact that Parirenyatwa is one of the country’s two major referral centres for cancer patients.

Mpilo Hospital is the other centre, but its machines also face similar challenges and patients often travel to Harare for radiotherapy.-newsday

Son Beheads Mother, Burns Remains

By- The skull suspected to be that of Juliet Chapfuruka (65), who was allegedly murdered in cold blood in Mudzi was recovered near a shallow grave she was buried by the suspect on Monday.

Chapfuruka from Maruza Village, Chief Nyamukoho in Mudzi ,was allegedly killed by her son Jephat Nyakutira, (28) who is reportedly mentally challenged.

Reports say after beheading his mother, Jephat allegedly tried to burn her remains but failed and went on to dig a shallow grave where he buried the body without the head.

Reports say the skull was later found by the deceased’s daughter-in-law, Muchaneta Kanyepa (27), in a bushy area in the same village near the shallow grave and she informed her husband who then alerted the police.
Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East Province, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, confirmed the latest development adding that the deceased’s son, Jephat, had since been arrested in connection with the issue.
“On February 7, 2022 around 5am, the deceased’s son Shadreck Nyakutira (31) and his wife, Muchaneta Kanyepa, conducted a search for the missing head of the deceased. Kanyepa discovered the skull believed to be of the deceased in a bushy area and she informed her husband who then covered the skull with a metal dish and later informed the police.
“Around 10 am, ZRP Nyamapanda attended the scene where they discovered that the skull was found about 85 metres from where the deceased was previously buried and also that the skull had no jaws. It was conveyed to Kotwa Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem,” Inspector Chazovachiyi said.

Reports say that on February 2, 2022, the deceased’s neighbour Serinah Chitonho (43), went to check for Chapfuruka at her homestead but could not find her.
Allegations are that she questioned the deceased’s son, Jephat, who was present at the homestead but he professed ignorance on his mother’s whereabouts.
Chitonho informed the deceased’s relative Persuade Mvundura about her missing relative and the duo teamed up and conducted a search.
It is said that while conducting the search, the duo came across a fresh grave in the field of the deceased, about 52 metres from her homestead. The duo became suspicious and dug the grave resulting in the discovery of the remains of Chapfuruka.
Mvundura allegedly went on to make a police report over the case and police officers from Nyamapanda attended to the scene and noted the body of the deceased lying facing upwards with no head and in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body had signs of it having been burnt and as police made a closer scrutiny of the surroundings. Officers discovered a fireplace where the suspect is believed to have attempted to burn the deceased’s body.

A search for the head was carried out around the area of the scene and the search team recovered a human jaw, teeth and grey hair near the shallow grave.

Passion Java Blocks Harare CBD

By- George Silundika Avenue has been closed for the past two days to allow controversial preacher and Zanu PF sympathiser Passion Java to record a music video.

Business came to a standstill at the corner of First Street and George Silundika Monday as people jostled for a piece of the action.
The video is for Uncle Epatan’s song titled ‘Kopo,’ a word which the prophet usually uses in his conversations.

But, it was Prophet Passion, who stole the show, as he had to be escorted by bouncers as many people asked him for handouts saying “siya something” – the phrase popularised by Zim dancehall chanter Enzol Ishall.

A few were complaining about the legality of having to close part of a street for two days for a video shoot.
But, the City of Harare said everything was done above board.
Council spokesperson, Michael Chideme, Monday said Passion Java followed all the regulations pertaining to the closure of part of George Silundika Avenue, to shoot the music video.
The street was packed and people and motorists were forced to use alternative routes.
Chideme said barricading streets for video shoot purposes was not only allowed but encouraged.
“Anyone can apply to Council if they want to close a road for a video shoot,” he said.
“Passion Java actually did things by the book. He applied with us and was given permission to do the video.
“We actually love the shooting of videos in the streets of Harare because it actually promotes Brand Harare.”
In an interview with H-Metro, Passion said they were shooting visuals of the song ‘‘Kopo’’ by Uncle Epatan featuring X-Faya.
He said the song provokes feelings of nostalgia.
“The song we are shooting here is called Kopo. We are just trying to bring back the old days because our kids have lost the taste of what we were when we were kids.
“That’s why in this song we are singing ‘simoreya amhinakadeya’ because these are the songs we grew up singing and we want those songs to remain alive in this generation and next generations.
“We basically want to bring back the old feeling so that today’s children know the old languages like ‘kopo’ and other things too.”
The prophet said they decided to shoot the video near First Street because they want to promote Harare.
“We decided to do the video in First Street because we want people to feel the Harare vibe or atmosphere.
“Mostly, when people visit Harare or enter this capital city, they pass through First Street.
“It is the heart of this capital. It is the main reason we decided to do the shoot here.
“So, we applied and got the approval and here we are shooting. It is also for raising our brand as Passion Java Records.”
Passion has revealed he is also helping Karoi-based chanter X-Faya, who is featuring on Epatan’s song.
“This song has Uncle Epatan and X-Faya. X-Faya was actually in Karoi. We had to drive there and pick him up and get a place to rent for him and a car.
“The reason is to uplift the youths and the future generation,” he said. H Metro

Chakwera Throws Bushiri Under The Bus

By Agencies- Malawi Justice Redson Kapindu on Tuesday ordered the Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court to proceed with extradition proceedings involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.

The fugitive pair is wanted in South Africa for money laundering and fraud.
The self-proclaimed prophet and his wife are accused of fraud, theft, and money laundering in an investment scam that allegedly defrauded investors to the tune of R102 million.
In addition, Bushiri faces eight counts of rape.
The Bushiris and their co-accused were released on bail in June last year before the couple made their escape to their home country Malawi.
Speaking to supporters on social media soon after his arrival in Malawi, Bushiri said his decision to skip bail was “a tactical withdrawal meant to preserve lives”.
The state had also presented the court with a conundrum over the requirement for a South African official to travel all the way to Malawi to present the extradition request.
Dealing with this issue, which had also stalled the matter, Judge Kapindu made alternative suggestions.
He suggested that the matter could be resolved by having virtual testimony from the South African official as had become the norm during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Alternatively, a competent South African court could hear the testimony and forward it to the Malawi high court.
Known for his lavish lifestyle and preference for slick suits, 38-year-old Bushiri is often described as one of the wealthiest religious leaders in Africa with a fortune estimated at R2.3 billion.
His possessions reportedly include private jets, a fleet of luxury cars, and various properties – some of which have since been seized by South African authorities. –

Police Round Up 26 000 Motorists

By- The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced that they had arrested over 25 600 motorists.

The motorists, the police said, were either caught driving unregistered cars or plate-less and unlicensed vehicles.

National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said all their operations targeting illegal activities in the country were continuing until there is sanity.

“The ZRP reports that a total of 179 motorists were arrested throughout the country under the ongoing operation against unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered motor vehicles and non-complying public service vehicles. The cumulative arrests now stand at 25 686,” he said.
The operation comes after early this month, the Zimbabwe Republic Police warned motorists driving unregistered vehicles that they had embarked on an operation targeting such cars.
The operation also comes after an increase in crime perpetrated by some motorists with unregistered cars.

According to police, there is no special exemption for anyone, including Government vehicles to move around without any registration number plates.
Police were also deeply concerned by the deliberate disregard of road traffic regulations by drivers of unregistered vehicles and those without number plates.
Unregistered and plate-less vehicles are also being used to commit crimes such as robberies, murder, kidnapping, rape and other heinous crimes.

Maid Hits Employer USD75K

A 34-year-old Harare maid has appeared in court on allegations of teaming up with her accomplice, a gardener to steal US$75 000 and 121 000 rands from their employer.
Taurai Shonhiwa was facing theft charges when she appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Yeukai Dzuda.

She was remanded out of custody to February 22.

Allegations are that sometime in January, the complainant placed cash amounting to US$75 000 and 121 000 rand in his safe that was in the bedroom for safe keeping.

It is alleged that Shonhiwa and Tatenda Ngirazi were not allowed to enter the bedroom although they had access to the bedroom keys.

The court heard that during the period between January 2020 and February 2022 Shonhiwa and Ngirazi hatched a plan to steal from the complainant and used the key to unlawfully open the bedroom door to gain entry.

They then used unknown means to open the safe and took cash amounting US$75 000 and 121 000 rand on different occasions shared the money and went away.

However, the accused person’s accomplice left his hat on the scene.

It is the State’s case that on February 3, the complainant decided to use the money from the safe and when he took the safe keys he noticed that the keys had been tempered with and also discovered that the money was missing.

The complainant allegedly called Ngirazi and he asked him about the whereabouts of the missing money and he voluntarily confirmed that he took the money and implicated Shonhiwa.

Ngirazi allegedly narrated how he shared the money with Shonhiwa and how he used some of the money to buy a motor vehicle, a Toyota Ipsum.

The complainant apprehended the duo and handcuffed Ngirazi who then fled on their way to the police.- State Media

Cancer Patients Stranded

State Media – Thousands of cancer patients have been left stranded after Parirenyatwa Hospital’s three radiotherapy machines broke down.

Radiation is used to treat at least 50% of all cancer cases. It can be either curative or palliative, depending on the stage and prognosis of the disease.

The radiotherapy machines at Parirenyatwa are said to have been down for the past 18 days, with authorities frantically trying to bring in foreign engineers and the required spares to repair them.

Stranded patients who require the services are now vulnerable to further spread of the cancerous cells, as well as suffering immense pain.

Lovemore Makurirofa from the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe said interruption of cancer treatment was a major drawback in the recovery of patients.

“It is critical that when radiotherapy is commenced, it should not be interrupted. The breaking down of the machines means that there may be certain cancer patients who were on treatment, but of which treatment will be now interrupted. The results are that it will give an opportunity for the cancer to spread,” Makurirofa said.

“Radiotherapy relieves pain by shrinking the cancer cells, and so without the machines, it means many patients are experiencing a lot of pain, especially those on palliative care,” he further explained that patients would face a lot of emotional challenges.

“They require a lot of counselling in order to understand this predicament.”

This is not the first time that the machines have broken down. Over the years, this critical service has been interrupted despite the fact that Parirenyatwa is one of the country’s two major referral centres for cancer patients.

Mpilo Hospital is the other centre, but its machines also face similar challenges and patients often travel to Harare for radiotherapy.

Parirenyatwa Hospital spokesperson Lenos Dhire said: “We had an interruption in the provision of radiotherapy services from January 17, 2022 due to breakdown of equipment.”

He said provision of radiotherapy was key to holistic cancer management, thus the hospital and the parent ministry were seized with the matter.

“Concerted efforts are underway to ensure that the required spares and the foreign engineers are urgently brought in to fix the problem. The spares and engineers to fix the machines are not available locally‚” Dhire said.

For years, health stakeholders have implored authorities to ensure there is a local technician to repair the machines instead of depending on foreign skills.

“We hope to restore the services as soon as possible. The hospital is, however, still providing all other services with regards to cancer treatment as guided by our specialist oncologists,” Dhire said.

Radiotherapy may be used in the early stages of cancer or after it has started to spread, and is considered as the most effective cancer treatment after surgery. -Newsday

Chaotic Stampede For Form 1 Places

State Media – Commotion and long queues were the order of the day at secondary schools in Bulawayo yesterday as parents rushed to secure Form One places for their children.

This follows release of 2021 Grade Seven examination results on Friday, which parents started collecting on Monday.

Although the first term calendar began this week for the rest of the classes, Form Ones will commence learning next week Monday after securing places.

The delay in the release of results was occasioned by a Covid-19 shift in the school calendar in the third term of 2021, which saw the marking process spilling into January.

A Chronicle news crew conducted a snap survey yesterday morning, which revealed that most secondary schools were inundated with demand for Form One places.

There was commotion at the entrance of several high-performing centres such Mpopoma, St Columba’s and Sizane High schools, while other schools also had large numbers.

The security guards had a torrid time trying to control crowds as parents sought to be served first and were told to join the queue.

At Sizane, school authorities were ushering in parents based on the number of units passes per candidate starting with the best performers.

However, parents complained that the process was slow and suggested that an online registration system was the best.

There was a long queue at Mpopoma where boxes were stationed at the main gate and parents would depose their application letters.

They were required to provide a copy of results, birth certificates and ED12 forms. A long queue was also seen at St Columba’s in Makokoba.

Those parents/guardians wishing to send their children to boarding schools were advised to upload their children’s results on the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s electronic platform:www.emap.co.zw.

In separate interviews, parents expressed frustration over the pressure involved when applying for Form One places and complained that the procedures demanded by schools were cumbersome.

Mr Bhekifa Ndlovu, a parent who was at Sizane, said day schools must introduce an online application system so as to reduce the burden on applicants who are forced to spend many hours without being served.

“Trying to secure a place is very stressful, the errands are just too much and you have to leave everything or take off days from work moving from one school to another dropping application forms,” he said.

“We came to Sizane at around 7AM and the process is dragging but because we need the place, we are patient even if we are not sure whether we will get the places or not.

“Only if they could just tell us their cut off points it would be better, but right now they said just wait here, we are starting from six units we will tell you when we have reached our enrolment limit.”

The parents complained that the Government has given them limited time to secure places and that preparation time for other logistics was shorter.

“The challenge is that if I fail to secure the place today (Tuesday) up to Thursday, I’ll be left with Friday to get the place and buy all school requirements because my child is expected at school on Monday,” said the parent.

“Only if the Government would have mercy, and introduce a system like that of boarding schools, whereby application is done online, things would be better. We will be able to apply at more than five schools in one day.”

Ms Sidumisile Ncube, who was at Mpopoma, said as parents they have always been ready but were delayed by the release of results. -Chronicle

S*x Starved Man M*sturbates In Front Of Kids

Masvingo – Tambudzai Kuvengewenyu (Mai 3), a sex worker from Mucheke in Masvingo is traumatized by her boyfriend who mastu*s in front of her three triplets doing Grade 6 each time she refuses him sex.

The matter was revealed at Masvingo Magistrates Court where Kuvengewenyu reported Shariff Dracoss (36) for breach of a peace order.

The Mirror heard that Dracoss of number 5 Robertson Street Masvingo is in the habit of visiting his girlfriend in Mucheke in broad daylight and demanding sex in front of the little girls and if that is not granted, he helps himself in their full view.

Kuvengewenyu who stays with her kids in a single room was granted a peace order against Dracoss in April last year. The order barred the latter from visiting his girlfriend but Dracoss has been breaching the order.

Kuvengewenyu told Masvingo Magistrate Grace Tupiri that she met Dracoss in 2021. She was walking in town and he approached her for a short time.

“I took him to my place of lodging in Mucheke and from that day Dracoss visits me and if I refuse sex he masturbates in front my triplets who are 12 years old,” said Kuvengewenyu.

Dracos denied the allegations and said instead it was Kuvengewenyu who visited his workplace soliciting for sex.

Magistrate Tupiri found Dracoss guilty and reserved judgement.

School Heads, Teachers Protest At Poor Salaries

Tinashe Sambiri|For the first time, school heads and teachers have come together in the struggle for decent salaries.

Vibrant teachers’ union, ARTUZ has vowed to fight to the bitter as the perennial battle between government and civil servants continues.

Citizens’ Coalition For Change has challed Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to address teachers’ grievances as a matter of urgency.

“School heads have joined teachers strike after they declared incapacitation.

Teachers want a dignified life where they’re able to fulfill their potential, which is based on having a human level of health care, education, income & security.

What You Need To Know About Cancer Screening

Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death, and its burden is growing. In 2021, the world crossed a sobering new threshold – an estimated 20 million people were diagnosed with cancer, and 10 million died. These numbers will continue to rise in the decades ahead. And yet all cancers can be treated, and many can be prevented or cured.

Care for cancer, however, like so many other diseases, reflects the inequalities and inequities of our world. The clearest distinction is between high- and low-income countries, with comprehensive treatment reportedly available in more than 90% of high-income countries but less than 15% of low-income countries.

Similarly, the survival of children diagnosed with cancer is more than 80% in high-income countries, and less than 30% in low- and middle-income countries. And breast cancer survival five years after diagnosis now exceeds 80% in most high-income countries, compared with 66% in India and just 40% in South Africa.

Furthermore, a recent WHO survey found that cancer services are covered by a country’s largest, government health financing scheme in an estimated 37% of low- and middle-income countries, compared to at least 78% of high-income countries. This means that a cancer diagnosis has the potential to push families into poverty, particularly in lower-income countries, an effect that has been exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Closing the care gap

For all of these reasons, the theme for this year’s World Cancer Day is “closing the care gap”.

And fortunately, much is being done to bring quality cancer care to countries for which, up until now, it has been out of reach.

WHO’s efforts are focused on breast cancer, now the most common cancer; cervical cancer, that can be eliminated; and childhood cancer. The focus for each of these initiatives is low- and middle-income countries, where the biggest public health gains are to be made.

These integrated global cancer initiatives are being implemented by more than 200 partners around the world, including many development banks who have significantly increased their investments in cancer research, prevention and care.

National cancer centres: key to a comprehensive approach

Experience has shown the importance of national cancer centres in ensuring a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment. Bringing services for prevention, diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment and supportive care together in one place makes it easier for patients to navigate services and leads to a greater concentration of expertise, and subsequently better health outcomes. Furthermore, cancer centres serve as training and research hubs, and in this way, help build country capacity and expertise.

Setting Up a Cancer Centre: a WHO-IAEA Framework, being released by the World Health Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency for World Cancer Day, proposes a framework for both establishing a cancer centre and strengthening the provision of services in existing centres. Intended for policy-makers, programme managers and health professionals, it provides details of the infrastructure, human resources and equipment required for essential services, taking into consideration local context and resources available.

Facilitating decisions on screening

Screening is another important element of comprehensive cancer prevention and control but decisions on what to include in a cancer programme require consideration of a number of complex factors. To support decision-making on such issues in countries, WHO has just released A short guide to cancer screening. Increase effectiveness, maximize benefits and minimize harm.

Reinvigorated efforts to increase access to radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is among the most cost-effective, efficient and widely-used cancer treatments, and may be considered as a treatment option for an estimated half of cancer patients. Despite being a critical component of cancer care, however, worldwide access to radiotherapy is still inadequate, particularly in lower-income countries.

To reinvigorate efforts to address this problem, WHO is joining forces with the IAEA, as it launches Rays of Hope. This new project will prioritize a limited number of high-impact, cost-effective and sustainable interventions in line with national needs and commitment, starting in Africa.

Scale-up critical given the impact of the pandemic

Increased efforts to scale up high quality cancer programmes at international, national and community levels are all the more important given disruption to cancer programmes during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a survey published in October 2021, more than half of countries reporting indicated that cancer screening and treatment had been partially or completely disrupted during the pandemic.

By collaboration, commitment and solidarity, however, hope can be provided to the many millions of people for whom cancer treatment has in the past been little more than a dream.

A self-styled prophet was arrested recently in the Chief Musikavanhu area after he allegedly opened fire on a 46-year-old man as he accused him of stealing his goats.

The incident happened in Chidzvururwi Village in Chief Musikavanhu’s area. Villagers and members of the apostolic sect who were present were left in shock.

The self-proclaimed prophet, Bond Junior Gumira Machiya (28), who is from Harare, shot his victim once on the left shoulder.

It is alleged Machaya shot Phineas Muumbe shortly after he had given him (the complainant), US$100 for unknown reasons.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) acting spokesperson in Manicaland Province Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident. He said:

Machiya who is a Harare-based prophet of an apostolic sect and Muumbe are neighbours and every time Machiya visits his rural home, he would dish out groceries as well as money to his followers.

Muumbe heard screams coming from Machiya’s house and went there to investigate what was happening.

He found Machiya armed with a pistol pointed to the ground. Machiya fired a single shot. He then gave Muumbe US$100 before accusing him of stealing his goats.

He then pointed the firearm at Muumbe and shot him once on the left shoulder.

Muumbe was assisted by Nonsima Mujere who went on to report the matter to the police.

“My Wife Is Obsessed With Men “

A Kwekwe magistrate has granted a protection order in favour of a man who accused his wife of abusing him, including by collecting phone numbers of “every man.”

Malvin Mupezeni of Kwekwe had dragged his wife, Nomaxolo Sibanda, to Kwekwe Magistrates Court for emotional abuse.

He alleged that his wife habitually came home late in the night and drunk, and collected phone numbers of “every man”, and called them at night. He said:

I am tired of my wife’s behaviour, she comes home drunk in the middle of the night.

She collects every man’s phone number and communicates with them during the night, making endless calls.

She comes home drunk in the middle of the night and if I ask her about her whereabouts, she tells me that she had been arrested by Police for failure to wear a face mask.

In her defence, Sibanda said her husband’s problem is talkativeness.

She said as a cook, she interacts with different people including men who constitute the greater percentage of her customers. Sibanda said:

However, magistrate Mildred Matuvi ruled in Mupezeni’s favour and granted him a protection order against his wife.- New Ziana

Lawyers Press Chigumba To Release ID Statistics

By- Human rights lawyers have pressed the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) to provide information pertaining to the number of people issued with national identity documents to justify its rollout of the current voter registration exercise.

In a letter addressed to Zec chairperson Priscilla Chigumba yesterday, the ZLHR requested that she must provides it with the number of people that have been issued with identity documents after the commission cancelled an earlier exercise on the pretext that the targeted population had no identity documents.
“The question is what has changed from November 24, 2021 to January 13, 2022 on the issuance of identity document to call for a voter registration blitz?” the ZLHR letter to Chigumba read.
“It is on this premise, and in line with the electoral commission’s mandate to be accountable and transparent, that you furnish us with the number of people who were issued with identity documents to necessitate voter registration. We remind you that the Constitution, the Freedom of Information Act and the Electoral Act have provisions allowing us to access this information from you,” the letter read.
Zec is yet to respond.
Initially, Zec had announced that the mobile voter registration process would take place from December 6, 2021, but postponed it to February 2022 to allow eligible persons to acquire national identity documents that are requisite for voter registration.
Many aspiring voter registrants are being turned away over lack of identity documents.

Passion Java Shuts Down Harare For Video Shooting

By- George Silundika Avenue has been closed for the past two days, to allow controversial preacher and Zanu PF sympathiser Passion Java to record a music video.

H Metro

Mbappe will become a free agent at the end of the season and is now eligible to speak to other clubs that he has entered the final six months of his PSG deal.

How Did Susan Mutami Gain Bedroom-Access To All These Men?

By A Correspondent | INVESTIGATIVE | Just as ZimEye exclusively revealed in 2021, Zanu PF informer and socialite Susan Mutami this January came out into the public with one only child, contrary to previous claims that she has twins with Norton Law-maker Temba Mliswa.

Last year, the controversial Australia-based Mutami went to town claiming that she was having torrid times with pregnancy carrying Mliswa’s twins.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW…

Hon Musanhi with Susan Mutami (2020)

ZimEye.com early 2021 exposed Mutami’s several bedroom scandals, which included  government ministers and top Army Generals, at a time her own family said she has also bedded the ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa, allegations which the coup leader, up to the time of writing, has not denied.

The below is a trail of event twists that involved high profile ministers caught between two scandals, one on the sale of stands, and one of trappings using a self proclaimed anti-terrorism expert, Susan Mutami.

It was all triggered when earlier in the year, the Special Anti Corruption Unit head, Thabani Mpofu was close to arresting Local Govt Minister, July Moyo over the alleged sale of stands in Harare, Kwekwe and Gweru for his own benefit.

There were several beneficiaries listed on this reported scandal who are in the ministry of Justice; so to hide this, a quick plan was hatched to get Mpofu fired.

Owen Ncube

Mpofu, who leads the controversial taskforce, was swiftly accused of authoring letters for MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti advising the opposition icon on ways if navigating through the justice system.

Close sources allege that, when this was about to happen, the Norton MP Temba Mliswa went over to president, Emmerson Mnangagwa to advise him to ignore the calls to fire Mpofu, doing this in order to settle scores with the enemy of an enemy (Mliswa had heard that Thabani Mpofu had been set up by July Moyo, Owen Ncube, and Virginia Mabhiza). Mliswa has had several bones to chew with Thabani Mpofu. Mliswa reasoned with Mnangagwa saying: how could Thabani Mpofu author letters for MDC Deputy President Tendai Biti in this age and time when he could simply pick a phone call.

Parallel to all this, Temba Mliswa was the subject of an ongoing probe in which he was entangled with ex girlfriend, Susan.

Facts became clear mid February that, Susan Mutami, the centre of the axis, was used to incriminate Mliswa.

Mutami is an enigma. She claims she bedded the late SB Moyo, Killer Zivhu, Temba Mliswa. She is even openly  announces saying she has bedded the President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

She says she has Mliswa’s twins, while at the same time naming her son after his arch enemy, Owen Ncube.

5 LOVERS, 2 PREGNANCIES TO 2 DIFFERENT MEN, ALL IN ONE YEAR

Last year alone she dated at least four different men who include the Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo, one after the other:

Polite Kambamura, the Mining Deputy Minister (they were engaged). Walter Chikwana, Secretary for the Judicial Commission (they had a civil partnership in 2020), and ZANU PF MP, Hon Kenneth Musanhi (see pictures).

Furthermore, an affidavit seen by ZimEye states in addition that she was already pregnant way before bedding Mliswa last year.

The affidavit, certified by the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), shows that as at around March 2020, she was still engaged to another man, who works inside the JSC, Mr Walter Chikwana.

The man was reached for a comment but wouldn’t speak or respond to questions.

Meanwhile, the affidavit states that Mutami was carrying a pregnancy to another man at the end of March 2020. In the affidavit, her boyfriend, Mr Chikwana says:

+

‘ I am Susan Vivian Mutami’s partner and in case of emergency I can be contacted on the above mentioned address or on my mobile number, +263772***********”

He then goes on to say he is the legal guardian of SB Moyo’s Child (full name redacted-in accordance with the Children’s Act on the paper).

” I am also the legal guardian of (name withheld), and our unborn child as of date. Attached hereto is a copy of my identification.”

The affidavit was signed on the 24th March 2020.

Affidavit

The development puts burden on Mutami to explain the timing drama surrounding her two pregnancies (to different men) which are within months of each other.

She also says that she is the holder of two Australian degrees of which she has none, and also makes false claims that she is the winner of Australia’s CEO awards. During interviews with Mutami, ZimEye reveals how that her claims to university courses are baseless.

She is also put to task on her CEO Awards claim, and it is revealed that she was only a passerby at the function who posed in front of a camera holding someone else’s award. (SEE RGM INTERVIEW BELOW)

Her ex lover, Mliswa has maintained his allegations that he was set up by the Central Intelligence Organisation in order to incriminate him using Susan Mutami.

After all this she is lawfully stopped while trying to leave the country, and then she is put under the custody of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
Mutami is held for possessing details on the attempted assassination of the president and killing of three aides at the White City Stadium, then she is whisked out by two powerful ministers who have close links to the president, July Moyo (local governments), Owen Mudha Ncube, minister of state security. After being whisked out without knowledge of the mother body of the CIO, she then starts to attack to the Director General of the CIO, who she claims she once dated, then threatening to release secret information on the cabinet, Politburo and a number of other official secrets, while on the same tweet, absolving the two ministers, July Moyo and Owen Mudha Ncube.

At this time, July Moyo is under investigations for parceling out land, a case being probed by Thabani Mpofu’s SACU organisation.

July Moyo is very close to permanent Secretary Mrs Virginia Mabhiza and Kumbirai Hodzi, the prosecutor General. At the same time, Thabani Mpofu’s SACU is having clashes with the Prosecutor General. There was a collusion between the Prosecutor Gen and July Moyo to get Thabani Mpofu fired. The PG and July Moyo then approached the president Emmerson Mnangagwa to pass allegations that Thabani Mpofu has advised Biti.

The event trail is as follows:

Thabani Mpofu is accused of writing WhatsApp letters to MDC Alliance MP Tendai Biti giving him advice on how to return to parliament, and this makes the president very angry. At this time, Mnangagwa has also been told by Perm Sec Virginia Mabhiza, and Prosecutor Gen Kumbirai Hodzi, to ignore the request to arrest Minister July Moyo on land fraud.

Mnangagwa then summons Thabani Mpofu to State House where he is dressed down. It is reported that Mpofu has been fired. ZimEye contacts Mpofu who tells this news network, it’s not true at all. Are you my employer?, Mpofu fires a question while answering to the report.

Soon afterwards, Temba Mliswa who is naturally against Mpofu, comes to the rescue of Mpofu to tell the President that Mpofu has been set up. Thabani Mpofu also gets support of the CIO DG Isaac Moyo. This angers July Moyo who together with Owen Ncube sponsor Susan Mutami to tweet ‘some dirt’ on Isaac Moyo while absolving July Moyo and Owen Ncube publicly, on the Twitter website.

State security sources report saying Mutami was whisked out of Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border post. ZimEye requests paperwork to confirm that the escape was truly through that border post. No date is provided, but by end of April 2021, she is now safely in Australia.

Both Owen Ncube and July Moyo are contacted for a comment, and their phones are put down soon after hearing the interview questions.

Responding to the state security reports, Mliswa denies ever approaching Mnangagwa to assist Mpofu. He tells ZimEye: “Mpofu, Matanga, Mudha, July Moto, and Ziyambi Ziyambi are all one and the same, working hand-in-hand.”

It surfaces that Mutami is an agent of July Moyo and his team to settle their matters with Director General, Isaac Moyo. Thabani Mpofu then suddenly comes out the victim of the two warning camps.

The development has raised questions on how safe Zimbabweans are when ministers and two officials are using a woman to settle their personal scores. Is Zimbabwe is being run by people controlled by bottom power, or is it that Susan Mutami has some ability to capture all these people, or she is so dazzling to control the nation’s top government officials?

Level Of Cluelessness In Zanu PF Puzzling

Tinashe Sambiri|The level of cluelessness in Zanu PF is puzzling, Citizens’ Coalition For Change ( Namibia) has said.

The Citizens’ Coalition For Change has also denounced police brutality- following the persecution of party members at the weekend.

CCC members were arrested for distributing party fliers in central Gweru.

See statement below:

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia totally condemns state-sponsored violence and arbitrary arrests in the motherland.

08 February 2022

It is quite infuriating to learn that the Zanupf-controlled police and other state security agents descended on social democrats who were peacefully compaigning for the people’s Honourable, Organ Chibaya ahead of the March 2022 by-elections.

Namibia district is cognisant of the high levels of cluelessness and desperation in Zanupf and their surrogates as they are visibly jumping form pillar to pole meditating on their impending peril.

The violence unleashed at our diligent change seekers in Gweru on Sunday is a clear testament to Zanupf panic mode.

What perturbs social democrats in Namibia is that Zanupf and MdcT led by Douglas Togorasei Mwonzora are allowed to gather with police security agents guarding them but Citizens Coalition For Change is always prohibited resulting in unlawful arrests and torture of constitutional fighters. Our message to Zanupf and their counterfeit democrats is that they should know that President Advocate Nelson Chamisa is fully a Zimbabwean citizen entitled to his rights and civil liberties to lead this party of excellence.

Moreso, the dismal failure by the satanic regime to safeguard the rule of law and promoting democratic governance must be seriously confronted through a wholesale demand for comprehensive electoral and political reforms before 2023 harmonised elections. How can the polls be guaranteed credibility when diverse players are denied the political liberty and freedom to campaign for their candidates? This selective application of the law should be resisted with equal measure. It very clear that the playing is uneven as we gear up for 2023. Why unleashing armed police and soldiers to defenceless civilians entitled to their fundamental basic human right? Zimbabwe really needs new leaders who are ready to respect the universal human rights.

What mesmerises Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia is that if the state is unleashing terror and violence a year before elections what about in 2023 when the cobra-headed citizenry show up displaying their commitment and dedication to join the Yellow Revolution.

On Sunday, dozens of citizens in Gweru were arbitrarily arrested after showing their extraordinary support to the recalled Honourable Organiser Amos Chibaya. It was regrettable to see state agents armed with AK47 unleashing teargas and terror on the citizens in Gweru, this is undemocratic and beyond nonsense to deny citizens their right to belong to the Yellow Marine led by none other than our dynamic, organic and pragmatic leader President Advocate Nelson Chamisa (Wamba dia Wamba).

During the previous week we saw our Honourable Judith Tobaiwa’s campaign vehicle being impounded, stickers and banners removed in Kwekwe. This is pathetic and undemocratic in a purported ‘New Dispensation’! Social democrats across the globe should constitutionally pent up their outrage against this gross abuse of human freedoms in Zimbabwe.

The African Commission’s Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression On Africa, adopted at the 32nd session of the African Commission held in October 2002 in Gambia, reaffirms the fundamental importance of freedom of expression as a means of ensuring respect for all human rights, stating that freedom of expression is a fundamental human right and an indispensable component of constitutional democracy. The declaration makes it bare that any restrictions on Freedom of expression should be prescribed by law, serve a legitimate interest and be necessary and in a democratic state.

In a nutshell, Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia’s message to Zanupf and its surrogates is that the desperate party should not override constitutional provisions or in way try to undermine fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution and international standards. We condemn the torture , inhuman and degrading treatment of our revolutionaries because they are an alternative. It is now imperative for intellectual coordination to transpire among democratic fighters so that they can peacefully and constitutionally deal with Zanupf morons.

“The 10 ZESN officials, who are represented by Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, are being taken from a police post at Mbare Musika bus terminus to Mbare Police Station, where police officers say they should be cleared to conduct the voter education exercise by Police Internal Security Intelligence (PISI),” said ZLHR.

Man M*sturbates In Front Of Children After Being Denied S*x

Susan Mutami, 34, Threatens To Rape Journalist’s 95 Year Old Father

By A Correspondent | INVESTIGATIVE | Just as ZimEye exclusively revealed in 2021, Zanu PF informer and socialite Susan Mutami this January came out into the public with one only child, contrary to previous claims that she has twins with Norton Law-maker Temba Mliswa.

Last year, the controversial Australia-based Mutami went to town claiming that she was having torrid times with pregnancy carrying Mliswa’s twins.

She even openly  announces saying she has bedded the President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The affidavit was signed on the 24th March 2020.

CCC demands reforms but will participate in 2023 regardless – “A little learning is a dangerous thing”

By Patrick Guramatunhu- It is not that Zimbabweans do not know that Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections; they know it. Their biggest problem is knowing what to do about it!

“Moreover, as we gear up towards the historic elections in 2023, the citizens should be ready to demand comprehensive political and electoral reforms to jealously guard against perennial rigging by the stomach politicians in Zanu PF led by Mr Mnangagwa,” reads a statement from Citizen Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia.

“We must stand ready to defend the people’s vote against any shenanigans from the desperate regime. Zimbabweans should demand the independence of state media, ZBC must stop operating as an extension of Zanu PF, we need to have real time announcement of results, Citizens Coalition For Change demands the independence of chiefs and headmen, they should not be used to intimidate citizens, frog marching them to Zanu PF rallies on empty stomachs.”

This is a statement from someone with no clue what they are talking about!

One, with just over a year to go to the 2023 elections, there is no time to implement any of the myriad of reforms required to stop Zanu PF rigging these elections. So take it as read; there will be no reforms implemented before the elections and therefore all this talk of “demanding comprehensive political and electoral reforms” is just hot air!

Two, with no reforms, Zanu PF will have carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig these elections. The party will frog marching citizens to attend party rallies and, come voting day, to vote for the party, for example. All the talk “defending the people’s vote against any shenanigans” is, once again, just hot air!

Three, by participating in these flawed and illegal elections against the common-sense position of demanding reforms before elections CCC, the party supporters and all the ordinary Zimbabweans who continue to do so freely are giving flawed process credibility and thus give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. After 42 years of rigged elections, one would think the penny has dropped, no one will still fall for the oxymoronic nonsense of “winning in rigged elections”. Sadly, there are clearly many who still do!

Four, there is nothing to justify CCC supporters’ confidence 2023 elections will deliver a government representing the democratic wishes of the people of Zimbabwe. This is just blind faith in the CCC leaders who have already proven beyond all doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent, notably during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Zimbabweans had the same blind faith in Zanu PF soon after independence. We have learned nothing from the past!

There are many Zimbabweans who are hell bent on participating in these elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF is rigging these elections. They appreciate the importance of voting but, alas, they have never appreciated the importance of observing the rules governing elections. Zanu PF’s carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections have rendered Zimbabwean elections a meaningless farce.

Those insisting on holding elections without reforms have no clue of what constitutes free, fair and credible elections and that by participating they are giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. They have learned about elections but have never learned what it takes to ensure free, fair and credible elections. A little learning is, indeed, a dangerous thing!

“A little learning is a dangerous thing;
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring:
There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
And drinking largely sobers us again.” Alexander Pope, English poet and satirist

Indeed, it is common sense, no need to have drunk deep from Pierian spring, to know the sheer futility of holding elections without something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, for example!

MUCHINGURI SWEATS OVER ARMY DELINQUENCY

Case Alert

7 February 2022

THE Supreme Court will on Tuesday 8 February 2022 hear an appeal filed by Defence and War Veterans Minister Oppah Muchinguri seeking to overturn a High Court decision upholding a lower court’s order regarding a lawsuit filed by a Harare resident seeking compensation for assault during anti-government protests held three years ago.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to preside over the matter at 9:30 AM at Mashonganyika building in Harare.

Muchunguri who is represented by Advocate Lewis Uriri wants the Supreme Court to overturn a High Court ruling dismissing her appeal against the decision of the Magistrates Court on an exception which she filed on Harare resident Kudzai Makunde’s summons.

Makunde, who is represented by Advocate Taona Nyamakura instructed by Tinomuda Shoko of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, filed summons at Harare Magistrates (Civil) Court in 2019 suing Muchinguri, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe and Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga for violating his fundamental rights.

Makunde was assaulted by a group of armed soldiers and police officers numbering about 50 while on his way home from visiting his brother in Tafara high-density in Harare on 14 January 2019 during anti-government protests over fuel price hike.

Shoko and Nyamakura stated that Makunde was ordered to lie on the ground and assaulted with wooden logs on his back and thighs and was also kicked all over his body.

Makunde, Shoko and Nyamakura said, was ordered to remove some burning tyres, rocks and a broken down vehicle that was on the road resulting in him sustaining some injuries of which he was hospitalised.

In her appeal, the Defence, Security and War Veterans Minister is arguing that Makunde’s summons in which he sought compensation for violation of his fundamental rights did not identify the alleged perpetrators  by their names and did not disclose a cause of action
based on vicarious liability against her.

Muchinguri argued that Makunde’s alleged failure to disclose the identities of the perpetrators was fatal to his cause of action.

Makunde had argued that the soldiers who assaulted him were employed by Ministry of Defence, Security and War Veterans and they were acting within the course and scope of their employment.

Muchinguri defended soldiers from committing the offence and instead indicated that some ZRP officers could have assaulted Makunde and also claimed that he could have been beaten by some criminals masquerading as soldiers.

But the Harare resident insists that Muchinguri, Hon. Kazembe and Matanga are in charge of deploying their subordinates and hence they know the identities of their members who operated at specific points on 14 January 2019.

Makunde argued that once he made an allegation against soldiers Muchinguri had a duty to investigate the issue and to identify her members who perpetrated the unlawful acts as well as to discipline them.

ZBC Radio Presenter Duped By Conmen

By -ZBC radio presenter Thabani Gambiza, is among the people who were duped by conmen who claimed they could get funding for various NGOs, a Harare court heard over the weekend.

The suspected conmen, Gilbert Noel Kanokanga and Vernon Eugene Mitchell, appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded them in custody.

The complainants are Gambiza, Joice Jacob, Lorraine Mugayi, Thandiwe Chikwape, Felix Zhakata and Lovemore Chidziva.

The complainants are founders of various non governmental organisations.

The court heard that Gambiza was introduced to Kanokanga by her workmate, Lionel Mkandla, and she was advised he could facilitate funding for her NGO.

She was introduced to Mitchell by Kanokanga and the duo would interview the complainants, from time to time.

Gambiza allegedly paid US$750 for visa processing for her team, for a trip to France, which never materialised.

She also held several meetings with the duo, with regards to the clearance and registration of her organisation, and she was asked to pay more money.

The duo allegedly started misleading other NGOs that Gambiza had already received her funding.

The duo collected about US$69 241 from the complainants. H Metro

The documentary carries interviews from people who were close to the man who lived a fast life and dominated social scenes in newspapers and the internet.

Since his death in 2020, Zimbabwe’s internet streets have not been the same as the man never shied from controversy that saw him endear himself with millions of people who were shocked when news broke out that he had died in an accident.

MDC Has Died, Electorate Urged To Accept It

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has died and the electorate has to accept its death, as no one could resurrect it, exiled former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has said.

Speaking on a Twitter space hosted by CITE on the aftermath of the Nomination Court: By-Elections or Mini General Election, Moyo, a former University of Zimbabwe political science lecturer, said the events leading up to and the sitting of the Nomination Court on 26 January 2022, confirmed the MDC’s demise.

The MDC was formed in 1999 with the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai elected its founding president.

The party has, however, experienced several splits during its short existence and factionalism deepened in March 2020 when the Supreme Court ruled that its popular leader, Nelson Chamisa, was illegitimate.

Moyo asserted that for the first time since 2000, the MDC will not be a major contender in Zimbabwean elections.

He said: “This was a very historic Nomination Court, apart from that for the first time, it had two sittings, it’s been decisive, unprecedented and showed election results before the by-elections on March 26, 2022.

We have before the body politic, amazing results that are the outcome of these by-elections, thanks to the sitting of the Nomination Court.”

Notably among the results is a historic fact that due to the run-up to the sitting, we have one political party dead and this happens after having it been a major feature of national politics since 1999 or if you want since parliamentary elections of 2000.

Early this year, Chamisa dumped the MDC Alliance name after MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora claimed to be the leader of all parties with the MDC acronym.

Chamisa and his allies launched the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), with the new party set to contest the 26 March by-elections.

Said Moyo: “We have one party dead and another party born. I think it is striking and quite surprising that debates on this issue have not unpacked the implications.

The planning on ZANU PF part, in general (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa, in particular, working with Mwonzora, invested a lot of time and resources in a scenario where we were going to have two MDCs or two MDC Alliances.

The fact that Chamisa pulled a fast one on the eve of the Nomination Court, coming up with a new party is something the state of Mnangagwa and ZANU PF obviously thought about, it was not entirely unexpected, but unlikely.

It’s not that they (Chamisa and team) came up with a new party but they came up with one whose immediate impact was to kill anything called the MDC.

Mwonzora had boasted that his MDC-T owned MDC Alliance and all its derivatives, he thought something called MDC was a big deal but the outcome of the Nomination Court has been a surprise to him.

Clearly, he had not bargained for this. I’m sure some of his people wish they had kept the MDC-T and not run as MDC Alliance.

While Chamisa won more than two million votes in the 2018 presidential elections, Mwonzora is yet to lead a political party in a national election.

“They Are Looking For You” – Susan Mutami Warned

Dear Editor.

There are 7 MID officers who are right now looking for Susan Mutami to kill her in Australia. She needs to be smart.

You might not get it, Susan Mutami is Mudha and July Moyo hitting back at Mnangagwa, that’s why there are all these sudden splashes on ED.

Hon Polite Kambamura with Susan Mutami (2020)

Before the November 2017 coup, Emmerson Mnangagwa had a docket of him presented before former president Robert Mugabe.

Susan had gone to see Grace Mugabe and she complained saying Mnangagwa has many women and he is such a monster.

Susan Mutami was swiftly sent to the Australian embassy and would soon be a witness against Mnangagwa; then the coup happened and the court case was never sat and Susan got re-hooked to SB Moyo. Moyo was Constantino Chiwenga’s black eyed boy.

There are right now 7 MID officers who are busy looking for Susan Mutami to eliminate her near her home in Brisbane, in Australia.  If she is smart, she needs to make a quick move.  This might be her only survival.

I also think that CCC people should be weaponising the leaks Susan Mutami is spilling out, because Mnangagwa did a lot of dirty things before and after the coup.

Zanu PF Eyes Urban Vote

By A Correspondent- The ruling ZANU PF party is targeting making inroads into urban constituencies and consolidating its hold in rural areas in the 26 March by-elections.

In a statement on Monday, ZANU PF political commissar Mike Bimha said the party’s leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is expected to launch the party’s by-election campaign this week. Said Bimha:

We note with interest the heightened enthusiasm in the by-elections and the resolve and determination of our members to reassert the power of the ruling party in both urban and rural areas and to consolidate the position of the party in our strongholds.

The by-elections are and should be about the achievements of the Second Republic, not just in launching and driving an agenda for sustainable development, but equally, responding to very specific needs of the people.

ZANU PF is putting faith in the people, the citizens of Zimbabwe to build their own country guided by the policies of the party and government.

We want to win all the constituencies and the entire wards. You don’t go to a battle to lose. We are going into this battle to win.

Our target is to win all the seats in the National Assembly and the local authorities, respectively.

ZANU PF has traditionally been dominant in rural areas while the opposition MDC has been controlling urban seats since the year 2000.

However, by-elections are normally characterised by low voter turnout especially in urban areas and this could work against the country’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), which contested the 2018 elections as the MDC Alliance.

Gvt Threatens No Work No Pay For Absent Teachers

By A Correspondent- The Government has warned teachers who are not reporting for duty citing “incapacitation” that the “no work, no pay” principle will be invoked against them.

Schools opened for the first term on 7 February 2022 amid reports that the majority of school heads and teachers in urban areas did not report for work.

Director of communications in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Taungana Ndoro, said it is the normal procedure “the world over” that sanctions are imposed on employees who fail to report for work.

Said Ndoro:

The normal procedure is that if there is someone who does not report for duty, the normal procedure the world over is that there are remedial actions that are taken by an organisation and one of the measures is not to pay the absent teachers as they might not be part of the ministry anymore.

Ndoro said 60 per cent of teachers nationwide reported for duty on Monday while some educators were still on their way to their workplaces.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) president Richard Gundane teachers may not have travelled to their workstations because they don’t have money for bus fare.

He said:

Those who do not have boarding transport, or who live far away from their workstation might not have reported for duty because they have genuine concerns that they do not have money to do that.

But what we have observed is that there are educators who genuinely reside in the schools such as boarding schools and rural schools and a few who reside in houses that are near urban schools.

Those ones you will find that they are there.

Teachers’ unions declared incapacitation just before schools opened. They are demanding that the Government restore their pre-2018 salaries of roughly US$540 per month.-statemedia

Virtual Court Commissioned

By A Correspondent- The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday officially launched the virtual court system to speed up the completion of cases.

This was after some prisoners failed to turn up in court due to transport and fuel challenges faced by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).

Speaking at the event in Harare, Chief Justice Luke Malaba said: “Carrying out virtual hearings has many advantages – both to the courts and the litigating public. Matters are finalised expeditiously and there is the added advantage of participating in the court proceedings in the comfort of your home or office.”

Chief justice Luke Malaba (left) and Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi (seated)

“Inmates are expected to appear before the courts regularly for routine remands and trials. The pandemic has at times caused inmates not to appear before the courts as required because of the restrictions imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19. Through the virtual court hearing platform, it is no longer necessary for inmates to appear physically in court as they can interact with the court virtually while they are in prison,” he said.

Malaba said the virtual platform would allow for bail applications to be made online in line with international best practices.

“Video conferencing, the alluring absence of the physical presence of litigants, and the e-courthouses which are inherent in a virtual court system represents the new character of judicial proceedings. In keeping with its novelty, the idea of remote participation in court proceedings is not only transformative of the usual modes of conducting judicial business, but is also cost effective,” he added.

Other countries that have digitalised their court systems include South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Gambia, India and England.

Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said virtual court systems would achieve efficiency and speed up the justice delivery system.

He said the required equipment had already been installed, connecting the Harare Magistrates Court and the High Court, ading that provinces like Chinhoyi, Bindura and Mutare had already been equipped to kick-start the process.

“Access to justice must not be discriminatory. The principle must apply equally, irrespective of whether one resides in the provincial centre or district, or one is a prisoner, woman or child,” Ziyambi said.

Speaking at the same event, United Nations Development Programme representative Mia Seppo hailed the adoption of the virtual court system.

Pachedu Exposes Elections Rigging Currently Happening In Kwekwe

By A Correspondent| Twitter based advocacy group Pachedu has exposed a the ongoing rigging that is taking place ahead of the Kwekwe amid reports that 1416 people have been moved from other constituencies into Kwekwe central where there is pending by-elections.

A further 600 people moved from Mbizo to Kwekwe central.

Posting on Twitter, Pachedu said the fishy happenings point to undergoing rigging.

Something fishy is happening in Kwekwe Central. 1 416 voters moved from other constituencies into Kwekwe. Only 14 left. Of these, 600 people moved from Mbizo to Kwekwe Central. Why are pple moving to Kwekwe yet so few have moved into Mbizo & Redcliff?,” said Pachedu.

Commenting on the Pachedu post, CCC Treasurer General David Coltart said rigging of by-elections is easier compared to a general election.

“This is precisely what I predicted weeks ago. By elections are easier to rig than a general election: manipulate the voters roll by moving People’s names in from neighboring constituencies and then on the day physically move them in to vote,” said Coltart.

Gvt Says 60% Of Teachers Reported For Duty

By A Correspondent- The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education said that 60 per cent of teachers nationwide reported for duty on Monday when schools opened for the first term.

The ministry’s spokesperson Taungana Ndoro told NewsDay that teachers at peri-urban and rural schools reported for duty while some educators were still on their way to their workplaces.

Ndoro said:

We had a 60% turnout of teachers nationwide. Those that did not report for duty are from metropolitan areas, while teachers from peri-urban and rural areas reported for duty. Other teachers are still en route to their stations.

In Harare and Bulawayo and several other cities, teachers and school heads failed to report for duty citing “incapacitation”.

Educators are pushing the Government to pay their salaries in US dollars to cushion them from the rising cost of living.

In a statement on Monday evening, Primary and Secondary Education secretary Tumisang Thabela, however, claimed that the majority of teachers reported for duty. She said:

Government is pleased to note that schools have opened, that the majority of teachers reported for duty and that the majority of schoolchildren were able to attend classes.

In instances where students and pupils were unable to attend, government awaits definitive information on the reasons, so as to respond appropriately.

However, a parent from Highfields told NewsDay that she sent her children to Tsungayi Primary School, but they returned home as there were no teachers. She said:

There were no teachers at the school. We saw officials from the Primary and Secondary Education ministry entering the school.

They must know that teachers are very important and must be paid well so that they report for duty.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) called on employers, including the Government, to pay their employees in US dollars. ZCTU said in a statement:

Schools opened today with no word from the employer on the US dollar salaries for the dedicated suffering teacher.

The market is refusing Zimdollars and we demand that all workers be paid in US dollars as dictated by the market.

Diaspora Remittances, Export Receipts Totals US$9.7 Billion In 2021

A total US$9,7 billion receipts were injected into the economy last year, breaking the levels reached during the dollarization era.

Data contained in the latest Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Monetary Policy Statement shows that foreign currency receipts registered a 53,5% increase from 2020 levels.

“The country recorded its highest ever foreign currency receipts of US$9,7 billion in 2021, an increase of 53,5% from 2020.This performance, which dwarfs the previous record of US$7.6 billion recorded in 2013, is attributable to increased international commodity prices, increased international remittances and the gold incentives put in place by the government,” the RBZ said.

Out of the total, export remittances topped the list at US$6,1 million recording a 66,6% increase from yesteryear’s levels.

Diaspora remittances topped US$1,4 million, registering a staggering 43% increase, Non-Governmental Organisations brought in US$975 million while loan proceeds raked in US$876 million.

The central bank also notes that international remittances reached US$2,4 billion as at December 2021, an increase of 46% from the recorded 2020 levels.

Since the last monetary policy statement issued in August 2021, the RBZ has remained steadfast and resolute in its quest to foster domestic macroeconomic and financial system stability.

“Notwithstanding the Covid- 19 induced effects on inflation and wider macroeconomic stability, year-on year inflation went down from a peak of 837.5% in July 2020 to 60.7% in December 2021,” the bank said.

The conservative monetary targeting framework currently being pursued by the Bank has seen quarterly growth in reserve money being successfully contained within the desired targets throughout 2021.

During the period under review, the banking sector also remained safe and sound with demonstrable capacity for increased support to the recovery of the economy even in the face of vulnerabilities induced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mines Minister Accused Of Grabbing Eight Gold Mine Claims

MINES minister Winston Chitando has been accused of grabbing eight gold mining claims belonging to businessman Yakub Ibrahim Mahomed and re-issuing them under a special grant to Golden Reef Mining (Pvt) Ltd, where he is a director.

The matter was set for hearing yesterday, but High Court judge Justice Rogers Manyangadze postponed it to February 24 at the request of Chitando’s lawyer, Takudzwa Mutomba who indicated that the minister, together with Moyo and Ndhlovu had secured the services of a new lawyer, Lovemore Madhuku who was tied up elsewhere.

Apostle Chiwenga Says: Chamisa Not A Threat, CIO Gunmen Hunted Me Instead Into Jo’Burg

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Once again Talent Chiwenga the self proclaimed prophet and a self righteous all knowing apostle made claims that he was about to be assassinated.

Self righteous is a person having or characterized by a certainty, especially an unfounded one, that one is totally correct or morally superior.”self-righteous indignation and complacency. This is the best way to describe Talent Chiwenga.
Chiwenga is well known for believing that he is the only favoured of God and the only prophet who knows everything.

He has on several occasions believed that he is in danger from the government of Zimbabwe. It has been always clear that Chiwenga is a controversial street preacher who has a strong belief tha he is the only one correct and everyone else is wrong. He believes that he is the mouth piece of God and that his word comes from God at least that is what his followers to believe. He is known to have a passion for insulting anyone and everyone. He lacks diplomacy and is known for rebuking church members in church while he is beaming their photo on the screen.
Once again Chiwenga has shown his unexplainable obsession with the CIO and the government of Zimbabwe. He believes that he is targeted by the government of Zimbabwe. He again has become a renowned enemy of another Preacher Prophet Makandiwa. Talent Chiwenga’s beef with prophet Makandiwa is not known. Chiwenga hates Makandiwa with a passion.
Talent Chiwenga has become blubber who pukes vitriol on any politician and any person for no reason. He now is in a serious belief that everybody is against his life. He lives in a fear and he is always running away from his shadow. But Chiwenga has become so notorious that he has to do anything to be famous. Without further diagnosis we can say that Chiwenga is paranoid. This is a mental condition characterized by delusions of persecution, unwarranted jealousy, or exaggerated self-importance, typically worked into an organized system. It may be an aspect of chronic personality disorder, of drug abuse, or of a serious condition such as schizophrenia in which the person loses touch with reality. Chiwenga could be seriously on drugs or really having schizophrenia. Chiwenga lies through his teeth with a straight face.
Now coming to his assertions Chiwenga claims that there are people who have been sent to kill him. He is now in self exile in South Africa where vomits his vitriol. Two years ago Chiwenga while coming from South Africa was involved in a car accident where he killed his wife and two church members. Talent Chiwenga drove while he was sleepy tired and in his own words he was over speeding. In his ever righteous mentality Chiwenga claimed that he was set up by the CIO and that they wanted to kill him. He claimed further that they are the ones who caused his accident. He now creates his own CIO and claims they are after him and his property. His story is so absurd.

He as usual published the fake Identity card of a fictitious person called Allipongo who was said to be a state security stationed at Zimbabwe State house as a State Security Operative. Looking at this it is laughable. Firstly the State house Identity card does not say State House. It says State residence. The security at the State house do not have an identity card which is like the one published. Looking closely at the card it only has a name and not a surname. It does not even have an initial. Chiwenga displays the fake card and claim that it was a CIO member stationed at State House. This betrays his paranoia and the state of his mental health.

Paranoia which Chiwenga has involves intense anxious or fearful feelings and thoughts often related to persecution, threat, or conspiracy. Paranoia occurs in many mental disorders, but is most often present in psychotic disorders.

So Chiwenga is psychotic. Paranoia can become delusions, when irrational thoughts and beliefs become so fixed that nothing (including contrary evidence) can convince a person that what they think or feel is not true. It will be waste of time to try and convince Chiwenga that no one is after him. When a person has paranoia or delusions, but no other symptoms (like hearing or seeing things that aren’t there), they might have what is called a delusional disorder.  So it is true that Chiwenga is delusional and demented. Because only thoughts are impacted, a person with delusional disorder can usually work and function in everyday life, however, their lives may be limited and isolated. In Chiwengas case he try to become a hero by creating a threat against me.
Delusional disorder is characterized by irrational or intense belief(s) or suspicion(s) which a person believes to be true. These beliefs may seem outlandish and impossible (bizarre) or fit within the realm of what is possible (non-bizarre)
Up to this day Chiwenga has refused to be a man of God and accept that there is no one after his life. He has been seeing shadows and he killed his wife in this accident and obviously blamed CIO. Now he is looking for a legal stay in South Africa and is now busy creating fictions which can only be found in a fiction book.
One psychiatrist Dr M Patel from the United Kingdom described the behaviour of Chiwenga as narcissistic.Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a long-term, mental health condition. NPD causes you to think that you are more important than other people. You need to be the centre of attention and to be admired by others. You want to control the people and events in your life. It is hard for you to stop your behaviours, even when you hurt others. You have trouble asking for help and trusting other people. These thoughts and behaviours cause problems with your relationships and daily activities. As a result you believe that you are always right and everybody is after your life. The exact cause of NPD is not known. NPD commonly occurs in early adulthood. NPD may develop if you did not have a secure relationship with your parents, or if that security was disrupted.

So Talent Chiwenga has a mental health problem which most of his followers have failed to understand and have given him the Dutch courage. Talent Chiwenga is an arrogant someone who is arrogant thinks he is better or more important than other people and behaves in a way that is rude and too confident. He has become proud and thinks that he is now at the level of God.
Of all the institutions of human society, the Christian Church is surely the most amazing. Standing like a rock amid the shifting currents and cultures of the ages, it has occupied a unique place in man’s life for almost 2,000 years. While other institutions have come and gone, political and economic systems waxed and waned, the Church, alone among them all, has endured.
There is no worry that it will not continue to endure. We must worry, however, when leaders of the Church show signs of jeopardizing its power and influence by taking it away from its main mission. To be specific zimbabwe as a christian country for more than hundred years, We should be concerned that many of the Church’s top leaders today—especially in what are called the one man street denominations—are sorely failing its members in two ways: (1) by succumbing to a creeping tendency to downgrade the Bible as the infallible Word of God, and (2) by efforts to shift the Church’s main thrust from the spiritual to the secular. The two, are related. Preachers are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.
But Talent Chiwenga enters into politics by lying to feed into his paranoia.
Paranoia is thinking and feeling like you are being threatened in some way, even if there is no evidence, or very little evidence, that you are.
“In paranoia, your fears become amplified and everyone you meet becomes drawn into that web. You become the centre of a threatening universe.”
This the life Chiwenga is living a life of fear of shaddows. Chiwenga needs our prayers. He is possessed with demons we must cast the demons out of Chiwenga and throw them into the sea.
Chiwenga is free to go to zimbabwe without any fear.
At the other end of the spectrum is very severe paranoia (also called clinical paranoia or persecutory delusions) which is affected the man of gods. We have no doubt that Chiwenga’s paranoia is more severe and he needs treatment.
Chiwenga is not under threat and he is trying to bolster his asylum claim in South Africa by creating a fake assassination attempt.

Zanu PF Targets All By-Election Seats, Are They Not Dreaming?

By- Zanu PF said it wants to win all the House of Assembly seats and wards left vacant due to recalls of MDC Alliance MPs and councillors by Douglas Mwonzora of MDC-T.

The by-elections are on the 26 March.

Gweru Man’s Body Missing After Croc Attack

BY-The search for the missing body parts of a 23-year-old Silobela man who was mauled by a crocodile while attempting to cross a flooded Gweru River continues almost a week after the incident happened.
To date, only the bottom parts of the man’s body were discovered.
According to Silobela Legislator, Mthokozisi Manoki-Mpofu, the community is searching for the remains in order to give the man a decent burial.

“It is true there was a man who was attacked by a crocodile along the Gweru River sometime last week. I am not sure yet what he was doing but I am told he was trying to cross the river.
“So far I hear they have only found the bottom part of the body which has since been taken to the mortuary. The search continues as the people try to find the crocodile with the hope of finding more body parts,” said Hon Manoki-Mpofu.

Acting Kwekwe District Civil Protection Unit (CPU) chairperson, Mr Clemence Muduma said a taskforce had been put in place to try and find the remains.
“We have come up with a taskforce including the Zibagwe Rural District Council, Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority, (ZimParks) and the police and we continue hunting for the crocodile so that we can retrieve the remaining body parts so that the person can get a decent burial.

“We continue urging the public to avoid crossing flooded rivers or to play near flooded rivers and dams given the heavy rains that we are receiving as a country. There are so many dangers associated with these heavy rains and we should avoid unnecessary loss of life,” said Mr Muduma.

ZEC Registers Voters In Churches

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in the Midlands Province on Sunday dispatched voter educators to churches to encourage potential voters to go and register as the nation gears up for next year’s general elections.
The elections body has embarked on phased voter registration, with the first one ending at the end of the month.
ZEC had initially intended to start the voter registration blitz on December 6 last year but postponed it following consultations with stakeholders to allow prospective voters to acquire national identity documents.
In December last year, ZEC revealed that it had only registered close to 3 000 new voters.

ZEC voter educators were moving around churches in Kwekwe on Sunday where they were allocated time to encourage new voters to go and register at designated schools and churches being used as voter registration centres in Kwekwe.
“Those who are not registered to vote, you have been given an opportunity to go and register at your nearest registration centre
especially those who are 18 and above.
“You can go to the registration centre with your National Identity document, passport and proof of residence. If your proof of residence does not bear your name, you can write an affidavit to be signed and stamped by a commissioner of oaths and then come back and register,” a ZEC voter educator told a church gathering in Kwekwe.
She said registered voters who want to transfer from other districts or provinces could also bring with them a signed and stamped affidavit.
The registration centres operate from 7am to 5pm. Over 2 700 centres have been established throughout the country for the first phase of the exercise in addition to the 73 permanent district and provincial centres. – -New Ziana

Man Sues Wife For Emotional Abuse

He suspects me of having some adulterous affair with every man I interact with.

However, magistrate Mildred Matuvi ruled in Mupezeni’s favour and granted him a protection order against his wife.- New Ziana

Zodwa Hosts A US$200K Birth Day Party In SA

By- Helicopters, boat cruises, expensive champagne, and endless parties have been the theme of their bash in Cape Town.

The cost of the mega party, which has been rocking the Mother City, is still being worked out but, not many will be surprised if more than US$200 000 was invested in the huge bash.

Harare businesswoman, and the late Ginus Kadungure’s girlfriend, Zodwa Mkandla, who is part of the capital’s social scene, has been celebrating her Golden Jubilee and chose Cape Town as the setting for the big bash.
They are the second group of Zimbabweans to invade the Mother City, in the past few weeks, for grand celebrations after a group of car dealers turned heads in Cape Town with the birthday party for one of them, known as “Boss Archie.”
This time, it was the ‘‘Rich Cousins’’ who were in town for the extravagant celebrations to mark the 50th birthday of Mkandla, who is also known as “Zozo.”
Zozo is the leader of the ‘‘Rich Cousins,’’ a group of individuals who include Thandie Makuyana, Mitchell Kawome, Belinda Murawo, Gina Duri, Lisa Maropafadzo, Danya Kabwebwe, Marvelous Gumise, Chipo’s Closet, Nobunkosi Ndlovu and Martha Mudzvova. They have pledged to build a school as their contribution to the ‘‘Zodwa’s 50 for 50 Foundation.’’
Mkandla and her friends painted the ‘‘Mother City’’ green with their strict dress code themed 50 shades of green for the ladies and black tuxedo for the gents.
The glamorous event was held at Cavalli Wine Estate and the birthday girl arrived in a chopper showing off the stunning Cape Town scenery with the Table Mountain in the background.
Mkandla launched her ‘‘Zodwa’s 50 for 50 Foundation’’ last Wednesday.
Two weeks ago, a group of Harare car dealers invaded Cape Town for a five-day birthday bash of booze, boat cruises and non-stop music.
The US$100 000 party saw the birthday boy being entertained by South African artist, DJ Tira, at a joint in the Mother City.
The guys who graced the birthday bash included local rapper Stunner. H Metro

Rugeje Bounces Back

By – Former Zanu PF political commissar, Retired army boss Lt. Gen Engelbert Rugeje recently dominated a Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting and gave orders to party leadership.

Rugeje has been passive and hardly given chance to address members of the party during Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meetings in Masvingo.

However, the recently held PCC at Victoria Junior School saw a rejuvenated Rugeje speaking authoritatively and stamping authority on various issues that were raised during the meeting.

The new provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa also publicly showed unwavering allegiance to Rugeje, addressing him as ‘Sir’ all the time.

Rugeje overshadowed even Lovemore Matuke, the most senior politburo member in the province, during the meeting.

“The politburo said they have endorsed Masvingo results. This means the new leadership is the one recognised now. I hear, see, receive phone calls and messages from other people suggesting there will be changes but that will never happen.
“Let us not waste time thinking the chairperson and his team will be removed and get another one. There is nothing like that,” said Rugeje, authoritatively.
The former army boss however, gave a hint that Mavhenyengwa should consider not seeking re-election after his term as he might also want to be the next chair.
“Chairman, I have congratulated you. You will lead us for the next four years. I am a very honest person so let me tell you: yours are only four years. If you want to continue then that’s another issue because I may also want to contest for the position,” Rugeje said.
“A person is given his time, have to work within the stipulated time and give others a chance. Let me reiterate that, no one is given a position for a lifetime like a Chief,” he emphasised.

Sources within Zanu PF said Rugeje had been a spent force politically but bounced back and is now powerful owing to his ties with Chiwenga.

“Rugeje is now powerful. He has been silent since he was dismissed but now has bounced back. The way Mavhenyengwa continuously addressed him as ‘Sir’ shows that he is now a power to reckon with,” said the source.
Chiwenga has lately been a regular visitor to Masvingo province. Last year he came for the national clean-up, a week before the provincial elections that were held on December 28, 2021 and on February 2, 2022 for the World Wetlands Day commemorations, a development which has been interpreted by many as a way of strengthening his grip on the province which has remained the ‘boiling pot’ of Zimbabwean politics.
Rugeje went on to warn former Provincial Political Commissar Jeppy Jaboon whom the PCC recommended for his welcome in the party against contesting for any post before the stipulated time (five years) lapsed.
“There are others who have been welcomed back into the party, we would want to follow the regulations and they cannot hold any post ahead of those who have been loyal to the party,” said Rugeje.
“The Chiwenga faction wants to consolidate its grip on the province through incorporating militant characters like Jaboon who would make the task easier. They also want to use him to fight Energy Mutodi who is eyeing Bikita South seat, threatening the incumbent Josiah Sithole,” said a party source. TellZimNews

ZIFA Appeals To FIFA

By A Correspondent- The suspended Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board has appealed to FIFA to intervene in its stand-off with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

The SRC suspended the Felton Kamambo-led board in November last year but in December FIFA ordered that the ZIFA board be reinstated by 3 January 2022.

The SRC ignored the FIFA ultimatum and ZIFA has now written to the world football governing body asking for “guidance”.

Suspended ZIFA secretary-general Joseph Mamutse on Friday wrote to FIFA, informing them that Kamambo was barred from travelling to Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

Reads the letter:

We wish to inform you that our FA president Mr Felton Kamambo was today barred from travelling for a football event he had been officially invited to attend.

We are informed that this was at the insistence of the SRC and a continuation of their interference in our football.

While the FIFA letter has yet not come, our football continues to suffer at the hands of the SRC and we again continue to ask for FIFA’s intervention.

The situation in Zimbabwe is such that football is now being run by the government and this latest act is again proof that the interference continues even long after the expiry of the deadline given by FIFA to the SRC. We wait for your guidance.

Makepe Kepe In Financial Crisis

Harare giants CAPS United’s woes continue after players walked out of train week, in protest of oustanding salaries.

The Green Machine’s financial crisis is well-documented, with the club hierarchy unable to secure sponsorship.

Preparations for the resumption of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League have hit a snag as players walked out of training on Friday and didn’t even show up for practise on Saturday.

“We trained in the morning on Friday but walked out of the afternoon session because of outstanding salaries,” said one player who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“We didn’t train on Saturday because of that issue, we did not show up. We asked to see the president (Farai Jere) but we were told he went to Cameroon to watch the Afcon 2021 final on the mc of m.”

“They told us we would have our money last week but that did not happen, so we simply refused to train,” added the player.

The local top flight, which had been temporarily stopped due to rising cases of Covid-19, resumed this weekend.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Security Guard Shoots Self

By A Correspondent- A security guard employed by Guard Alert in Bindura yesterday shot and killed himself at a CBZ Bank branch in the farming town.

The guard, Leopard Kamuzondo, was allegedly facing financial problems, according to some of his friends.

“He was always complaining about lack of money, but I never thought he would kill himself in such a manner,” said one of his friends who declined to be named. When NewsDay arrived at the scene, Kamuzondo’s body was lying face down at the bank’s backyard.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe could neither confirm nor deny the incident yesterday.

ZEC Forced Into A Corner Over Registration

The Zimbabwe Lawyers For Human Rights have requested that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) to provide information pertaining to the number of people issued with national identity documents to justify its rollout of the current voter registration exercise.

Priscilla Chigumba

-Newsday

Zanu PF Supporters Disrupt Burial Of CCC Member

Tinashe Sambiri|Unruly Zanu PF supporters disrupted the funeral of senior Citizens’ Coalition For Change member, Maria Chogugudza in Chiweshe at the weekend.

The rowdy Zanu PF members barred mourners from wearing yellow regalia.

Citizens’ Coalition For Change vice chairperson Hon Job Sikhala strongly condemned Zanu PF hooliganism:

“This is at the funeral of the icon of the democratic struggle Maria Chogugudza. The funeral was highjacked by desperate ZANU PF pple who banned mourners from wearing our Yellow Revolution T-Shirts.

This led 2 the abandonment of going to her final resting place in Chiweshe.”

Zim Population Shoots To 17 Million Near

When Zimbabwe’s population was only 110,000 in 1910, no one imagined it would balloon into the millions. Compared with other nations like South Africa and United Kingdom, Zimbabwe remains way too low, but on its own standards 17 million is a historic.

The country is projected to reach 17 million, growing by nearly four million in the last 10 years from 13 million recorded during the 2012 national census.

The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) has made these revelations.

Last year, conducted a census mapping exercise which projected the population to be now at 16,9 million.

These include 8,8 million females and 8,1 million males.

The 2012 census put the country’s population at 13 061 239; 6 780 700 females and 6 280 539 males.

ZimStat is expected to conduct another census this year.

It will use the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) technique in capturing data from members of the public.

There will be 50 000 enumerators each with a tablet to capture information digitally while about 300 motorcycles will be procured for data collection in remote areas.

Results will inform policymakers on how to make projections for the country.

ZimStat public relations and communication manager Ms Mercy Chidemo said the pre-census mapping exercise which ended last week projected that the country now has nearly 17 million people.

“The projected 2022 Population number is 16 980 513 with 8 810 090 females and 8 170 423 males,” she said.

Ms Chidemo said the agency has completed its pre-census mapping exercise and is now recruiting census field workers.

“We now have the enumeration areas and we are now moving into training for the level one teams.

Starting this month, we will be training national supervisors and trainers who will train the enumerators.

Most of the recruitment is being done from the public service.

And all the recruitment is being done this month for the enumerators, the supervisors and information communication technology experts,” said Ms Chidemo.

ZimStat is targeting to recruit 50 000 enumerators who will conduct the census exercise from April 21 to April 30 this year.

Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Permanent Secretary Mr Paul Nyoni said the census is important as it will inform the country’s policy direction.

“We can’t plan without measuring. Census is what tells us what we are planning for, what we need to provide and what the future looks like.

Remember census does not just add up people, it looks at growth and other things.

So, you can then project and say we need x number of schools in the future and x number of hospitals.

It determines the demands of resources that are allocated in accordance to the growing number of the population,” said Mr Nyoni.

He said at a political level, the census will determine the level of representation that a community will have.

“In other words, it will determine the number of wards and the number of constituencies that an area will have.

It is crucial that everyone is counted.

It is not child’s play or any kind of projection but we all need to be counted for communities to get resources,” he said.

Presenting the 2022 national budget last year, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said the Covid-19 pandemic had affected the census preparatory exercise.

“The budget is therefore setting aside $3 billion towards the preparation and conduct of the 2022 Population and Housing Census. -Additional reporting, Chronicle

NGO Implores Citizens To Register To Vote

By Ishmael Kupfuwa – COTRAD Information

Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) calls upon all eligible voters – especially those who reached the voting age after the 2018 elections- to utilize the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) mobile voter registration blitz to register to vote.

The call was necessitated by the disappointing response of people registering to vote at various mobile registration centres around Masvingo Province.

The low turn-up is notably due to the lack of information about mobile voter registration centres, dates and perhaps lack of national identity cards especially to the age group reaching 18 years.

Many people especially those in rural areas without access to social media platforms are yet to access key information.

In respond to the low turn-up of voters observed during the first days of the blitz, COTRAD dispatched its members to mobilize potential voters through door -to- door and one on one engagements.

COTRAD also intensified its online mobilization strategies through the WhatsApp groups, Twitter handles, Facebook, online television shows, radio shows, bulk messages, circulation of voter education jingles and electronic fliers.

While the provision of physical interaction platforms is being done through district soccer and netball games, women voter education meetings, supply of voter education printed IEC material. The campaign serves to inform people about the mobile voter registration centres, dates and to explore voter registration requirements and procedures as stipulated by the Zimbabwe electoral laws.

COTRAD urges the electorate, particularly the youth to take the mobile voter registration process seriously since the registered numbers will inform the delimitation exercise.

Therefore, the low numbers of registered voters will affect allocation of constituencies in the province. Voter registration is continuing at 73 permanent district and provincial centres national wide, and the mobile voter registration blitz shall be conducted at 2 700 mobile registration centres. The blitz is set to run in two phases, the first exercise started on the 1st of February and will end on the 28th with the second phase commencing on 11th April ending on the 30th of the same month.

The voter education and information which is currently being provided by with ZEC is not adequate, ZEC should ensure the provision of adequate, accurate, gender sensitive and unbiased voter education as required in section 40B of the Electoral Act. COTRAD is accredited to assist ZEC in conducting voter education in terms of section 40B (3) of the Electoral Act. Therefore, COTRAD shall keep on working with ZEC to intensifying voter education in Masvingo province.

Citizens Will Defeat Mnangagwa In 2023

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens’ Coalition For Change led by President Nelson Chamisa has implored all citizens to vote for a bright future.

In a statement, Citizens’ Coalition For Change ( Namibia) challenged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to be objective and transparent in executing its expected duties.

Read statement below:

Voting is part of independence! Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia echoes.

06 February 2022

Members of the Yellow Movement in Namibia who subscribe to the astute leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa reiterate that citizens should recover their fundamental position at the centre of decision making in governance issues.

As an organic district in the Yellow Revolution, we urge all citizens to converge for the change that transforms our pathetic livelihoods under Zanupf morons who continue to paddle political lies about socio-economic transformation.

Voting determines the quality of life, quality of education, quality of food and quality of everything including that of your leadership hence a basic human right.

It should be clear that the citizens have extraordinary powers and rights to determine their future through voting for the establishment of a genuine developmental state under the leadership of the vibrant Citizens Coalition For Change. Our message remains clear that all Zimbabweans who are eligible to vote should verify, register and vote for change in 2022 by-elections and 2023 harmonised elections. Right thinking citizens must all brace for massive mobilisation and recruitment of virgin voters especially the desperate unemployed youths whose future has been messed up by the clueless satanic regime.

Moreover, as we gear up towards the historic elections in 2023, the citizens should be ready to demand comprehensive political and electoral reforms to jealously guard against perennial rigging by the stomach politicians in Zanupf led by Mr Mnangagwa. We must stand ready to defend the people’s vote against any shenanigans from the desperate regime. Zimbabweans should demand the independence of state media, Zbc must stop operating as an extension of Zanupf, we need to have real time announcement of results, Citizens Coalition For Change demands the independence of chiefs and headmen, they should not be used to intimidate citizens, frog marching them to Zanupf rallies on empty stomachs.

Our revolutionary obligation remains solely to make sure that all our children who are 18 years and above are registered voters including our relatives, friends and all virgin voters in our vicinity so that they vote for change in 2023. Citizens Coalition For Change targets 6 million voters for socio-economic transfiguration in Zimbabwe hence the dire need to register everyone.

The district stands firmly ready to cooperate with all revolutionaries in the Yellow Revolution until President Advocate Nelson Chamisa constitutionally occupies the State House. As an external assembly committed and dedicated to prosecute the Yellow Revolution to its logical conclusion, we shall make sure that we are registered voters.

Furthermore, citizens should realise that our political and national duty is to accomplish the unfinished business of the liberation struggle where One-man One-vote was a priority. Voting rights came with blood, sweat and a concoction of sacrifices, we can’t allow Zanupf to continue trampling on the basic fundamental rights enshrined in the supreme law of the motherland. Social democrats across the globe must brace for dangerous freedom against peace slavery. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia concurs with the pragmatic people’s President’s revolutionary trajectory to put citizens at the centre of decision making in governance.

The citizenry should replace politicians as masters, they should play a servant role since they are employees of the citizens who rely on the tax payer’s money.

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia absolutely condemns the culture of violence from the Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP), CIOs and Zanupf militia who recently disbanded our voter registration campaign claiming that it was not sanctioned, they impounded Hon Judith Tobaiwa’s campaign vehicle and removed posters. This is quite unwarranted in a purported democratic dispensation. Namibia district encourages the police ,army and other state agencies to refrain from state sponsored violence. They should remain professional since their duty is to protect citizens not to torture, arbitrarily arrest or use live ammunition against unarmed citizens like what we witnessed after 2018 elections when at least 7 were shot in cold blood on 1 August and other 17 were butchered in January 2019 for protesting against fuel pump price hike.

In a nutshell, the district encourages the citizens abroad to support the Yellow Marine morally, financially and materially as we gear up for 2023 harmonised elections. We need polling agents at each polling station so that Zanupf thieves would not get the chance to breastfeed the ballot. Register a friend especially the millennial generation. If you don’t vote, you are assisting to the incumbent to retain power. If you don’t vote, stop complaining about socio-economic challenges in the country.

Citizens should not expect politicians to give them food handouts and party regalia so that they register and vote. Voting is part of independence therefore every citizen is entitled to voting. Let’s go and register to vote, vote in 2023 and defend the vote against perennial election fraudsters.

We demand the independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec), it should halt assisting Zanupf to rig the will of the people.

Understanding Cancer Screening

Man’s Body Parts Missing After Crocodile Attack

By A Correspondent-The search for the missing body parts of a 23-year-old Silobela man who was mauled by a crocodile while attempting to cross a flooded Gweru River continues almost a week after the incident happened.

Give Civil Servants USD Salaries

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change leader President Nelson Chamisa has described Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “hotchpotch” economic policies as desperate measures calculated to confuse citizens.

President Chamisa also exposed Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s policy naivety.

“This policy hotchpotch is a disaster! We advised them to dollarise but they didn’t listen.

Trying to reinforce dedollarization by allowing some taxes & fees to be paid in ZWL using threshold defined here whilst myopically & stubbornly holding on to the USD is policy naivety.

Civil servants must be paid in USD. If government has faith in ZWL it must allow all govt fees & taxes which include toll fees and passport fees and taxes to be in ZWL simple,” President Chamisa wrote on Twitter.
