Advocate Chamisa Denounces Brutal Eviction Of Citizens By Mnangagwa Regime

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has vehemently condemned the violent eviction of citizens by the government of Zimbabwe, shedding light on the pressing issue of land rights and ownership in the country.

In a poignant statement, Chamisa underscored the crucial link between independence, meaningful land rights, and ownership, emphasizing that mere occupation does not equate to true ownership.

“The communal lands act is draconian and colonial,” Chamisa declared, highlighting the systemic flaws within Zimbabwe’s land tenure system. He lamented that while many Zimbabweans may reside on land, they lack legal ownership, leaving them vulnerable to arbitrary displacement and dispossession.

Chamisa’s impassioned plea for justice resonated deeply as he denounced the heartache endured by citizens who have lost their homes due to state-sanctioned evictions.

He emphasized the inherent dignity and God-given entitlement of every citizen to land, condemning the recent displacements as flagrant violations of constitutional rights.

Citing specific constitutional provisions, including property rights, administrative justice, and freedom from arbitrary eviction, Chamisa underscored the legal basis for challenging the government’s actions.

He criticized the concentration of power in the hands of the President, highlighting the lack of accountability and citizen participation in decisions affecting communal lands.

Urging urgent action, Chamisa outlined a series of concrete steps to address the land rights crisis.

Chief among these measures is the issuance of title deeds to provide citizens with legal protection and security over their land.

He also called for a comprehensive review of outdated legislation, establishment of transparent land registries, and depoliticization of land allocation processes.

Moreover, Chamisa stressed the importance of community consultations and adequate compensation in cases of displacement, advocating for a fair and equitable approach to land management.

He proposed the introduction of land use planning mechanisms overseen by designated district planners to prevent abuse of state power and ensure sustainable land utilization.

Advocate Chamisa’s denouncement of brutal evictions by the Mnangagwa regime shines a spotlight on the urgent need for comprehensive land reform in Zimbabwe.

His call for justice, transparency, and citizen empowerment underscores the fundamental principles of democracy and human rights that must guide efforts to address the country’s land tenure challenges.

Only through collective action and genuine reform can Zimbabwe realize its promise of land ownership for all its citizens.

Mnangagwa Tractor Fiasco: A Reflection Of Own Government Failure

By A Correspondent

In a gesture that was meant to symbolize support for youth empowerment, President Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe donated a tractor to the Mushagashe Youth Vocational Training Centre during the National Youth Day commemorations.

However, the seemingly benevolent act quickly turned sour as the tractor, reportedly received from Belarus, failed to start.

This incident has once again shed light on Zimbabwe’s precarious relationship with substandard products from Belarus and the alleged murky deals between the two countries.Zimbabwe has long been labeled a dumping ground for substandard goods, particularly those originating from Belarus.

Reports suggest that President Aleksandr Lukashenko and several individuals benefit significantly from these questionable transactions.

The tractor donation fiasco serves as a stark reminder of the repercussions of such arrangements on the ground.

One notable instance that underscored this troubling pattern occurred in 2022 when Zimbabwe’s honorary consul and close associate of President Mnangagwa, Alexander Zingman, reportedly secured a lucrative $62 million deal to supply fire tenders to local authorities.

This deal, tainted with allegations of corruption and substandard equipment, exemplifies the systemic issues plaguing bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus.

The repercussions of these transactions are felt most acutely by ordinary Zimbabweans, who bear the brunt of substandard products that fail to meet basic quality standards.

In the case of the Mushagashe Youth Vocational Training Centre, the malfunctioning tractor represents not only a logistical setback but also a missed opportunity for meaningful investment in youth development.

Moreover, the prevalence of such dubious deals erodes trust in government institutions and fuels public discontent.

The lack of transparency surrounding these transactions further exacerbates the problem, leaving citizens disillusioned and skeptical of their leaders’ intentions.

To address this issue, there is an urgent need for greater accountability and oversight in trade relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus.

Both governments must prioritize the interests of their citizens over personal gains and take concrete steps to ensure the quality and reliability of imported goods.

Furthermore, civil society organizations and the media play a crucial role in exposing corruption and holding those responsible to account.

By shining a light on these murky deals and demanding transparency, they can help safeguard the rights and well-being of Zimbabwean citizens.

The recent tractor donation debacle serves as a stark reminder of Zimbabwe’s troubling tryst with substandard products and murky deals from Belarus.

It underscores the need for greater transparency, accountability, and oversight in bilateral trade relations to protect the interests of ordinary citizens and uphold the principles of good governance.

Fresh Trouble For Mnangagwa’s Runner Uebert Angel

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ambassador-at-large Uebert Angel, born Uebert Madzanire has been banned from YouTube after he allegedly attempted to pull down Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia investigative documentary which exposed him as a key player in alleged gold and money laundering activities in Zimbabwe.

The four-part investigative series also purported that Mnangagwa had a close relationship with gold smugglers and money launderers, who claimed they were making regular payments to the President to ensure protection.

Data analyst Team Pachedu told NewsDay that Angel tried to remove the content several times before being banned from YouTube for violating the terms of service.

“When you make a complaint, YouTube automatically notifies the other party that somebody is violating its copyright for IT (information technology) to get videos. So the other party is involved throughout the process of what’s going on.

“That’s how we managed to know because we knew the party that was involved. Angel has been trying to send requests in an attempt to remove Gold Mafia content until YouTube banned him,” Team Pachedu said.

Team Pachedu said Angel was now desperately luring people to follow him on Facebook.

“Right now he is using another channel called UebertAngelplus on Facebook which was not being used. They have managed to load over 100 videos in the past three days, but the main account has been banned, which was YouTube,” Team Pachedu said.

Team Pachedu also published a letter written by YouTube addressed to Angel giving reasons why they refused to remove the content from the platform.

“Hi Uebert Angel, We are concerned that your copyright notification may not be valid for some or all of the videos identified in your notification,” partly read the letter.

“Please keep in mind that in many countries, it is legal to use copyrighted works in specific ways without the owner’s authorisation, particularly for transformative purposes such as news reporting, parody, commentary, or review.

“Some countries protect such uses under doctrines of ‘fair use’ or ‘fair dealing’, while others allow for specific exceptions to copyright protection.”

Efforts to get a comment from Angel were fruitless.

Major Reprieve For Zimbabweans In South Africa

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has suffered a blow in his bid to appeal the judgment of the High Court Pretoria.

The court had invalidated his December 2021 decision to terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) and an interim interdict, which stopped government from detaining or deporting any holder of the permit.

Motsoaledi turned to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein in November last year to appeal the judgments, which he argued had set a dangerous precedent.

In an order that the SCA issued, Motsoaledi lost with costs the application for leave to appeal.

The appellate court has found no reasonable prospect of success in an appeal.

Khama Billiat Labelled Unprofessional After Last Minute Dynamos Snub

By A Correspondent| Dynamos vice-chairperson Vincent Chawonza is outraged over what he termed unprofessionalism by Khama Billiat’s handlers after Yadah successfully snatched the former Warriors talisman transfer on Tuesday.

The Harare giants, who had seen off competition from league rivals Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum, Simba Bhora and Caps United believed a deal was pretty much over the line after weeks of protracted negotiations.

But then, Yadah moved in swiftly to nick the 33-year-old from under the Harare giants’ noses.

Chiwonza claims they had agreed on a year’s contract worth US$20 000 with Billiat’s management team, a deal the two parties was set to sign yesterday on the player’s arrival from his base in South Africa.

However, Yadah finessed their contact with the player’s camp through former Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare who brokered the deal and, to DeMbare’s fury, Billiat completed the blockbuster move to the Miracle Boys on a one-year contract, in the biggest and most brutal transfer hijacks in local football.

NewsDay Sport understands Billiat’s first preference was the Glamour Boys, but his head was turned when Yadah paid his air ticket and offered in excess of US$50 000 per annum in salaries, in addition to US$20 000 signing on fees.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star will also get a high-end vehicle and a fully furnished flat in one of Harare’s affluent suburbs as part of the deal.

In the wake of Billiat’s U-turn, Chawonza tore into the player’s management with the Harare businessman accusing them of misleading the former Warriors star into making bad career decisions.

The outspoken administrator pointed to Billiat’s unceremonious exit from Kaizer Chiefs as another good exhibit of his handlers’ poor management skills.

Billiat is managed by Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa.

“People who are around him (Billiat) are ill-advising him. I think the blame goes to his managers, starting with the decision not to renew his stay at Kaizer Chiefs,” Chawonza said.

“He wasn’t supposed to leave Kaizer Chiefs in the first place. We tabled a similar offer as Yadah, but they were swift and gave him cash on Tuesday when he arrived.

“We had promised him US$10 000 this week on Thursday and the other US$10 000 next week. But Yadah gave him US$15 000 on the spot. With us, his salary was supposed to be US$3 000

“I think he listens too much to the people who are around him, yet they are ill-advising him. As a player, he has made some decisions that I did not expect of him.

“But it all boils down to his management because they are not leading him well. He was the one who initiated talks with us during George Chigova’s funeral. Then we initiated talks with our coach. Everything was on course until Tuesday,” Chawonza added.

While Dynamos were expecting Billiat to arrive in the country yesterday to finalise the deal, they were surprised when he touched down at the Harare International airport two days earlier, on Tuesday night.

He was welcomed by Yadah officials led by the club’s chief executive officer Admire Mango and chairman Everson Chatambudza before being whisked away in a convoy of top of the range cars into the city centre.

Yadah is expected to unveil Billiat today.

Chamisa Delivers Hard Lessons To “Mukoma” Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent| Opposition figure Nelson Chamisa called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to follow the example of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob in championing the principles of free and fair elections.

Chamisa made these remarks during a visit to the Namibian embassy in Harare to convey his condolences following Geingob’s passing on February 4.

Highlighting Geingob’s role as the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security, Chamisa emphasized the late leader’s commitment to addressing the contested election results of August 2023.

Chamisa, the former leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), had contested the election outcome, alleging rigging.

Representing the people of Zimbabwe who supported his cause, Chamisa asserted, “President Geingob was familiar to me in my personal capacity as a young African leader, but more importantly in the context of Sadc.”

He shared that his engagement with Geingob aimed at finding common ground and a solution to the disputed elections.

Describing Geingob as a democrat, Chamisa urged African leaders to follow his exemplary conduct.

He stressed that Geingob’s commitment to justice and freedom, along with his avoidance of arresting opponents or undermining election integrity, served as a noteworthy example.

Chamisa noted, “He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within Sadc, so for that reason, we honour him, and we pay our tribute to the great giant.”

He emphasized that the late Namibian President’s approach should serve as a lesson for regional leaders who face challenges in adhering to democratic, free, and fair election guidelines.

The August 2023 elections, flagged by election observer missions for not meeting local, regional, and international standards, prompted Chamisa’s party to advocate for a rerun, though without success.

Despite leaving the opposition party he unveiled in January 2022, Chamisa has not disclosed his next political move.

Mashonaland East Embraces Chamisa’s Blue Ship

By A Correspondent| Mashonaland East is the latest province to embrace former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Nelson Chamisa’s blue movement which is currently being spearheaded by recalled legislators Ostallos Siziba and Amos Chibaya.

Yesterday, Siziba shared images of their meeting in Mashonaland East with hundreds of people clad in blue outfits in attendance, in a move that shows how the yet to be named movement is already popular among the masses.

Chamisa resigned from CCC saying the movement had been hijacked by the ruling party and is yet to announce the name of his new movement.

Posting on Twitter, Siziba had this to say;

“We have arrived in Mashonaland East Province to converse with Citizens in this part of the country. In the face of great assault to authentic politics in this country- we stand tall! From Uzumba to Chikombo to Mudzi- Citizens are clear- they continue to pronounce the leadership of President Chamisa. We are thankful to these drivers of Alternative politics in communities. We keep moving- until victory.”

This was followed by eye-catching images of the meeting as posted below;

American Citizen In Airport Escape Drama

An American citizen, Austin Ray (50), has been fined US$300 for unlawfully escaping custody and entering the country without proper authorization.

Ray appeared before Magistrate Ruth Moyo facing accusations of violating the Immigration Act and escaping from legal custody.

According to the state prosecutor, Nomsa Kangara, the incident occurred on February 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, when Ray disembarked from an Airlink flight at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.

Upon reaching the immigration checkpoint, Ray presented his American passport with the intention of applying for a holiday visa.

However, it was revealed in court documents that Ray lacked the necessary written authorization from the minister, a requirement for entry.

Consequently, he was denied entry and detained in the Immigration temporary holding cells for impending deportation.

Allegations suggest that Ray managed to escape from lawful custody at the airport and illicitly entered the country before being apprehended by authorities.

Masvingo Magistrate Acquits 66 Villagers Arrested For Occupying State Land

Masvingo Provincial Magistrate Farai Gwitima has acquitted 66 villagers, who had been on trial for illegally occupying state land without authority.

The 66 villagers had been on trial at Masvingo Magistrates Court after they were arrested on 22 January 2024 by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers and charged for occupying gazetted land without lawful authority as defined in section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.

During trial, prosecutors alleged that the 66 villagers, who include some aged over 70 years, unlawfully held, used or occupied part of Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo province, which is deemed to be state land.

The prosecutors, who stated that the complainant in the matter was Charity Mumera, the Deputy Director in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, claimed that the villagers illegally occupied pieces of state land from 2000 to date in contravention of section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.

But the 66 villagers were on Thursday 22 February 2024 found not guilty and acquitted at the close of the prosecution case by Magistrate Gwitima, who ruled that prosecutors had failed to prove the existence of a government gazette entitling government to ownership of the pieces of the land allegedly occupied by the rural dwellers, which is an essential element of the alleged offence.

The 66 villagers, who were out of prison custody on bail, were represented by Frank Chirairo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

They had initially been charged for settling within a prohibited dam basin as defined in section 56(20) of the Water Act, wherein prosecutors alleged that they had unlawfully held, used or occupied Lake Mutirikwi basin, which is a prohibited dam basin.

The charges were later amended to contravening section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act.

Man Duped COS Papers

Harare Men Charged for Impersonating CID Officers in Fraudulent Scheme

In a shocking turn of events, two men from Harare have been dragged to court over allegations of impersonating Criminal Investigations Department (CID) police officers and engaging in fraudulent activities. Innocent Chimutsi, aged 44, and Tawanda Marabada, 36, found themselves before Harare Magistrate Mr. Dennis Mangosi, facing two counts of impersonation. The magistrate granted each of the accused US$100 bail, with their case remanded to April 4, pending trial.

The duo reportedly entangled themselves in a deceitful web in January 2024, when Andsen Patson stumbled upon a Facebook advertisement they had posted. This advert falsely offered Certificates of Sponsorship (COS) for individuals aiming to travel to the United Kingdom. Patson, eager to secure a COS for his wife’s travel plans, fell prey to their scheme. He transferred a hefty deposit of 4,000 British Pounds out of the total charge of 5,500 British Pounds to the fraudsters, following an agreement to settle the balance upon receipt of the COS. The payment was made through Patson’s uncle, who resides in the UK.

The plot thickened when Patson received what was purported to be an offer letter and the COS via a WhatsApp account. However, his excitement turned to dismay upon discovering that the COS was counterfeit during his wife’s visa application process. Attempts to reconnect with Chimutsi and Marabada proved futile, leading to a frustrating silence from the accused parties.

The situation took an even more bizarre turn on February 20, when Chimutsi, using the same Facebook account, reached out to Patson. This time, he deceitfully claimed to be a CID detective investigating the case—a case that Patson had never reported to the police. Sensing the anomaly, Patson consulted officers at Harare Central Police, who devised a sting operation.

Under police surveillance, Chimutsi brazenly demanded US$100 from Patson, allegedly for fuel expenses to recover the lost money, along with an additional demand of 500 British Pounds as compensation upon recovery. The trap was set for a meeting at the Monomutapa Building. The rendezvous led to the apprehension of Chimutsi and Marabada by ZRP Harare Central police officers, exposing their charade as fake detectives.

This case shines a spotlight on the alarming trend of social media being used as a platform for sophisticated scams, ensnaring unsuspecting victims through the guise of official authority. It serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance needed when dealing with online transactions and the importance of verifying the authenticity of such offers.

US National Escapes RGM Airport

In a recent ruling that underscores the strict enforcement of immigration laws, 50-year-old American citizen Austin Ray has been fined $300 following convictions for breaches of the Immigration Act and escaping from lawful custody in Zimbabwe. The proceedings, which concluded in the Harare Magistrate’s Court, saw Ray facing serious charges under the watchful eye of Magistrate Mrs. Ruth Moyo.

Ray, a holder of American passport number A07061933, found himself in legal trouble after arriving at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on February 19. His arrival, on Airlink flight number 42104, marked the beginning of his legal woes. The American national’s attempt to secure a holiday visa was thwarted when immigration officers discovered a discrepancy in his travel documentation. According to the State’s presentation, Ray was previously issued a notice requiring him to leave Zimbabwe by February 7, 2024, but he had failed to comply.

Lacking the necessary written authorization from the Minister to enter Zimbabwe, Ray was denied entry and subsequently placed in a temporary holding facility at the airport pending deportation. However, Ray’s situation took a dramatic turn when he unlawfully exited the holding cell and entered the country without a valid permit, thereby also escaping from lawful custody.

The court heard detailed accounts of how Ray managed to tamper with the cell’s locking mechanism, facilitating his unauthorized entry into Zimbabwe. This act of defiance not only violated the country’s Immigration Act but also raised serious concerns about the security measures at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

Magistrate Moyo’s ruling serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of flouting immigration regulations and the importance of respecting the legal and procedural frameworks of international travel. Ray’s case is a cautionary tale for travelers, emphasizing the need for adherence to immigration laws and the repercussions of attempting to circumvent them.- state media

You blame the Party that led them, ZAPU, because they had brought in shipments, shipments of arms from the Soviet Union.

I was called by Nyerere who said, ‘These shipments, what are they for? You are now an independent country.’ Shipments that they had received at the Dar es Salaam port. It was Nyerere who told me and he said, ‘Talk to K.K.’ I talked to Kaunda and Kaunda said, ‘Yes, they have given these to ZAPU.’ I said, ‘Why, because there is a government, a Party cannot receive shipments of arms.

Now what will they do with them?’ It was there, then, that we got these arms. They were hidden and naturally we started the action that was necessary. Already some of the arms had been distributed, you see; and this led then to the campaign that was called Gukurahundi.”

Businessman Family Held at Gunpoint in Terrifying Ordeal

In a distressing event that has deeply unsettled the Umguza community in Matabeleland North, a local businessman, who has requested anonymity for safety reasons, endured a night of sheer terror when armed robbers invaded his shop last Wednesday.

The ordeal began with what the businessman described as “the unmistakable sound of a gun” that abruptly disturbed his sleep. Compelled by fear and concern, he made his way to the shop, only to be met with a scene far exceeding his worst fears. “I was greeted by the horrifying sight of my wife and children on the floor, with three armed men towering over them,” he recounted, still visibly shaken by the memory.

The situation quickly escalated when one of the intruders struck him on the back of the head with the butt of a pistol, threatening to shoot. “One of the gunmen hit me viciously on the back of the head and threatened to shoot me if I didn’t comply,” he said, recalling the terrifying moment.

Following their demands, the robbers instructed him to lie on the floor alongside his family. “They demanded cash and cellphones, leaving us no choice but to comply in fear for our lives,” he explained. The criminals managed to flee with US$100 and two cellphones, leaving the family in a state of shock and trauma.

The businessman immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to a swift investigation and the arrest of 32-year-old Makhosini Mathobela. “We are doing everything in our power to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act,” a police spokesperson stated, confirming the ongoing efforts to track down the remaining suspects.

Mathobela, found in possession of a pistol, has been charged with armed robbery. He appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga, pleading not guilty to the charges. “The accused has been remanded in custody until February 26, as we continue our investigation,” the magistrate announced, signaling the judiciary’s resolve in dealing with the case.

As the community reels from this shocking crime, the police’s commitment to finding the remaining culprits offers a glimmer of hope. “We will not rest until justice is served,” the police spokesperson assured, reflecting the community’s collective desire for peace and safety to be restored. This incident is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that exist, even in seemingly safe communities, and the importance of vigilance and unity in the face of adversity.

Zim On Brink Of Total Disintegration – Nelson Chamisa

By A Correspondent

Prominent opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa recently made a poignant statement, declaring Zimbabwe as a nation on the brink of disintegration.

His words resonate deeply with the reality faced by many Zimbabweans, both at home and abroad.

The once-promising land of opportunity has become a shadow of its former self, grappling with political decay, economic turmoil, and social unrest.

Chamisa’s assessment paints a grim picture of a country plagued by broken families and widespread diaspora migration.

Indeed, it’s hard to find a household untouched by the exodus of loved ones seeking refuge in foreign lands.

This mass migration serves as a stark indicator of the magnitude of Zimbabwe’s crises – from political instability to economic collapse.

The political landscape of Zimbabwe is fractured, with deep-seated divisions undermining any semblance of unity or progress.

Years of authoritarian rule and contested elections have eroded public trust in the democratic process, leaving many disillusioned and disengaged.

The economy, once the breadbasket of Africa, now lies in tatters, crippled by corruption, mismanagement, and international sanctions.

One of the most devastating consequences of Zimbabwe’s decline is the brain drain – a phenomenon where the country’s best and brightest talent seek opportunities elsewhere.

This loss of human capital not only hampers economic development but also perpetuates a cycle of decline, further exacerbating the nation’s woes.

Moreover, Zimbabwe’s social fabric has been torn apart, with communities fractured along political, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines.

Trust in institutions is at an all-time low, and the sense of collective dignity has been severely undermined.

The once vibrant and proud nation now struggles to maintain its identity in the face of adversity.

However, amidst the despair, there remains a glimmer of hope – a hope rooted in the resilience and determination of Zimbabwe’s youth.

Chamisa’s call to action invokes the spirit of unity and solidarity that characterized the struggle for independence.

He reminds the nation of a time when the promise of a better future galvanized a generation to fight for change.

As Zimbabwe approaches a critical juncture, the voices of its youth grow louder, demanding accountability, transparency, and justice.

They refuse to accept the status quo and are determined to reclaim their country’s destiny.

Chamisa’s call for majority rule and a consensus popular government echoes the aspirations of a nation yearning for genuine representation and leadership.

Said Advocate Chamisa :

“The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but Zimbabwe’s salvation lies in the hands of its people – united in purpose and steadfast in their commitment to building a brighter tomorrow.

The echoes of hope that reverberated in Doroi camp before independence still resonate today.

The question remains: Are you in?”

The Harare-based club is poised to officially introduce the player during an unveiling ceremony in Harare scheduled for this Thursday.

Billiat, who arrived in the country on Tuesday evening, is set to reignite his career at the Miracle Boys at the age of 33.

Despite interest from other clubs such as Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum, Manica Diamonds, and CAPS United, Yadah managed to sway the midfielder with a compelling offer.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star had been without a club for the past eight months following his departure from the Soweto giants.

Yadah’s Chairperson, Everson Chatambudza, confirmed the acquisition in a telephone interview, disclosing that Billiat’s unveiling is scheduled for Thursday in Harare.

Billiat, who previously had a brief spell with Harare giants CAPS United under head coach Lloyd Chitembwe in 2010 before moving to South Africa to join Ajax Cape Town, now looks forward to a fresh chapter with Yadah FC.

Not content with just one goal, Chiwome continued to impress, completing his brace in the 70th minute with a sublime strike into the far post corner, leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance.

Minors Electrocuted During Sleep

THE two children who were electrocuted in Kuwadzana suburb of Harare on Monday have been buried at Mbudzi Cemetery, with the family and community battling to come to terms with the incident.

What was supposed to be a normal morning for the Makwindi family, has left the Kuwadzana community in shock as two of the children were electrocuted in their sleep.

Junior Makwindi (4) and Tinotenda Tineyi Maketo (6) were electrocuted after getting into contact with an upright refrigerator in a room they were sleeping.

Fighting tears, Faith Makwindi, an aunt to the deceased, narrated the sad incident.

“Junior and Tinotenda were sleeping in the dining room together with other children. I woke up early and was doing the dishes outside. I then sent Tino who was also awake to wake the other two up and get ready for school.

When he tried lifting Junior up, he felt the electrical current and dropped him on the floor and came out to call me. I went inside to see when I started shaking them and they were not responsive,” she said.

“I them called Gogo who stays next door who came in and looked at them and told me to take them to the clinic.

We carried them to the clinic not knowing they were already dead. When we got there, the nurses pronounced them dead. I’m still in shock and hurt as I’m the one who raised them and was a mother to them. Their mother is my sister, but I was the one staying with them.”

Their grandfather, Mr Ignatius Makwindi who was at work on the fateful day, is yet to come to terms with the shocking incident.

“I left home for work on Monday morning, but before I got to work, I received news of their death. The fridge is still new and I don’t understand how they were electrocuted. ZESA has since disconnected electricity so that they ascertain what really happened,” he narrated.

The family has been robbed of two innocent lives that will never reach their full potential nor will their laughter and echoes be felt in the home.

Chamisa Shows-Up In Blue

By Political Reporter- Former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has shown up three weeks after dumping the Zanu PF infiltrated opposition.

Chamisa was Thursday seen at the Namibian Embassy in Harare, paying his condolences following the death of the country’s President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on 04 February this year.

Speaking to journalists after he signed a condolence book at the Namibian Embassy, Chamisa said he was representing millions of Zimbabweans who support him. He said:

I am here precisely representing the people of Zimbabwe who believe in the alternative and who have supported and continue to support [me].

You are aware that we recently held our elections, the 23 August 2023 elections. Over two million people voted.

It is those voices I carry, so I don’t need a political party as I come… It’s not about politics, it’s about honouring a giant.

You are aware that President Hage Geinngob was familiar to me, in my capacity as a leader, as a young African, but more importantly in the context of SADC.

So I am here to pay my condolences to this giant, to this great icon, to this doyen of democracy, to the man who contributed so much, not just to Namibia but also to Africa, and not just to Africa but to humanity.

He made a difference. He was a democrat. He was a believer in justice and freedom and he did not arrest opponents, he did not incarcerate those who differed with him.

He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within SADC, so for that reason we honour him and we are coming here to pay our tribute to the great giant and to say, that he has laid the framework, he has created the path, and ours is to walk in his footsteps.

Quizzed on his next move after resigning from CCC which he founded in January 2022, Chamisa said:

Once we are ready, like I said, I am going to give Zimbabweans a clear direction.

Chamisa announced his resignation and dissociation from CCC on 25 January, saying the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF through its proxies.

Mnangagwa Allies Throw Chiwenga Under The Bus

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF MP for Bikita South, Energy Mutodi, is leading an anti-Chiwenga campaign and wants President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s tenure to be extended by another term.

The move sparked an unexpected wave of enthusiasm among Zanu PF supporters, leaving Vice President Constantino Chiwenga noticeably absent.

Mutodi, who spearheads an apparent anti-Chiwenga campaign, boldly declared on social media platform X that President Mnangagwa deserved a third term, garnering support from ZANU PF Masvingo province.

The provincial chairman, Robson Mavhenyengwa, echoed this sentiment during the event, leading the crowd in the chant, “2030 vaMnangagwa vanenge vachipo!” to resounding cheers.

Vice President Kembo Mohadi, in introducing Mnangagwa, embraced the newfound slogan, further fueling speculation about a possible constitutional amendment. President Mnangagwa addressed the crowd, responding to the enthusiastic slogan, stating that only “Jehovah” knows when he will step down, dismissing any uncertainties about his future.

However, Chiwenga, the current ZANU PF vice president and second secretary, was notably absent from the event, being on an official trip to Russia.

The gathering intensified rumours of a growing divide within the ruling party, with reports suggesting loyalists of Mnangagwa are exploring options to eliminate term limits through a constitutional amendment.

The reported plan to amend the constitution faces significant hurdles, requiring approval by two-thirds of lawmakers in both the National Assembly and the Senate. Additionally, constitutional provisions stipulate that an incumbent cannot benefit from an amendment to a term limit provision, adding complexity to any potential extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency.
As the political landscape in Zimbabwe continues to evolve, the absence of Vice President Chiwenga at the event raises questions about the power dynamics within Zanu PF and the future trajectory of the party’s leadership.

I Am Not Going Anywhere – Emmerson Mnangagwa

Zanu PF Youths Advocate for President Mnangagwa’s Third Term on National Youth Day

22nd February 2024

By Wezhira Munya

Zanu PF youth members from across Zimbabwe convened at the Mushagashe Training Centre in Masvingo on February 21, 2024, to honor the birthday of former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe.

During preparations for Youth Day, a Zanu PF meeting featured a youth member from Masvingo province chanting, “President Mnangagwa will be there in 2030,” sparking online speculation about Mnangagwa’s potential bid for a third term.

At 81, Mnangagwa is currently in his second and final presidential term following disputed harmonized elections in August 2023.

However, there is a faction within Zanu PF advocating for his extended tenure, led by Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Masvingo Zanu-PF provincial chairperson Mr. Robson Mavhenyengwa, and Zanu PF Bikita South member of parliament.

At the Mushagashe event, Mr. Robson Mavhenyengwa, the Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial chairman, boldly declared Mnangagwa’s presidency in 2030, drawing mixed reactions from Zimbabweans.

However, critics, including the pro-Chiwenga faction, warn that another term under Mnangagwa’s leadership could exacerbate existing challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and high education and healthcare costs.

Support for Mnangagwa’s extended presidency was echoed by Zanu PF’s third vice president, Kembo Mohadi, and Zanu PF Bikita South member of parliament, Energy Mutodi, who hailed the slogan “2030 vaMnangagwa will be there” as a new rallying cry.

President Mnangagwa himself responded to the speculation, stating, “Those saying Mnangagwa will be there in 2030, was there any suggestion that I won’t be there? Only one person knows when I’m going, and that’s Jehovah.”

Despite these sentiments, Mnangagwa previously committed to respecting the constitution, which limits presidents to two terms, in a 2018 CNN interview.

Any attempt to extend Mnangagwa’s term beyond two requires a constitutional amendment, necessitating a two-thirds majority vote in both the National Assembly and the Senate, as well as approval in a national referendum, according to Zimbabwe’s Constitution.

Although Zanu PF currently holds a two-thirds majority in Parliament, cooperation from some opposition members would be needed in the Senate to pass such an amendment.

However, public rejection, as seen in 2000, could thwart these efforts.

Ultimately, the decision regarding Mnangagwa’s potential third term rests with the Zimbabwean people and the constitutional processes governing presidential term limits.

Self-Styled Traditional Healer In Trouble For Fooling Woman To Divorce Hubby

A 60-year-old self-styled traditional healer was arrested on Tuesday following a misunderstanding with a married woman he allegedly convinced to divorce her husband before impregnating and “kidnapping” her later.

The traditional healer, Darlington Mabudu, popularly known as Sekuru Nyashanu in Epworth, allegedly used false prophecies to trap Faith Macha.

He charged Macha US$150 for “cleansing” her but she failed to raise the money.

Mabudu allegedly told her that her husband was behind her misfortunes and she had to divorce him.

He reportedly told Faith that she had to accompany him to Shamva for further help, where they ended up staying as husband and wife.

Speaking to a local tabloid, Macha said he met Mabudu along a road and he gave her a “prophecy” there and then.

She said:
Sekuru met me along the road and convinced me that he had the spiritual powers to see my life issues. I informed my mother about it and we consulted him, but failed to pay the US$150 he demanded.
He later agreed to conduct cleansing ceremonies for free.

Sekuru convinced my mother that he had to take me to various spirit mediums in Shamva and Westgate where we ended up sharing the same bed.

He ordered me to divorce my husband claiming that he was the one causing my misfortunes and to also surrender my child to him.
Macha said after they returned from Shamva, she had a sexual relationship with another man but after she fell pregnant, he denied responsibility saying the dates did not tally.

She said: This was caused by Sekuru Nyashanu and I ended up staying with Sekuru at his friend’s house in Westgate.

Sekuru Nyashanu confiscated my mobile phone and my mother looked for me until she learnt about where I was and came to take me by force.

Sekuru Nyashanu is responsible for my pregnancy. I fell for Sekuru Nyashanu’s trap and believed his false visions.

He forced me to divorce my husband and impregnated me.
Cases of fake spiritualists who take advantage of naive people, especially women are common in Zimbabwe.

Over the years, countless people have lost cash and other cherished possessions to bogus traditional healers, fake faith healers and pastors, while some women have been raped by these charlatans.

Chamisa Signs Condolences Book For Late Namibian President Hage Geingob

Advocate Chamisa today visited the Namibian Embassy in Harare to pay his condolences following the death of that country’s late President Hage Geingob.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa this month signed the condolences book and he described the late leader as a ‘GIANT’ in Africa politics and leadership.

Welshman Ncube Throws Tshabangu Under The Bus

Acting president of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Professor Welshman Ncube, has refuted allegations that he was involved in Sengezo Tshabangu’s actions and responsible for the recalls of party representatives.

Contrary to claims that he and Tendai Biti orchestrated Tshabangu’s actions to undermine the party and target former party leader Nelson Chamisa, Professor Ncube clarified that he initially learned about the recalls from a friend abroad. Dismissing the possibility of Chamisa initiating the recalls, he investigated the matter further, only to find out that Tshabangu had indeed signed the letters without consulting party leadership.

Ncube recounted the unfolding of events during the second wave of recalls, which coincided with his mourning period for his late mother. Despite assurances from Tshabangu that he hadn’t initiated the recalls, the acting president later discovered that 23 individuals had been recalled. This revelation led Ncube to emphasize that Tshabangu was acting independently and not under anyone’s control.

Addressing the ongoing challenges within the party, particularly the Tshabangu issue, Professor Ncube stressed the importance of tackling these problems head-on. He acknowledged the existence of pending court cases and affirmed the party’s commitment to addressing current issues, expressing confidence in their ability to overcome challenges.

Furthermore, Ncube acknowledged fundamental differences within the party, citing the suspension of crucial meetings that exacerbated the situation. He urged honesty in acknowledging these differences as genuine political and ideological disparities rather than gloating over them. As the acting party leader, Ncube affirmed their commitment to resolving internal conflicts and confronting the challenges facing the opposition party.

Statesman Chamisa Continues To Tackle National Issues While Welshman And Crew Focus On Him

Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa continues to show his statesmanship by tackling national problems facing the country while his adversaries focus on him.

CCC acting President Welshman Ncube on Tuesday appeared on CITE attacking Chamisa labelling him a dictator among other labels but the 2023 Presidential candidate is unfazed in his quest to fight for every citizen.

Yesterday, Chamisa decried the destruction of national pride by the Zanu PF regime.

He said due to the prevailing political and economic problems, Zimbabwe was continuously losing its best brains to other countries thereby assaulting the national dignity of the Citizens.

“A COUNTRY IN TURMOIL…Zimbabwe is a sad case of a disintegrating nation upon broken families. Not a single family is without a member/s living in the diaspora. This is an indicator of the magnitude of the prevailing political decay and economic crisis. The politics is broken. The economy is in tatters. We’ve lost our best and finest brains. Our most productive and active workforce is productive and active in other lands to the detriment of national interest. Our national pride has been severely undermined! Mliswa Fights His Uncle Didymus Mutasa Over Rusape Land

Former State Security Minister Didymus Mutasa has refuted claims made by his nephew, Temba Mliswa, regarding share ownership in Muungwe Investments Private Limited as the fight for vast pieces of land in Rusape rages.

Mutasa said he owns 100% of the shares in the company, contrary to Mliswa’s assertion that holds a 10% stake.

Mliswa, Mutasa, Martin Naivada Mutasa and Mabel Mananiseyi Maril Dete are listed as directors of Muungwe Investments.

The fallout between Mliswa and other directors follows the release of minutes of a meeting allegedly held on January 14 this year in Rusape authorising Mutasa (Didymus) to enter into a land development agreement with Brobondo (Private) Limited on the land in question.

The land in question is held under Deed of Transfer number 7972/2008, Deed of Grant number 6600/2008 and Deed of Grant 8874/2008 in Lupane.

Mliswa on Tuesday said there was a plot to elbow him out in a grand land heist.

In response to Mliswa’s allegations, Mutasa yesterday said Mliswa and Mabel Dete were no longer board members of Muungwe Investments. Dete and Mliswa reportedly resigned from the company in 2017 and 2021, respectively.

According to Mutasa, Mliswa was removed from the directorship structure in February 2021.

“The current directors of Muungwe Investments Private Limited are myself and Maivada Chikomba Mutasa. Removal of Temba Mliswa from directorship structure; I removed him in February 2021,” Mutasa said.

“I wrote him a letter to that effect. It was sent by email and also delivered to his Borrowdale address,” said Mutasa. “He did not challenge this removal then.

“He did not participate in any business of Muungwe Investments Private Limited or attend any meetings of the company, be it annual general meeting or emergency general meeting.”

Mutasa claimed that Mliswa did not contest his removal from the board and did not participate in any business or meetings of the company thereafter.

Mutasa claimed there was an agreement in 2015 to potentially allocate up to 30% of the company’s shares to Mliswa and Dete in exchange for their contribution to the land development.

He, however, said the agreement never materialised because the housing development project in Rusape had not commenced at that time.

National Youth Day Turned Into A Zanu PF Campaign For Mnangagwa’s Third Term

A Zanu PF lawmaker on Wednesday said Zanu PF had “offered” President Emmerson Mnangagwa a third term in office after several party officials chanted a slogan that the 81-year-old “will still be there in 2030.”

Mnangagwa began his second and final term after winning disputed elections last August, but there is a new push among his loyalists to amend the constitution to scrap term limits.

The amendment would require affirmation by two thirds of lawmakers in the National Assembly, and again in the Senate. Even then, the constitution says the incumbent cannot benefit from an amendment to a term limit provision, requiring movers of such a plan to take it to a public referendum.

“Zanu PF Masvingo province today offered President ED Mnangagwa a third term in office as president of Zimbabwe,” Bikita South MP Energy Mutodi wrote on X while attending Youth Day celebrations at Mushagashe Training Centre in Masvingo, attended by Mnangagwa.

He added: “Amid cheers, whistling and ululations, the provincial chairman Robson Mavhenyengwa chanted the slogan ‘2030 vaMnangagwa vanenge vachipo!’ to a deafening applause.”

Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who took to the podium to introduce Mnangagwa, also repeated the slogan.

“Your Excellency, before I invite you to take the podium, I was thrilled by the new slogan. Allow me to chant the slogan,” Mohadi said.

Mnangagwa’s second and final term expires in 2028, and the slogan’s crafters appear to be suggesting that he will be well into his third term in 2030.

Mnangagwa made reference to the new slogan during his speech, remarking: “Those saying Mnangagwa will be there in 2030, was there any suggestion that I won’t be there? Only one person knows when I’m going, and that’s Jehovah.”

In a 2018 interview with CNN, months after coming to power through a military coup, Mnangagwa said he would respect the constitution and serve just two terms.

“The maximum is two terms, for any president, and I will abide by that,” Mnangagwa said.

In another interview with Zimpapers Television Network ahead of the August 2023 elections, Mnangagwa said: “I am going for my second term, this is my last term.”

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is on a trip to Russia and missed Wednesday’s event, is the frontrunner to replace Mnangagwa as Zanu PF’s leader. Attempts to extend Mnangagwa’s time in office would rile his supporters and stoke factionalism in Zanu PF.

Harare Man Tortured by CID Officers, Forced to Pay Bribe for Freedom

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a harrowing incident that sheds light on the use of excessive force and corruption within law enforcement, a man in Harare was subjected to severe torture by two officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), resulting in him passing blood-stained urine. The officers, identified as Wellington Mlambo, 43, and Gracious Selemani, 35, who are stationed at Braeside, have been charged with assault and criminal abuse of office. They made their initial court appearance before Magistrate Ruth Moyo on Monday and have been remanded until March 18, each granted bail at US$100.

The ordeal began on the morning of February 15, when the victim was apprehended at Mbare Musika under accusations of receiving stolen property, charges which he vehemently denied. Despite his denials, it is alleged that upon their arrival at the CID Braeside Police Station, Mlambo and Selemani engaged in a brutal interrogation session, assaulting the man under his feet with a baton in a vile attempt to extract a confession.

In a distressing turn of events, the court was informed that the two officers then demanded a US$150 bribe from the complainant to secure his release. The complainant’s brother complied, providing the demanded amount to the corrupt officers. Furthermore, the victim was coerced into paying a US$15 fine for purportedly failing to maintain a register of second-hand goods, an accusation added to compound his woes.

The complainant and his brother were eventually released, but the nightmare did not end upon leaving the police station. It was on their journey home that the victim realized the severity of his injuries, as he discovered he was passing blood-stained urine—a chilling testament to the brutality he endured under the custody of Mlambo and Selemani.

Acting on the complainant’s report, an investigation was launched, culminating in the arrest of the two CID officers. The case has sparked outrage and concern over the conduct of law enforcement officials, highlighting a pressing need for systemic reforms to address issues of torture and corruption within the ranks. As the legal proceedings unfold, many await justice for the victim and a stand against such egregious abuses of power.

Drug Lords Target S*x Workers

Source: ZBC News

DRUG kingpins have found a haven among commercial sex workers, who have become their latest prey for pushing dangerous substances in Harare.

ZBC News took the streets of Harare and uncovered a horrid tale, one of Tyrese and his peers, who have fallen victim to the ugly world of drug and substance abuse.

His hands move with a lot of unease as he does his dishes, the effects of crystal meth abuse for close to three years.

It takes him at least 30 minutes to complete the chore, all the while trying to control the involuntary shaking of his hands.

Tyrese (not his real name) has agreed to open up on this chapter of his life, but only if his identity is concealed.

Life on the streets was hard, he says, but there are stories yet to be told.

“There are people who are well up who come with these drugs on the streets. My brother, I am talking about bags and bags of crystal meth being dumped on the streets. They target children on the streets and school-going children. Sometimes they just come and leave their product and they will then come and collect their money later. This is a syndicate that happens mostly around 4 pm,” he said.

“Never my brother, these people don’t touch these drugs. These are people who are smartly dressed. You cannot tell that these are the devils selling such substances,” added Tyrese.

Drug and substance abuse is moving with ruthless ferocity among youths as the peddlers come up with new devious methods.

The latest of their prey are commercial sex workers in the capital city.

“I can tell you that this is their new customer base. They are selling and using commercial sex workers to push the illicit products,” said Tyrese.

It is an underworld of vile, and the villains prowl on the innocence of young children and the vulnerable.

Mnangagwa Incarnates Into Mugabe

In a move that resonates with the late Robert Mugabe’s lengthy tenure, Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa, popularly known as “ED,” is seemingly embarking on a path that could extend his stay in power beyond the conventional limits. Despite Mnangagwa’s denial of such ambitions, the echoes of his predecessor’s grip on the presidency are becoming unmistakable as discussions around a third term gain momentum.

Drawing parallels with former Zambian President Chiluba’s infamous remark, “Power is sweet,” the unfolding scenario in Zimbabwe reflects a similar reluctance to relinquish authority. Chiluba’s attempt for a third term, despite constitutional restrictions, underscores the magnetic allure of political power—a sentiment that appears to be shared by Mnangagwa’s camp.

Currently in the early stages of his second five-year term, technically Mnangagwa could argue this is only his second term, considering he completed Mugabe’s tenure following a coup in November 2017. This nuance offers Mnangagwa a potential loophole to seek an additional term, which would secure him an even more comfortable retirement package, or possibly pave the way for a life presidency, depending on the political landscape’s evolution.

The push for a third term, while denied by Mnangagwa, raises critical questions about the motives and pressures driving this campaign. With Zimbabwe grappling with significant economic challenges, the focus on extending a political career seems ill-timed and fraught with controversy.

Critics argue that no one seems capable of halting this apparent quest for extended power, suggesting a resignation to the inevitability of Mnangagwa’s continued leadership. This sentiment is captured in the local saying, “zvipei doro,” which translates to “just let it happen,” indicating a collective desire to move past political power struggles to address more pressing national concerns.

As Zimbabwe marks the 21st of February, a date that used to celebrate Mugabe’s birthday and now serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of power dynamics, the nation finds itself at a crossroads. Will Mnangagwa’s tenure usher in a new era of prolonged leadership, or will it prompt a reevaluation of governance and term limits in Zimbabwe?

The unfolding events in Zimbabwe underscore the complex interplay between power, politics, and public sentiment, as the nation contemplates a future that may very well echo its past.

Mnangagwa Here To Stay, Says Zanu PF Activist

The political landscape of Zimbabwe often feels like a theatrical stage where drama unfolds daily, leaving citizens questioning the competence and integrity of their leaders.

The recent statement by a ZANU PF activist advocating for the extension of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office until 2030 is yet another episode in this ongoing saga.

In any democratic society, the constitution serves as the cornerstone, outlining the fundamental principles and guidelines for governance.

However, it seems that for some within ZANU PF, the constitution is more of a hindrance than a document to uphold.

The push for the extension of Mnangagwa’s term blatantly disregards the constitutional provisions regarding presidential term limits, raising concerns about the party’s commitment to democratic principles.

A video circulating on social media captures the fervent plea of a ZANU PF activist, calling for Mnangagwa’s prolonged stay in power.

This level of flawed thinking within ZANU PF brings the question: Are the party’s actions driven by strategic planning or mere whims?

It’s no secret that politics often revolves around power dynamics, with leaders maneuvering to secure their positions of authority.

The push for Mnangagwa’s extended term could be interpreted as a move to consolidate power within ZANU PF, ensuring continuity and control.

However, such maneuvers risk alienating the populace and undermining the very principles of democracy that Zimbabweans strive to uphold.

Amidst the clamor for power and tenure extension, voices of reason must not be silenced.

Citizens have a duty to hold their leaders accountable, demanding adherence to the rule of law and respect for democratic institutions.

The call for Mnangagwa to step down at the end of his constitutionally mandated term reflects a desire for transparency, fairness, and genuine leadership within Zimbabwean politics.

In the grand narrative of Zimbabwean politics, the question of whether ZANU PF is full of dunderheads is subjective, with opinions varying based on personal experiences and observations.

However, what remains undisputed is the need for ethical leadership, adherence to the rule of law, and respect for democratic principles.

As Zimbabwe navigates its political future, the actions and decisions of its leaders will ultimately determine whether the label of “dunderheads” holds true or if a legacy of visionary governance can be established for generations to come.

Welshman Ncube Justifies Grabbing Power From Chamisa

By-The Tshabangu’s CCC acting president Welshman Ncube has accused former party leader Nelson Chamisa of turning the fledging opposition party into a one-man show before he resigned.

Chamisa resigned from CCC last month citing infiltration after self-imposed interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu snatched the party from him and recalled legislators and councillors.
Chamisa unveiled the CCC in January 2022 after losing control of the MDC Alliance to Douglas Mwonzora.
CCC has since split into three factions: One led by Chamisa’s loyalists, another by Tshabangu and the one which has coalesced under the MDC 2019 structures, with Ncube emerging as its first acting president.
Ncube, Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi-Kore are acting CCC presidents on a 90-day rotational basis.
In a wide-ranging interview with Bulawayo-based online news channel CITE, Ncube indirectly took a dig at Chamisa’s leadership style, which he said created the crisis bedevilling the opposition.
“We got here because we now had a situation where(by) collectively, the democratic collective leadership no longer worked as one and we were unable to meet as elected individuals, as elected leadership, to address the challenges that we were facing,” he said.
Ncube said there were fundamental differences in the party, with key meetings and other platforms for engagement suspended.
“We had suspended meetings of the national council. Some of us believe that we are fighting Zanu PF which is authoritarian, which is undemocratic and which has one centre of power. We must demonstrate that we are the opposite of Zanu PF,” he said.
“We must do while in opposition things we are expected to do when we get into government, not running an autocratic, an authoritarian, theocratic opposition then expect sincere genuine people to believe that once in power, you no longer believe in autocracy and theocracy.
“These are the differences we had in opposition.”
Ncube said he was elected to be the first acting vice-president of the opposition because of his seniority.
“Now that the president of the party had resigned and dissociated himself with the party, it was necessary for us to step up to the plate, to take responsibility and to ensure that the party is brought back on track, and hence that we will rotate,” he said.
“And the standing committee decided that I will go first as being the most senior of the three vice-presidents as elected at Gweru, so that, therefore, I have been mandated in the next 90 days to do all that I can, working with the other vice-presidents, working with the secretariat of the party, working with the rest of the departments of the party to address the challenges that the party face today.”
Ncube revealed that he last spoke to Chamisa two months ago.
He distanced himself from Tshabangu.
Previous reports said Biti and Ncube were some of the disgruntled party bigwigs behind Tshabangu as they sought to snatch the party from Chamisa.
Chamisa has not announced his next move since he stepped down as CCC leader.
Some CCC legislators have chosen to stay put, saying they could not resign in solidarity with Chamisa because of lack of clarity on the way forward. Newsday

Welshman Labels Chamisa A Dictator, Which Is Worse Than Zanu PF

By Political Reporter – Welshman Ncube, the acting president of Tshabangu’s CCC, has shocked the country and said that Nelson Chamisa is a dictator who rules with an iron fist, whereas Zanu PF does.

Chamisa departed from the Zanu PF-infiltrated opposition in January following a series of recalls initiated by Ncube, Tendai Biti, and Sengezo Tshabangu, targeting several MPs aligned with him (Chamisa).

The Biti-Ncube alliance sought court assistance to authenticate the recalls, raising suspicions of collaboration with Zanu PF, which holds sway over the judiciary.

In an extensive interview with Bulawayo-based online news outlet CITE on Tuesday, Ncube said Chamisa’s leadership style precipitated the crisis engulfing the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party, stating:

“We got here because collectively, the democratic leadership no longer worked as one. We were unable to meet as elected individuals, as elected leadership, to address the challenges we were facing.”

He said because of this, they suspended national council meetings.

Ncube clarified that his post-Chamisa role is rotational with Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi Kore.

Initially elected as MDC Alliance vice presidents in 2019, they maintained their positions until January 2022 when the MDC Alliance rebranded to CCC.

However, they gradually lost influence as Chamisa centralized power within the party.

Explaining his taking over as the first acting president, Ncube stated:

“Now that the party’s president had resigned and dissociated himself from the party, we neecentralised up, take responsibility, and ensure the party is brought back on track. The standing committee decided that I would go first, being the most senior of the three vice presidents elected at Gweru. Therefore, I have been mandated in the next 90 days to address the challenges the party faces, working collaboratively with other vice presidents, the party secretariat, and various departments.”

Ncube revealed that he last spoke to Chamisa two months ago and distanced himself from the recall of CCC MPs and councillors spearheaded by Sengezo Tshabangu.

We Are Solid, Intact, Claims Tshabangu

Amidst the turbulence, Tshabangu released a statement emphasizing the steadfastness of the CCC’s stance.

“Fellow citizens, we’re on the correct path to the long-awaited democratic change which was championed by our late icon President Tsvangirai,” he asserted.

“We haven’t lost the footprints; in fact, those changing colors like a chameleon have already lost the way. Aluta continua!”

Tshabangu reiterated the party’s commitment to democracy, unity, and tolerance, echoing the principles set forth by the late President Tsvangirai. “Our journey towards a democratic, united, and tolerant opposition is ongoing,” he stated adamantly.

“We’re not swayed by negative forces of darkness, and we will not succumb to political opportunists and dictators seeking to sow divisions and discord.”

Highlighting the party’s determination to uphold its values and principles, Tshabangu announced plans for an upcoming elective Congress.

Despite the challenges and uncertainties, Tshabangu’s statement underscores the CCC’s unwavering resolve to navigate through the current turmoil and pursue its vision for a better Zimbabwe.

Villagers Regret Voting For Mnangagwa

Villagers evicted from a settlement near Great Zimbabwe Monuments under Chief Mugabe have said that they regret voting for Zanu PF in last year’s general election alleging that the party is reneging on its land and farm security promises.

Mai Titi In Fresh Scandal

By Showbiz Reporter-Socialite Mai Titi, also known as Felistas Murata, is facing serious allegations of involvement in multiple murders dating back to 2021. The accusations, which have sparked widespread attention, suggest that Mai Titi may have been complicit in the killings, allegedly aided by a security company she was affiliated with before her incarceration for fraud.

Details of the alleged crimes emerged from a whistleblower who disclosed the information during public outbursts, leading to intense scrutiny of Mai Titi’s past actions. The whistleblower, speaking anonymously to journalist Ketina Masomere, claims to have recorded evidence implicating Mai Titi and the security company in the murders.

“I recorded everything during those moments, when I was not suspecting that she is the one who killed the people,” the whistleblower stated. “That incident could be the evidence Kamuchacha and that security company that was wearing yellow uniform committed murder.”

Furthermore, the whistleblower hinted at the involvement of others who witnessed the events, suggesting that testimony from multiple individuals could corroborate the allegations. The motive behind the alleged crimes remains unclear, with speculation swirling around Mai Titi’s personal circumstances at the time.

These accusations come in the wake of previous revelations implicating Mai Titi in plots to harm individuals, including a businesswoman based in Marlborough, Harare. Fortunately, the intended victim was reportedly tipped off by individuals hired by Mai Titi, averting potential harm.

Welshman Ncube Reveals How They Ousted Chamisa

By Political Reporter – The acting Tshabangu’s CCC president, Welshman Ncube, has launched accusations against Nelson Chamisa, claiming he practices autocratic leadership.

Chamisa’s departure from the Zanu PF-infiltrated opposition follows a series of recalls initiated by Ncube, Tendai Biti, and Sengezo Tshabangu, targeting several MPs aligned with Chamisa.

Masvingo Man Takes Hustling To A Whole New Level

A Masvingo man who was nabbed while selling five lion heads valued at US$100 000 yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo facing poaching charges.

Patson Ndhlovu (32) who was remanded out of custody on US$200 bail will return to court on March 18 for trial.

Allegations are that on February 17 this year, detectives from CID Flora and Fauna Unit in Harare received information that Ndlovu and his accomplices were in possession of five lion heads and were looking for potential buyers.

The detectives swiftly reacted to the information and proceeded to the scene where they carried out some surveillance and observed the accused person and his accomplices approaching the team’s advance party vehicle which was being driven by a detective.

The accused person and his accomplices then entered the vehicle which was parked at Harare’s Baines clinic. The vehicle then drove towards Mazowe Street.

While observing from a distant, the backup team saw their colleague together with the accused and his accomplices disembarking from the motor vehicle and enter Mazoe Mansions Flats.

After a while the detectives noticed the accused person carrying a blue and purple bag which he placed it at the back of the advance team’s pickup truck. The detectives then approached the advance team’s car and introduced themselves by producing police identity cards and asked the accused person to produce a permit or licence authorising him to possess the lion heads.

The accused failed to produce the documents, leading to his arrest and recovery of five lion heads which will be produced in court as exhibits.

Jah Signal Settles Copyright Feud With The Charambas

Dancehall singer Jah Signal has reached out to the Charambas and made peace with them following a nasty fallout last week over copyright infringement by the young artiste.

The Charambas caused YouTube to pull down Jah Signal’s two songs Shinga Muroora and Tengai Mafuta after they accused him of recording two renditions of their gospel songs without consent.

In a statement, Jah Signal’s management said the two parties had met and resolved their differences.

“On behalf of the Swaah family and fans, Jah Signal would like to make and let it be known that following a meeting with The Man of God, Pastor and Amai Charamba, an amicable position has been reached that will remain private and confidential to the two parties,” the statement read.

“Jah Signal expresses deep remorse and extends his sincere apologies to The Charambas and their fans for any distress caused by the unintended infringement. He acknowledges his mistake and is committed to learning from this experience, as well as implementing measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

“In light of this settlement, we urge all fans to respect the decision reached. We urge all to refrain from attacking, dissing, or any form of abuse, social media or otherwise, directed towards either The Charambas or Jah Signal/Swaah Family. Let us foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding as we move forward.”

The Charambas also confirmed the development on their social media handles.

Welshman Says CCC Party Was Turned Into A One-Man Show

Ncube has accused former party leader Nelson Chamisa of turning the fledging opposition party into a one-man show before he resigned.

Mnangagwa Security Harasses Motorist(s)

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s aides have caused chaos in Masvingo ahead of the Zanu PF leader’s s visit to the town this week.

His overzealous security team engaged in aggressive behaviour Tuesday towards a truck driver who allegedly delayed the Presidential motorcade in the city centre.

While conducting drills ahead of Mnangagwa’s scheduled for today, his security details encountered a delay when a truck failed to yield promptly to the advancing motorcade.
In response, members of Mnangagwa’s security details disembarked from an accompanying vehicle and confronted the startled truck driver, instructing him to clear the path for the motorcade.
The situation escalated as state security agents joined in, intensifying the interrogation of the driver.
Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene, with one commuter omnibus driver from Masvingo Downtown Terminus stating, “The last two vehicles in the motorcade stopped, and security details then interrogated the driver.
I think he did not realize what was taking place. Upon realizing that the Presidential motorcade was approaching, the truck driver panicked.”
This incident highlights the tense and sometimes heavy-handed nature of security operations surrounding high-profile visits, raising concerns about the treatment of civilians in such situations.

Latest On Ivy Kombo Trial

Worth $100,000 Faces ChargesA 32-year-old man from Masvingo, Patson Ndlovu, has been apprehended for the unlawful possession of five dried lion heads valued at US$100,000.

He appeared in court, charged with contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.

Ndlovu’s arrest followed a tip-off to the police regarding his alleged sale of lion heads. Police purportedly set a trap, posing as potential buyers.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Ndlovu failed to produce a license permitting him to sell animals, leading to his arrest.

In a separate incident, four individuals impersonating police officers have been arraigned in court for allegedly stealing a car under the guise of arresting the complainant for a traffic offense.

Prosper Tatenda Thomo (29), Maxwell Musvisvi (34), Rodwell Dongo (41), and Norman Mungwarari (31) have been remanded in custody for the alleged theft.

Meanwhile, the trial involving gospel musician Ivy Kombo, her husband Admire Kasi, and Huggins Duri has been postponed once more.

The delay arose due to the state’s application to introduce an email extract as evidence, supporting claims by a witness.

The defense raised objections, and the presiding magistrate is expected to rule on the matter next week. The trial is scheduled to resume on March 4th.

The trio is facing charges of fraud, with Duri allegedly circumventing legal procedures to procure certificates for Kombo and Kasi to practice law in Zimbabwe.

Ivy Kombo Trial

In the latest twist in the trial of Ivy Kombo and her husband Admire Kasi, accused of fraudulently obtaining conversion certificates, the court has encountered another delay due to controversy over an email extract. The pair’s legal battle intensified when Edith Mandiyanike, an employee at Fidelity Printers, testified about receiving instructions via email from Huggins Duri, the former executive secretary for the Council for Legal Education. The email in question allegedly contained names of students, including Kombo and Kasi, who were to be issued certificates without having taken the requisite exams.

In a pivotal moment, the prosecution attempted to submit the email extract into evidence once more. “I received an email with a list of students whose certificates were to be printed, and Kombo and Kasi’s names were included. The email directed me to print the certificates, which I did,” Mandiyanike stated. She further clarified that “All communications were through email, and we would notify them by phone once the certificates were ready for collection.”

However, this move was met with strong resistance from the defense. They argued that admitting the email without verifying its authenticity would be unjust. “We are objecting to the document that the State wants to utilize in this matter,” the defense team articulated. They highlighted concerns about fairness and due process, stressing that the prosecution’s late attempt to introduce the email could prejudice their clients’ defense.

“The document wasn’t provided to the accused persons at the start of the trial…It’s attempting to smuggle the email into the record, but it’s not fair to the accused persons,” the defense further elaborated, emphasizing the importance of a fair trial and the necessity for all evidence to be scrutinized and authenticated before being accepted.

The court is set to deliver a ruling on this contested issue on Thursday, with the trial expected to resume on March 4. This legal standoff not only underscores the challenges of dealing with digital evidence but also reflects the broader principles of justice, including the right to a fair trial and the necessity for all evidence to be transparent and authenticated. As the legal drama unfolds, all eyes are on the forthcoming decision, which will significantly impact the trajectory of this high-profile case.- Agencies

Train Carrying Mnangagwa’s Chrome Involved In Fatal Accident

By Farai D Hove | Analysis| In a tragic turn of events Monday evening, a catastrophic derailment occurred involving a National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) train, tragically claiming the lives of three individuals. This was no ordinary cargo train; it was laden with valuable chrome proceeds, jointly owned by Zimbabwe’s own Emmerson Mnangagwa, destined for the port of Beira.

The NRZ, in a somber announcement, revealed that the train comprised 14 wagons, among them nine filled with export chrome concentrates and five with granite blocks. This significant cargo, partially owned by Mnangagwa, underscores the gravity of the incident not just in terms of human loss but also economic implications.

The derailment was reportedly caused by a severe brake failure. The mechanical malfunction rendered the train unable to manage a sharp curve along its route between Mutare and Machipanda, leading to a devastating plunge into a gorge. The severity of the incident was such that the three NRZ crew members on board were tragically trapped and could not survive the ordeal.

As the NRZ extends its condolences to the families of the deceased crew members, the focus also shifts to the shared ownership of the chrome cargo by Mnangagwa, highlighting the broader impact of this accident on the country’s economic interests and the personal stakes of one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent figures.

Preliminary investigations have been initiated to pinpoint the exact cause of the brake failure and consequent derailment. The incident not only raises significant concerns over the safety measures and maintenance practices of the NRZ but also casts a spotlight on the responsibilities of those owning the cargo being transported, including Mnangagwa, to ensure that such valuable shipments are carried safely.

The tragic loss of life is at the forefront of this incident, compounded by the loss of significant national resources. As the investigation continues, there is a pressing call for stringent safety protocols and maintenance checks to safeguard against future tragedies. The nation now looks for answers and assurances that effective measures will be put in place to prevent similar occurrences, especially when the transport involves economically crucial cargo owned by high-profile figures such as Mnangagwa.

The implications of this derailment are far-reaching, affecting not just the immediate families of the deceased but also touching on the economic fabric of Zimbabwe, given the involvement of Mnangagwa’s jointly owned chrome. Further updates are awaited as the NRZ and relevant authorities continue their investigation into this tragic event.

2 Kuwadzana Kids Sadly Electrocuted

Kuwadzana 5, Harare- Two young lives, Junior Makwindi, 4, and Tinotenda Tineyi Maketo, 6, were tragically lost to electrocution while they slept. The cause of this devastating event was traced back to a malfunctioning refrigerator.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, serving as the National Police spokesperson, shared details of the occurrence, stating, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a sad incident in which Junior Makwindi and Tinotenda Tineyi Maketo were electrocuted whilst sleeping in a room at a house in Kuwadzana 5, Harare on the 19th of February, 2024.” He further explained, “Preliminary investigations by the Police have revealed that the victims were electrocuted after getting in contact with an upright refrigerator which had an electrical fault.”

On this case, Asst Comm Nyathi remarked, “Police in Rusape are investigating a case of baby dumping in which a newly born baby boy was found dumped on a flower bed at Vengere Clinic.” He appealed to the public for assistance, saying, “Anyone with information that might help in the case should report at the nearest police station.”

Truck Driver In Trouble For Disrupting Mnangagwa Motorcade

Nursing School Gutted By Fire

By Dorrothy Moyo | In the heart of Chirumhanzu District, the St Theresa School of Nursing, an essential institution within the Catholic-run St Theresa Mission Hospital, faced a devastating setback. A fire, whose origins remain undetermined, erupted in the early hours of the morning, engulfing parts of the school and leaving behind a trail of destruction. The inferno claimed valuable resources including laptops, furniture, kitchen appliances, and crucial educational materials housed in the library. This catastrophe has not only jeopardized the infrastructure but significantly disrupted the lives and academic pursuits of 165 nursing students, many of whom are on the cusp of completing their final examinations.

The plight of these students and their tutors, suddenly left without essential facilities and resources, calls for immediate and concerted government intervention. The rapid spread of the fire, exacerbated by the building’s structural vulnerabilities, underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and the reconstruction of the affected areas to prevent future tragedies.

The visit by Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Sleiman Kwidini, and Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi, to the site, while a step in the right direction, highlights the dire circumstances faced by the school community. Their promises of government support through the Ministry of Health and Child Care, including the mobilization of a team of experts to oversee the restoration efforts, are critical. Yet, this support must be swift and substantial to address not only the immediate needs of the school but also to ensure the continuation of quality nursing education.

The government’s engagement in the reconstruction process, as well as the proposed enhancements to the school’s infrastructure, are commendable. However, the emphasis must remain on the displaced and distressed students and faculty. Their resilience in the face of adversity, particularly for those students preparing for imminent final exams, deserves not only recognition but also robust support mechanisms to aid their recovery and academic progression.

The collaborative spirit shown by the school community in the aftermath of the fire is a testament to their determination. Nonetheless, the path to recovery is steep, necessitating not just physical reconstruction but also a commitment to the welfare and future of the nursing students affected by this calamity. This incident is a clarion call for the government to prioritize the safety and educational needs of its future healthcare professionals, ensuring that such devastating setbacks do not derail their critical journey towards serving the nation.

PLAIN PAN AFRICAN TALK/REALITY

This is a pressing concern for all Africans, both present and future.

Do African people truly own their continent simply by virtue of being born on it?

The reality is that Africa, with all its resources, is often controlled by non-Africans.Across our continent, before the Berlin/Kongo Conference of 1884+1, various tribes, traditional rulers, clans, and communities fiercely resisted foreign dominance.

The Ethiopian repelled the Italians, King Chaka of the Zulu defended his Kingdom, the Mau Mau showed incredible bravery, Amina Zaria led as a mother figure, and the Herero and Namas fought against German extermination, among many others.

They sacrificed their lives to secure freedom for future generations, a sacrifice that must not be forgotten. However, today, we witness a different reality. Our leaders often align themselves with those our forebears fought against, accepting their terms and conditions.

The result is evident in the poverty, neglect, and hopelessness that plagues our continent. As we look ahead to 2025, the vision of a potential AU Chairperson becomes pivotal.

QUESTIONS?

Where does such a candidate stand on Sahel Unity? How will they address the DR Congo crisis and instability, particularly the economic war?

What is their stance on developing rail connectivity to enhance intra-African trade, as proposed by AfCFTA?How do they prioritize technical and vocational educational development in Africa, considering its transformative impact in other regions like South Korea, China, and Vietnam? What efforts will they make towards realizing the Africa Continental Union Government and advocating for the teaching of Pan Africanism in all African learning institutions?

How do they evaluate the achievements of the 2020 Year of Silencing the Guns?

Why did Agenda 2063 default on pursuing the Federal Continental Union Government in 2023, and how will they rectify this? How will they ensure independent funding for the AU’s operations? How will they communicate their vision for a secure, healthy, and prosperous Africa in local languages to ensure wider understanding and evaluation? It’s imperative that an African leads the AU Commission to address the continent’s endemic issues.

Any candidate who fails to convincingly address these concerns may be serving external interests rather than those of Africa.

The OAU/AU stands for a purposeful African mission, echoing the voices of leaders like Nkrumah, Mugabe, Mandela, and others.

Let the sacrifices of our forebears not be in vain, and let the AU be a beacon of hope, relief, and happiness for all Africans.

Ziyambi Ziyambi Sued

By Wezhira Munya

In a resounding triumph for justice, Advocate Martin Mureri, a distinguished human rights defender from Masvingo, secured a momentous legal triumph as he fought for his client, Theresa Khosana, in a civil case against Commissioner General of Police Godwin Matanga, Minister of Justice Ziyambi Ziyambi, and three police officers.

Advocate Mureri, representing Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, took charge of the case, marked by its significance in the pursuit of justice. Notably, Mureri, a Member of Parliament for Masvingo urban, aligns with the pro-Chamisa faction, advocating for progressive change.

Under the case number MSVPCG 278/23, the trial culminated in a judgment compelling Minister Ziyambi, Commissioner General Matanga, and the three implicated police officers to pay $2,500 USD in damages, a stark contrast to the initial claim of $10,000 USD.

The ruling was issued by Masvingo Provincial Magistrate Isaac Chikura. The trio of police officers, identified as Constable Mavis Sibanda, Constable John Nyaya, and Constable Mushonga from Chivamba Police Station in Zaka, faced allegations of subjecting Mrs. Theresa Khosana to a vicious assault and degrading treatment. Disturbingly, Mrs. Khosana endured handcuffing and endured the torment of continuous water pouring throughout the night.

Advocate Mureri emphasized, “The officers’ unwarranted aggression stemmed from a mistaken belief that the plaintiff harbored her son, Byron, sought for alleged community service default. Their confrontational approach spiraled into verbal insults from the plaintiff.”

Court records vividly depict Mrs. Khosana’s ordeal, citing her mistreatment and prolonged suffering during police custody.

Arguing on constitutional grounds, Advocate Mureri contended that the officers’ conduct egregiously violated Mrs. Khosana’s rights enshrined under Section 50 and Section 53 of the Constitution, which mandate humane treatment and prohibit torture or cruel treatment.

The judgment, delivered after meticulous consideration of evidence and legal arguments, held the defendants, including the Commissioner General of Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs, jointly and vicariously liable.

The court awarded Mrs. Khosana $2,500 USD in damages, acknowledging the physical and emotional anguish inflicted upon her.

Furthermore, the defendants and the Commissioner General of Police were directed to bear the legal costs, underscoring accountability for their actions.

RECHERCHE DU PRÉSIDENT DE LA COMMISSION DE L’UNION AFRICAINE ?

Message de nos grands-mères d’Afrique :

DISCUSSION/RÉALITÉ PANAFRICAINE PLAINE

Man Arrested for Illegal Possession of Lion Heads

By A Correspondent

Welshman Ncube Throws Tshabangu Under The Bus

By Political Reporter- Acting Sengezo Tshabangu CCC, president Welshman Ncube said they would discuss Tshabangu’s issue before he attacked the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of escaping the party’s challenges.

Chamisa unexpectedly left CCC in January this year, saying the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF using its agents.

Chamisa’s decision to quit CCC came after State institutions such as Parliament, the courts and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) enabled Tshabangu to field double candidates during elections and by-elections and also to recall the party’s representatives in defiance of Chamisa.

Speaking to CITE, Ncube said he will not run away from the challenges currently bedevilling the opposition but will face them head-on. He said:

The Tshabangu issue is not in the past. The fact that you have pending court cases is not in the past. All of these things are current, and we have a mandate to address them.

We are not going to run away from these challenges. We are going to confront them head-on. It is our job as politicians to solve problems, to confront problems, and we hope that we will succeed.

Ncube acknowledged that the party is grappling with factionalism which has to be tackled. He said.

There are fundamental differences in the party. There are differences in respect, out of which we no longer had a forum to address because we had suspended the meetings of the organs of the party as we knew them.

We had suspended meetings of the standing committee and the national council. The national council last met on the 22nd of January 2022.

We should not gloat over some of these differences if we are being honest and not deceitful politicians.

These differences do arrive in life and politics; they are genuine political and ideological differences.

Ncube also denied allegations that he was Tshabangu’s handler and responsible for the recalls of the party’s Members of Parliament and Councillors in 2022.

There were claims that Ncube and Tendai Biti were behind Tshabangu in a bid to push party leader Nelson Chamisa to resign.

Mnangagwa Motorcade Causes Commotion In Masvingo

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s aides have caused chaos in Masvingo ahead of the Zanu PF leader’s s visit to the town this week.

His overzealous security team engaged in aggressive behaviour Tuesday towards a truck driver who allegedly delayed the Presidential motorcade in the city centre.

While conducting drills ahead of Mnangagwa’s scheduled visit on Wednesday, his security details encountered a delay when a truck failed to yield promptly to the advancing motorcade.

Welshman Ncube Attacks Chamisa

By Political Reporter- The Sengezo Tshabangu Led CCC’s acting president Welshman Ncube has attacked the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa and accused him of escaping the party’s challenges.

Chamisa unexpectedly left CCC in January this year, saying the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF using its agents.

Welshman Ncube Targets Tshabangu

By Political Reporter- The newly appointed acting president of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Professor Welshman Ncube has been mandated to address the controversy surrounding the secretary general (SG) position, as it is the source of the party’s problems.

This was revealed by acting party spokesperson Jacob Mafume at a press briefing in Bulawayo last Friday.

Mafume noted that the acting president was expected to address the grievances in the party, direct the party forward and solve issues about the SG’s post that Sengezo Tshabangu claimed as his and instituted recalls of electing officials citing impositions.
“The leadership is now there. The acting president is now there. He has been given the mandate to deal with various issues that are bedevilling opposition at the present moment to institutionalise the opposition, give it identity, character and restore to the dictates of the democratic movement that it ought to have,” Mafume said.
Cracks in the CCC widened after Tshabangu, posing as the party’s SG, began recalling several elected representatives from Parliament and councils across the country following last year’s national elections.
Tshabangu was also involved in several legal battles with former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and the recalled officials.
Tshabangu now serves in the Senate after being named to a list of candidates nominated to fill upper-house proportional representation vacancies.
Without commenting on the fate of Tshabangu in the party, Mafume hinted that no one currently held that position in CCC.
“We have a situation to deal with around the SG posts. The acting president is being mandated on an urgent basis because it is the situation that has brought us to this place,” said the acting spokesperson.
“So as not to preempt the actions and the solutions that the acting president has but solutions will be found there is nothing that can happen in human interaction where solutions will not be found.”
Mafume added the ‘new’ CCC leadership was opposed to recalls, implying that they would not recall officials who did not recognise their leadership.
“We are of the view that recalls are unnecessary. Recalls cannot be a strategy in the sense that you disenfranchise the voters and what grievances we have amongst ourselves, we should be able to have mechanisms and systems to deal with challenges. The leadership has a mandate to deal with those issues,” he said.
The acting CCC spokesperson also noted that the party’s elective congress was due for this year.
“Going by the election five years ago, probably the elective congress will be around June, July or August. That programme is still on track and can be, will be adhered to within the confines of the constitution and as practicable as possible,” Mafume said.
Prof Ncube was appointed acting president of the party as he is the ‘most senior’ of the party’s three Vice Presidents within the context of the opposition’s leadership.
He will hold the position on a 90-day rotation basis, with the other two Vice Presidents, Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi-Kore taking turns in that role until CCC holds its anticipated elective congress. CITE

MWOS Target Promotion

For ambitious Northern Region Soccer League side MWOS FC, the ultimate goal is as clear as daylight —promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The Norton-based side has invested hugely in the transformation of what was just a social football club a few years ago, to a professional team with the ambition of playing in the country’s top-flight league.

For the past two weeks, the Punters have had a sneak preview of what it feels like to compete with the biggest teams in the country.

They hosted Harare giants Dynamos in a friendly match and played out a goalless draw, in a clash which attracted a bumper crowd at Ngoni Stadium.

They then hosted DeMbare’s city rivals CAPS United last week and lost 1-2, in front a decent crowd as well.

This Sunday, the Punters will welcome Bulawayo giants Highlanders, in a clash that is likely to have the Norton community buzzing with excitement.

MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa believes the huge turnout seen at the previous games, will motivate his charges to fight for promotion this season.

“We cannot talk of football without the fans, so when you see people coming to back you up, you get motivated to give them back what they deserve,” said Mutasa after the Dynamos game.

“We hope we are going to fight as much as we can. We know this year is going to be harder, unlike in the previous seasons, but as MWOS, that is our vision, to get the ticket to the Premiership,” he added.

Mutasa’s troops will play two friendly matches against Bosso, with the first one starting at 12:30pm, while the other one kicks off at 3pm.

Rest of ground tickets are pegged at US$2, while VIP tickets will cost US$5.

SEARCH FOR AFRICA UNION COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON

Message From Our “GrandMothers of Africa”

Human Rights Lawyer Confronts Police Brutality, Wins $2,500 Damages for Victim

Mnangagwa Guards Harass Masvingo Truck Driver

ZANU PF Full of Dunderheads – True or False?

By A Correspondent

Energy Crisis In South Africa: Challenges And Paths To Development

One of the most acute and pressing problems of the government and people of the Republic of South Africa in recent years has been frequent power outages and rolling blackouts. The main reasons for the poor state of the energy sector include outdated equipment, low-skilled workers, and corruption. However, most of the energy power outages are caused by sabotage.

In 2022, Eskom confirmed four cases of sabotage at its stations: in March 2022 at the Koeberg power plant, in May 2022 at the Hendrina power plant, in May 2022 at the Tutuka power plant, and in October 2022 at the Camden power plant. This indicates a troubling trend impacting the reliability of the nation’s power supply.

RECENT SURGE IN POWER OUTAGES

Since February 2024, South Africa has been experiencing the most extreme power outages since November 2023. The Secretary General of the ruling ANC party, Fikile Mbalula, attributed the increased power outages to “clear sabotage” and highlighted the need for “strengthening of additional security measures.” This situation underscores the urgency of addressing the root causes of these disruptions.

POLITICAL ALLEGATIONS AND STRATEGIES

Amidst these challenges, allegations have surfaced regarding the involvement of the opposition party “Democratic Alliance” in the sabotage of power plants. A letter implicated a certain Mr. Grobler, believed to be Bosman Grobler of the Democratic Alliance, receiving instructions related to an “electric” plan, signaling a potentially orchestrated effort to undermine the country’s energy stability.

The Democratic Alliance proposed privatizing electricity generation and allowing citizens to generate their own energy using solar panels. This plan suggests a shift towards more decentralized and sustainable energy solutions, although its implementation details and timeline remain unclear.

In contrast, the government has proposed the development of nuclear power plants by 2033 and the extension of the Koeberg plant’s service life. These initiatives represent a strategic move towards diversifying and strengthening South Africa’s energy infrastructure for future demand.

The evidence of systematic efforts by the Democratic Alliance to highlight the energy crisis, coupled with frequent sabotage and proposed legislative changes, suggests a complex political strategy leading up to the 2024 elections. As South Africa navigates this challenging period, the path to a stable and efficient energy sector remains fraught with political, technical, and social hurdles.
