What You Need To Know About Cervical Cancer

Key facts

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally, with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

About 90% of the new cases and deaths worldwide in 2020 occurred in low- and middle-income countries (1).

Two human papillomavirus (HPV) types (16 and 18) are responsible for nearly 50% of high grade cervical pre-cancers
HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. More than 90% of them clear the infection eventually.

Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Vaccination against HPV and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions is a cost-effective way to prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.

Comprehensive cervical cancer control includes primary prevention (vaccination against HPV), secondary prevention (screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions), tertiary prevention (diagnosis and treatment of invasive cervical cancer) and palliative care.

Overview

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. Of the estimated 342 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2020, about 90% of these occur in low- and middle-income countries. Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV, and an estimated 5% of all cervical cancer cases are attributable to HIV (2). Moreover, in all world regions the contribution of HIV to cervical cancer falls disproportionately on younger women.

In high-income countries, programmes are in place which enable girls to be vaccinated against HPV and women to get screened regularly and treated adequately. Screening allows pre-cancerous lesions to be identified at stages when they can easily be treated.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.

The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.

HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.

Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.

Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.

It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.

Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

Empowering Communal Miners Crucial

Gold leakage solution step 1

Business Correspondent

There is need to rename artisanal miners to communal miners.

Gold leakage is a big problem affecting the country. We as Three Wingers are in the process of identifying key holes of leakage affecting the country.

One major cause is policy framework that is in favour of commercial miners which is an elephant to ant comparison by size of land , production, machinery ‘ environmental impact, employment creation and many more.

The term artisanal miners is too fancy to describe what we do ; who are we what keeps us alive which influences policy formulation by government, local authorities and environmental management agency thereby charging heavy fees that could be easier to pay if well structured and administered in an effective manner .

In order to see why name change is important we will look at how communal farmers work and other key factors that could be important in not only curbing leakage but also enhancing stability in the mining sector.

1 Gold is distributed across all districts in the country. The way gold is distributed in the country its highly possible to have more miners than communal farmers plus contrary to popular belief artisanal miners are the poorest with regular cash to dispose with no infrastructure development with lots of credit to EMA , Ministry of Mines , RDC , mining service providers , ZIMRA and many more .

Mining is the leading source of income to most youth in the county because is abundant everywhere probability of picking a gold piece if you know it is higher than chances of making a bumper harvest in some parts of the country. Because of the above gold has become a natural currency that’s exchanged every day without a receipt or anything proof of transaction . Did you know in the mining sector 10 000usd can be exchanged through car windows without facing and never to come back because of the risks involved simply because our colonial driven policies made carrying it a taboo yet its all over the country. Since its distributed across the country it becomes easy means of livelihood for an average Zimbabwean unless laws that makes making a living a crime
Short comparison of communal farmers and communal miners
Communal farmers
1 register local at village level ; same area where gold is found
2 administered local
3 get gvt input support scheme
4 don’t pay back those loans
5 cut trees indiscriminately without EAI
6 cause erosion without management plan
7 have donor back up if things don’t go well
Communal miners
1 register outside district same land where farms are found
2 administered and reports outside district
3 are siphoned not supported by gvt and are barred access to loan or funding
4 pay levies ; commissioning and pay close to 4000usd before operations
5 Report Monthly to province regardless of output
6 have to report when decommissioning
7 registered and compliant miners pay 10times more than unregistered ones in all ways you can think of .

With information above it becomes easier to operate registration which becomes brooding ground for gold leakage, gold smuggling and host of crimes .
Registered miners find it difficult to operate because of running cost that are equivalent to medium scale mining with output purely communal.

3 gold handling , processing and possession laws.
By law only the registered miner and persons registered by him can handle and sell gold .

It also says that the ore with gold should be registered together with gold and many details.

Remember l said gold is in abundance around the country what happens when an ordinary person comes across 10grams which is 500usd yet not registered to handle gold yet next door they is a unregistered gold buyer in the community.

Too many officers visiting the mine encouraging miners to runaway.
List of offices that visiting the mine
1 mines office
2 ema
3 rdc
4 gold mobilisation
5 cid minerals
6 uniformed policy
7 other

This can be solved by one stop shop system whereby we pay % that is inclusive of all other offices so that only monitoring officers will come to monitor , train asses only .

Digital reporting and returns system can further enhance and prevent
1 double pegging
2 cut cost of reporting
3 reduce corruption in the system.

4 make data easily accessible to the public
Previous history of free gold trade .

Between 2015; 16 and 17 we were allowed to deposit gold as artisanal miners no questions asked a lot of people deposited gold without fear of being arrested for trying to make a living.
Questions like where did you get the gold who is the mine owner is it registered where is the permit were not asked just you and your national registration card . To see my point of view check gold deposit trends during that period.
NB thieves are easier to track that way that putting a cumbersome method.
From the above discussion its clear that if we handle artisanal miners just like communal farmers we close gold leakage.
To do that we should have a communal miners approach in
1 levies
2 environmental management
3 decriminalisation of gold possession and communal mining related activities including handling of cyanide and explosives
4 decentralise monitoring and registration to district level later on village level.
5 set up a digital report platform for both EMA and ministry of mines…

Zanu PF Fears Zimbabweans In The Diaspora

Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu-PF, is blocking the diaspora vote because it fears losing elections.

The diaspora vote would allow Zimbabweans living abroad to cast their ballots in national elections. This would give millions of people a voice in the political process, and it could potentially swing elections in favor of the opposition.

Zanu-PF has been in power for over 30 years, and it is facing increasing pressure from the opposition. The party is also struggling with economic problems, and it is becoming increasingly unpopular with the public.

If the diaspora vote were allowed, it is likely that Zanu-PF would lose elections. This is why the party is blocking the vote.

Zanu-PF’s actions are undemocratic and they are a threat to the future of Zimbabwe. The diaspora vote is a fundamental human right, and it is important that all Zimbabweans have the opportunity to exercise this right.

The opposition and civil society groups are calling on Zanu-PF to allow the diaspora vote. They are also calling on the international community to put pressure on the government to change its position.

The diaspora vote is a necessary step towards a more democratic Zimbabwe. It is time for Zanu-PF to stop blocking the vote and to allow all Zimbabweans to have a say in their future.

Ugly Clashes Between CCC And Zanu PF

Violence erupted between Zanu PF and CCC activists in Umguza, Matabeleland North province, on Monday, as the two parties stepped up their campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The clashes broke out after CCC activists visited the home of Zanu PF local chairperson Aaron Ngwenya to warn him against threatening their candidate Benzis Ndlovu with eviction from Umguza.

Ngwenya and his two sons allegedly attacked the CCC activists, who were forced to seek treatment at a local hospital.

CCC spokesperson Prince Dubeko Sibanda accused Zanu PF of fomenting the violence and said his party would not be intimidated.

“We are going to continue with our campaigns and we will not be cowed by Zanu PF’s violence,” Sibanda said.

Zanu PF Matabeleland North chairperson Richard Moyo, however, denied that his party was behind the violence and accused CCC of trying to incite violence.

“We are a peaceful party and we do not condone violence,” Moyo said.

The clashes in Umguza are a worrying sign of the rising political tensions in Zimbabwe ahead of the 2023 elections.

Mwonzora Denies “Very Stupid” Allegations He Is Working With Zanu PF

MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora has said allegations that he is working in cahoots with the ruling Zanu-PF to postpone elections through his ZEC delimitation report court challenge are “stupid”.

The remarks come shortly after Mwonzora suffered heavy blows when the Constitutional Court threw out an application he had filed seeking to delay the polls until the delimitation report which he says is fundamentally flawed has been re-done.

The court challenge has drawn criticism from a section of the electorate amid allegations that his determination to have the elections delayed is effectively a bid for Zanu-PF which is reportedly developing cold feet ahead of the August plebiscite.

Speaking to a local online, a visibly enraged Mwonzora rubbished the allegations.

“That is a very stupid allegation I should say because I am not the one who drafted the rotten delimitation report. I have sued the government and also as far as I know President Mnangagwa is even pushing for elections. So this is the work of haters.

“People who have failed to do anything about the situation. I have taken steps to do something about it and I am just being vilified.

“It is cheap propaganda by people who are certainly not intelligent enough and can’t read politics,” he said.

He maintained that under the current delimitation report the forthcoming elections are not going to be free and fair, a realisation he said prompted him to take corrective court action.

“Going into elections, the most important thing is that they must be peaceful, free and fair. There must be less usage of hate language.

“And simple propaganda that if one is sent to the courts he or she is being sent by someone. I am intelligent enough. At the age of 25 for those who did not know, I took this government to court in 1995 trying to stop elections on the basis that the Electoral Act then was not fair,” he said.

Mwonzora said he took the same government to court in 1997 arguing against the unconstitutionality of the Political Parties Finances Act at the age of 27.

Quizzed on whose authority he continues to approach the courts following his recent dismissal by MDC- Alliance partners, Mwonzora scoffed.

“That is legally impossible because the MDC-T Alliance and it is governed by an Alliance agreement which is very clear to the effect that the management of the grouping is done after elections by political parties in parliament.”

He castigated the Alliance partners ignoring checks and balances on how expenditure is handled.

“This is a sickening accusation that always comes when people want to extort. Our hands are clean. Our finances are not handled by the party President but by the Finance and administration Committee of the party.

“Anybody who thinks that money has been abused with enough evidence is free to go to the Police,” added Mwonzora.

Zvigure Scare-Nine (9) Year Old Girl Falls To Death

By-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the death of a 9-year-old girl who died after falling while running away from masquerades (Zvigure) at a school in Mabvuku, Harare on May 15, 2023.

In a statement, police said investigations were ongoing:

The ZRP confirms a sad incident in which a 9 year old girl died after falling to the ground while running away from masquerades (Zvigure) at a school located along Sinini Drive, Eastview Phase1, Mabvuku, Harare on 15/05/23. Investigations are in progress.

Masquerades, also known as “Zvigure,” are traditional dancers who wear masks and perform during cultural ceremonies in Zimbabwe.

It is unclear why they were at the school in Mabvuku, Harare, but it is possible that they were hired to perform or were part of a cultural event taking place at the school.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the authorities.

The dances originated among the Chewa ethnic group. The Chewa people are primarily found in Malawi, Zambia, and Mozambique, with smaller populations in Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

The history of Zvigure in Zimbabwe can be traced back to the early 1900s when Chewa migrants brought the dance to the country.

Over time, the dance has become an integral part of Zimbabwean culture and is performed during traditional ceremonies, such as weddings and initiation rites.

The dance is characterized by its use of masks, music, and colourful costumes and is often accompanied by storytelling.

The masks used in the dance are intricately carved and represent different characters, such as ancestors, spirits, and animals.

Zvigure, also known as Gule Wamkulu in Malawi, is a traditional dance performed by the Chewa people during initiation ceremonies.

It has been recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity and is considered an important cultural tradition in both Zimbabwe and Malawi.

While the dance is not inherently violent, there have been instances where the use of Zvigure masks and costumes has been linked to violence and criminal activities in Zimbabwe.

Stop Complaining Over Nomination Fees, Ziyambi Told Opposition

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs minister Ziyambi Ziyambi says the high nomination fees for the elections this year will not be reduced and told opposition parties to “stop wasting their time” complaining.

He said the high fees were a closed chapter because they were approved by the “majority” of Members of Parliament (MPs).

The ruling Zanu PF party has 179 MPs in the 270-member chamber, about two-thirds majority.

Ziyambi was responding to Binga North MP Prince Dubeko Sibanda (Citizens Coalition for Change) in Parliament in relation to the high nomination fees.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) in August last year increased nomination fees for presidential candidates from US$1 000 to US$20 000 per candidate.

In an Extraordinary Gazette, Zec also increased nomination fees for aspiring MPs from US$50 to US$100.

Candidates eyeing Senate and council seats will be expected to fork out US$100.

Ziyambi said opposition members were supposed to protest against the statutory instrument last year when it was published.

After Sinking ZESA, ED Says Nyusi Will Revive It

President Emmerson Mnangagwa claims the country has partnered with Mozambique to address regional energy shortages despite accusations that the country has sunk its power generation systems.

According to Mnangagwa, the deficits between the two nations currently stand at over 35,000 megawatts, with a focus on sharing surplus and creating new energy sources.

Like many SADC countries, Zimbabwe has struggled with power shortages that have been made worse by a rapid industrialization that hasn’t been accompanied by an increase in power production.

The nation is creating a number of power sources, including the Hwange Units 7 and 8, which should shortly begin operating and add 600 megawatts to the national grid, to make up for that shortage.

The following, among others, are long-term remedies for the nation’s energy problems:

“Indeed energy is very important because we have to develop our industries, fisheries for our agriculture and all activities and therefore we have been trying to come up with strategies on how best to harness the resources we have so that we can generate more energy and more power. “We have noted efforts by this country, by President Mnangagwa, to generate an additional 600 megawatts of power but this power will not be enough. We will need more power and of course in as much as we congratulate President Mnangagwa, we need to do more in order to get more power for our economies to grow,” said President Nyusi.

He added that during his interactions with President Mnangagwa, the two leaders also discussed the situation in Cabo Delgado, and how Zimbabwe can help Mozambique in agriculture and value addition.

“I had an opportunity to update President Mnangagwa on the developments in Mozambique particularly the fight with terrorists in Cabo Delgado province. You should know that we are being helped by our brothers and sisters from SADC and Zimbabwe is one active member of SADC that is playing an important role.

“Zimbabwe has also been playing a key role in training our special forces that are fighting terrorists in northern Mozambique. The security situation has improved dramatically in Mozambique. Of course we have been defeating the terrorists, and displaced people are now going back to their homes,” said President Nyusi.

Yesterday, the two leaders also witnessed the establishment of the Buzi, Pfungwe and Save Watercourse Commission, and signed agreements on co-operation on the development, management and sustainable utilisation of the water resources of the Save Watercourse, among other agreements.

Later last night, President Mnangagwa hosted a State banquet for his counterpart that was attended by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Zanu PF Second Secretary and Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Ministers from both countries, senior Government officials, Zanu PF officials and service chiefs.

Today, there will be a forum for businesses from the two countries as focus is on economic co-operation and improving the livelihoods of citizens from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

PSL, Sheasham Clash Over Stadium Ban

League debutants, Sheasham have threatened not to fulfil their match day 10 encounter against CAPS United at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane this Saturday after the Premier Soccer League reversed the decision for them to host matches at Bata Stadium in Gweru.

The league debutants had made progress in refurbishing the stadium to meet the required standards, which saw the ZIFA First Instance Board (FIB) approving the use of the Gweru stadium earlier this month.

However, Sheasham only hosted one match against Highlanders at Bata Stadium before their newfound joy was turned into misery.

The Gweru-based side was then forced to revert to Mandava stadium where they are expected to host CAPS United this weekend, but Sheasham are not taking it lying down.

In a letter written to the PSL and FIB by Sheasham Chairperson, Reginald Chidawanyika, the league debutants said they are not in a position to fulfil their fixture against CAPS United.

‘Therefore, until we secure an alternative stadium, we are unable to host Caps United. Furthermore, your decision coming late as it did on 12/03/2023 had serious budgetary implications and we will not be able to raise the funds immediately to play outside Bata Stadium. As we had planned, Bata is now our home stadium and we never anticipated a reversal of the FIB decision. Above all, as you are aware, our club president has written to ZIFA seeking clarification on the reversal of the approval of Bata Stadium. Therefore, until that clarification is made it will be difficult for us to fulfil our home matches outside Bata Stadium,” read the statement.

Match-day 10 kicks off this Friday with Yadah clashing against Herentals at the National Sports Stadium.

On Saturday Green Fuel entertain Black Rhinos at Gibbo stadium, defending champions FC Platinum host ZPC Kariba at Mandava Stadium, Chicken Inn face log leaders Ngezi Platinum at Luveve, Simba Bhora have a date with Bulawayo Chiefs at Baobab, while struggling Cranborne Bullets face Bulawayo giants, Highlanders at the National Sports Stadium.

Action continues Sunday when Harare giants, Dynamos host Manica Diamonds at the National Sports Stadium, while Hwange will enjoy home advantage when they welcome Triangle United at Colliery Stadium.

Meanwhile, the battle of Zimbabwe featuring giants Dynamos and Highlanders has been rescheduled for Africa Day on Thursday next week at Barbourfields Stadium.

The match was initially scheduled for the 15th of April, but it was moved to pave way for the Independence Cup which was eventually won by Bosso on penalties.- ZBC News

Zivhu Slams Mwonzora

Tinashe Sambiri

Controversial former Zanu PF MP for Chivi South Constituency Killer Zivhu, has described MDC leader Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora as a useless politician.

According to Zivhu, nobody will vote for Mwonzora in the coming polls.

“From Limpopo to Zambezi, guys make sure Mwonzora and his team they get nothing, Zero, Zero everywhere, if not for him , by now civil servants vangadayi vachipiwa 500USD minimum pay, a united Nation is a progressive Nation, but Mwonzora doesn’t see it that way,” Zivhu declared.

Businessman Transforms Into Armed Robber

At first look, 38-year-old Limukani Khupe appears to be a sincere and diligent businessman, but many are unaware that he also allegedly adopts the persona of a merciless and violent criminal.
Police detained Khupe, a “businessman” who runs a successful liquor store and shop in Sun Yet Sen in Maphisa, Matabeleland South Province, on suspicion of being the ringleader of a group of seven other violent offenders.

One of the robbers

The gang has been on the police’s most wanted list in Bulawayo for a number of armed robberies and break-ins that Khupe is thought to have planned.

Khupe has a homestead in Plumtree’s Ezimnyama Village, which is part of the Matabeleland South Province.

In the Rangemore neighbourhood of Bulawayo, he is also developing a home.

Khupe, according to police, was found in possession of a revolver, which is licensed under his name.

“He owns a revolver, which we managed to retrieve. We checked on it and found out it was licensed under his name. The licence expires in December. Khupe apparently was granted the licence, as he is a businessman and, in his application, indicated that he needed it for protection from criminals, as he constantly had large amounts of money in his possession,” said Bulawayo Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.

He said Khupe clearly applied for the firearm to carry out his sinister motives, which left many homeowners in Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs petrified when he and his gang struck.

The other gangsters were identified as Brendon Moyo (25) from Lobengula West, Benefit Vhudzi (37) from Mbundane, Witness Macebo (27) from Lobengula West, Isheunesu Nhliziyo (36) also known as Scanda from Cowdray Park, Nyapo Ndlovu (26), Limukani Dube (32), and Lungisani Mpofu (24) from Cowdray Park.

Inspector Ncube said events that led to their capture were preceded by a series of violent break ins and robberies that culminated in active participation by members of the public and police.

“On the 28th of April 2023 at around 2230 hours, a group of eight unknown male accused persons pretending to be police knocked on the front sitting room door of a house in New Luveve demanding the occupants to open.

“They claimed to have been looking for a man called Brighton. The complainants then advised the accused persons that there was no one by that name. The accused persons then went on and forced open the kitchen door to gain entry into the house armed with knives, machetes and knobkerries,” said Insp Ncube.

He said upon entry, the gang assaulted the complainants with a machete, demanding money and other valuables.

“The accused persons then rounded up all the six occupants and hauled them up in the sitting room holding them at gunpoint. They took one of the complainants to the bedroom whilst holding a knife to her throat. While in the bedroom, the accused took cash US$177 and R50 from a purse,” said Insp Ncube.

He said the other robbers went on to ransack the house seeking valuables and stole a Samsung 32-inch television, Open View decoder, Itel A33 phone, Samsung A12 cell phone and Huawei Y9 cell phone.

“After raiding the family the gang sped off in two getaway cars they had parked outside the house. Upon interviews it was established that the robbers had targeted to rob a house which belonged to an illegal forex dealer, who also deals in cell phones. They however missed the target and robbed the wrong house,” said Insp Ncube.

He said the gang , on May 6 went on to rob a house in Rangemore. “On the 6th of May 2023 at around 0200 hours the same accused persons entered a complainant’s premises at Rangemore suburb through an unlocked gate and proceeded to the main house where they broke the windows to gain entry into the house. While inside the house, the accused persons who were armed with two unidentified pistols, a machete, a sjambok and knives searched each room, threatening and assaulting the complainants who were sleeping in different rooms demanding cash and valuables,” said Insp Ncube.-state media

Sheasham Challenge Stadium Ban

Battle Of Zimbabwe Date Revealed

The much-awaited Battle of Zimbabwe featuring giants Highlanders and Dynamos has been set for the 25th of May at Babourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

The match was initially scheduled for the 15th of April, but it was moved to pave the way for the Independence Challenge Cup.

Meanwhile, new boys Sheasham have threatened not to fulfil their match day 10 encounter against CAPS United scheduled for Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) reversed the decision for the Gweru-based side to host matches at Bata Stadium.

In a letter written to the PSL, Sheasham said they are shocked that the PSL is usurping the powers of the First Instance Body which approved Bata stadium to host topflight matches.

The league debutants said they are not able to host CAPS United at Mandava Stadium saying their short-term lease expired after Bata Stadium was approved to host PSL matches.- ZBC News

Mwonzora Axes Councilors Over Chamisa Allegiance

Douglas Mwonzora

By-MDC-T has fired Kadoma Mayor Action Nyamukondiwa and three other MDC-T councillors.

Mwonzora also expelled the for from the opposition party.

Nyamukondiwa, representing Ward 9, and the other councillors representing Wards 3, 4, and 15 had their positions declared vacant in a letter from Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo to Kadoma town clerk Mr Malvern Dondo. He said:

I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) stating that Councillor Action Nyamukondiwa of Ward 9, Councillor Edson Muzira Ward 4, Councillor Nigel Rozario Ward 15 and Councillor Michael Mvura Ward 3 have been expelled from the party.

In terms of Section 278(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe as read with Section (1)(k), the above-mentioned wards are now vacant. In terms of Section 121 of the Electoral Act, please proceed to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of these vacancies.

The opposition party MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) has been recalling councillors and MPs (Members of Parliament) mainly for their allegiance to the rival Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa.

The recalls started immediately after the Supreme Court had ruled that Chamisa was not the legitimate leader of the MDC. There were internal disagreements and power struggles within the MDC party following the demise of founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirai.

The recalls have led to changes in the political landscape of Zimbabwe, with some seats being left vacant and by-elections being held to fill them.

Students Protest Against Sikhala’s Persecution

By- Zimbabwe students from various tertiary institutions on Monday protested on social media against alleged ‘judicial capture’ and weaponisation of the law against opposition members.

The protest was sparked by the continued imprisonment of opposition CCC legislator Job Sikhala and students showed solidarity by painting graffiti in the capital calling for his release.

Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union President Boris Muguti said the protest aimed to send a message to the government. NewsDay cited Muguti as saying:

The primary agenda was to send a message to the regime in Harare and register our discontent against judicial capture. The message was successfully delivered.

Students were wearing black all over the country mourning the death of democracy and the rule of law in Zimbabwe. The campaign was also a way of expressing our solidarity with the incarcerated comrades Job Sikhala and Jacob Ngarivhume.

As barometers of class consciousness, we cannot afford to sit and watch while the regime continues closing the democratic space in the country.

Chiwenga Blocks Nurses From Going To UK

By- The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) has said the government withheld nurses’ verification letters despite paying US$300 each in 2020.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga doubles as the Health Minister.

During a Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health meeting, it was revealed that thousands of registered nurses who applied for Certificate of Good Standing and Confirmation letters to the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe may have been defrauded of US$3.4 million over the past two years.

These letters, also known as “verifications,” confirm that a nurse has completed a diploma course and are used for work applications outside Zimbabwe. Lucas Sharara, ZINA Harare chairperson said:

A lot of nurses have paid verification fees but are yet to receive the letters since 2020.

They paid USD300 each but nothing has materialised. Three-quarters of nurses in this building today have written the English test and are just waiting for the verifications.

Once they get that document, they are leaving Zimbabwe.

The Nurses Council was issuing the document but we are being told the verifications were transferred from the Nurses Council to the Health Ministry’s head office.

We are not sure what is really happening because it seems the Nurses Council is now being controlled by the Health Ministry.

According to the representative body for nurses, between 11,000 and 11 600, nurses paid for verifications in the past two years.

Another nurse stated that the government continues to accept payment for verifications, despite the Nurses Council being aware that the verifications will not be issued by the Health Ministry. The nurse requested that Parliament investigate why the government is accepting payments for verifications without delivering the service.

The chairperson of the Health Committee, Ruth Labode, encouraged the nurses to write to Parliament, as there are concerns that the money may have been misused.

Nurses in Zimbabwe earn a salary of 45 000 RTGS before allowances, and the verification letters would allow them to work in the United Kingdom and Australia.

The USD component of the nurses’ salaries, paid as a COVID-19 and donor allowance, can be withdrawn at any time by the government, according to ZINA. The Nurses Council of Zimbabwe has also been accused of charging USD50 for the collection of diploma certificates.

Many Zimbabwean health workers, including nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals, have been leaving the country to work abroad in large numbers. The reasons for this include low salaries, poor working conditions, lack of resources, and political instability.

Some observers say the government introduced strict measures in recent years to block more health caregivers from going abroad as the brain drain has had a significant impact on the healthcare system in Zimbabwe, leading to shortages of medical personnel and a decline in the quality of care.

The Key Facts About Cervical Cancer

Empower Communal Miners

Sithule Tshuma Lies Saying Qoki is Zimbabwean When It’s Just British

QOKI FRAUDS- COMMENT: For over 5 years, UK based nurse, Sithule Tshuma has pocketed millions of pounds under the guise of empowering women of Matabeleland, and after the first article was published, she has rushed to claim that her company is based in Zimbabwe.

Sithule Tshuma registered a UK company called Qoki Zindlovukazi Manina Amahle Limited, later changed to, Qoki Zindlovukazi Group Limited, and from July 2020: Qoki Zindlovukazi Group C.I.C. She represented it as a CIC, when it is not at all a community interest company as is done under British Law.

Qoki Zindlovukazi Investment was registered on 23 March 2018, and 5 months later she moved to create a subsidiary in Zimbabwe on 2 Aug 2018. Until today, Suthule Tshuma did not at any time inform her investors that she later went on to create a subsidiary in Zimbabwe.

The executive directorship of both companies: UK and subsidiary-Zimbabwe, is 100% UK, and 75% UK based, respectively, meaning Qoki is technically and legally a British company, no matter which entity she may shift liability to.

Original UK company registration on 23 March 2018

Even if Qoki is registered in 10 other countries, its legal operating country is where it was traded, advertised and where its sole Director/owner operates from. This is the case, no matter how many other (sub) directors Sithule Tshuma appoints to the satellite countries like Zimbabwe. Because it is registered in UK, anything else is read a convenient diversion, and those so called directors are technically sub owners, it at all they possess anything.

Zimbabwe company registration on 2 August 2018

Following the investigation by ZimEye last week, a new name has popped up in the list of directors, one, Bridget Dube, who has a Zimbabwe physical address, and she announces that there’re now 4 Directors, Sithule Tshuma, Bridget Dube, Karen Kumalo, Nompilo Moyo.

Zim subsidiary registration

Since launching Qoki in 2018, there is no one who has received a title deed, and Tshuma continues to heap charges in the form of development expenses. – By Investigative Reporter

Chinese Company In Trouble With Mudzi Villagers

By A Correspondent| A Chinese mining company has landed itself in trouble with some Zimbabwean villagers who have protested against some unlawful mineral exploration activities in their area, which resulted in massive damage to their ancestral land.

The Chinese mining company, Zim Win Mining Private Limited represented by its founder Su Xilong, on 2 February 2023 wrote a letter to some villagers in Kanyandura village in Mudzi District in Mashonaland East province advising them that it intended to carry out a lithium exploration exercise in their area.

Zim Win Mining Private Limited said its exercise was aimed at exploring lithium, which it said is a “valuable mineral used in the production of batteries and electronics.”

By writing to the Kanyandura villagers, Zim Win Mining Private Limited said it was requesting for the villagers’ consent to conduct an exploration process in their village exclusive of cultivated land and enshrined areas or sites.

The Chinese mining company told villagers that before proceeding with the project, its proposed activities will be carried out in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and with the highest standards of health and safety for its workers and the surrounding community.

Zim Win Mining Private Limited also assured the villagers that it would make sure to fully compensate them for any losses or damages that may occur as a result of the exploration process.

In the end, Zim Win Mining Private Limited asked the villagers to sign a consent form endorsing their agreement to the proposed project.

Now the indignant Kanyandura villagers have enlisted the services of two lawyers Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Kelvin Kabaya from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), who recently protested that despite the fact that some villagers had not consented to Zim Win Mining Private Limited’s exploration activities, it had proceeded to unlawfully excavate a portion of land in their village and left a huge trench that is potentially harmful to life and livestock, an act which is in direct breach of section 31 of the Mines and Minerals Act.

The lawyers demanded that Zim Win Mining Private Limited should reclaim a deep trench that its agents or employees dug within Kanyandura Village, when they were conducting exploration activities for lithium ore and return it to its original shape.

The villagers took great exception to the manner in which Zim Win Mining Private Limited attempted to coerce them to sign consent forms authorising the Chinese owned mining company to conduct exploration activities on their land.

Zim Win Mining Private Limited, Chinopfukutwa and Kabaya said, should cease and desist from coercing or unduly influencing the villagers to sign any consent forms. They charged that the consent forms are vague and lack particularity as to the consequences of such mining operations on their livelihoods, farming activities, environmental impact and the exact nature of compensation for the negative effects of the mining.

Apart from engaging Zim Win Mining Private Limited, the human rights lawyers have also engaged the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and the Environmental Management Agency raising concerns about the unlawful activities of the mining company.

In a letter written to the Provincial Mining Director for Mashonaland East province in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and to the Environmental Management Agency, Chinopfukutwa and Kabaya, complained that Zim Win Mining Private Limited had pegged a substantial portion of the villagers’ land without consulting them.

The pegged land, the human rights lawyers said, covers the villagers’ principal homesteads, farming and grazing land.

They also complained that Zim Win Mining Private Limited had through its agents been exerting undue influence on the villagers to sign consent forms to allow the company to carry out mining operations on their land.

The lawyers asked the Provincial Mining Director to furnish them with a copy of the prospecting licence granted to Zim Win Mining Private Limited if any was granted.

Chinopfukutwa and Kabaya charged that in the event that a prospecting licence was granted to Zim Win Mining Private Limited, the pegging of Kanyandura village was unlawful because according to the provisions of section 31(1) of the Mines and Minerals Act, a holder of a prospecting licence must not exercise any of the rights conferred in terms of the
prospecting licence on communal land without the consent of the occupier.

In addition, the human rights lawyers said the provisions of section 31(1)(h) of the Mines and Minerals Act, states that no holder of a prospecting licence can proceed to peg communal land occupied as a village without the written consent of the Rural District Council of
the area concerned.

Chinopfukutwa and Kabaya also enquired if any Environment Impact Assessment had been conducted in relation to the mining project and asked to be furnished with a copy of the certificate approving the prospecting and pegging of Kanyandura Village by Zim Win Mining Private Limited as is stipulated under section 97 of the Environmental
Management Agency.

Govt Sees Sabotage Over Speculative Pricing

Government has accused retailers of sabotaging the economy through speculative pricing and hiding goods from shop shelves.

In a post-Cabinet Press briefing, Information and Broadcasting minister Monica Mutsvangwa last night said the prevailing shortages of basic goods in retail shops was artificial.

“From the survey taken, most basic commodities are generally available both in formal and informal retail shops although there are artificial shortages which have been observed for some locally-produced goods, especially in formal retail shops,” she said.

She added that prices of basics in the formal retail sector were relatively high in both United States dollars and local currency compared to the informal market.

“This is an indication of speculative forward pricing. Consumers are being forced to buy goods that they don’t need in formal retail outlets which are refusing to mix the United States dollar transactions with Zimbabwean dollars,”she said.

“To address this the nation is being assured that the Quality Assurance and Trade Measures Department in the Industry and Commerce ministry is conducting an enforcement grip on the quality and measurements of basic commodities and issuing appropriate fines.”

Government last week lifted import duty on basic goods to get back at ‘profiteering’ retailers.

Mutsvangwa said the import duty will remain suspended for the next six months.

Prices of basic commodities have skyrocketed beyond the reach of many citizens, especially those earning in local currency that has been on a free-fall since late last year.

Former Zanu PF Legislator Congratulates Winky D

By A Correspondent| Zanu PF secretary for legal affairs Advocate Fortune Chasi has congratulated musician Winky D for winning the Best African Dancehall Entertainer award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) held in Jamaica recently.

Chasi took to Twitter to congratulate Winky D, real name Wallace Chirumiko, saying that he was just happy of the musician’s achievement.

“Nhai pane anga ndi svitsewo kuna @winkyD ? Ndiri kuda kunoti makorokoto. Two minutes chete. Hapana chimwe Chandiri kuda. Never set my eyes on the guy at all. I’m just so happy,” Chasi tweeted.

Winky D is the first Zimbabwean musician to win the award. He beat out other nominees including Nigeria’s Patoranking, Ghana’s Shatta Wale, and Star Zee.

In January this year, Winky D won the Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa prize at the prestigious All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) held in Senegal.

Bridging Economic Boundaries in the Modern Era

The twenty-first century has heralded an era where borders are becoming increasingly irrelevant, especially in the world of digital connectivity. This has given rise to new opportunities and challenges, shaping the global economy in novel and unexpected ways.

In South Africa, one of the most profound impacts of digital connectivity has been observed in the realm of personal finance. With an increasing number of people gaining access to the internet, individuals are now more empowered than ever to take charge of their financial future, using a range of tools and platforms that were previously only accessible to financial professionals.

Take, for example, the concept of peer-to-peer lending, a practice that allows individuals to lend and borrow money directly from each other, bypassing traditional financial intermediaries like banks. This practice, enabled by digital connectivity, has opened up new avenues for financial inclusion, allowing individuals who were previously unable to access traditional financial services to participate in the economy.

Another noteworthy development in the South African digital finance landscape has been the rise in popularity of foreign exchange (forex) trading. Forex trading, which involves the buying and selling of currencies, has become increasingly accessible to the average person, thanks to the proliferation of online trading platforms.

Forex trading South Africa, as it’s commonly referred to, has seen a significant surge in interest over the past few years. This is partly due to the potential for high returns, combined with the ability to trade at any time of the day or night. With a strong regulatory framework and a stable political environment, South Africa has become a popular hub for forex trading.

However, the rise of forex trading South Africa also highlights some of the challenges associated with increased digital connectivity. Forex trading is complex and comes with high risks, and the relative ease of access to these platforms has led to concerns about inexperienced traders risking more than they can afford to lose.

To mitigate these risks, financial regulators and industry bodies have been working to ensure that adequate protections are in place for individuals engaging in forex trading. This includes implementing regulations that require forex brokers to be licensed and regulated, and providing educational resources to help individuals understand the risks associated with forex trading.

Digital connectivity is reshaping the economic landscape in South Africa and beyond, creating new opportunities for individuals to take charge of their financial future. However, as the popularity of practices like forex trading South Africa continues to grow, it’s vital that these opportunities are balanced with appropriate safeguards to protect individuals and the broader economy.

Plot To Oust Zanu PF Youth League Boss Tino Machakaire

The Zanu PF youth league is reportedly in turmoil as some members are allegedly snubbing the ruling party’s national secretary for youth affairs Tino Machakaire amid reports of a plot to oust him.

The youth league has previously played a key role in mobilising support for the ruling party and government programmes, sometimes through violent campaigns targeting opposition supporters.

Machakaire, who doubles as Youth deputy minister, is accused of lacking the oomph to mount a strong campaign for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is seeking re-election in the August poll.

There are reports that Machakaire, who was handpicked by Mnangagwa early  this year, does not enjoy a good working relationship with his deputy, John Paradza.

While Machakaire is an appointee, Paradza was elected deputy youth leader in 2021.

Machakaire is said to have attracted a paltry crowd at a youth inter-district meeting, held at Mbizo Stadium in Kwekwe on Friday last week.

This was in contrast to Paradza who has been attracting bumper crowds countrywide.

According to some in the ruling party, the snub by party youths in Kwekwe left Machakaire fuming.

“Our boss Tino Machakaire was left fuming after youths snubbed his inter-district meeting in Kwekwe and this has been the norm in most of his meetings,” the sources said.

“He is not popular with Zanu PF youth structures and is not wanted in the Matabeleland provinces.”

He was reportedly particularly incensed by the absence of party youths from Gokwe and Mberengwa.

In Manicaland recently, Machakaire also attracted a paltry crowd when he addressed youths at Queens Hall in Mutare.

Paradza, who is popularly known as “Boss Para,” is said to be enjoying good support from the youth.

Zanu PF Midlands chairperson Ernest Dzoro, however, dismissed reports that Machakaire addressed a poor gathering.

“People are just crazy. The meeting was well attended. This was one of our biggest meetings we have held,” Dzoro said.

Paradza dismissed the allegations of divisions between him and Machakaire when contacted for comment on Monday.

“There is no bad blood between me and my boss,” Paradza said.

“We have been organising the meetings together and it was well attended in Kwekwe, we were actually together.

“I think people are creating stories out of  nothing and it’s bad, as youths we are united.”

Machakaire could not be reached for comment.

There are fears that the simmering divisions in the youth league might cost the ruling party during elections.

The late President Robert Mugabe used to turn to the Zanu PF youth league and war veterans to mount vicious campaigns against the opposition each election season.

Makhadzi’s Mr Brown Deported To Zimbabwe

Mr Brown has been sent back to Zimbabwe for overstaying his stay in South Africa.

The producer who is responsible for producing most of Makhadzi’s songs didn’t renew his work permit, hence sent back home by Home Affairs.

Mr Brown whose real name is Lynol Siwela, confirmed his return to ZiMoja.

“It’s not a big deal, really. I overstayed for a month. I was supposed to renew my work permit but didn’t get a chance. I was staying in SA legally, I even have a wife and a child on the way,” he says.

“I went out to Botswana then on my way back I was stopped. I was alone. My only issue was that the label was supposed to help me to sort the matter in three days but they said it was too costly to pay my lawyer and I was sent back home,” he adds.

“I overstayed and I was then supposed to appeal but I didn’t and that is how I was refused entry back to South Africa,” he says. “I can come back if I want to anytime, but I am still good here. I am just worried about my wife, who is giving birth this month.”

BRICS On Single Currency To Counter US Dollar

By- Chinese experts predict that efforts by countries to replace the US dollar in international trade will intensify as BRICS nations discuss the feasibility of introducing a common currency at a summit in South Africa later this year.

The BRICS group of nations, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, accounts for one-third of global economic output, and their combined output is larger than that of the Group of Seven economies. The move is seen as an attempt to offer better accessibility and fairer treatment in international trade, as the US dollar has caused uncertainty for the world economy by enabling US international hegemony.

According to Zhou Yu, director of the Research Centre of International Finance at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, creating a unified currency for a group of countries is a challenging task but not entirely impossible. Zhou noted that such an effort requires years of cooperation and the phasing out of local currencies, citing the birth of the euro as an example. Despite the difficulties, the BRICS nations’ discussion on introducing a common currency could be the start of a long-term goal towards a currency unit. He said:

However, currently the effort by BRICS nations seems to be focused on devising a currency unit used specifically to settle cross-border trade, rather than a currency unit to replace other local currencies, which reduces the difficulty of such efforts and increases its plausibility.

BRICS countries and other emerging economies are seeking to reduce their reliance on the US dollar. This is due to the impact of US interest rate hikes and geopolitical conflicts on global trade prices in dollars. The freezing of Russian assets by the US and EU has also prompted countries to explore alternatives to using the dollar as a reserve currency. Currently, around 80% of global trade is settled in US dollars.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has supported creating a currency for trading among BRICS countries, questioning the necessity of tying trade to the dollar. Experts warn that the US’s monetary policy has made the dollar increasingly risky.

According to experts, the de-dollarisation trend around the world will accelerate as the US Federal Reserve ends its rate hikes and the US dollar weakens. The BRICS countries have made progress in reducing the dominance of the dollar in trade settlement by increasing their efforts to settle trade in other currencies, exemplified by the fast internationalisation of the yuan.

Local currency settlement is seen as a major development in this trend, with over 70% of China-Russia trade already settled in local currencies. Experts point out that the Chinese government is responsible for the issuance of the yuan, unlike the excessive issuance of dollars by the US, making local currency settlements a fairer and more reliable trend for trade between member countries.

More than 30 countries, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe, have applied to join the BRICS economic alliance.

South Africa’s top diplomat to BRICS, Ambassador Anil Sooklal, has suggested that the alliance is set to expand this year, with a decision to be made at the BRICS summit in August. The potential expansion and the introduction of a new currency would weaken the GDPs of Western nations and the US dollar’s dominance in international trade.

Holy Ten Loses DNA Dispute

By-Hip-hop musician Mukudzei Chitama has lost a paternity dispute where he was disputing that he fathered a child he shares with model Chelsea Tariro Hlomayi.

This comes after a DNA test on the child revealed a 99.9% probability of his paternity.

However, Holy Ten has refused to pay Hlomayi’s demand of US$350 for child support, offering US$150 instead citing his inconsistent income and family responsibilities.
Hlomayi has threatened legal action to compel him to contribute more.
Holy Ten is currently on an international tour.
The news that Holy Ten has a son with Hlomayi came out in March when the rapper and Kimberly Richards officially announced their marriage.
Unverified reports claim that Holy Ten paid US$15,000 as the bride price for his fiancée in Bulawayo. There have also been rumours that Kimberly is expecting their first child.

Zanu PF Youth Boss Mercs Torched

By- Zanu PF youth league political commissar Lawrence Mbanje’s two Mercedes Benz vehicles were torched at his home in Dulibadzimu, suspected to be a case of intra-party violence.
The incident occurred shortly after Mbanje posted videos attacking fellow ZANU PF members for allegedly planning unsanctioned re-runs of primary elections, which resulted in one faction losing.
The Beitbridge Municipality Fire Brigade and neighbours helped extinguish the fire.
This happens when Zimbabwe is gearing up for harmonised elections scheduled for August this year.
Zimbabwe has a history of intra-party and interparty political violence that dates back to the colonial era. During the struggle for independence, the ruling party, ZANU PF, and the opposition party, ZAPU, were involved in violent clashes. After independence in 1980, ZANU PF became the dominant political party, and the government used violence to suppress opposition parties and dissenting voices.
In the early 2000s, Zimbabwe experienced a wave of political violence, which was linked to land reform policies. The ruling party seized land from white farmers and redistributed it to black Zimbabweans. This led to clashes between supporters of the ruling party and white farmers.
In 2008, Zimbabwe held a presidential election, which was marred by violence. The opposition party, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), accused the ruling party of rigging the election and using violence to intimidate voters. The violence left hundreds of people dead and thousands displaced.
Since then, there have been sporadic outbreaks of political violence in Zimbabwe. In recent years, there have been reports of violence against protesters, activists, and journalists.
Ahead of the by-elections on March 26, 2022, the opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), alleged that ZANU PF was attacking its members across the country.
The government has been criticised for failing to hold perpetrators of political violence accountable. The lack of accountability has created a culture of impunity, which has allowed political violence to continue. The international community has called on the government of Zimbabwe to take action to end political violence and promote democracy and human rights.
Political analysts are afraid that the reports of violence might affect the credibility of this year’s elections.

Binzi Shines

MANICA Diamonds striker, Fortune Binzi has taken the Premier Soccer League by storm after bagging a brace to take his goals tally to eight.

Manica Diamonds are still in search of their first silverware since their promotion to the topflight in 2019, but they seem to have found a gunslinger in striker Fortune Binzi who has scored eight goals in nine matches this season.

His brace against Chicken Inn on Saturday saw Manica Diamonds moving up to fourth on the log standings with 15 points, just two behind log leaders, Ngezi Platinum.

24-year-old Binzi became the first player in the league to score a hat-trick this season when his side beat Black Rhinos 4-0 at Gibbo Stadium on the 29th of April.

Manica Diamonds are second on goals scored this season with 14, eight of them having been scored by Binzi.

Ngezi Platinum are first on goals scored as well as top of the log after a morale boosting 2-nil victory over defending champions, FC Platinum at Baobab stadium.

Ngezi are on 17 points after nine matches, while Highlanders who have played a game less are second with 16 points, the same number of points as third placed CAPS United who were held to a goalless draw by Hwange at the National Sports Stadium.

Manica Diamonds are fourth with 15 points same tally as Bulawayo Chiefs, who are having a surprise season considering the financial challenges that have bedevilled the club.

Harare giants, Dynamos have 13 points from eight matches after they were held to their fourth draw of the season by Herentals on Saturday.

Triangle and Chicken are on 12 points apiece, same as a FC Platinum, who are usually slow starters, but should be concerned by the goals they are conceding this season.- ZBC News

Zimbabwe Boasts Of Importing Chinese Knock Down Bus Kits

Zimbabwe has boasted of importing Chinese knock down kits to assemble buses.

The director of Amalgamated Bus Industries, Dr. Shadreck Tiripano, said yesterday that they were prepared to assemble more buses when speaking to Mr. Tafadzwa Muguti during a visit of Deven Engineering by the Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Harare Metropolitan Province.

“We are helping the Government in NDS1 whereby we import knock-down kits from China and assemble them here in Zimbabwe. Our medium to long term plan is to bring in more kits, especially this year where we have got a facility of about 200 kits which means 200 buses which we want to import into Zimbabwe,” he said.

Another director of the company, Dr Samson Nhanhanga, was optimistic of good days ahead.

“We anticipate to increase production capacity, with a target to assemble more than 200 buses per year. We are also using local engineers from our tertiary institutions,’’ he said.

Deven Engineering is owned by the Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe (IDCZ).

IDCZ acting general manager Mr Edward Tome said they have capacity to manufacture 10-12 brand new buses daily, with shifts operating on a 24-hour basis.

“At the moment we are operating at about 10 percent of our capacity. We are able to produce between 500 to 1 200 buses per year depending on customers orders.

“However, we now have the technical knowhow and capacity. We now can manufacture any brand of a bus for any terrain in Zimbabwe both urban and rural segments,” he said.

Mr Tome said Zimbabwe requires between 500 to 800 brand new buses yearly which Deven Engineering can fully satisfy.

“This is being done with Zimbabwean expertise and workers only with the original equipment manufacturer coming in to inspect at the tail end when the buses have been fully manufactured.

“For these first two batch trials, we have imported everything from China. However, our next phase will be the third phase where we want to localise componentry. We want to start producing components like seats, seat covers, brackets, and goods carriers on top of the buses,” he said.

Mr Tome said they want to start reverse engineering in the manufacture of buses and trucks in collaboration with Harare Institute of Technology and the University of Zimbabwe.

Notorious Robber Jailed

MASVINGO-Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga has sentenced a Masvingo robber facing 21 counts of robbery, unlawful entry and theft to eight years in jail.

George Mlambo (23) faced 11 counts of robbery, five counts of unlawful entry and five counts of theft.
He pleaded guilty to nine counts and will serve six and a half years in jail.

The crimes were committed between September and October 2021 in Masvingo.

It was the State case that Mlambo and his accomplices went to Joseph Farai Mashava’s (24) house at 3345 Kushingirira Street, Rujeko A.

They opened a tap outside the house, and when Mashava came out to close the tap, the gang grabbed him by the neck and stabbed him on the left hand and left side of the chest.

They then took him to his bedroom and demanded cash. The gang went away with US$120, and Mashava filed a Police report.

President Mphoko Son Appeals Conviction

Siqokoqela Mphoko, the son of Phelekezela Mphoko lthe late President Robert Mugabe’s successor), who was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape and evading legal custody, has appealed both his conviction and sentence.

Siqokoqela, who was convicted of three charges of rape and fleeing from lawful custody and is being defended by Mr. Zibusiso Ncube of Ncube and Partners, claimed the court’s ruling was faulty since there were numerous anomalies.

“Take notice that the appellant hereby appeals against both conviction and sentence imposed by a regional magistrate, Mr Elijah Singano sitting at the Bulawayo magistrate’s court on the 4th of May 2023,” reads part of the appeal.

Siqokoqela said the court erred at law in improperly admitting evidence of the complainant that did not meet legal requirements for admissibility of proof of sexual complaints.

“The trial court grossly misdirected itself at law in arriving at the conclusion that the witnesses were credible when evidence was fraught with material inconsistencies going to the root of admissibility of evidence,” he said.

Siqokoqela also said the court erred at law in dismissing his defence without deliberating on the allegations.

“The court erred at law in arriving at the conclusion that the State had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt yet when given the totality of the evidence, the State failed dismally to do so,” he said.

Siqokoqela said the court had also imposed an unconscionable sentence.

He said he should be found not guilty and acquitted of all charges.

Siqokoqela was jailed for an effective 20-years after he was convicted of three counts of rape and escaping from lawful custody following a full trial.

In his ruling, Mr Singano said many of the victim’s constitutional rights were violated.

He said what was aggravating was that Siqokoqela had betrayed the victim’s trust and that of her family.

The State case was that sometime between May and August last year, Siqokoqela raped the 12-year old victim thrice.

On August 30 last year, at around 4.30pm Siqokoqela was arrested and taken to Hillside Police Station by Assistant Inspector Admire Donha.

While at the police station he was booked for detention after which he requested to get his medication from his motor vehicle which was parked outside.

He was then escorted by Constable Chimuka to his motor vehicle and upon arrival he jumped into his vehicle and sped off.-state media

Why Ngarivhume Matters: Part 1

By F. Muridzo
This is the third week since Magistrate Faresi Chakanyuka sentenced Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume to an effective 3 years in prison for inciting public violence.

Not only was this harsh but very unreasonable for a protest that never was. However, the sentence was meant to set a precedence for other suspects facing similar charges. Jim Kunaka, Pride Mukono, Hopewell Chin’ono and Job Sikhala included.

For staters, Jacob Ngarivhume has been a thorn in ZANU PF’s backside since the last election in 2018. He did not disappear like most fly by night party leaders but continued to grow his party Transform Zimbabwe. His “Stop Blaming Start Acting” politics won him many hearts across the country. He became a solution to many communities that faced deep challenges and were neglected by the rogue ZANU PF Government.

In Harare, he championed waste and garbage removal in Mufakose, Budiriro, Glenview, Highfields and Mbare. For two years, because of his efforts, there was no cholera outbreak which previously had ravaged these areas. With a very small budget donated by citizens, he commandeered hired trucks and mobilized citizens to clean their communities. Even the perennially filthy Matapi Flats became clean and habitable. For this, he was arrested several times in Mbare as Government panicked over the success of his initiatives.

Ngarivhume, as a fearless man of action, engaged the leadership of Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC), Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to push them to act against corruption at highest levels of Government. When no action was taken, he called for peaceful nationwide anti-corruption protests on 31 July 2020 as allowed by our Constitution.

The whole country, which has been disillusioned by ZANU PF and Government’s complicity in corrupt activities, joined in. This made Ngarivhume “enemy number one” of the state! He had to be crushed once and for all. This was clearly expressed by Chief Prosecutor Michael Reza during Ngarivhume’s bail application. Reza said if Ngarivhume was released on bail, he would make Zimbabwe ungovernable! No wonder a heavily armed twelve-member team of detectives from the Special Tactics Unit was deployed in the wee hours of 20 July 2020 to apprehend him.

Ngarivhume had to spend almost two months in pretrial detention. The new dispensation has become notorious in using the courts and the justice system against its opponents in a new kind of lawfare never seen even during the days of Robert Mugabe. Job Sikhala is a case in point. His pretrial incarceration for over three hundred days is a clear manifestation of the cruelty of the new dispensation!

In the past, ZANU PF was accused of using violence and intimidation to instill fear in opponents during elections. It has now gone a step further, capturing the courts and weaponizing the whole justice system against opposition political activists!

Vongai Chikwanda, Amnesty International’s Interim Deputy Director for Southern Africa said, Ngarivhume’s sentencing was a cynical ploy to supress dissent and it was an abuse of the justice system to intimidate and harass opposition voices.

And for the meantime, the nation will miss one more voice of reason, the voice of Jacob!

Gold Mafia Criminals Must Face The Law Or The People

By Stephen Sarkozy Chuma

Gold smuggling and money laundering criminals fingered in Al Jazeera documentary, Gold Mafia must have their day in court. We as CCC youths, we are very much concerned that more than a month after promising to arrest those fingered in Gold Mafia documentary, the police are still to arrest any of these criminals.

The police are yet to give reasons why they have not effected any arrest as yet. The government besides Monica Mutsvangwa’s statement saying they will investigate every person fingered in the documentary has also buried its head in the sand.

Credit to our citizens representatives in Parliament who have have led the charge to have some of the Gold Mafia criminals summoned to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) this Thursday and Friday. We will follow with keen interest on how some of the criminals like Henrietta Rushwaya and Pedzisai Scott Sakupwanya will respond to PAC questions.

Clearly there is lack of will from the police and the government to arrest gold mafia criminals. Could it be that the involvement of Number 1 (Emmerson Mnangagwa) in the scandal makes ZRP boss Godwin Matanga to develop cold feet?

Is it now a case of who will bell the cat? But of course, we, the people can bell the cat! Mnangagwa knows the power of the people very well. Remember his “the voice of people is the voice of the God” statement after millions marched in support of removal of Robert Mugabe in 2017.

Another march this time against criminals looting our national cake with foreigners is surely necessary and needed.

If the police do not arrest Gold Mafia criminals, we, the citizens must effect citizens arrest.

We cannot allow the Gold Mafia issue to die a natural death. Never!

Arrest Gold Mafia

ARREST GOLD MAFIA: We strongly denounce the decision made by the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda to prevent the parliamentary committees from investigating the overwhelming evidence presented in the #GoldMafia documentary.

The evidence suggests that there is massive corruption, looting, money laundering, and the smuggling of gold by the political elites and their close allies.

The Speaker’s decision to prevent proper investigation raises serious doubts about the regime’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

We demand swift action be taken to investigate the matter to ensure that those involved in such illegal activities are brought to justice. #ARRESTGOLDMAFIA

He pleaded guilty to nine counts and will serve six and a half years in jail.

More Countries To Join BRICS

By- More countries across the globe have applied to join the BRICS, with the bloc planning to introduce a single currency to counter the dominant US dollar.

The BRICS group of nations, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, accounts for one-third of global economic output, and their combined output is more significant than that of the Group of Seven economies.

The countries exceeding 30, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe, have applied to join the BRICS economic alliance.

South Africa’s top diplomat to BRICS, Ambassador Anil Sooklal, has suggested that the alliance is set to expand this year, with a decision to be made at the BRICS summit in August.

BRICS nations will discuss the feasibility of introducing a common currency at a summit in South Africa later this year.

Zanu PF Youth Boss Mercs Up In Flames

Media Training on SADC Regional Integration Held in Lusaka

Lusaka, Zambia – A group of media practitioners and their networks from Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe participated in a Regional Media Training on SADC Regional Integration on the 15th of May 2023 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The training was organized by CUTS International (Lusaka) in collaboration with the SADC Secretariat and the Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa (SDGC/A).

The aim of the training was to equip the media with the skills and knowledge to effectively report on the opportunities and challenges of regional integration in Southern Africa and to enhance their role in advancing regional development and cooperation.

The training covered various aspects of the SADC Vision 2050 and Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan 2020-2030 (RISDP), which is a long-term and medium-term plan that envisions a peaceful, inclusive, competitive, middle- to high-income industrialized region, where all citizens enjoy sustainable economic well-being, justice, and freedom.

The training also discussed the SADC industrialization strategy, which is a roadmap for transforming the region’s economy from being resource-based to being productive and diversified, with a strong focus on value addition, technology,, and innovation.

Another issue that was explored was the SADC Free Trade Area, which is a trade arrangement that allows for duty-free trade among SADC Member States, with the aim of enhancing market integration and competitiveness

The role of media in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in the region was also highlighted.

The SDGs are a set of 17 global goals that address various social, economic, and environmental challenges, while the AfCFTA is a trade agreement that aims to create a single market for goods and services across Africa.

One of the highlights of the training was a keynote speech by Mr. Wazha Omphile, Project Management Officer at the SADC Secretariat, who shared his vision of accelerating the implementation of programs that aim to increase the volume of trade among Member States and thereby improve the livelihoods of the citizens of the community.

Omphile highlighted the challenges and gaps that affect the pace of regional integration and industrialization and how the SADC Secretariat is engaging member states and non-state actors to address them.

He stressed the importance of partnerships with the media to inform and engage citizens on SADC programs and opportunities and recognized the media as a key partner in raising awareness and fostering participation in SADC processes.

Another session that drew attention was Media Support in Monitoring and Advocacy SADC Processes by Dr. Ambrose Rwaheru Aheisibwe, Programmes Director at SDGC/A.

He explained why media advocacy is important for SADC regional integration and how media platforms can enable stakeholders such as policymakers and non-state actors to communicate the benefits, opportunities, and challenges of SADC processes.

He shared some innovative communication strategies that can build public awareness and inspire people to take direct action to support SADC processes.

Aheisibwe emphasized how the media can amplify the voices of marginalized groups and foster dialogue and accountability.

One of the participants, a journalist from Zimbabwe, said she was honored to be part of the training and expressed her appreciation for the insights she gained from the experts and fellow participants.

She said she learnt a lot about the SADC regional integration agenda and how it relates to the SDGs and AfCFTA adding she hoped to contribute to the discussion on how media can promote regional cooperation and development through her work.

The training was part of a series of activities under a project titled “Strengthening Media Capacity for Enhanced Reporting on Regional Integration in Southern Africa”.

The project aims to enhance media capacity to report on regional integration issues, facilitate dialogue between media and policymakers, and create platforms for sharing best practices and experiences among media practitioners in Southern Africa.

Windfall For Evicted White Farmers

By-The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged to help Zimbabwe raise $3.5 billion to compensate white farmers evicted at the turn of the millennium.

The compensation is a requirement for the nation’s largest creditors to accept a proposed debt-clearance program.

Akinwumi Adesina, the bank’s president, stated that they are working with the government to formulate a financial instrument that could leverage the capital markets to fund the compensation without adding debt to Zimbabwe. Adesina told reporters in the capital, Harare, on Monday:

We are currently working with the minister of finance and the government of Zimbabwe to develop a financial instrument that could potentially be useful. It will help leverage the capital markets to fund the compensation, without adding debt to Zimbabwe.

The government has missed repayment deadlines for an accord signed in 2020 to compensate white farmers, and discussions with creditors are ongoing after elections later this year.

While it initially envisioned paying the farmers over 20 years, that period has now been reduced to a decade, according to Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube.

The southern African nation concluded a fourth round of talks with creditors on Monday on the clearance of $17 billion it owes to multilateral lenders, including the World Bank and Paris Club.

More discussions are planned after elections scheduled for later this year.

Lady Qo-KillEver Tries To Be Clever, Says Qoki Isn’t Registered In UK: SITHULE FRAUD

COMMENT: Even if Qoki is registered in 10 other countries, its legal operating country is where it was traded, advertised and where its sole Director/owner operates from, that geo location is where His Majesty’s HMRC regulates. This is the case, no matter how many other (sub) directors Sithule Tshuma appoints to the satellite countries like Zimbabwe… because it is registered in UK, anything else is read as a fraudulent diversion, and those so called directors are technically sub owners, if at all they possess anything.

The UK based property scheme ringleader, Sithule Tshuma’s own lawyer has expressed affirmations over revelations that her Mthuli Ncube supported Qoki program is totally fraudulent, a term publicised by one of the founders.

Writing in a WhatsApp group, Zibusiso Ncube, connecting to another lawyer’s findings, sounded concerns only over what he said is “panic” that the ZimEye news piece causes. He went further to narrate that there is no malice whatsoever in the article, adding that his only disputation is what he terms ‘a design to defame,’ not the factual contents revealed in the Friday night piece, an investigation conducted over the last 3 years now set for litigation in UK courts. Zi Ncube’s opinion, connected to that of another lawyer who managed to obtain a USD6,000 quick refund from the Qoki company.

The lawyer writes to ZimEye stating as follows:

I just wanted to comment on this story. I’m based in Australia and helped my mother exit this scheme some time last year. I’m a SA trained lawyer based in Australia, when my mother who’s based in Australia as well, who had opened up to me about investing in this scheme, particularly buying a piece of land I became very suspicious and asked her to share all the documents she’d been given, they looked very suspicious and did not detail any sale of land at all. With the assistance of my Zim based colleagues who are lawyers, I obtained a combo at extract of the Qoki company that had purported to purchase this land and I discovered that the directors were Sithule and others. My mother and none of the members of that scheme were shareholders, so I then started to question the basis upon which they were entitled to the land in the absence of a shareholders agreed or any memorandum of understanding setting out the initial terms of this transaction.

I reached out to Sithule who was very aggressive and I then immediately told my mother to withdraw from the scheme and obtain her whole investment of approx US$6k. I wrote a letter to Qoki via Sithule and their lawyer; it took about a week or two to get the money back. Thankfully, all of it was refunded.

My other suspicions on the Qoki schemes were that it was a ponzi type scheme, which also flagged some potential money laundering concerns.

I’m glad this has finally come to light. I wish I could have had the chance to tell you guys about the story then but I didn’t know how or who to report this to. What upset me was looking the whole Qoki and Sithule business on Facebook and seeing how they kept luring people and people genuinely believed in it.

I’m happy to provide you with a detailed account should you wish a formal comment on this story.

Many thanks
Tawanda

By Investigative Correspondent | Fraud, fraud, fraud: title deeds that never come, and shares that don’t even exist – A UK based property scam went on for 5 years while being advertised as a multiple-director run community organisation, when it was just a single person’s business, that traps buyers through ‘the instalment-concept’ in the place of an outright purchase. (video)

Sithule Tshuma with Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube in London

The entity popularly known as “QOKI ZINDLOVUKAZI GROUP C.I.C” was no CIC at all, and clearly no multiple director entity, contrary to what its owner Sithule Tshuma claimed it was. (A CIC under UK law is a community interest company).

Running the Julian-Condlife-consulted entity using bullying techniques synonymous with church cults, the NHS nursing practitioner managed to convince hundreds of “investors” to believe her claim that she was running a community interest company, when the entire joint was just a private business designed to routinely squeeze out more money under the guise of never-ending development expenses, as victims would be made to pay more after their full figure has been settled.

So deceptive was the program that even one of the Qoki founders, popularly known under the alias, Ndaba Nhuku owned up to ZimEye, saying his own siblings would never buy property through Sithule Tshuma’s Qoki company, a development that’s seen a group of some of the best UK solicitors describing the scheme as a scam, just as they now offer to assist pro bono.

The story starts around 2016 when a (self-acclaimed blesser) UK based fraud accused lawyer, Julian Condliffe, and a nurse, Sithule Tshuma were running a property-lure venture advertising saying they were empowering women or blessing them so that they get their first title deeds.

[ARE YOU ALSO A FRAUD VICTIM AND WANT TO CLAIM YOUR MONEY? CLICK THE LINK OR EMAIL THE EDITOR]

Fast forward to 2017, Sithule Tshuma would start the formal company, flanked by the so called “investor, property solicitor, blesser,” Julian (Julie) Condliffe, and Tshuma’s male colleague, who is the so called Ndaba Nhuku (not real name).

The organisation was launched on 22 April 2017 under the expertise of property solicitor, and so called investor, Julian Condliffe who announced promises using religious language that the recruits were to be blessed or empowered by her (Julian Condliffe).

Condliffe also provided expert training to the several female attendants at Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Manchester City.

Julie Condliffe and Sithule Tshuma launching the Qoki Property Investment Program together on 22 April 2017.

Sithule Tshuma would soon start claiming that the company has numerous directors. She would also claim that purchases of land done by her company will have undergone due diligence processes, which was not true. Anyone who questions or requests for clarity would and continues to be bullied and labelled titles such as ‘an enemy of progress.’

As a result, hundreds of investors are now facing an uncertain future without either title deeds or ownership-paperwork having paid over lumpsums to try securing their promised investments. The total prejudice runs in the millions of dollars. Each investor paid amounts between USD7,000 and USD70,000 per person.

The first group of several “investors” has listed areas of deception by Sithule Tshuma, being:

1. Fake Community Organisation advertised as so when it is just a single individual’s property. While Sithule Tshuma displayed her company under the prefix, CIC, which title is reserved only for companies with at least 3 directors or trustees, she also proclaimed saying she has many directors on her board when there is only one, herself.

2. Incomplete or skimpy contracts that were only signed by one party, that is: “we signed contracts adhering to payments, however, the company or Sithule did not return the signed contract to us,” as said.

Evasive answers – anyone who questions and requires for clarity was quickly shut down and on social media bullied using the term, ‘an enemy of progress.’

3. Running coordinated bullying on social media while failing to answer simple questions over products asked by a broadcaster, Ezra Sibanda. Sithule Tshuma ran various bullying campaigns against people asking her simple questions, requiring a yes or no answer.

4. Diverting conversations from Ezra Sibanda when they could have been handled there., and taking out on another journalist who was not even working on her stories. Is that normal behaviour, and not a fraudulent one?

5. 3 years later, why have you not publicised clearly to these customers that the products they are buying into are not divisible, and that they also stand to lose all their money in the event of loss of life?

6. Why are investors, who make inquiries of clarity on many of these unclear things being punished by being removed from WhatsApp groups, if it is not to bully and subdue their will power?

7. Are you not running a cult that’s simply enslaving its members?

Properties bought over the period 2016 to 2023 are still to be issued title deeds over to the buyers, and anyone who complains is bullied and harassed while being regularly ordered to pay money for land development and maintenance.

In her audios, Tshuma continued to claim that her property purchases undergo the due diligence procedure.

A content audit of audio messages by Sithule Tshuma impressing investors to pay up for land purchases, reveals rapturous high-pitched repetitions of the following cluster of electric/emotive statements, tucked at the end by a non-conclusive that tries to insulate them by saying, “it’s entirely up to you what you do with your money.”

The cluster of electric pitched up to [A# Minor, and D#Minor] repetitions contain such as follows:

Our solicitors (lawyers) have done background checks…we don’t buy dodgy land… all we want is land… each person gets title deeds for their land… it takes roughly about a month… then that’s when subdivision begins… we are buying land together… but it will fall under Qoki… all the land will be used up…
we work with the council… we check title deeds prior… this is private land that we buy and then we subdivide… you shouldn’t contact the seller, because others have done it and then we’ve lost the land in the end… so it’s entirely up to you to trust us… we don’t buy dodgy land, the land is checked, everything if its good land, that’s why we work with city council, if its dodgy land you don’t even engage the city council, they won’t just going to build… thina, we work with city council, thats ukuthi… u town planner, who works at city council, everything is done city council, by abantu e city council… so, but I am not going to give you (details) of who is the seller because our lawyer has done that because I don’t want a situation where I tell you who is the seller and then we end up jeopardising the land… “

LAWYER’S FRAUDULENT ASSURANCE. Sithule Tshuma’s lawyer Zibusiso Charles Ncube in the conversation would at the end on his own assure buyers that per Tshuma’s words, he has truly done background checks on a piece of land owned by a ‘White guy’, indicating that, after paying the full purchase price they are going to get the Title Deeds which they (buyers) however still do not have to date.

Even the very title deed for the farm land, is still to be delivered 2 years later, as the one the lawyer supplied on 22 April 2021 was invalid, according to the Deeds Office.

Using religious terms, Zibusiso Charles Ncube posting an audio message in the WhatsApp group said in full on 1 Jan 2021, “Good evening ladies, the sun is set where I am, and I can safely say, happy new year; we want to thank the Lord for bringing us this far, it’s been a very tough year, but look, the Lord has been gracious and is still gracious, and I pray that He gives each and every one of us a prosperous, and definitely better 2021;

“Alright, Nondweni ladies, we made another instalment payment today. In terms of the subdivision of the property, we ate into the seller’s property, I think we ate into the seller’s property by 7 hectares.

“But he is an understanding guy.

“He is a fella that I also go to church with, he is Adventist.

“He is understanding, he is excited by the way we actually handled the transaction and is actually even considering selling off the entire property onto us, so with Nondweni the next stage is once we complete the instalments, and we pay the purchase price in full we shall move on now to take title (deed).

“Remember this is needed this what do you call this? A Certificate of No Present Interest, Mr Majoko the seller’s legal practitioner is handling that; I will touch base with him in the turn of the year, probably in the first week, to ascertain how far we have gone, I think we had given him up to the end of January, to procure that document, but otherwise i think we are on course.

“I believe there are surveyors who are also on the ground, they should be able to give us updates in terms of what they are doing, but otherwise I am happy with the way that we are progressing, let’s continue united as we are, and very soon we will be through. Otherwise, well done ladies, let’s keeping on!”

My own sister I told her don’t buy this kind of land

However, commenting over the development, Ndaba Nhuku told ZimEye, the Qoki method is neither reliable nor credible. He said: “… all the people who go to Qoki they opt in as individuals, they are not forced. There is no coercion, like in a church. You are asked you want to buy land, you want to buy land, you are told, this is what is available guys. Do you want to join? They join on their own.

“In land, there will be 10. 10 women. They won’t be many people.

“So, it’s not as straight forward as people who come to you complaining, whether they are 100 or what. They just want to use you, if they use you fair and fine. And then people like me will come and defend Sithule.

“Because Qoki, I founded it, and I know the principles behind Qoki. I am the founder of them, just like I told Ezra. Qoki is my baby, when I defend it I defend it knowing what is happening inside it, and knowing what. My own sister I told her don’t buy this kind of land. Go and buy your own land individually, because this land takes long to divide, the council wants you to meet certain requirements and its exhausting for an individual to make it. And all those people were told that we shall do this, do this, but they like paying small amounts, yes small amounts come with so many tags, it becomes exhausting, for people who don’t have resources who work. So, in a nutshell this is what happens with land bought by groups…”

Meanwhile, Sithule Tshuma who is on record declaring that her company is a community interest entity that has different directors, did not comment. On 1 April 2021, Tshuma, in a WhatsApp group with her lawyer Zibusiso Charles Ncube, said in part: “Even if anything had to happen to me, God forbid Qoki is an organisation with different directors. It’s a registered organisation with different directors ladies and it’s well known that Qoki is you people not an individual thing or company or whether its got different directors. The lawyers represent Qoki, not an individual, if I am making sense.”

It is this falsehood that has woken investors up following the initial investigation by VOA journalist, Ezra Sibanda.

Meanwhile, Sithule Tshuma’s lawyer Zibusiso Charles Ncube who continued to act as a sales advocate for her, repeatedly stressing a claim that Miss Tshuma is not at all fraudulent in her business so investors must pay all and any new charges forced on the investors.

When Ncube was asked by ZimEye, he reported back via phone saying the clear contradictions between Sithule’s claim to organisational structure and reality, are empty allegations being raised by the media. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.

Zibusiso Charles Ncube has since been reported to the Law Society Of Zimbabwe.

The investigation continues. [ARE YOU ALSO A FRAUD VICTIM AND WANT TO CLAIM YOUR MONEY? CLICK THE LINK OR EMAIL THE EDITOR]

Mliswa Challenges Mnangagwa Over Gold Mafia

Norton legislator Temba Mliswa (Independent) has challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to respond to Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia investigative documentary which has alleged involvement of the First Family and other senior government officials in alleged gold and money laundering activities in Zimbabwe.

Al Jazeera released a four-part documentary series centred on a secret recording of Mnangagwa’s ambassador-at-large Uebert Angel — born Uebert Mudzanire — and his associates promising to help undercover journalists launder US$1,2 billion in dirty money.

Since the release of the documentary, Mnangagwa has said nothing about the issue although Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services minister Monica Mutsvangwa has said government is taking “allegations raised in the documentary seriously and has directed relevant organs to institute investigations into the issues raised therein”.

However, speaking during an interview with Alpha Media Holdings chairman Trevor Ncube on the platform In Conversation with Trevor, Mliswa said: “The police have not arrested Ewan MacMillan and Simon Rudland because they had the right documentation from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as they were flying gold above board with Emirates coming back with cash and it is documented. What wrong have they done?

“Most of these people saw an opportunity as business people, they are capitalists and they seized an opportunity. The question is on leadership. They have done nothing wrong, they are making their own money, their duty is to make money and any opportunity they will seize on it they are exonerated,” he said.

“The number one citizen, the President has got to respond to these issues and (that’s my) advice, it’s either he takes it or he does not and advice does not have to go through one to nine.”

He said as a legislator he was wondering why Mnangagwa was not responding to the allegations.

“When George Charamba is  responding as the presidential spokesperson he is not even doing a good job and if so, then can we say that it’s the President’s response?” Mliswa added.

Mliswa was expelled from Zanu PF party in 2015 over allegations of fuelling factionalism, insubordination and undermining the authority of the party, among several other charges.

Jah Prayzah’s ‘Chero!’ Attend At Your Own Risk

By Godfrey Madanhire | Jah Prayzah got me with his song titled “Chero” on his recently launched album, Maita Baba. It hits hard. Normally, it takes me a while before newly released music resonates with my soul but this one is definitely an exception to the rule.” Chero” loosely translated to mean “ Whatever” screams the highest degree of arrogance and I happen to be a natural admirer of individuals who have mastered the art to make a cocktail of confidence and self-belief with a dash of arrogance.

It is not a surprise that I am equally a huge fan of relatively arrogant athletes like the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. Those who read the Bible will remember John 14 verse 6 when Jesus said, “ I am the way, the truth and the life.” For me, this is a demonstration of the highest level of personal development beyond Self-actualisation. The true top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs which is often referred to as transcendence.

Here, we are witnessing an artist who no longer sees the studio as an opportunity to help put food on the table but a laboratory to invent a boat to cruise through uncharted waters. It is not a surprise that he boldly says, “ Chero zvazvaita” which means whatever happens. In essence, he is not praying for a particular outcome.

Whether his latest project boasting two albums released at the same time flops of flies, he remains the best news to ever come out of Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe of course besides election results for the ruling political party.

This is not the first time, we have listened to “Wagwizi” singing his own praises. Songs like “ Soja rinosvika kure” come to mind. He believes, he knows and he is certain that he is a master at his craft and a captain of his ship. . Who are we to argue? He kicks off the song by saying “ Ini ndinorira unozviziva.” Here, Jah Prayzah is declaring that he is indeed the personification of the African sound which probably explains the meaning behind the picture on the cover of this latest album where he is seen in good company of a goat. He is indeed the G.O.A.T, the greatest of all times. He defends his territory and counterpunches like Floyd Mayweather,, he paints our world like Pablo Picasso. We are in awe.

Let me hasten to mention that my appreciation of J.P’s confidence and arrogance does not mean a disregard for those who choose to be humble. Some people make it big in life but still choose humility. Football fans will automatically think of players such as Lionel Messi and Luca Modric. We recently saw a class act from Messi when he wore a suit and issued an apology to PSG for taking an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia. That’s humility beyond measure.

Those who know their beatitudes from Matthew 5 in the Bible will quickly say, “ Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth”. There is definitely a reward for those who choose this path. Music fans from Africa especially Zimbabwe will mention the genius, Winky D who recently chose peace in Bulawayo and avoided singing his latest controversial anthem titled “Ibotso.” These are all great and talented individuals sitting on the other side of aisle. They believe in holding back and lying low with the hope of being lifted by the results of their work and that is obviusly magical. Personally, I just choose boldness and colour over shyness and modesty which can often be confused with timidness.

At some point JP probably disses his detractors which is something normally synonymous with hiphop artists worldwide. We have often seen it in South Africa between the late AKA and Casper Nyovest. Read or rather listen in between the lines when he says, “ Makatanga mune stayera mukachinja stayera kusvika pakuguma.” In my opinion, the writing is on the wall and its Game on. He believes his competitors even went as far as changing their genre until they became irrelevant. He is probably laying a tombstone for those who viewed themselves as his competition and the epitaph reads, “ You expired!” Some might argue, that Wagwizi is much bigger and more profound than that. He is simply sharing life lessons with you and me. We should therefore walk with optimism knowing that Naysayers will eventually hoist a white flag calling for ceasefire in defeat. Mukudzeyi Mukombe’s rich lyrical content in this song includes a few lines where he acknowledges the respect that he is accorded. His parents probably knew that he will command such respect when they named him, Mukudzeyi at birth. “ which is a call to respect him. “ Ndikasvika vanondiomberera semudzimu unoera vakandiona”, is heavily pregnant with meaning. Those who have had the privilege to witness JP performing Goto on stage will understand why he deliberately chose to draw similarities between the reception he gets from his fans and followers and the supernatural being, the spiritual and the departed. There is a viral video of a woman rolling on the grass section of the VIP area in a real trance as JP belts out Goto in Bulawayo. JP legal team probably needs to advise him to have a disclaimer on his show tickets,
“ Attend at your own risk.”

On a serious note, his connection with African tradition sometimes scares me. In “ Chero” he diverts, “ Izwi rakangoti famba wakadaro, zvakanaka-naka munzira iyoyi. Vakuruwe inzwaiwo mundidaire muninga iyoyi.” I am willing to bet my last Dollar that in such rare instances, JP enjoys special citizenship in a completely different world. Who dares sing about “ ninga!” For those who might not be in the know, “ninga” is a cave where kings used to be buried with their riches. So why is JP even singing about ninga in 2023? Talk about discomfort!

On a lighter and more comfortable note, Jah Prayzah embraces his poetic prowess and goes lyrical with rhyming and rhythmic lines which will likely resonate with the streets, “ Mafira kureva kunge Sauro, Kasipo kadiki kanoperera patauro.” He is obviously diluting the tension but at the same time speaking a language that you and me will comprehend.

Towards the end of the song, in the true spirit of an accomplished artist, he makes use of his special licence in literature to create words that might not even exist, “ Ndinohekenurwa.” Whether this word exists in our Shona vocabulary or not is neither here nor there. He is scot-free to break grammar and even your legs on the dance floor.

Now, I urge you to go back and play this song. Repeat.

Godfrey Madanhire.

Uebert Angel Off The Hook

By-The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ)’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) yesterday made a summersault by reversing its order for banks to freeze accounts of several government officials and individuals who were implicated in gold smuggling gold and money laundering activities exposed by the Al Jazeera documentary.

In a statement yesterday, the FIU directed financial institutions to “unfreeze all assets and other financial assets” belonging to those implicated in the documentary.

“The FIU, working in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has since concluded its analysis of the four episodes of the Al Jazeera documentary and has also analysed the financial assets and transactions of the persons implicated in the documentary and has determined that there is no good cause for the freezing order to remain in place. The FIU has not identified transactions / assets linked to money laundering and related financial crime connected to the allegations in the Al Jazeera documentary,” reads the FIU statement.

Several Feared Dead, As Four Cars Burn In Chivi Horror Crash

By-Four cars, including haulage trucks, were reduced to ashes Monday in a head-on collision between two haulage trucks along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway.

Four vehicles include two trucks, a Honda Fit and a Nissan Almera.

The incident took place near the Chivi Turn-Off tollgate at the 55km peg. The number of people in the affected vehicles or any potential casualties is yet to be confirmed.

The Fire Brigade managed to extinguish the fire, but not before it had caused extensive damage to the two haulage trucks. Nearby villagers were alarmed by the thick black smoke emanating from the site and rushed to the scene to offer assistance.

Police and other good Samaritans transported the survivors to Chivi District Hospital for evaluation. Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, the Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, stated that investigations into the incident were ongoing and that it was not yet clear if there were any casualties. The state media  quotes him as saying:

We have our team at the scene right now and as of now we don’t know whether there have been any deaths, how many people were in all the vehicles and what caused the accident.

The Fire Brigade has managed to put out the fire and all the four vehicles were severely burnt and our teams are now closely investigating to see if there were any deaths because some of the survivors and witnesses are giving conflicting statements.

Inspector Dhewa stated that it is the norm for accident survivors to undergo medical examinations, even if it is just to address shock. He further commented that a complete understanding of the situation will only be possible once the investigation teams have concluded their work at the site.

The available information suggests that two haulage trucks collided head-on while two small vehicles following one of the trucks caught fire and were destroyed. The Honda Fit and Nissan Almera were also reduced to ashes. Inspector Dhewa added that the details are still incomplete, and they are awaiting the conclusion of the investigation now that the fire on the affected vehicles has been extinguished.

RBZ Makes U-Turn On Gold Mafia Criminals

By-The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has pardoned Gold criminals exposed by an Al Jazeera film, saying it has no evidence of the exposed looting.

RBZ’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has directed financial institutions to unfreeze all the accounts and other financial assets belonging to these individuals.

The central bank said it froze the assets of Cleopas Chidodo, David Chirozvi, Mehlululi Dube and Fredrick Kunaka, who told the undercover Al Jazeera reporters that they accepted money to assist a gold-smuggling and money laundering.
The four men, all Zimbabwean nationals, made the statements in a four-part documentary series called “Gold Mafia”.

The state media in early April indicated that the RBZ had directed that accounts belonging to Ewan McMillan, Kamlesh Pattni, Uebert Angel, and Simon Rudland should be frozen.
But in a statement issued on Monday, 15 May 2023, FIU director Oliver Chiperesa said the Unit had not identified transactions linked to money laundering connected to the allegations in the Al Jazeera documentary. Reads the statement:
Following the broadcast of Al Jazeera’s documentary series titled “The Gold Mafia,” the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) issued a directive on 31 March 2023 directing financial institutions to identify, freeze and report bank accounts and other financial assets owned and/or controlled by individuals who were alleged to have played key roles in alleged acts of money laundering and other financial crimes.
The FIU exercised its temporary freezing powers to ensure that any illicit proceeds connected to the allegations in the documentary would not be dissipated or disposed of by the persons concerned and prejudice potential future investigations.
The FIU, working in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has since concluded its analysis of the four episodes of the Al Jazeera documentary and has also analyzed the financial assets and transactions of the persons implicated in the documentary and has determined that there is no good cause for the freezing order to remain in place.
The FIU has not identified transactions/assets linked to money laundering and related financial crime connected to the allegations in the Al Jazeera documentary.
In view of the above, the FIU has directed financial institutions to unfreeze all the accounts and other financial assets that had been frozen pursuant to the directive of 31 March 2023.
The unfreezing action is without prejudice to any further investigations that law enforcement agencies may wish to commence or continue against any of the persons involved.
Some of the allegations in the documentary relate to money laundering and financial crimes alleged to have taken place outside Zimbabwe’s borders.
The FIU, if so requested, stands ready and is indeed mandated to cooperate with any international investigations against any of the persons or entities mentioned in the documentary.

Uebert Angel Evades Mnangagwa

By- Controversial preacher Uebert Angel — who fears arrest and persecution if he returns to Zimbabwe for exposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s role in Gold looting in Al Jazeera’s investigative Gold Mafia documentary is now in Britain.

Angel was holed up in Dubai alongside several prominent members of rival gangs exposed in the documentary as key players engaging in the looting of Zimbabwe’s gold and money laundering activities. Angel holds a British passport.
Despite being far away from Zimbabwe, Angel remains under scrutiny even in Britain, where House of Lords member Jonathan Oates has requested that he and his assistant Rikki Doolan be investigated for alleged gold smuggling, money laundering and corruption.
Oates has demanded that Angel and Doolan’s assets be frozen since they are UK citizens. Mnangagwa’s adviser Eddie Cross has indicated that Angel will be arrested on arrival in Zimbabwe. He has been holed up in Dubai studying the mood of the Zimbabwean authorities while weighing his options, before leaving for Britain.
Dubai received most of the country’s smuggled Gold. Angel was the most vocal and undiplomatic actor in the four-part investigative series which exposed that Mnangagwa had a close relationship with gold smugglers and money launderers, who claimed they were making regular payments to the President to ensure protection.
The controversial diplomat played a role in exposing Mnangagwa, his wife Auxillia, niece Henrietta Rushwaya and the President’s gold runner Pedzisai “Scott” Sakupwanya in the documentary.
One of Africa’s largest gold smugglers, Kamlesh Pattni, known as Brother Paul, who features prominently in the documentary is also in Dubai, which he described as the headquarters of Africa in the documentary.
“Dubai is the headquarters. Dubai is the centre of Africa; a banking centre, financial centre, it’s tax free,” he told undercover reporters.
Pattni has all but abandoned his Zimbabwean operations. In the 1990s, his firm Goldenberg International was at the centre of a giant scandal that robbed Kenya of US$600 million — 10% of its gross domestic product at the time.
The then president Daniel Arap Moi allowed Pattni to export Kenyan Gold at a time when the East African country was facing a Western aid embargo in return for massive incentives.
Alistair Mathias, a Canadian national who is the brains behind Ewan MacMillan’s gold operations, is also believed to be in Dubai, where he largely operates from.
Mathias allegedly launders money for people all over the world, from Russians to African politicians, using a web of companies and refineries to make sure money “gets moved around”.
A key player on the South African front, Mohammed Khan, better known as “Mo Dollars”, who made headlines as the man at the centre of the alleged money laundering scheme involving Gold and tobacco, assisting prominent business persons Simon Rudland and Gold Lead Tobacco Corp, as well as the Gupta brothers, who were at the centre of state capture allegations during former president Jacob Zuma’s tenure, has also fled to Dubai, according to various media reports.
Interestingly, he has joined the Gupta brothers who are also holed up in Dubai. A Dubai court this month rejected South Africa’s request to extradite Atul and Rajesh Gupta due to insufficient legal documentation.
Dubai police arrested the Gupta brothers in June after Interpol had issued a Red Notice against them for allegedly looting billions from state-owned companies in South Africa. The United Arab Emirates and South Africa signed fied in 2021.
Following their arrest, the South African authorities submitted an extradition request based on two cases of money laundering, fraud and corruption.
The ministry of Justice said in a statement that the Dubai Court of Appeal rejected the request following a “comprehensive and thorough legal review process” that found the documents submitted were not in line with the extradition agreement between the UAE and South Africa.
The ministry said that based on the extradition treaty, the charge of fraud should be accompanied by a copy of the arrest warrant order.
However, the submitted documents for the two accused were cancelled arrest warrant orders. Also based on the treaty, the charge of corruption should be accompanied by a copy of the arrest warrant order, the court said.
The ministry said the “submitted documents are free of the arrest warrant order of the two accused for the charge of corruption”, which also failed to meet the extradition conditions.
The ministry said it received the original extradition file from the South African authorities on 29 November, after holding several meetings.
The extradition request was referred to the prosecutors to investigate the accused concerning the charges levelled against them.
After a comprehensive investigation, the file was referred to the Court of Appeal, which held three hearings before issuing its decision.
“At every step, UAE judicial authorities briefed their South African counterparts on proceedings,” the ministry said in its statement.

We Are Not Afraid Of Polls – Zanu PF

ZANU PF is forging ahead with its mobilisation drive ahead of the general elections scheduled for August this year with Mutare North expecting high votes for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the party.

The ZANU PF Women’s League organised a rally held at Odzi in Mutare North which saw the party stressing the need for unity of purpose ahead of the general elections.

ZANU PF Mutare North candidate Cde Admire Mahachi pledged to work with every party member including those who contested him during the party’s primary elections.

“We are targeting a record high victory for President Mnangagwa and the party in Mutare North. I promise to work with all party members and those who contested against me during the primary elections for the success of the party,” he said.

The provincial party leadership is convinced that unity of purpose will lead to a landslide victory.

“Members of the women’s league should use their numerical advantage to resoundingly vote for the party during the forthcoming general elections. We need to advance party interests ahead of personal interests. The primary elections are a closed chapter and we need to focus on the general elections,” said ZANU PF Manicaland Women’s league Provincial Chairperson, Happiness Nyakuedzwa.

ZANU PF Manicaland Provincial Acting Chairperson, Tawanda Mukodza said, “We should direct our efforts towards campaigning for president Mnangagwa and the party. There is need to accept primary elections results and move forward to mobilise more support for the president and the party. Mutare North had many votes for president Mnangagwa last elections and should aim higher.”

ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for Administration Senator Monica Mutsvangwa called on Mutare North to remain pace setters in voting for President Mnangagwa and the party buoyed by the progressive policies being implemented by the Second Republic.

“Chamisa is seeing that there is no chance of winning and seeks to push forward elections. Our President follows the constitutional provisions. Elections are going to be held in August this year. As women’s league we should be at the forefront of mobilising support for President Mnangagwa. The UK finally saw the good works by President Mnangagwa and invited him to the coronation function .

“SADC saw the good works by President Mnangagwa and declared 25 October as the Anti-Sanctions Day. The African Union is also in full support of the leadership of President Mnangagwa. As Zimbabweans we should be the first to acknowledge the good works being done be our leader,” she said.

Senator Mutsvangwa assured Zimbabweans that the war against speculation induced price hikes and inflation is going to be successful adding that measures are already being put in place to reverse the effects of economic sabotage.

”We shouldn’t take for granted the good works and successes being achieved by President Mnangagwa. The fuel queues are now a thing of the past. He has introduced the Presidential Tick-grease and Presidential Boreholes among others.

“The President is also looking into the issue of basic commodities and price distortions due to speculation. Zimbabwe has dealt with many challenges including waging the war of liberation. The government will not fail to win the war against unjustified price hikes. The President has seen that prices of basic commodities are being hiked in shops and he has decided to allow importation of ten basic commodities to increase their supply and reduce speculation,” she added.

With Mutare North having 33 000 voters, Senator Mutsvangwa said there is still room to mobilise more people to register to vote.

She also stated that the country’s economy is heading for better days due to strides by President Mnangagwa to open up more factories and the discovery of more resources in the country.- ZBC News

Mliswa Maintenance Case

Norton MP, Temba Mliswa, has accused the justice system of being duped today, claiming he had paid all of his arrears.

The legislator is accused of not making maintenance payments.

Mliswa informed the court through his attorney that he has covered all of his children’s education expenses.

He sued, and Hellenic Primary School received a total payment of $104 billion.

Cynthia Tendai Mugwira, the complainant, claimed that Mliswa owed the school $1 216 000 in unpaid school fees.

The legislator claimed that he had paid all outstanding school fees and was left puzzled why he was in court.

“As a Member of Parliament, my duty is to make laws. I deny owing the school such an amount,” he said. He further stated that he was wondering where the figures are coming from as he settled all his bills.

Mliswa said he was billed in United States dollars and he paid using the interbank prevailing rate in terms of Statutory Instrument 33/2019 that was gazetted by President Mnangagwa.

“I told the school authority that their rate was not consistent with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe exchange rate,” Mliswa said.

He further told court that after submitting all evidence before the National Prosecuting Authority officials they should have declined to prosecute the matter but on reasons known to them he was in court.

Mliswa said although the children are subject to DNA he is paying their fees as an order of the court.

Responding to a question from prosecutor Ms Mandirasa Chigumira on the age of the children, Mliswa said he does not know since the complainant does not allow him to attend their birthdays.

He said there is no evidence that the school said he refused to pay saying it’s only coming from the complainant.

Mliswa told the court that he cannot be forced to pay a black market rate as it is illegal saying the court cannot sit to deliberate his failure to pay a black market rate in favour of an interbank official rate.

The magistrate invoked sections of the court to allow the State to summon the school representative to testify in the matter.

Baby Killer Nabbed

MASVINGO- A suspected mentally challenged Mucheke woman who made headlines last week when she allegedly cut a newly born baby into pieces was remanded to May 23, 2023.
Ngonidazashe Mukanhairi (34), who appeared in court for initial remand, hailed insults and demanded she is granted the chance to explain what transpired on the day. Magistrate Rethakgetsi Silaigwana called prison officers to take her out of the court.

Mukanhairi vehemently denied killing her baby but told the court that she never slept with a man and had a bulging stomach confused for pregnancy because someone bewitched her.
She said the baby was not hers and she is being framed for killing the baby. She said she was surprised to find a rotten baby in her room. She asked the court if someone could give birth to a rotten baby.

“Let me tell the truth. Even God wants us to tell the truth. I was not pregnant, and the dead infant found in my room was not mine since never slept with a man. I was bewitched that is why I had a swollen tummy. I am a morally upright girl, you can ask Mupfinho who was taking care of me, and she will testify that she has never seen me with a man”, she said.- Masvingo Mirror

The complainant, her small brother, and the accused person were at home on an unknown date in November 2021, the court was informed. Their mother had gone to the Duma Surbarb to sell firewood. The complainant was summoned by the accused to his mother’s bedroom.

QOKI: Sithule Says You Can’t See The Land Cause Last Time Someone Stole The Land

The following account by Qoki investor, Thembi Bheka, attempts to narrate her concerns over the property investment scandal. She writes saying:

I have gone back and forth wondering if I should share my experience on the Qoki land. I have seen people fight for and against Qoki and Sithule. Most with no facts but emotions. I am not saying there is a right or wrong side but I think it’s important to be factual and make comments based on facts not emotions.

Because of the facts stated here, I do not think this will be deleted. If it is, it will make me wonder about Qoki and obviously ask more questions, as nothing I said here is my opinion.

I wanted to share the truth and voice my honest opinion as someone who bought land with the Qoki group.

Full disclosure: I am neither friends or enemies with Qoki or Sithule. This is my personal experience and the facts stated here do not represent and are in no way related to my company or any corporations, entities I have partnerships with.

I came across Qoki through a very trusted friend who had already bought land with them. When she told me about it, I was very excited and shared with others.

I did due diligence and spoke to several people who claimed they had received documentation regarding their purchases.

This was one of those investments based on emotion and trust more than logic. Something I never do.

When I asked to see the land, Sithule mentioned that they had a previous experience where someone had stolen the land so you could only see it after purchase, which was fair. I did see the land eventually.

Fast forward after the land was bought and I had paid, I asked for an agreement for sale. I got one between Qoki Investments Pvt Ltd ( a company privately registered under Sithule) and the seller. When I inquired about a legal agreement between me and Qoki Investments Pvt Limited since my name was not on the contract, I and other ladies were sent a 1 page document. My assumption was that once I fill that the lawyer would enter my details but it never happened.

To be honest I got so busy on my end and never followed up. Looking back, I should have. I expected that I would receive a signed copy back from Qoki but nothing was signed or on file.

The only proof I had and still have are the receipts.

In the whatsapp group a few individuals asked what was going on and the response was arrogant and one used as an intimidation tactic: ” Sis, we have bought 7 million worth of real estate, we know what we are doing.”

This brought a lot of concerns for me. There was not enough clarity and transparency.

Any questions were met with ‘we have experience, abantu beMatebeleland bahambela emuva, you are not good for progress narrative.’

This was frustrating and annoying. Even though the land seemed like a good investment relative to the price and location, the lack of professionalism and any legal documentation was and is very concerning.

I still ‘own’ this land. I do have a copy of the agreement of sale between Qoki and the seller. However, other than the receipts I paid and a bunch of voice notes promising and providing updates, I have nothing to prove ownership.

As someone who has bought private, virgin land before, I know the process. Yes it is long and tedious but also the main name registered has to have seperate agreements with other buyers

I would like to believe Sithule has no intention to scam anyone. I want to believe her intentions are good, however the lack of clarity, knowledge and transparency is very concerning.

It is clear this is a case of blind leading the blind. Which is ok if the blind can accept help from a one eyed man, but that is not the case.

An example is with the Qoki trucks and service station businesses, all of which I was interested in. As someone who is already in business, I asked for the projected statements, return on investment and things which a normal person would know and calculate before starting a business.

No one in the interest groups could answer that, the ladies who were in the group had no answer, it was a ‘ people are making it with trucks’ kinda response. I tried to offer advice based on my experience I had with business on how we need to do market research, calculate projected returns and come up with competitive advantage before investing. I was shut down very fast and told I needed to trust the process, other people are making money etc. I didn’t even bother continuing and exited the groups.

That is when I started doubting if Qoki ever did any due diligence. I still don’t know the answer but right now, I hope the land I bought is legit and subdividable and I can get a legal document or agreement of sale between me and Qoki. Off course I have started doing my own research with legal counsel and so far I don’t like what I am discovering.

As is, I do not know what happens if, God forbid something happens to Sithule as she is the only signatory representing Qoki on the land.

My name is not on the Agreement for sale as I initially was made to believe. It says Qoki Investments but there is no proof I am part of the Qoki Investments. I have no legal claim towards the investment.

The investment was portrayed as if it was a cooperative. Sadly the decisions seem to come from Sithule alone. There is no board of directors and if they exist, they definitely have never signed a document for the projects I am part of.

There was definitely a lot of misrepresentation, a lot of hype and a lot of empty promises.

Based on Facebook posts, I was made to believe that the ladies who bought the land first were getting their title deeds and now starting the construction. It turns out, no single person has built a house or shack on the land. So clearly this is a longer process than initially portrayed.

Sithule posted plans portraying how the neighborhoods would look like. Naively, I assumed these were approved plans. It appears these are just diagrams.

I have friends and family members in all these projects cause ngamawala, I invited everyone I knew. They trusted me because they know I have invested in millions of real estate. I was a real estate investor coach and started a local chapter where I lived in Canada.
People come to me when they need real estate investing advice and this time I let them down. I let my gut down and invested based on emotions more than logic. I am embarrassed at my self for not doing enough due diligence. That is why I am speaking out.

I was personally made to believe that I would be a part of the planning process since we are collectively buying this together. We would make decisions on the type of neighborhood, roads and houses we want as women. My experience is different.

It is a one woman decision. If you ask you are labeled an enemy of progress or told to leave if you don’t want. In other groups, I hear the commenting rights have been turned off. Only admin can post.

If you ask Sithule about simple things like selling your land or what to expect, I have been told she will block you or in my case outright ignore you.

On social media, Sithule has mentioned she wanted to help people and now they are turning against her. This, sadly is a very narcissistic trait and emotionally damaging for the buyers who feel their voice is not heard.

So far, in my experience, there are many Qoki projects. I am yet to see one that has come to fruition which makes me think that either Qoki started too many initiatives and are struggling to complete, the process is way longer than was promised or this is an outright scam. I hope it’s not the latter.

My conclusion in regards to the whole investment.

I believe this was a great initiative with good intentions. I have seen projects like this become successful, But the members work together.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to me, Sithule wants to control everything. She is the only signatory in the paperwork I have seen. She is the admin for every FB group and everyone is a moderator. I work with business owners and entrepreneurs. I am yet to meet one who controls everything and success. I don’t even know my business FB and IG page password cause my team manages that.

I do understand that Sithule wants me to trust the process based on her word.

Unfortunately that’s not how it works in business. You need proof and proper documentation. In investments there has to be reports and updates. Even if it’s bad.

I have made bad investments too with client monies and lost a lot of money. As hard as it is, the best way is to be transparent, and come out. Believe me, it’s hard and humbling, but there is no other way around it.

And you have to be willing to take feedback from anyone, without taking offence or pretending all is normal.

The lack of professionalism and transparency from Sithule who I now believe is the only Qoki Director even though she made it sound like it’s a big entity with other people making decisions is the reason this good and well intended project might fail. Nothing else.

Investment wise, I am not sure if it was worth it. I probably won’t know until all expenses have been paid. The cost of roads, sewer and other expenses might negate the savings.

I was told to budget 4k for extra costs but I am now learning there is more.

I do hope, for my sake and other women, the projects go through. If they don’t, it will be due to lack of professionalism, honesty and experience from Qoki.

As for other investments like Trucks, businesses, service stations etc, I feel for those who invested in them because those had no business plans, just speculation nje.

Going forward, I hope Sithule will learn from these challenges and feedback and not take offence. That’s how you build and become a successful business person. By learning from mistakes, tweak and change instead of being defensive.

If you have considered investing in Qoki land and don’t mind being a silent partner who puts money, waits, and hope everything you are told is true then this would not be a bad idea.

If you like clarity, transparency and formality, then Qoki is not for you.

For now I wait and pray that there is more transparency and I get a legal document showing I own the land. At present, I am hoping that my lawyer’s initial investigations are wrong. Otherwise if true, I own nothing but a piece of state land that can’t even be sold.

In as much as I would like to applaud Sithule for this initiative as I believe It was and still is a great idea and I am sure it’s been a lot of work on her part, I am deeply concerned by the lack of transparency and professionalism.

I hope I can be proven wrong and come back here and post otherwise. For now, I will go ahead and do the proper due diligence I should have done in the first place.

I apologize to those who invested in this project trusting me. I did not do enough due diligence and I am sorry.

Communal Mining Key In Economic Development

With just a month left before the end of his deal, the 32-year-old is now eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice.

“He is a high-level player that we would like to have in our team,” Haji told Isolezwe newspaper, as cited by Goal.com.

“We know him and we know that his contract is ending. However, he is still a Chiefs player, we must respect that.

Woman Kills Own Baby

Several Feared Dead In Chivi Horror Crash

By-Several people are feared dead after four vehicles, including two haulage trucks, were involved in a pile-up and caught fire near Chibi Turn Off Tollgate along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway Monday afternoon.

The horrific crash was sparked by two haulage trucks that collided head-on and caught fire which also started burning two light vehicles that were closely following behind one of the trucks coming from the Masvingo direction.
It is unclear how many people were in all four vehicles and whether there are any survivors as police, fire brigade and first responders from the community around the scene were still trying to put out the fire and rummage through the vehicles and trucks’ shells.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa says it is too early to talk about fatalities.

“We have our team at the scene right now and as of now, we don’t know whether there have been any deaths, how many people were in all the vehicles and what caused the accident.

“We will have a full picture once our teams have finished investigations at the scene,” he said.
Inspector Dhewa said the only available information is that two haulage trucks coming from opposite directions collided head-on and two small cars following behind one of the trucks also caught fire and were burnt.

“A Honda Fit and an Almera that was behind one of the trucks involved in the collision, also caught fire together with the two trucks “added Inspector Dhewa.

Zanu PF Frogmarchs Villagers To Rallies

By- Desperate Zanu PF officials for the Midlands Province are directing traditional leaders to force villagers to attend their meetings mainly because of poor attendance caused by disputed primary elections held in March.

Reports indicate that ZANU PF members have been snubbing meetings protesting the manner the party held its primary elections.

Thousands of bonafide members failed to vote after their names went missing from the voters’ roll giving an unfair advantage to some candidates.

ZANU PF secretary for security Lovemore Matuke will be in Gweru on Tuesday for a crisis meeting to deal with the simmering tensions.

NewsDay reported that on Friday, only 17 people attended a meeting organised by Gokwe-Nembudziya parliamentary candidate Flora Buka that was addressed by provincial political commissar Maud Ngwenya.

The meeting was held at the Nembudziya Rural District Council offices (Gokwe North) to mobilise support for the forthcoming elections.

According to a WhatsApp message that was circulated on Sunday, Buka has now called another meeting this Monday at the same venue.

She ordered chiefs and to order village heads to bring their subjects to meeting. Reads the message:

Mamuka sei nhasi, muudze masabhuku vauye nevanhu vavo vose kumusangano mangwana pa council pari kuuya national PC (good morning, can you tell the kraal heads to bring all their subjects for a meeting at the council offices which will be attended by the national PC).

Buka beat sitting MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena twice in an election the latter claimed was rigged.

ZANU PF ordered that re-runs be conducted in only five constituencies yet the party had received complaints of voter malpractices from over 150 of the 210 constituencies across the country.

ZANU PF primaries were run by Forever Associate Zimbabwe (FAZ), controlled by the Central Intelligence Organisation and Heritage, which is linked to the army, according to a report by The Standard.

A ZANU PF internal document titled Talking Points dated 27 March 2023 revealed that FAZ, led by CIO deputy director-general Walter Tapfumaneyi had the major say in the elections.

Free Duty For Groceries

By-The Government has released the list of grocery items exempted from import duty.

On Friday, the Government suspended import duty and import value-added tax (VAT) on the following 10 basic grocery items:

Maize meal, rice, milk, flour, salt, cooking oil, petroleum jelly, toothpaste, bath soap and washing powder.

The suspension of the import duty and import VAT shall be valid for six months from 12 May 2023.
The Permanent Secretary for Finance and Economic Development George Guvamatanga has since directed Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) Commissioner General Regina Chinamasa, to “urgently draft the necessary legal instrument and implement the duty suspension with effect from 12 May 2023”. Wrote Guvamatanga:
Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is expected to complement the measure through the inclusion of the above goods on the Open General Import Licence.
The move is in line with the measures announced by Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube on Thursday.
Among other things, Ncube said retailers and wholesalers can now keep all the foreign currency they collect from customers.
The announcement came after shops hiked prices of basic food items in response to the rapid weakening of the Zimbabwe dollar against other currencies.
The removal of import duty on products can result in lower prices for consumers and improved access to goods.
However, removing import duty may also have some negative effects such as loss of government revenue, adverse effects on domestic industries, and dependency on foreign producers.
Meanwhile, in a statement on released on Friday, Buy Zimbabwe chairperson Munyaradzi Hwengwere said the Government’s decision to scrap import duty on basic grocery items will leave the local manufacturing industry vulnerable to cheap imports.
Buy Zimbabwe called for an emergency meeting with wholesalers and retailers to map a way forward.

Parly Blocks Gold Mafia Probe

By- The Parliament of Zimbabwe has blocked any debate on the Gold Mafia documentary, recently premiered by Al Jazeera.

This follows a proposal by the Public Accounts and the Budget, Finance, and Economic Development committees to investigate allegations.

In a memorandum addressed to the two parliamentary committees, Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda said Parliament should allow the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), the central bank and the Police to conduct the investigations.
He said in reaching the decision, he was guided by the South African Government’s decision to task specialised agencies with investigating the gold smuggling and money laundering allegations raised in the Gold Mafia documentary. Reads the memo:
I wish to state from the outset that the matter is serious and of national importance.
However, it is pertinent to note that the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and the RBZ have already started processes to investigate the matter.
In that vein, it would be improper for Parliament to embark on an inquiry on a matter that other arms of the State are investigating.
In addition, the matters are of a complex nature and may require extraterritorial visits due to the alleged involvement of foreign players.
In that regard, it is prudent to leave the investigations to specialised agencies like ZACC, and the Police are better placed to investigate matters.
Parliament will continue to monitor the investigations and will carry out its oversight role when the specialised agencies have completed their investigation.
In addition, the Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development conducted an inquiry into Illicit Financial flows in the Mining Sector in the course of last year.
In reaching this decision I have also been guided by the stance taken by the South African Government which has deferred to specialised agencies regarding the same issues.
“Gold Mafia” is a four-part investigation by Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit) which exposed gold smuggling gangs in Southern Africa.
The gangs help criminals launder hundreds of millions of dollars, getting rich themselves while plundering their nations.
They use gold to turn dirty cash into clean, seemingly legitimate money for those with large amounts of unaccounted wealth.
The gangs do so by using a complex web of companies, counterfeit identities and fake documents.

Uebert Angel In Hiding

By- Thieving and controversial preacher Uebert Angel — who fears arrest and persecution if he returns to Zimbabwe for exposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s role in Gold looting in Al Jazeera’s investigative Gold Mafia documentary, is now hiding in Britain.

Zanu PF Seke Infighting Intensifies-Mashonaland East Youth League Member’s House Petrol Bombed

By A Correspondent| The struggle for power in the aftermath of the Zanu PF primary elections in Seke District, Mashonaland East has intensified with factions aligned to both the winning and losing candidates now at each other’s throats.

According to a Zanu PF source in Mashonaland East, scores of party youths stormed a District Coordinating Committee meeting at the Seke Golf club along Masvingo road leading to fierce fist fights and several injuries.

DCC members had to flee for their lives.

Mashonaland East Police Law and Orde Section is already seized with the matter.

The youths from Nyatsime area were allegedly hired to beat up Neftery Mutizira, the Mashonaland East Youth Vice Chairperson.

Mutizira is seen as a young turk, trying to reinvigorate the party thereby stepping on the toes of some old guard who have lost primary elections and eager are to re-establish control.

The ZANU PF Political Commissar for the Province, Lincoln Matare was forced to call for an emergency meeting to build bridges.

The meeting was convened at Dema Growth point on the 13th of May 2023.

Present were Provincial members, Central Committee members and DCC members.

Matare warned party members against indiscipline and bringing the name of President Mnangangwa into disrepute.

He also warned against name dropping the President’s name.

Shockingly, that very night, the Dema home of the Youth Secretary for Business and Liaison for Mashonaland East Province, Prince Kandawasvika was allegedly petrol bombed around 2300hrs.

Interestingly, Kandawasvika called Neftery Mutizira to rush to his aid, but the latter realised his car tyres had been deflated by unknown people.

There seems to be a well-coordinated agenda to put fears in the Youth League so as to force them to resign or even eliminate them.

When contacted for comment, Kandawasvika said he believed there are members of ZANU PF eager to see him dead, in order to force a re-run or change of leadership structure at both district and Provincial level.

Dema police which attended the scene were not available for comment.

Seke District has in recent weeks become a hotbed of political indiscipline, land grabbing and associated violence by both losers and winners of primary elections.

In a related incident, the winning candidate for Ward 8 council primary elections, Kenny Kuora allegedly went on a rampage destroying houses he alleges were built on undesignated land triggering fierce fights between some ZANU PF youths.

Kenny Kuora who doubles as the headman denied the allegations.

As reported earlier by this publication, Chitungwiza Police had to arrest scores of ZANU PF land invaders in Chinhanga village.

They were later released under dubious circumstances.

Residents in Seke fear that if the party, government and law enforcement agents including the courts do not take a tough stance, the chaos will escalate.

Mnangagwa Hints On Election Dates

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that the 2023 general elections will be held in August.

He said this while addressing thousands of ZANU PF supporters who had come to witness the commissioning of the Rwenya Bridge which was swept away in 2013.

In his address, Mnangagwa said he is releasing a little bit of information.

“Let’s keep our heritage by voting for ZANU PF. Elections will be held in August, I am releasing a little bit of information,” said Mnangagwa.

Last month President Mnangagwa said he will announce the election date before the end of May.

Addressing the same gathering, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said the 2023 harmonised elections will take place as scheduled.

“This election is coming. It is not reversible. We ought to hold these elections in a peaceful environment.

“This is our country. We do not know of any other country other than Zimbabwe.

“Elections come and go but our relations will remain so we do not want political violence.

“My message is I will vote for President Mnangagwa. Who are you going to vote for?

“We should vote for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF MPs and councillors.

“Here in Mudzi, you should vote for Cde Jonathan Samkange as our Member of Parliament in Mudzi South,” said Chiwenga.

The general elections must be held between 26 July and 26 August, to comply with Constitutional regulations that the election must come not more than 30 days after the expiry period of the current Parliament.

Current laws also stipulate that a proclamation can only be made 44-88 days before the election date.

Gold Mafia Criminals Must Face The Law Or The People

By Stephen Sarkozy Chuma| Gold smuggling and money laundering criminals fingered in Al Jazeera documentary, Gold Mafia must have their day in court.

Could it be that the involvement of Number 1 (Emmerson Mnangagwa) in the scandal makes ZRP boss Godwin Matanga to develop cold feet?Is it now a case of who will bell the cat? But of course, we, the people can bell the cat! Mnangagwa knows the power of the people very well.

Remember his “the voice of people is the voice of the God” statement after millions marched in support of removal of Robert Mugabe in 2017.

Another march this time against criminals looting our national cake with foreigners is surely necessary and needed. If the police do not arrest Gold Mafia criminals, we, the citizens must effect citizens arrest. We cannot allow the Gold Mafia issue to die a natural death. Never!

Opposition Members Attacked By Suspected Zanu PF Thugs During A Citizen Engagement Rally

Opposition United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) has said its members were recently attacked by suspected Zanu-PF members while it was conducting a citizen engagement exercise in Chitungwiza North.

In a statement the opposition party which is led by presidential candidate Elisabeth Valerio said it has since engaged the police.

“Members of the United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) were violently abducted in Chitungwiza North on 11 May 2023 by suspected ZANU-PF thugs. Our party members, who were peacefully engaging citizens ahead of the elections, were attacked and injured,” the party said in a statement.

It further alleged that the suspects were driving a black Honda fit, before attacking UZA leaders using weapons.

“The ear of one of our party members was cut with pliers. The victims have since filed a police report at Harare Central Police Station. We hope that the culprits will be brought to book and will face the full weight of the law.

“The suspected ZANU-PF members, one of whom is said to be an aspiring MP candidate, attempted to abduct our team of five members. The culprits hijacked our party vehicle and drove our members an estimated 11km out of Chitungwiza in an abduction attempt. They also robbed our members of their cash, cell phones, and other personal items,” the party fumed.

UZA said its party’s Harare provincial youth leader had to receive stitches due to injuries sustained during the attack.

“All five of our members sought medical care and counseling following the attack. As UZA, we stand in solidarity with our party members and will not be deterred by such acts of violence. This is an affront to democracy and the principles of peaceful and free campaigning. We call upon all political parties to condemn such violent acts and to ensure that peaceful and fair elections are upheld. Violence has no place in a democratic society. UZA urges everyone to exercise restraint and uphold the principles of a politically plural society in which all political parties are entitled to carry out peaceful election campaigns,” the party said.

Zim Ace Signs New Contract With EPL Giant

England-born Zimbabwean teen ace Isaac Mabaya appears to be edging closer towards a first-team breakthrough at Liverpool after signing a new contract English Premier League giants.

Mabaya, who was born in Preston to Zimbabwean parents was among the young standouts during pre-season last year, making four appearances throughout Liverpool’s season matches.

The 18-year-old academy player was deployed at right-back, but is also capable of excelling in midfield, and earned his first call-up to the England under-19s in September.

However, a long-term ankle injury has ruled Mabaya out since October, derailing his promising form with Liverpool under-21s and any further senior exposure.

However, Liverpool have signaled their faith in the highly-rated youngster, who has signed a new long-term contract.

Liverpool confirmed the news on Saturday, following similar extensions for both Luke Chambers and Jarell Quansah earlier this month.

“Isaac Mabaya has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC. The versatile Academy prospect caught the eye during a number of appearances with Jürgen Klopp’s first team in last summer’s pre-season schedule, where he was involved during the Asia tour and training camp in Austria,” Liverpool said in a statement.

“He was employed mostly as an attacking option from right-back, although he can also play in midfield. The 18-year-old first joined the Academy at the age of six and broke into the U18 team when he was 16. He has been working hard to return from a frustrating early-season injury that curtailed his progress this term and is now ready to resume his upward curve with the Reds,” the club added.

Mabaya made seven appearances for the U21s and three for the under-19s prior to his injury.

After about 40 meters, the grandmother heard a cry of a newborn baby from a place where she left Tembo but she did not manage to come back instead she continued with the journey of calling her Ema Fudza who is her young sister to help her to assist Tembo.

The two came back on a bid to assist Tembo but she was no longer there only seen was a pool of blood which shows that Tembo gave birth. Emma Fudza started following traces of blood drops for about 100 meter but she did not see Tembo not the baby. She then decided to come back and sleep.

On the same date around 0600hrs, Emma Fudza proceeded to Tembo’s homestead to see if she arrived home safe with the baby but upon arrival she saw Tembo’s mother Scrudzai Tembo who confirmed that Tembo was no home yet.

The two looked for Tembo and saw her at homestead but without the baby, Tembo was asked where she put the baby but she refused ever given birth to any baby.
