Notorious Magistrate Refuses To Recuse Self Against Joana, Cecilia

By A Correspondent | The CCC party duo, Joana Mamombe and Cecillia Chimbiri apeeared in Court 14 on Wednesday at Rotten Row. The Defense Counsel filed an Application for the Recusal of the Presiding Magistrate, Faith Mushure. The outline emanates from the jurist’s ‘biased attitude and Conflict of interest against the Accused’s Rights as prescribed in Chapter 4 Section 69 of our Constitution.’

The accused’s Defense Counsel in no uncertain described and explicitly expressed the conflict of interest, prejudice, bias and the complete disregard of sections 68 snd 69 under chapter 4. The violation of Rights is on Record and as herein mentioned is biased.

Therefore if a judicial Officer is not biased, should just Recuse self. There is no need for antagonism and refusal to recuse oneself for non-partisan and fair justice.

The current magistrate, has fast-tracked the trial case under protest from the accused persons in an unconstitutional manner without lawyers being given copies of trial records.

Mamombe and Chimbiri, in their application for Mrs Mushure’s recusal, said the court ruled against them and allowed the State to call back a witness, who was used to tender into the record exhibit documents that they had objected to.

The duo also said that they have filed five applications in the High Court where Mrs Mushure is a respondent rendering her ineligible to continue presiding over their matter.

The State led by Mr Michael Reza opposed the application saying it was not guided by any provisions of the law.

Mr Reza said the two were suing the application as one of their many ways to stall trial progress.

“He (Muchadehama) never stated the law in which he’s making the application. Every application must be guided by sections or provisions of a statute. He said he is applying for your recusal based on no law and for no reason at all. However, the reason for this application is to further delay this trial.

It has happened before and even if this court recuses itself, the next judicial officers would be asked to recuse themselves. They raised a point that the duo’s rights are being abused. If there’s a person or persons infringing on their rights, it is not this court nor the State, but the accused persons themselves.

“This trial has been fair but has not been speedy and has not been heard in reasonable time because of them. It has been application after application,” he said.

Mr Reza told the court that Mamombe and Chimbiri knew very well that their applications lack merit, but they continue making them for purposes of delaying trial proceedings. Additional reporting state media

Government Agents Abduct CCC Member

Tinashe Sambiri|Suspected government agents abducted a member of President Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens’ Coalition For Change.

This happened less than 48 hours after President Chamisa’s visit to Masvingo.

Government agents are desperate to counter President Chamisa’s activities across the country.

On Tuesday morning, CCC’s Denford Ngadziore wrote on Twitter:

“Alert alert! Am receiving disturbing report this hour 0200hrs that our change champion SG Gwarazimba for Masvingo West has been forcibly abducted at his home by a group of unknown people.
Lets make noice about it.”

In a statement Media Centre Masvingo said:

“CCC interim SG for Msv West Denson Gwarazimba allegedly adbucted by unknown assailants suspected at around 2am at his Village 12 homestead in Mushandike area.

His abduction comes after a visit by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa in Msv town over the weekend.”

Zimbabwe Quickly Sells USD4Billion Lithium Mine To Chinese for Paltry USD5,000

By Baba Jukwa | This Paul Chimbodza is my very long time friend and he had during the GNU  even approached Morgan Tsvangirai about this deal: but unfortunately the trade unionist was not interested in business. He told his family, “vazukuru ngatimbobvisa Mugabe then we talk about this later.”

FULL TEXT | FOWARDED ANALYSIS

This is how dumb we are.

Baba Jukwa

“ So now, back to the story: 2 Zimbabweans, Professsor Kingston Kajese and Paul Chimbodza get a lithium claim. They, in turn, sell 87% of the claim to an Australian company (Prospect Resources). So far, no mining is done .
The Australian company then sells the lithium mine to a Chinese firm.
The Chinese mine, Huayou pays $422 million for the mine. Of the $422 million, $388 goes to the Australian mine and $44 million shared between Chimbodza and Kajese. Someone at the top approves the deal.

Baba Jukwa

In one move, Zimbabwe has just sold one of the most strategic minerals to the Chinese with no gain for the country ( Australia gains USD388 million while 2 Zimbabweans get USD44 million). All the Zimbabwean public through the government get is no more than USD5,000, being licensing and other fees.
Now, here is why, as a country, we are stupid. The future is electric cars and solar energy, both of which require lithium.
The price of lithium is now USD17 000 per tonne.

The Chinese mine has said it intends to mine 2.4 million tonnes a year . This translates to USD 4.1 billion a year or USD342 million a month .
Remember they bought the mine for $422 million. Within 1 month, the Chinese would have returned what they paid.

So why did our government allow such a stupid deal when in Zimbabwe we have to import lithium batteries from South Africa?

Why could our government not see the same potential the Chinese saw?
Instead, we could have easily partnered with Tesla to mine the lithium and manufacture lithium batteries in Zimbabwe while partnering local companies such as Exide.
Kajese and Chimbodza are the only 2 Zimbabweans to benefit from this.
Most of the employment generated will go to Chinese nationals. We will be left only with a destroyed and polluted environment.

How can we be so stupid as a nation? How could someone at the top endorse such a strategic mineral”

CCC Namibia Statement On Brutal Murder Of Elvis Nyathi

Zimbabweans must act on degrading treatment!

CCC Namibia demands justice to Elvis Nyathi!

11 April 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia absolutely condemns the segregatory, discriminatory, brutal and inhumane treatment of foreign nationals in the neighbouring South Africa especially the desperate Zimbabweans who have become a laughing stock across the globe. The recent ruthless human butchery of a victim of ZanuPF gross misgovernance, Elvis Nyathi was exhibited on Wednesday night the 6th April 2022 in Diepsloot, South Africa. It was quite astonishing and infuriating to witness a fellow campatriot brutally attacked and set alight by a mob led by Nhlanhla Lux for not having a passport in his possession. Where is our Pan-African mentality? Black versus Black?
We need to have one love in Africa, fumed Rundu Branch Spokesperson Robson Ruhanya.

Yellow revolutionaries in Namibia are appealing to the world to assist them at home so that the sunken country will be liberated from ZanuPF Satanists. Citizens Coalition Change bears the responsibility to liberate us from these social and economic upheavals. We demand that SADC, African Union, European Union and United Nations should give Zimbabweans their long awaited solidarity against peaceful slavery. The whole world is cognisant that Zimbabweans are have become double sufferers from both ZanuPF thugocrats and Xenophobic attackers in South Africa. It has been 22 years of suffering in motherland under Zanupf oppression. We plead to the international community to serve us from the jaws of xenophobia and state sponsored violence on the citizens.

In addition to that, the South African government should know that Zimbabwe needs solidarity as an answer to these socio-economic challenges. Zimbabweans are mushrooming everywhere because they are escaping from artificial poverty brewed by the stomach politicians in ZanuPF. “For how long does the world have to comfortably sit and watch while South Africans carry such gruesome, barbaric and satanic attacks on foreign internationals?”, fumed the Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia Secretary General Simbarashe Ndoda.

Furthermore, the organiser Lawrence Chiduku made it very clear that it is now imperative for all Zimbabweans in the diaspora to start fighting for the betterment of the motherland especially with 2023 historic harmonised elections around the corner. He went on to urge all Zimbabweans in the diaspora to register to vote, vote for change in 2023 and defend the vote from serial election fraudsters. The executive meeting undertaken by Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia Rundu Branch on Saturday made it very clear that Zimbabweans at home and abroad must come together as citizens to act against corruption in Zimbabwe which is the major cause of the brain.

Moreover, Zimbabweans in the diaspora must register to vote in Zimbabwe whilst fighting for the diaspora vote which is likely to be resisted by those who still don’t believe in the change that delivers. “For how long shall Zimbabweans continue to be victims both home and abroad?”, Secretary General Simbarashe Ndoda continued to pose revolutionary questions to the citizens who still have hope in ZanuPF shenanigans. Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia absolutely condemns this level of suffering and torture to innocent citizens abroad and at home.

Zimbabweans are urged to embrace dangerous freedom against peaceful slavery! In 2023, citizens should make sure that they vote for complete change under the astute leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia believes that CCC is the only panacea to socio-economic transfiguration. In A New Great Zimbabwe, our citizens should go back to a peaceful and progressive country under the new God-fearing government led by none other than President Pastor Nelson Chamisa.

We demand justice to Elvis Nyathi! We demand justice to Mboneni Ncube who was butchered in cold blood in Kwekwe by ZanuPF thugs using machetes, bows and arrows! Zimbabwean lives matter! Watch out South Africa! Thanks to EFF President Julius Malema for the solidarity displayed against this barbarism. These are crimes against humanity! We demand justice! Perpetrators must be brought to book.

Zimbabweans In South Africa Targeted

By Dr Masimba Mavaza| South Africa is not a virgin to Xenophobic attacks. And South Africans are not all after foreigners. There is a large chunk of good South Africans who cannot stand the barbaric attack against Zimbabweans. Some South Africans are demon possessed. violence in South Africa existed before the end of the apartheid in 1994 and there lacks evidence that it will end anytime soon. In view of the effects of xenophobic violence on foreigners in South Africa. It is true that what regularly happens in South Africa is a reflection of the challenges inherent in African countries, but the South Africans have exhibited a great hatred of their neighbour Zimbabwe. While South Africa has become ‘notorious’ for ‘failing to curb attacks on foreigners working and living in its country, this notion neglects the bigger picture. It is true that South Africa must do more to protect desperate people migrating from their native countries. But the crux of the matter is grounded on why South Africa is a favourite destination for many.

Overall, the South African leaders have failed to deliver on their promise of a peaceful and prosperous South Africa thus migration levels continue to soar as people naively search for greener pastures and security.
As usual the grass looks greener in another area.

South Africans barbaric behaviour rendered apartheid visible, helping to make the world aware of it and to spur resistance. Africa looks at South Africa to solve the plight of often persecuted migrants in South Africa, where they are blamed for social and economic ills.

For some strange reasons the Zimbabweans have become the most targeted migrants in South Africa.

There are many Zimbabweans in South Africa whose stories are told and others whose are obscured? Targets of xenophobia are subjected to the violence of estrangement. Xenos: the stranger, the outsider, the “alien”. To be called xenos, to be made xenos, is to be categorised as illegitimate – to be pushed beyond the bounds, beyond citizenship, beyond moral concern. Many foreigners are called illegal immigrants even if they are well documented.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

Many Zimbabweans have been killed simply for being Zimbabweans.
Many people try to blame their country for not lifting a finger in this situation. We do have an embassy in South Africa but the
Embassies are locations in foreign countries where diplomats are based. They help citizens seeking to communicate with their home country and local nationals who wish to travel to the country the embassy represents. We again have a consulate in Cape Town. Consulates are branch offices of an embassy. It is not the duty if an embassy to protect or repatriate nationals. The embassy is open for assistance but we can not blame the embassy for not protecting its nationals. No person abroad is completely immune from unexpected and sometimes unfortunate events. So, if you find yourself in an emergency or life changing event, getting to know your home country’s embassy while abroad in the foreign country can help ease some of your worries. The embassy does not keep a list of its nationals who are in the foreign land it is the duty of an individual to contact his embassy.
On September 9 2019 at
Tsolo Community Hall in Johannesburg’s Katlehong township, around 250 people, were hosted after being displaced by anti-foreigner violence that hit South Africa’s financial capital. This violence did not stop. What we see is institutionalised xenophobic attacks. Violence targeted at foreign nationals and their properties in South Africa has left hundreds of them displaced from their homes. Nearly 200 of them, including children, were housed at the Tsolo community hall, in Katlehong Township in the city of Ekurhuleni east of Johannesburg. The embassy sent its staff to monitor the situation. As long as the host country is acting according to their law the embassy can not interfere in a lawful action of its host.
Where the action is unlawful the embassy can only contact the host and present a complaint and appeal for the law to be followed..
Zimbabweans are struggling to accept that they are now destitute and have to depend on the mercy of well-wishers.
The pain of seeing your child or husband roasting in the flames with cheering South Africans pouring more petrol is not bearable.
The actions of these South Africans is caused by lack of action by their leaders. They come to justify enactments of violence against bodies that are present, that are real, that are living, but do not belong.
A Zimbabwean fights the flames engulfing a shack in Ramaphosa who finally found his voice and condemned the behaviour of the thugs running the Dudula project. Tens of thousands of Zimbabweans have been displaced, their shops looted and burnt down in the weeks of violence that swept the country without a word feom senior official from ANC.
South Africa has experienced brutal cycles of xenophobic violence. These have led to horrific murders, and to displacement of thousands of cross-border migrants, mostly from our own continent, Africa. Worse, they have led to fear and suspicion and terror. They have torn at the cloth of our constitutional inclusiveness, shredding and tattering it.
The most recent wave began in late January There is a resurgence of anti-migrant protests, looting of foreign businesses and assaults: bodies stoned, beaten, burned and killed. Children orphaned women widowed and raped all this os aimed at Zimbabweans. He rejects what he calls lame excuses given by the locals for chasing them away.
Mathew Ncube a Zimbabwean victim of the Xenophobic attacks said “They came to us and they said, we don’t want Zimbabweans here because you cause problems as foreigners. You are committing crimes and taking our women. They said, you took our wives. You took our jobs and you do nothing here.” Ncube feels trapped because he can mot go home now. His business has been destroyed.
Many Zimbabweans are living in fear. Once they see locals gathering in the streets ready to attack those who are Zimbabweans they run leaving behind all they have worked for.
They will observe from a distance as their property is looted. John Banda a Zimbabwean said “the trauma he experienced on the night he escaped the angry residents will haunt him for life.
Another Zimbabwean woman said “I’m a married woman. So, I had to carry my baby, in my hand to run away during the night around two o’clock mid-night because it was just like we are in a war zone.”
Others weren’t able to escape. Gabriel Ziwewera from Zimbabwe was cornered by the locals while trying to run away. He was beaten to a pulp and left for dead with all bones broken. He could only utter one word which came out of the swollen lips bandaged head. He only managed to say WHY? He repeated this several times. “It’s better I rather die in my country than dying in your South Africa country like if I’m crazy. I’m not crazy. I’m not happy the way South Africa is treating us. They are treating us bad. I lost my cars. I lost my shop, even my equipment. I lost everything.” Matemba Kida said.
The South African government has condemned the attacks and vowed to bring them to an end. Few have been arrested. However, for most of these foreign nationals, this is too little too late.
The government is “dragging its feet” over xenophobic attacks and is failing to make it a priority,
In this situation the de ministers should come up with a “coherent strategy” to combat xenophobia. tackling xenophobia should be a “top priority” It is surprising that there is no planning to see what more could be done to eradicate racial and social inequality.
“There are lots of people from Zimbabwe who need supporting and for that reason a coherent xenophobic strategy is a top priority and the South African government must act urgently.
South African government is dragging its feet.
They seek to understand it xenophobia but are they taking action and is this a top priority?
“We can not keep quiet any longer. South African government must take this case seriously.
Zimbabweans must be careful we only live once in this world.
As a nation we will never forget what these thugs are doing. Our country is getting better.

The blood of those being killed for nothing will not dry until it is avenged.

Why Zimbabwe Voted NO To Expelling Russia from UN

By Patrick Guramatunhu | On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. The world has witnessed yet another horror story of death and destruction, the barbarism and inhumanity man.
Last week the United Nations (UN) General Assembly voted on resolution expressing “grave concern at the ongoing human rights and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine”. The resolution to expel Russia from the UN Human Rights Council and it passed with 93 YES, 24 NO and 58 abstentions. This was the first time ever in the UN’s history that a member nation has been expelled from one of the UN organs.
Some people would have wanted Russia expelled from UN body altogether. This would have required a unanimous YES vote by the Security Council; impossible in this case since Russia is one of the five permanent members who wield a veto.
Zimbabwe was one of the 24 nations that voted NO.
“In his first public comments over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said it (invasion) was a “robust” response by President Vladmir Putin to “provocation” by NATO, a military alliance of 30 countries including the United States and Britain,” commented Zimlive in Bulawayo 24.

“Our activities in the past two months, and going forward, should be understood from that broad, regional, continental and global perspective,” quoting President Mnangagwa.
“Zimbabwe, itself already a victim of western unilateralism, is in the full glare of all these global headwinds. Against NATO’s provocative eastward expansion in Europe, and the Russian Federation’s robust response to that threat of encirclement by NATO, a new situation has arisen which requires that we re-map the world with a view to finding our own place and securing our interests.

“Like in the case of Zimbabwe which has endured more than two decades of illegal sanctions, the conflict raging in Eastern Europe has made many nations realise how powerful nations and global interests still function on old and archaic notions of ‘spheres of influence’, and that they will not hesitate to use unilateral economic coercion to bully independent-minded states unwilling to kowtow to their whims and interests.”
What is Mnangagwa wittering about? It is Russia, not NATO and the West, which is “still functioning on old and archaic notions of spheres of influence”!
The economic and political of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) in 1989 marked the end Warsaw Treaty Organization (Warsaw Pact) as all the countries is Eastern Europe left in droves and abandoned the socialist system of government in favour of the Western Europe democratic system. USSR itself broke up as many groupings/regions demanded independence from Moscow.
Ukraine is one former USSR republics that broke away and has since abandoned socialism in favour of democracy and capitalism. It is the people of Ukraine who have been sorting closer ties with the West, they have already expressed interest in joining the European (economic and political) Union (EU) and then to join NATO (military alliance).
President Putin has objected to Ukraine, an independence and sovereign nation, joining NATO and is the one using brute force, bombing whole cities in Ukraine killing defenceless civilians, women and children.
President Mnangagwa did not condemn the murderous barbarism Russia in inflicting on the people of Ukraine because he got the wrong end of the story. He is supporting President Putin’s contemptuous disregard of rule of law and the freedoms and rights of Ukrainians to decide their own future and even the right to life because Mnangagwa too has no respect for rule of law and the freedoms and rights of others.
Ever since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980, President Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies have waged a war of attrition on the people in their resolve to retain absolute political power at all costs. The regime has murdered over 30 000 Zimbabweans for political gain in its 42 years reign of terror.
“Like in the case of Zimbabwe which has endured more than two decades of illegal sanctions!” The sanctions were imposed on a select few Zanu PF leaders for the regime’s repeated failure to hold free and fair elections and many other human rights violations.
The country is gearing for the 2023 national elections and there is already evidence of blatant vote rigging, of voters being frog marched to attend Zanu PF rallies and of wanton violence including beating and cold-blooded murder of political opponents.
Zanu PF is set to blatantly rig the 2023 elections. And, sadly for the country, the corrupt and incompetent opposition will participate in the flawed and illegal elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.
The Western countries have imposed wide ranging economic sanctions of Russia and President Putin. It is time the West upgraded the sanctions imposed on Zanu PF leaders and add the sell-out opposition leaders to the list. The economic and political situation in Zimbabwe has reached crisis point, the nation is desperate for meaningful political change, for free and fair elections.
It is no surprise that Zimbabwe was one of the 24 nation who voted NO to the resolution to expel Russia from the UN Human Rights Council. President Mnangagwa and President Putin have many things in common including their contempt for rule of law, freedom and human rights including the right to life!- zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

About Air Quality

Almost the entire global population (99%) breathes air that exceeds WHO air quality limits, and threatens their health.

A record number of over 6000 cities in 117 countries are now monitoring air quality, but the people living in them are still breathing unhealthy levels of fine particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide, with people in low and middle-income countries suffering the highest exposures.

The findings have prompted the World Health Organization to highlight the importance of curbing fossil fuel use and taking other tangible steps to reduce air pollution levels.

Released in the lead-up to World Health Day, which this year celebrates the theme Our planet, our health, the 2022 update of the World Health Organization’s air quality database introduces, for the first time, ground measurements of annual mean concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a common urban pollutant and precursor of particulate matter and ozone. It also includes measurements of particulate matter with diameters equal or smaller than 10 μm (PM10) or 2.5 μm (PM2.5).

Both groups of pollutants originate mainly from human activities related to fossil fuel combustion.

The new air quality database is the most extensive yet in its coverage of air pollution exposure on the ground.

Some 2,000 more cities/human settlements are now recording ground monitoring data for particulate matter – PM10 and/or PM2.5 – than the last update. This marks an almost 6-fold rise in reporting since the database was launched in 2011.

Meanwhile, the evidence base for the damage air pollution does to the human body has been growing rapidly and points to significant harm caused by even low levels of many air pollutants.

Particulate matter, especially PM2.5, is capable of penetrating deep into the lungs and entering the bloodstream, causing cardiovascular, cerebrovascular (stroke) and respiratory impacts.

There is emerging evidence that particulate matter impacts other organs and causes other diseases as well.

NO2 is associated with respiratory diseases, particularly asthma, leading to respiratory symptoms (such as coughing, wheezing or difficulty breathing), hospital admissions and visits to emergency rooms

WHO last year revised its Air Quality Guidelines, making them more stringent in an effort to help countries better evaluate the healthiness of their own air.

“Current energy concerns highlight the importance of speeding up the transition to cleaner, healthier energy systems,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “High fossil fuel prices, energy security, and the urgency of addressing the twin health challenges of air pollution and climate change, underscore the pressing need to move faster towards a world that is much less dependent on fossil fuels.”

Steps governments can take to improve air quality and health
A number of governments are taking steps to improve air quality, but WHO is calling for a rapid intensification of actions to:

adopt or revise and implement national air quality standards according to the latest

WHO Air Quality Guidelines;
monitor air quality and identify sources of air pollution;
support the transition to exclusive use of clean household energy for cooking, heating and lighting;
build safe and affordable public transport systems and pedestrian- and cycle-friendly networks;
implement stricter vehicle emissions and efficiency standards; and enforce mandatory inspection and maintenance for vehicles;
invest in energy-efficient housing and power generation;
improve industry and municipal waste management;
reduce agricultural waste incineration, forest fires and certain agro-forestry activities (e.g. charcoal production); and
include air pollution in curricula for health professionals and providing tools for the health sector to engage.

WHO’s Air Quality Guidelines

The evidence base for the harm caused by air pollution has been growing rapidly and points to significant harm caused by even low levels of many air pollutants. Last year, the WHO responded by revising its Air Quality Guidelines to reflect the evidence, making them more stringent, especially for PM and NO2, a move strongly supported by the health community, medical associations and patient organizations.

The 2022 database aims to monitor the state of the world’s air and feeds into progress tracking of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Man Fatally Stabs Friend Over Woman

Police in Shurugwi have launched a manhunt for one Hardlife Mudzingwa who allegedly fatally stabbed his friend following a misunderstanding over a woman.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Mudzingwa stabbed Blessing Mxotshwa who was his friend after he discovered that they were dating the same woman. Said Insp Mahoko:

Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of murder where a man was stabbed to death over a girlfriend in Shurugwi.

Hardlife Mudzingwa, aged 30, and Blessing Mxotshwa, aged 30, of Village 14 Tokwe 3 Valley, Shurugwi, were friends.

Hardlife, the suspect, in this case, discovered that they were in love with the same woman, aged 24.

Insp Mahoko said on Friday last week at around 7.50 PM, Mudzingwa allegedly visited his girlfriend at her home and she refused to open the door for him. Added Insp Mahoko:

This did not go down well with the suspect who forcibly gained entry, through a broken dining room window, and discovered that she was with Blessing Mxotshwa.

An argument arose between the suspect and Blessing Mxotshwa.

The suspect produced a knife and stabbed Blessing Mxotshwa once in the neck and fled the scene. – H- Metro

Chebundo Sells Mnangagwa Dummy

By- Former MDC-T legislator Blessing Chebundo has reportedly lost respect among President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s supporters in Kwekwe after the ZANU PF candidates for Kwekwe Central (John Mapurazi) and Mbizo (Vongai Mupereri) were defeated by CCC candidates in the 26 March by-elections.

Chebundo had promised Mnangagwa that he will use his vast influence in former MDC structures to deliver the two urban seats to ZANU PF.

ZANU PF lost to Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo) and Judith Tobaiwa (Kwekwe Central) despite Chebundo’s promises to the ruling party. Speaking in an interview before the by-elections, Chebundo said:

Over 1 000 people defected from the opposition to join ZANU PF in Kwekwe. It is because these people had seen that ZANU PF is the only party that is going to take us to Canaan.

There is no way the opposition is going to win Mbizo and Kwekwe, I declare that I am taking Kwekwe Central to its rightful owners, which is ZANU PF.

I have no doubt that ZANU PF has what it takes and has a chance to win both Kwekwe Central and Mbizo.

I am going to work and make sure that we achieve what we target, to have those two seats going back to ZANU PF.

It’s the confidence that is making me say that and also looking at the kind of individuals fielded by the opposition and when I assess them l don’t see that they have the stamina to defeat ZANU PF.

Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya (CCC) said Chebundo has no influence within the opposition party.

He said Chebundo is seeking protection from ZANU PF officials after he broke the law.

Corrupt Mnangagwa Ally Buys George Shaya A House

By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s business front man Kuda Tagwireyi has officially handed over a house to Agnes Shaya, the wife of the late Dynamos football legend George Shaya.

Tangwirei made the promise to give a house to Shaya’s widow in September last year, a month after the death of the football legend.

Tagwirei officially handed over the house in his capacity Sakunda Holdings’ chief executive officer.

He handed over the house to Shaya’s widow Agnes this Tuesday.

The house is located in the gated community of Madokero Estates west of Harare’s central business district.

Sakunda Holdings had asked Agnes to select a house with a value of US$120 000 but she chose the three-bedroomed house worth US$100 000.

She decided to deduct some of the money towards conveyance fees, and water and electricity systems.

Tagwirei said he decided to honour Shaya in appreciation of the part he played in developing football in the country.

He also gave Agnes an open cheque to buy furniture of her choice for the house.

Meanwhile, Sakunda Holdings has also honoured other football legends Moses Chunga (Dynamos) and Madinda Ndlovu (Highlanders).

Chunga and Ndlovu were each given houses worth US$90 000 by the same company.

Chamisa Promises Honey & Milk After 2023

By- CCC President Nelson Chamisa has promised a good living for all citizens, should he win the next year’s elections.

Posting on his Twitter page Tuesday, Chamisa said he had solutions to the two decades-long economic and social turmoil Zimbabwe is experiencing.

“We are ready! We will deliver Transformation, Dignity, Opportunity & Prosperity. I feel it. I know it and I sense it. A New Great Zimbabwe is loading…Fellow Citizens,#RegisterToVoteZW,” posted Chamisa.

Chamisa Launches Special Rural Mobilisation Programme

By- The Nelson Chamisa led CCC has embarked on a nationwide rural mobilisation exercise code-named Mugwazo, as the newly-formed party tries to make inroads in areas considered Zanu PF strongholds.

In an interview with NewsDay on Monday, CCC interim secretary for rural mobilisation, Happymore Chidziva, said senior party leaders have been to Murewa, Mutoko and Uzumba in Mashonaland East Province. Said Chidziva:

We have launched a massive recruitment and mobilisation exercise called Mugwazo. We are meeting ordinary citizens in rural areas.

This is a nationwide programme where we are mobilising people to register to vote and recruiting them to the CCC party.

We are targeting every district in Zimbabwe. Right now, I am in Hwedza together with leaders from Mashonaland East, Charlton Hwende (interim CCC secretary-general) and Murisi Zwizai (Harare Central MP).

We have been distributing fliers. Chamisa has highlighted the need to amplify the CCC rural strategy and stressed that CCC’s major thrust would be to grow the rural vote, with an immediate inundation strategy of rural areas to mobilise youths to register to vote.

ZANU PF thrives on intimidation and instils fear in rural folks. The party has been winning elections through coercion.

We are telling rural folks that their vote is a secret and if they really want their lives to be improved, they should join CCC.

Meanwhile, ZANU PF director for information Tafadzwa Mugwadi said the ruling party is not bothered by what opposition political parties do. Said Mugwadi:

We are not going to lose sleep over what MDC or CCC does. We are the governing party. Our focus is on winning the elections in 2023.

Our focus is to fulfil the promises we made to our people. Our focus is to improve the lives of ordinary people in Zimbabwe.

40 People Perish In KZN Floods

By- At least 40 people (20) are reported dead and scores are missing following heavy rains and flooding in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province.

This was confirmed by Kwazulu Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, this afternoon.

He said police had not yet reached some areas and therefore the number of casualties may rise as the day progresses.

He urged residents to stay indoors and avoid crossing flooded bridges if they need to leave home.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecasted more rainfall for most of Tuesday. SAWS said in a notice:

A Cut-Off Low-pressure system is situated over the eastern parts of the country and a surface low is to the east along the KZN coast, advecting low-level moisture and resulting in scattered showers and rain over the south-eastern parts of KZN tomorrow (today).

Significant amounts of rainfall have already been received in most places along the south coast and more rain is still expected to fall tonight and tomorrow.

The soil is already saturated and some drainage systems are already full, so widespread flooding can be expected to continue tonight into tomorrow over the south-eastern parts of KZN.

Bad Weather Crashes Mai TT Chopper

By- The helicopter that crashed after flying comedienne Mai TT, real name Felistas Murata, to her wedding venue in Harare on Saturday, could have been affected by bad weather.

The accident claimed the pilot who has since been identified as Captain Peter Chirimuuta.

The helicopter crashed in Mhondoro while Captain Chirimuuta was flying back to Harare from Kwekwe.

Captain Chirimuuta worked for Chikopokopo Helicopters. He was alone at the time of the incident.

Zivanai Chakwenya, one of the engineers of the helicopter who had worked together in Captain Chirimuuta’s other weekend flights, said the crash could have been caused by bad weather.

The client, which the helicopter had gone to pick up in Kwekwe on the ill-fated return flight, is said to have decided to come to Harare by road. Said Chakwenya:

I am yet to believe the death of my workmate and friend.

The crash could have been caused by bad weather considering that the helicopter crashed away from the intended route.

Flying from Kwekwe could not lead to a crash on the Mhondoro side but bad weather could have forced him to keep the safest route.

We spent the better part of Saturday together when he dropped Mai TT at her wedding held in Chisipite.

From there, we took another client to Macheke, where we had fun with our client.

His trip to Kwekwe is the only one I did not accompany him and, hey, I have been badly affected considering that he was still young and was expecting to join his family in Hwedza for the Easter Holidays.

A Chikopokopo Helicopters official, only identified as Lloyd, told H-Metro that investigations to establish the cause of the crash have commenced. He said:

We are yet to receive information on what exactly happened.

Captain Chirimuuta had gone to pick up our client but the client changed his mind and he returned alone.

The Civil Aviation team and the police have since begun investigating the cause of the crash and details will be released.

Mourners are gathered at Chirimuuta’s home in Glen View 7.

Captain Chirimuuta is survived by his wife and two children.

Zim Political Environment Remains Hostile To The Opposition

By Josephine Jombe| We are about a year or so away from the 2023 General Election, and there is an atmosphere of hope that we are on the cusp of history being made in Zimbabwe. The recent by-election success for the Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa and the positive response to the ongoing mass campaign to get people to register to vote show that things are moving in the right direction.

However, despite the positivity in the Zimbabwean public, there is hard to ignore evidence that the political environment remains hostile to the opposition. It seems everywhere the CCC goes to campaign, they are faced with intimidation and hostilities from the police and a range of other agent provocateurs.

Madzibaba veShanduko in hospital after being assaulted while in police custody

While campaigning for the by elections, CCC supporters were attacked at a rally in Kwekwe by ZanuPF supporters who came disguised wearing CCC regalia. This attack resulted in the death of Mboneni Ncube, a CCC supporter. It has been reported that at least 37 CCC supporters were arrested just for campaigning for the party.

The CCC party were also banned from campaigning in Marondera and Gokwe. There are numerous other examples of the state using police and faceless agents of chaos taking the law in their hands and attacking CCC supporters dressed in yellow. It seems the colour yellow has become a red rag to a bull for these people.

No matter how pathetic these people are i.e ZRP and the dollar for hire hooligans, they represent an intention by Zanu to make it has hard as possible for the CCC to compete in the election next year; an intention to frustrate CCC supporters and the public at large; an intention to hold on to power.

We as a people need to continue drawing attention to this hostile environment and intimidation of opposition members and supporters.

The eyes of the world need to see this. The political environment is more hostile now than it was going into the 2018 general election.

Mapeza Bemoans Dearth Of Quality In Zim Football

Norman Mapeza has bemoaned the diminishing standards of local football and bled club owners for steering the rot.

The FC Platinum coach made the claims after watching his youthful side dispatch Bulawayo City 2-0 in a league match at the weekend.

“I have to be honest, the quality of football has gone down massively,” he was quoted as saying by NewsDay.

“Of course, there are teams that have been winning, but their performances … most teams in the league can’t play three, four or five passes. It’s just two passes, ball forward, two touches and then ball forward.”

Mapeza believes the rot is being caused by club owners who demand immediate results at the expense of quality.

“Maybe the problem is with us coaches as well. Maybe we are too much oriented with the results. Our mentality is much about the results. Maybe club bosses are also demanding results, but do we have an identity as a nation? What type of football do we play in Zimbabwe?”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Air Quality

WHO Air Quality Guidelines;
monitor air quality and identify sources of air pollution;
support the transition to exclusive use of clean household energy for cooking, heating and lighting;
build safe and affordable public transport systems and pedestrian- and cycle-friendly networks;
implement stricter vehicle emissions and efficiency standards; and enforce mandatory inspection and maintenance for vehicles;
invest in energy-efficient housing and power generation;
improve industry and municipal waste management;
reduce agricultural waste incineration, forest fires and certain agro-forestry activities (e.g. charcoal production); and
include air pollution in curricula for health professionals and providing tools for the health sector to engage.

CCC Demands Immediate Justice For Elvis Nyathi

CCC Trio Court Case Update

Prophet Claims Power To Shift Kariba Dam To Central Position

Own Correspondent

It is end of the world indeed as prophets claim they can use their secret powers to move mountains and rivers.

One spiritualist known as Isaac Makomichi (aka prophet Main Event) has reportedly written to the government seeking permission to “swap Kariba Dam’s position with Mukuvisi River for 12 minutes.

Sources claim Makomichi once moved a mountain even though they said it was pure magic.

Makomichi was banned by government last year when he wanted to “remove” Marimba Mountain.

Some church leaders accuse Makomichi of being a false prophet who uses secret powers to perform shocking miracles such as making people rich and delivering of love charms to slayqueens.

“I invite everyone to witness this event, I seek permission for me to swap Kariba Dam’s position with Mukuvisi River for 12 minutes.

Everyone is invited , only one-eyed people will not be allowed because it will be very difficult for them to run away if some shocking things start to happen, those who want full information must contact me on +263777469342, no one is going to address on my behalf as I will update the country by myself through media houses” said Makomichi.

“That one is capable of doing it but he (Makomichi) must be using secret powers to perform miracles,” said Madzibaba Lorrance.

“Train ZUPCO Staff On Customer Care”

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco) has been urged to train its commuter omnibus staff who joined its franchise in customer care as most of them are discourteous to  passengers and break road rules.

The Government took advantage of the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020 to ban private commuter omnibuses (commonly known as kombis), which had become a menace to both the travelling public and other road users.

After banning the kombis, the Government invited operators who still wanted to continue with the business to join the Zupco franchise where they would follow stipulated safety and other road regulations.

The move has since seen sanity returning to the public transport sector while also contributing immensely to the fight against Covid-19 through compliance with preventive protocols.

However, some of the kombi crews have maintained their crude behaviour, both towards commuters and on the road.

Commuters interviewed by New Ziana urged Zupco to train its kombi staff in public relations and to monitor them strictly to ensure they reformed.

“They are still the same, rough and lawless,” said Jeffrey Mafukeni from Glen View in Harare.

“Sometimes they get to the rank and park, the drivers recline their seats and sleep while the conductors go out to buy food or they start counting their takings. After a while they start their buses and drive off without any passengers, leaving dejected commuters in the long queues. I do not think they are supervised,” he added

Commuters also accused some of the kombi staff of contributing to the spread of Covid-19 by not complying with the government directive to sanitise passengers before they boarded, insisting that they wear face masks, and that they did so correctly.

The Government instructed Zupco to ensure its staff hand sanitised passengers before they boarded as well as disinfected buses after a certain number of trips.

“Some of the drivers and conductors do not wear face masks and if they do, they will be lowering them below the chin,” said Patience Mutevhani from Kuwadzana.

A motorist from Mufakose who only identified himself as Aaron said the former private kombi crews were tarnishing the image of Zupco as they took their old ways to the public transporter.

Contacted for comment, Zupco acting managing director Everisto Madangwa said the company would consider re-training its commuter omnibus staff in customer care.

“When they joined us, everyone was subjected to training in public relations. It is critical to train them again,” he said.

Madangwa said Zupco would also increase supervision of its commuter omnibus staff, both at the ranks and on the road.

The Second Republic has prioritised the revival of ZUPCO as a strategy to introduce an efficient and affordable public transport system.

Over the years commuters have been suffering at the hands of private operators following the collapse of Zupco largely due to mismanagement and lack of capitalisation.

National Youth Conference Rekindles ED, VP Chiwenga Factions Feud

By A Correspondent- The Zanu-PF national youth conference slated for next month has reportedly renewed rivalry between factions aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.

The two leaders are said to be at loggerheads over who should occupy the influential deputy secretary for youth affairs post.

Fireworks are expected at the May 4 to 8 Zanu-PF elective youth conference, eight years after the ruling party last held such a conference.

Various youth posts are up for grabs, including that of deputy secretary for youth affairs.

Mnangagwa is set to appoint someone to the secretary for youth affairs post, who sits in the politburo.

Zanu-PF sources yesterday told NewsDay that Mnangagwa and Chiwenga were divided over who to endorse for the deputy youth secretary post.

Chiwenga reportedly supports Gutu North MP John Paradza for the powerful position, while Mnangagwa reportedly wants a candidate who has the aptitude to challenge Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party president Nelson Chamisa.

“The youth league is no longer vibrant as it used to be, and we are aware that President Mnangagwa and his deputy Chiwenga are divided over which candidate should occupy the deputy secretary for youth affairs post. Chiwenga is fully backing Paradza, while Mnangagwa is sweating over the position, and so they are divided at the moment,” a party source told NewsDay.

“Mnangagwa wants someone who can mobilise youths like the former youth leader Kudzanayi Chipanga, and someone who can challenge CCC leader Chamisa. Paradza is not that bad, but he does not have the required charisma, and so let’s wait and see.

“We are just waiting for a signal from Mnangagwa on what is going to be the next move.”

Other candidates reportedly eyeing top positions in the youth league, are the late former President Robert Mugabe’s son, Robert Jnr.

Businessman Danmore Mambondiyani is reportedly also eyeing a top youth position.

The youth organ is set to play a key role in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

Zanu-PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu yesterday dismissed the alleged divisions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga. He said the party was united.

“There is nothing like that at all and this is not true. People always want to wish bad things on our presidents.  Zanu-PF is a united party, and a revolutionary party. I spoke about it recently saying that there are no fissures between our Presidents and there won’t be any,” Mpofu said.

Zanu-PF acting secretary for youth affairs Tendai Chirau said preparations for the youth conference were going on well. “We are also going to hold provincial conferences,” he said.-newsday

SDA Quartet Die On Way To Church Programme

By A Correspondent- Four members of a Seventh Day Adventist Church music group died after a vehicle they were travelling on, veered off the road and overturned in Mawabeni along Gwanda road of Saturday.

The 17-member Gospel Symphony was heading to Gwanda for worship on Saturday morning when the accident occurred leaving 13 members injured.

Three of the four died on the spot while one of them later died at Esigodini Hospital. The injured group members are receiving medical attention at Mpilo Central Hospital and United Bulawayo Hospitals.

Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident yesterday urging drivers to be cautious on the road to avoid unnecessary loss of life.

“I can confirm that three people died on the spot while 13 others were injured when a vehicle lost control and veered of the road and overturned around 9AM on Saturday.

On board, there were members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on their way to Gwanda for a church programme,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

“Those who died on the spot include Corleenah   Ncube (36), Sithembelenkosini Mutemachani (52) and Egnes Majazi (38) all from Nkulumane suburb in Bulawayo.”

He said police are conducting investigations and are yet to get details about the fourth death. The fourth member who died has been identified as Mayibongwe Phiri also from Nkulumane.

The Bulawayo Fire and Ambulance Services also attended the scene and injured passengers had already been ferried to the hospital by private motor vehicles.

“The brigade found the vehicle having veered off the road and uprooted several  trees before landing on its side. All injured persons had been removed to hospital by private motor vehicles.

Two male adults believed to be church mates were found guarding the wreckage. The brigade observed that all the people including the injured were already removed from the vehicle by members of the public before the brigade arrival.

There were blood stains in and outside the vehicle which indicated some injuries to the passengers. No persons were trapped,” said chief fire officer Linos Phiri.

Chronicle caught up with one of the surviving group members Mrs Luvuno Dlamini who said the tragic incident was the most traumatic the group ever had to deal with.

“All I remember hearing is that a bus was trying to overtake us and our driver tried to avoid side swiping and then next thing we were rolling.

We are in pain and still recovering but we cannot get over the tragedy that befell our sisters and brother who lost their lives while doing God’s work. We pray for healing especially for the families who lost their loved ones,” she said.

The executive secretary of the South Zimbabwe Conference of the SDA church in charge of Nkulumane church where the music group is registered Pastor Sindiso Mpofu relayed his condolences to the affected families saying the four were dedicated ministers of the gospel.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share with you the news that four members of our church lost their lives on the 9th of April 2022, after being involved in a car accident along the Bulawayo to Beitbridge highway at Mawabeni.

“These were dedicated members of a singing group Gospel Symphony and they leave behind a legacy that will long-serve to inspire and empower us to continue to work for The Lord Jesus Christ until He comes,” said Ps Mpofu.

“We continue to pray for the speedy recovery of the injured who are still receiving medical attention. Our deepest condolences go out to their families, friends and the church at large.”-statemedia

Bogus Lawyer Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A 33 year old Harare bogus lawyer appeared before magistrate Yeukai Dzuda facing four counts of contempt of court charges and contravening the Legal Practitioners Act.

Beaven Chipunza was remanded out of custody to April 20 for trial date after being granted $15 000 bail.

It is alleged that on March 31 this year at around 10 00 hours, Chipunza appeared before Norton magistrate Christina Nyandoro masquerading as a lawyer representing Shamiso Koroka who had been charged with Unlawful Possession of Dangerous Drugs after she was arrested while in possession of Crystal Meth.

Chipunza identified himself in court as Koroka’s lawyer, but he failed to produce his practising certificate.

On April 7 this year, at around 1140 hours, Chipunza also appeared at the Norton Magistrates Court, in a case which was presided over by Takunda Chipeta where he also claimed that he was representing Koroka as her lawyer.

He was asked to produce his practising certificate but he failed to do so.  Chipunza masqueraded as a lawyer on two other counts.

It was later observed that he had no practising certificate which led to his arrest.

Chegutu Man On The Run After Killing Wife 13 Days After “Marriage”

By A Correspondent- A Chegutu man allegedly murdered his partner in cold blood, just 13 days after they started living together.

Simon Jackson (45) of Zvamano Village under Chief Nherera in Mhondoro, Chegutu had taken the now deceased, Tsitsi Socha, as his wife though the couple had not yet done the required customary rituals when the alleged murder happened.

Simon had a misunderstanding with his wife on 13 March, accusing her of infidelity before her disappearance.

Tsitsi’s highly decomposing body was found on 26 March being eaten by dogs after pulling it from a 50-centimetre shallow grave.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Mashonaland West Province, Inspector Margaret Chitove, confirmed the murder.

She said police have since launched a manhunt for Simon whom they suspect of killing his wife.

Insp Chitove said Jackson only filed a missing person’s report on 17 March after being pushed to do so by the deceased’s sisters Susan and Tarisai Socha from the same village.

Jackson’s brother Edison Makaure (48) from the same village, discovered that he was missing on 20 March and filed a report at Mubaira police station.

On 26 March, Makaure discovered the body being eaten by dogs in his brother’s field.

Tsitsi’s body was positively identified by her two sisters through the clothes she was wearing.-statemedia

Fake US$ Conmen On The Prowl

By A Correspondent- Conmen dealing in fake United States dollars were last Thursday forced to flee in a getaway vehicle in Karoi, which they later dumped during a chase by the police.

The fraudsters are still on the run after they duped a Karoi resident, Brenda Nachi (42) of her US$20 after they bought some toiletries from her using the fake currency.

They had given her a fake US$100.00 note and received US$80 change from her.

Nachi made a police report resulting in the chase around 8.00pm on Thursday evening.

The suspects were driving a white Toyota Mark X with registration numbers AFI 7454.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Margaret Chitove confirmed the incident saying investigations were underway.

‘‘The unknown accused persons used fake US dollar notes to buy a few items and were given change. The unknown accused persons forged their vehicle number plate by using a yellow reflector and black insulating tape to cover the letter ‘I’ so that it reads as letter ‘H’,” Chitove said.

She said after the chase by the police, the robbers abandoned their getaway vehicle where police found a machete, a sjambok and a home- made big sharp knife.

A pair of number plates with registration numbers AFA 5494 was recovered in the vehicle.

The suspects have been targeting the Karoi farming town for the past two years using the same operation, and were getting away with it until last Thursday when luck ran out of them.-newsday

Trio In Soup Over Rape, Robbery In Botswana

By A Correspondent- Three Zimbabwean men are in Botswana’s remand prison to answer robbery and rape charges.

Desmond Khupe (19), Lucky Dube, (23) and Calvin Maphosa (43), who are all illegal migrants, were not asked to plead to the charges when they appeared before Francistown magistrate Game Mooketsi.

The trio also faces another charge of entering Botswana through illegal entry points.

But Mooketsi recused herself from the matter, saying she knew some of the complainants.

Mooketsi then remanded them to Tuesday so that the matter can be tried by another magistrate.

The court was told that the trio, together with five other persons, who are still at large, on March 28 raped two women at or near Chadibe, about 25km west of Francistown.

It is alleged that on the same day the three used violence to obtain from their victims P350, property worth P13 720 and clothes and mobile phones of different brands worth P11 100.

They allegedly used catapults, knives and machetes to threaten their victims.

In court, prosecutor Janet Mothowakgosi said an application for the pleas of the accused persons should be reserved as the investigating officer was not available, adding that investigations were still at an initial stage.

In his plea for freedom, Khupe asked for tests to be done on the rape victims, adding that he would like to see them as he did not recall anything.

Dube’s defence was that on the day on which he is alleged to have committed the offence, he was in Zimbabwe and only arrived in Botswana on March 30.

Maphosa said he did not know the first accused, adding that he only arrived in Botswana last Wednesday with Dube.-newsday

Operation Dudula- “Zimbabweans Have A Right To Wage War Against Everything South African”

By A Correspondent- Fears abound that more Zimbabweans living in neighbouring South Africa are in danger as Operation Dudula has spread to Durban and other areas.

Operation Dudula is a fast-rising anti-African immigrant sentiment in South Africa where there are frantic efforts to chase away foreigners, particularly Zimbabweans.

Last week, a Zimbabwean man Elvis Nyathi who was stoned and burned to death in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, became the latest victim of the xenophobic violence.

Reports yesterday by South African television station eNCA indicated that Operation Dudula was extending its branches to other South African provinces with its first launch being in KwaZulu Natal.

The eNCA further alleged that the delay in its spread to other provinces had been due to the arrest of its (Dudula) leader Lux Nhlanhla and the resistance by South African police to have the operation continue.

There are also reports that South African Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi has accused the Zimbabwean army for fuelling the migrant crisis in the neighbouring country by allowing illegal crossings.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday told NewsDay that any member of the security sector who engages in corruption would be brought to book.

Political analysts said the spread of Operation Dudula to other provinces in South Africa was worrying.

“Our countrymen can only be safe if vigilante groups like Dudula are immediately disbanded. The SA government and the SA police (SAP) cannot continue to condone the wanton abuse of rights,” said analyst Rejoice Ngwenya.

“What this really means is that we now also have a right to wage war against anything South African in Zimbabwe. If the South Africans don’t value our lives, why should we value our business co-operation? South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is in denial and his high sounding rhetoric counts for nothing until he directly confronts Dudula as another loss of life cannot be tolerated.”

Another Analyst Vivid Gwede said “Operation Dudula and its attendant fallout of xenophobic violence are inexcusable on the part of the people and government of South Africa. Equally, there should be reflection in the whole of Sadc on how to deal with historical inequalities in South Africa, poor economic performance and political problems in countries like Zimbabwe and the challenges of scarce economic opportunity and migration.”

Analyst Alexandra Rusero said:  “The violence in SA points out the moral decadence of the African National Congress which cannot be pointed out or pinned on any government or nationality. ANC officials are now behaving like an opposition party yet they are a government with the responsibility to protect all citizens, not particularly South African citizens.”-newsday

Fresh Details Emerge On Mhondoro-Chivero Helicopter Crash

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a helicopter crash that occurred in the Mhondoro area on Sunday afternoon, killing the pilot on the spot.

The helicopter came down in Lothin Farm popularly known as kwaJojo in Mhondoro-Chivero, less than 100 metres from a homestead.

ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Monday said the deceased pilot was flying a private R44 helicopter.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to The Herald said the helicopter was flying low from the Mupfure River direction, heading towards Harare, before it crashed on a mountain. Musekiwa Mapunde said:

It seemed as if the pilot wanted to fly past trees in the mountain but failed, resulting in the helicopter hitting a tree branch and within seconds, we heard a loud bang.

The sound of the helicopter was just like that of small planes. I then rushed from my homestead as the helicopter had crashed near my neighbour’s compound.

We then discovered that the helicopter had crashed with wreckage all over the place, we tried to save the life of the pilot, but it was too late as he was dead.

Within minutes, a neighbourhood officer arrived and managed to get in touch with the police who then attended the scene.

Another eyewitness, Elson Mangani, whose homestead is the nearest to the crash scene, said he could tell the plane was flying low by its sound. He said:

I was inside my house and only heard the sound of the helicopter which was clear that it was flying low.

I was not taken aback since planes usually pass through the area. There was my son outside who witnessed the plane crashing and shouted while seeking protection.

At that moment I then rushed outside only to witness pieces of the helicopter hanging on trees in the mountain and its sound when crashing.

Reports indicate that the private helicopter was the same plane that ferried comedienne Mai TT to her wedding in Chisipite, Harare on Saturday.

Former MDC T Members Threaten CCC Comeback

By A Correspondent- Former MDC-T members have announced that they will contest for any position that might arise in the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party after its leaders said it is a new outfit in which everyone is starting afresh.

MDC-T secretary-general Nomvula Mguni yesterday told Southern Eye that opposition leaders must concentrate on uniting people instead of dividing them.

Her party leader Thokozani Khupe declared herself a member of the CCC party on Saturday and attended a meeting addressed by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa. Khupe sat in the crowd at Bulawayo’s McDonalds Hall in Makokoba.

The CCC Bulawayo provincial leadership has announced that it is not keen to work with Khupe.

No one can stop what happened on Saturday because it is for the people.  Everyone needs change and we will contest any positions that will come up within CCC.  We have been told that this is a new party and that we are starting afresh.  People are the ones who elect others into positions,” Mguni said.

She said the opposition should concentrate on uniting people.

Sources said Khupe was now an ordinary card-carrying member of CCC party.

On Saturday, she was reportedly welcomed by members of the opposition party as she sat with the crowds.

Meanwhile, Chamisa on Saturday told his members that his party will soon convene an elective congress to choose its leaders.-Newsday

Teen Pregnancies- Rural Girls Drop Out Of School

By A Correspondent- The rate of school pregnancies during the just ended Covid 19 lockdown period is shocking with at least five schools getting an average of 20 pr_egnant girls each.

Zvishavane District AIDS Coordinator, Dennis Jaravani told a stakeholders meeting held at White hospital nurse’s boardroom two weeks ago that Mabasa Secondary under Chief Masunda recorded the highest number of pre_gnancies with 23 dropping out of school.

Dambudzo Secondary School under Chief Mapanzure sits at number two with 22 pregnant pupils.

Chivizina High school under Chief Mazvihwa had 20 girls and is number 3; number 4 is Chenhunguru Secondary School under Chief Masunda with 18 girls and on number 5 are two schools, Ngomeyebani Secondary School under Chief Masunda and Korogwe under Chief Mupakami which are both tied at 17 pre_gnancies.

On number 7 is Rubweruchena under Chief Mazvihwa which had 16 pregnant pupils and Mandava High in Zvishavane Urban reported 14 pregnancies. Zvishavane High had the least with only 2 pupils getting pregnant.

A Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education report in the hands of The Mirror says there was a total of 231 teenager pregnancies in Zvishavane District and the majority are from rural schools.

“Teenage pr_egnancies is one of the key challenges we faced during the period under review and there is need to engage the Ministry of Education for a programme to avert such in future “, he said.

Zimbabwe National Network for People Living with HIV (ZNNPt) focal person Tracy Manjengwa said there is need to educate the girl child on pregnancies.

“Girls are having sex to prove to their partners that they love them. They are also having s_x for material things. They should be taught that love is not all about s_x “, she said.

“Of Cancer Machines And Politics”- Journalist’s Heartrending Experience

May her dearest soul rest in eternal peace

By Robert Mukondiwa- Exactly two years ago I lost this awesome soul to breast cancer which had spread to the lungs. April 11 of 2020.

It was a particularly painful loss not because she is my best friend and mother but for so many other reasons.

At the very top is the fact that we had a diagnosis that shocked doctors. Mom was living in the rurals and but had self-diagnosed and the doctor said it was one of the earliest detections he had ever seen.

And for a rural woman to frequently self-test impressed him.So they say early detection saves lives? Not in Zimbabwe. We took her for a mastectomy and had the breast removed in little time.

There was hardly equipment but I suppose my joy came from the doctors and Parirenyatwa staff who under tough conditions were ever pleasant, loving and helpful. Then she had to go for chemotherapy. That was painful as I could hardly afford it. But my workmates would always help. Michelle Hakata was my boss and Robin Chaibva my bestie who would always help. I could say 3 quarters of the chemo was footed by Michelle.

Then we needed radiotherapy. And that ‘machine came into play’.For the entire four years she never got ONE single session. Nor ONE. Mom would get the bus from Muzarabani and all the time she would have to cancel because every time the machine was down. She was then told to try going to Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo.

Yes; 206 kilometres from Muzarabani to Harare and an additional 500 give or take to Bulawayo. But we could squeeze that in because Bulawayo is home and we have family there. What about other Zimbabweans who couldn’t afford that?

Well anyway, when we planned that, the machine in Mpilo also broke down. So, we had to go for option 3 which was get her to South Africa for sessions then bring her back home after that. She needed a passport. I don’t need to explain what that means to any Zimbabwean.

And so, a few years later the cancer returned and it was belligerently mad. And so began our three-month journey to losing her. In and out of Parirenytatwa. Squealing as she got punctured with little anaesthetic in order to drain her flooded lungs. Having her look at her arms as they became thin and emaciated and say: “Robby mwanangu, pachine hupenyu ipapa?” But I’d always try and cheer her up.

Then one day I had her back at home and brought her a wheelchair as she could not walk easily. It was a Thursday. I looked at her during lunch break. I had moved out of home as I was working and didn’t want to risk giving her other diseases since Covid had just set in. I told myself I didn’t want to see her like that again. I skipped visiting her on the Friday. She wasn’t in pain but she was losing the battle.

Then on the Saturday. I got the call. I broke down. I’ve never recovered. I’ve hardly ever written exactly what happened those weeks. And those four years. I’ve actually decided to write this without any emotion because had I put in the emotion I’d have made a LOT of enemies and called out a lot of idiots.

When you talk about cancer machines and treatment you are talking about statistics. I’m not. I’m talking about the woman in the ward oppose moms who died and we had to lie to mom that she had been transferred so I wouldn’t upset her. That women was 34.

Or My workmate the lovely Sihle Mkondo who was my mom’s support system. Sihle died a year and a half after mother. Or little Ernest. Aged 13. He was in the ward with my mom who he called gogo. He called me Robbie. I thought with my greying beard he would called me mukoma. No such luck. I was Robbie. He went on to die aged 14 a year after mom and a few months before Sihle.

When I went to see him last he was lying in the same bed my mother had died in. and the next day my muzukuru Maud called me and said “We have lost the battle.” At 14 we had lost Ernest. I went to the hospital and saw him lying in the side ward where my mother used to stay. I talked to him. To his corpse. Held his forehead. Told him he was loved and that he had rested. You know what? The previous day when I last saw him, I had told Maud “Ernest is dying either tonight or tomorrow morning. I don’t want to see him in pain so only call me when he has rested.”

When you start accepting death like that know that things are no longer normal. So go ahead. Argue back and forth about the state of cancer equipment and treatment in Zimbabwe. Defend as much as you will. Just know that where I am I am not only praying for cancer radiotherapy machines in Zimbabwe. I am praying that even the mother of the fool who is playing with such issues never gets to get cancer and experience the pain I went through.

When I see people touting themselves as cancer ambassadors what-what I just look and say forgive these fools. With cancer, this is personal. What I can promise you though is look out for a book on the five-year battle I had with cancer alongside mom, Sihle and Ernest. Perhaps a go fund me to tell the REAL story of such fights and not mickey mouse tall tales?

To some of you, this is defending your territory and scoring debate points. To me it is reliving my fight with my best friend. Senzeni. It has been two years. You are loved.

By the way-nanhasi mushini wakafa mhamha. Nanhasi mushini wakafa! (Teary so I will end here…for now!) Maud Highlyfavoured Jaya

Zimbabwean Attacked By S.A Locals With An Axe Seeks Help

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean national living in South Africa was injured in an alleged attack two weeks ago by locals in Capetown’s Breadasdorp settlement.

Immanuel Zinja told VOA Zimbabwe that he wants to return to Zimbabwe as his property was looted, leaving him and his pregnant wife almost destitute.

He said he was attacked by protesters armed with axes and machetes and suffered deep cuts on his head and had to be hospitalized.

The South Africans accuse foreign nationals of taking their jobs and fueling crime. Said Zinja:

All our property was looted while I was in the hospital. When my wife Letwin (Mupfugami) went to check on some baby clothing she had bought for the child she is expecting, she found the house empty.

We have been living in South Africa since 2014. So, all the property we were buying to take back home was stolen. We have nothing except the clothes on our backs.

Zinja’s wife said she learnt about her husband’s attack on a local WhatsApp group in which she is a member. She said:

I nearly passed out when I read a message on the WhatsApp group concerning my husband whose name was mentioned.

Indications were that he was either dead or still alive. I tried to call him but he was not responding to my calls.

I ended up calling his boss who informed me that he had been badly hurt and had some deep cuts from an axe on his head but was still alive and had been taken to a local hospital.

When I got to the hospital, he could not recognize me and had to be taken for surgery at a hospital that specializes in serious injuries.

Letwin quit her job as a farm labourer in order to look after her unwell husband. She advised fellow Zimbabwean immigrants to be alert as they can be attacked at any time. She said:

I advise Zimbabweans who are in unsafe areas to send all their property home as they risk losing everything like us.

We have nothing but worked in South Africa for a long time.

We must now rely on well-wishers so that we can return home. This is a sad situation and has stripped us of all our dignity.

Those interested in assisting us can contact my husband on WhatsApp number +27642173467.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Zimbabwean immigrant, Elvis Nyathi, was extorted of R50, assaulted and burnt in the street in Diepsloot last week on Wednesday.

On Monday, President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans to stop taking the law into their hands by attacking undocumented foreigners.

Gvnt Investigating Over 22k Teachers

By A Correspondent- The Public Service Commission (PSC) is investigating at least 22 000 teachers for failing to report for work when schools opened on 7 February while 1 220 have been suspended, teachers’ unions have claimed.

When the 2022 first term commenced in February, teachers stayed away from work saying they were financially incapacitated.

The Government responded by extending a salary increment to civil servants but it was far much lower than what teachers were pushing for.

Teachers who failed to report for work after the salary adjustment were then suspended.

PSC acting secretary Walter Mpandawana on Monday said the number of suspended teachers was much lower than reported. He said:

The whole picture hasn’t been provided to the commission. We have received some figures, but I don’t have the statistics now.

The figures are not that much, it’s just that I don’t have the statistics at the moment.

However, Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) president Obert Masaraure insisted the figures were accurate. Said Masaraure:

At the moment we have recorded around 1 220 teachers who have been suspended, including school heads while 22 000 are being investigated.

We have been challenging the suspension because it is illegal. We hope the courts overturn these suspensions.

We can’t have a country being run like this. Our labour laws don’t allow such things.

Progressive Teachers Unions of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Takavafira Zhou said the number of teachers under investigation is higher than what has hitherto been reported. He said:

Actually, 22 000 is an understatement because more than 50 000 are under investigation by the government.

We have more than 5 000 who are already on suspension without pay yet the law is very clear that unless you have a criminal record you can be suspended on half your salary.

So the whole essence of the assault on teachers by the government is very unfortunate.

Teachers want the government to restore their pre-October 2018 salaries of about US$540.-newsday

Ambulance Crash Kills Pregnant Woman

By A Correspondent- A pregnant woman died on Sunday after an ambulance taking her to Bulawayo from Nkayi crashed on a treacherous stretch of road near Inyathi.

Patricia Nyoni, 35, was a referral from Mateme Clinic to Nkayi District Hospital after developing complications during child birth.

The diagnosis was hand prolapse and transverse lie – medical terms for a baby positioned horizontally across the uterus, rather than vertically, with a hand coming out first.

Staff at Nkayi determined that she needed emergency surgery – which the hospital is not equipped to handle. An ambulance – the only one working in the district – was dispatched to rush her to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo at around 8AM on Sunday.

A hospital source said: “A wheel came off in an extremely bad part of the road and the ambulance overturned. The driver escaped unhurt but a nurse was treated at Inyathi hospital after sustaining some injuries.”

Matabeleland North provincial medical director Dr Admire Kureru said: “I can confirm that one of our Nkayi ambulances was involved in an accident on Sunday, and it appears a patient died. I’m still to get the finer details from the district medical officer.”

ZimLive has heard that Nkayi District Hospital has two ambulances, but one has been out of service for months.

The accident will once again shine a spotlight on the treacherous Bulawayo – Nkayi Road, a former tarred road which now has just a strip of tarmac and massive potholes either side.

The 150km road has been under construction for more than 20 years – in stop-start fashion, barely covering 5km at a time.

The crash also leaves Nkayi without a working ambulance. The one parked at the hospital, a donation from the European Union, is grounded with a gearbox problem and worn-out tyres.

Girlfriend Row Turns Fatal

By A Correspondent- A 30 year old Shurugwi man was allegedly fatally sta_bbed by his friend with an okapi knife in a fight over a girlfriend.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emanuel Mahoko confirmed the alleged fatal sta_bbing of Blessing Mxotshwa (30) by his friend Hardlife Mudzingwa (30) over a girlfriend aged 24.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of murder where a man was st-abbed to death over a girlfriend in Shurugwi. Hardlife Mudzingwa (30) and Blessing Mxotshwa (30) of Village 14 Tokwe 3 Valley, Shurugwi were friends. Mudzingwa, the suspect in this case discovered that they were in love with the same woman,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said on Friday around 7:50pm, Mxotshwa visited the alleged girlfriend in Shurugwi before Mudzingwa also paid the same woman a visit.

“On Friday around 7:50pm it is alleged that Mudzingwa visited his girlfriend at her home and she refused to open the door for him. This did not go down well with the suspect who forcibly gained entry through a broken dining room window and discovered that she was in the company of his friend Mxotshwa,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said the two friends were engaged in a heated argument over the woman they were allegedly both in love with.

“An argument arose between the suspect Mudzingwa and Mxotshwa. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed Mxotshwa once on the neck and fled the scene. Mxotshwa died on the spot,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said a report was made at ZRP Shurugwi and the scene was attended.

Mwonzora MPs, Zanu PF Alliance Exposed

By- Binga North MP, Prince Dubeko Sibanda (CCC), has exposed the shenanigans which the Douglas Mwonzora MPs were doing in parliament.

Sibanda said parliament will now provide real oversight over Government departments following the election of nineteen (19) legislators from the opposition party.

Dubeko Sibanda claimed that Parliament had become a place of gentlemen’s agreement between ZANU PF and MDC-T after Douglas Mwonzora recalled dozens of MDC Alliance MPs.

Since the recalls started in 2020, the remaining MDC Alliance MPs have voted together with ZANU PF to approve Constitution Amendment Bill No.1 and Constitution Amendment Bill No.2.

Speaking in a recent interview with OpenParly, Dubeko Sibanda said CCC MPs will hold the Government to account and ensure that things are done the proper way. He said:

People were having challenges with oversight, over government departments in our communities. For example, if any government department was not doing things in a manner that they are supposed to be done people had nobody to resort to, but now with the MPs back it is easy to say to a government depart why are you not doing things in the proper way it is supposed to be done.

So, oversight is going to be seen again, representativeness is going to happen again. We know that Parliament had virtually become a circus immediately after the recalls to an extent that it had become a place of gentlemen’s agreement where ZANU PF and the other party were all agreeing and moving together without considering the will of the people.

So, we believe that now ZANU PF and its government are going to be made to be accountable because representatives of the people are back.

Sibanda garnered 10 130 votes, defeating Kudakwashe Mavula Munsaka of ZANU-PF who came second with 7 971 votes in the 26 March by-elections.

Chebundo Angers Mnangagwa

Man On The Run After Stabbing Friend

– H- Metro

Centre No Longer Holding For Togarasei Mwonzora

By-MDC Alliance councillors in Bulawayo are said to be planning to dump their party President Douglas Mwonzora.

This came out of a caucus meeting of the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) two weeks ago.

The CCC caucus was chaired by former Bulawayo deputy mayor, Tinashe Kambarami and former Bulawayo Senator, Matson Hlalo.

The caucus reportedly discussed a possible move for the councillors to pass a vote of no confidence against the city’s Town Clerk, Christopher Dube and the Mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni.

In leaked audio to the Councillors’ WhatsApp group, Clr Ndlovu accused MDC Alliance Councillors of being sell-outs, claiming that the majority are planning to ditch Mwonzora just before the 2023 general elections. Ndlovu said:

I have a question Bulawayo councillors, I will exclude two people or just maybe one from this group, and the person I will remove is the chief whip, Clr Silas Chigora.

I will exclude you chief whip because you stand for what you say. People have been accusing you of causing the recall of councillors until we realised that you are innocent and you have clearly stated that you are a member of the MDC-T.

What I would like to know is who exposed me that I attended the CCC caucus, who leaked, I am asking, who exposed me.

I would like to say the truth right now and right here that even the MDC-T president Mwonzora is dull, if he was clever he would recall all the sell-outs from Bulawayo.

In this group there is not even one councillor going with Mwonzora, the majority of you are saying they will leave him during the last days of your terms.

Ndlovu further claimed that there were some MDC Alliance Councillors who attended a meeting with CCC leader Nelson Chamisa in Harare, recently.

When contacted for a comment by The Sunday News, Ndlovu confirmed that she was indeed the one speaking in the audio and stood by what she said.

Reports suggest that the majority of MDC Alliance MPs and Councillors across the country now support Chamisa after Mwonzora’s party failed to win a single parliamentary seat or ward in the 26 March by-elections.

New COVID-19 Variant In Botswana

By – The government of Botswana has announced that it had detected a new covid-19 variant.

Below is the full statement by the Botswana government on the new covid-19 variant:

The Ministry of Health and Wellness wishes to inform members of the public that our scientists have been investigating new coronavirus mutations detected in Botswana.

On further analysis and verification, these mutations which have been so far detected in four people in Botswana, have been noted as a new sub-lineage of the Omicron variant.

The preliminary finding of this new sublineage in Botswana has been designated as Omicron BA.4 and BA.5.

The four cases are currently being monitored to gather more information about the potential impact on disease spread and severity.

The foursome comprises residents and non-residents aged between 30 and 50 years, two being non-residents who had a recent travel history.

The quartet is fully vaccinated and has been experiencing only mild symptoms. The same new sublineage has also been reported in three other countries.

The ministry, in collaboration with other stakeholders including regional and international bodies, is still studying the properties and characteristics of this Omicron sub lineage in order to gain more data and knowledge about its behaviour.

So far, no conclusions have been made yet, in relation to whether or not, the sub-lineage is more deadly and more transmissible than the known Omicron variant.

Similarly, investigations on whether COVID-19 vaccines are effective against this sublineage are ongoing.

Although it is common for viruses to mutate as they spread from one person to another, some mutations become responsible for high infection rates and cause severe disease.

This would be due to among others, changes in virus behaviour and characteristics. When this happens, the new variant could be determined as a variant of concern (VOC).

These new specific changes are always subject to further investigations and verification with the world scientific community.

The ministry awaits further guidance from World Health Organization (WHO) on how to manage its transmission.

At the moment, the ministry calls upon members of the public, not to panic but to continue being vigilant.

The public is further encouraged to vaccinate and take their booster shots, if eligible.

This is important because in the event new variants of COVID-19 emerge and spark a new wave of infections (fifth wave), the impact may be more severe for the unvaccinated.

The ministry will keep the public informed about any new developments in this matter.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Dr Christopher Nyanga

Mafume Wins Bounced Back

The CCC party’s mayor, Jacob Mafume (Harare) has won his case against removal from office.

The development follows multiple recalls of MPs and councillors from Nelson Chamisa’s party since 2020.

Mafume yesterday won his battle against Local Government minister July Moyo, with the High Court barring both the council and the minister from seeking to replace him.
Moyo had announced the vacancy, claiming that Mafume had been recalled by a faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The order followed an application by Mafume and Mutare mayor Simon Chabuka and Arnold Batirai Dube, a former Bulawayo councillor who challenged their recall by the PDP faction.

High Court judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi upheld Mafume’s application.

Mafume, Chabuka and Dube had challenged their dismissal by Moyo.

The trio sought an order that their recall be declared null and void and unconstitutional.

Moyo said the PDP had notified him of the trio’s suspension through a letter dated March 28, 2022.

The trio had won the seats under the 2018 MDC Alliance pact, of which PDP was a member.

Moyo had instructed the town clerks of Harare, Mutare and Bulawayo to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of the vacancies in terms of section 278 of the Constitution, saying they had joined a new political party, the Citizens Coalition for Change.

But Mafume argued that they belonged to the PDP faction led by Tendai Biti, who had not recalled them.

They cited Moyo, the Harare, Bulawayo and the Mutare town clerks as respondents as they sought an interdict declaring the Local Government minister’s letters null and void.

They also sought an order on costs on a punitive scale.– Newsday

Mai Titi Pilot Chopper Crash

The helicopter that crashed near Chibhero Agricultural College in Mhondoro on Sunday was privately owned and resulted in the death of its pilot, officials said yesterday.
The chopper was owned by Chikopokopo Helicopter Tours in Victoria Falls and had ferried comedian Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi to her wedding in Chisipite, Harare, the previous day.

The pilot, who was alone when the crash happened, was identified as Peter Chirimuuto.

Chikopokopo proprietor Lloyd Muchaka yesterday confirmed to NewsDay: “Yes, it is true that the chopper belonged to us. The pilot was the only one on board and he was on duty.”

Contacted for comment by NewsDay yesterday, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “I am waiting for a full briefing.”

In a Facebook post yesterday Mai Titi said she was traumatised by Chirimuuto’s death.

“Just this morning people called me saying your pilot crashed and passed away soon after dropping me, I am thinking it is just false rumours. I didn’t know him. I just booked for Chikopokopo services and when I went on board he opened the door for me, saluted and said: ‘I’m honoured to be taking you to your big day’,” Mai Titi said.

“May his family be comforted, this is a terrible time. Ah God, why? My brother, I don’t know what to say. May your soul rest in peace and thank you for the hospitality you gave me those few minutes I knew you,” she said.

Two police officers were guarding the wreckage, with some pieces from the wings seen hanging on a tree about 10 metres away.

An eyewitness, Mr Musekiwa Mapunde told The Herald that : “It seemed as if the pilot wanted to fly past trees in the mountain but failed, resulting in the helicopter hitting a tree branch and within seconds, we heard a loud bang.

“The sound of the helicopter was just like that of small planes. I then rushed from my homestead as the helicopter had crashed near my neighbour’s compound.”

Mr Mapunde said he then met eight other villagers who directed them to the exact site of the crash in the mountain.

“We then discovered that the helicopter had crashed with wreckage all over the place, we tried to save the life of the pilot, but it was too late as he was dead. Within minutes, a neighbourhood officer arrived and managed to get in touch with the police who then attended the scene,” said Mr Mapunde.

Mr Elson Mangani, whose homestead is the nearest to the crash scene, said his family escaped death by a whisker.

“I was inside my house and only heard the sound of the helicopter which was clear that it was flying low.

“I was not taken aback since planes usually pass through the area. There was my son outside who witnessed the plane crashing and shouted while seeking protection.

“At that moment I then rushed outside only to witness pieces of the helicopter hanging on trees in the mountain and its sound when crashing,” he said.

Another witness, Mrs Elizabeth Kacheche, said she remains terrified “even up to now”.

“I am yet to come to terms with the horrific incident since it is my first time encountering such experience,” she said.

Another helicopter was also forced to crash land recently after developing a technical fault in the same area.- state media

About Air Pollution

WHO Air Quality Guidelines;
monitor air quality and identify sources of air pollution;
support the transition to exclusive use of clean household energy for cooking, heating and lighting;
build safe and affordable public transport systems and pedestrian- and cycle-friendly networks;
implement stricter vehicle emissions and efficiency standards; and enforce mandatory inspection and maintenance for vehicles;
invest in energy-efficient housing and power generation;
improve industry and municipal waste management;
reduce agricultural waste incineration, forest fires and certain agro-forestry activities (e.g. charcoal production); and
include air pollution in curricula for health professionals and providing tools for the health sector to engage.

Call For Mine Workers to Register And Vote Opposition into Power

– last resort –
HARARE – As the momentum for the electoral cycle nears 2023 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government General Elections, workers and their dependants have been urged to register to vote as Union puts hope for economic relief of all mine workers in Zimbabwe in the wise casting of their vote.

by Maxwell Teedzai | “This Government does not see us as human because as miners and our dependants, we’re apathetic as far as involvement in general elections is concerned and that makes it hardly possible for us to effectively push for better working conditions for ourselves and my position as President of NMWUZ is for all mine workers to vote for President Nelson Chamisa and his ruling opposition CCC – Citizen Coalition for Change as last resort in our quest to deliver a living wage adjustment for all mine workers, a plea which the present Government has repeatedly refused to honor,” said Kurebwa Javangwe Nomboka, the President of the NMWUZ – Mine Workers Union of Zimbabwe.
Government has since availed US$98 million to the Zimstat – Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency for the 2022 population and housing census slated for April 21 this year.

However, NMWUZ has emphasised the need not to politicise the census results and called on nuetrality in the delimitation of constituencies so that demacations do not disadvantage one side while making the other a frog-leap ahead.

Nomboka added, “We’re worried that the 2022 census might be hi-jacked by manipulative elements, as media reports have been circulating that Zimstat is under siege from Zanu PF officials who are politicising the recruitment of youth enumerators for the upcoming census.”

Following a recent cabinet resolution to reserve a youth quota in the employment of census enumerators, Zanu PF youth league officials have annointed themselves recruiting officers, thereby overriding government employment protocols.

Meanwhile Minister of Finance Mr Mthuli Ncube has since introduced the new one hundred dollar note. The move has left many citizens bamboozled as to what value the raising of inflation will give to our already crippled economy.
“We do not understand what value the raising of our local economy will do with the coming of the new one hundred dollar note.”

Apparently, Government of Zimbabwe through the Finance ministry has recently hiked interest rate on all rtgs$ bank loans.
“The move by Government to increase interest rate of rtgs$ is severe blow to mine workers who are servicing their bank loans while their income has remained stagnant with insignificantly low salary adjustments”.
Ironically, the new hundred dollar note cannot buy a cob of roasted mealies. On a space of sixty days prices of basic commodities and public transport, including fuel have been increased by approximately three hundred percent.

The extractives sector is the biggest foreign currency earner in Zimbabwe yet mind workers are the poorest.

It is progressive that for serious economic recovery to take place in Zimbabwe, Government must take seriously the welfare of mine workers.

The 2016 USAID Strategic Economic Research and Analysis – Zimbabwe (SERA) Program on Wage Structure and Labour Costs in Zimbabwe: Analysis of Flexibility, Competitiveness and Equity noted that the recovery of the economy of Zimbabwe will been underpinned by the primary and resource sectors (agriculture and mining) and that the contribution of the mining sector to GDP rose from 8.1 per cent in 2009 to 10.4 per cent in 2013 and 15.2 percent in 2014 while the contribution of the agriculture sector declined from 15.1 per cent in 009 to 12.8 per cent in 2013 before improving to 14.8 per cent in 2014.

“The cost of living for mine workers is way down below the PDL – Poverty Datum Line and no wage package consistent with a dignified and decent lifestyle has been brought forth.”

The NMWUZ President has since called for immediate dialogue with Government (Finance ministry and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor) to find the best way forward in recapacitating mine workers who are living in squalid conditions and starving in the midst of plenty. The areas to be dialogued include the need to scrap off import duty on vehicles and equipment, reducing interest rates on mortgages and special rtgs$ bank loans.

Soldier Runs Amock, Shoots Villager

By- A Beitbridge villager Knowledge Sibanda has been shot and injured by a soldier as he was driving near the now-defunct River Ranch Diamond Mine.

When police officers attended the scene, the soldier’s colleagues allegedly chased them away and destroyed evidence.

The incident happened last Thursday.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he can only get finer details about the issue on Monday.

“If you can call me tomorrow I might have details. At the moment I don’t have much,” Nyathi said.
“They fired at me and hit my car nine times. They had not even attempted to stop me, when I passed by they just started opening fire. When police based at Makakavhule Clinic tried to attend to the scene, the soldiers chased them away,” Sibanda told NewsDay.
“I was grazed by a bullet in the head, but I do not have serious injuries. These people (soldiers) are causing a lot of problems in our village, and we have no protection because they are a law unto themselves. You should have seen how they humiliated the police,” he said.
Confusion is reigning supreme in Beitbridge where an operation against smuggling has been on-going, and has resulted in people beaten up or dying in the hands of law enforcement agents.
In December last year, police detective Sergeant Sikhelele Ncube told the court that a tout called Abel Gumbo who operated at the border town was shot by the police in Lutumba in May this year after he was mistaken for an armed robber.
Gumbo whose family is yet to get justice was shot dead by a policeman who was part of a team deployed in an operation against smuggling. Newsday

Former Airforce Pilot Dies In Chopper Crash

By- A former Airforce of Zimbabwe pilot has died in a helicopter crash.

Captain Peter Chirimuuta was the pilot of a helicopter that ferried comedienne Mai TT, real name Felistas Murata, to her wedding in Chisipite on Saturday.
He was a SACAA Licenced Commercial Helicopter R44 and AB412 Pilot.

Chirimuuta was reportedly a former Squadron Commander and Military Pilot at the Airforce of Zimbabwe and was involved in many disaster rescue operations in the country.

AFZ public relations officer, Simon Matingwina has since confirmed the crash but said the helicopter was not theirs.
I know about the crash, but it was not our helicopter. I think Mhondoro police attended the scene.

In a Facebook post this Monday, Mai TT said she called the owner of the helicopter who confirmed the crash after receiving calls from several people asking about the incident. She wrote:
Just this morning people called me saying your pilot crashed and passed away soon after dropping me, I’m thinking it’s just false rumours.
I’m calling the owner of the Helicopters I booked from he confirmed it’s true he crashed and died the next day on Sunday as he was coming from picking up another client.
I don’t know him I just booked for Chikopokopo services and when I went on board he opened the door for me saluted and said I’m honoured to be taking you to your big day
Becky called at the same time and said can you delay coming to the venue by 20 minutes? He said no ma’am, I got to take you now because a dark cloud is coming was this the dark cloud he meant? I’m traumatized right now.
My brother I don’t know what to say, may your soul Rest In Peace and thank you even if I don’t know you personally for the hospitality you gave me those few minutes I knew you.
May his family be comforted this is terrible time. Ah God, why???
The helicopter crashed on Sunday, reportedly near Chibhero College in Mhondoro. The pilot was alone when the plane crashed.

Chamisa Aide Exposes Mwonzora MPs Shenanigans

Zanu PF Youths Displace Census Conducting Teachers

By-The Zimbabwe Statistical Agency (Zimstat) has released several teachers who had been hired and trained as enumerators for the national population census and replaced them with ZANU PF youths.

The teachers were fired from the programme for allegedly participating in the strike which took place in February when schools opened for the first term.

Teacher enumerators who had just completed training at Bulawayo Polytechnic told NewZimbabwe.com that they were asked to hand over their census material to ZANU PF youths and leave the venue on Saturday. One of the teachers said:

All along, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency has been using state resources to train us, only to be told when we are about to be deployed that we were on strike and therefore we are not suitable for the job.

For starters, I have never been on strike. Now, who is going to pay me for the time I spent while undergoing the enumeration training?

Another affected teacher, who is now contemplating suing Zimstat for breach of contract, said the move is cruel, vindictive and illegal. Said the teacher:

The move to suspend teachers was declared illegal by the High Court.

Why are the government and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education so petty to the extent of denying the suffering teachers an opportunity to earn extra income for their children?

Zimstat spokesperson, Mercy Chidemo, said she had no information about the alleged incident at Bulawayo Polytechnic but said teachers who were deemed to be on strike were barred from participating in the census. She said:

I am not really sure about what happened, but I am sure you are aware of a memo that was sent to PSC [Public Service Commission] that they should not hire teachers who were on strike.

So, in this case, the PSC coordinators were responsible for recruiting the enumerators.

There were teachers that were on incapacitation/strike that had sneaked into classes.

So the PED (provincial education director) said they should not participate and they sent them packing yesterday evening.

They were replaced by other teachers from MoPSE (Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education).

Robert Mugabe Under Fire For Embracing Dad’s Tormentors

Credit: The Standard

By Dr Stop It !

I really don’t understand why Junior would want to be cozy with his father’s tormentors. The very people that Baba rejected on his dying bed.

I was tempted to think that he wants to destroy the party from inside, but then that’s an awful strategy.

Jonso with all his political acumen and big education tried that, but where is he today?

So destroying from inside is naive and I don’t think Junior has got what it takes.

That boy has Baba’s name, but he goes on to betray Gushungo in such fashion.

I need to have a word with him or I am disinheriting him for betraying Baba.

To be clear, these people tormented Baba when he was alive and now they are tormenting him in death.

That whole exhumation ruse is the continuation of Baba’s tormentation.

Why Junior would want to even associate with these people beats me.

And that profit that he spends his time with really gets on my nerves.

I did well with Bona, but I feel with the boys I have been a terrible parent.

Baba is surely turning in his grave.

Speaking of children, whatever happened to Bertha, Dougie’s daughter, she’s gone silent. I’m beginning to worry about her well-being.

You see, Bertha was very vocal about her father’s supposed political support.

In fact, she thought he was going to be the next president.

But the March by-elections have put Dougie in his place and effectively silenced his loudmouth daughter.

Just like her father, her silence on Twitter has been deafening since that epic harvest of zeros.

To be fair, I’m not attacking Dougie’s family and I’m not being personal, but Bertha is fair game because of the way she was toxic on social media where she hallucinated about her father’s supposed support.

The by-elections were a rude awakening and I don’t think we will be hearing from Madam Bertha for a while.

Did she really think her father would win elections or was she doing it for “likes” on social media, kkk?

Maybe I’m being hard on her, let’s wait for 2023, maybe their fortunes will improve.

A key question though is what’s next for Dougie. The posturing is over and his support or lack thereof is now clear.

In fact, he is now literally a footnote in Zimbabwe’s political history.

Zimbabweans do love distractions and petty arguments.

In the past few days the debate has been whether CCC is a new party or not.

CCC say they are a new party formed before the by-elections. They lost their name, money and parliamentary seats to Dougie.

While this may seem unimportant, it gives them bragging rights that a one-month old party achieved as much as they did in the by-elections.

On the other hand, Zanu PF argues that CCC is nothing but old wine in a new cask. The faces are the same, the strategy the same, they argue.

I won’t get involved in the argument, but just to say if the CCC isn’t new, what is new about the so-called new dispensation?

Launchmore has been part of the government for 42 years.

Oppah, Kembo, Mudenda etc have all been in the echelons of power for donkey years and today you want to tell me there’s anything new about them.

What a joke, kkk.

I hope you now realise why this is a silly debate.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Elvis Nyathi.

Nyathi died in the most gruesome manner possible, first being pelted with rocks before being burned.

Nobody deserves to die in such a cruel manner.

One thing though that we have to discuss is that if Zimbabwe had employment opportunities, people like Elvis would not have found reason to go to South Africa.

Everyday we are bombarded with statistics of how well the economy is doing and how low our unemployment rate is.

If these stats were any true, then there would be more jobs created and there would be no reason for people to go to South Africa for jobs.

The death of Elvis is regrettable and would have been avoided if this country provided economic opportunities for its citizens.

That Elvis died in South Africa is a stain on the conscience of all Zimbabweans and is an illustration of this government’s endemic failures.

Don’t get me wrong, migration to South Africa is as old as colonialism, but what’s worrying is the sheer volumes of people that are leaving Zimbabwe for neighbouring countries.

Instead of posturing and issuing pointless statements, there is need for soul searching from the government.

As long as the economy isn’t conducive, more Zimbabweans will trek to South Africa and this will give rise to xenophobia.

Bulawayo City Coach Claims Players Were Bribed

Bulawayo City coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube has claimed that some of his players engaged in match-fixing after his side lost 2-0 to FC Platinum on Saturday.

City conceded the goals in the second following howlers from both the defenders and keeper Bhekimpilo Ncube.

The goalie was later replaced by Reward Muza.

Speaking after the match Ncube said: “You cannot rule out match fixing considering how we conceded those goals.

“A seasoned goalkeeper comes out when the striker and the defender are 50/50, he cries that the ball is his, we concede again the next thing we substitute him, he limps.”

The gaffer added: “We played a team (FC Platinum) that perhaps outplayed us for the entire game. The way they played and the way we played, we deserved to lose. We failed to come out of our shelves and hence we conceded two stupid goals.”

The defeat was City’s seventh defeat in this season, with their only win of the season coming against Highlanders at the end of February.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Caps United Dismiss Yadah

CAPS United jumped into the seventh position after beating Yadah 1-0 in a matchday 11 encounter played on Sunday.

The Green Machine got their winning goal in the 38th minute through Phineas Bamusi, who slotted home a loose ball off Valentine Musarurwa’s corner-kick.

The home team managed to hold on to their lead until the end of the game but were reduced to ten-man when Marshall Machazane received a straight red card for a crude challenge on an opponent.

Meanwhile, Yadah remains in the drop zone following the result in Harare.

Elsewhere, Highlanders came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against Cranborne Bullets.

Bosso conceded two quick goals in the early stages of the half and were later forced to make a tactical change just after the half-hour mark.

The team soon launched their comeback, with the equaliser coming in the 77th minute through Lynoth Chikuwa.

In another Matchday 11 encounter, Bulawayo Chiefs drew 0-0 against Manica Diamonds in Mutare.

Jordan Zemura Suffers Terrible Injury

Jordan Zemura suffered an injury on Saturday when he limped off in Bournemouth’s 0-0 against Sheffield United.

Zemura hobbled off during the closing stages of the game, and according to coach Scott Parker, the 22-year-old suffered a hamstring problem.

Asked for an update on the player’s injury, Parker told the Daily Echo: “It doesn’t look great. I’m not surprised, because you’re asking a human being to do a three-game week, two away games.

“The turnaround is remarkable. Today, 12.45pm kick-off or whatever it was.

“These players are humans and soft tissue injuries come through fatigue, come from overwork and it looks like Jordan maybe have suffered with a bit of a hamstring injury.

“I worried about that a little bit before the game. Those were the things on my mind really in that sense.

“I know how fit my squad are – we are the fittest factually in this division.

“The intensity we play at, I know those demands are pretty high. It’s just a shame that today one has had to suffer a little bit in Jordan, just back-end.”

This is the second time this season that Zemura has suffered an injury. He spent over a month on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury in November.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Liverpool, Manchester City Share Spoils

Liverpool twice came from behind to keep the Premier League title race on a knife edge with a pulsating 2-2 draw at Manchester City.

Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected effort gave champions City a sixth-minute lead but the visitors were back on terms seven minutes later at the Etihad Stadium through Diogo Jota.

Gabriel Jesus — a surprise selection — sprung the Liverpool offside trap to score his first Premier League goal since September in the 37th minute, but Mohamed Salah played in Sadio Mane to give the visitors a flying start to the second period.

There was no let-up in the attacking intent but neither side could find a winner, meaning Pep Guardiola’s men remain a point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side at the summit with seven games remaining.

Guardiola opted for an aggressive front three of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Jesus and, after Sterling drew an early save from Alisson at close quarters, De Bruyne’s strike spun off Joel Matip to leave the Liverpool goalkeeper with no chance.

Liverpool responded impressively, with Trent Alexander-Arnold knocking Andy Robertson’s floated ball back across goal for Jota to score his 15th Premier League goal of the season.

But it was City’s attacking full-backs who were the story of the opening period. Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo each rampaged forward and the Portugal international’s lovely floated pass found Jesus’ probing run for him to lift a clever finish beyond his compatriot in the Liverpool goal.

Foden flashed a couple of dangerous balls across the face of the Reds’ box and Klopp’s men needed half-time. After the break, they were transformed.

Salah ducked into midfield to produce a delicious pass. Walker played Mane onside and a dead-eyed finish followed.

Jota forced a sharp stop from Ederson shortly afterwards but, although it was a more even contest in the second period, the better chances still fell City’s way.

Sterling coolly rolled the ball home, only to be denied by a VAR offside after the hour and a newly emboldened Jesus lashed wastefully into the side netting.

Perhaps the best chance arrived deep into stoppage time as the indomitable De Bruyne strode through midfield and released City’s top scorer Riyad Mahrez. The substitute spied a Hollywood moment but sent his chip sailing over.- Sporting News

Health Tips: Air Quality Guidelines

WHO Air Quality Guidelines;
monitor air quality and identify sources of air pollution;
support the transition to exclusive use of clean household energy for cooking, heating and lighting;
build safe and affordable public transport systems and pedestrian- and cycle-friendly networks;
implement stricter vehicle emissions and efficiency standards; and enforce mandatory inspection and maintenance for vehicles;
invest in energy-efficient housing and power generation;
improve industry and municipal waste management;
reduce agricultural waste incineration, forest fires and certain agro-forestry activities (e.g. charcoal production); and
include air pollution in curricula for health professionals and providing tools for the health sector to engage.

Malawi Police Arrest Journalist, Demand Source of Information

Malawi police on 4 April 2022 raided the offices of Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ), where they arrested the outfit’s managing director Gregory Gondwe.

The police confiscated Gondwe’s computers and phones in what they described as a normal crime-busting exercise.

The police also demanded that Gondwe release the names of his sources.

Nyasa Times reported that National Police publicist, James Kadadzera, confirmed the arrest, saying the investigative journalist was picked over a story published in relation to huge sums of money the Anti-Corruption Bureau reportedly paid to businessman, Zuneth Sattar, against the advice of the Attorney-General, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda.

Gondwe was released a few hours later, without any charges being preferred against him. His gadgets have since been returned.

The Malawi Human Rights Commission has since indicated that it will investigate Gondwe’s arrest.

MISA is worried at the increasing number of arbitrary arrests of journalists in Malawi.

Of particular concern to MISA is that the law enforcement agents demanded that Gondwe reveal his sources.

Malawi’s Access to Information Act protects the rights of whistleblowers and in this regard, the police should not have arrested Gondwe demanding him to reveal his sources.

Furthermore, MISA calls on the Malawian government to enact laws that have clauses that specifically protect journalists’ sources.

This promotes transparency and accountability and enhances access to information.

For instance, Section 61 of the Zimbabwean Constitution protects the confidentiality of journalists’ sources of information.

MISA urges the MHRC to leave no stone unturned in investigating the circumstances leading to Gondwe’s arrest and all those implicated should be brought to book.

Opposition Activist Who Was Sprayed With A Dangerous Chemical Removed From Remand

By A Correspondent| Two Harare residents Lengwani Mavhunga and Munyaradzi Mafararikwa have been set free today and removed from remand after they were arrested, detained and tortured in April 2021 before being charged with obstructing or endangering free movement of persons or traffic.

Mavhunga and Mafararikwa, who were represented by Webster Jiti of the ZimbabweLawyers for Human Rights, were hospitalised at Parirenyatwa Hospital after they were assaulted and tortured in detention while Mavhunga’s face was sprayed with a white substance.

In removing the duo from remand, the Magistrate ruled that Mavhunga and Mafararikwa have a right to a fair trial and public trial within a reasonable time of which they were not tried since they were arrested on 15 April 2021.

Prosecutors were ordered to proceed by summoning the two if they intend to prosecute them again.

Second Voter Registration Exercise Launched

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on Monday launches the second phase of its mobile voter registration exercise after the first outreach in February.

ZEC registered 81,742 new voters in the first exercise which ran between February 1 and 28.The latest campaign, which has fewer registration centres, will end on April 30.In a statement on Sunday, ZEC said centres would open from 7AM until 5.30PM.

Masvingo province will have the most registration centres, 276 in total, while Bulawayo has the least – 81.Prospective voters must be 18 or over. They are required to carry proof of identity – an ID card or passport – as well as proof of residence, in the absence of which they would be required to fill out an affidavit.

The latest phase of the mobile voter registration exercise coincides with a similar exercise being carried out by the Civil Registry Department to issue out IDs.

The government has lifted some of the cumbersome requirements to obtain identity cards, a cabinet minister told parliament last Wednesday.

Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, who is also the leader of government business in the National Assembly, said: “President Mnangagwa went to Tsholotsho some time. He also sent the minister of local government to the San community and they faced more or less the same problems.”

After that, a discussion was done in cabinet and he directed that everyone without a national identity document must be given one.

So there is no problem, everyone, you can take anyone to the Registrar General’s office and give them the surname Biti, Biti, Biti, it is now allowed, the president has allowed it.

“Ziyambi’s comments appeared to suggest that past requirements for people to present their parents’ IDs or death certificates to obtain identity documents have been removed where one is unable to get the documents for whatever reason.

Deputy home affairs minister Ruth Mavhunga-Maboyi said there was a “waiver for those who are staying in rural areas,” adding: “We have the sabhukus, we have headmen, we have chiefs, they are going to write letters in order that these issues be addressed.”

Ramaphosa Condemns Vigilantes Kicking Out Undocumented Foreigners

By A Correspondent- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned vigilantes in his country for demanding that foreign nationals produce identification.

In a letter to South Africans, Ramaphosa reminded his compatriots that only a police member or immigration officer can ask for identity documents.

This comes after a Zimbabwean national, Elvis Nyathi, was brutally murdered by a mob in Diepsloot, Johannesburg on Wednesday last week after he failed to produce identity documents.

Anti-immigrant activists under Operation Dudula have also been moving door-to-door in several parts of South Africa kicking undocumented foreigners out of their homes.

Ramaphosa assured South Africans that his government was prioritising the enforcement of migration legislation. Part of his letter read:

No private citizen may assume the role of immigration or law enforcement authorities by demanding that foreign nationals produce identification.

Under Section 41 of the Immigration Act, only a police member or immigration officer can ask someone to identify themselves as a citizen, permanent resident or foreign national.

If these officers believe, on reasonable grounds, that the person is in the country unlawfully, they may be detained while an investigation into their status is conducted.

When doing so, law enforcement authorities must respect that person’s rights and dignity. They may not do so in a manner that is degrading or humiliating.

Enforcement of migration legislation is a priority for the government. We are working to ensure that syndicates perpetrating immigration fraud in collusion with corrupt officials are brought to book. This year alone, several people implicated in passport fraud have been arrested.

No private citizen or group has the right to enter businesses and demand its owners produce proof that their businesses are registered or legal.

This is the competence of municipal, provincial or national authorities, including inspectors from the Department of Employment and Labour and the South African Revenue Service.
Like all other businesses, foreign-owned businesses must obey the relevant laws, including health and safety regulations, have all the required permits and licences, and pay the necessary taxes.

We are a democracy founded on the rule of law. Acts of lawlessness directed at foreign nationals, whether they are documented or undocumented, cannot be tolerated.

Attacking those we suspect of wrongdoing merely because they are foreign nationals is not an act of patriotism.

It is immoral, racist and criminal. In the end, it will lead to xenophobia, whose consequences we have lived through in previous years.

We do not want to go back there because in the main the people of South Africa are not xenophobic.

Russia, Ukraine Conflict Reverberates Globally

By A Correspondent- The Russia and Ukraine conflict, which has spawned a surge in global food prices and disruption of world markets and supply chains, has been a wake-up call for Zimbabwe on the need to ensure food security, President Mnangagwa has said.

In his weekly column published in The Sunday Mail yesterday, President Mnangagwa said a new world order was emerging, and Zimbabwe must respond appropriately and creatively to keep abreast with fast moving global events.

“Foremost, Zimbabwe must be a food-secure nation. This means ensuring our agriculture is modernised through mechanisation for greater efficiencies and productivity. We will not stop at anything to achieve food security for our nation,” he said.

“For that to happen, we need to secure vital inputs for our agricultural sector. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with the resultant turbulence in global food prices, is a wake-up call to us all. Global supply chains both for fertilisers and grains stand imperilled by that conflict situation.”

President Mnangagwa said Russia and Ukraine were big players in the global economy, principally in the key sectors of technologies, agriculture and energy.

“The ongoing conflict between them has reverberated globally, including disrupting world markets and supply chains, all against post-pandemic fragilities already afflicting the world,” he said.

President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe will have to respond appropriately to the developments taking place.

“A new world order is emerging, and Zimbabwe must respond appropriately and creatively, so it is not sidelined or placed on the receiving end of these fast-paced global changes.

Our activities in the past two months, and going forward, should be understood from that broad, regional, continental and global perspective,” he said.

President Mnangagwa noted that Zimbabwe had equally been a victim of unilateralism where illegal sanctions were imposed by the West just as NATO was provocatively making an eastward expansion.

Zanu Pf Tears Into Herman Mashaba

By A Correspondent- The ZANU PF Youth League has urged the ANC Youth League to push the South African government to bring to justice the people who murdered a Zimbabwean national, Elvis Nyathi, in Diepsloot, Johannesburg on Wednesday night.

In an open letter to the ANC Youth League, the ZANU PF Youth League’s Acting National Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tendai Chirau criticised opposition politician Herman Mashaba and Operation Dudula for allegedly inciting xenophobia. Said Chirau:

The ZANU PF Youth League registers with utter horror, the unchecked rise of xenophobia, ethnic brutality and Afrophobia being carried out against African non-South African citizens by vigilantes calling themselves “Operation Dudula”, inspired by inflammatory utterances from charlatans like Herman Mashaba, and fronted by Rhodie pawns such as Nhlanhla Lux.

This depravity recently culminated in the brutal and needless lynching of Mr Elvis Nyathi, a Zimbabwean national in Diepsloot, Gauteng province.

As the ZANU PF Youth League, we remain forever alive to the fact that black South Africans, including all fellow Africans, are our brothers and sisters with whom we share a bond of history, identity and culture which predates the artificial boundaries and ethnic divisions forced upon us by the racist colonial powers during the 1884-1886 Berlin Conference, which our ancestors were never a party to.

We are all Bantus who migrated from one point of origin, and our “Ubuntu” ethos has consistently united us against all forms of adversity. Africa is the home for all indigenous “brown” people.

Nyathi (43), was dragged from his shack in the slum area after he failed to produce identity documents and the R300 that was demanded by the vigilantes.

The mob assaulted him and set his body on fire just a few metres from home.

Air Force Helicopter Crashes In Mhondoro

An Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) helicopter reportedly crashed yesterday near Chibhero College in Mhondoro, but police and army officials were coy on details about its passengers and possible casualties.

Impeccable sources told NewsDay that the crash occurred yesterday afternoon near Chibhero College in Mhondoro.

Police sources also confirmed the crash, which saw top officials attending the crash site.

Military and police details also cordoned off the site, making it inaccessible.

The sources said the crash took place in the area where a helicopter carrying President Emmerson Mnangagwa was forced to crash land after developing a technical fault while he was returning to the capital from his Precabe Farm in Kwekwe.

“The crash was in the same area where Mnangagwa’s helicopter almost crashed,” the source said.

“The road leading to the accident scene was cordoned off, and no one was allowed there. We are not yet aware who was involved in the accident, and if there were any casualties.

“Zimbabwe National Army spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore said he could not comment on the matter.”I am not in the air force, I am in the army,” he curtly said yesterday.

AFZ public relations officer, Simon Matingwina yesterday acknowledged the crash but said it was not an air force helicopter.

“I know about the crash, but it’s not our helicopter. I think Mhondoro police attended the scene,” he said last night.

Efforts to get a comment from police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi were fruitless as he was not picking up calls.

This is not the first time that an air force chopper has crashed in the country.Last April, an AFZ helicopter — Agusta Bell AB 412 — crashed in a farming area in Arcturus, 30km east of the capital killing three crew members and a child as it came down on a house.

Two months later, another chopper, an Mi-35 helicopter gunship, with five aircraft technicians on board crash-landed near oil expresser Surface Wilmar in Chitungwiza.

She received a standing ovation from guests when she described Tinashe as her last destiny. She thanked him for wiping away her tears, restoring her dignity and comforting her and promised to be faithful until her death. Tinashe, fixing his eyes on Mai TT’s face while holding her left hand, could not hold back his tears as his bride spoke.

He removed his spectacles, wiped off his tears, looked at Mai TT and cried even more

Marriage officer, Reverend Musasa of Apostolic Faith in Zimbabwe, had given the couple time to dedicate their vows.

“I want to give the bride and groom time to give their vows, expressing what they feel and what they can promise each other,” said Rev Musasa.

Zanu PF Youths Speak On Elvis Nyathi’s Brutal Murder

Mnangagwa Falls Into Coup Dangers Triggered By July Moyo

Emmerson Mnangagwa  has fallen into coup danger  caused by Local Govt Minister July Moyo, Parliament heard last week.

Minister Moyo was accused of creating tribal divisions in what now jeophadizes national security. This was during a debate with Norton MP Temba Mliswa, and below is the transcript.

HON. J. MOYO: Madam Speaker, the Constitution, regarding the devolution agenda that is captured in the Constitution of 2013 is in two Chapters.  There is Chapter 14 of the Constitution which deals with all the political and administrative set up of the devolution institutions, both at provincial and local authority level. The financial provisions are in Chapter 17 and every time the Minister of Finance comes to this august House, he presents that this House adopts, which is debated and adopted and it is in that Chapter where he has been given the powers to finance devolution funds to provincial and local authorities.
The local authorities and provincial council are there, what has not been there is the metropolitan councils. The Provincial Councils and Administration Act is still not repealed and therefore it is still there. We can make amendments of that Act but it is an Act of Parliament which was passed here, which is called the Provincial Councils and Administration Act. We can amend it as we are doing to comply with the provisions of the Constitution and we are doing exactly that.
HON. T. MLISWA: The law does not work in anticipation because you are changing this law and you do not use it. You use the current law. The law requires you to talk about what is there before it is amended. The point here is, the provincial councils have been set up and Members of Parliament are members of the provincial council. Some are being paid. Why do you pay others and others you do not pay? You have not sworn anybody in. You are totally violating the Constitution. Hon Ziyambi will tell you that the law does not work in anticipation. The current law that we have which has not been changed is very clear that there must be an enabling Act which comes through.
You hate Members of Parliament with a passion and we understand that. It is the law that put them there. You cannot say these other members, you pay and other members you do not. When did you swear in those that you are paying Hon Minister? The question that you have got provincial councilors who are being paid were not sworn in. They are not sitting. You are creating the biggest violation of the Constitution ever.
THE HON. DEPUTY SPEAKER: Hon. Mliswa, please, ask your question.
HON. T. MLISWA: My question is that he cannot continue to disburse money to pay other provincial members selectively without the Bill coming here. This is the very same section which got the late President Mugabe out of power – this devolution one. It is one of the reasons why he was removed from power because he was not constitutional. You are putting the President in trouble again. Being a lawyer, I hope he sees that. Hon Ziyambi, advise the President honestly. This is the biggest scam of looting funds. This Minister has been looting funds.
THE MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS (HON. J. MOYO): I want to say and I want to repeat that Chapter 17 of the Constitution gives the Minister of Finance the right to finance those institutions which are there and the Minister of Finance in the Blue book which your Parliamentary Legal Committee has looked at, is giving provincial councils monies to local authorities. My job as Minister, once that allocation has been made, is to make sure that the monies are used properly. The law that we are using is the Provincial Councils Administration Act; the law we are using for the Rural District Councils is the Rural District Councils Act and the law we are using is the Urban Councils Act. That is what we are doing – [HON T. MLISWA: Arikuba mari mudhara uyu. Jeri rinorwadza wachembera.] – Madam Speaker, I need your protection – [HON MEMBERS: Inaudible interjections.]-
THE HON. DEPUTY SPEAKER: Hon Members to my left side, please behave like Hon Members in Parliament. I will not allow you to continue that behaviour Hon. Members. Hon. Mliswa, you said this old man is stealing money, please withdraw that statement.
HON. T. MLISWA: Madam Speaker, I listen to you very much. There are so many old men in this House. Which old man?
THE HON. DEPUTY SPEAKER: The one who was speaking.
HON. T. MLISWA: Does he not have a name? I know him as Sekuru July Moyo. Because I respect you, I withdraw what I said that the old man is stealing some funds.
HON. T. MLISWA:  On a point of order Madam Speaker, the Hon. Minister diligently articulated how he is going to bring the Bill here.  So why are you bringing the Bill here when you are telling us what you are doing is right?  I told you that you cannot bring a Bill here if you are doing the right thing.  Minister, this august House must be known to have said no to the disbursement of devolution funds because certain things were not in place.  The devolution money is being looted.  Central Government is paying directly to companies instead of using a proper structure.  Provincial councillors are responsible for monitoring and evaluating of that money.  Who is monitoring those funds if the provincial councillors are not there?  Minister, you are contradicting yourself.  He is disbursing this money willy-nilly for him to benefit and he has been very inconsistent.  The Minister must know that we are watching and he has been running away.  Tsuro magen’a haaite totomubata chete tsuro wacho.  Today we caught the hare.  You are here today and until we conclude this issue, nothing is going to happen in this country.  The President is being told corruption is there because it is being said we are not doing our oversight role.  We are doing our oversight role and this Minister is failing to respond to issues of money which are of a corrupt nature.  Jeri haridi makura kudai sekuru munevhudzi rewhite – [HON. MEMBERS: Inaudible interjections.] –

*On the motion of HON. TOGAREPI, seconded by HON. TEKESHE, the House adjourned at Three Minutes past Six o’clock p.m. *
