Chief Ndiweni: South African Election Results Signal Hope for Zimbabwe

Chief Ndiweni with Nelson Chamisa

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – 6th June 2024- Chief Felix Ndiweni has issued a comprehensive statement on the recent South African election results, highlighting their potential implications for Zimbabwe. The elections, held on May 29, 2024, saw the African National Congress (ANC) fail to secure a majority for the first time in three decades, garnering only 40% of the vote. This has resulted in the formation of a coalition government, with the Democratic Alliance (DA), Mkhonto we Sizwe (MK), and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as potential partners.

Chief Ndiweni emphasized the significance of this development, noting that a coalition government often places substantial power in the hands of the smaller parties within the coalition.

“A coalition government in a democratic setup often places substantial power in the hands of the smaller parties within the coalition,” Ndiweni stated. “This dynamic could see the ANC constrained by its coalition partners, who could demand substantial concessions and influence governance from behind the scenes.”

Chief Ndiweni highlighted the strategic missteps of Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF, which had openly supported the ANC, potentially jeopardizing its standing with any new South African coalition government. He detailed the adverse public sentiment in South Africa towards Zanu PF, noting the widespread rejection of “Zanu PF style politics” among South African opposition parties and the public.

“The ANC’s failure to secure a majority is a significant blow to Zanu PF, which has openly supported the ANC. This miscalculation could jeopardize their standing with any new coalition government in South Africa,” he remarked. “The widespread rejection of Zanu PF style politics among South African opposition parties and the public is a clear signal that change is on the horizon.”

The statement also addressed historical grievances, such as the Ndebele Genocide and the Gukurahundi massacres, stressing the potential for increased scrutiny and pressure on Zanu PF from the new South African coalition government.

“These historical injustices could gain renewed attention and possibly lead to calls for international legal action against Zanu PF,” Ndiweni warned. “The crimes committed during the Gukurahundi massacres are not forgotten, and the new coalition in South Africa might take a stronger stance on these issues.”

Chief Ndiweni also pointed out that the new political landscape in South Africa could foster stronger alliances among opposition parties in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, particularly with Zambia and Malawi. This could lead to a more unified and robust stance against undemocratic practices and human rights abuses in Zimbabwe.

“The new political landscape in South Africa could lead to stronger alliances among opposition parties in the SADC region,” he explained. “This unified stance could exert significant pressure on Zimbabwe to adhere to democratic principles and respect human rights.”

The Chief underscored the importance of the Zimbabwean diaspora’s participation in future elections, bolstered by the supportive stance of the new South African coalition. He called for active engagement from the diaspora to ensure their voting rights are recognized and enforced in upcoming elections.

“With the supportive stance of the new South African coalition, the Zimbabwean diaspora must seize this opportunity to ensure their voting rights are recognized and enforced,” Ndiweni urged. “Active engagement from the diaspora is crucial for the future of Zimbabwean democracy.”

Chief Ndiweni concluded by expressing hope that the South African election results represent a turning point for Zimbabwe, potentially heralding the end of Zanu PF’s grip on power and ushering in a new era of genuine democratic governance in the region.

“The recent election results in South Africa could be a turning point for Zimbabwe,” he concluded. “This is a chance for us to break free from Zanu PF’s grip on power and usher in a new era of genuine democratic governance. The region’s political climate is now conducive to significant reform and the promotion of democratic principles.”

Chief Ndiweni’s statement comes at a crucial time for Zimbabwe, offering a message of hope and a call to action for all Zimbabweans, both at home and abroad.

UK: Body Found in Search for Missing Xielo Maruziva

By A Correspondent | June 8, 2024 – Leicester, UK — A body has been discovered in the search for two-year-old Xielo Maruziva, who disappeared in February. Leicestershire Police confirmed the find on Thursday morning in Aylestone Meadows near the River Soar, where the toddler was last seen.

Xielo Maruziva was reported missing on February 18 after he fell into the River Soar while with family members. Despite an initial search, the story failed to garner significant media attention, raising critical questions about the handling and publicity of the case.

Xielo Maruziva

The absence of widespread media coverage in February might have hindered the search efforts. The lack of public awareness and pressure on authorities potentially delayed vital community involvement and additional resources that could have been mobilized in the critical early hours and days of the search.

Assistant Chief Constable Michaela Kerr expressed her condolences, stating, “This is devastating news, and our thoughts are with Xielo’s family. We are so sorry to bring them this news, which we were all dreading, and our full support is being provided to them at this most difficult time.”

Critics are questioning why the case did not make headlines in February, arguing that more extensive media coverage could have prompted a swifter and more comprehensive response from both the public and law enforcement. The initial lack of visibility of Xielo’s disappearance has led to calls for a review of police and media protocols in missing persons cases, especially those involving vulnerable children.

Formal identification of the body has yet to take place, and the coroner has been informed. Meanwhile, Xielo’s family is being supported by specialist officers. “Formal identification will now take place, and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time,” Kerr added. “Full support is also being provided to the workers who were in the area of Aylestone Meadows this morning, and I want to thank them for their support and co-operation in the most horrendous and unimaginable circumstances.”

The community’s and the public’s engagement in such cases is crucial, and the lack of immediate and sustained media focus on Xielo’s disappearance remains a troubling aspect of this tragedy. The case highlights the need for a more proactive approach in raising awareness about missing children to ensure comprehensive search efforts and swift action from all relevant parties.

As the investigation continues, many hope that lessons learned from Xielo Maruziva’s case will lead to improved responses in future incidents, ensuring that no other family has to endure a similar ordeal in relative obscurity.

FULL TRANSCRIPT: MNANGAGWA TALKING TO VLADMIR PUTIN

The beginning of Russia‒Zimbabwe talks in the restricted format

PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA VLADIMIR PUTIN:

Mr President,

I am delighted to welcome you to Russia.

Our previous meeting also took place here in St Petersburg, at the RUSSIA‒AFRICA SUMMIT, and we truly appreciate your personal involvement in developing our interstate ties.

Russia‒Zimbabwe relations were established a long time ago when your nation was struggling for independence, and they continue to advance extensively. I was pleased to note that our MUTUAL TRADE increased severalfold over the past year. However, it is clear that we still have much work to do in diversifying our ties.

We have very good relations in the humanitarian and educational sectors. Currently, 400 YOUNG PEOPLE from your country are studying in Russia, and we increase this quota on a regular basis.

I appreciate your involvement in our joint persistent efforts in the international arena. Our stances on the core issues on the international agenda are quite similar and even coinciding.

I am glad to have this opportunity to meet with you on the sidelines of the St PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM. I am confident that your presence here will serve as a testimony to the African continent’s interest in developing relations with Russia, which is among our priorities.

We have agreed to make efforts to enhance our cooperation, and have also created new interaction formats, such as meetings and consultations between our foreign ministers. We hope that your representative will attend such a meeting that will take place in Sochi this autumn.

Welcome, Mr President.

PRESIDENT OF ZIMBABWE EMMERSON Dambudzo MNANGAGWA:

Thank you very much, Your Excellency President Putin.

May I, on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe, the government, and indeed on my own behalf, extend my warmest regards to you. I am so happy that you were able to invite me to come here to meet you. This is an opportunity, Your Excellency, that I have been looking forward to, because Zimbabwe and the Russian Federation have excellent relations, and it is critically important that we make them more comprehensive and share the challenges that we are facing.

Commonly, the challenges that you face are the same challenges that we face in Southern Africa, because we are one of the few countries in Southern Africa that is regarded as ANTI-WEST, and I feel so humbled that you have extended an invitation for me to come over here. This is an opportunity where we can share the challenges that we face both at the national level and at the international level, because we have relations with Western countries. But most importantly, it is an opportunity to consolidate them, to identify areas where we can pursue cooperation between our two countries and consolidate, and make them more comprehensive between ourselves. There is no need to shy away from each other. I think our pursuit in terms of international relations is the same.

We were disregarded as an isolated island in Southern Africa, but I am anxious that we develop comprehensive relations with the RUSSIAN FEDERATION, and I can assure you that I have that determination on my part. And much more so, you yourself, as the President, as well as the Russian Federation, have support in Zimbabwe. You see, we have received support, we received FOOD ALLOCATIONS from yourselves last year, and we have received cooperation in the MILITARY AND SECURITY SECTOR. That alone, as you continue to do so, we continuously become ISOLATED IN OUR REGION. But we are determined to be ourselves, we are determined to be independent.

We DON’T CARE WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES SAY about us, you know, under President Mugabe. And there was this Prime Minister in Britain, and the relations just ended there. And thereafter, most of the BRITISH AND AMERICANS, they have not looked upon us; they think that we are too inclined to the East. But we have no apologies at all. We feel we have better relations with the people who also RESPECT US, not the persons who look down upon us. So we are very happy to be here. We are anxious to have more comprehensive and concentrated relations between ourselves. Yes, we are a VERY ADVANCED COUNTRY; but there is a lot that we can learn from you and there is a lot that will benefit from that relationship. And there is a lot that we can open for the Russian Federation to participate in our economy, especially in the MINING SECTOR AND AGRICULTURE. There is a lot that we can afford for you to participate.

And in that process, the WEST WILL RUN AWAY. You see, the West has just begun CONSOLIDATING ITS POWER IN ZAMBIA, our next neighbour. You know, there was a time when Zambia and Zimbabwe were one; it was called Northern and Southern Rhodesia. It was made one by the British, but they are now separate. And the Americans are consolidating their power in that country, both in terms of SECURITY and in terms of FINANCIAL SUPPORT to Zambia to make sure that we feel lonely. But that will not change us, because we have taken a course as a people that we feel we want to be independent and we will choose OUR FRIENDS ourselves. And besides, we are independent today because most of us in the LEADERSHIP TRAINED HERE during our war of liberation. We got our INDEPENDENCE because we are supported by yourselves here, and we don’t forget that history, and you don’t forget about us.

So, Mr President, I am happy to be here. If an opportunity avails later on – I mean, we will find time to chat and go into more detail as to which areas we must focus on in terms of supporting each other and in terms of where we feel we need external support, especially in the area of difference in SECURITY as well as FOOD SECURITY. Those areas we need to be supported in – the MECHANISATION OF AGRICULTURE and so on. We cannot go to the West; we have to come here because the West would want to see us down. They support our neighbours, ZAMBIA AND MALAWI, very heavily. But in spite of that, Zimbabwe’s economic growth is the FASTEST GROWING ECONOMY in the region, in spite of us being isolated by the Americans.

So, Your Excellency, I am very happy to be here.

Tsvangirai Exposes Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

In a startling revelation, Norton Member of Parliament Richard Tsvangirai has highlighted the dire conditions at the main hospital in his constituency.

The hospital is grappling with a severe shortage of essential drugs, crumbling infrastructure, and overwhelmed facilities, painting a grim picture of the healthcare system’s current state.

“I spent my morning at Norton Hospital with the NTC portfolio committee on health and environment,” Tsvangirai reported. His visit underscored the urgent need for intervention.

“The hospital is in a bad state; there’s a shortage of emergency drugs; the infrastructure is old and overwhelmed; and the maternity wards are in a dire state,” he detailed, emphasizing the breadth of the crisis.

The situation at Norton Hospital reflects broader systemic issues within Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector, which has been plagued by underfunding, mismanagement, and neglect for years. Tsvangirai did not mince words in attributing blame.

“This is a clear indication of government negligence towards the health care system,” he declared, calling attention to the urgent need for government accountability and action.

The health crisis at Norton Hospital is particularly concerning given its role as a primary healthcare provider for the constituency.

The lack of emergency drugs means that the hospital is ill-equipped to handle urgent medical cases, potentially leading to preventable deaths and exacerbating the suffering of patients.

The state of the infrastructure and maternity wards further compounds the problem, putting additional strain on medical staff and jeopardizing patient care.

In response to the crisis, Tsvangirai announced plans to seek external support.

“I’ll be appealing to the donor community, business community, and well-wishers to help us improve the situation at Norton Hospital,” he said.

This appeal highlights the severity of the situation and the need for immediate, multifaceted intervention.

The call for help from the donor and business communities is a critical step towards addressing the immediate needs of Norton Hospital.

However, long-term solutions will require systemic reforms, substantial investment in healthcare infrastructure, and improved government policies to ensure sustainable improvement in the healthcare sector.

Tsvangirai’s revelations have sparked a wave of concern and urgency among residents and stakeholders.

The community is now looking towards both government and private entities to provide the necessary resources to alleviate the crisis.

The situation at Norton Hospital is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities in Zimbabwe’s healthcare system and the critical need for robust, sustained efforts to ensure that such crises do not recur.

As the appeal for aid gains momentum, the immediate priority is to restore adequate drug supplies, repair infrastructure, and improve the conditions in maternity wards.

However, this incident should also serve as a catalyst for broader discussions on healthcare reform in Zimbabwe, aiming to build a resilient system capable of meeting the needs of all its citizens.

In summary, the chaos at Norton Hospital is a somber reflection of the challenges facing Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.

It underscores the urgent need for immediate relief efforts and long-term systemic reforms to ensure that healthcare facilities are equipped to provide essential services to the population.

Fix Bad Roads, Mnangagwa Told

By A Correspondent

On Thursday, Hon. Mutsa Murombedzi, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) PR MP for Mashonaland Province, took a firm stand in Parliament, urging the government to address the deteriorating condition of roads in the Mhondoro area.

Her call for action underscores a broader concern about the state of infrastructure across Zimbabwe and the consequent risks to public safety.

Murombedzi highlighted a pressing issue that has been plaguing the nation: the unsafe and poorly maintained roads. In her address, she emphasized the direct correlation between the condition of the roads and the increasing number of traffic accidents.

“The poor state of the roads across the country has contributed to the rise of accidents,” she stated, putting a spotlight on a critical public safety concern.

Her remarks come at a time when the Mnangagwa administration is facing growing criticism over its handling of infrastructure development.

The state of the roads, in particular, has been a recurring complaint among citizens who have to navigate pothole-riddled and often unpaved routes, which not only damage vehicles but also pose significant hazards to motorists and pedestrians alike.

Murombedzi’s advocacy for road repairs is not just about improving transportation; it is also about safeguarding lives.

The increasing accident rates have led to loss of life and injuries, burdening the healthcare system and causing economic strain for families affected by these tragedies.

Her plea in Parliament was a call to prioritize infrastructure investment to mitigate these risks.

The CCC MP’s call to action highlights a broader narrative of accountability and governance.

By challenging the Mnangagwa administration, Murombedzi is pressing for transparency and efficiency in the use of public funds allocated for infrastructure.

The state of the roads is a visible and tangible measure of governmental performance and public service delivery.

As the debate over infrastructure investment continues, it is clear that the issue of road maintenance is not just a matter of convenience but one of urgent public safety.

The government’s response to this challenge will be closely watched by both citizens and political observers, as it will reflect the administration’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of its people.

In the meantime, Murombedzi’s advocacy serves as a reminder of the critical role that elected officials play in voicing the concerns of their constituents and holding the government accountable.

Her efforts to bring attention to the condition of roads in Mhondoro and beyond are a vital part of the democratic process, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and acted upon.

Tarisai Sithole was taken to court this Thursday charged with rape and robbery.

Allegations are that on the day of the alleged offence at around 5 PM, the complainant disembarked from a commuter omnibus at Simon Mazorodze Flyover in Mbare and she was approached by the accused and his colleague who is still at large.

The complainant reported the matter at Matapi police in Mbare where the accused allegedly followed and threatened her.

He was then apprehended and formally charged with rape and robbery.

Meanwhile, in another case, a 37-year-old man has been convicted of raping his biological daughter.

The man blamed his actions on alcohol with the magistrate saying there is no justification for his actions.

He is set to be sentenced this Friday.

“British-Spy” Mnangagwa Battles To Convince Putin To Attack Zambia So to Chase The West Out

-Mnangagwa Calls for Russian Arms to Defend Zimbabwe Against Zambia-

By Baba Jukwa | ZimEye | In a controversial move, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for Russian military support to defend Zimbabwe against perceived threats from neighboring Zambia. Speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of Russia’s Economic Forum, Mnangagwa suggested that deeper Russian involvement in Zimbabwe could deter Western influence in both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

“We can open for the Russian Federation to participate in our economy, especially in the mining sector and in agriculture. There is a lot that we can afford for you to participate in and with that process, the West will run away,” Mnangagwa stated. “You see, the West have just begun consolidating their power in Zambia, our next neighbour. You know there was a time when Zambia and Zimbabwe were one, it was called Northern and Southern Rhodesia, it was one, by the British. But we are now separate.”

Mnangagwa continued, highlighting the historical ties between the nations and their shared past under British colonial rule. He expressed concern over increasing American influence in Zambia, suggesting it was part of a broader strategy to isolate Zimbabwe. “The Americans are consolidating their power in that country, both in terms of security and financial support to Zambia to make sure that we feel lonely, but that will not change us. We have taken a course which as a people that we feel we want to be independent and we will choose our friends ourselves.”

He emphasized Zimbabwe’s historical relationship with Russia, referencing the support received during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle. “We are independent today because most of us in the leadership trained here during our war of liberation. We got our independence because we were supported by yourselves here and we do not forget that history; and you have stood by us.”

Mnangagwa outlined specific areas where Zimbabwe seeks Russian assistance, particularly in defense and security, agriculture, and food security. “If opportunity avails later on, we may find time to chat and go into more details on which areas we must focus on in terms of supporting each other, and in terms of where we feel we need extra support more especially in the area of Defence And Security, as well as food security. We can’t go to the West; we have to come here because the West would want to see us down.”

The call for Russian arms to defend self against Zambia suggests Mnangagwa himself is not connected to the West.

But Mnangagwa’s controversial history will now be exposed as multiple documents and videos revealed over the past seven years have shown Mnangagwa as more of NATO project, assisted by the British government to execute military coups between 1980 and 2017, which is over 37 years running. In one of these documents, Mnangagwa himself states that he was trained by British Rhodesian spy Dan Stannard.

A British House Of Lords debate has evidence that the British Govt has propped Mnangagwa up so that he takes over power.

An official war veterans’ press conference in Harare in 2019 revealed that Mnangagwa is a British mercenary. The late President Robert Mugabe had also alleged that Mnangagwa had been attempting coups since 1980 as part of British Rhodesian intelligence operations.

In November 2017, First Lady Dr. Grace Mugabe described Emmerson Mnangagwa as a “liquidator” and “ravisher,” accusing him of plotting coups as far back as 1980. At a rally in Harare, Dr. Mugabe stated, “From 1980, this person called Mnangagwa has always wanted to stage a coup. I am in a privileged position and I have the information. He actually wanted to wrestle power from the President. After the 1980 elections, Mnangagwa plotted a coup with the assistance of the whites. He advised the President to leave the country saying the whites wanted to kill him.”

She continued, “The President left for Mozambique and told Samora Machel. Machel directed President Mugabe to go back to Zimbabwe. The President went to see Julius Nyerere, but he found it unnecessary to talk about the coup plot. He had to talk about other things before going back to Zimbabwe. When the President called Mnangagwa from outside the country, Mnangagwa said ‘Don’t come back! Don’t come back!’ with the intention of staging a coup.”

Dr. Mugabe accused Mnangagwa of being a dissolute person who had taken President Mugabe for granted. She said, “This person has always been like that. Makhosini (Minister Hlongwane), that man is a liquidator. He is a ravisher. Go and look up what these words mean.”

In a passionate address, Dr. Mugabe insisted that Mnangagwa would not succeed in unconstitutionally removing President Mugabe from office, describing Mugabe as an “anointed leader.” She condemned factionalism within ZANU-PF and urged the party to work towards fulfilling their promises before the next elections.

Mnangagwa’s recent overture to Putin, coupled with his contentious past, has cast a shadow over his leadership and raised questions about his true allegiances and the stability of the region.

Another COS Scam: Lawrence Mudiwa Charamba Escapes With GBP62,000

New COS Scam Unfolds in Wake of Rumbidzai Madiri Scandal.

By A Correspondent | London, UK – June 7, 2024 | In the aftermath of the Rumbidzai Madiri scandal, another Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) scam has emerged, involving Zimbabwean national Mr. Lawrence Mudiwa Charamba, the operator of Luras Care Solution.

Mudiwa Charamba

In January 2024, a group of young individuals in the UK fell victim to a scam orchestrated by Charamba. They were deceived into transferring a total of £62,000, believing this payment would secure their Certificates of Sponsorship, facilitating their recruitment to the UK.

The funds were transferred in February 2024. However, shortly after receiving the payment, Charamba informed the victims that he could not fulfil his promises and agreed to issue refunds. The situation deteriorated when Charamba travelled to Zimbabwe for over six weeks, becoming unreachable and failing to process any refunds during that period.

Upon his return, the victims continued to face obstacles. Charamba offered a series of increasingly dubious excuses for the delay, claiming restrictions had been placed on his account, preventing him from making refunds. Despite multiple attempts to recover their money, the victims received inconsistent and deceptive responses, suggesting fraudulent intentions on Charamba’s part.

Efforts to contact both Lawrence Mudiwa Charamba and Luras Care Solution have so far been met with silence. The victims are left grappling with the loss of their substantial investment, with little hope for a swift resolution.

Loot… Lawrence Mudiwa Charamba

When contacted by ZimEye last week, Charamba promised via phone to make the payment within days. However, these promises have yet to yield any tangible results.

Investigations by ZimEye indicate a pattern of similar behaviour over the years, suggesting that more individuals may have been affected by Charamba’s schemes.

RWANDA BUSINESS.

Latest details shown that Mr Charamba has has moved un undisclosed lumpsum to Rwanda for a tourism business. Details on the project have been leaked by family members. (In pictures).

ARE YOU ALSO A VICTIM?

The unfolding situation highlights the urgent need for vigilance and thorough vetting when engaging in international recruitment processes, particularly in light of recent high-profile scams.

For those who may have fallen victim to this or similar scams, it is advised to report the incident to local authorities and seek legal counsel to explore possible avenues for redress.

BREAKING: ED Asks Russia for Military Support Against Zambia

-Mnangagwa Calls for Russian Arms to Defend Zimbabwe Against Zambia- By Baba Jukwa | ZimEye | In a controversial move, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for Russian military support to defend Zimbabwe against perceived threats from neighboring Zambia. But we are now separate.” Mnangagwa continued, highlighting the historical ties between the nations and their shared past under British colonial rule. He expressed concern over increasing American influence in Zambia, suggesting it was part of a broader strategy to isolate Zimbabwe. “The Americans are consolidating their power in that country, both in terms of security and financial support to Zambia to make sure that we feel lonely, but that will not change us. We have taken a course which as a people that we feel we want to be independent and we will choose our friends ourselves.” He emphasized Zimbabwe’s historical relationship with Russia, referencing the support received during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle. “We are independent today because most of us in the leadership trained here during our war of liberation. We got our independence because we were supported by yourselves here and we do not forget that history; and you have stood by us.” Mnangagwa outlined specific areas where Zimbabwe seeks Russian assistance, particularly in defense and security, agriculture, and food security. “If opportunity avails later on, we may find time to chat and go into more details on which areas we must focus on in terms of supporting each other, and in terms of where we feel we need extra support more especially in the area of Defence And Security, as well as food security. We can’t go to the West; we have to come here because the West would want to see us down.” The call for Russian arms to defend self against Zambia suggests Mnangagwa himself is not connected to the West. But Mnangagwa’s controversial history will now be exposed as multiple documents and videos revealed over the past seven years have show Mnangagwa as more of NATO project, assisted by the British government to execute military coups between 1980 and 2017, which is over 37 years running. He advised the President to leave the country saying the whites wanted to kill him.” She continued, “The President left for Mozambique and told Samora Machel. Don’t come back!’ with the intention of staging a coup.” Dr. Mugabe accused Mnangagwa of being a dissolute person who had taken President Mugabe for granted. She said, “This person has always been like that. Makhosini (Minister Hlongwane), that man is a liquidator. He is a ravisher. Go and look up what these words mean.” In a passionate address, Dr.

Tsvangirai Exposes Mnangagwa Incompetence

Will Mnangagwa Bring Home Sweet News After 44 Years of Failure?

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe faces an ongoing struggle to stabilize its economy and foster international partnerships, Emmerson Mnangagwa has claimed his recent engagements offer a glimmer of hope.

Speaking on Thursday, Mnangagwa highlighted his optimistic outlook following the South Korea – Africa Summit.

His remarks have sparked a mixture of cautious optimism and skepticism among Zimbabweans, who have endured decades of economic and political turbulence.

“Yesterday, I concluded several productive days of meetings at the South Korea – Africa Summit,” Mnangagwa announced, underscoring the potential breakthroughs achieved during his diplomatic mission.

“We engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s ties with South Korea,” he added, emphasizing the strategic importance of this bilateral relationship.

Mnangagwa’s sentiments reflect a broader strategy to diversify Zimbabwe’s international alliances and stimulate economic growth through external cooperation.

“I am grateful for the warm hospitality and look forward to the fruitful collaborations ahead,” Mnangagwa stated, conveying his hope for tangible outcomes from these dialogues.

This announcement comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s citizens are increasingly desperate for positive news, given the country’s long history of economic hardship, political instability, and international isolation.

The era of Robert Mugabe left Zimbabwe with a severely weakened economy, characterized by hyperinflation, corruption, and a lack of foreign investment.

Mnangagwa, who succeeded Mugabe in 2017, has been tasked with the monumental challenge of reversing these detrimental trends.

Critics, however, remain skeptical of Mnangagwa’s ability to translate international engagements into real benefits for Zimbabwe.

Despite previous promises of reform and development, many Zimbabweans have yet to experience significant improvements in their daily lives. High unemployment rates, poor public services, and a struggling agricultural sector continue to plague the nation.

In response to the El Niño-induced drought in Zimbabwe, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded CARE Zimbabwe with a US$3 million grant to support 25,000 people in Bikita district in Masvingo province from June to November.

According to the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment 2023 Report, 2.7 million people in Zimbabwe are in dire need of food assistance.

The El Niño-induced drought is projected to result in livelihood loss, water scarcity, and disruption of social protection services.

An estimated 26.4 percent of children under five years of age are facing malnutrition and stunted growth.CARE Zimbabwe will implement the grant through the Tayambuka Project.

Tayambuka is the Shona word for the expression of “we have prevailed over.” The project will target ten wards in Bikita district to strengthen the resilience of 25,000 people.

CARE Zimbabwe Country Director Patrick Sikana said, “The project takes a multifaceted approach to tackle these challenges. It combines in-kind food assistance with the implementation of Food for Assets (FFA) programs. FFA focuses on strengthening community physical and natural assets to enhance resilience and reduce vulnerabilities to future shocks and stresses.

Tayambuka will address the gaps in food consumption in 5,000 vulnerable households, each with an average of five members.” Each household will receive six months’ worth of in-kind food assistance comprising 50 kilograms of sorghum cereal, 10 kilograms of Pinto Beans, and 3.75 kilograms of vegetable oil.

This quantity is specifically designed to meet 75 percent of the average daily calorie requirement of 2,100 calories for each household member.

Concurrently, CARE will also conduct FFA initiatives. CARE Zimbabwe’s investment in adaptation and strengthening of community resilience is also helping to protect livelihood gains and combat climate change.

Of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ZigED Economy

By A Correspondent

Government spokesman Nick Mangwana recently lauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his efforts in addressing various economic challenges facing Zimbabwe.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Mangwana highlighted several issues that Mnangagwa claims to have resolved, referring to his accomplishments as “ZiGing” the economy.

Mangwana’s post enumerated the key problems Mnangagwa tackled during his tenure: “ONE BY ONE: We had a fuel problem- ED solved it. We had a passport problem- ED solved it. We had a number plate problem- ED solved it. We had a currency problem- ED ZiG(ED) it. #Hohodeyi?”

The term “ZiGing” appears to be a coined phrase by Mangwana, combining Mnangagwa’s initials (ED) with the word “zig,” suggesting a swift and effective maneuver in addressing these economic issues.

This expression underscores the administration’s attempt to present Mnangagwa as a decisive leader who can navigate the country’s complex economic landscape.

Among the highlighted achievements, Mangwana noted that the persistent fuel shortages have been addressed under Mnangagwa’s leadership. Additionally, the long-standing problems related to obtaining passports and vehicle number plates have also seen improvements.

The mention of “ZiGing” the currency problem points to the government’s efforts to stabilize Zimbabwe’s currency, which has been a significant challenge amid hyperinflation and economic instability.

Mangwana’s post concludes with the hashtag “#Hohodeyi,” a Shona term that can be translated as a call for acknowledgment or applause, implying that Mnangagwa’s actions deserve recognition and praise.

This self-congratulatory message from the government spokesman comes at a time when Zimbabweans continue to face economic hardships, including high inflation, unemployment, and other systemic issues.

The administration’s narrative of having solved these problems is likely aimed at bolstering Mnangagwa’s image as an effective leader ahead of future political contests.

Critics, however, may question the long-term sustainability of these solutions and the broader impact on the everyday lives of Zimbabweans.

As the government touts these accomplishments, the real measure of success will be seen in the tangible improvements experienced by the population.

Shebeen Owner Murdered Over Missing USD80

Mwenezi, June 7, 2024 — A beer-drinking spree and gambling game in Mutandavadze Village, Chief Mazhetese area, Sovelele, ended in tragedy as a shebeen owner was stabbed to death over a missing $80. The incident has shocked the community and highlighted the deadly consequences of disputes fueled by alcohol and gambling.

The fatal confrontation occurred when Takura Hove accused Wellington Zhou, the owner of the shebeen, of stealing $80, his cellphone, and his bicycle. The quarrel escalated quickly, resulting in Hove stabbing Zhou in the chest, killing him instantly.

Kudakwashe Dhewa, the Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and urged the public to refrain from resorting to violence, particularly under the influence of alcohol. “We have a report of murder from Mwenezi where a man stabbed and killed another whilst they were drinking and gambling at the now deceased’s place. We urge members of the community not to solve disputes using violence and whilst drunk. We also encourage people to value the sanctity of life,” Dhewa stated.

Sources close to the incident revealed that the conflict began on May 27, when Hove lost $40 while gambling at Zhou’s shebeen. Determined to recover his losses, Hove returned home to fetch another $40, only to lose it again. The situation took a deadly turn the following day at around 2 a.m. when Hove, still at Zhou’s shebeen, accused the owner of stealing his belongings, including the cash he had lost, his Itel cellphone, and his bicycle.

In a fit of rage, Hove drew a knife from his pocket and attacked Zhou, stabbing him once in the chest. Zhou died on the spot. Police who arrived at the scene discovered the alleged stolen cellphone in Zhou’s pocket and the bicycle in his house, complicating the narrative of theft.

The murder of Zhou over a mere $80 has left the Mutandavadze Village in shock and mourning. The incident underscores the dangers of gambling and alcohol-fueled violence and serves as a stark reminder of the need for peaceful conflict resolution.

As investigations continue, the community grapples with the senseless loss of life over a small amount of money, emphasizing the tragic consequences when disputes are settled with violence rather than dialogue.- Ziana

Karenyi-Kore Rejects Tshabangu Project…

By A Correspondent

Chikanga Member of Parliament, Lynette Karenyi-Kore, has made it clear that she does not align herself with Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). Karenyi-Kore’s firm stance seeks to dispel any rumors or assumptions about her political affiliations within the party.

In a recent statement, Karenyi-Kore emphasized her independence and dedication to the party rather than any individual faction.

She asserted, “Kutaura chokwadi, a person ane dzakamukwanira chaiye chaiye unga kwanise kuti uri munhu wemunhu, zvandakaita ndingaita munhu waTshabangu, munhu wemunhu?” which translates to “To tell the truth, a person who is truly capable should be able to say they belong to the people.

How can I then belong to Tshabangu? Can a person be another person’s person?”

Her remarks reflect a broader philosophy about political loyalty and its implications. Karenyi-Kore elaborated on the dangers of aligning too closely with any single individual within a political context.

She stated, “Waita munhu wemunhu wozodii? Munhu anoita munhu weparty semaziviro andoita kuti you belong to a party, because the moment yaunoita belong to an individual, individual iyeye akadonha iwewe unenge wadonha,” meaning, “What happens when you become another person’s person? One should belong to the party as I understand it, because the moment you belong to an individual, if that individual falls, you fall with them.”

This statement underscores her commitment to the CCC as an organization rather than to any single leader within it.

Karenyi-Kore’s comments highlight the potential risks associated with personal political allegiances and stress the importance of maintaining a focus on the collective goals and values of the party.

By distancing herself from Tshabangu, Karenyi-Kore is not only clarifying her own position but also advocating for a unified approach within the CCC, where loyalty to the party’s mission and principles takes precedence over personal alliances.

ANC Gears for Coalition Govt After Losing Majority

By A Correspondent | The African National Congress (ANC) will invite other political parties to form a government of national unity, according to party Secretary General Fikile Mbalula. This move comes after the ANC, which has dominated South African politics since the end of apartheid, lost its parliamentary majority in last week’s election.

Addressing the media, Mbalula emphasized the necessity of coalition talks, stating, “We are engaging with all parties to establish a coalition government. The ANC cannot govern alone after receiving only 40% of the vote. It is imperative for the stability and progress of our country that we build a government of national unity.”

President Cyril Ramaphosa echoed this sentiment following a crucial meeting of the ANC’s National Executive Committee. “There can be no solution to our country’s challenges without the ANC,” Ramaphosa asserted, adding that the party is exploring various scenarios to form a stable and effective government.

Mbalula reiterated Ramaphosa’s message, underscoring the ANC’s commitment to collaboration. “We are actively talking to all political parties to forge a path forward. The election results have made it clear that South Africans demand their leaders to work together for the greater good,” Mbalula said.

The ANC’s loss of majority marks a historic moment, ending a three-decade-long era of single-party dominance. With only 40% of the vote, the ANC is now compelled to seek alliances to govern. “Our goal is to create a government that advances the interests of all South Africans,” Mbalula affirmed, highlighting the ANC’s willingness to engage in broad-based coalition talks.

Ramaphosa pointed out the necessity of extraordinary leadership and courage in these challenging times. “The results of these elections show that South Africans need their leaders to find common ground and act in unity,” he said, announcing the party’s intention to establish a Government of National Unity.

In this unprecedented political landscape, Mbalula’s consistent message has been clear: the ANC is committed to reaching out to all parties to form a coalition government, ensuring stability and effective governance for the future of South Africa.

The Struggles of Kidney Patients

By Hon Richard Tsvangirai
Norton MP

I once posed a question to the Minister of Health and Children about the ministry’s plans to equip Norton Hospital with dialysis machines.

In his response, the minister made it clear that the government doesn’t have the resources, despite channeling funds towards building expensive villas.

Kidney patients in Norton have to endure long distances and transport costs to access dialysis machines.

Below is an account of a kidney patient who has to travel 180 km to access this life-saving treatment.

To me, it’s all about priorities, and the executive is prioritizing building expensive villas over the lives of Zimbabweans.

Garananga Praises Warriors

Belgium-based defender Munashe Garananga believes the Warriors team that was selected for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers has good players in all departments but will need to work on the connection on the field.

The national team is currently camping in Johannesburg, South Africa, preparing for the Group C games against Lesotho and Bafana Bafana.

The Lesotho game will be played at Orlando Stadium on Friday and match against South Africa is scheduled for Tuesday in Bloemfontein.

In his assessment of the squad ahead of the two qualifiers, Garan’anga said: “As a group, I can say we have very good players in all departments.

“But it’s more of a connection (needed), maybe if we can have four or five days of training before the important games.”

Speaking about his first encounter with new interim coach Jairos Tapera, the KV Mechelen defender added:

“I think he is a good coach. He welcomed all of us in training.

“Personally, I feel comfortable around him, and learn from a big coach about him.”

By Showbiz Reporter | In a display of hypocrisy, the Ngoro Yeminana Singers, known for their uplifting and spiritual music, were recently caught on camera lending their voices in support of convicted fraudster Felistas Murata, better known as Mai Titi. This shocking revelation comes at a time when Murata is under intense scrutiny for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of ZANU PF socialite Patricia Jack.

The Ngoro Yeminana Singers, who have built a reputation for their soulful performances and spiritual guidance, seem to have betrayed the very values they purportedly uphold. Their music, celebrated for providing solace and support to victims of various adversities, is now paradoxically being used to bolster the morale of an individual accused of heinous crimes.

Mai Titi’s involvement in criminal activities is not new to the public. Convicted of fraud, her reputation has been further tarnished by allegations of orchestrating abductions, with Patricia Jack being her latest alleged victim. The fact that the Ngoro Yeminana Singers would align themselves with such a figure is a grievous affront to their fans and followers who look up to them for moral and spiritual guidance.

The choir’s support for Mai Titi starkly contrasts with their proclaimed mission of spreading hope and compassion through their music. This incident raises critical questions about their integrity and commitment to the principles they sing about. How can a group dedicated to uplifting victims of injustice and hardship turn a blind eye to the suffering inflicted by the very person they are now supporting?

By backing Mai Titi, the Ngoro Yeminana Singers are not just betraying their fans but also undermining the plight of victims of similar crimes. It’s a slap in the face to those who have looked to their music for comfort and a sense of justice. This action suggests a disturbing disconnect between their public persona and private actions, casting a dark shadow over their credibility and the authenticity of their spiritual message.

Supporting a figure like Mai Titi, especially in her darkest hours, sends a dangerous message. It implies a tacit approval of her actions, including the alleged kidnappings. This not only emboldens Mai Titi but also undermines the efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system in holding her accountable for her crimes. The Ngoro Yeminana Singers, by choosing to stand by a convicted criminal, are inadvertently strengthening the hands of a kidnapper, a move that can have dire consequences for justice and societal morals.

Garananga Upbeat

Belgium-based defender Munashe Garananga believes the Warriors team that was selected for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers has good players in all departments but will need to work on the connection on the field.

“Personally, I feel comfortable around him, and learn from a big coach about him.”

Being a balanced African Feminist: Embracing Equality, Family, and Unity

6 June 2024

As an African feminist, I believe in the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of women. However, I also recognize the value of family and the need to protect all survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). My brand of feminism is not about superiority or domination but about creating a balanced and just society where all individuals can thrive.

Gender equality is not a women’s issue but a human rights issue. It’s essential to recognize that gender inequality affects not only women but also men and that we must work together to dismantle the patriarchal systems that perpetuate discrimination and violence.

As a women’s rights advocate and gender equality advocate, I’ve faced challenges in various spheres, including the workplace, home, and politics. However, I’ve learned that being a feminist doesn’t make one immune to facing challenges in these fields. Instead, it’s essential to build unity and support systems to overcome these obstacles.

At home, building unity means recognizing the value of each family member and working together to create a supportive environment. It means teaching children about gender equality, respect, and consent. It means creating a safe space for open communication and conflict resolution.

In the workplace, building unity means promoting inclusive policies and practices that benefit all employees, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. It means recognizing and addressing systemic barriers and biases that hinder career advancement and equal pay.

In politics, building unity means collaborating with like-minded individuals to push for policies and laws that promote gender equality and challenge GBV. It means holding leaders accountable for their actions and advocating for inclusive decision-making processes.

Journalists have a critical responsibility and duty of care in the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and in reporting on family matters. Victim shaming is harmful and unproductive, while sensationalized stories that lack factual accuracy can be counterproductive. The pursuit of a sensational story should never prioritize clicks over the well-being of victims. A fundamental ethical principle in journalism is to protect the identity of victims in sensitive family and legal matters involving abuse, as naming them can create a stigma that discourages others from coming forward. The media must distinguish between what is in the public interest and what is merely of public interest. While some stories may be intriguing, they may not necessarily serve the public good. The media has a duty to prioritize ethical reporting over gossip and to respect individuals’ privacy, even if the public may not understand the difference.

In conclusion, being a balanced African feminist means embracing equality, family, and unity. It means recognizing the interconnectedness of gender equality, family values, and social justice. By working together and building unity, we can create a society that values and respects all individuals, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

Let’s rise together and build a brighter future for all. I will continue with my fight against GBV, building peaceful homes, communities, and nations and women’s rights advocacy. God never gives anyone a burden they can’t carry. What is important is how you carry yours. I choose to carry mine with style.

Prioritizing Villas Over Vital Healthcare: The Struggles of Kidney Patients

Karenyi-Kore Distances Self from Tshabangu

Mnangagwa Claims Credit For Fixing Passport Crisis

Mnangagwa Sends Chilling Warning to Traders Who Refuse ZiG

By A Correspondent

In a bold and assertive move, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a stark warning to traders and businesses in Zimbabwe who are reluctant to accept the Zimbabwean dollar (ZiG) or those who are manipulating the official exchange rates.

This warning comes amidst growing economic pressures and increasing concerns over the stability of the national currency.

On Tuesday, the ruling party, Zanu PF, released a statement addressing this issue head-on. The statement urged citizens to report any traders who are refusing to accept ZiG or those who are exceeding the official ZiG to US dollar exchange rate.

Reports should be directed to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), with the hotline and WhatsApp numbers provided for ease of reporting: 0714039897 and 0780434475.

This move is part of the government’s broader strategy to enforce economic regulations and stabilize the local currency, which has been under significant pressure.

Traders and businesses have increasingly favored the US dollar due to its stability, causing a parallel market to flourish and further undermining the ZiG.

Zimbabwe’s economy has been in a precarious state for several years, with hyperinflation, a volatile currency, and a substantial informal sector posing continuous challenges.

The reintroduction of the Zimbabwean dollar in 2019, after a decade of using multiple foreign currencies, was intended to restore monetary sovereignty. However, persistent economic instability and a lack of confidence in the local currency have hampered this effort.

The government’s directive to report non-compliant traders is seen as a stringent measure to clamp down on illegal currency trading and enforce the use of the ZiG.

By involving the Financial Intelligence Unit, the authorities aim to track and penalize those violating currency regulations, thereby attempting to restore some level of control over the economic environment.

The chilling warning issued by Mnangagwa has sent ripples through the trading community. Many traders are concerned about the potential repercussions of non-compliance, including hefty fines or possible imprisonment.

The directive may compel some to adhere to the official exchange rates and accept the ZiG, despite the operational difficulties and potential losses due to its fluctuating value.

For the general public, this measure could have mixed implications.

On one hand, enforcing the use of the local currency might strengthen its position and contribute to economic stabilization in the long run. On the other hand, if traders pass on their losses to consumers through higher prices, the cost of living could rise, exacerbating the financial strain on ordinary Zimbabweans.

Critics argue that such heavy-handed tactics may not address the root causes of the economic issues.

The lack of confidence in the ZiG stems from deeper structural problems, including political instability, lack of investment, and a history of economic mismanagement.

Simply enforcing the use of the ZiG without addressing these underlying issues may not yield the desired long-term results.

Furthermore, the implementation of this directive poses significant logistical challenges.

Monitoring compliance and processing reports efficiently will require substantial resources and coordination, which may strain an already overburdened bureaucratic system.

President Mnangagwa’s warning to traders is a clear indication of the government’s resolve to enforce economic policies and stabilize the national currency.

While the move aims to strengthen the use of the ZiG and curb illegal currency trading, it also highlights the ongoing challenges facing Zimbabwe’s economy.

The effectiveness of this directive will depend on its implementation and the government’s ability to address the broader economic issues that undermine confidence in the local currency.

As Zimbabwe navigates these complex economic waters, the actions taken now will significantly influence its financial landscape in the future.

BREAKING: Police Officers Caught On Camera Collab-ing Armed Robbers

Officers Collaborating with Armed Robbers in Goromonzi

By A Correspondent | Goromonzi, Zimbabwe | ZimEye | – Police officers in Goromonzi have been caught on camera allegedly collaborating with armed robbers. The footage has gone viral, showing officers failing to explain why they arrested a robbery victim, Clark Makoni, at Juru Police Station.

Makoni, who was ambushed and robbed, was detained overnight without a clear explanation. The video shows Makoni confronting Officer Vherendi on live camera, demanding answers for his wrongful detention.

“Officer Vherendi, I want to know what is happening. I have spent a full day inside here. These are my things; I am making a recording. I am live. I slept in this way in the cells; I am at Juru Police station,” Makoni says, visibly distressed.

Another officer is heard in the background, speaking in hushed tones, seemingly pleading with Makoni to stop recording. However, Makoni persists, questioning the officers’ actions.

“What’s going on? Please tell me, how is this happening? Someone has to be answerable. I came to report a case; I was ambushed, people came to rob me, I have got money in my bag. How is this happening? The car being used belongs to Commissioner Tembo, that’s what’s going on. Now I have been locked up again, because no police officer can answer my questions. I spent the night in here, after I made a police report. I am the one who came to the police. The people who tried to rob me are the ones who the police let go, and now I am the one who’s spent the night in here. I have all my clothes, I have everything, my bag,” Makoni continues.

As of now, no official comment has been made by the police regarding this incident. The community is demanding an immediate investigation and justice for Makoni, who has highlighted a potential scandal involving local law enforcement and criminal elements.

This story is developing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Jacob Mudenda Call To Impeach Mnangagwa Needed

Editorial Advisory | ZimEye | : Lessons for Jacob Mudenda from Zambia

Hon. Advocate Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda, Speaker of the Zimbabwean Parliament, recently participated in a capacity-building workshop for parliamentary speakers in Lusaka, Zambia. This workshop, themed “Enhancing Parliamentary Democracy: The Role of Presiding Officers,” provided a significant opportunity for Mudenda to reflect on the principles of parliamentary democracy and the responsibilities of a presiding officer. One immediate and necessary step Mudenda must take is to reverse the imposition of Sengezo Tshabangu as the leader of the opposition, a move condemned by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and issue a formal apology to the voters for this undemocratic action. Furthermore, the legitimacy of State President Emmerson Mnangagwa must be challenged, with Parliament given the role of voting on whether it recognizes Mnangagwa as president, given the allegations of military coups and the overthrow of elected governments since 2017, publicly acknowledged by party spokesman Chris Mutsvangwa on ZBC TV before the 2018 and 2023 elections. Here are some critical takeaways Mudenda must bring back to Zimbabwe:

-1. Upholding Parliamentary Democracy

The core theme of the workshop underscores the importance of enhancing parliamentary democracy. In Zambia, the commitment to a vibrant, multi-party system is evident. This contrasts starkly with the situation in Zimbabwe, where the expulsion of Nelson Chamisa’s legislators and the imposition of Sengezo Tshabangu as the opposition leader have undermined democratic principles. Mudenda must learn that a functioning democracy requires genuine opposition to ensure accountability and diverse representation.

-2. Integrity and Impartiality of the Speaker.

Zambia’s Vice President, Hon. Mutale Nalumango, emphasized that presiding officers must be visionary and exemplary leaders, capable of responsibly managing parliamentary business. Mudenda’s actions in Zimbabwe, particularly in enforcing partisan decisions that stifle opposition, fall short of this ideal. He should strive to embody the integrity and impartiality necessary for his role, ensuring that all parliamentary members, regardless of their political affiliation, are treated fairly and their voices heard.

-3. Building Institutional Capacity.

The establishment of the Institute for Parliamentary Studies and Training (iPST) in Zambia reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and capacity building for parliamentary officers. Mudenda should consider similar initiatives in Zimbabwe to enhance the skills and knowledge of parliamentarians and staff. Such measures can foster a more competent and independent parliament, better equipped to serve the people.

-4. Embracing Reform and Innovation

The workshop in Zambia showcased how building on cumulative efforts can lead to significant reforms. Mudenda should adopt a similar approach, championing reforms that promote transparency, inclusivity, and responsiveness in the Zimbabwean Parliament. Learning from the Zambian experience, he could push for changes that enhance parliamentary procedures and ensure more effective legislative oversight.

-5. Promoting Human Capital Development

Human capital development was highlighted by the Zambian Vice President as a key policy. Mudenda must recognize the importance of investing in the development of parliamentarians and parliamentary staff. Training programs, workshops, and educational opportunities can equip them with the skills necessary to navigate complex legislative processes and better serve their constituencies.

-6. Ensuring Accountability and Transparency

Finally, the presence of both serving and former speakers at the workshop provided a rich exchange of ideas and experiences, emphasizing the importance of accountability and transparency in parliamentary leadership. Mudenda must ensure that his actions and the actions of the Zimbabwean Parliament are transparent and open to scrutiny, thereby building public trust and confidence in the legislative process.

-7. Challenging Presidential Legitimacy

The legitimacy of State President Emmerson Mnangagwa must be urgently reassessed. Given the allegations of military coups and the overthrow of elected governments since 2017, which have been publicly acknowledged by party spokesman Chris Mutsvangwa on national television, Parliament should be empowered to vote on whether it recognizes Mnangagwa as the legitimate president. This step is crucial for restoring constitutional order and ensuring that leadership is derived from democratic processes rather than military intervention.

In conclusion, Jacob Mudenda’s participation in the Lusaka workshop should be a catalyst for positive change in the Zimbabwean Parliament. By embracing the lessons of upholding democratic principles, maintaining integrity, building institutional capacity, championing reform, promoting human capital development, ensuring accountability, and reassessing presidential legitimacy, Mudenda can help transform the Zimbabwean Parliament into a truly representative and effective institution. This is not just a professional duty but a moral imperative for the betterment of Zimbabwe’s democratic future.

Tendai Biti Uses Zwizwai Funeral To Say Tshabangu MP Gangs Mustn’t Be Criticised Cause They “Helped Chamisa” At One Time | FULL TEXT

“I got hurt by people who try to desecrate the legacy of Murisi Zwizwai in this struggle; by people who try to delegitimise the legacy of Murisi @murisizwizwai2 in the struggle. There is no struggle for change; There is no history of our struggle without Murisi Zwizwai. He was there leading from the front; I was looking at my pictures. My iPhone keeps memories of all the occasions of history, the memorials that we used to hold. Murisi Zwizwai was always there. There was a story that was always told of how the MDC Alliance was built. There is a story that has not been told of the transition from Morgan Tsvangirai to Nelson Chamisa and the role that Murisi Zwizwai played.

I am not the most qualified to tell that story, but I remember being called up at my office in Milton Park. I was called up by Chalton Hwende, and Murisi Zwizwai and told to go to the Flowers-The Maruwa. We did not go to the Maruwa to the front, we went to the back. Things had gone bad at that time. We knew that the president was not coming back from South Africa. Things were now horrible. Hwende and Murisi Zwizwai both said things are now terrible. We must now do this and that, but as I said, I’m not the most qualified to speak of the transition from Morgan Tsvangirai to Nelson Chamisa, which makes what happened to him more unbearable. You understand what I’m saying? The ingratitude, our lack of empathy given the role that was played by Murisi Zwizwai. So we apologise to the Murambwi family for the injustices that this party caused to Murisi Zwizwai…”

The Second Republic has failed the people and as a result the people will not, and should not fail to remove it. This is as clear as daylight even in the most seemingly insurmountable of circumstances. The administration in the minds of most objective people is as good as gone. They know it themselves. The Last Supper Syndrome has kicked in and they have even stopped pretending that they do have any reputation to protect and barnish. At every given opportunity they even tempt fate and dare the populace to do anything with them…

Dr Raymond Chamba

The Second Republic has been a spectacular failure. With great expectations and endless goodwill they rode into leadership. Everyone wished them well from citizens, global foes and regional allies and they have all but squandered all the positive energy. All cosmetics of responsibility have all but melted. It’s a civic responsibility to stop this political BBL Republic….

We agreed to and were elated to see elected and selected old faces singing new songs of liberation, good governance, transparency. We imagined them better statesman even though some of their past records were a natural performance of the devil. Now we are left in no doubt that we rallied behind incompetent kleptomaniacs and village idiots one cannot be at ease and trust in fairly presiding over simple grazing disputes back in the communal areas.

It’s the proverbial gang that can’t shoot. They don’t deserve the constitutional courtesy of going through their current term much less the public chutzpah and indulgence into imagining extensions to the same. Here is a government that’s a clear and present danger to the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. For how long can we countenance known thieves and incorrigible liars to run roughshod over our basic expectation of an administration that’s geared
to “serve” all and equally before the law.

The dark clouds of mass insurrective instinct are gathering on the horizon. The natural reflex to die on your feet rather than your knees is everyday gaining momentum. They are stealing so much that to keep it in order and rapacious appetites in check is by itself creating internal family ructions and factions. The first and formidable political schisms are within same bloodlines as the satanic impulse of unbridled secular avarice has all imagining that this orgy of gluttonous indulgences must find continous expression without let.

The only responsible civic responsibility is to meticulously note and document the current and out of control rivers of corruption upon the once great nation. Characterising it as failure to serve is a very diplomatic expression of grotesque failure to lead, govern and keep the baser instincts of these villagers run amok in check. These “VENE” must be stopped and in all credence by all moral and legal means necessary.

ZANU PF Socialite Patricia Jeke’s Home Stormed By Unknown Men Again

By Investigations Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, June 5, 2024 – In an unusual incident, the home of Patricia Jeke, a prominent ZANU PF socialite, was hit by a mysterious visit from unknown male individuals. The event occurred earlier today when several men arrived in white pickup trucks and entered the residence, demanding to know where Jeke sleeps inside the building.

Patricia Jeke herself disclosed the unsettling details of the visit, expressing her confusion and frustration. “I am coming from court right now,” she recounted. “They came in two vehicles, white pickup trucks, to the house where I live. The men who came out of the cars went into the building and started demanding to know where Patricia sleeps. They started harassing people who live here. Now I am speechless. I am clueless. I am pissed off.”

The visit, confirmed by the owners has left the occupants of the house shaken. According to Jeke, the visitors were adamant in their inquiry to locate her, creating an atmosphere of unease and intimidation. “When on earth has a court hearing been held in Epworth?” Jeke questioned, highlighting the unusual nature of the incident. “They told me to go to Epworth.”

The purpose behind the visit remains unclear, and there is widespread speculation about the identity and intentions of the men. Local authorities have been notified, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this unusual event.

Patricia Jeke, known for her prominent role in the ZANU PF social scene, has been a controversial figure in recent years. Her outspoken nature and active involvement in political and social matters have made her a target for various adversaries. However, the mysterious nature of this visit marks a new and concerning development.

The incident has sparked outrage among the community, with many expressing solidarity with Jeke and condemning the actions of the visitors. Social media platforms are abuzz with reactions, with supporters calling for swift justice and enhanced security measures to protect public figures.

Patricia Jeke (Jack) is an ex-friend of the notorious convict Felistas Murata (Mai Titi), who was illegally raided at midnight by a fake cop last Tuesday, in a revenge operation by Murata, who is trying to deflect attention from the exposure of her harassment of First Lady Auxilliah Mnangagwa.

On Mother’s Day in May, Murata coordinated online harassment and insults of the First Lady after posing as President Mnangagwa’s wife, much to the irritation of loyal ZANU PF members. Murata also subjected Mnangagwa to ridicule when she filmed him in an intoxicated state and drinking whisky.

Many ZANU PF supporters advised Murata to remove her violating content and to instruct her online followers not to insult the First Lady. Instead of heeding this advice, which urged her to publicly apologize, Murata has claimed she is the sole victim, not the First Lady. Her rage instead of remorse includes seeking to kidnap Jeke, and last month she leaked these plans to a UK-based undercover journalist during a five-day running conversation. (WATCH FOOTAGE OF THE LEAKS).

In an explosive development, Mai Titi was caught on camera making startling confessions to two undercover reporters from ZimEye in May. During the covert conversations, she revealed her wishes to hack police databases to delete incriminating records. The socialite’s brazen admission highlights her willingness to exploit digital vulnerabilities to manipulate the legal system.

Leaked Audio Reveals Dark Secrets.

Further incriminating evidence surfaced in leaked audio messages, where Mai Titi candidly confesses her involvement in the abduction of Patricia Jack, a ZANU PF activist. The recordings detail how she communicated with the undercover reporters before deploying a fake police officer to execute the kidnapping at midnight, without any legal warrant.

A transcript of the leaked audios with popular singer, Larrie T, is as follows:

Felistas Murata: I did not judge you, you said that these are stories on Facebook. It is my story. I don’t judge you. You are not important. You are not important.

Lazzie : My dear let me tell you something. You are now trying to be special. Don’t try to be too special you are not special. you are now trying to say we are nothing, I will talk. You’re sh**.

I am now finished with you right now. You tell me what to do. Who do you think you are? it doesn’t mean that when you have 1 million followers, you are now something above other people. You are now trying to think that because you went to see the President you are now someone extremely special. You think that you can now threaten other people. We have relatives who are way more senior over there. Some of them you may discover that they are even the ones who released you from prison. So when I tell you keep quiet. You are now relying on Chidawa. He will sink soon. Stop doing what you’re doing. I’m finished with you.

Felistas Murata: You are actually talking when you don’t even know what story it is. Why are you attacking Tafadzwa? You are attacking him on what grounds? I am the one who deployed him to go there, he is a private investigator he is at work. You cannot tell people what to do if you want us to go against each other you must tell me that Sister we are now enemies, when you see her insulting me, including inside things including things to do with my children, and those things to do with my husband, If you ever seen me insulting people? Why don’t you give her counselling? What is special about her getting arrested that you are now upset with Tafadzwa why he has done this? He is a licensed private investigator that is his job. I am the one who sent him myself. You yourself when you rough up with other people, Why do you enjoy me being insulted? How many things does she utter? How can you say Facebook things that involve my children being insulted how can you talk about things relating to cyber bullying in this way? Hey you! Behave well Lazzie. I don’t want to cross your path, I respect you in a big way. Leave us alone. We are doing what we are doing here you do what you are doing there. I am standing for Tafadzwa, because I am the one who sent him.

Lazzie: No you need to understand if you start saying that. Why am I marking her? Are you not trying to rule me now? How can you say that? How can you ask me why I am marking her when I write what I write on my page, I write what I write because it is my page we need to be fair we must not take advantage of each other like that if there are issues that you clash with Patricia, these are all your matters nothing to do with me about him. I discover that he is abusing other peoples rights in the night. I have to ask him

When you start saying that I now I wonder how on earth you say that because in God’s eyes I am not belittled.

Midnight Kidnapping Caught on Camera.

Meanwhile, the violent operation last Tuesday midnight, meticulously planned and executed, was captured live on camera. The footage shows the fake officer forcefully abducting Patricia Jack, raising concerns about the extent of Mai Titi’s influence and her ability to orchestrate such a daring act. The incident, occurring under the cover of darkness, underscores the audacity and recklessness of the operation.

Implications and Public Outcry.

The revelations have sparked outrage across Zimbabwe, with citizens demanding swift action against Mai Titi. The incident not only questions her moral compass but also highlights potential security lapses within the police force, allowing such breaches to occur. Calls for a thorough investigation and accountability are growing louder as the public grapples with the implications of these events.

Authorities Respond

In response to the breaking news, authorities have vowed to launch a comprehensive investigation into Mai Titi’s activities. Law enforcement agencies are under immense pressure to uncover the full extent of her involvement and the potential network behind these acts.

The development centres around concerns over how Mai Titi led her followers to insult and harassment First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa after violating President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s privacy while intoxicated on strong whisky and posing as his girlfriend on Mother’s Day.

Concerns are that Felistas Murata is treating the First Lady the same way she has a string of other married women for over 5 years to date.

Warriors Skipper Wary Of Crocodiles

Warriors stand-in captain Marshall Munetsi is aware of the threat that Lesotho are posing ahead of Friday’s World Cup Qualifiers Group C clash.

The Crocodiles have picked two points in their first two games, playing draws against group favourites South Africa and Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of the match, Munetsi said:

“If you see, Lesotho drew with Nigeria and South Africa. So every game is a challenge for us and our main focus right now is Lesotho because they are not pushovers they have a couple of guys that are playing in the South African league so they are a competitive side.”

Munetsi also urged the South Africa-based Warriors fans to come in their numbers and support the team.

The match will be played at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

He added: “I would urge those here in South Africa to come, Orlando is also my home so I know that the majority of the people will be making their way there.”

The national team was forced to use a neutral venue for the game against Lesotho due to the unavailability of suitable stadiums in the country.

All local football grounds were condemned by CAF ahead of the start of the qualifiers last November.

Hospital Struggles to Cope with Ballooning Number of Patients

By A Correspondent

Norton Hospital, which serves over 100,000 people, is struggling to operate without an X-ray machine, despite being designed for a patient load of around 40,000.

Norton Member of Parliament Richard Tsvangirai recently questioned the Ministry of Health and Child Care about the hospital’s X-ray machine, which has been out of service for some time.

In October 2018, then Health and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo visited the hospital and assured that plans were at an advanced stage to increase the hospital’s access to government funding and improve its facilities, eliminating the need to refer patients to hospitals in Harare after accidents.

However, years later, the hospital still refers critical cases from Norton to Harare or Chegutu, with health equipment continuing to deteriorate.

Mahere Reduces Defamation Claim Against Gappah

By A Correspondent | ZimEye| Top Zimbabwean lawyer, Fadzayi Mahere who is suing author Petina Gappah for defamation has reduced her claim from US$1 million to US$50 000.

The notice for amendment of the quantum was not read in court but Mahere persisted with the case despite Gappah issuing a retraction and apology last week, also promising to donate to a charity organisation of the former’s choice.

The two were in court before Justice Jacob Mafusire of High Court’s Commercial Division who adjourned the matter indefinitely after granting the notice of amendment and hearing submissions from both parties.

Gappah is expected to file her written closing submissions on June 17 while Mahere who is represented by Nokhuthula Moyo will file her on July 2 2024.

Under cross examination Mahere said Gappah was not sincere in her apology and retraction adding that it is clear that she is determined to persist with the defamatory allegations.

Mahere said the situation now looks like Gappah is using the court to further her mission to soil her reputation and that of her family.

“This is a continuation of the pattern of defamation against myself, my father and my family that the defendant has embarked on.

“Even though she says she retracted the defamatory statements and apologised, she is insisting with them.

“She continues to make the attacks and insists those statements were true which shows that is not sincere,” Mahere said.

“She seems to have a propensity to continue in these lines of defamatory statements,” she added.

Mahere said the incident was still very alive in people’s minds.

“The cycle of that statement is big. Six years later the statements are still embedded in the minds of family, people and everyone who read it and it is damaging.

Mahere hit back saying it was “the plaintiff (Mahere) who raised her father in this case, so it’s fair for me to raise those questions about him because she opened that door.”

Gappah also alleged that Mahere’s colleague David Coltart had made similar allegations against Mahere’s father.

Mahere’s lawyer objected to that line of questioning arguing that it was rather a comment not relevant for proceedings at hand.

“It is not an opportunity for the defendant to continue defaming the plaintiff and her family,” Moyo said.

The presiding judge was forced to interject as the situation got tense, advising Gappah against her conduct.

“As a self actor I must assist you in presenting your case. I want to caution you that even if you retracted and apologised, you need to be careful not to go back to the same issues that you have retracted. The case you are saying is specifically about damages. You might be unearthing issues that increase the damage.

“Confine your cross examination to the defamation of the defendant and the damages,” the judge warned.

Gappah then proceeded asking about the link between her statements and Mahere being called by derogatory titles.

Mahere said the statements indeed made her being labelled as a woman of loose morals.

“I get labelled as a woman of loose morals, husband snatcher, njapisi. The statements defame me and as a woman of loose sexual morals.

“She insists it is true and to this day she maintains that it is true, making fictional allegations of me having sexual relationships with different men.”

Gappah then complained to the judge for having a bias against her.

“It looks like what is being tried is the truthfulness of my statements so I would like to have clear instructions on why the plaintiff is allowed to make reference to statements about issues that I retracted and if I do so I get blocked from that,” she quirried.

But the judge was not pleased with Gappah’s conduct, noting that she was failing to understand his directives.

The judge was forced to adjourn the matter to his chambers stating that proceedings were becoming “fussy” and not in line with the rules of the court.

“You do not seem to appreciate my directive. You are the one who keeps asking questions that make the plaintiff go back to the same statements. Your cross examination is all over and I don’t see us finishing. You need to confine your cross examination to issues raised in evidence in chief,” said the judge.

Gappah insisted that she never said the issues that were now being attributed to her.

“The issue is that the statements being attributed to me are not true. I have never called the plaintiff a njapisi, husband snatcher. It was said by other people so why are they being referred to me,” she said.

The court however reminded that these issues were all on record.

Gappah continued with cross examination insisting that her statements did not stop or prejudice Mahere’s professional and political careers as well as her activism in any way.

She also pointed out to the fact that Mahere was appointed the spokesperson for MDC Alliance and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) after she had made statements against her.

Gappah also said Mahere had many other opportunities including having scholarships and a platform to speak on international events such as the Geneva International conference on human rights.

She also said her apology and retraction was more widely circulated than her initial statements which weighs in her favour.

Gappah also accused Mahere of exaggerating issues to the public.

However Mahere said this does not change the fact that the statements were defamatory.

“It is the “how I rise” that was affected.Everyone believes that I cheat my way to the top, that is what is irreparable harm. Of course I am a lawyer but because of the perceptions I will be called an unscrupulous lawyer, to this very day that an apology has been issued and some statements retracted, the defendant still maintains that the statements are true,” she said.

Mahere sued Gappah for soiling her image after she made several allegations, one being she had assisted her to redraft her Cambridge essay while rendering additional assistance for the spokesperson to enrol at Cambridge University.

Gappah also said Mahere was enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe with the help of her father who was a government official when she did not qualify.

She also accused her of trying to snatch her baby daddy among other things.

Mahere Continues Defamation Lawsuit Against Gappah Despite Apology

USD1million Claim Reduced to USD50,000

By Court Correspondent | ZimEye |

Lawyer Fadzayi Mahere has made a significant adjustment in the defamation lawsuit she is pursuing against colleague Pettina Gappah, lowering the amount of her claim from US $1 million to US $50,000. This reduction in the claimed amount is a notable development in the legal proceedings, possibly reflecting a strategic decision or reassessment of damages.

The lawsuit is over a tweet Gappah made in 2018 that Mahere alleges was defamatory.

Mahere has continued her lawsuit despite an apology announced and published last week, that had a 400,000 online circulation, more than two times the figure the 2018 tweet reached in readership.

The timeline for the case’s progression has been established, with the parties involved required to submit their written closing arguments on specific dates: the initial set of submissions is due on June 17, and the subsequent set is due on July 1. These submissions will provide the parties’ final arguments and evidence summaries for the court to consider.

The case is presided over by Justice Jacob Mafusire of the High Court’s Commercial Division. Justice Mafusire has decided to indefinitely adjourn the proceedings. This adjournment means that the case is paused without a set date for resumption, which can occur for various reasons, such as requiring more time for consideration of the submissions, awaiting further evidence, or administrative scheduling issues. The indefinite adjournment indicates that the court will determine the next steps and possibly set a new date for further hearings or the final judgment after reviewing the closing submissions..

Jan Jam’s decision to assist the prophet has been met with mixed reactions from the public.

While some commended the fashion store for its generosity and community support, others question the decision to aid such a controversial figure.

Susan Mutami Mocks Linda Masarira Over Hubby Re-union

By A Correspondent| Australia based socialite Susan Mutami has mocked LEAD President Linda Masarira over her decision to forgive her husband despite catching him in bed with her daughter.

Posting on Twitter, Mutami who caused so much controversy when she went live on Twitter, narrating how she was sexually abused by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, said maybe the reason why Masarira had to forgive the husband could be linked to the sexual satisfaction she is getting from him.

“Nyaya yakadai inonetsa Kana murume wamambokadzi akatakura zvombo zvehondo zvinoshanda uye zvisingangowanikwe pese pese nokuti Haisi nyore kuwana makanika anogona kugadzira mota yakaita breakdown kwemakore achiimutsa kunge itsva. Masarira reportedly forgave her husband while accusing her daughter of seducing him.

More People Demanding To See Mnangagwa At His House: WHAT IS HAPPENING?

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Two men appeared in court after being arrested for bulldozing their way into the State House, demanding to see President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The incident has heightened coup fears and raised questions about security at the presidential residence.

Felix Togaraseyi Magureyi, 40, one of the men arrested last month, claimed he was Mnangagwa’s father.

Magureyi was apprehended on the spot, and police recovered a pistol magazine, a toy firearm, and a sjambok among other possessions.

The second man, Michael Kunyeya, 29, appeared before a Harare Magistrate facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

On May 22, 2024, Kunyeya, driving an unregistered Toyota Fortuner, attempted to enter the State House to discuss personal problems with the President.

A search of his vehicle revealed a sachet of cocaine and nine empty sachets with cocaine residue. Kunyeya, who has been seen in various photos with Mnangagwa and the Mugabe brothers, was denied bail and is scheduled to return to court on June 12.

Magureyi’s arrest followed an incident on May 7, when he allegedly forced his way into the State House.

Arriving in a Toyota Hilux Raider, Magureyi parked at the visitor’s entrance and began dancing in front of a police officer stationed there. Claiming he was the President’s father, he demanded to see Mnangagwa before forcing his way into the yard.

A subsequent search of Magureyi’s vehicle uncovered a pistol magazine, four rounds of ammunition, a hand-held Boafeng communication radio, a burnt bulb extract, a bunch of keys, a sjambok, and a toy firearm.

The incidents have sparked concern over the security protocols at the State House and the potential threats to President Mnangagwa’s safety.

Ramaphosa Warned Against Spitting On Graves Of Struggle Heroes

African National Congress (ANC) heavyweight and national executive committee (NEC) member Lindiwe Sisulu has slammed talks of an ANC-DA coalition, saying such a coalition would be spitting on the graves of fallen Struggle heroes.

Sisulu joins a plethora of voices with stand against clandestine discussions between the DA and President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Sources in the ANC have revealed that Ramaphosa was considering a “soft coalition” with the DA. The partnership would see the DA take up strategic positions in government and in the legislatures.

The governing party, the ANC, scored 40.18% at the polls, the lowest results in 30 years of democracy.

The DA achieved 21.80%, while former president Jacob Zuma’s newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) scored 17.4%. Since the ANC did not meet the 50% threshold required for an outright majority, it would need a coalition partner in order to govern.
More on this

Speaking to Independent Media, on Monday, Sisulu said a coalition with the DA would be catastrophic for all the efforts made to transform the country.

“Firstly this looming disaster, if the ANC would ever partner with the DA, could’ve been avoided has the IEC (Electoral Commission of SA) done its work properly. I was instrumental in setting up the IEC because I was deputy minister of Home Affairs at the time when Buthelezi was minister of Home Affairs. I ended up signing a lot of the legislation which saw the IEC did its work properly.

“I would think that after 30 years the commission would be able to run a fair and transparent election. Since 26 parties complained about the counting and the results, the IEC for its own credibility should’ve issued a recount. That has brought us to this.

“In all the time I spent in prison fighting apartheid, I did not do it for the DA. The DA is the epitome of what the previous government represents. The idea that black parties cannot govern is very racist. It is an insult for people who oppressed us and who threw us in jail for fighting for justice to tell that we can’t govern.

“The president of the ANC cannot enter a coalition with any party without the NEC’s approval. He is president of the country because of the ANC voters. He will not throw those votes away. I hear the discussions in the media and in some quarters of society saying that it will be good for the country and good for capital if the ANC went into bed with the DA, well those the talks of capital. I know that the president has friends in capital, but capital doesn’t decide internal ANC matters. If it does then perhaps I’m in the wrong party” Sisulu said.

Asked if she supports an ANC-MK coalition, Sisulu said she doesn’t blame many of the soldiers that she trained with in the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) camp who later left the ANC.

“I was trained in MK. When we were in the camps I used to imagine that one day we’d come home dressed in our uniform and land at the airport to the salute of our people. But when we landed, the MK soldiers were starved. They were not taken care of, but other people, who came out of nowhere were the ones giving us orders.

“Today those people are at the top seats in our movement. The MK soldiers and comrades are our comrades. We must lead the ANC back to glory. I never thought I’d see the day when our very movement takes orders from Stellenbosch,” Sisulu said.

Hon. Murisi Zwizwai: Sleep Well Freedom Fighter!

By Dr.Phillan Zamchiya

Dear Reader,

Death is a villainous coward. It visited us in the family in the wee hours of the 1st of June 2024. Reader, as we slept, it robbed us of a family man, Morgan Tsvangirai (Save)’s treasure, a man of craft competencies, a gentle giant, a trusted loyal friend to many, a political negotiator, a pillar of the democratic struggle, a gifted humorous organizer, a loving and humble cadre and a freedom fighter. Once death strikes there is nothing you can do. Whether you are a high-flying scientist from Mars, death humbles you. Only Jesus Christ, Jesus of Nazareth conquered death. For us, made of flesh, dust we are and to dust we shall return. This was the reality as Honourable Murisi Zwizwai, an opposition politician, was finally buried at Glen Forest cemetery in Harare today the 4th of June 2024. Zwizwai was a mere 54 years old. Well, it is God’s choice and no appeal.

At this somber hour, I hear whispers and shrills trying to demonize Zwizwai, even in his death. Reader, remember we are only on earth temporarily. So, there is no need to flog a dead man. After all, none of us is without sin. You are only fortunate to be roaming the corridors of life. So, run your race, and wish the dead well. That is how we create a better world and prepare for eternity. Our African ubuntu does not allow such callousness over a dead body, especially over political differences whether real or perceived. Well, Zwizwai is gone. He cannot answer you. He is with his God. It seems the freedom fighters who saw it all, love and honour him still. That is why Advocate Nelson Chamisa, Tendai Biti, Sesel Zvidzai, Chalton Hwende, Lynette Karenyi-Kore, and many others were at his funeral to honor his heroic contribution to the struggle for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

Reader, Zwizwai was a true and loyal friend to Tsvangirai till the very end. A man of service and sacrifice. Very few people would know that Tsvangirai was a lonely man after losing power in 2013 and as cancer took its toll. I often went to Tsvangirai’s residence at 49 Kew Drive, Highlands in Harare, and found the old man in the gardens by himself. At times, Tsvangirai did not even have airtime or fuel to travel around and mobilize the political base. One of the people he could rely on was none other than Zwizwai. I remember Zwizwai giving Tsvangirai his car so that political mobilization for democratic change would not stop. When Tsvangirai’s medical bills became so astronomical, Zwizwai negotiated with the government to pay out Tsvangirai’s pension as former Prime Minister. He was not only a loyal friend but a brilliant negotiator who was always unassuming and calm but deadly in effectiveness. Reader, Zwizwai was loyal to Save even in the last days. We sat in many closed-door meetings together. I once spotted Zwizwai at an MDC Alliance rally in Mutare on 29 January 2018 wearing a white beard that he said ‘belonged to Tsvangirai’. It was an expression of loyalty to Save who was in the hospital battling cancer.

Zwizwai was also a trusted and loyal friend to many. Tsvangirai and Chamisa trusted him with sensitive political assignments that required a person of valor and exceptional negotiating skills. Zwizwai carried these assignments to the best of his ability sometimes risking his life. Reader, I have recently contacted several cadres from different factions of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). There was consensus that Zwizwai was a comrade with a good heart. I also read several obituaries even from far-away lands and the rhythm is the same. To me, this is a hallmark of a comrade. Sadly, in his last days, Zwizwai could not get as much as he gave to others. Perhaps his ultimate reward is with the Lord. However, there were many like Chalton Hwende who stood with him to the very end.

Reader, Zwizwai was a gifted organizer who used political humor to galvanise the Movement Democratic Change (MDC)’s social base for real change. I remember very well how he used to animate the crowds during the MDC election campaigns. As Senator Sesel Zvidzai said, ‘he was also a great speaker who mastered the effectiveness of figurative expression’. Zwizwai coined the slogans: ‘Todhla huchi na Tsvangirai’ (Honey time with Tsvangirai) and ‘Todhla huchi na Chamisa’ (Honey time with Chamisa) earning him the nickname Huchi (Honey). Mudhara Huchi’s famous slogan still reverberates in the minds of many, like yesterday. He would bellow: ‘Mugabe hambaaaaah, Tsvangirai Yaaah!’ to the delight of the crowd. He would then descend into a ‘Hambaaah, Yaaah, Hambaaah, Yaaah’ chorus with the crowds magnetically chanting along. I remember the inaugural MDC Alliance rally held at the Zimbabwe Grounds in the Highfields suburb of Harare on 5 August 2017. Reader, just after ZANU Ndonga delivered its message, Zwizwai stepped on the stage with his ‘Hambaaah, Yaaah’ chorus to wild cheers from the masses. Mudhara Huchi was organically linked. After the rally, I stopped at Club Joy in Highfields to buy Sadza Nenyama. To my surprise, the young revelers were still in a frenzy shouting ‘Hambaaah, Yahhh, Hambaaah, Yaaah’ with their brown bottles. That was impact. Ooh reader, at the same event, Zwizwai was so humorous. He even made the crowd recite the folktale: ‘The House that Jack Built’. It was a reference to the Alliance that Tsvangirai built.

Reader, Zwizwai had two types of crafts. He had both craft competency and craft literacy skills. He demonstrated this when he was a Member of Parliament for Harare Central from 2003 to 2020 [he was recalled by the MDC led by Dr Thokozani Khupe] and from 2022 to 2023. He was then appointed Senator in 2024 by Prof Welshman Ncube-led CCC formation but had no time to demonstrate his capabilities, as death knocked. This decision was largely unpopular with the grassroots opposition supporters. The circumstances are still to be told and the politics behind the politics is still to fully manifest. We shall hear. Reader, during the inclusive government from 2009-2013, Zwizwai exhibited his competencies as the Deputy Minister of Information when he pushed for media reforms and as Deputy Minister of Mines where he fought for the demilitarisation of diamond mining fields. Even the usually acerbic George Charamba, the spokesperson of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, ate humble pie and conceded that Zwizwai was ‘an excellent Deputy Minister of Information and Publicity under GNU, and during my time at the Ministry. We worked very well, even as we belonged to different parties’.

The opposition has lost a good and exemplary political competitor who accepted defeat gracefully. When Zwizwai lost the CCC primary election to represent Harare Central constituency in the 2023 general election, I asked him how he felt. He had some complaints about the process but he graciously accepted the result and wished the winner, Hon Lovemore Jimu, well. That is why Jimu felt it easy to attend Zwizwai’s funeral in Waterfalls. In some constituencies, competitors are sworn enemies. I also reached out to Hon. Gladys Hlatywayo who participated in the same primary election and she described Zwizwai as ‘an extremely good human being’.

Reader, Zwizwai was an extraordinary man of great love, generosity, and hospitality. He made his floral business space in Kensington, Harare a comfortable home for comrades from all walks of life. The place became known as ‘kumaruva’ in the local lexicon. Comrades like Hon. Chalton Hwende, Maureen Kademaunga, Happymore Chidziva, Wellington Chikombo, Tererai Obey Sithole, Jacob Mafume to mention a few, and others from as far as Mutoko would gather here under the sun, the moon and stars. As a gentle giant, Mudhara Huchi would prepare sadza, musoro wemombe, mabhonzo, mazondo, matumbu, and maguru for his guests. Of course, the delicacy meals were accompanied by fine whiskey and beers for comrades to refresh and discuss contemporary political issues. I now hear that when Chamisa took over power after Tsvangirai’s demise in 2018 most of the strategies were crafted here at Maruva, dear reader. Some comrades would leave with nice perfume gifts from Mudhara Huchi.

Whenever I met Huchi, his first question was, ‘Dr mauya nehuchi ere?’ (Dr have you brought fine whisky?). We would then laugh. I have always argued that fine whisky and apples are good for the brain. Reader, ‘maruva’ became home for many comrades. It is Chinua Achebe who said. ‘A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so’. For Mudhara Zwizwai, it was good for comrades to do so. Wherever he is, he would still love comrades to do so. Reader, it is good for comrades to have honey time. Now that Zwizwai is gone, I wonder who else can provide a home for comrades as ‘kinsmen’.

Go well, Mudhara Huchi. Go well freedom fighter. There is nothing we can do, for we are made of flesh. Your time of departure was at hand. Take pride in that you fought the good fight. You have finished your race. You have kept your faith. Reader, we tremble because we are still to finish our race. But to dust we shall also return, but at least Zwizwai returns with a legacy.

Lessons From SA…

Adios Azania.

Have spent a week in South Africa observing what will go down in history as a transparent, free, and fair electoral process.

The IEC demonstrated not just the capacity to conduct a free and fair process but also the ability to effectively use technology to both for the process and for keeping the public timeously informed.

We started with attending a pre-election conference where the electoral body hosted electoral experts, national commissions and acamedics from all over the world.

They clearly had nothing to hide:

Political parties campaigned freely.

No politically motivated arrests, no banning of rallies:

A timely and accurate breakdown and communication of the results in real-time.

An election is about respecting the will of the people.

South Africans have confidence in their systems- those in charge hold public office with the utmost humility and professionalism.

Congratulations Azania- a good milestone on her 30 years of democratic self determination.

A 62-year-old man from Chimanimani has been arrested in connection with multiple cases of rape and murder.

Police have confirmed the arrest of 62-year-old Daniel Chauke of Derera village under Chief Ngorima, who is facing three counts of murder and rape as well as nine other separate rape charges.

Chauke, who was on the police wanted list for suspected stock theft, was arrested on the 27th of last month in Usanga suburb of Chipinge after a tip off.

Circumstances are that on the 26th of last month, Chauke allegedly raped and murdered a 45-year-old Celia Maponese of Chipinge who was on her way to attend a family function in Mabheka area.

Police reportedly found the suspect in possession of the deceased’s mobile phone.

Chauke is also linked to several other rape cases which are being investigated.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed Chauke’s arrest.

While Chauke will have his day in court, there is a sense of relief among residents of Chipinge who have been living fear.

“We are now living in fear of the unknown especially us as women given that we are the ones who moves at,” said a Chipinge resident.

“As you know our buses leave town as early as 2 am and now with the rife in rape cases it’s no longer safe to travel. We call upon the judiciary services to impose extra harsh penalties to those found guilty of rape and murder so that it serve as a warning to other on how bad crime is,” said another.

The suspect is in police custody and expected to appear in court soon.

Tshabangu Vows To Silence Mnangagwa Critics

By A Correspondent

In a recent and surprising declaration, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-appointed interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has openly pledged his allegiance to Zanu PF, the ruling party in Zimbabwe.

Tshabangu’s stance has raised eyebrows within the political sphere, especially among opposition members who viewed the CCC as a critical counterbalance to the ruling party’s influence.

In a bold statement, Tshabangu did not shy away from expressing his intention to suppress any form of dissent within the ranks.

“It must be very clearly heard that during my tenure as the Government’s contact person in both the lower and upper house of Parliament (opposition), I’ll not tolerate any element of disunity, divisiveness, and lack of tolerance,” Tshabangu declared.

His remarks suggest a hardline approach to maintaining order and cohesion within the CCC, aligning it more closely with the ethos of Zanu PF.

Tshabangu’s rhetoric highlights a shift in his political alignment and signals a potential crackdown on critics of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“I’ll foster a development-mindedness throughout,” Tshabangu added, emphasizing his commitment to progress and stability, albeit through stringent measures against what he perceives as rebellious elements.

This development has sparked concern among opposition supporters and political analysts who fear that Tshabangu’s alignment with Zanu PF could undermine the CCC’s ability to effectively challenge the ruling party’s policies and actions.

The CCC was initially formed to provide a unified front against Zanu PF’s long-standing dominance, but Tshabangu’s recent declarations may signal a fracturing of that unity.

As Tshabangu steps into his role as the government’s contact person in Parliament, the political landscape in Zimbabwe may see significant shifts.

His pledge to eliminate disunity and divisiveness suggests a no-nonsense approach that could stifle dissent within the opposition and align it more closely with the ruling party’s agenda.

The implications of Tshabangu’s threats to deal with critics of Mnangagwa are profound.

If his words translate into action, the CCC may face internal purges and a potential loss of its critical voice against Zanu PF.

The coming months will reveal whether Tshabangu’s tough stance will indeed foster development and unity or whether it will erode the democratic fabric of the opposition, further entrenching Zanu PF’s power in Zimbabwe.

Murder Accused Man Arrested

By Farai D Hove| Harare, Zimbabwe – In a significant breakthrough, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Daniel Chauke (62) in connection with a series of heinous crimes, including multiple murders, rapes, and a case of stock theft, which occurred in Chipinge and Chimanimani between April 2022 and May 26, 2024.

Chauke was apprehended on May 27, 2024, following an investigation into a stock theft case and was subsequently brought to the ZRP Chipinge. During a search conducted by detectives, various incriminating items were recovered, including ladies’ clothing, a cellphone, and a machete, all hidden in a sack and bag. These items matched the description of goods stolen during a recent violent crime.

On May 26, 2024, Cylia Maponese (45) was found murdered in a bushy area along Usanga-Bangazani Road, Chipinge. The recovered items from Chauke’s possession were linked to this crime scene. Under interrogation, Chauke admitted to raping Maponese before killing her and stealing her belongings, including a cellphone, various ladies’ clothes, and US$10.00 in cash.

Further investigations have connected Chauke to another brutal murder on October 21, 2023, where a 54-year-old woman was raped and killed in Chikwanda Village, Usanga location, Chipinge. He is also implicated in the rape and murder of a 32-year-old woman on April 24, 2024, in Matakanyi Village, Chimanimani.

Cops Assaulted

Harare, Zimbabwe – In a brazen assault of a grade between street vendors and municipal authorities, two vendors have been brought before a Harare magistrate after attacking municipal police officers in the city’s Central Business District (CBD). The violent incident occurred during a police operation aimed at apprehending illegal vendors operating on the streets.

The two vendors, identified as Derreck Nyeke and Kelvin Chikono, had initially set up their stalls on the pavements along Cameron Street, near the Flyover. As municipal police began confiscating goods from these unauthorized vending sites, chaos erupted. Vendors scattered with their belongings but soon regrouped, launching a retaliatory attack on the officers.

In the ensuing altercation, a police Hino lorry, registration number AAE 8352, sustained damage to its quarter glass, highlighting the intensity of the clash. Despite the pandemonium, law enforcement managed to apprehend Nyeke and Chikono. Other participants in the assault fled the scene and remain at large.

Court testimony revealed the extent of the confrontation, with municipal police officers facing considerable resistance while carrying out their duties. The assault on law enforcement officers marks a significant escalation in the ongoing struggle to regulate informal trade within Harare’s central business district.

Nyeke and Chikono have been remanded in custody pending further proceedings, as the legal process takes its course. The incident has sparked a debate about the challenges faced by municipal authorities in enforcing regulations amidst the thriving informal trade sector.

As Harare continues to grapple with these issues, the assault on police officers serves as a stark reminder of the volatile environment in which these operations take place. The city’s efforts to manage illegal vending must now contend with the potential for violent resistance, raising questions about the future approach to such enforcement actions.

Chamisa Shows Statesmanship

By Political Reporter- The country’s leading opposition figure, Nelson Chamisa, showcased exemplary statesmanship by attending two funerals of senior members of his former party in a single day.

On Monday, Chamisa paid his respects at the funeral of the Opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) Senator, Murisi Zwizwai.

Zwizwai, the former Harare Central MP, was a long-serving opposition legislator and a committed democrat, according to Chamisa.

The veteran politician passed away on Saturday morning.
Following this, Chamisa mourned the death of William Zambezi, a dedicated social media campaigner known for his relentless advocacy for change in Zimbabwe.

Despite holding no official title, Zambezi was celebrated for his impactful online presence and his unwavering commitment to a better future for the country.

In a heartfelt message shared on X, Chamisa acknowledged Zambezi’s contributions: “I recently learned of the passing of @williamzambezi, a true Citizens’ hero.

Despite holding no title or position, William was clear in his purpose and played his part diligently. Although I never had the chance to meet him, his impactful contributions, especially on social media, were known to me.”
Chamisa took the initiative to visit Zambezi’s family in Chitungwiza, facilitated by local CCC leaders. Reflecting on the visit, Chamisa expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received and the family’s steadfast faith, which he found both humbling and inspiring. “Thanks to the assistance of Chitungwiza Citizens leaders, I located his home to pay my respects and offer condolences to his family. Their warm reception and unwavering faith left me humbled and inspired,” Chamisa wrote.
During this moment of loss, Chamisa highlighted the inevitable nature of death and the importance of preparing for it. He praised Zambezi for sowing the seeds of change during his brief life, underscoring the significant impact one individual can have on the collective effort for a better Zimbabwe. “While death is a painful inevitability, it also serves as a reminder for us to prepare for its certainty. In his brief life, William sowed the seeds for a better Zimbabwe, staunchly advocating for change in his own way.”
Chamisa concluded his tribute by extending his condolences to Zambezi’s young family, assuring them of continued support from the CCC community. “May his soul rest in peace as we continue to stand with the young family he left behind. RIP Citizens Hero.”

Republic Of Endless Rituals….

By Dr Raymond Chamba | I dreamt that the visit of some leader to some country is to consolidate their marine spirit occultic appearance to one Hak Ja Han- the South Korean head of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. Call it a South Korean marine spiritual battery recharge.

Hak Jan Hak was last here in 2018 and widely discredited by most church groupings. This is an acceleration of the attempted spiritual capture of the nation state. Vanhu ava havasikurara nenyanyaya “dzekunokora tsoka dzenyika”.

Musicians in African folklore are an extension of the language and access to our ancestry and spiritual power. It’s the reason why there was the program to capture their language and influence through the so-called free car proposition.

The most important part of this political-spiritual capture program remains the compromise of the last great lion of ancestral music and power gateway, the indomitable Thomas Mapfumo who used to connect fighters and the population to the last revolutionary thrust-Second Chimurenga. Mapfumo in his wisdom has resisted such sissy-boy overtures.

The East Africa visits (Guruuswa), Nyanga, Chipinge, Binga, Victoria falls galas were a structured attempt at spiritual capture of the essence of Munhumutapa. To our defence, there is massive resistance from the frenetic efforts of these marine spirit led shenanigans. They will all come down, humiliated, discarded and destroyed.

The naked state capture has reached dizzying levels and knows no boundaries. The hypnotic spiritual capture of this nation and region will not succeed as our people are experiencing a great spiritual and political awakening.

Dr Raymond Chamba

These imposters without natural and mass spiritual mandate to rule will not succeed. A cataclysm of resistance shall soon pervade the lands and wreak havoc in the pathways of political pimps, financial shysters, drug pushers and users writ large.

Tapera Confident Of Victory

Warriors coach Jairos Tapera says his team is targeting victories when they face Lesotho and South Africa in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers this week.

The Zimbabwe national team are yet to pick their first win in Group C of the qualifiers, having drawn the first two games.

The coach told ZIFA media during the team’s first training in Johannesburg on Monday that they are still studying their opponents but will not settle for less:

“We are still gathering information about our opponents and once we are done, we will compare it with our team.

“But I want to tell you one thing, we are here to win and nothing else. We’re going to give our all.”

On his initial assessment of the squad, the gaffer added:

“I’m happy with what I have seen at this moment, as you know, it’s our first day on the field of training.

“As we move forward, I think it’s going to be better. I’m happy with the team.”

Tapera’s charges will host the Lesotho on 7 June at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg before playing Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein four days later.
