How Zanu PF Rigged Elections In Mutasa Central

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change has taken the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission( ZEC) to court for rigging elections.

CCC Mutasa Central (15) has a raised a litany of irregularities in court papers.

See statement below:

Citizens Coalition For Change Mutasa Central Ward 15 takes ZEC to court over vote rigging.

07 April 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia would like to register its continuous solidarity with Mutasa Central Ward 15 which suffered from electoral malpractices on the 26th March by-elections.

The district supports the ward’s resolution to take ZEC to the Electoral Court contesting a festival of irregularities before, during and after the poll. It is now imperative to give all the moral, material and financial assistance to our foot soldiers who are enduring unprecedented torture, inhuman treatment and intimidation of voters in the motherland.

We have noted with fury that Zanu PF bases were dotted around 8 polling stations in Mutasa Central Ward 15. These bases were used to intimidate voters coercing them into voting the clueless ZanuPF.

What perturbs yellow revolutionaries in Namibia is that one polling station alone registered 210 assisted voters, a centre that under sane circumstances recorded 8-10 assisted voters. The huge discrepancies in the number of assisted voters between 2018 and 2022 elections are quite hypnotising and transfixing.

In 2018, Mutasa Central Ward 15 exhibited only 8-10 assisted voters but all of a sudden the ward witnessed astronomical numbers amounting to 349 voters out of 1461.

Remember that Zimbabwe is undoubtedly one of the most literate countries in Africa and the world with approximately over 90% literacy rate. It boggles the mind to witness people being compelled to be illiterate so that ZanuPF thugs could vote for them.

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia urges Mutasa Central Ward 15 to exhaust all remedies to defeat rigging of the people’s voice.

In addition to that, our people were frogmarched to ZanuPF meetings organised by traditional leaders who are being abused by the satanic Harare regime. We demand the neutrality of traditional leaders and the independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to avoid contested election results.

The assisted voter phenomenon became the game changer in Mutasa Central Ward 15 hence the need to approach the courts for justice. Defending the vote should start now before 2023! It is foolhardy to believe that with a literacy rate of about 96%, we have 10% voter disability! We demand free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe.

We applaud Mutasa Central Ward 15 for embracing our agenda 2022 which is quite clear on the need to have citizens’ action for change. The people’s vote needs protection from the captured state institutions. According to our yellow leadership in the ward, the presiding officers were informed about these irregularities but nothing was done to address that. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia is cobra-headed after giving all the moral , material and financial assistance to defend the vote. The district supports the initiative to take these rigging shenanigans head on. There is need to do everything peaceful in our means to defend the votes.

Furthermore, Mutasa Central Ward 15 is not the only one that suffered from this electoral fraud. Before the election, we saw Mboneni Ncube butchered in Kwekwe and dozens injured. The district witnessed incessant banning of our rallies in Gokwe, Marondera and Masvingo which is rigging in its own right. Our polling agents were being harassed and beaten by the satanic ZanuPF thugs on the election day in various parts of the country such as Epworth, KweKwe, Mwenezi, Gokwe, Chivi only to mention but a few.

In Makoni North, specifically Maruma Primary School Ward 4, our agent refused to sign the V11 forms because the elections were marred by rigging and vote buying. ZanuPF members including MP James Munetsi were gathered at 320 metres from the polling station coercing and intimidating yellow revolutionaries compelling them to pretend to be illiterate. This muzzling of the people’s right to vote must be resisted with equal measure. Let’s support Mutasa Central Ward 15 in its effort to promote an even political field which is free from voter manipulation by the sadist regime.

It’s very sad that the outcome of the poll did not reflect the will of the people. Voters were threatened, intimidated and coerced into surrendering their fundamental basic human right to elect candidates of their choice. We should pursue court petitions all over the disputed results across the breadths and lengths of the motherland. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia demands the independence of the judiciary.

Inquest Into Death Of A Chivhu Woman Assaulted By Police

By A Correspondent| Police have commenced conducting an inquest to ascertain the cause of death of a Chivhu woman, who died last year from injuries sustained as a result of severe assault and torture by its officers.

Mukaro, a mother of two, died early in September 2021 from injuries sustained as a result of the severe assault and torture inflicted uponher by Detective Steven Dondo and some police officers in a “Darkroom”at Chivhu Police Station, where she was detained after being accusedof stealing US$1 000.

The inquest to establish the death of Sharai Mukaro began on Wednesday30 March 2022 at Chivhu Magistrates Court and continued on Thursday 31March 2022 with Detective Dondo testifying and claiming that Mukaro’shusband Pastor Abinel Mukaro had told him that she had some heartproblems.

However, three witnesses namely Pastor Mukaro, the deceased’s husband, her daughter Ivy Mukaro and Pastor Mukaro’s workmate Pastor Nelson Chirambadare, told the court that Sharai wasassaulted under her feet by ZRP officers while in police custody.

According to a medical report, the cause of death of Sharai was as aresult of blood clots and indicated that several blows were inflictedupon her.

The inquest was only instituted after Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights issued a notice of intention to sueon Detective Dondo, ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe. In thenotice of intention to sue, Chinopfukutwa stated that Dondo fatally assaulted Mukaro after having threatened to kill her.

Chinopfukutwaprotested that the conduct of police officers who tortured Mukaro todeath is a breach of the constitutional obligation of the PoliceService to protect and secure the lives of Zimbabwean citizens asprovided for under Section 219(1)(c) of the Constitution.

The human rights lawyer also formally requested that the criminal investigations on the death of the deceased which were being handled by police officers from Chivhu Police Station be conducted by lawenforcement agents from another police station as he does not reasonably expect police officers at Chivhu Police Station to investigate themselves and accord justice to his clients, who arePastor Mukaro and Ivy.

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwean authorities are intensifying their onslaught against dissent with several people across the country appearing incourt answering to charges of undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In Shurugwi, 48 year-old Maria Mapfumo was recently arrested by some Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers, who charged her withundermining authority of or insulting President Mnangagwa in contravention of Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.In court, prosecutors accused Mapfumo of using derogatory language to insult President Mnangagwa during an altercation with Bernard Dangi, a ZANU PF Councillor under Tongogara Rural District Council in Shurugwi, wherein the 48 year-old woman allegedly stated that Dangi and President Mnangagwa were murderers who can connive to kill herhusband. Mapfumo’s husband, who is employed as a teacher had been accused by Dangi of abdicating his teaching duties and engaging in political activities.

ZLHR lawyer Jabulani Mhlanga, who represented Mpala challenged the prosecution of the train engineer without obtaining authority to prosecute from the Prosecutor-General and he was removed from remandand the State was ordered to summon him should it still want to proceed with prosecuting him.

In Bindura, Tinotenda Majuru, a 24 year-old man is scheduled to stand trial on 12 April on the same charges of undermining authority of orinsulting President Mnangagwa after he allegedly snatched beer and a ZANU PF party branded cap from another resident at Chiwaridzo BusinessCentre.

CCC Councillors To Decide Who Becomes Harare Mayor Following Mafume Recall

By- Harare City Council councillors failed to elect a new mayor for the city on Tuesday after a scheduled full council meeting was aborted at the eleventh hour.

Some MDC Alliance councillors boycotted the meeting, with some reports claiming that there was a plan to elevate acting mayor Stewart Mutizwa to fill the vacant post before the swearing-in of 28 CCC councillors on Thursday.

Chamber secretary Warren Chiwawa said that only 12 councillors attended, therefore, the meeting was postponed to Wednesday or Thursday.

Meanwhile, ZANU PF councillor for Mbare Ward 4 Martin Matinyanya criticised the absentee councillors for allegedly not taking council business seriously. He said:

This is the third time a meeting has been aborted because people are not sitting in for the meetings.

These same people are Nelson Chamisa’s puppets and do not consider poor services residents are receiving.

Harare service delivery is at a standstill, we need to improve yet other councillors are boycotting such important meetings.

These same councillors who are absent today are never late or absent from a workshop because they are very good at collecting per-diems.

The City of Harare will elect a new mayor to replace Jacob Mafume who was recalled by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Mafume was elected Harare mayor after Herbert Gomba was recalled by the MDC Alliance.

Parirenyatwa Hospital Staff Negligence Costs Baby’ Leg

By A Correspondent- Authorities at the state-run Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals have landed themselves in trouble after a newly born baby had her leg amputated less than one month after being born.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights reported that Tiny Masvaure, she ended up staying at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for more than three months in an isolated ward after her baby now aged one year and four months-old, had her leg amputated on 19 January 2021 because the leg had been infected.

“According to Masvaure, when she gave birth to her baby on 23 December 2020 at Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital, which is housed at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, she was told that there were no complications with the baby besides her being slightly under weight and she was advised that though she was a premature baby, she was healthy and the hospital wanted the baby to get up to 1.6kgs from her birth weight of 1.535 kgs before she gets discharged from hospital,” ZLHR said.

“The minor’s mother was further advised by the hospital authorities that her child would be placed on anti-biotic to prevent infections and she checked with the hospital whether the baby had infections to necessitate the administration of the antibiotic but she was informed that it was just a precautionary measure considering that she was a premature baby.

Masvaure says a cannula was then inserted on her baby’s hand and after two days she noticed that the baby’s hand was swelling and she proceeded to inform the nursing sisters who at first resisted her but after she insisted that her baby’s hand was swelling, the cannula was removed and pus was coming out from where the cannula had been sighted.

On 8 January 2021, the cannula was re-sighted onto the child’s leg and again after some hours, Masvaure realised that the baby’s leg was getting swollen and she immediately alerted the nursing staff who dismissed her as a troublesome parent and told her that it was normal for the leg to swell. The swelling continued with the baby’s leg changing colour and getting cold as compared to the other leg.

Masvaure did not relent on alerting the hospital staff who ignored her despite the baby crying continuously and appearing very uncomfortable.

An aggrieved Masvaure has now engaged Paidamoyo Saurombe of ZLHR, who recently wrote a letter of complaint to Parirenyatwa Groups of Hospitals and to the Ministry of Health and Child Care protesting and arguing that the unfortunate neglect and abuse of the baby by the hospital staff despite the protestations of the mother, had led to the minor’s leg being amputated.

Saurombe stated that authorities at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals made verbal admissions to Masvaure about the negligence and dereliction that had resulted in the baby being amputated and some overtures were also made to remedy the minor’s unfortunate situation.

However, no record has been provided to Masvaure despite her consistent demands that she be provided with hospital records. Instead, Masvaure consistently receives notifications of payments that she should make to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for the treatment her baby received from the medical facility.

Masvaure’s baby is now over a year-old and now that she is attempting to walk and stand and without one leg, she faces the grave danger of injuring her spine which will worsen her situation and confine her into a wheel chair for life.

Although Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals promised to provide a prosthetic leg when the baby was nine months-old, the promises have all but been empty.

Upon further medical advice Masvaure has also since been told that the amputation was not done procedurally as the baby would need constant operations as she grows up because of the bone that will be growing.

Saurombe asked Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals to provide Masvaure with all hospital records regarding her baby, all minutes on the investigations conducted on how the minor came to be amputated, provide a prosthetic leg for the baby and a comprehensive compensation plan for past and future medical expenses incurred and to be borne by the minor.

The human rights lawyer argued that according to Section 62 of the Constitution, which provides for access to information, Masvaure is entitled to be furnished with the requested information. In addition, Saurombe said Section 19(2)(c) of the Constitution obliges State authorities to protect children from maltreatment, neglect or any form of abuse.

He said failure to positively respond to Masvaure’s demands will leave him with no option but to employ legal measures to obtain the requested medical records

EFF Condemns Brutal Murder Of Zim National In Diepsloot

By A Correspondent- South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party has condemned the brutal murder of a Zimbabwean national, Elvis Nyathi, by a vigilante group in Diepsloot, north of Johanessburg on Wednesday night.

Team24 reported Nyathi’s family as saying the now-deceased had just returned from work when he was stoned and set on fire in the street by the mob.

Earlier in the day, police had clashed with protesters who were blocking roads and burning tyres, demanding that authorities take action against the high crime rate in the area.

In a statement, EFF blamed a vigilante group in South Africa that gained prominence by making door-to-door raids against perceived undocumented foreigners.

This was apparently in reference to Operation Dudula, a vigilante group whose leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini, whose real name is Ntlantla Mohlauhi joined the protest in Diepsloot. Pindula News is publishing he statement by EFF in full:

The EFF is dismayed and saddened by the painful news, that one Elvis Nyathi was stoned and burnt to death in Diepsloot, Johannesburg in the early hours of this morning.

In tragic, disturbing and unsettling news, Nyathi was a victim of the indiscriminate door-to-door raids by a vigilante group that has gained prominence on the basis of targeting and othering African foreign nationals.

The painful images which are populating South African television screens today are the ashes of what was once a human being, who was burnt alive simply because he could not provide a passport to individuals who have taken the law into their own hands.

Elvis Nyathi is a human being who has lost his life because a group of people have enforced a dompas system in Johannesburg that has resulted in harassment, invasion of property, theft, assault and extortion.

These vigilante groups attribute all crimes in this country to foreign nationals, without any scientific or crime statistics to corroborate their claims.

As a result, it has become a syndicate that extorts people, hijacks houses, loots African-owned retail outlets, burns the stores of Africans and today bums a human being to ashes.

These are the consequences of endorsing and sponsoring vigilante groups by popular media and the ruling party itself, which seeks to scapegoat its inability to fight crime, create jobs and provide adequate healthcare, to foreign nationals.

It is an objective fact that the hospitals of South Africa are collapsing because of a government that has no internal capacity to develop and maintain healthcare infrastructure.

There are no jobs in South Africa because this government refuses to industrialise and has outsourced the duty of job creation and economic growth, to a parasitic private sector.

Crime in South Africa is spiralling out of control, because of an incompetent and self-obsessed Minister of Police who has factionalised the police force and has allowed criminality to brew in the security cluster.

Domestic violence and abuse are perpetrated by the men of this country and the infiltration of drugs in our communities is enabled by South Africans themselves.

It has however become convenient to blame foreign nationals for all of these social ills because those leading our society refuse to take responsibility.

The refusal of the ANC to take responsibility for its failures and its abdication of the duty to create jobs and fight crime has led to the brutal killing of an African brother.

The EFF has long warned that if the various groups which are mushrooming on the anti-immigration ticket are not stopped, it will end in a loss of life.  It is unfortunate that in this instance, we have been proven correct.

The EFF will visit the family of Elvis Nyathi and ensure that justice is served to the family.

We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones, who have been robbed in the most brutal manner, of a father, a husband and a son.

May his soul rest in peace.

Note: “Dompass” was the official document that black people had to carry with them to prove their identity and where they could live or work in Apartheid South Africa.

CCC Youth Leader Shuts Doors On Ex-Mwonzora Ally

Citizens Coalition for Change youth leader Cecelia Chimbiri has expressed reservations on the move by former MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Fungai Chiposi to cross floors following his fallout with Douglas Mwonzora.

Chiposi announced that he was joining CCC as an ordinary member after breaking ranks with Mwonzora.

“The By-Elections of 26 March 2022 were an eye-opener for many including me. The people spoke and their voice was unanimous.

“Further, one on one in-person discussions with my team and residents of Kambuzuma, revealed that the people want a change of government and have placed their faith in CCC led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

“I have therefore decided to become an ordinary supporter of the Citizens Coalition for Change party led by Advocate Chamisa.

“I wish to be clear that I have not approached any of the CCC leaders before making this decision. I am not expecting any position in the party. I am an ordinary supporter of the party and will engage friends and family to come and support the citizens movement,” said Chiposi in a public statement shared on Twitter.

But Chimbiri said she is not comfortable relating with someone who spread lies on social media that she faked abduction.

“One who said we faked an abduction , one who rewrote my ordeal together with @JoanaMamombe @MarovaNetsai . one who added salt to injury It’s personal for me because I still have wounds on top of that being persecuted . I’m supposed to smile and just welcome because ??,” said Chimbiri.

Chiposi was dismissed from MDC-T after openly stating that they were rejected by the people because of their association with Douglas Mwonzora whom they accused of dining with the ruling Zanu PF party.

Humiliated Mwonzora On Purging Spree

Following a humiliating electoral defeat in the just-ended by-elections, MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has allegedly gone on a purging spree against members who question his leadership and the party’s poor performance in the March 26 polls.

Mwonzora’s MDC Alliance failed to win a single seat, with 19 of the 28 National Assembly seats being won by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa, while Zanu PF bagged nine.CCC also bagged 75 of the 122 local authority seats while Zanu PF got 47.

The MDC Alliance has blamed its failure on a wrong strategy.

“We got our strategy wrong. Someone was asking ‘how come you got your strategy wrong?’ This is my answer; Lionel Messi misses a penalty, doesn’t he? Diego Maradona missed a penalty, didn’t he? So strategists get strategies wrong sometimes,” Mwonzora said.

However, some of the candidates have openly questioned his leadership qualities, leading to their suspension or expulsion.

Mwonzora’s axe first fell on MDC-T Harare chairperson and losing Epworth parliamentary candidate Zivanai Mhetu.

“People in Epworth loved me. They wanted me to be their MP, but they did not like the party that I was representing,” Mhetu told NewsDay.

He said Mwonzora suspended him from the party verbally and was barred from the party headquarters.

“They hired party youths, bouncers and riot police so that they could bar me from attending a national council meeting,” he said.

Fungai Chiposi, MDC Alliance losing candidate for Kambuzuma, has also renounced his MDC-T membership after being expelled from MDC Alliance WhatsApp groups.

“I was removed from all Harare province social media groups. I have not received any explanation of why the party took these drastic actions. I, however, accept the decision to expel me from the party and I am, therefore, no longer a member,” Chiposi said.

In an apparent attack on Mwonzora, the party’s chairperson Morgen Komichi said: “No individual had the right to suspend any member without following due party processes.”

“There is reported harassment of some members of the party. Arbitrary decisions should not be left to party members to carry out willy-nilly, but if there is need to adhere to disciplinary measures, all members are enjoined to follow the due process of disciplinary proceedings,” Komichi said in a statement on Monday.

Zanu PF Blames NGOs For Chamisa’s By-elections Victory

By- Zanu PF leaders in Masvingo Province have blamed non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for the ruling party’s loss to CCC in urban wards in Masvingo in the 26 March by-elections.

Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa accused NGOs of giving money to people to persuade them to vote for CCC.

Mavhenyengwa singled out Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) as the culprit and warned that the ruling party has devised a counter-strategy ahead of the 2023 elections. He said:

We have done several meetings and it emerged that there were some organizations including COTRAD who were giving people money in urban wards.

We, therefore, came up with strategies that we will implement as we go into the 2023 harmonized elections but we can’t publicly speak about them right now.

Another thing that we noted is that there was generally low voter turnout on elections day so we will work very hard to win urban wards come 2023. I am confident that we will win more urban seats.

However, COTRAD Programs Manager, Zivanai Muzorodzi rejected the allegations, saying they are without foundation. He said:

Those are baseless allegations because we were simply observing the pre-election, voting process and post-election period.

People should learn to differentiate civic society and political parties because we are not aligned to any party.

Zanu PF arguably has a disdain for NGOs since the early 2000s as it accused them of funding the opposition MDC to effect regime change.

The suspect was apprehended and disarmed by the public.

Buffaloes Terrorise Masvingo Villagers

By-The Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has urged communities to stay away from stray buffaloes and desist from provoking wild animals.

This comes after herds of buffaloes were recently spotted in Masvingo and Manicaland provinces.

Tecla Muvori, a local villager in Svinurai and Mawadze in Zaka, Masvingo, said four stray buffaloes were spotted in the area. She said:

Ever since the buffaloes were spotted, we can no longer go out and herd our cattle near the hillocks where the buffaloes often graze.

Buffaloes are deadly, highly temperamental animals that can attack human beings without provocation.

The animals must be removed from our midst as soon as possible.

Zimparks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo urged villagers to avoid interfering with the stray wild animals’ movements. Said Farawo:

If I am not mistaken, this is the same herd that was also spotted in Chiadzwa in Manicaland.

As ZimParks, we are always on high alert and I urge communities not to provoke wild animals and to give them space for free passage.

MDC-T Senior Member Speaks On Dismal By-elections Performance, Mwonzora Coup

By- MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Fungai Chiposi said that he rejected calls from the party’s suspended Harare provincial chairman Zivai Mhetu to remove Douglas Mwonzora .

Chiposi said there were calls to remove Mwonzora following the party’s poor performance in the 26 March National Assembly and local authority by-elections.

Chiposi was the MDC Alliance candidate for Kambuzuma while Mhetu contested in Epworth. The duo lost dismally.

The MDC-T, despite contesting as the MDC Alliance in a move interpreted by political observers as a desperate attempt to ride on Nelson Chamisa’s popularity in 2018, failed to win a single National Assembly seat or ward.

This resulted in some party members especially losing candidates suggesting that Mwonzora must step down, with Mhetu instrumental in lobbying members toward the move.

Mhetu has since been suspended from the party while Chiposi was removed from the party’s WhatsApp groups and barred from entering Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, the MDC-T’s headquarters, for a National Council meeting last Friday.

Speaking to OpenParly, Chiposi said it is unfair to blame Mwonzora for the party’s poor showing without first doing a survey. He said:

The rumour had circulated; I was aware of some of the lobbying that was happening behind scenes. For some reason, I was the person that was not lobbied.

I think it’s because of my close connection to the president that I hold the president in high esteem.

My reason for not voting for the president to step down was the view I have of the man.

My second reason was that I thought it was too early to the election for us to be making decisions like that, especially if we don’t have what I would call empirical evidence that the people are not voting for us because we have Douglas Mwonzora as the president.

I think these are some of the things that we need to have a proper market survey so that we then know that this is what is affecting us. It may not be the president, it may be the message that we came with.

It may be certain things that were amiss in terms of addressing during the period that we came from 30 March just after the supreme court judgment up to now maybe some of those things.

Mnangagwa Apologist Stabbed

By- A Zimbabwean doctor who wept at a Zanu PF rally while praising President Emmerson Mnangagwa says he nearly died after he was stabbed in January this year.

The doctor, Patrick Mugoni, on Tuesday said he was stabbed with a knife in his abdomen and had to undergo multiple surgeries.

The attack is believed to have happened in South Africa where Mugoni now works despite claiming in 2018 that Zimbabwe’s public healthcare workers were privileged. Posting on Twitter, Mugoni said:

On January 9, 2022, I was attacked and sustained abdomino thoraco stab wounds after which I went through multiple surgeries.

I have suffered from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), it feels like the experience is a part of me, that I am bound to it and will be affected by its power forever.

However, thanks to the latest neuroscience, coupled with ancient ideas and methods, and following weeks of deliberate practise to unlock the psychological chains which bind me to my past I am finally winning the fight, thanks to the unrelenting efforts from the competent multidisciplinary team that has been attending to the task.

When I look at my life I am a living testimony. God is great, he has been faithful to me.

I will, in due time, share the details of the events leading to and the attack itself.

Currently, I am unable to because the matter is before the courts.

In May 2018, Mugoni, who was the secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA), attended a ZANU PF conference in Gweru.

While addressing the delegates, he thanked Mnangagwa for a salary increment but then broke down and failed to finish his speech.

In 2020, Mugoni left his job in the public sector and joined thousands of doctors and nurses who have moved abroad. He now works in Pretoria, South Africa.

Binga Pirates Fans Bash Referee

ZIFA Southern Region Division One side Binga Pirates will be summoned to appear before a disciplinary hearing after the team’s fans assaulted referee Hardly Ndazi accusing him of bias in a home match that they lost to ZPC Hwange on Saturday.

ZPC Hwange came from behind to beat Binga Pirates 2-1.

Binga Pirates had led two minutes into the game, but the visitors equalised deep into the first half after they were awarded a penalty which was converted by Carrington Gomba.

Fortune Nkomazana had been hacked down inside the penalty box and a no-nonsense Ndazi, who has had problems with a number of clubs, including in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), pointed to the spot and Gomba converted.

Nkomazana then scored the winner and after Ndazi blew to end the game, he was accosted by a member of the Binga Pirates technical team and club fans who assaulted him.

A video of Ndazi being pummelled by fans has gone viral on social media.

It could not be established if Ndazi reported the matter to the police, but Zifa Southern Region board member (finance) Tizirayi Luphahla yesterday said Binga Pirates would face disciplinary action over the matter.

“We will be summoning them for a disciplinary hearing. We are still waiting to get the match commissioner’s report and then we can take appropriate action,” Luphahla said.

“We don’t take kindly to such kind of behaviour like what happened in Binga. We are not sure if anyone was arrested, but we are awaiting for  reports from the referee and the match commissioner. Hopefully, we get those by Wednesday (today). But before the disciplinary committee processes start, we will obviously invoke other administrative processes. For instance, they (Binga Pirates) can’t continue to use that stadium if people are going to be molested. We are going to set a very good example,” Zifa Southern Region chairperson Andrew Tapela said.

Barbourfields Stadium early last month, in a PSL match pitting Bulawayo Chiefs and Dynamos, there was a 15-minute stoppage after the visitors protested a penalty that had been awarded to the Ninjas by Ndazi.

Dynamos fans threw missiles onto the pitch and in the ensuing melee, a fan believed to be a Dynamos supporter invaded the pitch and confronted the referee.

Dynamos have since been summoned to appear before a PSL disciplinary committee for the untoward behaviour of their fans.

The Glamour Boys are believed to have expressed reservations over the Hwange referee handling the match against Bulawayo Chiefs.

It was not the first time Dynamos had issues with Ndazi.

Meanwhile, Hwange continued with their unbeaten run in the Division One even after the departure of their head coach Bongani Mafu, who has since joined Ngezi Platinum Stars as assistant to Benjani Mwaruwari.

Hwange beat CIWU 5-0 to maintain their position at the top with nine wins and three draws from 12 games with 31 points.

CCC Exposes Mnangagwa Hypocrisy

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is wasting State cash on useless foreign trips, Citizens’ Coalition For Change Namibia has said.

While Mr Mnangagwa’s so called new dispensation has dismally failed to make a positive impact in terms of transforming the lives of citizens, President Hakainde Hichilema is working tirelessly to transform the economy the Republic of Zambia.

See CCC Namibia statement:

President Hichilema Haikande (HH) is a paragon of virtue in Africa: CCC Namibia postulates!

05 April 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia applauds the pragmatic and organic President of the Republic of Zambia Haikande Hichilema for implementing the ideals of a social democratic struggle where political leaders are ready to serve their people without a salary. It appeared fictious when it reached our ears that the extraordinary democratic fighter went 8 months without government salary.

This is the kind of governance we are yearning to have in the motherland instead of a corrupt and satanic regime determined to continue looting the national cake with impunity.

It was exhilarating to hear that the Zambian Ministry of Finance has disclosed appetizing news that President Haikande Hichilema has gone 8 months without a government salary from the juncture Zambians elected him as the Head of State on the 12th August 2022. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia is greatly inspired by such a unique gesture bearing in mind what is happening in our country. We really long to have such a sensitive leadership in Zimbabwe. Mr President’s commitment and dedication to serve the people at the expense of selfish needs is a clear testament to servanthood. This the nature of democratic leaders we want in Africa and the globe. Thank you Mr Haikande Hichilema for demonstrating servant leadership. You are an inspiration in our new baby! SADC leaders should watch and learn.

When asked why? Ministry of Finance sources clarified that each time efforts to pay the President are made the President responds by saying , “let’s focus on working for the people of Zambia. It is service to the people and not self-service”. The reasons given by the revolutionary are a genuine fulfillment of the dreams and aspirations of the heroes and heroines who fought for the liberation of Zambia. President Hichilema has demonstrated his ability to walk the talk of social democracy. As Zimbabweans we wish if we would have such kind of leadership with the seriousness to revamp the sunken economy, we will achieve socio-economic transfiguration.

In antithesis with the concerns affecting the downtrodden masses in Zimbabwe, Mr Mnangagwa and ZanuPF are busy milking the national cake. And President Hichilema has reiterated his concrete position that he does not desire to be identified with multiple titles such as His Excellency but he would rather be addressed as Mr President because he supposes that thousands of titles generate autocrats and hero worshipping. He has the conviction that it is not a title that delivers work but one’s seriousness in the transformational agenda. He criticised clamour for titles as an inferiority complex. Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia believe that leaders should be prompted by the strong desire to implement social liberation policies.

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia would like to encourage Mr Mnangagwa to emulate our doyen of social democracy in the neighbouring Zambia President Haikande Hichilema who is sacrificing for the betterment of the country. The district is cognisant of the fact that Mr Mnangagwa is the 5th highest paid President in Africa when our economy is bleeding. This is incontrovertible evidence of extreme greedy and indifference to the people’s pathetic experiences. He takes home a monthly salary of KHR 50,030,651.25 worth estimated at 10 million per month. We condemn this insensitivity and insatiable appetite to loot using state apparatus as springboards for the primitive accumulation of the national cake.

As if this unrealistic salary is not enough, ZanuPF regime led by Mr Mnangagwa continues to squander national resources on behalf of the downtrodden masses who are scratching their heads for a single nutritious meal per day.

In 2014, Mr Mnangagwa was earning US200,000. Soon after rigging the July 2018 elections, Mr Mnangagwa and his bloated entourage splashed US$12million on travel expenses between January and September 2019 when the clueless government was seriously battling to put the economy on a sounder footing.

We demand servanthood in our leadership that’s why Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia have chosen President Advocate Nelson Chamisa as the only objective leader who can match our paragon of virtue Mr President Haikande Hichilema. We are proud to have a sister party President who is committed and dedicated to seeing better livelihoods of our suffering. Our leaders in Zimbabwe must be ashamed of their senseless and barefaced corruption when others are sacrificing their personal salaries to revamp the sunken ship. Thank you Mr President Haikande Hichilema for fulfilling the ideals of the revolution.

Sekai Nzenza Promises To Revive Ziscosteel in 2023

Zimbabwe’s Industry and Commerce Minister whose name literally means: “laugh at idiots,” Dr Sekai Nzenza has promised to revive Ziscosteel in 2023.

Defunct steel giant, Ziscosteel, is expected to be up and running in the next 12 months, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza has said.
Dr Nzenza said the Government was proactive in its development agenda and for the first time in over two decades, Ziscosteel would be back on its feet.

She said there had been doubts over the revival of Ziscosteel after the previous administration signed unsuccessful deals with potential investors such as Essar Holdings of Mauritius and R & F Construction company of China.

“This is now a different story with the new Government led by President Mnangagwa. His mantra is production and production and the resuscitation of Ziscosteel is one of this Government’s top priority,” she said.

Dr Nzenza, who was meeting Ziscosteel management and its new partner, Kuvimba Mining House at the company premises in Redcliff on Tuesday, said Ziscosteel was a national asset and its revival was one of the Second Republic’s key deliverables.

“Zisco is a national asset and every other industry is either an upstream or downstream industry. This is why the new administration is determined to make sure that Ziscosteel gets back to its feet in the next 12 months before it gradually gets back to its former glory,” she said.

Dr Nzenza said the Government had identified a local company to partner and invest into Ziscosteel after many foreign investors previously failed to fulfil their initial agreements.

“President Mnangagwa is on record saying Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans, we must build our nation as Zimbabweans and we are very confident of this local firm which has come on board with vast expertise to turn around Zisco,” she said.

The Minister said Zimbabwe was endowed with vast mineral deposits and Ziscosteel would be taping on the availability of these resources for its resuscitation.

Once the company was up and running, Zimbabwe will reduce its huge import bill on steel products.

“President Mnangagwa has been passionate about this import bill substitution agenda. We need value addition and we have the resources and this is why we are determined to have this company back,” she said.

Ziscosteel board chairman, Engineer Martin Manuhwa, said there would be a US$300 million capital injection to kick-start the revival of Zisco.

The capital injection is expected to grow to up to $1 billion in the next three years.

Eng Manuhwa said Kuvimba Mining House had mobilised a team of experts who are now on the ground for feasibility studies, among other issues.

At its peak, Ziscosteel used to employ about 6 000 people directly and over 50 000 others indirectly.

It was one of the largest steel producers in Southern Africa. Herald

By- The ever travelling Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned from Mozambique.

Zanu PF Mash-Central Terror Campaign Leader Dies

By -Notorious Zanu PF Central Committee member, who was terrorising opposition party members in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central province, John Nhamburo has died.

He was 41.
Nhamburo died at Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare this Tuesday morning after a short illness.

Zanu PF Mazowe District Coordinating Committee Secretary for Information, Kushinga Dutiro confirmed the development describing Nhamburo’s death as a huge loss to the ruling party.
He told the state media that the party has lost a cadre who still had a lot to offer in politics after becoming a member of the ZanuPF central committee at a young age.
Nhamburo was a former Zanu PF national youth executive member.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Last month, Nhamburo was accused of deliberately running over and killing a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member.
His actions resulted in massive uproar as police hesitated to bring him to book.
Opposition CCC claims that Nhamburo was in the habit of terrorising villagers in Ward 2 in Chaona.

Chaona is in Chiweshe in Mashonaland Central Province.

MDC-T Senior Member Speaks On Mwonzora Coup

Mnangagwa Introduces Useless $100 Note

By- The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has introduced yet another useless $100 note.

RBZ said the useless $100 banknotes would ease cash shortages and enhance transacting convenience.
Currently, the $50 note, injected last July is the highest in circulation and continues to depreciate. Other notes include $20, $10, $5 and $2.

Statutory Instrument 68A of 2022 642A, which announced the useless development was gazetted on Tuesday and it reads:

“The Minister of Finance and Economic Development has hereby, in terms of section 40(3) of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Act [Chapter 22:15], made the following notice specifying the matters determined by the President in terms of subsection (2) of that section:—
“This notice may be cited as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Issue of One Hundred Dollar Banknote) Notice, 2022. Issue of one-hundred-dollar banknote” reads part of the statement.

Mnangagwa Hunts-Down Anti Malaba Female Judge

By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed a tribunal to investigate High Court judge Justice Edith Mushore’s suitability for office for allegedly failing to report for duty for months.

Justice Mushore is said to have reported for work in June last year.

According to law judges cannot be absent from work for more than three days without official leave.

Coincidentally, Justice Mushore was one of the judges who ruled last year that Luke Malaba ceased to be Chief Justice upon reaching mandatory retirement age.

In Proclamation 3 of 2022 published on Tuesday, Mnangagwa appointed retired judge Justice Maphios Cheda chairperson of the tribunal, and Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs secretary Virginia Mabhiza its secretary.

Mahere Eyes Mt Pleasant Seat

By- Nelson Chamisa led Citizens Coalition for Change spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere is said to be eyeing Harare’s Mt Pleasant constituency in the 2023 national polls.

Mahere contested the seat in 2018 as an independent candidate but lost to MDC Alliance’s Samuel Banda.

There are also reports that several Chamusa senior members were fighting for urban seats.

CCC won 19 of the 28 seats in the 26 March by-elections, while ZANU PF won 9. The opposition party also got 75 of the 122 contested Council seats while ZANU PF won the remainder.

The majority of seats won by CCC are within cities and towns, making them safe for opposition politicians who are afraid of contesting in rural areas.

CCC interim foreign affairs secretary Gladys Hlatywayo is reportedly eyeing the Harare Central seat, which has been held by Murisi Zwizwai since 2003.

Political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya said the opposition vote in Harare Central has been declining over the years. He tweeted:

Enter Hlatywayo of CCC. She promises to rock Harare Central, whose opposition vote has been in sharp decline to pitch it at more than 30 000 for Nelson Chamisa if the CCC chooses her as their MP for 2023.

The late Morgan Tsvangirai’s son Richard is planning to contest the Norton seat, which is currently occupied by independent MP Temba Mliswa.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was formed early this year and the party doesn’t have structures and a constitution.

Mnangagwa A Selfish Ruler

Grandpa Guilty Of Attempted Murder After Attacking Tenant

A 93-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Makokoba suburb who was found guilty of attempted murder after he used a knobkerrie to attack and break his tenant’s arm, escaped jail by a whisker after the court exercised leniency due to his advanced age and sentenced him to just two minutes imprisonment.

Thomas Ndiweni who was angered by his tenant Mr Steven Nyathi (57)’s failure to pay rentals, hit him with a knobkerrie twice on the head and once on the left arm.

Ndiweni was convicted on his own plea by Tredgold magistrate, Mrs Jesse Kufa last week.

He, however, through his lawyer Mr Simbarashe Innocent Madzivire from Tanaka Law Chambers pleaded with the court to be lenient given that he was a first-time offender and that he was old.

Mr Madzivire said Ndiweni was of Nguni origin and did not carry the knobkerrie to beat Nyathi but it was part of his culture.

Mrs Kufa said throwing Ndiweni in jail was like sentencing him to death due to his advanced age. She said:

The accused pleaded guilty and looks an elderly person beyond the mark of 90 years. He is, however, facing a serious offence, which warrants a custodial sentence but given his advanced age the court submits that such a sentence will not meet the justice of the case.

One needs to pass a sentence that suits the accused and the offence he is facing.

Mrs Kufa said the accused was not just old but also frail.

She ruled that Ndiweni would serve his sentence from the moment she finished announcing the sentence and the time the court rises which is a sentence whereby the Judge/Magistrate deems that attendance at court is sufficient punishment.

Mr Nyathi who was as of Monday still nursing his injury said as a result of the beating, he could not fend for himself as he is a pushcart operator.

Chelsea, Real Madrid Clash In Epic Champions League Tie

Real Madrid players will go into battle against Chelsea in tonight’s crunch Champions League quarter final first leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with two things in mind.

The 13 time European champions have done everything in their illustrious history, except for beating Chelsea or any team coached by Thomas Tuchel, in a competitive match.

A NG’olo Kante-inspired Chelsea knocked out Madrid in the semi-finals of Europe’s premier club competition last season, on their way to the title.

A lot has changed since then, but what remains the same is that Real have never beaten Chelsea in a competitive match in modern football, nor have they won a game against a club managed by Tuchel.

There were fears that Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will not be on the bench due to Covid-19 related complications but the Italian has tested negative for the novel virus and will be in the dugout.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Two La Liga Sides Eye Warriors Goalkeeper

Warriors goalkeeper Martin Mapisa has reportedly attracted interest from two La Liga sides.

The goalie, who is a product of the Aces Youth Soccer Academy, is currently on a half-season loan at UD Llanera from Zamora CF which expires on June 30.

Asked about the news, ACES director, Nigel Munyati, refused to give more details, he confirmed a deal was in the oven pertaining to the historic move.

“Mapisa (Martin) hopefully can secure a move into one of the La Liga clubs this coming transfer period but unfortunately I cannot divulge more on the goings-on,” the academy boss revealed to the Herald.

“I am very happy and everyone is excited to see one of our own products attracting the interests of such big teams in world football,” said Munyati.

“It is so inspiring to the up-and-coming players who should know that some of their mates are attracting world attention and it is up to them as well to prove their worth as well. Opportunities are always there.”

Mapisa has started five straight games for UD Llanera after returning to the team following a month-long absence when he was with the Warriors at this year’s African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Mapisa has conceded just three goals in those five matches.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

McCarthy To Join SuperSport United?

Supersport United are reportedly courting Benni McCarthy with a view of appointing him ahead of next season.

According to FarPost.co.za, the club has already started talks with the gaffer following his departure at AmaZulu last month.

Should both parties reach an agreement, McCarthy would then replace Zimbabwean coach Kaitano Tembo, who is likely to be deployed to another post within the technical team.

COURTING BENNI#FARPost has it on good authority that SuperSport United are in talks with Benni McCarthy, who recently parted ways with AmaZulu.

McCarthy could be joining Matsatsantsa ahead of next season. pic.twitter.com/tLwGmxVPCX

— FARPost_ZA (@FARPostZA) March 31, 2022

Tembo has been at SuperSport United for over two decades now, both as a coach and player. He has been at the helm for the past four years.

The appointment would see the two coaches working together following their publicized bust-up during a league match in September, last year.

McCarthy was caught on camera calling his SuperSport United counterpart “broke” and claimed that Tembo had provoked him at the first place.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Health Talk

With Sandra Sadziwa

Ovarian cysts are solid or fluid-filled pockets in or on your ovary.

They’re common, especially in women who are pregnant or who haven’t gone through qmenopause yet. Most of the time, they’re painless and harmless.

You might get one every month as part of your menstrual cycle and never know it. They usually go away on their own without treatment.

A cyst becomes a problem when it doesn’t go away or gets bigger. It can become painful.

There’s also the possibility of cancer, but it’s rare. The chances go up as you get older.

Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Most ovarian cysts are small and don’t cause any problems.

When there are symptoms, you might have pressure, bloating, swelling, or pain in one side of your lower belly.

This pain may be sharp or dull, and it can come and go.

Sudden, severe belly pain

Pain with fever and throwing up

Dizziness, weakness, or feeling faint

Fast breathing

These things could mean your cyst has caused the ovary to twist.

Ovarian Cyst Causes
Most cysts are “functional.”

They’re a part of your monthly cycle.

Types of Cysts Follicle cyst.

Your ovaries usually release one egg each month. It grows inside a tiny sac called a follicle.

When th HBe egg is ready, the follicle breaks open and releases it.

If the sac doesn’t open, it causes a follicle cyst. These often go away in 1 to 3 months.

Corpus luteum cyst.

Once the egg is released, the empty follicle usually shrinks and helps get ready for the next egg.

It becomes a cyst when it closes back up and fluid collects inside. It may go away in a few weeks. But it may bleed or cause pain as it grows.

Others are nonfunctional. In some women, their ovaries make a lot of small cysts.

This condition is called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

It can make it hard to get pregnant. Other nonfunctional cysts may be caused by cancer.

Ovarian Cyst Risk Factors

Things that may make you more likely to get ovarian cysts include:

Hormonal problems. Taking the fertility drug to help you ovulate can increase your risk of cysts.

Pregnancy

The cyst that forms during ovulation may stay on your ovary after you get pregnant and throughout your pregnancy.

Endometriosis. Cells that usually line the inside of your uterus grow outside it.

These wayward cells can attach to your ovary and cause a cyst to grow.

A severe pelvic infection. If this spreads to your ovaries, it can cause cysts there.

A previous ovarian cyst. If you’ve had at least one ovarian cyst before, you’re more likely to get others

Ovarian Cyst Complications

Some women can have unusual complications with ovarian cysts. Your doctor might pick these up during a pelvic exam, so it’s important to get regular checkups.

Ovarian torsion. If cysts grow large, they can make the ovary move and twist.

This twisting (ovarian torsion) is very painful.
Rupture.

Cysts can break open, causing severe pain and bleeding, especially if the cysts are large. Vaginal sex and other activities can make a rupture more likely.

A ruptured cyst sometimes heals on its own, but often, it’s a medical emergency.
Infected ovarian cyst. An ovarian cyst can develop in response to a pelvic infection, forming an abscess. If the abscess bursts, dangerous bacteria can spread through your body.

Ovarian Cyst Treatment

Most cysts go away on their own. Your doctor may suggest watching and waiting for changes.

Your doctor can give you medicine for pain. They might also prescribe birth control pills.

The hormones in the pills won’t make the cysts go away, but they can help prevent new ones.

Some ovarian cysts need surgery. That includes those that are large, don’t go away, or cause symptoms.

You could also need surgery if you’re near menopause, because cysts are more likely to be cancerous.

Depending on your case, the surgeon may take just the cyst or the entire ovary.

There are different types of surgery:

Laparoscopy is for smaller cysts. The doctor makes a tiny cut above or below your bellybutton.

A small tool with a camera allows your doctor to see inside, and a different tool removes the cyst or ovary. You probably won’t have to stay in hi the hospital overnight.

Laparotomy is for cysts that may be cancerous. It is done with a bigger cut in the belly.

Zim Plunges Deeper In Debt Crisis

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) and the Zimbabwe Public debt Indaba (ZPDI)  have said there are rising concerns over the deepening debt crisis in Zimbabwe.

In its latest report Zimcodd said the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) debt statistics confirm the reversal of micro economic gains with the consolidated  debt now projected at US$19.03 billion at the conclusion of Article IV consultation with Zimbabwe on March 21, 2022 which acknowledged fiscal signs.

The Organization said the heavy in-debtedness is at the core of Africa’s socio economic development challenges and Zimbabwe is not an exception.

“Dept servicing diverts the money meant to finance public expenditure resulting to poor access to public services such as water, health, education and sanitation,” reads the report.

The ballooning, US$19,03 billion consolidated public sector debt  represent 61,8% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) a threshold above acceptable ratio with Public and publicly guaranteed external debt standing at US$17,59 billion of which arrears are at US$13,1 billion.”

Zimcodd said all the huge amounts of debts  are a major driving force to poverty and inequality in Zimbabwe as it has been noted that some women in Binga struggle to access material health care.

It noted ballooning debt amid the spiralling illicit financial  flows and failure to widen government revenue from the country’s vast mineral wealth.

“Government has a US$12 billion mineral export earnings target by 2023, yet the mining tax revenue targets to finance basic service provision are barely mentioned,” it said.

“From US$50 billion lost annually as revealed by the African Union or Economic Commission from Africa’s High Level Panel Report on illicit Financial flows, Africa loses more than US $88,6 billion annually according to United Nations Trade and development’s Economic Development in Africa Report 2020.”

Council In Soup Over Death Of Student

By A Correspondent- A Harare man is demanding at least USD 1 663.00 from the City Fathers following the death of his son who was ran over by a municipal police vehicle in Central Business District (CBD) on March 22.

Following the death Tatenda Vambe (21), City Council failed to make a follow up with the family of the deceased who incurred the burden of meeting the funeral expenses.

A letter submitted to the City of Harare on Tuesday by Lovemore Vambe, father of the deceased indicate that the City Fathers neglected the funeral and has never made any formal communication with the family of the deceased.

“On the 22nd of March 2022 a City Council vehicle driven by Benard Kunaka (City Council Traffic) during a routine operational service, ran over Tatenda Vambe (21) my second born son leading to his death. Following the death of a promising student we haven’t received any form of intervention and communication from the City Fathers. As a family we had to incur the burden of meeting all the funeral expenses on our own.”

Vambe  blames the Council for the death of his son and is demanding USD 1 663.00 for the funeral expenses that he incurred.

“It is clear that the City Council is solemnly responsible for the death of my son, therefore I am demanding that the City Council reimburse all the funeral expenses that we incurred during the funeral . We are demanding at least USD 1 663.00 as soon as possible. “

The expenses include payments made at the funeral parlour, fuel,  transport, food and groceries.

Tsenengamu Mourns Zanu PF’s Central Committee Member Nhamburo

By A Correspondent- Former ZANU PF youth political commissar  has sent his condolence message on micro blogging Twitter following  the death of ZANU PF central committe member John Nhamburo who died on Tuesday morning after a long illness.

Tsenengamu rose to fame in Mashonaland Central province where he worked closely with Nhamburo under ZANU PF.

“He was a colleague in the ZANU PF Youth League and in the Central Committee.MHDSRIEP Waenda yahwe (Cde John) Jonathan Nhamburo,” said Tsenengamu.

However there is joy in Citizen Coaliation for Change (CCC) camp following the death of Nhamburo after ,falsely accusing him of running over their supporter Shelton Zangaro.

Zangaro was allegedly ran over by a ZANU PF official Vote Chidanhamabwe on March 26 who was driving a black Mercedes-Benz registration number AET 4195  in a road traffic accident.

Chidanhamabwe told  a local publication that he regretted the accident and contributed towards the funeral of Zangaro.

“It was me who fatally knocked down Zangaro the incident was very unfortunate but l managed to contribute towards the funeral,” explained Chinanhamabwe.

ZANU PF  Mazowe District Coordinating Committee DCC secretary for administration  blasted Sikhala for fabricating a story against Nhamburo.

“It is so disturbing  to note that Sikhala is fabricating stories against our hero Nhamburo, it is well- known that our comrade was sick for sometime the difference here is that Sikhala is a celebrity while Nhamburo was a politician we urge CCC celebrities to verify facts before going, public,” Chawana said.

UANC Women’s League Maps The Way Forward Ahead Of 2023

By A Correspondent- The United African National Council women’s league last week, Thursday held their first meeting in Harare

The meeting was attended by representatives drawn from the country’s 10 provinces. Top on the agenda of the meeting was mapping the way forward ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In a speech read on his behalf, the party’s leader and president Rev Dr Gwinyai Muzorewa said:

“It is my joy today to gather the party’s women’s leadership from all the provinces, We have gathered here for the birth  of United African National Council women’s league.  As from today the UANC will now be visible to form Zimbabwe’s alternative government in 2023.”

UANC is the first Zimbabwean political party to take the office in 1979 and was led by the now late Bishop Abel Muzorewa.

Muzorewa led the country while talks for the holding of the country’s first elections were underway in 1980.

Bishop Abel Muzorewa passed away in 2010 and in 2017 the party held it’s congress where his son Dr Rev Gwinyai Muzorewa was elected as the new party President.

Ms Essof who is the national chairperson for the UANC urged women to work hard and contribute towards national development.

“Women are key in the nation building, Every woman should participate in building Zimbabwe. You are the family leaders who should also  stand and tell the nation about the Zimbabwe you like not like what we see today. Family morale has deteriorated in our lovely nation due to the economic decline that is perpetrated by poor leadership so as women let’s stand up against such,” said Ms Essof

” Today’s opposition is misleading the nation ,it goes around claiming and telling the poor suffering citizens to vote for them whilst they go to the western countries seeking for the sanctions that causes more sufferings to the ordinary citizens” said UANC  Secretary General.

” UANC is known for being a peaceful party , party that unites the nation ,party that embraces ethnic , regional and religious diversity . We are known for delivering our promises , affordable houses , paying good salaries to teachers , nurses , doctors and all other civil servants and we don’t abuse our security forces. So in 2023, we are taking over our Zimbabwe as we shall rebuild ,revamp ,repair and restore all the nation’s institutions  that need a serious overhaul .”

United African National Council has various aligned projects that will uplift communities and these includes borehole drilling, roads rehabilitation, soap manufacturing to mention a few. In 2018 general elections UANC had 89 candidates for national assembly by due to some insignificance only 29 qualified but they did not manage to win but this time they are confident of wining as they use “musangano wadzoka” mantra

22 Villagers Who Beat To Death Fellow Villager On The Run

By A Correspondent- Police in Matabeleland South province have launched a manhunt for 22 villagers alleged to have kidnapped and assaulted fellow villagers whom they accused of stocktheft.

This was revealed in a Gwanda Tuli police internal memorandum dated April 3 which was leaked to the Southern Eye yesterday.

The memo identifies the complainants as Godwill Ndlovu (36), Justice Ncube (late), Mirriam Ndlovu (28), Letwin Maphosa (38), Shanisani Dube (29), Patricia Dube (36) and Darlington Dube (32) all of John West, Gwanda area under Chief Marupi in Matabeleland South.

Police identified the suspects as Tiiso Nkala (45), Mujaji Sebata (46), Noble Mahlangu (36), Muzi Ncube (36), Mthandazo Mahlangu (50), Mphilo Ndlovu (46),  Jacob Dube, Philani Moyo (38) and Freeman Mlauzi, Phathisani Manyike, Obert Moyo, Degree Ndlovu, Foresure Ndlovu, Lovemore Nyathi, Polite Kukubell, Tsibo Noko, Owen Nyathi, Prince Nyathi, Carlison Mahlangu, Trinity Masiyane, Obert Moyo and Tisetso Nkala whose ages were not given, and are all from the Guyu area in Gwanda South.

The police memo states that on March 31, 11 Motswana nationals arrived at Chief Wardeener’s homestead and told Prince Nyathi that they were looking for nine stolen donkeys suspected to be in the area.

“Nyathi invited Mathias Ncube, the chairperson of Gwanda Anti Stock Theft Association. He informed him of the presence of Tswanas and the purpose of their visit,”  the police memo read.

“Ncube mobilised Obert Moyo and Celani Ncube among 21 villagers who then teamed up with the Tswanas to track and recover the donkeys and they went to John West village using Obert and Celani’s vehicles and arrived at 2am on April 1.

“They located Godwin and Justice at Prince Dube’s homestead (a well-known stock thief) and they recovered 11 donkeys penned at the homestead. Three of the recovered donkeys were identified to be of Alphios Mahlangu’s, while Motswana nationals identified two donkeys,” the memo said.

The gang allegedly handcuffed Godwin and Justice and led them to Mirriam’s homestead whom they suspected to be one of the thieves.

“On arrival, they damaged a window pane and broke the main door to gain entry into the house. They stole R3 000 and damaged property worth R500,” the police said.

The group was then allegedly led to Letwin’s home where they damaged window panes and forced open the door before they damaged the refrigerator, wardrobe, sofa and cupboards and stole R6 500. The damaged property was valued at R17 500.

Police said the accused later went to Partricia’s home where they damaged property worth R500.  At Darlington’s home, they damaged 30 window panes, two beds, four speakers and a kitchen unit all valued at R6 900.

“On their way back, John West villagers followed and attacked them. During the attack, John West villagers assaulted two Motswana nationals and accused one and four (Tiiso) and (Muzi) and recovered the donkeys, but the accused took with them Godwin and Justice to Mashaba area,” the memo added.

“The matter was reported at Nhwali Police Base and police picked Tiiso who had a wound on the back. He was taken to Nhwali Clinic for treatment and released… On April 3, Tuli police went to Guyu Police where they got a list of the accused persons involved in this case.”

The memo says Godwin was assaulted and injured by the gang and had to be taken to Gwanda Hospital for treatment, while Justice was allegedly assaulted with sjambocks, sticks, and he succumbed to the beatings. Police say his body was taken to Gwanda mortuary for postmortem.

The accused persons are still at large, hence the manhunt.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena referred Southern Eye to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who confirmed the matter.

Mwonzora’s Meeting To Replace Mafume Flops

By A Correspondent- A move to replace recalled Harare mayor Jacob Mafume by Douglas Mwonzora’s MDC Alliance failed yesterday after a scheduled full council meeting was aborted at the eleventh hour.

Some councillors boycotted the meeting amid claims that there was a push to elevate acting mayor Stewart Mutizwa to fill the vacant post ahead of this week’s swearing-in of the recently elected councillors.

The Citizens Coalition for Change has 28 councillors that are set to return to Town House after they won the March 26 by-elections.

Chamber secretary Warren Chiwawa told NewsDay that the meeting could not go ahead as only 12 councillors attended.

“According to the law, a meeting can go ahead when there are at least 17 councillors in attendance. However, only 12 turned up, forcing the meeting to adjourn,” he said.

Local Government minister July Moyo last week said Mafume’s seat was now vacant following his recall from the council by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Mafume and other recalled PDP councillors Simon Chabuka (Mutare) and Arnold Batirai Dube (Bulawayo) have approached the High Court challenging their dismissal.

They want their recalls to be declared null and void, saying their constitutional rights had been being violated.

They cited Moyo, the town clerks of Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission as respondents.

The matter is yet to be heard.- Newsday

Chiefs’ Stands Demands Divide Council

By A Correspondent- Five Hwange Chiefs have approached Hwange Local Board (HLB) appealing for exemption from paying for housing stands allocated to them.

Hwange District has five Chiefs: Whange, Shana, Dingane-Nelukoba, Nekatambe and Mvuthu.

The local authority has a resolution to allocate the five traditional leaders housing stand each in a residential area of their choice.

The matter has however divided the council.

According to the latest council minutes, the local authority finally resolved that the council will apply to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works on behalf of Chiefs on the issue of exemption.

The issue was raised as a recommendation from the Health and Housing Committee meeting held in February 2020 when the council last held physical meetings because of the Covid-19 induced lockdowns.

“That resolution B24/11be set aside and be substituted with “Chiefs in Hwange District be allocated a stand each at any residential density at no intrinsic value”. Discussing on the above recommendation, the house was divided on the matter,” read part of the minutes.

The house noted that granting of exemption is done by the Ministry of Local Government and therefore Chiefs should apply through the Ministry.

HLB Town Secretary Mr Ndumiso Mdlalose told the councilors that the Chiefs had initially verbally made the application and added that it was up to the councillors to decide on the issue. Mr Mdlalose said the council could seek guidance from the Ministry, adding that previously council was guided by Urban Councils Act and Urban Stateland Manual and nothing was wrong.

Councillors said there should be clarity if the exemption, if granted, would apply only to incumbent Chiefs of even to future traditional leaders.

They said local authorities have no mandate to allocate land free of charge and anyone who requires a stand must apply.

But, the HLB has allocated land free of charge to St Patrick’s Hospital, Don Bosco and Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.

The councillors resolved that council should follow procedure and advise the Chiefs to apply to the Ministry or for the council to apply on their behalf for the exemption.- Chronicle

Manhunt For Most Wanted Suspect Cornwell Kasambarare

By A Correspondent- Police have launched a manhunt for one of the country’s most wanted suspects Cornwell Junior Kasambarare, who is believed to be masterminding a spate of armed robbery and housebreaking cases in and around Harare.

Kasambarare, allegedly to have been part of Musa Taj Abdul’s criminal gang was released last year on bail and is believed to be part of the gang targeting households and business premises.

Alleged accomplice Spicer Takawira was recently arrested on charges of house breaking and theft.

Sources close to the investigations yesterday said police were still looking for Kasambarare, not just as a suspect, but also because he has an outstanding warrant of arrest for skipping bail and defaulting court.

Kasambarare, Takawira together with Leo Mandaza, Godwin Kusikwenyu (34) and another one only identified as Chamu, are accused of seven cases of house breaking and theft in Harare.

Takawira, Musafare Mupanhanga and Kasambarare are also alleged to be part of the gang that raided Mashwede Holdings in 2020 and got away with over US$100 000, R42 000, $14 000 worth of fuel coupons, firearms and 20 live rounds of ammunition.

With Mandaza and Takawira in custody, police still appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Kasambarare.

In March 2020, Mashwede Holdings lost the cash to five workers and nine suspected robbers. The five workers, Mupanhanga and Kasambarare, were then arrested and appeared in court.

Among the five workers were two brothers related to the business owner, while two were security guards. The two suspected robbers were remanded in custody and told only the High Court could grant bail.

Meanwhile, police said they are also hunting down the four robbers who were recently involved in the second Mashwede attack, raiding a Mashwede Holdings food court and two other premises in Southlea Park, Harare, and got away with a Mitsubishi double cab and more than US$5 000.

The vehicle, which was parked at the premises for safekeeping was later found dumped in Nyatsime area of Chitungwiza. Nearby was the safe containing the cash which had been robbed at Mashwede Holdings.

Police said the robbers, who were armed with a pistol and a rifle, attacked two security guards whose hands they tied with shoelaces.

The gang then went to Virtue Service Station where they used a hammer to break a metal screen to gain entry into the premises.

They then ransacked a butchery and took away US$290 which was in one of the drawers inside an office before proceeding to a mini market at the premises where they stole electrical appliances.

The gang went to Chicken Mash owned by Mashwede Holdings and forcibly broke the aluminium doors with a hammer before attempting to break a safe which was containing cash, but failed.

They loaded the safe onto the Mitsubishi truck which they later dumped.

This was not the first time that Mashwede Holdings was hit by armed robbers.

ZRP Recovers Stolen Vehicle

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the recovery of a vehicle that had been stolen on the 3rd of this month in Mbare.

Police say the victim parked his silver Corolla Crystallite vehicle AEP 9435 while going into a barbershop in Mbare and left the keys in the ignition. The incident happened at about 1540 hours.

The police in a statement said:

Police later recovered the vehicle at George Stark High School with some missing car accessories which include a car radio, speakers, battery and a Samsung cellphone.

ZRP Hwange recorded a case of theft of a white Toyota Hilux Revo vehicle (AFF 8145) at Sino Hydro, Hwange the 1st of April 2022. The vehicle was allegedly stolen by an unidentified suspect who impersonated a company employee.

In another case, on the 2nd of this month, at about 2300 hours, a 35-year-old motorist lost his Toyota Runx Vehicle ACN 6920 to an unknown suspect near Pamuzinda, Harare, after he parked the vehicle along the road to relieve himself while the engine was running.

Similarly, on the same day at about 2300 hrs, a Harare man (37) lost a white Nissan Tiida vehicle AFB 1746 after parking along the road for recess along Tynwald Drive. The unidentified passenger whom he had picked along Harare-Bulawayo Road jumped onto the steering and drove away.

PSMAS Adopts US$ Co-Payment System For Members

By A Correspondent- The Premier Services Medical Investment (PSMI) on Friday last week adopted a co-payment system where every member of PSMAS is required to pay US$5 or ZWL$1 050 before receiving treatment or services.

PSMI is the largest private health care services provider in the country and it operates hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and labs.

The company serves at least 90 per cent of Zimbabwe’s civil servants, who are members of the Premier Services Medical Aid Society (PSMAS).

Workers are unhappy with the adoption of the co-payment system by PSMI as they believe the move is aimed at increasing management perks.

Part of a letter addressed to the PSMAS board chair Jeremiah Bvirindi by the medical professional and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe on Monday, read:

This is very unfair to members, particularly Government employees who had always been paying their monthly contributions without anything in return.

Workers are of the view that the money being charged as co-payments is meant for nothing other than boosting management pockets.

But responding to emailed questions from The Herald, Premier Service Holding Company (PSHC) public relations, communications and brand manager Arthur Choga defended the recent introduction of a co-payment. He said:

Subscriptions on the medical aid side continue to track the official rate while costs are being incurred based on parallel market rates, making it difficult for PSMI to meet obligations as they fall due.

Given these pressures and the target market’s inability to afford market-related subscriptions, PSMI, therefore, introduced co-payments to assist in meeting operating expenses.

Premier Services Medical Investment (Pvt) Ltd is a division of Premier Services Holding Company.

Mbongeni Ncube’s Suspected Killers Freed

By A Correspondent- Five suspects linked to the violence that rocked a Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) Kwekwe rally leading to the death of one person have been released on bail.

Mbongeni Ncube died from the skirmishes that rocked the rally held in Mbizo suburb which was being addressed by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa after violence broke out during his address.

Initially, 16 people were arrested but the rest were released without charge after thorough investigations leading to the remaining five appearing in court facing murder and public violence charges.

The five Edmore Shoshera, Albert Maketo, Talent Imbayago, Panashe Mukavaza and Percy Mukwaturi were initially denied bail when they appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate Mrs Florence Nago.

However, Bulawayo High Court Judge, Justice Martin Makonese granted the five $10 000 bail each.

“After reading documents filed of record, it is ordered that the applicants be and are hereby admitted to bail pending trial under the conditions that the applicants deposit the sum of RTGS$10 000 each with the Clerk of Court Kwekwe Magistrates Court,” reads part of the judgement.

As part of their conditions, the applicants were ordered to continue residing at their given respective addresses and not to interfere with state witnesses until the matter is finalised.

They were also ordered to report once every fortnight on Fridays at ZRP Kwekwe Central Police Station pending the finalisation of the case.

It is alleged that on the day in question the five acting in connivance, stabbed Mbongeni Ncube with a sharp object leading to his death upon admission to Kwekwe General Hospital.

The gang also allegedly threw stones and attacked people who were attending the rally with spears, knives and sjamboks as well as catapults leaving many people injured.

The group also allegedly damaged motor vehicles and deflated tyres. Lawyer Charles Chigomere of Mutatu and Partners is representing the accused.-newsday

ED Appoints Tribunal To Probe Justice Mushore

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed a tribunal to probe High Court judge Justice Edith Mushore’s suitability for office after she allegedly went AWOL.

Mushore has reportedly not been reporting for duty since last year, resulting in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) recommending that a tribunal be set up to investigate the matter.

In Proclamation 3 of 2022 published yesterday, Mnangagwa appointed retired judge Justice Maphios Cheda chairperson of the tribunal, and Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs secretary Virginia Mabhiza its secretary.

The tribunal shall be held for a period of five months from the date of swearing in of members, at such appropriate venue as shall be determined by the tribunal,” read the proclamation.

The terms of reference of the tribunal include investigating her suitability to remain in office and reasons for her failure to report for work without authorisation.

The investigation is in line with section 187 of the Constitution, which among others, provides that a judge may be removed from office only for inability to perform the function of his or her office, due to mental or physical incapacity, gross incompetence, or gross misconduct.-newsday

Where Are The New ZUPCO Buses

By A Correspondent| The Harare Residents Trust has questioned the availability of new ZUPCO buses bought by government to improve transport in urban areas, saying passengers continue to be stranded at pick up points especially after 7PM.

Posting on Twitter, HRT called for the dismissal of ZUPCO management accusing them of failing to properly manage the transport system.

Below is HRT’s full statement;

The new ZUPCO buses are not visible on Harare roads. Where exactly were they deployed? After 7 pm, there would be no ZUPCO buses to pick up passengers, leaving most workers stranded in town. Why is ZUPCO operating like this? The buses go to park when passengers are still stranded in town. A new management is definitely needed to make ZUPCO operate along commercial lines to serve the people and make money for the company. Reports even suggest that sometimes ZUPCO crews do not ask for money on boarding and then ask for payment when someone is leaving the bus, but do not issue tickets. Such a public transport company should improve its system to serve the public and not benefit a few individuals.

ZUPCO runs without following any timetable for people to get used to. The company can possibly introduce shifts for their crews so that the buses are readily available to ferry people even up to midnight.

Mishika-Shika and kombis operate freely and with minimal police interference because either the ZUPCO management has their own mishika-shika, or the police officers own the mishika-shika which are risky but serving the desperate commuters.

Why is there like a deliberate ploy to make ZUPCO so unprofessional, unreliable and poorly run? Under the current circumstances where it is the only allowed public transporter, it should be making a huge profit, serving the people with professionalism so that even when competition comes, they would have made their mark.

Who is destroying ZUPCO? The new buses are nowhere to be found on the road. Transport shortages are still prevalent.

“ZEC Issued Zanu PF A Colour Pictured Voters’ Roll”

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has been accused of issuing a voters’ roll with colour pictures to Zanu-PF candidates while denying the same to the opposition in what critics say amounts to vote fraud.

This is the second time in weeks that the electoral management body has been taken to task over the voters roll after it denied ownership of a voters roll which was exposed by data experts as being littered with irregularities.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Binga North legislator Prince Dubeko-Sibanda yesterday claimed that Zanu-PF’s Victoria Falls local authority candidates in the March 26 by-elections, Musa Ncube and Kudakwashe Mavula Munsaka, were given copies of the voters roll with colour images of the voters.

“While Zec always denies the opposition access to the voters roll with pictures, it clandestinely released it to Zanu-PF in the just-ended by-elections. Zec should be disbanded,” Dubeko-Sibanda claimed.

He repeated the claims when contacted for comment yesterday.

But Zec spokesperson Jasper Mangwana yesterday denied that the electoral management body had issued a voters roll with colour images to Zanu-PF, and stopped short of saying it was leaked by its officials.

He said an internal investigation had been launched.

“We have asked the operational guys to look into the matter since we do not give political parties the voters roll with pictures. We want to understand what really transpired,” he said.

In February, Zec said a defective copy was leaked by its employees who were allegedly later suspended and later summarily dismissed from work.

Zanu-PF Matabeleland North chairperson Richard Moyo said he was not aware of the allegations.

“I am not aware of these claims,” he said.

The CCC complained ahead of the polls that Zec had blurred the party symbol and candidates’ images on some ballot papers used in the polls.

The voters roll was a contested document ahead of the polls, with the CCC saying the document was not credible after discrepancies were uncovered.

Zec, however, argued that there were attempts to discredit the electoral management body.

CCC interim deputy secretary for elections Ellen Shiriyedenga yesterday accused Zec of unfair practices.

“We have countless times requested Zec to provide us with a voters roll with images, but it has always denied (us the opportunity to have sight of it). It always cites security reasons and the need to protect private information,” Shiriyedenga told NewsDay.

“Recently, we have had issues of people with the same name and surname, but the only difference being the last two digits on the voters roll. This is one of the reasons a voters roll with images is important.”

Independent election watchdogs said claims that only Zanu-PF was given a voters roll with colour images of voters were disturbing, with Election Resource Centre programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu saying this amounted to vote-rigging

“If the allegations are true that one political party got the voters rolls with pictures and the other one did not, then it is an unfair practice. It creates a tilted playing field. When we look at the electoral principles and practices everywhere else, political parties must be given materials that are equal and uniform,” Bobosibunu said.

Zimbabwe Election Support Network chairperson Andrew Makoni added: “The playing field must be even and such discrimination does not go well with the conduct of democratic elections. Zec must treat all political parties participating in an election equally.

“It is important to have pictures in the voters roll so that election officials can see if the person appearing before them intending to vote is the same person. This reduces chances of cheating or people voting on behalf of others.

“The voters roll, which is being inspected by citizens and members of the public before voting, must be the same voters roll to be used on the day of voting. This will allow errors to be attended to.-newsday

400 Zimbos Jailed In Botswana

By A Correspondent- Botswana and Zimbabwe are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will see prisoner exchanges between the countries.

Zimbabweans serving jail time in Botswana will be able to complete their sentences back in their home country, in exchange for Batswana nationals who will be deported back to Botswana to complete their sentences there. .

According to Zimbabwe prisons and correctional services commissioner, Gen Moses Chihobvu, there were an estimated 400 Zimbabweans in Botswana jails.

“I think we have less than 10 Batswana who are in prison in Zimbabwe,” said Chihobvu

Dinah Marathe, commissioner of the Botswana prison service, visited Zimbabwe with a delegation to meet its correctional services authorities.

Addressing journalists during the tour on Saturday, Marathe said signing of the MOU will allow the two countries to work together on various issues.

“We are going to complete the signing of the MOU by June. It allows our two republics to work together. It will also allow our own citizens who are incarcerated in Zimbabwe prisons to serve their sentences back home and Zimbabweans who are serving in Botswana to finish their sentences here in Zimbabwe, so that they are closer to their relatives who can help them when they reintegrate into society.”

In 2020, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi pardoned 15 Zimbabwean prisoners amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Zimbabwe’s prisons are severely overcrowded. Last year, the country declared an amnesty for prisoners who had served at least a third of their sentences as a way to ease overcrowding.

ED “Ignores” Mohadi Replacement

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe has been without a second Vice-President for over a year following the resignation of Kembo Mohadi in March last year.

Presidential spokesperson George Charamba on Tuesday told NewsDay that he could not comment on when President Emmerson Mnangagwa would appoint a second VP.

Mohadi resigned on 1 March 2021 in the wake of damning immoral allegations which dogged him until the end of February 2021.

Constitutional lawyer Lovemore Madhuku said there was no law that compels the President to appoint a second VP. Said Madhuku:

The President has not breached any part of the Constitution by not appointing a second VP.

The 1987 Unity Accord is irrelevant in the appointment of the VPs because it is a private contract between Zanu PF and PF Zapu. That cannot be enforced using the laws of Zimbabwe.

The post of the second VP was created following the 1987 Unity Accord between ZANU PF and PF ZAPU and was reserved for former ZAPU members.

However, political analyst Methuseli Moyo said former ZAPU members are anxiously waiting for Mnangagwa’s choice. Said Moyo:

The way Mohadi was induced to resign was very suspicious, and the amount of time it has taken to replace him or reappoint him makes the issue more suspicious.

No doubt Mohadi is bitter, and his fellow ex-ZAPU colleagues are anxious about what befell him, and who will succeed him.

The way ED came into power makes him indebted to a lot of people who made it happen.

He wants those harbouring ambitions to come out. It plays to his advantage to keep everybody anxious and hoping.

This is not the first time that Zimbabwe has had a single VP. Joice Mujuru once served alone from 2009 to 2014 following the death of Joseph Msika.

“Sakupwanya Becoming Big Headed”: Madiro

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairperson Mike Madiro is reportedly pushing for the removal of provincial youth chairperson Stanley Sakupwanya claiming that he was becoming “big headed”.

Madiro and Sakupwanya formed a formidable campaign team that saw them both win provincial elections last year.

Sources in Manicaland told NewsDay yesterday that the relationship between Madiro and Sakupwanya had collapsed, with the provincial chairperson pushing for a vote of no-confidence against his former ally.

“Madiro is inciting other youths in the province to pass the vote of no confidence. We are very sure a vote of no-confidence is coming against him,” a source said,

Madiro always wanted to have control of the province and felt overshadowed after Sakupwanya recently met President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Kwekwe, where youths were given cows. Sakupwanya also met President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House with other youth chairpersons from other provinces, where they had photo shoots.”

Sakupwanya and Madiro yesterday denied that there was bad blood between them.

“This is a mischievous allegation,” Madiro said.

Sakupwanya said: “I am not big headed, I work well with my boss (Madiro). I was even with him on Sunday. This is just a conspiracy.”

Drama In Parliament As CCC Legislators Take Oath Of Office

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs-elect received a baptism of fire on their first day in Parliament yesterday after they turned up in yellow attire for the swearing-in ceremony.

Zanu PF MPs protested, accusing the opposition of coming to the august House dressed in party regalia.

Yellow is the CCC party’s official colour.

But Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda quashed the objections, saying there was nothing amiss since the CCC members’ attire had no party symbol.

“If there is no visible party symbol, it can be allowed in the House,” Mudenda ruled, before Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda proceeded to swear-in the 28 legislators who were elected in the March 26 by-elections.

The CCC MPs who were sworn-in included Tendai Biti (Harare East), Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo), Prince Dubeko Sibanda (Binga North), Amos Chibaya (Mkoba), Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Chalton Hwende (Kuwadzana East), among others.

Zanu PF also had nine MPs sworn-in, who included Zalerah Makari (Epworth), Misheck Mugadza (Mutasa South),  Jeremiah Chiwetu (Marondera East), Nyasha Masoka (Murewa South), Munyaradzi Zizhou (Chivi South), Master Makope (Mwenezi East), Ncube Musa (Tsholotsho South), Davison Masvisvi (Gokwe Central) and Tasara Hungwe (Mberengwa South).

Some of the seats became vacant following recalls initiated by MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora, while others were a result of deaths and posting of MPs as ambassadors.

The newly formed CCC party bagged 19 seats while Zanu PF got nine.

Mberengwa South legislator Tasara Hungwe (Zanu PF) said: “I promise to go back to my constituency and ensure there is communication with regards to things happening in Parliament.”

Kwekwe Central MP Judith Tobaiwa (CCC) said she would fight to end machete violence in the Midlands city.

Her constituency is where CCC supporter Mbongeni Ncube was killed at a campaign rally in February.

“We are also going to address issues of child abuse and child marriages.  Young girls are being married off due to poverty and we need to end that,” Tobaiwa said.

Mugadza (Zanu PF) said:  “People will not regret their choice.  I will take the constituency to another level in terms of development.”

Nkulumane MP Kucaca Phulu (CCC) said people from his constituency would benefit from his representative role as an MP, by getting feedback on what is happening in Parliament.

Polling Station Dismantled In Mutasa South

By A Correspondent- A polling station was allegedly dismantled on the eve of the by-election in Mutasa South National Constituency election, leading to the disenfranchisement of hundreds of voters which may have held sway in the result, it has emerged.

The development has triggered fears the polling station ruined Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate, Regai Tsunga’s chance of winning the election.

Tsunga was narrowly beaten by Zanu-PF candidate Misheck Mugadza after garnering 5 269 votes against his nemesis’ 5 818.

Mugadza holds a senior position in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

Well-placed official sources who presided over the elections said the removal of a polling station deprived a number of people from voting within an urban ward, which was one of Tsunga’s strongholds.

“A polling station in Florida middle density suburb was removed from the system in the last minute. The officials responsible for that polling station were given a directive to remove it from the system under unclear circumstances,” an official source said.

“They later realised that it was a trick aimed at influencing election outcome only after results started trickling in. That polling station had a remarkable number of voters from the leafy suburbs of Mutare, and Mugadza had lessor chances of winning there. This is real. The move influenced the outcome, a team of government officials who presided over the elections even testified,” the source added.

ZEC Manicaland elections officer, Thompson Chivereveshe, declined to comment on the matter saying: “We are no longer talking about elections. Anyone with allegations can go to the electoral court. I do not know anything regarding this issue. The elections are over, hence I do not know what you are talking about.”

Tsunga confirmed that a polling station in Florida was dismantled.

He said another one in Chikanga phase one (ward 14), was moved to a different.

.”Yes it’s true. The explanation can only come from ZEC why they did that. It resulted in many people not getting the chance to vote. I talked to the district elections officer regarding the Florida polling station and he simply said it was because they had to merge the two polling stations into one,” Tsunga said.

“Whether that was done in good faith or there was a sinister motive, as we suspect, it is a question for ZEC to answer. We hope that in the future, if any changes have to be made regarding configuration of polling stations, it will be communicated to all political parties and interested stakeholders in advance,” he said.

“Once they continue to do things in a clandestine manner, they give us every reason to be suspicious. We always clamour for electoral reforms so that the outcome is not thereof ever disputed. If everything is done in a transparent manner, with no issues arising, the winner and the loser will feel content after elections are conducted.”

Mutasa South constituency consists of some parts of Mutare urban, including Penhalonga peri-urban.

According to statistics availed by the Election Resource Centre (ERC), the voter turnout in Mutasa South during by-elections was 34,47% compared to 85% during the 2018 polls.

Biti: Govt Blew USD80mil on Bi Elections

Nhamburo was a former Zanu PF national youth executive member.

Last month, Nhamburo was accused of deliberately running over and killing a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member.

“No Yellow In Parliament”: Speaker

By A Correspondent- National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda on Tuesday ordered Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs not to wear yellow in Parliament.

The order came after Buhera South MP Joseph Chinotimba (ZANU PF) protested that some CCC MPs were wearing party symbols.

The CCC MPs dressed formally, but some were wearing yellow neck-ties, shirts, tops and blazers. Said Mudenda:

From tomorrow, can Honourable Members adhere to the dress code and not be seen in colours that are aligned to party affiliation. Please be advised accordingly.

According to ZimLive, Harare East MP Tendai Biti, wore a striped yellow and navy-blue tie while Prince Dubeko Sibanda (Binga North), Amos Chibaya (Mkoba), Prosper Mutseyami (Chikanga-Dangamvura), Chalton Hwende (Kuwadzana East) and Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo) all wore yellow ties.

Judith Tobaiwa (Kwekwe Central) and Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula) wore yellow blazers.

Mudenda’s directive riled CCC MPs, who vowed to wear colours of their choice as long as it was not party regalia.

Speaking outside parliament, Biti, who is also CCC deputy president, said:I can understand if the Speaker rules against putting on yellow T-Shirts but if I put on a yellow shirt, a formal business shirt or a yellow tie, I’m not breaching any law.

I hope he doesn’t put us in a position where there’s an unnecessary collision, and that there is litigation and civil war in that House.

A necktie or shirt is not party regalia. If we come wearing Zambias, it’s a different thing but I don’t think anyone has an intention to do that.

There’s no law in the world anywhere that proscribes anyone from putting on a necktie of his or her own choice.

Mutseyami said what Mudenda suggested is impractical since green, yellow, black and red are among the colours that are used by different political parties.

He said:

Is what the Speaker is saying lawful, or he’s just telling us what’s in his head? This is not Mudenda’s House, it’s a national House.

We were not voted for by Mudenda but by the people. We’re not here out of his compassion.

In any case, no one is quite sure which colour he says belongs to a political party.

In this country, there are political parties that use green, yellow, black and red.

I don’t know which of those colours is a party colour, and which one is not.

Zanu PF Vows To Hold On Power Even If Chamisa Wins 2023 Elections

By-The ruling Zanu PF party has vowed that it will never surrender power to opposition parties, saying it will “rule for a very long time”.

This was disclosed yesterday by Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu in Harare while officiating at a send-off ceremony of 36 party members set for a training stint at the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre in Tanzania.

The centre, which was built by the Chinese Communist Party on a US$40 million budget, specialises in policy and leadership studies.
Mpofu described Zanu PF as one of the most formidable political parties in southern Africa.

“We are going to be in power for a very long time. We are not going to surrender power. We will always be the governing party,” Mpofu said.
Mpofu revealed that in January 2019 during fuel protests, panicky President Emmerson Mnangagwa had to hastily dispatch the late Agriculture minister Perrance Shiri to Tanzania to lobby for support to quash the protests as he felt that his grip on power was under threat.
“President Mnangagwa had to dispatch the late Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri to lobby for support in Tanzania after the stay-away. The late Tanzanian President John Magufuli promised unwavering support and said all regime change machinations would be thwarted,” Mpofu said.
During the three-day protests, security forces used lethal force to crush nationwide demonstrations after government had announced a fuel price increase of 150%. Security forces fired live ammunition on unarmed civilians, killing 17 people.
Mpofu flaunted his liberation war credentials, claiming that he was trained in Tanzania during the liberation struggle.
“Tanzania was one of the first countries to train liberation fighters. I trained in Tanzania in 1968 where I was with the likes of Ambrose Mutinhiri who was an instructor then.”
Mpofu said the 36 trainees were drawn from the ruling party, the public service and other institutions.
The Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre prides itself in contextualising problems and their solutions. It draws from a wide variety of approaches, that include, innovative policy leading research, quality dialogues, youth training and mentoring, providing an important platform for distinguished African intellectuals and scholars.

Parliament Swears In Chamisa MPs

Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change won 19 seats, beating Zanu Pf which got nine.

Chiefs Demand Free Stands

Five Hwange Chiefs have approached Hwange Local Board (HLB) appealing for exemption from paying for housing stands allocated to them.

Mwonzora Meeting To Replace Mafume Flops

Douglas Mwonzora

A move to replace recalled Harare mayor Jacob Mafume by Douglas Mwonzora’s MDC Alliance failed yesterday after a scheduled full council meeting was aborted at the eleventh hour.
