Kadewere Resumes Training

Tinotenda Kadewere has started individual training as the striker continues his recovery from a muscle injury sustained in early September.

The Zimbabwe international torn the quadriceps of his right leg on the eve of his supposed La Liga debut against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, having completed his season-long loan transfer from Lyon to Mallorca on 29 August.

He avoided surgery after the doctors decided to use a conservative treatment and, not through the operating room.

Almost after a month the treatment started, Kadewere is now kicking the ball again.

The previous report set Kadewere’s scheduled return in January 2023.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Rodwell Dhlakama Finds New Club In SA

South African National First Division side, Black Leopards, has appointed Rodwell Dhlakama as its new coach.

The Zimbabwean gaffer has replaced Joel Masutha, who was suspended from his post last week following a string of poor results.

Masutha was instructed to down tools alongside his assistant Morgan Shivambu and goalkeeper coach Sam Banda.

Dhlakama signed a three year contract with Leopards after dumping ZPC Kariba where he had a month left to his contract.

“For me, this is a step forward given the profile of the league. Taking a team which is at the bottom of the log and trying to improve its status is a big challenge. So that’s where I will be recognized on whether I am a good coach or not.

“I want to make sure that the team makes a huge statement in the league. Where they are sitting now they are not at the right place so I am trying to make sure that I remove this team and take them to their rightful position,” the Zimbabwean gaffer was quoted as saying on FarPost.co.za.

Dhlakama’s immediate task is to take the Leopards out of the relegation zone but will have to wait until he gets his work permit.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Depression, Anxiety

New global WHO guidelines on mental health at work are reinforced by practical strategies outlined in a joint WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have called for concrete actions to address mental health concerns in the working population.

An estimated 12 billion workdays are lost annually due to depression and anxiety costing the global economy nearly US$ 1 trillion. Two new publications which aim to address this issue are published today – WHO Guidelines on mental health at work and a derivative WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO’s global guidelines on mental health at work recommend actions to tackle risks to mental health such as heavy workloads, negative behaviours, and other factors that create distress at work. For the first time WHO recommends manager training, to build their capacity to prevent stressful work environments and respond to workers in distress.

WHO’s World Mental Health Report, published in June 2022, showed that of one billion people living with a mental disorder in 2019, 15% of working-age adults experienced a mental disorder. Work amplifies wider societal issues that negatively affect mental health, including discrimination and inequality. Bullying and psychological violence (also known as “mobbing”) is a key complaint of workplace harassment that has a negative impact on mental health. Yet discussing or disclosing mental health remains a taboo in work settings globally.

The guidelines also recommend better ways to accommodate the needs of workers with mental health conditions, propose interventions that support their return to work and, for those with severe mental health conditions, provide interventions that facilitate entry into paid employment. Importantly, the guidelines call for interventions aimed at the protection of health, humanitarian, and emergency workers.

“It’s time to focus on the detrimental effect work can have on our mental health,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “The well-being of the individual is reason enough to act, but poor mental health can also have a debilitating impact on a person’s performance and productivity. These new guidelines can help prevent negative work situations and cultures and offer much-needed mental health protection and support for working people.”

A separate WHO/ILO policy brief explains the WHO guidelines in terms of practical strategies for governments, employers and workers, and their organizations, in the public and private sectors. The aim is to support the prevention of mental health risks, protect and promote mental health at work, and support those with mental health conditions, so they can participate and thrive in the world of work. Investment and leadership will be critical to the implementation of the strategies.

“As people spend a large proportion of their lives in work – a safe and healthy working environment is critical. We need to invest to build a culture of prevention around mental health at work, reshape the work environment to stop stigma and social exclusion, and ensure employees with mental health conditions feel protected and supported,” said, Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General.

The ILO Occupational Safety and Health Convention (No. 155) and Recommendation (No. 164) provides legal frameworks to protect the health and safety of workers. However, the WHO Mental Health Atlas found that only 35% of countries reported having national programmes for work-related mental health promotion and prevention.

COVID-19 triggered a 25% increase in general anxiety and depression worldwide, exposing how unprepared governments were for its impact on mental health, and revealing a chronic global shortage of mental health resources. In 2020, governments worldwide spent an average of just 2% of health budgets on mental health, with lower-middle income countries investing less than 1%.

Biti Slams Zanu PF Regime For Robbing Miners

Tinashe Sambiri| CCC vice president Hon Tendai Biti has slammed the Zanu PF regime for attempting to rob miners.

The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa says a new policy that compels miners to pay half of their royalties in commodities and half in cash will be effected from this month as the country attempts to build precious metal and mineral stockpiles for the first time.

However, Biti has described the regime as clueless and desperate.

“The regime’s directives that half of mining royalties must be paid as processed ore with effect from October is one of those ill thought zany ideas that reflect vacuousness & cluelessness

For starters no changes in royalties regime can be made without changes in the law & parliament s involvement & approval. Secondly whilst a case can be made for building gold reserves , it is absolute insanity to keep reserves of chrome ,lithium or platinum . Why and what for ?

Minerals are not liquid & have fluid values determined by international commodity markets . Determining value for royalty purposes will always be a challenge . Particularly for platinum which has at least 6 derivative metals including rhodium. nickel , gold & silver,” Hon Biti argued.

Leave President Chamisa Alone, CCC Tells Tsenengamu

By A Correspondent| A CCC youth leader, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, says former Zanu PF stalwart, Godfrey Tsenengamu, has gone off the mark.

Tsenengamu claims CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa is too weak to win State power.

According to Chuma, Tsenengamu’s claims are baseless and misguided.

“These are images of @nelsonchamisa when the likes of Godfrey Tsenengamu were still busy in ZANU PF persecuting opposition members. He has been a symbol of resistance to ZANU PF dictatorship all his adult life.

How is this a cowardly act? Nyarai vanhu vakomana,” argued Sarkozy.

Take ZUPCO Away From ‘Thief’ July Moyo, Says Biti

By A Correspondent| Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator for Harare East Tendai Biti yesterday ripped into Local government minister July Moyo saying the running of ZUPCO should be taken away from him to Transport Minister Felix Mhona.

Biti questioned why government was still keeping the ZUPCO monopoly when it had failed to provide public transport to citizens.

He also demanded to know why ZUPCO was being run by the Ministry of Local government and not Transport and Infrastructure Development which he said had the skills and Acts of Parliament to administer public transport.

Biti ended by asking government to take ZUPCO away from Local Government minister July Moyo and hand it back to Felix Mhona who is responsible for the ministry of transport.

“Why are you still keeping the monopoly of public transport ZUPCO when ZUPCO has failed and perhaps the Leader of the House can help? Why should ZUPCO be allocated to the Minister of Local Government and not to the Minister of Transport who has the skills and the Acts of Parliament that are necessary to administer public transport and to harmonise public transport so that the people of Zimbabwe are well served? I thank you very much Madam Speaker Maam. Ipai Mhona mhani basa. July Moyo imbavha iyi,” said Biti.

Zanu PF Chief Whip Pupurai Togarepi rose on a point of order and demanded that Biti withdraws his statement on the basis that it was unparliamentary to which the CCC Deputy President obliged.

“I withdraw. July Moyo is not a thief,” said Biti.

Ziyambi Ziyambi Taken To Task Over ‘Teachers For ED’

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Prince Dubeko Sibanda yesterday took Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi to task over an association by the name Teachers for ED which he accused of coercing teachers and headmasters to its meetings saying government should protect the profession from political groupings.

In his question to Ziyambi who is the Leader of Government business in parliament Minister, Sibanda demanded to know the government policy in protecting teachers from politically aligned associations.

“Hon. Speaker, there is an association for teachers that goes by the name of ‘Teachers for ED’ which is coercing District Schools Inspectors and school headmasters to attend its meetings and functions. What is the Government policy in protecting teachers from this coercion, and intimidation by a political association of teachers? I thank you,” said Sibanda.

In response, Ziyambi said the law does not allow anyone to join a political party except of their own choice.

“Thank you Madam Speaker Ma’am. Hon. Sibanda says that there are teachers who are being forced to join a political party that is not of their choice. Our law does not allow anyone to join a political party except of their own free volition. I thank you,” responded Ziyambi Ziyambi.

Sibanda further questioned if members of the Teachers for ED will be allowed to be polling officers when they are clearly politically aligned.

“Madam Speaker, my supplementary question to the Hon. Leader of Government Business is, looking at the fact that this association is politically aligned; will those members of that
association be allowed to be polling officers in the next general election, looking at the fact that they are politically aligned? I thank you,” further questioned Sibanda.

EU Pledges To Fund Zim 2023 General Elections

THE European Union (EU) has pledged to fund Zimbabwe’s 2023 general elections to ensure they are peaceful.

Speaking after presenting his credentials to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House yesterday, new EU ambassador Jobst Von Kirchmann told journalists that he was in Zimbabwe to work towards development, which could only happen in an environment where there is stability.

“These points — as you all know depend on stability, and I think we stand ready to accompany the country in peaceful elections. So today we talked about electoral observation missions and also about financial support for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) and also generally of the process,” Von Kirchmann said.

He said EU would act as a listening partner and assist Zimbabwe whenever it needed a helping hand.

“Here we are ready to listen to what Zimbabwe wants, and at the same time, I hope Zimbabwe will regularly talk to us so that we really understand what is needed,” he said.

Zimbabwe has had an uneasy relationship with the EU and other Western countries, who have accused Harare of holding violent polls and violating human rights, among many other vices.

In turn Zimbabwe accused EU of imposing illegal sanctions on the southern African nation, as well as pushing for regime change through civil society activism.

“My mission here is clearly targeting constructive engagement with Zimbabwe and I said this today when President Mnangagwa said the EU does not have sanctions anymore, I guess that’s exactly what makes it possible today to engage on trade aspects. We are the fourth biggest trading partner in the country and I think we have a very good economic partnership agreement,” Von Kirchmann said.

Mnangagwa also received credentials from the Kuwait ambassador Salem Shibeeb Hamad Alkaledi, Switzerland’s Stephanie Rey and Salwa Mowafi from Egypt.

The ambassadors pledged to deepen economic ties with Zimbabwe.

Chiwenga Is Still In Office, Speaker Answers Hwende

By A Correspondent| Kuwadzana East legislator Charlton Hwende has demanded answers on the continued abscondment of parliamentary question and answer sessions by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga questioning if he was still in office.

Speaking in parliament yesterday, Hwende said 2022 was almost coming to an end yet Chiwenga who doubles as the Minister of Health and Child Care had not attended sessions in the national assembly to interact with legislators.

“Thank you Madam Speaker, I need clarity regarding the Hon. Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care, Hon. C. G. D. N. Chiwenga. Since I was elected as a Member of Parliament in March, I have never seen him in this House. We have a lot of issues that we want to ask him concerning the health of the nation. Since March, now we are in October, our term of office is going to expire before we even meet him. My question is: is he still the Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care or he is now out of office?,” questioned Hwende.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Tsitsi Gezi responded saying Chiwenga was still in office.

“Thank you Hon. Member. I would like to inform you that the Hon. Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care is still in office,” she responded.

Legislators have always complained against ministers who abscond question and answer sessions and at some point they demanded action from the President to ensure they attend sessions as well as issuing ministerial statements.

Police Kill ABC Auctions Robbery Suspect

HARARE – A man suspected of taking part in Zimbabwe’s second biggest heist ever has died after being shot by police in Epworth, 17km south of Harare.

Trymore Bondamakara had been linked to the October 8 robbery of ABC Auctions in Harare during which US$1.4 million in cash was stolen.

He was cornered by detectives at around 10AM on Wednesday, resulting in the shooting.

He died from his injuries at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare a few hours later, according to hospital sources.

Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi asked for more time to gather details of the incident.

Investigators believe Bondamakara took part in the robbery which police previously said was carried out by four suspects who overpowered two security guards before tying their hands and legs with shoelaces.

The robbers, who were armed, blew up five safes and stole cash amounting to about US$1.4 million.

The incident took place at around 1.30AM on October 8.

The investigation continues.

Advocate Thabani Mpofu Has Refuted Allegations He Was Bribed To Conceal Racism Case

Top lawyer Thabani Mpofu has once again written to the Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) refuting allegations raised by Joseph Crnkovic, a former finance officer for Chegutu-based mining company Dallagio Investments, who says he received a bribe to conceal racism allegations levelled against the company and its chief executive officer Michael Fowler leading to his dismissal.

Mpofu however insisted he only got paid for presiding over the inquiry that heard the racism allegations.

Mpofu has been involved in a wrangle with Crnkovic who was co-accused with Fowler in a racism scandal involving Dallagio workers.

In February 2020, the duo was reported to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) by Norton Independent legislator Temba Mliswa, who had received racism and emotional abuse reports from the company’s employees, leading to the institution of a fact-finding independent inquiry headed by Mpofu.

Crnkovic has been alleging that Mpofu received a US$5 000 bribe from Dallagio Investments to exonerate Fowler, and that he has solely targeted him in the tribunal that led to his dismissal.

“For what did you receive the payment of US$5 000 . . . that was agreed personally between yourself and Mr Hossack with the payment administered by myself. On appearance it would seem this payment was a financial inducement to yourself to ignore the allegation against the primary accused to protect him and allow blame to be shifted only to me,” Crnkovic said in an email to Mpofu, that was copied to the UK Legal Council, Zimbabwe Legal Council and Croatian Consul.

Mpofu responded, saying that he was facing extortionate means by Crnkovic, as reported by The NewsHawks last week.

This refers to any conduct that involves the use, or an express or implicit threat of use, of violence or other criminal means to cause harm to the person or property of the debtor or any member of his family.

In his latest letter dated 4 October 2022 to the LSZ, Mpofu also said the allegations being raised against him were not clear.

“Regrettably, the allegations made against me are not easy to understand. They however, seem to be the following: That I was bribed by Dallagio in order to turn a blind eye to the allegations made against its Mike Fowler and to concentrate instead on the allegations made against Crnkovic, a junior employee.

“That as a result of my discharge of function, and having exercised such function with partiality, Crknovic lost his employment with Dallagio. That I am now representing some human rights violators who have been violating Crnkovic’s rights, and that I have improperly refused to meet Crnkovic.

“I deny these allegations which are in my view nonsensical and I respond to them in the manner set out below,” said Mpofu in his latest letter seen by The NewsHawks.

Mpofu said he was instead paid – not bribed, by Dallagio for the services he rendered in heading the inquiry that looked into the human rights abuse allegations levelled against Crnkovic and Fowler.

“I was obviously paid … for the inquiry I conducted. I had to be paid by Dallagio because it was its inquiry and work that I had to undertake. I could not have been expected to conduct an inquiry for free. In fact, whenever I have conducted inquiries or disciplinary hearings, I have been paid by the employer party. That is how it works.

“I also wish to point out to the absurdity of the allegation that I, a private individual, acting in my own capacity as a professional, could be bribed by another private party. That simply does not make legal sense,” the letter read.

Mpofu also said he has not been responsible for the dismissal of Crnkovic who was sacked after the inquiry since he exonerated him during the hearings, which he said can be confirmed by Dallagio.

He attached his report following the inquiry.

“It is apparent that: I acquitted the complainant on the allegations he was facing. I stand by his acquittal,” Mpofu wrote.

“Regarding the high staff turnover, I found that at least one person had been unfairly dismissed. The person who had dismissed that individual placed evidence before me admitting to having dismissed the individual concerned and I saddled him with the consequences of his confession.

“Whilst I made various recommendations on the human resources position in the company, my findings speak for themselves and it is false that I caused the loss of the complainant’s employment. I ‘acquitted’ the complainant.

“It is, therefore, not correct that the complainant lost his employment by reason of any partial discharge of function on my part. In fact, if he does not agree with my findings, he must challenge them. The clear position, however, is that he has nothing to challenge.

“I have since ascertained from Dallagio that it parted ways with the complainant for reasons that had nothing to do with the inquiry. I challenge him to prove his contrary assertion.”

During his tenure as financial officer, Crnkovic said he received an email from Zweli Lunga,a partner in Promethious Law/Lunga – Dallagio’s legal representative –requesting him to pay US$5 000 to the law firm for onward transmission to Mpofu, which he alleges was a bribe for exonerating the primary accused suspect, Fowler.

Mpofu also accused Crnkovic of interfering with his attorney work.

Crnkovic alleged that the primary accuser in the racism case, Mliswa, was his client, in an email to Mpofu – which the latter denies.

“The allegation that Temba Mliswa is my client is nonsensical,” Mpofu said. “I have obviously represented Hon Mliswa just as I have represented thousands of other Zimbabweans. That however, does not make him ‘my client’. I am counsel.

“Besides, the allegations against the complainant were made by Hon Mliswa. How then does my knowledge of Hon Mliswa come into my acquittal of the complainant?”

Mpofu said the allegations against him have nothing to do with the inquiry he headed in 2020, but with the dispute in respect of which the Crnkovic is trying to compromise him.

In 2021, conflict ensued between Crnkovic and other shareholders who were trying to buy him by offering him shares in an extension of Glen Forest cemetery.

Crnkovic refused, rather opting that the land be reserved for residential accommodation and agriculture.

Mpofu went on to represent Candrina Investments, a company that owns Glen Forest Cemetery, to the disdain of Crnkovic who expressed displeasure in an email.

“Why are you representing Mr. (Fungai) Mparadzi and his associates when they have a history of human and constitutional rights violations against me?

At present I am defending at constitutional a criminal charge pressed against me by Mr. Mparadzi in his personal capacity, whilst you represent him and his close associates as advocate, against the 100 UK shareholders I represent,” he wrote.

PYCD Commemorates International Day Of The Girl Child In Style

By A Correspondent| Chipinge based Platform for Youth and Community Development (PYCD) yesterday commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child at Checheche Growth Point amid concerns over increasing rate of drug abuse among girls in schools.

The day which started with a march by girls from local schools and other members of the community at Checheche Growth Point was also punctuated with solidarity messages from various stakeholders who emphasized on the equality of both men and women in society.

In a statement, PYCD said drug abuse had become rampant among girls especially of school going age with five in every 10 girls reportedly abusing mind altering substances.

Girls from local schools in Chipinge marching to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child

“A research conducted by Platform for Youth and Community Development (PYCD), revealed that rampant drug abuse by learners in the district is so worrisome and the rate at it which female learners are abusing the drugs.

“Shockingly, 5 in every 10 or 1 in every 2 of learners between 13 and 19 years (teenagers from form 1 to form 6) are abusing drugs. This is 50 percent uptake,” the organisation said.

In his speech to mark the 2022 International Day of the Girl Child, United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres said communities need to work together to ensure girls enjoy and exercise their rights in society.

“Now more than ever, we must renew our commitment to work together so that girls enjoy and exercise their rights and can play a full and equal part in their communities and societies. Investing in girls is investing in our common future,” said Guterres.

On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.

Mnangagwa Hikes Party Membership Fee

By-Zanu PF has hiked membership fees by 300%.

The ruling party increased the membership fee from US$1 to US$3, much to the annoyance of some party members.

The membership cards are renewed annually.

Zanu PF national political commissar Mike Bimha, Tuesday confirmed the new fees. He told NewsDay:

I have never heard any complaint about our membership cards; they are actually in high demand. Those raising the complaints are malicious people. I am even receiving phone calls from people who are demanding our cards. What we are charging is just the cost of the material we are using to produce the cards. They cannot just come from nowhere.

Why would anyone refuse such a simple offer to pay just US$3 for the entire year? We can’t fundraise with that money — those are malicious allegations.

A senior Zanu PF party member said following complaints from some party members, they approached the commissariat department to seek a downward review of the membership fee, according to NewsDay.

The unnamed official said party members believe that the card is too expensive, particularly for those who need to travel to acquire the card.

Meanwhile, Bimha told NewsDay that preparations for the Zanu PF elective congress set for this October were at an advanced stage.

Change Unstoppable

Tinashe Sambiri|South African politician Mmusi Maimane says the wind of change is blowing across Southern Africa.

Writing on Twitter, Maimane predicted the downfall of the Zanu PF regime.

The firebrand politician believes the young generation is taking over power in Southern Africa.

“There is a wind of democratic change in Southern Africa.

First it was Malawi, then it was Zambia, now a brand new party in Lesotho has shaken the country. Next year it will be Zimbabwe gaining its second independence.

Then in 2024 we the people of SA will remove the ANC,” Maimane declared in a statement on Twitter.

Susan Mutami Boyfriend Told Judiciary Captured By Politicians

One of the self styled whistleblower Susan Mutami’s boyfriends, Walter Chikwana has received a report from a group of magistrates alleging State capture of the Judiciary.

The jurists also accused senior officials in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of corruption and interference with court processes.

In the open letter dated October 4, 2022 addressed to JSC and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc), the magistrates expressed frustration at the manipulation of judicial processes involving political cases.

“Sadly the issue of capture is no longer a perception but a reality. And the saddest part of this capture is that it is not spearheaded by the politicians. The kingpins (names withheld) of judicial capture are in the JSC itself . . .,” partly read the letter.

“It is an open secret at the magistrate’s court that there is a coterie of magistrates who exclusively deal with certain types of cases, particularly those deemed to be politically motivated.

“This is why political parties including members of the opposition are placed before the so-called Anti-Corruption Courts (ACC) to ensure that the (desired) result . . . is given by the captured ACC magistrates.

“Lawyers can argue themselves hoarse before these magistrates and their clients will never get justice as everything is done in terms of instructions from the JSC.”

JSC secretary Walter Chikwana professed ignorance about the letter when contacted for comment.

“There is no letter that has been sent to JSC. We do not respond to anonymous questions, which are written by nameless people. The letter has to be specific as to who wrote it for us to answer,” Chikwana said yesterday indicating, however, that he was aware of its existence.

Zacc spokesperson John Makamure also he had no knowledge of the letter.

Last month, Zacc dragged court officials, including JSC to court after bail conditions of Cottco official Maxmore Njanji, who faces a fraud charge involving US$5,8 million, were changed under unclear circumstances. In their letter, the unnamed magistrates claimed that they have been made mere by-standers through questionable decisions made by senior officials in the JSC.

“This is why cases which ought to be disposed of at the close of the State case routinely find themselves on appeal as magistrates in the ACC court have strict instructions not to accede to any application for discharge, however, meritorious such applications might be,” they said.

“The unintended consequence of this is that judges are now reduced to magistrates as their workload has been unnecessarily increased by these unjustified decisions. The majority of bail appeals going to the High Court ought not to be there if magistrates were not acting on instruction from the JSC.”

In 2020, High Court and Supreme Court judges wrote a letter to President Emmerson Mnangagwa protesting Judiciary capture by politicians.

In a letter of complaint, dated October 26, 2020, the judges revealed that morale was at an all-time low within the Judiciary over the alleged interference with their work. They also accused their boss, Chief Justice Luke Malaba of employing an overplaying hand regarding court judgments, adding that many of them were operating in fear of being victimised instead of being objective.

The judges accused Malaba of interfering with magistrates’ decisions through the office of the chief magistrate. -Newsday/additional reporting

Violence In Mbare

17 people yesterday appeared in court charged with public violence that rocked Mupedzanhamo market since Friday.

The accused, who were represented by Brighton Sadowera appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

Mangosi remanded them in custody to today for bail application.

On October 10, the accused persons, who were in two groups, allegedly went on a rampage in a fight for the control of Mupedzanhamo vending stalls.

It is alleged that they threw stones at each other, blocked traffic and stoned moving vehicles, injuring innocent people.

It is alleged that the accused persons were arrested at the crime scene.

In an unrelated matter, the City of Harare has resolved to reopen Mupedzanhamo market, that is going to accommodate 1 800 vendors, next week and Chishawasha grounds before year end.

In an interview with NewsDay, City of Harare Small to Medium Enterprises chairperson councillor Denford Ngadziore said: “We are working with all stakeholders involved and we are in our final preparatory stage to reopen Mupedzanhamo market by next week.

“The other thing is that there is this issue of politicisation of Mbare. There is too much tension in Mbare, so that tension needs stakeholders’ engagement. People who are fighting in Mbare are all Zimbabweans, we understand they come from different political parties, so what we are trying to do is to bring them together.”

In a statement yesterday, the City of Harare also said it would accommodate 3 500 traders at Chishawasha grounds before year end.

“Before year end, we hope to open Chishawasha grounds market which was fenced off with metal mesh years ago to accommodate about 3 500 traders,” the statement read. -Newsday

If it’s not sex trafficking you do in UAE, which construction company do you run which is in Dubai?, Edith Chibhamu is asked.. she says …

Senate President Mabel Chinomona says 128 women who were victims of human trafficking have been repatriated to the country from several countries.

Many Zimbabweans, especially women, have been lured mainly to the Middle East where they have been forced into back-breaking domestic work and sex slavery.

Some are lured by false job promises and end up being stranded.

Addressing participants at an enforcement forum for women parliamentarians in Kigali, Rwanda yesterday, Chinomona said the majority of the female victims were lured by promises of well-paying jobs offered by networks without realising the nature of their future employment or the working conditions.

“In recent years, the Zimbabwean government learnt that about 200 of its female citizens had been trafficked after falling prey to human trafficking schemes. Efforts were made by the government to assist these women, but only 128 women were rescued and repatriated home,” Chinomona said.

“The programme was conducted in collaboration with the International Organisation of Migration, which assisted with funding for medical and psycho-social support to the identified victims.

“The Trafficking in Persons Protocol is a commendable international agreement which calls for the criminalisation of trafficking of persons as well as the provision of survivor-centred institutions or policies for victims.”

Chinomona said Zimbabwe had criminalised human trafficking, and offered survivor-centred programmes for victims.

“The law allows for compensation of victims of trafficking by the perpetrator, such as loss of income, damage to property and medical expenses, among other things”.

“Through our representative function, as legislators we also have a responsibility to share information with our constituents about these human trafficking schemes, so that young girls and women do not fall victim,” she said.

Foreign affairs deputy minister David Musabayana said the repatriated women would be assisted by the Home Affairs and the Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare ministries.

A 2016 report based on the Global Slavery Index estimated that there may be about 480 000 people in some Middle East countries who live in modern slavery. —Newsday

Zanu PF Hikes Membership Fee By 300%

Vazet Says CCC: A Lost Entity

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | My father told me the story of a milk man. He used to sell his milk in the villages around him. Every morning he will cycle his by cycle village by village delivering his milk. He would always be in a white suit those days it was called safari suit. Everyday he will deliver all his milk.

One day the milkman cycled as usual he went to a village called Chidhau nobody not even one bought a drop of milk. He went to Chikodzonga Ngoshi Gwanzura Chiringa Mavhudzi nobody bought his milk. He was now getting frustrated. He then stopped in Nhau village offered his milk for free. Just one look at him they all refused to get the milk. Now he decided to make one last stop at Maendesa village he thought his Sahwira known as mudhara Frank will get the milk. But Frank refused but offered him a quick advise. “My friend Frank said, look on this mirror and you will notice why people are not getting your milk even for free.”The milk man looked and low and behold there was a yellow lump of mucus Bogies on his white shirt. It had dried but still left a disgusting sight. Each person who saw the disgusting yellow mucus on his white shirt will retreat in the house to vomit.
One can not talk of rule of law without showing the inclination of following his own law. You can not talk of democracy when you can not be democratic to yourself.
If you want to run a business of any magnitude ( incorporated or unincorporated), you need to set out a governance document or a form of written constitution that sets out your vision and your objectives. That document identifies your purpose and mission so as to establish your legitimacy. It also governs your internal relationships and how you relate to the outside world.
Interpersonal skills and any human to human relationship is governed by a set of rules called the constitution.

Mr Chamisa and the CCC are doing even what elderly folks in rural ereas would cringe at: running a political organisation on a whim and without a single document. CHAMISA is running the party as a church where the pastor can not be questioned. Chamisa is choking in the confusion of a pastor and a power star. It rhymes but it is clearly different.
Anything in today’s world needs a constitution.
If running a partnersip of operating only two registred taxis vehicles requires a partnership document, the need for running a proper political party with a constitution does not need any emphasis at all.

No one knows what CCC is, other than that it has been labelled as a political party. No one knows the eligibility criteria for membership. No one knows the elegibility for political leadership. In fact there is no office other than the unelected offices of president and his spokesperson who is Chamisa’s soul mate.

There is simply no constitution to give identity to CCC. Zimbabweans cannot objectively judge the authenticity of the party because there is no set out structure or constitution to evaluate and judge the party’s credibility on. CCC has no parameters. If they were to be in office they would run the country arbitrarily.

The party has no foundation, no values, no vision and no goal. Zimbabweans are being sold a dummy. This is Mr Chamisa’s personal toy. He can get rid of it at any moment and say that it never was after all. There are no expectations, no standard and no rules to hold Chamisa by.

In fact without an election and without a constitution, the self-proclaimed leader is the law unto himself.

This party is called a coalition of citizens? It is unknown as to why citizens are coming together, beyond the clamour that “Chamisa chete chete”. This rancour and clamour can be made at a shabeen or pub but that does not elevate the grouping of drunks to a political party just because they say “Chamisa chete chete”.

By its definition, a serious political party is one that has a defined ideology, a structure, a constitution and clearly identified values.

Clearly the party collects funds from members of the public through subscriptions etc. That is well and fair enough. The problem here is that without a constitution there is no financial transparency or accountability. This is a grave concern.

Mr Chamisa, Miss Mahere and the CCC (whoever the CCC is) have represented that they are the champions of democracy. They claim that they want to bring democracy to Zimbabwe. The sad irony is that they have not brought any democracy to their own party. They do not understand what democracy is because they are undemocratic in their origin, nature and practice.

There is a big issue of trust. Chamisa cannot ask Zimbabweans to trust that he will bring democracy to the country when his existence as a leader is via undemocratic means.

Democracy in governance is an inherently hard thing to achieve even by those who try and have the best of intentions. This is because the state is a complex organisim. A leader has to balance many competing interests. Chamisa is not even trying when he is outside power and it sends chills on the spine to realise that if he were to get hold of the state machinary he would act with shameful and dangerous impunity. Zimbabweans are not children. They know that the ditactorship with which Mr Chamisa runs the CCC will blosom into an ugly best if he were to taste power.

There are other things that are terrifying about CCC being without a rader, without a compass, without a constitution and its leader without accountability. This is that the relationship between Chamisa and the rest of the “big” fellas at CCC is akin to that of a selfish poligamist man with his multiple unhappy wives. The selfish man brands the discords, disharmony and disunity in the relationship as a happy family, much the same way as Chamisa brands the awkward and often uneasy relationships within his outfit.

Even worse, Chamisa, in this typically unhappy poligamous relationship, is not challenged That is their business. It becomes our concern when Chamisa wants to be a state president. He is unchallenged and unaccountable now. The same band of people who allow him to run a party without a constitution will allow him to run our country any how, if he were to be elected into office.

Therefore this is not a matter where we are just concerned with a mere piece of paper or lack of it by CCC; it is not just that they have no constitution. The underlying issue is that they have no democratic accountability within themselves and they masquerade as democratic saviours. The concern is that Chamisa wants us to believe that if he were to get into office he will rule by the rule of law when he has not evidenced that in running his own party.

CCC has put forward a bizarre excuse for not having a constitution by saying that Zanu will copy it. There are tens of thousands of constitutions on line. If Zanu PF wanted to copy anything (which is an insane suggestion anyway) why would it particularly copy CCC’s consitution? Zanu PF has existed and won elections since 1980. What would possibly be unique and enticing in the CCC constitution.

Assuming that Zanu PF will indeed copy the constitution. Even then one would have thought that running a party without democratic accountability and without a constitution was too grave an issue; that the need to avoid your opponent copying your document pales into insignificance compared to the need to demonstrate and cultivate a constitutional culture.

Are we meant to believe that if CCC were to get into power it may run the country without a structure and without a constitution or policy if it felt that a neighbouring country will copy those? What parents will starve their children on the grounds that cooking will attract thieves who will break in, steal and escape with the food? So the preferred option is to starve to death the children or, in Chamisa’s equivalent, run an organisation without an election, without a constitution and plainly undemocratically?

We can not rule out the fact that CCC are too incompetent to produce a constitution and policies anywhere. Therefore we can’t trust them to govern. Governing involves coming up with numerous statutes and Statutory Instruments. This is a serious matter. If a party runs without documents in opposition, it must know that there is no such delusional aporoach in office abd statesmanship.

Zimbabweans are watching. They will not be fooled by those who combine incompetence and impunity. CCC is not only beneath its depth, it is tun dictatorial.

What basis doe Chamisa call himself an opposition leader. What basis does Nyembesi Mahere call herself the spokesperson of CCC.

Former Zanu PF Youth Boss Belittles Chamisa

By- Godfrey Tsenengamu, the former Zanu PF Youth League Political Commissar has belittled the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa.

Tsenengamu said the CCC leader is weak and cannot dislodge Zanu PF from power.

Tsenengamu who now leads the Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ) made the remarks after announcing the impending formation of a coalition with other smaller parties to overthrow both the ruling Zanu PF and CCC.

He said the two major parties would not bring change to Zimbabwe, NewZimbabwe reported.

Addressing a Press conference in Harare Tuesday, Tsenengamu said he has lost confidence in CCC as it was failing to pile pressure while its members were rotting in jail. He said:

We believe in confronting the problem whatever it is and we are so much convinced that under the leadership of Advocate Nelson Chamisa if we were to work with him under the CCC we were not going to achieve what we intended to achieve.

Yes, we admit they are a very strong movement, Chamisa is very likeable, very popular and a good public speaker, but we think that he is weak somehow, he is ineffective.

The situation that Zimbabwe finds itself in, does not require a leadership that thinks Zanu PF is going to be removed through prayers and tweeting, Zanu PF is a beast that has to be confronted head on, Zimbabwe requires a movement that can square up to Zanu PF blow by blow.

He also accused Chamisa of failing to unite his own party, being self-centred and exhibiting dictatorial tendencies.

Fight Over Knowe Residents Association

A fresh turf war has erupted between splinter groups of Knowe Residents and Ratepayers Association calling parallel meetings in Norton.

Knowe is a predominantly medium density surburb developed by E. Pfugari Properties.

The turf war is between Todson Ruramai, who is being accused of acrimoniously holding on to the chairmanship of the association since 2002 and turning the organisation into his personal entity.

The splinter group, which has been fruitfully engaging Norton Town Council and the property developer, is fronted by Damian Ndoro.

Ruramai has called for an annual general meeting in his capacity as KRRA chairperson, but some residents have vowed not to attend the meeting.

“Ruramai has been the chairperson for the past twenty years. He only wants power but is not pushing the area’s agenda. We are not going to attend,” said one resident.

Ruramai maintains he is a bonafide leader of the association.

“I have fought for the development of this area for a long time. I have taken the developer to court and we have won several cases. People should judge me with what I have done over these years, not with the time I have been at the helm,” he said.

Ndoro said his bone of contention with Ruramai was on the model to take for the development of the area and the fact that he has turned his association to a one man band.

“The fact is, he is the only member of his committee – at least he should have told us who the other members are. He has been asked on several occasions and can’t even mention just one. The last meeting he called on 17 September 2017 such a committee was not there and can’t be there now. He remains a sole executive member of KRRA. That has serious implications on the functionality of the Association and the decision making process,” Ndoro said.

“I believe we will develop Knowe with our own resources. We have to fork out more money. We are not the first people to lose to a developer. We can’t just sit hoping one day our suburb will be what we want it to be. We have to work for change. Change is coming. I can smell rain. I see rain coming, said Elijah to Ahab. Ahab was a cruel king,” he said.

Mbappe Desperate To Leave PSG

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told the Paris Saint Germain board that he wants to leave the club in January, amid revelations that the is ‘fed up’.

The 23-year France international extended his stay at the club for another three years last season, after it was widely-speculated that he would move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Mbappe fully-committed his future to PSG but but reportedly now wants out.

French publication Le Parisian reports that the World Cup winner is not happy with the position he is playing under head coach Christophe Galtier, as it does not correspond with the promises made in his new contract.

Mbappe reportedly wants a move to Madrid in January, but that is highly unlikely, considering the broken relationship between PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi and his Los Blancos counterpart Florentino Perez.

Bosso Send Powerful Delegation To Europe

The Highlanders delegation has left the country ahead of their European tour.

The four-man delegation, consisting of board chairman Luke Mnkandla, executive chairman Johnfart Sibanda, secretary general Morgan Dube and treasurer Busani Mthombeni – is heading to Paris, France, where they will spend three days.

The group will then split, with two members – the board chairman and the executive chairman – going to Manchester, England and the others heading to Barcelona, Spain.

This comes amid reports of turf wars between members of the ruling ZANU PF and opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members.

Recent clashes on Friday resulted in the death of one man, Onsimo Mavhingire (34) after he was severely assaulted with sticks and wooden poles at Magaba, Mbare on 07 October 2022 at around 1400 hours.

Mavhingire succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack, on 08/10/22 while admitted at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

Thirteen (13) people have been arrested in connection with the clashes.

Teachers Union Demand Dismissal Of Minister Murwira

Teachers’ unions are demanding the dismissal of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development minister Amon Murwira for calling on the new graduates to open own schools to cater for the estimated 4 000 schools deficit in the country.

The unions said the remarks were reckless since government in constitutionally mandated to provide education facilities for its citizens and not delegate that responsibility to private investors.

Addressing a graduation ceremony at the United College of Education (UCE) in Bulawayo recently, Murwira stated that graduate teachers should open private schools to cover the over 4 000 deficit in the country.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) president Obert Masaraure said the availability of quality public education was a fundamental right whose provision fell squarely on the State.

“Private educational institutions were never designed to take the responsibility to provide education from the State. If anything, the duty of the State becomes more pronounced as it must directly supervise these schools to ensure the education offered meets the quality necessary for national development. In addition, regional and international conventions and instruments are clear on the duty of the State in providing accessible quality education for all,” Masaraure said.

“Only ruling party, the elite can afford to create these private schools. Murwira’s sentiments were meant to legitimise the proliferation of private schools owned by the ruling elites. Teachers are being exploited in such schools and we hope the graduate teachers understand that they are being lured to private schools to be exploited.”

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou added: “The issue of building institutions of learning is a government issue. Murwira must accept that the State has failed. If the State has failed, it is better to look for investors who could possibly build schools.”

Educators Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Tapedza Zhou said: “The government has an obligation to provide quality education through a regulatory framework that includes policy formulation and implementation and a sound monitoring and supervisoryrole that effectively checks the quality of education.”

Efforts to get a comment from Murwira were fruitless yesterday as he was not picking calls.

Meanwhile, government has reinstated some of the teachers that were suspended for absenteeism.

This has resulted in union leaders such as Tafadzwa Munodawafa being reinstated after a 22-month impasse.

Tsenengamu Says His Party Will Push For GNU After 2023 Polls

Opposition Front for Economic Emancipation leader Godfrey Tsenengamu said his party would push for the formation of a government of national unity after next year’s general elections.

Addressing a Press conference in Harare yesterday, Tsenengamu said they were prepared to confront State security agents — particularly members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) in the run-up to next year’s polls.

“We are not afraid of anyone; be it the CIO because we are not going to break any law to mobilise people. If anyone thinks that they will stop us, they will be disappointed as they wont be able to stop us.

“We will respond equally to anyone who wants to stop us because we believe that we are all equal. What is enjoyed by Zanu-PF should be enjoyed by everyone,” Tsenengamu said.

He called on the ruling party to desist from disrupting opposition rallies ahead of elections.

“Zanu-PF has no monopoly over how political parties must conduct their campaigns. Zanu-PF is not terrorised at opposition strongholds; so no one must terrorise us (opposition) as we get into their perceived strongholds. We have been in Zanu-PF; and we know how they do their things. We know what is going to come our way, but as a party we are ready.”

On use of hate speech during campaigns, Tsenengamu said: “The third force is also going to pronounce itself to such issues because we believe in stability and harmony together as a people. I may not like your ideology or agree with the way you do things, but I don’t haveto use hate speech for that. We are going to be preaching peace and speak strongly against hate speech.”

Recently, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission warned politicians against using hate speech saying it disturbs peace and personal security of citizens.

Infidelity Lands Harare Man In Boiling Water

A Harare man is fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit after he was allegedly scalded with boiling water by his wife over infidelity.

This is after he posted a picture of his girlfriend on his WhatsApp status.

The man’s wife, Nomatter Chipoyera, appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere, who remanded her in custody.

The court heard that on Saturday, at around 9pm, Chipoyera had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity issues.

He had posted a picture of his girlfriend on his WhatsApp status.

Chipoyera allegedly picked up a stone and hit her husband once on the left side of his head.

She was restrained by other tenants, from further attacking her husband, and they retired to bed.

It’s alleged that in the early hours of Sunday, at around 1am, Chipoyera poured hot water all over her husband’s body, while he was sleeping.

He sustained third degree burns.

The husband filed a police report in Budiriro and was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he is currently admitted in the ICU.

Godswish Dzivakwi appeared for the State.

Ken Sharpe’s Aide, Tatiana Aleshina Is The ‘Masterminder’ Of My Persecution, Says Biti

By A Correspondent| Harare East legislator and top Harare lawyer Tendai Biti yesterday told Harare Regional Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti Guwuriro that controversial businessman Kenneth Raydon Sharpe’s aide Ms Tatiana Aleshina was the masterminder of his persecution while she enjoyed a ‘suspicious relationship’ with state prosecutors handling their matter.

Biti made the remarks while arguing that his constitutional rights were infringed after Guwuriro dismissed his application for referral of his case to the Constitutional Court.

“Your Worship i will lead my evidence and demonstrate how the complainant (Tatiana Aleshina) masterminded this malicious persecution against me that she has abused State institution against me in my case and other cases that I will go into greater detail.

Tatiana Aleshina (right) arriving at Harare Magistrates Court yesterday

“I will outline her involvements in a foreign company called Augur Investments which entered into agreement with the City of Harare in 2008.

“Your Worship the evidence that am going to lead is the power of the complainant in abusing Zimbabwe’s laws and her capacity to access high offices to get what she wants and extrication,” said Biti.

He further narrated how Aleshina has used her influence to the highest office in the country to get criminal immunity which she abuses to protect people around her including one Michael John Van Blerk.

“Van Blerk was prosecuted by Mr Michael Reza and the complainant wrote letters to the State saying why are you prosecuting us while we have an agreement, the letters are there Your Worship

“If someone is that powerful to stop such a case, what about my merely assault,” added Biti.

He added that Aleshina has been using the deed of settlement where she signed on behalf of Augur Investments to plead with the High Court against prosecution.

“I will present pleadings before the High Court of Zimbabwe which the complainant admits that she went to the highest office in Zimbabwe and extract a deed of settlement where she signed herself and on behalf of Aurgur Investments,” Biti said.

He also linked Aleshina with the controversial Pomona land deal which is at the centre of a legal dispute involving a company called Fairclot Investments and Augur Investments saying she went as far as going to the highest office to extract a deed of settlement to get criminal immunity.

“The complainant (Aleshina) was at the centre of the 654 Pomona Township which belongs to the Government of Zimbabwe, then litigants started and the arbitration awarded to Augur Investments and Augur did not honor that.

“The matter went for arbitration in the High Court of Zimbabwe in the matter of City of Harare vs Augur Investments and the matter was set aside by justice Muremba and the matter went on appeal and the complainant using her influence before the matter went in, the complainant went to the highest office in Zimbabwe and extracted a deed of settlement to get criminal immunity, here she’s a posing as a complainant,” said Biti.

Biti is facing allegations of manhandling Aleshina at the Magistrates’ Court.

Harare businessman George Katsimberis has previously labelled Aleshina a dark individual who openly admits to capturing state institutions.

“The aforesaid Tatiana Aleshina is a dark individual who has literally openly admitted in other proceedings to various forms of state capture,” said Katsimberis in another matter.

Mai Titi In Trouble, Dragged To Court

Felistas “Mai TT” Murata has been dragged to the Harare Civil Court for threatening to beat up a woman she suspects of dating her estranged husband, Tinashe Maphosa.

Mai TT is allegedly threatening to bash Panashe Nzenza, who is claiming that her life is now in danger.

She is seeking a protection order against the socialite.

The matter will be heard on October 18, with both parties presenting their cases.

Through her defence counsel, Gurira & Associates, Legal Practitioners, Panashe filed an affidavit claiming that Mai TT was threatening to harm her.

“I submit that the respondent has been threatening harm to my life.

“In particular, the respondent has made allegations that I am involved with her husband, Tinashe Maphosa, which allegations are incorrect.about:blank

“The respondent has vowed to hunt me down and beat me up.

“I have been called a ‘w***e’ and b****,” reads part of the affidavit.

Panashe further claimed Mai TT threatened to hire people to harm her.

“The respondent has threatened to hire people to cause me harm.

“She has even proceeded to go on social media platforms such as Facebook and published my personal phone number to multitudes of her followers.

“I submit that I am now living in fear as I have been threatened.

“I have no other alternative, but to approach this honourable court seeking protection.

“The respondent has vowed to take the law into her own hands to beat me up and cause harm.

“I humbly seek this honourable court’s protection.

“I fear that I may be harmed if this order is not granted.

“I have no other remedy but to seek protection in this court,” reads her affidavit.

In the exhibits, Mai TT was scolding Panashe for not being related to the Maphosa family.

“The way you ignore my call, I don’t really understand what’s going on.

“I am beginning to even think there is something going on between you and Tinashe.

“I won’t bother you again, I will talk to your mother.

“You are not related to Tinashe iwewe.

“I don’t know you and that clan doesn’t know you, ndichakutsvaga,” said Mai TT, in one of the messages she sent Panashe.

Former Zanu PF Youth Leader Says Chamisa Is Weak To Win State Power

Former ZANU PF Youth League Political Commissar, Godfrey Tsenengamu, has said the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa, is weak, therefore, cannot dislodge ZANU PF from power.

A few months ago, Tsenegamu endorsed Chamisa saying he knew his FEEZ party would not win if it went it alone, but was willing to work with CCC as he saw potential in the movement to get ZANU PF out of power.

Zanu PF Purges Six (6) Chamisa Councillors

By- The Zanu PF government has suspended six opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors in Chitungwiza for allegedly convening an illegal meeting which re-instated former mayor Lovemore Maiko last week.

The government’s axe fell on Maiko, former deputy mayor and ward 19 councillor Musa Makweza, party chief whip Richard Chamutsa (ward 5), Peter Matiringe (ward 10), Kuda John (ward 21) and ward 14 councillor Chengetai Nyagondo.
The CCC councillors pushed for the holding of mayoral elections despite the resistance by acting mayor Kiven Mutimbanyoka.
In his letter to Maiko dated October 10, Moyo said: “You attended an illegal meeting in the council chambers after the official ordinary meeting which was being chaired by acting mayor had been adjourned,” he said.
“You went further to propose the chairmanship of John when you know that Mutimbanyoka was the chairman who had the authority to chair such a meeting,”
“You wilfully disobeyed the law by accepting the position of mayor when you were fully aware that there is an acting mayor and the procedure as outlined in the Urban Councils Act had not been followed.”

Sikhala Feels Abandoned By CCC- Analysts

The incarcerated CCC Vice Chairperson, Job Sikhala’s message expressing gratitude to a number of individuals and organisations leaving out Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has sparked debate.

There are speculated reports that Sikhala is feeling betrayed by the CCC leadership since his arrest in June this year.

Political analyst Methuseli Moyo said: “Clearly, the CCC leadership has not demonstrated any meaningful and sustained concern about Sikhala’s predicament. Their messages on Sikhala have been sporadic and individualised.”

Another political analyst Kudakwashe Munemo said: “The statement’s silence on CCC on the list of individuals and institutions offering solidarity to Sikhala may be loudly telling the party that it has to up its response to his arrest by providing strategic solidarity.”

Political analyst Eldred Masunungure weighed in saying the long incarceration may be taking a heavy toll on Sikhala.

“Their case is a classic example whereby the legal and the political merge seamlessly into each other. It then means if the legal route is blocked, perhaps it is time to forge a political path to resolving the impasse,” Masunungure said.

Sikhala’s lawyer and family spokesperson Freddy Masarirevu said there was nothing amiss about the statement.

“People will always interpret information anyhow; the unfortunate thing is I do not have control over the manner in which people can interpret things,” he said.

Sikhala is being charged alongside fellow MP Godfrey Sithole and 14 other Nyatsime residents after announcing a cultural family statement in honour of his deceased client and to discourage the ongoing violence. The state however claims he incited violence.- additional reporting Newsday

T Freddy Takes Ex-Lover To Court

By-Self proclaimed Preacher Tapiwa Freddy, popularly known as T-Freddy, was Tuesday back in court in the matter where he is accusing his ex-girlfriend of extortion.

Radio presenter Rutendo Makuti, Witness Bungu (Chief Chikwaka) and Gibson Jaji appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded the matter to November 7.
The trio told the court that they intended to file an application for referral to the Constitutional Court.
The court heard that in 2020, Freddy was in a love affair with Makuti.
During the course of their romance, Makuti allegedly threatened to expose their affair if Freddy did not meet her financial demands.
Chief Chikwaka allegedly accused Freddy of raping Makuti, and of sleeping with her before a year had lapsed, after the death of her husband.
The chief told him to pay something as a sacrifice.
Freddy promised to pay US$15 000 and three goats.
Jaji allegedly threatened to arrest Freddy, during one of his church services, while Chief Chikwaka said he would leak a video of the conversation they had, on social media.
Makuti told Freddy to pay her the money or she would expose him through the controversial Tatelicious.
Freddy filed a police report and Makuti was arrested and she implicated Jaji.
Freddy was tried and acquitted of raping Makuti last year.

Senior Priest Suspended Over Leaked Romantic Pictures

By-An Anglican Diocese of Harare priest has been suspended over romantic pictures with another woman.

Father Taurai Kachembere is married and has since been suspended over the circulating pictures.

Allegations are that he is now living with Thandeka Sithole, the woman he appears with, in the leaked pictures.

There are claims that the two even have a bouncing baby boy.

He is married to Simbisai Dongo Kachembere.
Their wedding took place on July 2, 2011, in Chinhoyi.
The church suspended him pending an investigation.
Sources within the church said this is not the first time the man of the cloth has been suspended over infidelity issues.
Bishop Farai Mutamiri said it was against the church’s policy to comment over pending issues.
“I am so sorry it is against our policy to discuss pending clergy/staff matters. Kind regards,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Father Kachembere reacted angrily.
“I have seen the pictures and you are not the first one to ask about the pictures.
“But if the sources are from the church, why can’t they go through the structures?
“Is that how credible journalism is all about?
“What do you benefit from pestering people over their pictures?
“If you get your picture with someone, does it mean it’s what is happening there.
“Did you call my wife to hear about our marriage? “This is not journalism you are doing.
“Pamapictures acho ndaimubvisa hembe here, or ndanga ndisina kupfeka?
“Is this how you do journalism calling people over their pictures?

Facts About Mental Health

Many companies offer corporate counselling.

Boss Fondles Employee In Toilet

A 29-year-old PC Royal Casino manager last week appeared in court on allegations of rap_ing a female employee in the company’s toilet after threatening her that she would lose her employment contract.

Aldo Tucia of number 562 Borrowdale Brooke, Harare, was facing rap_e charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Vongai Muchuchuti.

He was remanded out of custody.

The court heard that sometime in April, the complainant got an employment contract at PC Royal Casino in Greystone Park, Harare, where Tuci is the manager but during that time the operators of the company were not yet instituted as the company was not yet open.

As of such, the company was on the verge of making some final touches, preparing to fully operate the business.

The court heard that on June 30, Tuci invited the complainant to their workplace advising her to report there and not to advise anyone from their workplace or come with anyone.

Upon arrival, the complainant met Tuci who was in the company of his friends and he ordered her to prepare tea.

After the complainant visited the toilet and allegations are that Tuci followed her. When Tuci noticed that the complainant had noticed him, he eventually told her that he wanted to be intimate with her, upon which he got into the toilet and locked the door.

Tuci alleged that he wanted the s_3xual favour so that she would not lose her employment.

It is alleged that Tuci started f0ndling the complainant before rap_ing her.

A report was made leading Tuci’s arrest.

Madam Boss Evicts Pregnant Husband’s Lover

By-Comedienne and socialite, Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho and her husband are selling the “defiled” Seke house, H-Metro has established.

The house in question accommodates Evangelista Ngonidzashe Zhou, Madam Boss’ husband Ngoni’s pregnant girlfriend.

The selling of this house could leave the pregnant lover homeless.
Ngoni has, however, promised Evangelista alternative accommodation.
“Ndakutengesa stand iyoyo ndiite zvimwe totsvaga pamwe pekuti ugare panemvura,” reads part of messages sent by Ngoni to Evangelista.
In her reply, Evangelista urged Ngoni to be strong.
“But try to be strong Ngoni ndinoziva wakaremerwa, tese takaremerwa, but iwe ukadaro ndozoita sei?
“Munoita zvakakusunungukirai henyu matowana munhu wacho arikuida here?”
Evangelista vowed not to leave the Seke house and this could have forced Madam Boss and Ngoni to put it up for sale.
Sources close to Evangelista disclosed that one Seke resident informed Madam Boss about the former’s stay at the house, which led to the clash.
Reports claimed Madam Boss took her Mercedes Benz from Ngoni.
It has also been reported that Ngoni has also been staying with his parents since the clash last week, which exposed his shenanigans.
One of Ngoni’s sisters told H-Metro that Ngoni failed to swallow his pride.
“I hope Ngoni will come to his senses and swallow his pride and seek forgiveness.
“Madam Boss is loving and had been a family pillar of strength that we cannot allow the devil to wreck this marriage.
“Ngoni made a mistake of stooping low to bed Evangelista, overlooking Madam Boss’ family position, motherhood and international status.
“We will not tolerate Evangelista at all and that is why we wanted her to be evicted from the house.
“Ngoni failed us as a family.”
In a family meeting, Ngoni said Evangelista could pay rentals to the new house owner once they get one. H Metro

Mnangagwa Blocks Nurses From Going To The UK

By-The Zimbabwean government has reportedly stopped issuing clearance letters for nurses in a bid to frustrate them from leaving the country for greener pastures.

This follows mass resignations that have hit the country’s public hospitals as health professionals migrate abroad for better salaries and working conditions, NewsDay reported.

In March, the government doubled application fees for nurses’ confirmation letters and certificates from US$150 to US$300.

An email sent to a nurses’ union leader from the United Kingdom Nursing and Midwifery Council reads in part:

We have received notification that the Zimbabwe government has taken a decision to withhold issuing verification of qualification and character for its nurses who wish to join our register.

In response to this, we are currently exploring ways in which we support applicants including alternative options where possible and whether they will provide the same assurance as verification from the nursing council.

A health expert, who requested anonymity, told NewsDay that although nurses were prepared to pay for verification letters, the government had refused to clear them.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, health caregivers resigned en masse from public health institutions citing poor remuneration and risky working conditions.

Official figures show that last year alone Zimbabwe lost nearly 1 800 nurses, mainly to Britain. That’s more than 10% of all the nurses working in public hospitals.

Madam Boss Withdraws Her Benz From Cheating Husband

By-Comedienne and socialite, Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho has withdrawn her Mercedes Benz from her cheating husband.

This happened after her husband impregnated one Evangelista and accommodated her at their Seke Matrimonial house.

Before Madam Boss took her merc, she indicated she was selling the Seke house.

Her husband, however, promised Evangelista alternative accommodation.

“Ngoni made a mistake of stooping low to bed Evangelista, overlooking Madam Boss’ family position, motherhood and international status.
“We will not tolerate Evangelista at all and that is why we wanted her to be evicted from the house.

In a family meeting, Ngoni said Evangelista could pay rentals to the new house owner once they get one.

Enock Mwepu Reveals Plans After Retirement

Enock Mwepu has revealed his next plan after being forced to retire from playing football at the age of 24 due to a high risk of ‘fatal cardiac arrest’.

The Zambian fell ill while on a flight to link up with his Chipolopolo teammates in the international break last month and spent a period in hospital in Mali. He returned to England to undergo further cardiac tests and has been advised to stop playing football.

In a statement published on Monday, Mwepu revealed that he is planning to remain in football in some capacity after cutting short his career.

“Some dreams, however, come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up by boots because of the medical advice I have received,” the statement read in part.

“This is not the end of my involvement in football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity.”

Brighton’s head of medicine and performance Adam Brett explained the player’s condition: “It is a terrible blow for Enock, but he has to put his health and his family first and this is the right choice, however difficult it is to quit the game he loves.

“Given this is Enock’s career and a decision which can’t be taken lightly, we have taken our time to be as thorough as possible, completed advanced cardiac investigations and collaborated with clinical experts to gain the best second opinions for Enock.

“We will be helping him make sure the condition is managed with the appropriate treatment for him to otherwise live a long and healthy life.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

The 31-year-old France international has not played since mid-August due to the hamstring issue.

He returned to training a week ago but suffered the reaction on Monday.

“N’Golo, we are just waiting — he has had a reaction in training so we are just waiting on the news from that,” said coach Graham Potter.

“It’s certainly not ideal and it’s disappointing for him and for us. We have to wait and see the extent of it and go from there.”

Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech will also be missing the Blues’ visit to the San Siro through illness.

Red Bull Salzburg currently lead Group E on five points, with Chelsea and Milan, who they beat 3-0 in the reverse fixture in second and third on four points.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Gvt Tells Teachers To Build Own Schools

By A Correspondent- Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Amon Murwira has challenged college graduates to be innovative and start to establish their own schools as the country is short of between 3 000 and 4 000 schools.

Murwira made the remarks while speaking during a graduation ceremony at the United College of Education (UCE). He said:

What we lacked was the framework under which our graduates can start schools and be facilitated to do so.

It’s normally a matter of policy direction and resources being poured towards that policy direction.

That’s where the discussion is, not whether we have enough jobs or not. We don’t have enough schools; we don’t have enough teachers and we don’t have enough people with the expertise that you have.

I told you about the deficit of schools. So why are we stuck? Why are we not building schools?

Who said we cannot build schools? Who said we should work for the Public Service Commission?

Section 75, Sub-section 2 of the constitution says you can be the founder of your own schools.

Anybody can start their own school but when you look at most of the private schools, except for the Mother Touch group of schools which was started by a student from Seke Teachers’ College, they belong to people that are not even trained in teaching.

We have to start forming groups of our students to start their own schools and we fund them so they start those institutions.

Why was it not possible? It was not possible because we did not have Education 5.0. Now we have changed the law so that it is now possible to do so.

We changed the National Planning and Development Act so that it can fund school start-ups.

We are starting to operationalise that we have said to every college that at the end, they must spend some time with a graduating class forming these consortiums so we can have, for example, the UCE group of schools or whatever other name you might want to call them. Let’s start with one or two examples next year.

LEAD President Statement On International Day Of The Girl Child

11 October 2022

We join the world to commemorate International Day of the girl child. This is a day to remember aise awareness about issues affecting the girl child and for us to work towards action-oriented plans to uplift young girls.

As Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) we have been advocating for the protection of the girl child in Zimbabwe primarily to be protected against child marriages, child labour, sexual abuse, harassment and any form of violence. We have had several legal cases which demanding the protection of the girl child in various religious sects that were subjecting girls to child marriages.

We are now working on bringing into the fold government to have girl friendly policies and generate
more opportunities for them to have their voices heard.

This year’s theme for the International Day of the Girl Child is “Our time is now—our rights, our future“. The focus is on the multitude of challenges put in front of girls’ path to reach their potential. In our situation in Zimbabwe challenges that girls face are worsened by our patriarchal dominant environment, misogyny and general
lack of respect for the girl child and women in this country. Girls struggle with issues related to their education, their physical and mental wellness, and leading a life without violence.

On the 3rd of October we launched a #MyStoryMyStrength program aimed to encourage the girl child to speak out. I started by telling my own life story so as to inspire the girl child facing difficulties that they are not alone, for them to overcome whatever they are facing they have to speak out and never to be limited by their situation. Girls should be involved by sharing human their stories, blogs and videos of girl changemakers,

It is important for parents and guardians to start changing the societal expectations of the girl child and start equipping her to be able to unleash the best version of herself without fear of being stereotyped. As a country, we need to collectively address the factors that are holding girls back and urge government and policymakers to make more targeted investments.

LEAD continues to inspire the girl child to be influencers and the face of change. The reality is a lot of girls are still oppressed and it is everyone’s responsibility to observe and uphold the the rights of girl child. International Day of the Girl Child calls for people to become that voice of change and empower them. There are deeply-rooted gender biases that have created problematic mindsets leading to challenges faced by girls every step of the way to attain their potential.

International Day of the Girl Child aims to raise awareness about these issues and work towards an action-oriented plan to uplift young girls. Empowered girls are the future of a great and progressive society.

We are committed to empowering the girl child, young women and women at large to become women of valour who know their rights and are ready to LEAD the change wherever they are. As we celebrate the international day of the girl child today we are making a clarion call to all the young ladies who need mentorship to reach out to us as we aspire to build a new generation of woke girls and women.

Happy International Day of the Girl Child!

ZBC Presenter Rutendo Makuti In Bid To Stop Extortion Trial

By A Correspondent| ZBC presenter Rutendo Makuti has approached the Constitutional Court to stop trial in a case in which she is accused of extorting Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder Prophet T Freddy.

Makuti together with her accomplices Chief Chikwaka and former police officer Jaji stands accused of extorting popular Goodness and Mercy Ministries leader Prophet Tapiwa Freddy.

On Tuesday, Makuti’s defense asked the Harare Magistrates courts to issue a warrant of arrest against T Freddy.

The popular prophet who was at the court premises, later cancelled the warrant of arrest.

Makuti’s defence team has gone a step further to approach the constitutional court seeking to block the trial which will now be heard on November 7.

Legal experts have however indicated that those were desperate attempts to stop the case from going to trial.

“That’s a desperate attempt to stop trial. If there is no case they are supposed to go for a trial,” he said.

Makuti was arrested last year for extorting T Freddy before reporting him for rape.

The prophet was cleared by the courts after a much publicised trial.

Chinese Company Opens Mine in Gold-Rich Odzi Area

By A Correspondent| Chinese miner Ming Chang Sino Africa has commenced operations at its new gold mine in Manicaland’s Odzi area about 30km outside Mutare after pumping in millions in United States dollars to procure new equipment.

The company partnered locals to extract gold on the lucrative deposits where 60 have been employed since commencement of operations in May.

Mine director Liu Xialong said the company has 16 claims and it is currently working on one of them.

“Indications are that these are very good deposits and the mine life is quite long. We are prepared to invest millions on this project, but I can’t give you the specific numbers at this stage, ” Xialong said.

The mine hopes to employ an additional 60 permanent workers in the stage 2 of the project.

The long term plan will be to increase local employment numbers to at least 100 which will take the total staff compliment to a minimum of 300 workers.

Investments in Manicaland’s Odzi area has recorded heavy losses amid reports that workers were siphoning fuel from excavators, trucks and storage tanks at the site.

The Chinese owned company reported the matter to local police leading to investigations which unearthed a well elaborate scheme that management said could have cost the company 10 000litres of diesel since operations started.

At least three employees resigned earlier in September during police investigations while others simply ran away when they got wind that the net was fast closing in on them.

Xiaolong told this publication that the culprits drained diesel from excavators, trucks and two on-site fuel storage tanks whose combined capacity is 50 000 litres.

“Over 1000 litres was stolen every month and this puts us to at least 6 000 litres and maybe it can even reach 10 000 ” Xialong said during a tour of the mine.

“It took an internal audit which looked at the traditional use of fuel using similar new trucks for the same kind of work. We looked at log books and found serious discrepancies. For example, excavators which used to be 25l per hour on peak have now reached 40l per hour.

“At the same time, our average fuel consumption per hour is plus or minus 20l yet it has shot to at least 25l per hour. We investigated and caught some workers draining fuel which is then sold to small-scale gold miners in the area, Police investigations confirmed that fuel was being stolen and action was taken.

After disciplinary proceedings and tightening of internal controls, consumption for the excavators had slid significantly to between 16 and 18 litres per hour.

“Some suspects remain on the mine because we could not catch everyone involved or prove allegations but the new system is working, ” he said.

Set Us Free From Central Govt Interference, Mafume Begs

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has demanded autonomy of local authorities saying there is need to be set free from central government interference.

Addressing delegates during a discussion to raise funds for the Matobo and Insiza by-elections by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC Mthwakazi) at the weekend, Mafume said there was need to create zones of autonomy for local authorities.

“The problem we have with the Local Government ministry is the level of pettiness and level of wanting to direct things at local authorities. They use money without consulting us, and enter into agreements on behalf of Harare City Council,” Mafume said.

“They have taken the power stations, they don’t pay royalties. They took roads and vehicle licensing, but we don’t have royalties, they took many other functions that were supposed to be ours, but they haven’t done well on us. It’s a very bad relationship.

“What we need is to restore executive powers, restore devolution and allow the local people to determine their destiny like water. We need greater autonomy for our cities to make decisions, to be able to function properly in a modern society.”

Mafume accused the Local Government ministry of being petty and vindictive, thereby making it difficult for local authorities to properly function.

“The role of devolution should be to remove the supervisory role of the ministry, and probably make it a co-ordination role whereby we can co-ordinate areas of mutual convergence and are strictly governed by the law, and areas where there is need of compliance with the whole nation. We should get somewhere regardless of the fact that we are not in full control of the State.”

Mafume also bemoaned the collapse of the 2009-13 government of national unity (GNU) which he said contributed to national development.

“Had it continued for some time while these other old nationalist guys retired, we could have created a generational consensus which would have allowed the country to be on a better footing. Unfortunately it was all erased when the GNU collapsed and we went back to propaganda politics trying to run a country through sloganeering, which has led us into the mess we are in now,” he said.

Contacted for comment, Local Government minister July Moyo said there was nothing called total autonomy.

“In our jurisdiction, there is nothing called complete autonomy. That is why the Constitution is very clear that we have three tiers of government and they (local authorities) are the third tier; which means in a lot of things they have to report to government,” Moyo said.

Dispute Over Price Of Honda Fit Escalates Into Near Gun Shoot

A Bulawayo man pointed a gun at another following a dispute over the price of a Honda Fit fuel pump.

Police on Twitter, said Emmanuel Charuka (30) was arrested last Wednesday.

“The ZRP warns firearm holders against abusing firearms to settle scores. On 05/10/22, Police in Bulawayo arrested Emmanuel Charuka (30) for pointing a firearm. The suspect pointed a 9mm pistol at Maxwell Tshabalala (39) at a car parts shop in Kelvin Northgu after disagreeing on the price of a Honda Fit fuel pump. The Police have since recovered the 9mm pistol registered in the suspect’s name,” posted the police.

A firearm amnesty was issued between August 8 and September 30 and Police said 538 firearms and 260 rounds of ammunition had been surrendered across the country.

Thereafter police said a search of premises will be conducted where suspected illegal firearms are being kept. Those found with unlicensed firearms will be prosecuted.

The amnesty was granted in terms of Article 12 of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Protocol on the control of firearms, ammunition and related materials.

The primary objective of the Sadc Protocol is to prevent, combat and eradicate the illicit manufacturing of firearms, ammunition and other related materials.

It also seeks to regulate the import and export of legal small arms and thus curb the transit of these weapons into and within the region.

Police said they suspect some members of the public are still in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

This has led to the abuse of firearms in the country in clear violation of the provisions of the Firearms Act.

Checks and records, the police said, have revealed that some companies have closed yet their representatives are still holding onto firearms while hunters and individuals are no longer in the same position that they were when they applied for firearm licenses.

Zanu PF Mash East Province Burning

Discord has rocked the Zanu PF party in Mashonaland East province, with reports of divisions in the provincial executive.

This paper is reliably informed that some top party officials have accused the provincial leadership of heavy-handedness and making wrong decisions on crucial matters.

Provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe recently told a provincial co-ordinating committee in Marondera that he is aware of a plot to oust him.

“Let me take this opportunity to tell you that I am aware of the plots against me. I hear that some are mulling to sign a petition against me, but that will not work. I will not stop executing my duties and campaigning for President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Garwe said.

At the same meeting, party official Jerry Gotora told the gathering that Garwe was voted into power and could only be removed by the same process.

“Chairman (Garwe), you should not be worried about that (petition). You were voted into power by us, and you can leave that position through the same process. You are the chairman continue with your work,” Gotora said.

In the past few months, Garwe announced the suspension of two district co-ordinating committee DCC chairpersons, Alfred Pedzisa (Chikomba) and Israel Maliki (Murewa), accusing them of incompetence and insubordination.

Maliki, who has since been replaced by Murewa DCC secretary for education Wellington Kademeteme is yet to appear before a disciplinary hearing.

Provincial disciplinary committee chairperson Kudzai Majuru yesterday confirmed the suspension of Maliki but could not divulge more details.

“I confirm that he was suspended and is set to appear before a disciplinary hearing,” Majuru said.

Pedzisa was suspended at an inter-district meeting held at Sadza Growth Point before being replaced by Transport minister and Chikomba Central legislator Felix Mhona.

Mhona is also the provincial secretary for administration.

Pedzisa has since appeared before a disciplinary hearing and is waiting for the verdict.

The sacking of Maliki and Pedzisa has brought discomfort within party members with reports that more DCC chairpersons are set to be suspended.
