Sikhala Bail Hearing Postponed To Thursday

By A Correspondent| The High Court has postponed Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala’s bail hearing to Thursday after the state failed to file its papers on time.

Sikhala who was arrested together with Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole on allegations of inciting violence at the funeral of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

They were denied bail at the Harare Magistrates court, forcing them to approach the High Court where the matter was struck off the roll on the grounds that their lawyers had not secured a transcript of the proceedings from the lower court.

Confirming the news to ZimEye, CCC Deputy Spokesperson Gift Siziba said;

“Hon Job Sikhala and Sithole bail hearing has been postponed to Thursday 9am at the High court. The state failed to file its papers thus the hearing could not proceed.”

Wadyajena Hits Back At GMAZ Boss

By A Correspondent- Gokwe Nembudziya legislator Mayor Wadyajena has hit back at Grain Millers Association (GMAZ) chairperson Tafadzwa Musarara who accused the lawmaker of bullying him out of a grain transportation deal.

The GMAZ boss recently mounted a High Court application against Wadyajena, who is also the parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands chairperson, complaining that the MP illegally grabbed his association’s business opportunity.

association chairperson also submitted that, in elbowing him out, Wadyajena exhibited “his interests in the cause of bias, malice or corruption in the manner he conducted himself throughout the proceedings”.

Wadyajena’s committee ordered an inquiry into the use of US$28,2 million availed to GMAZ by government for wheat imports and with resolutions presented before Parliament in May 2020.

GMAZ wants that resolutions set aside on that grounds that they were unconstitutional.

Musarara also said the  association was not given an opportunity to clear themselves on the issue of the US$28,2 million, adding that Wadyajena even tarnished him on social media.

But Wadyajena hit back, stating that Parliament had the privilege to act in a manner it did.

“In any event, the relief sought interferes with the oversight role of Parliament in violation of the principle of separation of powers, hence it is incompetent for the applicants to seek such an order,” he said.

GMAZ is the first applicant in the matter, while Drotsky (Private) Limited and Musarara are second and third respondents respectively.

Wadyajena urged the court to dismiss Musarara’s application on grounds that it was filed out of time.

“Musarara and his legal team chose to abstain from the meeting,” the legislator argued.

“In view of this, the contention by the applicants that they were not afforded adequate opportunity to give evidence does not hold water.”

Wadyajena said Musarara still has an opportunity to defend himself before the court.

Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, also gave his response, stating that everything done in the House was above board.

“The proceedings which took place before the first and third respondents are immune from any scrutiny by this honourable court or any other person outside Parliament in terms of section 5 (1) of the Powers of Parliament Act, chapter 2:08 and Parliament had authority to investigate and interview the applicants through its Committee to determine the fate of the public funds in the sum of US$28,2 million, which were disbursed to the first applicant for wheat imports by the ministry of Finance through the RBZ.”

Mudenda said Parliament has a constitutional mandate to find out whether such funds were used for the intended purpose.

Soldier In Soup Over Fraud

By A Correspondent-A Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer was Monday dragged before the Harare magistrates courts, answering allegations of fraud after he allegedly sold an unregistered Mercedes-Benz.

Desire Tawanda Mubaiwa appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded him to August 4, 2022.

Allegations are that on July 20, 2020 at One Commando, Mubaiwa sold a Mercedes-Benz to one Method Mujinga.

Mujinga later sold the vehicle to a Donald Isheanesu Muzenda in a swap and top-up deal on September 15 2020.

That same year, the vehicle was taken by the police because it was not registered and the owner at that time was asked to register it properly.

Upon engaging the seller, police discovered that the vehicle was fraudulently registered by Mubaiwa.

The vehicle was taken by the police for further investigations into how it ended up being registered yet it was not in the CVR system.

According to court papers, Mujinga suffered a prejudice of US$2 400.

Former Top Diplomat Dies

By- President Emerson Mnangagwa has announced the death of former Zimbabwe Ambassador to African Union, Dr. Andrew Mtetwa.

Dr served as the Ambassador to Belgium, South Africa and Zambia.

In a statement, Mnangagwa said the Government had extended a state-assisted funeral to Mtetwa, who died on 3 July.

Reads the statement issued by the department of presidential communications in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC):

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT, DR E.D. MNANGAGWA, FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF AMBASSADOR ANDREW HAMA MTETWA, HARARE, 4TH JULY, 2022

I learnt with deep grief and a sense of loss the passing on yesterday morning of one of our veteran ambassadors in the foreign service, Ambassador Andrew Hama Mtetwa. An eminent scholar and historian, the late Ambassador Mtetwa belonged to the pioneering crop of black Zimbabweans who joined the civil service in the early years of our Independence in the 80s. They were our change agents upon whom we relied to transform a predominantly white minority-dominated civil service in order to give it a new look reflecting the majority dispensation under the First Republic. In the case of the late departed, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Under Secretary and rose through the ranks to ultimately head the Ministry as permanent secretary. In that capacity, he played a critical role in shaping and defining our country’s foreign policy. He will be remembered for his diligence and hard work as one of our longest-serving career diplomats who advanced and defended our national interests at the various stations he served as our ambassador, including at the African Union. On retirement from the diplomatic service, he continued to share the knowledge he had acquired in the foreign service as a lecturer in diplomacy at the then Zimbabwe Defence College, now National Defence University. At the time of his demise, he had just been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute. Our Nation is all the poorer with his passing on.

In recognition of his long, outstanding and loyal service to Zimbabwe, I have granted the late Ambassador a State-assisted funeral.

On behalf of Government, and indeed on my behalf, I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Mtetwa Family following the loss of the dear departed. May they take comfort from the knowledge that their loss is shared by our Nation in whose service he gave his utmost.

May his dear soul rest in eternal peace.

Zanu PF Has Corrupted Liberation War Ideology

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC has a mandate to safeguard the expectations and promises of the liberation struggle, President Nelson Chamisa has said.

Zanu PF has monopolized and corrupted the liberation war ideology over the past four decades.

“DEFENDING & SAFEGUARDING THE VALUES OF THE LIBERATION STRUGGLE…We will give true meaning to the liberation idea,” President Chamisa wrote on Twitter.

He added:
“LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE WASTED IN QUARRELS, HURTS, FIGHTS, DIVISIONS AND VIOLATIONS OF EACH OTHER.

FREEDOM unleashes human ingenuity & creativity.

War Breaks Out Among Perrance Shiri’s Surviving Kids

The late Perrance Shiri

One of national hero Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri’s children has hauled her siblings to the High Court demanding that they undergo DNA test to ascertain whether they are his biological off-springs before they benefit from his estate.

Tanaka Musvamhiri wants Rufaro Stephanie Shiri and Tawanda Zulu to undergo DNA tests to ascertain whether they were the late hero’s biological children before they benefitted from the estate.

Musvamhiri wants the two to visit National Blood Services of Zimbabwe within seven days.

In summons prepared by Mr Arshiel Mugiya of Mugiya and Muvhami Law Chambers and filed at High Court, Musvamhiri claims that she has since undertaken the DNA test and it was proved that she was the late national hero’s biological child.

She also claims that the late Air Chief Marshal Shiri disowned the two before his death and also left them in his will.

Musvamhiri cited executor of the estate Sobusa Gula Ndebele, Tatenda Shiri, Cynthia Shiri and the Master of the High Court as other defendants.

“The 2nd and 3rd (Rufaro Stephanie Shiri and Tawanda Zulu) defendants are compelled within 7 days from the day that this order is granted to submit themselves at National Blood Services of Zimbabwe in order for blood samples to be extracted from them and undergo DNA tests to verify whether or not they were related to the late Perrance Benjamin Chikerema Shiri,” reads part of the summons.

Musvamhiri, in her founding affidavit claimed that the late Air Marshal Shiri acknowledged in his will that Tatenda Shiri and Cynthia Shiri were his biological children.

“The late Perrence Benjamin Chikerema Shiri died on 29 day of July 2020 and in his will listed 4 and 5 defendants as his biological children and beneficiaries to his estate, the plaintiff (Musvamhiri), 2nd and 3rd defendant were not listed as children born by the deceased in the will.

“The plaintiff underwent DNA test by comparing her blood samples with that of her uncle Whiteford Chikerema, a brother and sibling of the deceased and the results confirmed that indeed she is related to the brother of the deceased, thereby confirming that she is the biological daughter of the deceased.

“The second and third defendants are also claiming to be the biological children of the deceased and have listed their names with the first Defendant (estate executor) and the sixth (Master of High Court) defendant as beneficiaries of the Estate late Perrance Benjamin Chikerema Shiri,” she said.

Musvamhiri said in her affidavit that other relatives were also questioning the Rufaro Stephanie Shiri and Tawanda Zulu statuses.

She said Rufaro and Tawanda were refusing to undergo the DNA tests.

“The authenticity and claims of the 2nd and 3rd defendants are being disputed not only by the Plaintiff but other close relatives of the deceased and the deceased in his lifetime disowned the 2nd and 3rd defendants as his biological children

“The 2nd and 3rd defendants have refused in family meetings to undergo these DNA tests insisting that they are children of the deceased even though such claims are being disputed and are questionable and open to doubt,” she said.

Musvamhiri said Rufaro and Tawanda were already enjoying the fruits of the estate, as they are in occupation of some immovable properties and cars that belonged to the estate.

She said she is willing to under-go another DNA test together with the Rufaro and Tawanda in order to bring finality to the question of who should not benefit from the estate.- State Media

Herald Accuses PSMAS Workers’ Committee Leaders | FULL TEXT

Below is a state media printspit accusing the Public Service Association (PSA), Mrs Cecilia Alexandra and the Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Unions (ZCPSTU), Mr David Dzatsunga of being too compromised to lead discussions on Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS).

In the article, the Herald, which never covered the massive looting at the institution that led to its grounding since 1999, bases the accusations on persons it determines are: “insiders.”

The Herald says the leaders are heavily implicated in chaos and maladministration bedevilling the organisation.

State Media: Mrs Alexandra is vice-chairperson of Premier Service Medical Investments, a subsidiary of PSMAS, while Mr Dzatsunga is a committee member on the PSMAS board.

The duo, together with the rest of the other board members stand accused of siphoning money from PSMAS and PSMI respectively through unconventional means and have reportedly colluded with other senior executives to create additional structures beyond the medical aid organisation’s board.

Premier Service Holding Company (PSHC), said the insiders, is an illegally constituted entity as evidenced by its absence from the PSMAS financials in the 2020 and 2021 annual report.

They added that the absence of its financials since its inception in 2019 is a clear indication that this entity was not properly constituted in accordance with the 2015 AGM resolution.

The PSHC is being used to divert members’ funds into other non-core medical activities such as the formation of Claydust — a mining company — and Premier Service Microfinance Company.

According to the deed of trust document, the power to appoint or remove the board of directors will rest with the Holding Company, a scenario which will render other governance structures useless.

“The company shall, in consultation with the Board of Trustees manage the affiliates for an agreed fee between it and the individual affiliates, exercise control of all affiliates including but not limited to, appointing and removing their boards of directors, receive dividend and/ or surplus as the case may be, from all affiliates, render such administrative services as are necessary for the smooth functioning of the Trust,” reads an extract from the deed document.

The deed of trust, as provided in the aborted AGM pack, also clearly spells out that the current board (the Bvirindi board), shall remain in office for a renewable period of three years from the date of registration of Deed of Trust. This obviously is the main reason why this current board is fighting viciously against Government scrutiny.

The Trust comprises of five members who are supposed to have been voted for by members during the cancelled AGM but oddly, no name nor profile of potential candidates were shared even to date.

The holding company will report to a board, appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Holding Company will then appoint board members for the rest of the other entities namely: PSMAS, PSMI, PSMAS (Zambia), Premier Service Microfinance and Claydust.

Members will no longer have power to vote for board members as is the current set up.

Apart from posing governance risks, the introduction of this layer of governance is coming with costs to fund new boards to be appointed by the Holding Company, further straining members’ contributions.

PSMAS board chairman, Dr Bvirindi, PSMI board chairman Colonel Wellington Tutisa and her vice Mrs Alexandra, have further been accused of enjoying benefits way beyond those spelt out in best corporate governance practices.

According to the insiders at PSMI, Mrs Alexandra received a Mercedes Benz E300 (registration number provided).

This vehicle, the insiders elaborated, is being used by his son George Khowa who works in the properties and facilities department. The vehicle is serviced by PSMI, despite the fact that Mr Khowa receives monthly allowances at AA rates to cater for any service expenses he may incur for using his personal vehicle for work-related assignments.

Colonel Tutisa also got a Toyota Fortuner (registration number provided), while at PSMAS, Dr Bvirindi got a Toyota Hilux 2018 Revo Rocco (registration number provided).

The insiders claim that for these and other reasons, the outgoing board will continue defending the establishment of these additional structures.

“This is the reason why they are defending this structure because they know they are set to benefit personally. Their interests have nothing to do with the entire membership but individual greediness. They have been milking the society in board fees and allowances all along and in some instances claiming what is not due to them and they want to continue doing the same without anyone questioning them,” said the insiders.

Defending the board’s position to create other structures beyond PSMAS Board last week, Mrs Alexandra said PSMAS had “grown”.

“Government doesn’t want us to set up a Trust. As you can see, PSMAS has grown. It has properties, it has hospitals, it has a lot of things so it is not just like those other organisations,” said Mrs Alexandra.

Mr Dzatsunga concurred with Alexandra arguing that Government wanted to take over PSMAS, an allegation Government has since dismissed.

Instead, Government has challenged PSMAS to conduct a forensic audit to ascertain utilisation of funds disbursed so far.-Herald

CCC Denounces Hon Chibaya Arrest

Tinashe Sambiri|Torture and intimidation of perceived Zanu PF opponents will not stop the people’s struggle.

This was said by CCC deputy spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba.

Siziba condemned the arrest of CCC organising secretary Hon Amos Chibaya.

Hon Chibaya was arrested on Monday morning for allegedly ocnvening a meeting in April without seeking police approval.

“We are witnessing a pattern of unrelenting assault on the Citizens movement after the arrest of Hon Sikhala, Hon Sithole and 11 others.

The State is in panic mode and has resorted to its fascist default mode of using fear, torture arrest and killing as weapons against the opposition.

It’s going to get darker before dawn and we will forge ahead until Zimbabwe is free,” said Siziba.

In a statement on Monday, CCC Namibia condemned the arrest of Hon Chibaya.

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia castigates the arbitrary arrest of the vibrant International Organiser, Hon Amos Chibaya.

04 July 2022

Citizens who subscribe to the able leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa castigate the perpetual torture, intimidation, and gross violations of human freedoms in Zimbabwe. It is quite infuriating to receive the sad and frustrating news about the illegal arrest of the organic Organiser Hon Amos Chibaya today in Gweru.

Our message to Mr. Emmerson is very clear! No amount of arbitrary arrests and long pre-trial detentions shall deter change champions from mobilizing citizens to register to vote in 2023. It is now imperative to change champions to amplify their revolutionary voices against the selective application of the law by the desperate and clueless regime.

The people of Zimbabwe must rise to the occasion demanding the immediate release of Hon Amos Chibaya, Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, The Nyatsime 13, and The Chimanimani 3 who are enduring incarceration for all of us.

We also hear that Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is not feeling well at Chikurubi Maximum Prison where he is unconstitutionally detained for demanding justice for Moreblessing Ali. Namibia district urges ZANU-PF to release all prisoners of conscience. Hon Amos Chibaya was arrested facing charges of convening an illegal meeting sometime in April, this is an attempt to silence him. Citizens should peacefully pent up their outrage by advocating for the unconditional release of our change champions. Citizens in Namibia wish Hon Sikhala a quick recovery so that he can continue fighting for freedom in the fatherland.

Discharge our innocent ambassadors for socioeconomic transfiguration who are suffering to usher in a New Great Zimbabwe where the rule of law and constitutionalism will be guaranteed. We shall continue to put political and diplomatic pressure on the satanic regime to free our change champions. Amos Chibaya, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, and all prisoners of conscience are innocent. The regime is panicking that is why they are trying to close the democratic space ahead of the 2023 harmonized elections.

Mashwede Hit By Fake Robbery

2 Mashwede Holdings employees were yesterday convicted of stealing fuel coupons worth nearly US$17 000 and faking an armed robbery to cover up.
Edson Mashamhanda, who was a book-keeper and Ernest Nevanji Madanhire an ICT officer, were convicted of fraud by Harare magistrate Mrs Evelyn Mashavirakure after a full trial.

They are expected back in court today for their submissions in mitigation and sentence.

The State led by Mr Moses Mapanga told the court that the two were first offenders with no records of previous convictions.

Mr Mapanga proved during trial that in March 2020, Mashwede Holdings fuel coupons printer, Laptime Design and Print, printed 40 000 petrol coupons which were collected by Madanhire.

Madanhire then hooked up with Mashamhanda and hatched a plan to dupe their employer. On March 11, 2020 Mashamhanda declared to the accounts department that he had received 17 000 litres worth of petrol coupons from Madanhire.

On March 24, Madanhire sold another 6 000 litres of fuel coupons for US$7 500, which he acknowledged receipt and Mashamhanda deducted US$600 as commission and handed him US$6 900. No funds were remitted to the company, which owned the coupons, and recorded into Mashwede’s books.

April 4, 2020, an armed robber pounced on Mashwede Holdings’ premises where money and fuel coupons and other property was stolen.

Mashamhanda and Madanhire, then decided to report that the coupons they had taken earlier, the 17 000 litres, would be added to those coupons stolen by the robbers, taking the total to 23 000 litres had been stolen.

Mashwede Holdings carried out a stock reconciliation to establish how many coupons had been stolen and revealed that Mashamhanda was in custody of 11 240 litres of fuel coupons.

Out of caution, Mashwede Holdings notified fuel attendants not to accept fuel coupons stolen during the robbery.

On April 8, 2020 a client David Clinton went to Mashwede service station to redeem fuel coupons purchased from Madanhire on March 24, 2020, well before the robbery.

Further investigations at Mashwede Holdings revealed that the two had failed to declare fuel coupons worth 3 000 litres tat were collected from the printers

It was also revealed that they had sold 6 000 litres worth of fuel coupons to David Clinton’s companies with 3 000 litres having not been declared.

On March 23, 2020 Mashamhanda received US$2 050 from Muvengwa Changamire from the sale of fuel coupons from previous debtors.

Mashamhanda only recorded the money in Muvengwa Changamire’s debtors’ book, failed to record it in the company books and converted the proceeds to his own use.

He received US$1 000 cash from Changamire from sale of 1 000 litres of fuel coupons, which money he converted to own use. About 760 litres sold at US$1,15 a litre and redeemed well before the robbery was not recorded and they were valued at US$874.

Further investigations revealed that the company had been defrauded of a total of US$16 850. Herald

Mnangagwa To Return To Zambia After Losing Polls

Tinashe Sambiri|
Outspoken Zimbabwean philanthropist Susan Mutami has said Emmerson Mnangagwa is a sex pervert.

Last week Mutami revealed Mnangagwa’s bedroom secrets.

Road Safety Affects Everyone

The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomes the political declaration to be adopted by Member States during the High-level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on Global Road Safety.

It commits to cut road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030, a milestone for road safety and sustainable mobility.

The meeting takes place on 30 June – 1 July 2022 under the theme “The 2030 horizon for road safety: securing a decade of action and delivery”.

Road safety affects everyone. We step from our homes every day onto roads that take us to our jobs, schools and to meet our vital daily needs.

Yet our transport systems remain far too dangerous. No death should be acceptable on our roads. The future of mobility should promote health and well-being, protect the environment and benefit all,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO. “It will require transformative leadership from the highest levels of government to act on the Political Declaration to make that vision a reality.”

Worldwide, road crashes currently kill around 1.3 million people each year – more than 2 every minute, and more than 90% occur in low- and middle-income countries. Crashes are the biggest killer of children and young people globally.

More than 50 million people have died on the world’s roads since the invention of the automobile, more than the number of deaths in the First World War or in some of the worst global epidemics.

WHO is the lead agency for road safety in the United Nations and supported the President of the UN General Assembly in preparing this High-Level Meeting in collaboration with other UN agencies.

Through the declaration governments from around the world commit to provide leadership and coordination at the highest level of government to ensure all parts of the society are included to act on road safety and commit to boost policies and actions to reduce deaths and injuries. The declaration calls for the development and funding of national and local plans with clear targets and funding.

“Road traffic deaths upend countless lives and cost countries around 3% of GDP each year,” notes Dr Etienne Krug, Director of the Department for Social Determinants of Health, WHO. “This is an unacceptable price to pay for mobility. Putting safety at the heart of our mobility systems is an urgent health, economic and moral imperative. Let’s work together to scale up what works, save lives and build streets for life.”

In September 2020, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to proclaim the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030. WHO and the UN regional commissions, in cooperation with other partners in the UN Road Safety Collaboration, have developed a Global Plan for the Decade of Action, which was released in October 2021.

The plan calls for continued improvements in the design of roads and vehicles, enhancement of laws and law enforcement, and provision of timely, life-saving emergency care for the injured. In addition, it promotes healthy and environmentally sound modes of transport.

It also highlights that responsibility for road safety stretches far beyond health and transport. Urban planners and engineers must prioritize safety as a core value in all transport infrastructure while businesses can influence and contribute to strengthening road safety by applying safety-first principles to their entire value chains.

Countries and cities guided by the plan are seeing dramatic reductions in deaths. For example, the Colombian capital of Bogota halved deaths over 10 years through a set of integrated actions, including wide-ranging technical improvements and regulatory reforms that were driven by strong leadership.

Tinashe Sambiri| CCC Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has called for the immediate release of Hon Job Sikhala, Hon Godfrey Sithole and Nyatsime party members.

Even the worst of dictators are afraid of mass action.

We, the citizens can stop this madness,” said Chuma.

Khupe Throws Mwonzora Under The Bus Mobilises Support For Chamisa

By-Former Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, said Zimbabweans should resoundingly vote for CCC in the next year’s elections.

Khupe said Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was the only game in town.

Khupe made the remarks recently while addressing CCC supporters during the by-election victory celebrations for Nkulumane legislator Kucaca Phulu in Bulawayo. Khupe said:

We are also proud of our party, CCC, in that on March 26, it contested polls when it was just two months old but it clobbered a party which had been in existence for five decades.

Out of the 28 parliamentary seats, CCC got 19 and ZANU-PF got only nine. Out of 105 Council seats, CCC won 75 and ZANU-PF got only 22. This shows that CCC is the only game in town.

Khupe challenged voters to vote for CCC in large numbers to ensure that the party forms the next government. She said:

What is also important is that yes, we went to vote on March 26 and voted in our MP, (Kucaca) Phulu, and voted in our councillor (Earnest) Rafamoyo, what remains is that the puzzle is not complete.

Come 2023 we must complete the puzzle. The puzzle is only going to be completed when Chamisa goes to the State House.

For now, if Phulu goes to Parliament to represent you, who will he talk to since his president is not at the State House?

The same applies to Rafamoyo, even if he goes to Council, who will he talk to since his president is not at the State House?

Badala, come 2023 as Nkulumane we must generate more than 25, 000 votes for Chamisa to go to the State House.

FC Wangu Mazodze Triumph As Masvingo United Drop Points

FC Wangu Mazodze win as Una Una drop points

During the weekend our two Masvingo’s biggest soccer clubs played their games at home in our traditional local home of soccer Mucheke stadium. Before the games there was much talks as some doubting Thomases discredited the FC Wangu Mazodze team which however proved otherwise. The prophets of doom many of them jealousy of the flamboyance and we’ll organized nature of the Wangu Mazodze club whose way of operations are beyond some premier League teams. The 3-0 win against Zaka Academy yesterday boosted the team’ s morale and is most likely to roar after a well margined win. Two goals were scored by the all time in form star KODE while Guidance got on target for the other goal. Man of the Mac jersey number 6 killed the Zaka Academy game plan. It is not by lucky but determination ,sacrifice and commitment from 13 th player that is the Mazodze supporters who are very strong enough even if the team goes through bad phases in performance.

Powered by its VP Mrs Mazodze the team enjoys much support from ladies as it is well know in societies that women’s voice have power and won’t lose any battle in any contest or court. It is this recognition and respect of Women in the world’s beautiful game soccer that has earned Wangu Mazodze a marvelous support base.

Meanwhile the Ghetto Seasoned community team Masvingo United avoided a loses as they drew all nil against Chiredzi stars. Masvingo United has previously played well however our fellow Wezhiras has just been unlucky. Also to be noted of are the bonafide Una Una supporters whose love and support for the club is unconditional and has been consistent despite financial constraints. One is knocked upon his heart as you hear the drums played near Father’s Bar at Mucheke Rank as Una Una supporters sing and dance as early as possible on match day. By Saturday midday the ecstatic mood was already all over the Rank with Una Una singing drumming and dancing for their team. It’s now an interesting moment for Masvingo Soccer lovers whose community now has two competitive teams. Let’s keep up the spirit anaWezhira rovai bhora and let’s shun violence and hate speech we are one family

CCC Invades Bikita West

04 July 2022

…So long a narration…..

By Timoth Muswere

Amazing “Fare thee Will ” for Gogo Gutuza as CCC Invades Bikita West

There was a consoling ,yet memorable event in Bikita west on Sunday 03 July 2022. It was a Memorial service and tobstone unveiling for champion Gogo Gutuza who is also mother to Change Champion Gutuza. Even on her funeral the atmospheric nature has always been in a Change memorable manner.

Gogo Gutuza at her age had a passion for a better Great New Zimbabwe for the younger generation to prosper. This sense of humour is what lacks in the Zanu of counter parts where the elderly are biased to be the sole leaders of this country yet the young generation in the mould of President Chamisa have a girraffe binocularly vision which will sustain the future generation.

Several respected Change Champions were in attendance with a notable fleet of cars which drove drove several places and mainly Masvingo Urban to Remember and respect the life of a heroine.

The Zion Apostolic Church was a marvel to watch as they took the over thousand crowd by storm. The Gaza and Mukondo dancing routines were electric and energetic. The drum and hoshos left everyone in putting his dancing shoes and and swallowed his voice into song and dance.

Also present was our respected local media house Masvingo Mirror who were kept busy all day with ecstatic scenes and moments around the place.

During the way to Masvingo some few Zanu pf activists nearly got their violent demon manifesting as the Masvingo team stoped over for recess at Nyika growth point living out the place in Change mood. Indeed Gogo Gutuza will forever be remembered for her works.

DeMbare Struggle To Find Missing Rhythm

Dynamos FC fans

One win and three goals scored. That is the story of Dynamos in the last five matches.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s charges were at the summit of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer heading into the ‘Battle of Zimbabwe’ against Highlanders on May 15.

Five games later, they are now third on the table and five points adrift of resurgent FC Platinum.

Interestingly, the 3-0 demolition of ailing crosstown rivals CAPS United, is the only time DeMbare have scored, in their last five outings.

Even the return from suspension of highly-rated winger Bill Antonio, has failed to add the much-needed impetus to the DeMbare attack.

During yesterday’s goalless draw with Triangle at the National Sports Stadium, the ever-demanding Dynamos fans sang songs reminding Ndiraya of their displeasure at how the team is loosing ground in the title race, but the coach appealed for patience.

“If you look where we are coming from, we just have to be happy that our team has progressed this far, I feel we are progressing,” Ndiraya said after the game.

He added: “That is one thing that I’m really happy about. Sometimes when the team is expected to win and it does turn out that way, fans are expected to react that way, but what is important is where we are and where we want to go.”

While the title race is a long marathon, Dynamos’s goal ratio will worry anyone hoping for them to end their seven-year wait for league glory.

They have scored 20 goals in 19 matches this season, while log leaders FC Platinum have notched 31, with second-placed Chicken Inn having 26.

DeMbare will play both Platinum and Chicken Inn in the next three weeks.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

CAF Pushes AFCON 2023 To 2024

Caf President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the 2023 Afcon will be played at the start of 2024.

The biennial tournament was supposed to happen between June and July 2023 after the end of of the club competition season.

But because of the rainy season in the host nation Ivory Coast, which is at its worst in June-July, the next edition will happen during between January-February 2024 period.

Motsepe announced the new dates at the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.

This is the second time CAF has been forced to shift the dates for the tournament.

The continental body pushed the 2021 Afcon finals to January 2022 because Cameroon was unable to host the competition in the June-July period because of the rainy season.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will not be at the 2023 Afcon following a FIFA ban that came into place in March.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Ronaldo Eager To Leave Old Trafford

Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford due to concerns he will be unable to compete for the biggest trophies at the club.

United will be playing in the Europa League next season after finishing 6th in the EPL, and the Portugal international has never played in that competition before.

The striker is also concerned that the club could fail to reinforce the squad with meaningful signings in the current transfer window.

Thirteen players have left the team this pre-season, but none have yet arrived.

And now, according to Sky Sports, United has ignored Ronaldo’s request and insisted that he is not for sale.

The Red Devils also expect the 38-year-old to see out the remainder of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2023.

Meanwhile, coach Erik ten Hag wants the bulk of United’s transfer business to be completed before the squad flies out for their pre-season tour on July 8.

The Manchester side is facing difficulties in their quest to sign their targets including Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Brentford’s Christian Eriksen is still weighing his options, while a deal for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia is yet to be completed.

Talks are still ongoing with Ajax over the transfer of forward Antony, but defender Jurrien Timber is expected to remain at the Dutch champions.

Timber, who can also operate at right-back, was on a shortlist of the Red Devils’ defensive targets.-Soccer24 Zimbabwe

We Have Mandate To Safeguard Liberation Dream – President Chamisa

LOVE beautifies human life.

TOLERANCE rewards human diversity.”

Cotton Farmers Pile Misery On Cottco Bosses

By A Correspondent| Cotton Farmers have piled more misery on the underfire COTTCO boss Maxmore Njanji after petitioning the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) complaining over his alleged abuse of office.

In a letter to ZACC gleaned by ZimEye, Cotton Farmers said they were concerned that the company has not paid them for cotton produce delivered 18 months ago while Njanji affords to splash funds on personal political projects.

“It is a matter of public record, Madam Chair that payments to Cotton farmers have been painfully slow and in some instances made in form of barter trade. We have been sending our Cotton to COTTCO religiously but we have not been paid for the Cotton in over 18 months but Cottco Managers can afford to splash funds on personal political projects,” reads part of the Cotton farmers letter.

The Cotton farmers accused Njanji of using his seniority at the parastatal to grab 2200 knapsack sprayers, 300 bicycles and 20 motorbikes which he distributed to people aligned to him.

“We understand and appreciate the work done by President and we appreciate the Cotton farming inputs are being used for personal political ambitions and are being distributed to those who are aligned to Njanji,” further reads the petition.

Njanji and Cottco Managing Director, one Manamike were arrested last week and were due to appear in court on charges of abuse of office.

Hands Off Traditional Leaders, Zanu PF Told

Citizens should resist the gross abuse of traditional leaders, CCC Namibia posits!

03 July 2022

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia urges Zimbabweans to wake up and smell the coffee. We cannot continue watching ZANU-PF thugs terrorizing our poor villagers and traditional leaders. These archaic models of intimidation and gross abuse of human rights across the breadths and lengths of Zimbabwe should be resisted now!

We are quite aware that the liberation war agenda was One-Man-One-Vote. Citizens must demand freedom of expression and should be allowed to vote freely without persecution by prosecution. We are demanding free, fair, and credible elections that are unfettered. Heads Man and Village Heads are not instruments of the Harare Regime, ZANU-PF must desist from frog-marching citizens to their rallies. The sinking and the stinking regime should start to respect the rule of law and constitutionalism in the motherland. Our successive elections have presented astronomical figures for assisted voters, especially in rural areas.

Citizens in Namibia encourage change champions across the globe to amplify their voices against the ongoing rural and urban intimidation, torture, and arbitrary arrests of social transformers led by Advocate President Nelson Chamisa. It is our revolutionary obligation to solicit freedoms and independence by choosing leaders who can put the economy on a sounder footing. Right now we have the Nyatsime 13, who are rotting in jail for demanding justice for the butchered Citizens Coalition for Change activist, Moreblessing Ali. We demand their unconditional release, their denial of bail is an abuse of the 2013 Constitution.

Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, and other prisoners of conscience did not commit a crime but are being punished for advocating for justice. Citizens should not allow this to continue as we move forward toward 2023 harmonized elections. ZANU-PF should not be allowed to continue with its old tactics of political violence before, during, and after elections. The recent by-elections claimed many revolutionary souls in the names of Mboneni Ncube, Nyasha Zhambe, Langelihle Dube, Chinembiri and Moreblessing Ali only to mention but a few, may their souls rest in power.

The capture of state institutions by the desperate regime must be resisted without delay. Let’s organize or risk a humiliating setback, as usual, the abuse of traditional leaders and villagers should be stopped now before our people are put on mute. We resolved that 2022 be a year of Citizens Action for Change! We need to act for comprehensive reforms toward the 2023 elections. The vibrant party should look into the solutions to curb ZANU-PF political violence as indicated by the recent by-elections where many lost their lives with some surviving with severe injuries. Shall we continue like this change champions?

How are we going to counter the culture of assisted voters with professionals and literate villagers compelled to be assisted , in the case of Mutasa Central Ward 15? We need to device mechanisms to address this rigging. Action is needed directly to put an abrupt end to the absolete rigging machinations. The video below is a testament to ZANU-PF’s craving to continue with repression to silence the voice of dissent.

CCC Confronts Mnangagwa Regime Over Chibaya Arrest

Is Mnangagwa Zambian?

Tinashe Sambiri|
Outspoken Zimbabwean philanthropist Susan Mutami has said Emmerson Mnangagwa is a sex pervert.

Last week Mutami revealed Mnangagwa’s bedroom secrets.

According to the controversial businesswoman, Mnangagwa is originally from the Republic of Zambia.

“Honai macitizens zvanga zvatomubata ari pa parade anga akutoda kukecha mwana wevaridzi…

@HHichilema
please be prepared to welcome ur citizen
@edmnangagwa
w all his wives and children back home in 2023. Zimbabweans have had enough and there’s no need to send someone to pick him up. Temba Mliswa will carry his bags for him and accompany him to Mumbwa village…

… Zambians are good people and I know the actions of one is not a true reflection of the whole loving nation of Zambia. Zimbabweans are finally going to take their country back and you can have ur son of the soil,” Mutami postulated.

Sabhukus Are Not Zanu PF Commissars

LOVE beautifies human life.

PEACE illuminates human existence.
FREEDOM unleashes human ingenuity & creativity.
TOLERANCE rewards human diversity.”

BREAKING: Amos Chibaya Arrested

By A Correspondent | Citizens Coalition For Change, Organising Secretary Amos Chibaya has been arrested.

Amos Chibaya

Charges against Chibaya are over contravening Section 7(5) of the Maintenance of Peace Act where it is alleged that “on 30 April 2022 and at Gwindigwi mountains, Charandura you addressed a CCC meeting without notifying the regulatory authority…,” according to the charge sheet.

Commenting on the development, CCC Deputy Spokesperson Ostallos Siziba told ZimEye:

“We are witnessing a pattern of unrelenting assault on the Citizens movement after the arrest of Hon Sikhala, Sithole and 11 others.

“The state is in panic mode and has resorted to its fascist default mode of use fear, torture arrest and killing as weapons against the opposition.

“It’s going to get darker before dawn and we will forge ahead until Zimbabwe is free.”

Graveyard Mining Irks Villagers

By A Correspondent- Ntola villagers in Umzingwane, Matabeleland South are furious after gold mining company, Heywood Mining pegged claims in graveyards, at a school and their farming land.

Villagers are accusing traditional leaders of being complicit in the parcelling out of mining claims on their land to the miner.

 village who requested anonymity said:

“We are saddened by the fact that our Chief had a meeting at Cresta Churchill Hotel with the miner on Saturday last week. He informed us that he was sent by the miner to apologise on their behalf and that they wish to have a positive relationship with the villagers.

“It raises eyebrows to learn that our Chief seems to be in agreement with the miner. He told us that the miner will continue mining despite our disapproval. We are the villagers who are affected, the matter was supposed to be discussed in our midst.”

Matabeleland South mining director, Khumbulani Mlangeni confirmed the misunderstandings between the villagers and miner.

“The issue was reported and there is a pending multi-stakeholder visit,” Mlangeni said.

Mzinyathini Chief Stanley Gwebu said after the community had started illegally mining for gold in the area it enticed the Heywood miner to seek permission to mine the area.

“I had a meeting with the traditional leaders in the community who disagreed with the miner to conduct activities at Ntola village,” Gwebu said.

“The miner had wished to engage the people, but bringing the two parties might be a grave mistake because they are not willing to compromise on the issue.” The mining company officials could not be reached for comment.

ZEC Alters Voters Roll To ‘Correct Errors’

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has altered the voters roll for various constituencies and wards in a move meant to correct errors.

This comes after a number of civic society groups and opposition political parties complained about anomalies on the voters roll.

In a Government Gazette dated July 1, Zec chief elections officer, Utoile Silaigwana said the alteration was meant to fix errors.

“It is hereby notified in terms of section 35(2) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has altered the voters roll for the constituencies and wards listed to correct errors contained therein …” Silaigwana said.

“By the means of this notice, notification is made to any voter whose name appears in the first schedule who may have an objection to the alteration/correction to lodge an objection at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Mahachi Quantum or at respective commission provincial and district offices to the inclusion of his or her name not later than seven days from the date of publication of this notice.”

Election Resource Centre (ERC) programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu said they had been calling on Zec to update the voters roll regularly.

“The ERC has for long called on the voters roll to be updated regularly as one of the means to restore voters and stakeholders” confidence in Zimbabwean elections,” he said.

“The intention must be to achieve an almost up-to-date/current voters roll in line with the principle of currency of the roll. We welcome the development and would further call on Zec to share data.”

Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has proclaimed a by-election in the Gokwe-Kabuyuni constituency which became vacant following the death of Leonard Chikomba.

The nomination court will sit on July 22, while the election will be held on August 27, 2022.

Central Gvt Behind Poor Infrastructure

By A Correspondent- Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume has accused the central government of interfering with the affairs of the local government authority saying that has crippled the local authority’s capacity to improve infrastructure.

Mafume who is also a Councillor for the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) made the remarks after President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for local authorities to improve infrastructure development.

Mnangagwa said at the official opening of Highlands Park last week:

I exhort the City of Harare to improve the infrastructure along development corridors, while at the same time enhancing access to water, refuse collection and upgrading the road network, among others.

Mafume, however, said local authorities were hamstrung by government interference. NewsDay cites him as saying:

We cannot improve in infrastructure development as Harare because they have taken all the revenue streams that belong to the City of Harare.

Even on devolution funds, they gave ZWL$73 million out of the budget exceeding ZWL$2 billion.

The little money we have, they are allocating that money on buying expensive fire trucks and expensive contracts that will not help the City.

Budget allocation should come to the City so that we prioritise infrastructure. We should have a situation where the City sets up the priorities.

The central government has often denied reports of interfering saying the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works just plays its oversight role on local government authorities.

Harare Residents Trust (HRT) director Precious Shumba said Mnangagwa’s call should come with adequate funding for local authorities.

The President’s call for the improvement of infrastructure is important.

However, for this to happen, local authorities including the City of Harare should be allocated significant grants to undertake major infrastructural development projects.

For road projects, the City of Harare should be more transparent in the utilisation of City Parking revenues which should be used in upgrading road and parking infrastructure in the central business district.

Shumba said the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) should develop a predictable system of funds’ disbursements to local authorities if the desired goal of ensuring service delivery is to be attained.

He added that on their part, local authority governments have not been transparent in the utilisation of other revenues they generate which is “always a major challenge in the implementation of infrastructure development projects.”

Gukurahundist Mnangagwa blocks Nkomo Commemoration Gathering

By-Police in Bulawayo have stopped members of the ZPRA Veterans Association from marching in commemoration of the death of the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo.

The police ordered the war veterans to take off their yellow T-shirts branded with their name and logo.

The war veterans had planned to march from Masotsha Avenue and end at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo statue to commemorate the legacy of the late nationalist and former Vice President who died on 1 July 1999.

The former freedom fighters were stopped by police at Third Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko allegedly because they were conducting an illegal demonstration.

The police claimed their activity was politically motivated and influenced by a certain political party, which also features the yellow colour.

ZPRA Veterans Association Secretary-General, Petros Sibanda, told police that the yellow colour had always been their branding since ZAPU’s inception in 1961.

Sibanda added the Officer Commanding Bulawayo District (the Dispol) had granted them permission to march.

However, police officers on the ground ordered all of them to remove their yellow t-shirts and stop the march.

ZPRA Veterans Association Spokesperson, Buster Magwizi, said the step taken by the police was ‘grossly unfair’. He said:

I am not a coward but we obey the law as Zimbabweans but as ZPRA veterans we no longer have any rights, which have been taken away from us.

The right to demonstrate is a right but here we were not demonstrating but commemorating the day our Commander in Chief passed on.

I sympathise with you a lot because we no longer have freedom in this country anymore if we were ordered to remove our t-shirts and likened to a political party.

We are not a political party and we wore this so that we can be identified in the melee of things. Now how can we do so when we don’t have our own insignia.

It’s very bad in any case, we die the moment we stop talking about things that concern ourselves. If you are not aware you will not be able to do anything else.

Magwizi told CITE that after the event, police revealed that they were also instructed to make sure the veterans removed their yellow t-shirts as that colour was associated with the opposition CCC.

Khupe Hero-Worships Chamisa

By-Former Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, has urged Zimbabweans to rally behind the Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the 2023 general elections, saying the opposition party is “the only game in town”.

Zanu PF Official Dies While Having S*x With Married Woman

MASVINGO – A Zanu PF youth officer’s decomposing body was found in a room at Dewure Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development Camp in Gutu where he died during sex with a married woman.

Justice Garainesu Mawadze at the High Court in Masvingo was told that Pretty Mbikiza (33) ran away after realising that Owen Munyanyi (36) was dead after a steamy sex encounter on May 10, 2021.

The State charged Mbikiza with the murder of her boyfriend Munyanyi. Justice Mawadze after hearing the case however, acquitted her and agreed with her evidence that Munyanyi suddenly felt hot after sex and died immediately afterwards.

It is the State case that Munyanyi and Mbikiza are both married and they stayed in the same village at Noodle Farm, Gutu. Meanwhile Munyanyi was a youth officer who was stationed at the Ministry of Transport Camp located near Dewure River in Gutu.

Mbikiza and her husband used to do piece jobs at Munyanyi’s homestead because he had the means as he was gainfully employed. The court was told that Mbikiza was a friend to Munyanyi’s sister-in-law (brother’s wife) Ratidzai Munyanyi and the latter enticed Mbikiza to fall in love with Munyanyi for financial gain.

Mbikiza told the court that she eventually agreed after a lot of persuasion from Ratidzai who became the go-between who regularly provided a room for the two to have sex at her homestead. All communication between Mbikiza and Munyanyi went through Ratidzai because the former could not communicate directly with Mbikiza as she shared her phone with her husband.

On the fateful day Ratidzai convinced the lovebirds to have more days to themselves and they boarded a bus and went to Dewure where Munyanyi worked. Mbikiza left home on the guise that she was visiting her aunt in Mushayavanhu, Gutu. At Dewure they went to Dewure Business Center which is close to the camp and spend a few hours before they went to the camp.

On arrival they immediately engaged in sex but after a steamy encounter both of them started feeling ‘very hot’. The accused rushed to get a bucket and bathed to cool herself. The deceased asked for the wet towel to place on his chest but died as he was pressing hard the towel on him.

Confused, Mbikiza left immediately and called Ratidzai about what had happened and Ratidzai pressured her not to tell anyone.

The body was discovered a week later and a postmortem by Dr Godfrey Zimbwa of Masvingo Provincial Hospital established that Munyanyi suffered internal bleeding before he died and hence suspected foul play. Munyanyi was buried and Police later picked information that the deceased was last seen at the business center with a woman.

They arrested Mbikiza who was ‘singing’ in court and said everything that happened despite Ratidzai remaining evasive.

Justice Mawadze saw no motive for Mbikiza to kill her boyfriend and described her as a credible source who said everything that happened. He however, said that this was a complex case.https://masvingomirror.com/

FIFA Announces New Refereeing Technology

FIFA has announced that semi-automated offside technology will be used at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar starting on 21 November.

The limb-tracking system-based technology will speed up decision-making around marginal offside calls, easing pressure on the VAR.

The semi-automated offside system was developed with various partners, including Adidas, the Working Group for Innovation Excellence and other technology providers.

The new system relies on unique cameras attached to the roofs of stadiums and creates a 3D animated skeleton of players through 29 data points for each player. The feed is assessed 50 times per second to ensure decisions are correct.

Adidas’ official match ball for Qatar 2022 will have an inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor that aids the camera feed. This sensor, positioned in the centre of the ball, sends ball data to the video operation room 500 times per second, allowing a precise detection of the kick point.

If an attacking player is offside, the tracking system alerts the VAR operator within half a second to validate the proposed decision by manually checking the automatically selected kick point and the automatically created offside line.

After validation, the centre referee receives a message and can blow if he agrees the attacker was interfering with the play.

The 3D animation from the feed will then be shown on the giant screens in the stadium and will also be available to FIFA’s broadcast partners for TV and stream feed.

The workflow of semi-automated offside technology and the connected ball technology have been successfully trialled at numerous test events and live at FIFA tournaments, including the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 and the FIFA Club World Cup 2021.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

About Mental Health And Psychosocial Support?

Climate change poses serious risks to mental health and well-being, concludes a new WHO policy brief, launched today at the Stockholm+50 conference.

The Organization is therefore urging countries to include mental health support in their response to the climate crisis, citing examples where a few pioneering countries have done this effectively.

The findings concur with a recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), published in February this year. The IPPC revealed that rapidly increasing climate change poses a rising threat to mental health and psychosocial well-being; from emotional distress to anxiety, depression, grief, and suicidal behavior.

“The impacts of climate change are increasingly part of our daily lives, and there is very little dedicated mental health support available for people and communities dealing with climate-related hazards and long-term risk,” said Dr Maria Neira, Director of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health at WHO.

The mental health impacts of climate change are unequally distributed with certain groups disproportionately affected depending on factors such as socioeconomic status, gender and age. However, it is clear that climate change affects many of the social determinants that are already leading to massive mental health burdens globally. A 2021 WHO survey of 95 countries found that only 9 have thus far included mental health and psychosocial support in their national health and climate change plans.

“The impact of climate change is compounding the already extremely challenging situation for mental health and mental health services globally. There are nearly 1 billion people living with mental health conditions, yet in low- and middle-income countries, 3 out of 4 do not have access to needed services” said Dévora Kestel, Director of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse at WHO. “By ramping up mental health and psychosocial support within disaster risk reduction and climate action, countries can do more to help protect those most at risk.”

The new WHO policy brief recommends five important approaches for governments to address the mental health impacts of climate change:

integrate climate considerations with mental health programmes;
integrate mental health support with climate action;
build upon global commitments;
develop community-based approaches to reduce vulnerabilities; and
close the large funding gap that exists for mental health and psychosocial support.
“WHO’s Member States have made it very clear mental health is a priority for them. We are working closely with countries to protect people’s physical and mental health from climate threats,” said Dr Diarmid Campbell-Lendrum, WHO climate lead, and an IPCC lead author.

Some good examples exist of how this can be done such as in the Philippines, which has rebuilt and improved its mental health services after the impact of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 or in India, where a national project has scaled up disaster risk reduction in the country while also preparing cities to respond to climate risks and address mental health and psychosocial needs.

The Stockholm Conference commemorates the 50th anniversary of the UN Conference on the Human Environment and recognizes the importance of environmental determinants for both physical and mental health.

Note to editors

WHO defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to her or his community”.

WHO defines mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as “any type of local or outside support that aims to protect or promote psychosocial well-being and/or prevent or treat mental disorder”.

Holy Ten’s Girlfriend Caught-In-The Act

By A Correspondent | The musician Holy Ten’s girlfriend, Kiki, was during the week, caught bribing voters for ZANU PF during the just ended SRC (student representative council) elections at the University of Zimbabwe, multiple reports confirm.

The “I’ve been acting like zvese zviriBho” co-singer, whose real name is Kimberley Richard, was one of those found engaged in the criminal toil of distributing food to 2,000 students so that they can vote for ZANU PF. In the end, ZANU PF’s ZICOSU only managed less than 1,000 votes. The nation’s largest students uninion, ZINASU’s Alan Chipoyi won the presidency with more than 2,000 votes.

“I was disappointed to see Holy Ten’s girlfriend @kikie_x supporting ZANU-PF at UZ on Friday,” wrote ZINASU’s Legal Secretary Boris Muguti.

Muguti continued saying, “She worked tirelessly, distributed food and T-shirts encouraging students to vote for ZANU-PF(ZICOSU) candidates. Such artists should face the wrath of the citizens. Abasha regime enablers!”

Customs Official Disgorged By Prosecutors

A ZIMRA official has been stripped of his properties valued at US$1,1 million including plush mansions in Glen Lorne and Shawasha Hills in Harare, a flat and Mercedes Benz acquired through corrupt means by a Zimra official convicted of fraud in 2018 have now been forfeited to the State by the High Court.
This means Tapiwa Evans Chidemo is not only serving a jail term, but has lost the fortune he acquired when he diverted to his own use VAT refunds meant to be paid to Zimra clients through the Paynet system.

He will come out of jail with nothing.

The National Prosecuting Authority said it has disgorged Chidemo of ill-gotten wealth and with the latest court order, had taken the property belonging to Chidemo who was prosecuted and convicted for misappropriating a total of US$1 119 833,96 from Zimra.

Chidemo was charged with nine counts of fraud and one count of money laundering and found guilty of two counts of fraud and sentenced to six years imprisonment in 2018.

Out of that total, one year was suspended on condition of future good behaviour and another two years were suspended on condition he paid back everything that was stolen.

A precedent will be set when it is decided whether the forced seizure of the property on the application of the National Prosecuting Authority counts as the desired refund or whether Chidemo missed his chance to liquidate his assets and buy two years of freedom and so remains behind bars without the suspension but also without the money.

The suspension of part of a fraud or theft sentence on condition of repayment within a time limit was justified by the High Court judge who introduced it, with full backing from the Supreme Court on appeal, on the basis that if the money had been repaid before the trial this would be taken into account as mitigation when sentence was given.

By offering mitigation in advance, the judge was hoping that criminals would repay. The ruling has become a firm precedent, but this is the first time someone has lost property to a forfeiture order.

Chidemo was a shareholder of Armeline Investments, the vehicle used to buy his property portfolio.

In its statement, the authority said: “The High Court in a judgment delivered on June 29, 2022 upheld the NPA’s application to seize the property.”

The properties in the order are: Stand 215 Glen Lorne Township 8 measuring 4 517 square metres; stand 3036 Shawasha Hills, Glen Lorne; Mercedes Benz C Class 1997; and 2 500 ordinary shares of $2 in Derwent Lodge (Pvt) Ltd giving rights of occupation of flat number 19 Derwent situated at Number 9 Josiah Chinamano Avenue, said the NPA.- State Media

Police Dog Mauls Beitbridge Man’s Private Parts

A Beitbridge man, Proterge Kwangware, narrowly escaped death after a police dog mauled his private parts.

Police officers did not send him to the hospital despite the law stating that people should be treated for dog bites even if the police dog is vaccinated.

The police officers apparently unleashed the dog on Kwangware last Thursday to avenge the assault of a policeman by the suspect.

The issue started as an altercation between Kwangware, a known habitual criminal, with a friend identified as Bright Mapfumo in Dulivhadzimo Township.

An off-duty policeman, Energy Chisora, who was clad in civilian attire, started filming the incident with his mobile phone.

This did not go down well with Kwangware who then slapped Chisora.

Chisora retaliated and the two started exchanging blows but after realising that he was losing the fistfight, the police officer fled to his car with Kwangware in hot pursuit.

Realising that he could be assaulted further, Chisora then produced his police identity card and Kwangware let go and the fight ended.

However, about four days later, police officers kicked open Kwangware’s door while he was in bed with his wife.

The officers unleashed their dog, which mauled him all over his body and his manhood.

Speaking before Beitbridge resident magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba on Friday where he successfully applied for bail, Kwangware said:

I was in bed and did not resist. I was at their mercy but they let their dog have a go at me.

They failed to control it and it even bit my privates. It bit me all over and they failed to control it. I held its jaws apart to avoid further harm.

The State represented by Pithey Magumula had opposed bail saying Kwangware was likely to commit other offences.

Magumula brought to the court’s attention that Kwangware had a pending case and had just finished a community service sentence.

Kwangware faces an assault charge for allegedly beating his friend.

He was also charged with malicious damage to property for allegedly damaging Chisora’s car during their fight.

However, the magistrate granted the suspect $10 000 to allow him to receive the treatment he was denied by police.

Kwangware was asked to come back to court on 14 July.

ZEC Says: We’ve Changed The Voters Roll

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has altered the voters roll for various constituencies and wards in a move meant to correct errors.
This comes after a number of civic society groups and opposition political parties complained about anomalies on the voters roll.

ZEC’s Utoile Silaigwana

-Newsday

Zimbabwe Elections Are Game Of Thuggery And Violence” – Our Fault, “Kurumwa Nechokuchera!

By Patrick Guramatunhu| “Our peace activists say each time an election date is announced, fear grips the communities.

This is not how things must be. Elections must bring joy to citizens that they now have an opportunity again to have their say in how the country is run. In Zimbabwe it brings fear because violence is assured,” stated a ZimRights report.

“Our politics is now an art of war. What political party you support determines if you are going to have access to food and participate in the economy, among other things.

“This state of war is the main reason citizens are withdrawing from public life and women are no longer interested in participating in politics. It has become a game of thuggery.

Without the nerve to violate other people’s rights, you can’t participate in our politics.”
The ZimRight report is aptly titled “Zimbabwe on the Brink: Living in Fragile Peace”.

Sadly, what the report failed to say is this is all self-inflicted. “Kurumwa nechokuchera!” as one would say in Shona!

Of course, we Zimbabweans are responsible for the economic and political mess we find ourselves stuck in.

The late Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs dragged us into this mess. 42 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness have left the country in economic ruins and a pariah state no one would want to do business with.

Now also late Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC fiends had many golden opportunities, notably during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, to implement the democratic reforms which would have ended the Zanu PF dictatorship.

They have not only failed to implement even one token reform but to add insult to injury, they have been participating in these flawed and violent elections to give the Zanu PF regime legitimacy thus perpetuating the Zanu PF dictatorship.

And we, the people, have played our part in this tragedy in failing to stop the Zanu PF dictatorship juggernaut and failing to supervise the corrupt and incompetent MDC.

It is unforgivable that even now with the benefit of hindsight many Zimbabweans out there still have no clue the primary purpose of the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms much less that MDC leaders sold out by failing to implement even one reform.
Indeed, the reason why many Zimbabweans believe in Nelson Chamisa’s oxymoronic nonsense of “winning blatantly rigged elections” stems from their initial failure to recognise MDC leaders for the corrupt, incompetent and sell outs after the GNU.

It is a universally accepted rule of thumb, that nations get the government they deserve. We, in Zimbabwe, have certainly done nothing to deserve anything better than this corrupt, tyrannical and vote rigging Zanu PF dictatorship complete with the coterie, 130 at the last count, of corrupt and utterly useless opposition parties.

Zimbabwe is an independent nation and as of 18 April 1980, we are, per se, masters of our own destiny, masters of our own ship. We had the potential to become the “South Korea of Africa” as Japanese scholar and writer, Ken Yamamoto once noted.

We have become a quintessential failed state, a pariah state, with a filthy rich ruling elite riding roughshod over the filthy poor majority denying them a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life.

At the heart of Zimbabwe’s economic and political mess is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. Of course, Zanu PF does not have the right to rig elections it has blatantly rigged elections since 2013 only because MDC failed to implement the reforms and has participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

It is for the ordinary people of Zimbabwe to wake up to the political reality that MDC/CCC leaders are sell outs and stop following the party into this insanity of participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Deny CCC political credibility and the party’s participation in the flawed elections will not give Zanu PF legitimacy.

We, the ordinary Zimbabwean, can neither stop Zanu PF going ahead with these flawed and violent 2023 elections nor can we stop Nelson Chamisa and his fiendish CCC participating out of selfish greed.

What we can do is deny CCC political credibility and deny Zanu PF political legitimacy.

Caps United End Winless Run

FC Platinum moved to the top of the Castle Lager Premiership table following their convincing victory over Chicken Inn on Saturday.

The Platinum Boys cruised to a 3-0 win at Luveve Stadium, thanks to some top-class first-half performance.

The visitors opened the scoring as early as in the second minute through Walter Musona’s effort. The goal came as a result of poor defending by the Gamecocks.

Musona continued to create more trouble, and he completed his brace at the half-hour mark.

Nomore Chinyere added another one to make it three for the visitors before halftime.

The hosts never showed any real intentions to come back into the game and finished the entire second half chasing shadows.

The game ended with FC Platinum claiming the victory to move two points ahead of the now-second-placed Chicken Inn.

In Harare, CAPS United ended a seven-match winless streak with a 2-1 victory over Harare City.

The Green Machine picked the win courtesy of William Manondo’s brace.

The forward opened the scoring in the 17th minute before completing his brace from the spot in minute 52.

City got their consolation just after the hour through Zorodzai Semure.

In another Castle Lager Premiership match played on Saturday, Black Rhinos edged ten-man Herentals 2-1.

The Students finished the game with a man short following Tinotenda Benza’s straight red card for an off-the-ball incident.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

FIFA Introduces New Refereeing Technology

What Is Mental Health And Psychosocial Support?

The new WHO policy brief recommends five important approaches for governments to address the mental health impacts of climate change:

integrate climate considerations with mental health programmes;
integrate mental health support with climate action;
build upon global commitments;
develop community-based approaches to reduce vulnerabilities; and
close the large funding gap that exists for mental health and psychosocial support.

Zanu PF Activist Dies During Hardcore S*x With Married Woman

Holy Ten’s Girlfriend Caught In The Act, Bribing Voters For ZANU PF At UZ

ZimEye was at pains to get a comment from Kiki, real name Kimberley Richard, at the time of writing.

Over US$300k Frozen In Local Bank Account

By A Correspondent- A Harare man has had some US$300 000 frozen in a local bank after he failed to reveal the identity of the originator of funds as required under the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act (Chapter 9:24).

The law empowers authorities to identify, freeze, seize and eventually confiscate proceeds of all serious crimes and terrorist acts.

Meshack Mudyariwa approached the High Court seeking to have NMB bank unfreeze the money that was deposited into his account in March last year.

Mudyariwa failed to explain the source of the funds prompting NMB to freeze his account in line with the law after realising that it could have been laundered.

The matter has since been reported to the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and the police.

In his application at the High Court, Mudyariwa insisted that NMB Bank was holding his money for no reason, saying the money was legitimate.

However, High Court judge, Justice Jacob Manzunzu, last week ruled the money should remain frozen, saying Mudyariwa had failed to reveal its source. Said the judge:

It will be self-defeating for the respondent while making efforts to comply with the law, to take no action to freeze the account.

What that would practically mean is that the applicant would withdraw all the money, irrespective of the outcome of the investigations.

The matter has been reported to the Intelligence Unit and the police and is said to be under investigation.

It will be inappropriate at this stage to order the respondent to unfreeze the account.

In any event, while the applicant has shown a clear right over the account, and the possible injury he will suffer, he has not shown the absence of an alternative remedy.

An alternative remedy lay with the applicant for the review of the decision taken by the respondent.

Such a remedy gives him similar protection. In any event, had the applicant assisted with the identity of the originator of funds as required by the Act, that will stand as an alternative remedy.

Cameras Are The Solution!

By Kudzai Jacob Mutisi| It is a fact most Zimbabwe’s lack civil sense, when it comes to road usage, on our roads we go by our self-concocted guidelines.

Many make their own lanes or try to squeeze through congestion due to sudden increase in motor vehicles.

Taking care of ever-increasing and complex traffic situations is a challenge for many of Zimbabwe’s major cities, especially Harare.  Zimbabwe’s rising car ownership and urban sprawl continue to put pressure on our roads, leading to some worrying trends.

The Harare city centre should now be considered the world’s most dangerous city and how our harare drivers are meandering in our streets.

With heavy fines as high as US$263 by the Harare Municipal police, Harare’s latest attempt to crack down on the general lawlessness on its potholed, traffic-choked roads has shown some initial results, but there is a need make lasting solutions, which included the good old days of ticketing by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) traffic officers who use to carry the popular Z69 which was the on the spot fine book or the “form 265” which required you to pay your fine within seven days of being issued with a traffic ticket for a traffic offence.

Above that we should however, say thank you to smart and intelligent video solutions that are being used the world over, our government, law enforcement agencies and citizens can address these driving-associated stressors head on.

Today’s advancement in technology can provide Artificial intelligence (AI) powered smart video cameras that can enforce speed limits, safer driving at intersections, emergency response, alleviating traffic congestion and record bad drivers and traffic offenders.Smart video cameras can be set up at roadsides to record the speed of vehicles and keep speeding under control.

These cameras ensure that drivers keep within permitted speed limits, making traffic safer and reducing the possibility of road accidents. Using radar technology, smart video cameras can calculate the average speed between two points along the road or at the location of a camera.

The speed data is associated with each detected licence, and sent to traffic units who can respond immediately.

In other cases, the licence plate number of a speed-violating vehicle is registered, and several weeks later the license plate holder will receive a fine by mail or by SMS on their cellular phone.

Intersections are often scenes of collision owing to driver negligence and recklessness, which is why it is an important location to be considered for smart video solutions.

Modern technology makes it possible to monitor driving behaviour in real time.

This includes drivers driving through red traffic lights, making a U-turn in the middle of the intersection, travelling the wrong way, or using the shoulder to bypass traffic.

With modern technology there has to be a technological connection between law enforcement agencies, emergency response service providers and paramedics.

The sooner emergency responders arrive at the scene of an accident, the lower the risk of fatalities. Smart videos have an automatic incident detection delivery system which allows for rapid response to emergencies, whether motorists require the police, fire service, or paramedics.

By analysing live video streams, information about accidents and traffic violations can be obtained in real time and flagged via  an instant alert to the city’s traffic control centre so that help can be dispatched.

There are now 1,5 million vehicles that traverse the streets of Harare’s central business district on a daily basis according to information availed by the Central Registry Vehicle, Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo has said in 2021.

The road network for Harare was built for only a maximum of 200,000 vehicles and the city is now prone to constant traffic congestion and unnecessary jams.

With smart Video analytics provided these can help identify roads and locations where congestion is most likely to occur.

This helps city authorities determine if the area would benefit from traffic management schemes. Vehicles are counted and classified in real time and the data is compiled into heat maps and dashboards so that cities can take practical steps toward traffic relief.

As long as there are bad drivers, car accidents, traffic congestion, and risky driving behaviours, there is room to improve road conditions.

Smart video cameras, combined with intelligent analytics, can allow the government, law enforcement agencies and citizens to make rapid advancements toward a safer and better driving experience for motorists.

By introducing the smart video cameras on Zimbabwe’s road and re-introducing the “form 265” issued by both the municipal police and the Zimbabwe Republic Police will bring sanity on Zimbabwe’s road

Zim Man Shot Dead In Front Of Own Son

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean man was reportedly shot dead by armed robbers in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, on Wednesday at around 3.30 pm.

Four unknown men, two of whom had their faces covered, allegedly stormed into Mathew Madukufamba’s (50) home and demanded money.

Madukufamba, who was a welder by profession, handed over his keys to the suspects who then shot him in the presence of his wife and a 21-year-old son

The son, Michael Nyoka, said he was working outside and had his earphones on. He said:

Two of the suspects went inside the house and the others were with me outside.

They pulled me away and told me to come with them to get the car keys.

They took my cell phone. When we got to the house, they told us to lie down.

I heard gunshots being fired. When I checked, they had shot my father.

After I heard the gunshots, I was trying to go and get help from the neighbours, but the suspects saw me and one of the suspects who had a gun tried to shoot me, but he missed.

He then grabbed me and asked me where I was going. He demanded more money and I gave him the only R300 I had on me.

They also told my mother to give them money and she gave them R400.

The robbers took two flat-screen televisions and cell phones which they loaded into a backup vehicle.

Nyoka said he ran to call his uncle but when they returned, his father had already passed away.

Madukufamba’s brother, Thomas Nyoka, said they suspect the now-deceased knew one of the attackers who had their faces covered, and that is why they killed him. He said:

The suspects did this intentionally. They must have known enough about our family to pull this off.

How can you just barge into a man’s house in broad daylight and do as you please?

This is heart-breaking since he was the oldest in the family.

As things stand, we don’t know where to start picking up the pieces.

We still can’t believe he is gone. We fear for our lives, but all we need to do is to be strong and allow ourselves to heal from what happened.

You can run, but when it’s your time there’s nothing you can do to change that. We want justice now.

Ward councillor Sibongumusa Zuma said they always ask themselves why criminals proceed to kill victims even after the victims have co-operated with them.

“Let’s Complete The Puzzle In 2023”: Dr Khupe

By A Correspondent- Former Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, has urged Zimbabweans to rally behind the Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the 2023 general elections, saying the opposition party is “the only game in town”.

Man’s Privates Mauled By Police Dog

By A Correspondent- A Beitbridge man is lucky to be alive after he was mauled by a police dog which bit his private parts last Thursday.

Police did not send to hospital the badly injured Proterge Kwangware despite the law stating he should be treated for dog bites even if the police dog is vaccinated.

The incident happened a few months after the Zimbabwe Republic Police paid a whopping $2 million to another Beitbridge resident, who was mauled by dogs in 2021.

For Kwangware, a known habitual criminal, what started as a public fight between him and one Energy Chisora in Dulivhadzimo Township ended with an entire Beitbridge Urban Police Station hunting him down in a mission to avenge.

Kwangware was having an altercation with a friend identified as Bright Mapfumo when an off-duty policeman Chisora in his civilian attire, who appeared just as a passerby, started filming with his mobile phone.

Agitated by the action Kwangware slapped Chisora who retaliated and the two started exchanging blows.

Chisora hit Kwangware with a stone but he realised he was on the receiving end and sprinted to his car with Kwangware hot on his heels.

Sensing a further beating Chisora then produced his police identity card and Kwangware let go and the fight ended.

Some four days later Kwangware said he was in bed with his wife when police kicked open his door and unleashed their dog, which mauled him all over body and his manhood.

“I was in bed and did not resist. I was at their mercy but they let their dog have a go at me.

“They failed to control it and it even bit my privates,” Kwangware told resident magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba as he successfully applied for bail on Friday.

“It bit me all over and they failed to control it. I held it’s jaws apart to avoid further harm.”

Prosecutor Pithey Magumula had opposed bail saying Kwangware was likely to commit other offences since he had a pending case and had just finished a community service sentence.

He faces an assault charge for allegedly beating his friend and malicious damage to property for allegedly damaging Chisora’s car during their fight.

But Gwazemba ruled that he will be admitted to $10 000 to allow him treatment he was denied by police.

Kwangware was asked to come back to court on June 14.-standard

Gvt Clears Air On Compulsory Forex Exam Fees

By A Correspondent- Schools that are pegging examination fees exclusively in foreign currency are flouting regulations set by the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec), as parents and guardians are allowed to make payment using any of the currencies  in use in the country.

Following the announcement that examination fees for this year will be pegged in USD, payable in the local currency equivalent, some schools around the country have been reportedly demanding payment exclusively in hard currency.

According to Zimsec, Grade Seven examination fees will be US$30 for all the subjects, Ordinary Level fees were pegged at US$11 per subject for candidates in public, local authorities-run, and non-profit making schools with the Government paying a subsidy of US$24 while those in private schools and colleges fork out US$24 per subject.

Advanced Level candidates in public and local authority-run schools will pay US$22 per subject with the Government contributing US$26 in subsidy.

Private schools and college candidates shall pay US$48 per subject.

In an interview with Sunday News, Zimsec spokesperson Ms Nicky Dlamini said they had received complaints from parents around the country, as some schools had notified them that they would be accepting USD payments only. Payment of examination fees is supposed to take place between 22 and 29 July.

“Schools cannot force parents to pay in foreign currency. That is not allowed and therefore against the regulations. We have received reports of schools doing this and they are being reprimanded accordingly.

This is where parents have to step up and play a watchdog role so they can alert us when schools are flouting the rules ku and asking them to pay in forex,” she said.

Ms Dlamini said Zimsec had given the go ahead for schools to receive payments in foreign currency for schools that applied, particularly those around border towns who requested for a waiver allowing them to deal in forex.

“After we made the announcement that parents can pay the examination fees at the interbank rate equivalent of the quoted USD amounts, we received a letter from schools in areas like Beitbridge and Lower Chiredzi asking for a waiver that would allow them to pay in hard currency. This is because parents in those areas, use foreign currency on a daily basis and it would be a bit hard for them to get access to RTGS to pay the fees.

So, we have now resolved to allow parents to pay in whatever currency they have access to at that particular time. If they have rands or RTGS they can pay the equivalent of the fee that was gazetted,” she said.

Ms Dlamini said following the new announcement that had officialised the use of foreign currency, schools that collect the money in foreign currency must also remit the same to the examination body.

“So, schools can accept all currencies and we made this regulation in light of the monetary policy resolutions that have been announced by Government recently. However, it is important for schools to also note that, when they receive foreign currency, whether it’s USD or rands, they also have to receipt and also remit to Zimsec in that currency.

We will not allow a situation where schools accept foreign currency from parents but want to remit RTGS. Schools that attempt to do that will be reprimanded and punished,” she said.

Ms Dlamini said that the rate used for registration fees will be announced on 22 July, as a cushion against inflation.

“Since the interbank rate changes weekly, we will announce the rate that will be used. It will be a blanket rate that will apply to all schools. From 22 July to 29 July, we will hold that rate and it will not change so as to allow all parents to pay in an equitable way,” she said.

Ms Dlamini said Zimsec had also received reports of schools setting their own deadlines for payment of exam fees. This, she said, was illegal and against Zimsec regulations.

“We have also heard of schools setting their own deadlines for the payment of fees and we want to make it clear that it is not allowed. Some schools might perhaps say they want to end payments on 25 or 26 July for administration purposes so they remit to Zimsec and that may be understandable, but they have a month to do that.

It is also important to note that registration is not the same as payment. Schools have been allowed to register pupils while they wait for payment which is forthcoming.

Registration serves as a way of helping schools determine just how many pupils, they can expect payment from,” she said.

Police Disrupt Nkomo Commemoration Gathering

By-Police in Bulawayo on Saturday stopped members of the ZPRA Veterans Association from marching in commemoration of the death of the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo.

Mliswa: Govt’s Lost Emancipation To Pleasing Foreigners | FULL TEXT

This is an abridged version of Parliamentary proceedings with a bias towards matters specific to Norton and its representative.

PARLIAMENT OF
ZIMBABWE
Tuesday, 21st June, 2022

The National Assembly met at a Quarter-past Two O’clock p.m.

Hon. T. Mliswa having stood to present a one-minute statement.
THE HON. SPEAKER:  You did not register with me Hon. Mliswa
HON. T. MLISWA:  That is very true.
THE HON. SPEAKER:  You want to take advantage of me by ambushing me.  You may proceed.
HON. T. MLISWA: Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir and good afternoon to you and colleague Members of Parliament.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the panellists at the APNAC Zimbabwe Chapter Capacity Workshop held in Bulawayo for their presentations which were exceptional, informative and certainly refreshing and educating…
THE HON. SPEAKER:  May I intervene?
HON. T. MLISWA: Yes.
THE HON. SPEAKER:  Please take your seat.  I thought this would come under your report.  We need a comprehensive report.
HON. T. MLISWA:  I seek your indulgence.  Yes, Sir.
THE HON. SPEAKER:  Incorporate this in your report.
HON. MLISWA:  Thank you Sir. I stand guided.

HON. T. MLISWA:  Thank you very much Mr. Speaker for allowing me to contribute to the motion moved by Hon. Tongofa, seconded by Hon. Chipato.  It is a very critical subject because the youth are the heart of the nation.  They must be given the priority and attention they deserve.  This report, as in Section 32 of the Constitution, talks about the recreational facilities and sporting facilities which are around and the Constitution is very clear.  The Constitution is very clear; it says ‘they must’.

This is a must, so in a way, we have to be seen to be adhering to the Constitution so that we align with the SDGs of the world that we are part of.  Now, if we cannot respect our own Constitution, how then are we able to really be part of the global world because the global world requires you to follow the Constitution?  So, 32 is very clear.
We have looked at interact centres and the question here is, what is an interact centre?  I saw that the Chairman kept on talking about it.  I do not know if Members in their constituencies are privy to an interact centre.  What is an interact centre?  Interact means, of course talking. They are talking in terms of what, sport, drug rehabilitation, avoiding drugs, what is it?  Are they meeting to interact while drinking beer or what?  Is it where artistes can equally meet and so forth?

So to me, it is a deeper situation, which requires a deep thought and analysis in terms of what needs to be done.  About 60% of the population and over is the youth but where are they in terms of many issues?  We heard of a fact finding mission where they went to a number of places and I do applaud them for doing that because when you go on the ground, you are able to see a true picture of what is on the ground and so forth.  They came to this House to report on the true picture, which in a way is a bit gloomy but again it is not their fault but there also has to be an aspect of certain authorities which control these areas.

As the Chairperson, Hon. Tongofa was saying – he spoke about rural and urban authorities being key to the development of these areas and how serious they are in terms of doing that.  What are the councils doing in resolving that there must be recreational facilities in each ward, in each area, so that people participate?  You will see that the level of corruption has escalated to a point that people do not want even recreational facilities.  Recreational facility is taken away and there is residential development because people want to make money.

Gweru Sports Club is a good example.  If I am not mistaken, they have resolved that it is turned into a residential place or some industrial place.  So where will people then participate in recreational facilities.  I used to play rugby at Gweru Sports Club.  There is tennis court, swimming and so forth.  In terms of the council, rather than raising enough funds to rehabilitate those facilities, they are busy in wanting to sell and resolutions are being made by corrupt people so that they make money.

So, who has the youth at interest, when local authorities themselves are not setting aside money to be able to rehabilitate those facilities?  It is going to cost more to build a new facility but common sense would allow somebody to raise money and rehabilitate the facility, than allowing them to die and build another centre.

The population of Zimbabwe has increased.  How many new recreational facilities outside those built by Rhodesia are there? All these country clubs you see; the recreations you see are a result of Rhodesia having realised that recreation was critical for a man and woman’s body.  It helps your mind.  It helps in a number of issues and so forth.

So we must take stock and say how many recreational facilities have been built by local authorities with the land which is there. It is a Constitutional provision and who is against that Constitutional provision?  Where they have earmarked a school, they put housing there because they are making money.  On wetlands, they have done the same, they put housing.  You now see a scourge of drugs; who is responsible for these drugs?  It is the leaders of today, who have neglected their responsibilities to adhere to the provisions of the Constitution.

Why is the Portfolio Committee on Local Government not calling the councils to give a master plan?  When I got in as a legislator in Norton, I asked for the master plan of Norton.  It had been done; it has to be reviewed from time to time.  I implore all Members of Parliament to go to council and say can I see the master plan of this Constituency.

The master plan is able to give a way forward in terms of all the schools, where are the recreations and with the population growing, are we able to absorb this population from a housing perspective; from social amenities, which are critical.  When I talk about social amenities, I am talking about health centres, schools, recreational facilities. For as long as you are a legislator here and you have not asked for a master plan then you are going blind.

You must be able to ask for that and I asked for it.  I invited people from the University of Zimbabwe and now Norton has a master plan.  We have not yet reviewed the master plan.  When you see the master plan, where there is supposed to be a recreational facility and it is not there, you are able to say where is it?  Now you can bring in ZACC to be able to arrest people because the master plan is talking about a recreational facility but you have built houses.  So why do you build houses where it should be a recreational facility.

There is drug disheartening all over – vana vanotamba kupi?  Imi makakura muchitamba, ko vano tamba kupi?  Because Havana kwekutambira, vanoputa mbanje, vava kutora guka, vava kutora madrugs ese, mutoriro vari kutora.  Tozoti a, icourge yemadrugs. Without realising that recreation is important for them to interact and we knew when we were growing up kuti mwana ari kutamba kwakati.  Vana mai nana baba vaitoziva kuti mwana anotamba nanhingi nanhingi, bhora ropera odzoka kumba.  But today, how do you take stock of your children when they have no recreation facility that you can say, uku tinofanira kunge tichienda tichinovaona ikoko.  Not only that, those recreational facilities were monitored by experts in sport, child care, zvese, even vana kucreche vanenge vachionekwa kuti vari kutamba sei, mabhora ariko…
THE TEMPORARY SPEAKER (HON. MUTOMBA): Hon. Mliswa, may you use one language please?

HON. T. MLISWA: So, to me these were structured in such a way that you would get – there was food.  This is where you would give your son or daughter $1.  With $1 they would get food, drink, water, everything because the council would be able to subsidise.  That is the key word, it is able to subsidise because it is getting rate payers’ money and because they have to explain; for ratepayer money they have to come up with a good package.  To me that is not happening.  Not only that, those facilities are income generating facilities.

Weddings were held there, churches can be there, conventions, my fellow colleagues who belong to political parties here, can do rallies there.  You can pay, they are not interested in which political party you belong.  What they are interested is in you paying your money.

That money goes to council, it is able to now assist that club to sustain itself.  Without you ploughing back, it becomes a problem.  So there is now a way of having funding.  The balls are there.  Not only that, it has an effect on the national sporting agenda.  We are dismally performing in all sports, why, because there are no centres.  Cricket, if you go to the West Indies, they play cricket on the beach.  We have never heard that they sold the beach. There is Bryan Lara and Viv Richards, if you know of cricket.

The great legends of cricket were playing on the beach.   That is how they learn cricket, that is in West Indies.  Where are we in terms of our own people?  You go to the rural areas, they go to the schools, you see them playing football.  Vofudza mombe, but varikutamba bhora, umwe arikunoona mombe and so on.  Sorry Mr. Speaker Sir, I need to come from time to time.  There are times when I go to English and then Shona but English becomes the key language.  So to me, we need to really understand all these issues.

We spoke about the corporate social responsibility. Hon. Members here, you have got companies in your constituencies, how much are they contributing to the constituency in terms of corporate social responsibility?  How many clubs have they built, how many schools have they built, how many clinics have they built? Surely, there is no Member of Parliament who is excited about being given fuel to get around yet at the end of the day you are getting around – for what?

It is there in the Constitution, Section 13 (4) of the Constitution talks about your local resources being the ones that you used to empower your people.  Why are you not using that provision?  Surely, no one should come and tell you. We have the Constitution, we make laws, that is why people are saying Zimbabwe is good at making laws but they never implement the laws.  Section 13 (4), zvinhu zviri munzvimbo imomo hupfumi hwevanhu vari imomo, and that is it.  Go to every company and say how much are you putting into this area to grow?

So, corporate social responsibility – they do it willy-nilly, they are not serious, they are fake companies who have not done anything to grow this country.

They are taking out more than they are ploughing back.  In that aspect, I regret the suspension or the repeal of the Indigenisation Act which was 49% to the majority, 10% was to the locals, 10% to the workers, 31% was to the Sovereign Wealth Fund which in case of emergency, where there is COVID, can be utilised.   Today how much has the Sovereign Wealth Fund got?

I am talking about laws which had been there which were good – were taken out; we were hoodwinked by the foreigners saying no, 41-59% is too much.  We relaxed it, how much foreign direct investment has come in after we repealed this?  It is our people who are poorer because we removed a law which empowered the people.

The late former President R.G Mugabe was critical and was serious about the empowerment of the people, may his soul rest in peace.  We were given farms, he then said let us go for these companies, we did it.  He fought for this country to be empowered.

We have lost the economic emancipation of this country through wanting to appease the foreigners at the expense of our people. This is emotional.  How then do you explain to generations to come that the country is ours with nothing tangible?

The youths are now abusing drugs.  We need to revisit our laws; we need to be serious if we are true legislators.  We need to stop being whipped at the demise of people suffering – they will not bring you back.  I pray that any leader or legislator who believes in being whipped and not representing the people, may God do what he has to do and may the ancestors of our country make you to suffer because when you were in power, you made people suffer.  You went before the people and said I will represent you.  Are you representing the people?

The Khumalo, hockey stadium, state of the art, I am glad that the Chairman talked about it.  The reason, hockey is being played but Mr. Speaker Sir; why not use that as an international stadium for SADC tournaments?  You need to have a swimming pool to swim; you need to find a swimming pool.  So we do not need to be playing hockey for people to find a good hockey stadium here – that is state of the art.  I am glad that Bulawayo with the little resources it gets sets the example.

They are marginalized in many ways but they have maintained it.  Go to Chitungwiza to the Aquatic Complex; go to the National Sports Stadium, avemarara but Bulawayo and the people of Matabeleland must be applauded for maintaining this stadium because it is totally opposite to what is happening in Harare and Chitungwiza.  Let it be put out there to the nation, to all countries as a stadium that they can come and be able to do that where they can visit the city of queens and kings where you will see the most beautiful women, light skinned, that is our country – that is important.

I want to also talk about the disabled; we have been talking about the disabled here and we talk about it when it suits us.  It is not on the agenda.  What have we done about the disabled? Where are the disabled people’s sporting facilities?

There must be a hockey stadium for the disabled, a football stadium for the disabled.  It is not a choice to be disabled; that is the way that God has made it. They are over a million 10 to 15% of the population.  Should we honestly remind each other that there must be a toilet, way, car for the disabled? Why are we letting God down? Which God do we pray to?

At Danhiko, you could show a lot about the former First Lady but I do not want to talk about the bad, she used to do something at Danhiko for sport.  So I am not about looking at what bad people do, I am different, I look at what good they do.  So who is sustaining those sporting activities there?  She used to do it and it was important from a national point of view, Danhiko would be there.

The late President R.G. Mugabe would be there, pulled by the wife that these are our orphans, let us take care of them.  So, what are we doing now to ensure that the orphans are taken care of?  Right now, they are crying, there is no one to help them.

You ladies are here, Women’s Caucus; why not caucus with the First Lady to continue with that programme?  Who is stopping you? You are being whipped again, you are afraid to talk to the First Lady?  If I speak, you say ah atuka vakuru!  No, I will keep on telling the truth; when things are not good, they are not good.  We will not mince our words.  The Executive must be able to act in terms of disbursement of money.

Finally, the information centres for Members of Parliament; those could be a conduit to doing a lot.  May it be a law that a Member of Parliament is given four hectares, not under any Hon. Member’s name but under Parliament so that anybody who goes into office, people make use of that area.  Four hectares are there, it is a centre   with everything, why are we not being given money for that?

We have passed the budgets here, we have not received the information centres, and we are going towards the elections.  So whatever we have passed in this House, 30% has been disbursed, so how can you say you are a nation moving forward?

How can you curb corruption? Without resources, you are wasting time. We burn midnight candles here to pass the budget but 30% is given.  So, how can the Minister even come for a supplementary budget when he did not disburse all the moneys?

Corruption is on the rise because of 30% disbursement. Hon Porusingazi for example is given insufficient coupons to go to his constituency in Chipinge, he will be forced to ferry people along the way to supplement his fuel.  We are at a threat from a security point of view because of poverty, because of the non-delivery of the budget in this country.

For as long as the budget we pass here, money is not disbursed on time, it is a problem and people will continue to suffer.  May those that were given the gift by God to say the truth, say the truth without fear or favour, may that spirit of people being true legislators speak and may that spirit of whipping and being intimidated come to end.  It is about time you get up and represent people.  I thank you.

On the motion of HON. MATAMISA, seconded by HON. TAKESHI, the House adjourned at Eleven Minutes past Five o’clock p.m.

Mavaza: History Of Election Fraud Exposed

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | Each time Zimbabwe prepares for elections the opposition prepares a case of a stollen vote. By now, the trend is abundantly clear: No matter the election, no matter the evidence and sometimes no matter whether his side wins or not, Chamisa is going to claim or suggest widespread voter fraud.
It’s always baseless, and often someone has already debunked either his exact claim or a version of it. But rarely is it as dubious as the sunshine at night.
It’s inexplicable that Opposition candidates lost by so much in many areas because his endorsement has been so successful elsewhere. This ignores that his endorsement has failed plenty, including in high-profile races in some areas. The vast majority of Chamisa’s endorsees win, but that’s because most of them face only token opposition in towns when it’s a competitive race, he’s much closer to 50-50.

The truth of the matter is that those who blame others for fraud are the best fraudsters. Chamisa strove from fraud. He had stollen elections in his own party and has shown tendencies of dictatorship. Ironically Chamisa cries for legitimacy when he himself is a virgin to legitimacy.
Senior members of the CCC have given a blow by blow underhand dealings of Chamisa in MDC and now CCC.
In May 2013 Nelson Chamisa stole an election for the MDC – T Mbare Member of Parliament Primary Elections against Sten Zvorwadza who was evidently popular in favour of Eric Knight, a candidate who was unknown in Mbare constituency by the MDC – T structures. After votes were casted Chamisa used his thuggery and short changed Zvorwadza for Erick Knight.
Nelson Chamisa can not teach anyone principles of democracy because he is a permanent friend to hypocrisy and undemocratic principles.

Through his dictatorship Chamisa rigged MDC – T Primary elections in many constituencies across the country. Many candidates were not happy and this disgruntlement among candidates whom Chamisa stole elections from did not pull in the same direction and led to a massive loss by the MDC – T at the General Elections which were held the same year.
Chamisa and democracy can never be in the same sentence. This explains why Chamisa can not have or allow a constitution or standing orders to stand in CCC. Dictators are not friends to any constitution.
Chamisa thinks that everyone steals elections because he understands the art of election theft.Chamisa knows that elections can be stolen because he is a real practitioner of stealing elections. He had applied electoral theft to an extent that he sees it everywhere.
In 2013, more than 10 candidates wrote letters to the Party requesting re-runs of Primary Elections because Nelson Chamisa had stolen elections from popular Party candidates.
Internal emails and interviews with key participants reveal for the first time the extent to which leading advocates of the rigged election theory touted evidence they knew to be disproven, disputed or dismissed as dubious.
By the time Chamisa sat down in front of a video recorder of foreign journalists he had grown accustomed to divulging what he called theft. After swearing to tell nothing but the truth so help him God, he will blame the ruling party for stealing.

Sten Zvorwadza maintained his cool throughout the years despite the fact that Nelson Chamisa wronged him.
But despite all that the truth can be said now. The truth about the corruption. About the manipulation. About the lies.”
“In this case, it’s the manipulation of votes,And the lies being told to a country.”

Erick Knight was a lemon tree which was grafted on an orange tree in Mbare. Having been taken from the United Kingdom. This move by Chamisa showed no respect of substantive representation no respect for the grassroots and no respect for the people. The behaviour of total disregard of democracy does not make Chamisa but it is what he is. His behaviour repeats itself it exhibits utter disrespect of the concept of representation.
It exhibits a mindset of disregarding of people’s wishes.
The hypocrisy of it all is that this comes from a man who claims to be a government in waiting. His actions exposes his calibre his understanding total impunity from the so called champion of democracy.
Chamisa has left a trail of democratic destruction, undermining instead of promoting democracy. He has shown a pattern of disrespect. We should look no further but see how he treated Thokozani Khupe. How he treated Morgan Tsvangirai, how he treated Mwonzora and Stan Zvorwadza. These are his character traits,of dishonesty, criminality and full of I know. He is not a listening leader. He presumes everything on people’s behalf if he is out in the state house he will presume things for us in this year and age.
The electorate is entitled to look at similar Facts Evidence and we should know what is in store for us as a nation. The yardstick Chamisa measures ZANU OF with is not the same he use himself.
The fact that currently CCC is a mistake is not a one off event. What should frighten us as Zimbabweans is that he is astute to blame ZANU PF yet he has no respect for the same issues he highlights in blaming ZANU PF. Chamisa dwells in an engrained trend which make him who he is a dictator.
After and towards every elections Chamisa and his team always have new sort of intelligence to share. They claim to know that the presidential election had been rigged — and how. They come up with wild stories that they have attended meetings in which the administration discussed how to develop specialized software to steal elections with representatives from Israel China or Russia. They bring up weird stories of an X changing places going to settle in ZANU PF.
All this is made to cast aspersions on the smart victory of ZANU PF.

Going back on the trend of vote stealing by Chamisa and his team we know that Sten Zvorwadza’s Mbare Primary Election theft was notable and therefore all top MDC -T leaders were aware that Nelson Chamisa had stolen Sten Zvorwadza’s victory infavour of Eric Knight. Leaders such as Hon Tendai Biti, Hon Elias Mudzuri, Hon Komichi, Hon Mashakada, Hon Mwonzora, Hon Zwizai, Hon Zvidzai including the late Dr M R Tsvangirai were fully aware of Nelson Chamisa’s Primary Election theft against Sten Zvorwadza in favour of a candidate who paid him money for that. The truth is a phone call away. Just calling Biti or Skhala to confirm shows that Chamisa will be a disaster if he is allowed near the state house.
Despite the problems Zimbabweans are facing now they must know that Nelson Chamisa is an Agent of Evil but masquerade as an Agent of Hope and light. How can such a person be trusted with State Power?
Nelson Chamisa must be exposed and the world should know that he is a hypocrite who is quick to blame ZANU PF for stealing an election from him in favour of HE ED Mnangagwa. He thinks everyone is an election thief like himself.
Chamisa’s hypocrisy must be exposed
As we March towards 2023 Zimbabweans must not be fooled by a party with no reason to be a party. A party with no constitution which put its trust in one man in this age.
It is a thief who accuses others of stealing to deflect attention.

Come 2023 Zimbabweans must never allow Chamisa to steal our vote. [email protected]

Grief Sucks; Brilliant Pongo Shares Journey With Grief in New Book

In a 1959 speech, John F. Kennedy famously said: “When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters—one represents danger and one represents opportunity.” Although today it is widely recognized that this is not the correct interpretation of the Chinese characters, President Kennedy’s wisdom about a crisis yielding unique opportunities may be more important than ever.

This also holds true for many that are grieving indeed it is in those moments of grief and the crisis that death brings that certain cultural and traditional norms are questioned and challenged.

In his latest offering author Brilliant Pongo shares his journey with grief in a book he has titled “Grief Sucks, But Hope Again ; a memoir of pain and loss”
He challenges readers to re-examine the efficacy of what some societies hold as cultural or traditional with regards the conduct expected during mourning or grieving.
Speaking to ZimEye Pongo said, “Indeed, we face so many challenges in the aftermath of a death nevertheless we tend to only highlight and talk of the good and the successes and neglect to speak up on the challenges we encounter during and after the funeral wake.
We rarely share testimonies about how we overcome some of these challenges.
We keep a lot inside and only share success. We must be brave to talk about these issues.
It is my hope that as people read this book we normalise talking about the challenges of dealing with death and perhaps start questioning the efficacy of what we hold as cultural and traditional norms and start challenging and debating whether some of these are fit for purpose in our day and age.”

Brill Pongo is a prolific author with more than 10 publications which include Christian books and self-help books said after the death of his wife he felt he had to share his experiences with grief.

In the last couple of years, the grief memoir has become a genre of its own, a form of public mourning and sometimes of self-therapy, where the bereaved search for meaning from the confusion and mind numbing pain that comes with the death of a loved one.
When one loses a loved one be it wife, mother, father, child or sibling, there comes with it an intense type of grief that has power to turn your world upside down. The death of a loved one resists meaning and it plays havoc with the order and chronology of language. How can words give shape to shapelessness or articulate silence and dissolution? As Emily Dickinson said: “Abyss has no biographer.”
Indeed, there are no words that can describe grief caused by the loss of a loved one.
Nonetheless, all one can do is to share their experiences with grief as Brill Pongo has done in this memoir ‘Grief Sucks’.
The book has 18 chapters with a range of topics. Brill Pongo, narrates his experience with grief through poems that he penned during his low moments of grieving and intricately weaves together the poem to the story and experience that he was going through at that particular moment.

He talks about how he dealt with some very difficult situations, during his grieving.
He questions the stages of grief as set out by psychologist. He asks rhetorically whether the stages of grief relate or not to lived experiences.
He also ventures to explore cultural differences that affect the way people mourn and grieve.
And he touches on some difficulties faced by migrants who live in the diaspora and challenges of deciding where to bury a loved one.
He adds a personal touch to all this by sharing his personal experiences about family fallouts, strained relationships with his in-laws and how cultural differences can sometimes be abused and used vindictively. In this book Brill Pongo also offers insights on how friends can help someone who is grieving.
Overall it is an interesting and amazing read. Once again Brill Pongo has shown great prowess in his ability to tell a reverting story and teach at the same time.
A worthy read that I would highly recommend. The book is available on multiple online platforms such as Amazon, Waterstones, bookdepository, barnesandnoble, and Blackwells book store.
