By James Gwati | **Kariba** – The Kariba Police Department has launched an extensive search for Blessed Chanetsa, a 23-year-old agent working for the money transfer service Mukuru, who has mysteriously disappeared along with US$15,181. The funds, reportedly designated for client disbursement, vanished on New Year’s Day, sparking an immediate investigation.
In a press statement released Friday, the police expressed their deep concern and urged the public to provide any information that could lead to locating Chanetsa. The statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) read, “The ZRP is looking for a Mukuru employee, Blessed Chanetsa (23), who went missing with US$15,181 meant for disbursement to clients in Kariba on 01/01/24. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to report at any nearest police station.”
The disappearance of Chanetsa not only highlights the issue of missing persons but also casts a spotlight on the security measures employed by financial institutions, particularly in the money transfer sector. The incident raises significant concerns regarding the safeguarding of client funds and the potential risks involved in such transactions.
As the police intensify their search efforts, the broader implications of this incident are becoming a topic of discussion among industry experts and clients alike. Questions are being raised about the adequacy of existing security protocols within the money transfer industry and the potential repercussions for clients who are now left in uncertainty about their funds.
The situation remains fluid, and updates are expected as the investigation progresses. The police have appealed to the community to remain vigilant and to come forward with any information that could assist in resolving this unsettling case.
The recent victory of Scott Sakupwanya in the Mabvuku-Tafara Constituency by-election has sparked controversy and criticism from the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) and political observers.
ZimEye.com has also exclusively revealed Sakupwanya’s shenanigans with Sengezo Tshabangu.
Sakupwanya, a member of the ruling party ZANU-PF, was declared the winner of the constituency’s parliamentary elections amidst allegations of voter intimidation and manipulation.
CCC activist Tapfumanei Masaya was brutally murdered in the same constituency.
Local civil society organizations have condemned the election results, citing numerous irregularities and violation of electoral laws. They say that Sakupwanya’s victory was not a fair reflection of the people’s choice and that the ruling party used its power and influence to secure his win with the help of Tshabangu.
This controversial victory has once again raised concerns about the state of democracy in Zimbabwe and highlights the need for transparent and accountable electoral processes.
In a statement CCC said :
“In the sham elections of August 2023, the citizens of Mabvuku Tafara voted for Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, who secured 15,934 votes. He defeated a Zanu PF #GoldMafia candidate who polled 12,038 votes, despite spending millions of dollars in vote buying.
It’s only in a Banana Republic where a losing candidate becomes part of the sitting parliamentarians. #Wakabvuta. “

MIGHTY Warriors head coach Shadreck Mlauzi’s judgment in a matter he is accused of indecently assaulting a female member of the technical team has been postponed to Wednesday next week.
Mlauzi will have to wait a little longer for his judgment day after the presiding magistrate deferred the matter to the 10th of this month.
The magistrate said she had not finished writing the judgment, indicating that it would be ready on Wednesday.
Mlauzi’s trial closed in December last year where during the State’s case the complainant insisted, she was violated by the accused, while Mlauzi argued that he had a virtual relationship with the complainant which was never physical.
Allegations are that Mlauzi allegedly asked the complainant to kiss him on the lips in his room before he grabbed her shoulders and pulled her towards him to kiss her without her consent.
The Mighty Warriors coach also stands accused of instructing the complainant to report to his room and massage him while the team was in South Africa for the COSAFA Women’s Championship.
It is further alleged that Mlauzi started harassing the complainant before she filed a complaint to the COSAFA Safeguarding Officer.
By James Gwati- In a move set to impact motorists across Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has declared an increase in toll fees effective January 5, 2024.
The toll adjustments, initially proposed in the 2024 National Budget by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, are particularly contentious, drawing criticism from the public.
On what are classified as “premium roads” like Harare/Beitbridge and Plumtree/Mutare, toll fees for light motor vehicles have surged from US$2 to US$4.
The increase is from US$2 to US$3 on all other roads, sparking concerns and discontent among road users.
Here are the revised toll fees for various vehicle classes:
On Premium Roads:
Light Motor-Vehicle: USD 2.00 (old tariff), USD 4.00 (new tariff)
Minibuses: USD 3.00 (old tariff), USD 6.00 (new tariff)
Buses: USD 4.00 (old tariff), USD 8.00 (new tariff)
Heavy Vehicles: USD 5.00 (old tariff), USD 10.00 (new tariff)
Haulage Trucks: USD 10.00 (old tariff), USD 20.00 (new tariff)
Residential Per Term: USD 40.00 (old tariff), USD 80.00 (new tariff)

Haulage Trucks: USD 10.00 (old tariff), USD 15.00 (new tariff)
Residential Per Term: USD 40.00 (old tariff), USD 60.00 (new tariff)
Motorcycles remain exempted from toll fee payments.
This hike in toll fees has stirred dissatisfaction, with concerns raised about the financial burden on motorists, especially against the backdrop of economic challenges. As the changes come into effect, ZINARA faces increasing scrutiny from the public and calls for a reevaluation of the toll fee adjustments.
By James Gwati-In response to a surge in applications for service extensions from retiring officers facing financial uncertainties, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) tightens regulations governing post-retirement extensions.
Many officers reaching the mandatory retirement age of 50 hesitate to retire due to a lack of financial savings or assets to sustain themselves, prompting the authorities to impose more rigorous vetting conditions on extension applications.
Under Section 22 (3) and (4) of the Police Act Chapter 11:10, officers at retirement age are permitted to extend their service.
However, the overwhelming number of extension requests received last year led to the enforcement of stricter vetting measures by police authorities.
A senior police officer, speaking anonymously, disclosed to NewsDay that a significant number of retiring officers seek contract extensions because they lack alternative sources of income for post-retirement survival.
The officer emphasized the financial challenges faced by officers, stating: “The issue is, most police officers have no savings or investments for their retirements. Owing to the meager salaries they have been earning over the years, the majority have nothing for their retirement survival so they do not want to retire.”
Even after retirement, officers continue to bear responsibilities such as supporting their families, funding education, and meeting other family needs.
The financial strain, coupled with the lump sum retirement packages in local currency, equivalent to approximately US$2,000, received by some retiring officers last year, has led many to opt for service extensions.
As Zimbabwean police officers voice concerns about inadequate remuneration, Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga faces ongoing appeals for improved conditions.
The tightening of regulations adds a layer of complexity to the officers’ decisions regarding retirement, signaling a broader issue of financial insecurity within the police force.

BY James Gwati- Five people have died in a devastating incident Thursday after a CAG bus collided head-on with a Mazda B2200 on the Karoi-Binga Road.
According to a police report, three victims lost their lives instantly at the accident scene, while two others succumbed to injuries upon hospital admission. The Mazda, carrying fifteen passengers, bore the brunt of the collision. Read the statement:
“A fatal road traffic accident unfolded at the 26 km peg along the Karoi-Binga Road on January 4, 2024, at approximately 1300 hours. The collision involved a CAG bus en route to Magunje and a Mazda B2200 traveling in the opposite direction with fifteen passengers on board. Tragically, three occupants of the Mazda Pick-up perished on the spot, with two more losing their lives upon admission to Karoi Hospital. An additional ten passengers sustained severe injuries in the harrowing incident”.
This tragic occurrence follows closely on the heels of another mishap involving a CAG bus just a week earlier.
On the Centenary-Muzarabani Road, a CAG bus failed to navigate a curve, crashing into the mountainside with 68 passengers on board.
The impact left 15 individuals with varying degrees of injuries, necessitating urgent medical attention at St Albert Mission Hospital.
Expressing deep concern over the surge in road accidents, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has appealed to public service vehicle operators to avoid overloading, emphasizing its significant contribution to accidents.
In a stern stance, the police have reiterated that private taxis or “mushika shika” vehicles will not be permitted passage through checkpoints, including those established for road safety campaigns.
South Africa Faces Scrutiny as It Takes Israel to International Court Over Genocide Allegations.
Cyril Ramaphosa with his genocide boasting colleague Emmerson Mnangagwa – file copy: copyright Agencies
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | In a stark illustration of international legal and political complexities, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent statements contrast sharply with his government’s actions on the world stage. As South Africa gears up to confront the Israeli government in the International Court of Justice, Ramaphosa’s own rhetoric concerning similar situations, particularly in Zimbabwe, is marked by a conspicuous dissonance.
Ramaphosa has been part of a global narrative that glosses over the harsh realities in Zimbabwe, repeatedly stating that “the elections went well… the only thing that is left is to remove sanctions.” This narrative starkly conflicts with the proven genocide in Zimbabwe, publicly boasted by its perpetrator, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa’s open admissions and declarations about his oppressive actions, including deploying the army against election winners and his chilling remarks equating democracy with death, stand as testament to the severity of these human rights violations.
Mnangagwa’s disturbing statements, such as commanding the army to surround and beat down residents of Kuwadzana for allegedly stopping the rain, and his assertion that “dying is democracy” because the dead constitute the majority, provide a clear and explicit acknowledgment of his role in these atrocities. His rhetoric, which attempts to intertwine political governance with fatalistic and undemocratic principles, highlights a brutal regime that has systematically violated human rights.
The contrast between South Africa’s legal challenge to Israel and Ramaphosa’s active war-crime role in Zimbabwe under Mnangagwa, who has openly admitted to genocidal acts, raises significant questions about the consistency and credibility of South Africa’s standpoint understanding of international law. This dichotomy puts the spotlight on the South African leadership’s integrity and impartiality in addressing and acknowledging gross human rights violations, both within its region and globally. As the international community observes South Africa’s legal maneuvers, the integrity of its leadership in championing human rights is being scrutinized and challenged.
This is a significant escalation of international legal drama, in which the South African government is preparing to take Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over allegations of genocide, even as it faces its own legal scrutiny over past actions. This move comes at a critical time when Pretoria has been found guilty by the South African Supreme Court of genocide crimes against Zimbabweans led by Nelson Chamisa, raising questions about the government’s consistency in addressing human rights violations.
Adding complexity to South Africa’s position is a separate but related case where the government was found guilty of violating genocide laws and failing in accountability reporting over war crimes related to Zimbabwe’s 2002 elections. The Supreme Court of Appeal ordered President Zuma to disclose a previously withheld report by Justices Khampepe and Moseneke on the rigging of Zimbabwe’s presidential election. This report, requested by former President Mbeki and initially suppressed, had been sought by The Mail & Guardian under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). After a prolonged legal battle, the Supreme Court’s decision to make the report public was a blow to the government’s transparency record.
The forthcoming legal confrontation with Israel over its military actions in Gaza will test South Africa’s standing in the international community. Israel’s potential challenge to South Africa’s legitimacy in bringing forth the allegations is rooted in Pretoria’s historical violations of domestic and international laws concerning war crimes and genocide. This includes its controversial support for the violent overthrow of elected governments in neighboring Zimbabwe, often spearheaded by Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The South African government’s involvement in publishing falsehoods about Zimbabwe’s war-crime-ridden elections and declaring Mnangagwa the winner despite evidence of electoral violence further complicates its role as a proponent of justice in the Israel case. The South African Supreme Court’s rulings implicate the government in supporting genocide, thereby potentially undermining its moral authority in the ICJ case against Israel.
The case against Israel, focused on preventing acts of potential genocide in Gaza, has gained urgency and international support. However, South Africa’s contentious legal history, including the suppression of the Khampepe and Moseneke report and the Supreme Court’s criticism of President Zuma’s handling of the case, might affect its credibility in the international legal arena. The Supreme Court of Appeal’s description of the President’s Office conduct as “bordering on the cynical” and an “abuse of process” casts a shadow on the government’s commitment to transparency and justice.
As the international community awaits the proceedings at The Hague, the situation underscores the complex interplay of international law, domestic legal challenges, and diplomacy in addressing serious human rights violations. The outcome of this legal battle could have far-reaching implications for international law and the prosecution of genocide, as well as South Africa’s role in the global human rights landscape.- ZimEye

This year alone, more United States have implemented adjustments in their laws to make gambling legal, causing a ripple effect on other jurisdictions to make the move. Thus leaving us with high expectations for what 2024 holds.

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Faces Lawsuit Over “Imposter” Inclusion.
By A Correspondent | In a groundbreaking legal development, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has been hit with a lawsuit concerning its controversial inclusion of Sengezo Tshabangu, who is internationally recognized as an “imposter.” This lawsuit emerges amid the commission’s conduct of bi-elections, significantly influenced by Tshabangu’s assertions that he is the Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change party, led by Nelson Chamisa.
Justice Priscilla Chigumba
The legal action has been initiated by Brian Mari, a Zimbabwean based in South Africa, targeting a group of nine individuals. This list includes Chief Justice Luke Malaba, Zim Stats, the Attorney General, the Law Society of Zimbabwe, The Human Rights Commission, and Emmerson Mnangagwa’s lawyer, Lewis Uriri.
The core of the lawsuit is steeped in constitutional concerns. Mari’s submission states, “Should a person without authority get into parliament and change the constitution, I may suffer irreparable damage to my other rights enshrined in the constitution and law.” The argument extends to the fundamental nature of Zimbabwe’s constitution, ratified by its citizens, reflecting their collective will on governance.
Central to the case is the assertion that the constitution’s supremacy, as outlined in section 2, and its principles of good governance in section 3(2), are being compromised. These sections emphasize universal suffrage, the sanctity of free and fair elections, and adequate representation, foundational to Zimbabwe’s democracy.
This lawsuit represents a significant challenge to the Electoral Commission’s operations and raises critical questions about the legitimacy of its electoral processes. It underscores the tension between constitutional mandates and the practical realities of political maneuvering in Zimbabwe. The outcome of this legal battle is poised to have far-reaching implications for the country’s democratic framework and governance.
Zhombe: Beneath the golden glow of the African sun, a dark truth simmers in the rural district. Child marriages, a cruel theft of childhood, run rampant. Every week, an estimated five young girls trade their textbooks for bride prices, their futures sacrificed to a deeply rooted tradition fueled by poverty and parental desperation.
Member of Parliament Eddie Samambwa, his voice heavy with frustration, paints a grim picture. “Parents, the very people meant to protect these girls, become their jailers,” he laments. Blinded by the promise of meagre dowries, they surrender their daughters to the shackles of early marriage, extinguishing their dreams before they even flicker.
The consequences are stark. Schools become empty nests, echoing with the absence of girls stolen away in the bloom of youth. Education, the key to unlocking a brighter future, is cruelly ripped away, replaced by the harsh realities of domesticity and motherhood.
But Samambwa refuses to surrender. He calls for a united front, urging stakeholders – community leaders, traditional chiefs, and even the distant halls of government – to break the chains of this harmful practice. He yearns for a Zhombe where girls are not commodities, but cherished seeds of potential, ready to blossom if only given the chance.
This story is not just about statistics or blame. It’s about the stolen laughter, the silenced dreams, and the shattered innocence of countless girls. It’s a call to action, a plea to shift the narrative. To rewrite the tradition, not by erasing it, but by infusing it with the values of education, empowerment, and the fundamental right of every child – a childhood.
So, let us not forget the girls of Zhombe. Let their stolen futures ignite a fire within us, a fire that burns bright enough to illuminate a path towards a future where tradition and progress walk hand-in-hand, where girls are not brides, but builders of their own destinies.
In a significant move against unlawful land occupation, the Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested 17 individuals accused of illegally settling at Longlands and Tantalon farms in the Beatrice area. Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, confirmed these developments in a recent statement.
These arrests are part of a broader operation targeting illegal settlements in Mashonaland East, which also includes Dagbreek farms in Beatrice and Chivhu. Nyathi revealed that 14 other suspects apprehended at Longlands Farm on December 29, 2023, are currently awaiting their court appearances.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi issued a stern warning against land barons, who have been illicitly distributing land to desperate home seekers. The police have identified several suspects believed to be involved in these illegal activities, including Michel Ndlovu, Zivengwa Mamina, Chrispen Magaya, Shadreck Chimbare, Shepherd Jongwe, Misheck Chuma, and Last Rutsvara. These individuals have been summoned for interviews with the CID in Chivhu and Beatrice.
Highlighting the legal process for land allocation, Asst Comm Nyathi stressed that only the Ministry of Land, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development is authorized to distribute agricultural land. He advised those in need of such land to approach the ministry directly.
The police’s crackdown is a clear message that unauthorized land distribution and development on private or gazetted land will be met with strict legal action. The Zimbabwe Republic Police’s commitment to enforcing the law in this matter reflects their dedication to maintaining order and respecting property rights in the country.- state media
In a stunning twist of criminal audacity, Chamunorwa Muvhuti, a 40-year-old former merchandiser at Mahomed Mussa Wholesalers, has been sentenced to two years in prison. His crime? Stealing US$195,000 from his employer and using part of this fortune to pay a substantial lobola (bride price) of US$4,426.
The Harare magistrate, Mrs. Apollonia Marutya, handed down the sentence after Muvhuti’s guilty plea. Initially facing 36 months, the term was reduced considering he was a first-time offender and didn’t prolong the court proceedings.
Muvhuti’s defense was rooted in financial desperation, claiming his employer’s insufficient pay drove him to theft. However, Mrs. Marutya emphasized the breach of trust involved, underlining the gravity of his actions.
The heist was meticulously planned. On December 21, Muvhuti, with the help of security guards Jeremiah Kwenda and Phineas Moyo, concealed himself in the shop. He broke a black portable safe from the wall using a sharp metal object and escaped with the stolen cash.
The crime unravelled on Christmas Day. Muvhuti, in Mupande Village, Chief Chitsungo in Pfungwe, was apprehended while paying lobola. Remarkably, US$186,100 was recovered from his home in Chitungwiza, along with the stolen safe.
Despite the significant recovery, the court underlined the severe breach of trust between Muvhuti and his employer, overshadowing his motivations and the familial obligations he cited in his defense. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of choosing illicit means to fulfill traditional obligations.- state media
THE police have arrested a suspected serial rapist who allegedly went on a rampage in Madziwa raping women and committing robberies between January and December last year.
38-year-old Luckmore Mazambani of Chakonda village in the Chief Madziwa area of Shamva, who allegedly targeted women that were alone at home before raping them, was nabbed by police on 29 December.
Mashonaland Central Police Spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe said Mazambani was already on the wanted list for allegedly committing another rape case in 2021 when he sexually assaulted three victims between January and December last year.
Sometime in January 2023, the suspect allegedly invaded the house of a 47-year-old woman at night and raped her once before robbing her of her cell phone and groceries.
Mazambani, who allegedly raped two more women, is also accused of wilfully infecting his victims with HIV.
Luck ran out for Mazambani when police received a tip off and arrested him on 29 December.
Stolen property worth US$265 was recovered and the suspect was positively identified by his victims in a parade.
By Ali Matapatira | In a harrowing turn of events, a mine collapse at Redwing Mine, owned by the notorious Gold Mafia kingpin and Member of Parliament, Scott Sakupwanya, has left 11 individuals suspected to be trapped approximately 20 meters below the surface. The incident, which occurred today, Thursday, January 4, 2024, between 5:00 am and 6:00 am, has sparked fears and a frantic rescue effort in the region.
The cause of the collapse is suspected to be an earth tremor, although the exact source is yet to be confirmed. Initial reports suggest that the miners entered the mine through different shafts, compounding the complexity of the rescue operation.
Efforts to rescue the trapped individuals were initiated by the Metallon Gold team at Redwing Mine, in conjunction with inspectors from the Ministry of Mines Provincial Office. However, these attempts were met with adversity as the ground continued to cave in, forcing the rescue team to retreat. Subsequent efforts at 12:00 pm revealed that the situation had worsened.
Metallon Gold has declared its insufficient capacity to carry out the rescue mission, citing the development of more cracks on the surface and noticeable subsidence around the mine. The company has also indicated that the miners may have excavated support pillars, exacerbating the precarious conditions underground.
In a concerning revelation, it has been disclosed that Metallon Gold Redwing has been tributing mining areas, even to individuals, according to a statement from the Minister. The collapsed shaft was under the responsibility of individuals who were workers of the tribute, ultimately placing the management of the affected area under the principal owner, Metallon Gold. Consequently, the rescue effort has been spearheaded by the Metallon team, with support from the Ministry of Mines, as well as other stakeholders including the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and Civil Protection.
Expressing hope for a successful outcome, Honorable Z. Soda of the Ministry of Mines affirmed that rescue activities will resume tomorrow morning. However, concerns have been raised regarding the visible cracking and subsidence in the area, emphasizing the inherent dangers of the ongoing rescue operation.
This tragic accident has brought into sharp focus the clandestine activities of the Gold Mafia Cabal, prompting widespread scrutiny and apprehension regarding the operations within the mining industry.
TWO people from Glendale, Mazoe district have succumbed to cholera with 49 cases being recorded in the area which has been flagged as a hotspot for the epidemic.
The government has adopted a raft of measures to mitigate the spread of cholera which has hit parts of Mashonaland Central particularly Glendale in the Mazowe district.
Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Christopher Magomo said civil protection committees have been activated.
“We are working flat out to avert the spread of cholera in Mashonaland Central Province. It is not only Mazowe which has been affected but Shamva and Mazowe as well. I urge all people to exercise high standards of hygiene so that we beat this disease.”
Public gatherings and vending have since been banned in Glendale while a quarantine Centre has been set up for patients at Tsungubvi Polyclinic.
“The quarantine area is where patients screened for cholera will be cared for. We have also conducted a general clean-up. We also want to thank stakeholders who have donated aqua-tablets,” said the Ward 33 Councillor, Mr Alderman Mitchel Kasere.
Residents are also playing their part to ensure the disease is contained.
A community member said, “We have to fetch water from other sources which I think are clean because our area is hardest hit.”
“I have since adopted better hygiene standards to mitigate this disease. We are hearing of cases in our neighbourhood so we are on alert,” said another member.
Nhano area where people informally settled themselves is the worst affected area in Glendale as it has substandard ablution facilities and water wells.
Nationwide Power Outage in Zimbabwe Disrupts Businesses and Daily Life
In an unexpected turn of events, a significant technical fault at the Insukamini substation in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, led to a countrywide power outage early yesterday morning. The incident, which commenced around 05:22 hrs, caused widespread disruption, affecting businesses, traffic systems, and daily routines across the nation.
The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) confirmed the incident, attributing the outage to a system surge caused by a busbar fault at the Insukamini 330kv substation. While power has been restored in most regions, Zesa’s technical teams are working diligently to ensure complete restoration.
The power cut severely impacted business operations, particularly in Bulawayo. Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries Matabeleland Chapter president, Mr. Joseph Gunda, expressed concerns over the shutdown of most industries, which lacked alternative power sources. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs), crucial to the economy, faced acute challenges. Mr. Nketa Mangoye Dlamini, the Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs programmes coordinator, emphasized the significant impact of lost production hours, especially for businesses involved in producing school uniforms with impending deadlines.
The outage also led to traffic chaos in busy intersections due to non-functional traffic lights, complicating the morning commute for thousands of motorists.
On a more personal front, residents like Mrs. Edith Zhou and Ms. Gladys Ndlovu shared their worries. Mrs. Zhou feared the loss of perishable food items, while Ms. Ndlovu’s concern was for her diabetes medication, which requires refrigeration.
This incident comes as a surprise, given the recent commissioning of Unit 7 and 8 of the US$1.4 billion Hwange expansion project, which added 600MW to the national grid, significantly improving power generation and reducing instances of load shedding.
As Zimbabwe grapples with this unexpected power crisis, the focus remains on Zesa’s efforts to restore normalcy and the broader implications for the country’s infrastructure resilience.
THE country has been hit by blood group ‘O’ shortages, amid revelations that the national blood bank only has one day’s supply of the precious liquid.
The festive season is associated with high demand for blood, owing to an increase in road traffic accidents.
However, the National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ) has revealed that the country is running out of blood group ‘O’ stocks.
NBSZ, Blood Donors Coordinator, Mr Tichaona Saira said, “In most cases, we experience a high demand for blood and this year the country is running out of blood group ‘O’ stock.
We are therefore encouraging people to donate blood to the nearest NBSZ offices near them.”
9 025 units of blood have been collected from November 13, 2023 to date against a target of 10 050 unitsz.
Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, a prominent Zimbabwean politician and member of the opposition, has recently found himself at the centre of a legal storm that has raised concerns about political freedom and the rule of law in the country.
Sikhala’s imprisonment has sparked debate about the fairness of the legal system and the implications for democracy in Zimbabwe.
Job Sikhala, a key figure in the Citizens Coalition for Change , has a history of vocal opposition to the ruling party, ZANU-PF, and Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Known for his impassioned speeches and bold critiques, Sikhala has been a thorn in the side of the government for years. The recent turn of events leading to Sikhala’s imprisonment began with his arrest on charges of “incitement to commit public violence.”
The arrest came after he allegedly made statements at a political rally that were deemed seditious and intended to cause unrest. Sikhala, however, maintains that his words were taken out of context and that he was merely expressing political dissent.
Legal Controversies
The legal proceedings surrounding Sikhala’s case have been marred by controversy. Critics argue that the charges against him are politically motivated, intended to silence dissent and stifle opposition voices. They point to a pattern of using legal mechanisms to target political opponents, raising questions about the independence of the judiciary and the fairness of the legal process.
Sikhala’s legal team has vehemently contested the charges, highlighting procedural irregularities and alleged violations of his rights during the arrest and subsequent trial. The case has become a symbol of the broader challenges faced by those opposing the ruling party in Zimbabwe.
International Reactions
Sikhala’s imprisonment has not gone unnoticed on the international stage.
Human rights organizations and foreign governments have expressed concerns about the state of democracy and human rights in Zimbabwe. Calls for Sikhala’s release have intensified, with advocates arguing that his case is emblematic of a larger crackdown on political dissent.
The Zimbabwean government, on the other hand, maintains that Sikhala is being held accountable for his actions, emphasizing the importance of upholding law and order in the face of perceived threats to stability.
Implications for Democracy
The imprisonment of Job Sikhala raises broader questions about the state of democracy in Zimbabwe. Critics argue that the government’s actions undermine the principles of free speech, political participation, and the right to dissent—fundamental pillars of any democratic society.
The case has prompted a reexamination of the country’s commitment to democratic values and the rule of law.
As the legal proceedings continue, the fate of Job Sikhala remains uncertain. His case serves as a litmus test for the resilience of democracy in Zimbabwe and the ability of the legal system to uphold justice impartially. In conclusion, Job Sikhala’s imprisonment has become a focal point for debates on political freedom, human rights, and the rule of law in Zimbabwe. The outcome of his case will not only shape his personal destiny but also have lasting implications for the democratic landscape of the nation.

A new year, 2024 is upon us! Indeed it is not a normal year but a leap year with 366 days instead of the ordinary 365.
To most of us who have endured torture, torment and agony under 44 years of the oppressive yoke of ZANU PF, this is indeed no ordinary year!
It is a year of defiance! A year of resistance against Emmerson Mnangagwa’s one man state attempts!
This very past year was one of the worst for those in the democratic movement. From the innocent blood of Tinashe Chitsungo to the innocent soul of Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, we all saw the ugly hand of Mnangagwa.
Talk of election robbery, reversal of people’s will, recall of people’s representatives, massive corruption…..the sins of this regime are just to many to count!
Clearly ZANU PF is on a deleterious path as far as our very existence as a people is concerned.
A people get leadership they deserve, so they say. This year presents a perfect opportunity to finally emerge from this hellhole situation which we found ourselves in under the so called new dispensation.
The situation calls for defiance and resistance from all progressive people of this great nation. Surely our motherland can never be a one man state!
It is time for people power. This is not the Zimbabwe we want!

By James Gwati – Nelson Chamisa, the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, continues to challenge the outcome of the 2023 elections, claiming his party was unfairly denied victory.
In his New Year message, Chamisa expressed unwavering confidence that, despite what he perceives as a “robbery” in 2023, God will restore their position in the coming year.
During his election campaign, Chamisa pledged victory for the CCC in the 2023 harmonized elections but ultimately lost to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Disputing the results, he called for a new election, accusing the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and ruling party ZANU PF of colluding to manipulate the outcome in Mnangagwa’s favor.
Chamisa cited various irregularities, including delayed voting, ballot box mix-ups, and voter intimidation, supported by both local and international observers.
Critics have previously accused Chamisa of being passive in his efforts to bring about change, emphasizing his focus on religious teachings.
However, the opposition leader defends his approach, stating that peaceful means are crucial to removing ZANU PF from power.
Drawing parallels to historical figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi, Chamisa believes in achieving victory through nonviolent methods.
In the face of criticism and calls for a more assertive approach, Chamisa remains resolute in his message of change, transformation, and vindication in 2024.
Despite differing opinions on the effectiveness of his methods, Chamisa’s supporters argue that a more aggressive stance could play into the hands of ZANU PF, potentially justifying repression or worse.
The coming year, according to Chamisa, holds the promise of “unprecedented wins and record-breaking gains,” with his ultimate goal being to “make change happen and transform Zimbabwe unto greatness.”

By James Gwati – A Chinhoyi Hospital-based 30-year-old medical doctor, Tinotenda Madzima, has lost his life after being struck by a dislodged truck tyre.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the tragic traffic accident on Wednesday morning of January 3, 2024, along the Harare-Chirundu Road, specifically at the 116-kilometer peg.
The fatal accident unfolded as Dr Madzima was walking along the road when a wheel dislodged from a moving Scania haulage truck, striking him on the back.
The impact proved fatal, and the young doctor succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
This unfortunate incident follows a series of similar accidents involving dislodged truck tyres, including one where a ZRP officer lost his life at the 51-kilometer peg along the Harare-Mutare Road.
In this instance, a haulage truck, registered as ACZ 3265 and owned by Shereni Transport, was responsible for the dislodged trailer wheel that led to the officer’s tragic demise.
While the ZRP did not disclose the officer’s name, they confirmed that she was part of a Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) team managing a roadblock in Marondera.
These unfortunate events highlight the urgent need for heightened road safety measures and increased vigilance in monitoring the condition of vehicles traversing Zimbabwe’s roads.
The loss of these lives underscores the potential dangers posed by dislodged truck parts and emphasizes the importance of preventive measures to avoid such tragic incidents in the future.
By James Gwati- The courts in 2023 handed down convictions to more than 2,200 individuals involved in robbery cases, with an additional 700 cases awaiting trial.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has been actively prioritizing the swift and effective prosecution of these cases.
Statistics reveal that out of the convictions, 721 were related to armed robbery involving the use of weapons, while 1,518 were for basic robbery, which may include the threat of force without a weapon.
Men constituted the majority of those convicted, with only two females found guilty of armed robbery and 17 of basic robbery.
Notably, Harare and Bulawayo recorded the highest number of convictions, with Harare convicting 412 male armed robbers and two females, and Bulawayo convicting 189 males.
In contrast, Matabeleland North had the fewest convictions, with only two individuals found guilty of armed robbery, while Mashonaland Central had four convictions.
In an interview with The Herald, NPA spokesperson Ms. Angeline Munyeriwa emphasized the authority’s goal to clear all pending robbery cases by the end of the first quarter of this year.
The Prosecutor General, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, has consistently urged prosecutors to oppose bail in all robbery cases and ensure swift case finalization.

The 34th edition of the tournament will get underway on 13 January in Ivory Coast.
The blackout is due to SuperSport’s failure to secure the rights to show the games.
The South African broadcaster’s parent company Multichoice confirmed the news in a statement.
The statement reads: “Supersport Channel will not broadcast the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 scheduled for January 13th – February 11th 2024 because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament.
“However, AFCON 2023 games will be available through our parter broadcast stations on Free-to-air (FTA) channels.”

By A Correspondent| At least 15 miners’ hope for riches turned to dust early this morning when a mineshaft at Redwing, owned by Zanu PF MP Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya, a figure steeped in controversy and whispers of the gold mafia, dramatically caved in.
Hundreds of desperate Penhalonga residents, driven by both grief and the allure of gold dust, now swarm the rescue operation.
They claw at the earth, fueled by flickering hope and the specter of Sakupwanya’s alleged ties to a shadowy network that controls much of the region’s mining wealth.
A local daily newspaper spoke to James Mupfumi, director of the Centre for Research and Development, who confirmed the accident.
“The shaft simply gave way,” he said, his voice heavy, “leaving miners trapped in the belly of the earth.”
Questions now hang heavy as thick dust over the rescue efforts.
Was this tragedy a predictable consequence of alleged lax safety practices at Sakupwanya’s mine, long associated with whispers of danger and exploitation?
While rescue continues, whispers of the “Redwing Curse” echo through the crowd. Stories of previous deadly cave-ins, of miners treated as cogs in a ruthless machine, add a chilling layer to the tragedy.
Sakupwanya, yet to issue a statement, remains a looming figure at the heart of the unfolding drama.
His alleged connections to the gold mafia, long documented by investigative journalists, cast a long shadow over the Redwing Mine.
By A Correspondent| Tensions are at a fever pitch in Zimbabwe as the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) hints at nationwide protests against President Mnangagwa’s contested August election victory. In a move signaling heightened anticipation, police have been placed on high alert across the country, with senior officers on standby for immediate deployment.
Sources within the force allege that intelligence reports have tipped off authorities about potential CCC demonstrations, prompting a preemptive show of strength. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, in a stark warning, declared: “Organizers of unsanctioned gatherings will face the full wrath of the law.”
This latest development marks a significant escalation in the already fraught political climate. The CCC, led by Nelson Chamisa, has consistently challenged the legitimacy of Mnangagwa’s re-election, citing widespread irregularities and voter intimidation. Their calls for an independent investigation have gone unanswered, fueling public frustration and simmering discontent.
With memories of past demonstrations marred by violence and heavy-handed police crackdowns still fresh, concerns are mounting about the potential for unrest.
The CCC has vowed their protests will be peaceful, but Nyathi’s stern message suggests authorities are prepared for a different scenario.
By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe’s political landscape received a musical twist yesterday after Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa took to Twitter to praise controversial musician Winky D.
In a short but enthusiastic tweet, Chamisa hailed Winky D, known as “Gaffa” by fans, as “GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time) for his “deep and relevant message.”
The tweet came in response to Winky D’s latest song, “Ngirozi,” which tackles themes of social injustice, government accountability, and the plight of ordinary Zimbabweans.
The song has become a popular anthem among the opposition, with its poignant lyrics resonating with many.
Chamisa’s praise for Winky D sparked immediate debate, with supporters lauding his recognition of the artist’s powerful message and detractors questioning the political implications of aligning himself with a figure known for his outspoken commentary.
“Winky D has always been a voice for the voiceless,” said CCC activist Tendai Moyo. “He speaks truth to power, and it’s refreshing to see a leader like Chamisa acknowledging that.”
However, others expressed concern about the potential politicization of art. “Winky D is a musician, not a politician,” argued ZANU-PF spokesperson Tafadzwa Mukaratigwa. “Chamisa should focus on addressing the country’s problems, not using artists to score political points.”
By A Correspondent| The traditional shopping chain in Zimbabwe is witnessing a dramatic shift with new regulations limiting individual purchases at wholesalers to just US$1,000 save for licensed retailers.
This, on the surface, aims to formalize the supply chain, but in reality, it throws a lifeline to struggling supermarkets while potentially suffocating wholesalers and manufacturers already reeling from the informal sector’s dominance.
The informal market, with its “tuck shops” accepting USD cash readily, has lured manufacturers away from formal retailers burdened by Zimdollars and extended credit terms.
While OK supermarkets claim only 20% of their sales are in forex, tuck shops flourish on USD transactions.
The government’s attempt to rectify this by forcing manufacturers to sell exclusively to wholesalers might backfire.
Wholesalers, already grappling with low business, now face the administrative burden of verifying customers’ tax compliance and potentially losing large informal market clients.
Manufacturers like Dairibord, heavily reliant on informal sales, could see profits dwindle.
This move could benefit big supermarkets like Pick n Pay by removing informal shop competition.
However, the question remains: can they keep prices low enough to compete with the readily available USD in tuck shops? The answer hinges on the government’s exchange rate policy.
If the official rate remains overvalued, supermarkets will struggle. Ultimately, the new regulations create a precarious balancing act.
Will they revitalize formal retailers or merely squeeze already struggling wholesalers and manufacturers further?
The answer will lie in whether the government addresses the underlying issue of exchange rate distortion and empowers formal businesses to compete on the informal sector’s turf.
This rewrite focuses on the potential consequences of the new regulations, with a fresh angle analyzing the power struggle between formal and informal sectors and the government’s role in shaping the outcome.
It presents the situation as a complex equation with uncertain results, leaving the reader to ponder the future of Zimbabwe’s shopping landscape.
Zimbabwe, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, has been facing the challenge of inconsistent rainfall patterns in recent years.
With agriculture being the backbone of the economy, this unpredictability in weather conditions has greatly affected the country’s food security and economic stability.
Due to changing climatic conditions, Zimbabwe has been experiencing prolonged dry spells, followed by heavy rains and floods, resulting in crop failures and destruction of infrastructure.
This has not only affected the livelihoods of the rural population who heavily rely on rain-fed agriculture, but also the urban population who depend on the rural areas for food supply.
The government and farmers in Zimbabwe are now wary and have been forced to adapt to these unpredictable rainfall patterns by implementing climate-smart agriculture techniques and investing in resilient infrastructure.
However, with the ongoing global climate crisis, it remains a constant challenge for Zimbabwe to mitigate the effects of inconsistent rainfall patterns and ensure food security for its citizens.

The development of our mother nation rests on ourselves, guided by our foreign policy Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none. Sanctions have become part of us in as much as we continue to call for their unconditional removal, we are not deterred. These sanctions came about as a result of us taking back our land.
I am happy that the churches are supporting developmental programmes being implemented across the nation and are calling for the removal of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe. We have managed to have bumper harvest throughout the six years under the Second Republic. We are now wheat self sufficient because of our policies. We must be self confident and feed ourselves.
We as Government continue to thank the Almighty God for the blessings of peace, unity and progress. We continue to build our nation by ourselves, Hwange unit 7 and 8, Robert Gabriel Mugabe Airport, New Parliament Building, Beitbridge Harare road to mention only a few. We used to seek for help to construct our nation but realised that Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.
Lets learn to build our nation, this is the philosophy we are giving our people. We have 35 000 villages, all of them must have solar powered boreholes within the five year period ahead.
Sanctions have made us think outside the box, Zimbabwe has the fastest growing economy in Southern Africa. Every sector of our economy is improving through improvement of the ease of doing business.
I urge all Zimbabweans to unite and develop the nation. We are here to recieve spiritual guidance to develop our country.
The Bible says faith without works is dead. I therefore call upon you to have faith accompanied with good works. God blesses those who work. I want to thank his Grace Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi for organizing us to meet here. I want to thank the Lord for allowing me to be here, some are not here whom we had last year. With these remarks l wish all of you a prosperous new year.
May Zimbabwe remain a peaceful and properous country, God bless you all, God bless Zimbabwe, l thank you.

**Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe** – By Farai D Hove | A critical environmental crisis has emerged along the Mupfure River in Mashonaland Central, triggering serious concerns over ecological destruction and its repercussions on the local populace and wildlife.
Deep pits gored
Former Environment Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, has sounded the alarm regarding the alarming environmental degradation near Mt Darwin, located merely 2 kilometers upstream from the main water supply of the town. “The situation is dire. Minister M Ndhlovu and the Ministry of Environment must intervene urgently, as the communities along the Mupfure River, along with their livestock, are facing severe exposure,” Kasukuwere emphasized.
Disturbing images have surfaced, showing vast galleys and pits, clearly formed by extensive mining operations. These mining activities are reportedly conducted by machinery owned by Tongai Mnangagwa, a nephew of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, which raises questions about the role of political connections in this environmental disaster.
Joana Mamombe, the Portfolio Chairperson, has pledged to take decisive action on this matter. “We are witnessing an environmental disaster. The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) needs to act immediately to avert a full-blown catastrophe. The lives of both humans and animals relying on the river are in grave danger,” declared Mamombe.
The success of these initiatives, however, remains in question, particularly given that Tongai Mnangagwa is the prime suspect in this illegal mining operation. He is accused of encroaching upon the Mukaradzi mining area and significantly contributing to the environmental degradation with his Chinese associates. A comment from the account @CCCintelligenc highlighted the intricate dynamics at play: “They’re involved with EMA too,” hinting at possible conflicts of interest within the environmental agency.
The community now anxiously awaits effective measures to be implemented to hold those responsible accountable and to address the extensive environmental damage inflicted on the Mupfure River.

A passenger jet has caught fire on the runway at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The Japan Coast Guard has confirmed that one of its aircraft collided with the Airbus A350 belonging to Japan Airlines shortly before it burst into flames.
The airline revealed that there were 367 passengers and 12 crew on board Flight 516 when the fire broke out. All of them have been evacuated, with no reports of injuries so far.
The Japan Coast Guard said that there were six crew on board a fixed-wing plane that collided with the passenger jet. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department later confirmed that five of them had died, with one more person seriously injured.
The Airbus A350 was conducting a domestic flight when the fire broke out at around 6pm local time on Tuesday.
NHK showed several fire engines battling the flames that engulfed the plane. Fire and thick black smoke could be seen billowing out of the windows and exits.
According to Haneda Airport representatives, all runways have been closed since around 6pm local time.
#Wakabvuta. “
In a dramatic post-election turn of events, Cowdray Park, a bustling suburb of Bulawayo, is now reeling under the weight of multiple service denials. This comes in the wake of the residents’ decision to not elect Mthuli Ncube, a prominent economist and Finance and Economic Development Minister, as their parliamentary representative.
The suburb, which saw a surge of development projects during the election campaign, spearheaded by Ncube, is now experiencing a stark reversal. Notably, the free WiFi service, a hallmark of Ncube’s campaign, has been disconnected, marking the beginning of a series of service withdrawals that appear to be punitive measures for the election outcome.
The disconnection of WiFi is just the tip of the iceberg. Cowdray Park residents are now contending with a series of escalating challenges: deteriorating road conditions, acute water shortages, and prolonged electricity outages. These issues are compounded by the high cost of living, particularly the soaring prices of food essentials.
This situation has raised concerns among the residents and community leaders. They perceive these service denials as a direct response to their electoral decision, which saw Ncube losing to Pashor Sibanda of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). Despite the political shift, with Arthur Mujeyi of Zanu PF now representing the area, the promised development projects have ground to a halt.
Local voices, including community leaders and the Bulawayo United Residents Association officials, interviewed by CITE express frustration and disappointment. They recall the flurry of activities and promises made by Ncube during his campaign, including road rehabilitation, borehole drilling, and electricity grid connections, which are now either abandoned or inoperative.
Former MP Sibanda and current councilor Nkosilathi Hove Mpofu both stress the need for sustainable and consultative development. However, with the abrupt stoppage of these services and projects, there is a growing sentiment of being punished for the democratic choice made by the residents.
This unfolding scenario in Cowdray Park, a suburb larger in population than some of Zimbabwe’s notable towns, reflects a broader narrative of political retribution impacting basic services in urban areas. The disconnection of WiFi, symbolizing a broader withdrawal of services, raises critical questions about the intersection of politics and community development in Zimbabwe.- CITE

By James Gwati – In a devastating incident, Dr. Tinotenda Madzima, a 30-year-old Medical Doctor stationed at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital in Mashonaland West, lost his life after being struck by a dislodged truck tyre.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the tragic road traffic accident, which occurred on January 3, 2024, at around 0700 hours along the Harare-Chirundu Road, specifically at the 116-kilometer peg.
The fatal accident unfolded as Dr. Madzima was walking along the road when a wheel dislodged from a moving Scania haulage truck, striking him on the back.
By Sports Reporter – Soccer enthusiasts face disappointment as Multichoice, the parent company of SuperSport, announces that the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Ivory Coast will not be aired on the popular sports channel.
In a recent statement, Multichoice cited SuperSport’s failure to secure the broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated tournament.
The statement from Multichoice reads, “SuperSport Channel will not broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] 2023 scheduled for January 13th – February 11th, 2024, because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament.”
Despite this setback, Multichoice assures fans that AFCON 2024 games will still be accessible through partner broadcast stations on Free to Air [FTA] channels.
The company reaffirms its commitment to providing fans across Africa with unparalleled access to entertainment and football games through DStv and GOtv platforms, showcasing prestigious competitions such as the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Zambian Super League, and more.
The absence of the 2024 Afcon finals on SuperSport marks a significant development in the broadcasting landscape, prompting soccer enthusiasts to explore alternative channels for their football fix during this highly anticipated tournament.
By James Gwati – The Thabo Mbeki Foundation has dismissed as false and misleading statements that the former President of South Africa has died.
Social media was flooded with information on Wednesday alleging the demise of former South African President Thabo Mbeki.
The Foundation swiftly dispelled the rumours, confirming Mbeki’s good health.
The Foundation’s statement reads as follows:
“Statement Regarding President Thabo Mbeki’s Health The Thabo Mbeki Foundation is aware of recent, unfounded reports circulating on social media regarding the health of the Patron of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, President Thabo Mbeki. By- Teachers in Zimbabwe are planning weekly protests against increased tuition fees for government schools and poor remuneration for their profession.
Obert Masaraure, the president of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), has appealed to citizens to join in these weekly protests at each bus stop countrywide every Monday.
Masaraure argues that the recently gazetted tuition fees are both retrogressive and unconstitutional, emphasizing that every Zimbabwean has the right to primary state-funded education as outlined in the constitution.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, headed by Minister Torerayi Moyo, recently disclosed fees ranging from $5 to $20 per term, specified in US dollars but payable in the local currency at the prevailing exchange rate on the payment date.
Concerns from parents, particularly those facing economic hardships, have heightened as they grapple with increased taxes and levies introduced in the 2024 budget, coupled with the augmented tuition fees.
One concerned parent, Tatenda Chekai, shared frustrations, stating, “It is, however, unfair for the government to increase the tuition fees because of the current economic situation. The increase is retrogressive, and this is not expected from our government.”
The government’s commitment to free education, mandated by the 2020 Education Amendment Act, still needs to be fulfilled. President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed this law, obligating the State to provide free primary education, a constitutional provision outlined in section 27.
Despite promises, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube asserted that transitioning to free education requires careful assessment, planning, and implementation, acknowledging that this process may take time.
As parents voice their concerns over the financial burden imposed by these measures, the call for weekly bus stop protests gains momentum, adding pressure on the government to address the accessibility of education in Zimbabwe.

By ICT Reporter- Technology programmers have reported an increase in cyber attacks targeting Zimbabwean websites, notably those lacking SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) or TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption.
This surge in hacking activities is believed to be motivated by political differences, a trend that has become increasingly prevalent locally and internationally.
This has been noted by a local ICT engineer, Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi, who below describes this problem and offers solutions:
As from the 1st of January 2024, it seems hackers have been targeting Zimbabwe’s websites considering the number of calls we have received so far.
To bolster cybersecurity and curb these attacks, organizations in Zimbabwe are strongly advised to adopt SSL/TLS encryption, a globally recognized security protocol that safeguards data transmission between web servers and users’ browsers.
SSL/TLS encryption, although not specific to any country, serves as a crucial security measure globally, ensuring the protection of sensitive information such as login credentials, financial details, and personal information.
It is imperative for individual domain and website owners in Zimbabwe to take immediate steps in implementing SSL/TLS to fortify their connections and protect user data.
Several factors contribute to the slow adoption of SSL/TLS encryption among Zimbabwean organizations:
Lack of Awareness: Some website owners may not fully grasp the significance of SSL/TLS encryption and the potential risks associated with unsecured connections.
Cost and Technical Barriers: The implementation of SSL/TLS involves obtaining and renewing SSL certificates, incurring costs and requiring technical expertise. Small businesses or individuals with limited resources may face challenges in acquiring and maintaining these certificates.
Legacy Systems: Outdated systems may lack built-in support for SSL/TLS encryption, necessitating complex implementation or significant system upgrades.
Development or Maintenance Neglect: Website owners, in some instances, may have neglected to update their websites or failed to prioritize security measures, including SSL/TLS implementation.
Domain and website owners across Zimbabwe must recognize the critical importance of SSL/TLS encryption and promptly take measures to implement it, safeguarding their domains, emails, websites, and users’ data. Additionally, web users are advised to exercise caution when accessing websites lacking SSL/TLS encryption, especially when sharing sensitive information.

#Wakabvuta. “
Subject: Corruption and Abuse of Power in the Harare Traffic Department
I am writing this letter to bring attention to a grave issue that has been plaguing the transport operators in Harare, Zimbabwe.
As a concerned citizen and a transport operator myself, I believe it is crucial to shed light on the rampant corruption and abuse of power within the Harare Traffic Department.Recently, a police blitz on illegal transporters took place, during which all of my fully registered vehicles were arrested.
Astonishingly, my vehicles possess all the necessary documents that allow them to operate legally.
However, I was informed by a runner, supposedly acting on behalf of Superintendent Terence Tichaona Majongosi of the Harare Traffic Department, that the arrests were made because I failed to comply with their demands.
When I inquired about the nature of these demands, I was told that I had to provide financial contributions to certain individuals, namely Longaz, Mukoma Benji, and GM School, who allegedly collect money for an illegal cartel associated with the Harare Traffic Department.
What is particularly disconcerting is that these illegal cartels are reportedly extorting approximately USD150 per week from transport operators, claiming that the funds ultimately find their way into the pockets of the Harare Traffic Department’s higher-ups.
Furthermore, transport operators like myself are already burdened with daily fees, making it increasingly difficult to sustain our livelihoods in an environment plagued by corruption.
I am deeply troubled by the fact that those responsible for enforcing the law seem to be the ones abusing their power and exploiting honest citizens.
It raises the question: if those who are meant to protect the law are involved in such activities, who can we turn to for justice and protection?
I have previously attempted to raise this issue through numerous letters to mainstream and private media outlets, but it appears that they may be linked with the very individuals perpetuating this corruption.
Hence, I implore you, ZimEye, to publish this letter and give voice to the concerns of countless transport operators who are suffering under the weight of this systemic corruption.
I earnestly appeal to the relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry responsible for addressing such matters, to investigate these allegations thoroughly and take decisive action to eradicate corruption within the Harare Traffic Department.
It is high time that justice prevails, and the rights of law-abiding citizens are protected. In conclusion, I firmly believe that by exposing this corruption and shedding light on the abuse of power within the Harare Traffic Department, we can collectively work towards a more just and equitable society.

This article explores the various aspects of rugby’s impact on South African society.
The Origins and Growth of Rugby in South Africa
Rugby in South Africa can be dated back to the late 19th century, the first recorded rugby match took place in 1862. The sport was introduced by British colonisers and quickly gained popularity among locals. Once rugby clubs were established, the game began to spread across the country.
In the years that followed, rugby became more and more popular and is now one of the most widely followed sports in South Africa. The national team, known as the Springboks, has repeatedly achieved great success on the international stage. This success further fuelled the growth and popularisation of rugby in the country and led to more support throughout the country. It’s even joined the world of gambling, rugby betting is now more popular than ever.
The Role of Rugby in Promoting Unity and Nation-Building
Rugby has played a crucial role in promoting unity and nation-building in South Africa. During the apartheid era, rugby was predominantly played by white South Africans. Since the end of apartheid, the sport has become more inclusive, with players from diverse racial backgrounds representing the national team. The sport has been used as a tool to bring people from different backgrounds together and foster a sense of national pride. The Springboks’ victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup, portrayed in the movie “Invictus,” is a prime example of how rugby can unite a nation.
The sport has become deeply ingrained in the South African identity. The Springboks’ green and gold jersey is instantly recognisable and is a symbol of national pride. The sport is celebrated and revered by South Africans of all backgrounds, and supporting the national team is a unifying experience that transcends racial and cultural divides.
The Economic and Social Impact of Rugby in South Africa
Rugby has a significant economic impact in South Africa. The sport generates revenue through ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships and broadcasting rights. Major rugby events attract tourists from around the world, boosting the tourism industry and contributing to the country’s economy.
Rugby has also had a profound social impact on South African communities. The sport provides opportunities for individuals to come together, form friendships and build a sense of belonging. Rugby clubs often serve as community hubs, offering support and mentorship to young players and promoting social cohesion. The sport provides an avenue for young people to develop discipline, teamwork and leadership skills. Rugby programs in schools and communities offer opportunities for personal growth and provide a positive outlet for young individuals, keeping them engaged and away from negative influences.
Former Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has defended popular musician Winky D following who has been facing heavy attacks from pro-Zanu PF activists over his social and political commentary.
Winky D crossed path with ruling party activists when he churned out lyrics that appeared to speak on the August harmonised elections in which Emmerson Mnangagwa was controversially declared the winner in a plebiscite condemned by the regional bloc SADC.
Posting on Twitter, Mliswa who is no stranger to controversy said attacking an artist for speaking out was unnecessary.
He said Winky D should be allowed to do his music without undue pressure from those who don’t appreciate his art.
“With each silly post against him I’m tempted even more to attend Winky D’s next gig. Maybe he is the one to wean me from my favourite, Amapiano. Has he become so big that even maProfessor are uncomfortable. Leave him to use his talent please hapana waabira,” said Mliswa.
“At some point we need maturity, unity& less toxicity as a country. The kind of excitable frothing on these streets, on the Winky D issue, even from high offices isn’t becoming of a serious nation. Others are hoisting their children to greater heights while we drag down our own,” he added.
Mliswa also reigned in on controversial preacher Passion Java saying his misleading attack on Winky D was meant to create a false impression about the artist who did not wrong anyone.
“There is no need for this misleading attack moreso by someone who is a Pastor. Let’s not contrive to create false perception about this artist. Wani mune mari dzenyu Pastor madirei kuita zvakadai nhai. Atadzei Winky? Hazvidi pamunhu waMwari,” said Mliswa.

Bishop Ancelimo Magaya of the Zimbabwe Divine Destiny (ZDD) has slammed local church leaders who attended the National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service held in Bulawayo on Sunday, 31 December 2023.
The 7th edition of the annual National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service was held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds.
The event was attended by several prominent clerics, among them Faith for the Nation Campaign (FANA) chairperson Reverend Andrew Wutawunashe, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi of the Zion Christian Church, and Bishop Patrick Mahachi, among others.
However, Bishop Magaya criticised the religious leaders for attending the event yet they failed to speak out against the alleged abduction of political activists linked to opposition parties and injustices committed by those in power.
Posting on X, Bishop Magaya said God “hates” such gatherings because they are designed to hero-worship politicians are who behind the oppression of the people.
He said:It is hypocrisy as it is an abomination for Church leaders to gather in Bulawayo for thanksgiving under the faith of the nation at a time when abductions, murders with impunity, and all forms of injustices are rife and fail to issue prophetic indictment.
As far as God is concerned, He disdains, detests and hates such gatherings designed to shower praises to a politician at whose behest the aforesaid injustices are committed, thereby strengthening the hands of the eve (Jer 23:14).
Any assembling, offerings and worshipping that do not have at their centre condemnation of injustices are not worth their salt.
The Thanksgiving meeting is thus a nullity before God. Let justice flow like a never-ending stream. (Amos 5:24).In June 2022, Bishop Magaya was arrested by the police while he was in the middle of leading prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity.
He was seized from his Rotten Row church premises by armed anti-riot officers, who arrested 36 more people in attendance.More: Pindula News
By James Gwati – The Harare Passport office is embroiled in a corruption scandal, with reports emerging of officers demanding bribes from applicants seeking urgent passports.
The Civil Registry Department’s struggle to clear the mounting backlog has led to chaos and allegations of bribery within the government agency.
On Monday, pandemonium ensued at the Harare Passport office as an influx of Zimbabweans, grappling with economic hardships, flooded the premises in a bid to secure travel documents.
Disturbing accounts revealed that individuals queuing for the essential documents were being solicited for bribes ranging from US$30 to US$50 as facilitation fees.
During the holiday season, the Passport office experienced a surge in new applications and renewals, with schoolchildren and members of the diaspora constituting a significant portion of the applicant pool.
Despite the Civil Registry’s efforts to process applications before the year’s end, maintaining the previous fee structure of US$120 for an ordinary passport, the reality on the ground contradicted official claims of clearing the backlog.
Numerous hopeful applicants, anticipating the receipt of their passports, were reportedly turned away.
Official statistics disclosed that a staggering 92,313 Zimbabweans applied for e-passports between December 1 and December 31 of the preceding year.
Originally slated to increase to US$200 on January 1, ordinary passport fees were later revised to US$150.
As of the latest report, fees remain unchanged, with officials citing delays in implementing proposed national budget fee figures.
Amidst this turmoil, only those collecting processed passports and entry numbers were granted entry into the department, underscoring the mounting pressure on government services.
The revelations illuminate the urgent need for a streamlined and efficient passport processing system to cope with the escalating demand, as the state of affairs continues to raise serious concerns.
By James Gwati- The Civil Registry Department finds itself in disarray as an overwhelming surge of Zimbabweans, driven by economic hardships, flood the passport office, seeking a way out of the country.
Amid the chaos, the Harare passport office reluctantly claimed to have cleared the 2023 passport backlog, a statement met with scepticism.
During the holiday season, they witnessed a significant spike in new passport applications and renewals, with schoolchildren and members of the diaspora constituting a substantial portion of the applicant pool.
The Civil Registry, facing immense pressure, aimed to process these applications before the year’s end, sticking to the previous fee structure of US$120 for an ordinary passport.
Despite assertions of clearing the backlog, yesterday’s reality at the passport office told a different story.
Many hopeful applicants, with expectations of receiving their passports, were turned away.
According to official statistics, a staggering 92,313 Zimbabweans applied for e-passports between December 1 and December 31 of the previous year.
Originally slated to rise to US$200 on January 1, ordinary passport fees were later revised to US$150.
As of yesterday, the fees had not been adjusted, with officials citing the delay in implementing the proposed national Budget fee figures.

The scene underscores the mounting pressure on government services and the urgent need for a streamlined and efficient passport processing system to accommodate the increasing demand. -State media
By Investigate Correspondent| On Tue 2nd Jan 2024, a businessman phoned ZimEye saying a Nigerian Govenor wishes to sponsor the self proclaimed inventor Maxwell Chikumbutso and they are requesting his contacts.
ZimEye provided an expert verification service over Mr Chikumbutso and the summary report is as follows:
For 8 years Maxwell Chikumbutso says the govt of Zimbabwe will arrest him over his free-energy chopper, drone, and car; His helicopter could by now have ambulance-d thousands of accident victims and 8 years later he’s busy enjoying meetings with Africa’s worst dictator and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga; Upon visiting his home, ZimEye finds his residential property obtaining ZESA electricity supply like all other ordinary citizens. Our reporter asks to purchase one of his drones, and his response is that he is afraid of getting arrested for flying drones without permission, something which govt critics like Winky D and Simba Chikanza do even onto the President’s office window without hindrance. He says he cannot produce the car he showed the @SABCNews in 2015, because he dismantled it, and the chopper he also displayed back then is nowhere to be seen.
In interviews with ZimEye, he talks more about poison attacks against him than explaining any of his inventions. For years he has convinced people that inventors especially Africans who defy the laws of science are poisoned, while contemporary local Africans of his age group like Zimbabwean @william_sachiti and the SAn @elonmusk are producing their automative inventions without hindrance. ZimEye has for 8 years been ready to set up meetings of Chikumbutso with tried and tested industry colleagues- ZimEye has offered to help connect Chikumbutso with Sachiti and Elon Musk, who are busy producing their inventions while Chikumbutso instead of teaming up with these real-scientific innovators, choses rather to spend 8 years secretly meeting Emmerson Mnangagwa, who seized state power by fooling the army that he had been poisoned in November 2017.
In the interview (video below), he reveals to ZimEye that the Americans who visited him and claimed to have tested his free electricity, are no scientists at all, they are just fiction movie (sci-fi) producers.
Max Chikumbutso also reveals that he is connected to and regularly meets false prophets the likes of the GoldMafia implicated, Uebert Angel, and Emmanuel Makandiwa. He is also asked about his suggestions to appoint Uebert Angel the Prime Minister Of Zimbabwe.
That Chikumbutso chooses to spend years meeting a political trickster, fiction film producers, and false prophets seems to speak a lot about his priorities and the nature of his free energy invention, that has proven to be mere imaginative science fiction with which he continues to generate Internet fame, through baseless victimhood.
ZimEye’s advisory on Maxwell Chikumbutso is to stay away from him and if one wishes to do anything, whatever that is, it has to be the task of exposing his trickeries which have been accompanied by the death of at least 2 prominent people.- ZimEye

ZANU PF has praised its leadership and the Second Republic for scoring big in the agricultural sector as well as on the political front.
In a statement this Monday, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador, Christopher Mutsvangwa said President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the party have scored big in farming and agro-processing sectors.
This comes after bumper harvests in maize, wheat and tobacco sub-sectors in 2023, while government support has seen horticultural ventures, particularly for blueberry thriving and contributing towards the country’s export receipts.
“Firstly, defying all geopolitical obstacles, ZANU-PF scored a landmark election victory in the national vote of August 2023. The win sends a clear message of national unity and political stability as the bedrock of national economic development and assured progress towards Vision 2030 and the sure prospect of middle-income status by 2030.
“The President and the party have notched up pleasing scores in farming and agro-processing. Well-deserved kudos go to our tobacco, wheat, cotton and blueberry farmers among many other winning contenders.
“To all players we say salut!!! The President scored new highs in attracting world-class capital to open up and exploit our treasure trove of mining riches of gold, iron ore, coke from thermal coal, lithium, platinum group metals and diamonds,” he said.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa said President Mnangagwa had a busy 2023 commissioning of large-scale infrastructure projects that include the New Parliament Building, and the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport Expansion project.
“To cap it all was the end-of-year announcement of the discovery of natural gas in Muzarabani and the tantalizing prospects of liquid petroleum.
President Mnangagwa had a busy schedule throughout the year cutting ribbons on a slew of large-scale infrastructure projects. The President of the Republic continues to hold onto his mantra; “Zimbabwe Is Open for Business.”
On the diplomatic front, President Mnangagwa’s government was commended for forging ahead with the engagement and re-engagement policy.
This comes after the second Republic’s ‘friends to all, enemy to none’ stance saw the President attending the first ever Saudi Arabia-Africa Heads of State Summit in Riyad as the country seeks to also court investors from the Middle East.
“The hallowed foreign policy of engagement and re-engagement has reassured our tried and tested partners. Concurrently, it won over once die-hard detractors. Above all, it broke new ground with friends in the Global South. There indeed was a diplomatic flourish as President Mnangagwa graced the first-ever Saudi Arabia-Africa Heads of State Summit in Riyad.
“Bilateral relations binding the twin economies of Mozambique and Zimbabwe are reaching out to ever closer cooperation in logistics, power and other domains. This positive trajectory bodes well for sub-regional SADC and the fledgling AfCTA trading blocs. All these achievements coalesce into a glowing scoreboard,” said Ambassador Mutsvangwa.
Still, in 2023, ZANU PF recorded a resounding victory in the August 23 general elections and Ambassador Mutsvangwa credited the victory to the able leadership of President Mnangagwa.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has congratulated the Democratic Republic of Congo’s President-elect, Dr Félix Tshisekedi for winning the December 20 elections.

*Gabhadiya Sithule’s Qoki Groceries Rebrands*: Amidst UK Banks’ Criticism of $25 Million Fraud Allegations.
By Nancy Ndaba | On December 20, 2023, Qoki Groceries swiftly rebranded as Isiphala Samanina in response to ongoing fraudulent land parceling deals. Spearheaded by Sisa Khumalo and her sister Sithenjisiwe Khumalo since 2018, the project, which always utilized the Qoki Zindlovukazi logo, has taken an unexpected turn. The rebranding appears as a desperate attempt to salvage the crowdfunded project’s reputation, akin to closing the barn door after Sithule’s Qoki boat has already sunk. Several Bulawayo community groups and individuals are disassociating themselves from the alleged fraudulent activities of Gabhadiya Sithule.
Qoki’s new name after being exposed
The situation intensifies with the resignations of key figures, Karen Kumalo and Walter Motsi. Notably, at the Zimbabwe company house, Qoki’s documentation of their resignations has grown legs, adding intrigue. Surprisingly, neither Karen Kumalo, Walter Motsi, nor Sithule Tshuma have officially communicated these seemingly backdated resignations to investors and stakeholders. In another Qoki Zindlovukazi Furniture group, on 1st of December 2023 Lebo Tasha, announced her immediate resignation stating ‘ Ladies, it’s been a pleasure, please exit all other groups…’
Green shame…Sithule Tshuma
The scandal, totaling $25 million, takes a more concerning turn as UK banks face criticism for not flagging suspicious transactions earlier. Substantial sums were deposited into Qoki Directors Karen Kumalo and Sithule Tshuma’s UK personal bank accounts in Halifax, Santander, and Barclays, raising concerns about banking oversight. This disconcerting revelation prompts questions about the effectiveness of the banking system in early detecting and preventing such fraudulent activities.
Bridget Dube’s big smile over stolen monies
While most banks have classified the Qoki saga as a significant fraudulent scam, the importance of early intervention by UK banks, Action Fraud, HMRC, and the Financial Ombudsman in flagging fraudsters and scams cannot be overstated. Timely identification and reporting of suspicious transactions are crucial to mitigating financial losses and protecting investors. A global approach serves as a deterrent to fraud scams like Qoki, emphasizing the need for international cooperation in combating financial crimes. Interpol’s role becomes significant in bringing fraudsters to justice, transcending borders to ensure accountability.
Reflecting on the money laundering and tax evasion allegations against Sithule and Karen, it highlights the broader issue of financial impropriety. The investigation into these aspects adds complexity to the unfolding saga, emphasizing the imperative for stringent measures against illicit financial activities. As the Qoki scandal unfolds, the interconnectedness of global financial systems underscores the necessity for collaborative efforts to prevent, detect, and prosecute fraudulent activities on an international scale.

The charitable move comes amid tensions that have lingered since 2018 when Morgan Tsvangirai passed away. Speculations have arisen that Chamisa’s donations may be an attempt to mend the strained relationship with Gogo Tsvangirai.
During Tsvangirai’s funeral wake, Gogo Tsvangirai had explicitly expressed her desire to disassociate from Chamisa, even threatening to take drastic measures if he attended the funeral.
Chamisa’s New Year offering not only symbolizes a compassionate outreach but also prompts questions about reconciliation within the Zimbabwean political landscape.
As the CCC leader extends this heartfelt gesture, it remains to be seen whether it will contribute to healing the rift that has existed since the passing of the esteemed champion of democracy.
By Showbiz Reporter – Zimbabwe’s renowned musician, Winky D, born Wallace Chirumiko, has sent shockwaves through the Zanu PF regime with his powerful New Year performance that dared to speak truth to power.
The acclaimed artist took center stage at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on New Year’s Eve, delivering a mesmerizing performance that left the audience spellbound.
However, this display of musical prowess has not only garnered admiration but also stirred controversy, with accusations emerging that Winky D is using his music as a platform to launch critiques against the ruling Zanu PF party.
In a lyrical stance, Winky D explicitly reminds the state of the ongoing trend of Zimbabweans seeking better opportunities abroad, amplifying a poignant social message.
Known for his thought-provoking lyrics and socially conscious themes, Winky D has consistently been recognized as a voice for the people.
His ability to address pressing societal issues through music has earned him a significant following, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in Zimbabwe’s music scene.
In the aftermath of Winky D’s performance, several Zanu PF bootlickers took to social media to issue threats against the musician.
Notable figures among these detractors include the former Editor of The Herald, Ceasar Zvayi, controversial preacher Passion Java, and exiled former Zanu PF government propagandist Professor Jonathan Moyo.
Additionally, various ghost Zanu social media accounts have joined the chorus of criticism.
As the dust settles from Winky D’s New Year revelations, accusations and threats fly in the face of the regime, underscoring the power of music as a platform for social commentary and dissent.
The controversy surrounding the musician further ignites the ongoing debate on artistic expression and freedom of speech in Zimbabwe’s dynamic political landscape.

By James Gwati – In a noteworthy revelation, ZimEye.com has dispelled rumours circulating on social media that the late senior Bindura Municipality Engineer, Muzondiwa Mushambi, had hired the woman with whom he shared his final intimate moment.
Contrary to the speculations, it has been established that the woman, identified as Natasha, was not hired but rather someone the engineer was in a committed relationship with.
Natasha, residing along Mugaragunguwo Road in the high-density Chiwaridzo suburb, was not a mere hire for a fleeting encounter, as suggested on social media.
Locals were reportedly well aware of the enduring romantic involvement between Engineer Mushambi and Natasha.
While the marital status of the late senior Municipal worker is yet to be confirmed, sources affirm the long-standing love relationship between Natasha and Mushambi.
Criticizing the unfounded claims, a local elderly woman stated, “It is not only unfair to say Natasha had been hired on a fateful day, but malicious and insensitive and damaging to this lady, whom the whole community knows was in love with Mushambi.”
Another middle-aged woman from the same neighbourhood emphasized, “If we are to be honest and respectful to people’s affairs, we must not be saying what we are seeing on social media. These two had a steady relationship which everyone here knows.”
Despite the clarification on the nature of their relationship, it has been confirmed that Engineer Mushambi succumbed to complications, possibly related to his diabetic condition, during what witnesses described as an enjoyable moment with his long-time partner, Natasha.
The late engineer had been grappling with diabetes, a prevalent health concern affecting millions globally.
Speculations suggest that unexpected spikes in his blood sugar levels during the encounter might have contributed to the tragic outcome.
Diabetes, characterized by elevated blood sugar levels, poses challenges for individuals in managing their health, especially during moments of excitement or stress.
As the Bindura community mourns the sudden loss of a respected figure, the passing of Engineer Muzondiwa Mushambi serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of managing chronic health conditions.
The incident underscores the potential risks associated with intimate encounters for individuals with pre-existing medical issues, particularly diabetes.
While questions persist about the specific details surrounding his demise, the tragedy emphasizes the imperative for heightened awareness and education regarding health conditions like diabetes.
As Bindura grapples with the grief of losing a prominent community member, the focus shifts to fostering a better understanding of health management for a safer and healthier community.
In February and March 2023 Al Jazeera produced a documentary that provides shocking evidence of how minerals in Zimbabwe are being smuggled out of the country for a song. The revelation provided further proof of why Gold production inspite of contributing more than 33% of mineral production in Zimbabwe only contributes less than 1 % tax revenue. The documentary showed how a well oiled state sponsored machinery is using money laundering tactics to smuggle the precious mineral to Dubai and other places . But perhaps the most shocking revelation was that Wmmedson Mnangagwa himself was fingered as being the king pin of the smuggling ring. As usual inspite of being presented with insurmountable evidence to date no arrest or public enquiries were undertaken instead the looting continues
2- Economic comatose
2023 has been probably the worst year in the last 5 years economically speaking Zimbabwe . According to Prof@Stevehanke Zimbabwe has been trending as the country with the worst inflation in the world for most of 2023 at times reaching more than 900%. This has manifested in extreme poverty with 42% of the country being put on hunger watch for the first quarter of 2024. As a result productivity has slowed due with agriculture production being hard hit with Zimbabwe not able to meet their maize requirements . Wheat farmers continue to face delayed payments ….
3/ Continued Persecution, abduction , harassment, torture and murder of activists….
In 2023 the continued incarceration of Job Sikhala is a stain on democracy in Zimbabwe . Job has served 2 years in prison without a conviction. He has so far been acquitted for 2 of his cases but remains in prison . The opposition and international agencies have all made a call for his release which has been ignored by the regime . This year also saw Jacob Ngarivhume being arrested for 8 months only for him to be acquitted in the Supreme Court (??) … On …. Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya was abducted by identified aisalants from Zanu Pf he was to be found two days later murdered. No investigation or arrests have been made. In … An opposition activist was murdered while going to attend a rally ahead of the elections it is believed he was murdeeed by zanu pf youth . Students activist continued to be arrested and harassed arbitrarily by police…
4/ failed election reform
After 42 years of misrule zanu pf priced once again that they have no appetite for a democratic state. The world over was watching to see if Zimbabwe would have any electoral reform as it delivered 23 August general election …. However unanimous commentary concluded the elections were not fair and not credible . In an unprecedented standard voters were queuing for more than 24 hours on election day . Also the case of Bulawayo 22 whom were initially removed from the ballots after nominations so court and were later reinstated following Supreme Court appeal . Continue assisted voting , voter harassment by FAZ especially in rural areas … Chiefs etc
Human rights and election reform were both precursors to the debt crisis reform. The failure to address this has meant Zimbabwe cannot get the assistance it requires.
5. failure to alleviate water crisis … the zanu pf Gvt gas failed to supply clean and safe water . The biggest testament to this has been the Current cholera crisis. This outbreak first struck back in February and as October ended official figures from the Health and Childcare Department are listing nearly 6,000 cases and some 123 suspected deaths. Cholera is cheap to treat with rehydration salts – and easy to avoid altogether if people have access to clean water and decent toilet facilities.
6. Failure to address electricity shortage
Zimbabweans electricity crisis appeared to superficially ease of between march and June I.e. in the period ahead of elections . However inspite of spending over US$1.4bn Zimbabwe continues to rely on the old units to generate less than half what the country requires. The thermal units are consistently failing which means at times even the half that is anticipated isn’t produced.
7. further subjugation of the people’s will
Following the election September 2023 witnessed the onset of a bizarre set of events. In these events a state sponsored proxy was used to facilitate the recall of CCC members of parliament who had been voted for and sworn in just less than a month before. Inspite of CCC vehemently stating to the speaker of parliament that this was an unknown assailant without recourse the actions of their letter were upheld by the speaker . This was the beginning of an onslaught on CCC which carries on to date. It beggars belief that the courts have also been used by the state in this plot. The extent to which courts have been used include the delivery of midnight judgements to take ccc candidates off the ballots to ensure default wins for zanu pf . Never in the history of this country has such blatant demonisation of the people suffrage rights. One of the default zanu pf wins ( I.e. was not elected m) has been someone who was also identified in the hold mafua documentary as an ‘official smuggler’ Scott sakupwanya is not zanu pf mp for Mabvuku which is a zanu pf strong hold ….
2023 has shown zanu pf is not only incompetent but also doesn’t have the will to change things for the better in Zimbabwe ..

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee is reportedly keen to appoint young Dynamos Football Club mentor, Genesis Mangombe, as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe National Soccer team.
There are members of the ZIFA Normalisation Committee who are pushing for Mangombe’s appointment.
At only 40, Mangombe brings a fresh and innovative approach to the role and is seen as a perfect fit for the young and dynamic team.
His experience with Dynamos, one of the most successful clubs in Zimbabwe, has prepared him for this new challenge and his passion for the game is evident in his coaching style.
ZIFA believes that with Mangombe at the helm, the national team will have a promising future and can potentially achieve great success in both regional and international tournaments.
However, some soccer analysts have dismissed Mangombe’s supposed appointment indicating it’s tantamount to putting too much in the young gaffer’s plate.

By A Correspondent| Judiciary Services Commission secretary Walter Chikwanha is accused of prejudicing the government US$34 million.
Chikwanha, who is believed to be one of Susan Mutami’s boyfriends, allegedly imported a platform called Online Tracking and Virtual System from Armenia in a deal that was done without following due processes, ZimEye can exclusively reveal.
The cost incurred thus far is said to be US$ 34 million.
The leaked dossier which ZimEye browsed through contained scathing allegations, which also implicated Chief Justice Luke Malaba in giving Chikwanha protection.
According to the dossier, “the system imported from Armenia didn’t t go for tender and at least US$34 million has been used so far.”
It is further alleged that the system is too heavy for our internet connectivity and is suitable for 5g network.
“JSC has remote courts which do not access the internet easily, such as Mtawatawa, Kezi and so forth.”
The system needs modern 5G compatible machines which the JSC does not have as they are still using the old computers donated by Danida in 2013.”
Chikwanha is also alleged to have received a ‘gift’ of a Toyota Landcruiser from Malaba to spy and ‘snitch’ on magistrates and judges so that he consolidated hegemony and total control of the judiciary.
It is further alleged that Chikwanha used part of the proceeds to build a multi-million dollar school in Crowhill.
Chikwanha, who hails from the Rosa area in Mashonaland Central, allegedly bought a farm in the Concession area where he has an expensive breed of Heifers.
Contents of the dossier further allege that Chikwanha bought an expensive car for his confidante and IT manager, identified only as Manyenga and he is the IT Manager.
He also allegedly bought an expensive farm in Makoni West with proceeds from the stinking deal.
“Chikwanha’s son Panashe has been given an office at JSC and a car and he is on salary pay roll but not an employee,” further reads the dossier.
There is a plethora of cases of sexual harassment perpetrated against female subordinates by Chikwanha, some of which involved marriage wrecking.
“Chikwanha has wrecked the marriage of a former Econet employee (name withheld) and promoted her to a post of Protocol Manager, she attended an interview of a receiptionist but got a higher post,” read the dossier. Right to respond?
Chikwanha was unavailable at the time of writing after relentless efforts.

However, responding to Zvayi’s remarks, veteran scribe Innocent Chofamba Sithole defended the Gafa President…
” Chief, you’re just expressing the typical intolerance of the authoritarian Zanu-PF regime towards artists who would dare make any social commentary that’s unfavourable to it!
You stand on the side of power so you will never appreciate any artist who speaks truth to power. You only appreciate such artists when they’re foreign or when the powers they address are also foreign.
So let’s not pretend you come with any objective lens to critically appreciate Winky D’s music. “

In business you invest with the aim of making profit long term and sustainable. Inorder to do that just make a small informal business by listing what you need with exact value don’t forget to include monitoring expenses identify a claim close to you or never invest . If you are still tempted to invest far increase scope of investment so that all you will be able to all final production activities month end . 2 nothing can replace your presence Gold is a currency that can be used without any purification or processing and around Zimbabwe you find gold nuggets of 5points upto 10kg your absence means you won’t be able to see it or account for production done using your own money. Be there from day one study everything learn all risks and rewards.
Your kids , wife and relatives are not you they can steal from you infact most gold related theft or lack of accountability is orchestrated by related especially the son or daughter in most cases l have come across.
Besides stealing they usually unknowingly disturb or sabotage production in the name of relative. All gold production ends are guarded by mine owner , sponsors or investors and workers nothing is left to chance.
3 avoid overspending on monitoring Avoid driving up and down to the mine in the name of monitoring because it’s useless and unnecessary unless you spend at least 6hrs of day time at the mine use public transport and avoid hiring transport for transactions that don’t need a car .
If you want to use a car increase your investment scope to accommodate the car .when ever gold pays you handsomely remember they are dark days ahead plan wisely and create proper backup.
