Government Prioritises Media Freedom

THE Government has come up with a raft of measures to guarantee the safety of media practitioners during the upcoming harmonised elections.

A few months before the country’s harmonised elections, the government is prioritising media freedom and the safety of journalists.

A forum on media and elections coverage convened in Harare this Friday saw the government noting various policies implemented under the second republic to ensure a conducive operating environment for journalists.

“During the elections, the Government of Zimbabwe will monitor closely the state of press freedom and the safety of journalists, much of this will be done by MICZ, BAZ, ZEC, civic society and the Ministry,” said the Chief Director in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Jonathan Gandari.

“Once any violations on journalists are reported, the government will investigate such specific issues and prosecution will be supported. International days such as World Press Freedom Day, and World Radio Day, among others are important and have in the past led to the repeal of laws impeding press freedom, and suggested ways of ensuring the safety of journalists and addressing the issue of impunity.

“The government recognised the importance of ensuring the safety of journalists in a structured way by enacting laws that would serve as a reference for media practice. On this front, the Government put in place institutions to strengthen the work of journalists including the Media Commission of Zimbabwe and the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe and during elections, the Electoral Act is clear on this.”

Legal frameworks governing electoral coverage also came under the spotlight and media practitioners are convinced that the steps taken by the government will allow them to carry out their duties without fear or favour.

“As media practitioners, we are excited that we are going to carry out our duties without fear and favour because the government assured us that we will be protected during the Election period,” said journalist Thabani Gambiza.

“Today we have representatives from the Police, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and the media. The purpose was to discuss what should be done during the election covering process and how journalists should be protected. So the government has promised us that our safety will be protected,” said Media Alliance of Zimbabwe coordinator Mr Nigel Nyamutumbu.

The Second Republic has taken deliberate steps to create a free and safe media environment for journalists, while several television and radio stations have been licenced as part of efforts to open up the airwaves.- ZBC News

#GOLDMAFIA: ZANU PF To Expel Passion Java

The wealth-flaunting preacher, Passion Java will be kicked out of ZANU PF soon, a leading ZANU PF opinion-pusher has said.

Writing against the backdrop of public outrage over the revelations in the ongoing Al Jazeera documentary, #GOLDMAFIA, the Herald columnist, Reason Wafawarova said:

This idiot son of a scumbag and sorry excuse for a human being thinks Zanu PF is a safe house for criminals.

We will protect the revolutionary party from criminals like him. We will put him where he belongs.

Zanu PF buries nharadada. Pasi pasi muvhu nenharadada.

DeMbare Reject PSL Suspension

Harare giants Dynamos have rebuffed the suspension of their welfare manager Richard Cbihoro by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) over an ‘anti-juju’ ritual during their match against Hwange.

Chihoro was suspended by the PSL after he sprinkled some unknown substance at the Mpilo End goal post during DeMbare’s 1-0 win over Chipangano at Babourfields Stadium on Saturday.

The PSL ordered that Chihoro will not be allowed anywhere near the team bus, changing rooms or to sit in the technical area during PSL matches until the matter has been finalised on the 5th of April.

But DeMbare argue the suspension of Chihoro is a nulity because he has not appeared before the PSL disciplinary committee.

A statement by Dynamos reads: “Dynamos Football Club, pursuant to the charging of the club manager Mr Richard Chihoro, would like to confirm the following:

  1. That the team manager was served with the summonses to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on 5th April 2023;
  2. That PSL secretariat did not act professionally in handling the matter as they rushed to the media before serving the accused with the summonses as per
    standard practice;
  3. That the PSL secretariat wilfully usurped the powers of judicial bodies of football
by ordering that Mr Chihoro’s accreditation be withdrawn and that he be nowhere near the team bus, technical dug out and changing rooms until the matter was finalised. Such an order must come from a competent judicial body and not the secretariat
  4. That Mr Chihoro remains an employee of Dynamos Footbal cub and that he will be expected to carry out his duties as per his contract with the club until such a time that a judicial determination makes such pronouncement.
  5. That Dynamos Football Club shall not comply with unlawful instructions coming from Officers of the League.

Meanwhile, the club has been served with summonses to appear before the PSL
Disciplinary Committee for alleged offences arising out of the Hwange vs Dynamos
match. Both the club and the team manager will appear before the PSL Disciplinary
Committee on 5th April 2023.

Bayern Munich Sack Coach

FC Bayern announce the sacking of head coach Julian Nagelsmann with an immediate effect.

The gaffer joined the Bavarians less than two years.

The club has appointed Thomas Tuchel as his replacement until 2025.

A statement by Bayern confirmed the technical changes: “FC Bayern and head coach Julian Nagelsmann have parted company.

“This decision was taken by CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić in consultation with club president Herbert Hainer. Nagelsmann will be succeeded by Thomas Tuchel.”

Along with Nagelsmann, assistant coaches Dino Toppmöller, Benjamin Glück and Xaver Zembrod have also been released.

Commenting on the changes, Kahn said: “When we signed Julian Nagelsmann for FC Bayern in the summer of 2021, we were convinced we would work with him on a long-term basis – and that was the goal of all of us right up to the end.

“Julian shares our aspiration to play successful and attractive football. But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad – despite the Bundesliga title last year – has come to the fore less and less often. After the World Cup we have played less successfully and less attractively.

“The big fluctuations in performance have cast doubt on our goals for this season, but also our goals for the future. That is why we have acted now. Personally and on behalf of FC Bayern, I would like to thank Julian and his coaching team, and wish everyone the best of luck for the future.”- Soccer24 News

President Chamisa Slams Mnangagwa Over Gold Looting Scam

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said the Al Jazeera documentary on filthy gold scams in Zimbabwe is a glimpse of rampant looting of resources by the Zanu PF regime.

According to President Chamisa, the documentary is a typical revelation of relentless looting, corruption and deceit.

“THE FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD…

The Aljazeera documentary graphically exposes the extent of the rot at the top,but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

This clearly shows how corrupt, rotten & broken leadership has destroyed a jewel and great country.

Zimbabwe is not poor, it’s just poorly governed,” President Chamisa wrote on Twitter.

Mnangagwa Folds Arms As Cronies Steal Country’s Gold

AL Jazeera finally dropped its explosive documentary exposing how hundreds of millions worth of gold was being smuggled out to Dubai by a well knit circle of high ranking officials who include Ambassador at Large Uebert Angel and the controversial Henrietta Rushwaya.

Titled ‘The Laundry Service,’ the first of four episodes, sees Angel offering his diplomat status to undercover Al Jazeera journalists posing as potential clients for use in smuggling of US$1.2 billion into Zimbabwe from Macau and Hong Kong.

The dirty money, smuggled via ‘headquarters’ in Dubai is then used to purchase gold from artisanal miners through government’s Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR) for sale out of the country.

This is alleged to be the New Dispensation’s plan to bust ‘sanctions.’

In the video, the self proclaimed Prophet, in cahoots with Rushwaya presents himself as the central figure in his interactions with Mr. Stanley, the undercover journalist.

“We have done maybe US$100 to US$300 million but not one billion per se,” claims Angel.

“I am the second largest diplomat in the country. You know I can carry him in a bag and no one can touch that bag, no one is allowed .

“Right now I can have a bag like this with US$1.2 billion and put a red tape written diplomat, that’s it.

“It is a very, very easy thing. It will land in Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe can’t touch it until it gets to my house.”

He however is not the only one involved in the process, according to the documentary hundreds of millions more worth of gold are being smuggled by similar syndicates.

Shadowy businessman Simon Rudland, Kenyan born Kamleshi Pattni who had to flee his country of birth for Zimbabwe and a series of couriers are implicated.

Documents from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) and FPR are flung throughout the film to support agreements and purchases of gold between government and those implicated.

This is despite RBZ Governor John Panonetsa Mangudya’s fervent rebuttal of the allegations earlier this month.

“It is particularly strange that the reports claim that ‘through the Bank, Government is using illicit ways as a scheme to bust international sanctions placed on political leaders and government entities’. The Bank is not a sanctioned entity, and the cited individuals are not sanctioned persons either,” Mangudya said.

Ewan “Mr. Gold” Macmillan, whose clip calling Vice President Constantino Chiwenga a dunderhead once circulated, acknowleges that Pattni moves more gold than him but accuses him of being a thief.

Adds Pattni: “Right now they are quite stable. They are happy, they are recovering well.. the good thing is that their President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) listens.”

The episode ends with Angel demanding a US$200,000 facilitation fee from the undercover journalists, for them to meet Mnangagwa who was then attending COP 23.

Gold Mining Dynamics

By A Correspondent

Gold is leading economic booster of major towns and growth points in Zimbabwe .

You have to understand how the economy of gold works .

Gold itself is currency that can be exchanged many times before reaching the reserve bank. You have to pick what meets your personality inorder to cut your piece in this larger cake of natural resource tactfully inorder to save resources and avoid risks.

These opportunities range from setting up a hardware in growth points , setting up a food out in growth points and as close as possible to the mines as possible, construction company, retail shop, clothing shops in growth points and many more .In this post we will cover direct opportunities right inside the mine .

1 Transport and logistics
You buy a truck or tractor to service surrounding mines for a fee depending on local prices.

Consider the following when buying a tractor or truck

1 cheap: in order to compete well you should cut the cost of buying a tractor or truck preferably old model with parts available in the country.
2 reliable: get something that would be accessible easily; with less breakdowns, a good driver who can put up in the Bush with a functioning fone .

3 Affordable your pricing is should be reasonable or inline with local prices for innovators try pay “pay per view model ” . Charging per kilometre .

Budget between 6000usd and 10 000usd . Return on investment around 6months.
Supply of raw materials by loan.

You sell directly to miners explosives, diesel and compressor by loan
Explosives: help them to get a licence to store and use explosives then buy and sell to them at profit inside the licensed mine only.

Diesel supply diesel to miners at loan or agreed fee payment after milling.

Compressor hire : buy a compressor loan for shares and cash payments.

For the above three Budget starts from 2000usd upwards .
Cyanide plant building: Budget 5000usd upwards this cannot be covered in one post .

Selling safety clothing: one of major high income with less capital is selling safety clothing to miners for cash regardless of how many outlets have been opened .

Diesel powered windlass: this is a Chinese version of headgear but cannot be classified as one can move a tonne of ore at once versus 0;1tonne for traditional human powered windlass.
Mine compliance assistance : some people struggle to maintain and meet mining standards they could need financing.
Budget open .

NB there are investments as low as 500usd but difficult to maintain and risky recommended for those already familiar with the industry.

CORPSE THEFT: White People Invade Britain From Zimbabwe

EDITORIAL: An old British newspaper article went viral on Thursday over how certain vapositori sect members are wreaking havoc in UK backyards making unexplained noises.

… this practice continues across UK to this day and one church leader Bishop Miriam, Maina Tarugarira (South End-On-Sea) was recently caught running off with the corpse of sociallite, Jackie Ngarande’s cousin, a story investigated by ZimEye that’s now a police case. The preacher later secretly buried the body of the woman, she had demanded must release her bank account’s pin code before shutting her eyes. (*video loads below…)

The preacher’s brother has since been deported from the UK following the investigations, in which key witnesses narrated how she ordered that the church’s doctrine be assembled from a combination of witchcraft, Catholicism, and pentecostalism in order to captivate customers as a “powerful” congregation.

Press Statement: YungNation

“YungNation Riddim is our first step move to support zimdancehall This riddim was produced the 29th of January 2023. The Riddim was recorded, in early 2023 during a time we needed to physically, socially and economically travel and in a way mentally We had to be in a different space. It has so many meanings and undertones that cannot be wrapped up in a sentence. One thing We are sure of is we dove into topics that are special to the community. We hope it allows whoever gets to listen to it time to reflect and realign.”

The reason behind the Riddim:

Again the concept of the Riddim cannot be summed up in words. As it was a great sign to show that YungNation is meant for everyone . However, that in itself does not explain what it is. It is an act or action carried out from a place deeper than compassion or love. It is more of a sign of accomodating zimdancehall icons than anything.

The inspiration:

The Riddim was an idea to create something so forward thinking, creating a cordial relationship with zimdancehall fellows and still relevant at the same time.

We wanted to put our magazines issues on spotlight at zimdancehall community people aren’t putting lot of YungNation Magazine issues at the centre, Queer Rights, love documentaries, Polyamory, Police Brutality, business surviving skills , Rape Culture, and many other social, economic and entertainment issues .We live through most of these issues. FULL TEXT: Acie Lumumba Drops Bombshell Against Gold Dealer Scott Sakupwanya

Dear friends;

I am dealing with an incredibly painful public failure at the moment, In Decemeber last year I became bankrupt and went into debt after spending 5 months cancer treatmments. My wife confessed she was having an affair with Zweli Lunga and Scott Sakupwanya friends and business associates I had known for over 10years; when I knew of my sickness I moved all my assets into her name for the sake of our son. There are things about to come out that will embarrass any man and destroy any ego but I ask again that you understand it’s sensitive and I would have preferred it private, they have just chosen to make a public humiliation out of me. I have learnt on Monday I will be served with a ‘cease and desist’ order to not mention the matter, Zweli got her to sell all my assets which I have no issues with- I’ll rebuild it all. The real issue is her two lovers are so hell bent over proving a point they are using all influence to restrict me from access to my son. They have requested the courts to never allow me time with my son by myself. As they start their campaign of mistruths exclusively designed to prove I’m unfit to father my son, do remember I’m just a father desperate to be in his child’s life. I just want access to my son, I think it is brutally dark and wicked for them to restrict that. Even if I was a monster, he’s my son, except I’ve done nothing but work like a junk yard dog for that boy ?. I am currently consulting legal guidance but I challenge them to a lie detector on my account to validate a single line of lies they are pedalling. I have to fight for my son, I don’t know what else to do ?

Mahere Deletes ‘Leaked Audio’ As Rushwaya’s ZMF Proves It’s Fake

By A Correspondent | CCC Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere was forced to delete an audio circulated accusing Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta Rushwaya.

ZMF dismissed the audio of a woman many Zimbabweans claimed is Rushwaya. The clip has a woman responding to the Al Jazeera documentary #GOLDMAFIA. The organisation in a statement said its: “board is hereby denouncing audio circulation on social media platforms purporting to be that of The ZMF President Henrietta Rushwaya. The audio is meant to tarnish the image of the ZMF President and that of the organisation.

“The ZMF Constitution article 12.1.2 precludes its leadership from actively participating in politics. The ZMF is an apolitical organisation and you’re advised to disregard that fake, malicious and mischievous audio.

“Please be guided accordingly.

Uebert Angel Insults Chiwenga, Says Jenarari Hachisi Chinhu

By-Self-proclaimed prophet and Gold smuggler Uebert Angel said he was more powerful than the Vice President and former ZDF commander Constantino Chiwenga and claimed he was second in command after President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

If the claims are anything to go by, it means that Angel occupies a higher position than Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Chiwenga was the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) when the military staged a coup in November 2017, which removed former President Robert Mugabe from power.
Some political commentators believe Chiwenga is the man in charge of the country, with Mnangagwa just the face of the government.
Angel, who was appointed a special envoy and ambassador-at-large to Europe and the Americas by Mnangagwa in 2021, boastfully told Al Jazeera undercover journalists the position was created specifically for him. He said:
I am an ambassador-at-large; I am an ambassador to 85 countries. As the special envoy, I am a representative of the President.
If you then look on paper in that position, I am number two, and there is no position like that in the country.
It was just one position that was never filled in. And I occupy that, it was created for me.
Angel is a self-proclaimed prophet at his Good News Church and claims he can heal the sick and predict the outcomes of elections and football matches.
In Episode One of the Al Jazeera documentary, Gold Mafia, Angel boasted that he could assist his guests to launder as much as US$1 billion in cash using diplomatic cover.
Angel appeared to be encouraging them to take advantage of his close ties with Mnangagwa.

Passion Java In Next Al Jazeera Corruption Documentary?

Passion Java with Emmerson Mnangagwa

By James Gwati-Zimbabweans are asking if the controversial preacher Panganayi Java. AKA. Passion Java would not be featured in the next episodes of the Al Jazeera investigation, “Gold Mafia”.

The documentary uncovers criminals driving gold smuggling and money laundering worth billions of dollars in Southern Africa.

Most featured in the 1st episode of the documentary is another controversial preacher, Uebert Angel, who was appointed the Zimbabwe Ambassador at large by the Zanu PF government.

In a follow-up statement, CCC condemned the corruption, saying the provision of social services in the country has collapsed while millions are being looted. The opposition party said:
While our health, education and infrastructure systems are on their deathbed, the few elites who are connected to government officials are making at least US$80 million every month through one of our valuable natural resources, gold.
On Thursday, 23 March, Al Jazeera released Episode One of Gold Mafia (The Laundry Service) a four-part series.

The accountant said Pattni would declare a fraction of the value of Zimbabwean gold sold abroad and keep the rest of the proceeds out of the country.

UK Puts Zimbabwe On Red List For Healthcare Job Recruitment

By Dorrothy Moyo | The United Kingdom has put Zimbabwe on the red list for health and social care jobs recruitment.

A British government statement says this is because of a UN process to protect the countries with the most pressing job shortage needs. Part of the statement says:

Heath and social care organisations in England do not actively recruit from those countries the World Health Organization (WHO) recognise as having the most pressing health and care workforce-related challenges unless there is government to government agreement to support managed recruitment activities. Through effective bilateral work – such as our memorandums of understanding with the governments of India, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines and Sri Lanka – we are working in partnership to support well managed migration pathways that deliver benefits to the NHS, the health or care professionals, and the sending country.

We are committed to regularly updating the code. In this edition, you will see that we have responded to concerns that have arisen over the last year, including:

    • strengthening the best practice benchmarks to ensure fairness and consistency in employment contracts, and set out principles on the use of repayment clauses in employment contracts
    • setting out the routes of escalation for concerns about exploitative recruitment or employment practices and breaches of the code
    • providing more clarity on how the code applies to different international recruitment models
    • introducing a knowledge test for recruiting organisations applying to be on the ethical recruiters list
    • expanding the scenario examples

In actively addressing emerging issues of concern we aim to maintain the highest ethical standards in all international recruitment activity undertaken in the UK.

Mnangagwa Takes Former Opposition Members Into Primaries

Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu-PF party has allowed former opposition members to contest in this week’s internal polls, as President Emmerson Mnangagwa breaks with tradition, the Zimbabwe Independent can report.

Ahead of Zanu-PF’s primary polls set for Saturday, former members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) will be among the contestants.

Winners of the primary elections earn the right to represent Zanu-PF in crunch general elections expected in July or August this year.

Former G40 members, who were aligned to the late president Robert Mugabe during divisions in the party before the 2017 coup, have also been given the greenlight to contest in the primary elections.

Traditionally, Zanu-PF members returning from suspension after joining the opposition, or for other reasons only become ordinary card-carrying members.

They will not be allowed to contest for any positions until a minimum period of five years lapses.

Zanu-PF’s internal elections were initially slated for Saturday last week, but were shelved following an overwhelming response by aspirants, who want to represent the party in the senatorial, national assembly and council elections.

While the party received as many as 15 contestants vying for some constituencies and council seats, Zanu-PF insiders said concessions were being reached to reduce the numbers.

“There are areas where leaders have been overwhelmed, but there has been a trend in Zanu-PF where candidates reach consensus and pave way for each other,” a source said this week.

The Independent understands that concessions have been reached in several districts, including Gutu Masvingo, where Mines minister Winston Chitando and National Housing deputy minister Yeukai Simbanegavi were vying for the Gutu Central candidacy.

However, according to the final list released on Wednesday, Chitando will stand uncontested.

Simbanegavi will represent the party in the women’s quota for the district.

Zanu-PF national secretary for the commissariat Mike Bimha confirmed this week that there were challenges in some areas.

“The politburo went through the CVs,” Bimha said. “The instructions were clear that no CV was to be denied. Those meeting the requirements were allowed to contest. A decision was made to allow members from CCC and MDC as returnees to contest if they wanted to for any seats they so desired.”

The decision to let former opposition members to contest in the primaries would be a welcome development for members like Tongai Matutu, a leading official in the Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDC.

Gold Mafia Documentary Part 1 Once Again

VIDEO LOADING BELOW…

-RBZ statement on 6 March 2023-
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (the Bank) is concerned and disturbed by sensationally wild, false and malicious media reports, carried in snippets of an unscreened Al Jazeera documentary, produced by the network’s Investigative Unit, purveying the impression that the Bank is “Southern Africa’s laundromat” or “Southern Africa’s laundry service” for an alleged African gold mafia involved in illicit gold dealings, corruption and money laundering.

The snippets cite a few boastful and name-dropping individuals, who neither work for nor represent the Bank in any capacity, as sources of the allegations. The outrageous reports quote one of the cited individuals as boasting that he has diplomatic cover to “fly dirty cash into Zimbabwe where it can be laundered through gold and other investments”. Another individual is reported to have asserted that “there is an opportunity, a bell of a big opportunity to wash money here [in Zimbabwe]”. Yet another self-serving claim is that one individual bragged that his phone “is on speed dial” with the Bank’s Governor. These are all false and malicious allegations.

It is unbelievable that such bizarre claims, allegedly made by private individuals who have no relationship with the Bank whatsoever, have been elevated to gospel truths and published with reckless abandon.
It is particularly strange that the reports claim that “through the Bank, Government is using illicit ways as a scheme to bust international sanctions placed on political leaders and government entities”. The Bank is not a sanctioned entity, and the cited individuals are not sanctioned persons either. There are no sanctions on Zimbabwean exports and imports, including trade in gold, to warrant Zimbabwe to “circumvent international sanctions” through illicit trade in gold. As such, the claim that there is “a scheme to bust international sanctions using illicit ways” shows beyond doubt that the peddlers of this narrative have a sinister agenda with nefarious objectives of tarnishing both the Bank and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
It is also disturbing that the scurrilous allegations have largely been widely and recklessly reported by a well-known and outspoken social media activist, elements of the local media and Zimbabwean-linked digital media platforms, who are closer to home to take responsibility by independently verifying the damaging and unproven allegations before publishing or peddling them. It is disappointing and deplorable that Zimbabweans are at the forefront of spreading malicious falsehoods about the Bank and the country.

Curiously, the leaked snippets of the unscreened documentary omit the Bank’s responses to 32 questions Al Jazeera Investigative Unit posed to the Bank in connection with the allegations. In the spirit of transparency and social responsibility, the Bank responded to all the 32 questions in detail on 27 February 2023 and the responses clearly show that the narrative, so far purveyed, is nothing but false. The Bank is disappointed that either Al Jazeera Investigative Unit has not included the Bank’s responses in the information they have leaked to or shared with their selected media houses and journalists, or the concerned journalists have elected to ignore the Bank’s responses and only published the fake allegations in a malicious pursuit of a hidden agenda, unknown to the Bank or Al Jazeera.
The Bank reserves its rights to take appropriate legal action or initiate necessary sanctions against the interviewees and purveyors of the fake news to protect its fiduciary responsibilities in the national interests.

Meanwhile the Bank advises the public to dismiss the false allegations with the contempt they deserve. The Bank remains confident that the truth cannot be hidden, and that the truth shall prevail.

Henrietta Rushwaya vs Hopewell Chin’ono | FULL TEXT

The Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta. Rushwaya contacted ZimEye seeking to tell her side of the story regarding published allegations that state that she or her sympathisers caused the arrest of journalist Hopewell Chin’ono over tweeting. She briefly spoke during a scheduled Twitter space session on Thursday night where she challenged her accuser to come out and confront him publicly.

[NEW LIVE DEBATE DATE SLATED FOR SUNDAY 26th MARCH 2023]

Rushwaya’s choice for a neutrally moderated debate is with the only publisher (a member of the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit documentary making team) whose exclusive stories since 2018 triggered the #GoldMafia investigation, Simba Chikanza.

She (HR) was interviewed by Simba Chikanza (SC)

SC: Miss Rushwaya, good evening, you contacted me, seeking to tell your side of the story regarding the many published articles out there that point you as the one who caused the arrest, or is linked to the arrest, being that there are people who are around you or connected to you who caused the arrest of a colleague in our industry, Hopewell Chin’ono, but right now I am going to ask you because as you can see the public want to know so much out of what has now been disclosed to them. Let me start here, by getting into what you contacted me at first.- Did you get Hopewell arrested for tweeting over your bail case?

HR: What did Hopewell do to me? What is it that you’re suggesting that could make me even desire to do such a thing, if I had the capacity or means to do such a horrendous thing? I don’t even have the capacity, I am just a small fish.

SC- You’re saying to me that you don’t have the capacity, but is there not a possibility your “handlers” or someone close to you, or even sympathising with you, as Hopewell Chin’ono says, got him arrested over your bail case?

HR: LAUGH LAUGH. I don’t see Hopewell being any relevant to anyrhing to do with me, other than, than the on the ground journalists, if at all they are there.

SC: But tell me, are you telling me that Hooewell is mad. Are you implying that he is targeting you because of guesswork? I mean, people ask you especially after watching the documentary today, why are you the publishing target of an award winning journalist? Is this not a reason to believe that you have a case to answer?

HR: I don’t know what the case is, perhaps I should win awards!

SC: Are you being real there, and Miss Rushwaya, have you not gotten other journalists arrested before?

HR: As a peace loving Zimbabwean, I don’t believe in the victimisation of anyone… I’ve been a victim of objectification. And as a woman I’ve suffered for things that men still continue to do without being attacked at all.

SC: Miss Rushwaya, we see you in this Al Jazeera documentary. It’s your voice, and you are communicating things here and there, or at least we say, we hear you so. Miss Rushwaya, do you you not wash money?

HR: I am not going to pre empt my legal processes, but meanwhile I I can say anyone can record a phonecall and make a twisted story. You, Simba, when you once phoned me claiming I am not at all in prison, what did you find out in the end? It’s not for me to tell you what my next move is, but, let me the games begin.

SC: Please tell me, ever since Hopewell got arrested, have you cared to connect with him, or maybe should ask you, has he connected with you physically and the like, I think people would like to know the nature of your relationship there.

HR: I am being accused of being close to people of power, who are only being perceived by Hopewell, and known to him, and these people are said to be responsible for causing arrests, and I was arrested on the 20th October (sic)…

Men inside the NPA are discussing my case and a male journalist, while I am suffering, and then the same male comes out to accuse me of being connected to the same male prosecutors he alone has access to.

TYPED THROUGH- From his own notes, Hopewell reveals he has privileged access to the NPA. Why doesn’t he use that access to help people like Jon Sikhala?

Even to help me or even to help himself out of this whole case… (sic) Am I missing something here? These are not adding up.

These are people who have the capacity… to effect an arrest[sic, SOUND BREAKING, NETWORK].

Hopewell, has never bothered to call me, visit me, or even contact me, and yet I am his punch bag on a day to day basis, if I am such a horrible person, why not come here, and we record. Or you record me phone me to expose me, before you scream my name out to the whole world.

SC: Now, wait, are you telling me that he has has even called you? This would be a serious allegation if I call him and he gets a chance to speak- will you wait for him? Because I am of the believe that he …. are you okay to wait? Maybe, let me say, I am not in way suggesting that you are not being truthful, what I am simply saying is to bring him here and he can come here and answer that he never called or never connected with you, and unfortunately at present I do not seem to see him l, as yet, which is a challenge.

I don’t know how much longer we are going to wait here.

Zanu PF Legislator Accused Of Using ED’s Daughter

ZANU-PF leadership in Mashonaland Central province has no kind words for Mazowe North legislator Campion Mugweni who allegedly used President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s daughter to get into power during the last elections.

Mugweni who was in a relationship with Chido Mnangagwa duped her at the eleventh hour and married another woman after winning the Mazowe North seat.

Insiders said they respected him during the last elections because he showed interest in becoming the First family-in-law.

“Mugweni tricked us last time he came as an in-law to the President but after winning the elections he dumped Chido and married another woman whom he wedded,” the source said.

In a desperate move to remain in power, Mugweni has been splashing money out to the informal traders like vendors, touts and sex workers in his constituency.

He has resurfaced during primary elections after missing in his constituency for five years.

New Gold Licensing Fees Likely To Promote Smuggling

Zimbabwe’s gold markets were overrun this week by fears that the recently announced steep increase of 400% in  gold dealing licence fees would result in a sharp rise in smuggling of the precious mineral.

Several estimates have indicated that up to US$100 million was being spirited out of the domestic market monthly, through smuggling.

Announcing this week’s hikes, Finance and Economic Development minister Mthuli Ncube said on Monday gold dealing licencing fees would be pegged at US$200 000, from US$5 000.

There has already been a backlash from small scale players, who argued that the reviews were meant to push them out, giving space to only big and politically connected dealers.

But players warned that hikes in dealership licences will not address fundamental issues affecting the industry.

They warned that Zimbabwe should, instead, brace for a rise in smuggling cases of the metal.

“It is hereby notified that the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, in terms of Section 19 of the Gold Trade Act…made the following regulations…The Gold Trade (License Fees) Notice 1987, published in Rhodesia Government Notice 256 of 1978 is amended by the repeal of paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 and the substitution of Gold dealing Licence US$200 000,” Ncube said.

Mining expert Innocent Nicks said steep hikes in dealership fees would see the emergence of monopolies.

“The fee is exorbitant and is beyond the reach of many people,” Nicks told the Independent.

“What it means is that a few will determine gold prices in the industry, hence a monopoly.”

But Zimbabwe Miners Federation chief executive officer Wellington Takavarasha said the steep rise will only affect gold exporters.

“The increase only affects those who are in the business of exporting gold, local gold buyers are not affected,” Takavarasha said in an interview.

A Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe source said there had been confusion in the market and the correct position was that it was the gold dealer licence that changed while the gold buying licence fee remained the same.

“Kindly note that the dealership licence and gold buying licence are different,” the source said.

“A dealing licence allows you to export gold to your account, while a gold buying licence allows someone to buy gold in the country and deliver it to Fidelity. So, the operational costs up to the delivery of gold to Fidelity will not be affected. Currently, Fidelity and a few others have the dealership licences to export gold,” the source said.

Mines deputy minister Polite Kambamura did not respond to questions sent to him when this publication sought to understand the rationale behind the increase in the licence fees.

According to reports, government recently noted the need to cascade the benefits being derived in gold mining to the lower levels of society through the licencing fees strategy.

The mining sector recorded significant growth last year with a total of 35 280kg of gold delivered to Fidelity Printers and Refinery.

Fidelity is the official buyer of all gold produced in Zimbabwe.

It has projected gold deliveries to reach 40 tonnes in 2023, mainly due to new gold mining projects coming into production.

Fidelity general manager Peter Magaramombe said: “There is nothing wrong with government raising money through hiking these dealing fees. We have no problem at all as we are in full support of government initiatives”.

Zanu PF Primaries Disturb Peace In Communities

Sanyati, in Mashonaland West province, reportedly turned into a war zone this week as rival aspiring Zanu-PF candidates bludgeoned each other ahead of the party’s primary elections set for tomorrow.

The violence in Sanyati follows more terror attacks that rocked Chegutu West as rivals there also beat each other up in the run up to the weekend primaries.

A video of one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s lawyers, Advocate Thembinkosi Magwaliba, attacking supporters of Mines deputy minister Polite Kambamura also emerged.

Kambamura is the sitting Sanyati Member of Parliament (MP), who is being challenged by Magwaliba and Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena’s younger brother, Tatenda.

NewsDay is reliably informed that some Zanu-PF supporters have reportedly abandoned their homes following the violence that flared up at Kasirisiri business centre on Tuesday.

Two of the aspiring MPs for the Sanyati seat accused each other of fomenting the violence when contacted for comment.

One of the victims, Beauty Jeremiah, who is the Zanu-PF Kasirisiri district chairperson, accused Magwaliba of sponsoring the violence.

“Magwaliba’s supporters have been going around threatening to come during the night and abduct Kambamura’s supporters and some people are now afraid of staying at their homes,” Jeremiah alleged.

According to Jeremiah, two teenage boys were stabbed for refusing to chant Magwaliba’s slogans at a rally the aspiring MP was addressing at Kasirisiri business centre on Tuesday.

“His (Magwaliba) supporters are threatening those who support Kambamura, unleashing violence, while boasting that he is Mnangagwa’s lawyer and that he will cause the release of his supporters who would have been arrested,” Jeremiah said.

Magwaliba denied fuelling the violence, claiming he was actually the victim.

He said four of his supporters were attacked by Kambamura’s loyalists.

“One was chopped by an axe, another shot by a catapult, while the other two were stoned. Kambamura’s supporters ambushed my supporters as we tried to attend to someone they had axed and caused mayhem,” Magwaliba said.

“I have not been retaliating. His supporters have been threatening my supporters. I preach peace at my rallies. Our innocent supporter was arrested and accused of assaulting Jeremiah. He has been released. All I can say is that Kambamura has been sponsoring violence.”

Kambamura was not answering his mobile phone, despite repeated efforts to contact him.

Meanwhile, Zanu-PF has barred all aspiring candidates from speaking to the media during the primary elections.

Addressing a provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Marondera, national political commissar Mike Bimha said: “As a party, this time, we are saying no candidate is allowed to speak to the media. We have only two people in the party who are allowed to comment, that is the party spokesperson (Christopher Mutsvangwa) and director for information (Tafadzwa Mugwadi).”

Also, Zanu-PF secretary for transport and social welfare and Local Government minister July Moyo have ordered aspiring candidates to surrender constituency vehicles to the party or face disciplinary action.

“Following a resolution by the national elections directorate, you are hereby instructed to immediately withdraw and pool all Zanu-PF party constituency vehicles allocated to your province in order to enhance administration of the forthcoming Zanu-PF party primary elections,” Moyo said in a memo dated March 20.

“Additionally, all party officials, including provincial chairpersons, provincial secretaries for the commissariat and party employees, are prohibited from using official party vehicles during the forthcoming primary elections. Such vehicles must be surrendered to the provincial command centre under stewardship of the supervising politburo member for the duration of the party’s primary elections.”

The primary elections were initially scheduled for last week, but were called off at the last minute.

Al Jazeera Documentary Leaves Zimbabweans In Shock

Zimbabweans have been waiting impatiently for the explosive documentaries by media group Al Jazeera of the systematic looting and plunder of resources by the ruling elite.

Today, the world watched with shock the first instalment of four, detailing how ZANU PF has sanctioned us and the unborn generation to perpetual poverty while a litany of fake prophets, criminals and state operatives mint millions from our national resources. ZAPU is appalled but not shocked.

We have known that our erstwhile colleagues never sacrificed for the black majority. We knew it pre-independence and we said it post-independence. As a result, over 20000 of our supporters were murdered in cold blood. The masterminds of the genocide are today occupying the highest offices In the land.

To protect their lootocrasy, they even deposed their own godfather through a coup. The lot have even imprisoned journalists for merely reporting the looting.

Today we all understand why they had to embarrass their godfather the way they did. ZAPU calls on all Zimbabweans, civic organizations, political parties, religious groups, student movements and the youth to prepare for action that will demand that those implicated must account for their actions. We caution every Zimbabwean to wait until all four documentaries our released before any action is taken.

ZAPU Statement On Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia

We implore all those implicated, including those yet to be implicated, to relinquish public office immediately and for private citizens to bring into confidence the general population by exposing the real culprits in government robes. In the end, which is soon, Zimbabweans must understand that Al Jazeera has pointed at the cracks on the walls of Jericho.

They’re wide, but by episode 4, they’ll be wider. All we have to do is push and they’ll collapse. But this calls for unity of all forces. ZAPU is ready and willing to be part of this revolutionary effort.

Our ZPRA heroes, mothers and fathers did not die so that a few white people can own the Reserve bank of Zimbabwe.

Our ZAN, colleagues did not perish in Nyadzonia so that families of government leaders loot our country dry. If this does not invoke your revolutionary spirit, then nothing ever will. After the last episode, ZAPU will be making an unequivocal call to action.

In the meantime, consultations will begin in earnest. We must all be united by our desire to save our motherland from vultures in sheep clothing. We are aware that they’ll immediately run a narrative that this goldgate was a sanction-busting scheme.

Nobody can be fooled, and as the next episodes will reveal, this is a mafia syndicate which was birthed through the 2017 military coup.

Even More Explosives Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia Episode 2

Zanu PF, Chiefs Rejects Mazowe Rapists And Sex Predator Candidates

The ruling Zanu PF party in Mazowe district has vowed not to vote for aspiring candidates who are headlining sexual abuse scandals with the worst forms of incestous relationship (chipini) allegedly bringing taboo to the culturally conservative indigenous people of the Mashonaland Central province.

This follows the resurfacing of a lot of information of alleged adulterous relationships and rape cases that were long swiped under the carpet which reportedly has angered some traditional leaders including Chief Negomo and Chief Makope.

Mazowe Central legislator Sydney Chidamba is one of the candidates who has lost the respect of the traditional leaders after scandals of his 15 year old pupil rape were made public recently, Chidamba who is allegedly in a scandalous relationship with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi is also reported to be bedding his sister (name supplied) committing crimes of incest (chipini) in a suspected juju affair.“

The traditional leaders and Zanu PF grassroots supporters have poured scorn on Chidamba and his cabal for desecrating the district of Mazowe by practising unholy sexual relationships, the chiefs are not happy with cases of child rape, adultery, incest and abortions.“

Besides allegedly bedding own sister, the MP who is a longtime boyfriend to Tsitsi Gezi is reported to have been in another adulterous relation with Kakora councillor (name supplied), as a result of these calamitous sexual affairs Chidamba has been facing serious curses including rejection by family members accusing him of witchcraft and he has been troubled over the disintegration of his family with a divorce from his wife and with some of his kids in rehab over drug abuse,”revealed a source close to the traditional leaders.

Mazowe District is known for being the habitat of the spirit medium Mbuya Nehanda and it is reverred for its spiritual connection to the mystic powers of the ancestral spirits.

The people of Mazowe have a strong belief in the spiritual dominance over their socio economic affairs and believe such unholy practises by community leaders bring curses including famine, drought and natural disasters.

In the same vein, Tafadzwa Musarara who is a cousin to Chidamba is facing the same criticism from traditional leaders who have vowed to remove all uncleanliness in the next chapter of the New Dispensation, “remember chiefs remain the custodian of the moral law in our societies and henceforth they have been questioning the state of turmoil in the province to which they believe is being caused by dirty leadership.

“Musarara has a case to answer before the chiefs after impregnating a known Zanu PF youth (name supplied) before forcing her into abortion and latter dumped her after using her as his campaign manager during the DCC elections, this and other cases are annoying the traditional leaders,” said one Remegius Kaviya, a traditionalist from Mazowe.

Chidamba whose real name is Max Nherera is a fugitive from justice after fraud and murder cases he committed some few decades ago before hiding in one of the neighbouring countries resurfacing with anew name Sydney Chidamba.

Wife Demands $300 For Child Maintanance, Man Offers $20

A Harare man yesterday offered to pay US$20 to his former wife as maintenance for two children they had together.

The man accused the ex-wife of poisoning him and stealing his money when he served her with divorce papers.

This emerged at the Harare Magistrates Court where Cramming Makwarimba was demanding US$300 as maintenance for their children from her ex-husband Martin Mutswako.

They appeared before magistrate Ayanda Dlamini.

The couple has two children aged 10 and 17.

Mutswako offered US$20 for the upkeep of the two children, saying he has been footing medical bills after he survived a food poisoning.

According to Mutswako, his ex-wife faces criminal attempted murder charges.

“She is claiming money for rentals and claiming that I evicted her from our matrimonial home. Your worship, she even stole US$465 plus 100 rands and poisoned my food when we were trying to settle our divorce,” he submitted.

Dlamini asked him to stick to matters pertaining to the maintenance of their children.

Mutswako then said the elder child was 18 years hence must be removed from the maintenance order.

This was, however, disputed by his ex-wife who said the child was 17.

In her ruling, Dlamini said: “Both parents have a legal obligation to take care of their minor children. It is unfair for one parent to take the responsibility when the other one is able bodied.

“Amount being offered by the respondent is too little to take care of two minor children. Therefore, the respondent is ordered to pay US$70 and pay school fees for the two children.”

Mnangagwa Housing Scheme Hits Snag

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s so called housing for all programme has hit a snag.

Mr Mnangagwa grabbed the FBC Housing Project in a move political analysts say is calculated to score political marks.

On Wednesday Mr Mnangagwa presided over the commissioning of housing units in Kuwadzana.

According to the Member of House of Assembly for Kuwadzana, Hon Johnson Matambo, the houses are beyond the reach of many and as such the whole thing is a circus.

Hon Matambo is a CCC MP.

“The FBC Project is in Ward 45 which is under my Constituency and was launched on Wednesday.

The construction of those houses deprived residents in the same ward of access to manucipality water.

A valve which fed water to part of Kuwadzana Phase 3 was closed,” said Hon Matambo.

“The Houses are beyond the reach of an ordinary Zimbabwean.

-All those calling themselves Teachers , Nurses , Doctors for ED cannot afford to buy or get a mortgage for such houses which are pegged at more than 50k.
The houses for all concept has failed.

-FBC Housing Project is not in any way an initiative of the Government.
The Government has not produced significant Housing projects other than land grabbers.

We expected an update on the promised title deeds of Epworth Residents” added the MP.

Understanding Dynamics Of Gold Mining

By A Correspondent

Gold is leading economic booster of major towns and growth points in Zimbabwe .

You have to understand how the economy of gold works .

Gold itself is currency that can be exchanged many times before reaching the reserve bank . You have to pick what meets your personality inorder to cut your piece in this larger cake of natural resource tactfully inorder to save resources and avoid risks.

These opportunities range from setting up a hardware in growth points , setting up a food out in growth points and as close as possible to the mines as possible, construction company, retail shop , clothing shops in growth points and many more .In this post we will cover direct opportunities right inside the mine .

Explosives: help them to get a licence to store and use explosives then buy and sell to them at profit inside the licensed mine only .

Munetsi Donates To The Needy

Marshall Munetsi is a lot of things. He is a versatile footballer who is very comfortable playing in midfield as well as in central defence.

He is arguably the best footballer in Zimbabwe right now and certainly destined for greatness.

Dembare Face PSL Discipline

Dynamos have become the first club to face disciplinary action from the Premier Soccer League this season.

The Glamour Boys have been summoned to appear before the Disciplinary Committee following fan trouble incident during their 2023 Castle Lager Premiership season opener against Hwange at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.

The Harare giants are facing charges of pitch invasion and missle throwing during the game.

A statement by the PSL confirmed the development, saying: “The Premier Soccer League has summoned Dynamos FC to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee following incidents of pitch invasion and missle throwing that occurred during a Castle Lager PSL match played between Dynamos FC and Hwange FC at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday 18 March 2023.

“Dynamos FC are charged for breaching Order 31.1.13.1 and 31.1.13.3 of the PSL Rules and Regulations.

“The Disciplinary proceedings shall take place on Wednesday 5 April 2023 at the PSL Offices.”

The charges follow after the PSL suspended Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro over his “anti-juju” antics during the same match.

During half time, Chihoro performed an alleged anti-juju ritual by sprinkling some unknown substance at the Mpilo End goalpost to ‘unlock the nets’, after DeMbare had failed to break the deadlock in the first half, despite creating a lot of chances.

The team manager will appear before the PSL disciplinary committee and is suspended from sitting in the technical area until the matter has been resolved.- Soccer24 News

Harare City Council Reduces Parking Penalty Fees

By-Harare City Council (HCC) has reduced the penalty parking fees from US$132 to US$65.

This follows a public outcry over a US$132 penalty charge for failing to display a valid parking ticket worth US$1 per hour.

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said the City resolved to have the parking penalty charge reduced to US$57 and the clamping charge of $65 delayed by up to three hours.

Mayor Mafume said motorists are now expected to pay US$57 within three hours if a vehicle is clamped. Speaking during a Special Council Meeting recently. Mayor Mafume said:

The effect is that one will get a ticket of US$57 across the board no matter the offence. If you have been parked and you are late by 30 minutes you will simply pay the parking fee arrear but after 30 minutes the motorist will be issued with a penalty ticket of $57 which must be settled within 3 hours. The clamping and towing fine of $65 will be charged to motorists who fail to pay the $57 penalty fee within three hours.

He said if a motorist fails to pay during the specified period, it means that he has to pay US$57 plus a parking fine of US$65.

If a motorist exceeds more than 30 minutes from their booked time, they will be fined.

Mayor Mafume said Council has instructed the Finance and Development Committee to begin the process of reducing the fines.

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa recently ordered Harare councillors to quickly review downwards the parking penalty charges following a public outcry.

The ruling ZANU PF had also condemned the CCC-dominated local authority over the manner in which City Parking has been enforcing traffic by-laws in Harare’s central business district.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA LIAISON OFFICER

Incidents of pitch invasion and the throwing of missiles during football matches have occurred in Zimbabwe in the past.

One notable pitch invasion incident took place in 2019 during a match between Highlanders and Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium during a PSL match. The match was halted for 15 minutes after fans invaded the pitch and threw missiles, including bottles and stones, at the players. Several people were injured, and the match was later abandoned.

Another incident happened in 2018 during a match between Caps United and Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium. Fans threw missiles at the Caps United goalkeeper, who was hit by a bottle and had to be substituted due to injury.

These incidents are concerning and demonstrate the need for strong measures to prevent such behaviour and ensure the safety of players and spectators during football matches.

Henrietta Rushwaya Takes Hopewell Chin’ono Head On

By James Gwati- The Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta Rushwaya has challenged journalist Hopewell Chin’ono over his utterances that the former ZIFA CEO caused his arrest.

Rushwaya contacted ZimEye seeking to tell her side of the story regarding published allegations that state that she or her sympathisers caused the arrest of Chin’ono.

She briefly spoke during a scheduled Twitter space session on Thursday night where she challenged her accuser to come out and confront him publicly.

Rushwaya’s choice for a neutrally moderated debate is with the only publisher (a member of the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit documentary-making team) whose exclusive stories since 2018 triggered the #GoldMafia investigationSimba Chikanza

Zanu PF Readies For Polls While CCC Remains In Deep Slumber

By Dr Masimba Mavaza- As Zimbabwe prepares for the harmonised elections, Zanu PF President Emmerson is on the ground campaigning for his party and his members of Parliament while CCC leader Nelson Chamisa is campaigning for himself.
The allegations by CCC and their president that the 2023 harmonised elections will be rigged are the most insincere and inflammatory lies, given that they are not preparing themselves for these polls.

For a start and speaking about rigging, CCC is a very vunerable victim of rigging. It’s predecessor was rigged by Chamisa. This is a party that was conceived on dishonesty and it is a party whose existence is a product of a mighty big deception.

If CCC wants to speak about riggong, it is because it lives and breathes the pain of rigging. Its president Chamisa designed agsinst it a structural and organic system of rigging from which the party cannot extricate itself.

Deep in that structure of systemic rigging is the lack of constitution and constitutionalism. This lack is by design. It ensures that there is no compass, no moral background, no identifiable principle, no code of conduct, no standard of behaviour. There is nothing to höld Chamisa to account by. This is a classic act of rigging. CCC must be living in agonised pain over this. Being led by a highly organised criminal.

The party has not had a congress to elect its leadership. The so-called coalition of citizens iis actually a mockery of forced citizens.

A party without an elected leader and without a shadow cabinet, run by a man who claims to have personally inherited it from the late Morgan Tswangirayi has the shameless audacity to talk about rigging.

CCC is mud-slinging. It refers to rigging without evidencing anything. Mere assertions are no proof of anything.

The CCC is unparalled in being the only political party ( if we may call it such) in the world which is lawyer-heavy at the top. All these lawywes should know better than make unsubstantiated allegations. Such lies are culculated to disuade people from voting.

The timing of the allegations of rigging is telling. Since 2000 this party waits until it is a few months from elections and then cry about rigging. After the elections they do nothing other than talk down their own country. If CCC was genuine, it would have used its presence in Parliament to bring a motion about suggested legislation changes. No such motion had been moved. This tells you that deep down CCC knows that our electoral system us good.

Allegations about rigging are designed to discredit our electoral system as CCC stares at the face of electoral defeat. They are laying the foundations of appalling excuses and finger-pointing after the electoral rejects them.

The reasons for their rejection will be simple. They are run by an unelected demagogue. They have no alternative programme of action. The only thing they stand for are sanctions. Instead of telling the nation what it would do to affect their lives, CCC is subtly telling the nation that it will throw the toy out of the prem and cause national turmoil if it loses elections.

We refuse to go to elections with a gun behind our heads.

As stated, CCC is run by a bunch of lawyers but has done nothng in Parliament to initiate any legislation. Instead they have concentrated on gymics that generate social media trending. CCC must grow up. They are i mature in opposing they will be immature in governing , if they win.
As we have seen from the Zimbabwe’s political party it is easier for any one to create self pity and rob Zimbabwe of its freedom.
They are sworn to be permanent opposition so they will oppose anything anywhere anyway anytime. Such is the priority of the CCC.
ZANU PF. Is busy campaigning for their MPs yet CCC is campaigning for their president. When they lose the coming elections they have no person to blame.

Malema Blasts Uganda’s Anti-Gay Bill, Supports Homosexuality

By- The Julius Malema-led Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has condemned Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill passed by the parliament on Tuesday.

In a statement the EFF, said it condemns Uganda’s anti-homosexuality Bill because it criminalises people because of their sexual identity. Reads the statement:

EFF CONDEMNS UGANDA’S ANTI-HOMOSEXUALITY BILL

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) condemns the inhumane Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which was passed by the Parliament of Uganda on the 21st of March 2023. The Bill, would outlaw same-sex relationships and bans any identification as being part of the LGBTQI+ community.

The draconian law, which is rooted in religious fundamentalism and hate would result in penalties for members of the LGBTQI+ community which include life imprisonment and the death penalty. The Bill passed in Uganda is a massive step backwards for Africa and a gross violation of human rights.

The stigma and hatred towards the LGBTQI+ community not only in Africa but across the world, infringes on the rights of individuals to identify as they see fit and express their sexuality without fear of persecution. It is completely irrational, as it is based on homophobic and baseless rhetoric which collates sexual crimes with queer identity.

It is a Bill that criminalizes the existence of people on the basis of their identity, and will open doors to numerous human rights violations. The EFF urges the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni to not sign the Bill which was adopted by the Ugandan Parliament, and embark on a massive program of education on sexuality, gender identity and on the rights of people to freely express themselves and associate with whomever they please.

The harmful rhetoric and propaganda that is pervasive in Africa against the LGBTQI+ community is baseless and illogical, as crimes committed by all sexes and genders of society are without justification, attributed to the community.

The EFF will without shame continue to associate itself with the LGBTQI+ community, as we will always be opposed to the criminalizing of people because of their sexual identity.

The parliament of Uganda adopted the new Bill which is aimed at cracking down on homosexual activity.

People who identify as gay now run the risk of serving life in prison in Uganda.

The new legislation also includes the death penalty in certain cases.

In 2014, Uganda’s constitutional court nullified another act which had toughened laws against the LGBT community.

Same-sex relations are banned in about 30 African countries where many people uphold conservative religious and social values.

The Dynamics Of Gold Mining

Explosives: help them to get a licence to store and use explosives then buy and sell to them at profit inside the licensed mine only .

Mnangagwa Grabs FBC Housing Project

UK Govt Red Lists Zim Healthcare Workers

Countries on the WHO Health Workforce Support and Safeguards List are graded red, which means no active recruitment is permitted from these countries.

If a government-to-government agreement is put in place between the UK and a partner country, it will restrict UK employers, contracting bodies, recruitment organisations, agencies and collaborations to the terms of the agreement. The country will be added to the amber list and recruitment can happen only on the terms of the agreement.

The WHO Health Workforce Support and Safeguards List is updated by WHO every 3 years, or more frequently if required.

Changes to the red and amber country list may be made on an ad hoc basis as government-to-government agreements are signed. All agreements will take WHO guidance on the development of bilateral agreements into account.

It is recommended that employers, recruitment organisations, agencies, collaborations and contracting bodies check the red and amber country list for updates before any recruitment drive.

Green graded countries – which have signed a government-to-government agreement with the UK for international health and social care workforce recruitment – are listed separately in Annex B.

Risks Of High Salt Intake

A first-of-its-kind World Health Organization (WHO) Global report on sodium intake reduction shows that the world is off-track to achieve its global target of reducing sodium intake by 30% by 2025.

Sodium, an essential nutrient, increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and premature death when eaten in excess. The main source of sodium is table salt (sodium chloride), but it is also contained in other condiments such as sodium glutamate. The report shows that only 5% of WHO Member States are protected by mandatory and comprehensive sodium reduction policies and 73% of WHO Member States lack full range of implementation of such policies.

Implementing highly cost-effective sodium reduction policies could save an estimated 7 million lives globally by 2030. It is an important component of action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal target of reducing deaths from noncommunicable diseases. But today, only nine countries (Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Uruguay) have a comprehensive package of recommended policies to reduce sodium intake.

“Unhealthy diets are a leading cause of death and disease globally, and excessive sodium intake is one of the main culprits,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “This report shows that most countries are yet to adopt any mandatory sodium reduction policies, leaving their people at risk of heart attack, stroke, and other health problems. WHO calls on all countries to implement the ‘Best Buys’ for sodium reduction, and on manufacturers to implement the WHO benchmarks for sodium content in food.”

A comprehensive approach to sodium reduction includes adopting mandatory policies and WHO’s four “best buy” interventions related with sodium which greatly contribute to preventing noncommunicable diseases. These include:

Reformulating foods to contain less salt, and setting targets for the amount of sodium in foods and meals
Establishing public food procurement policies to limit salt or sodium rich foods in public institutions such as hospitals, schools, workplaces and nursing homes
Front-of-package labelling that helps consumers select products lower in sodium
Behaviour change communication and mass media campaigns to reduce salt/sodium consumption
Countries are encouraged to establish sodium content targets for processed foods, in line with the WHO Global Sodium Benchmarks and enforce them though these policies.

Mandatory sodium reduction policies are more effective, as they achieve broader coverage and safeguard against commercial interests, while providing a level playing field for food manufacturers. As part of the report, WHO developed a Sodium country score card for Member States based on the type and number of sodium reduction policies they have in place.

“This important report demonstrates that countries must work urgently to implement ambitious, mandatory, government-led sodium reduction policies to meet the global target of reducing salt consumption by 2025,” said Dr Tom Frieden, President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, a not-for-profit organization working with countries to prevent 100 million deaths from cardiovascular disease over 30 years. “There are proven measures that governments can implement and important innovations, such as low sodium salts. The world needs action, and now, or many more people will experience disabling or deadly—but preventable—heart attacks and strokes.”

The global average salt intake is estimated to be 10.8 grams per day, more than double the WHO recommendation of less than 5 grams of salt per day (one teaspoon). Eating too much salt makes it the top risk factor for diet and nutrition-related deaths. More evidence is emerging documenting links between high sodium intake and increased risk of other health conditions such as gastric cancer, obesity, osteoporosis and kidney disease.

WHO calls on Member States to implement sodium intake reduction policies without delay and to mitigate the harmful effects of excessive salt consumption. WHO also calls on food manufacturers to set ambitious sodium reduction targets in their products.

Biti Trial Continues

By A Correspondent- The trial of opposition legislator Tendai Biti, who is accused of verbally assaulting a local businesswoman Tatiana Aleshina, continued yesterday with the complainant refusing to answer some questions under cross-examination.

The trial proceeded with Aleshina leading evidence for the State.

Biit’s lawyer Alec Muchadehama asked Aleshina several questions relating to their company Augur Investments, Doorex and Sunshine, among others, but she refused to answer any of the questions.

“I have no authority to talk about Augur Investments. I am only here for an assault case,” Aleshina responded.

Augur Investments was given a contract for the construction of the Airport Road that was supposed to connect the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to Harare’s central business district.

Only a small fraction of the road was constructed before government cancelled the contract.

“I introduced a lot of investors in this country, but I don’t remember the happenings of 2006. I am totally confused when you ask me about Augur because I don’t have authority to talk about Augur. If Augur had given me authority to represent them, I would have done so, but in this case, I cannot talk about Augur,” she said.

Prosecutor Michael Reza objected to some of Muchadehama’s line of questioning, saying some of the questions were irrelevant to the assault case.

“Since the start of this trial, the defence has not asked any questions relating to the assault case and no questions has been asked in relation to the assault case,” Reza argued.

The trial was adjourned and will continue on Tuesday next week.

ZAPU Appalled By Aljazeera Documentary

Zimbabweans have been waiting impatiently for the explosive documentaries by media group Al Jazeera of the systematic looting and plunder of resources by the ruling elite.

Yesterday, the world watched with shock the first instalment of four, detailing how ZANU PF has sanctioned us and the unborn generation to perpetual poverty while a litany of fake prophets, criminals and state operatives mint millions from our national resources.

ARTUZ Statement on the Al Jazeera Documentary

The union notes with great concern the grave and dirty acts of corruption being done by affiliates of the regime . People with access to power are using their access to bleed this country of its mineral wealth. We are basically hit by the crisis of plenty or what we call the resource curse .

What worries us the most is that foreigners are the chief patrons of these criminal activities. For far too long we have been accused to be stooges / puppets and paid pundits of the west . We have been accused of tainting the country’s image when speak truth on these matters.

We are even shocked that some praise singers of the regime have been calling the Golgate a creative way to sustain the economy. We are aware of the history of how the US funded the war in Nicaragua . It is purported by many that they used illicit means to do so , illicit means that destroyed the American society and furthered more harm across the world.

So when we do a historical audit of the regime’s behavior today we see that they are no different. The country loses US 100 million per month in corruption alone . All this money goes to private pockets while the working class remains poor earning paltry wages.

With our colleagues from #Teachers4USD movement we jointly pointed out that government has more than one source of revenue to finance education and pay salaries in USD and the documentary has proven us right.

It is now clear that our struggle is not just against slave wages but against corruption, rogue elites and international financial crimes. Our plight is caused by lack of integrity and criminality of political elites.

It is therefore right that our comrades in the working class and specifically in the education sector join the revolution . There is no other way.

We encourage, all teachers to register to vote . We also make it clear that the money is there to pay us and we demand our dues . In light of that we remain incapacitated and reject the offer made by government a few days ago . There is no justification for their budgetary considerations when they allow money to be siphoned out every day through corruption.

Henrietta Rushwaya Challenges Hopewell Chin’ono Over Police Arrest Story | FULL TEXT

The Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta Rushwaya contacted ZimEye seeking to tell her side of the story regarding published allegations that state that she or her sympathisers caused the arrest of journalist Hopewell Chin’ono over tweeting. She briefly spoke during a scheduled Twitter space session on Thursday night where she challenged her accuser to come out and confront him publicly.

Intra Party Violence Haunts Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- Sanyati, in Mashonaland West province, reportedly turned into a war zone this week as rival aspiring Zanu-PF candidates bludgeoned each other ahead of the party’s primary elections set for tomorrow.

The primary elections were initially scheduled for last week, but were called off at the last minute

“Gold Mafia is bigger than Zanu PF” said Al Jazeera. The tail is wagging the dog – out of spite!

By Wilbert Mukori- “Gold Mafia Episode 1: Laundry Service” will be aired on Al Jazeera TV tonight Thursday 23 March 2023, an advance version was already circulating on the social media.

There are six take home points from Episode 1:

  1. The gold smuggling was sometimes as a foreign currency earning and sanctions busting scheme. Zimbabwe is free sell gold and be paid in foreign currency on the international market and any problems it faced selling gold will be the same selling diamonds or whatever. A lot of the foreign currency used to pay for the gold in dirty money and the lack of proper records, checks and balance have encouraged this. Corruption is rampant and once again sanctions are being used as a feeble excuse and scapegoat.
  • The documentary producers estimated the country gold industry was worth US$2 billion per year and 80% of is lost to gold smugglers in which the gold mafia, the gold dealers and their political enablers the ruling elite, rack the lion’s share of the proceeds, the middle men and panners get small change and the state gets nothing!  at all. It is what the gold dealers have been doing with their loot that is particularly worrisome!
  • Kamlesh Pattni, alias Brother (or Pastor) Paul, a Kenyan of Indian descent, is heard boasting in the documentary of how he helped President Arap Moi “survive” politically by using the fortune he amassed laundering Kenya’s gold (most of which looted from DRC). He used the looted wealth to bribe Moi’s political opponents and critics. When there was finally regime change in Kenya, Pattni emigrated to Zimbabwe and has plied his gold laundering services for the benefit Mugabe and now Mnangagwa. Of course, he and his fellow gold dealers have and are playing their part in helping Zanu PF “survive”.
  • When Morgan Tsvangirai failed to get even one meaningful democratic reform implemented in five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU people attributed it to the MDC leaders being breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent. Many thought they had learned their lesson especially when the likes of Tendai Biti and David Coltart public admitted to the folly of participating in the 2013 elections without first implementing the reforms. But when MDC leaders including Biti and Coltart participated in the 2018 elections knowing fully well that doing so would only give Zanu PF legitimacy and contrary to their own condemnation of the act, it was clear Zanu PF controlled not just state institutions like ZEC and the Police but the opposition body politic too!
  • Uebert Angel, self-proclaimed prophet, was appointed Zimbabwe’s “First Ambassador at large, assigned to promote Zimbabwe brand” by President Emmerson Mnangagwa himself. Al Jazeera called him “Diplomatic Mafia” because he was offering his diplomatic bag to ferry dirty money from one country to the next. Angel “prophesied” that Mnangagwa would win 2018 elections and 2023 elections! This is more than just a prophesy, it’s the gold mafia flexing their humongous financial muscle.
  • “The gold Mafia is bigger than the government, bigger than any of the authorities,” boasted one gold dealer. As much as leaders like Emmerson Mnangagwa would like to believe they are the ones controlling the gold Mafia and governing Zimbabwe, it is the Mafia who are calling the shots. Indeed one Mafia member dismissed VP Chiwenga as a “dunderhead”! The truth is without implementing the democratic reforms first holding elections will never deliver any meaningful political change because the Mafia will use their financial muscle to keep the dunderheads in power.

The Al Jazeera documentary has revealed the extend of corruption in Zimbabwe today is not only deep rooted, the rot has spread to every segment of society, but worst of all the Mafia thugs employed by the ruling elite to do the looting have surpassed the employers, they are now the masters. The tail is wagging the dog and, worst of, out of spite!

We must condemn the 2023 elections now, without having not having to wait for predetermined outcome, and demand the setting up of a new GNU tasked to implement all the democratic reforms. We need to reset our political system because nothing of value will ever come out of the present system that is rotten to the core!

Mukumba Bus Loses US$11K To Armed Robbers

By-A prominent Masvingo bus operator, Mukumba Brothers, has been left counting the losses after a gang of five unidentified armed robbers pounced on the firm’s garage in the ancient city’s industrial area and made off with over US$11 000 and a substantial amount of South African rands.

The five suspects, who are still unknown, pounced on Mukumba Brothers’ garage around 1am on Tuesday and stole $11 394 and 13 450 rands after allegedly breaking into the cash office.

According to police the five suspects, who were armed with an as-yet-to-be-identified pistol and iron bars, first tied a security guard at the adjacent premise with shoelaces and put him in a vehicle boot before proceeding to Mukumba Brothers garage driving the vehicle in question.
Two of the suspects forced open the garage gate while three others scaled the precast wall and once inside they ordered security guards and everyone inside to surrender at gunpoint.
They allegedly took a Samsung cellphone from a Mukumba Brothers employee before they forcibly opened the door to the cash office.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said after getting into the cash office they took US dollars and South African rands and fled as police from Masvingo Central who had been alerted of an ongoing armed robbery closed in.
“We managed to recover the vehicle where a security guard manning an adjacent premise had been dumped by the suspects after they tied him with shoelaces,” said Inspector Dhewa.
“A manhunt for the suspects is still underway and we believe the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them.” Herald

We Are Incapacitated- Teachers

TEACHERS yesterday rejected government’s 100% salary increase, saying they remain incapacitated, while accusing their employer of dishonesty after reportedly dodging wage talks under the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC).

Government representatives reportedly dodged the NJNC meetings set for Thursday last week and Monday.

In a memo addressed to Public Service Commission chairperson, Vincent Hungwe, dated March 15, Finance ministry permanent secretary, George Guvamatanga, said COVID-19 allowances had also been increased from US$200 to $250 across sectors, excluding the health sector.

“The increase in cushioning and COVID allowances from $200 to $250 across all sectors with exception to the health sector takes effect on March 1, 2023 for the security sector and April 1, 2023 for the rest of the civil service, taking into account March 2023 developments in the sector,” Guvamatanga said.

“The approved review of 100% remuneration to grow (Zimbabwe dollar) emoluments from deputy director and below for all sectors, take effect on February 1, 2023 for the security sector and April 1, 2023 for the rest of the civil service.”

Teachers have also been given an additional US$80 monthly teaching allowance.

“This is an improvement to the school fees policy which discriminated against those teachers with no biological children, free primary school education up to a maximum of three children at government schools within the radius and introducing a government-funded funeral insurance framework,” Guvamatanga said.

Government pensioners will now receive US$100 from US$90.

Teachers yesterday accused government of not taking their plight seriously after allegedly not attending scheduled crunch salary talks.

Teachers are demanding at least US$1 000 per month to make ends meet.

Before the latest salary offer, the least paid teacher was earning about $36 000, a US$120 component and a US$75 COVID-19 allowance.

“Government can argue that they consulted in line with the Public Service Act and Statutory Instrument 141 of 1997,” Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe leader Obert Masaraure said.

“This is why we have rejected the NJNC as it is ultra vires to section 203(1)(b) and section 65 of the Constitution under which conditions of service are fixed through collective bargaining. Big lesson to all our colleagues in labour is that the employer has no respect for the workers. Teachers remain incapacitated.”

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said they were already planning a strike before the latest salary offer.

“The behaviour of the government representatives, and the principals they represent, is an assurance that they are spoiling for a fight, and that they are not likely to give us a living wage without being coerced by concerted worker action,” Majongwe said.

“We are doing final consultations with other unions with a view to having concerted and combined courses of action so that we will not expose our members to the vagaries of the employer. We are exhorting all genuine unions to put shoulder to wheel and harness our efforts for the greater good.”

Efforts to get a comment from Public Service ministry secretary Simon Masanga were in vain as he was said to be in a meeting.- NewsDay

We Have 4,5 M Votes: Zanu PF

Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa claims the ruling party has already amassed 4,5 million registered voters, 500 less than its target of five million votes in the upcoming elections.

Addressing the media after an extraordinary politburo session on Monday Mutsvangwa said: “Zanu-PF rules by consent not by history. This is the hallmark of the second republic. We are already at 4,5 million voters. We have a total of nearly 87 000 cells that have been verified accounting to 4,5 million voters.”

“The numbers from our cells are a true reflection of people on the ground verified by their numbers. They are not from social media like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram where they use algorithms instead of real people.”

As at June 10, 2022 the country’s registered voters numbered 5 804 975 according to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is, meanwhile, targeting six million votes in the next election.

Zimbabwe Election Advocacy Trust director Ignatius Sadziwa said why did Zanu-PF resort to violence and vote-buying if Mutsvangwa’s claims were true.

“We then wonder why vote-buying, violence and other electoral malpractices from Zanu-PF. The party must simply play by the book, observe the rule of law, entrench constitutionalism and lead by example as the ruling party. This false bravado is self-defeating,” Sadziwa said.

Political analyst Kudakwashe Munemo added: “Importantly, this also speaks to the need for political parties to complement any social media activities with physical action on the ground when it comes to the actual voting population to be able to forecast their strongholds based on membership databases.”

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the opposition party was unnerved by Zanu-PF’s claims.

“We are focused on winning Zimbabwe for change,” she said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is yet to proclaim dates for the elections set for either July or August.- NewsDay

Former Zanu PF MP Up For Sodomy

By-Former Zanu PF Kambuzuma MP Tinashe Maduza has been arrested for allegedly sodomising his former employee at gunpoint.

The 23-year-old ex-employee was allegedly sodomised on several occasions.
Maduza appeared in court yesterday.
The court heard that on May 31 last year, the complainant (name withheld) went to Maduza’s workplace, demanding his outstanding salary.
Maduza allegedly told the complainant to wait claiming that someone would bring money from his mine in Kwekwe.
After a while, Maduza allegedly took the complainant to Family 24, for a drink, while they waited for the person bringing the money.
They drank alcohol until around 1am and Maduza allegedly drugged the complainant and took him to Island Lodge in Belvedere.
Maduza allegedly booked a room and the two slept on the same bed.
During the night, Maduza allegedly sodomised the complainant several times before leaving the lodge at around 5am while the complainant was asleep.
The complainant woke up at around 6am and discovered that he had been sodomised and Maduza had left.
Maduza allegedly left US$70 on the side table.
The complainant called Maduza and demanded to be taken to a hospital, for medical treatment, because he was bleeding from the anus.
Maduza allegedly sent a taxi that took the complainant to one Dr Munetsi, of Warren Park, where he was treated and discharged.
The complainant made a report at ZRP Milton Park.
Maduza also appeared together with Makosa Mazhilikawo, 53, facing robbery and aggravated indecent assault.
It is the State’s case that the two lured the same complainant, under the pretext that Maduza wanted to give him his outstanding balance.
Maduza is said to have called the complainant and told him to meet at Joina City.
The three drove to Kopje where Maduza allegedly produced a pistol and ordered the complainant to surrender his phone and identity card.
Mazhilikawo instructed the complainant to take off his clothes and allegedly sodomised him.
The duo, together with another accused person Ashley Svondo, then kidnapped the complainant and restricted his movement for the rest of that night.
They released him the next day and he made a police report leading to their arrest on Monday.
The pistol was recovered from Maduza’s residence.

Uebert Angel Says Can Sign Government Deals Without Consulting Mnangagwa

By- Exposed self-proclaimed prophet Uebert Angels said he could sign government deals and treaties with other countries on behalf of Zimbabwe without consulting President Mnangagwa.

The founder of the Spirit Embassy, The Good News Church, was, on 17 March 2021, appointed Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large for Europe and the Americas.

Angel was appointed to seek trade and investment opportunities.

In an Al Jazeera documentary – Gold Mafia – which exposes corruption and looting in the mining sector, Angel said that as a plenipotentiary, he has full authorisation to sign a treaty or convention on behalf of President Mnangagwa.

He made the remarks while talking to a delegation of one Mr Stanley, an undercover Al Jazeera reporter who was investigating illicit financial flows in Zimbabwe.

His remarks were meant to assure Mr Stanley that his word was binding.

Mr Stanley pretended to have huge sums of dirty money which he needed to be cleaned.

Angel said it was possible as he had signed such deals before.

Zim Gay Man Recounts Horror

By Own Correspondent| A 25-year-old gay man from Sanyati has revealed how he became an outcast after being exposed for being gay .

Speaking to this publication, Tapfumaneyi Chisvo who once worked as a receptionist at Village Lodge Hotel in Gweru became a target of ridicule after news spread out that he was in a gay relationship.

“I only became openly gay in 2016 having grown up not having any feelings for females but rather fond of male partners. So it was at a party that year when I met a gay man Takunda Amin whom I had a romantic fling with in the full glare of people who were attending the party.

“Since my country is very conservative on homosexuality, news spread that I was seeing a man and my father got wind of it ,”narrates Chisvo.

He says after that his father had to seek the services of religious leaders and spirit mediums to ‘exorcise’ him from the ‘demons’.

“My father could not stomach my sexual orientation and had to drag me for cleansing sessions for the ‘demon’ that had gotten in me. I went to some Apostolic churches shrines and visited a number of spirit mediums but that did not stop my sexual orientation,”he added.

Forced Marriage

To cover up for his son’s ‘demons’ ,Tapfumaneyi’s father had to arrange a forced marriage.

“My father in a concerted effort to stop me from being gay ,he forced me to marry a lady from our neighbourhood ,Khanyisani Moyo but I refused .I then had to endure being kicked out of the family home for declining to be a normal ‘human-being’.

“He also threatened to unleash law enforcement agents to put me in custody,” Chisvo narrates.

Shamed At Workplace

After leaving his family home,Tapfumaneyi found a job in 2020 but the workplace became another hell for him.

“I never enjoyed work when I got one in 2020 because of my sexual orientation .I used to be mocked for being gay and lost on promotions .It was a toxic experience.I had no choice but to look for work elsewhere outside the country ,”he narrates .

Money Couldn’t Buy Acceptance

Tapfumaneyi got a cruise ship job and thought he could warm up his parents’ hearts with the remittances he was sending them but they spurned him .

“I got a cruise ship job in June 2022.I thought since I was now working abroad and earning foreign currency and remitting most of it back home my parents would accept me but this did not change their stance towards me ,”.
Contemplates Suicide

He had to seek the help of a local Pastor Nashon Chitembeya to ‘sweet-talk’ his parents but he was also not eager to assist him .

“I sought help from one Pastor Nashon Chitembeya but he quickly turned tables on me and said I was suffering from mental illness because of my sexuality and I needed professional counselling.

“He even referred me to a scriptures in the bible in the book of Romans which condemn homosexuality according to his narration of the bible.I felt I was alone and contemplated suicide ,”a teary Chisvo said.

Last year ,Chisvo joined Gays and Lesbian (GALZ) of Zimbabwe-an organisation that advocates for LGBTQIs but says he does not feel safe in Zimbabwe.

“Even though I have joined GALZ ,I still don’t feel safe in Zimbabwe .I cant socialise normally .At one point I was in a club drinking with my friends when we heard some people saying ‘ngito’ (derogatory word for gays and lesbians) should be beaten up.We had to leave early out of fear,”.

However, the organisation has over the years been a target of security agents .In 1995 GALZ was denied from participating at the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) sparking an international outcry. The former president Robert Mugabe even remarked that the LGBTQI community was ‘worse than pigs and dogs’.In 2023 ,Vice President Constantino Chiwenga had to direct government tertiary institutions not to accept the ‘Munhu Munhuwo’ scholarship beneficiaries which was targeting this LGTBQIs.

In Zimbabwe, same sex marriage is outlawed and the laws don’t criminalise someone who identifies himself as gay or lesbian. However, the community faces a lot of discrimination and disdain.

Uebert Angel Nailed In Al Jazeera Corruption Documentary

By- Self-proclaimed prophet Uebert Angels said he has the authority to sign deals and treaties with other countries on behalf of Zimbabwe without consulting President Mnangagwa.

Lloyd Mutasa Steps Down

Lloyd Mutasa has stepped down as the Green Fuel FC’s head coach to take a new post at the club.

Mutasa, who led the team to their maiden top-flight campaign after winning promotion in the Eastern Region Division One championship, is now the PSL newcomers’ technical director.

Former Highlanders assistant coach Bhekithemba Ndlovu takes over the reins as the head coach.

The club’s board chairman, Fredson Moyo, confirmed the appointment of Ndlovu to The Herald.

“Bhekithemba Ndlovu is taking over responsibilities of a head coach and will make decisions on training, team selection, game management and all other responsibilities in his job description.

“Bheki is already familiar with the team, having joined the team in early pre-season as first assistant coach. He has worked together with Mutasa and they will continue working together to meet the objectives and targets of the team.”

Explaining the reason behind their decision to reshuffle the technical team, Moyo said: “The decision to reshuffle (the technical dep[artment) was not in any way influenced by our defeat to Yadah.

“We value Lloyd Mutasa for the stellar job he has done in helping us gain promotion, that’s why we have decided to promote him from head coach to a technical director.

“He is the one who will oversee the entire technical team and will be the strategic driver as we move forward.”

Green Fuel started their first top-flight campaign with 1-0 loss to Yadah on Monday.

They will face Herentals in their next game on Saturday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

First Aid For Accidental Chemical Ingestion In Mining

Compiled by Dr Ellane Simon

First aid should can be offered by anyone but ideally trained personnel to give first aid should offer first aid. When offering first aid always consider your personal safety first. Look out for any dangers and only act when you are confident it is safe to do so.
An unresponsive person is someone not moving or responding when you call them or when gently shaken.

Respiratory emergencies & CPR

  1. Check if breathing by tilting their head back and looking and feeling for breaths.

When a person is unresponsive, their muscles relax and their tongue can block their airway so they can no longer breathe. Tilting their head back opens the airway by pulling the tongue forward. If they are breathing, you will see their chest moving and you may hear their breath or feel it on your cheek. If breathing, move on to step two.

  1. Move them onto their side and tilt their head back. Putting them in this position with their head back helps keep their airway open. It ensures their tongue falls forward and blood and vomit drain out. It is sometimes called the “recovery position”.
  2. Call for help or an ambulance as soon as possible.
  3. If the patient needs CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), place the person on their back on a firm, flat surface and start giving chest compressions aiming for 30compressions in 1minute.
    How to do CPR
Hand position: Two hands centered on the chest
Body position: Shoulders directly over hands; elbows locked
    Depth: At least 5cm
Allow chest to return to normal position after every chest compression.

5 Give 2 rescue breaths (if equipment to do that available). Ensure each breath lasts about 1 second and makes the chest rise; allow air to exit before giving the next breath.

Gas leak, Fire & Burns

  1. Turn off gas if safe to do
  2. Evacuate the area immediately
  3. Do not switch any lights or start an open flame
  4. If there is fire use a fire extinguisher to stop the fire from spreading and ring the fire alarm alerting everyone to evacuate the building.
  5. If someone is on fire remove the person from the source of fire, drop and roll him or her over or cover him or her with a fire blanket.
  6. Cool burn under running water
  7. Protect the burn with sterile, non-adhesive bandage (DO NOT APPLY BUTTER OR OINTMENTS)
  8. Do not break blisters
  9. Call for an ambulance and send to hospital

Chemical spill

  1. Remove spoiled clothing
  2. If skin or eyes affected rinse immediately with clean running water
  3. If ingested do not induce vomiting and do not give water or mi unless told to d so by a health professional.
  4. If inhaled move the person to fresh air and give oxygen if available.
  5. After first aid is given send to hospital as soon as possible.

The Debt Crisis In Mining

X factors of mining “

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .

Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team .
Debt .

Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more .

Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation.

You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

ZIMRA Announces Exchange Rates

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has announced the exchange rates for the purposes of income tax in 2023.

In a notice, ZIMRA said the exchange rates for income tax for the second to the fourth quarter of 2023 will be announced in due course. Read the notice:

2023 EXCHANGE RATES FOR INCOME TAX PURPOSES

Section 37AA of the Income Tax Act [Chapter 23:06] requires taxpayers to submit separate returns where any part of income from trade or investment is earned in foreign currency.

The mentioned section indicates that for the purposes of conversion of allowable deductions exchange rates be used as follows —

(a) in the case of a person making Quarterly payments of Provisional Tax, of use the average auction rate of exchange during the quarter concerned;

For the First Quarter 2023, the average exchange rate is as follows:

AVERAGE AUCTION RATE OF EXCHANGE DURING THE QUARTER

QI 2023……………….. 808.709

Q2 2023 ……………….. TBA

Q3 2023……………….. TBA

Q4 2023 ……………….. TBA

ZIMRA could not give exchange rates for the second to the fourth quarter since the Zimbabwean dollar has had a history of instability since the early 2000s.

The government tried to stabilize the economy with currency reforms, but they were not successful. In 2009, Zimbabwe officially abandoned its currency and switched to using foreign currencies.

The government reintroduced the Zimbabwean dollar in 2019 but it is facing similar problems due to economic challenges and inflation. Many people and businesses prefer using foreign currencies or other forms of exchange.

Income Tax in Zimbabwe:

Income tax in Zimbabwe is a tax levied on individuals and companies by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority. Individuals are taxed on a sliding scale based on their income, while companies are taxed at a flat rate of 24%. It’s always advisable to consult with a tax professional for up-to-date information on Zimbabwe’s tax laws.

State Withdraws Corruption Case Against Chombo

The State has withdrawn another case of corruption against former Cabinet minister, Ignatius Chombo, because of a lack of evidence.

Three other cases against Chombo that were investigated by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) were withdrawn last week.

Chombo appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje yesterday, according to a local daily.

The former Local Government Minister is now left with cases that were investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).

It is alleged that on a date unknown to the Prosecutor, Chombo worked in connivance with some colleagues and signed and manufactured a fraudulent Lease Agreement intending to fraudulently acquire Subdivisions “K” Portion of Nthaba Portion of Glen Lome from the City of Harare.

He allegedly connived with Rejoice Pazvakavambwa, Psychology Chiwanga, Iben Pransisco, James Chiyangwa, Theresa Chenjerayi, Ehas Chote and one L. Chimimba.

It was alleged that during the period extending from 25 June 2004 and December 2009, Chombo and his accomplices forged documents that included a Lease to buy Agreement and Capital Gains Tax Clearance Certificate.

They allegedly later fraudulently transferred the property in question to Alois Chimimba.
The State alleges that he acted to the contrary and was inconsistent with his duties as a public officer.

Now, the state has withdrawn that corruption case against Chombo after failing to provide evidence to back the allegations.

Chombo’s corruption cases:

Ignatius Chombo has been implicated in several corruption cases he allegedly committed during his days in office as the Minister of Finance and later the Minister of Local Government in the government of former President Robert Mugabe.

In 2017, Chombo was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on charges of corruption and abuse of office. He was accused of defrauding the Harare City Council of over $3.5 million and illegally acquiring several properties.

Chombo was also accused of using his position as a government minister to corruptly influence the awarding of tenders and contracts.

Chombo was released on bail in 2018, but he was arrested again in 2019 on new corruption charges. He was accused of illegally parcelling out land in Harare to several companies and individuals, including his relatives.

Chombo has denied all the corruption charges against him, and some of his cases are still ongoing.

Glenview Woman In Soup Over Dubious Sponsorship Certificates

By A Correspondent A Glenview woman was arraigned before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing charges of defrauding desperate people seeking certificates of sponsorship to relocate to the United Kingdom.

Chido Mukahadzi (29) was remanded in custody by Mangosi and ordered to apply for bail today.

It is alleged that sometime in January this year, the complainant was processing documents to go to the UK and Mukahadzi offered to assist her for a fee.

Mukahadzi told the complainant that she had obtained the certificate of sponsorship, which is the first stage in obtaining a visa.

The complainant deposited US$1 800 on February 4 this year into the accused’s account and was told that she would receive her certificate of sponsorship after a week.

The complainant made another payment of US$495, followed by another US$80. The certificate of sponsorship was never delivered.

Sometime in February this year, another complainant was referred to Mukahadzi by an agent.

She supplied bank details so that the money could be deposited. On February 17, the complainant deposited US$2 400 into an account supplied by Mukahadzi.

When the complainant demanded the confirmation slip of the deposit, Mukahadzi did not respond. The complainant called the accused but she became evasive which prompted the complainant to make a police report.

Secretive Hubby Hides Payslip From Own Wife For 10years

By A Correspondent- A Harare woman yesterday told magistrate Ayanda Dlamini that her husband has been hiding his payslip from her for the past decade.

Magret Maturo made the claims as she sought a court ruling directing her husband, Tonderai Chingarande to pay US$100 per month for the upkeep of their children aged six and 12 years.

The court heard that the couple stays together.

“We stay together, but I have never seen his payslip. He works as a general hand at some private company and I want him to give me US$100 per month for the upkeep of our children,” she submitted.

She added that the oldest child was living with a disability and consistently needed medical attention.

In response, her husband said he could not afford the amount.

“I am offering to pay $60 000 inclusive of fees for the two children because from my salary I need to be left with money for transport to go to work,” Chingarande said.

After seeing his payslip Dlamini ordered him to pay $65 000, which is equivalent to US$71, using yesterday’s Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe  auction rate of $914 to the greenback.

In an unrelated case, Dlamini dismissed an application from a Harare woman Alicia Namwiro, who was seeking a maintenance order against her estranged husband, Crumton Dhobolo.

The court heard that their only child was in the custody of Dhobolo.

The matter was then removed from the roll.

Cop Exposed For Interfering In Inheritance Dispute

By A Correspondent- A Highfield family has exposed a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer for interfering in an inheritance dispute.

A policeman who identified himself as Constable Mwachema from Police General Headquarters, Victims Friendly Unit went to Highfield House Number 5641 Old Cannan sometime in September last year saying that he had been sent to chase away a tenant in order to create a space for a family relative.

The officer further alleged that Martin Shata based in United Kingdom filed a report with Police General Headquarters against his young brother Dennis Shata for refusing to accommodate one of their nephew(muzukuru) Tinotenda Shata (26).

The two brothers are fighting over control of the house following the death of their mother last year. The issue is before the courts.

In audios accessed by this publication, Constable Mwachema is heard on several occasions instructing Dennis Shata to create accommodation space for Tinotenda Shata (Muzukuru).

“How far are you in terms of creating a room for Tinotenda. Your brother phoned me this morning from UK this is what he wants.”

In another audio Constable Mwachema is heard saying that he had phoned a tenant where he instructed them to vac ate the house.

“I phoned one of your tenant and I want to know when Tino is coming back home.”

According to Dennis Shata, the constable has been frequently visiting them forcing them to respect the wishes of their UK based brother.

“We are having sleepless nights because of you Constable Mwachema. Why are you meddling in the affairs of our inheritance disputes? Where do you fit in our family issue? This matter is before the courts so tell me, as an officer how do you come in on our family dispute?

In an interview with this publication, Constable Mwachema refused to comment after being asked why he acted in the affairs of a family dispute.

“I work under Commissioner General Matanga, please go and ask authorities handling the matter. I only came to Highfield to save them papers.”

Instantly, Martin Shata from UK phoned this publication questioning the interview held with Constable Mwachema.

“Look here it does not m atter which police officer or police station is handling this matter. All I want is to see is Tinotenda coming back home. As a journalist, you must verify your sources well. Have you been paid to write a story about us? I will do everything to make Tino come home.”

Police Spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyati said his office was now carrying out investigations on the matter. He also said the Zimbabwe Republic Police does not condone such acts from members of the force.

“We do not condone abuse of office by our members to settle scores on inheritance issues. I will assure you we will look into the allegation. Will look into detail and refer to his relevant commanders.”

Uganda Passes Law That Criminalise LGBTQ

Uganda’s parliament passed a law on Tuesday making it a crime to identify as LGBTQ, handing authorities broad powers to target gay Ugandans who already face legal discrimination and mob violence.

More than 30 African countries, including Uganda, already ban same-sex relations. The new law appears to be the first to outlaw merely identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ), according to rights group Human Rights Watch.

Supporters of the new law say it is needed to punish a broader array of LGBTQ activities, which they say threaten traditional values in the conservative and religious East African nation.

In addition to same-sex intercourse, the law bans promoting and abetting homosexuality as well as conspiracy to engage in homosexuality.

Violations under the law draw severe penalties, including death for so-called aggravated homosexuality and life in prison for gay sex. Aggravated homosexuality involves gay sex with people under the age of 18 or when the perpetrator is HIV positive, among other categories, according to the law.

“Our creator God is happy (about) what is happening … I support the bill to protect the future of our children,” lawmaker David Bahati said during debate on the bill.

“This is about the sovereignty of our nation, nobody should blackmail us, nobody should intimidate us.”

The legislation will be sent to President Yoweri Museveni to be signed into law.

Frank Mugisha, a prominent Ugandan LGBTQ activist denounced the legislation as draconian.

“This law is very extreme and draconian … it criminalises being an LGBTQ person, but also they are trying to erase the entire existence of any LGBTQ Ugandan,” he said.

Museveni has not commented on the current proposal but he has long opposed LGBTQ rights and signed an anti-LGBTQ law in 2013 that Western countries condemned before a domestic court struck it down on procedural grounds.

In recent weeks, Uganda authorities have cracked down on LGBTQ people after religious leaders and politicians alleged students were being recruited into homosexuality in schools.

This month, authorities arrested a secondary school teacher in the eastern district of Jinja over accusations of “grooming of young girls into unnatural sex practices”.

She was subsequently charged with gross indecency and is in prison awaiting trial.

The police said on Monday they had arrested six people accused of running a network that was “actively involved in the grooming of young boys into acts of sodomy”.

By-The former cabinet minister Ignatius Chombo has been cleared of another corruption charge when the opposition political Job Sikhala is rotting in remand prison for freedom of speech.

Uebert Angel In Trouble Even Before Al Jazeera Documentary Is Out

The Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) has written to insurance companies asking for information on Ewan Macmillan and Uebert Angel.

This was after the duo appeared in snippets of a yet-to-be-released Al Jazeera documentary on corruption and looting in Zimbabwe.

In a letter seen by Pindula News, IPEC asked for information on Macmillan and Angel’s insurance products and insured assets held or disposed of. Reads the letter:

Police officers from Chombira station Loveness Tsoorai, David Tawanda Hama and Robert Muganhu appeared before magistrate Nembaware yesterday and were further remanded to March 28 for sentencing.

Prosecutor alleged on January 31 a form four pupil at Nyachuru (name withheld) bought a twist of dagga from Tsoorai and went to school.

He was caught smoking by the school head who accompanied the boy to the police station and filed a police report.

Hama and Muza went to Tsoora’s house and conducted a search and discovered a 5 litres container full of dagga twists.

Zanu PF Youth Member Run Over By A Tractor At Company Linked To Manicaland Youth League

A Zanu PF youth member in Manicaland Musekiwa Dziwire died on Tuesday night while working for a company allegedly linked to the youth league at a timber plantation.

Musekiwa Dziwire famously known as ‘Pastor Marvelous’ was the operations manager for Manicaland Youth Development Company—a company run by Stanley Sakupwanya—the Zanu PF provincial youth chair.

Musekiwa died after being run over by a tractor at the timber plantation .

According to sources, the company was formed to assist party youths with resources and won a contract to harvest timber for Allied Timbers on behalf of the eight districts in the province but Sakupwanya privatized the entity.

Up to date the directors representing the company remain a secret to the Manicaland Youth League members.

“Dziwire was working as operations manager at MYDC which was supposed to be a Zanu PF youth company but Sakupwanya privatized and turned it into his entity. He has not been buying safety equipment for those working at the company in the end people’s lives are put to risk,” said a source.

Another source added; “from the proceeds of the contracts, Sakupwanya has invested the money in purchasing a house for himself and a top of the range vehicle. Instead of acquiring machinery for use at the company like trucks, he invested all the proceeds into his lavish lifestyle.”

Sakupwanya is currently campaigning to be the MP on the Zanu PF youth quota for Manicaland and some youths allege that he is using some of the funds meant for young people to oil his campaign.

The Manicaland youth league formed MYDC in 2022 to spearhead youth empowerment in eight districts namely, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Buhera, Mutasa, Mutare, Zimunya and Marange but Sakupwanya handpicked his cronies who include the now late Dziwire to share the proceeds from the company and failed to invest in equipment.

“He bought a house recently in Rusape using the money from the company yet the youths are suffering. The company was supposed to work for the youths but it was working for him (Sakupwanya and his cronies). The operations at the company are not safety complaint,” said a Zanu PF member.

When reached for a comment, Sakupwanya confirmed the death of Dziwire but denied that it was due to safety issues.

“Please don’t bring in politics in the death of a comrade,” said Sakupwanya.

The deceased will be buried in his rural home in Manicaland.

Trend:

Car theft is a significant problem in Zimbabwe, particularly in urban areas such as Harare and Bulawayo.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), there were 3 241 reported cases of motor vehicle theft in 2020, with the majority of cases occurring in Harare.

Car theft in Zimbabwe is driven by a number of factors, including high demand for second-hand cars, limited availability of new cars due to the country’s struggling economy, and a lack of effective law enforcement. Additionally, car theft syndicates often operate in the country, stealing cars and selling them in neighbouring countries or dismantling them for parts.

Addressing car theft:

The Zimbabwean government has implemented a number of measures, including increasing police patrols in high-risk areas, establishing specialized units to investigate car theft cases, and implementing measures to make it harder for stolen cars to be sold or exported.

However, more needs to be done to effectively combat car theft in Zimbabwe and improve the security of car owners. This includes investing in modern crime-fighting technologies and improving the country’s economy to reduce the demand for stolen vehicles.

There are several steps that motorists can take to help prevent car theft:

  1. Always lock your car doors and windows when you park your car, even if you are just running a quick errand. This simple step can deter many car thieves.
  2. Use an anti-theft device such as an alarm system, steering wheel lock, or GPS tracking device. These devices can make it much more difficult for a thief to steal your car.
  3. Park in well-lit areas. Avoid parking in isolated or poorly-lit areas where a thief could easily break into your car without being noticed.
  4. Don’t leave valuables in your car. This can make your car a more attractive target for thieves.
  5. Don’t leave your car running.
  6. Install a tracking system which can help you locate your car if it is stolen.
  7. Be aware of car theft trends in your area, and be aware of any new tactics being used by thieves.

“I Was Learning Politics”: “Parliament Dumb” Zanu PF MP Pleads With Electorate

By A Correspondent- People of Mazowe North constituency feel betrayed by their Member of Parliament Campion Mugweni who has failed to make a single contribution in Parliament for five years.

The electorate told Mugweni at a meeting in Mvurwi that they sent him to Parliament to speak on their behalf and not to add numbers.

“We are shocked that our MP cannot even make a single contribution in Parliament one wonders if we have a representative in Parliament, I am sure we can verify this fact by checking the parliamentary hansard. Not even a single contribution from the MP can be located” Gift Dzobo said.

Sekai Nyamasoka said, “The duty of an MP is to speak but we are not happy with you honourable you are dumb in Parliament why?”

Mugweni begged for another term saying he was learning.

“I know you feel let down but please give me another term because the first term you gave me l was learning politics,” he said.

Other people said they could not send him to Parliament to learn instead they want a person who is able to represent them in the house of Assembly.

“Surely we cannot send an MP to Parliament to learn we want a representative who if it pleases the President can be appointed a Minister,” Joice Madombwe said.

However, Mugweni is fighting hard to get another term despite him missing in his constituency for a long time only to resurface for the ZANU PF primaries.
