Tragedy As Lightning Kills Two

VILLAGERS in the Ndimimbili area under Chief Mabhikwa in Lupane, Matabeleland North province were left shocked after a bolt of lightning fatally struck a man and his daughter leaving his wife with serious burns.

The incident happened on 13 November while the now deceased Evans Moyo (22), his wife Nomatter Moyo (23) and their three-year-old daughter were in the kitchen having supper.

A source said Moyo’s daughter was sitting next to him when a bolt of lightning struck him.

His daughter died a few moments after the attack.

“This is shocking and it’s our first time to witness such a tragedy in our area. The lightning almost wiped off Moyo’s family and his wife was lucky that she survived and was left with severe burns,” said the source.

In a related incident a woman from Binga, Tuuse Nyoni was also fatally struck by lightning while sitting in the kitchen hut with her five-year-old daughter.

Matabeleland North acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Christopher Mahohoma confirmed both incidents.

“We would like to urge members of the public to avoid sheltering themselves under trees and in open buildings such as unroofed car garages or under shades. When they are indoors they should not wash plates or do laundry when it’s raining.”

CCC Prepares to Govern

Re: CCC Preparing for Governing.

How best can we help other fellow members who may need to upgrade or improve both their academic and professional qualifications, preparing them to fit for employment in the new CCC administration, after 2023 plebiscite.

Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda....
Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda

I learnt through out the hard way during the GNU, MDC and Zanu PF ,2009- 2013 where some of us were left in the cold because of inferior qualifications then. Dr M R TSVANGIRAI, the late was forced to deploy novices like Obert Guru as the Deputy minister of Justice for senior party members of his requisite professional qualifications. That taught me a hard lesson that it’s not activism alone that makes one suitable for appointment in the higher and strategic positions in a government .
We have many young people without full ‘O’ level let alone higher educational qualifications who may be disappointed in the New government deployment portfolio/ labour wise .To avoid that,I suggest they have to be prepared now before it’s too late. It will be distatrous if CCC government would end up deploying yester adversaries than our own because of being under qualified , therefore.
Please, give your suggestions how this could be averted.

Sincerely yours
Dr Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda

Police Boss Admits Being Corrupt

By-Commissioner General of Police, Godwin Matanga has admitted that police officers are corrupt.

He said that his subordinates were soiling the image of the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

He made the remarks in his opening remarks at the 2022 ZRP Senior Officers’ Conference held in Harare yesterday, according to H-Metro. He said:

The shameful behaviour by some members as well as corruption by rogue elements within the rank and file continues to bring disdain on the image of the organisation.

May I reiterate that the organisation will not condone indiscipline of whatever form. All errant police officers, regardless of rank have been put on notice.

For the avoidance of doubt, we shall not falter in emboldening our zero-tolerance stance on corruption.

His remarks come as reports of crimes committed by serving or retired police officers have been on the rise in recent years.

Some police officers have been arrested for crimes such as theft, armed robbery and corruption.

High Court Removes Marry Chiwenga Case From The Roll

By-The High Court has struck off the roll a property dispute case involving Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his estranged wife Marry Mubaiwa.

High Court judge Justice Owen Tagu removed the case from the roll after noting that the matter was not moving due to several postponements and the non-availability of the defendant and the applicant.

Tagu also said he could not keep holding the record when the case was not progressing, NewsDay reported. He said:

I could not, therefore, keep on holding onto the file. Also disturbing is the fact that since February 9 the second defendant has not filed its appearance to defend as well as other pleadings despite being aware that it had been joined as a second defendant in terms of the rules of this honourable court; it was supposed to have done so in terms of the rules of this honourable court.

The only way to go about this problem is to remove the matter from the roll and parties be given guidelines.

He also ordered that the registrar be directed to set the matter down for hearing on any available date after new pleadings have been made.

“We Have No Business Joining The Commonwealth”

18 November 2022

By Linda Tsungirirai Masarira- 42 years after independence, my beloved Zimbabwe should be positioning itself for total sovereignty and protection of our territorial integrity.

Zimbabwe should be leading the way in nationalizing all economic sectors that have the potential to transform Zimbabwe into a first world continent.

We set the tone for Africa, when we took back our land from the white farmers who stole the land from our ancestors and pushed them into barren lands in region 5.

That move alone shook the white capital monopoly, Zimbabwe was isolated, we were booted out of the very commonwealth that the current government now seeks to rejoin and economic sanctions were imposed on Zimbabwe.

Fair and fine we have been intoxicated with a colonial hangover for the past 42 years and at what point are we going to sober up, rehabilitate ourselves as a people, as a nation and start constructing the Zimbabwe that we want which has real equal opportunities for all. We have to be able to interrogate ourselves and speak the uncomfortable truths of how leadership in the ruling party and the other two opposition parties mainly CCC and MDC have no drive at all to change the system of governance in this country which was inherited from the colonial regime of Ian Smith.

If there was any sincerity in transforming all the systems in this country, we would be at a higher stage socially, politically and economically.

Sadly the crop of politicians we have in these 3 political parties are mainly interested in power retention and primitive accumulation of wealth and not tangible development hinged on organic homegrown economic models that can make Zimbabwe a first world continent.

Commonwealth is a contemporary manifestation of the British empire, it is a vessel of former colonies with the former imperial master at the helm. British companies control more than $1 trillion worth of Africa’s key resources like gold, diamonds, gas and oil.

What have African countries ever benefited from being commonwealth members except being countries that are further exploited in the guise of a so called commonwealth? Whose commonwealth when there hasn’t been any significant transformation of the so called commonwealth member states beside perpetuation of unending foreign debt.

All countries use diplomacy to lobby in their own interests and I have always said that diplomacy is a farce. Until African countries realize that multilateralism is a creature that has been used to further exploit poor and vulnerable countries, Africa will remain running all over the globe with begging bowls. In Britain’s case, the Commonwealth has served very nicely to advocate its particular shopping list: liberalised, extractor-friendly regimes, low corporate tax rates, and a creative system of tax havens predominantly located in other Commonwealth countries.

As a result, Africa loses £30bn more each year than it receives in aid, loans and remittances.

In the Caribbean 14 nations including a good number of Commonwealth members are attempting to sue the British government for reparations for four centuries of slavery, and Britain is using jurisdiction issues arising from the Commonwealth to block the claim.

If Britain is blocking the claim of reparations from Caribbean countries using commonwealth membership as a scapegoat, it shows that the very commonwealth membership is a tool for repression and suppression.

The Great Britain was built by the sweat and blood of the Blackman, their economy was strengthened by stolen mineral resources from Africa which the whole of Africa should be demanding reparations for instead of being given these useless aid that keep us in servitude and debt.

My heart bleeds when I see the Zimbabwean government making efforts of rejoining this useless Commonwealth of nations which is just a mere post colonial club. The Commonwealth still serves only to bolster Britain’s sense of importance in the world and to make it appear that its outdated stiff upper lipped monarch still has a role in the modern world.

We should never be comfortable of joining groupings that have no tangible benefit to the people of Zimbabwe.

The Commonwealth is not a free trade body like, the EU, or a unified defence group like NATO, or even an international quasi-legal body like the UN. It does not seek to do anything much, other than vaguely demand that members be at least nod towards democracy.

The nod of democracy which is defined in British terms which I find quite absurd.

My conclusion therefore is that we have no business joining the commonwealth.

Zimbabwe should be focusing on entrenching Pan Afrikan values, interests and principles which will enable native Zimbabweans to own and control all the means of production in our quest to make Zimbabwe an economic powerhouse.

Zimbabwe will never be an economic giant using foreign currency and allocating key critical mining concessions to foreign investors. We need to be able to encourage more Local Investment, champion wealth creation within native Zimbabweans and strengthening of the Zimbabwe dollar which again should be renamed to a wholly Zimbabwean name, rebranded and given a strong lease of life.

The economic stability strategies which should be implored should start by dumping all the eurocentric economic models that we are using which destroyed our economy.

We should define our own economic models and start doing things the Zimbabwean way to benefit Zimbabwean people. Where there is a will there is always a way.

Cop Hauled To Court For Disrupting Zanu PF Meeting

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo-based police officer Tuesday appeared before the magistrate for allegedly interrupting a ZANU PF meeting in the New Magwegwe suburb on Saturday.

Eriezel Gondo (33) was charged with “disturbing a public gathering” when he appeared before magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.

The court remanded him out of custody on a ZW$30,000 bail until December 13, 2022.

His lawyer Nqobani Sithole of Ncube Attorneys complained to the court that Gondo was severely assaulted by the complainants before he was handed over to the police.

Magistrate Mjanja ordered the State to carry out investigations on the complaints raised by the defence before postponing the case.

What happened:

Court papers suggest that Gondo, who was reportedly drunk, interrupted a meeting of ZANU PF’s DCC Area Two which was underway at Mabhodoko Shopping Centre in New Magwegwe last Saturday.

He reportedly arrived at the meeting and told ZANU PF supporters that they must disperse.

Moses Charumbira, who is the secretary for security, rebuked him and asked him to leave the venue.

Gondo reportedly returned half an hour later and told the meeting:

Ndoda kukunyorerai petition vanhu veZanu PF munozviitisa.

After uttering the alleged words, Gondo was again chased away, but he returned a few minutes later and uttered the words:

What are you talking about? The youths are hungry and jobless!

He then left the meeting venue and went to a nearby bottle store where he further shouted:

Muri kurega ava veZanu PF vachiita musangano wavo isu tichifa nenzara; handei tose tinovarova! (Why are you allowing these Zanu PF people to hold a meeting while we are struggling with hunger; let’s go and beat them up).

Prosecutors say Charumbira followed Gondo supported by a party colleague and effected a “citizen’s arrest” on the accused and handed him over to Magwegwe Police Station where a docket was opened.

The two cases are just a fraction of unresolved cases of sexual exploitation.

ZIM MAKES YET ANOTHER DATA PROTECTION ACT-RELATED ARREST AS AUTHORITIES INTENSIFY SNOOPING ON SOCIAL MEDIA

HRDs Alert

17 November 2022

ZIMBABWEAN authorities have arrested a teenager and charged him with cyber-bullying and harassment in yet another onslaught against perceived opponents of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ruling ZANU PF party.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers on Tuesday 15 November 2022 arrested Tafadzwa Jaji, a 19 year-old student at Mutare Polytechnic College, and charged him with cyber-bullying and harassment as defined in section 164(B) of the Data Protection Act.

Prosecutors alleged that Jaji, who is represented by Peggy Tavagadza of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), generated and sent “abusive voice note messages” on Mutare Polly Diaries WhatsApp group, accusing some ZANU PF party members of being murderers, dogs and claiming that the ruling party is rotten.

By doing so, prosecutors charged that Jaji intended to coerce, intimidate, harass, threaten, bully, cause substantial emotional distress, degrade, humiliate and demean members of the Mutare Polly Diaries WhatsApp group.

The prosecutors also alleged that Jaji insulted members on the WhatsApp group by using vulgar language. The electrical power engineering student, who appeared before Mutare Magistrate Langton Mukwengi on Wednesday 16 November 2022, was released on free bail and returns to court on 15 December 2022.

Jaji is the latest person to be arrested and represented by ZLHR on charges of contravening the Data Protection Act. In May 2022, Chegutu resident Emmanuel Magunda was apprehended and charged with cyber-bullying and harassment for allegedly sending an image on a Whatsapp group titled Berina News of a cockroach bearing the head of President Mnangagwa, which police officers said was derogatory of the ZANU PF party leader.

“I Was Nearly Detained At Heathrow Airport”: Mai Titi

Mai Titi

By A Correspondent- Mai TT says she was nearly detained and denied entry into the UK. She said she was handed a notice of intention to detain when she landed at Heathrow Airport.

She said she was questioned for hours on the reason for her visit. Apparently some Zimbabweans had written to UK Immigration claiming that Mai TT was coming for a political meeting.

She said she was shocked by the lies and had to fight to convince the officers. Mai TT said she was tired of her false association with Zanu PF and bitterly regrets having a picture with President Mnangagwa.

CCC Dismissed Jonathan Moyo, Zhuwao Apology Letter As Zanu PF Theatrics

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says it is not focused on the political “theatrics” currently playing out in ruling party Zanu-PF which have seen the party welcoming back self-exiled former senior members after they issued a public apology.

Former cabinet ministers Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao apologised to “Zanu-PF members” for supporting the Nelson Chamisa-led CCC. And calling for the ruling party’s removal from power.

The duo’s relationship with Zanu-PF turned sour at the height of factional fights in the party in 2017 which resulted in the ouster of then leader Robert Mugabe.

In their apology statement, Moyo and Zhuwao were scathing about CCC, saying “we hoped in vain that Chamisa would break barriers and forge a new platform on which a cross section of citizens straddling the political divide could converge, based on Zimbabwe’s founding values and principles stipulated in section 3 of Zimbabwe’s Constitution.”

However, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the opposition is focused taking over the levers of power in next year’s general elections.

“A complete non-event which is wholly irrelevant to the task we have at hand,” said Mahere in reference to Moyo and Zhuwao’s statement.

“Our goal is to win Zimbabwe for change. The continued confusion, grubby deals and theatrics by Zanu-PF are of no interest to us whatsoever.

“We are preparing to win big in 2023 so we deliver freedom, dignity and prosperity for Zimbabweans.”

ZANU-PF has since expressed willingness to readmit Moyo and Zhuwao who have lived outside the country since the 2017 military coup.

The two were part of the G-40 Zanu-PF faction that was tussling for the leadership of the revolutionary party against the rival Lacoste group backing then vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The Lacoste camp prevailed, albeit, with the help of the military which forced the aged Mugabe to step down resulting in Mnangagwa taking over leadership of the party and country.

Milken Institute and Motsepe Foundation Announce New $2m Prize Competition In Green Energy

ABU DHABI, UAE, (November 17, 2022) – The Milken Institute and the Motsepe Foundation today launched the Milken-Motsepe Prize in Green Energy, a $2 million prize competition to reward entrepreneurs and innovators working to address one of the most pressing and immediate challenges of our time—access to green, renewable energy.

The winning individual or team will be awarded $1 million, with an additional $1 million disbursed throughout the competition as finalists progress and field test ideas. Registration for the prize is open now. There is no cost to apply, and anyone, anywhere in the world is eligible to submit their idea for consideration.

This prize competition in Green Energy is designed to cast a wide net for inclusive innovation, providing funding, support, and product testing to find the best solutions for sustainable and renewable energy. Currently, more than 600 million people across the African continent lack access to electricity. Lack of reliable energy hinders economic growth, from startups in rural zones to medium enterprises in capital cities. Milken-Motsepe Prize registrants have the chance to play a vital role in creating affordable, sustainable, and renewable energy access for a world in need of innovative solutions to unlock human potential and increase financial and social mobility.

“Good ideas can and do come from anywhere in the world,” said Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation. “Entrepreneurs and new technologies can provide the solutions that will secure sources of sustainable and renewable energy for generations to come, in Africa and around the globe. The Milken-Motsepe Prize in Green Energy will catalyze market creation for innovative, renewable energy solutions and drive private sector growth as well as improve the socioeconomic living conditions of millions in Africa.”

Winning teams will demonstrate the ability to deploy innovative green energy solutions at scale in Africa, with the goal of dramatically expanding renewable energy access. Teams should make use of new technologies or adapt existing technologies in innovative ways to generate at least 60 kWh of off-grid electricity daily (24 hours) using green energy sources.

“Population size and energy needs are both rising rapidly, creating an urgent need to find sustainable sources of renewable energy. Prize competitions have proven over and over the power of human ingenuity to solve seemingly intractable problems,” said Emily Musil Church, PhD, senior director at the Milken Institute. “We hope to see a broad range of innovative ideas on how to create scalable, green energy systems that will allow for increased economic activity on the African continent and beyond.”

This is the second competition in the Milken-Motsepe Innovation Prize program, a series of multimillion-dollar prize competitions for entrepreneurial and technological solutions that accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa and globally. The first prize, the Milken-Motsepe Prize in AgriTech, was announced in 2021 and will be awarded in May 2023 at the Milken Institute Global Conference.

The Milken-Motsepe Prize in Green Energy is focused on the energy crisis in Africa, but the ideas and solutions generated could be used to help the 940 million people, or 13 percent, who do not have access to electricity globally.

How to Enter

Teams from anywhere in the world can register now and submit designs and business models. An independent panel of expert judges will select semi-finalist teams to receive $20,000 each to develop small-scale prototypes. In the final round, teams will demonstrate their entries in field tests which will be evaluated for their ability to:

  • Dramatically expand access to green, affordable, renewable energy
  • Reduce the exposure of vulnerable communities in Africa to the impacts of climate change
  • Stall and reverse greenhouse gas emissions

In addition to the prize money, teams will benefit from access to networking, training, and other resources. To register for the prize or to learn more, visit milkenmotsepeprize.org

Binga By-Election Campaign Peaceful- CCC

THE opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has described the campaign environment in Binga as “peaceful and calm” ahead of by-elections slated for early next month.

National polls management agency, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), recently announced council by-elections in Binga ,Victoria Falls and Gweru.

All the seats fell vacant after the incumbent councillors were recalled by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC Alliance party.

CCC Matebeleland North interim chairperson, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, claimed that since the election dates were announced, Zanu-PF has not been visible on the ground.

“This is one of the elections which CCC is literally campaigning alone,” the opposition legislator said.

“Zanu-PF and its surrogate MDC-T seems to have chickened out from the by- election race despite the fact that they are the ones who caused the polls to happen.”

The CCC provincial chairperson said, unlike the violence which rocked the recent by-election in Matopos and Insiza, the environment in Binga was peaceful.

“Our people are campaigning peaceful here,” he said.

“However, we are aware that Zanu-PF normally has a strategy of unleashing violence during the last days of the polls; we are ready for them.”

Suspected Zanu-PF supporters went on a rampage, assaulting CCC members including legislators during the Insiza and Matopos by-elections.

The ruling party’s chairperson for Matebeleland North, Richard Moyo could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was not reachable.

ZEC Says It’s Okay To Charge 187K For Voters’ Roll

By Newsday | The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has justified the US$187 000 charge for a hard copy of the voters roll saying it reflects the cost of its production.
It also said it could not avail an electronic voters roll to stakeholders at the moment fearing that it could be tampered with.

Zec chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana said this in a letter dated November 14 addressed to the Election Resource Centre (ERC), an independent election watchdog.

This was after Zec was given a seven-day ultimatum by ERC to release the document.

“The Zec takes note of the concerns raised by your client. The costs of providing a hard copy of the national roll is, as you acknowledge, regulated by Statutory Instrument 145 of 2022 which we believe are the reasonable costs of producing the same,” Silaigwana said.

“Regarding the provision of an electronic copy of the voters roll, we reiterate that we are in the process of enhancing the security of the electronic voters roll. We believe it is not lost to your client that there are elements that are bent on tampering with our systems and thus bring the integrity of the electoral process into disrepute. We will advise you once the processes are complete and when you can access this electronic copy.”

Early this week, Zec accused data experts, Team Pachedu, of hacking its ICT system, and threatened to cause their arrest after the organisation exposed a number of irregularities on the voters roll.

Independent watchdogs and the opposition are demanding an independent audit of the voters roll.

Silaigwana also said Zec was currently busy with the delimitation exercise, redrawing electoral boundaries, ahead of the 2023 elections.

“The commission is not averse to engaging or dialoguing with your client, but ask that they be patient with us as we work on a critical electoral process (delimitation of electoral boundaries) which process we must complete before year-end if the outcome thereof is to be used in the next general election. We thus are unable to engage them at this time,” Silaigwana said.

Zec said it had started a consultative process with local authorities to split or merge wards that have registered voters above or below the average threshold. —Newsday

Wife Caught By Hubby Sending Nudes

A woman who was busted by her husband allegedly sending her nude picture to her secret lover has dragged the husband to court accusing him of verbally, physically and sexually abusing her.

Felistas Ndowora told the court that she deserted her matrimonial home because her husband Brian Ndowora who is a police officer was in the habit of beating her up whenever they had an argument.

She said her fears went a gear up, when her husband brought his service rifle home and after an argument he reportedly threatened to shoot her with the gun in question saying he was used to seeing dead bodies.

Felistas said her husband also hacks her phone.

“My spouse is abusing me sexually, verbally and psychologically. He sold a car which was registered in my name and bought a Toyota Mark X. I then got a loan from the bank and bought a Honda Fit.

“Last week on Sunday he physically attacked me before he forcibly took my car keys. Therefore, I am applying for a protection order against him so that he stops taking my phone and I also request that this court bars him from coming to my workplace.”

Responding through his lawyer Taboka Nyathi of Makiya and Partners, Brian said: “I am basically not opposed to the relief the applicant seeks from this honourable court but I’m opposed to the incorrect information she has made against me.

“I have a right to access the bank where she works since I’m a client and she has no locus standi to prohibit me from accessing the bank moreover she is a mere employee.

“I have had no access to guns and have never been abusive to my lawfully wedded wife who is in the habit of being involved in extramarital affairs.

“At one point I witnessed her capturing a nude picture and she sent it to another man. I then confronted her after that she cooked up all these allegations to soil my reputation.”

He added: “The vehicle in question is our matrimonial property and it belongs to both of us but it seems she has personalised it.”

Felistas was granted the protection order. Brian was ordered not to physically and verbally abuse his wife and not to threaten her.

Felistas was granted use of the car at the centre of the dispute from Sunday 6pm up to Friday 6pm and Brian would use it from Friday 6pm up to Sunday 6pm. -B Metro

Jonathan Moyo A Shameless Political Turncoat

Tinashe Sambiri|Jonathan Moyo’s return to Zanu PF is not a surprise at all, political analysts have asserted.

Political observers say there is nothing strange about Jonso’s return to his political godfather Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Read article below:

President Nelson Chamisa dodges a bullet Jonathan Moyo rejoins Zanupf…

*Remember Jonathan Moyo!

It was left for all to wonder what Chamisa’s CCC refused to let Jonathan Moyo join CCC. Now it is clear to all who care that after all CCC dogged a bullet.

Since the formation of CCC in January this year, Jonathan Moyo has been in an overdrive criticising Nelson Chamisa for “not having structures.” He launched a polemic campaign to discredit the CCC leader for refusing to take his ill fated advice.

Shockingly, some within the democratic alternative joined Moyo’s bandwagon attacking Chamisa for refusing to install Moyo as his chief political advisor.

To his credit, Chamisa knew that Moyo being the Jonathan that he is, can’t be trusted! A notorious flip flopper and turn coat whose political survival depends on that.

Today the same Jonathan Moyo is back to his 2004 Tsholotsho Declaration godfather! He and his G40 acolytes this week wrote a letter to Emmerson Mnangagwa begging to rejoin the sinking ZANU PF ship. What would have been of Chamisa and the broader democratic alternative had they sheepishly followed Jonso’s advise.

Those who blasted Chamisa for not accommodating Jonso and his ideas where are you? You wanted chamisa to take advice from a zanu?

When we said no to Jonso structure nonsense, some blasted us. He wanted to infiltrate through structures. When chamisa refused he went into overdrive blasting him at every turn.

Kudos to Nelson Chamisa for remaining vigilant!

Ndiraya Speaks On Dismissal

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya has broken silence on the decision taken by the club to not renew his contract when it expires next month.

The Harare giants revealed this week that they will not be exending the youthful coach’s stay when his contract expires on December 31.

Under Ndiraya, the Glamour Boys finished third in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League —17 points behind champions FC Platinum, having led the 34-game marathon in its early stages.

Some critics blame the former Warriors assistant coach for DeMbare failing to end their eight-year wait for the league title, considering the ‘kiss of life’ the team’s campaign got from oil company Sakunda Holdings.

Ndiraya insists the suspension imposed on him by the Dynamos executive in May, is partly to blame for the trophyless season endured in the blue half of the capital.

“For the record: Mr. Ndiraya officially assumed his football leadership role at the club in 2019 May. Due to Covid19, the PSL League for 2020 was cancelled. Only the Chibuku Super Cup was competed for in 2021. 2022 was Mr. Ndiraya’s supposed full season in charge,” Ndiraya’s business manager Gerald Maguranyanga said in a statement.

“Sadly, the same 2022 season was hampered by an untimely mid-season suspension; which ill-timed suspension created intolerable anxiety amongst the players and the coaching staff at the club.

“Mr. Ndiraya endured the unfortunate suspension when the club was sitting pretty on top of the PSL Log. Naturally, such unsettling action affected the team’s subsequent performances.

“Whilst the final Position 3 of 18 achieved by Dynamos FC on the PSL log was not glorious, it
is also not abject failure considering the prevailing difficult conditions of service at Dynamos FC,” added Maguranyanga.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Diabetes

World Diabetes Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes as a global public health issue and what needs to be done, collectively and individually, for better prevention, diagnosis and management of the condition.

This year’s theme, ‘access to diabetes education’, underpins the larger multi-year theme of ‘access to care’.

In the lead-up to and on 14 November, WHO will highlight not only the challenges, but more importantly the solutions, to scaling-up access to diabetes medicines and care.

WHO’s World Diabetes Day activities will cover issues ranging from championing the priorities of people living with diabetes in advocacy to the Global Diabetes Compact, which drives efforts globally to reduce the risk of diabetes and ensure access to treatment and care.

Chamisa To Win Binga By-Election

By- CCC is set to reclaim the Binga by-election after Zanu PF has reportedly abandoned the political contest.

CCC interim chairperson for Matebeleland North Prince Sibanda announced NewZimbabwe.com.

ZEC recently announced council by-elections in Binga, Victoria Falls and Gweru.

All the seats fell vacant after the Douglas Mwozora MDC recalled the incumbent councillors.

The by-elections are slated for early next month.

Prince Dubeko Sibanda told NewZimbabwe that the campaign environment in Binga was “peaceful and calm” ahead of the polls. He said:

This is one of the elections which CCC is literally campaigning alone,” the opposition legislator said.

ZANU PF and its surrogate MDC-T seems to have chickened out from the by- election race despite the fact that they are the ones who caused the polls to happen.

Our people are campaigning peacefully here.

However, we are aware that ZANU PF normally has a strategy of unleashing violence during the last days of the polls; we are ready for them.

Zanu PF Frog-Marches Gweru Pastors

By- Zanu PF in Gweru is forcing pastors to mobilise for the party ahead of the 2023 elections.

The party has established what it calls Pastors for Economic Development (ED) in the Midlands amid mushrooming of similar forums pushing for President Mnangagwa’s re-election bid.

The religious grouping’s main thrust is to support the vision of President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the country to attain an upper-middle-income society by 2030, ZBC News reported citing Pastors for ED advisor, Pastor Aaron Rusukira. He said:

The Bible is very clear that you can’t separate the church and politics. The Bible says we should pray for our leaders and what we are simply doing is interpreting the scriptures. We are in the summer cropping season, and we need to pray for our country to have a bumper harvest which will translate to massive development.

Bishop Wellington Mupisa, a war veteran said people need to be reminded that the colonial regime used to ban indigenous churches, which is contrary to what is happening under the leadership of President Mnangagwa. Mupisa added:

The President is very clear in his support for the church and as such, we need to also show him support.”

The Pastors for ED national leadership vowed to continue recruiting more members to ensure the church and government work in harmony.

Pastors for ED Founding Chairperson, Evangelist Idirashe Dongo said they wanted to foster the spirit of patriotism in the church as a “thank you” to … Our President (who) has shown great support to his people.”

Also speaking at the event, ZANU PF Central Committee member, Wellington Magura said the party attended the event to show support for the church.

ZANUPF RIGS ELECTIONS: PROF J MOYO.

Prof Jonathan Moyo, an experienced political flip-flopper, well known for the failed Dinyane declaration leading to his ouster from Zanu PF in 2004 and his subsequent spirited attack on the then President Mugabe has reached out to the new Zanu PF leadership for clemency following his self-imposed exile since 2017.

In thinly veiled attack disguised as an apology, Prof Moyo and Patrick Zhuwawo accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of illegitimately taking power from the former president R.G Mugabe through a coup in November 2017.

In the hard-hitting letter Prof J Moyo further accuses the military for the attempt of his life and those of others “who did not support the coup and other corrupt deeds being practiced by the ruling party.”

“Between 2018 and 2020 – on the back of the 15 November 2017 military coup that ousted President Mugabe and his government from power and violently targeted us and other comrades associated with G-40”, quipped Moyo.

Military coup governments are not recognized by either A.U. or United Nations and its leaders are treated as criminals.

In his letter Moyo alleges to have been victimized for suggesting that Zanu PF must desist from using violence in its campaigns, being discriminatory on tribal lines as well as failing to hold free and fair elections at party and national levels.

“Otherwise, as would be recalled, our concerns prior to 15 November 2017- and indeed since then…revolved around the need to address… the need to dissociated ZanuPF from political violence, eradicate impunity in ZanuPF.

The holding of free , fair and credible party and national elections”, further emphasized Moyo.

In the recent elections the opposition has taken Zanu PF to court for the unfair political playing filed, rigging, including unfair jailing of opposition leaders such as Job Sikhala who is still incarcerated without trial after over 40days.

The 2018 Chief justice Luke Malaba Con-Court ruling exonerated Zanu PF of any election misconduct.

Prof Moyo firmly states that despite his apology he believes Zanu PF needs to cleanse its self from past violence and rigging of elections for the purpose of “country’s survival and prosperity.”

However, his desperate move seem to be emanating from the just ended Kenyan elections that saw the ousting of ex-President Kenyatta by his deputy President Ruto.

In his self-styled exile Prof Moyo was welcomed and protected by the then president Kenyatta who unfortunately backed a losing horse in Mr. R. Odinga who might have continued to protect Prof Moyo.

Things turns worse for the exiled Professor when he failed to penetrate the opposition MDC and CCC parties. In his apology letter he accuses the opposition of being ideologically bankrupt.

“It is clear for anyone to see for those pushing the #ZanuPFMustGo mantra have no ideological content beyond the hashtag”.

Pro opposition Twitter handles such @molokele, @wamagaisa @mamoxy have been at the forefront in pushing for #zanupfmustgo campaign.

Moyo, a hard to predict turncoat, has proven beyond reasonable doubt he is a heavy political assert as well as a master in strategy and propaganda. It remains to be seen if the ZanuPF politburo would formally accept the apology.

However, the ZanuPF spokesperson Cde Chris Mutsvangwa has already set the tone of acceptance by describing the apology letter as the “most welcome development, an endorsement of sincere and visionary policies … by president ED Mnangagwa”.

Chamisa Sets Tough Conditions For Zim To Rejoin Commonwealth

“For Zimbabwe to rejoin the community of nations, it is very important for us to stop abusing citizens. You know that there are political prisoners who have been in pretrial detention for more than 140 days.

It’s crunch time for the government as a delegation from the Commonwealth landed in Zimbabwe this past weekend to assess the human rights situation, more than three years after President Emmerson Mnangagwa asked to be readmitted to the body.

The visit by the delegation, led by assistant secretary-general Prof Luis Franceschi, comes as election violence is on the rise ahead of next year’s presidential polls.

It also comes as two main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs, Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole, have been in Chikurubi prison for five months alongside 14 party members on allegations of political violence after organising a wake for slain party member Moreblessing Ali. Sithole was released on Friday night ahead of the delegation’s arrive yesterday.

In addition, 34 Apostolic Church members have been held in remand prison for four months. They were arrested for marching on Harare’s CBD to pray for the country’s economic revival.

Two weeks ago, political violence also hit Matebeleland during municipal by-elections. CCC MP Jasmine Toffa and a number of party supporters were injured and hospitalised after being attacked, allegedly by Zanu-PF supporters.

In a statement ahead of their arrival, the secretariat said it would be in until Thursday on a visit that is part of an “informal process of assessment”.

Commonwealth Assistant secretary-general Prof Luis Franceschi

The delegation said it would meet the president,  members of the government and senior officials, as well as members of opposition political parties, heads of diplomatic missions in Harare, and civil society organisations such as the Zimbabwe Electoral Support Network (ZESN) and the Zimbabwe Women Lawyers’ Association (ZWLA), alongside media and business associations.

“The process of readmission entails several rigorous steps that all countries wishing to join the Commonwealth must undertake and includes countries’ adherence to the values enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter,” it said. These include peace, freedom and democracy.

Zimbabwe was suspended from the 56-nation organisation in 2002 for breaching the Harare declaration and withdrew the following year after the body refused to lift the suspension.

Zanu-PF information director Tafadzwa Mugwadi said: “We welcome the Commonwealth delegation which is coming to do its assessment.”

He said the assessment would focus on conditions that had been put in place so  Zimbabwe can return to the Commonwealth.

“We welcome them and hope their stay in Zimbabwe will expose them to the reality of our democracy, the reality of our peaceful existence as a country and as a people.

“Most importantly, to the tailoring efforts that tell the story of the second republic under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Mugwadi said.

CCC spokesperson Fadzai Mahere said her party believed Zimbabwe should not be readmitted because of continuing human rights violations.

“For Zimbabwe to rejoin the community of nations, it is very important for us to stop abusing citizens. You know that there are political prisoners who have been in pretrial detention for more than 140 days.

“Violations of the constitution, violations of property rights, corruption, the escalation of violence by Zanu-PF against citizens, journalists and members of political opposition and civic society, the shrinking democratic space and the continued promulgation of repressive unconstitutional legislation — that does not bode well for Zimbabwe to be received back into the community of nations,” she said.

While the Commonwealth delegation is in the country, a court battle looms between the Election Resource Centre (ERC) and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZRC) which has been accused of misconduct and manipulation as the country heads towards the presidential election.

This after the gazetting, in August, of hefty nomination fees for aspiring presidential and parliamentary candidates. Presidential candidates have to pay US$20,000 to qualify to run for office next year, and would-be MPs are required to cough up US$1,000.

The ZEC said a hard copy of the 187,000-page national voters’ roll will cost $1 a page. An electronic copy costs a comparatively cheap $200 but the elections authority won’t provide one, for “security” reasons.

Last week, the ZEC demanded that the ERC pay it US$187,238 for a printed copy of the voters’ roll.

“We advise that for the time being the voters’ roll can only be furnished in printed form as the commission is working on enhancing the security of the electronic voters’ roll and same would be availed on a platform at a date to be advised,” the ZEC said in response.

On Wednesday, the ERC gave the ZEC an ultimatum to provide it with an electronic copy within 10 days or it will take it to court. The ERC has engaged Zimbabwe Human Rights Lawyers to fight the case on their behalf.

Late last month, the ZEC told opposition MP Rusty Markham it was only able to provide him with a hard copy of the roll “upon payment of the prescribed fee”, and that it would be sent to him within 30 working days from the date of payment.

Markham has also challenged the ZEC to withdraw the exorbitant nomination fees and told the Sunday Times the electoral body was using delaying tactics to avoid a voters’ roll audit.

“It is clear that ZEC are delaying for as long as possible to supply a clean voters’ roll that can be audited and assessed. Under no circumstances can anyone believe or trust ZEC with their voters’ roll if they are not prepared to have it audited. What ZEC is doing is exactly what they did in 2008 when there was a very strong possibility of the opposition winning the elections, so they are doing exactly the same thing of going back to their default setting of trying to cheat their way out of it. I have no confidence in ZEC at all,” Markham said.

The Herald quoted ZEC spokesperson Jasper Mangwana saying the high price of a hard copy of the voters’ roll was intended to guard against its manipulation and abuse.

“It is US$1 per page as it will have security features to avoid tampering and duplication. Some people have been abusing the voters’ roll by taking critical personal information of voters, including their national identity numbers and addresses,” he said.

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) party leader Prof Lovemore Madhuku told the Sunday Times the nomination fees were unfair.

“The exorbitant nomination fees are both undemocratic and unlawful. They will unlawfully interfere with our political party’s participation in the 2023 elections,” said Madhuku.

“I do not think the fees will be allowed … It would mean the ZEC is now governing the country instead of merely conducting free, fair and credible elections. If we raise such monies for being nominated, how much more is required for political campaigns? I think that the ZEC, on its own, ought to revise the fees substantially downwards.”

US$ Payment For Court Services

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe has increased fees and further introduced US dollar payments for all services obtained within the country’s courts.

The new fees will now be payable in US dollars or in Zimbabwean dollars at the prevailing interbank rates, ZimLive reported citing the Ministry of Justice and Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

The new charges are contained in the Magistrate Court (Civil) Statutory Instrument (SI) 196 of 2022 which replaces SI 222 of 2020.

As of Tuesday 15 November 2022, the inter-bank rate was pegged at ZWL$639.1003 for one US dollar.

Fees Schedule:

i). Marriage licences are now pegged at US$25 (ZWS$15 900) up from ZW$1 000.

ii). Summons or applications commencing now cost US$5 or ZW$3 180 up from ZW$300.

iii). The charge for a notice of appeal is now US$10 or ZW$6 360 an increase from ZW$500.

iv). Transcription of record and request for typed judgment per page is now pegged at US$1 or ZW$636 up from ZW$100.

v). Court record. If one requires to appeal a judgment at the High Court, a copy of the court record of the case must be provided. A record can be as long as 200 pages which needs US$200 or ZW$127 200.

vi). Liquor licence applications (Bulawayo and Harare districts) for temporary and late openings now cost US$350 or ZW$222 600 and US$500 or ZW$318 800 up from ZW$15 000 and ZW$20 000 respectively.

The High Court SI 194 of 2022, Constitutional Court SI 199 of 2022, and the Labour Law SI 197 of 2022 have also outlined new charges in US dollars.

The government has been criticised for demanding foreign currency when it has been accusing the private sector of pegging prices in US dollars.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport announced that commercial vehicles at the Beitbridge border post are to pay their fees in US dollars or South African Rands.

Time Bank Reopens 18yrs Later

By A Correspondent- Time Bank of Zimbabwe Ltd reopened its doors last month, after an 18-year break.

The resumption follows a pre-opening inspection and authorisation by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).

The bank will operate a new business model whereby it will start by lending out to various categories of clients without taking deposits and review the model at an appropriate time, The Herald reported citing a statement by Time Bank.

The statement also indicated that the bank would now focus more on investment banking activities and has already started offering mortgage loans.

Read the statement in part:

The bank is now offering mortgage loans with effect from 27 October 2022 and other loans, with effect from December 1, 2022.

These include:

i). exporters’ loans including first-time exporters,

ii). corporate loans,

iii). factoring of book debts,

iv). discounting of medium-term bills and promissory notes,

v). discounting exporters’ receivables and consumer loans.

Time Bank added that it will with effect from December 1, 2022 offer services such as portfolio management services, advisory services, financial agency services and consultancy services.

The bank closed operations in 2004 and had its banking licence cancelled in 2006, but disputed the reasons for its closure and cancellation of its licence.

The bank in a notice this week said it resumed operations on October 27, 2022, after getting the green light from the central bank but with restrictions not to take in deposits.

Time Bank which was Founded by Mr Chris Takura Tande, began operations in 1997 becoming the first locally-owned indigenous commercial bank.

After prolonged legal battles, it emerged the bank was owed US$5 million by RBZ before its closure which created financial problems for the bank.

As Time Bank demanded a refund of the money, RBZ responded by putting the bank under a disputed curator in 2004 and cancelled the licence two years later.

After the cancellation of its licence, the RBZ tried to put Time Bank into ZABG, but Time Bank objected strongly, and given the intensity of legal fights, the RBZ left Time Bank out of ZABG.

The courts reinstated the licence of Time Bank in 2009 but the bank could not operate, as RBZ could not do a handover of the assets, documents and affairs of Time Bank in the normal way at the end of curatorship, from the former curator to the bank’s directors.

In 2015, the RBZ and Time Bank entered into a settlement agreement under which the RBZ agreed to refund Time Bank US$5 million.

They also agreed on the issue of the outstanding handover/takeover as well as the re-opening of Time Bank, subject to pre-opening inspection.

Zanu PF Is Desperate To Be Readmitted Into The Commonwealth Before 2023 – Its Legitimacy Depends On It

By Nomusa Garikai- Zanu PF stall: Readmit Zimbabwe into Commonwealth before 2023 elections and lift the sanctions soon thereafter.

The number one priority to Zanu PF is to retain its iron grip on political power at all costs. Four decades of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and lawlessness have left the country in economic ruins and a failed pariah state.

Millions of ordinary Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty, basic services such as health care and education have collapsed; the people are so desperate for change they would vote for a donkey if the alternative was to vote for Zanu PF. And so, to retain its grip on power Zanu PF has no choice but to rig the 2023 elections!

Robert Mugabe weather the storm of the 2008 to 2013 GNU without getting even one token democratic reform implemented thanks to the breath-taking incompetence of Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC banded mongooses! Mnangagwa is hoping he too can pull-off a major diplomatic coup by getting Zimbabwe to be readmitted into the Commonwealth without the regime giving up any of its carte blanche dictatorial powers over which it was booted out in the first place.

Zanu PF has its own explanation why Zimbabwe’s application for re-admission into the club is being held up – sanctions. But of course – the regime has blamed everything else that has gone wrong on sanctions, so why not it being booted out of the Commonwealth!

“Our problem with re-admission should be coming from those countries which imposed sanctions against us and who are members of the club.

“They have to decide whether they want to lift the sanctions, if they agreed to have us re-admitted it would follow that they will lift sanctions. We think that is where the problem may be.”

The so-called Second Republic promised to hold free and fair elections in 2018 but refused to implement even one token reform and went on to blatantly rig those election. The Commonwealth had a team of election observers who would have recommended readmission if the regime had kept its promise.

Zanu PF has not implemented even one token reform since 2018 and is it is rigging the 2023 elections right now. The regime has failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, for example.

If Zimbabwe was readmitted into the Commonwealth ahead of the 2023 elections; the Commonwealth will, at worst, express its disappointment with some elections irregularities but still endorse the rigged elections granting Zanu PF legitimacy. The last thing the Commonwealth will want to do is readmit Zimbabwe and a few months down the line kick the country out again, particularly over issues the organisation was aware of all along!

Of course, if Zanu PF is readmitted into the Commonwealth the regime will redouble its efforts to have the sanctions lifted. The regime will take the lifting of the sanction as proof of the party’s principled stand and claim that the country’s economic development will now finally take-off. Meanwhile the party will continue to use its dictatorial powers to silence its opponents, critics and the voiceless masses.

If Zanu PF is readmitted into the Commonwealth our fight for liberty, human rights and dignity will be that much harder if not impossible. It is therefore incumbent on us, all thinking Zimbabweans, to fight for our liberty and the fight starts right here and now – fight to stop Zanu PF being readmitted into the Commonwealth!

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety,” a Benjamin Franklin truism!

These who have callously failed to defend their liberty have not only lost their liberty but the economic rights too! If you have ever wondered why Zimbabwe is in this seemingly bottomless pit: now you know!

Police Officer Arrested For Disrupting A Zanu PF Meeting

A Bulawayo police officer was Tuesday dragged before a city magistrate for allegedly interrupting a Zanu-PF meeting in New Magwegwe suburb on Saturday.

Eriezel Gondo (33) was charged with “disturbing a public gathering” when he appeared magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.

The court remanded him out of custody on a ZW$30,000 bail to December 13, 2022.

Defence lawyer Nqobani Sithole of Ncube Attorneys complained to the court that his client was severely assaulted by the complainants before he was handed over to the police.

Magistrate Mjanja ordered the State to carry out investigations on the complaints raised by the defence before postponing the case.

State papers before the court indicate that Gondo, who was reportedly drunk, interrupted a meeting of Zanu-PF’s DCC Area Two which was underway at Mabhodoko Shopping Centre in New Magwegwe last Saturday.

“At around 12 noon, Gondo who was drunk arrived at the meeting and told them (Zanu-PF supporters) that they must disperse,” reads the Prosecution documents.

“(An) informant, Moses Charumbira, who is secretary for security rebuked him and asked him to leave the venue.”

Gondo reportedly returned half an hour later and told the meeting; “Ndoda kukunyorerai petition vanhu veZanu-PF munozviitisa.”

After uttering the alleged words, Gondo was again chased away, but he returned a few minutes later uttered the words “What are you talking about? The youths are hungry and jobless!”

He then left the meeting venue and went to a nearby bottle store where he further shouted, “Muri kurega ava veZanu-PF vachiita musangano wavo isu tichifa nenzara; handei tose tinovarova! (Why are you allowing these Zanu-PF people to hold a meeting while we are struggling with hunger; let’s go and beat them up).”

Prosecutors say the informant, Charumbira, followed Gondo supported by a party colleague..

The two Zanu-PF activists effected a “citizen’s arrest” on the accused and handed him over to Magwegwe Police Station where a docket was opened.

AMH Workers Threaten “Protest” Over Salaries

By A Correspondent- Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) workers are up in arms with their employer amid revelations that they recently threatened to down their tools when their employer failed to pay their salaries on time.

Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) is a leading media group in Zimbabwe, publishing the NewsDay, The Standard and the Zimbabwe Independent, and online broadcasting platform, Heart & Soul Radio/TV.

ZimEye has it on good authority that last month, the Independent Media organisation withdrew transport services to its employees citing it as a cost cutting measure.

The employer however promised to pay the workers by the 10th of each month.

Said a source:

“This time, they have not paid the salaries attributing the delayed payment to Stanbic bank.

They said the bank had a system error which was delaying them to send the salaries.”

Last month there were reports that Gerald Mlotshwa bought 39 per cent of AMH after the New York-based Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) exited the group as a loan client, where it had remained when Ncube was pushed out of South Africa’s leading investigative newspaper, Mail & Guardian.

Unconfirmed reports attributed this push to a failure of his ambitious digital expansion programme and an accompanying financial disaster.

ZimEye has it on good authority that last year the workers experienced the same where they had a bleak Christmas and salaries were paid late.

A worker told ZimEye, that AMH attributed the delay in payment to the company’s financial standing and accounting formalities.

“They said their year ends in March and they could not close their books of accounts before then,” said a source.

Efforts to get a comment from AMH was work in progress by the time of writing.

Trafficked Women Repatriated

By A Correspondent- Senate President Mabel Chinomona says 128 women who were victims of human trafficking have been repatriated to the country from several countries.

Many Zimbabweans, especially women, have been lured mainly to the Middle East where they have been forced into back-breaking domestic work and s.ex slavery.

Some are lured by false job promises and end up being stranded.

Addressing participants at an enforcement forum for women parliamentarians in Kigali, Rwanda yesterday, Chinomona said the majority of the female victims were lured by promises of well-paying jobs offered by networks without realising the nature of their future employment or the working conditions.

In recent years, the Zimbabwean government learnt that about 200 of its female citizens had been trafficked after falling prey to human trafficking schemes. Efforts were made by the government to assist these women, but only 128 women were rescued and repatriated home,” Chinomona said.

“The programme was conducted in collaboration with the International Organisation of Migration, which assisted with funding for medical and psycho-social support to the identified victims.

The Trafficking in Persons Protocol is a commendable international agreement which calls for the criminalisation of trafficking of persons as well as the provision of survivor-centred institutions or policies for victims.”

Chinomona said Zimbabwe had criminalised human trafficking, and offered survivor-centred programmes for victims.

“The law allows for compensation of victims of trafficking by the perpetrator, such as loss of income, damage to property and medical expenses, among other things”.

“Through our representative function, as legislators we also have a responsibility to share information with our constituents about these human trafficking schemes, so that young girls and women do not fall victim,” she said.

Foreign affairs deputy minister David Musabayana said the repatriated women would be assisted by the Home Affairs and the Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare ministries.

“MSU’s Graduation Ceremony Of Shame”

Dear Editor

MSU is planning  a disgraceful blended virtual graduation on the 2nd of December 2022.Despite asking all graduating students to pay USD$70 graduation fee, lot of students wont graduate physically because they have no distinctions and 1st class degrees.

Majority of students asked to follow proceedings on ZTV in their gowns at home or following on MSU facebook page live graduation. As if not enough virtual graduating students are forced to go to Gweru campus to take their transcripts or arrange and pay courier companies to deliver certificates and transcripts to their home.

This is brutal, devilish, and a denial of students rights to enjoy their graduation. All other Universities in the country had all their students physically graduating.

The regime is in panic mode as the nation anticipates the coming polls.

“We strongly condemn the recent banning of a Voter Registration gig in Bulawayo by the regime in Harare.

This is a very sad development which confirms the death of democracy in Zimbabwe.

Universal suffrage is one of the key factors that resulted in the liberation struggle, apparently, Zanu PF under Mr Mnangagwa is reversing all the gains of the liberation struggle.

We need new leaders. Vote for Change, Vote #CCC,” CCC said in a statement.

Man In For Having S*x With Married Woman

IS this fellow a serial conman?

Brian Nyakwasha, who appeared on the front page of H-Metro on November 29 last year, claiming he was bleeding through his geni_tals after bedding a married woman, IS AT IT AGAIN.

Nyakwasha, claimed to be a gold panner from the Matopi area in Mt Darwin, back then, and that the woman had lied to him that she was not married.

He claimed the woman’s husband bust them in the act at his (husband) house and took his particulars, and demanded three goats, as compensation. He showed the H-Metro crew his manhood bandaged with what appeared to be a “blood-stained” cloth. Yesterday, Nyakwasha again pulled the same geni_tal bleeding stance, but this time in Rugare, Harare.

He claimed he had slept with a married woman from Mazowe last week.

However, this time Nyakwasha claimed to be from Beatrice, and like in the Mazowe incident, he again displayed his bandaged manh00d, outside Madzibaba Masango’s “surgery.”

Madzibaba Masango is known for his ‘‘back-to-sender’’ prayers.

Rugare residents jostled to catch a glimpse of the man and his “misfortune”, with most of them sympathising with him.

But H-Metro correctly identified him as the same person, whose similar story we published, about 12 months ago.

In an interview, an unsuspecting Nyakwasha again repeated that he is a Mazowe gold panner, but now claimed to be from Beatrice.

Yesterday he identified his alleged lover as Belinda, who he said is married to one Oscar of Glen View.

“I met Belinda in Mazowe four months ago where she was selling some goods,” said Nyakwasha.

“We became friends and ended up having an affair and she would leave some of her goods at my place.

“She did not tell me that she is married and I had unprotected se_xual interc0urse with her last week.

“From that day, my manh00d started discharging blood from time to time.

“I could not sleep yesterday so I phoned Belinda and she directed me to her house in Glen View.

“Her husband Oscar disclosed that he was behind my suffering and demanded three beasts.

“I tried to reason with him for two beasts, but he refused.

“Someone directed me to Madzibaba Masango, but I found his Rugare surgery closed.

“That is why I ended up seeking help from Rugare residents,” he said.

One Rugare traditional healer took Brian to his house claiming he would treat him.

Nyakwasha’s game plan, in which he keeps claiming his manhood has been bleeding since he bedded a married woman, is yet to be ascertained.

Mugwadi Caught In Exam Paper Leak Scandal

ZANU PF Director Of Information Tafadzwa Mugwadi has been caught in an exam paper leak scandal.

The scam involves the police intelligence officer, Superintendent Vigai Maunganidze, who is accused of leaking University of Zimbabwe (UZ) law degree examination paper. He has been granted $50 000 bail by deputy chief magistrate Tranos Utawashe.

Maunganidze, who is being represented by Josephine Sande and Marble Tarugarira, was told not to interfere with State witnesses and not to use the cellphone line which he allegedly used to send the examination paper.

He was arrested by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) officers on Friday last week.

In opposing bail, Zacc investigating officer Tafadzwa Chivavarika said Maunganidze had shown capacity to interfere with investigations after he allegedly phoned a witness, Farai Madombi, to delete the examination paper which he had sent via WhatsApp from his mobile phone.

Madombi was identified as a member of the Defence ministry.

Prosecutor Ephraim Zinyandu was in support of the Zacc officer in denying the accused bail.

But Maunganidze’s lawyer Sande told the court that the Zacc investigating officer had failed to submit evidence of the leaked examination paper.

She said the document submitted in court as an exhibit was different from the one in Madombi’s phone.

Allegations were that on October 31 this year, the accused obtained a UZ Faculty of Law examination paper of Administrative Local Government Law for 2nd-year students.

The paper was supposed to be written on November 3 and the accused was one of the students.

It is alleged that Maunganidze shared the leaked paper via WhatsApp with Madombi, who was a third-year Bachelor of Substantive Laws student at UZ.

It is alleged that on November 1, Madombi sat for the Company Law examination at UZ, where some students were caught cheating and were disqualified.

After the examination, Zanu PF’a Tafadzwa Mugwadi, Madombi’s classmate, approached the accused and discussed the exam paper they had written.

Mugwadi complained about the examination paper leakage and said he would raise a complaint with the Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development minister.

Madombi allegedly shared the leaked Administrative and Local Government Law exam paper with Mugwadi via WhatsApp.

Mugwadi immediately notified UZ authorities who confirmed the paper as the one that was to be written by 2nd-year Bachelor of Substantive Laws on November 3, 2022.

The University then issued a notice to cancel the exam.

The State alleges that Maunganidze unlawfully obtained and intentionally leaked the examination paper, adding that his actions dented the credibility of UZ. Newsday

30 Tonnes Spaghetti Vanish

A Harare man appeared in court yesterday answering to charges of theft of trust property after he allegedly stole a 30-tonne truck of foodstuffs.
Benjamin Muringani appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi, who heard that on Sunday, Muringani was given a truckload of 30 tonnes of Mega spaghetti in Mutare, which he was supposed to deliver in Harare.

Muringani then departed Mutare driving the truck which was under a vehicle tracking system.

It is alleged that along the way, he hatched a plan to steal the goods and tampered with the vehicle tracking device.

Instead of driving straight to Harare, Muringani turned into Goromonzi Road, where he unhooked the trailer from the horse.

He then drove the truck horse back into Harare- Mutare highway, where he dumped it near Tarisa Road in Ruwa.

Gold Deposits At Harare Museum? None

The state media dispels rumours of gold deposits around the construction site of the Museum of African Liberation in Warren Park, Harare.

They are fake news, with the works now at 12 percent, reports the Herald.

The construction work had left some speculating that there were gold deposits at the site.

Speaking during a media tour, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Kindness Paradza said it was untrue that there were gold deposits at the site.

“There was this misinformation about what is happening here, with some suggesting that we are not building the museum of liberation but are actually digging gold,” he said. “That is not true.

“There is no gold here, but what is happening is that there is a complex which is one of the major complexes in Harare. You have seen that it is a hive of activity today.”

The giant museum site with the foundations dug and work in progress did look vaguely like a mining site in its earlier stages because of the sheer work that requires the digging up of earth for the foundation, thus triggering the rumour machine.

But Deputy Minister Paradza challenged journalists to disseminate correct information so that the people become aware of what is happening.

“We are just doing serious business as the Second Republic,” he said. “You have seen that it is hive of activity today and also what is happening here dovetails with our new cyber city.”

Institute of African Knowledge (Instak) chief executive officer, Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said: “There is no gold here, but the ‘gold’ is the heritage that we are putting together and the construction is happening everywhere.”

He described the construction of the liberation museum as one of the fastest moving major projects of the Second Republic.

“The museum itself has reached 12 percent threshold as of yesterday and as you may recall His Excellency was here on 21 December last year where he laid the foundation,” he said. “Since then, we hit the ground running.

“We are not stopping and it is also one of the few places where we are operating 18 hours a day and there will be no industrial recess.”

The recreation manager of Instak, Mrs Diana Sitotombe, said the construction was being done in phases and the liberation mall will soon be open to Fifa World Cup 2022 viewers.

“Temporarily we are going to use it for World Cup viewing so that people can gather and drink as a group or individuals whilst watching World Cup matches,” she said.

Construction of the Museum of African Liberation started in July along with construction of the Liberation Mall.

The construction is progressing well and it will house a modern shopping mall with outlets for reputable firms.

The complex will accommodate a host of facilities including a five-star hotel, amusement park, recreational park, animal park and presidential upmarket villas.

The monument is a dedication to all fallen veterans of the continent’s liberation wars and is meant to document wars fought in Africa in its quest for self-governance.-state media

Five In Trouble For Trespassing Into State House

By A Correspondent- Five youths yesterday pleaded guilty to trespassing into State House grounds when they appeared before Harare magistrate Noticia Shenje.

Paul Muchena (24), Kupakwashe Pswarayi (24), Daniel Isheanesu Mbizi (21), Jerome Kamoto Mparure (24) and Tinotenda Shelton Chigwida (20) were remanded in custody to today for sentencing.

The complainant was Abel Mandivhona, who is a police officer stationed at the Police Protection Unit Presidential Guard.

Allegations are that on Saturday at around 0430 hours, Muchena was driving a white BMW X1 along Chancellor Road from Borrowdale towards the city centre. He was in the company of his four co-accused.

It is alleged that while driving along the road between Zimbabwe House and State House; he ignored road traffic signs which prohibit the use of the road by vehicular and human traffic from 1800 hours to 0600 hours.

They were stopped by security personnel guarding the State House, and they did not comply. Their motor vehicle then hit the drums blocking the road.

The five accused drove for a few metres and were stopped by spikes and barricades which were on the road at the intersection of Chancellor Road and Josiah Tongogara Avenue, leading to their arrest. Newsday

Zim Now A Tin Pot Republic- Biti

Tinashe Sambiri| CCC vice president Hon Tendai Biti says Zimbabwe is now a tin pot Republic as a result of rampant violation of human rights, corruption and looting of State resources.

Hon Biti slammed the illegitimate regime for misleading the nation during the November 2017 coup.

Since rising to power during the coup, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has not achieved anything positive, according to Hon Biti.

“On 14 Nov 2017 Army Tanks rolled out of barracks &slid across Zim s pothole weary roadsIn the early hours of 15 Nov 2017 it was self evident that a coup was underway.Since then there has been a massive deterioration in the political, economic & rule of law fabric of Zimbabwe.

5 years later Zim is a tottering tin pot where the human rights space has dramatically shrunk.

The arrest of Job Sikhala, the prosecution of senior leaders , journalists & others , the weaponization of the law, the enactment of fascist laws eg the PVO bill ,the rise of corruption,” Hon Biti argued.

In Trouble For Bedding Married Woman

Prison Guards Arrested Over Bail Bribe

By- Two prison officers on Tuesday appeared in court on criminal abuse of office charges.

They are accused of allegedly taking money from litigants, promising to facilitate the awarding of bail in various cases.
Pamela Mahachi and Collin Muchemwa, both stationed at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts, appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere.
The court heard that on March 4, Felistus Mapurisa was remanded in custody, after being arrested for illegal drug possession.
After spending two weeks in Chikurubi Female Prison, Felistus was allegedly approached by a fellow inmate, who advised her to talk to Mahachi, if she wanted bail.
Felistus, accompanied by the inmate, went to Mahachi, who was on duty and informed her about the issue.
It is alleged Mahachi confirmed that she was in a position to assist and requested Felistus to supply her with her relatives’ contact details. Mahachi allegedly contacted Felistus’ sister, Cathrine Mapurisa, to kick-start the process.
The court further heard that Felistus was visited by a relative, Enita Mukanyi, who was informed that someone could assist with bail.
It is alleged Mukanyi contacted Mahachi on the same day and she demanded US$1 500 for assistance.
Mukanyi allegedly gave Mahachi the full amount, in the company of Cathrine Mapurisa and she promised to have Felistus released in three days.
On March 28, Mahachi called Mukanyi and advised her that bail had been granted at $20 000, and she was supposed to send the money.
The money was sent through Auxillia Murambiwa to Mahachi, who was also given US$10 for Felistus to use as bus fare, from Chikurubi Female Prison.
However, Felistus appeared again in court on April 21, and was remanded in custody despite Mahachi’s claims that she had been granted bail.
She appeared in court again on May 5, and was remanded in custody again, and this caused her relatives to raise alarm and demand their money back from Mahachi.
Mahachi is alleged to have become evasive, prompting them to make a police report.
Investigations revealed that Mahachi gave US$1 300 to Muchemwa, who was supposed to facilitate the bail.
There is also communication between the two indicating that the money had been forwarded to a certain unnamed boss for him to release Felistus.
However, things did not go according to plan.
In a separate charge, Mahachi is also accused of criminal abuse of duty.
The court heard that on December 16 last year, Innocent Gobvu was arrested on money laundering allegations, and was denied bail.
It is alleged that while in custody Gobvu met Tizirai Mudarikwa, who was also facing similar allegations of money laundering and had also been denied bail by the same court.
The court heard that on December 28, Bertha Gadaga went to the Harare Magistrates’ Court to meet her relative Tizirai Mudarikwa.
Mudarikwa told Bertha Gadaga to see Mahachi for facilitation of bail.
Gadaga allegedly gave Mahachi US$300 to facilitate the release of Mudarikwa.
Mudarikwa was released two days after the payment of the facilitation fee.
After his release, Mudarikwa went to Innocent Gobvu’s wife and advised her how he had managed to get bail.
Gobvu’s wife, Rely Vimbai Gobvu, then went to Gadaga, on the instruction of Mudarikwa, to get assistance for the release of her husband.
Gobvu then gave Gadaga US$300, which she then forwarded to Mahachi, who promised to have Gobvu released on the next remand date.
On the next remand date, Mahachi allegedly indicated to Gadaga that the magistrate wanted US$200 more, in order for him to grant bail, and she was given the money on the same day.
After paying the US$500, Gobvu was remanded in custody.
Mahachi failed to return the money on request.

Zanu PF Responds To G-40 Apology

ZANU PF has responded to an apology by the exiled former ministers Prof Jonathan Moyo, and Patrick Zhuwao as it welcomed the two back.

Announcing in a tweet, the Information Director Tafadzwa Mugwadi, said the two will be dealt with as if nothing ever happened in the last 5 years since the Mugabe days. He wrote saying:

This is the way Prof Jonathan Moyo & Patrick Zhuwao. The President & entire leadership of the Party have always said “let bygones be bygones.” This is a good start.

I have always maintained even as we argue brutally then, that you don’t fit in an opposition to ZANU PF. Musangano ihomwe!

Trump Announces Return

By-Former United States President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

If successful, he will become only the second commander-in-chief ever elected to two non-consecutive terms, according to CNN News.

Addressing a crowd gathered at Mar-a-Lago, his waterfront estate in Florida, where his campaign will be headquartered, Trump said:

In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.

This will not be my campaign, this will be our campaign all together.

Trump’s long-awaited campaign comes as the Republicans failed to gain a Senate majority, came up short in their efforts to fill several statewide seats, and have yet to secure a House majority in the mid-term elections.

Trump’s third presidential bid also coincides with a period of heightened legal peril as Justice Department officials investigating him and his associates revisit the prospect of indictments in their Trump-related probes.

The former president is currently being investigated for his activities before and during the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and his retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after he left office.

The former real estate businessman and reality TV star was first elected to office in 2016, beating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a contentious general election.

As president, Trump pushed an “America First” foreign policy approach, pulling the US out of international agreements such as the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear deal.

Mnangagwa Completely Reverses Liberation War Gains

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has condemned the banning of a voter registration gig in Bulawayo by the Zanu PF regime.

Ndiraya Sacked

Isaiah Mupfurutsa has stepped down as the executive chairman of Dynamos, with immediate effect.

Mupfurutsa’s resignation comes less than twenty four hours after the club announced it will not renew the contract of head coach Tonderai Ndiraya when it expires in December.

The club confirmed the chairman’s departure in a statement on Wednesday.

“Dynamos Football Club would like to reveal that Isaiah Mupfurutsa is leaving his post as Chairman with immediate effect.

“Mr Mupfurutsa has served Dynamos with distinction since 2018 when he was appointed as Chairman. Therefore Dynamos Football Club would like to thank Mupfurutsa for his tireless dedication to the team,” reads the statement.

The Harare banker is said to have been opposing the firing of Ndiraya.

And with coach’s departure, Mupfurutsa has seemingly been forced to tender his resignation.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Politicians Giving Us Too Much Pressure- Lloris

France captain Hugo Lloris says politicians are giving them too much pressure to protest at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament, which starts in Qatar on 20 November, has been surrounded by controversy, with several European teams planning protests at the tournament.

The captains of England, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Netherlands agreed to wear one love armbands to protest against the Qatari government’s stance on same-sex relationships.

Denmark announced that they will wear “toned-down” shirts in protest against the reported human rights violations in the Middle Eastern country.

France will also not screen the World Cup matches in public areas in all cities, despite Les Bleus being the defending champions.

Speaking at a presser this week, Lloris suggested that all these planned protests are part of the politicians’ plan to condemn World Cup hosts Qatar.

“There’s too much pressure on the players. We are at the bottom of the chain,” the Les Bleus skipper said.

“If you have to apply pressure, first of all it had to be 10 years ago. Now it’s too late. You have to understand that for players this opportunity happens every four years and you want every chance to succeed. The focus has to be on the field. The rest is for politicians. We are athletes.”

Lloris’ sentiments come a week after FIFA wrote to all 2022 World Cup-bound teams, urging them to focus on football and avoid dragging the sport into politics.

“Please, let’s now focus on the football!” president Gianni Infantino said in the letter.

“We know football does not live in a vacuum and we are equally aware that there are many challenges and difficulties of a political nature all around the world.

“But please do not allow football to be dragged into every ideological or political battle that exists.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Rahman Gumbo Ends Lean Spell

Veteran Zimbabwean coach Rahman ‘Dr Rush’ Gumbo’s Botswana Premier League side Sua Flamingoes edged Morupule Wanderers 1-0 at the Sowa Town Council Stadium in Francistown on Saturday.

Flamingoes desperately needed maximum points after consecutive defeats in the opening two games of the season.

The first hald had very little to talk about in terms of clear-cut goalscoring opportunities, with Flamingoes struggling to test Michael Pepukani in goal for Wanderers.

It was goalless at the half time interval.

Just after the hour mark, the visitors nearly took the lead but Agripa Murimba failed to hit the target from close range.

When it appeared the clash would end in a goalless stalemate, Flamingoes broke the deadlock in time added on when Kesekile Chivese beat Pepukani on the near post, to the delight of Gumbo and his technical team.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Jonathan Moyo Apologises To Mnangagwa Supporters | FULL TEXT

The following is an open letter to the Emmerson Mnangagwa led Zanu PF membership, by the exiled Prof Jonathan Moyo and his colleague and Mugabe nephew, Patrick Zhuwao.

15 November 2022 Dear Zanu PF Comrades, Revolutionary greetings.

Between 2018 and 2020 — on the back of the 15 November 2017 military coup that ousted President Mugabe and his government from power and violently targeted us and other comrades linked with the so-called G40 – we associated ourselves and used the hashtag ‘Zany PF Must Go’ (#ZanuPFMustGo), in our public messaging and communication.
Whereas we stopped using the hashtag and disassociated ourselves from it quite some time back, it is our considered judgment that we owe you a long overdue apology for having used the hashtag and for having associated ourselves with it, in the first place.

Accordingly, and on this day of 15 November 2022, we hereby apologise to all of you Comrades most sincerely and with profound regret for our wrong use of – and ill-advised association with – the hashtag ‘Zanu PF Must Go’ (#ZanuPFMustGo).
While it is common cause that the protracted public differences we had with other leaders in the party and the government became irreconcilable to the point where military force was used to target us with our families, and to overthrow the late former President Robert Mugabe and his government; and whereas that use of miliary force was unconstitutional and set a dangerous governance precedence in the country and elsewhere across the Continent, we have come to the full realisation and conclusion that those unfortunate developments and their tormenting consequences on us did not — and do not — justify our use of and association with the hashtag ‘Zanu PF Must Go’ (#ZanuPFMustGo); which clearly targeted not those who had tormented us but also all of you, as members of Zanu PF.
For whatever it is worth, we supported Nelson Chamisa in the 2018 general election and well after that, but we did not at any time in that process ever seek to join his then MDC-A or his new CCC. As President Mugabe best put it ahead of the 2018 harmonised general election, “there was no one else to support”, given the political dynamics that were at play at the time.
We hoped in vain that Chamisa would break barriers and forge a new platform on which a cross section of citizens straddling the political divide could converge, based on Zimbabwe’s founding values and principles stipulated in section 3 of Zimbabwe’s Constitution.
Otherwise, as would be recalled, our concerns prior to 15 November 2017 — and indeed then as is readily evident from our contributions to open debate in the public domain – r around the need to address the following issues:
• The need to do away with entitlement in favour of merit, while recognising the sacrifices of the nationalist leadership of our independence and freedom fighters , liberation struggle.
• The need to disassociate Zanu PF from political violence, given the party’s history as the vanguard of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle and heroic independence achieved In 1980.
• The need to eradicate impunity in Zanu PF’s internal workings and structures, our national politics and public affairs in favour of professionalism and accountability.

• The need for inclusive party and national politics that eschews ethnicity, racism, regionalism, sexism and ageism.
• The Irreversibility of Zimbabwe’s historic land reform and the formulation of comprehensive strategies for its full, efficient and productive utilisation to drive the national economy.
• The unapologetic pursuit of economic indigenisation and youth empowerment to transform the material and living conditions of Zimbabweans.
• The provision of regular and affordable electricity to households, communities, institutions, organisations, commerce and industry.
• The pursuit of targeted and time-framed Industrialisation and modernisation of Zimbabwe through the teaching and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); and the funding of cutting-edge techno-startups, nationally and offshore.
• The promotion of Zimbabwe’s founding values and principles that are enshrined in section 3 of Zimbabwe’s new Constitution adopted through a national referendum in 2013.
• The holding of free, fair and credible party and national elections.
While we acknowledge that we apparently but unintentionally stepped on some toes when we raised the above listed issues, or because of the manner we raised them, we believe now as we did before 15 November 2017 that the issues that we listed above are critical to and for our country’s survival and prosperity; and that, as such, these issues are open-ended and are thus best addressed through continuous non-violent discussion and debate.
2
As we tender our apology to you Comrades, we do so fully aware that there is no alternative political formation in Zimbabwe that: (a) recognises, values and appreciates the liberation struggle that gave way to the country’s independence, and that (b) is also guided and informed by the genuine patriotic and nationalistic values and principles that shepherded Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

It is our considered view that Zimbabwe needs political formations that not only subscribe and adhere to the letter and spirit of the 2013 Constitution of Zimbabwe – which emerged from a people driven process with a 94.5% yes vote in the 2013 referendum — but which also are anchored in and driven by the pursuit of Zimbabwe’s public and national interests.

In the same vein, we believe that Zimbabwe needs political formations that address the livelihood concerns, needs and requirements of the country’s two critical socio-economic identities, namely (1) new farmers (communal, Al and A2), and (2) vendors in urban centres, growth points and business centres (including civil servants and the few private sector workers). With the foregoing in mind, it is clear for anyone to see that those pushing the #ZanuPFMustGo mantra have no ideological content beyond the hashtag. In our view, the quest to keep or seek power for its own sake is inimical to both the public and national interests.

In the circumstances, our association with the ‘#ZanuPFMustGo’ hashtag was ill-advised and wrong for the reasons that we have documented herein; and that is why we dropped the use of and association with that hashtag more than a year ago, hence the apology we are happy to tender to you all Zanu PF members.

Jonathan Returns To Own Political Godfather

Tinashe Sambiri|Jonathan Moyo’s return to Zanu PF is not a surprise at all, political analysts have asserted.

Political observers say there is nothing strange about Jonso’s return to his political godfather Emmerson Mnangagwa.

When we said no to Jonso structure nonsense, some blasted us. He wanted to infiltrate through structures. When chamisa refused he went into overdrive blasting him at every turn.

Kudos to Nelson Chamisa for remaining vigilant!
