Man Leaves Own Son At Accident Scene

By A Correspondent- A local transporter left his son at the scene of an accident as collateral security as he went to find money to compensate for the damage he had caused.

Evidence Hamamiti rammed into a house in Ushewokunze just after midnight after his vehicle was hit from behind by another speeding motorist who appeared to be drunk.

Speaking to H-Metro, Hamamiti said he was glad to be alive as the impact of the crash had forced him off the road. He said:

I saw a car which wanted to overtake me. It was a twin cab, a government vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle did not notice that there was an oncoming kombi.

So, he went on to hit my truck and also the kombi.

The impact forced me off the road, the trouble causer appeared to be drunk as he was helped to stand by a lady, whom he claimed was his wife.

I left my child as assurance I was working out a plan to find money to repair the damaged place.

We contacted the house owner and he said he is yet to assess the damage but there are tenants there.

He said that the owner of the house advised him to fix the damaged part. Added Hamamiti:

However, this morning they called me saying that they want to come over to my place.

Probably, they are bringing my child but at the moment I am running around together with my wife.-HMetro

TelOne Students Embark On Massive Strike

By- Telone students have embarked on a massive strike to force the state-controlled telecommunications regulator to review their fees downwards.

In a notice by students seen by Zimeye.com, the students said the recent fee increase by Telone was astronomical.

The notice said the demo starts at 8 AM at Glow service station, near TelOne

Below is the notice calling for the paralysing strike:

All Telone students, be it a degree or diploma, are invited to attend a demonstration against the new tuition fee for all programs on Friday, 27 May 2022, at the Telone centre for learning from 8 am.

Our complaints are as follows :

  1. The new tuition fee is unaffordable by almost all the students since many of our parents work here in Zimbabwe and are paid in RTGS less than even 250USD per month

2.Learning conditions at Telone do not meet or match the new tuition fees
i) no wifi or internet connection in classrooms
ii) Poor library without telecommunications resources
iii) Almost 3 quarters of the students are doing online lessons which require an extra fee from students for data
iv) Poor laboratory without standard telecommunications resources
v)Even if you check their circular(sent above) on top it is stating that 01 May 2021 , then again it says 01 May 2022
last but not least the stamp on their(TCFL) circular is saying 01 May 2021
:They are Confused and don’t know what they are doing!

Our demonstration starts at 10:00 am and we are going to start from the second gate of the showground entrance marching to the TCFL campus*

By-Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change has said that they are planning to stage a demonstration against the Zanu PF corruption in the Pomona dumpsite tender.

CCC secretary-general Charlton Hwende said they were in the process of organising the demonstration.

CCC posted on Twitter:

The Pomona stinking Deal must be Stopped. Complaining here on Twitter without taking action is not going to stop these thieves from stealing from us. All companies currently paying the $50 per load must stop & we must visit Pomona Dump site as citizens to chase away the looters.

Condom Prices Soar

By- In a shocking development, a pack of condoms is now costing more than a domestic worker’s salary.

Journalist and social rights activist Hopewell Chin’ono said Zanu PF’s corruption caused this.

He posted on Twitter:
This might help you understand Zimbabwe’s economic collapse. The Zimbabwean Government announced through a gazette last week that the official domestic worker wage is ZW$10,000. Now a pack of condoms today is ZW$12,200! This is what ZANUPF incompetence and corruption has done!

POMONA THEFT: Armed Robber Nguwaya Speaks To ZimEye | EXCLUSIVE

The controversial businessman of the Drax covid money scandal, who has a long history of armed robbery,  Delish Nguwaya has denied involvement in the murder of the Zimbabwe Investment Development  Agency Director, Douglas Munetsi, while responding to the ongoing corruption probe over his (Harare City Council) USD400mil Pomona Dump Site Contract.

Nguwaya won the contract without going to tender, and it sailed through for him shortly after the ZIDA Director, Douglas Munatsi was found dead in a suspected bomb attack inside his Harare flat late 2021

Delish Nguwaya

Under the contract the council is obliged to pay Nguwaya, who has a history of armed robbery USD40,000 per day (before VAT), what ever amount of rubbish the council provides, so he can generate electricity for himself.

The contract also says, the council cannot in any way for any reason, alter the terms of the agreement for the next 30 years.

Nguwaya (DN), speaks to Simba Chikanza (SC).

SC: Hello Mkoma Delish.

DN: Yes.

SC: Are you well?

SC: I am sorry for calling you this late. I needed to ask you of the issue council people and MPs are complaining about, on the Pomona deal.

DN: Who is talking? Who is talking?

SC: You are talking with Simba Chikanza at ZimEye mkoma Delish.

DN: Aaah, but you why do you call to ask my things every time?

SC: You’re a public person now, do you not have public contracts now mkoma Delish?

DN: Yes.

SC: So it’s just asking questions, as you know well your name…

DN: Ask.

SC: I just wanted to ask these questions being raised that you are being paid money running into the millions, and they are saying that …

DN: I’m being paid by who?

SC: You’re being paid by the council.

DN: Do you understand what BOOT is?

SC: On that Pomona deal of yours.

DN: I said do you know what BOOT is?

SC: BOOT?

DN: Yes.

SC: I am listening.

DN: Do you know what it means?

SC: You may speak.

DN: Built, Operate, Own And Transfer, isn’t it? The investor is bringing their own money isn’t it, money to build this? Are they wanting anything from government?

SC: So are you saying you don’t want any money from government?

DN: I don’t need any money from government, yes

SC: I mean it from council, isn’t it?

DN: Hello.

SC: I do not mean government, I mean council.

DN: So how does an investor recoup their money after building, can you tell me. You come with your mission and your money so how will you recover your money?
How do you recoup your money?

SC: Did you see their first comment, that, we the landlord, the council….

DN: No, don’t worry about the council people. They are people who are pushing wrong things, who don’t want development. They are being pushed by the opposition. You bring in an investor and within 2 minutes they are taking them to court. Even yourself how do you take that?

SC: Because they are complaining concerning the USD40,000 per day as rental.

DN: There is nothing like that. There’s nothing like that. Let them give you the contract, isn’t it you’re talking to them? Let them give you the contract to give you correct things, not this which is coming from social media by these people.

SC: Then there is this issue that they’re talking about that your deal went through after the death of Doug Munatsi, do you have a conscience ?

DN: Aaaaah, my friend, what you’re talking about I don’t want to hear it, and I don’t have anything to do with that, please don’t ask me these questions with me.

SC: I am only asking mkoma Delish because you know Mr Munatsi didn’t want your deal to go through.

DN: Who told you that?

SC: It’s a public record. That’s a public record.

DN: Aaah, That’s why I don’t want to talk to you that’s why I don’t want to talk to you because after [finishing] to talk to you, because after this you will be going to social media and say this is what I said. Which is wrong.

SC: No. Mkoma Delish I can throw to you the references and you will see not me, not anyone related to me, these are public officials, MPs.

DN: You, don’t ask me that I know nothing about it.

SC: You know, when people are talking it. Yeah?

DROP. CALL AGAIN.

Mkoma Delish, how do you propose to do away with the tag of accusations that you killed or you’re connected to the death, the killing of Doug Munatsi?

DN: Aaaah I will take you to court, what you’re saying.

SC: You will take me to court?

DN: These are serious allegations which you’re raising against me, very serious allegations.

SC: People are talking and people are making those allegations that’s why I am asking; people are making those allegations.

DN: No, this is nonsense. This is nonsense what you’re talking, you hear? Don’t play games with me, and don’t call me again. Okay? Even if you’re in UK….[INAUDIBLE]

President Chamisa Takes Over Rural Areas

CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC)’s rural mobilisation drive is reportedly giving Zanu PF sleepless nights, with the ruling party’s provincial co-ordinating committees (PCCs) now tasked to counter the opposition party’s strategy.
Rural areas have traditionally been Zanu PF strongholds, but after a strong showing in the March by-elections, the opposition is seeking to establish a foothold in a bid to turn the scales.

Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa acknowledged that the opposition’s rural mobilisation programme has rattled the ruling party.

“We cannot continue to sit on our laurels anymore. It is time to work hard because CCC is now everywhere. They are campaigning door-to-door in rural areas. They are coming to our strongholds and we cannot leave them to do what they please. We need strategies to counter them,” Mavhenyengwa said in an interview.

Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe, who is also Mashonaland Central provincial chairperson, also held a meeting with Zanu PF structures in Mushumbi Pools, Mbire, where he reportedly fretted over CCC’s inroads into rural areas.

“He encouraged party supporters not to entertain and listen to CCC activists. He encouraged village heads to make sure that people are registered to vote for Zanu PF. He also said people, who are warming up to the opposition, were sell-outs,” a source said.

Kazembe was not available for comment yesterday.

CCC interim secretary for rural mobilisation, Happymore Chidziva told NewsDay that the party’s rural mobilisation exercise, code-named Mugwazo, would be a “game-changer” as the country heads for the 2023 elections.

“We have launched a massive recruitment and mobilisation exercise called Mugwazo. We are meeting ordinary citizens in rural areas. This is a nationwide programme in which we are mobilising people to register to vote and recruiting them to the CCC party,” Chidziva said.

But Zanu PF director for information Tafadzwa Mugwadi played down assertions that the ruling party was fretting over CCC’s rural mobilisation exercise.

“We are not going to lose sleep over what MDC or CCC does. We are the governing party. Our focus is on winning the elections in 2023. Our focus is to fulfil the promises we made to our people. Our focus is to improve the lives of ordinary people in Zimbabwe,” Mugwadi said.

Zanu PF is targeting to woo five million voters, while the CCC speaks of reaching out to six million voters in its on-going voter mobilisation drive to ensure a resounding victory in the 2023 polls. -Newsday

Mahachi Goes Into Hiding

KUDAKWASHE Mahachi has returned to Zimbabwe but has gone into hiding as he is terrified over the possibility of reprisals from people who are convinced that he scalded his four-year-old son with boiling water resulting in him suffering third-degree burns.
Mahachi denies the allegations and has engaged a law firm, Tanaka Law Chambers to clear his name.

He says the minor was harmed after he left his custody.

According to a reliable source, Mahachi has been in Zimbabwe for close to a week now, but does not want people to know of his whereabouts as he is convinced that mob justice could be meted on him.

Zimbabweans, on various social media platforms, made clear their agitation at Mahachi and his wife, Rose Tatenda Mahachi, who they blame for severe burns that have seen the minor admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital for a month now.

Attempts to interview Mahachi were abortive as he was not answering his phone.

He also did not respond to WhatsApp texts.

Mahachi’s lawyer, Nkosiyabo Sibanda of Tanaka Law Chambers, could neither confirm nor deny that his client had returned home.

Mahachi’s lawyer, Nkosiyabo Sibanda of Tanaka Law Chambers

“I cannot confirm or deny that. I choose not to respond to that question for security reasons.

What I can tell you is that Mahachi is safe and awaits his day in court.

I will not say more,” said Sibanda.

Mahachi, the source reveals, reluctantly returned home at the behest of his club SuperSport United, who suspended him and “advised him to attend to his family and the allegations against him”.

“He was not going to return home if his club had not cleared him.

He was going to leave all matters to his lawyers.

But now he has no choice, in order to save his career, he had to come home and face the music.

But he is very upbeat and believes that he will win the case in court,” said the source. -B Metro

Mugabe Movie Bootleged

Two Harare men have been charged for piracy after selling copies of a movie chronicling the late former President Robert Mugabe’s rise and fall.

The movie titled Mugabe 2020 was directed by Nigerian film producer Robert O’Peters and has a market value of US$30 million.
Cliff Marufu (35) and Blessing Nhamo (36), who are represented by Tinashe Mbala of Nyawo Ruzive Legal Practitioners, appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Mhiti facing piracy charges. They were remanded out of custody to June 14.
The court alleges that on May 24, 2022, the complainant in the company of one Sergeant Chihiya and Nyanzou visited Marufu’s workplace at Angwa House pretending to be seeking the movie.
According to court documents, Marufu admitted being in possession of the film before charging them US$1 for three copies of the movie.
He was arrested after copying the movie onto a flash disk.
Marufu implicated  Nhamo, saying he was the source of the movie, leading to his arrest.
The movie, which was released in 2020, shows Mugabe’s rise from being a prisoner, a guerrilla fighter and later the country’s President for 37 years before he was toppled by a coup in 2017. -Newsday

Mnangagwa Commiting Terrorism

Tinashe Sambiri| Parliamentarians have accused the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa of commiting terrorism against citizens via the Private Voluntary Organisations Amendment Bill.

Analysts say Mr Mnangagwa wants to gag pressure groups as he fears criticism before and during the coming polls.

In a statement on Wednesday, CCC accused the Harare regime of “terror against citizens.”

See statement below:

Members of Parliament have rubbished the Private Voluntary Organisations Amendment (PVOs) Bill describing it as an act of terrorism against citizens.

The MPs believe the Bill, currently at the Second Reading Stage in the National Assembly, will stifle operations of non-governmental organisation that have been assisting vulnerable communities.

Other critics of the Bill have also dismissed it as unconstitutional and a piece of legislation aimed at abolishing civil society organisations and their operations in Zimbabwe.

NGOs have said about 18 000 jobs will be lost if the Bill sailed through Parliament as it sought to give govt too much power to regulate & silence them against speaking out on corruption & human rights abuses, & demanding transparency & accountability.

Bulawayo proportional representation MP Jasmine Toffa (Citizens Coalition for Change) said the Bill was being crafted at a time when people in places like Bulawayo were not given the opportunity to air their views on its provisions.

CCC Africa Day Message

CCC Namibia commemorates Africa Day under the theme:Focused on the importance of addressing malnutrition and food insecurity.

25 May 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia joins rest of the continent in celebrating Africa Unity Day, also popularly known as Africa Day. This day is celebrated yearly on May 25th, it eulogises and commemorates the inception of the Organization of African Unity(OAU). It is currently a statutory public holiday in several countries such as Namibia, Zimbabwe,Zambia,The Gambia,Ghana,Lesotho,Mali, Mauritania, Guinea only to mention but a few.

As we commemorate this fundamental day, we reflect on the social, political and economic accomplishments of our people across the breadths and lengths of the African continent. It is also an opportune time to take this juncture to focus on the challenges of malnutrition and food insecurity many decades after uniting to liberate ourselves. On May 25th 1963, the visionaries championed by the late vibrant leader of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah and others from 30 of the then independent African states signed a founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to unite against the much hated colonialism and apatheid.

Yellow Revolutionaries in Namibia are cognisant that the agenda of the resolute organisation was barely to bring about socio-economic change, human freedoms and absolute independence to many African countries.

In 1991, the organisation established the African Economic Community, and in 2002 the Organization of African Unity established its own successor, the African Union. Against this clear background of the commitment and dedication of the Nkurumah generation to defeat colonialism and apatheid in Africa, Citizens Coalition For Namibia shall assess the political, social and economic accomplishments in the motherland.

As a sure way of reflecting on the progress made since independence in Zimbabwe, we have not seen any sign of the respect to human freedoms. We have not seen ZANUPF’s commitment to better the livelihoods of its people in a purported independent and sovereign country. It is a public secret that Zimbabwe, once the breadbasket of the region , has for years been facing food defiencies , compelling her to rely on humanitarian aid.

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia blames the clueless Harare regime on food insecurity and malnutrition as citizens continue to scratch their heads for a single nutritious meal per day. We encourage post-colonial African leaders to accomplish the unfinished business of the liberation struggle. Citizens in Namibia are conscious of their mandate to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the liberation war.

Although the politically inept ZanuPF regime would like to blame recurring droughts for the problems of malnutrition and food insecurity, yellow citizens are convinced that the bloody, violent and chaotic land reform program which started in 2000 and displaced competent white farmers from the land that is now lying idle is the source of these problems. As a citizens movement which subscribes to Pan-Africanism- we don’t dispute the idea of giving Zimbabweans land but we absolutely condemn the irrational strategy employed by the late President Robert Mugabe during the haphazard and partisan distribution. Our ardent Change Champion in Chief President Advocate Nelson Chamisa always articulates the party position on the land question. Land should be given to productive Zimbabweans with the potential to address malnutrition and food insecurity in our beloved country on a non-biased manner.

The latest 2021 rural Zimbabwe vulnerability assessment committee rural report indicated that 2.9 million people in rural areas – that is 27% of the rural households – continue to be food insecure during of zenith lean season between January and March 2022. In the same year, the United Nations agency mirrored that its assessment unearthed that more than 5 million people in Zimbabwe are victims of malnutrition and food insecurity. Instead of trying alleviate citizens from poverty, ZanuPF goes around giving them 2 cups of Chinese rice which is a mockery to human existence

In addition, urbanites also fall prey to malnutrition and food insecurity since up to 2.4 million people are expected to be food insecure according to the latest 2021 urban livelihoods assessment. It is quite pathetic that after the commitment displayed by the Nkurumah generation, Africa continues to suffer from malnutrition and food insecurity despite taking full control of their politics and economics. As we commemorate this day, we would like to remind African leaders to revisit the agenda of the Organization of African Unity now African Union.

Are we still United as Africa when our people are still asked travelling documents within Africa? Are still United when our own are being brutally killed both at home and in South Africa? In recent months, we witnessed Elvis Nyathi being set alight in Diepsloot, South Africa, we really miss the visionaries who wanted to see independent and united Africa, may the dear soul of our gallant fighter namely Kwame Nkrumah rest in eternal power. His spirit of unity and cooperation of African countries shall continue to inspire change champions across the globe.

Swiss Video of Mnangagwa Literally Dancing to His Own Song

By Farai D Hove | As the hired BMW’s wheels turned into the street, the ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa immediately swung his hands up repeatedly to the sound, “ED Pfeee,” while being greeted by a handful 10 supporters.

Walking into the meeting room of Zimbabweans, Mnangagwa’s meeting was launched with the song, Kutonga Kwaro. The whole house became animated with the same old coup enchantment. It is the song written by ZANU PF musician Jah Prayzah. With no other politician receiving such cultique, it was too clear that instead of discussing world economics, what he travelled for, Mnangagwa has gone on the literal path of self praise, dancing to his own song.

Events Evolution Hailed

By A Correspondent| A local events management company Events Evolution has been hailed for a world class set up for the live recording of the Great Physician Live Video recording held at Harare International Conference Centre recently.

The custom stage accommodated about 78 people.

The stage made of supa wood, scaffolding and steel has left many convinced that the country is heading towards the right direction in hosting world class events.

Lighting and Led Screen that had a collection of over 60 chauvet professional fixtures (Lights) were used to anchor the Live Video Recording.

The stage has already set the arts industry in frenzy with critics hailing the set up.

Events Evolution director Talent Banda said the The company director Talent Banda said they have been trying to bring world class standards in hosting events.

“Zimbabwe like any other country is doing well in events and therefore we need to bring world class standards as events management company,” he said.

Banda said he was overwhelmed by the response he was getting.

“The stage was on point and the response is overwhelming. I have seen on various social media platforms that people have appreciated our efforts,” he added.

The company has hosted several events that include the recently held gospel concert featuring Sinach and Jack’s at the National Sports Stadium just to mention a few.

“We have been doing well and several people have appreciated our efforts. Our Facebook page Events Evolution Zimbabwe has reference of our previous work,” he said.

Blogger and arts critic Plot Mhako said the set up was on point showing how the country was moving towards hosting world class events.

“The stage was on point.
I have seen stages before but that was great set up. We have to move towards that as a country. Moving towards world class,”

Watch Zanu PF Caught Stealing Elections

By- Zanu PF in Masvingo has been caught red-handed bussing people and getting them IDs at midnight.

Masvingo Mirror witnessed a Mutendi High School bus curiously parked outside the registry office in Masvingo at midnight.

The publication monitored the parked bus from a few meters as passengers, some in party regalia, moved in and out and proceeded to the registry office.

A Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) vehicle is parked behind the bus, and the officer closely monitors the situation in-between trips to and from his office.
Masvingo District Development Co-ordinator (DDC), Ray Hove arrives in his Silver Toyota Fortuner and briefly chats to the man from the President’s Office and drives off.
Mirror chief cameraman eventually sneaks in and joins the process.

It emerges that the school bus is on a political mission. The passengers are actually Zanu PF supporters brought in from Masvingo North, a constituency run by Bishop Mutendi’s son-in-law Davis Marapira who is also a Minister in the President’s office.
The Mirror cameramen observes as the passengers, young and old are shuffled from one office to another as they start by getting pictures taken and then proceed to the birth certificates and IDs.
The passengers are getting instant birth-certificates, then IDs and they are added onto the 2023 voters’ roll. It’s a business class treatment for a process that currently takes up to a year for one to complete.
All is done in a matter of hours.

Getting an ID has been a difficult process over the last three years. New applicants are being told to leave their names at the registry offices and come after three months, when they come at that time they are given yet another three months and the postponements go on and on.
In rural areas mobile registration units process a few IDs a day and thereafter give excuses like the camera is not working or there is no network to complete the process.

A Mirror reporter today went to the same office where IDs were being issued last night and told that there is no network.
Sources in Zanu PF said the clandestine issuance of IDs and registration of voters is just a tip of the iceberg. In Gutu Senator Lovemore Matuke and his MPs including Winston Chitando and Yeukai Simbanegavi are doing it on a grand scale.
Asked for a comment, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) vice president, Tendai Biti said there was nothing wrong with political parties encouraging their supporters to register to vote or get national documents but bringing in Government workers to do the work at night and in secrecy constitutes an illegality.
He said that CCC is ready to take those involved to court.

Hove declined to comment and referred The Mirror to Masvingo District registrar Lawrence Mapara who he said was in charge of the department. Mapara in turn referred questions to Masvingo Provincial Registrar Sithembeni Chitsa who said that she was travelling to Harare before she hung up her phone.
Sanctions Mutendi, a former head at Mutendi and now spokesperson for Bishop Nehemia Mutendi said somebody asked to use the bus but he was not sure who it was.
“Someone asked for the bus but I was not there and I am not sure who it is,” said Mutendi.

The process went on until about 12 mid-night, however it is clearly written on the gate that the registrar’s office operates from 8am- 4:30pm.
Efforts to get a comment from Marapira were futile as he is said to be in South Africa.
Zanu PF Masvingo spokesperson Elphias Murambiwa switched off his phone when contacted for a comment.
Masvingo Permanent Secretary Dr Jefter Sakupwanya said he was not aware of the issue.
“I am out of town and not aware of that. I will look into the matter,” said Sakupwanya.

Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum Executive Director Musa Kika expressed concern at the issuing of the documents after the registrar’s office working hours.
“It raises eyebrows for the registrar’s office to issue national documents after hours. It becomes difficult to ascertain whether the documents are legitimate and are being given according to the book. The registrar’s office should clarify on that,” said Kika.
On the same night that Mutendi School bus was ferrying Zanu PF supporters to the registry office, another school bus from Mapanzure High was involved in an accident while taking women to First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa’s cooking competitions in Vic Falls and it’s a write-off.

Foreign Coaches Eye Bosso Coaching Post

Several foreign coach have expressed interest in taking over the reins at Highlanders.

Bosso’s head coach post was left vacant following the sacking of Mandla Mpofu and his assistants two weeks ago.

Mpofu was fired after the team’s poor performance in recent games.

The club has started the recruitment process to fill the post, and according to the Chronicle, several foreign coaches have submitted their CVs.

Among them is Mexican Javier Martinez Espinosa, who is reportedly the favorite to land the position.

Martinez had coaching stints with Vipers SC and Rayon Sports in Uganda and has been without a club since December 2020.

Serbian Heric Vladislav, who has had stints with South African sides Chippa United, Cape Town Spurs, Free State Stars, Ajax Cape Town and Maritzburg United, has also expressed interest

Other coaches that have submitted their CVs for job include Highlanders’ former gaffers, Briton Mark Harrison and Egyptian Mohamed Fathi.

Meanwhile, Joel Luphahla is currently holding fort while the club searches for a substantive coach.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

MPs Accuse Mnangagwa Of Commiting Terrorism Against Citizens

No Freedom In Zim When Citizens Are Wallowing In Poverty

Bartlett’s Partner Reveals Intimate Details Of His Last Moments

South Africans are still coming to terms with the untimely passing of legendary actor Jamie Bartlett, who passed away on 23 May.

The actor, most renowned for his role as David Genaro on Rhythm City, succumbed to a cardiac arrest at the age of 55. His management revealed that he died in his sleep surrounded by his family.

Bartlett’s partner Rosa Onious has revealed intimate detail of the moment she found out that the actor had died. Rosa said “David Genaro” took an afternoon nap and never woke up from it. Speaking of “David Genaro’s” last moments, she said:

He took his afternoon nap as usual when he is not working just to rest.  tried to wake him up he was lying there on the couch. I was like ‘Jamie, Jamie wake up’ and he was not responding, and I started shaking and smacking him on the face saying you need to wake up. My mom tried to do CPR on him as well and we called an ambulance, paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was already gone.

Bartlett’s death shook the people closest to him because he was healthy and never showed any signs of sickness before the cardiac arrest.

Media personality and reality star Somizi Mhlongo revealed that he was with “David Genaro” at the 012 Lifestyle Brooklyn where they hosted the African Cuisine. Somizi said the actor was greeting everyone at the event, including the kitchen staff.

Madzibaba Says He Is Praying That Mnangagwa Wins 2023 Elections

Johanne Masowe WeChishanu of Africa church leader Andby Makururu has claimed that he dreamt of President Emmerson Mnangagwa resoundingly winning next year’s presidential elections.

“The vision has told me that Mnangagwa will win next year’s elections. We are now praying that he wins the elections peacefully,” Makururu said, during an event to mark the church’s annual international day of prayer themed Peaceful 2023 elections.

Zanu-PF political commissar Mike Bimha, who attended the gathering, said: “Churches have a big role to play in the elections.  The problem is we have people who always bring in chaos going into the elections.”

As the congregants chanted Zanu-PF slogans Bimha added: “We don’t want violence; we want churches to pray for peace during the elections. As Zanu-PF we want to win the elections peacefully, and we want churches to pray for our youths so that they stop drug abuse.”

Civic organisations have on many occasions fingered the ruling party for being involved in the majority of election-related violence.

Suspected Zanu-PF supporters were accused of perpetrating violence against opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters ahead of the March 26 by-elections.

The violence claimed the life of a CCC supporter Mboneni Ncube at a rally which was being addressed by party leader, Nelson Chamisa in Kwekwe.

CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba rubbished Bimha’s claims that the opposition was responsible for the “chaos” that normally precede the country’s elections.

“We will make sure that we hold to account the Zanu-PF-led government as opposition because we offer alternative economic and political routes. We will always oppose whenever we feel that things are not going well,” Siziba said.

Stampede As Wizard Falls On Rooftop

By A Correspondent- A n_ked wizard reportedly fell onto a Magwegwe rooftop on Monday, prompting a stampede in a bid to witness the bizarre spectacle in Bulawayo.

Residents told Southern Eye that they woke up on Monday morning to perform their daily routines, only to see a n_aked man in the suburb who claimed to have fallen from a winnowing basket during a witchcraft mission.

Witnesses posted on social media pictures and videos of the man who said he was from Binga, but failed to explain how he found himself in Magwegwe.

“He was n_aked and his body was painted all over with a substance which looked like ashes,” a Magwegwe resident who identified herself as NakaBhowasi said.

“We were shocked to find the n_aked wizard near Greens Supermarket. The man told us that he was from Binga, adding that he fell on top of the house while on a witchcraft mission. He said he was travelling with friends.”

The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe last year upheld the ruling given by the High Court in the AFM church leadership crisis case.

Squabbles in AFM in Zimbabwe started after an attempt by the Aspher Madziyire group (now led by Madawo) to amend the church constitution. The other side led by Chiangwa resisted resulting in a leadership crisis which was eventually settled in the courts.

Despite the loss in court and declaration that they were now AFM of Zimbabwe, some of Chiangwa’s pastors clung to AFM in Zimbabwe’s properties resulting in chaos at some assemblies.-HMetro

PYCD Press Statement On The Commemoration of Africa Day 2022

Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust (PYCD) joins the African Continent to celebrate the birth and essence of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) now identified as African Union (AU). The day is celebrated annually since 1963 with the objective of completing the unfinished business of Independence at the socio-political and economic level. The day remains a symbol of Africa’s resilience and victory from decades of pillage and plunder driven by a cruel system of miseducation and misinformation sponsored by colonialism.

The commemorations in 2022 are being held under the theme: Strengthening resilience in nutrition and food security on the African continent, which is befitting for Agenda 2063: The Africa we want. The theme of this year allows the continent to reflect on the efforts being made by many African states to support the Agro-food systems, health and social protection systems for acceleration of human, social and economic capital development. African Union is hinged on the principles of African renaissance, Pan Africanism, Cultural identity and shared values. In line with this, the theme is therefore a confirmation that agriculture remains the back bone of most African economies, who must now invest in technology and the creativity of the young men and young women in order to be self-sufficient.

Platform for Youth and Community Development has always honoured Africa Day because it helps to highlight the important role being done by the institution to defend the rich heritage of the African people that is found in culture and language.PYCD is defined by the philosophy of Ubuntu which defends the role of culture in the promotion of peace, unity and good governance. As an organisation PYCD acknowledges the historical value of African icons like Kwame Nkurumah,Julius Mwalimu Nyerere,Nelson Rorihlahla Mandela and Robert Gabriel Mugabe just to mention a few. These men and women have helped to shape

the consciousness of what has defined the identity of Africa. These heroes and heroines have given the continent strength for resistance and resilience against colonialism.PYCD will use the day to advocate for peace and unity. It is no longer time to celebrate the use of brute force , armoury and nuclear  but the power of diplomacy and engagement, Africa must rise up and refuse to be abused in supporting wars that are selfish and promoted by greed and pride. Instead, Africa should take this opportunity to show leadership that puts order in the world. As part of the commemorations, PYCD will showcase the resilience of farmers and in particular women in Agriculture, who are toiling every day to feed their families and the nation. Through the grassroots presence of the organisation, PYCD will prove that Africa is rich and will be richer if there is a deliberate effort to repeal colonial laws that govern the use and ownership of land by natives.PYCD is concerned that in most of the African countries, communal land is not ring fenced therefore under the control of  foreign investors who are serving the interests of the former colonial masters. Without control of the land, food security will remain a pie in the air.

In our commemoration of the day, PYCD will be working closely with the recently licenced community radio initiative, Vemuganga FM to host a discussion in the morning at the PYCD Centre before getting into the communities to record voices of the villagers about the day. There are activities lined up in 25 wards of Chipinge district, where young women and young men are celebrating the values of African culture (Ndau) that exudes love, kindness, empathy and spirituality.PYCD is implementing a number of projects in Manicaland Province that promotes progressive African culture grounded on community-consciousness as defended by African philosophers like Abraham Mbiti. Through his famous statement

I am, because we are, Abraham Mbiti believes that the African identity should be protected within the framework of modernism and the changing world

Another Auxillia Horror Accident

By – A Mapanzure High School Bus carrying 65 Zanu PF women from Masvingo to a cooking competition organized by the First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa in Vic Falls has been involved in an accident.

The accident happened last night, leaving the bus valued at US$150 000 write-offs.

One woman was seriously injured in the accident, while two others escaped with minor injuries. The rest are injury free, said Zanu PF Masvingo Women’s League provincial chairperson Alginia Samson who confirmed the accident to The Mirror. Efforts to get a comment from the school head were futile as his mobile was not reachable.
The accident happened at the 35km peg along Masvingo – Mashava Road and the women were later booked at Maponga Lodge, a few hundred metres from where the accident happened.
The cooking competition is one of the many projects that the First Lady has been carrying out in her outreach into disadvantaged communities.

There is a landmark ruling made by Justice Joseph Mafusire at the High Court in Masvingo barring political parties from using school buses or taking school children to rallies. The ruling also barred parties from using school premises and furniture.

Parents buy school buses through the School Development Committees at great cost, and headmasters or school authorities with political interests seek favours from Zanu PF by hiring out busses to the party for free.
“Yes, I received news this evening. I am told one woman was seriously injured and the other three had minor injuries. The rest of the passengers are fine.
“The women were going to attend Amai Mnangagwa’s national cooking competition in Victoria Falls in solidarity with their competitors from Masvingo who are already in Victoria Falls,” said Samson.
Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson Kudakwashe Dewa could not be reached for comment as his mobile was not reachable.

Zanu PF “Weans” Self Out Of Obert Mpofu Offices

Zanu PF offices

By A Correspondent- ZANU PF Umguza district has moved out of the offices (pictured) that are owned by the party’s Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu located along Canaught Avenue in Bulawayo.

A visit to the offices by this publication revealed that the party banner that was erected at the offices had been removed.

A ZANU PF source who spoke to this reporter revealed that the party decided to moved out of the offices after feeling a need to grow itself and move out of the offices which Mpofu had donated to them to use for many years without paying rent.

The source also highlighted that Mpofu used his personal resources to build the party offices in Lupane. Matabeleland North.

However, reports coming from Lupane indicate that a certain section of ZANU PF members are in frantic efforts to create a wedge between the Provincial Mnister of State Richard Moyo and Mpofu in a bid to influence the province to withdraw iots support for Mpofu as the party moves towards the elective conference.

Tik Tok User Fined For Posting Cop’s Video

By A Correspondent- A user of Tik Tok, a popular short video sharing platform, has been ordered to pay ZW$3 000 after posting a clip in which a uniformed Chinhoyi police officer on duty, is jeered while hoisted in the air.

David Kanduna (23), who starred in the ZBC TV drama series Kuchina The Genesis and other local productions, was fined following his conviction on cyberbullying charges.

He becomes the first to be convicted under the newly-promulgated Data Protection Act.

A local publication reports that the actor will serve 20 days in prison if he fails to deposit the fine with the clerk of court.

There were quarrels on the pitchside, which led to Taimu being mocked and jeered before one of the marauders lifted him and ran while hoisting him in the air.

Ultimatum For Gvt Over Salaries Grievances

By A Correspondent- Teachers have given the government a one-week ultimatum to address their salary grievances or face a crippling strike action beginning June 1.

This comes as Civil servants under the Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU) are this Friday set to march against the government’s continued reluctance to pay them in United States dollars.

NewsDay reports that a letter which was handed to the government on Tuesday by the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) says the educators were tired of unfulfilled promises.

RTUZ which is led by Obert Masararure said failure to comply with their demand for United States dollar salaries and improved working conditions would force them to embark on a collective job action as provided for under section 65(3) of the Constitution.

Masaraure told NewsDay in an interview on Wednesday:

We are determined for an industrial action, unless our grievances are addressed, and we officially handed our letter to government on Tuesday.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Takavafira Zhou pledged unity with Artuz. He said:

Our belief is that we need to be united as teachers and approach the government as a united front. If nothing happens, we are also going on industrial action as we are not happy with the deductions on teachers’ payslips. We are under-paid.

PTUZ secretary-general Raymond Majongwe echoed Zhou’s sentiments adding that they will embark on industrial action this June if their grievances are not met.

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube last week told Parliament that a salary demand of US$540 by teachers was misleading, saying the educators used to earn half of the amount in 2018.

Trial postponed for AMH journalists

The trial of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) journalists Blessed Mhlanga and Chengeto Chidi did not kick off as initially scheduled on 24 May 2022 when they appeared in court because the trial magistrate is being transferred.

According to their lawyer, Jeremiah Bamu, the previously assigned trial magistrate is being transferred and a new magistrate has been assigned to deal with the case.

Mhlanga and Chidi’s trial is now set for 13 June 2022.

The two journalists are being charged with allegedly contravening Section 25 (a) as read with Section 30 of Statutory Instrument 21/2005 which prohibits taking of photographs within a polling station.

The alternative charge is that of disorderly conduct in a polling station as defined in Section 89 of the Electoral Act.

Both journalists are out of custody after they were granted bail on the 9 May 2022 and have pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Zanu PF Caught In Shocking Pre-2023 Elections Rigging Storm

By- Zanu PF in Masvingo is bussing people and getting them IDs at midnight.

Headmaster Ordered To Compensate Expelled Pupil

By A Correspondent| High Court Judge Justice Catherine Bachi Mzawazi has ordered the Headmistress at Rugare Government Primary School to compensate a 13 year-old minor for the learning time which she lost for eight days when she was summarily expelled from school.

The Headmistress only identified as Matsitsiro suspended the 13 year-old Grade 6 pupil on 11 May 2022 on the basis that she resides in Warren Park suburb, which is an adjacent residential suburb to Rugare suburb.

Matsitsiro told the minor that she was ineligible to be enrolled at Rugare Primary School because she stays in Warren Park, which is outside the zone for the school and that there are enough schools in Warren Park, where she could be accommodated. The expulsion took place despite the fact that the minor had been a student Rugare Government Primary School since she enrolled for Grade 1 and that it is already mid- term after lessons commenced on 3 May 2022.

The minor’s guardian represented by Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights on Wednesday 18 May 2022 filed an application at the High Court challenging her expulsion as unlawful, arbitrary and grossly unreasonable as it had been done without observing the audi alteram partem rule, which is a fundamental legal principle in which each party is entitled to a fair hearing and given the opportunity to respond to evidence against them and hence in breach of the principles of natural justice.

Chinopfukutwa argued that the expulsion of the minor was a breach of her right to administrative justice guaranteed in Section 68 of the Constitution and also constitutes a breach of her right to education as provided for in terms of Section 75 of the Constitution.

On Friday 20 May 2022, Justice Bachi-Mzawazi ordered Matsitsiro to reinstate the minor and allow her back to attend lessons at Rugare Government Primary School and to make arrangements to compensate learning time lost by the 13 year-old pupil during the duration of her expulsion from 11 May 2022 to 20 May 2022.

Naked Witch Brings City To A Standstill

A naked wizard reportedly fell onto a Magwegwe rooftop on Monday, prompting a stampede in a bid to witness the bizarre spectacle in Bulawayo.

Magwegwe High School

Residents told Southern Eye that they woke up on Monday morning to perform their daily routines, only to see a naked man in the suburb who claimed to have fallen from a winnowing basket during a witchcraft mission.

Witnesses posted on social media pictures and videos of the man who said he was from Binga, but failed to explain how he found himself in Magwegwe.

“He was naked and his body was painted all over with a substance which looked like ashes,” a Magwegwe resident who identified herself as NakaBhowasi said.

“We were shocked to find the naked wizard near Greens Supermarket. The man told us that he was from Binga, adding that he fell on top of the house while on a witchcraft mission. He said he was travelling with friends.”

Another resident added: “The man told us that his friends left him, and he did not know how he got to Magwegwe.”

In February, a similar incident reportedly happened in Filabusi, after a suspected witch fell from a winnowing basket after she fought with her colleagues over the legs of a child they were preparing to eat during a witchcraft mission.

Despite numerous cases of witchcraft surfacing now and then, it has been difficult to report and prove them at the courts of law. –Newsday

Madzibaba Prophesies: Mnangagwa Winning 2023 Elections

Barely 9 months after uttering a false prediction of an Edgar Lungu Presidency,  Masowe WeChishanu of Africa church leader Andby Makururu has claimed that he dreamt of President Emmerson Mnangagwa resoundingly winning next year’s presidential elections.

Last year August 2021, the preacher’s announced that the former Zambian President Edgar Lungu would win that nation’s 2021 elections.

Back home this time, Madzibaba Adby has announced saying Mnangagwa is winning the 2023 polls. He said: “The vision has told me that Mnangagwa will win next year’s elections. We are now praying that he wins the elections peacefully.”

Makururu was speaking during an event to mark the church’s annual international day of prayer themed Peaceful 2023 elections.

Also speaking at the function, Zanu PF political commissar Mike Bimha, said: “Churches have a big role to play in the elections. The problem is we have people who always bring in chaos going into the elections.”

As the congregants chanted Zanu PF slogans Bimha added: “We don’t want violence; we want churches to pray for peace during the elections. As Zanu PF we want to win the elections peacefully, and we want churches to pray for our youths so that they stop drug abuse.”

Jacob the Supplanter

Sabbath School Summary

By Elder Dr Masimba Mavaza

Lesson 9
Memory Text: “And Esau said, ‘Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!’ And he said, ‘Have you not reserved a blessing for me?’ ” (Genesis 27:36, NKJV).

INTRODUCTION
We now pick up on the continued family history of Isaac, the miracle child and early ancestor of the promised Seed. The story doesn’t start out particularly well, however. The flawed character of his son Jacob will be manifested in the rivalry between the two brothers over the birthright (Gen. 25:27-34) and consequently over the right to obtain the blessing of Isaac (Genesis 27). Because Jacob deceives his father and steals the blessing from his older brother, he will have to flee for his life. In exile, God confronts him at Bethel (Gen. 28:10-22). From then on Jacob, the deceiver, will experience some deception himself. Instead of Rachel, whom Jacob loves (Genesis 29), Leah, the older daughter, will be given to Jacob, and he will have to work 14 years to earn his wives.
Yet, Jacob also will experience God’s blessing, for in exile he will have 11 of his sons, and God will increase his wealth

SABBATH: There was everything about Jacob that might have made God hate Jacob, but God’s mercy followed him throughout his. He was a deceiver. God allowed him to go on in his sins, reap its results, & show Him He’s all that he need. His flaws brought rivalry between him & Esau. He was exiled; had to spend 14 years to earn his wives. Amid Jacob’s sins, God fulfilled His promises (Gen. 27, 28:10-22, 29).

SUNDAY: Jacob & Esau, the twins of the miracle child, Isaac, present a sharp contrast in character & life. It was foretold that they’d struggle with each other. Esau was a tough hunter & Jacob was “mild”; “tam” in Hebrew, is used to depict Job as blameless & Noah as perfect (Gen. 25:21-34; 27:1-28:5, 6:9; Job 1:8). Esau sold his birthright for food & Jacob became herald of God’s promise to Abraham (PP, p. 177).

MONDAY: Jacob’s deception that won him Isaac’s blessings brought him pain. Exiled after Esau’s threat to slay him, Jacob in a dream met God at a place he named Bethel, “the house of God” (Gen. 27:36, 27:42, 43, 45, 28:5, 10-22, 11:1-9). He saw a ladder linked with God. Like the Tower of Babel, the ladder is to reach the “door of heaven.” It depicts access to God. Jacob gave tithe after receiving God’s gift.

TUESDAY: At Bethel, Jacob had a stone for a pillow. At his final stop, the first thing he sees is a stone—a symbol of God’s presence. It is this stone that will afford him the chance to talk with Rachel. At first sight, Jacob loved Rachel so much that his 7-year work to earn her was like a few days (Gen. 29:1-30). But he was deceived as he did to his father & brother (Exod. 21:24; Gen. 9:6, 27:35, 12, 29:25).

WEDNESDAY: The last 7 years of exile, which was a burden to Jacob were also the most fruitful years. He will father 11 of the 12 children who’ll become ancestors of God’s people (Gen. 25:19-35:26). God opened the wombs of his wives (Gen. 29:31, 30:22). For not being loved, God gifted Leah Reuben & Simeon. Rachel had to wait for a while before giving birth to Joseph (Gen. 29:18, 27, 30:23, 24, 25).

THURSDAY: Years passed on, and Jacob became milder. He knew his father-in-law cheated him but he let it go. At the end of his 14th-year service to Laban, the birth Joseph, he planned to return to the Promised Land. His concern was to provide for his own house (Gen. 30:26, 30). Jacob was kept away for long due to unplanned events. He waited for God’s signal to go home (Gen. 30:25-32, PP, p. 193).

FRIDAY: Grace alone made Jacob the beloved of God. Yet, Jacob worked hard to try to deserve the grace which is contrary to the gospel. Later, Jacob grew in the faith & realized that human works can’t earn salvation or blessings. His act to acquire the birthright by deception left him disappointed. He became a fugitive. But what did God do? He visited him in his state of helplessness. God is Love!

PP- Patriarchs and Prophets

Bethel- It means “the house of God.”

Esau- As a grew, he loved self-gratification and centered all his interest on the present. He despised his birthright. He surmised that he could do what he liked without the duties that come with being the firstborn.

Jacob- Having learnt of the covenant promises, he was ever thinking of the future more than the present. He subtly gained his brother’s birthright & blessings. As a deceiver, he was also deceived. He later grew in faith.

Isaac & Rebekah- The parents of Jacob & Esau. They taught their sons the covenant promises given to Abraham. Isaac loved Esau the most, and Rebekah loved Jacob the most.

Jacob’s Ladder- It is actually God’s Ladder. The Ladder is God Himself (i.e., Jesus Christ). He spoke of this Ladder in John 1:51. The ladder emphasized that access to God can be achieved only through God’s coming to us, and not through human effort.

Jacob’s Pillow- The stone became a symbol of Bethel; the temple, the sanctuary, the center of God’s saving activity for humanity.

Reuben- His name contains the verb “ra’ah”, which means to “see.” Because God “saw” that Leah was unloved, He gifted her Reuben.

Simeon- Leah’s second son. The name contains the verb “shama (means “heard”). Thus, God heard the cries of Leah. The name resonates with that of Ishmael (means “God will hear”).

Tower of Babel- It stood for human efforts to go up and reach God.

Discussion Questions

? Look at the characters of these people (Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, Esau, Laban, Rachel, Leah) in some of these accounts of sacred history. Look at all the lies and deception involved. What does this teach us about human nature in general and God’s grace?

? As you read the story of Jacob, what evidence can you find that over time his character was maturing and growing? [email protected]

Davos Is The Chance For Zimbabwe To Grow Economically

By Dr Masimba Mavaza| Zimbabwe has taken the World Economic as a bridge to the international market. This a forum where the world is divide by the war in Ukraine. Africa countries should proactive and stop getting involved in the wars being fought but benefit from those wars.
Zimbabwe is to use this Forum to take its position in the global economy and rise with those rising.

Zimbabwe will tap in its diaspora to grow its economy. During this Forum the President will address Zimbabweans in diaspora and will encourage them to set up a team of Experts and investors who wants to venture into massive farming drive, engineering business and several fields. Zimbabwe should take a lead exporting food to countries fighting wars.

Currently Europe is already plunging in Economic depression and food prices are going mad and Africa should step in and make money.

Now that Europe is experiencing war in its front gate Africa must increase food production. We must change our priorities and encourage people to venture into farming and mining to meet the demand.
We must establish an African platform to assist and encourage African products.

Zimbabwe must grab this opportunity to become a giant. The country has a capacity to become a world giant in food production and mineral products market.
Zimbabwe must influence Africa to create the single African Union currency backed by gold and diamonds to trade with those fighting.

Zimbabwe must encourage its diaspora to study, the economies of the countries in Europe and see where we can make a reasonable trade pact.

This forum has given Zimbabwe a chance especially with it’s good climate and environment to become a great economy and the largest supplier of several products.
The president will encourage diaspora to engage in engineering and revamp our dams our rivers and our roads.

Zimbabwe stands to benefit more in this Forum. The World Bank estimates that by 2035, real income gains from full implementation of the agreement could be 7%, or nearly $450bn. By 2035, the volume of total exports would increase by almost 29% relative to business as usual. Intra-continental exports would increase by more than 81%, while exports to non-African countries would rise by 19%.The Bank predicts that the agreement could contribute to lifting an additional 30m people from extreme poverty and 68m people from moderate poverty.Yet the impact across countries will not be uniform. The World Bank says that at the very high end, countries like Côte d’Ivoire and Zimbabwe could see income gains of 14% each. At the low end, some – such as Madagascar, Malawi, and Mozambique – would see real income gains of only around 2%.

Zimbabwe need the AfCFTA for Trade integration across the African continent and escape the outdated border and transport infrastructure and a patchwork of differing regulations across dozens of markets.
Nations have often erected trade barriers to defend their markets from regional competition, making it more expensive for countries to trade with near neighbours than countries much further afield. The world being a global village no country can survive on its own. To this end Zimbabwe has taken the drive to be first in the global lines.

Negativism’s fuelled by the opposition will not stop Zimbabwean success in all this. Together with the AfCFTA Zimbabwe will succeed.

We must know that AfCFTA gives Africa a chance to speak with one voice in trade negotiations.

Europe has 13 types of trade arrangements with Africa, each of which it defends firmly, but some of our people lack the simple understanding that the country needs support of others.
“Europe needs to understand the direction Africa is going in with the setting up of the AfCFTA… We Africans must be more united to defend our own interests, and Zimbabwe must not be left out.

AfCFTA is an African project that will require African commitment to succeed. It must proceed regardless of what happens elsewhere. We can expect external actors to continue to pursue policies that run counter to Africa’s objectives as long as such policies benefit them. Even as we have made clear our intent to move trade along a multilateral track, Africa’s largest partners may seek to pursue a bilateral one.

As for the opposition spinning of the true benefit of this Forum and Zimbabwe’s involvement in Davos and Despite the rhetoric of Africa’s external partners, the continent’s prosperity has never been the true objective of their policies and we cannot expect that to change now.”
Zimbabwe is open for business.

Munetsi Right Man For Warriors Captaincy

Former Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa believes Marshall Munetsi is the best candidate to takeover the national team’s captaincy following the retirement of Knowledge Musona from international football.

Musona, who captained Zimbabwe at three consecutive African Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals, announced his retirement from international football last week.

Speaking to NewsDay, Chidzambwa thinks Munetsi can perfectly fit in Musona’s big shoes.

“He (Musona) was a very good leader. It is sad he is no longer there, but there are others coming up. We have Marshall Munetsi, he is capable. He has played in the foreign league in France and South Africa,” Chidzambga said.

“He has matured into a better player and I think he can take over from Musona. What is important is to have someone who can handle the pressure and having played abroad, he possesses those qualities.”

Former Warriors midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha once expressed the same sentiments.

Nengomasha described the France-based midfielder as “composed and authoritative”.

He said: “Marshall Munetsi stands out among those players, I can see the future captain of the Warriors in that boy.

“He is composed and authoritative, he can play in many positions in the defence, central defence, the holding midfield role, among three defenders, he is a joy to watch.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

President Chamisa Hails Legends Of Liberation Struggle

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens Coalition For Change leader President Nelson Chamisa has paid tribute to veterans of the liberation struggle in Africa.

President Chamisa challenged Africans to maintain the legacy of departed nationalists.

“The legacy of Our founding fathers and the liberation generation in Africa is at risk without the effort of Africa’s young and new generation of leaders.

Africa will be saved by two things; leadership and entrepreneurship.

Happy Africa day great continent! Mayibuye iAfrica,” President Chamisa said in a statement.

On the crisis in the country, President Chamisa said:

“Missed opportunities and neglected advantages is the cost of bad leadership. We must fix it! A New Great Zimbabwe is loading.”

CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba also said:

“Blessed Tuesday!!
Our task is to build a modern political party whose objective is to attain political power, govern differently and transform the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans. Together.”

The Status of the Ndebele Genocide/Crimes Against Humanity In The Republic Of Zimbabwe

Between the period 1983 to 1987, the Zanu PF government of The Republic of Zimbabwe unleashed the 5th Brigade Regiment upon the Ndebele Nation of central and Southern Zimbabwe.

These events set into motion a chain of events ;–

• 40,000 Unarmed Ndebele people killed, men, women, children, the unborn.

• 100,000 Ndebele Women and girls raped • 330 000 Ndebele people injured and maimed

• 1,000,000 Ndebele people displaced A Nation visited by the most heinous of all crimes known unto mankind.

All Nations on earth have identified, that such crimes are the worst crimes known to mankind. And for that reason, there are ways of handling and addressing such crimes.

The international arena has already classified this as a Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

The Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “ moment of madness “.

On other occasions the Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “ disturbances “ On other occasions the Zanu PF government has chosen to class this as “An issue “.

Indeed the Zanu PF government finds itself in difficulty over the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. That is why it has failed to properly address the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

It has been preoccupied at very, very great length and cost, in trying to go around the crime and circumvent the actual crime itself.

It has been looking for a way of how to legalise murder. It has been looking for a way of how to, legalise a genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. A futile and impossible endeavour, if there ever was one.

In 1987 it was the “ Unity Accord “, that silenced the guns of genocide and Crimes Against Humanity.

Just one piece of A4 paper , with the signatures of R G Mugabe and J. Nkomo supporting this one page. This one page signified that Zanu and ZAPU, would become one political party under the name Zanu Patriotic Front. ZAPU was assured positions always in the government.

The “ Unity Accord “ was broken by Zanu. Zanu kept the name Zanu PF and removed ZAPU from positions within the government of the day.

The current President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has refused to give ZAPU the Vic President position. An act that speaks volumes, that indeed “ The Unity Accord “ is dead.

That being the case, it therefore means that the Zanu PF government , does not recognise the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

This means that all that is said , by the Zanu PF government of 2022, with respect to the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, is just “ a smoke Screen “. The Zanu PF government, is not serious about the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

What gives this analysis even more credibility, is the fact that the Zanu PF government is the perpetrator of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

How then does one expect a perpetrator, to arrest one’s self , detain one’s self , trial one’s self, convict one’s self and ultimately imprison one’s self. That is not possible.

The way to deal with the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity is fairly straight forward, since genocides and Crimes Against Humanity, from across the world have been , dully prosecuted and resolved many times ;-

1. Investigate and gather the evidence. Zanu PF government has not done this in 40 years. However what the Zanu PF government is now seeking to do is to “ destroy “ evidence by allowing and indeed forcing, the exhumations of victims of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. These grave sites are “ Crime Scenes “.

They require pathologists and teams of qualified investigators, to carefully record everything that is found at that locality, so that ultimately a proper cause and time of death can be scientifically established. People should record anyone seen engaging, in this reckless destruction of evidence.

For a crime is being committed right there. Tampering and destroying evidence, in a crime scene is a crime. Prosecutions will follow in due course, for all who may be involved in these exhumations. Be it a herd boy in the bush or a government Minister. Prosecutions will follow.

2. Having obtained the evidence and facts, individuals are arrested / charged

3. The individuals are then prosecuted in court

4. If the individuals are found guilty they are sentenced and imprisoned.

5. AFTER this judicial process THEN we have the PEACE building and RECONCILIATION. For the courts have established the individuals that were guilty of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

6. Restitution then also follows as part of this process All the efforts of the government seek to leave out the whole “ Judicial process “. Which means that all of their efforts are null and void in this regard.

WITHOUT THE JUDICIAL PROCESS, THE CRIMINAL GETS AWAY WITH COMMITTING THE CRIME Of course the government might continue with its exhumations. It may give a number of individuals USD 5,000 here and there. Then it may proclaim that the Ndebele Genocide matter has been resolved.

That could not be further from the truth. The government would really not have started on this matter. Not one bit.

For the very first proper government that comes into office, will prosecute the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity. People will be arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated. Proper Peace building will occur.

Proper reconciliation would occur . Proper restitution will occur. With respect to the recent comments made by The Speaker of The House , Mudenda .

This statement is a very profound statement to have been made at this juncture and in the manner that it was made. It is The Zanu PF Government for the first time, publicly, admitting that they will lose the elections in 2023.

For the Zanu PF government to combine the 2023 elections and the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, means that Zanu PF knows that this time around they are out of power.

Hence the need to prepare an exit road, that does not have thorns on it. The Ndebele Genocide is a very big thorn, that will stop many prominent individuals in Zanu PF.

Leading to their arrest, trial and incarceration for their natural lives. It is therefore logical for them to prepare a suitable exit route, without the issue of the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity hanging over their heads.

Hence The Speakers words of haste, trying to hurry the process on wards. Whilst the threat of imprisonment is very serious on its own.

There is is an even more serious matter hidden by The Speakers words. Words that touch Zanu PF itself as a political organisation.

Once the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity Judicial process begins and guilty verdicts given for the Crimes of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, Zanu PF as a political party will become a Banned Organisation.

For Zanu PF as a political Organisation, would have been implicated throughout all of the proceedings of the trials. For this Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity did not spontaneously occur.

There were no sightings of civilians chasing each other on the streets of the country. Neighbour against neighbour . This was organised and structured.

Evidence is there that Zanu PF effected this Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity on its own, using “ the instruments, ways and means “ of the government to effect these crimes.

Thus incriminating itself with the responsibility of this crime . To make matters worse for Zanu PF, the events after the Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, further incriminate Zanu PF to these crimes.

For 40 years Zanu PF has frustrated the judicial process, of dealing with this Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

We have now arrived at the juncture, that Zanu PF is now advocating for the destruction of evidence of the crime of Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, by the illegal exhumation of bodies.

As a result of the Judicial Process of addressing the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity, it is certain that Zanu PF, as a political organisation, or any other formation it may become, will be banned in The Republic of Zimbabwe.

Hence the importance of the 2023 Zimbabwe Elections and why they have been linked to the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

We are most concerned that members of the governmemnt from these affected provinces, are still “ willing “ to be used on a tribal basis, to speak terrible things about this open wound, that is the Ndebele Genocide / Crimes Against Humanity.

Why did the Minister with portfolio responsibility enounciate this matter.

Why the deliberate selection of a Ndebele member of parliament to speak and deliver this message to the Ndebele Nation.

Never before in the history of this country has so much hung upon an election. The need to REGISTER and VOTE has never been greater.

High Court Shames Police Over Covid-19 Vaccination Ban

By A Correspondent- The Bulawayo High Court has ruled that it is illegal for the police to stop COVID-19 unvaccinated people from accessing services at public building.

Bulawayo lawyer Job Sibanda had challenged police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga’s directive barring COVID-19 unvaccinated citizens from accessing police facilities.

Sibanda had taken Matanga and Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe to court after police officers blocked him from entering CID headquarters in Harare because he had no COVID-19 vaccination card.

“The commissioner of police consented to the order I was seeking. This means the barring of people from accessing CID offices was and continues to be illegal,” Sibanda told NewsDay yesterday.

Sibanda filed his application at the Bulawayo High Court in February citing Matanga and Kazembe as first and second respondents, respectively.

In his founding affidavit, Sibanda said the court should declare null and void the directive against unvaccinated citizens.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no law in Zimbabwe that permits a government official to bar members of the public from gaining access to any building in order to get services…” Sibanda submitted.

“Vaccination is voluntary and I am entitled to refuse to be vaccinated, an option I have freely chosen for better or worse.  It is unlawful to discriminate against me and bar me from entering a public building on the basis that I am not vaccinated against COVID-19.”

Zanu PF Eyes Byo Seats Comeback

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF’s Bulawayo Greens district political commissar Elias Mweneziko said the party was set to regain all the seats it lost to the opposition in 2018.

Bulawayo has been an opposition stronghold since the turn of the century in 2000 and during the 2018 general elections, the ruling party only managed to win one ward (ward 28) after the opposition blundered by fielding double candidates.

Raji Modi is the only ruling party Member of Parliament (Bulawayo South), while Kidwell Mujuru is the only Zanu-PF councillor for ward 28.

Mweneziko told Southern Eye that as the country prepares for the 2023 plebiscite, the ruling party had set up strong structures and hoped to ride on the possibility of the revival of Bulawayo’s defunct companies that would create more than 1 500 jobs.

‘’Bulawayo has never been a stronghold for Zanu-PF, and we know that it is dominated by the opposition. However, this will change in next year’s elections as we aim to garner five million votes. We will be putting in place structures and projects that are going to help to turn things upside down,” Mweneziko said.

He said the ruling party was targeting to resuscitate the National Railways of Zimbabwe, Cold Storage Company and others to create 1 500 jobs for Bulawayo residents.

“We are also incentivising small businesses by delivering chickens, and are mobilising voters through door-to-door campaigns,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Zanu-PF-aligned Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) is preparing for a congress amid reports that members are already jostling for positions.

This follows the vetting of 160 000 non-combatant war veterans.

A US$344 million waste-to-energy contract awarded to a company linked to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s family was “shamefully imposed” on Harare, the Harare Residents Association and Transparency International Zimbabwe said on Tuesday.

The contract, rushed through after Harare mayor Jacob Mafume was suspended by local government minister July Moyo and several opposition councillors recalled, has been challenged in court. The 30-year contract for the Pomona waste dumpsite was awarded to Geogenix BV, a company registered in the Netherlands, without public consultations or public tendering.

The High Court has been told that “the contract was designed to fail” as it imposes obligations on the City of Harare to deliver set quantities of waste, and if it fails the contract can be cancelled and the city forced to pay US$3.5 million for breach.

Under the banner of the Harare Metropolitan Residents Forum, the Harare Residents Association and TIZ argued that the memorandum of agreement between City of Harare and Geogenix BV reeked of bad faith and was intended to benefit politically-connected elites.

Geogenix BV is fronted by Delish Nguwaya, a business partner of President Mnangagwa’s twin sons Collins and Sean. Reports say Sean and Nguwaya travelled to Albania to negotiate the contract with Geogenix BV’s beneficial owner, Mirel Mërtiri, who faces corruption allegations in his own country involving an incinerator contract.

The scandal has been dubbed “Wastegate” by the media.

“We, the representatives of the Residents Associations and Civil Society Organisations advocating for good local governance, transparency, accountability, climate and debt justice condemn and reject the imposed shameful Pomona waste to energy project on the residents and ratepayers of Harare, and the metropolitan at large,” the residents and TIZ said in a statement.

“In our view, the contents of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the City of Harare and Geogenix for the US$344 million Pomona Waste to Energy Project is a pure scandal, and a burden to the city meant to serve the best interests of the politically connected elites at the expense of the residents of Harare.

“We reiterate that this scandal is a well-crafted and cunning plan designed to siphon resources and strip assets from the already cash-strapped and financially distressed local authority.”

The forum’s spokesperson Marvelous Kumalo said “while we welcome innovation aimed at solving our waste management challenges, this must follow due processes and be premised on tenets of good governance which are citizen participation, transparency, and accountability.”

Harare, which previously dumped its waste for free, must now pay Geogenix BV to receive it after the city signed over its Pomona dumpsite to the company. The city will pay Geogenix BV US$40 per tonne delivered.

The stipulated daily delivery is at least 550 tonnes or a minimum 200,750 tonnes per year – translating to US$8.03 million for Geogenix BV in the first year.

The agreement says should Harare fail to meet the minimum quantities, the city will still be invoiced as though it made the deliveries to meet the minimum annual guaranteed waste quantity.

Harare North MP Allan Norman Markham is leading a legal effort to have the contract cancelled.

Chinotimba Having Sleepless Nights Over Ouster

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Buhera South, Joseph Chinotimba is having sleepless nights over a plot by the party’s youths to unseat him.

Chinotimba is not the only one being challenged.

Chinotimba’s neighbours, William Mutomba (Buhera North) and Saul Nzuma (Buhera West) will also face strong challenge in the Zanu-PF 2023 primary elections.

Buhera has seen the emergence of a young crop of politicians across all the three constituencies targeting parliamentary seats held by the party’s old guard.

“This has unsettled the old guard, hence the emotional attacks,” said a provincial member who refused to be named.

Chinotimba was the first to be hauled over the coals by the party’s youth following a video of him accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa of sponsoring a young candidate Ngonidzashe Mudekunye to take over his constituency.

On Monday, Chinotimba reportedly lost his temper at the ruling party’s Manicaland provincial co-ordination committee meeting in Mutare and took aim at some ruling party bigwigs, accusing them of plotting his ouster.

Chinotimba has been linked to the G40 cabal after former Information minister Jonathan Moyo took to Twitter, saying Mnangagwa wanted to impose Mudekunye in Buhera South.

In 2018, there was a push for Chinotimba’s removal by G40 members now in self-imposed exile.

“Chinotimba was fuming at the Manicaland PCC meeting in Mutare, saying he was aware of party bigwigs who were plotting against him,” one source claimed.

“He told the gathering that people should channel resources to Dangamvura/Chikanga constituency where Esau Mpufumi lost in the (March 26) by-elections and Makoni Central where Patrick Chinamasa lost in the 2018 elections,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Mutomba is reportedly facing a challenge from Phillip Guyo who transferred to Manicaland province from Harare.

Guyo lost to the opposition in Chitungwiza in the 2018 elections before transferring to Manicaland.

Mutomba, who is being accused of being an absentee MP, has been Buhera North legislator for more than a decade.

In Buhera West, incumbent legislator Nzuma is also having sleepless nights over Maxwell Chikwangwani who is eyeing the seat.

“This is where the confusion is coming from. The likes of Chinotimba never thought they would be challenged hence the panic. It is a pity that in his utterances, mentioning President Mnangagwa, he is doing nothing good, but fuelling factionalism,” another provincial member said.

In a letter dated May 16, addressed to the newly-appointed deputy secretary for youth affairs John Paradza, a Zanu-PF youth-affiliated group Zimbabwe Revolutionary and Patriotic Youth Network said Chinotimba should be summoned and clarify his rants.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa yesterday rubbished claims of factionalism, while defending Chinotimba saying he was a hard worker.

“Comrade Chinotimba is a hard worker and has a sound or solid relationship with the President. We are not worried about people who are against him,” he said.-newsday

Prioritize Children From Rural Areas, ARTUZ Africa Day Statement

The 25th of May across Africa is celebrated and commemorated for not only it’s historical significance through the decolonization of Africa but also for it’s present relevance to our contemporary world and also for the commendable visions that the African Continent holds for it’s future.

Fifty nine years ago, like-minded Africans with one vision, one goal and one purpose came together to organize the emancipation of Africa from colonial bondage and the sovereignty that Africa has today from foreign rule is a result of those sacrifices. The theme brought forward for this year is critical in the development of a child to a purely productive individual to society and that through strengthening resilience in nutrition and food security on the African continent, even with the current efforts of the AU as a bloc a lot of children remain malnourished. A number of factors keep on adding to malnourishment despite the verbal promises and half-hearted attempts to end malnutrition, factors such as unending conflict and natural disasters.

Furthermore, the Covid19 pandemic was also a major destabilizing factor in efforts done so far, by July 2020 almost one third of Africa was facing starvation and the major victims being children. In our Zimbabwean context it is going to be a herculean task to strengthen resilience owing to the prevailing environment that has been perpetuated by a soulless regime that is self-serving and not concerned by the welfare of its citizens. The environment in schools especially in rural and marginalized areas is extremely terrible, more than three quarters of learners in these communities come from poor families without the means to live in a healthy manner, these learners have it tough, they walk for long distances to school on an empty stomach, spend the whole day and go back home in their state. The government does not even bother to provide supplementary meals to these learners and when interested parties want to assist they are stopped on allegations of trying to effect regime change.

In the same vein food aid distribution in rural areas is heavily politicized with the ruling Zanu pf party refusing aid to the most vulnerable people accusing them of supporting the opposition, food meant for aid is also looted on a massive scale and later resold. This goes against the very revolutionary ethos that the African Union stands for and the concept of Ubuntu. ARTUZ also calls for the increase in salaries for workers as low salaries are also a major contributing factor of malnutrition in society as people are left desperate after being paid peanuts and are unable to maintain a healthy living.

ARTUZ calls for the immediate prioritization of children especially those in rural and marginalized areas to be assisted by the government in supplementing their diet and come up with policies that supports and aids the strengthening of resilience on nutrition and food security in the country and this is done by ceasing to politicize food aid and also improve the standards of living of the ordinary citizen through salary increments, as we celebrate this Africa Day it is fundamental to note that in our case only a few elites are free as they only have access to better standards and quality of living whilst the rest are suffering in silence, being African should be associated with Pride but there is no pride in hunger, starvation, poverty and avoidable death, FREE US NOW or WE WILL FREE OURSELVES FOR AFRICA.

Mwonzora Chickens Out Of Future By-elections

By A Correspondent- The opposition MDC Alliance, led by Douglas Mwonzora, has resolved not to contest any by-elections following humiliating defeats in recent by-elections, NewsDay has learnt.

The party said it would only contest the 2023 general elections and has not fielded a candidate for the Masvingo West ward 21 by-election set for June 25.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Zanu-PF councillor Tinago Mupinga on March 24.

MDC-A chairperson Morgan Komichi was yesterday evasive, and could not give the reason the party failed to field a candidate.

Komichi referred questions to the party’s secretary for elections Gandhi Mudzingwa whose number was not reachable.

During the March 26 and May 6 by-elections, Mwonzora’s party failed to get any council or parliamentary seat out of the contested 133. This was despite the MDC-A having caused the vacancies after it recalled more than 40 MPs and more than 80 councillors affiliated to Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.

The three candidates nominated for the June 25 by-elections are Zanu-PF’s Chenjerai Mumbire, CCC’s Onias Mawarire and Sister Nhando, an independent candidate.

In a statement yesterday Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana confirmed the by-election.

“It is hereby notified in terms of section 125(4) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13) that at the close of the sitting of the nomination court on Monday May 9, 2022, the candidates listed in the schedule were duly nominated for election as councillor in ward 21 of Masvingo RDC (rural district council). Accordingly, polling shall take place on Saturday June 25, 2022,” Silaigwana said.

Political analysts told NewsDay that Mwonzora’s party was avoiding further embarrassment.

Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said: “If they are going by empirical evidence of past performance, their instinct is that they are not fielding until they get their numbers correct. But that is the wrong strategy because if you don’t contest then you are exposing your weaknesses.”

Another political analyst Effie Ncube said: “They are obviously saving themselves from the obvious embarrassment that is going to come should they field a candidate. Their party is no match to the CCC, and people have moved to Chamisa. There is no question about that. The MDC Alliance has lost the show.”-newsday

Zanu PF MPs Share Growing Disdain

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF MPs have allegedly been sharing their growing disdain for the party with colleagues in opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), organising secretary Amos Chibaya has claimed.

Speaking at the CCC’s thank you rally in Gweru, following resounding by-election wins on March 26, Chibaya said ruling party legislators were part of the many who no longer wanted the ruling party to remain in power.

His claims follow a deteriorating economic climate that has not spared officials at the Zanu-PF headquarters.

“Zanu-PF MPs have been telling us that they are tired of their own party, they no longer want it. No one wants Zanu-PF anymore and this like I am telling you includes their own MPs, everyone is now fed up with Zanu-PF,” said Chibaya.

“Even members of the security sector are tired of Zanu-PF. They want the party out.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is under immense pressure to unite a party whose structures are questioning his capacity to contest against CCC leader Nelson Chamisa at the 2023 polls.

Such sentiments have been aired by members in rural areas, most of which have for long been Zanu-PF strongholds.

“Our biggest vote is going to come from the rural areas. Those people are tired of Zanu-PF,” declared Chibaya.

Mnangagwa’s situation has been worsened by a failure to deal with rampaging inflation, low wages, indecision on non-performing Cabinet ministers and what those at the party’s headquarters feel is a deliberate attempt to shut them out of governance.

Civil servants, who constitute a greater fraction of Zimbabwe’s employed population have been forced to make do with the local currency too despite their wages losing value on a daily basis.
