By Farai D Hove | Harare, Zimbabwe – After nearly nine years of inertia, the Gwanda solar power project is set to resume, sparked by a recent negotiation between the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) and Intratrek Zimbabwe Pvt Ltd. The development follows a Supreme Court ruling that upheld a contract signed back on October 23, 2015, between the parties, affirming Intratrek’s position led by the controversial businessman, Wicknell Chivayo.
In a surprising pivot from his past high-profile purchases of luxury shoes and sports cars, Chivayo has promised to breathe new life into the 100-megawatt solar facility. This announcement comes at a critical juncture when skepticism about his commitment to substantial ventures prevails, further fueled by a scathing portrayal in a recent Herald article and sharp critiques from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“The Supreme Court’s decision provides a legal pathway to finally move forward with the Gwanda project,” said Tungamirai Chinhengo, ZESA Holdings’ Legal Advisor. “We are now focused on renegotiating aspects of the contract concerning technology, price, and implementation timelines.”
Despite the judicial victory, the project’s resurrection is not without its challenges. Prolonged negotiations and financial uncertainties loom, with ZPC still finalizing financing details, critical for determining the project’s new timeline. “A concrete timeline is elusive at this stage,” Chinhengo admitted, reflecting on the complexities of securing project finance.
Acting ZPC Managing Director, Norbert Matarudza, shared a cautiously optimistic outlook, suggesting that negotiations might conclude within six months. Yet, this timeline contrasts with historical delays seen in similar projects and the intricate nature of financial negotiations.
“Past projects, even without legal hurdles like Hwange seven and eight, took years after the contract was awarded to reach financial closure,” Matarudza pointed out, indicating that the timeline for Gwanda might extend further.
Mhangwa, chairperson of the Energy Parliamentary Portfolio Committee, expressed concerns over the feasibility of Matarudza’s timeline, hinting that it could be overly ambitious. “Given the complex history of this project and ongoing financial negotiations, expecting a resolution in just six months might be unrealistic,” Mhangwa noted.
The negotiations are also set to address the evolution in solar technology and cost adjustments, necessary due to the long delay. “The contract will need to reflect current technological advancements and market conditions,” stated Engineer Forbes Chanakira, ZPC Acting Project Technical Director.
As talks proceed, Chivayo’s renewed commitment to the project and its potential impact on Zimbabwe’s energy sector remains under intense scrutiny. The outcome will not only shape the future of the Gwanda solar project but also define Chivayo’s legacy in Zimbabwe’s economic development landscape.

In a desperate move, the ruling Zanu PF regime has threatened to arrest commercial sex workers in Gweru for refusing to accept the new currency known as Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG).
This development underscores the growing tension and dissatisfaction surrounding the newly introduced currency.
On Thursday, Zanu PF’s online propagandists, known as Varakashi, made a stark declaration regarding the situation.
“Sei vakadzi vonomira pamadziro eMidlands Hotel vari kuramba kutora maZiG? Ngavasungwe,” they stated, which translates to, “Why are the women standing by the walls of Midlands Hotel refusing to take ZiG? They should be arrested.”
The introduction of Zimbabwe Gold was meant to stabilize the country’s economy, which has been plagued by hyperinflation and a lack of confidence in the local currency.
However, the new currency has faced significant resistance from various sectors of society, including commercial sex workers, who cite a lack of trust and practicality as key reasons for their refusal.
One sex worker, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed her concerns: “We can’t accept ZiG because it is not widely recognized or trusted.
Clients also don’t want to use it, so how can we? Arresting us for trying to survive in this economy is unjust.”
The Zanu PF government’s threat to arrest those rejecting the currency reveals the desperation and coercion tactics being employed to enforce its acceptance.
This move has sparked outrage and condemnation from human rights advocates and economic analysts alike.
Economic expert Tendai Moyo commented on the situation, stating, “Forcing acceptance of a currency through threats of arrest is not a sustainable economic policy.
The government needs to build trust and ensure that the currency is stable and usable. Coercion will only lead to further resistance and undermine confidence in the economy.”
The plight of commercial sex workers in Zimbabwe reflects broader societal challenges, including economic instability and governmental pressure.
The rejection of Zimbabwe Gold by this vulnerable group highlights the urgent need for a more inclusive and effective economic strategy that addresses the concerns of all citizens without resorting to threats and punitive measures.
By Dorrothy Moyo | Bulawayo Magistrate Challenge Mahembe convicted Sengezo-Tshabangu-Coalition member Soneni Moyo of sending offensive messages over WhatsApp, fining her US$100 or the equivalent in Zimbabwean dollars. The fine must be paid by June 28, 2024, failing which Moyo faces a two-month prison term.
Soneni Moyo, who had contested the Phelandaba-Tshabalala constituency in the 2023 harmonized elections, has reportedly been unable to raise the necessary funds to cover her fine, with sources close to her indicating that no one is willing to assist her financially. This development is particularly noteworthy as it suggests a lack of support within her own political circles, possibly due to the nature of her offense or current political dynamics.
Moyo was charged under Section 88(a) of the Postal and Telecommunications Act, Chapter 12:05, for sending a series of messages that were described as grossly offensive, indecent, obscene, or threatening. The offensive messages were directed at her rival, Raymond Gombedza, and included derogatory statements involving his mother.
The court’s decision to impose a fine rather than direct imprisonment came with a stern warning: a three-month sentence has been wholly suspended on the condition that Moyo does not commit a similar offense within the next four years.
This case highlights the significant impact of cyberbullying and the seriousness with which the judicial system in Zimbabwe is addressing offenses related to digital communication. As the deadline for the fine payment approaches, it remains to be seen how Moyo will navigate this financial and reputational hurdle.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the High Court of Zimbabwe was inundated with 55 divorce filings in a single day, marking a significant spike in marital dissolutions. This alarming trend has sparked widespread discussion and concern, prompting an examination of the potential underlying causes.
Economic Hardships Fueling Marital Strife
One of the primary factors attributed to the surge in divorces is the severe economic challenges gripping Zimbabwe.
The country has been facing prolonged economic instability, characterized by high inflation rates, unemployment, and a dwindling standard of living. These financial pressures strain marriages, often leading to conflicts over resources and financial management. Couples struggling to make ends meet may find their relationships unable to withstand the relentless economic strain, resulting in an increased number of separations.
Political Instability’s Impact on Family Dynamics
Political instability in Zimbabwe further exacerbates the situation. Frequent political upheavals and a lack of consistent governance have contributed to a climate of uncertainty and stress. This instability not only affects the nation’s economic prospects but also trickles down to individual households, disrupting family dynamics and increasing tensions. The stress from navigating a turbulent political environment can erode the foundation of marital relationships, leading to higher divorce rates.
Moral Disintegration and Changing Social Norms
Another factor that may be influencing the rising divorce rates is moral disintegration and the shifting social fabric of Zimbabwean society. Traditional values and norms surrounding marriage and family life are undergoing significant changes.
Increasingly, there is a movement towards individualism and personal fulfillment, which can sometimes conflict with the expectations of marriage.
As societal attitudes evolve, so too do the perceptions of marriage and divorce, with more couples opting to end unhappy unions rather than endure prolonged discord.
The surge in divorce cases in Zimbabwe on May 23, 2024, is a complex phenomenon with roots in economic hardship, political instability, and shifting moral landscapes.
Each of these factors contributes to a challenging environment for maintaining stable and enduring marriages.
Addressing this multifaceted issue will require a comprehensive approach, tackling the economic, political, and social challenges facing the nation.
Without such interventions, the trend of rising divorce rates may continue, reflecting deeper systemic issues within Zimbabwean society.
Grief and Injustice: Small-Time Money Changer Released from Jail Following Daughter’s Death Amidst Unresolved Questions of Legal Disparity
Micheal Zumba, a small-time money changer, was released from incarceration after his three-year-old daughter tragically passed away. Zumba, who was held for 30 days on suspicion of dealing in foreign currency, represents the stark inequalities within the justice system, especially when compared to high-profile figures like businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who remains untouched by the law despite significant allegations.
Zumba was arrested at Yeukai Business Center in Mucheke for allegedly selling airtime while conducting unauthorized currency exchanges. Upon his arrest, police found only minor amounts of currency on him — US$20 and ZAR20. Despite the small scale of his alleged offense, Zumba faced harsh pre-sentence detention, highlighting systemic issues in the enforcement and judicial processes concerning economic crimes.
The situation took a tragic turn when Zumba’s daughter fell ill and died suddenly while he was detained. The child’s mother discovered her deceased early Wednesday morning. This personal tragedy prompted Zumba’s lawyer, Knowledge Mabvure of Chihambakwe Law Chambers, to appeal for his immediate release to attend to his daughter’s funeral. Magistrate Nomagugu Sibanda granted Zumba’s release on free bail, citing the “changed circumstances.”
This case has thrown a spotlight on the discrepancies in how small-time offenders and high-profile businessmen are treated under Zimbabwean law. While individuals like Zumba face immediate and severe repercussions, influential figures such as Wicknell Chivayo, known for his involvement in questionable large-scale projects, continue to evade similar legal challenges.
The public and media scrutiny intensifies as several other suspected small-scale currency dealers, many of whom are mothers, remain in custody, raising concerns about the well-being of their children left unattended. This incident has sparked a broader debate on justice and equity, questioning the scales of justice in Zimbabwe.
As the community mourns the untimely death of a young child and debates the fairness of the legal system, calls for reform and a more balanced approach to justice are growing louder. The case of Micheal Zumba is not just a story of personal loss but a poignant example of the disparities that can exist within a legal framework that is supposed to protect and serve all citizens equally.

By Political Correspondent-The most popular opposition politician, Nelson Chamisa, has been spotted dancing at the Zion church service.
By Business Reporter-The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) says the government’s failure to pay reinsurance to Sinosure, an export credit agency of China Exim Bank that was to finance the 100-megawatt Gwanda solar power plant, impeded the project’s take-off.
ZPC signed a contract with Intratrek Zimbabwe Pvt Ltd on October 23, 2015, to supplement the country’s energy needs with solar renewable energy. However, almost nine years have passed with no movement on the Gwanda project.
ZPC also claims the tender awarded to Intratrek was above board because the company was advised by the then State Procurement Board that Intratrek was one of the cheapest bidders compliant to the specifications required by ZPC.
However, work on the solar project was delayed and compounded by a protracted legal struggle between ZPC and Intratrek, in which Intratrek accused ZPC of wrongfully terminating the contract, resulting in the Supreme Court ruling that ZPC’s contract was still valid and enforceable.
During a meeting with the Energy Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Wednesday at the solar plant site in Gwanda, ZPC management stated they could not afford to cancel the contract owing to the way it was packaged, and that finance shortages exacerbated the issues.
Tungamirai Chinhengo, ZESA Holdings’ Legal Advisor and Corporate Secretary, explained that ZPC and Intratrek signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract in which the contractor identifies a potential financier, who then submits a term sheet to ZPC, whose terms are evaluated.
“If acceptable, ZPC would, in terms of the Public Finance Management Act, seek a borrowing certificate from the Ministry of Finance. It’s only on that basis that ZPC can then borrow the funds in its name and capacity, which funds will be used to pay the EPC contractor,” Chinhengo said.
“In terms of any collateral security or performance bonds, the current EPC contract requires an advance payment guarantee, a performance guarantee and thirdly, retention in respect of the works that would have been done. So contractually the agreement is very sound to the extent of protecting the interests of ZPC as well as the government of Zimbabwe.”
The legal counsel said the nature of ZPC and Intratrek’s contract included suspensive terms in which payment of the deposit became a prerequisite for the agreement to become effective.
For work to begin on the site, certain requirements were required, which Chinhengo stated were perhaps six or eight or suspensive conditions that had to be met.
“Now the contract provides that these were supposed to be fulfilled within 24 months from the date of signature, which meant by 23 of April 2017 these conditions precedent should have been fulfilled,” he said.
“But the contract further allowed for an extension by six months of this period if the parties have failed to complete the conditions precedent so effectively, the contract gave 30 months within which the conditions precedent were to be satisfied now. “
Chinhengo said some of these conditions were fulfilled but the “biggest elephant in the room has always been the issue of funding.”
“During the period from 2015 when the contract was signed, there were several changes within the monetary policies and so forth,” he said, adding the Zimbabwean government was obliged to make certain payments to Sinosure, an export credit reinsurance firm of China Exim Bank.
“At the time the tender was awarded to Intratrek, the basis of funding was supposed to be from China Exim Bank. So the 24 months lapsed whilst the funding could not come through from China Exim Bank because there was a view that there were certain payments which were not made to Sinosure so basically that was the excuse by the contractor to then say, ‘As far as I’m concerned, I’ve given you a financier who is willing and ready to finance, but the financier is saying you have not yet paid my reinsurance to the Sinosure export credit agency,’” he explained.
“After the 30 months lapsed, that became the basis for ZPC to then terminate the contract because the argument was to say you are the EPC contractor who is bound in terms of the contract to secure funding. So that was the legal basis we considered to terminate.”
Chinhengo stated the nature of government-to-government funding, also known as cross-border financing instruments, is such that all government-developed projects are covered by a specific facility.
“The amount towards which the government should pay the export credit reinsurer simply considers all the projects that the government will be developing based on financing from China Exim Bank. So it was not directly related to this project but about other projects which the government was developing at the time,” he explained.
Chinhengo clarified that ZPC was not the first one to approach the High Court but it just cancelled the contract on 23 April 2018.
“It was Intratrek that approached the High Court in 2019, alleging that we had unlawfully terminated the contract. That is what then led to the onset of the protracted legal battle as we have come to know of it,” he said, noting that most of the nine years after the tender was awarded had been spent in court.
“The first time this matter was referred to the High Court was actually in January of 2018 yet the contract had been signed on 23 October 2015. So there were only three years of attempting to implement it, after which the ZPC terminated it on grounds that at the time it was considered that the contractor had failed to perform.”
“The greater portion, during which there was no activity at site, was really during the pendency of the litigation initially in the High Court then to the Supreme Court, then back to the High Court again and finally in the Supreme Court as at December last year.

Former President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, Denies House Arrest Allegations in BBC Interview
By Foreign Correspondent | In a revealing interview with BBC Newsday on May 24, 2024, former Zambian President Edgar Lungu reversed his claims that he is under house arrest, a statement contrary to his earlier posts on social media. Lungu discussed the strict public order and security conditions which impacts politicians globally, and in Zambia, obtaining police permission for political meetings is necessary and even more stringent for him as a former head of state.
During the interview, Lungu announced the reversal of his previous statement by describing his situation under the “virtual” term which implies an imaginary state.
He said, “Well, virtually, I’m under house arrest in the sense that I cannot move out of my house without being accosted and challenged by the police and driven back home. They took me out of a plane where I was supposed to have travelled for a conference recently. The other time, they refused to let me go for medication. The other time they refused me to go to church, and on several occasions, they have said, ‘police, you can’t go out.’ So this is a buildup, I guess, which way they want to culminate into my arrest. And I’m ready for that.”
Lungu was also informed he cannot engage in ‘political jogging’ without notifying the police for his protection, and his request for a police escort for a meeting in South Korea was denied due to it coinciding with another medical trip request to South Africa.
Amidst these discussions, a separate critique came from Edward Makayi, a popular political prisoner, who slammed a Human Rights Watch article by a faceless author claiming a deterioration of freedom of speech in Zambia has happened.
The article attributed the arrest of an activist, Mr Raphael Nakacinda over contempt of court charges under legislation set up by Lungu’s administration. Makayi noted, “Nakacinda alleged that he has physical evidence that HH is having midnight meetings with judges at his house so that certain judgments are in favour of the ruling party, meaning that the regime is just arresting people anyhow, and when called upon, he reversed his statement to say he never had evidence at all,” said Makayi.
Meanwhile, when asked by the BBC for examples of how the police have accosted him, Lungu claimed saying in a recent incident, “I went to the CopperBelt. On my way, I stopped by Kasanda, which is the central part of the country. I wanted to pick up this call when the Bishop of the church, Catholic church there, they just came where we were in the bishop’s office and told me you can’t be here, you shouldn’t be here. And then when the bishop asked why? They said that you are not supposed to be here. This one cannot come here without letting us know.”
The incident Lungu referred is on LIVE Facebook video, and has no such wording.
The government’s Communications Office countered Lungu’s statements, announcing, “We wish to clarify the former president Lungu has never been placed under house arrest, and that Mr. Lungu is now freely traversing our cities and towns exercising his rights to freedom of speech and association.”
Lungu also spoke about his determination to continue in politics: “Well, I’ve returned to politics. There’s no doubt about it, that I have when they’ve made it very clear. And I’m saying I’m ready to face the consequences of coming back to politics. There’s no doubt about it, then they know, the hidden but I would like to have access to the freedoms enshrined in my constitution.”
Lungu is on record threatening that violence will overthrow the current government, during a time when he had assumed extra judicial powers so to accuse his opponents of violence. (WATCH VIDEO).
By Political Reporter- By Political Reporter – Zanu PF senior member and Justice Ziyambi Ziyambi has criticized his party’s spokesperson, Chris Mutsvangwa, over the arrest of Mutsvangwa’s son on allegations of trading ZiG.
Ziyambi said that relatives and children of political heavyweights were destabilizing the exchange rates through foreign currency manipulation.
He asserted that there would be no exemptions in the government’s crackdown on those violating the Exchange Control Act.
“We have found out that those who are causing trouble [in the market] are bigwigs’ children, but this time we are not leaving perpetrators of forex manipulation because he or she is a political heavyweight’s son or daughter. We are arresting and sentencing them [if they are found on the wrong side of the law],” Ziyambi stated.
This statement comes after the arrest of Neville Mutsvangwa, the son of ZANU PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa and Monica Mutsvangwa, Women’s Affairs, Minister.
Neville was apprehended a fortnight ago at his Mt Pleasant home in Harare by detectives from the CID commercial crimes unit for allegedly violating the Exchange Control Act by trading in foreign currency illegally.
Neville remains in custody, awaiting his bail ruling by the High Court on Monday next week.
Sources reported to Business Times that ruling elites are acquiring cheap forex from local financial institutions and channelling it into the parallel market through their children.
One source remarked, “We have a situation whereby the majority of the top chefs’ children are in the business of illegal forex dealings, gold smuggling, and money laundering, but nothing has been done to them. With Minister Ziyambi saying the children involved in illicit deals will be dealt with, we hope there will be a change. We don’t know what the police meant when they said they want the members of the public to give them information about those supplying money changers with money when they have the databases of everyone and can access the bank accounts and information from everywhere. They are fearing to engage the real godfathers of illicit deals.”
However, some economists argue that arresting forex manipulators will not halt the depreciation of the Zimbabwe gold (ZiG) since the market lacks confidence in the new currency.

By Showbiz Reporter- The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has lifted the ban on Winky D’s music across its radio stations amid reports that the ruling party is attempting to persuade him to soften his critical stance.
Zanu PF youth leader Charles Munganasa, who was appointed acting ZBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) last month, is reportedly leading the strategy to approach Gaffa with the ruling party’s proposal.
The Zimdancehall artist’s songs were banned from ZBC radio stations following the release of his album “Eureka Eureka” on January 1, 2023.
The album, which contains the song “Ibotso,” criticized corruption, mismanagement, and the abuse of public resources by a greedy elite, angering Zimbabwe’s ruling establishment and leading to the censorship of Winky D’s music.
A source cited by NewZimbabwe confirmed the lift of the ban, allowing Winky D’s newly released song, “Love Quartet,” to receive significant airplay on local radio stations.
On March 4, 2023, police officers stormed the stage during Winky D’s live performance and shut down his show, an act widely seen as an attempt to intimidate him due to his critical commentary.

“We are putting asphalt roads. It is a first for WestProp and we are reliably informed we are the second development to put asphalt on residential roads,” said Mr Sharpe.
Chief Projects Officer Mr Mandla Ndebele indicated the signature road will make Pomona City “the best place to live and enjoy street driving”.
On completion, the Pomona project would be worth US$4 billion.
Key infrastructure such as the Pomona US$630k multi-purpose gatehouse is already in place, and water storm drains and water reticulation are already in place.
Dubbed a city within a city because of its attributes that bring all urban aspects of life, work, shop, and play into one community, Pomona City is set to be a major prototype development that will be copied and replicated by other developers.
World-renowned architects were engaged in working on the master plan and building structures, making the development a fusion of cultures and very cosmopolitan.
The lifestyle community development combines the use of technology, communal living spaces and unique social amenities that differentiate the estate from the traditional suburban designs.
The social amenities are exclusively reserved for the owners of properties to preserve privacy and uphold value.
Infrastructure developments and designs at Pomona City mirror the ones largely found in Dubai, which have traits similar to those in modern world capitals.

Suspending Elections to 10years to Sustain Zimbabwe’s Developmental Momentum, Zimbabwe has made under the leadership of the Second Republic, suspending elections until 2030 to maintain the country’s current trajectory of growth and development.
While this idea may be controversial, it warrants careful consideration given the potential benefits to the nation’s long-term prosperity.
The Second Republic, under President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at reviving Zimbabwe’s economy and improving the livelihoods of its citizens.
From the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold currency to the significant strides in the lithium industry, these efforts are beginning to bear fruit and foster a renewed sense of optimism across the country.
It is essential to acknowledge the importance of political stability in sustaining and building upon these positive developments.
Suspending elections until 2030 would provide the Second Republic with the necessary time and focus to see these long-term initiatives through to fruition without the distractions and disruptions that often accompany election cycles.
This proposal may draw criticism from those who argue that elections are an essential component of democratic governance.
However, it is crucial to balance this concern with the urgent need to solidify the economic gains made thus far. A temporary suspension of elections, with a clear end date and a commitment to resume democratic processes in 2030, could provide the necessary space for Zimbabwe’s progress to take root and flourish.
As the country continues to navigate its path towards a more prosperous future, it is essential to consider bold proposals like this that prioritize long-term development and stability. By thoughtfully weighing the potential risks and rewards, Zimbabwe can make informed decisions that will shape its trajectory for generations to come. #Vision2030

Government Critique of Wicknell Chivayo—A Retrospective Insight
By Farai D Hove | The Zimbabwean government’s principal newspaper, The Herald, under the byline of Farirai Machivenyika, starkly criticized businessman Wicknell Chivayo, painting a picture of a flashy but unreliable entrepreneur. This critique emerged in the context of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s comments during a tour of the Nyangani Renewable Energy project, which contrasted sharply with Chivayo’s troubled Gwanda solar project.
President Mnangagwa’s remarks highlighted a learning curve for the government stemming from the Gwanda project’s failures compared to the operational success at Nyangani. Mnangagwa emphasized the need for future projects to engage with “committed people who have experience in projects of this nature,” rather than “fly-by-night briefcase businessmen,” a clear jab at Chivayo. The President’s blunt reminder that “Chikurubi is not full” underscored a warning of potential legal repercussions, linking poor business practices with possible incarceration.
This framing in The Herald not only served as a public reprimand but also as a strategic alignment of the government’s narrative with public accountability and transparency in economic dealings. The state’s portrayal of Chivayo juxtaposed his social media displays of wealth—including selfies with stacks of cash—against the backdrop of his professional failures, notably the stagnant Gwanda project that saw little progress despite significant financial outlays.
The parliamentary inquiry led by Norton legislator Temba Mliswa into the Gwanda project further compounded Chivayo’s troubles. It exposed serious irregularities and recommended that the tender be rescinded and funds repaid, painting a picture of mismanagement and inefficiency that directly contrasted with the professional execution seen at Nyangani Renewable Energy.
Reflecting on this 2018 media coverage offers insights into how the Zimbabwean government has utilized state media to shape public perception of business practices, highlighting a broader strategy of using high-profile cases to signal a crackdown on corruption and incompetence. This approach not only targets individual figures like Chivayo but also serves as a cautionary tale to other potential government contractors.
Nyangani Renewable Energy, with its long track record and significant contributions to the national grid, embodies the type of partnership the government promotes as ideal—experienced, efficient, and effective. This narrative underscores a clear governmental preference for reliability and experience over mere entrepreneurial zeal, which might be prone to overpromise and underdeliver.
The Herald’s treatment of the Chivayo case thus reflects not just a moment of governmental frustration but also a deliberate attempt to recalibrate expectations and standards for public-private partnerships in Zimbabwe. This news analysis from 2018 continues to resonate as a critical examination of how government expectations and media portrayals can influence national economic policy and business conduct.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) President OBERT MASARAURE has been sentenced to a fine of US$200.00 or spend 2 months in prison with a suspended 4 months over the next 5 years.
According to ARTUZ, the ruling is a grave injustice and a continued attempt to silence the legitimate advocacy efforts of ARTUZ.
“While this ruling was not a complete victory, it demonstrates the impact of ARTUZ’s steadfast efforts and the global solidarity that supported their cause. We are deeply grateful to our partners, stakeholders, union members, and citizens at large who have stood in solidarity with President Obert Masaraure and the fight for teachers’ rights in Zimbabwe.
“.The initial conviction of Masaraure was an unjust crackdown on his legitimate advocacy for the rights and dignity of Zimbabwe’s educators, and the underlying injustice of this conviction remains. The struggle for the rights and dignity of Zimbabwe’s educators continues, and ARTUZ’s fight has not been in vain, as their voices have persevered.
“This episode has proven that when workers come together, their united voices cannot be suppressed by the authorities. ARTUZ will not be deterred. The union will continue to challenge this unfair outcome and persist in its unwavering pursuit of a more equitable and just educational system for all in Zimbabwe’s rural regions.
“The path ahead remains arduous, but ARTUZ’s resolve remains steadfast. We will continue to fight against injustice and amplify the voices of Zimbabwe’s educators in the ongoing struggle for their rights and livelihoods. ARTUZ will not be silenced, and it will continue to stand up for the fundamental rights and dignity of the teaching profession,” said ARTUZ in a statement.
The consequences of Mai Titi (Felistas Murata)’s deceptions to an immigration officer at Heathrow Airport that she is married to a certain Gilbert Kandiado are likely to be severe and long-lasting, affecting her ability to travel, work, and live in foreign countries. Legal advice should be sought immediately to address these issues proactively, solicitors have advised.
The consequences are likely to extend beyond the UK to affect future visa applications to other European countries and the United States.
### Legal Risks in the UK
1. **False Representation:** Under the UK Immigration Rules, providing false information or documents (including lying about marital status) constitutes a false representation. This is covered under paragraph 320(7A) of the rules. A person found to have used deception in their application—including lying verbally during an interview—can be refused entry or leave to remain in the UK.
2. **Consequences of Deception:** The immediate consequence of being found to have lied to an immigration officer is typically a refusal of entry or visa application. Furthermore, the individual can also face a re-entry ban to the UK, which can last up to 10 years. This is detailed in paragraph 320(7B) of the Immigration Rules.
3. **Criminal Charges:** Beyond immigration penalties, there could be criminal implications. Under the UK’s Immigration Act 1971, it is a criminal offense to make a false representation knowingly or recklessly in order to obtain a leave to enter or remain in the UK. Convictions can lead to imprisonment and/or a fine.
### Impact on Visa Applications to Other European Countries and the US
1. **Schengen Area and EU Countries:** European countries typically share information about immigration offenses and bans within the Schengen Information System (SIS) and other databases. A record of deception in the UK can lead to refusals of Schengen visas or entry denials by other EU countries, as these nations often take into account previous immigration histories and bans imposed by other countries within the area.
2. **United States:** The US Department of State also considers immigration violations and deception in visa applications very seriously. Under U.S. immigration law, particularly the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), providing false information can render an individual inadmissible. This could result in a denial of a visa application and potentially a permanent bar on entry to the United States.
### General Advice
– **Disclosure and Transparency:** It’s important to be honest and transparent in all dealings with immigration authorities. If there has been a previous instance of providing misleading or false information, it is advisable to consult with an immigration lawyer who can provide guidance on potentially rectifying the situation, such as through proper disclosure in subsequent applications.
– **Legal Representation:** Engaging a legal expert who specializes in immigration law can help navigate the complexities of immigration processes and provide advice tailored to individual circumstances, particularly if there are complicating factors such as previous misrepresentations.
– **Impact on Future Travel:** Understand that immigration offenses can severely impact one’s ability to travel internationally, not just to the UK but globally. This can affect both personal and professional opportunities abroad.
By Showbiz Reporter | In a bold and poetic video release, the controversial Cape Town-based figure known as Baba Rokadhiya has ignited a heated discussion with his latest comments on the nature of zebras and donkeys. The video, which rapidly circulated across social media platforms, features Rokadhiya speaking in a poetic monologue that compares the undomesticated nature of zebras to societal perceptions of beauty and relationships.
“Do you ever sit down and think for yourself? Have you ever considered how beautiful a zebra is, with its striking skin and good-looking exterior?” Baba Rokadhiya asks his audience, drawing parallels between the animal’s allure and human societal values. He recounts his experience working at a game range, praising the taste of zebra meat and questioning why zebras are not domesticated like donkeys.
The video takes a more provocative turn as Baba Rokadhiya discusses the objectification of women, likening it to the way people admire zebras. “We appreciate seeing you wild; we love everything about you when you’re traveling, your body and all it reveals, which you call cleavage. Often, we chase you because we’ve seen everything,” he declares, stirring controversy with his stark commentary on gender and societal expectations.
Baba Rokadhiya continues, addressing the choices men make in relationships: “Men might choose a woman who does not appear as attractive for marriage. Often, you find someone who is not conventionally attractive being chosen for marriage.” He challenges his viewers to reflect on the superficial values that often guide human interactions and the paradox of desirability versus domesticity.
Concluding his poetic soliloquy, Rokadhiya makes a poignant comparison: “Like the zebra, which is never taken home, we prefer to take donkeys and leave zebras in the game parks. Donkeys are simply better suited for domestic life than beautiful zebras.” His words have sparked a widespread dialogue, with many viewers interpreting the video as a metaphor for deeper social issues, while others criticize it for its controversial analogies.
The video has quickly become a viral sensation, prompting discussions about societal norms, the objectification of women, and the value we assign to beauty and utility.
FULL TEXT:
Write a breaking news story with quotes revealing that the controversial Capetown based so called Baba Rokadhiya has unleashed a video in which he speaks about zebras and donkeys.
Speaking in moving poetry, the man said: “Do you ever sit down and think for yourself? Have you ever considered how beautiful a zebra is, with its striking skin and good-looking exterior? Believe me, I once worked at a game range, and its meat is delightful. If you’ve ever eaten zebra biltong, you’ll understand its appeal—so nice and sweet. Yet, have you ever wondered why no one has domesticated zebras the way they have with donkeys?
We appreciate seeing you wild; we love everything about you when you’re traveling, your body and all it reveals, which you call cleavage. Often, we chase you because we’ve seen everything. But the question you haven’t asked yourself is, why has no one tried to bring you into their home? Men do not want to take you in.
Men might choose a woman who does not appear as attractive for marriage. Often, you find someone who is not conventionally attractive being chosen for marriage.
You see, men are not foolish; they see you out there and may pursue you for intimacy, but they will never choose you for marriage.
So, if you want to change your lifestyle, do so because it might make men consider taking you in.
Like the zebra, which is never taken home, we prefer to take donkeys and leave zebras in the game parks. Donkeys are simply better suited for domestic life than beautiful zebras.”
By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for suspects who allegedly shot and killed Rwandese national Samuel Habimana in Waterfalls, Harare on Friday night.
Habimana was shot in the neck at his Mainway Meadows home in Waterfalls, Harare, under unclear circumstances after a four-member gang broke it his house.
ZRP national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi told ZBC News that investigations into the murder are underway, just as accusations swirled that the assailants are foreign political operatives from Rwanda.
“As the Zimbabwe Republic Police we are investigating the shooting incident which took place in Waterfalls, Harare in view to find the motive behind the shooting.
“We believe that the suspects tracked him from Harare’s Central Business District to his home in Waterfalls.
“We want to assure the public that comprehensive investigations are currently underway and no stone will be left unturned,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Commissioner Nyathi also warned the public against publishing information which has not been verified.
“I want to warn the public against publishing false information on social media. We are urging the public that if they have any information they want the public to know they are free to come to our offices rather than publishing such without verification,” added Nyathi.
A report claimed Habimana (49), who was killed in front of his son, wife, and house help, was assassinated.
A former Rwandan refugee in Zimbabwe, Ansbert Nkundineza, and one of the leading opposition figures in exile said that the shooting was a terror incident linked to Kigali.
“We have been receiving information about distressed Rwandan refugees for a while now, most are fearful of their own lives and those of loved ones from Rwandan operatives currently roaming the streets of Harare at large.
“We call upon the government of Zimbabwe to ensure the safety of Rwandan refugees as enshrined in the Geneva Convention,” Nkundineza said.

By A Correspondent| Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu has backtracked on his initial assertion that he did not know much about structured currency and engaged a World Bank consultant before introducing the new ZiG currency.
Responding to questions from the floor during a business meeting organised by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Masvingo chapter on Friday, 03 May, Mushayavanhu said ZiG will not fail as it was not imposed on the market, but a well-thought-out and purely Zimbabwean idea.
“No one told us to introduce the ZiG currency, of course, when doing something, one might seek for ideas and advice from others just to fine-tune but it does not mean that if you consult on something you want to do, it means you did not originate it.
“We consulted widely yes, but ZiG is my product as the Governor of the Reserve Bank and if it fails it’s my fault; it’s my brainchild,” said Mushayavanhu.
Mushayavanhu said he started mulling the idea of introducing the ZiG currency in September last year when President Emmerson Mnangagwa revealed to him that he would be the next RBZ Governor.
“If at all it fails, but I don’t see the reason why the ZiG should fail and it will not fail; but in the unlikely event that it fails, then it’s entirely our responsibility as Zimbabweans and my responsibility as Governor of the central bank.
“ZiG is a Zimbabwean-born currency, it’s a Zimbabwean product made by Zimbabweans, myself included,” added Mushayanhu
By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | In an unexpected turn of events, Master H has missed his flight to the UK for the Zimbabwe Cup Clash UK 2024. The absence is due to a visa issue concerning his manager, Mupondasugar, who is currently without a valid UK visa.

The recent decision by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to deny the late former Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Eunice Sandi Moyo national heroine status has ignited a wave of outrage across Matabeleland.
This development has intensified long-standing grievances among the region’s populace, who feel increasingly marginalized by the ruling elite in Harare.
Eunice Sandi Moyo, a prominent political figure and a dedicated public servant, was widely respected in Matabeleland for her commitment to regional development and her advocacy for the rights of marginalized communities.
Her contributions, many argue, merit recognition on a national scale. However, the government’s refusal to bestow upon her the revered status of a national heroine has been met with accusations of systemic bias and regional discrimination.
Matabeleland, a region with a complex and often tumultuous history with the central government, has long felt the brunt of political and economic marginalization. The denial of national heroine status to Sandi Moyo is viewed by many as yet another slight in a series of perceived injustices.
Civic leaders and local politicians have expressed their dismay, emphasizing that such decisions exacerbate existing tensions and hinder national unity.
Prominent voices from Matabeleland have been vocal about their disappointment. “This decision is not just an insult to the legacy of Eunice Sandi Moyo but also to the people of Matabeleland who saw her as a beacon of hope and progress,” remarked a local leader.
The sentiment is echoed widely, with many fearing that the refusal to honor Sandi Moyo appropriately will deepen the chasm between Matabeleland and the central government.
Critics argue that the ruling ZANU-PF party, under Mnangagwa, has repeatedly shown reluctance to recognize and celebrate contributions from Matabeleland leaders, thereby perpetuating a narrative of exclusion. They point to a pattern where accolades and national honors seem disproportionately awarded to individuals from other regions, reinforcing the sense of marginalization in Matabeleland.
The government, on its part, has remained largely silent on the specific reasons behind the decision. However, supporters of Mnangagwa’s administration suggest that the criteria for national hero status are stringent and not influenced by regional biases. They urge for a nuanced understanding of the selection process, although this does little to assuage the discontent brewing in Matabeleland.
In the wake of this decision, there are growing calls for a reassessment of how national hero statuses are conferred. Advocates for reform argue for a more transparent and inclusive process that genuinely reflects the diverse contributions of leaders from all regions of Zimbabwe. Such reforms, they suggest, could foster a greater sense of national cohesion and mitigate regional disparities.
As Zimbabwe navigates this controversy, the legacy of Eunice Sandi Moyo remains a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for recognition and equality faced by many in Matabeleland. The uproar surrounding her denied national heroine status is not just a reflection of regional dissatisfaction but also a call to action for more equitable governance that honors the contributions of all Zimbabweans, irrespective of their regional affiliations.

The wily Zanu PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has been under intense scrutiny for allegedly rigging the 2023 polls, appears to have managed to coax the Southern African Development Community (SADC) into a more favorable stance, if a photograph he posted on Wednesday is anything to go by.
Mnangagwa, who has faced widespread criticism for purportedly subverting the will of the Zimbabwean people in the August 2023 elections, shared an image on social media that suggests a successful engagement with SADC officials.
This has sparked a flurry of reactions and speculation about the true nature of SADC’s position on Zimbabwe’s electoral controversy.
In a statement on Facebook, Mnangagwa detailed the meeting: “This morning, I was honoured to receive the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Magosi, at State House. He was accompanied by key directors from SADC.
We had fruitful discussions on our shared goals for the region and the recent SADC Extraordinary Summit, where we addressed economic development, regional security, and climate resilience. #Zimbabwe #SADC.”
The photograph and the accompanying statement aim to convey a sense of normalcy and cooperation between Zimbabwe and the regional body, despite the ongoing allegations against Mnangagwa.
Critics argue that this move is part of a broader strategy to gain legitimacy and deflect attention from the contentious election results.
Mnangagwa’s ability to engage with SADC officials could be seen as an attempt to mend Zimbabwe’s image and assert his position as the legitimate leader.
However, the effectiveness of this strategy in quelling both domestic and international dissent remains to be seen.
While the details of the discussions with SADC were not disclosed, the reference to economic development, regional security, and climate resilience indicates a broad agenda that aligns with SADC’s regional priorities.
This alignment might help Mnangagwa garner support or at least neutralize opposition within the regional bloc.
Observers will be closely monitoring SADC’s next moves and statements to assess whether this meeting signifies a shift in the regional body’s stance or merely a diplomatic engagement without substantive changes in policy or perspective on Zimbabwe’s electoral integrity.
The controversy surrounding the 2023 elections in Zimbabwe is far from over, and Mnangagwa’s recent interactions with SADC will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative and influencing future developments in the region.

Police in Mwenezi last week made a significant drug bust, intercepting a cross-border bus and arresting a passenger, Janet Mutarisi (39), for unlawful possession of 42 kilogrammes of mbanje (dagga).
The interception occurred at the 143-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, a notorious route for contraband smuggling.
Authorities reported that the mbanje was meticulously concealed in two large boxes, stashed underneath the tent of the bus trailer. This method of hiding the drugs suggests a calculated attempt to evade detection by law enforcement.
The arrest of Mutarisi is part of a broader effort by police to clamp down on the trafficking of illegal substances across borders. The strategic location of the bust, along a major transportation route, highlights the vigilance and proactive measures being undertaken by the authorities to curb drug smuggling activities.
A Mwenezi police source , when reached for comment, emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and combating drug-related crimes in the region.
“We are continually enhancing our surveillance and inspection procedures to ensure that we intercept illegal substances before they reach our communities,” the ZRP source stated
Janet Mutarisi is expected to face serious charges related to drug possession and trafficking, which carry heavy penalties under Zimbabwean law.
This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with the illegal drug trade and the rigorous enforcement actions that those involved can expect.
The case has drawn significant attention and is likely to prompt further investigations into the networks and individuals involved in drug trafficking operations.
The authorities have underscored the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities, which is crucial for effective law enforcement.
As the case develops, it will be closely watched by both the public and those within the legal and criminal justice sectors.
The successful interception and arrest demonstrate the effectiveness of the current measures in place, but also highlight the ongoing challenge of combating drug trafficking in the region.
Shurugwi Employer Sentenced to Three Years in Jail for Shooting Employee, Matching Fraudster Wicknell Chivayo’s Term
In a striking turn of events reminiscent of the judicial outcome faced by convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo, Tawanda Darangwa, a 41-year-old man from Shurugwi, has been sentenced to a net three years in prison after shooting his employee. The sentence handed down by Gweru Regional Magistrate Christopher Maturure aligns with the duration that Chivayo previously spent behind bars, emphasizing a unique parallel in legal repercussions for vastly different crimes.
Darangwa, who faced charges of attempted murder for his violent conduct, was initially sentenced to five years. However, two of those years have been suspended on the condition of good behavior, effectively placing him in confinement for the same period as Chivayo. This comparison sheds light on the judicial system’s handling of crimes involving personal harm and financial deceit under similar punitive durations.
The incident, which occurred on September 22, 2021, at Gutsaruzhinji Cooperative in Shurugwi, involved Darangwa shooting his female employee, Marian Gwasarira, with a Pietro Berreta pistol, inflicting a shoulder wound. The motives behind Darangwa’s actions remain unclear, but the consequences have been decisively outlined by the court.
During the sentencing, Magistrate Maturure took into account several mitigating factors. He noted Darangwa’s intoxicated state at the time of the crime, which may have impaired his judgment, and his subsequent remorse. After the shooting, Darangwa not only transported Gwasarira to Gweru for medical treatment but also contributed $2,000 towards her medical bills—a gesture indicating repentance.
Nevertheless, the magistrate underscored the gravity of Darangwa’s offense, particularly highlighting the vulnerability of the victim. “What makes your crime more serious is that you used a weapon on a defenseless woman, especially since the victim was your employee,” Magistrate Maturure remarked, emphasizing the breach of trust inherent in employer-employee relationships.
This case not only brings to the fore the issue of workplace safety but also echoes the judicial system’s stance on personal accountability, as seen in Chivayo’s case. Both individuals have on their heads three years reflecting on their actions behind bars, serving as a cautionary tale for personal conduct, whether it involves financial malfeasance or direct physical harm.
Public Prosecutor Sibangani Thando Dube represented the state, advocating for justice for Gwasarira, while Darangwa’s defense was managed by Kwande Legal Practitioners. The outcome of this case sends a clear message about the consequences of harmful actions, paralleling the punishment previously seen in high-profile fraud cases.

The 2030 Agenda as it is currently conceived , constructed & promoted through intimidating Sloganeering is a very narrow mission that noone should lose sleep over.
Its proponents want those it will serve to be physically around up to 2030 lording over us. Yes , 2030 only .
The message one seems to get from all this is materialism not ideas , accumulation not philosophical , entitlement not regeneration .
If these things mattered then Proverbs and Ecclesiastes would not have outlived the material accumulation of King Solomon , the splendour and majesty of his palaces, the sheer force of his horses and chariots , his £2.3 trillion gold fortune etc.
Where are these now ? Only the ideas upon which Solomon ‘s wisdom was famed survived !
The world is ruled by dead men . We must be ready to die not unready because we and our acolytes have not yet finished the harvest and accumulation of the material , but because in our wake we have planted a lasting legacy that will be celebrated and inspire future generations and continue to give them an identity long after we are gone. Ideas unlimited.
True – all of the ideologies that serve as the foundation of governments , religion , social and economic institutions were inspired by the dead . Legacy of ideas.
Just as precedence , we change names of buildings and roads we did not build and name them after ourselves , so will the buildings , bridges and roads we have built by future generations. But ideas we did not generate, cannot be changed or named after self.
The grave has failed to contain the influence and ideas of men like Jesus Christ, Prophet Muhammad, Karl Max, Charles Darwin, Keynes etc .
Although a victim of November 2017 , at some stage during that eventful week for a moment in all the euphoria , I thought wow these gentlemen are up to something , when they were waving the Constitution invoking terms like ” Operation Restore Legacy ” …what caught my attention was the word “legacy” and the document they were waving , the Constitution , an amalgam of ideas on how we had agreed to govern ourselves.
If we had gone off the rails of this sacrosanct set of ideas, we deserved to be corrected but only
constitutionally i figured out , hence my long stay from it all to this day .
To therefore watch and see the very people who stood on higher ground correcting , seemingly repeating the same things they sought to correct is the zenith of insincerity and unpatriotic acts.

A Chipinge n’anga, Kudakwashe Chinhara, aged 22, has been brought before the Shurugwi Magistrate’s Court, charged with fraudulently obtaining over ZAR 12,000 and US$340 from Isaac Mudzengi, a 45-year-old truck driver.
Mudzengi, who was seeking compensation from his employer, the South African company N.R Group, after a work-related injury, turned to Chinhara in desperation. Chinhara, hailing from Chikwanda Village under Chief Chivese in Chipinge, allegedly promised swift results through mystical interventions.
The situation escalated when Chinhara initially demanded ZAR 1,200, assuring that Mudzengi’s compensation would be processed within two days. After receiving a falsified message about his compensation being ready, Mudzengi was led further down a costly path by Chinhara’s continuous demands. These included putting Mukuru employees under a spell and removing a supposed goblin bringing bad fortune, which cost Mudzengi more money and even his property.
The deceit spiraled as Chinhara further claimed that spirits were threatening Mudzengi’s son, prompting more financial demands. The scam came to light when only a fraction of the extorted money, ZAR 200, was recovered upon Chinhara’s arrest following Mudzengi’s report to the police.
This case has sparked outrage and a critical discussion on the ethical practices and credibility of traditional healers. The court proceedings, led by Magistrate Percy Mukumba, are closely watched as the community seeks justice for the exploited victims of fraudulent spiritual promises.
In the wake of alarming incidents such as the recent Chipinge n’anga case, it becomes imperative to address the dangers posed by individuals promising miraculous solutions to desperate situations. Often, these self-proclaimed miracle workers exploit the vulnerabilities of those in distress, capitalizing on the hope that an extraordinary intervention can overturn a dire situation. However, it is crucial to remember that such promises lack any scientific basis and often, any real accountability. The absence of checks and balances in the realm of supernatural claims allows charlatans to operate unchecked, leaving a trail of financial and emotional devastation.
The allure of quick fixes and supernatural solutions can be strong, especially in times of personal crisis or hardship. Yet, it’s important for individuals to approach such offers with a critical eye and seek verification before committing resources or belief. Engaging in due diligence, such as researching the background of the service provider, seeking second opinions, and even consulting recognized authorities in the field, can protect against deceit. Public education on these matters should be intensified, empowering citizens with knowledge about the typical tactics used by scammers and the logical fallacies often employed to lure in victims.
Lastly, it is incumbent upon regulators and community leaders to establish and enforce stricter guidelines and oversight concerning claims of supernatural interventions. By implementing stringent standards and penalties, alongside promoting transparency, society can better shield its members from exploitation. Fostering a culture of skepticism and critical thinking will also play a crucial role in countering the spread of these harmful practices. In sum, while the need for hope is undeniably human, it should not lead to suspension of reason or expose individuals to further harm.

By Showbiz Reporter | The socialite Mai Titi (Felistas Murata) destroys President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s reputation as a sane man in a series of leaks published by ZimEye.
This program springs from exclusive State House footage recorded at the Head Of State’s Kwekwe farm that has a history of multiple controversies regarding loose women and embarrassing sexual escapades one of which he was once caught in the act by his wife, Auxillia, fleeing into the thick green maize field in the melee.
In the upcoming imagery, Mnangagwa is revealed as the leader who seems addicted to whisky, as he has for years been rumoured to be. “ED makes national decisions over a glass of whisky,” said a G40 faction member in the period he unleashed soldiers onto protesters after single handedly changing the price of fuel, in 2019.
The weekly ZimEye series, contains imagery that has been banned by State House after Mai Titi had posted the first video clip before being ordered to take it down, and being slightly reprimanded over it.

Give me and many of us plausible justifications for 2030 and we will give you a lifetime, we will open the graves for you, because 2030 will be too short .

Citizens’ leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has resolutely pledged to alter Zimbabwe’s prevailing narrative of international isolation and negativity, promising a future filled with pride, transformation, opportunities, and prosperity.
Speaking on Wednesday, Chamisa shared a poignant anecdote highlighting the grim perception of Zimbabwe abroad. “Image is everything,” he began, underscoring the importance of international reputation.
He recounted a story from a Zimbabwean businessman who recently traveled to Ivory Coast.
During the trip to Boulevard Beach Resort in Abidjan, the businessman passed through a disordered and dirty slum community.
“Shockingly, the tour guide revealed that this slum was named ‘Zimbabwe,'” Chamisa narrated. The guide explained that the name symbolized the chaos, disorder, and filth characterizing the area.
The businessman, who had not disclosed his nationality, was taken aback by this stark and negative representation of his homeland.
“This revelation reflects the painful perception of our beloved country by others elsewhere, even from the African continent,” Chamisa lamented.
He noted that such views persist despite Zimbabwe being endowed with significant natural resources, including the largest lithium deposits in Africa.
“Such a harsh reality goes to show how broken politics and rigged, disputed, and illegal elections have cast a long shadow on our beautiful nation,” he added.
Chamisa’s vision for Zimbabwe is one of radical change. “The Zimbabwean story will change.
We will reclaim and transform the Zimbabwean story into one of pride, transformation, opportunities, and prosperity,” he declared, emphasizing the urgent need for political and social reform.
In his speech, Chamisa reiterated his commitment to fostering a positive international image and creating a prosperous future for Zimbabweans.
He ended his address with a call to unity and optimism, rallying the nation with the hashtags #changeisgood and #OnePeople.
Advocate Chamisa’s message resonated with many who believe in the potential for a new Zimbabwe, free from the shadows of its past and ready to embrace a future of dignity and growth.

Good morning Zimbabwe. Dear Christopher Mutsvangwa,
While you moan about Monica Mutsvangwa having increased bouts of high blood pressure on the thought of your morbidly obese son Neville’s continuous incarceration at Remand, please kindly advise your family Dr to either increase the dosage of whatever BP medication Monica has been prescribed or try an alternative medicine to the already prescribed.
Our people are being affected by blood pressure due to the increased financial woes facing them. Our people are even dying of blood pressure due to the fact that they cannot afford the medication, all this thanks to your entitlement and looting in government whilst abusing ZanuPF to destroy our people and what Zimbabweis capable of. As of Monica I am pretty sure her blood pressure is a result of her own unwise lifestyle choices unlike our impoverished people of Zimbabwe who have no choices. Monica her situation can be different if she has a new approach to her lifestyle and repent from looting, money laundering or stepping on Extra Darkness Mnangagwa’s toes serving her son from being a criminal who ends up a jailbird. I am pretty sure if all the above suggestions mentioned are considered ,Monica might save herself from having bouts of high blood pressure since she is a cry baby . Ehuhuweeeee, nyalala nhanha Monicaaaaa…ehuhuhuweeee Nevhi ngaagare ikoko kusvika ati agura humbavha. Ndikoko, pasi nembavha✊️

By Political Reporter- The War Veterans League Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with President Mnangagwa to discuss the party’s succession issue.
Mnangagwa is serving his 2nd and final term in both the party and the government and is supposed to hand over power to his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
However, Mnangagwa seems to be refusing to step down, as evidenced by his 2030 campaign, which his close associates are fronting.
Mnangagwa’s meeting with the war vets was the first time since the establishment of the wing two years ago.
Sources within those who attended the meeting say the War Vets wanted to know Mnangagwa’s succession plan.
” It was a frank meeting, and we asked the President to state to us what his plans are on who will succeed him, although we clearly know that the VP is the second in-command and should automatically take-over. Our worry is that the President wants to behave the Mugabe way and that is what we have told him,” said one of the former liberation fighters we can not name because he will be victimised.
The war veterans, once an affiliate of the party, are now a fully-fledged wing of Zanu PF.
Zanu PF Secretary for War Veterans, Cde Douglas Mahiya, Wednesday told reporters, “This one is the first one ever since the formation of the League in 2022.”
War veterans were instrumental in the coup that ousted former President Robert Mugabe in November 2017.
The former liberation war fighters mobilised Zimbabweans, misleading them into believing that Mugabe was a stumbling block to the country’s democracy and prosperity.
They also deceived the then main opposition, MDC-T, promising a unity government after Mugabe’s removal, only to abandon them after using them to mobilise against the former leader.
The war vets then placed Mnangagwa in Mugabe’s position and made Chiwenga the deputy, agreeing that Mnangagwa would step down for Chiwenga in 2028.
However, Mnangagwa’s close associates have started campaigning for his indefinite rule, closing the doors for Chiwenga.
Zimbabwe Announces Long-Awaited Medical Aid and Economic Support for War Veterans.
Harare, Zimbabwe – In a move that has caught the attention of many, Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced a new package of medical aid and economic opportunities for war veterans, who have waited 44 years for such recognition. The announcement comes on the heels of another significant political gesture—a compensation plan for dispossessed white farmers that was unveiled just last week.
During a passionate address to members of the War Veterans League, President Mnangagwa pledged comprehensive support, saying, “My administration is ready to facilitate the broad-based empowerment of your membership so that you fully participate in the economy, as well as the ongoing industrialisation, modernisation, and national development agenda.”
This policy shift is seen as part of a broader effort to secure support ahead of Zanu PF’s elective congress later this year. Mnangagwa’s administration has faced criticism over the delayed fulfillment of promises to veterans, a crucial constituency that has shown signs of growing impatience.
The President has tasked the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs and the War Veterans Board with expediting the implementation of these new benefits. “As the lead ministry and institutions administering key legislative functions concerning war veterans of the liberation struggle, you must be innovative, work harder, and make strategic decisions to cater to the welfare and concerns of our veterans,” Mnangagwa stated.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and political consciousness among the veterans, urging them to develop and implement programs that support the restructuring and re-organization of the War Veterans League. This includes organization from the local to the national level, adhering to the party’s stringent constitutional democratic processes.
The announcement has been met with mixed reactions. While many veterans welcome the long-overdue recognition and support, others remain skeptical about the timing and the actual implementation of these promises.
Political analysts suggest that this strategic move is not only about addressing the grievances of war veterans but also about solidifying a base of support in the face of potential challenges within the party and the broader political landscape of Zimbabwe.
As Zimbabwe heads towards its elective congress, the eyes of the nation and international observers will be closely watching how these new policies unfold and their impact on the political stability of the country.
By A Correspondent| Zimbabwean professor based in South Africa found himself in a harrowing situation after allegedly being abducted by a group of eight men aiming to steal his cryptocurrency holdings worth US$13 billion, a court has heard.
Sixty-year-old Moses Chademana was granted bail of US$1,000 and will remain out of custody until his next court appearance on June 13, as decided by Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa. Chademana is facing charges of kidnapping and impersonation in relation to the abduction of Sheperd Sikhosana and his wife, Sekayi Adelpha.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti stated that on May 13, 2024, Chademana and his accomplices in South Africa devised a plan to abduct Sikhosana and his wife. The group, posing as Interpol agents, consisted of five individuals of African descent and two Caucasians.
The court was informed that the accused approached Sikhosana, questioning his association with Falcon Gold Digital Forensic and Crypto Recovery Services, a company that Sikhosana had enlisted to recover his wife’s hacked cryptocurrency.
Feigning a threat, the kidnappers falsely claimed that Russians had been hired to assassinate the couple. Under this pretense, they coerced Sikhosana and his wife into their vehicle for purported further interrogation at Interpol Zimbabwe.
The kidnappers then drove the couple from Johannesburg, bypassing immigration procedures at the Beitbridge border. Once in Beitbridge, they handed over Sikhosana and his wife to Chademana at an Engen service station.
Identifying themselves as Interpol Harare detectives, Chademana and an accomplice allegedly confiscated Sikhosana’s cellphones and transported the couple to Harare, where they were housed at a lodge. The victims were warned not to inform anyone about their predicament.
Upon learning that a kidnapping report had been filed, Chademana forced Sikhosana to fabricate a story for his relatives, falsely claiming he had traveled to Zimbabwe voluntarily.
However, taking advantage of a moment when their captors were not present, Sikhosana and his wife managed to alert a relative about their abduction and provided their location, leading to Chademana’s arrest.
By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has been held accountable for the shooting of a civilian during the 2019 protests over fuel price hikes, leading to a successful lawsuit against the Defence Ministry.
Felix Mafondokoto, a resident of Chitungwiza, was awarded US$29,182 in compensation after being shot in the backside during the military’s crackdown on the protests. Mafondokoto, represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, filed a lawsuit against the Defence Minister and the army commander, seeking compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses, and loss of earnings.
Court documents reveal that Mafondokoto was accompanying a friend when soldiers indiscriminately attacked civilians, resulting in a soldier accidentally discharging a firearm and shooting Mafondokoto. Although the army denied being deployed on the day of the incident, the court ruled in Mafondokoto’s favor, holding the defendants vicariously liable for the negligent conduct of their officer.
The magistrate concluded that Mafondokoto suffered permanent injuries, including ongoing pain and a limited ability to work. Consequently, he was awarded compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, contumelia, and loss of earnings, totaling US$29,182.
The following is a statement that has been released by a ZANU PF party Facebook blogger following secret meetings CCC leader Welshman Ncube has had with ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa:
To Sustain Zimbabwe’s Developmental Momentum, the notion of suspending elections until 2030 is proposed, a measure designed to maintain the dynamic progress achieved under the leadership of the Second Republic. This bold strategy may raise eyebrows, yet it merits deep contemplation given its potential to enhance the nation’s long-term prosperity.
Under President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Second Republic has launched pivotal initiatives aimed at rejuvenating Zimbabwe’s economy and elevating the well-being of its people. From pioneering the Zimbabwe Gold currency to making significant advances in the lithium sector, these initiatives are catalyzing a palpable sense of optimism and tangible growth throughout the nation.
The role of political stability in nurturing and advancing these positive changes cannot be overstated. By deferring elections until 2030, the government can dedicate undivided attention and continuity to these transformative efforts, ensuring they fully materialize without the typical disturbances of frequent electoral cycles.
Critics might contend that halting elections temporarily contradicts principles of democratic governance. However, it is vital to juxtapose this concern with the imperative to consolidate and build upon the economic strides achieved. Setting a definitive pause on elections, coupled with a firm commitment to resuming democratic procedures by 2030, might just offer the crucial breathing room required for Zimbabwe’s development initiatives to root deeply and thrive.
As Zimbabwe strides towards a flourishing future, it becomes crucial to entertain and evaluate audacious ideas that place a premium on long-term development and stability. By carefully balancing the risks and rewards, Zimbabwe stands poised to make strategic decisions that will not only define its immediate future but also ensure its prosperity for generations to come. #Vision2030
By A Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s apparent demotion of Zanu PF commissar Mike Bimha to a regular politburo member has sparked speculation about a broader strategy to consolidate his power beyond 2028, sources claim.
On Monday evening, ruling party secretary-general Obert Mpofu announced the appointment of Munyaradzi Machacha, previously the principal at the Chitepo School of Ideology, as the new commissar. Additionally, Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda swapped roles with Patrick Chinamasa, who moved from treasurer general to secretary for legal affairs.
Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa and party information director Farai Marapira were unavailable for comment on the sudden reshuffling of the party’s top decision-making body.
Insiders suggest that Bimha was surprised by the move, learning of his new status only through the press statement. Some sources allege that Bimha fell out of favor with the President due to perceived shortcomings in his mobilization efforts and criticism of Mnangagwa’s political ambitions. Bimha’s alleged failure to organize Thank You rallies after the 2023 elections, which were viewed as crucial for consolidating Mnangagwa’s power beyond 2028, also contributed to his purported demotion.
Mudenda’s reported promotion may be tied to his rapid facilitation of the recall of opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators, aiding Zanu PF in securing a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
Chinamasa’s new role is speculated to involve drafting legislation aimed at extending Mnangagwa’s tenure beyond 2028. However, constitutional constraints pose a challenge, as Section 91(2) prohibits an incumbent president from seeking a third term.
Exiled former minister Walter Mzembi suggested that Mnangagwa’s reshuffle reflects his agenda for 2030. Reports also indicate that Zanu PF has been engaging in discussions with the CCC, led by Welshman Ncube, as part of Mnangagwa’s broader strategy.
Human rights advocate Aaron Hamauswa warned against amending the constitution to benefit the incumbent, emphasizing the threat such actions pose to democracy and the rule of law.
Since assuming power in 2017, Mnangagwa has frequently reshuffled his political commissars, highlighting the strategic importance of these positions in his administration’s plans.
By A Correspondent| Neville Mutsvangwa, the son of Zanu-PF stalwarts Monica and Christopher Mutsvangwa, will remain in custody for an additional five days as his bail hearing has been rescheduled to May 27.
Mutsvangwa, aged 44, was detained on charges related to forex trading and money laundering two weeks ago. Initially denied bail by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi, he appealed the decision at the High Court.
The ruling was slated for Wednesday; however, the Investigating Officer’s written account of the proceedings was absent from the case file, prompting a postponement.
Notably, several other individuals facing similar accusations have been granted bail. According to lawyer Moses Mapanga, three of his clients secured bail due to the absence of compelling reasons to detain them further.
By A Correspondent| The fraudulent activities of a notorious couple, Florence (née Behane) Pambukani and Felix Pambukani have ensnared more unsuspecting victims as additional home seekers have come forward with their harrowing accounts.
This follows an exposé detailing the Pambukanis’ illegal land sales in Harare, which has drawn widespread outrage and calls for justice.
The Pambukanis, previously convicted of defrauding Lonrho Zimbabwe and serving eight-year prison terms, have allegedly resumed their illicit operations at Crowhill Farm, posing as rightful landowners and duping desperate buyers. Despite a High Court order and a subsequent Supreme Court confirmation, barring them from selling the disputed property, the couple continues their deceitful practices.
Victims of this scam, frustrated and helpless, have turned to local media to voice their grievances and demand intervention. One such victim, preferring to remain anonymous, lamented, “We are tired of their tricks; we need our money back.”
The controversial property, Chirika Extension of Borrowdale Estate, is legally owned by Crowhill Private Limited and spans 121.4029 hectares. High Court Justice Webster Chinamora’s 2021 order, which mandated the eviction of all illegal occupants, remains unheeded as buyers, misled by the Pambukanis, resist eviction.
Crowhill Farm officials have made efforts to rectify the situation by inviting affected individuals to regularize their land status or face eviction. However, the Pambukanis’ ongoing activities have left many in financial ruin. A legal occupant of Crowhill Farm recounted their troubled history: “I know the Pambukanis after they were convicted of fraud… After their release, they came to Acorn Farm desperately seeking a stand, and we assisted them.”
The resident elaborated on their fraudulent methods, noting Florence’s failed attempt to infiltrate the Acorn Farm leadership and subsequent secret formation of the Acorn Township Developing Association for financial gain. “The Pambukanis own a mere stand, a tiny fraction of Cleverhill Estate, far from where they are selling and leasing to unsuspecting individuals. Their rightful stand, number 720, is clearly marked on the map,” he added.
Attempts to reach the Pambukanis for comment were unsuccessful as their phones remained unreachable at the time of publication.
This isn’t the first instance of the Pambukanis’ unscrupulous behavior. They have a history of claiming connections to senior government officials and have previously evicted farmers from their land. Last year, they reportedly hired armed thugs to attack workers at Wakefield Farm in the Selous Area 5, leading to severe injuries and the displacement of 35 families. In 2008, their illegal takeover of Scotsdale Farm culminated in the tragic death of the rightful owner, Kobus Joubert, in 2010.
The victims and the public are now urging the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission to take decisive action against the Pambukanis. The local publication that first uncovered this scandal has called for a thorough investigation to bring justice to the affected home seekers and prevent further fraudulent activities.

By A Correspondent – Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is constructing a law school in Kwekwe, it has emerged.
This development was revealed by a source from the ruling Zanu PF party.
The initiative has been highlighted on the Zanu PF Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, which shared the progress being made on the project.
“The construction of the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Law School in #Kwekwe is going super smoothly,” the post stated.
The announcement has been met with a cacophony of reactions, as it underscores the government’s focus on enhancing educational infrastructure.
The Facebook post further elaborated on the broader significance of the project, noting, “It’s amazing to see how our government is putting in efforts to capacitate institutions and help us achieve our #Vision2030.”
Vision 2030 is Mnangagwa’s ambitious plan to transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy by the year 2030.
Some critics argue Mnangagwa is using the vision 2030 maxim to circumvent constitutional principles and stay in power.
The new law school in Kwekwe is expected to provide state-of-the-art facilities and a curriculum designed to meet international standards.
It is anticipated that this institution will play a crucial role in advancing the rule of law and fostering legal expertise in Zimbabwe.
“As the law school nears completion, it is poised to become a cornerstone of legal education in the region,” a Zanu PF source claimed.
The Zanu PF leader’s efforts have been praised by supporters who view the law school as a positive step towards achieving national development goals.
However, critics may scrutinize the initiative, questioning the allocation of resources and the broader implications for the country’s educational landscape.
South Africa’s Electoral Commission Assures Election Security, Deems Rigging “Impossible”
Midrand, South Africa | The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has declared that it will be nearly impossible for anyone to rig the upcoming elections on May 29. IEC board chairperson Mosotho Moepya emphasized the robustness of the security measures in place during the inauguration of the National Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Midrand.
“We have systematically evaluated our processes to ensure there are no vulnerabilities. If we find any potential loopholes, our goal is to close them immediately,” Moepya stated at the event, which was attended by representatives from hundreds of political parties, over a thousand journalists, and numerous international observers.
The ROC, now situated at the Gallagher Estate after the previous venue was deemed unusable, will serve as the central hub for monitoring the electoral process. Here, all votes will be tallied and results communicated electronically, maintaining a transparent and secure flow of information.
In an exclusive interview with IOL, Moepya detailed some of the 30 security measures, including the voter management device (VMD). This device not only prevents fraudulent voting but also ensures that the IEC does not employ ghost workers by verifying the identities of the 273,000 election volunteers. “The VMD logs detailed data on each voter’s activities, such as the time and location of their vote, enhancing our ability to monitor the election closely,” Moepya explained.
IEC Chief Electoral Officer Masego Sheburi called on the 27 million registered voters to participate actively in the election, highlighting the commission’s readiness to reflect the people’s will accurately. “Our preparations and the commitment of our vast team of staff and volunteers ensure that we can deliver a free, fair, and credible election,” Sheburi remarked.
Commissioner Janet Love reflected on the journey the IEC has undertaken to reach this point, praising the transparent recruitment of staff and the exhaustive planning that has marked the electoral process. “We are geared up not just to conduct an election but to set a benchmark in electoral integrity and management,” Love stated.
With these extensive preparations and a firm commitment to transparency, the IEC aims to foster an environment of trust and integrity, ensuring that the electoral outcome truly reflects the democratic will of the South African populace.

By Political Reporter- The War Veterans League has met President Mnangagwa for the first time since its establishment two years ago.
The meeting at Zanu PF headquarters in Harare comes amid ongoing power struggles over succession between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
The war veterans, once an affiliate of the party, are now a fully-fledged wing of Zanu PF.
Zanu PF Secretary for War Veterans, Cde Douglas Mahiya, told reporters, “This one is the first one ever since the formation of the League in 2022.”

By Business Reporter- The government, through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), says it is in the process of applying for an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) code for the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency as it moves to make the unit a stand-alone currency.
ISO currency codes are three-letter alphabetic codes that represent various currencies used worldwide. These codes are essential for currency trading and international settlements.
When combined, they form the symbols and cross rates used in financial transactions. For instance, USD stands for the United States Dollar, EUR represents the Euro, and JPY denotes the Japanese Yen.
The ISO currency code for the defunct Zimbabwean dollar was ZWL.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Zimbabwe Economics Society in Harare on Tuesday, deputy RBZ governor Innocent Matshe said:
According to our economic strategy, we believed that the success of our currency, ZiG, would depend on a limited management system, maintaining a tight monetary policy stance, controlling money supply and creating demand for the domestic currency.
This would demonstrate policy consistency, build trust in ZiG and facilitate effective communication. Let me confirm that ZiG is indeed a standalone currency.
We are currently in the process of applying for an ISO code and we expect no deviation from our initial protection policies.
Matshe claimed that Zimbabwe’s economy has been growing despite exchange rate fluctuations and inflation. He said:
It is essential to have an affordable base currency. We cannot sustain a dual currency situation indefinitely. Zimbabwe’s economy has been growing despite past instabilities, including currency fluctuations, exchange rates and inflation. However, we need to address these issues.
Matshe also pointed out that it was critical to include all sectors in currency reform, including those outside the traditional financial and banking sectors. He said:
The introduction of ZiG aimed to end the instability and create a standardised currency. Without robust reforms, our economy would not have grown significantly.
We need a framework that harnesses the potential of all sectors, including those outside the traditional financial and banking sectors.
Inclusivity is crucial and we must understand that digital finance is essential for a 21st-century economy.
We have made progress in electronic financial activities, but we need to think seriously about digitalisation.
Certainty and stability in times of crisis allow for long-term planning and investment, which is key to industrialisation.

Mnangagwa is reviving the youth training program that Zanu PF had abandoned for the last two decades after previously using recruits to intimidate MDC supporters.
The program was first launched in 1980 by the country’s first Youth Minister, Earnest Kadungure.
Kadungure also deployed this militia group in the Matabeleland and Midlands provinces, where it worked with the military to kill more than 20,000 people of the Ndebele ethnic group during the Gukurahundi.
Information Minister Jenfan Muswere confirmed the relaunch of the Zanu PF militia, now rebranded as the Youth Service in Zimbabwe program.

By Political Reporter – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has returned urgently from China, where he had been for a routine medical check-up.
Chiwenga’s return follows a reshuffling of the Zanu PF politburo by President Mnangagwa on Monday during his absence.

Sources at Munhumutapa told ZimEye that Chiwenga rushed back from China early this week after learning about the politburo reshuffle, which was carried out without his knowledge.
“The Vice President is aware of this plot to paralyse him and is working on counter-tactics. You know he is a trained soldier and a strategist,” said the sources.
Soon after his return, Chiwenga did not rest and rushed to his office for a closed-door meeting with SADC Executive Secretary Mr. Elias Magosi.
Mr. Magosi is in the country to check on Zimbabwe’s preparedness to host the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit in Harare in August, where President Mnangagwa will assume the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

By Dr Raymond Chamba | It is difficult, nearly impossible, for any local leader to truly have a heart for Zimbabwe if they are not Zimbabwean. This is simply a fact. One must harbor a deep disdain for the people to pull off this feat of committed, sustained, structured repression.
All these great and elegant debates on policymaking are a mockery to the ordinary person and meaningless when you realize and understand the satanic indifference of our leaders to the material circumstances of the common Farai/Farisai. It takes a certain inhumanity to properly consider the man-made, accelerated, and continued destruction of our once-beautiful country to the benefit of committed looters, political plotters, and occultists.
All I prophesy is that the next change of government won’t be a pleasant TV drama affair, with old folks being cajoled to sign certain legal papers on power transfer.
There is no easy slumber nor safe sanctuary for the wicked and current Vandals, as much as they publicly wax lyrical nonchalantly and exude an attitude of control and confidence. Political karma is locked, loaded, laser-beamed, and fast ranging for their heads.
The perpetuation and hyper-acceleration of intransigence point to only one thing: the final countdown and reckoning. We are not headed for Venus.
Only Methodists could capture, sing, and guide this understanding most poignantly and accordingly with “muchazowepi kana tsuri yorira…” they would remind and challenge the soul.
Zimbabwe, cry no more. Zimbabwe, nyarara mwanawe. Zimbabwe, usaore moyo saNeria. Zimbabwe, God sees, understands, and hears your pain. Hush, Zimbabwe, hush, push…
