Zuma Takes On Ramaphosa In ANC Presidential Contest

By-South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa will face the wife of former President Jacob Zuma, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, in the December African National Congress Presidential contest.

A few weeks ago, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma’s youngest daughter, Thuthukile Zuma, started posting social media posters of her mother’s bid for the ANC’s top job, according to the Daily Maverick

The posters announced Dlamini Zuma’s campaign ahead of its confirmation in the Sunday Times on 11 September. In 2017, Dlamini Zuma was narrowly beaten to the position of ANC president by just 179 votes by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Dlamini Zuma confirmed to the Sunday Times, via her spokesperson Lungi Mtshali, that she has been nominated for the position by ANC branches and is available to accept. That means it is game on in the ANC race for the presidency in December as the nomination window opened this week.

It is unknown whether Dlamini Zuma will run as the RET-faction candidate or whether she will put distance between it and her agenda, which is to fight on a “Womandla” or woman’s ticket.

For more than 100 years, the ANC has never had a female leader, and the lobby to accelerate women’s leadership is growing. But the RET faction does not have a credible leader to run against Ramaphosa in December and may put its weight behind her.

Analysts believe that Ramaphosa has been weakened by the 2020 Phala Phala theft of game sale funds from a sofa they had been sewn into at his farm. It now turns out that the cash was hidden at the farm for much longer than the single weekend Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya first claimed in June.

Dlamini Zuma is popular in the ANC but not outside it especially considering her strong hand approach to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

UZ Fees Demo Huge Success As Authorities Announce Revision Plan

The University of Zimbabwe is revising the recently announced hike in tuition fees of up to $500 000, described by many students as unaffordable and beyond the reach of their parents and guardians.

At the same time student leaders want to have the matter dealt with in negotiations between the administration and the students, without interference by those with a political agenda.

Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo said the university was seized with that matter and urged students to remain calm as the administration is seeking to reach a common ground with the student representative body and other key stakeholders.

In an interview with The Herald, Professor Mapfumo yesterday said the university registrar had two closed door meetings with the Student Representative Council and they were looking forward to having another round of discussions today.

“We are engaging key stakeholders including the Student’s Representative Council. It is feedback that we value. The registrar had two meetings today and we are expecting to have a round up meeting tomorrow,” Professor Mapfumo said.

SRC president Allan Chipoyi yesterday urged students who had gathered to protest to leave room for a dialogue.

Yesterday, hundreds of University of Zimbabwe students briefly held a procession over the fees hike and some raised concern over some rogue elements within the opposition who want to use the recent fees hike for cheap politicking.

“We are appealing to the university Vice Chancellor to reconsider their first position.

“The current tuition fee is not in tandem with the prevailing economic conditions.

“However, we are very much concerned with some politicians who want to hijack the school fees issues. We don’t want any interference. More often than not our genuine concerns end up being rendered useless because of too much politicisation,” Dean Mushawatu, a tourism student said.

Another student, Simbarashe Mukoyi, said the increase was reasonable as it is meant to uphold the quality of the education, but called upon the Government to subsidise fees to cushion students against high inflation.

“Yes it was imminent due to rising costs, We were expecting a slight increase and the rest to be subsidised considering the current economic conditions. We sincerely seek Government intervention in this regard, otherwise the tertiary dropouts will be higher than never experienced before.”

Another student who preferred to be identified as Mutsa, a journalism student, said many students might fail to achieve their goals if the fees issue remained unresolved.

“We are scared that we won’t have the chance of fulfilling our dreams of graduating because our parents won’t afford to keep paying the fees. If tertiary fees keep rising like this then who will go to university?”

Another girl who requested anonymity said she was even afraid to tell her mother who is struggling to raise her accommodation fee.

“My mom is a single mother. I did not even inform her about the new development.

“I am just hoping that the university will review downwards so that it becomes affordable,” she said.

The Zimbabwe Congress of Student Union UZ chapter also issued a statement encouraging students to shun calls being made by individuals who are pushing their own agenda.

“We encourage students to remain calm as the union is working tirelessly negotiating and engaging relevant offices for fees review. Students should not be involved in demonstrations which are being influenced by opposition leadership and individuals pushing their agenda.”

According to the new fee structure, undergraduate students are required to pay anything between $300 000 to $500 000 depending on their faculty.

Students pursuing a Master’s degree will have to fork out up to $700 000 also depending on their faculty and students are expected to pay the fees by September 30. Herald

Ndiraya Refuses To Throw In Towel

Tonderai Ndiraya is not giving up on the Castle Lager Premiership title race after his Dynamos side dropped points against Black Rhinos on Sunday.

The second-placed Glamour Boys were held to a 1-1 draw and fell eight points behind leaders FC Platinum, who beat WhaWha 2-0.

DeMbare got off to the perfect start in the game when Ghanian forward Emmanuel Paga thrust them ahead inside the first minute.

Speaking to the reporters after the game, a defiant Ndiraya insisted that the title race is still on.

“The race is still on as there are still 21 points to play for,” the gaffer said. “We will take each game as it comes.”

Ndiraya added: “We dominated in the first half but were not that good in the second half. Rhinos added more attackers in the second half and it affected us.

Zanu PF Boss Suspended Over Violence

By- Zanu PF has reportedly suspended Buhera district co-ordinating committee (DCC) chairperson Cosmore Chimombe over intra-party violence that erupted in the district two weeks ago.

According to NewsDay the violence was recorded during the party’s district restructuring exercise to establish party cell structures in Chimombe East, Chimvuri and Chiremwa.

The party’s national political commissar Mike Bimha had assigned Mashonaland East provincial members to restructure the three districts of Buhera.

However, violence flared and the provincial members were forced to flee for their lives. A report to Bimha seen

Reads the report:

After you (Bimha) assigned us on a restructuring exercise, we failed to complete the assignment since the party leadership of the area did not accommodate us. Instead, they instigated violence.

The leader present was DCC chairperson Chimombe among others. As we arrived there were more than 30 people at the party offices. Unfortunately, the co-ordinator on the day had not yet arrived. He later arrived with one Mutero and proceeded without even greeting us, although he noticed that we were visitors.

When we wanted to address the meeting, unfortunately no one wanted to listen to us and they started to sing. The mob became more violent, threatening to beat us since it was in possession of weapons.

We expected the chairman to control the mob but instead, violent threats increased. We managed to escape through the window with the mob in hot pursuit.

Insiders in the ruling party yesterday said Chimombe has since been suspended over the violence.

Both Chimombe and the party’s provincial chairman Mike Madiro refused to comment on the matter.

Ramaphosa Faces Tough Presidential Contest

PYCD Establishes Free Counselling Centres In Chipinge

By James Gwati- A Chipinge-based grassroots and youth empowerment lobby organization, Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust has introduced a free counselling centre at Checheche growth point in Chipinge.

The organization’s director Claris Madhuku said this was a response to the alarming statistics of young people committing suicide in Chipenge.

He said as an organization; they saw it prudent to help the local community with this essential service so that they save lives.

Below is Madhuku’s statement on this development, which he issued with their World Suicide Prevention day message.

PYCD STATEMENT

This day which has been honoured yearly on the 10th of September since 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention in collaboration with the World Health Organisation, is essential and the right prescription for suicide awareness raising.

This day typically stretches to the 10th of October, which is World Mental Health Day, providing an opportunity for governments and civil society organizations to proactively discuss and propose various measures to prevent people from dying by suicide.
According to World Health Day, more than 700 000 people die yearly from suicide.
Research has confirmed that 77 per cent of those dying of suicide four are found in low and middle-income countries. The theme for this year 2022 is, Creating Hope through Action!
PYCD believes that reducing suicide is a vital public health consideration that must be prioritized to prevent untimely death and serve the millions of people experiencing intense grief due to the loss of their loved ones who would have succumbed to suicide.
As a grassroots-based organization operating in the rural areas of Manicaland, PYCD has recorded an increasing number of suicide cases of at least one person every week since the outbreak of Covid -19 in 2020.
These are very alarming statistics that PYCD is dedicated to reducing.
In Chipinge, suicide is among the four topmost causes of mortality among young people below the age of 35 years.
The causes have been linked to socio-economic challenges, some associated with improper marriages and infidelity.
PYCD has also recorded the absence and lack of sustainable institutions that provide psycho-social support and mental health.
In addressing these identified challenges, PYCD has since responded by institutionalizing basic counselling at the PYCD Centre in Checheche through a Drop-In facility.
The public in and around Checheche in Chipinge, has had an opportunity to visit the PYCD Centre and receive counselling and coping strategies that are being offered daily by a team of experienced and certified community actors who are part of the PYCD structure.

These concerns come after Zanu PF has put the opposition CCC leader under tight surveillance to assassinate him.

Luckily the detonating petrol bomb missed the youthful opposition party leader’s car.

This is not the first time attempts to kill Chamisa have been advanced by Zanu PF.

Early this year, similar attempts happened in Mutare and Masvingo, respectively.

Los Blancos Bury Mallorca

Real Madrid were far from perfect at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, but Los Blancos were propelled to victory by moments of individual brilliance, beating Mallorca 4-1 thanks to glittering moments from Federico Valverde, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo.

While Mallorca striker Muriqui converted Lee Kang-In’s free-kick just past the half-hour to shock the La Liga leaders, Valverde’s stunner just before halftime levelled the score at the break and provided some respite from an otherwise drab first half. Then, after the interval, the pair of Brazilian youngsters took command of the match.

The two combined to put Carlo Ancelotti’s side in front, with Rodrygo weaving through the Mallorca midfield and laying on Vinicius for the finish in the 72nd minute.

Rodrygo would get a goal of his own, an absolutely stunning display of individual skill to carve open the Mallorca defense and deposit the ball past a helpless Pedrag Radjkovic.

The introduction of Luka Modric on the hour mark was critical to the match as well, as Dani Ceballos was a hard worker after earning the start, but just doesn’t provide the same combination of on-ball calm and incisive passing.

Antonio Rudiger completed the scoring from Toni Kroos’ stoppage-time set piece.- The Sporting News

Historic POTRAZ- ZOCC Workshop On The Cards

By A Correspondent- All roads will this week lead to Kadoma for the inaugural Postal Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) and the Zimbabwe Online Content Creators (ZOCC) workshop.

The workshop will run from the 15th to the 16th of September 2022.

The organizers of this important event have roped in more than sixty (60) top online content creators drawn from the country’s 10 provinces.

The two day workshop to be addressed by the guest of honour, who is also the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Dr. Jenfan Muswere seeks to find lasting solutions around content creation in Zimbabwe.

The Postal and Telecommunications regulator will have time to engage with the Zimbabwe Online Content Creators on various issues that include the challenges faced by online content creators and best ways to leverage on already established postal infrastructure to increase reach and national inclusivity.

The workshop is also set to look into the operating environment for online players amidst the cyber security bill and how best government and online players can co-exist.

However, the main objective of this symposium is to produce a quality online content creator who is able to generate content for various consumers around Zimbabwe and beyond.

ZOCC chairperson Mr Toneo Rutsito said that he was optimistic that this workshop will not be another chat session, but a strategic engagement to jumpstart the online content creation sector.

“I’m so excited about the upcoming event, we have the support of Potraz director general Dr Gift Kalisto Machengete, who has content creation at heart, in His Geneva speech he pledged to see how best he can assist us to professionalise, capacitate and empower all the young content creators, to me this is fundemental, this is not your usual talk away workshop” said Toneo.

He added that they were excited to have a Potraz Director General who is passionate about content creation and seeing the youths propelling to the next level.

Apparently, Dr Machengete is spearheading various programs aimed at capacitating young digital players through innovation drives.

Toneo further said he is confident that this relationship will lead to long term benefits, particularly his ambitious vision towards the creation of a ZOCC hub, a physical structure that will cater for all online players who can not afford an office while also helping students to kickstart their industrial attachment in an already financially difficult environment.

The Online Content Creators will also be accorded with opportunities and responsibilities to dedicate focus on specific sectors around their communities and marginalized peripheries.

Mvula Blunder Costs DeMbare Maximum Points

Dynamos goalkeeper Tymon Mvula conceded a late own goal as the Harare’s giants lost further ground in the title race, following a 1-1 draw with Black Rhinos at Vengere Stadium today.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s charges needed to dehorn Rhinos to keep the pressure on log leaders FC Platinum, who beat WhaWha 2-1 at Ascot Stadium yesterday.

DeMbare got off to the perfect start when Ghanian forward Emmanuel Paga thrust them ahead after barely 60 seconds on the clock.

When it seemed Dynamos would head back to the capital with maximum points, Mvula conceded an own goal in stoppage time.

The Harare giants are now eight points adrift of FC Platinum.

At Babourfields, Lynoth Chikuhwa scored a brace on either side of half time as Highlanders beat Triangle United 2-0.

Baltemar Brito’s charges have now won three games on the bounce and are serious contenders for a top four finish.

At the National Sports Stadium, struggling CAPS United’s woes continue after they were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Tenax.

Lloyd Chitembwe’s men have not won any of their last three matches and being in the relegation matrix might turn out to be a huge possibility.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

World Suicide Prevention Day

World Suicide Prevention Day:

An estimated 703,000 people a year take their life around the world.
For every suicide, there are likely 20 other people making a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide.

We can all play a role in supporting those experiencing a suicidal crisis or those bereaved by suicide.

We can all encourage understanding about the issue, Let’s create hope through action.- World Health Organization

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on 10 September every year as we raise awareness of suicide and promote preventative measures to reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts.

Check some of these reminders of how we can offer help:

Reach In: Give Hope to Someone by Showing that you care. We all can reach in and ask somebody. Small talk can save lives and create a sense of connection and hope in somebody who may be struggling.

Encourage Understanding: Promote hope to create a more compassionate society. Recognize the reality of suicide and do something to prevent it so that more people will feel more comfortable in coming forward to seek help.

Share Experiences: The insights and stories of people with a lived experience of suicide can be extremely powerful in helping others understand suicide better and encourage people to reach in to support someone, and for individuals to reach out for help themselves.

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF wants to cause social unrest in the country and justify the postponement of elections.

This was said by CCC Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma.

According to Chuma, the bomb attack indicates Zanu PF is afraid of losing the 2023 polls.

“Continued attempts on President @nelsonchamisa’s life by ZANU PF misfits is a cause for concern.

Chinhoyi was a 3rd time within a month. They want to cause social unrest.

Dairiboard Employee Commits Suicide At Company Premises

Harare- A Harare man employed by Dairiboard as a boilermaker committed suicide at the company premises along Simon Mazorodze road Monday morning.

The man is only identified as Makore and his lifeless body was found hanging in the warehouse.

Sources told Express Mail Zim that he had problems both at home and at work.

“He had issues both at home and at work and he has been complaining daily but we did not think it would come to this,” said a workmate who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The development comes barely two days after the commemoration of World Anti Suicide day .

Lately, the rate of suicides among male citizens in Zimbabwe has been on the rise owing to mental health challenges and deteorating economy.

“Most men harbour their problems and choose not to share trying to be macho.

“Society has painted this picture that potray men who cry as weak and this has triggered suicides.

“The state of the economy is also a factor as most men are  struggling  to provide for their families causing depression,” opined Rita Chinhengo a social work student at a local university.

Masimirembwa Leaves Meeting In A Hasty As Housing Cooperative Members Bay For His Blood

By A Correspondent| Zanu PF chairperson for Harare Goodwills Masimirembwa had to leave in a hasty on Sunday after unsuccessfully tried to address members of the Mukuvisi Takashinga Housing Cooperative who are bitter with him over his involvement in the allocation of stands in Msasa Park.

The residents accuse the veteran politicians of not acting in good faith when dealing with the company that availed land to them.

The residents allege that unscrupulous people were taking advantage of their plight and taking money on their behalf which has not reached the owner of the land.

“Honestly, you are not welcome here. We want to deal directly with the owner of the land. We are tired of empty promises. We have strong reasons and belief that he is double dipping,” said an infuriated resident.

The residents said the company Msasa Park Pvt Limited wrote to them an offer letter in 2012 before revoking it after being infuriated by the conduct of people like Masimirembwa.

“I wish to advise you as follows that the company generally agrees to offer to Zanu PF Mukuvisi Takashinga District the undeveloped stand situate in the peripheral area of Msasa Park on terms and conditions agreed and that the offer of the said undeveloped stand is subject to a clear survey of the stand as appears on the general diagram,” reads the letter.

Masimirembwa said he was in the meeting when contacted for comment.

“I have been helping the people and I will continue to help them because it is my mandate. However, I cannot say much because I am in a meeting,” he said.

However, Zanu PF through Masimirembwa has written a letter distancing itself from members who have taken the case to the High Court.

“Zanu PF Harare Province is involved in the positive discussions with Msasa Park Pvt LtD to ensure regularisation of the illegal settlement established by heartless illegal land barons. No evictions have taken place since 2013 despite the land owner having the right to do,” reads the letter.

Sikandar Raza Makes History, Voted ICC Men’s Player Of The Month For August

The 36-year-old Zimbabwe National Cricket Team batting all-rounder Sikandar Raza has created history by becoming the ICC Men’s Player of the Month For August 2022 as he is the first player from the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team to win the award.

In August 2022, the batting all-rounder of the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team smashed three ODI centuries that helped him beat New Zealand National Cricket Team all-rounder Mitchell Santner and England National Cricket Team captain Ben Stokes to claim the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August.

Out of Sikandar Raza’s three ODI centuries in August, two came against Bangladesh National Cricket Team and one came against India National Cricket Team.

He smashed unbeaten 135 runs off 109 balls in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh at the start of the month to help Zimbabwe seal the win in the first match.

In the second match, Raza once again showed his batting masterclass when Zimbabwe were in trouble and smashed 117* off 127 balls to help Zimbabwe win the match and get an unassailable lead in the series. Also, with the ball, he was very impressive in the series against Bangladesh.

His third century came against India National Cricket Team as he scored 115 runs off 95 balls in the third ODI, but he was unable to help his side win the match.

After winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, Raza said that he is “humbled and honoured” to become the first Zimbabwe player to bag the award.

“I’m incredibly humbled and honoured to have won the player of the month award from the ICC – more humbling that I’m the first Zimbabwean to ever win such an award,” Raza said.

“I would like to thank everybody who has been in the changeroom with me over the past three to four months – that goes out to the technical staff and to the players. Without you guys, this would not have been possible.

“Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans in Zimbabwe and overseas for all your prayers, for all your wishes…they were well received and I’m forever grateful.”

RE : APPOINTMENT OF FREDDY MICHAEL MASARIREVU AS MY FAMILY AND PERSONAL SPOKESPERSON
After my arrest and incarceration since the night of the 14th of June 2022 up to present, I have noticed the following;

  1. That thousands of concerned people throughout the world have been phoning my wife, children and family members inquiring about my wellbeing.

I have noticed with grave concern the serious signs of depression my wife and children are going through.
I realized that the depression my wife is going through has been occasioned by her assumption of some huge responsibilities of taking care of our young family by herself.

I thought it is wise to appoint someone who will give you updates promptly at every term and all information concerning myself. Your huge love cannot be unattended.

  1. That there is dearth of information of what is really happening around my person behind these walls of Chikurubhi Maximum Security Prison.
  2. That the people of Zimbabwe and greater world audience are not being informed about my true personal position and opinion on several issues of political development.

This is the responsibility that I have bestowed upon the shoulders of this young brilliant mind knowing well his ability to withstand pressure and the depth of his finest brains.

Any need for inquiries concerning myself should be directed to him.

Zim Immigrant Beaten To Death In Limpopo Phophi Ramathuba’s Province

A Zimbabwean immigrant accused of rap_ing a middle-aged woman from Matangari village in Limpopo province was recently beaten to death by an angry crowd, it has emerged.

The tragic incident occurred earlier this month and, a week later, the mob burnt down the house where the Zimbabwean lived, accusing the owner of harbouring illegal immigrants.

The now-deceased suspect, who has yet to be named, reportedly broke into the victim’s house at night with an accomplice.

According to Matangari village’s traditional leader, Vhamusanda Vho–Mutulagole Nyamande, the victim said one of the men had ransacked her house while the other one rap_ed her.

“After she had opened a case, the police brought her to my palace, where she detailed her ordeal. She said she knew the Zimbabwean as he had been living in the village for years,” Nyamande said.

When the villagers heard about the incident the following morning, they ran amok, blocking roads with rocks and burning tyres and other flammable objects.

Nyamande said he had to calm the angry crowd down, pleading with them not to take the law into their own hands, but rather to help the police with their investigation.

The following day, the community had a meeting at the royal palace and decided to go and look for the suspects themselves.

According to one Norman Siebathavha, secretary of the Matangari Traditional Council, some community members saw the suspect that same afternoon hiding close to a nearby the river.

“When he saw the villagers, he ran and jumped into the river. After searching for him for some time, they found him hiding inside the reeds. They fished him out and took him to the royal palace, and the traditional leader called the police,” he said.

However, while they were waiting for the police to arrive, the angry crowd started to interrogate the suspect, beating him with different objects, and he succumbed to his injuries.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police at Mutale were investigating two cases – one of rap_e and one of murder.

“We haven’t effected any arrests yet. Police investigations continue,” he said.

Meanwhile, after attending a meeting with their traditional leader and the royal council last Tuesday afternoon, the Matangari villagers – armed with sticks and stones – reportedly marched to the house of a 55-year-old local man and burnt it to the ground.

The now-deceased Zimbabwean had been a tenant at the house and the mob accused the home owner of harbouring illegal immigrants.

When they arrived at his house, they started by breaking the windows before setting the house on fire.

The man’s 13-year-old son, who was coming home at the time of the incident, said he was surprised to see such a huge crowd descending on the family home

“It was terrifying. I just stood there and saw our whole house being engulfed by fire. I lost all my clothes, including books and school uniform. I also saw some members of the community stealing live chickens,” he said.

The owner of the house said he was also in shock.

“All I can say is that all I have worked for in my life is gone,” he said.

Community members who witnessed the event said police had been informed of the crowd’s intentions to burn down the house but had done nothing.

Matinyarare Duped Wode Maya USD3K?

By Dorothy Moyo | ZANU PF activist Rutendo Matinyarare has responded to allegations that he duped YouTuber, Wode Maya, a USD3,000 lumpsum.

The incident reportedly happened during Wode Maya’s recent visit to Zimbabwe where he recorded a series of promotional videos for the ZANU PF controlled government.

“You stole from Wode Maya, return his USD3,000,” wrote Kuda Chihuri, to which Matinyarare did not deny the existence of a dispute with Maya. He replied by asking, “how much do you think it would cost to travel 3000km in 12 days in this level of luxury with a person like me putting my business aside to drive?

“How much would it cost to hire the same car and pay fuel and extra mileage?”

Matinyarare did not demonstrate any interest to settle with Wode Maya on the dispute.

Chamisa And ED Lack Legitimacy, Says Opposition Leader

Opposition FreeZim Congress leader and business tycoon, Joseph Busha has fired shots at President Emmerson Mnangagwa and CCC leader Nelson Chamisa for perceived lack of legitimacy as he announced his bid to run for president in national elections next year.

Speaking at a Zimbabwe National Editors Forum (ZINEF) organised interface with journalists in Harare Friday, the 58-year-old politician, pledged to restore economic prosperity if elected president, adding, he is going to whittle down the country’s cabinet to a lean 12 ministers.

He declared his bid to become “Zimbabwe’s second democratically elected president” while disdainfully dismissing Mnangagwa and Chamisa as coup beneficiaries.

“Advocate Chamisa was not democratically elected to be president of MDC; right now he is in tripple C, it was Thokozani Khupe (who should have been party president).

“He manipulated the process to become the MDC leader.

“President Mnangagwa was not democratically elected to be president of Zimbabwe because he used the constitution and manipulated the parliamentary process to recall or to get Mugabe resign because the late President Mugabe asked for, to say let’s go to congress and you can beat me and they refused because some of them were cowards.

“So the process to get there was not democratic, then it was validated by elections in 2018,” he said.

Busha did not spare fellow opposition politicians he contested in the 2018 presidential elections and now coalesce under Mnangagwa’s scorned POLAD.

He dismissed them as a bunch of opposition leaders who were merely concerned about lining their pockets through Mnangagwa’s freebies.

The opposition politician said Zimbabwe deserved leaders who understood the country’s rich natural endowment and have the wherewithal to leverage spur prosperity and give the troubled country competitive edge over competing world economies.

Busha blasted Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube for “cramming” the textbook on economics while remaining clueless on how to administer his knowledge to rescue a faltering economy.

He pledged to provide the much-needed pragmatic leadership the country was yearning for.

“We are not looking for academics anymore, we are looking for people who understand the structure of the economy, we are looking for people who have walked the path, people who understand the people right at the bottom; not people who best are going to read the textbook they never wrote or their grandfathers never wrote and managed to cram it.

“We are looking for practical people.

“I believe in this country right now until somebody comes up and I want everybody to raise their hands, I am the most qualified Presidential candidate for Zimbabwe in 2023,” he said.

Busha was among the 23 presidential candidates in 2018 the majority of whom failed to garner meaningful votes.

He said he has found the formula to turn his election fortunes around.

You Are Not Fidel Castro, ARTUZ Reminds Mnangagwa

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union Of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has scoffed at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s outfit at the War Veterans League conference saying he was imitating late Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

ARTUZ said if Mnangagwa wants to imitate Castro, he should also consider making education in Zimbabwe free like Cuba did.

“President @edmnangagwa you can’t be smiling while sons and daughters of the working class are on the verge of dropping out of University because of exorbitant fees. We see you imitating Castro, not a bad idea, but in Cuba there is free education. Why don’t you just copy that too?,” said ARTUZ while posting on Twitter.

CCC Speaks On Failed Chamisa Assassination Attempt

By James Gwati- The opposition CCC has issued a statement describing how Zanu PF thugs attempted to kill Nelson Chamisa in Chinhoyi on Sunday.

Zanu PF thugs threw a petrol bomb at the opposition party leader’s convoy when he approached the party’s thank you rally venue in Gadzema.

Luckily the detonating petrol bomb missed the youthful opposition party’s car.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere immediately issued a statement narrating what happened.

Below is her statement:

Today (Sunday), the CCC held a rally at Gadzema Grounds in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province which
was graced by a bumper crowd of citizens. As the motorcade of our Change Champion in Chief,
Adv Nelson Chamisa, approached the entrance of the venue, a silver sedan vehicle AFA 1651 sped
past and threw explosives at the convoy. This incident happened hours after petrol bombs had been
thrown at the venue last night as our advance team was setting up for today’s gathering. We
condemn this cowardly act.
This latest assassination attempt comes barely a month after two similar threats on the life of Adv
Chamisa in Wedza and Gokwe Kabuyuni respectively. The attack follows death threats against Adv
Chamisa and the CCC by Zanu PF leaders including Aton Mashayanyika whose incitement to
violence was caught on camera but no arrests have taken place.
After the detonation of the explosives, the security team immediately intensified security at all entry
points of the venue to safeguard against a further security breach inside the venue. The security
team further had to manage the panicked crowd which was trying to run to safety. In the midst of
this emergency response effort, a misunderstanding arose between journalist Ruvimbo Muchenje
and one of our security officers leading to a regrettable incident of assault. Our communications
team immediately stepped in to de-escalate the incident.
We have since approached Ruvimbo Muchenje directly to offer our unreserved apology for the
incident. She graciously accepted our apology. For the avoidance of doubt, we remain committed
to ensuring a free and safe environment for journalists who cover our events. Journalism is never a
crime. Lessons have been learnt from this Incident and we are improving our protocols to ensure
such an incident does not transpire in the future.
We thank the citizens of Chinhoyi for their overwhelming support at the recent by-elections and for
turning out in their thousands to attend our Thank You Rally this afternoon. Our Change Champion
in Chief delivered a message of hope and inspiration and emphasized the need for all citizens to
register to vote in their masses so that we win Zimbabwe for change in 2023.
Vote for change.

By- The opposition CCC security details have beaten up a NewsHawks journalist Ruvimbo Muchenje.

CCC Rising Popularity Troubles Zanu PF

Tinashe Sambiri| The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF regime is running scared as a result of CCC’s rising popularity.

According to CCC deputy spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, the Zanu PF regime is desperate to arrest the wave of change.

We are building the Mass democratic preject from below.

George Shire Comment On Queen Elizabeth’s Death

UK based academic Dr George Shire has written commenting on Queen Elizabeth’s death.

Shire suggests that there is nothing to celebrate on the late centurion’s life because of what he terms the unfinished business of colonialism. Shire who is a veteran of the war to liberate Rhodesia from white minority rule, has continued to defend the actions of the ZANU PF governmen, beginning with the land reclamation project.

He writes:

Colonialism left no stone unturned and those who produced, circulated and benefited from it can never be forgiven for the miseries it produced.

George Shire

We are mistaken in thinking that it was only to do with land, water, minerals, plants and everything else including our bodies. Zimbabwe and every other country on the planet that the British landed with the blessing of the monarchy experienced punitive punishments in the form of artworks and remains of our ancestors being stolen and brought back to Britain in the name of the monarchy. Today the remains of our ancestors who fought in the First Chimurenga are still languishing in British Museums, Universities and in private collections.

I have absolutely no recollection of the House of Windsor during the entirety of the Elizabethan Age (the period in the departed Queen Elizabeth was in reign) giving a nod in support of the campaign to return the remains of our ancestors or the many works of art stolen from our continent. The Elizabethan age has seen not the end of colonialism but it’s renewal through the rewesternisation of the same geographies that were once pink on the map of the world. I have nothing against Queen Elizabeth, the mother, grandmother, great grandmother of her family. My sincere condolences to her family. I was born just before the beginning of her reign.

I am of the same generation as Charles. My mother had she lived long would have been in 90s. I know what it feels like to lose a mother. My beef is with the unfinished business of colonialism which was instrumentalists by governments in her name and continues today and in which the royal family has maintained with their central role in racial capitalism and new forms colonialism.

Those that fail to notice the fingerprints of the British royal family as the fountainhead of colonialism and its afterlives are the victims of agnontology ( the philosophy of ignorance) and epistemicide.

Martial Slams Mourinho

Anthony Martial has lashed out at former Manchester United coaches Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho over their treatment towards him during their times at the club.

The Frenchman accused Mourinho of disrespect after forcing him to give his favoured No. 9 shirt to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The forward also fell out of favour following the arrival of the gaffer, leading to his exclusion from the France squad for 2018 World Cup.

Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford in 2016, a year after Martial’s signed with the club.

“It started with the shirt number thing,” the player told France Football. “During the holidays, he sent me a message asking me if I would change to No.11, explaining that it was great because it was the number of the legend Ryan Giggs. I told him that I had the greatest respect for Giggs but that I would prefer to keep my No. 9. And when I go back to the club, I see my No. 11 shirt, the story didn’t go well.

“He disrespected me, directly. He talked about me in the press, little phrases, a bit like he had done with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. In the [2017-18] season, I was the team’s top scorer in the first half of the season, he brought in Alexis Sanchez and then I didn’t play much. It was the World Cup season as well, and it cost me a lot at the end, especially as the French team won. I should have been there.”

Martial also slammed Solskjaer, who replaced Mourinho after his sacking.

The forward accused the Norwegian of being a traitor after he refused to defend his performances whilst playing with an injury.

He added: “People don’t know it, I couldn’t accelerate during the four months following the Covid season. The coach tells me he needs me, so I play. But, given my game, if I can’t accelerate, it becomes very complicated all the same. And I got set on fire [criticised by fans]… the coach never bothered to tell the media.

“I took it very badly, I had a feeling of injustice, you are asked to sacrifice yourself for the team and behind the scenes you are dismissed. For me, it’s almost treachery. That’s all I hate. I can be blamed, but not for being fake.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Bomb Attack Against Chamisa?

The CCC party reports that alleged Zanu Pf thugs threw a live bomb at party president Nelson Chamisa’s motorcade in Chinhoyi yesterday.

In a brief, the party says there was an attempt to kill its leader.

The report which could not be independently verified stated as follows: We have noted with great concern yet another assassination attempt on the life of our Change Champion in Chief, Advocate Nelson Chamisa after suspected members of Zanu PF driving a silver Honda Fit threw a missile at our Change Champion in Chief’s motorcade as he was was about to enter Gadzema grounds in Chinhoyi.

Our Change Champion in Chief was set to thank the citizens of Chinhoyi who overwhelmingly voted for the Yellow movement before the criminal activity by Zanu PF took place.

The thugs, driving a sliver Honda Fit threw a bomb that exploded in front of our Change Champion in Chief’s motorcade before they sped off.

This lawlessness which have been allowed to go unchecked by the regime in Harare was also meant to instill fear and panic among the citizens who had gathered to hear the message of hope & transformation from their change champion in chief.

This comes barely a month after two similar incidents which threatened the life of our change champion in chief took place in Wedza and Gokwe, Kabuyuni respectively.

We condemn this criminal behavior in its entirety and urge the law enforcement agency to take action and bring the culprits to book.

We want to put it on record that Zanu PF’s desperate behavior will not deter us from winning Zimbabwe for change. We will continue to fight and demand electoral reforms as we approach the 2023 elections.

We urge the citizens of Zimbabwe to remain focused and vigilant, and more importantly register to vote.

Man Rapes Own Daughter (17)

A 37-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb has been arrested on allegations of raping his 17-year-old daughter.

The man, who has not been named to protect the identity of the victim, reportedly raped his daughter on 6 September 2022 at around 1 PM when the two were alone at home.

Allegations are that the victim was at home cooking when his father came out of his bedroom, and grabbed her waist and carried her into his bedroom.

She reportedly screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue.

The father allegedly closed the bedroom door and raped her once and left the house.

He was, however, spotted leaving the bedroom by the victim’s cousin aged 11 who had just arrived home.

She then discovered that the victim was sobbing inside her father’s bedroom.

The cousin then went next door and informed their neighbour who came and asked the girl why she was crying.

The victim narrated the sexual abuse, and the neighbour called the child’s aunt and then accompanied the her to make a report to the police leading to the arrest of her father.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Bulawayo Province, Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and implored parents to protect their children instead of abusing them. He said:

It is disturbing that most cases of a sexual nature on juveniles are perpetrated by very close relatives. Parents must protect their children and not be the ones exposing them to abuse.

Members of the public are urged not to trust anyone. In this case a trusted biological father raped his daughter.

In an unrelated incident, police in Mbembesi arrested Andrew Jackson (50) for killing his daughter, Mary Jackson, aged five years, at Sojini Village, Mbembesi.

Police said Jackson onfessed that he took the minor from the mother and killed her before dumping the body along Harare-Bulawayo Road.

Man Brutally Kills Daughter (5)

A 37-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb has been arrested on allegations of raping his 17-year-old daughter.

The man, who has not been named to protect the identity of the victim, reportedly raped his daughter on 6 September 2022 at around 1 PM when the two were alone at home.

Allegations are that the victim was at home cooking when his father came out of his bedroom, and grabbed her waist and carried her into his bedroom.

She reportedly screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue.

The father allegedly closed the bedroom door and raped her once and left the house.

I Can Treat Nhova, Claims Apostolic Sect Member

A member of the Johanne Marange Apostolic sect says it is an offence for any of their members to receive medical treatment.

Dorcas Mhere (47), the senior wife of Clever Maveto, said they have been using holy water, salt and cooking oil to cure all her children when they fall ill since the early 1980s.

The Maveto family, from Bikita District in Masvingo Province, is accused of burying children in a mass grave after they allegedly succumbed to measles.

Reports claimed Maveto (67), a polygamist, buried his children, aged one, three and four years – as well as a 10-month-old toddler – under the cover of darkness after they allegedly succumbed to measles-related complications last month.

Maveto has, however, refuted the allegations saying he is prepared to let anyone exhume the bodies to see for themselves that there were no mass graves at his homestead.

Meanwhile, Mhere told H-Metro that she has never been to a hospital and depends on prayers and help from prophets. She said:

It is not allowed for one to seek medical attention. You just pray for whatever illness you’re facing or consult the prophet for help.

We only use holy water, cooking oil and salt, depending on the prophet’s instructions.

When a child is born, we perform a ritual to protect the baby from measles.

For other ailments, like a running stomach, we use fresh milk and Coca-Cola, to cleanse the body.

Real Mallorca Coach Speaks On Kadewere Injury

Real Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre has revealed that Tino Kadewere’s injury is more serious than expected and it’s not looking good for the Zimbabwean striker.

Kadewere suffered a rupture in the quadriceps of his right leg, a day before he was set to make his LaLiga debut against defending champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Aquirre admitted the injury is worse than initially thought and it’s hard to tell when exactly the lanky striker will be back.

“It’s a complete setback,” Aquirre told Madrid-based publication Marca.

“The training ended and he felt something strange. We did an MRI and it’s a bit more serious than expected. Now we have two options: a conservative recovery or a minimal intervention. I couldn’t talk about deadlines. We fought for him and it’s a shame,” he added.

The Highfield-raised striker is on loan from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon, who have been informed of the injury.

He is expected to be out for the rest of the year.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Martial Blasts Mourinho, Solskjaer

Young People And Health

Key facts

Over 1.5 million adolescents and young adults aged 10–24 years died in 2020, nearly 5000 every day.
Young adolescents aged 10–14 years have the lowest risk of death of all age groups.
Injuries (including road traffic injuries and drowning), violence, self-harm and maternal conditions are the leading causes of death among adolescents and young adults
Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.
Early onset of substance use is associated with higher risks of developing dependence and other problems during adult life, and people of younger ages are disproportionately affected by substance use compared with people of older ages.
Globally, there were 41 births per 1000 to girls aged 15–19 years in 2020.

Overview
Survival chances for adolescents and young adults vary greatly across the world. In 2020, the probability of dying among those aged 10–24 years was highest in sub-Saharan Africa, Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), northern Africa and southern Asia (1). The average global probability of a 10-year-old dying before age 24 was 6 times higher in sub-Saharan Africa than in North America and Europe.

Main health issues
Injuries
Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death and disability among adolescents. In 2019, nearly 100 000 adolescents (10–19 years) died as a result of road traffic accidents (2). Many of those who died were vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists or users of motorized two-wheelers. In many countries, road safety laws need to be made more comprehensive, and enforcement of such laws needs to be strengthened. Furthermore, young drivers need advice on driving safely, while laws that prohibit driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs need to be strictly enforced among all age groups. Blood alcohol levels should be set lower for young drivers than for adults. Graduated licences for novice drivers with zero-tolerance for drink-driving are recommended.

Drowning is also among the top causes of death among adolescents; more than 40 000 adolescents, over three quarters of them boys, are estimated to have drowned in 2019. Teaching children and adolescents to swim is an essential intervention to prevent these deaths.

Violence
Interpersonal violence is among the leading causes of death in adolescents and young people globally. Its prominence varies substantially by world region. It causes nearly a third of all adolescent male deaths in low- and middle-income countries in the WHO Region of the Americas. According to the global school-based student health survey 42% of adolescent boys and 37% of adolescent girls were exposed to bullying. Sexual violence also affects a significant proportion of youth: 1 in 8 young people report sexual abuse.

Violence during adolescence also increases the risks of injury, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, mental health problems, poor school performance and dropout, early pregnancy, reproductive health problems, and communicable and noncommunicable diseases.

Effective prevention and response strategies include promoting parenting and early childhood development; addressing school-based bullying prevention, programmes that develop life and social skills, and community approaches to reduce access to alcohol and firearms. Effective and empathetic care for adolescent survivors of violence, including ongoing support, can help with the physical and psychological consequences.

Mental health
Depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is the second leading cause of death in people aged 15–19 years (2). Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10–19 years. Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.

Many factors have an impact on the well-being and mental health of adolescents. Violence, poverty, stigma, exclusion, and living in humanitarian and fragile settings can increase the risk of developing mental health problems. The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.

Building socioemotional skills in children and adolescents and providing them with psychosocial support in schools and other community settings can help promote good mental health. Programmes to help strengthen the ties between adolescents and their families and improve quality of home environments are also important. If problems arise, they should be detected and timely managed by competent and caring health workers.

Adolescent mental health fact sheet

Alcohol and drug use
Drinking alcohol among adolescents is a major concern in many countries. It can reduce self-control and increase risky behaviours, such as unsafe sex or dangerous driving. It is an underlying cause of injuries (including those due to road traffic accidents), violence and premature deaths. It can also lead to health problems in later life and affects life expectancy. Worldwide, more than a quarter of all people aged 15–19 years are current drinkers, amounting to 155 million adolescents. Prevalence of heavy episodic drinking among adolescents aged 15–19 years was 13.6% in 2016, with males most at risk.

Cannabis is the most widely used psychoactive drug among young people with about 4.7% of people aged 15–16 years using it at least once in 2018. Alcohol and drug use in children and adolescents is associated with neurocognitive alterations which can lead to behavioural, emotional, social and academic problems in later life.

Prevention of alcohol and drug use are important areas of public health actions and may include population-based strategies and interventions, activities in school, community, family and on the individual level. Setting a minimum age for buying and consuming alcohol and eliminate marketing and advertising to minors are among the key strategies for reducing drinking among adolescents.

Tobacco use
The vast majority of people using tobacco today began doing so when they were adolescents. Prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors (under 18 years) and increasing the price of tobacco products through higher taxes, banning tobacco advertising and ensuring smoke-free environments are crucial. Globally, at least 1 in 10 adolescents aged 13–15 years uses tobacco, although there are areas where this figure is much higher.

HIV/AIDS
An estimated 1.7 million adolescents (age 10–19 years) were living with HIV in 2019 with around 90% in the WHO African Region (3). While there have been substantial declines in new infections amongst adolescents from a peak in 1994, adolescents still account for about 10% of new adult HIV infections, with three-quarters amongst adolescent girls (4). Additionally, while new infections may have fallen in many of the most severely affected countries, recent testing coverage remains low suggesting that many adolescents and young people living with HIV may not know their status (5).

Adolescents living with HIV have worse access to antiretroviral treatment, adherence to treatment, retention in care and viral suppression. A key factor contributing to these is limited provision of adolescent-friendly services including psychosocial interventions and support.

Adolescents and young people need to know how to protect themselves from HIV infection and must also have the means to do so. This includes being able to obtain access HIV prevention interventions including voluntary medical male circumcision, condoms and pre-exposure prophylaxis, better access to HIV testing and counselling, and stronger links to HIV treatment services for those who test HIV positive.

Other infectious diseases
Thanks to improved childhood vaccination, adolescent deaths and disability from measles have fallen markedly. For example, adolescent mortality from measles fell by 90% in the African Region between 2000 and 2012.

Diarrhoea and lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia) are estimated to be among the top 10 causes of death for adolescents 10–14 years. These two diseases, along with meningitis, are all among the top 5 causes of adolescent death in African low- and middle-income countries.

Infectious diseases like with human papilloma virus that normally occurs after onset of sexual activity can lead to both short-term disease (genital warts) during adolescence but more importantly also leads to cervical and other cancers several decades later. Early adolescence (9–14 years) is the optimal time for vaccination against HPV infection and it is estimated that if 90% of girls globally get the HPV vaccine more than 40 million lives could be saved over the next century. However, it is estimated that in 2019 only 15% of girls globally received the vaccine.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer fact sheet

Early pregnancy and childbirth
Approximately 12 million girls aged 15–19 years and at least 777 000 girls under 15 years give birth each year in developing regions. Complications from pregnancy and childbirth are among the leading causes of death for girls aged 15–19 years globally.

The UN Population Division puts the global adolescent birth rate in 2020 at 41 births per 1000 girls this age, and country rates range from 1 to over 200 births per 1000 girls (6). This indicates a marked decrease since 1990. This decrease is reflected in a similar decline in maternal mortality rates among girls aged 15–19 years.

One of the specific targets of the health Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) is that by 2030, the world should ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.

Adolescents need and have a right to comprehensive sexuality education, a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of sexuality. Better access to contraceptive information and services can reduce the number of girls becoming pregnant and giving birth at too young an age. Laws that are enforced that specify a minimum age of marriage at 18 can help.

Girls who do become pregnant need access to quality antenatal care. Where permitted by law, adolescents who opt to terminate their pregnancies should have access to safe abortion.

Reforms Will Come Through Dialogue Not Confrontation, Says Mwonzora

MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora on Wednesday said political and electoral reforms in the country will only come through dialogue, not confrontation.

Mwonzora said ZANU PF has a huge majority in Parliament, therefore, political parties should come to the negotiating table to discuss ways to move the country forward.

Addressing journalists at the Bulawayo Media Centre on Wednesday, Mwonzora said:

Our position as a party is that we cannot avoid dialogue in order to achieve key reforms.

The reality we have to live with is that ZANU PF enjoys a supermajority in Parliament, and they have been the majority since 2013.

If we are to go via dialogue, it means that we agree and what we would have agreed will then be processed through Parliament.

If we are to amend the Electoral Act, for example, we need to agree and cooperate with legislators from across the political spectrum.

Mwonzora said in the history of Zimbabwe, key political reforms have come through dialogue and he cited the Lancaster House agreement of 1979 which brought about the majority rule in the country and the 1987 Unity Accord which brought an end to Gukurahundi. He said:

This is what happened throughout the history of the country. In 1979, the issue of majority rule was a key political reform, and it came via dialogue.

The disturbances in Matabeleland after independence were stopped via dialogue which led to the signing of the Unity Accord between the warring parties.

People can argue about the content of the Unity Accord itself and whether one party won more than the other, but that is beside the point at this point and time.

The fact of the matter is that the Accord came via dialogue.

Mwonzora also cited the talks between ZANU PF and the two MDC formations facilitated by SADC in 2008 which culminated in the signing of the Global Political Agreement (GPA) and the formation of the Government of Unity (GNU) in 2009. | New Ziana

Ex CBZ Boss’ Mistress Slapped With US$100k Adultery Lawsuit

By A Correspondent- The claimed mistress of ex-CBZ Holdings chief executive officer Nyasha Makuvise has been slapped with a US$100,000 adultery claim by the banker’s estranged wife.

According to papers before the High Court, Makuvise has been living with lover, Tsuu Machingura, since 2019 when he left his matrimonial home.

At the the time, he reportedly told wife Clarieta Makuvise, nee Mbizi, that he was going to Dubai on a business trip.

Clarieta only established recently that her husband has been in Zimbabwe all along and living with Machingura who was a friend to the couple’s daughter.

Clarieta has since filed for divorce and asked the court to impose a caveat on their properties after noting that Makuvise was allegedly selling them without her consent.

The Court also heard that Makuvise lied to Clarieta that he had stage 4 cancer and deceived her “into selling some of their business immovable properties in the guise of raising money for his cancer treatment”.

Clarieta is demanding that Machingura pays US$40,000, being damages for loss of contumelia, injury, insult, embarrassment and indignity.

She also wants US$60 000 for loss of consortium, disruption of comfort society, loss of financial support and loss of society.

A full hearing on the case is pending.

According to Clarieta’s lawyers, Machingura “betrayed the trust of the plaintiff because, at all material times, she had known her only as a friend to the couple’s daughter.

only sometime in August 2022 that the plaintiff unearthed the truth of the adulterous affair between her husband and the defendant,” wrote Absolom Attorneys, representing Clarieta.

“Such deception and influence of adultery has led to the plaintiff’s husband concealing imperative business affairs of their matrimonial wealth.

“The disposed properties have been to fund the adulterous relationship’s luxurious trips and holidays.

“It has also led to the defendant being bought luxurious motor vehicles and living a luxurious life where herself and her family members have been spoilt to some of these holidays’ trips and expensive gadgets. In simple words, the defendant now enjoys the lifestyle that the Plaintiff used to enjoy prior to 2019.”

Clarieta said, as a result of the affair, she was deprived of a lifestyle she had become accustomed to.

“The plaintiff has lost consortium; particularly, there has been a disruption of the comfort, society, loss of financial support and loss of service from the Plaintiff’s husband.

“The plaintiff’s husband has neglected the plaintiff in all respects to an extent that he has no knowledge of how the plaintiff currently manages to take care of herself because he no longer provides the plaintiff with the lifestyle she was accustomed to and he has blocked the plaintiff outside all of her assets and investments.”

It was also said to have taken the couple’s minor children to Dubai where they reportedly lived alone in a hotel since 2019.

“Therefore, by reason of the adultery, plaintiff has not seen her children since sometime in August 2019,” said Clarietta’s lawyers.

“The Plaintiff worked very hard to contribute and build a lifestyle that is beyond average and invested her time into nurturing her family.

“Together, they enjoyed a blossoming marriage of companionship which has always been in the public eye owing to the fact that the Plaintiff’s husband was a well-known business executive whose reputation and influence pervaded the whole country.”

Clarietta added that she enjoyed financial support from her husband, a lifestyle of being pampered with expensive gifts, surprise parties and events to honour her as well as expensive holiday trips around the world.

All this ended when the adulterous affair began.

Clarieta said she feels embarrassed, hurt and undignified because of what happened.

On the other hand Machingura has not shown any remorse but brags about having snatched Makuvise from Clarieta.

was also said to have taken the couple’s minor children to Dubai where they reportedly lived alone in a hotel since 2019.

“Therefore, by reason of the adultery, plaintiff has not seen her children since sometime in August 2019,” said Clarietta’s lawyers.

Veld Fire Destroys Wheat

By A Correspondent- Matabeleland South’s biggest irrigation scheme, ARDA Antelopes is counting losses after a veld fire that broke out on Friday, spreading into the farm and destroying a part of the seed crop.

Estate Manager, Aleck Chinyayi told ZBCnews that the fire broke out in the morning and destroyed a seed crop with an estimated value of US$5 000. Chinyayi said:

A fire just broke out across the fence and because the wheat is ready for harvest it didn’t take time for it to catch fire and we had to rush with the workers and put it out, we have lost almost a hectare of the seed crop.

This is happening when Zimbabwe is in serious need of locally-produced wheat to cover the deficit that was caused by Russia/Ukraine war which interrupted international trade.

Meanwhile, Mukunjulelwa Ndlovu, Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water Fisheries and Rural Development, Acting Provincial Director has urged farmers to guard against fire. Ndlovu said:

This is a seed crop that is going to help us increase our area of wheat next season and farmers need to be on the lookout for fire incidences as they can destroy the crop at the critical stage.

ARDA Antelope is one of the biggest irrigation schemes in Matabeleland South province with over 500 hectares under commercial wheat, 180 hectares of wheat seed, and 56 hectares of potatoes.

Man Nabbed For Rap_ing Own Teen Daughter

By A Correspondent- A 37-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb has been arrested on allegations of raping his 17-year-old daughter.

Why Are Some African Black People Celebrating Queen’s Death?

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Queen Elizabeth’s death revives criticism of Britain’s legacy of colonialism and untold suffering of the black community in Africa. Critics are responding to “the relationship of the monarchy to systems of oppression, repression, forced extraction of labor, and particularly African workmanship, and exploitation of natural resources and forcing systems of control in these places. The triggering point is that the Queen or any member of the Royal family offered an apology for all the evils done in Africa and Asia.

The death on Thursday of Queen Elizabeth II prompted an outpouring of grief from millions across the world, it also revived criticism of her legacy, highlighting the complicated feelings of those who saw her as a symbol of the British colonial empire an institution that enriched itself through violence, theft and oppression.
“If anyone expects me to express anything but disdain for the monarch who supervised a government that sponsored the genocide that massacred and displaced half my family and the consequences of which those alive today are still trying to overcome, you can keep wishing upon a star,” Uju Anya, an associate professor of second language acquisition at Carnegie Mellon University, tweeted Thursday afternoon.
Many accounts of blacks on Twitter went overdrive.
“Long live the Queen? Not on Black Twitter’s watch.
It’s said that one should show respect for the dead. But some would argue it depends on who died and what they did in life. Not even few hours since the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death broke out, Black Twitter didn’t exactly mourn. It shrugged and then did what it’s known for: clapping back with a vengeance.
Some users highlighted their indifference, others resorted to comedy and a few pointed out the Queen’s connection to colonialism across the Caribbean and Africa.
In our society and indeed our humanity when someone is overtaken by death it is common for the loved ones and enemies alike to ask for prayers. Even if you wish that person dead the wishes are never spilled publicly If this person should die, it is natural for everyone who has been praying for them to become sad. It does not matter whether your prayers where good or bad it is decent to be seen to be feeling sorry for the dead and their loved ones. Following the death, a mourning period ensues with the goal of remembering the life of the dead and in a good amount of situations still wishing he or she were alive. In this period people are expected to be nice to the relatives of the deceased. This is what made us human. It is called compassion. To those who are Christians the bible is very clear on what is expected when one dies. Mathew 5:4. clearly states
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

Surprisingly these days we see people blinded by history and opposition politics trapped in evil instances where they wholeheartedly hope that someone dies and they celebrate instead of mourn when they do pass away? They anxiously wait for the news of more deaths. We must always realise that Loss hurts like hell, and it’s something that each and every one of us will experience at some point in our lives. Everything that lives must also die, and as the years roll along, it’s inevitable that we will lose those close to us, including friends, family members, animal companions, and mentors. Although there isn’t any balm that can heal our pain completely, sending messages of sympathy and reassurance will help a great deal. If someone you know has experienced the pain of loss recently, sharing one of the sympathy messages may lighten their spirits a little bit, and remind them that they are cared about by others. We should at least be human enough to say “I’m sorry. I know those words are inadequate, but I am truly sorry for what you’re experiencing right now. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.” The only thing which identify us as humans is when you say “Wishing you peace and strength during this difficult time.” This does not kill you instead it spells your humanity. We should remember that even if we offer our condolences we cannot take away their pain, but we can listen and hope to touch one’s heart.” It is more human to comfort than to add salt on a wound. We all know that no words can really help to ease anyone’s loss, but just let them know that they are in your thoughts even if you are lying.
Unfortunately we now see messages on Facebook whatsapp and Twitter which gets us thinking about whether it is morally wrong to celebrate a person’s death. We have seen videos showing some inhuman evil people celebrating upon learning through their phones and word of mouth about the deaths of the British Queen. At that point, humanity takes a clear back seat, and the evil monsters blood sucking vampires masquerading as politicians get in a frenzy.
We might not have a clear opinion on whether it is morally “wrong” to celebrate an evil person’s death, but we are able to see both sides of the coin regarding this question. Technically speaking, one human life isn’t worth more than that of another human. However, we as a society are quick to label people as “good” or “bad” and these labels no doubt affect the value we place on people.
Queen Elizabeth II’s death aged 96 has sparked a flood of tributes and fond words for a beloved monarch who reigned for a record-breaking 70 years before passing away on Thursday.
From world leaders to members of the public, the social media landscape has been filled with expressions of both sadness and sarcasm in the hours since it was announced that the sovereign had died at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle.
Sadly a number of Black Twitter users have taken the opportunity to mark the Queen’s death as something of a moment to celebrate, with a range of memes and explanatory threads filling the timeline.
Those who find no words of comfort in this dark time argue that “The British Empire at the height of its power was described as the “the empire on which the sun never set” and commanded 23 percent of the world’s population in 1913. It controlled countries across every continent and today 14 overseas territories remain under British sovereignty.
“Black Twitter is absolutely Black Twittering right now,” said The Atlantic contributing writer Jemele Hill, who defended people questioning the queen’s legacy. It was during the Queen’s time that a lot of despicable things were done on Africans”
Another journalist Hill defended the outpouring of hate saying,
“Journalists are tasked with putting legacies into full context, so it is entirely appropriate to examine the queen and her role in the devastating impact of continued colonialism,”
To illustrate her point, Hill shared a link to an op-ed for The New York Times, in which Harvard professor Maya Jasanoff wrote in a guest essay: “We should not romanticize her era. The queen helped obscure a bloody history of decolonization whose proportions and legacies have yet to be adequately acknowledged.”
“This is what I mean by considering the full history of the Queen,” said Hill in a quote tweet. “It’s ok to pose questions and think about the fullness of legacies.”
Ebony Elizabeth Thomas, an associate professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Education, spoke out against a pushback toward those who were questioning Queen Elizabeth’s II’s legacy.
“Telling the colonized how they should feel about their colonizer’s health and wellness is like telling my people that we ought to worship the Confederacy,” she tweeted. “‘Respect the dead’ when we’re all writing these Tweets *in English.* How’d that happen, hm? We just chose this language?” She asked.
With the Anti monarchy supporters in social media they find it safe to claim that the Royal family are persons with evil intentions. As much as warped intentions of these social media witches lives of Royal family members isn’t worth any less than a “good” person’s life, per se. Everybody is a person first before he is aligned to a political party or a system. Although the majority of people in the social Media thought similarly, obviously not everyone believed that the dead heroes are evil persons.
The British people have lost a mother and a good leader and those who respected her definitely had a different reaction than the Devil’s celebrating in social media.

Ultimately, I think mourning or celebrating a person comes down to several factors. One of them is how you value a life. If you think that all lives are equal, then perhaps you may think it is wrong to celebrate ANYONE’S death. Another factor is obviously your relationship to the person. The Royal family relates to each and every dying person as a human being and therefore deserves our respect.
We must not advocate for either side, but we must certainly do think this is a viable question that has several variants of both sides of the coin.
Coming together over a death has more to do with the living than the dead. Loss, even when expected is a jarring experience. You’re never ever going to see that person again. Never talk to them, hear from them, or go to them.
We humans are a society species. Loss is best handled together. Those who feel the impact of the loss benefit from being with others in the same emotional place. Celebrating or grieving isn’t really the issue. Some are devastated, but if it’s a farewell celebration, it can give that person a modicum of peace…to hear others express the high points. The funeral, is a finalization of the first step of closure. Whether into the ground, scattering of ashes or a Viking boat set afire …we gather again for closure, in sadness or in celebration. Those who lose truly loved ones, have found deep comfort with others who loved and lost them. But for one to take to the social media to express joy because a person who thought differently from you has died is horrible. If you are made happy with the suffering of others indeed you are a witch.
There is no need whatsoever to insult the dead in actual fact you will be insulting the ones who are alive.
“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten” Ecclesiastes 9:5 NWT
Since the dead know nothing at all they would be unaware they were in heaven or anyplace else for that matter. They are in the grave; not in heaven, hell, purgatory, or any other sort of after life.

“for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV
When someone dies they have no knowledge or wisdom because they are dead. Jesus Christ performed resurrections during his brief ministry of three and a half years; one of those was the resurrection of his friend Lazarus.
“Lazarus our friend has fallen asleep, but I am traveling there to awaken him.” 12 The disciples then said to him: “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.” 13 Jesus, however, had spoken about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly: “Lazarus has died” John 11:11–14
It is interesting that Jesus likened death to sleeping. When in a deep sleep you are unaware of the passing of time. Someone who has been dead for a thousand years and then was resurrected they would not be aware that a thousand years had passed. Lazarus could not have known he had been dead for four days.
Those Christians who celebrate the death of others must remember God’s words
“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” Ezekiel 18:4 KJV
Everywhere we look we see death. It is a part of every life cycle, from plants, to animals, to humans. The beautiful flowers that sit on your counter, the blooming trees in your garden, the fish in the fishbowl, or the cheetah flying across the planes of the Africa will all pass away. Most devastating is the death we encounter when someone we love dies.  We must never forget that what we wish for others will also happen to us. We must mourn the dead or simply keep quiet if have nothing good to say.
Death is hard. It can rip your world apart and turn your life upside down. It is a part of the curse brought on by sin. Death is horrible in every way and so it is okay to mourn. It is normal to feel brokenhearted, devastated, and sad. But Paul tells us that though we mourn those who died, we don’t mourn the passing of Christians as those who have no hope (vs.13).
While death steals beloved ones away from us, they are not lost to us forever. Death is but a temporary state and a gateway into the presence of God and an abundant eternal life.

Death is no longer the end, but the beginning of life without sin, without evil, without tears. It is the beginning of life with Jesus, in the presence of God, perfected and made holy. It is the beginning of full joy.
The Thessalonians were afraid that the believers who had died were going to miss out when Christ returned, but the good news is that even there, death cannot hinder the believer.  Paul explains that when Christ returns the dead will be raised to life so that they too will witness the glory of Christ’s second coming.
Death is ugly and dark. It is bleak and filled with hopelessness for those who do not love Christ. But for the children of God, the darkness of death has been banished with the light of Christ’s power.
Yes, death causes pain for those who remain here on earth, but we have hope that Christ has overcome death, and that on His return it will be forever banished.
Looking to Jesus. How would you face the Queen when Christ comes after you have allowed your historical emotions to take the better of you.
The real hope for true Christians lies in the resurrection.
“having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and unjust” Acts 24:15.

You might have wondered the reason for drawing parallels between the Biblical doctrine to the debacle in the world today after the demise of the Queen. Every death naturally is cause for grief to the families and the community. The worry about the Ones who are celebrating the Queen’s death and their misguided zealots is the misplaced thinking that the death of an enemy is a victory to pop out champagne and flood social media with unprintable insults to the dead. What a shame? This simply is unethical. The morals of such people in our society, whether openly drumming up the poisonous empty platitudes or under the cover of social media is certainly rotten. To wish that all leaders must die is diabolic. While these zealots are celebrating the deaths of the Queen and wishing more leaders to die is the failure to realise that death does not discriminate between Royals and every body else.
This is not the only death that revealed people rejoicing. Adolf Hitler. Saddam Hussein. Pol Pot. Qassem Suleimani. As life goes on and more enemies are killed people will rejoice. In all this, an ethical question arises: should any one rejoice in the death of an enemy? Where Rejoicing Over the Wicked Is Wrong. It must be frankly admitted that there is a reason why blacks struggle with this. Proverbs 24:17-18 says:
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; or the Lord will see and be displeased and turn His anger away from him.”And the passage echoes other passages. Job, for instance, sees himself as righteous because he hasn’t rejoiced at the death of his enemies (Job 31:29). Or when we see the wicked doing it, we automatically know it isn’t right. Indeed, the Proverbs goes on to be careful with gloating at all over disaster (Proverbs 17:5) and call for the righteous to care for their enemies—to clothe them and feed them (Prov 25:21) something our Lord Himself says (Lev 19:17–18; Matt 5:44) and which Paul repeats (Rom 12:14).This whole idea of not rejoicing for the wicked is evidenced when God says (Ezekiel 18:23; 33:11)
“As surely as I live,” declares the Lord God, “I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, oh house of Israel?”
or when there is still hope for them:
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you… (Matt 5:44)God would rather the people repent. Peter echoes this idea when he looks back and sees that God’s forbearance is the only reason people haven’t been wiped out (2 Peter 3:9).Obviously we see that rejoicing over the death of “my” personal enemy is wrong. It seems to indicate that the personal tramping on an individual’s enemy is not something that is applauded. We see that although God judges the wicked, he’s not happy about it but rather patient, affording time so that they may repent. That is a concern that Christians, who have been shown so much mercy, should cling to patient hope.
At the same time, we are not to rejoice at the eternal condemnation of evil people. God does not desire that evil people spend eternity in the lake of fire, and He definitely does not rejoice when they go there. Neither should we. We must all know that death is not a weapon against the Royal familyso those jokes insulting the dead do insult the living. Then we do take this personally.
We must bring the loose witches to order. They must stop showing their blood tainted teeth pretending to be smiling. We can never wish any one dead. Not now not tomorrow. If a political party wishes its opponents dead indeed they are potential perpetrators of political violence. We cannot even begin to imagine what the Royal family is going through and how difficult all this must be for them.Words, however kind, can’t mend their heartache, but those who care for them share their grief and wish them comfort and peace of mind.”
We do trust in God and we will never wish death to any person. This is the time of mourning not of celebration. We have lost a human being. She might have a political history which is obnoxious. If we part ways as people let it not be over political beliefs or political inclination.

Please let us be humane. We are all made in the image of God. Do not let those celebrating the death of the Queen divide us.

The bashing of the Queen is again caused by the brutal cruel unreasonable attack on African leaders by the British Media. The British media is brutal and demonises every leader who
Is not theirs. But we are wiser than that we must not change our character our culture our humanity because of how the British press behave. We must never allow our humanity to be used in a vengeance crusade.
Let us not lambast the dead.

Wadyajena Kept Guessing

By A Correspondent- The UK embassy has kept corruption-accused ZANU PF Member of Parliament for  Gokwe  Nembudziya,  Justice Mayor Wadyajena, guessing on whether he is going to travel to the United Kingdom or not as it delayed confirming his visa.

Wadyajena had successfully applied for his passport release by the courts a week ago so he could travel to the UK and Germany on parliament business.

Harare lawyer Oliver Marwa told Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere on Thursday that his client was still waiting for confirmation of his travel to the United Kingdom from the British embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.

The lawyer also said even if Wadyajena fails to travel to the UK, he still has another trip to Germany soon, according to ZimLive.com.

This comes after the controversial lawmaker’s recent arrest with details of his fraud scandal recently splashed in the media for all to see.

Wadyajena is being charged together with his company Mayor Logistics, Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) managing director Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Fortunate Molai, Chiedza Danha, a director of Pierpoint Moncroix Mauritius.

They are accused of defrauding Cottco of US$5.8 million in a money laundering scam.

Wadyajena said he intends to challenge his placement on remand by 13 September.

Njanji also successfully filed for the release of his own passport saying he wanted to go to South Africa for a medical examination.

The application was not opposed.

Manuwere said Njanji should return his passport on September 30.

They were recently granted $100 000 bail each by Harare magistrate Stenford Mambanje.

“We Are Delivering A Better Quality Of Life For Zimbabweans”: ED

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has claimed that the ruling ZANU PF is the only party in Zimbabwe that has people-centred policies.

What he said:

In his closing remarks at the inaugural War Veterans League elective congress held at the HICC, Mnangagwa said:

Zanu-PF is the only party which fought for the liberation and democracy of this country, through you, our war veterans.

We are the only Party with people centred policies, programmes and projects. We are the party which is delivering a better quality of life that is leaving no one and no place behind, step by step, brick upon brick, stone upon stone.

Context:

The ruling party has in recent years been accused of only being interested in retaining power while doing nothing to improve the welfare of the citizenry.

In 2017 when the army then led by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga initiated “Operation Restore Legacy” which resulted in the demise of the late former President Robert Mugabe, it argued that the ruling party had diverged from the ethos and values of the liberation struggle.

Historians say improving the lives of the citizenry was one of the major motivations behind the liberation struggle.

Many Zimbabweans currently live in abject poverty following the collapse of the economy at the turn of the millennium.

Critics cite the huge contrast between the lives of political elites and the lives of the electorate as proof that the ruling party does not care about the lives of the general populace.

Mnangagwa’s remarks come as Zimbabwe prepares for harmonised elections slated for 2023.

Namibia & Botswana Scrap Passport Requirement

By- Namibia and Botswana governments have scraped the passport requirements on their border.

This development is the first of its kind in southern Africa.

Namibian president Hage Geingob, speaking in the Botswana capital Gaborone on Friday, said nationals of the two countries would only need to produce IDs to move between the two countries.

Geingob said, speaking during the inaugural Botswana-Namibia bi-national commission:

Our two countries not only share a common border, but also a common people and heritage. A symbiotic and inter-dependent relationship exists along our common borders.

Therefore, I call on our senior officials to fast-track the implementation of the usage of Identity Documents (IDs) as travel documents between the two countries, without delay.

The development came after President Geingob’s meeting with President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi.

Top Judge Fired For Opposing Mnangagwa

By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired Justice Edith Mushore from the Office of a judge.

This comes after the Tribunal established to look into an alleged absence from work handed its recommendations to Mnangagwa.
The Tribunal recommended that Mushore should be removed from the Office of a judge for acts of gross misconduct.

Acting Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya made the announcement.
Said Rushwaya:
The Tribunal which was inquiring into the question of removal from the Office of Honourable Justice Edith Mushore, in terms of Section 187 (3) of the Constitution, has completed its work.
The Tribunal has reported its findings to His Excellency, The President, Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa, and has recommended that Hon. Justice Edith Mushore be removed from the Office of a judge for acts of gross misconduct.
Accordingly, His Excellency The President, acting in terms of Section 187 (8) of the Constitution, has removed Hon. Justice Edith Mushore from the Office of Judge of the High Court.
Mnangagwa appointed a tribunal to investigate Justice Mushore’s suitability for Office after she last reported for duty on 14 June 2021 without giving reasons for her absence.

In May 2021, Mushore was one of the judges who ruled that Chief Justice Luke Malaba had ceased to lead the bench upon reaching mandatory retirement age.

However, Malaba appealed the ruling and controversially won, and he remains the Chief Justice to date.

Chamisa Aides Divided Over Job Sikhala Solidarity March

By James Gwati- Top CCC officials are said to be divided over calls for a mass protest in solidarity with the jailed party deputy chairman, Job Sikhala

Last week Charlton Hwende, the CCC secretary general, encouraged his party members to consider holding a protest for the release of Sikhala.

Makomborero Haruzivishe, a prominent CCC activist, posted on social media highlighting that cadres were castigating Hwende for organising the march.

He said:

New Twist On ZEPs

By- Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa without critical skills risk failing to benefit from the extended stay that has been given to Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders.

South Africa Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi’s recently said they had extended the stay of ZEP holders to the end of June next year, after the initial deadline of 31 December this year.

The permits were also extended last year by one year, after being introduced in 2009.

Media reports from South Africa said “after considering numerous factors, including that only a few Zimbabweans have so far applied for other permits to regularise their stay in the country, Motsoaledi announced the six-month extension.”

In an interview with News24, Zimbabwe Community in South Africa chairperson Mr Ngqabutho Nicholas Mabhena said Zimbabweans have now been given more time to get their affairs in order, although those without critical skills were still in limbo.

“We appreciate the extension. It gives people some bit of time to gather all the necessary documents. What we would try is to send the concerns raised by our members to the South Africa Home Affairs Department.”

He added there were some grey areas around the latest extension.

“There is a lack of clarity around the issue of a waiver, particularly for people who work in low-skill jobs because we are told people should apply for waivers, but according to the requirements in the Immigration Act, a person who applies for a waiver is one who can prove that there is no South African [that] can do the job that one does , even though they don’t have critical skills. So, this has caused a lot of problems for people that are working as domestic workers.”

Those with critical skills are in the fields of medicine, finance, science, Information Communication Technology, agricultural experts, and engineering, among other skilled professions. Mabhena said once clarity was made on people with no “critical skills”, he was hopeful that by December many Zimbabweans would have come forward to regularise their stay in the country.

Last month, News24 reported that only 9 000 of the 178 000 permit holders had made representations about why the department should not terminate their permits. Meanwhile, self-appointed illegal immigrant watchdog Operation Dudula has said it is heading to the apex court to interdict the Home Affairs minister’s extension of the permits.

Zandile Dabula, national secretary-general of the movement, said it rejects the “vague” reasons behind the special advisory committee’s decision.

Zandile Dabula

“Operation Dudula has instructed its attorneys to apply for ‘direct access’ to the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis, with an intent to prevent the minister of Home Affairs [from extending the] ZEP. If Zimbabwean permit holders were serious about legalising their stay in South Africa, [they] would have taken advantage of the opportunity presented by the Department of Home Affairs. Failure to make representations could mean the current permit holders don’t have valid legal grounds to advance or consciously elect to ignore legalising their stay in South Africa,” said Dabula.

Pressure Mounts On Mnangagwa Over Sikhala Detention

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was on Friday petitioned by prominent Zimbabweans who are demanding an end to the alleged persecution of two Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators and activists.

The petition calling for the release of lawmakers Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole as well as 14 CCC activists from Nyatsime   was signed by several prominent Zimbabweans.

Sikhala and Sithole have been detained since June 14 charged with inciting violence following violent skirmishes at the funeral of slain CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

They are charged alongside the 14 other CCC party activists.

The courts have on several occasions turned down their bail applications, with Sikhala being accused of being an unrepentant repeat offender capable of inciting violence.

In the petition initiated by the Southern Africa Political Economy Series (Sapes) Trust director Ibbo Mandaza and signed by 166 prominent Zimbabweans locally and abroad, the petitioners said Mnangagwa must intervene.

The petition was handed over to the Office of the President and Cabinet on Friday.

“We petition Your Excellency to bring to your consideration, a most unusual situation obtaining in the arrest and detention of Sikhala and Honourable Sithole, and 14 residents of Nyatsime, Chitungwiza following the violence of 14 June 2022 in Nyatsime. Our duty to Zimbabwe constrains us from maintaining silence,” the petition reads.

“The multiple denials of bail these two have endured, multiple times in the magistrates court and multiple times in the High Court, makes for an unusual and unprecedented situation.

“We cannot think of any prosecution in recent times where one has been denied bail for such numerous times, for offences of inciting public violence and obstruction of justice, which Honourable Sikhala is charged with, and inciting public violence, which Honourable Godfrey Sithole is charged with.

“Sikhala and Sithole have now spent 85 days in pre-trial incarceration at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.”

Efforts to get a comment from Office of the President chief secretary Misheck Sibanda were in vain as his mobile phone was not reachable.

Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba was not answering his calls yesterday.

The opposition, human rights defenders and critics say Sikhala, Sithole and the other 14 Nyatsime residents were facing political persecution.

Sikhala has said he was facing inhumane treatment in prison.

There were reports that he suffered ill health recently over suspected food poisoning.

“While we all noted the political violence that occurred in Nyatsime, it is curious that arrest and detention was targeted at members and perceived supporters of the political opposition,” the petition reads.

“No one associated with any other formation was arrested.

“When the actors in the justice system appear to act in ways wholly contrary to their sworn duty and oath to uphold and implement the law without fear or favour, inferences of external hands in work of the judiciary are bound to arise.

“The offences that Sikhala, Sithole and the 14 residents of Nyatsime are facing have not had this kind of treatment visited upon anyone charged with them in recent times.

“This treatment, we are aware, was commonplace during the times of the liberation struggle.”

Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has previously denied allegations that the legislators are being targeted for belonging to the opposition.

Police did not arrest any Zanu PF member despite videos showing them engaging in violent activities during Ali’s funeral.

Kadewere picks injury before La Liga debut

Tinotenda Kadewere’s La Liga debut will be delayed again after the striker picked a muscle injury during training on Friday.

The striker was in line to make his first appearance for Real Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid on Sunday.

He missed last weekend’s clash against Girona due to the late processing of his clearance by La Liga.

According to the club, Kadewere torn the quadriceps of his right leg.

The doctors will monitor the extent of the strain before deciding on whether the player can undergo surgery.

Mallorca said in a statement: “Tino Kadewere has suffered an injury to the quadriceps of his right leg during a first-team training session.

“Our medical team is working together with Olympique Lyon to determine whether the forward will require surgery or not.”

The Warriors striker made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean player to join a Spanish top-flight club after moving to Mallorca on a season-long loan deal.

See statement below:

Office of the MP Successfully Implements the CDF Project for 2022

The Office of the MP for Whange Central Constituency has successfully implemented its low cost but high impact project under the 2022 parliamentary Constituency Development Fund (CDF)

The 2022 project focused on the installation of water retention tanks (Jojo Tanks) in various public schools at local communities levels.

At times, some schools have been forced to consider closing temporarily due to water supply related problems

Each of the 210 constituencies across the country was allocated 11.4 million RTGS for CDF for 2022.

In response, our local CDF Committee did an extensive consultation public process, in close partnership with all the local ward Councillors under our constituency.

After the consultation process was successfully completed, it was then unanimously agreed that the 2022 CDF disbursement be used to buy the water retention tanks in order to guarantee access to water supplies in our local public schools.

The Office of the MP is so happy to announce that there are 12 local communities institutions that have now managed to benefit from the 2022 CDF project.

In particular, eleven public schools across the urban parts of our constituency together with the St Patrick’s Hospital at Empumalanga benefited from this year’s project.

For avoidance of doubt the following schools now have water retention tanks fully installed under the 2022 CDF project:

Ngadziore Trial Postponed

In Harare, the trial of pro-democracy campaigner Takudzwa Ngadziore got off to a false start Wednesday as Prosecutor told Magistrate Ruth Moyo that he hadn’t finished reading the docket, which was compiled 2 years ago in September 2020.

Ngadziore is scheduled to stand trial for allegedly protesting at Impala Car Rental premises demanding answers concerning its alleged role in the use of its vehicles in the abduction of Tawanda Muchehiwa.

Muchehiwa, was abducted, disappeared and tortured by some unidentified people in Bulawayo in July, who interrogated him to reveal the whereabouts of his relative, freelance journalist Mduduzi Mathuthu.

Ngadziore, was arrested on 18 September 2020 and charged with contravening section 37(1)(b) of Criminal Code for allegedly participating in a public gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry.

Prosecutors allege that Ngadziore, who is represented by Obey Sithole of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights teamed up with 30 other unidentified people and gathered at some traffic lights located in Braeside suburb in Harare armed with placards and demonstrated against Impala Car Rental’s alleged use of its vehicles in the abduction of Muchehiwa.

During the demonstration, prosecutors claimed that Ngadziore sang songs demeaning the police members. Magistrate Moyo gave the prosecutor 7 days to read the docket and be ready for commencement of trial on 14 September.

This was after Shava had protested that even if the prosecutor was reading one letter contained in the docket per day, he would have gone through reading the same docket several times.

Mnangagwa Heartless -Mudzuri

Tinashe Sambiri| The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is a heartless hypocrite, former Zaka Central MP Harrison Mudzuri has said.

Mudzuri, who is the PTUZ national coordinator, took a swipe at Mr Mnangagwa for maliciously causing the suffering of teachers.

The former MP further blamed Mr Mnangagwa for deliberately punishing teachers due to “perceived political reasons.”

“Teachers working under terrible conditions are insulted by being paid 40000 rtgs.

The govt of Zimbabwe is heartless.”

Responding to @zenzele’s tweet on Mr Mnangagwa’s remarks about genocide in Rwanda, Mudzuri said:
“What a hypocrite!”

@zenzele wrote on Twitter:
“This (see picture) is what Mnangagwa wrote in the Visitors book at the @Kigali_Memorial. #Asakhe #Gukurahundi.”

Malema Tears Into Dead Queen Elizabeth

By A Correspondent

South Africa’s second-largest opposition political party, EFF led by Julius Malema, says it will not mourn the death of the British Queen, Elizabeth II, as she never apologised for the plunder of African resources and the brutal killings of millions of African people by the British during the colonial era.

Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest-serving monarch, died Thursday afternoon at Balmoral, Scotland, aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
In a statement issued by National Spokesperson, Sinawo Thambo on Thursday, the party said that if indeed there is life after death, Elizabeth and her ancestors should be punished for their crimes.

Reads the statement:

The Economic Freedom Fighters notes the death of Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, the Queen of the United Kingdom, and the ceremonial head of state of several countries that were colonized by the United Kingdom.

Elizabeth ascended to the throne in 1952, reigning for 70 years as a head of an institution built up, sustained, and living off a brutal legacy of dehumanization of millions of people across the world.

We do not mourn the death of Elizabeth, because to us her death is a reminder of a very tragic period in this country and Africa’s history.

Britain, under the leadership of the royal family, took over control of this territory that would become South Africa in 1795 from Batavian control and took permanent control of the territory in 1806.
From that moment onwards, native people of this land have never known peace, nor have they ever enjoyed the fruits of the riches of this land, riches which were and still are utilized for the enrichment of the British royal family and those who look like them.

From 1811 when Sir John Cradock declared war against amaXhosa in the Zuurveld in what is now known as the Eastern Cape up until 1906 when the British crushed the Bambatha rebellion, our interaction with Britain under the leadership of the British royal family has been one of pain and suffering, of death and dispossession, and of dehumanization of African people.

We remember how Nxele died in the aftermath of the fifth frontier war, how King Hintsa was killed like a dog on the 11th of May 1835 during the sixth frontier war and had his body mutilated, and his head taken to Britain as a trophy.
It was also the British royal family that sanctioned the actions of Cecil John Rhodes, who plundered this country, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

It was the British royal family that benefited from the brutal mutilation of the people of Kenya whose valiant resistance to British colonialism invited vile responses from Britain.

In Kenya, Britain built concentration camps and suppressed with such inhumane brutality the Mau Mau rebellion, killing Dedan Kimathi on the 18th of February 1957, while Elizabeth was already Queen.
This family plundered India via the East India Company, it took over control and oppressed the people of the Caribbean Islands.

Their thirst for riches led to the famine that caused millions of people to die in Bengal, and their racism led to the genocide of aboriginal people in Australia.

Elizabeth Windsor, during her lifetime, never acknowledged these crimes that Britain and her family in particular perpetrated across the world.

In fact, she was a proud flag bearer of these atrocities during her reign. When the people of Yemen rose to protest against British colonialism in 1963, Elizabeth ordered a brutal suppression of that uprising.

During her 70-year reign as Queen, she never once acknowledge the atrocities that her family inflicted on native people that Britain invaded across the world.

She willingly benefited from the wealth that was attained from the exploitation and murder of millions of people across the world.

The British Royal family stands on the shoulders of millions of slaves who were shipped away from the continent to serve the interests of racist white capital accumulation, at the centre of which lies the British royal family.
If there is real life and justice after death, may Elizabeth and her ancestors get what they deserve.
