Police Disrupt Anti-Mnangagwa War Vets Meeting

By Political Reporter- The police in Bulawayo have banned a meeting organised by a group of war veterans who are opposed to President Emerson Mnangagwa’s life presidential plans.

The meeting, which had been scheduled for last Friday, March 15, was halted by the police, who cited concerns that the gathering could disrupt party unity.

Led by Andrease Mathibela, the ZNLWVA has historically been aligned with ZANU PF but is now perceived as a dissenting voice against Mnangagwa’s leadership aspirations.

Following the ban on their meeting, Mathibela held a press conference where he vehemently denounced the notion of “dynastic rule” in Zimbabwe.

He warned against the erosion of constitutional provisions, emphasizing the importance of upholding the limits on presidential terms as enshrined in the country’s constitution.

While there is growing support within Zanu PF for Mnangagwa’s bid for a third term, legal obstacles loom large.

Constitutional provisions explicitly disqualify individuals who have already served two presidential terms from seeking re-election.

Moreover, any attempt to amend the Constitution to circumvent these restrictions would not apply to Mnangagwa during his current tenure, as clarified by legal precedents.

Mnangagwa’s presidency, marked by controversy since his election in 2018, faces renewed scrutiny amid the debate over term limits. With his second term set to expire in 2028, the nation watches closely as the battle between political ambition and constitutional integrity unfolds.

War Vets Block Mnangagwa’s Life Presidency Plan

By Political Reporter- In a bold stand against what they perceive as a threat to democracy, certain members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) are challenging fervent supporters within Zanu PF who advocate for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to extend his presidency indefinitely.

The contentious issue arose when certain factions within Zanu PF proposed amending the Constitution to remove the presidential term limit, effectively paving the way for Mnangagwa to rule indefinitely.

However, this move faced resistance from some quarters, particularly the war veterans’ association.

On Friday, March 15, police intervened to halt a planned meeting of the ZNLWVA in Bulawayo, citing concerns that the gathering could disrupt party unity.

Led by Andrease Mathibela, the ZNLWVA has historically been aligned with ZANU PF but is now perceived as a dissenting voice against Mnangagwa’s leadership aspirations.

Unrepentant Henrietta Rushwaya Arrested Again

Zimbabwe Miners Federations (ZMF) president Henrietta Rushwaya has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Dubai-based investors of US$1.5 million.

Prone to scandals involving huge sums of money, Rushwaya is accused of attempting to sell three mines she does not own.

They include one said to be owned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Rushwaya is alleged to have travelled to Dubai in the company of nearly two dozen business associates in a push to persuade the investors to purchase the three mines.

Each mine was priced at US$1 million.

The mine allegedly owned by Mnangagwa was sold for US$1 million and US$500,000 was allegedly paid as a deposit for the second mine, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Rushwaya narrowly escaped jail November last year after she was ordered to pay a fine of US$5 000 following her conviction for attempting to smuggle 6kgs of gold to Dubai through the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

The controversial former ZIFA boss is set to appear in court this Wednesday morning.

Police Secrecy As Rushwaya Re-Arrested

By Farai D Hove | In a startling turn of events, Henrietta Rushwaya, the President of the Zimbabwe Miners’ Federation, has once again found herself at the center of legal turmoil, having been arrested on charges related to an undisclosed mining transaction. This incident adds another layer of controversy to Rushwaya’s already tumultuous career, particularly following her previous conviction related to a gold smuggling attempt.

The arrest was confirmed by the National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who stated that Rushwaya was “assisting police with investigations following a report made by a certain complainant in relation to a purported mining transaction.” However, in a move that has raised eyebrows and spurred speculation, the identity of the complainant has been carefully shielded by the police, with Nyathi providing no further details on their identity or the nature of the allegations.

This secrecy has ignited discussions about the possible involvement of high-profile figures, especially considering Rushwaya’s history of clashing with members of the First Family. The obfuscation of the complainant’s identity by the police could be seen as a protective measure, possibly indicating the sensitivity and potential implications of the case at the highest levels of power.

Rushwaya’s legal troubles are not new. In November last year, she was fined US$5,000 after being convicted of attempting to smuggle 6kg of gold, valued at over US$333,000, to Dubai. Rushwaya’s defense, claiming a mix-up of bags at home, was dismissed by the courts as implausible. Despite this setback, she managed to avoid jail time for the smuggling charge, subject to not committing a similar offense within a three-year period.

The backdrop of these incidents paints a complex picture of Rushwaya’s position within the country’s mining sector and her relationships with political elites. Her previous acquittal in August 2022, from allegations of offering a bribe to an airport official for gold smuggling, further complicates the narrative, suggesting a pattern of legal and ethical challenges surrounding her activities.

As the investigation proceeds, the deliberate withholding of the complainant’s identity by the police not only fuels speculation about the case’s connections to the upper echelons of power but also raises questions about the transparency and impartiality of law enforcement in dealing with high-profile cases. The situation remains fluid, with the Zimbabwean public and international observers keenly awaiting further developments.

Police Arrest Henrietta Rushwaya

ZIMBABWE Miners’ Federation president Henrietta Rushwaya has been arrested on allegations involving an undisclosed mining transaction.

Last night police said they would not release any details until she appears in court.

She was in custody yesterday evening, assisting police with investigations.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

We can confirm that Henrietta Rushwaya is assisting police with investigations following a report made by a certain complainant in relation to a purported mining transaction. So far investigations are in progress and these are the details we can release as of now,” he said.

Mnangagwa Appoints Accused CIO Michael Reza To ZACC Chairmanship

Controversial Prosecutor Appointed to Lead Zimbabwe’s Anti-Corruption Body Amidst Rising Concerns

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a decision that has ignited widespread controversy and debate, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Mr. Michael Reza, a prosecutor known for his involvement in high-profile political cases, as the new chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, announced the appointment, which took effect immediately, raising serious concerns among observers about the future of corruption investigations in Zimbabwe.

Mr. Reza, whose career has been marked by contentious legal battles involving opposition figures, steps into a role that is pivotal for the integrity of the nation’s fight against corruption. “His career, although distinguished by various legal credentials, has been mired in controversy, particularly regarding his involvement in cases that appeared to have political motivations,” stated a legal analyst who wishes to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Critics point to Mr. Reza’s prosecutorial record, including his role in cases against members of the CCC Alliance, where he has been accused of pushing for the alteration of evidence. “The appointment of Michael Reza as ZACC Chairperson raises significant concerns about the independence and impartiality of the commission moving forward,” said a spokesperson from a Zimbabwean civil rights organization. “His past actions, particularly in political cases, suggest a tendency that could undermine ZACC’s critical mission.”

Despite the uproar, the government has defended its decision, highlighting Mr. Reza’s qualifications and experience. “Mr. Michael Reza holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of South Africa and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the Midlands State University,” Dr. Rushwaya noted in his statement. “He possesses vast experience in criminal investigations and prosecution, having handled corruption cases at the highest level.”

Simultaneously, Ms. Fungayi Jessie Majome’s appointment as the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission has been met with approval, given her extensive legal and human rights background. “Ms. Majome’s appointment is a beacon of hope for human rights in Zimbabwe. Her experience and dedication are what the commission needs to steer it forward,” said a human rights advocate.

As Zimbabwe grapples with these significant leadership changes at the helm of its key commissions, the international community and local citizens alike will be closely watching. The effectiveness of ZACC under Mr. Reza’s leadership, especially in handling corruption cases without political bias, remains a critical concern. “For ZACC to fulfill its mandate, it must operate independently, free from political influence or interference,” remarked an international observer. “The integrity and credibility of its investigations are paramount for the trust of the Zimbabwean people and the international community.”

Farmers Allege Price Manipulation in Tobacco Prices

Farmers Allege Price Manipulation in Tobacco Auction System, Demand Government Intervention

In what’s unfolding as a potentially egregious case of market manipulation, Zimbabwe’s tobacco farmers are raising the alarm over what they perceive as unjustifiable disparities in the pricing of their crop, casting a shadow over the auction system’s integrity. Tobacco, a key cash crop for Zimbabwe, has seen its auction prices suspiciously capped at US$4.99 per kg for premium quality, starkly contrasted with up to US$6 per kg attainable through contract sales. This discrepancy is causing uproar among the farming community, with the Tobacco Farmers Union Trust (TFUT) spearheaded by Mr. Victor Mariranyika, calling for urgent government intervention to rectify the pricing anomaly.

The auction system, initially designed to benefit large-scale plantation growers, has gradually lost its appeal among the now-dominant small to medium-scale farmers due to this pricing issue. Approximately 95% of the tobacco crop is now being sold through contracts, as farmers gravitate towards more lucrative deals offered by private companies, leaving the auction floors in jeopardy of becoming obsolete.

Mr. Patrick Devenish, chairman of the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), expressed concern over the situation, emphasizing that tobacco of the same quality should naturally fetch similar prices across both platforms. The TIMB is in the process of engaging with the trade to uncover the root cause of this discrepancy, which they hope is not a result of collusion—a practice that’s strictly prohibited.

Adding to the chorus of concerns, the Competition and Tariff Commission, through spokesperson Mr. Tatenda Zengeni, announced its monitoring efforts aimed at safeguarding the market from any collusion. The commission’s vigilance is particularly geared towards protecting the interests of small-scale farmers, who form the majority of the tobacco producers and are perceived to be at greater risk of exploitation.

Farmers like Mrs. Olgah Munetsi and Mr. Farai Ruwizhu voiced their dissatisfaction, highlighting the unfairness of the system that fails to reward them equally for their hard work compared to those under contracts. They call for a review of the auction system to ensure fair value for all farmers, echoing the sentiment that the government should step in to prevent further exploitation by unscrupulous traders.

This brewing controversy underscores the critical need for transparency and fairness in agricultural commodity trading, with potential implications for Zimbabwe’s economy and the livelihoods of thousands of farmers. As the situation develops, all eyes will be on the government and regulatory bodies to take decisive action in addressing these concerns and restoring faith in the tobacco auction system.- Agencies

Duped US$350,000

Businessman Defrauded of US$350,000 in Tobacco Export Scam

Edwin Masimba Moyo, the managing director of NHIMBE Fresh Fruits, has been formally charged with fraud after allegedly swindling businessman Moses Ruwona out of an astonishing US$350,000. The charge stems from Moyo’s deceitful representation of a non-existent tobacco export deal, marking a significant financial blow to Mr. Ruwona, the managing director of Tambwari Logistics (Pvt) Ltd.

The case, which unfolded in the Harare magistrate’s court under the gavel of Mr. Stanford Mambanje, centers on Moyo’s elaborate scheme to offset a looming debt with Northern Tobacco (Pvt) Ltd through underhanded means. By falsely claiming to have secured a lucrative tender to purchase tobacco for export, Moyo aimed to use the funds from Mr. Ruwona to clear his debt and free up his property for further financial maneuvering with NMB Bank.

This fraudulent act not only highlights a grave abuse of trust and professional conduct but also underscores the perilous financial loss incurred by Mr. Ruwona. The businessman was led to believe in a profitable venture, only to find his substantial investment evaporate into thin air, with no tobacco in sight and no export profits to claim.

Details provided by prosecutor Mr. Lancelot Mutsokoti reveal that Moyo’s deceit was well-calculated, involving the misuse of a contract grower agreement with Northern Tobacco Ltd. and the leveraging of property valued at US$400,000 as surety for another loan. The false promise of a 10 percent profit share upon export further baited the trap for Mr. Ruwona, who proceeded to transfer US$332,900 in full payment, eagerly awaiting a shipment that would never come.

As the case progresses to its next court date on May 8, the business community is left to reckon with the chilling reminder of the vulnerabilities inherent in financial transactions and the devastating impact of fraudulent schemes on unsuspecting investors. The loss of US$350,000 serves not only as a personal financial disaster for Mr. Ruwona but also as a stark warning to others in the volatile world of business dealings.

Clean Air A Priority

By A Correspondent

Fossil fuel companies are facing mounting scrutiny as evidence mounts regarding their significant contribution to air pollution-related deaths across continents.

According to a report by Greenpeace Africa, approximately 400,000 premature deaths in the continent are directly attributable to air pollution caused by these companies.

This staggering figure underscores the urgent need for action to hold these companies accountable for the harm they inflict on human health and the environment.

The detrimental effects of air pollution on public health are well-documented.

Fine particulate matter and toxic gases emitted during the combustion of fossil fuels penetrate deep into the lungs and bloodstream, leading to respiratory diseases, cardiovascular problems, and other serious health conditions.

Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and low-income communities, bear the brunt of these health impacts, exacerbating existing inequalities in access to healthcare and environmental justice.

The question arises: How can fossil fuel companies justify the profound harm they cause to human lives and well-being?

Despite mounting scientific evidence and public outcry, these companies have often prioritized profits over people and planet.

They have employed various tactics to obfuscate their role in driving air pollution, including funding misinformation campaigns, lobbying against environmental regulations, and greenwashing their image through token sustainability initiatives.

It is essential to recognize that the continued operation of fossil fuel infrastructure not only perpetuates air pollution-related deaths but also exacerbates the climate crisis, further endangering future generations.

The burning of coal, oil, and gas is the single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions globally, driving global warming, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation.

The unchecked expansion of fossil fuel extraction and infrastructure perpetuates a dangerous cycle of environmental destruction and human suffering.

However, there is hope for change.

Civil society organizations, grassroots activists, and concerned citizens worldwide are mobilizing to demand accountability from fossil fuel companies and push for a just transition to renewable energy.

Initiatives such as divestment campaigns, legal challenges, and community-led resistance movements are challenging the power and influence of the fossil fuel industry and advocating for a shift towards clean, sustainable energy alternatives.

Furthermore, governments play a crucial role in regulating the fossil fuel industry and implementing policies that prioritize public health and environmental protection.

Stronger emissions standards, carbon pricing mechanisms, and incentives for renewable energy development are essential steps towards reducing air pollution and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Additionally, investing in clean energy infrastructure and creating green jobs can foster economic growth while safeguarding public health and the environment. As individuals, we also have a role to play in addressing the air pollution crisis.

By reducing our own reliance on fossil fuels, advocating for sustainable transportation options, and supporting renewable energy initiatives in our communities, we can contribute to a cleaner, healthier future for all.In conclusion, the toll of air pollution on human health and the environment is too great to ignore.

Fossil fuel companies must be held accountable for their role in perpetuating this crisis, and urgent action is needed to transition away from fossil fuels towards a more sustainable energy future.

By working together and demanding accountability, we can build a world where clean air and a healthy environment are guaranteed for generations to come.

Join the call to end the inhumane toll of air pollution.

Former Liberation Movements Unstoppable, Boasts Obert Mpofu

ZANU PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu said the Former Liberation Movements of Southern Afrisca should stand firm and continue strengthening their bond in defense of liberation grains.

Addressing the 11th Meeting of Secretaries General and Wings of the former Liberation Movement in Victoria Falls, Mpofu said the movements will forge ahead with finishing the work of realizing the dreams of Pan Africanism.

” Our meetings should also focus on sharing notes and experiences on how we can thwart the machinations of our detractors.

“It is no secret that we are under siege from our detractors who wish to sow seeds of division amongst us. We are wary of all their shenanigans.

” No divisions will succeed for what binds us is more than what could ever separate us. The band is indeed sticking together.

We will forge ahead with finishing the work of realizing the dream of Pan Africanism as espoused by Kwame Nkrumah and using the ideology set forth by Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, ” said Mpofu.

Mpofu highlighted that there are four pending elections from the movement members.

“There are several elections on our continent this year, notably in South Africa, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Namibia. We should be wary of the hidden hand of our detractors.

We should draw lessons from the harmonized elections we held here in Zimbabwe in August 2023, where my Party ZANU PF emerged victorious. However, after our victory, there were attacks from our fellow brothers here in SADC who had been influenced by our detractors.

The Mumba Report that was disguised as the SADC elections report was deliberately engineered to put a dent in our elections victory. It is such actions that we should be wary of and remain united and vigilant.

He said that he was confident that the ANC, Chama Cha Mapinduzi, FRELIMO and SWAPO will emerge victorious, winning is indeed entrenched in the movements DNA.

Chamisa Keeps Haters Guessing About Party Launch

By Political Reporter-Opposition politician Nelson Chamisa has kept his opponents guessing about launching a new party but, at the same reemerged onto the political stage, initiating discussions with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to mediate between himself and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, aiming to resolve Zimbabwe’s political polarization.

In an announcement made during his address at the funeral of Petronella Mukwende, mother-in-law of the 2023 elections’ losing Chirumhanzu South candidate, Patrick Cheza, Chamisa emphasized unity, stating, “We are one, let us work together. That is why you realize that I am making frantic efforts to call on SADC to mediate the impasse with my relative (Mnangagwa).”

Mukwende, a revered figure in her community, known for her leadership, church elder role, social work, and citizen mobilization efforts, leaves behind several grandchildren, most of whom reside in the diaspora.

Expressing profound concern over Zimbabweans seeking economic refuge abroad instead of contributing to their homeland’s development, Chamisa underscored the dire state of the economy, stating, “The economy is in tatters and it is affecting every citizen. I am not talking about politics but the state of the economy.”

He continued, lamenting the exodus of Zimbabwean talent, “We can’t have our people working abroad, we can’t have a productive workforce in foreign lands. We cannot have multitudes of people failing to work for their country because they are abroad. We want Zimbabweans to come back into their country and enjoy their country.”

Asserting pride in Zimbabwe’s potential and its people’s resilience, Chamisa remarked, “We have the best country, we have the richest country, we have the most beautiful country in the world, and the people themselves are beautiful and have kind hearts…”

Chamisa’s presence at the funeral marked a rare public appearance since his departure from the CCC. Amid swirling rumours of his forthcoming launch of another political formation, Chamisa was accompanied by his trusted lieutenant, Amos Chibaya, and Masvingo City Mayor Alec Tabe, among other dignitaries.

Zimbabwean Soldiers Desert to Join Ukrainian Army

By Diplomatic Correspondent – Russian intelligence has revealed that Zimbabwean soldiers who deserted the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) have been sighted in the Ukrainian Army, sparking international concern.

However, Russia has labelled these Zimbabwean soldiers as mercenaries, casting a shadow over their actions.

Allegations have surfaced regarding the exodus of hundreds of soldiers from the ZNA, citing grievances such as inadequate pay and harassment as primary reasons for desertion.

It’s reported that Zimbabwean soldiers struggle to subsist on a meager salary of less than US$300 per month, pushing them to seek alternative opportunities abroad.

These soldiers, potentially among those identified by Russian intelligence, may have found their way into the Ukrainian Army, seeking better prospects.

ZimEye could not get a comment from ZNA spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore before publishing this article.

According to NewsDay, the number of Zimbabwean mercenaries allegedly involved could be more substantial, potentially reaching up to ten individuals.
Among these mercenaries, three are believed to be former members of the Zimbabwean military.

The conflict in Ukraine, which escalated with the Russian military operation starting on February 24, 2022, has attracted a significant influx of foreign mercenaries.

The total count of these combatants entering Ukraine has now surpassed 13,000, with the Russian Army claiming to have neutralized nearly 6,000 of them.
The Russian Ministry of Defence asserts its vigilance in monitoring and documenting all foreign mercenaries participating in combat activities in Ukraine.

A substantial number of foreign mercenaries originate from various countries, including Poland, the United States, Georgia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Romania, France, and Germany.
Additionally, 249 mercenaries come from 14 African nations, with a presence in Ukraine dating back to the conflict’s onset two years ago.

Regrettably, 103 of these African fighters have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict, with Nigeria, Algeria, and South Africa contributing the most significant numbers.

Significantly, Zimbabwe and South Africa stand as the only Southern African nations with mercenaries actively engaged in Ukraine.

Tshabangu Mayor Pushes For Closure of Beer Shops

By A Correspondent | Sengezo Tshabangu CCC, Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has voiced support for the government’s decision to prohibit stand-alone liquor stores in the Central Business District (CBD) of Harare, suggesting an expansion of the ban to residential areas.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Mafume expressed his approval of the government’s initiative, emphasizing the need for extending such measures beyond the CBD due to the adverse effects of numerous liquor stores on societal well-being.

“This is a positive step. The scope of this action should encompass residential areas as well. The proliferation of liquor stores has contributed to the rise of substance abuse and moral deterioration,” stated Mafume.

The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance in Zimbabwe (SAAPA ZW), an advocacy group against substance abuse, echoed Mafume’s sentiments, praising the government’s move as a significant stride toward safeguarding public health and welfare.
In a released statement, SAAPA ZW urged for collaborative efforts among governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and stakeholders to formulate and enforce evidence-based alcohol policies, aimed at fostering a safer and healthier environment for all citizens.

Last week, the government announced its decision to withhold the renewal of licenses for stand-alone bottle stores operating within the Harare CBD, effective upon the expiry of their current permits in June.

According to Gabriel Masvora, the Communications and Advocacy Director in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, all liquor retailing licenses in Harare CBD will cease upon expiration on June 30. He emphasized that only liquor stores within supermarkets will be permitted to operate within the CBD thereafter.

This regulatory action aligns with recent measures introduced to combat substance abuse and illegal alcohol distribution.

Masvora further stated that liquor outlets posing threats to public safety will not receive automatic license renewals for 2024, stressing the importance of compliance with established regulations.

The proliferation of alcohol retail outlets in central Harare has raised concerns among authorities, attributed to minimal barriers to entry into the sector, coupled with insufficient enforcement of licensing and regulatory protocols.

Under the newly unveiled regulations, nightclubs without essential safety features such as soundproofing, air conditioning, and insurance will be ineligible for licensing. Additionally, specific requirements regarding restroom facilities, fire safety equipment, and structural standards have been outlined to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons and the public.

Tshabangu’s Birthday Amidst Political Turmoil: A Call for Unity or a Cause for Concern?

By A Correspondent

Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-declared Citizens Coalition for Change interim Secretary General, found himself in the eye of a political storm as he celebrated his birthday amidst a flurry of controversy and accusations.

While Tshabangu expressed gratitude to well-wishers, his statement invoking the ideals of unity, democracy, and transparency has stirred up a storm of criticism and suspicion.

In his statement, Tshabangu expressed gratitude to those who extended birthday wishes to him, promising to serve as a champion of unity in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

He pledged to uphold the values epitomized by the late Joshua Nkomo, a revered figure in Zimbabwean politics known for his advocacy for unity and democracy.

However, Tshabangu’s words were met with skepticism and anger from many quarters.

Critics and angry citizens have accused Tshabangu of colluding with Zanu PF, the ruling party, to undermine the opposition movement in Zimbabwe.

They argue that his words of unity ring hollow amidst allegations of backroom dealings and compromises that could jeopardize the democratic aspirations of the Zimbabwean people.

The timing of his statement, amid a charged political atmosphere, has only intensified scrutiny and suspicion. The backlash against Tshabangu highlights the deep-seated divisions and mistrust within Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

As the country grapples with economic challenges, human rights concerns, and political uncertainty, the role of opposition leaders like Tshabangu is under intense scrutiny.

Many Zimbabweans are wary of leaders who they perceive as compromising their principles for personal gain or political expediency.

Businessman Scoffs At Impersonation Claims

By A Correspondent| Harare businessman Andrew Manongore has laughed off at social media claims that he impersonates and claims to be President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son or nephew saying ED is everything to him.

He described the claims as an attempt by malcontents to extort him, demanding US$80 000 to spare his name.

This arose after skirmishes at a local hotel which resulted in a police report against celebrity prophet Passion Java and Mike Chimombe who allegedly led goons in attacking Manongore.

“The mistake these people are making is to think that I started knowing ED when he became president. I grew up and worked in the Midlands where he looked after me. I have no reason to claim that he is my father because he is everything to me. He would pay my rentals when I moved to Chitungwiza and helped me start my business. He groomed me in business and taught me the values of hard work.
“This is someone who paid my rentals and bought my groceries. He is more than a father to me. He is my godfather. This is the work of my enemies and they, wanted US$80 000 from me which I refused to part with” he said.
The businessman said he will be instituting legal action against those bend on soiling his image and dragging the President’s name.

He said his enemies are trying to sow seeds of division between him and the President’s family.

“I cannot disassociate myself with the President and his family because our relationship is well documented. His sons and myself are more than friends. We are family. Unlike these other guys who will be seeking photo opportunities with them, I don’t have to do that, I don’t have that appetite because I have been a part of them and if need be, I know where to find them.

“I have never at one point used or abused his name and no one can claim that I have done so. There is no evidence to that because it has never happened and we will be sending our lawyers. The President is on record, speaking against those who name drop his name or his family. I’m a successful businessman, leading a quiet life away from social media and this pains a lof of people,” he said.

The businessman said his dispute with Mike Chimombe has been resolved after a meeting on Monday. Chimombe reportedly apologized to Manongore over the incident and he was forgiven.

Zanu PF Proxy Claims Ownership of Blue Colour

Tinashe Sambiri

In a bizarre turn of events, another Zanu PF proxy has stepped forward, claiming ownership of the color blue in what appears to be a desperate attempt to thwart Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s burgeoning political movement.

The assertion comes as Chamisa’s Blue movement gains momentum, posing a significant challenge to the ruling party’s dominance.

The controversy erupted when Zanu PF hardliners, identified as Varakashi, took to Facebook to announce their stance. According to their post, Dr. Blessing Blessing Kasiyamhuru, President of the Zimbabwe People’s Party (ZIPP), filed an urgent chamber application to prevent Nelson Chamisa from utilizing the color blue.

The application contends that blue has been a registered trademark of ZIPP since 2016, and Chamisa’s adoption of the hue is deemed an infringement intended to confuse ZIPP supporters.”

This is a blatant attempt to stifle political opposition and suppress the growing influence of Advocate Chamisa’s movement,” remarked a political analyst who preferred to remain anonymous.

“Color symbolism holds significant power in politics, and Zanu PF’s claim over blue exemplifies their desperation to maintain control.”

In response to the allegations, Chamisa’s camp has denounced the move as a ludicrous attempt to monopolize a color. “The Blue movement is not about a color; it’s about a vision for a better Zimbabwe,” stated a spokesperson for Chamisa.

“We will not be deterred by such petty tactics aimed at undermining our message of hope and change.”

Legal experts have expressed skepticism regarding the validity of ZIPP’s claim over the color blue.

“While it’s possible to trademark colors in certain contexts, such as specific product branding, extending ownership to a political party is highly dubious,” remarked a legal scholar.

“Moreover, enforcing such a claim would pose significant challenges, especially in the realm of political discourse.”

The incident underscores the intensifying battle for political relevance in Zimbabwe, where opposition movements are increasingly challenging the hegemony of Zanu PF. Chamisa’s Blue movement, characterized by its youthful energy and progressive agenda, has struck a chord with disillusioned voters seeking an alternative to the status quo.

“The attempt to monopolize a color reflects the broader authoritarian tendencies within Zimbabwe’s political landscape,” noted a human rights activist.

“It highlights the lengths to which those in power will go to suppress dissent and maintain their grip on power.”

As the legal battle over the ownership of blue unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the high stakes involved in Zimbabwe’s political arena.

Whether Chamisa’s movement can overcome this latest obstacle remains to be seen.

However, one thing is clear: the struggle for political freedom and democracy in Zimbabwe will persist, regardless of attempts to silence dissenting voices.

Chigumba In Russia As Putin Claims Landslide Victory

By A Correspondent

In a startling turn of events, Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a resounding triumph in the nation’s recent polls, clinching a staggering 87 percent of the vote.

However, amidst the jubilation of his claimed victory, accusations of electoral interference have emerged, pointing fingers at an unlikely source – Priscilla Chigumba, the controversial figure behind Zimbabwe’s own contentious elections.

Chigumba, infamous for her alleged involvement in rigging polls in favor of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu PF party, now finds herself embroiled in a cross-border controversy.

Political observers have raised concerns that her presence in Russia, leading a delegation from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), may have influenced the outcome of the Russian plebiscite. The Zimbabwean delegation’s purported role in the Russian elections has ignited a storm of speculation regarding the integrity of the electoral process.

Questions abound over the extent of Chigumba’s involvement and the potential impact on the credibility of Putin’s landslide victory.

Critics argue that Chigumba’s presence in Russia raises alarming parallels with her past actions in Zimbabwe, where accusations of electoral malpractice and voter suppression have tarnished the democratic facade.

With her track record under scrutiny, suspicions loom large that her expertise in manipulating elections may have been exported beyond Zimbabwean borders.

The allegations against Chigumba underscore broader concerns about the vulnerability of electoral systems to external interference and manipulation.

As the international community grapples with safeguarding the integrity of democratic processes, the specter of foreign intervention casts a shadow over the credibility of election outcomes worldwide.

For Putin, whose grip on power has faced mounting scrutiny amid allegations of authoritarianism and electoral irregularities, the accusations of Chigumba’s meddling only serve to deepen existing doubts about the legitimacy of his rule.

While the Kremlin has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, the presence of a controversial figure like Chigumba in the midst of Russia’s electoral proceedings has raised uncomfortable questions about the fairness of the process.

As calls for transparency and accountability grow louder, the spotlight now falls on both Zimbabwe and Russia to address allegations of electoral interference head-on.

The credibility of democratic institutions hangs in the balance, and the world watches with bated breath as the fallout from these allegations unfolds.

In the wake of Chigumba’s alleged involvement in the Russian polls, the global community faces a stark reminder of the fragility of democracy in the face of external manipulation.

The events in Russia serve as a cautionary tale, highlighting the urgent need for robust safeguards to protect the sanctity of electoral processes and uphold the principles of democracy worldwide.

Ex Publicist Defends Mukanya In Wicknell Feud

By A Correspondent| Former Chimurenga music publicist Blessing Vava has defended celebrated musician Thomas Mapfumo saying he will not change his stance regardless of offers from crooked businessman such as Wicknell Chivhayo.

Posting on Facebook, Vava said controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo’s offer to Mukanya is an insult of his legendary status.

“I have worked very closely with Mudhara Thomas & one thing I knew then he will not change his thinking nomatter what. This “offer” is a bit belittling & insulting, especially for such a legendary figure like Mukanya. They were such offers before, 2018 in particular, but…(stories we will share in the fullness of time),” said Vava.

Mukanya torched a social media storm when he labeled musicians who were tripping over each other to accept gifts of cars from Chivhayo, as poor (varombo).

This forced Chivhayo to hit back while offering the Mamvemve hit maker a car of his choice worthy US$200 000 and a US$300 000 house.

Now Vava has defended his former paymaster saying there were similar offers in the past which Mukanya turned down.

Zimbabwean Businessman In Hot Soup For Looting Millions In Namibia

By A Correspondent| A Namibian court has ruled that businessman Enoch Kamushinda and his associates looted N$247 million (about US$15 million then; US$30 million now) from the SME Bank before it closed in 2017.

The court recommended that Kamushinda be prosecuted and his assets seized.

The judges said Kamushinda and his accomplices were involved in a four-year looting spree from December 2013 to January 2017.

They created false payment instructions to steal money from the bank.

The bank’s liquidators said Kamushinda’s companies and his accomplices received the stolen money.

The court also said the Bank of Namibia, which regulates banks, should investigate why it did not stop the looting sooner.

Priscilla Chigumba in Russia

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Chairperson Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba has declared a controversial election, involving Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his affiliates, as free and fair.

The question of her understanding of what constitutes a free and fair election arises, especially considering the two elections over which she presided. In these elections, her boss and appointing authority, Emmerson Mnangagwa, was accused of rigging votes in broad daylight and using soldiers to commit acts of violence against civilians.

Chigumba stated:

“Apart from some reports by external media organizations, there is evidence of objective reporting by the local media on the activities observed. Our mission is impressed by the steps the Central Election Commission (CEC) has taken to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. The mission acknowledges the extended voting period.”

Close Stand Alone Liquor Stores I Residential Areas, Says Harare Mayor

By A Correspondent| Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume has welcomed the government move to ban stand-alone liquor store in the Central Business District of Harare saying it should be extended to residential areas.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Mafume said the proliferation of liquor stores has contributed to the drug menace and moral decay in society.

“This is a welcome development .The measure needs to extend to the residential areas. The many liquor stores have contributed to the drug menace and moral decay,” said Mafume.

An anti-drug abuse campaign and lobby group the Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance in Zimbabwe (SAAPA ZW) recently commended government move saying the move is a significant step toward promoting public health and safety.

In a statement SAAPA ZW urged government to collaborate with various stakeholders to create a safer and healthier environment for all citizens.

“SAAPA ZW stands ready to collaborate with relevant government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based alcohol policies. Our collective efforts can create a safer and healthier environment for all Zimbabweans,” said SAAPA ZW.

Ex-Zim Soldiers Spotted In Ukrainian Army

By Diplomatic Correspondent- At least five former Zimbabwean Soldiers have reportedly been identified in the Ukrainian army, a report by the Russian Defence Ministry has revealed.

Tragically, one of them has already lost their life on the battlefield.

The report seen by NewsDay says the actual number of Zimbabwean mercenaries involved could be higher, possibly reaching up to ten.

Three of these mercenaries are believed to be former soldiers from Zimbabwe.

The Russian military operation in Ukraine, which commenced on February 24, 2022, has led to a significant influx of foreign mercenaries.

The total count of these combatants arriving in Ukraine has now reached 13,387. The Russian army claims to have eliminated 5,962 of these mercenaries. It said:

The Russian Ministry of Defence continues to track and personally record all foreign mercenaries who have arrived in Ukraine to participate in combat action.

Russia claims 2,960 mercenaries arrived from Poland, 1,113 “soldiers of fortune are from the United States of America, and 1,042 fighters are from Georgia.

Other contributing countries include Canada, the United Kingdom, Romania, France, and Germany.

Among the foreign mercenaries, 249 hail from 14 African countries, and they have been present in Ukraine since the war began two years ago.

Tragically, 103 of these African fighters have lost their lives in the conflict. The countries with the highest representation are Nigeria (97), Algeria (60), and South Africa (35).

Remarkably, Zimbabwe and South Africa are the sole southern African countries with mercenaries actively operating in Ukraine.

Political analyst Pardon Taodzera said the participation of Zimbabwean mercenaries in Ukraine is worrisome since Zimbabwe is known to be pro-Russian. He said:

The involvement of Zimbabwean mercenaries in the Ukrainian conflict is a concerning development that underscores the complex and multi-faceted nature of modern warfare.

It highlights the ability of conflicts in one region to attract participants from across the globe, illustrating the interconnectedness of global security dynamics.

The emergence of Zimbabwean mercenaries in Ukraine raises questions about the motivations and interests driving their participation.

It suggests that non-State actors, motivated by a variety of factors including financial gain and ideological beliefs, are playing an increasingly significant role in shaping the course of conflicts around the world.

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Yevgeny Uspensky, called for action regarding the issue of international mercenaries operating in Ukraine.

He highlighted that the UN Secretariat has been made aware of statistics revealing the involvement of foreign mercenaries in combat on the side of the Kyiv regime.

Ambulance Involved In Accident At Bridge Built By Barbara Rwodzi

By A Correspondent | ZimEye |  A calamitous accident occurred on a bridge constructed by Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi.

This bridge became the scene of a dire incident involving an ambulance from Holy Cross Mission Hospital, igniting a firestorm of inquiry and critique. The bridge, emblematic of Minister Rwodzi’s oversight, has been roundly condemned for its primitive design, standing as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of neglecting centuries of architectural progress.

– A Tragic Oversight

Central to this distressing narrative is the construction of what has infamously become known as the “lump of bricks” bridge, directly tied to Minister Rwodzi. Amid swirling confusion and cynical blame aimed at figures such as Wicknel, Scott, and Java, the bridge’s subpar design has come under severe scrutiny for its apparent disregard for contemporary engineering norms, spotlighting grave concerns about the management and implementation of critical public infrastructure initiatives under Minister Rwodzi’s stewardship.

The ambulance stranded

The situation escalated to a crisis when an ambulance, hurrying to respond to an emergency, was dramatically halted by the bridge’s inadequate design. The driver, Philip Machekano, found himself embroiled in controversy, facing allegations of drunken driving. This accusation adds to the complexity of a scenario that intertwines personal culpability with wider systemic shortcomings, emphasizing the disastrous implications of the bridge’s flawed construction.

The front of the vehicle

The involvement of Minister Rwodzi and the affiliation with the ruling Zanu PF party casts a long shadow over the incident, fueling speculation about the politicization of public infrastructure projects. The evident mismanagement and misallocation of resources in the bridge’s construction are criticized as reflective of deeper governance issues, with the bridge serving as a contentious example of the quality and integrity of infrastructure under such political guidance.

– A Public Uproar

The shocking imagery of the stranded ambulance at Minister Rwodzi’s inadequately built bridge has sparked widespread public fury and a clamouring for accountability.
The Minister was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

Zim Education Faces Total Collapse As Teachers Down Tools

By Political Reporter- The already fragile education system risks total collapse as teachers plan to down tools over deteriorating conditions of service.

The Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU), a collective of radical teachers’ unions, Monday issued a call to action for all teachers in Zimbabwe.

Beginning on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, they are urging teachers to participate in a 3-day job strike in response to the government’s recent US$20 wage increase, which they consider a mere “mockery”.

FOZEU said no teacher should report for duty from March 20 to March 22, 2024, and that the mass action will continue until the government pays a living wage.

Reads the statement:

The Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions, FOZEU, a collective of radical teachers’ unions is calling on all teachers in Zimbabwe to embark on a 3 day Job action beginning Wednesday 20 March 2024.

Following the conclusion of consulting teachers on a fight-back strategy in the face of the mockery of a USD20 increment, we update our constituency as follows;

A total of 56 700 teachers were consulted both offline and online. 55 220 of the consulted teachers asked FOZEU to call for a Job action before Schools close and mobilise for an indefinite national trike when Schools open for 2nd term.

Some of the grievances which came from the teachers during consultations included the incapacity to pay examination fees for children because of inadequate salaries which is ironic for teachers who work to prepare children for examinations whilst their own children fail to sit for the same examinations.

The Federation hereby declares that;

1. No teacher should report for duty from Wednesday 20 March 2024 to Friday 22 March 2024

2. The mass action is to be escalated as the second term opens until the employer pays a living wage.

3. FOZEU leaders to engage other progressive unions in the Civil Service seeking collaborations in the fight for a living wage.

4. Deadlines for registration for sitting for Public Examinations be extended until the Salary Crisis is resolved.

FOZEU stands ready to provide legal assistance to all teachers who may face victimisation during the coming job action.

The Federation calls upon teachers to mobilise each other at classroom level to make this job action a success.

The employer has to be forced to pay a living wage of USD1 260, teachers are encouraged to seize this opportunity to apply pressure on the employer by completely withdrawing labour.

The Constitution of Zimbabwe provides for the right to Strike and picket.

University of Zambia Hits Back At UK Degree Downgrading

By Diplomatic Correspondent- In response to the recent decision by the United Kingdom government to downgrade one of its degrees to a diploma level, the University of Zambia (UNZA) has issued a robust rebuttal.

According to a report by Lusaka Times, the UK Home Office has excluded graduates from the University of Zambia from eligibility for the High Potential Individuals (HPI) visa, citing concerns about the perceived quality of their degrees.

The HPI visa program is specifically aimed at attracting highly skilled graduates from international universities outside of the UK to bolster various sectors, including science and technology.

The report further stated that the UK-NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centre) had assessed UNZA’s bachelor’s degree in humanities as equivalent to a British two-year Higher National Diploma, while degrees in medicine, engineering, and law were deemed comparable to the three-year British Bachelor (Ordinary) Degree standard.

In response to these assertions, UNZA issued a statement emphasising the need for clarification.

The university firmly stated its position, challenging the validity of the comparisons made by UK-NARIC.

UNZA maintained that its degrees uphold rigorous academic standards and are on par with international benchmarks.

Below is the full statement by UNZA:

Increased internet access is fueling the proliferation of online gaming in Zimbabwe

The online gambling industry in Zimbabwe, like many countries, has experienced rapid growth in recent years. One of the main reasons for this is the increasingly widespread internet access in the country. With the advent of more affordable mobile internet tariffs and the expansion of wired access, more and more Zimbabweans are becoming active participants in the gaming culture in the online space.

Online gaming is taking over Zimbabwe

Online and mobile gambling platforms are becoming increasingly popular in Zimbabwe because of the accessibility and convenience they offer players. Plus, with the advancement of technology and internet coverage, people can easily play their favorite games anytime and anywhere from the comfort of their homes. This also contributes to the increase in the number of people who are interested in gambling.

With the advent of sports betting, the social demand for gambling in Zimbabwe has increased. Young people have found a new way to combine their sporting interests with gambling, which is fueling the development of the gambling industry in the country. Big bets on major sporting events can lead to significant revenues for both betting shops and winners.

It is important to note that while some African countries have strict restrictions on gambling, Zimbabwe has opted for an open approach to the issue, establishing a legal framework to regulate the industry. However, it does not contribute to the growth of the economy, so gambling should be given an official status, which has not happened yet

Statistics show that most people in the country play gambling on their phones. This is as simple as possible, as it is enough to go to 1win, sign up or make an account at other well-known casinos to start playing or betting right from home.

However, given the difficulties faced by many people in Zimbabwe, gambling can be an attractive way to make quick money in a country where other earning opportunities can be limited. It is therefore important to remember that gambling has its risks, and getting involved in it can lead to financial problems.

Which games are the most popular and what the future holds for gamers

Online gambling on the African continent is truly experiencing its golden age. With the gradual adoption of behaviors and customs from the Western world, online gambling is becoming increasingly popular among the locals. Slot machines remain the most popular form of entertainment, due to their simplicity and ease of use. However, new games, such as the Aviator game, are also becoming increasingly popular, offering players a unique and exciting experience.

One of the major trends for online gaming in the future will be increased interactivity and gamer engagement. Titles will offer more realistic and engaging gameplay, as well as customizable scenarios so that each user can receive unique content.

In addition, we can expect to see the rise of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in online gaming. VR and AR technologies are already heavily utilized in some titles, but their popularity will only increase, opening up new possibilities for the gaming experience.

Another major trend will be the rise of cross-platform gaming, allowing gamers to play together on different devices. This will make games more accessible and social, increasing the gaming community and opportunities for collaborative play.

It is also important to note that in the future, the gaming industry will actively utilize artificial intelligence to improve gameplay, creating smarter NPCs and destructible environments.

On the other hand, the cost of internet in this African country is very high and it even causes difficulties for local businesses.

A heavy hailstorm destroyed two classroom blocks, two hostels and an administration block at Dadaya High School in Zvishavane this Thursday.

The hailstorm, which was accompanied by strong winds blew the roofs of classrooms and hostels, leaving over 100 learners stranded.

Mnangagwa Secretly Removes Chiwenga Sympathisers

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe grapples with mounting crises, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent manoeuvers to consolidate power have sparked concern among observers, who warn of a potential third term bid amidst political intrigue and factional rivalries within the ruling Zanu PF party.

In a move perceived as a bid to tighten his grip on authority, Mnangagwa convened a meeting with Zanu PF provincial youth chairpersons over the weekend. The gathering, ostensibly aimed at discussing party matters, is viewed by many as a calculated tactic to bolster his support base and assert dominance within the party hierarchy.

Observers suggest that Mnangagwa’s strategic engagements with party officials signify a broader agenda to prolong his tenure in office, potentially seeking a controversial third term.

Such a move would not only defy constitutional norms but also exacerbate existing tensions within the country’s political landscape.

“Emmerson Mnangagwa has already begun manoeuvers to gun for a third term of office,” remarked one observer, highlighting the president’s apparent ambitions to extend his rule beyond the confines of the current term limit.

Moreover, Mnangagwa’s efforts to consolidate power extend beyond mere political posturing.

Reports indicate a systematic purge of individuals perceived to be aligned with his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, who harbors presidential aspirations of his own.

By pruning elements sympathetic to Chiwenga within the party ranks, Mnangagwa seeks to eliminate potential challenges to his authority and solidify his position as the undisputed leader of Zanu PF.

A Zanu PF source shed light on Mnangagwa’s strategic maneuvering, stating, “Zanu PF Provincial Youth Chairpersons meets President and 1st Secretary of the Party Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa ahead of the planned Provincial Interdistricts.”

This gathering serves as a testament to Mnangagwa’s concerted efforts to shore up support at the grassroots level, crucial for maintaining control amidst growing discontent and dissent.

The implications of Mnangagwa’s power consolidation efforts are far-reaching, with ramifications for Zimbabwe’s democratic future and stability.

Critics warn that an unchecked extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency could further erode the country’s already fragile democratic institutions and exacerbate socio-economic challenges facing ordinary citizens.

As Zimbabwe navigates through a period of uncertainty and turmoil, Mnangagwa’s maneuvers to consolidate power underscore the delicate balance of power within the ruling party and the broader implications for the nation’s political trajectory.

Whether Mnangagwa’s bid for extended rule materializes remains to be seen, but the specter of a potential third term looms large, casting a shadow of uncertainty over Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed concerns about the image of the South African football after law enforcers, Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit, raided SAFA House last week.

The Hawks raided the FA’s headquarters as part of an investigation into allegations that Jordaan spent over R1 million of the association’s money for personal gain and without following proper procurement processes.

Man Who Smuggled Corpse Into Zimbabwe Accuses Chamisa Of Stealing Blue Colour

By Dorrothy Moyo | Blessing Kasiyamhuru, previously embroiled in a scandal involving the smuggling of his wife’s body into Zimbabwe without proper documentation amid allegations of insurance fraud, has resurfaced with accusations against prominent political figure Nelson Chamisa. Kasiyamhuru, who had faced condemnation from his own mother-in-law for his actions, has now shifted attention to Chamisa, accusing him of theft.

The sequence of events surrounding Kasiyamhuru’s past actions is both perplexing and alarming. Amid the cloud of suspicion surrounding his wife’s death and the subsequent smuggling of her body, questions arose regarding not only Kasiyamhuru’s integrity and motives, but his capacity to hurt other people beyond those close to him. His failure to provide satisfactory explanations for his actions only served to deepen the skepticism surrounding his character.

Now, Kasiyamhuru’s latest accusation against Nelson Chamisa adds another layer of incredulity to an already convoluted narrative. Claiming ownership of the color blue, Kasiyamhuru has accused Chamisa of illegally appropriating it. Such an outlandish claim raises serious doubts about Kasiyamhuru’s credibility and mental state.

It is essential to scrutinize Kasiyamhuru’s motives behind these accusations. Is he attempting to deflect attention away from his own transgressions by implicating a prominent political figure? Or is this merely a desperate attempt to regain some semblance of relevance in the public eye?

Furthermore, Kasiyamhuru’s past actions call into question his moral authority to level accusations against anyone, let alone a respected leader like Nelson Chamisa. His lack of accountability and transparency regarding the circumstances of his wife’s death and the subsequent smuggling of her body erode any credibility he may have once possessed.

In the face of such deception and manipulation, it is imperative for the public to remain vigilant and discerning. The truth must be uncovered, and those who seek to deceive and manipulate must be held accountable for their actions. As the saga surrounding Blessing Kasiyamhuru continues to unfold, one thing remains clear: the pursuit of justice and integrity must prevail over deceit and corruption.

Mukanya Rejects Chivhayo Bribe Offer

Showbiz Reporter – Renowned Chimurenga icon Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo has staunchly refused offers of a car and a house extended to him by the controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo.

Chicago, on Monday, openly mocked Mukanya by presenting him with a brand-new car and a luxurious residence.

In an exclusive conversation with Nehanda Radio, Mapfumo firmly stated, “I’m not that type to be bribed like that.”

Mapfumo recounted his surprise upon receiving a call from Chivhayo on Sunday night. “Yes, I know he enjoys my music. He called me before I went to bed and mentioned he was in New York for a visit. I inquired about his family, and that was the extent of our conversation.”

Chivhayo took a screenshot of their phone call, leading to misconceptions that Mapfumo initiated contact with him, a narrative debunked by Mapfumo himself.

Chivhayo’s public plea for Mapfumo to retract past criticisms of ZANU PF, accompanied by the offer of extravagant gifts, follows Mapfumo’s recent critique of musicians seeking favors from the wealthy businessman.

The clash between Chivhayo and Mapfumo escalates as the former’s lavish gifting of cars to celebrities raises eyebrows, sparking debates regarding his affiliations and intentions.

This altercation adds fuel to the fire surrounding Chivhayo’s philanthropic activities, raising questions about their underlying motivations and sources.

Mnangagwa Aide Threatens Villagers

By NewsDay- Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Misheck Mugadza has threatened villagers with unspecified action should they not attend this year’s Uhuru celebration in Buhera.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be at Murambinda’s growth point in Buhera for the Independence Day celebrations next month.

Mugadza made the remarks while addressing various church denominations at Murambinda growth point on Saturday during a national prayer day in preparation for the Independence Day Celebrations.

Zanu PF national chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri was the guest of honour.

Murambinda growth point, where poverty and underdevelopment abound, will host the celebrations during which Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour.
The commemorations will be held under the theme Zim@44: Unity, Peace and Development Towards Vision 2030.
Mugadza, the Zanu PF Mutasa South Member of Parliament said: “During the Independence Day Celebrations no one should be seen at home.
“If you are seen at home you are a thief.”
There are now fears that villagers and residents in Murambinda will be frog-marched to the celebrations as national events are increasingly being turned into impromptu Zanu PF rallies.
During the youth day celebrations held in Masvingo in February, Mnangagwa addressed a rally where his loyalists rallied support for him to extend his term beyond 2028.
The country’s Constitution prohibits an incumbent from benefitting from a constitutional amendment to a term limit.
Mnangagwa may need a referendum to extend his term.
“I am happy that churches have come in your numbers. This shows that you support President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Mugadza said.
Zanu PF Buhera North legislator, Phillip Guyo said thousands of villagers are expected at the Independence Day celebrations.
The government has since ordered all local authorities in Manicaland to camp in Buhera district where they are doing rehabilitation works including road maintenance to ensure the Zanu PF bigwigs have a comfortable ride in and out of the poverty-stricken district.
The 120-kilometre Murambinda and Birchnough Bridge growth point road is being rehabilitated.
For many in the previously neglected Murambinda, it is the first time to see government departments at work to give the area a facelift ahead of the celebrations.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF has extended its begging bowl to companies in Manicaland to finance the 44th Independence Day main celebrations.
Some companies, who refused to be named last week said they have been having several visits from Zanu PF officials seeking donations such as fuel and cash to feed the crowds expected to attend the celebrations.
“We have been approached by Zanu PF to help in financing the Independence Day Celebrations in Murambinda and there is nothing we can do, but to help,” said one company official who refused to be named for fear of victimisation.
Zanu PF director of Information, Farai Marapira said: “There is nothing wrong in seeking help, what we don’t want is extortion. Remember this is a national event and this has nothing to do with politics.”
Some Zanu PF officials have been known to take advantage of such events to line their pockets by abusing the name of the party and name-dropping to swindle potential donors. Zanu PF has also roped in churches, especially the Apostolic sects, to mobilise their members to attend in numbers. Newsday

FAZ Thugs Butcher CCC Official, Leave Him For Dead

By Masvingo Mirror-Members of the Zanu PF terror group, Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), by Kudzai Chidewe, have assaulted Chivi District’s CCC councillor Tawedzerwa Runyowa.

The incident occurred in front of parents and schoolchildren and unfolded as Runyowa attempted to attend a school meeting at Madyangove Primary.

FAZ, known for its history of violence and alleged interference in the 2023 elections, purportedly aimed to prevent Runyowa from participating in the gathering.

The case was reported at Chivi Police Station under RRB number 5770498. However, Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa stated that he was not apprised of the case at the time of inquiry.

Runyowa recounted the ordeal to The Mirror, detailing the confrontation with Chidewe and two others at the school premises. “I was attending a meeting at Madyangove Primary, and Kudzai Chidewe and his colleagues approached me. Kudzai is well known in the Growth Point,” he stated.
He continued, “They dragged me into a bush and accused me of causing trouble for people and the ruling party. They assaulted me with open hands, only to be restrained by onlookers. The incident occurred in front of parents and my children, who attend school at Madyangove. Despite being a councilor and having children at the school, they barred me from attending the meeting.”
Runyowa holds the distinction of being the sole elected opposition candidate in Chivi, having contested against Zanu PF candidate, businessman Stoneshed Chikambure. The altercation underscores the ongoing tensions within the district’s political landscape.

Chamisa Makes A Powerful Comeback

By Political Reporter-The country’s most popular and charismatic politician, Nelson Chamisa has reemerged onto the political stage, initiating discussions with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to mediate between himself and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, aiming to resolve Zimbabwe’s political polarization.

A Call to End Inhumane Toll of Air Pollution

By working together and demanding accountability, we can build a world where clean air and a healthy environment are guaranteed for generations to come.Join the call to end the inhumane toll of air pollution.

Passion Java Covers-Up Armed Robbery, Gun Violence With Ambulance Donation

By Showbiz Reporter- Controversial Preacher Passion Java at the weekend, Java donated ambulances to Chitungwiza Central Hospital, just days after his alleged involvement in gun violence and armed robbery at Rainbow Towers.

The timing of this donation has raised eyebrows, especially considering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The altercation reportedly involved Java and another controversial figure, Zanu PF senator Mike Chimombe, who erupted over a dispute involving a Harare businessman, Andrew Manongore.

According to reports, the confrontation stemmed from a disagreement over a girlfriend.

Manongore has since filed a police report at Harare Central police station.

Java confirmed the scuffle at Rainbow Towers to ZimEye and said, “This guy wanted to beat up Mike Chimombe”.

Witnesses claim that the situation escalated when Chimombe allegedly brandished a firearm, leading to the alleged robbery of $18,000 from Manongore. The incident, reportedly captured on CCTV, has stirred controversy and speculation.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Java’s motive may be rooted in personal grievances, particularly regarding socialite Hillary Makaya, whom Manongore is rumoured to have snatched from Java.

Chimombe’s apparent frustration over being labelled as financially destitute by the Harare businessman allegedly fueled the confrontation.

In the aftermath of the incident, Manongore and his guards sought refuge in a nearby toilet before seeking medical attention.

However, despite the gravity of the allegations, neither Java nor Chimombe have been apprehended by authorities.

Java’s decision to donate ambulances amid this controversy has sparked both praise and scepticism from the public.

While some commend his philanthropic efforts, others view it as an attempt to deflect attention from the ongoing investigation.

The public awaits further developments, with questions lingering about the true motivations behind Java’s charitable gesture amidst allegations of violence and robbery.

Zimbabwean Citizen Boldly Declares Nelson Chamisa Will Be President…

By A Correspondent

In a political landscape fraught with uncertainty, one Zimbabwean citizen has boldly proclaimed that Nelson Chamisa will one day ascend to the presidency, defying critics who claim his political ambitions are doomed.

Amidst the fervent chatter of skeptics, Zvidzai Chiorese took to Facebook to voice unwavering confidence in Chamisa’s future leadership.

In a resolute Facebook post, Chiorese declared, “You are going to be the president of Zimbabwe, we can’t tell when but one thing for sure is that it will happen, whether they like it or not.”

This proclamation resonated with the fervor of a true believer, echoing the hopes of many who see Chamisa as a beacon of change in a nation yearning for renewal.Such steadfast support for Chamisa’s presidential aspirations is not isolated.

Nyasha Tatenda, another citizen, expressed admiration for Chamisa’s dedication to the Zimbabwean people, stating, “I am always humbled, Mr. President, sir, the love for the human race and Zimbabweans in particular.

Thank you for being such a pillar to the nation, and we shall conquer someday, and the people will know their president.”

These declarations of faith in Chamisa’s leadership underscore the enduring optimism of Zimbabweans amidst the challenges facing their nation.

Despite political turbulence and economic hardships, Chamisa’s supporters remain steadfast in their belief that he embodies the change needed to steer Zimbabwe towards a brighter future.

However, Chamisa’s path to the presidency is not without obstacles.

Critics point to the entrenched power of the ruling party and the complexities of Zimbabwe’s political landscape as significant hurdles to his ambitions.

Yet, amidst the skepticism, voices like Chiorese and Tatenda’s continue to resonate, serving as reminders of the power of hope and belief in the face of adversity.

In response to such unwavering support, Chamisa remains focused on his vision for Zimbabwe, tirelessly advocating for reform and progress.

His message of unity and inclusivity resonates with many who see him as a unifying figure capable of transcending divisions and leading the nation towards a brighter future.

As Zimbabwe navigates its political journey, the bold declarations of citizens like Chiorese and Tatenda serve as rallying cries for those who dare to dream of a Zimbabwe led by Nelson Chamisa.

Whether or not his presidency becomes a reality remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the fervent belief in his leadership endures, inspiring hope and igniting the flames of change across the nation.

Welshman’s USD25million Loot To Destroy Nelson Chamisa Using Qoki Money?

By Investigative Reporter | PART1: When Professor Welshman Ncube’s political faction initiated its first split in 2005, it struggled to gain legislative support. However, 19 years later, the faction has amassed substantial funds, enabling it to influence Nelson Chamisa’s MPs against him. The source of these funds is controversial, as it is not linked to ZANU PF. The faction has accumulated a $25 million fortune from exploiting Ndebele women through a land scam, orchestrated by Professor Ncube’s official diaspora blogger, Jimmy Chasafara (Ndaba Nhuku), who promised non-existent lands, ZimEye can reveal.

This scam, which Professor Ncube cannot deny knowledge of, was initiated in the events after a meeting on December 15, 2013, by his publicist, Ndaba Nhuku. The program, known as Qoki, claims to be represented by Professor Ncube personally as of March 2024. Both Chasafara (Hatfield) and Sithule Tshuma (Manchester based) have been implicated in the scam, which the Zimbabwean government has labelled a fraud.

The origins of this scheme trace back to the burial of Nelson Mandela, during a function in Sheffield, UK, where the faction sought media support from the ZimEye news network so to compete against the Morgan Tsvangirai/Nelson Chamisa-aligned publicist, Baba Jukwa.

Since 2014, Professor Ncube received significant media coverage from the political media campaign facility, which was quickly branded Qoki in 2017. This program was presented to women as a means to empower the regional population. A decade later, these 550 women have lost an average of $45,000 each, all totalling a $25 million lumpsum, to fraudulent activities involving fake title deeds and false promises. Although some refunds have been issued over the last two years, the majority of the funds remain unaccounted for, leaving the women substantially impoverished.

The situation for these women worsened when they were deceived multiple times by Professor Ncube, whose law firm offered assistance while simultaneously representing the scam’s key figures, Ndaba Nhuku and Sithule Tshuma. This situation underscores the complex layers of involvement, highlighting Professor Welshman Ncube’s inextricable connection to the scam.

ZimEye has multiple recordings, and documented paper trail to show Prof Ncube himself working with the Qoki founder.

-Where is the USD25million Prof Welshman?

-And why are you tripple-dipping Ndebele women?

PROF WELSHMAN NCUBE MUST DENY HIS BENEFIT FROM JIMMY CHASAFARA’S QOKI SCAM.

PART TRANSCRIPT OF MARCH 2023 INTERVIEW:

NN: I am saying you and I if we come together and we say we want to buy land 50/50 shares. We say we’ve bought land and want to put roads… we have bought a farm right? We have bought Umguza farm, we now want 50 houses which we will later sell, and then one says I am pulling out I cam no longer proceed. So, who is going to do the other 50, after I’ve been left alone. Because after I am left alone I’m a longer have resources you were putting in. It means everything has collapsed.

If things have not collapsed I need to get someone to buy your 50% so that we continue with business. So most of these people who come to you are people who have decided not to continue. You decide to not to continue, you will have to sell your property your shares isn’t it? To sell your shares. And if there’s no one wanting to buy, it means that everyone stops working because there’s no one to fund your shares your portion of the money. So it’s not as straightforward as people were coming with bank statement and that because when you are buying you pay. Your bank statements are going to be there because you are buying. I buy using groups and when I do that it means that my bank statements are going to be there, isn’t it? And if I run a loss I run a lot and if I decided to pull out it means that my bank statements are going to be there- I’ve pulled out with or without economy (sic) and the other thing is Zimbabweans all the time why do they love drama when they are leaving something?

SC: when they are leaving leaving as in abandoning?

NN: Yes, when they are leaving, they DON’T WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP, TO SAY THEY HAVE FAILED. They always to blame someone. And even in a relationship when a girl no longer once you she will look for something to say and blame, to say, aaah, I don’t want you because of this and that. The lad blames the other person. But why not just say we have grown out of love? To simply say that I am going out because I no longer have money to continue paying the things required to process this land.

And I always say when you buy land, you are not just buying shares, you are buying collecting effort. You shall construct roads, the sewage, you Sall do surveying. So in the process of all that, WHEN THEY FEEL THAT IT’S TOO EXHAUSTIVE they don’t have resources to continue paying… that today there is money for sewage tomorrow there is this and that; because council will only give hou title deeds after the land has been surveyed, the roads are now there, that’s when the council gives you individual title deeds, people need to know.all those things, but Zimbabweans being Zimbabweans they love to acquire property without understanding the fundamentals.

“… so all the people who go to Qoki they opt in as individuals, they are not forced. There is no coercion, like in a church. You are asked you want to buy land, you want to buy land, you are told, this is what is available guys. Do you want to join? They join on their own.

In land there, there will be 10. 10 women. They won’t be many people.

So it’s not as straight forward as people who come to you complaining, whether they are 100 or what. They just want to use you, if they use you fair and fine. And then people like me will come and defend Sithule.

Because, Qoki, I founded it, and I know the principles behind Qoki I am the founder of them, just like I told Ezra. Qoki is my baby, when I defend it I defend it knowing what is happening inside it, and knowing what. My own sister I told her don’t buy this kind of land. Go and buy your own land individually, because this land takes long to divide, the council wants you to meet certain requirements and its exhausting for an individual to make it. AND ALL THOSE PEOPLE WERE TOLD, that we shall do this, do this, but they like paying small amounts, yes small amounts comes with so many tags, it becomes exhausting, for people who don’t have resources who work. So in a nutshell this is what happens with land bought by groups…”

Mnangagwa In Secret Gimmick To Consolidate Power

Chivhayo Attacks Mukanya, Offers Him Car, House

Showbiz Reporter-Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has publicly attacked Chimurenga legend Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo and extended an offer of a brand new car and a house to him.

The altercation arose after Mukanya voiced his opinion on Chivhayo’s recent spree of gifting expensive cars to celebrities, suggesting that the funds could be better utilised for social services.

Chivhayo’s initiative, suspected to be backed by the ruling ZANU PF party, involves lavishing celebrities with luxury vehicles, sparking widespread debate and speculation.

Taking to his social media platforms, Chivhayo declared his intention to purchase both a car and a house for the renowned Chimurenga musician, who currently resides in the United States.

The offer adds a new layer of controversy to Chivhayo’s philanthropic endeavours as criticisms mount regarding the source and motives behind his extravagant gestures.

As reactions continue to pour in, the clash between Chivhayo and Mukanya underscores deeper tensions within Zimbabwe’s social and political landscape.

Stay tuned for further developments as the story unfolds.

Teachers Announce A 3 Day Strike Over “US$20 Mockery”

By A Correspondent| Teachers under the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU) have announced a three day job action following the National Joint Negotiation Committee (NJNC) which increased salaries of civil servants by US$20.

According to FOZEU, the job action will run from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March.

“The nation is advised of a 3 day job action by teachers running from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March. This is a response to the USD 20 mockery offered by employer as increment on 14 March 2024. Parents & guardians are advised to keep their Children at home for their safety,” said FOZEU.

Last week, NJNC met and agreed to increase salaries of civil servants by US$20, a move that angered the government workforce.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC led by Douglas Mwonzora has also condemned government for failing civil servants.

In a statement, MDC implored government to promote equitable distribution of wealth and protection of the vulnerable in society.

“We implore government to embrace policies rooted in social democracy, which prioritize the equitable distribution of wealth and the protection of the most marginalized members of society,” said MDC.

Chigumba Flies To Russia To Observe Polls

By A Correspondent

Amidst lingering controversy and accusations of electoral misconduct, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has drawn criticism for its recent decision to send a delegation, led by Chairperson Priscilla Chigumba, to observe Russia’s presidential elections.

The move has reignited debates over the integrity and credibility of ZEC, especially in light of allegations of rigging in Zimbabwe’s own elections in 2018 and 2023, purportedly favoring the ruling party Zanu PF and its leader Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The decision to dispatch a ZEC delegation to Moscow, Russia, as part of an election observer mission has sparked widespread skepticism both domestically and internationally.

Many have questioned the rationale behind entrusting an institution facing serious allegations of electoral manipulation with the responsibility of overseeing another nation’s democratic process.

Critics argue that ZEC’s involvement in the Russian elections undermines the legitimacy of the observer mission and casts doubt on the impartiality of its observations.

Given the cloud of controversy surrounding ZEC’s handling of past elections in Zimbabwe, concerns have been raised about the potential for biased assessments or politically motivated endorsements.

The timing of the delegation’s trip to Russia further complicates matters, as it comes at a time when ZEC is grappling with its own credibility crisis at home.

The decision to prioritize participation in an international observer mission, rather than addressing the allegations of electoral fraud and restoring public trust, has fueled frustration among Zimbabweans who are increasingly disillusioned with the electoral process. Moreover, ZEC’s actions risk tarnishing the reputation of election observation missions more broadly.

By allowing a commission mired in controversy to participate in such missions, there is a danger of undermining the legitimacy and effectiveness of international efforts to promote free and fair elections worldwide.

In light of these developments, calls for transparency and accountability within ZEC have grown louder.

Critics argue that meaningful electoral reforms are needed to restore faith in the democratic process and ensure that future elections in Zimbabwe are conducted in a credible and transparent manner.

Without addressing the underlying issues plaguing ZEC, the risk of further electoral malpractice and erosion of public trust looms large.

As the ZEC delegation continues its observation mission in Russia, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on the commission’s actions and its implications for both domestic and international electoral integrity.

The outcome of the Russian elections, and the role of ZEC in assessing their fairness, will undoubtedly shape future debates surrounding electoral governance and democracy in Zimbabwe and beyond.

Greatman Slams Sniper Storm

By A Correspondent

In a recent development, musician Greatman has indirectly criticized fellow artist Donald Chirisa, popularly known as Sniper Storm, for soliciting controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo to purchase him a car.

Notably, musicians affiliated with Zanu PF are reportedly reaping benefits from Chivayo’s spree of buying vehicles.

Greatman took to Facebook to express his sentiments, stating, “Ummmm guys, are we not doing too much here? Some things need to be done modestly.”

Meanwhile, Sniper Storm passionately appealed to Chivayo for assistance in acquiring a car through a heartfelt message:”

Hello @sir_wicknell, Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude for the significant contributions you have made in various initiatives, including those in Masowe and supporting Zanu PF through music and other endeavors.

I have observed that the situation is tough, but…With your words, you often say, ‘If you can, help those who work tirelessly.’

I have been diligently working alongside the Zanu PF party for many years, participating in National Galas, rallies, creating songs and jingles for events, and supporting various MPs and the President himself during elections.

My dedication remains unwavering.I am a true member of the party and have served with utmost loyalty.

Among comrades, there are those who have risen through the ranks alongside me, but I refrain from mentioning names.

Silence can sometimes be mistaken for complacency, but here I stand, witnessing how some loyal members suffer in silence and perish in neglect.

DeMbare Fans Blast Genesis Mangombe

Dynamos fans yesterday demanded for coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe’s sacking as the Harare giants squandered a 2-goal lead to eventually settle for a share of the spoils with Hwange at Babourfields Stadium.

DeMbare yet to win a game this season.

The Harare giants lost the Castle Challenge Cup to defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, before they were beaten by rivals Highlanders at Babourfields in their opening league match last week.

Dynamos fans, characteristically, are starting to lose patience with Mangombe.

They (DeMbare fans) sang songs demanding for Mangombe’s exit after the Hwange stalemate and the youthful coach admitted it’s understable.

“It’s a game of football, and we have to accept some of these things. As a coach, you know these guys need results. So, if they are not getting results they are disappointed and we allow them to do that,” Mangombe said in his post-match interview.

“When we are winning, they will sing Kaka is a good coach. So, what l need to do is to motivate my boys to do better in the next assignment. Maybe, in the third game, we are going to make it,” he added.

DeMbare face Yadah next and worryingly for Mangombe, the duo of Issa Sadiki and Tanaka Shandirwa —who are on loan from the Miracle Boys, will not play against their parent club.

Kwahi Amai VaWicknell Chivayo Vanga Varimu Beitbridge Accident?, Ayewa!

By Dorrothy Moyo | In the shadows of a sprawling urban landscape, where the lines between affluence and despair blur, the story of Wicknell Chivayo unfolds—a tale that bridges the chasm between unfettered opulence and heart-wrenching tragedy. Wicknell, a man whose name had become synonymous with extravagance and controversy, found his fortunes entwined with the fate of Beitbridge, a community perched on the edge of hope and despair.

Beitbridge, a place where the sun scorches the earth and the wind whispers tales of yore, was a town that thrived on dreams. Its heart, Beitbridge Hospital, stood as a beacon of hope, a sanctuary where the ailing sought solace and healing. Yet, the hospital’s lifeline, electricity, was as fragile as the flicker of a candle in the wind, a reality that became a crucible for tragedy.

Wicknell, once hailed as a savior, had been entrusted with a monumental task—to electrify the hospital, to banish the darkness with the light of progress. Millions had flowed through his hands, a torrent of promise and potential. But the light never came. Instead, the money vanished into the abyss of extravagance, a testament to human folly and greed.

It was on a day like any other that fate, with its cruel sense of irony, wove a tapestry of horror. A bus, carrying souls eager to traverse the distances between loved ones and dreams, met with catastrophe near Beitbridge. The accident was a maelstrom of steel and screams, a moment frozen in time where life hung in the balance.

As the wounded were rushed to the hospital, the reality of Wicknell’s actions came crashing down like a thunderbolt. The very institution that was meant to be a citadel of hope in such times of despair was crippled, its ability to save lives dimmed by the absence of electricity. Among the victims were whispers of a connection to Wicknell—relatives, perhaps, or acquaintances, bound by blood or fate to the man whose actions had cast a long shadow over their moment of need.

In the dimly lit corridors of Beitbridge Hospital, where the hum of generators filled the air with a desperate pulse, the truth lay bare. Wicknell, ensconced in his world of luxury, was haunted by the specters of his choices. The accident, a tragic tapestry of fate and consequence, served as a mirror reflecting the stark reality of his deeds.

As the community rallied around the victims, a collective resolve emerged from the ashes of tragedy. The incident became a catalyst for change, a clarion call that echoed across the plains of Beitbridge. For Wicknell, the road to redemption was steep, a journey fraught with the realization that his actions had consequences far beyond the glittering facade of wealth.

In the end, the story of Wicknell Chivayo and the Beitbridge bus accident serves as a somber reminder of the delicate balance between prosperity and responsibility. It is a tale that whispers the timeless truth that our actions are like stones thrown into a pond, their ripples touching shores unseen, in ways we can scarcely imagine.

Chamisa Spotted In Chivi

By Staff Reporter- Charismatic opposition leader Nelson Chamisa this weekend attended the funeral of senior citizen Mbuya Petronella Mukwende in Chivi.

Posting on his X account Sunday, Chamisa said:

Laying to rest our Mother and a great Citizen, the late Petronella Mukwende, 80 years. She was a community leader, church leader, social worker and citizens mobilizer. Women are the pillars of society. RIP Gogo Mukwende.

Chitungwiza Corruption Scandal: Town Bosses Caught in Unsolicited Home Visit

By A Correspondent | Chitungwiza has been rocked by fresh allegations of corruption following an unsolicited visit to a citizen’s home by town council officials currently under investigation. The incident, which took place on March 16, 2024, has sparked outrage and prompted urgent calls for clarity and justice from the local community.

A concerned resident of Chitungwiza, in a detailed letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing and copied to several key oversight bodies, recounted the unsettling experience. “Pursuant to my letter of complaint against the above named Chitungwiza Town Council official and four others dated 04/03/2024…I would like to express my utmost displeasure on the conduct of the aforementioned members who came to my place of residence this date 16/03/2024 without prior notice,” the letter begins, setting the stage for a troubling narrative.

The officials, led by Mr. Tangwa and accompanied by six others, reportedly arrived in a white, single cab vehicle registered to the Chitungwiza Municipality. The homeowner described the group’s approach as highly irregular, noting their failure to identify themselves or explain their presence. “These officials did not identify themselves and neither did they state their purpose of the visit to my place of residence let alone even greeting my 75-year-old mother who is a senior citizen and the owner of the premises showing utmost disrespect towards her.”

Further exacerbating concerns, the letter alleges that the officials discussed tampering with evidence related to their investigation in front of the household, blatantly disregarding the law and the ongoing inquiry into their conduct. The visit also included unauthorised repair work on water pipes, raising questions about the officials’ motives and the legitimacy of their activities.

The homeowner’s letter poses critical questions to the authorities, including whether officials under investigation are permitted to continue their duties, the appropriateness of their working outside normal hours on non-urgent tasks, and the protocol surrounding the use of municipal vehicles for such visits. “I don’t believe that these officials are working in earnest since my personal rights, family rights, and property rights have been infringed by these officials as the matter is still under investigation,” the letter states, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

This alarming episode has underscored the need for transparency and accountability within the Chitungwiza Town Council. The community awaits answers and actions from the relevant authorities, hoping this will mark a turning point towards restoring trust and integrity in local governance. As the investigation proceeds, the eyes of Chitungwiza and beyond remain fixed on the unfolding developments, with many demanding expedited efforts to bring the matter to a close and ensure such breaches of trust are not repeated.

Dumped Bulawayo Man Petrol-Bombs Girlfriend’s House

By State Media- An angry Bulawayo man has petrol-bombed his ex-lover’s lodgings after his girlfriend dumped him.

The incident occurred this weekend when screams woke up the landlord, Mr Clifford Nyathi, as his house was going down in flames after his tenant, Ms Sikhangezile Moyo’s former lover, only identified as Albert, had started a fire. Mr Nyathi told Sunday News that they suspected that Albert was irked by the termination of his relationship with Ms Moyo.

“This morning (Saturday) at around 4.30am to 5am, I was awakened by the screams of two women who are my tenants, a mother and her daughter. They said there was fire at their door and the smoke had engulfed the place. The fire was coming from outside and as we attempted to pour water to put out the fire, it only got worse.

“Albert who had started the fire outside, kept on pouring a certain liquid, which we believe was fuel, possibly petrol. We did not know who it was until Ms Moyo peeped through the window and saw that it was his ex-lover,” he said.

He said Albert had used plastics and clothes that he took from a neighbour’s house, as well as theirs that were on the washing line outside and set them on fire on his door.

Mr Nyathi said they believe the motive of Albert’s action was to try and make those in the house respond and open the door for him.

“We did not open the door and that is why he ended up throwing it just in front of the door. From what he left behind, I have evidence that it was some kind of petrol bomb as I picked it up from where he threw it, it did not burn completely,” he said.

Mr Nyathi said the fire was successfully extinguished by neighbours, who quickly responded to the scene as the screams continued.

Mr Nyathi, said Albert had previous violent incidents with Ms Moyo, while earlier this month he vandalised his property, breaking windows and doors as well as trying to violently attack his tenant with a machete.

“Albert has a criminal history, as he has been incarcerated multiple times, serving a five-year sentence for cattle rustling in the rural areas. We reported the matter to the police, however, his whereabouts are unknown as he ran away when the neighbours came to intervene,” he said.

He said he made a report to the police although they could not be reached for a comment.

Climate Change: Time To Focus On Way Forward

By A Correspondent

Climate change, fuelled by various activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, is a heavy toll on the planet.

From rising temperatures to extreme weather events, the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent and dire. One of the most visible consequences of climate change is the warming of the planet.

Average global temperatures have been steadily rising, leading to melting ice caps, shrinking glaciers, and rising sea levels. These changes not only threaten ecosystems and biodiversity but also put coastal communities at risk of flooding and displacement.Extreme weather events, including hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires, are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change.

These events not only cause immediate devastation but also have long-lasting economic and social impacts, disrupting livelihoods and exacerbating poverty and inequality.
