100 Fake UK-based Zim Care Sponsors Exposed By ZimEye Lose Licences

By Health Reporter- Over 100 UK-based Zimbabwean-owned private social care companies, most of whose fraudulent activities had been exposed by ZimEye, have lost their licenses.

This startling revelation not only puts the livelihoods of Zimbabwean nationals working in the UK care sector at risk but also raises the spectre of potential deportation.

The revoked licenses have placed these blocklisted private social care providers in a precarious position, rendering them unable to recruit workers from other countries.

The crackdown comes in response to numerous violations of regulations by these providers, including failure to report essential changes related to the workers they sponsored.

A litany of common mistakes proved detrimental to the providers, encompassing the failure to report changes in the employment status of sponsored workers, lapses in nurse registration, and neglecting organizational changes such as alterations in registration or accreditation.

Furthermore, inadequate record-keeping practices, such as failing to retain copies of work permits and background checks, exacerbated the situation.

Compounding matters, providers were found negligent in verifying the work rights of their employees and tracking visa expiration dates.

For individuals seeking information about the status of their sponsor’s license, a dedicated website has been set up: licensed-sponsors-uk.com/sponsors.

The UK Home Office has outlined the stringent consequences for workers whose employers lose their sponsor licenses.

Those already in the UK face immediate challenges, with the cancellation of their certificate of sponsorship and a visa restriction to 60 days or the remaining validity of their current visa, if less than 60 days.

Failure to initiate a new visa application within this period necessitates departure from both the job and the country.

In cases where a sponsor’s license is suspended, the impact on workers hinges on their employment status and visa applications.

Those yet to commence work can proceed as planned, while those already employed can continue their duties.

However, visa extensions remain in limbo until the suspension concludes.

The situation becomes direr if a sponsor’s business undergoes a takeover or fails to renew its license.

In such instances, workers face a 60-day visa limit or the remaining duration if less than 60 days.

Failure to secure a new sponsor license application within 28 days of a takeover mandates job termination and potential deportation unless a new visa application is submitted promptly.

For individuals who have yet to travel to the UK but possess permission to do so, a canceled visa awaits, accompanied by entry restrictions.

In light of these drastic changes, affected individuals must act promptly to secure alternative sponsors within the stipulated timeframes to avert the looming threat of deportation.

Immediate action is imperative to navigate this complex and challenging situation in the UK’s care sector.

Security and Trust: Ensuring Safe Withdrawals on Betting Platforms

In the realm of online betting, security and trust are paramount considerations for users when it comes to withdrawing their funds. With the proliferation of online betting platforms, users seek reassurance that their financial transactions are conducted securely and that their funds are protected from unauthorized access and fraudulent activities. In this article, we’ll explore the importance of security and trust in ensuring safe withdrawals on betting platforms, examining the measures implemented by operators to safeguard user funds and foster a secure betting environment.

The Significance of Safe Withdrawals

Withdrawals are a critical aspect of the online betting experience, allowing users to access their winnings and manage their funds effectively. For users, the ability to withdraw funds securely and expediently is a fundamental expectation when engaging with betting platforms. Safe withdrawals instill confidence among users, foster trust in the platform, and contribute to a positive user experience. The withdrawal procedure on Bet9ja Nigeria is considered one of the most popular in the betting industry for its ease of use and consistency and clarity of every component of their interface, as well as the highly regarded security measures of the system.

Robust Security Measures

Betting platforms employ a range of security measures to protect user funds and ensure the integrity of withdrawal transactions. These measures include:

1. Encryption Protocols: Betting platforms utilize encryption protocols, such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, to encrypt sensitive data transmitted between users’ devices and the platform’s servers. This encryption ensures that withdrawal requests and financial information remain secure and protected from interception by unauthorized parties.

2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Many betting platforms offer 2FA as an additional layer of security for user accounts. By requiring users to provide a second form of authentication, such as a unique code sent to their mobile device, 2FA helps prevent unauthorized access to user accounts and enhances overall account security.

3. Secure Payment Gateways: Betting platforms partner with reputable payment service providers and utilize secure payment gateways to facilitate withdrawal transactions. These payment gateways adhere to industry-leading security standards and employ advanced fraud detection and prevention mechanisms to safeguard user funds and mitigate risks associated with financial transactions.

4. Identity Verification: To prevent identity theft and fraudulent activity, betting platforms may require users to undergo identity verification procedures before processing withdrawal requests. This verification process typically involves providing identification documents, such as a government-issued ID or passport, to confirm the user’s identity and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Transparent Withdrawal Policies

Transparent withdrawal policies are essential for building trust and confidence among users. Betting platforms should clearly communicate their withdrawal procedures, processing times, and any applicable fees or limits to users upfront. Transparent policies help manage user expectations, reduce ambiguity, and ensure that users have a clear understanding of the withdrawal process.

Compliance with Regulatory Standards

Betting platforms must adhere to regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to financial transactions and user data protection. Regulatory authorities impose guidelines and regulations to safeguard user funds, prevent money laundering, and ensure the integrity of financial transactions conducted on betting platforms. By complying with regulatory standards, betting platforms demonstrate their commitment to operating with integrity and transparency, thereby enhancing user trust and confidence.

User Education and Support

Educating users about safe withdrawal practices and providing access to comprehensive support resources are essential components of fostering a secure betting environment. Betting platforms should offer educational materials, FAQs, and support channels to help users navigate the withdrawal process, address common concerns, and seek assistance if needed. By empowering users with knowledge and support, betting platforms empower users to make informed decisions and navigate the withdrawal process with confidence.

Fraud Prevention and Risk Management

Betting platforms employ robust fraud prevention and risk management strategies to detect and mitigate potential threats to user funds. These strategies may include monitoring user activity for suspicious behavior, implementing transaction monitoring systems, and conducting regular audits and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and address potential risks proactively. By investing in fraud prevention and risk management measures, betting platforms bolster user confidence and mitigate the likelihood of financial loss due to fraudulent activity.

Security and trust are paramount considerations when it comes to ensuring safe withdrawals on betting platforms. By implementing robust security measures, maintaining transparent withdrawal policies, complying with regulatory standards, educating users, and investing in fraud prevention and risk management, betting platforms can create a secure environment where users feel confident in withdrawing their funds. Ultimately, prioritizing security and trust is essential for fostering a positive user experience, building long-term relationships with users, and sustaining trust and confidence in the online betting ecosystem.

No Talks Outside POLAD With CCC Leader Nelson Chamisa: Zanu PF Hardliners

By A Correspondent

In the ever-evolving political landscape of Zimbabwe, the hardliners within Zanu PF have made their stance clear: no talks with CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa outside the framework of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).

This declaration, echoed through Zanu PF Varakashi’s Facebook post, underscores the party’s commitment to engage with opposition forces exclusively within the established political platform. The post by Zanu PF Varakashi on Facebook reflects the sentiment prevailing among party hardliners.

The terse message, “What talks… Join POLAD Nelson Chamisa,” encapsulates the rigid stance adopted by this faction of Zanu PF.

The emphasis on POLAD as the sole avenue for dialogue with Chamisa sends a clear message that the party is not willing to engage in discussions outside the structured political framework.

POLAD, established in 2018 as a platform for dialogue between political parties, has been a source of contention within Zimbabwean politics.

While it aims to foster unity and cooperation among various political actors, critics argue that it may not provide a truly inclusive space for dialogue.

The Zanu PF hardliners’ insistence on conducting talks solely within POLAD may reflect a desire to control the narrative and maintain a level of oversight over discussions.

President Nelson Chamisa, leading the opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), has been a key figure in Zimbabwean politics, challenging the status quo and advocating for political reforms.

The refusal by Zanu PF hardliners to engage in talks outside POLAD may be a strategic move to confine discussions to a controlled environment, limiting the potential for broad-based negotiations.

The dynamics between Zanu PF and CCC have been marked by historical tensions, and the recent declaration from the hardliners further highlights the challenges in achieving consensus and genuine reconciliation.

The call for Chamisa to join POLAD can be seen as an invitation to participate in structured dialogue, but it also reinforces the party’s reluctance to engage in informal or alternative avenues of negotiation.

As Zimbabwe continues to navigate its political landscape, the standoff between Zanu PF hardliners and the CCC leader raises questions about the effectiveness of POLAD as a platform for fostering meaningful dialogue.

The willingness of both parties to find common ground and explore alternative avenues for communication will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of Zimbabwean politics.

In the coming weeks, observers will be closely watching how President Nelson Chamisa responds to the Zanu PF hardliners’ firm position.

The unfolding events may provide insights into the potential for constructive dialogue, the role of established political platforms, and the overall trajectory of Zimbabwean politics in the quest for a more inclusive and participatory democracy.

Land Dispute Erupts in Nyatsime Amidst Claims of Ownership

By A Correspondent | Nyatsime – A contentious land dispute has erupted in the Nyatsime area, bringing to light sharp divisions within the local community and political representatives. Former A2 farmers have come forward with claims that the Nyatsime land rightfully belongs to them, directly challenging the majority of residents who have legally purchased their properties through the Chitungwiza Municipality.

The conflict has led to noticeable tensions within the ZANU PF party, particularly among councillors in wards 9, 10, and 12. Residents are finding themselves at odds with A2 farmers, the ZANU PF district chair, and the once-revered former councillor, Masimbi Masimbi. Adding fuel to the fire is the involvement of a controversial figure introduced by Masimbi and his team, referred to by the community as a “bogus” developer. This individual is reportedly demanding development fees from residents, exacerbating the already strained situation.

The dispute highlights the complexities surrounding land ownership and development rights in the region. The A2 farming scheme, part of Zimbabwe’s land reform program, has been a subject of contention in the past, leading to similar conflicts in other areas.

By the time of writing, residents had been urged to join a community group that formed to coordinate insights into the saga and to discuss possible resolutions. The group aims to bring together affected parties, including residents, local authorities, and representatives from both sides of the conflict, to facilitate dialogue and find a peaceful solution to the dispute.

As the situation develops, there are growing concerns about the potential for this dispute to disrupt the local community’s peace and stability. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are underway to mediate between the conflicting parties.

They Want To Kill Me : Tshabangu

By A Correspondent

In a startling turn of events, Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-declared Secretary of the CCC (Citizens’ Coalition for Change), has recently voiced concerns over his safety, claiming that senior party members are plotting against him.

Tshabangu has accused Hon Amos Chibaya of threatening him.

Tshabangu disclosed his apprehensions, stating, “I don’t know what his problem is. Amos Chibaya continuously calls me with different numbers, intimidating me, but I’m not shaken whatsoever.

I’m quite prepared to face whatever comes my way, and I stand resolute to the founding principles of our Tsvangirai-led Opposition movement.”

The allegations have raised eyebrows within the political landscape, as the CCC has been gaining momentum as a prominent opposition force.

The party, led by Nelson Chamisa, emerged in response to the political dynamics in Zimbabwe, aiming to challenge the status quo.

Tshabangu’s claims hint at a deep-seated conflict that has now come to the forefront, jeopardizing the credibility of the party’s leadership.

Amos Chibaya, the accused party member, has not issued an official response to these allegations at the time of writing.

Political analysts suggest that the public airing of internal disputes could have detrimental effects on the party’s image.

The CCC, born out of the legacy of the late Morgan Tsvangirai, has positioned itself as a beacon of change in Zimbabwean politics. However, if internal conflicts persist, the party risks losing the trust and support of its followers.

Talent Chiwenga also began claiming Howard Nyoni is a disgruntled former member of his cult, JRM- Jesus Revelation Ministries, when such a thing has never happened. Nyoni was a panelist in a news discussion with Chiwenga in Nov 2017, during the times Talent Chiwenga was seeking publicity through the news network.

One of the young girls Talent Chiwenga raped is his own wife’s younger sister, Tariro Mafuka (+27 62 583 1***, we release the number as there is a criminal investigation for murder), he later secretly married more than 3 years before the accident that killed his wife, Rejoice. He would after that date, secretly drive her back to Zimbabwe from South Africa where she has been since the secret marriage, years before.

Sought for a comment over the last 3 years, Talent Chiwenga has declined responding only to resort to video streams on his church portal where he has constantly avoided the issue of his sex attacks against women and his overspeeding in Masvingo road which killed his wife, Rejoice.

In his first accident, in which he has accused Emmerson Mnangagwa, he was rescued by a top notorious ZANU PF he calls a good Samaritan, Mr Seviyas Piki, and in the 2nd one, he was rescued by an unnamed driver in a white vehicle that quickly whisked him away from the accident scene.

Meanwhile, Chiwenga says he has suffered assassination attempts in the last two accidents which have happened between 2019 and 2020.

In his own words, Talent Chiwenga says he was overspeeding for no valid reason when his wife was killedin the Masvingo-Mvuma road VIDEO, FULL TEXT

The below is a full compilation of Talent Chiwenga’s own words between June and November 2019 speaking on LIVE camera giving details on his allegations.

In his own video, recorded inside hospital less than a day after the accident, the preacher loudly says that he was speeding (in a 60km speed limit zone) at 120 kmeters per hour and he even wanted to accelerate beyond 120km for no other reason other than to rush to Harare and purchase a new fan belt for his car. No one was chasing after him. He then collided with an oncoming haulage truck and three people died as a result of the collision (accident video below).

Speaking during a church service, Talent Chiwenga said, ” I had a friend in Eugene Kanyuchi. I am sure many of you you know him. He served me in the work of Christ in the protocol department. And I had Mai Vhurumuko, and I think you all know her, you all knew her. VIDEO ( The story continues below)…

“I faced death with those 2 people for as long as they were in the ministry. A week before we drove to South Africa I sat down with both of them and I said to them- you are following me everywhere I am going, I am in danger because in those three weeks before the accident we had a lot of incidents where death threats continued to come.

“I am sure you still remember at First Street when there was a message that came: run away they are going to come to kill you. And I said I am not going to run. Because I cannot run away from death death is something that nobody can run away from. So I sat with her husband and Mai Vhurumuku, and Baba Vhurumuku is not here, he works outside the country, and I told them there is death that is imminent; we knew about it it, we wrote a letter to president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“And I told them that I was going to deliver that letter. The two of them, they volunteered to go with me, and I said if I don’t come back what happens to you?

“They said we will then not come back all of us. Vari vaviri, Baba Kanyuchi naMai Vhurumuku, ndaiti ndakavaudza kuti Vhangeri iyi ine vavengi vakawanda, ichasvika panguva yekuti tichafanirwa kuifira, vaiti, ” we are ready to die for the gospel.”

“Hapana anga aine rwendo rwekuenda kuSouth Africa pahu two hwavo. They volunteered to go with me. Three times in South Africa Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I saw a vision somebody was pointing a gun at me and I was being shot. And I was dying in that vision and then I was seeing myself dying when I was standing on the other side, and I told Baba Kanyuchi, I told Mai Chiwenga, this is what is going to happen, I am not comfortable something is about to happen. And they said let the will of the lord prevail.

“Our greatest challenge is when that time comes in our lives are we going to be holding our faith like they did? That is why we cannot count their departure, as a loss, it is not them that lost, it is us who lost. We lost an opportunity to go in good time, murikundinzwa here vadikani? Takashaiwa mukana wekuenda, zvichakanaka. So I just want to remind you that the people that do not believe do not understand their level, their carnal level, their corruptible level, their crooked level, we know what you are aiming for, we know the Lord, we know the Lord is coming. We know we shall be vindicated. We know we shall be justified. We know the gospel is going to go on. We know nobody is going to stop the gospel. We know nothing is going to stop the gospel.

“Not even the murderers, not even the politicians. Not even the CIO, not even the army, they will not stop this gospel. They can kill me today but they can’t kill the gospel.

“Tell your neighbour: they can kill me today but they can’t kill the gospel. The gospel cannot be killed because not even a bullet can reach close to the gospel. It is spiritual it is not physical.

“The AK47 kana CZ Pistol, inogona kuuraya nyama, asi mweya haigone kuuraya. So we just want to observe a moment of silence, but I want us us to first of all read this whole passage, in Phillipians chapter 1, let me read it up to verse 30. And then we observed a moment of silence to remind ourselves that there is a burden that lies squarely on our shoulders, to uphold the faith and to the very end, like our comrades did. They are our comrades, they are our heroes. They are heroes of faith, they stood firm for the gospel, and we have got to do the same. If we walk away from the faith, we are disappointing them. Hallelujah, Jesus is counting on us to stand firm unto the very end. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

What happened after the mother in law defied the threats and continued boldly speaking? Nothing happened to her, and the legal papers were never actioned.

Mwonzora Divides NERA

By Political Reporter- There is discord at the recently revived National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) after leaders of the opposition parties forming the political platform suspect MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora of pushing personal agendas.

Mwonzora was appointed the spokesperson of NERA last week.

Several politicians in NERA believe that MDC-T leader is attempting to revive his waning political career by reinventing himself as the leader of opposition parties.
On January 18, several political party representatives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Harare and on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, NERA members will be in Bulawayo to meet political leaders in Matabeleland to complete the signing process.
However, some politicians claim Mwonzora “is clutching at straws after losing relevance in terms of genuine politics” and question “what reforms will NERA implement that the opposition failed to effect in Parliament.”
They further warned that opposition parties must “avoid hopping into bed with weird partners and shady characters.”
Other parties, such as ZAPU, have chosen not to participate in NERA and are ‘upset’ that their leader, Sibanagilizwe Nkomo, was elected Secretary for Policy and Research without the party’s consent or notification prior to the public unveiling of the new NERA executive.
“ZAPU did not sign the MoU. Our participation was aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding as has always been the case in situations like this, but our decision not to sign the MoU reflects our commitment to independent decision-making as a party under the guidance of our National Executive Council,” said ZAPU Deputy Spokesperson Washington Jamela who indicated ZAPU attended the NERA meetings “as a gesture of collaboration for the betterment of Zimbabwe.”
Jamela said ZAPU remains dedicated to the democratic process and will continue to engage in initiatives that align with our principles and vision for Zimbabwe’s future.
“However, it is mischievous, misleading and wrong on the part of the NERA organisers to assign a task to our president knowing clearly that we are not a member of that organisation,” he said.
In an interview with CITE, Mwonzora said the opposition parties decided to revive NERA after last year’s August election, seeing a need to challenge the new delimitation process.
“It became necessary for political actors to find one another and after the August elections, we started serious discussions about revising NERA and on 18 January 2024, we signed the first batch of politicians and civil society. We are now targeting the political leaders in Matabeleland for them to complete the signing process,” he said.
“After which we are going into the business of NERA, which is to advocate for electoral reform in the country.”
Mwonzora dismissed claims that he was trying to rebrand his political career, saying “people are always going to criticise others when they try to do something beneficial for the country.”
“It is clear this country needs electoral reforms and those people who are criticising us have done nothing towards electoral reform. This issue of electoral reform was open to anybody who wanted. The fact that we have come up and we are trying to revive this, will always find condemnation.”
The MDC-T leader admitted he had also heard reports that NERA was receiving funding from Zanu PF but said it was false.
“I don’t know to what end, but this criticism will always come. Haters will always be there, but what is important is we must do what is in the best interests of our country and right now our country needs electoral reforms,” Mwonzora said.
Regarding ZAPU’s concern of being ‘dragged’ into NERA, Mwonzora stated, “the positions that were announced at the first meeting are proposals, and the individual leaders are free to take them up or not.”
“ZAPU was actually represented in Harare. We are not so sure how they deal with their representation, but it was represented. We don’t think there is any objection to ZAPU taking part in electoral reforms. But we are yet to hear from them,” said the MDC-T leader.
He also acknowledged that there was a possibility of infiltration in NERA but hoped that “everybody is genuine.”
“A lot happens in Zimbabwe. I cannot vouch for individuals, whether those in NERA or outside NERA for that matter. There are people with questionable dealings in this country who are outside NERA so right now we are bound by the MoU that we signed as the political parties. We cannot tell who is genuine and who is not at this point in time,” Mwonzora said.
NERA was formed in 2015 to specifically deal with the absence of electoral reforms in 2013 such as disputed elections, and electoral malpractices such as violence and fraud among others.
“NERA involved more than one political party and its first engagement was with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) when it was still under Justice Rita Makarau. NERA negotiated for the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system and also went on to take part in the procurement of the machinery and infrastructure,” said Mwonzora.
However, NERA died naturally in 2018 as a result of succession issues within the MDC-T following the death of leader Morgan Tsvangirai, Mwonzora added, noting that electoral reform remains absent.

Mwonzora Faces Coup At NERA

Total Lawlessness As Mnangagwa Appoints Health Minister’s Wife to Head Public Service Commission

By Farai D Hove | In a move that has raised eyebrows and sparked concerns over the principles of separation of powers, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has approved the appointment of Dr. Millicent Sibongile Mombeshora as a Commissioner of the Public Service Commission. This decision, outlined in terms of Section 202(1)(b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with Section 320, has ignited debates on potential conflicts of interest.

Dr. Millicent S. Mombeshora, the wife of the Health Minister, brings a wealth of qualifications and experience to the role, holding undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Economics, Finance, Strategic Management, Marketing, and Business Management from institutions in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the USA. Her extensive background spans various sectors in Zimbabwe, including information, banking, bank supervision, agriculture, and public administration and management.

Her involvement as a chairperson and board member in various State-owned Enterprises and Parastatals, as well as her roles in the Zimbabwe Media Commission and the Prisons and Correctional Service Commission, has been highlighted. Critics argue that this breadth of experience still raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest, particularly given her close association with the Health Minister.

While the announcement emphasizes Dr. Mombeshora’s knowledge and diverse experience, questions loom over the implications of appointing a person with familial ties to a key government official. The move has ignited discussions about the need to uphold the principles of separation of powers, a cornerstone of democratic governance.

The controversy surrounding the appointment is further intensified by the fact that Dr. Mombeshora’s term as Commissioner is set to commence on February 1, 2024. This swift transition has left little room for public scrutiny and has heightened suspicions about the transparency of the selection process.

As citizens and political observers express concerns over potential conflicts and the need for unbiased governance, this appointment adds fuel to ongoing debates about the role of familial connections and political affiliations in key government positions. The decision has sparked a call for transparency and accountability in the appointment process, as many hope for clarity regarding the rationale behind Dr. Mombeshora’s swift elevation to the Public Service Commission.

CCC Challenges ZEC’s Election Bar Claims, Pledges Supreme Court Appeal

By A Correspondent| The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has vehemently rejected Zimbabwe Election Commission’s (ZEC) recent announcement that their candidates are barred from the 3 February by-elections.

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi not only refuted ZEC’s claims as false, inaccurate, and premature but also emphasized the party’s commitment to pursuing a legal appeal within the specified timeframe.

“The statement by ZEC alleging that our candidates have been barred is baseless. We have ample time to file our appeal with the Supreme Court, as mandated by the law. Our candidates, voters, supporters, and the public should continue with their campaigns and preparations as planned and scheduled,” said Mkwananzi.

In a call for ZEC to maintain independence and objectivity, Mkwananzi urged the electoral body to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism while expressing concern over the potential impact of its premature announcement on the credibility of the electoral process, citing past concerns raised by the opposition, civil society, and electoral observer missions during the disputed August 23, 2023, general elections.

“The Zimbabwe Election Commission must exercise caution and uphold its credibility as a fair arbiter in national electoral contests. Premature actions in matters of national significance only serve to erode public trust,” Mkwananzi emphasized.

ZEC had earlier stated that a High Court ruling on January 19, 2024, nullified the candidature of five CCC members.

The CCC, however, maintains that they will pursue legal avenues to challenge this decision and ensure their candidates’ participation in the upcoming by-elections. The political landscape remains tense as both sides navigate the legal intricacies surrounding the contested candidatures.

Disgraceful Parliament Seminar Continues With Mnangagwa’s Girlfriend In Attendance | FULL STORY

No shame…Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend, Virginia Mabhiza (extreme right)

By Dorrothy Moyo | Today is day 2, as the parliament of Zimbabwe continues its seminar in Victoria Falls with president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend in attendance.

The scenario of an Attorney General in a romantic relationship with the President, as one might interpret from the amendments in Zimbabwe’s Attorney-General’s Office Act of 2020, presents significant risks to the integrity of the legal system. It poses a threat to the separation of powers, judicial independence, and the democratic principles at the core of governance.

Parliament is in Victoria Falls for the development of the 7th Institutional Strategic Plan (ISP) to cover the life of the 10th Parliament which runs from 2024 to 2028. The ISP is expected to provide strategic direction and enhance Parliamentary efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness in the achievement of its constitutional mandate.

It leaves to be seen if parliament will have power to challenge Mrs Virginia Mabhiza’s appointment amid – The Perils of Political and Personal Entanglements: Analyzing the Risks of an Attorney General in a Romantic Relationship with the President

In the realm of governance and law, the separation of powers and the independence of judicial entities are paramount. The Attorney General (AG), as the chief legal advisor to the government, plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the administration of justice is free from undue influence. However, this balance of power and impartiality can be severely disrupted when the AG is in a romantic relationship with the President, as hypothetically imagined in a situation like the amended Attorney-General’s Office Act of Zimbabwe, 2020.

The Collision of Personal and Professional Roles

When the AG is romantically involved with the President, several concerns arise:

  1. Conflict of Interest: The AG’s primary role is to act as a legal advisor to the government and uphold the law. A romantic relationship with the President could lead to a conflict between personal loyalty and professional duty, potentially resulting in biased legal advice.
  2. Lack of Oversight: Typically, an AG’s actions and decisions are subject to oversight and accountability mechanisms. However, in a romantic relationship with the President, these checks and balances might be undermined, leading to unchecked power.
  3. Public Perception and Trust: The credibility of the legal system relies heavily on public perception. A relationship between the AG and the President could erode public trust in the impartiality and independence of the legal system.

Constitutional and Legal Implications

The Zimbabwean constitution, like many others, is built on the separation of powers and the independence of judiciary branches. The AG’s role, as defined in the Attorney-General’s Office Amendment Act, 2020, emphasizes independence and the need to uphold the rule of law. A romantic relationship with the President may:

  1. Undermine the Separation of Powers: Such a relationship could blur the lines between the executive and the judiciary, leading to a concentration of power that is antithetical to democratic principles.
  2. Threaten Judicial Independence: The independence of the AG is crucial for fair legal proceedings and legislation. A personal relationship with the head of the executive branch could jeopardize this independence.

National and International Repercussions

The implications of such a situation extend beyond the borders of a single nation:

  1. National Governance: The effectiveness of democratic governance within the country could be compromised, leading to potential abuses of power and a decline in the rule of law.
  2. International Relations: The perception of a country’s commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law is vital in international relations. Such a scenario could harm the country’s international reputation and its relationships with other nations and international bodies.

Such a situation underscores the importance of maintaining clear boundaries between personal relationships and professional roles in the highest offices of government.

Villagers Detained For Allegedly Settling On Dam Basin

By A Correspondent| More than 60 villagers have been set free after they were arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers and charged for allegedly contravening the Water Act by reportedly settling along the banks of Mutirikwi Dam, in Masvingo province, where they had been residing for more than 20 years.

The 66 villagers, who include some aged over 70 years, and were represented by Frank Chirairo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, were arrested on Monday 22 January 2024 by ZRP officers, who charged them with settling within a prohibited dam basin as defined in section 56(20) of the Water Act.

Prosecutors alleged that the 66 villagers unlawfully held, used or occupied Lake Mutirikwi basin, which is a prohibited dam basin.

The prosecutors, who stated that the complainant in the matter is the state represented by Trust Mvurume of Zimbabwe National Water Authority, charged that the 66 villagers have been unlawfully occupying some pieces of land under Lake Mutirikwi Dam basin since 2000 with no legal right to do so.

On Tuesday 23 January 2024, the 66 villagers were set free by a Masvingo Magistrate, who granted them ZWL100 000 bail each and ordered them to continue residing at their given residential addresses until their matter is finalised.

They return to court on Monday 29 January 2024, where their trial is scheduled to commence.

Police Officer Ordered To Pay US$10k To Byo Man Unlawfully Arrested Over Contractual Dispute

By A Correspondent| A Bulawayo police officer has been ordered to fork out US$10 000 in damages to compensate a man, who was unlawfully arrested and arbitrarily detained by law enforcement agents over a bilateral contractual dispute.

Joseph Tambu, the Director of Prod Software Enterprises, was arrested by Shingirai Givemore Mayimbo, a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer, on 15 June 2021 after he voluntarily appeared at Bulawayo Central Police Station, where he had been summoned to appear in order to answer questions in relation to the delivery of a camera.

Tambu had been summoned to answer to questions related to the terms of a contract of sale concluded by him in his capacity as a Director of Prod Software Enterprises and Gwanda State University, represented by Sifundo Ntini, the university’s Procurement Officer.

After presenting himself at Bulawayo Central Police Station, Tambu was quizzed on the delivery of the camera, where he provided a detailed explanation on the reason for the delay of the supply of the camera, which Mayimbo did not accept and proceeded to detain him without just cause or explanation of his rights and stated that he would only be released after the camera was delivered to Gwanda State University.

On 17 June 2021, Tambu was released from the police custody after spending two nights in detention without receiving any further criminal sanction and did not appear in any court answering to criminal charges as should have been the case.

After his release and ordeal, Tambu engaged Prisca Dube of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who filed summons at Bulawayo Magistrates Court, seeking payment of damages amounting to US$10 000 as compensation for violation of his fundamental rights.

In the summons, Dube argued that Tambu was deprived of his liberty and inconvenienced as he could not conduct his business activities and was subjected to emotional strain as he was in confinement and could not see his family while his reputation as an entrepreneur was tainted.

In a ruling handed down recently by Bulawayo Magistrate only identified as Ncube, Mayimbo, together with the Officer In Charge of Bulawayo Central Police Station, Godwin Matanga, the Commissioner-General of ZRP and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe, were ordered to pay US$10 000 to Tambu as damages for wrongful arrest, unlawful detention and pain and suffering.

Magistrate Ncube ruled that Tambu was deprived of his liberty during a dangerous period of the outbreak of coronavirus and his health was put in danger owing to Mayimbo’s actions.

Concerns Arise Over Mnangagwa’s Smart Prison Promise in Gwanda

By Farai D Hove | As the Zimbabwean government announces plans to construct a smart prison in Gwanda, skepticism mounts over President Mnangagwa’s track record in delivering on promises tagged with the term “smart.” The proposed facility aims to accommodate 1,300 prisoners, addressing congestion issues and aligning with international standards for modern correctional services.

Deputy Minister Nobert Mazungunye, from the Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, outlined the government’s vision during a recent tour of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) facility in Gwanda. The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize prisons, many of which operate with infrastructure dating back to the early 1900s.

Despite the government’s commitment to allocate funds for the project in the 2024 budget, questions linger about the feasibility of turning promises into reality. This skepticism is fueled by a history of unfulfilled commitments associated with the term “smart” in the context of President Mnangagwa’s initiatives.

Deputy Minister Mazungunye emphasized the rehabilitative aspect of the smart prison concept, aligning with international standards and management trends. The Gwanda project is slated to commence this year, with plans to replicate the smart prison model in other districts and provinces.

Critics argue that the government’s promises of modernization may be overshadowed by past instances where ambitious plans failed to materialize. The community remains cautious, particularly given the significant gap between promises and actual implementation.

As the government seeks to improve inmate welfare, Deputy Minister Mazungunye highlighted the importance of humane treatment, recognizing prisoners as human beings. The government’s commitment to addressing challenges, such as overcrowding and staff accommodation, is echoed, yet doubts persist about the execution of these plans.

The Deputy Minister’s familiarization tour of correctional facilities aims to assess challenges in Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, and the Ntabazinduna Training School. However, the skepticism remains, particularly as the term “smart” is associated with initiatives that have, in the past, fallen short of expectations.

Concerns about drug abuse within prison officers add another layer of skepticism, prompting calls for maintaining integrity and discipline within the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service. As President Mnangagwa’s administration unfolds its vision for a smart prison in Gwanda, the community watches with a critical eye, questioning whether this promise will join the ranks of unrealized “smart” endeavors.

Gruesome Murder of Teacher

In a shocking turn of events, the tight-knit Zhombe community in Kwekwe district, Midlands province, is grappling with fear and horror following the brutal murder of Fanuel Mwale (57), a dedicated teacher at Rio Tinto High School.

Mwale’s lifeless body, discovered at the Joel Business Centre, bore signs of a gruesome ritual killing, marking an unprecedented and heinous act in Zhombe’s history. His defaced and naked form, with a face skinned and eyes and ears removed, has sent shockwaves throughout the community, prompting a desperate cry for justice.

Local authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspected killers, urging the public to come forward with any information that may lead to their arrest. The family, breaking their silence, revealed that Mwale would be laid to rest on Friday after a postmortem in Bulawayo.

“We are not doing any rituals; we are burying our dear brother, and all we wish for is our loved one to rest in peace. Everything else, we leave in God’s hands,” stated Mr. Shayne Shoko, the family spokesperson.

The ghastly details of the murder have not only instilled fear but have also forced the community to confront the grim reality of ritualistic killings. Zhombe Residents Association, led by Mr. Becare Ndebele, expressed the shock of witnessing such a callous murder, emphasizing the unprecedented magnitude of barbarism.

The community is rallying together, contributing funds to support Mwale’s burial and organizing a peaceful anti-crime march from Joel Business Centre to Zhombe Mission, where Mwale will be laid to rest. Mr. Ndebele affirmed, “As a community, we are contributing funds towards his burial as a way of showing solidarity with the loved ones.”

Chief Gwesela is contemplating a cleansing ceremony, bringing together churches and traditionalists to pray for the area and purify it from such malevolent acts. The late Mwale, a beloved teacher who played a vital role in imparting knowledge to the community, taught History and English at Rujeko Somalala High School before transferring to Rio Tinto High School. The hope now is for justice to prevail, bringing the perpetrators to book and restoring a sense of security to the shaken Zhombe community.

The two-time champions now face the possibility of elimination, having only failed to progress beyond the group stage once in the last nine editions of the tournament in 2017.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s team must await results to determine if they can advance as one of the four best third-placed teams, following their heaviest-ever home defeat.

Despite a promising start, Ivory Coast struggled to create chances and experienced a late collapse as Equatorial Guinea scored three goals in 15 minutes, leaving thousands of disappointed supporters exiting the stadium.

Unmasking Kalimbwe

By A Correspondent

Controversial Zambian politician Joseph Kalimbwe has stirred up a heated debate by openly mocking the Zimbabwe national soccer team for their inability to qualify for the AFCON tournament.

Critics, linking the Warriors’ failure to qualify for AFCON 2023 to the political turmoil in Zimbabwe, have sparked discussions on the multifaceted challenges the team faces.

However, neutral observers argue that Kalimbwe’s comments miss the mark and divert attention from the broader issues at play.

Kalimbwe is not new to controversy after the controversial figure fraudulently paraded himself as the UPND party’s Information Secretary.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, Kalimbwe expressed his bewilderment at the criticism he faced, stating, “I don’t understand why folks are mocking me because the team I was supporting, Namibia, lost. I mean the Warriors of Zimbabwe didn’t even qualify. When other countries were securing qualifications and investing in football, Kristy was in Chinamimani at a rally dancing to Tsepete Tsepete !!!”

Kalimbwe’s remarks have added fuel to the ongoing discourse surrounding the challenges faced by the Zimbabwean national soccer team. While some attribute their failure to external factors, others emphasize the need for introspection within the football administration and investment in the sport.

As debates intensify, the focus is shifting from the Warriors’ non-qualification to a broader discussion on the state of football in Zimbabwe and the potential impacts of political dynamics on the sporting arena.

Kalimbwe’s comments, rather than contributing to a constructive dialogue, have become a lightning rod for controversy, diverting attention from the intricate issues faced by the national team.

The aftermath of Kalimbwe’s statement underscores the delicate intersection of sports and politics, highlighting the challenges faced by national teams in navigating not only on-field competition but also the broader socio-political landscape.

As discussions continue, the hope is that the spotlight on the Warriors’ non-qualification will spur positive changes and a renewed commitment to elevating the standard of football in Zimbabwe.

Prophet Makandiwa Might Have Lied But It’s True Pastors Are Eating Men’s Wives | VIDEO

By Lesley Dambwa | OPINION | In a recent turn of events, a commentator, Munhu Wamwari, made a statement that has stirred significant debate and contemplation within religious and social circles. Wamwari commented on Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, a prominent religious figure known for his influence and teachings. The core of Wamwari’s statement was twofold: first, an accusation that Makandiwa might have lied in his preachings or representations; second, an acknowledgment that Makandiwa spoke a truth regarding a sensitive and critical issue in religious communities – the involvement of pastors in extramarital affairs with married women.

Analyzing the Accusation of Deception:
The claim that Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa might have lied is a substantial one, especially considering his status as a religious leader. This accusation demands a careful examination of what constitutes a lie within the context of religious teachings and prophetic messages. Often, religious figures use parables or metaphorical language, which could be misinterpreted as dishonesty by those expecting literal truths. Moreover, the line between divine inspiration and personal interpretation can be blurry, leading to messages that are not intentionally deceitful but are, perhaps, misaligned with objective truth.

The Uncomfortable Truth about Pastoral Misconduct:
Wamwari’s acknowledgment of Makandiwa’s statements about pastors engaging in immoral relationships with married women opens a Pandora’s box of ethical and moral issues within religious institutions. It highlights a pervasive problem that is often shrouded in silence. This issue is not just about adultery; it involves abuse of power, betrayal of trust, and the potential for spiritual manipulation. By bringing this issue to light, Makandiwa, irrespective of other truths or untruths, has touched on a critical and disturbing reality that requires urgent attention and action from religious communities.

The Impact of Such Statements on the Religious Community:
The dual nature of Wamwari’s statement – accusing Makandiwa of lying while also affirming a significant truth he told – presents a complex situation for the religious community. On one hand, it could lead to skepticism and loss of faith among followers, questioning the integrity of their leaders. On the other hand, it could initiate a much-needed conversation about accountability and ethical conduct within religious spaces.

Munhu Wamwari’s statement about Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa is not just a singular commentary on an individual; it’s a reflection of the larger dynamics at play within religious organizations. The accusation of lying against Makandiwa opens up discussions about the nature of truth and interpretation in religious teachings. Simultaneously, the acknowledgment of his truth-telling about pastoral misconduct confronts a serious issue that has been overlooked for too long. This situation serves as a reminder that religious leaders, like all individuals, are complex and capable of both truth and fallibility. It’s a call for greater transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within religious institutions, ensuring that they remain spaces of moral guidance and sanctity.

End Of The Road For Mo Salah?

Mohamed Salah’s 2023 AFCON campaign may be in jeopardy after a recent update on his muscle injury. Sustained during the 2-2 draw with Ghana, Salah underwent a scan the following day, revealing a more severe injury than initially thought.

Initially projected to miss only two games, including the final Group B fixture and the Round of 16 contest, Liverpool’s statement disclosed a graver situation. Salah is set to undergo an intensive rehabilitation program at the AXA Training Centre with Liverpool’s medical team.

The injury, worse than anticipated, occurred in the first half of the match against Ghana. An agreement with the Egyptian FA allows Salah to receive treatment in Liverpool.

The aim is to expedite his return for both club and country, providing an opportunity for an AFCON comeback if Egypt advances further.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, indicated a recovery timeframe of 21-28 days. With Egypt securing a spot in the AFCON Round of 16, this setback could potentially mark the conclusion of Salah’s 2023 AFCON journey.

His mother in law had revealed a string of young girls, Talent CHIWENGA has impregnated across Zimbabwe [DISCUSSION LINK]

as also revealed by Howard Nyoni, shortly before CHIWENGA deployed a British ‘Law firm’, through summons which claimed Nyoni is a former church adherent who is now disgruntled. (Nyoni is a veteran analyst who for years has participated in successful prosecution of church sex predators in UK and Zimbabwe),

Part of the legal threats against Mr. Howard Nyoni

Ivory Coast In Humiliating Defeat

Sports Correspondent

Ivory Coast’s hopes in the Africa Cup of Nations took a severe blow as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat against Equatorial Guinea in their final Group A match in Abidjan.

Emilio Nsue’s double secured Equatorial Guinea’s top spot in the group, edging out Nigeria on goal difference.

Chamisa Aide In Court Over Trumped-Up Charges

The trial of recalled former CCC MP for Mabvuku-Tafara constituency, Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, who is facing trumped-up charges of malicious damage to property and assault, failed to kick off today as the witness was unavailable.

Kufahakutizwi allegedly damaged a vehicle in Mabvuku and assaulted a Zanu PF member at a funeral.

Presiding magistrate Mrs Ethel Chichera postponed the matter to March 6.

Kufahakutizwi’s lawyer Mr Garikayi Mhishi put the State on notice that failure to summon witnesses on the next date, the case should be removed from remand.
It is the State’s case that on November 21, Mr Patrick Chitemba authorised Pastors in Action 4ED national administration officer Mr Douglas Matadi to use his Toyota Hiace to campaign for December by-elections for the Zanu PF National Assembly candidate for Mabvuku-Tafara constituency, Pedzai Sakupwanya.
Mabvuku-Tafara constituency eventually didn’t hold by-elections after the High Court barred Kufahakutizwi.

But on November 21 at around 1 pm, while Mr Chitemba and his colleagues were parked at Kamunhu Shopping Centre in Mabvuku, Kufahakutizwi and his accomplices, who are still at large, approached him while driving a yellow and black Toyota Baby Quantum.

They then blocked Mr Chitemba’s vehicle and four unknown men disembarked from Kufahakutizwi’s vehicle, forced open Mr Chitemba’s vehicle doors and demanded to see Morgan Mupfurutsa.

Kufahakutizwi, who was allegedly seated at the back of the Toyota Hiace, instructed his accomplices to damage Mr Chitemba’s vehicle.

It is alleged Kufahakutizwi said, “Aya mapastors for ED ngavazive zvevhangeri chete, pwanyai mota iyoyo.”
Kufahakutizwi’s accomplices then hit the vehicle’s rear passenger window using wooden sticks, causing it to collapse, and they drove away.

The total value of damage inflicted on the vehicle is US$370.
On the charge of assault, the State alleged that on November 18, at around 2 pm in Mabvuku, there was a funeral opposite where Mr Michael Nyasulu lived.
There was a huge crowd of mourners who had gathered to attend the funeral and some mourners sat in Mr Nyasulu’s garden, causing damage to it.
He then asked the mourners to move away from his garden, and an altercation arose. The court heard Mr Nyasulu then went to a beer hall nearby and when he returned to his house, an unknown person at the funeral noticed that he was wearing a Zanu PF cap.
Kufahakutizwi then approached Mr Nyasulu, grabbed him by the collar and punched him, claiming he had thrown stones at the mourners.
Mr Nyasulu then ran away and was rescued by his brother Mr William Nyasulu.
He then went to ZRP Mabvuku and made a report, leading to Kufahakutizwi’s arrest.

Is Salah’s AFCON Journey Cut Short?

Hands On Experience Key For Successful Mining Investment…

  1. Approach Mining as a Business Venture

Investing in mining demands a business mindset for long-term and sustainable profits. Create an informal business plan, detailing necessary expenses and monitoring costs.

Identify a claim nearby, and resist the urge to invest far away without thorough consideration. Expanding your investment scope ensures involvement in all final production activities, enhancing overall success.

  1. Your Presence Matters

Gold, being a currency usable without purification, requires your continuous presence.

In areas like Zimbabwe, gold nuggets ranging from 5 points to 10 kg can be found. Being absent hinders oversight and accountability for production funded by your money.

Family members, though close, may not share your dedication and can pose risks such as theft or inadvertent disruption to production.

Actively participate from day one, understanding all risks and rewards associated with your mining venture.

  1. Prudent Monitoring Practices

Avoid unnecessary overspending on monitoring by optimizing your presence. Spending at least 6 hours daily at the mine proves more effective than frequent drives.

Utilize public transport for non-essential transactions, and consider increasing your investment scope to incorporate transportation costs.

Prepare for fluctuations in gold yields by planning wisely and establishing proper backup measures.

Joseph Kalimbwe Sparks Controversy With Mockery Of Warriors’ AFCON Qualification Failure

Sikhala Freedom Protests Gather Momentum

Tinashe Sambiri

In what has been deemed “Job Sikhala Freedom day,” citizens are rallying for the release of the jailed politician on Thursday, January 24, 2024.

The arrest of Job Sikhala in June 2022 has sparked outrage, as he stands accused of speaking out against the brutal murder of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

The prolonged detention of Sikhala has ignited widespread protests across the country.

Citizens are expressing their frustration and dissatisfaction with what they perceive as an unjust imprisonment.

The sentiment is evident in the call to action from a CCC official on Monday, who declared, “Enough is enough, free Job Sikhala now!!! @JobSikhala1.

It can’t be a country where opposition leaders are arrested and imprisoned for no valid reason/s #FreeWiwa! How do you feel when you do this evil act? No no no!! Free him now!!!”

The call for Sikhala’s release echoes the broader concerns about the state of political freedoms and human rights in the country.

The arrest of opposition leaders has long been a contentious issue, and citizens are now taking a stand against what they perceive as an infringement on democratic values.

The arrest of Job Sikhala is particularly poignant, as it is linked to his vocal condemnation of the brutal murder of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.

The nexus between political activism and the consequences faced by Sikhala highlights the challenges faced by those who dare to speak out against perceived injustices.

As the pressure intensifies, protests are expected to sweep across the nation, reflecting the growing demand for justice and the release of political prisoners.

The rallying cry for Job Sikhala’s freedom is becoming a symbol of resistance against the curtailment of opposition voices.

In the face of mounting public discontent, the government is now confronted with a critical decision.

The release of Job Sikhala could serve as a gesture of goodwill, a step toward addressing the concerns of citizens who are seeking justice and an affirmation of the country’s commitment to democratic principles.

As Job Sikhala Freedom day unfolds, the eyes of the nation and the international community are on the unfolding events.

The call to free Job Sikhala is not merely a demand for the release of one individual; it symbolizes the broader struggle for political freedoms, human rights, and the preservation of democratic values in the face of adversity.

Zec vice chairperson Ambassador Rodney Kiwa told The Herald Monday that training of officials is underway.

Police Officer Ordered To Fork Out US$10k In Damages

By A Correspondent| In Bulawayo, a police officer has been ordered to fork out US$10 000 in damages to compensate a man, who was unlawfully arrested and arbitrarily detained by law enforcement agents over a bilateral contractual dispute.

Joseph Tambu, the Director of Prod Software Enterprises, was arrested by Shingirai Givemore Mayimbo, Zimbabwe Republic Police officer, on 15 June 2021 after he voluntarily appeared at Bulawayo Central Police Station, where he had been summoned to appear in order to answer questions in relation to the delivery of a camera.

After his release and ordeal, Tambu engaged Prisca Dube of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who filed summons at Bulawayo Magistrates Court, seeking payment of damages amounting to US$10 000 as compensation for violation of his fundamental rights.

In the summons, Dube argued that Tambu was deprived of his liberty and inconvenienced as he could not conduct his business activities and was subjected to emotional strain as he was in confinement & could not see his family while his reputation as an entrepreneur was tainted.

In a ruling handed down recently by Bulawayo Magistrate only identified as Ncube, Mayimbo, together with the Officer In Charge of Bulawayo Central Police Station, Godwin Matanga, the Commissioner-General of ZRP and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, were ordered to pay US$10 000 to Tambu as damages for wrongful arrest, unlawful detention and pain and suffering.

Magistrate Ncube ruled that Tambu was deprived of his liberty during a dangerous period of the outbreak of coronavirus and his health was put in danger owing to Mayimbo’s actions.

CCC Condemns Inhumane Tax on Visually Impaired Individuals

By A Correspondent| In a shocking move, government has recently imposed a 15% tax and an additional 5% customs duty specifically targeting visually impaired individuals, a decision that has drawn strong criticism from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Describing the measure as “inhumane and heartless,” the CCC has denounced the government for burdening the already suffering citizens of Zimbabwe with additional taxes, especially those with disabilities.

The new tax policy has sparked outrage among advocacy groups, as it directly affects visually impaired people who already face numerous challenges in their daily lives.

The CCC argues that, given the economic hardships and anti-people policies already in place, imposing further financial burdens on the most vulnerable members of society is unacceptable.

“This move is a clear manifestation of the regime’s audacity to intensify the economic burden on the citizens, showing a complete disregard for the welfare of the people,” stated CCC.

“Visually impaired individuals should not bear the brunt of such insensitive policies. It is unjust, unfair, and must be rescinded with immediate effect.”

The CCC firmly believes that such discriminatory taxation goes against the principles of equality and human rights.

The organization is calling for the immediate reversal of the imposed tax on visually impaired individuals and demands that their rights be protected without any form of discrimination.

“It is imperative for the regime in Harare to address this issue promptly and provide relief to those adversely affected by this unjust tax. Our society should be built on inclusivity and compassion, not on policies that further marginalize and discriminate against people with disabilities,” CCC added.

Chamisa Rejects NERA Invite, Demands Platform Leadership

The leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, has reportedly declined to be a part of the re-established National Electoral Reforms Agenda (NERA) committee, insisting that he would only consider joining if appointed as the leader.

The incident unfolded last Friday when opposition political parties in Zimbabwe convened to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the revived NERA committee.

Chamisa’s conspicuous absence from the event raised eyebrows, with sources suggesting that his decision was rooted in reported dictatorial behaviour and egocentric tendencies, indicating a potential fracture within the opposition alliance.

A source revealed that a unanimous decision was reached among signatories to accept Chamisa’s decision not to join NERA, citing his egocentric tendencies and a perceived disregard for the opinions of others.

The same source emphasised that inviting Chamisa would risk introducing chaos as he has been associated with confusion and disorder wherever he goes.

“Stakeholders of NERA collectively agreed that Nelson Chamisa’s inclusion would have been counterproductive, given the internal rebellion he is currently facing within his own party,” the source stated, highlighting concerns that the internal strife might spill over into NERA proceedings if Chamisa were to participate.

Despite an initial invitation extended to Chamisa, the source disclosed that the invitation was later revoked, emphasizing the need for a harmonious and focused approach to electoral reforms.

President of the Labour, Economists, and African Democrats (LEAD), Linda Masarira, confirmed to this publication the formation of NERA and declared that her party would be chairing the NERA Legal Affairs portfolio.

Masarira expressed optimism about the transformative potential of NERA, stating, “In 2028, we will have a different election. United in our diversity, we shall transform and reform Zimbabwe.”

Masarira unveiled the structure of NERA, revealing that Freedom of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) leader, Manyara Irene Muyenziwa would chair the organisation, with Wilbert Mubaiwa, leader of the National People’s Congress (NPC), serving as her deputy.

The President of the MDC T, Douglas Mwonzora, was appointed the spokesperson, while Blessing Kasiyamhuru of the Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZIPP) will oversee international engagements.

Masarira also announced the participation of other leaders, which include Lucia Matibenga of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Sibangalizwe Nkomo of ZAPU, and Gabriel Shumba of the Zimbabwe Exiles Forum (ZEF), among others.

Political commentator Calvin Chitsunge said that the exclusion of Chamisa from NERA signalled a strategic move by opposition parties to foster unity and focus on electoral reform, steering clear of potential disruptions associated with internal dissent within the CCC.

“As we delve into the intricate realm of electoral reform under the auspices of NERA, it becomes incumbent upon us to exercise a discerning eye over the organisation’s proceedings. The historical backdrop of NERA, notably in 2017, when it faced allegations of orchestrating demonstrations against the Government, casts a shadow of scepticism,” said Chitsunge.

Chitsunge added that, “While the commitment to electoral reform remains paramount, the potential susceptibility of NERA to exploitation by external forces must not be underestimated. In navigating this path, stakeholders must advocate transparency and accountability within NERA, cognizant of the delicate balance required to prevent any deviation from its intended objectives.

“A vigilant approach is essential, serving as a safeguard against external interference and internal disturbances that could compromise the stability of Zimbabwe.”

Meanwhile, Chamisa’s reported egocentric and dictatorial behaviour has not only led him to snub the re-established NERA committee but has also prompted his absence from the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform.

Preferring to operate as a lone ranger in the country’s political landscape, Chamisa’s decisions raise questions about the broader implications for collaborative efforts and inclusive political discourse within Zimbabwe.

Luke-ing the Beast in the Eye: A memorial — Ode to Oliver “ Tuku ” Mtukudzi (Republished)

By Luke Batsirai Tamborinyoka| Today is a day of genuine art, a day that we remember the indefatigable Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, the iconic musician whose powerful lyrical artistry serenaded us for decades.

Today, marks exactly five years after we lost the great Tuku, the master of song who entertained and charmed this nation for decades.

Today I republish an edited version of the obituary that I wrote when the legendary icon passed away on this day in 2019.
.
We are remembering Tuku at a time when brutally honest art is under serious threat from the political elite, given the way the Zanu PF regime and its whole machinery came out guns blazing against Winky D following his sold out, highly popular Ghettocracy show in Harare on New Year’s eve when he celebrated his 20 years in the music industry.

An unholy artist misnamed Holy 10 has revealed his shameful mission not to compose his own art for the purpose of charming Zimbabweans but solely to “finish off” Winky |D, the people’s ambassador.

Well, Zimbabweans have told him in no uncertain terms that he can never finish off Winky D when he failed the easier task of finishing off his days at school!

Today we remember the great Tuku the iconic artist, at a time when Zanu PF has also introduced its own weird art of stoogeship and political surrogacy, where a paid mercenary, one Sengezo Tshabangu has, for 30 pieces of silver and with the assistance of the regime, recalled the citizens’ elected representatives.

Early this week, the paid political conman of weird artistry was at it yet again when the same Tshabangu, who even the courts strangely claim now holds patent rights and ownership to Chamisa’s face, precluded some elected MPs from standing again on 3 Fto represent the citizens who had initially deployed them in August last year.

But the story of paid political art is a story for another day.

Today it’s about Tuku, Samanyanga, the great artiste.

The fourth anniversary of his death last year coincided with the death of his in-law and fellow music legend, Zexie Manatsa

As we celebrate Tuku today, it is only fair that we spare a thought and pay tribute to all those whose industry has lyrically accosted our collective daily trials and tribulations.

I have great respect for yesteryear music legends. They wowed Zimbabweans and gave music lovers value for money when they turned up for their live shows. They literally created their sound through their musical instruments and did not download their beats from the computer.

They were real artistes.

Death is a beast that continues to rob us of the talent in our midst as exemplified by the nation’s loss of iconic music artistrs.

And yet, when the dreaded spectre of death visits us, we can’t run away and all we have to do is brave up and “Luke” the beast in the eye.

Tuku was a talented artist. Artistes will always be the true repository of the conscience of a people, with their art and the attendant enduring message reflective of the people’s daily challenges.
As Emmerson.

And that is why the Gaffa today remains unmatched in the poignance of his art. True music must simply tell the people’s story.

Mnangagwa’s physical, emotional, economic and psychological violence wreaks havoc across the country, leaving corpses as well as battered and tortured souls in its wake, one is reminded of Tuku’s timeless lyrics when he tutored us on the futility of violence and its lack of dividend:

Ngoromera ingoromera
Harina zvarinoshanda
Haringabatsire

Today, all we can do is remember this icon and the footprints that the man and his art left on the sands of history. Tsimba itsoka , to borrow the phrase by which he named one of his albums.

Tuku achieved both in life and in death what our national leaders have failed to achieve —- uniting a deeply polarised and fractured nation. Such was Tuku’s greatness.

He was one of the unique few artistes who traversed with unparalleled ease the great political divide that has become the bane of our nation.

Tuku performed at a ceremony to celebrate the appointment of Joice Mujuru as second secretary of Zanu PF and Vice President of the country. Mujuru hails from Mashonaland Central province, where Mtukudzi also came from.

At the carnival where he played to celebrate Mujuru’s elevation in politics, Tuku performed the song Dzoka Uyamwe in salutation of the political achievement by a woman he referred to as the girl from Dande, his home area as well.

After that performance to celebrate Mujuru’s elevation, some said Tuku was Zanu PF.

Tuku then performed at former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s wedding in Harare in 2012.

In February 2018, he was in Buhera when we buried Zimbabwe’s doyen of democracy at his rural home at Humanikwa village.

After his appearance at these two epic events to do with Morgan Tsvangirai, the naysayers changed script and said Tuku was MDC!

In this politically divided nation, it was only Tuku who could afford to criss-cross this great divide and leave the nation baffled and confused as to where he really stood politically.

Tuku lived his life and his art well beyond the political party card, far beyond the constricting precinct of partisan regalia and party slogans.

Indeed, partisan politics and a partisan deportment were too petty for Tuku’s vast character; for his ubiquitous art touched every soul regardless of race, tribe, creed or political affiliation.

Tuku, the legend buried in Madziwa on Sunday, 27 January 2019, was simply far much bigger than our fractured and divisive politics.

Even in the soft requiem of death, Tuku unified our divided politics.

At his death, we saw Nelson Chamisa, Emmerson Mnangagwa and Joyce Mujuru casting aside their political jackets to attend the funeral of this hero of Zimbabwe. The vastness of Tuku’s character and the ubiquity of his art had ample space for this deeply divided political lot.

Such was the unifying nature of this lyrical master of our time, indeed an undisputed national hero.

In his death, Tuku brought Nelson Chamisa and Emmerson Mnangagwa together, a feat which SADC, the AU and even the United Nations have all failed to achieve.

Tuku died as he lived — simply as an artiste.

I have long memories of Oliver Mtukudzi that stretch some 20 years back to my other life as a journalist.

I remember covering the launch of one of his most controversial albums to date, Bvuma / Tolerance , at a joint then situated along Julius Nyerere Avenue in central Harare.

The place was full to the brim and the inimitable Mtukudzi was forced mid-stream to cut short his performance of the then controversial song, Wasakara .

Yes, Mtukudzi abruptly stopped performing, albeit for a brief hiatus, after his fans literally plucked the controversial song from his lips, flashed out red cards and started infusing their own lyrics into a song that was to take the country by storm!

Robert Mugabe was not even 80 at the time but his age had already become a topical national issue.

Music fans believed Mtukudzi’s song, Wasakara , was a reference to Mugabe’s age.

Yet Oliver was simply a master of perfect musical art, which often has multiple meanings to multiple listeners in multiple circumstances.

The red cards had become part of the MDC’s campaign paraphernalia, which the party’s supporters would symbolically bandy around as a send-off sign for Mugabe to leave the political stage due to his old age.

Stamping their feet and singing wildly in mock rendition of Mtukudzi’s powerful lyrics, I can still vividly remember the sonorous unison that Friday night of wild music fans infusing their own lyrics in mockery of Mugabe’s old age:

Nyika yese yati wakwegura
Hauchaigona wachembera ,
Wakuraka usazoramba Bhobho Chinja iwe

Probably afraid of political repercussions during those highly charged political times, Mtukudzi stopped the song mid-stream during the album launch and called for a break.

The story of that event was part of my several arts stories that won me the 2002 Delta prize for the Arts journalist of the year at the annual National Journalism And Media Awards ceremony some 20 years ago.

When I sought Tuku’s comment during the crowd-induced hiatus, a visibly shaken Samanyanga, unnerved by the moment, calmly said to me:

“ Tamborenyoka , this is the time when I want to speak to my fans . I do not wish to grant interviews to journalists during my shows . Let us talk tomorrow .”

Weeks later, the controversial Wasakara song was to lead to the arrest of an audacious lighting engineer for invariably blazing the lights on Mugabe’s portrait every time Tuku shouted “ Bvuma iwe ” during a live performance at a local hotel.

Tuku’s music fascinated the nation, charmed revelers and consoled the bereaved.

My maternal uncle, Constantine Makumbe of Makumbe village in Domboshava, is a Tuku fan. But my paternal uncle, my father’s young brother Thomas Gombera, now a pastor , was a staunch fanatic, nay a fundamentalist when it came to Tuku’s music.

Through his influence, the entire family ended up warming up to Mtukudzi’s powerful lyrics. Somehow, we all ended up Tuku’s ardent fans.

At one of our family end of year shindigs, way back on December 20 1990, I remember the whole family singing along to Tuku’s lyrics at a colourful family bash that spilt into the early hours of the following morning:

Kumhuri yekwedu , haungadaro , Carol ” we boomed, slotting in my sister’s name for colour and rhyme in a deafening chant that reverberated in the nearby Dambatsoko mountain.

We were enjoying ourselves at our rural homestead at Tamborenyoka village in Domboshava and my sister, Carol, was only eight then.

Indeed, Tuku’s music would charm families and communities. His art cut across generations, nations, tribes and political parties.

Such was the greatness of Tuku Music.

It was Tuku who almost provided the sound-track to the real-life movie of my near-demise. When I was involved in a near-fatal accident in the company of my uncle and brothers as we drove home in the early hours of Sunday, November 4 2012, it was Tuku’s lyrics that almost accompanied us to our death.

Playing in the car in what almost became the lyrical backdrop to our deaths was the album Abi Angu , a collection of Tuku’s collaborative effort with his musical friends.

In the flash of a moment, the Prado vehicle had overturned. With the car’s wheels still spinning as the vehicle lay on its roof, Abi Angu was playing in the background as my five colleagues ( abi angu ) battled to clamber out.
I remained trapped in the car.

I had lost consciousness, which later graduated into a deep coma that was to last some five weeks.

Tuku’s music was pregnant with all sorts of exhortations. His lyrical prowess was unparalleled as he was one musician who advised just as he chastised. He could console as he taught. He entertained as he praised.

Samanyanga simply had a song for every situation, including the powerful lyrics that became the theme song at his death:

Pangu pese ndasakura _ndazunza ,
Ndima yese ndasakura ndapedza ..”
(I have fought my good fight).

Indeed, Tuku, you played your part. And it is indeed true that death is a spoiler; rufu ndimadzongonyedze .

It is sad that the signature cough that accompanied your lyrics shall be heard no more!

We shall always remember you, Tuku. But we are comforted by the fact that you are now in great company up there with Safirio Madzikatire, Simon Chimbetu, James Chimombe, John Chibadura, Job Mashanda, Leonard Dembo, Marshall Munhumumwe and many others of your trade who left before you.

Heaven is probably lyrically richer. After all, one from your own loins, Sam, is already up there. And the two of you will charm the heavens with the same lyrical lure that for decades lulled a despondent nation into an odd mixture of laughter and comfort.

Tuku and son Sam of the Elephant totem; the elephant and its calf charming God and the angels in the ultimate kraal of heaven ( nzou nemhuru mudanga ).

Tuku’s former publicist, Shepherd Mutamba, has written a damning book which details some of Tuku’s blemishes, including adulterous relationships. What this may only show is that Tuku was no saint. He was a mere mortal like the rest of us.

Tuku’s blemishes will neither subtract from the lofty standard of his art nor blight the overwhelming reverence that this nation rightfully accorded him.

Politicians by the nature of their trade always want to claim credit. But let it be said now that it was not the Zanu PF politburo that conferred Tuku with national hero status.

They may have done so to provide a distraction to the unfolding national crisis in which State security agents continue to terrorize innocent citizens, but Zimbabweans in their diversity had already duly accorded Tuku the iconic status he duly deserved, even if the regime was not going to do so.

Even if this regime had kept its silence, Tuku was always going to be a national hero!

After all, hero status is never conferred by anyone. It is achieved and earned by one’s deeds in their lifetime. Tuku deserves his place among the country’s cream; among those who raised the country’s flag high by their talent and the sweat of their unique endeavours.

One could surmise that even Mnangagwa, who presumes himself to be our President when we all know he pick-pocketed victory, may not have had the legitimacy to purport to have conferred hero status on the great Tuku.

Indeed, pretence of legitimate kingship is the political bane of our time. Wenge Mambo , to borrow a lyrical line from the indefatigable Tuku!

It was Tuku who told us that death leaves a painful scar but the fairness lies in that each one of us will have their turn.

Vanga ramatipa rorwadza ,
Misodzi mokoto
Haiwaka rwendo rwacho mazoro …..”

May his dear soul continue to rest in eternal peace, this iconic lyrical master of our time!

Samanyanga, as you lie in the dark ductus of death, may you rest in the comfort that your lyrical prowess and that trademark cough will always be remembered as part of the country’s music memory.

May your dear soul eternally rest in song

Zwane’s impressive performance, with two goals within 15 minutes, established a first-half lead that Namibia couldn’t recover from.

South Africa, boasting the largest victory margin of the tournament in the Ivory Coast, surpassed Namibia on goal difference in the standings, trailing leaders Mali with four points and sitting two points ahead of top-seeded Tunisia with one point.

Despite Namibia’s early missed opportunities, including a crucial eighth-minute chance for striker Peter Shalulile, South Africa capitalized on a VAR-awarded penalty, with Percy Tau successfully converting to give them the lead.

Zwane added to the scoreline with two more goals, showcasing his skill and speed.

Thapelo Maseko’s contribution sealed the 4-0 win in the 75th minute, capping off a dominant performance by South Africa.

Nelson Chamisa Slams Stomach Politicians

Tinashe Sambiri

In a bold and impassioned statement, CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa decried the prevalence of what he termed “stomach politicians” and called for a collective effort to rectify the electoral challenges that have plagued Zimbabwe.

The statement, made on X, underscores Chamisa’s commitment to addressing the deep-seated issues that hinder transparent and fair democratic processes in the nation.

Chamisa’s assertion that “selling out is a booming industry” serves as a stark commentary on the state of politics in Zimbabwe, particularly under a dictatorship.

The CCC leader pointed out the disheartening reality that, even in the face of oppression, there are always individuals willing to compromise their principles for personal gain.

Chamisa noted the troubling trend where people readily offer their allegiance to the oppressor in exchange for what he metaphorically refers to as “thirty pieces of silver.”

Chamisa’s call to “fix our broken nation” resonates with a sense of urgency and determination.

He unequivocally stated that there can be no progress without addressing the issues of fraud, chicanery, and cheating that marred the elections, particularly highlighting the alleged irregularities surrounding the August 23, 2023, elections.

Describing it as a “gigantic fraud” and a source of “national shame and international embarrassment,” Chamisa called for a thorough examination of the electoral system.

The CCC leader emphasized the need for transparent national processes, majority rule, and a citizens-elected leadership.

In essence, Chamisa challenged the nation to unite in a concerted effort to overcome the obstacles that have hindered the democratic aspirations of the Zimbabwean people.

President Nelson Chamisa’s critique of “stomach politicians” and his impassioned call for electoral reform reflect a leader deeply committed to the ideals of democracy and national integrity.

As Zimbabwe faces the challenges of a tainted electoral history, Chamisa’s words serve as a rallying point for citizens to come together and demand the necessary changes for a more transparent, fair, and democratic future.

Whether his call will resonate across the nation remains to be seen, but one thing is clear – the journey towards fixing Zimbabwe’s democratic processes requires a collective effort and a steadfast commitment to the true will of the people.

Stop Lying About Cholera Figures, Mzembi Tells Mnangagwa Regime

By A Correspondent

In a startling revelation, former Tourism Minister Engineer Walter Mzembi has accused the administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa of providing misleading information regarding the cholera figures in Zimbabwe.

Engineer Mzembi, who is known for his outspoken stance, expressed deep concern over what he considers an irresponsible response to the cholera scourge by the government.

Engineer Mzembi condemned the use of state propaganda at a time when Zimbabwe is facing a severe cholera crisis.

He argued that the falsification of figures and the manipulation of optics for political gain are the least needed responses in the current situation.

Accusing the government of engaging in a propaganda campaign, the former minister emphasized the importance of transparent and accurate reporting to address the public health emergency.

Highlighting the severity of the cholera outbreak as a regional emergency, Engineer Mzembi called for greater collaboration among nations.

He stressed the need for enhanced health information intelligence sharing and analysis, emphasizing that the focus should be on saving precious lives rather than engaging in political point-scoring.

In a sharp critique of the government’s approach, Engineer Mzembi called for a shift in leadership during this crisis.

He insisted that propaganda must take a step back, allowing technical professionals in the field of health to lead the response.

This call underscores the importance of relying on expertise and data-driven strategies to effectively combat the cholera outbreak.

The former Tourism Minister’s statement serves as a plea for responsible and ethical conduct during a public health crisis.

Engineer Mzembi’s concern is not only about the immediate impact of the cholera outbreak but also the potential consequences of misinformation and propaganda on the overall response efforts.

Engineer Walter Mzembi’s accusations against the Mnangagwa administration shed light on the complexities surrounding the management of the cholera crisis in Zimbabwe. As the country grapples with a severe public health emergency, the former minister’s call for collaboration, transparency, and the prioritization of technical expertise reflects a broader concern for the well-being of the nation’s citizens.

The allegations of government propaganda underscore the need for accountability and responsible governance in the face of a humanitarian crisis.

Insights For Successful Mining Investment…

Mzukuru weMasvingo vs Fungai Maruta, Clash Over Serious COS Fraud Allegations

By A Correspondent | Recent online turmoil has been centered around allegations of COS paper fraud, implicating two women: Fungai Maruta, who has admitted to being a witch doctor, and UK-based Beverly Moyo, also known as Mzukuru weMasvingo or Sule.

The saga unfolded when Murandakadzi Nhubu, a South African socialite, was contacted by Tracy, a Ghanaian. Tracy claimed she had been given money by a relative to pay Beverly Moyo (Sule) GBP4700. This transaction was captured on video.

In a subsequent live video, Beverly Moyo lashed out at her audience, upset over her sudden publicity, leading to a dispute with Muchemhere Soko (Fungai Maruta).

In an early Wednesday morning live Facebook broadcast, Beverly Moyo (Muzukuru weMasvingo) confronted Fungai Maruta (Muchembere Soko), accusing her of treachery for revealing sensitive information.

Beverly Moyo, self-identifying as Muzukuru weMasvingo, declared her readiness to face imprisonment, but not alone, alleging mutual involvement in so called benefits fraud with Fungai Maruta as a form of retaliation.

As a former cheque fraud convict, Beverly Moyo (Sule) cited political activist Hopewell Chino’no as a colleague in crime during the late 1990s, expressing resentment over being abandoned by him after they both cashed stolen cheques in her early twenties.

Presently, she is addressing new accusations of fraud related to COS papers, maintaining that her previous cheque fraud offenses should not tarnish her current reputation.

She candidly stated, “I once went to prison… I used to rob banks. I came to the UK to rob banks… who didn’t rob? Who didn’t get arrested?” She criticized those dredging up her 2005 arrests in 2024 and questioned the righteousness of her accusers, mentioning the prevalence of COS fraud.

She said if people like Chin’ono can change their lives, why can’t she also. Chin’ono left UK in 2001 (allegedly) abandoning his friends to arrest and then changed his name upon arrival in Zimbabwe from his father’s surname, Mukusha.

Efforts to secure a statement from Hopewell Chin’ono have been unfruitful. He consistently denies any theft, attributing his wealth to a 1996 GBP50,000 sportscar credit facility, whose sponsor he refuses to name. He has also faced scrutiny for his financial dealings, including a probe by one of his former employers in 2021.

At the time of writing complainants were being urged to come forward with their stories. – ZimEye

Chamisa Exposes More Tshabangu Allies

By Political Reporter-The opposition, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has labelled some unnamed party members “sell out” as the party slowly disintegrates less than two years from its formation.

Posting on Twitter on Sunday, Chamisa suggested that some of his colleagues are on ZANU PF’s payroll and this has derailed his efforts to attain State power. Chamisa wrote:

SELLING OUT IS A BOOMING INDUSTRY…especially under a dictatorship… One thing surprises me; at any given moment in time, there is never a shortage of individuals who are readily available or willingly accessible, to sell their soul to the oppressor, thereby assisting the oppressor to achieve their power retention motives and wicked ends. And it is always about thirty pieces of silver.

Former ZANU PF activist, Setfree Mafukidze warned Chamisa that the “traitors” could be some of his colleagues he has worked with for many years and the younger ones whom he keeps close. He said:

What you should know my brother @nelsonchamisa is that the sellouts among you are not newly recruited sellouts, they are those you have been with for decades and even the younger ones whom you also trust and keep close to.

This l will always say, you have too many snakes around you so much that those you actually think are the snakes are the very people who are honest while the real snakes stay very close to you to feed you with loads of lies about those you then end up suspecting.

Zimbabwe’s State Security is very good at playing these games. They have people very close to you, unfortunately, this is why no matter how much you are ambiguous they end up knowing everything you are planning.

Right now they already know your next move, you need to do something about who you plan things with or else you will go in circles for a very long time.

The formation of CCC was announced in early 2022 following a leadership dispute within the former MDC Alliance.

However, Sengezo Tshabangu, a virtually unknown quantity within Zimbabwean politics, claimed to be the party’s interim party secretary general in October last year and has recalled dozens of MPs and councillors since.

Despite challenging Tshabangu’s actions in court, Chamisa has seemingly lost the battle to control CCC as the former continues to “win” the cases in court.

Clash Between DRC Captain Mbemba And Morocco Coach Sparks Post-Match Melee

Sports Correspondent

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) captain Chancel Mbemba found himself entangled in a heated exchange with Morocco coach Walid Regragui following a recent match.

The confrontation escalated into a melee involving players and officials from both teams, continuing as they exited the field and descended the players’ tunnel.

Addressing the incident, Mbemba, maintaining his composure, remarked to reporters, “I respect the coach who is a great man. The TV cut the videos, but I have them. I don’t need to swing them. I keep my silence; it’s better, that’s how I am. Everyone knows me, I respect everyone, I don’t need to shoot anyone but God’s justice is there.”

Regragui, shedding light on the altercation, explained to French outlet L’Equipe, “I said to Desabre [DRC’s coach]: ‘Bring him back to me; he’s going crazy, he’s talking nonsense. I didn’t like it because it insinuates a lot of things.”

He continued, “And at the end, despite that, I’m going to shake his hand and say, ‘Why are you talking to me like that?’ And then he looks away, like ‘I’m not shaking your hand.’ I held his hand, you can see it on the pictures, and he started screaming all over the place.”

Regragui concluded by expressing his dismay at the implied racism in Mbemba’s words, emphasizing the need for honesty and understanding in such situations.

Mnangagwa Administration Lying About Cholera Figures – Mzembi

Tongombeya Returns Home Empty-handed

Tinashe Sambiri

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s return to Zimbabwe comes at a critical juncture, marked by a deepening economic crisis that has been a persistent concern for the nation.

His recent diplomatic engagements in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, against the backdrop of internal challenges, have raised questions about the government’s priorities.

Mnangagwa’s presence at President Felix Tshisekedi’s inauguration in the DRC has raised eyebrows.

The timing of the visit amid escalating economic woes at home triggers concerns about the allocation of resources and attention.

Before his visit to the DRC, President Mnangagwa made a stop in Uganda to participate in the 19th summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). This international platform aims to promote cooperation among countries that are not aligned with any major power bloc.

While such engagements are essential for global relations, they also prompt scrutiny when juxtaposed against the urgent economic challenges Zimbabwe.

The Zanu PF Varakashi team’s statement confirming Mnangagwa’s return has been brief, providing little insight into the government’s plans or strategies for addressing the ongoing economic crisis. The lack of specific details raises questions about transparency and communication regarding the country’s internal affairs.

Zimbabwe is grappling with a severe economic downturn characterized by hyperinflation, unemployment, and a crumbling infrastructure. The return of President Mnangagwa brings into focus the government’s response to these challenges. Citizens are looking for concrete actions and policies to stabilize the economy and improve living conditions.

The timing of the president’s return amidst economic hardships prompts public scrutiny and expectations for decisive measures.

As Zimbabweans face the repercussions of a worsening economic crisis, there is a growing demand for accountability and effective governance. The government’s ability to address pressing issues will likely shape public perception and confidence in leadership.

Mnangagwa’s return from diplomatic engagements abroad occurs against the backdrop of a deepening economic crisis in Zimbabwe.

While regional and international collaborations are essential, citizens are keenly observing the government’s commitment to addressing pressing internal challenges.

The Zanu PF leader’s actions and the subsequent response to the economic downturn will play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future and the perceptions of its people.

Chamisa unequivocally asserted that Sikhala’s imprisonment is unjust and vindictive, emphasizing the ongoing fight against oppression for the sake of Sikhala and all citizens facing similar hardships.

Chamisa expressed his stance in response to a user on the platform, stating, “Job is not guilty. He must be freed yesterday. His incarceration is unjust, sadistic, and vindictive. Our daily fight against oppression is for the sake of Job and all the citizens under oppression.”

The Job Sikhala Solidarity Movement Coordinator, Obert Masaraure, echoed Chamisa’s message, highlighting that Chamisa’s statement serves as a refutation to those who speculated about a political discord between the two leaders.

Masaraure emphasized the political unity between Chamisa and Sikhala, stating, “The doomsayers who were claiming that Nelson Chamisa and Job Sikhala are fighting each other have been shamed. There is political unity on the release of Sikhala. The CCC was launched on 24 January, revolutionaries, let’s meet at Court in defiance against authoritarianism.”

Govt Wants To Take Chamisa’s Money And Gift It To Sengezo Tshabangu

By A Correspondent| The government has hinted at giving the political party funding due to the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to Sengezo Tshabangu using the false argument that they will respect the court decision in the ongoing dispute in the Nelson Chamisa led movement.

In an exclusive interview with The Herald, Minister of Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, emphasized that funds will only be disbursed to a political party embroiled in internal conflicts when their issues are resolved in courts.

“We have Zanu PF and CCC, so in that process, we will officially announce the allocated amounts for each party. Subsequently, we will request authorized representatives of the respective parties to provide names and account details for the fund disbursement,” said Ziyambi.

He also hinted that they could even withhold funding to disputing parties.

“We will withhold funds in the presence of internal conflicts, urging the parties to resolve their issues amicably. Should they resort to legal recourse, we are committed to complying with the rulings of the court,” Ziyambi affirmed.

Govt Tightens Tollgate Passage Rules

Vehicles driven on the country’s highways without valid licences shall be denied passage at toll gates, Transport Minister Felix Mhona has declared.

Under Statutory Instrument 5 of 2024 which also outlines the new toll gate fees introduced in the 2024 budget by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, Mhona also decreed sanctions on persons who “willfully” or accidentally damage toll gates.

“Any person who willfully damages, defaces, or alters in any way any tolling infrastructure shall be liable for its replacement cost as may be determined by the Road Fund,” Mhona said in his SI.

He added, “Any person who is involved in an accident that results in the damage of any tolling infrastructure shall be liable for the repair of such damage.”

Under the gazetted regulations, cars driven along the country’s highways without valid licences shall not pass through any toll gate.

“For the purposes of enforcing collection of all required fees, an authorised person shall be permitted to deny passage through a Tolling Point to any vehicle that has an expired or does not have a valid vehicle licence in terms of the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act,” the SI also reads.

CCC Leader Nelson Chamisa Accuses Party Members of Betrayal, Denounces Sellouts

By A Correspondent| In a scathing attack, Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has decried what he describes as a “booming industry” of sellouts within his own party.

Chamisa, who is a prominent opposition figure in the country, accused certain members of the CCC of betraying the struggle for change and colluding with the oppressive regime.

In a tweet posted on Sundat 21 January 2024, Chamisa expressed his frustration, stating, “SELLING OUT IS A BOOMING INDUSTRY…especially under a dictatorship.

“One thing surprises me; at any given moment in time, there is never a shortage of individuals who are readily available or willingly accessible, to sell their soul to the oppressor, thereby assisting the oppressor to achieve their own power retention motives and wicked ends. And it is always about the thirty pieces of silver,” Chamisa remarked.

His words reflect a deep-seated concern within the CCC about internal divisions that could compromise the party’s mission to bring about political change in the face of a repressive regime.

The reference to “thirty pieces of silver” implies that these alleged sellouts are motivated by personal gain, betraying the ideals of the opposition movement.

Chamisa’s party has faced turbulent times after a self proclaimed member Sengezo Tshabangu declared himself the Interim Secretary General and went on an overdrive recalling parliamentarians and councillors

Op-ed: We Cannot Blame CCC For Rigged Elections

By Wilbert Mukori| “Answer the question you were asked and not one you wanted to be asked!”Is the one lesson I learned from my secondary school Bible Knowledge teacher, I remember to this day. “You will not get any marks for answering questions you wanted to be asked!”

Zimbabwe is a failed nation sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. Why? Well, for one thing, we Zimbabweans have certainly a knack for answering the questions that we wanted asked and not the questions life has asked.

“The opposition cant be the problem!” insisted one member in my WhatsApp group.

“The problem lies in the denial of the people especially those in the rural areas their real right to vote. People in most rural areas are coerced directly and also indirectly who to vote for … the result being that at the end of the day they do not substantively exercise their right to vote in the real sense of it.

This has affected our democratic system a lot and ultimately the result is not a true reflection of the democratic will of the people.”

The problem of rigged elections certainly lies with Zanu PF but considering Zanu PF has rigged elections ever since 1980, 43 years and counting, one would expect the nation to have moved on by now from who is rigging the elections to what are we going to do about it! And true enough this is exactly what the nation has done.

By the late 1990s the people of Zimbabwe came to the conclusion that the only way to stop Zanu PF rigging elections was by implemented the democratic reforms designed to take away the regime’s dictatorial powers including the carte blanche powers to deny the people their right to free, fair and credible elections. The people also realised that Zanu PF thugs could not be trusted to implement these democratic reforms and thus reform themselves out of power.

The people of Zimbabwe have risk life and limb, from the Zanu PF thugs desperate to retain their iron grip on power, to elect opposition members into power for one express purpose – they would implement the democratic reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging elections once and for all. After 23 years of MDC/CCC leaders on the political stage, 5 of which in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, it is most disheartening that MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token democratic reform. Not even one!

Worse still, ever since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections, knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the election process some modicum of credibility and thus give Zanu PF legitimacy. They have soldiered on and participated out of greed. They knew Zanu PF would give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. They found the bait irresistible and did not care about the millions denied the vote!

Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies blatantly rigged the August 2023 elections because MDC/CCC leaders had failed to implement even one token democratic reforms to stop the rigging.

Indeed, even after AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC election observers had condemned the 23 August 2023 elections as a farce; CCC leaders were falling over themselves in their hast to take up their gravy train train seats. By accepting their gravy train seats CCC gave their resounding endorsement of the elections leaving SADC leaders speechless.

Zimbabwe’s problem of the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections is an OPPOSITION problem as contrast to being a Zanu PF problem in the sense that it is the form who have failed to implement the necessary reforms to stop the rigging. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections and thanks to CCC’s participation and endorsement they got away with it, in like manner the regime will rigged the 2028 elections unless we finally answer the question: Is there a competent opposition who can and will implement the democratic reforms to end the curse of rigged elections?

Zimbabwe should have been a healthy and functioning democratic country by 2013, at the latest, if MDC leader had implemented the democratic reforms. Even now, after 23 years including 5 in the GNU and without even one token reform implemented many Zimbabwe are still reluctant to accept that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and will never implement the requisite democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections.

23 years wasted dithering over reforms and for our part dithering over MDC/CCC leaders are up to the task of implementing the reforms. There is a heavy price to be paid dithering and we are paying it. Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to end the curse of rigged elections and there is nothing that will give me reason to believe the reforms will finally be implemented and the curse lifted. Nothing!

Kasukuwere Decries Mnangagwa’s Global Isolation Amidst Election Controversy

By A Correspondent| Former Cabinet Minister Saviour Kasukuwere has criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa for what he perceives as the continuous alienation of the Zimbabwean leader from the global stage.

Kasukuwere expressed his views following a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Uganda, where Mnangagwa not only missed the chance to address the gathering but was also positioned at the farthest right in the official photograph featuring member states and their leaders.

This scenario mirrors a previous incident during the inauguration of British King Charles III, where Mnangagwa found himself in a less prominent position.

Highlighting the tangible nature of this isolation, Kasukuwere asserted, “The isolation is real, and we have no choice but to go back to the table. No one recognized the charade.”

The mentioned charade refers to the disputed August 2023 General Elections in Zimbabwe, with the results still in contention. Kasukuwere was disqualified from participating due to concerns about his residency, raised by observer missions. The electoral process faced issues like delays in providing voting materials in perceived opposition strongholds, voter intimidation by state-aligned Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) officers, and other factors, contributing to discrediting the election.

The mismanagement of the election by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has extended the country’s isolation, despite President Mnangagwa’s intentional re-engagement policy. The Commonwealth maintains that Zimbabwe’s human rights record remains unresolved, keeping diplomatic relations with Western countries strained.

Tsvangirai Legacy Lives On…

In the annals of Zimbabwean history, the late Right Honourable Morgan Richard Tsvangirai stands tall as a beacon of democracy and a devoted advocate for the people.

Serving as the founding President of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and later as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Tsvangirai left an indelible mark on the nation.

Morgan Tsvangirai was not just a political figure; he embodied the spirit of selflessness and leadership.

Known as a true man of the people, he went beyond the confines of politics to become a fatherly figure, a trusted counselor, and, to many, the people’s President.

His journey in politics was marked by a relentless pursuit of democratic ideals and social justice. Tsvangirai fearlessly stood against oppressive regimes, championing the cause of the common citizen.

His unwavering commitment to democratic principles earned him the moniker “doyen of democracy.”

Beyond the political arena, Tsvangirai’s legacy is one of compassion and connection with the grassroots. He understood the aspirations and challenges faced by ordinary Zimbabweans, and his leadership reflected a genuine concern for their well-being.

In times of political turbulence, Tsvangirai served as a source of inspiration and resilience.

His leadership style was characterized by inclusivity, encouraging the active participation of the people in shaping the destiny of their nation.

As we remember Morgan Tsvangirai, we reflect on the profound impact he had on the democratic landscape of Zimbabwe.

His contributions go beyond the titles of president or prime minister; they extend to the hearts of the people who saw him as a leader, mentor, and advocate for a better Zimbabwe.

The doyen of democracy may have left the physical realm, but his spirit lives on in the principles he fought for and the democratic values he instilled in the hearts of many.

Morgan Tsvangirai remains a symbol of hope, a reminder that individuals, driven by a genuine commitment to the people, can shape the course of a nation’s history.

Congo DR Secures Draw Against Mighty Atlas Lions

Sports Correspondent

The Congolese national football team marked its second consecutive draw today in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted in Cote d’Ivoire, as they faced off against Morocco’s Atlas Lions in a 1-1 standoff during their second group stage match.

Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri came close to giving his team an early lead with a header in the first minute, following a cross from Hakim Ziyech.

However, it was Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi who netted the first goal in the 6th minute from a corner kick, fueling hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.

A dramatic turn of events occurred as the Congolese Leopards were awarded a penalty kick after a foul by Selim Amallah.

Unfortunately for them, the golden opportunity slipped away as the ball hit the right post, saving the Lions from conceding.

In contrast to the Morocco-Tanzania match, the Congolese squad maintained consistent pressure on the Atlas Lions throughout the game.

Silas, a forward for Congo, managed to score an equalizer in the 76th minute, denting Morocco’s chances of an early qualification.

Drawing inspiration from their coach Walid Regragui and the spirit fostered during the latest World Cup in Qatar, Morocco initiated its AFCON journey with a resounding 3-0 triumph over Tanzania on January 17.

After a 48-year trophy drought, the new generation of Moroccan football players aspires to clinch victory in this tournament, defending a title that has eluded them for nearly half a century.

Congo’s initial encounter with Zambia, both former champions, ended in a 1-1 tie, granting each team a point in the group standings.

With two African cups secured in 1968 and 1974, the Congolese Leopards enter the competition with the ambition of adding a third championship to their trophy cabinet.

$95 Million Fraud Minister Mupfumira’s Trial Restarts Amidst Reinstatement

In a dramatic turn of events, former Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Prisca Mupfumira, along with her then Permanent Secretary Ngoni Masoka, are facing renewed legal challenges. The duo, accused of misappropriating funds from the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), will now have their trial commence anew in the High Court.

This development comes after Mupfumira’s controversial reinstatement to a leadership position within the ruling party, ZANU PF, raising eyebrows across the political spectrum.

Mupfumira and Masoka stand accused on two counts of criminal abuse of office and one count of corruptly concealing a transaction. The allegations involve the misuse of approximately $95 million, a portion of which was reportedly used to purchase a luxury Toyota Landcruiser and to fund travel expenses for Mupfumira’s relatives to a wedding in South Africa.

The case resurfaced in the Harare regional court on Thursday, with the State, represented by Mr. Tafara Chirambira, requesting an adjournment to March 29. Mupfumira’s lawyer, Mr. Admire Rubaya, contested the further placement on remand, citing delays by the State in organizing its case.

Magistrate Stanford Mambanje ruled that the trial must start over due to the elevation of the previous presiding magistrate, Munamato Mutevedzi, to judge status. Mupfumira and Masoka are now scheduled to appear in court on February 29 for indictment.

This case has been closely watched, as it involves significant amounts of public funds and high-profile political figures. The High Court had previously dismissed Mupfumira’s appeal against a lower court’s decision, solidifying the stance against her alleged misdeeds.

As the country awaits the trial’s proceedings, questions loom over the implications of Mupfumira’s return to power and the broader impact on public trust in government institutions.- state media/agencies

Chamisa Evades Crocodile Trap

Tinashe Sambiri

In the political arena of Zimbabwe, President Nelson Chamisa continues to showcase not only his leadership but also his wisdom.

As the leader of the CCC (Citizens Coalition for Change), Chamisa has remained steadfast against Zanu PF’s attempts to coerce him into staging an uprising.

Rather than succumbing to pressure, Chamisa employs a different tactic—a poetic and biblical approach to confront President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a recent statement, Chamisa emphasizes the importance of wisdom, distinguishing it from mere knowledge.”SEEK WISDOM…

Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom… Knowledge is not wisdom. Many knowledgeable folks are very unwise.

Whereas KNOWLEDGE is acquired from institutions of higher learning and education, WISDOM is acquired from institutions of higher praying, heavenly teaching and revelation. Without revelation, there can be no wisdom. Proverbs 4:7 Blessed Sabbath.

#Godisinit”Chamisa’s choice to quote Proverbs 4:7 underscores his reliance on biblical teachings to convey his message. The verse emphasizes the significance of wisdom as the principal thing, suggesting a deeper understanding that goes beyond mere knowledge.

The distinction drawn between knowledge acquired through formal education and wisdom acquired through spiritual channels speaks to Chamisa’s nuanced approach.

In a political landscape often dominated by power struggles, this poetic discourse adds a unique dimension to his leadership style.

By encouraging the pursuit of wisdom over knowledge, Chamisa not only challenges the leadership of Mnangagwa but also sets a tone for a more profound and spiritually grounded form of governance.

The use of the term “heavenly teaching and revelation” implies a connection to divine guidance, portraying Chamisa as a leader seeking a higher understanding.

Furthermore, the reference to a “Blessed Sabbath” suggests a spiritual context, emphasizing the importance of divine principles in the political sphere.

Chamisa’s approach aligns with the idea that political leadership should not solely rely on intellectual prowess but also be rooted in moral and spiritual values.

Nelson Chamisa’s Poetic Wisdom Unsettles Mnangagwa

The CCC leader acknowledged the potential use of subterfuge, fraud, antics, tactics, or tricks to delay the envisioned reality.

However, Chamisa emphasized a crucial distinction, stating unequivocally, “Delay is not denial!” This resolute stance signifies his belief that, despite any efforts to hinder progress, the ultimate goal of positive change will prevail.

Chamisa urged his supporters and the citizens of Zimbabwe to remain focused and undeterred by what he referred to as “sideshows.”

If Mnangagwa Is Handsome So What?

Tinashe Sambiri

In a surprising turn of events, Melusi Chiripowako, a staunch supporter of Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF, has made bold claims about President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s physical appearance.

According to Chiripowako, Mnangagwa is not just an accomplished political figure but also the most handsome President in the world.

Chiripowako’s recent statements reflect a growing trend of intense loyalty and admiration for the Zanu PF leader, as he seemingly goes into overdrive to express his support.

While political alliances and fervent followership are not uncommon, the focus on physical attributes in this case adds a unique dimension to the narrative.

However, it is essential to acknowledge that the praise comes amidst growing criticism against Mnangagwa’s governance.

Accusations of economic mismanagement and a failure to curb corruption have become prominent talking points.

Many Zimbabweans express concerns about the state of the economy and question the government’s ability to address these pressing issues.

Despite the mounting criticism, Chiripowako’s declaration about Mnangagwa’s physical appearance brings attention to the curious intersection of politics and personal attributes.

The emphasis on the President’s looks, referred to as “mukuru vane style and pattern havo” (a leader with his own unique style and patterns), raises questions about the criteria by which leaders are evaluated and the impact of such assessments on public perception.

Historically, political figures have often been scrutinized for their policies, leadership skills, and ability to address the needs of their constituents.

However, the inclusion of physical appearance in the evaluation of political leaders is relatively uncommon.

This shift in focus prompts reflection on the potential influence of superficial attributes in shaping public opinion.

While supporters may argue that Chiripowako’s comments are a lighthearted attempt to highlight President Mnangagwa’s charisma, detractors could view it as a diversionary tactic to shift attention away from pressing issues facing the nation.

In the realm of politics, where optics play a crucial role, the introduction of physical attractiveness as a talking point adds a layer of complexity to the discourse. It remains to be seen how Chiripowako’s comments will impact public perception and whether they will detract from the serious issues at hand.

As Zimbabwe navigates its political and economic challenges, the focus on the appearance of its leaders serves as a reminder of the evolving dynamics in the world of politics, where charisma and looks can become unexpected focal points in the broader conversation about governance.

Mnangagwa’s Mbingas Loot Country’s Resources At Will

Tinashe Sambiri

The Zimbabwean housing market has become increasingly unaffordable in recent years, with soaring mortgage interest rates and exorbitant property prices.

This has resulted in only a select few, often referred to as overnight “mbingas,” being able to afford becoming landlords by purchasing these excessively priced assets.

The burden of these high prices falls on tenants, who are forced to pay exorbitant rental prices compared to the standard living wage.

This has made it impossible for the majority of the population, especially young people, to enter the property market.

As a result, many young people are forced into multi-room occupancy situations, particularly in densely populated suburbs.

This crowding exacerbates public health crises, such as the current cholera crisis, due to poor public health and infrastructure.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe appears to be indifferent to its crucial role in fostering a stable and sound financial system.

The current economic landscape continues to favour a privileged minority, consisting of “mbingas” and politicians connected to the regime in Harare, while the majority of the population struggles with hardship.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by President Nelson Chamisa has pledged to implement policy measures to lower rates, promote economic stability, and improve the economy for the benefit of everyone.

The party said in a statement…

“The CCC is committed to making affordable housing accessible to all Zimbabweans.

Zimbabwe is in desperate need of affordable housing that is accessible to all, and the time for change is now. #ForEveryone.”
