We have a record of fighting for the people’s freedom since the days of the liberation struggle.

As you know, we are known for fighting and even spilling blood like what happened during the war of liberation,” said Mnangagwa.

He also threatened to deal with people he described as economic saboteurs.

We know what is happening, the western countries are working with the opposition in a bid to remove us from office.

Business owners be warned, we know that you are working with the opposition to discredit the new dispensation.

These people( business owners) are manipulating prices of basic commodities but we will put them in their right place.”

Speaking at the same rally, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira described Mnangagwa as an indefatigable and invincible political figure.

“Baba Mnangagwa will rule for ever, pasi neChafa Chisati Chatanga.

We are not going anywhere. There is lot of work to do and we will finish all projects currently underway,” declared Chadzamira.

Abusive Boyfriend Sent To Prison

A Harare man Moses Tapiwa Maswera will spend the weekend behind bars after being apprehended for an alleged violent altercation with his girlfriend.

The incident occurred when the woman greeted another man during a children’s visit at school.

However, this was not the only instance of abuse, as the man had previously assaulted her for returning late from a girl’s getaway.

Maswera appeared before a Harare magistrate, where he faced two charges of physical abuse and was subsequently remanded in custody until Monday.

Shockingly, it appears that additional allegations may surface against him.

According to reports, in February, the complainant returned home around 8 pm after spending time with her friends.

To her dismay, she discovered the gate locked and contacted Maswera, who callously refused to open it and instructed her to return to her previous location.

Faced with no alternative, the woman spent the night at her friend’s house.

The following day, she visited her daughter at Lomagundi College and returned home late at night, only to find the gate locked once again.

Upon Maswera’s eventual opening of the gate, he erupted into a tirade of shouting and threats, evidently prepared to physically harm her.

Terrified, the woman screamed for help as Maswera relentlessly pursued her around the yard, repeatedly striking her with a whip-like object.

The disturbing commotion caught the attention of a neighbor, who intervened, prompting Maswera to cease his assault.

As a result of this harrowing experience, the woman sustained several injuries.

In another disturbing incident, it is alleged that in March, the couple visited the woman’s daughter at school.

While returning from the visit, the woman requested a brief break for her health.

However, as she walked back to the car, Maswera callously pushed her to the ground with force.

Despite recovering and getting back into the vehicle, Maswera continued to berate her for engaging in conversation with a male parent at the school.

This ultimately led to the woman’s decision to leave Maswera’s residence, taking her children with her.

The series of events underscores the gravity of the abusive behavior exhibited by Maswera and highlights the urgent need to address domestic violence in society.

Man Of The Moment Arthur Mutambara Speaks On Ndabaningi Sithole Hero Status

By AGO Mutambara| To Zimbabweans, Ndabaningi Sithole was always a hero, with or without the endorsement by ZANU-PF and its leaders.

Heroism is earned and not conferred.

ZANU-PF is not qualified to make or unmake Sithole’s National Hero status.

More specifically, Emmerson Mnangagwa (given his limited, frivolous and undecorated involvement in the liberation struggle) is not qualified to speak on Ndabaningi Sithole’s heroic contributions to the liberation of Zimbabwe.

He is unworthy to untie Ndabaningi’s shoes.

Throughout his life in independent Zimbabwe, Sithole suffered persecution and harassment at the hands of ZANU-PF and its government.

His key tormentors were Robert Mugabe and Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Sithole died while going through a treason trial.

Hence the fraudulent charade and vote-buying gimmick at Freedom Farm today must be condemned with the contempt that they deserve.

Ndabaningi Sithole is a National Hero with or without ZANU-PF endorsement.

Mnangagwa Snubs Ndabaningi Sithole Hero Status Conferment

By A Correspondent| In a surprising turn of events, President Emmerson Mnangagwa chose to abstain from attending the highly anticipated event where the late nationalist Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole was to be posthumously conferred with the prestigious national hero status.

The decision to send the Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri as his representative has raised eyebrows among the Zimbabwean populace considering that Mnangagwa is the one who initiated the process to have Ndabaningi Sithole honored as a liberation war hero.

The conferment ceremony, held at the Rev Ndabaningi’s Freedom Farm in Chipinge was attended by top government officials including ministers.

Sithole, a founding member of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) and a prominent nationalist leader, played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s political landscape.

The absence of President Mnangagwa, a successor to former President Robert Mugabe and a prominent figure in the ruling ZANU-PF party, has sparked speculation and debate. S

ome view his decision as a snub, raising questions about the relationship between the current administration and the legacy of Zimbabwe’s nationalist heroes.

President Mnangagwa’s choice to send Minister Muchinguri in his place has not appeased critics.

Many expected the head of state to personally attend the ceremony, paying homage to a man who dedicated his life to the fight for freedom and independence.

AKA Killers To Be Arrested Soon, Says SA Police Boss

The National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, has confirmed that they have identified the exact suspect responsible for AKA’s murder.

This news will surely please AKA’s fans, who have been demanding justice for the slain rapper on Twitter with the hashtag #JusticeforAKA, consistently raising their voices.

AKA, an acclaimed South African rapper, was tragically murdered in February of this year, along with his longtime friend, chef, and entrepreneur Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane. The unfortunate incident took place in Durban on Florida Road, outside the now-closed Wish Restaurant.

Addressing the media on Friday at Klipgat Police Station in North West, Commissioner Fannie Masemola disclosed that they have successfully identified the exact suspect responsible for the shooting and killing of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tibz.

However, he emphasized the need for patience as the South African Police Services (SAPS) continue their ongoing investigations. Masemola expressed disappointment regarding the circulation of false information surrounding this high-profile case.

Reassuring the public, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola promised that updates would be provided once the police conclude their investigations.

“Yes, we know who we are looking for. It’s a matter of just rounding all of them. We know exactly who we are looking for at least. That I can assure you. We know where we are going,” Masemola told the media.

Masemola also appealed for space and cooperation from the public to allow the police to carry out their investigations smoothly.

As of now, it remains uncertain who the police will ultimately arrest for AKA’s murder. In March, four men were apprehended 1,600km away from the crime scene in Durban.

However, reports suggest that three of these men were released in the middle of the night, as they were not directly linked to the murders. Investigators were done to determine if these individuals were wanted for other criminal activities.

On social media, armchair detectives pointed fingers at AKA’s close friend, Don Design, real name is Tshediso Mokoko, alleging his complicity in colluding with the perpetrators based on his body language observed in the CCTV footage.

Mnangagwa In Another Coup Panic

By- President Mnangagwa has accused the business of plotting a coup against him.

Mnangagwa read this week read a riot act on businesses saying that they were working behind the scenes with a vested foreign country to hike prices to make the people suffer and turn against the Zanu PF-led Government, especially as the country heads for the harmonised elections.

This follows a spate of often inexplicable price increases that have been witnessed in the past few weeks, increases that often defy market and economic logic as they are benchmarked on the parallel market and have squeezed the consumer hard.
The President said his patience is running thin with the business community that is seemingly working in cohorts with the country’s detractors to effect regime change in Zimbabwe as they covetously eye the country’s rich mineral resources which they can get through puppets in the form of opposition parties.
Speaking to thousands of first time voters at a rally that was organised by Young Women for ED in the city of Masvingo yesterday, the President said his Government will not brook any more nonsense from businesses that are in the habit of increasing prices.
“We are aware of those bent on causing havoc in our country by attacking our currency, they will never succeed, they want our minerals, vanoda kuti imi mukatsamwa voisa zvimbwasungata zvavo, vouya vachimora, imi miromo yenyu yakangochena nenzara, PASI NAVO. We will remain united as a people.
“This wanton increase of prices and manipulation of the foreign exchange rate must stop. This morning when I met the (Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe) Governor (Dr John Mangudya) and the Minister of Finance (Prof Mthuli Ncube), I gave them instructions that we shall not tolerate this nonsense. Those who are going to be found wanting and commit crimes against measures we have put in place, we shall have their trading licences withdrawn, because these people doing these heinous acts to cause suffering on our people, I now warn them, warn them three times. Understanding that dialogue, tolerance, love, respect friendship must remain key traits among our people, this the DNA of Zanu PF,” said the President.
Thus, the 2023 elections, the President added, offers Zimbabweans a platform to rejects puppets who are denigrating the country and invited sanctions that have caused suffering on the people.
Over 100 affiliates of the party attended the rally—which was a demonstration of the ruling party mobilising power ahead of the August elections and which also shows how the party rejuvenates and renews itself through drafting the young people and merging them with the old.
The President told the young people, most of whom who received their national identity documents free of charge, that the country erstwhile detractors cannot now come and preach ideals of democracy and majority rule which Zanu PF paid for through blood resulting in the rule of the people that Zimbabwe enjoys today.
“We in Zanu PF are building this country while some opposition parties supported by their Western handlers are causing suffering to our people through sanctions and the attack on our currency. These detractors and their surrogates have never had the people of Zimbabwe at heart, our mass revolutionary party is the only party with a vision for the future,” said the President.
Since 2018, the President has implemented various projects that speak to every demographic group in the country—as he implements development that leaves no one and no place behind.
For the youth, who came up in their numbers, the President has created jobs, set up innovation and industrial hubs to create employers among the young, availed scholarships for the economically disadvantaged and also provided a host of life transforming projects.
Such leadership has attracted young people to the party with this on display during the recently held party primary elections where the youth won in wards and constituencies with more seats guaranteed for them through the quota system.
“You the youth of today must stand up and play your role towards the realisation of Vision 2030, and the Zimbabwe we all want. To be able to do so. It is important that we appreciate our past and rich history. We are no ordinary people. We are a brave and resilient people, we fought and overcame imperialism, nothing can stand in our way as long as we are united and focused, we will achieve our goals,” the President said.
He said because of the land reform programme, some Western countries imposed economic sanctions on Zimbabwe to make the people suffer.
“These ruinous sanctions are still a shackle to our development and have been upon us for 23 years now. We have been on our own with no lines of credit from any nation in the world. Other than that, we ourselves focus on the resources that we got from God,” said the President.
Most of the first time voters were born under sanctions and have lived all their lives under the baneful economic embargoes but the President said through “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” Zimbabwe will be developed using its rich minerals, water sources and fertile soils.
The President said the unilateral economic sanctions are a violation of economic and social rights and the youth should stand up on August 23 to vote for their rights and the rejection of the Western countries and their hegemonic practices including cultural imperialism.
He added that while during the brutal 16 years of fighting for independence some people lost lives and limbs to achieve majority rule. The youth of today must defend the country’s independence through voting for Zanu PF.
The President was accompanied by his Zanu PF Second Secretary Cde Kembo Mohadi, Zanu PF Politburo members among others.
In her speech, Young Women for ED leader Cde Tendai Mavetera said Zanu PF has embraced everyone hence the multitudes who were in attendance yesterday.
“As affiliates we would like to thank you because you embraced us. We have so many young women, who are joining politics because of you. So many young people want to join the party because you have opened the door for them. First time voters who are here will vote for you because you are a leader who delivers,” said Cde Mavetera.
Giving a testimony, a nurse aid thanked the President and First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa for bringing several projects to their doorsteps.
“As a person living with a disability, I would like to thank the President for giving us sewing machines, goats and other projects that have transformed our lives. We will be saying ED pfee on August 23,” said Vimbai.
The President was treated to a drama skit from the comical Vharazipi who, in his satirical way outlined development projects that have been carried by President Mnangagwa since the dawn of the Second Republic.
These include the empowerment of women, youth and Infrastructural development projects in every part of the country that leave no one and no place behind.
“Ini saSabhuku ndinoti ngatizivei kuti chakatanga ndicho chakachejedza. We must work as a team but in a team we need a striker and our striker is President Mnangagwa,” said Cde Vharazipi. Herald

SA Minister In Trouble Over ZEP Extension

By- Opposition Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie has criticised Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi for extending the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits.

Motsolaledi extended the ZEP for a further six months.

McKenzie accused the Minister of selling out the fight against illegal immigration and has called for Zimbabwean nationals to return home. McKenzie said:

Minister Aaron Motsoaledi sold out the fight against illegal immigration.

The one moment he goes to court, the next moment he extends the validity of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits by another six months, with the period now ending on the 31st of December. Let them go home.

Thousands of Zimbabweans were set to be deported at the end of this month when the ZEP was scheduled to expire. However, the Minister’s decision was based on significant developments, including the approval of thousands of waiver applications for Zimbabwean nationals and a significant increase in the number of visa and waiver applications received by VFS Global on a daily basis. In response, the Minister has deployed more officials to assist in the processing of these applications.

The Minister’s Immigration Directive no: 2 of 2023, which extends the validity of Zimbabwean exemption permits for a further six months, was published in the Extraordinary Government Gazette on Thursday, 8 June 2023. The Minister has called on all interested parties to consider the Directive in their decision-making processes and will be requesting the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation to issue a note verbale to bring the Directive to the attention of the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Chipo Maria Sisimayi Dies

R.I.P.
Chipo Maria Sisimayi
1958 – 2023

Yesterday the bodily remains of Chipo Maria Sisimayi arrived home from the UK for burial at Glen Forest Memorial Park tomorrow Sunday 11th June.

Chipo Sisimayi

She was known to many as a power house of worship, prayer, bible study, intercessions and spiritual messaging

She was an aggregator of inter-denominational worship, in Zimbabwe and the UK, bringing together hordes of women, mainly, into regular sessions of prayer.

The Boka ladies grouping has been robbed.

She mentored dozens, she comforted loads, she uplifted many.

Heaven is richer with her arrival

In her prayers I was a permanent, I was a constant feature, she was such a willing conduit to my Maker, yes she was, her own assumed mandate.

Beyond being a solid spiritual pillar she was a legion of things to Fran and I – adviser, confidante, lender, financier, guardian, teacher.

Our children know her role in our lives and in theirs

She will be missed deeply.

To Israel and to the children, Shamiso, Mike, Otis and Ngezvashe, our deepest sympathies in this shared loss.

Wishing everyone strength.

Rest in Peace, maiguru – you will always be there. – Ben Manyenyeni

AN unidentified man died when a makeshift shelter he was sleeping in caught fire at Rangemore squatter camp in Bulawayo.

The incident happened last week but the victim, Solomon Moyo’s remains were retrieved from the shack on Wednesday.

A resident, Thembani Ndlovu who resides near the Rangemore squatter camp, said he saw the fire around midnight on May 31.

“We informed the proper owner, a Mr Mlotshwa about the incident. However, they did not worry much as the deceased would sometimes not stay at his shack for weeks,” Ndlovu.

“We didn’t hear any screams of help.”

Bulawayo acting chief fire officer  Linos Phiri confirmed the fire incident saying the victim was burnt beyond recognition.

“The roof had collapsed and he was burnt beyond recognition. The fire was concentrated on the corner of the shack while the outer side had a fire point which the victim used as a fireplace,” Phiri said.

ZANU PF Officially Tells Villagers 2023 Election All Voters Will Be Coerced To Vote Mnangagwa

By Farai Hove | Chances of the August 2023 election being free and fair have fallen to a zero following official instructions by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s party to coerce all voters to select the incumbent.

The below video follows bold instructions by the ZANU PF National Commisssar Mike Bimha copied to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri that people must cast their votes in clusters of cell structures that will land a comfortable quick win for the party and its leader on 23 August 2023.

The Invalidity of Zimbabwe’s 2023 Election: Coercion and Surveillance Undermine Democracy.

Zimbabwe’s upcoming 2023 election should serve as a pivotal moment for the country, offering an opportunity to reinforce democratic values, promote transparency, and ensure the will of the people is respected. However, disturbing reports have surfaced regarding alleged plans by the ruling party, ZANU PF, to manipulate the electoral process. If true, these actions, including coercing voters to support ZANU PF and monitoring their choices through the notorious FAZ terror group, would undermine the validity and integrity of the election, raising serious concerns about democracy in Zimbabwe.

Coercion and Forced Voting:
One of the fundamental principles of a democratic election is the freedom of choice for voters. Citizens should be able to vote according to their own convictions and preferences, without any form of coercion or intimidation. However, reports indicate that ZANU PF intends to force voters to support their party, thereby depriving citizens of their right to exercise their democratic freedom. This coerced voting not only violates democratic principles but also undermines the legitimacy of the electoral process itself.

Surveillance and the FAZ Terror Group:
In a democracy, the secrecy of the ballot is crucial to ensuring that voters can express their political preferences without fear of retribution. However, reports suggest that ZANU PF plans to employ the notorious FAZ terror group to monitor voters under a cell structure system. This surveillance mechanism strikes at the heart of democratic principles, creating an environment of fear and intimidation, which suppresses the freedom of expression and undermines the integrity of the electoral process.

The Role of Election Monitoring:
Election monitoring plays a crucial role in ensuring the transparency and fairness of an electoral process. Independent observers should be present to guarantee that elections are conducted in accordance with democratic standards. However, the alleged involvement of the FAZ terror group, known for its coercive and violent tactics, raises serious doubts about the independence and objectivity of any monitoring process. Such a scenario would render the entire election monitoring system meaningless and erode public trust in the electoral process.

International Standards and Consequences:
Zimbabwe, like many other nations, is expected to adhere to international standards of free and fair elections. The actions described in the alleged plans of ZANU PF violate the principles set forth by organizations such as the United Nations and regional bodies like the African Union. The international community must closely monitor these developments, as the undermining of democracy in one country can have far-reaching implications for the region as a whole.

The alleged plans of ZANU PF to force voters to support their party and monitor them through the FAZ terror group in the 2023 election would significantly compromise the validity and integrity of the electoral process in Zimbabwe. Coercion, intimidation, and surveillance have no place in a democracy, and their presence undermines the fundamental principles of free and fair elections. It is imperative that the international community remains vigilant and calls for transparency, accountability, and respect for democratic values in Zimbabwe’s electoral process. The future of democracy in the country depends on it.

Mnangagwa Dead Today Who Must Take Over? REACTIONS

Assessing Potential Successors to Emmerson Mnangagwa in Zimbabwe

The political landscape of Zimbabwe has been a subject of speculation and uncertainty, especially in light of the recent news regarding the health of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. As the nation awaits the 2023 elections, the question arises: who would take over if Mnangagwa were to pass away today while deputized by Constantino Chiwenga? This article aims to analyze what people of Zimbabwe hypothesize will be potential successors and their implications for Zimbabwe’s future.

  1. Constantino Chiwenga:
As the Vice President of Zimbabwe and former Commander of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces, Chiwenga is a likely contender for the presidency. His military background and extensive political experience make him a powerful figure within the ruling ZANU-PF party. If he were to assume power, Chiwenga might maintain the current political trajectory, emphasizing stability and continuity.
  2. Nelson Chamisa:
As the leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition For Change party, Chamisa has garnered significant support across Zimbabwe. His charismatic personality and youthful energy resonate with the country’s younger population. In the event of Mnangagwa’s demise, Chamisa could leverage his political base to challenge for the presidency, potentially leading to a shift in Zimbabwe’s governance style and policies.
  3. Political Coalition:
Zimbabwe’s political landscape is not limited to ZANU-PF and the CCC. There are several smaller parties and independent candidates who could forge alliances to create a formidable coalition. A united front of opposition parties might emerge, providing a viable alternative to the ruling party and offering a fresh start for the country.
  4. Military Intervention:
Zimbabwe has a history of military intervention in its political affairs, as demonstrated by the 2017 military coup that led to Mnangagwa’s ascent to power. In the event of his passing, the military could play a decisive role in determining the country’s future leadership. This scenario would raise concerns about the potential erosion of democratic processes.
  5. Transitional Government:
Given the delicate situation surrounding Mnangagwa’s potential demise close to the 2023 elections, a transitional government could be considered. This temporary arrangement, involving representatives from various political factions, would provide stability while allowing for a more inclusive and participatory electoral process.

The question of who would take over in Zimbabwe if Emmerson Mnangagwa were to pass away before the 2023 elections, while deputized by Constantino Chiwenga, is complex and uncertain. The political landscape could witness continuity, a shift towards the opposition, the formation of a coalition, military intervention, or even the establishment of a transitional government. Zimbabwe’s future rests on the ability of its political leaders and citizens to navigate this challenging period with prudence, transparency, and a commitment to democratic principles.

Baby Retrieved From Pit Latrine, Dies On Way To Hospital

BULAWAYO – A newborn baby died on the way to hospital on Wednesday after being retrieved from a pit latrine at a school in Filabusi, Matabeleland South.

Police said the child’s mother is a student at Siwazi Secondary School in the Avoca, about 60km from Filabusi District Hospital.

“We are investigating a case of concealing birth which occurred at a secondary school on June 7, 2023,” national police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

“A Form 4 student gave birth to a baby in the toilet before dumping it into the pit.”

The baby was reportedly rescued using a sack and a wire by a police officer who was providing security services to Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) officials who were at the school which is used as a polling centre during elections.

A source said: “The student asked her teacher for permission to go to the toilet, claiming she was having period pains.

“She took long returning and other students followed her to the blair toilet. They noticed rather large blood stains and their suspicions were aroused. They reported the incident to the police officer who interviewed the student, triggering a desperate rescue effort.”

The child was alive when retrieved, but died while making the tortuous trip to hospital on a poorly maintained dirt road.

Last year, an A’ Level learner at Gomorefu High School in Marange was arrested after she delivered a baby at her lodgings and allegedly dumped the newborn in a pit latrine.

In a separate incident early this year, police in Lupane arrested and charged an 18-year-old learner from Tshongogwana Village with infanticide after a seven-week-old baby girl was found dead in a bedroom hut, with froth coming through the nose. Two hammers were found on top of blankets next to the body

Warrant Of Arrest For Zanu PF Supporter

A suspected ZANU PF supporter who allegedly took pictures during the party’s primary elections was issued a warrant of arrest today at Concession magistrates courts.

Zephania Muringazuwa did not appear in court there by leaving the magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware with no choice than to issue a warrant of arrest.

The state led by Precious Khanye alleged on March 25 Muringazuwa arrived at Maori Primary School where the complainant Tsekwende Chingwa was presiding over party primary elections.

Jah Prayzah Joining Nelson Chamisa Opportunities Opening

The Potential Impact of Jah Prayzah Joining CCC: Unlocking New Opportunities for the Singer.

Winky-D-and-Jah-Prayzah

By Champion Jeffery Hwenda | Jah Prayzah, a renowned Zimbabwean musician known for his captivating music and lyrical prowess, has long been associated with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration. However, in a surprising turn of events, rumors have circulated about his potential departure from the ruling party to join Nelson Chamisa’s opposition Citizens Coalition for Change movement. This article explores the possible consequences and opportunities that could arise if Jah Prayzah were to make such a significant shift in his political alignment.

1. Expanded Fan Base:

One immediate advantage Jah Prayzah would gain by aligning with Nelson Chamisa is the opportunity to tap into a broader fan base. The CCC, led by Chamisa, boasts a considerable following, particularly among the younger demographic. By associating himself with the opposition party, Jah Prayzah would likely attract new listeners who resonate with Chamisa’s vision and ideologies, thereby expanding his reach and popularity.

2. Enhanced Artistic Freedom:

Under President Mnangagwa’s rule, artists in Zimbabwe have faced limitations on their creative expression, with certain topics or themes being deemed sensitive or inappropriate. Joining the opposition movement could provide Jah Prayzah with greater artistic freedom, allowing him to address social and political issues more candidly in his music. This newfound freedom could empower him to produce thought-provoking songs that resonate deeply with the Zimbabwean population, potentially increasing his influence as an artist.

3. Collaboration Opportunities:

Aligning with Nelson Chamisa and the CCC would expose Jah Prayzah to a network of like-minded artists, activists, and intellectuals who are passionate about driving positive change in Zimbabwe. This alliance could open doors for collaborations with other prominent musicians, both locally and internationally, who share the same vision of a prosperous and democratic Zimbabwe. Such collaborations could catapult Jah Prayzah’s career to new heights and enable him to make a more significant impact through his music.

4. Humanitarian Initiatives:

Joining the opposition movement would offer Jah Prayzah an opportunity to engage in meaningful humanitarian initiatives. The CCC, with its focus on social justice and economic reform, actively works towards uplifting marginalized communities in Zimbabwe. By aligning with Chamisa, Jah Prayzah could leverage his influence and resources to support initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. This involvement would not only positively impact the lives of many Zimbabweans but also enhance Jah Prayzah’s public image as a socially conscious artist.

5. International Exposure:

Nelson Chamisa’s CCC enjoys considerable international recognition and support from the global community. Jah Prayzah’s association with the opposition movement could provide him with increased exposure on the international stage. This, in turn, may lead to opportunities for international tours, collaborations with renowned musicians from different parts of the world, and participation in high-profile cultural events. The international exposure would not only elevate Jah Prayzah’s career but also shed light on the challenges faced by artists in Zimbabwe, amplifying the voice of the nation’s creative community.

Conclusion:

Should Jah Prayzah choose to leave Emmerson Mnangagwa’s camp and join Nelson Chamisa’s opposition movement, several exciting opportunities could emerge for the talented Zimbabwean musician. With an expanded fan base, enhanced artistic freedom, collaboration prospects, humanitarian initiatives, and increased international exposure, Jah Prayzah’s career could take a transformative trajectory. However, it’s important to note that these opportunities are contingent on numerous factors and the volatile nature of politics. Nonetheless, the potential synergy between Jah Prayzah’s artistry and the opposition movement

‘s aspirations for a better Zimbabwe presents an intriguing prospect for both the singer and his fans.

Mutsvangwa Caught On Camera Chopping Money In US Aboard Private Jet Despite Sanctions-Anger Banger

ZANU PF Information Secretary has been caught on camera riding a private jet leaving Gary Chicago Airport on his way together with his minister wife to New York.

Chris Mutsvangwa Aberdeen private jet leaving Indiana

Mutsvangwa, has recently attracted attention with his twisting shift in position regarding sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States. In 2017, Mutsvangwa stated that sanctions were no excuse for bad leadership in his country. However, in 2023, he has now accused the US government of actively working towards the destruction of Zimbabwe. This abrupt change in rhetoric raises questions about the motives behind Mutsvangwa’s shifting stance and the deeper implications for Zimbabwe’s relationship with the United States.

A History of Sanctions:

The United States, along with several other countries, has maintained sanctions on Zimbabwe for many years, citing concerns over human rights abuses, electoral irregularities, and democratic deficits. These sanctions primarily target individuals and entities believed to be involved in undermining democratic processes and violating human rights. The aim is to exert pressure on the Zimbabwean government to address these issues and promote reforms.

Mutsvangwa’s Initial Position:

In 2017, Mutsvangwa, a former ambassador to China and a prominent figure within ZANU PF, acknowledged the negative impact of sanctions but emphasized that they should not serve as an excuse for bad governance. He argued that Zimbabwe’s leadership should focus on implementing policies that would strengthen the economy, improve social conditions, and address the concerns raised by the international community. His stance at the time aligned with the government’s narrative of pursuing domestic reforms irrespective of external pressures.

Mutsvangwa’s Accusations:

The sudden shift in Mutsvangwa’s position in 2023 has surprised many observers. He has now accused the US government of actively seeking to destroy Zimbabwe through its continued enforcement of sanctions. According to Mutsvangwa, the sanctions have stifled economic growth, hampered development, and contributed to the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans. He has claimed that the US has ulterior motives and aims to undermine the government’s legitimacy, impede progress, and maintain its dominance over African nations.

Potential Motives:

Understanding the reasons behind Mutsvangwa’s change in position requires examining the broader context of Zimbabwean politics and international dynamics. There are several potential motives that could explain his sudden shift:

1. Political Strategy: Mutsvangwa’s altered stance may be a strategic move to consolidate power within ZANU PF or maintain his own political relevance. By aligning himself with popular sentiments against sanctions, he could appeal to a broader base of supporters.

2. Changing Political Landscape: Shifts in global and regional politics can influence individual perspectives. Mutsvangwa might have adjusted his position in response to changing dynamics, such as evolving alliances or geopolitical considerations that could impact Zimbabwe’s relations with the United States.

3. Internal Power Struggles: Mutsvangwa’s change in position could be related to internal power struggles within ZANU PF or the broader government. It’s possible that his shift is a reflection of changing dynamics within the ruling party, which could be seeking to deflect blame for the country’s economic challenges onto external factors.

Implications for Zimbabwe-US Relations:

Mutsvangwa’s accusations against the United States could further strain the already tense relationship between the two countries. The accusations of deliberate destruction could escalate the rhetoric and hinder potential avenues for dialogue and cooperation. It is essential for both parties to engage in constructive dialogue, address concerns, and work towards resolving their differences in order to facilitate Zimbabwe’s economic recovery and political stability.

Conclusion:

The sudden change in Christopher Mutsvangwa’s position on sanctions, from acknowledging their impact but advocating for good governance to accusing the US of actively destroying Zimbabwe, raises questions about his motivations and the broader implications for Zimbabwe

Emmerson Mnangagwa Voted Out

By Gester Banda | It sounds like a dream, but one that’s no fiction at all; it’s a real election, and the man who’s killed tens of thousands since 1982 is thrown out into the cold.

Emmerson Mnangagwa is now history and the date is positioned 23 years ago, right on the dot of the 2023 election.

The date is Aug 2000, as the news magazine, Parade reports.

Zimbabwe’s Political Landscape Shifts as Emmerson Mnangagwa Faces Defeat in the 2023 Elections.

The political dynamics in Zimbabwe are on the verge of a seismic shift as President Emmerson Mnangagwa faces a significant challenge in the 2023 elections. After assuming power in November 2017 following the ousting of Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa’s presidency was marked by promises of reform and economic revitalization. However, as the nation prepares for the upcoming elections, an increasing tide of discontent and frustration has emerged, indicating a potential defeat for Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU-PF party.

A Fading Promise of Change:
When Mnangagwa took office, he pledged to usher in a new era for Zimbabwe, vowing to address corruption, promote democracy, and revitalize the struggling economy. Initially, there was cautious optimism among the people, hoping for a departure from Mugabe’s authoritarian regime. However, as the years went by, many of these promises remained unfulfilled, leading to a growing disillusionment among the populace.

Economic Crisis and Skyrocketing Inflation:
One of the key factors contributing to Mnangagwa’s declining popularity is the country’s economic crisis. Despite assurances of economic reform, Zimbabwe continues to grapple with high unemployment rates, widespread poverty, and skyrocketing inflation. The introduction of a new currency, the Zimbabwean dollar, failed to stabilize the economy and brought about further hardships for ordinary citizens. This dire economic situation has eroded public trust in the government’s ability to deliver on its promises.

Human Rights Concerns and Suppression:
Under Mnangagwa’s presidency, concerns over human rights violations and political suppression have persisted. The government’s response to dissent has often been heavy-handed, with reports of violent crackdowns on opposition figures, activists, and protesters. The lack of progress in ensuring freedom of speech and expression, coupled with limited press freedom, has further strained relations between the government and its citizens.

Rising Opposition and Unity:
As dissatisfaction with Mnangagwa’s administration grows, the opposition forces in Zimbabwe have been rallying behind a unified front. Led by prominent figures such as Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance, the opposition has sought to capitalize on the discontentment and present a credible alternative to the ruling ZANU-PF party. The united opposition front has been successful in galvanizing support from diverse sections of society, including disenchanted youth and urban voters.

International Pressure and Diplomatic Isolation:
The international community has closely monitored Zimbabwe’s political developments, with concerns over democratic backsliding and human rights abuses. The lack of progress on political and economic reforms has resulted in Zimbabwe facing diplomatic isolation and strained relationships with key partners. International pressure and sanctions have further intensified the challenges faced by Mnangagwa’s government, making it increasingly difficult to gain external support.

The Road Ahead:
As the 2023 elections approach, the political landscape in Zimbabwe appears poised for a significant change. While Mnangagwa’s defeat is not guaranteed, the mounting discontent, economic hardships, and human rights concerns have created a fertile ground for opposition forces to challenge the ruling party’s dominance. The unity of the opposition, coupled with a desire for change among the electorate, presents a formidable challenge to the status quo.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s presidency in Zimbabwe has been marked by unfulfilled promises, economic crisis, and concerns over human rights abuses. The upcoming 2023 elections offer a crucial opportunity for the people of Zimbabwe to voice their discontent and shape the future of their nation. Whether the elections result in Mnangagwa’s defeat or a continuation of the status quo, they will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the country’s political trajectory and its relationship with the international community.

RBZ Told To Close Its Failed Forex Auction System

Economic analysts this week said the central bank must close the foreign exchange auction system, saying it was no longer serving its purpose.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) last month limited weekly auction allotment to US$5 million to avoid a build-up of backlogs.

However, economists said with only US$5 million on offer, the system was no longer useful.

“Demand for forex is certainly more than the US$5 million now available per week,” economic analyst Vince Musewe said.

Zimbabwe implemented the Dutch auction system in 2020.

It is a market-based mechanism allowing buyers to bid for the greenback.

Economist Eddie Cross agreed that the auction system was no longer relevant.

“At the beginning, the auction system for foreign exchange made a substantial contribution to the local economy,” Cross said.

“It stabilised the currency and it met basic demands for foreign exchange by the private sector.

“All bids were cleared within seven days and the majority, over 70% of the funds allocated, was for raw materials and equipment.

“In my view, had the reserve bank been able to maintain that performance, the auction system would have made a substantial contribution to the local economy.

“However, after several months of success, the Reserve Bank began to delay payments for bids and this tied up very substantial resources from the private sector and made them reluctant to use the auction as a source of foreign exchange,” Cross said.

He added that: “On top of that, they stopped expanding the floor of foreign exchange to the auction and that meant the auction no longer met the needs of the private sector. It began to lose its relevance”.

Cross noted that the auction system had been severely curtailed down, with allocations dropping to about US$20 million per week, from about US$45 million.

“I think the auction has been overtaken by events. We just need to disband it and allow a liberal system. That will help to remove distortions that are in the foreign exchange management system, which has seen the black – market premium widening,” he said.

Cross said Zimbabwe’s demand for foreign exchange was running at about US$150 million to US$160 million a week, hence the auction was now making very little contribution.

With the parallel market rate (PMR) now sitting at about US$1: ZW$4 000, Cross said it was of no doubt that the recent depreciation on the auction system was deliberate.

He said it was meant to try to narrow the gap between the PMR and the official rate.

However, he said the PMR rate had recently increased further, and the situation remained the same.

Development economist, and policy advisor Prosper Chitambara said the auction has served its purpose.

He said businesses were now mobilising their own foreign currency through the interbank market.

“Businesses can mobilise their own foreign currency requirements without having to go to the auction now,” he said.

“I think the interbank market has been working okay in terms of providing forex requirements. So, I think there may not be a need to continue with the foreign exchange auction.”

Over the past few weeks, Zimbabwe has been experiencing severe exchange rate volatilities, prompting people to call for full dollarisation.

The Zimbabwe dollar crashed by 60% against the United States dollar in May, underlining a raging economic crisis that has wiped salaries and sent prices soaring.

But in his address to delegates attending the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe (CoMZ) annual conference in Victoria Falls last week, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mangudya ruled out dollarisation, arguing the country did not have capacity to dollarise.

Cross concurred with Mangudya, saying the central bank did not have any reserves of currency.

“The Reserve Bank does not have any reserves of currency at all and neither do we as a country and it is one of the weaknesses of our monetary system,” he said.

“The government has certain reserves based on revenue from taxes, but those are very limited.”

Cross said the country was effectively dollarising, and this was likely to have a severe impact on the domestic economy.

“It is not in our interest at all to see the local dollar collapse as it did in 2008. The question is, what do we do to protect the Zimbabwe dollar and make it more representative of our average daily needs,” he said.

“For this to happen, the Reserve Bank has to stop printing money in excess of the growth rate of the basic economy and in addition we must have a market for foreign exchange, which represents the real trade situation in the country. That is not on the auction system.”

Mnangagwa: Opposition And The West Are Causing Suffering Through Sanctions, Dollar Attack

By Farai D Hove | President Emmerson Mnangagwa speaking in Masvingo yesterday spoke claiming that the imposition of western sanctions on his country is a major factor contributing to the economic and humanitarian challenges faced by Zimbabweans.

He said (video) the opposition supported by their western handlers are causing suffering through sanctions and the attack on our currency.

While some analysits agree with Mnangagwa, others question the validity of this claim. In this article, we will delve into the complex issue of western sanctions and their impact on Zimbabwe, analyzing the arguments put forth by both supporters and critics of Mnangagwa’s claim.

1. Understanding the Western Sanctions:
To grasp the situation, it is crucial to understand the nature of the western sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe. Following allegations of electoral misconduct and human rights abuses during the presidency of Robert Mugabe, the European Union (EU), the United States, and other countries implemented targeted sanctions on certain individuals and entities in Zimbabwe. These sanctions included travel bans, asset freezes, and restrictions on financial transactions.

Emmerson Mnangagwa

2. Mnangagwa’s Claim:
President Mnangagwa argues that the western sanctions have hindered Zimbabwe’s economic growth and development, leading to widespread suffering among the people. He asserts that these measures have limited the country’s access to international financial institutions, discouraged foreign investment, and impeded the government’s ability to address pressing issues such as poverty and unemployment.

3. Proponents of Mnangagwa’s Claim:
Supporters of Mnangagwa’s claim argue that the sanctions have indeed contributed to Zimbabwe’s economic woes. They contend that the restrictions have made it difficult for the government to attract foreign investment, access lines of credit, and modernize crucial sectors like agriculture and infrastructure. They also argue that the sanctions perpetuate a negative perception of Zimbabwe, making it harder for the country to recover economically.

4. Critics of Mnangagwa’s Claim:
Critics of Mnangagwa’s claim present a different perspective. They argue that the economic challenges in Zimbabwe are rooted in internal factors such as corruption, mismanagement, and policy failures. They suggest that the government’s misallocation of resources, lack of transparency, and failure to implement necessary reforms are key factors driving the suffering experienced by Zimbabweans. Critics also point out that other African countries facing similar sanctions have managed to attract investment and improve their economies through effective governance and policy implementation.

-Broader Impact and Alternative Views:
While the debate on the impact of sanctions continues, it is essential to consider alternative viewpoints. Some experts argue that the focus should shift towards encouraging the Zimbabwean government to undertake meaningful reforms, address corruption, and improve governance. They contend that lifting sanctions without tangible progress in these areas could perpetuate the same problems that led to their imposition in the first place.

6. Humanitarian Concerns:
Regardless of the impact of sanctions, it is important to recognize the humanitarian consequences suffered by ordinary Zimbabweans. The country faces challenges such as high inflation, unemployment, inadequate healthcare, and food insecurity. Addressing these pressing issues should remain a priority for the government and the international community.

Evaluating the validity of President Mnangagwa’s claim that western sanctions are causing suffering in Zimbabwe requires a nuanced analysis of the complex factors at play. While some argue that the sanctions have hindered the country’s economic growth, others emphasize internal factors such as corruption and mismanagement. Moving forward, a comprehensive approach involving policy reforms, good governance, and targeted humanitarian assistance will be crucial in alleviating the suffering of the Zimbabwean people, regardless of the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of western sanctions.

Lumumba Blocked

Concerned faculty, staff, and students at the University of Cape Town have protested Professor Patrick Lumumba’s appearance at the EFF’s 10th anniversary festivities by starting a petition.
Lumumba must not be permitted to address the university community at the lecture that will take place in Sarah Baartman Hall, according to the concerned UCT LGBTIQA+ Staff and Allies.

Emeritus Professor Daya Reddy, the interim vice-chancellor of UCT, has been targeted by the petition, which objects and labels Lumumba as anti-LGBT.

This comes after Lumumba acknowledged in the past that he harbored homophobic views and publicly criticized homosexual Africans as being “unnatural” on multiple media channels.

However, as part of the EFF’s 10 year anniversary festivities, he has been invited by the organisation to give a public lecture on campus on July 24, 2023.

“We believe that by providing Professor Lumumba a platform on campus to deliver a public lecture, UCT signals its tacit acceptance of his homophobic and, in South Africa, unconstitutional pronouncements, which border on hate speech,” UCT’s sociology department’s Dr Natasha Vally said.

“He congratulated Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni for signing into Ugandan law the Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2023, which further criminalises LGBTQIA people in Uganda,” she said.

Vally argued that allowing a self-admitted homophobe to continue with a public lecture on their campus signalled to LGBTIQA+ staff and students that they were not valued or safe in their workplace and place of study.

“While we call on the UCT to not provide any space for Prof Lumumba to speak, we find it notably unacceptable that a lecture by such a hateful and divisive figure be held in a hall renamed to honour Sarah Baartman, an indigenous woman trafficked, kept in captivity, and sexually abused by colonialists who sought to dehumanise her,“ Vally said.

Vally added that preventing homophobic speech and denying access to public platforms for homophobes was not about silencing dissenting opinions or stifling debate.

In response, UCT spokesperson, Elijah Moholola, said that the event in question was not a UCT event, but an event that was scheduled to be hosted on the UCT campus by an external party.

“This is in line with similar previous external events hosted on campus, including but not limited to corporate or sporting events.

“It should be noted that UCT management is not in any way involved in the programme for events hosted by external parties on campus, nor does management necessarily align with the hosting external parties or any views held or expressed by any speaker,” Moholola said.

Moholola added that the university had noted with concern the comments that had subsequently been made by the speaker and the critical conversations that had emerged as a result. He urged the external host and the concerned parties to engage these accordingly.

Teenage Mum Dumps Baby In Toilet

By Dorrothy Moyo | A fourth-form student in Filabusi gave birth and dumped the child in a pit latrine.

The infant was retrieved, but regrettably passed away en route to the hospital, according to the Police’s Twitter account. The incident had place in the province of Matabeleland South’s Filabusi.

“Police in Filabusi are investigating a case of concealing birth which occurred at a secondary school on 07/06/23. A Form 4 student gave birth to a baby in the toilet before dumping it into the pit.

The baby died on the way to the clinic after being retrieved from the pit latrine alive.”

Teenage pregnancy is a significant social issue that can have long-lasting effects on the lives of young girls. In Zimbabwe, like many other countries, adolescent pregnancy remains a concern, impacting the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Factors contributing to teenage pregnancy in Zimbabwe are varied.

Socio-Cultural Factors:

Early Marriage: In Zimbabwe, cultural norms and traditional practices, particularly in rural areas, often encourage early marriage. Girls are sometimes married off at a young age, making them vulnerable to early pregnancies.

Gender Inequality: Gender inequalities persist in Zimbabwe, limiting educational opportunities for girls. This lack of access to education increases their vulnerability to early pregnancies as they may lack the knowledge and resources to prevent them.

Education and Awareness:

Limited Comprehensive Sexuality Education: The availability of comprehensive sexuality education in Zimbabwe is limited, leaving many teenagers uninformed about reproductive health and contraception. The lack of knowledge contributes to unplanned pregnancies.

Stigma Surrounding Contraception: Some communities in Zimbabwe hold negative attitudes toward contraceptive use, leading to limited access and usage among teenagers. This lack of awareness and availability increases the chances of teenage girls getting pregnant.

Socio-Economic Factors:
1. Poverty: Economic hardship and poverty often lead to limited access to healthcare, including reproductive health services. Teenagers from low-income backgrounds may lack resources such as contraception and proper healthcare, increasing their vulnerability to pregnancy.
2. Limited Economic Opportunities: Limited job prospects for young people, particularly in rural areas, can result in teenage girls having limited aspirations for their future. This lack of economic opportunity may contribute to early motherhood as an alternative path.

Healthcare Services:
1. Inadequate Reproductive Healthcare: Access to quality reproductive healthcare services, including contraceptives and antenatal care, remains a challenge in Zimbabwe. The limited availability of these services reduces the chances for teenage girls to prevent or manage pregnancies effectively.
2. Teen-Friendly Healthcare Services: Establishing adolescent-friendly healthcare services, where young people can access confidential and non-judgmental care, can improve reproductive health outcomes. Creating safe spaces for teenagers to seek guidance and support can help reduce teenage pregnancies.

Prevention and Intervention Strategies:
1. Comprehensive Sexuality Education: Expanding comprehensive sexuality education programs in schools and communities can equip teenagers with accurate information about sexual and reproductive health, empowering them to make informed decisions and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
2. Engaging Community Leaders: Collaborating with community leaders, religious institutions, and traditional authorities can help challenge harmful cultural norms, promote gender equality, and address misconceptions surrounding contraception.

Youth Empowerment and Economic Opportunities: Creating economic opportunities for young people can empower teenage girls and provide them with alternatives to early parenthood. Promoting vocational training, entrepreneurship, and job creation can improve their socio-economic prospects.

Addressing the issue of teenage pregnancies in Zimbabwe requires a multi-faceted approach that considers socio-cultural factors, education, healthcare services, and socio-economic conditions. By implementing comprehensive sexuality education, improving access to reproductive healthcare, challenging harmful cultural norms, and promoting economic opportunities, Zimbabwe can work towards reducing the chances of teenage girls getting pregnant, ultimately empowering young girls to lead fulfilling lives and contribute positively to society.

Zim Needs New Leaders

VOTE CCC: The Zim dollar tumbles uncontrollably, resulting in exorbitant prices, such as Z$9999.99 for a loaf of bread and Z$35 0000 for a 500g packet of Cerevita, rendering them unaffordable for the majority of citizens.

With civil servants earning salaries in RTGS, ranging between Z$80 000- $200 000, they suffer the most from these skyrocketing prices. Sadly, Minister of Finance Mthuli Ncube seems more preoccupied with personal endeavors, such as focusing on Cowdray Park Constituency, instead of addressing the country’s financial woes. ZACC Arrested Car Robbers Released

Yesterday, two auto dealers who had been detained by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for allegedly importing vehicles using forged letters for rebates from the civil service made their court appearances.
Wilberforce Ruzvidzo (33) of Wiltec and Nyasha Muusha (31) of Naisha Motors both faced fraud charges when they appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr. Stanford Mambanje.

They were held until July 28 on a $100,000 bail apiece. Mr. Pardon Dziva, the prosecutor, stated that Muusha purchased a 2013 silver Mercedes Benz from Japan sometime in April of last year.

He conspired with Ruzvidzo to facilitate the acquisition of a civil servant rebate letter from Yvonne Tambudzai Musoni, a Zimra officer who is still at large, despite knowing full well that he is not a civil servant and is ineligible for exemption of duty under the civil servant motor vehicle rebate scheme.

Without Jackson Joseph Chingondo’s knowledge, Musoni processed the rebate letter under his name as a member of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services.

“We are the only party that has people’s interests at heart.

We have a record of fighting for the people’s freedom since the days of the liberation struggle.

As you know, we are known for fighting and even spilling blood like what happened during the war of liberation,” said Mnangagwa.

He also threatened to deal with people he described as economic saboteurs.

“Vote for the ruling party, not those who will never rule this country. We are in charge.

“Vote for the ruling party, not those who will never rule this country. We are in charge.

We know what is happening, the western countries are working with the opposition in a bid to remove us from office.

They are manipulating prices of basic commodities but we will put them in their right place.”

Will Jah Prayzah Ignite Germany as Bob Marley Did in the 1970s?

Bob Marley’s 1977 gig

Jah Prayzah poses for a picture with Germany’s ambassador, Udo Volz in preparation for this trip to Europe.

By Showbiz Reporter | In the vibrant world of music, certain artists possess a unique ability to transcend borders, cultures, and languages, leaving an indelible mark on audiences worldwide. Bob Marley, the legendary reggae icon, is one such artist who managed to captivate the world with his powerful music and profound messages during the 1970s. Today, as Zimbabwean singer Jah Prayzah visits the German embassy in Harare, preparing for his journey to Hamburg, some wonder if he has the potential to set alight Germany in the same way that Bob Marley did over four decades ago. Let us delve into this intriguing question and explore the possibilities.

Cultural Significance:

Bob Marley’s music went far beyond the realms of entertainment; it became a symbol of resistance, freedom, and unity. His powerful lyrics resonated with people across different backgrounds, sparking a global movement of consciousness and social change. Jah Prayzah, on the other hand, is renowned for his infectious Afro-pop sound infused with traditional Zimbabwean rhythms. While his music appeals to a wide audience within Africa, its impact on the international stage remains to be seen.

Musical Style and Message:

Bob Marley’s reggae sound was unique and instantly recognizable, blending elements of ska, rocksteady, and traditional Jamaican music. Moreover, his messages of love, peace, and social justice struck a chord with listeners worldwide, transcending language barriers. Jah Prayzah, known for his lyrical prowess and cultural pride, has the potential to captivate audiences through his soulful melodies and thought-provoking themes. However, the German audience may have different expectations and musical preferences, posing a challenge for him to replicate Marley’s universal appeal.

Socio-Political Context:

The 1970s were a politically charged era, with many countries undergoing social and political transformations. Bob Marley’s music served as a voice for the marginalized and oppressed, inspiring change and encouraging unity. Germany today has its own unique socio-political landscape, and while Jah Prayzah’s music touches on social issues and encourages national pride, connecting with German audiences will require a deeper understanding of their specific context and concerns.

Concert Culture and Live Performances:

One aspect that played a significant role in Bob Marley’s success was his energetic and captivating live performances. Marley’s charisma, combined with his band’s electrifying stage presence, created an unforgettable experience for concertgoers. Jah Prayzah, with his energetic stage presence and dynamic performances, has the potential to create a similar impact. However, it is important to recognize that the concert culture and expectations of German audiences may differ from those of other regions, demanding adaptability and an understanding of their tastes.

While the comparison between Jah Prayzah and Bob Marley is intriguing, it is crucial to acknowledge that the music landscape and cultural dynamics have evolved significantly since the 1970s. Bob Marley’s impact on Germany was a product of a unique set of circumstances and the unparalleled power of his music. Jah Prayzah possesses immense talent and has achieved great success within his own country and continent, but whether he can replicate the same level of influence in Germany remains uncertain.

As Jah Prayzah embarks on his journey to Hamburg, we can anticipate a fusion of cultures and a celebration of music. It is through this cultural exchange that the potential for Jah Prayzah to leave a lasting impact on the German music scene may emerge. Whether he will set Germany alight in the same manner as Bob Marley is a question that can only be answered with time and the reception of his music by German audiences.

Vultureity Hits Zimbabwe: Mavaza

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza  | We shall witness many troublemakers taking photos and posting them solely for their own gain as Zimbabwe gets ready for elections. They won’t even consider the nation they will be destroying and demonising. We’ll have individuals who are satanic, demonic, and evil and who aim to harm the reputation of our nation.

Vulture- National Georgraphic

This makes me think of the late South African journalist Kevin Carter.

A widely shared photograph of a vulture waiting for a malnourished little girl to die so it might feast on her corpse surfaced in the 1990s. Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist who later won the Pulitzer Prize for this “amazing shot,” took the picture during the Sudanese famine of 1993–1994.

Kevin Carter only had a few months to enjoy his purported achievement and fame, as he eventually became despondent and committed suicide! *However, as he was relishing his feat and being praised for such a “exceptional photographic skill” on major news stations and networks around the world, Kevin Carter committed suicide!

*Kevin Carter’s sadness began when a caller inquired about the fate of the little girl during one of these conversations (a phone-in programme). I didn’t wait to find out after this photo since I had a trip to catch,” he merely said in response. “I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day, one had a camera,” the caller continued.

As a result, his persistent reflection on that statement eventually contributed to his melancholy and finally led to his death. If Kevin Carter had simply picked up the young child and carried her to the United Nations Feeding Centre, where she was seeking to reach, or at the very least taken her to somewhere secure, he might still be alive today and even far more renowned.

Sadly, Zimbabwe is currently experiencing this. Some people take pleasure in being foolish and acting cruelly towards others. They’ll circulate false information and give the impression that Zimbabwe is on fire. To appease their controllers, they will post fabricated images of violence. Their acts will never aid Zimbabwe; instead, they will ruin it. Kevin Carter should have pulled the girl out of that situation, and doing so would have cost him nothing, but he chose not to. “He had all the time to take his shot, but he had no time to save the girl’s life,” is the inhuman stance displayed here. Some people will have time to distribute false information about Zimbabwe but not enough time to do the opposite. Not harmful rumour mongers, but positive thinkers are what Zimbabwe needs.
We must all comprehend that life’s mission is to affect people, as well. How many lives will you touch during this election season? Are you a vulture as well? Let Zimbabwe be the priority in whatever we do, not what we stand to gain from the situation. Let’s keep Zimbabwe in mind at all times and consider how we might help the country. How we may offer support and wipe away tears would cheer up the masses of Zimbabweans who are willing to cast peaceful votes. Therefore, let’s consider how we might use information, income, fame, abilities, or even positions to help individuals and society as a whole. Instead of people who are paid to appease their masters, Zimbabwe needs people who are patriotic.
Keep in mind that you have the most to do with bringing about peace and tranquilly in Zimbabwe. Please think of Zimbawe and humanity rather than acting like Kevin Carter.
Tranquillity is the owner of the gate and misfortune would be upon if you misbehave, as my haughty primary school teacher from Mberi Primary School in Chitungwiza used to say. Making your country appear terrible by inciting violence simply to grab photos, you are the second vulture.
Don’t encourage violence and unrest; Zimbabwe can hold elections in peace. It is shocking and extremely disappointing how some of us are eager to commit acts of violence in order to satisfy the demands of our oppressors. The whole knee shaking thing.
Beware, if we lack humanity in whatever we do, we are not humans.
We can only claim one nation as our own. We only have Zimbabwe as a country. Stop defaming your nation.
I am one of the basa.

Video Of President Mnangagwa Being Poetically Chased Out

By Farai D Hove | President Emmerson Mnangagwa was met with public humiliation in a file video portrayed as of Masvingo on Friday in which one of his party convoy trucks was ‘poetically’chased out of Zimbabwe’s spiritual capital city.

The incident happened as Mnangagwa had assembled to address party loyals in Masvingo for a rally. In the clip, a group of youths tell him and his aides, “no one of going to vote for you this time, you are thick thieves; go away!,” said one of the youths as they physically chased the expensive white truck off the field area.

The last time something like this happened in the area in 2017, the sitting President was swiftly removed within weeks of the screams that said, “we no longer want to be ruled by Harare.”

Masvingo is very spiritual because not only do the nation’s ancestors hail from Masvingo, but the world’s arguably oldest intellectual civilisation sits here where building structures remain intact nearly thousand years later without any computer or cement to hold them together.

Analyzing the Impact of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Humiliation and its Significance for Zimbabwe’s Future

Emmerson Mnangagwa, the incumbent President of Zimbabwe, on Friday faced a significant incident of humiliation when one of his party convoy vehicles was chased by an angry crowd in the country’s most spiritually significant city, Masvingo, as ZimEye reveals (Video). This incident holds profound implications for Zimbabwe’s future, particularly as the nation prepares for the 2023 elections. In this article, we will analyze the impact of this event on both Mnangagwa’s political standing and the broader political landscape of Zimbabwe.

The Incident and its Symbolic Significance:
The incident of Emmerson Mnangagwa being pursued by an enraged crowd carries considerable symbolic weight due to its occurrence in a spiritually significant city. Symbolically, the incident represents a breach of trust and disillusionment among the people towards their leader. It signifies a deep-seated frustration and dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, which has culminated in a public display of anger and defiance.

Political Consequences for Emmerson Mnangagwa:
The humiliation experienced by Mnangagwa has immediate and long-term consequences for his political career. In the short term, the incident serves as a dent to his public image and leadership credibility. It exposes a significant vulnerability, making it difficult for him to assert authority and maintain the perception of control over the country.

Furthermore, the incident provides ammunition to Mnangagwa’s political opponents, who can leverage it to undermine his legitimacy. They can portray him as a leader disconnected from the needs and aspirations of the people, reinforcing the narrative that his government has failed to address pressing issues such as economic stability, corruption, and human rights concerns. This incident may encourage opposition parties to intensify their campaigns and capitalize on the disillusionment felt by the public.

Impact on the Broader Political Landscape:
The incident’s repercussions extend beyond Mnangagwa himself, influencing the overall political landscape in Zimbabwe. The angry crowd’s pursuit of the President reflects widespread discontentment among the populace, suggesting a growing desire for change. The incident could galvanize opposition movements, unifying disparate factions and strengthening their resolve to challenge Mnangagwa’s rule.

The incident also has the potential to mobilize civil society organizations, grassroots activists, and disenchanted citizens who have long sought political reforms. The humiliation suffered by Mnangagwa may serve as a rallying cry, further energizing the opposition and igniting public demands for greater accountability, transparency, and democratic governance.

Significance for the 2023 Elections:
As Zimbabwe approaches the 2023 elections, the incident’s significance looms large. Mnangagwa’s humiliation could undermine his party’s chances of securing a victory. The incident has punctured the aura of invincibility surrounding the ruling party, eroding their claim to political legitimacy and leaving room for the opposition to present itself as a credible alternative.

Moreover, the incident’s aftermath may influence voter sentiment, with disgruntled citizens viewing it as a compelling reason to support opposition candidates. It could lead to a surge in voter turnout, as disillusioned individuals seek to voice their discontent through the ballot box. The opposition will likely leverage this momentum, campaigning on promises of change, economic reform, and a restoration of democratic norms.

The humiliation suffered by Emmerson Mnangagwa during the incident in Zimbabwe’s spiritually significant city carries profound implications for both his political future and Zimbabwe’s broader political landscape. As the country gears up for the 2023 elections, this incident serves as a wake-up call to the ruling party, highlighting the urgent need for addressing public grievances and reconnecting with the aspirations of the people. It also energizes the opposition and mobilizes civil society, providing an opportunity for political change and a renewed focus on democratic values in Zimbabwe.

Renowned Zimbabwean Journalist Charles Dzimwasha Takes a Stand Against Controversial Patriotic Bill

By A Correspondent| Harare, Zimbabwe – In a bold move that has sparked widespread debate and controversy, exiled Zimbabwean journalist based in Australia, Charles Dzimwasha has voiced his vehement opposition to the recently passed Patriotic Bill in parliament.

Dzimwasha, known for his unwavering commitment to press freedom and democratic values, has emerged as a prominent critic of the legislation, which he believes poses a significant threat to fundamental human rights and freedom of expression.

Speaking from his base in Australia yesterday, Dzimwasha delivered a passionate speech, denouncing the controversial bill and its potential consequences for the nation. With conviction in his voice, he warned that the legislation could have far-reaching implications for the country’s democratic progress and independent journalism.

“This Patriotic Bill is a direct attack on our freedom of expression and an attempt to stifle dissenting voices,” Dzimwasha stated firmly. “As journalists, it is our duty to hold those in power accountable and to provide a platform for diverse perspectives. This bill severely restricts our ability to fulfill that crucial role and undermines the principles of a democratic society.”

Dzimwasha, a seasoned journalist with a wealth of experience, expressed concerns that the bill could be used as a tool to target and silence critical voices in the media. He stressed the importance of a free press in promoting transparency, fostering public debate, and safeguarding democracy.

“The role of journalists is to shine a light on the truth, to uncover corruption, and to provide a voice for the voiceless,” Dzimwasha asserted. “By stifling our ability to report objectively and independently, this bill jeopardizes the very essence of our profession and threatens the democratic fabric of our nation.”

The Patriotic Bill, which was recently approved by the parliament, has garnered mixed reactions from both the public and various civil society organizations. While some argue that the legislation aims to protect national security and foster unity, critics like Dzimwasha fear that it will be exploited to suppress dissent and curtail freedom of expression.

Echoing these concerns, Dzimwasha emphasized the need for robust public discourse and called upon fellow journalists, civil society groups, and citizens to unite in opposition to the bill.

“We cannot afford to remain silent in the face of such a blatant assault on our democratic rights,” Dzimwasha proclaimed. “It is our responsibility to uphold the principles of a free press, and we must stand together to ensure that the voices of the people are heard and respected.”

His stance has ignited a renewed sense of urgency among advocates for press freedom, who are now rallying together to challenge the controversial legislation through legal avenues and public advocacy.

As the nation grapples with the ramifications of the Patriotic Bill, the impassioned words of Charles Dzimwasha continue to reverberate, reminding Zimbabweans of the vital importance of protecting democratic values and preserving the hard-fought freedoms that define their nation.

Xenophobia Resurfaces In Diepsloot SA, As Residents Target Foreigners, Destroy Their Shacks

By James Gwati- Xenophonia has re-surfaced in Diepsloot, Gauteng Province, Friday with residents targeting foreign nationals accusing them of committing crimes in the area.

The residents are also destroying shacks belonging to foreign nationals calling for heads.

According to NewzRoom Afrika, the residents decided to take the law into their hands after being ‘let down’ by the police, whom they are also accusing of taking bribes from ‘illegal’ foreign nationals.

Last year in April, Diepsloot residents murdered Zimbabwean Elvis Nyathi.

Nyathi was assaulted and burnt to death by a group of Diepsloot residents.

Seven people were later arrested for the murder, and the case is still pending before the courts.

Budding author exposes Tagwirei’s state  and church capture

By Rosemary  Mafara| An ex-communicated Seventh Day Adventist church pastor has written a book which seemingly attacks businessman Kuda Tagwirei’s growing influence in the politics of this country and the SDA church.

According to impeccable sources, the book ‘The Poor Men’s Cartel’ by Munyaradzi ‘Angero’ Savanhu is just a tip of the iceberg on the  divisions that have rocked the SDA church owing to  ‘KT’ s (Kuda Tagwirei) control of the congregation.

“A lot is happening in the SDA church and Angero has been brave enough to expose how money  being pampered by Kuda Tagwirei has blinded some pastors and elders in the church leaving a lot of undesirables things happening in the church,” said a source close to the development.

Another source claimed that a number of critical media outlets were paid to black out the book which was launched last month.

” The book is explosive and you would have expected to have  wide media reviews but we understand money exchanged hands to keep it under the lid,” claimed the source.

In the book, a character Mambokadzi whom one can easily assume as Kuda Tagwirei, became so powerful in ‘Zimbeland’ that no one would dare him.

” National assets were relinquished into the hands of the Mbinga, Mambokadzi the man. The nation was indebted to him, he used to lend it money and would be reimbursed by being given national assets and parastatals.

” In less than five years he was owning the soil that the masses walked on, and probably, every head present in the land. No one could speak his name freely in the marketplace, without fear of being chocked by his dogs,” writes Angero.

Detailing how Mambokadzi has a firm grip in the church, Savanhu says.

” Mambokadzi, was undoubtedly the most powerful captor of the day. He was a lion, garbed in sheep raiment. His money found its way into religious organisations as donations but with conditions.

” As the clergymen ate cakes in a poverty-stricken nation, they sang songs of  honour and praise. The holy pulpit was for Mambokadzi and his  symphathisers,”he adds.

According to a source, Tagwirei and advocate Thabani Mpofu do not see each other eye to eye and this is confirmed in the book.

” Farai Mhofu mocked the clergymen who acted like zombies while shielding their godfather Mambokadzi, “reads part of the book.

Interestingly, the book was dedicated to Thabani Mpofu.

” Dedicated to Advocate Thabani Sibangani Mpofu, for his exemplary bravery and courage in the fight for justice and equality, “.

The fiery author reveals the influence Tagwirei has in the SDA church which he chose to name Remnant.

” Outsiders to the spiritual gravy train of the Remnant Church would question the Mambokadzi  School of Thought, but their local Shepherds would dismiss this sentiments with a simple biblical reference :Then he said to the men, the one who is sinless should throw the first stone.

“Hear no evil and speak no evil,” the church was taught, by leaders who were Mambokadzi’s pawns, and benefitted from selling their goats and sheep in the temple, “.

Former Zanu PF activist Acie Lumumba a few years ago spoke of one Queen Bee whom he accused of being the architect of all the corrupt activities in the country but can’t be stopped because he is feared. It is not clear whether it is the same Queen Bee who is being referred to as Mambokadzi in the book.

Biti’s Defamation Challenge Struck Off The Roll

The US$1million civil lawsuit against CCC politician Tendai Biti for allegedly defaming the owner of land development company Augur Investments, Mr Kenneth Sharpe, his company and another senior executive can now proceed.

This follows the failure of his application for leave to appeal at the Supreme Court against a High court decision that Mr Sharpe could proceed. The application was struck off the roll, with costs. Augur and Mr Sharpe launched the defamation lawsuit against Mr Biti three years ago after the politician, in his Twitter handle, named him as the most corrupt person looting Zimbabwe’s resources.

However, Mr Biti objected to the lawsuit but lost the case at High Court by way of a default judgment entered against him.

Mr Biti then approached the Supreme Court seeking leave to appeal against the decision that had dismissed an exception to the defamation summons he had raised in the lower court.

But after hearing arguments on Wednesday, Justice Alfas Chitakunye, sitting in chambers, struck the appeal application off the roll with costs on the basis that the motion was improper before the court.

The judge noted that the order of the High Court, which Mr Biti sought to challenge, was a default judgment hence the politician had to purge his default in the lower court first, and so had jumped the gun by approaching the Supreme Court.

The application was also filed after the lapse of the mandatory 10-day period stipulated in the Supreme Court rules within which he had to approach the court after the High Court refused leave to appeal, said Justice Chitakunye.

In this case, Biti should have first sought condonation to file his application out of time but failed to comply with the rules of the court.

Augur Investments is seeking US$500 000 damages from Mr Biti, split as follows: Mr Sharpe US$400 000, and Chief Operations Officer Tatiana Aleshina US$100 000.

Mr Sharpe also cited the opposition party for pursuing a malicious agenda based on Mr Biti’s tweets.

Sometime in December 2020, Mr Biti is alleged to have further published two other defamatory statements concerning Mr Sharpe and Ms Aleshina and several other prominent business people that he named as amongst a coterie of elite looters that were allegedly bleeding Zimbabwe.

Advocate Daphne Sanhanga instructed by Mr Bright Mahuni of Scanlen and Holderness acted for Augur and its executives, while Professor Lovemore Madhuku represented Mr Biti.

Economy Being Run In An Amateurish Way, Says Biti

Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti said the Zimbabwean economy should not be run in an amateurish way and called for immediate dollarisation among a plethora of measures to stop the bleeding.

The Harare East Member of Parliament said there is need for immediate action to stop the economy from its current bleeding state and one of the actions to take is to pay civil servants in United States dollars and promote a culture of saving.

His comments come amid rising inflation and runaway exchange rate at formal and informal markets.

Prices of basic commodities have shot to levels beyond the reach of many.

“What it means is that (Finance Minister Professor) Mthuli Ncube and the government are failing to control the exchange rate which is running away and inflation that is running away,” Biti told Business Times last night.

“You cannot run an economy like a boozers (soccer) club. It’s like old-fashioned football of yesteryear, the kick and run kind of football hoping it will just hit the head of someone and just hope it will end in the nets.”

On what he would do to normalise the crisis, Biti said: “As a matter of urgency I would dollarise.”

“I would float the Zimbabwe dollar to find its actual mark, I will scrap the auction system, scratch export surrender requirements. I will pay the civil servants in US dollars and don’t tell me there is no money, there is the money,” he said, adding that there is also a need to pay pensioners in US dollars.

“I would call for the restoration of savings and most importantly, I will stop corruption. Zimbabwe is losing US$3bn from illicit financial flows. We have to stop the corruption.”

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Makoni Central MP David Tekeshe said high inflation has eroded the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) before they are being disbursed.

“I went into a shop today and I was shocked to find that the local currency was around ZW$6 000 and ordinary people can no longer afford bread. We need to come to the point of CDF, which is just lying idle because no one wants the RTGS and they charge the black-market rate. The request is that Parliament could negotiate to benefit from the auction floor so that this is looked into because ZW$21 million has gone down to US$4 000 and is no longer enough for the constituency.”

Acting speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi said Tekeshe was raising critical issues that needed to be immediately addressed.

“We are going to notify the responsible authority, particularly the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, so that he looks into the issue of the CDF which is ZW$21m. Indeed, it has been eroded by inflation and as inflation continues, it continues to lose its value.”

Mutambara Rates Mnangagwa As Average And Incompetent

By A Correspondent| Arthur Mutambara, the former Deputy Prime Minister, has expressed his support for Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), in the upcoming general elections on August 23.

In an exclusive interview with Heart & Soul TV (HSTV), Mutambara criticized Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of the ruling Zanu PF party and presidential candidate, describing him as an average and incompetent leader.

During the interview on HSTV’s FreeTalk program, Mutambara commended Chamisa’s leadership, stating, “I have a lot of respect for my colleagues in the CCC. I have a lot of respect for President Chamisa. He is doing a great job.”

Mutambara further mentioned that he privately advises the CCC and acknowledges that they have room for improvement.

Mutambara, who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2009 to 2013 representing the MDC-M during the Government of National Unity, expressed concerns about the fairness of the electoral process.

He cited issues such as the voters’ roll, where names were missing, and the harassment of political opposition members.

Mutambara emphasized that an election cannot be considered legitimate when opponents are locked up and prevented from holding political rallies.

The former Deputy Prime Minister accused Mnangagwa’s government of corruption and incompetence, comparing him unfavorably to the late Robert Mugabe.

According to Mutambara, Mnangagwa lacks finesse and exhibits blatant corruption and incompetence.

Regarding his own political future, Mutambara hinted at a possible return to active politics if the current administration continues to fail.

Currently involved in teaching as a professor and director at the University of the Future of Knowledge, Mutambara stated, “If they continue failing, I might have to reconsider my retirement, but for now, I am keeping my options open.”

Supreme Court Bid To Reverse Joint Venture Deal Flops

A group seeking to reverse a 2007 joint venture deal between Harare City Council and Ken Sharpe’s Augur Investments failed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, barely a year after a lower court had dismissed the case.

The Zimbabwe Homeless People’s Federation (ZHPF), Knowledge Kwabana and Warship Dumba approached the Supreme Court to get permission to appeal against a High Court ruling by Justice David Mangota. Last year, Justice Mangota dismissed their case on the basis that it has no locus standi.

In the Supreme Court on Wednesday. the matter could not be heard before Justice Nicholas Mathonsi as ZHPF failed to comply with rules.

ZHPF, Kwabana and Dumba approached the courts in 2021 for the land transfer to be undone and the joint venture between HCC and Augur cancelled and declared a nullity. The joint venture had created Sunshine Development.

The applicants alleged that those that signed the agreement were not authorised and that the transaction also broke the investment and procurement laws.

However, the application was dismissed by Justice Mangota, who ruled that the agreement was a matter of public record. The respondents argued that the claim was prescribed, the applicants had no locus standi and that the application was riddled with material disputes of facts which were incapable of being resolved on the papers alone.

“The applicant [ZHPF] which claims to have a keen interest in the affairs of good governance in Harare cannot suggest that it was unaware of the agreements which the parties signed in 2007 up until 2021 (14 years) when it filed the current application,” Justice Mangota said.

“Given its interest in the affairs of the City of Harare, the applicant cannot be said to have been unaware of the agreements from 2010 to 2021″.

In its assessment of all submissions, the court established that one of the applicants, Dumba, had been aware of the agreements because he did the land audit and was chairman of the special investigation committee from 2008 to 2013 which enquired into Harare City Council’s land sales and could not now say he did not know about agreements between 2010 to 2021.

The court showed that applicants did not have the right to sue as locus standi cannot come from simply being interested in something and must show a real relationship to the person they are suing.

The court further said the applicants did not have any rights to the land and “it is so far-fetched it can’t hold”, ‘it has no existing, future nor contingent right in that land’ and was “shooting in the dark”.

“The applicant should have foreseen that its prejudice allegations would be seriously disputed and should have proceeded by way of action” Justice Mangota ruled.

He ruled that the ZHPF cannot escape the sins of its own conduct.

“The Federation shall not be accorded a second bite of the cherry. Its case on the respondents stands on no leg. The application is in the result dismissed with costs,” Justice Mangota ruled.

Sunshine Development is a joint venture company with the objective of building middle income houses and a hotel at Mabelreign Golf Course, develop a commercial centre at Hopley and Mukuvisi.

Is Mnangagwa Conferment of Hero Status on Late Ndabaningi Sithole in Chipinge an Election Strategy?

By Jane Mlambo| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has announced its intention to officially confer national hero status on the late pioneering nationalist Ndabaningi Sithole in Chipinge on Saturday.

Ndabaningi Sithole, who served as the founding Zanu leader and was also a clergyman, passed away in the United States in December 2000.

During his lifetime, he was denied hero status by the late former President Robert Mugabe due to historical animosity stemming from the liberation struggle in the 1970s.

However, last year, Mnangagwa posthumously conferred national hero status on Sithole, a former lawmaker from Chipinge. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement on Thursday announcing the Conferment of National Hero Status Ceremony for the late Reverend Ndabaningi Chandiwana Sithole, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 10th.

Sithole is recognized as an unacknowledged hero of Zimbabwe’s liberation from colonial rule, having faced persecution from Mugabe over the years. His legacy still holds great significance in his former Ndau enclave in Chipinge.

The ministry further revealed that the main event would be held at Emerald Hill School in Mt. Selinda, Chipinge District, and would be open to the public.

Additionally, a private church service, led by the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ), Sithole’s former church, will be conducted at the family homestead.

This particular service will be attended by the guest of honor, senior government officials, party officials, and a limited number of invited guests.

The move to confer hero status on Sithole has sparked debates, with critics arguing that it is a strategic maneuver by Mnangagwa’s government to gain political favor during the election season.

Mutambara Throws Weight Behind Chamisa

Former Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara has thrown his weight behind Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa’s candidature ahead of the August 23 general elections.

In an exclusive interview with a local online TV, Mutambara described Zanu PF leader and presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa as an average and incompetent leader.

“I have a lot of respect for my colleagues in the CCC.  I have a lot of respect for president Chamisa. He is doing a great job,” Mutambara said.

“I try as much as I can to advise quietly, but they are doing a good job and they deserve our support.

“They could fix one or two things here and there but I communicate privately and tell them what I think can been done,” added Mutambara.

Mutambara, however, warned that it would be difficult to change the status quo citing the unfair playing field which favours the ruling Zanu PF party.

“It’s a tragedy because I don’t see anything positive coming out of this election because already there is the story around the voters roll, where people go and can’t find their names. The voters roll is not available to the opposition. The political opposition is being harassed. Job Sikhala (CCC MP for Zengeza West) and  (Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob) Ngarivhume are locked up as we speak.

“What kind of election can we have when your opponents are locked up and cannot have political rallies?”

Mutambara accused Mnangagwa’s government of being a haven of corruption and incompetence.

“Mnangagwa is a crude version of the late Robert Mugabe on corruption, on tribalism,” he said.

“On incompetence, he is worse because he has no finesse. Mugabe had an element of finesse around him, but this one is very crude in terms of naked corruption and naked incompetence.”

Mutambara had no kind words for Mnangagwa who he said was very insecure.

“These guys are insecure, very insecure, very incompetent and they are very quick to use force because they doubt their legitimacy, yet Mugabe had a veneer of legitimacy as the founding father of the nation, who brought independence and carried out the land reform programme,” Mutambara said.

Mutambara hinted that he might return to active politics after the elections.

“If they continue failing, I might have to reconsider my retirement but for now I am teaching. I am a professor and director at the University of the Future of Knowledge, but I keep my options open.”

Expensive ZANU PF Cars For Judges Ahead Of 2023 Elections

Zanu PF candidates got new car, judges US$ 400k @, etc. – vote rigging juggernaut has hit overdrive.

By Wilbert Mukori | Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF colleagues and their cronies are loaded and they are using some of their ill-got loot to bankroll the regime’s many vote rigging schemes!

“The judiciary plays a crucial role in elections in Zimbabwe starting from presiding over the nomination court, managing the whole process through the Electoral Act to resolving post election disputes,” reported Nehanda Radio.

“Against this background, the government has decided to pamper judges with US$400 000 housing loans.

“It’s US$400 000 per judge. Started off as something for the CJ (Chief Justice Luke Malaba) a

indepth...Wilbert Mukori
indepth…Wilbert Mukori

nd the DCJ (Deputy Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza). Now going to other judges,” a source told Nehanda Radio.

This is not something new, last year the regime made similar generous payouts. The Central Intelligence Organisation directors received US$350 000, MPs and senators US$40 000 each and cabinet ministers and their deputies received US$500 000 and US$350 000 respectively.

It is now the norm that all Zanu PF parliamentary candidates receive new cars and this year was no exception. All Zanu PF candidate have received brand new off-road Toyota Hilux GD6s, Ford Rangers, Nissan Navaras or a comparable model. The party will pay their US$1 000 nomination fee plus all their campaign expenses.

No one knows for certain, Zanu PF will never ever an audited account of its election spending, but many believe the regime is spending a staggering US$ 4 billion plus on its many multifaceted vote rigging schemes. The huge government spending on elections takes on its true significance when viewed in the context of Zimbabwe IS a failed state that is failing to provide even the most basic needs to millions of its own people.

In 1980, the country had the potential to become the South Korea of Africa, a democratic and prosperous nation. Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies rigged the first elections; the people were told if the party lost the vote the bush war would continue, and imposed a de facto one-party dictatorship and the rest is history!

The nation had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship with the best chances coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were entrusted the task of implementing the democratic reforms. Mugabe intervened, he bribed the MDC leaders with the trapping of high office and they forgot about the reforms.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life, they will not rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF leaders during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms.

Of course, the Zanu PF leaders knew exactly what they were talking about because Mugabe had bribed them with the same trappings of high office to buy their silence. They did not rock the boat whilst Mugabe rod roughshod over the people denying them the freedoms and rights to create the Zanu PF dictatorship. Even at the peak of the Gukurahundi Massacre in 1983 to 1987, Zanu PF leaders said nothing to stop the madness.

Zanu PF has used the same dirty tactic of bribing people in positions of power and authority to neglect their set task to do the party’s bidding – undermining the rule of law to keep the regime in power at all costs. The judges, MPs, etc. are being bribed to stop regime change.

It is ironic that Zimbabwe’s vast mineral wealth which, per se, is a blessing to the nation is now the source of the wealth use to bribe and bankroll the Zanu PF dictatorship. The blessing, in the wrong hands, is now a curse!

It is very sad that 43 years after independence, 2 500 years after the Greeks proposed democracy in which everyone is compelled by law to treat others as they would like to be treated and no one is above the law; we are still failing to do the most basic thing like holding free elections. We are still stuck with autocracy in which the only law that matters is the primeval survival of the fittest, dominate or be dominated.

Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. It is exasperating that Zanu PF is not only robbing the nation blind but is using the looted wealth to bankroll is corrupt the nation’s institutions and vote rigging juggernaut. After 43 years of rigged elections and tyrannical rule the need to end this madness has never been more urgent than it is now. Zanu PF must be denied political legitimacy. -SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

Yellow Wednesday Takes Epworth By Storm

OPPOSITION Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters in Epworth has launched the Yellow Wednesday to augment the party’s nationwide rural mobilisation exercise code-named mugwazo ahead of the August 23 harmornised elections.

The CCC launched mugwazo to make inroads in areas considered to be Zanu-PF strongholds.

The launch of the Yellow Wednesday in Epworth North constituency was led by CCC aspiring candidate Zivai Mhetu as they distributed campaign material in the informal settlement south-east of Harare.

Other aspiring candidates under Epworth Local Board also participated in the campaign.

Speaking before the door-to-door campaign, Mhetu said the Yellow Wednesday initiative would run until voting day.

“As you are aware we have been conducting these campaigns every Saturday while mobilising support for our presidential candidate and champion-in-chief Nelson Chamisa, we chose Wednesday to remind our supporters of the Wednesday, August 23 voting day,” he said.

“The day has been set aside to increase our visibility in the constituency while complementing the party programme of Mugwazo so that we get maximum votes for our president.

“Even when we are done with the citizens caucuses, our candidates who would have been chosen by the citizens would continue with the programme for an overwhelming win for our presidential candidate.”

CCC has deployed senior party leaders to areas such Murehwa, Mutoko and Uzumba in Mashonaland East province and several other provinces across Zimbabwe to drum up support for the opposition party.

Police Target Drug Peddlers

THE once vibrant Simon Muzenda Street Bus Terminus popularly known as Fourth Street Bus Terminus which used to be a darling of many connecting travellers, especially from Manicaland Province, is now in a sorry state.

In the past, the place was famous with travellers and those selling different wares traversed the bus terminal daily and sometimes late into the night trying to eke a living, but today it’s a different story.

The place is now a haven for dangerous substances and drug peddlers who openly displays illicit drugs in broad daylight as witnessed by this news crew this Wednesday.

The sight of one John Tumbwa (not his real name) a victim of drug and substance abuse who demonstrated how they mix illicit brews and honey to make dangerous stuff, surely calls for concerted efforts in tackling the menace.

“We are no longer safe as travellers because sometimes our drivers will be under the influence of alcohol due to the proximity of where they get these substances.

“We call for the Police to take action so that we save the public. The issue of drug and substance abuse has reached an alarming level in our country so we are no longer safe,” said travellers who spoke to the news crew.

Some of the witnesses who spoke off camera told this news crew that bus termini are now havens of drugs as flashy and posh cars frequent these places under the cover of darkness for purposes of drug peddling.

ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi revealed that more than seven thousand suspects have been arrested since the launch of the operation code-named “No to Dangerous Drugs and Illicit Substances” launched early this year.

“Sadly, these people are selling illicit substances at ranks but I want to assure you that as police we will continue conducting raids in such places. We are also calling for the public to report such cases that we take action as the police,” he said.

The government set up a National Committee on Elimination of Drugs and Substance Abuse, with the structures cascading down to the community level to coordinate the fight against the scourge.- ZBC News

Kasukuwere The Political Saviour ?

ZimEye analysis…

The upcoming 2023 elections in Zimbabwe are shaping up to be a crucial moment in the country’s political landscape. With two prominent figures vying for power, Saviour Kasukuwere and Nelson Chamisa, it is essential to analyze their abilities to garner electoral support and assess their potential to secure victory. While Chamisa enjoys a significant advantage with over 85% of the electorate behind him, Kasukuwere’s base consists primarily of selectors and elite upper-class supporters. This article will delve into their backgrounds, political standing, and the implications they may have on the electoral outcome.

Background:
Nelson Chamisa has emerged as a prominent opposition figure in Zimbabwe. As the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC-A), he has successfully mobilized a substantial following across the country. Chamisa’s popularity largely stems from his charismatic leadership style, youthful energy, and promises of democratic reform and economic revitalization. His strong grassroots support and appeal to the younger generation have bolstered his chances of assuming power.

On the other hand, Saviour Kasukuwere’s entrance into presidential politics carries a sense of uncertainty. Formerly a powerful figure within the ruling ZANU-PF party, Kasukuwere was the major irritant to the rebellious military in 2017, which ultimately led to the removal of Robert Mugabe. Consequently, Kasukuwere is viewed as Mugabe’s potential successor and has occupied influential positions within the ZANU-PF, such as political commissar. However, some argue that Kasukuwere’s involvement in the political arena may be part of a strategy to dilute Nelson Chamisa’s support base, as suggested by media expert Pedzisayi Ruhanya.

Electoral Dynamics:
In terms of electoral power, Nelson Chamisa undeniably holds a significant advantage. With over 85% of the electorate supporting him, his grassroots appeal and extensive mobilization efforts have allowed him to gain widespread popularity. Chamisa’s message of change and reform resonates with many Zimbabweans, particularly the disillusioned youth, who view him as a symbol of hope for a brighter future.

In contrast, Saviour Kasukuwere’s support base primarily consists of selectors and members of the elite upper class. This limited electoral backing poses a challenge for his presidential bid. Zimbabwe has historically operated under a system that privileges the elite and the deep state cluster, disregarding the one man, one vote principle. However, this system, though unpopular, has consistently maintained power regardless of opposition. Kasukuwere’s reliance on this traditional power structure may limit his ability to garner broader popular support.

Implications and Potential Outcomes:
Kasukuwere’s entrance into presidential politics carries inherent risks. While there is a chance that electors may favor him over the relatively junior Chamisa, the odds are stacked against him. It is plausible that Kasukuwere’s candidacy might inadvertently benefit Chamisa by splitting the ruling party’s support base. Similar to the impact Simba Makoni had in the 2008 elections, where he managed to damage then-President Robert Mugabe’s support base, Kasukuwere might find himself unable to gather substantial support beyond a small percentage, thus becoming an asset to Chamisa’s campaign.

Conclusion:
The 2023 elections in Zimbabwe will undoubtedly be a critical juncture for the country’s political trajectory. Nelson Chamisa’s broad support base, charismatic leadership, and promises of democratic reform and economic revitalization have positioned him as a formidable contender. On the other hand, Saviour Kasukuwere’s entrance into presidential politics remains shrouded in uncertainty, as his reliance on the traditional power structure and limited electoral backing pose significant challenges.

TRUE OR NONSENSE?- Magistrate Rules Murdered Livingstone Committed Suicide

The ‘slain schoolboy’ Livingstone Sunhwa committed suicide, according to a Mutasa magistrate who ruled out any foul play in the case.

Livingstone Suhwa

When he vanished from St Mathias High School in Mutasa District on December 16, 2021, Livingstone was a Form Four student there.

Six months later, his remains were located. Due to this, and in light of his sister’s statement to the police, an inquest into his death was mandated at Mutasa Magistrates’ Court by the Prosecutor-General’s Office.

Livingstone’s sister, who was a student at St. Mathias High School, asserted that she witnessed her brother being beaten by police just before he vanished.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. Artwell Sanyatwe, stated in his decision that the evidence available showed suicide by hanging, as described by the police.

“There is no doubt that Livingstone exhibited signs of truancy, which in my view contributed to his demise in this instance. He either could not stand the embarrassing conduct of being arrested at the school in full view of his peers or feared the worst, hence his decision to take his own life,” he stated.

Mr Sanyatwe added: “Detectives who dealt with the matter both testified on the findings at the scene of the recovered human remains which they said were found about a kilometre from St Mathias Tsonzo High School in a secluded and bushy area.

“A piece of cloth was found hanging from a tree, which matched a broken piece of cloth found among human remains or bones. Tests were conducted to establish whether these were Livingstone’s . Their evidence was corroborated by expert tests and analysis, although the cause of death could not be ascertained.

“With that in mind, the only logical conclusion that may be drawn is that the cause of death was due to suicide by hanging.

“The chain of events taken cumulatively from the time of the deceased’s arrest, being taken to the police station, then back to the school and leaving the dormitory on the following morning supports that conclusion or the findings above,” he said.

Mr Sanyatwe said it was important to address Livingstone’s behaviour.

“Most of the witnesses who testified before me appeared to turn a blind eye to Livingstone’s behaviour and character. Evidence which emerged from this inquiry suggests that the deceased lacked parental care.

“He was previously expelled from his former boarding school before being enrolled at St Mathias Tsonzo High School. He was expelled from that school having stolen some food from the school’s dining room.

“He also went missing from that school, only to be found after two days loitering outside the school premises. This was exactly his same conduct at St Matthias Tsonzo High School. There is no doubt that he exhibited signs of truancy, which in my view contributed to his demise,” he said.

Mr Sanyatwe said his assessment of Livingstone’s sister’s statements in court and to the police suggests that there were two versions of the same story.

“The statement to the police alludes to the use of a police button stick in beating Livingstone several times on the back. It also suggests this happened in her full view and in the staffroom.

“On the other hand, her testimony in court suggests otherwise, that she did not perceive or witness them going to the dormitory and could see her brother, Livingstone, being beaten and thereafter could not see him until after night studies when she saw him talking to the school headmaster,” he said.

Mr Sanyatwe said he had a torrid time in directing litigants on the objective or purpose of the inquest as most thought that the purpose was to find the killer.

“The minor sister’s statement was critical as it appears to point to foul play, hence its analysis and assessment was paramount in the determination of this matter.

“The rationale being that all other witnesses’ statements did not point directly to suspected foul play as they were either not present at the school upon the deceased’s arrest, or did not perceive anything which suggest foul play,” he said. – state media

Prophet Caught In Bed With Married Woman

Drama ensued when a Kwekwe self-styled prophet was caught trying to have sex with a married woman during a healing session at his shrine and fled completely nude.

The prophet, who has only been identified as Chikandamina and is currently missing from the Amaveni suburb, is said to have left in his birthday suit after being exposed by the woman’s husband.

Emmanuel Mahoko, a police spokesperson for the Midlands province, verified the event.

He claimed, “We confirm that we are hunting down a prophet who attempted to rape his client as he told her that he needed to sleep with her so as to cast out the evil spirit that was tormenting her,” he said.

According to legend, the woman went to a prophet named Chikandamina at his shrine in the Amaveni neighbourhood because she was so anxious to be healed.

He informed her that having intercourse with her was a requirement of the treatment session.

The woman informed her husband via WhatsApp that Chikandamina was enticing her into having sex with him while he was still trying to get her to do so. The report claimed that when the husband arrived on the scene, he discovered his wife lying on the ground as the prophet was changing into his pants and getting ready to attack her.

Chikandamina ran naked, holding his underwear and pair of pants, when he saw the woman’s husband.

The couple informed the police about the event.- state media

President Chamisa Speaks On Polls

Tinashe Sambiri

August 23 is a crucial day for all citizens, CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said.

The vibrant CCC leader has vowed to bury Zanu PF in the coming polls.

In a statement on Twitter, President Chamisa declared:

WEDNESDAY 23 AUGUST 2023 is a Big Day for Zimbabwe #Thistime It’s time!!

ZIMBABWE IS AN AWAKENING GIANT…With new leaders, Zimbabwe shall be well known as a booming economy and a prosperous nation.

Our blessed nation shall be a template for good governance and exemplary excellent leadership availing opportunities.

Attempt to Reverse a Mugabe Land Deal Flops

A group attempting to overturn a Mugabe-era 2007 land agreement between Harare City Council and Augur Investments has failed to obtain permission to appeal a High Court decision dismissing it for lack of legal standing for a second time.
After losing at the High Court on the grounds that their application was submitted far past the legally required period, the Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation (ZHPF), a person named Knowledge Tinashe Kwambana, and former Harare City councillor Warship Dumba made the effort to appeal.

In 2007, Mr. Ken Sharpe’s Augur and Harare entered into a land and development joint venture in which Augur received 70% of the shares and the council received 30% of the company, Sunshine Development (Pvt) Ltd.

However, ZHPF and other parties have filed a lawsuit seeking that the transaction be reversed against the Harare City Council, Augur Investments, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Mr. Ken Sharpe, and others.

They claimed that the council gave Augur more than 239 hectares of land without authorization or compensation.

However, before the court considered the merits of the civil complaint, the lower court made decisions on three preliminary issues brought up by the Harare City Council, the investor, and the other parties sued.

The applicants’ allegations started in 2007, therefore three years had passed by the time the lawsuit was instituted in 2021, the council and Augur argued, saying that the application was lodged well after the deadline for a civil case.

The council and Augur further stated that the federation lacked the legal capacity to suit, that their claim presented important factual issues that, under the law, could not be settled by written documents, and that as a result, they had selected the incorrect civil method.

All three of the first issues were affirmed by Justice David Mangota in the lower court.

Regarding the first issue—the statute of limitations for a civil action—it is undeniable that the joint venture agreements, which were executed in June and September 2007, are public records.

ZHPF failed to follow standing orders once again, and as a result, they must now pay Augur’s costs at the Supreme Court on Wednesday before Justice Nicholas Mathonsi, who was present in his chambers.

In his ruling, Justice Mangota stated that ZHPF could not imply that it was oblivious of the agreements that the parties made in 2007 up until 2021 when it filed its case. ZHPF claimed to have a genuine interest in the concerns of good governance in Harare.

Clr. Dumba, in his capacity as chairperson of the special investigations committee that the City of Harare established between 2008 and 2013, could not have been unaware of this land deal between 2010, the deadline year, and 2021, the year they filed their lawsuit. The committee’s mandate was to look into the City of Harare’s land sales, leases, and exchanges from 2004 to 2009.

The federation and the two people indicated in their papers that they were aware of the transactions as early as 2010, when the matter was brought up in the land audit that the City of Harare performed. They did not deny this in their affidavits.

They were unable to provide an explanation for why they did not file a lawsuit right away after becoming aware of the parties’ identities and the relevant facts, which was three years ago.

The party making the argument is automatically entitled to have the plea upheld if the prerequisites for a plea of prescription have been proved by that party. However, the court kept considering the other two points.

According to the court, neither the ZHPF nor its co-applicants had a direct or significant stake in the agreement between the council and Augur.

They stated that they were suing on behalf of its unidentified members who would later demand land from the City of Harare after the land was returned to it, but the court concluded that their assertion was improbable and unpersuasive.

In addition, the court agreed with the council and Augur that ZHPF should have anticipated that its claims of fraud, corruption, and collusion would be severely contested before bringing the application rather than advancing through a lawsuit.

The kind of application ZHPF submitted necessitates the court hearing arguments and reviewing the files in private.

Harare was represented during the signing of the joint venture by Sekesayi Makwavarara, then-chairperson of the Commission administering Harare, and the then-town clerk Tendai Mahachi.

According to the contract, the joint venture would, among other things, construct middle-class homes, a hotel on a golf course, and a commercial hub in Hopley and Mukuvisi.

At Warren Hills Golf Course, Augur Investments is prepared to construct a cutting-edge tourism and hospitality complex.

This came when Warren Hills Golf and Residential Estate opened its doors in May 2022. Zimbabwe has never received services of this calibre before from the resort.

The impressive golf course will also include a clubhouse, upscale residences, and vacation homes linked to it.

Peter Matkovich, a well-known designer and former golfer, has recently been hired to create the multimillion-dollar infrastructure.

While Mr. Charles Kwaramba represented the City of Harare and Advocate Eric Matinenga, instructed by Mr. Tendai Biti, represented the ZPHF and others, Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara, instructed by Scanlen & Holderness, represented Augur Investments.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Mafia Caught On Camera Smuggling Lithium In Large Lorries Guruve To Mozambique

Shocking Video Reveals Zimbabwean Officials Violating Lithium Export Ban

In a shocking turn of events, South African citizens are witnessing the unfolding of a scandal involving Zimbabwean government officials. The officials, who previously imposed a ban on the export of lithium ore, have been caught on camera driving large lorries filled with the same valuable resource across Zimbabwe towards Mozambique. This flagrant violation of their nation’s own laws has left the people of South Africa in a state of disbelief and concern. This article aims to shed light on this alarming incident and its potential consequences.

The Lithium Boom and Zimbabwe’s Export Ban:

In recent years, lithium has emerged as a crucial component in the manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems. This has resulted in a global demand surge for the mineral, with Zimbabwe being one of the countries blessed with abundant lithium reserves. In response to this growing demand, the Zimbabwean government implemented an export ban on lithium ore to ensure the resource is processed locally and maximize its economic benefits for the country.

The Shocking Revelation:

However, live footage captured by ZimEye in Goromonzi on Wednesday revealed the astonishing hypocrisy of Zimbabwean government officials. The video footage clearly shows large lorries loaded with lithium ore being transported across Zimbabwe towards Mozambique, indicating a blatant violation of the nation’s own laws. The revelation has left South African citizens astounded, as they witness a government flouting its own regulations for personal gain.

Consequences of the Violation:

The implications of this violation are far-reaching and alarming. Firstly, it undermines the credibility and trustworthiness of the Zimbabwean government, both domestically and internationally. It casts doubts on their commitment to upholding the rule of law and erodes confidence in their ability to regulate the mining sector responsibly.

Furthermore, the illicit export of lithium ore directly affects the economic interests of South Africa and other neighboring countries. South Africa, in particular, heavily relies on the import of raw materials such as lithium to fuel its own burgeoning battery manufacturing industry. The smuggling of lithium out of Zimbabwe could disrupt supply chains, resulting in increased costs and potential job losses in the South African renewable energy sector.

Calls for Investigation and Accountability:

Given the gravity of the situation, concerned citizens, activists, and international organizations are urging the Zimbabwean government to launch a thorough investigation into the alleged smuggling of lithium ore. They demand that those responsible for this breach of law be held accountable and face appropriate legal consequences. The public is also calling for transparency and increased oversight in the mining sector to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Resource Management:

This incident highlights the need for increased regional cooperation and coordination in the management of natural resources. Neighboring countries, including South Africa, should engage in dialogue with Zimbabwe to ensure the responsible and sustainable extraction, processing, and trading of lithium and other valuable minerals. This cooperation will foster economic growth, protect the environment, and prevent illicit activities that undermine the collective interests of the region.

The shocking video revealing Zimbabwean government officials violating their own export ban on lithium ore has sent shockwaves through South Africa and beyond. This scandal not only undermines the credibility of the Zimbabwean government but also poses economic risks to neighboring countries. It is imperative that a thorough investigation is conducted and those responsible are held accountable to restore trust and uphold the rule of law. Regional cooperation and sustainable resource management are vital for ensuring the responsible exploitation of Africa’s valuable mineral resources.

ZEC Creates 3 New Polling Stations, Mixing Up Rural and Urbans

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Crashes 3 New Sub-Stations, Mixing Up Rural and Urban Polling Stations

By Farai D Hove | In a shocking turn of events, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has inadvertently created three new sub-stations, resulting in a mix-up between rural and urban polling stations. The incident has sparked concerns about electoral integrity and constitutional violations, particularly in the case of Mutare Rural Ward 33 for Mutare Municipality elections.

Shifts in polling stations- Pachedu

The newly established sub-stations, located at Mukwena BC in Mutare Rural Ward 33, have raised eyebrows due to their dubious nature. Critics argue that dividing Ward 33 between two local authorities is not only questionable but also a clear violation of §161(5a) of the Constitution, the Oavhedu Group reveals.

ZEC, which is responsible for organizing and overseeing elections in Zimbabwe, is expected to ensure fairness, transparency, and adherence to the country’s legal framework. However, this recent mishap has cast doubt on the commission’s ability to carry out its duties effectively.

The mixing up of rural and urban polling stations has the potential to create confusion among voters, leading to disenfranchisement and compromising the integrity of the electoral process. Such errors can undermine public trust in the electoral system and raise concerns about manipulation or bias.

Critics argue that the division of Ward 33 between two local authorities violates §161(5a) of the Constitution, which explicitly prohibits such actions. This constitutional provision aims to safeguard the representation and rights of voters, ensuring that electoral boundaries align with legal requirements and do not favor any specific group or party.

The incident has sparked calls for immediate action from political parties, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens. Demands for ZEC to rectify the situation promptly and ensure that the upcoming Mutare Municipality elections are conducted in accordance with the law have grown louder.

Observers emphasize the need for an independent investigation into the matter to determine whether this mix-up was the result of negligence, a deliberate act, or a systemic flaw within the electoral commission. Transparency and accountability are vital in restoring public confidence in Zimbabwe’s electoral processes.

As the nation awaits ZEC’s response to these allegations, it is crucial for the commission to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and take appropriate steps to rectify the errors. Ensuring that the upcoming elections are conducted fairly and in compliance with the Constitution should be a priority for all stakeholders involved.

Zimbabwe’s democratic progress depends on the integrity and credibility of its electoral system. Addressing the concerns surrounding the mixing up of rural and urban polling stations in Mutare Rural Ward 33 will be a crucial step toward upholding the principles of free and fair elections in the country.

Qoki Frauds Part 6

By Nozolo Ndazi | Fraud is a serious issue that can have a significant impact on investors. Unfortunately, some investors may not be aware of ongoing court cases or legal disputes that could affect their investments. This is the case with the ongoing court case HC438/22 at the Bulawayo High Court over a land dispute for Lot 2A Nondweni a Qoki Zindlovukazi Investments project, which was gazetted in 2006 by the Zimbabwean government under the land acquisition act.

The development means the land can not be sold or traded in any way, a horror which is even worse seeing the many statements that reveal that no farmlands are supposed to be bought or sold in the first place. Anyone who sells agricultural land is a fraudster, President Mnangagwa said in Washington last year. He added to many statements uttered by government ministers that explain further that agricultural land is sacrosanct.

Investors who purchased land at Nondweni 2 have not been informed about this ongoing court case, which could put their investment at risk. It is important for investors to do their due diligence and research any legal disputes or court cases that may affect their investments. This can help investors make informed decisions and avoid potential fraud or legal issues.

Investors should also work with reputable and trustworthy investment firms or brokers who have a track record of providing honest and transparent information to their clients. This can help investors avoid fraudulent investment opportunities and protect their investments.

In conclusion, investors should always be vigilant and do their research before making any investment decisions. They should work with reputable investment firms and brokers who provide honest and transparent information to their clients. By taking these steps, investors can protect themselves from fraud and make informed investment decisions.

Chamisa Aides Jailed

By-A Marondera magistrate has jailed two Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters accused of assaulting a Zanu PF supporter.

The CCC supporters Taurai Befura (47) and Dennis Chiradza (63) were each sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with six months suspended, with no option of a fine for assaulting a Zanu PF supporter in Mahusekwa on May 14, 2022.

No medical affidavit was produced in court as evidence of the assault.
And the Zanu PF T-shirt that was said to have been torn during the clashes was not presented as an exhibit.
The two State witnesses also gave contradictory statements in court, with the complainant admitting that he was not injured.
But when passing the sentence, Marondera magistrate Esther Mabika said the duo was being charged with a violent offence that the court frowned upon, especially in the prevailing political climate.
She justified the sentence saying it would be a deterrent measure in line with the new dispensation and head of State’s mantra that political violence should not be tolerated.
Mabika said given that the country has a history of political violence and the fact that the case had some political elements, the court intended to send a message to the accused persons and the rest of the community that political violence is not tolerated.
They were represented by Lynnet Phiri, of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.
According to the State, Befura and Chiradza assaulted Stephen Musengeyi at Chiriseri business centre with open hands and fists.
The court heard that on May 14, 2022, Musengeyi proceeded to Mudzimuirema School to watch a soccer match organised by Zanu PF.
In the company of Rodwell Makoni, Musengeyi went to Chiriseri business centre to buy food where they met Befura and Chiradza wearing CCC T-shirts.
Musengeyi, who identified himself as a Zanu PF supporter, stated that the two opposition supporters were seen wearing CCC regalia at the local shops.
He told the court that he approached one of the CCC supporters and told them to leave the place.
He told the court that there was a Zanu PF meeting at the shops that is why he wanted the pair to leave.
The other State witness, Makoni stated that there was no meeting at the shops but they were there to get some drinks and relax with friends.
Musengeyi told the court that Befura and Chiradza brought 10 or more unidentified persons and assaulted him. No medical affidavit was produced in court and Musengeyi stated that he did not suffer any serious injuries. Makoni also said there were no visible injuries on Musengeyi. Newsday

Mwonzora Drops Mnangagwa Election

By-The leader of the MDC, Daglous Mwonzora, has dumped the challenge on the proclamation of elections dates he initiated with the courts and set this Thursday as the deadline for members aspiring to represent the party in the 2023 elections to submit their applications.

MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora told the CITE that the party would host one-day primaries across the country in constituencies with two candidates for one seat.
He said the party’s 50 sitting Members of Parliament were unchallenged and primaries will be conducted if there are at least two candidates for a constituency in the remaining 160 constituencies. Said Mwonzora:
Preparations for the elections are going on very well and as the MDC, we are finalising our candidate selection process and the deadline for all provinces to submit the names is Thursday.
If there is more than one candidate, we do a two-stage process where the first process is for the candidates to persuade each other on who must stand down and who must contest. This is possible and sometimes, this strategy works.
When the candidates don’t agree with each other, then we will do primary elections. Our primaries will be done in one day in the areas supposed to have those.
MPs in about 50 constituencies were not opposed internally. These candidates will be vetted by security and if by Thursday, the vetting has taken place, the candidates will straightaway submit their papers to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).
Mwonzora said the primaries will be confined to only party structures who have to vote for their preferred candidate when there is no consensus in the 60 remaining constituencies. He said:
We will give these candidates the weekend to make their consensus. If they don’t come up with one candidate, then we will fix a day countrywide.
The MDC primaries are not going to involve everyone but will be confined to the MDC structures at each level to vote.
So a smaller group of people will be voting and it is our hope that we have candidates in all the 210 constituencies.
Mwonzora also said MDC was also finalising its election manifesto which would be launched at the end of June.
The MCD failed to win a single parliamentary or local government seat in by-elections held since the last general elections in 2018.

Former Parly Speaker Predicts Chamisa, Mnangagwa Presidential Election Deadlock

By- Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Lovemore Moyo, has warned that the 2023 harmonised elections will produce a disputed outcome as happened in the 2018 elections.
In a statement released on Monday, ahead of the 23 August general elections, Moyo said the international community is tired of Zimbabwe’s cycle of disputed elections. He said:
Once more, the repeat of the 2018 plebiscite, which was disputed, may be in the making and inevitable.
Zimbabweans want an opportunity to make their choices and vote for their preferred party or candidates without fear, intimidation, harassment and election manipulation.
Further, it must be known that the Southern African Development Community, African Union, European Union, America and South Africa, in particular, are exhausted by our recurrent electoral mismanagement, disputes and violence.
Moyo implored the Government and its agencies to ensure a level electoral playing field to prevent a disputed electoral outcome. He said:
In that regard, we call upon the government, law enforcement agencies, political parties, civic society, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and election observer missions to adhere to election best practices and standards in the execution of their respective duties conscientiously and without fear or favour.
In the same vein, we call upon the police, military, and other law enforcement agencies to remain true and loyal to their oath of service during election time and beyond.
In 2018, the main opposition presidential contender Nelson Chamisa unsuccessfully challenged the results at the Constitutional Court alleging rigging by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in favour of the ruling ZANU PF party.
ZEC declared that the ZANU PF presidential candidate, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, had won the poll, a result which was upheld by the Constitutional Court.
Moreover, security officers opened fire on protestors in Harare on 01 August, killing seven people and injuring several others.

Zim CSOs Take Stand Against ‘Judicial Capture’

By A Correspondent| A group of eighteen local and regional civil society organizations (CSOs) have taken a stand against what they perceive as “judicial capture” and the perversion of justice in Zimbabwe.

In a petition addressed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, these CSOs accuse the country’s Judiciary of manipulating the legal system to target government critics, pointing to the “persecution” of opposition politicians and pro-democracy activists as evidence.

The CSOs express deep concerns about the increasing trend of judicial persecution and the abuse of the legal system by Zimbabwean authorities.

They argue that these actions are aimed at stifling civic engagement and targeting human rights defenders and pro-democracy activists.

The statement, dated June 1, was also copied to Chief Justice Luke Malaba, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, and Acting Prosecutor-General Nelson Mutsonziwa.

One prominent case highlighted by the CSOs is that of Job Sikhala, a legislator from Zengeza West, who has been in pre-trial detention since June of the previous year.

Sikhala is charged with incitement to violence at the funeral of opposition activist Moreblessing Ali. The CSOs find it alarming that Sikhala has been denied bail repeatedly, claiming that this highlights the weaponization of the law against government critics.

They further criticize the courts for deviating from the provisions of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Amendment Act, particularly in relation to bail.

They argue that there is no legal justification for denying Sikhala bail on multiple occasions and continuing to detain him for over ten months.

The CSOs point out the inconsistency in granting bail to Sikhala’s co-accused while he remains in custody, raising suspicions of targeted persecution against the opposition MP.

According to the CSOs, the Sikhala case exposes the absence of the rule of law in Zimbabwe. They demand that any individuals within the Executive or Judiciary, including those affiliated with the ruling ZANU-PF party or any other organization unduly influencing the courts, should be identified, apprehended, prosecuted, and convicted for their actions that violate the principle of separation of powers.

The CSOs emphasize that Sikhala deserves equal access to judicial remedies without discrimination based on political grounds, as guaranteed by national and international law.

Numerous CSOs have joined forces in this petition, including residents’ associations, the Anti-Corruption Trust of Southern Africa (ACT-SA), Zimbabwe Organization for Youth in Politics (ZOYP), Voice of Justice, NamRights Inc (Namibia), Zimbabwe Exiles Forum (South Africa), and international organizations such as the Restoration of Human Rights (United Kingdom), Zimbabwe Diaspora for Democracy (United States), Political Prisoners in Africa (SADC), DITSHWANELO — The Botswana Centre for Human Rights (Botswana), Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network (Mozambique), Centre for Democracy and Development (Mozambique), Civic Space Network (SADC), and Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (SADC).

Efforts to obtain comments from Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, her deputy Kindness Paradza, and Information Ministry Permanent Secretary Ndavaningi Mangwana were unsuccessful at the time.

‘Patriot Bill’: Ball Now In Mnangagwa’s Court

THE Zanu PF-dominated Senate yesterday passed the controversial Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Amendment Bill, also known as the Criminal Code, paving way for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to sign it into law anytime from now.

The proposed law, also known as Patriot Bill, sailed through the National Assembly last week despite objections from the opposition benches.

“The Senate has passed the Patriotic Bill. The Bill will be sent for Presidential assent to become a law,” legislative watchdog Open Paly tweeted last night.

The Bill has provisions that seek to criminalise citizens found guilty of “wilfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe”.

The Bill, which seeks to amend the Criminal Code, penalises Zimbabweans charged with campaigning against or “hurting the interests” of the country including having any correspondence with foreign governments.

Other penalties include revocation of citizenship, prohibition from being registered as a voter or voting in an election for a period of at least five years.

Rights lawyers said some of the penalties were manifestly unconstitutional and are meant to silence government critics and close civic space ahead of general elections set for August 23 this year.

Following passage of the Bill in the Lower House last week, the Zimbabwe Lawyers of Human Rights said the penalties were an assault on democratic and civic spaces.

“The penalty of prohibition of registration as a voter or voting at an election violates political rights as provided for in section 67 of the Constitution as read with paragraph 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution,” the ZLHR said.

“The proposed provisions will result in the closure of the civic space and violate human rights at a time when Zimbabwe has committed to implement critical reforms under the Structured Dialogue on Arrears Clearance and Debt Resolution process.”

In Parliament last week, opposition CCC legislators took turns to criticise the Bill — which was initially tabled in August last year  after being introduced by former Zanu PF secretary for youth affairs Pupurai Togarepi, who is now the party’s chief whip.

The Patriot Bill is among several contentious pieces of legislation introduced by Mnangagwa to entrench his power since coming into office via a military in 2017. Some of the laws include the Cyber Security Act, Constitutional Amendments 1 and 2, and the Private Voluntary Organisations Amendment Bill that has been awaiting his signature since February.

I Was Drunk, Lone Protestor Pleads Guilty

A Chinhoyi man appeared before Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero yesterday on charges of disorderly conduct after he staged a lone protest in the capital.

Itayi Uthant Makombe (51) pleaded guilty to the charge saying he was drunk on the day.

Allegations are that on June 5, 2023, at around 0600hrs, Makombe blocked traffic  at the intersection of Josiah Magama Tongogara Avenue and Sam Nujoma Street, Harare, with his Landrover Defender during the protest.

He climbed on top of his vehicle shouting: “Ambuya Nehanda vamuka, ropa zhinji rakadeuka uye richiri kungodeuka” meaning, “Nehanda has resurrected, a lot of blood spilled and is still spilling.”

Constables from ZRP Harare CBD Traffic ordered him to remove his vehicle, and he refused before he was forcibly taken away.

His lawyer Gift Mtisi said Makombe was drunk.

“When he was arrested he was drunk. When he became sober, he showed remorse and told the officers that he was drunk at the time,” Mtisi said.

Kandiyero said Makombe must be taken for mental examination.

“It is not admissible that the accused was under the influence of alcohol,” the magistrate said.

“The behaviour and words that were uttered by the accused person makes the court wonder if he was in his right mind at the time. If his behaviour is repeated again, he will end up on the court’s corridors again.”

He will appear in court on June 2 after mental examination.

Major Stumbling Block In Kasukuwere’s Presidential Bid

Exiled former Cabinet minister Saviour Kasukuwere has filed an application seeking the cancellation of his warrant of arrest to allow him to contest in the August 23 presidential race.

The warrant of arrest was issued on January 17, 2019.

In early 2020, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) sought extradition of Kasukuwere from South Africa but failed after Interpol claimed the issue was political.

Kasukuwere has shown his intention to challenge for the presidency.

The warrant was issued by retired Harare magistrate Hosea Mujaya after the former Cabinet minister in the late President Robert Mugabe’s administration failed to appear for trial on four counts of criminal abuse of office.

In his application, which was filed on June 2, Kasukuwere, through his lawyers, Mhishi and Nkomo Legal Practitioners, said the warrant was issued in error.

According to his lawyers, Kasukuwere appeared before Mujaya on November 29, 2018 to answer to four counts of criminal abuse of duty.

The former Cabinet minister then took exception to the charges saying they lacked essential elements of the offence of criminal abuse of duty.

Mujaya, however, dismissed the application and Kasukuwere approached the High Court for review of Mujaya’s decision.

The High Court ruled in his favour.

After upholding Kasukuwere’s application for exception, the High Court then ordered that the warrant of arrest issued by the lower court be cancelled by Mujaya who issued it.

“It is accordingly submitted that the applicant (Kasukuwere) has managed to show on a balance of probabilities that the warrant of arrest should be cancelled. It serves no purpose for it to remain in force,” Kasukuwere’s lawyers submitted.

“It was rendered void by the High Court in a judgment.”

Kasukuwere was one of the leading persons in a faction known as Generation40 (G40) during Mugabe’s era.

Corporate 24 CEO Faces Fraud Charges

By A Correspondent| In a surprising turn of events, Mike Joka, the founder and CEO of Corporate 24 Medical Centre, alongside company representative Naison Muza, appeared before a Harare magistrate yesterday on charges of defrauding Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) of a staggering ZW$108,860 in 2021.

During the court hearing before Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, the accused were granted bail of ZW$500,000, a decision that has raised eyebrows in the community.

Their legal counsel, Levious Mundieta, is now tasked with mounting a defense against the allegations.

The case unfolded when PSMAS engaged the services of Forensic RBG Auditors to conduct an extensive audit spanning from 2015 to 2022. Shockingly, the auditors uncovered multiple instances of fraudulent activities.

According to the court documents, Corporate 24 Medical Centre allegedly devised a cunning plan to deceive PSMAS through the submission of fraudulent claims.

The accused allegedly provided non-emergency medical services to various PSMAS members but invoiced for unnecessary procedures using different codes, which were designed to exempt patients from any charges.

Trusting the false representation, PSMAS reportedly made payments to Joka’s bank accounts, resulting in substantial losses for the health insurer.

The state contends that PSMAS suffered a direct financial prejudice of ZW$108,860.91, and no funds have been recovered to date.

Although the court papers did not specify the value of the alleged fraud in US dollars at the time, a brief internet search indicates that during the relevant period, the US dollar was valued at just over ZWL$6.

This calculation suggests that the amount involved in the scam surpassed US$18,000.

This scandalous case has sent shockwaves through the medical community, as patients and medical aid members express concerns over the integrity of the healthcare system.

As the trial proceeds, all eyes will be on the courtroom, awaiting justice to be served and the recovery of the ill-gotten funds.

Traditional Healers Foiled in Bizarre Snake-Planting Scheme, Exposing their Deception

By A Correspondent| In a peculiar turn of events, two self-proclaimed traditional healers, commonly referred to as Tsikamutandas, found their attempt to deceive a family in Kwekwe take an unexpected and disastrous twist. Their fraudulent activities were unveiled when they were caught red-handed attempting to secretly place a live python behind a wardrobe in the family’s home.

To make matters worse for the charlatans, one of them regurgitated beer during a supposed cleansing ceremony, intensifying the suspicions of the astute family who doubted the authenticity of these traditional healers.

The family wasted no time in reporting the incident to the authorities, leading to the subsequent arrest of the two impostors. Tinashe Mataga, aged 38, and Freedom Phiri, aged 30, were taken into custody and later revealed that Elias Magumise, aged 32, had provided them with the reptile used in their deceitful act.

Appearing before Kwekwe Magistrate Ms Mildred Matuvi, the trio faced charges under the Parks and Wildlife Act Chapter 20:14, specifically for the unlawful removal of animal parts from any land. They were each granted bail of $150,000.

According to official documents, on June 1, 2023, Nakai Gono, a 72-year-old resident of Mbizo 18 in Mbizo, fell ill, prompting her daughter, Stella Ziya, aged 45, to seek the assistance of traditional healers who claimed expertise in purifying homes.

The court proceedings revealed that Mataga and Phiri approached Magumise, who supplied them with a live python. The plan was to surreptitiously place the snake at the Gono residence, creating an illusion of cleansing having taken place.

During the ritual, Ziya was instructed to retrieve water and salt, which would supposedly be used to dispel the “object” responsible for her mother’s illness. Upon her return, Ziya noticed the two fraudsters retrieving a python from their bag and discreetly planting it behind the wardrobe.

The suspicions surrounding the traditional healers heightened when one of them unexpectedly vomited beer during the prayer session, leaving Ziya even more skeptical of their actions. Promptly recognizing the gravity of the situation, she promptly reported the incident to the police, resulting in the arrest of Mataga and Phiri, who subsequently implicated Magumise.

The approximately three-meter-long python has been handed over to the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management (Zimparks) for appropriate handling.

Representing the state in the case was Ms Ethel Bhumure.

Wholesale Forex Auction Equated To ‘A Person Buying Toothpaste After Losing Teeth’

By A Correspondent | Renowned economic analyst Professor Gift Mugano has strongly criticized monetary authorities for their recent decision to introduce a wholesale foreign exchange auction.

According to Mugano, this action should have been taken back in 2019 when the government first implemented the interbank rate.

Expressing his views on Twitter, Professor Mugano compared the current move by the monetary authorities to a person persistently buying toothpaste despite having lost all their teeth.

“We are now implementing the right policies too late. This should have been done on 20th February 2019 when the interbank rate was introduced. It’s too late now! At this pace, wages, pensions, the national budget, and capital will be decimated. Prices will skyrocket. The situation is deteriorating!”

Mugano emphasized the urgent need for the Treasury to revisit the national budget, promptly increase salaries and pensions, and review the budget allocated to contractors.

He argued that these revisions would inject more liquidity into the market, exacerbating the existing problems.

When someone suggested that it’s never too late to do the right thing, Mugano remained skeptical about the effectiveness of the latest measure and responded by questioning, “So you’re suggesting that even if you’ve lost all your teeth, you should still go ahead and buy toothpaste?”

Chiweshe Suspected Murderer Continues Reign of Terror, Leaving Gruesome Trail of Violence

By A Correspondent| In a shocking display of unrepentant violence, a Chiweshe resident suspected of murder and currently out on bail has once again found herself embroiled in a horrific incident. This time, the accused allegedly bit off her colleague’s tongue during a heated altercation, adding to her already notorious reputation.

The disturbing incident unfolded at a local night club in Chiweshe on April 27, where Grace Trinta (34) and her co-accused, both recognized as commercial sex workers, confronted their fellow colleague, Perpetual Lumber (26). Gripped by a deep-seated grudge, the duo mercilessly assaulted Lumber, with Trinta’s fury culminating in a bite to her cheek and a horrifying act of biting off her tongue.

Yesterday, the matter came to light during Trinta’s appearance before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware at the Concession Magistrates Court. Despite the overwhelming evidence against her, Trinta pleaded not guilty to the assault charge. However, the gravity of her actions prompted the magistrate to remand her in custody until June 21.

This latest incident serves as a chilling reminder of the accused’s reign of terror, as she continues to engage in acts of extreme violence. With a murder case still pending against her, the community is left in shock and disbelief, questioning the effectiveness of the justice system in dealing with such individuals.

The assailant’s ability to evade capture, aided by the darkness that cloaked her escape after the assault, raises concerns about the safety and security of the local community. Authorities must act swiftly to ensure the arrest of the co-accused who remains at large, preventing any further acts of violence.

South African Government Extends Zimbabwe Exemption Permits: An Analysis

By Farai D Hove | In a significant move, the South African government has announced the extension of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) for over 180,000 Zimbabwean nationals, ZimEye reveals.

The extension grants them an additional six months, until December 31, 2023, to transition to regular visas. This decision comes as a relief to many Zimbabweans who were uncertain about their legal status in South Africa after the initial expiry date at the end of this month.

Background

The Zimbabwe Exemption Permits were initially introduced in 2010 as a temporary measure to address the socio-economic and political challenges faced by Zimbabwe at the time. The permits allowed Zimbabwean nationals to live and work in South Africa legally. Since then, these permits have been periodically extended to ensure the continued stay of affected individuals.

Extension Rationale

The South African government’s decision to extend the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits for an additional six months can be seen as a proactive response to address the concerns of the affected individuals. This extension provides them with a transitional period to regularize their immigration status and switch to regular visas.

Benefits for Zimbabweans

The extension of the ZEP offers numerous benefits to the Zimbabwean community living in South Africa. Firstly, it provides them with an extended period to complete the necessary paperwork and fulfill the requirements for regular visas. This process can often be complex and time-consuming, and the additional six months allows for a smoother transition.

Secondly, the extension eliminates the immediate anxiety and uncertainty faced by Zimbabweans regarding their legal status in South Africa. By extending the permits, the government has provided a temporary reprieve and a sense of security to those affected, allowing them to plan for their future without the constant fear of deportation.

Thirdly, this decision recognizes the significant contributions made by Zimbabwean nationals to the South African economy and society. Many Zimbabweans in South Africa are employed in various sectors, such as mining, agriculture, healthcare, and hospitality, and play a vital role in filling gaps in the local labor market. By extending the permits, the government acknowledges their valuable contributions and seeks to facilitate their continued integration into the South African workforce.

Challenges and Considerations

While the extension of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits brings relief to many, it is important to address potential challenges and considerations that may arise during this transitional period. The government must ensure effective communication to ensure that all affected individuals are aware of the extension and the necessary steps they need to take to regularize their status. This includes providing clear guidelines, accessible information, and support services to assist Zimbabweans through the visa application process.

Another challenge that may emerge is the potential backlog and administrative burden faced by South African immigration authorities. With over 180,000 individuals potentially applying for regular visas, there is a need for efficient processing systems and increased capacity to handle the influx of applications within the extended timeframe.

The South African government’s decision to extend the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits for an additional six months to December 31, 2023, is a positive development for the affected Zimbabwean community. It provides them with a more extended period to switch to regular visas, alleviating their immediate concerns regarding legal status and offering a pathway to secure their futures in South Africa. As this transitional period unfolds, it is crucial for the government to provide adequate support, guidance, and efficient processing systems to facilitate a smooth transition for the affected individuals.

Catching Emmerson Mnangagwa Walking Alone In First Street| VIDEO

By Dorrothy Moyo | Imagine catching Emmerson Mnangagwa walking alone in First Street, Harare in the morning.

Leadership styles vary across the globe, reflecting the unique cultural, historical, and political contexts of each region. In this article, we will examine the contrasting leadership styles of African nations and Western countries, with a specific focus on the qualities of humility and simplicity in how heads of state relate to ordinary people. Drawing a comparison to Salma’s encounter with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, who walked alone among the public, we will explore whether leaders like Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe can emulate the accessibility demonstrated by Ian Smith in Harare’s First Street.

  1. Cultural Context and Leadership:
African nations possess rich cultural traditions that often emphasize communal values and a close connection between leaders and the people. This cultural backdrop can influence leadership styles, promoting humility and simplicity as desirable traits in heads of state. Conversely, Western countries may prioritize other leadership qualities such as assertiveness and strategic decision-making.
  2. Humility in African Leadership:
Humility in African leadership often manifests in leaders’ willingness to listen to and engage with ordinary citizens. Many African leaders recognize the importance of remaining grounded and accessible, enabling them to gain insight into the needs and aspirations of their constituents. This humility is often rooted in cultural values of respect and collective welfare.
  3. Simplicity in African Leadership:
Simplicity in African leadership reflects a desire to be relatable to the ordinary people. It involves leaders engaging in activities that are accessible and familiar to the general population, like walking or cycling among them. By doing so, leaders can bridge the gap between themselves and the citizens, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
  4. Contrasting Western Leadership Styles:
In the Western context, leadership styles often prioritize professionalism, strategic thinking, and maintaining a certain level of distance from the general public. While accessibility is valued, Western leaders may choose alternative methods, such as town hall meetings or public speeches, to engage with citizens.
  5. Salma’s Encounter vs. African Leaders:
The example of Salma meeting the Prime Minister of the Netherlands walking alone in the street highlights the accessibility and simplicity of Western leaders. While this encounter may appear ordinary in the Western context, it can be seen as a departure from traditional African leadership practices, where leaders may not engage in such spontaneous and direct interactions with the public.
  6. Emmerson Mnangagwa and Ian Smith:
Emmerson Mnangagwa, the current President of Zimbabwe, operates in a different political landscape compared to his predecessor, Ian Smith. While Smith was known for his humble and simple leadership style, walking or cycling among the people, Mnangagwa’s approach may differ due to a variety of factors, including security concerns, political dynamics, and evolving societal expectations.
  7. Evolving Leadership Styles:
Leadership styles are not fixed but adapt to changing circumstances and societal expectations. African leaders like Mnangagwa may adopt different approaches to leadership, incorporating elements of humility and simplicity while also addressing the challenges and realities of their time.

Leadership styles in African nations and the West exhibit significant differences, reflecting the unique cultural, historical, and political contexts of each region. While African leaders often emphasize humility and simplicity to foster a close connection with ordinary people, Western leaders may adopt different approaches that balance accessibility with other leadership qualities. As the world evolves, leaders like Emmerson Mnangagwa have the opportunity to adapt their leadership styles to incorporate elements of humility and simplicity while addressing the complex challenges of their nations.

Mwonzora Vows To Spring Up Candidates for 2023 Elections

This Thursday is the deadline for prospective candidates to submit their applications, and the MDC, led by Douglas Mwonzora, will have one-day primaries across the nation in regions where there are two candidates running for each seat.

Mwonzora claims that the 50 party-affiliated members of parliament who are already serving were unopposed, leaving the party to choose candidates for the 160 remaining constituencies.

These are the districts where primary elections would take place, however only the party structures inside those districts would be allowed to vote.

Wrote Mwonzora yesterday following statements by critics:”Some people and organizations pretend to know even when it is obvious they know nothing.

“They resort to outright lies. @mdc263 has resolved on fighting the elections. And it will field a Presidential candidate! Lies have short legs.”

Govt Rushes To Enact Law Punishing Sanctions Debates Ahead of 2023 Elections

ZIYAMBI ZIYAMBI

The Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Amendment Bill, which attempts to penalise those who advocate for sanctions and trade boycotts against Zimbabwe through lobbying and engagement with foreign governments and harm to regular citizens, was approved by the Senate yesterday.
Emmerson Mnangagwa will now receive the bill for his approval.

Ziyambi Ziyambi, Minister of Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs, stated that the Bill was not intended to limit criticism of the Government or the President but rather to punish people who collude with foreign governments or their agents to harm Zimbabwe’s sovereignty or national interest.

“We are not trying to inflict pain on anyone, but we want to deal with those individuals who engage foreign governments or their agents in meetings, calling for trade boycotts or imposition of sanctions against the country and causing suffering to ordinary people,” he said.

Minister Ziyambi denied claims by members in the British House of Lords that the Bill was meant to stop criticism of the President, saying it was evidence of their “ignorance to discuss something which is not there”.

The proposed amendments on Clause 2 (3) read as follows: “Any citizen or permanent resident of Zimbabwe who, within or outside Zimbabwe, intentionally partakes in any meeting, whose object or one of whose objects the accused knows, or has reasonable grounds for believing involves the consideration of or the planning for the implementation or enlargement of sanctions or a trade boycott against Zimbabwe (whether those sanctions or that boycott is untargeted or targets any individual or official, or class of individuals or officials), but whose effects indiscriminately affect the people of Zimbabwe as a whole, or any substantial section thereof, shall be guilty of willfully damaging the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe…”

The clause provides penalties that include a fine not exceeding level twelve or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years, or both.

Other proposed penalties include termination of the citizenship of the convicted person if that person is a citizen by registration or a dual citizen, prohibition of being a registered voter for a period ranging between five and 15 years and prohibition of standing for a public office for a prescribed period.

Other amendments in the Bill include Clause 5 that seeks to amends section 174(1) of the principal Act after it was felt that the current framing of the offence of criminal abuse of office as provided was very broad in its scope in that it gives room for public officers to be prosecuted for honest mistakes made during the course of their duties.

The proposed amendment will limit the crime to include an essential element of knowledge on the part of a public official that his or her conduct was illegal.

The Bill also provides for a mandatory minimum sentence in rape and murder cases and expands the definition of “dangerous drugs”.

Residents Drink Contaminated Water

CHIPINGE -Three people have died of cholera in Chipinge district, and seventeen cases have been recorded.
Acting District Medical Officer Dr Ozzimo Matekenya confirmed the deaths in the last three weeks.
He said seventeen cases recorded in the district are from Chipangai, Middle Sabi and Mutema hot spots. The cause of cholera in the hot spots is contaminated water from unprotected sources, according to Matekenya. He discouraged the use of home remedies to treat diarrhoea.

“People are drinking contaminated water from canals and Save River. The main challenge we have with the people from the affected areas is that there say safe water from boreholes does not taste good. They prefer water from Save River. Most of the affected people are from farms where there are no toilets. We went to those areas and met with farmers so that they fix temporary toilets and stop drinking water from canals and rivers,” he said.
“Basically, it’s about health promotion. We strongly advise people to exercise maximum hygiene to prevent cholera. They shouldn’t eat cold food and stop open defecation.

“Our appeal to everyone who has diarrhoea is they should just come to the hospital and must not do home remedies. These remedies will delay people from being treated. Let us treat diarrhoea as cholera for now…Masvingo Mirror

Cattle Rustler Nabbed

A suspected cattle rustler has been arrested in Marondera for allegedly stealing four cattle in the farming area.

The 40-year-old Elson Chimutunga of Chiyanike village under Chief Nenguo in Marondera District was arrested after being found in possession of two slaughtered beasts and two other live cattle tied to a nearby tree.

ZRP Mashonaland East Province spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii noted, “I can confirm the arrest of Chimutunga of Nenguo on stock theft charges and he is expected to appear in court soon.”

He then alerted other villagers who conducted a search and recovered two beasts which were tied to a tree.

Further investigations led to the recovery of the two slaughtered beasts leading to the arrest of the accused.

“I was awakened by a strange noise which led us to investigate it is sad we still have people who are stealing other people’s property in this way,” said Julius Marondera, a farmer.

Kasukuwere Dares Mnangagwa

Billiat Not Leaving Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided on Khama Billiat’s Chiefs as his contract is coming to an end.

The Zimbabwean midfielder’s five-year deal is set to expire at the end of this month and the talks only started after the South African season ended late last month.

According to Soccer Laduma, Billiat received few offers, including one from Tanzanian giants Young Africans, and his representatives decided that staying at Naturena for another season was, in their opinion, his best possible option.

The publication adds that negotiations have progressed well, and the parties have agreed on a new one-year deal.

An unnamed source was quoted as saying: “The team wanted to hear from the player’s side if he wanted to stay with the conditions they were giving him and it came to light that the player wanted to stay.

“They have agreed on most of the issues included in the contract which I am not at liberty to say. But what I can say is that they have agreed on a new one-year renewable deal.”- Soccer24 News

PSL Cancels All Matches

The Premier Soccer League confirmed the suspension of all league games with immediate effect.

The suspension is due to maintenance work on water reticulation at National Sports Stadium in Harare.

This leaves the capital without certified venues to host the games.

The stadium currently hosts at least four games per week, which is almost half of the games per matchday.

Eight out of eighteen teams have been using the ground as their home stadium.

The games will resume on the 1st of July 2023.

A statement by the league reads: “This serves to advise that the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is taking a break with immediate effect and will resume on the 1st of July 2023.

“This has been necessitated by the maintenance work on water reticulation being carried out at the National Sports Stadium and to allow the playing field to regenerate.

“We also expect refurbishment works at Rufaro, Nyamhunga and Dakubbva Stadia to be completed before we resume Castle Lager PSL matches.”- Soccer24 News
