Man Hauled To Court For Assaulting Cop

By A Correspondent- A 20-year-old man appeared in court for assaulting a police officer while resisting lawful arrest.

Arnold Tembo, of Epworth, was remanded in custody when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Caroline Matanga.

He will again appear in court on November 3, for commencement of trial.

The State said on October 22, the complainant, Tapiwa Chimonyo, was on duty with other officers targeting vendors and touts, when he tried to arrest Tembo who was selling eggs.

The court heard that Tembo became violent and started assaulting the officer with fists.

Tembo also stabbed the officer on the chest with a sharp object.

The cop was helped by members of the public to apprehend Tembo, after he attempted to flee from the scene.

In his defence, Tembo said he was unaware that Chimonyo was a cop when he assaulted him.

Health Experts Wary Of Cholera Vaccines Shortage

A strained global supply of cholera vaccines has obliged the International Coordinating Group (ICG) — the body which manages emergency supplies of vaccines — to temporarily suspend the standard two-dose vaccination regimen in cholera outbreak response campaigns, using instead a single-dose approach.

The pivot in strategy will allow for the doses to be used in more countries, at a time of unprecedented rise in cholera outbreaks worldwide.

Since January this year, 29 countries have reported cholera cases, including Haiti, Malawi and Syria which are facing large outbreaks. In comparison, in the previous 5 years, fewer than 20 countries on average reported outbreaks. The global trend is moving towards more numerous, more widespread and more severe outbreaks, due to floods, droughts, conflict, population movements and other factors that limit access to clean water and raise the risk of cholera outbreaks.

The one-dose strategy has proven to be effective to respond to outbreaks, even though evidence on the exact duration of protection is limited, and protection appears to be much lower in children. With a two-dose regimen, when the second dose is administrated within 6 months of the first, immunity against infection lasts for 3 years.

The benefit of supplying one dose still outweighs no doses: although the temporary interruption of the two-dose strategy will lead to a reduction and shortening of immunity, this decision will allow more people to be vaccinated and provide them protection in the near term, should the global cholera situation continue deteriorating.

The current supply of cholera vaccines is extremely limited.

Its use for emergency response is coordinated by the ICG which manages the global stockpile of oral cholera vaccines. Of the total 36 million doses forecast to be produced in 2022, 24 million have already been shipped for preventive (17%) and reactive (83%) campaigns and an additional 8 million doses were approved by the ICG for the second round for emergency vaccination in 4 countries, illustrating the dire shortage of the vaccine. As vaccine manufactures are producing at their maximum current capacity, there is no short-term solution to increase production. The temporary suspension of the two-dose strategy will allow the remaining doses to be redirected for any needs for the rest of the year.

This is a short-term solution but to ease the problem in the longer term, urgent action is needed to increase global vaccine production.

The ICG will continue to monitor the global epidemiological trends as well as the status of the cholera vaccine stockpile, and will review this decision regularly.

About the ICG
The ICG is an international group that manages and coordinates the provision of emergency vaccine supplies and antibiotics to countries during major disease outbreaks. It manages the global stockpile of the oral cholera vaccine. The group is composed of members of WHO, Médecins Sans Frontières, UNICEF and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The ICG was established in 1997, following major outbreaks of meningitis in Africa, as a mechanism to manage and coordinate the provision of emergency vaccine supplies and antibiotics to countries during major outbreaks.

Since the establishment of the cholera vaccine stockpile in 2013, 120 million doses of oral cholera vaccine doses have been shipped to 23 countries, of which 73 million (60%) has been approved for emergency response.- Source : WHO

Woman Attacks Neighbour Over Affair With Hubby

NEVER expect a happy ending to the kind of relationship that is built on a foundation of infidelity. It will either end ugly or will leave you heartbroken.

This was at play when a woman from Gokwe was left nursing severe burns after she was scalded with hot cooking oil by her neighbour who suspected that she was having an affair with her husband.

Progressive Gwetsuro (21) from Mutora area in Gokwe North allegedly scalded Nyasha Zaranyika with hot cooking oil after she accused her of having an affair with her unidentified husband.

During the incident, Gwetsuro also scalded her love rival’s sister Fortunate Zaranyika with hot cooking oil.

Circumstances are that on 5 August 2022 and at around 5pm Nyasha arrived home from Mutora Business Centre where she had gone to do some piece jobs.

It is reported that on arrival Gwetsuro called Nyasha’s relatives and told them that she was having an affair with her husband.

When Nyasha was summoned and asked about the allegations which had been levelled against her, she vehemently denied them.

That reportedly didn’t go down well with Gwetsuro who quickly went into her room and came back carrying a pot with boiling cooking oil and poured it on Nyasha.

Nyasha sustained severe burns on her head, hands, chest and shoulder.

It is reported that while she was hurling a pot with hot cooking oil at Nyasha, her sister Fortunate who was nearby was also doused in the process.

Fortunate also sustained injuries on the head, left side of the shoulder and on the chest.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Gwetsuro’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court charged with assault.

Gwetsuro was not asked to plead when she appeared before Gokwe magistrate Hilary Ndlovu who remanded her out of custody to October 24.

Aston Villa Name New Coach

Aston Villa have announced their new substantive head coach following the recent sacking of Steven Gerrard.

Villa have appointed former Arsenal boss Unai Emery on undisclosed terms.

Emery, who is joining the Birmingham-based club from La Liga side Villarreal, will officially begin his reign on November 1 after completing all the formalities of his work permit.

A statement by Villa reads: “Aston Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Unai Emery as the club’s new Head Coach.

“Unai joins from Villarreal, whom he led to Europa League success by beating Manchester United in the final in 2021 as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

“A highly experienced top level coach who has managed over 900 games, Unai has also previously managed in the Premier League during a spell with Arsenal, leading the Gunners to a Europa League final.

“He has also enjoyed notable success at Sevilla and at Paris Saint Germain. In Seville, he won three successive Europa League titles between 2013 and 2016 before going on to lift a Ligue 1 championship in France as well as two French Cups, two French League Cups and two Trophée des Champions.

“Unai will take over from November 1st after his work permit formalities are completed.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Zemura Struggles To Impress Bournemouth Bosses

Jordan Zemura seems to be falling down the pecking order at Bournemouth after the left-back was dropped to the bench for the third successive game.

The Warriors international last started in a match in a goalless draw against Brentford earlier in the month.

Since then, he only featured for ten minutes, when he came on as a late substitute in the previous round.

Zemura returns to the bench again tonight as the Cherries face West Ham in the EPL.

The lack of game time comes after the new interim coach Gary O’Neil changed the team’s tactical approach.

Zemura initially enjoyed regular game time under O’Neil, who took over the reins in late August following Scott Parker’s sacking, and the player was one of the best-performing players at the club this term.

The coach is now employing right-back, Adam Smith, as his preferred option in the left-back position.

In a previous interview, the gaffer explained that he wanted to contain their opponents’ threat from that flank, hence the changes in his first XI.

But it seems O’Neil is now convinced with that line-up, and this might signal something unpleasant for Zemura at the club.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Corruption Killing Economy, Not Sanctions – CCC

By Charles Dzimwasha| The Citizens Coalition for Change ( CCC) says corruption is killing the economy, not sanctions.

In a statement on Tuesday, CCC Namibia described the anti-sanctions day as a nonevent.

Read statement below:

“It’s poor governance, gross abuse of human rights, and senseless corruption not targeted sanctions!”, CCC Namibia echoes.

25 October 2022

Citizens in Namibia join the rest of the progressive Zimbabweans across the globe in castigating #RealSanctionsZW imposed on the citizenry by the clueless and politically inept ZANU-PF regime. We have joined the anti-sanctions crusade demonstrating our fury and disgruntlement over perpetual violations of human rights in Zimbabwe. Today is an opportunity to raise our placards advocating for an abrupt end to ZANU-PF-imposed sanctions.

Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s desperate regime called for annual protests on the 25th of October, alleging Zimbabwe is being punished for the land reform program under the late President Robert Mugabe in 2000, which forcefully displaced white commercial farmers and gave land to the local people. Citizens in Namibia don’t share the same plate of opinion with the Harare regime because it is quite clear that the U.S. imposed sanctions are not hurting Zimbabwe’s sunken economy, as they don’t affect banks, pointing to billions of misappropriated dollars smuggled to Dubai by the corrupt ZANU-PF stomach politicians.

Moreover, we have witnessed the shameful disappearance of 15billion US dollars from Marange, 60 million covid funds stolen by the former Health Minister Obadiah Moyo, Mayor Wadyajena looted 5 million US$ from Cotco, Mupfumira stole close to 100 000 US$ Nssa funds only to mention but a few. Looting and misallocation of the nation cake have authored our unprecedented suffering of innocent citizens in the motherland. We believe that the biggest sanctions in Zimbabwe and the entire region are ZANU-PF. If any sanction should go, it must be the Harare regime!

Apart from their cash nexus syndrome which continues unabated and with impunity, ZANU-PF goes on with their abuse of the fundamental basic human rights, especially during the election season. Throughout our by-election campaign as Citizens Coalition for Change(CCC), we have endured disastrous human butchery, intimidation, torture, arbitrary arrests, and long pre-trial detentions of dissenters. Recently, Matobo, and Insiza by-elections were met with serious state-sponsored violence which saw Hon Tofa hospitalized with broken arms after four able-bodied ZANU-PF thugs tortured her without hearts. Our women change champions were also undressed which is not only unconstitutional but diabolical. Honourable Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole and the Nyatsime 15 are rotting in prison for defending the rule of law and constitutionalism.

We recently lost Mboneni Ncube, Langelihle Dube, Moreblessing Ali, Nyasha Zhambe, Chinembiri not forgetting Talent Mabika, Gift Tandare, Learnmore Jongwe, Tonderai, Itai Dzamara on account of politics. May their dear souls rest in peace! Our biggest worry is the weaponization of the law and law fare in Zimbabwe aimed at punishing innocent citizens at the expense of ZANU-PF criminals who are cushioned on partisan grounds. This embargo is the one that should go first.

Leave Urban Seats, Concentrate On Rural Campaign, Sarkozy Tells MPs

Tinashe Sambiri|Tough-talking CCC youth assembly official, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, has challenged all sitting MPs to step out of the urban comfort zone and concentrate on rural mobilization.

According to Chuma, all MPs with more than one term should move to the rural areas for mobilization.

“We can’t have a rural candidate asina kana bhasikoro in vast rural constituencies while those who have been MPs since 2000 are getting comfortable seats in towns.

If we genuinely want change, let those who have acquired cars as MPs go to their rural areas.

We must never miss next year’s opportunity to elect a responsible government led by @nelsonchamisa. Let’s register to vote in our numbers fellow youths. Voting works! If Zambia did it, we can also do it. #RegisterToVoteZW,” Sarkozy postulated.

We Will Never Give Up, President Chamisa On Weekend By-elections

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa says the citizens’ movement is unstoppable.

Despite rampant intimidation of opposition members and rigging, President Chamisa has assured the nation that victory in 2023 is certain.

“AGAINST ALL ODDS!! Never give up.Yellow is everywhere. We’ve done very well. We have a national presence and ubiquitous footprint.Thank you beloved fellow citizens.

WE’RE A CITIZENS’ MOVEMENT! #Citizensfirst #Fakapressure,” said President Chamisa.

He was responding to Dr Denver’s comment below:

“If Zanu PF is so popular and loved broadly, why does it need to use violence to achieve its political means? If you are that loved why would you be so concerned about insignificant Twitter parties to beat up and kill its members?”

Police Herd Stolen Goats

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Republic Police officers stationed at Waterfalls Police Station spent the better part of Sunday herding 98 goats, which were recovered, after being stolen from Siyakobvu.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said 166 goats were stolen and four suspects have been arrested for the theft.

“Investigations are underway to determine how these goats found their way to Harare.

“The suspects are detained at Waterfalls Police Station, awaiting documentation to transfer them back to Siyakobvu,” he said.

The suspected thieves had already found a market for the goats before they were nabbed. Officer Commanding Harare Province, Commissioner Wonder Tembo, last week warned cattle rustlers that their days were  numbered.

Morgan High School Pupil Crashed By Bus Named

By A Correspondent- The Morgan High School learner, who died on the spot after being struck by a bus driving on the wrong side of Seke Road, has been named as Chaleen Chivhiya.

She was in Form One at the school, which is in Arcadia, Harare.

The incident has left the school in shock.

It comes on the day Tynwald High School, which lost six students in a bus accident recently, opened its doors again after a week of mourning.

Yesterday’s incident happened near Arcadia Shopping Centre.

As it approached Arcadia Shopping Centre traffic lights, the driver went into the oncoming traffic lane in a reckless bid to beat the traffic jam.

At about the same time, the student was crossing Seke Road, and the lane was clear, in terms of traffic coming from the city end.

She was knocked down and dragged under the bus for several metres before it eventually stopped.

“Driver azoridza bhera mwana was already under the bus,” said a witness.

“He kept driving and only stopped after the robots.

“ ED’s Gvt Sinking Low”: Magaya

21/10/22

President Mnangagwa’s Govt is sinking so low

President Mnangagwa’s government has all but thrown caution to the wind. Nothing matters anymore except anything and everything perceived to bring votes to keep him in office.

The latest move to coerce teachers to go and attend his rally in Harare under the guise Teachers for ED puts the final nail to the coffin.

We all know civil servants ought to be apolitical but when you have them join a parallel politically inclined structure and come out in the open, it means you have chewed up the constitution and thrown all threw out all Public Service regulations through the window. Mr President.

Can the converse obtain Mr President, we ask? Would teachers and other civil servants whose hearts goes out for your rival Nelson Chamisa of CCC openly attend your nemesis’s political rally and live to see the day? It seems this hypocrisy is becoming the order of the day

Why sink so low, to the extend you compartmentalize the nation, worse still your party.

You have clearly and repeatedly warned the church to stay away from politics even though such notion is misplaced, but here you are, making forays into the church, setting up these pseudo structures “Pastors for ED” are you not meddling Mr President?

Who shall whisper to you given that your are the president, you represent everyone including those that didn’t vote for you? Why minimize yourself to this level?

Your party cadres are committing political violence in broad daylight using vehicles branded your party and recently Owen Mudha former Minister warned of bloodshed in the 2023 elections, that doesn’t move you an inch.

The rate at which robberies are occurring in our Zimbabwe is unprecedented. As is that is not enough, some members of the security forces both retired and even those in active duty have been nabbed or fingered in such lawlessness and for you life goes on.

Shoddy deals by ministers and in some instance with your children and close relatives occur, still no word nor action from you. Once the fish starts to rot from the head, it becomes a disaster because the body will then rot even faster.

You recently received a state of the art Helicopter Ambulance and within the same period an accident occurred in the mountainous Nyanga and this air machine would have saved lives if only we could do away with “cheff and povo” mentality.

You preach a lot of magnanimity, yet reality on the ground you exhibit a mean uncaring selfish unpatriotic attitude towards your fellow countrymen as they suffer and irk out a living in their God given But very rich country.

You need to be reminded that you are still mortal and only God is sovereign and everlasting. You preach a lot about anti-corruption yet cases without number have come to the fore and all you do is  turn a blind eye. COTCO is a case in point.

Communcal farmers who brave the sweltering heat of Gowke and other places suffer the misfortune of being told that part of the payment of their cotton proceeds will be in the form of groceries, some RTGS and a little amount in US$, what mockery, yet an MP, chairman of a Parliamentary portfolio committee of this sector is caught by ZACC with hands in this same jar.

Nothing moves your conscience anymore Mr President. Cronyism       God says you “These things you have done I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face” Ps 50:21

Your administration denies people justice, remands without end for frivolous reasons. If you had not been jailed by Smith’s regime at some point, one would excuse you but you were once incarcerated for your freedom of rights and conscience, why you repeat exactly the same if not worse than Smith boggles the mind.

BREAKING- WhatsApp Is Down

By A Correspondent- Users are experiencing challenges with sending or receiving messages on the platform WhatsApp in a development indicating that the app is facing a glitch.

Thousands of WhatsApp users across the world reported they were unable to send and receive messages on Tuesday morning, suggesting the popular chat platform was suffering a major outage.

The WhatsApp Downdetector page showed a surge in user reports in South Africa and abroad from around 09:00 (SAST).

A WhatsApp spokesperson said the company was aware that “some people” were having trouble sending messages and that it was working to restore the service for everyone as quickly as possible.

Several MyBroadband staff members and readers were unable to send or receive messages using the WhatsApp Android, iOS, or desktop apps.

Attempting to do so would only show the loading clock icon next to the message, indicating it had not finished sending.

On the desktop app, one staff member was getting a “Connecting to WhatsApp” error, as shown below.

Selecting the “Retry Now” button did not resolve the issue.

Another staff member received a notification from WhatsApp that he might have unread messages, but did not see any when opening the app.

The graph from Downdetector shows the increase in reports of problems using WhatsApp in Southern Africa on Tuesday, 25 October 2022.

At 10:00 on Tuesday, Meta Platforms updated its WhatsApp Business API status page to acknowledge the disruption.

“We are aware of major disruptions impacting the ability to send messages via the WhatsApp Business Platform. Our teams are working to mitigate the issue,” it stated.

The outage is affecting WhatsApp’s cloud API and on-premises solution.

This is developing story.

“Give Soldiers Money”: Chinotimba

By A Correspondent- The dire state of government finances has now come into perspective with Cabinet ministers warning of crisis situations in key security services such as the military and the police as Treasury swung the axe, massively reducing their budget requests for 2023.

Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube famously claimed that “zvakarongeka (our finances are in order)” during an interview, and the treasury boss and his team often flaunt their prudent management of public finances, regularly pointing to claiming budget surpluses.

They need to be in barracks,” said the defence minister.

“They are given all sorts of names, they use public transport, they are insulted on a daily basis and whilst on duty, they sometimes go without food.

“On the food items they are supposed to be getting 53 items but this has been reduced to five items only. Soldiers were going for Sadza and beans without cooking oil daily.”

Home affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe said the situation was equally bad for the country’s police service.

“The police force situation is very desperate,” he warned.

“You should actually be thanking the police that we still have sanity and tranquillity in our country because of the situation these men and women are going through.”

Zanu-PF’s Buhera South legislator Joseph Chinotimba warned the ministers to remember that their security was provide by these disgruntled officers, adding that the situation was a national security threat.

“You are all being guarded by these security forces,” said Chinotimba.

“A soldier is the last person to defend the country. Let us be serious. You cannot feed a soldier with beans. Kuhondo taiti Gandanga haridye derere mukoma! Vapeyi mari kubva nhasi!”

Independent Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa questioned prioritisation of scarce resources pointing out that while critical services were underfunded, government still managed to find money for minister’s vehicles and housing loans.

He claimed ministers were had two government issue luxury vehicles, adding they were also given housing loans of US$500,000 each.

“Ministers no longer care for the people because they were given loans amounting to half a million United States dollars to buy houses and cars,” he said, further accusing top government officials of corruption.

There is no collaboration in government. July Moyo is spending devolution money willy-nilly. He is taking Chiefs’ money. Who is he!? We tired of July Moyo? We do not want to see him.”

Despite the concerns raised by Ministers, Treasury still swung the axe and massively reduced the funding bids by government departments for 2023.

The defence ministry had its budget reduced to $226 billion from the $800 billion the department had asked for.

For the public service, Treasury approved $87 billion, against a bid of $657 billion, while higher and tertiary education will get $99.4 billion, down from the requested $176 billion.

Sports minister Kirsty Coventry also complained that, “our budget is underfunded. We are calling for treasury to consider an upward review of our request.”

Her ministry’s bid was $340 billion but treasury put a ceiling of $11.7 billion.

Speaker Jacob Mudenda challenged Parliamentary committees and government departments to come up with domestic resource mobilisation strategies to help alleviate poverty across the country.

“We are expected to propose strategies to push the masses out of poverty and offer solutions for our country’s most pressing challenge,” he said.

Will Chiwenga Topple ED At ZANU PF Congress?

Zanu PF 7th Congress opens in Harare with more than 3 500 delegates expected to attend the event running under the theme: “Building a Prosperous Zimbabwe, Leaving No One and No Place Behind”.

Apart from the politics, and in line with President Mnangagwa’s thrust of putting the economy first, a business expo will also be conducted on the sidelines of the congress that caps elective conferences that have been held this year which include the Women’s League, Youth League and War Veterans League.

Accreditation of delegates began late last week across all the country’s 10 provinces, and now final touches are being put in place for the holding of a congress that will be officially opened by Zanu PF First Secretary, President Mnangagwa.

More than 3 500 local delegates will physically attend the congress while invited guests from sister revolutionary parties in the SADC region, African continent and beyond will also grace the event.

Ruling parties expected to be in attendance are Chama Cha Mapinduzi of Tanzania, Frelimo of Mozambique, South Africa’s African National Congress, People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola, South West Africa People’s Organisation of Namibia, Botswana Democratic Party, Malawi Congress Party and Burundi’s ruling party, the National Council for the Defence of Democracy — Forces for the Defence of Democracy (CNDD–FDD), among others.

Delegates from the Communist Party of China, Russian Conservative Political party, Communist Party of Cuba and the December 12 Movement from the United States are expected to grace the congress.

Zanu PF director for Information and Publicity Tafadzwa Mugwadi said that all systems are in place for the congress.

He said all wings of the party have endorsed President Mnangagwa as the party’s sole Presidential candidate for 2023 harmonised elections.

“What is most crucial is that as the congress goes into motion this week, what is clearer now is that this congress follows declarations upon declarations by the elective National Youth League, Women’s League and the War Veterans League conferences that President Mnangagwa is the party’s sole Presidential candidate.

“All the three organs of the party have endorsed the indisputable candidature of President Mnangagwa as the sole candidate ahead of the harmonised elections pencilled for 2023.

“All the country’s 10 provinces also held their Provincial Co-ordinating Committees and in the process confirmed President Mnangagwa as the party’s only foot soldier for the Presidential race,” Mugwadi said.

He said the party through the Department of Finance and Economic Development will be holding a business expo on the side-lines of the congress.

“We are encouraging all businesses both private and public to take the opportunity created by the Zanu PF Congress to market their products,” Mugwadi said.

All this comes at a time when rumours claimed that Emmerson Mnangagwa will be removed by his deputy Constantino Chiwenga. Many analysts however said this is highly unlikely to happen, due to the manner in which Mnangagwa has entrenched power to himself. – state media additional reporting.

Sanctions Relief Is Not For Those Who Steal

By Simba Chikanza | Emmerson Mnangagwa’s personal prophet, Andrew Wutaunashe leading a small group of preachers who include Nehemiah Mutendi and Fidelis Mukonori, this time last year, announced to the British community’s most senior religious advisor, the Archbishop of Canterbury, that he should tell the UK government to remove targeted sanctions against Mnangagwa and a close clique of aides. Justin Welby in response told him that sanctions relief is only for those who do not steal their own country’s money.

Wutaunashe had at the time claimed he is representing a broad consensus of preachers when he said “Zimbabwe has been under sanctions for 50 years and they are hurting the poor and destroying infrastructure.”

He claimed that he is troubled by the plight of the poor. He said, “we’re actually troubled for the poor… because of the politics and the discord led nature to sanctions and Zimbabwe has been under sanctions for 50 years, ever since the days you’re aware of, of Ian Smith.

“But now the present sanctions are crippling the poor, they are not tutoring anybody, so we wanted to ask, even now we had the UN repertoire, who came and confirmed the same, investigated everything and discovered that the sanctions are actually doing the same(sic), destroying infrastructure that supposed to be for the poor, for the common people, destroying employment, and we are requesting your voice, and we felt in particular that your voice, you would help us you would help the political powers that be, to have a bit of conscience.”

Responding, Archbishop Welby said to Wutaunashe, “thank you very much and this is very very important.”

He continued saying, Sanctions Relief Initiative should be only for the poor who don’t steal money that is not theirs.

He said, “I will obviously read this later today.

“I will discuss it with other people here and see how we can advocate for sanctions relief while ensuring that those who steal money that is not theirs…don’t benefit from sanctions relief.”

Chamisa Rubbishes Madzibaba VeShanduko Defection Reports

By-The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has rubbished claims that top activist, Godfrey Karembera AKA Madzibaba veShanduko, has defected to Zanu PF.

Social media was Saturday awash with reports that Karembera had joined the ruling party because he was not getting any material support from CCC.

Posting on his Twitter account, Zanu PF Youth League National Deputy Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya said Karembera had opened up to him when he visited his homestead in Guruve. Said Kandishora:

Madzibaba Weshanduko said “Commissar let’s go to my house so that we talk.” He said “madzibaba hupenyu hwakandiomera kuCCC vakuru vanodya vega (Life is difficult for me. My leaders do not care about us.) Buy me a battery for my incubator. Voting day I will do what changes my life.”

Karembera however, told Newzimbabwe.com that Kandishora lied. NewZimbabwe quotes as saying:

They are trying all strategies to destroy the party but they will never win. They first tried to kill me but they failed. They offered me a car and I turned the offer down.

Today I was shocked to see my photos with the CIOs on social media.

There was a funeral at my neighbours’ homestead which I attended the funeral. Everyone knows me and a lot of people wanted to have a selfie moment with me. I did that happily not knowing some were on a mission to fabricate lies about me.

I was not even aware that some of the people who wanted photos with me were Zanu-PF activists on a plot to soil my relationship with my party leaders but anyway, I have not joined Zanu-PF. I remain with CCC.

Karembera said some of the mourners visited his homestead to see his projects, adding he did not turn anyone away because he thought they had genuine interests.

CCC deputy national spokesperson Ostallos Siziba said the ruling party was “desperate” and was selling cheap propaganda.

Madzibaba veShanduko has been a regular and popular face at CCC rallies around the country.

Mnangagwa Captures Teachers

THE recent launch of the ‘Teachers for ED’ project by President Emmerson Mnangagwa has raised fears of rigging of next year’s general elections as the same educators who have endorsed him will be among those recruited by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to work as polling officers around the country.

Traditionally, Zec recruits teachers from a pool of public sector workers to play various roles in the voting process.

These roles include being voter educators, polling officers and presiding officers in the ward-based system of voting adopted in Zimbabwe when the country ushered in its new constitution in 2013.

During the launch of the Teachers for ED project at the Harare International Conference Centre, the members of the programme were quick to announce that they were going to be backing Mnangagwa as Zanu PF’s sole presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

The teachers, drawn from the country’s 10 provinces, were visibly excited as they enjoyed the pomp and ceremony whike decked out in colourful Zanu PF regalia. Song and dance was the order of the day.

Zec has always been seen as lacking independence in running the elections, but the body is further compromised by working with partisan teachers in its electoral processes.

The current set up therefore gives a precursor to yet another disputed election in 2023 in which the current leader President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be seeking to wrest a second term by dribbling past charismatic opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa.

Teachers for ED chairperson Amon Chihocha, Education minister Evelyn Ndlovu and other senior Zanu PF members like Patrick Chinamasa and Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri during the launch in Harare openly showered Mnangagwa with praises.

Mnangagwa during the launch urged the overjoyed teachers to remain firm in supporting the ruling party and his presidential bid.

“Reject those who may seek to derail your cause, founding revolutionary aspirations and the pan-African values of your budding organisation,” said the Zanu PF leader, adding:

“As the teaching fraternity, never allow yourselves to be used as tools by our country’s detractors in their divisive and subversive activities. Always remain patriotic and loyal to our country.”

“Informed by this relationship, our Zanu PF party must remain closely connected with the education sector and the teaching fraternity immersed in the party.

“We must never again allow any challenges or differences we may face as a people to separate these two institutions.”

Political analyst Professor Stephen Chan said while the rigging may not happen during voting day itself, it could happen a day before or after polling during vote counting.

“Not all teachers will be part of this group that supports the President. In any case, there will be enough observers and party agents at the elections to ensure that polling day goes well. It’s what happens before polling day, and the nature of the count afterwards, that really matter,” he said.

In their capacities as presiding officers at polling stations, teachers will be in charge of receiving ballots before polling day and will have powers to determine the final outcome after counting and passing on the tallied vote papers and electoral residues to command centres.

Political commentator Rashweat Mukundu expressed concern on the Teachers for ED project ahead of the next elections.

“I think it shows the absurdity of all this personalisation of all these institutions that must be independent and professional but are now politicised, meaning a restriction to exercising free political rights by teachers and various groups that ED is seeking to appropriate to his political campaign for 2023 to retain the presidency.”

“Of course this is a worrying situation in which teachers who are supposed to be election agents and conducting the voting as recruited for Zec are now for ED. How do we have a free and fair election?” he asked.

Mukundu said the opposition and the international community have every reason to question this approach by Mnangagwa in terms of the country’s electoral processes.

“What we are seeing is a dangerous precedent in which everyone in society is ultimately being put in a particular group that supports President ED’s political campaign while those dissenting are essentially targeted for repression,” said Mukundu.- The Hawks

South African Arrested Over USD154,000 Gold

A South African, Peter Coetzee, alias Van Tonder Vikus, alias Johannes Jacobus Conelius Naude, yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Taurai Manuwere facing charges of duping two gold miners of 2,8kg of gold valued at US$154 000.

The man, whose legal name cannot be confirmed since he has not tendered his identification particulars, allegedly presented himself as a gold buyer and investor to miner Mr Gift Kudakwashe Minenji of Pistol Mine.

At this point, it is alleged that Coetzee (54), was staying at a guest house in Borrowdale, Harare.

It is the State’s case that on June 27 last year, Mr Minenji was lured to the guest house, where he went with 1,2kg gold that he wanted to sell. At about 10am, he met Coetzee, and was shown a fake proof of bank transfer.

Coetzee then said he was getting into the house to collect the balance, and his gold buying permit, but allegedly gathered his belongings and disappeared using another door, without the knowledge of Mr Minenji.

When contacted via mobile phone, Coetzee’s accomplice claimed they had gone to Fidelity Printers and Refiners in Msasa to look for more money, but the numbers were no longer going through later on.

Realising he had been duped, Mr Minenji reported the matter at ZRP Borrowdale.

In another count, Coetzee is alleged to have contacted Mr Simba Dumbura, a gold miner at S and J Mining Syndicate in Penhalonga near Mutare.

Coetzee allegedly lured Mr Dumbura by claiming he wanted to be an investor and form a partnership that would run for about five years.

On June 7 last year, Coetzee allegedly invited Mr Dumbura to the Harare guest house for a business meeting.

Mr Dumbura travelled to Harare on June 8 and met Coetzee who said he wanted to work with Mr Dumbura as a partner in his business.

It was then agreed that Coetzee visit Mr Dumbura’s mine so he knew about the operations. A week later Coetzee allegedly visited. After touring the mine, they then agreed that Mr Dumbura should bring to Coetzee the gold they produce for sampling.

On August 27 last year Mr Dumbura drove to Harare to meet Coetzee so that the 1,6kg of gold he was bringing could be sampled.

Mr Dumbura was asked to proceed to a lodge in Avondale where they would meet and on arrival at around 5pm, Coetzee was not there, but he had made accommodation booking for Mr Dumbura.

Coetzee then arrived 45 minutes, later and asked to see the gold. Mr Dumbura, who was in the company of a relative, Mr Justine Mapandisana, showed Coetzee seven pieces of gold which he then started to weigh. During the transaction, Mr Dumbura recorded a short video footage using his mobile phone.

However, Coetzee allegedly pretended to have been infuriated that the gold brought was too little, and demanded that they went back to Mutare in the company of a man only known as Tanaka, who was Coetzee’s driver, so they bought more gold.

Coetzee picked up the gold pieces and went out of the lodge, leaving Tanaka behind, who he told that one Malvern, was bringing cash US$400 000, for use in buying more gold.

It is alleged that after a while, Tanaka received a call which he answered as if Malvern had come, and went outside but never returned. Sensing that he had been conned, Mr Dumbura went out of the lodge to check for himself but did not see anyone.

He tried their cellphone numbers but they were all unreachable, and then made a police report at ZRP Avondale.

Nothing has been recovered yet. No bail application was made as Coetzee’s place of residence is unknown and could therefore be a flight risk.

Mass Transfers Rock ZRP

By-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has instituted mass transfers of officers countrywide, a development that the police has described as routine.

However, there are reports that rising indiscipline, incompetence, and allegations of corruption triggered the mass transfers.

Harare province on Thursday last week transferred more than 450 police officers with immediate effect.

The transfers are reportedly affecting members of the ranks of the assistant inspector, sergeant-major, sergeant, and constable.

ZRP national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the transfers to Zimbabwe Independent. He said:

That leaked police internal communication was meant for the officer commanding Harare to transfer members within his province according to police regulations.

So there is nothing sinister or alarming about those transfers because, in terms of the police regulations, officers commanding provinces have the leeway to transfer members within their provinces to address manpower shortages, performance, and also the issue of job rotation.

It’s not unique to Harare. These transfers are being effected by officers commanding provinces throughout the country and this also relates to members from the CID.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Independent reported a police source as saying massive transfers will be done at the ZRP Traffic section and the CID’s Commercial Crimes Unit (CCU) in Harare province. Said the source:

These are critical departments considering the current state of affairs on Zimbabwe’s roads which need serious policing to control the chaos and the increasing traffic volume, especially in urban areas.

There are a number of CCU officers facing corruption allegations with a number of letters having been submitted.

… We cannot ignore the fact that some of the transfers are routine especially when a member moves close to his family or requests a transfer and it is granted.

However, units like the CCU are special and one cannot just join and is then relegated to handle ordinary duties like receiving clients at the reception desk.

That means the member has been removed from where the action is and would have been found unsuitable to handle critical duties including investigations.

Kaitano Tembo Faces Dismissal

Sekhukhune United coach Kaitano Tembo’s job is reportedly on the line after the coach received an ultimatum ahead of the clash against TS Galaxy.

According to Sowetan Live, Tembo, could be fired should he lose the match on October 30.

United have struggled to maintain consistency this season and the team is sitting on the second from bottom position with ten points from eleven games.

The coach is also struggling to get the players to play as a team and to get the best out of them.

The Zimbabwean recently admitted to feeling pressure following the club’s poor run of results.

“In this game there is always pressure, especially when you are not winning games irrespective of how your team is playing,” Tembo told reporters after the match.

“If you are not winning games there is always going to be pressure. Before you know it you are probably bottom of the log, so we need to start picking up points and start winning games.

“We need to start winning games and we have one game to go before TS Galaxy. We need to pick up points now and going into the break be able to reshuffle and reorganise ourselves.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

FIFA Ban Frustrating – Munetsi

Warriors star Marshall Munetsi has described the FIFA ban imposed on Zimbabwean football by FIFA, as sad and frustrating.

Zimbabwe was suspended from international football for what the world governing body termed ‘third party interference’ followed the decision made by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) to suspend the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA board.

The Gerald Mlotshwa-led SRC wielded the axe on the Kamambo-led adminstration for several violations, chief among them failure to account for public funds.

Consequently, Zimbabwe cannot take part in international matches as FIFA insist the only way the sanction will be lifted is the unconditional reinstatement of the Kamambo-led board.

Munetsi, who many tip to take over the Warriors captaincy after Knowledge Musona’s retirement, said the suspension is a major stumbling block for football development in the country.

“This ban has affected young players who have an ambition to be like me by coming to Europe,” the Stade de Reims man told BBC Sport Africa.

“It’s playing for my national team that gave me the opportunity to play against big countries and big players. It’s something that is sad and frustrating for us as a country, and for players.

“It’s a very complicated topic and I just hope the people involved can solve this because Fifa puts these rules [in place] to protect football.

“If our government doesn’t respect this, then we don’t deserve to play. I just hope the government can do the right thing and make sure we are able to play in the coming games,” Munetsi added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Aston Villa Return To Winning Ways

Marvelous Nakamba’s wait for his first minute in the 2022/23 EPL season continued after sitting out in Aston Villa’s 4-0 win over Brentford on Sunday.

Nakamba is yet to play this term and the Zimbabwean midfielder had hoped to get some minutes following changes in the technical set-up after head coach Steven Gerrard’s sacking last Thursday.

The 28-year-old endured a frustrating time under the previous coach and was in several games dropped from the matchday squad.

New interim coach Aaron Danks decided to keep Douglas Luiz in the central midfield, pairing him with Leander Dendoncker, who made his first start for the club.

The formation worked out and Villa ended their winless run with strikes from Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings’s brace.

Elsewhere, Arsenal played their first draw of the season, with Southampton holding them to a 1-1 stalemate.

The Gunners took the lead just eleven minutes into the game when Granit Xhaka fired into the roof of the net from a close range.

The Saints turned on the heat in the second half, with Stuart Armstrong getting the equaliser with a cool finish a few moments after hour.

Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard thought he’d won it late on, but his goal was ruled out after the ball rolled out of play in the build-up.

Leicester City moved out of the relegation zone, thanks to their 4-0 win at Wolves.

The Foxes got their goals from Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes in the first half, and James Maddison and Jamie Vardy in the second half.

Shortage Of Cholera Vaccines Worrisome

About Mental Health

New global WHO guidelines on mental health at work are reinforced by practical strategies outlined in a joint WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have called for concrete actions to address mental health concerns in the working population.

An estimated 12 billion workdays are lost annually due to depression and anxiety costing the global economy nearly US$ 1 trillion. Two new publications which aim to address this issue are published today – WHO Guidelines on mental health at work and a derivative WHO/ILO policy brief.

WHO’s global guidelines on mental health at work recommend actions to tackle risks to mental health such as heavy workloads, negative behaviours, and other factors that create distress at work. For the first time WHO recommends manager training, to build their capacity to prevent stressful work environments and respond to workers in distress.

WHO’s World Mental Health Report, published in June 2022, showed that of one billion people living with a mental disorder in 2019, 15% of working-age adults experienced a mental disorder. Work amplifies wider societal issues that negatively affect mental health, including discrimination and inequality. Bullying and psychological violence (also known as “mobbing”) is a key complaint of workplace harassment that has a negative impact on mental health. Yet discussing or disclosing mental health remains a taboo in work settings globally.

The guidelines also recommend better ways to accommodate the needs of workers with mental health conditions, propose interventions that support their return to work and, for those with severe mental health conditions, provide interventions that facilitate entry into paid employment. Importantly, the guidelines call for interventions aimed at the protection of health, humanitarian, and emergency workers.

“It’s time to focus on the detrimental effect work can have on our mental health,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “The well-being of the individual is reason enough to act, but poor mental health can also have a debilitating impact on a person’s performance and productivity. These new guidelines can help prevent negative work situations and cultures and offer much-needed mental health protection and support for working people.”

A separate WHO/ILO policy brief explains the WHO guidelines in terms of practical strategies for governments, employers and workers, and their organizations, in the public and private sectors. The aim is to support the prevention of mental health risks, protect and promote mental health at work, and support those with mental health conditions, so they can participate and thrive in the world of work. Investment and leadership will be critical to the implementation of the strategies.

“As people spend a large proportion of their lives in work – a safe and healthy working environment is critical. We need to invest to build a culture of prevention around mental health at work, reshape the work environment to stop stigma and social exclusion, and ensure employees with mental health conditions feel protected and supported,” said, Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General.

The ILO Occupational Safety and Health Convention (No. 155) and Recommendation (No. 164) provides legal frameworks to protect the health and safety of workers. However, the WHO Mental Health Atlas found that only 35% of countries reported having national programmes for work-related mental health promotion and prevention.

COVID-19 triggered a 25% increase in general anxiety and depression worldwide, exposing how unprepared governments were for its impact on mental health, and revealing a chronic global shortage of mental health resources. In 2020, governments worldwide spent an average of just 2% of health budgets on mental health, with lower-middle income countries investing less than 1%.

S*x Herbs Take Exhibition By Storm

THE Chesvingo Karanga Village stand proved to be a hit at the just ended Sanganani/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Bulawayo as most exhibitors, particularly men, flocked to the stand to buy sex enhancing herbs to boost their libido and immune system.

Of particular interest and the biggest seller was the powerful herbal aphrodisiac or herbal sex enhancer called muchemedzambuya.

Chesvingo Karanga Village tour guide Josias Shuro said there were three main sex enhancing herbs that received a lot of attention from exhibitors with the muchemedzambuya being the first to get finished.

“Muchemedzambuya is a powerful herb that is used by men to increase their sperm count, for fast ejaculation and to give firmer erections. We received a lot of customers inquiring about it and to date people are still calling us for more, we regret coming with a small amount,” said Shuro.

He said after taking it one is ensured to be fiery with passion and free to enjoy unbridled sexual experiences.

Shuro said besides the aphrodisiac herbs they had different herbs for cancer, backaches and sexually transmitted infections.

“We also have different herbs for backaches and piles and these are mostly for women who have given birth to two or more children and suffer from back aches. These medicines are mixed with food.

“The other herb that was on demand was the one that cures cancer, and most of the customers that we had were referred to us by people who once used our herbs. The herb is very effective and reduces the occurrences of procedures like amputation,” said Shuro.

Shuro said their herbs have no side effects and can be taken by anyone.

“Our medicines are 100 percent effective because we use natural herbs to help people with different conditions. We give customers our contacts so that we can constantly do check-ups on their condition and also send them more herbs in cases they need any,” said Shuro.

Chamisa Dying Out Next Year: Mutsvangwa

As Zimbabwe hurtles towards the 2023 elections Zanu PF registered an emphatic victory against opposition pretenders in the by-elections held over the weekend in what the party and observers said is a harbinger of what is to come next year.
The ruling party won in five of the six by-elections held on Saturday, sounding a “death knell” to the opposition that analysts say has nothing to offer to the electorates hence the poll routing.

By-elections, the last before the next general elections dates of which will be proclaimed by President Mnangagwa, were held in Buhera Ward 24, Mutare Ward 18 in Manicaland, Midlands’ Takawira Ward 6 and, Mashonaland Central’s Ward 4 in Guruve and also in Insiza Ward 4, Matobo Ward 2 both in Matabeleland South.

The margins of victory left the ruling party Zanu PF brimming with confidence. For instance, in Insiza Zanu PF’s Cde Daniel Dube won with 578 votes against CCC candidate Mr Augustine Gumede’s 415.

Cde Fadreck Siwela in Matobo got 934 votes to defeat Mr Sindiso Ngwenya of CCC who got a mere 270 votes.

It was the same script in Buhera where Cde Enest Muzokomba garnered 1 265 votes to win the seat for Zanu PF with his challenger Mr Joram Muzamba of CCC getting 692.

In Guruve Cde Season Chiguma of Zanu PF won the seat with 1 135 votes, defeating Mr Francis Wonder Kudyahakudarikwi of CCC who polled a measly 114 votes.

In Takawira Cde Winny Netsai Dzingira polled 594 to defeat Amos Marevengwa of CCC who got 314 votes.

The opposition got its consolation in Mutare where its candidate Mr Blessing Murindashaka of CCC pipped Cde Loveness Chiwashira with just a small margin.

In an interview, Zanu PF spokesperson Cde Chris Mutsvangwa said the victory recorded over the weekend portends to the demise of the opposition and the surging popularity of Zanu PF, whose sole presidential candidate President Mnangagwa is implementing transformative development that has found resonance with the populace.

“We very much welcome these victories by HE President EDM and Zanu PF his party of the Zimbabwe revolution. They are coming at a juncture when ZEC has announced an indicative July-August 2023 time-frame of the National Harmonised Elections. Clearly the by-election outcome is a real life straw poll of the mood of the national electorate.

“The message of hope and prosperity of President Mnangagwa which is anchored by tangible and all-round deliveries in the economic and financial sectors is chiming and galvanising the populace.

“One man band Chamisa stands starkly warned. His rudderless secret society of a CCC party is facing the kiss of political death come 2023.”

By and large Zanu PF won by big margins, in a bold statement ahead of next year elections and in what could foretell the outcome of next year elections.

Observers say while Zanu PF has been able to market itself to the masses the CCC led by Mr Nelson Chamisa has operated largely as a mafia organisation without organisation structures that should Inform its policies as well as strategies.-state media

Minister Announces Power Cuts Ending

Zimbabwe expects to end load shedding soon as it prepares to officially commission the 300 megawatts Hwange Power Station’s Unit 7 extension next month.

Energy and Power Development Minister, Soda Zhemu, told Parliamentarians on Thursday that the prevailing supply deficit of between 250 and 300 megawatts would be filled by Unit 7.

“Presently, the electricity deficit is between 250 and 300 megawatts and that is causing the load shedding during afternoon and evening peak,” he said.

“We expect this to be a thing of the past as soon as one of the units starts working.Load shedding is soon going to come to an end.

“The other unit which we expect to be operational in March or April next year, is going to produce another 300 megawatts. Government is also giving us the opportunity to phase out all the recurring problems.”

Minister Zhemu said as soon as Units 7 and 8 are functional, there will be a need to rehabilitate other units, which are Units 1 and 6.

“Right now we are checking on what needs to be done in these units and we call that detailed project reports.

“If we complete refurbishments, we will be able to produce the installed capacity of 900 megawatts,” he said.

The Hwange expansion project is being financed to the tune of US$1,4 billion and construction began in August 2018 following a ground-breaking ceremony by President Mnangagwa.

Meanwhile, the Government through the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) is encouraging high energy consumers to produce their own power.

“For those companies with machinery that uses a lot of electricity,

THE Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera)

is offering them licences to have their own solar power stations so that they can produce their own electricity,” said Minister Zhemu.

Some companies in the mining sector such as Caledonia Mining, have started generating their own electricity.- state media

ZRP Cop Shields Chinese National

Police assistant commissioner Jealous Nyabasa and his subordinates are being accused of protecting a Chinese national Li Song who is being accused of fraud, forgery and externalising of foreign currency.

In a letter of complaint addressed to Police Commissioner Godwin Matanga and copied to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc), Nyabasa is accused of shielding the Chinese national from investigation.

The complainant is an Italian investor Francesco Marconati who is a co-director, along with Song, at Eagle Italian Shoes. The company supplies the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), Zimbabwe Prison Services (ZPCS) and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) among others with leather shoes, helmets and baton sticks.

Song is said to have political, diplomatic and intelligence links and has been reported to Zacc and the police who allegedly ignored the submissions.

According to Marconati’s letter of complaint, in October 2021, the Italian filed charges of fraud, perjury and externalisation of forex against Song, which triggered a dispute between the directors.

He said one year later, the police have not carried out investigations and instead, submitted incomplete records which could not be used for prosecution.

Marconati alleges Song, with the help of Nyabasa is trying to silence him.

In a letter dated September 12 this year, Marconati complained that after reporting fraud, forgery and externalisation, a team of detectives was deployed to undertake private investigation on behalf of Song.

“The team spent one week in Bulawayo to retrieve information that Song intended to use for a civil suit. There is no known criminal allegation raised against this company, but in fact, Song is the one with pending criminal charges for the money she misappropriated in all the companies,” Marconati claimed.

“On September 20 (this year), l wrote another complaint after receiving information that they are now tracking my son using the information of the car track that Song had provided them. I fear that my son’s life is also in danger. The same police are using State resources to advance the interest of Song. Song is always in and out of the office of Nyabasa but when it comes to serving summons for her to go to court, they (police) always state that they cannot locate her.”

Marconati wrote that on September 19, Nyabasa deployed a team of detectives to Marondera’s Eagle Italian Shoes premises and interviewed employees concerning his personal life, leading the employees to stage a demonstration against Song.

“There is no known criminal allegation levelled against me or my companies. That is pure abuse of power. Everything being done is meant to silence me. The government of Zimbabwe lost a lot of money through externalisation and fraud that was committed by Song using a company in Mauritius by the name Jacaranda Consultancy that belongs to her,” Marconati wrote.

Marconati alleged that Jacaranda Consultancy was Song’s briefcase company that she used to swindle the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe by receiving foreign currency at the auction floor and then externalise the funds.

“I strongly feel that Assistant Commissioner Nyabasa is being used to promote a new company that was set by Song in Southerton, Harare which is trying to make shoes on behalf of the police also,” Marconati said.

“The criminal charges I filed are in the best interest of the nation which is losing money through externalisation. I have submitted this complaint before, l approached the courts of law and relevant authorities to register my frustration as an investor in Zimbabwe. I cannot just sit down and watch my investment for so many years being destroyed by sabotage from a public officer who is busy abusing his office.”

However, the police responded to Marconati in a letter of February 2 this year confirming receipt of the complaint saying a team of investigators led by Commissioner Wiklef Makamache will conduct a full investigation into the complaint.

The letter was followed by another from the Commercial Crimes Division informing Marconati of the progress of the matter saying the matter has been sent to the Harare magistrates for a trial date.

But Marconati said the delay was a result of Song’s political connections.

Efforts to get a comment from Song were fruitless as her mobile phone was not reachable.- Newsday

Analyst Dismisses Teachers For ED

Real Madrid Bury Struggling Sevilla

Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez and Federico Valverde struck late goals to secure a 3-1 win against struggling Sevilla and a six-point lead at the top of LaLiga on Saturday.

Luka Modric put the champions ahead after five minutes, slotting a low Vinicius Jr cross into an empty net.

Madrid then dominated but wasted several opportunities and allowed Sevilla back into the game in the 54th when Erik Lamela ghosted behind the defence to equalise from close range.

However, Vinicius Junior shone again with a brilliant run into the middle before giving a short pass to Lucas Vazquez who scored with a precise shot from inside the box in the 79th.

Valverde wrapped up the win two minutes later with an unstoppable strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Federico Valverde has now scored in three consecutive games for Real Madrid and has seven goals in total this season.

Real lead the standings on 31 points, six ahead of second-placed Barcelona who host Athletic Club on Sunday.

“We’re very happy,” Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois told Movistar Plus. “The first half was under control but we were lacking the second goal to be more calm.

“We know Sevilla are a great team. In the end they equalised, with a bit of luck. Luckily we woke up and scored two great goals. It’s a great win, and we’re still leaders.

“We didn’t start the second half well. We lost some balls and missed some easy passes, that gave them hope. But with the substitutions we took a step forwards and got back control.”

Record six-times Europa League winners Sevilla have won only two matches in all competitions this season and are 14th on 10 points from 11 games, two above the relegation zone.- ESPN

FC Platinum Clinch Fourth Consecutive Title

FC Platinum have been confirmed as the Castle Lager Premiership champions for the 2021/22 season.

The Platinum Boys’ title triumph has been confirmed following Dynamos and Chicken Inn’s defeats on Matchday 31.

Dembare, who are second on the log, fell 1-0 to Bulawayo City on Saturday, while third placed Gamecocks, played a goalless draw against Herentals on Friday.

The results maintained FC Platinum’s eleven-point lead despite the Zvishavane side still to play their matchday 31 encounter.

And with three games left for Dynamos and Chicken Inn, the gap is now unassailable for the two teams.

This confirms a fourth successive league title for Norman Mapeza’s charges with four games to play.

The achievement equals Highlanders and Dynamos’ record for most successive league titles in the Premier Soccer League era.

The Mandava side’s first title came in 2017 to become the first team based outside Harare and Bulawayo in the PSL era to win the title.

Meanwhile, the league triumph is Norman Mapeza’s 3rd with FC Platinum and 4th overall, having won his first with Monomotapa in 2008.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Mental Health

Nyaradzo Jan Advert: Madam Boss Inside Coffin In Jah Prayzah Song

By Showbiz Reporter | The below is a Jah Prayzah Jan song video showing Nyaradzo brandface, the sociallite Madam Boss as a dead person inside a coffin.

The clip which became public from around new year time, was at the weekend thrown into discussion as some Zimbabweans cast doubts on the facebookist’s Saturday accident.

Others suggested that the accident which has the hallmarks of an attempted murder, is a marketing stager put together by the Nyaradzo Funeral Company in order to shrug off controversies over their refusal to pay the life insurance claim of a person who had temporarily defaulted their monthly premiums.

The company had not commented over the allegations at the time of writing.

Pic from the advert clip

< Addressing cabinet minister, Monica Mutsvangwa in February Madam Boss requested for a law to kill everyone who criticizes her. She said: "As a person is saying such things as- we saw Madam Boss at such-and-such a place;

https://youtu.be/miEk_7vOj44

Is there not a law, so that such a person is immediately nyaradzwa’d- put down(killed), because it messes our jobs. I am a brand ambassador for Nyaradzo; Corporates don’t like seeing people engaged in drama; they don’t like getting involved in clutter or noise.

” So that person could attack the Nyaradzo company, saying ‘why did Nyaradzo hire her? Madam Boss did this, Mai Titi did that, BusStop TV did that.’

“Is there not a law, so that while a person is still speaking they are immediately hacked down by the police?” LAUGH LAUGH.

SONG LYRICS: At Nyaradzo we will kill everyone

We will kill everyone who criticises Madam Boss.

And here we are, asking the govt, to create a law to kill everyone who criticises Madam Boss, and Mai Titi.

And here we are, asking Monica, to delete the history, that she donated her body to the Comrades, in the war of Liberation.

Rick Ross Show Tickets Sales Above 70%

By Entertainment Reporter| Ticket Sales for the Rick Ross Show set for Harare on the 18th of November have surpassed the 70% mark as VVIP tickets have sold out, while VIP and general access tickets are above 50% and 70% respectively.

“We have been having good ticket sales, VVIP tickets are sold out, VIP tickets are on 50% and general access tickets are on 70%.” Roar Entertainment Public Relations Manager Dumisani Chihoto said exclusively to this publication.

The show has set a hype for the hip hop lovers and the organisers as excitement and anticipation is high as the show has met a marketing boost after MTV joined as media Partners.

“We now have MTV coming in as media Partners alongside Star FM which has been our local official media partner.

Our local partners Bank ABC, Booties pharmacy are also well engaged as they have given us the much needed support. Our premium platinum sponsor Betterbrands Petroleum is excited to see the outcome of the show.” Chihoto also emphasised.

The show is expected to be a boost to the entertainment tourism sector as guests are expected from across Africa and particularly the Southern African region.

“ We are having inquiries from individuals purchasing our tickets on our website from Botswana, Malawi, Namibia and South Africa but primarily Zambia has had the most interest. It showcases how entertainment is a key driver of tourism in Zimbabwe.” Dumisani Chihoto also said.

The organisers who reviewed the ticket prices downwards by around 35% emphasised that this was necessitated by their intention to avail the lifetime opportunity to a larger share of the public, while further availing tertiary education student’s the opportunity to attend the showcase as they have set ticket prices for the later at US$20.

“We reviewed our prices downwards for the general public with the view of accommodating a lot of people to come as we understand this is a lifetime opportunity.

We also went on to create a new promotion for students, primarily for tertiary education students . The promotion which introduces a $20 ticket for students is aimed at motivating them through availing the potential interaction with the local, regional and of course ‘Rick Ross’ on the day.” Chihoto also emphasised.

The show is expected to be a rare opportunity for Zimbabwean’s to see on stage the American Hip hop artist who is widely known for his car collection and hit albums such as ‘Port of Miami’ and ‘Teflon Don’ as well as his self acclaimed ‘Biggest Boss’ tittle.

Police Clearance Printing Copy Shortage Worsens

By James Gwati- For almost a month, the country has had a critical shortage of copies to print criminal record clearance certificates.

The shortage has left thousands of people intending to leave the country for employment or studies, risking their precious opportunities.

The Police clearance, commonly known as the blue copy, is obtained from Harare’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters.

Anyone intending to work or study abroad is required to produce the document.

The same could also be asked for by companies or government departments, which would offer a person a job.

It costs ZW$20 to get the police clearance.

Zimeye.com was at the CID headquarters and found hundreds of people looking for this security document being turned away.

Most of these people who got job offer letters in the United Kingdom have not been able to acquire the police clearance certificate since the beginning of this month.

“I have been coming here since the 2nd of this month and they have been telling us they do not have the police clearance printing paper,” said a young lady who got a job in the UK two months ago.

“What is frustrating is that they are not giving us any dates to expect that blue copy. They are keeping on saying that we should check every day and its annoying,” said another young lady who also got a care work in Britain.

Another lady who got a nursing job in Australia said she was only left with that police clearance to apply for her Visa.

“I have done all the tests including health check-ups and what left for me to get my Visa is the criminal record clearance and these delays are putting my chances of grabbing this job at risk. I got this job in July and my potential employer is sending me emails every day asking about my seriousness, “she said.

Also stranded are thousands of students on presidential scholarships, due to leave for their studies in China, Zambia, and South Africa.

A senior official at the CID headquarters who declined to be named said the government has “more serious priorities” than providing the police clearance printing paper.

“The issue is that the same paper is used for other security documents which are more important than the police clearance and it is this other alternative that the paper is being used for, for now,” he said.

Minister Kazembe said he was investigating the causes of this shortage.

“I am not aware of that shortage, and it may be because I was out of the country, but I will check with the relevant office and find out what the problem could be,” said Kazembe when they reached for comment.

This is not the first time Zimbabwe has announced that it has run out of such paper. Recently the registrar’s office ran out of passport printing paper.

The Transport ministry also stopped issuing learners’ driver’s licences because of the non-availability of printing paper.

US$300k Lawsuit For Byo Businessman

By A Correspondent- A prominent Bulawayo socialite, businessman and media personality Babongile Sikhonjwa has reportedly been hit with a US$300 000 lawsuit for costs associated with the upkeep of a 12-year-old who has been revealed as his daughter after genetic testing, also known as deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test.

According to sources in the know, Sikhonjwa was recently served with papers of the pending lawsuit by artiste and media personality, Thulani “Javas” Sibanda who is also Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club media officer.

The sources said Sibanda is claiming damages for the upkeep of the child he believed to be his for 12 years, but has now been revealed as that of Sikhonjwa, who only found out after the DNA tests.

The reports also revealed that the child’s maternal grandmother, under instruction from her United Kingdom-based daughter and mother of the minor, a former member of a local arts ensemble, approached the Magistrates Courts to apply for full custody of the juvenile.

“Javas is suing Babongile for US$300 000 for looking after the child for 12 years. The child’s grandmother recently reported Javas for contempt of court alleging that he (Javas) denied her access to see the child.

Then midway through the hearing during court set down, she stood up and said he (Javas) was not the father of the child and produced the DNA results.

They then applied for variation from Access to Custody and the case is due to be heard on 26 October,” said the source.

When contacted for a comment, Sikhonjwa said he could not speak about a matter which is before the courts, while Sibanda was unavailable.

Freeman’s Car Crashes

By James Gwati- Zimdancehall chanter Sylvester Chizanga, popularly known as Freeman’s car, was involved in an accident at the weekend.

Freeman announced Saturday morning that his Toyota Fortuner was crashed into a tree by his friend’s cousin in Masvingo.
Freeman released a statement on Saturday saying “Owen” took the car without his permission and crashed it.

Satanism Scare Disrupts Exams

By A Correspondent- Learning and public examinations were disrupted at Chirinda High School in Ward Nine of Mutare South this week due to mysterious occurrences, reported The Manica Post.

Since  last week, Form Four girls were reportedly behaving strangely and there are suspicions that they were initiated into cultism by some teachers at the school.

The affected learners would call out teachers’ names and sometimes menacingly charge toward them.

On Wednesday, lessons were suspended at the school as school authorities were locked in meetings with officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and parents of the affected learners.

One of the girls told The Manica Post that the strange happenings started after they attended a birthday party hosted by the headmistress. She said:

One Saturday evening this month, a teacher (name withheld) came and fetched us from our dormitories around 7pm.

She took us to the headmistress’ residence at the staff quarters within the school premises where she was hosting a birthday party for her daughter.

Cakes, popcorn, biscuits, sweets, and raspberry syrup were served at the party.

The school matron was not around that day and we returned to our dormitories around midnight.

The learner added that after a few days they started “visiting” an unknown place where they would get underwater during the night. She said:

A lot happened there. We wore gold necklaces and bracelets as well as high-heeled shoes.

Sometimes we stripped naked before wearing black robes and drinking blood from white glasses.

Eventually, we would turn into mermaid-like creatures.

The girl said they fall under a spell each time any of the said teachers passes by.

She also said when she looks into the teacher’s eyes, the teacher’s face mysteriously spins into different shapes and forms with a fluorescent glow.

The girl’s sister Sandra Hoko said when the girl was taken to a nearby clinic after an inexplicable seizure, no disease was diagnosed.

Manicaland Provincial Education Director, Edward Shumba said:

From what I heard, this could be a case of hysteria. It then becomes difficult to differentiate between a person who is possessed or not as there may be no way to authenticate that with a spiritual, supernatural or scientific explanation. As such, it may be difficult to tell what is factual from fictition.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers’ Association (ZINATHA) president, George Kandiero said the girls are under a spiritual attack adding that it is possible that they are being used by cults for monetary or sexual gains.

It is unclear who drove the Land Rover Discovery vehicle when it veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

Another Minor Mauled To Death By 2 Dogs

By A Correspondent- A 6 year old girl was mauled to death by two dogs in Goromonzi, while playing with her cousins.

Nakai Ngoshi of Dongo Village died on the spot.

Police confirmed the incident on its Twitter handle, saying the owner of the dog, Justice Nyamutsamba (40) has since been charged with culpable homicide.

According to police, on October 13, at around 2pm, the minor went to play at her uncle Tobias Ngoshi’s homestead.

It is alleged that Nyamutsamba’s dogs charged towards the juveniles and attacked Nakai.

The deceased’s two cousins tried to intervene, but failed and cried for help.

Nyamutsamba’s employee, Junior Munetsi (21) rushed to the scene but also failed to refrain the dogs.

ZB Bank Robbery Heist Mastermind’s Family Remanded In Custody

By A Correspondent- The family of Shadreck Njowa, the alleged mastermind of the US$2,7 million ZB Bank robbery, which occurred in January last year, has been remanded in custody ahead of a ruling on their bail application tomorrow.

Patricia Kanhukamwe (47), who is the wife of Shadreck Njowa (a ZB Bank employee); as well as Job Njowa (25), Washington Njowa (32) and Takawira Njowa (22), the couple’s children, are charged with aiding and failing to provide information on a suspected criminal to the police. Magistrate Mrs Evelyn Mashavakure ordered them to report to court tomorrow for their bail application. Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira argued that the accused were a flight risk. In their initial appearance yesterday, the Njowa family denied the allegations.

The State alleges that on October 20 this year, at house number 35E, Willowvale Flats in Highfield, Harare, the accused sheltered Shadreck Njowa, when they knew that he was wanted in connection with an armed robbery case.

A team of detectives from CID Homicide in Harare received information that Njowa was hiding at the apartment. It subsequently led to his arrest and the capture of two other accomplices — Paston Matengambiri and Nyasha Chitera — who are believed to have been part of the gang that robbed the bank.

The trio were in the company of 11 other suspects who have since been arrested. Their cases are currently before the court.

Kwachu-Kwachu Defects To Mnangagwa

By- Musician, and Patriotic Zimbabwe leader Hosiah Chipanga, said he was no longer interested in contesting the 2023 presidential election after he met President Emmerson Mnangagwa face to face.

Chipanga, a musician, said he launched his political to trick the President into meeting him.

He said:

I will no longer contest elections in 2023. I will vote for President Mnangagwa. My party was a trick to make me meet the President of my country.

For the past 40 years, I have tried by all means known to me to meet the President of my country, the late and the current one to no avail.

I was very elated to meet with President Mnangagwa at Beaulieu Primary School in Mutasa South constituency.

It was an emotional moment for me since I was yearning to see him for some time now.

I will not contest as a leader of an opposition party in the 2023 harmonised elections.

I entered into politics as a way of getting a platform to meet with the First Citizen.

How can I stand as an opposition leader when my wishes are fulfilled?

The Mutare-based musician claims he has a special message for Mnangagwa on how to govern the country to be delivered from current problems. He said he is yet to deliver the “divine revelation”. | The Herald

Walter Magaya Faces Arrest

By-The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has started investigations into the alleged sexual exploitation and abuse of women by Walter Magaya, a self-styled prophet.
Magaya is the founder and leader of Prophetic and Healing Deliverance Ministries church.
ZGC said an investigation into Magaya’s conduct was gazetted on 23 August 2019, but he launched a court challenge, stalling the investigation.
The commission said the courts have since handed down judgements which have allowed it to continue with the probe.
The ZGC is therefore inviting people who have sexual exploitation and abuse complaints against Magaya to come forward and present their cases. ZGC said:
The Zimbabwe Gender Commission wishes to advise members of the Public that the Zimbabwe Gender Commission in its Commission meeting number 38 on the 4th of August 2022 resolved to recommence the investigation of the allegations of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Women levelled against Prophet Walter Magaya of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries.
The investigation which was gazetted on the 23rd of August 2019 (General Notice No.1444/2019) was halted by the Legal Challenge launched by the key respondent Mr Walter Magaya (Prophet Magaya).
We are happy that the courts have given legal judgements (SC592/19, HC 7347/19 and HH688/19) which have paved the way for the continuance of our processes.
As such, we are calling on all citizens who might have complaints of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) involving the conduct of Walter Magaya to present particulars of their complaints to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.
The invitation is also being extended to all the complainants and witnesses to such acts which consist of SEA of Women within the denomination.
Please refer your complaints to the CEO of Zimbabwe Gender Commission 1st Floor Pax House 89 Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Harare +263(0242) 250 296; +263(0242) 701101, or email [email protected]

PSMAS Hits Mliswa & His 19 Children Hard

By- The closure of the Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) has left Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa (Independent) and his 19 children stranded.

The outspoken, independent lawmaker said his 19 children are subscribers of PSMAS medical aid.

Mliswa has since appealed to the Minister of Health and Childcare, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, to reopen (PSMAS) hospitals.

Said Mliswa:
Right now when we are sick, where do we go? It is an emergency issue and our families are on PSMAS.
I have 19 children and their medical aid is on PSMAS. If one of them is sick, what do I do now when we are in this situation? This is a service that we have already paid for.
In response, Chiwenga said he had directed the permanent secretary of health and the staff to open all PSMAS hospitals which had closed down.
Chiwenga also urged people to pay for the service and those with many children had to pay more. He said:
We are putting medicines into those institutions so that our people get attended to.
The issue of what should be done now, is a matter which we will be discussing with the Ministry of Finance, the regulator, and all stakeholders concerned, to say in the meantime, whilst the investigations are going on, we want the services because people will not stop to be sick. Therefore, they have to be attended to.
… I am happy that Hon. Mliswa said that he has got 19 kids. If you have got 19 kids and you pay $40 for 19 kids, how do they get treated?
So, these were some of the issues which we are saying if we have got the money, it has to be a maximum.
If you want to have many kids, in fact, I want Members to get this right. Because the population has got to balance, we have got to have children but if you are to have children, you must be able to support them.
The way you support them is, you increase your contributions. The Government pays 80% and the member only pays 20%. That 20% had become meaningless.

Energy Minister In Desperate Bid To Save Party Post

ZANU PF Muzarabani District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson Zhemu Soda is being accused of trying to co-opt a party member who is not in the structures to fill up the vacant post of a youth league member who was promoted to national structures.

Benjamin Kabikira who is Soda’s ally has since been rejected at District level and Soda is said to be pushing for his provincial member to replace Abigal Marungweni who was promoted to national youth wing.

Sources in the party said Kabikira is being positioned to unseat Muzarabani South Member of Parliament Tapera Saizi.

“We have serious factionalism in Muzarabani where the DCC chair (Soda) is said to have received a bribe from Kabikiri to co-opt him into the provincial youth wing. This is meant to unseat MP Saizi who did not support the incumbent provincial party chairperson Kazembe Kazembe during the chaotic provincial elections,” the source said.

Since Kabikira was not in the structures people of Muzarabani refused to accept him in Chawarura district.

It is further alleged that the DCC received a letter written by Soda’s youths to endorse Kabikira to the province but the move hit a brick wall since a few individuals benefited from the bribe.

Soda could not be reached for comment.

However, factionalism is causing rifts in the ZANU PF Mashonaland Central with those that supported Kazembe calling for the ouster of MPs that supported his rival Tafadzwa Musarara in the provincial elections.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been cancelling his star rallies in Mash Central Province at the eleventh hour due to factionalism of the once ZANU PF stronghold.
